Nature & Parks
Roundhay Park is a stunning expanse of nature nestled in Leeds, drawing nearly a million visitors annually. This expansive parkland boasts beautiful gardens, serene lakes, and winding walking trails that invite exploration. Families can enjoy two playgrounds and various sports fields, making it an ideal spot for outdoor activities. The park is also known for hosting vibrant festivals and open-air concerts throughout the year, adding to its lively atmosphere.
Roundhay Park is absolutely brilliant – one of the best city parks I’ve ever visited. It’s massive, beautifully maintained, and has something for everyone. The lakes, woodlands, and wide open green spaces make it perfect for walks, picnics, or just relaxing outdoors. We spent a good few hours wandering around and still didn’t see it all. The walk around Waterloo Lake was especially lovely, with ducks and swans, and loads of scenic spots to stop and take in the view. The Tropical World nearby is also well worth a visit if you’ve got kids or just fancy something a bit different. Great facilities too – plenty of parking, clean toilets, and cafes dotted around for a coffee or snack. Whether you’re local or just visiting Leeds, Roundhay Park is a must-see. A proper breath of fresh air right on the city’s doorstep.

Roundhay Park is a beautiful green space at the heart of the community. The park has something for everyone – from wide open areas to relax, to fun attractions like the land train ride and play parks for children. The lake is perfect for a stroll, and feeding the ducks is always a favourite. There’s a lovely café overlooking the water, and you’ll often find an ice cream van nearby on sunny days. The park also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including fairs and food festivals, which make every visit feel different and exciting. A vibrant and welcoming place
Shauna L — Google review
Nice area with cafes, walks, cricket pitch and a land train. Area was really clean (almost no litter) and the paths were fairly good; more than good enough for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Also the Monet Garden and HESCO garden which were lovely too.
Samantha K — Google review
Roundhay Park is such a nice place to spend a few hours. It’s really big, with lakes, open fields, and plenty of walking paths. There are always people out with their dogs or having picnics, but it still feels calm and peaceful. You can get some great views around the park too. It’s one of those spots that just makes you feel relaxed and glad to be outside
Isabelle M — Google review
It was very fantastic yesterday afternoon and I enjoyed it a lot with my only brother and husband. There is a nice view of the lake area. A nice arrangement for sitting is also a perfect picnic spot with a picture perfect environment.we are delighted specially me because I always ask my husband for the "Ice-cream " they sell at the park yesterday its perfect timing and took two on my both hand like my childhood then went back to my childhood days....itsssss a Marvelous day out....thanks to park authority.... Going very soon there.. 😊
Naima M — Google review
It’s my favourite place to visit in Leeds. The most beautiful and spacious park in the city with great views and landscapes especially round the lakes. You can enjoy walking, cycling, hiking or just relaxing having your tea or coffee near the lake. It’s the best place for picnic although it doesn’t have enough restrooms for visitors.
Mohammad H — Google review
A fabulous huge open space free to visit. Although LCC have now imposed car parking charges which isn’t ideal. Disabled parking is free. 2 beautiful lakes, loads of walks. Wonderful band stand. Boathouse cafe and coffee shop at the bottom. Mansion house tea rooms at the top.
Glam N — Google review
I have wandered through Roundhay Park in Leeds, where winding paths invite quiet walks and nature whispers through rustling leaves and birdsong. I still remember sitting by the lake one quiet afternoon, the sun casting golden ripples on the water, lost in thought as time seemed to slow. Beneath towering trees and open skies, peace lingers like a gentle breeze. It’s a place I’d warmly recommend to locals seeking a breath of calm and to visitors hoping to feel the quiet soul of Yorkshire.

