Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Toronto's Chinatown, Mother's Dumplings has been delighting diners since 2005 with its authentic Northern Chinese cuisine and handmade dumplings crafted from cherished family recipes. This charming eatery has evolved from a small basement kitchen to a spacious dining area, where an open kitchen produces an impressive 2,000 dumplings daily. The menu is diverse, catering to various cravings and dietary needs with options like pork and bok choy or shrimp and egg.
Best experience here. Don’t usually like Chinese food but the flavours were wonderful and our server Paul was amazing. Went above and beyond. So kind and polite. I wanted to keep a beer can as I collect them so he went and got an empty one in the back for me. So humble and attentive. All the servers were amazing.

FOOD: the dumplings are so freaking good. I ordered steamed bao, pan fried dumpling and some other kinds, they are all good. I wanted to try more but I was already so full. It's also super affordable. Dumplings are fresh made to order, you can see how they make it from scratch through a big glass window. SERVICE: You gonna expect chinese level customer service, it's not gonna be too too friendly but it's decent service. VIBE: I love that I can watch people making dumplings through the window when I eat. The place is not dirty and it feels cozy.
Chloe T — Google review
Had a great first experience!!! Food felt homemade, so fresh, great flavour. Prices were also a plus point, very reasonable for the level of quality. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Loved it all would definitely go back! We tried: pancake, steamed/fried dumplings, dumpling soup.
Nermeen K — Google review
Friend recommended this place after she said she saw it in the Michelin guide of recommended spots in dt Toronto. We ordered a few different items to try and felt it was just alright. Portion sizes are good and pricing isn't bad. Good spot to get your dumpling fix, and they also have other dishes that you can find at Chinese restaurants like rice and noodles, but we didn't try them.
Herman M — Google review
The hot and sour soup hit the spot! The pork dumplings are absolutely delicious, very juicy and full of flavour. Very friendly helpful staff! The sesame red bean balls are so good I should have ordered more. Thank you!
Margaret A — Google review
We came to this place because we were craving dumplings. After searching on Google Maps, we found this restaurant and it seemed like a great choice. The food was tasty and the atmosphere was excellent. Great value for money – definitely worth a visit!
Shmuel Y — Google review
Top quality of Dumplings? Definitely not. But they are still a great, above-average option. The location is a little out of the way from Chinatown, and a bit quiet. The Chinese-inspired decor is quite nice.
Leo T — Google review
As dumpling lovers, we both vote this place knows how to make the best dumplings. The dough is a little stretchy which is what i love. It is able to hold a big filling. The filling is dripping juice too. It is not easy to achieve that, trust me. Dumpling are made live. The only suggestion is they could made the tables cleaner

Nestled in the vibrant west side of Chinatown, Toronto, Dumpling House Restaurant is a cozy haven for dumpling enthusiasts. This charming eatery specializes in both fried and steamed dumplings filled with pork, shrimp, or vegetables. What makes this spot truly special is the delightful sight of chefs skillfully crafting these delicious morsels right before your eyes through a quaint front window.
Pan fried dumplings are so delicious we shared 2 plates of them and it's so cool that you can see the making of the dumplings in the restaurant! The beef rice was just okay but I loved the noodles!
Ophélie Z — Google review
They never disappoint you! Pan fried dumplings so juicy and crispy! My first time trying sweet sour chicken! That was amazing !!! Loved the Shanghai noodle too !!!
Soo S — Google review
I saw a lot of really good reviews and wanted to try this place out. As much as I wanted to like this place, my experience wasn’t as positive. They take cash only and they have an ATM inside. It seems like a family operation rather than people hiring trained staff members with respect to the quality of service and attentiveness. They also don’t serve alcohol. The food was really mediocre at best. The green onion pancake was greasy and super bland. It tasted like the dough was basically a fried flour and water mixture with zero seasoning. It was also tough and not pleasant to eat. The steamed dumplings were okay flavour-wise, but they were thick and chewy. They wouldn’t be that different to compare with the quality of frozen dumplings you buy from the store. We tried some fried dumplings and those were fine. Maybe just not my thing and still prefer steamed dumplings. The fried rice was also fine. It’s a good amount of food for the price, but the quality of food is lacking in my opinion.
A.J. — Google review
Loved the dumplings and other dishes here. We got the following: 3 choices of Steamed Dumplings (Pork, Chive & Shrimp, Pork & Sour Cabbage and Lamb Meat), 3 choices of Fried Dumplings (Pok, Beef and Pork & Shrimp), Hot & Sour Soup and Potato Noodle Salad. Everything tasted really good but my favorite was the fried dumplings.
Kunal B — Google review
Our recent visit to Dumpling House on Spadina was our first time back since the pandemic, and it brought back many memories! The food remains solid, with the same delicious flavors and authentic taste that Dumpling House has always been known for. We especially recommend the pork and chive pan-fried dumplings – they were perfectly crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside, and full of flavor. It’s definitely a must-try dish if you’re visiting. However, while the food quality hasn’t changed, the ambiance feels a bit tired. The interior could use a facelift, as it’s starting to show signs of wear and tear. A renovation to freshen up the décor and seating would not only improve the dining experience but likely draw in more customers. It would really enhance the restaurant’s appeal and help it stand out in the competitive Chinatown area. We went on a Saturday night and found it to be relatively quiet, which was surprising. Although it was nice to avoid the usual weekend crowd, we couldn’t help but feel that a more updated and inviting atmosphere could bring back some of the bustling energy that Dumpling House used to have. With a little investment in the décor and ambiance, the place could easily become a hotspot again. All in all, Dumpling House is still a good option for tasty, authentic dumplings, especially if you’re craving the classic pork and chive pan-fried dumplings. We enjoyed our meal, but we’re hoping to see some improvements in the ambiance on our next visit.

We ordered the House Special noodles and pan fried chicken dumplings. the food tasted fresh, it was ready very quickly, and the portion was very generous. Some of the best tasting food i have eaten in toronto, will come back again. bathroom gave horror movie vibes, that’s how u know the food is gonna be good
Sameen — Google review
Dumpling House was unfortunately not a favorite for us during our Toronto visit. The dumplings all tasted quite similar, and overall, the meal just didn’t stand out. Probably wouldn’t go back for a second try.
Linda H — Google review
We ordered the fried dumplings, some with beef, others with lamb and others with pork (they are the ones I liked the most), all of them are very good. They are made at the moment and by hand 🥟 They have a very tasty chili and garlic sauce. Their service is quite fast and the place is quite clean They have a wide and varied menu. The noodles also look good although I did not try them. I highly recommend it, they are very good. Most of the dishes cost around 16 CAD

If you're on the hunt for a delightful culinary experience without breaking the bank, look no further than Juicy Dumpling. Nestled in the vibrant heart of Chinatown, this compact eatery specializes in Shanghai-style dumplings and wonton soups that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. Known for their mouthwatering xiaolongbaos (soup dumplings), Juicy Dumpling has quickly become a beloved destination for both locals and visitors alike.
MUST TRY!!!! We came to visit Toronto and this is one of the spots to try!!! Dumplings are fresh and made quick. You order off the kiosk in the front and they call your number. Wait time was all of 5 mins. Everything tasted great! Pork had great flavor. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting Chinatown or Toronto.
Alex U — Google review
Definitely not a “must try” spot. These budget friendly dumplings were simply okay. I’d rather spend a little more elsewhere for better dumplings.
Anh P — Google review
The best dumplings we’ve ever had!! They’re perfectly flavourful and melt in your mouth, everything is seasoned to perfection and fried for the most elite crispy edges. Can’t believe how affordable they are and service is super nice and quick. Definitely a must in the Toronto food scene. Looking forward to our next visit!
Vivian I — Google review
Surprisingly the dumplings were good! I expected lukewarm food because the price was so low, but was pleasantly surprised by the warm, juicy soup-filled pork dumplings. The one thing I wouldn't order again is the chicken wings. Not very crunchy and could use more flavour.
Lisa M — Google review
This was incredible. We got the steamed pork soup dumplings and the pan fried pork soup dumplings and they were both so tasty. Great price. Service was fast and it was nice to have a seat to eat. Definitely recommend Juicy Dumpling!
Kara L — Google review
The Dumplings and Buns at Juicy Dumpling were good. We had the Steamed Mini Soup Dumplings (Pork), Pan Fried Juicy Buns (Pork), Pan Fried Shumai (Pork and Onion), BBQ Pork Steamed Bun, and Pan Fried Green Onion Pancakes. The Steamed Mini Soup Dumplings (Pork), Pan Fried Juicy Buns (Pork), Pan Fried Shumai (Pork and Onion), and BBQ Pork Steamed Bun were flavourful and filling. Our favourites were the Steamed Mini Soup Dumplings (Pork) and Pan Fried Juicy Buns (Pork). The Pan Fried Green Onion Pancakes were okay. It would have been good to have a bit more green onion in the pancake.
Andrew L — Google review
I gave the food a 5, but I really need to try more, although what I did try was easy to eat. I gave the service a 5 because they were super fast in delivering the dish, and the atmosphere a 4 because it's so small. It's like you have to eat in 5 minutes and leave quickly because there are more people waiting.
Natu R — Google review
Very average. It's always quite average. This time the pan fried buns were worse than usual. The red bean buns are pretty good.

Dim sum restaurant
Chinese restaurant
Rol San Restaurant is a popular spot in Toronto, known for serving ample plates of Chinese food and fast dim sum. Whether you're craving dumplings early in the morning or late at night, this place has got you covered as it stays open until 2 a.m. The restaurant offers simple, delicious, and authentic dim sum that attracts a large crowd of customers. Despite the somewhat frantic service, patrons can enjoy fresh dim sum throughout the day in the large double seating area.
Rol San is a typical Chinese restaurant, serving Cantonese style cuisine, dim sum dishes, noodle dishes, fried noodles, etc. The decor is clean and modern. Service is excellent and the dim sum dishes we ordered came out fast and piping hot. Perhaps the benefit of sitting on the 3rd floor, where the kitchen is located. We did wait 20 minutes for a table and did not know they had a 3rd floor. The food was very good, perhaps a little on the salty side, but that is nothing unusual for Chinese cuisine. We ordered their char sui bao, which was really tasty. We ordered a baked version and that was also very good. We also had the beef tripe, har gow, etc. The usual dim sum items and all were delicious.
Mike T — Google review
For fun, we only ordered dim sum we have never eaten before. As always, Rol San was a great experience. Their food is delicious, and their service has suddenly improved. The service was never bad, but it was never overly attentive or friendly. This time, we had so many people checking on us, and we got all the things we asked for without ever having to ask a second time. Surprisingly, the duck feet were delicious. They are served cold, and they are sour, spicy, and a little sweet. I would highly recommend them!
Shankari S — Google review
Would recommend booking ahead of time as they do tend to get busy. Their service is super fast and got our food within minutes. The quality and taste of the meals we got were delicious. My boyfriend loved the eggplant dish and I loved the spicy calamari. The restaurant was packed and alot of chatter but was such a good first time experience. Would come again to try other options off their menu.
Diana — Google review
The food here was really good, no complaints about the dishes at all — everything tasted fresh and flavorful. But the service was a big letdown. Especially one server upstairs who was drinking bubble tea during work — extremely unfriendly and unprofessional. It definitely affected the experience. If they improve the service, this place could be amazing.
Rina P — Google review
Rol San is a must-visit spot in Chinatown! The dim sum is always fresh, flavorful, and comes out piping hot. Service is quick and efficient even when it’s busy, and the menu has so many great options to share with friends or family. The shrimp dumplings, chicken feet and sesame balls are especially delicious. A great place for authentic, no-frills dim sum in Toronto!
Bernie N — Google review
Rol San has become our favorite spot to go with my family. They offer a great variety of dim sum, all served fresh and full of flavor. Lunch time is usually packed but service is fast and efficient.
Karen L — Google review
Wow, this is disappointing. In this economy, when dining out is already considered a luxury, transparency is more important than ever. Tipping should reflect the quality of service received and it’s not mandatory, especially when you don’t actually get any service. For takeout, packing food is already part of the job that wages should cover. Most high-end restaurants only apply a mandatory service charge of 15–18% for groups of six or more, and they always inform customers in advance. Meanwhile, this place applies a 15% charge to everyone whether it’s a table for one, two, or even a takeout order. That’s unreasonable and shows a lack of consideration for the customer experience. It’s understandable why many customers are leaving negative reviews because of this. As a person in the same industry, I would never risk damaging customer trust just to increase short-term profits. Practices like this may benefit the business temporarily but will harm it in the long run. I hope the owner reads this feedback and reconsiders this policy for the sake of customer satisfaction and long run success
Paula R — Google review
Update Review as of August 5, 2025 Quality has seriously gone down. Service is even worse. Staff has all changed. Had to wait 20 minutes for a table when there were empty seats everywhere. The food tastes mediocre now. Such a shame. Food: 3 Stars Service: 2 Stars Ambience: 4 Stars Value: 2 Stars Overall: 2.75 Stars ********************* Food: 5 Stars Service: 5 Stars Ambience: 5 Stars Value: 5 Stars Overall: 5 Stars Rol San has been one of my favourite dim sum spots in the city for as long as I can remember. I’ve been coming here since I was a baby, and my family has known the owner for such a long time. This long-standing relationship has led to the staff members knowing us by name, always providing an optimal experience with a personal touch. The dim sum at Rol San is always flavourful and delicious. My absolute favourite is the deep-fried squid tentacles paired with their unbeatable in-house hot sauce. Every bite is a delightful burst of flavour that keeps me coming back. The quality of the food here is consistently top-notch, and you can tell that the chefs put a lot of care into each dish. Since Rol San moved to their new location, I’ve noticed a few changes. The dim sum menu has gotten smaller, which was a bit disappointing at first since I loved the variety they used to offer. However, the quality remains excellent, and I’m hopeful that they will expand the menu again in the future. The new location has a modern feel, but I do miss the charm of the old place. Love the new expansions, fixed the seating issues and brought back a lot of the menu items we missed in the past. The combination of fantastic food, familiar faces, and a welcoming atmosphere keeps me coming back time and time again. The staff's attention to detail and the personalized service we receive make every visit special. If you’re looking for a great dim sum experience with consistently delicious food, Rol San is definitely worth a visit. xx kellychan360

DaiLo is a vibrant Asian brasserie and snack bar that offers a unique blend of traditional Chinese flavors with a French twist. The restaurant's name, meaning 'big brother,' reflects its deep respect for elders and heritage dishes. Chef Liu's Canadian upbringing with Hakka parents influences the menu, which features locally sourced and sustainable ingredients. The establishment believes in the philosophy that eating well leads to living well, emphasizing the use of high-quality ingredients to create not only delicious meals but also better lives.
We went for the premium tasting menu and while it was great, I think I would stick with the regular tasting menu next time. While I loved the beef we were served, caviar is not worth it for me personally. That being said I would definitely come back, the courses were so fun, really appreciated how the waitress would tell us how to eat the dishes, and above all very delicious. Would recommend! Favourites were the dumplings, beef, DESSERT! Least favourite was the spicy green vegetable served with the main.
Penny P — Google review
Great twist to Chinese cuisine. The dish sizes were a lot larger than what we had expected. The waitress offered us half portions of certain items such as the duck and pork hock so we can try more items on the menu. We ordered the Chicken and it was definitely a hearty portion with a subtle truffle taste. We also had the tacos which we found just a tad underwhelming. Overall great ambience, good food and will probably go back just to try the tasting menu.

Exquisite, unique, and memorable dining experience. I was initially skeptical about this Chinese fusion fine dining concept — but it truly works. We chose the chef’s menu, and it was nothing short of amazing. Every dish, every sauce, and every complement worked in perfect harmony. The creativity is next-level, offering a one-of-a-kind experience you simply won’t find elsewhere. The only area with room for improvement is the cocktail program — it was good, but not quite at the same exceptional level as the food.
Cass F — Google review
Hands down one of the best fine dining in Toronto. Each dish presently surprises us. It really was a treat. What’s even better is the service. Everyone is so friendly and kind. My boyfriend is vegetarian so they offer to split the non veg dish such as dumpling in half and make the other half vegetarian. We ordered a lot of dishes and the waiter suggested us to half half portion of some of the dishes so we can try everything with less spending or waste. Who else do this nowadays? 100% recommend. Come here and it will make your day even more special.
Kana — Google review
It was a lovely evening at DaiLo, not just because of the food but the whole experience. We chose the classic tasting menu and were really impressed by how creative some of the dishes were. There was a playful take on pho and an Asian-style taco that used vegetables instead of tortillas. Both were unexpected and delicious. I won’t give away too much because part of the fun is discovering those surprises yourself. Our server was a funny and friendly gentleman who made the night even more enjoyable. He recommended some interesting wine pairings that worked surprisingly well. As someone from an Asian background, I don’t usually think about pairing wine with this kind of food, but his choices showed real thought and taste. It was a great meal and a memorable night. I’d definitely come back again.
Jaxon L — Google review
One of the best meals we’ve had in Toronto. Every dish felt intentional, bold bursts of flavour. Everything was cooked to perfection and the SERVICE? Talk about 5 star service. My boyfriend and I couldn’t pick between a lot of the entrees, so Nick (manager) curated a tasting menu for us! Incredddddible service and just 12/10 experience. Will definitely be coming again!
Eileen K — Google review
We had their tasting menu for our anniversary a couple of weeks ago, one regular and one vegetarian. Each dish was creative, scrumptious, and impressive, and we were so happy with our choice of this restaurant. Unfortunately, the wonderful experience came crashing down when it was time to pay the bill. Our seemingly gentle and attentive waiter, B.M., suddenly frowned, thumped the receipt on the table, and walked away without saying a single word. We sat there cold and confused, thinking he might come back, but instead he stayed in the back of the hallway for a bit and moved on to other tables, showing us his back. Our bill was over $300 with nearly a $50 tip. Sorry if that wasn’t the 'shiny 25%+ tip' he might have expected, but that behavior completely ruined what was otherwise an almost-perfect anniversary night. How sad to see someone smile only for the sake of a bigger tip. To be fair, the host was kind enough to come outside to say goodbye while we waited for our ride, which we truly appreciated. Still, we left with a bitter taste in our mouths despite the amazing food and the kindness of the other staff. I'll miss the food, but I won't return because of that one rude waiter.

This was our first time trying the Summelicious menu, and I was really excited to finally visit DaiLo. The ambience was warm and inviting—we were greeted and then escorted to an upstairs table, which had a quieter, more relaxed vibe. Both servers were friendly and knowledgeable, offering helpful insights about the menu. I wanted to sample a variety of dishes, so the Summelicious tasting menu was the perfect choice. The portions were on the smaller side, though, so we added the duck dish—an excellent decision. All the appetizers were enjoyable, with the bone marrow dumpling and trout leaf being real standouts. As for the entrées, the chicken was a bit underwhelming, but the fried trout and duck were both fantastic. What I appreciated most was the way the natural flavors and textures of the vegetables came through in every dish. I’ll definitely be back—and next time, I’ll book earlier to get a table on the main floor!

Ding Tai Fung is a Shanghai-style dumpling and noodle eatery located in a shopping plaza with simple decor. It offers an authentic Shanghainese dining experience, known for its delicious soup dumplings and signature dishes. Despite being a knock-off of a popular brand, it manages to satisfy Shanghai-style noodle and dumpling enthusiasts. The steamed soup dumplings are particularly mouthwatering.
I’m so glad to say the food here is just as delicious as it was five years ago! Ding Tai Fung hasn’t missed a beat — the quality, flavors, and consistency are all still top-notch. Their original soup dumplings are juicy, flavorful, and perfectly made every time. If you're craving authentic and expertly crafted dumplings, this place never disappoints!

The first time wasn’t a good experience. The second time was interesting. My gas was super low but I persisted 🫢the second time the service & food were a lot better. But the meal is expensive. My friend wanted the wonton soup and somehow it was the worst among all the dishes ordered. I wanted the pork belly with egg rice and it tasted amazing , exactly how I wanted it. The jelly fish dish was pretty good too. I think the beef tendon dish was too hard to chew, but maybe someone will like it that way. Dumplings were great. Therefore I would say food quality is 8/10 Staff were friendly and fast. I guess we ordered a lot of food so perhaps it was the reason. The first time I went I only wanted to order fewer dim sum plates (dumplings, bao, pancake) the servers were having some attitude and not as responsive. Now about pricing, the entire meal was about $120 which I think is not price competitive compared to other restaurants. To be frank, you can find cheaper options with great customer service in many places in close proximity.

