Bakery
E5 Bakehouse is an artisan bakery and cafe in Hackney with a strong community focus. It started as a supplier of excellent loaves and has now expanded to offer mouthwatering brunches, organic lunches, and a variety of sweet and savory treats. The bakery's commitment to sustainability is evident in its use of fresh produce from its Suffolk farm, including organically grown wheat processed in its own stone mill.
I had an amazing time at the sourdough bread course at e5 Bakehouse last Saturday. It was a beautiful day, and the whole experience was inspiring from start to finish. Alex, our teacher, was fantastic—so enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about his craft. He made the learning process fun, clear, and really engaging. The rest of the team was just as warm and welcoming, creating a great atmosphere throughout the day. I learned so much and left with new skills, more confidence, and, of course, lots of bread! Highly recommend this course to anyone curious about baking or just looking for a special and enjoyable experience in London.

The place is quite nice with a supermarket corner and some fresh pastries. It looked appealing and there was an outdoor area too. The queuing wasn't clear and chaotic with lots of people. We had coffees and pastries (brownie and almond chocolate cakes). Coffees were okay but pastries very average, though all quite pricey. There are few tables inside but they were dirty as the place is very busy.
Cyrielle A — Google review
First time coming here and loved the space. Great selection of bread and cakes as well as drinks. I ordered a BLT and a slice of their danish which tasted great! They have outdoor and indoor seating. I had a lovely time catching up with a friend here for a few hours, staff were very attentive and quick to clear up empty plates. Laptop friendly environment, would definitely love to come back on my own and do some work.
Bee L — Google review
This is one of east London's most popular artisan bakeries, located right next to the entrance of London Fields train station. There is only a small sign to let people know that it's there. But once inside, it's like doctor who's TARDIS, bigger on the inside! I paid a visit early on Saturday morning, and it was bustling. Despite being located only a 5-minute walk from Broadway market I would think that this place gets very busy about Saturday lunchtime to afternoon. This place also roasts it own coffee, hence my interest. Prices are par for the course for an artisan bakery in London. I had a pain au chocolate and a flat white, both were excellent. Competition for artisan coffee in this part of London is tough, it has to be good and it most certainly is. Recommended by myself.

Loved the feel of the place and how it has a mini market. Very spacious and clean bathrooms if i may add. Delicious coffee didn't like the cookie they braged about, was kinda dry for me. Will definitely try other things if I ever was in the area again

Holy cow this was good!! I had the fried egg & halloumi bun, as well as a corn madeline/scone thing. The bun was yummm — super tasty bread with just the right balance of sweet/savoury/umami. I had the corn snack a little later and it really threw me off: moist inside but with a satisfying crust. Would 100% return, this time with an empty stomach and some grocery bags.
Min — Google review
Excellent place where they make their own bread starting from the wheat with a mini mill, we ordered sandwiches and soups, there was a lot of space outside.
Diego C — Google review
We went on a Saturday morning and didn’t have to wait long. There’s a good range of brunch options, the halloumi and egg bun was bigger than we expected so definitely worth the price and tasted great. The wild garlic swirl was also really good but tasted more pesto than garlic. Also took away a lime twist which had a good citrus-y flavour and the pastry was soft and flaky with a nice crunch to it on the outside although, it got a bit sweet after a few bites

Donut shop
Bread Ahead Bakery, located in Borough Market and various other spots around London, is renowned for its fresh sourdough bread, award-winning filled doughnuts, and delectable pastries like cinnamon swirls and pistachio pains au chocolat. The bakery's iconic doughnuts are a major draw, with flavors like salted caramel and classic vanilla custard.
I had the most amazing donuts at Borough Market! The dough is wonderfully fluffy, soft, and light, yet still rich and satisfying. Each donut is filled generously with delicious cream or jam, and the flavors are varied and exciting — there’s truly something for everyone. The balance between the filling and the dough is perfect, so every bite is indulgent without being too heavy. They also sell fresh bread, which looks just as tempting. Service is quick and friendly, and it’s super convenient that you can pay by card. Definitely a must-try if you’re in the market and craving something sweet and freshly baked!

Absolutely delightful experience at Bread Ahead Bakery in Borough Market, London! The food here is simply incredible — everything from the fresh pastries to the doughnuts is heavenly. You can really taste the quality and passion in every bite. The dough is wonderfully fluffy, soft, and light, yet still rich and satisfying. Each doughnut is filled generously with delicious cream or jam, and the flavours are varied and exciting — there’s truly something for everyone. The balance between the filling and the dough is perfect, so every bite is indulgent without being too heavy. The place has such a warm and inviting vibe; it’s hard not to smile as soon as you walk in. A special shoutout to Raghu, one of the staff members — he was so friendly, patient, and helpful! He made the whole experience even better with his cheerful attitude and great recommendations. Truly an asset to the team. Highly recommend Bread Ahead to anyone who loves good food and even better service! Don’t miss their Blackcurrant Cheesecake and Crème Brûlée Doughnut — both are absolutely divine and a must-try when you visit Borough Market! ❤️🍩
Malladhi H — Google review
Their dough is very good - light and fluffy - and are packed with filling. However, was disappointed with the lack of flavour in the blackcurrant - there was no blackcurrant jam on the inside, only the bit of jam dribbled on the outside, and the cheesecake filling didn't taste like anything at all, not even vanilla. Service was also a bit rude/dismissive. There are far better doughnut spots elsewhere - would not recommend going out of your way for this one - did not live up to the hype at all getting a flavourless doughnut.
Kat — Google review
Must try doughnuts when you are I. Borough market, if you go on the weekend it’s worth going through the crowds of borough market and the queue goes very quickly. The crème Brûlée is my favourite. In addition they do amazing savoury snacks also. There big pizza slices are great for a lunch bite or a snack. The olive and cheese stick is so good and you can’t beat their sourdough bread to take away. To make it even better they offer courses to learn how to make most of the items they sell. The pizza course and sourdough classes are great and you learn so much and get to eat as you go, normally with a baked good treat as a bonus.
Amber G — Google review
The food Is delicious, the display is also fantastic. They offer courses to book online and you have the chance to see the whole bakery function at all time. All kept clean and tidy. Well done
Giuseppe C — Google review
The flavour is just not there. 12:00 on Friday (last day before half-term), and it wasn't particularly busy in comparison to the hot food stalls. I got there just before the lunch-rush. The service for selecting the doughnuts was good and friendly, but the payment section was poor. The doughnuts are selected and nicely boxed up, and placed into a pile by the cashier. The cashier then shouts out the order and the customer pays. So, the next person in line is not necessarily the next customer to pay, especially if it's the same order as someone else. They need more space to line up the orders, in order. Flavour-wise, they were disappointingly bland. I had the creme brûlée and Pistachio. The fillings in both were tasteless. I couldn't tell if it was a meringue, cream, custard, creme pâtissière, or butter based. It was just "there". I had to really think about the Pistachio and vanilla to be able to taste them. Two good things: The dough had a good texture an a nice taste; the filling wasn't too sweet, sickly, nor rich. So, I would have much preferred a plain sugar covered doughnut. I don't know if they do them, but I want to say they are £2. I can't be sure, as it wasn't on my mind when buying them.
James K — Google review
I understand the hype around this place. Soft light donut pastry, creamy, not overly sweet fillings. I wish we'd tried the creme brulee donut because it looked great but our chocolate velvet and blackcurrant cheesecake was fantastic too. Long queues that move very quickly and pricing is fair for the taste and quality. You'll be covered with sugar dusting after eating but that's part of the experience.
Adi U — Google review
There's always a que at this stall. Tries their doughnuts and now I understand what the craze is about. The pistachio doughnut is amazing! One bite and the cream oozes out. Creme Brulee doughnut was also yummy!

Bakery
Fortitude Bakehouse offers a variety of baked goods such as bread, buns, cake, and coffee. Their sourdough loaves have a perfect balance of chewiness and tanginess, while their sticky buns are light and sweet. The cakes are also made from sourdough and fall somewhere in between. What sets this bakery apart is that all their cakes use either sourdough starters or fermented batters.
During my vacation in London I visited this bakery twice. Everything was great. The smell from bakery was awsome. Firstly I tasted hazelnut-chocolate pain suise with mocha cappuccino and it was great. The dough was crispy and pastry was well balanced. Ialso took berber omelette. Services was nice and helpful. It was friendly talk with the ladies. It could be better if will be there cozy inside sitting place in the future. Second visit was also very good experience. I tasted morning bun with blueberries and vanilla cream and I took matcha latte. Great combination. Nice latte art. Bun was full of filling (it could be more baked for me, but it is not necesary). Both visit were perfect start of the day. I am looking forward to next visit sometimes in the future.

Stopped here somewhat recently on a whim. Super busy! They have a really great selection available - We both had one of the beignets, which were very tasty but I think they could've been a bit more generous with the toppings for the price, service was quick and friendly, will definitely be back again if we're in the area.
Will — Google review
Fortitude Bakery is such a gem. Everything here tastes like it’s made with real love and quality ingredients. The pastries are flaky and fresh, but what really surprised me were the sandwiches — especially the chicken harissa. It’s bursting with flavor and perfectly balanced. You can taste the freshness in every bite, and the staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere makes it easy to linger over coffee or lunch. Definitely a must-visit when you’re in town.
Christy — Google review
I recently visited this bakery and was genuinely impressed by several of their pastries and drinks. I highly recommend the Hazelnut & Chocolate Custard pan suisse, which is rich, flaky, and layered with a perfect balance of nutty sweetness and silky chocolate. The Cinnamon & Stick Bun is another standout—warm, aromatic, and wonderfully comforting without being overly sweet. My favorite pastry might have been the Baked Plum Danish with Orange Custard Hazelnut crumb; the tart plum, bright citrus custard, and subtle hazelnut come together beautifully for a pastry that’s both unique and incredibly flavorful. However, the Blackberry Cinnamon Cream Beignet was a miss for me. The flavor combination didn’t come together well, and it was much too creamy, to the point where I couldn’t finish it. On the drink side, you should definitely try the Apple Matcha Latte. It’s absolutely delicious—refreshing, balanced, and surprisingly harmonious. I also tried the Chicken Harissa Baguette, which was flavorful and satisfying, making it a solid savory option worth ordering. Steaming outside only though
Ebaa A — Google review
Had been meaning to visit on a couple of previous London visits, having seen a lot about it online, and came here for some breakfast. Sure it's not the cheapest place you'll find and there will likely be a queue out the door for service, but I think it was worth it. A wide selection of sweet and savory to choose from. Tried the Almond Croissant and the Apple Custard Hand Pie. Both were delicious. Forget trying to eat without dropping any though, the flaky pastry is that flaky. The local pigeons clearly know this as well and were quickly on hand to pick the floor clean again. There was a wait for service, but the staff behind the counter were well organized and getting through as quickly as they could. Marked down one point for atmosphere. Plain wooden benches on the street outside might not be to everyone's liking, but to me just added to the experience.
Mark D — Google review
Fortitude Bakehouse Review: Coffee and Pastries Shine My recent visit to Fortitude Bakehouse was a mix of highs and one small low, but the exceptional quality of the baked goods certainly won me over. The coffee was lovely—perfectly brewed and exactly what I needed. The pastries were the real highlight, though! I ordered what I believe was the beignet (as pictured, dusted with cocoa/sugar), and it was absolutely delicious—light, airy, and a true indulgence. The standard of the baking here is clearly top-tier. On the service side, the young lady who served me was a little short and seemed a bit rude. I'm going to chalk it up to her having an off day, as we all have those moments. Hopefully, her day got better! Overall, if you're looking for outstanding pastries and coffee in London, Fortitude is a must-visit. The quality of the food and drink makes it worth overlooking the minor service issue.

Hidden away in a quiet passage, this little shop quickly became a favourite of mine. The staff are incredibly friendly and I loved the impressive range of pastries, with choices for both sweet and savoury moods. The first time I visited, I chose a feta and spinach pastry alongside a cinnamon bun — both were absolutely delicious. The experience was so enjoyable that I returned the next day and got a morning bun, which pleasantly surprised me with its subtle sweetness and light texture. I also tried two different coffees on my visits, and both were excellent — Very rich and the ideal companion to my pastries.
Karolin M — Google review
We had a Mocha Cream and Cherry Beignet. The buns were fresh and cream nice and fluffy. Not too - just the right amount. Really enjoyed it and will return. The seating outside is convenient and much needed. Definitely have the beignets, I will try other things next time.

Pophams is a patisserie known for its traditional and innovative croissants and baked goods, including weekend specials. The bakery has expanded its menu to include items like sourdough cheese toasties and artisan pasta. While the physical stores have closed, Pophams now offers delivery of pasta, sauces, bread, pastries, and cheese within a one-mile radius of London Fields. A portion of the proceeds from orders goes to support a local community food kitchen.
Lovely bakery with loads of outdoor seating on a peaceful street with a beautiful homegoods and pantry store next to the bakery. Highly recommend ham and cheese croissant and the cardamom bun. Bottled green juice was also excellent.
Maria Y — Google review
Now I get why people keep saying that Pophams is the best bakery in London. I tried the bacon and maple syrup bun and it tasted amazing, very balanced sweet and savoury. I also had an almond croissant that had a more particular taste but you can tell everything is fresh baked. There’s always a queque in the morning but it’s moving fast. The only thing I find quite stressful is that you have to order at the counter and then you don’t know if you’re going to find a table, if you go alone. I really want to go back next time I’m in London and try more pastries.
María T — Google review
This place is quite famous and happens to be close to my office. Really lovely environment with both indoor and outdoor seating — you can choose whatever you feel like! Their pastries are exceptional and huge! This is exactly what we all look for when it comes to delicious pastries, isn’t it? This is my second visit, and after checking the reviews, I decided to try the Bacon & Maple one since it seemed quite popular — and yes, it was absolutely delicious! The pastry was crispy yet moist from the maple syrup, not too sweet, and perfectly balanced with the bacon, which wasn’t too salty either. The sweet-and-savoury combo just made me keep eating! The croissant was also really good — fluffy and buttery — and the flan had a unique flavour, maybe dark sugar or malt? They also offer unlimited water, which is great for people like me who don’t drink coffee or tea. Definitely recommended, and I’ll be back again soon!
Michel M — Google review
The place has a really nice vibe and the service was very good. The highlight of the visit was definitely the pastry. We had the maple and bacon swirl and it was out of this world! The best pastry I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend getting it warmed up as well. The coffee was also very good. Will definitely come back :)
Adriana N — Google review
Great on a sunny day as there is lots of outdoor seating. We ordered the sweetcorn chowder which was served super hot with tangy fresh sourdough, the bacon maple swirl, this was nice but was expensive! My almond croissant was well filled and not too sweet but a little over cooked. For two coffees and the food it cost £27. We came on a Friday to a full cafe but we could get a table straight away.
Lily G — Google review
Highly recommend Pophams! I came here on my travels looking to try pastries in the UK and this was definitely the top place. We had the maple and bacon pastry. Was delicious, temperature was perfect, and was baked so well. Service was very friendly and really enjoyed the atmosphere as it was a chill and relaxing vibe. I also really liked how their menu showed which were vegan, and had nuts in it.
Devin V — Google review
Long queue on a Sunday brunch - same queue regardless of takeaway or dine in. Found a nice spot facing out, ordered the yoghurt with granola and portion was quite small for the price. Yoghurt also had a strange cream texture, still good. The classic parmesan twist was crispy and savoury. Cardamom bun was perfectly crispy with the savoury cinnamon flavor.
Tan M — Google review
The best pastries I’ve ever had in my life and this is not an exaggeration. The maple and bacon bun is so interesting and full of flavour, the coffee is incredible and I’ve come back to have the cardamom bun again and to share it with my mom and she loved it to. The lamination, the caramelised outside of the pastry, the butteriness, the salt levels and the rich cardamom flavour. It’s just perfect. Their coffee was also incredible. Would give it 1000/5 if I could. Will come back again, 100%.

