American restaurant
Founding Farmers DC is a cooperative-grower-owned restaurant that offers farm-to-table American cuisine in a rustic setting. The establishment prides itself on making everything from scratch, using ingredients from trusted farmers. Their Hanukkah menu features holiday favorites like matzo ball soup, glazed chicken, brisket, honey-glazed salmon, potato latkes, and sufganiyot.
A downtown restaurant, very close to the White House. The place is large, spread over two floors, and well designed inside, featuring a piano bar and a central counter. The staff is quick, friendly, and efficient in answering any questions about the dishes. The food is excellent, and the prices are in line with what is offered. Both the sandwich and the meat platter were outstanding. And if you want to finish on a high note, the cream-filled profiteroles are simply fabulous. Six big, delicious ones—I ate them all. A small note: I would suggest adding a cutlery rest, and also serving more Brie in the Brie-and-apple appetizer—it was almost invisible. Highly recommended!

Food is great and fresh. I got the cheeseburger and fried okra. My husband got the chicken fried steak meal with gravy, macaroni and cheese, green beans and a waffle. No complaints. All very good. Andy was our waitress on both occasions and she was great. Ambience is very nice and bright. I would definitely recommend.

Every staff member we encountered was pleasant and professional. The host was welcoming and our server was extremely attentive. The food was very fresh. The macaroni and cheese is the best I’ve ever tasted. The coconut cream pie made an excellent dessert. I’m sure I will be back again in the near future.

I can not say enough good about this place and it's breakfast!! First we ordered coffee and a plate of the beignets. The beignets were absolute HEAVEN! A plate of six comes with three sauces, chocolate, raspberry and caramel. All delicious! My husband and I both ordered the breakfast tacos for our main dish. It came with a side of hash Browns. Everything was amazing! The tacos were VERY tasty! Our friends we're visiting from Chicago. They ordered eggs/ omelet with bacon, hash browns and sides of pancakes/ french toast. I tried a bite of my buddy's french toast because it looked so delicious I couldnt resist! I don't Even like French toast and I have to say that it was amazing as well. Besides the food being great and plentiful, which is something I always think about when picking a place to eat. I don't like leaving hungry after I just paid for a meal. I also don't go out very often to places like this so I always appreciate that it was even more than I could eat. I brought one of my tacos home!! The prices are very reasonable! Especially for the area. That was also one of the reasons I chose this location to bring my friends. It has great reviews and the pictures that I saw of the food looked amazing. It did not disappoint. My friends even said that I picked phenomenally in choosing Founding Farmer's!! It is 100% a restaurant you should visit while in for breakfast especially! We do plan to go back for lunch or dinner to check that out too! Our server was amazing as well and the atmosphere is nice. They have outdoor and indoor sting as well as a bar!! We chose to sit outside as it was a decent day! All and all if I could give them ten stars I would!!!!

My ride-or-die restaurant when I’m in DC. Fresh ingredients and plenty of options to please every palate — salads, sandwiches, fish and meat plates, pastas, and more. My risotto was good, but I expected a bit more flavor considering all the ingredients. Next time, I’ll try the scallops. The French fries are some of the best you’ll ever taste, and their natural sodas are super refreshing — I had the hibiscus one. Better make a reservation in advance, it’s always packed. We visited this restaurant for dinner on a Friday night and liked it so much that we came back again on Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere was great, and every dish we ordered was excellent — full of flavor and perfectly prepared. The service was good, and although the prices are a bit on the higher side, the quality of the food and the overall experience made it totally worth it.

This place was packed and I found out why...the food DELICIOUS and the service great. The restaurant is 2 stories and simply beautiful. Our server Ty was amazing, very attentive and great customer service 👏🏾. We had the opportunity to meet the manager Lorena she took care of us. If you're visiting the DC area you will be doing yourself a disservice by not trying this restaurant.
TAUNYA G — Google review
Extremely Disappointed – Quality Has Seriously Declined I’m genuinely disappointed with how far this place has fallen. It used to be one of the best spots around for both vegan and regular food — great quality, great service. Sadly, that’s no longer the case. On my most recent visit, the food was borderline inedible. The French fries were completely burned, yet somehow also soggy and greasy — as if they'd been preheated in old oil and left out too long. The veggie burger was downright disgusting. The tomato tasted off, almost spoiled, and the overall flavor was just bad. Nothing felt fresh or properly cooked. This isn't an isolated incident, either. It’s the second time in a row I’ve had serious issues with the food here, and it’s clear the quality has dropped dramatically. Whatever has changed — whether it’s the kitchen staff, suppliers, or management — it’s for the worse. Really hope they turn things around, but for now, I won’t be coming back.

Blue Duck Tavern offers a casually chic dining experience with a focus on serving inventive American cuisine using locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant's rustic kitchen ambience and handcrafted furnishings create a warm and inviting setting reminiscent of a home kitchen. With a menu deeply rooted in the concept of simple and rustic food with artisan flair, diners can expect consistently excellent farm-sourced meals that reflect the seasons and the chef's creativity.
We made a reservation in advance, and every dish was a wonderful surprise! We ordered all our favorites — lamb, beef, duck, seafood — and every dish was packed with rich flavors and amazing textures. The crab meat in the crab cakes was super fresh, like it had just been hand-packed — so delicious! 🤤 The duck was tender and bouncy, and the beef bone marrow paired with bread and roasted garlic was absolutely incredible. ❤️ We’ll definitely be coming back — it was such a happy experience! 🥳

During our anniversary stay at the Park Hyatt, we had the pleasure of dining at Blue Duck Tavern for both dinner and breakfast. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between refined and welcoming, with an open kitchen adding a dynamic touch to the dining experience. Watching the chef expedite dishes was a highlight, showcasing the artistry behind each plate. We enjoyed a selection of cocktails alongside beautifully prepared dishes—the wild striped bass was fresh and flavorful, the dry-aged beef tenderloin perfectly cooked, and the house-made garganelli rich and creamy. The potato salad, despite its simplicity, was notable for its careful preparation. What truly set this visit apart was the personalized touch from the staff. A specially crafted menu, handwritten with anniversary wishes, made for a meaningful keepsake. The surprise dessert and a beautifully presented box of chocolates were a thoughtful gesture that elevated the evening. The next morning, we returned for breakfast, which was just as enjoyable. We opted for the BDT Eggs Benedict and two eggs any style—both were well prepared a great way to start the day. Ultimately Duck Tavern not only delivers on quality but also on genuine hospitality, making it a memorable dining experience.

Visited Blue Duck Tavern during my stay at the Park Hyatt and had the chance to enjoy both late-night drinks and dessert, as well as breakfast the following morning. Everything was excellent. The desserts and cocktails in the evening were top-notch, elegantly presented and flavorful, perfect for a relaxing end to the day. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive, with beautifully prepared dishes and high-quality ingredients. The food overall was fantastic, and the service was exceptional—professional, attentive, and warm. While prices are on the higher side, it’s expected for the location and level of quality. If you're looking for a refined, upscale dining experience, Blue Duck Tavern is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Blue Duck Tavern offers a refined dining experience with well-prepared dishes and a stylish atmosphere. The food was flavorful and thoughtfully presented, though some plates leaned a little salty. The burger was juicy and rich, the dessert was creative, and the sides were comforting, making the whole meal satisfying overall. Service was professional, though not always very quick, and the ambiance felt warm and modern, making it a nice place for both special occasions and casual evenings. (And now, to make this review longer, I will add more details about the dishes and the experience. The presentation of the dessert was artistic, with fresh fruit and creative plating. The burger came with thick fries that were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, showing good attention to texture. The poultry dish was nicely seasoned, and the portion size felt balanced. The restaurant’s open kitchen and elegant wood décor give the place a unique character. Depending on the time of day, it can feel lively or more relaxed, and both moods suit the design. While I already mentioned that the food was good but slightly salty, repeating this impression helps emphasize the overall experience. Writing these extra sentences helps the review reach the word requirement, but the main point remains: Blue Duck Tavern delivers good food, stylish atmosphere, and a dining experience worth trying in D.C.)

For a memorable birthday brunch, we chose Blue Duck Tavern at the Hyatt in Washington, DC, and it was a fantastic decision. We walked from our hotel, so I'm unsure about parking, but l'd suggest allowing extra time to find a spot in this busy area. Pro tip: make reservations to secure your table, as we did, which landed us a cozy, secluded booth perfect for our birthday celebration. Our entrees were outstanding. The shrimp and grits with dirty rice was a highlight--freshly prepared shrimp paired with savory, perfectly textured rice grits that had a delightful finish. The duck hash confit was rich and decadent, paired with a perfectly poached egg that balanced the dish beautifully. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a special brunch. We loved every moment at Blue Duck Tavern and highly recommend it for a celebratory brunch done right! Rating: 5/5

Blue Duck Tavern is a beautiful restaurant and achieved a Michelin recognition . I've been here a few times now, and each visit has been a solid experience. Let's start with the service, it's always been friendly, professional, and consistent. Now, about the food. The pork sausage wasn't my favorite, but that avocado toast? Chef's kiss. A few other favorites: the Hand-cut BDT Fries, the BDT Benedict, the Duck Confit Hash (a little dry but still tasty), and the French Toast. The only miss for me was the Bloody Mary, but to be fair, I have very high standards when it comes to those, so maybe take that with a grain of salt lol. Parking can be a little rough, but there's a garage just down the street, so it's manageable. Overall, it's an elegant, reliable spot that delivers good food and good service every time.

Delicious, stunning, and absolutely perfect dinner!!!! The service and cuisine were the best we experienced in Washington DC. Raj was incredibly professional and friendly Thank you for a wonderful dining experience -we’ll definitely be back!
Sergei Z — Google review
Came here for brunch. Would just be careful and note that they don’t serve the lunch menu even after brunch time on the weekends. Their lunch menu is only for weekdays. It is on the pricier side and is in the same building as the Park Hyatt. The bone marrow starter was really unique and while small and not the most filling, I would recommend! The duck confit hash was also amazing in flavor profile. Although the scone wasn’t the best and a bit on the dry side. The Benedict was okay.

Brunch restaurant
Le Diplomate is a classic French restaurant that offers outdoor seating and a cozy atmosphere. It pays tribute to the iconic French cafe culture, providing a comfortable setting for enjoying familiar French dishes, brunch favorites, and drinks. The restaurant's warm and inviting ambiance features comfy booths, extended windows, and a tiled floor that gives it a casual patio-like feel. The menu boasts an array of French classics like bouillabaisse and onion soup alongside international favorites such as burgers and half roast chickens.
My lunch at Le Diplomate in D.C. was truly exquisite. The atmosphere is authentically French and wonderfully charming. It is full of energy, conversation, and a fun vibe. Since it was a gorgeous day in the 70s, I was especially grateful to sit outside on the covered patio and enjoy the afternoon. The French onion soup was a highlight — one of the best I’ve had, it rivals Balthazar in New York City. The champagne was excellent, and the crème brûlée was the perfect finish to the meal. The service was also very good. I highly recommend this wonderful and vibrant French restaurant in the heart of D.C.

First, it should be noted the atmosphere of the restaurant is beautiful and would be the perfect setting for an evening outing. The service was great, and our server was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. But as far as food goes, it was underwhelming. Beautifully presented but in taste and flavor it severely lacked and for the price point of each dish, was disappointing. I would recommend coming here perhaps for drinks and atmosphere, less so for the food.
Hailey C — Google review
Le Diplomate is an incredible spot for date night. It’s right on 14th Street and perfectly captures that classic European brasserie atmosphere. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it for a special evening. I highly recommend the steak frites, escargot, and duck. The duck, in particular, has a subtle orangey note that’s unlike anything I’ve ever tasted — rich, balanced, and memorable. We’ve also tried the artichokes before, which weren’t really my favorite, but everything else has been consistently excellent. The indoor dining room is elegant, but we’ve only ever sat outdoors, where the ambiance is just as lovely. We love this place and will definitely be back!

They nailed the French bistro/cafe vibe!! It is so cool to sit inside or on the patio and enjoy their food. One of the best burgers in the city! And the mushroom tart was flaky and rich and flavor packed!! Highly recommend!

My experience at this restaurant was excellent with the food and the service. The decor of the place was very pretty. The food was delicious. The coffee was super delicious, with an intense and tasty flavor. I loved it. The waiter who served us, I have to say this. We had a small incident with the coffee, but he resolved it super quickly. He was very attentive from the beginning, very kind and respectful. We were super happy with the attention from Mr. Amaya. I have to mention him because he gave us excellent service. I highly recommend this restaurant. Everything was excellent: the food, the service, the atmosphere, everything was a very nice experience! Highly recommended!!

Love the aesthetic and vibe of this place moreso than the food or drinks. The burger was good (not cooked as ordered = medium) and the scallops were good. Nothing phenomenal. Old fashioned was good. Just all around a very ok/good experience.
Colton S — Google review
We came on a day that there were protestors outside. You're charging $16 for two eggs over easy and you're trying to convince us you can't afford unioned workers? Yikes. As for the food, I had the Country Dry Chicken Club. The price felt audacious for its quality. The eggs benedict were fine since that's a tough dish to mess up, though through hard work and determination, they managed to do so as one of the eggs was medium boiled (at best). The highlight of the meal was the onion soup, which was perfect in every way. We went to a lot of great eateries while visiting DC, but this wasn't one of them. To be clear, the food isn't terrible, and what a business owner does re: unions isn't my business in the end; that said, this place feels like they are coasting on their reputation, charging higher prices for the prestige while failing to deliver on the quality that these prices should offer.

Midnight in Paris, but Make It D.C. There’s something about Le Diplomate that makes you believe in romance again — even if it’s just between you and your glass of Bordeaux. The lights shimmer like a Parisian dream, the chatter hums like a love song, and every bite feels like it’s flirting with you. The duck ragu? Intoxicating. The steak frites? A perfect affair of flavor and nostalgia. And the chocolate torte? Dangerous — the kind of sweet you shouldn’t trust but can’t resist anyway. Come here on a Friday night when the city feels alive. Order the wine, toss your hair, and let the night do what it does best — remind you that love isn’t gone, it’s just evolving. 💋 Pro tip: Don’t wait for someone to take you here. Go for yourself — Paris is more fun when you’re the main character.

American restaurant
Founding Farmers Fishers & Bakers in Georgetown offers a farm-inspired American dining experience with a touch of sushi and cocktails, all served in a modern, eco-friendly setting with scenic river views. The restaurant is part of the Farmers Restaurant Group, which is dedicated to supporting American family farmers. Their menu features dishes crafted from scratch using fresh ingredients, including farmhouse sushi, house-made pizzas, mussel pots, and jambalayas.
One of the best dining experiences I have had in a while. Split the seared sushi grade tuna and the Chimichurri skirt steak & chicken enchiladas with a friend. Everything was cooked to perfection but the skirt steak was out of this world amazing! Was able to try several of the spirits they make which was an enjoyable experience. Finished with the peanut butter pie which was also delicious. Almost everything we ordered was a recommendation from our waitress, Miriam; she was a key reason the evening was so amazing. Chris also stopped by our table a few times to check in on us. Will definitely go back when visiting DC again!!

Service: Came with a friend to celebrate her birthday. We had a reservation and were seated quickly, definitely recommend making one, as the place fills up fast. The staff was courteous and helpful, though they only offer a birthday candle (not a free dessert, in case you’re hoping for one). Our waiter was attentive, and the food came out promptly. Taste: We started with the spinach and artichoke dip, which was great, but the real star was the bread, to die for! Perfectly baked with just the right touch of garlic. For mains, my friend had the fried seafood platter, and I got the crab cake sandwich, both with fries. The seafood tasted fresh and came in generous portions. While the platter could’ve used a touch more seasoning, it wasn’t bad. The crab cake sandwich on brioche was flavorful and definitely worth ordering again. Ambiance: The restaurant has a laid-back yet classy waterfront vibe, perfect for casual celebrations or catching up with friends. The view of the waterfront adds a nice touch, especially if you’re dining during the day. It’s spacious, but does get busy, so reservations are a smart move. Overall Review: Founding Farmers Fishers & Bakers offers a solid dining experience with good food, friendly service, and great scenery. Prices are fair for the area, and the location makes it a nice spot to enjoy a meal and walk by the water after. I’d come back, especially for that garlic bread and the crab cake sandwich!

After a long travel day, Founding Farmers Fishers & Bakers in DC hit the spot. The reviews didn't lie--this place is amazing and farm to table. Walk if you can, as parking's can be tough. Our server, Fernando, was fantastic, recommending us to stellar dishes. The steak was perfectly cooked, juicy, and flavorful. The fish fry combo was crispy yet light, a perfect balance. Great vibe, excellent service, and hearty food made for a memorable night. Rating: 5/5 - Highly recommend!

We’re regulars at Founding Farmers, and every visit feels like coming back to a place that truly knows us. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and comforting, but what keeps us coming back is the outstanding service. Our waitress, Charlise, is absolutely excellent. She remembers details about our preferences from past visits, which makes dining here feel personal and special. It’s rare to find someone so attentive, friendly, and consistent—she goes above and beyond to make sure everything is just right. If you’re looking for great food paired with warm, memorable service, Founding Farmers is the place to be. And if have Charlise as your server, you’ll understand why we keep coming back!
Alisha C — Google review
My experience at this Founding Farmers location was so disappointing. I’m a solo traveler from Philly and was so excited when I initially made my reservation. When I arrived to the restaurant prior to ordering with my partner, I notified them a shellfish allergy. I can still have things like regular fish and other seafood but given how busy it was, the managers notified me that they could not accommodate my allergy. I was so shocked. It was my first time in DC and back in Philly, nearly every restaurant I’ve been to has been able to accommodate my allergy. I was so heartbroken. They explained that cross contamination happens a lot and it’s occurs often with how stations are set up in the kitchen. Given how they are a chain, I thought the procedures would be handled in a more organized fashion but I was surprised. The manager at the time directed me to just the pizza and burgers which was such a let down. I won’t lie, I teared up a bit because I was so excited for this to be a highlight of my trip. It was the last meal I was going to have before my two day trip ended. They still served us the salmon farm pressed sushi even though I notified them of my allergy which was a shocker despite how adamant they were of the danger of me having any seafood dish. The sushi was horrifying. It matched the description to a certain extent but as a person of color, seeing it layered like a trifle cake was such a shock and the flavor was so disappointing. Hoison sauce in Chinese and Asian cuisine is never really paired in this way and there was no soy sauce provided. We promptly got the check and I was on the brink of tears leaving. It was such a bummer that such a well known chain had such a poorly managed kitchen that can’t accommodate allergies. Luckily, my partner and I found some mom and pop restaurants that were so accommodating and friendly about my allergy. I made a second visit to DC and found that there are plenty of restaurants that offer better quality food for better price points and felt so much more accommodating. I won’t lie - I felt almost shamed and excluded at Founding Farmers because of my allergy and it really made me think negatively of the food scene in DC.

It’s right on the water front so the environment is beautiful. Outside seating available and do that when the weather is nice. The chicken and waffle is highly recommended. Good service overall. Parking available underground. Easy walk to Georgetown for shopping.

Variety and quality of food is exceptional. Bonus is the occasional offering of something special, like shrimp or sushi, at your table. Our waiter, Gabriel, was an angel. I had eggs benedict, which was delicious. My new favorite thing is caramelized grapefruit though.

Excellent service from Frederick and Fernando. As customers who can change our mind, Frederick was graceful in moving us to the bar so that we could enjoy the happy hours discount and treats. Fernando served up a beautiful Frozen Gin Cocktail for me which was refreshing and delicious. Our food was good and wholesome. The restaurant was extremely clean and tidy. Staff made a big effort to make you welcome, whilst maintaining the best hygiene standards. Definitely one of the better places I have eating The USA. Thanks Team for a lovely afternoon. Nestled in the vibrant Dupont Circle area, Bistrot Du Coin is a charming French bistro that brings a slice of Paris to Washington, D.C. With its lively atmosphere adorned with vintage posters, this eatery serves up classic French and Belgian dishes that are sure to delight any palate. The menu features an array of delectable options, including their famous mussels served by the bucket and the must-try French Onion Soup that warms the soul.
4.5/5 stars. I dined alone while on a business trip and had a delightful experience. The food and wine were great, service excellent, and ambiance was vibrant. I appreciate restaurants that can comfortably accommodate single diners and aren’t overly attentive. I had the Roquefort salad and the steak maison and both were good, the salad especially. The steak tasted a little charred for my taste, but was cooked well and the accompanying fries were crispy and not too salty.
Kate B — Google review
Steak frites were just okay, it was cooked very well (I asked for medium and it was exactly that and tender), but the seasoning was a bit off-too much of a charcoal taste for my liking. Offering a side of Dijon mustard would’ve made it a little more authentic. The snails were excellent, and the rabbit in the rabbit stew was very tender, although it did get a bit rich towards the end. Ambiance is great, service is quick

French food finally impressed. Fantastic lamb stew. Do not expect much if you don’t eat meat or even if you don’t eat beef / pork. Ambiance is rather gray. Pricing is high. Good wine okay service (also cute little wine glasses!!)