Came to Ding Tai Fung hoping to enjoy some dim sum, but the selection was quite limited, so we ended up ordering from the main menu instead. The food was decent overall, but much of it was overly salty. The tripe, in particular, was overcooked. Everything else was fine, but nothing really stood out. An okay experience, but not quite what we were hoping for.
Mike M — Google review
Once in a while we have a meal that’s utterly disappointing. We were excited for Ding Tai Fung’s Shanghai centric dishes, yet all of the flavors were off for us. Mini soup dumplings tasted quite bland in terms of both the filling & the accompanying vinegar. Their Shanghai salted pork soup required us to add salt. By contrast the minced meatballs with cabbage were overly salty giving inconsistent flavours. It didn’t help that we waited 25 minutes for dishes to arrive mostly lukewarm including the dumplings out of the steaming station. Even the soy milk and soy-stewed pork rice took forever. This after waiting a while for a table during the dinner rush that had our hopes up for a good meal. The menu offerings were all on the pricier side including $12.95 for 6 dumplings. The only positive was the service, which was at least polite despite being inattentive.

I haven't been here since maybe before the pandemic, I used to go occasionally since my childhood. I visited from out of town, because I was craving soup Dumplings and had errands to run. It was also my partners first soup Dumplings. We were both in love with the mini and regular soup Dumplings. We also had the dumpling with pork and shrimp. I didn't have other items from the menu so it may be biased but the dim sums were SO GOOD. Service was very simple and very little talking - bring tea pot, bring a paper to write our order. We didn't have a pen so when we were telling our waitress the order she just gave us a pen and told us to write. I do like the tea they serve. My stomach was very happy afterwards.

Had dinner with my wife at Din Tai Fung. We ordered xiao long bao, fried rice, stir-fried green beans, and Kung Pao Chicken. Most dishes were fresh and tasty — the xiao long bao and green beans were especially good. However, the Kung Pao Chicken lacked flavor and could have used a bit more seasoning or spice. Still a pleasant dining experience overall, and we’d come back to try other dishes. Great service and cozy atmosphere.

Din Tai Fung is a Shanghai and Taiwanese-style restaurant that we’ve visited many times over the years. Their signature sheng jian bao (pan-fried pork buns) and xiao long bao (soup dumplings) are made fresh on-site — you can watch the chefs preparing them through the large glass window, which guarantees freshness. I especially love their sheng jian bao: the bottoms are perfectly crispy, and the filling is juicy and flavorful. On our most recent visit, we also ordered the cai fan (vegetable rice) served with braised pork, a light stir-fry of green peas with tofu sheets, and their beef pastry. The beef pastry tasted great, but the portion size was quite small — only three pieces per order. Overall, the food quality is consistently good, and since we visited at lunchtime, there was no wait time and service was quick. A solid spot for authentic Shanghainese and Taiwanese-style comfort food.

Ding Tai Fung is in a plaza with plenty of other restaurants. It’s a good place for Dimsum. We were a party of 6. Started with a Hot & Sour soup. Then 2 baskets each of 3 different Dimsum. The best are the pork & shrimp soup filled ones. Didn’t much care for the crab filling. Finished with the chicken & egg fried rice and a beef in pepper sauce. The beef portion was disappointing. It was small for a Chinese restaurant plus there was more onion, less beef. No drinks, just water. Amount paid including tip, was $40 per person. Which again was high for a Chinese restaurant.

Dim Sum King Seafood Restaurant is a low-key eatery located on the third and second floors of the Beneficial Building at 421 Dundas West. Despite its inconspicuous location, it has garnered a loyal following and even hosts international ambassadors in its spacious dining areas.
The dim sum cart experience is one that really disappeared over the pandemic and in a post-covid world, a lot of places never brought it back. Dim Sum King Seafood is one of the few places I know of that still has people walking around with delicious dim sum wheeled around for you to pick and choose. The food was hot and tasty and the service great. The washrooms could use a little more TLC though

Old school dim sum throwback to the good times. What a wonderful place. This place takes me back to my childhood in the 80s and 90s with the atmosphere, food, and super attentive and caring service. Went on a Sunday, carts were plentiful and stacked high with all the greatest hits of freshly prepared delicious dim sum. We were only two, but can't wait to come back with more people to have the opportunity to eat even more! Only complaint was that I didn't have more space to eat! If you love and appreciate great dim sum, do yourself a favour and grab some friends and order all the things. Om nom nom nom ☺️

The Dim Sum at Dim Sum King Seafood Restaurant was good. The Pan Fried Chives & Shrimp Cakes was savoury and delicious. Would definitely recommend. The Steamed Curry Octopus was good. The Deep Fried Short Ribs w/ Honey Lemon Sauce was okay but very greasy. The Rice Noodle Roll with Snow Pea Shoots and Mushrooms was good and delicious. The Lychee & Osmanthus Jelly was a good dessert.

August 2025 Saturday 10:30 am no wait. Good food and excellent customer service by Monna. I had Rice Noodles Rolls w/Shrimp (#43 L) and Pan Fried Chives & Shrimp Cakes (#37 XXL). Both were available on a cart without any wait time.
John R — Google review
Unfortunate experience. Well below standard. Shady prices. Small servings for a Canadian fare. Ordered ‘free range chicken - 1/2 bird’ … quite a few pieces missing!
Lissy H — Google review
The restaurant was spacious and not busy on a weekday. All of the dishes we ordered were OK, I’ve had better dim sums. In my opinion the radish cake could be crispier on the outside. The soup dumplings wrapping was thick and filling wasn’t the best. Nonetheless it was reasonably priced and the serving size is good.
Dyena M — Google review
Visited with a group of family and relatives during a recent visit. It’s a fairly okay to decent dim sum in Chinatown, as they serve dim sum more traditionally using carts as opposed to using only order forms. During weekends, they seem to be fairly busy as most tables were filled even during the late morning to early afternoon so there may be a wait if arriving right at Noon or later. They offer many of the classic dim sum staples along with a few cooked noodle and entree-style dishes. Most dim sum came fairly freshly made and some of the wait staff were able to point out what the item was. They also offer a la carte items but you would need to ask for a menu if ordering off it instead of their dim sum.

Follow @bredgyeats on IG for more food posts! Corn Dumplings - These plump dumplings are pan-fried for a delightful crispiness and fragrant, and filled with something I usually don't get. There's pork, shrimp, mushrooms, and... corn? I was surprised and it was delicious, a slight crisp from the shrimp, the umami of the pork, the aromas of the mushroom, and the subtle sweetness all in one bite are just harmonious. Rolled Beef Scallion Pancake - As good as green onion pancakes are by themselves, why not make them even tastier by adding beef to them? Not only are you adding soy-based, beefy aromas to every bite, but you also get a wider variety of textures and a sharp hit of dopamine from the beef. Soup Dumplings - Handle with care! These soup dumplings are dressing skimpy tonight, barely holding onto their delicious contents. Once you take a bite, it's like a river of umami, porky flavour bursts into your mouth as that delicate skin dissolves away in the flood. Pork and Chive Bun - Sure, a steaming hot, fluffy bun is great, but what really makes or breaks a bun is the meat to bun ratio. Perfect proportions here, a moist and aromatic pork and chive filling accompanies a soft bun that brings a pleasant, nostalgic taste.

the food here was AMAZING!! And the service was great too. We got the soup dumplings, rolled beef pancake, and pork shrimp chive dumplings. we loved them all! You can tell these are freshly made. Usually the soup dumplings burst when you pick them up, but these stayed intact!! The flavours were amazing. Even the pork dumplings themselves were so juicy it was almost a soup dumpling! The beef pancake was sooo tasty. And as others mentioned, the homemade chili oil was great too. Will be back to try the other stuff!!! ❤️

I just had a dinner at this restaurant with my friend, and the food was absolutely delightful—some of the best in Chinatown! In my experience, the simpler the spot, the better the food, and this one proves it. A true hidden gem for those who prioritize taste over buzz.

Chive, pork, and shrimp potstickers were a 10/10. They’re already well seasoned, perfectly fine to eat them as is, I added chili oil and vinegar to mine for an extra kick. Chive pockets were well seasoned, the chives were not dry at all, no sandy texture either. Would get both items again!

SHINYI Handmade Dumplings, also known as the dumpling house of 416, is a downtown gem located on Yonge Street. The restaurant offers quick and fresh food with a focus on high-quality dumplings and buns. Despite being underrated, it consistently delivers excellent service and authentic flavors reminiscent of Chongqing. The Hot and Spicy Pot is a standout dish that shouldn't be missed, along with the stir-fried cauliflower.

Pan fried dumplings were fresh and really tasty, generous potions. Shredded chicken salad was tasty but quite spicy. I ordered take away in person and it took about 15mins but the service was friendly and there were chairs to wait. The restaurant was clean and welcoming, so were the staff.

So so so glad this place is Downtown! Have dined in a few times already and it is consistently the best. Food is served extremely quick and fresh and even though they specialize in dumplings/buns their dishes are such high quality. Service is also as good as it gets, everyone is kind and the waitress working weekdays is so nice! Definitely underrated because never as crowded as its quality and service should guarantee it is. Tumi Dumpling House is a delightful culinary destination that specializes in an impressive array of both steamed and pan-fried dumplings. This charming eatery caters to various dietary preferences, offering gluten-free vegan options featuring tofu, mushrooms, and vermicelli. Diners rave about the crispy fried dumplings with their perfectly seared dough and flavorful seasonings.
A hidden gem Chinese restaurant here! Awesome food, and I particularly recommend fried dumplings, which have a thin layer covering the dumplings, which itself tastes so crispy and good. Prices are reasonable, and service and atmosphere are good as well. The owner, likely a accomplished artist, told us that he drew some portraits during the lock-down period (from pandemic) and hanged them on the wall, which look really interesting as one can tell portraits are really livid. I will be sharing some of them shortly, from my phone.

Wow. Absolutely positively delicious. Top knotch Chinese food and I can't wait to go back for more. The dumplings are incredible and don't miss out on the braised beef noodle soup.... Again WOW. Really really great food without treking downtown or north of the city. Lucky to have this amazing Asian cuisine here in the Junction.

Came here for the gluten free dumplings people raved about. Got pork and vegetarian. The dough was a little crumbly, which made them a little tough to eat, but I still loved the ability to have something gluten free that normally isn't! I was hoping there might be more options on the menu for gluten free items, but that was all I saw (and essentially what I came for). If I were not allergic to broccoli, I would have tried the beef and broccoli, which I was told could be made gluten free.

Absolutely delicious authentic dumplings for a great price. They have vegetarian and gluten-free options! Great spot for a quick lunch. Definitely recommend the steamed cuttlefish dumplings.

We are loyal food app delivery patrons of Tumi and have actually never dined onsite. We just love the convenience of being able to bulk order delicious food and having generous leftovers for several meals. Our absolute menu favourites are xiao long bao (the best of the dumplings selection!), wonton soup, sweet and sour fish fillet, mapo tofu, fried noodles with shrimp and Yangzhou fried rice. These are our consistent order staples every single time. We just recently tried the pa-fried bao of pork filling and sautéed beef with mushrooms and it was delectable; definitely adding to our usual rotation. Our orders are always neatly packaged and we especially love the high quality of the food; it really tastes authentic and flavourful. We are so glad to have Tumi in our neighbourhood, highly recommended!

Bright, clean, friendly staff (and owner who we chatted a bit after), fair priced menu with high quality dumplings. We ordered the pan fried vegan and chicken dumplings, and the pork bao, more than enough for two, more like food for 3 or 4. Great portions! Will definitely be back!

Absolutely wonderful visit to Tumi Dumpling House. Among our group, we tried 7 different items, including vegan, vegetarian, and meat options. All the dishes we had were very delicious. Particularly excellent dishes were the scallion pancakes, General Tso's chicken, and the pan-fried vegan dumplings. We had lunch on a Sunday, and there was a steady stream of take-out and delivery orders going out while we dined. Very popular! Highly recommended.

This review is more like 4.5 stars. Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. This place is a cute spot for dinner with family or friends. Roughly 10 small tables in the entire place. Cheap parking on the street or in lots nearby. The menu is easy to digest and has a variety of options. Surprisingly they don’t have a lot of dumpling options despite being called a dumpling house??? Ordered a few different dumplings and some green beans for veggies. The dumplings were steamed well and for the most part tasty. I wouldn’t recommend the seafood dumpling with egg. Was a bit weird for my taste but it wasn’t horrible. The beans were cooked well. I would come again or get takeout since there was a never ending stream of takeout the entire time I was there. I just wish there were a bit more options of dumplings.

Asian Legend is a Chinese restaurant in Toronto that specialises in Northern Chinese dim sum and stir-fry. The modern space is bustling with people and the flavors and smells of the food transport you to China. The dim sum is served in generous portions and the soup-filled dumplings are what make this restaurant stand out.
Asian Legend on Dundas in Chinatown delivers Northern Chinese flavors with precision and consistency. Their steamed soup-filled dumplings (crab & pork) are a standout — delicate wrappers encasing a burst of savory broth and finely seasoned filling that speaks to time-honored technique . The pan-fried chicken potstickers add a pleasant crunch and juicy interior, striking a balance that’s tough to master . I also enjoyed the Kung Pao Shrimp, where shrimp are fresh and stir-fried to a perfect sheen, coated in a sweet-spicy sauce . The extensive menu reflects their commitment to health — less oil, less salt — but the flavors stay bold . The space blends modern style with nostalgic Chinese motifs, creating a comfortable setting for both casual meals and family gatherings . Service is cheerful and prompt, and portion sizes offer real value — a full experience without breaking the bank. If you appreciate well-executed Northern Chinese cuisine — from dumplings to stir-fry — Asian Legend is a reliable and satisfying go-to in Toronto’s Chinatown.

Soup dumplings are good and hot but are not as souped up compared to the one in Leslie + Finch location (closes permanently Sept 30). You can see in the picture that it is a bit shriveled up The smoked bbq duck was great. Definitely recommend rice or noodles to go with it as it's salty. The price of these items are too expensive nowadays sadly. $13.99 for 6 crab meat soup dumplings is not it. The waiter is super nice and merged and additional table to give us more eating space

I went there on Sat, May 31st, 2025, around 2pm. It's not crowded. The service was great. The jelly fish salad was a little too salty for me.

The atmosphere was nice and calm. It is a good place for family/groups to gather together. The food was 8.5/10. The portion is really big, especially the tofu blended with crab meat or the mala tofu is you like spicy dish. Soup dumplings dimsum are the highlight of our dinner. It was super juicy, like it is called, and really taste. The mango pudding is also a very good dessert to wrap up the meal. There's only the House Special Crispy Chicken that actually not match our vibe because it was quite dry, salty and not as crunchy as I expected. A little extra note is that, maybe it didn't happen with all customers, but I found a piece of hair in my sauce platter (trying to get thee server's attention but I think they're too busy cuz it's a Friday night and surrounded us are big family groups) which affected my experience here just a little bit. But other than that, we're having a great dinner and a great time here!

This is one of the few dim sum restaurants to choose from in Toronto, and it should be one of the best dim sum restaurants in the city center. The dining environment is comfortable and clean. All the stuffs are handmade. The portions of the stuffs are sufficient and the consumption is not high. It is a great choice for dim sum diners! recommend!

the AYCE dim sum here is SO worth it. first of all, the selection is ENDLESS — i am so glad i was able to order however much i wanted without worrying about prices because i wanted to order everything (and i did). the portions were also quite large, but i am basically a pro eater . second, all the food was actually really good. i may have been expecting like poor quality food, just because its AYCE and there are so many options, but everything tasted YUMMY. the fried items were crispy, the buns were fluffy warm and sticky, the fillings were generous and flavourful, and the seasoning was perfect. some of my personal highlights: creamy egg yolk bun: oozing with a hot sweet golden liquid in a steaming soft bun fried taro and pork dumpling: the sMOOTHEST creamiest taro with juicy pork filling in a crispy exterior hong kong style rice roll: silky rice roll but hefty, thick fried dough stick inside, paired really nicely with the salty soy sauce and the sweet peanut dipping on the side traditional sponge cake: not as much flavour as everything else, but it was subtly sweet and super addicting for some reason. kind of an airy, spongy texture crispy shrimp dumpling w/ dressing: CRISPY CRACKLING skin, juicy shrimp, and the MAYO WAS AMAZING !!! the tanginess was so good with the greasy fry bbq pork pastry: all the bbq pork items were super duper good, the bbq pork was perfectly sweet and saucy, and i loved how thick and doughy and a bit flaky the pastry was but honestly order anything from here because all of it was really good!!!

Qin’s Garden is a fantastic find! The decor is charming—clean and fresh while still feeling warm and welcoming. It has a casual vibe, and the service is super prompt, which makes for an easy and enjoyable dining experience. I was drawn here after seeing it all over Instagram, especially for the soup dumplings. While they were definitely the largest I’ve had in Toronto, they weren’t the best in terms of flavor. That said, the rest of the meal was excellent. The non-soup dumplings, noodle dishes, and rice dishes were all standouts—well-balanced in both flavors and textures, with generous portions and bold flavors. The extensive menu means there’s plenty more to explore, and I can’t wait to go back and try more dishes. If you’re coming for the soup dumplings, they’re worth a try if you prioritize size over taste, but otherwise, skip them and dive into the rest of the menu.

I first saw these soup dumplings in a famous food documentary back in China, and when I finally tried them, I was hooked right away. They use a four-generation family recipe, but unfortunately, the original shop in China closed during Covid. Never thought I’d find their overseas branch here in Canada—and wow, the taste is exactly the same! The soup dumplings are legit: super thin skin, packed with juicy meat, and full of rich broth you can actually sip. We also tried the broccoli fried with chicken, was really flavorful and well-cooked. So happy I found this place. Highly recommend!

I had the best xiaolongbao at Qin’s Garden—they were huge, juicy, and so tasty. The place has such a warm, elegant vibe, and it’s really clean and neat. Very relaxing. The spring rolls were great too, but my favorite tonight has to be the sweet and sour pork. It was just the right mix of sweet and sour—so good!

Place is clean with fun decor. The soup dumplings are huge! The General Tao sauce is very flavorful. Prices are great and the staff is very nice and attentive.

5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My boyfriend clearly has a talent for picking great restaurants — this meal was proof! I haven’t had crispy sweet corn (玉米烙) in ages, and it was so satisfying. The wheat gluten stuffed with meat (面筋塞肉) was rich and flavorful, and the braised ribs were incredibly tender. Of course, the xiao long bao were juicy and delicate, just the way they should be. Every dish felt comforting and well-executed — will definitely be coming back for more.

Tried the steamed soup dumplings with crab meat and pork as well as the beef fried rice. The fried rice was meh, it's not the best I've had nor was it bad but I've had better and wouldn't order it again. The soup dumplings were good and I did quite like them. They were juicy, fairly big with a lot of meat filling but at the same time, it's still $10 for 4 dumplings so given the location in dt, good dumplings can be found for a better price. I was told the dumplings were made to order so it did take about 15-20 mins to get out food which is perfectly fine and I appreciated the heads up when I ordered it. Overall, it's not going to be in my regular rotation of restaurants to visit just simply because of the quantity of food not being filling however, given the quality of the dumplings, I would give it a shot again to see if it does fully win me over one day.

Sang-Ji Fried Bao has evolved from a modest takeout spot on Byng Avenue to a bustling eatery with expanded locations, including one conveniently situated at Yonge and Bloor for those in the downtown area. This vibrant establishment invites you to sit down and savor their signature fried bao, which are best enjoyed by first puncturing them to release the steaming broth inside before indulging in the flavorful filling.
Every time I walk past Sang-Ji fried bao I always see a long line, no matter if it’s during lunch time or dinner hour. After a successfully line up, I have to say the hype is worth it. The buns are made fresh upon order. Juicy and filled with a generous amount of filling. One of the most worth to eat items in downtown. The duck noodles feels like a warm hug too. Cash & debit only!

