Unconventional Diner is an industrial-chic bistro and bar located inside the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, offering upscale comfort fare, coffee, beer, wine, and cocktails. Chef David Deshaies puts a creative spin on classic diner entrees like chicken and waffles with habanero butter or Caribbean-style shrimp and grits with Pineapple-Habanero Sauce.
Fantastic experience at the Unconventional Diner! The menu lives up to the name with tons of different cuisines represented in the dishes (very unconventional… I’ve never eaten at a restaurant with this much variety). Everything we had was delicious. I loved the Lebanese fried rice and the meatloaf is the best meatloaf I’ve ever tried. The chicken pot pie poppers were also quite tasty. Our server was very nice and brought out a fun birthday surprise for me (thankfully no singing!). I would absolutely eat here again… highly recommend!

What a great brunch's spot. Love the vibes, gives old fashioned diner with modern twist. Their plates even look like paper plates, but they're ceramic. The service was fabulous. It took a little while to get hot coffee but that is my only negative. We ordered the blueberry lavender pancakes, sexy sandwich, and the loaded biscuits. The pancakes were delicious. My favorite savory option was the sexy sandwich, the sexy sauce is delicious. Will absolutely be back again!

Absolutely Delicious. What should you order: Anything! This place has delicious food across the whole menu. We ended up coming two day in a row as it was that tasty. The loaded breakfast biscuits were crazy flavorful. My wife loved the pancakes, which were top notch. The star of the show was the chocolate cake, which may be the best Chocolate cake I’ve ever eaten. Overall come here hungry and leave super happy!

Unconventional Diner really lived up to the hype. The food was amazing and the staff was super friendly and welcoming throughout the whole visit. I tried the chicken and waffles for the first time and I wouldn’t regret that choice one bit. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and tender, and the sauce tied everything together so well. What really elevated the dish was the butter, it had scallions in it and that extra touch made a big difference. Their fresh orange juice was the perfect drink to go with morning routine. Definitely one of those places you remember and want to come back to. Great food, great vibes, and great people.

This place has been saved as a place to go in Google Maps for years. I decided to go for my birthday brunch so I made a reservation which was a great idea because it was packed on Sunday. We were promptly seated at a table. It took a little while but a waiter came over to get our drinks while we waited on our last guest. The fruit punch was out of the world delicious! I ordered two before the food came. Which brings me to the next point. Due to it being busy a manager took our order and unfortunately for us there was some miscommunication and the order never went to the kitchen or was delivered to the wrong table? Either way we watched as food went to people that arrived after us. Our waiter came over to ask if we wanted dessert and that was when he realized we never received an order. The manager came back over to clear it up, told us our food would be out soon and took the drinks and side dishes off the bill which was a nice touch. Once we got the food it was delicious! I got pancakes (the best I’ve had in a VERY long time). My husband got the loaded breakfast biscuits which were AMAZING and my friend got the shrimp and grits which she liked. Their grits are amazing also. Over all I would go back !

It was a pleasant experience, the atmosphere was nice and welcoming. The host and waiters were super friendly, super nice. The restaurant was tidy and clean, unfortunately there was a dirty glass which they changed with a plastic cup, I'll give them 8/10 on that. Talking about the food: I ordered, ● Chiken & waffles: was below average, came really dry and flavorless, very sad. ● Greek Full dead salad with Salmon: was ok, the Salmon was a little over. ● French dip poutine: was good but really heavy. ● Cajun Srimp & Grits: was dilecious. ● Double cheese Burger & Frise: was ok, could be better. The fries are really good. ● Buttermilk pancakes: was to the dry side, but it was ok. The Srawbarry and Brownie cakes area really dilecious. Food quality was ok, survise was really good though. Thank you Carlos. Would I come back? Yes, I would.

Stop by for brunch after our 5K run. We ordered the Double cheese burger, salmon with bagels, Thai salad with falafel, and Loaded breakfast biscuits. Everything tasted good, but didn’t have the wow factor. The service was avg at best. Our waitress added an extra something which we didn’t ordered, she took it back. Also a 20% automatic service fee was added, which I feel that shouldn’t be the case. Well that’s just my opinion. Check out the pictures for your own opinion.

I found this gem when searching for the best brunch restaurants in DC before my visit. Everything on the menu sounds great, so it was hard to decide. We got the Lebanese Fried Rice with Falafel and the S"Eggs"y Sandwich - both were amazing! I almost didn’t get the fried rice because I was leaning toward breakfast food, but I’m glad I got it! The spices and the yogurt sauce with the veggies in the fried rice were delicious, bursting with flavor! The falafel was perfect - crisp on the outside with a soft and flavorful inside - SO good!! The ambiance is beautiful inside and outside. I highly recommend going for any meal - breakfast, lunch, or dinner!

Founding Farmers DC is a cooperative-grower-owned restaurant that offers farm-to-table American cuisine in a rustic setting. The establishment prides itself on making everything from scratch, using ingredients from trusted farmers. Their Hanukkah menu features holiday favorites like matzo ball soup, glazed chicken, brisket, honey-glazed salmon, potato latkes, and sufganiyot.
A downtown restaurant, very close to the White House. The place is large, spread over two floors, and well designed inside, featuring a piano bar and a central counter. The staff is quick, friendly, and efficient in answering any questions about the dishes. The food is excellent, and the prices are in line with what is offered. Both the sandwich and the meat platter were outstanding. And if you want to finish on a high note, the cream-filled profiteroles are simply fabulous. Six big, delicious ones—I ate them all. A small note: I would suggest adding a cutlery rest, and also serving more Brie in the Brie-and-apple appetizer—it was almost invisible. Highly recommended!

Food is great and fresh. I got the cheeseburger and fried okra. My husband got the chicken fried steak meal with gravy, macaroni and cheese, green beans and a waffle. No complaints. All very good. Andy was our waitress on both occasions and she was great. Ambience is very nice and bright. I would definitely recommend.
Rebecca S — Google review
Every staff member we encountered was pleasant and professional. The host was welcoming and our server was extremely attentive. The food was very fresh. The macaroni and cheese is the best I’ve ever tasted. The coconut cream pie made an excellent dessert. I’m sure I will be back again in the near future.

I can not say enough good about this place and it's breakfast!! First we ordered coffee and a plate of the beignets. The beignets were absolute HEAVEN! A plate of six comes with three sauces, chocolate, raspberry and caramel. All delicious! My husband and I both ordered the breakfast tacos for our main dish. It came with a side of hash Browns. Everything was amazing! The tacos were VERY tasty! Our friends we're visiting from Chicago. They ordered eggs/ omelet with bacon, hash browns and sides of pancakes/ french toast. I tried a bite of my buddy's french toast because it looked so delicious I couldnt resist! I don't Even like French toast and I have to say that it was amazing as well. Besides the food being great and plentiful, which is something I always think about when picking a place to eat. I don't like leaving hungry after I just paid for a meal. I also don't go out very often to places like this so I always appreciate that it was even more than I could eat. I brought one of my tacos home!! The prices are very reasonable! Especially for the area. That was also one of the reasons I chose this location to bring my friends. It has great reviews and the pictures that I saw of the food looked amazing. It did not disappoint. My friends even said that I picked phenomenally in choosing Founding Farmer's!! It is 100% a restaurant you should visit while in for breakfast especially! We do plan to go back for lunch or dinner to check that out too! Our server was amazing as well and the atmosphere is nice. They have outdoor and indoor sting as well as a bar!! We chose to sit outside as it was a decent day! All and all if I could give them ten stars I would!!!!

My ride-or-die restaurant when I’m in DC. Fresh ingredients and plenty of options to please every palate — salads, sandwiches, fish and meat plates, pastas, and more. My risotto was good, but I expected a bit more flavor considering all the ingredients. Next time, I’ll try the scallops. The French fries are some of the best you’ll ever taste, and their natural sodas are super refreshing — I had the hibiscus one. Better make a reservation in advance, it’s always packed. We visited this restaurant for dinner on a Friday night and liked it so much that we came back again on Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere was great, and every dish we ordered was excellent — full of flavor and perfectly prepared. The service was good, and although the prices are a bit on the higher side, the quality of the food and the overall experience made it totally worth it.

This place was packed and I found out why...the food DELICIOUS and the service great. The restaurant is 2 stories and simply beautiful. Our server Ty was amazing, very attentive and great customer service 👏🏾. We had the opportunity to meet the manager Lorena she took care of us. If you're visiting the DC area you will be doing yourself a disservice by not trying this restaurant.
TAUNYA G — Google review
Extremely Disappointed – Quality Has Seriously Declined I’m genuinely disappointed with how far this place has fallen. It used to be one of the best spots around for both vegan and regular food — great quality, great service. Sadly, that’s no longer the case. On my most recent visit, the food was borderline inedible. The French fries were completely burned, yet somehow also soggy and greasy — as if they'd been preheated in old oil and left out too long. The veggie burger was downright disgusting. The tomato tasted off, almost spoiled, and the overall flavor was just bad. Nothing felt fresh or properly cooked. This isn't an isolated incident, either. It’s the second time in a row I’ve had serious issues with the food here, and it’s clear the quality has dropped dramatically. Whatever has changed — whether it’s the kitchen staff, suppliers, or management — it’s for the worse. Really hope they turn things around, but for now, I won’t be coming back.

Le Diplomate is a classic French restaurant that offers outdoor seating and a cozy atmosphere. It pays tribute to the iconic French cafe culture, providing a comfortable setting for enjoying familiar French dishes, brunch favorites, and drinks. The restaurant's warm and inviting ambiance features comfy booths, extended windows, and a tiled floor that gives it a casual patio-like feel. The menu boasts an array of French classics like bouillabaisse and onion soup alongside international favorites such as burgers and half roast chickens.
My lunch at Le Diplomate in D.C. was truly exquisite. The atmosphere is authentically French and wonderfully charming. It is full of energy, conversation, and a fun vibe. Since it was a gorgeous day in the 70s, I was especially grateful to sit outside on the covered patio and enjoy the afternoon. The French onion soup was a highlight — one of the best I’ve had, it rivals Balthazar in New York City. The champagne was excellent, and the crème brûlée was the perfect finish to the meal. The service was also very good. I highly recommend this wonderful and vibrant French restaurant in the heart of D.C.
Virginia H — Google review
First, it should be noted the atmosphere of the restaurant is beautiful and would be the perfect setting for an evening outing. The service was great, and our server was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. But as far as food goes, it was underwhelming. Beautifully presented but in taste and flavor it severely lacked and for the price point of each dish, was disappointing. I would recommend coming here perhaps for drinks and atmosphere, less so for the food.
Hailey C — Google review
Le Diplomate is an incredible spot for date night. It’s right on 14th Street and perfectly captures that classic European brasserie atmosphere. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it for a special evening. I highly recommend the steak frites, escargot, and duck. The duck, in particular, has a subtle orangey note that’s unlike anything I’ve ever tasted — rich, balanced, and memorable. We’ve also tried the artichokes before, which weren’t really my favorite, but everything else has been consistently excellent. The indoor dining room is elegant, but we’ve only ever sat outdoors, where the ambiance is just as lovely. We love this place and will definitely be back!
Rich M — Google review
They nailed the French bistro/cafe vibe!! It is so cool to sit inside or on the patio and enjoy their food. One of the best burgers in the city! And the mushroom tart was flaky and rich and flavor packed!! Highly recommend!
Daniel L — Google review
My experience at this restaurant was excellent with the food and the service. The decor of the place was very pretty. The food was delicious. The coffee was super delicious, with an intense and tasty flavor. I loved it. The waiter who served us, I have to say this. We had a small incident with the coffee, but he resolved it super quickly. He was very attentive from the beginning, very kind and respectful. We were super happy with the attention from Mr. Amaya. I have to mention him because he gave us excellent service. I highly recommend this restaurant. Everything was excellent: the food, the service, the atmosphere, everything was a very nice experience! Highly recommended!!
M — Google review
Love the aesthetic and vibe of this place moreso than the food or drinks. The burger was good (not cooked as ordered = medium) and the scallops were good. Nothing phenomenal. Old fashioned was good. Just all around a very ok/good experience.
Colton S — Google review
We came on a day that there were protestors outside. You're charging $16 for two eggs over easy and you're trying to convince us you can't afford unioned workers? Yikes. As for the food, I had the Country Dry Chicken Club. The price felt audacious for its quality. The eggs benedict were fine since that's a tough dish to mess up, though through hard work and determination, they managed to do so as one of the eggs was medium boiled (at best). The highlight of the meal was the onion soup, which was perfect in every way. We went to a lot of great eateries while visiting DC, but this wasn't one of them. To be clear, the food isn't terrible, and what a business owner does re: unions isn't my business in the end; that said, this place feels like they are coasting on their reputation, charging higher prices for the prestige while failing to deliver on the quality that these prices should offer.
Titus A — Google review
Midnight in Paris, but Make It D.C. There’s something about Le Diplomate that makes you believe in romance again — even if it’s just between you and your glass of Bordeaux. The lights shimmer like a Parisian dream, the chatter hums like a love song, and every bite feels like it’s flirting with you. The duck ragu? Intoxicating. The steak frites? A perfect affair of flavor and nostalgia. And the chocolate torte? Dangerous — the kind of sweet you shouldn’t trust but can’t resist anyway. Come here on a Friday night when the city feels alive. Order the wine, toss your hair, and let the night do what it does best — remind you that love isn’t gone, it’s just evolving. 💋 Pro tip: Don’t wait for someone to take you here. Go for yourself — Paris is more fun when you’re the main character.

The Market Lunch is a bustling counter-serve eatery located in Eastern Market, Capitol Hill. It has been a local institution for over 40 years, drawing crowds with its hearty American breakfasts and satisfying lunch classics like fried chicken sandwiches and hamburgers. The owner, Tommy Glasgow, has deep roots in the market and serves up delicious seafood platters alongside breakfast staples like blueberry pancakes and creamy grits.
I love The Market Lunch! I’ve been coming here since 2016. My go to meal is the pancakes and a side piece of whiting. I use to go multiple times throughout the week and ended up building a rapport with the staff. They’re so sweet! I didn’t go for almost 3 years and upon me returning they still recognized me. The owner is super nice too, he pops in every now and again. I did try something different today, the avocado sandwich. I wasn’t a fan! It was very dry. It was a thin layer of avocado spread, one fried egg, two slices of tomatoes and spinach. I’m sure someone may like it, it’s just not for me. It lacked flavor and I’m glad I ordered the mix drink because I was very parched while eating the sandwich. I won’t get it again. I’ll stick to what I know. Oh, the crab cake is good too!

I was actually excited for the buckwheat blue berry pancakes. Am a big pancake fan, I don’t do cheat meals and usually stick to eating at home. So I do have high standards. These were okay. They were fine. Not bad but I have had better ones. So much better.

Stopped in for lunch on a mission for a crab cake. Ordered the 2 crab cake plate with fried green tomato and coleslaw. Crab cake - 4/5 nice size, real lump crab little fillers. Beautiful crust. Seasoned. Satisfying. Could use a little lemon juice or remoulade sauce. I didn't care for theirs- Tarter just okay Green tomatoes-4/5 Good breading and flavor. Coleslaw -4/5 good solid coleslaw Roll- 4/5

I ❤️ this place! When I have guests visit DC, this is where I take them before a day of sightseeing. This time, I had buck wheat blue berry pancakes. Which sounds simple, but they're exceptional! Buy so is their crab cake Benedict and chicken and waffles. It's hard to go wrong here. Check the blackboard for daily specials. Be warned on weekends, the line can be really long. I suggest going early. They open at 8AM, I think. Also, the only seating is a communal table or the picnic tables outside. Then go walk it off and enjoy the rest of Eastern Market.

What a great experience. The gentlemen in the cashier is great! He is super funny and gives you the best suggestions, so you better listen to him :p We really enjoyed the atmosphere. The food is delicious: the crab cake Benedict it’s amazing... They are famous for the blueberry pancakes (delicious as well). The service is great, very nice staff, convenient location and good prices. FYI: This place is cash only, so be prepared :)
Ivana G — Google review
A friend and I were so excited to come here for the pancakes. I had them before, a few months prior, and had been raving about them ever since. We both traveled over half an hour just to get them and were beyond disappointed after waiting in line to be told that they had run out of pancake mix and did not feel like making any more. This was 20 minutes before breakfast ended. After leaving the line dejected, we found out from the people next to us that not only had they successfully ordered pancakes, but they had ordered after us. I was looking forward to going here all week, and this experience has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I’m unsure if I will ever return.

For those looking for lighter fare, the grain bowls and breakfast salads provide refreshing options alongside a tempting selection of smoothies.
This is a great commissary! Their prices are much lower than any Arlington Grocery store. Essentials like milk and eggs are well priced. Ever their cat food is $2 instead of $2.70 at Petsmart and Amazon. I’ve never had a Bad experience here or with any of the employees.

Good variety of items. Excellent customer service. Some items competitively priced but some items (dairy and bakery) are overpriced to the nearby markets. Surcharge can be discouraging.
Ming C — Google review
This is among the best medium-sized Commissaries that I’ve been to. They have great customer service, a good grab and go section, a sushi counter, and all the usual stuff that the Commissary has. They don’t have a fish counter or lobster tank, but I don’t expect one except in the biggest. An example of the customer service we’ve come to expect is something that happened to my wife today. She was standing in the chip aisle, obviously looking for something specific. One of the employees saw her, asked what she was looking for, and volunteered to go to the back and check for it without even having to be asked to do so. The only downside to this one is that their great customer service doesn’t extend to remembering to make sure their electric shopping carts are plugged in when they are not in use.

Ted's Bulletin is a bustling eatery in Capitol Hill that serves American comfort food and offers breakfast all day. The place is popular, so it's best to arrive early to avoid the brunch crowd. The restaurant has a cozy 1920s/1930s vibe with leather booths and old school movies playing on projection screens.
I had a great experience at Ted's Bulletin. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the blueberry tart, it was the highlight of my meal! The service stood out the most; the staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcomed throughout our visit. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to coming back soon.

