We visited the market hall on a Sunday and were really impressed. The building itself is beautiful, and there are many different stalls offering local delicacies. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the people were very friendly. The only downside was that, since it was Sunday, some of the stalls were closed. Because of that, I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Still, it’s definitely worth a visit!

It is the largest indoor market in Budapest, located at one end of the famous Váci utca. It is located in a building whose facade is built in a neo-Gothic style, very pleasing to the eye and in harmony with the architecture of the neighboring buildings. Inside, on the ground floor you will find many shops with local cold cuts, dairy, wines and other products. In the basement is the fish market. You can reach the upper level by several stairs but also by an escalator, located in close proximity of the main entrance. Access to the shops on the first floor is along corridors that look like balconies. Here are numerous gift/souvenir shops but also the Fakánal Etterem restaurant, which, if you want to taste the flavors of traditional Hungarian food, you must definitely make a stop. We did and we did not regret it. At lunchtime, when we arrived, we had to be a little patient to get to the desired menu, but it was worth it. I treated myself with a goulash soup and a portion of stuffed cabbage rolls. Everything was very tasty. I consider this place to be recommended to visit.

Lots of fresh food of all varieties, including meat, vegetables and baked goods. Paprika of every flavor and size. Goodies to eat and souvenirs for the trip home. It can be very crowded so have some patience. Many of the vendors are closed on Sunday, especially the fresh food vendors.

A traditional and interesting market to visit in Budapest. It’s worth checking out for its architecture and the variety of local products like spices, wines, and embroidered goods. It’s also a nice spot to buy souvenirs, but prices tend to be a bit higher, especially at the shops near the entrance.

Architecture wise it’s a beautiful building and so we only spent a few minutes inside as the numerous market stalls didn’t really appeal to us. You can however find various stalls to suit various tastes from meats, fish and other food stalls to more traditional Hungarian shops. There were also a number of restaurants inside.

One of the best places to eat if you're living near this area. The service and the taste is amazing with perfect ambience and cleanliness. Charming waiters adds very positively to the whole atmosphere. Keep it up!

The perfect place for a nutritious breakfast. The service was very friendly and helpful. The dishes we chose were delicious and filling. The dessert was the perfect ending to our breakfast, and it was delicious. I highly recommend it, and if we come back, we'll definitely visit again.

Had a cute little brekkie with my friend for the very first time at Brunch Bistro Budapest. The English Breakfast was sooo delicious and the view was simply the best!🥞🥓☀️ Every dish is elegantly plated with refined aesthetic appeal, complementing a depth of flavor that is rich and flavorful. The service was nice and welcoming. Might come back to have a taste of their Eggs Benedict though!

We had dessert French toast (lemon blueberries and butterscotch berries) for a brunch with cappuccinos. Both were very tasty and well presented. Good service and lots of people with assorted egg dishes that looked wonderful too.

I went to New York Cafe in Budapest to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, and it was honestly a terrible experience. I spoke with the waiter beforehand to bring a dessert with a candle after we finished our meal. After eating, we waited a very long time, watching other tables get cakes with candles while nothing came to ours. I went to another waiter to remind him about the dessert — he said okay, but again, nothing happened. Eventually, we asked for the bill, and guess what? The dessert was added to it even though it never arrived. I told them I wouldn’t pay for something that was never brought, and only then did a lady finally come with the dessert — with the candle already blown out — and asked my boyfriend if it was his birthday. Seriously, who does that? It completely ruined the moment. We waited forever, the food was not worth the hype, and the service was unbelievably poor. I understand it’s a busy place, but that just shows what happens when there’s no competent management. Definitely not worth even one star.

My mom & I visited the café on two different days, and both experiences were absolutely wonderful. The stunning interior and elegant atmosphere make it a must-visit in Budapest it truly feels like dining inside a palace! On our first day, Gergely, who attended to us was very professional and composed. I believe he’s one of the managers, and his presence and attention to detail made a great impression On our second day, we were warmly attended by Stefi, who was always smiling, attentive, and genuinely kind. Her positive energy made our visit extra special. The food, coffee, and desserts were excellent, but it’s really the staff. If you're lucky enough to be served by Stefi you're in for a treat! 🌟

The place is quite touristy, and even on a late weekday evening there was still a short queue. Despite its large size with at least two floors, it was packed, and the tables felt very close together. The interior is undeniably beautiful, though it could use better maintenance and cleanliness. As expected, the menu items are on the pricey side. I’m not complaining since we’re tourists ourselves, but it’s probably not the best choice if you’re after a relaxed atmosphere.

Stunning Setting with Room for Service Improvement New York Café is one of the most beautiful cafés in the world, with a breathtaking interior that feels like stepping into a palace. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Budapest, and it’s absolutely worth visiting for the atmosphere alone. The food is good, though not exceptional, and the service could be better. The staff seem quite used to the constant flow of tourists, so the experience can feel a bit rushed or impersonal at times. Still, it’s a must-see spot for its incredible architecture and history. If you go, take your time to enjoy the surroundings, it’s an unforgettable place to have coffee or dessert, even if the service isn’t as polished as the setting.

