Brunch restaurant
Le Diplomate is a classic French restaurant that offers outdoor seating and a cozy atmosphere. It pays tribute to the iconic French cafe culture, providing a comfortable setting for enjoying familiar French dishes, brunch favorites, and drinks. The restaurant's warm and inviting ambiance features comfy booths, extended windows, and a tiled floor that gives it a casual patio-like feel. The menu boasts an array of French classics like bouillabaisse and onion soup alongside international favorites such as burgers and half roast chickens.
My lunch at Le Diplomate in D.C. was truly exquisite. The atmosphere is authentically French and wonderfully charming. It is full of energy, conversation, and a fun vibe. Since it was a gorgeous day in the 70s, I was especially grateful to sit outside on the covered patio and enjoy the afternoon. The French onion soup was a highlight — one of the best I’ve had, it rivals Balthazar in New York City. The champagne was excellent, and the crème brûlée was the perfect finish to the meal. The service was also very good. I highly recommend this wonderful and vibrant French restaurant in the heart of D.C.

First, it should be noted the atmosphere of the restaurant is beautiful and would be the perfect setting for an evening outing. The service was great, and our server was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. But as far as food goes, it was underwhelming. Beautifully presented but in taste and flavor it severely lacked and for the price point of each dish, was disappointing. I would recommend coming here perhaps for drinks and atmosphere, less so for the food.

Le Diplomate is an incredible spot for date night. It’s right on 14th Street and perfectly captures that classic European brasserie atmosphere. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it for a special evening. I highly recommend the steak frites, escargot, and duck. The duck, in particular, has a subtle orangey note that’s unlike anything I’ve ever tasted — rich, balanced, and memorable. We’ve also tried the artichokes before, which weren’t really my favorite, but everything else has been consistently excellent. The indoor dining room is elegant, but we’ve only ever sat outdoors, where the ambiance is just as lovely. We love this place and will definitely be back!

They nailed the French bistro/cafe vibe!! It is so cool to sit inside or on the patio and enjoy their food. One of the best burgers in the city! And the mushroom tart was flaky and rich and flavor packed!! Highly recommend!
Daniel L — Google review
My experience at this restaurant was excellent with the food and the service. The decor of the place was very pretty. The food was delicious. The coffee was super delicious, with an intense and tasty flavor. I loved it. The waiter who served us, I have to say this. We had a small incident with the coffee, but he resolved it super quickly. He was very attentive from the beginning, very kind and respectful. We were super happy with the attention from Mr. Amaya. I have to mention him because he gave us excellent service. I highly recommend this restaurant. Everything was excellent: the food, the service, the atmosphere, everything was a very nice experience! Highly recommended!!

Love the aesthetic and vibe of this place moreso than the food or drinks. The burger was good (not cooked as ordered = medium) and the scallops were good. Nothing phenomenal. Old fashioned was good. Just all around a very ok/good experience.
Colton S — Google review
We came on a day that there were protestors outside. You're charging $16 for two eggs over easy and you're trying to convince us you can't afford unioned workers? Yikes. As for the food, I had the Country Dry Chicken Club. The price felt audacious for its quality. The eggs benedict were fine since that's a tough dish to mess up, though through hard work and determination, they managed to do so as one of the eggs was medium boiled (at best). The highlight of the meal was the onion soup, which was perfect in every way. We went to a lot of great eateries while visiting DC, but this wasn't one of them. To be clear, the food isn't terrible, and what a business owner does re: unions isn't my business in the end; that said, this place feels like they are coasting on their reputation, charging higher prices for the prestige while failing to deliver on the quality that these prices should offer.

Midnight in Paris, but Make It D.C. There’s something about Le Diplomate that makes you believe in romance again — even if it’s just between you and your glass of Bordeaux. The lights shimmer like a Parisian dream, the chatter hums like a love song, and every bite feels like it’s flirting with you. The duck ragu? Intoxicating. The steak frites? A perfect affair of flavor and nostalgia. And the chocolate torte? Dangerous — the kind of sweet you shouldn’t trust but can’t resist anyway. Come here on a Friday night when the city feels alive. Order the wine, toss your hair, and let the night do what it does best — remind you that love isn’t gone, it’s just evolving. 💋 Pro tip: Don’t wait for someone to take you here. Go for yourself — Paris is more fun when you’re the main character.

All-Purpose Shaw is a bustling Italian-American eatery known for its artisanal pizzas, antipasti, and wine. The pizzeria is renowned for its carefully crafted whole wheat dough and an array of classic and innovative pizza options such as chili-roasted corn with chili-lime aioli or truffle honey. Guests can kick off their meal with delectable garlic knots and indulge in desserts like tiramisu or freshly baked cookies paired with award-winning gelato from Dolcezza.
I love this place. The menu is full of classic pizzas and a few more interesting combos. The lil dippers are a fun addition for your pizza crusts - highly recommend that. My one critique is that everything could use a stronger sprinkle of salt. That said, the pizza and beers and tasty, and the service is friendly and quick. Great place for a slice!
Kelsey J — Google review
Visited Washington for a week, and this place had the best pizza I’ve ever had hands down! The food was incredible, the service was top-notch, and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. What really stood out was they even had a separate oven dedicated to gluten-free pizzas, which was a huge plus. If you’re in town and love pizza, this spot is an absolute must-visit!
Ani S — Google review
I had an overnight diversion in DC so took a chance on the All-purpose pizzeria. Absolutely amazing! Fresh ingredients and wonderful flavors in the Buona! Crust is excellent. Definitely a must for pizza in DC. I’ll order again!
Dr. B — Google review
All Purpose is some of the best pizza I ever had anywhere. A hidden gem, I go once a week. The happy hour/ pizza hour is an excellent deal as well, $7 wine and mini martinis AND $11 pizza! Are you kidding me ?!?!? My go to is the Bueno pizza, pepperoni and honey, and Cesar salad. Don’t sleep on the dippers, the parmesan dip is addictive. Also, make sure you check out the specials, they have great options sometimes like Hawaiian and BBQ chicken. There was also a Julep and Pomodoro (tomato liquor) cocktail that were delish and STRONG. Great service as well :) can’t wait until they bring the brussel sprouts back in the fall.
Anjali P — Google review
I really loved this place. The pizza was cooked to perfection, and they use high quality ingredients! I really want to go back to try out other dishes. Five stars!

It really is the best Pizza in Shaw. Only one problem, it's the only pizza I've eaten in Shaw. Staff was amazing, food was even better! Pro tip: truffle dip your crust!
Ryan S — Google review
I'm properly obsessed with this place! Incredible food, an excellent wine collection, and GREAT service. Perfect middle-of-the-road pricing, for the quality of food and service it feels like a steal. I'm only visiting DC but I've already been here twice, and I know I'll come back when I visit the area again!

We ordered dinner here from DoorDash had it to and had it delivered to our hotel after the Marine Corps marathon this weekend. The food was delicious and the homemade cookie was to die for. But your real shining star is Aaron. He answered the phone when I called to make a special request for our DoorDash order. He was extremely kind, very helpful and accommodating. I mentioned my best friend ran the marathon that morning and he sent a sweet message on our bag. Overall, our experience was great, but Aaron made our day. We would recommend your pizza and your kind staff any day ❤️ thanks for feeding us

Indian restaurant
Halal restaurant
Health food store
Rasa is a trendy eatery in the Capitol Riverfront area, offering custom bowls of rich Indian cuisine alongside a selection of beverages. The restaurant's vibrant ambiance and diverse menu options make for an enjoyable dining experience. Customers can either craft their own bowl from locally sourced ingredients or opt for one of Rasa's creatively named signature dishes. The fusion of Indian flavors and cultural influences is evident in the delicious sauces, proteins, veggies, and bases offered.
Default helped me put today. His customer service is the best I have had in a while. He even introduced me to two new sauces for my bowl. I will for sure be back to get lunch here again. Very good food and service. THANKS Dejaun!!
Byron S — Google review
So, I stumbled on Rasa randomly as I was trying to decide on what my taste buds desired as I walked from the Wharf to the Navy Yard. While walking past and eventually into Rasa, I immediately noticed that they were a cute, casual spot, that served Indian food. Needless to say I was sold. Rasa gives Chipotle/CAVA/Bindaas vibes (affordable food with decently healthy options). Additionally, the workers here were patient with honest recommendations, which I greatly appreciated. Prior to making such a hard decision lol, I sampled the chicken to help solidify my choice. The chicken by itself was flavored very well, which led me to get the Tikka Chance on Me Bowl. The bowl itself was great, portion wise, however there were some sauces and ingredients within the bowl that reduced the impact-fulness of that wonderfully flavored chicken. Due that, the bowl was just average to me. Overall, I had a good experience and will be open to trying something different at Rasa that amplifies the flavors of their chicken.
Sher N — Google review
I have been coming regularly, the best way to explain it is that it’s like a chipotle for Indian food, my favorite is the Shrimp bowl but they got rid of my second favorite which is the Goan style beef. However, lately they have introduced new chicken dishes like spicy chicken, butter chicken and new sides like chick peas which revamped their menu. The bowls are great, they have a protein and then sides and sauces which make a great combination, they also offer vegetarian options. I also likr their ice creams and mixed non alcoholic drinks. Service is quick, food quality is almost always good, and the staff are nice. The restaurant has some tables and nice decorations, I especially like the string art snd chotckes placed inside wooden boxes on the wall. But the best decorations by far is the 3 swings which I definitely love to sit and swing myself on!!!
Vum M — Google review
Went it with expectations after seeing overall positive reviews of Rasa all around DC. Unfortunately I was not impressed by the food. It was bland despite the ample ingredients added to the bowl. Food quality was a disappointment. The staff was friendly and welcoming, ready to help. Atmosphere vibes with the egg chairs hanging from the ceiling were cute. Lots of places to sit and I was surprised for a Saturday it was empty. I wouldn’t recommend adding this to your bucket place or somewhere to visit if you enjoy tasty food because this didn’t strike a chord for me.
Leah R — Google review
RASA is an interesting experience. I generally stick to the curries, usually chicken Tikka Masala or butter chicken. The food itself is generally flavorful and cooked appropriately, although it's all just a bag of chicken that they ladel onto your tray and then cover with the appropriate curry. Sometimes you get the end of a batch and it's not very good, either cold or gristly. I always get a side of naan that's just okay. If you order ahead it's 50/50 as to whether it will be done within the give window; a lot of times I show up and they ask me what I'm picking up and then they make the order right there. I guess that makes it more fresh, but seems to defeat the purpose of ordering ahead. The interior is cool and they serve a variety of drinks.
Allen N — Google review
This was our first time at RASA, and we had such a great experience! Dejuan helped us through the whole process — he was super friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. He gave great suggestions on what to try and even let us sample a few things before adding them to our bowls. Everything turned out delicious, and his service really made our first visit memorable. We’ll definitely be back!
Stephanie — Google review
Dejuan was pleasant, attentive and friendly. It was my second time trying RASA and he ensured I’d enjoy my lunch. Gave me a sample of the chicken options and was patient while I decided what I wanted to try. Shop was quiet. Dejuan did a great job. Everything was great except the spinach. Too mushy and didn’t enjoy the flavor.
Tesha R — Google review
I love Rasa Grill. The spicy chicken was amazing! Everything was so flavorful. Make sure you stop by and get the Kokum punch too. Ohhh and the Naan is made fresh and you can taste it.

American restaurant
Founding Farmers DC is a cooperative-grower-owned restaurant that offers farm-to-table American cuisine in a rustic setting. The establishment prides itself on making everything from scratch, using ingredients from trusted farmers. Their Hanukkah menu features holiday favorites like matzo ball soup, glazed chicken, brisket, honey-glazed salmon, potato latkes, and sufganiyot.
A downtown restaurant, very close to the White House. The place is large, spread over two floors, and well designed inside, featuring a piano bar and a central counter. The staff is quick, friendly, and efficient in answering any questions about the dishes. The food is excellent, and the prices are in line with what is offered. Both the sandwich and the meat platter were outstanding. And if you want to finish on a high note, the cream-filled profiteroles are simply fabulous. Six big, delicious ones—I ate them all. A small note: I would suggest adding a cutlery rest, and also serving more Brie in the Brie-and-apple appetizer—it was almost invisible. Highly recommended!
Riccardo — Google review
Food is great and fresh. I got the cheeseburger and fried okra. My husband got the chicken fried steak meal with gravy, macaroni and cheese, green beans and a waffle. No complaints. All very good. Andy was our waitress on both occasions and she was great. Ambience is very nice and bright. I would definitely recommend.
Rebecca S — Google review
Every staff member we encountered was pleasant and professional. The host was welcoming and our server was extremely attentive. The food was very fresh. The macaroni and cheese is the best I’ve ever tasted. The coconut cream pie made an excellent dessert. I’m sure I will be back again in the near future.

I can not say enough good about this place and it's breakfast!! First we ordered coffee and a plate of the beignets. The beignets were absolute HEAVEN! A plate of six comes with three sauces, chocolate, raspberry and caramel. All delicious! My husband and I both ordered the breakfast tacos for our main dish. It came with a side of hash Browns. Everything was amazing! The tacos were VERY tasty! Our friends we're visiting from Chicago. They ordered eggs/ omelet with bacon, hash browns and sides of pancakes/ french toast. I tried a bite of my buddy's french toast because it looked so delicious I couldnt resist! I don't Even like French toast and I have to say that it was amazing as well. Besides the food being great and plentiful, which is something I always think about when picking a place to eat. I don't like leaving hungry after I just paid for a meal. I also don't go out very often to places like this so I always appreciate that it was even more than I could eat. I brought one of my tacos home!! The prices are very reasonable! Especially for the area. That was also one of the reasons I chose this location to bring my friends. It has great reviews and the pictures that I saw of the food looked amazing. It did not disappoint. My friends even said that I picked phenomenally in choosing Founding Farmer's!! It is 100% a restaurant you should visit while in for breakfast especially! We do plan to go back for lunch or dinner to check that out too! Our server was amazing as well and the atmosphere is nice. They have outdoor and indoor sting as well as a bar!! We chose to sit outside as it was a decent day! All and all if I could give them ten stars I would!!!!

My ride-or-die restaurant when I’m in DC. Fresh ingredients and plenty of options to please every palate — salads, sandwiches, fish and meat plates, pastas, and more. My risotto was good, but I expected a bit more flavor considering all the ingredients. Next time, I’ll try the scallops. The French fries are some of the best you’ll ever taste, and their natural sodas are super refreshing — I had the hibiscus one. Better make a reservation in advance, it’s always packed. We visited this restaurant for dinner on a Friday night and liked it so much that we came back again on Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere was great, and every dish we ordered was excellent — full of flavor and perfectly prepared. The service was good, and although the prices are a bit on the higher side, the quality of the food and the overall experience made it totally worth it.
Suly — Google review
This place was packed and I found out why...the food DELICIOUS and the service great. The restaurant is 2 stories and simply beautiful. Our server Ty was amazing, very attentive and great customer service 👏🏾. We had the opportunity to meet the manager Lorena she took care of us. If you're visiting the DC area you will be doing yourself a disservice by not trying this restaurant.
TAUNYA G — Google review
Extremely Disappointed – Quality Has Seriously Declined I’m genuinely disappointed with how far this place has fallen. It used to be one of the best spots around for both vegan and regular food — great quality, great service. Sadly, that’s no longer the case. On my most recent visit, the food was borderline inedible. The French fries were completely burned, yet somehow also soggy and greasy — as if they'd been preheated in old oil and left out too long. The veggie burger was downright disgusting. The tomato tasted off, almost spoiled, and the overall flavor was just bad. Nothing felt fresh or properly cooked. This isn't an isolated incident, either. It’s the second time in a row I’ve had serious issues with the food here, and it’s clear the quality has dropped dramatically. Whatever has changed — whether it’s the kitchen staff, suppliers, or management — it’s for the worse. Really hope they turn things around, but for now, I won’t be coming back.

If you're in Washington, D.C., and have a penchant for seafood, then Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab is an essential stop on your culinary journey. This upscale eatery combines the best of surf and turf in a lavish setting that exudes elegance. The menu boasts an impressive selection of fresh seafood delights, including their renowned stone crab—celebrated for its sweet and tender meat—as well as prime steaks that are sure to please any meat lover.
Overall the food was delicious. The lobster Mac and cheese was amazing!!! The wedge salad, the spinach, the sea bass and rib eye were delicious. Even the bread basket was a hit, I couldn’t get enough of the corn muffins. Yummy!!! The calamari was a little too chewy and unseasoned but that was the only miss. This was my first visit but I would definitely go back!

Came for a quick afternoon pre dinner snack. The service was excellent, and the food was deliciously prepared. I requested a seed oil-free option, and they happily prepared my perfectly cooked Madagascar shrimp along with a fresh salad plus menage. I'm still dreaming about that meal! We also enjoyed the Shrimp Cobb Salad, which was delightful. Additionally, they offered a complimentary bread basket with butter.

I have visited Joe”s multiple times and hands down they have the best staff. Very welcoming and friendly. My food this time was ok, I had the Seafood Chopped Salad and Lobster Mac and Cheese. My sister had the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, they were delicious. I will definitely return and try something else, they have a lot to offer. My biggest complaint was the sconce at our table needed to be cleaned. We addressed with our waiter, so hopefully she passed it along.

I ordered the sea bass and had Joe’s chopped salad to go with it. The glaze on the sea bass just made the dish that much better. Others in my party had the New York strip steak. Both were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We also shared some asparagus, sautéed mushrooms, and the lobster mac & cheese. The asparagus seemed under cooked (it was a little hard) but all of the other sides were perfect. For dessert, we shared a slice of the Chocolate Fudge Pie, The Boston Cream Pie, and the Key Lime pie. I didn’t care much for the Chocolate Fudge Pie but the Key Lime Pie was simply amazing and I highly recommend it. The atmosphere was elegant, with the staff dressed sharply, though the restaurant was a little on the loud side. We arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation and were seated right away without any wait, which was a nice touch. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience.