The food was out of this world. The escargot and pate was superb. The drinks were good. The place was packed. We asked to sit upstairs. My boyfriend enjoyed the mussels. The service was good but slow because it was so crowded.

Someone recommended Bistrot Du Coin and I have to say we were not disappointed. Best meal we had in DC. The menu is both extensive and classic French bistro fare. We had escargots, mussels, and pate to start. My friends had the bouef bourguinon and steaks frites, while I had the cassoulet. They were all delicious. Ended the meal with the tarte tartine and mont blanc. We will definitely be back.

Very much was a welcoming place. Lots of seating and decorations. There was a ton of noise though that really made the mood lower since me and my plugs couldn't hear each other. Food was extremely good and I highly recommend it even if the price is really high. It almost made me excuse their fake French accents.

My husband and I went back for dessert after he'd had dinner there with coworkers. We ordered 3 items, but only 2 ever came. The wait for those 2 was a little long, bit nothing compared to how long we waited after finishing those before we realized that not only was our 3rd item not coming, but our server wasn't coming back either. I had to ask the host for our check. It was about 45 minutes before closing, so maybe that was a factor, the service had been better a couple hours before when my husband's work group had dinner. I did really enjoy the food. We had the profiteroles and the mont-blanc mouse. We had hoped to try the Crême Broulée but it never came.

Extremely disappointing experience at Bistrot du Coin this last weekend. Came for a birthday dinner, asked in the reservation notes for an “intimate table away from another two-top or a large party”. Host acknowledged the birthday…then tried to first seat us right next to another 2-top, then next to a 10-top, before we politely requested a table out of the way (though still in a clearly open section) which was reluctantly given. Pictures online are very misleading. Wall decor was crooked and placed thoughtlessly. Lighting was overly dimmed, not in an aesthetic way. Table “cloths” are cheap plastic and tacky. We tried the French onion soup to start, which was fine. We also had the potage parmentier which was runny and had diced tomatoes that tasted oddly like they were picked out of a precut box of pico de gallo…for entrees we had the boeuf bourguignon which was similarly unmemorable and was offered on pasta? The waiter did kindly offer mashed potatoes, though this was only served to the side and came a few minutes late. Vegetables were tender, meat was overcooked, sauce was fine. We also had the steak maison, which I ordered medium rare but was served medium well. Char on the steak was overpowering and the bernaise sauce was terrible (luckily to the side). Seemed like a fine quality of meat. Fries to the side were completely unsalted. I was charged $1.00 for a 2oz ramekin of mayonnaise (was not told upfront) and had to ask for ketchup. Drinks were also disappointing—a flat Diet Coke which the server almost refused to take away and insisted on getting “fresh” until I insisted it wouldn’t come out any differently since the CO2 was clearly out. A bland, unbranded Pinot noir that was fine and the Bisou de Paris, which was good if you like a dry champagne-based cocktail that isn’t overly sweet. Overall, I felt embarrassed to bring my partner here and completely misled by reviews, pictures, and descriptions. We didn’t even mention her birthday, since they clearly didn’t care, and just rushed to pay the bill and leave. I am leaving two stars because the service was passable and some elements of the food were fine. Maybe there are better menu options? I felt like these were pretty run-of-the-mill as far as starter and entree options go. I’m shocked why anyone would pay these prices for this quality of food and atmosphere when there are ample alternatives within walking or metro distance.

Purple Patch is a bi-level restaurant that offers a mix of American comfort food and Filipino specialties, along with herb-infused cocktails. The owner, Patrice Cleary, draws on her Filipino heritage to bring authentic flavors to the menu. With a background in the Marine Corps and experience in the restaurant industry, Cleary has created a welcoming space that serves up delicious dishes rooted in tradition. Customers praise the friendly staff, attentive service, and homey atmosphere at Purple Patch.
First time and the food was very tasty and the service was amazing! The drinks aren’t worth it though because it’s very very small for the value. Especially the one with the mango and rum. I would suggest a bottle of wine. We did that and it was good. The skewers are great and the pickled stuff it came with was good. The curry chicken was tasty but had way too much fat for boneless thighs. The eggplant adobo was fantastic! The bread pudding was rubbery and hard ish but the ice cream was great. I would highly recommend this place!
N T — Google review
Came here for dinner recently on a Saturday night—the restaurant is small but was crowded, I would suggest making reservations. The Arroz Caldo (rice soup with chicken) was so delicious! The crispy garlic gave the soup so much more flavor. Enjoyed the Spicy Adobe Fried Chicken Entrée—not really spicy, huge portion, and I wished the chicken was more crispy because the sauce made it soggy quick. Also preferred garlic rice versus the spicy adobe rice. Pork Sinigang and Pancit Canton were good too. For cocktails, was not a fan of the Ube Mojito—tasted bitter and lacked any sweet or carbonated taste. For dessert, the Warm Pandesal & Ube Ice Cream was okay. Service was good and food came out fairly quick. Prices seemed reasonable as well. Parking is difficult to find—all street parking so factor in time to find parking.

Unfortunately, my friend and I came here with high expectations since there were such great reviews. However, our brunch experience at Purple Patch was very disappointing. Firstly, the service was not great as we were rushed by our waitress to place our orders. Secondly, the food itself was shockingly flavorless — the chicken adobo was too salty and didn’t taste like adobo at all. The bread pudding dry, did not taste like ube, and was quite tiny for the price. I would say this is not the place to go for a brunch. I’m not sure if the dinner menu is better, but by these standards, I would not take a chance. I’m sure there are better Filipino restaurants in DC!

We haven't been back in nearly a decade. It doesn't even compare with the last experience. It was definitely more flavorful and authentic this time around. We had the lechon with crab fat, pan de sal sandwich with beef tapa and egg, Bicol express pork, garlic fried rice with egg, and their burger with the pan de sal bun. Adding crab dmfat on anything made a big difference. We enjoyed most of the dishes except the Bicol express. Will definitely return to try other dishes on the next visit.
Mark B — Google review
If you don't know what to get - I recommend asking the waiters. But beforewarned that if they recommend Sizzling Sisig that you may not like it if vinegar-y taste doesn't suit you. I enjoyed it but was it my favorite -nope. I keep forgetting that some Filipino foods have vinegar-y elements to them. If that's not your go to, ask for something that's sweeter (more Thai like) etc. the vibes overall was chill. Music playing and those on the TV if you're sitting at the bar aren't in sync so don't be surprised.

Purple Patch is just as good as my last visit in 2015, and after a decade it’s awesome to see a local Filipino spot be so busy and with a larger menu. I really appreciated the option to select your protein of choice for a few Pinoy classics like the Laing (we got it with mushrooms). The sinigang tasted like home, and the pork Bicol express was perfectly spicy and fatty. Last but not least, the ube banana bread was as delicious as before. We also got the ube tres leches cake topped with pineapple - such a good combo!

I have been hearing good things about this restaurant so I finally decided to try it out, but sadly ended up being a bit disappointed. The dinner started off great with the lumpia as an appetizer, I just wish that would have carried through the main dishes. I tried the pancit with chicken and had high hopes, however, it ended up being quite salty and dry. I think for how much we paid I just expected something a bit better. I would recommend the calamansi juice though!
Emilija F — Google review
I’m always very excited to try Filipino restaurants when I visit different cities. With this being rated so high, my expectations were up there. I thought the lumpia was okay. It was good, but nothing extraordinary. If anything, I’d say it was authentic. The same could be said for the pancit dish we ordered. It tasted exactly how I expected it to be, and I was pleased with it. Up to this point, I was decently pleased with the meal. Next was the ginataan. I was very disappointed in this dish. This is one of my favourite Filipino foods and I thought the squash and beans were way undercooked. The vegetables were still quite hard and tough to eat. I also thought the service when I was there was subpar. Our waitress seemed very all over the place and food was being brought to the wrong table on numerous occasions. I thought the restaurant itself looked nice and it was clean. It was also quiet enough to have conversations which was nice.

Ramen restaurant
Bantam King is a vibrant ramen and fried chicken spot located in the bones of a former Burger King. The restaurant offers a funky setting with Pop Art decor that pays homage to its predecessor. Specializing in chicken-based ramen, Bantam King presents various broth options, with the clear chintan standing out as a limited yet remarkable choice. Additionally, their southern American-style fried chicken has gained popularity, served with fixings for an all-inclusive experience.
Always good stop when you need fried chicken and hot ramen. All dishes are chicken or veggies. Although I prefer my ramen with pork I love this place and always coming back for more miso broth. Fried chicken as appetizer is a fight at the table every time. I guess next time we need to get more instead of sharing :) Bring your appetite!
Sabina K — Google review
I recommend the Nashville Hot Chicken, it’s halal and it was one of the best pieces of chicken. Sweet, spicy and crispy on the outside, hot and tender on the inside the perfect blend. The classic Soup and noodles were alright, get u full but nothing too special, reason why I gave 4 stars.
Zarrar M — Google review
Bantam King’s chicken-based menu consists of ramen and fried chicken. While the ramen broth lacks the depth and richness of pork-based broth, the Shoyu ramen ($15 plus tax) is nonetheless hearty and filling. The gyoza (4 pieces for $6.75) comes in a mild chili sauce. The service is very efficient. The interior has the vibe of a diner.
Augusto P — Google review
Service can be a bit slow, but I think that could be a testament to their popularity. Even in off peak times, this place has happy diners. They have the crunchiest, most delicious fried chicken in the city, and the ramen slaps too. Don’t forget to try the gyoza too (it’s hard to go wrong with gyoza, but their sauce is pretty memorable).
Kelsey J — Google review
The food was phenomenal. I saw this place on TikTok and decided to give it a go. The fried chicken was delicious and moist. The spicy miso ramen with extra toppings was also amazing. The place was really busy when we arrived we waited about 20min because other people said it was worth the wait. The staff was really friendly and had great customer service skills especially during peak hours dealing with tons of requests.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Delicious halal ramen! The broth was rich and flavorful, and the toppings were super fresh. Great service and clean place — definitely coming back!
Ammo J — Google review
A bowl that’s more Yankee than Nippon, Yet hearty and warmly well-done. It’s not ramen’s deep flair, But still comfort is there, A soothing, straightforward run. For seekers of broth rich and bold, Daikaya’s the story you’re told. But this spot’s fair price, And soup that’s quite nice, Make value its true vein of gold.
Dan M — Google review
Food was delicious, with generous portions, great flavors, and excellent service. The dining space isn’t too large, so I imagine it can get busy. Most of the menu outside of the gyoza is halal or can be prepared halal (removing the wine spray for the ramen). The dark meat fried chicken plate was excellent! The rice with chicken drippings and butter was a nice touch! Overall, I would definitely come back!

Greek restaurant
Restaurant
Greek Deli & Catering is a popular spot in Foggy Bottom, Washington DC, known for its classic Greek dishes and long lines during lunchtime. The founder, Kostas Fostieris, draws inspiration from his upbringing in the small hamlet of Sineti on the Greek island of Andros. The menu features comforting options like lemon-infused avgolemono soup, nutmeg-spiced pastitsio, moussaka, and spanakopita.
I’m Greek and this is the best Greek food in DC. Kostas is very friendly and kind. There is no indoor seating, there is some outdoor seating. It’s true to the word “deli”, you grab and go. I hope this establishment is here forever!!

Surrounded by many other restaurants, don't overlook this tiny Greek fast-casual restaurant with a large menu of all the usual Greek fixings. I ordered their traditional gyro and it was the perfect amount of food and quite tasty. Since they don't give cups of water, I bought two bottles of water. My bill came to over $21. They also have a small fridge area with other goods and drinks. Inside is one table that sits two.
Austin G — Google review
I used to go here all the time for lunch when I worked on K. I loved it! Everything I got was always amazing. I went back last week, and it wasn't as good. I used to get the gyro all the time and it was outstanding. The meat was tender and tasty, and on the pita with it was diced tomato, onion, and cucumber with fresh dill! The one I got last week was like any other gyro. The meat was good, though on the dry side. The tzatziki sauce seemed the same. On the pita with the meat, though, was just ice burg lettuce with a slice of onion and slice of tomato. It was fine, but not nearly as good.
Phil H — Google review
The traditional gyro is one of the best I've ever had - including when I went to Greece! Great spot for lunch. It's a little bit pricey, but for an independent restaurant with presumably expensive rent that has been here for 35 years, I'm happy to pay a little bit more than usual.
Sarah M — Google review
This is by far the most authentic Greek food I’ve had in DC. Tastes like something my grandparents would make, authentic flavors, I’m really impressed. It’s so hard to find casual and good quality Greek food here, and I feel like I’ve just found a gem! I got a plate with rice, lamb and okra. Delicious and again I can’t say enough, authentic as it can get.
Anna S — Google review
One of my favorite lunch spots in the downtown area - the gyro is absolutely to die for. I do wish prices were slightly lower (gyros start at $16), but I also understand it’s an independent restaurant in a high-rent area of DC. The owners are super sweet as well
Analise H — Google review
I bought a Greek Salad w/meat. The WORST GREEK SALAD I EVER HAD!! First, they use iceberg lettuce! The worst lettuce in the world with no flavor or vitamins/minerals in it at all. For the price, we could at least have a better upgrade of lettuce! Second, there were only 2 small olives, 2 banana peppers, NO onions! Really! The salad dressing was TASTELESS and had absolutely NO (greek) vinagarette flavor at all, very horrible. The greek (white/yogurt) sauce was also TERRIBLE, absolutely NO flavor. And the price was $15.99. WOW. What a horrible salad! Never again!!!! The previous owners of this restaurant did not have a problem with their salads, at least they tasted Greek. I wouldn't dare try a real meal item with the prices they charge. HORRIBLE SALAD MAKERS!!

Oyster bar restaurant
Bar
Rappahannock Oyster Bar is a casual, glass-enclosed stop located at The Wharf in DC, offering a variety of oysters and raw shellfish, as well as burgers, craft beers, and cocktails. The oyster bar features three types of oysters with distinct flavors. It is the first and only DC outpost from the Rappahannock Oyster team, known for producing over 1 billion bivalves a year.
We visited a couple of days ago, and the food was absolutely incredible! The large seafood tower was perfect to share among three. Levi went above and beyond to take care of us, even though we were having a bit too much fun and may have been a little loud (sorry, Levi!). Despite our excitement, Levi handled everything with such grace and professionalism—we truly appreciate it. The restaurant was a bit quiet that evening, which probably made our energy stand out even more, but we had such a wonderful time. Thank you for a great experience! The drinks at the bar were also amazing, I didn’t get the bartender’s name but my husband was VERY happy with his martini :)

Every single dish was delicious. The Chesapeake raw oysters were amazing. Enjoyed the oysters Rockefeller, mussel pasta which my partner said was one of the best sauces he has ever tasted, and the crab cake was one of the largest I had which I partner enjoyed and he normally doesn’t like crab cakes. Great wine and ambiance.

So delicious!!! We stopped here for some oysters before catching our Uber, & it lived up to the reviews! I ordered the Rockefeller Oysters🦪🦪, and they were very seasoned and cooked just how I like them! The bartenders were very friendly also. I only ordered the oysters, so I can't comment on the drinks.. but they sounded delicious & I appreciated their fun names. I'm not from here, but if I'm ever in the DC area again, I'll make it a point to stop in again!🦪😋🦪

Really good birthday dinner! I'm pretty good with a vibe next to the water while enjoying seafood. Our bartender/server was very accommodating and made sure I was happy during our visit. We started with the grilled octopus, 6 raw oysters & 6 rockefeller - atleast an 8 across the board - everything was pretty standard. The crabcakes, thai lettuce wraps, combo baskets and Branzino get two thumbs up for flavor and portions. For cocktails, I wasn't a huge fan of the Forbidden Zone and Summer in Dogtown because the mezcal was overpowering but the Seasonal Sangria (Peach) was perfect! Although the weather was terrible, we had a few minutes of calm to enjoy the scene and our food without chaos. I would definitely consider this a top choice for a view and vibes.

I had a solo dinner at the bar during work trip. I had a half dozen oysters and a shrimp po’ boy. The food was great and the atmosphere was laid back. It was a welcome respite from some of the busier, noisier bars and grills on the waterfront.

We only stopped in for cocktails, but we loved the delicious and interesting drinks and the relaxed vibe. Highly recommend the whiskey rhubarb cocktail and their daily fresh sangria. Will definitely visit again for food!

The culinary experience was underwhelming. I ordered the Rappahannock raw oysters and the spinach baked oysters. Unfortunately, both dishes failed to meet expectations. I was genuinely disappointed, as I had been anticipating a superior oyster experience. While the Aguachiles were flavorful, they lacked avocado and depth of flavor. The main course resembled spaghetti soup, which was unappetizing. The shrimp and mussels were overcooked. The beverages were not satisfactory, they had a bitter taste.

New American restaurant
Fine dining restaurant
Gravitas, a restaurant located in Washington D.C., embodies dignity and seriousness, as suggested by its name. Chef Matt Baker leads the kitchen in creating New American tasting menus with locally sourced ingredients, particularly highlighting the bounty of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The industrial-chic venue, once a tomato cannery in Ivy City, offers a minimalist yet modern space with exposed brick.
First let me start with the ambience, walking in you get a very warm homely feeling, staff is generous and greeting with smiles, the open kitchen brings comfort. The drinks are just amazingly mixed to perfection and strong! The menu items are explained eloquently and with precise detail of the combinations. When the 1st course came out it was a display of art, then the taste comes and its like fireworks go off in your mouth as the different flavors cross your palette perfectly! The main dish (Wagyu) was tender and paired well with its sidekicks! The 3rd course (Pasta) was lemony fresh and had the perfect texture, by this time i was full but the 4th course (a Strawberry Dessert ) was just amazing to the point where i still indulged and cleaned the plate! You leave this place thinking it was more of an experience more so than a dinner outing! The rooftop for a nightcap was breathtaking and romantic! Definitely will be returning over and over again! Gravitas is seriously enjoyable!

I went here for restaurant week and was not disappointed, despite the typical drop in service and quality. Everything was amazing, especially the desserts! I also love the atmosphere in here. The earthy, industrial vibes were fantastic. I don’t remember everything we ordered and the most memorable part of the meal was how expansive the offerings were. Everything from the bread, to the sashimi, the chicken, and the dessert, were unbelievable. The menu will certainly change by the time you try them, but you definitely should. I can’t wait to go back!

Phenomenal experience - we did the 6 course tasting with the paired wine!!! Our server and sommelier were very knowledgeable and catered towards our taste too! We had a complimentary glass of champagne with our amuse bouche!
Baljit S — Google review
We opted for Gravitas for our Anniversary dinner and it was a lovely experience. Obtaining a reservation went smoothly and our table was ready at our reservation time. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled. It is a bit difficult to find the entrance, but once inside, the decor is stylish, modern, and on the casual side of fine dining. We chose the 4 course dining experience and it was phenomenal. It was nice that there was a bit of choice (and we spread out our choices so that we could taste everything). My personal highlights included: Yellowfin Tuna Sashimi, Spring Vegetable Salad, Maryland Crab Spaghetti “Limone”, and the Sourdough Crusted Lamb Loin My only "complaint" is that the portions were on the large side, so even with only the 4 course, it was quite difficult to find room for all of the delicious food. I appreciated the ambiance. There was good, natural light. Fun pop music at a volume that still encouraged conversation, and a restroom at ground level. I dropped a star for atmosphere because the tables were slightly crowded together and it would have been nice to have more than one bathroom at the ground level- there's not a comfortable spot to wait for the restroom to open up. The beverages were interesting with a good heavy pour. This is a lovely special occasion restaurant.
Angela D — Google review
First of all. The atmosphere is amazing! Very well moderated interior design. The drink was great, our service was excellent and absolutely amazing. But we had to be honest, we were slightly disappointed with the food quality. They were not bad, but also not great. I would say they were not well balanced between the spices. We did the 4- courses tasting menu. the tuna sashimi was a bit overly soaked in the sauce, a bit too salty too. The pasta was super sour, it hit really hard and you can barely taste anything else. The Lamb loins were over spiced with the rosemary, if you enjoyed very much then it would be great, if not that’ll be another case. The foam with veggies dish was my top recommendation. Overall, the experience was good, but I was not impressed by the food.

