Nestled in a 5.1-acre park, Mt Bonnell is a must-visit destination in Austin, Texas. Named after William Bonnell, this elevated summit stands at 750 feet and offers breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Austin, the city skyline, and the surrounding hills.
Went early morning. Bit cloudy but still beautiful! River and city views were amazing. You can walk up stairs or take a small trail on the right. Parking is there. Just be careful around the area.

First time coming here!! There may be a short hiking path but we drove up to the parking spot where we just climbed up the stairs of 100 steps etc. from the top, the view was very nice and beautiful! You’ll get to see either the scenery of the downtown Austin or the river! It’s a nice location to look out the view and enjoy nature!! Come see it and have fun! Cheers 🥂
Mr. D — Google review
Visited Mount Bonnell during my trip to Austin. You’ll walk up a few steps to reach the viewpoint, where you get a nice view from the top. While the scenery is pleasant, there aren’t many great spots for photos. It’s more of a place to walk and enjoy the view. Still worth a quick visit if you’re in the area.
Shashank P — Google review
Love to bring visiting guests here. The view is gorgeous. It’s a short climb to the top. Less than 5 min. It’s close to the Mayfield Park and Preserve where you can see peacocks, their babies, and peafowl. There are porta potties there. Parking is easy if it isn’t busy.
Kelly T — Google review
A very easy and doable hike for anyone! We went early in the morning to catch the sunrise. Although it was a cloudy day, the short hike was still wonderful and peaceful.
Harini C — Google review
Great place to visit. It's up on the mountain top. There is stairs to climb up to the top. The scene is quite beautiful to watch. Going in sunset or sunrise is recommend.
Arpan D — Google review
It’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s a nice view of the river and the skyline and it’s free, so there’s not really a reason to not go. The stairs up to the view is very short. There’s a big table at the top you can sit on to be raised up. It’s a great place to yap and chill with people. It’s really pretty at night, and I’m sure it’s also beautiful in the day too.
Angela — Google review
Coming from Tarrytown, I hiked up to Mount Bonnell early one morning to avoid the heat. The path was straightforward, a mix of paved sections and natural trails that took maybe 10 minutes from the top. I felt a sense of calm watching the sunrise over the Texas Hill country with the Pennybacker Bridge arching in the distance, the views of the river homes along Lake Austin were striking all those rooftops nestled in the trees. It’s free and accessible, but the lack of shade made me glad I went early worth it for that fresh perspective on Austin‘s landscape

Zilker Botanical Garden is a 31-acre oasis within Zilker Park, offering a variety of attractions such as ponds, trails, and educational programs for kids. The garden features a herb garden, an Oriental Garden, and a butterfly garden that is best visited from April to October to see migrating butterflies. Additionally, the Hartman Prehistoric Garden showcases plants from the Cretaceous period along with dinosaur tracks and a bronze sculpture of an Ornithomimus.
So glad we visited the Zilker Botanical Garden. We were short on time so we just explored the Japanese Garden- it was beautiful! Such a fun, calm space to spend time in and walk around - and it has a great view of the Austin skyline. Plenty of parking, tickets are as listed on the website ($8 per person, slightly lower if you are an Austin resident) - you can buy tickets at the entrance prior to parking. This is one of those places that will really make you like the city - not a hidden gem but for sure an essential space to truly liking the city.
Malavika K — Google review
Zilker Botanical Garden is a beautiful and peaceful place right in the heart of Austin. The grounds are well designed, with winding paths that take you through a variety of themed gardens, including the Japanese garden, rose garden, and cactus and succulent areas. The koi ponds, waterfalls, and shaded walkways make it a relaxing spot to stroll and enjoy nature. It’s a great place for photography, a quiet walk, or just a break from the busy city. The garden is not huge, but it’s full of charm and very well maintained. Definitely worth a visit if you’re spending time in Austin!
Liyan — Google review
This place will provide with a very calm, quiet and peaceful experience for anyone who loves nature, searches for greenery, loves scenic views and flowers 🌸! There are a lot of trees of different types and origins, which I guessed were organized in a disciplined way with designated areas. Those individual gardens have different names. As far as I can remember, there were japanese garden, cactus garden, hartman prehistoric garden and so on. I went during summer time, I don't know if it was an ideal time to visit, but I was mesmerized by the diversity and color of flowers. There is also a small waterfall, several scenic spots with small pedestrian bridges, water maze. Also a great place for photography, solo or group tour or just walking and refreshing the mind. I don't usually visit the same tourist spot multiple times, however, I wish if I could go there once more. 😇
Shoumik K — Google review
Zilker Botanical Garden ⭐️⭐️ The koi fish were plentiful and lovely to watch, but overall the garden felt smaller than expected with very few flowers in bloom. The rose garden was non-existent during my visit, and the lily pond looked a bit neglected — it’s unclear whether that’s due to the season or general upkeep. Parking is tight, and the paths can be uneven, which may be difficult for visitors with mobility or stability concerns. The noise from the nearby main road is also distracting at times when cars race by, taking away from the tranquility you’d hope for in a botanical garden. While it’s worth a quick stroll if you’re already nearby, true garden lovers may want to save their time for other destinations.
Marissa T — Google review
Great botanical garden with plenty of shade, seating, and relaxing spots. The cactus area is small but nice. Bonsai garden was disappointing—fenced off and no details like tree ages. Views are lovely, especially by the pond with fish and seating. Flower collection was underwhelming compared to other gardens I’ve seen. May be because of weather. Overall, a good experience—I especially enjoyed the pond, fish, and small waterfall.
Priya N — Google review
Enjoyed the butterfly garden & passionflowers in bloom. The Muertos alters were nice. Wish we had more time to go through. We were late getting there. Loved the Wind-chimes.
Kanina C — Google review
Volunteered here for school and took advantage of free admission with a walk about. This area is vast and peaceful. I would recommend coming in the morning if you're looking for quiet moments of reflection and 0 crowds. Family friendly and educational. All the people I've encountered (workers/fellow volunteers) have been friendly and knowledgeable. An Austin gem.

Somewhat small now for a city this size now but the Japanese garden and "dinosaur" section are very pretty. Also great views of downtown skyline by the visitor center.

Outdoor movie theater
Sekrit Theater, located in an unassuming east Austin neighborhood, is a funky paradise and a favorite spot for photographers. It offers eclectic and artistic backdrops for various occasions such as proposals, maternity photos, family portraits, and events. The lush greenery throughout the summer provides an authentic feel of Austin's hip personality. This sprawling backyard-type environment features botanical gardens, strange architecture, a greenhouse, an old school bus, an outdoor bathtub, and more.
Chandeliers in trees, a bus, a magical greenhouse — every inch of this place is whimsical to explore. The first time I visited years ago, I came because my tattoo artist had shared he and his wife had their wedding here — and when I visited I was just in total awe of the magical spot— and I have been bringing back others since then. This visit my partner and I booked an afternoon slot so could show him this place and be creative with photography — next time we’re for sure going to book ahead to grab a golden hour slot next time to catch light in the greenhouse :)
Rachel — Google review
I had no idea what I was walking into when we booked senior pictures at Sekrit Theater. But we opened the gate and walked into a fairy tale. It is magical, beautifully random, weird, and perfectly Austin. Everywhere you look you see something new and interesting. So an amazing gem hidden in East Austin!!
Kim F — Google review
Can't wait to get back. going to make up a reason to visit.
Paul B — Google review
Performed a wedding.... Wonderful intimate venue in greenhouse. Lots of eclectic places and interesting backdrops.
Delane W — Google review
Sekrit Theatre never disappoints as a reliable venue for proposals! The pictures are always a dream and clients are always surprised this whimsical property is nestled into East Austin! @mckenzieallenphoto. Having captured 10+ proposals at this venue, I always feel confident arriving and creating a beautiful intimate proposal! If you’re looking for a planner - I often work with @amoreaustin! Honoring the booking time is crucial to respecting other clients who may be minutes away from their own proposal - as a friendly vendor, I’d like to add this note as a tip to photographers/planners/guests who book a certain amount of time <3 We are all a part of the magic! The venue does have a restroom and bug spray, however if you are particularly magnetic to mosquitos, where proper clothing and bring extra spray!
McKenzie C — Google review
Beautiful venue!! It's so neat. Lots of great photos ops. Would highly recommend. However, we booked it until 2pm, the next party started at 2pm. There was nobody on site (if there were an issue between reservations...). A little prep/take down time between reservations would be nice.
Whitney B — Google review
Great spot for fantastic photos. If your into the "rustic" look this is definitely a place to check out. Bring a good camera and/or a photographer and you'll capture some really cool photos. It's amazing this is such a sekrit and so few people know about it. 😊👍
Jeff C — Google review

The Contemporary Austin - Laguna Gloria is a contemporary art museum located just 10 minutes outside the city, offering a unique blend of art and nature on the tranquil shores of Lake Austin. The museum features rotating exhibits, including the ongoing exploration of landscape in John Grade's Canopy Tower installation. This outdoor circuit takes visitors through The Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park and smaller one-of-a-kind installations, while inside the historic villa, diverse contemporary art exhibits showcase innovative works.
What a beautiful walk at sunset! The sculptures are AWEmazing and the trails and water views, just gorgeous! If you see this review one day, Jenny, thank you for the recommendation. You are such a beautiful person! Thank you for that way too brief but wonderful exchange when we were watching the peacocks. If you have an afternoon to do something in the Austin area, visit this place. You will not be disappointed!
Erica V — Google review
Thursdays are free! So you know, as a free experience this was fun. The art is interesting to read about, even if I didn’t understand most of it. It’s a cute place. Near the lake. Fun to wander around. Right next to the peacock park, so do two things at once if you’re in the area.
Mae-Yee Y — Google review
Love this museum. It’s outdoors and there are pretty cool sculptures to check out. Pro Tip: It’s free Thursday’s go around 6:30 pm and grab pizza afterwards. 10/10 Sculptures 🗿
T P — Google review
I have great memories of summer art classes at Laguna Gloria. It’s a beautiful place to walk, enjoy the sculptures, and take in lake views. There’s a small entry fee now, but the café makes it worth it, a perfect spot for a sunny day.
Landon W — Google review
Very nice place! It was a good choice of placement for the lake was just in eye sight. Majority of art there were installations which I like personally the most. My favorite was “Looking Up,” by Tom Friedman which is the pinned tall aluminum man in the fountain area. A lot of the art was in the forest, and it was very relaxing and refreshing to go to an art museum that wasn’t indoors. Overall the experience was amazing, and they have an art school and summer camp for kids 4-17. I would suggest 10 out of 10 great place to go.
Avideen — Google review
A really amazing experience, walking at the park at sunset. Just can't miss it, this is one of my happy places in the city. Thursdays are free! But in case you go on another day, the fee is $10.
Joel R — Google review
October 2024 This was my first visit to the Contemporary Austin at Laguna Gloria and enjoyed it. I loved the walking trails though the woods and along Lake Austin seeing all the artwork in the Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park. I was impressed by all of it including the grounds with the Driscoll Villa, Visitor Center/Shop, Art School and Spread and Co. Café. The only drawback is finding a parking spot along the street since there is no lot on site. However, I did plan my visit by seeing it during the week around lunchtime where easily found a spot and parking is free. It was very relaxing and peaceful felling you were away from the busy Austin city life. The staff was very friendly and like it so much I purchased a membership.

Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve is a serene 21-acre sanctuary in West Austin, offering short hiking trails, a historic cottage, and beautiful gardens overlooking Lake Austin. The park is home to free-roaming peacocks, adding a unique charm to the surroundings. Visitors can witness the full mating and life cycles of these colorful birds while exploring the grounds for free. With its picturesque setting, including coy ponds and lush greenery, Mayfield Park provides an ideal backdrop for photography enthusiasts.
It’s free to visit and see the peacocks in the park! There’s plenty of parking, and a small path where you can take a nice walk. It’s really interesting to watch the male peacocks spread their feathers to attract the females. It’s a great little outing, especially for kids they’ll love seeing the peacocks up close!
Mai P — Google review
Mayfield Park is a great nature preserve. They have peacocks that roam freely in the courtyard. Don’t get too close to them, but they’re beautiful to see from a distance. One was singing to us early this morning when we saw them. It’s mostly a good nature preserve for young children as the trails tend to be on the shorter side, but the views of the river are interesting. You can walk up to Mount Bonnell and see some of the breathtaking view of the river, too. It would provide a much longer hiking experience.
Boris V — Google review
If you’re looking for a unique hiking experience, this is the one for you. It’s a shorter hike and you can stop and see the peacocks! The peacock area is super cool and relaxing. Good memory maker!
Brooke S — Google review
This was definitely worth visiting. We had a great time. It's so beautiful and peaceful. I loved seeing the peacocks so close. They were just chilling in the shade. We saw about 6 peacocks and several cute lizards. There were also snapping turtles in the lily ponds that poked their little heads out of the water. We will come back when we visit Austin again.
Lindsay G — Google review
Visit early morning or late evening. Due to nature of the park, it may be hot. Parking is free and usually not filled out..if it is you can park on the street. This is amazing place to visit with friends and family because it has two different attractions here. One is actual park with peacocks and garden and other one is multiple trails. Directions are bit loose on Trails so take a picture trail maps. One with white door is the entrance of garden while next to borders or through garden is Trails. Trails are bit hard to follow as there aren't dedicated signs to follow at all times. For example, you can start at one trail however, in the middle the trail, it will split into two ways and you just have to try both and see which one is most utilized or right way to go..however, you will not get lost as people are walking by and trails are short. You will have good view of lake and amazing pictures to take and explore. Bring atleast 3 gallons of water. Rest rooms are actively maintained and water fountain is not available. Portable restrooms are available but as you can guess, they are not that good.
SHIVA V — Google review
So pretty! It's free, you just walk in. No dogs allowed though. Many places to take photos/pose, very cool plants, many friendly peacocks, pretty ponds, etc.
Haylee — Google review
Nice trails that lead to river. Lots of shade and picnic tables. Did not see any birds or any other animals. We did witness someone in the water that had to be rescued by ems/ fire.
TB — Google review
A nice scenic place to go hiking next to the river in the lush Texas wilderness. Not recommended for strollers or younger children. Will require a bit of effort Ealing across streams and over tree branches. Better to enjoy in cooler weather. Beautiful peacocks to see and a quaint garden and landscaping as well.

The Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin is a vibrant complex that hosts a diverse array of performances by local and national artists, as well as free community events. It serves as Austin's Creative Home, providing facilities and services to foster excellence, originality, and collaboration among performing artists and organizations in the Greater Austin region. The center aims to connect diverse audiences with significant local, regional, national, and international artists in a world-class venue.
The Drop In is great. Live music weekly on Thursdays. Tickets are released on Monday. They show their events on insta. The city lights were nice to take in. Entry is near riverside drive and 1st street. Parking isn’t close by unless you park at the long center. Street parking is somewhat far but it’s an easy walk. There are ride options parked outside after the event if you’d rather not walk. Seating is on the grass. People brought chairs and blankets. You can bring an empty water bottle and fill it up at a water refill station.

More like a 4.5… Nice! April 2025, never been here. Came to see Acro Cats! ❤️🐱 Rollins Theater is so intimate, with roomy seating and it’s nice and COOL (I run very 🥵!)…it looked so much bigger and with many more seats on the website when I chose seats and paid (a very easy procedure and I chose for my tickets to me mailed to me). Seats are riser-style (but with nice chairs), so great views for all. No need to pay more…all seats are great; it’s very small (maybe we’re just in one section, walled off). If you wear 🤓, though, you’ll want them. Outrageous parking (to me…$20), but I think it was available further away for half that, so just plan better than we did...but really the only reason for ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️…and it seems to be avoidable (though I can’t speak for a huge show or whatever else they do there). Show was 7 pm on a Saturday and zero bad traffic (that certainly CAN happen, even on weekends) or crowds. Reggae Fest was across the street…Jah! No resulting crowds. (Photos show the delightful show more than they do the facility…but there were no bad seats in there.)

This is such a great venue for an arts performance, especially considering ample parking in the garage next door and one of the best night times views of Austin.

The hubby and I saw the Nick Offerman show (Little Woodchucks: A Night of Comedy and Woodworking) last night and absolutely loved it! Staff was friendly and helpful, and for a reasonable price we had fairly close seats to the stage! Nick and Lee were delights and put on a wonderfully fun and entertaining show, just as expected. We hope Nick and Lee will come back soon to Austin! Nick Offerman is a national treasure!

I thoroughly enjoyed the free outdoor brass quintet performance by the Austin Symphony last Sunday. This was my first time attending. The "I Love You So Much" Mural is a famous photo spot located on the side of Jo's Coffee shop in Austin. Created by local musician Amy Cook as a peace offering to her partner Liz Lambert, the red cursive script against the pale green wall has become an iconic symbol of love and friendship. Visitors flock to this mural daily to capture memories with friends and family, making it a must-visit location in Austin.
Definitely a nice spot for people from out of town to take pictures on. There was no line when we went to take pictures of the mural as it was 4pm. The surrounding area is also nice with shops and restaurants. It is on the high end though so just be aware of that.

Texas native who had NEVER been to this mural, so it felt like a must-do during my last visit to Austin. while I agree it is cute! it was definitely underwhelming 😅 its a simple wall with simple words but maybe that's what adds to the beauty and allure of it. On the plus side, it is in the middle of a busy street with lots of shops nearby! if you're in the area, then its worth it to get that insta-pic but I wouldn't drive cross county or state for it.

The Texas Capitol, a stunning 1888 granite and marble structure, boasts a remarkable rotunda and dome along with House and Senate chambers. Adjacent to this historic site is the Bullock Texas State History Museum, named after Lieutenant Governor Bob Bullock. The museum offers interactive exhibits across three main themes: the founding of Texas, the state's history and name origins, and opportunities within the state.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A grand and iconic building in the heart of Austin! The Texas Capitol is a stunning piece of architecture—made from granite and marble, with a beautiful rotunda and dome that make it feel both historic and majestic. The grounds are well-kept and spacious, perfect for a peaceful stroll. Inside, you can explore the House and Senate chambers, and the immersive view of the building from above is absolutely breathtaking. Located at 1100 Congress Ave, Austin, TX, the Capitol is part of the Texas Confederate Memorial Lawn, which adds a historical layer to your visit. It’s currently closed but opens daily at 7 AM—plan to come early to beat the crowds. Definitely a must-see for anyone visiting Austin or interested in Texas history.

I had a good time visiting the Texas State Capitol in Austin. The architecture is stunning, and the building is full of history. I enjoyed walking through the rotunda, seeing the portraits of past governors, and learning more about Texas’ unique political history. The provide a free tour with a guide of what seemed like every 15 minutes. The grounds were beautifully maintained, and the views of downtown Austin added to the experience. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!!!

Beautiful architecture especially inside the dome. You're not really allowed to go anywhere else other than the centre inside. Airport type security at the entrance with metal detectors. There are toilets inside, clean. Beautiful gardens and monuments outside.

The Texas Capitol is a must-see in Austin. It’s impressive from the outside, but definitely worth stepping inside too. The building is beautiful, full of history, and free to visit. Everything is well maintained, and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. A great place to walk around, learn something new, and take some great photos. A solid stop if you’re exploring the city.

The Texas State Capitol in Austin is an absolute must-visit and one of the finest state capitols in the United States. Nestled in the heart of downtown, this historic landmark stands tall with its impressive architecture, rich history, and beautifully maintained grounds. From the moment you approach the building, you’re struck by its grandeur. The pink granite exterior gives it a unique character, and the rotunda is truly breathtaking once inside. The interior features intricate details, historic paintings, and sculptures that reflect the pride and legacy of Texas. The dome itself is higher than the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., which is quite impressive. The Capitol is open to the public and offers free guided tours throughout the day. These tours are very informative, covering everything from Texas history to the legislative process. The guides are knowledgeable and passionate, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. You can also choose to do a self-guided tour if you prefer to explore at your own pace. The Capitol grounds are expansive and beautifully landscaped, making it a great spot to walk around, relax, or take pictures. Statues and memorials throughout the grounds add to the experience, each telling a different part of Texas history. Whether you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast, or just a curious visitor, the Texas State Capitol offers something for everyone. It’s a place where you can truly feel the pride Texans have for their state. And best of all — it’s free to visit! Highly recommend setting aside a few hours for this remarkable site. It’s a shining example of Texas history and government, and a highlight of any trip to Austin.

Today was a awesome day at the Texas State capitol, I initially went just to make a contribution to google maps cause a few of my friends asked if I could but then without any kind of notice a group of young mariachis, an Aztec dance group in full regalia out of Houston and a Mexican vaquera soldadera who too was from Houston,I apologize for not asking your name but I hope your picture alone gives you justice, you made a outstanding performance and I personally applaud you,,as for the eagle and Jaguar knights special shout out to conrado Acevedo and kind heart and the rest of the Houston Aztec dance group,, and last but not least id also like to give a shout out to the local mariachi group from Akins high school, there was plenty of singing and dancing and all kinds of Instruments keeping sync from each performing group at times your occasional grito can be heard, there are restrooms and water fountains and it is wheelchair accessible, the grounds are very well kept, with monuments and dedication plaques at different points of the capitol grounds and you already know there is always a large police presence, tours are free and there is one in English and also one in Spanish of course at different times and they start out of the southern foyer, there are plenty of benches in and outside the capitol bldg, so one can take a break and breathe in all the history and stare in awe as you look around and see how beautiful and spacious the inside of the capitol is,,it never got to crowded and please be respectful and take your hat off within the bldg, outside it's cool all day every day,if you have never done one thing outside the norm and your from Texas, please before you get any older take a trip and visit your state capitol,I strongly recommend you take your kids and/or grandkids,,I promise you will never forget the experience... enjoy

The Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum in Austin is a unique destination that showcases the works of Charles Umlauf, featuring an outdoor collection of touchable bronze sculptures. Situated at the edge of Barton Hills neighborhood, this museum offers rotating exhibitions in its indoor space and boasts four acres of beautifully maintained gardens with ponds and numerous bronze and stone sculptures donated by Charles Umlauf.
Very affordable ticket prices! Parking can be rather difficult, but the garden is surprisingly spacious and nice to walk around. I went to the Lunar New Year event they had during closing hours, which does cost more than usual to attend, but the special effects on the dragon dance was pretty cool.

I had my wedding at Umlauf Sculpture Garden on May 3, 2025. I cannot think of a more magical location for a venue. The whole day felt like a fairy tale because of the lush greenery, babbling brooks, and elegant sculptures. Pros: They let me visit as many times as I wanted They answered no fewer than 200 of my emails The coordinators were so sweet and easy to work with The venue is gorgeous. Some quick notes: The event rental is only from 4 PM - Midnight, including load in and load out and the amplified sound has to be off my 10. This means extra charges for delivery timing, usually only about an hour and a half of dancing, and other specialized coordination. If you use their preferred vendors, then they can let them come in at 3:30. However, there was a lot of confusion on my wedding day and it set us 30 minutes behind the whole night, which is huge. Working with this venue can be a bit of an undertaking which I underestimated, so just something to note! That all being said, I do not regret my decision to have my wedding here! It was a lovely night.

We were looking for cheap things to do during our trip and are so glad we found this place. We had fun going on a little scavenger hunt to find certain statues. My little niece was excited each time she found one on her paper. It was a nice little walk in nature as well. Highly recommend visiting.