During a city break with the girlies, we booked a table through their website (totally recommend). Everything went smoothly, no waiting in line and we even got the best table on the balcony. We loved the beautiful design, the live music, and the food was fantastic (I had the Gulyás — the best I’ve ever tasted). A special thanks to Teodora for her amazing service. Initially we were allocated in this annex room down the bottom. It was very disappointing as you can’t even hear the music. My review would have been 1 star. Luckily I decided to speak to the manager and we were kindly moved to the upper room where the experience met the expectation and I had the most amazing blueberry cheesecake coup hearing the music and seeing the musicians. The experience downstairs was terrible. Forgotten with the underdogs. It’s impossible to have a great experience there as you will be saddened by the prices in a regular room. In my opinion that room should not be used unless they put a musician playing down there. Even the food felt average whilst we sat there. Life was different on the upper floor and I strongly reccomend you to complain about your seat in case you are taken to the dark room far from the magic. We had an amazing experience and it was worth every cent once sat on the upper level. I would definetely return.

Coffee shop with a lot of history. Great coffee and very nice cakes, the Ruszwurm custard cake was delicious. Avoid the lemonade; many people left it unfinished. Unfortunately, it's a popular tourist spot, so the shop is always very busy, and the service was very poor.

The cake was highly popular. I guess we are not for it as it had lots of cream but it is a cream cake so it’s only natural. It tasted good though. We just wanted to try this cafe as it has a long history. If you sit indoors, it is warm though so maybe sitting outdoors would be much better😀

We came for the Kremes ( Vanilla Cream Slice) and stayed for the Almond cake. Last visit was 8yrs ago and it is exactly as we remember. Yes the wait might be long to get a table and the staff are busy, but that's because it is so good. There are lots of beautiful places to sit not too far from the cafe so if the line is long, grab it to go. We visited twice this time around and great both times

Historic and popular café near Buda Castle, but a bit overrated. We waited in a long queue for an outdoor table. Tried three recommended pastries—none were particularly impressive. Staff wasn’t friendly. Not accessible for wheelchairs—there are 3–4 steps at the entrance.

Good coffee and cream cake. The reason I gave it 1 star is because the service was bad. This cafe is known for its cream cake. Upon arrival I ordered 4 coffees and 4 cream cakes. We then got 4 coffees promptly and then just got 1 cream cake. I asked where the other 3 were and the server said they were sold out. Why couldn't he tell me this earlier? Secondly, this cafe is famous for cream cake, how could they sell out of such an iconic item

If you’re a fan of desserts and tasty pastries, you must try their pastries. You will not be disappointed. I bake a lot and what I tried was heavenly. Congrats for making cakes and baked goodies for almost 200 years. Food: 5+/5 - we had the crème cake, caramel cake and Eszterhazy torta! My favorite was the Ruszwurm cake. They even have cookies and gluten free options. Try their assorted drinks and ice creams. I had the sour cherry lemonade which was full of fruity taste. They also offer takeout if you choose not to wait. Service: 5/5 the servers outside did a wonderful job with the crowd control as the odd person tried sneaking in. The lineups can get crazy and hectic. Atmosphere: 4/5 - there was outdoor and inside seating.

Lovely place to have a beautiful dinner. Perfectly situated for a walk to zoo, park area or hero’s square. The traditional but upscale cuisine was very delicious. I’ve decided the Hungarian’s are the best soup makers. It was a nice meal with some service hiccups. The waiter did not have the best grasp of the English language and that was fine, but our glasses of libations were left empty for a while before refilling and our empty serving plates were slow to be taken. A couple of waiters noticing were quick to remedy the young waiter and waitress errors. Live music was divine. Definitely a good choice.

Oh my - I’m always cautious of places like these on the basis that they are simply trading on their name after all this time but I couldn’t not have been more wrong! The food was superb but what absolutely made our evening was how expertly Béla guided us through the wine menu and recommended us a bespoke Hungarian wine flight that both matched our preferred wines and our courses. This guy needs to move towards becoming a sommelier as his knowledge was superb. Thanks for a wonderful last evening in Budapest!

I visited Gundel with my mother during our trip to Budapest, as I wanted to treat her to a special dinner. The restaurant’s strong reviews, elegant atmosphere, and reputation for great food made it an easy choice and it certainly lived up to expectations. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. We were warmly welcomed and guided to our table, and throughout the evening the staff were attentive, friendly, and helpful with recommendations whenever we were unsure. The restaurant itself is beautiful and classy, creating the perfect setting for a memorable evening. I started with an Espresso Martini served in a cappuccino-style cup—a creative and delightful touch. For dinner, we chose the meal + starter/soup option. The staff kindly went above and beyond by serving us two bowls of soup rather than asking us to share one, which was a small but very thoughtful gesture. The goulash soup, in particular, was outstanding - tender meat and incredible flavor. Every dish we tried was excellent, and we truly enjoyed the whole dining experience. The only element I personally wasn’t fond of was the live band walking around the tables asking for money after playing. While some guests may enjoy it, I felt it was a bit out of place in such a refined setting. That said, our evening at Gundel was absolutely wonderful. Both the food and the service were exceptional, and I would happily return. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Budapest!

