The whole restaurant is 100% gluten free!!! I don't have enough words to describe how good the food was, also for the non-celiacs! Thank you Tomas for the best dinner in Budapest so far! If you're in Budapest visiting Bohemtanya is an absolute must! We will absolutely be back.

What a dream to have a 100% gluten free restaurant! Super friendly staff, and they are quite multilingual, useful for tourists. I had the beef goulash with dumplings and the somloi galuska - both delicious, taste like home cooking but elevated!

Beyond being a great gluten free restaurant, the staff are really lovely, attentive and kind. FOOD: They have a variety of vegetarian and meat dishes, most are traditional Hungarian. Served usually high quality ingredients and priced reasonably. INTERIOR: There were varied areas for private dining with a group, small booths for couples or large tables for bigger groups. ACCESSIBILITY: The whole place seems wheelchair, walker and pram friendly. OVERALL: Great to eat local Hungarian food, safely gluten free. Highly recommend!

Gluten free but lots of soy, which I am allergic to. The waiter was very sweet and attentive about checking my food though. Fast service, solid food, my husband was quite pleased as he is a big beef and potatoes kinda guy.

All gluten free and many fried dishes that I normally never get to taste. We had the bohemian plate for two. Chicken, snitzel and two mushrooms, rice, fries and tartar sauce. Very nice and crispy. Lacking completely in vegetables if you don’t count some raw red onion. The cakes were nothing special. The serving staff did a really good job and were in such a good mood.

I would not recommend this place - yes it is gluten free but unfortunately the overall food quality is really low. No reason not to serve fresh csalamádé (it was soft and old, supposed to be crunchier when fresh) as that’s gluten-free anyway. My hortobágyi húsos palacsinta had watery tomato sauce on it which is not even remotely what it is meant to be on it. The pancake was burnt and we had a bone in the filling. Also it was obvious it was frozen before. We’ve left nearly all of it and wasn’t even asked what was wrong. Then came the main dish, which was the Borzoska - see picture, it’s nothing what it should be. It tasted like it was fried in a two weeks old oil. The Gulyas soup was okay but that’s about is. Also there was no aircon inside which is not ideal when it’s 35+ degrees outside. Overall it’s a shame that gluten free people think this is what Hungarian food is, I would recommend to go somewhere else. Also hoping we just were there on a day where the chef was off or something and this isn’t the standard. Disclaimer: I’ve told them at the end about the starter with the bone and they did take it off of the bill, but in reality also the main should have been taken off.

The food is very tasty. It does not take a long time for the food to be prepared and served, although due to the high volume of clients, the service is definitely slow. In a way to compensate us, they have made a discount, which was very generous from their side.

Good place for breakfast. All you may want. Presentation is esquisite. Plates are presented spectacular and clean. The belgian waffles are really good buck the chocolate is too liquid for my liking. Orange juice and coffee was perfect.

The staff are incredibly kind, friendly, and always greet you with a smile. Other restaurants could really take an example from their amazing service. Cirkusz Café is one of Budapest’s more popular brunch spots, often recommended in travel guides and social media posts, and you can definitely see why. The interior has a stylish, somewhat upscale vibe, with a modern-industrial look and a lively atmosphere. It feels like the kind of place that wants to impress, and in many ways, it does. The presentation of the food is beautiful, and the service is friendly and professional. However, once you get past the first impression, the experience doesn’t quite live up to the hype. The menu is creative and well-curated, with plenty of brunch classics, but the portions are noticeably small for the price. It’s definitely on the expensive side, especially compared to other great cafés in Budapest that offer similar or even better quality at a lower cost. You might find yourself leaving still a bit hungry, not exactly ideal for a hearty morning meal. That said, the food itself is good. The eggs are cooked perfectly, the coffee is strong and well-made, and everything looks like it came straight from a food magazine. Still, the high prices and limited portions make it hard to justify as a regular spot, unless you’re specifically after the experience rather than the meal. In short, Cirkusz Café is a nice place to visit once, especially if you want a stylish brunch setting and don’t mind paying extra for presentation and ambiance. But if you’re after good value, generous servings, and a more relaxed feel, there are plenty of better options around the city. It’s lovely, just not quite worth the hype or the price tag.

Actually we had a good breakfast. The recovery breakfast was good enough to fill you up. The roast beef benedict was different but good, I never had this kind of benedict that has a roast beef 10/10. Wait time to be seated is around at least 10 minutes. It was a tasty breakfast overall.

Always a perfect start to the day! Cirkusz Café has been my favorite breakfast spot in Budapest for years. The food is always delicious, and I have huge respect for the chefs who work tirelessly from early morning till afternoon - yet the quality never drops. The bartenders and waiters are true hard workers too - they never seem to have a single free moment, yet they always remain friendly and professional. Every time I come back to Budapest, I make sure to visit, and it makes me genuinely happy to see a line forming outside - it means the team is doing everything right. Always friendly, always tasty, always warm and welcoming. And, of course, it’s always a pleasure to watch the handsome guys cooking your food!☺️

The cappuccino was absolutely delicious, and the coffee itself had great flavor. The waffle was really impressive – we ordered the American waffle and it was fantastic. We also tried another dish with bread, spinach, and egg – very tasty, healthy, and satisfying. The staff were outstanding – very friendly, well-organized, and professional. The place was clean, with excellent hygiene and a well-maintained environment. It’s also a lovely spot to enjoy breakfast and then go for a walk around the beautiful surroundings. We came here for brunch and had the Turkish eggs, a savory toast, an espresso tonic, and a chai latte. The Turkish eggs were excellent – plenty of high-quality yogurt served with fresh sourdough bread. Delicious! The chai latte was beautifully balanced – not overly sweet, full of flavor, and incredibly comforting. We also appreciated that pets are welcome – we were there with our dog and had no issues at all. There is a 12% service fee, but the staff kindly asked if they could include it and whether everything was okay, which we found very respectful. We were very happy with the service, so we would have tipped around the same amount anyway. Overall, a great experience – highly recommended!

A great independent eatery with a lovely chilled atmosphere and fantastic service. Breakfast sandwiches and French toast are the main options. All of the sandwiches can also be made as a gluten free option and our coeliac son loved his. The coffee was also excellent. Would definitely recommend.