Harewood House is an 18th-century stately home located in Harewood, Leeds. It boasts stunning Robert Adam-designed interiors, priceless art collections, and a beautifully landscaped garden. The house features antique furniture, historic paintings, ceramics, and a playground for children. Visitors can also explore the Bird Garden which houses over 90 different species, including some that are endangered or vulnerable.
We didn't get too much time to explore everywhere, but what I did see I liked very much. Breathtaking views from the garden of the house. Had a lovely cream tea with sandwiches, cakes and scones. Very substantial and part of an organised coach holiday. Not sure how much it would have been had we gone there on our own. The house was interesting and we were lucky to visit on a day where the weather was great.
Jackie F — Google review
Absolutely stunning grounds. The house is very interesting, quite a lot to see. It will take you approximately 30 minutes to an hour to go through the house. At the exit there is a little cafe where you can have a drink and cake. They don't serve much food, so don't be thinking to have lunch there. The gardens and lake are stunning. You could spend half a day easily strolling and enjoying the grounds. Negatives: toilets. Too few, old and dirty. Get them refurbished. The cafe was poor. Food was bland, overpriced. Tables dirty. Wasps everywhere - you need to control and get some bug zappers. Ticket prices are extortionate. £50+ for a couple. It's a bit ridiculous. Come on. It's definitely worth a visit, however, at this price I very very much doubt we will be back. The price is very off putting.
Toomuchtime P — Google review
Absolutely stunning! The entry fee may seem a bit much but it's 50% off if you're traveling by bus. The large grounds and the walk is gorgeous and the inside of the house is very beautiful.
Siri U — Google review
The large grounds and the walk are gorgeous, and the inside of the house is very beautiful. It’s an amazing house with an interesting history. The Austen and Turner exhibition was really lovely. We would have liked to have lunch — the cakes looked delicious, rich in flavor, and the champagne glasses on the terrace looked beautiful. The Terrace Café outside offers a stunning view.
Craig — Google review
Was an amazing place for a full day out. The new playground was much loved by my kids 11 & 5. The grounds are well kept with plenty of walks avaliable. We went for a stroll around the house and it was interesting looking and leaning a out its history. We got the admission fee on offer through their website. There is ample free parking and your car is easily accessible once parked to go back to to collect items. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy a picnic. We will be back again.
Michelle — Google review
We attended the open cinema experience. Was a great little spot, good seating, good set up, food stalls and everything close by. Walked the grounds before- lovely little area.
Emily H — Google review
We enjoyed a good few hours here so was well worth the price we paid. The house itself was stunning and very informative. The tour guides were friendly and were happy to answer any questions. There was alot of walking but there was shuttles that will take you to the furtherest points but on the way back I couldnt see any so had to walk. The play area for kids us fab. I bought our own food and had a picnic but there was three cafes. The house closed earlier than the grounds so maybe best to visit the house first to avoid rushing around at the end. Plenty of seating dotted around. Very picturesque.
Shazia A — Google review
Very beautiful and well maintained house and gardens. Please allow yourself plenty of time or arrive in the morning to do a much as you can. The House closes at 3pm, the terrace cafe closes before 4pm but the Courtyard is open till 5pm, the ferry closes at 4pm and is not available weekdays. The old church has no parking but there is a shuttle bus. Lots of walking, gentle strolls, some places are hilly by the lakeside. There is a free ferry ride to the Walled Garden. There is a Children's Area, stroller / pushchair hire too.

Temple Newsam is a magnificent historic mansion located just southeast of Leeds city center, surrounded by lush parkland and a working farm. This grand residence boasts an impressive collection of priceless art and antiques, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the area. Visitors can explore beautifully landscaped grounds designed by Capability Brown in the 18th century, as well as formal parterre gardens that add to its charm.
Beautiful flowers in the walled garden at Temple Newsam! The greenhouse is currently closed for refurbishment, however there's lots of vibrant colours on display in the gardens. Enjoyed the daily special in the tearoom for £6.99, which was a southern fried chicken salad with sweet chilli sauce. They also serve a good range of sandwiches, jacket potatoes and cakes. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors in the courtyard. Always a nice place to wander around for an hour or two!
Julie M — Google review
My favourite park. I live not far. Great place for a walk, cycling and running and many other events. Beautiful view around. Little lakes and garden. Massive space for walkers or people who do sports. House is great too. Farm _ great for kids and children. I just love it each time of the year.
Anna L — Google review
Super enjoyed the visit , fantastic insight on how the very wealthy lived in this wonderful mansion. The influence they would have had when Great Britain was building its empire around the world. Definitely worth a visit 👍🏻
Malcolm P — Google review
Four out of five stars because on the whole, the house and Home Farm are brilliant. Good value for money also. The house is as fine and authentic as any grand Elizabethan house that you can imagine. Well preserved and looked after, steeped in history and a real maze of corridors, rooms, staircases and more. The staff have beautifuly dressed it with a Halloween theme throughout and all are super friendly individuals. The farm also is staffed by a real good bunch and the farm is easy to get around and explore. The cobbles however may prove difficult for some but in truth aren't that bad and add to the original character of the farm. The landscape also makes for aesthetic viewing and walking, a real Capability Brown piece. The let down is that whilst the house and farm is payable, albeit good value, the wider estate is free access and whilst that is a benefit to most, you had the same old few who like to destroy or degrade all that is beautiful by rising off road bikes through the estate. Plenty of playgrounds for the young ones and parking is affordable (£4 for 12 hours). A treasure that we need to preserve for future generations and a great day out.
Richard P — Google review
Our first time here and what a lovely place to visit. Only £2.50 to park for upto 4 hrs. We didn't go in the house or farm because we had our dog with us. We walked around the estate and had some lovely food in the cafe. Looking forward to going back and visiting the house in the near future.
Peter S — Google review
Marvelous park and surrounding areas. Extra payment for house and farm entrance. Cafe fairly expensive. About £16 for 3 coffee ☕ and 2 "sausage" rolls. Ordered sausage rolls and these were the worst sausage rolls ever. Not a sign of anything like sausage. And lacking any taste. Will go again. Will use cafe. Will not eat. Would have been 5***** except for that
John H — Google review
Large well kept grounds with lots of wide paths. Free motorised disabled transport. Nice walled garden. Very peaceful
James B — Google review
We had a great experience here during Halloween! The staff were super nice and helpful but our most favourite thing was the cellar tour! I would definitely recommend! We will be back in summer to do the full cellar tour!