An outstanding lunch between visiting the museum. Old world elegance, the ambiance is part of the experience. Music was excellent. We ordered their multi-course meal, which was a lot of food. The food was delicious, everything well presented. Very popular, so reserve ahead.

Gundel is a classic. You feel it the moment you walk in – the chandeliers, the music, the sense of history. Few places carry that kind of presence. The food was wonderful. The foie gras was deep and balanced, the dessert refined and rich. Everything about the kitchen feels confident and precise. The head waitress was excellent – calm, professional and genuinely attentive. But the choreography of the service wasn’t quite in sync. The rhythm slipped here and there, and in a place like Gundel that flow is part of the experience. Still, it’s an extraordinary restaurant. When it all aligns, you’re reminded why this house has become part of Budapest’s story.

Highly recommended! We visited during Restaurant Week and enjoyed a 3-course meal for just 10,900 HUF. Everything was delicious, especially the chicken soup — it’s the best I’ve ever had.

We visited Gundel twice—first for cake and coffee, which was so delicious and beautifully presented that we booked a table for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. The woman at the front desk gave us a fantastic table (Paul Newman!) and made us feel truly special. The service was some of the best we’ve ever experienced—warm, professional, and attentive without being overbearing. The dinner exceeded all expectations, and the live music created a magical atmosphere. An unforgettable experience from start to finish!

The whole restaurant is 100% gluten free!!! I don't have enough words to describe how good the food was, also for the non-celiacs! Thank you Tomas for the best dinner in Budapest so far! If you're in Budapest visiting Bohemtanya is an absolute must! We will absolutely be back.

What a dream to have a 100% gluten free restaurant! Super friendly staff, and they are quite multilingual, useful for tourists. I had the beef goulash with dumplings and the somloi galuska - both delicious, taste like home cooking but elevated!

Beyond being a great gluten free restaurant, the staff are really lovely, attentive and kind. FOOD: They have a variety of vegetarian and meat dishes, most are traditional Hungarian. Served usually high quality ingredients and priced reasonably. INTERIOR: There were varied areas for private dining with a group, small booths for couples or large tables for bigger groups. ACCESSIBILITY: The whole place seems wheelchair, walker and pram friendly. OVERALL: Great to eat local Hungarian food, safely gluten free. Highly recommend!

Gluten free but lots of soy, which I am allergic to. The waiter was very sweet and attentive about checking my food though. Fast service, solid food, my husband was quite pleased as he is a big beef and potatoes kinda guy.

All gluten free and many fried dishes that I normally never get to taste. We had the bohemian plate for two. Chicken, snitzel and two mushrooms, rice, fries and tartar sauce. Very nice and crispy. Lacking completely in vegetables if you don’t count some raw red onion. The cakes were nothing special. The serving staff did a really good job and were in such a good mood.

I would not recommend this place - yes it is gluten free but unfortunately the overall food quality is really low. No reason not to serve fresh csalamádé (it was soft and old, supposed to be crunchier when fresh) as that’s gluten-free anyway. My hortobágyi húsos palacsinta had watery tomato sauce on it which is not even remotely what it is meant to be on it. The pancake was burnt and we had a bone in the filling. Also it was obvious it was frozen before. We’ve left nearly all of it and wasn’t even asked what was wrong. Then came the main dish, which was the Borzoska - see picture, it’s nothing what it should be. It tasted like it was fried in a two weeks old oil. The Gulyas soup was okay but that’s about is. Also there was no aircon inside which is not ideal when it’s 35+ degrees outside. Overall it’s a shame that gluten free people think this is what Hungarian food is, I would recommend to go somewhere else. Also hoping we just were there on a day where the chef was off or something and this isn’t the standard. Disclaimer: I’ve told them at the end about the starter with the bone and they did take it off of the bill, but in reality also the main should have been taken off.

The food is very tasty. It does not take a long time for the food to be prepared and served, although due to the high volume of clients, the service is definitely slow. In a way to compensate us, they have made a discount, which was very generous from their side.

I went there yesterday, we were around 10 people and we sat upstairs on the private floor. The food we got was excellent also the place was stunning. But our waitress was unfocused and made mistakes with our order. We booked the place for 9 pm and were bot told that the kitchen closed at 9:30pm so we had to oreder quickly. To their credit, they prepared everything quickly despite the mistakes in the order, and we had no complaints about the food.

Natural typical Hungarian restaurant. This place takes Hungarian dishes and elevate them multiple levels up. My duck potatoes and red cabbage was so delicious. I’m not quite sure how they made the red cabbage into the purée they did but it was delicious. That kind of goes with every dish that came out recognizable, but taken to a whole Nother level. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly or attentive. If you want a special night out and are willing to pay a little bit extra for it you will definitely get your moneys worth here.

Had a great start to a trip with stand25. The goulash was delicious, flavourful and had tender beef. The pork dish also had a great sauce. Salmon was cooked perfectly and the risotto (albeit a bit heavy) was yummy as well. A wonderful introduction to Hungarian food!

