The Central Market Hall in Budapest is a restored neogothic hall that offers a diverse shopping and dining experience. The ground floor features grocery produce, including Hungarian paprika, fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, meat, pastries, wine, chocolate, and jams. On the first floor, visitors can find souvenirs and various food stands offering a wide range of culinary delights. This three-story market is an ideal place to shop for local goods while enjoying lunch and picking up souvenirs.
The building was designed and built by Samu Pecz in 1897. The market offers a wide variety of stalls on three floors. The entrance gate has a neo-Gothic touch. A special architectural feature is the roof, which was renovated with colorful Zsolnay tiles from Pécs. The building is 10,000 square meters in size and is covered with a steel structure. During the Second World War, the market was heavily damaged. It was not until 1991 that a thorough renovation was undertaken, which restored it to its original splendor. The building was reopened in 1997, and in 1999 it was awarded the FIABCI Prix d'Excellence. The Central Market is still one of the city's most popular tourist attractions. Most of the stalls on the ground floor offer produce, meat, pastries, sweets, spices and spirits. You can find paprika spice, Tokaj wine, Túró Rudi, kolbász sausages and salamis there. On the second mezzanine floor there are restaurants and stalls selling tourist souvenirs. In the basement there are fishmongers, stalls with selected vegetables and a few specialized butchers.
Erik V — Google review
It is the largest indoor market in Budapest, located at one end of the famous Váci utca. It is located in a building whose facade is built in a neo-Gothic style, very pleasing to the eye and in harmony with the architecture of the neighboring buildings. Inside, on the ground floor you will find many shops with local cold cuts, dairy, wines and other products. In the basement is the fish market. You can reach the upper level by several stairs but also by an escalator, located in close proximity of the main entrance. Access to the shops on the first floor is along corridors that look like balconies. Here are numerous gift/souvenir shops but also the Fakánal Etterem restaurant, which, if you want to taste the flavors of traditional Hungarian food, you must definitely make a stop. We did and we did not regret it. At lunchtime, when we arrived, we had to be a little patient to get to the desired menu, but it was worth it. I treated myself with a goulash soup and a portion of stuffed cabbage rolls. Everything was very tasty. I consider this place to be recommended to visit.
Cri B — Google review
It’s a nice market full of both dry goods and groceries. A lot of fresh meat products and vegetables could be found here and with good quality. On the second floor, there’s a selection of souvenirs, as well as some food stalls selling local food.
Minnie L — Google review
The Great Market Hall (Nagyvásárcsarnok) is one of Budapest’s true gems—an impressive blend of history, culture, and vibrant daily life. From the moment you step inside, the soaring iron-and-glass architecture sets the tone, creating an atmosphere that feels both grand and authentically local. The ground floor is packed with fresh produce, meats, bakery items, and spices. The paprika displays alone are worth the visit, offering every variety you can imagine. Vendors are friendly and used to visitors, but the hall still feels like a working market rather than a tourist trap. Upstairs, you’ll find a lively collection of food stalls and traditional Hungarian dishes. It’s a fantastic place to try lángos, goulash, stuffed cabbage, or pastries at very reasonable prices. There are also plenty of souvenir stands if you’re looking for gifts like embroidered linens, wooden crafts, or local snacks. What makes the Great Market Hall special is its balance: you get a genuine snapshot of Hungarian everyday life while still having easy access to delicious food and great shopping. It can get busy, especially midday, but the energy is part of the charm. Overall, the Great Market Hall is a must-visit in Budapest—whether you’re there to eat, shop, or just soak in the atmosphere of one of the city’s most iconic buildings. This place is also next to lots of public transportation.
A2Z R — Google review
The Central Market Hall in Budapest is a wonderful place to explore if you want to experience local Hungarian culture in one spot. The market is housed inside a beautiful, well-organised historic building that feels lively but not chaotic. Everything is neatly arranged, and it’s easy to navigate through the different sections. You can find plenty of authentic Hungarian products here — from fresh local vegetables and spices to handmade crafts and souvenirs. There are also food stalls offering traditional dishes, so you can enjoy a snack or meal right inside the market while soaking in the atmosphere. The vendors are friendly and take pride in their products, making the experience feel genuine rather than touristy. There’s a good mix of local shoppers and visitors, which adds to its charm. The market also has clean, paid toilet facilities, which is convenient if you plan to spend more time browsing. Whether you’re looking for paprika, embroidered linens, or just a good place to people-watch, the Central Market Hall offers it all. It’s an enjoyable and colourful stop that captures the real spirit of Budapest in a single building.
AKASH U — Google review
Lots of fresh food of all varieties, including meat, vegetables and baked goods. Paprika of every flavor and size. Goodies to eat and souvenirs for the trip home. It can be very crowded so have some patience. Many of the vendors are closed on Sunday, especially the fresh food vendors.
Tom F — Google review
We went on a Sunday afternoon, therefore many vendors were closed. However, the building was still great to see and walk around. We did get food from the only vendor that was open serving hot food. We tried the Goulash and a variation on open sandwich with traditional sausages, cheese, roasted onions in a yummy bread.
AL2 — Google review
One of my favourite spots in town! If you visit Budapest you shouldn't miss this one! It has many sweet and savory traditional products to try! On the upper level they also have a big variety of souvenirs and restaurants.

Belvárosi Disznótoros, located in Budapest's downtown area, is a casual dining spot with a focus on meat. It was visited by the late Anthony Bourdain and features traditional Hungarian butchery and fresh food.
Everything was perfect. The hungarian food was amazing however the meals were a little bit salty for us. We had 2 beef gulash soups, a sausage and a duck. We really enjoyed the food. Also the place has no chairs which was also a downside for us
Egehan — Google review
The best blood and liver sausage I've ever tasted and trust me I've tried many. Mangalica steak was OK. Order the sausages and meat, do not take too many side dishes as we did. Place is simple, crowdy and perfect for a quick lunch. The service was super nice and helpful.
Klaudiusz M — Google review
Walked past this grill resto and it didn’t disappoint. Offers authentic grilled hungarian meat with side dishes including all sorts of salad and rice. The grilled pork and sausages with corn and potato salad were amazing.
Deinn V — Google review
Everything looked so good so I was unsure of what to get but I went with the duck & mashed potatoes and some pickled veggies. It was delicious! I loved the mashed potatoes! And the duck was tasty too. I had them heat up all my food in microwave as I like my food hot. The pickled beets was the best I have had in a long time and I topped it off with a draft local beer. My friend got the curry chicken, it was so so. Overall it was a good experience!
Kiesha M — Google review
The sausage was good. Duck is dry. Not really worth the money compared to more traditional Hungarian soup bars. A bit of a tourist trap
Pranay C — Google review
Amazing food, very friendly staff and the atmosphere was perfect.. Everything we tried was delicious and tasted authentic, definitely a must visit when you are int Budapest.
Steve R — Google review
You must try these sausages if you're ever in Budapest! The blood sausage was my favorite; it was absolutely delicious. The pickles were nothing special, but they were fine.
Massimo B — Google review
A wonderful authentic Hungarian food experience. Tried 3 variety of sausage, the darker too similar in black pudding Herby taste and textures. Great portions and tasty pork stew. We got a little confused at first how to order and what to order, but after watching some locals figured out what we needed to do. The till on the left for precooked and on the right to select meats they will cook then and their fresh from their butchers! All in all amazing experience and food. With intriguing art and farming ornaments around. Very much not vegan friendly 😄

Restaurant
Frici Papa is a budget-friendly restaurant in Budapest that offers classic Hungarian dishes. It's highly recommended to tourists seeking authentic Hungarian cuisine. The menu includes goulash, chicken paprikas, and rakott krumpli. The daily menu is a popular choice for an affordable and filling meal. One of the standout dishes is the beef broth soup with cloud-like dumplings, which provides a cozy dining experience.
Very tasty and flavorful food at very affordable prices. The portions are okay — they could be a bit larger, but at least the quality is good. I highly recommend it.
Xristina O — Google review
If you want to relive some communist era atmoshere and taste the best, the most original Hungarian dishes, this is your destination number 1. You must stand in a line, as there is a line of foreigners and locals. But don't worry-- it will not be an eternal wait, just till the next table is open. And inside: cool 1980s-90s music (George Michael' s "Faith" was on when we sat down), plastic checkered (oil) cloth, full plates of typical local dishes. The staff is kind, polite, jokeful and full of understanding towards picky customers. Congratulations Frici Papa, we had a blast 💖 ❤️ 💙
Gosia K — Google review
We had a great experience at Frici Papa! The goulash with nokedli was delicious - rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is cozy and authentic, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. A great spot to enjoy traditional Hungarian food in Budapest!
Nimrod H — Google review
one of our favourite meals in budapest :) traditional food at an affordable price we got the mushroom goulash and chicken paprika (both with papas fritas) the meal was very comforting as well especially in the cold weather you can also get chimney cake down the road afterwards (but they open at 2pm)
Chantelle C — Google review
Very affordable eats that is no frills. We got to dine up in the second floor, and was still taken care of. The paprika Chicken with noodles and the beef stew with rice were both delicious! It’s a very heavy dinner but so hearty. I would come back for the beef stew in a heart beat. There was a huge line when we left so go early!
Tiffany C — Google review
Very elegant restaurant, I really liked it. I ordered chicken paprikash, and was recommended to order some rice on side, so food was nice aswell. But, when paying the bill, I was told %10 increase was applied to paprikash’s price. Also , note that they don’t have exchange for Euro so if you’re a cash carrier like me, either try to obtain some Forint or try to leave no need for exchange.
Batuhan Ş — Google review
A place serving a collection of traditional Hungarian dishes. They also offer the menu of the day at an affordable price (2,500 HUF). The day menu is pretty basic, but it's still 3 courses and the atmosphere is really nice. I appreciated how kind every one of Frici Papa Team was. Would love to go back again :)

Restaurant
Kádár Étkezde is a small, budget-friendly restaurant that has been serving Jewish-style Hungarian soup and meat since the 1950s. Situated near Blaha in the lively Jewish district VII of Budapest, this eatery offers delicious traditional Hungarian and Jewish dishes, making it a perfect choice for an affordable dinner after exploring the Jewish quarter. The restaurant's interior has retained its authentic charm over the years, attracting local families and workers during lunchtime.
Delicious home-style food at very reasonable prices. Highly recommended the "meat soup with noodles" (basically Jewish chicken noodle soup but no meat) and the stuffed cabbage rolls. Keep in mind you have to pay for the sparkling water on the table but it was very cheap. Also waiters seem to rely on tips, you give them their tip directly when paying the bill - this is a CASH ONLY place.
Lesa G — Google review
Big queue outside; clearly a trendy spot. But inside it was unbearably hot, tables crammed, and everyone looked frustrated waiting for food. Heard complaints about undercooked chicken, wrong charges, and even got asked to share our tiny table with strangers. That’s when we left, before even ordering. Fun experience. Definitely not worth the hype.
Gabor N — Google review
Had a very nice experience. I went later in the afternoon and was quickly seated. If you walk in without a booking, be prepared to be seated at a table with other people though! Service was fast for me, and I had my soup minutes after ordering, and I didn’t have to wait long for the main either. The food was hearty and delicious, but it is standard Hungarian fare, so do not come in expecting to be blown off your feet. Overall I think it is worth trying for the classic flavours and wonderfully unique atmosphere.
-- — Google review
Feels like stepping into an old Budapest kitchen where time stopped in the best possible way. The tables are close, the air smells of paprika and comfort, and everyone seems to know exactly what they want. The food is honest and full of soul, the kind that doesn’t need decoration to impress. Service is brisk, prices fair, and everything tastes like tradition done right. Bring cash and an appetite; you’ll leave full and happy.
Axel — Google review
This is a must visit place if you are in the city. Still with its original interior serving "old school" dishes. Went back twice as I couldn't have enough)) our waitress was outstanding, exceptional customer service and her recommendation was spot on both of the days. The place is open only for lunch and can be very busy make sure that you get there around 12.00. I would recommend this over any restaurant around the area as the food is very tasty, portion size is great and value for money.
Csaba P — Google review
Went here on a food tour, we were served half portions but these were still quite large! The walls show all the famous Hungarians who have dined here and the same family still own and run the place. Great food and can see why it's so popular!
Becky C — Google review
The food was ok. The service was excellent the ambiance gave what you came for the 70-80's retro feeling. How it was before. Really good experience! Make sure you make a reservation for the weekend as there is a queue outside! Really worthwhile! And the prices are also retro so I guess great value for money!
Abel P — Google review
Hostile to speaking English- A Hungarian friend and I went today for lunch. (The food was fine, a bit salty for me, but it was ok.) We had a young red-haired waitress, who spoke fine English when we ordered our lunches, but when trying to order dessert, she only spoke in Hungarian to my friend, to which I asked her if she could please explain in English the dessert options. She rudely said to me, "this is a Hungarian restaurant, so I will speak Hungarian." Then when my Hungarian friend attempted to translate for me, the waitress very rudely admonished her in Hungarian for doing so! I can't understand why anyone like this would work in the service industry. The message very clearly received was, don't go if you're not Hungarian. Needless to say, we won't be coming back.

Gettó Gulyás is a unique and trendy stew place located near the Dohany Street Synagogue in Budapest. The restaurant offers 14 different types of stews, including unconventional options like gizzard and rooster testicle stew, alongside traditional Hungarian delicacies such as bean and mushroom stews. Gulyás, also known as the national dish of Hungary, is a must-try when visiting Budapest.
Our tour guide recommended this Hungarian restaurant. It is a 30+ min walk from our hotel but the quality of the food and the over all experience is absolutely worth it! We ordered the fish stew and a duck confit. The fish soup was delicious with chunks of catfish. The duck confit with apple/walnut sauce, accompanied by three artfully placed meshed potatoes, not only was the dish eye appealing but also was very tasty. The friendly bar tender lady also served us a complementary appetizer of duck liver pate with sourdough bread, that made us felt very welcomed. The atmosphere was very pleasant. The food quality was very good. Price was reasonable. Over all, a very good value. We love the restaurant and the food! We will definitely return the next time we are in Budapest.
Jeff C — Google review
We had such a great experience here! The Báránypaprikás and Borjúpaprikás were absolutely delicious. The meat was perfectly tender (lamb especially, veal a little bit less) and full of flavor. The food came out quickly, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. We booked our table online two days before, and everything went smoothly. Definitely recommend checking this place out!
Miran A — Google review
The food was absolutely fabulous! I will come here anytime I am back in Budapest. It is a restaurant I will stay in line anytime to get a table. The duck pate from the house was splendid too! The prices are super fair, I would say that I paid less than I expected for such wonderful dishes. Everything was perfect, I waited a very short time to get my food so I would say that I had a wonderful experience overall. I recommend this place 100%!

