The café spans three floors, with the first floor being a bakery. I didn't try any of the baked goods, but they looked tasty. The third floor has a lovely view of the lake and is very peaceful. I had a soy latte which was decent, though the soy milk was a bit overpowering. Service was really high-quality and polite. Prices were high and reflected the location and quality of service.

Beautiful views from a nice bakery. The bakery downstairs has many breads to pick from. There are table on floor 2 and 3 where you can sit and enjoy a coffee with some breads from downstairs. Recommend the cheesecake and affogato. The chocolate cake was a little dry. Views of the lake and Peace Tori are great. And on a clear day you can see Mount Fuji.

Bakery & Table Hakone is such a lovely place to unwind. The pastries are freshly baked and incredibly tasty, the coffee is excellent, and the view of Lake Ashi makes everything even better. The atmosphere is cosy yet modern, and the footbath seating is such a unique experience. Highly recommend stopping by when visiting Hakone!

We arrived late afternoon and the Bakery was essentially sold out, which was disappointing. We ended up on the 3rd floor, where the prices for coffee and matcha were excessively high. We should have sat in the 2nd floor, as the prices were more reasonable, which we noted on the way out. Views were spectacular, can’t fault that. But ultimately, not worth the money. Matcha latte was solid, but not amazing. Cheesecake was as expected. Not bad, not great

We stopped here for a snack in the afternoon, while waiting for the ferry, at the third floor there are panoramic windows where you can enjoy the lake view. Drip coffee was superb and the dessert was truly tasty! Prices are higher than the surrounding but everything was perfect!

A three-story building near the Motohakone port that serves as a bakery and cafe. The ground floor is exclusively a bakery, the second floor a general cafe and the third floor a high-end cafe. The difference between floors is apparent even if it is the same franchise, but for example you bought some food at the bakery, you can eat it at the third floor. We went ahead and skipped the queues and ate at the third floor. The coffee menu is just single origin stuff at 1000+ yen with the waitress preparing in front of you while you watch the Hakone sea in full view. If you are in the second floor the glass is not maintained and has the frosting effect from hard water and weather. Is that the price you pay for just the standard?

It’s also one of the few options around the area, so it tends to get quite a bit of attention. 🥐 The Bakery Experience On the ground floor, you’ll find a wide variety of pastries—each one individually wrapped in plastic for hygiene. While this is common in Japan, it can sometimes affect the freshness. For example, my pain au chocolat was unfortunately quite hard, and it felt like it might not have been baked that morning. ☕ Café Seating & Drinks If you’d like to eat in, there’s a second floor where you can sit down as long as you order at least one drink per person. Just note that here they only offer regular milk—no dairy alternatives. I ordered a matcha latte, which came already sweetened (sugar is added by default), so it might be too sweet for some. 🧾 Ordering System You place your order at a vending-style machine, and they’ll call your number (printed on the receipt) when your order is ready. 🥄 Third Floor Option There’s also a third floor café with a slightly different menu—soy and oat milk are available there, but prices are noticeably higher. For example, the drip coffee costs almost twice as much, though it’s intended to be shared by two people, as kindly explained by the staff. 📝 Final Thoughts It’s a convenient stop with lovely views, and the staff were polite and helpful. Just keep in mind that the food and drinks might not match the level of the view, especially if you’ve tried other bakeries in Japan. Still, it can be a nice rest stop during your visit around the lake.

Hitsumabushi rice bowl with fresh wasabi was excellent.. Simple, delicious Japanese flavors.. Pork cutlet was also well done with exceptionally crispy breading. View of the lake was a nice bonus.

This place was amazing!! We stopped in for lunch in the middle of our lake cruise and the food was phenomenal! There was a short wait, only about 10 mins at most to get a table for a group of 7. The food was fresh and delicious. The grill your own mochi and build your own daifuku was the coolest and most delicious thing ever! We got both and loved it. We would highly recommend stopping here!

We had the pork cutlet, the seasonal beef cutlet and the crème brûlée dessert. It was the best food we’ve had on our Japan trip so far!! We got there at about 11:30AM and the tables were full but we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table and the lobby was warm and had seating so it was very comfortable. The staff were really lovely and helpful. The food was incredible, had great portions and the pricing was so reasonable - it only cost us ¥6900 for two full mains and a dessert (at the very least this is very reasonable compared to the prices we have back in Australia!)

The atmosphere was amazing. It was nice and peaceful to just soak in the beautiful scenery. We managed to get a window seat which is a bonus! We ordered 2 desserts and it was amazing. Everything felt nice and fresh. I really like the red bean mochi!

Surprisingly amazing food for a tourist hot spot. Generous size portions, especially for lunch. I had the salmon on seasoned rice as a set. Superb. Lovely views of Fuji if you are lucky enough to get the right seat, which we did. Large establishment, imagine it gets super busy in peak periods.