Visited on a family day with free admission and was surprised by how much this little garden offers! I always pass by the garden and peek from outside, but there are more sculptures hidden among plants and trees to be discovered in the garden!!! It just made me feel zen and relaxing by sitting down on a bench listening to the wind and water! The paths, plants, and ponds are so well planned. They have many activities today, like chess, arts and crafts, story time, and pottery. The staffs are super friendly too! Will definitely come back visit again.

Not much to see. The map suggests the property is much larger than it actually is. I would not recommend this being you will only be there 15 minutes at best.
James W — Google review
The Umlauf was the first wedding vendor my now-husband and I booked for our 80-person November 2023 wedding, and our day was as gorgeous as we knew it would be with such a venue. Although we were worried about rain on the day-of, it ended up just being a gorgeous light overcast that made all the greens and golds of the trees so lush and beautiful—which in turn gave us the most beautiful wedding photos. We hosted both our ceremony and reception in the space, and the gardens are so versatile that it never felt crowded, only fun and intimate. We absolutely loved the flexibility of this venue and being able to bring in our own team of selected vendors (with approval) to make our day as tailored to our wants as possible. The team at the Umlauf were always so quick to answer questions and provide information as we planned, and you can tell how much the staff loves sharing the beauty of the space with people. We worked with 2 different venue managers during our planning process, but the transition was seamless and never caused us any issues. We did book 2 tents for the wedding because the rain chances were so all-over-the-place, so that is one aspect you have to consider when planning an outdoor wedding. Another thing to remember is that they are a museum, so if your wedding is on a day they’re open, you won’t have access to the venue until 4 pm. We got married on Monday (their Closed day) and were able to pay for a couple of extra hours to get in early, which did help with the time crunch. I would highly recommend the Umlauf as a wedding venue for brides wanting a garden-themed, art-filled wedding. Photographer: @stephanierogersphotography (Stephanie Rogers Photography)

The Boardwalk at Lady Bird Lake is a 7,250-ft. boardwalk that offers stunning views of the shoreline, city skyline, and even turtles. It's part of the 10-mile Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail, also known as the Lady Bird Lake trail, which is popular among locals and visitors for walking, running, and cycling.
It was such a beautiful day, and I got the chance to go kayaking on the lake. It was peaceful and serene. I fot.to see the ducks and some turtles. The water was calm, and the buildings looked beautiful. I can't wait to go kayaking at night.

The Boardwalk at Lady Bird Lake is an extremely fun trail that stretches around Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin. Walking down it you get this hybrid sense of being somewhere quiet and relaxing, yet still surrounded by Austin’s ever expanding infrastructure. It is quite a lengthy trail that we have only gone through parts of but every time we’ve walked through it, it’s been an enjoyable experience. It can get quite busy at times with families, joggers, and bikes zipping around. Highly dog friendly but just remember to watch for bikes as some cyclists don’t call out their passing. Parking can be tricky but if you find a good spot (sorry, we’re gatekeeping ours) it shouldn’t be too bad. If you have anyone visiting you in Austin or it’s your first time here, we do recommend you check out this classic Austin trail!

Lovely area for a walk, with water views and the Austin skyline, though it's not really a "board"walk mostly concrete so you'll feel the heat radiating on warm days. Pretty widely built so no issues with two way traffic simultaneously. No public toilets around.

Retro Boat Rentals ATX rents out pontoon boats and kayaks in Lake Austin and Travis, TX. The company offers private boat charters starting at $150 per hour with a three-hour minimum. The boats come with speakers, an ice chest, anchors, GPS systems, swim ladders and more.
100% worth the money! Fun way to cruise around Town Lake. 5 mph is kind of perfect. Plenty of space in the boat. Highly recommend a covered/ boat with roof during a super sunny/hot day. I believe they provide umbrellas but you don’t want to hold an umbrella, you want to hold hands. The folks at the dock, both at the departure and return were all super sweet and really personable. I was super impressed by the entire process and transaction! Had a blast!

I highly recommend ATX Retro Boat Rentals! From start to finish, the experience was smooth, relaxing, and one of a kind. The peacefulness of the water paired with the retro vibes of the boat made for the perfect outing. The ambience was top-tier — calm, scenic, and just the escape we needed. Retro Boats ATX offers such a unique and fun way to experience Austin. The boats are stunning, easy to operate, and comfortably seat up to four people. The entire experience was fantastic, and the customer service truly stands out—they take the time to walk you through the process and even provide a map of the area. I also appreciated the added peace of mind knowing they can track the boats for everyone’s safety. I’ll definitely be booking again, especially to try the night boat ride!

We were looking for a fun and different way to explore Austin when we stumbled across Retro Boat Rentals; it delivers that in spades! It is exceptionally easy to book your adorable boat online and fill out the pertinent waivers required ahead of your visit. When we arrived, we were greeted by two exceptionally nice young men. Max, the dock hand who showed us the ropes, was very friendly and we appreciated his explanation of the boat, the areas to avoid and the "rules of the road". We got to cruising and, as it was a Thursday morning, had the water to ourselves. It was very peaceful and we were happy to spend the morning doing something so fun and relaxing. I was happy for the shaded canopy over the cute vessel "Ethel" and could see in the summer months having it be absolutely essential for enjoying the experience. Max was brilliant in his suggestions for lunch nearby and I would not hesitate to recommend this experience to friends and family. It would be so fun to do a photoshoot on these little jewel box boats!

Renting a retro boat from Retro Boat Rentals, at Lady Bird Lake is an ABSOLUTE must while in Austin! We visited Austin from VA and decided to rent a super cute retro boat named Trixie. The whole process was so easy and when we got there we were greeted by Tate who was extremely friendly and helpful. When we got to our boat, Sam went through the details in a very comprehensive and patient manner. I had never operated a motorized boat and was a little nervous, but it was super easy to operate and navigate. Trixie was off the hook adorable, in all the pink and vintage pink and white seats to match! Sam and Tate gave us a matching pink blanket and umbrella, along with a Bluetooth speaker to use on our trip. The umbrella was definitely appreciated to keep the sun off of us (as it was extremely hot that day). Plus, it made for a great photo prop! 😁 We took Trixie out to Snake Island and back around the Congress Street Bridge. The trip took about lil over an hour. The boat traveled along at a nice slow and relaxing pace, which was great to enjoy to scenery of the lake and the city. Highly recommend!!! ☺️

The Oasis On Lake Travis is a remarkable dining destination that offers more than just delicious food and drinks. Perched on a cliff, it provides stunning views of Lake Travis from its tiered outdoor decks, making it one of the largest alfresco restaurants in America. Renowned as the Sunset Capital of Texas, it's famous for its breathtaking sunsets over the lake.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Review We decided to visit The Oasis on Lake Travis on a completely spontaneous whim on a Thursday at 3:30 p.m.— and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we made! From the moment we arrived, the place took our breath away. The stunning views of Lake Travis, the warm and lively ambience, and the relaxed energy all came together to create an unforgettable experience. The food was phenomenal! I ordered the Paella, which was full of flavor and beautifully presented, while my companion enjoyed the Stuffed Avocado — both dishes were absolutely delicious. The service was top-notch as well. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and the entire staff made us feel welcome. Even the photographer captured a perfect “memory to remember” picture that we’ll truly cherish. If you ever find yourself near the Lake Travis / Austin area, I highly recommend stopping by The Oasis on Lake Travis. What started as a spontaneous idea turned into an amazing experience — one we definitely didn’t regret!

The place is beautiful, especially for watching the sunset with a stunning view of the lake. If you’re visiting in the summer, it’s best to arrive between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. to avoid the worst heat and still catch the sunset. 🍹 The drinks are really good. 🍽️ The food is just okay—could be better in terms of flavor and presentation. 🙌 The service was excellent, especially considering the waiters have to go up and down stairs in the heat. Our server, Andree, was super kind and attentive the entire time. Definitely worth it for the view and relaxed atmosphere. Great for a calm afternoon with friends or as a couple.

Visiting The Oasis in Austin was such a great experience. From the moment you arrive, the view of Lake Travis is breathtaking, especially at sunset—it’s truly one of the best spots in Texas to catch the sunset. The vibe is super relaxed and fun, with live music on some nights and a very welcoming atmosphere. Service can be a bit slow when it’s crowded, but the staff is always friendly and does their best to make things run smoothly. The food is simple—Tex-Mex and American classics—perfect for enjoying with friends or family. It’s not gourmet, but it works great for a casual outing.

Had a wonderful time with family ! The restaurant is in a perfect spot to enjoy the sunset with a stunning view of the lake and a cold beer 🍺 The best time to visit is in the evening before sunset. There’s a $10 entry fee per person, but it’s redeemable for food or drinks. It’s definitely one of the best places to visit around Austin! It does get very busy, so don’t expect exceptional food — but the beer and atmosphere are fantastic 🍻

The Oasis is definitely one of the best places in Austin to soak in a breathtaking sunset while enjoying a relaxing dinner. The vibe is amazing, especially when sitting on the deck watching the sun set over Lake Travis. The food really pairs well with the view. The vegetable fajitas were fresh and delicious, and the fresh dish paella was surprisingly tasty. Both dishes are perfectly seasoned and satisfying. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot for a scenic meal with friends and family. I’m especially happy to hear that the lady doll on the entrance bench, which had gone missing earlier, is back home. Say hello to her next time visit!

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, located in the heart of Texas Hill Country, is a sanctuary dedicated to preserving and showcasing the beauty of native Texan plants. Founded by former First Lady Lady Bird Johnson, this center offers 12 acres of stunning botanical gardens with over 650 species of wildflowers and plants. Visitors can also enjoy hiking trails and an observation tower for a peaceful retreat into nature. The center's mission is to conserve native plants, create sustainable landscapes, and support diverse wildlife.
I was so excited to go here as I use the Lady Bird website to get help with native plant information (I live in NM). I was not disappointed at all! I spent all day here chasing butterflies, bugs, birds and learning about native Texas wildflowers. It was amazing!

Visited on a grey day with perfect temps, and it turned out to be a really pleasant experience. The garden isn’t huge, but it’s packed with beautiful native Texas flowers and well-maintained trails. It’s definitely a great spot if you’re looking for a peaceful stroll and want to soak in some natural beauty without needing to spend hours wandering. The facilities are nice—clean restrooms, shaded areas, and a solid little café. It’s very family-friendly too. That said, if you’re a hardcore botanical garden enthusiast, there are more expansive and diverse gardens in the area (like the one down in San Antonio), but Lady Bird is still worth a visit, especially for a laid-back day in Austin.
Justin B — Google review
Visited on 8/3/2025 — Free parking was nice, but the $36 entry fee for two adults felt a bit steep for what’s offered. It’s a peaceful, nature-filled spot great for a one-time visit if you enjoy flowers, plants, and walking trails. The moving dinosaur statues were a fun surprise, especially for kids, but there’s no major “wow” factor overall. It’s a simple, calm place . There is lot of place inside wood you can side peacefully — not overly exciting, but worth seeing at least once. Hopefully they’ll add more interactive or engaging activities in the future.

BUT!… I was here 14mo ago and this place was alive with wildlife, families and great staff. I visited today and staff is still nice BUT they’ve turned into a daycare center with hundreds of kids playing kickball and off the trails. (It’s a school day?) There is far better available for free, I probably won’t be back. Kinda sad, Austin has great playgrounds.

What a beautiful, serene place! So many different areas and trails to enjoy. Everything is well marked and easy to navigate with well maintained trails, water fountains and restrooms. Lots of benches! It has a wonderful family area for kids to play, but plenty of quiet paths and gardens if you seek only the sounds of song birds and wind chimes. Austin is very fortunate to have this little piece of heaven in the city and I hope we continue to protect it.

This was a lovely visit to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. There were many beautiful structures and plants. I loved the diverse cactus and succulent population. It was interesting that they mixed dinosaurs with flowers. The tower was my favorite part and the gift shop had a lot of cool stuff.

