Gluten-free restaurant
Bohémtanya Gluténmentes Vendéglő is a highly recommended gluten-free restaurant in Budapest, specializing in Hungarian cuisine. Located near popular tourist sites like Fisherman's Bastion and Buda Castle, it offers a truly local experience with traditional Hungarian ambiance and friendly staff. Visitors praise the delicious food and excellent service, making multiple visits during their stay. The restaurant's dedication to accommodating guests' needs, including dietary restrictions, ensures a memorable dining experience for all patrons.
Delicious and authentic Hungarian food. Traditional interior, friendly and welcoming staff. The portions are big. It’s a must try when you are in Budapest. Their schnitzel was the best I have ever tried
Fjodor — Google review
The whole restaurant is 100% gluten free!!! I don't have enough words to describe how good the food was, also for the non-celiacs! Thank you Tomas for the best dinner in Budapest so far! If you're in Budapest visiting Bohemtanya is an absolute must! We will absolutely be back.
Neta W — Google review
What a dream to have a 100% gluten free restaurant! Super friendly staff, and they are quite multilingual, useful for tourists. I had the beef goulash with dumplings and the somloi galuska - both delicious, taste like home cooking but elevated!
Yogita M — Google review
Beyond being a great gluten free restaurant, the staff are really lovely, attentive and kind. FOOD: They have a variety of vegetarian and meat dishes, most are traditional Hungarian. Served usually high quality ingredients and priced reasonably. INTERIOR: There were varied areas for private dining with a group, small booths for couples or large tables for bigger groups. ACCESSIBILITY: The whole place seems wheelchair, walker and pram friendly. OVERALL: Great to eat local Hungarian food, safely gluten free. Highly recommend!
Louise — Google review
Gluten free but lots of soy, which I am allergic to. The waiter was very sweet and attentive about checking my food though. Fast service, solid food, my husband was quite pleased as he is a big beef and potatoes kinda guy.
AJ — Google review
All gluten free and many fried dishes that I normally never get to taste. We had the bohemian plate for two. Chicken, snitzel and two mushrooms, rice, fries and tartar sauce. Very nice and crispy. Lacking completely in vegetables if you don’t count some raw red onion. The cakes were nothing special. The serving staff did a really good job and were in such a good mood.
Sheila S — Google review
I would not recommend this place - yes it is gluten free but unfortunately the overall food quality is really low. No reason not to serve fresh csalamádé (it was soft and old, supposed to be crunchier when fresh) as that’s gluten-free anyway. My hortobágyi húsos palacsinta had watery tomato sauce on it which is not even remotely what it is meant to be on it. The pancake was burnt and we had a bone in the filling. Also it was obvious it was frozen before. We’ve left nearly all of it and wasn’t even asked what was wrong. Then came the main dish, which was the Borzoska - see picture, it’s nothing what it should be. It tasted like it was fried in a two weeks old oil. The Gulyas soup was okay but that’s about is. Also there was no aircon inside which is not ideal when it’s 35+ degrees outside. Overall it’s a shame that gluten free people think this is what Hungarian food is, I would recommend to go somewhere else. Also hoping we just were there on a day where the chef was off or something and this isn’t the standard. Disclaimer: I’ve told them at the end about the starter with the bone and they did take it off of the bill, but in reality also the main should have been taken off.
Zsofia M — Google review
The food is very tasty. It does not take a long time for the food to be prepared and served, although due to the high volume of clients, the service is definitely slow. In a way to compensate us, they have made a discount, which was very generous from their side.

Coffee shop
Cirkusz Café, located in Budapest, is a beloved brunch spot known for its exceptional coffee and comforting food. The café takes pride in serving their own specialty Bagira brand of coffee made by top-notch baristas, including the Hungarian Barista Champion of 2018, Adam. Their menu offers classic breakfast options like croissants and French toast as well as more unique dishes such as the hearty recovery plate and cold Turkish eggs.
A visit to Cirkusz is definitely a great place for brunch and breakfast in Budapest, and it seems to be very popular for a good reason. The place has a great, lively atmosphere, perfect for a weekend morning, and it quickly becomes clear that this is a spot that takes its food and service seriously. However, you should be prepared for the prices. They are definitely "for tourists," and you'll notice it right away on the menu. But in this case, the quality truly justifies the cost. We had the guacamole toast, and it was perfectly made with fresh, creamy avocado on excellent bread. The Lebanese eggs were a fantastic find—a rich and flavorful dish that was a delicious change from the usual breakfast fare. The salmon bagel was also excellent, with a generous portion of fresh, smoky fish. And the coffee was more than delicious; it was a perfect, expertly brewed cup that was a real treat to start the morning. The service was also great, with the staff being friendly and attentive. In the end, while it's not a cheap option, you absolutely get what you pay for. The great food and service make it a worthwhile place to go for a truly good brunch that will leave you feeling satisfied. It’s a good example of a place that lives up to its hype and is worth the premium price for the quality you receive.
Shanit R — Google review
Good place for breakfast. All you may want. Presentation is esquisite. Plates are presented spectacular and clean. The belgian waffles are really good buck the chocolate is too liquid for my liking. Orange juice and coffee was perfect.
Jose F — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely love this place! I’ve been coming here for many years, and it never disappoints. The Royal Eggs Benedict is always perfect — it’s my go-to breakfast and it never lets me down. The staff are incredibly kind, friendly, and always greet you with a smile. Other restaurants could really take an example from their amazing service. Highly recommend starting your day here with a great breakfast and great vibes!
Angeletakis M — Google review
Cirkusz Café is one of Budapest’s more popular brunch spots, often recommended in travel guides and social media posts, and you can definitely see why. The interior has a stylish, somewhat upscale vibe, with a modern-industrial look and a lively atmosphere. It feels like the kind of place that wants to impress, and in many ways, it does. The presentation of the food is beautiful, and the service is friendly and professional. However, once you get past the first impression, the experience doesn’t quite live up to the hype. The menu is creative and well-curated, with plenty of brunch classics, but the portions are noticeably small for the price. It’s definitely on the expensive side, especially compared to other great cafés in Budapest that offer similar or even better quality at a lower cost. You might find yourself leaving still a bit hungry, not exactly ideal for a hearty morning meal. That said, the food itself is good. The eggs are cooked perfectly, the coffee is strong and well-made, and everything looks like it came straight from a food magazine. Still, the high prices and limited portions make it hard to justify as a regular spot, unless you’re specifically after the experience rather than the meal. In short, Cirkusz Café is a nice place to visit once, especially if you want a stylish brunch setting and don’t mind paying extra for presentation and ambiance. But if you’re after good value, generous servings, and a more relaxed feel, there are plenty of better options around the city. It’s lovely, just not quite worth the hype or the price tag.
AboodAbAj — Google review
Actually we had a good breakfast. The recovery breakfast was good enough to fill you up. The roast beef benedict was different but good, I never had this kind of benedict that has a roast beef 10/10. Wait time to be seated is around at least 10 minutes. It was a tasty breakfast overall.
Hill S — Google review
Yes, just as all the reviews say, you really do wait a long time — but it’s absolutely worth it. The menu is truly unique, and the egg dishes at breakfast are especially legendary and delicious. Despite being a small, local place, it has managed to create a very distinctive atmosphere. It’s definitely one of the must-visit spots when in Budapest.
Volkan O — Google review
Always a perfect start to the day! Cirkusz Café has been my favorite breakfast spot in Budapest for years. The food is always delicious, and I have huge respect for the chefs who work tirelessly from early morning till afternoon - yet the quality never drops. The bartenders and waiters are true hard workers too - they never seem to have a single free moment, yet they always remain friendly and professional. Every time I come back to Budapest, I make sure to visit, and it makes me genuinely happy to see a line forming outside - it means the team is doing everything right. Always friendly, always tasty, always warm and welcoming. And, of course, it’s always a pleasure to watch the handsome guys cooking your food!☺️
Anastasiya P — Google review
The cappuccino was absolutely delicious, and the coffee itself had great flavor. The waffle was really impressive – we ordered the American waffle and it was fantastic. We also tried another dish with bread, spinach, and egg – very tasty, healthy, and satisfying. The staff were outstanding – very friendly, well-organized, and professional. The place was clean, with excellent hygiene and a well-maintained environment. It’s also a lovely spot to enjoy breakfast and then go for a walk around the beautiful surroundings. Everything was perfect. Highly recommended! 🙌

Kaptafa Brunch is a popular spot located on Akacfa utca, offering a cozy atmosphere for morning gatherings and evening events. The small but efficient kitchen prepares unique delicacies such as the Mr. and Mrs. Molnar sandwiches, breaded pickles, grilled sandwiches, and their own take on French toast. The international crowd adds to the vibrant ambiance in the dining room and street terrace. Visitors praise the affordable prices, friendly staff, and generous portions of vegetarian options.
I got the feeling that it's a little bit easier to get a seat there, comparing to other popular breakfast/brunch places around. When we came, there were around 4 tables empty. And it is surprising, because the place is undoubtely worth visiting! You get free cucumber water (whole bottle), they offer a variety of both breakfast and brunch options and they are unusual. Staff was very kind and helpful.
Marta M — Google review
We came here for brunch and had the Turkish eggs, a savory toast, an espresso tonic, and a chai latte. The Turkish eggs were excellent – plenty of high-quality yogurt served with fresh sourdough bread. Delicious! The chai latte was beautifully balanced – not overly sweet, full of flavor, and incredibly comforting. We also appreciated that pets are welcome – we were there with our dog and had no issues at all. There is a 12% service fee, but the staff kindly asked if they could include it and whether everything was okay, which we found very respectful. We were very happy with the service, so we would have tipped around the same amount anyway. Overall, a great experience – highly recommended!
Lujza G — Google review
A great independent eatery with a lovely chilled atmosphere and fantastic service. Breakfast sandwiches and French toast are the main options. All of the sandwiches can also be made as a gluten free option and our coeliac son loved his. The coffee was also excellent. Would definitely recommend.
Chris C — Google review
First of all, I would like to highlight the friendliness and patience of the staff. We visited the cafe during a rush hour. Even though we didn't have a reservation, we were welcomed and served nicely. The coffees are excellent so are the food. The restaurant is small but has a nice atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit again. Next time, we'll try the fried pickles. :)

Lovely brunch experience whilst on our city break in Budapest!!! We both had cappuccinos and the “My Sweet Lord” French toast. Excellent service, friendly staff and delicious food!🍰☕️👏 Thank you!!!!!
Jessie P — Google review
Great menu with super delicious home made breakfast. My favorite is the “Defibrillator” if you want a cheese load in your mouth. Super friendly staff. 100% recommendation!!!
Wildeman C — Google review
Our favourite brunch spot in Budapest, over the years it has become a tradition to visit the place and have a morning beer when visiting the city. This time we got the Mr Molnár and Where the ... am I?, both delicious and definitely filling. If you are in Budapest, I recommend you don't miss this place.
Simona Š — Google review
This is my absolute favorite spot for brunch in Budapest. There is a limited menu that sometimes changes seasonally, but nothing disappoints. My favorite is the grilled cheese selection and the Mr. Molnar with fried pickles. The coffee is phenomenal as well! It is very small inside, but there hasn’t been any issues with getting a seat. I’ll always come back here!