Bakery
The Dusty Knuckle Bakery is a popular spot known for its creative sandwiches, salads, and fresh breads. In addition to their renowned loaves and filled focaccia sandwiches, the bakery has expanded its offerings to include sourdough pizzas with unique twists on classic flavors. The new outpost in Harringay serves up these delectable pizzas straight from a woodfired oven, accompanied by tiramisu and beer on tap.
so yum! ive had this bakery on my radar for a while now, and it was so worth the wait to come along. whilst £11 is obviously a lot for a sandwich, you 100% get what you pay for. The homemade bread was absolutely lovely and the sandwich was packed full of flavourful filling. the atmosphere was lovely, and sitting outside was great. service was brilliant and hardly a wait for my food either. i came at about 12 o’clock and didn’t have to queue, however when i left at 12:40 there was a large queue, so definitely get there a bit earlier if you want a sandwich! they deserve the popularity though, i absolutely loved this bakery.
Marcie — Google review
Fantastic bakery! Had the green bean, tomato and whipped feta sarnie which was delicious. The fruit pastry was also brilliant. Due to its popularity it does sell out early of certain products which is the only down side
Garth S — Google review
Really liked this place - very good croissant and excellent sandwiches. I got a pork sandwich, it was Asian style so came was full of interesting flavours and the pickled carrots etc balanced the pork nicely. I would say the sandwich is on the expensive side compared to other places which is why I didn’t rate it 5 stars
Ella R — Google review
Best sandwich I’ve ever had! If you want the focaccia sandwiches then you need to come at 11:30! The till doesn’t take payments for the order unless it is exactly 11:30 and after. Takeaway orders are collected outside of the shop. Although I’m not a big fan of coronation chicken, but they’ve done very well at combining different ingredients, crunchy nuts, herbs, green apple slices, not to mention the airy and flavourful sour dough potato bread, I can see why people queue up here for food. The only downside to me is that the place gets so busy and it can be crowded. Also as a first time visitor, there’s not much guidance on what to do, you just sort of figure it out. The location for me was a little hard to find, you walk down the alleyway and it is the shop to your right, the name of the shop wasn’t visible unless you step opposite the shop.

After being recommended this bakery I was eager to visit and it didn't disappoint. Maybe one of the largest bakeries you'll ever visit, hidden down the end of a back lane with extensive outdoor seating it's a great spot for brunch or lunch on the weekend just be prepared to que. I visited on a Saturday and waited no more than a couple of minutes and tried two of my favourite UK stallwards the Morning Roll (chai spiced sugar dusted cruffin) and the go-to Honey and Feta swirl which was laden with sesame and poppy seeds and was absolutely banging! All their pastries and bread looked top tier. Flaky lamination and a deep caramel crust on all their sourdough (just the way I like it!) The breakfast sando looked unreal, and is clearly a top seller for good reason. I look forward to my next visit to try the rest! Keep up the good work team! 🤘

Unbeatable breads, amazing sandwiches, and really creative options! The queue this past July 6th weekend was wild, but worth it! We waited in the queue about 20 minutes until we ordered, but there were plenty of tables and we were able to sit 4 of us at a table inside. Despite the crowds, service was so fast! Our sandwiches + drinks arrived within 8-10 minutes of ordering and were of course, the best in London. It’s the first time I’ve seen it this busy, but even with the queue, these baked goods are always worth it.

I had very high expectations because this place is recommended to me by a lot of people as “the best bakery in London”. It is very solid but there are many others similar to this, and much better ones for creative pastries
Mert C — Google review
I tried the aubergine peanut satay sandwhich which was full of flavour if a little bit messy with how much sauce they supplied. We also got a morning bun which was amazing. Along with their rooibos honey mint tea. I enjoyed this bakery with its beautiful indoor and outdoor setting tucked away off the main road. I will come back to try more.

Layla Bakery, located in Ladbroke Grove, West London, has quickly become a beloved neighborhood spot since its opening in March 2021. The bakery is known for its welcoming atmosphere and dedication to tradition. It offers a delightful range of baked goods made with seasonal ingredients and heritage grains, including pastries, sandwiches, and bread.
One of the best croissants in London, if not the best. There's always the stress of getting a seating:( but the pastries are worth it. That's why we keep going back. Also, I want to know if the coffees are in standard amount here because they seem a bit small.
Aysegul D — Google review
Delicious pastries and beautiful croissant lamination. Highly recommend if in the area even if there is a wait. It is a bit chaotic, hard to find a seat and not amazingly welcoming but makes sense given the popularity and tourist quantity.

I stopped by this bakery and tried the plain, almond, and pistachio dark chocolate croissants along with a coffee — and everything was so good! The croissants were perfectly flaky and buttery, with just the right balance of sweetness. The coffee paired perfectly with the pastries and really rounded out the experience. Overall, a fantastic spot for anyone who loves high-quality pastries. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Sweata P — Google review
One of the best bakery in the London. Their pastries are awsome. Pastries look and taste very good. I tried pistachio-dark chocolate pain souse and blackberry-almond danish. It was great. The dough was crispy, taste was balanced, not to sweet. Coffee was also good. In the future could be there some cozy sitting place inside. I sat outside. It was ok, hovewer inside place could be better. On the weekend they serve pastries only to the box and coffee to the paper cups. I prefer cup and plate. Also there was long queue. It is better to visit bakery early. Service was very nice and helpful and they talked with me. I am looking forward to next visit in the future.

Their pastries are so freaking delicious you’ll want to buy one of each I seriously couldn’t pick! The coffee is so good and there is outside seating. The staff is lovely and deserve to be praised for constantly dealing with all the queues.
Jana A — Google review
Layla Bakery in Notting Hill looks beautiful from the outside and their baked goods are undeniably well-presented – precise, neat, and very photogenic. However, once you get past the appearance, the taste doesn’t quite deliver. The pastries lack the depth and aroma you’d expect from really great butter – that rich, rounded flavour you find in the best French viennoiserie. Instead, they come across a bit bland, and the fillings aren’t particularly generous either. On top of that, the pricing feels hard to justify. £3 for a croissant here compared to around €1.40 (Mamiche or La Maison d'Isabelle for example, where the aroma of butter oozes out as you dig in!) for an outstanding croissant in Paris does make you question the value. Of course, London is a different market and it’s not always fair to compare directly, but at this price point you naturally expect more. On the positive side, the coffee is genuinely good, which helps elevate the overall experience. Still, while Layla looks the part, the flavour and satisfaction of the pastries don’t quite match the premium positioning.

Busy bakery/café. Seen the hype and a friend lives nearby so had to visit. Beautiful pastries that lived up to the hype. Service was quick and we sat outside. Coffee was ok too. But those pastries are to die for!

The baked goods were just as delicious as everyone says 😂 The coffee was great too. I went on probably one of the hottest days in London so I ordered an iced latte (ps. Most of the seating is outdoors)

TOAD Bakery, located on Peckham Road, is a relatively new establishment that has quickly gained popularity for its exceptional bread and seasonal pastries. The bakery prides itself on using sustainable UK-grown grain to produce fresh loaves daily. Their creative pastries, such as the roast pork, red cabbage and cheddar croissant or the pumpkin chocolate cake with coffee frosting, showcase their inventive approach to baking.
The line was sooooo long and you look at it, and think is it worth it for a bakery?? And let me tell you… it is SO worth it. I truly believe this is the best bakery in London and is worth every single person in line waiting for pastries. We ordered so much and enjoyed every last bite. They had a collab at the time and we had a beef curry pastry which was fab. The pastry just tasted incredible, the different savoury and sweet options were an added bonus.
Irna B — Google review
The line is long but it moves relatively quickly! The pastries are delicious and fresh - get the kalamansi and coconut iced bun, this was cheap but delicious, cornbread croissant was savoury but could’ve done with more jalepeno, plum danish was ok, and the everything bagel croissant was delicious! Tastes just like a bagel, but in croissant form so it’s super buttery and flakey. The least favourite was the Jaffa cake, texture was a bit too dense. Would queue again!
Jerry — Google review
Alternative, different, quality, attention to detail, good care of the customer. This bakery has all the good things one wants when going to fetch for comfort and a treat. Has some small tables outside. The savoury pastries were unique and so tasty! Please do not advertise this place anymore! Keep it for the locals, keep it authentic!

Legitimately my favourite bakery in London because of their friendly, neighbourhood welcome, their interesting experimenting with bakery products and of course everything is excellent. I can highly recommend their sandwiches as well as the cakes on offer!
Lift_Run_Eat_ — Google review
This was a very nice pastry, and to be honest they seemed to have tonnes of great options. It was delicious! My only gripe with this place is that the queue was mental - I was in it for 45 minutes. I have no issue with a place being popular but the queue was barely moving which was slightly frustrating.
Ella R — Google review
Miso caramel and pear danish is very delicious 👌 I also tried quince for the first time and it has a very pleasant smell. The custard on that was a but too eggy but it might be one off batch. Will definitely come back to try more
Mert C — Google review
Super long wait but well worth it- bakery items are so interesting and delicious! Their cinnamon rolls are unbeatable- soft, pillowy, perfect amount of cream cheese frosting! Can’t go wrong. (Everything else was also amazing!)
Shaara A — Google review
- yuzu jaffa cake £4.50 - redcurrant & custard sun bun £4.80 - apple & custard danish £4.80 - everything bagel croissant 5.25 i would confidently rate toad amongst the TOP bakeries in london. naturally, there was a queue but not too long as it was a friday (i imagine it’d be longer on a weekend) and we got to the front within 10 mins and there was still a lovely selection of bakes. their everything bagel croissant is famous for good reason - i loved the savouriness of the cream cheese which was packed with so much flavour and the pastry itself was soo crispy and flakey! the quality of the pastry was equally as good for the danish even the day after but the apple & custard combo is more simple than unique so i wouldn’t go out my way for this one. the sun bun was soft and fluffy; i’ve never tried redcurrants before but it was similar to a cranberry and overall delicious with the custard! lastly, i thought their yuzu jaffa cake was an innovative upgrade on the classic orange jaffa cake which i usually find too sweet and sickly. the pricing here was very reasonable for the quality and size of the bakes too so i’ll be back to try more !

Arôme Bakery - Mercer Street is a charming bakery in Covent Garden that offers a unique blend of French and Asian flavors in their pastries. Co-founded by French pastry chef Alix Andre and Singaporean restaurateur Ellen Chew, this bakery presents an intriguing fusion of Eastern and Western influences.
A wonderful bakery, highly recommended. The pastries are handcrafted with expertise, and everything is simply delicious. It can be a bit hard to find a place to sit, so it’s best to arrive a little early or get takeaway and enjoy it in one of the nearby gardens. The honey butter toast is especially recommended.
Elad A — Google review
My favorite bakery in London by far. Everything I tried was amazing. The doughs are just perfect — whether it’s a brioche that makes the best toast, a croissant that’s laminated and shaped so beautifully (which is really hard to pull off), or a quiche that’s creamy in just the right way, not too eggy and not too heavy on the veggies. Everything felt super balanced and delicious. It’s one of those rare spots where every single thing you pick is a winner.
Omer — Google review
Great bakery and awsome pastries. Apple miso danish was wonderful, crispy dough and balanced taste. Also cappuccino and hojicha latte were very good. Honey toast wasn't to good as I expected, but not bad. It was too dry for me. Some cream with toast will be better. Nice, cozy atmosphere with asia influence. Very nice and helpful services. I am glad for recomendation and talk. Their another savoury and sweet pastries looks also interesting.
Michal D — Google review
No doubt many people are aware of this bakery and its excellent reputation, so perhaps leaving a review is somewhat redundant. However, it’s been a couple of weeks since our very first visit and I’ve not stopped thinking about how much I enjoyed it! The Apple Miso Danish frankly deserves its own national holiday. That pesto mozzarella wonder was all but inhaled. And the fight over the last bite of pistachio and chocolate snail nearly ended in divorce with my husband. You know the drill though. Somewhere this good and this hyped gets queues. And we arrived first thing on a Saturday morning too! Be prepared to wait if you arrive later in the day - or just do as we did, which is grab and go as there’s plenty of seating dotted around where you can people watch while you scoff! Definitely one of those places which will beckon you to return to try out their other delectable looking items. In fact, it’s in my diary for this weekend! Oh and shoutout to the team at the counter who patiently dealt with my decision paralysis.
K L — Google review
We queue for more than 45 minutes to get a seat. The croissant was crispy, fluffy and tasty. The homemade butter and jam enhanced the taste further. The pistachio, chocolate, escargot was good too. However, the coffee was average. Another small unpleasant experience was people who queue for takeaway decided to have a sit, spoiling the if enjoyable experience.
Leong L — Google review
Sweet heaven! The pastries were buttery and flaky, and were perfectly crispy. We had the honey butter toast (10/10), the tomato pesto danish and the spinach quiche. You can tell everything is made fresh. The kind of place that makes you smile with every bite!
Aaina C — Google review
The pastries are delicious and fresh. The coffee is very average and not at the same level as the food. Service is fast. The place is crowded, and we waited outside for about 15 minutes. The indoor atmosphere is fine, and the staff are friendly.
Moza A — Google review
The honey butter toast was a delightful treat—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and perfectly caramelized around the edges. Taste was rich enough even without any other sauce. The egg tart had a smooth, silky custard with just the right level of sweetness. The pastry shell was flaky and buttery, though it could’ve been a touch more crisp. Matcha latte lacked in flavouring but lemonade was very refreshing. It is better to visit the shop no later than 2pm in order to try the honey butter toast.

Fabrique Bakery, a Swedish-inspired bakery with multiple locations across London, including Covent Garden, is known for its artisanal stone oven-baked sourdough bread and delectable cinnamon rolls. The bakery prides itself on traditional baking methods and natural ingredients. While some find the buns a bit dry for their liking, many rave about the unique and unforgettable experience offered by Fabrique Bakery.
Incredible must try cinnamon buns (I ordered a second after demolishing the first)! Great coffee served in with 5 small tables inside. Beautifully rustic feel, feels very European. A must visit.

This chain cafe is located on Shaftesbury Avenue, near Covent Garden, about a 10mins walk from the underground station, making it very easy to find. The cafe is small and mainly sells various buns and breads. The two staff members were friendly. We ordered a Walnut Bun, a Cinnamon Bun, and a Latte. Unfortunately, both the food and coffee were very average. I probably won’t be returning next time.
SY K — Google review
Fabrique is such a charming bakery! We tried the cardamom bun which was deliciously fragrant, though a touch dense and enjoyed it with a coffee. Can’t wait to come back and try their famous cinnamon bun, which we’ve heard amazing things about!
Aditya H — Google review
A must visit when I’m in London. The cinnamon rolls are absolutely amazing. Four stars due to wishing there was a bit more of a coffee selection to enjoy alongside a cinnamon roll and I wish there was available wifi for guests sitting in to dine.
Jen S — Google review
The almond bun was fine but a bit too sweet to me, and the almond was not as pronounced as I would have liked it to be. It was also cold and did not taste super fresh. Note that even the almond bun was based on the classic one so had a lot of cardamom. Overall on top of buns this bakery has bread / baguettes and some sweet options too, as well as croissants
Alexey S — Google review
We had the cardamon bun. İt was divine. We bought a rye bread with seeds. We wanted them to slice the bread, they said no. They wouldn't give us a knife to cut it. We sat down there have a coffee and tried to break the bread, made a mess of it. İ find these UK rules around knives a little funny. We have been serviced by someone who doesn't smile, like at all. She even didn't have the common courtesy of doing it. The place looked clean but felt like you are not welcome there.
Gulum O — Google review
Wanted to try out this rustic looking quaint bakery at Covent Garden. Tried a Hot chocolate which I would rate 3/5. Nothing special. The Cinnamon bun was cold, dense and nowhere near the quality or taste you get in other London Bakeries. The aesthetics is nice but service, I am afraid I cannot recommend.
Rajarshi B — Google review
It was literally the worst cappuccino I had recently. Prices for coffee were nowhere near available to see. I was charged £3.80 for a small cup, which is expensive even for Covent Garden area. Service was "excellent", haven't felt welcome at all, nothing was said by any of two girls behind the till. Definitely do not recommend.

Cereal Milk Cookie is a different and wonderful taste.👌 Everything is fresh and perfect.🤤👏 The staff, the flavors, everything is 10/10👌 I will definitely come back again❤️🥰

Was recommended this place and will definitely be returning. They have a fantastic range of pastries for a little bakery which were all delicious and buttery. My favourite was the doughnut which was sugary and soft and flavourful without being too sweet. I haven’t yet had a chance to try the bread but I will go back to do so. My only comment was for the eaten mess bun the icing didn’t go the whole way through the bun. I believe this is human error tho as I have seen on their Instagram others do and for that I won’t impact the star rating.

Violet Cakes is a quaint bakery in Dalston, run by Claire Ptak, a talented cook/designer/stylist from California. This charming spot offers an array of delicious American-style cupcakes, pastries, and brownies made with high-quality ingredients. Their signature treats are beautifully decorated with real flowers, adding a touch of elegance to their laidback atmosphere. The menu changes seasonally and features flavors like chocolate violet and lemon.
Their Christmas cake is worth five stars on its own. Absolutely delicious I can't get it out of my mind. The flavours are decadent, and when you slice into it the liquor notes really come out. The layer of marzipan is a wonderful touch. I also bought some of their mince pies, which were delicious though a bit pricey for its portions. They are pretty mini compared to your typical mince pies sizes at that price Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The location is more of a takeaway with some outdoor seating. Honestly, don't miss out on their festive menu!