First of all, I would like to highlight the friendliness and patience of the staff. We visited the cafe during a rush hour. Even though we didn't have a reservation, we were welcomed and served nicely. The coffees are excellent so are the food. The restaurant is small but has a nice atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit again. Next time, we'll try the fried pickles. :)

Our favourite brunch spot in Budapest, over the years it has become a tradition to visit the place and have a morning beer when visiting the city. This time we got the Mr Molnár and Where the ... am I?, both delicious and definitely filling. If you are in Budapest, I recommend you don't miss this place.

This is my absolute favorite spot for brunch in Budapest. There is a limited menu that sometimes changes seasonally, but nothing disappoints. My favorite is the grilled cheese selection and the Mr. Molnar with fried pickles. The coffee is phenomenal as well! It is very small inside, but there hasn’t been any issues with getting a seat. I’ll always come back here!

Our favorite breakfast place. We went 2 consecutive days as the variety of products will bet you surprised everytime :) We've tried sandwiches and also sweet products and all were amazing. I especially recommend the pretzel sandwich and the pistacchio croissant.

Easily the BEST coffee and pastries in Budapest. We tried Espresso Tonic, their Kombucha and Matcha tonic. Also had their pistachio croissant and crème brûlée croissant- both absolutely to die for. Also the veggies and goat cheese pasty looked great. For best coffee go to VAJ across the city.

Expensive but there’s a reason why it costs so much. They sell the best pistachio croissant I’ve had in my life. Perfect blend of creaminess, nuttiness and crunch from the pistachio creme. The coffee is solid as well. Would highly recommend to anyone who’s looking for the best breakfast experience in Budapest.

We visited Vaj Bakery and absolutely enjoyed the experience. We tried their famous pistachio croissant, which was really good with just the right amount of sweetness. The vegetarian toast sandwich was warm, fresh, and delicious, and the coffee was equally nice. The outlet we visited had outdoor seating, and it was pleasant to sit outside. They also have multiple outlets across the city.

During my whole trip, I was on the lookout for a proper pastry shop - mainly for croissants and, most importantly, macarons. I stumbled upon this place almost by chance and was more than satisfied! For me, macarons are the true test of a pâtisserie, and here they were truly worthy. Croissants were excellent as well. I also liked the semi-self-service concept - makes the experience simple and relaxed. Highly recommended! 🌿

Amazing bakery with incredible pastries (worth the wait!) Vaj Bakery is truly one of the best bakeries I’ve visited — Scandinavian-inspired and absolutely delicious. There was a long line when we arrived, but it moved super quickly. The staff were friendly and efficient. It’s quite crowded outside, and there are lots of pigeons hanging around hoping for leftovers. But if you’re patient, tables free up pretty quickly. I tried the pistachio croissant — 10/10, with a rich, intense pistachio flavor. The vanilla poppy seed roll blew me away — the combination was amazing, full of flavor with delicious vanilla cream and perfect dough. One of my friends had the bostock croissant, and it was mind-blowing — another 10/10! And savoury one with pesto and dried tomatoes was guite delicious as well! Coffee was good quality too, a nice pairing with the pastries. A fantastic spot for pastry lovers. Crowded, but absolutely worth it for the quality of the food.

Rare find; fine dining restaurant serving up 100% gluten and lactose free meals. FOOD: A range of meat and vegetarian and vegan dishes, including chicken, beef, pork and fake meat options. Pictured is a vegan lasagna. They also have a range of soups, salads and chef specials of the day. NOTE: Oddly, they don't have bread on the menu. I asked for some and it was like a multigrain baguette which was really good. It was around 500HUF, I would recommend ordering this. PRICING: We spent around $60 USD between us and I suspect it could cost around $45 USD per person if you're not sharing. STAFF: Very attentive and friendly. They speak fluent English and are able to assist with any enquiries. LOCATION: In the city centre with some free street parking available (although very limited). ACCESSIBILITY: Within the restaurant would be fine, they have in and outdoor seating ideal for kids, prams etc, there are however a couple of steps to the bathroom. The restaurant would easily fit individuals to groups of 14 or so. It's a suprisingly large space. OVERALL: Highly recommend and would come back (small note: the French crepe restaurant next door also does gf savoury buckwheat crepes).

Very nice surprise in the center of Budapest, close to the Opera. We went there without a reservation on Tuesday evening and it turned out the place will be fully booked. Despite this, the waitress was very helpful and suggested we could stay for 1 hour if we want to. The drinks and the food arrived very quickly and were very good. There were only two ladies handling the whole restaurant which was amazing and they could still do it with a smile on their face. The restaurant has multiple options for people with gluten and dairy intolerance.

The best service and food we’ve had since arriving in Budapest. The menu offered so much to choose from including meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan dishes. The added bonus was they were all gluten free and lactose free so there was no chance whatsoever of cross contamination. Every dish we ordered was full of flavour; absolutely delicious! Our server was excellent at her job and offered the best service we’ve had since our arrival. She helped us choose a Hungarian wine as we had no reference point. It turned out to pair beautifully with our food. Highly recommended from a complete foodie and a stickler for excellent service!

We visited the place as my son is celiac. It’s not a bad place but not great either. The Caesar salad was one of the worst I’ve had and the gin+soda I ordered was very watered down. The burger my son had was ok. Service was ok but not worth the service charge. Maybe we had too high expectations.. Overall, I would say it’s too expensive for what it is.

I had dinner here with two boys. We ordered three mains and a salad. We waited for our food for well over an hour, nothing arrived not even the salad. My kids were starving. I asked a couple of times when the food would be coming, the waiters apologized but nothing more. The restaurant was half empty. People who arrived after us got starters , mains, and had already left before we got the food. We received no compensation, not a drink or a dessert or a discount of any sort. I've never waited so long for food in my entire life. The food itself was okay. Not bad but definitely not worth the wait. I hate posting negative reviews especially for gluten free restaurants - my son has celiac and i want to give such restaurants as much love and business as possible. But in this case there are better options and better value for money elsewhere in Budapest. On the positive side I must say the sangria was excellent.

Even if you are not gluten and laktoz tolerant the food was delicious and your friends who are, they are happy to eat a good burger so yes ! Definitely a good place!

