Mexican restaurant
Molly's La Casita is a well-established Mexican restaurant located in the heart of Midtown, Memphis. It has been a neighborhood institution for over 30 years and is known for its owner, Molly Gonzales. The food at Molly's is decent, with standout items like queso and bacon-wrapped stuffed shrimp. The restaurant offers updated menu options while still serving comforting favorites like Mr. Bruce's Nachos and half-and-half margaritas.
Wonderful! Hadn't been in 20 years, but was absolutely wonderful. Salsa was super fresh, had a light cumin taste. The highlight was easily the "Kelly's Bean Dip", totally different than most but excellent flavor. My dish was the 2 tamale lunch special, the chile gravy sauce is to die for and the white cheese is excellent. Also I can't recommend the Mexican Spinach enough! Absolute gem of a place, and has kept the taste I'd remembered in a way few can for decades. Budget wise, good deal too. Cheaper than plenty of bigger places; though as a comment steak and snapper are both to market price. Still, for the quality here? Absolutely worth it!

Awesome flavor and good prices. We got the chicken and steak fajitas. Cute little restaurant.

I loved it! The food was so delicious and filling. It had perfect flavor and just as a whole was amazing. The service was a little slow, but they were nice! Service being slow could be because they are short staffed maybe. Super nice and interior is so pretty!
Sandy V — Google review
We arrived about 7:15 on Thursday before Memorial Day. Things seemed a bit off. I am from outta town but visit often and Molly’s is a gotta go place! Patrons were backing up at the door with no Greeter. The restaurant was basically empty. Finally the crowd was noticed and we were seated. It took a minute but we were greeted by a wonderful server named Molly. She had been triple seated in the mayhem along with as 10 top she was servicing. She handled the challenge like a pro! We decided to order drinks and food all together to the some stress away from her duties. She never missed a beat. The orders were perfect. She checked on us with. Smile. Quesadillas were delicious and as always margaritas and beer hit the spot. The establishment does have a mandatory 20% gratuity added to the checks. Thanks Molly for making our night! A job well done!
Charlotte R — Google review
The food is great. The service is equally good. I love sitting outside on the back patio here because it's quiet and warm -- ya'll don't crash my party!
Rami D — Google review
I love Molly's. I came here for my 21st birthday, I brought my son for his 21st birthday a few years ago, and last night I stopped in for dinner to celebrate my 51st birthday. While I wouldn't necessarily call it authentic Mexican, it's home style and comforting. The salsa is tasty, the queso is creamy, and the staff are always welcoming. My go to dish is the mole-- again, it might not be the most authentic mole ever, but it's rich and delicious, and one of the first versions I ever tried, so it remains a favorite of mine. Last night, unfortunately, there was a party going on, and I think the kitchen got a little distracted. My son and I both ordered the T Man dinner, the Thursday special-- two cheese and onion enchiladas topped with mole sauce and two sides. I asked for refried beans and the spicy green beans; my son requested the green beans and the sauteed vegetables. When our meals came out, my impression was that they had been left under the salamander a little too long. The mole was cooked to dryness on top of the enchiladas, and I couldn't tell if my beans were green or refried. I will say that our meals weren't bad-- the sauteed mushrooms in my son's mixed vegetables were delicious, and the rest was flavorful enough-- it just wasn't my best Molly's experience ever. Was I mad about it? Nope. I ate and enjoyed it. Will I be back? Of course. Everyone is entitled to an off night. But I might just veer away from mole next time, and try something else from their nicely packed menu.

I e been going to Molly’s since she served out her back door. Used to live across the street, 42 years ago. Never a bad meal. Today I had the chicken tortilla soup, don’t know why it took so long. Amazing blend of spices. Best I’ve ever had. Pair it with a half-n-half and you can’t go wrong.
George L — Google review
One of my favorite restaurants in this part of town. I recommended Molly's to some out of town guests and blushed when I later learned that they witnessed a fight in the restaurant. How very Memphis! It speaks volumes that both my guests and my family shrugged it off and later returned for the sake of the overall experience.

Elena's Taco Shop is a laid-back taqueria that specializes in California-style Mexican cuisine, offering a variety of dishes such as fish tacos, burritos, and carne asada fries. The California burrito is a must-try, featuring carne asada and french fries as primary fillings. The restaurant prides itself on staying true to its SoCal roots by using fresh ingredients in every dish.
The actual restaurant may not look the nicest but it’s clean. they have the best breakfast burrito in town. Their other items, tacos, tortas, rolled tacos, carne asada fries, etc are all solid. Fresh salsa bar is 10/10
Brandon B — Google review
I really enjoy their street tacos but they don’t even offer carnitas for them, just chicken and beef. Definitely not authentic southern cali style.

I love this place. Reminds me of the Mexican Food I grew up on in San Diego California
Tiffany J — Google review
Only to go orders and Grab & Go. Still the same great food. Much better for your taco craving than Taco Bell and a much high level of service than what you get at the large chain places. Got shrimp tacos today, grilled.
John K — Google review
Absolutely wonderful! A very unassuming place. The grilled fish and shrimp tacos were absolutely amazing. Not over complicated, expensive, or flashy. VERY delicious! The service was kind, helpful, and quick. I would recommend to anyone. Went back for seconds!
Trey — Google review
Always a great taco fix! We had lunch here. It was not busy and the wait was not long at all. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed! Thank you Elena’s!
Sandra - — Google review
Sadness is my favorite taco changing. Sigh. We stop in to Elena’s every time we come through Memphis but this time it had changed. We ordered grilled shrimp tacos on flour tortillas. It’s now all cabbage and the “special sauce” is mayo. Yuck. The 3 shrimp in each taco were delicious eaten alone and dipped in the mild salsa. The tacos themselves were very disappointing though. And we had to try to eat them hunched over in the car. The dining room is closed. To top it all off, even though she read our order back to us correctly, we got one fewer taco then we asked for. I suspect Elena’s has new owners. Elena’s is not shining anymore.