Our dinner at Stand25 Bistro in Budapest was a real culinary highlight. The open kitchen was the centerpiece of the experience, and we were lucky enough to be seated right in front of it – watching the chefs at work added an extra layer of excitement to the evening. The food was simply outstanding. The lángos and goulash soup were the best we’ve had anywhere in Budapest, rich in flavor and perfectly executed. The salmon on risotto was sensational, with a perfectly crisp skin and a full, balanced taste. The wild boar ragout with homemade round noodles was also excellent. For dessert, both the palacsinta and the Esterházy torte impressed us with their quality. The wine pairing with the main course was well chosen and complemented the dishes beautifully. The service was professional and efficient, though a little more distant compared to the warm and jovial atmosphere we’ve experienced elsewhere. Nevertheless, Stand25 Bistro is absolutely worth a visit. It offers refined Hungarian cuisine in a tasteful setting and is a true gem for those looking for something more sophisticated in Budapest’s dining scene.

We were very lucky to have a table right next to the kitchen, we can look at chefs working on all the dishes as well as the wait staff interacting with the kitchen. That’s made our meal that much more fun. The overall food was very delicious and interesting, the only slight disappointment was the deconstructed pork knuckle plate. Was looking for a full knuckle with skin and all, instead we have only few pieces of meat in some kind of sauce.

Fresh and super tasty food - the warm goats cheese salad and mushroom soup were excellent! Waffles a little overdone but good topping choices. Really sweet staff and super warm considering it was -3 outside!

We ordered creamy broccoli soup, the snack plate and waffles in this cute little place. The broccoli soup came really quickly and it was actually really delicious. The snack plate took some time to arrive, which is understandable since there are a lot of veggies to cut. The veggies were fresh and the bread and the cheese were really good. The tomato salsa and the guacamole not so much, they lacked taste. It took a lot of time to get the waffles, I was about to go ask about them, but then they finally arrived. The gluten free waffle itself was like cardboard, not very good, but fortunately the ice cream and the syrup along with berries made it desserty enough. The staff was super nice though, so props for them for being really really nice. I wish everyone was that nice in Budapest.

The staff was very helpful and friendly, and everyone enjoyed their meal – even those who don’t usually eat gluten-free said the food was excellent. The citrus lemonade was absolutely top! My friend and I went to Herbar yesterday. On the sign it said "Vegan & gluten-free." Unfortunately, we had to pay extra for vegan milk, which was surprising, since in fully vegan places you usually don’t pay more – and we didn’t expect cow’s milk to be offered at all. If we hadn’t specifically asked about the milk, they would have served us cow’s milk by default. Apart from that, the food was good, but the drinks were disappointing. I ordered a smoothie that didn’t taste fresh, it was very cold and felt like it was made with a lot of crushed ice. My friend had a coffee, which also didn’t taste good. It was mixed with too much syrup, the flavor was far from a proper coffee, and again, there was a lot of ice. Unfortunately, our overall experience wasn’t great. Even the staff weren’t particularly friendly when we asked for another coffee. They did make a new one, but only after a bit of discussion. All in all, I’d say it’s a good place to eat, but if you’re looking for a good coffee, we’d recommend going somewhere else.

We ordered 6 different cakes to share and there were all delicious & made with lovely design & full of taste They have a variety of gluten free & vegan cakes which you hardly find anywhere Toilets are downstairs / underground Staff was not aware of allergy so u need to be careful as I asked her for gluten free cake & she said ( yes it’s vegan ) and when I explained vegan means without animal products while gluten free means without wheat or flour she got upset and kept saying ( yes they are vegan ) 🙄🫤 They need more education & awareness of such allergies

An iconic and elegant café in the heart of Budapest. I tried the famous Dobos Cake, a traditional Hungarian dessert made of thin sponge layers, rich chocolate buttercream, and a shiny caramel top. It was absolutely delicious, perfectly balanced and not too sweet. The cake itself has a long history: it was created by József C. Dobos in the late 1800s and became one of the symbols of Hungarian pastry art, once served even to the Austro-Hungarian royal family. The interior of Café Gerbeaud is stunning, with chandeliers, marble tables, and an atmosphere that feels like stepping back in time. Prices are a bit high, but the experience is truly worth it.

We went to this cafe on a weekday afternoon, and the indoor area was full! Beautiful interior design, very elegant. We had the Hungarian classics on one plate, which contained three slices of dessert selections with vanilla ice cream and apricot sauce. To be honest, didn’t expect that’s how the famous Dobo cake tasted like😅it’s just not for the ones with weak teeth.. the top layer was extremely sturdy. We enjoyed the Gerbeaud slice more.

Definitely worth experiencing once. I got there early in the morning and was lucky to be seated immediately, so I reckon it’s best to go in the morning to avoid the bigger crowds. Came for a quick dobos cake and coffee, was very nice and pleasant but I do think there’s a lot of hype (and history) behind this place. Service is a bit slow but that’s to be expected, and the prices are pretty high. But still and enjoyable and memorable experience. Stunning decor and gorgeous building.