We loved Gravitas. The food was delicious, from the bread to dessert. Dishes were plated beautifully and our waiters explained each dish to us. Great creativity translated to delicious food. The sear on the Salmon was perfect. *Recommendation to add some sign to identify the location*

Had a wonderful anniversary dinner there. Food was super tasty, the team was just lovely, and the chef was super kind and took time to ask for feedback. Definitely worth a trip to visit for an elevated everyday meal or a special occasion.
Carey Z — Google review
Moderately disappointed by the food. Kitchen felt dysfunctional because every dish came out lukewarm as if they had been sitting for a good 20 minutes before being served. It’s especially bad for the foie gras and the pasta because without the right temperature they just taste like greasy mess. And the whole meal took 3 hours which averaged out to 25 min wait time per dish. With just 3-4 tables of guests the entire night, the restaurant wasn’t even busy. The palate cleanser took 30 minutes to serve, and it was just one scoop of sorbet. Surely it doesn’t take that long to scoop the sorbet? The branzino was decent. Skin was perfectly crispy and the rice stuffed squash was delicious. I was surprised by how bad the strawberry dessert turned out. The super sour lemon jelly ruined it for me. And the corn bread was very bland and didn’t work.

Soupergirl is a vibrant take-out spot in Washington, DC that offers a delightful selection of vegan and kosher soups, fresh salads, and homemade breads. Their menu features dishes made with locally sourced seasonal ingredients, ensuring both delicious and healthy options. Customers can enjoy the $10 small soup and salad combo at various farmers markets or visit their brick-and-mortar location at Dupont Circle during the winter months. The rotating weekly variety of soups and salads guarantees something for everyone's taste.
Great selection of vegan soups. Not overly priced for a much better product. Frankly, I should just get lunch here all of the time since it's probably healthier than everything else in the area. I am also thrilled to support a women-owned business in the area.

I am vegan and only like creamy soups which can often be hard to come by, well not for Soupergirl! I tried there pureed creamy Pumpkin and Mushroom soup and it was amazing! Can't wait to try more!

Was trying to find kosher places in DC. Found this place and decided to try it out. Was super happy with my choice. The soups were amazing, the salads were interesting and fresh, and the sandwiches were also really good. Was perfect for me before heading to the airport on the way out of town. Thanks Soupergirls! :)

Small, clean space that's take-out only. They have 3-4 fresh soups made, and offerings change daily. (They also have salads and bread, but I haven't tried those.) I'd like to go to this place more often, to support a local vegetarian restaurant, but $6.64 for a medium pot of soup just seems like a bit of an indulgence.

I'm not vegan but my cousin is so that why we went here... There is not much seating but it has a reasonable price so be ready for carry out (there is a nice fence to sit on outside) I recommend the peanut noodles or what ever (my cousin got a soup but didnt really like it)

The soups and salads here are SOUPER healthy and delicious! I usually get the $10 small soup and salad combo at the farmers markets at White House (Thurs) and at City Center (Tue). When the farmers markets are closed during the winter, I trek all the way to the brick and mortar location at Dupont Circle. I love the variety of soups and salads, they rotate every week. You can't go wrong with any flavor. I tried at least a dozen different soups and salads and can't think of one that I didn't like. The lentil soup and pureed butternut squash are my favorite while I love the kale date salad. The salads are good in the refrigerator for a couple of days while the soups keep well for a week. The soup and salads are also very healthy and filling. I get pretty full after having a small soup, great way to cleanse your body (much better than smoothie cleanses). Lots of nutrients with little carbs and no sugar. As a tip, on Tuesdays at the Takoma/Dupont Circle stores, you can get a free soup or salad if you spend $25 and get a stamp for every $10 you spend.
Aarti B — Google review
I like Soupergirl's food and I eat there regularly, but lately their offerings have not been so fresh. The other day I got a cornbread muffin that was wet and vinegary and on a different occasion a beet gazpacho that tasted fermented/carbonated. And I eat this stuff on a normal basis so I know what a good blend tastes like. Each time the employees looked at me like I was absolutely crazy and there couldn't be anything wrong with the food. Isolated incidents, maybe? Anybody else having similar experiences? With only a few soups and bread on the menu, they ought to be knocking it out of the park every time.

Everything is vegan and kosher. Variety of soups each day. Corn bread is yummy too. Standing bar only, no seats. Staff is very helpful and friendly.

Oyamel Cocina Mexicana is an upscale and vibrant restaurant located in Penn Quarter, part of chef Jose Andres's renowned collection of dining establishments. The menu draws inspiration from the diverse culinary scene of Mexico City, offering a variety of creative Mexican tapas, street food, and flavorful cocktails.
Really delicious food, lots of small plates to share. Much more variety than you would get in an average Mexican restaurant. Our favourite was the cauliflower dish. Very busy and loud, creates a good atmosphere but would definitely recommend booking. We came for my parents anniversary and they gave us a small glass of Prosecco each which was a nice gesture.

Oyamel is definitely worth a stop when you are in DC! 🌟 The service is always top notch and the food is simply delicious 😋. I also love their attention to folks with allergies and dietary restrictions! They have an entire menu indicating which dishes are allergen friendly! Can't recommend it enough!

Good guac and chips with your choice of spice level. Plenty of small plates that are big enough to share. I often come for the tacos that don’t disappoint. Good Mexican option when down in Penn Quarter attending a show or just walking around.

Was Recommended this place because of the world renowned chef. I knew I would love this place when I saw the sign.. "No hay vida sin Tacos" translation." Not eating tacos is a sin" Or that's what my life motto is... The atmosphere was enchanting, the service was amazing, the food was exquisite, my taste buds where delighted to have such rich flavor that went beyond basic seasonings. I really wanted to order the 4 course meal.. I was torn between ordering 7 dollar tacos.. and other seafood dishes. I went with the Brisket plate, and it came with purple tortillas. Everyone I was with said the brisket was amazing. I also shared a Coctel de Camaron and un Tecate. I will be coming back to this crown jewel next time, and will have to explore the chefs other 2 restaurants on the same street.

Fantastic spot for tacos and margaritas! The carnitas tacos were juicy and flavorful, and the salt foam margarita was a fun, tasty twist. Loved starting with fresh chips and dip before ordering! The staff were friendly and super knowledgeable, and everything was clean and inviting. The area may be a bit quiet, but inside it’s all good vibes and great food!

Time after time, the food and service (thanks James!) at Oyamel is fantastic, and I love their new rotating menu. If you're a Shakespeare Theater subscriber or donor, you can also get a free margerita the day of a show with your Bard card and tickets. We love going after a matinee when it's not too busy (still good to make a reservation).

1st time here. My partner had a mushroom taco. Size wise small. Taste was good. Tortillas soup. Portions generous. Flavors very good. I had Albondigas Enchipotladas Basically housemate meatballs in a tomato bisque sauce with queso fresco cheese. It was very good except portions. Only 5 meatballs. Price $11. Averages to $2. Something per meatball. Flavors everything was there.

I had my eye on this place for a long time, and it did not disappoint! Washington, DC has no shortage of incredible Mexican spots, so the bar is high - but this restaurant definitely left a mark on my heart. The guacamole is perfection, the ceviche is bright and refreshing, and the tacos are simply wonderful. Can’t wait to come back!

Central Michel Richard is a convivial bistro that offers a blend of American and French cuisine. The restaurant, named after its renowned chef and located centrally near The National Mall and Smithsonian museums, presents a mix of American favorites like crabcakes and hamburgers alongside French classics such as trout almondine. Despite the fusion of cuisines, one must not overlook their famed fried chicken plate.
Across the board the food was delicious. Fried chicken was second to none. Mashed potatoes were a dream. Hangar steak was phenomenal. Drinks were also top notch. Fig old fashioned and the Michel Cosmo... Yum!

I had a wonderful time dining on the outside terrace here on a warm early summer afternoon. The view of the Waldorf Astoria and people watching along with the great wine selections made for a very enjoyable experience. The service was perfect and the 3 hours I relaxed her melted away into a series of perfect moments. The Fried Chicken was amazing!!!

I've never been disappointed in this restaurant. Everything is always spot on perfect. My girlfriend said the chicken nuggets have now ruined her, as she will not be able to enjoy "normal" nuggets again. The risotto croquettes are tiny fried balls of truffled heaven.

An unforgettable meal! The steak was, without a doubt, one of the best I've ever had—perfectly cooked (medium rare), incredibly juicy, and packed with flavor. An absolute must-order. I can't wait to come back!

Was on our hit list as it received great reviews. Stopped by for a quick lunch. We had the tarte Alsaciennene, beef tartare, and steak frites. Great flavors with the steak and tarte. The tarte reminded me of a smaller and thinner version of the German flammkuchen. Looks like an extensive wine and cocktail list. Conveniently located on Pennsylvania avenue—the heart of DC.

Fantastic happy hour, highly recommend. The food was delicious and great quality. Chicken nuggets were fancy and so yummy as were the oysters and Gruyère cheese puffs. I would definitely come back.

Wow! I was extremely impressed with everything about this restaurant. The Chicken nuggets were the best I ever had, and the prime burger and fries was outstanding. Since the entrees were so spectacular we got desert which was well worth it. Vanilla Ice Cream with a special request of chocolate syrup. Also, the chocolate bar with hazel nut desert was recommended by our attendant and it was well worth it. Well done, Chefs! The staff went over and above the call of duty to make sure our meal was very pleasant. I wanted a 'root beer' and the waiter found a bottle of the best root beer I ever drank. The staff were so very friendly and easy going while being very helpful and attentive. The restaurant both outside and inside was clean and very nicely decorated with a great environment. This was definitely the most delicious food I've found while visiting Washington DC area along with the best dining environment and staff. Well done, Owner/managers. Highly recommended!

If you’re looking for a great place to have brunch you found it. The staff is wonderful, ask for Miguel. The food is incredible. Josh and I had such a good time for our first time in DC. Get an espresso and an everything bagel with smoked salmon. Great way to start the day!

This is my first time going to Bistro Bis, as it's not in my typical price range. I went there after work with a few coworkers. The food and atmosphere was great with excellent service. We had a few appetizers for the table and I opted for the lamb shank.

Don't believe the hype. IG fooled me! I went here for brunch and was extremely disappointed. There was no live jazz music, the service was horrible, and food mid at best. I had 10:15 am reservations and was told by my waiter the bartender isn't there and would arrive in 30 mins. The bartender got there an hour later, and we were lied to about receiving complementary drinks. The food was cold. My appetizer came out after my entrée. Do not get the shrimp & grits, it has an eerie aftertaste!
Keven C — Google review
We went there during restaurant week for brunch. Everything was good, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was great. Our server was friendly and on time. I love it there and would go back for sure. The only reason I gave it 4 was because our server told us the champaign is $40 and he would give us some orange juice so we can make mimosa for ourself, however when the bill came, he charged us $56! When we asked why $56, he said $40 was the bottle the rest was the service for the Champagne and glasses and orange juice! I didn’t argue just because he was nice and the food was good otherwise I would have asked for manager.

Spacious and quiet place that's very nice for business meetings. I really enjoyed their steak tartare, one of the best I've had. The service was attentive and polite and food was served pretty fast.

Went here for an anniversary weekend. We both started with the Shellfish Bisque. Wife had the Beef Bourguignon and the fruit tart for dessert. I had the Duck Confit and the apple pastry. The food was excellent! Well seasoned, properly prepared. Just a joy you experience. Our server was engaging, attentive, & funny. Overall it was a really nice vibe with the music in th e background, a few people at the bar, and convenient since we were staying at The George. Oh, before I forget, I had the absolute best Mexcal White Negroni there that I would go back for alone. Everything was on point, even though nothing was planned. We truly enjoyed our experience at Bistro Bis.

Appetizers are the best! We ordered beef tartare and escargot, which are good looking and tasteful. The entree is too much for me.. I can only eat one third of it.. Such an american style! It seems like a newly decorated place and the sofa is comfortable.

The food here is absolutely delectable. I highly suggest the steak. There are few steaks I would give a one hundred percent rating to, and this is one of them. It rivaled the ones I had in Florence, Italy. The service was immaculate, and the waitstaff top notch.

Modern French restaurant
Coffee shop
Café du Parc is an elegant spot offering inventive takes on French classics, with a sprawling terrace featuring big blue umbrellas near The White House. Located at the Willard InterContinental hotel, it's recommended by Forbes Travel Guide and offers excellent breakfast options such as coffee and decadent omelets. The restaurant provides a perfect al fresco locale for people-watching and sightseeing while enjoying French-inspired fare, from croque madame to mussels and beef bourguignon.
We’ve dined at this restaurant multiple times whenever we visit Washington with our kids, and we are always satisfied. The kids' portions are perfectly balanced. For example, one of our kids had a steak, and the other had salmon. The portions are just right for children, and the price of $14–16 per dish is excellent. The French soup was amazing; we didn’t even manage to take a photo for the review because it was gone so quickly! Everything else was also delicious and well-prepared. We’ll definitely be back!
Marina G — Google review
Café du Parc is one of those places that I MUST go to EVERY time I’m in DC and dream about when I’m not there. The food is amazing, the service is fantastic, and the atmosphere is just exquisite. We’ve been to Café du Parc for Breakfast and Lunch (can’t wait to go for tea or dinner one day) and have always left happy and fully satisfied. This time around we got the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict which was a great balance for salty, creamy, and soft. We also got the omelette which comes with the choice of one protein (we went with ham) and as any of the veggie options as you wanted (we chose all of them). It was super filling without feeling heavy. The breakfast potatoes came with both meals and were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We ordered the orange juice and while I LOVED that it had pulp, I know others don’t so keep that in mind if you decide to get it. Overall, this is one of my favorite restaurants and I can’t wait to go back to DC just to eat here!
Merytel R — Google review
French food is ooh la la! From escargot to the french croissant and chocolate mousse, everything here has been divine to my taste buds. The coffee is not cheap. It is top quality. You can sit outside on the patio and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Who knows, you may come across someone famous!

We went for Sunday brunch and had the eggs benedict, French onion soup, house salad, and a kids roast salmon. Everything was very tasty and we were particularly impressed with the presentation and quality of the kids meal with the mashed potatoes and green beans. The environment was lovely and classy, with attentive friendly service. A very enjoyable break from our sightseeing for the day.

Beautiful, quiet spot with great food located in a gorgeous hotel a few steps away from the White House. There are options for everyone, including the kids (I personally got an item from kid’s menu, salmon with potatoes, so good!). The French onion soup was delicious. Service is great and food comes out quickly. Would definitely visit again.

We were walking back towards our hotel when we passed by this spot. We were seated right away outside (our choice) and chose to participate in their Restaurant Week menu. Ended up sharing french onion soup/crab cakes + ny strip/scallops + creme brûlée/peach basil tart. It was a great menu deal and atmosphere outside. Pleasantly surprised!
Taylor F — Google review
I settled on the eggs benedict with smoked salmon. The food was great, the poached eggs were just about 30 seconds under cooked. The experience itself was amazing. The restaurant was gorgeous, but the service could use improvement. There were approximately 5 people serving. We had 3 tables around us that were still waiting to be served and they were having a talk with one another the whole time. My table sat without filled waters for at least minimum 15 minutes. I give them credit, all servers were dressed amazing, and when they were serving it was great. Overall, it is pricey but I wiuld recommend everyone give it a try. Having mediocre service could have been caused by it being the end of their day, so you might get great service!!!! We'll worth a try!!!
T T — Google review
I hit up Café du Parc at 1401 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC, for a bite, and it was a solid experience with some real French vibes right by the White House. This place, tucked into the Willard InterContinental, feels like a Parisian café with a DC twist. I grabbed a spot on their outdoor terrace, which was awesome—great views of Pershing Park and the World War I Memorial. It’s perfect for people-watching with a coffee in hand. The inside’s nice too, but the terrace is where it’s at on a good day. For food, I went with the salmon tartine and the crab cakes. The tartine was fresh and light, with perfectly smoked salmon on crusty bread, topped with just enough dill and cream to make it pop without being heavy. The crab cakes were a win—crispy outside, tender inside, and packed with crab, not filler. The remoulade sauce had a nice kick. I was tempted by the crème brûlée for dessert but passed since I was stuffed. The menu’s got other solid options like steak frites and salads, plus a kids’ menu if you’re with family. Service was mostly on point. Our server was friendly, and you can tell folks like Juan, who’s been there forever, know their stuff. That said, it took a minute to get my iced tea refilled, which was a bit annoying but not a big deal. Drinks were good—I had a French-inspired cocktail that went well with the meal, though it was a tad pricey for the size. The vibe’s lively, but it can get loud indoors, which might bug you if you’re after something chill. Prices are what you’d expect for a fancy spot in this location—not cheap, but the quality’s there. I heard a grumble from another table about a server pushing for a bigger tip, but my bill was fine. Overall, Café du Parc’s a great pick for a nice lunch or dinner with a view. The food’s legit, the terrace is a gem, and it’s got that French charm. I’d give it a 5 out of 5 and will probably swing back for their brunch.

Seafood restaurant
Hank's Oyster Bar is a seafood restaurant that originated in the District of Columbia and has since expanded to Virginia, Maryland and now opened its fourth location on The Wharf in central Portsmouth. The restaurant offers fresh oysters by the half-dozen for dine-in, takeout, or delivery for prices starting at $18. They have an extended patio that stretches into the street for outdoor dining.
Foods are good, we ordered all the specials of the days and weren't disappointed. Seafood pasta was loaded with shrimp, calamari and scallops. Grilled oysters are good, but kinda expensive

I recently dined at this restaurant and had mixed feelings about the experience. On the positive side, the food was absolutely excellent—flavorful, well-presented, and clearly made with care. The location was beautiful, and with the perfect weather that day, the overall setting was truly enjoyable. However, the service left a lot to be desired. When I asked a staff member who seemed to be the bartender for a glass of wine, she responded in a surprisingly rude and dismissive way, telling me to speak to my waiter or waitress instead. It felt unnecessarily arrogant and unhelpful, especially coming from someone working there. To be fair, our waiter was polite and seemed like he was doing his best, but it was clear he was under pressure. He checked in every 10 minutes with a rushed “Is everything okay?” and didn’t have time to actually engage with us. It felt more like he was following orders than offering genuine hospitality. For a bill that totaled $266, I expected a more relaxed and attentive dining experience. If you guys are in such a hurry, maybe consider opening a food truck instead at least then the rushed pace would make sense. It’s a shame because the food, ambiance, and weather made for what could have been a perfect meal. If the management gave their staff more time and support to focus on guests, this place could easily become a favorite. But as it stands, I left feeling brushed off, and that made the whole experience fall short of its potential.

Hanks was great. We had the calamari and shrimp for an appetizer and shared the crab cakes. I would recommend both. We also had their “homemade” seltzers which were very good. We sat outside and had a great evening. The service was very good. Will be going back when in DC.

The service is almost a little bit too laid back for what you're paying for. Although staff members are nice, they don't really answer phones. The food is amazing, but you have to go into it knowing that it's expensive but also kind of laid back in a way. Needless to say, the people eating here at a very high tax bracket, but the oysters were amazing!!!!

Came to DC for the memorial weekend. One stop on my many adventures between DC and MD was this restaurant. And I am glad I did. Me and my guest did not have a reservation so we opted to sit at the bar until a table was available. We came on a Saturday during brunch. The hostess was pleasant but Chad stole the show. His drinks were amazing. Mine was one he made up and it was sooooo good. Food was fresh and served quickly. Flavors were also on point. Our server was friendly and had excellent oyster recommendations. Very good. I definitely recommend and would come back.

The Wharf is a must when visiting D.C. We ordered a few small plates to share. We started with a variety of three different oysters. We then had the lobster deviled eggs, which didn't taste very much like there was any lobster in it. We then had the crab, octopus, and the watermelon burrata salad. The Rum punch cocktail was refreshing. We sat outdoors, but when the sun was directly on us we asked to move tables. The waiter asked us to move, and he didn't move our stuff for us. It was kind of disappointing, especially since it was not a fast food place. Service definitely can improve in that regard.

I was with a party of 8 and it was our first visit. The food was delicious, however, I do not believe they are equipped to handle larger parties. We waited quite some time for water, drink orders and food. The servers were walking around as if they did not know which tables to serve. Overall, once we did receive service…..it was good. I would definitely try it again. I ordered the shrimp and crab salad….so delicious!

Founding Farmers Nice place to gather after a busy day viewing museums. The location was easy to find. The Labor Day holiday allowed free and easy access to street parking. The restaurant is spacious and inviting with a nice outdoor patio area. Service was prompt and friendly. Their lunch/ dinner menu was quite extensive. I did wish was that the music was toned down in volume. Their menu was quite extensive and the prices seemed about par for the area. The fried green tomatoes was ok, but I would have liked a lighter touch to the batter that was used. I had the Shrimp and Grits, Andouille which was a bit salty and the portion of grits was quite meager. But everyone completed their meal and were well filled. I hear their brunch is quite popular.

We did brunch buffet this past weekend and to he honest it was alright. We went there 11:30sh and most of the food are not getting refilled or they take long to refill. Location: It is located along Massachusetts Avenue. There is a lot of seatings inside and the main buffet spot is in the middle. Service: the guy served us was good. Food: to be honest the food was alright. It is a hit and missed. Most of the food trays are empty so you have to go back twice or trice to check if they refill it which they don’t. My favorites were the ribs, roast beef, beignet which you must get!!! Otherwise other food is generic. Also not much choices for a $45 dollar buffet. Price rating: 9/10. We pay $110 for 2 people including tips. It is probably worth it if they refill food quickly. Will probably not come back for buffet here, maybe regular menu is better.