Elegant , clean & bright cafe . We booked a table online as it stated becoming full & busy with people all having breakfast there We were group of 7 , each wanted to try something different , eggs / yogurt with fruit and granola , french toast with fruit . I Ordered avocado toast which was delicious & lovely presented . We all enjoyed our breakfast and the service was great Staff were aware of the food allergies, as one of us ordered gluten free bread with their breakfast The only thing was the coffee was cold because it’s from a machine and the milk was cold so next time mention to them if u like ur coffee hot like me !!

Everything is homemade, and you can taste it — the yoghurt with granola that’s gently toasted and not too sweet, eggs that arrive at just the right temperature, and sauces that actually have depth rather than decoration. The menu is broad without feeling random: Benedicts in several variations, light pancakes, French toast, seasonal fruit, and the kind of fresh juices that don’t taste like they’ve travelled through a bottle. You can eat here five mornings in a row and never repeat yourself — and still want to come back. It’s a rare mix of consistency and quiet ambition — simple food, done perfectly.

The food was good and very esthetic like the rest of the restaurant. The service was great the only thing is that the food took some time and the restaurant wasn’t that full. We liked the options there’s a nice versatile in the food. We will definitely be back to try the American pancakes.

Good and classy. Our brunch was very good here. I had the best avocado toast I ever had. The pomegranate seeds were a perfect sweetness to the mild spice/heat of the salsa guac. The egg on top was just the right amount of gooey inside. Bacon on the side. She had the Japanese pancake. It had a sweet matcha sauce inside. Definitely recommend it, however ask for extra strawberry sauce as the pancake can be a little dry. Very unique; we loved it. This place is a bit pricey but perfect for a special breakfast or brunch. Normal drink options for a brunch place. Coke products in a glass bottle. Average portions.

It was my second time here, and I will come again. Food is delicious, the waiters were polite and kind, the atmosphere is beautiful. For the second time, some issues must have come up as food was really late, however, they apologised and compensated us, so all good. Give it a try!

First time we got burnt coffee. The food was not good, the tomatoes were soggy, and the pomegranate were old and soggy, the egg was really the smallest I’ve ever seen and so out of proportions to the bread. The knives were dull so cutting the sourdough was a real mission. All in all this was the worst breakfast and we recommend going elsewhere

I honestly did not expect to find gluten-free & vegan langos in Budapest, but this restaurant made it possible even for people with food intolerancies. That is awesome. There is enough chairs to sit inside or outside, no need to book a reservation. This place is very popular, but staff are working really fast. Standard langos is prepared in 2-3 minutes, for gluten-free langos I had to wait around 10 minutes, but it was completely fine for me. The portion is quite generous, I was really full after eating it. Taste was awesome, just like regular langos although this was vegan & gluten-free. Next time I will just ask for more garlic, otherwise it was simply perfect. I know where to stop next time when I am in Budapest.

The lángos were absolutely delicious. It gets quite crowded around lunchtime, but it's definitely worth the wait. We tried lángos at several places around Budapest, and I’d highly recommend it. The atmosphere was great, too.

LOVED the place, so budget friendly, fast, tasty AND clean! For 3 people we paid a total of 38€ (with drinks!) I recommend the Langos with ham and rucolla and the one with chicken tzatziki! Also, for drinks I recommend the Dreher Meggy (has a sweet cherry taste). Would definitely come here again and recommend this place to a friend visiting Budapest :)

We were told to try the Langos while in Budapest. We chose Retro for a combination of convenience and after searching other nearby restaurants for Langos. We were thinking it would be sit down type restaurant, but you order your Langos at one counter, and your drink at another, which was fine. The food came out quick, afterall, the Langos can be fried/prepared fairly quickly and then topped with your favorites. We enjoyed what we had. Surprised these haven't been introduced here in the states.

Didn’t know Langos is this tasty. I didn’t expect much but the combo of the dough/sour cream/cheese & fried onion was absolutely amazing. The restaurant is very casual so you can really sit anywhere. Easy to order things over the counter and they serve it to you at the table. The restaurant itself is small inside but they have ample seating outside. We got lucky with the seating. This place is located a busy area and easy to get to some metros around the area. Highly recommend trying this place.

Been coming here since 2021, got hooked up on their coffee and brunch! Staff is friendly, professional. Atmosphere is welcoming and spacious. Best coffee and brunch in town. Would recommend for everyone to try iced nitro latte at least once in their life.

i loved the vibes of the place! it’s very cozy with seating outside as well. we ordered a banana cake, pain au chocolat, and a croissant and it was all really delicious. coffee is good as well. service was also really amazing, the people were kind and friendly!

We had a reservation and we got a table immediately. Unfortunately my coffee wasn't very hot. Food was quite good. I also had smoked salmon. It was probably the cheapest salmon you can buy in a shop, very light,pale and unfortunately there were a few bones in it, which has never happened to me before. My boyfried had bacon, which was completely cold, fried in advance. We wanted a croissant but it was gone at 9:30. So I had a banana bread. It wasn’t very good. My first homemade banana was better. We won’t come back. There are bettter restaurants for breakfast in Budapest.

Zoska is a great place to have brunch in Budapest. The prices are super considering the quality of the food they serve! I also really liked the interior design of the restaurant.

The place seems cozy, but it’s quite crowded, felt kind of like sardines. the coffe is nice. there’s vegan/vegetarian options available for example alternative milk.

🍳 I decided to try out a more local Budapest vibe and I loved having breakfast here! I opted for the scrambled eggs menu with a drink included and it was delicious! 🤗 It's a very cosy and attractive space and the staff are very friendly and professional. I have to mention the service of Attila, who not only did his duty but also offered to give me suggestions on what to visit and discover in Budapest. 😋 I was travelling alone, but I think this is the ideal environment for socialising with friends and having a good meal. Very cheap but quality breakfast! Considering the average price of a breakfast meal today in Budapest, this is a very cheap option, but the quality doesn't lack! Had a perfect fluffy bread, a very tasty american pancake with delicious fruits, and fine oatmeal ( wasn't sweet enough for my taste). Overall, mainly because of the price but the best place in town!

Was there yesterday at lunch with my wife and my daughter. Place is dirty, smelly and quality of our food terrible. 5c outside and door completely open since inside the smell of burned bread and food is too much but still doesnt help. I walked down to the toilet and dirty was even more, the stairs are covered with some old ugly, dirty, broken black rubber...and then you find yourself in front of the kitchen next to the toilet :o Not my place at all

A very nice cafe for breakfast and brunch down town. The waitress was very kind and the service was very quick. We have ordered scramble eggs, French toast and pancakes with marple syrup with cappuccinos. Everything was very tasty in normal portion and price.