We ordered a take out on Saturday night and the most popular plates were sold out. We tried the pork bao and the truffle bao, plus a wonton soup. The service was super quick, not even 10 minutes of waiting. Everyone is so nice and friendly. The food was delicious! The dough was super crunchy outside, but so soft with juice inside.
Maria G — Google review
It's a typical Chinese restaurant style. Don't expect a lot of service with the staff but they are very nice when you ask for anything. We got wonton soup, stir fry noodle, durian dessert, and two types of San ji bao (original and curry). The wonton soup was hearty and good for a cold day or if you're feeling under the weather. Noodles were okay, my fiancee liked it more than I did. Skip the durian dessert, it wasn't that great. As for the baos, the original is definitely better than the curry. So if you're going to get one, definitely get the original pork. Go to sanjibao if you want sanjibaos. I'd probably skip the other stuff.

Always a big fan of San-Ji Fried Bao, but we live in RH, not easy to go to downtown. We heard it opened a new location a year ago and finally we got a chance to try it out😀Oh boy, everything is on the spot. We got seated right away when we arrived at 12:30 noon on Friday although many people lining up to get the take out. So don’t get scared away when there is a long line-up. We ordered fried bao, savoury soy milk soup and tofu curd appetizer. I love them all. The best in Toronto. The fried bao is just like what we had in Shanghai. The service is wonderful. The store is small, but plenty seatings for small groups. Highly recommended, please give it try, and thank me later😍

Fried Truffle Bao($9.99) As soon as I opened the top part of the bun, all the steam was coming out. It was served piping hot which I loved and bottom part was crispy brown. Bao bun was thin enough to enjoy the stuffing. Pork, mushroom & “truffle paste( not fake oil) stuffing was delicious. Dry noodles with meat sauce. Unfortunately noodle was way overcooked for me, not chewy or bouncy at all for my liking. Shanghainese Style Schnitzel( $8.88) Menu description says “A tradition dish that celebrates Lunar New Year since 1930's. Served w/ Homemade Rice Cake and Sweet & Sour Gravy.” Good to know. Deep fried pork did not really need dipping sauce. This mochi underneath dippied in worstershire based sauce was very good. Dried tofu cold salad($5.99) There was really crunchy green in this sald that I was picking through but it was not collard green leaves. Not sure what it was but that green stuff was fantastic!! I would definately return for more bao!

Been meaning to check out this place for a while now. It’s right across from our apartment and it’s always busy whenever open. Also we’ve has asian friends recommend this place to us. While my husband eats pork and has little to no dietary restrictions, i unfortunately do not, so it was very challenging for me to find meat items here for myself. The only bao that I could have was the curry beef bao which was unbelievably flavourful and delicious. My husband had the pork one which he said was also good. Really hoping to try the scallion oil and peanut noodles next time as we saw that to be quite a popular item. Menu and ordering is all done via QR code so don’t expect stellar service here beyond the basics. Food comes quickly, and a carafe and plastic cups are available on the table along with utensils. Bill needs to be paid upfront and you get a 10% discount on cash payments.

Authentic Shanghai food. Interior is very hot and only a fan was working. Food is decent. Service is quick.

Every time I have eaten here, minus a specific occasion where I found a hair in one of the buns, I had an enjoyable experience. My favourites are the original Sang Ji Fried Bao's, as well as the scallion oil noodles. I believe the prices are fine for the freshness and convenience of this restaurant. I enjoy coming here for a simple lunch or dinner.

The Daily Dumpling Wonton Co, located at 792 College, offers a chic and minimalist setting where you can enjoy a variety of Chinese dumplings, noodles, and soups. Customers rave about the classic Shanghai dumplings with pork and mustard greens as well as the vegan spinach dumplings with peanut sauce and hot sauce. The portions are generous, making it perfect for sharing multiple dishes.
Outstanding discovery, I was looking for exactly what the Daily Dumpling was offering! Great friendly service, awesome flavours that took me back to a moment in my life when I called Shanghai home. I can't wait to revisit! The second we got out dishes, we reordered seconds. Thank you for bringing Shanghai to Toronto!

They change the order on Ubereats without communicating with customers. I ordered several different flavours of the wontons, wanted different sauces and soup. There’s no any soup came in! The shrimp flavour is not fresh! And the spinach pine seeds ones don’t taste pine seeds at all!

Delicious food and a great spot for takeout! You can dine in as well but the space is very small. The shrimp pork chive wontons with peanut sauce is my favourite, as well as their sausages.

I seriously do not know why this place has such a high rating. The wontons tasted mediocre; they basically tasted like defrosted grocery store bought wontons. Nothing special about the broth either... Literally just tastes like something you can cook off instantly with a bag of frozen dumplings... On top of that, the cashier/server did not really speak much English so she couldn't answer my questions about recommendations properly either. I asked about the restaurant's most popular broth but she pointed to all the broth types one by one and said "This one. Or maybe this? This? This maybe?" which clearly meant she couldn't communicate well...

Order the vegan dumplings with peanut sauce. It was below par, the girl was on her cellphone the whole time while placing the order and while boiling the dumplings, she did not wash her hands between using her phone and interacting with our food. When I asked for hot sauce or chilli oil she said it was a $2 charge (for hot sauce? Really? After paying$15+ for 10 dumpling she wanted to up charge me for some hot suace... I won't be visiting this place again.

Byblos Downtown is a trendy, two-story restaurant in Toronto's Financial District that offers a modern take on Eastern Mediterranean cuisine and cocktails. Owned by Ink Entertainment and Dream Unlimited, with Chef John Chee at the helm, this sleek restaurant is fully accessible and boasts Commute Design decor. Located in the Storys Building downtown, it's an ideal spot for pre-theatre meals or intimate weeknight dates.
We had an incredible dining experience at Byblos Downtown in Toronto. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance felt warm, elegant, and perfectly suited for a special night out. The service was exceptional—our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made thoughtful recommendations throughout the meal. Every dish was presented beautifully and tasted even better. We tried several shared plates, and each one was full of bold Mediterranean flavors with a modern twist. The lamb ribs were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the black truffle pide was a standout—rich, aromatic, and indulgent. Overall, Byblos Downtown exceeded expectations on all fronts: atmosphere, service, and food quality. It’s definitely one of the best spots in Toronto for upscale Eastern Mediterranean cuisine. Highly recommended for a special celebration, or anyone looking for a refined dining experience with bold, unforgettable flavors.

Had a lovely birthday dinner here. The drinks were good, and the appetizers were decent but not great—quite small for the price. The mains were the standout—we especially loved the harissa chicken and sweet jeweled rice. Presentation was beautiful, and the service was friendly and attentive. They even brought out a small dessert to celebrate my birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch. Overall, a great vibe and a good experience!

The restaurant, no doubt, is very stylish. There is dim lighting and it is furnished with excellent furniture. The food presentation is beautiful and the flavours are quite unique. The only downfall would be the small portion size, especially relative to the pricing. It still makes for a restaurant with a nice vibe and interesting dishes.

We had dinner at Byblos tonight, and while the atmosphere and service were top-notch, the food didn’t quite meet expectations. Our server, David, truly elevated the experience. He was attentive, warm, and professional — easily one of the best servers I’ve encountered in Toronto. His energy and smile set the tone for the evening, and he deserves real recognition for how exceptional he is at what he does. That said, the food was underwhelming. The baby gem salad was fresh and flavorful, but the fried eggplant leaned too sweet, and the stuffed eggplant was surprisingly bitter. The Turkish dumplings were just okay — nothing memorable. I asked for hot sauce to balance the flavors, which turned out to be a watery Frank’s-style sauce, and was surprised to see a $3 charge for it. I eat out often and have never been charged for something so basic. The fries, however, were perfectly crispy — probably the best thing we ordered. We finished off with cappuccinos and cake, which ended the night on a decent note. Overall, I’d come back only for the service, not the food. With better flavor balance and attention to detail in the dishes, Byblos could easily live up to its reputation — but for now, it feels like the kitchen doesn’t match the quality of the front-of-house team.
Devyani K — Google review
We shared a few plates together with the halloumi being thr stand out for flavour. The lentil pide was tasty. Cauliflower side was a little on the crunchy side for my liking. Stuffed eggplant was excellent with the flavourful tomato sauce. Loved the room, busy but not overly loud. Service was attentive and relaxed.

An incredible dinner from start to finish. The lamb shoulder was out of this world—tender, deeply seasoned, and absolutely memorable. The sides were just as impressive, especially the rice, which delivered exactly the flavours my palate was craving. Every note landed perfectly. The Brussels sprouts were beautifully done too, and the pear and arugula salad made for a bright, refreshing start. The octopus was expertly prepared—delicate, smoky, and set atop a rich, nutty harissa that added just the right warmth and depth. Everything, truly, was exceptional. The service struck that perfect balance—attentive without overstepping. I left in a state of quiet bliss. A remarkable dinner in every sense.
Gayan P — Google review
Great atmosphere and service, unfortunately the food didnt live up to my expectations. I ordered the lamp chops and they had too much fat on them and they were covered in a sauce that was overwhelming to the point I couldn't even taste the lamb! Maybe I ordered the wrong mains, the truffle pide was great so was the funky design if the restaurant.

Highly recommend the PICKLED MUSTARD GREEN NOODLE SOUP. Perfect comfortable food. After the trip, this bowl of noodle soup made me almost forget the tiredness of the traffic. The soup filled dumplings is great. Paired with the red vinegar provided, it is a taste experience. The crystal pork belly is also good, but it is more suitable to be paired with rice. Looking forward to trying it next time.

Located in the lower level of the unit but there is a big sign above so you cant miss it. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was very good. The special fried rice was exceptional and came in a big sharing plate. We thought there would be leftover but with 2 teenage boys no chance! A bit pricey as not much under 10 dollars but will visit again.

Went to Lee Chen Asian Bistro for a quick brunch before going to the Aquarium. Service was excellent and fast. I also liked that they open early. We ordered the xiao long bao (soup-filled dumplings), steamed vegetable dumplings, and soy milk -- all did not disappoint! We also loved the dip that came with the vegetable dumplings -- I want to know where I could get them or how to recreate them! 😅 Overall, highrly recommended!
Baloney X — Google review
I went here recently with my family for an early lunch 11:45 a.m. Since they open at 11:15 a.m. it was very empty and there was an odd smell of cleaning solution. I guess they just wiped things down and cleaned up but the smell was kind of unpleasant and strong for a restaurant. I would suggest maybe doing it the night before and not before guests will be arriving shortly after. Anyways we ordered shanghai fried noodles (very good and I recommend), soup dumplings (basic), kung pao chicken (not good and small portion), sauteed pea shoots (good serving and pretty good) and steamed rice (very small portion for $3). Overall the food is okay but below average for my standard of Chinese food (maybe it is a bit higher because I am used to Scarborough Chinese restaurants). Portions for veggie dish seem good but for everything else is a but small. Bill was $90 with tax for 4 adults and everyone was still a little hungry. I wouldn't come here again. Chinese food from a food court is probably better and cheaper and I only came here cause my family was looking a sit down. Service is polite and attentive and tries their best.

Beautiful setting and atmosphere. Food was average in taste despite the relatively generous portion sizes. The kung pao fish is worth a try, the dim sum, shrimp fried rice and egg noodles not so much.

We were pleasantly surprised by this dim sum place! The interior was much larger and nicer than we expected from the outside—clean, modern, and inviting. We started with the Xiao Long Bao (01 dim sum) and scallion pancake. Both were delicious—my whole family enjoyed them. The Xiao Long Bao was full of flavor, and you could really taste each ingredient. The scallion pancake came already sliced, which was super convenient, and it had the perfect crispiness. The black bean chicken was another standout. The chicken was tender, and the peppers and onions were cooked just right—savory and slightly sweet. Highly recommend pairing it with white rice. Later, we added the chicken and shrimp dim sum, which was delicately wrapped and had a light, balanced flavor. What really made our visit exceptional was the service. Gavin, our server, was incredibly attentive and thoughtful, especially toward my little one who was a bit cranky from an early morning. He even offered him a cookie as encouragement to finish his last dim sum piece—such a kind and personal touch. Overall, a quality experience with great food, at a reasonable price, and even better service.

Restaurant
Crown Prince Fine Dining and Banquet is a luxurious restaurant and event space that offers traditional Chinese favorites and dim sum dishes. Located just outside of Markham on Victoria Park and McNicoll, the venue boasts extravagant decor with enormous French paintings adorning the walls, creating an ambiance fit for royalty. The standard dim sum selection is complemented by the quality of the food, which matches the beauty of the surroundings. Guests can expect fast, friendly service in a grand setting with French-themed decor.
So far, the best dimsum we've tried. Dimsum portions are bigger than usual from other places. They are very busy on weekends. It's best to come early. Open 9am on weekends and 10am on weekdays. Service was quick, efficient, and friendly. Big parking lot. We spent about $40 per person, but we over ordered and had a lot of leftovers to take home.

3 stars means ok. 5 stars is for Michelin grade. The pe par duck is ok. The skin is crispy, and the taste is just a bit salty. The soup is coconut and mushroom with black chicken. The taste is good. I drank 4 bowls. Just a bit oily. If the chef can take the skin of the black chicken out before cooking, then it is 10/10. The sweet and sour pork is by far the best surprise. The batter is very light and crispy. Somehow, the ice makes the crispy batter lighter...... I don't get it. But it is. The fried rice is ok. If the chef panfried it for another 5 minutes, the rice will be more "wow air". ...... here come the worst dish of the night. The salty egg yuk shrimp. The shrimp is fresh and deep fried perfectly. The salty egg yuk tastes perfectly....... you probably wonder why it is the worst dish then......... because the shell is still on the shrimp. So you need to eat the salty egg yuk first, then take the shell out. Then you eat the shrimp without the salty egg yuk. Or should I take the salty egg yuk out and put it in the bowl Then, deshell the shrimp. Then eat the shrimp with the egg yuk? It is a good dish without thinking through from the customer experience. Not bad. It is ok so it is 3 stars.

Spacious and welcoming spot with an inviting vibe. The service was excellent—friendly and attentive throughout. I’ve honestly never had a server anywhere suggest cutting up the spare ribs for us (we were 9 people and the dish normally comes with 8 pieces). Such a thoughtful gesture, and it made them so much easier to enjoy. The food overall was quite good, with generous portions and great value for the price. A special mention goes to the “啫啫” Chinese broccoli—it was the most tender I’ve ever had, thanks to the chef carefully shaving off the tougher outer parts before cooking. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to!

We came here as a family (including extended family) of 14 last Saturday for dim sum lunch (sorry for the late review - got busy and forgot). The interior/decorations of the Crown Prince Fine Dining and Banquet restaurant is very fancy. Even the washrooms were pretty darn fancy. The only thing going for the food was the portion sizes. Nowhere on the dim sum side of the menu does it list the prices of each of the sizes of the dishes. Couldn't find the dim sum prices on the other side of the menu. We did the math later, and each dish came out to be $8 each -- no matter the size. Expensive as heck. While we were ordering our dim sum dishes, some older employee in a grey suit tried to forcefully upsell us this deep fried eggplant dish that costed $12 for only 4 tiny pieces. Yeah, no thanks. He kept on insisting and my mom had to shut him down. We were already going to pay alot due to the fact that the family member who was hosting this family gathering was playing as the "Game Master" and had "planned things ahead of time". Well, we learned the food wasn't as good as the reviews said it was. The "Game Master" had ordered a variety of dishes that were not diabetic friendly (for the family members who are diabetic), so they could barely eat anything. She ordered 3x Seafood & Pork Dumpling (Siu Mai), 3x Steamed Shrimp Dumpling (Har Gow), 4x Steamed Beef Balls, 3x Steamed Baby Octopus w/ Curry Sauce, 3x Steamed Chicken Feet w/ Abalone Sauce, 2x Steamed Spareribs w/ Black Bean Sauce, 2x Beef Tripe w/ Ginger & Onion, 1x Honeycomb Tripe w/ Satay Sauce, 1x Steamed Bun w/ Custard & Egg Yolk, 4x Sticky Rice w/ Meat Wrapped In Lotus Leaf, 4x Pan Fried Turnip Cake, 4x Steamed Shrimp & Veggie Rice Roll, 4x Beef Rice Roll w/ Period Black Truffle, 1x Steamed Plain Rice Roll, 2x Mango Pudding, and 2x Snow Rabbit Coconut Milk Cake. And my mom was able to squeeze in 2x Steamed Bean Curd Roll w/ Mushroom. Now, let's get this out of the way: All of the food was rather greasy and oily. The longer we are the food, the worse it got. This is only an issue for people who had working tastebuds. Most of the food was missing some sort of "impactful flavor", or just plain ol' salt. The Siu Mai and Har Gow was very dense and solid. And it lacked it flavor of any kind. The only thing going for it was the portion size. The best thing to eat was the Chicken Feet (seasoned just right, including spicy kick), Beef Tripe (had the right amount of flavor), Honeycomb Tripe (right amount of chewiness), and Mango Pudding (right amount of sweet, shaped like a fish). I wasn't able to try the Custard Bun as we found out later that there was only 1 dish ordered. Surprisingly. Thanks "Game Master". Either the dim sum dishes lacked in flavor or was overwhelming in flavor. Either to dense or too chewy. The Beef Balls were standard. The Baby Octopus had a very strong curry flavor (it was not liked). The Spareribs was more bone and fat than actual meat. The kids devoured the Custard Buns like there was no tomorrow. The Sticky Rice was very heavy and was not loved (lots of leftovers). The Turnip Cake was very pasty and mushy. Utterly disgusting. The texture was the utmost worst thing I've put in my mouth. It was hated and no one touched it. The Shrimp/Veggie and Beef Rice Rolls were bursting with filling, but they were tasteless without soy sauce. The Plain Rice Roll was for a specific family member to eat. You could say people fought over the lack of or the little number of dessert options: the Mango Pudding and the Snow Rabbit Coconut Milk Cake. These 2 desserts were very cute. Sweet tasting. The rabbit one was a bit too sweet, surprisingly for a authentic Chinese restaurant. Oh, and the dessert can melt. The Bean Curd Roll was also standard, just a bit more oily than it should be. Overall, the restaurant was disappointing and underwhelming. We also felt cheated by the lack of dim sum price transparency. Nowhere on the website, Google Map location, and the menu states what each dish or size of each dish costs. The only thing going for this place, are the sizes.

First I want to say that the atmosphere was very good. It was loud enough for you to have a private conversation but not loud enough that you cant hear each other. Interior is also very clean and unique. Now to get into the food. All the dishes tasted good but doesnt blow you away. To start off with the duck course. It comes in two courses the first is sliced breast with wraps and a variety of fried vegetables. The flavors were there but not so strong. Especially for the fried vegetables I would say their only purpose is to add more crunchy texture. The second course is stir-fried duck with lettuce wrap. I personally enjoyed it more cause it had more flavor and the cuts were somewhat uniform. The squid tentacles were well seasoned with a grilled type of aroma. The fried custard ball was also very delightful because if the rich creamy custard and can crispy yet chewy exterior. There was also a carrot looking dish which actually had meat inside and similar texture to the sesame ball. The rest of the dishes were well made but nothing really stuck out. The service was very good because the servers were walking by very frequently which made it easy to ask for water, utensils and sauce. They were also very helpful explaining the menu when we were confused about the dish description on the menu. Lastly the price is.. well we came to eat duck and dim sum so we knew it was going to be pricey. The total was 200 after tax. Each person was about 50 dollars. Closing statement: The food is satisfactory but I wouldn’t consider it Fine Dining.

Smashing IT! 😋 I love and adore this cute little diner style restaurant. It is so cute beyond words. It has that old school vibe from the 70s and 80s with the diner stoles that we miss so much. The owner and staff are so incredibly friendly hospitable. And the food is absolutely OUT OF THIS WORD and incredibly DELICIOUS! At Hastings Snack Bar they are serving up the best and the most authentic Polish comfort food in the city! The Cabbage Rolls an A+++ The Pierogies an A+++ Nestled in the Leslieville area along trendy Queen Street East where all the cool people hang out you will stumble onto Hastings Snack Bar, but do not walk by as you do not want to deny your taste buds and hungry stomach to the most amazing food being served in the city! It's authentic, it's fresh, it's delicious and you will want to continue to come back many many more times.