This restaurant delivers every time in every single one of their locations! We have tried them all. The experience at Joe’s was top tier— the ambiance the energy there are conducive to a good dining experience. Our server, Patrick was incredibly professional, prompt, knowledgeable and efficient. He made our dining experience memorable. He checked in regularly and he was very personable and funny, he puts the serve in service! The food was another highlight, talk about the presentation, the flavor, the portions and the price, everything was perfect! I especially appreciated how the team worked together to make dining memorable- once used, the utensils were replaced with cleaner ones, and someone always quickly removes crumbs from the table, like magic! plan to return soon. Eating at Joe’s is dining done right! We returned as promised ( 2 days later) and everything was super consistent! Again Patrick was our server and again he delivered on our expectations, and yet again the food was stellar! We have never experienced such attention to details and service at such a high caliber in any restaurant. I truly hope that the ‘ powers that be’ understand the importance of the role Patrick, and others, play in his/ her dining establishment, especially since competition in the food industry is so rife. Patrick is a gem! As you well know, customer service can make the difference for any service business. Patrick clearly mastered the art of customer service , which proved why we returned so soon. Great food excellent service! If you have not yet visited Joe’s Seafood,Prime Steak & Stone Crab, you must, and when you do request Patrick as your server. You will have the best dining experience!

It's an elegant yet casual restaurant. From the warm bread they bring to the table and the variety of options, the food is a feast for the palate. The lobster bisque is unparalleled, and the service is prompt and attentive. Definitely a return visit.

Joe’s Prime Steak and Stone Crab in Washington, D.C. offers an exceptional dining experience in a setting that reflects the city’s classic high-end atmosphere. The meal was outstanding from start to finish. The porterhouse steak was grilled to perfection—expertly cooked, flavorful, and tender—while the lobster tail stood out as one of the finest I’ve had anywhere: succulent, rich, and perfectly complemented by butter. The crab cake appetizer was equally impressive, packed with fresh crab meat and delivering great depth of flavor. Service at Joe’s is impeccable, with staff who are both highly attentive and professional, enhancing the overall experience. For anyone visiting D.C., Joe’s is a must-visit destination that consistently delivers on both food and service.

I had high expectations for Joe’s Stone Crab, but the experience was disappointing from start to finish. The menu is limited and not cook-to-order, which became a serious problem for my friend who has several food allergies. There were no allergy indicators on the menu, and when we asked for help, the waiter was dismissive and unaccommodating. What made it worse was the repeated use of “young lady” when addressing my friend—it came off as condescending and tone-deaf, especially after we had already expressed concerns. Her meal, one of the few things she could safely eat, was completely unseasoned and still cost nearly $100. She left hungry. On top of that, while they serve espresso martinis, we were told we couldn’t order a plain espresso—which just speaks to the rigid, customer-unfriendly approach here. For a restaurant with such a storied reputation, the service felt outdated and indifferent. There was no flexibility, no care for dietary needs, and frankly, no justification for the price. We won’t be returning.

Ben's Chili Bowl is a historic eatery that has been serving up spicy hot dogs, chili-cheese fries, and milkshakes since it opened on U Street in August 1958. The restaurant has played a unique role in the community, staying open past curfew during the 1968 race riots to serve activists, police, and firemen.
Awesome historic restaurant located next to the Lincoln Theater. Great chili, burgers, dogs, smokies, and fries. We’ve been there several times and always enjoy going back. If it’s good for celebrities and presidents it’s good for us! Reasonable prices and great food. Order at the counter and sit either inside or out. Would suggest the Metro or an Uber if going.

This is definitely a historic and iconic place, and I can see why so many people love it. The atmosphere is great, it really gives you that classic American vibe. As for the food, we liked it, but to be honest, I’d rate it 4 out of 5. French fries weren't our favorite. Also, they forgot one of the milkshakes we ordered, and we had to wait quite a while for it. It was finally brought out when we had already finished eating and were getting ready to leave.
Anastasiia S — Google review
A classic American diner with chili dishes and more. Juicy and tasty hot dogs, very good burgers and sandwiches. The fries are really good—I personally prefer them without cheese, as I think the cheese makes them a bit worse, but that’s just a matter of taste. If you want to dine in a typical tourist-style American diner, this is the right place for you. I had a burger with cheesy fries, then more fries and a hot dog. Everything was good, and the prices were fair! I would suggest improving the way order numbers are called out for dish delivery, since they are hard to hear because of the background noise and the loudspeaker. Also, I’d remove the fries served in the paper bag, which feel a bit underwhelming. Highly recommended!

This was an amazing experience for me! So much history in a landmark! The hot dog burst juice as soon as a put a fork in it! Delicious chili cheese fries and this homemade coconut cake with pineapple was SINFUL! The staff are so friendly, they make you feel right at home. Their original spot across the street is being remodeled, but there temporary space was just as amazing. You’ve won my heart, Ben’s Chili Bowl! I will be back! Cool merch as well. Not sure how I’m going to fit it!

A must stop in DC. Had a friendly greeting and was seated promptly. We were lucky it wasn't super busy, but there are 2 rooms of seating beyond the front counter entrance. Had chili, half-smoke chili dog, corn bread, and banana pudding. All were so delicious! Music they played was awesome too...it was a nice lunch!!
Heather W — Google review
Great place with tons of history. It’s a great midnight snack. Definitely enjoyed the half smokes. We tried both the original and spicy and prefer the original. The onion rings were decent too but portions are too small.
Leslie L — Google review
The low rating is mainly due to the lackluster French fries and Ben's half smoke. The French fries were rather cold at some parts and the half smoke was mild. I felt like I was robbed. Could have gone to McDonald's and Costco and came out ahead and been fuller. The only highlight was the Oreo milkshake, which is absolutely delicious. Be forewarned that there are charges for additional things added to the fries. I had to remove cheese and few things to get it to the price point I wanted.
K.A — Google review
We ordered one Big Ben’s burger with fries, one side order of fries, one chocolate shake and a mocha latte. We paid $41. We visited the airport location. The burger is supposed to be steroid-free, non-frozen, but it tasted like any other reg burger. The fries were on the top worse fries as they tasted high in sodium and frozen. The shakes are made with cheap syrups. The mocha was one of the worse as well. We couldn’t finish the fries nor the shake. The lady who took our order was clearly sleep-deprived and not in a good mood. The overall experience wasn’t good and over priced for cheap food. Wouldn’t recommend spending your money at this place. Very disappointed.

Founding Farmers Fishers & Bakers in Georgetown offers a farm-inspired American dining experience with a touch of sushi and cocktails, all served in a modern, eco-friendly setting with scenic river views. The restaurant is part of the Farmers Restaurant Group, which is dedicated to supporting American family farmers. Their menu features dishes crafted from scratch using fresh ingredients, including farmhouse sushi, house-made pizzas, mussel pots, and jambalayas.
One of the best dining experiences I have had in a while. Split the seared sushi grade tuna and the Chimichurri skirt steak & chicken enchiladas with a friend. Everything was cooked to perfection but the skirt steak was out of this world amazing! Was able to try several of the spirits they make which was an enjoyable experience. Finished with the peanut butter pie which was also delicious. Almost everything we ordered was a recommendation from our waitress, Miriam; she was a key reason the evening was so amazing. Chris also stopped by our table a few times to check in on us. Will definitely go back when visiting DC again!!

Service: Came with a friend to celebrate her birthday. We had a reservation and were seated quickly, definitely recommend making one, as the place fills up fast. The staff was courteous and helpful, though they only offer a birthday candle (not a free dessert, in case you’re hoping for one). Our waiter was attentive, and the food came out promptly. Taste: We started with the spinach and artichoke dip, which was great, but the real star was the bread, to die for! Perfectly baked with just the right touch of garlic. For mains, my friend had the fried seafood platter, and I got the crab cake sandwich, both with fries. The seafood tasted fresh and came in generous portions. While the platter could’ve used a touch more seasoning, it wasn’t bad. The crab cake sandwich on brioche was flavorful and definitely worth ordering again. Ambiance: The restaurant has a laid-back yet classy waterfront vibe, perfect for casual celebrations or catching up with friends. The view of the waterfront adds a nice touch, especially if you’re dining during the day. It’s spacious, but does get busy, so reservations are a smart move. Overall Review: Founding Farmers Fishers & Bakers offers a solid dining experience with good food, friendly service, and great scenery. Prices are fair for the area, and the location makes it a nice spot to enjoy a meal and walk by the water after. I’d come back, especially for that garlic bread and the crab cake sandwich!

After a long travel day, Founding Farmers Fishers & Bakers in DC hit the spot. The reviews didn't lie--this place is amazing and farm to table. Walk if you can, as parking's can be tough. Our server, Fernando, was fantastic, recommending us to stellar dishes. The steak was perfectly cooked, juicy, and flavorful. The fish fry combo was crispy yet light, a perfect balance. Great vibe, excellent service, and hearty food made for a memorable night. Rating: 5/5 - Highly recommend!

We’re regulars at Founding Farmers, and every visit feels like coming back to a place that truly knows us. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and comforting, but what keeps us coming back is the outstanding service. Our waitress, Charlise, is absolutely excellent. She remembers details about our preferences from past visits, which makes dining here feel personal and special. It’s rare to find someone so attentive, friendly, and consistent—she goes above and beyond to make sure everything is just right. If you’re looking for great food paired with warm, memorable service, Founding Farmers is the place to be. And if have Charlise as your server, you’ll understand why we keep coming back!
Alisha C — Google review
My experience at this Founding Farmers location was so disappointing. I’m a solo traveler from Philly and was so excited when I initially made my reservation. When I arrived to the restaurant prior to ordering with my partner, I notified them a shellfish allergy. I can still have things like regular fish and other seafood but given how busy it was, the managers notified me that they could not accommodate my allergy. I was so shocked. It was my first time in DC and back in Philly, nearly every restaurant I’ve been to has been able to accommodate my allergy. I was so heartbroken. They explained that cross contamination happens a lot and it’s occurs often with how stations are set up in the kitchen. Given how they are a chain, I thought the procedures would be handled in a more organized fashion but I was surprised. The manager at the time directed me to just the pizza and burgers which was such a let down. I won’t lie, I teared up a bit because I was so excited for this to be a highlight of my trip. It was the last meal I was going to have before my two day trip ended. They still served us the salmon farm pressed sushi even though I notified them of my allergy which was a shocker despite how adamant they were of the danger of me having any seafood dish. The sushi was horrifying. It matched the description to a certain extent but as a person of color, seeing it layered like a trifle cake was such a shock and the flavor was so disappointing. Hoison sauce in Chinese and Asian cuisine is never really paired in this way and there was no soy sauce provided. We promptly got the check and I was on the brink of tears leaving. It was such a bummer that such a well known chain had such a poorly managed kitchen that can’t accommodate allergies. Luckily, my partner and I found some mom and pop restaurants that were so accommodating and friendly about my allergy. I made a second visit to DC and found that there are plenty of restaurants that offer better quality food for better price points and felt so much more accommodating. I won’t lie - I felt almost shamed and excluded at Founding Farmers because of my allergy and it really made me think negatively of the food scene in DC.

It’s right on the water front so the environment is beautiful. Outside seating available and do that when the weather is nice. The chicken and waffle is highly recommended. Good service overall. Parking available underground. Easy walk to Georgetown for shopping.

Variety and quality of food is exceptional. Bonus is the occasional offering of something special, like shrimp or sushi, at your table. Our waiter, Gabriel, was an angel. I had eggs benedict, which was delicious. My new favorite thing is caramelized grapefruit though.

Excellent service from Frederick and Fernando. As customers who can change our mind, Frederick was graceful in moving us to the bar so that we could enjoy the happy hours discount and treats. Fernando served up a beautiful Frozen Gin Cocktail for me which was refreshing and delicious. Our food was good and wholesome. The restaurant was extremely clean and tidy. Staff made a big effort to make you welcome, whilst maintaining the best hygiene standards. Definitely one of the better places I have eating The USA. Thanks Team for a lovely afternoon. We were recommended to come here by our jeweler, & we are so happy we popped in! It is such a cool atmosphere, inside & outside. The staff was incredible from the hosts to our server! Food was wonderful. I highly recommend stopping here if you’re in town! It’s very unique inside & all the artwork is awesome too.

Delicious food!! We all loved our dishes and drinks. I ordered the Sangria and Chicken Marsala Fettuccine, and it was absolutely divine. The atmosphere was very nice, a little bit loud because of the bar. The service was nice, a little slow to get our check and boxes but the food and drinks came out timely. Overall a great dinner.

Great place to pop into for dinner. Local sourced food. American Cuisine. Two bars inside. I highly recommend the catfish and crab lump cake. The side salad vinaigrette dressing is very light and tasty. Quickly seated and service was attentive. I would recommend Clyde's for nice dinner meal.

We had such a lovely meal at Clyde’s in Georgetown! The atmosphere feels classic and cozy with that old-school charm — perfect for a relaxed lunch date. I ordered the steak frites, which came perfectly cooked with a creamy mustard sauce and crispy golden fries — absolutely delicious. My boyfriend got the bacon cheeseburger, and he loved it! Juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. We started with the jumbo shrimp cocktail (super fresh and sweet) and finished with an espresso and a slice of cheesecake topped with cherries — the perfect ending to the meal. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and everything came out beautifully presented. Overall, Clyde’s is a great spot for classic American comfort food with a touch of elegance. We’d definitely come back!

Service was great. Were seated right away and the table was in the back, so less noisy (as some said this restaurant can get). Oktoberfest beer was good. Steak was good, and so was salmon salad. I had parmesan trout, which was okay. Will try the burger next time.

Beautiful spot but unfortunately food and service was not up to par. My friend and I ordered Calamari, Caesar salads and Chicken Marsala Pasta. The Calamari and Caesar salad were good but the Pasta was not the best. It was extremely bitter and tasted almost rotten. We tried to find our waitress for a while but we couldn’t find her. The manager was nice and helpful with the pasta but we felt a little alienated after complaining about the dish. I appreciate the atmosphere but I definitely would never go back here again.

I was with a party of 8 and it was our first visit. The food was delicious, however, I do not believe they are equipped to handle larger parties. We waited quite some time for water, drink orders and food. The servers were walking around as if they did not know which tables to serve. Overall, once we did receive service…..it was good. I would definitely try it again. I ordered the shrimp and crab salad….so delicious!

Founding Farmers Nice place to gather after a busy day viewing museums. The location was easy to find. The Labor Day holiday allowed free and easy access to street parking. The restaurant is spacious and inviting with a nice outdoor patio area. Service was prompt and friendly. Their lunch/ dinner menu was quite extensive. I did wish was that the music was toned down in volume. Their menu was quite extensive and the prices seemed about par for the area. The fried green tomatoes was ok, but I would have liked a lighter touch to the batter that was used. I had the Shrimp and Grits, Andouille which was a bit salty and the portion of grits was quite meager. But everyone completed their meal and were well filled. I hear their brunch is quite popular.

The spicy chicken sandwich was delicious. Had the right amount of heat and flavor. The beignets where a miss. They tasted like a fried donut, very heavy and doughy. Verus a light and fluffy beignet. Service is fast and staff is nice and helpful.

We did brunch buffet this past weekend and to he honest it was alright. We went there 11:30sh and most of the food are not getting refilled or they take long to refill. Location: It is located along Massachusetts Avenue. There is a lot of seatings inside and the main buffet spot is in the middle. Service: the guy served us was good. Food: to be honest the food was alright. It is a hit and missed. Most of the food trays are empty so you have to go back twice or trice to check if they refill it which they don’t. My favorites were the ribs, roast beef, beignet which you must get!!! Otherwise other food is generic. Also not much choices for a $45 dollar buffet. Price rating: 9/10. We pay $110 for 2 people including tips. It is probably worth it if they refill food quickly. Will probably not come back for buffet here, maybe regular menu is better.

Dining experience went well. We had the brunch buffet. The Southern fried chicken and the mashed potatoes were definitely my favorite. There were several items that were overcooked (Chinese fried chicken, bourbon like chicken, fried shrimp, the glazed salmon and catfish. Sacha, our server, was great. She was attentive and knowledgeable. We even tried some a la carte items that we did not really care for (the crab dip). The cheesy buckwheat grits were “different.” They tasted good but the texture was not that of your normal grits.

My husband and I stopped here for an early lunch on a Sunday. There were a few groups waiting to be seated at a table when we walked in, but we were able to find some open seats at the bar. It was very lively with the breakfast/brunch bar, but we decided to order coffees and sandwiches. I got a hot mocha with no whip, while my husband ordered an iced vanilla latte. Both were ridiculously good, nice espresso-forward flavors without being overly sweet. The sandwiches look so unassuming (my husband had the pastrami and I had the turkey BLT), but are huge and sooooo good. Hand cut fries were delicious and the onion rings are massive, yet so soft and crispy! Definitely no biting into these onion rings where the whole onion pulls away from the breading. We both were only able to eat half of our meals at the time, but they also packed well to-go and ate nicely after sitting in the fridge for a bit. Definitely a spot we’ll pop into again when we’re in the area!

This place was okay. The service was a bit shotty because the restaurant is super busy. I could tell that our waiter was a bit irritated sometimes but overall our group had a good experience. I had the drunken noodles but I didn’t feel they were that great. It was very oily and I pretty much only ate the onions and protein in it. The biscuit was really good but they definitely came out cold.

Nestled in the heart of Bethesda, Woodmont Grill is a delightful dining destination that offers an upscale twist on American cuisine. With a diverse menu featuring everything from juicy burgers and succulent rib-eye steaks to fresh seafood like salmon, there's something for everyone. The restaurant prides itself on its reasonable prices, making it perfect for both romantic dinners and family outings without breaking the bank.
Swung by for happy hour earlier this week and was very impressed by the service, cleanliness, food/drink options, and decor. Their GM, Rose, was awesome and constantly checked in on us and surrounding tables (even though she wasn’t our server). The menu is largely seafood, although they have other options for non-seafood lovers. The location is in a lovely part of Bethesda next to a big parking garage, hotels, and several other restaurants. Hope to be back soon!

This place has been around for a very long time, maybe over 30 years. It's still one of the classiest places in Bethesda for lunch and dinner. For all this time, they always have their spinach dip, ribs and Houston's Hawaiian ribeye on their menu and for good reason. Whenever I come here for dinner, you can count on me ordering spinach dip to start and having either the ribs or Houston's Hawaiian ribeye. Now, I wish they didn't get rid of their fries and loaded baked potato, not sure what their logic is behind that. It's not like potatoes are expensive. For lunch, I really like their crispy chicken sandwich and cheeseburger. Now, I wish once in a while they would bring back some of my past favorite dishes like their club sandwich, hickory burger and baked potato soup. One could only wish.