This place is extremely beautiful. The architecture and gardens are authentic to Texas. The entire property and its many trails are maintained. One issue was parking, and if you plan to come over on a break or weekend, you can spend 10 minutes parking. If you have kids, come on the weekend but if you don't like kids I would suggest coming during the week. This place has a cute cafe, a themed shop, and many activities to do. I loved hearing the windchimes throughout, which sounded wonderful and added to the atmosphere. Overall, it was a splendid experience and activity with the warm weather.

The trail is shaded, peaceful, and lined with greenery great for walking or jogging. I found a bright red wildflower that made the moment even more special. Whether you’re into outdoor workouts, picnics, or just want to relax by the water, Zilker has something for everyone. It’s lively without feeling crowded and offers a real sense of escape right in the middle of the city. Definitely a must-visit when in Austin.

Zilker Park is truly the heart of Austin! 🌳✨ It’s a beautiful, open green space where you can relax, walk, picnic, or just enjoy the skyline views. The park feels alive with people jogging, playing frisbee, walking their dogs, or simply lounging under the trees. Barton Springs nearby is a refreshing bonus, and the walking trails are perfect for soaking in the natural beauty. What I love most is how versatile the park is — whether you want a quiet afternoon with a book, a family picnic, or to catch one of Austin’s famous festivals, Zilker has it all. A must-visit if you want to experience the local vibe of the city.

Ok. Great views, but lots of trash. Not sure why the city neglects this popular site which is visited by many tourist. I also got the feel that petty crime is rampant. Glass is visible from broken car windows. Don’t leave valuables in your car. The city has to do better!

Beatiful ang huge place. You have to pay to use the pools. The public one is a bit dangerous if you want to swim. I think it’s $5 if you live in Austin and $9 if you don’t. No admission fee and there’s a parking lot.

Lots of people but lots of space. Parking wasnt difficult. Walking amd bike trails are great. There are a few detours due to maintenance.

Lady Bird Lake, previously known as Town Lake, is a reservoir created along the Colorado River in 1960. It was renamed in honor of Lady Bird Johnson for her efforts in restoring its natural beauty. The 416-acre lake offers various outdoor activities such as kayaking, rowing, and biking on the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail that encircles its banks. Additionally, visitors can enjoy wildlife viewing and jogging along the trails that stretch for miles on both shores.
My experience is always great! The environment is pretty awesome. The majority of the people there are friendly but never bow down people can be careless, The buddy system is great and encouraging y'all have to experience it yourselves everyday It is a different vibe!!

An absolutely beautiful path to walk, run, bike, or pop on the lake for boarding, kayaking fun. The pathways connect to multiple parks, and have water for you and your pups along the trails.

It’s the place to go for paddle boating, kayaking and bat watching. Bat watching is a must do tourist excursion in Austin. The lake is beautiful and has a park and walkway all around the lake. It’s a nice spot to watch the sunset and the beautiful city!

We visited this place on January 1st and loved it. It’s an enormous park with lots of trails for walking, trekking and cycling. Our dog also had a wonderful time there. We didn’t find any restrooms or placer where to buy refreshments. That is missing, the rest was great!

Nice lake. Lots of places to sit and eat or just sit and relax with a view of the lake. A very nice to ride an electric bike. Regular bikes are not allowed. I was expecting First Lady quality. Free parking.

Paddling on Lady Bird Lake in Austin is a delightful way to experience the city's natural beauty and vibrant atmosphere. It could be a bit more clean in some areas. The calm waters provide the perfect setting for kayaking, paddleboarding, or canoeing, offering stunning views of the downtown skyline, lush greenery, and iconic landmarks like the Congress Avenue Bridge. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced paddler, the lake's serene environment makes for a relaxing outing. Along the way, you might spot turtles, birds, and even the famous bats at sunset. The accessibility of rental services and the friendly local vibe add to the experience. Paddling on Lady Bird Lake is a must-do activity for anyone looking to enjoy Austin's outdoor charm.

Chapel Dulcinea is a beautiful wedding chapel with wonderful staff. The venue was perfect for our 13 person wedding, and the price was very reasonable. We would highly recommend this chapel to others planning a small event like ours!
As a wedding photographer, capturing my first intimate ceremony at Chapel Dulcinea was an absolute dream. The chapel's open-air design, perched atop the Texas Hill Country, offers breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere that's perfect for small weddings. The natural light filtering through the arches creates stunning opportunities for photography, making every moment feel magical. If you’re looking for a wedding venue that is both romantic and unforgettable, Chapel Dulcinea is truly a dream. Nestled just outside of Austin, this chapel offers not only stunning architecture but also breathtaking views of the Texas Hill Country. As a wedding photographer, I’ve had the joy of capturing love stories here, and every time I’m in awe of the scenery. The chapel’s open-air design allows natural light to pour in, creating the perfect setting for timeless photos. From the winding paths leading up to the chapel to the panoramic views, every corner is picture perfect. I feel so blessed to have had this venue for our special day. The chapel and Veranda Room are absolutely stunning! The entire planning process from ordering chairs for the chapel and picking linens to setting up the room and coordinating vendors was a total breeze. It really does feel to good to be true! It truly was stress-free and seamless, and I truly got to enjoy every moment with my closest friends and family. Peak Beverage (their recommended vendor) was amazing to work with, and everything was super easy to set up. A special shoutout to Joe for being a total rockstar on the day of from moving an excavator to adjusting the AC and giving our photographers extra time to cool off in the Groom’s suite. He went above and beyond! This place will always hold a special place in my heart. If you're considering it — do it. You won't regret it!

So dreamy, it was such a surprise to get married here having only seen photographs, the photographs do not capture how truly beautiful the entire landscape is! The beautiful flowers and plants cascade the path way and the view of the beautiful hills are un explainable. On my wedding day, when it was finally seen in person. I know it was beautifully orchestrated as a surprise from the Lord.

Chapel Dulcinea was the perfect venue for our wedding! We couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. The communication was excellent from the venue and the staff was super helpful at all times. The grounds are so gorgeous and the chapel was the perfect size for us. The bridge and groom rooms were very comfortable and cool. The views from the trail and the chapel are stunning and helped make our pictures even more beautiful. If you're looking for an intimate and romantic venue for your wedding, this is the place! And it's so affordable! The other venues we looked at were way overpriced and were more than what we needed. Chapel Dulcinea was perfect in every way. Thank you!!!

Auditorium Shores at Town Lake Metropolitan Park, located in downtown Austin, is a popular urban greenspace with scenic views of Lady Bird Lake and the city skyline. The park features an off-leash dog area, picnic tables, and hosts seasonal events like live music and small festivals. Visitors can enjoy activities such as playing frisbee on the green lawns, walking or jogging along the network of paths, or cycling on the Hike and Bike trail.

The park is a hub for various activities. Auditorium Shores is more than just a park—it’s where Austin shows off. I’ve been here for everything from reggae festivals to food and wine events to surprise concerts during SXSW. The energy is always electric, especially when the music starts and the sun begins to dip behind the skyline. The open space is perfect for big crowds, and the sound carries beautifully across Lady Bird Lake. You can dance barefoot in the grass, lounge on a picnic blanket, or stroll along the trails while catching live sets. Even when there’s no event, it’s a great place to unwind, walk your dog, or catch golden hour by the water. And if you’re visiting during New Year’s or the 4th of July, the fireworks here are awesome! I totally recommend coming to enjoy the stunning display while soaking in the vibrant atmosphere.

Nice park. The grandson had so much fun. I wish they had swings or something to play on in the shade. Bring gloves and thick pants if you want to swing or play on the slides. The water park portion was just the right amount of water for a hot day. Overall such a fun place. Bring turtle food, as the turtles seem well trained to expect something from people that walk out onto the piers.

One of my favorite spots in Austin. The view of downtown from here is amazing, especially around sunset. It’s perfect for a walk, run, or just relaxing by the water. There’s plenty of space for dogs, families, and even small events, but it still feels peaceful. The trail connection makes it super easy to keep walking along Lady Bird Lake. Definitely a must-visit if you want a mix of nature and city vibes in one place.

Park
McKinney Falls State Park, located in Austin where Onion Creek and Williamson Creek meet, is a popular destination for camping, hiking, biking, and fishing. The park features the impressive McKinney Falls as well as 'Old Baldy,' a 500-year-old cypress tree. With over eighty campsites available for reservation at affordable rates, it offers convenient access to outdoor enthusiasts.
My husband and I visited this park on a whim during our last trip to Austin to celebrate family. This park has been glued to my mind since we left. It wasn’t too hot, despite being summer in TX, thanks to the glorious amounts of shade in each area. I loved how grounding it was to be fully immersed in nature while walking the trails, exploring the creek, or diving into the swimming hole. Others at the creek were polite and considerate, adorably sectioned off into each their own little slices of heaven. Something that especially stuck out to me was how the limestone (I think?) rock structure (forgive me, I’m no geologist) serves as a natural “built in” diving board/ladder. There’s a short cliff like ledge that hangs over the water, perfect for cannonballs. It’s mostly solid besides a couple scattered holes sitting in the perfect spots for climbing back up to the stable ground above. While it’s not particularly my kind of fun, it’s a joy watching families splash in together and climb up to do it all over again. Regrettably, we didn’t time manage well enough to spend as many hours here as I would have liked. Now that we know it’s here though, we will come back with plans, booking an entire day, at least, to explore all this park has to offer! Or as much as we can at the very least. :D Will update with more love/pictures when we take our next trip to Austin in October
Chloe — Google review
It was good but there weren’t directions anywhere except a couple of places. If we wanted to go to a specific landmark or trail, we had to guess. Couldn’t find old bald cypress tree because of the lack of directions. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. I really wish the park had more directions to guide the tourists.
Hina S — Google review
We lucked out with light rain, which kept crowds away from the lower falls. To be in the middle of Austin, this park still allows you to separate and feels secluded. We loved that there were plenty of areas away from the trail to tuck away and enjoy the peace along the water. The rock shelves that were used as shelter for people of the past have been well preserved and were unique to this park. Park staff were friendly and attentive and the park facilities were well kept.

We had a great visit, even though were rained out most of the visit. The part is great in it's location if you want to see Austin, but definitely still feels "away". The campground were very nice and the access to Onion Creek to play in the water is wonderful. Unfortunately, we did not get to check out the trails. The staff, facilities, visitors center and all else was great. We'll be back for a visit with better weather!
Nathan B — Google review
An amazing trails, it's easy to get around and has such beautiful sites, it was my first hike and I loved every bit of it. It also gives a history as you go through and it's really lovely so alhamdulillah for this trial. I felt safe and the people on the trails are very kind esp the workers. Thank you 🩷 it took the onion creek trail ( for hiking and bikes )

What a jewel in Austin’s backyard. Quiet, lots of space between camp sites, 50amp for those hot days, big camp area for tents, flat rv sites, friendly hosts and staff. Generally clean save for what comes down the creek. Great trails, history, beautiful falls and rock formations to remind you we are all just renting on mother nature’s property.
Micah R — Google review
This is a beautiful park very close to the city. We arrived late, after dark and set up for a full day of appointments the next day. Unfortunately the campers before is emptied their black tank at the site which was pretty gross. The person at the front gate said they would come clean up, but not until after we leave. So, we shortened our stay and left as soon as possible. We can't really fault the park for the awful behavior of other campers. We never used the bathrooms/showers or laundry while there.

Azul Rooftop is a luxurious open-air lounge located on the 20th floor of The Westin Downtown in Austin. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of downtown Austin, Lady Bird Lake, and the surrounding area. The space features a swimming pool, fire pits, and a full bar serving creative handcrafted cocktails. Guests can relax in luxurious cabanas while enjoying custom cocktails and daily happy hours.
Great place to hangout for drinks. This is our go to spot when guests visit from out of town. No need to stay at the hotel for access. I do recommend to book a table at least a week ahead. They also have a pool.