I enjoyed the strawberry cupcake at Violet but what was suggested (the scone with apricot was not good and expensive!). The filling just tasted like butter and the dough was mediocre. The service was weird too… the server got angry because I didn’t leave tip. It’s a bakery!

Gluten free Vanila sheet cake was lush! 8/10 minus two points for a small square being priced at 7 great British pounds! 😭
Sxxkira — Google review
£8 for a piece of sourdough. I usually love Violet for their cakes and cookies, but I was really disappointed with the cheese toastie I ordered today. It was just a single slice of sourdough folded in half with barely any cheese, and it arrived looking messy almost like it had been carried around in a backpack all day. It also cost £8 and took 25 minutes to arrive (only after I went to ask about it). I definitely wouldn’t recommend ordering a toasted sandwich here, it was surprisingly poor given how good their other food usually is. I wish I took a photo it was comically bad.

We used to live very close to this place when it was new. We were supporters and would regularly drop by to a fantastic neighbourhood cake shop and reminisce about life in the Bay Area. We have since moved away and had kids. By chance I was nearby with one of them today and so swung by. It seems to have turned into an Instagram hotspot. I’m sure the scones are very good, but £12 is ridiculous. The server got aggressive when my disabled son started pointing at the cakes. Not welcoming at all. We left and won’t be back.

Kuro Bakery is a delightful addition to the Notting Hill scene, brought to life by the same talented team behind Kuro Coffee and Kuro Eatery. This charming bakery specializes in an array of freshly baked goods that are as visually appealing as they are delicious. Under the expert guidance of head baker Adam Morley, visitors can indulge in seasonal filled croissants, delectable Danish pastries, and their unique Sakuras—wheel-shaped croissants filled with luscious cream that have taken social media by storm.
There are a lot of bakeries in the Notting Hill area, but Kuro Bakery stands out for me because of some of the more unique items on their menu. These include their Sākuro Pastries, which are delicious. My personal favourite is the Pistachio flavour. Their customer service is also very good. I contacted them recently, as I wanted to purchase their Guinness & Chocolate Ganache Cake, but could not order it through Deliveroo. I contacted the bakery and Olive from the team was incredibly helpful and arranged a collection for me. I really appreciated it, as the cake was for a special occasion. The other staff at the bakery are also friendly and helpful when you visit in-person. I do recommend the Guinness & Chocolate Ganache Cake if you are looking for a chocolate cake which is not too sweet. It has a really nice contrast between the slight bitterness of the Guinness and the sweetness of the chocolate. Kuro Bakery is definitely worth a visit whether you are looking for well baked conventional breads and pastries or something a little more unusual.

Stopped by Kuro Bakery in Notting Hill for a pain au chocolat and an iced coffee - both were great. The pastry was fresh with good quality chocolate, and the coffee was well made. Plenty of tempting options on offer, so definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.

I’ve ordered apple strudel, chocolate and hazelnut croissant and blueberry muffin. The croissant is generously filled with chocolate and hazelnut cream but the cream itself is tasteless and taste more like a pudding, apple strudel had so little filling and it was somewhat hard to chew. Seemed like apples were not cooked enough or croissant was old. Or both. It wasn’t melting in your mouth at all. Blueberry muffin was nice bc of the blueberry compote at the top but once it’s gone then it’s bland. I’m not sure if for over £15 it was worth the trip Also the lady on the till was too busy chatting to a friend to acknowledge new customers coming in although I stood in front of her.

Kuro Bakery is an absolute gem in the heart of Notting Hill! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the warm aroma of freshly baked pastries and a minimalist, calming atmosphere. Their croissants are perfectly flaky, and the matcha lattes are some of the best in London. The staff are always friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. It’s the perfect spot for a quiet morning coffee or a weekend treat. A must-visit for anyone who loves artisan bakeries and beautiful design!

Absolutely one of the best finds in London. Everything is so good. However, the best is their Truffle cheese pastry - it gets sold out by 11AM. So get there early & it’s worth it. Their sweet treats are spectacular too.

If you find yourself wandering through central London, make sure to stop by Little Bread Pedlar, a delightful bakery that has been charming locals and visitors alike since its inception in 2011. Founded by the dynamic duo Nichola Gensler and Martin Hardiman—who serendipitously met at a roller disco—this bakery is renowned for its artisan breads and pastries.
Worth a trip across the city to enjoy this bakery. I had the tunga (sp?) bean with a nice topping. There were a few other items I thought about getting but was on a bakery crawl and could only take some Kuch stuff. The turkey cranberry Danish looked amazing too. The Brichoe bun looks nice too. Have to come back for a visit. Great service and customer satisfaction.

Amazing speciality pastries and treats at this branch that you can't get at the other branches. Flaky, buttery, delicious pastries that satisfy your pastry fix. The coffee here is amazing with a decaf option. The artisan organic sourdough bread from wholegrain to white is super tasty. Queues are long in the morning but it's worth it as they sell out fast, and the queue moves fast.

I'm glad I stopped by. I enjoyed my oat flat white which greatly complemented the croissant I got. The croissant was a great bake. It was soft whilst retaining its airiness and flakiness. The notes of salt enhanced the sweetness without it being overbearing. I will definitely be returning to try their other baked goods. The Little Bread Pedlar in Bermondsey is situated under the arches and there wasn't seating available. There was a slender "counter" outside where you could rest your coffee but the space was limited. It's located 10 minutes away from the river Thames, so I got to enjoy both the coffee and croissant at Bermondsey Beach.

After reading all these positive reviews I had really high hopes for this bakery, as it's been on my to-try list for 2-3 years now. So one Sunday morning after I woke up really early because of post-holiday jetlag, I decided to trek all the way to LBP and finally try it out myself. It had literally just opened when I got there at 8:30, so thankfully there wasn't a queue. It was also super rainy which definitely put people off from coming so early. I had a look the pastries and went with the plain croissant, hazelnut chocolatine, maple pecan swirl and the cinnamon bun. I then went home and tried the cinnamon bun, which I must say wasn't particularly impressed with, as it tasted just very average like any other bakeries out there. It's on the fluffy side, and the sugar on top added some crunch to it. A few hours later, I also tried the hazelnut chocolatine and this was when I got very surprised about the quality of the pastries - it was chewy! Just because I left the pastries aside for a few hours after purchase doesn't mean they should have turned chewy! I was genuinely shocked that it was like that particular given how early I got to the bakery which meant they must have been just baked! It's not flaky, the shape seemed off even though the taste and the filling was great. I have never eaten a croissant-type pastry that's chewy and I don't believe it should ever taste like that. So now I am really confused why others think their pastries were even good?! As someone who has tried millions of bakeries in London and around the world, I am truly disappointed with the quality of LBP. Before my visit to the bakery, I really thought this would turn out so positive that I could start recommending my friends to come. But I guess that's not happening.

The best pastry I’ve had in london, everything is super fresh light and delicious. Worth going out your way for! Bear in mind this is a takeaway joint but there’s a cute park round the corner where you can eat the baked goods.

Jolene Redchurch Street is a charming bakery nestled in Shoreditch, offering an array of delectable pastries and baked goods. From morning treats like croissants and pain au chocolat to savory options such as sausage rolls and sandwiches for lunch, this cozy spot has something for everyone. In addition to their tempting cakes and sourdough bread, they also serve top-notch coffee all day long.
Delicious fresh pastries, great drinks, amazing vibes. Went to Jolene for breakfast, tried several pastries and was not disappointed. Particularly liked the rhubarb pastry, very tasty with a perfect balance of acidity and sweetness. Among the savory pastries my favorite was the sausage roll but everything was excellent tbh. Their hot chocolate is the best I’ve had in a long time, reminded me of how my mom used to make it, delicious, very chocolaty and not too sweet. The atmosphere is very nice, was there on a Thursday so it wasn’t busy and was able to sit on the bench outside. To conclude, worth the hype, worth the price, go there during the week, try the rhubarb pastry.

Memorable. It was a tough choice, but I went with the coffee & cacao bun, and I’m so glad I did. Flaky on the outside, with a soft, layered pull inside, like a cross between a croissant and a brioche. Not doughy like babka, with just the right amount of chew and buttery stretch. Light enough to keep you coming back for more. I finished it in minutes. No regrets.
Joei C — Google review
Jolene offers a great selection of pastries with well-made coffee to match (unfortunately only had soy or almond milk as alternatives). Also tried; 🥐Ham and cheese croissant - was flaky and elevated by a nice touch of mustard. 🥐 Pain au chocolat - was enjoyable, though the chocolate could have been more evenly distributed.

Small little pastry and bread shop with benches outside. No indoor seating. Much smaller than the one at Stoke Newington but equally good pastries! Love their pain au chocolat! Crispy fresh layers of buttery goodness! Coffee is also excellent! Rich nutty flavour with no extra charge for alternative milks! A little pricey but you get what you pay for.

Had the ham&cheese and pain suisse au chocolat. The chocolate one for me was really fantastic. It's crispy and flakey and is the type of pastry that's more filling than light? Anyways super recc

Finally made my way a Jolene after wanting to visit for months! The location is beautiful, and the shop itself cute and tiny! I ventured there for the sticky toffee pudding cake which I had heard good things about online, and was lucky they were still in stock at about 12pm on a Friday, as they seemed out of most other things! The staff were friendly and I quite like the concept of being able to pick your own slice/item. Now let me tell you, this is one of the nicest cakes I have ever had. I am an avid sticky toffee lover, and this cake captured the vibe very well! The sponge is incredibly moist with a lovely caramel and date flavour and scent. The frosting - oh my, I have no I idea how they get it so smooth, and again, an amazing toffee flavour! While quite pricey, this is standard for London, and I shall definitely venture back to Jolene to try some of their other offerings! Update June 2024 - I have visited Jolene twice since this fiest occasion. Both times I chose two different cakes that were on the counter on the day (it is impossible to know in advance what may be there!). I got the Boston Cream Pie and Coconut Raspberry Layer Cake. Both these cakes have been absolutely exceptional. The service has also always been warm and welcoming. I will most definitely keep on coming back and recommend to anyone after a good slice of cake!

St. JOHN Bakery Neal's Yard is an offshoot of the influential St. John restaurant, known for its pioneering nose-to-tail dining concept. While famous for its bone marrow and parsley salad, the bakery also offers a signature pudding featuring Mrs Kirkhams Lancashire cheese with an Eccles cake. The cult favorite custard doughnuts are now available daily, along with hot-cross buns, sourdough loaves, seeded loaves, and almond croissants. St.
I should begin by saying that St John is a very important institution, and that this little corner in Niels Yard is a superb addition to it. The service and food were just impeccable, and my whole meal was made all the more enjoyable by one of the loveliest waitresses I’ve ever met. I wish her and the whole team the best of luck, and I’ll be sure to visit again promptly.

The raspberry jam doughnut was good. The doughnut itself was light and fluffy with a good coating of sugar, and with proper seeded raspberry jam inside. The best doughnuts I’ve had? I’m not sure, but worth trying if you are nearby. This bakery also sells bread, croissants and wine. They also offered Hot Cross Bun doughnuts and Hot Cross Buns when we visited just before Easter too.

Average donut. I wanted to love it since we love St John restaurant. I finally decided to give it go on Sunday morning right after they opened so the doughnuts were super fresh, which didn't feel was the case. It was soft, but not super soft, the vanilla custard was nice not overly sweet. I think the price is the usual for London, I would pay ½ the price. I've certainly had better. I don't think I will go back, but for once it was nice. Service, was decent, St John could definitely pay a little more attention to their staff here as there is room for improvement.

If you’re a fan of doughnuts, St. John Bakery is an absolute must-try. These aren’t your average pastries—Michelin star doughnuts that are on a whole different level. 🍩 What we had: • A selection of their signature doughnuts Each one was light, fluffy, and perfectly glazed—the kind of treat that feels indulgent but balanced. They’ve absolutely nailed the texture and sweetness. No fillings dripping down your hand—just clean, satisfying bites full of flavor. 📝 What I liked? Everything. The quality is undeniable, and the doughnuts speak for themselves. Great service, clean layout, and consistent excellence. 👎 What I didn’t like? Honestly—nothing to fault here. ✅ Would I go back? Without hesitation. It lives up to the hype and then some. A must for any pastry lover. 🔍 Note: This is one of the rare cases where a first visit earns a perfect score. Top marks across the board. Bakery items were extremely limited for a self proclaimed "bakery" - they do not have sandwiches - and my cinnamon bun was average. However the staff were friendly and accommodating. It is a very nice place to have a coffee pit-stop with a great aspect of Neal's Yard from the outdoor seating.

Is a small wine shop-bakery where you can find delicious pastries, and even a cup of coffee. The staff is polite and kind, and gave us useful and interesting advice about their products. Thank you very much, and we will definitely be back! Ohhh .. the vanilla cream donuts completely won us over. I recommend you try them :) they are delicious and you can enjoy them outside on the wooden benches, in an quiet and peaceful atmosphere .. we love it Thank you!

St. John Bakery in Neal’s Yard is a true haven for those who appreciate the art of fine baking. Their donuts are nothing short of perfection—a delectable trio of vanilla, chocolate, and raspberry jam that redefines what a donut can be. Each flavor is exquisitely balanced, with a texture that is both light and indulgent, offering an unparalleled tasting experience. What truly sets this bakery apart, however, is the exceptional service. Oscar, with his courteous and attentive approach, is the epitome of an English gentleman. For anyone in search of the best that London has to offer, St. John Bakery in Neal’s Yard is an absolute must. Chatsworth Bakehouse, located in Crystal Palace, is a small batch bakery known for its extraordinary sandwiches and freshly baked focaccia. The bakery's backstory is as remarkable as its baking, with a couple starting a community micro-bakery from their flat during lockdown, which turned into a runaway success and led to the establishment of a bricks-and-mortar location.
Yes, the queue was about 30 minutes but the staff come out and give you tasters as a token of their gratitude for waiting. Additionally the service is incredible, when we get to the front of the queue they thank again for waiting. Their products are to die for, their basque cheesecake, galettes and focaccias are my favourite! Would highly recommend!

Wow! Absolutely amazing! Came here for the first time having been drawn by their Guinness cake and ended up leaving with a few other baked goodies. Wanted to try their pizza/pies being Saturday, but maybe due to heatwave, there was no pizza, but did get a mortedella and mozzerella sarnie in focaccia. That was very tasty. Decent amount of filling, moist focaccia and a good bit of chutney...think may have been apricot and raisins, giving it a good tang. Also bought a Cheddar and Kimchi focaccia, tried a bit of that fresh; pleasantly surprised, it is nice and fluffy. Looking forward to making a nice sarnie from it at home. Although some of the top looks burnt, it isn't actually burnt and actually gives it a nice crust cheesy topping. The Harissa and Feta scone also very worthy of trying. Probably one of the best scones I have had, nice and fresh with a fluffiness to it, unlike hard scones I have had from elsewhere in the past. The harissa and feta really goes well. Can be eaten on its own, no need to add anything to it. Have not tried the coconut pineapple iced finger or cookie yet. The Guinness cake was very moist, not heavy and the cream on top is light tasting, which really complements the cake, which is not too sweet, in fact the right sweetness as I don't like overly sweet stuff. I think they really nailed the taste of the Guinness cake, so will definitely go back for that. Regretted not getting the peach pie, not realising it is limited edition and not a regular item. Queued about 25 minutes to be served, so not too bad. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the two co-owners were there busy baking, but still looked up to give a welcoming greeting. If you love good quality and tasty baked goods, would really recommend you try. One of the best bakeries in SE London.

Amazing freshly baked goods. Been here so many times as I live in the area and always so impressed by how good they are. Everything on the menu is amazing but I’d totally recommend focaccia and Guinness cake. Absolutely beautiful! The only downside is the massive queue especially on a Saturday morning but it’s worth the wait.

Mouthwatering delicious baked goods every single time! The breads, sweet bakes, and pizzas are incredible 11/10! The four cheese pizza with the figjam was my favourite. The independent bakery offers an array of classic and specialty pastries, breads, and seasonal tarts, all made in-house. Owner and pastry chef Shaheen Peerbhai, who trained at Le Cordon Bleu and Alain Ducasse, also conducts baking workshops for those looking to enhance their skills.
As we were eating our croissants outside an older lady walked past and blared out “I can’t just walk past, I have to get one”. And it makes sense once you try one. Delicious heavenly croissants. This is an exceptional bakery offering a range of both sweet and savory croissants.