Woodmont Grill holds a special place in my heart and my family's heart. A very special person in our lives passed away 15 years ago. We would frequent Houstons on the pike, and the Woodmont Grill. Our friend was a definite "foodie" and his love for the Woodmont Grill was unmistakable. In honor of his life, we visit the Woodmont Grill annually, and at other times as well. Their delicious food, friendly and attentive service never disappoints. Our server last night was particularly amazing. We left full of great food, and a wonderful feeling after our visit.

First, Woodmont is always lovely at anytime of the day! I’ve been going to the Bethesda location for 30+ years (Georgetown since the 90s) and it’s my family’s all time favorite. From being greeted, to being seated the ambiance, the servers, food and drinks, and management, it’s alway the perfect experience from start to finish. Last night Alyssa was our server and she was just perfect all the way around! Just delightful! Very professional, pleasant and attentive. During our time there we started with shrimp cocktail and spinach and artichoke dip and jack rabbit cocktails. For our entrees we both had the Hawaiian steak, pomme purée, braised red cabbage and creamed corn to share. All cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious!

Overall Rating: 5.00: One of my fav restaurants in Bethesda. While Hillstone is a chain restaurant, the outstanding service and Hugh quality freshly prepare food is an experience. 1. French Dip au Jus: Served on a toasted house-made French roll filled with thinly sliced USDA prime rib and accompanied by savory au jus for dipping. 2. House-made Veggie Burger 🍔: Crafted from black beans, rice, jalapeños, molasses-coated with a crunchy sweet exterior, and pink-hued filled center. Best veggie burger I’ve ever had with yummy sting fries. 🍟 3. Double‑Cut Pork Chop: Cured in‑house, with whipped potatoes (tomato’s substituted) and braised red cabbage. Fall‑off‑the‑bone tender deliciousness. 4. Spinach Dip: Amazing, freshly prepared spinach dip with salsa, sour cream and tortilla chips beyond the usual bread or chips. If you're craving an elevated, hearty, and richly savory food, Woodmont Grill at Hillstone is a standout choice. Outstanding service including open bar and sushi bar. I’m confident you won’t be disappointed.

Had a really nice experience here. Had reservation for 730 and although we waited for our table for 20 minutes, manager made up for it by giving us a starter on the house. Just walked in for a Lunch meeting and Drinks. Was told that since I didn’t have a reservation, they couldn’t seat me for an hour. They had plenty of open tables. This is reprehensible. Rarely find a business that turns Business away. I guess they’re just too good for our money on a Saturday afternoon. We had to walk across the street to Blacks. they were happy to seat use and treated use very well. No reservations necessary. Won’t Go Back

I was gifted a dinner here and two of my adult children and I arrived for a Thursday evening service. The setting is beautiful, like an outdoor courtyard, but inside! The staff was welcoming, energetic and friendly. Throughout the evening, attention was showered upon us with each new course. The cocktails we ordered were well made and delicious. Each course was delivered with an explanation. Although we enjoyed some items more than others, we tried everything. It was delicious and we were stuffed when we were done. If you are looking for a special evening with delicious food and great service, I highly recommend.

Truly one of the best dining experiences in D.C.!

Incredible experience here twice! Most recently went to celebrate my anniversary, did the "choose your own adventure" menu at the chef's counter. Delicious options (famous pork & lychee salad is a MUST), good portion sizes, and top notch service (big shout out to Lindsay S. for making our celebration extra special with an additional dessert!) Also love how casual/relaxed this place is (and not be exorbitantly expensive), and yet has maintained its Michelin Star for several years. Just goes to show you can deliver a superb dining experience without the traditional fanciness/priciness. This place is a must-try in DC!

Truly I can say that I had one of the best meals of my life at Rose’s. Put it this way i ate there in February (‘25) and I’m still thinking of that meal every often. The service here is some of the best in DC, from the moment you walk in and are greeted by the hostess down to the kind and quick person who refills your water before you even realized you had sipped half your glass already. I enjoyed the variety of flavors and fusions of food groups. 5/5 service 5/5 recommend to others 5/5 will return

Six of us had the tasting menu and every item was phenomenal. Our favorites were pork and lychee salad, tuna tartare, and the super charred cabbage. Each dish was visually appealing and an explosion of flavors. The service was amazing. They even ran to a sister restaurant to find a bottle of wine for us. Loved the energy of the restaurant. Highly recommend Rose’s Luxury!

This place still kills it. It was one of the better meals I've had this year. The service is excellent and the food is outstanding. They make every meal a special occasion. And yes, add the adult happy meal to your order.

The food was great. Be prepared for a very rich meal. I am glad I paced myself and didn’t feel the need to clean every plate. The vibe is casual. They serve some of the dishes on very cute tea sets. Loved that.

A very solid 4.5 out of 5. Rounding up because the service is just so friendly and top-notch. I was a walk-in and sat at the bar on a Thursday night and got the tasting menu. Was overall pleasantly surprised with all the food given. I think it's an amazing value for all of the food you are given. I definitely left very full. Things that I am not a huge fan of such as cauliflower, raisins, etc I gobbled up because they were so we'll prepared. I thought the Happy Meal was well presented but was the miss on the menu. Burger was awesome but I thought it just a step above Shake Shack, for example. Fries also had good seasoning but we're incredibly salty. The other dishes I had were all really good and I'll definitely return.

2 Amys is a lively pizzeria known for its innovative Neapolitan-style pizzas and Italian wine selection. While it was once recognized by the Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana, the owner has expressed that this distinction no longer holds significance. The restaurant's simple recipes allow high-quality ingredients to shine, and its 'wine bar' menu offers an array of small Italian plates in addition to their renowned pizzas.
A classic. The appetizers are all amazing - deviled eggs, suppli, meatballs. The green sauce that goes with the deviled eggs brings them to another level! We tried the anchovies this time - taste truly of the ocean, paired super well with the fresh cream butter and bread. The pizza is consistently flavorful and delicious, ingredients are super fresh and the crust is crispy and thin. just watch out because its burn your mouth hot. Highlight of the meal is always dessert! The strawberry shortcake is a must try. The cream is light and soft, the strawberries and biscuit are a great accessory. Thanks Amy!

I have been to 2 Amys many, many times. It has always been consistently amazing and delicious. Their Neapolitan-style pizzas are really special and satisfying and are always fresh with excellent quality ingredients. The restaurant is walk-in only so it can get crowded sometimes, but is fair with everyone who walks in the front door. No reservations accepted. There are small 2 or 4-person tables throughout the dining floor, as well as a bar area towards the back. The vibe is family friendly, and fills with everyone from young kids, to young adults, to older adults looking to enjoy good food and a great wine selection, as well. There are also single-occupancy gender-neutral bathrooms, which I try to take note of when I write restaurant reviews for the safety of trans and non-binary customers and foodies. 🚻🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 Parking is street parking, either paid or, oftentimes, you can find a spot in the 2-hr neighborhood nearby. 2 Amys has been around for a while and they've never, to my knowledge, dipped in quality. Service is very busy but friendly. As I mentioned above, you'll be seated when an open table becomes vacant. After that, be ready for a great meal 😋 One other thing, tipping is included into every check and additional tips are not accepted. Enjoy your meal :)

We found this place on a bike ride over a year ago and finally made it back in normal clothes for an early dinner to give it a shot. The food is really good, plenty of wines by the glass, the meatballs were outstanding. They have several options that include anchovies, which is both authentic and awesome (for me). In the back they have a wine bar. We were early and were seated right away, but it was getting crowded as we left. We cannot wait to return and try more of their menu!

Fantastic pizza. Great atmosphere. No reservation required. No tip needed. Is this the future of dining??? I certainly hope so. Can’t wait to return for many more! Ordered margharita - since that’s the baseline to judge a good pizza. The crust was crispy, unbelievably thin in the middle, cooked to perfection with a good combination of chew on the edges and snap in the middle. It was flavorful with a good amount of charred bits. The sauce was acidic, bright, and sweet. The daily special pizza was great too. The 2 Amy sausage on it was a highlight -packed with fennel. The pizza was a bit spicy which hit the spot.

Worst pizza ever. Paid over $25 for a burnt pie, done in a rush, very salty and tasteless. Paid $15 for a scoop of sorbet. Waitress was cold and uninterested. Lots of staff but no warmth except the lady who greets and sit guests. Having a gift card is the only reason we went there otherwise they are far more better pizza restaurants than this. Fancy pizza names with ridiculous prices. Not worth it!

Visiting DC family .. they suggested 2 Amys. No reservations so grabbed 4 seats at the bar; a stroke of luck as the bar service was incredibly friendly. We shared three vegetarian pizzas: one with eggplant, a Margherita with a splash of pesto, and one with cauliflower. Everything, including the fresh simple green salad; delicious. Craft beer and nice selection of wine by the glass, and a chocolate pudding (?) for dessert. Highly recommend l; a great meal and a fantastic family night!

Service is really friendly and quick. No reservations but you can have a drink at the bar whilst you wait for a table. Appetisers and pizzas are both delicious and love the cannoli for dessert.

What do I say about one of my favorite restaurants? I used to live a few blocks away and go with my kids, they provide paper and crayons. Now I live far and will drive 20 minutes out of my way to eat there (not for the crayons). The pizza is solid, ignore the losers who don’t understand what a pizza is and are used to fast food joints. (Tell me you’re a rube without telling me you’re a rube cause the pizza isn’t “solid enough”) They keep ingredients simple but good. The crust is fluffy and divine. What’s really magical about the place is the appetizers and little plates and daily specials. These guys will experiment with stuff you’d never put together. Always simple, feels like country style European food, but always delicious with great ingredients. You go in for a small beer and a small plate or two at the bar in the back and leave with a smile. One drawback is how loud it can get. It’s always packed and it’s small. Definitely worth it though.

Vermilion, located in Old Town, Alexandria, is a trendy spot known for its fresh New American fare and wine pairings. The restaurant sources ingredients from local farms in Virginia and neighboring mid-Atlantic states, offering a farm-to-table dining experience. With a formal dining room showcasing a three-course tasting menu and fancy bar bites like catfish sliders and arancini downstairs, Vermilion provides a diverse culinary experience.
Went for our anniversary, had an amazing experience. We did the tasting menu which was phenomenal. Came with a few chef’s extras Huge portions, we were stuffed. They also brought us some cake pops to celebrate and some champagne at the beginning. The only thing I’ll say was that it’s a smaller menu with only a few main course options, and we weren’t told that the fish was sold out until we tried to order it, leaving us with only meat and veggie-only options. Everything was delicious, though!
Julianna W — Google review
Delicious food, casual relaxed atmosphere, implacable service. It was our first time here, we opted for their prefix menu, they call it “farm-to-table menu” I think. There was a nice mix of appetizers, a reasonably sized entree and a few other amuse-bouche bites. Every dish has an interesting, yet excellent twist, with a good mix of complimentary flavors and textures. Like figs & blue cheese, fried oysters and anchovies, etc. The short rib entrée was delicious, complimented with roasted peanuts and perfectly charred, slightly crunchy broccoli rabe. It’s a bit useless to share specific items we had, since menu is seasonal and ever changing, but I will add pictures.

I enjoyed a nice dinner at Vermilion after traveling for 12 hours due to weather delays. Im not sure if it is my extreme hunger or my love of unique restaurants, but I definitely enjoyed my dinner here. I had the New Frontier Bison Flank Steak and enjoyed every bite. The unique combo of red sauce with beans accompanied by medium rare bison and some small slices of goat cheese were an enjoyable experience. The gentleman behind the bar was a retired Marine and complete professional. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and I believe that you will too.

Bad experience. Although they admitted their mistake by not charging us for the burgers they'd forgotten to include in our order. It took 50 minutes for them to arrive at our table. The food was good. Apple cider donuts and the aforementioned burgers.

Vermilion is an excellent date night spot with excellent food and service! My husband and I had dinner here for the first time and were seated upstairs. It was dimly lit for intimacy and charming Edison lights strewn about the ceiling made the dining area feel dreamy. Our server, Evelyn, was exemplary with describing the menu, the restaurant, and with her service - she was so kind! Everything was delicious and plated so beautifully. I was so happy to see they had a mocktail section and enjoyed a 'Persephone's Return', a bubbly drink with pomegranate syrup. My husband got the crispy oysters and I got Bettie's buns to start. The buns were SO soft, and the flaked salt on top contrasted incredibly with the whipped sorghum butter. Our main courses were equally impressive. The goat cheese cappellacci was al dente and delicious - the cheese was bright and "goaty", the squash so cute, and the pomodoro sauce was so good I scraped the plate! My husband loved his short rib and commented how tender it was. We split a strawberry rhubarb buckle; it was not too sweet at all, the lemon verbena was nice and sharp to contrast the sweet oat streusel. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to future dates at Vermilion!

Had an outstanding first visit here! Mila was a fantastic server, very attentive. Bettie’s Buns w/ Sorghum Butter - 10/10 no notes Crispy Potato “Gratin” w/ black garlic aioli & ranch seasoning - 9/10, would have liked a little spice in the aioli Chilled sweet corn soup - 7/10 would get again, menu said it would have shaved jalapeño but didn’t have any spice or peppery flavor Butterhead Lettuce Salad - 10/10 dressing was well balanced and seasoned, fresh produce, very satisfying

Bistro Cacao is a charming French bistro housed in a townhouse with antique decor and intimate curtained booths, creating a romantic ambiance. The menu offers classic French dishes like French Onion Soup topped with Gruyere cheese and Mushroom Ravioli. The attentive staff ensures an exceptional dining experience, whether it's a power lunch or a candlelit dinner. The restaurant provides secluded tables for those seeking privacy, making it an ideal choice for couples looking for a romantic and intimate dining experience.
Went here on a friend’s recommendation. We took the 3-course $35 per person during the weekend. We had the yoghurt fruit cup, French onion soup, and escargot for the first course. I wish we had bread to use it to sop up the sauce from be escargot. For the second course, we had steak frites, cheeseburger, and croque monsieur. All tasted great with the shoestring fries to match. The crème brulee for dessert should be a must. Although there was an increase in prices for the steak and burger, the cost was still reasonable.

This is not an easy place to review though overall I five rhem 5 stars. Great ambiance, lovely upstairs dining room. Romantic with chandeliers. Service was very good. Prices were not cheap but par for the course. The food howrver was average. Definitely french but nothing spectacular. The escargot where ok but nothing special. Same for the other items. The special was Beef Wellington which is an English dish. It was above average. as was the vichisoise. If you ask for coffee and looking for a classic french press, no good. Only italian expresso american coffee. Bottom line, lovely restaurant that could serve better quality grench food. Go for ambiance of upstairs dining rooms.

We finally gave it a try to their dinner and brunch menu (different dates) and we were amazed on how hospitable and warm this place makes you feel. Special distinction to Samuel Eduardo (bartender and manager) how really raise the standard. Also our server Maria also was great and paid great attention to details during our meal.

It was my first time dining at a French restaurant. I ordered steak and eggs with a pastry basket, while my friend opted for the cheese omelet. The pastry basket was a little on the small side, as I had anticipated, but overall, everything was ok. If you're interested in French cuisine, I recommend giving it a try – you might even hear some French being spoken there!

This is really one of the best French restaurant. We first came 6 years ago and back now; it doesn’t disappoint. The ambience is perfect for a date. My husband brought me for my birthday and we had a great time.

Elnara M — Google review
The food was mostly delicious. The steak frites were not as good as expected, the meat was not soft and needed more taste. But the 3-course meal for $35 is a good deal. The French coffee was not good, but it depends if you like the grand marnier.
Katherine Q — Google review
Part of this rating is me. Ive been to France about 6 times. Maybe a dozen. A lot of drinking was involved in my youthful travels. But French food doesnt do it for me. Fusion of French food, meaning the French colonized and murdered their way thru an existing culture and from there the resiliency of that culture broke thru via food. French fusion is great. Creole, Haitian, Vietnamese all fabulous. This place though is just French. So if youre looking for a nice Fench French restaurant this is it. If you stumble into a French place cause the pizza shop across the street was closed due to a plumbing issue...eh. it's just an okay alternative. Ps - I went home and had some dieri colay and pol; which is creole rice and beans ans chicken. It was amazing. But again, it was Haitian food, not French. 🫣🤔🫡

Unconventional Diner is an industrial-chic bistro and bar located inside the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, offering upscale comfort fare, coffee, beer, wine, and cocktails. Chef David Deshaies puts a creative spin on classic diner entrees like chicken and waffles with habanero butter or Caribbean-style shrimp and grits with Pineapple-Habanero Sauce.
Fantastic experience at the Unconventional Diner! The menu lives up to the name with tons of different cuisines represented in the dishes (very unconventional… I’ve never eaten at a restaurant with this much variety). Everything we had was delicious. I loved the Lebanese fried rice and the meatloaf is the best meatloaf I’ve ever tried. The chicken pot pie poppers were also quite tasty. Our server was very nice and brought out a fun birthday surprise for me (thankfully no singing!). I would absolutely eat here again… highly recommend!

What a great brunch's spot. Love the vibes, gives old fashioned diner with modern twist. Their plates even look like paper plates, but they're ceramic. The service was fabulous. It took a little while to get hot coffee but that is my only negative. We ordered the blueberry lavender pancakes, sexy sandwich, and the loaded biscuits. The pancakes were delicious. My favorite savory option was the sexy sandwich, the sexy sauce is delicious. Will absolutely be back again!

Absolutely Delicious. What should you order: Anything! This place has delicious food across the whole menu. We ended up coming two day in a row as it was that tasty. The loaded breakfast biscuits were crazy flavorful. My wife loved the pancakes, which were top notch. The star of the show was the chocolate cake, which may be the best Chocolate cake I’ve ever eaten. Overall come here hungry and leave super happy!

