Graceland, the famed estate of Elvis Presley, is a popular destination for fans and history enthusiasts alike. The mansion offers tours and exhibits, including a car museum and two jets. Visitors can spend as little as an hour or a whole day exploring the estate's various attractions. The mansion itself reflects Elvis' personal style, with unique decor choices like the iconic Jungle Room where he recorded an album.
Absolutely fascinating. If you have any interesting in recent history and pop culture Graceland is a must visit once location. The house itself is a moment in time preserved for history. I paid extra for tickets to see the planes and it was well worth it. By today’s standards everything is quite modest but you absolutely come away with a sense of Elvis. It is a reminder of his talent.: The family cemetery was incredible moving whilst the galley of his costumes and display of his cars was really fun. Only thing I felt was strange was the darker side of his life was very much brushed over! The site is very well maintained and staff are friendly and passionate about Elvis.

Really great experience. Very well staffed and maintained and it was very quiet when we visited! The house itself is lovely. The grounds are beautiful and it's very special to stand by Elvis' grave. Highly recommended. The car collection was amazing - really liked the Pink Cadillac! And don't miss out on the planes! Excellent. Thank You, Thank You very much!
Nicky H — Google review
Graceland is a spot you can't miss. There are two parts to it, the "grounds" and the Mansion. The mansion is a quick walk through of Elvis' home and can see virtually every spot, minus the bathrooms and private bedrooms. It also takes you through the property to see the pool, recording studios, offices, and even the Graves of Elvis, his parents, Lisa Marie, and Benjamin. The grounds part is all his car and motorcycle collections, memorabilia and ither rock n roll fame history. There were plenty of stuff to help guide you through every building. We only had two hours to see everything and was plenty of time to see it all. However, I would suggest 3-4 to really engage yourself with the experience.

Visiting Graceland in Memphis was a day I will never forget! I’m so glad I planned ahead. I bought my tickets weeks in advance to secure an early morning entry, and it was absolutely worth it. Arriving before the big crowds made the tour feel extra peaceful and serene. It's easy to understand why Elvis cherished his time here so much. Even the horse on the property was the calmest I’ve ever seen, adding to the tranquil atmosphere. The mansion itself is incredible. Every room is unique, showcasing Elvis’s one of a kind style and personal design choices. It’s fascinating to see how much of the decor was customized to his vision. The Meditation Garden was especially moving..beautiful, quiet, and the resting place where Elvis and his family are buried together. Photos are allowed throughout most of the visit though video is not permitted. The upstairs remains closed for privacy. Beyond the mansion, the experience continues with Elvis's plane, auto exhibition, multiple restaurants, museums, and shops filled with an incredible variety of Elvis memorabilia. The merchandising is top notch, there truly is something for every fan! I especially loved the Christmas ornaments! Graceland isn’t just a tourist attraction it’s an enduring tribute. The King’s presence is everywhere, and his legend truly lives on!!
How L — Google review
For any die hard Elvis fan this is a must. Absolutely everything to do with Elvis Presley you can see it here. The exhibits are brilliant and well put together. There is a lot of walking but worth it. Did realise how many stage costumes he owned. Exciting to be able to basically be able to walk in his shoes visiting the house he lived and climbing on board his own private jet.

⭐️ Graceland – The Home of Elvis Presley 👑🎸 I booked my tour in advance — they have shuttles taking guests from the visitor center to the mansion. Just a short 3-minute ride and you’re there — and wow, the moment you arrive you feel the history! The house is amazing — from the elegant living room to the famous Jungle Room 🌴, the kitchen, and even the basement gym. Everything looks just like Elvis left it — a real time capsule of the King’s life. Outside you’ll find the beautiful Meditation Garden 🕊️ with Elvis’s grave and his family’s resting place — peaceful and emotional. After the mansion tour, the shuttle takes you back to explore the car museum 🚗 — including the legendary pink Cadillac, his Mercedes, motorcycles, gold records, and so much more! 🎶 Every corner tells a story — Graceland is not just a museum, it’s pure American music history. 📍 A must-visit in Memphis — worth every minute! 💡 Tip: Book early and go in the morning — less crowded and perfect lighting for photos! 📸✨
Lior M — Google review
It's pricier than your average museum but worth it! Elvis was before my time but my father loved his music and played it when I was little. Elvis liked white leather and gold, he had great taste. Look to spend about 2 to 3 hours here. Parking was $10 and base admission for adults is $85.50.
Melvin W — Google review
So much to do and see here. They estimate 3 hours to complete the tour but to really do it justice, it takes much longer. Great food at Vernons for lunch too. The most surprising thing was the price on everything. Very reasonable everywhere we went! Even the gift shops had lower prices than you would expect for a tourist attraction and each shop had different items for sale. Yes, there is a gift shop at every stop, but they're all unique enough to make you want to look through them. Plan for several hours unless you're doing the very basic tour where you are only touring the mansion and nothing else.

The National Civil Rights Museum is a powerful and emotional site that commemorates the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Lorraine Motel in 1968. The museum offers a comprehensive look at the civil rights movement, featuring exhibits on key figures and events leading up to King's assassination. Visitors can explore the motel where King stayed, as well as the boarding house where his assailant, James Earl Ray, was situated.
Amazing experience! If you truly want to learn about the struggle the black and other minority experienced in the US, this is the place learn it and educate yourself. You won't truly know what it feels like but you can at least see it through the lens of this we'll curated museum. They displayed every endeavours and every battles experienced by the black community and every activist that played a vital role in improving their lives and the future generations. And struggle still continues to this day. Come to the museum to learn!
Cyril G — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis is one of the most powerful and moving places I have ever visited. It’s hard to fully understand the depth of certain tragedies unless you lived through them or felt their lasting impact in your daily life. I lived through the tragic murder of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and the ripple effects of that loss remain with me to this day. Walking through this museum, I was reminded of that painful moment in history while also inspired by the strength and courage of those who fought for justice. The exhibits are laid out with great care and detail, telling the story of the Civil Rights Movement from slavery through the 1960s and beyond. Standing at the Lorraine Motel, looking at the balcony where Dr. King took his final steps, was overwhelming. It is both heartbreaking and humbling. The museum does more than present history—it makes you feel it. The powerful visuals, personal stories, and authentic atmosphere ensure that every visitor leaves with a deeper understanding of the fight for equality. This museum is a must-visit for all generations, a place of learning, reflection, and hope for the future.
Charles K — Google review
I am very thankful to have been able to visit here with my family! The amount of underlining love that seemed to surround this area as well as a bit of sadness in the air being so close to where Dr. King's life was ended from such a cowardly act of hate is so surreal. The museum was very informative and reflected our history well.
Taylor H — Google review
Wow. Beautifully constructed, my only complaint was WOW that was a lot to read. (As a reader, that is a good thing!) But I didn’t have nearly enough time. If you wanted to truly learn and read everything in there, it would take you 5hrs to get through. So plan accordingly. There is a large free parking lot half a block from the museum, so that was lovely. Staff was INCREDIBLE! So friendly, polite, and answered any questions I had.
Tomi T — Google review
This is an absolute **must-do in Memphis**. Visiting the National Civil Rights Museum was a powerful and emotional experience. It’s incredibly educational and eye-opening — walking through the exhibits truly makes you reflect on the strength, courage, and sacrifices of those who fought for equality. You can feel the history in every part of the museum, and it’s both heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time. I left with a deeper sense of gratitude and respect for the movement and for those who paved the way. Everyone should visit this museum at least once in their lifetime.
Danitrice L — Google review
The National Civil Rights Museum is very well organized. I liked that it started with information about life in Africa pre-enslavement and that there was an introductory video prior to visitors entering the full exhibit. There was plenty of information on display from various time periods including the Jim Crow era, the bus boycott, sit ins, integration of schools, the Black Power movement, etc.
Keithia T — Google review
Excellent place to visit to see the world at that time in the country fighting for civil rights. History that needs to be taught in school to understand what it was like as people of color fought and died for to have basic human rights. Very informative highly recommended if you are in the Memphis area.
Veronica W — Google review
Well worth the money we paid to visit the museum, the exhibits are so well put together, which reminds you of the cruel inhumane people were treated and how the civil rights movement fought long and hard. I can't really describe this place but if you are ever in the area you should pay a visit.

Beale St is a renowned street in Memphis, known for its vibrant nightlife and live music scene. It's lined with funky hangouts, bars, cafes, galleries, and restaurants. The street has a rich history as the home of the blues and continues to be the city's epicenter of music. Visitors can enjoy street performers and explore the brick-lined thoroughfare that has been a cultural hub for over a century.
Enjoyed walking down Beale Street ,kinda like our Bourbon Street but smaller and cleaner .

It was okay, nothing exciting, but was also there on a Thursday night so I'm sure that makes a difference. I do recommend going and experiencing it though! Plenty of places to pop in have a drink or something to eat as well.

I've only visited Beale St. during the week so it is not as busy as it gets on the weekend. But this last time I was there, there was a Memphis University Baskeball rally that was pretty cool!!! Lots of bars and music venues to choose from!!!

Ok for a Tuesday night. Places to see some history but mostly just shopping and bars.

When the music is NOT playing the streets are pretty empty. Go late and plan to wander the main drag. As with any city full of tourists, just be aware of your surroundings.

The Memphis Zoo is a captivating destination that showcases a diverse array of land and sea animals in pavilions organized by geographic regions. It provides an opportunity for visitors to appreciate the beauty of these creatures outside their natural habitats, while also educating young minds about the importance of conservation. Beyond the animal exhibits, the zoo is located within Overton Park, offering additional attractions such as golf courses, forested trails, Rainbow Lake, and the renowned Brooks Museum of Art.
One of the best zoos that I've visited and only got to cover half of it. So many sights the walking paths are amazing and have numerous shaded areas to protect you from the heat. Very clean and well maintained zoo.
YOU M — Google review
Wow! The selection of animals was outstanding. We were passing by on a cross country road trip and needed to stretch our legs. The layout is amazing, so much walking, we did 7500 steps in two hours before they closed! I brought my three kids teen to toddler, everyone had a great time. Bring a stroller for under five yr old, super stroller friendly. We came on the off season on a Wednesday so the food places weren't open, got drinks from the various vending machines. A few enclosures didn't have occupants, but honestly not a big deal because there are sooooo many animals here, still. Missed the pandas but knew they weren't going to be here and it's not the fault of the zoo. The animal experts were so kind and knowledgeable and treated the animals with care. The animals looked well cared for and enclosures were large and clean.
Devin F — Google review
Loved this zoo. Had low expectations coming from Dallas zoos and aquariums. But our family loved this just as much. They have small aquarium that could use some TLC. But everything else was great, there is a lot of walking but most of the large animals are out and about and easy to spot. The Herptarium area had plenty of reptile and amphibians.
Ccarrillo717 — Google review
We go to zoos in every city we visit and this one is delightful. I discovered they're starting a 20-year (!) improvement plan, which will ameliorate the last few old-fashioned animal enclosures, which will take the zoo to the next level. The place is spotless, the animals are well cared-for, and the workers are knowledgeable and friendly. I absolutely do not begrudge the rather high entry expense, as it helps finance the necessary upgrades, which in turn aids in conservation efforts. The site is well-organized and easy to navigate. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here - if you have kids (or even if you don't!) this is a great place to take a break from other frenetic tourist activities.
Heather S — Google review
I've loved the Memphis Zoo ever since I was a kid. This zoo has so many different kinds of animals. Lots of the walking is shaded or inside and there are mist fans. Kids can play either in the small fountain or in the new splash pad. There are also zip lines and other new features. Memberships for a family are almost cheaper than just going once, great deal. A great place to visit!
Cayla M — Google review
By far the best zoo my wife and i have ever been too. Very clean, super nice workers, they was working on part of it so we didn't see everything. You will get steps in. It was hot but there's plenty of shade and drink stations. The animals looked well fed and very happy.
Curtis F — Google review
Super crowded due to lots of schools there for field trips, but still enjoyable and able to get away from the crowds if needed. It was chilly that morning, so some of the animals weren't out.