A true gem in Budapest! I had an exceptional experience at this restaurant — the kind that stays with you long after the meal is over. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The food was simply outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of rich, memorable flavors. It’s clear that a lot of care and skill go into the menu, and it shows in every bite. The atmosphere was just as impressive: cozy, stylish, and full of charm. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed dinner or a special night out, this place hits all the right notes. Overall, a fantastic dining experience. Truly a hidden gem in Budapest — highly recommended!

We found recommendations of this place on Internet and reading the customer reviews we decided to include it as one of the highlighted restaurants during our short vacation to Budapest. We had the Chicken Paprikash and the Beef Stew in Red Wine accompanied by a cucumber salad with sour cream and paprika dressing. DELICIOUS!! The environment and the restaurant were cozy and the staff is very professional. I recommend to book online as the place gets busy even on weekdays. Prices are very reasonable. Expect around 60€-70€ for a couple (starter, two mains, drinks and dessert). I definitely recommend this place for typical and delicious Hungarian food.

Lovely restaurant if you’re looking to try out local cuisine ❤️ we had a lovely dinner and it was really delicious! Highly recommend it! The Hungarian Goulash soup was sooo tasty 🤤 I would definitely visit again when I’m back in Budapest :)

Fantastic, best meal of the holiday. Food was amazing, atmosphere was good, cocktails were lovely. Good prices too. Based in the Jewish quarter so lots of lovely buildings around. Really recommend if you want to try a traditional Hungarian goulash

The service was good and the goulash was very tasty. The stuffed cabbage was a bit salty, but the lamb was incredibly tender. We didn’t like that they forgot to bring the pickles, but we didn’t let it ruin our meal. Overall, we still recommend this place.

The lively counters in the pedestrian passage create an inviting atmosphere for visitors to enjoy a laid-back lunch or dinner. With multiple street food trucks offering meat-based options as well as vegetarian-friendly dishes, there's something for everyone to savor.
Karaván Street Food is an essential stop in Budapest! This lively spot features numerous food trucks offering delicious street food. The place truly has a special, vibrant atmosphere, always bustling with cheerful people having a great time. We found the food to be absolutely excellent. It's the perfect mix of great eats and fantastic social energy. Highly recommended!

Awesome street carts festival vibes. Food is good, atmosphere even better. Unfortunately it is very overpriced and definitely a tourist trap. If you cant find anything else open at night, it is very well worth a visit as you'll find multiple types of food in one spot.

Great to come here as a tourist for lunch. There was lots of food options for us and plenty of seating. The atmosphere was good and the food venue is well decorated. The service system works well, as they give you a buzzer that will alarm when the food is ready to collect. I would come back here!
Jenny D — Google review
The avocado bowl was extremely tasty, slightly spicy, and the meat was crispy. The wings were also delicious, but the sauce wasn't really that great. The cocktails we drank were also good. The atmosphere was cool and fun. Overall, it was something different and I definitely recommend it. We will definitely be back!

I loved it here. I really recommend coming here. The food is really good. The people working here are very friendly and the place overall looks and feels great. I went to the first burger place on the right and ordered some sides. They were really good (I recommend their garlic sauce, it is really good). It is not very big but even for a drink or a small bite this place great

Tucked away in a small street, the atmosphere is lively and filled with joy. Food choices are mostly fried dishes, easy to grab. We ordered a dish with special request but the staff didn’t understand fully, they gave us the wrong order but it’s not serious. Came in the evening in late Nov so it was quite cold and there were limited seatings next to the fire poles. Toilets available.

Very nice Street Food alley, with loads of seating at the back. Nice cocktails (a little pricy), and good portions of food (the Nachos were amazing, full of vegetables!) The vibe was really nice - perfect for a fun date or a meeting with friends.

Street Food Karaván is a lively food court in Budapest, perfect for trying a variety of dishes. From Hungarian classics like lángos and goulash to burgers, vegan options, and sweet treats, there’s something for everyone. The drinks menu is just as good with refreshing beverages and tasty cocktails to enjoy alongside your meal. The outdoor seating and bustling atmosphere make it a fun spot to hang out, whether you’re with friends or exploring solo. A great place to enjoy good food, drinks, and the local vibe, and an ideal stop before heading to the nearby ruin bars.

Rosenstein Vendéglő is a renowned family-run restaurant in Budapest, offering an extensive menu of traditional Hungarian and Hungarian-Jewish dishes. Established in 1996 as a simple buffet, it has evolved into one of the city's most popular family-owned restaurants. The warm and welcoming ambiance makes diners feel like they are having a meal at their grandmother's house.
The food we had there was absolutely fantastic! Their chicken in paprika sauce is so tender and smooth. The atmosphere is so relaxed and welcoming. The sserver we had was lovely but you need to have a cheeky sense of humour. We absolutely loved it and we were so happy to find a traditional Hungarian restaurant with good food.

Food was quite good here. Goulash was average but the spicy chicken and beef dishes (I don’t know the Hungarian names) were really good. Meat was really tender and the spicy sauce was amazing. Would certainly come back given the chance
Allen L — Google review
A real family-style restaurant with long traditions, great service, and most importantly exceptional food. Unfortunately, Hungarian dishes are not the most photogenic (or my photos are lame), yet I can guarantee that the dishes served are both authentic Hungarian dishes (some with a Jewish twist), great in flavour, and very reasonably priced. Overall, great value for money.
József D — Google review
Had lunch at Rosenstein Vendéglő, a long-standing family restaurant known for Hungarian classics and Ashkenazi Jewish dishes done with care. I had one of the chef’s offer dishes — pan-fried goose foie gras in Tokaji sauce — which was rich, silky, and beautifully balanced. Their goulash was excellent too, comforting and full of depth. What surprised me most though was the sourdough bread: crusty, airy, and easily one of the best I’ve had in a long time (and I say that as someone who takes sourdough seriously). It was definitely a memorable meal in Budapest.

I loved everything I eat here. The goulash soup is best I had in town. The Jewish cake was traditional and delightful. The service was professional. They have a huge menu variety and I will definitely come back again.

Beautiful authentic Hungarian restaurant with a charming atmosphere. Received a recommendation from a local friend and we were not disappointed. The menu was extensive and everything we ordered tasted incredible. Professional, prompt service and very reasonably priced for such a good meal - would recommend to anyone.

The food didn't taste so fantastic for us but it might just be what we ordered. The potato croquettes was very good though. I also liked the desserts. The reservation list was a bit of a mess but might be due to the language barrier. The service could be better but wasn't bad. The place is clean and cozy.

We ate here based on the recommendation of a local guy my friend met in the train and I’d say that we love our choice of food and it was worth the commute all the way from Visegrad. Didn’t had the photo but we also ordered a gundel pancake as per his recommendation.

Retro Lángos Budapest is a popular walk-up joint located near the Arany Janos Square Metro Stop in downtown Budapest. It offers authentic Hungarian lángos, a fried flatbread, served with various toppings. The menu includes traditional options like cheese and sour cream as well as more unique choices such as ham and cheese-filled lángos. This spot is known for its extensive selection of toppings, but many recommend trying the classic combination of sour cream, cheese, and roasted onion.
This was a great place to eat close to our hotel. We had walked past multiple times to see lines out the door for the traditional Hungarian food. The wait was very short and food came quickly. It was fresh and delicious. Extremely well priced and great portions. Staff were very friendly and decor was fun. I noticed there were multiple locations but if you pass by one and you’re hungry, stop in. It’s well worth it.

I honestly did not expect to find gluten-free & vegan langos in Budapest, but this restaurant made it possible even for people with food intolerancies. That is awesome. There is enough chairs to sit inside or outside, no need to book a reservation. This place is very popular, but staff are working really fast. Standard langos is prepared in 2-3 minutes, for gluten-free langos I had to wait around 10 minutes, but it was completely fine for me. The portion is quite generous, I was really full after eating it. Taste was awesome, just like regular langos although this was vegan & gluten-free. Next time I will just ask for more garlic, otherwise it was simply perfect. I know where to stop next time when I am in Budapest.

We got the chilli con carne lángos. It was absolutely amazing. If you're looking to try authentic Hungarian street food in Budapest, Retro Lángos is a must-visit. Located centrally on Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street, this fast-casual eatery has earned its reputation as one of the city’s top spots for lángos, a deep-fried flatbread traditionally topped with sour cream and cheese. Retro Lángos offers over 30 varieties of lángos, including: Traditional Hungarian-style Vegetarian and vegan options Gluten-free and lactose-free versions Popular choices include the classic sour cream and cheese combo, as well as more adventurous toppings like bacon, goulash, and even dessert-style lángos. The vegan versions are clearly labeled and thoughtfully prepared, with plant-based cheese and sour cream. The vibe is casual and retro-themed, with both indoor and outdoor seating. While the place can get crowded, especially during peak hours, the service is fast and friendly, and the staff are knowledgeable about dietary restrictions. The restaurant is dog-friendly and offers takeaway, making it convenient for both sit-down meals and quick bites. Prices are very reasonable, especially considering the generous portion sizes. Most dishes range from €3 to €7, making it an affordable way to enjoy traditional Hungarian flavors. It’s a great spot for lunch, dinner, or even a late-night snack.

LOVED the place, so budget friendly, fast, tasty AND clean! For 3 people we paid a total of 38€ (with drinks!) I recommend the Langos with ham and rucolla and the one with chicken tzatziki! Also, for drinks I recommend the Dreher Meggy (has a sweet cherry taste). Would definitely come here again and recommend this place to a friend visiting Budapest :)

We were told to try the Langos while in Budapest. We chose Retro for a combination of convenience and after searching other nearby restaurants for Langos. We were thinking it would be sit down type restaurant, but you order your Langos at one counter, and your drink at another, which was fine. The food came out quick, afterall, the Langos can be fried/prepared fairly quickly and then topped with your favorites. We enjoyed what we had. Surprised these haven't been introduced here in the states.

Good experience and reasonable priced Was super excited to try a traditional Hungarian meal! The staff were really attentive - I am celiac and they reassured me they use a separate fryer and avoid all cross contamination as much as possible! And langos is soooooo delicious, we had the Hungarian and rustic. And it was delicious. It’s a quick and easy option for food! And even had gluten free beer

Very casual, friendly atmosphere with helpful staff. I never try Langos before but instantly fell in love with this rich taste of fried dough, super yummy!!😋😍 If you are small eater, maybe you want to share with someone? Looks small but quite a filling though. They are very popular and busy so if you wish to relax and spend time, I recommend to sit outside (If the weather is good).

Very popular place which means queueing for some time & also not knowing if there will be a seat/table available after paying (especially if travelling solo). The risk was worth it… the vegan and gluten-free langos was incredible: soft, super tasty & filling. Staff were friendly & kindly spoke English. I also heard some Spanish and Italian being spoken by staff. Highly recommend!

Hummus Bar is a popular chain of restaurants located throughout Budapest, offering a diverse menu of fresh and delicious dishes. While they are not exclusively vegetarian or vegan, they provide plenty of options for those dietary preferences. Their menu features quick pita breads, flavorful falafels, and various hummus plates. One standout item is the shakshuka available in classic tomato-and-pepper or green versions with spinach and courgettes.
We ordered Salad Hummus and Sabich Hummus with Arab salad. Spent 8070 Ft. Food was very tasty and fresh. I didn’t expect anything special but it was really good! Fast ready and super tasty. For sure we will come back again.

We went here after seeing the high Google ratings but were completely disappointed. We specially visited to try Mediterranean food, but it turned out to be a terrible experience. We ordered the hummus falafel bowl — easily the worst one I’ve ever had. The pita bread was cold, hard, and not at all fresh. The food lacked flavor and authenticity, and we couldn’t even finish our meal. The location isn’t great either. We left hungry and irritated — overall, the worst experience and a total waste of money.

Nice place with nice and healthy menu options with vegetarian and non vegetarian items. Located within a food court like premises surrounded by other couple of bit high end eateries near by but still stands out. Economical and tasty, their falafels are awesome and so is their ‘hummus complete’ combo! Recommend and will visit again during my stay in Budapest!

Very good food. Tabouleh is not actually tabouleh, is a salad with tomato, cucumber, onion & parsley, but overall was delicious

Lángos Land is a popular spot in Budapest, particularly among locals. It's located on the top floor of Feny Street Market in Buda and offers a charmingly unpretentious atmosphere. The stall is known for serving what many consider to be the best lángos in Budapest. Customers can enjoy traditional lángos flatbread with various toppings or opt for a folded version filled with traditional Hungarian sausage.
No trip to Hungary would be complete without eating some Lángos, a classic Hungarian fried bread sold everywhere by street carts and vendors. The Lángos can be topped with a variety of ingredients such as cheese or sour cream, but is usually eaten as is. Fluffy and light, it is made from yeasted dough and often with additional mashed potatoes to make krumplis lángos (Potato Lángos). Another option worth trying is stuffed Lángos! If you're shopping around Fény Street Market, Langos Land is a well known stall on the top floor of the farmer's market, offering generously sized, delicious and affordable Lángos and Melegszendvics (open faced sandwiches)!

What can I say about my experience here? I’ve been coming here for nearly five years now to enjoy their lángos. It’s absolutely fantastic every single time — always fresh, delicious, and made with truly great dough. There has never been a lángos here that I wouldn’t happily order again. It’s a wonderful experience, and I love visiting them, whether in the morning or the afternoon. Any time of day, it’s worth the journey. If there’s one thing guests visiting Hungary should try, it’s definitely this. This is authentic lángos at its best. And it’s not overpriced, either. I sincerely hope these lads will keep serving us for many years to come. They work together brilliantly, and it’s lovely to see the camaraderie among them. Many thanks — and I look forward to coming back again and again!