Overpriced and not worth the hype. I visited Gerbeaud Café, intrigued by its historic reputation and grand interior, and went specifically to try the famous traditional Hungarian layer cake — Dobos Torte. However, the experience was quite disappointing. We visited after lunch hours and noticed a queue of about 10–12 people outside, even though it moved fairly quickly. Once inside, we were surprised to see the café almost empty. It really felt like they keep people waiting just to create an illusion of high demand — they could easily allocate seats faster. The most shocking part was the pricing. If you choose to dine in, you pay almost double — for example, a slice of Dobos Torte costs 4,250 HUF when eaten on the premises versus 1,990 HUF for takeaway. We decided to go for takeaway instead, and honestly, I’m glad we did. The famous Dobos cake itself was underwhelming — the caramel layer on top was rock hard and nearly impossible to cut, the sponge layers were dry, and the overall taste was overly sweet and unimpressive. An experience I wouldn’t repeat, and definitely not something I’d recommend — especially considering the unreasonable prices.

I didn’t know this place and I was invited there. Very nice old style tea place where you can find food too. The cakes are excellent and the tea and coffee options great. I got a good cake , a lemonade and an espresso martini - excellent for a 5 o’clock moment.

Interesting experience! I saw this all over social media so I was initially sceptical but I would recommend coming here as I don’t think it’s really a tourist trap. The interior concept with the paper notes is very cool and I was not expecting the huge plate of peanuts that every table gets! You throw the peels on the hay cover floor 😂 the food wasn’t mind blowing but it was good. I came for the goulash (which I would recommend!) but also tried the Gipsy pork plate. The staff were friendly.

Our waiter Andy was one of THE BEST waiters we have EVER met! I don’t eat gluten so he was extremely understanding and helpful with that. His recommendations were excellent for food and drink and we also had some of the best plum Pálinka we have ever tried! The music was fab, the vibes were amazing, the décor was SO unique and FUN! It was a great night out that we are always going to talk about!

We came to this pub because we saw good reviews on TikTok. The drinks were amazing and true to their culture. The bartender and wait staff were lovely especially, the bartender Christian. He was very conversational, kind and recommended some lovely drinks to us. For Sale Pub is an absolute must-see in Budapest, primarily for its incredible atmosphere! This pub is famous for the thousands of handwritten notes and papers covering every inch of the walls and ceiling, making it a unique tourist attraction. While the food is perhaps the weakest point, the overall ambiance completely saves the experience. The energy is special, and the waiters were extremely friendly, ensuring our visit was comfortable and welcoming. The massive portions of peanuts and the cozy, chaotic decor make this place an unforgettable spot you simply have to visit while in the city.

We came to this pub due to all the positive reviews and people suggesting it online. We tryed to come also the night before but the line was too long so we came back the day after and we sat upstairs to eat and drink. The place is so special and unique, the walls are covered in notes left by people and the atmosphere is so nice. We got draft beer and a mixture of starters to share. Everytbing was so good and the waiters were extremely friendly! This pub 100% deserves its hype and i think everyone who is in Budapest should come here at least once!

When you see the cue outside of a place… that’s the place where to it! We just saw a long cue(30 minutes) and we diceded to give this place a try… and we were right! Food is amazing, inside is amazing and service is fast and kind! AAA - free peanuts for all! Highly recommended! 😉

Such a unique place - as a tourist you HAVE to go. Buzzing place at night but particularly I recommend going during the day. You get to see how great this place is and everything it has. Day drinking in a ruin bar will easily become the highlight.

I don’t go to bars, so I haven’t experienced Szimpla Kert at night, but visiting during the Sunday market was really nice! From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., local producers offer a wide range of fresh and artisanal products, including breads, cheeses, honey, jams, yogurts, pasta, and traditional Hungarian sweets. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and entry is free—perfect for anyone wanting to explore the local culture in an authentic way.

Such a cool and new experience for me! I went both day and night, and they both had two very different vibes. I would recommend getting a coffee in the morning to explore the flea market as well and at night visiting around 7-8pm to avoid the queue (weekend) and grabbing a cherry ale. The cherry ale was lovely and the interior blew my mind. Strongly recommend to visit!

We visited early evening around 6pm and it was busy but very very touristy. And the service is very poor, plus the drinks are so expensive - we would not go back here as it’s not a “local” experience. So many other places around here with much more atmosphere and authenticity. It’s a series of rooms spread over two floors and centered around a large open courtyard. Saying that, I’m glad we went to see what the hype was all about. But I believe that if you’re in your 20’s then this place is where it all happens and it starts to come into its own after 11pm and into the early hours of the morning!

A visit to Cirkusz is definitely a great place for brunch and breakfast in Budapest, and it seems to be very popular for a good reason. The place has a great, lively atmosphere, perfect for a weekend morning, and it quickly becomes clear that this is a spot that takes its food and service seriously. However, you should be prepared for the prices. They are definitely "for tourists," and you'll notice it right away on the menu. But in this case, the quality truly justifies the cost. We had the guacamole toast, and it was perfectly made with fresh, creamy avocado on excellent bread. The Lebanese eggs were a fantastic find—a rich and flavorful dish that was a delicious change from the usual breakfast fare. The salmon bagel was also excellent, with a generous portion of fresh, smoky fish. And the coffee was more than delicious; it was a perfect, expertly brewed cup that was a real treat to start the morning. The service was also great, with the staff being friendly and attentive. In the end, while it's not a cheap option, you absolutely get what you pay for. The great food and service make it a worthwhile place to go for a truly good brunch that will leave you feeling satisfied. It’s a good example of a place that lives up to its hype and is worth the premium price for the quality you receive.

