Bakery & Table Hakone is a charming cafe and restaurant located by the picturesque Lake Ashi. The establishment offers a delightful selection of sweet and savory pastries, as well as a menu featuring delectable burgers and sandwiches. Guests can enjoy stunning views of the lake while indulging in an array of freshly baked bread, cakes, jams, dips, sauces, and beverages available at the take-out bakery on the ground floor.
Loved this stop during my time in Hakone. The bakery had some many amazing options it was hard to choose - I went for a white chocolate and macadamia bread and a potato bread and both were excellent. I also got a matcha latte with oat milk, which was also excellent, albeit a little pricey (1400¥)! The staff were super friendly, and helpful for me they speak good English too. And the environment with quiet background music and a view over the lake were wonderful.
Kate B — Google review
The café spans three floors, with the first floor being a bakery. I didn't try any of the baked goods, but they looked tasty. The third floor has a lovely view of the lake and is very peaceful. I had a soy latte which was decent, though the soy milk was a bit overpowering. Service was really high-quality and polite. Prices were high and reflected the location and quality of service.
Aris — Google review
Beautiful views from a nice bakery. The bakery downstairs has many breads to pick from. There are table on floor 2 and 3 where you can sit and enjoy a coffee with some breads from downstairs. Recommend the cheesecake and affogato. The chocolate cake was a little dry. Views of the lake and Peace Tori are great. And on a clear day you can see Mount Fuji.
A M — Google review
Bakery & Table Hakone is such a lovely place to unwind. The pastries are freshly baked and incredibly tasty, the coffee is excellent, and the view of Lake Ashi makes everything even better. The atmosphere is cosy yet modern, and the footbath seating is such a unique experience. Highly recommend stopping by when visiting Hakone!
Randy — Google review
We arrived late afternoon and the Bakery was essentially sold out, which was disappointing. We ended up on the 3rd floor, where the prices for coffee and matcha were excessively high. We should have sat in the 2nd floor, as the prices were more reasonable, which we noted on the way out. Views were spectacular, can’t fault that. But ultimately, not worth the money. Matcha latte was solid, but not amazing. Cheesecake was as expected. Not bad, not great
Sally L — Google review
We stopped here for a snack in the afternoon, while waiting for the ferry, at the third floor there are panoramic windows where you can enjoy the lake view. Drip coffee was superb and the dessert was truly tasty! Prices are higher than the surrounding but everything was perfect!
Giulia B — Google review
A three-story building near the Motohakone port that serves as a bakery and cafe. The ground floor is exclusively a bakery, the second floor a general cafe and the third floor a high-end cafe. The difference between floors is apparent even if it is the same franchise, but for example you bought some food at the bakery, you can eat it at the third floor. We went ahead and skipped the queues and ate at the third floor. The coffee menu is just single origin stuff at 1000+ yen with the waitress preparing in front of you while you watch the Hakone sea in full view. If you are in the second floor the glass is not maintained and has the frosting effect from hard water and weather. Is that the price you pay for just the standard?
Wrai ( — Google review
This bakery is often recommended and has a lovely location with nice views over the lake, which makes it a popular stop for many visitors exploring Hakone. It’s also one of the few options around the area, so it tends to get quite a bit of attention. 🥐 The Bakery Experience On the ground floor, you’ll find a wide variety of pastries—each one individually wrapped in plastic for hygiene. While this is common in Japan, it can sometimes affect the freshness. For example, my pain au chocolat was unfortunately quite hard, and it felt like it might not have been baked that morning. ☕ Café Seating & Drinks If you’d like to eat in, there’s a second floor where you can sit down as long as you order at least one drink per person. Just note that here they only offer regular milk—no dairy alternatives. I ordered a matcha latte, which came already sweetened (sugar is added by default), so it might be too sweet for some. 🧾 Ordering System You place your order at a vending-style machine, and they’ll call your number (printed on the receipt) when your order is ready. 🥄 Third Floor Option There’s also a third floor café with a slightly different menu—soy and oat milk are available there, but prices are noticeably higher. For example, the drip coffee costs almost twice as much, though it’s intended to be shared by two people, as kindly explained by the staff. 📝 Final Thoughts It’s a convenient stop with lovely views, and the staff were polite and helpful. Just keep in mind that the food and drinks might not match the level of the view, especially if you’ve tried other bakeries in Japan. Still, it can be a nice rest stop during your visit around the lake.

Chaya Honjin Hotoriya, situated by the shore of Lake Ashi, features several souvenir shops and a spacious Cafe Komon on its second floor. Upon arrival, request a window seat to admire the breathtaking views of Lake Ashi, the encompassing mountain range, and the majestic Mt. Fuji in the backdrop. As you unwind, indulge in grilling dango dumplings and mochi rice cake at your table using a small grill.
❇️ We had lunch at Cafe Komon. The food was truly delicious! ● Esp the roast beef set. ➡️ Lunch = Katsu Set Rice (¥1450) + Roast Beef Salad (¥1650). 🟦 Cafe Kumon has a lovely view of Lake Ashinoko and sitting there eating and staring out at the lake, we felt so at peace and am grateful for everything. 🟧 The Togendai Pirate Cruise Ship had let us alight at Hakone Machi-Ko village's jetty.

Hitsumabushi rice bowl with fresh wasabi was excellent.. Simple, delicious Japanese flavors.. Pork cutlet was also well done with exceptionally crispy breading. View of the lake was a nice bonus.
Johnny H — Google review
This place was amazing!! We stopped in for lunch in the middle of our lake cruise and the food was phenomenal! There was a short wait, only about 10 mins at most to get a table for a group of 7. The food was fresh and delicious. The grill your own mochi and build your own daifuku was the coolest and most delicious thing ever! We got both and loved it. We would highly recommend stopping here!
Grace R — Google review
We had the pork cutlet, the seasonal beef cutlet and the crème brûlée dessert. It was the best food we’ve had on our Japan trip so far!! We got there at about 11:30AM and the tables were full but we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table and the lobby was warm and had seating so it was very comfortable. The staff were really lovely and helpful. The food was incredible, had great portions and the pricing was so reasonable - it only cost us ¥6900 for two full mains and a dessert (at the very least this is very reasonable compared to the prices we have back in Australia!)
Sophie — Google review
The atmosphere was amazing. It was nice and peaceful to just soak in the beautiful scenery. We managed to get a window seat which is a bonus! We ordered 2 desserts and it was amazing. Everything felt nice and fresh. I really like the red bean mochi!
Alexi L — Google review
Surprisingly amazing food for a tourist hot spot. Generous size portions, especially for lunch. I had the salmon on seasoned rice as a set. Superb. Lovely views of Fuji if you are lucky enough to get the right seat, which we did. Large establishment, imagine it gets super busy in peak periods.
Sally L — Google review
Service and staff we excellent. We had a beautiful view of the lake. We got lunch here at around 11:00 and it was not busy at all. The food presentation was beautiful and delicious. I would highly recommend it. This cafe is next to the pirate ship sightseeing cruise..
Mhatwood — Google review
We ordered the rice bowl with steak (Hitsumabushi), stone bowl Hamburg steak with rice, and green salad with 6 kinds of beans. All the dishes were beautiful and tasted great! The stone bowl came over a fire so the rice was crispy underneath. The atmosphere was peaceful and view was outstanding. Would come back again! Would love to try the desserts but want to try other places.