Absolutely iconic langos. Crispy yet soft on the inside, perfect amount of toppings... Everything was great. Keep in mind the place is a bit difficult to find with GPS. It's on the top floor.

This is the 1st langos I have, so I have no comparisons, but I found this very good. It was crispy on the outside but not oily. The inside was light, fluffy and chewy. The vendor was generous with the cheese. and it was huge! best for 2 pax to share. Definitely must try! The shop is located on the 2nd floor.

That was the best langos in the perspective of taste price ratio. I think langos should be a simple dish with the simple prices and this place makes exactly that. Toppings were generous langos was a little bit thick but i think thats not a problem and lastly sauaage was nice. We didnt find here at first you should go top floor of the market place in the corner.

A nice and friendly place to enjoy some home cooked food. Food: 5/5 - the meat filled crepes and chicken paprika are worth trying. Portions come in either big or small. I enjoyed the food. I felt like it was grandma’s home cooking. I had a sour cherry lemonade which was tasty. I like that cute atmosphere there. This is family business, that's why they work only from 10 am till 4 pm on weekdays. On weekends, they're closed. Girl, who took our order, was very polite. When I ordered fried chicken breast with rice, I asked her for sauce, as my dish was, honestly, a little bit dry, and eventually, she brought it to my whole family for free.

Fantastic eatery that has probably not changed for 50 years and is all the better for it. Very small so only has room for about five tables,it’s like being in your nans front room and is very much like some of the milk bars you get in other ex- communist countries but is very cheap and the portions large. No hassle from the staff they just let you get on with it. £15 for the two of us with a coke each including tip. Only open at lunchtime and though not sure I think it’s cash only. Much recommended.

This was one of our favourite finds in Budapest. Super quaint little lunch place with excellent food, service and prices. I had Brasov chicken roast (Csirke brassói) which was a very tasty mix of chicken and potatoes and my wife had Matra-style fried pork cutlet with rice (Mátrai borzaska rizzsel) which is a pork chop that is covered in shredded potatoes and then deep fried. It was absolutely delicious. The setting is a quaint little ground floor eatery with about 6 tables. Very warm and cosy with a cheerful greeting and fast efficient service. Lots of happy people here. It is off the beaten path but public transit is so good here that getting there was no problem. The server spoke very good English and they have an english menu on their website. Hello lovely people of Mazel tov restaurant. I am writing to you from a small Croatian town of Vinkovci. We visited Budapest last week and had a pleasure of dinning in your amazing restaurant. We had diy shawarma sandwich, chicken shawarma plate and shakshuka. Everything was very tasty. We discovered some new flavors that we don't normaly have in Croatia so it was amazing experience. For me it was particularly sweet potato chips and mt beetroot salad. Now we do eat sweet potato and beetroot in Croatia, but those spices.. Omg that was something different. Would it be possible to kindly share the secret with me? What spices do you use for sweet potato chips and how do you make that beetroot salad? I am asking for personal consumption and family home cooking. I am not going to sell your secrets away 🙂 In hope of visiting Budapest & Mazel tov some day soon again, I send you greetings from Croatia Maja Pavlović Vinkovci

Tried but failed on a walk in, so I booked for lunch the next day. I was first into the restaurant which is beautiful. Within an hour it was full. There a lots of servers so no wonder the service is top notch. All the staff were lovely and chatted in English too. I had a passion fruit and ginger house Lemonade, lovely, cool and fresh. Exactly what my body needed after the previous nights palinka. Then, soul food. The Yemen chicken soup, finest comfort food there is in my book. A tad salty but still lovely. Pastrami sandwich was my main, superb if not the most expensive I have ever eaten. Sadly it came with sweet potato fries, which I detest. Lashings of meat and buttery bread with a tangy cabbage and a fruity dip. Very filling. Finally a double espresso to finish. Everything was top quality from the ingredients to the service. Plates are generous and looking around all the other diners enjoyed it too.

My food was great. Really nice shakshuka, rich flavours and a great hummus dish to start. My partners beef kebab was a little bit too rare. No problem though. Atmosphere is very chilled, great vibes and music. Service was very nice too, I have allergies and the staff were very attentive. Possibly on the expensive side but this was a special meal so we didn’t mind.
Ruby B — Google review
Food was great, service was trash. Honestly, I saw the reviews + photos, and was so excited to eat here. We were sat immediately and the atmosphere is amazing. Unfortunately, we had to wave someone over to take our orders. By that time, we put in drinks, mezze and main course. Within the next ten minutes, our drinks and mezze came but we didn’t see our waiter again. He disappeared. After 50+ minutes (I know because I took these photos), we had to ask someone about our food. Then five minutes later, we asked another person. Then 10 minutes later, we got our food finally. Unfortunately, because we are from out of town, we had a day planned and other things to do. While this just made us late The food was fresh four out of five. It was really disappointing to be so eager for the food and to have just a really poor experience overall.

I had a great experience at Mazel Tov in Budapest. I ordered the shakshuka and it was delicious, super flavorful and perfectly cooked. The guy who took care of my table, Peter, was also wonderful. He even spoke some Spanish, and I really appreciated the effort he made. We understood each other perfectly. The space itself is also really cute and charming. Overall, a lovely place with tasty food and great service!

Best food and service of our week in Budapest, our server was attentive and friendly and the building is absolutely beautiful. We’ve ordered the olives, the whipped feta, the chicken sous vide and the shawarma - all of which were generous portions and cooked beautifully. My only slight grumble was that our table was right next to the toilets so we had the constant flapping of the saloon doors, handrier noise and frequent views of the inside of the male toilet stalls - which I would have minded less if we had been squeezed in but we booked a good few days in advance. All in all though I would recommend anyone go to Mazel Tov, it was a real highlight of our trip.

Szimpla Kert is a must-visit in Budapest, known for being one of the oldest and most famous ruin bars in the city. Located in the Jewish quarter, this huge pub is filled with an eclectic mix of old items and even features a disused Trabant car. The building itself is impressive, adorned with diverse objects hanging from walls and ceilings. Visitors can enjoy live music, food, a market area, and a garden within its alternative decor.
Amazing open-air experience! This place is absolutely fantastic – an open patio with multiple bars, each offering something unique. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed, perfect for any occasion. The cocktails are simply outstanding – creative, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. A must-visit spot if you love great drinks and an amazing vibe!

Such a unique place - as a tourist you HAVE to go. Buzzing place at night but particularly I recommend going during the day. You get to see how great this place is and everything it has. Day drinking in a ruin bar will easily become the highlight.
Rituja R — Google review
I don’t go to bars, so I haven’t experienced Szimpla Kert at night, but visiting during the Sunday market was really nice! From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., local producers offer a wide range of fresh and artisanal products, including breads, cheeses, honey, jams, yogurts, pasta, and traditional Hungarian sweets. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and entry is free—perfect for anyone wanting to explore the local culture in an authentic way.
Luana B — Google review
A wild, unforgettable experience, Budapest’s ruin bar culture at its best. Szimpla Kert is unlike any bar I’ve ever visited. Located in the heart of the Jewish Quarter, it’s the original ruin bar, a concept born from transforming abandoned buildings into eclectic, artsy nightlife spaces. The place is a visual overload: mismatched furniture, bathtubs as seats, graffiti-covered walls, and quirky installations everywhere you look. I went once at night. Night time, , is when Szimpla comes alive: live music, DJs, and a buzzing crowd of locals and tourists. It’s loud, chaotic, and absolutely fun. Drinks are reasonably priced for a tourist hotspot, and they have a good selection of local craft beers (try the Budapest Lager) and cocktails. The staff were friendly, and the vibe was welcoming despite the crowds. Tips: Go early if you want to explore the space and take photos. At night, expect crowds—especially on weekends. Would I go back? Definitely. Szimpla Kert is more than a bar, it’s a cultural experience and a must-see if you’re in Budapest.

Such a cool and new experience for me! I went both day and night, and they both had two very different vibes. I would recommend getting a coffee in the morning to explore the flea market as well and at night visiting around 7-8pm to avoid the queue (weekend) and grabbing a cherry ale. The cherry ale was lovely and the interior blew my mind. Strongly recommend to visit!

On Sunday morning, the same space amazingly transforms into a calm, charming Farmer's Market, complete with high-quality live cover music. The atmosphere in both modes is completely different and absolutely mesmerizing. In short: It’s a genius idea for dual space utilization! A must-visit!

Szimpla Kert is one of those places you don’t just visit, you experience. It’s a mix of chaos and charm that somehow works perfectly. The decor feels like a museum of randomness, with old bikes hanging from the ceiling, mismatched furniture, neon lights, and murals everywhere. The atmosphere is unbeatable, especially in the evening lively but relaxed, full of both locals and travelers. The drinks are fairly priced, the music is always on point, and the whole place feels like the heart of Budapest’s nightlife. If you want something authentic, creative, and slightly crazy, this is it. A must-visit.

Café Kör is a traditional Hungarian restaurant located in Budapest, offering a warm and inviting dining room with vaulted ceilings. The restaurant is known for its wide range of Hungarian dishes, executed to a high standard and not just catering to tourists and expats. Reservations are highly recommended during the tourist season. The cozy atmosphere takes diners back to pre-war Budapest with its classic décor featuring bentwood Thonet chairs and carpeted floors.
we went there during our holidays a two months ago, we were 8 and managed to book in the same day we wanted to go. we arrive in a central location so easy to reach, the place has such authentic and comfy vibe. professional staff, and not so long to wait even if the restaurant was almost full. the food was amazing, i had no words to describe it. really recommended!

We immediately found a table when we arrived, and the staff member who attended to us was very kind and attentive. I wanted to try the duck, and it was both delicious and filling with its large portions. The service was quick. The only problem was that a strong smell of food was coming from the ventilation window downstairs, which was quite disturbing for us.

Close to the Basilica. Tried Hungarian dishes here for the first time. Their goulash is delicious. My favorite was part of their lunch menu, the oven baked duck leg. Servings were generous. They have limited non-alcoholic drinks. We ordered lemon iced tea and house-made iced tea. Both served in big glasses. Service was great and they also have clean toilets.

The restaurant has a really cozy atmosphere. They have both a standard menu and a special one with recommendations, handwritten on posters. I ordered the foie gras, and they served complimentary bread — a really good ciabatta. The foie gras was absolutely amazing! So fragrant and rich, with a perfect amount of fat, and the portion was quite generous. The potato slices were also cooked just right. I was totally satisfied — the best foie gras I’ve had in Budapest!

We made a reservation for six people for dinner and were seated at our table without any issues upon arrival. They have a standard menu as well as a daily/weekly specials menu displayed on the wall (also available in English). At our table, we ordered the duck, the goose leg, and the pan-fried foie gras. The foie gras was especially outstanding — both in flavor and in portion size. The duck main course was good, though compared to other places I’ve tried, it felt slightly overcooked. The goose leg, on the other hand, was excellent: perfectly crispy on the outside and very flavorful. One detail that caught my attention was that in the photos I had seen before, a single portion appeared to come with two goose legs served on the same plate, whereas ours came with only one. The dishes arrived quite quickly. The atmosphere inside was calm, though in my opinion a bit dim and on the darker side.

Really delicious food — even though it’s in a tourist area, I can assure you it’s absolutely worth it. If you’re coming for great food, this is your place! It doesn’t have a fancy atmosphere or special lighting, but that means nothing once you taste the food. I also saw the owner personally making sure everything was running well, which is always wonderful to see. Thank you for keeping such high-quality food and standards!

my first time trying out classic Hungarian food! i had a salad and the well-known goulash with croquettes, and the food didn’t disappoint one bit. they actually made a mistake with my salad, as i only ordered a fresh mixed salad but they brought me a fish salad; however they, they only charged me the original mixed salad price. i came here during dinner time on a thursday night but they were able to give me a table right away. the staffs were busy but they were friendly and attentive. would recommend this to others.

I first came here in 1996 with my sister who was living in Budapest. I returned in 2018, sent numerous friends here and just returned again in Nov 2025. Each time my meals were delicious and authentic, very much like what my Hungarian mother made. Restaurants in Budapest have become outrageously expensive, Cafe Kor still has reasonable prices. Do not miss coming here! 🇭🇺❤️🌶️

Hungarian restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled on a quaint cobblestone street within the enchanting World Heritage site of Buda Castle, Pest-Buda Bistro has been delighting diners for over five decades. Housed in a historic building dating back to 1696, this charming eatery is led by Roy Zsidai and features Chef Lajos Lutz at the helm, who brings his expertise from the renowned Gundel Restaurant. The bistro offers an authentic taste of traditional Hungarian cuisine, celebrating flavors that have evolved over centuries.
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. It was peaceful and clean, tucked away from the crowds—just the kind of atmosphere I was looking for. I truly enjoyed a traditional Hungarian dessert, savoring each bite while listening to the distant hum of the city. It’s one of the few truly positive memories I have from my time in Hungary. I’ll definitely come back again. Many thanks to Martin!

Great food, kind staff, beautiful and cozy place! If you are visiting Matthias Church, this is an excellent stop not too close to the crowds but still incredibly close to everything. As always, prioritize local cuisine! Try the best they have to offer! If you are not willing to experience this fundamental part of a country’s culture, don’t worry, they have plenty of options for unadventurous guests! I was not very hungry and they suggested the classic fish soup, to which I added a salad and a side of their delicious homemade bread! Enjoy this food, place, and atmosphere!

I live in Miami, USA. Travel all over Europe and beyond. If you are a solo traveler, I don’t recommend this restaurant. Never being bounced this way. I actually congratulate attendant as he was honest and he said “ we only have table for four” and he pointed me out to other restaurant in the area. From business point of view more people, more money. I would do the same if I had a restaurant 😅. A couple after me were allowed to go in. I went to Pierrot restaurant down the street and left my money there. I have a fast metabolism so I eat like for two people. It is what it is. It was around 2 pm. Good luck solo travelers.