Amazing food that will remind you of a home-made grandma meal. You can tell everything in this restaurant is made with love. Also, a big shout-out to the staff who always makes us feel welcome. Toronto is in dire need of more places that provide a sense of belonging to the community (like this one).

Went twice during our few days in Toronto. I think that alone is a great review! This place is the perfect spot for great, homemade food, and very friendly service. Prices were great (not just for Toronto!), and the atmosphere of a place that just does good things really well is becoming a lost art in the age of social media, hype etc. Spend a minute, eat here: get the dill pickle soup (if you're lucky enough to be there on a day when they have it on Special), and the housemade perogies. But really, everything we had was stellar. Pictured are the kielbasa sandwich, veggie soup, dill pickle soup and the bigos. Beer available (had a Helles 👍👍)

Great food and very reasonably priced. This was my second time here and I will definitely be back. As a Polish person, I’m particular about my pierogi and these are perfect.

Stopped by for lunch while running errands nearby. It’s a small snack bar with limited seating, mostly counter and a couple of wall-facing spots. We sat facing the wall; seats are a bit tight, and food is handed over from the bar. We came just after noon, so it was already the lunch menu. Both of us ordered the Hungry Tata’s Lunch because it came with pirogis (which I love!). The plate included a big cabbage roll, a sausage, four pirogis, and pickled veggies. Generous portion, though a bit pricey at $27+tax. The pirogis were great, and I really enjoyed the sausage. First time trying Polish food besides pirogis. Overall, a satisfying experience.

A very delicious Chinese dim sum restaurant. The interior is very cozy, but the shop closes early. Please pay attention to the business hours if you go.

The food here is delicious! The Har Gow and Siu Mai are perfectly done and are large in size. The flavour is great, and the price for the size is great. I also love the steamed bbq pork bun's filling. The squid was a great size and very tender. If you like curry flavour, you will love the squid. The short rib is also very flavourful. If you like Dim Sum, come here and try it.
James — Google review
most awful dim sum I have ever tasted. the wrapper of the chicken dumpling is thick and still has raw dough. the matcha soup dumplings' wrapper is hard as well and the meat inside tastes sour, probably why it's on promo on ubereats buy 1 get 1. the baby octopus was overcooked and too rubbery to eat we had to throw them out. the abalone tart had a mushy texture. the hargow has a very thick wrapper too. the only item we liked is the foie gras and caviar siu mai but we do not taste foie gras. among all dim sum restaurants in the area, they are the most expensive and the worst quality. Rosewood, Dim Sum King and Wok Theory are way better and cheaper.
Rafael C — Google review
The host was friendly and the restaurant was very clean. Their dimsum looked delicate and tasted umami (they used dried shrimp as an ingredient) But the portion under such a price... to be honest… should be larger...
YJSNPI — Google review
The food was tasty and well presented. We tried the assorted plate and every single item had its own reasons for being a favorite. That fresh egg tart is otherworldly! It tastes better than it looks, and it looks absolutely delicious! Will definitely visit again and try more dishes. The location is great for people watching and taking in the very intentional looking decor which looks even better in the afternoon sun.

I discovered this cozy spot serving authentic dim sum right next to my workplace, and it was such a great find! The food was incredibly delicious and freshly prepared. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, making the experience even better. The restaurant has a modern, minimalist design that creates a relaxing atmosphere. I also really appreciate their commitment to sustainability—everything from the containers appears to be made from recyclable materials, which is a thoughtful touch. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more items from their menu!

The Siu Mai here is the best I've ever had. I loved it and the Har Gow. The spare ribs were yummy and the squid was tender and large. The BBQ pork buns were delicious. The chef is very nice and polite. 10/10 must try!

Fast food restaurant
Loga's Corner, located in Parkdale, is a hidden gem known for serving the best momos in town. The small family-style space offers traditional Tibetan dumplings made fresh daily and steamed upon ordering. With various meat options and a potato choice for vegan enthusiasts, these chewy and soft momos are served with spicy pickled daikon radishes and chili oil for just $8. Additionally, guests can enjoy butter tea, a creamy, salted, and caffeinated Tibetan staple.
Loved the variations of vegetarian momos. I personally found the spinach veggie momos really healthy and filling. But my favorite were potato fried dumplings. I had to take it to go after eating the whole plate.
Devyani K — Google review
This place used to be really good but I stopped going because it’s always a long wait and the quality seems to have gone down. On my most recent visit, the momos barely had any filling and one of them was completely rock hard. I showed it to the cashier and he took it back to the kitchen to confirm. They said they over fried it and he proceeded to throw it out without doing anything about it
Cherry S — Google review
Heard about Loga’s Corner from TikTok. I LOVE to try new places so I hopped on the subway and stopped by. We ordered chicken, beef and fried potato. The beef was my favourite! SO juicy and flavourful with a great texture. Prices are also very affordable for a Toronto spot!
Taia T — Google review
Was working in the area for a few days, so I went here 3 times for lunch. I had the fried potato momos twice, and the fried spinach momos once. The potato momos are amazing. The spinach momos are not good at all. My colleagues tried the fried lamb and fried beef momos and the mango lassi and said it was all great. Also, their hot sauces are really good.
Carrie N — Google review
Really good price for what you get. The fried momos are a great choice! The service is slow, however, and the atmosphere could improved by more authentic decor and music.

Quaint interior. Fried chicken momos are crispy and the filling is really tasty. The mango lassis helped me handle the heat of the sauces which were very spicy. Great value for money. Service was quick.

Deli
Shopping mall
Centre Street Deli stands out as a cherished gem in Thornhill's culinary landscape, especially among the dwindling number of Jewish-style delis in Toronto. Established in 1988, this beloved eatery is renowned for its classic delicatessen offerings, including mouthwatering smoked meat—especially if you prefer it peppery—corned beef, tongue, and an array of pickled delights. The warm and inviting atmosphere invites lively conversations between staff and regulars as you place your order.
Amazing Jewish deli food that would make Bubbie proud! I grew up near this infamous deli and have many fond memories of all the delicious delights! Recently returned after a 15 year hiatus. It didn’t disappoint.
Jason B — Google review
you don't need to go to Montreal for the smoke meat anymore. 12pm, the restaurant is packed. Many purchased takeout as well. I ordered an old-fashioned smoke meat sandwich (you can choose lean or fatty meat). I chose lean meat, and it is soft. The lady offered me hot mustard, and it is wonderful. I ordered pickles as well, and it is just perfect with the sandwich.
Jones L — Google review
Centre Street Deli has been around in Thornhill since 1988. I came here back then, when they first opened, and loved their smoked meat. They were in a smaller unit back then. Although it's been 37 years, I never forgot how good their food was so when I happened to be in the area, I had to drop in. My friend and I had their Old Fashioned Smoked Meat sandwich, with Fries, Coleslaw, and Pickle. It was really good, moist and tender, without being salty. The generous serving of fries was crispy. The coleslaw and pickle were just right. Good meal! We also had a Cheese Bagelach. We weren't sure exactly what we had ordered but were willing to try it. As the name suggests, it kinda looks like a bagel but isn't. It was soft, more on the sweet side, almost dessert-like, especially with the included creamy sauce. It was good. Please forgive my vague description. I'll definitely be back to try more from their menu. Hopefully, it won't be another 37 years.

Step back into time with this old school deli. Known for their smoked meat, I got it for breakfast alongside some eggs and I was so tempted to get a sandwich to go too. Smoked meat was tender and juicy and something about dipping your smoked meat into some runny eggs that’s so satisfying and delicious Service was awesome as waitress told me the recommendations and what majority of people who go for a first time order. She also told me that I could get the smoked meat alongside my breakfast meal as well which was nice. Really appreciated that as this looks like a place that fills up with regulars. Atmosphere is somewhat of an old school diner feel and there’s lots of seating available and you wouldn’t peg it looking from outside. Parking is available as it’s in a huge plaza but with the amount of businesses, it can fill up quickly. I will have to go back just to grab more of that smoked meat and get a sandwich too Great job overall
Andrew T — Google review
Food is overrated! Drove all the way out there for very mediocre food. Miss Katz’s Deli on Dufferin. Far superior than this place. Our food came out different times, even though we were supposed to eat together. My tongue sandwich was half brown. I eat beef tongue lots only the ends are suppose to be brown not the middle pieces. Staff in the take out section and cashier look so miserable. Too boot they put both of my strudels in one tiny box so one of my strudel has gotten flattened. I guess they are too cheap to put it in different boxes Even though you’re paying strudel by the weight!
Mary L — Google review
Came for lunch on Friday and was not disappointed at all! I got the old fashion on an onion bun with a side of fries. The sandwich itself, vey flavorful, the meat is cut by hand and if very very filling. The fries are fresh, softer which matches the consistency of the sandwich. Next time I would 100% look to get the fries more well done. For the price of the food, the amount you get is well worth. Service was great; called and ordered ahead, food was ready less than 15 minutes later. When I showed up food was ready and hot! Will definitely be back to try some of their other hot deli sandwiches. Fully recommend.

My friend's sandwich was very good. However, the French toast wasn't good at all in my opinion. Very expensive too.

Born and raised in Montreal; moved to Toronto 8 years ago. After eating Montreal food almost all of my life, I have to declare that Montreal has the best restaurants in Canada. Having been raised eating smoked meat, etc from Schwartz Delicatessen (my late Mom was a cashier there when she was 19!), there is no other place in Montreal that comes close. Snowdon Deli is so-so and since I moved to Toronto, I used to go to Centre Street Deli (a subdivision of Snowdon Deli) whenever I felt like having some "Montreal"-cloned smoked meat. It used to be passable, but lately, not so much. I bought a container of chicken soup and matzo balls recently and both had no taste; threw them out. I was told the other day that ownership of Centre Street Deli changed ownership so my friends, brother, and I made the mistake of going there yesterday for lunch. The smoked meat was mostly fat (couldn't find much meat in there and tasted rubbery); the French Fries were horrible - no taste (not even after putting on salt & vinegar, or ketchup!). The quarter slice of dill pickle was pure salt (not sour) and the small piece of pimento pepper (they also sell Putter's sweet pimento peppers so I thought they use some of their supply to serve with meals) was sour, not sweet. One of my friends had their cheese blintzes and said that they had no taste at all. The service wasn't exceptional; in fact as we sat down, the waitress removed my cutlery and napkin and I had to get her to bring them back. If you read this review, please take it seriously - and don't come here if you want "Montreal"-style deli; there are so many ex-Montrealers living here, I don't understand why they would come here; On the other hand, Torontonians don't know any better! So if you really want good smoked meat, stuffed chicken - take a ride to Montreal and go to Schwartz. If you want real good French Fries, go to Lafleur's while you're in Montreal and have a steamie.

Located in Queens Quay Terminal, Pearl Harbourfront Chinese Cuisine is a long-standing establishment offering upscale Chinese cuisine and dim sum with picturesque views of the lake. With almost thirty years of experience, this restaurant is known for its delectable dishes and stunning panoramic views of the city's waterfront. Whether you're enjoying traditional favorites or innovative creations, dining at Pearl Harbourfront promises an unforgettable experience that perfectly combines flavors and aesthetics.
the soup was very good, light broth but rich flavour. the beef was mostly just skin or fat- no meat on it. the noodles were good as well! the steamed shrimp and pork dumplings were so juicy and really delicious the soup dumplings stole the show! the soup in it was so flavourful! very juicy meat inside the fried taro and scallop were so surprising! the assorted meat inside the bottom was like a curry and was so good! the scallop was soft and cooked perfectly. the fried taro was so crispy and light. might have been the best dish we got! the steamed rice noodles with beef with coriander were amazing! so gelatinous with the tasty fresh coriander. great dish the service was good as well, fast and efficient the staff brought us spicy sauce and soy sauce which was yummy overall amazing place with a great view!!

Okay hands down the best Chinese food I've had in Canada. The service is 5 star and big up to Kim who based on what I was planning to order suggested I different combination that would give me a wider range. The suggestion didn't disappoint. One thing I wish I knew was to reserve in advance to get a seat with a view of the lake.

Lovely place right on the lake with gorgeous views. It's one of three such restaurants in Toronto. So clearly popular. The Dim Sum is quite good but can do just as well in Chinatown. The highlight is the Peking Duck which is generous and comes with delicious roast duck. I say go for the view and the duck.

Dishes are salty as hell. The mushroom leafy dish costs $32? Worst choice in Toronto. They may have had good fame in the past, they will not earn people to come back any more.
Thunder Z — Google review
Deeply Disappointed – Poor Quality, Misleading Dishes, and Terrible Execution I recently visited Pearl Harbourfront Chinese Cuisine expecting a high-end Cantonese dining experience, but what we got was truly disappointing – both in terms of food quality and presentation. We ordered the Peking duck, and were shocked to see only 20 small slices served. But even more disappointing was the obvious pre-made nature of the dish: the duck meat was dry, tough, and had a strong reheated and frozen odor, with none of the crispiness or freshness that defines this classic. The duck skin was greasy, soft, and gamey, with an off-putting oily aftertaste. The thin pancakes – traditionally a key part of the experience – had been replaced by generic supermarket wraps (the kind you buy for $2.99), and the julienned cucumber was replaced by thick, awkward chunks. I’m not comparing this to Beijing-style duck or even to the roast ducks you find in Chinatown — I’m simply comparing it to other Cantonese restaurants that also serve Peking duck, and this was clearly not up to any acceptable standard. A dish like this should not even be offered on the menu in its current state. The cumin lamb was similarly disappointing — not only lacking any trace of cumin flavor, but also served with random vegetables like snow peas, which made it feel more like a “mixed vegetable stir-fry with lamb” than anything resembling the dish described. If the kitchen can't do justice to "cumin lamb," then maybe it should rename it to better reflect what is actually being served. Putting a traditional name on a dish that has no relation to it misleads customers and erodes trust in Chinese cuisine. The salt and pepper soft shell crab and salt and pepper pork chops were deep-fried yet somehow both came out soggy and greasy, clearly having been reheated or stir-fried again before serving. Worse still, instead of using fresh chili peppers, the dishes were sprinkled with cheap, pickled red peppers from a jar, which overwhelmed the flavor and added an unpleasant sour note. To top it off, basic hygiene was a serious concern. One of the servers had very long fingernails, clearly visible while placing dishes on the table. It was incredibly off-putting and made us lose our appetite. I invited guests hoping to show them good food, and instead, the meal turned into a major embarrassment. While the view is nice and the atmosphere appears upscale, the actual food and service fall far below what this restaurant is trying to present. For the prices being charged, this level of poor execution, cutting corners, and misleading menu items is completely unacceptable.

Nestled within the elegant confines of the DoubleTree by Hilton, Lai Wah Heen is a premier destination for those seeking an exquisite dim sum experience. This upscale restaurant has been delighting diners for over two decades with its innovative menu featuring dumplings filled with luxurious ingredients like lobster and chicken paired with truffle. The name "Lai Wah Heen," which translates to "luxurious meeting place," perfectly encapsulates the ambiance and culinary excellence found here.
The newly revamped Lai Wah Heen is quite the experience. The interior is beautiful and upscale. Food is delicious with a modern flare. Food has wonderful presentation, and is very aesthetic while also still being delicious. My favourite dish had to the lobster mapo tofu, I'm normally not a tofu fan, but this was just amazing. Cocktails are a must too. The dining experience is worth every penny! Would highly recommend.

The best dim sum in Toronto. They have some unique tea leaves to choose from compare to other dim sum place. Dim sum were refined. I like all of them except the milk tart was a bit different than what they have described, they said it's a dragonfruit milk tart, but we couldn't taste the dragonfruit, i think it's only for the color. Overall we had a very nice experience at Lai Wah Heen and we will definitely come back for dim sum and dinner.

First time coming back after renovation. The whole experience was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. The service here is truly top-tier. The manager, Franky (who wears glasses), was incredibly welcoming. He has a warm, genuine smile and consistently checked in to ensure everything was perfect. His attention to detail and care for our dining experience was remarkable! Our servers, Randy and Dylan, were equally fantastic—attentive, polite, and very thoughtful. As a wonderful surprise for my birthday, they brought out a complimentary dessert, which was a lovely and much-appreciated gesture. Of course, the food was beautiful and delicious. Every dish we ordered was flavorful and expertly prepared. I cannot recommend here highly enough. It was a perfect experience thanks to Franky, Randy, and Dylan. We will definitely be returning!

This was our first experience dining at Lai Wah Heen and we had an amazing meal...love the farm to table flavors and freshness. We order items we were somewhat familiar with and our waiter, Randy timed it all perfectly. Randy really added to our experience...he was professional, great sense of humor and such a fun witty person. The music was a 70s playlist that I want...it was epic and totally added to our evening, especially when we played "Who's this artist" ....Randy was our expert. Our guest had halal dietary restrictions and there was no problems. We are super excited to try Lai Wah Heen again, the next time we're in Toronto.

Stepping into Lai Wah Heen was honestly jaw-dropping! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that every aspect of the experience was carefully curated. We ordered a few appetizers and several main dishes, and each plate was not only delicious but a true work of art. The attention to detail in the presentation was remarkable, to the point where I didn't even want to eat it because they were so perfect. Every element was thoughtfully arranged, colours balanced, and textures highlighted, making each dish as visually stunning as it was flavourful. I will be back for sure!!

Buca Osteria & Enoteca is a renowned Italian restaurant with two locations in Toronto, offering rustic Italian cuisine such as housemade pastas and charcuterie in a vibrant, upscale setting. The downtown location, Bar Buca, provides a charming interior with brick walls and an industrial courtyard patio for al fresco dining.
My girlfriend and I came here as part of the Winterlicious Food Festival that happens every year in Toronto and enjoyed their 3-course pre-fix menu. Service staff were friendly and attentive the whole night. Each dish was brought, then explained ingredient-by-ingredient, giving you that traditional fine-dining feeling. We also ordered a bottle of orange wine (my favourite kind, and not readily available at most restaurants) to accompany us through the meal. Every dish was simple and flavourful, but our favourite of the night had to be their tiramisu. First of all, this dessert was massive - can easily be shared between two people and I am not kidding when I say this was hands-down the best tiramisu we have ever tried. It was creamy, decadent, and the crispy wafer on top adds an element of texture that we both thought was delightful. I am sad to hear of this closing of this location as I thought it was their best one. We are happy to have had the pleasure of dining here when it was around - it will be remembered fondly!

I was excited to try the place. Didn't have a problem reserving a table. Since we knew it's located downtown, we had figured out parking prior to heading down. 3 minutes walk from the closest paid parking garage. We liked the general ambiance and the look of the place, though we felt the tables were too close together with others and it was loud(noise from chatter) We did not enjoy the food. Steak was hard, and octopus was very rubbery. Pastas were OK, and appetizers were decent at best. Tiramisu was too liquidy. Wine was great, though. Overall, it was very disappointing. To add to this, our server was not very attentive. Price isn't too bad, approximately $600 for 4 people including tax & tip. Probably won't go back again.

Had a really nice time here. Came with a big group of 20+ people after an event. Private dining area and really great staff. We had a set menu accompanied by a tiramisu dessert. Great selection of food as you could see from the photos. The fish was by far my personal favourite.

It’s located at end of hidden alley along King st. Their patio is small and cute but they have larger interior. The cocktails were overpriced but food was decent. Their service was very polite and helful and staff were friendly. Although we had overall positive experience there, we wouldn’t go back there since the price tag didn’t match the food and scale of the restaurant. They should revisit the menu and prices to attract more traffic there.

Visited during the Summerlicious event. Their menu offering was a superb balance of traditional and innovative dishes that exceeded our expectations, meeting all our culinary cravings. The attentive and knowledgeable staff provided exceptional service, complementing the delightful dining experience. The highlight of our evening was the decadent tiramisu, an indulgent finale to the sublime meal. Buca Osteria & Enoteca skillfully blends the genuine authenticity of Italian flavors with meticulous service in a serene setting, offering a memorable dining experience. A must-visit culinary gem in Toronto.

Had such an amazing time eating here. Highly recommend the Pizza with Burrata. The crust is so light & airy. Our waiter explained that they do something with the dough so it doesn’t make you feel too full because it doesn’t expand in your stomach. I love it!! The service at this location is also really great. They recommended the perfect amount of food for us.