Tonkatsu restaurant
Tamura Ginkatsu-tei is a renowned pork cutlet restaurant with branches in Odawara and Gotemba. The main restaurant, located near Gora Station, offers a serene setting surrounded by rocks and trees. Their signature dish, 'Tofu Katsu-ni Gozen,' features brand-name pork with a low fat melting point and a delightful flavor.
Had a lovely meal here today! The price was very reasonable, and everything tasted fresh. I especially loved the fish roe, the smashed potatoes, and the salad—simple but done really well. I’m not vegan myself, but I noticed there were vegan options on the menu, which shows how thoughtful the owner is. It’s always nice to see that kind of care. Also, the fried tofu dish was super creative—definitely one of the highlights. Would absolutely come back again!
LIPAI W — Google review
Came here thinking it was pork katsu, but found out it was actually tofu katsu. Was a bit disappointed until I took my first bite, absolutely delicious. We went at 5:45 PM on a Friday and were seared instantly. There seemed to only be two dishes on the menu: Tofu Katsuni Teisyoku and Tofu Katsuni Gozen. We went w the former, it came with Katsu Tofu (with minced meat inside) & egg, side of rice, and a side of miso soup. Service was great, we got our food and drinks in under 5 minutes. It arrived on a hot plate so it was still simmering, it made for great pictures/videos (and just made it look amazing overall). Highly recommend you give this place a try, this is coming from someone who doesn’t like tofu. Tatami mat seating really added to the japanese feel. We paid 2,563 yen per person, one entree one drink. CASH ONLY
Mario V — Google review
We came for dinner and picked up a queue number from the automatic machine around 3:50pm, which allowed us to walk straight in when the restaurant opened at 5pm. We got the tofu katsuni which was tofu with minced pork and the pork cutlet set. While the portion was generous and the dishes were tasty, I felt the ratio was a bit off with noticeably less minced pork compared to the tofu.
Christine K — Google review
Surprisingly worth the wait! We waited in line for quite sometime as this is a hotspot for nighttime in Hakone! Really great selection of high quality pork’s for your Katsu! Highly recommend trying it out even if it’s a little pricier.
Spencer F — Google review
Nice tofu katsu place! First time trying katsu tofu. Need to queue by taking a queue number. There is a new and old building. Old building only serves tofu. We went to the newer building and also had pork katsu.
N Y — Google review
I never expected to find such a delicious restaurant in Hakone; I haven’t tried anything like it in Tokyo. Japanese-style fried tofu, but with meat stuffed inside, goes perfectly with rice. It’s not too salty, suitable for kids, and great for families to enjoy.
Kwan G — Google review
The tofu tonkatsu was really good for a reasonable price (1800 yen). Welcoming for foreigners if you try to speak Japanese as much as you can. Just take care if you plan to take other stuff, the prices might escalate a bit.
Faker — Google review
We originally planned to dine at another nearby restaurant, but it closed early. Luckily, we found Tamura Ginkatsu-tei instead, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice! Each of us had the pork cutlet set, and we shared the tofu katsuni. Both dishes were absolutely delicious—the pork was crispy and tender, while the tofu katsuni was rich and flavorful. The service was excellent, and the cozy, traditional Japanese ambiance made the experience even better. We waited about 20 minutes with five groups ahead of us, but it was well worth it. So glad we ended up here—highly recommend for anyone visiting Hakone!

Nestled along the scenic route from Motohakone-ko to the historic Odakyu Hotel de Yama, Salon de Thé Rosage offers a delightful escape that feels as if it’s floating on Lake Ashi. This charming dessert café is perfectly situated near Hakone-jinja Shrine, making it an ideal spot for a well-deserved break after exploring the shrine's beautiful grounds.
The restaurant is located by the lakeside, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls offering a beautiful view . I enjoyed a Western-style afternoon tea, and the highlight were the staffs, they were very polite and attentive. I ordered an apple pie set, and in addition to serving me a pot of English hot tea very gently, one of staff personally prepared a beautiful and unforgettable side dish right in front of me, so amazing, showing her 💖💖💖! Haha! I will definitely come back again👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

If you're looking for some grub after checking out Hakone Shrine or while waiting for the crowd at the Heiwa no Torii (Torii of Peace) to die down, walk abit ahead and you'll find a nice little cafe with a great view of Lake Ashi. Had their egg souffle omurice from their lunch menu that day and was very satisfied. Super wobbly and all fluffy on the inside. Mixing it all up made for an interesting omurice that had a light and airy texture but still rich in flavour. Their signature apple pie was also nice; plated very elaborately and paired very well with a scoop of ice cream.

Location 10/10 Ambience 9/10 Options 8/10 Food 10/10 Drinks 9/10 Service 8/10 The sun warms your skin while the biscuit tea your ordered warms your soul. Flirt with the waves from Lake Ashi, or write a poem for the mountains around her. Don’t forget to eat the apple pie you asked for. I know it’s difficult to get lost when surrounded by tranquility, in a small cute lakeside cafe.

Great service. The apple pie plating presentation was amazing, and delicious!

Loved the place - patisserie is delicious, very good coffee and a big selection of loose leaf tea. Serving is very posh - very much like typical high tea. Place is located just at the lake side and by the clear day you have a view on Mount Fuji - has a parking or a 5minute walk from Hakone shrine
Raisa R — Google review
Visited 3 November 2023 Had a beautiful afternoon tea at the Salon de the Rosage on our first day at Hakone. We arrived at Hakone around 3pm from Takayama and didnt get to have lunch. Decided to have afternoon tea as we were staying across the road at the Hotel De Yama. My friend and I both ordered the apple pie which was the house specialty. The waitress did the syrup art in front of us and we each got a different display of the sauce. Apple pie was delicious and the lake view was beautiful. Weather was perfect for outdoor seating.
Irene C — Google review
A relaxing tea and a bite to go along with it, with a view second to none. A little on the expensive side, but well worth it for the experience. The apple tart is exceptional, and I can recommend the cheese cake as well.

Lunch with beautiful view to the stream. I recommend chicken and fries, ramen. But matcha latte is canned one, taste is a bit weird, I just take one sip. I hope that that they will change to freshly made matcha latte🙂

Such a perfect lunch spot! Got off the train and found this great place nearby. Perfect size portion with friendly staff and they were so quick! I had the sweet chili chicken and fries and it had a kick to it. Loved the sweet chili sauce! Priced were affordable and it was so easy and convenient to get to.

This place has a beautiful little terrace overlooking the river! Why is rhere so little outdoor seating in Japan? It makes no sense. Food is okay, beers are amazing.
Laeri N — Google review
Hakone is by far one of the most beautiful places i have visited. this restaurant has such a beautiful scenery, with a window outlooking the lake. However their pricey food which i thought would do justice didn’t. I ordered the Pork fillet cutlet sandwich which was 1,500¥ (10USD) absolutely horrible. The sandwich had so much sauce that i couldn’t taste the pork. the sandwich couldn’t even fit in my mouth. The staff are so nice and kind but gee, look elsewhere.
Alex ( — Google review
After battling with the trains to get to Hakone, all we really wanted was just some yummy food. Something about the hearty curry pulled me in and the tofu milkshake sealed the deal. On a sunny day, there's nothing better than basking in the warm sun on the terrace, listening to the trickling river and finally soaking in that you're actually on holiday. As you can see, the menchi Katsu Burger was also a whopper with some pretty good fries to accompany them. Maybe it's my tinted memories but it peaked over into 5 stars for me.
George — Google review
The resto is on second floor. Have seating facing to the river, cozy and nice place to chill. Minced pork cutlets burger tastes goood. You can have extra sauce and other condiments from the counter, self served. The tofu shake is a must try, is unique taste, not too thick but taste sooo good.

This is the best food I've had during my trip to Japan this time. The texture and seasoning of the tuna sashimi rice bowl are impeccable! It was so good that after finishing one serving, I wanted another one right away. Friends, if you pass by here, you must absolutely try it!

The owner and Chef Yusuke is a real one. This guy delivered the best meal I had in Japan. The ambience and overall experience was insanely good, and the value for money exceeds anything I had in Japan. What a treat, if you’re in this region, you must go!!

Exceptional place, with incredible service as well. Chef was willing to open for dinner an hour early for us to accommodate our travel plans, and was very friendly throughout the meal. Highly recommend the Kinki fish - a seasonal item for the winter which is well worth the (very reasonable) 1200 yen top up.