Cafe
VAJ, which means "butter" in Hungarian, is a spacious bakery located just outside the city center by Rakoczi ter. The airy and industrial space offers a variety of sandwiches, pastries, and light fare along with cocktails. The glass display showcases an array of freshly baked breakfast pastries, breads, and bagels. Visitors praise the turos taska as one of Budapest's best.
This is a very nice place! They serve really good coffee and excellent pastries! Both savory and sweet. I recommend the creme brûlée croissant, it has such a great texture and amazing flavors. The cafe has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. The only negative thing is that we had questions about allergies that they didn’t take seriously or could answer at first. After that they got the manager, then we felt better because he could give answers about what pastries contained nuts! Overall I had a good experience
Maja H — Google review
Our favorite breakfast place. We went 2 consecutive days as the variety of products will bet you surprised everytime :) We've tried sandwiches and also sweet products and all were amazing. I especially recommend the pretzel sandwich and the pistacchio croissant.
Antonio S — Google review
Easily the BEST coffee and pastries in Budapest. We tried Espresso Tonic, their Kombucha and Matcha tonic. Also had their pistachio croissant and crème brûlée croissant- both absolutely to die for. Also the veggies and goat cheese pasty looked great. For best coffee go to VAJ across the city.
Rituja R — Google review
Expensive but there’s a reason why it costs so much. They sell the best pistachio croissant I’ve had in my life. Perfect blend of creaminess, nuttiness and crunch from the pistachio creme. The coffee is solid as well. Would highly recommend to anyone who’s looking for the best breakfast experience in Budapest.
Joel M — Google review
We visited Vaj Bakery and absolutely enjoyed the experience. We tried their famous pistachio croissant, which was really good with just the right amount of sweetness. The vegetarian toast sandwich was warm, fresh, and delicious, and the coffee was equally nice. The outlet we visited had outdoor seating, and it was pleasant to sit outside. They also have multiple outlets across the city.
Dory G — Google review
During my whole trip, I was on the lookout for a proper pastry shop - mainly for croissants and, most importantly, macarons. I stumbled upon this place almost by chance and was more than satisfied! For me, macarons are the true test of a pâtisserie, and here they were truly worthy. Croissants were excellent as well. I also liked the semi-self-service concept - makes the experience simple and relaxed. Highly recommended! 🌿
Igor L — Google review
Amazing bakery with incredible pastries (worth the wait!) Vaj Bakery is truly one of the best bakeries I’ve visited — Scandinavian-inspired and absolutely delicious. There was a long line when we arrived, but it moved super quickly. The staff were friendly and efficient. It’s quite crowded outside, and there are lots of pigeons hanging around hoping for leftovers. But if you’re patient, tables free up pretty quickly. I tried the pistachio croissant — 10/10, with a rich, intense pistachio flavor. The vanilla poppy seed roll blew me away — the combination was amazing, full of flavor with delicious vanilla cream and perfect dough. One of my friends had the bostock croissant, and it was mind-blowing — another 10/10! And savoury one with pesto and dried tomatoes was guite delicious as well! Coffee was good quality too, a nice pairing with the pastries. A fantastic spot for pastry lovers. Crowded, but absolutely worth it for the quality of the food.
Andreja — Google review
Delicious pastries...I am on a quest for the perfect croissant, whether a pain au chocolat or plain butter croissant.. I have traveled throughout Kalifornia, in cities like San Francisco down the coast to Carmel , Santa Barbara etc onto Utah , Vaj is on top

Gluten-free restaurant
Restaurant
Kata PEST is a gluten and lactose-free restaurant located just a few minutes' walk from the Opera House in Hungary. The restaurant offers a wide variety of comfort foods, including fantastic ribs, delicious carbonara, tempura battered chicken, and traditional dessert like 'Somlo Galuska'. While the food is completely gluten-free, some drinks may not be.
Really loved the food in this restaurant. Simple but good! Everything is gluten and lactose free which makes it a great option for everyone with an allergy. Great service and very cozy interior. Highly recommend. Prices are good.
Fjodor — Google review
Rare find; fine dining restaurant serving up 100% gluten and lactose free meals. FOOD: A range of meat and vegetarian and vegan dishes, including chicken, beef, pork and fake meat options. Pictured is a vegan lasagna. They also have a range of soups, salads and chef specials of the day. NOTE: Oddly, they don't have bread on the menu. I asked for some and it was like a multigrain baguette which was really good. It was around 500HUF, I would recommend ordering this. PRICING: We spent around $60 USD between us and I suspect it could cost around $45 USD per person if you're not sharing. STAFF: Very attentive and friendly. They speak fluent English and are able to assist with any enquiries. LOCATION: In the city centre with some free street parking available (although very limited). ACCESSIBILITY: Within the restaurant would be fine, they have in and outdoor seating ideal for kids, prams etc, there are however a couple of steps to the bathroom. The restaurant would easily fit individuals to groups of 14 or so. It's a suprisingly large space. OVERALL: Highly recommend and would come back (small note: the French crepe restaurant next door also does gf savoury buckwheat crepes).
Louise — Google review
Very nice surprise in the center of Budapest, close to the Opera. We went there without a reservation on Tuesday evening and it turned out the place will be fully booked. Despite this, the waitress was very helpful and suggested we could stay for 1 hour if we want to. The drinks and the food arrived very quickly and were very good. There were only two ladies handling the whole restaurant which was amazing and they could still do it with a smile on their face. The restaurant has multiple options for people with gluten and dairy intolerance.
Rebeka H — Google review
The best service and food we’ve had since arriving in Budapest. The menu offered so much to choose from including meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan dishes. The added bonus was they were all gluten free and lactose free so there was no chance whatsoever of cross contamination. Every dish we ordered was full of flavour; absolutely delicious! Our server was excellent at her job and offered the best service we’ve had since our arrival. She helped us choose a Hungarian wine as we had no reference point. It turned out to pair beautifully with our food. Highly recommended from a complete foodie and a stickler for excellent service!
Carol — Google review
We visited the place as my son is celiac. It’s not a bad place but not great either. The Caesar salad was one of the worst I’ve had and the gin+soda I ordered was very watered down. The burger my son had was ok. Service was ok but not worth the service charge. Maybe we had too high expectations.. Overall, I would say it’s too expensive for what it is.
Maya N — Google review
I had dinner here with two boys. We ordered three mains and a salad. We waited for our food for well over an hour, nothing arrived not even the salad. My kids were starving. I asked a couple of times when the food would be coming, the waiters apologized but nothing more. The restaurant was half empty. People who arrived after us got starters , mains, and had already left before we got the food. We received no compensation, not a drink or a dessert or a discount of any sort. I've never waited so long for food in my entire life. The food itself was okay. Not bad but definitely not worth the wait. I hate posting negative reviews especially for gluten free restaurants - my son has celiac and i want to give such restaurants as much love and business as possible. But in this case there are better options and better value for money elsewhere in Budapest. On the positive side I must say the sangria was excellent.
Maya P — Google review
Even if you are not gluten and laktoz tolerant the food was delicious and your friends who are, they are happy to eat a good burger so yes ! Definitely a good place!
Petra B — Google review
Fantastic food, all lactose-free, healthy, the flavor melts into your senses, and you have an incredible experience just by eating. Everything is organic and prepared to excellent taste. It has cute decor and a great location.

Elegant , clean & bright cafe . We booked a table online as it stated becoming full & busy with people all having breakfast there We were group of 7 , each wanted to try something different , eggs / yogurt with fruit and granola , french toast with fruit . I Ordered avocado toast which was delicious & lovely presented . We all enjoyed our breakfast and the service was great Staff were aware of the food allergies, as one of us ordered gluten free bread with their breakfast The only thing was the coffee was cold because it’s from a machine and the milk was cold so next time mention to them if u like ur coffee hot like me !!

There’s something deeply satisfying about starting the day at À la Maison. The room has a calm rhythm — soft light, quiet conversations, and a team that moves like they’ve done this for years. Nothing forced, nothing overstated. The food is where this place really shows its confidence. Everything is homemade, and you can taste it — the yoghurt with granola that’s gently toasted and not too sweet, eggs that arrive at just the right temperature, and sauces that actually have depth rather than decoration. The menu is broad without feeling random: Benedicts in several variations, light pancakes, French toast, seasonal fruit, and the kind of fresh juices that don’t taste like they’ve travelled through a bottle. You can eat here five mornings in a row and never repeat yourself — and still want to come back. It’s a rare mix of consistency and quiet ambition — simple food, done perfectly.
Laus R — Google review
The food was good and very esthetic like the rest of the restaurant. The service was great the only thing is that the food took some time and the restaurant wasn’t that full. We liked the options there’s a nice versatile in the food. We will definitely be back to try the American pancakes.
Or B — Google review
Good and classy. Our brunch was very good here. I had the best avocado toast I ever had. The pomegranate seeds were a perfect sweetness to the mild spice/heat of the salsa guac. The egg on top was just the right amount of gooey inside. Bacon on the side. She had the Japanese pancake. It had a sweet matcha sauce inside. Definitely recommend it, however ask for extra strawberry sauce as the pancake can be a little dry. Very unique; we loved it. This place is a bit pricey but perfect for a special breakfast or brunch. Normal drink options for a brunch place. Coke products in a glass bottle. Average portions.