Beautiful rooftop experience, especially as night fell. It was more of a small plate experience, set in outdoor lounge furniture - comfy but not supportive of you have a bad back. We stared oft with a cheese and corn based dip- esquites- with highly seasoned corn chips. It might have been the highlight. We tried tacos - barbacoa and chicken - both types were delicious. We also tried the la Leche cheesecake and the chocolate mousse. I didn't feel we went wrong with either choice. Service was OK. Could've been a little more attentive, especially since it wasn't busy the night we went. Her first comment was something like, " If you don't like what's on the menu, there's a restaurant downstairs. " Management presence was strong and welcoming, however. Oh- you have to stop at registration to get a key that will get you the elevator ride up to the 20th floor for this experience.

Rented two cabanas for my partner’s birthday, and this place was incredible! The pool wasn’t too busy, the food and drinks were well-priced, and our servers made sure we were taken care of! Sabrina was our main server/bartender and she did such a great job making sure we had everything we needed. She was working hard with other tables/groups and still made sure we were taken care of. Would absolutely come back!

If you're looking for the perfect rooftop escape with stunning views, impeccable vibes, and next-level service, Azul is the place to be. From the moment you step onto the rooftop, you're welcomed into a chic, stylish atmosphere that strikes the perfect balance between relaxed luxury and vibrant energy. What truly elevated our night, though, was the exceptional service – and I have to give a special shoutout to Sabrina, the bartender who made our evening unforgettable. Sabrina is a true professional – warm, welcoming, and effortlessly charismatic. Her knowledge of the cocktail menu was impressive, and her recommendations were spot on. But what really stood out was her genuine hospitality. She made everyone at the bar feel like a regular, remembering names, preferences, and making sure each drink was made with care and creativity. Sabrina’s attention to detail and upscale service set the tone for the entire night. Whether she was crafting a perfectly balanced cocktail or sharing a laugh with guests, she embodied everything you'd want from a high-end lounge experience. Between the stunning skyline views, the ambient music, and Sabrina's top-tier service, Azul isn't just a bar—it's a destination. Can't wait to return!

Situated on the 7th floor of the Fairmont Hotel, Rules & Regs offers stunning views of Austin's cityscape. The bar encourages breaking free from plans and embracing rule-breaking with style. With upbeat music, cigars, and delightful drinks like the Island Hopper, this spot is perfect for escaping the heat. The bright and nautical-themed space includes a spacious outdoor patio with ample shade and a panoramic downtown view.
Went for the Xmas pop up THE UGLY SWEATER BAR and it was incredible. Great service. The hostess/ front desk really took care of me. Loved the experience. And great drinks.

This bar opened on the day we stayed at the Fairmont. Apparently the theme changes according to their tastes several times a year. Yesterday it was a tiki bar. Today it’s an Austin soccer theme. The place is well appointed and decorated. There is plenty of seating inside and out with great views of downtown Austin. The staff were all friendly; service was fabulous! Extensive drink menu but expensive- it is a hotel bar of course! The bar is on the same floor as the pool which you can see from the bar. We had cocktails, then went to dinner somewhere else and came back for apres dinner drinks.. We love this bar; we will definitely be back! Apparently the Christmas theme is great.
MarivicB — Google review
I’ve been to this bar before, before they revamped it with all the Christmas decorations. It looks amazing the way they have it now, there are lights everywhere present boxes on the ceiling, and there’s music, which is in tune with a light show on the wall, pretty cool. We ordered three of the Christmas themed cocktail specials, they were all very delicious. They are very cute, very Instagramable, nice spot to come with friends or a cute date night. They have happy hour every day from 5 to 6 PM, just an hour where they have drinks 50% off. Highly recommend.

I just wanted to leave a quick review regarding our experience this past weekend at Rules and Regs! We typically host team nights one day out of the week. We found this place on google and wanted to check it out for ourselves. So glad that we did! Our server Jairus was so awesome! The service was amazing, he was quick with the drinks and food and I just loved the energy he brought to our table. He was knowledgeable with the menu and helped us pick out some amazing cocktails. Our team will definitely be back in hopes to have Jairus as our server again.

Great vIew, thorough staff, cute decor. While I won’t be rushing back, I can’t say that much was off. Just the bill, and no music on the patio. Otherwise, decor was super cute & we enjoyed the free prize machine & photo props. The only item that was considered safe for GF were the chicken wings. Our party had ordered a variety of dishes and in the end, we all agreed that the only thing worth getting for price and quantity were these delicious spicy honey glazed wings. All the specialty cocktails pre batched and most are made with grain spirits & syrups. I had to beg for them to make something fun with Tequila. It was a process. Bartender did a good job matching the tiki vibe with a special tequila concoction tho.
Carrie H — Google review
Hostess was pleasant and when I arrived for a drink with no reservation seated me on the patio with a lovely view. However it was a little cold as no heat lamps so moved inside. Inside has such lovely festive decor as a holiday pop up bar and great Christmas music. It really was a festive, fun atmosphere. Service was a little slow but my waitress Ava was lovely and friendly. Really enjoyed a happy hour holiday cocktail here and it really got me in the Christmas mood. Lovely place to go alone or with others for a festive drink, I would love to return and would definitely reccomend.

Rules & Regs inside the Fairmont on the 7th floor by the pool has a great patio and view of downtown Austin. Went for drinks and snacks and enjoyed them all. The snack was salmon ceviche which was really good. I got it with tortilla chips which were much better than the chicharrones. Ceviche had great flavor and although it was pricey, I made a good choice. I also had to get the Mexican chocolate pavlova which is similar to a crunchy meringue. For my drink, I got the rebellious gecko which was very refresher. Server wasn’t too attentive but he was new. Very relaxing vibe here. I highly recommend it.

Mueller Lake Park is a central feature of the Mueller neighborhood, offering a large lake surrounded by 30 acres of green space, trails, and recreational facilities. The park aims to ensure that every resident lives within close proximity to a community greenspace. It features an amphitheater, loop trail, picnic area, and a playground for kids with a sculpture of Nessy, the famous Lakeness Dragon.
I absolutely adore this park. It’s spacious, lush, and clean. It’s dog-friendly, with a beautiful lake and a variety of geese and other birds. There’s a large picnic area, public restrooms, and a playground for kids. There are also plenty of parking spots available. Occasionally, on weekends and holidays, local musicians perform live music.

It’s a nice medium size park with lake! You can walk around the water area or rest under the trees as they have many benches! If you like birds and you’ll enjoy bird watching since there are many ducks and all kinds of birds there! Come and chill! Cheers 🥂

This park is my favorite place to hang out with friends and walk my dog. There’s a beautiful picnic area where we enjoy nice walks, especially when the sun comes out. It also has a great playground for children. This park is my go-to spot when I need a peaceful walk or a break. There’s plenty of free parking next to the park, including a parking garage. It’s also surrounded by lots of restaurants where you can grab a quick bite or drink. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to relax, take a walk, or spend time with friends. I had the chance to go to the Water Lantern Festival in Austin here at Mueller Lake Park , and it was absolutely beautiful. Everyone wrote messages, hopes, or memories on lanterns and released them onto the water. When the sun went down and all the lanterns started floating and glowing, it felt magical ,peaceful, emotional, and full of meaning. It was such a special experience to share with others. Seeing all those lights on the water felt like a reminder of connection, love, and letting go. If you ever get the chance to go, I highly recommend it.

This park is beautiful! The lake/pond has so many ducks and turtles, and the landscaping is perfect for pictures. There's an area with a vine-covered gazebo with trees and columns, another sculpture-like gazebo thats also great for pictures. There's an open lawn area with shade trees not far from the water that are perfect for picnics, and then there are picnic tables under trees so it's comfortable. I'll definitely come back to this park!

American restaurant
Nido, located within The Loren, offers an unforgettable Easter Brunch experience with a seasonal menu blending French American culture and Texas Hill Country techniques. Guests can enjoy a Mimosa flight, coffee, tea, and juices from 7 AM to 2:30 PM daily. The restaurant provides breathtaking sunset views and excellent service. While some dishes lacked flavor, the appetizers and desserts were highlights. Nido's ambiance makes it a favorite spot in Austin for hanging out with friends.
Nido restaurant is located on the top floor of the Loren Hotel Austin. Nido means “nest” 🪺 in Spanish. You definitely get a “trendy treehouse” vibe while dining—especially if you’re lucky enough to dine on the terrace. We had a delicious breakfast meal on the terrace, and their room service for dinner! I’m not sure which I liked more! Firstly, the room service comes quickly and directly from the restaurant. The roasted chicken I’ve had twice. Both times it was extremely juicy, tender, and flavorful. It is garnished with some leafy greens, wild rice, and a touch of mouthwatering gravy. The potato écrasé was a less mashed version of mashed potatoes accompanied with dill, chives, and pickled mustard seed. I added their sumac yogurt to the potatoes for an extra kick! I recommend asking for this addition-quite spectacular! Then, I finished the dinner with their 🍨 gelato which was comparable to true Italian gelato you can only get by air-travel! The breakfast was equally delicious: eggs, sourdough toast, potatoes, yogurt smoothie, and great drip coffee. Without asking they brought yellow bird spicy sauce which was a great addition to the potatoes and egg. Definitely come check out Nido on your next dining experience!

The view, the food, and the service — everything was amazing! Dave helped us choose and we were so grateful we tried all those options. Thank you, Dave! He paid so much attention to us - I wasn’t feeling well that day, and he made sure I felt better and comfortable throughout the evening. He was truly so attentive that I just had to mention his service separately. I can tell the restaurant is run by great managers — the menu, the atmosphere, and the staff training are all outstanding. I spend a lot of time in Europe and usually compare restaurants to the high standards there — and this one absolutely stands out. It’s on the same level, which is rare to find in the U.S. I will definitely come back one day❤️

We went to Nido for my birthday dinner, views were fabulous. Our waiter was Dave, his recommendations were very thoughtful and his seemed very knowledgeable about wine and food pairings. Definitely will come back for that experience..

I really was hoping for better, but unfortunately everything about this place just kept missing(or trying too hard). From sit-down to food order was 20 min(eh), the hamachi appetizer had great fish quality but a melon sauce sweet enough for dessert, the boar lasagna had quite good boar but was overly spicy and oddly slimy(I think a function of the cheese) and the “all American banana split” had great caramelized bananas but only low quality vanilla ice cream(I am sorry but a banana split must have strawberry, chocolate and strawberry). If you are staying at the hotel and you have your $100 Amex credit to use…ok. Or if you have a patio reservation and have a cocktail and app looking at the view…great. But for dining, there are far higher quality meals at better prices available in close proximity, definitely feel like I wasted my money for poor quality here.

Can't really say much for this place, unfortunately. We came for a dinner and ordered the brussel sprouts, which they serve essentially uncooked on purpose, and the rest of the options we got were all fairly forgettable. The dessert was also pricey and not worth it. It was also packed that day and our server wasn't able to make it to our table very often, which wasn't the fault of the servers, but still didn't help, especially when we tried to raise our hands to get their attention, had them look at us, acknowledge us, and then not bother coming to the table. Also, the ambience wasn't very enjoyable because it was so packed, it was hard to hear over the noise of the music and everyone else talking. Also, for a high end restaurant that charges what it does, the fact that it has paper napkins is a bit of an odd choice. Really the best thing it has going for it is the view.

I planned a proposal here for my client. The staff was very help and accommodating. It was easy for me to make a reservation. The client was looking for a great rooftop view of Austin, and Nido delivered! The staff let me know there is only one elevator up to the restaurant, and I made sure to get there earlier than the client's reservation so I could hide. The rooftop space made a great backdrop for the proposal, and we were able to take nice photos by the bar too. I will continue to recommend Nido for proposals!