My new favourite artisan/vegan coffee/cake shop in Pest, hands down! They have this amazing thing called sweet gorilla, i would discribe it as an in-house brewed (coffee and cocoa) mocha. Its the best, creamiest, cleanest and smoothest tasting amazing chocolaty coffee creation, that i can just not get out of my head. I loved the name so we had to order it cold (for me) and hot (for my partner) both were exceptional. I also appreciated the glass straw mine was served with. We tried the vegan ice-creams, i liked the mango best. We also sampled kne cake on the premises (strawberry matcha - was very good) and took a box of 4 home to try - the round raspberry was my fav, everyone loved the fusia punk one, the chai latte caramel is very good if you like those flavours. And the tiramisù for me was a bit too nutty tasting but still good. Service is very meticulous, helpful and friendly so just ask fir recommendations when you are there. Absolute must for all to take a photo on the hanging-trunk swing inside! Note: at the moment they are open from Thursday to Sunday only.

Loved everything I had here, especially sugar free coconut ice cream. So good. If you're not sure what to have, give it a try. The pistachio one was okay, not really to my liking. Matcha-mango pie was also really good, refreshing and not too sweet.

Stopped by after shopping the Sunday market. What a great little find! Not only is the cafe adorable with so many coffee, tea and gelato options (vegan and Paleo options too), but the service was also personable. They were also thoughtful in helping me sort my currency. Highly recommend!

Absolutely lovely place. I went there for brunch twice and the area, the villa, the food and the staff are great! Perfect if you want to go a little further than the city centre and still get that nice chill vibe of being away from the city without going too far

Unfortunately expected more from food. My burger had burnt buns , I’m not sure you can serve it in such conditions. Waffle was slim and dry. I wouldn’t repeat my order unfortunately, it was okay but for sure not the best in the town. Service and the view were perfect.

If you are a fan of stadium food and miniscule portions, this is the place! You also need at least half an hour, to get such a meal. Don't forget to ask for a bread on the side, otherwise you won't be given any. Based on other opinions, something went terribly wrong, as we weren't even given plates. Were we scammed because we are tourists? High possibility, as it isn't something you'd expect even for half of 9500ft we've paid. That's not a language barrier, that's being predatory and unaccommodating. I've eaten in many countries and never had such an issue. It's a shame, because the place has a cosy and spacious garden, inside looks nice as well, even the baked goods looks promising. Just don't go there as a tourist it seems. Probably a great place for Hungarians though.

Friendly staff who speak English & happy to assist with specific diet requirements. Quick service. On the pricer side (1 dish, cake & coffee cost USD 30!) but worth a visit.

The eggs were quite cold. The Hollandaise sauce needs work, I think the spinach was cooked from frozen as it was mush. The toast was soggy, it needed an extra minute to toast. Good coffee. They forgot our water!.

We were there for visiting Gül Baba Monument. We found it by google maps. The staff was unbelievable friendly. We had our toddler with us who is a picky eater. They kindly found some food for him he likes and served it already in little bites. Also they brought some paper and pens for the kids. They served all the food almost the same time and gave us pretty fast some extras on top. It is a small oasis in Budapest with nice fresh food and the friendliest staff!!

Franziska Buda is located on a beautiful side street, not far from the Danube. The location is perfect, as you can sit here without much noise and have great conversations. The ambience is modern and chic, and it's great that the café is both child- and dog-friendly. You feel welcome right away. The service was fast, courteous, and very helpful. You can tell that the staff enjoys what they do. We were particularly impressed by the food: the selection is great, and the quality is excellent. A huge plus is the large vegan selection, which goes far beyond the usual. All in all, Franziska Buda is a perfect place for a relaxed breakfast or brunch. Highly recommended!

I loved this place! Not as busy and instagrammable as the other places you may be reccomended, but the food is delish. The place is cute and cozy, the people are so nice, and the breakfast items were all delicious. I would go here over any of the hyped up places any day.

I stopped by this café near my Airbnb around 8:00 a.m. while my family was still asleep, recovering from jet lag. The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service, speaking English fluently. I truly enjoyed the peaceful morning ambiance—savoring a delicious early brunch (Turkish Eggs), the fresh breeze, and the soothing sound of birds chirping. The mango smoothie bowl was also fantastic, and my daughters absolutely loved it!

It was quite expensive but overall really good food and great quality. Also the menu was not really diverse but it's okay. Matcha strawberry was incredible

For those who love healthy food. I highly recommend this place. It’s often hard for me to find a restaurant where I’d gladly eat anything from the menu, since I’m not a fan of burgers, pizzas, and so on, but here, everything feels like it was made just for me. First of all…great atmosphere. Nice furniture, lights and music. Second…the coffee was great. We’ve had an oat milk flat white and espresso tonic, both well balanced and tasty. The food was really good. The bagel was on the dryer side and would use a splash of hollandaise, but overall there were no major issues. But…there was one thing bothering our minds during our brunch. The lack of table service. The instruction to order at the bar was buried deep in the menu. If we hadn’t wanted to order food, we might not even known. And we were asked to pay immediately after ordering. Was giving unwelcoming. There were four people behind the bar. It seemed reasonable to expect them to take orders at tables. Especially when the spot is not the cheapest and has otherwise a very professional vibe.

I rarely go back to the same place when visiting a new city. We had to return to dorado for their amazing coffee and even more delicious sourdough toast breakfast. The eggs with sourdough are exquisite. The setting is super cozy and inviting. I’ll definitely come back if I come back to Budapest ⭐️

We had a croissant and breakfast pancakes. Both were delicious along with the coffee! One of the coolest spots in town. The place turns into a natural wine bar called Bar Lola in the evening, we love that one too :)

As we walked in we were looked at like we are from a different planet. So we sat down and noticed there is no menu so went to ask the cashier. We ordered creamy broccoli soup, the snack plate and waffles in this cute little place. The broccoli soup came really quickly and it was actually really delicious. The snack plate took some time to arrive, which is understandable since there are a lot of veggies to cut. The veggies were fresh and the bread and the cheese were really good. The tomato salsa and the guacamole not so much, they lacked taste. It took a lot of time to get the waffles, I was about to go ask about them, but then they finally arrived. The gluten free waffle itself was like cardboard, not very good, but fortunately the ice cream and the syrup along with berries made it desserty enough. The staff was super nice though, so props for them for being really really nice. I wish everyone was that nice in Budapest.