Unconventional Diner really lived up to the hype. The food was amazing and the staff was super friendly and welcoming throughout the whole visit. I tried the chicken and waffles for the first time and I wouldn’t regret that choice one bit. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and tender, and the sauce tied everything together so well. What really elevated the dish was the butter, it had scallions in it and that extra touch made a big difference. Their fresh orange juice was the perfect drink to go with morning routine. Definitely one of those places you remember and want to come back to. Great food, great vibes, and great people.

This place has been saved as a place to go in Google Maps for years. I decided to go for my birthday brunch so I made a reservation which was a great idea because it was packed on Sunday. We were promptly seated at a table. It took a little while but a waiter came over to get our drinks while we waited on our last guest. The fruit punch was out of the world delicious! I ordered two before the food came. Which brings me to the next point. Due to it being busy a manager took our order and unfortunately for us there was some miscommunication and the order never went to the kitchen or was delivered to the wrong table? Either way we watched as food went to people that arrived after us. Our waiter came over to ask if we wanted dessert and that was when he realized we never received an order. The manager came back over to clear it up, told us our food would be out soon and took the drinks and side dishes off the bill which was a nice touch. Once we got the food it was delicious! I got pancakes (the best I’ve had in a VERY long time). My husband got the loaded breakfast biscuits which were AMAZING and my friend got the shrimp and grits which she liked. Their grits are amazing also. Over all I would go back !

It was a pleasant experience, the atmosphere was nice and welcoming. The host and waiters were super friendly, super nice. The restaurant was tidy and clean, unfortunately there was a dirty glass which they changed with a plastic cup, I'll give them 8/10 on that. Talking about the food: I ordered, ● Chiken & waffles: was below average, came really dry and flavorless, very sad. ● Greek Full dead salad with Salmon: was ok, the Salmon was a little over. ● French dip poutine: was good but really heavy. ● Cajun Srimp & Grits: was dilecious. ● Double cheese Burger & Frise: was ok, could be better. The fries are really good. ● Buttermilk pancakes: was to the dry side, but it was ok. The Srawbarry and Brownie cakes area really dilecious. Food quality was ok, survise was really good though. Thank you Carlos. Would I come back? Yes, I would.

Stop by for brunch after our 5K run. We ordered the Double cheese burger, salmon with bagels, Thai salad with falafel, and Loaded breakfast biscuits. Everything tasted good, but didn’t have the wow factor. The service was avg at best. Our waitress added an extra something which we didn’t ordered, she took it back. Also a 20% automatic service fee was added, which I feel that shouldn’t be the case. Well that’s just my opinion. Check out the pictures for your own opinion.

I found this gem when searching for the best brunch restaurants in DC before my visit. Everything on the menu sounds great, so it was hard to decide. We got the Lebanese Fried Rice with Falafel and the S"Eggs"y Sandwich - both were amazing! I almost didn’t get the fried rice because I was leaning toward breakfast food, but I’m glad I got it! The spices and the yogurt sauce with the veggies in the fried rice were delicious, bursting with flavor! The falafel was perfect - crisp on the outside with a soft and flavorful inside - SO good!! The ambiance is beautiful inside and outside. I highly recommend going for any meal - breakfast, lunch, or dinner!

Iron Gate Restaurant is a chic establishment that offers a blend of Italian and Greek small plates, as well as a tasting menu, in an enhanced courtyard setting. Housed in a historic townhouse with a former stable and carriageway, the cozy dining room features rustic dark wood beams, leather banquettes, and a fireplace. Meanwhile, the trellised garden patio at the back provides a lovely and lively atmosphere that remains heated and open almost year-round.
We came to Iron Gate to celebrate my partner’s birthday, and it was a lovely experience. The indoor dining area is charming and intimate, perfect for a special occasion. We tried several dishes. The standout was the fava bean salad. It’s savory yet refreshing with a well-seasoned dressing. The beans had such a nice texture. We also loved the short rib, flavorful and fall-off-the-bone tender. The presentation looks great too. For dessert, we had the light and refreshing panna cotta, just the right way to end the meal. The restaurant also surprised us with complimentary drinks and cake pops to help us celebrate. Very thoughtful and generous. Service was warm and attentive throughout. So glad we dined here for a memorable birthday celebration.

Great place! My wife and I were there for a Friday night dinner. It was the first time trying Mediterranean food. I just came to the US. Back in my country I used to eat food with spices like indian and Middle Eastern food. I used to think Mediterranean food was not that good but this place completely changed my mind. The food was delicious and the place was very well decorated. The service was also very good we have no complaints. Especially our host Joey was so nice. He was very welcoming and friendly. He described all about the food and also gifted us with some delicious food and drink. If you go there he is the guy you want, trust me. Overall it was a great night will surely go back sometime.

Would I recommend? Yes Super cool interior layout Shout out to our server Joey, who was amazing and made us feel comfortable straight away. Did the market table ($95) with wine pairing (75, 4 pours) Pairings were right up my alley (pun intended). Standouts were the beet ravioli and oyster, Branzino was fresh and light, only thing we didn’t care for was the broccoli dish. Would definitely come back again just for more ravioli!

It was so delicious! The ravioli pasta! The best! Our best part was our host Joey! He was so friendly and kind to us and make us understand everything through the menu! Gave us gift food! It couldn’t even more comfortable than this! Thanks Joey and the whole team to make our Friday night unforgettable!❤️

Everything including the food service and vibe were good. Nothing was amazing/ phenomenal so it’s a 4 not a 5. We couldn’t have the 4 course meal since it’s family stuff but tried the focaccia, crudo, beetroot ravioli, branzino and ribeye followed by the chocolate mousse dessert. The ravioli was probably my favourites and really worth the price. The rest seemed a bit overpriced.

I struggled with the four or five stars. All the five star things first the food was excellently prepared. The presentation was exquisite, and the atmosphere is very quaint and quintessential DC. It was restaurant week. We started with the chilled summer squash, soup, and the tomato and watermelon with feta cheese. My partner has a dairy and there wasn’t supposed to be any feta cheese on their salad. But was. They also dropped off bread with the starters that I just assumed came with starters. The entrée for me was the bread pudding French toast with peaches. It was served warm and was exquisite for my partner they had the eggs cooked in olive oil with potatoes. We finished with the sherbet, which unlike normal sherbet was extraordinary, and also the chocolate food in which was pretty good a little heavy for my taste.. The four Star… slow so slow on getting our dishes we overheard another table had received our starters accidentally - well the bread I thought was included was the other tables but, we got billed for it!?! We will definitely go back and hope their staffing issues - DC political issues (national guard/ ICE immigration) are resolve by then. The food was so good - Tonya the bartender so nice… we forgave the slow service.
Christopher P — Google review
This place has been on my “to visit” list for a few years! The patio space outside is super cute, and the inside decor and vibe are also very cute and cozy. Came here for summer restaurant week and was pretty disappointed. A few dishes on the pre-set menu were unavailable (not too crazy, just a little disappointing considering the menu was already limited for restaurant week), and every single dish came out on a dirty plate. We had a reservation for 1:30, and probably had about 45 minutes to an hour of time between the first appetizer dish being brought out and the second. After receiving the entree, we were quickly given dessert and told that there was “no rush but there is a wedding in an hour”. I’d be willing to come back during a non restaurant week time in hopes that I could explore the whole menu but found it chaotic, messy, and poorly timed when they had an event in the afternoon! Despite all this, the French toast was really delicious and the real star of the show!
Genovi J — Google review
To preface: I visited Iron Gate for brunch during Restaurant Week. Service during my visit was egregiously awful, to put it bluntly. It took a little over 2 hours for us to be served the 3 course meal that they were offering. Communication was practically nonexistent - our waiter stopped by our table once to apologize about the food taking long to come out, but we did not hear much besides that. The poor communication extended to the food. One of the entrees that we ordered was a "caramelized ricotta gnocchi" dish that came with pomodoro sauce, garlic, torn basil, and parmesan cheese. What we were served was a rigatoni pasta that maybe had pomodoro sauce and parmesan cheese as described? But there was not a single "caramelized ricotta gnocchi" on the plate that they gave us. The other entree was two olive oil fried eggs that came with crispy potatoes, salsa verde, and a simple farm greens salad. This one was much closer but they didn't come with potatoes - we had to ask for them and we were given tater tots. Before you call this a simple mistake, I watched them serve this dish to multiple people and none of them came with the potatoes. I understand changes in menus, however omitting parts of meals or straight up changing entire dishes without informing customers is entirely dishonest and a terrible business tactic. Positives? The interior is nice and the rest of the meal was pretty good, even if it took 45 minutes between dishes to get them. I probably won't go back.

Comet Ping Pong is a trendy spot where a young crowd gathers to enjoy pizza, wings, and live music in a cool warehouse setting. The venue has garnered praise from celebrities like Chevy Chase for its combination of thin-crust pizzas and performances by acclaimed indie-punk artists. With the added attraction of ping-pong tables, it's become a popular destination. The posters advertising Comet's live shows are also highly regarded for their design work by local artists.

I've only been there once. So at this point, unwilling to judge entire food menu or atmosphere. But seems that likely to be a 4-star review for both. Their pizza-oven pizza is among the best that I've ever had. They have a small performance area, maybe accommodating about 100 people; appears that performances don't start until 10:00 p.m. I had beer and pizza there around noontime. Nice part of town: Upper Connecticut Avenue.

I had the Chicken Pesto and Spaghetti Squash while friends ordered salad and a pizza. Overall all the foods were delicious. The spaghetti squash could use more seasoning and the grilled chicken was a bit on the bland side. But it was not bad at all. They also have desserts/ice cream from Honey’s next door.

For a place this fun and reasonably priced, I didn’t expect the food to be as good as it was. The menu was just as fun as the restaurant, and everything we ordered was delicious. We had the Mac and cheese bites, lentil salad, garlic knot meatball sliders, wings and spring chick pizza. The lentil salad was unique and tasty. The garlic knot meatball sliders were amazing, were bigger than I expected and such a good idea. The wings had a great flavor and were so tender they practically melt in your mouth. Honestly some of the best wings I’ve ever had. The pizza is true Neapolitan style dough. Robust yet soft with the right amount of char. The flavors of the spring chick were excellent. The quality of the pizza was something I would expect from a fancy white tablecloth Italian Ristorante, a pleasant surprise for a place with ping pong tables. We finished with an Oreo sundae. All in all it ticks every box. The cocktails were tasty, the staff were friendly, the ambiance is lovely. It’s a great place to take the family, meet up with friends, or go on a date.

Good pizza and great atmosphere. Little pricy. In addition, i felt that my pizza had way too much crust relative to cheese. That being said, all was delicious. I recommend getting a green pie with sausage, and the gluten free pizza crust is decently good as well.

New Comet Ping Pong fan here! Great food and vibes. I’m vegetarian and so glad they let me sub potato for the chicken on the Spring Chick pizza. It was amazing!! Someone even asked me what pizza it was on their way out because it looked so good. Yum yum

We hosted a private event at comet ping pong and were extremely satisfied in every way. First off, their decorations are on point. The whole space evokes a classy ping pong clubhouse. Additionally the service and the food were not top notch. We experienced some slight issues getting the pizza out quickly and as an apology our whole party (of 40+) got dessert. We'll be back for sure.
William A — Google review
Although the food is responsibly sourced and of good quality, our group of 10 was not really impressed with the pizzas. Their menu items are interesting, but not well executed. However, they get 4 stars because they have soul....and ping pong tables in the back. We got to play a few games and it makes for a fun, relaxing night. We felt comfortable hanging there for a while after we had finished our food. Good selection of beers too.

Laotian restaurant
Thip Khao Restaurant is a sleek and modern eatery that offers spicy Laotian dishes and classic cocktails with an exotic twist. Chef Seng Luangrath, who fled Laos as a child and learned to cook in a refugee camp in Thailand, brings the heart and soul of Lao food to the restaurant. The cuisine is described as 'spicy funky fermented' with bright, punchy flavors.
A real taste of authentic Laos food restaurant and not just at a family home. Love the pungent and strong earthy flavors as well as the fermented fish. Make sure you can handle the flavor and most definitely handle the heat. I love love love it!

Main dining hall is very loud, felt like I was yelling when I try to speak to my friend across the table. However the food made up for the noise. I enjoy every dish we order, the fried fish is crunching and serve with sweet and sour sauce. Chicken laarb is so good I wanted another serving. Chicken liver skewer was yummy but I wish it was warm when they brought it out. Laos crispy friend was my favorite because it was flavor and season so well I didn’t have to add nothing!! Mango sticky right could have been a little heavier coconut cream cause. Way too runny

Thip Khao was a delightful experience from start to finish. We chose it because it’s part of the Chase Restaurant Collection, and it absolutely lived up to expectations. The service was warm and attentive, the atmosphere casual and relaxing. The food, however, was the true standout. Every dish impressed, each one bursting with flavor and personality. The steamed catfish wrapped in banana leaves stole the show, tender, aromatic, and perfectly seasoned. Eating the fish with sticky rice by hand was a fun, authentic touch that added to the whole experience. If you find yourself in Washington, DC, Thip Khao is well worth a visit.

The noodles were good. I suggest that honestly, stick to the noodle dishes. We order the moak, which was salmon steamed in a banana leaf. However, the fish TASTED fishy. It was lacking in a substantial flavor as well—it was fishy and had dill, but the dill did not permeate the flavor of the dish. My friend who had been here previously had a negative experience with the pork being too fatty as well. The noodles were good, but it tasted similar to Thai food, so I did not feel like I was trying a new cuisine at all. Disappointed, especially for the price point of this restaurant. The sticky rice was a good addition though. The only thing I was excited for in this restaurant is that with almost every dish, there was a multitude of meats available

We had a great meal at Thip Khao! We were a group of 4 and shared some apps, then ordered our own main dishes. We started with piing (chicken skewers), chuenh peek gai (chicken wings) and nahm tok salad. The meat on the skewers and salad were tender and so flavorful. The wings were very crispy and had a really good sauce on it. It also came with sticky rice. For my main dish I ordered the kee mao (drunken noodles) with chicken which was good and a good portion too. For drinks I had their Thai iced tea which was delicious and sweet. Service was great and we were checked on regularly. I made a reservation about 5 days in advance and it looks like they book up quick! It would be tough to grab a same day res so I recommend booking in advance.

Sticky rice, flavorful meats, and curry options! Have always loved their salads and red curry. I recently tried their herbal medicinal drink🫣 strong and delicious! This spot is a must-try, who knows it might just become your favorite date night or pick me up spot!

We loved Thip Khao. Their dishes are very flavorful, unique and they have a lot of vegetarian options. The eggplant salad and their pad sew ew is excellent.

We made reservations & were seated right on time upon arrival. Our server was kind and gave us suggestions on what to order. The food came out hot & delicious! I didn’t take pictures of everything we ordered. Our favorite was the Gaeng Phet (red curry dish), Chuenh Peek Gai (wings) & the sesame sticky rice dessert with coconut ice cream. The beef jerky appetizer was tasty but I would choose the wings over the beef. We can’t wait to come back to try more plates.

The Market Lunch is a bustling counter-serve eatery located in Eastern Market, Capitol Hill. It has been a local institution for over 40 years, drawing crowds with its hearty American breakfasts and satisfying lunch classics like fried chicken sandwiches and hamburgers. The owner, Tommy Glasgow, has deep roots in the market and serves up delicious seafood platters alongside breakfast staples like blueberry pancakes and creamy grits.
I love The Market Lunch! I’ve been coming here since 2016. My go to meal is the pancakes and a side piece of whiting. I use to go multiple times throughout the week and ended up building a rapport with the staff. They’re so sweet! I didn’t go for almost 3 years and upon me returning they still recognized me. The owner is super nice too, he pops in every now and again. I did try something different today, the avocado sandwich. I wasn’t a fan! It was very dry. It was a thin layer of avocado spread, one fried egg, two slices of tomatoes and spinach. I’m sure someone may like it, it’s just not for me. It lacked flavor and I’m glad I ordered the mix drink because I was very parched while eating the sandwich. I won’t get it again. I’ll stick to what I know. Oh, the crab cake is good too!

I was actually excited for the buckwheat blue berry pancakes. Am a big pancake fan, I don’t do cheat meals and usually stick to eating at home. So I do have high standards. These were okay. They were fine. Not bad but I have had better ones. So much better.

Coleslaw -4/5 good solid coleslaw Roll- 4/5

I ❤️ this place! When I have guests visit DC, this is where I take them before a day of sightseeing. This time, I had buck wheat blue berry pancakes. Which sounds simple, but they're exceptional! Buy so is their crab cake Benedict and chicken and waffles. It's hard to go wrong here. Check the blackboard for daily specials. Be warned on weekends, the line can be really long. I suggest going early. They open at 8AM, I think. Also, the only seating is a communal table or the picnic tables outside. Then go walk it off and enjoy the rest of Eastern Market.

What a great experience. The gentlemen in the cashier is great! He is super funny and gives you the best suggestions, so you better listen to him :p We really enjoyed the atmosphere. The food is delicious: the crab cake Benedict it’s amazing... They are famous for the blueberry pancakes (delicious as well). The service is great, very nice staff, convenient location and good prices. FYI: This place is cash only, so be prepared :)

A friend and I were so excited to come here for the pancakes. I had them before, a few months prior, and had been raving about them ever since. We both traveled over half an hour just to get them and were beyond disappointed after waiting in line to be told that they had run out of pancake mix and did not feel like making any more. This was 20 minutes before breakfast ended. After leaving the line dejected, we found out from the people next to us that not only had they successfully ordered pancakes, but they had ordered after us. I was looking forward to going here all week, and this experience has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I’m unsure if I will ever return.

Etto is a charming Italian restaurant located on 14th Street, known for its rustic-chic ambiance and delicious wood-fired pizzas. The cozy space offers a warm atmosphere with the aroma of freshly milled flour from their hand-crank grain mill. Founded by David Rosner, Tad Curtz, Amy Morgan, and Peter Pastan in 2013, Etto has become a local favorite for its diverse menu featuring pizzas, salads, seafood dishes, and salumi.
Great pizzas and appetizers! Patio seating is perfect on a nice spring/summer evening.