The Stax Museum of American Soul Music is a tribute to the iconic Stax Records and the soul music genre. Housed in the original location of Stax Records, it features a replica recording studio and rotating exhibits that narrate the history of soul music. The museum showcases a real Mississippi Delta church from 1906, reconstructed inside the building, as well as an exact replica of Studio A where Stax artists recorded their hits.
Full disclosure: I danced about architecture (a.k.a. wrote about musicians) for a quarter century or so. On a music-history tour, had stopped at RCA's Studio B, Sun Records, and then pulled up to Stax. In my previous life, actually had the pleasure of interviewing Isaac Hayes for a San Francisco-based entertainment magazine called The Wave (long gone). Was so looking forward to this. It was everything I'd hoped and more. Everyone working there was friendly, the guides were informative, and the displays were staggering. The soundboards and master recordings. Ike and Tina Turner's stagewear. Albert and B.B. King's guitars. Various mementos from Jim Stewart and Estelle Axton. Isaac Hayes's desk and gold-plated car. Steve Cropper's Telecaster guitar, Donald "Duck" Dunn's Precision bass, Al Jackson Jr.'s Rogers drum kit. Loving the rich history, appreciative of the soul. Kid in a candy store, I am.

Stax Museum – A Soulful Journey Through Music History The Stax Museum in Memphis is an absolute gem for music lovers and history buffs alike. From the moment you step inside, you're immersed in the rich legacy of soul music and the incredible artists who shaped it. The museum is beautifully curated, with interactive exhibits, rare memorabilia, and a recreated recording studio that brings the spirit of Stax Records to life. The atmosphere is both reverent and vibrant — you can feel the passion and creativity that defined the Stax sound. Highlights include Isaac Hayes’ gold-plated Cadillac, vintage instruments, and powerful stories of how music intersected with civil rights and culture. It’s not just a museum; it’s a celebration of soul, resilience, and artistic brilliance. Whether you're a lifelong fan of soul or just discovering it, the Stax Museum offers an unforgettable experience that stays with you long after you leave.

This was a great museum to visit in Memphis! The security guard was the nicest gentlemen ever. We showed up right before close and he encouraged us to come back the next day but let us look at the gift shop for a bit. I learned quite a bit and overall truly enjoyed it.

Really great video to start the tour and informative information and about artists and about artifacts all through the museum and a nice store at the end with music to sell very good tour. I would recommend coming if you’re in Memphis. If they had one CD with all the hit songs, that would be a great offer

What an amazing place to visit! The Stax Museum of American Soul Music is a true gem. From the moment you walk in, you're transported through the history of soul music with incredible exhibits, artifacts, and stories that bring the genre to life. The attention to detail is remarkable, and the atmosphere is electric. It’s a powerful and moving experience that’s a must-see for music lovers and anyone interested in a vital part of American history. I can't recommend it enough!

The Stax Museum was pretty damn cool. I wish I could have toured it with my late Father & Late Grandfather to gauge their reactions to everything in the museum. I definitely bought a few pieces of merchandise from the gift shop for my family & myself. The fitted cap is on point! Dope Logo as well.

As we proceeded through the exhibits, it became evident just how significant Memphis has been in shaping American musical history. The museum offers detailed information about pivotal moments, such as the emergence of the first Black radio station, and how genres like gospel and country influenced the renaissance of blues music. Each exhibit was thoughtfully curated, offering a deep dive into the stories behind iconic figures and legendary venues. The tour effectively contextualizes Memphis’s pivotal role in music history, shedding light on cultural and historical factors that give the city its unique musical identity. It also provides insight into famous sites like Beale Street, and celebrates the legendary careers of musicians such as B.B. King and Elvis Presley. In summary, the Memphis Rock and Soul Museum is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to understand the roots of Memphis’s vibrant musical landscape. Visiting here before exploring other attractions offers valuable background that enriches the experience of the city’s famous landmarks and musical legends.

This is probably the best music museum I have ever visited. From the name, you know what to expect but it is so well done and the audio guided tour is brilliant. We spent 2 hours here but could have stayed much longer. Highly recommended
Denise B — Google review
Not worth the value at all in our opinion. There is basically one small room upstairs and that is it. You definitely can use the money spent for a better much more detailed attraction.

Absolutely my favorite museum experience in Memphis so far. I was not sure how I would like the whole headset business but it added so much to the experience. By the end of the tour I found myself asking for more. This story is so beautiful, I do not and do not want it to end. Memphis! Please bring us more music!

I visited last week with my kids high school music program. We had an absolutely fantastic time. The guided audio tour was fantastic. Everything was very clean and well maintained. All staff we encountered were also extremely friendly and assisted us with some directions as well. Thank you!

If you’re short on time and want a one-stop-shop for Memphis music history — this is it. Having done both the Sun Studio and STAX tours, I found there’s definitely some overlapping history here, but Rock ‘n’ Soul brings in fresh narratives and perspectives that still made it a worthwhile and enriching stop. What really sets this place apart is the self-guided audio tour. It’s choose-your-own-adventure style — letting you move at your own pace, dive deeper where you want, or skip ahead when something else catches your ear. Tons of great music samples and stories along the way, all really well produced. It’s compact but content-rich, and located right near Beale Street and FedExForum, making it super easy to pop in. Whether you’re starting your Memphis music journey or adding it to a full tour lineup, the Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum holds its own as a must-visit.

I would HIGHLY recommend coming to the Rock n Soul Museum in memphis, this museum is VERY educational and has a lot of historically significant objects and interesting items too look at. But I wouldn’t recommend coming here with kids because the lack of interactivity and how short the museum is.

Mud Island is a small peninsular area in the middle of the Mississippi River, offering a variety of attractions for visitors. The island features a public park, history museum, restaurants, and an amphitheater. Visitors can reach the island by taking a tram that was featured in the film 'The Firm.' Once there, they can explore the Mississippi River Museum with its 17 galleries and a scale replica of the river.
This place is amazing!!! Kind of deserted and overgrown but still has lights and bins so somewhat attended to. The walk bridge is only open from 7-7- got out at 6:46- don’t get stuck on the bridge. There’s an abandoned monorail for Simpson’s fans and plenty of algae in the flooded pool for the sturdy of stomach. The Mississippi River map in the ground was beautiful and a must for those into brutalist design.
Molly M — Google review
This is a neat place, especially the scale of the Mississippi River on-site. Wish they’d fill it back with water. This place could really be something again if they’d decide to maintain it. The monorail is closed, museum is closed so you walk over the footbridge to the site and explore on your own. Wasted opportunity for Memphis imo, not sure if it’s used at all anymore for anything fun or constructive.

We were in town for 2 days and walked over one morning from our hotel I really liked the little island and it was very peaceful and beautiful.back home in England but I have great memories from my trip...thank you memphis

It's a shame this area is a little run down..it seems unloved. We had a walk over the bridge one morning passing an abandoned monorail. The scale model of the Mississipi river was an interesting talking point for us. Had our picture taken with the large iconic Memphis sign. Had a wonder around but not much else to do but im glad we made the effort.
Sandy — Google review
Only came to take pics by the Memphis sign which it was a needle and a haystack to find! Well it’s definitely not something you can see from the parking lot, you have to pay to park in the lot I went to (and please pay because when I pulled in there was a woman in a company truck patrolling the lot taking pics of folks license plates which I’m not sure how they can tell who paid or not because it’s not like you received a receipt or anything to place on your dash… Once you park there’s about a 8-10 minute walk before you actually reach the sign. Thanks to the Bass Pro pyramid we saw the Memphis sign perfectly so it was easy to hop in the car and drive to the location. Once the sign was located we had a picnic because the weather was nice. I highly recommend for a photo shoot

Mud Island ended up being a day trip for us on the way to Nashville. While the tram was not open that day we REALLY enjoyed the walk across the bridge and then following the Mississippi River all the way to the Gulf of Mexico on the island. It gave our kiddos insight into how large the river is, towns along its path and the topography of the river. This was a great blend of learning and fun that our family loved.

Shelby Farms Park, located on the eastern edge of Memphis, spans 4,500 acres and offers a wide range of outdoor activities. Visitors can explore biking and horse trails, go fishing or boating in the park's numerous bodies of water, and enjoy playgrounds for kids. The park is five times larger than Central Park in NYC and provides ample opportunities for walking, jogging, biking, and even horseback riding. Additionally, visitors can rent paddle boats to cruise around the lake.
It's a great place to go with the whole family and even your dog. It has plenty to do from kayaking, riding a horse, paddle boat, zip lining, fishing to just simply going for a walk or just letting the kids play in the playground or the sand . It really is quite a lovely place to go. Just remember to take plenty of water to stay hidratanted
Mineydi M — Google review
I recently took my baby girl to Shelby Farms Park, and we had a really great time! The park is absolutely beautiful and full of space to explore. The playground area is fun, colorful, and perfect for younger kids my daughter had the best time. Watching her smile and enjoy herself made the whole trip more than worth it. That said, it was very packed when we went. It’s clearly a popular spot, especially on nice days. One downside was that some parents weren’t really watching their kids, and a few children were being pretty rough and playing in a way that didn’t feel very safe for the younger ones. I definitely had to keep a closer eye on my daughter than expected. Still, the park itself is amazing there’s so much to do, from walking trails to open fields and the lake. If you’re looking for a fun, active day with your kids, Shelby Farms is a great place to go. Just be prepared for crowds during peak hours, and keep an eye out if your little one is still small or just learning their way around. Tip: Try going earlier in the morning or on a weekday if you want to avoid the bigger crowds. All in all, a great experience for us and we’ll definitely be going back!

Wanted to find a place to walk after dinner. Some areas with water access and pavilions were very busy. Many roads and outlets so even with the Google map, it was hard to know the layout of the area. We wanted to find a quieter area. Did find one that was by Go Ape Zipline & Adventure Park. At first we did not know what it was, but cool to see treehouse like structures and rope bridges above us. Bridge was out on one trail there, but alternate trails have splits in the trails. Did help a gentleman and his wife find their car keys.

My husaband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary at Shelby Farms Park this past weekend. We drove 3 1/2 hours from Lebanon, TN to experience some of the fun, outdoor experiences that the farm offers. We brought our ebikes and hit the bike trails immediately after our arrival on Friday morning the 17th and it was just amazing! We left the park to check in our hotel room to make our 5pm dinner reservastion at the Coastal Fish Co. restaurnat and I must say even though we weren't able to get a patio table, we still eneded up with window seating which allowed us to see right out to the lake and witness the beautiful sun set. So with the ambiance and great food, we had a great anniversary celebration with professional sevice from our waiter, Bryan. Saturday, was part 2 of our SFP experience. I surprised my husband with a one private horse back ride. The weather could not have been more perfect! We were led on the trail by one of best trail leaders ever, Laura or Lady (nickname). It was our first time riding and I shared with Laura that I was "low-key" freaking out. lol! but Laura encouraged me and promised I would relax within several minutes and she was absolutely right! The ride was so peaceful and enjoyable and capped off our anniversary time at the park!

The Memphis Grizzlies have a great Arena! It is Beautiful! If you visit from out of town, stay near the Arena and walk to the Arena. This is one of the nicest in The NBA. It’s nice and clean. They had a good Souvenirs shop. Easy getting in and out. Highly recommend go see a game at this Arena.

Clean facility with nice and friendly staff This was a short walk from our rental. A bit expensive. We purchased some pretzels which were pretty good but tasted slightly of cinnamon. And we purchased chicken fingers but they were coated in about 1/2 inch or more of breading. It may have just been the ones we got but the breading was so thick it wasn't completely cooked on the inside.

This was one of my favorite concert venues as in regards to experience at the venue. I would say it was a little bit disorganized for the VIP and didnt get everything I was supposed to with the vip. It was easy to get merch and drinks especially with it being 90. I was able to get in and to the barrier relatively quickly. Shinedown put an amazing show on. Would recommend anyone who can see shinedown to come here. Also just in general the concert was very well cooled with and stayed comfortable with all the Pyro shinedown used.

The Memphis Botanic Garden is a diverse collection of plants from around the world, featuring separate areas such as a popular Japanese tranquility space. Families can enjoy snowy nights and crafts at the garden, which has expanded its festivities to include the entire garden. Additionally, every Thursday in July, visitors can bring their leashed dogs to explore the 96 acres of daylilies, dogwoods, and dwarf cypress during extended hours as part of the 'Dog Days of Summer' program.
What a splendid garden, rather 30 themed gardens. I walk fairly steadily pace. I saw the entire gardens and spent two and half hours. But I was mainly visiting to see the troll exhibit. I will definitely be buying a membership so I can come and sit in the gardens and have lunch or read. Or even soak up the sun. Very well kept. Absolutely recommend all people to visit.