It was my second time here, and I will come again. Food is delicious, the waiters were polite and kind, the atmosphere is beautiful. For the second time, some issues must have come up as food was really late, however, they apologised and compensated us, so all good. Give it a try!
Klára S — Google review
Lovely place. My second time to eat there. Great service, nice waiters, wonderful good
Anna — Google review
First time we got burnt coffee. The food was not good, the tomatoes were soggy, and the pomegranate were old and soggy, the egg was really the smallest I’ve ever seen and so out of proportions to the bread. The knives were dull so cutting the sourdough was a real mission. All in all this was the worst breakfast and we recommend going elsewhere

Fast food restaurant
Retro Lángos Budapest is a popular walk-up joint located near the Arany Janos Square Metro Stop in downtown Budapest. It offers authentic Hungarian lángos, a fried flatbread, served with various toppings. The menu includes traditional options like cheese and sour cream as well as more unique choices such as ham and cheese-filled lángos. This spot is known for its extensive selection of toppings, but many recommend trying the classic combination of sour cream, cheese, and roasted onion.
This was a great place to eat close to our hotel. We had walked past multiple times to see lines out the door for the traditional Hungarian food. The wait was very short and food came quickly. It was fresh and delicious. Extremely well priced and great portions. Staff were very friendly and decor was fun. I noticed there were multiple locations but if you pass by one and you’re hungry, stop in. It’s well worth it.
Peterconstant — Google review
This spot serves up the classic Hungarian lángos—a must-try street food. The portion is good and the taste is nice, delivering that perfect savory, comforting flavor you're looking for. However, be warned: it's too oily. The excess grease makes an otherwise great dish a bit heavy. A positive note for visitors: this location often offers a 10% discount if you're holding a tourist pass or voucher, so keep an eye out for that deal!
Shima — Google review
I honestly did not expect to find gluten-free & vegan langos in Budapest, but this restaurant made it possible even for people with food intolerancies. That is awesome. There is enough chairs to sit inside or outside, no need to book a reservation. This place is very popular, but staff are working really fast. Standard langos is prepared in 2-3 minutes, for gluten-free langos I had to wait around 10 minutes, but it was completely fine for me. The portion is quite generous, I was really full after eating it. Taste was awesome, just like regular langos although this was vegan & gluten-free. Next time I will just ask for more garlic, otherwise it was simply perfect. I know where to stop next time when I am in Budapest.
Tomáš J — Google review
We got the chilli con carne lángos. It was absolutely amazing. If you're looking to try authentic Hungarian street food in Budapest, Retro Lángos is a must-visit. Located centrally on Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street, this fast-casual eatery has earned its reputation as one of the city’s top spots for lángos, a deep-fried flatbread traditionally topped with sour cream and cheese. Retro Lángos offers over 30 varieties of lángos, including: Traditional Hungarian-style Vegetarian and vegan options Gluten-free and lactose-free versions Popular choices include the classic sour cream and cheese combo, as well as more adventurous toppings like bacon, goulash, and even dessert-style lángos. The vegan versions are clearly labeled and thoughtfully prepared, with plant-based cheese and sour cream. The vibe is casual and retro-themed, with both indoor and outdoor seating. While the place can get crowded, especially during peak hours, the service is fast and friendly, and the staff are knowledgeable about dietary restrictions. The restaurant is dog-friendly and offers takeaway, making it convenient for both sit-down meals and quick bites. Prices are very reasonable, especially considering the generous portion sizes. Most dishes range from €3 to €7, making it an affordable way to enjoy traditional Hungarian flavors. It’s a great spot for lunch, dinner, or even a late-night snack.
Kelvin W — Google review
The lángos were absolutely delicious. It gets quite crowded around lunchtime, but it's definitely worth the wait. We tried lángos at several places around Budapest, and I’d highly recommend it. The atmosphere was great, too.
Revanth K — Google review
LOVED the place, so budget friendly, fast, tasty AND clean! For 3 people we paid a total of 38€ (with drinks!) I recommend the Langos with ham and rucolla and the one with chicken tzatziki! Also, for drinks I recommend the Dreher Meggy (has a sweet cherry taste). Would definitely come here again and recommend this place to a friend visiting Budapest :)
Daniela D — Google review
We were told to try the Langos while in Budapest. We chose Retro for a combination of convenience and after searching other nearby restaurants for Langos. We were thinking it would be sit down type restaurant, but you order your Langos at one counter, and your drink at another, which was fine. The food came out quick, afterall, the Langos can be fried/prepared fairly quickly and then topped with your favorites. We enjoyed what we had. Surprised these haven't been introduced here in the states.
Paul A — Google review
Didn’t know Langos is this tasty. I didn’t expect much but the combo of the dough/sour cream/cheese & fried onion was absolutely amazing. The restaurant is very casual so you can really sit anywhere. Easy to order things over the counter and they serve it to you at the table. The restaurant itself is small inside but they have ample seating outside. We got lucky with the seating. This place is located a busy area and easy to get to some metros around the area. Highly recommend trying this place.

Lovely little cafe place with a simple menu, friendly staff and good atmosphere. The music was a bit loud but they didn’t mind turning it down a little for us and our order came very quickly. The eggs were possibly the most perfect I’ve ever enjoyed

We had a reservation and we got a table immediately. Unfortunately my coffee wasn't very hot. Food was quite good. I also had smoked salmon. It was probably the cheapest salmon you can buy in a shop, very light, pale and unfortunately there were a few bones in it, which has never happened to me before. My boyfried had bacon, which was completely cold, fried in advance. We wanted a croissant but it was gone at 9:30. So I had a banana bread. It wasn’t very good. My first homemade banana was better. We won’t come back. There are bettter restaurants for breakfast in Budapest.

🍳 I decided to try out a more local Budapest vibe and I loved having breakfast here! I opted for the scrambled eggs menu with a drink included and it was delicious! 🤗 It's a very cosy and attractive space and the staff are very friendly and professional. I have to mention the service of Attila, who not only did his duty but also offered to give me suggestions on what to visit and discover in Budapest. 😋 I was travelling alone, but I think this is the ideal environment for socialising with friends and having a good meal. It's definitely worth coming back! Thank you for making me feel so welcome 🫶

Very cheap but quality breakfast! Considering the average price of a breakfast meal today in Budapest, this is a very cheap option, but the quality doesn't lack! Had a perfect fluffy bread, a very tasty american pancake with delicious fruits, and fine oatmeal ( wasn't sweet enough for my taste). Overall, mainly because of the price but the best place in town!

Was there yesterday at lunch with my wife and my daughter. Place is dirty, smelly and quality of our food terrible. 5c outside and door completely open since inside the smell of burned bread and food is too much but still doesnt help. I walked down to the toilet and dirty was even more, the stairs are covered with some old ugly, dirty, broken black rubber...and then you find yourself in front of the kitchen next to the toilet :o Not my place at all

My new favourite artisan/vegan coffee/cake shop in Pest, hands down! They have this amazing thing called sweet gorilla, i would discribe it as an in-house brewed (coffee and cocoa) mocha. Its the best, creamiest, cleanest and smoothest tasting amazing chocolaty coffee creation, that i can just not get out of my head. I loved the name so we had to order it cold (for me) and hot (for my partner) both were exceptional. I also appreciated the glass straw mine was served with. We tried the vegan ice-creams, i liked the mango best. We also sampled kne cake on the premises (strawberry matcha - was very good) and took a box of 4 home to try - the round raspberry was my fav, everyone loved the fusia punk one, the chai latte caramel is very good if you like those flavours. And the tiramisù for me was a bit too nutty tasting but still good. Service is very meticulous, helpful and friendly so just ask fir recommendations when you are there. Absolute must for all to take a photo on the hanging-trunk swing inside! Note: at the moment they are open from Thursday to Sunday only.

Wow, delicious fresh food, beautifully presented. Romantic decor, mostly locals. I highly recommend to reserve a place in advance.
Tali S — Google review
If you are a fan of stadium food and miniscule portions, this is the place! You also need at least half an hour, to get such a meal. Don't forget to ask for a bread on the side, otherwise you won't be given any. Based on other opinions, something went terribly wrong, as we weren't even given plates. Were we scammed because we are tourists? High possibility, as it isn't something you'd expect even for half of 9500ft we've paid. That's not a language barrier, that's being predatory and unaccommodating. I've eaten in many countries and never had such an issue. It's a shame, because the place has a cosy and spacious garden, inside looks nice as well, even the baked goods looks promising. Just don't go there as a tourist it seems. Probably a great place for Hungarians though.

6 years ago I wrote: Had a lovely time there. Excellent service, nice atmosphere and while my order was not something of a speciality, a ham and eggs, it was really good. It even smiled. And the coffee is good too. I visit ever so often, and all the above still holds true. Love the place, love the people working there. I don't love the parking, I had my car scratched there by someone, there are no cameras.

Dorado Café in Budapest has become a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike. Run by a Hungarian-Spanish couple, Emese and Mario, who honed their barista skills in New Zealand, the café offers great coffee, delicious brunches, and a welcoming atmosphere. The sleek interior design creates a cool and relaxed ambiance. The café is popular among the hip crowd of Budapest for its outstanding coffee selection and natural wines.
It is a nice café, and the breakfast was enjoyable. We appreciated being here. One recommendation: it would be better to serve hot coffee with breakfast, rather than serving it earlier so that it doesn't get cold.

First of all…great atmosphere. Nice furniture, lights and music. Second…the coffee was great. We’ve had an oat milk flat white and espresso tonic, both well balanced and tasty. The food was really good. The bagel was on the dryer side and would use a splash of hollandaise, but overall there were no major issues. But…there was one thing bothering our minds during our brunch. The lack of table service. The instruction to order at the bar was buried deep in the menu. If we hadn’t wanted to order food, we might not even known. And we were asked to pay immediately after ordering. Was giving unwelcoming. There were four people behind the bar. It seemed reasonable to expect them to take orders at tables. Especially when the spot is not the cheapest and has otherwise a very professional vibe.

GLUTEN FREE AND VEGAN OPTIONS! Wow, what a brunch! As vegan, this was INCREDIBLE! The food was delicious, the service was amazing, and the smoothies SO YUM. Plus everything we ate was gluten free!

Fresh and super tasty food - the warm goats cheese salad and mushroom soup were excellent! Waffles a little overdone but good topping choices. Really sweet staff and super warm considering it was -3 outside!

Pistachio waffles were great, “pulled pork” sendwich was just ok. Bounty coffee was amazing! Service was however very bad - we were sitting outside and not any of 3 workers never came out when we were finished..

We ordered creamy broccoli soup, the snack plate and waffles in this cute little place. The broccoli soup came really quickly and it was actually really delicious. The snack plate took some time to arrive, which is understandable since there are a lot of veggies to cut. The veggies were fresh and the bread and the cheese were really good. The tomato salsa and the guacamole not so much, they lacked taste. It took a lot of time to get the waffles, I was about to go ask about them, but then they finally arrived. The gluten free waffle itself was like cardboard, not very good, but fortunately the ice cream and the syrup along with berries made it desserty enough. The staff was super nice though, so props for them for being really really nice. I wish everyone was that nice in Budapest.