I wanted to love this bakery but I felt my almond croissant was a little too sweet. It was well filled and the pastry was extra buttery. The cinnamon buns looked amazing here so I would come back to try. Only two outdoor seats for seating. Pastries range from £3.5-£6 so some are definitely on the premium priced side. My almond croissant was £4.50.
Lily G — Google review
This place is a well-known bakery and you can tell the staff are always super busy. Because of that, it doesn’t really have the welcoming vibe you get from some other cafés. Madeline was really good, just melts in my mouth. Pistachio swirl was tasty as well. Not many seats around either — just two tables outside and a few inside, which can feel a bit stuffy in summer. Probably better to grab something to go!
Erin Y — Google review
A truly lovely local bakery with amazing pastries. Out of the oven fresh, all absolutely delicious made with fresh and quality ingredients. Their coffee is also phenomenal.
Thomas A — Google review
Visited today with a friend and got a hot chocolate (made with real chocolate) £5 and a pistachio and chocolate swirl for £6.80. Hot chocolate was creamy and rich in flavour, and the pastry was very flaky and a generous size. There's a few seats outside and a very small seating area inside which can get very noisy and crowded very quickly. Two small tables and a side bar table, could probably seat about 8 people? I was lucky to get a table but others weren't. Very cozy and cute interior, lovely staff and nice selection of pastries. There's also workshops which I'd be curious about!
Yenjii — Google review
The pastries looked "to die for". We ordered a Pistachio pastry and the "special pastry of the day" with walnuts and raisins. They were BOTH so bready and tasteless, heavy and disappointing. Unless I was chewing a raising or a walnut there was zero taste and I could have been eating a bread roll. It's a pity because they both looked so yummy and stunning, but from a taste perspective - tasteless. Service was good, atmosphere was ok, nothing to really write home about, as sitting around the corner in a different room was what it was.

Adorable cafe, I’d come here to study, light music playing in the background and wasn’t too busy when I went on a Friday. They provide free lemon water too, self serve. The cream bun was very milky and creamy, but could be too much for one person cos the shear amount of cream. I shared it with a friend and that was just right, the bread rolls used tasted quite dry.

When I feel nostalgic of home or I want a nice sweet treat, FORNO is my go to bakery. The Veneziana pastry is my top favourite , paired with the perfect jasmine tea. I tried the Tiramisù which it was ok, the savoiardi should be soaked in a bit more coffee imo, coz I could barely taste it, but the layer of mascarpone is super generous. Yum! I like the general vibe of the place, staffs have always been nice too.

Stopped by Forno in Hackney on a Saturday afternoon while walking around Victoria Park. Tried their bakery selection and coffee – both were fine, but nothing that really stood out. The space is nice and it’s a convenient spot if you’re in the area, but overall the experience was just okay.

Amazing food. Maritozzo is just perfect. Not too sweet. Super soft. The pistachio croissant was so tasty. The staff was not concentrated, after ordering she was confused and asked again what we wanted. So service unfortunately wasn’t good. The atmosphere is nice! You can see them bake right there!

Friendly staff. Awesome to watch the bakers at work. Most importantly the coffees and pasties were great. The lemon curd one was my fave and the custard bun my friends gave.

Forno has always been on my to-try list, so I might be holding a high expectation due to its popularity. We got the cream bread and custard one. The bread tasted quite normal although the cream was delicious. The custard one was nice but bread was hard and bland, I’d expect a stronger aroma/ a nicer texture. There is also a lack of variety given that it was only 2pm on a busy Saturday and they only had 3/4 types of pastries left

Fabrique is a Stockholm-based bakery located near Hoxton Overground station in London. The bakery offers a small Scandi-style seating area for visitors to enjoy a Swedish coffee break, known as fika, along with sweet buns. Using traditional stone ovens, Fabrique hand-bakes various bread like rye, walnut boules, and sourdough. Their knotted buns come in flavors such as blueberry and buttery cinnamon with sugar crystals.

Best sourdough! The place was tiny with limited seating but the crew was amazingly efficient. They took turns serving in the counter and tidying the tables regularly. The coffee was also of good quality.
Lee L — Google review
This depends completely what you’re going to have. Croissant was such a waste of money, 3.75£ for no butter flavour or layers, how do you even call it a croissant?? The sourdough bread was excellent on the other hand. Honestly they should just remove the croissant from the selection and they would have gotten 5 stars from here. A smile in the service wouldn’t hurt either.
Cech G — Google review
I have visited Sweden a few times and one of my favourite things besides the lovely people are the delicious cakes and pastries. So I was really pleased to find out there was a branch of Fabrique in my area. Their signature cardamom and cinnamon buns are delicious and definitely recommended. However, my personal favourites have to be the almond and blueberry buns. They are the perfect weekend treat. The staff at this particular branch are also great. They are friendly and happy to answer questions and make general chat if they are not busy serving customers. My only request would be that I would love if Fabrique also served more traditional Swedish cakes like their bakeries in Sweden. I am sure the British public would love the Princess Cake.
Damien K — Google review
Fabrique is a solid stop for quality baked goods, especially if you’re into Swedish-style buns. The cardamom and almond buns are standouts, rich, flavourful, and perfectly balanced. The cinnamon buns (kanelbullar) come knotted and topped with sugar pearls, slightly firmer than your usual soft rolls, but full of depth. Service is friendly and efficient, even when it’s busy. Prices are fair for central London

We got the chocolate chip cookie which was a bit pricey and it tasted nice, but it could’ve been heated up and made to be softer. The interior is warm with nice music but the floors are a bit dirty and there is a limited seating area (one long bench only, no chairs).

Located right by Portobello Market in London, is a cool spot we tried. We had this almond Danish there, and honestly, it was amazing. It was packed with fillings, had a bit of a cardamom taste to it, and was super fresh. You could even smell the fresh sourdough they sell, which was nice. The only downside was that there weren’t many places to sit. It got pretty busy, and we ended up waiting around 5-10 minutes to get a seat. But if you don’t mind a short wait, it’s definitely worth checking out. The pastries are top-notch.

Customers are welcomed with friendly smiles and the enticing scent of freshly baked goods upon entering.
This is touted as one of the best bakeries in London and now I completely understand why. The portions are generous, as are the proportions of butter used in each bake. Everything I bought was delicious and full of flavour, proper hearty baking.

Incredibly unfriendly staff. I have been here a few times, always expecting something better however the produce is on par with Lidl bakery. Im not sure what all the fuss is about? It is the only bakery / take away shop for quite a distance so maybe people dont realise there are better options outside of their postcode 🤷🏽‍♀️ wouldn't recommend purely because it is heavily overpriced for standard items and unfriendly atmosphere.

I got an almond croissant and a piece of babka. They are absolutely amazing. Perfect texture, crispiness, and moisture in the bread. If I ever come near this area again, I’ll definitely revisit and try more stuff. Sadly, it doesn’t allow laptop use, so I couldn’t sit down and work for a bit.

As pointed by some others, the staff is quite unfriendly with no common sense at all. Ordered take away coffee and pastry(no plates or cutlery) and just last minute decided to sit down for 5 mins outside before going. All the tables were empty, no other customer. The staff came out to point out that we said it is take away and were charged accordingly. Absolute non sense , nothing else! They are just profiteering being the only coffee shop on the road. Definitely will skip them for future.

I love that they use sourdough in everything which adds a nice tang. The cinnamon buns are buttery and incredibly soft. The babka is delicious and chocolatey, the peanut butter cookies are bomb! Tried both the egg and salmon sandwiches. I love that they add tons of fresh herbs and even a touch of pickles to the egg. Great texture and flavor! Bunhead Bakery is a popular Palestinian-inspired bakery located near Herne Hill station in south London. Known for its soft, light buns with flavors like zaatar, the bakery often sees long queues forming before it even opens, and their buns tend to sell out within the first few hours of opening. Customers rave about the well-spiced OG Cinnamon and knafeh buns, which are filled with creamy cheese and topped with crispy crumbled kataifi pastry.
Fantastic independent Palestinian bakery in the heart of Herne Hill that’s truly worth the hype, with amazing baked goods. The baklava bun and the shatta & cheddar bun were amazing!! Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is lovely.

There was a lot of hype about this bakery, so while I was in south London I wanted to try it out. The cinnamon bun was nice - but didn't over excite my taste buds. Love coming here before work to meet friends. Ever changing menu can be checked on their insta with day ahead updates in stories. Staff are exceptionally charming and chatty. The special syrups make great coffees I loved cardamom one and now the sage latte is delicious. I reccomend going with appetite and getting a few things to share so don’t have to decide between and won’t be disappointed. My friend and I like to get a sweet and a savoury each and split…and usually a couple extra to take home. Sweet buns can be a bit too sweet for my taste but what I love is the savoury sweet are always a great balance and foccacia is the best (shata and the olive are faves so far). Cookies good too, the nigella and cardamom and anise was amazing as is the mastic, almond and white chocolate. I hope they stay for a long time, I travel especially to go as used to get when they were at Crystal Palace market. This business deserves success as what they do is so unique, talented and special. Only seats are high so tricky with pushchair or wheelchair so recommend take out. Not easy parking but good links to transport as behind bus stop. Park opposite has lots of benches. Thanks for delicious Palestinian flavours.

Delicious buns in fun and unique Palestinian flavour combinations. The baklava bun had super strong rose flavour! The tahini and grape molasses caramel bun was our favourite and had a perfect sweet and salty balance. We also had the salty bun which was very satisfying. There was no wait on a Friday morning at 10:30am.

An incredible independent bakery with lots of vegan options. I've never had to queue but go early on a weekday to skip the queue and not miss out on things because the baked goods sell out quick. I've had a vegan strawberry sumac bun, focaccia, and a vegan sour cherry, mahleb chocolate bun. Really cool flavours.

Quince Bakery, located in Islington, is a small bakery that prides itself on its British-inspired baked goods made with UK produce. The bakery offers a variety of freshly baked items such as breadsticks, cookies, sandwiches, and an irresistible umami-heavy brown butter bun. However, the rice pudding tart stands out as a crowd favorite with its blend of childhood nostalgia and expert baking skills.
This is the best bakery I have ever been lucky enough to find. The rustic deep flavours and quality of ingredients shines through every mouthful. It is different to any other offering and perhaps compared to the average offering elsewhere the visual appeal can throw you initially but be brave. It is well worth the trip.

Cozy place! I was absolutely delighted by the purple potato and chive scone. The edges were perfectly crisp, with a rich aroma of potato and cheese that made each bite deeply satisfying. It’s far more nuanced than your typical sweet scone—earthy, savory, and with a playful touch of chive biscuit vibes. It feels humble yet clever, and completely unexpected in the best way. With only three months left in London, I already know I’ll be coming back every week😭❤️

Such a special place! Hard to find a place where everything is actually amazing, which is the case here. The best bread in London for sure - the miche is my favourite. The rotating quiches are also the most delicious I have ever had, and the scones are special too. Recently tried their chicken mayo sandwich which was generously portioned and full of the most tender chicken. Their oat cookies which they have all the time are also great. Really you can’t go wrong. The staff are lovely, with a special shoutout to Tim who has such a friendly and warm manner!

The best bakery with such a variety! The day I went, the menu had some goods like: corn sungold tomato scone, brown butter bun, courgette chili pie, plum almond tart, aubergine romesco sandwich and a salami muffaletta. All amazing looking and very friendly. Recommend taking out to eat at Arlington Square garden around the corner.

Great neighbourhood bakery and store. Very friendly and knowledgable staff, keen to chat, which makes service a little slow but no one seems to mind. Some delicious pastries, the berry crumble I really liked 😋 The only negative is that there seems to often be dogs in the store and uncovered breads on dog head height shelves 😬
Joe — Google review
This sourdough is phenomenal! In my opinion it's a level above other bakeries in the neighborhood (sourdough Sofia/pavilion). Love the texture and the gentle lactic sourness in the flavour.

Tried it on a couple of occasions but it didn’t hit my pastry spot unfortunately. Tried the aubergines sandwich which was nice but bread was soggy, mushroom pie was average for me as well, brown butter bun was nice and fig biscuits wasn’t for me. Staff always nice and friendly even when it is super busy which is a plus.

Bagel shop
Beigel Bake Brick Lane Bakery is a renowned 24-hour bakery that has been serving traditional Jewish-style filled bagels since it opened in 1977. Located in the East End, it caters to a diverse crowd including clubbers, drinkers, and taxi drivers. The bakery offers classic options like smoked salmon with cream cheese and moist salt beef carved fresh from a warm slab on display. The beigels are boiled before being baked and are available day and night.
Incredible bagels at a very reasonable price. I have walked past here a hundred times but never fancied the wait in the long queue outside around lunch time. Today I decided to give it a try and I was not disappointed. The salt beef bagel with gherkins was very tasty and filling. I got my wife the salmon and cream cheese one and that one was just as good. They are not stingy with the meats or salmon, so it's a decent amount of food for the price. Will definitely come back for more.

Decent bagel at this bakery that is an institution in London. I had a salt beef beigel with extra of pickles. There is a good amount of meat in the beigel per serving . Meat is not dry and it’s flavoursome. Service was fast (I was not stuck in a queue). I would say if you are in the area looking for something to eat /after a night out this is your best bet. Good value for money.

24/7 delicious bagels with unbeatable quality and value! Bagel Bake on Brick Lane is an absolute must-visit for anyone craving fresh, tasty bagels any time of day or night. It’s open 24 hours, which makes it perfect for early mornings, late nights, or whenever hunger strikes. Despite the incredibly cheap prices, the quality is amazing — every bagel is freshly made, generously filled, and packed with flavor. My personal favorites are the classic salmon and cream cheese bagel, and for something heartier, the beef with mustard is fantastic — they really don’t skimp on the meat! I also often take home their challah bread and jam doughnuts, which are super yummy and always fresh. The staff are efficient and friendly, and the bustling Brick Lane location adds to the lively atmosphere. Whether you’re a local, a tourist, or just passing through, Bagel Bake is a delicious, reliable, and satisfying stop for bagels, baked goods, and more. Highly recommended for anyone who loves fresh, affordable, and filling food! Kosher options!
Nóra C — Google review
The filling to beigel ratio is awful for £3, all I can taste is bread! I remember when you could actually see the filling from the sides. Are these purposely being prepared with less filling than before? A sad shame when a Tesco meal deal is actually better value for money. Highly doubt I’ll be back. Response to the owner: Appreciate the apology but, my brother purchased 6 of them (£18) and were pretty much the same. The cheesecake was the only decent or acceptable thing from our order. The cheese and cucumber beigels had a generous 1.5 slices of cheese. If the Tuna beigels were made in front of us it would have been spotted but were sat ready prepared in paper bags. Wanting to rectify it after the fact when we’re not local doesn’t help I’m afraid. Not sure how someone being off is the cause for a standard to drop this bad, does no one else make beigels there? The shop wasn’t busy at the time. The was food lazily prepared, we felt ripped off, hence the review.
Cichlid S — Google review
Honestly, the best bagel in London! Had the plain bagel with salmon and cream cheese – super fresh and tastes just like a real New York bagel. Even the plain bagel on its own is amazing. It’s not a tourist spot – lots of locals come here. Definitely worth the trip instead of going for the usual mainstream bagels around London.🥯
Sebastian S — Google review
We went back twice for the salt beef bagel and sandwich after trying it the first time—it was absolutely incredible! The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the bagel was perfectly fresh. We stood in line but didn’t have to wait long, even when it's busy, the service is impressively efficient. The salmon cream cheese option was tasty too, but if you're visiting, don’t miss the salt beef bagel or sandwich—it's a must try!

Had been told about this place by a few people and it's back story about NEVER being closed (apart from some pandemic time), so I had to try the salt beef... WOW. absolutely incredible flavours and a bargain price when you consider it's location. Would 100% recommend and next time I'm in the area I'll be telling whoever I'm with the same story!! Go, have the salt beef and enjoy!

My fav. So nice having it open 24/7 too. Much better alternative to all kebabs and fried chicken shops. Recommend! 🇬🇧 Also you’ll most likely see a queue, don’t let it scare you away, it’ll be gone in minutes.

Aux Pains de Papy is a charming French bakery located in Kings Cross, London. With a rich family history of baking dating back to Provence in 1948, this boutique-style bakery brings traditional French baking to the area. The bakery offers an array of delectable loaves, pastries, cakes, and sandwiches made with ingredients from Southern France. Visitors can enjoy warm viennoiseries for breakfast or indulge in tarts and cakes for elevenses.
Croissants are one if my favorite things and so are boulangeries. I go to Paris quite often and I love trying different boulangeries. The croissant from this place is a croissant you could get in Paris and it's the best I've tried in London. Super crispy, flaky, a hint of butter, fluffy inside. I will come back for more!! We also tried the almond croissant and the chocolate eclair. These two were good, but for me the plain croissant was outstanding.
Nuria Y — Google review
Stumbled upon this hidden gem near King's Cross station by chance and after trying couldn’t believe it wasn’t much busier than it is. The chocolate almond croissant was perfect - flaky, rich, and generously loaded with sliced almonds and had a gorgeously melted bar of good chocolate inside. The plain croissant? Deep golden layers, buttery aroma, crisp on the outside and soft within. Coffee was spot-on. Strong, smooth, and made with care. Friendly service, no fuss, no rush. Just great pastries, great coffee, and a quiet spot to enjoy them. One of the best bakeries I've tried in London. Will return.