Just stopped here for dinner ..amazing food and one of the best chilli rellenos we had. Loved service, they are very friendly
Anusha J — Google review
Quality is bad now. Used to be great, I ate there for almost a decade. Since like April or May 2025, they serve you fat instead of meat. We order the same thing for years - pork tacos. One order should be meat only, the other is meat with fresh onion and cilantro. Now, it’s just rubbery lard and no meat. Here are the pictures from tonight’s dinner (July 2025). See the rubber for yourself - that’s all fat. Disgusting rubber - awful texture. Look at the fat to meat ratio.
Rlh J — Google review
Had the beef tongue tacos. Granted that weren’t as good as Mi Mexico on Shelby but they’re still good. But the beef soup and chicken chimichanga…yesssss! I learned my lesson and took the soup home. Chimichanga was for my wife.
Tim S — Google review
I have frequented this Summer Avenue location many times over the past two decades, and it is easily one of the most consistent, authentic and affordable restaurants in the city. The photos I've included feature the Burrito lunch special. Along with being filling and delicious, the entire experience was under $15, even with a 50% tip. It would be hard to top this quality, quantity and price point in a full-service restaurant. Highly recommended.
Robbie H — Google review
Would give it 4- 5 stars, except the value and service was definitely not there. Payed $58 for 2 bean/veggie burritos and 1 bees. 1 agua fresco and a sprite.
J H — Google review
We went here for lunch. I had the lunch fajitas and my husband had the chimichanga. Both were freshly prepared and delicious. The service was quick and polite. Highly recommend!
Lorraine M — Google review
Out shopping and on the way home, Googled "Mexican" food on Summer Ave. Got several places, but we never heard of La Guadalapana, so we thought we'd give it a shot. My wife had the Burrito Dinner al pastor, and I had the Burrito Suiza Pollo. Beans are very thin and I barely could eat them. Rice was OK, though honestly, I'm not a big rice guy. My wife loved her Burrito. Mine was pretty good. They were pretty large so we each took half a burrito home. Service left something to be desired, virtually ignored, even at 2 30 and the place only 1/4 full. Every time someone entered the front door, the alarm sounded"front door open". I'm sure they do a good business. It's just not on my list of places to revisit.
Brian S — Google review
Greeted with a smile & were immediately seated. Cold beverages arrived before we were ready to order. The best Guacamole Mexicania was the perfect selection for us to review our dinner options. Wifey had grilled options and I stayed with traditional enchiladas & tamales. We were both satisfied and are looking forward to our next visit.

Restaurant
Las Tortugas Deli Mexicana is a modest cafe that offers authentic Mexican cuisine made with local ingredients. The setting is adorned with humorous posters and papers, and the owner, Pepe Magallenes, takes pride in serving un-Americanized Mexican food. The menu features tortas and tacos with an emphasis on fresh ingredients like avocado, cilantro, cotija cheese, sweet onions, and spiced cucumber salad. Traditional aguas frescas are also available to complement the flavorful dishes.
The food is 💯 authentic Mexico City Mexican food. The owner Pepe is knowledgeable and friendly. He ensures everything is fresh! They have 2 locations. Both are fantastic! You can't go wrong eating here!
Helena T — Google review
Went here right before my graduation and, clumsy me, spilt a full cup of Jamaica juice everywhere. Felt terrible, but immediately the sweetest staff jumped up, even a kind woman on her break. Encouraging me it was okay, cleaning after me, bringing me wet paper towels. Their kindness shaped my mood for the day, I hope I get the chance to see these amazing women again in next times I go☺️
Elizabeth — Google review
I love the sense of pride that the owner seems to have for this place. All of their accomplishments over the years cover the walls and give such a nice sense of confidence coming in to dine (for me, anyway!). We started with some chips and guacamole. The chips are on the thicker side and taste great! Excellent with the chunky guacamole. For mains, I had carne asada tacos, he had the mole chicken tacos. All of the little sauces that they gave us to have with them were unmatched. You're not doing it right if you don't use them. My only even remotely negative comment was that my carne asada didn't get slightly crispy like you would typically expect. It needed just a little longer in the pan. It was seasoned absolutely perfectly though and I still definitely left a satisfied customer!
Lauren E — Google review
I’ve been eating las tortugas my entire life. The chicken timga tacos are my favorite ever. Only thing I recently am not a fan of is the music that’s been playing from the tv that has an eerie almost siren like sound. Thank you Las Tortugas you are the best !
Michael T — Google review
Nice place, but to overpriced for what they serve. Food was mid, we order 3 different plates nothing really stand out, had a orchata drink that tasted nasty couldn't finish it. Not worth it
Itz's M — Google review
We had a great visit to Las Tortugas and appreciated the effort and time Pepe put into explain the menu and what his restaurant was all about. Pepe for President!! super nice and friendly guy. The food was fresh tasting and nicely prepared. Sure a little on the pricey side, but like Pepe said "you are going to say two things..oh it cost to much and then later you will drop money off in the tip jar saying oh this was so cheap for what we got and here is a tip!" We got the street corn and 100% recommend that. Also got some steak tacos and shrimp tacos. Not really sure we ordered off the menu. He just said let me know what you like and I will make you something you will love. Also get the Mango and Lemon drinks. I highly recommend those as well! we topped it all off with the fried cheese and unfortunately we were not a fan of it. great presentation and it had some nice spices on it but not a fan of the hard crisp texture. $10 was also a bit on the high side and I would say it was more of a cheese crisp then fried soft cheese we were exception. but maybe more of an expectation then anything at all. I think they would go good on a salad all crumbled up. Pepe- 5 stars Food- 3 1/2 stars
Michael D — Google review
Excellent, tasty, fresh Mexican food, friendly service, and a clean, modern space. The fresh guava limonada was a treat! A bit pricey, but worth it. Make sure to look for the daily specials before you order!
Alisa O — Google review
Tried multiple dishes and all were good, especially liked the flautas. More authentic than most places I’ve had in the Memphis area. A little more expensive than you would expect but don’t let that keep you away, you’re getting better Mexican food than most other local places.