We recently had the pleasure of visiting the Memphis Botanical Gardens, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The gardens offer a wonderful splash area for kids, making it a perfect spot for families. On the day we visited, there were also several booths, beautiful artwork available for purchase. The shaded sitting areas throughout the gardens provide a serene environment to relax and soak in the beauty around you. The greenhouse is particularly stunning, filled with vibrant plants and flowers that truly capture the essence of the gardens. One of my favorite aspects of this venue is the welcoming policy that allows visitors to bring their own food. It creates such a romantic and charming atmosphere for a picnic date night amidst the breathtaking surroundings. Additionally, the gardens feature an events building, making it an ideal location for hosting special occasions. How fantastic is that? I left feeling inspired and rejuvenated, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommend this treasure in Memphis!

This place is huge, we spent almost 3 hours walking, reading and learning about plants. Unfortunately it was a hot summer day and there are no beverages vending machines anywhere. We had to settle with fountain water. Be sure you pack plenty cold soda it will help you thru the garden. The admission ticket is only $12 for adult what a bargain. This place is good for family outing. The garden is well maintained. Their gift shop is tiny and not much selection.

It is always a joy visiting the garden. The grounds are huge very well cultivated, you can tell a lot of love and work goes into the garden. Definitely recommend getting the annual pass, it's effectively paid for itself after a short period of time given how frequently I visit the place. While definitely popular (for great reasons!) w the local schools and for weddings and photo shoots, still large enough to have some privacy and peace even at peak hours. The Asian garden and the herb garden are probably my favorite sections of the whole place.

The Dixon Gallery & Gardens, established in 1976, is a unique combination of an art museum and beautifully landscaped gardens in Memphis. The museum features permanent collections of Impressionist and post-Impressionist art, while the surrounding 17 acres offer a stunning botanical park. The venue also hosts events such as wedding receptions and rehearsal dinners, with facilities like the Hughes Pavilion and Winegardner Auditorium available for various functions.
WONDERFUL!! What a jewel of the city. I came here with my daughter on a federal holiday and there happen to not be many people here. We came when they had a special train themed art exhibit and it was sensational. The Dixon does a fabulous job of spacing the art along with the incredible descriptions. In addition, there are several other exhibits such as an extensive porcelain collection of fine china (600 pieces) which was beautiful. We were very impressed and will be returning.

Dixon Gallery & Gardens is one of my all time favorite places in Memphis. The gallery is always a nice experience, and the gardens are exquisite. There are quiet spots to experience some zen, and the lawn is always great for a picnic or an event. We recently attended Symphony in the Garden for Mother’s Day and had a fantastic time! Would absolutely attend again. The Dixon remaining Free for Good is also such a service to the community, helping Memphis keep arts & culture accessible for all!

The Dixon Gallery & Gardens is a beautiful destination for a day trip with family and friends, offering to be immersed in artwork and peaceful outdoor spaces. Stroll through a well-kept flower garden that leads into a shaded trail, perfect for enjoying fresh air and nature with loved ones. I recommend setting aside 2–3 hours to explore both the indoor art galleries and the flower garden and trail. The gardens are immaculate—ideal for taking family portraits or just a serene escape from the city. Inside, you’ll find two main painting galleries: a temporary gallery which currently features the Susan Watkins collection from the Chrysler Museum of Art and the permanent oil paintings collection. I especially enjoyed the works of Susan Watkins, a highly regarded painter from San Francisco. Housed in a beautifully preserved colonial manor, the Dixon Gallery & Gardens stands out as my top choice for its blend of art, history, and natural beauty. Best of all, admission is free, and there’s plenty of parking. Enjoy your trip to Dixon!

The greenhouse is such a gem! Intimate & peaceful alternative to the larger Botanic Gardens next door - there's a gallery featuring rotating artists & a little café. A Must-Visit for Music History Lovers Sun Studio is a small but mighty landmark packed with musical legacy. Standing in the very room where legends like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis began their careers is nothing short of awe-inspiring. It’s amazing to think how such a modest space helped shape the sound of American music. The tour is well-organized and informative, offering a few fascinating stories and original memorabilia that bring the studio’s history to life. Just a heads-up—it's a compact venue, so don’t expect a long visit. You’ll likely be in and out within an hour, but every minute is worth it. Tip: Be sure to book your time slot in advance, as it can fill up quickly. Despite its size, Sun Studio delivers a powerful experience that’s well worth the stop for anyone visiting Memphis.

Full disclosure: I danced about architecture (a.k.a. wrote about musicians) for a quarter century or so. A key stop on a music-history tour, and it was everything I hoped for. Led by a brilliant tour guide, local musician Mark Edgar Stuart, he painted the perfect picture of the earliest days of rock and roll. When someone asked me about why I wanted to go on this trip, I responded, "Because this is where the Beatles and Stones *came from*." Stuart played bits of many seminal songs (the Johnny-Cash dollar-under-the-strings scratch-rhythm guitar-- perfect), discussed various artifacts, and ultimately put us in The Room where the magic happened (and still does). Elvis. Atkins. Jerry Lee. The recordings, it's staggering. Look it up if you haven't already. As Bob Dylan once sang, but not really, [this works better doing a bad Dylan impression] Larry Mullen's blue sparkle drum kit from U2's Rattle And Hum rests comfortably just beyond the door. I didn't buy three T-shirts, I bought four. [harmonica bleat] Seriously, thank you.

I usually give pretty good reviews of ball parks, this one didn't quite cut the 5 star. Overall the ballpark is great. I did like the design and it's a pretty good size stadium. Unfortunately our experience wasn't the greatest. It was a 93 degree day and a scorcher. While we do enjoying going games, the concession prices keep up from making purchases. My girlfriend asked for a cup of ice water and they would not give her any except for $6 price of a soda. While we were just in Biloxi and they had no problem with a free cup of ice water, the Redbirds did. What made it even worse is their drinking fountains don't work. Even after speaking with customer service, they did nothing. Pretty disappointed overall. Luckily they won the game 9-0.

I went with a group for a work event. General admission was $20 per person, though, and water was $8/bottle, according to neighboring attendants. Clear bag only policy! And bring sunglasses and a hat!! Almost every single seat will get hit by the midday sun. We had the coors lite lounge reserved, and there was food catered from Rendezvous (restaurant around the corner). It's a very good barbecue if you haven't been! You showed your ticket to enter, and they gave you a wrist band so you could leave and return as desired. The lounge was clean and had a good view of the field. But if you didn't get there early, you definitely had no chance of a seat inside with a view. I ate on the patio area and sat in the seats provided outside instead. The lounge also offered a bar, billiards tables, and tvs with the game. The ac was not as refreshing as you'd hope, though. The room-length wall was open so people could sit and watch the game directly. We parked across the street in P2727, $30 for 4 hours. So overall, it was fairly cheap, kid friendly, and a fun experience. Will visit again!

Great collection of pieces of art! It's a small museum but there are so many exhibits of display! I was impressed! And it's not expensive at all! Highly recommend!

Great museum, this place is a hidden treasure in Memphis. They have so much its crazy to believe this is all here. Rare peices and lots of intricate carvings like ivory. Amazing art and crafts to see from such old times.
Kenny P — Google review
There's so many amazing peices of art here. There's furniture, embroidery, sculptures, calligraphy, and more. It's insane seeing the expert jade and ivory carvings, especially ones involving chains or puzzel spheres. Make sure you read the plaques. It really gives important context to the pieces, like how one piece is a mammoth's tusk that's over 10,000 years old! It is a small museum, but it is worth the 6$

The Belz Museum is truly a gem, not to missed. I was astounded by the quality of the collection and by the superb craftsmanship of each object. Of the dozen or more museums that I visited on a multi-state two week trip, this was my favorite. I only wish the museum had a current book illustrating and describing the pieces (the one in the gift shop is dated 1995 and doesn’t include many of the pieces). This is a world-class collection and museum!
Dave W — Google review
This museum is truly amazing and deserving of 10 stars, if I was able to give that many. The exhibits are spectacular and worth taking the time to go see. My only criticism is that the person who was working at the ticket counter/gift shop could not have been less welcoming…just generally unfriendly and treated us like we were a bother. Even so, you won’t regret making time to go through the museum.

The Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art is an incredible hidden gem in Memphis. As I walked through the exhibits, I was struck by the diversity and beauty of the art on display. The museum features an extensive collection of Asian art, including pieces from China, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia, as well as a large collection of Judaic art, including works from ancient to modern times. The Asian collection includes a wide range of mediums, from traditional ink paintings and porcelain pottery to contemporary sculptures and installations. The museum's collection of Judaic art is equally impressive, featuring a diverse range of objects, including religious texts, ceremonial objects, and fine art. What I found most impressive about the museum was the way it seamlessly blends different cultures and time periods. The curators have done a wonderful job of creating a cohesive narrative that highlights the similarities and differences between the two cultures and how they have influenced each other over time. The Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art is a unique and enlightening experience. It offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the art, culture, and history of two vastly different regions of the world. I highly recommend visiting this museum for anyone interested in art, culture, and history. Overall, the Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art is a must-see destination for anyone interested in art, culture, and history. It offers a unique and enlightening experience for visitors to learn about the art and culture of two vastly different regions of the world.

Absolutely loved this hidden gem of the Memphis Art Scene!!! Great staff, but even better exhibits. The level of detail in the tusk carvings is insane! A nice Holocaust remembrance exhibit too. The artifacts are dated to the era in which they were likely created. And any available info is provided. Craziest thing to me is that the staff told my group that this only represents 10% or less of the art they hold currently.
Shaggyrax — Google review
This museum looks unassuming from the outside, but don’t be fooled. The collection of jade and Asian work is outstanding! It’s a quiet, peaceful museum (so was a great way to spend a hot summer afternoon). If you enjoy looking at art this is $5 well spent, the detail on the pieces kept us busy for several hours. I also really enjoyed the Holocaust memorial exhibit with the stories.

Barbecue restaurant
Central BBQ - Downtown is a popular eatery in Memphis, known for its inventive meat dishes such as BBQ nachos, pork sandwiches, and brisket platters. Located across the road from the National Civil Rights Museum, this location is just one of five across the city. The restaurant opens from 11am-9pm seven days a week and tends to get busy during lunchtime with queues out the door.
(Post from Aug 4th) A quick Google search for “best BBQ near me” led us to Central. Must say that it did not disappoint. Enjoyed delicious bologna and brisket sandwiches for lunch. Ordered slab of ribs for later — which were delicious even at room temp. (Didn’t even warm up in the microwave)
TB T — Google review
Coming from Texas this wasnt bad bbq! The bbq was pretty good, their bbq sauce was awesome- we put that thang on everything. Definitely worth a try. We had the sampler appetizer each as our meal and that was a great choice, had a little bit of everthing and very filling. Really enjoyed the chicken slider and pulled pork nachos. Staff was very kind with that sweet southern charm. Took the food to go so I can’t really say too much about the ambiance but looked really laid back and casual. Cute rustic decor. Parking was easy with the parking lot in the back

First, for reference. I travel for a living and eat wings 3 to 4 times a week alll over America. Wings - TREMENDOUSLY GOOD. Seriously, these are some of the best smoked wings I've ever had. I just got them dry rubbed with Jamaican jerk. Ribs- Excellent, inside was very moist. The outside was a little overdone for my taste though. Brisket - OK.. it lacked the smoke flavor it should have had. Onion rings - They dont make these in house, they were average. Both sauces were very good. When I come back I will probably just get wings...but I may try the pork or chicken.