Found this place because of the good reviews. It’s sooo outstanding that we came here every morning to eat breakfast during our stay. The soft buttery/flakiness of the croissant is insane. We really enjoyed the peach pastry, croque bread and the grilled veggies bread. It’s packed and delicious. The chamomile tea is also super nice. The staff are very friendly and speedy. If i’m in london again i would definitely come back for this gem!!

I came across this cozy little café back in February. It looked so inviting and warm that I stepped inside, and the staff were incredibly kind, even recommending their favourites and a little backstory of the cafe. I’m not usually a coffee drinker, so I went for a hot chocolate, and it was absolutely stunning. Looking forward to my next visit when I’m back in London!

Very disappointed, yet another place for a stale croissant. Really can't find any good croissant here in London. It was so dry, the outside was like stale bread crust, it was even kinda hard to bite...

How rare it is to find pastries so delicious. And how rarer to find food of such quality presented with such exuberance. Ryan and Sham, with their picture perfect hairlines and haircuts, were on the scene when I attended. Bageriet is a cozy Nordic bakery and cafe located in London's Covent Garden, offering a delightful selection of traditional Swedish cakes and pastries for dine-in or take away. Renowned for its aesthetically pleasing baked goods, excellent coffee, and the best cinnamon rolls in London, Bageriet provides an authentic Scandinavian experience.
We visited this cute and cosy bakery for breakfast. They have different kinds of Swedish pastries, cookies and cakes. Everything looks so delicious that it is quite hard to make a decision. Great and varied tea selection. The staff is very polite and helpful and overall good ambients with perfect lighting and music.

Hyper-cosy mycket-mysig cutesy Swedish konditeri in oh so historical Rose Street, enveloped by kitsch, hipsterian Covent Garden. Tiny place - only 3 people can sit spread horizontally. So better for buns and coffee to go. They cater best for passing trade. Cakes and coffees delicious - buns decidely moreish and very authentically Swedish. My visit co-incided with two afficianadi of Swedish baking; if they were impressed (and they were) it must have been good. It was. In Sweden fika is like a religion. I think the Bishop of Stängnäs will be blessing the dough daily from now on! [By the way I've met his eminence in person].
El G — Google review
Probably the best cinnamon buns I had: not just a numbing, blunt sugar bomb, but a well-balanced, complex mix of tastes. (Still a sugar bomb though don't worry!) They also have many special Swedish pastries you've never heard about, and all of them are great!
Evžen W — Google review
They are comparable to any bakery in Stockholm👌 they even make the princess cake. It is pretty small, but the atmosphere is cosy. The pastries were delicious, but the pistachio one was a little too sweet for me. The coffee can be improved.

Wow, what a fantastic place. Not just the best Scandinavian bakery I've been to, but maybe one of the best bakeries in general. Such an amazing choice of delicious treats, as well as kind and friendly service. The shop was cute and quaint, it felt so festive and warm on a cold November day. This will definitely be a regular stop of mine whenever I'm in the area, I'll have to treat myself to a slice of the princess cake on a special day, and I can't wait for semla season which is one of my favourite sweet treats of all time! :)
Jessica D — Google review
Service was warm and friendly, recommending which pastries to try. Notgrotta (Extra buttery shortbread with hazelnut chocolate) indeed had a buttery crumbly melt in your mouth tart base with molten chocolate within. Josefin (Almond tart with orange) had a nice balance of almond (not artificial taste) and refreshing orange. The cinnamon bun, which I thought would be the highlight, was quite disappointing. Not as fluffy as I thought it would be. And a bit too much cinnamon.
Kelvin G — Google review
Tucked away on a quiet pedestrian side street in Soho, Begeriet is a tiny Swedish bakery with just a couple of small metal tables outside and a compact indoor seating area. The display is minimal, but it showcases a tidy selection of classic Scandi-style pastries and coffee. I tried the Vienna pastry which is similar to a strawberry coronet with custard and strawberry jelly, topped with fresh strawberries. Even after about four hours in a takeaway bag, the pastry was impressively crisp. The custard filled most of the centre—though not quite to the bottom—and the pastry was finished with a simple dusting of white icing sugar on the sides. Overall, it was well-balanced, fairly light, and a reasonably good example of Scandinavian baking. The main downsides are the price—£5 for a single pastry is steep—and the lack of space to sit comfortably, especially indoors. Still, it’s a charming little spot for a quick, high-quality treat if you’re in the area.

Chestnut Bakery, located in Covent Garden, is a popular spot with long queues for good reason. The bakery offers an array of beautifully crafted and flavorful baked goods, including stuffed croissants, chewy caramel cookies, and vanilla buns - all freshly made each morning. Visitors rave about the pistachio and raspberry croissant as well as the cinnamon sticky bun with its refreshing lemony icing. The bakery's almond croissant has been hailed as the best in London by many patrons.
I had an incredible experience at Chestnut Bakery on Floral Street London! The pastrami sandwich was absolutely delicious — perfectly balanced flavours and so satisfying — and the pistachio cake was out of this world, all topped with a delicious mocha. A special shoutout to Obay, who was super friendly and helpful in recommending what to try. Everything from the food to the service was excellent. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing food and a great atmosphere! Will definitely come back soon with friends! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wonderful assortment of pastries but the ones we ordered were just alright, nothing mindblowing. A little too sweet for our liking. Soft serve with honey toast was an interesting offer that we don’t see many in other cafes/bakeries so it was lovely. Wanted the vanilla flavour soft serve but it was sold out so I had the chocolate one which was decent. The honey toast that came with it was a little too sweet and dry though. It’s a lovely place with great vibes for a coffee with a friend, to rest your legs after some shopping in central London but not specifically be there for the baked goods. Menu offers breakfast/brunch type of food I have yet to try but I’ll probably skip that. Staff were extremely helpful and kind though. Made us feel really welcomed despite being so busy.
Everlydaydream — Google review
Chestnut Bakery in Covent Garden has quickly become one of my favorite spots in London for pastries and coffee. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a modern yet cozy design that makes it perfect for a relaxed break during a busy day in the city. The staff are friendly, which adds to the overall experience and makes you feel at home even in the middle of a busy area like Covent Garden. The highlight for me is definitely their tiramisu Danish. It’s unlike anything I’ve tried before. It feels indulgent without being overly sweet, and it’s the kind of pastry you’ll think about long after you’ve left. I honestly would come back just for that one item. They also offer a wide selection of baked goods, The coffee is consistently good too, which makes it a perfect pairing with any pastry. I also appreciate that everything feels fresh, and the presentation of the pastries makes it hard to choose just one. The place is great whether you want to sit inside and enjoy the calm atmosphere or grab something to take away while exploring Covent Garden. What’s exciting is that Chestnut Bakery also has another branch in Riyadh, so it’s great to see them bringing their unique style and quality to different parts of the world. If you’re in Covent Garden and looking for a bakery that goes beyond the usual, I highly recommend Chestnut Bakery.

We sat upstairs right by the window with the scenic view of the street. The pastries were each made to be a perfect image of itself. The labneh cherry tomato toasty was the best savory breakfast sandwich you can ask for to be balanced with the sweetness of the blueberry tart - which is easy to miss, but not in Chestnut - every bite you get fresh blueberries and never a jammy sticking to your teeth goo, but a wonderful creamy filling encased by the more exquisite laminated dough. Not one miss!

Came in just before 6. There wasn’t any seating downstairs expect a small table near the entrance which we had to sit there was four of us. Even though the cafe was open we was told upstairs seating was closed. Wanted the Karak tea which wasn’t available, either was the brookie. Ordered two scoops of ice cream which I asked for choc. Then I see one of the guys giving vanilla asked the lady that was serving me that I asked for choc which she said there wasn’t any available even though she took my order. She wasn’t paying attention as she kept repeating my order. As we sat with our hot choc and the basic vanilla ice cream. We can see the bins getting taken out, everything getting cleared up. There was still people coming in. Considering we were in convent garden and you pay more than average I don’t expect to see huge bins going past me multiple times, aswell everything getting cleared up. The cafe is open and should accommodate accordingly during the opening hours. Won’t be coming in a hurry anytime soon.
Runa S — Google review
I thought that this bakery might be overrated, because I always hear a lot of good reviews from here, but the food seemed expensive. I can honestly say now that I've visited here it is worth it. The shop was quite busy but the queue moved fast, and it's very pretty inside. We tried the twice baked pistachio raspberry croissant and the tiramisu Danish pastry. The croissant has crispy buttery pastry, and the pistachio filling was rich and delicious, with the raspberries adding a delicious new flavour. It was about £6 but was really hard for 2 people to finish because it was big. The tiramisu Danish was also really good, the filling was light and not too sweet, with a good coffee flavour from the sponge at the bottom. It was also the perfect size, as it could be shared between 2 people, or even eaten by one person if they were hungry. Even though it isn't cheap here, and it can get super busy, I would say it's worth it.

A High-End Illusion Home House is undoubtedly a stunning building with a rich and fascinating history. From the outside, and even upon first entry, it markets itself as an exclusive, high-end members club, a place to see and be seen. Unfortunately, the reality falls far short of the image they portray. The interiors, while initially charming, are clearly neglected. If you take a closer look, much of the furniture is extremely worn, to the point where the sofas in the Drawing Room are completely unusable. It’s a far cry from the luxury they advertise. More concerning, however, is the persistent issue of rats. I, along with several other members, have witnessed rats both indoors, including in the Drawing Room, and outside in the garden, at all times of day. When raised with management, the response is always the same: "It’s an old building." While true, many buildings in London are centuries old, and they manage to maintain proper pest control. This excuse has worn thin. You’ll often overhear staff speaking candidly about the issues that management attempts to sweep under the rug. One of the most shocking revelations was the state of the kitchen. I had heard rumours of a poor hygiene rating earlier this year, which was then quietly amended. I didn’t want to believe it – until I accidentally walked into the kitchen/staff area while heading to the "spa" (which is just the sauna FYI). What I saw confirmed everything. The hygiene standards were appalling and completely unacceptable for a club of this supposed calibre. I cancelled my membership immediately and will not be returning. It’s a real shame, the potential is there, but Home House appears more concerned with maintaining appearances than actually delivering on the promises of luxury, comfort, or safety.

The venue is excellent and has a nice atmosphere. Went there as a guest of a member a while back. But I saw a bar manager being very abusive and rude to one of the other staff members in view of other patrons. I’ve worked in hospitality for many years so I understand the stress involved sometimes but it wasn’t a particularly busy evening. Uncalled for and soured the experience. Will not be going back.

The Berkeley is a luxurious hotel known for its top-notch restaurants, elegant spa, and renowned afternoon tea. It is considered one of the most prestigious five-star stays in London, blending classic hospitality with modern touches. The hotel's sleek design by architect Richard Rogers leads guests to the Blue Bar or cozy Berkeley Bar with hand-painted murals. The bright cafe offers a popular afternoon tea experience.
During my recent stay, Daniela at the front desk provided a level of service that far exceeded my expectations and truly elevated my experience. I encountered an unexpected wardrobe malfunction as I was preparing to leave for a formal gala we had traveled from the U.S. to attend— the zipper of my gown broke completely. In a moment of panic, I called the front desk to inquire if a seamstress might be available. Unfortunately, it was after hours, and the seamstress had already left for the day. However, Daniela, who answered my call, went out of her way to assist me personally. Although she modestly mentioned having only minimal sewing experience, she immediately came to our room with sewing tools in hand. She took the dress downstairs, managed to repair the broken zipper herself, and returned with the gown—literally sewing me into it to ensure I could attend the event. Her calm, professional, and compassionate demeanor turned what could have been a ruined evening into a memorable and positive experience. As someone who works in the hospitality industry and has traveled extensively, I was genuinely moved by Daniela’s dedication. She not only solved an urgent issue with grace and creativity, but also followed up the next day to check in and ensure everything went smoothly at the gala—despite it being an off-property event. Daniela demonstrated a rare level of attentiveness, kindness, and above-and-beyond service that truly sets a standard. She is a tremendous asset to your team and an embodiment of hospitality at its finest.

My friend was visiting from New York and I wanted to do something a little special for her. The Berkeley Café did not disappoint. The service was excellent from the moment I arrived, the doorman was prompt and courteous from the second I got out of my taxi, the lady on the front desk was welcoming and friendly and helped me find the Café. Once seated, the entire tea was a superb experience and I’d like to give a special shout-out to all the hosts who served us on the day. The food and beverages were interesting and imaginative — and above all, delicious. The atmosphere was indulgent and opulent but never made the mistake of taking itself too seriously. TLDR, for the benefit of my American readers (and translated from the original much too-wordy English original): swanky but not stuffy — you can do the full Cleveland, if you want and if you must — although be prepared to take a beating in the old wallet.

Buns From Home is a delightful bakery that originated from a private kitchen during the first lockdown and has since blossomed into a popular spot just off Portobello. The Notting Hill locals flock to this charming establishment, eager to indulge in their signature cinnamon and cardamom buns.
Went to one of these stores to try the buns! There were lots of different flavours to choose from, both savoury and sweet! We tried the raspberry cheesecake bun and it was delicious! Very big and a lot of filling. A bit pricey but not too bad. I’d like to try chocolate or pistachio next! Recommend 5/5

Had the Dubai chocolate as the Tiramisu had been off the menu the entire season. If you like a lot of cream and bold flavours in a bed of crispy flaky awesomeness, then this for you. I loved it, though this was the larger model and even for a cream fiend this was too much in one seating. More for later. For London, the area,, and the generosity of the filling, this is actually reasonably priced.

These are the tastiest buns I have tried. The outside is like a sweet crispy but soft croissant like, and the filling can vary but the chocolate custard bun & dubai chocolate bun are the best. They are very big and filling and I can’t finish in one go, however, they are so worth every penny. Highly recommend this place - 10/10!

We stopped by Buns From Home while visiting London and it absolutely blew our minds! We tried the vanilla roll and the cheesecake roll — both were insanely delicious. The texture, the flavor, everything was just perfect. One of the best pastry spots we’ve ever been to. Highly recommended!

It was a great first experience at Buns from home -our server Mateo was funny, friendly and very informed about the different products. He explained which flavours might suit our palette which made choosing easy. The buns (cheesecake; chocolate custard; chocolate hazelnut) were devoured with joy.
Kwame O — Google review
A local friend recommended their bakes, and I tried their cinnamon bun. It’s decent overall, and I appreciate that it doesn’t come with glazed. While the bun is good, I’m giving it a lower overall rating because the staff isn’t hospitable. This definitely isn’t the best bun I’ve tried.
Y T — Google review
Super tasty Dubai chocolate bun! Lots of cream cheese filling which worked perfectly with the sweetness of the pistachio sauce. Eat bite was well balance between filling and pastry. A good size too.
Lana W — Google review
Everything looked so good here, was hard to choose what to get. At the end chose a cheesecake bun, which was dissent but feel like other more traditional buns with less cream would pack a punch much more.

Jolene Bakery & Restaurant is a trendy establishment located in Stoke Newington, offering a spacious and stylish setting to enjoy delectable comfort food. This eatery, named after the famous Dolly Parton song, is the third venture by chef David Gingell and restaurateur Jeremie Cometto-Lingenheim. The menu at Jolene features an array of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner along with a selection of natural wines.
I don’t live anywhere near, but Jolene is worth the trip. The seasonal small plates are inventive and beautifully prepared, with fresh flavours and a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. Staff are warm and knowledgeable, making it feel like a neighbourhood gem you’re lucky to stumble upon.
Sara S — Google review
Gorgeous and cozy place. Lovely staff. Very attentive. Starters were amazing. We had the truffle scallop and peach/tomato salad. The salad was incredible. The mains were also very good but a bit forgettable. We had the pork saffron tagliatelle and the Dover sole. Dessert was incredible and well thought out. Both the berries diplomat and blood peach soft serve. Drinks menu was nice and had a gorgeous selection. The strawberry rhubarb mocktail was so good. Will definitely come again but probably only for a lot of small plates! Think the food would’ve been a five if we opted for all starters, considering skipping the mains!
Anjali A — Google review
very overpriced for odd combinations of food. we ordered all the recommendations from the staff and was very disappointed with everything. Left hungry and horrible taste palettes. The mushroom dish was essentially two spoonful of mushroom w four slices of spec for £16. The cured grey mullet that was highly recommended by the staff was a really weird combination, extremely fishy taste and the macha does not fair well with it at all. The only dish that didn’t disappoint is really the bread and butter. Overall not worth the visit. You can probably get a Michelin meal with the same amount of money for the horrible food here

loved loved loved Jolene! such great and tasty food from the restaurant and you can’t miss the goodies from the bakery either. we loved it so much, we visited twice in one week! a highlight of our London trip

Great staff - service was top tier. Casual but friendly and attentive. Loved the starters. Literally wanted to lick the sauce of the plate of the lobster dish (and they brought over extra bread for us to do so). Def will be back but will likely opt for more starters and skip the main as it was just a little too heavy for us after enjoying the first dishes.