Can’t say about other locations but this location is great! The staff here have such good vibes, they made you feel welcomed! Food comes real fast despite the busy lunch hour. We enjoyed our food a lot. Ordered some tarts to go, they are amazing!! Flaky texture and fruit stuffing are so good together. There’s a 5% surcharge, I hope the staff actually get the full amount! If they don’t, they totally deserve a raise!

Amazing Cinnamon Roll. We just stumbled upon this amazing restaurant and ended up coming here 3 days in a row. Their breakfast is great all around. If you’re lucky enough to visit when cinnamon rolls are being served order two ;) they are huge and packed full of flavor, the amount of icing could be more but it’s truly delicious. They have a tasty bakery section and everything I tried was top notch. Service was fast and friendly. Their prices were good and huge portions. Overall if you’re looking for a great meal give them a try or two!

It was a pleasant experience, the atmosphere was nice and welcoming. I really recommend making a reservation. The host and waiters were super friendly, super nice. Thank you Mr. Mabi (Sorry I'm winging the spelling). The restaurant was tidy and clean, unfortunately there was some sticky parts on our table, I'll give them 7/10 on that. Talking about the food: I ordered, ● Crispy Calamari: was dilecious but could be crispier. ● Ted's Tomato Soup: dilecious, but also could be better. ● Stovetop Chili Soup: dilecious. ● Steak and Cheese Eggrolls: dilecious ● All American Burger: good but really heavy. ● Szechuan hot chicken sandwich: good but really heavy. ● Steak frites and NY strip: dilecious. ● Ragu Lasagna: was dilecious Food quality was great, survise was really good. Thank you all. Would I come back? Yes, I would.

So good, we went here twice. An amazing chicken sandwich and lobster roll, fresh and delectable. The dessert options are not an after thought like most restaurants and nearly everything is very worth the calories. And yes, the cinnamon roll is worth showing up early for brunch, it’ll blow your mind.

I've tried this place twice now and both times, the atmosphere, the meal, and the service have been excellent. My last visit was on September 1st, and Zack did a fantastic job, even during their rush hour. The food was genuinely great, the portion size was satisfying, and I enjoyed every bite. Thank you for the consistently great experience.

Zach the ginger was a good server. The food was good, but not necessarily great. The gravy had a vinegar taste to it. Biscuits were amazing. Cheese grits. Nope. Stop making them. They taste weird. Prices were reasonable too.

Amazing place to have breakfast! From walking in, I loved the feel. The large, brass and glass revolving door was so classic. Then, walking in to the hostess, upon looking around, the overall vibe had a very 1920s/30s look and they kept it well preserved. We were sat across from the bar, very classy, which offered a view of tasty looking drinks we weren’t having prior to a race the next day. I was in town for the Marine Corps Marathon and a buddy, who is local, took us here for day-prior carbohydrate loading. Ted’s did not disappoint!! I ordered Orange juice and coffee, both as to be expected. For breakfast, I chose the Norway Benedict, it sounded so good I couldn’t pass (carb loaded a little later haha). The eggs were perfectly poached and very finely presented, and the crème fraiche hollandaise was amazing, right amount, and not at all watery. The salmon was a nice touch, well prepared and tasted great. The tater tot was really good, although tater tot sounds like an injustice… It was more of a fried shredded potato cube—ok tater tot haha. Looking back, I didn’t even eat the Dijon frisée salad, I thought it was just garnish oof. But it looked very fresh. Next time I am in DC, I will be returning to Ted’s Bulletin to try the rest of the menu.

The Coupe is a spacious and stylish coffeehouse and lounge located in Columbia Heights. It offers a mix of American gastropub fare, milkshakes, and specialty cocktails. With its 24-hour service, it caters to various crowds including telecommuters, students, and diners looking for comfort food at any time of day.
A classic American restaurant family friendly and with a wide range of breakfast/brunch options. I love how they have different options depending a savory or sweet craving. Always a table available. The hash browns are the best.

Cute, hipster spot up in Petworth. They have a lot of events and the food — especially the brunch is great. I got the potato hash and a kiwi mimosa. Both hit the spot. They have indoor, bar and outdoor seating so lots of options there. Great part of town too.
Cassie S — Google review
Yeah I thought the food was pretty good. But here’s why the review is low. Our waiter took lowkey forever to wait on us. It’s Sunday at 3pm and pretty lowkey. I feel like she didn’t really understand what we were asking? I asked about the burrito size and she looked confused. My friend asked for a modification for the Coupe bowl and she still looked confused? Definitely felt like she rolled her eyes a few times. I liked the aesthetic of the restaurant but it just felt awkward. At the end when we were tipping I felt like we were being watched how much we were tipping. Still tipped the full 20% but it was just an off putting dining experience.

A classic American dinner with very standard food - we had the avocado toasts and pancakes, average. Felt a bit cheated when the bill came digitally, quickly passed to the paying and tip screen, asked if service was included, was told no and added 20%, to realize after paying that 10% service charge was already charged to the bill… if that’s the practice, it should be transparent, and if they expect 30% for the service, then service should definitely be much better. So be careful when your bill comes!

This recommendation from Odd Provisions did not disappoint. It was a beautiful day, friendly staff and great food. The Fried Green Tomatoes were perfect......nice crisp crust and a thick, firm slice. I didn't even miss the sauce, the topping was light and fresh. The Shrimp & Grits were very good, just enough spice against those creamy, cheesy grits. The Veggie burger was a big hit and very filling. My mom said "finally a burger that wasn't all starch or just straight 'shrooms", lol, and very filling. Looking towards the next visit.

Established in 1944, Florida Avenue Grill is a historic diner in Columbia Heights, known as the oldest soul food restaurant globally. Locals love its generous portions of Southern comfort food classics such as pan-fried chicken, Cajun fried catfish, and barbecue pork spareribs with a tangy sauce. The diner also offers an all-day breakfast featuring French toast, buttermilk biscuits, and hot cakes.
Went in and was greeted by a beautiful sister and to top it off, her hospitality was great. Everyone was very kind and happy to serve me and the other customers inside. The food? 10/10, fried catfish, collard greens, macaroni and cheese and a store brewed batch of sweet tea. Amazing, please support them

A true DC Classic!— one of those places that just feels like home. The new ownership has done an amazing job keeping the soul of the Grill alive while refreshing things in all the right ways. The new and improved menu is a perfect balance of classic comfort food and fresh updates — every dish is full of flavor and made with care. It’s great to see this historic spot thriving and continuing to represent the heart of the city.

I’ve been coming here for years and the service has always been questionable, but on this occasion the menu did not reflect accurate pricing or combo options. In addition to no having correct menu options on ALL THE MENUS IN THE RESTAURANT, the staff was unable and unwilling to honor the pricing reflected on the menu. It’s unprofessional and unfortunate. They claim to be the oldest soul food restaurant in the country, and the menus are clearly printed on someone’s personal printer at home - but they decide to pass out inaccurate menus. To add insult to injury - they know people come here for breakfast/brunch on the weekends and the host was at the door telling people that they’d have to wait at least 45 minutes for food in a restaurant with 7 patrons in it because they only scheduled one person to cook. This will be the last time I spend money at this establishment. I did love bringing people from out of town here, but the unprofessional nature of the staff and the restaurant in general has moved Florida Ave grill to the list of places to avoid.

My dinner here had more flair than I expected! Tasty fried chicken and huge perfect plaintains. The stir-fried cabbage could have been spicier but it was a clever recipe. Overall this chef is going places and I believe this restaurant can make it another 80 years. Our meals took some time so don't be in a rush. Glad I went and I will be back sometime to check out their breakfast.

I had the pleasure of visiting Florida Avenue Grill during Howard’s Homecoming this past weekend, and I have to say — this place is truly stepping into a new era while still honoring its roots. From the moment my friends and I walked in, the atmosphere felt electric yet familiar — that perfect mix of D.C. soul and southern comfort. The updates under the new ownership are noticeable but tasteful — everything feels refreshed without losing the Grill’s historic charm. The food has leveled up in a big way. My meal came out hot, seasoned just right, and full of flavor. You can tell there’s been real attention put into the menu and ingredients — the kind of quality that reminds you why this spot has been a local institution for decades. What really stood out, though, was the hospitality. Everyone I interacted with was warm, welcoming, and clearly proud to be part of the Grill’s story. It felt less like dining at a restaurant and more like being a guest at a family gathering. Florida Avenue Grill has always been a D.C. staple, but it’s great to see it thriving again with new energy, better food, and the same heart that’s made it legendary. If you haven’t been in a while, it’s time to go back — it’s a true DC gem reborn.

We went here as it was recommended by the New York Times. Although we were sceptical in the beginning, we left very satisfied and happy. The ambience and the history of the place is unique and a must see for anyone who is remotely culturally interested. Our breakfast (fried catfish with grits, eggs and cornbread) was so good aswell. We would definitely go again!

Been coming here since college, and as a lover of all things breakfast, the Grill has been a go-to staple for me for almost 20 years. Food is always amazing and made fresh, atmosphere is neighborhood friendly, and the historical factor as one of DC's longest standing soul food institutions makes this a perfect place for anyone wanting a good meal and good vibes. Looking forward to another 20 years and beyond.

Ala is a stylish restaurant in Dupont that showcases Middle Eastern specialties, wines, and cocktails. The women-owned Levantine restaurant offers a plush, light-filled space perfect for brunch. Ala is renowned for its impressive mimosa station where patrons can customize their drinks with various juices, syrups, and fresh fruit during the 90-minute bottomless brunch available on weekends. The menu features Fried Halloumi, an assortment of dips, Levantine-inspired omelets, and more.
This place was good !! Couldn’t have been more content with what I ate. It is pricey, but we did have coupons through InKind app which was nice The ambiance is beautiful and very cool. Coffee was good and the little sweet was interesting. The flat bread incredible, duck prosciutto was something new and good, the salmon and shrimp dish was great! Chicken and veggies were so tasty and tender Would love to return

We came for restaurant week and had a great time. It was four courses and we added the four drinks to go with it. It was especially nice that they did regular menu items + regular sizes so you could get a sense of what it is usually like. The bread and dips were great, we really liked the potatoes and brussel sprouts. We did the lamb kebab and chicken for a main course. By then we were pretty stuffed. Both were delicious and well seasoned. The chicken was a tiny bit dry, but had ample sauce to compensate. We tried both desserts and were super pleased. All of our drinks were pleasant and fun. The atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant. The staff were kind and attentive. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend it to anyone.

We have been wanting to try this new Mediterranean place. We had an early dinner around 5 o’clock on a Sunday night. The food was delicious especially loved the beef kebab. Pita bread is hands down the best in the area. Everything is fresh and tasty. Service was great too. Outdoor seating is lovely.

My wife and I went for our anniversary based off a recommendation from friends. The atmosphere was great both outside and in. The staff went above and beyond. If I could offer any advice, listen to their recommendations for food and drink. We had amazing cocktails, small plates, entrees and desserts. The Kunafa was incredible and we went back for seconds on the Halloumi Wraps. The Short Ribs Pide and Adana Kebab were mouth watering. Everything was phenomenal. Alp and Sumac (not her real name but thats what she asked us to call her as her name was harder to pronounce) were incredibly attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return!

We had an unforgettable dinner at ala in DuPont. Our server Jamie was a wonderful host and accommodating for our dietary restrictions. The food was some of the best we’ve had in DC. Some favorites were the za’atar labneh, baba ghanoush, duck prosciutto, and chicken thigh kebab. Do not skip on the white chocolate pistachio baklava and house made teas for dessert. Fun vibes to come for a date or group. Come hungry!

Stopped in for brunch on a Saturday, and so glad we did! The buffet is an immense spread of authentic, delicious food with plenty of options for vegans as well as carnivores. The service staff works together seamlessly to create an excellent guest experience where you feel cared for and valued. One of the best dining experiences I've had in recent memory. Will recommend without hesitation!

Great restaurant in the heart of DuPont circle, DC. The ambience was top tier and the service was excellent (special shoutout to Erick). The food was very flavorful and they had a quite a good variety of eastern Mediterranean dishes (specifically Turkish and Greek). Note, this place is pricey! I wouldn’t necessarily recommend if you are a hearty eater as the portion sizes are quite small. However if you are, the “tasting experience” is probably your best bet ($58 when we visited) which allows you to choose from any 3 of their hot or cold mezzes. I highly recommend the pita and hummus (might have been the best I’ve had). The Ras-El Hanout short ribs also deserves a shoutout. Overall, it’s a great spot for a dinner date as the atmosphere is hard to beat.

Kafe Leopold, located in Georgetown, offers a slice of Europe with its European fare and all-day coffee-and-drinks bar. The restaurant features a sleek interior and a back alley patio, creating the perfect setting for enjoying their decadent assortment of pastries and crispy schnitzel paired with arugula.
Opting for the outdoor seating, I enjoyed the pleasant ambiance that perfectly complemented the weather. I ordered two sunny side up eggs, which were cooked to perfection, and paired them with their signature hot chocolate, Kakao. The Kakao was rich and flavorful, offering a comforting warmth that enhanced my meal. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience. Overall, Café Leopard provided a charming atmosphere with delicious offerings. I look forward to returning and trying more from their menu. There were plenty of toilets and very clean as well.

This place used to be a go-to brunch spot when I lived in Georgetown; however, a lot changed since then. My favorite menu, egg in a cup, is replaced with egg on baguette. I was already disappointed there. Avocado toast and poached eggs tasted as expected but nothing extraordinary. Ham and cheese croissant was pretty good. We also ordered lemon pancake, which was the best out of all we ordered today. Lemon pancake was soft but chewy with right balance of lemon hint that stimulated appetite. It was good enough to eat without any butter, syrup, or jam. I tried it with syrup but then it became too sweet. I would recommend that to anyone to give it a try. Overall, still decent option for weekend brunch and enjoy DC/Georgetown vibe.

We've been fans for a long time. The last couple of times (including today, summer solstice), my husband and I enjoyed the very juicy, tasty grilled chicken with an ample side salad of greens and toasted walnuts in a light vinaigrette. We shared the roasted fingerling potatoes. We skipped dessert even though they serve a few of our favorites anywhere in DC. Sometimes we get a side of spinach. Lex was our friendly server on his 1st night. We had enough time to chat - he's a man with a fascinating background and an easy laugh. Sit outside if the weather's good, inside is fine, too. Leopold is tucked back from busy M street so it's always more relaxing than much of Georgetown.

This is my second time coming to Kafe Leopold and it did not disappoint!! Previously, I stumbled upon this delicious brunch spot with some girlfriends, but today I found myself inside after a long shopping day. I ate l one of the largest portions of mussels + frites I’ve ever had, followed by a perfectly brewed coffee and a small dessert to go. Whether you are coming for breakfast, lunch, or dinner the food here is positively divine. Moreover, the price of the food is a steal after considering quality and portion size. It seems hard these days to find fresh food at a good price, so Kafe Leopold is a must when shopping on M street! I recommend the sea bass, any salad, or the mussels

Kafe Leopold is a gem of a place for casual lunch, brunch or early dinner. Classic Austrian/Belgian bistro fare with Schnitzel, branzino, mussels, and French fries. Went for a friend’s bday brunch. Atmosphere is nice and airy with good lighting. Outdoor seating area has a cute water fountain. Food was good but avocado toast was lack luster. It came deconstructed with poached eggs in a jar and odd air fryer bacon. Would recommend French toast which was huge and very delicious.

Ambar Shaw is a rustic-chic restaurant offering traditional Balkan dishes and regional spirits. The small-plate menu allows you to sample various dishes at an affordable price, and for a set fee, you can enjoy unlimited food and drinks. The ambiance is delightful, with the option to dine outside on warm days or in the charming upstairs dining room adorned with pink cherry blossom branches. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
Came here on a Saturday afternoon. We thought we were doing restaurant week lunch but learned that weekends are brunch before 4, no restaurant week. But the brunch price is $37 each, not really different than the 35 each for restaurant week. So we had the all you can eat small plates brunch. Was fun trying all these dishes and most were great. Value seemed good to us, definitely not always the case in DC. Great experience!

This was my first time experiencing a restaurant of this style! It is $49 per person for all you can eat off the menu and then $54 if you want to add in dessert. All of the spreads are great! The olives are a bit potent, but olives in general aren’t my thing so I’m not a great judge. The fire roasted peppers were okay, will probably pass next time. The pepper and cheese croquettes are amazing. The asparagus and mushroom pilaf are great too! The yaga roasted lamb had a good flavor, but it was very oily. Beef short rib goulash was what held this place back from 5 stars, it was very average and we expected more. The cheese pie was also oily. The dessert we had was the raspberry cake and baklava and both were amazing!! Overall the food is great, don’t expect 5 star dining of course. Good price for everything you can get and the service was fast and kind to us.

My first time at the Shaw location. Slightly smaller than the Clarendon location that I normally go to, but has a more urban and a compact vibe. Our server had the best smile ever and she earned every penny of our tip. My friend and I are carnivores and ordered perhaps 30 plates of meat only. Left very satisfied and satiated!