Sky Lounge is a luxurious rooftop bar and lounge located on the 13th floor of the Doubletree by Hilton Leeds, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city and Yorkshire. The sleek interior features floor-to-ceiling windows, while an outdoor terrace provides a breezy atmosphere. Guests can indulge in decadent afternoon tea, bottomless weekend brunch, or crafted signature cocktails from day to night.
We visited the Sky Lounge to catch the sunset, but the clouds had other plans. The views from the lounge did not disappoint, absolutely breathtaking. Both the views and atmosphere were incredible, making up for the missed sunset. The indoor area was too crowded, but given that it was a Saturday evening, that was to be expected.
Savvy — Google review
The moment I stepped into Sky Lounge, I fell in love with the vibe of the place. Lovely atmosphere! Being on the 13th floor, it has got great views of the Leeds city. There’s plenty of outdoor seating on the terrace along with ample indoor seats. The soft music playing in the background blended perfectly with the cheers and laughter of the guests. Speaking of the tea itself, we opted for cappuccino and were served a great assortment of finger sandwiches(which was very fresh), lovely scones and a beautifully curated selection of desserts. Had an awesome experience. Highly recommended!
Aditi D — Google review
Had afternoon tea at Sky Lounge on July 17, 2025. The food and cocktail were okay, and the view was decent. Service was super friendly and attentive, but overall it wasn’t the best afternoon tea I’ve had. I enjoyed it, but not enough to come back or recommend it. I’d probably try somewhere else next time.
Angela M — Google review
Sunday afternoon tea at Sky Lounge was a lovely experience with my OH, which we'd booked through buyagift. Booking was easy by phone and we were sent a text reminder the day before to confirm our booking. Had a beautiful window seat and service was friendly and efficient. Our finger sandwiches were excellent and probably the highlight of the afternoon tea. The Mango and passionfruit torte & the White chocolate raspberry delice were sublime. However the Mini chocolate fudge cake and Clementine tartlet were slightly stale and tasted like something from a poor supermarket bakery. The scones also didn't seem fresh and were heavy and brick like, rather than light and fluffy. They were saved by the Bonne Maman strawberry jam and the clotted cream. Great views and a chilled vibe. Would definitely consider coming back. Although as the sweet offerings were a bit of a mixed bag, we both agreed that a savoury only afternoon tea might work better, with a greater selection of delicious sandwiches or other additional savoury items instead.
Graham M — Google review
Located on a high floor, the lounge provides panoramic views of the city, creating the perfect backdrop for a drink or casual meal. The ambiance is sophisticated, with comfortable seating and a contemporary design. The cocktail menu is creative, featuring expertly mixed drinks, while the small bites are flavorful and well-presented. Service is friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant visit. Whether you're unwinding after a long day or enjoying a special evening out, the Sky Lounge at Hilton DoubleTree is a fantastic choice.
Aly — Google review
Been twice for bottomless brunch and both times has been good Service has varied, the first time I went the service couldn’t be better however the second time the service was much slower. Like most places it depends on the server and the day I had the chicken and waffles dish both times (larger tables have to pre-order well in advance) and it’s ok. The chicken is good but the dish is very dry. It does come with a syrup however nowhere near enough. Portions are small but in a place like this it is expected however you do expect better quality to compensate
Eleanor N — Google review
Highly recommend the brunch. Excellent value for money, top variety of drinks. Jessy our server was outstanding and catered to our every need. Also A blonde tall lad with longer hair curtains ( I didn't catch his name) are a credit to your team. Good atmosphere and tunes also! Keep up the good work and thanks again ☺️