Service and staff we excellent. We had a beautiful view of the lake. We got lunch here at around 11:00 and it was not busy at all. The food presentation was beautiful and delicious. I would highly recommend it. This cafe is next to the pirate ship sightseeing cruise..

We ordered the rice bowl with steak (Hitsumabushi), stone bowl Hamburg steak with rice, and green salad with 6 kinds of beans. All the dishes were beautiful and tasted great! The stone bowl came over a fire so the rice was crispy underneath. The atmosphere was peaceful and view was outstanding. Would come back again! Would love to try the desserts but want to try other places.

Came here thinking it was pork katsu, but found out it was actually tofu katsu. Was a bit disappointed until I took my first bite, absolutely delicious. We went at 5:45 PM on a Friday and were seared instantly. There seemed to only be two dishes on the menu: Tofu Katsuni Teisyoku and Tofu Katsuni Gozen. We went w the former, it came with Katsu Tofu (with minced meat inside) & egg, side of rice, and a side of miso soup. Service was great, we got our food and drinks in under 5 minutes. It arrived on a hot plate so it was still simmering, it made for great pictures/videos (and just made it look amazing overall). Highly recommend you give this place a try, this is coming from someone who doesn’t like tofu. Tatami mat seating really added to the japanese feel. We paid 2,563 yen per person, one entree one drink. CASH ONLY

We came for dinner and picked up a queue number from the automatic machine around 3:50pm, which allowed us to walk straight in when the restaurant opened at 5pm. We got the tofu katsuni which was tofu with minced pork and the pork cutlet set. While the portion was generous and the dishes were tasty, I felt the ratio was a bit off with noticeably less minced pork compared to the tofu.

Surprisingly worth the wait! We waited in line for quite sometime as this is a hotspot for nighttime in Hakone! Really great selection of high quality pork’s for your Katsu! Highly recommend trying it out even if it’s a little pricier.

Nice tofu katsu place! First time trying katsu tofu. Need to queue by taking a queue number. There is a new and old building. Old building only serves tofu. We went to the newer building and also had pork katsu.

I never expected to find such a delicious restaurant in Hakone; I haven’t tried anything like it in Tokyo. Japanese-style fried tofu, but with meat stuffed inside, goes perfectly with rice. It’s not too salty, suitable for kids, and great for families to enjoy.

The tofu tonkatsu was really good for a reasonable price (1800 yen). Welcoming for foreigners if you try to speak Japanese as much as you can. Just take care if you plan to take other stuff, the prices might escalate a bit.

We originally planned to dine at another nearby restaurant, but it closed early. Luckily, we found Tamura Ginkatsu-tei instead, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice! Each of us had the pork cutlet set, and we shared the tofu katsuni. Both dishes were absolutely delicious—the pork was crispy and tender, while the tofu katsuni was rich and flavorful. The service was excellent, and the cozy, traditional Japanese ambiance made the experience even better. We waited about 20 minutes with five groups ahead of us, but it was well worth it. So glad we ended up here—highly recommend for anyone visiting Hakone!

If you're looking for some grub after checking out Hakone Shrine or while waiting for the crowd at the Heiwa no Torii (Torii of Peace) to die down, walk abit ahead and you'll find a nice little cafe with a great view of Lake Ashi. Had their egg souffle omurice from their lunch menu that day and was very satisfied. Super wobbly and all fluffy on the inside. Mixing it all up made for an interesting omurice that had a light and airy texture but still rich in flavour. Their signature apple pie was also nice; plated very elaborately and paired very well with a scoop of ice cream.

Flirt with the waves from Lake Ashi, or write a poem for the mountains around her. Don’t forget to eat the apple pie you asked for. I know it’s difficult to get lost when surrounded by tranquility, in a small cute lakeside cafe.

Visited 3 November 2023 Had a beautiful afternoon tea at the Salon de the Rosage on our first day at Hakone. We arrived at Hakone around 3pm from Takayama and didnt get to have lunch. Decided to have afternoon tea as we were staying across the road at the Hotel De Yama. My friend and I both ordered the apple pie which was the house specialty. The waitress did the syrup art in front of us and we each got a different display of the sauce. Apple pie was delicious and the lake view was beautiful. Weather was perfect for outdoor seating.

A relaxing tea and a bite to go along with it, with a view second to none. A little on the expensive side, but well worth it for the experience. The apple tart is exceptional, and I can recommend the cheese cake as well.

Lunch with beautiful view to the stream. I recommend chicken and fries, ramen. But matcha latte is canned one, taste is a bit weird, I just take one sip. I hope that that they will change to freshly made matcha latte🙂

Such a perfect lunch spot! Got off the train and found this great place nearby. Perfect size portion with friendly staff and they were so quick! I had the sweet chili chicken and fries and it had a kick to it. Loved the sweet chili sauce! Priced were affordable and it was so easy and convenient to get to.