Very conveniently located adjacent to the Civil Rights Museum. I had high hopes, but unfortunately, the food let me down. I’ve ate 4-5 other barbecue places while in Memphis, and this is by far my least favorite. I only ate half my pork, and that’s usually my favorite part. The service seemed fine. The atmosphere was good. I would not return here

Skip this one. The greens were great & the meat was smoked well. Everything else sucked horribly. Very plain sandwiches. No sauce, no slaw... but asked for slaw, paid for slaw. Flies, gnats, bad service. Was told to stand here, not there, no here, not there, go here, sit there.. and it was hot. They don't believe in AC or pest control. Sauces were boring & no better than mcdonalds. They literally put all the sauce around the outside to make it look like they gave a damn. It was all over the paper they put your food on. Bun was dry. They wanted a tip but never came to see how we were doing, that we got what we paid for, or cqre how bad we were all sweating. The sides SUCKED (aside from greens). Potato salad was very vinegar forward and not good at all.
Jaclyn H — Google review
Coming from a Texan it ain't bad. Portion sizes were large. Meats -Ribs were the best. Normally not a rib guy but credit where it's due. It was good! -Pulled pork was tender and well shredded. Could've used a tad bit more seasoning -Brisket. Mine was dry. Not pleasant. Sides -Mac N cheese was solid. -BBQ Baked Beans were average but good Next time I'd try other meats and stay away from the brisket.
Steven C — Google review
I visited Central BBQ’s Downtown location specifically hoping to try their much-talked-about Banana Pudding. The location itself has a great vibe right in the heart of downtown, casual and welcoming with lots of foot traffic and a steady stream of customers. Unfortunately, by the time I arrived, they were already sold out of the Banana Pudding! Clearly, it’s an incredibly popular item and tends to go fast. The staff was friendly and helpful in letting me know about availability. I’d definitely recommend coming early if you’re specifically looking to try their desserts or signature items. I tried their coconut cake and chocolate cake. My hunt for the Banana Pudding continued at another location, but the Downtown branch itself definitely has a fun atmosphere and is a great option if you’re exploring the area.
Sahaj P — Google review
Central BBQ is a busy, buzzing spot — thanks in part to its prime location near the Civil Rights Museum. Expect a bit of a wait to order in, but honestly, you’ll need that time to scout out a table, grab a drink, and settle in. I went with the starter sampler and wow — this tray was loaded. If I had to rank the hits: 1. Pulled pork sandwich 2. BBQ Nachos 3. Smoked wings 4. Sausage Massive portions across the board, and the sandwich sizes looked just right for most appetites. The venue itself is big — lots of space and seating — and the vibe feels more like a Texas BBQ joint than some of the other Memphis spots I’ve visited, which gives it a broad, approachable feel. Delicious food, unbeatable location, great service, and fair prices. Definitely worth the stop — especially if you’re coming from or heading to the museum next door.

The Slave Haven Underground Railroad Museum, located at 826 N Second St, was a crucial stop on the Underground Railroad during the 19th century. This historic home, now a museum, played a significant role in aiding African-Americans seeking freedom from slavery. Visitors can explore the secret tunnels and trap doors used to shelter escaping slaves and gain insight into the perilous journey to freedom.
My husband and I attended a 1pm tour and we were not disappointed. The knowledge and facts of our history told here was appreciated and understood. If you haven’t been it’s a must. Affordable wisdom that is truly priceless.
Arniesa S — Google review
I would give this place 20 stars if I could!! Amazing, amazing experience where I learned SO much and it really helps give you perspective. Elaine Lee Turner gave us a fantastic tour!! This place was formally Jacob Burkle’s estate where he was an abolitionist that helped the enslaved escape. He even intentionally made his house with hiding places underneath and holes to let in light and air for the enslaved hiding beneath. We had the honor of standing in the basement space and they turned the light off and you immediately got a sense of what they felt being down there and adjusting to the darkness&thankful for the light that was coming through the holes. It was such a humbling experience. All these horrid acts led to the enslaved inventing Amazing ways to resist: -Drums were a form of communicating -Singing was a form of communicating too •The song Swing Low Sweet Chariot, had a metonymic double meaning. These double meanings allowed enslaved people to safely communicate messages of hope, freedom, and specific plans for escape to one another under the watchful gaze of their captors. For example, the song stood for Swing=run, Low=hide, etc etc -Quilts were a form of communicating by the secret patterns in the quilt pictures that were a guide to get to Canada. One could hang the quilt for a whole week. The first picture was of a mucket wrench which meant get your tools ready&to brake the shackles. Get ready mentally as well&learn the songs&the routes&signs of nature. Wagon wheel is a symbol of a free spirit and it turns north towards Canada. Cleveland Ohio had lake eerie that crosses over into Canada . Once you cross into Canada, You will be free but you will never see your family again.

Beautiful place!! My only disappointment is that we were not able to take the 3 hour tour (3/12/19). We were told it's only for groups on 10 and it has to be scheduled in advance. It's not clear on the website. The day we visited, there was enough people for 3 buses which would could have clearly generated a lot of money at $43 a person for the tour compared to $13 a person for the museum visit. Other than this, I was very pleased. I wish they would just have scheduled tours throughout the day. Just my opinion....
Shelly M — Google review
The light skinned young lady working there has a personality of gold, she's very knowledgeable and you can tell she enjoys what she does. I just hate that you can't take pictures once you enter, so you have to enter ready to listen and not have distractions. I took pics when I left out, just to bring back some memories. It's good learning the history of slaves, and what our ancestors had to go through for freedom if they had the courage to flee. It was a lot to take in in such a short time, the whole tour took maybe 1 hour, but it's well worth the visit.
KEA M — Google review
I arrived at 1 but they were filled for the day. But the guide was pleasant. She offered us some brochures to take should we ever come back to visit. She never came back though with the brochures. We did take pics outside.
Mitchells M — Google review
It was absolutely moving. As you walk through listening to the narration of the curator, the hair on the back of my necks stood up. Knowing that I was standing in the footprints of those that come before me to make that great passage of the Mississippi River. Absolutely must see!
Joseph G — Google review
This is the same place as the Burkle Museum, so I am entering the same review here. I enjoyed the tour, even though it's a small house it has displays in each room and well done pre-recorded audio with some history and stories on slavery in the US. At the end you see a small cellar and the crawl space below the house where they hid people. No pictures allowed inside. Free on-site parking.
Lisa S — Google review
A great place to visit while in Memphis and one I definitely recommend to others! Small, intimate tours are given by caring staff members, including a trip down to the actual cellar where slaves entered and sought shelter on their way to freedom. Tons of memorabilia, interesting local history, and powerful stories of our country’s very dark past make it a very emotional (but educational and meaningful) visit. No photos are allowed inside.

The Orpheum Theatre, a historic and opulent former opera hall in downtown Memphis, is a renowned venue hosting a variety of performances. From touring theater troupes to music acts, opera, ballet, and Broadway shows, the theater offers diverse entertainment options. It is also home to community events such as Memphis in May and special Elvis Week events. With its rich history and architectural significance, the Orpheum Theatre holds a place on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Orpheum is a Memphis treasure! The theater is absolutely gorgeous with beautiful decor and a wonderfully friendly staff to assist guests to their seats. The Broadway club was lovely and my wife and I enjoyed the view of Beale Street while sipping our pre show drinks. We went to see the production of A Beautiful Noise. It was fantastic. Box seats and Neil Diamond songs. What a great evening.
Josh M — Google review
I have visited the Orpheum for many events; plays, comedy shows and concerts. I find the pricing for the venue to be fair. The parking mostly accessible for those with walking impairments and the views pretty good for most places within the theater however there’s not much legroom if you’re over 5‘7 anywhere in the theater, unless you’re seated in a box in the lower balcony in the upper balcony leg room is horrible and so is the sound. This can be offset by renting available hearing devices from the coat room near the one elevator on the first floor concessions are also ridiculously high as they are in most places. Overall, a great experience and one of my favorite venues in the city. Just choose your seat carefully if you’re tall.

History Still Being Made, in the Present! Great venue ! Since some updating, place is more comfortable than it has ever been. Beautiful spot to have young adults take a part in - one of the best decisions that the district has made for its children. Orpheum rocks on ❤️
ARQue H — Google review
This "classic" theater is an absolute gem in downtown Memphis. It's a little island of art and culture in an area that's lost a lot of its appeal over the years. Pro tip: it's worth buying upgraded tickets to stay in the first or second levels. The 3 level is quite high & makes it hard to see the stage. Also keep your cups if you order alcoholic drinks. "Refills" cost less and you can reuse them in future occasions.

Elmwood Cemetery, established in 1852, is a historic landmark in Memphis with picturesque grounds adorned with monuments and mature trees. It serves as the final resting place for over 75,000 individuals, including Confederate soldiers and veterans, Union generals, author Shelby Foote, and victims of a yellow fever outbreak. Old. Extremely beautiful. You need graves and headstones. Interesting headstone. A gay man apparently. Buried with his identity?

We didn’t go too far into the cemetery, but what we did see was so cool! We had a wedding in the chapel right near the entrance. It was a smaller venue but it was just the right size for our group. It was unique and beautiful. I would highly recommend checking it out if you love history and well-kept grounds!

We loved our self-made wander-guided tour of historic Elmwood Cemetery. With 80 acres of beautifully kept grounds with personalized monuments dating back to 1852, it is a history buff's dream come true. This true Victorian garden style cemetery holds veterans of all American wars, madams, outlaws, senators, mayors, and people from all walks of life, including 1400 unidentified souls of the 5000 who died in Memphis during the yellow fever epidemic. We did the best we could to see as much as we could, but it is a multi-day adventure. Not to be missed if you come to Memphis and are interested in such things. Spectacular.

The history of how memphis started. If you know where to look it’s the good, the bad, and everything else. You have to come at least once a season and just walk around a section. Stories everywhere. Great tours audio and guided. Many special events to choose from. Come be a part of memphis history and if the bell rings, we’ll good news it’s not for you! Just step aside and be respectful. 😅 great place for nature and photos. I would simply bring concern to some of the long term upkeep. There seems to be a lot of damage from tractors etc, one section is falling into the interstate, and I don’t see maintenance on those, it’s actually more common in some of the newer section.

The Children's Museum of Memphis, established in 1990, offers a range of interactive permanent displays and traveling exhibits that provide valuable learning opportunities for kids. The museum aims to foster child development through various programs and exhibits designed to support enriched early learning in key domains identified by the United States Department of Education. Visitors can expect age-appropriate exhibits and interactive activities such as digital art, rock climbing, money management at the bank exhibit, the bubble garden, and more.
Brought my 3 year old son for the day and he had a blast! We were there for 4 hours and never got bored! So many different areas of play and learning! The place was very clean, the staff was kind and helpful, the price was cheap for what all they offer! We stayed inside but plan to go back to play in the outdoor areas!

The Children’s Museum of Memphis is absolutely amazing! It’s one of the best places in the city for kids to play, learn, and explore. Every exhibit is hands-on and interactive—whether it’s climbing through the Skyscraper, shopping in the mini-grocery store, exploring the firetruck, or even stepping inside a real airplane cockpit. The Grand Carousel is beautiful and a must-ride, and the splash park outside is perfect for hot days. The museum is clean, safe, and very well maintained. Staff members are friendly, welcoming, and clearly love working with kids. My family always spends hours here, and there’s something fun for every age. It’s the perfect mix of education and play, and you can easily come back again and again without running out of things to do.

Great museum. Big enough to enjoy, small enough to not be overwhelmed. There are some great pieces and exhibits in their. The one I enjoyed most was a large oil piece with angels looking down on bethlehem.....an amazing piece by a memphis native. The price for entry wasn't bad either.

Well it appears vets get in free. That was nice. I'm not $ure how much id pay to see B-list artists. No Gauguin, no Monet, no van Gough, no Renoir, no Degas, no Dali, no Picasso. But I don't mind B-list. I saw one E. Boudin, a Pissaro, WM Chase. And I'm not saying I only want Brad Pitt, I'm just saying if you're paying $14 per ticket and you love impressionism, there may be better options. So the more important question is, did I enjoy myself? Yes. It's a nice place, nice presentations, the art they did have was well chosen and interesting. It was walker accessible, too.