Cool Italian Restaurant I discovered on a walk up 14th street. I had the mixed salad and the Sicilian Pizza. The salad was okay tastewise, but was a generous portion. The Sicilian Pizza was very tasty! The crust was great too. It was more than I could finish, but I almost ate the whole things. I now have breakfast tomorrow! The service was also good. The included service charge made this a bit expensive for a meal for one. I get though why they need to do this. Still, its worth visiting here.

Fantastic Neapolitan-style pizza served in a cozy, vibey space with great service! I visited Etto for a casual Friday dinner with a friend, and we had a delightful time. They don't take reservations and are quite popular, so I was a bit worried that we'd be able to snag a table on a Friday; however, we, thankfully, managed to snag their last available table on their patio. The entire restaurant -- inside and out -- is super cozy and has a lovely, welcoming ambiance. The tables are positioned quite close together, so it can feel a little bit tight and loud, but it creates a really fun environment. My friend and I split a Sicilian eggplant pizza and the tuna belly, both of which were phenomenal. The tuna belly was super flavorful and went wonderfully with the hearty starter bread; the celery leaves were a great final touch and pop of freshness to cut through the otherwise fatty, heavy dish. It was also the perfect way to whet our appetite for the pizza. The pizza was fantastic, with a great savory, slightly tart tomato sauce and a generous helping of smoky roasted eggplant. The crust has a great char and is quite thin and almost floppy, but it's to be expected for Neapolitan-style pizza; it just means you have to dig in pretty quickly or it'll start to get a bit soggy. The pizza is finally finished with a sprinkling of fresh basil and diced kalamata olives, which give the dish a good extra hit of freshness and brininess, respectively. Overall, I had a wonderful time at Etto. It's the perfect spot for a casual dinner or happy hour, and I can't wait to visit again!

I wanted to like this place so badly. The food is really good, nice thin crispy pizza from a wood fired oven. Thoughtful Italian style appetizers and salads made with seasonal ingredients. The staff is very bad. They are not interested at all in providing hospitality to the guests and were chatting, drinking, and on their phones the entire time of my visit severely detracting from my experience. Coupled with the fact there was no music whatsoever I couldn’t help but hear their gossip and drama my whole meal which was annoying to say the least. Again, excellent food. Maybe takeout would be a better choice here
Devin R — Google review
Cute spot and nice ambiance! We were a party of 5 and were seated right away once our whole group arrived. We shared 3 seasonal pizzas; the morels, puntarelle, and vongole. Nothing stood out as amazing, but the morels pizza was my favorite. We asked that our pizzas be cooked a little more crispy which helped. I also ordered the goodbye earl cocktail which was strong but balanced well with the lemon and grapefruit. For dessert we shared the affogato and chocolate custard. Chocolate custard was really good and I loved the whipped cream on top!
Anushka M — Google review
A really chill place and relaxing atmosphere. Lots of natural lighting. The servers were friendly and attentive. The food is fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend Etto if you're in the area and looking for a quick bite. Sorry I didn't take more photos, but trust me, it's good eats here!

Went by during the dinner rush right before seeing a show at Studio Theatre. Great spot for great pizza and wine! I sat at the bar and ordered the Braised Fennel + Rosemary Pizza, the Affogato (Espresso with a small scoop of ice cream in it), and a glass of the featured wine (Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo). All of it was delicious! The pizza was layered perfectly and paired well with the wine. A soft, doughy crust with red onions and parsley and garlic and, oh... give it a try if you go. The Affogato was delicious, but as soon as I saw it on the menu and how small the cup was, I told the bartender (who was super friendly), "this sounds really dangerous!". No doubt you shouldn't have it regularly, as it's an espresso with an added shot of vanilla ice cream. Good for your health? Not likely. Good for your taste buds and sweet tooth? M. Hm. Other than the food being excellent, the staff was all friendly. It was pretty packed when I went, both inside and out, so if you don't like lots of people, maybe opt for take-out (the restaurant typically opens around 5pm). Given its location and the quality of the food, it's not a surprise it's a hit. Wine was $16. Pizza was $21. Affogato was $6. Be prepared to splurge a little bit, but it's DC and the food is worth it. Also important to note that a 20% service charge was automatically included. Overall, 5/5 stars from me. Chef's kiss 😘👌🍕🍷☕️🍦

I love the pizza here! Although the chanterelle pizza did not have enough mushroom flavor tonight. But the crust was perfect! I also love the veggie side dishes. The cauliflower was divine. I usually order several sides and a pizza and feel perfectly satisfied. So amazing to have this stunning pizza joint in our neighborhood. Update: the anchovies with green sauce and soft egg is deeeeelish!

Chopt Creative Salad Co. is a popular counter-serve chain that allows guests to customize their own salads or wraps from a wide selection of ingredients. Originating in Manhattan, this salad joint has gained widespread popularity for its emphasis on creativity and diverse international flavors. Each month, the company features three special "destination" salads inspired by different locations. The menu offers a variety of bases including warm rice/grains, cauliflower rice, and cold greens like kale and romaine lettuce.
If you’re looking for fresh, delicious, and healthy options, this is the spot! The establishment specializes in salads and wraps, and they truly deliver on both quality and flavor. The ingredients are always fresh, and you can tell they prioritize offering a variety of healthy choices. What really stood out to me, beyond the food, was the cleanliness of the place. It’s clear they take hygiene seriously, which is always reassuring when dining out. Additionally, the staff is incredibly attentive—friendly, prompt, and always ready to assist with any questions or special requests. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or dining in, this establishment offers a pleasant experience from start to finish. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a clean, well-run spot with great food and excellent service!

Chopt at Metro Center is a solid go-to for a fresh, made-to-order salad, bowls and wraps, especially if you’re looking for something quick and healthy near downtown. It’s right by the Metro and the Marriott, so it’s super convenient whether you’re commuting, working nearby, or visiting. The staff here is always friendly, and the salads, bowls or wraps are consistently fresh and made fast, which I appreciate when I’m on the go. I usually customize a salad or a bowl with greens, grilled chicken, and add one of Chopt’s bold dressings and you can’t go wrong. It’s great to have a healthier option like this right in the heart of the city.

Bryan was amazing. This was the first time me ever visiting this establishment and I was so confused on what would be the best meal. I almost left the restaurant because I am not eating meat and most of the wraps that actually looked appetizing had meat options. Bryan reassured me that they’d be able to make me something custom and offered me a suggestion that he eats often. His level of professionalism, attentiveness, and willingness to help me find a solution was what kept me at the restaurant. I value great customer service and the level of service Bryan’s gave was perfection. All while being kind, down to earth, and super friendly—it felt super authentic. I also LOVED my wrap that he created. If he isn’t a manager he sure needs to be! Also, this is the type of talent you raise up figuratively & financially. I’m so appreciative! Best!

Walking into Chopt Salad, I was immediately welcomed with genuine smiles and a warm greeting from the staff. The atmosphere felt inviting, and I could tell right away that customer service was a priority here. As I placed my order, the staff took the time to explain the menu options, answer my questions, and even make thoughtful suggestions to help me customize my salad exactly the way I wanted. Their energy was positive, patient, and professional, which made the ordering process easy and enjoyable. When I received my food, it was fresh, colorful, and perfectly prepared. Each bite had a crispness that showed the quality of the ingredients, and the flavor combinations were spot on. The balance of freshness and bold taste reminded me why Chopt is such a standout choice for a healthy meal. Overall, the experience wasn’t just about the food—it was about how the staff made me feel valued as a customer. From start to finish, they created an environment where great service and great food came together. Chopt Salad turned a simple meal into an experience worth returning for.

Little Sesame is a new Downtown quick-service restaurant specializing in seasonal hummus bowls and pita sandwiches. The venue offers dairy-free vanilla tahini soft-serve ice cream for an additional $15 ($25 when adding in the hot pressed pitas).
Ordered delivery from this restaurant today. I’ve been wanting to try there dishes after buying their hummus from Whole Foods (I recommend all three of their flavors). The online ordering was simple and easy. About 30-45mins later, my lunch meal approached. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Bowl and a side of Cucumber Salad. Everything was packed well and still warm. I immediately dig in. It was all really tasty. Can’t wait to head in-store next time when I get the opportunity

Folks with allergies and dietary restrictions beware: a piece of conventional chicken showed up in my vegan pita. It was a completely different size, taste, and texture than the breaded Meati vegan cutlets (also in the sandwich). I hadn’t eaten chicken for nearly two decades until today. 😞

Different than all the fast casual med places but still wasn’t anything special. We had the cauliflower hummus bowl which didn’t have enough bread for the amount of spread. The hummus completely took over the taste of the cauliflower. The braised cabbage pita was good but also overflowed and made the bread soggy. I think in this case less hummus would have been better to get a better taste of the delicious cabbage. We had these pickles. Those were terrible.

We had been wanting to try Little Sesame since we saw it featured in the Washington Post’s “25 best casual restaurants in the D.C. area” this past June. Beautiful, beautiful decor inside. Loved the tile work and the functionality of everything. Seating was a bit difficult as we arrived towards the end of the lunch rush. It’s a fast casual spot that focuses on hummus bowls, pita sandwiches, seasonal salatim, and mezze. Our group of three all opted for bowls over sandwiches and it came in right around the ~$10-11 mark pre-tax. The menu is definitely pretty seasonal so most of what we ordered is no longer included in the winter offerings. One bowl was the chicken shawarma, one featured beets, and the third (I believe) was zucchini. Regardless, all three came served over a bed of outrageously smooth, creamy hummus. Best hummus I’ve had in DC and just might be the best I’ve had outside of Israel. Each main also comes with a delicious, warm pita. We additionally ordered a seasonal fattoush salad and the dairy free, vanilla tahini soft serve for dessert. Unfortunately both were forgettable, fattoush was overly soggy and the ice cream pretty flavorless. Would love to give LS a 4.5 but it’s at a 4 right now with the caveats being that if you love hummus, it’s your spot and if you’re particularly sensitive to veggie, vegan, or dairy free lunch options it seems like a fantastic alternative to other fast casual spots in the city.

Founded by three friends in the DC metro area, CAVA allows customers to create their own delicious bowl starting with a base, adding dips and spreads, choosing a protein like braised beef or lamb, and finishing with toppings such as crumbled feta and pita crisps.
Visited here twice during a short visit because it was so good the first time. It’s amazing how customisable it is and it can even be a bit overwhelming. The shoug sauce is so good! My favourite thing there. The rice and chicken are also favourites. I think it was tricky to get the portions right, I only got a teaspoon of some of them but I think if I had said something they might have given extra. It’s a popular place so there’s probably a line most lunchtimes!

They cooked it perfectly, which is apparently rare for restaurants in DC to do these days. The sauce was heavenly. I can’t say enough good things about the whole dish. It just melts in your mouth and you taste the high quality sourcing of the meat which I’m highly particular in. It’s rare for me to actually enjoy most steaks I eat out, so when I say it’s top, it means something. And the lobster salad was so good I was blown away. I’m addicted to that dressing and need to try and replicate it at home. I only wish I had more room to try more. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Lovely French restaurant in Georgetown with a modern and elevated ambiance. Gives you that Parisan vibe. Let's get to the food, onion soup was different, very sweet, not savery like others, it was a bit overly sweet for me and had a bit much cheese compared to the soup. Fois grois was okay, typical fois grois. Had the Branzino for entree, fish could have been more moist and it was also covered with a lot of sauce that took away from the flavor of the fish plus the skin was slightly soggy instead of crispy. The lamb skewer was my favorite, great flavors, only thing it was served with cold sides (on purpose) and it didn't really pair well. Getting to desserts, tried the Peach and the Pavlova. Big portions for both, can definitely split one with another person. They were good but it had way too much whipped cream incorporated in the dessert, but at the same time it was the best whipped cream I've had so there's that. Overall it's a nice place I'd consider going back to for the vibe.

Some restaurants are worth the price, this sadly was not one of them. Gorgeous modern decor and subdued ambience could not offset the well intentioned but inconsistent menu and service. We had the following items: Artichokes Montesquieu (seared foie gras, summer truffle) - excellent start to the meal, presented as a salad, with each unique ingredient complementing one another well. Maryland Crab Tartare (creamy fresh avocado with fresh basil, chives, and cucumber gazpacho) - another strong starter dish, extremely well fresh with generous slices of fresh avocado beautifully presented against a bed of delicate crab tartar. Solid flavor. La Soupe à l’Onion - this is where it started to go downhill a bit. The bourbon added to enhance this dish did not have the desired effect. We found the soup to be overly sweet, lacking the savory punch that marks a great French onion soup. Disappointment for sure, would not recommend this item. Le Foie Gras (cooked in terrine with cognac, griottines cherries, toasted brioche) - this was also underwhelming. These different ingredients did not come together well at all, and the terine itself fell a bit flat in terms of flavor. Duck Breast (seared magret, red cabbage, duck demi-glace with cloves, caramelized gala apples) - I enjoyed the duck breast itself a bit more than my friend, they were very tender rare cuts, but agreed it could have a bit more flavor. The side items were unremarkable. Le Filet Mignon Rossini (beef fillet center cut, foie gras and summer truffle, herbs smashed potatoes) - excellent cut of filet mignon, seared to near perfection. The accompanying sauce enhanced the flavor quite well. Again, the side items were unremarkable. Authentic Crème Brûlée - we shared this for dessert, and as far as creme brulee's go, it was solid but not particularly memorable. The custard could have been both richer and sweeter. Their custom cocktail menu has some creative items. The one is sampled was the Ask the Colonel (Rye, Calvados, green Chartreuse, lime oil, bay leaf, mint, foam, Angostura bitters) and it was a refreshing, if slightly sweet summer cocktail. Our server was very good overall, friendly, knowledgeable and fairly attentive. There were just some lapses with providing items like shared plates and a simple condiment that disrupted the pacing of the meal, even though we had telegraphed ahead that we planned to share the items. Ultimately, I would not recommend L'Avant-Garde from a price to value perspective, though it was hardly a negative experience, solidly positive but just not positive enough.

The service and food were superior. It's a beautiful setting with amazing food. We enjoyed the prix fixe menu which highlighted lobster, and the flavors were unbelievably delicious. I cannot recommend L'Avant-Garde enough!

I’ve been there twice and tried several dishes, each one was really good and full of flavor. I also love the quiet and romantic atmosphere; it makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. Definitely a place worth revisiting.

Unreal experience. Chef Sebastian is in a league of his own. Some standouts weee the foie gras, lobster entree, truffle Brie, and baguette with butter (the last was simple yet perfect). But truly every dish we tried was outstanding. For cocktails, we had the last word & tequila bouquet, all great. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough! Will definitely visit again, either for date night, special occasion, or just for a happening dinner spot. Also, the atmosphere is very fun, intimidate, and swanky. I will definitely be back!

Celebrated my husbands birthday. Everything was great. The fireplace was really cozy. Food was amazing. Best truffle risotto that I ever had. The lobster appetizer was so full of flavor. The fish, scallops and the beef were superior. Drinks were on point and paired well with the food. The souffle was so light and tasty. The entire French meal was amazing! Will definitly go back soon.

Went for my anniversary for dinner at 6:30. Seated immediately, but then waited 15 minutes before a waiter came and asked “have you been helped?” They were out of the drink I ordered (house old fashioned). Out of the appetizer (oysters), although they did comp the three oysters they had remaining. I ordered the duck breast, and it was served cold. Luckily my spouse got the branzino and it was warm. Unfortunate to have spent so much for a sub-par meal and poor service.

If you're on the hunt for a modern pizza experience, look no further than &pizza. This innovative pizzeria chain has taken Washington, D.C., by storm with its gourmet pies that allow you to customize every aspect of your meal. With an impressive selection of sauces and toppings—think roasted garlic puree, mushroom truffle, and 39-day aged pepperoni—you can create a unique masterpiece tailored to your taste buds.
Cute little place. $7 lunch special is legit. Bigger pizza is $12+tax ish.

I work in the restaurant industry, and there's an unwritten rule that we do no harm to others in the industry. My delivery vehicle was parked at &Pizza, at the very end of the lot, and I was delivering food products to the restaurant next door. &Pizza had my car towed. I was not obstructing traffic in any way. My caution lights were active, my hand truck was clearly positioned next to the vehicle, and my hatchback was open. I had to pay $185 because of the unnecessary, harmful actions taken by the management of this &Pizza.

Parked in a spot for Trek bicycles thinking I was totally fine but not even 10 min to get my food and my car was towed. No signage that I could see saying I would be towed for that. Absolute scam business, never eating at this location again.

Karen and Nae were so kind and helpful, thanks so much!! I love &pizza and this location is no different. Service was fast, polite, and easy. Will definitely come back! ☺️

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!!!! TOWING!!!!!!! The &pizza manager tells A-1 towing if certain cars are customers or not resulting in many cars being towed. The parking spots are marked some people don’t notice and come back looking for their cars. It’s 200 bucks to get your car back and they drive by every 20-30 minutes looking for the next victim. A1 towing also will damage your car. If &pizza ignored the tow truck driver they wouldn’t be able to tow cars but instead they help him. STOP going HERE till they fix the towing issue. Wouldn’t be surprised if the manager is taking money under the table in exchange for each car.
Joe D — Google review
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The pizza tasted like cardboard with ketchup smeared on top, the cheese had the texture of rubber bands, and the crust could double as a spare tire. The service was equally impressive: our server vanished like a magician after dropping off the wrong order, and when we finally flagged someone down, they acted like we were inconveniencing them. The soda was flat, the salad was wilted, and the atmosphere felt like eating in a storage closet. Honestly, I wouldn’t feed this to my worst enemy. Save yourself the money and just microwave a frozen pizza, it’ll be gourmet compared to this.