The presentation of the food is beautiful, and the service is friendly and professional. However, once you get past the first impression, the experience doesn’t quite live up to the hype. The menu is creative and well-curated, with plenty of brunch classics, but the portions are noticeably small for the price. It’s definitely on the expensive side, especially compared to other great cafés in Budapest that offer similar or even better quality at a lower cost. You might find yourself leaving still a bit hungry, not exactly ideal for a hearty morning meal. That said, the food itself is good. The eggs are cooked perfectly, the coffee is strong and well-made, and everything looks like it came straight from a food magazine. Still, the high prices and limited portions make it hard to justify as a regular spot, unless you’re specifically after the experience rather than the meal. In short, Cirkusz Café is a nice place to visit once, especially if you want a stylish brunch setting and don’t mind paying extra for presentation and ambiance. But if you’re after good value, generous servings, and a more relaxed feel, there are plenty of better options around the city. It’s lovely, just not quite worth the hype or the price tag.

Actually we had a good breakfast. The recovery breakfast was good enough to fill you up. The roast beef benedict was different but good, I never had this kind of benedict that has a roast beef 10/10. Wait time to be seated is around at least 10 minutes. It was a tasty breakfast overall.

Always a perfect start to the day! Cirkusz Café has been my favorite breakfast spot in Budapest for years. The food is always delicious, and I have huge respect for the chefs who work tirelessly from early morning till afternoon - yet the quality never drops. The bartenders and waiters are true hard workers too - they never seem to have a single free moment, yet they always remain friendly and professional. Every time I come back to Budapest, I make sure to visit, and it makes me genuinely happy to see a line forming outside - it means the team is doing everything right. Always friendly, always tasty, always warm and welcoming. And, of course, it’s always a pleasure to watch the handsome guys cooking your food!☺️

I loved this place. Went here for breakfast and it was so great that we went back the following morning for breakfast. I had the turkish eggs and it was so tasty. Had a cortado drink which was nice and strong. Price, service and atmosphere is great!! Highly recommend.

Love that very beautiful Grand cafe. Very well managed, excellent service, delicious food, beautiful decor. Even the bathroom area is very beautiful. We went there 3 time, excellent breakfast with musicians who played from 10am. Indoor is so georgous and the outdoor terrace is so nice to sit at. I prefer this Cafe than some of most historical cafes recommended in Vienna, so bravo Budapest 👏. When in Budapest you must visit.

We very much enjoyed our Sunday brunch experience at the Centrál Grand Cafe. The food choices were incredible. All four of us ordered different things and were extremely happy with our selections. The entrees were very well prepared and presented beautifully. Desserts were exquisite! When I took the first bite of my pistachio raspberry torte I declared it “heaven on a plate”. The atmosphere was greatly enhanced by live music provided by a talented cellist and pianist. Laci, our server, was so friendly, offered suggestions, made sure we were happy and was one of the best waiters we experienced in Budapest. While the New York Cafe has a lavish atmosphere, I preferred the Centrál Grand Cafe: food, choices of drinks, service, music, wait time, noise level, space for tables, and prices were all significantly better.

Amazing cafe in the center of Budapest. Our server Laci was very attentive and caring while we were having our desserts. We tried the Hungarian dessert set and it was very deliccious. Complimentary prosecco was also very nice. But, the waitress/server who greeted us at the front seemed very exhausted and took a very big noticeable sigh while taking us to the table. Other than that, everything was nice.

It’s a fine dining restaurant located on a quite street. It has limited sitting so I believe reservation is required. They had a tasting menu for caviar and it was such a great experience.

We chose to go a la carte but had the most amazing amuse bouche as a surprise, as well as a beautiful surprise little chocolate birthday cake which came in a music box and some tiny surprise desserts. Service was fantastic and the sommelier suggestions exquisite (especially the tokai).

The new Chef and the menu is marvellous. My personal favourite was the dessert! It is really incredible to see that a Restaurant with such history can renew itself. I would go back and try the whole menu again.

Two tasting menus, one fish, one red meat dominant. Pairing options available for each chef menu. The desert is mind blowing, amazing composition of layering with grapefruit and kumquat. Portions appear delicate but you will not go away hungry. Highly recommend its traditional Hungarian fish tasting menu!

A reservation is required, so it is better to make it instead of just showing up. My request was to sit outside and it was really nice eating and enjoying the beautiful views. The food was delicious, the waiter/waitress was nice and friendly. The only issue we had was that when asked to pay in cash (Euro), and then we overheard the waitress telling another customer that she didn't recommend paying cash in Euro because you will end up spending more than usual but she never mentioned it to us.Not recommend to pay in Euro. Overall very nice and beautiful. Recommend to visit it.

The food was pretty decent. But the portion sizes were astronomical for Budapest. Our waiter was top notch and attentive. The drinks were okay but were crazy expensive for what was provided. I think you are paying more for the name and location rather than the food and drinks provided. The price just does not match up. The brownie was good. Rich for sure.