Located in a downtown alley, Charlie Vergos' Rendezvous is a renowned BBQ spot that has been serving up delicious racks of ribs and sausages since 1948. Known as "the 'Vous" to locals, this Memphis landmark offers a unique dining experience in its cavernous basement setting.
THE BEST RIBS IN THE WORLD!!! If I could give this restaurant 100 stars, I would! This restaurant has so much Memphis history! The ribs are so incredibly delicious! I've never eaten anything else there; I only come for the ribs! The staff is very friendly, and I've never had a better experience in Memphis. Last at Bass Pro recommended and it didn't disappoint. It was just me so I sat at the bar. Got the sausage and cheese. Which they have the stuff right there and boom it was in front of. Then brisket for dinner. It was very good. Glad I chose to come here as I was passing through!!

Lived up to its reputation.service and food was excellent. First time we had briskets with dry rub. Very tasty. Sides dishes were very tasty also. We liked the atmosphere. Good thing paid parking is next to the restaurant.
Sfiir V — Google review
TLDR: Sauce, beans, dry rub are all very good If you like fall of the bone ribs, these are not the ribs to go for. Brisket was good but not slow cooked the way I prefer. My job involves a ton of travel. Anytime I am in a “BBQ city” I like to give it a try. This was my first Memphis BBQ experience. For reference I like Texas Brisket and Carolina for pork. The ribs are cooked quickly and are more on the firmer side compared to “fall off the bone”. I actually prefer my ribs this way, but others expect fall off the bone. The brisket is also cooked quickly. The flavor in there but don’t expect a smoke ring or Smokey flavor. The star of this BBQ is the dry rub, sauce and baked beans. All of which were very flavorful. The atmosphere and servers are authentic and top tier. I’m sure that there are better spots in town for BBQ, but this one gets enough right in my opinion to stop by.

My husband has bragged up this place for years. Talking about ribs so good the juice runs out the side of your mouth when you bite into those ribs...We always have their bbq sauce in the fridge and seasoning in the cabinet . We love it. We were so thrilled to go! We were so disappointed. Super dry ribs and equally dry brisket.

Stopped at Charlie Vergil’s Rendezvous BBQ in Memphis and it was a great choice for classic smoked meats lovers. You can see why this restaurant remains open after so many years. Everything’s served up on a tray—simple, traditional, and full of flavor. Definitely not the spot for vegetarians, but if you’re into BBQ, it’s worth a visit.
Matthew E — Google review
10/5 - breaks the scale. This place is the real deal. Soon as you go down the stairs you know you’re in for something special. And boy, it’s special. The menu is tight - and they just nail everything. Want the best bbq nachos? They got you. Best bbq ribs ? That live up to the hype- and then some. The brisket? Bursting with complex flavors. Just two bbq sauces but when it’s that good you don’t need more. They’re also really fast at getting you food. The ambiance is stellar. Tom Lee Park, a 30-acre city park located along the Mississippi River in Memphis, has recently undergone a $61 million renovation. The park now offers an array of activities for families and visitors to enjoy. From a newly designed playground featuring climbable river creatures to a fitness zone and basketball courts, there are plenty of options for recreation. Amazing park for both adults and children of all ages! Plenty of accommodations, quiet spaces and history. Also has beautiful sunsets and hosts some of the best events the city has. Is 100% a must-visit part of Memphis!

The kids had a blast. It's a nice park. I wish it was more open spaces and you could see the water from the play areas. I miss the old park when it was a lot more green space.

This park is truly something special from all the rest I’ve seen so far! They have basically everything from kids play area, basketball court, workout spot, picnic area, walk/runway, Tom lee statue, great view, concession stands, hammocks, golf and great for content as well! Definitely recommend bringing your family, friends, date or even yourself to this amazing park!

Beautiful Park by the Mississippi River – A Perfect Spot for Everyone! This park, located right along the Mississippi River, is beautifully designed and perfect for a relaxing day outdoors. It offers well-maintained playgrounds for kids, a basketball court, and plenty of benches where you can sit and enjoy the scenic views. The mini-golf course is a fun addition, and the park facilities, including restrooms, are clean and well-kept. What’s especially great is that everything is wheelchair accessible, making it an inviting place for all visitors. The park is very clean and carefully maintained, making it a great destination for families, sports lovers, or anyone looking to unwind by the river.

The museum features interactive exhibits and rare memorabilia belonging to iconic figures such as Elvis Presley, Otis Redding, Johnny Cash, Isaac Hayes, and Jerry Lee Lewis.
Had a great time. Great music playing. Interactive. Loved the costumes and outfits on display. Great place to come and learn about Memphis history with the Blues. A lot of background information on musicians and song writers. Very small museum but packed full of history. We had a great time. If you really take the time to look and read and absorb the information you'll really enjoy it. Took about 50 mins to complete the full tour. Your is self guided. Music trivia at the end. Very reasonable price.

Very well done!!! Loved the audio aspect - you can go at your own pace, re-listen to anything, and listen to any (and all) of the songs on the multiple jukeboxes. Wonderful details - appreciated the period details! Great stop!

Good experience at Memphis Music Hall of Fame. One floor of fun with many costumes and memorabilia from a wide range of artists with roots in and around memphis. About a 40 minute self guided tour. Right off of Beale Street area.

My mother and I were looking for some low cost activities to do around Beale St while we were staying in Memphis, and found this gem! It was only $8 per adult, and we really enjoyed the museum and learning about Memphis music & Beale St history. Would definitely recommend a visit for any music or history lovers!

Saw some interesting things and learnt some things. Only $8. entry charge, so we'll worth the money.
Dennis S — Google review
For the cost, I did expect more from this museum. It was rather small and lacked some ‘excitement’ and celebration for the music of Memphis. There were good exhibits though and if you are looking for more to do in Memphis, check it out

I went to the Memphis music hall of fame yesterday and it was an amazing experience. Everything was so clean, they greeted us as soon as we stepped through the door. They were very nice and friendly. It is $8 per person. You can take an elevator to get to the hall of fame or you can climb up steps. It's a pretty easy walk up the steps. You get to the second floor and it's on the left. You walk in and instantly hit with some pretty cool stuff. There's a bench to sit on behind the ramp. There's bathrooms and water fountains down a hallway leading to some more stuff. You go up the ramp and are immediately hit with Memphis music history. From Elvis, three 6 mafia, and so many more. It's a great experience and I would recommend coming here. It's a blast learning about Memphis music history.
Preston S — Google review
It's quite a tiny museum with an odd arrangement which makes it tight to get around some of these displays. Many of the displays were covered in finger prints or smudges and dust which made it hard to read the ( very small printed) descriptions and writings. It's an inexpensive museum with some lower budget display / design layouts. I did enjoy the halved Cadillac!

The Lookout at the Pyramid is a one-of-a-kind 28th-floor American destination with artistic and industrial touches, featuring an aquarium bar and observation decks. This iconic spot is part of the Bass Pro Shop at the Pyramid in Memphis, which offers an extraordinary retail experience along with unique attractions such as a cypress swamp filled with wildlife, a bowling alley, and a hotel designed like a luxurious lodge. Visitors can also explore boats, ATVs, shooting ranges, and more.
The Lookout Restaurant at the Pyramid offers a very cool and unique experience from start to finish. The elevator ride to the top is thrilling and sets the tone for what’s to come. I had the salmon with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The food was phenomenal with amazing presentation and flavour. Our server Allen was absolutely hilarious and took excellent care of our table, making the evening even more enjoyable. We also had professional photos taken and hand-delivered to us in a beautiful frame, which was such a thoughtful touch. Highly recommend for both the food and the unforgettable atmosphere!
Demi R — Google review
My visit to The Lookout at Big Cypress Lodge was such a thrilling experience! The adventure started with a nerve-wracking ride up the tallest freestanding elevator in the country, soaring 300 feet to the top. As someone who’s a bit scared of heights, I was hesitant at first, but the ride was surprisingly smooth and worth the trip once I stepped out onto the observation deck. It's also free to ride for hotel guests but all others get charged a fee. The design of the restaurant is really creative. I loved the floating metal fish artwork overhead, which gave the whole space a whimsical, underwater feel. The circular bar with its beautiful fish tank centerpiece was a major wow factor too The furniture and decor have a modern yet rustic vibe that really fits the overall lodge atmosphere. The designers really knew what they were doing! The food was good. We started with the shrimp appetizer however, which was so spicy it set our mouths on fire! Thankfully, the cocktails were top-notch and helped cool things down. I especially loved their espresso martini, it was rich and smooth made just right. After dinner, we walked around the observation area. The panoramic views were breathtaking. It was really peaceful, and perfect for taking in Memphis from above. I also appreciated how safe it felt, with reinforced glass and secure railings that made it easy to enjoy the view without worry. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience that blended adventure, good food, and stunning scenery. If you’re visiting Memphis, The Lookout at Big Cypress Lodge is absolutely worth a visit especially if you want something unique and unforgettable.

Service was not on its game the night I came. It was hard to get a menu let alone served and the restaurant was barely half full on a Saturday. You must have a reservation to sit anywhere but the bar. A salad takes about 30 minutes to be brought out. Water also tastes of a chemical I couldn’t put my finger on, not dish soap but a chemical for sure. I would recommend sitting next to some nice Texans that make wonderful conversation while waiting about 45 minutes for their meal.
T M — Google review
Excellent! The hostess was very helpful when making reservations and getting our desired table for the night. Anna was friendly and provided great service. Our food and cocktails were amazing. The Red Fish with crab is life changing!! Also loved that a photographer was available to do a nice photo on the look out deck in front of the bridge. Overall, fantastic experience. Highly recommend.
Angela P — Google review
Be aware that it costs $8 for adults ($5 per child) to even go up the elevator to eat. The main website states that, but the food reservation site does not. Once you're up, you can go in and out of the observation deck as much as you want until about 7pm. Leaving is awkward for later reservations because the main store below is closed, so you are either guided out, or asked to go through Wahlburgers if you parked out back. Service was a bit rough, and it took a while to get things brought out. The menu is VERY small and changes often, so don't trust online menus. For the price, I think MOST of the portions were decent. Food: Bourbon wing appetizer: AMAZING, great sauce, and large chicken wings Smokehouse Bacon Burger: Pretty good flavor, but no condiments. Great fries Fried Catfish Sandwich: Disappointing. Very small piece of fish with little flavor Spinach (side): Terrible. Literally just cooked spinach in a cup. No seasoning or onion or garlic or aromatic herbs or anything. Decent drinks but a little pricey.
Joshua E — Google review
I LOVED this place. The price does seem like a lot, but you get your moneys worth. The bourbon wings were our appetizer. They are so delicious. Make sure you ask for a couple extra plates to come with it, though. My wife ordered the bourbon salmon, and I got the bourbon glazed pork chop. The food was phenomenal, and the view was gorgeous. The pork was very juicy and the bourbon glaze was so good. The flavors were so perfect. My wife said the salmon was a stretch for her to order, but she was far from disappointed. I also tried a bite and it was very flavorful and juicy. The sweet tea is homemade every day according to our waitress, and it tasted amazing. Finally, I was to thank our waitress, Dominique. She was so sweet and definitely made the experience worth it. She kept our drinks full and made us smile. If you are reading this, Dominique, thank you for serving us!
Alex S — Google review
Quite a unique dining experience with no complaints other than these: - Despite having a reservation in hand, you still have to pay $8 per person to ride the elevator up. I'd understand paying if you were a walk-in trying to avoid the observation fee but not with a paid for reservation. - The bathrooms were not well cared for, damp, and dank. - The water tasted like the bathroom smelled. - The prices are about what you'd expect at a tourist trap. I'd say the view justifies the extra cost...but I already paid for the view (see the first bullet)! Other than that: - The wait staff was immaculate, attentive, and friendly. - The pimento cheese appetizer was delicious, and the cheese cake was divine. - The redfish and crab entree was good. The mushrooms were a little under done, and the fish was a little over done for my taste, but the flavor was solid. - Of course, the views were great being perched on a pyramid!
Daniel R — Google review
The only thing good about this restaurant is the view, the drinks and the bartender Raymond. The pork chop looked amazing but was so dried out. The salmon was really fishy and the chicken was just mushy. In my opinion, it is just over priced food. Save yourself the money and eat downstairs.

Small intimate museum located in two old, restored 2 story buildings/homes plus a small outdoor sculpture garden and gazebo. There is also a detached building where craftsmen work, they were very friendly and engaging, willing to answer questions. Whole visit took 1 hour even with us taking our time perusing the gift shop, which was a bit pricey with more higher end, gallery like items. Worth checking out once!