Omg... these are too good! Highly recommend but be ready for a decent portion. I can't believe these waffles were gluten free!!! My first ones in over a decade and wow! Highly recommend!

Lovely gluten-free spot with a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, and waffles. We sat outside in a small side street, which created a really pleasant atmosphere. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and everyone enjoyed their meal – even those who don’t usually eat gluten-free said the food was excellent. The citrus lemonade was absolutely top! Highly recommended.

Great food with all gluten free with vegan options. Such good food unfortunately quite a few menu options had run out but such a good meal in Budapest!
Poppy G — Google review
My friend and I went to Herbar yesterday. On the sign it said "Vegan & gluten-free." Unfortunately, we had to pay extra for vegan milk, which was surprising, since in fully vegan places you usually don’t pay more – and we didn’t expect cow’s milk to be offered at all. If we hadn’t specifically asked about the milk, they would have served us cow’s milk by default. Apart from that, the food was good, but the drinks were disappointing. I ordered a smoothie that didn’t taste fresh, it was very cold and felt like it was made with a lot of crushed ice. My friend had a coffee, which also didn’t taste good. It was mixed with too much syrup, the flavor was far from a proper coffee, and again, there was a lot of ice. Unfortunately, our overall experience wasn’t great. Even the staff weren’t particularly friendly when we asked for another coffee. They did make a new one, but only after a bit of discussion. All in all, I’d say it’s a good place to eat, but if you’re looking for a good coffee, we’d recommend going somewhere else.

Bartók - Reggel, Délben, Este is a trendy restaurant and café located in the Ujbuda neighborhood of Budapest. The interior features a mix of industrial elements like exposed brick walls and steel beams, along with cozy touches such as Edison bulbs and rustic table tops. The breakfast menu offers a variety of options including eggs Benedict variations, toasted sandwiches, scrambled eggs, and a generous goat cheese salad with walnuts and dried tomatoes.
We wanted to try some authentic Hungarian dishes for lunch and we were not disappointed! The Chicken Paprikash with Dumplings and the Goulash were both fantastic. Our waitress was also extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

This restaurant is a great spot for a relaxed brunch, lunch, or dinner. The cozy interior, filled with lush greenery, creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it ideal for any time of the day. The menu offers a wide selection, ranging from street food-inspired dishes to more traditional options, ensuring something for everyone. The food is well-prepared and flavorful, with fair pricing that makes it even more appealing. Their wine list offers a great variety of local and international option. The service was decent. Overall, it’s a charming spot with great food and ambiance, worth visiting for a casual meal or a laid-back evening.
Melinda E — Google review
The food and service is pretty forgettable, the only thing that’s good about this place is its location and they definitely charge that in their prices. Do not get the mojitos though and spare some money, because it tastes like some cheap sparkling water with a couple slices of lime in it to make it look good - wouldn’t be able to tell that it’s also got alcohol in it, or anything else for that matter.
Lorant B — Google review
Good atmosphere and the waiter was great! However the food wasnt as good as you'd think it be with these prices. We had fish n chips, risotto and potato dumplings. The fish was very soggy, no crisp at all. Risotto was tasty but a bit too al dente for my taste but the dumplings were very nice. For dessert we had brownie and a NYE special donuts with apricots. Sadly the brownie was dry as concrete and not tasty. Donuts were decent but a little bit too greasy. Overall an OK experience but for the price you'd expect a little bit more. The polite and funny waiter made the it much better and we will give it another chance only because of him. Bathroom was fresch and clean!

The foods are reasonable price and the atmosphere is excellent. The volume of dishes may be smaller than those of typical Hungarian foods, but such volumes are better for our stomach.

Reasonable prices and very tasty brunch! Suitable with small kids as well. Mulled wine, craft beer, the usual coffee trade, the only thing missing was cocoa or hot chocolate for the kids 👌

The service here is amazing. Arrived about 20 minutes before closing, and the staff was very nice. They did their best to speak English and help with the selection. I was waiting for my waffle, and the worker was apologetic about them not having the toppings I ordered and helped me pick a different one. Overall a really positive experience. The bubble waffles are fresh and delicious, can recommend with raspberry jam. Thank you to the lovely staff serving us, even though it was late at night.

Restaurant
New York Café, a Neo-Baroque establishment dating back to 1894, has a rich history as a gathering place for Hungarian writers and poets. Despite being partially destroyed during World War II and later nationalized by the communist regime, it was restored to its former glory in 2006 by the Boscolo Group. The café's opulent interior features stunning frescoes by renowned Hungarian painters from the 19th century, along with intricate marble floors and gilded decorations.
Our experience at New York Café Budapest was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we walked in, the ambience felt absolutely extravagant; ornate, elegant, and breathtaking in every detail. It truly lives up to its reputation as one of the most beautiful cafés in the world. The service was amazing, seamless, and consistently attentive. A special mention goes to Tundi, whose friendliness and attentiveness elevated the entire experience. She made us feel genuinely welcome and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Her warm personality and professionalism are a credit to the café. If you’re looking for a place where world-class ambience meets exceptional service, New York Café Budapest is unmatched. Absolutely unforgettable.
Sharolyn G — Google review
If you want to see the venue and want amazing pictures go for it. Try and come early or late to avoid the queues. It is very beautiful inside. However if you not fussed about the fuss then avoid. I think its good to see and experience once. Service was ok. We went with time and just chilled. Was overall a good experience. The live violinist was really nice. The history of the place is amazing. There were some vegan options. The hot chocolate was very filling and rich.
Mitesh — Google review
I went to New York Cafe in Budapest to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, and it was honestly a terrible experience. I spoke with the waiter beforehand to bring a dessert with a candle after we finished our meal. After eating, we waited a very long time, watching other tables get cakes with candles while nothing came to ours. I went to another waiter to remind him about the dessert — he said okay, but again, nothing happened. Eventually, we asked for the bill, and guess what? The dessert was added to it even though it never arrived. I told them I wouldn’t pay for something that was never brought, and only then did a lady finally come with the dessert — with the candle already blown out — and asked my boyfriend if it was his birthday. Seriously, who does that? It completely ruined the moment. We waited forever, the food was not worth the hype, and the service was unbelievably poor. I understand it’s a busy place, but that just shows what happens when there’s no competent management. Definitely not worth even one star.
Adriana A — Google review
Not worth the money if you’re going for food or coffee at New York Café. Overpriced, with the decoration being the only thing that stands out but toilets decoration is pretty poor. We visited New York Café Budapest expecting a proper gourmet experience, and while the place itself is absolutely stunning, the food really missed the mark. To be fair, the decor is gorgeous—the chandeliers and lighting give the whole place a really special vibe, and the live piano music creates a warm, cosy atmosphere. Visually, it’s pretty incredible. But the food was a real letdown. The coffee had barely any flavour, and my partner’s coffee even came out cold, so we had to send it back. He ordered the Hungarian eggs, which were alright, but my eggs Benedict were honestly a shocker. The muffin was so dry and tough it was nearly impossible to cut—nothing like the soft, fluffy base you’d expect from a proper eggs Benny. Overall, the venue is beautiful and the ambiance is spot-on, but the food just didn’t deliver. For such a famous spot, the whole dining experience was pretty disappointing and definitely didn’t live up to the hype.
Yesenia S — Google review
My mom & I visited the café on two different days, and both experiences were absolutely wonderful. The stunning interior and elegant atmosphere make it a must-visit in Budapest it truly feels like dining inside a palace! On our first day, Gergely, who attended to us was very professional and composed. I believe he’s one of the managers, and his presence and attention to detail made a great impression On our second day, we were warmly attended by Stefi, who was always smiling, attentive, and genuinely kind. Her positive energy made our visit extra special. The food, coffee, and desserts were excellent, but it’s really the staff. If you're lucky enough to be served by Stefi you're in for a treat! 🌟
Christopher — Google review
The place is quite touristy, and even on a late weekday evening there was still a short queue. Despite its large size with at least two floors, it was packed, and the tables felt very close together. The interior is undeniably beautiful, though it could use better maintenance and cleanliness. As expected, the menu items are on the pricey side. I’m not complaining since we’re tourists ourselves, but it’s probably not the best choice if you’re after a relaxed atmosphere.
Mary L — Google review
Stunning Setting with Room for Service Improvement New York Café is one of the most beautiful cafés in the world, with a breathtaking interior that feels like stepping into a palace. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Budapest, and it’s absolutely worth visiting for the atmosphere alone. The food is good, though not exceptional, and the service could be better. The staff seem quite used to the constant flow of tourists, so the experience can feel a bit rushed or impersonal at times. Still, it’s a must-see spot for its incredible architecture and history. If you go, take your time to enjoy the surroundings, it’s an unforgettable place to have coffee or dessert, even if the service isn’t as polished as the setting.
Mat M — Google review
Initially we were allocated in this annex room down the bottom. It was very disappointing as you can’t even hear the music. My review would have been 1 star. Luckily I decided to speak to the manager and we were kindly moved to the upper room where the experience met the expectation and I had the most amazing blueberry cheesecake coup hearing the music and seeing the musicians. The experience downstairs was terrible. Forgotten with the underdogs. It’s impossible to have a great experience there as you will be saddened by the prices in a regular room. In my opinion that room should not be used unless they put a musician playing down there. Even the food felt average whilst we sat there. Life was different on the upper floor and I strongly reccomend you to complain about your seat in case you are taken to the dark room far from the magic. We had an amazing experience and it was worth every cent once sat on the upper level. I would definetely return.

The Central Market Hall in Budapest is a restored neogothic hall that offers a diverse shopping and dining experience. The ground floor features grocery produce, including Hungarian paprika, fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, meat, pastries, wine, chocolate, and jams. On the first floor, visitors can find souvenirs and various food stands offering a wide range of culinary delights. This three-story market is an ideal place to shop for local goods while enjoying lunch and picking up souvenirs.
The building was designed and built by Samu Pecz in 1897. The market offers a wide variety of stalls on three floors. The entrance gate has a neo-Gothic touch. A special architectural feature is the roof, which was renovated with colorful Zsolnay tiles from Pécs. The building is 10,000 square meters in size and is covered with a steel structure. During the Second World War, the market was heavily damaged. It was not until 1991 that a thorough renovation was undertaken, which restored it to its original splendor. The building was reopened in 1997, and in 1999 it was awarded the FIABCI Prix d'Excellence. The Central Market is still one of the city's most popular tourist attractions. Most of the stalls on the ground floor offer produce, meat, pastries, sweets, spices and spirits. You can find paprika spice, Tokaj wine, Túró Rudi, kolbász sausages and salamis there. On the second mezzanine floor there are restaurants and stalls selling tourist souvenirs. In the basement there are fishmongers, stalls with selected vegetables and a few specialized butchers.
Erik V — Google review
It is a pleasant location to explore and capture memorable photographs. The scenery offers ample opportunities for creative compositions and stunning visuals. Although the surroundings are beautiful, the dining experience could be improved. Hopefully, future visits will bring enhancements to the culinary offerings. Overall, it remains a lovely place to visit.