A nice place to take in the views of Budapest! We made a reservation via Opentable for the afternoon and the tables were full but not overcrowded. We enjoyed some non-alcoholic beverages and a few appetizers while enjoying the bright sun and perfect location. The tartare was not something I would order again, but the hummus was outstanding.

We visited Leo from Florida on our very first day in Budapest, and it was the perfect introduction to this beautiful city. The view was absolutely stunning, the atmosphere was relaxed yet classy, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. A special thank you to our server Theo, for his kindness and outstanding service, he went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. We’d also like to give special thanks to the lovely curly black haired lady who hosted us and managed to fit us in even in rush hours without reservations. Their professionalism and warm hospitality really stood out and made our evening even more enjoyable. Budapest has completely captured our hearts, and this rooftop was the highlight of our first night. We’ll definitely be visiting again before we leave, highly recommended! :)

In general, a very nice rooftop bar/restaurant. The food was very nice however the portions were very small. We ordered the fillet mignon and the mini cheeseburgers. To be fair, you rarely find these prices for this type of food in other places but Budapest is in general relatively cheap. The cheesecake was extremely good and the cocktails are also very good. However, we had some problems with the table we were seated at, since we were in a far corner and couldn’t really see the view which ruined the mood a bit and makes it feel like it’s not really worth it. However at the end of our dinner we were moved to a better spot which sort of made up for that. So make sure to book in advance and ask for a good table since space is limited. In general, a very nice place for dinner and drinks but again, portions are a bit small.

If you are looking for a place with a nice view then this is your place. Nice ambience, music and comfortable seating. Nice service. If you are a claustrophobic person you might find the elevator a little bit challenging since it’s very small and with no air conditioning.

We had 5 different tastes of macarons, and all of them were good! Not too sweet but fully filled with each flavor and very soft. To be honest, I prefer Korean styled Macarons which are very crispy outside and chewy inside. However, we really enjoyed their interior of the shop and all the designs of packages they have. This cafe made my day! This will be one of the best items for gift to lovers!

We tried two types of macarons — Marcel Dark Chocolate and Jägermeister Orange. The Jägermeister Orange had a unique and refreshing flavor, something new and different to try, while the dark chocolate one was a classic — rich and perfectly balanced. Lovely place for quality macarons!

I stumbled into this place by accident while exploring the city, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Macarons were really delicious, I had to come back for a second round. 🤭 I’ll probably come back again when I come to Budapest.

I’m not a big fan of macarons, however I’m not giving 4 stars for them, but for the service and prices. The macarons tasted good according to my friend, however when we were ordering and paying the cashier mentioned the tip option (mind you, you have to go order yourself, so basically self-service), and when I put 0% for tip, she gave me a disgusting look. It’s a shame that is even an option when there is no table service.

Lovely French style pastry shop in the heart of Budapest, selling high quality desserts, coffee and hot chocolate. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Personally I’m not a big macaron fan, but even I find theirs delicious, easily on par with famous stores in Paris. What I highly recommend is their Hot Chocolate with gingerbread. It’s the best hot chocolate in the city and I find myself coming here every other day for it. If you have a sweet tooth, craving authentic french macarons or just a heartwarming hot chocolate to start your day off then this is the place for you. Don’t miss out on this little gem.🎀

The place is lovely, and the staff are very friendly. I usually don’t like macarons, but the macarons at this place are truly irresistible, not to mention the wide variety of flavors. There are also other types of desserts and several types of drinks. You can either buy to take home or sit and enjoy the desserts. However, note that the space is not large enough during winter for many customers, but it is suitable for a dessert shop. Highly recommended if you want to try macarons for the first time or if you already love them and want to elevate your experience. 👌👌 Even though the prices light be a little expensive but it worth it 💕 A very delightful experience!

The food was excellent. I had grilled goat cheese, which was high-quality and perfectly prepared. The salad that came with it was a bit old-school, but I guess it suits the style of the cuisine. My husband had halászlé, and it was truly delicious. We finished with a sweet touch—chocolate soufflé. There was nothing to complain about. We will definitely be back!

We visited this place as it was a childhood favorite of mine when i still lived in Hungary and it hasn’t changed a bit! The food was overall tasty - save for a few questionable side options, like the potato donuts that are served with the venison - but definitely a bit more on the pricey side. Nonetheless the atmosphere of the restaurant makes up for it, and their desserts were superb!

A fantastic classic Hungarian restaurant! The fish soup is excellent, and the Somlói galuska dessert is even better. Definitely order it — you won’t be disappointed.

Náncsi Néni is an authentic Hungarian restaurant that I’ve visited a few times already. The food is consistently great and genuinely Hungarian, paired with a nice and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant can get full quite fast, so it’s definitely worth making a reservation before visiting. That said, I find the place a little overhyped and quite pricey for what it offers. The menu is somewhat limited, but everything I’ve tried has been really tasty and well-prepared. The location is a bit far from the city center, so coming by car is convenient — just note that parking can be a bit limited. Overall, it’s a great spot if you want to try authentic Hungarian cuisine in a charming setting.