I strongly do not recommend this restaurant. My experience there was extremely disappointing. The portions were tiny, and the main waiter was rude, constantly more focused on making us leave quickly or order more than providing proper service.During our visit, a couple arrived and was told that if they wanted coffee, they couldn’t sit alone because all tables were reserved. This was clearly false, as only three tables were occupied, and it seemed the staff simply made this up to refuse service. After paying the bill, it started raining heavily. We stood under the restaurant’s umbrella, but the main waiter walked around with a look that clearly suggested we should leave immediately. He didn’t approach us himself—instead, he instructed the second waiter to start clearing tables and even said he needed to close the umbrella. Only at the very end did he come over, in an angry tone, telling us to leave so he could close the umbrella. He could have shown some basic human decency, especially in such heavy rain, but chose to act rude and impatient instead. The staff’s behavior was completely unacceptable. The attitude toward customers was dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I strongly advise against visiting this place—you will likely leave frustrated and mistreated.

We stopped by for a snack and a drink after exploring the Buda Castle area. We received a very warm welcome and were seated right away. The wait staff were all really friendly and attentive. We ordered a large bottle of water, which came with lemon slices and ice—refreshing! The beer and wine were enjoyable. The Hungarian Bistro Plate for two was exactly what we needed. It was served cold and included a variety of meats, spreads, pickles, and bread—all delicious. The restaurant was nice and clean, including the bathrooms. I’d definitely recommend stopping in for a meal if you’re nearby!

A lunch time meal. Two mature adults on holiday. we had the Breaded fried chicken and the paprika chicken. Bearded chicken was fab. Chips were good...Paprika chicken maybe not so good if I was being picky. Stella beer was great as was the local wine..staff were excellent..cost was a very reasonable just over €70. Just to finally add I very very rarely give a 5 star

2 Spaghi - Fresh Pasta Bar is a lively pasta-lasagne place located at the Gozsdu Courtyard in Budapest. The Italian owners learned their craft from their grandmothers, ensuring that the pastas are made just like in Italy. Guests can choose from a variety of freshly made pastas displayed at the counter and pair them with creamy sauces on the spot or order them by gram to cook at home.
The pasta and sauce are freshly made and very delicious. You can choose your own sauce and types of pasta. I chose the black truffle and ricotta ravioli with tomato sauce, and they matched perfectly. It could be regarded as the best ravioli I have ever had. The tiramisu dessert is also good and has a fluffy and creamy texture.

My friends found this place for pasta. You choose your noodle and then the sauce. Serving size is generous. The noodles were fresh. The mushroom sauce and vegetable sauce were ok, we wanted to experiment and not get a red sauce. The canolo was a tad sweeter than I prefer.
Chelle T — Google review
Great pasta and very well served (individual portions easily serve 2 people if you are not very hungry). The mushroom pasta was just amazing. The place is kinda small with a few tables, overall quiet and clean. You can choose from their fresh pastas at the counter and a source. Everything was nice and fresh. The place gets crowded easily so you need to go early.

This was fine. The wild mushrooms in my pasta seemed like they came from a can and didn't taste fresh. The ravioli was much better. The pasta itself tasted great!

Delicious pasta place The noodles were very chewy and tangy, definitely a well made pasta. I got the truffle and ricotta, and it was a match made in heaven with the four cheese sauce. Topped with a bit of cheese and pepper, it was an amazing meal. The wine was also a good touch to the meal, if I lived in Budapest I would visit more often!

The menu includes paprika and blood sausage, grilled pork chop, wild boar stew, and schnitzel. Visitors can also try unique Hungarian delicacies like blood sausage. Despite the standing eating style, the flavorful and satisfying food makes it worth a visit.
We came here for the sausages and it was very delicious. Best sausages in Budapest for sure. Friendly service, wide selection of different meats and salats and budget friendly prices. We will come again!

1) 🌭 Blood Sausage [Véres hurka] (2/5) Light on seasoning, so the flavor didn’t really come through. The inside was dry and crumbly. 2)🥬 Pickled Cabbage (2/5) Soft, limp texture with a sourness that’s a bit too strong. Still useful as a palate cleanser between bites of sausage and mashed potato. 3) 🥔 Mashed Potato (4.5/5) Creamy and fluffy, seasoned with paprika and onion for a gentle sweet, savory taste. Strongly recommended. 🤝 Service [1/5] Some staff have limited English and can be quite rude with non-locals.

I went here to get a taste of local food. We had duck, cabbage, chicken etc. Ordering was not a good experience. The lady seemed stressed and impatient which was odd as it was empty and we had waited patiently. The duck was tough and lacked flavour. It was all dry. We did not enjoy the food or service. £26.10

Everything we tried is good here. I suppose this is a "budget" option for Budapest. The Goulash soup is great, flavored with sweet paprika and generously portioned with a lot of beef, it's got the sweet and salty Hungarian flavor that I love. The red sausage is good but we were not brave enough to try the blood or liver sausages (black). Red cabbage is to die for! Fresh potato chips are good and we spent about 15 euros per person which seems a bit pricey for the not so sophisticated (but very tasty) food. But I guess that is somewhat cheap for Budapest. Credit cards accepted. Smiling servers not included.

Tried few local sausages here with cabbage and bread. There is no English menu and the staff was not so friendly with us. But the food was good.

If you're in Buda and looking for a satisfying lunch, Buja Disznó(k) is the place to be! Nestled within the bustling Feny utca market, this fast-casual eatery specializes in mouthwatering offal dishes and massive schnitzels. Their signature dish, beuschel—sour lungs served with bread dumplings—is a must-try, alongside tender roasted pork liver and crispy fried duck liver.
The food here amazed us! While lung and duck liver might not be for everyone, give them a try, and you might just change your mind! Everything was perfectly prepared, with great texture and flavor. The fried liver was light and not greasy at all, and the lung... wow, just amazing. They announce the order numbers in Hungarian, but the cashier was kind enough to help us with the pronunciation of our number. Highly recommended!
Lupinixio — Google review
This restaurant on the first floor of the market was a real gem! We ordered the breaded chicken and fried cheese—both were excellent. The breading was perfectly crispy, the portions were huge for the price, and unlike some other reviews mentioned, the chicken was super juicy and not dry at all! The side dish was not to our taste but the overall experience made up for it. The owner was incredibly friendly, took the time to chat with us, and gave great recommendations. Definitely worth a stop before exploring the market!

As others have said, the pork schnitzel is huge, roughly the size of a keyboard. It is freshly deep fried on order placement, to ensure it is at its best when served. It's tender and delicious. The potato salad is cold and delicious as well. The fried pork ear is also very good, with sticky pork skin melting in your mouth. You get two pieces of ear with tartar sauce and potato salad. Overall we liked the schnitzel better but both should be tried if you have the stomach. They do help you put leftover in takeaway box if you can't finish. Highly recommended! In fact we tried three times to get in because it's been closed for 4 days during easter holidays. But it is well worth the effort!

The best Schnizel in Budapest. The restaurant is located inside the 2nd district market. It is a little pricey however you do get the quality you are paying for. The soup and schnizel are fantastic and on Saturdays they have the BEST crispy roasted pork knuckle Ive ever had. The portions are HUGE and can easily be split by 2 and still be a full meal. They have a good selection of wine and their potatoe and beet salads are also spectacular! Parking is a pain but it is a 1 minute walk from Szel Kalman square where Metro 2 has a stop and a bunch of trams and buses.

Budapest Bagel has been serving up delectable baked rolls and reliable sandwiches with a wide array of flavor combinations for a decade. With locations in Pest and Buda, most bagels fall within the HUF 2,500 price range, including the popular duck liver pate and pear creation. These substantial sandwiches make for a satisfying lunch or convenient takeaway option.
This is the best bagel I’ve ever had yummmm it was SO good. We went for breakfast/brunch at 10am and there was no wait. Me and my bf both got the Brie-bacon and it was amazing! They offer fritz kola too. Such a cute spot

The bagel itself was very very nice. I got the 6 min poached egg which was well worth the wait. Fairly small establishment but enough outdoor seating where you can also wait after you order and get your beeper. Friendly staff, good coffee! Great location. Minus 1 star for disrespectful pigeons.

This is a great spot to grab a quick lunch whilst exploring the city. The bread was soft with a crunchy exterior; all wrapped in brown paper. We tried the blue cheese/pear and the mortadella/tomato. The bagels were made very speedily with friendly staff behind the counter. There were lots of interesting flavour combinations which we wanted to try and we perched on the benches outside whilst enjoying our lunch. Would definitely go back!

Animal cruelty! This happend in August. It was morning, around 9. There were no guests at this time sitting outside but two dumb employees of Budapest Bagel decided that it was good idea to use water guns on pigeons (pink ones in the photo)!!! As I said there were no guests present at that time so it wasn’t like pigeons were disturbing anyone. Pigeons were just walking around the tables and picking up crumbs from the ground. But dumb&dumber were spraying them for no reason. After they shifted their focus on passing walker and squirted water at them! Shame on you Budapest Bagel!!!!! 😡😡😡😡

“Extremely Rude Staff and Poor Customer Service” I had a very unpleasant experience at this shop. When I paid for the bread I bought, the saleswoman didn’t even bother to say thank you—she just threw the receipt at me and walked off. I was shocked by the level of rudeness. Then, when I took a plastic bag to cover the bread, the owner got upset and complained that the bag costs money, even though nothing was clearly stated. I gave him a look of disbelief, and only then did he back down. This kind of attitude towards paying customers is unacceptable. Basic manners and respect go a long way—unfortunately, this place seems to lack both. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Recently, I moved to Budapest, and my favorite bakery to go to is this one. However, my favorite part is interacting with the lovely people who work there - one blond and one brunette lady.

The chocolate csiga is a decent price compared to other bakeries and has a pretty presentation. Atmosphere also seems really nice. However, the csiga did not have much of a chocolate taste and the texture was not memorable, so I don't think I will be returning to buy any more pastries for takeaway. Addendum: The csiga inspired me to try the SPAR csiga, as I wanted to see how much worse grocery store csiga could be, since it was only half the price, and I was pleasantly surprised!! I actually like the SPAR csiga better 💁🏻‍♀️

Fast food restaurant
Langos Papi' is a popular Hungarian street food spot known for its traditional dish called Langos. This fried bread dough treat is made with a basic dough of water (or milk), yeast, flour, and salt, resulting in a light and airy texture. The dish is typically served with various toppings such as cheese, garlic, and sour cream. Despite its humble setting with minimal seating outdoors, the food is highly praised for its delicious flavors and quick service.
Today I had a great lángos here. The dough was crunchy and tasty, a well-balanced sour cream and cheese topping, and just the right amount of garlic. Pricing is fair, I will come back again and I would definitely recommend this place based on my experience so far. There are tables and benches outside, pigeons were a little bit disturbing. You can pay by card, of course!
Roland B — Google review
The langos are huge, you can easily share one between two people. Unfortunately they are served on a piece of paper so they dont stay warm for long. Also there are a lot of pigeons trying to get to your food - didnt feel very hygienic. It is still tasty but you dont need to make a special trip just to visit this particular store.
Mirae L — Google review
This is by far the best lángos in Budapest! The dough is perfectly fried, light, and flavorful, and the toppings are absolutely delicious. We came here several times during our trip because it was just that good. The service was also wonderful, super friendly and accommodating. On our last visit, my husband and I wanted to share one lángos, half with garlic and half with garlic and cheese, and they were happy to make it just like that and even offered to cut it for us. Such a great experience all around!

Came a few times when they were on lunch break so finally we were able to try it. First off the staff was really friendly, she was so nice explaining to us what’s the best. We got one fully loaded and one garlic Langos. Very heavy garlic flavor but it was tasty! Decided to take away since the benches were bombarded with pigeons.

I've never had a langos before but it's like a dive bar style pizza and it was amazing! So glad I tried it. I got the traditional one, garlic, sour cream and cheese. It was really good! Not much seating in front so if it's busy, good luck finding a place to sit...

Rim Thanonh Thai Food is a cozy, unpretentious restaurant located on the outskirts of Budapest's lively party district. Highly recommended! There are quite a few decent Thai restaurants in Budapest, but this one definitely stands out as the best in my opinion.

Really amazing Thai food! Very good value for money. It’s just a small takeaway spot with 6 tables inside so it gets quite busy. We got there just after 7 and it was empty but full by the time we left. The noodle soup was excellent. The stir fry was pretty good and we also had some spring rolls. There got bottle of soft drinks and beer. Very authentic, you can see them cooking the food in front of you.

The other reviews make the food sound life-changing. I would say it is quite good but not to that level. This is some of the sweetest Thai food I’ve ever eaten. If you are not a fan of your food being that sweet, I would suggest you look for another place. That aside, the food was quite good. It is a very small restaurant, so I would not come if you are in a big group.

Very tiny Thai spot but with all the great reviews I had to try. I got a chicken pad Thai and a pad see ew. While it was good noodle dishes it wasn’t amazing Thai noodle dishes. Coming from NY I have high expectations and this didn’t meet it. The chicken was too dry and the flavor was very sweet. The Thai ice tea was also very sweet.

I stayed in Budapest for 3 days and came to this restaurant twice! I’m Thai, and the Thai food here tastes really good — not too spicy, well-balanced, and just right for me. I had fried rice; it was delicious, though a few parts weren’t evenly stir-fried. This restaurant actually has three branches, but I’ve only been to the first and second. The flavor at the second branch is much stronger and spicier, while the first branch is perfect — I love it so much more! ❤️ Also, the restaurant is always full — it was packed every time I visited, which really shows how popular it is! And I think the shrimp fried rice at the first branch came with bigger and more shrimps than the second one 😂 Highly recommend this first branch to all Asian visitors or anyone who wants great Thai food in Budapest! 🇹🇭🍚✨

Very good. I am eating now it's beef noodle with shrimp and a soup noodle with tomato soup. Very very good I believe it s traditional Thai food. Spring rolls on table not yet started With a canned local beer Man you name it Very very good Not spicy at all. Do not be fool by its color of soup

Very delicious food, very local thai. They have great options for choosing, the general popular dish, like Pad Thai but they have also the very local food, which is rare to find. The taste is good, delicious, and freshly cooked, generous portion, the BEST thai food i have ever had.