What a treat! Incredible food and kind/attentive service. Each course was a work of art.
Evelyn V — Google review
We had the full course tasting menu and trust me, you really don’t want to miss out on anything. You could say we are quite the foodies and we’ve eaten in a lot of restaurants all across the world (from best of the world to local ramen shops etc). We’ve entered this cosy Japanese restaurant and the service and hospitality is top notch, you take off your shoes upon entry which adds to the experience (as a western person I guess). We roughly had around 7 courses and they were all incredibly well balanced and super tasteful. The sashimi we had was arguably the best we’ve tasted in our lives so far (yes we’ve been to the Tokyo fish market and had dinner the day before at a Michelin star sushi restaurant in Tokyo) and we still think this sashimi was better. The photo’s will speak for itself, if you are anywhere near we would say it’s a must visit. Thank you so much Chef and wife for an incredible evening and experience!! Dōmo arigatōgozaimasu! ♥️ PS: the price quality ratio is amazing as well! (Not expensive at all with the current exchange rate)
Roy V — Google review
We loved the 7 course menu chef Yuughen and his assistant Mikko prepared for us. (I’m sorry if the spelling of the names is not correct!) The combination of ingredients, flavors, textures was perfectly balanced throughout the meal. The tempura was the best I have ever had. The abalone and sea urchin appetizer was definitely the most intriguing dish for my palate. We thought that this restaurant was a real discovery for us. The price of the set menu is more than fair for the experience and for the actual choice of dishes that you can taste. The great thing is that both chef Yuughen and Mikko are fluent in English, so communication for us was easy. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Eli C — Google review

Italian restaurant
La Terrazza is an Italian restaurant located in Ashinoko Terrace, offering a variety of wood-fired pizzas, pasta, and salad dishes. Situated by Lake Ashi and close to the boarding pier for cruise ships, it provides stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains. With the option to dine on the terrace during sunny weather, guests can enjoy the picturesque scenery while savoring authentic Neapolitan pizza from a selection of 30 different types.
Stopped here for a quick dinner, we did not have a reservation on a weekday at 5pm but they let us in. We were the first table before the dinner rush, by the time we left at 6pm the place was full. The service was great, our phones battery was very low and the nice server gave us battery packs to charge up while we ate. The food quickly came out, the pastas were wonderful. The mushroom pasta comes with bacon while the tomato pasta is vegetarian. The vibe of this restaurant is great with the view of the lake. Would recommend to seat away from the door as the automatic doors bring in cold air when people come in. Reservations seem to be needed most days specifically for busy dinner time. The washrooms were nice and clean. You pay at the counter when you are done your meal. The service was great and one of the servers even helped us get a cab! Would recommend this nice spot for an Italian dinner!

This is a bright and chic Italian restaurant by the lakeside. We had a pizza, a pasta dish, an appetizer and dessert. The service was efficient and the food was served quick and hot. I found the fried vegetables appetizer not so worthy but overall it was a good meal. They have a canine friendly area (separate room) where you can have your dog join you at the dining table. I'm sure pet lovers would love this place. If the "halal" mention attracts you, just know there are no halal meat options on the menu. This place is worth going to for a decent Italian meal.
Imraan — Google review
Has both indoor and outdoor seating, large parties ok. Reservations preferred. Food was pretty good, decent portions. Prices are a bit high but not unexpected for a touristy area. Desserts were really good, especially the tiramisu and seasonal plum sorbet.

During my trip to Hakone, after a long day of tour, we were super hungry. we went to this restaurant for some italian pizza. Ended up late evening wirhout a reservation almost near to the closing hour but they were kind to let us in. The place was full house. Service staff were very polite and friendly. Ordered pizza and pasta. Both were served pretty fast. Pizza very flavourful and aromatic.. it was perfectly baked with juicy toppings. Definitely a must visit place if you are at Hakone.

Very good pizza place by the coast. Short opening time in the evening so make a reservation or get there early (as it opens is best). The pizza is good, Italian style and flavourful. They are generous with the toppings. The deserts are nice also but not quite gelato. The staff are pleasant as is expected in Japan, but there is a sense of rush which I think comes with having to deal with tourist groups daily.
Daryl S — Google review
So to be honest, the pizza was really good.It has a really good location right on the water.I'll say it again. The pizza was very good.Unfortunately, the prices are extremely high.Especially for japan, they are banking on tourists. And they are doing it because they can also because, for whatever reason, half the restaurants in the area close at five o'clock, even on a friday makes zero sense with how much money they could be making, I get it, they do what they can.But twenty one dollars for a pizza is outrageous. The waitstaff is really friendly. The service is great. The food is great, but the prices have to be lowered seven dollars for a super dry draft is way high.

We ordered the recommended Prosciutto Pizza along with a side of fried mozzarella bites. The pizza was delicious—we easily finished the whole thing between the two of us after a long day exploring Hakone. The mozzarella bites, however, were a bit disappointing as they arrived lukewarm; we would’ve preferred them hotter. Unfortunately, the service felt just as lukewarm. Overall, it was still an enjoyable meal, but if given the chance, I’d probably try a different restaurant next time.

We had dinner here and it was just about the only place open in the evening. The restaurant has a nice view of Lake Ashi and the ambience is modern and inviting. Service was very good from the staff who spoke English. We ordered pizzas and pasta. The pizza was soft and delicious. Prices were reasonable when considering the high quality of food. We had a good dinner here.

The cafe boasts an outdoor area featuring a soothing hot spring foot bath where you can relax while enjoying stunning views of Lake Ashi.
A cute café where you can enjoy your meal and have a foot bath at the same time. They also provide a few parking spots. There is a shop selling local crafts next to the foot bath. Their pizza is unexpectedly good. We ordered a margherita pizza with extra mushrooms.

An interesting place with a wonderful view. The cappuccino is delicious and well prepared. The coffee and chocolate cake is delicious and you can add a sort of ice cream which is delicious as well! I recommend!
Cristiane S — Google review
You can’t ask for more in a remote place half way between Hakone Yumoto and Gora. Amazing views, good food, best in class Japanese service and a super dedicated owner who is keeping the legacy of Naraya brand. It’s not very common for caffe’s in Japan to have kids play area, this place have multiple kids play areas and also a small library for reading books. Foot bath/onsen is also a nice attraction…and of course the coffee is one of the best in the area. It is right outside the train station and accessible with baby car…although you cannot move baby car inside.

A very nice café near the train station, but very quiet. The coffee is delicious. The staff is very friendly.

Incredibly great café. In addition to good coffee and cake, it also offers the option of enjoying a foot bath while eating. It also has a great view and there are special areas with toys for children. There's also a sauna area, but I didn't visit it. You should inform in advance if you want to use it. Bathing suits are apparently required.

Not a lot of very interesting or filling snack options, but the atmosphere of the cafe, the connected art gallery, and the wonderful hot foot baths are all great! We enjoyed a beer and an ice cream, but the best part was soaking our tired feet in the complimentary hot baths. What a lovely surprise!

Hakone Hotel boasts comfortable accommodations, including beautifully furnished Japanese-style rooms that promise comfort and stunning vistas.
We dined at the hotel restaurant and loved the food, atmosphere, and service. Highly recommend for dinner and/or drinks. Right on the lake with fantastic views.

The hotel is situated in a gorgeous location overlooking lake Ashi wity pirate ships cruising the lake to the ropeway (cable car). Lovely views of the lake, large and comfortable rooms. What let’s them down are the food options - dinner portions are absolutely tiny, not particularly tasty and very expensive, so not a great combination. Also, very limited dining options nearby - more for lunch but hardly anything in the evening
Eva S — Google review
We spent two nights at the Hakone Hotel and recommend it highly. The location is excellent, lake-side with beatiful views of the surrounding mountains and Mt.Fugi on clear days (we were lucky). The hotel staff is extremely helpful and attentive. Our room was quite large (38m) and well-appointed, though a bit dated. The onsen was lovely. There’s a bus stop at the hotel’s entrance and we found it convenient to the activities and museums on our itinerary. If you’re not interested in eating at the hotel’s restaurants, there are several small places to eat within walking distance.
Ben B — Google review
The location is very scenic, right off of lake ashi. There are restaurants close by. The onsen is very nice. However the rooms are very outdated, and most notably, the hotel controls the AC level, you cannot adjust it. If you are an American and like air conditioning, this isn't a good option for you.
Mallory — Google review
Absolutely beautiful location and staff members are all super courteous and polite and welcoming. Our top-floor room had stunning views and very comfy bed, and was perfectly quiet at night. Two (smallish) things that make this a 4-star rating rather than a 5-star are a) the shower, which is just a bath-attachment with curtain, and tricky to get in and out of; and b) the breakfast buffet, which is a bit on the stingy side, with limited options. That aside, I highly recommend a stay here.
GavGav R — Google review
Hakone truly felt like a treasure trove of experiences, and for me, it represented the highpoint, highlight, and even a source of anticipation during my 30-day journey through Japan. My itinerary was carefully crafted to encompass the iconic views of Mount Fuji, the unique volcanic landscape of Owakudani (complete with its famed volcano eggs), a scenic ride on the Odakyu Romancecar, the artistic wonders of the Open-Air Museum, and the serene beauty of Hakone Jinja's Peace Torii Gate. Our arrival at the Hakone Hotel was made especially welcoming by Cheong-san, who thoughtfully ensured we were well-oriented with the hotel's surroundings and the fabulous Onsen facilities, which my wife thoroughly enjoyed. Even on the morning of our departure, the hotel staff went above and beyond; the senior Security Officer kindly facilitated my early 5 am departure to photograph the Torii Gate and was there to greet me with a warm smile upon my 6 am return.