Personally, I really enjoyed it. Everyone was cheerful, exhibits where well displayed and had Audio tours. Indoor and outdoor exhibits and so much to appreciate it's unreal. Don't have time to label all the pictures. The radiator was not part of an exhibit, I asked specifically. 😂😂😂

We are doing the Tennessee whiskey trail , so had to stop in while in Memphis. Bartenders were great nice atmosphere, tours are available but we opted just for a flight since the last one had already started. Only con was they were out of poker chips. Was promised they would mail out so I will check in a few weeks.

I gave it 5 stars because I can't give it 6. We did the tour, Keith was our guide, he was just awesome, he knew his stuff, he was funny, polite, informative and someone I could be friends with. Afterwards, at the tasting, we indulged in a few other products, which we subsequently purchased. If you are in Memphis, even if you are only passing through, stop in, do the tour, buy stuff and tell Keith the two Aussies say hi.

Did the tasting tour and had a great time! I’ve been here plenty of times for events, but never for the tour. Now I can finally cross it off my list (even though I’ll definitely be back…because, it’s me lol) The space is gorgeous, our guide was super knowledgeable, the group size was perfect, and the variety of tastings kept it interesting. Once the tour wraps, you can slide straight to their in-house cocktail bar…or go grab Gus’s Chicken across the street. IYKYK!

Did the Beyond the Barrels tour and had a great time. John was our tour and tasting guide and made the whole thing fun. The walk you through the whole process of distilling from start to finish. Came here after crossing paths with the owner at a nearby restaurant. I stopped by around 10pm which was still pretty early so entry was free and there were only a few folks there. The staff was really nice. The music was a mix of old school and new school. I left a little after 1am and the ppl were still coming in. Came here last year with my friend, first ones in, last ones out. The DJ that was there on a weekend in mid October in 2024 was the best DJ ever! He kept the energy up and made sure my friend and I were dancing all night long! Even got to dance with Paula the owner! Great vibe, great staff, hell of a time. Paula & Raiford's Disco is not just a bar, it's an experience. I went when it was on Vance street 27 years ago then just recently went back to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday there. It did not disappoint. The only thing that has changed is the songs that are played and of course not seeing Railford's smile. It used to Purple Rain, Back to the Hotel, and Pu--y Control. If you are in Memphis, experience the one and only Paula & Raiford's Disco!
Jodee M — Google review
Went here about a month ago, if it weren’t for the staff, I would’ve given 5 stars, as every patron was super nice and friendly. Every time I went to the bar I was met with attitude by a specific bartender. The second time I approached it, instinctively pulled out my card to pay when it’s a cash only bar, that’s fine, I apologized and I immediately tried to pull out cash and she walked away, I kept trying to grab her her attention only to be ignored. ADDITIONALY, they had a security guard on the dance floor that kept trying to touch my shoulder and run off laughing like it was ok. I did not know this man and he kept doing it for about 30 mins. Made me extremely uncomfortable.
Keshaun B — Google review
This is a nice and safe place to visit, everyone was nice and they have great security. But oh my it’s expensive, and it’s cash only. My wife and I came here on a Saturday and it was $30/person. By the time we both got in, got a can of Coke and a Modelo we had spent $73.

Great, friendly, helpful staff! Clean facility! Had a great time! Will be back! They let the kids run around the bases at the end of the game and they all had a great time! We went to the park to attend the Iowa State pep rally prior to the Liberty Bowl football game. The location is wonderful, clean and the staff working the concessions were friendly and prompt. The seating was plentiful and comfortable. While we didn't see a baseball game, I was impressed by the quality of the field. I'm sure seeing a game there is a great experience. Parking is available via the numerous parking garages around the stadium. Location-wise, you are only steps away from Beale Street, which makes post event activities even more accessible.

Enjoyed it overall. 2nd deck seats are a rarity in milb. Gorgeous inside and out. Great views from 200 level. Plan your parking. Be ready to have to download an app, city of Memphis enforces non-working card swipe meters. Redbirds have gone digital tickets ONLY. Fine for locals, not so when you've driven 7 hrs and not coming back with possible rain in the forecast=not prebuying. Cashless? Great. Digital tickets? They're a fail. Everywhere. No one has this figured efficiently yet. Apparently my phone wasn't bright enough. The restrooms need refurbishing. It's a 22 yr old stadium, it's due, it's not a big ask. You're AAA PCL. Death by 1000 cuts getting in. 2 stars trying to get in 5 stars once in. Seriously have a plan better than we did getting in if you are like us visiting multiple minor league parks on a road trip.
Mickey M — Google review
Made a trip to Memphis, not for baseball but since we are Cardinals fans, and red access members in Springfield Missouri we thought it’d be fun to see the boys that use to be in Springfield. The stadium is run down, there’s no energy in the ballpark. The players seem defeated before they even start. We are very Disappointed with our triple a ballpark visit versus the double a we are use to. Hope they figure it out because 800-900 fans per game won’t keep the doors (gates) open.

This hotel is beautiful! I stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed the hotel! The lobby and event centers were very nice! My only complaint is the small size of the bathroom I had, luckily the Air Conditioning in the room worked very well or the stay would've been very different but luckily it was working very well! Very nice amenities in the room, TV was nice and modern, like I said the bathroom was very small when sitting on the toilet my legs against the door and the wall. But other than that a very nice hotel! Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The Christmas brunch was definitely overpriced. Everything was tolerable. With a few enhancement it could be good, first the two old white men that was entertainment it’s time to retire them get some young blood up in there. The mimosas should be upon availability during entrance at the price your paying among other items However it was an experience.

B.B. King's Blues Club, located at the top of Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee, is a vibrant spot where blues enthusiasts can savor live music and indulge in Southern culinary classics. The venue offers a mix of soulful blues, rock and roll, and classic soul for an unforgettable night out. Guests can relish delicious BBQ meals while grooving to the lively blues band or hit the dance floor to mingle with locals.
We had such a memorable evening at B.B. King's Blues Club in Memphis! I’ve always wanted to check out this legendary club and was excited to finally have a chance to go! It felt like an especially perfect time to be there since it was a celebration of 100 years for B.B. King! The vibe is electric, you can feel the energy in the place radiating! We showed up on a busy Friday night without reservations, and they managed to get us a table, which was a nice surprise. The music was phenomenal. Several musicians came on and played everything from blues to soulful jazz and even a bit of rock mixed in. The $10 cover was a great bargain for the quality of the performances. As for the southern food, it was a little too fried for me but the group I was with really enjoyed it. The fried okra was a good addition on the menu. The cocktails were creative and fun as well adding to the whole experience. Overall, this place is a must-visit for anyone who loves live music, comfort food, and a little bit of living history!

First time visiting Memphis and I wanted to check out BB Kings based on their reviews. I ordered fried okra, side of Mac n cheese, and a combined shrimp and catfish platter. Pros: the portions are a decent size, so I was able to order one platter and share with my 12 years old. The platter only came with one piece of fish but since we had the okra as a starter and Mac n cheese as a side (upcharge) it was more than enough. The Mac n cheese was good, very creamy and flavorful. The food was also hot and the service was great. The okra was very good as well, mostly because the sauce really kicks it up a notch. I also really enjoyed the hush puppies that came with the platter. Cons: in terms of the flavor of the fish and shrimp, it was okay but not great. For me, it wasn’t stand out or unique in any type of way. Would I recommend. Yes. The restaurant does play music so it can get kind of noisy and it was kid friendly (We went earlier in the evening).

So fun!!! Walked in for dinner and also enjoyed a great band. (There is a cover charge for adults.) Ron was a fantastic waiter!! Took very good care of us - my delicious sweet tea was never empty! Ribs were fall off the bone delicious and the shrimp and grits were so good!! We added hush puppies - a very good idea on our part. It was all so good!!! Service, food, atmosphere... perfect!! Only negative - the men's bathroom attendant was rude to my 15 year old (no reason, uncalled for!)

We tried 3 different ribs places and this was definitely the best place! The ribs were fall off the bone and had great flavor. The sides were good as well but nothing amazing our favorite. The vibes were great since there was a live band. The service was very nice and attentive.

Went in the evening right before catching the grizzlies game. $10 cover for live music. But it’s worth the overall experience. Grab a drink and enjoy the music and food. The shrimp and grits is in my top 3 of all time. Would go back in a heartbeat

Best Halloween spot one could have asked for. Live music + nachos made me extremely happy. I also love that you can watch the band from down on the floor, as well as from the upper gallery. Staff was dressed up too, Beale Street in general is always an adventure. The vibe overall was unforgettable.

Our server was great! When I ordered Non alcoholic Shirley temples, she gave my daughter extra Cherries 🍒. Rib was good but not the best. Nachos are 10+. It was just us three, and we shared our food and asked for extra plates. It wasn’t busy when we went and we saw the band setup their gear while we ate at the second floor. Overall it was good.

Cozy Corner Restaurant is a long-standing favorite for barbecue enthusiasts in Memphis. Established over two decades ago, it has become a beloved spot for classic Memphis pork ribs and other intriguing specialties. The restaurant's no-nonsense setting adds to its charm, making it a must-visit for those craving authentic barbecue flavors. In addition to the traditional offerings, Cozy Corner also stands out with unique dishes like whole Cornish Hen and turkey, available with advance notice.
If I could give Cozy Corner Restaurant more than 5 stars, I would. I ordered the ribs, and let me tell you, these aren’t just good ribs… these are life-changing ribs. The flavor hits you like a smoky, savory hug, the meat falls off the bone like it’s been waiting its whole life for this moment, and that sauce… oh man, the sauce! Perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and smoky with just the right kick. Every bite felt like a celebration of BBQ done right. I’ve had ribs all over Memphis, but this? This is the standard now. Cozy Corner isn’t just serving food, they’re serving happiness on a plate. If you’re in Memphis and you don’t eat here, you’re missing out on what might just be the best BBQ experience of your life. Period.

Not much to look at from the outside but the food was delicious especially the cakes and the rib tips were so dang tender. We got the hot sauce but it wasn’t spicy. The potato salad was yummy. I wasn’t a fan of the baked beans. I definitely think the cakes are better than the peach cobbler.
Jennifer D — Google review
My fiancé and I stopped here after hearing so much positive feedback about the BBQ and now, we can add to it. We got a slab of ribs, smoke sausage, potato salad, and baked beans. The ribs were tender and smoked just right, fall off the bones. Potato salad was good, could’ve used a little more pickle relish but still amazing. The baked beans had no meat but a great taste of smoke. The smoked sausage was a last minute add on and was really good. I’ve eaten at just about all the BBQ spots and this Has to be the BEST. Highly recommend and will be back. I’m actually going to get some this week and vacuum seal them and send them to my aunt in Virginia. Well done Cozy Corner👍🏾💯

Great spot. I ordered a two wing/two rib plate with fries, and beans, plus a pound of rib tips. All the meats were fantastic, ribs and rib tips especially. The beans have a really nice unique flavor I couldn't put my finger on, but very good. I'm used to fairly expensive Texas BBQ, so I found CC to be very affordable, sandwiches and sandwich plates are very fairly priced. I think I spent about $32 or so, plus I grabbed a sliced pork sandwich plate for my mom on the way out for like $9. Very friendly people, the manager was walking the floor checking on customers and making sure everyone was happy which I always appreciate. All in all a place I would absolutely visit again if I find myself in Memphis. Thank you!

This amazing corner is where it pops!!!! I came in for lunch and it was the BEST BBQ BURGER!!!! Full of flavor on a soft bun with mild bbq sauce and a side of coleslaw, super delicious!!! Inside is simple, nothing crazy… has a Cozy Corner inside of the shop that accommodates 8 guests. Plenty of sitting room. Took me long to come here, but I regret nothing going there sooner. This is a Valdi approved joint!!!!

First time here after looking up bbq spots in Memphis. Cozy Corner did not disappoint! I got the 2 rib + 2 wing plate with double potato salad. My husband got the brisket sandwich. He asked about how much fat comes on the sandwich & although we were told not a lot, it was slightly too much on there for him. However, the flavor was amazing & the bread it was on was very soft. As for my food, it was all I hoped it would be after seeing this place on TikTok. The flavor was there but not salty which I appreciate greatly. The meat was cooked perfectly. Not dry at all nor undercooked. It really reminded you of the grilling Uncle at your family’s cookout. The potato salad was good, the potatoes could have been cooked a smidge longer but the flavor was a lil sweet with a good twang from the mustard. Overall, we’ll be back! Highly recommend!