Hamburger restaurant
Fast food restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Budapest, Simon's Burger Deák Square offers a unique twist on the classic American burger experience. While the restaurant embraces an overtly American theme—complete with an English-only menu and a founder's manifesto—the real star here is undoubtedly the food. The cheeseburger stands out as a must-try, boasting a delightful combination of flavors with its generous toppings and rich sauces that evoke memories of iconic burger joints like Five Guys.
Hi Simon! Love your burgers, love your place. I will be there for sure next time! The burger is simple, yet perfect. I really enjoyed it, wish I had bigger stomach, so I could eat more at the same time.
Marek A — Google review
Simon’s Burger in Deák is definitely one of the trendier burger spots in Budapest. The indoor space is super aesthetic—very modern, stylish, and perfect if you love snapping a few pics of your food or surroundings. It has a cool, urban vibe that makes the dining experience even more enjoyable. There’s also a nice outdoor seating area, which is great when the weather’s good. The burger itself was delicious! I went for the classic cheeseburger, and it didn’t disappoint. The patty was juicy, the bun was soft yet nicely toasted, and the toppings were fresh. I love that you can customize your burger with the toppings of your choice, which gives you lots of freedom to get exactly what you want. The only thing that held me back from giving a full 5 stars was the inconsistency with the sides. On my first visit, the cheese fries came out a bit soggy, which was a letdown. But on my second visit, they were perfect—crispy, cheesy, and super satisfying. So I feel a little in-between, but I’d still say it’s worth coming back. Service was excellent both times. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the food came out fairly quickly even when it was busy. Overall, it’s a really solid spot for a good burger experience in the center of Budapest, and I’d definitely recommend it!
Ali R — Google review
Great smash burgers. They have an unlimited free refill drink option and they work with Coca Cola. If you want to customize your order you have to go to the cashier to order, the automated machine does not allow customization. The boys were solid when I asked for a little monster burger with an extra 4 patties and cheese, for a nice 6 patty monster! They don't have trays, which is odd, so you eat on the paper bag they give you . They also have a little area for kids to play if you bring your kids with you. Also the milkshakes are pretty good. Though beware of busy hours, the kitchen staff works fast, but you could be waiting for up to half an hour during the peak hours.
Jack F — Google review
Worth absolutely every penny. The burgers were delicious. The first time we went here we got the special burger, a cheeseburger, normal fries, and a milkshake. Honestly top tier burgers and even better fries to top it off. The second time we went here we got the hamburger and a cheeseburger instead, because we found that the special burger was a bit too sweet for us, that's not to say that it wasn't delicious, just something to look out for. The milkshakes were also amazing, the second time we went I was not going to get a milkshake, but after thinking about it a little I just had to get another one. Super good.
Christos P — Google review
I ordered a special simon’s burger, fries and sauce. The burger is quite interesting because it was a classic smash burger but with a jam in it. Their sauce as good as simple: mayo, ketchup and tabasco. You can literally make it for free by yourself if you want more on the condiment station. I don’t know why but they pack everything like for take away even if you are going to take a table. It’s a but uncomfy but ok. The package is cool designed with some history of the brand. Also it that branch they have a little museum like glass stand with a first cooking plate under it, which is cool if it’s really was this one and not just random old plate. The place is nice designed but the colour palette is a bit odd in my opinion. Has a kid playground but I could not find a WC. Overall worth to try it at least once. Solid 4

We had an amazing experience at Simon's Burger in Budapest! The burger was absolutely delicious—juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The place is clean and welcoming, and the service was fast. Definitely a must-visit spot for anyone craving a top-quality burger. We can’t wait to come back!
Ιωάννης Σ — Google review
The Cheeseburger is one of the best burgers I've had in a while, overly saucy and great combination of fillings. Has a very "Five Guys" construction methodology, though the amount of toppings is more minimal. Not much store seating, and it looks like the place is run by 2 or 3 peeps. If you like melted cheese, smashed patties and pickles, this is a place for you.

Gulyás Tunkoló Büfé, a cozy spot on Kazinczy Street, is renowned for its classic Hungarian dish - goulash. The menu also features traditional stews with modern twists and a selection of pickles. Guests can savor the rich paprika sauce by dipping bread into the hearty soups. Despite its unassuming appearance, this eatery offers exceptional dishes like wild boar or mouflon stew served with amazing bread.
A must go place if you're in Budapest. We came here to initially try their goulash, which was amazing.. but oh their beef stew.. I think it's the best beef stew we've ever had! It was so good, we came back again the next day! I also tried their tripe stew, I loved it. Their servers were so nice as well, on our first visit the lady went out of her way to get bread for us as they ran out. Bottomline, you MUST try their beef stew.

Theirs 4,9 star is real. Quite small but nice place. We’ve waited couple of minutes for free table (there are only four tables). We’ve ordered beef goulash and it was very delicious. Amount of dish is accurate. Prices are fine. Staff is nice and kind. This place is worth visiting.

I went to this restaurant two times when I was in Budapest. I tried the beef soup and moutain goat meal, both of them were really delicious. It is the best place we could taste traditional Hungary food with cheap prices. How lovely this restaurant is.

Favourite meal in Budapest and the first thing I eat every time I fly in. All the stews are exceptional though it's really hard to beat the wild boar or mouflon stew with their amazing bread. Lovely staff as well. It's a simple place but don't be misled by that and give it a try.

Cozy little restaurant tucked down a quiet street. There are only 4 tables and the food was unbelievable - I had the taster and tried boar, deer and beef stew. Everything is served with a huge piece of fresh bread. The man working there was so welcoming. It was his first day, but he answered all of our questions and was so funny.
Julia C — Google review
Lovely place! We just had a feastful breakfast but couldn't resist getting our first Gulash in Budapest! Very fast and efficient; brought us both bread and water (without even asking for it!); the price was absurdly low in relation to the quality of the food, but most importantly, the lady who runs the place was just stunningly nice, compared to other personell/staff we had encountered before that. We would give 6 stars if it were possible.

What a fantastic little place to eat! For just over 4000 HUF you can get two stews with bread, two beers, a side of pickles, and unicum! The stews are exceptional, with Muflon being the best in our opinion (we went several times)! The staff are very friendly and helpful at suggesting other places to go! Could not recommend more!

Hokedli, located in Budapest's central Sixth District, is a small but noteworthy spot offering a unique selection of homemade thick soups and stews. Despite its unassuming exterior, this pottage bar is known for its flavorful varieties of fozelek, made with beans and peas. The menu changes daily, featuring options like gluten and lactose-free soups as well as those made with coconut milk.
Came I here on a recommendation for lunch, it's a short walk from the tourist area, but still a cool street with tables set outside on the pavement. Anyway, we ordered a zucchini pottage, which is like an English stew and a lentil pottage too. We got some pork meatloaf and some carrot fritters too. The guy offered us water, so we took his offer and tried to stay healthy lol. The food packaging is all cardboard or wooden cutlery, they also offer a lot of vegan and vegetarian options, the food is Hungarian, but with a twist. We enjoyed our food that was recommended by the guy on the counter. The staff here are polite and helpful, food tastes good and feels healthy, prices are reasonable too. Highly recommended, more so if you're vegetarian or vegan......

This is a real find! Small and personal. The stews are delicious. There were 3 today and all were good but I chose the curry. And a side of pork that was so tender. They change their menu daily. I intend to go back. A good meal and a table outside for such a reasonable price is the way to go!

We were looking for authentic Hungarian lunch, this place is a hole in the wall and very easy to walk past. The hosts are very welcoming and warm. They helped us understand the food and answered our questions with patience. There are bar stools to sit and enjoy your meals. Very reasonably priced and fresh. They have mostly vegetarian options. I ate the spinach and cauliflower soup and fried chicken on the side. It was really simple flavour and nice meal.

If you find yourself wandering the vibrant streets of Budapest, make sure to stop by "BUDAPEST BITES - Langosh Streetfood Budapest." This charming eatery offers a delightful introduction to traditional Hungarian langos, which is reminiscent of Fry Bread from the States. The menu features an array of options, including decadent langos burgers and sweet variations like pistachio raspberry.
If you want to taste a langosh or/and are looking for fast food, this place is for you. Langoshes were tasty and well-prepared and you can choose from several toppings (or get three small langooshes with three different toppings). Just keep in mind it is really heavy food and the portions are big here. We planned to go for dinner three hours later. We didn't xD English menu. Card payment is possible. Visited in 09/25.

Great place to try Langosh! We had the burger and it was huge! One was enough to feed 2 people. The fries were very good and seasoned perfectly. I would definitely come back again!

This place does everything right: meaty, good portion size, great dessert without overbearing sweetness, lovely service, charming interior and fitting music. Happened to sojourn nearby and caught wind of the Beast LangoshBurger while the joint was shut for the night. Made it a mission to try it before heading off. No regrets.

Traditional Hungarian langos for everyone who wants to have a quick bite while sightseeing or before a party. Great service and atmosphere, the waitresses are very kind and they all speak English. I recommend the 3 mini langos or the one with cheese and sour cream. They are super tasty and not oily at all.
Marta F — Google review
For now, best langos I had in Budapest! But I probably would recommend the goulash even more. They serve it with a small plain langos on the side, really nice. The goulas is not as thick as you might expect it, but still really good

I ordered Hungarian style Langos and the food was so cold that I thought they just took it out from the freezer. And the taste was also not that good. The lady behind the counter was also behaving a bit unwelcoming. I recommend people to skip this place and try Langos somewhere else.

Öcsi Étkezde is a charming, family-owned restaurant located in Budapest's District 8. Since its opening in 1981, the proprietors Erzsi and Feri have been serving up delicious, homemade meals to their loyal clientele. Despite its unassuming appearance, this small bistro has garnered a reputation for its authentic atmosphere and consistently good food at affordable prices. With only four tables, the intimate setting allows for personalized service where regulars are greeted by name.
We went to this little spot after reading the reviews. Traditional Hungarian cuisine with the menu updated everyday and the lovely owners translating the menu for us to explain what the dishes were. Highly recommend for a spot that isn’t so touristic with more authenticity and affordability. For an idea of price - We got a soft drink, two mains, a soup, a side and spent roughly 7000 forint.

Small typical restaurant, delicious simple food, you share your table with strangers, you follow the recommendation as the menu changes every day, a real experience! The owner does his best to speak a bit of English.

This small spot near II. János Pál pápa tér is a true local favorite. It feels like eating at a real Hungarian home. They’re only open for lunch, Monday to Thursday. Since they only have four tables, be prepared to share your seating with friendly regulars. It’s a limited menu of traditional Hungarian food. They don't have an English language menu, but Google Translate works fine. The food is honestly better than any tourist spot downtown and way cheaper. This is the real local reality. You can pay by cash or card. Takeaway is available if you order in person. If you're looking for an authentic, non-touristy experience, this hidden gem in the 8th district is the place to go.

Every client coming here knows exactly what to expect and usually the menu is the same and the client order the same food. This is not a place for tourists, the owner know little English and that's the way they like it (the client do too), but you cannot find a better place for authentic Hungarian cuisine with such a family feeling you will think you are home... Unfortunately, the owner/bar person deliberately added things we didn't order to the plate (and specified 3 times that we did not want), and proceeded to try to charge us double the price compared to what we asked for. Eventually agreed to remove one of the items, and then still managed to 'miscalculate' the correct price. Food was edible, but strongly advise foreigners do not visit this place. Poor experience.

It offers a varied menu with weekly and daily specials, including traditional Hungarian dishes like goulash soup and beef stew. We came here for lunch, without any reservation. It was a bit crowded so we waited for around 20 minutes until there was a table available for us. It was worth it! The food was fresh and delicious, huge portions and tasty! The staff is vrey friendly, always with a smile on their face and the ambiance is cozy. Would reccomend. Oh and we got free cookies at the end. Thank you!

We had a wonderful dinner at Menza, which offers a great blend of tasty food and a modern, fancy-casual atmosphere. It’s clearly a popular spot, and for good reason, but my number one tip is to book a table in advance! We saw a queue forming at the entrance, and having a reservation meant we could walk straight in. The menu is very tourist-friendly, offering a QR code on the table that brings up the menu in six different languages. The prices were quite reasonable for the quality and the location. For our meal, we tried a mix of classic and contemporary dishes: The Hungarian Beef Stew (Marhapörkölt) was delicious and a perfect taste of local cuisine. The Menza Burger was very tasty, but be prepared for a bit of a mess – it was a little unstable and tended to fall apart while eating. The house Menza draft beer was served perfectly cold and was excellent. We finished with the cheesecake, which was also very good. The service was generally positive; the staff were nice and helpful, though they seemed a bit rushed, which is understandable given how busy the restaurant was. Overall, I'd give Menza a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It's a fantastic choice for a lively dinner in Budapest, offering great food in a stylish setting. Just make sure you book ahead to avoid a wait.

Best meal we had in Budapest. Beautiful restaurant with plenty of seating. Service was very quick. Food was beautifully plated, generous portion, reasonable pricing and tasty. Recommend the duck leg with pumpkin risotto and garlic cream soup with langos (although langos was oily and bit too doughy ). The meat in the goulash with spaetzle was a bit dry. The honey mustard pork chop meat was also dry. Overall a lovely meal.
Jennifer C — Google review
We spent a very nice evening here. The service and atmosphere is great! My friend thinks that his dish was very average, I loved my duck liver, perfectly cooked, although mushed potatoes were disappointing: I understand that using a blender is easier to achieve smooth texture results but the texture changes as well. All chefs know that. All in all I would visit this restaurant again.
Anastasiia B — Google review
A nice Hungarian restaurant that tailored mainly for tourists. Interesting dishes, tasty food. Good for tourists wanting to try something new. But some dishes were too salty.
Wanda C — Google review
I went there just after they opened at 11:30am. I went alone without reservation and was let in right away. I ordered the crispy goose leg with braised red cabbage and mashed potato as main. The goose leg has crispy skin, a bit fatty and cooked just right. The mashed potato is not your typical mash which has lumps (I'm not sure if this is how they do it in Hungary) and the braised red cabbage provided a bit of tartness which cuts through the fattiness of the goose leg. The crispy carrot ribbons offered a nice change in mouth feel. I had the pineapple and mango drink which was refreshing and was served in a big glass. For the dessert, I had the vegan panna cotta which seemed that it had a light coconut milk base with pomegranate and blueberries, and tiny tapioca pearls. It was light, not too sweet and a nice dessert to a quite hearty main dish. The panna cotta's consistency though is a bit different which is closer to a protein yogurt rather than the usual panna cotta. Overall, it was a nice lunch, the ambiance was relaxing, and service was fast.