Fantastic ice cream. Had to come back for another one after coming back from our hot spring. The best ice cream I have ever had.

Not that great at all for 350¥. Average icy ice-cream with very faint coffee flavor. The black ice cream I had at Owakudani was much better for only 50¥ more.

Bought their coffee drink instead of soft serve. Taste average, but enjoy the beans aroma out from the shop. Dont understand why they do not help to throw your paper cup (take out coffee) even if you finish on the spot right infront their shop.

★★★★★ The restaurant inside the hot spring is fantastic! The portions are super generous, and every dish is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients—you can really taste the difference. It’s also very kid-friendly, with options and a welcoming atmosphere that make it great for families. A perfect spot to enjoy a delicious meal after relaxing in the hot springs!

Really lovely experience. We had booked in for a private onsen experience and saw that they had a restaurant. We hadn't booked a table but there was lots of room when we arrived (around 3pm) It was a really unique and lovely experience. I queried regarding the broth to see if it was suitable for a pescatarian diet, the member of staff asked the chef to double check which was really appreciated. It was easy to order and there were lots of choices. My husband tried the sausages which he liked and he also enjoyed his Donburi. A great experience before visiting the onsen.

We ordered set menus and the food was really good. You can try all the specials they have. The price was a little bit high though. The restaurant is part of the hot springs park and you can tell the counter that you just want a meal. You can also try their hot springs if you have free time. Shuttle buses are available between the train station and the restaurant with free of charge.

After the onsen session, we decided to have our new year eve dinner here. We had the Irori course and it was a wonderful culinary experience. The service was excellent and there was English instructions on how to enjoy the meal. Highly recommended for visitors to have a meal there after the onsen session.

Food is a but expensive but quite tasty. Options to grill food yourself or just have a pre-cooked set. I opted for a tempura set with sashimi, as well as a fish skewer. Flavors were pleasant with the fish skewer being the best. Service was quick and responsive. Good experience overall.

This was an amazing experience for me and my family. Ordered online with different language options and a wide variety of foods to choose from. Had a children’s menu which was a good portion for my child. I do recommend the beef udon noodles which is what I have had. They also have a onsen and a nearby forest adventure park. Would definitely come here again.

Very cute “mom and pop” cafe and photo studio. Photo studio has been open for more than 100 years. Everything we ate and drank was delicious. The ginger milk tasted like a gingerbread cookie, apple cinnamon tea tasted like what we call apple cider in the U.S. and the snacks were also superb.

Unfortunately the shop next to this was closed at 15:00. I had a ginger ale and a lemon cheese cake. Both were ok.
Érico ( — Google review
I will not lie to you, their picture of their cute train shaped pound cake drew me in. I was also looking for good coffee. Not the type of coffee that came out of a machine or a mix, I wanted real coffee with descriptions of where it came from, and roasting profiles. Other than the adorable pound cake that drew me in, the complete place is just cute, something you'd see out of a book. The serving spoons are cute, the cup and saucer used were very soothing. the place was decorated for full cuteness. We got a matcha smoothie, which was very refreshing, especially for being almost 90f outside. I ordered a black coffee, it was roasted to full city, it was very balanced, and smooth, it's of good quality. The train pound cake was not only cute but it was also tasty. An older lady waited on us, she was very sweet, and was attentive. If I'm ever back in the Hakone area I would absolutely stop by Studio Cage Shima.

Absolutely delicious, I was unsure if the cakes might be a gimmick at first but they taste delicious and don't compromise flavor for their cute appearance. The drinks I had were very refreshing and service was prompt. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy.

Nice and cozy place with 4 tables, just 100m from Gora Station. Excellent verbal tea. Cheese cake ok, banana cake - weak, just regular sponge cake with two banana pieces aside.
Amiru — Google review
I was here on 27 Nov evening. It was a very small family cafe with only 3 to 4 tables. Every single person need to order at least one drink here. If you have 4 person, you cannot order 3 drinks. I had cafe latte which was a total disappointment. See the photo. Cafe latte supposed to come with milk foam. But mine was just like coffee with milk or flat white. My friends had the Hojicha latte. Another disappointment. Only can taste the milk and no Hojicha taste. I am not sure if other patrons experienced the same quality drinks. And the price is not cheap. My one Star is for their coffee and latte.

This inviting spot features a cozy cafe on the first floor and an aromatic roastery above, where you can indulge in authentic coffee and espresso drinks.
I stopped by Coffee Camp while exploring Hakone and ended up really liking it. I got the cafe latte and the cheese hot dog set with soup and everything was really good. The hot dog was cheesy and savory, the soup was warm and comforting, and the latte was smooth with a nice roast flavor. Quick, attentive service despite the large amount of patrons. Order using a QR code. The place was fairly busy when I went, but it still had a really chill vibe. The music playing in the background made it feel cozy and relaxed, even with the crowd. It’s a great spot to take a break and enjoy something warm before heading back out into the cool Hakone air. Definitely a spot I’d come back to.

Cute spot in Gora and one of the only to take card, it seems. Also appears to be full of tourists! Really glad they are now open for dinner and super enjoyed their 5-piece appetizer plate and taco rice. Flavors great and presentation excellent! Had high hopes for their coffee the next morning and it was not good. Both the espresso and pour over were dark and bitter; needed milk to make it drinkable, which was a bummer. Definitely more of a coffee and milk shop than straight pour over/espresso. Service great, atmosphere great, food great, prices great. Would go again for food! Would not suggest coffee if you are hoping for the good coffee you might have experienced elsewhere in Japan.
Jana H — Google review
A nice place, offering excellent espresso. Apparently they have their own roastery. They offer food too, all nicely made and western style. The only drawback seems to be the popularity of this place. So you might have to draw a number and wait patiently, half an hour for us.
Peter U — Google review
It is probably easier to walk here rather than driving as the place doesn't provide a parking lot. Totally recommend the egg on egg and tiramisu. The interior has a relaxing ambience and overall a comfortable experience.

This one is a solid 3.5. The service was great and the servers were very accommodating even when we had a large party with kids. The coffee was pretty good however the food was only decent. The selection was pretty limited and they only had very basic items. That being said, this is a coffee shop so in the end the drinks and service/atmosphere triumph the food in ratings. Very cool coffee shop to visit if you are in Hakone!

The quattro formaggo cheesecake is described as lovely, cheesy, sweet, and savory with perfectly complementing cheeses.
Delicious ice cream (especially it was very hot this summer). Had pistachio and white peach (seasonal fruit). Highly recommend

There was area inside the shop for dine-in. Had to wait about 15 minutes to order. Their pistachio one is good. Thick consistency, yet creamy. The quatro formaggi is a bit too mild.
Lily R — Google review
I tried the pistachio gelato with the Neapolitan sfogliatella cone, which was unique with a croissant-like base. The pistachio flavor was rich and delicious, definitely a highlight. The cone was crispy but lacked the buttery aroma I’d hoped for, so it didn’t quite match the croissant vibe I expected. The gelato itself is on the pricier side, with premium flavors requiring a top-up, making my single scoop ¥920 Additionally, there are only standing seats for dining in, so it’s more of a quick stop than a sit-down experience. Overall, it's worth a try for the gelato quality, but I’d recommend opting for the regular cone next time.
Lim F — Google review
Good cheese ice cream, very creative and authentic however I don’t recommend the red fruit ice cream.
Isadora A — Google review
Such a surprising gem. Came on a weekday when there was barely a line. Dining in is an option here - rather charming space with fast jazz piano music and bottles of liquor at about ¥1,200-¥1,600 a shot. Almost all their flavours require add-on. I believe everything is made in-house. Note they only accept cash. Wasn’t a queue here probably as it was a weekday (reading other reviews it can be crowded).