This place has a beautiful little terrace overlooking the river! Why is rhere so little outdoor seating in Japan? It makes no sense. Food is okay, beers are amazing.

Hakone is by far one of the most beautiful places i have visited. this restaurant has such a beautiful scenery, with a window outlooking the lake. However their pricey food which i thought would do justice didn’t. I ordered the Pork fillet cutlet sandwich which was 1,500¥ (10USD) absolutely horrible. The sandwich had so much sauce that i couldn’t taste the pork. the sandwich couldn’t even fit in my mouth. The staff are so nice and kind but gee, look elsewhere.

After battling with the trains to get to Hakone, all we really wanted was just some yummy food. Something about the hearty curry pulled me in and the tofu milkshake sealed the deal. On a sunny day, there's nothing better than basking in the warm sun on the terrace, listening to the trickling river and finally soaking in that you're actually on holiday. As you can see, the menchi Katsu Burger was also a whopper with some pretty good fries to accompany them. Maybe it's my tinted memories but it peaked over into 5 stars for me.

The resto is on second floor. Have seating facing to the river, cozy and nice place to chill. Minced pork cutlets burger tastes goood. You can have extra sauce and other condiments from the counter, self served. The tofu shake is a must try, is unique taste, not too thick but taste sooo good.

I loved the ramen!! And the tofu shake black sesame was pretty good too. The ambience is nice in the terrace with views to the mountain.

The owner and Chef Yusuke is a real one. This guy delivered the best meal I had in Japan. The ambience and overall experience was insanely good, and the value for money exceeds anything I had in Japan. What a treat, if you’re in this region, you must go!!

Exceptional place, with incredible service as well. Chef was willing to open for dinner an hour early for us to accommodate our travel plans, and was very friendly throughout the meal. Highly recommend the Kinki fish - a seasonal item for the winter which is well worth the (very reasonable) 1200 yen top up.

We had the full course tasting menu and trust me, you really don’t want to miss out on anything. You could say we are quite the foodies and we’ve eaten in a lot of restaurants all across the world (from best of the world to local ramen shops etc). We’ve entered this cosy Japanese restaurant and the service and hospitality is top notch, you take off your shoes upon entry which adds to the experience (as a western person I guess). We roughly had around 7 courses and they were all incredibly well balanced and super tasteful. The sashimi we had was arguably the best we’ve tasted in our lives so far (yes we’ve been to the Tokyo fish market and had dinner the day before at a Michelin star sushi restaurant in Tokyo) and we still think this sashimi was better. The photo’s will speak for itself, if you are anywhere near we would say it’s a must visit. Thank you so much Chef and wife for an incredible evening and experience!! Dōmo arigatōgozaimasu! ♥️ PS: the price quality ratio is amazing as well! (Not expensive at all with the current exchange rate)

We loved the 7 course menu chef Yuughen and his assistant Mikko prepared for us. (I’m sorry if the spelling of the names is not correct!) The combination of ingredients, flavors, textures was perfectly balanced throughout the meal. The tempura was the best I have ever had. The abalone and sea urchin appetizer was definitely the most intriguing dish for my palate. We thought that this restaurant was a real discovery for us. The price of the set menu is more than fair for the experience and for the actual choice of dishes that you can taste. The great thing is that both chef Yuughen and Mikko are fluent in English, so communication for us was easy. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Out of expectation, Yuzen is a nice japanese restaurant in Hakone. The shabu shabu and tempura were really tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful.

This is a bright and chic Italian restaurant by the lakeside. We had a pizza, a pasta dish, an appetizer and dessert. The service was efficient and the food was served quick and hot. I found the fried vegetables appetizer not so worthy but overall it was a good meal. They have a canine friendly area (separate room) where you can have your dog join you at the dining table. I'm sure pet lovers would love this place. If the "halal" mention attracts you, just know there are no halal meat options on the menu. This place is worth going to for a decent Italian meal.

Has both indoor and outdoor seating, large parties ok. Reservations preferred. Food was pretty good, decent portions. Prices are a bit high but not unexpected for a touristy area. Desserts were really good, especially the tiramisu and seasonal plum sorbet.

During my trip to Hakone, after a long day of tour, we were super hungry. we went to this restaurant for some italian pizza. Ended up late evening wirhout a reservation almost near to the closing hour but they were kind to let us in. The place was full house. Service staff were very polite and friendly. Ordered pizza and pasta. Both were served pretty fast. Pizza very flavourful and aromatic.. it was perfectly baked with juicy toppings. Definitely a must visit place if you are at Hakone.

Very good pizza place by the coast. Short opening time in the evening so make a reservation or get there early (as it opens is best). The pizza is good, Italian style and flavourful. They are generous with the toppings. The deserts are nice also but not quite gelato. The staff are pleasant as is expected in Japan, but there is a sense of rush which I think comes with having to deal with tourist groups daily.