Without a doubt, try the lamb lasagna. That dish alone was reason enough to return. Can't wait to have everything. We tried to sample as much as our stomachs would allow! I've never been to an "All You Can Eat" tapas place before. Happy to say that I enjoyed my experience of it here! I practically ordered everything off the menu haha I really like how everything came out in small portions. That way, I was able to taste more stuff without stuffing myself on just one dish. Note - even though the dishes are in smaller portions, you can still share! For example, no need to order 2 of the same dish - you can share the same one, and if you really like it, order another one b/c it's all you can eat! One of the "must orders" is the lamb lasagna. I didn't taste much lamb, but it was a good (American style) lasagna nonetheless. I really liked the veal soup and tomato soup. The cauliflower was roasted perfectly. The White Flatbread was divine - really tasted the truffle oil! I was not a fan of the fried chicken. I was expecting more...chicken wing style. Unfortunately, it was just a square piece of fried chicken. The drunken mussels were delicious - the garlic cream sauce it came in is sooo good! Keep it to dip. With the all you can eat menu, it comes with an alcoholic drink, at least at this location it does. I was able to get a mocktail instead. It was a fun experience. I think think place is perfect for groups. The service was fine. The place is very pretty. It had a nice girly brunch vibe to it.
Sandy T — Google review
We used to order delivery from this place and always enjoyed the food. However, our first brunch there was even better. The staff was friendly and polite, and the service was very fast. The ambiance was fantastic, and the food was generally very good. The concept of unlimited small plates worked very well with their food. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. Most of the foods were fantastic, with only a couple of disappointments. Maybe because the rest of the menu sets the bar really high. The grilled hanger steak was perfect. It’s very tricky to add chimichurri to steak and keep its taste in the spectrum of steak taste, but they figured it out nicely. I had tried several unsuccessful tries in other restaurants and never satisfied, but Shaw’s version was very good. Their cevapi was also fantastic, and we loved both the cheese and meat pies. The mushroom flatbread and pulled pork Benedict were very good as well. On the other hand, their waffles were very bad. They were soft and not crispy at all. Balkano wasn’t that much tasty, and their starters were average. Despite these minor disappointments, the overall experience was very good, and we will definitely go again.

Came here for Easter brunch and had a phenomenal time! Bottomless drinks and tapas, what more can you ask for? The decorations upstairs was beautiful and very spring, service was quick and our glasses were never empty. Highly recommend the shrimp and grits, salmon eggs Benedict, and the cheese slider. The atmosphere was so high energy, a bit overwhelming at first but truly contributed to an excellent time! Brunch or dinner, this chain does not fail.

With a focus on farm-to-table offerings, this spot serves up both large and small plates that are perfect for sharing. The brunch menu is particularly popular, featuring delightful mimosas and cocktails served in rustic mason jars—an unlimited mix-and-match cocktail option adds to the fun for just $25!
Went today for brunch with a few friends and had a great time! We were seated promptly for our brunch reservation. The hostess and wait staff were very nice and efficient. There are two floors we were seated upstairs the space is kind of small BUT cozy!! Didn’t feel cramped at all. The downstairs is a bit bigger. They have a variety of mimosa flavors. Me and my friends started with pineapple and then tried others. I had pomegranate which was amazing! My friends tried strawberry and blackberry and they enjoyed theirs as well. We shared the bakers board. I didn’t try the pork stuffed cheddar and bacon biscuit because I don’t eat pork but my friends loved it! The regular biscuit, cinnamon bun and chocolate glazed donut were enjoyed by all. I ordered the blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes (my first time trying) and they were really good!! Two friends had the crispy chicken sandwich and they really enjoyed it. One friend had the pork hash and enjoyed it as well. I would definitely return!

The food here was really amazing. The French toast supremo is great, and the fruit was incredibly fresh. I went with a group of friends for brunch, and everything was also priced really well. They have a great deal for unlimited mimosas. The only downside on the day we went was the speed of service was incredibly slow. I’m not sure if they were having an off day, but the restaurant was barely filled when we first got there (about three tables ahead of us), and we waited close to 45 minutes for our food (for 5 people). Our server also was not super present when we needed refills. I am giving four stars though because the manager was incredibly apologetic, comped items off our bill, and gave us a free round of shots. So, shoutout to the manager on duty that day.

Came here for brunch. Bottomless mimosas were great but I ordered Goi Ga salad and it tasted like rancid fish. The waitress was very nice and comped the meal. I proceeded to ordered the brunch potatoes and they were rock solid and were extremely bland. Disappointing and hope that this was a fluke. Will definitely try this place again for reassurance but today’s brunch was not great.

Came by after work for dinner and drinks with a friend. Ended up sitting at the bar on the first floor - really nice and chill bar area - not too many people there when we first got there right after work. Started to get more packed as the night continued. I ordered the burger and fries and a few drinks. The burger was really good and the drinks were pretty good and strong. Overall it was a nice experience and I would definitely go back to try other things on the menu and their brunch and to see what the upstairs experience is like.

Good food, drinks, and music! This is my second time visiting, and service both times has been absolutely wonderful :)

We made a reservation, but they didn’t actually reserve a table for us, nor did they have any tables open, so they basically told us to kick rocks. We eventually fought for bar seats that featured a steady drip of water from the ceiling onto our backs. $29 halibut dish was so dry and overcooked that I had to gag it down. $15 cocktails tasted good but were poured so short that we finished them in only a few sips. It’s a shame because the staff was generally friendly and this seems like a cool spot, but I’m not sure I’ve had a worse experience for the price anywhere in DC. Not even making an effort to honor reservations is ridiculous and should’ve been our signal to walk out.
Joel R — Google review
In a word: underwhelming! While I did not necessarily arrive with high expectations I don’t think there’s much to praise at this locale. The good: the servers were certainly attentive and chipper (motivated, I would hope, by the default 20% service fee that will be slapped onto your check) The middling: the burger which I ordered was somewhere between the fare you’d expect at a McDonald’s and a typical sit down chain like a TGI Friday’s (no disrespect to those TGI’s aficionados among you) in that it was small and overly greasy. Finally, I should call out the surprising detail that there are NO beers on tap here. Verdict: a slightly below average experience in an unassuming (but hardly eclectic) pub.

I headed to Bar Pilar with a large group of friends as an after party for my 40th. Could not have asked for a more welcoming, fun and chill experience. The bartenders were so friendly and accommodating, checking on people constantly and just sharing great energy. We didn’t eat here but the drinks were good and kept on coming! Thank you!

Imperfecto, a sophisticated restaurant located in West End, was opened by Venezuela-born Chef Enrique Limardo in 2021. The restaurant aims to blend South American and Mediterranean cuisines, offering elegant seafood and steak dishes made with seasonal ingredients. The menu features modern labor-intensive cooking, such as foie gras served with plantain brioche and slow-roasted suckling pig.
Imperfecto left a strong impression it was quite phenomenal. I thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu, with all the dishes hitting the mark. The burrata and hummus with candied apples was my personal favorite. Beyond the food, the service, staff, and decor were all top-notch. I'm already planning my return to explore their brunch offerings.

All I could think of is Class and Elegance from the moment I walked in and dined at this place! The maximum rating is five star , but I wish there were more stars I could put as a rating! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The service was impeccable! I told our waiter Fernando that I had to be at a show at the Capital One Arena and all I had to do was utter those words and it was like a dream come true! He told us not to worry and that we were going to make it to where we were going! He was 100% accurate! He made it happen for us! I felt like my table was specifically watched by every server in there! Our food came on time, plates were removed and replaced as we were done eating each course seamlessly. I want to describe the quality of food I had in this place to the best of my knowledge! I have never tasted a Wagyu that just melted on my tongue from the first bite!♥️♥️ The prawns were excellent and not to mention the amazing Moussaka Cigar( it was filled with ground lamb and other ingredients). The flavors were coming from everywhere. I was bedazzle by the delicious courses we order and service we received! No wonder this is a Michelin star restaurant! Well deserved! It is perfect for date night, group gathering, etc.. They do not offer valet parking, but I was able to park at the Ritz Carlton and my ticket was validated by Fernando before we left! The service was superb! I highly, highly recommend this restaurant! It is an experience, PEOPLE!♥️♥️

Absolutely unforgettable experience at Imperfecto. We visited DC for the first time this weekend and ended up dining at Imperfecto two nights in a row, it was that amazing. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel special; on our second visit, they surprised us with a welcome-back card with our names and a handwritten message. Every dish was perfection, from the Madai Crudo and Tiger Prawns à la Diablo, to the Lamb Terrine, each plate felt like a work of art. But the real showstopper was the Pistachio & Yogurt dessert truly life-changing (do NOT miss this if you go) Even without a reservation our first night, they found us seats at the bar, and the service was just as thoughtful as when we returned for dinner the next evening. Marcos, the bartender prepared the best drinks (imperfecto club) for us. Imperfecto is hands-down the best restaurant in Washington, DC. Can’t wait to return.

Food was great. The server was very friendly and helpful. We came as a group of 5, shared some appetizers, and ordered individual entrees. We got great recommendations.

we started the meal with the beet salad and the prawns. The beet salad was pretty good, so maybe didn't rock my world. However, the prawns sauce was a prelude of things to come so when the lamb arrived turned out to be amazing . The whole experience was elevated to a high level. It always is wonderful to know that there's a chef in the kitchen who really loves his craft - together with a nice Margaux red Imperfecto delivered with beautiful service and a nice ambiance. Alexis and his team are really doing a superb job. Highly recommended and three Michelin stars, what else can I say?

Upscale dining experience with a creative menu and beautifully presented dishes. Service was excellent. I was a bit disappointed by the food itself which felt less delicate and refined than I would expect at this level. Some combinations were less to my taste ( Burrata and Hummus) some food was not perfectly cooked.

This restaurant should be called Perfecto because everything was incredible about our experience! The meal, drinks, service, ambience! I came with my husband, we did one restaurant week menu - ordered the Aladdin burrata, duck magret and a dessert and one regular menu, ordered the shrimp ceviche and mushroom risotto. Everything was phenomenal. Also loved the little truffle mushroom soup they brought out to everyone as an app. Smelt amazing, tasted even better! Thank you, can’t wait to come back!!

From appetizers to dessert, every bite was extraordinary — easily in my top five meals ever. The Pistachio & Yogurt dessert was a standout: such a unique and unexpected combination of flavors. I never would’ve chosen it myself, but I asked the restaurant to surprise me — and wow, did they deliver. The flavors were perfectly balanced, refreshing, and unforgettable. The service was equally impressive — attentive without being intrusive, and every recommendation hit the mark. If you’re reading this and haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and book a table now. You won’t regret it.

Nina May is a cozy and stylish restaurant located in Logan Circle, offering a menu of inventive cocktails and locally sourced New American cuisine. The brunch menu features homemade pastries, egg sandwiches, Yukon Gold Hash Browns with Smoked Salmon, and more. Additionally, the restaurant provides a set menu of shareable dishes like Cacio e Pepe Agnolotti and Brown Butter Sage French Toast.
Went for Sunday brunch and were delighted that we chose this place to go to. They had decent vegetarian options, by the time we went, they ran out of the veggie croquettes (perhaps next time). We stuck to the shared plates Ala Carter menu, we loved the mushroom dish from the menu. It was super delicious with lots of umami. The pasta dish was good too but the mushroom one was definitely blew us away. Overall, great place for casual brunch and some tasty cocktails.

I recently hosted a private birthday party for about 18 people at Nina May, and it was absolutely incredible—easily one of my best visits yet (and this was my third time here!). Ben was our server for the evening and truly went above and beyond. He was attentive, timely, and made sure our wine glasses were never empty. He checked in often to ensure everything ran smoothly, which made the whole experience feel seamless. The managers, Peter and Arie, were also fantastic. They both made it a point to check in throughout the night, making sure everything was perfect. That kind of attentiveness really makes a difference. The food? Outstanding. Every course from the Chef’s Choice menu was delicious, and the kitchen did a great job accommodating dietary restrictions without compromising on quality or creativity. I’ll absolutely be back to Nina May. And if you’re thinking of hosting a private event—don’t think twice. This is the place to do it!

So glad I finally got to try this spot! Had an amazing dinner of a la carte options. One of the best espresso martinis I've ever had. For my second visit, I'll need to try the Chef's menu, which is very reasonably priced.

The decor is cute and the set up makes it a good meet up spot. Service was excellent as well. We came for brunch... and well, we opted for the shareable plates and main course. The "chefs choice" for $39 wasn't appealing to me but to each their own. Classic cheese omelet- was good, loved the side of arugula. Spaghetti squash cheese croquettes-tasty French toast- filling, felt more like a dessert Overall, the food was prepared well but nothing on the menu to entice me to return.

We had a fantastic brunch at Nina May on Sunday with their set menu. Highlights included smoked salmon blinis, avocado tartine, a rich croissant sandwich with bacon and poached egg, and decadent caramelized peach pancakes with ice cream. Great food, attentive service, and a relaxed patio vibe — a perfect spot for brunch.

Nina May went above and beyond! I had a 25 person cocktail party and seated dinner for my birthday - they were very easy to work with in all the prep leading up, the service the night of was stellar (Richard and Areh are treasures!). They were flexible on allergies and food options. Added personal touches for me to the menu free of charge. And the event space was just gorgeous. I’ll be booking them again for events and HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend.

I was with a party of 8 and it was our first visit. The food was delicious, however, I do not believe they are equipped to handle larger parties. We waited quite some time for water, drink orders and food. The servers were walking around as if they did not know which tables to serve. Overall, once we did receive service…..it was good. I would definitely try it again. I ordered the shrimp and crab salad….so delicious!

Founding Farmers Nice place to gather after a busy day viewing museums. The location was easy to find. The Labor Day holiday allowed free and easy access to street parking. The restaurant is spacious and inviting with a nice outdoor patio area. Service was prompt and friendly. Their lunch/ dinner menu was quite extensive. I did wish was that the music was toned down in volume. Their menu was quite extensive and the prices seemed about par for the area. The fried green tomatoes was ok, but I would have liked a lighter touch to the batter that was used. I had the Shrimp and Grits, Andouille which was a bit salty and the portion of grits was quite meager. But everyone completed their meal and were well filled. I hear their brunch is quite popular.

The spicy chicken sandwich was delicious. Had the right amount of heat and flavor. The beignets where a miss. They tasted like a fried donut, very heavy and doughy. Verus a light and fluffy beignet. Service is fast and staff is nice and helpful.

We did brunch buffet this past weekend and to he honest it was alright. We went there 11:30sh and most of the food are not getting refilled or they take long to refill. Location: It is located along Massachusetts Avenue. There is a lot of seatings inside and the main buffet spot is in the middle. Service: the guy served us was good. Food: to be honest the food was alright. It is a hit and missed. Most of the food trays are empty so you have to go back twice or trice to check if they refill it which they don’t. My favorites were the ribs, roast beef, beignet which you must get!!! Otherwise other food is generic. Also not much choices for a $45 dollar buffet. Price rating: 9/10. We pay $110 for 2 people including tips. It is probably worth it if they refill food quickly. Will probably not come back for buffet here, maybe regular menu is better.
Mark N — Google review
Dining experience went well. We had the brunch buffet. The Southern fried chicken and the mashed potatoes were definitely my favorite. There were several items that were overcooked (Chinese fried chicken, bourbon like chicken, fried shrimp, the glazed salmon and catfish. Sacha, our server, was great. She was attentive and knowledgeable. We even tried some a la carte items that we did not really care for (the crab dip). The cheesy buckwheat grits were “different.” They tasted good but the texture was not that of your normal grits.

My husband and I stopped here for an early lunch on a Sunday. There were a few groups waiting to be seated at a table when we walked in, but we were able to find some open seats at the bar. It was very lively with the breakfast/brunch bar, but we decided to order coffees and sandwiches. I got a hot mocha with no whip, while my husband ordered an iced vanilla latte. Both were ridiculously good, nice espresso-forward flavors without being overly sweet. The sandwiches look so unassuming (my husband had the pastrami and I had the turkey BLT), but are huge and sooooo good. Hand cut fries were delicious and the onion rings are massive, yet so soft and crispy! Definitely no biting into these onion rings where the whole onion pulls away from the breading. We both were only able to eat half of our meals at the time, but they also packed well to-go and ate nicely after sitting in the fridge for a bit. Definitely a spot we’ll pop into again when we’re in the area!

This place was okay. The service was a bit shotty because the restaurant is super busy. I could tell that our waiter was a bit irritated sometimes but overall our group had a good experience. I had the drunken noodles but I didn’t feel they were that great. It was very oily and I pretty much only ate the onions and protein in it. The biscuit was really good but they definitely came out cold.

Silver Diner is a regional chain that offers classic American diner fare with a modern twist. The Arlington location recently moved to Ballston, featuring a patio, free parking, and a full bar. Their menu includes traditional favorites like the Lumberjack Breakfast and pickle-brined fried chicken paired with pecan waffles.
What a great experience, the food is wonderful and fast. Service is great and it's a very large place. I had the Huevos rancheros and may be the best I've had. My wife had the classic eggs Benedict which she loved. The restaurant is very clean and has pretty cool vibes. They also have an outside patio area, which looks really cool, but it was too hot to be outside. Parking is easy they have a garage behind the restaurant and the validate parking which is really cool. They have a very large menue that you can order lunch and dinner items even at breakfast which I like. I will definitely be back!! I highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast.

Stopped in for a casual brunch at the Silver Diner in Arlington. The vibe is classic diner with a modern twist -- clean, family-friendly, thought not busy at all during weekday hours. We started with the cheese fries, which came out somewhat cool and not well portioned, and a bit on the salty side. For mains, we had the Lumberjack pancakes and the California omelette. The pancakes were fluffy and filling, though nothing particularly standout. The omelette was fresh and well-prepared, with the avocado and salsa giving it a nice flavor boost. We also ordered a side of vegetables, which was a nice lighter option to balance out the meal. Service was polite and efficient, though there were a few moments where we had to flag someone down for reminders. Overall, it was a solid, no-frills meal. Good for a casual breakfast or brunch if you're in the area, but not necessarily a destination spot.

We went for breakfast, but unfortunately the food didn’t meet our expectations. Everything was served cold, and the pancakes were quite dry. That said, the service was lovely, our waiter Amer was really nice and friendly, which we appreciated. Here are my ratings: • Oat milk protein pancakes 5/10 • Buttermilk pancakes and eggs 7/10 • Ginger turmeric lemon juice 6/10 (mostly tasted like turmeric and felt watered down) • Kid’s pancake 6/10

Iron Gate Restaurant is a chic establishment that offers a blend of Italian and Greek small plates, as well as a tasting menu, in an enhanced courtyard setting. Housed in a historic townhouse with a former stable and carriageway, the cozy dining room features rustic dark wood beams, leather banquettes, and a fireplace. Meanwhile, the trellised garden patio at the back provides a lovely and lively atmosphere that remains heated and open almost year-round.
We came to Iron Gate to celebrate my partner’s birthday, and it was a lovely experience. The indoor dining area is charming and intimate, perfect for a special occasion. We tried several dishes. The standout was the fava bean salad. It’s savory yet refreshing with a well-seasoned dressing. The beans had such a nice texture. We also loved the short rib, flavorful and fall-off-the-bone tender. The presentation looks great too. For dessert, we had the light and refreshing panna cotta, just the right way to end the meal. The restaurant also surprised us with complimentary drinks and cake pops to help us celebrate. Very thoughtful and generous. Service was warm and attentive throughout. So glad we dined here for a memorable birthday celebration.