Amazing ice cream! everyone was so nice, spoke good English, and the gelato was delicious, I highly recommend the fig and pistacchio but the four cheese was also very good maybe not for everyone's taste but very creamy. You could tell that they put lots of effort into everything they make there!

Probably my favorite experience on this trip! We stumbled across this little converted Airstream camper (he imported it from San Francisco, CA) after getting off of a bus at the stop across the street. What is more enjoyable than combination of snow, great coffee, and kind owner? It’s so perfect!! Tom delivers great coffee and also a hospitable person. Really lucky to be here. I am going again to Japan in October (just as your recommendation). See ya next time Tom!

The most charming, memorable, and pleasant experience! Hosted in an unassuming airstream, the owner is so kind and hospitable. His space was cozy and welcoming. The ham and cheese toasty hit the spot and the pour over coffee was perfect. The moca was perfect - well mixed, no sediment at the bottom, and a good balance of coffee / cocoa flavor.

What a joy! Both the delicious coffee (drip and latte alike), tasty toast and lovely service! We had a very nice chat with the owner, who is a very worldly and kind man. He gave us great tips for the what to do around the area, with even a note planning our whole day out for us! Thank you again and warm wishes!

Please do visit this amazing place and have a coffee :) I truly recommend a sandwich with cheese and ham, very simple and so good 😃 perfect before checking out the open air museum :)

Although I spent just fifteen minutes here, it was one of the most memorable moments of my trip. I stumbled across the cafe on the way to the open air museum. The host was warm and welcoming, and talking to the other customers. I enjoyed watching him make the coffee from scratch right in front of me. Most importantly, blend 3 was delicious strong. I had a biscoff biscuit to take the edge off. For the rest of the day, my mind felt clear and at ease. I have not had coffee like this before. On my way back, I saw the host walking on the street, and he waved at me. I will not forgot this experience.

The Orient Express (オリエント急行) offers a unique experience of enjoying tea inside a real Orient Express train located within the Lalique Museum. Visitors are advised to make same-day reservations and arrive 10 minutes early for their scheduled time. The museum's exterior and interior are well-maintained, providing a clean and wonderful ambiance. Upon arrival, guests are shown an interesting video explaining how the train was brought to its current location.
You’re basically having tea in a museum, so if that’s your cup of tea, I think you may enjoy it. Sit back, relax and use your imagination - as if the train is moving even though it’s stationary. Some cool interior design here, mayhaps I’ll steal some of the ideas for my own home, if I can even afford to. Ciao.

It's first come first served, so we recommend going early as soon as the museum opens (in high season). When the tour begins, you first listen to a video explanation (about 10 minutes) and then go inside the bus. A jelly-like dessert is served. Hakone Karaage Karatto is a laid-back lakeside outpost in Hakone, Japan, dedicated to serving Japanese-style fried chicken known as karaage. The restaurant offers a lunch plate featuring juicy, spice-flecked chicken served with house beer bread, salad, homemade soup, and freshly peeled fruit. It's an excellent spot for those exploring Lake Ashi and offers a relaxed atmosphere that is pet-friendly. The menu also includes options for dogs and cats.
I recently visited a charming local establishment specializing in delicious boneless chicken with crispy fries. The welcoming and relaxed atmosphere made it a great spot to unwind. My husband decided to try the fish and chips, and I must say, both dishes were expertly seasoned and cooked to perfection, resulting in moist and flavorful bites. The fries were wonderfully crisp, complementing the chicken beautifully. One unique aspect of this place is that it is dog-friendly, which adds a nice touch for pet owners looking to enjoy a meal with their furry friends. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience!

Came here for late lunch without a reservation. Tables were available and were welcomed in. The food was great and most options include a drink, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The food arrived quickly and the service was friendly and prompt. Very pet friendly with plenty of people bringing their dogs with them. There also is a friendly restaurant cat who roams around, probably fed a lot of chicken judging by its size! Would very happily eat here again.

We came to this place because it was one of the few places that looked good opening at 11:00am. We were the first ones in and it got a bit busy but nothing too crazy after a while. The food was flavorful and it was good. We paid $47 dollars for four meals and 3 cokes. The only downside is that the portions are very small. Almost like a kids meal in the U.S. So if you’re really hungry think about going here twice. We were satisfied but not full. The staff were really nice and welcoming. They allow pets and the environment is really chill. Overall, I’d skip next time.

This cozy cafe near Lake Ashi offers a limited menu, featuring perfectly fried, light-battered karaage chicken and flavorful mild curry. The curry had that familiar savory and slightly sweet flavor, quite similar to the brand Golden Curry. The friendly owner adds to the welcoming atmosphere. Just a heads-up, there's a single restroom.

This restaurant serves a few excellent dishes of fried chicken nuggets. The curry is also great. Menu is not very varied and quantity is not big so I think for the price you pay you might still be a bit hungry afterwards, or maybe that was just me :)

This is a dog friendly store, so you will see dogs. The food was great. We got the Chicken Karaage Curry plate. Despite the curry being advertised as chicken and mushrooms, it tasted a lot like your standard pork curry (a good thing, for taste familiarity). It came with some vegetables for that dietary fiber (you know you need it). My wife was uncertain but ended up loving it. French fries were good too.

We came across this restaurant and had the best chicken Karaage ever. It was juicy and came with cream cheese. The curry set was also tasty. The best part is being pet friendly, and we saw many well behaved dogs. Also pet plate with different variety of meats can be ordered.

Located at a noticeable place inside the Hakone station. Great place to grab a quick bite. You can choose your favorite snack from the elaborate spread and serve yourself after paying. This provides flexibility in the quantity and type of snack you want to eat. The staff are helpful. The snacks are fresh and delicious. The onion rings fried chicken balls are a local favourite. The crowd is trendy. However the French fries under the fried chicken are not crispy. The restrooms are very unhygienic.

Box Burger Hakone offers a variety of burgers, including vegan and chicken options. While the vegan burger was described as tasty, the chicken burger received mixed reviews. The onion rings were criticized for being overly greasy. The service was efficient and courteous, with Japanese staff receiving positive feedback. However, some felt that foreign staff members could be more welcoming. The seating arrangement was noted to be cramped for two people, but the provision of paper covers for burgers was appreciated for its convenience.
Cute and delicious burger spot serving California style food. Wedge fries were delicious and fresh, the food was hot and very tasty. Do try the craft soda which is like a light ginger ale. We had the Hakone burger and the Big Burger. Everything on the menu looked amazing! The service was quick and extremely friendly. I would recommend Box Burger to any visitors missing American style food or anyone who's hungry!

Me & my wife experienced this place for the first time as we were staying Hakone overnight on our two week trip in Japan for our honeymoon. With my wife being a vegetarian, food options can be very difficult so I found the menu online beforehand and this place had a lot of options. The food, shakes and sides we ordered (see pictures of some attached) were all delicious, including the burgers which were juicy. The staff were incredibly friendly and really added to the cost atmosphere. Only nitpicks really is I would have liked BBQ sauce to be served with the stellar onion rings and unless you wrap the bacon around the burger, it’s basically gone in one bite.
Did T — Google review
Overall solid burger. You can tell the ingredients were fresh. The amount of meat seemed little for the space of the bun and overall size of the burgers. We got the box burger and the bacon egg. For the two burgers with one side of fries and a soda with a ginger latte coffee we payed ¥7500. I don’t think this price was justified for the quality and size. I know we’re in the mountains so supply logistics must cost more but seems high. Due to this I’m happy to have tried it but likely would go again. The ginger latte coffee tasted like Christmas. Can tell it was made with a sweet syrup.

An absolute gem in the heart of remote Japan! After days of enjoying Japan’s world-class meats and seafood, we were craving a great burger—and this place delivered. Juicy, flavorful, perfectly cooked burgers that hit the spot in every way. But what truly sets this place apart is the service. The manager, Ino (spelling?), brings unmatched energy and warmth. She greeted us with a huge smile and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. Her passion for what she does shines through in every interaction. Amazing food, unforgettable hospitality—don’t miss this spot if you’re anywhere nearby!