Lovely dining experience! I went here with my family twice during our holiday and both times, the food was superb and the service was polite, friendly and prompt. The portion sizes were generous and beautifully presented with a wide range of options for all dietary needs. The drinks were also of a very reasonable price, especially the homemade syrups and lemonades! I recommend the duck breast with goat's cheese and pomegranate sauce, as well as the passion fruit and pineapple lemonade (both seen in the picture attached). However, I believe you would be very satisfied with whatever you order on the menu :)

Hungarian restaurant
In the historic district of Obuda in Budapest, you'll find Kéhli Vendéglő, a charming country-style inn that offers a taste of traditional Hungarian cuisine. The restaurant is known for serving classic dishes such as bone-marrow soup and stuffed cabbage, accompanied by a selection of Hungarian wines.
A beautiful restaurant with old world Budapest charm. Had amazing tastes of three dishes: Pancake wrapped pork in Paprikash, chicken Paprikash & the cabbage roll. The pheasant soup & homemade pickles were also top notch. 100% authentic classic dishes!.

Authentic Hungarian food away from tourists places. Loved this family owned 125 year old restaurant. We were seated in a very charming garden area. Food and service were delightful.
Varsha D — Google review
Ok so I won't exagerate here, but the food here was just on a different level. So perfectly cooked, the flavors so balanced. Textures amazing. It was a pleasure to taste it. Every dish was a different vibe, and all of them absolutely amazing. Regardless of what you choose, you will taste heaven. Super traditional, fair prices and with a typical hungarian music group. I got a violinist soloing with perfect skill in front of me. Super super skilled. Please come and try it out for yourself!

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch in late October here. Atmosphere/decor is really neat. Old world feel, expansive menu, great service (we are not bilingual, but they do have menus with English and from there you can communicate easily with the server). The restaurant is fairly large, multiple dinning rooms and seating areas. Lastly - this place was recommended to us by several different locals.
Mark L — Google review
My friend and I came here on our first night in Budapest. The atmosphere was very lively (helped by the talented live musicians!) and it seemed that the restaurant’s clientele were mainly locals, so we were looking forward to an authentic Hungarian meal. The food itself was good, we had the goulash soup, chicken paprikash and cabbage rolls. These were definitely familiar flavours, and maybe our expectations were slightly different to what we actually ate, but overall it was a good introduction to Hungarian cuisine.

Wow so blown away by the food. Had the stuffed cabbage and it was delish!! Was so stuffed but decided to try dessert chestnut puree. It was a pleasant pleasant surprise. Service was delightful. Great meal to end a lovely trip to Hungary 🙂

Amazing Hungarian food! Gluten free options too! We ordered a soup, 2 main dishes and dessert! All were so tasty and great service.

We went in without a reservation as a group of 6, the staff was very nice. The food was unique, high quality, and there's a large variety of dishes. We didn't get a chance to enjoy the live music for most of the night, but I am looking forward to going back to enjoy it another time.

Restaurant
Vapiano is a unique dining experience that combines the charm of Italian cuisine with a modern twist, all while being German-owned. This laid-back restaurant specializes in made-to-order fresh pasta dishes, alongside mouthwatering pizzas and crisp salads. Located conveniently near Szervita ter and Deak ter on Becsi utca, Vapiano boasts an upscale design reminiscent of Italy's finest eateries.
!Friends, a perfect place to eat. Spacious branch, affordable prices, clean, and the food is very tasty, don't even hesitate. You have pastas, salads, children's dishes, lots of seating, well... are you still hesitating? I'm telling you it's a safe bet.

The pizza was okay — not the best I’ve had, especially compared to other pizzerias in Budapest, but still decent. The pasta, on the other hand, was quite tasty and well-cooked. However, I felt the portion size was a bit small compared to what most Italian restaurants usually offer. Overall, not bad, but there’s definitely room for improvement.
Sarah M — Google review
The food was pretty average — nothing bad, but nothing special either. The upstairs gallery area was quite warm and stuffy, with little to no airflow, which made it a bit uncomfortable to sit there for long.
Mihály A — Google review
We visited this restaurant recently and we had the risotto. Unfortunately, the indoor temperature was quite warm, which made the dining experience less comfortable. The food quality was average and waiting time was more than enough!
Philip — Google review
We have ordered pizza diabolo, pasta campanella. Both tastes are very good. Plenty space for sitting and charging options available. Toilets available. Price is bit expensive, but worth for taste and felt stomach filling. They will say you at first about the waiting time would be minimum 30 mins. (I liked it). And after seeing the crowd over there I felt that worth waiting for 30 mins. Over all experience is very good.
Rajala M — Google review
Very delicious food. You order on the kiosk by yourself or at the bar. We had margherita pizza with added corn and tomatoes and red pesto gnocchi with chicken. The food was done very quickly. We ate here on a Friday and there was a lot of space to sit. Prices are okay.
Hel E — Google review
Took 30 minutes to prepare... And the portions were small and unappealing. The pasta was served el Dante, my husband's pasta was missing mushrooms that we paid for. The sauces were very basic and lack of flavour. They took a big service fee although we we ordered in the machine and took it ourselves...

Amazing Italian restaurant in Budapest! The pasta was fresh, the pizza had the perfect crust, and every dish was full of flavor. The atmosphere was cozy and authentic, and the service was excellent. Truly one of the best Italian dining experiences we’ve had outside of Italy – highly recommended!

Dobrumba is a popular and trendy restaurant located in the 7th District, offering a diverse menu inspired by European and Middle Eastern cuisines. The larger edition of Dobrumba, known as Pingrumba, has gained popularity for its traditional dishes from Cairo to Calcutta. The restaurant provides shareable meze and individual dishes with a unique blend of Indian and Middle-Eastern flavors.
We stumbled upon Dobrumbá by chance — the exterior caught our eye and we decided to give it a try. Luckily we got a table without a reservation, but I’d recommend booking ahead since it gets busy. The vibe inside is relaxed but beautifully designed, with a cozy, stylish feel. We started with vermouth, which was honestly one of the best I’ve had — super smooth and flavorful. The food is all about sharing: small plates with a delicious fusion of Middle Eastern and European influences. We were three people and ordered two tapas each, but in hindsight, four total plus dessert would’ve been more than enough. The homemade cheese and fava were the highlights for us — fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying — but everything we tried was really good. Service was friendly and the food came out quickly. All in all, a great find — perfect for a casual but tasty dinner in Budapest.

The atmosphere is really cool and alternative, and all the food we ordered was delicious. We’d like to compliment the guy with bangs, who was super friendly and fun with us! We liked it so much that we came back again.

Excellent, I mean absolutely EXCELLENT food. I would highly recommend this spot for Meditteranean/Israeli food. We walked in here without a reservation so there was a bit of a wait to get a seat, but the servers were extremely nice and efficient in not only making sure we were served a drink while waiting but also getting us a table. The food itself was amazing, there was not one dish that I would not recommend. The menu was fun and interesting and so well priced. The wines were also extremely good and a strong recommendation as they were mostly natural wines with interesting origins!

Was looking for falafel but ended up trying the fried cod shawarma instead. I’ve never had any kind of shawarma before, so I can’t compare, but I really enjoyed it — especially with the hummus and fresh pita on the side. A pleasant surprise was discovering buckwheat tea — I had no idea you could make tea from it, but it was really good. Nice atmosphere and friendly service.
Inna P — Google review
Cozy and atmospheric place with nice music. We ordered a lot of different dishes, and everything was really tasty! The only disappointment was the cocktail — it felt like they forgot the alcohol. Overall, a great experience, and I’ll definitely come back on my next visit to Budapest.

Dobrumba is a welcoming and friendly place. We were greeted with smiles and though there asn't a free table we didn't wait much (for lunch). The same goes for ordering and serving - it was fast with no hassles. We shared several dishes and all of them were warm and freshly cooked. If you are into Middle Eastern food, you'll like it here. Personally I love the flavors. My favorite was the chicken shawarma but I'd also order again the piri-piri chicken, the pomegranate chicken liver and the patatas bravas with aioli. All had rich flavors. If you like homemade lemonade, do try theirs.
Vladimir D — Google review
We visited last night and had such a great experience. We ordered the mutabal, chicken shawarma, polenta and the fatoush salad, and everything was honestly delicious. They first brought us labneh instead of mutabal by mistake, but they let us keep it on the house, which was really kind of them. The staff were super friendly and the whole place has a great vibe. It was super packed, so make sure to have a reservation. We will definitely be back! ✨

Babel Budapest, established in 2008, is a Michelin-starred restaurant that reflects the passion of its owner, Hubert Hlatky Schlichter. The restaurant's historical significance is evident in the walls marked by the Great Flood of 1838. With an exclusive seating capacity of only 12 tables, Babel offers an exquisite dining experience rooted in Transylvanian cuisine. Chef Istvan Veres infuses traditional dishes with a fresh twist, drawing inspiration from his childhood meals.
We had a really nice evening! The food was good — the turbot soup and the beef were especially tasty and well-prepared; the dessert had a lovely mix of flavours. In general, I was expecting a bit more in terms of presentation and colours, but the taste made up for it. The wine pairing was excellent. The birthday surprise for my wife was a really thoughtful touch. The staff were friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience feel special.

The best meal I ever eaten!!! 13 course menu, each dish was more tasty then the last. Modern Hungarian cuisine, some flavor were mainly for Hungarian taste (the bacon was salty (for my taste) and strong goat cheese cake (but I like it). The best experience I recommend in Budapest The chef is very talented

The 12-course tasting menu was masterfully curated, with every detail thoughtfully designed and artistically presented. Each dish was not only a visual masterpiece but also a flavor journey of the highest caliber. The Hungarian wine pairings were absolutely perfect and elevated the entire experience. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely caring throughout the evening. Heartfelt congratulations to the team— in our opinion, Babel truly deserves three Michelin stars. Auguszt Cukrászda Belváros is a charming and traditional café with a cozy atmosphere, featuring classic Hungarian cakes and desserts. The family-run business has been passing down recipes through generations, offering a delightful selection of treats such as Dobos cake, retes, and Eszterhazy cake. Whether you're on the Pest or Buda side of the city, you're likely to come across one of their three locations.
I visited Auguszt Cukrászda Belváros and purchased cakes. The café itself has a charming, traditional ambiance with elegant mirrors and warm wood-backed furniture. The cake was beautifully presented, showcasing the craftsmanship that Auguszt is known for. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, making for a delightful treat. If you're looking for a cozy spot with high-quality pastries, this is a great choice!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A true Budapest gem! Auguszt is not just a café – it’s a piece of Hungarian history served on a plate. Every bite feels like a journey through generations of craftsmanship and tradition. We tried the Dobos torte, the Krémes, and a savory quiche – all absolutely outstanding. The Dobos was rich yet perfectly balanced, the Krémes was light and heavenly, and even the salad next to the quiche was fresh and flavorful. The coffee was excellent too. The atmosphere is elegant but warm, with a real sense of family heritage. You can feel the pride and love that go into every pastry. Unlike the touristy cafés around the city, this one feels authentic, calm, and genuinely Hungarian. If you want to experience the soul of Budapest’s pastry culture – this is the place. Highly recommended!

An exceptionally pleasant and cozy patisserie. The interior is impressive, as can be seen in the videos. The lady who served us was very kind and friendly, and the Dobos and Eszterházy cakes we tried were delicious and light. It is definitely worth a visit.

One of the most welcoming and helpful staff I've come across in Budapest. The atmosphere was great, the staff were warm and welcoming. They were kind enough to go through all the different pastry names for me in English, no one's done that yet. Although I reached close to the cafe closing they were quite accomodating. I tried only one pastry, it's my new favourite and totaly worth it. I would definitely visit again! Thank you!

We went to this restaurant not expecting very much but it went above our expectations. Great, cosy and intriguing interiors and design. Food was very pleasantly good, and better than what we thought it may be. We describe the food as elevated and modern Hungarian cuisine with a slight Asian fusion twist, but it all came together quite well. We visited this place after a long day of sightseeing in Budapest. Unfortunately, we were very unpleasantly surprised by the attitude of the waiters — dissatisfaction and eye-rolling. The food was tasty, but the bread served with the dishes was cut by the waiter without using a napkin (with bare hands) — unfortunately, we only noticed this later when he was cutting it at another table. The waiter also didn’t help with the wine selection, simply saying, “here’s the white, and here’s the red,” and stood silently while I, exhausted, tried to figure it out. Overall, the place is nice, but the service left an unpleasant aftertaste.

Café Jedermann, located on the bustling restaurant street of Pest, was founded in 2010 by Hans van Vliet, a well-known figure in the Budapest scene. By day, it's a popular spot for local university students, while at night it transforms into a prominent dinner-and-show venue. The café hosts a variety of musical performances including string quartets, swing ensembles, jazz and funk concerts.

Café Jedermann is hands down my favorite spot in Budapest. we went a few times, sometimes just for a beer, other times for a bite, and every visit was a great experience. the atmosphere is effortlessly cool and cozy, with music that always matched our taste. The soups are seriously good and incredibly cheap...a perfect match for the low beer prices. and if you’re into Jazz, this place is a must. we were lucky enough to catch a concert by the amazing Bálint Gyémánt Trio, and it was unforgettable. *If you want to see one of their two weekend shows, definitely book at least a week in advance - tickets go fast* Even when the place was full, the staff was super nice and really attentive. there were usually only two waitresses and one bartender, but they always managed to keep things running smoothly, never making us wait too long. Really, really good staff. Even if you can’t get a spot for a concert, it’s worth coming here on any other night just to soak in the vibe. I know I’ll be back, and if you’re in Budapest, I can’t recommend it enough...