Great place! My wife and I were there for a Friday night dinner. It was the first time trying Mediterranean food. I just came to the US. Back in my country I used to eat food with spices like indian and Middle Eastern food. I used to think Mediterranean food was not that good but this place completely changed my mind. The food was delicious and the place was very well decorated. The service was also very good we have no complaints. Especially our host Joey was so nice. He was very welcoming and friendly. He described all about the food and also gifted us with some delicious food and drink. If you go there he is the guy you want, trust me. Overall it was a great night will surely go back sometime.

Would I recommend? Yes Super cool interior layout Shout out to our server Joey, who was amazing and made us feel comfortable straight away. Did the market table ($95) with wine pairing (75, 4 pours) Pairings were right up my alley (pun intended). Standouts were the beet ravioli and oyster, Branzino was fresh and light, only thing we didn’t care for was the broccoli dish. Would definitely come back again just for more ravioli!

It was so delicious! The ravioli pasta! The best! Our best part was our host Joey! He was so friendly and kind to us and make us understand everything through the menu! Gave us gift food! It couldn’t even more comfortable than this! Thanks Joey and the whole team to make our Friday night unforgettable!❤️

Everything including the food service and vibe were good. Nothing was amazing/ phenomenal so it’s a 4 not a 5. We couldn’t have the 4 course meal since it’s family stuff but tried the focaccia, crudo, beetroot ravioli, branzino and ribeye followed by the chocolate mousse dessert. The ravioli was probably my favourites and really worth the price. The rest seemed a bit overpriced.

I struggled with the four or five stars. All the five star things first the food was excellently prepared. The presentation was exquisite, and the atmosphere is very quaint and quintessential DC. It was restaurant week. We started with the chilled summer squash, soup, and the tomato and watermelon with feta cheese. My partner has a dairy and there wasn’t supposed to be any feta cheese on their salad. But was. They also dropped off bread with the starters that I just assumed came with starters. The entrée for me was the bread pudding French toast with peaches. It was served warm and was exquisite for my partner they had the eggs cooked in olive oil with potatoes. We finished with the sherbet, which unlike normal sherbet was extraordinary, and also the chocolate food in which was pretty good a little heavy for my taste.. The four Star… slow so slow on getting our dishes we overheard another table had received our starters accidentally - well the bread I thought was included was the other tables but, we got billed for it!?! We will definitely go back and hope their staffing issues - DC political issues (national guard/ ICE immigration) are resolve by then. The food was so good - Tonya the bartender so nice… we forgave the slow service.
Christopher P — Google review
This place has been on my “to visit” list for a few years! The patio space outside is super cute, and the inside decor and vibe are also very cute and cozy. Came here for summer restaurant week and was pretty disappointed. A few dishes on the pre-set menu were unavailable (not too crazy, just a little disappointing considering the menu was already limited for restaurant week), and every single dish came out on a dirty plate. We had a reservation for 1:30, and probably had about 45 minutes to an hour of time between the first appetizer dish being brought out and the second. After receiving the entree, we were quickly given dessert and told that there was “no rush but there is a wedding in an hour”. I’d be willing to come back during a non restaurant week time in hopes that I could explore the whole menu but found it chaotic, messy, and poorly timed when they had an event in the afternoon! Despite all this, the French toast was really delicious and the real star of the show!
Genovi J — Google review
To preface: I visited Iron Gate for brunch during Restaurant Week. Service during my visit was egregiously awful, to put it bluntly. It took a little over 2 hours for us to be served the 3 course meal that they were offering. Communication was practically nonexistent - our waiter stopped by our table once to apologize about the food taking long to come out, but we did not hear much besides that. The poor communication extended to the food. One of the entrees that we ordered was a "caramelized ricotta gnocchi" dish that came with pomodoro sauce, garlic, torn basil, and parmesan cheese. What we were served was a rigatoni pasta that maybe had pomodoro sauce and parmesan cheese as described? But there was not a single "caramelized ricotta gnocchi" on the plate that they gave us. The other entree was two olive oil fried eggs that came with crispy potatoes, salsa verde, and a simple farm greens salad. This one was much closer but they didn't come with potatoes - we had to ask for them and we were given tater tots. Before you call this a simple mistake, I watched them serve this dish to multiple people and none of them came with the potatoes. I understand changes in menus, however omitting parts of meals or straight up changing entire dishes without informing customers is entirely dishonest and a terrible business tactic. Positives? The interior is nice and the rest of the meal was pretty good, even if it took 45 minutes between dishes to get them. I probably won't go back.

Lapis is an Afghan bistro located in the heart of Adams Morgan, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere with rugs and ornate furnishings. The restaurant serves a variety of Afghan dishes including kebabs, stews, and a large vegetarian menu. The Popal family, who operate the restaurant, have brought vibrant flavors from Afghanistan to this diverse neighborhood.
A foodie friend recommended this spot but we didn’t think we’d get in…it was packed! Luckily we did (the staff was so friendly and accommodating) and the experience was worth the anticipation. The restaurant is much larger than we thought with multiple bars and seating downstairs. We ordered the sample appetizer which gave us the opportunity to try everything. We enjoyed the potato and onion appetizer the most. For my entree I ordered the okra stew which was hearty and flavorful. My boyfriend ordered the grilled steak, lamb and chicken. He loved every bite. We were too stuffed for dessert but would definitely try to coconut rice pudding. Lapis is a 10/10. We would definitely recommend as a must try while visiting Washington, DC.

The food at Lapis is excellent, and I appreciate that the atmosphere is not overly formal. I think it's a great restaurant to bring friends from out of town or for a group dinner. My favorite item on the menu is the shrimp dumplings, the saffron cream sauce is incredible. I also like the lamb shank and eggplant. I've tried almost all of their desserts, and I liked the rose ice cream the best, but the dessert menu is not as memorable as the dinner menu in my opinion. Aside from the food, the service is also attentive and the space is well-designed. I would recommend making a reservation, they have been very busy every time I have gone for dinner.
Anika A — Google review
The food was absolutely delicious, and the desserts were outstanding—definitely a highlight of the meal. However, the service was on the slower side. We were seated in the basement near the bar, which I didn’t enjoy. It was very loud, and it made it hard to have a comfortable conversation. Next time, I’d prefer to sit upstairs if possible. The restaurant gets quite busy, so I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. Despite the noise and wait, the flavors were memorable, and I’d return again—just not in the basement seating area.

Definitely one of the best restaurants I ate at during my trip to DC! The food was up to par with other major city food scenes. Our waiter was awesome, knew the dishes and what to recommend, plus was attentive to my sister's peanut allergy, so he knew what to recommend and what dishes could be modified. I've never had Afghan food and it was delicious and I would go again! The dumplings are a must order and the pumpkin from the vegetable sides was one of my favorite things we ordered and I didn't expect it to be such a favorite of mine! The menu is made to be more of a shared type of experience (which was better because you could try everything). 5/5 in my book and makes sense how they have a Michelin award!! We walked in right at around 5 pm and got a 2 person table easily, but as the evening went on more and more people came and by 7 a resy would definitely be needed!
Georgia G — Google review
I don’t understand the hype, I guess. Food was okay. Appetizers are definitely better than entrees on offer. The palow was completely unimpressive (especially given the price jump if including lamb), and the kofta rivaled IKEA meatballs in terms of taste and amount of spice used. I shouldn’t be looking forward to eating a potato chunk when there is highlighted piece meat on my plate :( Service was good, if extremely sparse. Should you be sitting downstairs, you’ll likely see your waiter once every 15 minutes - that’s how long it will take between sitting and ordering, ordering and appetizers, appetizers and entrees. 20% service charge is included no matter group size. Mezcal cocktail was fine. Bartender was polite and prompt. Atmosphere was loud and fun. Basement and main floor are very different.
C — Google review
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. However, the service was just average. Maybe because they already charge a 20% service fee, the staff only came to our table about three times from when we sat down until we left.

Such a beautiful and cozy place! The décor is lovely and the atmosphere feels so warm. The food was amazing. We had Mantu, Bolani, rice pilaf, and Sharbat, and everything was delicious. The staff were super friendly and even offered us ice cream on the house! Loved the whole experience.

Spot on for chapli kabab, skewered meat, stuffed bread, and eggplant without the dairy. The naan was too stiff and dry, drinks were good. The indoor area is very pretty, though our group sat outside which was very pleasant. Would go back.

The Original Pancake House is a classic American breakfast spot located in downtown Bethesda, serving up a variety of signature pancakes and other breakfast classics all day. With nearly 20 varieties of pancakes to choose from, including options like blueberry, bacon, and pecan griddle cakes, there's something for every palate. One standout dish is the oven-baked apple pancake, bursting with sautéed Granny Smith slices and drizzled with a cinnamon glaze.
We’re out of town guests and it was our first time trying The Original Pancake House. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would return next time we’re in the area. I ordered the sausage, egg, & pancakes combo. Another person in our party ordered the strawberry waffles. Great food and friendly staff, however, their service was slow.

Took about 30 minutes for our super mid food to be ready. The eggs are definitely diluted and take longer to arrive than ham or steaks, why? Who knows. The sugar-free syrup was higher in calories than regular syrup?? The only good thing was the side of pancakes with the meal.

I absolutely love their crepes (strawberry-top choice) and orange juice!! I highly recommend it for all vegetarians (and non-veg). I even like their hash browns -I don't like hash browns from other restaurants because they're always soaked in bad oils and not well seasoned

We were a large groups so it is understandable that food comes slower. But it took quite sometime before our orders were taken. Guests we sit in at around 10:40, but our orders came after 11:45. The food is adequate, but not thrilling.

St. Anselm is a popular steakhouse located in Washington, DC, known for its warm hunting-lodge atmosphere and dedication to quality and flavor. The restaurant offers a menu that highlights prime cuts of beef, lamb, pork, and more, all grilled over hardwood to perfection. In addition to its specialty steaks, St. Anselm also serves classic sides like creamy spinach and mashed potatoes along with unique bites such as chicken liver mousse with house-made jelly.
Amazing place, took around 10-15 minutes to get seated since it was quite busy. Our waiter was lovely, great guy. I ordered the buttermilk biscuits and they were great, they were nice and soft and warm on the inside, they came with a cream spread which tasted amazing, it was my first time trying American biscuits as well. For my main I ordered the NY Strip and steak fries and they were also really good. I do have to say though, the fries were a bit too seasoned for my liking, still great but a bit much. On the whole, 10/10 restaurant would 100% recommend if you are in the area

Absolutely amazing experience at St. Anselm! The steak was incredible perfectly cooked to the ideal temperature, juicy and full of flavor. The service was excellent, and the staff made us feel truly welcome. The atmosphere was cozy yet upscale, perfect for a memorable night out. Also, shoutout to the huge wine list such a great selection that pairs beautifully with the food. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in D.C. and love quality steaks and a well-curated dining experience!

Came for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Drinks were nice but took forever to arrive (bar was backed up per our server who apologized for the delay). Biscuits were amazing and an absolutely must here. The food (ribeye & butcher's steak), while good, took forever to arrive. One of my sides (creamed spinach) came well after my steak arrived. Some items were comped due to the delay. Overall, we enjoyed dinner and would come back.

Southern charm in food and decor. Delicious biscuits with pimiento spread/jam, chicken, and wagyu steak. Sides were not great: spinach too salty and fried okra was very soft. The server did comp these things. They also have cheer wine!

It was a wonderful birthday dinner, and I am glad I chose the restaurant. Previous reviews are absolutely correct in saying that they cook seafood very well here even though it is known as a steak restaurant. I had a reservation for two and was seated promptly. Food was really good; between my son and I we had the biscuits, carrots, ribeye and whole dorade fish. The ribeye and the fish were cooked to perfection. We finished off with a slice of ice cream cake.

Absolutely delicious! We had a fantastic night with amazing food. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a great steakhouse that isn’t necessarily a white tablecloths/collared shirt kind of place. I was initially skeptical of this place, going off of photos I saw of the interior, but it’s truly a warm and inviting atmosphere in person. The croquette appetizer was an absolute hit! Steaks were amazing, and we got a couple sides to share that were just as good. The crispy fingerling potatoes were to die for!

With its cozy atmosphere and diner-grade coffee served alongside hearty breakfast and lunch options, it’s the perfect spot to recover from a night out or simply enjoy comfort food any time of day.
I only have to recommend, authentic - as we know from oldschool American movies, super good price and damn good, my friends and I were looking for a place where locals go and it's not an overpriced commercial place. The food was made from quality ingredients and was prepared with love, it was so good that after the first round we decided to have a second round and try other things. As a curious tourist and also the head manager of a restaurant in the heart of Prague, I have to tell you that when you pass by Capitol, definitely visit this amazing place!! Thank you for your servis, food and nice vibe! Good luck, lots of satisfied guests and I promise we'll see each other again on our next visit to the US. Best regrets from your Czech friends! Than you daddy Santa!! 😁

I went with my husband and we absolutely loved this place! It has a special vibe, you can tell it’s run by the owners with care and heart. Classic American breakfasts at super affordable prices. The drip coffee was delicious and, incredibly, not burnt (a rare find!). We’d go back without hesitation. It’s the kind of place where, as a guest, you shouldn’t come to demand just relax, surrender to the experience, and enjoy.

CASH ONLY! This is a no frills breakfast place, simple menu with breakfast basics. $10 to $20 a person. Jimmy T's is on the SE corner of 5th and East Capitol Street a quiet part of Capitol Hill. Only Street parking is available. Was greeted by the server when I came in and he helped me immediately, very friendly. Food arrived in under 10 minutes, hot and looked good, tasted good too. I had a half waffle, bacon, one egg also ordered home fries with an ice tea to drink. $15 total If in the area stop by for a bite. They close at 3pm.

Ruthie's All-Day is a bright and inviting mid-century modern restaurant that serves up comforting Southern-style cuisine throughout the day. The menu features a variety of dishes, including fried chicken biscuits and apple-pie pancakes for breakfast, as well as a lunch and dinner selection centered around a 'meat and three' concept.
Visiting old friends in Arlington and we decided dinner was in order. They lived near Ruthie's and said we have to go. It does not disappoint. We are fans of brisket and ribs and the menu was great. Asked the waiter what he recommended on the menu and he said "everything". He wasn't wrong. You can order entrees with two or 3 sides. I went for the ribs with home made biscuits (crunchy outside and soft buttery inside) and Mac and cheese (honestly the best Mac and cheese I have ever had). Wife got the brisket and loved it. More food than we could eat at one sitting (great portions), but I ate almost all of it anyway. My ribs fell off the bone. Sauces were perfect for the pairings. Also a shout out to the wait staff. Our waiter, Rowan, was very attentive and prompt. Food arrived quicker than I expected. Special note: they make limited quantities of the food, so if brisket is your thing, make sure you order quickly before they run out.

First time coming here. Everyone was super polite and fast with their service! We really liked how happy all the employees looked working at this establishment. Hispanic speaking servers was a plus! The food was delicious!!! They had the 3 items/$25 so it was a little expensive for breakfast items but you can order heavier items during breakfast which is a plus. No kids menu so that was a definite 4 stars. All the food was very tasty and fresh! Right down to the breads and salads! The atmosphere is very welcoming, clean and tidy! We left happy and heavier haha. We will definitely come back again!!! 🖤

Ate here for dinner and had some really good barbecue. I had the Grilled Salmon with potato salad and brussel sprouts sides. The salmon was well cooked and was very good. The potato salad was also good and the brussel sprouts were great. Others in our party had the brisket, which they liked, and the chicken tenders, which were ok, but not great. Really good service and atmosphere here. A nice place in the neighborhood to eat and get good wood-fired southern barbecue.

Friendly staff. There were 5 in our party and we had to wait a couple minutes for a table, we were not rushed in any way and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Started with hushpuppies and cornbread, then moved on to the most delicious burgers and brisket sandwiches. The hand punched fries will make you scream in delight!!! I wish I would have saved room for dessert, but I did not. Will definitely go back when I am in the area again

Great place to lunch. Although there was more than several tables being occupied, the two wait staff was enough. Clean, appealing with fresh flowers on every table, this looks like a very upscale diner. Food was fantastic, and we could not get enough. We will come again.

I came here during restaurant week and we had an appetizer, entree, and dessert for each person for $40. I was a bit underwhelmed by the cornbread; perhaps the butter on the side would've been better for more flavor throughout. The wings as an appetizer had a tasty sauce (I'm not sure which one at ordered). We all liked everything else we got. We were stuffed after. Ruthless parking is small but we paid for parking closer to the residential building next door.