Restaurant
Las Delicias is a casual Mexican eatery located in a strip mall at 4002 Park Ave, Memphis, TN. The restaurant offers traditional Mexican dishes with a focus on housemade tortillas and guacamole. While the decor may be basic, the real draw here is the food.
Came here with my Mother for lunch the other day, and there was zero wait. I brought my 13 month old with me, and the host who seated us graciously set up a high chair for us. The table we were seated at was diagonally in the corner, so it was a little tight getting in and out. The service was awesome and the food was awesome - I ordered the steak burrito and Mom got the chicken flautas. Portion sizes were smaller than usual, but it was still tasty, fresh, and filling and came out super fast. Our drinks were never empty, and the bill was less than $30 for two meals, a guac appetizer, and a basket of freshly made chips and salsa!
Erica S — Google review
I had the steak and pastor burrito and guacamole. Both were very delicious. Their homemade chips are good as well. The atmosphere could use a bit of work. Perhaps some compeling art and music playing would be nice. The server was polite, although he seemed a bit uncomfortable addressing me. Overall, a pretty decent experience.
Issa E — Google review
Came for lunch with a buddy. My first time, but I had read many good reviews. When I suggested it, he confirmed that it was a favorite of his. We had chunky guacamole, homemade chips and fish tacos. All delicious. Lives up to its name.
Wade S — Google review
Came here for lunch with a coworker (Sept 11) and we were seated immediately (it was after the lunch rush). I ordered the Tortilla Soup (tortilla strips on the side) and 2 chicken tacos. The tacos were good once I added the 2 different sauces on top but the chicken was a little dry. I didn’t finish the soup as it wasn’t that good with a lot of cheese mixed in it. I definitely wouldn’t order that again. The chips and salsa was good, though! Our waiter, Juan, was rude and we had to ask for refills on the chip and salsa, etc. My coworker raved about this place because of a particular waitress makes it memorable but this time she wasn’t there and it simply was a BUST.
Ashley S — Google review
I have ordered steak tacos from them twice on Uber eats. Always so excited to get my food. And DISAPPOINTED every time with NO TOPPINGS as described in the details on uber eats. Waste of money. Plain steak on a tortilla. No cilantro, and no onions. EVERY TIME!
A W — Google review
Me and some friends came out to this location we ordered don Julio and boy oh boy they charged us for it but it definitely wasn't that it had to be some of the cheapest tequila in that damn place we asked our waitress to get the manager he said it was don Julio I told him sir it's definitely not Don I wasn't even gonna argue with him because I know how my liquor taste when you go to the establishment be aware they don't give you what you ask for they can not continue to treat us like this when we spending our money in there last time ever visiting this place !

Food was great felt really authentic everything was fresh and quality. Service was a bit slow but that was given seemed to only be one of her. Atmosphere was great the background music mixed with the subtle silence

Inside the building is very dated. We were seated as a party of four at a small table placed against the wall. We had to move our table away from the wall to make space for ourselves and the other customers. The food was too salty. Chips were hard. Salsa was boring.

Boscos Squared, situated in the heart of Overton Square, Memphis, is a haven for beer enthusiasts and foodies alike. This establishment prides itself on brewing its own craft beers in-house, offering a unique selection of cask-conditioned microbrews that perfectly complement their renowned wood-fired pizzas. Guests can also indulge in delectable brunch options while enjoying live jazz and R&B performances by local artists like Joyce Cobb.
A dinner stop on our southern US tour. I had a spectacular salmon entree with whipped potatoes and asparagus, my better half ordered a very well prepared New York steak. Salads were fresh, and I heard compliments about the tomato bisque soup. While dining we also had beer tastings, lager and ale, and those were excellent. A piece of creamy cheesecake ended the meal. Superb food, great service, bit of a noisy atmosphere, but that's understandable as it's a hoppin' casual place.

Good overall value. Good atmosphere on the Square in Memphis, the food was good— not great but it was good. We ordered the Apple Crisp for dessert and everyone enjoyed it. We also ordered the fried green tomatoes. There was more breading than tomato but did have flavor. Overall experience was just okay.
Kimberly B — Google review
Boscos Squared in Midtown Memphis is on point for anyone who is looking for good food in decent portions and craft beer in a relaxed, stylish setting. The atmosphere is lively but comfortable, perfect for date nights, casual dinners, or brunch with friends. Their wood-fired pizzas are a standout, and the beer—brewed in-house—is always fresh and flavorful. Service is attentive without being overbearing, and the menu offers a good mix of Southern-inspired dishes and pub favorites. The outdoor patio is a great spot when the weather’s nice, adding to the laid-back vibe. Whether you're a local or just visiting Memphis, Boscos delivers a consistently enjoyable experience. Don’t miss their seasonal beers and weekend specials—they make every visit feel a little different. Highly recommended! We would definitely return.