I rarely leave reviews, but this visit to &pizza was so awful it deserves to be called out. While visiting Arlington, I stopped in at &pizza. First, the food was terrible. The pizza was soggy, flavorless, and thrown together like no one cared. The toppings were uneven, the crust was limp, and it honestly tasted like it had been sitting out. For a place that markets “custom pizza,” the quality was embarrassing. The service was even worse. The staff looked annoyed to be there, acted like customers were an inconvenience, and moved at a painfully slow pace. No greeting, no effort, zero hospitality. When I asked a simple question about the menu, I got an eye roll and a rude response. Completely unprofessional. To make things even more infuriating, my car was towed while I was inside, and there were no clear signs about parking. When I told the staff, they showed no empathy and offered no help at all - just shrugged and basically said “not our problem.” Between the disgusting food, awful service, and getting towed, this was an absolute disaster from start to finish. I will never return, and I strongly suggest others avoid this place.
Chrissy G — Google review
Ate here on [9/18]. Food was greasy/stale and had me running to the restroom. While I was in the restroom, my car was towed from their lot. Staff on duty told me the manager regularly calls the tow truck and gets a cut (~40% of the $135 fee). If that’s accurate, it’s predatory and looks like a kickback scheme targeting customers. Tow fee: $135. Meal: $[14]. This place managed to make me sick and make me pay to get my own car back while I was still on-site. I’m reporting this to corporate/HQ and the property owner, and escalating to consumer protection. Until they fix the food and stop the towing games, spend your money elsewhere.

Italian restaurant
Caruso's Grocery is a Little Italy-inspired dining room located at Pike & Rose, offering a tempting array of Italian-American dishes reminiscent of classic red sauce joints in Brooklyn or The Bronx. The restaurant boasts an inviting ambiance with decor that transports diners to an old Italian-American spot.
Found on Tik Tok and didn’t disappoint. Pedro was my server and was very knowledgeable about the menu. He knew a lot about the wines and their pairings, and made sure I had a great experience. Jordan, who wasn’t my server, still took the time to check in and chat with me — bringing a really welcoming warmth to the experience. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves a good pasta!

Some how I found this gem and I must say from beginning to end it was worth every penny! It's a small place but perfectly sized. It fills up quick so RESERVE a table if not you will be waiting! The bread was really good, calamari has became one of the best I've had. Very well seasoned batter, the lemon chicken was flavorful and fulfilling. The chicken parm was equally tasty! The atmosphere was very intimate, low lighting, filled with people conversations and silverware chattering from everyone enjoying their food! Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable regarding the menu. When I'm in the area I'll seek this place out. You should too!!

What a truly delicious dinner in North Bethesda! The Trout Piccata was perfectly cooked—juicy, flavorful, and wonderfully healthy with the vegetables. The Shrimp Scampi Pasta was incredibly tasty, truly 'molto buono'! But the absolute standout was the Brooklyn style cheesecake. The atmosphere was lovely, and the service incredibly friendly. I definitely want to visit this heart of Italian cuisine again!"

The interior vibe at Caruso’s screams Italian-American restaurant, and the food delivers. The service was outstanding. For an appetizer, we struggled between the burrata and the meatballs. We ordered the burrata, and they added the meatballs at no charge. Both were very good. The meatballs are bite-sized and perfect for sharing. We had the chicken parm (not pictured), the gnocchi alla genovese, and the spicy Neapolitan ragu with bucatini and whipped ricotta. You can sub vodka sauce on the chicken parm, which we did. I ordered the ragu extra spicy-it was good but probably wouldn’t do it again. Classic dishes done right with no mistakes in execution. Dessert was a crème brûlée with a subtle blood orange infusion that was quite good, followed by a round of limoncello on the house for a digestif. Followed by a walk! For drinks, we had the Mediterranean Margarita and the Godfather Manhattan. The girls like the margs. I thought the Manhattan was average. We had a bottle of the San Salvatore aglianico with our entrees and it was lovely. Overall, quite good. On a scale of 1-10: Food was a delicious 8.5+, atmosphere was a 10, and service was 12. We will definitely be back!

Visiting from Boston and was excited to try Carusos. It exceeded my expectations! It is a traditional Red Sauce Italian restaurant with familiar dishes but chef quality! The quality of the service parallels the food. The staff was very friendly, offered great suggestions, was knowledgeable about the wine selection, and kept the waters filled. The staff running and busing were also very friendly as well. If I lived in this area I'd definitely be a regular.

Wonderful dining experience — we sat at the bar with no reservations and were greeted very nicely and seated very promptly on a Friday. Food was amazing, although the portion was a bit smaller than I expected, and the drinks were very good. Our bartenders were extremely accommodating and prompt, and Von and Sulma made the experience even better! Would recommend them to anyone.

Great restaurant!! Been trying to go here for years. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed. Just an observation: If you have more than two people, you may want to make a reservation. They do walk-ins, but the bar area is pretty small if you try and chance it, and the restaurant is usually pretty booked. They do try their best to accommodate though.

Prost DC is a cozy spot that serves up traditional German dishes like spaetzle, bratwurst, and schnitzel alongside a selection of draft beers. Visitors have praised the restaurant for its authentic German food, with some noting that it closely resembles the real deal. The outdoor seating area is dog-friendly and heated, although street noise can be a downside.
The server was so friendly and handled a huge room of people very well. She was hustling and smiling the whole time! We got the chicken schnitze, deutch baby, and abo toast and everything was great!

The wait staff was very fast and friendly here. Got the Käsespäetzle which is a cheesy noodle dish and it was excellent. My husband got the wurst platter which was good as well. The portions were a little small for the price. Or you could also say that they were overpriced for the amount that was served. They have trivia on Tuesdays at 7pm which is via Greeks Who Drink Trivia. They are my favorite trivia company but I was a little disappointed by their two categories which focused on pride month. It was very politicized. However, I’m not holding that against the Prost since it’s on the trivia company. Their beer was good. Overall, it’s a unique place with authentic German food. A little pricey though but I would still recommend it.

Was looking for a great German restaurant while visiting DC on business and found it. The only negative thing I could say is that the German potato salad could have had a bit more flavor but otherwise the brats and kraut were really good. And the German beer selection was excellent. I got the Oktoberfest. Definitely would eat here again. Bartender Daniel was the man! Prost!

District Taco is a local chain that started as a food truck and now has brick-and-mortar locations. It offers Yucatán-style tacos and burritos with customizable options. The restaurant goes beyond the typical taqueria, providing an affordable yet delicious Mexican lunch experience in Washington, D.C. The menu includes burritos, huevos rancheros, and more made with fresh ingredients. Customers can choose from various topping options such as the Mexican Way, American Way, or Jefe Way.
Outstanding tacos and even better service! I stopped by District Taco at Metro Center and had an awesome experience. The tacos were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned — you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. What made it even better was the exceptional service from Heidi. She was friendly, attentive, and made me feel genuinely welcome. It’s rare to find someone who brings such great energy and care to their work, she truly went above and beyond! Highly recommend this location if you’re in downtown DC, great food, great vibes, and top-notch service. Thanks again, Heidi! 🌮🙌

Food tasted fine... But it was kind of tough to get unstuck from the paper... Also, very greasy on the hands. Order from a kiosk, not from a person. Waited a good ten minutes though nobody else was there in person and it didn't appear they were busy with pickup orders. Chips were store-bought corn chips, it seemed? Cheese sauce was tasty as was the salsa. It was a DC 6 or 7 but a Hillsboro, Oregon 4, if you know what I mean. If you're in DC it might be worth a try.

Suuuuper small dining area and majority of people there were getting their food to go. All chairs were taken and the wait time on the food was atrocious. Buuut the ladies cooking behind the kitchen gave us tortilla chips and did apologize. That said, the burrito I got was fantastic, I really enjoyed it including the fact that you can build your own. I would not recommend this place for dine in but for take out yes.

I just wanted to share what an amazing experience I had at your 1309 F Street, NWDC location! The customer service from Carlos Moreno and his team was absolutely top tier. I was feeding a group of 20 teenage boys visiting from the United Kingdom and stopped by beforehand to get some guidance on what to order. Carlos couldn’t have been more helpful — he walked me through all the options, made great suggestions, and even gave me his number in case I needed anything else. When I arrived to pick up the order, everything was perfectly on time. Carlos even offered to carry the food out to my car — and though I happened to find a spot right out front, he brought it out anyway with a big smile. And the food? A huge hit! The boys told me they don’t have barbacoa in the UK and said it was absolutely delicious. Please pass along my thanks to Carlos and his amazing team — they went above and beyond, and it made such a difference. I’ll definitely be ordering again!

This place is fast, clean and affordable. The fish tacos were a mess and I take that as a sign of good food. The Queso dip is also delicious.

This is based on my online orders. I got their breakfast tacos, the 3 customizable tacos, and a bowl in two separate instances. Both times, it was the most fulfilling lunch I’ve had in a long time. They absolutely LOADED the tacos, like there was so much I had to eat the toppings that dropped out with a spoon, which I absolutely love. The tortillas were nice and soft, the proteins excellently seasoned. The bowl was great, but I do wish it came with a little more rice. Every time I’ve went in, my orders were ready for me. Definitely a repeat lunch spot for me.

Restaurant
The Bazaar by José Andrés in Washington D.C. is a grand and opulent restaurant located in the historic Old Post Office Building, occupying a corner of the Waldorf Astoria's atrium lobby. The decor features marble, velvet, and Salvador Dali-inspired floral fabrics. Additionally, Pepe, a food truck by José Andrés, offers delicious Spanish flauta-style sandwiches on freshly baked ciabatta bread.
Went here last November for a birthday celebration and it was amazing. I got a full corse meal from apps, main course, and dessert. The food was amazing and super unique. I got a squid ink pasta and I’ve never had anything like that before. The waiter was super friendly and very funny. Even though this is a high end restaurant, the waiter didn’t try to push everything expensive on us which was cool. I’d definitely come back here on special occasions.

I dined at The Bazaar to celebrate a special occasion and thoroughly enjoyed the food. There was plenty of it, with great variety, with accommodations for my gluten intolerance. Some of the initial portions were small, and it built up nicely to mains of sorts including steak, brussels sprouts, octopus and potatoes. All delicious! The drinks were decent and promptly served. Service was attentive but inconsistent in quality. While not a Michelin star restaurant yet, it is still similarly priced/ is very high end, so I was surprised to see the service staff being inconsistent with which side they pour water from, and clear plates from. They were also a tad casual with how they placed new silverware after each course, almost throwing it towards us instead of carefully placing it correctly. The waiters are also not trained on how to correctly maintain a polite physical from seated guests. Small things, but the devil is in the detail! Food was great, and innovative. I enjoyed it, despite the overuse of foam :)

THE BAZAAR, located within the luxurious Waldorf Astoria D.C., offers a truly phenomenal dining experience. This was our second time visiting, and it was just as impressive as the first. The atmosphere is absolutely phenomenal. The restaurant's setting within such a prestigious hotel creates a sophisticated and beautiful ambiance that makes every visit feel special. We were fortunate to visit during Restaurant Week, and we were incredibly impressed by how generous they were with the discount menu. The offer was a fantastic value, and the option to upgrade to the crab meat paella-like pasta for just $25 more was an unbelievable deal. The dish itself was delicious and amazing, a perfect example of the high quality of food they serve. It was truly one of the best deals we have ever gotten. We enjoyed each dishes and impressed again! The food and service were both amazing. The staff was attentive and went above and beyond to make our evening memorable. They even provided a surprise for our anniversary, which made our celebration feel incredibly special and personal. THE BAZAAR is more than just a restaurant; it's a destination for a remarkable culinary experience. We are already looking forward to our next visit and will always come back to this wonderful place!

We came here as a family to celebrate the New Year and chose The Bazaar by José Andrés after finding it online. This restaurant is part of the José Andrés group and focuses on creative Spanish-style shared plates and tapas. The restaurant is located inside the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Washington, DC. The setting itself is in the lobby area, so it’s more of an open concept rather than a private, intimate space. For that reason, I would say the ambiance was decent, but not as cozy or exclusive as some other fine dining spots. That said, the service was excellent—definitely on par with a high-end restaurant or a five-star hotel. The staff paid great attention to detail, were very attentive throughout the meal, and served the dishes one at a time with care. The food was the highlight. We ordered many different tapas and small plates from the menu, and every dish was unique, creative, and beautifully presented. It’s definitely a place to explore and try a variety of flavors rather than just stick to one main dish. For pricing, it really depends on how much you order. For us, it came to about $150 per person, which felt fair for the quality and creativity we experienced. While this restaurant does not currently hold a Michelin star, the food and concept are special enough that it’s worth trying if you’re in DC. One thing to note: parking is expensive. Since the restaurant is in downtown DC, we used the hotel’s valet service, and it cost us about $60 for two hours. Something to plan ahead for if you’re driving. Overall, a memorable spot for a celebration, with standout service and inventive cuisine. Highly recommend if you enjoy creative tapas and want to experience something different in the city.

During our anniversary trip a little while back, we dined at The Bazaar by José Andrés inside the Waldorf Astoria D.C., and it was a truly memorable highlight of our celebration. Even though our actual anniversary had passed a few days earlier, the staff went out of their way to make us feel special. When they asked if we were celebrating anything and we casually mentioned our anniversary had already come and gone, they still surprised us with a beautiful anniversary dessert. That thoughtful gesture really stood out and made the evening feel really special. The food was absolutely outstanding. We ordered several tapas to sample a variety of flavors, and everything was beautifully presented and delicious. The most memorable dish for me was the little Japanese melons—so delicate and refreshing, they could have easily doubled as dessert. Our waiter was professional and attentive, and the ambiance was stunning. Our table overlooked the grand courtyard of the Waldorf Astoria, adding a sense of elegance and occasion to the entire experience. Highly recommend The Bazaar for anyone looking to celebrate something special—or simply indulge in an extraordinary dining experience.

Wow, where can I even begin? Not only was this one of the very best meal we had ever had after enjoying high end restaurants around the globe, but the service was without doubt the best we had received. Our server, Kitty, was absolutely wonderful. Every recommendation he gave us was beyond flawless. He was super funny and friendly and attentive and really made the experience special. Thank you so much Kitty, you are without doubt the best server I have ever been lucky enough to encounter in my life. As for the food, wow! We went a-la-carte and tried a lot of different options from the menu and we loved every single thing we tried. Every bite was mesmerizing, every single item cooked to absolute perfection. We weren't served food and drinks - We were served edible art, and our palates were graced with a masterpiece. I can't wait to return again in the future.

Our server was accommodating. This place has decent Spanish wine selection and Somm knows about their stuff. Cocktails are all premade and very underwhelming. Foods are ok at the best. The café is known for its gorgeous ambiance, locally sourced food, and unique space. It has received high praise for its brunch and sophisticated decor, making it an ideal spot for an intimate dinner. The menu features French, American, and European cuisine with standout dishes like perfectly executed halibut and a caviar and potato chips appetizer.
We take a breakfast in this Michelin-starred café Riggs in Washington for breakfast, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and very professional. From the moment we walked in, we felt well taken care of. The atmosphere is elegant yet cozy, making it a great spot to start the day. While the prices are definitely on the higher end, the presentation and ambiance help justify the cost to some extent. The food was excellent—seafood, caviar, champagne—all fresh and delicious. It really felt like a five-star experience… almost. The only real letdown was how the food came out. We ordered a seafood tower, caviar, a few breakfast items, croissants, sausages (both pork and chicken), and a strip steak. But after nearly two hours at the table, the croissants, sausages, and steak still hadn’t arrived. No updates, no check-ins—just silence. When we finally said we had to go, they rushed to the kitchen, made everything quickly, and packed it to-go. They explained they were waiting for us to finish eating before bringing the rest out, but honestly, that felt like an excuse. Especially when you look at the receipt—it’s clear those items (like the croissant and sausages) were part of our main order, not something we added later. Croissants and sausage are basic brunch starters—they should’ve come out early, especially with the caviar. And if there was going to be a delay, they could’ve at least checked in or offered to remove them from the bill. We spent over $1,000 on brunch (with tax and tip), so we expected a bit more care in the details. So yes—the place is beautiful, the food is great, and the service is friendly. But a mistake like that—especially at this level—left a bit of disappointment at the end. That’s why, instead of five stars, I’m giving three.

Everything about this place is amazing. The high ceilings, the architecture, the lighting, the comfy lounge seating area, the sound and the service and oh my goodness the dessert. This tart was spectacular it is the only thing we ordered because we had already had dinner elsewhere but we plan to come back as the menu looks fantastic.

Had an absolutely wonderful time at Cafe Riggs today. When you walk in, the atmosphere is the first thing you recognize, as it’s stunning. When you sit down, the service is phenomenal. I saw 4 servers, with my main server as Jasmine, and they were all knowledgeable, delightful, and warm. I got the bottomless mimosa cart, avocado toast, and lobster mac. The portions reflected the price, and all tasted great! I now have lunch tomorrow, and am very happy with what I ordered. Cannot wait to bring friends here, and I’m so glad I stopped by!

Beautiful decor with historical charm-Café Riggs has to be the best hotel bar in downtown DC. If you want delicious cocktails crafted for a sophisticated palate, this the place to go to. The servers and bartenders are always friendly and attentive. For brunch, I recommend their champagne cart or bottomless martinis and crème brûlée for dessert.

If you’re in D.C., this café is a must. The interior is dreamy — golden tones, velvet seating, vintage mirrors, and natural light pouring in. I had brunch here and the vibe was effortlessly chic. The coffee was top-notch, and the menu felt elevated without being overwhelming. Try their pastries — they’re flaky perfection. Service was warm and attentive, and I truly appreciated the peaceful energy. 📍The kind of place you want to linger a little longer — whether you’re meeting a friend or just treating yourself.

As a guest staying at The Riggs Hotel, Café Riggs was an absolute lifesaver and a highlight of my stay. If you're looking for a convenient, delicious, and genuinely friendly spot for both breakfast and dinner without ever having to leave the building, look no further. Unbeatable Convenience & Healthy Start: Mornings can be hectic, but the breakfast here made everything easy. I was able to grab a truly healthy and flavorful option—like their fantastic avocado toast or a hearty yogurt parfait with fresh fruit and granola—and get on with my day. It was the perfect alternative to a rushed, sugary pastry and felt like a proper, nourishing start. The coffee was excellent and kept me going for hours. Unexpectedly Great Dinners: I ended up having dinner here on a night I was just too tired to venture out, and I'm so glad I did. The dinner menu is surprisingly robust! The dishes we tried were flavorful and felt thoughtfully prepared, far beyond standard "hotel food." It was clear that care goes into the ingredients and presentation. The Best Part: The Staff: The team at Café Riggs is wonderful. Everyone, from the morning baristas to the evening servers, was incredibly friendly and attentive. They remembered my name after the first visit and always had a genuine smile. It made the experience feel personal and warm, like a neighborhood spot you’ve been going to for years. Incredible Value: For the quality of the food and the level of service, the prices are honestly unbeatable, especially for a hotel restaurant. You get fantastic value for your money. Final Verdict: Café Riggs isn't just a hotel café; it's a real asset to The Riggs Hotel experience. It delivers on all fronts: delicious food, a healthy and convenient menu, kind service, and great prices. I highly recommend it to any guest and will definitely be enjoying meals here on my next stay.