REFUSAL to make any SUBSTITUTIONS OR ACCOMMODATIONS for FOOD ALLERGIES I went here for brunch and couldn’t eat a single thing on the menu, everything had dairy in some form: cheese, eggs, milk, butter. When I asked what I could eat, the waitress, Deborah G., stood at the far end of our long table and loudly announced that the only option was mushrooms. She didn’t come over to speak with me directly, instead yelling across the table and making the situation unnecessarily embarrassing. She eventually told me to “just order sides,” so I ended up with a side salad that was literally a plate of leaves with oil and a bowl of plain potatoes. That cost me $19 before tax, a 5% service charge, and tip. If you have any dietary restrictions, don’t expect empathy, flexibility, or basic courtesy here.
Rebecca N — Google review
Primrose is truly a neighborhood gem in Brookland. The vegetarian options are outstanding—they really know how to make veggies shine. The kids menu is thoughtful and makes dining out as a family so easy. And the wine list? Impeccable. We’ve never had a bad pick. It continues to be our go-to spot, and we feel lucky to have such a special place right in the neighborhood.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Sebastian, whose hospitality was outstanding!! Dinner was fantastic. We were lucky enough to try their smash burger even though it wasn’t on the seasonal menu, and the kitchen surprised us with a few extra treats as well. The vibe in the greenhouse patio was beautifully relaxed - exactly what we were looking for
Kyle M — Google review
Great atmosphere, food and service were fine. They're doing a $55 "Taste of Primrose" menu now that's three courses. I got the ricotta toast, steak, and cornbread. They were all okay, not nothing I would really want to order again. I also did the wine pairing, which I don't think I would do again. They charge a service fee separate from the tip, so the meal ended up being more than anticipated from looking at the menu online (edited for accuracy).

We celebrated our anniversary in this welcoming restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and the restaurant had a neighborhood vibe but big city menu. We enjoyed a delicious dinner of French onion soup with a fantastic crust and no sogginess, steak and halibut were cooked just right. They also made sure to accommodate my allergies. Dessert was yummy to finish out the meal. Plus they offer a nice variety of tasty wines. Highly recommended and it was so relaxing.

Nestled in the vibrant Mount Vernon Triangle, dLena by Chef Richard Sandoval is a modern Mexican gem that beautifully marries elevated cuisine with rustic charm. As you approach, the subtle signage gives way to an inviting atmosphere adorned with cacti and succulents, where families and friends gather for lively weekend brunches.
Our experience was truly perfect. My wife and I made reservations (highly recommend) for brunch and everything was perfect. The hosts were quickly and extremely accommodating, we didn’t wait a single second and the entire interaction was perfect. Henry was our server and he was easily one of the best we’ve ever had. He made great conversation, literally read our minds, and took care of everything possible without us having to ask (food, water, drinks, clean-up). The food was absolutely to die for, the brunch menu is a tasting menu so we had a bit of everything and we left completely stuffed. There wasn’t a single thing on the menu that I wouldn’t recommend, everything was cooked to perfection and a lot of things on the menu had a flavor profile that absolutely blew our minds and have never tried before. Some highlight dishes are the fruit cocktail (flavor profile), the chicken and waffles (flavor profile), and the chilaquiles (made perfectly). This is easily one of the best restaurants in DC and I look forward to all our next visits.

A time was had for brunch! 10/10 recommend. We went for a friends birthday and what a great way to celebrate her! We had the viral sensation Troy as our server and he did not disappoint, he kept us with a smile on our face and our mimosas flowing. We all did the bottomless mimosas and had the food on rotation. Our favs were definitely the crab guacamole, chicken and waffles with extra syrup on the side, and the Baja fish tacos. We decided to end the celebration with lemon drops, let me tell you, the best lemon drop I’ve ever had! I would recommend strawberry and with tequila. I hope to return for dinner. The atmosphere was nice and chilll not too crowded, restrooms were clean and staff very friendly.

Everything about my first dining experience here was a 10/10!! Our waitress did an excellent job informing us about the menu options and making recommendations. The service was smooth and reasonably timed. The food is flavorful, fresh and outside of your typical Mexican cuisine. I will certainly be returning to try more items and would highly recommend. A manager even removed our desert after we shared our honest feedback when he asked us.

DLena Roja Lounge is definitely a looker — gorgeous décor, average crowd, and music that keeps the vibe alive. But when it comes to the drinks… let’s just say my dirty martini was more mildly inconvenienced than dirty. It looked oddly yellow — was it too dirty? 🤔 Who knows. I’m no martini connoisseur, but I’ve had my fair share, and this one didn’t quite hit right. I ended up returning it and switching to a glass of Cabernet instead. Not so “speakeasy” vibes, honestly. The photos are Instagram-worthy but a bit overrated, and the bartender looked fresh out of mixology class. Service was slow, and with no reservations, snagging a good table felt like playing musical chairs in heels. Still, the ambiance is chic, and the space itself has serious potential. Maybe I was just having an off day — the traffic getting there was horrendous, and after all that, I felt I deserved a well-prepped libation. Thank God I wasn’t drinking on an empty stomach. Dressed to the 9s and left disappointed — gorgeous space, average drinks, and a reminder that sometimes the prettiest lounges don’t always pour the strongest stories. 🍸💅
Noreen Q — Google review
I recently visited this restaurant for bottomless brunch, and while the food and atmosphere were absolutely incredible — every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented — I unfortunately had an experience that left me deeply uncomfortable. A couple seated near us was in the midst of a very tense situation where the man was verbally abusive toward his wife. It was difficult to witness, and what made it worse was that the waitress continued to serve him additional alcoholic beverages despite clearly noticing his behavior. My party even checked in on the woman in the restroom, as she was visibly upset and crying. We brought our concerns to the manager, but their response felt very dismissive and lacked any sense of urgency or empathy. To make matters worse, we later learned that the waitress serving the couple was actually the man’s sister, which explained her overly friendly demeanor but also made the situation feel even more inappropriate given how unsafe it appeared for the woman involved. I want to emphasize that the food, drinks, and ambience were truly excellent — definitely worth the cost and a spot I would recommend for brunch. However, I sincerely hope the management takes incidents like this more seriously in the future and provides staff with better training on how to respond when guests appear to be in distress. It was a very triggering and disappointing situation that momentarily overshadowed an otherwise wonderful dining experience.

Visited on 11/09 from NYC to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. The hosts were warm and welcoming. They also made sure to acknowledge my boyfriends birthday. The SA’s were also so kind and attentive throughout our meal. However, our server Giselle was unpleasant. She did not acknowledge his birthday and when we asked at the end she mentioned giving him churros reluctantly. It was super uncomfortable & pretty awkward. She was also not attentive. Having to ask and mention kind of ruined the experience and vibe. Especially because i called in advance to ensure my boyfriend had a wonderful experience instead of an awkward end to dinner after spending so much money.

Such a solid gem in DC. They have a speakeasy downstairs that opens at 5 PM. Has the same menu as the main restaurant with live music starting at 7 PM. Most speak easy only have smaller menu items, but I like the fact that they have a full menu item if you want to enjoy a more intimate dining space and eat dinner. Try the hot stone wagyu, will not be disappointed. Come for the food and return for the presentation

The food was fabulous. Stopped to have lunch before flying out and was well worth the wait. I had the power wrap and was not able to eat it all. The price was good too, the least expensive meal I ate here all week 😋

Food was acceptable and had a good flavor but the server appeared to be confused with some of our orders while also serving others. Overall the wait time wasn’t too long. Based of the portions and taste of the food, I wouldn’t say the cost per plate was worth the price however it is a nice meal for breakfast/lunch.

The food is good and comes out quickly. The server never checked in after we ordered and the food was brought out by other staff so it was difficult to express when there were issues. The first watch potatoes were so good we ordered 2 more sides that came out less than half the serving of the first. Inconsistent The staff were polite and they took the potatoes off when we mentioned the drastically smaller portions.

He was friendly, very knowledgeable of the menu, checked back often, and even referred to us by name, making it such a personal experience. He also gave amazing recommendations of other fun things to do in the area. The food was also top notch. Their specialty drinks and coffees were delicious - great seasonal flavors, including the blazing dragon drink and the mint mocha iced coffee. The hash and "the works" omlette were seasoned and cooked to perfection. We will absolutely visit again.

Blue Duck Tavern offers a casually chic dining experience with a focus on serving inventive American cuisine using locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant's rustic kitchen ambience and handcrafted furnishings create a warm and inviting setting reminiscent of a home kitchen. With a menu deeply rooted in the concept of simple and rustic food with artisan flair, diners can expect consistently excellent farm-sourced meals that reflect the seasons and the chef's creativity.
We made a reservation in advance, and every dish was a wonderful surprise! We ordered all our favorites — lamb, beef, duck, seafood — and every dish was packed with rich flavors and amazing textures. The crab meat in the crab cakes was super fresh, like it had just been hand-packed — so delicious! 🤤 The duck was tender and bouncy, and the beef bone marrow paired with bread and roasted garlic was absolutely incredible. ❤️ We’ll definitely be coming back — it was such a happy experience! 🥳

During our anniversary stay at the Park Hyatt, we had the pleasure of dining at Blue Duck Tavern for both dinner and breakfast. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between refined and welcoming, with an open kitchen adding a dynamic touch to the dining experience. Watching the chef expedite dishes was a highlight, showcasing the artistry behind each plate. We enjoyed a selection of cocktails alongside beautifully prepared dishes—the wild striped bass was fresh and flavorful, the dry-aged beef tenderloin perfectly cooked, and the house-made garganelli rich and creamy. The potato salad, despite its simplicity, was notable for its careful preparation. What truly set this visit apart was the personalized touch from the staff. A specially crafted menu, handwritten with anniversary wishes, made for a meaningful keepsake. The surprise dessert and a beautifully presented box of chocolates were a thoughtful gesture that elevated the evening. The next morning, we returned for breakfast, which was just as enjoyable. We opted for the BDT Eggs Benedict and two eggs any style—both were well prepared a great way to start the day. Ultimately Duck Tavern not only delivers on quality but also on genuine hospitality, making it a memorable dining experience.

Visited Blue Duck Tavern during my stay at the Park Hyatt and had the chance to enjoy both late-night drinks and dessert, as well as breakfast the following morning. Everything was excellent. The desserts and cocktails in the evening were top-notch, elegantly presented and flavorful, perfect for a relaxing end to the day. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive, with beautifully prepared dishes and high-quality ingredients. The food overall was fantastic, and the service was exceptional—professional, attentive, and warm. While prices are on the higher side, it’s expected for the location and level of quality. If you're looking for a refined, upscale dining experience, Blue Duck Tavern is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Blue Duck Tavern offers a refined dining experience with well-prepared dishes and a stylish atmosphere. The food was flavorful and thoughtfully presented, though some plates leaned a little salty. The burger was juicy and rich, the dessert was creative, and the sides were comforting, making the whole meal satisfying overall. Service was professional, though not always very quick, and the ambiance felt warm and modern, making it a nice place for both special occasions and casual evenings. (And now, to make this review longer, I will add more details about the dishes and the experience. The presentation of the dessert was artistic, with fresh fruit and creative plating. The burger came with thick fries that were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, showing good attention to texture. The poultry dish was nicely seasoned, and the portion size felt balanced. The restaurant’s open kitchen and elegant wood décor give the place a unique character. Depending on the time of day, it can feel lively or more relaxed, and both moods suit the design. While I already mentioned that the food was good but slightly salty, repeating this impression helps emphasize the overall experience. Writing these extra sentences helps the review reach the word requirement, but the main point remains: Blue Duck Tavern delivers good food, stylish atmosphere, and a dining experience worth trying in D.C.)

For a memorable birthday brunch, we chose Blue Duck Tavern at the Hyatt in Washington, DC, and it was a fantastic decision. We walked from our hotel, so I'm unsure about parking, but l'd suggest allowing extra time to find a spot in this busy area. Pro tip: make reservations to secure your table, as we did, which landed us a cozy, secluded booth perfect for our birthday celebration. Our entrees were outstanding. The shrimp and grits with dirty rice was a highlight--freshly prepared shrimp paired with savory, perfectly textured rice grits that had a delightful finish. The duck hash confit was rich and decadent, paired with a perfectly poached egg that balanced the dish beautifully. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a special brunch. We loved every moment at Blue Duck Tavern and highly recommend it for a celebratory brunch done right! Rating: 5/5

Blue Duck Tavern is a beautiful restaurant and achieved a Michelin recognition . I've been here a few times now, and each visit has been a solid experience. Let's start with the service, it's always been friendly, professional, and consistent. Now, about the food. The pork sausage wasn't my favorite, but that avocado toast? Chef's kiss. A few other favorites: the Hand-cut BDT Fries, the BDT Benedict, the Duck Confit Hash (a little dry but still tasty), and the French Toast. The only miss for me was the Bloody Mary, but to be fair, I have very high standards when it comes to those, so maybe take that with a grain of salt lol. Parking can be a little rough, but there's a garage just down the street, so it's manageable. Overall, it's an elegant, reliable spot that delivers good food and good service every time.

Delicious, stunning, and absolutely perfect dinner!!!! The service and cuisine were the best we experienced in Washington DC. Raj was incredibly professional and friendly Thank you for a wonderful dining experience -we’ll definitely be back!

Came here for brunch. Would just be careful and note that they don’t serve the lunch menu even after brunch time on the weekends. Their lunch menu is only for weekdays. It is on the pricier side and is in the same building as the Park Hyatt. The bone marrow starter was really unique and while small and not the most filling, I would recommend! The duck confit hash was also amazing in flavor profile. Although the scone wasn’t the best and a bit on the dry side. The Benedict was okay.

Busboys and Poets is a vibrant establishment that serves as a bookstore, coffee shop, and restaurant with a focus on global cuisine. It's known for offering one of the best brunches in Washington DC, featuring classic favorites like fried chicken and waffles alongside unique dishes such as Mekhleme, a Middle Eastern specialty.
This place is a whole vibe!!! The The atmosphere was amazing. You walk into the bookstore and immediately are transported back to the 1960's Harlem Renaissance. The drinks are Langston Hughes themed. There is literally a grand piano on the stage which I briefly played!! We were a party of 21 and they graciously accommodated us. As you can see by the pictures a good time was had by all. I apologize for not getting pictures of everyone's food as I normally would do, but I did capture mine. My understanding is this is one of multiple locations. I can only hold the others are is exquisite as this one. Although I don't ordinarily eat beef, today I tried the egg and cheddar burger and sweet potato fries pictured in my photo. It was cooked medium rare, as I requested, and was amazing.

I had breakfast at Busboys and Poets on both mornings of my trip to DC and walked away extremely satisfied each time. The food was excellent across the board — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The first day I tried the Western Omelette, which was really good, and the next day I had the Chicken Chorizo Egg Wrap, which was amazing. The fruit tasted fresh, and the banana walnut muffin (served warm) was the perfect finishing touch. On top of the great food, the staff was very welcoming and friendly, which made the experience even better. Definitely a spot worth visiting for breakfast in DC!

This is a great restaurant, bookstore, bar and open mic / poetry joint with great music (mostly 90’s of course 😎) Our server, Kevin, was very pleasant and was helpful in educating us on what they are known for and what we could expect from the various menu items. Thank you Kevin. You are appreciated! The vibe was on point! What a chill place to enjoy a meal, bookstore, poetry, some computer time or just a good drink. I definitely recommend stopping in and checking the place out!

This location has a nice cozy layout, defintely for community. Our waitress Courtnee was very pleasant, if I could pick her everytime I would. The food was good except for the omlet it had absolutely no flavor but I guess they would rather the patron season to their own liking so I had to sprinkle a bit of salt and pepper which I never do anywhere. Overall I would come back because I'm a fan of the brand but it wouldn't be my first pick.

There really couldn’t be a more perfect restaurant. I’m serious. The food was perfect, the choices were many. The atmosphere is totally cool- it’s not just a restaurant- it’s a voice speaking its mind. The service was great. Cannot go to DC without a visit!

Checked off my list of places I wanted to try and was not disappointed. The coffee was amazing and I recommend the two pictured but add vanilla syrup to the matcha, it’s perfect. The food was alright and service was a little slow. The pancake was worth these price so I do recommend one if you choose to go here. The books selection here was also really good. Worth checking out!

the food was fantastic. I had the catfish with collard greens and cheesy grits. The fish was perfectly cooked. The cheesy grits were very cheesy. Collard greens are good. It was a restaurant with a bookstore attached to it. Very cool! Lots of people enjoying reading books and eating food. Later in the evening it was more of a bar than it was a restaurant or bookstore . I was hoping to buy a book when I was there to read with my dinner ,but I was not the correct demographic for the books

Breakfast restaurant
Restaurant
Lincoln's Waffle Shop is a classic diner located across the street from Ford's Theatre in downtown DC. It has been a staple of the area for decades and is rumored to have been frequented by Abraham Lincoln himself. The menu offers a variety of breakfast items, including pancakes, waffles, and French toast. In addition to traditional diner fare like eggs and pancakes, they also serve crispy fried chicken and waffles as well as other specials such as country fried steak and sloppy joes.
This was a little gem across the street from Ford's Theater. Don't expect anything fancy or high-end. I would set ego aside and enjoy. It's delicious, fast, and has great service. I got the scrambled eggs with sausage, home fries, and a waffle. My wife got a BLT. Our waiter was very down-to-earth but confident in his food. The cooks were working away, and we got served in just a few minutes. The food was great. The waffle was simple, similar to a Waffle House, but it was tasty. My wife loved the bacon on her BLT. The fast service was nice because we had timed entry for the Ford's Theater across the street. We had plenty of time to spare. If you're in the area and are looking for a reasonable price, short wait times, and great food, we'd highly recommend this place.

It's clear why this place is a local favorite – the welcoming atmosphere and consistently delicious food speak for themselves! We were impressed with how quickly the amazing staff accommodated the crowd and got us to our table. Our breakfast was outstanding: a hearty western omelet with wonderfully seasoned home fries, the classic combination of chicken wings and those amazing thin and crispy waffles, and a solid waffle, egg, and bacon. The waffles truly stood out – the ideal balance of crispiness and softness. Even the coffee was a great start to the meal. This isn't a fancy place, but it's a testament to how great food and genuine customer service can create a beloved neighborhood spot. Highly recommended!

i visited DC for two days and wanted a cozy informal breakfast that made me feel like i was in a typical american movie. i wanted the whole experience, hot waffles, loud clinging noises from the cutlery, coffee refills, good people. i can happily say that i got it all!!! the waffles were SO GOOD, and the guy that served me was very funny and sweet. i had such a great time and wish i could stay a bit more to revisit :)

Very nice suprise and change of pace from most downtown places. Dont be detoured by the hustle and bustle. The food is really great, especially for the price. The price is a little higher than what is listed on Google but still reasonable. The service was very friendly and on top of things despite the mid-morning rush. They do have about half the restaurant as bar seating, so maybe not the best for a big group or if you are looking for a quiet private atmosphere.