It was nice restaurant but food was just avarage. I was expecting someting more. In general food was bit too salty for me and my friend. My Friend's carbonara was bit too salty and she got another one. But second pasta was bit too hard compare to the first one. However server were friendly and nice. Maybe its nice place for some drink and small snack.

The atmosphere was very unique. Aged brick interior, exposed ceilings and pipes and very unique light fixtures. The staff was extremely pleasant, welcoming, and knowledgable about the menu. They cleaned out the table, plates, forks and knives after the appetizers and replaced them. A nice touch was the waiter who replaced our plates and utensils had a towel to not touch anything with her bare hands. The food was fantastic and it speaks for itself. Fresh pasta full of flavour. Extremely thin pizzas - great tasting fresh salads. I loved the food at Buca - would highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back!

Great lunch at Cafe Polonez. Post high park outing, took the parents out to experience proper Polish home cooking. Delicious and comforting. Will def be back for more! Ordered chicken schnitzel, pork cabbage rolls and, cheddar and potato pierogi

The service was absolutely outstanding and made us feel completely at home from the moment we walked in. I asked about the soup of the day and was over the moon to find out it was dill pickle soup, which they serve on Fridays. That happens to be my favorite, so it felt like a lucky surprise. The portions were incredibly generous, and the prices were more than fair for the quality and quantity we received. But what truly stood out was the genuine warmth and friendliness of the staff. Their service came with a smile and such care that it elevated the entire experience. Every dish we ordered was delicious, and we all left feeling happy, full, and eager to come back.

Four of us went for dinner. It was the Labor Day Sunday so it was busy. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. There was a 39 minute wait due to availability. We went for a walk and 5 minutes later the hostess called us back. Amazing 🍀. The servers were quite busy so we had to wait for them to be available. No problem. Once we ordered the staff was attentive and helpful. I was missing their pickle soup. Thankfully, it was the soup of the day 🙏. We ordered our soups, Schnitzel, cabbage rolls and goulash. Wonderful! Love coming here! ♥️

Located in the heart of Toronto’s Polish community we had been to this restaurant for over 25 years. This family runs Polish restaurant serves tradition homemade dishes and Eastern European delights that makes you look around and check exactly where you are. Our server is very pleasant and attentive. Their atmosphere is bright and casual. Explore their menu for yourself. Just found out Cafe Polonez is offering takeout and delivery service now.

Food was classic polish cuisine. So delicious! We ordered the zurek soup and a wide array of sides. Everything was perfectly executed. 100% recommended.

My friend and I had a fabulous meal at Café Polonez recently. The service was great, the food was absolutely delicious and a very generous portion, and the price was fair. We are already planning our next visit! The only slightly strange thing for me - is asked for some extra gravy to take home with my leftovers and was charged $7. I thought that was expensive for gravy - but when I went to use the gravy I realized it was actually a side of beef goulash! Not exactly what I was expecting but a pleasant surprise. 🙂

Food was really yummy, such a nice hearty meal. I got mushroom cabbage rolls with a side of cheddar perogies. They were sooooo delicious. The place is really popular and super packed, so attentive little on the noisy side and it's difficult for servers to keep up, but i understand. Still a great place to try authentic polish food.

We ordered the platter so we can try a bit of everything, and this was such a generous portion and delicious. We had pork and chicken schnitzel, sauerkraut, beet salad, carrots, coleslaw, cabbage rolls, and pierogies. Food was amazing, tasted homemade and fresh. Service was great and friendly. Can't wait to go back here and try more options.

Japanese restaurant
Sansotei Ramen is a popular Canadian ramen brand with locations in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and the GTA. Specializing in tonkotsu ramen inspired by the Kyushu and Hokkaido regions of Japan, their rich and creamy pork bone broth is made fresh daily. Despite long wait times, the unique flavors at Sansotei make it worth the visit.
I discovered this place a long time ago through Reels, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The ramen broth is incredibly rich, the noodles are firm and chewy, and the toppings are generous. I also recommend trying the fried chicken appetizer—it’s perfectly crispy and really tasty. The restaurant is clean and well-kept. Aside from the slightly narrow staircase leading downstairs, there’s nothing to complain about. Overall, I highly recommend this spot!
Christopher D — Google review
Really delicious and filling Ramen, with a cute shop and charming service. The waitress was really sweet :) I liked how they asked for the firmness of the noodles. I like mine chewy and it definitely was! The simple combo (12$) is greatly underrated as it comes with a little rice bowl and a simple Ramen. (Pictured below) Very filling and the cheapest Ramen on the menu! Only thing is the prices can be expensive but I feel that's just typical Ramen restaurants these days. I got the tomato Ramen which was 17$ w/o tax & tip

We loved it! We were very satisfied and happily surprised by how good this place and its food are. The dishes are packed with so much flavor, and the staff is very friendly and welcoming! Our server was very sweet with me and my friends. I’ll definitely be coming back soon to try their other specialties. Five stars to everyone who makes this such a great place. ありがとうございます!

We ducked into this Sensotei location for a quick bite and we left with our hunger fully and pleasantly sated. The service was friendly and super efficient. The appetizers and main meals appeared very, very quickly. The gyoza was well pan-fried and tasty. The fried chicken pieces were tender and cooked just right. They were light and flavourful. The two ramen dishes we ordered were just right, and they certainly hit the spot and took care of the ramen cravings.

Visited 1 time. No dedicated parking. No reservation. Place was clean. Friendly and welcoming staffs. As for food, we ordered several and I personally had the garlic/pork broth (tonkotsu black I think). It was reaallly good! Loved it specially after a long windy day. Will surely visit again. #highlyrecommended.

Easily one of my favourite ramen spots. The Miso Black was delicious. First came here in 2018 and was excited to return in 2025. It lived up to the memory once again!

Stopped by during a workday for a quick lunch and it was perfect for that! 🍜 It was busy, but we were served right away. This was actually my first ever ramen experience at a restaurant, as I don't normally go for ramen. Things to know: - broth is homemade and incredibly delicious 🤤 I could have enjoyed it on its own! - you can choose from thick or thin noodles (not a huge difference in width) - not a good spot for big groups or private conversations as tables are very close to one another but good for a spot for 2 people I ordered the tokatsu black and my friend got the spicy tantan - we both loved it and was very filling! I had to pack the rest of mine to go because I was satisfyingly full.😄 I would definitely come back here when looking for something to warm my tummy, especially this winter!

Dynasty is an upscale restaurant in Yorkville that offers a wide selection of traditional Chinese dishes and dim sum. The menu features duck, live seafood, dumplings, congee, stir-fried rice cakes, lobster, beef short ribs, crispy chicken, steamed fish, and snow pea tips. The ambiance is described as classy and the quality of the food is highly praised.
Simply one of the best Cantonese restaurants in town Although their previous location looking down on the mink mile was better, yet this is another good example of how landlords are ruining retail business. Still, they are celebrating their 30th anniversary. Given that everything is well prepared and tasted just exquisite, as well as the top notch services. For sure they will stand strong in this competitive market for another long period of time.
Jackie’s L — Google review
The food experience was not quite what I had hoped for. The snow pea leaves and mushroom dish was the standout; however, the dressing was a bit overwhelming. We ordered five dim sum dishes, and unfortunately, I was disappointed with the deep-fried items, which were dry and hard. The manager kindly had all the deep-fried dishes remade for us, and they were significantly improved, but by that point, I had lost my appetite and wished they had gotten it right the first time. Additionally, the decor feels outdated; the location on Bloor from 20 years ago was much more appealing.
Anna C — Google review
Restaurant has a large dining room, a separate small section (to the left when entering), and a seasonal balcony/patio. The restaurant has an extensive menu as well as a dim sum menu. Prices are moderate high, and most dishes are made to order fresh ingredients. Service is efficient if, at times, hurried. Correct but not overly friendly. Food tends to arrive relatively fast except for peak periods.
Rupert A — Google review
There were 4 of us today for a 130 PM seating. We were seated right away. The Tea was constantly replenished and the service was very attentive. We ordered several different dim sum and the kitchen and servers timed it perfectly so that we always had food, but were never served too much at once. The food quality was top notch and personal favourite was the Har Gow. As treat we had the Tapioca and cake which a nice touch and not overly sweet. I should have taken more note of the various dishes so that I could comment more but we were enjoying the food. We will be back.

We were pleasantly surprise just how good this place is. To think that we have walked by this restaurant the last 20 years! This restaurant is amazing. Make sure to support this local Chinese restaurant in Yorkville. The custard buns and vegetarian stir-fry were so memorable. We are not even vegetarians!

The best air conditioning in Yorkville. Great dim sum comparable to Markham. Great for down town folks and people coming from out of town.

I saw this awesome AD on the #TTC and remembered my buddies make fun of me for only eating #DimSum at the same old places (there are few left). But I was in YorkVille and Dynasty was calling from a looooooong time ago. I forgot what a location it is - the patio and window seating is PREMIUM people-watching and group/gossip over Har Gow The Octopus was the most tender and delicate at Dim Sum. Their prices are weirdly low for Yorkville. I’m a local, the child of global immigrants who grew up on Dim Sum downtown. Now a Dad of mixed Toronto teenagers, treat yourself, come back to Dynasty!!!

I went with a large group so I was able to try many dishes here. Overall I am happy with the quality and taste of all of the dishes. The restaurant was clean and the server was friendly and very helpful. Interesting to see that they half prepped the peking duck for you here. At majority of the other Chinese restaurants, you get to assemble it by yourself. Will come back to try out some of their other dishes.

The food here was so amazing 👏 I also loved that they had Vegan options for my son, and his girlfriend. I adored the saltfish fritters, and festival. I'm definitely coming back my husband is also a vegan. I never got to try the avocado 🥑 toast. I will definitely be coming back for that. Service was so amazing the atmosphere was beautiful.

I can start by saying the ambiance was soo cute. It definitely gave island vibes. Our server was super sweet and friendly and she gave great recommendations. Let's get into the food, I must say my wings were very sold. I got the tiny wings as my entree and my cousin got the Mac & Cheese. The seasoning was great and it was filling regarding the wings. However, the Mac & cheese wasn't. The portion of it was pretty small especially for the price. Overall, I enjoyed it and I'll make sure to come back the next time I'm in Toronto!

Was pretty excited to try this restaurant. Was recommended by a friend and seen in the Michelin Guide. The kitchen is lightning fast. The service was wonderful. Amazing interior design with great vibes. Two bars with seating and lots of liquor on the shelves. Lots of patio space. Clean facility and clean washrooms. Free WiFi. No credit card surcharge. Some of the staff were not dressed the most appropriately when children dine here. The food was moderate and frankly the Goat Curry was very salty. Prices were high for the portion.
JC L — Google review
Chubby’s Cafe has a cozy, laid-back vibe that makes it a solid brunch spot. I tried the banana French toast, and it was definitely the star of the meal — rich, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet without going overboard. The poached egg was solid too — cooked well, nice texture, no complaints. The Chubby hash was decent, though a little underseasoned for my taste. Still, everything felt fresh and homemade. Service was friendly, and the portions were generous. Overall, a great little spot to start your weekend — especially if you’re craving something sweet.

Our service has a great sense of humour and attention to detail. The atmosphere was lovely and the food was on point. Ackee, plantain, jerk pork, curry goat and bread pudding was so good. The cocktails are creative yet tasty as well. My colleague and I had a great time! Definitely will be back. 5 stars all the way!

A fabulous place to eat. A quirky house with a rustic interior creating an authentic Jamaican atmosphere reminiscent of a beach shack on a tropical beach. The food was delicious, blending a mix of flavours into a taste explosion for your taste buds, and the sundae is a genius creation with four different layers of flavours and textures. Wrap this up with fantastic friendly and helpful service and you have a ‘must go to’ place to eat. Make sure to book so you don’t miss out 👍

During a vacation in Toronto, I spent a day exploring the downtown area. The weather was perfect for walking, shopping and just sightseeing. After about an hour an a half of exploring, of course we were starving. I was hoping to find a restaurant that served "local" cuisine... apparently, there aren't any (that we found). However, I did a quick google search for Jamaican food and found Chubby's, and I am sooo glad I did. We went during happy hour and was able to try different options, at happy hour prices. Location/Vibes - It's located a few blocks from the pavilion (not sure what it's called, but the place were they hold different events. The restaurant is decorated really nicely, has a cute island vibe! Service - We were warmly greeted by the host and seated promptly! The waiter came over, almost as soon as we were seated, let us know that it was happy hour and pointed out a few of his favorites. Drinks - We both ordered the rum punch, which was on the happy hour menu.... it was made to perfection... so much so that we ended up ordering a couple of more.. lol Food - We order a couple of appetizers, including Saltfish Fritters & Acket & Saltfish fritters - the Saltfish fritters were so good, we ordered another serving! For dinner, I ordered Jerk Chicken (Happy Hour menu) and my date ordered Jerk Shrimp.. I didn't taste it, but it got rave reviews. Desert - we ordered Rum Raisin bread pudding - to-go b/c we were so stuffed!

Sky Dragon Chinese Restaurant, located on the 5th floor of a bustling mall, offers a lively dim sum experience with an array of dishes served from carts and stunning city views. Situated on the tenth floor of a commercial complex in Toronto, this restaurant boasts panoramic skyline vistas. The BBQ pork buns are highly recommended for their delightful blend of sweet and savory flavors. Additionally, the establishment hosts special events such as dim sum gatherings featuring live drag performances by renowned artists.
I always enjoy my visits to Sky Dragon. The food is consistently fresh and tasty. Some highlights are the chives and shrimp pancake (#20) and rice noodle roll w/ pork and green onion (#39). It's one of the least expensive dim sum options in Chinatown, but the quality is still good. Great views of the city from the dining room. It's fun taking the elevator or stairs to the top of the Dragon City mall. Are there better dim sum places in the city? Absolutely. But food/atmosphere/staff are great at Sky Dragon, especially given its price point.

I've been eating here with my family for years. I love this restaurant. The food is delicious, the restaurant is clean and spacious, the service is friendly and attentive, and the wait time for food is very short! They have plenty of high quality dim sum here. If you go to Toronto downtown (Spadina Ave.), I recommend snacking on curry fish/beef balls at Dragon City Corner Snacks, steamed soup dumpling (pork) at Juicy Dumpling, and then dining at Sky Dragon Chinese Restaurant. All these places are in the same building (Dragon City mall)
Light B — Google review
One of the last few dim sum places with a classic authentic feel remaining in Chinatown. One thing you notice immediately is the sense of community as the staff know a lot of the customers, and the customers know each other. Love to see it and it'll be a shame if this is lost. Located in Dragon City Mall on the top floor, and has the old school Chinese restaurant table cloth aesthetic. They have push carts carrying around a lot of the classic dim sum staples, but you can also order stuff direct from the kitchen. The food is decent and also good value for money. Servers here are pretty friendly and can speak English and varying dialects of Chinese.

Planta Queen, located in Toronto's Entertainment District, offers a stylish and Asian-inspired space where vegans can enjoy a variety of plant-based dishes. In addition to sushi, the restaurant serves up other Asian-inspired delights such as General Lee's Cauliflower and Pineapple Fried Rice.
The Food was Amazing. We ordered Dragon Sushi and it was really good. Bang Bang broccoli was heavy but again really good in taste. I think the food was good for the price so is quantity. Atmosphere - 5 star Service - Waitress and Staff were really good but their computer system were down (Not blaming restaurant) but it made little chaos in order. There were nice enough to provide dessert on the house. One thing to note here is that: they do not allowed cakes from outside specially if it is not Vegan. One of my favourite vegetarian places. The atmosphere is so nice and the food presentation is beautiful. The maki rolls are very delicious and mimic real sushi pretty well. The only unfortunate thing is the prices they charge, why am I paying the same amount for a roll with watermelon and avocado as I would for one with fish

this is probably the best vegan food ive ever had. the bang bang broccoli literally shivered my timbers and so did the cauliflower wings. the summer rolls were nice and refreshing and the tuna sushi was UNCANNY to real tuna in sushi. it was insane. THE BEST PART BY FAR WAS THE BANNING PUDDING IT WAS LIKE A CLOUD. amazing restaurant highly recommend to anyone (lots of options)
Aryan N — Google review
My family took me here yesterday for my birthday and because we have vegans and gluten-free people , it was hard to find a place that caters to both. The atmosphere was low lit and gorgeous, not crowded, comfortable. Think, a tropical place at night! The waiter was amazing, he took time to explain everything and was checking in regularly with us. First dish was a hand roll my father had, which was called the spicy tuna. He said it was the best thing he ever had. We ordered the japanese sweet potato with gojuchan mayo, which was my personal favorite, I wanted to lick the plate clean. Bang bang broccoli was next and that seems to be a staple and everyone's favorite. Its was perfectly portioned. Then when we didn't think it could get any better we got the truffle fried rice. This was amazing!!!! I do not like truffles or anything flavored with it. This was simply phenomenal in taste, texture and presentation. The poke bowl came and we mixed that up and devoured it. The Singapore noodles were so warm and comforting. And the kelp Cesar salad was shocking everyone with how good it was. My sister in law said if someone coooked like this for her everyday , she would be vegan. Both my parents were impressed. We all shared a slice of the matcha cheese cake with blueberry cooli and a dollop of faux whip cream. Honestly the best food I've had ever. They use unexpected flavors, new concepts and concoctions to pull together a cruelty free meal for the goddesses and gods. I wanted to make sure no morsels were left in the plates and bowls and even found myself scooping what I dropped off the table. Absolutely decadent and delicious. This will become my new favorite restaurant. 10/10

Nestled in a modest strip plaza, Jim Chai Kee Noodles is a must-visit for anyone craving hearty wonton noodle soup. With its inviting atmosphere enhanced by large skylights, this eatery serves up generous bowls that are sure to satisfy. Their signature dish features plump shrimp wontons, marinated beef slices, and fish balls swimming in savory broth. Other delightful options include beef vermicelli and vegetable lo mein tossed in oyster sauce.
We went for lunch with my colleagues in Richmondhill location. I ordered the Signature Lo mien with beef, wonton and fishball. And added the veggies. The food is simple yet delicious. You have to place order in the counter and pay first and then they will prepare it. The portion is quite large and enough to make a good meal. My craving was satisfied.

Great spot for traditional Hong Kong wonton noodle soup! Signature Noodle (Wonton, Beef, & Fishball): - egg noodles have great bite - wontons are large, plump, and packed with shrimp - beef slices are so tender! - fish balls were enormous, just a little fishy - chili oil absolutely slaps For $16 (including tax/tip) it is a pretty decent portion. Everything is self-serve in disposable bowls and utensils.
Sarah — Google review
I think the serving size is small for the price. Dining inside feels like you’re in a foodcourt. No service, you pick up your food from the desk. Food tasted ok. I ordered wonton noodle soup and the beef noodle. Easily found parking in the plaza.

Very delicious wonton noodle soup. I ordered shrimp wonton noodles with my family, and the price wasn’t too expensive. Good portion size and delicious soup and dumplings. The service was kind of empty, and the atmosphere feels sort of rushed and not too good.
Max N — Google review
Got the A1 (w/noodles + broth on the side), B1 (w/noodles), and C1 (no noodles). The beef was super tender and soft. The regular shrimp wonton was stuffed and good. The fish wonton was okay I can see how some people may not like it. The noodle itself nothing special. The broth nothing special. The size of the wontons were pretty big. Would I go out of my way and drive all the way here for the wonton? Probably not. If you're in the area it's a good spot to try.

Pros = staff was awesome. Very nice and authentic people. Quality seemed above mid. Brisket cut was not bad. Cons = kinda basic flavors. Wasn't blown off my seat with the feeling like I must return. Chicken was straight cold and not desirable at all Overall = for me personally it was good but thats it just good. Making bomb ramen at home is way better these days with organic options but I aint mad at this place if your in the area check it out

Great service great food. Highly recommend their spicy beef. It was very flavourful. Got Miso chicken and spicy beef. Both were great. Their drinks are good too.