So to be honest, the pizza was really good.It has a really good location right on the water.I'll say it again.The pizza was very good.Unfortunately, the prices are extremely high.Especially for japan, they are banking on tourists.And they are doing it because they can also because, for whatever reason, half the restaurants in the area close at five o'clock, even on a friday makes zero sense with how much money they could be making, I get it, they do what they can.But twenty one dollars for a pizza is outrageous. The waitstaff is really friendly.The service is great.The food is great, but the prices have to be lowered seven dollars for a super dry draft is way high.

We ordered the recommended Prosciutto Pizza along with a side of fried mozzarella bites. The pizza was delicious—we easily finished the whole thing between the two of us after a long day exploring Hakone. The mozzarella bites, however, were a bit disappointing as they arrived lukewarm; we would’ve preferred them hotter. Unfortunately, the service felt just as lukewarm. Overall, it was still an enjoyable meal, but if given the chance, I’d probably try a different restaurant next time.

We had dinner here and it was just about the only place open in the evening. The restaurant has a nice view of Lake Ashi and the ambience is modern and inviting. Service was very good from the staff who spoke English. We ordered pizzas and pasta. The pizza was soft and delicious. Prices were reasonable when considering the high quality of food. An interesting place with a wonderful view. The cappuccino is delicious and well prepared. The coffee and chocolate cake is delicious and you can add a sort of ice cream which is delicious as well! I recommend!

You can’t ask for more in a remote place half way between Hakone Yumoto and Gora. Amazing views, good food, best in class Japanese service and a super dedicated owner who is keeping the legacy of Naraya brand. It’s not very common for caffe’s in Japan to have kids play area, this place have multiple kids play areas and also a small library for reading books. Foot bath/onsen is also a nice attraction…and of course the coffee is one of the best in the area. It is right outside the train station and accessible with baby car…although you cannot move baby car inside.

Incredibly great café. In addition to good coffee and cake, it also offers the option of enjoying a foot bath while eating. It also has a great view and there are special areas with toys for children. There's also a sauna area, but I didn't visit it. You should inform in advance if you want to use it. Bathing suits are apparently required.

Not a lot of very interesting or filling snack options, but the atmosphere of the cafe, the connected art gallery, and the wonderful hot foot baths are all great! We enjoyed a beer and an ice cream, but the best part was soaking our tired feet in the complimentary hot baths. What a lovely surprise!

The hotel is situated in a gorgeous location overlooking lake Ashi wity pirate ships cruising the lake to the ropeway (cable car). Lovely views of the lake, large and comfortable rooms. What let’s them down are the food options - dinner portions are absolutely tiny, not particularly tasty and very expensive, so not a great combination. Also, very limited dining options nearby - more for lunch but hardly anything in the evening

We spent two nights at the Hakone Hotel and recommend it highly. The location is excellent, lake-side with beatiful views of the surrounding mountains and Mt.Fugi on clear days (we were lucky). The hotel staff is extremely helpful and attentive. Our room was quite large (38m) and well-appointed, though a bit dated. The onsen was lovely. There’s a bus stop at the hotel’s entrance and we found it convenient to the activities and museums on our itinerary. If you’re not interested in eating at the hotel’s restaurants, there are several small places to eat within walking distance.

The location is very scenic, right off of lake ashi. There are restaurants close by. The onsen is very nice. However the rooms are very outdated, and most notably, the hotel controls the AC level, you cannot adjust it. If you are an American and like air conditioning, this isn't a good option for you.

Absolutely beautiful location and staff members are all super courteous and polite and welcoming. Our top-floor room had stunning views and very comfy bed, and was perfectly quiet at night. Two (smallish) things that make this a 4-star rating rather than a 5-star are a) the shower, which is just a bath-attachment with curtain, and tricky to get in and out of; and b) the breakfast buffet, which is a bit on the stingy side, with limited options. That aside, I highly recommend a stay here.

Hakone truly felt like a treasure trove of experiences, and for me, it represented the highpoint, highlight, and even a source of anticipation during my 30-day journey through Japan. My itinerary was carefully crafted to encompass the iconic views of Mount Fuji, the unique volcanic landscape of Owakudani (complete with its famed volcano eggs), a scenic ride on the Odakyu Romancecar, the artistic wonders of the Open-Air Museum, and the serene beauty of Hakone Jinja's Peace Torii Gate. Our arrival at the Hakone Hotel was made especially welcoming by Cheong-san, who thoughtfully ensured we were well-oriented with the hotel's surroundings and the fabulous Onsen facilities, which my wife thoroughly enjoyed. Even on the morning of our departure, the hotel staff went above and beyond; the senior Security Officer kindly facilitated my early 5 am departure to photograph the Torii Gate and was there to greet me with a warm smile upon my 6 am return.

Not that great at all for 350¥. Average icy ice-cream with very faint coffee flavor. The black ice cream I had at Owakudani was much better for only 50¥ more.