Outstanding place! The bar scene is fun. Different faces make me so happy to be at this place. Nice indoor space, didn't notice if they had outdoor space. The staff friendly. The food is good. Definitely would recommend.

Last time I ate here was in 2019. This visit was somewhat disappointing. The top-shelf margarita was really good! The stuffed mushrooms were delicious! The blackened red snapper was super dry. I’ve never eaten tough fish! The garlic mashed potatoes were very light and fluffy, however I did not taste any hint of garlic! The server was not interested in being our server! I did enjoy the patio ambiance though………

I think the manager name was Sage but anyway he was a great help to me. I left my credit card at the restaurant. He made sure it was put up and made sure I got it back and I really appreciate that. It’s so much stuff going on in the world and it just felt good to be going to a restaurant where the management cares about their customers enough to put up their belongings for them. I really appreciate him. Great guy great vibe great energy great food can’t wait to go back and ask for him or at least the speak or something. I’m just thankful I didn’t have to go out of town tomorrow morning without a credit card. also, my food is great. Every time I go to this restaurant.

The beer was good, even though I’m not a beer lover person. The inside was cozy, and laid back- perfect for a date or a dinner with friends. Usually breweries don’t have good food, while this place is so different. Their restaurant is terrific. We started with some shrimp appetizer- it’s actually like Spanish gambas Al Ajillo although their name on the menu was different - wood oven shrimp. I can’t recommend enough. They serve the shrimp in a spicy oil with some bread. Don’t forget to dip the bread in the oil - it’s in the next level. Totally 10/10. Next I got a blackened catfish dish for the main course which was pretty decent too. My other friends were also quite happy with their dinner entrees. We finished the meal with a brownie and ice cream. It was also pretty decent, however nothing over the top. If you are here try their beer and wood oven shrimp. Thank me later :)

Maciel's tortas & tacos is a family-owned spot in downtown Memphis that serves up made-to-order Mexican delicacies. The menu features an array of options, including the sublime chicken chipotle soup known as Caldo Tlalpeno and flavorful beef consomme. This casual eatery offers a variety of dishes such as spicy shrimp tacos and enormous tortas. With its fresh and authentic street food, Maciel's has become a standout choice for Latin cuisine in Memphis.
Ended up stopping in here due to another place being closed and I am glad we did. Everything we got was fantastic. I loved the hot sauce. I ended up not liking the Tajín but would definitely get the corn again just without. Staff was nice and was welcomed when we walked it. Has an open kitchen and I love that you can see them cook.

No wonder this place has great reviews. The staff are so nice and welcoming and the food is incredible. Small place on the main drag of Memphis, I believe this is their second location. We were walking by and saw a constant flow of people grabbing food here so we gave it a shot. The street tacos were great and loved the sauce that came with. Got the quesadilla to share and that is more than enough food for one or even two. You order at the counter can dine in or take out. Lots of mobile orders coming in too. They also have outdoor seating in the shade. The menu online said they have lengua but it is only available at the other location. Not to worry, Highly recommend this taco place.

This place is your grab and sit or grab and go spot! Good food but my only comment, the meat gets overcooked. I ordered three tacos: chicken, steak, and shrimp. Shrimp was good but the meats were in smaller sizes which ends up overcooking the meat and you can taste the dryness. Now the guacamole was outstanding!!! First thing I noticed were the chunks of avocado but then it was time to taste and this was amazing!!! You can eat this alone with chips and you are full! I would go back for the guacamole. Guacamole is Valdi approved and definitely a 5 star. Ambience was normal, nothing crazy.

We stopped in for lunch. Recommended by an AutoZone employee who heard us debating about where to grab a bite to eat (Thanks guy!!) The food is delicious!! Fast friendly service and a great atmosphere!! Great prices with perfect portions. One of the best Mexican restaurants that I have been to. Definitely on my list of favs!! CHECK THEM OUT!!

I had 3 tacos. They were good. The Birria with cheese was my favorite. The young lady that took my order was very pleasant. I also ordered the chips and guacamole. I will not order that again. I was surprised at the way they served it (see pic). I could have looked past it had it tasted better. The chips were not the best either. Yes, I would go there again.

YUM! YUM! YUM!! It was so good I’m almost at a loss for words. We are traveling through and stayed nearby and decided to give this place a try. So glad we did!! Some of the best Mexican food we’ve EVER had!! I wish we had this local to us back home! You’ve gotta eat here!

Great atmosphere. This restaurant is situated in the main street and sitting by the window on the second floor gives nice views of the main street and the tram line with passing trams/ trolleys. The food was also good. It was tasty and the portion sizes were good. Service, IMO, was average.

The menu offers a wide variety of flavors, including unique options like corn, Mexican cake, chili mango, and pistachio. The paletas are filled with chunks of fruit and come in both water and cream-based varieties.
Wow! We visited here at the suggestion of a friend. I felt like a tourist! I didn’t know where to look first! Lots of choices and, based on the comments from the other people, it’s all great! And not just your run of the mill flavors - key lime pie, coconut, pistachio (full of nuts), pineapple, mango, watermelon, etc. lots of choices. Can’t wait to find one where I live!