Dining experience went well. We had the brunch buffet. The Southern fried chicken and the mashed potatoes were definitely my favorite. There were several items that were overcooked (Chinese fried chicken, bourbon like chicken, fried shrimp, the glazed salmon and catfish. Sacha, our server, was great. She was attentive and knowledgeable. We even tried some a la carte items that we did not really care for (the crab dip). The cheesy buckwheat grits were “different.” They tasted good but the texture was not that of your normal grits.

My husband and I stopped here for an early lunch on a Sunday. There were a few groups waiting to be seated at a table when we walked in, but we were able to find some open seats at the bar. It was very lively with the breakfast/brunch bar, but we decided to order coffees and sandwiches. I got a hot mocha with no whip, while my husband ordered an iced vanilla latte. Both were ridiculously good, nice espresso-forward flavors without being overly sweet. The sandwiches look so unassuming (my husband had the pastrami and I had the turkey BLT), but are huge and sooooo good. Hand cut fries were delicious and the onion rings are massive, yet so soft and crispy! Definitely no biting into these onion rings where the whole onion pulls away from the breading. We both were only able to eat half of our meals at the time, but they also packed well to-go and ate nicely after sitting in the fridge for a bit. Definitely a spot we’ll pop into again when we’re in the area!

This place was okay. The service was a bit shotty because the restaurant is super busy. I could tell that our waiter was a bit irritated sometimes but overall our group had a good experience. I had the drunken noodles but I didn’t feel they were that great. It was very oily and I pretty much only ate the onions and protein in it. The biscuit was really good but they definitely came out cold.

The shrimp appetizer, which I usually wouldn't go for, had the perfect crunch with a sweet-savory glaze—I’d buy the sauce on its own if I could. The lamb chops were hands down the best I've ever had—tender, flavorful, and simply incredible. Andy, our server, was an absolute sweetheart. His attentiveness added a personal touch, and the cozy, Christmas-decorated atmosphere made the place feel like home. The food, the service, and the ambiance were all top-notch, making for an unforgettable experience. The only slight critique I have is the drink menu. I prefer sweeter drinks, and none of the options quite fit that preference—they leaned more toward the drier side. A few sweeter cocktails and mocktails would make this place perfect. Still, I’m surprised it’s not packed every day—this place is truly a hidden gem!

All of the staff were super friendly. We definitely felt under dressed. I got the eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon. There wasn't much hollandaise sauce, so it was a bit dry and the Smoked Salmon was strong. Their potatoes and veggies needed seasoning. My daughter enjoyed her french toast. For basic Brunch, it was pricey. Not everything they offer is on the menu, we had to ask about juice and coffee.

This was a good brunch spot. The food was wonderfully made. Their club sandwich was the best. The French toast was my favorite. The Mimosa was the finishing touch for my breakfast. The waitress was friendly and attentive.

Firefly is a cozy little spot that I found on Google and decided to try because it was close to another spot that we were planning on visiting. Firefly is situated in the beautiful neighborhood of DuPont circle ( I think 👀). It's small but inviting. The customer service is great. The food is decent. We visited on a Sunday and I thought that we would have full range to the breakfast and brunch menu but that wasn't the case. However they allowed me to order that American style breakfast which is not normally offered on the weekend. So customer service is 5/5. I gave the food a 4/5 only because nothing was seasoned. However it was served hot and fast. The portion size is decent. But if you like the feeling of being FULL you might wanna go somewhere else. I hope this is helpful.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes to all of it 7 days a week. Staff is lovely and diverse. Very attentive. And service was fast. They e en thought of adding an Easter bunny for Easter. Very nice. Quaint. Not assuming. Not too sterile. It was just right. Had the biscuit benedict. Poached eggs could have been cooked a lot less, but maybe bird flu is a factor. Lovely potatoes I did not expect.

Well hello DC. I stopped by Firefly while passing through. It was an early Saturday morning but the staff made it feel like afternoon. The wait staff is welcoming and charismatic. Offered information on some quick sightseeing. Then the drinks and food came. I was not disappointed. I love corned beef hash and eggs for a Saturday lunch. This is not your diner variety though. This was gentrified to match the restaurant and neighborhood. Home made and fresh. No greasiness to it at all. My husband had the shrimp and grits. This is his favorite weeknd breakfast. He was also very pleasantly surprise with this upscale take a classic comfort food. Cocktails were pleasing to the eye and taste buds. Everything was seasoned just right. Will visit again when visiting DC.

Pros: Great service and very cute interior! Cons: the brunch menu was quite limited, the food was also quite basic unfortunately and lacked flavor. We got the corned beef hash which was a bit smaller than expected for $24 and the veggie omelet. Unfortunately the meals were nothing special. Might be a good sport to grab a quick drink at the bar but food wise..not impressed.

French restaurant
Restaurant
La Chaumiere is a rustic French restaurant located in Georgetown, known for its traditional French cuisine and charming ambiance. The name, meaning 'cottage,' perfectly reflects the cozy atmosphere with a central stone fireplace, wood beams, and stucco walls reminiscent of a French country inn. The menu offers expertly crafted dishes that showcase the excellence of French delicacies. Guests rave about the ethereal Grand Marnier Souffle, which leaves them longing for more with its lightness.
The restaurant is very cozy, with a fire in the center as the name suggests. The menu specializes in French cuisine, and everything I have tried is exquisite. There are daily specials, and the staff is very helpful if you ask them for advice on what to eat based on your personal preferences. I recommend you make reservations, as it can get busy.

A hidden gem for old school French cooking with a atmosphere that takes you out of the chaos of DC and into a quiet French lodge back in time. We came for a girls’ dinner and all enjoyed the 3 course special, all loving the flavors and quality of each course. The atmosphere and attention of the staff really ales this place special, I hope they never change!

This is my first French restaurant in a very long time and it didnt disappoint. For me beyond finding delicious food, I'm always looking for a place that enhances the experience whether it began an outing with friends or your partner. I highly recommend this place for partner vibes. It is elegant and cozy and of course from the food to drinks is amazing. For me the price makes this a once in awhile experience but when it occurs it will be delightful.
KAMAHL R — Google review
Unfortunately we were underwhelmed by our experience at La Chaumiere. A friend recommended it based on his experiences in March 2024, where he and his partner are there two nights in a row because it was so good. We ordered dishes that were fairly technique heavy and the technical skill fell flat. Our pike dumplings (which I was so delighted to see on the menu) were not actually individual quenelles, but rather a small casserole of very light and delicate custard. The flavor was good, but they were incredibly salty (even for my salt heavy chefs palate). Our boudin blanc was also off in texture. Rather than having the fine, smooth, texture that’s a hallmark of emulsified sausages it was coarse and the casing was inordinately tough. The entrees (calves liver and sweetbreads) were fine, but the sweetbreads were pretty under seasoned. Our service was pretty bleak. We sat outside, which might have been part of it, but our table wasn’t properly set and never really corrected. Staff didn’t clear items off the table as the rest of the meal came out, so I resorted to placing things like the empty bread basket and a spare bread plate that we never needed in the first place on the neighboring table once the guests there left. I really hope they can get their act together here. The friend who made the reservation is well versed in French cuisine and assured me that my experience was not the same as his earlier in the year. I can see the potential for La Chaumiere to be fabulous, but we didn’t get fabulous last night

For the many years we lived in DC, this was one of our go-to restaurants. Now, when we visit DC, it’s always our first choice. Walking into the dining room is like stepping into a rustic farmhouse somewhere in the French countryside, adorned with copper baking molds, antique tools and farm implements, and empty bottles of fine French wine, reminders of many fine times over many years. The most coveted tables are near the stone fireplace, which sits near the middle of the room and is open on four sides. But we prefer one of the tables near the middle of the right-hand wall, sitting side-by-side, from which we can see the fire and the entire room. The menu is French classics, which this restaurant not only executes with perfection (both cooking and service), but has been doing so for decades. And the owner, Gille, makes every guest feel welcome and cherished. On our most recent visit we started with the roasted oysters and a special, the Sea Urchin Soufflé, which was excellent but not a regular menu item (as I wish it were) because of unreliable uni supply. For our mains we enjoyed the Tournedos Rossini, which was generously Foie Gras-ed, and the Venison medallions, all of which were perfected cooked. We finished with S&S, a chocolate soufflé, as we always do, with a glass of Sauternes. I was a little concerned about having two soufflés, but believe me, sea urchin and chocolate are very different. We’re looking forward to our next visit. YouTube’s Chef’s Apprentice

Charming ambiance and excellent service. The food was great, we enjoyed the baked oysters, the fish dumplings with lobster sauce, the salmon pie, and the steak. I have to say that the Souffle was a highlight. Steak was a bit too peppery for my taste. Overall, recommend this place for a pleasant dining experience.

We celebrated my cousin's milestone birthday at LA Chaumiere. It is a charming French restaurant located in the heart of Georgetown. It was a Thursday evening and the place was packed. I ordered the country style house pate, which was quite nice. My aunt and uncle got the French Onion soup. They enjoyed that thoroughly. Others on our table got the Caesar salad, with and without anchovies. Everyone was pleased with their choices. For our entrees. I chose the Rainbow Trout with lemon butter and almonds, a couple of people got the Steak Au Poivre, medallions of venison, and Coquilles St. Jacques Provencale. The food was presented very well and we were very pleased with the taste and the quantity. This is an expensive restaurant. Be prepared to spend at least $100 per person, if not more (with alcohol, it would be a lot more). It's a nice place to go for a special occasion!

My parents came back into town for Memorial Day and wanted to go back to La Chaumiere after a visit last year. It was wonderful! The host hugged my mother, the food was great again (see pictures). What makes this restaurant special is that they pay attention: when we ordered dessert at the start of the meal, my father and I decided we could share one Apple Tart. My mother went for the Raspberry souffle. When they came out with dessert, they served the Apple Tart, cut perfectly in half, on two plates for my father and myself. No one else pays that much attention, much less makes that much effort. We had a bottle of the house Rose` - I'm not a wine aficionado but after a hot day of touring DC, it was welcome. For three people it was a reasonable $350 total with alcohol and that was with a $70 tip. I appreciate even after Initiative 82 there weren't service fees or mandatory tips. They are truly, in the best sense - old school. Another pleasant aspect of La Chaumiere - it's not LOUD. My parents are both 80 and suffering from hearing loss, so going to a restaurant for a nice meal that blares loud music or has concrete walls makes their hearing aids ineffective. La Chaumiere is like settling down into a quiet Inn for dinner. You can speak at a normal volume and just enjoy your company. Once again, I'd strongly recommended visiting if you haven't before. There are precious few restaurants like this left in America. This is one of them. Show less

BOURBON STEAK is a stylish and modern steakhouse located in the Four Seasons hotel in Georgetown, Washington, D.C. It offers seasonal American fare with a touch of modern twists. The restaurant is known for its butter-poached steaks and has become a popular spot for celebrity sightings. Chef Michael Mina's contemporary steakhouse features classic dishes such as aged porterhouse, creamed spinach, wagyu beef, and locally sourced fare like Virginia swordfish.
Started with the broiled seafood tower which was flavorful and perfectly cooked. We each got a salad which was also beautifully crafted and flavorful. We moved onto their 32 oz 50 day dry aged porterhouse which was very tender and cooked to perfection. We got it with a sauce trio to try which gave added pops of flavor. Other highlights included their duck fat fries with three different dipping options and their hand rolled truffle butter rolls. A very comforting meal with exceptional service. Finished the meal off with a French press and their smoked s’more dessert. Will be back again.

My husband and I had a great experience at the Bourbon Steak House. Our server was amazing, the steak was perfectly cooked and tender. The complementary fries are delicious. We can't wait to come back to Washington and eat at the Bourbon Steak House again.

This is the perfect spot for a celebration. The service is great, and all of the food is amazing. They have a large wine selection as well as any mixed drink you can imagine. Obviously, there is a lot of bourbon on the list. They have Wagyu steak, seafood, and delicious sides. I recommend the steak and truffle mac & cheese. The chicken is also moist and delicious.

Was disappointed especially since this restaurant is inside of such a luxury hotel brand. We were not impressed at all with our food or drinks. First & last time. When we walked up to our booth we noticed how outdated the decor was. Our table had visible scratches on the top. Maybe they should cover tables for a better feel. The restaurant was loud. We thought we were going to have a romantic intimate dinner. The grilled salmon presentation was not good and way overcooked..

For my boyfriend's birthday, we celebrated with a romantic dinner at Bourbon Steak in the Four Seasons Hotel, DC, and it was an unforgettable experience. We opted for valet parking ($30 for 2 hours), which made our arrival easier. Our server, Muz, was exceptional--attentive, warm, and spot-on with recommendations for starters and drinks, especially since it was our first visit. We chose the bone in cowboy steak, which was perfectly crusted and cooked to perfection. The bacon-infused creamed corn and Brussels sprouts were perfect sides, rich yet balanced. For a sweet touch, the staff surprised my boyfriend with a light raspberry sorbet cone and a signed birthday card from the entire team, making the night extra special. Bourbon Steak delivered a flawless blend of luxury, flavor, and heartfelt service. Highly recommend for a memorable celebration! Rating: 5/5

A TWO‑TIMES TREAT AT BOURBON STEAK – LUNCH & BREAKFAST I recently had the pleasure of visiting Bourbon Steak twice during my stay—first for an indulgent lunch and then returning for breakfast—and both experiences were top-tier. LUNCH HIGHLIGHTS I opted for the Prime Steak Burger—with aged white cheddar, red wine shallot compote, it was absolutely sensational. The burger was juicy, perfectly cooked, and elevated by that balsamic-y compote. Fans on Yelp are raving: “best burger I’ve had the pleasure of devouring in the District”. Must-try: a side of duck-fat fries served in trio-seasoned spoons—garlic-herb, smoked paprika, spicy ketchup—and each flavor hit the mark. Also, a basket of buttery, sea-salt-topped truffle rolls set the tone before the meal—rich, savory, almost cinnamon-bun textured—definitely a crowd pleaser. Service was what you’d expect from the Four Seasons—attentive and polished. My water glass was kept full, questions were answered thoroughly, and I felt truly taken care of . BREAKFAST MEMORIES Though Bourbon Steak is better known for dinner and power lunches, dining here for breakfast felt like a private moment in a grand setting. The same elegance carried over to morning service—friendly, unhurried, and thoughtful. It's a calm buffet of savory flavors: think crisp breakfasts, with classic training in presentation and flavor balance. OVERALL IMPRESSION Atmosphere: Modern and stylish—leather, wood, large windows, and plush seating create a refined yet approachable steakhouse vibe . Cuisine: Classic steakhouse elevated — from sandwiches and burgers to A5 Wagyu and seafood; everything is elevated by thoughtful technique and quality ingredients. Service: Exceptionally consistent—warm, professional, and attentive without being overbearing (exactly what you want from Five‑Star staff). Bourbon Steak at the Four Seasons Washington, DC delivers an unforgettable experience—whether it's a solo lunch indulgence, a power business breakfast, or a romantic night out. From the stellar Prime Burger & duck-fat fries to the elegant ambiance and flawless service, it hits every note of a high-caliber steakhouse. I’ll be dreaming of those truffle rolls and comeback-worthy burgers! Would I recommend? Absolutely. Five stars all around.

Mid-Atlantic restaurant (US)
American restaurant
Restaurant
The Dabney, located in the up-and-coming Shaw neighborhood, offers a rustic dining experience in a former row house. Chef Jeremiah Langhorne presents Mid-Atlantic cuisine with a focus on seafood from the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The restaurant's charming contemporary farmhouse aesthetic and use of seasonal ingredients from local sources contribute to its appeal. While it may be on the higher end in terms of price, its accolades and critical reception make it worth considering for an upscale dining experience.
One of the best restaurants we have been to in the DC area. High quality food ingredients with a short rotating menu. Everything you eat is sourced from local farms. Atmosphere inside is fantastic with an open kitchen and flame sparking oven. Reservations highly recommended
Richard G — Google review
Overall we enjoyed the food on the 8 course tasting menu, but there were a few duds such as the “crab” cake which was mostly asparagus. The wine pairing was really disappointing and we really didn’t enjoy most of the glasses. Service was great and the restaurant itself is incredible! Overall, some of the dishes were weak and for the cost at $235/pp I can’t say I’d come back or recommend this when I have had much better food and experiences for less at Michelin starred locations in DC.

Shew.. Lots could be said. But ill keep it short in the long list of long-winded reviews. Phenomenal, The food, the service, the vibe... Wanted to keep it short but I NEED TO ADD... Exceptional service from The Dabney team! My buddy Pratt joked about a dish with the server, saying it would have been better with a Chicharrone.. The server came out with some fresh pork rinds, salt, lime and hot sauce. Hilarious and thoughtful.
Steven B — Google review
Positives: - Ambiance was great, the large open hearth and kitchen were beautiful. - Everything tasted delicious. The sourdough tartine and tomato small plates were amazing, highly recommend! - The service was great, zero complaints! Negatives: - The fact that the pork prime rib is listed as a "family style" dish is crazy. The connotation behind labeling something "family style" is that it's meant to share comfortably amongst 3-4 people. It was the size of a main dish, one person could have easily finished it. There is nothing family style about any of the dishes on the menu. The problem here isn't that dishes are small and expensive, that's fine and expected! The problem is that the menu is lying to you. I think if they stuck to the well established norm of an appetizer and a main dish section on the menu, it would avoid unnecessary confusion. After the "family style"(main dish for one) pork prime rib we had to order more "small plates" (appetizers) in order to finish our meal. The staff was very attentive and noticed that we were upset with the portion size so they brought us complimentary fried catfish sandwiches which we appreciated, the sandwiches were very good! I'd recommend people eat here, the food is very good! Just ignore the labels on the menu and everything will be fine.

Absolutely the coolest dining experience and best meal of my life. 5 course tasting menu was phenomenal. The atmosphere of the kitchen and being able to watch their craft with the open flame grill leaves you staring at the kitchen drooling over each plate as it comes out

Arriving a few minutes before my 6 p.m. reservation, I was greeted warmly and promptly shown to my high-top seat at the bar. A choice of water quickly arrived, and I found myself in the perfect spot: a view of the entire bar, the street outside, the entrance, and the distant kitchen. From there, I could watch the orchestration of the dining experience unfold seamlessly. Nearby, a couple was experiencing a tasting menu for the first time. Our server, Sarah, was patient, friendly, and thorough, guiding them with ease and care. Her professionalism was equally clear in her recommendations for me. Deferring wine pairings to Sarah and the sommelier, Christian, proved to be a wise decision—each course and pairing exceeded expectations. The food was, in a word, outstanding. Seven courses arrived, each one distinct, beautifully executed, and consistently beyond expectation. My favorite dish of the evening was the roasted vegetables. The aroma carried from the woodfired oven, and each piece was cut into perfect bite-sized portions. They were elegantly arranged with farro and fresh herbs from the restaurant’s garden, standing upright above a delicate layer of ricotta cheese that tied the flavors together beautifully. At the close of the evening, I walked to the back to observe the kitchen. I saw Chef Langhorne offering gentle, clear instruction to a new team member. When finished, he took the time to greet me personally, thank me, and ask for feedback. His humility and genuine hospitality left as strong an impression as the meal itself. I highly recommend The Dabney—a place where food, service, and heart come together flawlessly.

My husband and I had a wonderful anniversary experience at Dabney DC on 10/24. Our wait staff was amazing, especially Lucy! She walked us through the menu and chef’s specials. My husband and I chose a beautiful 32oz ribeye. Nestled in the vibrant Shaw neighborhood, Convivial is a stylish and inviting eatery that beautifully marries French and American culinary traditions. Under the expert guidance of Chef Cedric Maupillier, diners can indulge in an imaginative menu featuring everything from wild hare wrapped in puff pastry to classic steak frites. The restaurant's charm extends beyond its food; it boasts a clean, rustic-modern design that creates a warm atmosphere perfect for young professionals, families, and academics alike.
This is my absolutely favorite brunch spot! The food is consistently excellent and really authentic. Chef Cedric makes hands down the BEST quiche I’ve ever had! All 3 courses were amazing. Best French onion soup I’ve ever had. Steak frites was cooked perfectly. I would stab someone if they took my sticky toffee pudding.
Nickolas R — Google review
While we found our appetizers and entrees uninspired, dessert was a revelation and the entire experience was buffered by superb service and a warm atmosphere. I started with the French onion soup and sadly it fell into a pattern of lackluster versions of this dish in the DC area. It simply lacked flavor. My friend's burrata was also quite middling. My main dish was their popular fried coq au vin (boneless chicken thigh fried and glassed in a coq au vin sauce, crushed potato, vegetables) and it was marginally better, aided by a little salt but still pretty forgettable. My friend seemed to enjoy the gnocchi (carrot and ginger purée, asparagus, peas, scallion, oyster mushroom, charred vegetable demi-glace, kale, pumpkin seeds, parmesan) a bit more, but wasn't enthusiastic about it either. Dessert was the standout, I loved the Opera cake (chocolate cake, chocolat crémeux, milk chocolate mousse, coffee chantilly cream). It was perfectly sweet, with an excellent texture in each bite, and each element stood out while combining for a superb creation. Yum. Cocktails were fine but not remarkable either. Maybe an off night but not compelling enough to return, except maybe for dessert.