Review: Hilton Sky Lounge - Leeds Rating: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ The Hilton Sky Lounge in Leeds offers a unique and sophisticated setting for afternoon tea, with impressive views of the city skyline. While the atmosphere is undoubtedly charming, the overall experience falls somewhat short of expectations. The afternoon tea includes the traditional scone, which is delicious and served with a generous helping of clotted cream and jam. The sandwiches are also enjoyable, with a decent variety of fillings. However, the standout elements of afternoon tea stop there. Unfortunately, the cakes included in the afternoon tea are rather plain and uninspiring. They lack the creativity and flair that one might expect from a venue of this caliber. As a result, it's not uncommon for guests to leave these sweet treats uneaten. The service at Hilton Sky Lounge is satisfactory, but it doesn't stand out as exceptional. While the staff is polite and attentive, the overall experience lacks the special touch that would make it memorable. In summary, the Hilton Sky Lounge in Leeds offers a pleasant setting for afternoon tea, but the experience is marred by plain cakes and standard service. With a few improvements, this venue has the potential to be a fantastic destination for afternoon tea. For now, it earns a 3-star rating.

Nestled in the charming suburb of Kirkstall, Leeds, Kirkstall Abbey is a stunning remnant of 12th-century architecture that transports visitors back to its vibrant past as a Cistercian monastery. Founded in 1152, this remarkable site showcases well-preserved ruins including the church and cloisters, offering an intriguing insight into medieval monastic life.
Absolute must see. This abbey dates back at least 800 years…. Absolutely incredible, such a beautiful place to visit. There’s a museum as well although we ran out of time for that. There’s a cute coffee shop and souvenir shop as you enter. It’s by donation so pay what you feel fair. Carpark is a short walk over the road from the abbey, opposite the small museum. Free parking.
Raelene R — Google review
Beautiful place for a wander on a sunny day! Parking outside the Museum for free. Entry is free but you will have to make a cash donation via terminal or use a traditional box. Toilets, a shop and a little snack shop at the entrance. You can have a picnic outside near a lovely river.
Marta R — Google review
Lovely large medieval abbey which is well presented. Kids enjoyed the simple family trail we did and exploring the various ruins. Particularly like the 'Pay as You're Able' model for every as otherwise things can get prohibitively expensive for families during already busy and expensive summer holidays!
Alistair N — Google review
Really good place to visit on the edge of Leeds . The Abbey is free to enter , they just ask that you make a donation for the upkeep. The parking across the road is free . We were unfortunate that the museum was closed due to lack of staff. Restaurant was clean and tidy and served good quality drinks and snacks. Will go back.

Kirkstall Abbey is an absolute gem in Leeds! The ruins are stunning and so well preserved, with so much history to take in as you wander through the grounds. It’s a perfect place for a peaceful walk, a family day out, or even just to sit and enjoy the scenery. The surrounding parkland is beautifully maintained and makes the whole experience even more special. There’s a lovely mix of history, nature, and open space. It’s free to explore, donations welcome. Definitely one of the highlights of Leeds and somewhere I’d recommend to anyone visiting the city.
Malc S — Google review
Well preserved ruin with lots of information posts. Fine for an enquired tour. Free to enter but there's a suggested donation. Well behaved dogs on leads welcome.
Ian N — Google review
We enjoyed our time here. There was a food market on when we visited. We could visit the Abbey ruins for free. It is very lovely by the water. I had a coffee and a snack in the cafe. There is also a gift shop. The front of the cafe is dog friendly while at the back there is a cafe allowing assisted dogs only. The coffee was very good as was the choice of food and snacks. There is an option to pay to visit the Kirkstall Abbey Museum. Unfortunately we didn't have time to visit this time. Free parking accross the road and well worth a visit 😀
Peter S — Google review
Gorgeous ruin with tons of history, incredible sights, and really lovely picnic spots. The ruins are truly impressive, very majestic, and almost haunting in their imperfection. A lovely walk out from Leeds central, it's a great spot to visit on your tour of the North.

Nature & Parks
Nestled on the northern fringes of Leeds, Golden Acre Park is a sprawling 136-acre oasis that invites visitors to immerse themselves in nature's beauty. This enchanting park features meticulously landscaped ornamental gardens, vibrant wildflower meadows, and tranquil woodlands that create a serene escape from urban life. A highlight of the park is its impressive Lilac Walk, home to a national collection of lilac trees alongside stunning displays of hostas and day lilies.
I thought I knew everything about this park no, but to my surprise it is bigger than I thought) t there are plenty of paths around, if you want to get away from the crowded path around the lake. Now lilacs started blooming and there are lots of them on the paper ground above the tearoom. There are many species of plants and flowers specifically, which I love, starting with early spring. What I also enjoy that the park has information board around the park to ensure visitors autonomy and educational experience while they are enjoying the views the walk and the company. The park is pretty much family grandly with lots of lawns to play, table in the shade fur having snacks, and of course children like the lake. Surprisingly the swans and ducks are not frightened with so many people are d and the lake is quite picturesque. They say it was way bigger in earlier days. I suggest that the park exhibits the photo from earlier days on their information boards to celebrate their long history and popularity among visitors of all ages and several generations.