One of the OG ramen joints in Toronto, it's sad to say that Kinton doesn't really stack up anymore against the competition. Bowls tend to be quite basic compared to the large variety of broths, toppings, and additions at other ramen joints. The brand definitely feels like the fast food of ramen these days, albeit this isn't reflected in its prices. Their kaarage is still very good however.
David X — Google review
I had the spicy garlic pork ramen and loved it. The broth was tasty but not overpowering (like I sometimes feel at my other fave - Santouka), the pork was flavourful, and the noodles had the right amount of bite. Service was good. I’ll be back. 😊
JJ G — Google review
I tried the “meal for one.” The gyoza dumplings were delicious. I ordered the shoyu ramen but felt compelled to add extra soy sauce. I don’t know if maybe I needed a pallet cleanser between each dish but the broth tasted bland before I added the extra soy. Nevertheless, the Ajitsuke Tamago was on point!
L F — Google review
I recently tried the ramen here, and it was absolutely incredible! The broth was rich and spicy, packed with bold flavors. The tender pork melted in your mouth, the chili pepper provided a nice kick, while the garlic ball—oh, the garlic ball—was a game changer! Pro tip: be sure to mix the garlic ball well into the ramen before you start eating. I learned this the hard way when I bit into it whole, and let's just say it was a bit much! Once it's blended in, though, it enhances the dish perfectly with that garlicky goodness. Overall, this ramen is a must-try for spice lovers and garlic fans. Can’t wait to come back!

Do yourself a favour and don’t order the two for one ramen chicken special. They have cut their costs by only including one small piece of chicken. Better to get just one and have a decent amount included. It was still good, just very disappointed with the protein portion in a $25 - $30 bowl of ramen.

Restaurant
Cho Sun Ok Korean Restaurant is a compact and trendy spot in Toronto that's popular for its authentic Korean dishes. The restaurant is known for its signature cold noodles, bibimbap, sausage dishes, and organ meats. Customers praise the chewy texture of the arrowroot slushy soup in the cold noodle dish and note that it has a mild fruity taste which makes it quite refreshing. The pork bone soup is also recommended for its tender meat and balanced flavor.
It was busy so we wait 30mins but it was a really authentic Korean restaurant, and the food was delicious. We all enjoyed the dishes we ordered. All the soups were amazing, but the spicy beef soup (육개장) was the best—so good that we bought a premade one from their banchan store (you get 10% off if you bring your restaurant bill). I also really liked the bibim cold noodles and the LA galbi combo. Highly recommend this place!

★★★★★ Delicious and Authentic, but Expect Lines and Higher Prices I visited this Korean-Chinese cold noodle restaurant recently, and the food was absolutely fantastic! The flavors are incredibly authentic, a perfect blend of Korean and Chinese-Korean (Joseon-jok) cuisine. The staff were also very friendly and multilingual, which made the experience even better. The only downsides are that there’s almost always a wait, no matter when you go, and the prices are a bit on the higher side. Still, the quality and taste make it worth it!

Very good food. We were lucky to get a table as soon as we arrived. The restaurant gets very busy and often there are people waiting in line for a table. This was as early as 6:00 pm on a Saturday evening. The food we picked was very tasty and it arrived quite quickly after we placed the order. The servers are very polite and they frequently visited our table to check if we were okay or needed anything. Overall a very good experience.

The best customer service I’ve ever experienced at a Korean restaurant! I was genuinely impressed — we never had to ask for side dish refills. Every time the servers passed by, they offered to top them up, not just once or twice, but consistently throughout the meal. That level of attentiveness really stood out. As for the food, it didn’t exactly wow me, but it wasn’t bad either. I’d definitely like to come back and try some of the other dishes I haven’t had yet. We visited after 8 PM and didn’t have to wait at all, which was another big plus.

Cho Sun Ok is a longtime favorite for authentic Korean food in Toronto. The dishes are flavorful and hearty, with standouts like their hot stone bibimbap and perfectly marinated BBQ meats. The banchan variety is generous and always freshly prepared. Service is friendly and efficient, and while the restaurant often gets busy, the atmosphere stays warm and inviting. A great place if you’re craving traditional Korean home-style cooking

Korean cuisine offers so much more than just barbecue, and this restaurant truly showcases traditional dishes. It's one of the rare spots that serves rice tea instead of cold water, which is a nice touch. The portion sizes are generous, making it easy to share. I highly recommend the tang sooyook and the naengmyun, especially with the galbi in slushy broth. I’ll definitely need to return a few times to sample more of their menu. Just a heads up: it can be tricky to secure a large table since the space is quite cozy.

Do NOT order the dumplings — especially #38 hot pot that comes with their “homemade” dumplings. The wrappers are unbelievably THICK, and the filling is very mediocre. There’s none of the savory flavor you’d expect from pork dumplings; honestly, you can barely tell they’re supposed to be pork. The staff mentioned that the skins are handmade, which is why sometimes they turn out too thick or too thin, but either way the texture just isn’t pleasant. Both my friend and I found ourselves missing the frozen dumplings from the supermarket — which says a lot.

Starting off customers service is great, people are very polite and speedy service . Restaurant area very well kept organized and clean. Now getting to the Food quality. The side dishes aren’t that great doesn’t taste well and no flavour . The Cold noodle omg it’s not the greatest still need to improve. Other foods are decent standard quality.

Restaurant
Amber European Restaurant offers a simple and modern setting to enjoy classic homestyle Polish and Ukrainian cuisine. Visitors have raved about the Vienna Schnitzel, noting its moist and flavorful meat paired with perfectly spiced mashed potatoes. The cozy atmosphere exudes a charming European vibe, making it an ideal spot for a satisfying lunch. Guests have praised the attentive and friendly staff, emphasizing the fantastic, well-presented, and flavorful food at reasonable prices.
If you like perogies this might be the place for you! Excellent perogies so I am told; they aren't my thing. But the food here is always tasty! The staff are friendly the food is excellent. Fairly small and cozy so it can get busy. Very good spot for Polish style food!

So I went to this Restaurant with zero expectations and left full and satisfied. I ordered the Vienna Schnitzel and meat was most and flavorful and the mashed potatoes where spiced perfectly. The atmosphere was cozy and has a feeling of a little European restaurant. My Polish companion ranked it 7 out 10 and she is very picky.

Delicious perogies. Found this place by recommendation of a client. Food is delicious and highly recommend the perogies and beet soup. The idea of eating a pink soup wasn’t appealing to me but tastes truly great. Service is ok, fast and kind waitresses. Place is small but quiet and gives you that feeling of an old neighbourhood in Europe. In the photos you can see the large (8pc) order of Perogies (meat and potato+cheddar).

SARA is a chic and modern restaurant located off King West, offering an internationally inspired menu with a focus on small plates. The menu features a variety of dishes, including traditional pork dumplings, squid ink dumplings filled with scallops and Alaskan king crab, as well as wings stuffed with spicy shrimp and quinoa pearls.
Our servers were friendly and professional, very knowledgeable and I enjoyed listening to the descriptions for what I was about to eat on the tasting menu. The. Food. Was. Incredible. All the apps were so delicious!!! A truly memorable experience. What an excellent restaurant. I can't wait to go back. I took more videos than pictures but here are some pictures from my time spent there. I wish I took more because I will be dreaming about these dishes until I return again.

Food: 4 Stars Service: 5 Stars Ambience: 4 Stars Sanitary: 4 Stars Overall: 4.25 Stars Note: Complimentary Invite Came to Sara for the first time with my mom for a special event brunch, and we had such a great time. The atmosphere was bright and inviting, with a lovely vibe that made the experience feel a little elevated. The only downside was the seating—it felt a bit tight and not the most comfortable, especially for a larger group setting. We had a set menu that we shared amongst others at the table, which made for a fun and communal experience. The service was absolutely phenomenal—the staff were so friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful from start to finish. Food-wise, there were some definite standouts. The avocado toast had such a rich, creamy avocado topping, though the bread underneath was unfortunately quite hard and a bit tough to bite through. The egg scramble with black truffle was packed with flavour—probably one of the most memorable dishes for me. The maple bacon was perfectly crispy with just the right amount of sweetness. And the French toast? Dreamy. The mascarpone cream and blueberry compote combo was a winner—it was definitely one of my favourites from the entire menu. All in all, it was a great intro to what Sara has to offer. I’m definitely planning to return for dinner soon to see what their evening menu is all about. Looking forward to trying more! xx kellychan360

We dined at Sara for a special occasion dinner. The atmosphere is simple but elevated. The food was delicious, but the warm and friendly service really took the experience the extra mile. We tried their tasting menu and notably had a few different servers bring different courses, however, I appreciated has each one took the time to add some personal commentary outside of explaining the dish they dropped off. I hope to give a special shout out to our main server, Damien, for making us feel so welcome. The steak with miso bearnaise was a standout and ended up being my favourite course of the night. Most surprising was the wagyu beef Reuben sandwich. I would certainly come again to try more of the rest of the menu.

Took my wife to Sara for her birthday and had a wonderful time. Service was fantastic. Efficient, prompt, and welcoming. Did the tasting menu for $90/person (4 of us) and was thoroughly satisfied. Food was beautifully presented, tasty and portions were big enough that we were quite full when done. My favourites were the Wagyu Rueben and the tuna tartare a close second. But really everything was great. Would highly recommend this Michelin guided restaurant!

First ever tasting menu experience, enjoyed it more than expected! Prior to my visit I was doing some research and saw quite some comments about the portion being too small, but I thought it was a good meal with great variety and I definitely didn’t leave with an unsatisfied or disappointed stomach. Taste wise, nothing astonishing to be honest but every dish was executed nicely. For the price and the ambience, I think it was still worth it. Fav dishes were the scallop and the cod with curry!

Hosted a bridal shower for my sister at Sara. All the guests had nothing but great things to say about everything. The team was so great to plan the event with, and highly attentive! Highly recommend for events (and of course regular dinner service because the prix fixe menu is delicious)

We came for Summerlicious, but the $89 tasting menu at SARA quickly stole the show. Some dishes leaned a little salty for my taste, but overall, the variety and quality made for a really satisfying meal. ✨ Highlights from the tasting menu: • Chopped salad: this might be one of the best salads I’ve had this year. It's giving fresh, balanced, flavour-packed. • Bay scallop: My second favorite dish here. The cauliflower crema was silky smooth, the yuzu relish added a gentle brightness, and the chicken crackling gave it that nice crunch. • Argentinian shrimp: delicious on its own, but that tandoori carrot purée? Chef’s kiss. • Wagyu reuben: their most recommended dish, though a bit salty for me. Other bites like the NY striploin, tuna tartare, hamachi sashimi, and latke with ikura were also beautifully done. And we ended on a sweet note with their profiterole. All in all, great food, lovely space, and amazing service. I definitely see myself coming back just for the chopped salad ehehe.

I have been to this bar several times before, and I used to enjoy it. But after my last visit - I don’t want to come back. We had a table reserved, but because of the weather we were moved inside. It was very noisy and not comfortable. The lady who seated us didn’t explain things clearly and didn’t try to understand me. Luckily, a friendly waiter replaced her - he was smiling, joking, and explained everything well. The snacks this time were not tasty. Cocktails were mixed: the first, espresso martini, was made differently than usual and without coffee beans; the second was delicious; the third we didn’t like, but the bartender kindly changed it without any problem - big thanks to him for that! I was also very disappointed about two things. First - the napkin had a hole in it 🙈(even though the cover says Michelin 2022, 2023, 2024). Second - at 9 PM, waiters started cleaning tables with chlorine, and the smell was terrible. 😭🤮 The restaurant was still open, but I could hardly breathe. My English is not good enough to tell the staff about it, so I waited a bit, then my friend and I left. It was a spoiled evening. I am disappointed, will not return, and will not recommend this bar to my friends.😪

Ramen restaurant
Japanese restaurant
Ikkousha Ramen Toronto is a popular eatery offering traditional Japanese ramen, gyoza, and fried chicken wings. With two locations in Toronto, one serving pork-based dishes and the other specializing in chicken ramen, it caters to diverse preferences. The chef's recommended dish is the Signature Tonkotsu, known for its rich and creamy broth true to Hakata-style ramen.
The ramen here is solid, especially the soup base, which is packed with flavour. The line can get long, but it’s totally worth the wait. Prices are fair for the portion size, and service is quick with friendly staff. This was my second visit, and the taste has been consistently great. Just a heads-up: if you’re into spicy food, tread lightly with level 4. My husband, who snacks on chilis like nothing, was sweating and couldn’t finish…..it’s seriously intense!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Authentic Hakata Ramen That Hits the Spot! If you're craving rich, soul-warming tonkotsu ramen, Ikkousha Ramen is the real deal. Their signature Hakata-style ramen features creamy, collagen-rich broth that’s simmered for hours, every spoonful is packed with deep, porky umami. The thin noodles have the perfect chew, and the melt-in-your-mouth chashu pork is simply divine. If you don’t like thin noodles or you think the broth is too salty, you can definitely ask for thicker one and go for the less salty option! I customized mine with extra garlic meat and egg and vege, which took it to the next level. The soft-boiled ajitama egg was another highlight, gooey yolk perfection. The cozy counter seating adds to the authentic Japanese ramen-ya vibe. Service is efficient, and they’re serious about ramen, no frills, just bowls of pure comfort. One of the best ramen spots in town, I’ll be back for sure!
Diddy L — Google review
Today, I ordered the God Fire Ramen. Choice of 4 levels of heat and I chose level 3. Good choice since anything hotter meant not being able to taste anything else. For most looking for spice, I would suggest level one. The pork broth was really thick and tasty. The ramen came with two large slices of pork cha shu, green onions and a good amount of wood ear mushrooms. The thin straight noodles were firm and held the broth really well. Great selection of condiments as you can see in one of the photos. The ramen sauce is very salty with a touch of vinegar. The garlic is freshly chopped and the ginger is your typical red coloured ginger slices. The Takana pickles is a good addition when ordering one of the lighter tasting ramen bowls. I ordered some gyoza also. Very tasty but unfortunately too small for me. Order came with five pieces that were about half the size I am used to. Nice touch was some umeboshi (pickled plum) that added a good level of additional flavour to the gyoza. Service was good and very fast. If I was to choose between their chicken location only a few doors away, I would choose the chicken location. With that being said, I would have to go back again and try some of their other ramen selections to be sure. If you are in the area, either location is a good choice.
Bob K — Google review
Simple, authentic and delicious ramen without any fuss. The service was quick and easy. The portion is great and there is an option to add more noodles. The gyoza is delicious and light, perfect little appetizer. Recommend adding all the pickled sides for more flavour

Amazing ramen!! Great broth and solid portion of food! Service is great and super friendly and attentive. Able to get in without reservation. Not a ton of pace for bigger groups but 4 or less people should be easy enough to snag a table or with minor waits.

One of the best reman in the city. This brand has two shop - one just serve chicken broth one just pork - what a smart idea. The pork one always supper busy with long lines and less lines in the chicken one but just as goood . I like their miso flavor , the black one is bit too rich for me but just show how real this place is on their broth it is so rich just have broth I will be full 😅😻

Tried Ikkousha Ramen in Toronto for the first time, and it was the best ramen I’ve had here! Rich, flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles—it tasted authentic, just like in Japan. The atmosphere was cozy, and the service was great. Highly recommend for real ramen lovers in the city!🍜
Green S — Google review
Ikkousha Ramen in Toronto is a standout spot for lovers of authentic Japanese ramen, especially if you’re craving rich, creamy tonkotsu broth. Originally hailing from Fukuoka, Japan, this popular chain brings a true taste of Hakata-style ramen to the city, and it delivers on all fronts—from flavor to atmosphere. The star of the menu is undoubtedly their classic tonkotsu ramen, known for its milky pork-bone broth that’s been simmered for hours. It’s bold, hearty, and deeply satisfying without feeling overwhelmingly heavy. The noodles are thin and firm, served al dente to hold up perfectly in the broth. You can customize the firmness of the noodles and the richness of the broth, which adds a nice personal touch to the experience. One of the highlights is the chashu pork—tender, flavorful, and marbled just right. The seasoned egg is perfectly soft-boiled, and toppings like wood ear mushrooms, garlic chips, and green onions add layers of texture and flavor. If you’re feeling adventurous, try their black garlic ramen or spicy “God Fire” version, which packs a punch without masking the complexity of the broth. The restaurant has a cozy, no-frills vibe typical of ramen shops in Japan. Service is quick and friendly, making it a great spot for a casual meal. Prices are reasonable given the quality, and portion sizes are generous. Overall, Ikkousha Ramen is a must-visit for any ramen enthusiast in Toronto. Whether you’re looking for comfort food on a cold day or a satisfying meal any time of year, this place delivers the real deal.

Nestled within a busy plaza, this restaurant draws diners with its authentic Shanghai dishes, making it a popular choice for both locals and visitors alike. Guests rave about the delightful Xiao Long Bao and pan-fried dumplings, which are praised for their juicy filling and crisp texture.
The soup dumplings here are hand made, tasted great! My dad's usually a pretty picky eater when out but this is one of the places where he'll such every dish. I had the 紅燒魚, one of the better iterations of the dish I've had. On top of that, service was great and very caring. Would recommend to anyone looking for authentic Shanghai cuisine.

I liked this restaurant. It’s located in an extreme busy plaza and it’s busy too. That means something is going right for them. I went at around 7 PM and they were busy but I waited almost no time. I ordered a lot of food to try 😋 I will say that their dishes taste like any other higher end restaurants. I like most of the dishes ordered, especially the bun & egg with bean curd. I don’t remember pricing for each dish. But if I ordered this much, it shouldn’t be too expensive. Service is great. Staffs are friendly and welcoming. They even tried to stop me from ordering too much food 🥰 Parking can be very tricky 😆 so beware!

The food here is amazing! The Wuxi stewed crystal sugar spare ribs were tender, flavorful, and perfectly sweet. The rice with vegetables and the braised egg paired wonderfully, and the soup was warm and comforting. Great service and a clean, cozy environment. Highly recommend!
Xiaotian Y — Google review
The food quality was poor — the fried rice cake was soggy and overcooked, and the glutinous rice balls in the sweet soup were undercooked, tough, and powdery inside. What made it worse is that it is not an honest business. Several dishes we ordered were not available, but the staff only informed us after serving a few other dishes, rather than at the time of ordering. We would have chosen to dine elsewhere if we were told earlier.

Fantastic experience at this Shanghainese restaurant, the location is excellent, and the food is incredibly fresh and delicious. The xiao long bao 小籠飽,Shanghai noodles 雞麵 & 酸辣湯麵 were standout dishes. Came here with some co-worker for lunch. This is what I consider to be real Chinese food. The server and the owner was also nice to give us a new dish of fried popcorn chicken. All the dishes good. August 8 Chinatown is a casual dining spot that offers an all-you-can-eat menu featuring a fusion of Japanese and Cantonese cuisines. Located in Toronto's Chinatown neighborhood, this restaurant serves up classic dim sum dishes like Steamed Pork Shiu Mai and Chicken Feet with Black Bean Sauce, as well as playful sushi options such as torched sushi and sushi tacos.
One of the best sushi and tataki spots in Toronto. The torched sushi was flames! The tataki was refreshing and dumplings were very delicious. Every dish tasted like it had fresh ingredients and it was overall delightful. I appreciate the fact that all my items came together and I didn’t have to wait very long. The only item on the menu I wasn’t fond of was the pulled beef taco, I wouldn’t recommend it. The beef was too mushy, so I removed it and rather enjoyed the veggies inside of the taco shell, with a big slice of avocado at the bottom. Oh and the wagu beef could have been more tender, but it was better than the pulled beef taco at least. Aside from the pulled beef taco, I definitely enjoyed my meal and would go again. I also recommend paying with cash for the discount.