Bought their coffee drink instead of soft serve. Taste average, but enjoy the beans aroma out from the shop. Dont understand why they do not help to throw your paper cup (take out coffee) even if you finish on the spot right infront their shop.

Average Coffee Ice Cream. It is actually iced coffee in smaller shreds with some milk. They also sell some green beans and filter coffee on the go pack inside. Small shop. Cash only.

Really lovely experience. We had booked in for a private onsen experience and saw that they had a restaurant. We hadn't booked a table but there was lots of room when we arrived (around 3pm) It was a really unique and lovely experience. I queried regarding the broth to see if it was suitable for a pescatarian diet, the member of staff asked the chef to double check which was really appreciated. It was easy to order and there were lots of choices. My husband tried the sausages which he liked and he also enjoyed his Donburi. A great experience before visiting the onsen.

We ordered set menus and the food was really good. You can try all the specials they have. The price was a little bit high though. The restaurant is part of the hot springs park and you can tell the counter that you just want a meal. You can also try their hot springs if you have free time. Shuttle buses are available between the train station and the restaurant with free of charge.

The onsen is lovely and comfortable. The food is very delicious with reasonable price. We love the local beef. Very fresh and tender. Highly recommended

After the onsen session, we decided to have our new year eve dinner here. We had the Irori course and it was a wonderful culinary experience. The service was excellent and there was English instructions on how to enjoy the meal. Highly recommended for visitors to have a meal there after the onsen session.

Food is a but expensive but quite tasty. Options to grill food yourself or just have a pre-cooked set. I opted for a tempura set with sashimi, as well as a fish skewer. Flavors were pleasant with the fish skewer being the best. Service was quick and responsive. Good experience overall.

This was an amazing experience for me and my family. Ordered online with different language options and a wide variety of foods to choose from. Had a children’s menu which was a good portion for my child. I do recommend the beef udon noodles which is what I have had. They also have a onsen and a nearby forest adventure park. Would definitely come here again.

We ate here after the onsen. The salted squid which is an option when you get the beer appetiser set wasn’t to our taste but the cold soba noodles with the assorted tempura was delicious.

I will not lie to you, their picture of their cute train shaped pound cake drew me in. I was also looking for good coffee. Not the type of coffee that came out of a machine or a mix, I wanted real coffee with descriptions of where it came from, and roasting profiles. Other than the adorable pound cake that drew me in, the complete place is just cute, something you'd see out of a book. The serving spoons are cute, the cup and saucer used were very soothing. the place was decorated for full cuteness. We got a matcha smoothie, which was very refreshing, especially for being almost 90f outside. I ordered a black coffee, it was roasted to full city, it was very balanced, and smooth, it's of good quality. The train pound cake was not only cute but it was also tasty. An older lady waited on us, she was very sweet, and was attentive. If I'm ever back in the Hakone area I would absolutely stop by Studio Cage Shima.

Absolutely delicious, I was unsure if the cakes might be a gimmick at first but they taste delicious and don't compromise flavor for their cute appearance. The drinks I had were very refreshing and service was prompt. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy.

I was here on 27 Nov evening. It was a very small family cafe with only 3 to 4 tables. Every single person need to order at least one drink here. If you have 4 person, you cannot order 3 drinks. I had cafe latte which was a total disappointment. See the photo. Cafe latte supposed to come with milk foam. But mine was just like coffee with milk or flat white. My friends had the Hojicha latte. Another disappointment. Only can taste the milk and no Hojicha taste. I am not sure if other patrons experienced the same quality drinks. And the price is not cheap. My one Star is for their coffee and latte.

Cute spot in Gora and one of the only to take card, it seems. Also appears to be full of tourists! Really glad they are now open for dinner and super enjoyed their 5-piece appetizer plate and taco rice. Flavors great and presentation excellent! Had high hopes for their coffee the next morning and it was not good. Both the espresso and pour over were dark and bitter; needed milk to make it drinkable, which was a bummer. Definitely more of a coffee and milk shop than straight pour over/espresso. Service great, atmosphere great, food great, prices great. Would go again for food! Would not suggest coffee if you are hoping for the good coffee you might have experienced elsewhere in Japan.

A nice place, offering excellent espresso. Apparently they have their own roastery. They offer food too, all nicely made and western style. The only drawback seems to be the popularity of this place. So you might have to draw a number and wait patiently, half an hour for us.

It is probably easier to walk here rather than driving as the place doesn't provide a parking lot. Totally recommend the egg on egg and tiramisu. The interior has a relaxing ambience and overall a comfortable experience.

This one is a solid 3.5. The service was great and the servers were very accommodating even when we had a large party with kids. The coffee was pretty good however the food was only decent. The selection was pretty limited and they only had very basic items. That being said, this is a coffee shop so in the end the drinks and service/atmosphere triumph the food in ratings. Very cool coffee shop to visit if you are in Hakone!