Came in for the first time with my significant other and we stood there for a while before we were helped. When we walked up the First Lady asked what we wanted and I told her we were unsure at the time since it was our first time. I suppose since we weren’t Hispanic we couldn’t understand them, but the First Lady said that she didn’t want to serve us. There was then another that came to help us immediately after and asked if we were ready. I let them know we still needed a little bit of time, and she said the same thing. If your not Hispanic it feels as if your not welcome. Will not be going back

Picture this: When you first walk in, it feels sparse and open, but clean. In front of you, the menus are brightly lit, showcasing the items listed in both English and Spanish. Prices are so low, you can't help but wonder if quantities are a lot smaller than depicted. Two girls up front chatter in Spanish with each other, but greet you in English when you approach. You act indecisive, because you know that means you can get free samples, and then you order. There is no wait; you get your food as soon as you order, and it looks exactly like the pictures. It tasts even better, and you wonder why you ever go for ice cream anywhere else.

First time visit on a Monday evening . Being allowed to taste the ice cream first was definitely a bonus! Thick ice cream with interesting flavors. Definitely recommend!

Took my wife for a evening ice cream. Careful they close a bit early. Huge wide open space for eating inside. I had the Chamoyadas it is a 16 oz cup of natural mango w a sour mild Tangy recipe. I had it how ever they fix it. The tangy stuff was not bad, but more tangy than I enjoyed. Once I poured out the sauce it was delicious. Next time I'll just get a natural fruit popcicle. Plenty of other customers were enjoying the thing I ordered. Don't let me deter you from ordering it. Noticed they sell nachos in addition to all the ice cream and fruit dessert stuff. I'll try those next visit.

The food and service were phenomenal and we will be back! My son and I made a last minute decision to try Swanky’s for the first time in between band and basketball practice. The owner/manager and staff very helpful and kind, especially Jaun. They recommended the crawfish tacos and quesadillas, so we tried it, and we are so glad that we did. One word, DELICIOUS!

This place is similar to Chipotle but quality is prob better. (I'm not a fan of Chipotle). I got the veggie bowl. The refried beans have no lard. They also have black beans though. The sautéed veggies are great (zucchini, peppers, etc). I liked the green sauce (medium) and the spicy red sauce. The queso is Banging! Great tasting Guac. Food looked clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall highly recommend specially for vegetarians. You can do burrito, bowls, tacos, nachos. So many options.

Thoroughly enjoyed my early dinner here. The staff were all so accommodating and kind, especially Mattie! (Sp?) My meal (tacos al carbon) was served quickly and it exceeded expectations. The drink (jalapeno margarita) was delicious and they made sure I had everything I needed. The patio and restrooms were very clean. As pleasant an experience as you can ask for!

Enjoyed my sister's birthday dinner; lots of laughter, drinks and food. My order included the Eggrolls (which were delicious); Street Tacos (which were not delicious: tortillas fell apart upon first touch, meat was rubbery, the rice was hard); and Pineapple Tequila Sunrise (very delicious). The Raspberry Margarita (photo below) was also a pleasant delight.

They will serve you unedible food and refuse to refund the food item even tho not a single part was edible. We ordered horchata and served us a cup with rice crumbs and no type of liquid. There was literally only crumbs and ice Noo type of liquid to suck from the straw. They also messed up our order and left one of our guests without food until we reminded them about the guests food not being brought out

Global Café, located in Crosstown Concourse, offers a diverse range of international cuisine from various regions such as Sudan and North Africa. The Sudanese section of the café features dishes like African peanut soup, dama with rous, and sambusa, while the North African part serves basbousa for dessert. The café's mission is to introduce the community to the culinary and cultural heritage of refugee and immigrant communities in Memphis.
A friend recommended Global Cafe for lunch, and I’m so glad she did! It’s such a lovely spot with a relaxed atmosphere and great service. When you walk in, you place your order at the counter, then find a seat—either inside or outside—and they’ll bring your food to you. I ordered the chicken tacos paired with a fresh margarita to top if off. The food was flavorful and the margarita hit the spot. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu - I'm really curious to try the quesadillas! Overall, Global Cafe offers great food, a great chill vibe, and a solid dining experience. Absolutely worth a visit.

Delicious food and excellent service. It's very busy, so there's a line to order. I tried to order from the table using a QR code, but it was difficult. Highly recommended!
Eliza V — Google review
I’ve been coming to Global Cafe since they opened and it’s always been a favorite. The food usually never disappoints, and I love the variety of global cuisines. Recently, the food has been inconsistent and disappointing unfortunately. I took my mom out for dinner and she chose the Thupka and I ordered the Plantain Soup. The Thupka was way too spicy for her (she was frustrated because nowhere on the menu does it indicate that it’s spicy), and the meat was missing, so I gave her my Plantain Soup and boxed the Thupka to bring home to my partner and decided to order another Plantain Soup for myself. The first bowl of soup was overflowing with chicken and yucca root but didn’t have a single piece of plantain in it…the second bowl of soup had chicken, and not a single piece of yucca root - there were two pieces of plantain in the soup. Just a bit frustrating for the soups to be so inconsistent, in the span of 10 minutes. I’ve noticed in the past that dishes usually always come out a bit different than the time before, but to not have plantain in a soup when it’s the main event feels kind of silly. The service was also a bit disappointing compared to how it usually is - we had to ask for a box multiple times and at one point one of the staff took my mojito before I was finished drinking it. I will keep going to Global and supporting of course! Just some food for thought.