The service is very attentive. I feel like they check on you whenever they pass by your table, that is every 3 minutes or so. The place has modern lighting you see on every other modern/professional restaurant, so you can expect a decent to great atmosphere when you get inside. I was able to read 8 pages of my book before I got distracted and just focused on the food for the rest of my time lol

I really liked how fast you get your food and most of the food tasted nice and i did like some of the smaller dishes with nice presentation which was a pleasant surprise. I only wish there were sauces or a spice mix to dip some of the meat in like at other bbq places. I also would have liked the vegetable tempura to have been cut thinner..the piumpkin and yam were just way too thick. The fried rice is also for 2 people which is not a bad thing just wish i knew before hand as we would've only ordered 1. Overall i liked this restaurant and would go again. I did like the grilled items over the fried items but most things were good. Fast service and nice variety on the menu. Also they have some nice cakes for dessert

Located cross street from Kensington Market, we parked in the Kensington market parking garage, week days max $14.00. It is not bad as we could have lunch and stroll around Kensington Market. The store is quite small from outside, but quite spacious inside. The lighting is very dim, but the deco is decent. There are many choices for Lunch buffet including sushi, rolls, teriyaki, and dim sum. So we tried a little bit of everything, all we ordered was fresh and tasty. For desert, each person can choose 1 flavor of cake, topped with ice cream and source. It looks very good and tastes even better. The service is good, the way they serve and take away plates is very professional, nothing to complain about. August 8 is a decent sushi buffet that we will go back to.

The atmosphere is calm and the service was excellent, every single waiter I interacted with was polite, friendly, and helpful. I really liked how they use iPads with rugged metal cases for ordering, it’s stable, easy to use, and even hangs off the table to save space. A smart touch! As for the food, everything I ordered arrived without delay and tasted super fresh. The quality is definitely top-notch. For what you get, the prices are very reasonable too. Stumbled upon this family run spot last night thanks to a friend's recommendation and we were all so glad to have tried it. The atmosphere feels very homey, service is great and the food is delicious + reasonably priced. We tried a bunch of vegetarian & non-vegetarian dishes to share (because they can modify the dishes and make them vegetarian) which was amazing. Got some great recommendations from the chef and our personal favourites were: Shanghai noodles, featured egg noodles (got them made vegetarian), braised eggplant (both veg and non-vegetarian) and general Tso chicken! Can't wait to go back very soon!!

I have been wanting to order with Chop Chop since last year lol. I just could not find items that I could pair together that I liked. Like I usually go with the chicken fried rice but not option on the menu. Anyway, I decided to try 15. Sweet and Sour Pork. It appeared to have a good feedback. I didn't think that I would feel differently but I do. I didn't like it much and I was a bit annoyed with myself as it appeared that the General Tso Chicken is a hit or ordered more. I was glad to be able to finally order and I may another time with the noodles as I have seen recent photos and it looks good.

Best General Tso in the city, homemade, fresh and family run. I’ve been coming here since they opened! Always welcoming and the food is amazing.

Nestled in downtown Toronto, Little Sister Dutch Indonesian is a vibrant two-story eatery that brings the flavors of Indonesia to life in a stylish setting complete with a charming patio. This family-style restaurant, an extension of the beloved midtown spot, showcases chef-owner Michael van den Winkel's culinary creativity on weekends as he expertly grills up unique dishes.
Came here for Summerlicious and left so full. $45 for all that food and still had leftovers. Pork slaw was bomb—crispy, salty, tangy. Ceviche was good too but I liked the slaw more. Pork belly + chicken were tender but the sides hit harder. Brussel sprouts were still crispy even with the sweet sauce, and the Indonesian fried rice was unreal, great seasoning. Dessert was solid—good coconut flavour, not too sweet. Cocktails were sweet and easy to drink, didn’t even taste like alcohol. Honestly an underrated spot, would definitely come back.
Valerie P — Google review
Came here for happy hour and the food was good and oh the drinks were fantastic (especially the peach one)! We also transitioned to the regular menu after and most of what we ordered was pretty good. I recommend the croquettes, pork belly, and Brussel sprouts. Restaurant was nice and spacious, with good ambience. The wait staff we had was also so great.
Jon N — Google review
Enjoyable visit to a clearly very popular joint, reservations clearly required for dinner. Our group got some cocktails, the peach tong and electric lemonade got excellent reviews. We decided upon a series of diverse plates looking to try their rendang, tamarind sauces and choices of compositions. Their brussel sprout appetizer was wonderful, Udang Kari a great mix of subtly sweet and savory (excellent to add onto some Nasi Goreng) and the Rendang Jamur mixed the excellent flavor profile with brilliant crisped mushrooms. The Balinese lamb satay was a great way to start out the meal, cool way to introduce those why may not have had kecap manis before. And a quickly eaten ice cream for dessert topped it all off.
Keaton A — Google review
Amazing, so many different flavors that I didn’t know about. Waiter was attentive and informative when selecting dishes. The prices were steep from the portions we received, but it is located downtown so it was understandable. The lamb skewers were my favorite, but everything we tried we would order again: Rendang spiced beef croquettes Grilled Balinese spiced lamb satay Coconut, lime, kecap manis Rendang Jamur North Sumatra style mushroom rendang, crispy fried mushrooms Udang Kari Black Tiger Shrimp poached in a rich fresh turmeric coconut curry Nasi Goreng Indonesian fried rice with egg, mustard greens, gailan & spiced veg, green & crispy onions

A phenomenal experience! We had a great time sharing various small plates in a fun atmosphere and design-oriented setting. The food was delicious. We'd be happy to come again!
Claudio L — Google review
Was really looking forward to this visit but the food did not taste as good as it did before. Most of the food was too salty. The fries and the peanut sauce in the war fries were not very flavourful. Aside from the fries though, the steak was fine!
Michelle — Google review
The fried rice was sold to us in the following manner: my partner ordered a mushroom dish and the waitor asked whether he'd like to have rice to go with it, my partner said yes, and was asked fried rice or plain rice, to which he answered fried rice. It's only when the bill came that we realized the fried rice was $14+ on top of the mushroom dish. We found the wording and practice misleading, hence the 2 stars. Otherwise the flavors were pretty good
Ivy Y — Google review
For appetizers, ordered the lamb skewers, they weren't bad but not amazing and the GF fried chicken was good. For mains, got the pork belly (the flavour was really nice). The Brussel sprouts were alright, they had more of a bitter flavour so you can't eat too much all at once, need to break up the taste. The indonesian fried rice, I didnt really enjoy because it was completely cold when it came so it was extremely disappointing. I think they prepared the dish and it sat there for a long time until the pork and Brussel sprouts were ready but even the pork and brussel sprouts weren't freshly hot when they came so perhaps after everything was ready, the food still sat there before the server came to collect it. It was just disappointing to eat cold food and not be able to truly enjoy the flavors because of it. I would go back to give this place another chance, I think it's nice overall but if there's another issue with being served dishes that are cold, I won't go back. Otherwise the service was decent, we got drinks and they checked in on us from time to time during our visit. However one thing i didn't like was how the server mentioned they will give us 4 skewers instead of 3 since there's 2 of us and so we dont jokingly fight over it. The way he said it made it sound like that's something nice he'll just add for us. When the bill came, we both got charged for it..the charge is not an issue but the way the server positioned it was not right. He could have said we can add a 4th skewer for you guys so you both get 2 each, its just an additional charge of xx. And then we would have said yes.

Chinese restaurant
Mom's Pan-Fried Buns, located in downtown Toronto and Unionville, offers a wide variety of delicious and affordable options, all under $10. The signature buns, appetizers, congee, and noodle dishes are served warm and fresh off the stove. The service is fast and efficient, with a simple menu to understand and quick food delivery. The atmosphere is clean but slightly cramped, with stylish tables and chairs.
My sister and I came here for dinner out and everything was absolutely delicious. The first thing I noticed was the grandma lovingly cooking with pans in the kitchen, which you can see through a window. She was smiling and enjoying herself! The servers were all super nice and friendly as well. The second thing I noticed was the prices: they’re very reasonable! Many uni students were eating dinner around us as you can fill up very fast for little. The portions were big and hearty while the prices are definitely student-friendly. Now the food itself was stellar. The Spicy Squid Skewers were chewy and had a great kick. The Fresh-fried Pork Buns and Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings were so juicy, they burst when you bit into them. And those three dishes alone were lots for two people! We also got their Honey Butter Chicken Wings and Savoury Pancake with Greens. The chicken was seasoned generously and cooked perfectly, and the pancake was a nice reprieve to have some veggies. Lastly, I got the Mango Sago for dessert. Another huge portion and it was easily sharable! The mango flavour was nice and it wasn’t overly sweet. I’ll definitely coming back for more soon. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for filling, delicious Chinese dishes at reasonable prices!

This was hands down one of our favorite meals in Toronto. It’s a no-frills spot but the food was out of this world. There was one woman working the floor, taking orders and greeting everyone, and she handled it like a pro. We ordered buns, noodles, a burger, and seaweed salad, and everything was fresh, fast, and delicious. We left full and happy. Family-friendly and so worth the stop.
Angela C — Google review
Had a wonderful dining experience here!! The pan fried buns were delicious and fresh, it’s not oily but very light and airy. The portions for everything, especially the noodles were very generous for the low price. Would 100% recommend over the other dumpling places on the street, this restaurant feels like home❤️
Amanda — Google review
For the price, 5 stars. The cold noodles were tasty, and the pan fried buns were awesome. The braised beef noodle soup kind of lacked but was good for the price. The steamed dumplings were meh, wish we went fried dumplings. They cheaped out on the cheese powder on the wings, was kind of sad. But for the price, not disappointed at all.
Vinny R — Google review
Everything is made fresh and quick! All dishes are under $10 so it’s an affordable spot. So I come back and try something different on the menu each time. I recommend the pan fried baos - it’s their signature. Crispy bottom with a juicy inside.
Evan — Google review
The food is so heart-warming, fresh and simple - just like home-cooked meals. We ordered braised beef noodle soup and beef with rice. Both of them tasted amazing! Looking forward to visiting more on cold days.
Sneha P — Google review
Very average. Nothing to brag about flavor wise just cheap and acceptable so if I’m lazy to cook and want to not starve, I might go again. Lolo tried a few things and this spicy glass noodle soup is the best item out of all.
JJ — Google review
Mom’s Pan-Fried Bun did not disappoint. Baos were delicious and meat filled. Small dishes were yummy too. Tried the pig intestines(spicy and sweet), fried chicken (crispy and flavourful), and pickled veg and pork noodles. Favourite part was the tofu dessert. It was served fresh and hot. Texture was silky and smooth. One star off for waiting. Gave name and number to staff for waiting in line but seems like they only do first come first serve (not sure why they took down name and number if didn’t use this system, maybe it was lost in translation). Would recommend better wait list system. Otherwise great spot to eat!

If you're looking for an intimate and stylish cocktail bar with Filipino and Pan-Asian influences, look no further than Mother Tongue. This place has a mysterious and cool vibe that will make you feel like you've discovered something special.
Came here for summerlicious 2025 dinner at $55 per person. Immediately loved the cozy dark underground ambiance of the restaurant. Appetizers: Butterfish Escabeche: So simple looking but packed full of flavour. The torched butterfish is so soft and does not taste very fishy at all. As someone who isn't a huge fan of seafood this had me wanting more. 9.1/10 Humba Pork Belly Bao: Super tender pork belly in a a fluffy bao paired with fresh ingridients and an amazing sauce. 8.8/10 Mains Korean Beef Short Rib: Every part of this dish came together so well. Beef is literally fall off the bone, and the sides are great as well. 9/10 Tokyo Miso Black Cod: Super high quality cod in a sauce that I wish there was more of. Although I think the small amount of sauce is intentional to help appreciate the flavour of the fish itself (which is amazing). Dessert This is where the meal falls short though, both desserts were really disappointing. From my knowledge they dont usually have dessert on their regular menu, so I can kinda understand. That being said, I didnt include these desserts when giving 5 stars.
Andy L — Google review
A perfect spot near the theatre for cocktails and dessert with a beautiful interior and good music. The clarified ube milk punch was delicious. I found the sauce on the chow mein overpowering but otherwise enjoyable and I would return to try other items.
Asvini K — Google review
I’ll be honest, I walked into the restaurant with a bias. As someone who’s Chinese, paying $16 for a bao and a bowl of chili noodles felt absurd. But… after tasting everything, I had to admit the food was well-executed and delicious. The ribs, in particular, were sweet, tender, and paired perfectly with the garlic rice. I still think the prices are steep, but once in a while, I could be convinced it’s worth it. Service was warm and attentive, and the inside was unique and intimate, perfect for a date night.

It was my first time coming to this restaurant, it was recommended by a friend of mine. We came to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I can say this is the first time in a VERRYYYY long time that I went to a restaurant and was overly satisfied with EVERYTHING! Our waitress Winta, was the best human I’ve ever came across, she was kind, caring, polite and everything a great person should be! She explained the menu to us from head to toe and was very clear and concise about the options we went for. She made amazing suggestions and kept checking up on us throughout the whole time. We were there past closing as we needed to finish eating, she offered taking pictures even for our group of 5. It felt like having a close friend! I could go on and on, but I hope everyone working there look to her as an example and that she is appreciated. She’s simply the best! I will DEFINITELY COME BACK ASAP! This is officially my new fav spot! 1000000000/10 all across the board. Not a single food option was a missed!

Came here to celebrate a friends birthday and they did a great job taking our cake in advance and bringing it out to our friend. Service was good and so was food. Nothing outstanding but a good spot out of our friends with some great plates. Shrimp Noodles, sticky ribs and bao were great, dumplings and slaw were average. Their ube milk punch cocktail was delicious, with an unexpected presentation, tho I tasted no ube whatsoever
Favia G — Google review
I’m not sure if we would come here again. The food was good, but the portion sizes were really small, especially considering the price. Also, we had a really weird interaction with the hostess. When we first came in, she didn’t make eye contact or acknowledge us but rather, she was clicking on her iPad. The weird thing is that she was not on the phone with anyone, nor was there anyone around asking her about their reservation. It took her probably 2 to 3 minutes before she greeted us, but then told us we needed to wait another minute while she continued to play with her iPad. Finally, she finished and brought us to our table, we told her that we didn’t drink so we didn’t need the drink menu and she responded with a snarky remark which wasn’t really appreciated. The server was nice, however. Not sure if we would come back here, but the food was tasty

Delicious meal at Mother Tongue! Filipino fusion with flavours from Japanese & Chinese cuisines, all meshed together beautifully. Ordered the slaw, butterfish, sinigang & duck dumplings, and the black cod — all were great. Will be back for small bites and a visit to the speakeasy downstairs! Shoutout to Mike for providing attentive service :)

Restaurant
Momo Hut & Gardens is a reliable 24-hour spot that has adjusted its hours during the pandemic to comply with health protocols. Located in the Ossington party strip, it offers a front patio for dining (weather permitting) and provides takeout and delivery options. The menu features cornmeal chicken, breakfast sandwiches, and affordable pints. However, what sets this venue apart is its specialty in Momos, juicy Tibetan dumplings that are housemade and cooked to perfection.
You know how sometimes you stumble across a place and just think, "Wow, I got lucky"? That's Momo Hut & Gardens. I've honestly never seen such a huge range of momos, and they're all done perfectly. The quality? Top-notch. Every single thing I tried was delicious. If you're vegetarian – you'll be in heaven. Most places give you, like, one or two veggie filling options such as cabbage and paneer, but they've got eleven different fillings such as masala cabbage, mushroom, spinach, kale, beetroot to name a few. And then you can get any of these steamed, fried, pan-fried, or with sauces like Tandoori, Jhol and Khat-Sa (spiciest of the bunch). Definitely get the House Salad. It's huge, fresh, perfect for sharing, and just... spot on. A solid 10/10. And if you're not sure what to get, the Assorted Full Momo Platter is the way to go. You can try everything and figure out what you love. I finished off with a Golden Milk tea, which was the perfect way to end the meal. A hidden gem! I am definitely coming back :) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

WOW! The best gluten free momos I have ever had! I had the steamed Jhol momo and Kha-tsa momo with their homemade sauce and they were both amazing. Perfectly balanced flavours, with the right amount of sauce and spice. Especially the jhol momo which was nutty with hints of spice, it was phenomenal. They also were able to provide gluten free soy sauce which is rare, and had many options for gluten free - I was extremely impressed. They were also very friendly and had knowledgeable about cross contamination which was super accommodating. To finish off, we were given their sweet tea, which was delicious! Overall I felt very homey and taken care of and I would HIGHLY recommend for authentic Tibetan momo, it is absolutely worth visiting!!

This place is more than just good food! My partner and I have been regulars at Momo Hut and Gardens for the past 3 years. We love their yummy and reasonably priced food (their variety of meat and vegetarian momos and noodles being our favourite!), calm ambience, and warm customer service. Because of this, we approached them earlier this winter to ask if they would host our summer wedding’s dinner reception. To our delight, Dhondup happily agreed! I wanted to share this review to showcase Momo Hut and Gardens’ amazing hospitality and delicious foods. Since the beginning of the planning process, Dhondup was easy to communicate with and made us feel right at home. Everything we had at our dinner reception is available as part of their regular menu (please see pics). On the day of, Dhondup and Tashi (the two owners of the restaurant) and their 3 staff worked tirelessly, were always listening to our needs, and eager to do what it takes to make our day special and run as smoothly as possible. This included: - Arranging the tables to match our desired layout. - Making sure there was a highchair for a baby, place for a stroller, and a table for diaper changing downstairs. - Hooking us up with a microphone and speaker system to use for our speeches. - Designing a soft meal specifically for my elderly dad which is not available on the regular menu. - Accommodating diverse dietary restrictions including: celiac (gluten free), diary free, nut free, vegetarian, halal, and soft diet. - Pushing out the food according to our schedule with no issues. - Accommodating a family who had to leave earlier by prepacking their desserts so they wouldn’t miss it. Other aspects of the meal that we really enjoyed being able to offer our guests included: - Having a gluten free option for every part of the menu beyond just gluten free momos (appetizer, soup, momos, entrée, and dessert) - Beautiful and fresh mixed meat or mixed vegetarian momos that still matched other special dietary restrictions (like gluten free/diary free/halal) - A mountain of noodles as a shared plate at each table - A unique and yummy chocolate momo dessert (yes, this is also available gluten free!) with ice cream that we have never seen anywhere else. If you’re looking for family friendly Tibetan food with a homey ambience and caring staff, Momo Hut and Gardens serves this up in droves! I highly recommend visiting them for a meal. And if you’re looking to plan a group dinner or need catering for any event, don’t hesitate to chat with Dhondup and/or Tashi about it. We’re very glad we did and they made our wedding reception dinner so special. Thank you, Momo Hut and Gardens!

A Cozy Haven for Momo Lovers! On a chilly, blustery day, I stumbled upon Momo Hut and Gardens, and it turned out to be the best decision I made! From the moment I walked in, I felt an inviting warmth—not just from the cozy ambiance but also from the genuinely friendly and helpful staff. They greeted me with smiles and made me feel instantly at home. I ordered the Non-Veg Momo Platter, eager to try a variety of their offerings. When the platter arrived, I was immediately impressed. The presentation was simple yet appetizing, with beautifully crafted momos arranged neatly, accompanied by an array of vibrant dipping sauces. Each momo was a little pocket of joy—steamed to perfection, with a delicate, tender wrapper that encased a flavorful and juicy filling. The balance of spices was just right, with a subtle kick that made each bite even more enjoyable. What truly elevated the experience were the sauces. The restaurant serves a trio of house-made dipping sauces that are simply fabulous. Each sauce brought something different to the table—a tangy, slightly spicy red chili sauce that packed a punch, a rich, garlicky option that complemented the momos beautifully, and a mild, savory sauce that added depth without overpowering the flavors. I found myself alternating between them, unable to pick a favorite! As I enjoyed my meal, one of the staff members kindly reminded me that my order came with hot chicken broth—a detail I had overlooked but one that turned out to be an absolute lifesaver. The moment I took my first sip, I felt instantly warmed from the inside out. The broth was light yet full of deep, comforting flavors, the kind of soul-soothing warmth you crave on a cold day. This small yet thoughtful touch made all the difference, showing how much the restaurant cares about its guests. Beyond the food, Momo Hut and Gardens has an undeniable charm. The ambiance is relaxed and welcoming, with a rustic yet modern décor that makes it a perfect spot to unwind. Whether you’re dining alone, catching up with friends, or even on a casual date, it’s the kind of place where you can sit back, enjoy your meal, and soak in the atmosphere. The staff’s hospitality was outstanding—attentive without being intrusive, always ready to help with recommendations or a warm conversation. One of the things I truly appreciated was the freshness of the food. It was evident that everything was made with care, using quality ingredients. The momos had that handmade authenticity that sets them apart from the usual fast-food dumplings. It’s rare to find a place that delivers on both taste and experience, but Momo Hut and Gardens does it effortlessly. By the time I finished my meal, I was not only full but genuinely happy and satisfied. This is the kind of restaurant that leaves a lasting impression—one you’ll find yourself recommending to friends and returning to time and again. If you love good food, warm hospitality, and an inviting atmosphere, Momo Hut and Gardens is a must-visit. I, for one, can’t wait to go back for another round of their incredible momos and that life-saving hot broth! Five stars, without a doubt!