My parents and I are frequent customers there, so we definitely love the food. Today, I'm sharing my personal experience at yesterday's family outing to Convivial on Happy Hour. Good price reductions. The single patty cheeseburger is to DIE for. And as always, I got one of my top 2 desserts there: profiteroles! Not too crowded on Thursdays during rush hour time. And fun bonus: they had some Elvis Presley songs in the background that day.

Some of the menu options were better than others. I REALLY liked the Beef bourguignon. We had some pates which were interesting. Desert had nice presentation. Service was amazing and the drinks were good.

What an incredible French restaurant! Every dish was full of flavor and thoroughly enjoyed. The burratta salad had the perfect fall flavors. The boeuf bourgonion was excellent. I knew I had to get it the moment I saw another review on it. My husband loved his steak. Our drinks were good, and the creme brulee and lemon macaron were delicious for dessert. Gluten free and other allergens are clearly marked. Great options. And our server Dino was a delight. He did a great job taking care of us. Highly recommend.

Had an amazing dinner here last night for dinner! Wasn’t crowded for a Thursday but we had made reservations in advance through Resy. Food was so delicious! For starters, loved both the Escargot and Crayfish Nantua—well flavored and good portions. For entrees, the Bouef Bourguignon was great—the beef was so tender. Would love to come back to try their other dishes.
Vy H — Google review
Out of the 5 dishes we got, 2 were tasty. To start, we got the bluefin tuna (tasty) and pate (medicore). For entrees, we got the porkchop and steak (both mediocre). For dessert, we got the chocolate mousse dessert, which was amazing! In hindsight, we would have skipped the disappointing and overly expensive entrees for extra dessert. The presentation of the food and the service was good, but it wasn't intimate at all - I could fully hear the conversations to my left and right, but I struggled to hear my friend sitting across from me. I expected better food and atmosphere for the price, but was very disappointed.

Located in the heart of city center dc. I didn’t have sticker shock but from what we got for lunch, it certainly doesn’t rise to the level of excellence. If you have lived in Italy, you would not like this place very much. A little pretentious feeling here. We had the yellow tail tuna for appetizers. We had the mushroom pasta, squid ink pasta, and branzino. Everything tasted fine. The branzino was a little bland, but every component with it, tasted good. We had a chocolate cake tart and cookies and cream gelato. A 5% service charge is levied on the diners to supplement the servers‘s wages. I don’t mind tipping over 20% but forcing a service charge seems like the owners are passing the cost of employing good servers to the consumers.

We might not dress like it, but my partner and I love to splurge on fine dining. We received hands down, the best service we have received at any restaurant in a very long time, at Centrolina by Ali and staff! This restaurant was recommended by a family member who sometimes works in DC. She said to go here for the unique flavors and she definitely wasn’t wrong. The food was delicious. We will definitely return and we will be requesting Ali as our server!

Great food and very attentive service. The portions were on the smaller side, but everything was really well prepared. Even the delicate pear salad had many complex flavors. It's an upscale place on a shopping street, they have a more casual cafe across the street that I haven't visited.

A 2025 James Beard nominee and for good reason. The Pane consisted of three different types of bread, two of which were fluffy and chewy. The Verde salad had great potential ingredients but we're just not huge fans of salads inspired by Cesar salads. The fettuccine was hand made and you could tell by the al dente nature, savory cream sauce. Service was cordial. The atmosphere on a summer day outside was charming.
Jeff T — Google review
Small portions and higher prices. The food was good, but honestly, it didn’t feel much different from getting fresh ravioli from the grocery store’s refrigerated section. Service was friendly, though there’s a 5% surcharge that isn’t a tip but is said to help subsidize staff wages. Our waiter seemed a bit annoyed when we left a 15% tip because of that, which was disappointing.

We came very late, so there weren’t many choices since most restaurants had already closed. This one stays open until 10:30 pm. I like the cozy, family-style atmosphere. The place is small, but I enjoyed it. Even at almost 10 pm, there were still lots of people. The food was good, and the service was great—the waitress recommended some noodles and explained the differences. This restaurant is located right beside the Chinese Friendship Archway. Note: Street parking is free after 10 pm.

Traveling from San Francisco to Washington DC for business and after a few days in town, I could use some Asian food for a change. Looked up on Google and found the place and when I walked in I was immediately greeted in Chinese and seated by the counter by the entrance. The waitress recommended the Kingfu noodle so I went with it. The food came shortly after ordering. While it looks pretty tasty, first sip of the soup indicated a very familiar flavor - instant noodle that I used to cook at home. There were a few slices of beef and some more fresh veggies but the fact that the soup is instant, I already lost faith in the authenticity of the restaurant. Wouldn’t return to pay $16 for instant noodles but for those not familiar with authentic taste, it’s not a bad place to grab a bite.

Me and my husband decided to have dinner here and it went amazing. We ordered beef ramen, noodles dan dan and spicy pork dumplings. Everything was amazing, the portions are very fulfilling and very flavorful. We didn’t even wait 5mins before getting our dinner served and it was rush time, incredible. I highly recommend coming here! It is quite small restaurant and I might suggest you reserve a table if you want to be sure to get a spot. The prices are just right for the portions you will get!

Walked in because I craved Chinese food! This place was pretty good and had some authentic Chinese flavors. I ordered the Dan Dan noodles, fried rice, sweet and sour ribs, and the general tso chicken. The Dan Dan noodles was peanutty, but there wasn’t a sauce with it, or if there was…it was very light. The General Tso Chicken was sweet and had a strong garlic flavor. The sticky ribs were in a thick heavy sauce. The fried rice was the BEST dish, the flavor had that fire wok flavor and the sweetness of the Chinese sausage balanced out the saltiness of the seasoning. I’d recommend the fried rice dish for anyone here! Service was great! Parking was street paid parking. Handicap accessible, but may be tight spacing for those in a wheelchair and it requires you to get up a half step to get into the restaurant.

Came here on a whim while walking back to our hotel and boy did we pick right! This ramen joint is so damn delicious! Service could have used a little something extra but the food made us forget whatever we were annoyed about.

Small little food spot. Food was very delicious. Felt so comforting with all the flavors. Just wanted to try this spot out. Would come back to try more dishes.

Highly recommend this place👍👍 We ordered vegetarian gyoza gyoza, mio soup and stir fry noodles. Everything tasted amazing and the service was really nice.

Absolutely delicious. Wait time was minimal as they allowed more patrons to go upstairs to eat. We ordered the Chengdu Peppery Chicken (Szechuan Chicken) and OMG was it worth every single bite. If you’re near, definitely give this place a try. Portions were large in size for the price.

American restaurant
The Monocle Restaurant has been a staple in Capitol Hill for over 50 years, attracting politicians and locals alike. Housed in a quaint yellow townhouse, it offers a classic American dining experience with steaks, burgers, and seafood dishes like Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes and Littleneck Clam Linguine. Despite its prestigious clientele including past presidents like John F.
The vibe here is so cool. I felt like I was in an old restaurant from the early 1900s. At lunch on a Wednesday, we were seated within a few minutes. Our waiter was so kind and provided great service. The filet and potatoes were outstanding. Everyone at my table enjoyed their meals.
Courtney H — Google review
The service and foods were superb. I was honestly thrown off by the old building smell and old interior of the restaurant (with pictures of politicians) but the small plate of octopus, ribeye steak, filet mignon steak, arugula salads, and oysters and shitake mushroom side were all fab. Their foods were splendid. And the server was experienced, professional, attentive and thoughtful. For example, he offered to split the salads when we told him that we were going to share the salads.

I had the pleasure of eating here, having good food and a good drink to pair it. First, my table had the fried calamari, which we very much enjoyed. I didn't put a picture on it because we ate it before I could take a picture. My choice of drink was the lemonade with seasonal berry smash, which was amazing. It berries tasted fresh, and it had a nice minty flavor, overall good. The Atlantic salmon with broccoli was nice. When mixed, the plate was a nice pairing. As someone who critics a dish first by trying each individual item before mixing it with others, the broccoli alone was not ideal. But, when combined, it was much better. The potatoes and creamed spinach were great. Both had a smooth flavor and overall great. The service was top-notch. They gave us plenty of time to catch up with each other. Coming from out of town, its not something that im used to. Usually the service is a little faster, but I enjoyed the pace of this restaurant.

I had the Angur burger today at the Monocle Restaurant. Its good not amazing. Make sure they dont put onions and peppers on if youre not into that. Otherwise the food is affordable and very good.

Cute family owned restaurant. Came here randomly before a tour to the Capitol, where we sat at the bar and spent a lot of time conversing with who we ended up discovering was the manager, John, who was super attentive and friendly, along with the other bar staff. The decor and ambiance is quaint. I noticed upstairs (where the restroom was located) had photos of years past (likely family and other notable moments) and other historical recognitions and noteworthy moments for the restaurant. A lot of celebrities and presidents have frequented here. I also loved how this place brought me back in time, like it was preserved from the 1900s with service, class, and style, and where all the staff were dressed in formal suits (like when you had to dress right to go eat, fly, etc). One of the most notable parts of our visit was how 4 different times the staff, including manager, asked if we would like to move our seats to a more roomy/comfortable area, so we didn't feel too cramped at the end of the bar. We ordered drinks and bread with butter which were all fresh/tasty. Also, we had ordered a chicken salad which we intended to split, and without us even asking they pre-split the salad onto 2 plates for us. They treat customers with the utmost respect, like family. It was delightful... Would definitely return!

Outstanding, simply outstanding! We had a wonderful meal including the 8oz filet which was cooked to perfection. Also enjoyed the crab cakes, that we would highly recommend. Don’t miss this family restaurant when you visit DC!

My friend and I had time to kill before our White House tour so we picked this place to get out of the heat and grab a drink. We were not disappointed. The staff was absolutely amazing. We ended up chatting with the bartender as well as the owner of the establishment. They were so sweet and kind. We first sat at the small corner of the bar and ordered drinks and an appetizer. The staff kept asking to put us at a table since the bar space was limited we declined because we were only grabbing a drink and snack and leaving. A spot opened up at the other side of the bar and they instantly moved us to make sure we had room for our plates. We had bread and split a grilled chicken salad. Everything was so tasty. The real gems were the staff. The proprietor John made you feel like you were home and just in time for dinner. If my travels bring me back to DC I will be stopping in for dinner.

Afghan restaurant
Bistro
Restaurant
Lapis is an Afghan bistro located in the heart of Adams Morgan, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere with rugs and ornate furnishings. The restaurant serves a variety of Afghan dishes including kebabs, stews, and a large vegetarian menu. The Popal family, who operate the restaurant, have brought vibrant flavors from Afghanistan to this diverse neighborhood.
A foodie friend recommended this spot but we didn’t think we’d get in…it was packed! Luckily we did (the staff was so friendly and accommodating) and the experience was worth the anticipation. The restaurant is much larger than we thought with multiple bars and seating downstairs. We ordered the sample appetizer which gave us the opportunity to try everything. We enjoyed the potato and onion appetizer the most. For my entree I ordered the okra stew which was hearty and flavorful. My boyfriend ordered the grilled steak, lamb and chicken. He loved every bite. We were too stuffed for dessert but would definitely try to coconut rice pudding. Lapis is a 10/10. We would definitely recommend as a must try while visiting Washington, DC.
Lashawnda B — Google review
The food at Lapis is excellent, and I appreciate that the atmosphere is not overly formal. I think it's a great restaurant to bring friends from out of town or for a group dinner. My favorite item on the menu is the shrimp dumplings, the saffron cream sauce is incredible. I also like the lamb shank and eggplant. I've tried almost all of their desserts, and I liked the rose ice cream the best, but the dessert menu is not as memorable as the dinner menu in my opinion. Aside from the food, the service is also attentive and the space is well-designed. I would recommend making a reservation, they have been very busy every time I have gone for dinner.
Anika A — Google review
The food was absolutely delicious, and the desserts were outstanding—definitely a highlight of the meal. However, the service was on the slower side. We were seated in the basement near the bar, which I didn’t enjoy. It was very loud, and it made it hard to have a comfortable conversation. Next time, I’d prefer to sit upstairs if possible. The restaurant gets quite busy, so I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. Despite the noise and wait, the flavors were memorable, and I’d return again—just not in the basement seating area.

Definitely one of the best restaurants I ate at during my trip to DC! The food was up to par with other major city food scenes. Our waiter was awesome, knew the dishes and what to recommend, plus was attentive to my sister's peanut allergy, so he knew what to recommend and what dishes could be modified. I've never had Afghan food and it was delicious and I would go again! The dumplings are a must order and the pumpkin from the vegetable sides was one of my favorite things we ordered and I didn't expect it to be such a favorite of mine! The menu is made to be more of a shared type of experience (which was better because you could try everything). 5/5 in my book and makes sense how they have a Michelin award!! We walked in right at around 5 pm and got a 2 person table easily, but as the evening went on more and more people came and by 7 a resy would definitely be needed!
Georgia G — Google review
I don’t understand the hype, I guess. Food was okay. Appetizers are definitely better than entrees on offer. The palow was completely unimpressive (especially given the price jump if including lamb), and the kofta rivaled IKEA meatballs in terms of taste and amount of spice used. I shouldn’t be looking forward to eating a potato chunk when there is highlighted piece meat on my plate :( Service was good, if extremely sparse. Should you be sitting downstairs, you’ll likely see your waiter once every 15 minutes - that’s how long it will take between sitting and ordering, ordering and appetizers, appetizers and entrees. 20% service charge is included no matter group size. Mezcal cocktail was fine. Bartender was polite and prompt. Atmosphere was loud and fun. Basement and main floor are very different.
C — Google review
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. However, the service was just average. Maybe because they already charge a 20% service fee, the staff only came to our table about three times from when we sat down until we left.

Such a beautiful and cozy place! The décor is lovely and the atmosphere feels so warm. The food was amazing. We had Mantu, Bolani, rice pilaf, and Sharbat, and everything was delicious. The staff were super friendly and even offered us ice cream on the house! Loved the whole experience.

Laotian restaurant
Thip Khao Restaurant is a sleek and modern eatery that offers spicy Laotian dishes and classic cocktails with an exotic twist. Chef Seng Luangrath, who fled Laos as a child and learned to cook in a refugee camp in Thailand, brings the heart and soul of Lao food to the restaurant. The cuisine is described as 'spicy funky fermented' with bright, punchy flavors.
A real taste of authentic Laos food restaurant and not just at a family home. Love the pungent and strong earthy flavors as well as the fermented fish. Make sure you can handle the flavor and most definitely handle the heat. I love love love it!

Main dining hall is very loud, felt like I was yelling when I try to speak to my friend across the table. However the food made up for the noise. I enjoy every dish we order, the fried fish is crunching and serve with sweet and sour sauce. Chicken laarb is so good I wanted another serving. Chicken liver skewer was yummy but I wish it was warm when they brought it out. Laos crispy friend was my favorite because it was flavor and season so well I didn’t have to add nothing!! Mango sticky right could have been a little heavier coconut cream cause. Way too runny
C S — Google review
Thip Khao was a delightful experience from start to finish. We chose it because it’s part of the Chase Restaurant Collection, and it absolutely lived up to expectations. The service was warm and attentive, the atmosphere casual and relaxing. The food, however, was the true standout. Every dish impressed, each one bursting with flavor and personality. The steamed catfish wrapped in banana leaves stole the show, tender, aromatic, and perfectly seasoned. Eating the fish with sticky rice by hand was a fun, authentic touch that added to the whole experience. If you find yourself in Washington, DC, Thip Khao is well worth a visit.
Felipe ( — Google review
The noodles were good. I suggest that honestly, stick to the noodle dishes. We order the moak, which was salmon steamed in a banana leaf. However, the fish TASTED fishy. It was lacking in a substantial flavor as well—it was fishy and had dill, but the dill did not permeate the flavor of the dish. My friend who had been here previously had a negative experience with the pork being too fatty as well. The noodles were good, but it tasted similar to Thai food, so I did not feel like I was trying a new cuisine at all. Disappointed, especially for the price point of this restaurant. The sticky rice was a good addition though. The only thing I was excited for in this restaurant is that with almost every dish, there was a multitude of meats available
Anika A — Google review
We had a great meal at Thip Khao! We were a group of 4 and shared some apps, then ordered our own main dishes. We started with piing (chicken skewers), chuenh peek gai (chicken wings) and nahm tok salad. The meat on the skewers and salad were tender and so flavorful. The wings were very crispy and had a really good sauce on it. It also came with sticky rice. For my main dish I ordered the kee mao (drunken noodles) with chicken which was good and a good portion too. For drinks I had their Thai iced tea which was delicious and sweet. Service was great and we were checked on regularly. I made a reservation about 5 days in advance and it looks like they book up quick! It would be tough to grab a same day res so I recommend booking in advance.

We made reservations & were seated right on time upon arrival. Our server was kind and gave us suggestions on what to order. The food came out hot & delicious! I didn’t take pictures of everything we ordered. Our favorite was the Gaeng Phet (red curry dish), Chuenh Peek Gai (wings) & the sesame sticky rice dessert with coconut ice cream. The beef jerky appetizer was tasty but I would choose the wings over the beef. We can’t wait to come back to try more plates.

Located in Washington, DC, minibar by José Andrés is an intimate and innovative dining experience that offers a multi-course menu for up to six guests. The restaurant features a futuristic kitchen where around 10 chefs serve approximately 20 courses to just 12 diners seated at a counter. The interior is inventive with a gold dome hanging above tables encircling the open kitchen, creating a chic and artistic ambiance.
minibar offers an unforgettable experience from the moment you walk in. The service is impeccable—every member of the team is warm, welcoming, and highly professional. Ben greeted us promptly and provided excellent recommendations for wine and cocktails. Rita checked in throughout the evening to ensure everything exceeded our expectations. The level of service, the artistry behind each dish, and the exceptional quality of both food and drinks make this a must-visit for any true food lover. Chef Nathan Lumley and the culinary team delivered a flawless presentation—every dish was a masterpiece, from concept to execution. We began the evening with two beautifully crafted cocktails—the Chief Lapu Lapu and Big in Japan—which set the tone for the night perfectly. The tasting menu offered a thoughtful variety, introducing us to new flavors while delighting with each course. Highlights included the Beet & Ostera Caviar, Oyster Chowder, Chili Crab, Morel & Manzanilla, Turbot & Morel, and the Lamb Chawanmushi. Every element of the evening felt intentional and elevated. The team made it truly special from start to finish.

An absolutely unforgettable dining experience — far beyond just “dinner.” From the moment we arrived, every detail, both big and small, was flawlessly executed. The ambiance struck the perfect balance between elegance and warmth, setting the tone for an evening that felt extraordinarily special from start to finish. Each course was a masterpiece — beautifully created and plated and bursting with flavor. The service was impeccable: attentive without being intrusive, with staff who clearly take pride in creating an exceptional experience. Even the smallest touches — from the pacing of the meal and the exquisite presentation — made it clear that minibar doesn’t just serve food; it curates moments. By the end of the night, we didn’t just feel satisfied — we felt enchanted. This was more than a meal; it was an experience to remember and one we can’t wait to relive.

Minibar by José Andrés – A Dazzling Culinary Journey Minibar by José Andrés delivers a truly remarkable gastronomic experience that blurs the lines between culinary art and innovative cuisine. With just 12 seats per seating, the atmosphere is intimate, conversational, and social, making it a unique and personal dining affair. This reservation-only spot has been on my radar for nearly a year, and I finally managed to secure a coveted spot for a Thursday night. From the moment you step inside, the white anteroom and minimalist, contemporary interior immediately set the stage for a one-of-a-kind culinary journey. It feels less like a meal and more like a performance, with each dish presented with meticulous precision and flair. The chefs are not just preparing food; they’re narrating a story, explaining the inspiration behind each dish with infectious passion and enthusiasm. The tasting menu is a true masterpiece, showcasing José Andrés’s Spanish heritage through dishes that both surprise and delight. One of the highlights is the playful take on an onion ring – a classic snack reimagined with caramelized onion cream and Idiazabal cheese. Other standouts include an edible oyster shell, a cauliflower dish that pushes culinary boundaries, and the fried donut – easily the crowning jewel of the dessert course. Dining at Minibar is a premium experience, with the tasting menu priced at over $300 per person (excluding tax and tip). The wine list is equally impressive, offering over 80 selections, and wine pairings are available at various levels to enhance your experience. While Minibar is undeniably a feast for the senses, I did feel that some dishes didn’t quite hit the level of culinary innovation I was hoping for, particularly with the overall fishiness of the menu. That said, it’s still a must-try, and I’d definitely recommend adding it to your bucket list if you're visiting or living in Washington, D.C.