Great burgers! Just a short walk from miyagino bus stop on the T bus line. Very helpful and warm staff. We got there right at time for last order and they were very accommodating. Good knowledge of gluten allergy (celiac) and explained that they do have a separate fryer, but it is next to their gluten fryer so there is some risk involved if you get something fried. Both the burger on a gluten free bun and the fried chicken sandwich were absolutely delicious and very filling. Stop here if you're hungry!

5/5 This place was amazing. My girlfriend and I came here because of the vegetarian options and it blew our expectations. The Hakone burger was perfect as well as the Veggie teriyaki! We had lunch here, recommended by Google Maps. Very friendly owner who has taken over the business from his mother. Seems like the friendly neighborhood place. They have an English menu and I had the shrimp and vegetable salad and others had a sandwich and curry rice that was both with meat and veggies. This did not look like a place that was only for tourists. Decor was like a well kept museum. Service was great. They serve beer which was a delight. Food has an average taste but is unexpensive compared to other local options. I have to admit the vibes are quite particular and many people might find it a spooky place to chill at. The music and the decoration around with old dolls or statues... it's just something I think anybody would rarely feel comfortable with.

Popped on for a beer! Decor is interesting with loads of bric a brac but it was a good find as getting somewhere for a quick drink and no food early evening. Recommend popping in. Didn’t have food so can’t comment. Staff were really nice!

Good service, beautiful atmosphere, but not comfortable. There is no button to call an employee, so you have to wait until the staff comes up on their own but this is not the main problem. The menu has few photos, the name of coffee that not everyone can understand. I wanted to order coffee with milk, but there were no names like “latte” or “cappuccino”, the names of coffee that I had never heard. The price of coffee and a sandwich is quite expensive, but the sandwich was very tasty. The same coffee can be bought at a supermarket much cheaper. I don’t speak Japanese and the staff speaks English very strange, this would not be a problem if it were not for the strange movements of the man who served me. This is a popular tourist destination and I think that employees should improve their English. Despite all this, I was satisfied. Thanks ☺️

Good coffee. Great view of the river and the valley in daytime. "Rare cheesecake" is actually mousse cake in Japan with spongecake on the bottom. Seating not super comfy. Prices are expensive, appx 600¥ for a coffee, 400¥ for a small piece of cake. Go for the views and because it's open later than most spots in the area.

This pizza restaurant has great food, with a mix of Italian and Japanese dishes. It's a great place to eat if you're staying at Hotel Indigo, and the staff are friendly and speak both Japanese and some English. There are two floors where you can sit and eat your pizza.
Such a quaint place with delicious pizzas. My husband and I shared one first and decided it was so good we ordered another. We also had the chicken karaage which was well marinated. Everything hit the spot on a cold wintry evening. Just the end of the road if u are coming from the Indigo hotel.

The food was just fine - not great, not bad. Ordered a the Curry Pizza and the Gorgonzola and Honey, along with some sausagesa and salads. Nice atmosphere with some running water under a bridge just outside, and great, kind service.

The food was delicious! Service was great. Pizza wasn't on my list of foods to try in Japan but this place was a nice find. The crust was perfect and the toppings made it unique. I'm glad we stopped here.

Me and my two friends were stranded in gora hakone and found this gem of a restaurant. Its small but very cozy, warm and lovely. We had eight dishes in total including the bacon n veg pizza, seafood basil pizza and prosciutto salad pizza all are amazing. Best food we had in hakone it was truly surprising and memorable. Amazing pizza i would recommend everyone visiting hakone to give it a try. Thank you very much arrigatou gozaimasu. Love from sg, indo and au.

The pizza is not worth the price. I'll take a swedish or italian pizzan anytime over this one. The vibe was really nice though.

The quality of the food and where rhe resturant is relatively located at Hakone. It is amazing, and I hope more people know about this place. Their big massive salad based pizza may not be for everyone, but I needed it for my health and craving for fresh vegetables. Special mention to their sausages, and pesto-basil seafood pizza; which is absolutely amazing!

The Timuny cafe is a hip and cool place with friendly staff. It has an ATM near the convenience store, so you can easily get cash if you need it. The cafe has a variety of coffee flavors to choose from, and the upstairs seating area is perfect for catching up on work or emails.
After a long walk, we were looking for a place to relax and enjoy the sound of the water and the beauty of the sakuras. This spot was perfect. Tucked away behind the main street, it felt like a hidden gem, with terrace seating that let us unwind while soaking in the peaceful surroundings.

A beautiful little cafe - staff were lovely. Gluten free and dairy free milk alternative Koji Milk (rice) and dairy free Oat milk available. Sit upstairs and enjoy the sound of the river. We ordered two cold brews and were thrilled.

Recommend the drip coffee here. I had the Hakone mild blend, very good. Toasted cheese sandwich was a hit, but my preference was the peppered honey toast. Simple, but delicious. Great cosy vibes, particularly on a misty day like today. Scores a seat over looking the river, which certainly added to the experience. Technically it’s in the smoking area, but no one here smoking, so took the risk and it paid off

A great little cafe around the corner of the station. Excellent drip coffee with a choice of 3-4 different coffee beans. They use massive slices of bread for the honey butter cinnamon toast which was really tasty. It's worth knowing although it's over 2 floors, the 2nd floor is for smokers only, and there's only 2 tables on the ground (1st) floor.

**★★★★★ A Perfect Stop in Hakone – Coffee & Comfort Done Right!** Timuny Coffee is an absolute gem in Hakone! From the moment I walked in, I was charmed by the cozy, inviting atmosphere—perfect for relaxing after exploring the area. The coffee was exceptional—rich, smooth, and expertly brewed. Whether you prefer a classic pour-over or a creamy latte, they’ve got you covered. But the real surprise was the **asparagus, bacon, and cheese sandwich**—simple yet incredibly delicious! The combination of flavors was spot-on, and it paired perfectly with my coffee. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the warm and welcoming vibe. If you're in Hakone and need a great coffee break or a light, tasty meal, Timuny Coffee is a must-visit. Can’t wait to return!

There is an ATM around the corner at the convenience store if you need cash. We had the cheesecake and it was delicious. For hot coffee you can choose from 4 different flavours. We had the Hakone blend, which was mild and very tasty. The upstairs seating area has couches, tables and the free wifi makes it the perfect place to do some emails or work on the go. Stopped in while roaming around Hakone. We love mitarashi dango for its sweet and savoury contrast, so a mitarashi ice cream seemed like a slam dunk. Sadly, this was a bit mid-arashi, as the dango were obviously from the freezer (still had bits of ice on them!) and the ice cream was just OK. Easy ordering process and nice outdoor seating with Fuji view. Tasty but not worth a detour.

Delicious, great price and a view that is hard to beat. The shop uses a vending machine with pictures, thus easy to navigate if you don’t know Japanese. We ordered a bunch of things but I just came on here to rave on about their purin (Japanese creme caramel). It's made of onsen egg and it's perfectly lightly sweetened with the beautiful bitterness of the caramel bottom. We're only in Hakone for 3 days but I think I'll have to go back to have this again. I love purin and I often eat it while in Japan, but I have to say this was the best purin I've had so far!!