Falafel restaurant
Baban's Naan, located on Blackstock Road, is a local institution known for its specialty in naan bread at affordable prices. Unlike the typical puffed-up tandoori naans found in curry houses, Baban's offers flatbreads with various flavors such as cheese, sesame, zaatar, garlic, and falafel. Occasionally they also offer a twist on Turkish lahmacun with minced lamb and diced peppers.
Wish I lived closer to this gem, falafel is best I’ve had I think - I’ve had a lot! Bread is fresh and cheap. Do t hesitate! Go!

What a treat!!! Was hungry before the Arsenal game so decided to try this place out and it was top. Super fast and super fresh naan bread. The sauce and falafel were flavored to perfection.
Naman M — Google review
Might be the best falafel wrap I've ever had (I am pregnant and was very hungry-so maybe take it with a pinch of salt) but the fresh naan bread was sensational, the falafel was freshy fried. It wasn't overstuffed. I would come back to try all the naan bread flavours. A great price too! Nowhere to sit but Finsbury park is close enough.
Lily G — Google review
Falafel and naan are made fresh in front of you!! So tasty and the naan is so soft, best part is that none of the filling falls out the bottom like with most wraps🤩🤩 delish

Best value for money food in London. 50p for a naan the size of my head. Brilliant. Made fresh, so tastes amazing and still warm. They'll have your order ready within minutes. Would recommend.

Common Breads is a modern Lebanese bakery in London founded by three childhood friends. They offer traditional street food classics from Beirut, including 'ka'ak', a purse-shaped bread topped with sesame or nigella seeds and served as a sandwich. Another highlight is the 'manouche', an ultra-thin flatbread topped with za'atar and akkawi cheese or other tasty combos. Visitors praise the helpful and friendly staff, delicious food, and inviting atmosphere.
Every visit is perfect! the food is always fresh, flavorful, and truly the best Lebanese in the city. Their oat chai is unmatched, and the owner ( Kamal) is so warm and welcoming. Clean, professional, 10/10.I’d love to see them open more locations.

The cheese manakish, musakhan, and spinach pies were absolutely incredible. The owner manages the restaurant himself, and the location is just perfect. I truly congratulate him and wish him even more success and new branches in the future. You can actually ask them to make the pastries in a small size for takeaway — they were absolutely delicious, arrived hot and fresh, and perfectly clean. Truly amazing!

We recently hosted a work event and chose Common Breads for the catering. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. They tailored our order perfectly, offering a wide variety of options to suit everyone’s preferences. The food was outstanding — fresh, delicious, and of the highest quality — and the service was just as impressive. Our team and guests were genuinely impressed, and it made the event feel extra special. I would wholeheartedly recommend Common Breads to anyone looking for catering that combines quality, variety, and excellent service.

Great interior, super clean, fabulous hot drinks (very great matcha and Lebanese coffee). Can tell the owners love detail and high spec. We had the courgette and halloumi manouche and makanek sausage kaak. Both super tasty, I recommend trying the full menu.

We loved everything we tried at Common Breads. All the food was fresh and delicious, but the brownie with tahini was absolute perfection, it’s a must-try! The shop itself is clean, cute, and full of thoughtful details that make it such a pleasant place to visit. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better :) I also loved that you can buy some goodies to take home, like sumac and za’atar, I can’t wait to try them! Highly recommend this place.

I saw this place on insta, and wanted to try during my visit to London. Indeed will be back. Food was so delicious and tasty. I ordered the chicken kaak, and the flavours blend in your mouth. The idea of having chicken in kaak, is really unique. Also tried the labne and makdous. Initially I was a bit reluctant to try as it’s one of my favourite breakfasts back home, and didn’t want to be disappointed, but I am glad I tried it and it was so yummy. Highly recommended. What’s best then ending this visit with a sweet taste of Kunafa. Simply yummy 😋😋. Place is highly recommended

Bakery
Happy Sky Bakery, located in Hammersmith, London, is renowned for its exceptional Japanese breads and pastries. Head baker Motoko McNulty combines high-quality ingredients with traditional craftsmanship to create delectable baked goods. The bakery offers a diverse range of treats, such as shokupan loaves, strawberry crunch doughnuts, and chicken karaage egg muffins. Each delightful creation can be found elegantly displayed in their irresistible glass showcase.
A Japanese bakery with two branches, one located close to Westfield, perfect for grabbing some treats while you’re out shopping! Dropped by late on a Saturday just before they closed, so the selection was a bit limited. The popular matcha mochi ribbon was already sold out, but thankfully there were still some matcha choices available! Their bread is made with Japanese flour and ingredients, and you can really taste the difference: indeed much softer, high quality, and full of that authentic Japanese flavor. Even the paper bag packaging is thoughtfully designed, with a cute aesthetic. Recommendation: Croissant, Tokyo honey toast, Matcha cinnamon roll
Moon R — Google review
Everything looked so good it was hard to choose but I went for one sweet one savoury. The Katsu bun was good but the honey toast was amazing. I definitely recommend
Marie S — Google review
Soooo good their bread, the texture is amazing. I sampled like over 10 types of their goodies. I like the fried chicken with eggs sandwich the most because there is a distinct depth of flavor, from fried chicken’s mild sweetness to some ginger and herb, balanced by the creamy eggs wrapped by the soft fluffy bread. The fried dough with curry filling is so Japanese and delicious. So glad I don’t have to line up. Love this shop! Ganbatei!!!!🧚‍♀️
Snailo M — Google review
Really wanted to like this but I was so disappointed. The flavours were decent, The fruit was lovely but the actual pastry was poorly made, dry, too crispy.
Jasmine B — Google review
Great bakery, truly Japanese style, good savoury and sweet options, the yuzu pastry is perfectly crunchy and layered, the custard has a beautifully delicate taste. With coming here just to try it.

This place offers an impressive variety of sweet and sour bakery treats, all crafted with Japanese quality. I highly recommend trying the matcha croissant paired with white chocolate—it's simply delicious! 😋🍞🥐☕️
Ozden A — Google review
This bakery was on my list to try for the longest time as I can remember and one day I finally decided to make the trek from Northwest down and it's safe to say it's well worth the time and effort! Immediately when I opened the door the strong smell of sugar and butter hit right into my face which really set up my expectations high for what I was about to experience. There were so many options to choose from and everything looked absolutely amazing so it took me some time to decide what to get. In the end, I went with 5 pastries and I will write out my verdicts below: 1. Pain au chocolat - super flaky and buttery, lamination well-done if you look at my photo below 2. Matcha mochi ribbon - super flaky, with a nice matcha taste but personally would have appreciated more. Loved the chewy mochi texture inside which made it so much more fun to eat 3. Azuki pan - I wasn't a big fan of this one because the red bean paste felt off to me. Texture was a little more rough than what I am used to but it's good that it wasn't too sweet 4. Chicken katsu curry bun - a really nice savoury option if you aren't interested in sweet pastries. Katsu batter was not too thick and nicely done and the bun had two big bits of chicken meat on top of a curry paste 5. Petal croissant - a really interesting pastry as I had never seen such a creation before. As you can see from my photos, the lamination was very well done. Airy, flaky and buttery. I really enjoyed this one with some jam on the side Service was great too. The Japanese staff were all so friendly and smiley and polite. Overall, I can see why this bakery has once been ranked top 5 best bakeries in London by Time Out and I would love to go back soon to try everything else!

This is a popular Japanese bakery that sells a variety of Japanese buns and coffee, but there’s no seating available. The shop is located on Askew Road near Ravenscourt Park, about a 20 mins walk from the underground station. It’s a bit out of the way, but easy to find. The staff are polite and friendly. I chose the Chicken Katsu curry pan, and after heating it at home, it was very crispy. However, the curry was a bit on the salty side. I’ll definitely try other options next time!

Lovely! It does get very crowded with the flower market. We had the scone (was even warm) and the brownie (salty). Both were delicious. The service was a bit slow though, but friendly.
Soraia A — Google review
I love cake and stopped by Lili Vanilli based on the strong reviews. There were a few options available (most with a cherry theme), I went with the chocolate cherry cake. The cake itself had a nice chocolate flavour, and the buttercream was smooth and generously applied. It tasted like a North American-style cake - the sponge had a tender and moist crumb, fluffier. That said, I was hoping for more cherry presence. Aside from two cherry halves in the filling, there wasn’t much cherry flavour overall and ended up tasting mostly like a chocolate cake. It was served at room temperature, but I think this style of cake might benefit from being slightly chilled. At room temp, the fats in the cake and icing were more noticeable in taste and texture. Located off of Columbia Rd, in a mini alley / courtyard. There is outdoor seating. Lovely on a quiet Saturday afternoon.

Nestled in the heart of London, St. JOHN Bakery is a delightful offshoot of the renowned St. JOHN restaurant group, celebrated for its dedication to British cuisine and high-quality ingredients. Every Saturday, this standalone bakery offers an array of freshly baked bread and cakes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. While you can find loaves and sandwiches at various locations like Neals Yard and Borough High Street, it's the iconic doughnuts that truly steal the show here.
St. John Bakery on Druid Street is a gem for anyone who appreciates fresh, quality pastries. I tried the almond croissant, and while it was a bit pricey at £4.50, it was absolutely delicious and worth every penny. The croissant was perfectly fresh, with a flaky, buttery exterior and a rich almond filling that made each bite a real treat. The bakery has a great selection of pastries, all of which look incredibly tempting, and it’s clear they use high-quality ingredients. If you’re in the area and looking for a satisfying pastry, I highly recommend stopping by St. John Bakery—you won’t be disappointed!
Eugénie S — Google review
Hot cross buns wasn't worth the fuss. Dry and not enough fruit. Real shame because it looked fantastic. Bread also not the freshest. Will be sticking with toad bakery in future.
Natasha W — Google review
We used to treat ourselves to a big doughnut from here, on the occasional afternoon. We used to justify the high prices because the doughnuts were reasonably nice, and big enough to share. However, the doughnuts are now tiny, and still cost nearly 4 quid. Also, possibly because their decreased size has increased their surface area to weight ratio, the doughnuts are now also much drier. They have now become less good than doughnuts purchased from a supermarket for one pound and twenty pence for a bag of five. They utterly fail in their role as a treat, and instead seem like an insult. Justifying the profligacy of a doughnut that cost so much used to be just about doable, but now it feels unsustainable. I have considered the possibility of shrinkflation, but given the relatively low cost of ingredients rather than labour in the manufacture of doughnuts, and the fact that doughnut manufacture is no easier when they are smaller, in fact, in my experience it is actually harder, I cannot find a clear justification for this shrinkflationary deterioration. There are many nearby bakeries which are nicer. tl;dr Doughnuts used to be OK and big but now are bad and small. RIP.

Little gem in the beer mile. The options are limited but the deliciousness is infinite. Cannot recommend the cinnamon knot enough. They don’t serve coffee but there is a coffee shop just around the corner.
Rita R — Google review
Bought a sourdough and a doughnut from here, and both were pretty mid. Sourdough wasn’t great, dry and not much of a crust. Donut was dry as well. I bought these quite early in the day as well at 11 am, and for the price, was expecting something significantly better.
Joshua Y — Google review
Good as a one-off treat but not as a daily purchase. I can’t posssibly justify paying a fiver or a croissant (£4.50) and 6 quid for a loaf of bread. Insane prices, it is a bakery and it’s bread not gold. I really dislike and find the idea of a prohibitive bakery to be a really unethical concept. When fresh bread becomes a luxury good, that’s when you know something is seriously wrong. I find this concept a little disturbing because bread is historically what everyone was be able to access and afford, but if a middle class professional finds it expensive, what is a working class mother of 6 to do? Only option is to eat cheap processed fake sliced bread from a plastic bag. Really bad.
Sphinx333 — Google review
I am afraid I have a very mixed view of the St John bakery on Druid street. I tried it for the first time and I purchased an almond croissant and a soda bread loaf. No complaints about the soda bread which was good quality and very tasty but the croissant was dry and was not so good. When you are paying St John prices you should expect fresh produce and on this occasion I was left very disappointed.
Farid K — Google review
Thought I'd get a sourdough loaf and a couple of doughnuts from this place on a whim, while in the area. Never thought I'd pay £4 for a jam doughnut, but thought they'd be the best doughnut in London for that price, but they looked sad and dry, do didn't bother. Got a small sourdough loaf for £3 instead. It was a bit strange that the staff didn't ask me if I wanted the last loaf that had probably been on display all day given it had the price tag impaled in it. Got home and it was stale. Once we revived it with some water and an oven we realised it simply wasn't flavourful and you could barely taste the sourness. Shame. Not recommended.

Nestled just off the bustling Strand, Toklas Cafe and Bakery is a delightful destination for food lovers. This charming spot boasts a Mediterranean-inspired menu that tantalizes the taste buds, complemented by an impressive bakery offering an array of classic treats. From freshly baked breads to flaky pastries and filled sandwiches, there's something for everyone. The bakery is particularly famous for its croissants and Roman-style pizza slices, perfect for a quick bite or leisurely sit-down meal.
I left the bakery knowing that I will be obsessed with this place. A cute, artsy industrial design with great coffee and phenomenal bakery items. The waitress recommended the financiers soaked in rum, which was rich and dreamy. The rhubarb and lemon tart was also hearty and recommended - they candied the rhubarb so well, balancing the textures, the sweetness, and the tartness perfectly. The winner for me though is their bitter honey and chocolate biscuit. The texture is more akin to shortbread but as soon as the depth of the honey flavour kicks in, I am transported to another state of being. If I can describe how I feel, the image would be ‘obsidian’. The combination of unique flavour combinations and pastries that are just technically impeccable propels this bakery as one of my top 5 London bakery instantly. I know that I will come back to try many more of their items.

I’m on the hunt for the best cardamom bun in London this autumn, and this morning I stopped by Toklas Bakery to try one of theirs. The price seemed fair enough for London, but the bun itself was a disappointment. It was slightly burnt (I’d already eaten the most charred part before taking the photo), and there was hardly any cardamom flavour—if any at all. You can’t even see a trace of spice in the pastry (see picture). Perhaps their other bakes are better, but I wouldn’t recommend the cardamom bun.

Apparently it is the best hot cross bun in London?! But maybe I am looking at this through a Melbourne Australia lens but the HCB at that price point is not that great. They skimp on fruits and it was nothing special. The coffee was (I am sorry to say) awful. Their nduja croissant 🥐 was good though and was the only redeeming factor to the whole thing. 3.5/5 ⭐️

A very sweet shop with a nice seating area – intimate lighting, not too loud, and a good choice of music. The staff were personable and welcoming. They had some interesting food creations that were very tempting, but quite a few items were already gone before midday. I had the Plum, Bay and Einkorn Galette – buttery, nutty pastry with just the right amount of sweetness. The bay flavour was very mild, only coming through in a few bites, and a few of the plum slices were a little bitter for my liking. I paired it with a single shot oat flat white, which was very nice – good flavour to the coffee as a single shot, with notes of earl grey tea, and served at a perfect temperature. It’s maybe not the best place to linger unless you’re ordering a lot, as there’s a steady stream of people coming in hoping to sit down. Towards the end of my visit, it felt like some customers were waiting for me to leave so they could snatch my table. It seems to attract a lot of corporate types on their lunch breaks, which might explain why it felt a bit rushed by the end. Worth the visit for the pastries and coffee. The lunches looked great as well so I’d definitely be returning.

Helen Evans, a renowned baker from Flor, has established her own bakery called Eric's. This cozy neighborhood establishment specializes in promoting locally grown wheat from the UK. The menu boasts an impressive selection of high-quality croissants, Danish pastries, and exclusive creations like the confit potato, gruyere, and camelina scrolls. Despite the long queues, customers eagerly await their turn as the delectable treats are undoubtedly worth it.
I love exploring bakeries across London, and this is by far my favourite. I live on the other side of the city, but I’m more than happy to wake up early and travel to Peckham just to savour their pastries. I’ve tried plenty, and they have always been top-notch! The cinnamon bun with mascarpone on top is absolutely to die for. It’s also clear that the ingredients are always fresh and of the highest quality. Plus, the staff is lovely and extremely knowledgeable, so they’re great at helping you choose the perfect pastry (or a few!) to satisfy your cravings. And to top it all off, the façade is absolutely adorable!

I really wanted to like this place more. Long wait times (25minutes) with one person serving, quite pricey and then the items in my opinion were quite average/didn’t overwhelm me. I got three pastry items (no bread) that amounted to £17, which I feel is a quite expensive. One of the pastries was quite oily to the point that the paper bag it was put in was completely soaked through by the time I got home (less than 10minutes away).