There was area inside the shop for dine-in. Had to wait about 15 minutes to order. Their pistachio one is good. Thick consistency, yet creamy. The quatro formaggi is a bit too mild.

The cone was crispy but lacked the buttery aroma I’d hoped for, so it didn’t quite match the croissant vibe I expected. The gelato itself is on the pricier side, with premium flavors requiring a top-up, making my single scoop ¥920 Additionally, there are only standing seats for dining in, so it’s more of a quick stop than a sit-down experience. Overall, it's worth a try for the gelato quality, but I’d recommend opting for the regular cone next time.

Such a surprising gem. Came on a weekday when there was barely a line. Dining in is an option here - rather charming space with fast jazz piano music and bottles of liquor at about ¥1,200-¥1,600 a shot. Almost all their flavours require add-on. I believe everything is made in-house. Note they only accept cash. Wasn’t a queue here probably as it was a weekday (reading other reviews it can be crowded).

Amazing ice cream! everyone was so nice, spoke good English, and the gelato was delicious, I highly recommend the fig and pistacchio but the four cheese was also very good maybe not for everyone's taste but very creamy. You could tell that they put lots of effort into everything they make there!

I’ve passed by this place on my way to Hakone Shrine. We have tried different flavours of the ice cream sandwich, the matcha flavour tastes absolutely amazing! I’ve also ordered the honey butter ice cream soft serve, it tastes like salty butter beer which is so good. The signature biscuit is nice, really match with the ice cream (*´∇｀*) Appreciate the staffs a lot. There were around 10 customers in the shop by the time they almost close, they still served everyone friendly and with a smile!

I got the milk and butter soft cream and wow, simple is besto, as they say here. Very subtle taste of butter(?) and super creamy. Definitely recommended as a quick snack before the bus! Bonus points because the ladies working which you can look at through the outside window were super nice, laughing and waving goodbye.

The most charming, memorable, and pleasant experience! Hosted in an unassuming airstream, the owner is so kind and hospitable. His space was cozy and welcoming. The ham and cheese toasty hit the spot and the pour over coffee was perfect. The moca was perfect - well mixed, no sediment at the bottom, and a good balance of coffee / cocoa flavor.

Although I spent just fifteen minutes here, it was one of the most memorable moments of my trip. I stumbled across the cafe on the way to the open air museum. The host was warm and welcoming, and talking to the other customers. I enjoyed watching him make the coffee from scratch right in front of me. Most importantly, blend 3 was delicious strong. I had a biscoff biscuit to take the edge off. For the rest of the day, my mind felt clear and at ease. I have not had coffee like this before. On my way back, I saw the host walking on the street, and he waved at me. I will not forgot this experience.

Came here for late lunch without a reservation. Tables were available and were welcomed in. The food was great and most options include a drink, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The food arrived quickly and the service was friendly and prompt. Very pet friendly with plenty of people bringing their dogs with them. There also is a friendly restaurant cat who roams around, probably fed a lot of chicken judging by its size! Would very happily eat here again.

We came to this place because it was one of the few places that looked good opening at 11:00am. We were the first ones in and it got a bit busy but nothing too crazy after a while. The food was flavorful and it was good. We paid $47 dollars for four meals and 3 cokes. The only downside is that the portions are very small. Almost like a kids meal in the U.S. So if you’re really hungry think about going here twice. We were satisfied but not full. The staff were really nice and welcoming. They allow pets and the environment is really chill. Overall, I’d skip next time.

This cozy cafe near Lake Ashi offers a limited menu,featuring perfectly fried, light-battered karaage chicken and flavorful mild curry. The curry had that familiar savory and slightly sweet flavor, quite similar to the brand Golden Curry. The friendly owner adds to the welcoming atmosphere. Just a heads-up, there's a single restroom.

This restaurant serves a few excellent dishes of fried chicken nuggets. The curry is also great. Menu is not very varied and quantity is not big so I think for the price you pay you might still be a bit hungry afterwards, or maybe that was just me :)

This is a dog friendly store, so you will see dogs. The food was great. We got the Chicken Karaage Curry plate. Despite the curry being advertised as chicken and mushrooms, it tasted a lot like your standard pork curry (a good thing, for taste familiarity). It came with some vegetables for that dietary fiber (you know you need it). My wife was uncertain but ended up loving it. French fries were good too.

We came across this restaurant and had the best chicken Karaage ever. It was juicy and came with cream cheese. The curry set was also tasty. The best part is being pet friendly, and we saw many well behaved dogs. Also pet plate with different variety of meats can be ordered.

Located at a noticeable place inside the Hakone station. Great place to grab a quick bite. You can choose your favorite snack from the elaborate spread and serve yourself after paying. This provides flexibility in the quantity and type of snack you want to eat. The staff are helpful. The snacks are fresh and delicious. The onion rings fried chicken balls are a local favourite. The crowd is trendy. However the French fries under the fried chicken are not crispy. The restrooms are very unhygienic.