Scenic spot
Pennybacker Bridge Overlook, also known as the 360 Bridge, offers breathtaking views of Lake Austin and the downtown skyline. The trail to the overlook provides a bit of a climb, so it's advisable to wear appropriate footwear and arrive early due to its popularity. The spot is perfect for hikers of all levels and promises an incredible sunset view. Located at 5300 N Capital of Texas Hwy, this iconic structure is a must-visit for anyone seeking stunning vistas in Austin.
Been bringing dates here since I could crawl! The view is stunning and always a pleasure to share the experience with. The littering has significantly improved but still persists. It’s a small hike to the top and definitely not ADA compliant but very much worth carrying her to the top if you should so dare attempt. Humidity was rough Saturday morning so don’t expect to spend more than 30 minutes here. It gets busy so plan your trip accordingly.
Kantian R — Google review
Scenic spot for some amazing pictures. You get a perfect skyline view of the city and the river. Also overlooking the golf course as well. There are spots to park, but if its busy those spots can fill up fast especially in the evenings potentially. Its a short walk up the side to the top but we'll worth the views.
Ngawang S — Google review
This place is gorgeous! Worth the little hike up for the gorgeous views, there's no barriers so be careful with the edges especially with the little ones! There's some parking at the bottom, and even people selling some grilled foods like corns in a temporary stall setup, but be careful not to drive your car too far in, seen some people get their car stuck in the dip.
Sventek — Google review
The Pennybacker Bridge, affectionately known by locals and visitors alike as the "360 Bridge," transcends its function as a mere thoroughfare; for me, it embodies a profound sense of awe and continuous discovery. Having resided in Austin for over 15 years, the captivating panorama that unfolds with each crossing remains as fresh and astonishing as my very first encounter. Its striking architectural design, characterized by a distinctive, graceful arch, spans the shimmering expanse of the Colorado River, effortlessly framing and enhancing the already breathtaking vistas of the surrounding Texas Hill Country. This iconic landmark not only serves as a vital artery connecting the city but also stands as a testament to the seamless integration of human ingenuity and natural beauty, offering a constant reminder of Austin's unique charm and the serene grandeur of its landscape. For many, the "Pennybacker Bridge Overlook" is the perfect Saturday morning escape after a night out in Austin's vibrant nightlife. It’s a truly special place to witness a peaceful, quiet sunrise. From there, you can gaze at the magnificent Pennybacker Bridge, watch the Colorado River flow serenely underneath, and observe the boats and jet skis crossing by. It's a moment of tranquility that brings a calming end to an exciting night and creates an unmatched memory of their time in Austin, truly encapsulating the unique blend of urban sophistication and natural charm that Austin embodies.
Haythem H — Google review
It was a really nice place. I would say that people of all ages, including kids, can go there and enjoy a great view of the bridges and mountains. There's a small hill that takes about five minutes to climb, and from the top, you can have a lovely view with your friends. The food, including fries and fruits, is available at the bottom near the freeway. However, parking can be difficult to find; it’s a small cut-out area that isn’t paved. You need to be careful when parking, but other than that, it's definitely a nice place to visit.
BINITA R — Google review
Despite nearby construction and subsequent traffic congestion, what a lovely spot to visit if you enjoy scenic views of Austin. It’s a super short, rocky hike up to the lookout point that will take you 10 mins at most. Surprised it didn’t have guardrails as there were some beer cans scattered/hidden throughout, which fortunately made the views that much better. With limited parking, highly recommend you go during the weekday or early weekend as there’s limited parking. Pictures don’t it justice and more impressive in person. @mykoreaneats

“The view is stunning, but can’t stay there for more than 10 minutes. The traffic noise kills any chance of peace 😄

Visiting never gets old. The view from the overlook above Pennybacker Bridge is one of the best in Austin—especially around sunrise or sunset. It's a short, slightly rocky hike up, but totally worth it. Great spot for photos, relaxing, or just taking in the scenery. Parking can be tight on weekends, so go early if you can. A must-see if touring, and a peaceful go-to if you're local!

The Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge in Austin, Texas is a popular spot for pedestrians and cyclists, offering stunning views of the city skyline and Lady Bird Lake. The bridge has become known for its ever-changing graffiti messages on the nearby Lamar train bridge, providing unique selfie opportunities. Spanning across Lady Bird Lake, this iconic bridge offers a perfect vantage point to capture Austin's striking architecture against the shimmering water.
Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge is a true hidden gem and one of the most beautiful spots in Austin! I highly recommend visiting in the early morning for a peaceful walk along Lady Bird Lake or in the evening to catch breathtaking sunsets over the Austin skyline. The view of the lake during sunset is nothing short of amazing! Around dusk, you might catch the spectacle of bats flying overhead — a quintessential Austin experience. The bridge is a fantastic spot to soak in the city’s vibrant atmosphere, with locals gathering to play music, fly drones, listen to talented musicians, or share a picnic. Whether you’re a local or a first-time visitor, this bridge perfectly encapsulates what Austin is all about. It’s serene and scenic while being lively and full of energy. Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture the stunning views of downtown and the Colorado River. Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge is a solid 10/10 for me, and I’ll absolutely visit every time I’m in Austin. It’s easy to get to, has an amazing vibe, and offers an unforgettable experience. Just a gentle reminder — please pick up after yourself and help keep Austin clean!💕
Kayla M — Google review
If you’re in Austin and looking for the perfect place to unwind in the evening, the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge is a must-visit. We went there just before sunset, and the experience was nothing short of magical. As the sun began to dip below the horizon, the entire skyline lit up in shades of orange, pink, and purple, reflecting beautifully off the still waters of Lady Bird Lake. The bridge itself is wide, clean, and peaceful—ideal for a relaxed walk or a casual bike ride. There’s something calming about being surrounded by water and trees while still having views of the downtown skyline. It truly feels like you’re in the heart of the city and yet away from all the noise. The people you meet along the way—runners, families, dog walkers, and photographers—add to the friendly and welcoming vibe. One of the best parts was pausing midway through the bridge and just taking it all in. There are benches where you can sit and enjoy the breeze, and the occasional musician playing soft acoustic tunes nearby made the atmosphere even more serene. As night falls, the bridge lights up just enough to keep it safe while preserving the charm of the night sky. We even spotted kayakers paddling quietly below, adding to the laid-back, picturesque scene. Whether you’re visiting Austin or have lived here your whole life, the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge offers an evening escape that feels special every single time. It’s perfect for solo reflection, a romantic walk, or just soaking in Austin’s unique energy. Highly recommended!

Truly an Austin experience not to be missed! Just an absolute beautiful piece of Austin and I recommend getting up first thing in the morning running alongside the lake and then crossing the bridge to the other side, all the wall making sure to check out the herons and other wildlife you're bound to run across!
Caroline B — Google review

The soccer fields are really nice and there is plenty of parking. There is what seems to be like a permanent construction/landscaping project going on but otherwise really nice
Ivan F — Google review
This is definitely a well used and well maintained pedestrian bridge. Both walking and bike friendly. Connects to the trail on both sides of the lake/river. Also great views from the bridge of downtown and the river. There are plenty of benches on the bridge so it can be a hangout spot as well as a connector.
Hannah ( — Google review
Love this little pedestrian only bridge! Connects the two trails on either side of the river, has an off leash dog park on one side. Multiple ways to get on/off with an accessible ramp, stairs, and even a longer walkway that goes further to yet another green area and dog park Gorgeous views too, can watch the river and sunset from here and admire the skyline

Butler Metro Park is a delightful urban oasis that offers a perfect blend of nature and recreation right by Lady Bird Lake. This winding park features scenic walking paths, vibrant green spaces ideal for picnics, and even a mini-golf course for some lighthearted fun. Families will love the splash pad fountain, which attracts kids looking to cool off on warm days. The park also boasts an impressive observation hill that provides stunning views of the Austin skyline and the lake below.
We absolutely love this park. It's great for big and little kids. The only complaint I have is how upsetting it is to see all the trash floating in the ponds and seeing unsupervised kids fishing the area that's 99% turtles. One time we left as it was too upsetting to my 2 yr old grandson to see.
Shay H — Google review
Butler Metro Park is such a gem—like a smaller, more kid-focused version of Zilker. The open grassy fields are great for picnics, playing tag, or just relaxing in the shade. The playground (part of the Alliance Children’s Garden) is huge and super creative, with colorful equipment for all ages and a splash pad to beat the Texas heat. It’s in a great spot too—right next to Auditorium Shores and not far from Barton Springs. One of my favorite things here is the gorgeous view of the downtown Austin skyline, especially during sunset. You’ll also find swings, shaded seating, and wide open space to just breathe and enjoy the outdoors. Definitely recommend it for families, visitors with kids, or anyone looking to enjoy a peaceful green space with a great view of the city. That said, Like many public parks, you might see some unhoused folks around, especially at night, and the restrooms probably aren’t the cleanest (I didn’t use them, but others have pointed that out).

Hidden Gem 💎 Hidden in plain sight! Butler Metro Park is a great place to see the city. Very spacious and hugs the river. Pro Tip: This is a great place to park if you want to go to Terry Blacks, Parmer Event Center, and Long Horn Center. 10/10 Trees 🌳
T P — Google review
This park offers so many different plah areas for kids. There's so many shades areas and benches, such a nice park to get together with family and friends. The only downside about this is the parking lot. What's there for the park itself there isnt too many spots so it fills very fast. A lot of people park there and walk to the restaurants across so definitely have patience if coming here. Overall, we've come here from San Antonio and this is what we're missing here, a park this great and clean.
Melanie G — Google review
Cool playground with several different play styles. Rock climbing, rope climbing, slides, splash pad etc. cute trails to walk with little docks over the lake. Beautiful scenery.
Destini S — Google review
Great park for kids and adults. There is a splash pad, rope course that is almost scary tall, some hobbit-style underground tunnels, awesome slides and musical instruments that even the most novice can master without too much effort. There's also a very peaceful pond and of course the big hill overlooking the whole place and the city skyline. A beautiful spot for a romantic picnic or celebrating a child's birthday, or even a spontaneous photo shoot. My only complaint is that the public restrooms that are located near the rope course jungle gym thing, are super duper insanely gross. There are porta-potties available in the adjacent parking area, but I didn't even try those after seeing the condition of the brick & mortar option 🤮 I literally felt the need to disinfect my shoes before entering my car again.

Excellent weather to be in. My son wanted to show me this cool place and we were lucky we got parking. Free parking but weary as there’s a countdown board of last days of card break in (current 2 days on the board when we came tonight) lit areas, basketball court is well lit and being used by young adults. Decent crowd. Apparently lesser people on the net than usual so we got lucky.

Nestled just outside of Austin, Villa Antonia is a stunning wedding venue that transports you to the enchanting landscapes of Italy. This expansive estate boasts over 5,000 square feet of indoor space and features breathtaking outdoor areas, including scenic terraces and a charming gazebo surrounded by lush gardens. The European-inspired architecture enhances its allure, making it an ideal spot for both intimate ceremonies and grand celebrations.
Villa Antonia is a rare gem. As a wedding photographer I've captured a lot of different venues but this one stands out. The architecture is gorgeous, the hill country views are incredible, the management is extremely kind & accommodating and there are SO many great photo spots (both indoors and outdoors). If you're dreaming of a European wedding in Texas, this is your venue – every wedding I've captured here has been an absolute dream. My husband and I even had our own wedding photos taken here. Highly recommend!
Camilla K — Google review
Villa Antonia will take your breath away! From the first time we visited the venue as we were planning our wedding, we knew we had found the perfect place to host our reception. Amy was so helpful in answering our questions as we navigated through the planning process. Once the day finally arrived, we received nothing but compliments from our wedding guests. We had a Catholic wedding so we only needed the venue for the reception. The staff were amazing from start to finish. Highly recommend Villa Antonia if you are searching for a unique venue that allows your guests to feel like they’ve been transported to the Italian countryside for an evening. It was the perfect place for family and friends to connect, enjoy a night of romance, and escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
Judy F — Google review
Wow, wow, and wow! This is hands down the most stunning Tuscan-style venue I've ever seen in Texas. I attended a wedding here in June, and it was breathtaking. The ceremony overlooked the venue's gorgeous views, creating the perfect backdrop for such a special moment. After the ceremony, we headed downstairs for cocktail hour while the newlyweds took photos. The overall setup was flawless—definitely, a picture-perfect venue that will fill up your camera roll. The wedding reception layout was beautiful, though I did feel that guests seated on the far side of the room couldn't see the top table very well. It might have been better to position it more centrally to improve visibility. The food was incredible! They served a Mediterranean-style buffet featuring grilled vegetables, fresh salads, grilled chicken, and fish—everything was delicious. From start to finish, the wedding was nothing short of amazing. The staff were friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall experience. I can see why this venue is likely fully booked during wedding season—it's truly a gem, and I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting to host their special day here!