No wonder this bakery has a line formed in front of it before it even opens. They only open Thursday to Saturday, and once they are out, they are out. I had a cinnamon roll, which was delectable 😋. The mascarpone icing was not too sweet, and though the bun had caught a little (I thought), it did not take away from its morish and fluffy taste and texture. I will definitely be visiting again and would highly recommend it. I also tasted the pear and oat crumble Danish, which was so good. I need a whole one next time 😊.

It really went downhill in the past two months. Used to come for the sandwiches, the egg salad was our fav and they usually changed the filling every couple of weeks, the veggie one stayed the same for ages now. We were also served undercooked slice of pizza and after I discreetly contacted them through social media, without apologizing they stated they were very generous with the sauce today that's why it's wet, which is not true it was raw gooey dough for 7 quid. I wouldn't take a refund, but it really pissed me off from their customer service point of view telling me it's cooked when I attached a picture or raw focaccia. Came today 8:35 and they were already sold out which is little silly to be honest. The queuing itself would be ok timewise, but you are made to spend 25mins next to stinky bins while people behind you are elbowing you and stepping on your heels to have a look at the menu. Maybe put one on the extension as well, it's incredibly uncomfortable queue experience. Unfortunately because of the shop layout, people just stand in the doors and block you from exiting after you paid, which just wastes everybody's time but it's a people problem not the bakery's. Has been getting the walnut bun for the past year as a staple and had one today as well, it has shrunk a good 20-25% in size. Not sure what's going on and it's unfortunate. (Also, you add the menu on Thursday for the weekend, which is already gone from your story on Friday like 4pm)

We went early on a Saturday morning and the queue was already forming but only a few people in front. We had time to decide our order. We asked what were the most popular and we took those as well as the classics we wanted any way. We grabbed a coffees elsewhere as they only serve filter here and decided to eat the pastries at the park. The pain au chocolate was really good and had that dark chocolate which cuts through the buttery pastry - I’d go back for that. The morning bun was nice enough but the coffee flavour wasn’t strong enough for us. And the pistachio and raspberry was also ok but found it underwhelming although I liked how they ensured there are whole pistachios in the paste. The service was great and although they are busy from opening they really spent time answering our questions and making the experience enjoyable. Maybe I’ll go back for the Pain au chocolate and try their cinnamon buns?!

We arrived at Eric’s and saw the Q :-( but definitely worth the wait. We bought a selection of cakes and pastries. The hot cross bun was still warm and I devoured it within minutes, licking my fingers afterwards, got to be the best hot cross I’ve ever tasted. The cheese swirl smell and taste just as good. The sausage roll costs £6.50 ! Not cheap….but so deliciously good :-). The almond croissants and cinnamon bun will have to wait for tomorrow. To conclude, Eric’s is a bit expensive but the quality is worth the price.

The queue is daunting but it's absolutely worth the wait! We tried two types of bread and a handful of different pastries and everything was absolutely delightful. I really hope that at some point they will expand/be open more days so that we don't have to queue so long to have these lovely treats. Nonetheless, I will definitely be back to try more things on the menu!

I’ve been going to Milk Run in Balham since they opened back in July, the pastries & baked goods are consistently creative & delicious and the bakery is gorgeous! The staff are friendly and there’s a great overall vibe in the bakery.

An early rise and walk over to Milk Run was worth it. Especially on a sunny Saturday morning to get in line before most, and all the park runners. The Selection of immaculately presented pastries 🥐🥮 was good, through a couple more savoury options would have been welcomed ( only two today ) However they do have a daily menu with awesome sounding/looking toasted sandwiches on there. Pastries 🥮: 9/10 Coffee ☕️ : 7/10 🙃the beans used top quality, just could have been a touch hotter, but that was probably down to the glass it’s served in.

Cutter & Squidge is a bright and modern bakery known for its pastries, baked goods, and elaborate celebration cakes. It prides itself on being London's only all-natural bakery, offering treats that are both delicious and relatively healthy. The bakery's signature biskies combine the best elements of cake and cookie, featuring layers of cream and jam sandwiched between homemade biscuits. One standout option is the salted caramel biskie with its award-winning status and indulgent marshmallow filling.
Ordered from Scotland for our first Father's day and had 5 star experience with Cutter & Squidge. I was really scared for a while about the taste and delivery condition but they surprised me. Very quick and perfect delivery and amazingly delicious cake. My husband loves red velvet cake and he says this is one of the finest he ever had. Absolutely made our Father's day💕🩷

Ordered with about 2 weeks notice to be delivered to Nottingham, I received a second confirmation a few days before and then again the day before! We had the passionfruit and pistachio and it was amazing! It was a very soft sponge and lots of flavour, not at all sickly. People compliment it and wanted to know where we'd got it. Really made the day special and it arrived extremely well packaged, not a scuff on the cake. Thank you for the great experience 👍

I discovered this bakery online and decided to order a birthday cake. The delivery was on time and the cake was delivered in perfect condition, despite the weather being over 35 Celsius! Clearly the delivery staff do their job carefully and the packaging did an amazing job protecting the cake too. I ordered a raspberry ripple cake and it looked fabulous and tasted delicious. The flavours were carefully balanced and you could taste the freshness of the ingredients. Overall, this was a very positive experience and I would highly recommend this bakery for fresh and exquisite cakes.

We had the pleasure of taking Mrs Patmore’s afternoon tea at the store this afternoon. We were seated downstairs and felt very much like we were on set. We were served by the lovely and attentive Omema and Fatima the store manager was really warm and friendly. We felt very welcome and the cakes and scones were delicious. The double chocolate caramel in particular was exceptional and the fruit scone was light and fluffy - went very well with clotted cream and gooseberry jam. Generous servings and spread. A wonderful way to spend Sunday afternoon. Many thanks to the team!

We came to Cutter & Squidge for afternoon tea and had a lovely time! The place is charming and the food was delicious, both the traditional and vegan versions. It was a hearty meal so we took the cakes away for later. The service was perfect, everyone was lovely to us! 💖

We had been invited to a Downtown Abbey themed tea at this very cool bakery/cafe. We were led downstairs where the room was transformed into Mrs Patmore’s kitchen. Literally the upstairs/downstairs lives of DA! The decorations were amazing. The spread was lovely and delicious. Fatima was friendly and welcoming. Have us various cake options along with the scones and sandwiches. Omema was providing very attentive table service. She patiently explained the various sweet treats and made the occasion very special - especially when we were celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary. Amazing experience! Give it a go and see how the other half lived!

Have not visited the restaurant, however, we ordered our wedding cake from Cutter & Squidge in June 2025. The cake was delivered without issues, customer service was great and the cake itself was absolutely delicious. The chosen flavours were Double Choc Salted Caramel and Raspberry - perfect for a summer wedding!

Ordered cake delivery online after let down by M&S and their cyber issue. What a blessing in disguise. I can’t fault the service. Delivered on time and well packaged. GAIL's Bakery Southbank is a popular chain bakery in London that offers over 30 types of bread, along with coffee, breakfast, and lunch options. The Lemon & Rose cake is a standout dessert, despite its small size. The bakery's Sunday brunch features delicious croissants, cinnamon buns, and baked eggs. While the space may be limited and cleanliness could be improved at times, the modern interior and convenient location make it a pleasant stop for travelers.
Fresh, delicious food and friendly, helpful staff. I had the ham and cheese croissant which was fantastic and a soy chai which was perfectly prepared with the right amount of milk foam. I took a plain croissant to go because I couldn't bring myself to leave it behind. Would go out of my way to visit again the next time I'm in London.

During our short London visit (just 3 days), we visited twice! (yes, that is how much we loved it)! Here I ate, hands down, one of the most amazing scones of my life! The maple one! Highly recommended if you are in London. They use the most fresh and quality ingredients and their products are super-fresh and tasty! Not to be missed!

So yummy i like it so much - Tomatoes & Courgette slice 0/10 . We don’t like it - Croissant - Flat white 3/10. Seems like milk without coffee.

Absolutely loved my visit to Gail’s Bakery near the London Eye! The place has such a warm and inviting feel, with a great mix of locals and visitors. Everything looked fresh, and the smell of baked goods was irresistible. I tried a croissant and a flat white — both were excellent. The team was friendly, the service was quick, and it’s the perfect spot to take a break while exploring the area. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re nearby!

Delicious and highly recommend. Had the squash and sage frittata and a carrot cake cupcake—both super tasty. But that carrot cake cupcake—it is dangerously good (high likelihood I’ll return for another).

Stopped by Gail’s Southbank while exploring the area solo, and it turned out to be a lovely break. I had a sushi sandwich, a cheese stick (which was absolutely delicious), and an Americano — everything tasted fresh and well-made. The quality of food really stands out, especially if you enjoy baked savoury items done right. The location is fantastic, with outdoor seating that gives you a nice view of the London Eye — perfect for people-watching or just taking in the riverside atmosphere. A couple of things to keep in mind: it’s a bit pricey, and if it starts raining (which it did!), the indoor seating is quite limited, so finding a spot can be tricky. That said, if you're after fresh, flavourful food in a great location and don’t mind paying a little more for it, Gail’s Southbank is definitely worth a visit.

We stopped by Gail’s Bakery near the London Eye for breakfast and it did not disappoint! Everything we tried was delicious from the pastries to the yogurt pot, but the real standout was the soufflé sandwich. So fluffy, savory, and satisfying truly my favorite! Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and top-quality food. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite before sightseeing or just looking for a great breakfast spot, I’d definitely recommend stopping here!
Kayla Z — Google review
Initially I thought Gail's is a private owned cafe, but later found out that it is a chain bakery/cafe that baked fresh, handmade bread, pastries and cakes every day, served with their house blend specialty coffee. I think Gail's specialized in baking first which is why their sandwiches or bread tasted better than the coffee, but I still enjoyed my lunch combo.

Tetote Factory, a remarkable bakery in London, recently celebrated its 10th anniversary by giving away complimentary budding bulbs to its numerous admirers. Known for their unpretentious take-out service, the Tomitas effortlessly create the finest Japanese pastries and exceptionally fluffy French baguettes. The locals of Ealing are well aware of their good fortune and therefore it is prudent to place an order a day ahead to guarantee availability.
This hidden gem tucked away from the city crowd is one of the most authentic and delicious Japanese bakery in town. They don’t have a lot of options on offer, but rest assured they are all solid options. Out of all the things I tried, the veg curry bun was the most amazing find, I had to walk back to get a couple more after my first bite. They also sell Japanese ceramics on the side, those are very cute!

Such a bargain for the quality you get. It’s tiny and always busy so get in early. An absolute must☺️ As evidence please see my picture attached. I dropped in to grab ‘one small snack’ and arrived back home with this sack of goodies as I just couldn’t make up my mind😂

The buns were delightful. I selected the vegetable curry savoury one and the chocolate lemon sweet one. The texture of the chocolate lemon was spectacular. There were so many other options that tempted me, and a nice drinks selection too, including matcha.

Amazing Japanese bakery, have been going here for almost 10 years and I love it! Bread is baked fresh every day so it’s great to go when it’s just opened. My favourites are the Japanese sausage roll (more like a hot dog because it’s bread not pastry), tuna and sweetcorn bun, curry bun, and their sweet brioche buns (lots of flavours like raspberry/strawberry/chocolate/matcha and they’re mixed with a creamy filling).

Fine dining restaurant
St. John is a renowned restaurant located in a whitewashed ex-smokehouse, where Fergus Henderson gained fame for his offal dishes. The bar at St. John is dog-friendly and even offers bone marrow treats for furry companions. The menu features simple British cuisine, including the legendary bone marrow and parsley salad, cold roast pork with dandelion and shallots, cheese and chutney sandwiches, hot-cross buns, and Eccles cakes.
Perfect for people who want good cooking with adventurous options! Got a drink at the bar as I arrived a little early, house wine was great. Our waitress was wonderful, and spent extra time recommending dishes for us. I got the Pig and Ox Liver, both of which were amazing. The madeleines cannot be missed, I would go for them over a regular dessert. Easy recommendation, get a reservation early!

What a special restaurant! Really enjoyed the inventive British menu, every dish was unique and thoughtful, without being pretentious. Fun to try some more unusual cuts of meat. Great drinks list and the bread pudding dessert was incredible. Service was extremely thoughtful and attentive, and helpful with dietaries. Wonderful experience and I look forward to our next visit!

This is by far the best British restaurant I’ve ever had in my whole life. I’ve come to UK for two weeks and nothing of what I’ve tried so far can be compared to this restaurant. From the starters, to the mains, to the desserts. It’s just “mmm” 🥰😘. So good, so delicious! Glad that I came here during my time in the UK. Would love to pay this place a visit again 🙏
Bryan L — Google review
This is unpretentious excellence. In a world where TikTok hype drives crowds, St. John just focuses on doing things right (boring done right). It is a classic British spot, known for its nose-to-tail approach. Service was polite and professional without being fussy. We never felt rushed and never felt ignored. The fish of the day was excellent, and of course we had the bone marrow on toast, which was worth the visit on its own. Flavours are not experimental, but the quality and freshness make everything great. I had the pigeon, which I really enjoyed, although the meat is firmer and the flavour stronger than other meats, so it may not be for everyone. Right outside is a more casual bar with a lighter atmosphere where you can have a drink and snack on excellent food without spending much.
Victor H — Google review
St John is quite the culinary institution where offal is concerned. The food presentation is unpretentious and fuss-free, and the flavour comes through. Not for everyone, but definitely interesting for the adventurous amongst us. There was a bit of a long gap between appetizers and main course, which dimmed the experience slightly. Overall, St John is a must-try for the foodies.
Sim N — Google review
Was drawn here after hearing this is many a persons favorite restaurant, including Anthony Bourdain. My criteria for a great restaurant are few: delicious, attentive service, and most importantly, creative flavors I can’t or haven’t easily replicated at home. St. John meets all of these. I particularly appreciate the ethos behind the ingredients, the personable service (shout out to June!) , and the unpretentious ambiance. It’s a bit ironic coming from someone who was once vegan. For fun, I’m gonna give a dumbed down explanation of what I tried. (I’m American, so I’m allowed to be dumb.) Bread: unusually good, nicely chewy Pickled herring: quite well done, not too fishy. It’s toast with fish, sauce, and pickled stuff. Eat the top slice of fish separately because you can’t fit it all in your mouth. Terrine: gamey, which I like. Like a square cold salami. Roast bone marrow: the classic. Fun to eat. Marrow has a subtle flavor. Don’t expect the intense flavor of cabeza. Roast middle white: very good. Like a pork steak, with crispy skin on outer edge. Prune sauce was pleasant. Ox tongue with beet: pleasantly salty, the roast middle white is more substantial. This was two thin slices. Madeleines: divine. I got these with a cup of milk and it was fantastic. Now, were any of these dishes so delectable that I’d come back just for one of them? The madeleines, yes. The bakery is phenomenal—I’d go more dessert heavy next time.
Joseph Y — Google review
Laidback environment with a no-frills serving style, but the quality of everything plated is impressive. Whether you want to try something different or elect for a comfortable classic, you won’t be disappointed. Do not leave before ordering the madelines, as they’ve perfected them. We had an excellent experience and would return!

Our new family favourite! Perfect for any occasion - I’ve celebrated two graduations there as the food is so delicious it feels like a treat reserved for special occasions but it’s also got a relaxed vibe that feels like you could pop in for a casual lunch. We always end up sharing everything to cover the menu as it’s impossible to choose from such a yummy sounding selection of dishes

I felt underwhelmed by food here. Some dishes were absolutely amazing like the feta, bread or carrots. But some didn’t hit the mark. I’ve got courgette as main and the portion was not very big and flavours didn’t blend well. Most of the menu is also fish. The wines were really nice as well as service was great. Overall we felt like this was an overpriced experience.
Karo — Google review
I’d been to Toklas once before to photograph the food for Bloomberg, but it was wonderful to finally make time to return as a proper customer. Walking into this spot on The Strand, you’re immediately struck by how right everything feels. Ivone and Divine looked after us beautifully—the kind of servers who anticipate your needs without hovering, making the whole evening feel effortless. We started with their olives, though honestly these were the weakest part of the meal—decent enough but nothing special compared to what followed. The peaches with green beans and almonds were nice, and the mozzarella with caponata, pinenuts and basil was particularly lovely—they worked well together. The lamb chops with tomato and salsa verde were stunning—you could tell immediately this was exceptional meat, cooked with real care. Our brill with marinated peppers and marjoram was equally impressive, the fish perfectly complemented by those vibrant peppers. And the chips? Absolutely brilliant—crispy perfection that somehow made everything taste more like itself. But honestly? The Alphonso mango was something else entirely. Even though we were completely satisfied, we couldn’t resist, and it turned out to be the best sorbet we’ve ever had—clean, intense, absolutely perfect. Toklas gets the fundamentals so right.