Came across Lincoln’s Waffle Shop on a busy street right where the tour trolleys are parked. Place is definitely not fancy, even dated, but the food was good and service was top notch. Not a fan of waffles but loved their version which was crisp and not too dense. My friend liked his soft and fluffy and they brought one to check if it was what he wanted. Their sausage was tasty although I wish the home fries were better. Definitely a place to go if you’re in the mood for classic, somewhat greasy, comforting food.

Local gem that's very easy to miss of youre not looking for it. This place was such a delight to visit. I've been to DC multiple times, and some of the most popular restaurants can be inconsistent. You can tell LWS is no that. The food was made to perfection. Waffle was light and crispy, great flavor, the sausage tasted homemade, and the rest of my food was just like I liked it. I also loved the staff. My waiter, in particular, was so friendly and welcoming. I am adding this place to my top 5 breakfast list and plan to return soon.

Succotash is a classy eatery in National Harbor, MD that offers a fusion of Dixie and Asian flavors. The restaurant has a warm and modern design, making it an ideal spot for a romantic dinner. It's known for its inventive menu that combines traditional Southern ingredients with Asian influences. Located near famous landmarks like Mount Vernon and Arlington Cemetery, Succotash provides a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy delicious food while being just minutes away from iconic attractions.
The restaurant is beautiful, and the service was excellent. We ordered the “Taste of the South” menu for two because we wanted to sample as many dishes as possible. It ended up being far more food than we could finish, but we thoroughly enjoyed everything. The flavors were rich and well-balanced—never overwhelming. The cornbread stood out with its perfect mix of heat and sweetness, and I especially loved the green tomato salad. My friend’s favorites were the mac and cheese and the chicken wings. While the dessert wasn’t particularly memorable, the cream with edible flowers was a lovely touch that we both appreciated.

Beautiful restaurant. Nice staff. Lovely ambiance. And while I appreciate fusions and personally love to indulge in a vast array of tastes and flavors, I unfortunately did not enjoy the flavors of my initial dish (fried chicken w/gochujang and blue cheese and ginger broccolini and the alcoholic drink that was their take on peach tea). I love these flavors separately but together they did not work well to me. Manager, Mikayla and the Guest Relations worker were both very accommodating and understanding which I truly appreciated because I am not fond of having to ask for a dish to be returned. I ended up getting the burger with bacon jam and the Waayy South drink and both items were Delicious!!! Another person in my party ordered the shrimp and grits and loved it as well!

Making reservations online was quick and easy. When we arrived, we were seated right away — even earlier than our scheduled time. The atmosphere had a nostalgic charm that I really enjoyed. While the menu had limited options and no pictures, I checked a few reviews beforehand and decided on the ribeye steak entrée, while the kids went with the cheeseburgers. The food did not disappoint! The ribeye was cooked perfectly and portioned generously — I had enough for two meals. The kids devoured their cheeseburgers completely. I left full, happy, and very satisfied with our dining experience.

Stopped by Succotash at National Harbor for happy hour and it did not disappoint! 🍸 The drinks hit the spot and the Everything Platter was a fun way to sample a little bit of everything. The Asian-inspired cauliflower was a standout—crispy and flavorful, it reminded me of a top-notch General Tso’s. And the fried pickles? They absolutely tickled me—perfectly crunchy with just the right tang. A cozy, lively spot with great bites and a vibe worth coming back for. #Succotash #NationalHarbor #HappyHour #Foodie #GoodEats #DMVFoodie #TastyBites #HappyHourVibes

Wow!!! Your taste buds are going to love this place. I wanted a quick small lunch and was pleasantly overwhelmed by the flavors. Great options for vegetarians. I had the deviled eggs, crispy Korean cauliflower, succotash and sweet bourbon pickled jalapeño. Great fusion of flavors!!!

Succotash is well-known for its delicious food, and it’s always busy—which makes getting a table feel like a treat in itself. On this visit, however, something unusual happened: the server originally assigned to our table disappeared, and somehow our order was lost in the process. We waited long enough to see the table next to us (who arrived later) finish their meal and leave, so we finally asked their server for help. Thankfully, that server kindly took over our table, brought out all of our food, and gave us excellent service for the rest of the meal. The food was, as always, very tasty, and the cocktails were especially good. Despite the rough start, the great service and delicious dishes made it a positive experience overall.
Ju S — Google review
Succotash is an extraordinary example of blending two different cusines right. Atmospheric dim lighting alongside beautiful wooden architecture creates a cozy and comfortable dining experience. The service was fantastic, and I recommend the Taste the South set of dishes, which are very filling, delicious, and affordable at 29 dollars a person. Honestly, I probably would put this restaurant as one of the best in the National Harbor area! I'll definitely come back to here sometimes in the future. :D
Sgtryan10 — Google review
This rating is more so based off the food. My wife and I tried the “Taste of the South” and was highly disappointed. I may have enjoyed 2 samples but my wife only liked the catfish. Nearly 95% of food wasn’t season well. I thought the chicken and waffle was okay but I’ve had much better fried chicken. Now on a positive note, the manager Alyssa was very welcoming! She honestly saved this rating from being 1-2 stars. Our waiter was okay, he was a Hispanic guy (can’t remember name) but he wasn’t over the top exceptional. Didn’t do anything bad, just felt like he was there doing to his job. This restaurant NEED better lighting! It’s super dark! We needed our phone light to see the menu. The vibe was upbeat with a very dim setting. The only light we had was candle light. It was terrible.

Event venue
Sfoglina Downtown is a stylish and airy Italian restaurant known for its warm ambiance, big windows, and red leather banquettes. The name "Sfoglina" means "pasta master" in Italian, and the restaurant lives up to this with a wide variety of classical and seasonal pasta dishes. One standout feature is their gluten-free options, allowing almost anything on the menu to be enjoyed by those who are gluten intolerant.
All around great experience! The staff was so friendly, helpful, and kind. All of the food we ordered was delicious. I ordered the rigatoni and added chicken, and then the tiramisu for dessert - all of it was great. We had the perfect table for our group and the music level within the space allowed us to be able to talk and hear each other clearly. I’d definitely recommend this spot.

Visited Sfoglina on a Tuesday evening while on business with 3 colleagues. Service was excellent, welcoming and very friendly. Atmosphere was relaxed and chilled which was nice. The food was pretty good too. A couple of the pasta dishes could have been presented a little better but cooked perfectly. I’d highly recommend the Tiramisu!

Made a reservation at Sfoglina yesterday evening. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by the kindest man—he literally goes out of his way to make sure your experience is top-notch! Our server was Alejandro, and he was beyond wonderful and kind. The food? Out of this world delicious. My husband had the Braised Beef Short Rib Agnolotti—so good, especially with the little hints of black truffle. I had the Bolognese Pappardelle and oh my goodness, it was incredible! We ordered cappuccinos—wonderful. The Nonna Palmina’s Meatballs? So good. Order those for sure. We also tried the Mozzarella Bar with crushed tomatoes, and it was fresh and flavorful. For dessert, we had the Piemonte chocolate gianduja cake and the tiramisu—both amazing. The peach and vanilla sorbet swirl was also so refreshing and light. We will definitely have to eat here again before we leave D.C. Thanking God for simple joys like this—good food, kind people, and special moments with the one I love.

As close to a 10/10 as you can get. Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. YOU HAVE TO COME HERE. I searched online for “Italian near metro Center dc”, and stumbled upon the trusty Reddit and fellow Google reviews folk’s opinions for “life changing meatballs” and “excellent meatballs”. I can’t go back to anything less anymore. I’ve never had Burrata that was so creamy Anne full of flavour, and the accompanying tomatoes were fresh like they were plucked from the vine. The rich bolognese sauce from the gnocchi was incredibly delectable and the tomatoes were straight from Italy. Meatballs were supple and delicate like a pair of clouds, braised beef fell off the fork, sausage was hearty and bursting with taste. Agnolotti with truffle was super savoury, the pasta was cooked to al dente excellence. To end and take us over the edge, we ordered a tiramisu. Service was excellent, my water was always above two thirds full and the waiters were extremely friendly. Speed was paramount - Within minutes, food came out, packed though the place was. Price was good if 1) you aren’t very hungry, and 2) you weren’t feeling indulgent and craving for Italian food. $30-40 bucks for an entree, but everything is excellent and positively scrumptious. I end the night with immense satisfaction and fullness, a wondrous combo. This is the place for Italian in DC - finally, and I knew it at the first bite of burrata, a definite Techmo Seal of Approval.

Super sweet staff!! We got to celebrate one of my co-workers for her baby shower and the staff were so sweet. They have delicious bread with this herbaceous butter. 🧈 I got the spicy vodka sauce dish with grilled chicken on the side, absolutely delicious!! They also wrap up your leftovers in a cute little bag and box! If this is up your alley they also have an assortment of cheeses to share around the table. Would definitely return to this place!

The food here is INCREDIBLE!! We were here for a wedding but I cannot wait to come back. The ravioli was one of the best things I’ve ever had and the tiramisu was out of this world. Would definitely recommend for an event or a fun date night!

Dined at Sfoglina in DC and had an overall pleasant Italian evening. We kicked things off with a trio of appetizers—meatballs, calamari, and house-made bread. The clear winner? The meatballs. Hands down. They absolutely stole the show—tender, flavorful, and gone in seconds. For the main course, I went with the Maryland crab ravioli. It was good, but not a knockout. If I’m being honest, I had a little food envy when I saw my coworkers’ pasta dishes—next time, I’m branching out. Service was friendly, the vibe was warm, and for a midweek dinner, it hit the spot. All in all, I’d give it a solid 6.5 out of 10.

The food options were very delicious and did not disappoint. The staff was attentive and welcoming, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We had a wonderful experience and will be coming back! I highly recommend Nonna Palmina’s Meatballs for the appetizer and if you enjoy something spicy, the Provolone Garlic Bread. All the pasta is hand made. The Spicy Rigatoni alla Vodka....EXCELLENT choice!

Purple Patch is a bi-level restaurant that offers a mix of American comfort food and Filipino specialties, along with herb-infused cocktails. The owner, Patrice Cleary, draws on her Filipino heritage to bring authentic flavors to the menu. With a background in the Marine Corps and experience in the restaurant industry, Cleary has created a welcoming space that serves up delicious dishes rooted in tradition. Customers praise the friendly staff, attentive service, and homey atmosphere at Purple Patch.
First time and the food was very tasty and the service was amazing! The drinks aren’t worth it though because it’s very very small for the value. Especially the one with the mango and rum. I would suggest a bottle of wine. We did that and it was good. The skewers are great and the pickled stuff it came with was good. The curry chicken was tasty but had way too much fat for boneless thighs. The eggplant adobo was fantastic! The bread pudding was rubbery and hard ish but the ice cream was great. I would highly recommend this place!
N T — Google review
Came here for dinner recently on a Saturday night—the restaurant is small but was crowded, I would suggest making reservations. The Arroz Caldo (rice soup with chicken) was so delicious! The crispy garlic gave the soup so much more flavor. Enjoyed the Spicy Adobe Fried Chicken Entrée—not really spicy, huge portion, and I wished the chicken was more crispy because the sauce made it soggy quick. Also preferred garlic rice versus the spicy adobe rice. Pork Sinigang and Pancit Canton were good too. For cocktails, was not a fan of the Ube Mojito—tasted bitter and lacked any sweet or carbonated taste. For dessert, the Warm Pandesal & Ube Ice Cream was okay. Service was good and food came out fairly quick. Prices seemed reasonable as well. Parking is difficult to find—all street parking so factor in time to find parking.

Unfortunately, my friend and I came here with high expectations since there were such great reviews. However, our brunch experience at Purple Patch was very disappointing. Firstly, the service was not great as we were rushed by our waitress to place our orders. Secondly, the food itself was shockingly flavorless — the chicken adobo was too salty and didn’t taste like adobo at all. The bread pudding dry, did not taste like ube, and was quite tiny for the price. I would say this is not the place to go for a brunch. I’m not sure if the dinner menu is better, but by these standards, I would not take a chance. I’m sure there are better Filipino restaurants in DC!

We haven't been back in nearly a decade. It doesn't even compare with the last experience. It was definitely more flavorful and authentic this time around. We had the lechon with crab fat, pan de sal sandwich with beef tapa and egg, Bicol express pork, garlic fried rice with egg, and their burger with the pan de sal bun. Adding crab dmfat on anything made a big difference. We enjoyed most of the dishes except the Bicol express. Will definitely return to try other dishes on the next visit.

If you don't know what to get - I recommend asking the waiters. But beforewarned that if they recommend Sizzling Sisig that you may not like it if vinegar-y taste doesn't suit you. I enjoyed it but was it my favorite -nope. I keep forgetting that some Filipino foods have vinegar-y elements to them. If that's not your go to, ask for something that's sweeter (more Thai like) etc. the vibes overall was chill. Music playing and those on the TV if you're sitting at the bar aren't in sync so don't be surprised.

Purple Patch is just as good as my last visit in 2015, and after a decade it’s awesome to see a local Filipino spot be so busy and with a larger menu. I really appreciated the option to select your protein of choice for a few Pinoy classics like the Laing (we got it with mushrooms). The sinigang tasted like home, and the pork Bicol express was perfectly spicy and fatty. Last but not least, the ube banana bread was as delicious as before. We also got the ube tres leches cake topped with pineapple - such a good combo!

I have been hearing good things about this restaurant so I finally decided to try it out, but sadly ended up being a bit disappointed. The dinner started off great with the lumpia as an appetizer, I just wish that would have carried through the main dishes. I tried the pancit with chicken and had high hopes, however, it ended up being quite salty and dry. I think for how much we paid I just expected something a bit better. I would recommend the calamansi juice though!
Emilija F — Google review
I’m always very excited to try Filipino restaurants when I visit different cities. With this being rated so high, my expectations were up there. I thought the lumpia was okay. It was good, but nothing extraordinary. If anything, I’d say it was authentic. The same could be said for the pancit dish we ordered. It tasted exactly how I expected it to be, and I was pleased with it. Up to this point, I was decently pleased with the meal. Next was the ginataan. I was very disappointed in this dish. This is one of my favourite Filipino foods and I thought the squash and beans were way undercooked. The vegetables were still quite hard and tough to eat. I also thought the service when I was there was subpar. Our waitress seemed very all over the place and food was being brought to the wrong table on numerous occasions. I thought the restaurant itself looked nice and it was clean. It was also quiet enough to have conversations which was nice.

Restaurant
Anju is a cozy restaurant with brick walls and outdoor seating, offering contemporary Korean comfort food. It is the latest venture from the Fried Rice Collective, known for CHIKO. Anju emerged from the ashes of Chef Danny Lee's original Mandu restaurant after a fire. The restaurant pays homage to its past while elevating Korean cuisine under the guidance of Chef Angel Barreto.
Be aware, there are a lot of steps/stairs leading up to the table. As for the food, everything here is top-notch quality. We had brunch here for the first time, and it did not disappoint. My dosirak meal was absolutely delicious and satisfying. The pork cutlets (donkatsu) were incredibly tasty, with high-quality meat. The Korean curry was a pleasant surprise—it wasn’t the artificial kind I expected. Instead, they made it from scratch using healthy ingredients, and it was wonderfully flavorful with donkatz. The banchan—cucumber pickle, kimchi, and lotus root—were a refreshing kick Kimchi was way too sour to me but it’s probiotic bomb with the sourness, it’s was ok. Galbi steak and egg Red lettuce is a symbol of the Korean wrap salad, always paired with meats. I loved the attention to detail in the flavor combinations Will come back for dinner sometime soon. Hopefully there will be options for brown rice or mixed grain bop. Side dishes like organic egg jangjorim or danmuji kimchi, anchovy etc could be fun options if added.

My partner and I came here for brunch and absolutely loved it. We ordered the chicken and waffles, steak and eggs, and tater tots, and everything was delicious. The chicken and waffles were our favorite. The portions were generous, the food was perfectly cooked, and the cocktails were just as impressive. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, and the service was excellent. Our waiter gave great recommendations and made us feel right at home. Overall, it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Highly recommend this spot for a relaxed and satisfying brunch.

The interiors of Anju are very warm and inviting. The staff is very friendly and the food came out fairly quickly. The actual dishes were average in terms of flavor. The dumplings were not very flavorful and didn’t taste very Korean. The fried broccolini also felt out of place — it lacked flavor and didn’t really fit the rest of the menu in my opinion. The tofu bibimbap also tasted under seasoned but it was not bad. The kimchi Jiggae was the best dish out of the ones we ordered - it had tender pieces of pork and tofu, but it could have been a little richer and spicier. I would also argue that free kimchi or banchan at a Korean restaurant is a must. I will applaud this place for its large portion sizes. Overall, I think this place gives you a lot of food for its price but I don’t think I would come back here for great Korean food!

I went here for dinner with a few friends after grabbing a very difficult reservation. We are late (8pm) and the place was packed and hopping. We split two appetizers and three mains between the three of us and it was more than enough food. We started out with the Chikin and Mandu. The Chikin consisted of MASSIVE wings that are delicious. Definitely try this starter! For mains , we got Korean “Jambalaya”, Ssam Board, and Yeomso Jjajangyeon (goat). Everything was really good and we were stuffed. If I went back, it would be hard to try new stuff and not just get these again! I love how this spot is nestled right in DuPont circle. Very close and very good. Check it out!

The dak manu was weird to be honest, I understand it’s fusion but personally didn’t think they paired particularly well together. The beef yukhoe was again definitely fusion - no raw egg, no Asian pear, random chia seeds, random lotus root chips, sweeter than traditional yukhoe … but it’s a pretty good starting point for those that have never had it before and it still tasted good, just not traditional Korean food. Which was fine, because that’s not what they’re claiming to be! Cocktails were awesome, bartender was really friendly.