Lovely cafe in the station premises, with freshly made bread and coffee. We love the crispy croquette and melon pan bun! Highly recommend this cafe for a quiet place to rest before getting on the trains for your journey.

I understand Hakone is a small town but quite disappointed with our experience. We ordered Mocha and I was served Latte than I went back to the male waiter and said I ordered Mocha he apologised the said sorry it’s latte I’ll change BUT the female waitress shouted its “Cafe Mocha”.......... Hmm, how would she know without seeing it? Anyway, not a pleasant experience at all. Wouldn’t be going back there for sure.

They have a really nice offer "Breakfast set" with a big sandwich, big coffe and a small yoghurt for a cheap price. Tasted good and it was very clean place with friendly staff!

Little tucked away coffee and lunch shop. We stopped in after wandering and waiting for our room to be ready at a nearby hotel. Very affordable and an amazing curry lunch. The lady's working there were extremely friendly and helpful and gave us great advise and spoke about the area with us. Turned an unexpected lull in the trip into one of the nicest unexpected stops we had.

I have been here twice now on two trips and every time I am served with a huge smile and delicious tasting food. My personal favorite is the bread with the egg in the middle. Megumi is extremely nice and it is a very quiet and beautiful spot both inside the shop, and outside.

Me & my wife experienced this place for the first time as we were staying Hakone overnight on our two week trip in Japan for our honeymoon. With my wife being a vegetarian, food options can be very difficult so I found the menu online beforehand and this place had a lot of options. The food, shakes and sides we ordered (see pictures of some attached) were all delicious, including the burgers which were juicy. The staff were incredibly friendly and really added to the cost atmosphere. Only nitpicks really is I would have liked BBQ sauce to be served with the stellar onion rings and unless you wrap the bacon around the burger, it’s basically gone in one bite.

Overall solid burger. You can tell the ingredients were fresh. The amount of meat seemed little for the space of the bun and overall size of the burgers. We got the box burger and the bacon egg. For the two burgers with one side of fries and a soda with a ginger latte coffee we payed ¥7500. I don’t think this price was justified for the quality and size. I know we’re in the mountains so supply logistics must cost more but seems high. Due to this I’m happy to have tried it but likely would go again. The ginger latte coffee tasted like Christmas. Can tell it was made with a sweet syrup.

Just finished a meal here after a day of travelling and it was the perfect spot. The friendlist service and great food. Burger was juicy with lots of fresh salad and a great bun. Get the onion rings, 10/10. Good variety of beer on offer aswell. Only a very short walk from our hotel and well worth it.

Great burgers! Just a short walk from miyagino bus stop on the T bus line. Very helpful and warm staff. We got there right at time for last order and they were very accommodating. Good knowledge of gluten allergy (celiac) and explained that they do have a separate fryer, but it is next to their gluten fryer so there is some risk involved if you get something fried. Both the burger on a gluten free bun and the fried chicken sandwich were absolutely delicious and very filling. Stop here if you're hungry!

The price of coffee and a sandwich is quite expensive, but the sandwich was very tasty. The same coffee can be bought at a supermarket much cheaper. This is a cafe-restaurant located on the shore of Lake Ashinoko. The menu has many appetizing items with pictures, such as curry and seafood rice bowls, and it is hard to decide. There is also a set of dumplings and tea for dessert after dinner, which is very fun because you can bake the dumplings yourself and season them as you like.✨ The store is very spacious and clean, and the staff is very friendly, making it easy to spend time there. Comfortable resting place to have a quick bite and something to drink after arriving on train. Just above the taxi stand and across the train station. Crepe cake is very much recommended. Has a bit of a 60-70's Germany vibe to it. Not the cheapest place, but it makes up for that in atmosphere and quality.

Good coffee. Great view of the river and the valley in daytime. "Rare cheesecake" is actually mousse cake in Japan with spongecake on the bottom. Seating not super comfy. Prices are expensive, appx 600¥ for a coffee, 400¥ for a small piece of cake. Go for the views and because it's open later than most spots in the area.

Me and my two friends were stranded in gora hakone and found this gem of a restaurant. Its small but very cozy, warm and lovely. We had eight dishes in total including the bacon n veg pizza, seafood basil pizza and prosciutto salad pizza all are amazing. Best food we had in hakone it was truly surprising and memorable. A great little cafe around the corner of the station. Excellent drip coffee with a choice of 3-4 different coffee beans. They use massive slices of bread for the honey butter cinnamon toast which was really tasty. It's worth knowing although it's over 2 floors, the 2nd floor is for smokers only, and there's only 2 tables on the ground (1st) floor.

Some of the best cheesecake I’ve had in Japan. The cafe decor is so cute. It’s a great place to relax after walking around the shops.