It is the largest indoor market in Budapest, located at one end of the famous Váci utca. It is located in a building whose facade is built in a neo-Gothic style, very pleasing to the eye and in harmony with the architecture of the neighboring buildings. Inside, on the ground floor you will find many shops with local cold cuts, dairy, wines and other products. In the basement is the fish market. You can reach the upper level by several stairs but also by an escalator, located in close proximity of the main entrance. Access to the shops on the first floor is along corridors that look like balconies. Here are numerous gift/souvenir shops but also the Fakánal Etterem restaurant, which, if you want to taste the flavors of traditional Hungarian food, you must definitely make a stop. We did and we did not regret it. At lunchtime, when we arrived, we had to be a little patient to get to the desired menu, but it was worth it. I treated myself with a goulash soup and a portion of stuffed cabbage rolls. Everything was very tasty. I consider this place to be recommended to visit.
Cri B — Google review
It’s a nice market full of both dry goods and groceries. A lot of fresh meat products and vegetables could be found here and with good quality. On the second floor, there’s a selection of souvenirs, as well as some food stalls selling local food.
Minnie L — Google review
The Central Market Hall in Budapest is a wonderful place to explore if you want to experience local Hungarian culture in one spot. The market is housed inside a beautiful, well-organised historic building that feels lively but not chaotic. Everything is neatly arranged, and it’s easy to navigate through the different sections. You can find plenty of authentic Hungarian products here — from fresh local vegetables and spices to handmade crafts and souvenirs. There are also food stalls offering traditional dishes, so you can enjoy a snack or meal right inside the market while soaking in the atmosphere. The vendors are friendly and take pride in their products, making the experience feel genuine rather than touristy. There’s a good mix of local shoppers and visitors, which adds to its charm. The market also has clean, paid toilet facilities, which is convenient if you plan to spend more time browsing. Whether you’re looking for paprika, embroidered linens, or just a good place to people-watch, the Central Market Hall offers it all. It’s an enjoyable and colourful stop that captures the real spirit of Budapest in a single building.

Szimpla Kert is a must-visit in Budapest, known for being one of the oldest and most famous ruin bars in the city. Located in the Jewish quarter, this huge pub is filled with an eclectic mix of old items and even features a disused Trabant car. The building itself is impressive, adorned with diverse objects hanging from walls and ceilings. Visitors can enjoy live music, food, a market area, and a garden within its alternative decor.
Amazing open-air experience! This place is absolutely fantastic – an open patio with multiple bars, each offering something unique. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed, perfect for any occasion. The cocktails are simply outstanding – creative, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. A must-visit spot if you love great drinks and an amazing vibe!
Roni S — Google review
Such a unique place - as a tourist you HAVE to go. Buzzing place at night but particularly I recommend going during the day. You get to see how great this place is and everything it has. Day drinking in a ruin bar will easily become the highlight.
Rituja R — Google review
I don’t go to bars, so I haven’t experienced Szimpla Kert at night, but visiting during the Sunday market was really nice! From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., local producers offer a wide range of fresh and artisanal products, including breads, cheeses, honey, jams, yogurts, pasta, and traditional Hungarian sweets. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and entry is free—perfect for anyone wanting to explore the local culture in an authentic way.
Luana B — Google review
A wild, unforgettable experience, Budapest’s ruin bar culture at its best. Szimpla Kert is unlike any bar I’ve ever visited. Located in the heart of the Jewish Quarter, it’s the original ruin bar, a concept born from transforming abandoned buildings into eclectic, artsy nightlife spaces. The place is a visual overload: mismatched furniture, bathtubs as seats, graffiti-covered walls, and quirky installations everywhere you look. I went once at night. Night time, , is when Szimpla comes alive: live music, DJs, and a buzzing crowd of locals and tourists. It’s loud, chaotic, and absolutely fun. Drinks are reasonably priced for a tourist hotspot, and they have a good selection of local craft beers (try the Budapest Lager) and cocktails. The staff were friendly, and the vibe was welcoming despite the crowds. Tips: Go early if you want to explore the space and take photos. At night, expect crowds—especially on weekends. Would I go back? Definitely. Szimpla Kert is more than a bar, it’s a cultural experience and a must-see if you’re in Budapest.

I would recommend getting a coffee in the morning to explore the flea market as well and at night visiting around 7-8pm to avoid the queue (weekend) and grabbing a cherry ale. The cherry ale was lovely and the interior blew my mind. Strongly recommend to visit!

Fun and vibrant spot with great energy! The decor is quirky and full of character, and the atmosphere is lively every night. Drinks are good, though a bit pricey and crowded at times

Night vs. Day – The Perfect Contrast! On Friday night, the place explodes into an electrifying party with multiple bars and a superb international vibe. On Sunday morning, the same space amazingly transforms into a calm, charming Farmer's Market, complete with high-quality live cover music. The atmosphere in both modes is completely different and absolutely mesmerizing. In short: It’s a genius idea for dual space utilization! A must-visit!

Két Szerecsen Bistro is a charming 2-floor venue located on Nagymezo utca, also known as the Pest Broadway in Budapest. This cozy bistro offers a blend of Hungarian dishes, tapas-style plates, and breakfast options. The ambiance exudes a trendy yet sophisticated vibe with North African ornaments and Spanish flavors. The restaurant's intimate atmosphere reminiscent of Parisian bistros makes it an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or a leisurely lunch.
Lovely dining experience! I went here with my family twice during our holiday and both times, the food was superb and the service was polite, friendly and prompt. The portion sizes were generous and beautifully presented with a wide range of options for all dietary needs. The drinks were also of a very reasonable price, especially the homemade syrups and lemonades! I recommend the duck breast with goat's cheese and pomegranate sauce, as well as the passion fruit and pineapple lemonade (both seen in the picture attached). However, I believe you would be very satisfied with whatever you order on the menu :)

Simple Hungarian food like beef goulash is great here with decent prices. This one is an honest place - not a tourist trap. I also tried their Moroccan lamb tapas and they're very good. The atmosphere is cozy with also seating available outside.

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Budapest 🌟 From the very first visit, it became our absolute favorite spot during our stay. The cozy atmosphere, warm lighting, cozy decor created the perfect feel after a day of exploring the city. The staff were incredibly kind, always smiling, happy to offer recommendations. Every dish we tried was a masterpiece. The flavors were original and perfectly balanced, the presentation was stunning, and the focus on seasonal ingredients made each meal feel fresh and thoughtful. From appetizers to desserts, everything was crafted with care and creativity. We loved it so much, we came back several times during our trip. I recommend cucumber&mint lemonade and mushroom risotto😍 💖 If you’re looking for a spot where culinary artistry meets heartfelt hospitality, this is it. I truly fell in love with this place and can’t wait to return.

Déryné is a two-floor brasserie in Budapest that offers a blend of Hungarian and French cuisine. Situated at the foot of Castle Hill, it is one of the oldest restaurants in the Buda districts. The restaurant features an in-house bakery, a garden, and daily piano performances. While not the most budget-friendly option, Déryné provides a unique dining experience with its French-influenced Hungarian dishes and an extensive wine selection.
The place is charming, large, with a variety of indoor and outdoor seating options for all tastes. It's luxurious, so don't do as I did and come well dressed. The food is delicious with good, fresh ingredients and freshly prepared. The service is very friendly and very professional. I really wanted to give this restaurant a 5 — and trust me, I’m holding on to that last star so tightly! This spot was recommended by a friend, and from the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a great evening. The waiter greeted us warmly and reassured us they’d find us a table, which they did without any hassle. The atmosphere was absolutely spectacular — beautiful, elegant, and with a sexy charm. A DJ was playing in the background, adding to the vibe without being intrusive. The restaurant features both indoor and outdoor seating, each space beautifully designed with dim romantic lighting, warm wood accents, and plants woven into the decor. We chose to sit outside and it was perfect. We turned to Google Maps for food suggestions and ended up ordering the eggplant schnitzel as a starter and the veal escalope for our main. The portions were generous, the presentation was excellent, and the quality of the food truly stood out. Everything was full of flavor and thoughtfully prepared. To top it off, they welcomed us with complimentary bread, olive oil, and thyme — and ended the meal with delicious Hungarian bubbles on the house. It’s those extra touches that really make a difference. A special shoutout to Martin, our waiter, who was incredibly helpful and added so much warmth to our experience. We highly recommend this place — it’s absolutely worth the visit!

Truly an incredible meal. I've eaten at a lot of good places and this is top 5 if not the best. This place should have a Michelin star. Every dish was phenomenal, words really can't describe how perfect everything was. This is fine dining at the highest level. It's tied together with incredible service. Our server Matte was on point and really sets an example of how a server should command the whole meal and delivery

After a disappointing visit some time ago, I decided to give Déryné another chance and I’m so happy I did! I completely fell in love with this place again. The food is delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every time I’ve been back, the experience has been excellent. The service is also 10/10: each time we were served by different waiters, and every one of them was kind and attentive. They paid attention to every little detail and made us feel truly welcomed. The atmosphere and decoration make it such a warm, cozy, and elegant place to be. It’s one of my favorite spots in Budapest, and I always look forward to going back. I recently celebrated my birthday here, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Overall, Déryné has completely won me back. Amazing food, amazing service, amazing vibe. One of the best places in town!

Vibe is great, loved the live jazz, service was attentive and not overbearing. But: the prices are just not justified by the quality of the food. Don’t get me wrong — there is nothing problematic with the food. It’s perfectly fine. But this is a restaurant priced at double Michelin star level, and, that it is not.