A group of friends and I travelled to Memphis for a little day trip, and one of them requested that we go to Global Cafe, their favorite restaurant in Memphis. They are gluten free, and so we went knowing that there would at least be food available for them. I ordered the Fajita de Pollo Wrap, my friend got the Asado Bowl, and my other two friends got the Chicken Shawarma and Street Tacos. We decided to eat outside as it was a good day out, but the inside is a vibe too. Definitely a cafeteria type vibe, which is great for meeting new people and of course experiencing different cultures together(hence the name). I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this cafe. Our food came, and all of my friends' food looked amazing. Mine looked a little lack luster, but I tried not to judge a book by its cover. I took one bite of my wrap and really wasn't that impressed. My chicken was dry, and the chips and salsa that came with it were pretty bland, only spicy. I did enjoy the street tacos, but the chicken in the Shawarma also tasted pretty dry. We needed to add a lot of sauce to make it better. My friend's asado bowl looked pretty good and of course they ate all of it, so I'm not sure on the taste of that, but it might be the only good thing that came out of our four orders, in my opinion. Our service was helpful, and so I can't necessarily blame them for the food. Overall, it wasn't necessarily a bad experience, but the food, to me, isn't all that great.

Wonderful food and great service! We went for the deals on taco Tuesday! We had pollo guisado and carnitas tacos and you cannot leave without having the cheese and potato empanadas! The margaritas were delicious, strong and flavorful. Even with a line, food came out in a timely manner and the staff is very friendly.

Great, multi-ethnic restaurant located in Crosstown Concourse. They offer foods from several different countries within this venue. Although I cannot speak on the authenticity of the dishes, the food and flavor of what I had was absolutely excellent. I ordered the hummus and pita as an appetizer. I will say I am not used to having cumin added to my hummus but it was a nice twist on a good dish and I was pleasantly surprised. As may main dish I ordered the kuku paka, which is a Kenyan curry with chicken in it. It was a very good dish and the portion size was very big. There were several other dishes on the menu that I want to try so I will definitely visit again to eat at this wonderful establishment.

Great street tacos. Very authentic. Type of place you'd find in any neighborhood in Los Angeles. The Al Pastor is my favorite. The carne asada is cooked right and not chewy. The carnitas are juicy and flavorful. Corn tortillas are doubled up just right. I'll revisit this place for sure. The lady that works the counter was very friendly and knew all about their menu. It's a little mom & pop taco shop.

Great tacos, but ownership doesn't post up prices. The check amount can feel like highway robbery at times. I don't know of any other establishment who operates this way.

I've driven by this place multiple times and always wanted to try out the location. I looked at the reviews and wanted to try it out, I've been to the other surrounding Mexican restaurants and enjoyed the other locations. I give up coming here because they are always CLOSED, whenever I arrive. Even if I see people inside, they are CLOSED. I'm starting to think it's a front for something else other than a taco place, because I have yet to eat here regardless of how early I am. A normal restaurant would be open for dinner at 5:00, tell me why this location is closed at 5:00PM on a Friday. I give up coming here, The best place to eat Mexican food in Memphis is: Taqueria Guadalupana #3 3160 Austin Peay Hwy, Memphis, TN 38128 They know that regular working people get off at 5:00 p.m. or even later, that's why they're open till 10:00 p.m. on a Friday.

Tried Colombian food for the first time, and it was definitely an experience! Walked in for dinner and immediately felt like we had stepped into a Latin American club—vibrant lights, high-energy music, and a lively atmosphere. Not your typical restaurant vibe, but definitely fun! Our server was super sweet, though English wasn’t her strong suit. Still, we made it work, and she made us feel welcome. Most of us went for Colombia’s national dish, but I opted for ceviche, while my friend went all in with a whole fried tilapia. And let me tell you, that fish stole the show! Crispy, flavorful, though I did wish for a bit more seasoning. The ceviche was light and fresh, though I don’t have much to compare it to. It came without sides, so I ordered fries, but they needed a little more punch in the seasoning department. Tasted a bit of everything from the table, and the national dish was the most exciting—arepa, beans, meat, the whole deal. The fried pork, however, was a bit too fried for my taste (definitely on the harder side). We wrapped things up with flan, and that was the highlight! Smooth, perfectly sweet (a moderate one) and just the right finish to the meal.

Food is good, they recently expanded the place but is still not enough room for the crowd they attract. They force you to sit in one place. The DJ is good and the drinks and food are decent. The price is outrageous and the servers are always up charging you every chance they get. They charge hospitality fees and include tip on your check so be prepared to pay 300+ for 4 people. Side note: 20+ plus cars got broken into recently so becareful.

We had a private event here for my wife's birthday. It was an epic, black tie, masquerade party. They handled all of the decorations, catering, and drinks. Jacob even got us in touch with a violinist who performed at the party. They put our mind at ease and all we needed to do was show up! I loved the place as a restaurant already, but they make an amazing venue as well! Even our pregnant guests were able to enjoy the non alcoholic mocktail options. I would recommend! 10/10!

We love El Mero Taco! They have so many incredible Vegetarian options! The Corn Ribs are insanely good and so creative. I crave them constantly and find I have to visit at least once a week to get a Corn Rib craving fix. The Cauliflower Tacos and Zucchini Tacos are our favorite Veggie Tacos in the city. They've also been kind enough to go off menu and make us an amazing Black Bean and Potato Taco. Their Quesadillas are incredibly delicious, super filling, and can truly be a meal on it's own. The Smoked Poblano Cheesey Grits are another must have item and I love they offer them all day now. On Saturdays, they have a fantastic Brunch. Their Cocktails always impress us, but I recently switched to Mocktails and discovered their Mockarita... Sooo good! It was nice to have a fancy drink and be a part of the party without the alcohol. I really love their ability to accommodate different dietary restrictions and lifestyles. They make everything in house from their own recipes, so they know what is in their food. As a person with food allergies, it is such a relief to eat with confidence because they always know the ingredients and steer me down the best path when ordering. My only request for them is to bring back the Fried Whole Pod Okra from a few years ago. I still crave it and no one else has anything like it.