What can I say about my experience at Minibar by Jose Andres? From beginning to end, it was an amazing experience. I took my wife there for Valentine’s Day. I had to book this reservation when they released their availability during the first week of January. There is a limited amount of seating for their tasting menu (which fills up quick). We’ve been to multiple Jose Andres restaurants in the past, but this by far exceeded all other experiences. This tasty menu was paired with different wines from all over the world. My wife does not like seafood so they were able to make multiple substitutions for her. The dishes that stood out the most were the Shawarma, lamb mole truffle masa cake, oyster chowder, and the KK doughnut. The one drink that I can’t get out of my mind is the 2010 Château de Yquem. The attention to detail amazing customer service, and knowledge base their staff had made the entire experience enjoyable.

The food was excellent. But we felt that the quality-to-price ratio, similar to Jônt, was lower than other Michelin Star restaurants in DC. We spent $548.21/person (including mocktail pairings, tax, and service fee) for less food that was less delicious and more expensive than Little Pearl or Pineapple and Pearls. (Unaffiliated.) That said, the non-alcoholic mocktail pairings were a stand-out. Truly exceptional. If they mass-produced, bottled, and sold their merchandise, I would be the first buyer!

Beau Thai is a trendy restaurant that offers traditional Thai dishes, specialty drinks, and vegan/gluten-free options. The menu features authentic offerings such as guay tiao num tok (pork-blood noodle soup) and hor mok pla (steamed-fish-curry-custard). Additionally, the restaurant serves Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Chinese noodle dishes in authentic serving pieces.
Beau Thai is a gem! You know the restaurant is good when the locals recommend it and to go orders are consistently flying out the door. First off, the staff was very friendly. We made a reservation and were seated immediately which we were thankful for as the restaurant started to get very busy after we were seated (6pm). Our server was delightful. The Thai Ice Tea we ordered was a great way to start off our dinner. It was the perfect blend of milk, tea and ice. The Tom Yum soup was unbelievable. My tongue felt like it was attacked with flavor. It’s not to be missed if you enjoy cilantro, shrimp and sheer awesomeness. We have dined at many Thai restaurants and this one was equally loved by everyone in our party. Easily one of the best! The Pad Thai, Pad Se Ew, and Glass Noodles were flavor perfection.

I recently dined at Beau Thai in Washington, D.C., and it was a decent experience. Thai being one of my favorite cuisines, I’ve come to expect a standard that not many Thai restaurants can meet. Let me begin! The restaurant has a warm, stylish setting that creates a welcoming atmosphere. It feels relaxed with thoughtfully chosen lighting and decor that make it perfect for a variety of occasions whether you’re out with friends or on a date. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, and they were helpful without being impatient. They were quick to address any questions and made sure we felt taken care of throughout the meal. This level of service contributed positively to the overall experience. As for the food, the Green Curry was decent, with good flavor, but the portion size was smaller than expected and the curry was somewhat too watery. Given the price, I was definitely expecting much better. While the dish was satisfying in taste, it didn’t quite match other elements of the experience. That said, Beau Thai is still a good spot for its ambiance and service, though there may be better options in D.C. if you’re looking for great Thai food and larger portions for the price.

Overall we enjoyed Beau Thai. We got the drunken noodles w/ beef and the kitchen special spicy fried chicken and rice (it had a fancy thai name that I don't recall). The Drunken noodles were REALLY spicy cooked very well. The beef was delicious. The fried chicken and rice was a much more tolerable spice. I liked the dish but it felt a little dry and dull. Everything was cooked very well, and I enjoyed it. But it was mainly just rice and chicken. It would have been nice to have a sauce or maybe some additional ingredients in the rice. But I would come back here again and try other meals.

Great experience all around… I originally ordered pickup but then it got cold outside and I had a little one with me so I asked to dine in and they graciously put the food on plates for me and even got the little one a coloring book and crayons! The garden spring rolls were amazing! I’ll be back!

This was My first time in Beau Thai and even having Thai Food. I had the Panang Curry with Pork and white rice. It was so so good. I only came in because they were playing the Ravens Game, I'm so glad I did the food was amazing. I came right before they were closing but they still took My order. I had no idea what to order so the Bartender gave a great dish to try. There is plenty of table seats and a bar with stools. The place was very clean and Food came out very quickly.

We had an absolutely fabulous dinner at Beau Thai. Lots and lots of yummy options, but you can't go wrong with the Chicken Satay, Drunken Noodles, or Pineapple Fried Rice. We especially loved the Massaman Curry (think world's best "chaunky" - as in enormous chunks - best beef stew with carrots and peanuts). They had great vegetarian options, amazing cocktails, and fast service. All in all, an amazing treat. We are already planning to head there when we're next in DC!

Within walking distance of the convention center and Green Line metro, Beau Thai is a casual gem that delivers on both flavor and hospitality. From the moment you're greeted at the door, the friendly service stands out: attentive, quick, and always with a smile. Our server used a handheld Toast POS system, making the entire dining experience seamless and efficient right at the table. The atmosphere strikes a great balance: clean and bright, thanks to large windows and thoughtful lighting, with a playlist that adds to the laid-back yet lively vibe. Outdoor seating is available and looked like a great spot to unwind on a nice day. There are also larger tables, making it a good choice for groups. The food is the real highlight. I ordered the Pad Thai with fried tofu, and it was excellent! Generously portioned, packed with flavor, and beautifully presented. The sauce was spot-on, and a surprising touch of radishes added a fresh crunch and pop of color that elevated the dish. There were so many other dishes on the menu that sounded excellent and I can’t wait to return and try more! Wine pours were generous, and the prices across the board were very reasonable. There's also a full bar, including a summer-perfect Frosé (frozen Rosé cocktail) that I’ll definitely be trying on my next visit. If you're looking for a casual lunch or dinner, Beau Thai is well worth a visit!

The St. Regis Washington, D.C., formerly known as The Carlton Hotel, is a luxurious historic lodging located in the heart of Downtown. This prestigious residence has been hosting heads of state since 1926 and boasts an exterior reflecting Gilded Age glamour with Palladian windows and a grand entrance. Inside, guests are surrounded by opulent fabrics, chandeliers, fires, and classic old-world DC furnishings.
This hotel is very close to the White House and walkable to the national mall. When booking there are options to include breakfast with your stay. I would recommend that to anyone staying here. The convenience of walking downstairs cannot be overstated. They have their evening sabering which is nice and handled kids well while attending. This hotel does not have a pool or other amenities newer St. Regis have but that is overlooked due to its great location and history.

The front desk lied to me regarding the bicycles. They were available and sitting in front but they said they couldn’t allow me to take it because they had no safety lights. When I looked for myself, the safety rear and front light were both there. I informed the hotel just to be given another excuse. Also, the hotel took my garments for pressing and delivered them with black stains. I had to go to my important meeting with dirty clothes as a result. I literally just asked for the hotel to pay for the cleaning of the staining it caused. Instead of the GM of the hotel swiftly resolving it, they purposefully put a claim to get some nonsense adjuster involved that didn’t investigate anything and merely denied any wrongdoing as they always do. This was a a bad experience that could have easily been resolved, but the hotel purposefully didn’t resolve it. Bad experience and bad feeling. Kyla was beyond inconsiderate and legally incorrect. Don’t recommend.

The Saint Regency Hotel is a truly enchanting place! The ambiance is exceptional, the service and food are fantastic, and the drinks and cocktails are simply great. The rooms are also beautiful, but I had to deduct one star because the beds are rather uncomfortable and you can hear the plastic sound. It's crucial to have comfortable beds for a good night's sleep, especially after a long day. I hope the hotel considers improving their bed quality to make the experience even more memorable for future guests!

My wife and I were there last night, the 25th, to attend a wedding reception. Nice venue. The food was decent. The only issue is the stairway leading from the lobby to the restrooms on the lower level. Those marble stairs are a complete hazard. They certainly would not meet any of todays building codes. Before the event started my wife slipped and fell down the last section of stairs. She's ok, a little bruised up on her hip and shins, but message to the GM of the St. Regis. Most people in America don't know that a lift is the elevator. WE'RE NOT IN ENGLAND! Yes, there is an elevator to the lower level, but most folks at first did not realize this. Change the signage to ELEVATOR!

After reading mixed reviews we almost passed on this hotel and we are very happy that we did not, our entire stay was tremendous. From the moment we arrived we felt valued as a guest receiving individual attention, almost as though you were staying with family or friends. The service was consistent and top tier all the way though, which met our expectations of a stay with St. Regis. We could certainly return in the future.

The place is exemplary and the location is amazing. The hotel is one of those rare gems in luxury and location. And yet, the sheer importance also lends an unusual snootiness to the staff here who treat guests very differently, without realizing that not every guest does arrive I a well kept suit and tie and still may be someone somewhere or he/she can afford this place. Amazing architecture and nice food options. The bar is well stocked with some amazing surprises

I stayed here for three nights during a work trip, and honestly, it exceeded my expectations. The check-in process was fast, and the front desk staff were super helpful — even gave me a list of local places to grab dinner. The room was spacious, the bed was really comfortable (and I’m picky about beds), and everything felt clean and well-maintained. The Wi-Fi worked well for Zoom meetings, and they had a desk with enough plugs — small thing, but it matters. One night I needed extra towels and someone brought them within 5 minutes. Solid experience from start to finish.

As a Marriott Ambassador with nearly 2,000 nights stayed, this was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had. No welcome letter. No upgrade offered. I walked into my room to find a bug sitting on the bed — not exactly the St. Regis standard. Only after reporting it was I moved to a larger room that was apparently available all along. Staff made little effort to acknowledge or recover the situation. I was also misinformed about breakfast — led to believe it was complimentary, only to be charged at checkout. For a brand that’s supposed to define luxury, this felt careless and unworthy of the Marriott name. I hope management reaches out — this property has serious work to do.

Chaia Georgetown is a delightful eatery that has made a name for itself with its vibrant vegetarian and vegan tacos, originally popularized at local farmer's markets. This charming spot offers an array of gluten-free, seasonal plant-based taco options like creamy kale and potato, roasted beet with ricotta, and charred green beans topped with queso fresco. The inviting atmosphere is perfect for anyone looking to enjoy quick service in a light-filled space.
Chaia has been one of my favorite lunch spots in Georgetown for years, and I'm glad they're still going strong. They offer healthy, fresh and flavorful vegetarian tacos with unique and delightful flavor combinations. The restaurant itself has a pleasant, sunny ambiance that makes you want to stick around. I ordered the mushroom, eggplant and sweet potato tacos, all of which I would enthusiastically recommend. If you're a vegetable fan, this is the place for you! The only thing I would recommend would be expanding seasoning options, e.g. offering hot sauce or red pepper flakes for those of us who enjoy our tacos on the spicier side.
Rose S — Google review
I’ll be honest — “vegetarian taco shop” doesn’t exactly get my blood pumping. I’m a guy who has hunted wild boar, gnawed on bloody steaks, and considered pork fat one of life’s greatest pleasures. So walking into Chaia, tucked in a cozy Georgetown corner, I wasn’t expecting to walk out impressed. But here’s the thing about food: when it’s done right, when it’s made with passion and guts and a little bit of attitude, you don’t miss the meat. And Chaia? Chaia gets it. The tacos here are humble works of art — earthy, thoughtful, layered. The mushroom taco, with garlicky portobellos, feta, and a zing of salsa verde, is the kind of bite that makes you rethink how good vegetables can be. The creamy kale and potato taco is rich and satisfying, without hiding behind a wall of cheese or sauce. Every taco pops with texture, balance, and a sense that someone actually gives a damn in the kitchen. The vibe is refreshingly unpretentious — airy space, clean design, people who genuinely seem happy to be there. You’re not here to be impressed by candlelight or overpriced cocktails. You’re here because you want to eat something real, something that tastes like it was dreamed up on a farm and not in a marketing meeting. Sure, the menu’s small, and yeah, it’s not the cheapest taco you’ll find in D.C. But Chaia is doing something rare: it’s giving vegetables the spotlight without apology or gimmick. It’s a place where you bring your carnivorous friends and watch them silently nod after that first bite — the universal language of “Damn, this is good.” Four stars because Chaia delivers on what it promises: vibrant, soulful food that makes you feel good without beating you over the head with kale evangelism. You leave full, happy, and maybe — just maybe — a little more open-minded about what belongs in a taco.

Fantastic place for really good farm to table vegetarian food. This was a stop on a good tour of DC. The atmosphere is friendly and lively. The staff is fantastic. The food is amazing. I had a delicious taco that unfortunately I don't remember the name of 😑, but I did take a picture. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try!

I don't know where to start so l'll cut to the chase and tell you that you need to try this place out. If you are a vegetarian, or a friend of a vegetarian, or if you enjoy eating vegetarian food, then you will definitely like this place! First of all I have no idea how to pronounce the name of this place, but that's OK since I know how to chow down on their delicious tacos and sides. I am obsessed with the creamy kale and potato taco, and I love their orange color hot sauce and I put it on everything they serve. Their black beans are seasoned so well, and I could eat five servings of them right now. Currently you get a trio of tacos for $13.45, and the tacos are not that big so if you're feeling really hungry I definitely recommend getting a side of their green rice or black beans. Delish. It is a cute spot with seating on the lower and upper levels. It tends to get crowded during lunch and dinner times, so plan accordingly to avoid a long wait. Their menu is rather small, and I like that because it is a straightforward kind of place that focuses on doing a few things really well. If you are someone who likes big portions, this isn't that kind of place but you should still try it out! The only downside is the size of the tacos in comparison with the cost they charge you. Other than that, I really enjoy coming here and I would recommend it to anyone who is down for some flavorful and wholesome vegetarian food.

Had the braised mushroom tacos, sweet potato tacos, and mushroom quesadillas. Everything was very tasty and service was quick. The takeout boxes were also super cute and easy to take out, which we did at a plaza with tables next door. Came here because my girlfriend is celiac, but left impressed with the food.

This little vegetarian taco shop is exquisite. Super cute dining space, very friendly staff, and really good tacos. I usually don’t choose a place solely because it’s vegetarian, but I was in the area and drawn to the cute location. Your lunch special is a really good deal. I was definitely full when I finished my meal. I will definitely be coming back here for many lunches to come.

Absolutely loved this stop! It’s such a pleasure to find a place where you can get some vegetarian tacos that are absolutely delicious. Honestly I was surprised they were vegetarian because everything was so good. We were able to enjoy the sweet potato nachos along with the taco trio and every bite was absolutely exquisite. Service is wonderful and everyone is very helpful. Even though you put in your own order there are people there to help, the vibe and ambience of the location in Georgetown was so cute. I will definitely be back.

Brasserie Liberté is a stylish and spacious restaurant in Washington, DC, offering classic French cuisine with outdoor seating and a bar. It's known for its modern French fare and as a venue for private events like wedding rehearsal dinners. The restaurant also offers a fantastic dining experience during restaurant week, with great value for high-quality dishes. While some patrons have raised concerns about the mandatory 20% fee added to the bill, many others have praised the attentive service and lovely ambiance.
Awesome food with super fresh ingredients! Had one of the best classic burgers I have had w/ double patty, definitely a must-try. The fries had this spicy seasoning that was seriously good. For a veggie option, we loved the fettuccine contadina. It was packed with fresh veggies and full of flavor!

I haven’t been back in four years. Glad the food had not changed. We had very attentive service and the food was pretty good. We had the steak tartare, steak and eggs (poached) with salad and roasted potatoes, gnocchi in fondue sauce, and house burger. We should’ve saved room for dessert. Will certainly return.

I liked the beef tartare and onion soup, despite the onion soup is so salty 🫠🍲 me and my husband are sharing and we can only finish half of it. The beef tartare taste good but not anything special ,the price is reasonable for the quality and portion. For the main we ordered duck confit and again we appreciate the portion and I liked the veggies 😀 of this dish. Not fond of auto 20% tips for 2pp

We came last night to celebrate a graduation and had Seth as our server. He did an amazing job. He was very friendly and got along great with our table. The service was amazing. I had the steak frites, which was also very good, I would recommend! Everyone at the table enjoyed their food and would definitely come back. This place was very good, and if you go Seth is a great server!

Okay, I really like this place. Here’s why: Brasserie Liberté looks compact from the outside, but it’s actually quite spacious inside. On Sunday morning, we decided to have breakfast as a family of three. This place offers a great breakfast menu even early in the morning, and the portions are big enough to satisfy even the biggest breakfast lovers. They also serve alcohol, which is a nice bonus—if you know what I mean :) The restaurant is located in Georgetown, and the combination of its location, European-style cuisine, and great service creates a unique and cozy experience.

Food was amazing, server was fine. I give 1 star just to say- the mandatory 20% service fee pre tax is a borderline deceptive business practice. Our waitress also mentioned that the servers get NONE of that, somehow. So now I have to tip 40%?? Just make your food more expensive if times are too tough. Don’t deceive me with “cheaper prices”. Luckily I was on the company dime, but geez dude…
Jake U — Google review
The food here was delicious and the waiters and staff were very attentive. We happened to attend during restaurant week, where the appetizers, entrees, and dessert were $40 altogether. The meal was very enjoyable, and the bread was high quality 👌👌☝️😋
Liya B — Google review
The dinner at this French restaurant was a pleasant experience with several highlights. The red wine selection was excellent—smooth, full-bodied, and a perfect complement to the meal. We began with the French onion soup, which was deeply flavorful. The rich broth, caramelized onions, and melted cheese topping came together perfectly, making it a true standout starter. The steak tartare with raw egg was well-prepared, seasoned just right, and fresh, offering the classic taste you expect from this French favorite. The croquettes were another strong point—crispy on the outside with a creamy interior, ideal as a shared appetizer. Although I personally didn’t try the escargot, the rest of the table enjoyed it and commented on its tenderness and garlicky butter sauce, so it seems to be a reliable choice here as well. For the main course, the pasta was cooked al dente with a flavorful sauce, simple yet satisfying. While not the most traditional French option on the menu, it held its own in terms of taste and execution. Service was smooth and attentive, and the atmosphere carried the kind of cozy charm you hope for in a French bistro setting. Overall, the meal delivered on both quality and variety, with the wine and onion soup as the clear standouts. I would return, especially to try more of the classic dishes done well here.

Anju is a cozy restaurant with brick walls and outdoor seating, offering contemporary Korean comfort food. It is the latest venture from the Fried Rice Collective, known for CHIKO. Anju emerged from the ashes of Chef Danny Lee's original Mandu restaurant after a fire. The restaurant pays homage to its past while elevating Korean cuisine under the guidance of Chef Angel Barreto.
Be aware, there are a lot of steps/stairs leading up to the table. As for the food, everything here is top-notch quality. We had brunch here for the first time, and it did not disappoint. My dosirak meal was absolutely delicious and satisfying. The pork cutlets (donkatsu) were incredibly tasty, with high-quality meat. The Korean curry was a pleasant surprise—it wasn’t the artificial kind I expected. Instead, they made it from scratch using healthy ingredients, and it was wonderfully flavorful with donkatz. The banchan—cucumber pickle, kimchi, and lotus root—were a refreshing kick Kimchi was way too sour to me but it’s probiotic bomb with the sourness, it’s was ok. Galbi steak and egg Red lettuce is a symbol of the Korean wrap salad, always paired with meats. I loved the attention to detail in the flavor combinations Will come back for dinner sometime soon. Hopefully there will be options for brown rice or mixed grain bop. Side dishes like organic egg jangjorim or danmuji kimchi, anchovy etc could be fun options if added.

My partner and I came here for brunch and absolutely loved it. We ordered the chicken and waffles, steak and eggs, and tater tots, and everything was delicious. The chicken and waffles were our favorite. The portions were generous, the food was perfectly cooked, and the cocktails were just as impressive. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, and the service was excellent. Our waiter gave great recommendations and made us feel right at home. Overall, it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Highly recommend this spot for a relaxed and satisfying brunch.

The interiors of Anju are very warm and inviting. The staff is very friendly and the food came out fairly quickly. The actual dishes were average in terms of flavor. The dumplings were not very flavorful and didn’t taste very Korean. The fried broccolini also felt out of place — it lacked flavor and didn’t really fit the rest of the menu in my opinion. The tofu bibimbap also tasted under seasoned but it was not bad. The kimchi Jiggae was the best dish out of the ones we ordered - it had tender pieces of pork and tofu, but it could have been a little richer and spicier. I would also argue that free kimchi or banchan at a Korean restaurant is a must. I will applaud this place for its large portion sizes. Overall, I think this place gives you a lot of food for its price but I don’t think I would come back here for great Korean food!