What a beautiful building that is home to Riggs Cafe & Hotel! Has been a favorite for many years, but recent visit (July 2025) left me a bit at a 3 star. It took a very very very long time to get food for 4 people on a Tuesday afternoon! And it wasn’t busy at all! The service was polite, but extremely slow - we had to ask for water 3 times… and when we did get the food, nobody checked on us and it was overcooked (oily); Brussels weren’t crispy and some hot items were room temperature. I was used to excellent level of good and services here, but may not consider going back as the 1st on my mind when visiting DC again.

Malaysian restaurant
Restaurant
Makan is a Malaysian restaurant in Columbia Heights that offers a unique dining experience. The chef, James Wozniuk, draws inspiration from his travels to Malaysia and presents dishes like nasi lemak and pineapple curry. The menu reflects the fusion of Indian and Chinese flavors with options such as curry noodle soup and fried chicken with a Malaysian twist. Guests can also enjoy outdoor seating while savoring dishes like chicken satay with peanut sauce and pickled sides.
Wow...what a gem?! I love this tucked away quaint location. I almost walked right past it, but so glad I did not. The food and drinks were delicious (including dessert). Also very fresh. The service was impeccable. Felt like family. I enjoyed the music and lighting, great set up for a good meal and a great conversation. Can't wait to visit again.

We came here for the first time last night and were very impressed. Our server Peter was very attentive and helpful with making recommendations and explaining the dishes. He definitely took good care of us. Besides the outstanding service, the food was delicious. The roti are a must try as well as the mango salad and chicken skewers with peanut sauce. We had a lovely dinner and will definitely be back.

The food was delicious. We had a number of things - mango salad, the potatoes, the dry beef curry, the pickled pineapple and roti and the Penang street noodles. Overall, everything we had was delicious and tasty. The highlight for me however was the service. Our waiter was Peter. He is hands down one of the best waiters I’ve ever had in my life. He was so attentive and considerate. He always seemed to anticipate our needs and took care of them expeditiously. Then we found out it was only his second day working- wow! So incredible for only being his second day. So overall, atmosphere was good, food was good and service by Peter was FANTASTIC!

I truly wanted to like this place. I went in with fairly high expectations and ended leaving disappointed. I ordered the chicken satay, which was decent. My main entree was the nasi ganja and it was quite unpleasant. Let me preface this by saying that I grew up eating various Southeast Asian cuisines, so this flavor combination and ingredients aren’t exactly a huge leap outside my comfort zone. The salted duck egg was extremely overpowering and had a soapy aftertaste. I couldn’t take another bite of it and had to wash it down with water to avoid spitting it out. The coconut chutney was so bitter and the slimy okra didn’t add anything to the dish. This dish was a giant train wreck of flavors and not worth $25.00. Maybe it was my fault for ordering the nasi ganja and perhaps I would’ve fared better with their other entrees. Lesson learned. The service was borderline neglectful. The table next to me was charged the wrong bill which belonged to a different table entirely, so make sure you check your final tab. They also include a note on the menu saying they automatically tack on 10% service charge and that it’s not considered the final tip.

What's good? The Penang Street Noodles (Char Kway Teow) were amazing. We wish we had ordered more to go. It's rare to find a dish in DC with Chinese sausage. The fried potatoes were delicious! Highly recommend those two. The Spicy Hakka Noodles were very good after I mixed all ingredients together, very filling too. The Chicken Skewers were nothing special. I also wish the service was more attentive. They brought the entree before bringing the appetizers/small plates and brought my drink long after we got all of our food.

We were thrilled to discover this award-winning Malaysian restaurant in DC and will definitely return to try more of their dishes. We loved the authentic flavors of Malaysia in every dish we tried, especially their Char Kway Teow, which had that authentic charcoal smoke flavor. The atmosphere of the place was great. The service was also good. After a delicious meal, their sago with coconut cream and gula melaka was perfect.

Came here for Friday dinner—made reservations at a high top, and were seated right away. The place was fairly packed and had an energetic vibe. Food was good—although we did enjoy the food, I didn’t find anything particularly special. My top favorites were the Ayam Goreng (Fried chicken with salted duck yolk), Char Kway Teow (Penang Street Noodle—but overloaded with Chinese sausage vs. shrimp) and the Baby Bok Choy (the gravy is really good). For appetizer, the Chicken Sate was only decent if you ate it with the peanut sauce otherwise it’s bland—the Kerabu Mangga (Mango Salad) was okay, spicy kick, but an unnecessary big portion for an appetizer, that ended up going to waste. Cocktails were okay—I liked the Halia & Serai (Malaysian gimlet). Service was amazing—our server Caitlin was great—friendly and attentive. Note, this place does add an automatic 22% service fee that goes to all the staff.

I am thrilled to share my experience at Makan, a Malaysian restaurant that had been on my list for quite some time. After following them on social media for a while, I finally decided to take the plunge and fly to DC to check out their brunch menu. Although the dinner menu also looked enticing, I was particularly interested in seeing how Asian restaurants approached brunch. Malaysian food is difficult to define, as it combines the culinary traditions of Malay, Chinese, and Indian cultures. At Makan, they strike the perfect balance by representing Malaysian cuisine as it should be - a blend of flavors from each major group. The result is a menu that is a true representation of what Malaysian food should be. You will find a mix of dishes from each ethnic group, including the nationally acclaimed dish nasi lemak. I ordered a variety of dishes and enjoyed them all. The kerabu mangga, a green mango and calamansi salad tossed with fermented shrimp paste sambal, was a perfect balance of sweet, sour, tangy, and refreshing. The cucur udang, fluffy shrimp fritters fried to perfection, were delightful with the tamarind chili sauce on the side. The peanut sauce served with the sate ayam was a standout, made with roasted peanuts, palm sugar, tamarind, lemongrass, galangal, chili peppers, and shallot - a classic accompaniment to this traditional chicken skewer. The roti banjir, a roti topped with coconut curry, dhal, sambal, and a soft egg, won me over with the first bite. The sambal, which generally refers to chili paste in Malay, is used in many dishes at Makan and enhances the flavors. Mixing it with the runny egg yolk, then taking a bite of the roti with curry, creates a creamy sensation followed by a sweet and spicy kick from the sambal. The sambal also worked its magic in the nasi lemak, the national dish of Malaysia, which consists of fragrant steamed rice cooked with coconut milk and pandan. Makan's version features generous amounts of sambal over the rice, along with chicken confit, fried anchovies, boiled egg, and cucumber on the side. The rice is cooked to perfection, fragrant, and the sambal ties all the flavors together beautifully. I also ordered the ayam goreng perempah, fried chicken with chili crumbles and tomato sambal, and the char kway teow, a street food noodle known from Penang, which was stir-fried to perfection. The dish's success relies on the "wok Hei," the flavors and tastes imparted from a hot wok during stir-frying. The dish is simple and requires skillful technique, which Makan executes flawlessly. The special of the day was a pan-seared daikon turnip cake with bean sprouts in soy and chili oil, which had a dense, glutinous texture and a contrastingly crispy seared side with a perfect savory flavor from the sauce. Makan also offers several acar, a staple vegetable pickle in Peranakan cuisine, and the kitchen kindly sent a sampler to try. The pickles were delicious on their own, but I loved adding them to my dishes to create more flavors. For dessert, I enjoyed the sago, a tapioca pearl dessert with coconut pandan cream and palm sugar. Overall, Makan is the best Malaysian restaurant I have been to in the USA. The menu sets a definitive tone for what Malaysian food should be, and the true Malaysian food culture is successfully conveyed with a modern twist and traditional flavors combined. I can't wait to go back!

The go to spot for a good sandwich in SW DC or on the Wharf!! The the seeded bun for the hoagie is amazing and makes it's a true northeast sandwich. My go to is Italian, which is called the Italian, or the egg plant parm. You can't beat this place and if you have pickie eaters this is a good stop

I ordered here from uber eats… and I’m not sure exactly what this is. I’ve gone to the new one in Ballston and it was great, I did go in person. However I’m not feeling well, so I thought I would order it. I guess Ballston isint on here, so it came from here, maybe that was mistake. It came super soggy and “wet “, like a lot of mayo on it, and was not able to eat it

I would give more than 3 stars but the flavor of my cheese steak sandwich was lacking and there were no additional salt and pepper or any other seasoning to aid in flavor. They were also heaving on the onions. The other cold cut sandwiches were pretty good. Also the complimentary water containers were empty. Good location and nice clean facility with outdoor patio/eating area. I would try them again.

La Notte and the BYO Cheesesteak were AMAZING! We had the risotto balls, mozzarella fried I don’t know what, the waffle fries and the cannoli literally they all were AMAZING! Absolutely perfect, quick and so good! The portions were huge, my husband and I took the second half to go and I don’t regret it. Perfect spot for sandwiches that are quick, filling and ready to go! Must visit spot!

Petite Cerise is a charming French restaurant located near the convention center, making it a popular spot during big conferences. Despite being busy, the wait for a table is usually short. The lunch menu offers delicious food, although some feel that it lacks smaller side options. The service is exceptional and attentive, providing an enjoyable dining experience. While some dishes may have unique twists that not everyone appreciates, the culinary skills of the chefs are evident throughout the meal.
had an amazing final lunch the last weekend of them being open. So sad I didn’t go here sooner! The omelette was the best omelette I’ve ever had. It was extremely velvety and unlike any other omelette I’ve had. It was indescribably smooth all the way through. The caramelized onions and the cream sauce on top was divine. We also had a side of the bacon and the fries everything was perfect! The service was great and the atmosphere was very cute. While I would say I’d be back here again, unfortunately I don’t think I’ll have the chance. But, it was a great experience and sad to hear that they are closing.
Jordyn H — Google review
Food is overpriced for the portions. The chicken was a poussin, which is of course small but it was $44! Tasty not but worth that price. None of the food arrived hot - it was all tepid. Soft-shelled crab was drowning in too much thick sauce, and although the Parisian gnocchi were good, again, too much sauce. It overwhelmed the dish. Pork belly also was too seasoned by the cherry sauce. The escargot were pretty good - except they were lukewarm and there were only 3 of them. Snails should be piping hot. The carottes râpées were good, and the pistachio profiteroles for dessert were good. A lot of the food felt like the menu was trying too hard to be ‘exquisite’. The restaurant is in a good location and the ambiance/decor are great.

Petite Cerise – Washington, DC Rating: 7.5/10 Petite Cerise offers a charming Parisian-inspired ambiance with its tasteful, airy décor reminiscent of the French countryside. Our experience was fairly standard overall. Despite having a reservation, we waited about 20 minutes for our table, which was a minor inconvenience. Service was somewhat lacking; our server was unable to tell us what pastries were available from the pastry menu, and we were instead encouraged to leave our table on the second floor to browse the pastry counter on the first—an awkward and inefficient arrangement. We started with the highlights of our meal. The beignets were excellent—light, airy, and paired beautifully with raspberry preserves, crème diplomate, and a surprising herbal note from pink peppercorns. The omelet was perfectly executed in French tradition—silky, buttery, and delicious. The breakfast sandwich was also a standout, featuring quality bacon, chili mayo, and a fresh brioche bun. However, there were some misses. The Salade Caesar, while a good-quality salad, did not meet expectations as a Caesar; it lacked anchovies, and the dressing leaned more toward a lemon vinaigrette than a traditional Caesar. The burger, though decent and flavorful, didn’t quite compare to other comparable restaurants like Le Diplomat, which I often find hard to beat for value and quality. While our brunch was enjoyable, nothing truly stood out as memorable, and the mediocre service didn’t help elevate the experience. Overall, I’d rate it a 7.5 out of 10. It’s not a place I’d be rushing back to, but I am open to trying their dinner offerings in the future, hoping for a more polished experience.

The service from the time u step in the door until you leave is top notch. Everyone works together so someone is always checking on you. The chef is amazing. Food is delicious and fresh. Unique options and I love catching the "new" pastry every time I visit. Great for special occasion or just a nice Sunday brunch.

Update: went back less than a week later because I was craving the omelette so bad and the pastry I tried was delish! My partner had the breakfast sandwich and said it was one of the best in the city which is high praise from him. If you haven’t tried the omelette here, you need to run, don’t walk. Hands down, one of the best i’ve ever had in my life. Service was impeccable, food was delicious, and I could see the vanilla bean in my vanilla latte. Pastries were just fine, but maybe I didn’t try the right one. We also ordered a side of potatoes and I’d skip those next time.

Popped in for coffee because it was near the Convention Center. They were open barely 1/2 hour so there a handful of folks already here. The front door had curtains with tiebacks that added a nice touch entering this quaint French eatery. I walked in and was welcomed with a smile. I had a well-made cappuccino with a chocolate croissant. I enjoyed my quick pick-me-up before heading to today's conference. I preferred this place over the coffee options offered inside the Convention Center.

Located in the bustling Chinatown-Penn Quarter district of Washington, D.C., this eatery has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike, often buzzing with activity at all hours. The menu features intriguing salad combinations that can be both classic and adventurous, catering to diverse palates.
This is one of the best salad places I’ve been to in years. Went for lunch right around noon on a Monday. The place was crowded, but I didn’t have to wait long in line. Staff were efficient and very friendly. I chose to build my own salad, adding the grilled beef and shrimp as my protein choices. I could tell the ingredients were fresh and it was very tasty.

Went for the first time ever and got the Mexican Caesar wrap without chicken and honestly it was pretty tasty. The tortilla chips added a nice crunch while the jalapeños added much needed spice. It was a pretty hefty wrap for the $10 price tag after tax, especially factoring in location. My biggest issue is that the wrap fell apart quite quickly after opening the wrapper. I ended up eating the wrap part by itself after a few bites and all the filling that was left in my wrapper I cleaned up with a fork Definitely will give them another chance with a different menu item in the future.

Boogy and Peel, located near Dupont Circle, is a pizza restaurant that has left many patrons impressed. The ambiance draws people in, and the delicious pizza and excellent service keep them coming back for more. The crust of their pizzas is described as divine - perfectly crisp on the outside yet soft and chewy on the inside. Customers have enjoyed the Happy Hour menu with great prices and recommend trying out their non-alcoholic spicy margarita.
Neopolitan pizza place serving up personal sized pizzas with unique toppings. Overall the pizza was a 9/10. Crust had some char but was also fluffy. It was able to hold all the toppings without getting droopy. Vodka sauce had a nice spice to it and the mushroom pizza was on the lighter side. Parking sucks, you'll have to get lucky or park at the garage across the street for $20.

I was looking for Deep Dish Pizza and Google told me they had some. Well, the didn't but it smelled so good when I sat down that I had to stay and give it a try. I wasn't disappointed. I had the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and the combination of flavors was great. My favorite part was the contrasting of the buffalo chicken with the sweet pickles. Well done!

I ordered from boogy and peel because I wanted to try something new and am happy I did. The pizza does not deliver well, the crust came soggy, but it would have been amazing if I ate there. The pizza is packed with flavor and spice. I had the macha roni and loved it!!! The wings were not good. They were overcooked and the sauce did not stay on them. The Italian sandwich was very nice. I prefer something rich and filling, but their take on it is light and airy. You get all the flavors but you’re not weighed down after eating it. I’d order it again.

I did not have the full experience here because I arrived right as they were closing. However, despite this, they served us with a smile and the food did not disappoint. We got a “Detroit style” pizza with vodka sauce and pepperoni, which was delicious! I also loved the decor in here and cannot wait to go back. Decent pizza. It was completely empty went I went. It was good service, but there was an automatic 18% service fee so that’s something you should keep in mind. The pizzas here are amazing — by far the best I’ve had in DC. The kale caesar pizza in particular was an unexpected surprise which I’ll definitely order again. The crust is chewy and crispy with a great char.
Liam B — Google review
A casual pizza place where you can find combinations of pizza toppings which are not conventional. We had the kale salad with anchovies and the pizza with the eggplant, feta and honey drizzle. The salad was super delicious with lots of flavor and texture. It is a bit on the salty side, which I think can be elevated with something that adds a bit of freshness and cleans the palate. The anchovies add lots of flavor which I highly recommend if you do not have any dietary restrictions. The pizza has dill and mint which makes it super light and refreshing. The honey is not overpowering any other flavors, and not too sweet, so I highly recommend trying it with the honey. One other variation would be to have chili infused honey instead of a regular one. I found the amount of eggplant too little though the sauce was super flavorful. The crust is also super nice with crunchy corners. The bubbles around the corner shows a well-done proofing process of the dough. The interior is also very clean and trendy, which makes it ideal if you want to have something casual but don’t feel like you have a take out. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place.

Best place to get good Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food. It's quick and good quality food. Keeps the belly in good shape since I am DC area worker and pick up lunch here. I vote of the rice bowls are good and the toppings are amazing. Going here for 3 years and more, I have not been dissatisfied even once. Has vegan option.

Hopped off the metro and found my new favorite Middle Eastern quick stop. Delicious food and fantastic service.

Great little place near McPherson Square that serves pitas, wraps, and bowls. Served deli-style. Just select your base and walk the line to choose your veggies and toppings. Quick, friendly service. This is vegetarian friendly. I will return for my lunch break.