Japanese sweets restaurant
On this radiant, sun-kissed day, the vibrant spirit of Japan embraced us as we prepared to bid farewell to our cozy hakonehostel1941. Just as we were about to leave, Kana San, the warm-hearted owner of the hostel, surprised us with a thoughtful treat to a nearby enchanting cafe. As we stepped into the charming cafe, the sweet aroma of freshly brewed matcha filled the air, instantly igniting our senses with delight. The moment we took our first spoonful of shaved ice cream, topped with luscious matcha flavor, velvety red beans, and drizzled with heavenly condensed milk, we knew we had stumbled upon a true culinary masterpiece. The cool and refreshing dessert swept away the lingering summer heat, leaving us feeling invigorated and content. The joyous laughter and heartfelt conversations shared with Kana San created an atmosphere of pure happiness and friendship. Kana San's kindness and genuine hospitality touched our hearts deeply. Her caring nature and sincere gestures made her more than just a host; she became our dear friend in Japan. With her infectious smile and compassionate soul, she left an indelible mark on our memories. As we expressed our heartfelt gratitude to Kana San, we knew that this day would forever remain etched in our hearts as a beautiful chapter of our journey in Japan. We thank you, Kana San, for making this day truly special and for being an incredible host and friend. ☺️🌸🍵

I was so happy when I walked past and saw that they had a small vegetarian menu. I immediately decided we would go there after the open air museum and we certainly don't regret that. I had the Japanese mushroom pasta which was fantastic and my partner had the seafood rice gratin. We were very happy with all of the food and it was also very cheap (less than £15 for both of us with salad, drink and dessert each)! Definitely recommend and also very nice cat decoration that made it very cosy. Welcoming staff too

It was the only place around the lake that truly felt authentic. Run by three lovely ladies who made me feel welcome, even though they barely spoke English. I had the curry omelette, and it was fantastic—the curry had a bit more kick than most I’ve tried in Japan, but even for someone who doesn’t usually go for spicy food, it was totally manageable. The waitress even gave me a heads-up about the heat (probably used to foreigners complaining), but I told her to go with it anyway—and no regrets.

This was a nice little shop next to a big tourist attraction area, hence the prices being a little higher but not as much compared to some of the other restaurants in the area. I ate the pork cutlet with curry, and shared a plate of omurice with my travel buddy. The ladies running shop were great with the busy business day, and the food was great also.

Cafe Asano is a charming and old-fashioned café located in the Gods Aegean Sea area, offering a perfect way to conclude an enjoyable afternoon at Yunessun. The café is known for its lovely grandmothers who provide excellent service, serving tea and coffee in beautiful cups with small milk/cream jugs. Despite the slow service, visitors can savor the atmosphere adorned with hand-painted flowers on the walls while listening to classical music.
Came here for a breakfast and had the loveliest grandmothers looking after us. Tea and coffee were excellent, served in beautiful cups, with the smallest milk/cream jugs. For food we had cheesecake, ham sandwich and hot cakes (which is the American pancakes). It was all excellent. Two things to bear in mind: 1) the service is slow, but you get time to enjoy the atmosphere and handpainted flowers on the walls, listening to classical music. It's an experience which slows you down and makes appreciate small things. Also, these women are cute and love looking after their customers. 2) they ask to pay in cash.

Ordered coffee, green tea cake and pancakes. All were very good. The old lady was very nice. What i didnt realize was that youre allowed to smoke inside so 2 other guests were smoking while i was eating and it ruined it for me. I wish there were signs.

A really cute quirky cafe run by the loveliest old ladies. We came here for breakfast. I had generous portions of toast and jam and coffee. My partner got a pork and ginger and rice dish. All the food was delicious. The decor is very retro and it has a cool vibe. The ladies who worked here were so friendly and charming. We really enjoyed our breakfast here!

Nice cafe, had the ham toast which was tasty but a bit messy to eat (the wet towel was put to good use). The staff was very friendly and sweet, but it took quite long to get our orders, so not the best place to pick if you are in a hurry. Nice atmosphere and good coffee!

This place was such a surprise. You order from the table, it’s a large place with plenty of seating. We tried the beer flight, the farmer’s salad, the burger, and both types of basque cheesecake. Let’s just say we went back again the next day…I’m from Texas and this was the juiciest burger I’ve had in a long time!! High quality food for reasonable price and the number of staff was small but so kind and welcoming.

We came upon this unique, quaint modern restaurant on a recent stay in Hakone. The food was incredible and easy to order using the QR code. The cobb salad was out of this world, as was the burger with crisp delicious fries. We had dinner here two nights in a row, it was so amazing. The first night, we finished our meal by sharing the basque cheesecake, but on the second night, we order one each! The music playing in the restaurant was subtle and very interesting!

TL;DR - Good food, prices aren't expensive, easy to order, fantastic design. The smash burger was fantastically seared, the salad was fresh, and the ragu was flavorful. The overall experience was great and we would come here again. The 2 pain points for me were in the burger - The bun was toasted and not seared, so it was hard instead of soft and crispy, which caused the burger to slide out with every bite. And the burger's sauce was too overpowering. If they had a smash burger with just cheese, it'd be better imo, and with a seared/untoasted bun, it'd be one of the best smash burgers I would have had probably.

While exploring the Hakone region it was time to find a place for a coffee and some lunch. We found this place and we are glad we did. Ignore the bad reviews, this place has incredible food, atmosphere, and service. The sandwiches are well balanced with great portions, if you're expecting a roast beef sandwich to be hot I'm not sure you understand how roast beef is prepared. Isshikidousarou the sandwich restaurant served us the most amazing sandwiches I've ever had. With its classy ambience, I would not be surprised if they ever played Jazz live with a full house. We came to Japan from the UK so it was very nice to see an ‘afternoon tea’ style venue. However it is a bit expensive for what you get and we needed to pay an entry fee just to get into the park where this cafe is located. We didn’t expect that when we tracked this cafe down so be warned. Food was ok. We were placed near the door (which was open), it was quite chilly. Not sure why we were placed there when there were other seats further inside. A blunder on the customer service part. Apart from this the customer service was actually very good.

This cafe was perfect for us because we had an overnight trip and ate too much at the hotel's buffet in the morning, so we skipped lunch! We actually wanted to go to the restaurant in the museum, but we couldn't, so we had tea in the afternoon. It was just after 1pm on a Sunday and the cafe was mostly full, but the turnover is pretty fast, so it's a smart choice to go when you find an empty spot while touring the exhibition rooms. We were lucky to get a seat by the window, and the ceiling was high and it was great. They paid special attention to everything, from the coffee cups to the sugar and coasters, so we had a wonderful time. They only had hot sandwiches, so if you want a proper meal, you should go to the restaurant. The owner was sitting at the counter, smoking while watching TV. It was the worst because I went in without knowing. The coffee was pretty good. The milk that came with it had impurities floating in it, which must have been pieces of the milk carton that had solidified on the edge... it was disgusting. The syrup had a container that had been left for a while, so there were lots of small pieces of hair floating on the surface, which was unpleasant. I originally wanted something sweet, so I ordered a parfait, but I was pressured into giving up because "As you can see, I'm the only one doing it, so it will take more than 30 minutes to make it." We were the only ones in the shop at the time. I should have left then, but I ordered a coffee since I had already been given water and was resting after drinking it. The café itself is clean and presentable. Not too keen on the music, but that's just personal taste! My friend and I both had coffee beans from Guatemala, really tangy and delicious. (Translated by Google) It wasn't a cafe... It was introduced as a ``cafe'' on a video bulletin board at the station. It looked delicious and it was close to the station, so I went there with my suitcase, even though it was raining. The dimly lit reception desk was deserted, and there was a small display case against the wall of the lobby with cakes lined up. It's different when you think of a cafe as a place where you can eat and drink cakes and drinks. Takeout only. I think it's okay to choose the business format for your own reasons, but it's a problem when someone at Gora Station, the entrance to the station, tells you that it's a cafe. (I wonder if it's only open to hotel guests?) There was another cafe right in front of me so I went in, so I didn't end up wandering around in the rain. Personally, I remember being so excited when I saw Crystal Sugar Stick for the first time (lol) All of the cakes have little sponge and are mostly cream. I don't like a lot of cream, so I haven't bought any cakes from this store after purchasing it several times. However, I occasionally purchase madeleines, cookies, macarons, etc. To be honest, I don't think there is any need to use this cafe. It's a little difficult to understand until you get there, but there are information boards everywhere, so you can easily get there. I arrived at 12 noon on a Friday, and there were no customers at that time. At night, it seems to be a dinner space exclusively for guests of the attached hotel, and the space inside the restaurant is very calm and nice, with plenty of space between the tables next to each other. For lunch, there were three options to choose from, two of which were ``vegetable quiche'' and ``beef stew.'' In particular, the beef stew was served in a stylish ceramic bowl, and contained chunks of chunky shank meat and large carrots (which melted afterwards to create a nice richness), and was very delicious! It was impressive to see a child who normally eats little eat a lot, saying it was delicious! Also, the staff (a woman wearing a kimono) was very attentive to the children and offered a photo shoot service on the terrace.I would definitely like to visit again when I come to Gora. Ta. You can really relax while eating pizza, coffee, and cake while listening to bossa nova-style jazz and enjoying the flames of the wood-burning stove. The dioramas on display were not up to par, and when I asked her, her husband's main job was making models. I lost track of time while smelling the wood smoke from the pizza oven. Afterwards, when I was talking with my wife about various things, I realized that her husband was a man of incredible ability. He appeared on a 2-hour program on BS Japan in 2008 and created a diorama of Hallstatt, a world heritage site in Austria. I vividly remember watching that program at the time and being moved by it, and I couldn't believe it! I was surprised to find out that the owner of this cafe is that person! My wife showed me the recorded program from that time on DVD! Thank you very much ^_^ If the weather is bad, they may be closed because they can't run the model trains, so it's best to call before coming. postscript Small World, which will open in Ariake on April 25, 2020, is 7,000 square meters in size, and the master is said to be working hard on the production. I had heard that they may be closed on rainy days, even on Sundays, so I regret that I should have called in advance. The Hakone Open-Air Museum Café is a stylishly designed café with wooden chairs and tables facing large glass windows that offer views of the green trees. It's located near attractions like the Hakone Open-Air Museum, Venetian Glass Museum, Little Prince Museum, and Pola Museum of Art. Visitors recommend exploring the museum in the morning to potentially maximize views of Mount Fuji and avoid crowds. The café offers a cool foot bath but some find the drinks overpriced.
❇️ The Hakone Open-Air Museum Cafe is a pleasant, cosy & lovely cafe that has wide glass panels which gives you an expansive view of the the grassy verdant slopes of the museum. 🟧 My husband and I had green tea here on a quiet weekday afternoon. It was really nice to rest at this cafe for a while. The green tea set came with sugar candies ( ✅️as the sencha could be a little bitter for some people).