Had a birthday dinner at Anju in DC. We had Panchan (set of three) Soy-brined Chayote, Sweet Lotus Root, Mul kimchi and Palace Ddukbokgi, Korean "Jambalaya", Broccolini Twigim and kids had Chikin. The food was very good but the vegan/vegetarian options are very limited. They had no juice for kids and they did not offer any sweet or a pastry as it was a birthday dinner. In terms of the place itself, they do have rubber grips but I found the stairs going up and a step down to get to the bathroom a bit slippery. A lady fell down in front of the bathroom right next to us. They did have a sign there to be careful but that was not that visible.
Sadichhya D — Google review
Scored a reservation the day of and were very happy we did. What we ordered: Apps: - Chikin was fantastic - Mandu was the star of the show. Absolutely delicious. Main: - Palace Ddukbokgi also amazing. Very traditional and hearty. Highly recommend. dessert: - Banoffee Pie for dessert. You could truly taste the black pepper. Drink: - Pineapple tumeric soda: basic. Could only taste the pineapple and not the tumeric. Wouldn't recommend. All-in-all: fantastic place. Would visit again.

Highly recommend and will be back! No wait to sit at the bar on a Saturday night without a reservation. Great service and delicious drinks and food, including vegetarian options. Had the Mandu, Yache Mandu, Palace Ddukbokgi, Chikin, and the Pat Brownie Sundae. The sundae was my least favorite but still good. I highly recommend the Palace Ddukbokgi! The bartender recommended it and I’m so glad I went with his suggestion. When I saw rice cake on the menu I immediately thought of hard rice cakes but this is not that. They’re soft and chewy (like a thick noodle log) with veggies (I added tofu) in a sweet sauce that is to die for!

New American restaurant
Café Riggs is a sophisticated restaurant located in the charming Riggs Hotel, offering New American cuisine in an elegant setting. The café is known for its gorgeous ambiance, locally sourced food, and unique space. It has received high praise for its brunch and sophisticated decor, making it an ideal spot for an intimate dinner. The menu features French, American, and European cuisine with standout dishes like perfectly executed halibut and a caviar and potato chips appetizer.
We take a breakfast in this Michelin-starred café Riggs in Washington for breakfast, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and very professional. From the moment we walked in, we felt well taken care of. The atmosphere is elegant yet cozy, making it a great spot to start the day. While the prices are definitely on the higher end, the presentation and ambiance help justify the cost to some extent. As for the food, it was good—nothing groundbreaking, but solid and well-prepared. The pastries were fresh, the coffee was excellent, and the eggs were cooked to perfection. If you’re looking for a refined breakfast experience in D.C. with top-tier service, this café is definitely worth considering.

Café Riggs – Beautiful Place, But a Bit of a Hiccup Café Riggs is easily one of the most beautiful spots in D.C.—full of history, charm, and style. From the moment you walk in, you feel it. The building is stunning, the layout unique, the ceilings high, and the atmosphere warm and classy. It truly feels like you’re stepping into something special. I went with a few friends for brunch, and most of the experience was top notch. The staff was great, especially our server—super accommodating. We asked for a caviar service, even though it wasn’t on the menu, and to our surprise, the manager made it happen. He was kind and professional throughout. The food was excellent—seafood, caviar, champagne—all fresh and delicious. It really felt like a five-star experience… almost. The only real letdown was how the food came out. We ordered a seafood tower, caviar, a few breakfast items, croissants, sausages (both pork and chicken), and a strip steak. But after nearly two hours at the table, the croissants, sausages, and steak still hadn’t arrived. No updates, no check-ins—just silence. When we finally said we had to go, they rushed to the kitchen, made everything quickly, and packed it to-go. They explained they were waiting for us to finish eating before bringing the rest out, but honestly, that felt like an excuse. Especially when you look at the receipt—it’s clear those items (like the croissant and sausages) were part of our main order, not something we added later. Croissants and sausage are basic brunch starters—they should’ve come out early, especially with the caviar. And if there was going to be a delay, they could’ve at least checked in or offered to remove them from the bill. We spent over $1,000 on brunch (with tax and tip), so we expected a bit more care in the details. So yes—the place is beautiful, the food is great, and the service is friendly. But a mistake like that—especially at this level—left a bit of disappointment at the end. That’s why, instead of five stars, I’m giving three.

Everything about this place is amazing. The high ceilings, the architecture, the lighting, the comfy lounge seating area, the sound and the service and oh my goodness the dessert. This tart was spectacular it is the only thing we ordered because we had already had dinner elsewhere but we plan to come back as the menu looks fantastic.

Had an absolutely wonderful time at Cafe Riggs today. When you walk in, the atmosphere is the first thing you recognize, as it’s stunning. When you sit down, the service is phenomenal. I saw 4 servers, with my main server as Jasmine, and they were all knowledgeable, delightful, and warm. I got the bottomless mimosa cart, avocado toast, and lobster mac. The portions reflected the price, and all tasted great! I now have lunch tomorrow, and am very happy with what I ordered. Cannot wait to bring friends here, and I’m so glad I stopped by!

Beautiful decor with historical charm-Café Riggs has to be the best hotel bar in downtown DC. If you want delicious cocktails crafted for a sophisticated palate, this the place to go to. The servers and bartenders are always friendly and attentive. For brunch, I recommend their champagne cart or bottomless martinis and crème brûlée for dessert.

If you’re in D.C., this café is a must. The interior is dreamy — golden tones, velvet seating, vintage mirrors, and natural light pouring in. I had brunch here and the vibe was effortlessly chic. The coffee was top-notch, and the menu felt elevated without being overwhelming. Try their pastries — they’re flaky perfection. Service was warm and attentive, and I truly appreciated the peaceful energy. 📍The kind of place you want to linger a little longer — whether you’re meeting a friend or just treating yourself.

As a guest staying at The Riggs Hotel, Café Riggs was an absolute lifesaver and a highlight of my stay. If you're looking for a convenient, delicious, and genuinely friendly spot for both breakfast and dinner without ever having to leave the building, look no further. Unbeatable Convenience & Healthy Start: Mornings can be hectic, but the breakfast here made everything easy. I was able to grab a truly healthy and flavorful option—like their fantastic avocado toast or a hearty yogurt parfait with fresh fruit and granola—and get on with my day. It was the perfect alternative to a rushed, sugary pastry and felt like a proper, nourishing start. The coffee was excellent and kept me going for hours. Unexpectedly Great Dinners: I ended up having dinner here on a night I was just too tired to venture out, and I'm so glad I did. The dinner menu is surprisingly robust! The dishes we tried were flavorful and felt thoughtfully prepared, far beyond standard "hotel food." It was clear that care goes into the ingredients and presentation. The Best Part: The Staff: The team at Café Riggs is wonderful. Everyone, from the morning baristas to the evening servers, was incredibly friendly and attentive. They remembered my name after the first visit and always had a genuine smile. It made the experience feel personal and warm, like a neighborhood spot you’ve been going to for years. Incredible Value: For the quality of the food and the level of service, the prices are honestly unbeatable, especially for a hotel restaurant. You get fantastic value for your money. Final Verdict: Café Riggs isn't just a hotel café; it's a real asset to The Riggs Hotel experience. It delivers on all fronts: delicious food, a healthy and convenient menu, kind service, and great prices. I highly recommend it to any guest and will definitely be enjoying meals here on my next stay.

What a beautiful building that is home to Riggs Cafe & Hotel! Has been a favorite for many years, but recent visit (July 2025) left me a bit at a 3 star. It took a very very very long time to get food for 4 people on a Tuesday afternoon! And it wasn’t busy at all! The service was polite, but extremely slow - we had to ask for water 3 times… and when we did get the food, nobody checked on us and it was overcooked (oily); Brussels weren’t crispy and some hot items were room temperature. I was used to excellent level of good and services here, but may not consider going back as the 1st on my mind when visiting DC again.

Malaysian restaurant
Restaurant
Makan is a Malaysian restaurant in Columbia Heights that offers a unique dining experience. The chef, James Wozniuk, draws inspiration from his travels to Malaysia and presents dishes like nasi lemak and pineapple curry. The menu reflects the fusion of Indian and Chinese flavors with options such as curry noodle soup and fried chicken with a Malaysian twist. Guests can also enjoy outdoor seating while savoring dishes like chicken satay with peanut sauce and pickled sides.
Wow...what a gem?! I love this tucked away quaint location. I almost walked right past it, but so glad I did not. The food and drinks were delicious (including dessert). Also very fresh. The service was impeccable. Felt like family. I enjoyed the music and lighting, great set up for a good meal and a great conversation. Can't wait to visit again.

We came here for the first time last night and were very impressed. Our server Peter was very attentive and helpful with making recommendations and explaining the dishes. He definitely took good care of us. Besides the outstanding service, the food was delicious. The roti are a must try as well as the mango salad and chicken skewers with peanut sauce. We had a lovely dinner and will definitely be back.

The food was delicious. We had a number of things - mango salad, the potatoes, the dry beef curry, the pickled pineapple and roti and the Penang street noodles. Overall, everything we had was delicious and tasty. The highlight for me however was the service. Our waiter was Peter. He is hands down one of the best waiters I’ve ever had in my life. He was so attentive and considerate. He always seemed to anticipate our needs and took care of them expeditiously. Then we found out it was only his second day working- wow! So incredible for only being his second day. So overall, atmosphere was good, food was good and service by Peter was FANTASTIC!

I truly wanted to like this place. I went in with fairly high expectations and ended leaving disappointed. I ordered the chicken satay, which was decent. My main entree was the nasi ganja and it was quite unpleasant. Let me preface this by saying that I grew up eating various Southeast Asian cuisines, so this flavor combination and ingredients aren’t exactly a huge leap outside my comfort zone. The salted duck egg was extremely overpowering and had a soapy aftertaste. I couldn’t take another bite of it and had to wash it down with water to avoid spitting it out. The coconut chutney was so bitter and the slimy okra didn’t add anything to the dish. This dish was a giant train wreck of flavors and not worth $25.00. Maybe it was my fault for ordering the nasi ganja and perhaps I would’ve fared better with their other entrees. Lesson learned. The service was borderline neglectful. The table next to me was charged the wrong bill which belonged to a different table entirely, so make sure you check your final tab. They also include a note on the menu saying they automatically tack on 10% service charge and that it’s not considered the final tip.

What's good? The Penang Street Noodles (Char Kway Teow) were amazing. We wish we had ordered more to go. It's rare to find a dish in DC with Chinese sausage. The fried potatoes were delicious! Highly recommend those two. The Spicy Hakka Noodles were very good after I mixed all ingredients together, very filling too. The Chicken Skewers were nothing special. I also wish the service was more attentive. They brought the entree before bringing the appetizers/small plates and brought my drink long after we got all of our food.

We were thrilled to discover this award-winning Malaysian restaurant in DC and will definitely return to try more of their dishes. We loved the authentic flavors of Malaysia in every dish we tried, especially their Char Kway Teow, which had that authentic charcoal smoke flavor. The atmosphere of the place was great. The service was also good. After a delicious meal, their sago with coconut cream and gula melaka was perfect.

Came here for Friday dinner—made reservations at a high top, and were seated right away. The place was fairly packed and had an energetic vibe. Food was good—although we did enjoy the food, I didn’t find anything particularly special. My top favorites were the Ayam Goreng (Fried chicken with salted duck yolk), Char Kway Teow (Penang Street Noodle—but overloaded with Chinese sausage vs. shrimp) and the Baby Bok Choy (the gravy is really good). For appetizer, the Chicken Sate was only decent if you ate it with the peanut sauce otherwise it’s bland—the Kerabu Mangga (Mango Salad) was okay, spicy kick, but an unnecessary big portion for an appetizer, that ended up going to waste. Cocktails were okay—I liked the Halia & Serai (Malaysian gimlet). Service was amazing—our server Caitlin was great—friendly and attentive. Note, this place does add an automatic 22% service fee that goes to all the staff.

I am thrilled to share my experience at Makan, a Malaysian restaurant that had been on my list for quite some time. After following them on social media for a while, I finally decided to take the plunge and fly to DC to check out their brunch menu. Although the dinner menu also looked enticing, I was particularly interested in seeing how Asian restaurants approached brunch. Malaysian food is difficult to define, as it combines the culinary traditions of Malay, Chinese, and Indian cultures. At Makan, they strike the perfect balance by representing Malaysian cuisine as it should be - a blend of flavors from each major group. The result is a menu that is a true representation of what Malaysian food should be. You will find a mix of dishes from each ethnic group, including the nationally acclaimed dish nasi lemak. I ordered a variety of dishes and enjoyed them all. The kerabu mangga, a green mango and calamansi salad tossed with fermented shrimp paste sambal, was a perfect balance of sweet, sour, tangy, and refreshing. The cucur udang, fluffy shrimp fritters fried to perfection, were delightful with the tamarind chili sauce on the side. The peanut sauce served with the sate ayam was a standout, made with roasted peanuts, palm sugar, tamarind, lemongrass, galangal, chili peppers, and shallot - a classic accompaniment to this traditional chicken skewer. The roti banjir, a roti topped with coconut curry, dhal, sambal, and a soft egg, won me over with the first bite. The sambal, which generally refers to chili paste in Malay, is used in many dishes at Makan and enhances the flavors. Mixing it with the runny egg yolk, then taking a bite of the roti with curry, creates a creamy sensation followed by a sweet and spicy kick from the sambal. The sambal also worked its magic in the nasi lemak, the national dish of Malaysia, which consists of fragrant steamed rice cooked with coconut milk and pandan. Makan's version features generous amounts of sambal over the rice, along with chicken confit, fried anchovies, boiled egg, and cucumber on the side. The rice is cooked to perfection, fragrant, and the sambal ties all the flavors together beautifully. I also ordered the ayam goreng perempah, fried chicken with chili crumbles and tomato sambal, and the char kway teow, a street food noodle known from Penang, which was stir-fried to perfection. The dish's success relies on the "wok Hei," the flavors and tastes imparted from a hot wok during stir-frying. The dish is simple and requires skillful technique, which Makan executes flawlessly. The special of the day was a pan-seared daikon turnip cake with bean sprouts in soy and chili oil, which had a dense, glutinous texture and a contrastingly crispy seared side with a perfect savory flavor from the sauce. Makan also offers several acar, a staple vegetable pickle in Peranakan cuisine, and the kitchen kindly sent a sampler to try. The pickles were delicious on their own, but I loved adding them to my dishes to create more flavors. For dessert, I enjoyed the sago, a tapioca pearl dessert with coconut pandan cream and palm sugar. Overall, Makan is the best Malaysian restaurant I have been to in the USA. The menu sets a definitive tone for what Malaysian food should be, and the true Malaysian food culture is successfully conveyed with a modern twist and traditional flavors combined. I can't wait to go back!

Cafe Unido, originally from Panama, has expanded to the US with a location at La Cosecha in DC. They are known for their responsible sourcing of high-quality Panamanian beans, including the prestigious Panama Geisha variety. The company is committed to corporate responsibility and allocates a portion of its sales to social and environmental projects in Panama's coffee-growing regions. Visitors praise the charming ambiance of the cafe and recommend trying the Geisha coffee.
I love the atmosphere of this place. When you enter La Cosecha, you’re welcomed by a variety of restaurants and small local businesses — it feels vibrant and creative. But I’m focusing on Café Unido, because this coffee comes from my home country, Panama. So every time I’m in Washington, I have to stop by. The space is filled with beautiful natural light coming through the large windows facing the street — perfect for enjoying a slow moment with a cup of coffee. The aroma and flavor are exactly what I expect from good Panamanian coffee: rich, smooth, and full of character. I believe they could take even more advantage of how special it is to have a Panamanian coffee franchise in Washington — it deserves to be highlighted and promoted more. I truly hope they open more locations around the city so more people can experience it. I tried the Caramel Latte, and it was delicious. Drink quality is never consistent. When I decide to risk it here, it might be really good, or something that's 1/3 foam and tastes like steamed milk. Not sure how long I'll keep trying. They offer interesting flavors and the atmosphere is nice, but none of that matters when the coffee is that off. If it's 8+ dollars for a drink it better be damn good. My advice is taste first, tip after with cash

I visited this cafe specifically for their Ninety Plus Geisha coffee, which I had previously and found to be exceptional, it was truly a memorable experience. As a DC local who’s willing to travel for a worthwhile cup, I made the trip again with high expectations. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. When I arrived, there was only one staff member on duty, unlike my last visit when two baristas were present. She appeared to be engaged in a personal conversation, and I had to interrupt to ask if I could place an order, which made me feel like an inconvenience rather than a welcomed guest. I ordered the Ninety Plus Geisha again and was told it would take 10 to 15 minutes to prepare, which I was happy to wait for. I used the time to step out and pick up a pastry from a nearby bakery. When I returned, the cafe had become quite busy, so I waited patiently for my drink. After a few other guests were served, I was called over only to be informed that the coffee I ordered was not available. I explained that I had made a special trip just for this coffee, but the response I received was indifferent at best. I was simply told I'd receive a refund and could order something else. Frustrated and short on time, I opted for a cortado instead, which unfortunately was overly bitter and not enjoyable. Before leaving, I was told the issue stemmed from the previous team failing to restock the coffee or notify the morning shift of its unavailability. While I understand that mistakes happen, the lack of accountability and customer care was disappointing. In short, the pour over I had on my previous visit was excellent, but the espresso drinks leave much to be desired. It’s also concerning that there’s no way to call ahead to confirm product availability at the Union Market location. I hope this feedback is helpful and encourages more consistent service and communication moving forward.

Really good coffee. The space is really cute and sort of sets it apart from the rest of La Cosecha. Love the neutral tones with old rustic tiling. They have this Geisha coffee which is 11/12 for a super floral coffee that is a Panama specialty according to the barista. I'd definitely come with others to order that. I got an Americano, that was small for the price imo. It's just one shot of espresso, but really good.