What a lovely walk in nature. We were lucky enough to see the frogs crossing the paths. It has the friendliest squirrels, they come really close to say hello. The birds are beautiful too. Lovely little cafe to stop for an ice cream. So many gorgeous flowers and butterflies too.

A very lovely and huge park. Peaceful scenic walks and a beautiful lake with Swans. There's a couple bird hides with beautiful views.

A beautiful place with so many different routes to explore. You could spend hours here getting lost in nature and spotting wildlife. Plenty of places to rest whether you want to take a picnic or visit the cafe. There's toilets, ice cream van and the parking is cheap

We had a very nice morning walking around the park with our dog. There’s a few car parks on either side of the park with plenty of spaces. They’re free to park. Lots of guided paths to follow with maps everywhere. The wildfowl lake was popular with the kids! The gardens are currently bare due to winter, but I’m sure it’ll be beautiful to visit in the summer. There’s a dog friendly cafe with a selection of cakes and hot/cold drinks, and ice cream! Looking forward to returning in the summer season for music on Sundays!

Victoria Gate Casino, located in the heart of Leeds, is a prime destination for casino enthusiasts. As the largest casino in Northern England and Scotland, it offers a wide range of gaming options including electronic roulette machines, slots, blackjack, poker and roulette. Visitors can also enjoy live entertainment and indulge in delicious dishes at the on-site restaurant. The casino's sports bar provides a great place to catch up on the latest matches while sipping cocktails.
Fantastic evening. The casino was busy with a fun atmosphere. Ate at the new Chinese restaurant and looked after by the lovely Francis and Nori. Drink service from Anthony was superb. Such a nice chap and very knowledgeable. Then a bit of play. I'd been a couple of weeks ago and it was so nice that Tracey the dealer remembered my name and the waiting staff remembered my drink of choice! So special shout out the the young and so keen team of Andie Aaron and zac at the Bar and Brian keeping the drinks flowing and everyone happy. Finally met VIP host Cal who has time for everyone and goes the extra mile to check everyone and I mean everyone is having a fun and safe time! Definitely worth the train trip as easy walk from Station. Will also try to attend one of their special shows and events when back in Leeds as they sound so much fun! Thankyou David

Not impressed tbh. I travelled from Hull to Leeds by train because I was lead to believe this casino would be better….nope. Now admittedly it was a Sunday. I got to the casino about 2pm. Only one card table open, blackjack, and it was fully seated. I prefer 3 card poker. The “pit boss” said that would “not be open until around 9pm”..…..but there was only one card table open anyway !!! So, I resorted to playing slots. After 1 hour I had to ask a member of staff if he could send a waitress/ waiter over for a drink. He did, and that was the only time someone came to serve me. I know, not a major issue, but still ! The casino may be open 24/7 but the games are not. Very disappointing and sadly, I will not rush to return

For the management, I have been visiting VG more than ten times in recent 12 months and enjoy staying there safely without fear of harassing by drunkards, and for the security they are friendly and polite, so I don't think they are rude but if one were a drunkard this will be another story. However two days ago around 1800hr it seems to be a man asking for money, perhaps next time I will seek help from staff nearby . Thanks.

I love the space and the variety of machines. You (members) get given free play vouchers, which is nice. You used to get more free/discounted drinks with your membership to encourage you to visit. Unfortunately, this offer has changed and gone up in price. You used to get free Pepsi, but now they give you rola cola, which is all syrup and bubbles. The counter staff have all been lovely and friendly. Generally, they're the ones who have been there since the start. They give great customer service and recognise you even when months have gone by. Some of the floor walkers are new and young and don't seem to want to be there and just put their hours in, but that can happen anywhere. Generally, it is a great place to visit whether by yourself or in a large group. They have entertainment and big screen events, and you can book an area with friends. The food has always been nice, not top-notch dining but decent.