Italian restaurant
Little Italy pizzéria & söröző is a cozy neighborhood spot in Budapest, exuding an authentic Italian vibe with its décor and Italian servers. The restaurant offers a simple yet inviting setting with about 6-7 small tables and two rooms. The menu features a variety of pizzas with different toppings at reasonable prices, ranging from 1,900-3,200 for pizzas. While the establishment only accepts cash, it's known for serving delicious pizzas that are well worth the visit.
I had heard a lot about this place from local friends, so I finally had to give it a try. The atmosphere feels very authentic, and the English-speaking staff adds to the welcoming vibe. However, the opening hours are a bit tricky, so planning ahead is essential. The menu is simple and easy to navigate, offering a well-curated selection of pizzas—just enough variety without being overwhelming. I went with the Cesare pizza and a Pasticciotto Leccese for dessert. Both arrived quickly and tasted fantastic. The pizza had a great balance of toppings with a deliciously crispy crust, while the dessert, filled with Nutella, was a perfect sweet finish. Overall, I had a great lunch here and highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Italian flavors in Budapest. Plus, if you pay with cash, you get a discount on all pizzas—definitely worth keeping in mind!

We arrived late in the city and the restaurant was very close to our hotel. We arrived about 25min before closing and asked to be seated and they had no problem doing so they told us they close at nine if that was ok for us we were delighted. We ordered the calzone and it was simply amazing the staff were friendly and attentive. I really would recommend this place and will definitely be back to try the desserts, as we were to full from the calzone's 5 stars all the way
Philip D — Google review
I do not like the idea that they demand cash only. In fact this is against the law in Hungary. But things go a bit further. If you do comply with cash, they deduct 1000ft of your pizza, but you use a phone like me to pay, you’ll end up in a debate with the staff and pay the menu price as it’s offered. The pizza is good, I’ve been here throughout my 8 years of Budapest. But the quality has gone down, while prices have doubled, and higher. This is a bit sad to see. The once great pizza is now overwhelmed with a large amount of competition. To be clear you can pay with card, but they will be resistant. This once hidden gem has deteriorated, unfortunately.
Remco V — Google review
An absolutely wonderful place with an atmosphere that felt genuine. The pizzas were great and the ricotta and peach crostata was perfect with a shot of limoncello.

Wonderful pizza 🍕 Lovely service 🥰
Melinda W — Google review
The restaurant is on the smaller side with about 6-7 smaller tables. There are 2 rooms. The first room you’ll walk into from the entrance is the kitchen and to the right is mainly where people eat. Prices are very decent too and has a nice range of different toppings. Ranging anywhere from 1,900-3,200 for pizzas, 550-4,990 for drinks, and 1290-1490 for desserts. Do keep in mind too that they only accept cash. They specialize in pizzas and they do it very well. The food tasted wonderful and even though the pizza crust was a bit salty for my taste the calzone’s cheese and mushroom mix had such good flavour and left me wanting much more. Overall, a really nice place to hop into while walking around the city or if you’re just craving some pizza.

This restaurant is a great choice if you're looking for affordable Vietnamese food. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The pho soup is especially excellent, with a delicious broth that will leave you refreshed and satisfied. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by Good Morning Vietnam!
We really really loved this vietnamese food, we tried many Vietnamese restaurants in budapest but this place was very good, 😊 we highly recommend this place, it’s quite small inside but once you taste definitely you will comeback i swear! This place is 300meters from parliament building, again will comeback here again. We loved it taste very good

I recently visited this small Vietnamese restaurant, and while the experience wasn’t bad, it didn’t quite hit the mark for me either. The space is quite limited, cozy, but not ideal if you’re coming with a larger group or hoping for a bit of elbow room. As for the food, it’s… okay. Not bad, but definitely leaning more towards a Westernized version of Vietnamese cuisine. If you’re looking for bold, traditional flavors or that signature street-food authenticity, you might find it a bit underwhelming. It’s more of a fusion twist, seemingly crafted to suit a Western palate, which may appeal to some, but might disappoint purists. Overall, it’s a decent spot for a casual bite, especially if you’re new to Vietnamese food and want a gentler introduction. But for those seeking the real-deal experience, it might fall a bit short.

This is my favorite restaurant in the whole city! I eat here multiple times a week, the food is delicious and nutritious! the iced green tea is amazing, the service is always top tier, also the prices extremely reasonable, it’s not a tourist trap like so many other restaurants in the city. These people actually care about the food they serve and it show, I can’t recommend this place enough!

Very nice place. Just walking and smelling the kitchen and seeing Vietnamese ppl eat - A good sign! Order fo soup - authentic and good. Spring rolls - with fish and soy sauce - very nice. Fresh!! Meet ban - simple and ok.. just ok. Price is high compared to Vietnam but for average hungarian is ok. If it was high price i wouldnt eat. But it is a good place!!! Recommended Maybe add music? More oriental pictures or statues.. But the place is really really nice Thank you

Best place in Budapest. We came two days straight. Great rice, noodles, soups and appetizers. We'll be back!

I have no doubt that Good Morning Vietnam is the best vietnamese restaurant in Budapest, after tried so many in the area. If I can give ten stars, I will! The pork balls (mixed with mushrooms) in the pho are so fresh and tasty, so as the ham (not western style salty cured pork but fresh one). And the big pieces of pork (the leg cut) are so juicy and fresh, arguably the best cut from a pig. The round rice noodles and the soup base are also outstanding. I also ordered fried rice with beef to take away. The fried rice has the right amount of flavours and packed with wok hei so it's not too oily and the wok hei perfectly integrated all the sweetness of the vegetables and the savory of the sauce together. The phin coffee with condensed milk is strong and sweet in perfect balance. I love the cooking in this small shop. It's the classic Vietnamese cooking in its best form. Highly recommended!!

BITE bakery café is a local coffee chain with multiple locations, offering an extensive pastry and food menu along with strong Arabica coffee. It's a great spot for those who want both filling food and great coffee on the go. The cafe is known for its delicious cinnamon rolls and rich coffee, providing a cozy atmosphere with free Wi-Fi for a delightful breakfast or productive work session.
First time at Bite in Budapest and the service and staff were so friendly and passionate. The food and coffee were delicious. We’ll definitely be back again soon.

Coffee was good. Food was fresh and delicious. Mind the portions - they are the average size, do not expect it huge. It’s cheaper to buy in set: coffee + pastry. Service was awesome, lady was friendly and politely explained everything. There’s plenty of room to be seated, but if you want to-go you’d have to pay additional fee for a package. Also, there’re sockets available. I recommend this place.

Nice place for a coffee and sweet rolls or a quick bite. One of my favourite coffee shops when I come to visit Budapest, as the price/quality ratio is quite good and it's something different from Starbucks you can find everywhere.

Great spot for a coffee and pastry ! Great variety of sweet and savoury options. We loved the upstairs seating area that was warm and had a view of the street below.

Bitebakerycafe was a good place to visit and was offering something familiar to us on our holidays. I would recommend it. If your breakfast is not included at your hotel, come here instead. It’s probably cheaper plus you tend to over-eat in hotels… There was a steady stream of customers but maybe not what Budapest locals are attracted to. The ready-made offerings were of a high standard. Our part of four had bagels, scrolls and coffees two days in a row. The scrolls are big and gooey yet delicious all at the same time.

Went here for multiple brunches over the course of our holiday, they have the best cherry blossom blubbery lemonade and the best cinnamon rolls along with a plethora of great slavery bagels, pretzels and croissants. The staff are very lovely ☺️

Chinese restaurant
He He Chinese Restaurant is a hidden gem in Budapest's Chinatown, offering delicious and affordable Chinese cuisine. The restaurant features a modest and unassuming space within the Monori Center, easily accessible from the city center via public transport. With a menu inspired by various regions of China, He He specializes in spicy Sichuan dishes such as sizzling black pepper beef, hot cabbage salad with roasted pork belly, and classic dan dan noodles.
Food was really good but don’t expect much from the atmosphere. But the food is so good. Big Chinese population in Budapest

Low key and no frills, this old school Chinese restaurant dishes out all the classics! I really enjoyed the 牛肉拉面 Lanzhou Ramen for around $7 USD at time of reviews. It’s Chinese comfort food, especially for the winter time!

Well we took the # 95 bus and then a short walk. No welcome when you walk in and as tourist do I sit or will you seat me? Ok we ordered and the fried rice on the picture was brown and when the rice arrived it was completely white but ok. It lacked salt but was average. It took a long time for our proteins to come out and we had already finished our fried rice. The best thing was our waiter Alex & the iced cold TsingTao beer. Ok perhaps this was an off day🤔. Thank you Alex for your service!
Kiesha M — Google review
Little restaurant was fully packed. Huge dishes, especially the giant fish plate; good prices, especially if you go as a family/friend group. Most dishes are a bit underseasoned, except the cabbage stir fry which was great, and the squid plate was a bit salty. Service and decor/cleanliness of facilities are a little bit lacking, but we had a nice lunar new year group meal 🐷
Jiaqi Z — Google review
Really nice food. Beef noodles is a must order! Dumplings are like packed with meat, more like a bao than dumplings. Stir fry bok choy is 10 out of 10!
Liu H — Google review
I ordered a fried rice dish and paid in advance, but ended up waiting for almost 45 minutes without receiving it. Despite asking several times about my order, I was only told later that it hadn’t even been started. The staff explained they would only prepare it after serving sixteen other orders first, and they refused to address the mistake. In the end, they simply refunded my money instead of offering any real solution. This kind of approach is extremely careless and unreliable. A restaurant should have the basic responsibility to fulfill prepaid orders in a timely and proper manner.
Zóra M — Google review
I’ve been craving Chinese food, and not the kind you get in a mall that sits in a pan and gets warmed up in a microwave when you order. I saw a review of He He Kinai on a travel blog and knew immediately that this was the place to satisfy my cravings. They served up the fattest dumplings I’ve ever seen and their size was matched only by the flavor they packed. The hot and sour soup was sublime. A generous portion that was a perfectly balance bowl of deliciousness. We also enjoyed Sichuan Beef, Mapo Tofu, Kung Bao Chicken, and a cauliflower dish that came in its own pot, with a variety of steamed rice, fried rice, and pan fried noodles. Today was like celebrating Jewish Christmas a few months early.

Ramen restaurant
Restaurant
Ramenka is a cozy spot located in the lively Kazinczy Street, offering a minimalist setting and a warm welcome. This eatery specializes in Japanese ramen noodles, featuring various broth bases and toppings such as dumplings. The menu includes well-flavored broths with homemade noodles, seasonal vegetables like bok choy and wood-ear mushrooms, and options for spicier or vegetarian servings. The generous portions come at reasonable prices, making it a great alternative to Hungarian cuisine.
This place is good for introverts. Because you order online and can pay also by Apple Pay/card. However, I didn’t understand why they require emails. The food was ok. Ramen was good but the taste is not so specific. I also didn’t like raw carrots inside the soup. My boyfriend ordered burger and it was just normal and small. Nevertheless, I liked dumplings. The lemonade is for amateurs and boba is just alright. I recommend this place, however, it’s 4 for me.
Akbota T — Google review
Very poor imitation of japanese food! Upon entering you get the feeling that ok this is a 4 star place that with a good enough food can reach 5 stars. But you sit down and it starts going downhill from there. First downside is the very stupid ordering system, you are asked to provide and verify an email so you can order on your phone in age of convenience and privacy this is just 0 in both areas. Then the food arrives and you are faced with a very average ramen, its not good enough to bring you back nor bad enough to get you out. We tried beef and pork belly, beef was very dry and overall the broth while ok lacked any sort of excitement or flavor to make you more interested. The dumplings on the other hand were better than average, spring rolls were slightly oily for my taste and vegan option part bland and flavorless but overall the texture and looks were in a better shape than the ramen combined with the sauce it was actually enjoyable. Overall, first impression you get is a take on an authentic Asian restaurant and assuming the menu is a try on being modern and giving you space but as you spend time you start to notice how soulless the place is. The waitresses while kind, did not speak a word with me which was rude but convenient for them as my girlfriend spoke Hungarian. If food was the only factor ramen would get a 2 star and dumplings push it to a weak 3 star as the food is just that, average! But add the rest its a strong one star.
Daniel A — Google review
The place looks wonderful from the outside, but as others have said, once you sit down it gets worse. The ordering system would be ok, if somebody told you it exists and if it didn’t cause confusion for the kitchen/service (we were missing a meal and nobody knew where it was). The food itself was quite disappointing, we had noodles, rice bowl and gyoza. The noodles were average, the rice bowl and gyoza were flavorless. The rice bowl (which I expected to be cold) also had warm rice and cold meat and sauce, so the end result was a room temperature meal. The best things were the lemonade and tea.
Daniela D — Google review
I love this restaurant and it's not my first time coming here but it was my first time in the new location. I'm a lot happier with this new place! There's more space, the servers are more interactive and overall the atmosphere is quite pleasant. Negatives: you need to place your order through your phone, if they are going to do this, I expect more outlets along the wall and more signs with the wifi password on it. I personally don't like ordering on my phone since I don't want to look at my phone more than necessary plus having to register my email in order to get my food...not a fan of that, hence the 4 stars for the service. Positives: the food is great, the location is clean and the service is friendly/quick. I walked out with a smile on my face because the guy serving us was super friendly.
Anna — Google review
This place isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a data grab. They want you to provide working email, receive email, put in verification code, answer question, then order. NO. I want to just order verbally like a regular restaurant. Anyway I refused to do all of that and the waiter was cool about it. The waiter was actually the only nice thing about the entire experience. The ramen was not very good. I’ve eaten it about 100 times and this may have been the worst. Broth was alright but everything else was meh. Then At the end as if they haven’t harassed you enough with the phone stuff, they come around with a QR code wanting a review. Like damn chill on the phone stuff, I’m here to relax not do cell phone steps. At least If you wanna steal my data, make a decent bowl of ramen.
Georgia B — Google review
In one word, average. Nothing mind blowing. I’ve been in better places, specially here in Budapest. The service was okay, actually they helped me with the ordering process: scan the QR, register, wait the email for the confirmation code, put it on the website and you’re all set. A bit complicated for “non technological” people. But it is what it is. Food nothing special and the soup was not so hot. What I liked was actually the dumplings… I could taste the crunchiness cause they were just fried. 👍🏼
Gaetano C — Google review
Overall: ★☆☆☆☆ After a promising start (judging a book by it's cover from the inviting exterior) and some favourable reviews I earmarked it for some ramen one night. As it was empty and devoid of atmosphere I decided to take away. That was the second mistake, the first being going in. The ‘ramen’ is presented to you with all the ingredients separated into a number of plastic cups with the main ‘broth’ being a tightly cling filmed wrapped paper cup full to the brim with a watery instant soup mix. The powdered remnants remained at the bottom as the paper cup burst as soon as I started to unravel the wrapping. If I wanted to make my own ramen I would have bought the ingredients and made it myself. Instead I received tasteless DIY kit which went everywhere as so poorly packaged and aside of not being fit for purpose was devoid of anything vaguely ramen tasting. I’m amazed this place remains open. The reaosn is probably it's location is in close proximity to a number of theatres. Sadly and unusually no photos. Food: Supposed to be ramen What I liked: • Vaguely friendly welcome • Clean and simple interior What I didn’t like: • NOTHING authentic at all about this place • The food. The most appalling excuse for ramen I’ve come across. I mean terrible. • The menu. No smart phone. No menu as you have to scan a QR code to see it. • Randomly has Korean ‘style’ kimchi as a side option • Eerily quiet for a mid week evening at 7pm. I now know why. Do I recommend going? NO Will I go again? NO Was it good value? YES - but then you’re paying for not very much Price Point: $
Daniel — Google review
This restaurant is borderline evil. The establishment is purposefully set up to collect a working email from you and give you no time to change your mind about the place given its red flags before you spend over 10 euro on really disappointing food. Once you've found a table, you will notice that the menu is on a QR code. It brings you to a login page where you must give an email and verify it before it brings you to the food. The website is also how you place your order, sealing your fate. This means that mere seconds after sitting down, if you were really hungry, you could have ordered and paid before realizing all the bad signs of this place. This is what they want. The ramen is unreasonably salty, maybe urging somebody to buy a drink... The ramen and food seemed to have been sitting in the kitchen for quite some time, and it all came fairly quickly... The temperature of the food makes me guess they have some sort of microwave system set up. My buddy ordered some kind of meat sauce with rice and the meat sauce was visibly solidifying and the rice looked like it was sat there perfectly shaped for a long time. At the end when I paid at the counter, the man at the desk did not look me in the eyes which really just confirms to me that they know what they are doing.