One of the most delicious Eggs Benedict I’ve ever had! The poached eggs were perfectly cooked, the hollandaise sauce was silky and full of flavor, and the crispy bread tied everything together beautifully with the bacon and herbs. A brunch dish that combines simplicity and elegance — every bite was pure bliss! 💛🍳

The best breakfast we had in Budapest, by far. The service was very warm and welcoming, possible to adjust dishes to vegetarian option. We had English breakfast and beans on toast, both were amazing. Super recommended

Lovely brunch spot! The iced tea was refreshing, the English breakfast was hearty and perfectly cooked, and the French toast was soft, sweet, and delicious. Great food and cozy atmosphere — definitely worth a visit!
Shaun C — Google review
Was decent but the eggs Benedict was quite salty. Bit over salty with the crispy bacon on top though it gave it a nice crunch . My sister had the French toast which looked amazing. The white woman in front of us in the queue was offered a free coffee if she left a review, and she didn’t seem like the type of that would, and she didn’t commit to doing so but was still given free coffee. We (two Indian girls) were right behind her, and way more likely to do this, but we’re not offered anything.

The perfect comfort meal! A classic English breakfast with crispy bacon, tasty sausages, perfectly cooked eggs, and toasted bread. I visited the restaurant and must say the overall experience was wonderful. The ambiance is lovely and the location is beautiful and very relaxed. The service, however, was a mix of excellent and disappointing. The lady who took our order was absolutely lovely, very welcoming, cooperative, and constantly smiling. I truly commend her for her excellent customer service! Unfortunately, her colleague seemed noticeably annoyed. He appeared uninterested in the customers, and when we asked him a question, he tried to keep his answers brief and quickly move away. It's possible that work pressure affected him, but the contrast was noticeable. In summary, the restaurant is beautiful and very pleasant. I definitely recommend it for its atmosphere and the warmth of some of its staff. 9.75/10 🌹🌹

A lovely spot for breakfast or brunch! The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. Prices are fair for the area. It does get busy on weekends, so you might have to wait in line. The coffee here is actually strong — unlike many other places in Budapest. I ordered a double-shot latte expecting it to be on the milky side, but one shot would’ve been more than enough! We tried the Hangover Burrito and the egg breakfast — both were tasty, though the food took a bit of time to arrive. The interior is pretty, but it had a strong artificial air freshener scent and felt quite warm. Thankfully, the host kindly let us move to the patio, which was amazing on a sunny day. I’ll definitely be back!

I’ve been to this café several times during both my previous visit to Budapest and again this time, and it never disappoints. Their brunch menu is full of creative twists on the classics – the benedicts in particular are outstanding, beautifully prepared and delicious every time. The patio is a lovely spot to relax, especially on a sunny morning, and the atmosphere feels both cozy and lively. Staff are consistently friendly and welcoming, which really adds to the experience. A place I always look forward to returning to – highly recommended if you want a brunch that’s both satisfying and memorable.

The location is beautifully designed, impeccably clean, and immediately inviting. The staff exemplifies professionalism—genuinely kind, attentive, and consistently courteous from start to finish. The food quality exceeded every expectation. I had the best Eggs Benedict I have ever tasted, prepared with remarkable precision and balance. Each component was fresh, well-executed, and clearly made with care. The only minor drawback was the longer wait time; however, the team proactively apologized and thanked me for my patience. Considering the restaurant was completely full and everything is cooked to order, the delay was entirely understandable. I’m truly glad to have discovered this little breakfast and brunch gem in Budapest at the very start of my trip. I will certainly return every time I have the chance.

We ordered the poached eggs with sourdough and avocado and loved it! The portion was good and it was beautifully presented. After a late night and an early start, I found myself in desperate need of caffeine—coffee, to be precise. Just a stone’s throw from my place, I stumbled across this little gem and decided to give it a try. I ordered a latte and took it outside to sip while people-watching. Now, I’ll admit—I’m more of a tea drinker than a coffee enthusiast. But this cup genuinely surprised me. Velvety smooth, with a nutty depth and unmistakable freshness, it was hands-down one of the best coffees I’ve ever had. You could taste that it was freshly roasted on the premises. It’s a small, independent business, but with quality like this, I truly hope they flourish. In fact, I was so impressed that I didn’t stop at one—I ordered a second. And that says it all.

The bakery prides itself on using only locally sourced high-quality ingredients without any additives, flour improvers, or preservatives.
If a place has a queue of locals all day, it can only be outstanding! One of the best bakeries I’ve ever been to. It’s like Willy Wonka himself baked the treats on offer. It’s difficult to choose what to eat when everything looks so delicious. The pistachio and raspberry pastry wheel was incredible. Great coffee too. If you’re in Budapest and looking for coffee, pastry, breakfast, or any of the above, I can’t recommend Artizán enough!

We came because it had a high rating. There was a line at the door and the outdoor tables were full. We ordered one cinnamon roll, one chocolate roll, and two cappuccinos. We sat upstairs. The rolls didn’t taste that good. The place is cute, but what we had wasn’t worth the price. I think it’s an overrated spot.

Charming bakery right by the Ministry of Sports. Expect a line, but it moves quickly. Warm, hard-working staff keep things humming. Pastries are stellar. Don’t miss the croissants, baguettes, and the tangy sourdough bread. Worth the wait and a repeat visit. Coffee’s solid, too. Prices are fair.

Artizan Bakery is an absolute gem in Budapest. Everything we tried was so tasty, fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Their pastries are light, flaky, and packed with flavor, and the sourdough bread is exceptional. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients and traditional techniques, which makes a huge difference. The atmosphere is cozy and stylish, perfect for breakfast or a quick coffee break. Staff were friendly and efficient, even though the place was busy. Prices are reasonable for the quality, and the coffee pairs perfectly with their pastries. Tip: Go early for the best selection, items sell out fast. Try their almond croissant or pistachio pastries, they’re incredible. Expect a short wait during peak hours, but it’s worth it. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Artizan is a must-visit for anyone who loves great bread and pastries in Budapest.

Guys… They DO NOT have vegan stuff! Yesterday I bought some pastries, asking specifically for vegan to an employee. I arrived home and ate it and it was absolutely NOT vegan. But just to check before writing something, I went back again today and asked if they have vegan stuff. Today they said they don’t.!!! I wonder why I got mislead like that yesterday. I am lactose intolerant!!! If you are just looking for genuine buttery bakery, this is the place to go! For that they deserve 5 stars. I just wish they would have had honesty on the first day. Update: what has been marketed to ma as vegan was the salty pastry, with feta… Thanks a lot 👌 Pls educate your employees

Artizan Bakery is a must-visit in Budapest! Their award-winning breads truly live up to the hype — fresh, flavorful, and delicious every time. I’ve been to Budapest twice, and both times I started my day with breakfast at Artizan Cafe. There was a long queue, but it moved quickly as customers were served fast, so the wait was definitely worth it. Just keep in mind to go early in the morning — after 9 AM, vegetarian options become limited. As a vegetarian, I’m especially impressed with the quality and variety of vegetarian choices. The staff are friendly and provide excellent service, making the whole experience even better. The ambience is cozy and inviting, and the prices are very reasonable for such high quality. Delicious food in a cozy place next to the Synagogue. We had Benedict eggs, club sandwiches, some sweets and everything was very good. We had breakfast here every morning during our stay in Budapest. The food was delicious, we've been there two times out of three days spent in Budapest. On the first day we wanted to try everything from the menu, and ordered more food (the pictures are from the second day). We had an authentic French experience with croissants 🥐, baguette 🥖, butter 🧈, and jam. Also, we tried the foie gras with fig jam - it was so tasty, you have to try it once. I highly recommend this cozy, little French corner in the middle of the city. 🤤

The egg fougasse was the best thing I had in Budapest. The egg was cooked to protection! However, you need to arrive early to get one! We came in and there was 2 egg fougasses left, by the time we left they were gone (I know because I tried to order another one after I realized how amazing it was and they were out). The croissant sandwich was our second favorite! This is a MUST for your Budapest travel plans!

Every bite felt like comfort and quality combined. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the pastries were fresh and flaky, and the coffee? Chef’s kiss smooth, rich, and strong in the best way. You can tell they really care about what they serve, because every plate came out looking beautiful and tasted even better. We left full, happy, and already planning to come back. If you’re in the area and love a good brunch, do not skip this place. Total gem. 🌞🥐☕️

Café Jedermann, located on the bustling restaurant street of Pest, was founded in 2010 by Hans van Vliet, a well-known figure in the Budapest scene. By day, it's a popular spot for local university students, while at night it transforms into a prominent dinner-and-show venue. The café hosts a variety of musical performances including string quartets, swing ensembles, jazz and funk concerts.
Lovely jazz club not far from Budapest downtown. Live music, delicious kitchen, warm atmosphere and kind staff. Reservation needed for table because it’s usually full house. Recommended place for music and jazz lovers.

A cozy and welcoming jazz café, with some tasty local and international food. I had their gulyás (I'm a big fan of this dish) and it was excellent!!!

What a cozy little spot. I went for a jazz show and it was amazing! The food was really good. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. It was soo good I had to order a second one.
Zolitta1 Z — Google review
Café Jedermann is hands down my favorite spot in Budapest. we went a few times, sometimes just for a beer, other times for a bite, and every visit was a great experience. the atmosphere is effortlessly cool and cozy, with music that always matched our taste. The soups are seriously good and incredibly cheap...a perfect match for the low beer prices. and if you’re into Jazz, this place is a must. we were lucky enough to catch a concert by the amazing Bálint Gyémánt Trio, and it was unforgettable. *If you want to see one of their two weekend shows, definitely book at least a week in advance - tickets go fast* Even when the place was full, the staff was super nice and really attentive. there were usually only two waitresses and one bartender, but they always managed to keep things running smoothly, never making us wait too long. Really, really good staff. Even if you can’t get a spot for a concert, it’s worth coming here on any other night just to soak in the vibe. I know I’ll be back, and if you’re in Budapest, I can’t recommend it enough...

This delightful spot offers breakfast throughout the day, allowing visitors to indulge in a variety of dishes accompanied by wine or prosecco. The outdoor terrace, adorned with lush greenery, provides a perfect setting for enjoying expertly prepared breakfast options such as ham and eggs, frankfurters, and meat and cheese platters.
Great. This is one the nicest cafes in Budapest, with a lovely outdoor patio surrounded by trees giving it that special vibe. The coffee, drinks and food they serve are all of excellent quality — and the service is super friendly. They also operate an Italian delicatessen which offers great quality products.
Roland T — Google review
Today I had breakfast. The place is beautiful and I was very impressed, as was the service, but the most important thing was the food. I ordered a salmon and avocado toast, along with a green salad, and the sandwich was spread with cream cheese (or so I thought). At first glance, it looked nice, but after the first bites of the salad, I tasted honey or syrup on it – that really put me off. I was hoping for olive oil or vinaigrette. Unfortunately, the toast was also unseasoned; I couldn't taste any salt or pepper. I asked for extra lemon because the entire breakfast was very flat, with no distinctive flavors (aside from the salmon).
Ziemniak T — Google review
Awesome brunch place/café/deli and certainly the best in Újlipótváros. It has a unique atmosphere and the food is actually great. Shout out to their avocado toast. Great coffee too. Gets very busy during the weekend in good weather especially.