During my visit to Cafe Unido at Union Market, I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional quality of their coffee. Their Spiced Manzana Latte, in particular, was a standout for me. The balance of flavors was perfect, I appreciated the unique blend of apple and spices. The coffee as a whole was rich, smooth, and full of flavor, indicative of the care and high-quality beans that went into every cup. I also found the atmosphere of the cafe to be warm and inviting, and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly, offering great suggestions for other drinks to try. Overall, I highly recommend Cafe Unido to anyone looking for an excellent cup of coffee. The Spiced Manzana Latte was certainly a highlight for me, and I look forward to visiting again and exploring more of their menu.

Ted's Bulletin is a fun and classic American restaurant in the heart of D.C.'s vibrant nightlife scene. The atmosphere is bright and airy, with vintage film posters on the walls and delicious food served up all day long. The menu features classic American dishes like chicken breasts coated in breadcrumbs and then fried, hamburgers topped with bacon, cheese, and mushrooms, and red velvet cake for dessert.
A very nice vintage glam restaurant with a home style feel. A skylit ceiling and old movies playing on the wall as an added touch. The food is flavorful, The portions are satisfying and the prices are affordable. They accommodate substitutions and personalized request as an added plus. So, be specific to your needs. if you don't want spongy pancakes or your bacon mildly fried it's your fault if you don't request it. There is limited outdoor seating. There is street parking (free for 2 hours on the street on Sunday).

We had breakfast twice during our visit to DC, and we absolutely loved it! We tried the Mixed Berry Ricotta Pancakes, Chicken + Waffles, Big Mark Breakfast, and Thick-Cut French Toast. The hash-browns were crispy to perfection, and the Brown Sugar Cinnamon Ted’s Tart was an incredible homemade treat. Everything we ordered was delicious, with great flavors and generous portions. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality of food. We also had a cappuccino, which was amazing! I love the vintage decor in the front and back of the restaurant. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and all the staff were welcoming, helpful, and friendly. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in DC.

The best coffee in DC! The “Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte” is a must-have if you visit Ted’s Bulletin. For breakfast, this place absolutely crushes it with those Crab Benedict eggs, super tasty! They could improve the sourdough bread, it’s a bit too dense and not as flavorful as expected. IG: @framinizingdiary

Tifanni doubled as bartender and server and while the food was very good, Tifanni was amazing...and she made me the most amazing drink that i tried to have bartenders replicate for the next 3 days in DC to no avail. She would be why i would come back! Her service was on point...

The Diner, located in the heart of Adams Morgan, is a versatile 24-hour eatery that caters to a diverse range of clientele throughout the day. From families and office workers to students and late-night revelers, this retro-style establishment transforms its ambiance to suit different crowds. The menu features creative comfort food, including breakfast favorites like buttermilk pancakes and southwest frittata, as well as entrees such as jambalaya and fish tacos.
A no frills 24 hour diner, just like the name suggests. Tables move quick and service was fast and friendly. Outside seating or bar seating too. A collection of cocktails and beer if you desire. Food was above average with all the classics and portions that will fill you up. Family friendly with milkshakes and a kids menu. Prices were fair. Just a simple diner that you can't go wrong with. Parking will be difficult.

The DINER is in proximity to the zoo and open 24/7. I was here on a Monday morning and the diner was almost empty. The food is typical for a diner, with sandwiches, waffles, eggs, pancakes, and hash browns. I had a premium breakfast, including hash browns, a pancake, sausages, and scrambled eggs, and an orange juice (approximately 23 Dollars). The service was friendly. The food was fast prepared, a huge portion and the taste was good. I can recommend the DINER.

We came in for sunday brunch and the food was delicious and worth the trip! The bartender made fabulous drinks for the table! Our server Ary went above and beyond with the service, being attentive and making us feel like valued guests. We are already planning our next visit

I had a very average huevos rancheros with chorizo and pickled jalapeños on top, served with a side of cheese grits. I tasted my partner’s chicken wrap sandwich and didn’t like it at all. Our hotel desk recommended this place, but I don’t see the point.

Horrible early am service (4am) with the same servers each time I come. They cannot handle an influx of customers and will choose not to seat you or serve you (we had to go to the bar to get service after waiting 30 minutes for a menu). When bringing this to the attention of the server, he was rude, argued, got nasty, and blamed everything except himself. This place has decent food, but the headache and experience were just not worth it. Shameful for a diner. Do better.

Nothing beats a 24hr diner. The Diner has great food and an awesome ambiance. Staff is always friendly and food is well priced.

Reprint new menues instead of being shady about paying your servers an acceptable wage.... How shady to have the only sign posted between the bathroom and employee door. I'm half tempted to contact and attorney and see if this is legal Update: I went back by the business today and still see no signs other than the one in the back. Also, please explain where on your website and menu this is stated. Still can't find it. DC isn't the only place to pay an acceptable wage. The rest of us reprint new menus so as not too upset customers

This place is pretty much as advertised. A diner they have breakfast and lunch menu. You can even get a breakfast cocktail. The fried chicken is amazing. I had the 18th St. chicken sandwich which was delicious. The servers are friendly and helpful.

Johnny Rockets is an international chain known for its retro setting and classic American fare. With various locations in DC, Maryland, and Virginia, this 1950s-inspired diner offers a nostalgic experience with burgers, shakes, fries, and kid-friendly options like mini hot dogs and PB&J. The staff is praised for their friendliness and accommodating nature towards special dietary needs such as seafood allergies. Customers have also commended the exceptional service provided by the staff despite busy periods.
Orlando has been very friendly and we've enjoyed a tasty lunch during our visit to the outlet. The food was very good, the portions were pretty big, and great service, we definitely recommend it.
Andreea O — Google review
The restaurant was empty, but it still took 10 minutes for the server to come get our drink order. I hope it was just a miscommunication. Once she came, she didn't introduce herself. If she did, I didn't hear it. We ordered food and it did come pretty quickly. Onion rings and tots were good, but the burgers were served on stale bread. My dining partner had a dipping sauce on the table. I asked for an additional sauce for myself and the server kept glancing at the sauce on the table as though she was suggesting I share the sauce. This wasn't a terrible experience, but its probably enough to keep me from coming back to this location. I reluctantly left 18% for the server. Side note: A tip is to reward service, not a supplement for low hourly wage. A tip is earned, not required. The server was cool but the overall experience wasn't great

Had a great experience here. The food is very affordable and good. The milkshakes are great thick and hard to drink through a straw (so definitely great). The atmosphere is a very cute aesthetic of vintage.

Happened upon this location, our local Johnny Rockets closed years ago. We absolutely enjoyed the entire experience. Great burgers, smooth shakes, and a classic atmosphere. It still has the charm and grear flavors I remember from my younger years. Next time we are near Tanger outlet we will be sure to drop in!

Nestled in the heart of Washington, D.C., Pete's Diner is a quintessential spot for anyone craving classic American fare. This charming eatery serves up everything from hearty burgers to breakfast favorites, all in a relaxed atmosphere that welcomes everyone—whether you're a local or just passing through. It's not uncommon to see notable figures like former Speaker of the House John Boehner enjoying their morning meal here, making it a popular haunt for Hill staffers and politicians alike.
I went to D.C. for my graduation and My husband and I decided to stop at a diner for Mother's Day. As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted. The service was just amazing from the second we walked in to the second we walked out the door. The food was amazing. If you are ever in the area, I would make this a stop. Exceptional job!!
Stephanie S — Google review
We recently visited Pete's Diner in Washington, DC, and unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. Despite its prime location near the Capitol Building and the charm of being a quaint little diner, the food and service fell well below expectations. To start, the food was disappointing. The eggs were served cold, which is never acceptable, and the rest of the meal lacked flavor and freshness. Adding to the frustration, the service was incredibly slow and incomplete. We had to repeatedly ask for parts of our order that were forgotten, which made the meal feel more like a hassle than a pleasant dining experience. On a positive note, the diner's location is excellent for tourists and visitors to DC. It’s conveniently close to the Capitol, and its cozy atmosphere has a certain appeal. However, the quality of the food and service overshadowed any charm the diner had to offer. Overall, we won’t be returning to Pete’s Diner, and that decision isn’t just because we’re from out of town. Consistency and attention to detail are key in the food industry, and sadly, Pete’s Diner missed the mark in both areas. If you’re considering a visit, the location might be a draw, but don’t expect much else.
Tim C — Google review
We stopped by Pete’s for a late breakfast before heading to the Library of Congress, and overall, it was a solid choice, though not without its quirks. The eggs, pancakes, and sausage hit the spot, but the waffle had a little too much time to contemplate its existence on the griddle. The decor is intriguing (?)…There are plants, both real and fake, and an assortment of sticks hanging from the ceiling. Is it art? A tribute to the great forests of yore. No clue. Perhaps the most unexpected part of our visit was the neighborhood cat, who was first spotted outside before being welcomed inside by the staff. It then proceeded to patrol the diner, checking in on customers like an unimpressed health inspector. Personally, I love cats, so I didn’t mind, but if you’re allergic to or just not a fan of feline supervisors during your meal, you might feel differently. Overall Pete’s serves up a good, hearty breakfast with a side of local (cat) charm. Would I come back? Yes. Just skip the waffle and bring some cat treats.

This is an old school diner. Inside a bit cramped but not complaining and they have outside seating. Service is very quick, they bring entire order at once. We had grilled cheese, fries, and cheeseburger. First was fries, then, GC, and then burger. All were good but burger could have used a bit of seasoning. And they are quick so you don't wait much time at all for your food. Recommend give a try. Quick update, there is no sign.. but you seat yourself
Michael H — Google review
A mom and pop locally owned restaurant. Excellent location at the eastern end of the National Mall, near the Library of Congress. Food portions very good. Speed of service excellent. Hospitality not their strong suit... maybe a cultural difference compared to traditional American custom. Atmosphere -- typical diner feel. Bar service by the kitchen area, benches along the wall, and tables in the middle. Very tight quarters -- I'm sure rent is brutal in this area -- so it can be quite noisy due to everyone in close proximity to one another. If you are a tourist (like me) in a hurry to catch your timed entry to exhibits nearby, have an appetite and on a fairly strict budget, it's hard to beat Pete's Diner.

Great, non-fancy diner, and lovely cat. In the midst of lots of more swanky places in the heart of the political centre of DC, this diner is a breath of fresh air. Oh, and they have a lovely cat too! Reminds me of home a bit too ☺️
Kit — Google review
It's an American-style diner, run by Asians, with a Greek-style font on their menus, so you just gotta respect it. Oh, and they have a CAT, so be sure to ask about him if you don't see him. We asked and were told he was out enjoying the sunshine, which he was. Unfortunately, he wasn't too concerned with being photogenic so the attached pic is the best I can do. Food was solid, but nothing mind-blowing. However, it doesn't claim to be so you can't really take points off. That said, the bacon was perfectly cooked for my tastes with it being crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. What I also liked is that they have lots of condiments available at the table, ranging from ketchup, mustard and hot sauce all the way to Old Bay. Service was welcoming and friendly, and some of the regulars even got addressed by name and addressed the employees by name, so you can tell they care about their customers. You get water without even asking for it, but you can order whatever other drink you want too. Overall quite a charming little place.

We’ve been coming here for years, and it is a solid classic diner. Tasty breakfast and lunch options, generally effective service, nice outdoor seating, and friendly well-fed resident black cat ShiShi (sp?) who is the beloved local celebrity. The interior is a wacky mix of fake bamboo on the ceiling, law enforcement badges on the wall, and Chinese art. Prices are decent considering you’re practically kitty-corner from the Library of Congress and just a block from the Capitol. The fruit plate provides an impressively quality selection of fresh hand-cut fruit for a reasonable $4. Filling food to power your day.

Sticky Fingers Diner is a retro-chic, veggie-forward restaurant and bakery located on 4th and H Street NE. The woman-owned establishment is famous for its custom-made cakes and has been a beloved spot in Washington, DC for over 20 years. The menu is entirely vegan, offering a diverse selection of brunch items from classic blueberry pancakes to unique dishes like Chilaquiles.
Delicious. Visited last August, and I remember how welcoming the staff was (even though I arrived shortly before closing hour). The soup was so good, the burger was out of this world, and the carrot cake was better than expected. Highly recommend!! it was a little expensive, but probably because I had eyes bigger than my stomach.

What an amazing 100% Vegan restaurant this is. The customer service was great. The lady who helped us (who I think is the owner or manager)was so nice and helpful, especially since I had so many questions. The food was great. Very flavorful. Besides 1 meal coming out cold, everything was great. Their cookies were great too. The music was on point and they even had a kids movie playing which was great for my child to watch while eating. I will definitely be back . I enjoyed my experience.

Amazing spot to indulge in delicious, plant-based diner fare! I've come here for the weekend brunch a few times, and they truly never miss -- whether you're hankering for a seasonal fruit pancake, a vegan croissant (which is still wild to say), a fully plant-based meatball sub, or a vegan mac & cheese that isn't powdery or overly watery, then Sticky Fingers Diner has you covered! They have all of your favorite American comfort classics (and more!), plus a full-blown bakery with all types of vegan cookies, cakes, etc. Their cheesy mac is one of my favorite vegan / wheat-free takes on mac & cheese in the city, but their polenta fries and buffalo cauliflower dip are both amazing ways to kick off your meal. I was also thoroughly impressed by their vegan cheese platter -- they had a great variety of plant-based cheeses, and they all had the perfect texture and savoriness / smokiness / slightly pungent undertones a cheese connaisseur might look for in a real dairy-based charcuterie board. When it comes to their breakfast selection, I love a good matcha latte any day! Their latte was a bit too sweet, especially when paired with other sweet breakfast / brunch items, but it was super thick and creamy, with a great amount of foam. Their pancakes are solid, but nothing particularly fancy; I was, however, super impressed by their arugula shroom croissant -- the sauteed cremini mushrooms packed a great umami punch, and the tofu-egg patty was shockingly egg-like. The croissant did not quite look like a real croissant, but it was shockingly flaky. There's generally not a wide selection of gluten-free items on their breakfast menu, but you can never go wrong with a smoothie bowl, and their chilaquiles are solid -- the scrambled tofu is a touch bland, but that makes it a great canvas for their flavor-[acked black beans, roasted poblanos, and roasted tomato roja. Beyond the food -- I LOVED the vibes! It has a classic diner feel with tiny booths, a line of barstools overlooking the cooktops, and a giant display case of all their baked goodies. There's a ton of natural light streaming into the restaurant, and I love the outdoor seating area as well. The first time I visited, my friend and I ended up sitting at a table in the back hallway to the patio; it's the only table in the hallway, so aside from the occasional server passing through to bring food outside, it almost felt like we had a private room. The service is also super quick and friendly -- you do need to go up to the front counter to order (which isn't always explained when you first arrive), but they'll take your food out to you so you can go back to your table after that.

Vegan restaurant and bakery with a great menu and an even better dessert menu. I had a daily special pasta filled with butternut squash and pesto sauce. It was delicious, soft, well seasoned and creamy. My husband had the Chickpeas Steak Platter. It was good, but It could use more seasoning. We also ordered a milkshake and a fritter as dessert. Both were amazing. Upsides: dogs allowed in the patio. Staff was amazing. Downside: it's not in my city. 😞 I'll need to visit DC again.

Really tasty vegan food! And I was pleasantly surprised to find it’s not just diner/bar food. They have pasta, salads, tacos, soup… basically a good variety of different foods, plus really good looking pastries. The employees were friendly as well. Beware: the wine is from a tap! Best to stick with beer or cocktails.
Kathryn K — Google review
5 stars for the chickpea tenders alone. 4 stars overall. I have never seen chickpea steak or tenders on a menu before, so I had to order it, and the texture was great. I will say there weren’t many options on the menu that interested me, the curry was my second choice. The brownie that I got was just OK as well. The interior is cute, the music on point, and the service very friendly.

My first impression of this place is "I am in love!" As I walked into this cozy diner I noticed the beautiful spinning cake display in the front. Every cake looked so delicious. I asked if they have anything vegan and she proceeded with “everything is vegan”! Gasp, I was so happy because when I saw the rotational cake display, I wished it was vegan so bad and the vegan Gods granted my wish! This place is cute and the owner was very nice as well as my server, roger. I was going to go to another place but when I stumbled upon this place it was a must! It is very welcoming and they also serve alcohol. I ordered the romaine Cesar, the vegan Mac and the avocado tacos. Ya I went all out but it was so worth it. I was traveling for business and everything was pretty reasonably priced. I also got the pecan cookie, it was amazing. This place was delicious and had so many options for anyone. I want to go back and try the cheeseball on the menu! This place is in a very cute neighborhood, I will be back the next time I am in DC. :)

I've been here 3 times - always to take someone new to this place, because it's so simply delicious. I'm so glad that I now live so close by and can hopefully come by more. At this point, I always recommend the chickpea steak platter - it's indulgent, well seasoned, and should definitely be shared between 2 people, unless you're a voracious eater. The Reuben was super good, though I wish the mushrooms in it were a little more caramelized. Per my fiance, the fries were absurdly good - thin, crispy and perfectly salted. In previous trips, I've gotten cocktails here - can't go wrong with the espresso martini, Pimms Punch or tickled pink! Food I've tried on other trips that I recommend trying again: pierogi (delicious, savory pillows with really beautiful contrast with the sauerkraut), seitan and waffles, and the burrata. Food I've tried in other trips that were just ok, not my highest priority to have again: spicy seasonal coconut curry (could be more flavorful), smoothie bowl (it was good! My fiance got this. But if I'm eating at a rare find like an all vegan restaurant, I'm going big or going home, and I don't think this smoothie bowl speaks to the culinary expertise this restaurant has in vegan cooking) and this barbeque platter with corn that I don't think is on the menu anymore. This most recent trip I took, they've changed their practices so that after you get an assigned table, you have to go back up to the kiosk and order your menu items, so it's a bit more streamlined. Previously, service was a little slow because of crazy packed they are all the time - it meets the crowd hype. I love the atmosphere in the diner, it's yellow and pink, giving Sailor Moon vibes. There's a cute rotating display of cakes. Highly recommend this place! I need to come back and try their sweets!