Food, service and environment are fantastic but the tissue endangers people's health. Dye of tissue left on the bench after it got wet. Therefore, don't use the tissue there

Avoid I went in yesterday and complained about one of the machines as it didn’t let me have bonus. Then today I got told I wasn’t allowed in due to my Greggs uniform. Then I rang spoke to manager he said that its fine and to come to then be told by another manager I’m not allowed to. This place is a joke avoid like the plague

Leeds Town Hall stands as a magnificent testament to 19th-century architecture, showcasing an elaborate neoclassical facade that captures the essence of grandeur. This iconic structure is not just a feast for the eyes; it also serves as a vibrant venue for concerts and comedy shows, making it a cultural hub in the heart of Leeds. As you wander through the city center, you'll encounter other architectural gems like the Leeds Corn Exchange and Civic Hall, but none quite match the striking presence of Leeds Town Hall.
It's a beautiful building, reminiscent of Edinburgh's style. Definitely worth seeing if you are in Leeds
John — Google review
Leeds Town Hall is Grade I listed building, boasts a rich history. It was designed by Cuthbert Brodrick and opened in 1858 by Queen Victoria, who made only one visit to the city. The building is one of the largest town halls in the UK.
Win T — Google review
Leeds Town Hall is a breathtaking architectural masterpiece nestled in the heart of the city. Stepping inside, I was immediately struck by the grandeur of its Victorian-era design, complete with magnificent columns, intricate detailing, and a stunning concert hall. The building exudes a sense of history and importance, making it a must-visit for both tourists and locals alike. I had the pleasure of attending a performance in the concert hall, and the acoustics were truly exceptional, adding to the overall ambiance of the experience. Whether you're interested in history, architecture, or the arts, Leeds Town Hall is a cultural gem that should not be missed.

We attended Leeds Town Hall to see the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and I was so surprised to find a concert hall inside, I had no idea there was anything like that inside. I'd attended a wedding there previously in one of the function rooms. The sound was great.

Such a beautiful building inside and out. Well stocked bars - decent wine, beers, spirits. Need to go to the main bar for draught. Can take a while to get drinks at large events so make use of interval ordering if available.
Yvette A — Google review
The town hall is a great space for any event. I attended a huge beer festival there and it was fantastic. The inside and the basement is very cool. The basement has old jail cells that were old and beautiful.
Benjamin M — Google review
The town hall is classical in style but baroque in imaginative power and drama. It stands squarely at the top of a flight of steps (altered from their original shape) on a mound made specially for the purpose. The whole facade is made of giant columns and all the sides reflect that pattern. The central portico has ten huge Corinthian columns. Then there is an immense frieze and rising above it all the central tower, 225 ft (69 m) high, which was not in the original design. The Victoria Hall rises to 92 ft (28 m) inside the parallelogram of surrounding rooms and corridors and the enclosing colonnades. The carving of the tympanum over the front entrance represents Leeds encouraging the arts and sciences. The four Portland stone lions on plinths along the frontage, modeled at London Zoo, contrast with the sandstone of the building itself. The town hall provided accommodation for municipal departments, a courtroom, police station or 'central charge office', and a venue for concerts and civic events. It still has a role as a council office, although many departments have been relocated. The principal performance space, the richly decorated Victoria Hall, is a venue for orchestral concerts. Its concert organ, the largest three manual example in Europe, is used for lunchtime organ recitals.

Headrow House is a versatile venue located in the heart of Leeds, offering a beer hall, restaurant, and roof terrace. This former textile mill hosts regular arts and music events and boasts two roof terraces with scenic views of different parts of the city. The large Scandinavian-style beer hall serves over 60 different ales and beers, including Pilsner Urquell fresh beer from tanks - making it the first place in the North of England to do so.
When you walk past the front of this bar you would never believe what is inside, there were a couple of security people on the front door which is on the main road and then when you walk through you go up a few flights of stairs again extremely quiet and not knowing what to expect but you get to the top where the terrace bar is And again lovely views of the city we have plenty of seating area, perfect for a sunny day with its own terrace bar upstairs, atmosphere was brilliant

Headrow House is a nice venue for Novel Notions, a community book swap, held quarterly at Headrow House. It's a simple and appealing concept: drop off some of your own books that are surplus to requirements, and get a token per book; then come back a bit later and exchange your tokens for a selection of the wide range of books (fiction and non-fiction) also dropped off by Leeds' bookish community. Search through forgotten classics, nab a new release or find a new favourite you never knew you just had to read! Novel Nations happens every few months, always on a Sunday; check out Novel Notions on social media, or the Headrow House website events page.