I went here for dinner with a few friends after grabbing a very difficult reservation. We are late (8pm) and the place was packed and hopping. We split two appetizers and three mains between the three of us and it was more than enough food. We started out with the Chikin and Mandu. The Chikin consisted of MASSIVE wings that are delicious. Definitely try this starter! For mains , we got Korean “Jambalaya”, Ssam Board, and Yeomso Jjajangyeon (goat). Everything was really good and we were stuffed. If I went back, it would be hard to try new stuff and not just get these again! I love how this spot is nestled right in DuPont circle. Very close and very good. Check it out!

The dak manu was weird to be honest, I understand it’s fusion but personally didn’t think they paired particularly well together. The beef yukhoe was again definitely fusion - no raw egg, no Asian pear, random chia seeds, random lotus root chips, sweeter than traditional yukhoe … but it’s a pretty good starting point for those that have never had it before and it still tasted good, just not traditional Korean food. Which was fine, because that’s not what they’re claiming to be! Cocktails were awesome, bartender was really friendly.
Jinhee P — Google review
Had a birthday dinner at Anju in DC. We had Panchan (set of three) Soy-brined Chayote, Sweet Lotus Root, Mul kimchi and Palace Ddukbokgi, Korean "Jambalaya", Broccolini Twigim and kids had Chikin. The food was very good but the vegan/vegetarian options are very limited. They had no juice for kids and they did not offer any sweet or a pastry as it was a birthday dinner. In terms of the place itself, they do have rubber grips but I found the stairs going up and a step down to get to the bathroom a bit slippery. A lady fell down in front of the bathroom right next to us. They did have a sign there to be careful but that was not that visible.
Sadichhya D — Google review
Scored a reservation the day of and were very happy we did. What we ordered: Apps: - Chikin was fantastic - Mandu was the star of the show. Absolutely delicious. Main: - Palace Ddukbokgi also amazing. Very traditional and hearty. Highly recommend. dessert: - Banoffee Pie for dessert. You could truly taste the black pepper. Drink: - Pineapple tumeric soda: basic. Could only taste the pineapple and not the tumeric. Wouldn't recommend. All-in-all: fantastic place. Would visit again.

Highly recommend and will be back! No wait to sit at the bar on a Saturday night without a reservation. Great service and delicious drinks and food, including vegetarian options. Had the Mandu, Yache Mandu, Palace Ddukbokgi, Chikin, and the Pat Brownie Sundae. The sundae was my least favorite but still good. I highly recommend the Palace Ddukbokgi! The bartender recommended it and I’m so glad I went with his suggestion. When I saw rice cake on the menu I immediately thought of hard rice cakes but this is not that. They’re soft and chewy (like a thick noodle log) with veggies (I added tofu) in a sweet sauce that is to die for!

Annabelle is a stylish and elegant restaurant located in Dupont Circle, helmed by former White House chef Frank Ruta. The menu features contemporary American dishes and craft cocktails. They offer a full to-go menu with options like mezze rigatoni Bolognese, roasted lobster and asparagus salad, and goat cheesecake for pick-up orders placed by 4:30 p.m. Tuesday - Sunday from 5 - 8:30 p.m.
Annabelle was one of the best dining experiences we've had in 2025. Located in the beautiful neighborhood of Kalorama, Annabelle is inside a brick building that used to house the country's first certified organic restaurant. Walk inside and there's a room with a bar, two dining rooms, and a garden oasis. They also have a dog-friendly patio. From the moment you sit down, the servers warmly welcome you and help keep the flow of the courses natural. The menu is seasonal and organized around four courses and sides. Every dish we ordered was superbly crafted, but the standouts were the Gingered Koginut Squash Soup, Heirloom Tomato Carpaccio, and Braised Lamb Ragu. All three were delicious and dishes we'll crave. The bread to start was warm and tasty. The trio of sorbet for dessert was a great way to end the evening. To drink, my friend enjoyed their negroni and I the Virginia Peach. They have a well curated wine program and the French Sauvignon Blanc was unique and refreeshing.

Attended a reunion dinner banquet. Was led to their party room on the left hand side. Was quickly offered a glass of wine while standing to social. We all took seats after half an hour along two sides of assembled tables. The waiter went around to take orders from a preset three-courses menu. The Baby Lettuce Salad was fresh with cheese. The New York Strip was tender and juicy. The Opera Cake was a good finish. The waitress refilled the wine twice.

Had the most amazing dinner at Annabelle last month. The dishes were truly exceptional, and the service was somehow even better! The dinning room was gorgeous and the overall guess experience was top tier from Dina and Alison. I definitely recommend starting with the crudo. Chef Jordan, Chef Michael, and Chef Bella really know what they are doing!!! The whole team at Annabelle works really hard and it shows. Love this place!!!

5 stars for service alone. Food was also excellent. I was here for a group dinner, so we had a prixe fixe menu and I didn't get to choose from the larger menu, but the options were great anyway. The ginger squash soup was particularly good. I also had one of the best aviation cocktails I've ever had upon a gin recommendation from our great server. The layout of the restaurant is well thought out and the ambiance fits both a romantic setting or a business dinner and everything in between.

Annabelle provided one of thee BEST restaurant experiences I’ve ever had! The feng shui was pure perfection! We were seated in one of their private rooms and it felt like we were in a literal greenhouse. The air was so fresh and the natural light made the atmosphere feel like a movie! The gold accents and pops of color were so pleasing to the eye in the main dining area as well! The staff was attentive and informative. They welcomed us with smiles and insight regarding the menu! They were so polite! I want to give a HUGE shoutout to the restaurant Manager Dina and our waitstaff Arin! The took good care of us! When I say I LOVE them! I mean it. They made us feel like we were the only guest and more over they made us feel like more than just dining guest! Dina and Arin are perfect examples of what 5 Star customer service looks/feels like! The food was nothing short of extraordinary! The oysters were ridiculously fresh and slightly sweet. The mignonette and lemon were a perfect pairing. We also had the Braised Pork Belly and the Roasted Leaks! The pork belly was seasoned so well and the hosin ju was a match I never knew I needed! The leaks we new for me and they were DELICIOUS! They melted in my mouth. I could’ve eaten 10 more LOL!! Our cocktails were also good, it tasted like they were made with fresh ingredients. I could taste how fresh the basil and mint was in my Mojito. My friend got a Mezcal Paloma and you can tell it was a fresh squeezed grapefruit, they smoke flavor wasn’t overpowering. Light but deliberate. Extremely well crafted cocktails! For our entrees we got the Branzino with watercress salad and King Salmon with roasted fennel! The branzio was cooked to perfection! The watercress salad was light but the flavor palette was excellent! The king salmon was tender and moist! Paired with the rusted fennel, grape tomatoes and sauce vierge, I felt like I was on a cloud! Everything was SO good! To finish it off we had the Vanilla Bean Peach Cheesecake and the Lemon Blueberry Poppyseed Cake. The cheesecake was by far the creamiest cheesecake I’ve ever had an I don’t even like cheesecake! It was a great balance. The lemon blueberry poppyseed cake had the right amount citrus and blueberry. They poppyseed brought a great texture! Literally EVERYTHING I ate was amazing! I definitely plan on going back and recommending to everyone I know! Thanks for an amazing experience Annabelle 💋

Simply Banh Mi is a Vietnamese cafe located in Georgetown, Washington DC, offering a delightful dining experience with friendly and helpful service. The restaurant stands out for its wide variety of banh mi sandwiches, including options like crispy pickled daikon and carrot, fresh cilantro, cucumber, pork and pate, BBQ pulled pork, sugarcane shrimp, and tofu banh mi with crispy eggplant, peppers, soy sauce, and special chili sate.
They were super quick to get us our food! Lovely service especially for a place that is only takeout. Highly recommend the tofu Banh mi, it was a great meal, so delicious and extremely affordable. I got the mango habanero sauce and it was so delicious. Make sure to order based on the wait time for food.

New location opened in Arlington - I would have loved to like this place as there aren't great Bahn Mi spots near by but I came for lunch and was disappointed. Only 4 people infront of me but had to wait ~25 minutes for a sandwich and I'm not sure what sandwich I received. I ordered a classic Vietnamese cold cut combination and ended up with something that had shredded meat, no cilantro, and a hefty amount of spice. The bread was good but not worth the extended wait/disappointing ingredients.

Awesome place for Pho. They said all the meats are halal. We ordered lemongrass beef and beef brisket pho. We also ordered appetizer combo. Lemongrass beef pho I think is little spicy. So be careful if you don’t eat much spicy food! Service was very good.

I was in the DC area for the first time due to some work and during the lunch break I decided to look up if there were any halal restaurants near me at the time. I saw the usual Kabob places and was surprised when I saw a Vietnamese restaurant come up under Halal. A little skeptical, but I decided to check it out. I'm so glad I did! It was easy to find. Lovely place. Looked great from the inside and out! It has seating for about 16-18 people all inside. Menu was simple and easy to understand. I was there with my brother and we were both excited at the fact that they had Halal Beef and Halal Chicken. Diana was the one who greeted us and helped us by explaining the type of dishes they served. Very nice person. I ordered the Rice bowl with Lemon Chicken, Peanut sauce, Peppers, and a Fried Egg. So delicious! Can't describe how amazing the food was. It looked wonderful and tasted even better! One thing though, I eat a lot of food personally and I would've liked a little more rice. While I waited for the food I talked with John. Really cool guy. We got to talking about why they chose to serve halal food in their restaurant, how they started up "Simply Banh Mi", how far they've come, and if they're going to open another one any time soon. Really nice people, location, great food, and I'll definitely be coming back again with my family and friends!

Got the tofu banh mi. I picked up my sandwich on time. The service estimated 1 hr for the order to be ready. The sandwich ended up being cold. In addition the sandwich itself was mid, you can definitely get a better banh mi almost anywhere else. Also the establishment looks very rundown. It's pick up only and the door is locked. Not sure why this place is so locked down. At the very least let people come inside and order or stand and wait for their order. Food was subpar and definitely not worth the hassle.

We did not dine in so I can not comment on the any other aspects apart from the food. The sandwich DAMN..! It’s one of the best Banh mi sandwiches I have eaten. We got the lemon chicken, cold cuts and BBQ pork. Not even one disappointed us. The sandwich was crunchy at the same time easy to bite in. The flavors were amazing. Not too spicy, not soggy as well. I would go with their recommendations about the sauce and toppings. If you are craving or wanting to try a Banh mi, don’t even hesitate this is the place to go to. The staff were so friendly. Heads up- it’s on a busy street with not much of parking, there is a street behind where you can park and walk for five min.

Rice Bar is a bright and simple cafeteria-style eatery that offers Korean rice and noodle bowls. The star of the menu is the Korean bibimbap, featuring layers of rice, vegetables, and meat for a well-balanced meal. Customers can customize their bibimbap to their liking. Visitors can also enjoy other options like ramen and Tan Tan Noodle from the featured set menu.
Really tasty. Fast. Big portions. You can build your own bowl or choose a featured recipe. Minimal seating but seats seem to open regularly. You will be sitting next to a stranger during peak times. There is takeout though also. I'd recommend asking for it to-go anyway cause you might not finish the whole thing.

I enjoyed my meal! Pleasantly surprised with the speed of service for how large the crowd was when we arrived. Portion seemed good except they add so many up charges that it is quite expensive in the end. Do not think $10-15 think more like $18-$22 for not a massive meal. The veggies seemed fresh and the rice was good! Downsides would be that my bulgogi was primarily fat not meat. And the fried egg on top was cold. I liked the style and ease of the order cards!

I really loved this place. The food is delicious and high quality, the staff was fast and friendly, and the prices are fair. Great value for money. I’ll definitely come back!

This is a really neat place. Came with a group of people of very diverse dietary needs and tastes during lunch and everyone got something they loved, those who eat vegan, those who do gluten-free and those who are dairy-free, and it was all tasty. Great noodles and sauces. Plus the people who run the place had a good attitude and simply aimed to serve us. Great choice if you want fresh and custom!

Service: Came with a friend while we were in the area. The ordering process was smooth—you select your ingredients using a sheet, which keeps things simple. There were only two staff members preparing food, so even though it wasn’t too busy, the wait was longer than expected. Staff was polite but minimal interaction overall. Taste: The food was flavorful and tasted fresh. Everything came together really well in the bowl, and it definitely felt like a more authentic take on a fast-casual rice bowl spot. The ingredients looked and tasted high quality. Ambiance: Very casual, more of a quick-eat or takeout kind of place. Not ideal for a sit-down meal if you’re looking for atmosphere, but it gets the job done for a fast and tasty option. Overall Review: Rice Bowl is a solid spot for a quick and flavorful meal. Just be mindful that it’s more expensive than similar build-your-own places like Cava or Chipotle, especially with add-ons. That said, the food tastes fresh and authentic, so it’s worth trying if you’re nearby.

A great place for rice/noodle bowls and dumplings! There are multiple options for customizations! Great taste and quantity is great.

First time trying the place. We were not sure what to order first but decided to try both rice dish and noodle dish. I did not have high expectation for noodle soup but it was unexpectedly light and good flavor. I picked bulgogi for rice dish. It was good as well. Service was fast. I'd eat here again. There's some gluten free option as well even though no meat for that option.

Restaurant
The Duck & The Peach is a bright and airy restaurant located in Capitol Hill, offering a modern atmosphere and patio seating. Led by Executive Chef Katarina Petonito, the establishment focuses on using local and seasonal ingredients, with an emphasis on natural and organic products free of hormones and antibiotics. The menu features dishes like wild mushroom polenta, rotisserie Pekin duck, seared scallops, and other American comfort foods sourced from local farms.
What a wonderful, long-awaited first visit to Duck & The Peach! I love it when a restaurant lives up to its hype, and that was the case here. First, the staff was professional, welcoming, helpful and great at their jobs; the menu was creative; the dishes were superb; the drinks were tasty; and the night was memorable. I happened to be dining mostly with vegetarian friends last night, so the items trended in that direction. I was not disappointed. The carrots, salad, beer risotto and brussels sprouts were absolutely delicious. The lamb chops were delightful, and my only regret is not being able to try some of the other meat dishes. I had neither a duck nor a peach, and alas, I loved my experience and will be back soon.

What a enjoyable dinning experience for restaraunt week. And although we did not chose the menu, we had a extent opportunity to experience some of the best dishes. Lamb gets 5 stars and the sides are eneough to share for a table of 4. Desserts were very good and service was attentive and timely. Other enjoyable dishes included the tomato risotto, whipped potatoes, chicken and butter leaf salad . Price point was $$$

Positives are the staff here are amazing and friendly and super helpful and the vibes in here are dope. The con? The portion sizes are small as hell and the prices just are not worth it.. I paid $26 for a small burger with no fries…. That’s just crazy…. $20.00 for 3 tacos ? That’s just ridiculous. I won’t be back here again.

Super nice dinning area around the Eastern Market. The duck fat home fires were so good! Definitely recommended. We ordered the duck carnitas, the cinnamon roll, and the brunch burger! It was all so delicious! Love all the style of the indoor and outdoor dining area.
Tommy T — Google review
I ordered the watermelon salad and lamb chops. Food was slightly underwhelming; the rapini/broccolini that came with the lamb was totally overcooked and tasted bitter (see photo). Service was great. I really appreciated my server informing me of the 20% service charge before I ordered and before I paid.
Chester C — Google review
The duck carnitas were very delicious. The brunch menu seemed a bit limited and not many non-alcoholic options! The atmosphere in the restaurant was great, but the server may wish to speak less hastily … especially after we’ve asked her to repeat herself … at the end of the day we go for brunch to enjoy it at a leisurely pace.
Alfahad91 — Google review
First off we had the best experience because of Emily! She's full of fun energy and very knowledgeable about the entire menu. Their menu is designed for family style so we ordered a little of everything. Steak Tartar, crab risotto, brussel sprouts, lamb, pork, and scallops. Emily suggested a chenin blanc and a hibiscus margarita which were fantastic. Be sure to save a little room for dessert as the chocolate raspberry chouffait and rhubarb brown butter torte! Overall wonderful vibe and we will be sure to come back and try out the Italian side of the business plus the speakeasy.

We have gone here for Valentine’s Day and it has been great both times! The carrots are my absolutely amazing! The drinks are also very tasty and I hear their pastry chef is the best in town, though every time we go we are too full for dessert! We sat by the kitchen window which made for a fun time watching them cut of the ducks :)

Ramen restaurant
Ramen by UZU started as a small pop-up inside Honeycomb Grocer in Union Market and has gained recognition as the best affordable Japanese restaurant in the DMV area. Customers appreciate the flavorful broth and customizable toppings, with separate containers for noodles and broth along with reheating instructions. The shoyu ramen is a favorite, especially when paired with tender chicken. Despite slightly undercooked noodles, patrons find the flavors authentic and enjoy the friendly service at this cute little stall.
This is easily the best kept secret at Union Market - maybe also the best secret Ramen in DC??? I was there again this past weekend and also tried the noodles (cold) - incredible! The worst part about going to this place is deciding between all the great options on the menu. Staff is very friendly and nice too. I'm not sure if the Japanese guy is the owner or not, but he is very friendly and helpful, a true gem that really helps make the experience.

Delicious sesame noodles. Sweet, spicy, savory, and served with chicken and veggies. My palette was thoroughly satisfied. It was prepared quickly as well.
Christopher Y — Google review
I was pleasantly surprised by this place located in a food court that my husband wanted to visit. It is reasonably priced and the staff is extremely helpful & friendly. Side note, their broth is not as rich or salty as other ramen places which I prefer.
Lin W — Google review
Cute little Ramen stall with friendly service and some tasty options. I felt the flavors were authentic Japanese and the broth was delicious. I think my noodles may have been slightly undercooked but not enough to ruin my meal. Reasonably priced option for a quick bite at union market… I would try again.

Had the Japanese Curry Rice Bowl and it was amazing! It was pure comfort food, and made me feel great! Food was fresh and done quick. It's hard to consider any other establishment in the market, knowing that this place is here. A must try!
Christian A — Google review
The menu said "soft-boiled egg," but what was actually served was a very undercooked poached egg. The egg whites were barely cooked and the yolk was cold and raw. The noodles and chicken were decent, but the chicken shio broth just tasted like plain chicken stock. The spinach was also raw. Personally, I would not come back here.

Trader Joe's is a delightful grocery chain that offers an impressive array of signature products, fresh produce, dairy items, and even a selection of wine and beer. Shoppers can enjoy the spacious layout and efficient service that makes every visit enjoyable. Although you might occasionally find some favorites missing from the shelves—like mac and cheese—the friendly staff ensures that lines move quickly, making your shopping experience smooth and hassle-free.
It is always nice to know when there is a Trader Joe’s around, so had to walk to find this one. It’s somewhat bigger than the one in Des Moines which is nice. They have pre-made lunch options and a lot of their usual great products. I found peanut butter filled hard candy which brought back memories of sweets I loved as a kid in South Africa. What a treat!

If you like getting in and outta the store, this is where you wanna go. Seemed like everyone is fast-paced and is on a mission. Food stockers are helpful and always refilling things. Check out lines go very fast and all super nice. Prices are good to and oddly a good verity of options for how small the store is. Parking garage was convenient and easy to find. Getting out might be kind of annoying since the lane is pretty small, so people coming in makes it tight.
Craig B — Google review
I love visiting Trader Joe's throughout the country. Nice wine selection, although small. Aisles were pretty wide and fresh produce was plentiful. Be mindful of coming from the street and not the garage that there are stairs. Look for the elevator or ramp. As always the personnel are nice.

Competitive prices & great products with easy access via the Red line, gratis parking garage, or bike share. However it's all TJ products, some things like cola may be hard to find & meat is more expensive. It's also an absolute madhouse on Sundays until later in the event & the 9pm closing time can sneak up on you.

The traffic around this Trader Joe's is very busy and can get congested. Surprisingly though the inside of the store is much more spacious than the other stores I've been to in DC. Products are consistent and always in stock.

Great variety of pumpkin-flavored products! I had a wonderful time exploring the many pumpkin options available. The store was clean, and the checkout line moved smoothly. The only hiccup was the attitude of one of the cashiers, who appeared to be the “lead cashier” based on his name tag. He came across as a bit rude and didn’t embody the role of a “lead cashier,” which was unfortunate and left a sour note at the end of my shopping experience at this Trader Joe’s.