The atmosphere when you walk in feels very hip and cool. The staff were very kind and welcoming. The cafe is cash only, so bring cash. There is an ATM around the corner at the convenience store if you need cash. We had the cheesecake and it was delicious. For hot coffee you can choose from 4 different flavours. We had the Hakone blend, which was mild and very tasty. The upstairs seating area has couches, tables and the free wifi makes it the perfect place to do some emails or work on the go. Love this place!

Stopped in while roaming around Hakone. We love mitarashi dango for its sweet and savoury contrast, so a mitarashi ice cream seemed like a slam dunk. Sadly, this was a bit mid-arashi, as the dango were obviously from the freezer (still had bits of ice on them!) and the ice cream was just OK. Easy ordering process and nice outdoor seating with Fuji view. Tasty but not worth a detour.

Nice little teahouse view views of My Fuji. Staff were friendly and you can get hot drinks, cold drinks or snacks. There's plenty of seating outside for you to enjoy Mt Fuji with your choice of snack.

Delicious, great price and a view that is hard to beat. The shop uses a vending machine with pictures, thus easy to navigate if you don’t know Japanese. Just choose what you want, put the money in (or use your IC card) and then give the ticket to the woman behind the counter. It was ready within minutes.

We ordered a bunch of things but I just came on here to rave on about their purin (Japanese creme caramel). It's made of onsen egg and it's perfectly lightly sweetened with the beautiful bitterness of the caramel bottom. We're only in Hakone for 3 days but I think I'll have to go back to have this again. I love purin and I often eat it while in Japan, but I have to say this was the best purin I've had so far!!

A retro style cafe. Their signature is “red bean paste”. They serve the red bean paste with ice cream, parfait and sticky rice cake ball. The staff is kind and friendly. There are several seats in the 1st floor but a bit small, so I recommend 2nd floor as it is quite spacious and more retro style.

My husband and I found this cafe while exploring this afternoon. As a huge Naruto fan, I was super excited to find a ninja cafe! The environment was fun and service was great. We ordered the fried rice and fried chicken. Both were really good! We loved the vibe of the entire cafe. I highly recommend visiting this cafe if you are a fan of ninjas and want a nice lunch while exploring Gora!

We really enjoyed ourselves at this small cafe in Gora. We went every day we were in Hakone and had great chats with the ninja. The food was great. The fries and karaage were delicious. We loved the shuriken throwing experience. We are really going to miss our chats with Ninja-san. The pancakes were adorable and tasty.

I was so happy when I walked past and saw that they had a small vegetarian menu. I immediately decided we would go there after the open air museum and we certainly don't regret that. I had the Japanese mushroom pasta which was fantastic and my partner had the seafood rice gratin. We were very happy with all of the food and it was also very cheap (less than £15 for both of us with salad, drink and dessert each)! Definitely recommend and also very nice cat decoration that made it very cosy. Welcoming staff too

A very cozy coffee shop in the heart of Hakone. It is about 2 minutes from the lake. An amazing refuge during snow or rain. The cappuccinos are refreshing here. It offers great views. The glass windows have lovely drawings. The best thing about this Cafe is the free WiFi. They offer table service and the staff are very hospitable.

Very cute place and worth a visit especially because you probably walk by there from the Hakone Shrine. Staff was very friendly and the coffee was better than many other places I've tried in Japan. Desserts were also nice and the smoothies really refreshing.

We came upon this unique, quaint modern restaurant on a recent stay in Hakone. The food was incredible and easy to order using the QR code. The cobb salad was out of this world, as was the burger with crisp delicious fries. We had dinner here two nights in a row, it was so amazing. The first night, we finished our meal by sharing the basque cheesecake, but on the second night, we order one each! The music playing in the restaurant was subtle and very interesting!

TL;DR - Good food, prices aren't expensive, easy to order, fantastic design. The smash burger was fantastically seared, the salad was fresh, and the ragu was flavorful. The overall experience was great and we would come here again. The 2 pain points for me were in the burger - The bun was toasted and not seared, so it was hard instead of soft and crispy, which caused the burger to slide out with every bite. And the burger's sauce was too overpowering. If they had a smash burger with just cheese, it'd be better imo, and with a seared/untoasted bun, it'd be one of the best smash burgers I would have had probably.

While exploring the Hakone region it was time to find a place for a coffee and some lunch. We found this place and we are glad we did. They make some pretty amazing burgers and are definitely a must try if you're in the area. The cafe is well inviting and has a lovely upstairs dining area and is very modern. Isshikidousarou the sandwich restaurant served us the most amazing sandwiches I've ever had. With its classy ambience, I would not be surprised if they ever played Jazz live with a full house. Even the beverages are crisp and very refreshing. Sandwich in your hand and the view of the park through large windows is just out of this world.

We came to Japan from the UK so it was very nice to see an ‘afternoon tea’ style venue. However it is a bit expensive for what you get and we needed to pay an entry fee just to get into the park where this cafe is located. Not sure why we were placed there when there were other seats further inside. A blunder on the customer service part. Apart from this the customer service was actually very good.