If you're looking to dive into the heart of Hungarian culture, a visit to the Hungarian GastroCellar is an absolute must. On a chilly evening, nothing warms you up quite like Palinka, Hungary's national fruit brandy. With flavors ranging from apricot to plum and pear, this potent spirit has a way of sneaking up on you—so sip slowly!
A must when in Budapest, we had the wine tasting included in the 72h Budapest Card and it was amazing!

Chalystha L — Google review
We had pre purchased the most comprehensive tasting packages they offered online for a special occasion with a group, after closely looking at the options online and also emailing with their corporate team. Sadly, there was a significant disconnect between what was advertised on GetYourGuide and what their team told us over email, versus what actual staff in the establishment were able to deliver, and the seven item tasting we had purchased was only possible for those having wine and not palinka. The team on the ground insisted on charging full price, and the team back in the office only redirected us to GetYourGuide and were also not willing to help. It’s a real shame as the tasting, even though light on content with just someone telling you what you were drinking rather than really guiding you through in greater detail, was good. The products were good and portions generous, and the cheese and charcuterie plates were also very enjoyable and nicely put together. It was a lively activity for the group that was simply overshadowed by the poor service and handling of the situation. If planning a visit here, I’d recommend buying through GetYourGuide. They were way more helpful than the staff here.

went there for the free wine tasting included in Budapest pass and a late lunch: -food was good; -waitress was nice -all 3 wine glasses had water stains, see in pictures -there are some propagandistic messages on the walls Conclusion: not great, not terrible

Went because it offered a free tasting with the Budapest card. Oh my God, it was so good. 3 large glasses of delicious wine (white, rosé and red), 2 very tasty cheeses and the best ever smoky salami. It was so good and so generous, we thought it would be a shame to leave having just had the freebies. We stayed for dinner. Probably the best food we had in Budapest (we only ate at Hungarian restaurants and they were all exceptional). It's in a beautiful setting in a celler, was once a museum so had lots of interesting 'exhibits' and lots of information on Hungarian food and traditions. Highly recommended 👌 and well worth a visit. I'd give 10 🌟 if I could.
Patricia O — Google review
If you’ve got the Budapest card, this is a must! You get 3 glasses of wine and a mini charcuterie included in the card (so basically free right?). It was super quiet which is a shame because it’s a gorgeous little spot with loads of info about the history of Hungarian cuisine. I also had the confit duck which was delicious if a little dry. It comes up on maps as ‘Palinka Experience’ and shares its entrance with Zing Burgers which can be a little confusing, but inside it is a lovely, chill vibe.
Hannah O — Google review
I was afraid that it wouldn't be so good because the tickets included the thermal. However, I find the atmosphere really nice with the history of Hungary, the waiters were very nice, and the food was delicious. Of course, the prices were not the cheapest ones, but they are not expensive either. Of course, we pay a little bit for the environment. I have enjoyed it my night there. I wish I had arrived a little early to taste the dessert, but when we were ordered the kitchen was already closed.
DayOff D — Google review
We came here after our spa day and had a voucher for some wine but instead offered palinka which is a Hungarian liquor, gentleman who served us was awesome giving his opinion on which drinks to pair with one another! Overall great experience and would recommend to any tourist! Spoke English very well too! 🙏

If you find yourself in Budapest, indulging in Lángos Papa is a must for any food lover, especially vegetarians. This delightful eatery specializes in the beloved Hungarian street food known as lángos—fried dough that’s typically topped with a luscious layer of sour cream and an ample sprinkle of cheese.
For 10 euros you get 3 dishes: starter, main course and dessert. Here you can t4y goulash soup and langos. It tasted very good.
Erika S — Google review
Overpriced. If you want real langos, go to some local place and have it. This is too touristic place. Except it, service is slow, waiters are not professional. Avoid it unless you have bag of money and want to be seen. If you still come here, as garlic on your langos, because it is tasteless without it. Because they have menu deal, maybe two persons can eat one menu? It will be enough.
Gandra P — Google review
We ordered two sets for 10€ each. It was worth the prize. Langos was a little bit too tender and greasy. The women was really nice. Great spot ☺️

Definitely recommend.

Nice place to have a quick meal but still get the local touch. Staff was nice and helpful. The quality-price ratio is really good. I only had the Langos without starters or dessert and it was quite enough for dinner. I ordered the cheese and sour cream topping, definitely too much cheese but that's up to my personal taste. Taste was good though, and price was around 5-6 euros for the Langos alone and 10 euros for the menu. My partner had the Goulash soup, around 3 euros and decent quality.

Must do! Great opportunity to try a flight of 3 Hungarian wines, under the guidance of our exceptional sommelier. We started with a frizzante, as good as some of the best champers. Follwed by a white for me (verde), a red (pino-g) and finished off with an Aszu Tokaji (less sweet than trad T) is fab. Loved all the information received and all of our questions were answered with consideration. Great experience. BTW we did our tasting in the shop- small and intimate; a larger group setting is available across the street if you wish.

Street food heaven in the heart of Budapest! Bors Gastrobar is a tiny but legendary spot in the Jewish Quarter, and it absolutely lives up to its reputation. The place is quirky, with Star Wars-themed decor, and the vibe is casual, fun, and full of energy. I tried the Pulled Pork baguette and it was phenomenal. Their daily soups are also a highlight; I had a traditional beef goulash soup that was rich and comforting. Everything is made fresh, and the flavors are bold and creative. The staff were super friendly and happy to recommend dishes. Prices are very reasonable (most items under €10), and they offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, which is a big plus. Tips: Go early or off-peak to avoid long queues. Try a soup + baguette combo—it’s their signature. Great spot for a quick bite before exploring the city. Would I go back? 100% yes. It’s one of those places where you can taste the passion in every bite. A must-visit for street food lovers in Budapest.

Only had the Medellini soup and Philly sandwich, but the soup is mindblowingly good! These guys know their flavors. Will definitely come back for more of the soups and try a different sandwich. Well done you guys!
Eric C — Google review
When it comes to the food quality, I’d just say: you have to try it, period. But I want to talk about other details like the amazing energy you get from the staff from the moment you walk in until they take your order. It’s clear that every single person puts their full passion into the process. Despite the small space, the restaurant is designed in an incredibly creative way, with a Star Wars theme scattered throughout. The menus are written in chalk on blackboards mounted on the walls. As they call themselves, it’s a “street restaurant” but not like the typical ones that are crowded, messy, and unorganized. Here, it’s the highest possible quality. Loyal to the spirit of street dining, they operate with constant, uninterrupted speed and efficiency. This is, without a doubt, the best street restaurant in Budapest by far.

Local Korner Astoria is a cozy and vibrant restaurant located in the heart of Budapest. It offers large wood oven pizzas at an affordable price, making it a great option for budget-conscious travelers. The restaurant has a rock music ambiance and fast service, allowing visitors to quickly continue their exploration of the city. One unique feature is the impressive world map on the wall where guests can leave their mark by writing messages.
We’ve known local corner for several years now. Every time we visit Budapest, we have at least one pizza there. They do an excellent pizza: thin and crispy dough with a lot of variations in toppings. Service is excellent and attentive. A very friendly pizza place. My favourite pizza is Pizza Buffala with sundried romatoes, buffalo mozzarella and green pesto. Prices are moderate and every pizza is worth its price. We recommend that you give it a try when you don’t want to dine for two hours but just want to have a good pizza before you go to a club or to a concert.

The pizza was not good. We expected a lot better from the pictures and the reviews online. The crust was not as fluffy as it looks on the pictures and the pizza did not have enough sauce. I got vegan cheese which was way too much and a super weird consistency. The prosciutto on the pizza was not real prosciutto and super thick. Wouldn’t go back.

The worst pizza I ever had. I genuinely don't understand good reviews. We got pizza with pepperoni, although we asked for one without them. Dough was neither fluffy nor crunchy, was somehow thin, dry and felt undone. Pizza came with plenty of cheese, that didn't taste good.

The place is being refurbished and we were doubting if too stay. We decided to stay. The pizza was filling and really good. Highly recommended, prices reasonable! Our photos shows proof of how good the pizza was.

Good spot with fair prices for a quick pizza. The idea of a wall where you can write and sign is fun. Friendly service.
Giovanni Z — Google review
We recommend if you want a good quick food and don't need anything fancy. Basically better fast food. Pizza was good. Stuff was friendly but not exactly attentive. Music was little but too aloud. English was not perfect, but we ordered without a problem. Card payments possible. Visited 09/25.
Trubky C — Google review
Food, service, and atmosphere were good but I’m giving 1 star solely because of the 400 HUF takeaway fee. Charging this much just for a box is unreasonable and leaves a bad impression. If the price of the pizza already included this cost, it would be acceptable, but adding it separately feels like squeezing extra money out of customers. This isn’t about the amount. It’s about fairness and principle.

Pizza Takeout
Pizzica is a charming pizza parlor located in Budapest's District 6, known for its Roman-style rectangular slices that are perfect for take-out. Run by the de Bartolomeo brothers from Southern Italy, this small joint offers a selection of moist, high-gluten dough pizzas with a chewy texture and crispy crust. The industrial-style setting provides an intimate atmosphere with the option for upstairs seating. Customers can enjoy various pizza options, all cut with scissors and served on individual pizza boards.
I went here 5 times in the 4 days I stayed in Budapest. No clue what pizza I ordered but it was some of the best pizza I have ever had and it was cheap. The crust was super crispy every time and the pizza had a perfect dough to sauce to toppings ratio. The atmosphere matches the city to a T as well. This place is one of the first things that comes to mind when I think of Budapest.

Love the crust, the sauce, the ingredients. They always have a variety of slices with or without cheese or meat. The sauce is quite rich tasting, either regular or spicy. I've eaten here or taken away several times and it's been consistently good. They sometimes have potato and mushrooms which is surprisingly good, with very thinly sliced potato. Their base slice with red sauce and arugula is a nice choice too. Prices are quite reasonable and the slices are ready quickly. Note - in the photos slices have been cut in half for easier eating.

I'm new to Budapest. I was waiting down the street at a highly recommended sit-down restaurant that had a huge line. I decided to look up other award-winning places and came across this gem. As soon as I read about it, my palate was calling for pizza. I showed up and received some excellent recommendations from the kind staff and owner. They suggested I get a slice of the Marinara and a slice of the Bufalo Mozzarella, but hinted that 2 may not be enough! Surely, they were right. I ended up eating 3 slices and could have gotten more. The pizza dough was clearly homemade and fresh. It had a nice rise to it, complemented bit a slight crunch. Perfection. But the real component that stole my heart was the SAUCE. The sauce is flavorful, light, rich, robust all at the same time - I should have asked for more on the side! The garlic, parsley, and green glaze on top of the Marinara slice was TO DIE FOR. I have eaten pizza in Rome and New York City, but this Marinara slice of pizza I ate in Budapest may have been the most memorable slice of pizza in my life. 5 stars. Will be back.

This place serves such beautifully made pizzas, fresh and tasteful!! I cannot stress enough how wonderful they are. Went there twice with a friend during a four day trip lol. So so worth it!

This place is small, but mighty. They have every drink up at the counter so you can see what they have along with the price. They have a variety of pizza, we tried 5 different types of pizza and we loved every single one. Lady at the counter was friendly. You have the option to eat inside or outside or take-out.

This place has incredibly good pizza. It’s crunchy, has an awesome taste, and offers a variety of options at a super fair price. I highly recommend it.

The pizza was very crispy, with smaller portions and a wide variety to choose from. There are vegetarian options available as well. Overall, it's a nice and budget-friendly place.