Villa Antonia was a dream venue! If you are looking for Italian, elopement vibes with natural beauty but without the hassle of traveling abroad, this is your place. You really do not need a lot of extra decor and florals because this place is stunning as is. You get access to the entire villa, with both indoor and outdoor options (which was very important to us in case of inclement weather). You can really customize the venue to fit your needs. It was also very clean, well kept (indoors and out!), and smells amazing. From the beginning of touring, to booking a date, all the way to the final walk through and wedding day, the staff was extremely helpful and kind. I could not recommend this place more!

From the sprawling hill country views to the dramatic architecture and golden-hour lighting, Villa Antonia is a dream location for storytelling through film. The team at the venue was helpful and professional, ensuring a seamless timeline that allowed me to capture each moment with intention and artistry. TJ and Cara’s connection, their joyful energy, and the emotional moments throughout the day made this highlight film one of my favorites to date. I’m proud to have delivered a piece that lets them relive the magic over and over again. If you're looking for a wedding venue that elevates every angle—and a videographer passionate about capturing the story—Villa Antonia and I are a perfect pair.

Tau Ceti, the tallest public artwork in Austin, is a mesmerizing mural by Josef Kristofoletti. Inspired by a star in the constellation Cetus similar to Earth's sun, this 10-story masterpiece brings vibrant color to the once dull corner of Brazos and East Second streets. Visitors flock to capture selfies against its radiant backdrop. The concept behind Tau Ceti is the reflection of light in rainbow colors through windows and into buildings, creating a cosmic and magical ambiance.
They painted the corner gap of a building with a rainbow pattern. It looks cool and definitely makes the neighborhood more attractive.

Uchi Austin is a stylish and sophisticated Japanese restaurant located in South Lamar, known for its celebrity visitors and fine dining experience. Executive chef Tyson Cole's extensive training under sushi masters in Tokyo, New York, and Austin has resulted in a culinary mainstay that offers high-quality fish flown in daily from Tokyo's Tsukiji fish market. While the prices may be on the higher side, the exceptional creativity and quality of the menu make it worth every penny.
From the moment we stepped into Uchi Austin, my husband and I knew we were in for something special, and it exceeded every expectation. Thank you for the recommendation #Grok4—this was a dining experience we’ll be raving about back in Tampa Bay! Emma and the entire Uchi team were nothing short of exceptional. Their warmth, knowledge, and genuine passion for the food created an atmosphere that felt both welcoming and elevated. Emma took the time to listen to our flavor preferences and curated a wonderful omakase experience that was perfectly tailored to our tastes. The pacing of the meal was impeccable, each course arriving just as we were ready to savor the next, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the artistry of every dish. Every bite was a yum😋 , showcasing Uchi’s signature balance of fresh, high-quality ingredients and innovative flavor combinations. Standouts included the **Otoro Nigiri**, a silky, melt-in-your-mouth masterpiece that was pure decadence. The **Masu Crudo** (ocean trout) was a highlight with its buttery texture. The **Lobster in Coconut Green Curry** was an intriguingly balanced dish, with the creamy coconut and vibrant curry complementing the tender lobster perfectly. The **Namahotate** (dayboat scallop) nigiri, was clean & buttery sweet with a hint of sea salt. And last but not least, the Pork Belly in delicate chili broth, accented with fragrant basil and cilantro, was a savory, herby delight that left us smiling. The attention to detail, from the stunning presentation to the seamless service, made this evening truly memorable. Uchi Austin is more than a restaurant—it’s a celebration of culinary creativity and hospitality. Thank you, Emma and team, for an extraordinary experience that will have us dreaming of on our next visit from the #tampabay! #uchiaustin #ThirdHome #bridgetbrelandrealtor #austinfoodies

This was a very cute restaurant overall with great food. The food was so fresh and the fish were so tender. The only thing that we weren’t a fan of was that every nigiri piece you order comes with some type of topping which some were wonderfully paired while others missed the mark. Every type of salmon they had was hands down the best salmon we’ve ever had. Drinks were great as well. We were sat in the aisle in a high top area which was fine- although it was extremely dark so impossible to read anything. Overall, a great restaurant with great food and good prices for what you get!

This food was great, our favorites were the cold plates full of amazing textures and flavors. Desert is not to be skipped here so leave some room. I love trying new places when I come to Austin and this is not too be missed and also the sister restaurant up the road which fusses bbq and Asian is unreal I visit there last year.

I've eaten here many times. I've been to many different sushi restaurants. This place and the quality of flavors are amazing. Everything is really great. This is where you go to in Austin for Great sushi. It's so close to downtown, so I wish they had a better view of the city. The food is the star here.

Uchi was a fantastic place to visit as a tourist. The food and service was excellent and I would say it was good value for the price point (about $100 a head for a a group of 5, including a round of drinks). I would recommend booking as it does get busy.

This is one of my favorite sushi spots in the country. I took my cousin who just moved here, and she even said it was one of the best sushi spots she’s been to! The food is amazing and the fish is so fresh. The staff is so kind and knowledgeable! If you go, ask for Joe as a server. We usually just ask our server what they like and he listened to our tastes and things we didn’t like and delivered a spot on perfect meal for us. From appetizers to sushi to the incredible desert, Joe nailed it and knew exactly what we would like. Even the other staff who weren’t out waiters cleared table constantly and made recommendations. Justus, was also very helpful and was so on point. GET THE NEW BANANA CHOCOLATE CAKE! It’s to die for! So is the coconut tapioca desert! If you like amazing food, even better service, and an amazing atmosphere, goto UCHI!

Wow what an experience! I recommend getting the omakase, its 10 courses and staff is accomidating! Highlighting a few, but so many textures and flavors going into each bite! If you have never been, please check it out! Staff was amazing, cannot recommend enough!

I haven’t been to Uchi in quite some time. The sushi was just as I remembered. Truly can’t get any better. We made a mistake this time and ordered the tasting menu (it’s always so tempting because of the price) and it had too many cooked dishes for our liking. And yes, the server tried to warn us so nobody’s fault but our own. We ordered a few more sushi bites to compensate and we were happy with the outcome ☺️Next time, I won’t wait so long to revisit.

Hiking Trails
Barton Creek Greenbelt is a beloved urban natural area in Austin, offering various outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, swimming, and rock climbing. The greenbelt boasts over 12 miles of scenic trails with lush surroundings and serene swimming holes. It features soaring limestone cliffs and is a favorite spot for nature enthusiasts in the city. The main trail stretches more than 7 miles from Barton Springs Pool to Westlake, while there are also shorter and easier trails suitable for families with young children.
It was a great hike. We hiked about 5 miles and there were easy parts and a little hard parts if you are considering going with your toddler.
Kerime H — Google review
It's a great place for a bike. The water is dried out now but it's still beautiful. Make sure you don't leave any valuables in the car, there's plenty of parking but the lot isn't secured, and there were lots of break ins - you can literally see pieces of car glass on the ground.
Maria B — Google review
Review of the Barton Creek Greenbelt (Mopac Access Trailhead) The Barton Creek Greenbelt is one of Austin’s most treasured urban escapes, and the trail from the Mopac (Loop 1) parking area is a perfect way to experience it. This out-and-back trail offers a mix of shaded canopy, limestone cliffs, and peaceful creekside stretches, making it a go-to for nature lovers, fitness hikers, and especially dog owners. Trail Overview The route begins at the Mopac trailhead, which is easy to access with ample parking most of the year. From there, you’ll follow a winding path into the heart of the Greenbelt. It’s a down-and-back trail, meaning you’ll descend into the Greenbelt early on and face a bit of a climb on the return—more on that in a bit. The trail is moderately trafficked, but it rarely feels overcrowded, and there’s plenty of space for everyone to find a pocket of peace. 7 Falls & Water Levels A highlight of this section is 7 Falls, a beautiful rock formation with cascading pools. However, water presence here is highly dependent on recent rainfall. After a good rain (typically in spring or fall), the pools fill and offer not just scenery but also a cooling-off spot for dogs. In drier months like late summer, the falls can be bone dry, so check recent weather or water level reports if that’s a must-see. Dog-Friendly Vibes This trail is extremely dog friendly. Off-leash is technically allowed in certain parts of the Greenbelt (though always check for updates), and you’ll see many happy pups splashing in the creek or trotting alongside their humans. Just bring plenty of water for both of you in the warmer months. Best Times to Go For optimal conditions, aim for early mornings or late afternoons during spring and fall. The Texas heat can be intense in summer, and though the trail has plenty of shade, the climb out can be punishing if you hit it during the heat of the day. In cooler months, it’s a much more forgiving trek and still beautiful, even when the water is low. The Stairway to the Gods The final stretch—affectionately known as the Stairway to the Gods—is a steep, rocky incline that hits just when you think you’re done. It’s a solid workout, and your calves will definitely feel it. But once you reach the top, there’s a nice sense of accomplishment—and if you’re using apps like Seek for plant ID or Merlin for bird calls, pausing along the way can be a great excuse to catch your breath. Final Thoughts Whether you’re after a solid workout, a peaceful walk with your dog, or a slow-paced exploration with nature apps in hand, the Barton Creek Greenbelt from the Mopac entrance delivers. It’s a little slice of Hill Country beauty tucked right inside the city—and it never gets old.

Violet Crown Trail and Barton Creek Greenbelt Trail Loop. The combination of the Barton Creek Greenbelt, with the Violet Crown Trail, offer fantastic interactions with nature. Taken all together, it's about an 8.5 mile loop, but you can go straight to and from Twin Falls and Sculpture Falls. The trails are typically in great shape, but do narrow a bit and can be overgrown if you take a side trail. You may encounter the occasional fallen limb, but the beauty of the area, especially Sculpture Falls and Twin Falls (when they have water) make this a beautiful worthwhile hike. One of my favorites in Austin.
Dan G — Google review
Gorgeous views and a pretty easy hike/run with the proper ankle protection. Several swimming holes to relax in and tons of shade! Only thing, better trail markers/maps on the trail would be awesome.
Jordan E — Google review
Nature filled, beautiful and sportive trail for all ages ! Mix of everything - trees, creek, waterfalls ! The multiple waterfalls on the trail are very refreshing. You may also walk on the rocks in the middle of the creek. The trail path is paved but rough for buggies and fancy shoes! Suitable only for walking. The trail runs for few miles. Car parking is on the street side but it’s not with heavy traffic. Beware of not leaving valuables in the car.

It was my first time here. Food and drink was great. House made crackers were served. Service was great; the servers were very friendly. Great to talk to. Atmosphere was also great. Really beautiful. We went to go watch the bats fly out as well. It was amazing. The bats came out maybe 15 minites after sunset time.

The view is absolutely beautiful—perfect for a relaxing weekend meal. I ordered the salmon bowl, which was super flavorful and fresh. The portions were just right. I also had the Miami Nice cocktail—it was delicious, light, and flavorful without being heavy. The atmosphere is great, and reservation is highly recommended—it gets busy! Would definitely come back.