I can only say good thinks about Sarki Fűszeres. When we arrived on Sunday morning we got seated at the last available table. The portions were abundant and of good quality. Our server was friendly and although it was busy she was checking upon is if everything was ok. She helped us to find another table under the canopy when it started to rain. The meals were delicious and we left very satisfied.

Food was good, but the vibe of the place is what’s charming about it. The location is in a cute corner. If the weather is good you can enjoy a little sun in the outdoor seating. Usually the place is full for brunch so go early if in a bigger group.

This place was an unexpected surprise for me. I was wandering around Budapest on a cloudy Saturday afternoon looking for somewhere to chill out and relax. And then— lucky for me, I found the Café Zsivágó. The place was packed! I found a corner and a comfy chair— and enjoyed a lovely Aperol spritz. I was able to read my book, sip my cocktail and soak up the lovely atmosphere. If I could, I would give this place 10 stars. Bravo!!

Very old fashioned but cozy café and bar. Good for a calm evening with unique seats. There are also small spots upstairs. The waiter is super sweet and adds to the charme. They also have some small snacks. Don't miss out on this one.

Szivago Café is honestly the prettiest café I’ve been to in Budapest. It’s like stepping into a time machine — super retro, filled with old furniture, quirky details everywhere, and so cozy you’ll never want to leave. The staff are amazing, warm, and welcoming, which just makes the whole experience even better. It’s quiet, comfy, and feels like a little hidden gem in the city. And oh — do yourself a favor and try the coffee vodka, Russian style. It’s insanely good, will get you a little tipsy, and is absolutely worth it (just… careful 😉). A true time journey and a must-visit spot if you love unique cafés with character!

Tried their hot chocolate with ice cream topping. I can’t say it was the best but not that bad. Price was good. Service was nice. But if u really want to try good drinks i wouldn’t recommend this place.
Khulan. G — Google review
The place is very cozy, the music they play is immaculate. It is a bit crowded however if you go in the later hours, and you might not find free seats. (I recommend the carrot cake for a try, it's heavenly.)
Viktor J — Google review
The place looks very special and their coffee (we ordered two cappuccinos) were delicious and creamy, just how we like it. That was the positive about this place. The staff was by far the worst that I've ever encountered in Budapest and I've been to many before. (I'm a local Hungarian.) They didn't care about the people, they make you wait at the counter for minutes, even though they see you... (they were busy selecting music which was actually very loud and annoying and the lyrics were agressive). They also said the wrong price to me when I paid and threw the receipt into the bin immediately. So I only realized at home on my phone that I paid 200 forints more.. which is not much, but that doesn't really matter, because if they do it on a regular basis that's unacceptable... we were very disappointed, I don't recommend this place.

Aran Bakery in Budapest is a charming establishment founded by a Hungarian couple with a passion for travel and baking. Their global adventures have influenced the diverse range of bread and pastries available, drawing inspiration from Irish, French, American, and Hungarian culinary traditions. The bakery's signature sourdough bread, crafted with a starter named Paddy from Dublin, is a standout offering.
The best croissant of my life to date. The taste is amazing, and very fresh.. This is not a cafe, the seating is limited and the space is small, but the quality of their pastries is excellent. Highly recommended
Negin — Google review
Arán Bakery offers a wide variety of pastries, breads, cafe and sandwiches with fast service and a stylish, modern vibe. It can get very busy, especially in the mornings. While the selection is impressive, the sandwich with chicken I had came with very hard bread—tough to chew and not the most enjoyable. Great for a quick stop, but some items may be more style than comfort. Decent prices in good location, overall recommend it!
Maria A — Google review
A lovely corner bakery with all kinds of baked goods and bread and you could get. The coffee are also super delicious. Seatings are limited but if you want to grab and go, definitely a perfect spot for that. We got the iced dirty chai, flat white, a cruffin, a cinnamon bun, and orange juice. Everything was great. We ended up revisiting a couple days later.

Great Bistro is a vibrant and popular vegan restaurant located near Szabadsag ter in Budapest. The menu offers a variety of options including soups, main courses, sides, salads, and desserts - all made without meat, dairy products or eggs. The charming pastel-colored cafe is known for its affordable vegan dishes that are often gluten- and lactose-free.
The place to visit for any vegan cuisine enthusiast! Friendly, great prices and impeccable taste. We went there everyday after discovering it during our stay in Budapest. Our favourite was the club sandwich and chickpea omlette!

Popped in late on a Friday night and it was full, came back again on Saturday night and it was empty, the ambience was not as nice and the music was a bit off however we had an amazing meal! The options were very exciting from a vegan point of view - 'faux foie gois' caught our eye and did not disappoint! The food was prepared with a lot of love, presentation was on point and it all tasted delicious.

A WSIWYG nice and quite place to lunch. On your plate it doesn't look like much, and choices are rather limited. But quality is good and its definitely something different. If you're looking for a trendy vegan place, give it a chance! They have beetroot juice and strong espresso's too. Personally I would have liked to see a bit more 'surprise' in the dishes. But it tasted great, so either way 4 stars. Keep it up :)

This is a great little vegan place with a changing daily menu. The Hungarian layered cauliflower with cucumber salad was delicious and I loved the coziness of the place. Waffles and chicken who could have thought that could work out? Had a Cheddar Jalapeno cone which I really enjoyed, it's just that the sauce makes the cone damp at the ending and that made me realize that the waffles weren't that crunchy either. I was also expecting more explosive flavour coming from both the sauce and the chicken but the dominating flavor was pretty much the cheese in the sauce :") Anyhow, the service is great and fast, the place is clean and well-kept. I definitely want MOOOORREEE.

Waffle Dog is a dessert spot known for its traditional Dutch butter treat called poffertjes and filled waffles. One of their popular items is the unicorn-inspired sparkle pony sweet dog topped with vanilla cream, colorful candies, marshmallows, and filled with cocoa dragees.

Clearly a popular place, from reading the reviews, but it was just not for me. They didn't have any of the salt dishes available and the dessert offerings had so much sugar in them it was far too sweet for me. The concept seems kind of original though, and the girl serving was very friendly. From both the food, and the music playing, can imagine it being very popular with young folk. Think I might have enjoyed it more about 25 years ago as well. (The music probably would have been better then too!)

We visited Café Frei (Váci utca 74, Budapest), the first café we stopped by in the city. The staff were very kind, especially one young woman who, besides speaking English, even greeted us in Spanish. As we left, she smiled and said: “Have a good day”. She was very friendly, with a modern haircut and a constant smile. She patiently explained the different savory pastries. We ordered a Flat White (950 Ft ≈ €2.4), an orange juice Rostos Toma 0.33L (590 Ft ≈ €1.5), and two savory baskets: the Mediterranean (650 Ft ≈ €1.6) and the cheese & ham basket (650 Ft ≈ €1.6). Prices were quite reasonable and the place was very clean. In Hungary tipping is optional, but we happily left 10% (284 Ft ≈ €0.7) because the service was excellent. 👉 We paid a total of 3,124 Ft (≈ €7.8) by card. Nor/ma Grand is a highly rated bakery in Oslo with a wide variety of breads, pastries, cakes and pies. They also offer coffee, tea and sandwiches. The bakery is well known for its Norwegian Sweets such as lunsj og krusetøy (a type of sweet bun) and rosenkål (a type of cabbage).
This is a lovely place with great vibes .The pastries looked delicious, and the orange gluten-free cake I had was truly tasty. The lemonade was also very refreshing, and I’ve tried the coffee on a previous visit , it’s definitely a good one. The service can be a bit mixed, sometimes very friendly, other times a bit rushed, especially when asking about ingredients….It would be wonderful to see more gluten-free savory options on the menu. Overall, it’s a great place to relax

This place was recommended to us by a local friend who insisted it was perfect for breakfast or brunch — and he was absolutely right. Located inside a park, the café is surrounded by lush greenery, which you can admire through its large glass windows. The space is open, vibrant, and full of life, making it a great spot to start the day. We went for the “ultimate breakfast” — eggs and salmon on sourdough with a small side salad — paired with fresh orange juice. It was a delicious and satisfying choice. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors worked really well together. It’s a self-service setup: you order at the counter, find a seat, and the staff brings the food to your table. Service was smooth and friendly. Before leaving, we grabbed a coffee and a raspberry matcha to go — unfortunately, both were a bit of a letdown. The coffee lacked flavor, and the matcha was overly milky with not much matcha taste. That said, I still recommend this place for its food, atmosphere, and overall vibe. Just maybe skip the takeaway drinks!

One of the best cafes in Budapest. Their pastries, coffee, and sweets are all excellent. There is usually a queue to order during brunch time, but it moves quickly. They accept cards, speak English, and offer takeout, delivery, and dine-in options. It's totally worth it. The only issue I have is that the inside can be quite noisy, making it difficult to have a calm conversation with a friend.

Unfortunately we didn’t have a nice experience here. Food was nice, we tried both, savoury and sweet options both from the menu and from the counter. The staff was the negative side of the experience. I visited the place once with a friend and we were overcharged for stuff we didn’t even order coz the lady at counter just didn’t get our order. When asked to be refunded they made it as a big deal saying that they cannot refund a card payment. Luckily the manager assisted and refunded us in cash. Very unfortunate that you have to check your receipt to make sure you haven’t been overcharged. We gave them a second chance and came back a second time in a few weeks. Same experience: food was very nice, staff were rude and literally had no clue on how service works in hospitality. I am not sure if it’s a language barrier or if they just don’t enjoy working here or in hospitality in general but it would be nice to provide a bit more training at least on how to be more friendly and polite to the counter girl as no other staff on the floor seemed to be rude or mean they were actually polite and friendly and did their best to change our experience in a better one. Thank you heaps to the young blond lady on the floor who understood the disappointment in our experience and apologised and did their very best to make us feel welcomed. Food was nice though so if you’re not local and you wish to have a good meal, this place is ok, if you’re looking for a good experience, stay away from this place maybe or order online to take away.