The girl who took our order was not helpful at all with any suggestions but thankfully I had looked online at some reviews. My fiance ordered the enchiladas and they were fine. I would stick with the burgers when I return though. It's just a little food truck beside a gas station. The area seems fine but it didn't have a pleasant smell. I was satisfied greatly by the food but everything else could be a little better. No complaints though. Give it a try.
Jake V — Google review
If you’re super hungry and craving an amazingly flavorful MASSIVE burger, for $11 you can get the monstrosity pictured with fries. This might be the best burger I’ve had in Memphis. It’s definitely the biggest burger and best for the dollar I’ve had anywhere.
Kyle T — Google review
The service is great, the food is good when it's not too salty. I had the chicken salad which was great except the chicken was oversalted. The tacos I had for taco Tuesday were the best for the price. I had the double burger, too, and that was excellent. I'd give 5 stars but the oversalting was not pleasant.
Lio L — Google review
One of the best burgers I've had in Memphis! One other the guys had the street tacos and he said that they were amaz6!
Scot S — Google review
We both ordered a double cheeseburger as well as two tacos (one chicken / one steak). The burgers and tacos were good. Next time we’ll order the burgers without cheese; they use American and we prefer cheddar or pepper jack. The burger was well cooked and seasoned nicely. It’s comparable to say …Five Guys. The tacos were decent, small, they use corn shells. The hot sauce tasted great and was actually hot. They do sell $.99 tacos on Tuesdays! All in all we’d give it a 3.8 out of 5. We’ll go back.
Grant M — Google review
This place has become very Americanized. The chicken is ok but too much sodium. Don’t love the burrito - a little boring. Why the hard push for burgers?
Leticia R — Google review
Chile Verde is my go to when I want authentic street tacos! They are always good. I also get the mini chicken burrito, which is more than enough by itself. Not sure how they season the chicken, but it’s delicious. They’re generous with the sauces. Customer service is very good too. Would recommend them if you’re looking for great food at a great price.
Raae — Google review
Super yummy. Don't let the outside full you. We got a burrito and a burger and both were amazing. Skip the chain restaurant and eat here
Jessica P — Google review
I spent a nice amount of money with this truck before they started showing they are dishonest. I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt after the first time they lied and shattered my meal but here the day before Thanksgiving I got screwed again! I hope you lose your business and understand that messing over your customers lands you with nothing. People don't be afraid to speak out when you have been wronged!!!!
Nicolas G — Google review
The best tacos in Memphis, hands down. I tried every single dish from this taco truck and I love it all. Shrimp tacos are to die for. Shrimp fajitas are awesome too. Anything with shrimp and beef are delicious.

Latin American restaurant
La Unica Latin American Restaurant is a popular spot known for its fresh, flavorful food and welcoming staff. The tortillas are made fresh daily and customers often buy them in packs. While some have experienced minor mix-ups with their orders, the overall dining experience has been positive. The menu offers authentic Latin flavors, with highlights such as the chicken soup and a variety of meats including carne asada. Visitors praise the delicious tamales and express excitement about returning to this authentic eatery.
Great latin flavor and very authentic food. Service is great fast and courteous. I love the chicken soup from here. Delicious and hearty with noodle veggies and more. Stop in and try La Unica today. Tell them the gringo said to try the soup
Randolph S — Google review
Staff so welcoming and hospitable. Everything we had was truly delicious with one exception: runny queso dip. Chips and salsa amazing. Husband had burrito. I shared chicken tamales plate with Mom. Generally speaking, I hate refried beans and rice. Not here. They were so tasty. They gave me a small bowl of whole pinto beans that I devoured. Can't wait to return.
Cathy S — Google review
Got a Carne asada burrito, told them I just want the meat, guacamole, chopped onion, and lots of cilantro plus some lime juice, no beans and no rice. What I got wasn't the burrito I asked for but the burrito they thought I should get, which included chopped tomato, lettuce, some other ingredients I wasn't sure what they were, along with a meager amount of meat, cilantro and onion, with a side of guac that had tomato, onion and cilantro in it. The burrito still was very good, it just wasn't the one I asked for. I do plan to go back, it's good food and that takes good cooks as well as good fresh ingredients, which can be difficult to find, I'll just have to make sure to ask them to please make what I ask for and don't deviate from that unless I ask for them to surprise me. The burrito was wrapped in paper and al foil and then cut mostly in half- I'd also ask them to not do that, not cut it in half and leave out the paper wrap since the paper gets wet and sticks to the tortilla and gets into the burrito and cutting in half just makes sure the paper wrap and al foil actually do get into the burrito's interior so you've got to pick the paper and foil bits out. To the staff I'll say, y'all make very good food, but listen to your customers a bit more attentively, and more of them will be happy customers and don't add to or improvise on what they ask for without asking them first, also makes for more happy customers and also then you're not spending time, effort and supplies on things the customers don't want, which translates to lower operating cost even of only a little bit lower in cost.

I Love this place, really do. I was raised in California and miss the Mexican food there. With fat tamales and the variety of meats, oooh yeah and the burritos. Take this to the bank you will not regret coming here.