The beetroot with pomegranate was a perfect start — refreshing, vibrant, and beautifully balanced. The raw fish crudo was another highlight, and that tiny lime on top (finger lime) is shockingly sour — in the best possible way. It wakes up your taste buds instantly.

The staff’s service isn’t much to expect beyond making the sale. The coffee has remained pretty much the same over the years — still quite good. The bread tastes best when it’s freshly baked, though it’s not particularly special — just very basic and reliable in flavour. The pizza tends to dry out over time, so I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat it here. Since the end of COVID-19, Pavilion Road has become a major hotspot, and this place definitely plays a part in that.

The food looked amazing, but I can’t say the same about the taste. It’s a small boutique-style place, good if you’re hungry and just want to grab a coffee and a quick bite to take a short break. It’s self-service, very much a eat and go kind of spot. The staff are friendly, but I wouldn’t say it’s a place you’d become a regular at.

Beyond the great coffee, the croissants here deserve special mention. They are consistently fresh, with a delicate crunch on the outside and a soft, buttery inside. Perfect with either an espresso for a strong kick or a latte for a gentler balance. Unlike some cafés where pastries feel like an afterthought, here they clearly put effort into offering quality baked goods. The café is small but welcoming, and it’s conveniently located for anyone passing by. The staff are efficient but also take the time to engage with customers, which gives the place a pleasant local charm. The prices are reasonable, especially given the quality of both food and service. Alongside croissants, there are also handy snacks that make it a good option for a light lunch or something to grab on the go. Altogether, it’s the kind of café you can rely on consistent, friendly, and with just enough choice to make it interesting without being overwhelming.

I ordered a novelty cake for my son’s birthday party recently. It was excellent and so well made. I had sent a picture of what I wanted and the team at Dunn’s made a similar cake which was not only great looking but delicious!

Dunn's Bakery is a reliable spot for a quick bite or fresh loaf of bread when you're in the neighborhood. While they might not be the most extraordinary bakery in town, they consistently deliver decent quality. We've never had a bad experience, so they're always a safe bet for a satisfying treat.

We frequent Dunn’s so it was only fitting to order a Dunn’s cake for our wedding. We were not disappointed! Turned out exactly as we imagined and tasted delicious. We barely got to eat any, as guests loved it so much they had finished it off entirely by the end of the reception (photos by our lovely photographer @elvira_azimova)

Australian’s love their sausage rolls served hot, often with ketchup, so it was very exciting to not only see these beauties in the hot oven BUT ALSO for the ketchup to be put INSIDE THE SAUSAGE ROLL when we asked for sauce. What is this SORCERY (saucery🤭)? I don’t know but I didn’t mess about to find out. Acquired and devoured in minutes. Pure magic! 😋🤤👏 Vegan sausage rolls also available.

I had a lovely time at Dunn's Bakery, enjoying coffee and cake outdoors with a friend. The atmosphere was relaxed, and cakes tasted great. A small mishap happened when my paper cup broke and some coffee spilled. To my surprise, one of the shop assistants noticed from inside and immediately came out to offer me a new cup—without me even needing to ask. Although I had already poured the coffee into my own bottle and didn't need the replacement, I truly appreciated his attentiveness and quick response. It’s also worth noting that during these challenging times of inflation, Dunn’s continues to provide excellent service, employing at least four shop assistants at the front desk to ensure customers are well taken care of. That shows strong commitment from the owner to both staff and customers. Overall, a warm and thoughtful experience—thank you, Dunn’s!

The apple fritter made me feel like a kid again. The review is based on many products I ve tried over the years and the price tag that comes with it. Everything is always fresh and service is quick. Sandwiches are delicious and very well bellow the average market price. For the size of this bakery the variety and quality is impressive.

Coffee shop
Luminary Bakery is a modern bakery and cafe that not only serves delicious baked goods and coffee but also empowers disadvantaged women. With its original location in Stoke Newington, this quaint shop offers a variety of home-baked treats, including visually stunning layer cakes. The bakery's success has led to its products being stocked in specialty coffee shops across London and the opening of a second branch in Camden in 2019.
We purchased our wedding cakes from Luminary. We could not have been happier with them! They looked and tasted incredible - our wedding guests are still talking about how good they were! And such a wonderful business to support. Thank you Luminary bakery team!

A surprisingly lovely coffee shop and quality bakery. Great coffee, tea and homemade cakes. Enjoy 😊

Had Victoria sponge cake and croissant both were average, staff were nice but customer service was very slow even that the place wasn’t that busy.
Lubna S — Google review
Their carrot cake is amazing. The size of the slice that you also get is massive. Their other cakes seem very good too. When I went, there’s this cute dog going around. Bonus points for being ok that guests bring pets!

Bakery
Ararat Bread, also known as makhdoom, is a small bakery located in Ridley Road Market that has gained popularity for its delicious and affordable flatbreads. Visitors can witness the mesmerizing process of naan-making and purchase hot-from-the-oven naan topped with cheese or meat at a reasonable price. The bakery's cheese and garlic naan are particularly noteworthy, offering a crispy exterior with a delightful saltiness complemented by gooey melted cheese.
The bread that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. + Baked right in front of you
Zhi L — Google review
Is this the best flatbread in London? Arguably yes. I came without expectations and was a bit worried that the small stall would be underwhelming but as I bit into the cheese flatbread, the crispy exterior releases a moreish saltiness which then was modulated by a bold, sticky melted cheese which crescendoed into an explosion in the mouth. Stop reading this and go run to the middle of Ridley Road Market to find this heavenly bread. I love observing the bread turning in the rotating oven btw.
Farid H — Google review
The definition of a hidden gem ! , great food and great prices , having tried the egg , cheese and meat naan breads all were very good and very well priced from amazing home made Naan breads , each naan bread is a good size and has a nice amount of filling. The home made bread is excellent and is made fresh to order which only takes several minutes. If In the area and looking for a snack or something for lunch at a great price this is a great option
Callum L — Google review
Great place ! Bread is freshly made. Ordered meat bread, prepared on request. It was amazing ! Bread is crispy and the meat flavourful with a bit of spice which give a nice kick. Did I mention it’s only 2£ ? Best deal ! Staff is great as well.
T M — Google review
I love a no-nonsense place like this. Good cheap eats kind of spot. Very tasty. Definitely has an ‘authentic’ feel about it. Worth checking out for a quick meal.
Leighton S — Google review
The best naan in London. They’re great fresh, but I️ tend to buy their discs of 3 to go. They come conveniently in bags and are £1 each. I️ keep one bag in the fridge and freeze the rest. On the day of use, I’ll grab a bag from the freezer and let them soften in the fridge and use them as a base to make pizza or as a wrap for homemade gyros, or as a side to sauce heavy dishes. They’re also great for dipping for soups. Perfect all around! You seriously can’t go wrong.
Gege G — Google review
Not the best bread in my opinion. Baked fresh but bagged later in plastic bags, so it doesn’t taste like fresh from the oven. They don’t bake it for you on request, you just get prepacked one, which was very disappointing experience for me.I could just buy it in a shop, no need to visit the bakery.
Karolina K — Google review
Fabulous naan bread at this bakery on Ridley Road in East London. We had the plain and garlic naan breads which come in packs of 3 breads. They are seriously good. Best I have had in a while. Ours were still warm when we bought them! Bring cash.

Poilâne, a renowned bakery established in Paris in 1932, has expanded to London with two outlets in Chelsea and Belgravia. The bakery is celebrated for its world-famous sourdough and recently launched a delivery service offering an array of breads, biscuits, and other delectable baked goods. Emphasizing slow fermentation and the use of high-quality ingredients, Poilâne has garnered a loyal clientele.
Hands down best croissant in town. Love this bakery’s location in Paris, so come here each time I miss some Frenchness 😂 unfortunately closed on Sundays.

Excellent bakery, sublime sourdough. Prices are very resaonable for quality and location. I recommend the sliced sourodugh which you can ask for. The best bread in London for me. You can also find the bread in WholeFoods. They also have biscuits, madelienes, jams and drinks etc.

I’ve visited this brand in Paris and was thrilled to learn there was a branch in London. This is one of Europe’s oldest bakery brand, selling some of the best bread you’ll eat in London. I had half of large sourdough, sliced with some of the French butter available in the store. I also purchased a ginger cake for the festive season as an alternative to Christmas cake and Christmas pudding. A very expensive visit to the bakery but it was worth it.
Mal333 — Google review
Fabulous bread, pastries and biscuits made fresh daily. Also cheese, occasional sandwiches, jams and several other tasteful items on sale. They serve coffees and other drinks too, but I’ve not tried these. Have been going here for twenty years and it has never disappointed. Pleasant, helpful staff.
Andrew L — Google review
Good option for a snack in the neighbourhood. Small selection baked fresh. Also stocked some French yoghurts and cheeses. Reasonably priced. Couple of tables outside. If they did baguettes it would be a nice option to stock up for a picnic

I came here to buy their famous sourdough breads for my brother, though I have later on found that you can get it from Waitrose as well. But I was happy that I decided to visit this small place and I got the best pain au Chocolate I've ever had. I also talked to a regular customer when I was there, according to her Poilane has the best croissants that she only eats the croissants from here. I've tried it, but I still love the freshly baked hot croissants from Pret A Manger better.

Unfortunately I can’t give them more then 5 stars… what a beautiful corner of belgravia… bread is super good, lovely people working there and such a good smell. Luckily who lives near to them 😆 Highly recommend! GO!

Peggy Porschen Belgravia Ltd is a trendy bakery located in Chelsea, known for its creative cupcakes, elegant cakes, and other delectable desserts. The shop's iconic soft pink exterior and floral decorations make it a popular spot for Instagram enthusiasts. Inside, the aesthetic continues with an array of mouth-watering treats such as classic cakes, layer cakes, and cupcakes in flavors like red velvet, salted caramel, and dark chocolate truffle.
My sister and I have enjoyed many afternoon teas over the years, and had them on the orient express, the Ritz and The Savoy to name but a few. however today we experienced THE BEST afternoon tea we have EVER had. The sandwiches and cakes were magnificent and total perfection, as was the beautiful china that it was served on, the service was first class, attentive and friendly, and the whole pretty decor was just sublime. We will be back for all the other themes you promote. We are already looking forward to your Christmas afternoon tea. THANK YOU

We went for my birthday while visiting London. It was some of the best tea I have had. We loved the decorations in there and how cute it was. Every detail was thought out. They were allergy friendly and had a variety to chose form. The tea was bottomless and it was so delicious. It was so nice to be able to try different teas. The only downside is that it is very small in here so you felt like you were right on top of the people next to you. We made reservations ahead of time and I am so glad we did because if not the line was extremely long. I would highly recommend! Our server even put a candle on my finger foods for my birthday!

We reserved for a morning breakfast tea and it was nice actually all the pastries served was nice however the yogurt granola given was too sour that we couldnt eat all ..then that maybe can be amended .however, overall was all nice. Staff are hospitable they even offer to take photos for memories. Thank u so much

I visited Peggy Porschen Belgravia Ltd in June and had a wonderful experience. We ordered pancakes and coffee, and both were absolutely delicious. The café itself is stunning with beautiful decor that creates a lovely atmosphere. The waiter was exceptionally kind and attentive—he even offered to take a photo of us at the entrance when he noticed we were struggling to take one ourselves. His friendly and warm interaction with my children made the visit even more special. Highly recommend this place
Maram A — Google review
The atmosphere is lovely and the place looks super Instagrammable, really pretty inside. We managed to get a table as walk-ins on a Saturday which was great. But WARNING: unfortunately the food was terrible. The avocado salmon sandwich had avocado that was clearly off, the eggs Benedict were extremely salty, and the lavender and rose lattes were sickeningly sweet. The cupcakes tasted really artificial too. Honestly, it feels like you only pay for the photos and nothing else. We’ve never eaten anywhere where both food and drinks were this bad. Paid £70 for two “mains”, coffees and two cupcakes. The staff didn’t even ask if the food was tasty or if everything was ok – probably because they already knew.
Saule P — Google review
We visited Peggy Porschen during a short London stay. Super friendly staff, great atmosphere. We loved the cake. It tastes as gorgeous as it looks. Also the breakfast was awesome! If you are around in London and are in search of a piece of cake, a clear go-to place.
Orex B — Google review
I cannot recommend Peggy Porschen more. In the past I have only stopped by for brunch or dessert but I recently purchased a birthday cake from them and could not be happier with the experience. I accidentally ordered the wrong flavour but the staff were very fortunately very kind and helpful about this and helped me get this fixed. I picked up the cake yesterday and it was absolutely perfect, I could not be more grateful. I’ve found in the past that a lot of the aesthetically pleasing cafes prioritise appearance over taste but Peggy never fails to deliver both, I could not recommend it more.
Charlotte — Google review
Fabulous and fun breakfast tea at 9:00 am on a warm sunny day. It was delicious and beautifully presented. Great selection of the usual 3 tier tea items but breakfast choices. French toast, avocado toast on brioche, scones and sweet treats. Wonderful. Peggy Porschen's is so charming. I recommend going for either the traditional afternoon tea that I've done twice or change it up and do the breakfast or do both! Either way you won't be disappointed. Excellent service also every time I've been there also.

Maison Bertaux is a charming 19th-century French patisserie and tea room located on Greek Street in lively Soho, London. The establishment exudes warmth and nostalgia with its vintage decor and art gallery spaces. It offers a delightful array of pastries, tarts, and eclairs that are as visually appealing as they are delicious.
Such a cute little shop! A kind grandpa warmly introduced all the items to us. We came especially to try their scones—served with traditional clotted cream and jam, they were super crispy and delicious. Highly recommend the fruit-flavored ones—they’re so good! The staff even thoughtfully reminded us to keep an eye on our belongings and phones. Sitting inside with a gentle breeze and enjoying these classic British treats—totally worth it!

4.5/5. I cannot get over the scones and the collated cream and the fresh berry tart. Especially the latter. The creme inside was divine. The outer whipped cream is so light and airy. The dessert itself is perfectly sweet. Not cloying, not un-satisfying. Just perfect. With the freshest assortment of berries. Their hot chocolate is comforting, especially on a cold day. The service is good, there is seating. Would definitely visit this place many, many times to try everything they have on their menu. Outstanding stuff!

Yummy pastries and busy workers!! Recommend rosehip tea 🌹and the mixed fruit 🍓cheesecake and the raspberry tart. Both were light and creamy. ✨🤍SO good!! We got 6 pastries and two pots of tea. 🫖That FILLED the four of us up and filled the table as well!! 100% recommend if you want a cheaper afternoon tea with more bang for your buck. 💷💥

Their scones are absolutely perfect!! They're gigantic and freshly made, crisp on the outside and incredibly light & fluffy on the inside without being overly buttery. The interior design is super cute & cozy, and they have lots of seating outside perfect for people watching in a really fun & bustling area :)

Scones were very good. Very big piece and very generous with the jam and clotted cream. At first we were hesitant as the scone was not heated up but it was still very very good, especially with the tea! We also had the berry tart which was very refreshing. Price was reasonable, 40 pounds for 3 scones, 1 tart, and 2 teas. Would come back again!

This is the best moment in London! I loved everything on the menu — the scone, clotted cream, and tea! The scone was really soft and delicious. Especially, the Albanian staff was so kind and his explanation was wonderful 🥹 If I have a chance to visit London again, I’ll definitely come back here!

A sweet little patisserie with a glowing reputation – French patisserie served in a traditional yet eccentric English tea-room style setting. I had to visit as I was staying just around the corner. The staff were lovely, personable, and happy to answer any questions. I asked the server for recommendations, and he told me some of the popular items. I ended up ordering the Dijon slice, the plum and custard pastry, and a cappuccino. Instead, I was served the broccoli quiche and the pain aux raisins – which I hadn’t ordered, but the server had recommended. I didn’t ask them to change it, as I was still happy with these choices. The quiche was perfect – a wonderful firm texture packed with broccoli and topped with a delicious cheesy crust. The pastry was buttery and flaky. The temperature was fine for me, though I imagine some people might prefer it hotter. The side salad was a nice touch but pretty underwhelming in comparison – just mixed greens with a very light dressing. The pain aux raisins was spectacular – deliciously sweet with plump, juicy raisins and custard, wrapped in beautifully buttery laminated pastry. The best pain aux raisins I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot. No notes. The coffee was good too – nothing fancy, just a well-made cappuccino. The total came to £21.20, which was a bit more expensive than I expected, but I was happy to pay it for such great items. My only real issue was that the server should have made sure I got the items I actually ordered. That’s why I’d give it four stars instead of five – but I still left thoroughly satisfied.