My friend and I went to Herbar yesterday. On the sign it said "Vegan & gluten-free." Unfortunately, we had to pay extra for vegan milk, which was surprising, since in fully vegan places you usually don’t pay more – and we didn’t expect cow’s milk to be offered at all. If we hadn’t specifically asked about the milk, they would have served us cow’s milk by default. Apart from that, the food was good, but the drinks were disappointing. I ordered a smoothie that didn’t taste fresh, it was very cold and felt like it was made with a lot of crushed ice. My friend had a coffee, which also didn’t taste good. It was mixed with too much syrup, the flavor was far from a proper coffee, and again, there was a lot of ice. Unfortunately, our overall experience wasn’t great. Even the staff weren’t particularly friendly when we asked for another coffee. They did make a new one, but only after a bit of discussion. All in all, I’d say it’s a good place to eat, but if you’re looking for a good coffee, we’d recommend going somewhere else.

The food and service is pretty forgettable, the only thing that’s good about this place is its location and they definitely charge that in their prices. Do not get the mojitos though and spare some money, because it tastes like some cheap sparkling water with a couple slices of lime in it to make it look good - wouldn’t be able to tell that it’s also got alcohol in it, or anything else for that matter.

Good atmosphere and the waiter was great! However the food wasnt as good as you'd think it be with these prices. We had fish n chips, risotto and potato dumplings. The fish was very soggy, no crisp at all. Risotto was tasty but a bit too al dente for my taste but the dumplings were very nice. For dessert we had brownie and a NYE special donuts with apricots. Sadly the brownie was dry as concrete and not tasty. Donuts were decent but a little bit too greasy. Overall an OK experience but for the price you'd expect a little bit more. The polite and funny waiter made the it much better and we will give it another chance only because of him. Bathroom was fresch and clean!

The service here is amazing. Arrived about 20 minutes before closing, and the staff was very nice. They did their best to speak English and help with the selection. I was waiting for my waffle, and the worker was apologetic about them not having the toppings I ordered and helped me pick a different one. Overall a really positive experience. The bubble waffles are fresh and delicious, can recommend with raspberry jam. Thank you to the lovely staff serving us, even though it was late at night.

If you want to see the venue and want amazing pictures go for it. Try and come early or late to avoid the queues. It is very beautiful inside. However if you not fussed about the fuss then avoid. I think its good to see and experience once. Service was ok. We went with time and just chilled. Was overall a good experience. The live violinist was really nice. The history of the place is amazing. There were some vegan options. The hot chocolate was very filling and rich.

I went to New York Cafe in Budapest to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, and it was honestly a terrible experience. I spoke with the waiter beforehand to bring a dessert with a candle after we finished our meal. After eating, we waited a very long time, watching other tables get cakes with candles while nothing came to ours. I went to another waiter to remind him about the dessert — he said okay, but again, nothing happened. Eventually, we asked for the bill, and guess what? The dessert was added to it even though it never arrived. I told them I wouldn’t pay for something that was never brought, and only then did a lady finally come with the dessert — with the candle already blown out — and asked my boyfriend if it was his birthday. Seriously, who does that? It completely ruined the moment. We waited forever, the food was not worth the hype, and the service was unbelievably poor. I understand it’s a busy place, but that just shows what happens when there’s no competent management. Definitely not worth even one star.

Not worth the money if you’re going for food or coffee at New York Café. Overpriced, with the decoration being the only thing that stands out but toilets decoration is pretty poor. We visited New York Café Budapest expecting a proper gourmet experience, and while the place itself is absolutely stunning, the food really missed the mark. To be fair, the decor is gorgeous—the chandeliers and lighting give the whole place a really special vibe, and the live piano music creates a warm, cosy atmosphere. Visually, it’s pretty incredible. But the food was a real letdown. The coffee had barely any flavour, and my partner’s coffee even came out cold, so we had to send it back. He ordered the Hungarian eggs, which were alright, but my eggs Benedict were honestly a shocker. The muffin was so dry and tough it was nearly impossible to cut—nothing like the soft, fluffy base you’d expect from a proper eggs Benny. Overall, the venue is beautiful and the ambiance is spot-on, but the food just didn’t deliver. For such a famous spot, the whole dining experience was pretty disappointing and definitely didn’t live up to the hype.

My mom & I visited the café on two different days, and both experiences were absolutely wonderful. The stunning interior and elegant atmosphere make it a must-visit in Budapest it truly feels like dining inside a palace! On our first day, Gergely, who attended to us was very professional and composed. I believe he’s one of the managers, and his presence and attention to detail made a great impression On our second day, we were warmly attended by Stefi, who was always smiling, attentive, and genuinely kind. Her positive energy made our visit extra special. The food, coffee, and desserts were excellent, but it’s really the staff. If you're lucky enough to be served by Stefi you're in for a treat! 🌟

The place is quite touristy, and even on a late weekday evening there was still a short queue. Despite its large size with at least two floors, it was packed, and the tables felt very close together. The interior is undeniably beautiful, though it could use better maintenance and cleanliness. As expected, the menu items are on the pricey side. I’m not complaining since we’re tourists ourselves, but it’s probably not the best choice if you’re after a relaxed atmosphere.

Stunning Setting with Room for Service Improvement New York Café is one of the most beautiful cafés in the world, with a breathtaking interior that feels like stepping into a palace. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Budapest, and it’s absolutely worth visiting for the atmosphere alone. The food is good, though not exceptional, and the service could be better. The staff seem quite used to the constant flow of tourists, so the experience can feel a bit rushed or impersonal at times. Still, it’s a must-see spot for its incredible architecture and history. If you go, take your time to enjoy the surroundings, it’s an unforgettable place to have coffee or dessert, even if the service isn’t as polished as the setting.

Initially we were allocated in this annex room down the bottom. It was very disappointing as you can’t even hear the music. My review would have been 1 star. Luckily I decided to speak to the manager and we were kindly moved to the upper room where the experience met the expectation and I had the most amazing blueberry cheesecake coup hearing the music and seeing the musicians. The experience downstairs was terrible. Forgotten with the underdogs. It’s impossible to have a great experience there as you will be saddened by the prices in a regular room. In my opinion that room should not be used unless they put a musician playing down there. Even the food felt average whilst we sat there. Life was different on the upper floor and I strongly reccomend you to complain about your seat in case you are taken to the dark room far from the magic. We had an amazing experience and it was worth every cent once sat on the upper level. I would definetely return.