We came here with a reservation on a Saturday night and were seated immediately on the patio. We had a nice table however the service was not good. Our first server took a while to greet us and when we asked for bottled water (the tap water tastes like dirty dishes) she came by again to confirm that we had to pay for bottled water. She brought our cocktails and the mezcal negroni was bad. After speaking with the bartender about their mezcal selections and ordering a new drink, we were passed off to another server without being notified. Our second server Toddy was nice and checked on us multiple times. He recovered our experience here. We ordered the cheese board and Caesar salad. Both items were just ok, I liked the cheese board more. The old fashioneds we ordered were really sweet. The view/ambiance was nice but won’t be back.

I ordered the market fish dish on the menu and they served me scallops lol, not sure when scallops became a fish group! Having said that the food tasted good, although the portions were definitely very small. I also tried the sufi swirl desert since I had space from the tiny dinner portion, and it was very pretty but tasted only ok. Beautiful views of the river and bridge though. Price guide (as of Sep 2025): Market "fish" $28 White wine $18 Sufi swirl $10 Tax $4.63

The drinks were okay. They had a lot of that pellet ice, and what felt like little alcohol. I don't know why restaurants use that ice because it melts and dilutes the drink so much quicker. The food was amazing, especially the charcuterie board. The staff was average, friendly but there were moments you wondered where they were when you wanted to order something more.

P6 is where Austin goes to flirt with itself—sunset views, sexy cocktails, and that smug little “yeah, we’re that pretty” attitude. Perched atop The Line Hotel, this spot delivers sweeping downtown and river views so good they practically come with their own influencer filter. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch the bats at dusk doing their dramatic group exit like it’s the Final Rose Ceremony for insects. We just did drinks (A+), but the Caesar salad and charcuterie boards were working the runway hard. Massive drink list—wine, beer, cocktails—all curated like a bougie adult playground. Service was flawless. Ambience? Basically a rooftop love letter to Austin. Returning ASAP with a bib and zero shame.

If there is sincerity in what you are doing it will show. If there is integrity in what you are doing it will also show. I want to preface what I will say by saying that our school is a liberal arts university and a Holy Cross university. If you are a student who likes to study and values original thought, then St. Edward's was the proper place for you. During our orientation last year it was promised that we would be supported as students by our school President, Faculty, and staff. They wanted us to succeed. There are very many ways to study here and the had supported this. However, when the school said that I would have to pay $2060 for a meal plan that I would never use, I asked questions. The school said that there was nothing that they could do, because it was the school iD card office who attends to this matter. Even though I mentioned that I cook my own food, don't eat meat, or eat on campus, they insisted that I pay for that meal plan. I prayed about it, and talked with my Pastor. You see, the impression that the iD card office gave is that they do not see beyond this view they have. It is this view and no other. The staunch, immovable, myopic type of view. Students like me who are budgeting and working through school with two to three jobs, using good critical thinking, wisdom to graduate on time. They can't see even that. I think about my relatives, here and abroad who don't even spend $1 on food a day. I know that I don't spend $2060 on meals in one semester. I have always cooked my own food. I am a very quiet student, who will sit down and study, but they picked on me because I think for myself. The value I place on my education, and education that will help me help myself, and my relatives, is more than this meal plan cost. As an upperclassmen in our school, I have a responsibility to tell the truth in hope that the school will take these views seriously. I see you supporting our educational efforts but what about the ones who don't? Instead to trying to veer away from the culture of misinformation and racism that economically affected us since last year, they, the few, still hold to that view. The few people in our school who refuse to even see what Holy Cross means are applying pressure and their views in ways that affects students. They are in the iD card office, the safety office, and maintenance and have given me that impression at times. You are here but you don't really understand what Jesus Christ did on the cross. Attend one maybe two church services or mass, sit down and talk with the Priest, or the Pastor or even some of the staff at our school to fully understand what Holy Cross means. You know it is that there is something about the school that made students come here. This is my way of rebuking. The few people who are here that picked on students like me did so because they are part of racism and misinformation culture. The world is tiny in their eyes, but no it is a much bigger place. Stop pretending and put away your racism and prejudice, because the values that drew students like me to study here for the fews years we are here, THOSE VALUES WILL ENDURE BEYOND ANY RACISM.

Booked time and had a lovely walk through UT, a haven of greenery, few cars and green areas just as a University campus should be. The Art venue and installation of «The Color Inside» is a much needed thing for Austin and one of those moments in life where we reflect and become aware. It was cool. The directions on the website were good and you can just GPS it and it is actually accurate. I gave 4 stars because I thought the sun was going to be changing the colors inside...but the lights are changing colors. It also was very hot when we went and I was tired of sweating!!! I would go again when it cools off i think.

It’s all the way at the top of the building on the roof. What makes this piece special compared to some similar ones is the colored lights event in the evenings. Be sure to book a viewing for the light show in the evening in advance because it can fill up. Reservations open one day in advance. Other times of day though the space is open to general public and has a wide range of hours.

Located on the northern shore of Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas, the Texas Rowing Center offers a variety of water activities for all ages. In addition to being a training and education center for rowers, it also provides kayak and paddleboard rentals. The center is popular among locals and visitors alike, offering easy access to the lake and nearby street parking.
Came here with a friend of mine, we had such an amazing time. Staff was super nice and understanding about it being our first time paddle boarding. Their parking isn’t all that great but there’s a school nearby you can use their parking lot to be in, me and my friend were there for about 2-3hrs. We initially got it for just one hour, but we went a little bit over the time that was reserved for which they were super understanding about it and only charged us for half an hour instead of a full hour extra. Would recommend coming here again!

I appreciated that the parking was accessible but not that we had to pay for it. Also the restrooms are porta-potties only :/ Besides that the customer service was good and they had a lot of equipment available. The area can be seaweed heavy but once you get further out it kinda clears out. There's a good little spot that allows you to get out of your equipment and stand up where the water is knee deep. The views of the city are also nice

Fun oportunity with the kids. The kayaks were nice for open kayaks. Little pricy for an hour rental $15 for a kayak especially when you need 4. They Should give options for a 2or3 hour rate and small group rates so everyone can have a better experience without rushing to get back on time so not to be charged. Seems to be the best place in town to rent kayaks though

I had a great early morning sunrise visit, I liked that the center opens nice and early. Plenty of parking nearby and the price was very reasonable. I did have to wait a little to get checked in but it was quite busy despite being early. Once I was greeted, I was quickly taken through the waiver and I was able to leave my backpack with the team to look after. Great kayak for my needs and decent paddle. The lake is great and really calm - I'm not massively experienced, but I was very comfortable paddling. I headed left towards the city and caught the sunrise over the skyline. The location has a cool duality, city but also plenty of nature. I loved my visit and would definitely use this company again.

Customer service could have been more helpful. It wasn’t always clear who to approach for guidance, and the staff didn’t appear particularly eager to assist. TRC should keep in mind that not all guests are experienced with paddle boarding or are familiar with their facility/standard process. When we had questions or were unsure about next steps, the staff exchanged glances, making our experience less than welcoming.

Been coming here since pre-covid time to kayak with my friends. Glad to get back again with my friends after covid. They did a big renovation with the deck but everything else stays the same. You get everything you need to kayak with a standard pay. View was great on the lake! Especially if you go there at sunset!

Ranch Austin Wedding Venue offers a romantic outdoor setting for engagements and weddings. The venue features towering trees adorned with fairy lights, creating a magical space for couples to declare their love. With sprawling ranch views and cattle as a backdrop, the venue provides a touch of country charm. Guests can enjoy various areas for ceremonies, dinner, and receptions while appreciating the natural beauty of Texas. The longhorn cattle add an authentic Texan touch that guests love.
Ranch Austin the perfect venue for our wedding! The venue is so naturally gorgeous and guests were complimenting it nonstop. It has so many different areas for us to utilize for the ceremony, dinner, and reception. Plus, the longhorn cattle were an absolute HIT with our guests (as well as the AC for my northern family members). Chris was so easy to work with and very helpful leading up to the wedding. The price was great too. We could not have asked for a better venue!

Ranch Austin is the perfect venue. My daughter was married this weekend and Ranch Austin executed the most wonderful day for everyone. Melissa and Chris, the owners, were friendly and responsive all along the process from the very first meeting. Their venue is gorgeous- a great inside/outside space with beautiful lighting and ambience. The bonus is that they have longhorn that the guests could feed- that was a huge hit for our out of town family. Melissa was even helpful giving us ideas on how to arrange our tables based on our needs and the desired flow. They have plenty of outdoor space which made for a beautiful dance floor and a brand new covered patio, too! Besides the beauty of the venue (and it is perfect!) the owners are just wonderful people. As a business owner, you really want to put the client first- and they go to great measures to do that. Our off site church ceremony ended 30 minutes earlier than expected, but Melissa and Chris had everything ready so no one even knew that they were arriving well before the cocktail hour was to begin. Melissa and Chris- thanks for the beautiful wedding- we adore you and your Ranch Austin!

WOW! Ranch Austin is simply amazing! First of all, the property is BEAUTIFUL, complete with longhorns and miniature donkeys that provide a perfect "Classy Texas Ranch" atmosphere. Beyond that, the hospitality of Melissa and Chris is nothing short of incredible. Melissa makes it so easy to ask questions and go back and forth with during your planning process. I promise she will be your most efficient and organized vendor to communicate with! She is kind, responds quickly, and makes everything simpler! Chris was there on the day of our Kentucky Derby party and he set everything up perfectly prior to our arrival! On various occasions throughout the event I also saw him running around helping various vendors however he could due to the weather and ever-changing DJ setup! He worked TIRELESSLY to make everything perfect!! Even beyond that, he spent time with my sister teaching her about the longhorns and letting her feed them! It was one of her favorite memories! I know there are a lot of Dripping Springs venues, but what sealed the deal for us was the value for the space, easy rain back-up plan, being able to have an indoor-outdoor event, built-in outdoor bar, being able to bring in our own alcohol/TABC bartenders, and the "Classy Texas Ranch" feel. Other ranch venues in the area were a little more rustic than we wanted and many of our guests commented on the unique combination of ranch atmosphere and animals, but high quality, gorgeous features. The lights outside are also so special at night! We are so happy that we found Ranch Austin! THANK YOU!!

Beautiful outdoor setting for a wedding. They have a field right there with longhorn cows. The indoor eating and dancing area is nothing fancy, but the outdoor setting is beautiful and decorated nicely.

We had my daughter’s high school soccer banquet at Ranch Austin and wow! From the moment I booked the date, Chris and Melissa were a dream to work with. This venue is gorgeous and all guests were just blown away. You will not regret having your wedding or event here, I promise!

This venue is amazing!! Everyone loved the trees, the long horns, and absolutely everything. The hosts are incredible and they helped us through all the process. 100% recommended!

This place is beautiful. I do not have the photographer’s pictures yet, but wanted to share how amazing this venue is. Chris and Sheri were attentive and responsive all the time. Wonderful people. Very professional. Everyone loved the venue. Not to tell the longhorns! They were quite the attraction!. The bridal room is spacious and comfortable. The fire pit is so comfy. We had the place just for ourselves, which matter to me, so our guests were comfortable and we had privacy. Everything well thought and done. I couldn’t have chosen a better place in Austin area for our special day.

Ranch Austin alone is such a spacious and beautiful venue and to take the cake, Chris & Melissa were great people to work with. They were good at communicating through email, phone call, and text. They were very flexible with allowing us to come to the venue several times leading up to the wedding for planning purposes. We felt very comfortable the day of the wedding and we were able to rely on them for anything that came up throughout the event! One of the most special parts was being able to select our own caterer as most venues require pre-chosen caterer. Don’t hesitate to book for your next event!