They have a lot of brunch options, pastries and breads. I ordered avocado toasts and I received it with side salad. Food and coffee were good but for the portion visible on the picture I paid a bit over 7k huf which seems a lot... after that I tried ice creams and one scoop was quite big and it was only 650 huf.

July 2025: it seems like they realized that they need to do something about the prices, so they removed the service charge from the takeaway orders, this was a Kardamombullar is only 990Ft - smart move! September 2024: everything is super delicious still but starting to get way too expensive even compared to bakeries abroad: a pumpkin spice croissant costs more than €5 is ridiculous, and a Kardamombullar costs less in Broderjakob in Stockholm. 2023: If you are looking for Scandinavian pastries this is the right place. I am in love with kardamombullar, and it tastes exactly like in Sweden. It is pricy indeed, but the service is kind and the place has good vibes as well.

What a cute spot for brunch! The layout is really spacious and comfortable with a big indoor space which merges into the outside patio which has a lovely view of the park. I’d recommend this place for those wanting to work on their computers while enjoying a drink or food. I ordered the avocado toast, which the girl who took my order suggested. I was debating between that and the omelette. I sure am glad that I went with the avocado toast. It was one of the best I have ever had (and I’ve had my fair share of avocado toast). The side salad also did not disappoint. Ultimately, this was a really tasty meal! In addition, I ordered the fresh-squeezed orange juice, which should not be missed!! Overall this was a super-pleasant spot, both because of the calm, clean and spacious setting and of course because of the delicious meal. Make this a spot for your morning fuel!!

Cinnamon, located on Csalogany utca and established in 2017, is a cozy breakfast and brunch spot that has quickly gained popularity among locals. Run by a passionate young couple, the cafe offers a variety of delectable dishes such as French toast, apple-cinnamon doughnuts, English breakfast, avocado toasts, American pancakes, and poached egg variations.
The ladies were very lovely and especially the atmosphere! They have very cute windown seats and tables. Placing and receiving the order was smooth and comforting. After eating the ladies asked if there is anything that she can answer or do for us, and asked how the food was. I find that important and very kind (considerate & mindful). I can only recommend this place for a good brunch!

While the service may seem a bit slow, don’t despair—each order is prepared fresh and with the utmost care, ensuring a meal that’s well worth the wait. The drinks we ordered were refreshing and flavorful. The service was spot on and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. The place is cosy and in a quiet, nice neighborhood in the city. The food was delicious and very fresh. The coffee was very tasty also. The best part of our experience was the friendly staff and the great service. Adam was our waiter and he was very friendly and on top of service. He was super nice to our dog and she had a great time playing with him 😄 (The place is super dog friendly!) I would highly recommend the place for a nice and quiet breakfast/brunch away from the city center crowds.

We went for brunch on a Sunday. The place was full except for 2 empty tables. We ordered the Eggs Benny & Spinach waffles. Both were very good. I got a classic lemonade, as has been our experience in Budapest, it was very good. My husband got a Melange and remembered to ask for it "extra hot", but as in every place we've had coffee in Budapest, it was served at almost room temperature so we've come to the opinion that this is how coffee is served in Hungary & we better get used to it. Make sure you come here prepared for an extremely relaxed meal as service takes time. I do have 1 request of the owners; please change or sharpen the breakfast knives, they are so blunt that I ended up with aching forefingers from trying to cut into my English muffin. I wasn't the only one struggling, I checked around to see how well others were managing with their knives.

Rácskert is a popular ruin bar located in the 7th district of Budapest, Hungary. It has quickly gained favor among the hipster crowd for its vegan food, craft beer, and local folk music. The venue hosts live music performances by visiting bands and screens important local football matches. Additionally, it offers community-focused pub quizzes for an engaging experience.
Definitely make a visit here if your in Budapest. The vegan food was so good! I had the Beyond meat burger, I'm not a veggie/vegan but gave it a go and was thoroughly impressed. Great atmosphere and vibe and you'll find a seat if your patient.

A local ruin bar in Budapest which they are quite famous for! This bar is set away from the nearest busy street (Kazinczy u.) but is a 5 minute walk from there. Ruin bars are generally have open roofs with sheltered areas so you can be open to the elements depending on where you're sat, but it does feel like you're sat indoors! However, we had no issues - there is a massive selection of drinks available and the prices are decent. The environment can be quite noisy if it is busy but there is lots of space to be sat around. TIP: As it is open, you can smoke/vape throughout the whole place, for some this may not be ideal.

This place was being racist towards people of colour and had the audacity to deny us entry saying it's full and we're "middle class". We had free tables for our friends and we all saw customers exiting yet they denied us entry.

Ordered several drinks which were fine but the Aperol Spritz & Mojito prepared by a thin girl with short black hair were atrocious, completely wrong proportions of drink (the mojito has no sugar and was extremely bitter & no lime or mint) & no garnishments or ice. When pointed out the bartender was indifferent, we left the drink behind.

A ruin type bar in the Jewish Quarter. Gets very busy, has a food truck on site selling burgers, Nachos etc. Young and trendy crowd with a good vibe. Drinks were cheaper than others we'd visited.

Great idea to make an open-air food court with different points with food! You can grab the food and drink at any cafe you want and then just sit outside. The place is very lively and cool, however, the staff is very ignorant and not friendly. Also, the food isn't fresh at all the cafes situated there. I really liked Las Vegans' point! Recommended!

Great little spot for excellent breakfast or lunch. The Eggs Benedict was very good. Off the main crowded streets, this place has a great vibe and appears to be popular with locals - who typically know where to go. The cappuccino was more on the latte side but enjoyable and flavorful regardless. -I just lean toward a stronger cappuccino. Like everything, we all have different tastes. Hunyadi Lakásbisztró és Kézműves Söröző is a charming bistro located near the Castle, offering traditional Hungarian dishes. The majority of the menu is naturally gluten-free, although it's not labeled as such. However, the staff are knowledgeable and can discuss available options and food preparation methods. Visitors highly recommend the Pulled Beef Goulash Soup for its delicious flavor.
To be honest we came across this place by accident. We were walking to another restaurant and we got hangry in Hungary so we said well this looks lovely and it was. We sat outside late lunch, food was homey and excellent and the staff (waiter with the red dye hair) was great at what he did. And what is up with Hungary and lemonade! They kill it!!

We stopped by for a quick bite but ended up staying for a late lunch. We ordered a cappuccino, Hungarian beer, chicken salad, and Chicken Paprikash with homemade noodles. Overall, the food was tasty, though there were a few misses. The chicken salad was a disappointment, it lacked dressing and the walnuts listed on the menu were missing. Unfortunately, my husband had a poor experience with it. The Hungarian beer was also underwhelming. On the other hand, I was very pleased with my meal. The Chicken Paprikash was rich and flavorful, and the homemade noodles were soft and comforting, almost like gnocchi. The cappuccino was smooth and satisfying as well.

Truly a hidden gem. Best price in this side of the river. The goulash soup is out of this world and a must try. It comes with sourdough bread as well so it can be meal itself. Portobello Coffee, Brunch & Wine is a top-notch brunch spot in Budapest that offers a unique blend of a specialty coffee shop, chic wine bar, and trendy breakfast eatery. The cozy establishment is located on a charming downtown side street and features high ceilings, sleek decor, oversized windows, and a communal table as its centerpiece. With quality coffee sourced from a renowned Berlin-based roastery and an all-day breakfast menu, it's the perfect place for coffee enthusiasts and food lovers alike.
An unforgettable brunch experience at Portobello Coffee, Brunch & Wine! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm, inviting, and effortlessly stylish. I had the Turkish eggs—and let me tell you, they were perfectly done. Creamy, flavorful, and beautifully balanced, each bite felt like a small celebration of flavor. And then came dessert… absolutely divine. Every spoonful was a dreamy dance of texture and taste, clearly made with love and finesse. But the true star of the experience? The Budapest coffee. It’s not just coffee—it’s magic in a cup. Rich, aromatic, with a depth that lingers beautifully on the palate. I would come back just for that. Portobello is more than a brunch spot—it’s a hidden gem where every detail is thoughtfully crafted. Highly recommended for anyone looking to elevate their weekend ritual.

Maybe a bit stiff up on arriving but what a delight inside. The owners take no shortcuts and only want perfection. The lady will recommend you a beautiful glass of wine to go along with your food. The coffee and pastry are all on the same par. I would love to see some red wine for the lunch.

The service was warm and attentive without being intrusive, and the food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Their coffee was excellent — rich, smooth, and made with care. Overall, the ambience is calm and inviting, making it a great place to have a brunch. There is an option to have a wine here, so there are quite a few options to come here. Definitely a place I’d come back to!

Portobello Coffee delivers a reliable caffeine fix in a relaxed, minimalist setting. We had two cappuccinos, an espresso, an apple crumble cake, and a pistachio cake topped with fruit – all well executed. The coffee is made with Berlin-roasted beans, offering a smooth, balanced flavour profile that holds up across different brews. Cakes were fresh and not overly sweet, making them a good pairing for the drinks. Service was friendly and unhurried, adding to the calm vibe. Quietly rated: worth stopping.

This has become one of my absolute favorite brunch spots in the city. The atmosphere is always lovely, the food is consistently fresh and delicious, and the presentation shows real care. But what truly makes this place special is the staff , they’re always kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, no matter how busy it gets.✨
Nima A — Google review
A true gem in the heart of Hungary! Portobello Coffee Brunch and Wine is hands down one of the best places I’ve visited for breakfast and all-day brunch in Hungary. From the moment we walked in, the clean and cozy interior set the tone. Our group of five was seated at the large communal table in the middle of the café, which instantly sparked conversations with other guests — such a warm and friendly vibe! We started with some of their delicious pastries as appetizers: the blueberry tart and the lemon muffin were both incredible. You can really taste the care that goes into every detail — they quite literally melt in your mouth. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delightful. The Turkish eggs were soft, creamy, and elevated by a dollop of homemade sour cream, served with a generous portion of fresh, warm, fluffy sourdough bread — perfect for dipping to the very last bite. The cheese sandwich was another hit, full of flavor and beautifully balanced. And the burrata tomato tartine? A standout! The tomatoes were deep red and clearly locally sourced — a feast for the eyes and the palate. Don’t leave without trying their tea selection. The oversized cups preserve the aroma and make for a relaxing, flavorful experience. Whether you’re meeting friends for coffee, looking for a laid-back brunch, or just want to indulge in top-quality food, Portobello hits the mark. A must-visit!