Momofuku CCDC is a modern, airy restaurant with two sections - the Milk Bar and the Noodle Bar. The Milk Bar offers a casual dining experience with an extensive menu that changes with the seasons. The Noodle Bar offers various types of noodles served in various ways.
The food here is delicious. The restaurant is casual and pleasant. We made a reservation, which definitely helped saved time. The food was served rather quick. We ordered the spicy cucumbers, butter bread and pimento cheese bread, chickpea stew, noodles, and rib eye. All of the plates were really amazing. I also had the chocolate truffles for desert, a rich sweet treat to end the experience. The food is a little pricey, but I would definitely come back!
Lauren C — Google review
I've been going here several times for lunch. Their service is always exceptional with a friendly staff. The food is generally good, but sometimes with its creative ideas, the food can be a miss at times. The good: Favorite appetizer is Bing! Can't get enough of it especially the butter, spice, and honey mixed in. The Rotisserie Chicken is moist and delicious. The Pork Rib was on a hidden menu that the bartender told me about, and it is really meaty and good! It can be messy since you have to eat it with your hands, but the flavor is juicy and worth it. The bad: Spicy Black Bean Noodle. I know they changed the menu where it is just Black Bean Noodle now, so maybe it has changed. I'm assuming this is a chef's creation but the dish is nothing like a typical standard black bean noodle because there was no sauce so the noodles were dry, and the spice just didn't go well with this dish. The ugly: The Cumin Spiced Lamb Bing Wrap is very presentable, and they give you a good amount of lamb, but each bite of the lamb had a weird after taste that stayed in my mouth. I had to keep drinking water to make the taste go away. Overall, I enjoy coming here for the bing and seeing what other creative ideas the chef has.

This place lived up to the hype. Everyone left satisfied with their meal. I guess it’s sort of an Asian American fusion place. The setup of the restaurant gives good vibes. The bread they give you as a starter was excellent and especially good with the crab dip. The hominy stew was a little spicy but very good and full of veggies. The fish dish with the lettuce wraps was also amazing and we were raving about the sauce on the steak. A little on the pricy side but excellent service and food. I’ll definitely come back.
Rebecca C — Google review
We were in the area and this happened to pop up on our maps of good places to eat. We were fortunate enough to get parking on the street, and it appears that we arrived at the perfect time of day. We walked in and were seated right away. The host was gracious and our server, Evan, was definitely the reason our trip was perfect. I was not familiar with the menu at all, and his expertise helped me choose the spicy cucumbers as well as the cumin spiced lamb. What a treat! I can’t say enough about the service, the food, the drinks, and the DESSERT! I hadn’t had my coffee for the day, and the affogato was the perfect treat! If you’re looking for a nice spot for drinks after work, a place to meet friends for tasty food that’s also not too heavy, or just want a place to sit at the bar and enjoy the ambience, this place is for you! We will definitely be back.

Food is spectacular. Yesterday We had pork noodles, pork buns, shrimp buns, fried Brussels sprouts and our favorite was the Biscuit Bites! Check out our pictures. It was too much food, so we came back today for its popular milk shakes and had Crack Pie Milkshake AMAZING!!!

Nice for solo dining - great service; Good first experience. I ordered the vegetarian chickpea broth with noodles. They accommodated my request for the addition of rice cakes for the price of “extra noodles.” The noodles were nice and thick and cooked perfectly. The addition of rice cakes made it even better texture and taste wise ;). The broth was hearty and satisfying for the cold weather outside. It was much too salty for my taste, but I finished the contents of my bowl!

Great and distinct member of the Momofuku family of properties. The roots reaching to San Francisco's The Progress are evident here in everything from the knowledgeable service staff to the muted blue tones of their uniform. The menu rotates but with the Bing breads being a staple and a must try. Nice atmosphere, good crowd, and an excellent dinner.

Made a reservation for lunch on a whim the morning off and it was a good choice. There was a little bit of a wait if you showed with no reservation but we were whisked right in. The place is big and a nicely decorated open space. The servers were fabulous and incredibly friendly. We liked the food but we're not blown away (As we were for Ma Peche in NYC). The cocktail my husband had was pretty good. Overall a good experience and I would return to see what dinner is like.

Café Riggs is a sophisticated restaurant located in the charming Riggs Hotel, offering New American cuisine in an elegant setting. The café is known for its gorgeous ambiance, locally sourced food, and unique space. It has received high praise for its brunch and sophisticated decor, making it an ideal spot for an intimate dinner. The menu features French, American, and European cuisine with standout dishes like perfectly executed halibut and a caviar and potato chips appetizer.
We take a breakfast in this Michelin-starred café Riggs in Washington for breakfast, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and very professional. From the moment we walked in, we felt well taken care of. The atmosphere is elegant yet cozy, making it a great spot to start the day. While the prices are definitely on the higher end, the presentation and ambiance help justify the cost to some extent. As for the food, it was good—nothing groundbreaking, but solid and well-prepared. The pastries were fresh, the coffee was excellent, and the eggs were cooked to perfection. If you’re looking for a refined breakfast experience in D.C. with top-tier service, this café is definitely worth considering.

Café Riggs – Beautiful Place, But a Bit of a Hiccup Café Riggs is easily one of the most beautiful spots in D.C.—full of history, charm, and style. From the moment you walk in, you feel it. The building is stunning, the layout unique, the ceilings high, and the atmosphere warm and classy. It truly feels like you’re stepping into something special. I went with a few friends for brunch, and most of the experience was top notch. The staff was great, especially our server—super accommodating. We asked for a caviar service, even though it wasn’t on the menu, and to our surprise, the manager made it happen. He was kind and professional throughout. The food was excellent—seafood, caviar, champagne—all fresh and delicious. It really felt like a five-star experience… almost. The only real letdown was how the food came out. We ordered a seafood tower, caviar, a few breakfast items, croissants, sausages (both pork and chicken), and a strip steak. But after nearly two hours at the table, the croissants, sausages, and steak still hadn’t arrived. No updates, no check-ins—just silence. When we finally said we had to go, they rushed to the kitchen, made everything quickly, and packed it to-go. They explained they were waiting for us to finish eating before bringing the rest out, but honestly, that felt like an excuse. Especially when you look at the receipt—it’s clear those items (like the croissant and sausages) were part of our main order, not something we added later. Croissants and sausage are basic brunch starters—they should’ve come out early, especially with the caviar. And if there was going to be a delay, they could’ve at least checked in or offered to remove them from the bill. We spent over $1,000 on brunch (with tax and tip), so we expected a bit more care in the details. So yes—the place is beautiful, the food is great, and the service is friendly. But a mistake like that—especially at this level—left a bit of disappointment at the end. That’s why, instead of five stars, I’m giving three.

Everything about this place is amazing. The high ceilings, the architecture, the lighting, the comfy lounge seating area, the sound and the service and oh my goodness the dessert. This tart was spectacular it is the only thing we ordered because we had already had dinner elsewhere but we plan to come back as the menu looks fantastic.

Had an absolutely wonderful time at Cafe Riggs today. When you walk in, the atmosphere is the first thing you recognize, as it’s stunning. When you sit down, the service is phenomenal. I saw 4 servers, with my main server as Jasmine, and they were all knowledgeable, delightful, and warm. I got the bottomless mimosa cart, avocado toast, and lobster mac. The portions reflected the price, and all tasted great! I now have lunch tomorrow, and am very happy with what I ordered. Cannot wait to bring friends here, and I’m so glad I stopped by!

Beautiful decor with historical charm-Café Riggs has to be the best hotel bar in downtown DC. If you want delicious cocktails crafted for a sophisticated palate, this the place to go to. The servers and bartenders are always friendly and attentive. For brunch, I recommend their champagne cart or bottomless martinis and crème brûlée for dessert.

If you’re in D.C., this café is a must. The interior is dreamy — golden tones, velvet seating, vintage mirrors, and natural light pouring in. I had brunch here and the vibe was effortlessly chic. The coffee was top-notch, and the menu felt elevated without being overwhelming. Try their pastries — they’re flaky perfection. Service was warm and attentive, and I truly appreciated the peaceful energy. 📍The kind of place you want to linger a little longer — whether you’re meeting a friend or just treating yourself.

As a guest staying at The Riggs Hotel, Café Riggs was an absolute lifesaver and a highlight of my stay. If you're looking for a convenient, delicious, and genuinely friendly spot for both breakfast and dinner without ever having to leave the building, look no further. Unbeatable Convenience & Healthy Start: Mornings can be hectic, but the breakfast here made everything easy. I was able to grab a truly healthy and flavorful option—like their fantastic avocado toast or a hearty yogurt parfait with fresh fruit and granola—and get on with my day. It was the perfect alternative to a rushed, sugary pastry and felt like a proper, nourishing start. The coffee was excellent and kept me going for hours. Unexpectedly Great Dinners: I ended up having dinner here on a night I was just too tired to venture out, and I'm so glad I did. The dinner menu is surprisingly robust! The dishes we tried were flavorful and felt thoughtfully prepared, far beyond standard "hotel food." It was clear that care goes into the ingredients and presentation. The Best Part: The Staff: The team at Café Riggs is wonderful. Everyone, from the morning baristas to the evening servers, was incredibly friendly and attentive. They remembered my name after the first visit and always had a genuine smile. It made the experience feel personal and warm, like a neighborhood spot you’ve been going to for years. Incredible Value: For the quality of the food and the level of service, the prices are honestly unbeatable, especially for a hotel restaurant. You get fantastic value for your money. Final Verdict: Café Riggs isn't just a hotel café; it's a real asset to The Riggs Hotel experience. It delivers on all fronts: delicious food, a healthy and convenient menu, kind service, and great prices. I highly recommend it to any guest and will definitely be enjoying meals here on my next stay.

What a beautiful building that is home to Riggs Cafe & Hotel! Has been a favorite for many years, but recent visit (July 2025) left me a bit at a 3 star. It took a very very very long time to get food for 4 people on a Tuesday afternoon! And it wasn’t busy at all! The service was polite, but extremely slow - we had to ask for water 3 times… and when we did get the food, nobody checked on us and it was overcooked (oily); Brussels weren’t crispy and some hot items were room temperature. I was used to excellent level of good and services here, but may not consider going back as the 1st on my mind when visiting DC again.

Restaurant
Makan is a Malaysian restaurant in Columbia Heights that offers a unique dining experience. The chef, James Wozniuk, draws inspiration from his travels to Malaysia and presents dishes like nasi lemak and pineapple curry. The menu reflects the fusion of Indian and Chinese flavors with options such as curry noodle soup and fried chicken with a Malaysian twist. Guests can also enjoy outdoor seating while savoring dishes like chicken satay with peanut sauce and pickled sides.
Wow...what a gem?! I love this tucked away quaint location. I almost walked right past it, but so glad I did not. The food and drinks were delicious (including dessert). Also very fresh. We came here for the first time last night and were very impressed. Our server Peter was very attentive and helpful with making recommendations and explaining the dishes. He definitely took good care of us. Besides the outstanding service, the food was delicious. The roti are a must try as well as the mango salad and chicken skewers with peanut sauce. We had a lovely dinner and will definitely be back.

The food was delicious. We had a number of things - mango salad, the potatoes, the dry beef curry, the pickled pineapple and roti and the Penang street noodles. Overall, everything we had was delicious and tasty. The highlight for me however was the service. Our waiter was Peter. He is hands down one of the best waiters I’ve ever had in my life. He was so attentive and considerate. He always seemed to anticipate our needs and took care of them expeditiously. Then we found out it was only his second day working- wow! So incredible for only being his second day. So overall, atmosphere was good, food was good and service by Peter was FANTASTIC!

I truly wanted to like this place. I went in with fairly high expectations and ended leaving disappointed. I ordered the chicken satay, which was decent. My main entree was the nasi ganja and it was quite unpleasant. Let me preface this by saying that I grew up eating various Southeast Asian cuisines, so this flavor combination and ingredients aren’t exactly a huge leap outside my comfort zone. The salted duck egg was extremely overpowering and had a soapy aftertaste. I couldn’t take another bite of it and had to wash it down with water to avoid spitting it out. The coconut chutney was so bitter and the slimy okra didn’t add anything to the dish. This dish was a giant train wreck of flavors and not worth $25.00. Maybe it was my fault for ordering the nasi ganja and perhaps I would’ve fared better with their other entrees. Lesson learned. The service was borderline neglectful. The table next to me was charged the wrong bill which belonged to a different table entirely, so make sure you check your final tab. They also include a note on the menu saying they automatically tack on 10% service charge and that it’s not considered the final tip.

What's good? The Penang Street Noodles (Char Kway Teow) were amazing. We wish we had ordered more to go. It's rare to find a dish in DC with Chinese sausage. The fried potatoes were delicious! Highly recommend those two. The Spicy Hakka Noodles were very good after I mixed all ingredients together, very filling too. The Chicken Skewers were nothing special. I also wish the service was more attentive. They brought the entree before bringing the appetizers/small plates and brought my drink long after we got all of our food.

We were thrilled to discover this award-winning Malaysian restaurant in DC and will definitely return to try more of their dishes. We loved the authentic flavors of Malaysia in every dish we tried, especially their Char Kway Teow, which had that authentic charcoal smoke flavor. The atmosphere of the place was great. The service was also good. After a delicious meal, their sago with coconut cream and gula melaka was perfect.

Came here for Friday dinner—made reservations at a high top, and were seated right away. The place was fairly packed and had an energetic vibe. Food was good—although we did enjoy the food, I didn’t find anything particularly special. My top favorites were the Ayam Goreng (Fried chicken with salted duck yolk), Char Kway Teow (Penang Street Noodle—but overloaded with Chinese sausage vs. shrimp) and the Baby Bok Choy (the gravy is really good). For appetizer, the Chicken Sate was only decent if you ate it with the peanut sauce otherwise it’s bland—the Kerabu Mangga (Mango Salad) was okay, spicy kick, but an unnecessary big portion for an appetizer, that ended up going to waste. Cocktails were okay—I liked the Halia & Serai (Malaysian gimlet). Service was amazing—our server Caitlin was great—friendly and attentive. Note, this place does add an automatic 22% service fee that goes to all the staff.

I am thrilled to share my experience at Makan, a Malaysian restaurant that had been on my list for quite some time. After following them on social media for a while, I finally decided to take the plunge and fly to DC to check out their brunch menu. Although the dinner menu also looked enticing, I was particularly interested in seeing how Asian restaurants approached brunch. Malaysian food is difficult to define, as it combines the culinary traditions of Malay, Chinese, and Indian cultures. At Makan, they strike the perfect balance by representing Malaysian cuisine as it should be - a blend of flavors from each major group. The result is a menu that is a true representation of what Malaysian food should be. You will find a mix of dishes from each ethnic group, including the nationally acclaimed dish nasi lemak. I ordered a variety of dishes and enjoyed them all. The kerabu mangga, a green mango and calamansi salad tossed with fermented shrimp paste sambal, was a perfect balance of sweet, sour, tangy, and refreshing. The cucur udang, fluffy shrimp fritters fried to perfection, were delightful with the tamarind chili sauce on the side. The peanut sauce served with the sate ayam was a standout, made with roasted peanuts, palm sugar, tamarind, lemongrass, galangal, chili peppers, and shallot - a classic accompaniment to this traditional chicken skewer. The roti banjir, a roti topped with coconut curry, dhal, sambal, and a soft egg, won me over with the first bite. The sambal, which generally refers to chili paste in Malay, is used in many dishes at Makan and enhances the flavors. Mixing it with the runny egg yolk, then taking a bite of the roti with curry, creates a creamy sensation followed by a sweet and spicy kick from the sambal. The sambal also worked its magic in the nasi lemak, the national dish of Malaysia, which consists of fragrant steamed rice cooked with coconut milk and pandan. Makan's version features generous amounts of sambal over the rice, along with chicken confit, fried anchovies, boiled egg, and cucumber on the side. The rice is cooked to perfection, fragrant, and the sambal ties all the flavors together beautifully. I also ordered the ayam goreng perempah, fried chicken with chili crumbles and tomato sambal, and the char kway teow, a street food noodle known from Penang, which was stir-fried to perfection. The dish's success relies on the "wok Hei," the flavors and tastes imparted from a hot wok during stir-frying. The dish is simple and requires skillful technique, which Makan executes flawlessly. The special of the day was a pan-seared daikon turnip cake with bean sprouts in soy and chili oil, which had a dense, glutinous texture and a contrastingly crispy seared side with a perfect savory flavor from the sauce. Makan also offers several acar, a staple vegetable pickle in Peranakan cuisine, and the kitchen kindly sent a sampler to try. The pickles were delicious on their own, but I loved adding them to my dishes to create more flavors. For dessert, I enjoyed the sago, a tapioca pearl dessert with coconut pandan cream and palm sugar. Overall, Makan is the best Malaysian restaurant I have been to in the USA. The menu sets a definitive tone for what Malaysian food should be, and the true Malaysian food culture is successfully conveyed with a modern twist and traditional flavors combined. I can't wait to go back!

Nestled in the heart of the Foggy Bottom neighborhood, Flower Child is a delightful haven for health-conscious food lovers. With its charming decor and vibrant atmosphere, this eatery specializes in an array of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options that are as nourishing as they are delicious. Diners can indulge in colorful salads, hearty bowls filled with ancient grains and sweet potato noodles, or wraps brimming with organic greens and perfectly seared vegetables. But fear not meat enthusiasts!

We got a few dishes. The queso, cauliflower risotto, squash mushroom noodles, and sides of shrimp and tofu. A couple of thoughts for each. The queso and chips were good. Cauliflower risotto had way way too much sage - it was so overpowering. You'll see the abundance of sage in one of the pictures. I liked the squash mushroom noodles. The shrimp and tofu were severely under seasoned. I understand the theme being healthy but it tasted like there wasn't any salt in it. Overall the taste of the food was inconsistent - some good and others not. I still would come back to try their other dishes. Atmosphere was good. Bright and inviting. Staff were great.

Flower child is a vibrant restaurant offering a wide variety of healthy meals in the Foggy Bottom area. Salads, bowls, entrees, wraps - whatever you’d like - with protein options like chicken, steak, salmon, shrimp, and tofu. Located next door to North Italia, it’s a great lunch spot. Always busy but with quick service. Flower Child is an unbeatable salad spot. Only complaint is the pricing - I’ve gone here several times and each visit is between $20-30. For the casual dining environment, the prices are a bit steep. However, the portions are generous and food’s tasty. I’ll continue to dine here and recommend anyone looking for a solid and casual networking location, quick meal, and healthy salad.

This place has great vegan and vegetarian options, and is really cute inside! We came here for a quick lunch. You order at the front and after seating yourself your food is brought to you. I got the grilled chicken thigh yaki noodles. Although the portion seemed large I found myself hungry within an hour. It’s very light. The flavor was also ok, nothing amazing. My friend got the tofu wrap which she enjoyed. It’s a good place for a quick lunch, but didn’t feel anything stand out to me.

My date and I went here for the time tonight for dinner and it was nice! We were attracted to overall vibe of the restaurant. It’s almost a blend of fast casual and casual sit down restaurant. It has this fun, colorful and conscious vibe. Food - we got the bowls with protein added. They were tasty. It’s different from chipotle and cava in a global taste way. The drinks were blah and basic. Bathroom- clean and tidy! Overall, it’s a nice fast casual restaurant that I would eat at again. I would recommend this restaurant for a quick bit to eat.

I really wanted to love Flower Child -- after all, with such cute decor, an amazing menu of healthy options (including plenty of plant-based choices), and an adorable name, this place seemed to tick all the boxes. While the inside of the restaurant was indeed decorated beautifully, the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered their chopped vegetable salad with tofu and it was all just very...average. Despite the flurry of vegetables that the menu said the salad was supposed to have, it was definitely very lettuce-forward -- the other toppings were all piled on top (and, even so, still looked pretty lackluster) and the entire bottom 3/4 of the salad was just plain lettuce. The tofu was also pretty bland. It was "marinated," but it felt like the marinade only penetrated about 0.1 millimeters of the tofu, and the rest of the slice had very little flavor. Although $14 is a pretty average price to pay for a salad in DC, it felt way overpriced for what was basically a bowl of lettuce and unseasoned tofu. What bothered me most about the experience, though, was that not everything was fresh -- I found several pieces of wilted lettuce (some of which had become yellow, some of which had completely shriveled down into a rotten mess) and two of the very few snow peas they provided had mold on them. I don't mind a bland salad, but I do mind a salad that has the potential to make me sick...All in all, Flower Child was cute, but really didn't live up to the hype. I might give one of their bowls a try if I have to come back, but, honestly, I was pretty disappointed by the overall experience and I'll probably try to avoid coming here again.

Definitely not worth the money spent. Ordered Turkey & Avocado Cobb, in which I could hardly - really hardly - find any turkey and avocado. The dressing was nice, though. This is just another salad bar claiming to offer fancy healthy food. There are definitely better options out there.

Fast, fresh eats in a lively (and noisy) atmosphere. Went for lunch on a Friday and it was hard to find a seat. Thankfully there's communal space and people seemed willing to share. Had the soup of the day, which was mushroom miso and tomato toast. It totaled out around $15. Soup was good with lots of mushrooms and the toast was delicious but I feel like the portions were 80% what they should be for the price. Guess I paid for the halo? Service was friendly and quick. I was stoked to see that they use reusable plates and silver.