It is a pleasant location to explore and capture memorable photographs. The scenery offers ample opportunities for creative compositions and stunning visuals. Although the surroundings are beautiful, the dining experience could be improved. Hopefully, future visits will bring enhancements to the culinary offerings. Overall, it remains a lovely place to visit.

It is the largest indoor market in Budapest, located at one end of the famous Váci utca. It is located in a building whose facade is built in a neo-Gothic style, very pleasing to the eye and in harmony with the architecture of the neighboring buildings. Inside, on the ground floor you will find many shops with local cold cuts, dairy, wines and other products. In the basement is the fish market. You can reach the upper level by several stairs but also by an escalator, located in close proximity of the main entrance. Access to the shops on the first floor is along corridors that look like balconies. Here are numerous gift/souvenir shops but also the Fakánal Etterem restaurant, which, if you want to taste the flavors of traditional Hungarian food, you must definitely make a stop. We did and we did not regret it. At lunchtime, when we arrived, we had to be a little patient to get to the desired menu, but it was worth it. I treated myself with a goulash soup and a portion of stuffed cabbage rolls. Everything was very tasty. I consider this place to be recommended to visit.

It’s a nice market full of both dry goods and groceries. A lot of fresh meat products and vegetables could be found here and with good quality. On the second floor, there’s a selection of souvenirs, as well as some food stalls selling local food.

You can find plenty of authentic Hungarian products here — from fresh local vegetables and spices to handmade crafts and souvenirs. There are also food stalls offering traditional dishes, so you can enjoy a snack or meal right inside the market while soaking in the atmosphere. The vendors are friendly and take pride in their products, making the experience feel genuine rather than touristy. There’s a good mix of local shoppers and visitors, which adds to its charm. The market also has clean, paid toilet facilities, which is convenient if you plan to spend more time browsing. Whether you’re looking for paprika, embroidered linens, or just a good place to people-watch, the Central Market Hall offers it all. It’s an enjoyable and colourful stop that captures the real spirit of Budapest in a single building.

Lots of fresh food of all varieties, including meat, vegetables and baked goods. Paprika of every flavor and size. Goodies to eat and souvenirs for the trip home. It can be very crowded so have some patience. Many of the vendors are closed on Sunday, especially the fresh food vendors.

We went around 2-3pm, when a lot of stalls had already closed. Ground floor has vegetables, meats, sausages and spices. Upper floor is filled with Souvenir-Style shopping, and a few options for food. Choice was ok, avoid if you'd prefer a more local experience.

One of my favourite spots in town! If you visit Budapest you shouldn't miss this one! It has many sweet and savory traditional products to try! On the upper level they also have a big variety of souvenirs and restaurants.

Such a unique place - as a tourist you HAVE to go. Buzzing place at night but particularly I recommend going during the day. You get to see how great this place is and everything it has. Day drinking in a ruin bar will easily become the highlight.

I don’t go to bars, so I haven’t experienced Szimpla Kert at night, but visiting during the Sunday market was really nice! From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., local producers offer a wide range of fresh and artisanal products, including breads, cheeses, honey, jams, yogurts, pasta, and traditional Hungarian sweets. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and entry is free—perfect for anyone wanting to explore the local culture in an authentic way.

A wild, unforgettable experience, Budapest’s ruin bar culture at its best. Szimpla Kert is unlike any bar I’ve ever visited. Located in the heart of the Jewish Quarter, it’s the original ruin bar, a concept born from transforming abandoned buildings into eclectic, artsy nightlife spaces. The place is a visual overload: mismatched furniture, bathtubs as seats, graffiti-covered walls, and quirky installations everywhere you look. I went once at night. Night time, , is when Szimpla comes alive: live music, DJs, and a buzzing crowd of locals and tourists. It’s loud, chaotic, and absolutely fun. Drinks are reasonably priced for a tourist hotspot, and they have a good selection of local craft beers (try the Budapest Lager) and cocktails. The staff were friendly, and the vibe was welcoming despite the crowds. Tips: Go early if you want to explore the space and take photos. At night, expect crowds—especially on weekends. Would I go back? Definitely. Szimpla Kert is more than a bar, it’s a cultural experience and a must-see if you’re in Budapest.

Such a cool and new experience for me! I went both day and night, and they both had two very different vibes. I would recommend getting a coffee in the morning to explore the flea market as well and at night visiting around 7-8pm to avoid the queue (weekend) and grabbing a cherry ale. The cherry ale was lovely and the interior blew my mind. Strongly recommend to visit!

On Sunday morning, the same space amazingly transforms into a calm, charming Farmer's Market, complete with high-quality live cover music. The atmosphere in both modes is completely different and absolutely mesmerizing. In short: It’s a genius idea for dual space utilization! A must-visit!

Really enjoyed eating here. We had a variety of food Pasta, Thai noodles and all were really good. Very nice Hungarian Merlot. A pleasant evening at a good restaurant. If I lived here, it would be a regular for me.

Simple Hungarian food like beef goulash is great here with decent prices. This one is an honest place - not a tourist trap. I also tried their Moroccan lamb tapas and they're very good. The atmosphere is cozy with also seating available outside.

We ate a Caesar Salad and a veal schnitzel. It was delicious and the portions were generous. They put a lot of effort into making the dishes and the ingredients were fresh. One of the best meals in Budapest. Please take the mashed potatoes! I highly recommend.

The waiter greeted us warmly and reassured us they’d find us a table, which they did without any hassle. The atmosphere was absolutely spectacular — beautiful, elegant, and with a sexy charm. A DJ was playing in the background, adding to the vibe without being intrusive. The restaurant features both indoor and outdoor seating, each space beautifully designed with dim romantic lighting, warm wood accents, and plants woven into the decor. We chose to sit outside and it was perfect. We turned to Google Maps for food suggestions and ended up ordering the eggplant schnitzel as a starter and the veal escalope for our main. The portions were generous, the presentation was excellent, and the quality of the food truly stood out. Everything was full of flavor and thoughtfully prepared. To top it off, they welcomed us with complimentary bread, olive oil, and thyme — and ended the meal with delicious Hungarian bubbles on the house. It’s those extra touches that really make a difference. A special shoutout to Martin, our waiter, who was incredibly helpful and added so much warmth to our experience. We highly recommend this place — it’s absolutely worth the visit!