As a Texan, I have always wanted to try Memphis barbecue, and boy o boy, we were not disappointed. We found this spot on our way through right off the interstate. The ribs were meaty and tender, and although the sauce was very different than what we were used to, it was still delicious. The bbq beans were baked in that sauce and to me seemed a little sweet but not bad, potato salad was good and fries nice and crispy. People were friendly and price for what you get is very reasonable. If you’re in the area, give this spot a try. It may not be pretty on the outside, but your taste buds and stomach will thank you.

The Cotton Museum at the Memphis Cotton Exchange is housed in the circa-1939 building that was once the epicenter of cotton trading. It showcases the history of cotton and its connection to slavery, offering exhibits on trading practices, grading processes, and the crop's impact on the South. The museum is located at a historic landmark with a floor that can be rented for special events. Visitors can step onto the legendary floor where cotton traders once played a pivotal role in the global cotton economy.
I really enjoyed this museum. I had no idea the depth of an impact cotton had on so many aspects of life. This museum teaches you about cotton trading, slavery, minstrel shows, blues music, etc. You also learn about how cotton fabric used to be made and how it is made now. It is a small museum, but I still spent a fair amount of time there as there was a lot to read and quite a few videos I could watch. There are two sections, one that is more catered to adults, and one about cotton today that is more kid friendly.
Katelynn P — Google review
It's really interesting museum once you understand what all you're looking at. It's a small museum. I think if someone was there to explain the process of field to market, it would be very educational! I work at a cotton gin so I already understood it. We were in Memphis for the Farm & Gin Show so I took our employees. Our guys learned a few things that they didn't even know. So it was a win for us.
Sandra M — Google review
The Cotton Museum is on the floor of the refurbished Memphis Cotton Exchange. The museum does an excellent educational job, using several strategically located multi-media tools, with places to sit for a bit, to describe the role cotton played in the world, as well as in the States, and particularly in the South and Memphis. You will learn how King Cotton shaped the economy, as well as the cultural identity of the area, especially its profound influence on music—including the birth of the blues—in Memphis. This museum was simply a little gem. It is also good for children as they will learn about the cotton plant, the effect of boll weevils, and they can even card some cotton for a real live experience. The gift shop gives plenty to explore and take away…a lovely few hours.
Lori A — Google review
The building and exhibits are immaculate. It illustrates how cotton influenced the south and the role played by the exchange. We spent just over an hour in the museum, which cost us $9/senior adult. The experience is well worth the price of admission. Very informative.

Staff was very friendly and helpful, thank you for helping us to have a good visit!

Such a history rich museum. There is a room about the industry then a room about cotton itself as a commodity! Clean bathroom in the museum also.

Marvelous old outdoor amphitheater in Overton Park is a great place to watch a concert. Outdoors, so it may be hot during the summer. But when the sun starts to set the trees provide shade. There are food trucks and restrooms. It can be crowded, so you may want to arrive early. Parking is difficult, and you may only find a place on the streets in the park. Bring your own lawn chairs, picnic chairs, and blankets. Prepare to wait when the concert is over to exit the park.

The Mississippi River Museum, located on Mud Island Park, offers a fascinating exploration of the history and science related to life on the Mississippi River. The museum features exhibits that focus on engineering, boats, and the muddy waters of the river. Visitors can learn about the river's 10,000-year history through thousands of artifacts, a large aquarium, and a replica of an antique steamboat.
First looks can be deceiving from the parking lot it looks pretty worn down, but this is a really cool place. Beautiful view of the Mississippi river. Great museum its pretty large, could spend a few hours looking/reading. They have a miniature scale mississippi river in which kids were playing. It was really hot (101) so being able to come in and out of the air condition was good, and we cooled off with some ice cream from the cafe. All the staff we encountered were very friendly. If you enjoy history, and beautiful sights I recommend visiting.
Jessica Y — Google review
We did not know that Mud Island Bridge was closed down. It was a total disappointment. We saw other people there like us, who were also trying to figure out that it was "temporarily" closed. This place has NO bathrooms. Elevator to the top still works but there is nothing opened, no employees, NOTHING except the buildings themselves, the display on the ground (long walk but super interesting!) and the view of the Mississippi river. The bridge was still opened to pedestrians (although we did not walk it so it might not be..?) The view from the top was a lovely treat. Parts of the rooftops are caving in. Be prepared to explore at your own risk.
Lynet W — Google review
This museum is well worth stopping for, we spent about 3 hours in here. The exhibits start from the Prehistoric age and run through the rivers glory years to the Civil War, to modern times. They have a Rivier model outside showing where the river starts and how it has it tributaries and where it dumps into the Gulf of Mexico. The only problem is the exterior of the building, it does seem a bit run down. We went before Memorial Day so the gift shop was closed and the cafe was being renovated, they do have an elevator for the disabled, HCA restrooms and water fountains. We were told that the other shops were scheduled to open a few weeks after we went there so hopefully others can enjoy this place also.
Nobody S — Google review
This museum seems innocuous, and the initial room seems somewhat dry, but it gets so much better! Walk-through replicas of steam and armoured boats and interactive displays really bring the history of the area to life. Shame the cafe and shop are closed during 'off' season, but still well worth a visit

Underrated area of Memphis. Beautiful museum that has a great summary of knowledge for anyone visiting from out-of-town that wants to brush up on the history of the area. Access to it via the tram or overhead walkway offers some great views. The massive model they have of the Mississippi River is also great to see.

Great place to bring the kids for a small day trip. Inside the museum there are many exhibits on life on the river, from early settlers to the birth of the blues and rock and roll. Or kids especially love the full scale steamboat and civil war battle ship exhibit. Outside the museum, and free to visit, is a model of the complete Mississippi River system, with running water that you can wade in.

This place is located in a cemetery. It is a man made cave. It is free to go. There is not a lot of parking as parking is on the side of the road inside of the cemetery. The cave depicts the life of Jesus. There is an actual shrine to Jesus as you walk in and people leave money there but if you don’t want to participate in that you don’t have to. You can walk around this small cave and get a glimpse into Jesus’ life. It is a cave and there is no A/C so it is hot in the summer and has an interesting smell. But overall, it’s a great place to go, especially if you are a follower of Jesus. It is super kid friendly and your kid can learn more about Jesus’ life.

This place was AWESOME! We were 3 adults and it was great can't imagine if we were kids. Its interactive, educational and staff were super nice. The escape room was fun and the fire simulator room was beyond COOL! Everything was nicely laid out and very clean as you'd expect in a firehouse. The kids play area was even fun for us!

Fire Museum is such a great place to take your kids! It’s never crowded and doesn’t take a ton of time to get through. I would say maybe an hour and a half to two hours. My kids always have so much fun in the play space where they can pretend to drive the fire truck and go down their fire pole. I think it’s a great mix of history and play. We all owe our life saver firemen a visit to their museum! Will be back and allow more time need at least two hours.

This museum is a treasure. I’m so amazed at how well it’s kept. All the vintage machines and history are amazing. The people that staff this place are great and they are proud firefighters. Absolutely incredible museum paing homage to past and present firefighters. Wonderful interactive displays. Truly a unique and enjoyable experience.

The lady behind the counter was a pleasure to deal with, she was informed, polite and very accommodating. The two gentlemen who were looking after the interactive exhibit were exactly the same. They had no hesitation in fielding questions, showing us around or just being fantastic hosts. They even let my grown son ring the bell, as it was. If you are in Memphis, stop on in, have a look, you won't regret it.

The Withers Collection Museum & Gallery is a captivating destination that immerses visitors in the rich tapestry of Memphis's civil rights history through the remarkable work of Dr. Ernest Withers, an iconic photographer. This museum boasts an extensive archive of over a million images that document significant events from the civil rights movement, music evolution, and sports milestones. As you wander through its halls, you'll encounter powerful visual narratives capturing critical moments like the sanitation workers' strike and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Very moving and powerful. Beautiful photos of a tough subject. It is very important that the world has these so we do not forget. Staff was very friendly and you can purchase prints.
Sammi S — Google review
absolutely striking and breathtaking photography and museum. documents the civil rights movement from a prominent black photographer at the time and is insanely moving. can’t even put it into words; just go. and it’s worth any donation you have. (moving from social importance to business) BUT i planned on giving $10-$20 per person as a donation when i arrived , but the lady at the front was remarkably forceful about taking my money (and honestly looking back i would have given more). but the lady at the entrance insisted i give a certain amount of money before entering …… which is illegal for a nonprofit to do. i used to run a nonprofit and if people didn’t want to pay, then so be it despite how important or recreational i thought our facility was - if they choose to take advantage then that’s on them. she would not let us enter unless we paid a certain amount. i understood the importance of the place and reveled in its history but nonetheless left with a sense of forced goodwill. i don’t like that - i planned to contribute more than what she asked regardless. but i asked about donation and she said i couldn’t enter unless i donated x amount. ?? i was going to give more than that but why treat visitors / patrons who are genuinely trying to learn and grow with such brashness and distain ? you should go but you should also check someone who forces you to give more money than you are able or willing ….. when you already planned on giving more. just rude. loved the museum tho but their focus on extorting poor people who want to learn and grow has GOT to be checked.

Huge collection of BW photos. Nothing I cared to purchase; had the feel of “photographer’s second /third choice.” Some very interesting historical figures. The hostess was preoccupied with a personal crisis so I can’t speak to friendliness.

The state park offers several trails, a pool, picnic areas and birdwatching spots. The park is also home to the Fuller State Golf Course which was the second in the nation to allow African Americans access.
Nice shady spots and pretty level.New bathrooms were 5* clean and spacious. And AC in 90+ degrees was a big plus. I met both park rangers and very hospitable. If you are camping there you can go to Choctaw Indian Village There for free. Ran by Univ. Of Memphis. Mounds and replica hut along with an interesting museum.

On vacation in Memphis and we always like to check out the various state parks in the areas that we visit. Drove through the campground area as we do have a camper, but flew into Memphis for this vacation. Looks like a newer bathhouse. Sites seemed to be set up to be parallel to the road on many of them. Some were butted against the woods, which we like, but not all sites were roomy. Chucalissa Indian Village and C. H. Nash Museum is within the park.

Went on a Scouts of America camping trip. The camp area was awesome, open space, and a shaded area. And the restrooms and shower area ,, has to be the best of them all. I will not spoil it ,, you have to go check this Park out for yourself.

Good stuff- pretty good location for travelers - not too far off the highway. Good location if you are visiting the area for a day or two. Ranger is very close to campsites and makes the rounds often. Lots of trees and very little noise. Dump station has nice big pull through and well kept. Reasonable camp fees for a state park. Bad stuff- portable showers and portapotty. Bathhouse is closed and there are little trees growing from the gutters. Our water spigot handle was missing.... challenging to turn water on and off. Grass was high and lots of low tree limbs- hazard for tall RVs.

The grounds were well kept. The bathroom was clean. I saw a nice basketball court and a swimming pool. The pavilion was a nice size and the grill was a little larger than expected. There may be other options for sports that I'm not aware of, but what I did see was impressive.

Pretty little campground in southwest Memphis. Unfortunately it’s in the middle of a scary part of town. The campground is nice with water and electric sites and an awesome locked bathhouse with an attached locked laundry. Both need a code to unlock. Best shower I’ve had since I left Texas eight months ago. The local law enforcement and rangers patrol often at the campground so it feels safe despite the surrounding area. There was one campground host in an old rv covered by a blue tarp. It was not hooked to any water so I assumed the plumbing didn’t work. I saw the host washing dishes at a hose on the site next door. I was sad to see this and had a hard time believing that the park administration allowed such an eyesore to stay at the campground. The host could not help us when we arrived at our site that was occupied by other campers. We had had our reservations for over a month. I’m not sure what the host does except live there. There are nice hiking trails here, though they could use some maintenance. There are rail trails nearby. Just be careful where you go. Don’t stop in areas with bars on the windows. Lots of shopping nearby. Again… don’t stop in neighborhoods with barred windows. Bass Pro Pyramid is awesome.
Lori G — Google review
We spent several nights in this hidden gem. The sites are well maintained. There is laundry and ice are available on site. Firewood is available at the visitor center. The host is great. The host is very friendly and outgoing. She is knowledgeable about the area and the happenings in the park. When storms were expected she made sure to let us know in time so we could store the gear that we brought that couldn't get wet. (We were in a tent). Later a ranger came around to remind us where the emergency shelter was located.
Barbara D — Google review
Perfect location, nice sites, and clean restrooms that include a laundry. The camping fee includes admission to the Chucalissa indigenous archaeological site that is adjacent to the campground. It was interesting to learn that the campground is named after an African-American pastor in Memphis, who in the early 20th century was the first to establish a church solely as a Black pastor rather than with the previous requirement that doing so also include a White person.