Leeds Dock is a vibrant waterfront destination that offers a refreshing escape from the busy city center, just a short 15-minute stroll away. Nestled along the picturesque Leeds-Liverpool Canal, this revitalized area boasts attractions like the Royal Armouries Museum and an array of charming independent bars and restaurants. Notable spots include North Star coffee shop and The Canary, which creatively occupies repurposed shipping containers with stunning views of the water.
Such a beautiful and attractive place to relax and spend time. There are nice walking areas, interesting architecture, and even the option for a boat trip with the taxi boats. It was really quiet at this time of the year, not crowded at all,I bet during summer there are a lot of people. I bet during summer there's a good variety of restaurants and bars, so everyone can find something to suit their taste and budget, but now the options were quite limited. The dock offers options for spending time outdoors, and exploring the Royal Armouries museum, which is huge and definitely worth a visit. Unfortunately we couldn't visit because it was closed (Monday only). I saw that there are limited options for shopping, comparing with the city centre. Overall,we really liked it and definitely will come back during summer.

I absolutely love Leeds Dock! It’s such a vibrant yet peaceful area with everything you could want right on your doorstep. I stayed in Clarence House and honestly, it’s the best place to live in the area – modern, comfortable, and with stunning views of the dock. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, perfect for early morning runs or peaceful evening walks. There’s a great sense of community and it’s ideal for anyone who enjoys being close to nature while still having easy access to the city. Whether you’re into fitness, want a scenic place to unwind, or just looking for a beautiful place to call home, Leeds Dock has it all. Highly recommend it!

Nestled in the heart of Leeds, Gledhow Valley Woods offers a serene escape from urban life, just two miles from the city center. This enchanting stretch of ancient woodland is filled with winding paths that invite exploration and discovery. As you wander through its lush greenery, you'll find yourself captivated by the vibrant colors of autumn or perhaps even enjoy a stunning winter sunset that paints the sky in rich hues.
A piece of tranquility only 2 miles from the centre of Leeds. The woods are a great place to go for a walk, a jog, runs or simply for peace and quiet. The woods are about a 1.25m long from top to bottom and stretch out on both sides of gledhow valley road. There is real good climb on both sides to get your heart pumping and your knees working. In the middle of the woods there is a small lake with a few swans and dozens of ducks. It's a great place to pass away an hour or two and bring balance to you mind and soul.... ENJOY

Pub
The Hare and Hounds Pub in Tingley is a traditional and dog-friendly pub with a spacious beer garden, making it an ideal spot to enjoy warm summer evenings. The pub offers a decent selection of food and drinks, along with great service. Despite being busy on weekends, the popularity of the pub speaks for itself. During Covid, the establishment expanded its outdoor space to include a large pavilion, comfortable seating areas, and added entertainment such as live music and comedy nights.
Gorgeous pub and absolutely lovely roast dinner at great prices, and beer garden is really nice, lovely staff and atmosphere, would 100% recommend this place.
Lana M — Google review
It's a pretty good pub. The food is tasty and varied. The waiters work quickly. Tables are clean, which of course is important. I ordered 2 glasses of wine and they turned out to be in streaks and on one glass there was something frozen, apparently some residue of old food. Maybe the dishwasher didn't clean the glass completely. It was unpleasant, of course. I had to drink the wine through a straw. Overall the atmosphere was good but it was VERY hot. There were a lot of people in the pub and there were no seats on the terrace outside, so we had to sit inside. I ordered 2 dishes but I had to go outside 3 times to cool down as I was very hot. I'd say it's pretty uncomfortable eating and sweating. It's a minus. The windows in the room only open half way and that is only the top small windows. Air conditioning as well, there's no air conditioning here. In general, I would give 4 stars with a stretch. But the food is good. I had lasagne and mix salad. The salad was good, but the dressing was incomprehensible, but the lasagne was good. My wife had the same salad and kebab, which was also quite tasty. A friend had a burger which was very juicy and tasty. In general, I could recommend this place but if you will be relaxing with a company or if there are a lot of people inside the pub, it is better to sit on the big terrace where there is VERY much space. You will be comfortable there. I ended up spending about £60 for 4 courses with 2 blkals of wine. I wouldn't say that's a lot considering the pleasant flavour of the food.
Alex S — Google review
Stopped off for food on the way home from Manchester and pleased we did. Looks like a small little pub from the outside but very deceiving as the garden is huge. The food was some of the best pub food I’ve had in a very long time too, freshly made and home cooked 🤤
Karen O — Google review
Always wanted to try one of the famous platters at H&H. My friend got the ploughman's and I got the fish. Definitely worth getting. Have also tried the roast sandwiches, on a diffefent occasion which were really nice for a lighter option. Soft bread, extra gravy for dipping, with amazing home made chips. The sunday dinners are cracking too! However, book if you want to eat the sunday dinner on a plate, as they only offer a plate inside the pub, else where it's in a box, which isn't the end of the world, it just feels restrictive. I've been here numerous times and its a great pub with a great Scandinavian style lodge and one of the best beer gardens in the area for miles.
Gareth R — Google review
Brilliant atmosphere here. Perfect location for enjoying sunny days. Amazing food and friendly service. Well organised at busy times. Lots of seats available in different options (sofas in the marquee or bench tables outside. Even have pods available for a deposit which includes table service. They think of everything.
Julie M — Google review
On arrival the car park was full and a sign diverted us to parking in a nearby school. No problem for us but it might be for someone less able. There appeared to be something going on in the tent bit of the pub which is fair enough, there's going to be enough staff to cater for everyone? BTW, we had booked in advance. The beer garden was practically empty and our order taken. It took a while for our drinks to arrive and even longer for the food. The table was booked at 12.30 but the food didn't arrive until 1.50. One dish was missing which was another 15 minute wait (later refunded). I can't speak for everyone in our party of 7 but my order wasn't right. I wasn't going to complain and wait another 15 minutes for it to be sorted. In a nutshell, the bread was white instead of brown, the mustard was missing and the chips would have been amazing if only they were warm. I'm sure on a normal day, things would be better? There needed to be more staff to accommodate the needs of what was going on it the tent together with the normal running of the beer garden.
Carol E — Google review
Came here for a last minute family meal. One of our party has mobility issues and whilst we didn’t have a booking the staff could not have been more helpful in making sure we were seated appropriately. The outdoor space is excellent with plenty of sheltered and non sheltered seating. The serving staff were friendly and efficient and the food was very nice. We’ll definitely be visiting again. Also, very dog friendly.
Rich H — Google review
Not a bad word to say about this place, the atmosphere and cleanliness was amazing, the staff were great but the real eye-opener was the food, if you're local (or not) you owe it to yourself to try here. Absolutely cracking little bar, I really wanted a good bar in the sun for this lovely weekend so had a scout on google to find this place. Right in the centre and can see the town hall from all seating near enough, lovely rooftop views and plenty of spots in the sun around dinner time. Sun trap would be an understatement, it’s right in the sun and was great for being in the sun. Drinks are a little bit on the expensive side as it was around £6 a pint but to pay for being in the sun was more than worth is. The bar staff were super polite and really nice, had a good crack with us and a laugh. Very fast service and beer was lovely and cold. Very clean everywhere and toilets were immaculate, love all the wooden furniture all the way round.