This place had some of the best Tibetan Momos that I have had in all of Toronto. A very homey feeling and peaceful restaurant. One unique offering is that they have made in house Gluten free Momos with lots of filling and sauce options. They are conscious about cross contamination and cooking processes, probably good for someone with celiac. I highly recommend checking this spot out if you're craving some amazing Tibetan food! The sweet tea that they give after the meal is a really nice touch.

This place is wonderful! I have been coming to this place for over 3 years now and every time the momo’s have tasted excellent, the noodles were delicious, and the servers along with the Tibetan ambience made me feel welcome and had me walking out smiling and feeling satisfied and grateful that Dhundup and Tashi(the owners) created this restaurant to offer authentic Tibetan food at such an easy to access location within Toronto. This restaurant makes all of their dishes from scratch, with halal, gluten-free, dairy and nut free options and is super affordable. Favorites are the Portobello mushroom momos, their vegetarian and beef stir fry noodles and their unique chocolate dessert momo with ice cream, it is Incredible! My partner and I loved this restaurant so much that we recently held our wedding reception here, which the entire Momo Hut & Gardens team catered comfortably with ease and offered their expertise to coordinate our evening with 30 guests to enjoy an unforgettable night. All of the servers are kind and generous with their smiles throughout the meals I’ve had here. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

We came here because our friends suggested that we visit you! We loved the atmosphere, food and the owner! The momos were delicious and after chatting with the owner, she told us that everything is fresh and hand made. Including the delicious sauces! Which I am going to try and make when I get back to Vancouver 😉 We started with some delicious chicken soup, ordered a full order each of the meat and veggie momos which were soooooooooo delicious, and ended with some tasty cardamom ginger tea 😋. We were also treated to some delicious pumpkin dessert momos. I have to say, I have become a BIG momo fan because of this visit and will need to start making my own momos!!! We ended up ordering take out for our friends too! Thank you for the delicious food and for sharing your culture and history with us! We will be back next time we visit Toronto! 💕

Chinese restaurant
Northern Dumpling Kitchen is a modest establishment that specializes in Northern Chinese cuisine, offering a variety of dishes such as dumplings and fried rice. Unlike other upscale South Chinese restaurants, it eschews fancy decor and extravagant ingredients like foie gras and abalone pastries. Instead, it focuses on delivering hearty, flavorful dishes that are popular in colder regions of China.
This place has delicious food and great staff I will definitely be returning! Such a good price for the portions and quality. Adding this place to my list of favourites! You must try!

This is our go-to place on weekend for its food with reasonable price, highly recommended. There was renovation last year, the interior looks fresh and stylish, but they didn’t increase the price much. The food is very solid whatever we order and service is good too. We love the steamed pork bun and dumplings. Fried pan dumpling is so juicy and yummy too. All the dishes come with big volume and full of flavours. Give it a try and it will not disappoint you.

It’s a cute cozy restaurant located in Time Square. I personally liked this place which is a hidden gem among all other restaurants surrounding it. I was surprised coming in & see the award because it look quite modest outside. They have quite a wide variety (Chinese food to Korean cold noodle) to choose from and i loved all the food ordered that day. Fried pork belly served with pancake is to die for. Pricing is reasonable. Bonus point is the server is very cute 🥰 all of staff members are polite and converse well in English.

Been coming for years and only now writing a review (I’m sorry). It’s just such a great mainstay of comfort dishes. Regular orders include shredded pork with coriander and chili (732, get with a hot bowl of rice!) and onion pancake roll w sliced beef (120, gives Peking duck vibes). Go-to dumplings is classic pork & chive for me. PS mom and dad were skeptical when I ordered 732 and then couldn’t stop commenting how flavourful it was 💖

The first time I went to Northern Dumpling Kitchen was in the winter. The second time was in the summer. It was super hot on that Saturday afternoon. They were very busy and customers kept coming…I shared a table with a few customers but they moved us to the booth. Thus it was so nice of them. It is a small cozy family owned restaurant so the size is modest and I remember it was all occupied. They have quite a various selection to choose from. And the food tastes and look nice and fresh. I think they use “clean” ingredients. I didn’t take many pictures this time. I was looking for the cute waiter from the last time and after a while I recognized him. He wasn’t my server this time 😋. I love their dumpling (steam and fried) the 3 kinds stirred fry veggies dish is just cooked right ❤️ It’s sad to see their rating goes down. Would love to see them stay in the biz. Highly recommend!

Located innTimes Square at Leslie and Hwy 7, this small comfortable restaurant needs a couple small tweaks to be a 5 star destination. The name of the Restaurant doesn’t really fit the way it used to. Their portions were bigger in the past. And their Dumplings are not emphasized or have any serious excitement. Don’t get me wrong, we had the beef dumplings and they were good. But from the name, I expect a minimum of really good or better. They were small or average sized, and a good taste but nothing special. But I will say the staff were very friendly, nice and happy. The food came out sooooo fast and everything was hot and fresh. I will definitely go back, but I may not order the dumplings at Northern Dumpling Kitchen. OR maybe I’ll try a different pork dumpling. I hope they read this and make at least one fantastic Dumpling dish that makes them the 5 star restaurant they could be. Make one dumpling dish that blows people away. Like 20 dumplings for a great deal. Or gigantic dumplings you can’t find anywhere else. Use your name to your advantage instead of a misnomer. Plus, staying open a bit later on the weekend may help get more people interested. I feel this is a critical review, for a high rated review, but I hope you understand I want you to be the 5 star restaurant you could easily be. You are so close!

One of my favourite restaurants in all of Toronto! My family makes sure to visit this spot on regular occasion because of the exceptional Soup Dumplings, Pan-Fried Dumplings, Onion Pancakes and Dandan Noodles. Not to mention the convenient location and pleasant staff; the owner's son is very friendly and is doing a great job. For dessert, I highly recommend the Candied Bananas perfect for large groups. Price is also very reasonable which is rare in today's world.

The menu includes a variety of momos, such as Kurkure Chicken Momos and Steamed Chicken Momos, which are noted to be Halal.
The MoMo House is an all time favourite. We love the quality, quantity and over all value for money. We ordered 6 momo: Chicken and veg Kurkure, Chicken and veg steam, Chicken Chilli and Butter Paneer. All were very very tasty. Must try. The owner offered us a complementary rice sweet dish that was delicious.

Was craving some momos and was waking by so decided to try this spot. Usually I goto Logas corner but thought I'd try something different. Sadly I should have stuck to the good old spots. Ended up ordering takeout. Ordered 3 orders of momos, the pan fried, steamed chili beef and butter beef. Each order comes either 8 momos, so 24 momos in total, ran me $50. So a bit pricey to begin with but thought it may still be worth it. It sadly wasn't. There was only one employee running cash and cooking and doing everything. You ring a bell at the counter for service then order. Was told it would be 5-10 mins. It took over 30 mins for 3 momo orders. There was only two other people there who were already eating so it's not like they were swamped. Im not sure if she got distracted by something else but by the time I got my momos two of the orders were luke warm. The pan fried was good, but the chili was a bit bland and sweet and not spicy. The butter tasted very very bland. Almost no real flavor of butter sauce. Quite disappointing. I did mention to her that that was pretty slow for just 3 orders of momos and was told she's on her own doing everything. I do feel for them but I can't imagine how it would be if there was another person or two ordering before me. Def couldn't recommend this spot and wouldn't be back.

Steamed veggie chili momo were great! Service was very helpful, informative, and friendly! The gent was just lovely! My dietary restrictions can be a pain - basically vegetarian, but I can't eat mushrooms - but actually feel like I got a fairly balanced meal here, in one dish. Wonderful! And it actually had some spice (not a thing I've been experiencing in Canada much so far)! Very happy-making.

I just had my first taste of Tibetan food, and wow, I am thoroughly impressed! We got takeout from The Momo House and everything was absolutely fantastic. We ordered two types of momo: the Chilli Momo and the Kurkure Momo, and both were incredibly flavorful and perfectly prepared. The taste was truly memorable—I can't wait to try more from this cuisine. Beyond the amazing food, the owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, guiding us through the menu and suggesting great dishes to try. We will definitely be back for a dine-in experience, and I highly recommend everyone check out The Momo House!

Let me tell you something: if you want momo, but you DON'T want fomo, you have to get your momo here! The lady was awesome, showed us the whole menu, told us what's traditional, what's spicey, and good golly gosh, when i saw the one with the BUTTER SAUCE??? ...i knew my choice.

Momo’s were next level delicious! I’m just visiting but I wish I lived in Toronto so I could eat these all the time. Also the owner is very friendly and welcoming!

My first time at The MoMo House! I ordered steamed beef momos & fried beef momos! Both were great! I did wish that there was more sauce provided on the side! The staff were very kind and I got my order pretty quickly! As a momo lover, I’d definitely be back!

The service was great, and the place is clean, but the food was just okay — nothing particularly special about it.

Sakai Bar is a cozy, exposed-brick spot on Dundas West that offers an extensive sake list and a menu of rustic Japanese snacks. The bar, owned by former sake brewer Stuart Sakai, exudes an authentic Japanese ambiance with its wooden and paper doors and walls adorned with bottles of Kuheiji. The menu features delectable dishes such as gyoza stuffed with pork, green onion, mustard greens, and ginger.
This is my second visit, and it’s just as good as the first. The pork filet sandwich is especially outstanding—still juicy with perfectly crispy skin. The potato salad, I’m not sure what they added (maybe pickles?), but the texture is surprisingly rich. The beef tongue is cooked beautifully—tender and luscious. The sashimi of the day, which I believe was tuna, is also fresh and mellow. I think this is one of the best izakayas in Toronto.

I recently visited Sakai Bar in Downtown Toronto and tried several dishes along with a highball and beer. The bar is known for its extensive selection of drinks, sake, and spirits, and it delivered a cozy ambiance with an authentic Japanese atmosphere. For food, I ordered the Potato Salad, Katsu Sando, Cold Soba with Oyster, and Beef Tongue. While the flavors were generally good, the portion sizes were extremely small for the price. I understand that smaller portions are common in Japanese cuisine and fit the bar-style dining experience, but here they felt excessively small given the cost. I would recommend coming after a meal if you are mainly looking to enjoy drinks. The Potato Salad was my favorite as it offered a unique and creative mix of mashed potatoes, daikon radish, and ikura that worked beautifully together. The Beef Tongue was decent, though it seemed to be made with mid-quality cuts. The Katsu Sando was disappointing because the tenderloin was not tender at all and contained noticeable sinew, making it difficult to chew. The Cold Soba with Oyster was also underwhelming in both portion and flavor, so I would not recommend it. One major issue I had was with the 18% gratuity. It was noted in small print on the menu but never mentioned verbally, and when the bill arrived, the payment machine still prompted for an additional tip. This practice felt misleading and left a negative final impression. If an automatic gratuity is going to be included, especially for bar seating, it should be clearly communicated to customers. Overall, Sakai Bar is worth visiting for its drinks and atmosphere, but I would not consider it a full dinner destination.

We came here last night and honestly left disappointed. This place positions itself as a snack bar, but the food and pricing just don’t match up. We ordered only four small plates, and the bill for two people came to around $120 CAD — and we still left hungry. The server made the menu sound impressive, talking up the “specials” like the raw fish of the day, but there were no clear prices listed. We ended up being charged $23 for just five thin slices of sashimi, which felt misleading. Other dishes like the beef tartare, beef tongue, and tonkatsu sandwich were very average at best — nothing that justified the price point. On top of that, the bill included an automatic 18% service fee. For a place that isn’t fine dining, I don’t think it’s reasonable to add such a high service charge without telling the customer first, especially when the service wasn’t particularly attentive. To make things worse, they tack on an extra 2.5% fee for paying with a credit card — much higher than the usual 1% you see elsewhere. Overall, this place felt more about marketing than substance. The food is overpriced for the quality, the billing practices aren’t transparent, and the dining experience was underwhelming. It’s one of those spots you try once and never return to.

I went on a solo mission to Sakai Bar because I have no girlfriends. Holy shit. This is a culinary masterpiece. Best restaurant i went to in a minute. A place where a love for food and genuine craftsmanship takes place. Chefs were meticulously working their craft in a small shoulder-to-shoulder kitchen. Began with the house umeshu. Sweet liquor on the rocks to start it off. Spectacular. Every dish was an absolute superstar. The grilled beef tongue, amazingly tender and flavourful. Just the right amount of fattiness. Warm potato salad was crazy rich. It was like a mash with ikura, and some tiny crunchy bits, with an assortment of herbs. Great texture and flavour. But the real generational umami bomb was the seasonal special. A bluefin tuna collar that takes three days to prepare. It was nice to hear a backstory of where the bluefin was caught too, in Nova Scotia. Soaked in a mirin, soy, sake glaze, this bad boy is smoky, a little briney, and crazy tender. The tenderness is kind of similar to a fall off the bone braised short rib, but instead its a real fatty flavourful bite. The collar is one of the most prized cuts on the bluefin, and i was glad to enjoy it. To finish it off, a buckwheat cake. Sweet, decadent, great integrity from the cake. Didnt fall apart, and I was able to enjoy a slow dissection of this dangerously sugary treat. Tad too sweet for me, but a great play with the texture. Again, no flaws from Sakai.. love you will be back. I spilled my drink accidentally and service poured one back up for me. Easily a top 3 restaurant in Toronto and it isn’t 2 or 3. Great vibes, attentive service. Definitely a place to impress your date.

Come and show some support to the restaurant after reviewing some comments:) My friend and I came here to celebrate for my promotion and we had a wonderful night here! The food is amazing and portions are fair. And they have a wide variety of Japanese sake and shochu, which we really enjoyed. All people who served us were super sweet and nice. We tried to order some additional food and they were okay with that and we really appreciated that! We were not aware of the policy that we had to order all at once (that’s something mentioned by others in other reviews) but given the long line it’d be totally understandable if they said no to my additional order — so I really appreciated their accommodation:) (I was excited about the dinner the whole day so I didn’t eat much during the day lol) And sitting at the bar I really enjoyed seeing their teamwork. This restaurant has a great team and everyone was very friendly. Thanks so much for tonight.

A cozy izakaya. The pork katsu sando was even better than the ones I had in Japan. The warm potato salad and dessert were both delicious, and the friendly service made the atmosphere even more relaxing. Even the restroom had a cute Japanese style tatami sliding door, which was a nice touch.

Great food and drinks, great service, great atmosphere. That warm potato salad is a winner, and omg cake and panna cotta were so damn good. 5 stars all around.

We were really disappointed with our experience here. The food just didn’t feel worth the high prices. Portions were extremely small. For example, the braised pork belly was $25 for just one small piece, and the beef tartare, while fine, wasn’t particularly memorable. The cabbage was also a bit too pepper-forward for our taste. On top of that, an automatic 18% gratuity was added to our bill even though there were only two of us. For a total of $78 for two people, I didn’t expect to leave the restaurant hungry. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant unless they either increase their portions or significantly elevate the food quality to match the price point.

Chinese Traditional Buns is a local gem in Chinatown, specializing in North-Eastern Chinese cuisine. Despite its unassuming appearance, this eatery offers some of the best food in the area. The menu features unique specialties like Dan Dan Noodles and Soup Dumplings that are not to be missed. Known for their fresh and reasonably priced dumplings, it's a great option for those looking for authentic Northern Chinese dishes.
I love the fresh, authentic food here. It's super cool to see the dumplings being made just after you order them. The menu is also very vegetarian friendly!

Visiting again and continuously impressed. Delicious food with such a range of flavours and textures. I got the spicy mung bean jelly which continues to be my all-time favourite dish. Spicy and deep flavouring with the soft jelly texture is a treat. Also steamed noodles and a tofu green onion pancake. The noodles are a wonderful staple, and while the pancake was a mistake on my part is was a delicious mistake I'm certain to make again!

Decent place for authentic Chinese food. Ordered lamb skewers, pork and chive buns and their traditional dumplings (forgot the flavour but first one on the menu) in hot and sour soup. Lamb skewers were a bit tiny and fatty. Overcooked as it was chewy. Not recommended. Dumplings were the best part of the meal. Juicy, filing was made perfectly. The soup wasn't spicy at all so you can skip the $1.50 upgrade. The bun was soggy at the bottom so I didn't like it that much. We came at an odd time so the buns weren't fresh. But it does remind me of the taste of China when I visited a few years ago. Recommend for nostalgia feeling but not for first-timers. The entrance door is kind of busted, they should fix it.

The buns and Dan Dan noodles are the only good items. Don't be fooled by the menu high grade lamb noodle soup means offal and no meat and was super greasy. I would recommend not going here. After a disappointing first time we gave them another chance and was not surprised when the quality was even worse this time. This time we had got it via uber eats so it excuse the bowls.. the foam container is the Dan Dan noodles and the lamb noodles is the pic with and then without soup (even our dog would not eat any of it and he loves kidney and liver), That is actually how much filling there were in the lamb soup agin no meat. The beef noodles had a only a few small shredded pieces of beef which was also very disappointing considering how much noodles there are. Ho lan sec.. . Go to Asian legend instead at least there the food is always decent and you don't get disapponted

Ordered their lamb soup with soaked bread. A classic if not the most famous dish from Xi’an. Had a hard time finding this dish I other restaurants in Chinatown. If you want northern authentic Chinese dishes you should definitely go here or any traditional food that isn’t mainly Cantonese which a lot of other restaurants around the neighborhood seems to be. The food itself was really good and be sure to first taste it but then don’t be afraid to add some hot oil and/or vinegar to your liking.

We enjoyed the pork and cabbage dumplings in sour soup, vegetable and tofu steamed buns, and red bean paste steamed buns, all for a good price (and too much food for two). The owner was very generous and so were the portions, said he's been in business for 22 years. It's definitely a hole-in-the-wall local restaurant worth checking out for Chinese food.

*I am a Xiao Long Bao (XLB) enthusiast. I only tried their XLB (Crab & Pork), thus my review is quite limited. The area (Spadina X Dundas) is a mecca for XLB. Chinese Traditional Buns used to have a good reputation among many XIB fans. Yes, about 4 years ago, I visited here and was very impressed by their XLBs. However, about 2 years ago - in the midst of the COVID pandemic, (the time I missed XLB most!) I did take-out order for XLB - I was disappointed. The XLBs were thrown upside-down in the container, all of the XLBs were torn and all the soup ran out of the wrappers. So, I complained. The staff (who is the owner/cook) agreed to replace the order with a better one. The replaced one was good. But then, recently, I ordered XLB take-out again. When I called, the owner/cook recognized me. Again, I asked him to be very careful when transferring XLBs to a container. "Yes yes yes," he said. I arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before the XLBs were done. This place has an open kitchen so I was observing how XLBs are handled. I again asked him to be very careful. He said, "Yes yes yes". But I observed him putting the bamboo steamer upside-down to inconsiderately throw the XLBs into a container and SHOOK it (WHY?!). I do not understand! I wanted to scream! As I expected - all the XLBs were torn and the soup was running out and pooled in the container. AGAIN. So sad. Also, the XLBs lost crab flavor significantly. And the soup pooled in there was mysteriously oily. The wrappers were rubbery. They were not like this bad before. I respect XLB's delicacy. I do not think the person who makes it understands it. I do not know about the other items in the restaurant. But I do not recommend XLBs here at all anymore. Very very disappointing, and sad losing one of the better XLBs in Toronto.

Other some bickering amongst staff, food and service were great. Good vegetarian selection, non pork dumpling options (chicken and mushroom was yummy, chives and egg is a classic). Lamb soup with bread was generous in portion, meat and bread chunks which remained chewy after soaking. Sesame glutinous rice balls is my favourite.