A night spent trawling the streets of Gora in search of an open restaurant was nicely resolved by spotting this cafe above a brightly lit chinese restaurant. It seemed a little difficult to get into, but I made a reservation and was able to come to the store this time. When you go up the stairs, it's actually quite a spacious coffee shop with a nice atmosphere! ! (Rather, it's a valuable shop that feels more like a coffee shop!!) I was planning on eating the original bread gratin, but I found fresh cod roe pasta that I couldn't find at any restaurant, so I ordered that! My mother ordered the Madera-style stew hamburger, which is the most popular(?) menu item. I also like that you can choose the amount! (Women who eat less can also appreciate it!) The pasta noodles were well-cooked too! (It's just the right amount, not too hard and not too soft) I also got some Madera-style stewed hamburger steak, and it had a somewhat nostalgic taste and was delicious! I got off the bus heading for another store, but there was a closed sign even though it was during business hours. Since I had some time until the next bus, I decided to have lunch at this restaurant on the second floor of the building in front of the bus stop. It looks like a coffee shop, but it's quite spacious inside, has karaoke, and has a pretty good selection of drinks. The smoking area is separated, so you can smoke even during the day. I was given a seat by the window, and the atmosphere was very nice with all the small items lined up. It's a restaurant that claims to be the original pangra restaurant, so I had the pangra first, and since I was starving for meat after eating almost nothing but fish on my second day in Hakone, I had the hamburger. When you pass a pangra knife through it, it makes a nice crunchy sound. It looks a little hard and will fall apart, but since it's a no-guys dish, you can eat it without anyone seeing you. There's no reason why stew and grilled cheese wouldn't go well with bread. The hamburger has a wine flavor, but there is almost no alcohol taste, and it is thick and delicious. The sauce is brought to you boiling, so you can eat it piping hot. I stopped by the store on a whim, but I was able to discover an unexpectedly nice store. Café Riposo offers a nice atmosphere and good service, making it a pleasant spot to enjoy a meal. The lunch dishes are delicious, although some find them slightly overpriced due to the location. The café allows customers to grind their own coffee, which can be seen as unique by some but others may prefer the café to do it for them considering the price paid. The spacious and beautifully decorated store provides ample space between seats, ensuring social distancing.

Stopped in to this unassuming roadside Italian restaurant and cafe mostly due to its location close to our lodging, and I’m so glad that we did! We both ordered spaghetti for lunch - I got the Neapolitan and my wife got the meat sauce. Both were delicious! We are from Boston, a city known for excellent Italian American food, and we often cook Italian recipes at home. Honestly, I rarely am impressed by restaurant Spaghetti, but the dishes we ate at Cafe Riposo were great! The highlight however was the coffee. Frankly, it was the best we’ve had in Japan so far and some of the best we’ve had period. Both of use typically take just one cup a day but we each had two at this cafe (with lunch for that matter!) because it was that good. In addition, the service was great! As far as I could tell, there was only one man working in the whole establishment and he was very professional.

We had a lovely time at Café Riposo this evening! We ordered mains and desserts which were delicious. The interior lighting and fish tanks create a calm and cosy atmosphere. A huge thank you for accommodating us at short notice! (For info - we contacted the restaurant via live chat on their website)

A very cozy spot with great food and AMAZING coffee! I had the spaghetti with meat sauce and loved every bite, and had both the iced coffee and the mocha which were some of the best coffees I’ve had. So flavorful and delicious!

Great Restaurant, nice interior, good service and really delicious food at a really fair price. Also kid friendly. One of the best meals I had during my Japan vacation. I recommend this restaurant to everybody who stays in Hakone who likes good food (hamburger steak/pasta/good appetizers).

Came to this restaurant around lunch time, no one greeted us at the door after standing there for a few minutes so we sat down at one of the many open tables. After sitting for another 5 minutes with no one coming up to us we were able to finally wave down a server who then told us they were fully booked for the day. Would have appreciated if they let us know once we arrived. Waste of time.

Brunch restaurant
Cafe Aruba is a charming eatery located in the serene streets of downtown Hakone-Yumoto. The menu features reasonably priced Japanese home-style dishes such as spaghetti, pork tonkatsu, sandwiches, and karage don. Visitors can also enjoy a quiet and pleasant atmosphere with the option to bring indoor pets. Additionally, there is a parking lot available for one car and even the possibility of karaoke.
My friends and I were looking for a quick lunch snag and happened to come across Cafe Aruba. Where we discovered more than what meets the ordinary eye. LOCATION Located in the quiet streets of down-town Hakone-Yumoto, we entered the store and received a warm welcome by the lady who presumably owns it. MENU & FOOD The menu comprised of Japanese home-styled meals that were not too pricey. We had Spaghetti, Pork Tonkatsu, Sandwiches and Karage Don. All of which came out in a swiftly manner and left us in a slightly comatose state. Needless to say however, we were definitely satisfied and pleased to have found this hidden delight. BIKE HIRE We were also looking for bikes to ride around the forested valley of Hakone-Yumoto. We asked the lady about bike hire in the area and she lead us outside to another store beside Cafe Aruba. It was an electric bike hire shop which was another little-known wonder for us as keen travelers. We’re not sure why Five Doors is not on Google Maps yet but it’s a great place to hire a bike if you’re staying in the area! Overall we were greatly satisfied with our visit to Aruba Cafe.

(Translated by Google) I visited this restaurant after finding it online. I tried to sit on the terrace at the entrance because there was a dog, but they said it was okay to sit indoors. Inside, there were three tables, one of which had an elderly local drinking beer by himself. The owner guided me to a table next to the old man's, so I sat down. However, the old man was extremely drunk and suddenly grabbed my dog and wouldn't let go, so the owner told him to let go, but he continued to yell, "How cute!" so loudly. When the food arrived, I put my dog in my car, but they kept asking me why I was letting him in and bothering me. They kept staring at me while I was eating, and even when they tried to talk to me, I ignored them, but I didn't feel comfortable eating. It was really unpleasant. I don't know why I was seated there, but maybe it was because the kitchen was nearby and it was easy to hold the dog. I felt bad about leaving after ordering, so I stayed until the end, but I regret it! I understand that they couldn't say anything because they were locals, but if that was the case, I would have been fine eating outside. This is not a place for people with dogs. I've never experienced such a terrible experience!