TACO-N-GANAS has quickly become a beloved gem in Memphis, known for its mouthwatering tacos that are sure to delight both your taste buds and your wallet. The standout feature of these authentic Mexican street tacos is the corn tortilla, which is lovingly dipped in an oil infused with dried peppers, adding a unique flavor twist. Many patrons rave about the pollo option and the delicious chipotle sauce that accompanies it—perfectly mild yet bursting with flavor!
The Birria Ramen is the BEST!!! This location is absolute best in the city too! The service is always exceptional! The team is always so friendly and they remember exactly what we order and how we order everytime!! We chose to sit in the patio area and eat since the weather was so nice! Kids were playing in the games area and all the seating areas were nice and clean! They are my go to at least twice a week!!!
Tamika Y — Google review
This place genuinely serves the best tacos and burritos I've ever had in my life. As someone who travels for works and has the singular pleasure of trying eateries from around the country, I have never and I mean ever come across a restaurant, mind you a food stand with Mexican food as genuine as this. If you've never been here or are traveling through, you have to try this place!!! The Asada tacos I got were LOADED and tasted amazing. Their Pastor burrito, no joke, brought a damn tear to my eye it was so good. Bravo y'all, keep doing what you're doing!
Tech O — Google review
Best Tacos I’ve ever had in my life! I eat them a minimum of 3x a week. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Pollo is my favorite and the chipotle sauce is soooo good & not spicy! Tacos are gluten free and make my tummy & soul very happy. You can even play corn hole while you wait for your order, but you won’t be waiting long bc the service is top notch always quick and friendly! Love everyone who works there. I feel like family 💖
Allison P — Google review
We had door dash deliver it to us. I put special notes on the order for them to put the onion and cilantro on the side. We didn't get any at all. I wasn't expecting a birria pizza to have flour tortilla shells instead of corn tortillas. I put a note down for that as well, they didn't replace the flour for corn. It didn't come with the birria dip or beef consommé. I ordered a soup with beef and potatoes. Sadly. Not at all what I'm used to. I most likely won't try it again. Over $30 is not worth it, for what I asked for and didn't get.
Chelsey H — Google review
It’s all about the tacos! Awesome spot for amazing tacos! Camaron are unreal Highly recommend!
Riley F — Google review
This place is soooooo good and I’m pumped it’s in East Memphis. I’ve heard great things about the other locations but we just haven’t made it. I got a couple of taco nganas with chicken, a chicken and cheese quesadilla, and a cup of beef broth. It was all magnificent. I dipped the tacos in the broth and it really added to the flavor. The quesadilla was huge and great as well. The broth was really good as well and there was a lot of it. I look forward to Going back.
Brian S — Google review
Wow! Glad I found TACOnganas. Their tacos are delicious!... and cheap. I guess that's the advantage of low overhead. Fair warning, no bathroom. I got there needing to go, should have went before I headed there. Thankfully, when I realized my predicament, I still placed my order (to-go) and they were pretty quick to get it ready. Not sure if this was because they were kinda slow tonight or if they recognized the pee-pee dance I was doing. Either way delicious! Don't believe that Karen's 1* review from a week ago. Dumb.
Bryan B — Google review
Worst tacos ever. Meat was grisly and tasted a day old. I had to drown the tacos in lime and salsa to get them down. I think my dog would turn them down. Its possible that since I'm from California and have actually had real street tacos, maybe my standards might be higher. Maybe the south can't get the right Asada?? Either way the sign says voted best in town. If that's true I truly feel sorry for the people living in West Memphis. Worst tacos in my life.

While some mention slow service, others praise the tasty tacos and great prices. The steak queso taco with cilantro is particularly recommended.
Food is always good. Ground beef is a bit salty though

A regular for our family for takeout. The Birria tacos and Milanesa are fan-favorites. Check your order thoroughly, the accuracy is highly dependent on who is working the register.
Justin B — Google review
The food was great, however, the portions were much smaller than my previous meals and for the second time, I didn't receive my chips and salsa. I ordered door dash....
Marnita S — Google review
Food is good, just service is a bit slow, then you have to be very patient.
Rafael G — Google review
I bought chicken, cheese and rice and a side of salsa and chips. They ended up giving me a TINY portion of rice and a little portion of chicken with shredded cheese on top. Then I ordered an extra side of beans and rice and didn’t even receive the extra rice only the tiny portion of rice. The total was $20. So $20 for that little bit of food? When I went up there to complain the lady just handed me a $5 bill… yeah I’ll never be returning again ! NOT WORTH IT! And they was doing everything WITHOUT GLOVES AND NOT WASHING HANDS!
Kayla A — Google review
Great food. Service has been just fine the few times I've been there. The grilled crunchy onions are amazing as is the carnita tacos and hot dogs. The only bad thing is they do not have iced tea but they do have Mexican coke.
Menfuss M — Google review
Good food great price I recommend them to anyone
Larry K — Google review
Asked for a taco and the food was spoiled, and she wanted to charge me for that food, you never know how much the food really cost because she will charge you whatever she wants, is expensive and not the same flavor used to be, they take too long to give you your food and the tortilla was burned, use to be really good, but is not anymore, my son also ate there and he wasn’t feeling really well, It might be because the food is not fresh, i won’t recommend this place.

I contracted a bad bout of food poisoning from this place. My boyfriend and I ate on the patio, and we were seated at a dirty table. A worker proceeded to wipe the table with a damp, unsanitized cloth, and there was dried, old food left in the table crevices. We ordered hot dogs and guacamole dip. I felt fine before the meal, and had eaten nothing that day but some fruit, which I ate about 4 hours before my meal at Chiwawa. About 30 minutes after leaving Chiwawa, I felt ill, and I had nausea for about 3 hours. I then started throwing up. I threw up 5 times in 1 hour. It's the day after now, and I still feel weak and nauseous. The place really needs to work on their sanitation and food preparation. I have only gotten food poisoning twice in my life, including this instance.