Burmese restaurant
Event venue
Southeast Asian restaurant
Thamee, located on H Street NE in Washington, DC, offers a delightful introduction to Burmese cuisine. The restaurant is the brainchild of the team behind Toli Moli bodega and features a fusion of Chinese, Thai, and Indian influences in its dishes. Guests can savor creative offerings such as pork belly with pickled mango curry and lahpet poke, a traditional Burmese salad made with pickled tea leaves.
Delicious meal and a pleasant experience here. The staff was kind and attentive, and it seemed like they put a lot of care in each of their dishes. I really loved the restaurant decor - true to the restaurant's Burmese identity and simple but not overdone. We ordered the tea leaf salad, coconut curry with mushroom, cauliflower & pickled mango, and the palata & scoops. I highly recommend all of them! Would love to come back for brunch. As a note - you may have to verify if certain dishes are vegan even if they're labeled that way on the menu (ex. the coconut curry comes with egg). I only wish that there was a vegetarian version of the tea leaf salad :)
Allison L — Google review
This is a 4.5. They have some pretty impressive flavors among the dishes served. The tea leaf salad was the least enjoyable, but could be a new flavor profile that was beyond me. It's acidic and super bitter. I could almost get on board, but it was just too much. The deep fried shrimp and vegetables was very good. It was no ordinary batter. The pork with the tomato sause with pickled mango was unreal. It sounds unusual, but the flavor was amazing. The Naan was very good, but a tad pricey. The rice - well seasoned and accompanied the coconut curry very well. I would definitely come back.

My boyfriend and I came here during our D.C. visit last month and are sad to hear that it had been closed since Friday. As someone who grew up eating my mom’s home cooking of Burmese foods, my favorite dish from Thamee was mohingar. The flavors of the fish, lemongrass and spices in the soup were rich and flavorful. It was also authentic and tasted just like my mom’s cooking. The seared eggplant dish, beef curry, and white fungus salad were also my favorites. Wishing the owner and all the staff members at Thamee the best with future endeavors!!!

We came for the food but stayed for both the food and the drinks. Every cocktails is as pretty as it is tasty. By the time we finished eating we were too full for dessert. The fish shrimp, Khao suew and meatballs were all particularly tasty. The only miss was the veggie fritters. We'll definitely be back.
Angshuman M — Google review
Don't miss! Reasonable prices and so delicious! They didn't have prices available on board outside so we actually almost passed this place up. Glad we didn't! The mohinga (Myanmar national dish) is PHENOMENAL (not an exaggeration). I cannot understand what all spices make it so amazing, but it was heaven. The rest of our food was also really good, great date night spot, waitstaff was attentive and helpful. A great spot. We didn't try drinks but I saw others, they looked good. They have a neat little vegetables w/sauce they bring you in the beginning (no charge) also was good.
Sarah B — Google review
Visit 1: The pickled tea leaf salad was delicious. The waitress shared that they ship the tea leaves from Burma and this is the only restaurant in the US you can get them at. I wish I had gotten x5 of them rather then splitting one amongst the three of us. The fiancee got the chicken coconut curry and she loved it. I tried the sauce (as I am vegetarian) and for me it was a little too sweet but I guess I am a bit more critical of food. It's also important to note I only tried the sauce, not the dish as a whole with the noodles, chicken, and onions. BFF got prawns and tomatoes. Didn't want to try but she loved it and had a very satisfied food face. I got the cauliflower and eggplant. One of two main vegetarian dishes. TBH it sucked. The eggplants were not cooked equally, some crunchy and some rubbery. The dish itself lacked seasoning and mostly tasted like tomatoes. I love tomatoes but it doesn't serve as enough flavor for the dish. In addition, it took around 7 minutes between when my fiancee and BFF got their dish and when I got my dish. They were half way done by the time mine arrived. This is why I felt forced to lower the stars. We ended the meal with one plate of the dessert of the day. I enjoyed it but i wish the bread was bigger. But my god, that buttery naan was yummy. Ice cream was quite interesting. Visit 2: Had the mushroom curry noodle soup. I enjoyed it but wish they offered it with tofu instead. The tea leaf salad tasted different and was very disappointing. Visit 3: The tea leaf salad was bitter. What happened to how good it tasted the first time around? I had the masala tofu platter and it was fantastic. The food seems to be really hit or miss.

Very approachable introduction to Burmese food. I really like the decor and the ambiance of the restaurant. Food was delicious and good size portions to share allowing lots of variety. Owner is amazingly nice and extremely welcoming. She has such a passion for her food it's worth checking out.

Great food and service! I’ve had Burmese food a few times before and Thamee did not disappoint! I’m vegetarian/mostly vegan and the options were great. We got the curry noodles with mushrooms and the spicy tofu (which my friend was hesitant to try because he thought it would be boring but it ended up being his favorite!) along with the tea salad and homemade garlic naan. Cute location but it seems they also cater to groups, which is good to know. Definitely recommend!

Wine bar
The Eastern is a trendy bar and wine section in the city, managed by Robert Morin. It offers an array of cocktails, drinks, and light bites such as cheese, seafood, salad, and sandwiches. Situated in the Eastern Market in Capitol Hill, it boasts one of the best wine lists in the city. The menu is designed to help patrons find their perfect wine match based on their preferences. Even for non-wine enthusiasts, there are plenty of options available.
I had a great time at this wine bar. The vibe was super relaxed, making it easy to unwind. I wanted to try the charred Brussels sprouts, but they were out. Our waiter apologized and brought us Arancini instead, which I hadn't planned on ordering but ended up really enjoying. This was a super nice gesture. We also had the White Bean Hummus and Shrimp Tacos—both were delicious. For drinks, we tried the Sophie Rose and a glass of Chardonnay; both were excellent. Overall, the food was flavorful, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere was calming. I'll definitely be back.
Cholly E — Google review
The cocktail selection is very good, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. I happened in on a night when the kitchen was having a problem, so I can't comment on most of the food. What was available was still quite good. The staff working were very accommodating and understanding and overall seem great.
Eric N — Google review
I went to a special Galentine’s wine tasting event at the Eastern, and it was such a great time! The staff was so knowledgeable about the wines they served us. They were happy to answer any questions we had. We ordered the Beastern Board. It was exquisite.🍷
Alex P — Google review
The Eastern is a wine bar so let's start with the wine list. The list is varied, playful, interesting, and approachable for the novice and engaging to the very knowledgeable. Yeah, the wine part is lovely, one of the best wine bars in the city. The food is delightful. The Eastern Burger is my current pick for best in the city. The pretzel, hummus, and crudo are also top of the table. The service is warm and kind.

This place is wonderful! Staff is so so nice and accommodating. They made us feel really welcomed and not rushed at all. The drinks are tasty and amazing.
M R — Google review
Yesterday, I had a pretty underwhelming experience at The Eastern. I understand the bar can get busy, but the service didn't feel very welcoming. When I sat down, I wasn't greeted right away. I was probably there for about 3 to 4 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. Eventually, I was handed a drink menu and a water. Which came from the barback. Honestly, he was more helpful and attentive than the female bartender. Later on, I noticed a guest sitting a couple seats away was greeted immediately and given water without having to ask. When i asked for my check, I was told it would be brought out after the bartender finished making drinks. I get that it was busy, but the whole interaction made me feel like I wasn't a priority. I hope this feedback helps improve the overall guest experience.
Diamond B — Google review
This place is THE BEST. Amazing atmosphere, fantastic service and knowledgeable bartenders, and food is chefs kiss to top it off. I highly recommend you check this place out if you’re a wine lover!
Kimberly F — Google review
Nothing but good things to say about this place. Service was excellent, food was excellent and wine was excellent. Ashley, our server was amazing. I was not sure what wine I wanted to order and she brought me several samples to help me decide. At the time we arrived there were no seats inside, and it was very cold. As soon as a table opened up indoor she quickly let us know and we were able to enjoy our food and drinks in the warmth. Everything in the cheese and meat plate was delicious with the wine. We also shared the steak entre and it was cooked perfectly and delicious. If you are in the mood for some good wine and bites definitely check them out.

Sports bar
Fight Club Sandwich Bar is a popular sandwich spot that started as a pop-up during lockdown and has now found its permanent location. The new brick-and-mortar space, located near Beucherts Saloon, embraces an irreverent vibe with murals by Nate Mann and quirky decor like a Street Fighter arcade game. Currently open for weekday lunches, the establishment plans to introduce evening service soon.
One of the best sandwich shops in the District! Huge sandwiches- get the Fight Club (my favorite), the burger or the fried chicken. And the Primanti and tots- basically everything I've had is delicious! Happy hour is a great deal as well.
Matt J — Google review
The vibe of this place is really funky in a friendly way, they have plants, a huge bar and all different types of drinks to choose from. The portions of the food for the price is what is dragging it down here. We got the onion rings, wings and a sandwich. The amount of onion rings and wings given was not a lot for how much was being charged. :/ The food was okay, I personally think it could have been better.

Visited last night. Blue haired bartender was running front of house solo, so everything was extremely slow. She did a great job, but she was handling all orders for 20+ customers. Then they were out of all beef, so half the menu was unavailable. After an hour, i realized there were two other people working front of house but doing almost nothing. My chicken sandwich came out and the bun was burnt black on both sides, come on, don’t send it out like that! The chicken thigh was also 50% breading that tasted good, except it was also over cooked, so the sandwich mostly tasted… burnt. My friends promise me the sandwiches are incredible, but they were barely half full on a Friday evening and i was very unimpressed. Would not return.

We were just wandering around Eastern Market and stumbled onto this place. There is a different vibe going on here that is enjoyable. The menu is kinda cool. It was not busy while we visited. Bria was our server, and she had an AWESOME and exciting attitude. She never seemed to grumble or pout and always had a smile. Music and food were great.
George F — Google review
We had the chicken sandwich, BLT and fruity pebbles ice cream sandwich. All the sandwiches had a unique thing about them that separates them from the rest. It the flavors paired good and was cooked great. I wish fries came with the sandwich. Owner gave us a free ice cream sandwich today for no reason at all! Everything is a 1990s/2000 vibe to the place and they even gave me my receipt in a blockbuster movie case.
Scott M — Google review
Imagine a groovy rec room with a mom who makes the best sandwiches in town. If you need someplace casual but want heightened food you will enjoy Fight Club. It’s hard to explain how a simple roast beef sandwich could be so perfect. A half portion of fries was plenty for two of us. They tasted like they came with a steak in a bistro. My friend had the torts with carnitas which was good. But after a lifetime of roast beef sandwiches, I can’t stop thinking about how this may have been the best ever.
Suzanne G — Google review
This was one of the most disappointing meals I’ve had in the DMV. I really wish that wasn’t the case but it is. I ordered the FC Chicken Doink after seeing pics on Instagram and it was a complete letdown. It was hard for me not to stare and laugh at how comically small my chicken was. The fried chicken thigh was overcooked and tough, with a rubber-like consistency. The biscuit-like pancakes did not complement the chicken either. I regret spending $15 on this meal; all together with my partner's meal it was closer to $75 (two meals and two drinks). Initially seeing the cook frantically running in and out of the restaurant should have been a warning sign to avoid this place altogether. Do yourself a favor and hop on over to the Mexican and Salvadorian place one store over and get yourself a pupusa. If you want to just drink a beer then consider Fight Club.

Super laid back spot in EM with equally creative and delicious samwiches, accented with really friendly service. I started with their deviled eggs and wasn't disappointed. Super creamy, enjoyed every bite, and loved the very pickled carrot slaw it comes with. Dope. I couldn't decide between all the amazing samwiches on the menu so decided to do 50/50 and order two and have half of each. The strategy worked out, both my choices were bomb. The Torta Al Pastor was super solid, chunks of seasoned pork with avocado, refried beans, queso fresco, and pickled jalapeno on fresh ciabatta. Only disappoinment was the avocado was not very fresh. My other selection was the eponymous Fight Club: tender sliced club steak, roasted tomato, creamy brown butter mayo, generous amounts of bacon, fresh shredded lettuce, on plain but delicious lightly toasted white bread. Epic. Too full to try anything else but will definitely be back. Great lunch spot if you're nearby.

La Betty is a cozy spot with an incredible ambiance and outstanding staff. The food is delicious, featuring creamy mac and cheese, juicy burgers, refreshing salads, and the famous Betty sauce that's simply irresistible. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure a comfortable experience for guests. The special house sauce with fries is a must-try, while the chicken schnitzel topped with salad and honey mustard vinaigrette is cooked perfectly.
Great food! Cool vibe! Amazing weekly pasta special. I went here on a dinner date, we didn’t even have any wine because we heard about how the good the food is. It did not disappoint and was exquisite! We got the carbonara, the Korean chicken wings, the bread roll. The carbonara was a weekly special ($19) and not on the menu. It was creamy and rich. The focaccia bread that was paired with it was soft and delicious. The Korean chicken wings ($15) tasted like it would at an Asian restaurant. They perfected the crunch and they were large wings! We got a bread roll that was alright but it came with salted butter that was very good. Overall, I’d recommend coming to this place to eat and drink. I only gave it a 4/5 in service because they said they would bring water and we had to follow up twice and it wasn’t really busy.

This is an incredible experience! The wine beverages were delicious, and it’s all natural, woke up feeling great the next day. I had the sliders and the wings, both were amazing. The whole vibe is awesome! The DJs playing vinyl made the night incredible. The staff was friendly, welcoming and they were also having a great time, listening to the music and being cordial. Every need was met and anticipated, this is a must visit when you are in DC!

When you Walk inside La Betty in front of you is a the counter of donuts and cakes. The process of ordering was unclear and confusing. There were people standing in the lobby area who looked like customers. Employees were behind the counter. Menus were by the door. There was no one to greet you. We asked the employee behind the counter where to go to eat. A warm woman Asia appeared and told us we could order from her and she would call our name when the food was ready. We walked to the right of the counter behind a wall and found a lounge area and dining tables. We sat down at the counter by the window. One of us had a laptop. Another woman appeared and told us there were no laptops allowed in the dining room. The woman told us to go to the other side of the entrance where laptops are allowed, which we did. Btw, Another customer was working at the same counter via phone and notepad. There is no WiFi and the music is loud. We ordered the following. 1. The Jelly donut was good filled with a nice amount of raspberry/strawberry jelly. 2. The Glazed donut was ok. 3. The Cream with coconut donut was ok. There is a lot of cream with a touch of coconut. 4. Chive cheddar biscuit with an egg. The egg was good and the biscuit was surprisingly bland. 5. The French baguette is good. May return to try their other food options but do not want to go out of our way to return.

The best natural wine selections in dc, two different vibes at night, before 8pm was laidback, chill music selection, great way to hang out and have a glass before dinner. After 8pm, it was upbeat and fun, old school hiphop that night, seating was pretty spaced out so not crowded, great place for couples or groups. Lots of seating options for different vibes, lounge seating, window seats, booth seats, etc. Service was good, host in front takes you to your seat, then you order at the bar, great idea for a place like this imo

Great place for a casual date, or hanging out with friends. The wait staff are knowledgeable about the menu and wine. We sampled several menu items. The parker rolls, wings, salmon, spaghetti, and Ceasar salad were delicious.and we thought reasonably priced. The Vin de Days 2024 wine was a great recommendation by our server. We left room for dessert and highly recommend the carrot cake and donuts. In addition to the great wine and food, we could hear each other easily enough to have a conversation without yelling..even though there was music playing.

I’ve gone to La Betty AM twice since it replaced A Baked Joint, and both times have been awful. First visit: I ordered two chais, a cinnamon roll, and some banana bread. The banana bread was fine. The place was half as busy as a baked joint used to be but it took almost twice as long for my chais to arrive, which is when I was told that they were out of cinnamon rolls. They offered me a refund, which I was fine with, but it’s been a month and I haven’t received one, so they stole my money. It was just a slightly overpriced cinnamon roll though, no big deal, mistakes happen. Second visit: I ordered banana bread and cookies. It took 10 minutes to grab premade items and put them in a bag, except that once again, they didn’t have an item - this time the 4 cookies that I ordered. Once again, I already paid for them, and although I did receive a refund this time, the experience was still very off-putting. On top of that, the bread was stale. Serving stale bread at 7:45 in the morning is … a choice. Summary: La Betty AM has charged me for items that I never received without providing me a refund for it. I don’t recommend spending your money here.

Wow - remarkable experience. The service and wine consultation was expert and concise. We were well informed and ordered the Milu, delicious and exactly what we were looking for. The food, also great. Would recommend the truffle fries. Music - 10/10, Atmosphere - 10/10, Decor - 10/10 - so comfy and beautiful furniture. Particularly Alexa was incredibly helpful and kind. Would absolutely recommend to anyone in DC!

I’ve stopped by for a few weekends now, and I really like the new space! it’s got this eclectic, retro, earthy feel. I was able to get what I used to get from baked the server told me they refreshed the menu it’s supposed to be a nice mix of new items and some older offerings. It does get pretty busy here on weekends, so I’d recommend coming earlier if you want to grab a seat.

sweetgreen is a popular chain that offers organic salads and bowls, with a focus on sourcing ingredients from local farmers. The restaurant has become a leader in the locavore movement, ensuring fresh and flavorful dishes while supporting nearby producers. Customers can either customize their own salad or choose from the restaurant's signature creations. With numerous locations across the District, sweetgreen provides quick service, often preparing orders within 5-10 minutes.
It's a order in advance via the phone app only place. Took a min to set everything up in the app, but the meal was made quick, I got the salmon bowl, very good. There were a few tables outside, otherwise it's a grab and go meal.

Quick turnaround and great fresh ingredients but… the avocado and hard boiled egg were left whole. Didn’t exactly have a great way to slice them up myself and had to just eat the egg separately. The website shows both cut into smaller pieces. Do they not have a knife back there?

PICK-UP ONLY STORE! I wanted to give more than 3 stars but that lack of experience is hurting me. Went with a colleague during a show at the convention center for a good meal during lunch, but was disappointed. The food was pretty fresh, tasty and healthy. Both of us liked our meal, but the experience of dining/sitting was a complete miss. Good for people who prefer to pick up. May try again if I'm in that mood.

⚠️THIS IS AN ORDER AHEAD (VIA APP) STORE ONLY ⚠️ This location gave me one of the best Sweetgreen salads I've ever had however the wait time was close to 15 minutes. It was hard to communicate with staff at this location. There is no in-store seating but there are a couple of outdoor seating options. There is no parking available. This location is best reached via public transit or by-foot.

As a local, my go-to place for a salad bowl. You can literally order from online (or an app) so I'm pretty confused why so many reviews take issue with the pickup-only restaurant format

I’m so sick of pick up only stores. At least change the name on Google maps so it’s clear you can’t walk in and order food. Edit: Changed my two star review to one star because their response was so useless. I was hungry and wanted to get a salad! And you literally can’t order a salad without a smart phone. It’s so incredibly stupid.