Nestled in the charming Victorian Village district of Memphis, Tennessee, the Mallory-Neely House stands as a stunning testament to early Victorian architecture. Built in 1852, this magnificent 25-room mansion invites visitors to step back in time and explore its beautifully preserved interiors adorned with original furnishings from the 19th century. Originally owned by Isaac and Lucy Kirtland, it later became home to Columbus and Frances Neely and their five children.
Five stars because of Mark’s fantastic personality and AMAZING wealth of information about the house and Memphis history; I must have asked him thirty questions and he was kind enough to answer them all with precision and excellence! Now, for the house itself: it is beautiful and quite imposing on the outside. On inside you can tell that the house is in a long-term period of repair and updating. The third floor is not accessible nor are there any plans to access it, and the second floor is about 45% restored. The first floor is beautiful and has had the most amount of restoration and work done to it. During the tour Kate did an excellent job of providing information and answering questions. I have toured a lot of Victorian homes in the tri-state area and this home is probably in the earliest stages of interior restoration. For the price ($16) I’d say it’s a pretty good experience overall. The good news is that almost all of the furnishings in the house are original to it, which is really rare as far as these Victorian homes are concerned.

What a beautiful mansion, and with such a fascinating history! Touring the Victorian villa sends you back in time, through Memphis' past and across generations. From the darker ground floor, still decorated as it would've been back in the days, to the decidedly lighter and more modern first floor, you'll find new amazing items and remnants from the house's inhabitants behind every corner. Our guide Mark was fantastic, extremely knowledgeable, fun and chatty. You could tell he had a passion for history in general and the Mallory-Neely House in particular. Don't miss this gem when in Memphis!

Beautiful. This is next door to my favorite house. But the Mallory-Neely House is gorgeous too! It’s incredible to see the story behind this beautiful house. The amazing story of the sisters and the life of this house is awesome! It really is amazing in person! The staff were very nice.

Had the most lovely tour giving by a very entertaining guide named Marcus. The house was spectacular, having all the original furniture and fixtures you really feel your back in the late 1800's a must see in the heart of Memphis in the Victorian Village.

This house stayed in privately owned until the property was turnwd over to the state. The decor is dark one the first floor but lighter on the second floor. Almost all of the furnishings are original.

We had a great experience walking through this mansion that was built in 1854. Out Tourguide: Mr. Scott was wonderful showing us every nook and cranny. The stories he told us regarding the Yellow Fever and finances of families that occupied the home throughout the years. He was very busy that day and still kept us going through nicely. We enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you all. 👍💞🫠

The C.H. Nash Museum Chucalissa, named after the Choctaw term for "abandoned house," offers a glimpse into the 15th century AD with its reconstructed Native American village and authentic artifacts. Operated by the University of Memphis, this museum features an active archaeological site used for training archaeologists and educating visitors about early Native American life.
My kids and I visited Chucalissa about two weeks ago and it was an absolute joy. There is a short film, a small but detailed museum, a replica building, as well as a hiking trail. We did not get a chance to do the hiking trail although if we are in the area again we will definitely go earlier so that we are able to experience that trail. There was also an attached kid-friendly archaeological site. This entire experience was extremely educational and my son has been loving the coloring book that I purchased for him from the gift shop. If you are in the Memphis area and looking for something low-cost to do I would absolutely visit this museum.

Quite interesting information about the Indigenous communities that lived here until about 1600 CE. Staff are helpful and the museum Is a mix of dated and more current information...much of it pretty well done. The signage outdoors on the site has sadly fallen into disrepair.
Anne C — Google review
The grounds are a bit dated but it’s a very important site and the museum is very up to date and the exhibits are informative. The staff is dedicated and knowledgeable. They truly care. This place deserves more attention.
Jessica C — Google review
This was the worst maintained native american archaeological museum/park I’ve ever visited. Dilapidated and neglected. The movie in the visitors center wasn’t working. All the signs on the trail were worn and falling apart. No attempt from the employee to engage us and at least tell us something about the museum. The only positive thing to say was the weather was nice. I will not return or recommend. The University of Memphis needs to address the condition of this historical site. Better yet let the National Park Service take it over.
C J — Google review
A good quantity of artifacts can be seen in the small museum. Not a lot to see outside and the signs are in really bad conditions.

I was fortunate to have visited this wonderful museum! The staff members are very friendly and knowledgeable. Memphis National Cemetery, originally known as Mississippi River National Cemetery, has a rich history dating back to the American Civil War. Established after the Union Army gained control of Memphis, it serves as the final resting place for over 40,000 war veterans. The cemetery also holds a tragic story related to the steamboat Sultana explosion in 1865, where more than 1,500 rescued Union prisoners of war perished.
I went and paid my respects to the Fallen on Memorial Day.

I played ball in the open section when I was a child. It's filled up now basically. My father was buried there in 1977. It's one of the most beautiful & well kept cemeteries I've ever seen. Beale Street Entertainment District in Memphis is a historic and iconic strip known for its rich blues music history. This three-block area is packed with live music venues, restaurants, blues clubs, and small shops. It's also the site for various music festivals and outdoor concerts throughout the year. Visitors can immerse themselves in the culture by exploring record shops and learning about the history of jazz. At night, locals can be seen dancing outside bars and eateries, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
I had a great time. Regarding security, there was a good police presence and there are also security monitors, even on the six block walk from my hotel to the district. That said, some of the clubs and bars could do a better job of cleaning up the unsavory element. I left before closing time because it was looking like the start to every episode of "Cops."

Visiting Beale Street Entertainment District was an unforgettable experience that perfectly captures the spirit of Memphis! This iconic stretch of around three blocks is packed with live music venues, restaurants, bars, museums, and shops, all within easy walking distance. The energy here is non-stop! Whether you come during the day or late at night, there’s always something happening. One of the most incredible things about Beale Street is the music. No matter your taste whether its blues, rock 'n' roll, R&B, or jazz, you’ll find it here. It’s truly a 24/7 celebration with music pouring out of open doors and street performers adding to the excitement. I also want to note how safe and welcoming it felt. Even with some of the recent news stories you might hear about Memphis, I felt completely at ease exploring both day and night. The area is well-patrolled, well-lit, and filled with friendly locals and fellow travelers. The people I met were some of the friendliest I’ve ever encountered while traveling, always ready to strike up a conversation! The atmosphere is electric yet laid-back making for a perfect balance. The neon lights, music and the historic charm of the street create a vibe that’s truly one of a kind.. Beale Street a must-see for anyone wanting to feel the heart and soul of Memphis!
How L — Google review
Overpriced tourist trap! Go on a Sunday....at least it is free metered parking. Did not understand why people were still paying for parking in a parking garage. Two drinks with tip on a Sunday afternoon cost $40! Area had people sleeping on the sidewalk, walking around talking to themselves, and others who smelled like they hadn't gotten a shower in who knows how long! Need to watch your surroundings. Some families were out and about, but not really a family area. I can say I been there, done that, but will take my tourist dollars elsewhere.
Shelly D — Google review
Disappointing Experience on Beale Street, Memphis I had high hopes for Beale Street given its reputation, but unfortunately, my visit was underwhelming. Many of the bars were completely empty, which created a rather eerie and lifeless atmosphere. I expected vibrant live music around every corner, but there was surprisingly little of it. The overall vibe felt off—more tense than festive—and it didn’t feel like a place where you could relax and enjoy yourself. If you're looking for a lively bar scene and great music, I’d strongly recommend staying in Nashville instead. The energy there is far superior, with packed venues, talented performers, and a welcoming crowd. That said, Graceland was absolutely worth the visit and stood out as a highlight of the trip. It’s rich in history and beautifully maintained—a must-see for any Elvis fan.
Matthew E — Google review
It was interesting to go there and have a early evening dinner.. it’s just interesting to see it, have a taste of it. Beale street was not crowded by the end of the afternoon, still it’s a street where you should be careful, I didn’t have any issues there but I felt that I had to be careful.

Mississippi River Park, now known as the River Garden at Mississippi River Park, is a 1-acre park located in the heart of the Memphis riverfront. It offers serene sunset views, play areas, fire pits, and picnic tables. The park features life-size bird nests for exploration, an all-ages playground, walking paths, native plants, and a relaxing lawn area.
It seems like the theme of this park is sustainability and accessibility. The playground is made of mostly wood and rope. It has a ramp up to accommodate wheelchair users or people with mobility restraints. It is large and sturdy enough for even adults to play on. Along the walking path is a wide variety of trees and flowers. I specifically love the wildflower gardens snaking throughout the park. And there are well-used bird houses. If you see a tree you like, look down! Many of the trees are labeled with bronze plaques. I'm unsure of the laws, but it seems you are even able to fish from the Mississippi from this park's river bank.

This park has a great view of the city. A boat ramp for the river, it’s great for pictures and walking. The bathroom was locked. It’s a little far from the parking area to the Memphis sign so maybe don’t drink too much water if you plan on a visit. It’s definitely a great place to visit. The conference that I am here with is amazing. But I thought staying in the dorms would be a better option. I expected a level of cleanliness with the dorms and it turned out to be the opposite. It turned out that they misplaced my original reservation for the dorms. Then I got here at midnight and the person at the security office couldn’t help when I needed to check in, even though I emailed ahead of time about getting here late and got a response that someone will be there. That made me have to spend extra $150 in a hotel. Then they moved me into a room Monday afternoon without a shower head in either bathroom and with mold in the room. Luckily the next one they put me in was somewhat clean, besides the bathroom. But it at least had a working shower and it wasn’t moldy in there.

This school is genuinely very terrible. I withdrew from the school in January BEFORE CLASSES STARTED and transferred to anyone school. Later, I got a letter in the mail saying I owe $745.50. I contacted the university and they told me to file an appeal. I did, but they never replied to me so I went in person. They said they can’t remove the fee and there’s nothing I or anyone can do. I got robbed of $745 by a school I don’t attend for classes I received ZERO education from. They even told me that if my appeal got accepted, id still have to pay some amount. It’s not right for me to be charged, or for there to even be a fee before the start of the class.

But sadly they're probably too busy indoctrinated the next generation of leftist voters to teach basic physics.

I'm regretting getting enrolled before the semester even starts. I have to email and call staff members 4-5 times before I get a response (normally a week later) on issues that are of urgency. I have to pay 5,700 dollars per semester and a big chunk of that goes to their oversaturated staff's paychecks. I know they aren't understaffed. If they aren't going to help me then why do I need to pay that much. It's ridiculous. At this point it's a ripoff.

tldr: University of Memphis is a terrible college that is constantly looking for new ways to scam their students (dining dollars, automatically charging you for full price books in your TUITION). The classes are also rock-bottom quality, with many professors gatekeeping key classes while being terrible at their jobs. For the record: I graduated from here. I'm not a dropout, this place is just the worst. Full review: UofM is a greedy and morally destitute place. They will attempt to rob you yearly by sneaking in book fees into your tuition, and you will need to opt out every single semester. They also force you to buy a meal plan, even if you are not an on campus student. The admin here are lazy and here to line their pockets and stroke their egos. You can expect constant spam from the President stroking his sense of importance as they continue to try to drain you dry for sportsball money. University of Memphis admin, you're bad people, and I wish only the worst for you. If there's a hell, you belong there. PS: Beyond that, the classes suck and almost all of them are just watching a person read a slideshow while you barely understand them. Glad I'm out of this hell hole.