Truly an incredible meal. I've eaten at a lot of good places and this is top 5 if not the best. This place should have a Michelin star. Every dish was phenomenal, words really can't describe how perfect everything was. This is fine dining at the highest level. It's tied together with incredible service. After a disappointing visit some time ago, I decided to give Déryné another chance and I’m so happy I did! I completely fell in love with this place again. The food is delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every time I’ve been back, the experience has been excellent. The service is also 10/10: each time we were served by different waiters, and every one of them was kind and attentive. They paid attention to every little detail and made us feel truly welcomed. The atmosphere and decoration make it such a warm, cozy, and elegant place to be. It’s one of my favorite spots in Budapest, and I always look forward to going back. I recently celebrated my birthday here, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Overall, Déryné has completely won me back. Amazing food, amazing service, amazing vibe. One of the best places in town!

Was decent but the eggs Benedict was quite salty. Bit over salty with the crispy bacon on top though it gave it a nice crunch . My sister had the French toast which looked amazing. The white woman in front of us in the queue was offered a free coffee if she left a review, and she didn’t seem like the type of that would, and she didn’t commit to doing so but was still given free coffee. We (two Indian girls) were right behind her, and way more likely to do this, but we’re not offered anything.

The perfect comfort meal! A classic English breakfast with crispy bacon, tasty sausages, perfectly cooked eggs, and toasted bread. We tried the Hangover Burrito and the egg breakfast — both were tasty, though the food took a bit of time to arrive. The interior is pretty, but it had a strong artificial air freshener scent and felt quite warm. Thankfully, the host kindly let us move to the patio, which was amazing on a sunny day. I’ll definitely be back!

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. I was walking to a different cafe and walked by this place and decided to give it a try. Best decision ever. There was about 12 things on their menu I was dying to try. I settled for a cappuccino and the breakfast burger and was not disappointed. 5 stars no notes.

I visited London Coffee Society and had an iced coffee – the perfect refreshment on a hot day. It was made with Brazilian coffee, and the flavor was absolutely outstanding. The staff (or perhaps even the owners) who served us were incredibly kind and welcoming. A big thank you to them for such a wonderful experience. I’ll be happy to come back and can only recommend this place!

We ordered the poached eggs with sourdough and avocado and loved it! The portion was good and it was beautifully presented. The only two things that bothered us were the techno music in the morning and having a table that is literally right by the entry door. This created an atmosphere that wasn’t ideal for starting the day, but other than that, the food and service were great!

Just a stone’s throw from my place, I stumbled across this little gem and decided to give it a try. I ordered a latte and took it outside to sip while people-watching. Now, I’ll admit—I’m more of a tea drinker than a coffee enthusiast. But this cup genuinely surprised me. Velvety smooth, with a nutty depth and unmistakable freshness, it was hands-down one of the best coffees I’ve ever had. You could taste that it was freshly roasted on the premises. It’s a small, independent business, but with quality like this, I truly hope they flourish. In fact, I was so impressed that I didn’t stop at one—I ordered a second. And that says it all.

We came because it had a high rating. There was a line at the door and the outdoor tables were full. We ordered one cinnamon roll, one chocolate roll, and two cappuccinos. We sat upstairs. The rolls didn’t taste that good. The place is cute, but what we had wasn’t worth the price. I think it’s an overrated spot.

Guys… They DO NOT have vegan stuff! Yesterday I bought some pastries, asking specifically for vegan to an employee. I arrived home and ate it and it was absolutely NOT vegan. But just to check before writing something, I went back again today and asked if they have vegan stuff. Today they said they don’t.!!! I wonder why I got mislead like that yesterday. I am lactose intolerant!!! If you are just looking for genuine buttery bakery, this is the place to go! For that they deserve 5 stars. I just wish they would have had honesty on the first day. The food was delicious, we've been there two times out of three days spent in Budapest. On the first day we wanted to try everything from the menu, and ordered more food (the pictures are from the second day). We had an authentic French experience with croissants 🥐, baguette 🥖, butter 🧈, and jam. Also, we tried the foie gras with fig jam - it was so tasty, you have to try it once. I highly recommend this cozy, little French corner in the middle of the city. 🤤

The egg fougasse was the best thing I had in Budapest. The egg was cooked to protection! However, you need to arrive early to get one! We came in and there was 2 egg fougasses left, by the time we left they were gone (I know because I tried to order another one after I realized how amazing it was and they were out). The croissant sandwich was our second favorite! This is a MUST for your Budapest travel plans!

Café Jedermann is hands down my favorite spot in Budapest. we went a few times, sometimes just for a beer, other times for a bite, and every visit was a great experience. the atmosphere is effortlessly cool and cozy, with music that always matched our taste. The soups are seriously good and incredibly cheap...a perfect match for the low beer prices. and if you’re into Jazz, this place is a must. we were lucky enough to catch a concert by the amazing Bálint Gyémánt Trio, and it was unforgettable. *If you want to see one of their two weekend shows, definitely book at least a week in advance - tickets go fast* Even when the place was full, the staff was super nice and really attentive. there were usually only two waitresses and one bartender, but they always managed to keep things running smoothly, never making us wait too long. Really, really good staff. Even if you can’t get a spot for a concert, it’s worth coming here on any other night just to soak in the vibe. I know I’ll be back, and if you’re in Budapest, I can’t recommend it enough...

This street and neighbourhood somehow became the jazz part of the city. Jedermann is a lovely jazz bistro, really good not overpriced food, superb service and most importantly, good concerts :) not a lot of desks around the stage, so book in advance.

Today I had breakfast. The place is beautiful and I was very impressed, as was the service, but the most important thing was the food. I ordered a salmon and avocado toast, along with a green salad, and the sandwich was spread with cream cheese (or so I thought). At first glance, it looked nice, but after the first bites of the salad, I tasted honey or syrup on it – that really put me off. I was hoping for olive oil or vinaigrette. Unfortunately, the toast was also unseasoned; I couldn't taste any salt or pepper. I asked for extra lemon because the entire breakfast was very flat, with no distinctive flavors (aside from the salmon).