Nice bar but absolutely empty at 10pm on a Friday night. Booked a 90s dance music night, besides the fact there was nobody there, not a single dance song or 90s song was being played and the music was very quiet. Was also advertised to have a live saxophonist which there was no sight of. We bought one drink expecting it to pick up but left to go to other establishments after it did not improve

Love Primrose Valley Park, its a lovely wide open space with lots of quiet little places to walk your dog. The tennis courts have recently been refurbished but unfortunately people are still taking their dogs in and children on bikes so not sure how long they will last. Would be lovely to have swings/ play area for abit more variety, but as with most parks think it might get vandalised by older children/adults. All this said though I still enjoy going there with my dog and family as a way to relax and reconnect.

Nestled in the heart of Leeds, Sugarwell Hill Park is a delightful escape that invites visitors to unwind amidst its lush greenery. Named after the historical practice of mixing sugar water with liquorice root, this park has transformed into a serene spot perfect for picnics and leisurely strolls. With stunning panoramic views over the city, it’s an ideal location to catch breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.
Well as not familiar with the areea, I was looking for a new route to walk with my dog. I followed google map and I wake up in this beautiful peaceful place. I love wood's and green area's. Definitely we will return for a longer exploration. 10/10

Post Hill is a stunning 28-hectare natural haven nestled between Pudsey and Farnley, offering an array of outdoor activities for everyone. This enchanting spot features meadows, woodlands, and a charming waterway that invites visitors to hike, walk, run, or even bike through its scenic trails. As you ascend the hill's impressive height of 527 feet, prepare for a rewarding challenge that culminates in breathtaking views—making it one of Leeds' most romantic sunset spots.
A hidden gem between Pudsey and Farnley. Great for walks, photography and mountain biking. Park up near the near Wickes and walk all the way up the valley. Great trees and steep hill.

What a heavenly little place! Saw a flyer for it at Farnley Hall so stopped by, not expecting much. But such a lovely spot! Meandering woodland, a picturesque stream backing onto fields and a mammoth hill with a lovely view onto the town. A perfect setting for a long morning walk!
Joanne O — Google review
I like it up towards Hough side and back of Troydale lane. A bit over whelming for my Dog however a nice place should you wish for your dog to socialize. Excellent views and beautiful when quiet.