I can only say good thinks about Sarki Fűszeres. When we arrived on Sunday morning we got seated at the last available table. The portions were abundant and of good quality. Our server was friendly and although it was busy she was checking upon is if everything was ok. She helped us to find another table under the canopy when it started to rain. The meals were delicious and we left very satisfied.

This place was an unexpected surprise for me. I was wandering around Budapest on a cloudy Saturday afternoon looking for somewhere to chill out and relax. And then— lucky for me, I found the Café Zsivágó. The place was packed! I found a corner and a comfy chair— and enjoyed a lovely Aperol spritz. I was able to read my book, sip my cocktail and soak up the lovely atmosphere. If I could, I would give this place 10 stars. Bravo!!

Very old fashioned but cozy café and bar. Good for a calm evening with unique seats. There are also small spots upstairs. The waiter is super sweet and adds to the charme. They also have some small snacks. Don't miss out on this one.

Szivago Café is honestly the prettiest café I’ve been to in Budapest. It’s like stepping into a time machine — super retro, filled with old furniture, quirky details everywhere, and so cozy you’ll never want to leave. The staff are amazing, warm, and welcoming, which just makes the whole experience even better. It’s quiet, comfy, and feels like a little hidden gem in the city. And oh — do yourself a favor and try the coffee vodka, Russian style. It’s insanely good, will get you a little tipsy, and is absolutely worth it (just… careful 😉). A true time journey and a must-visit spot if you love unique cafés with character!

The staff was by far the worst that I've ever encountered in Budapest and I've been to many before. (I'm a local Hungarian.) They didn't care about the people, they make you wait at the counter for minutes, even though they see you... (they were busy selecting music which was actually very loud and annoying and the lyrics were agressive). They also said the wrong price to me when I paid and threw the receipt into the bin immediately. So I only realized at home on my phone that I paid 200 forints more.. which is not much, but that doesn't really matter, because if they do it on a regular basis that's unacceptable... we were very disappointed, I don't recommend this place.

Arán Bakery offers a wide variety of pastries, breads, cafe and sandwiches with fast service and a stylish, modern vibe. It can get very busy, especially in the mornings. While the selection is impressive, the sandwich with chicken I had came with very hard bread—tough to chew and not the most enjoyable. Great for a quick stop, but some items may be more style than comfort. Decent prices in good location, overall recommend it!

A lovely corner bakery with all kinds of baked goods and bread and you could get. The coffee are also super delicious. Seatings are limited but if you want to grab and go, definitely a perfect spot for that. We got the iced dirty chai, flat white, a cruffin, a cinnamon bun, and orange juice. Everything was great. We ended up revisiting a couple days later.

We went to Arán for breakfast and tried their famous cinnamon roll, another pastry, and a latte — all of which were really good. There’s a small seating area, and although there was a queue, it moved quite fast. A lovely spot for a quick and tasty breakfast!

Very tasty hot choc and pain au choc. I would return to try other parts of the bakery (although I'm restricted with nut allergy). Limited seating indoors so we took ours out to enjoy (there are seating spots round the side).

This is absolutely the best bakery in Budapest! The pastry is of such good quality. You must try the cruffin.

Another day, another tough decision on where to go for breakfast…and I’m so glad I chose this small bakery! Definitely worth the 30 minute walk, and I’d come back again. The ham and cheese croissant was gorgeous. The pastry was crispy and flaky, I loved the sesame and fennel seeds on top which added to savouriness. Also the apple and cardamom pastry, which was delicious and not too sweet. The price was really cheap too!

Popped in late on a Friday night and it was full, came back again on Saturday night and it was empty, the ambience was not as nice and the music was a bit off however we had an amazing meal! The options were very exciting from a vegan point of view - 'faux foie gois' caught our eye and did not disappoint! The food was prepared with a lot of love, presentation was on point and it all tasted delicious.

A WSIWYG nice and quite place to lunch. On your plate it doesn't look like much, and choices are rather limited. But quality is good and its definitely something different. If you're looking for a trendy vegan place, give it a chance! They have beetroot juice and strong espresso's too. Personally I would have liked to see a bit more 'surprise' in the dishes. But it tasted great, so either way 4 stars. Keep it up :)

Superb vegan food, great menu in the evenings. I loved the spices, everything was exceptionally high quality. Nice place superb atmosphere! Must visit for every vegan, vegetarian or anybody, who likes well prepared vegetables.

This is a great little vegan place with a changing daily menu. The Hungarian layered cauliflower with cucumber salad was delicious and I loved the coziness of the place. It’s very cute with its little chairs all pained in different pastel colours. They offer coffee with either rice or soy milk. The flavour of the soy latte I had was great but unfortunately it was only lukewarm. Prices are reasonable and I would recommend having lunch there.

The place is really nice and cozy. There is a great variety to choose from starters to desserts. I had gnocchi with dried porcini and a Chestnut dreamy cake with a red wine and figs homemade marmalade, both were delicious and high quality. Totally recommended

Yummy vegan food, friendly service. You pick a main and a side to put together for lunch and you move along to different stations kinda like IKEA. Food was delicious, the fried kale critter balls was so flavourful and potatoes were done perfect. the decor is cute too. tray returning system is also very straight forward, I would absolutely return the next time I'm on Budapest.

Love this place, its such a relief when you don't need to think what you eat which doesn't contain gluten because everything is glutenfree here and vegan and delicious. This apple pie is heaven. Nice and kind service, highly recommended

Pros: - friendly wait staff - good service - quick and tasty - good coffee - I had the Hungarian breakfast and it was a lot off food and very satisfying. My partner had the Eggs Benedict and loved it! Cons: - a bit crowded Would definitely recommend for a quick tasty breakfast/brunch in Budapest!

We went there for breakfast twice. It's a good place because their dishes are quite good. We were served by a very friendly waiter, and although our English wasn't very good at times, we understood each other well. Las crepes muy ricas!

The food quality is amazing, specially the packaging and service. But sadly the food, although very creative, doesn’t have the best flavour. In any case, they really know how to season the fried chicken, it had a very interesting curry flavour.

The best! We have heard a lot of positives about this place - everything is true: very tasty chicken cones and homemade lemonades! Next time in Budapest - only here, highly recommended! There are not much space to sit there, just several tables - but it is enough, the most important is the taste and service - both are very good.