In the summer, their courtyard is always open, where you can enjoy your food and drinks in the shade of the trees. The food is delicious, authentic Hungarian cuisine. The portions are generous but not excessive. The service is quick, and the cooking and grilling are done to a good standard. Prices are slightly above average. In the winter, seating can be limited, as they primarily use the main dining hall. A few things to keep in mind: There is virtually no parking (space for 3-4 cars at most). Parking on the grass or further down the street will result in a fine. The police come by almost every hour and are quick to issue tickets. When ordering, it's better to ask for the chef's or the waiters' recommendations. Trust me, it's a better option than guessing from the menu. The place has the simple, rustic cleanliness of a country house gazebo. Don't expect a spotless, gleaming environment. Come with a good mood! I honestly did not expect to find gluten-free & vegan langos in Budapest, but this restaurant made it possible even for people with food intolerancies. That is awesome. There is enough chairs to sit inside or outside, no need to book a reservation. This place is very popular, but staff are working really fast. Standard langos is prepared in 2-3 minutes, for gluten-free langos I had to wait around 10 minutes, but it was completely fine for me. The portion is quite generous, I was really full after eating it. Taste was awesome, just like regular langos although this was vegan & gluten-free. Next time I will just ask for more garlic, otherwise it was simply perfect. I know where to stop next time when I am in Budapest.

LOVED the place, so budget friendly, fast, tasty AND clean! For 3 people we paid a total of 38€ (with drinks!) I recommend the Langos with ham and rucolla and the one with chicken tzatziki! Also, for drinks I recommend the Dreher Meggy (has a sweet cherry taste). Would definitely come here again and recommend this place to a friend visiting Budapest :)

We were told to try the Langos while in Budapest. We chose Retro for a combination of convenience and after searching other nearby restaurants for Langos. We were thinking it would be sit down type restaurant, but you order your Langos at one counter, and your drink at another, which was fine. The food came out quick, afterall, the Langos can be fried/prepared fairly quickly and then topped with your favorites. We enjoyed what we had. Surprised these haven't been introduced here in the states.

Surprisingly good! I was quite concerned about it being fried at first but it wasn't greasy at all. The portion is big and could be more than enough for one person. I was just a bit scared we won't get a table but the turnover is quite fast. People eat and don't linger.

I got the recommendation to try Hungarian langos here. Place is quite big indoor plus outdoor seating. Service was fantastic. I tried their classic vegetarian Langos. Taste good. So many different varieties available. One is more than enough. Must try place in Budapest.

Absolutely loved the vegetarian options. Food was prepared fresh and served at perfect temperature. Presentation 💯. We tried the spinach ricotta lasagna and the fried cottage cheese pancake with salad.

I used to come here a lot during my student years - the huge choice of pancakes, savory and sweet, and good prices with perfect location make it hard to pass. They also have very nice lemonades.

Looking for a proper pancake experience. Savoury / Sweet, with a huge selection of each. I decided to get the Nutella and sherry cherry, no regrets. Staff were cheerful and efficient. Vibe was really good. And they were fairly busy 10mins after opening. This is a great place just 2mins from the Bascilica and charging realistic prices.

Lovely pancakes. We both had sweet pancakes. The pancakes are huge so you could even share between two people...unless you want to try as many different options as possible. Vanilla cream and cottage cheese Sherry soaked cherry and vanilla - definitely recommended The place is very hot in the middle of summer. It had fans, but really it needs aircon. The people working there were very nice and welcoming.

Me and my boyfriend usually love it here and have been at least 2-3 times before. Today however, I was served near raw eggs on my dish (see photo). I couldn’t finish my food as I was avoiding the white parts of the egg and when I politely told the server that the eggs were too raw, she just told me that this is “just the texture” and “she knows it can be weird”. Nothing.. no apology etc. Didn’t even take my plate. This isn’t a cheap brunch place and I couldn’t even eat what I paid for. Very disappointing especially when I’ve been before :(

We visited this cafe on a local friend's recommendation. It was fantastic. The flat white was simply delicious. I could sense the high quality speciality beans. Good brunch options on the menu. I really loved their shakshuka. The ambience is great, also ideal for remote working. The serving staff seemed a bit lost, that could be because of the language issue. It's also just 35 mins away from the airport. We made a stop here on our short layover in Budapest.

My overall experience was good. But i did not like the green eggs. It was soo cold as if it came directly from fridge. The shakshuka was good though. Staff were really nice also.

This was my place to try in Budapest and what a lovely last surprise!🤍 I had the avocado toast 10/10 with a tangy little salad on the side I really loved it! Also I got a V60 and the total was approx 7,095 HUF per person it was a bit pricy but worth it promise !

Disappointing experience. The food is way overpriced for what you get. Naturally, you’d expect it to be tasty, but unfortunately, it lacked even the basics — not a hint of salt. Worse, it had a strange taste, almost like detergent, which made it inedible for me. To top it off, not a single staff member came to check on us during the entire 40 minutes we were there. Very disappointing overall.

I love this place. The staff are very kind. We used the coworking space — it was very comfortable and convenient. The cakes are also delicious!

This restaurant on the first floor of the market was a real gem! We ordered the breaded chicken and fried cheese—both were excellent. The breading was perfectly crispy, the portions were huge for the price, and unlike some other reviews mentioned, the chicken was super juicy and not dry at all! The side dish was not to our taste but the overall experience made up for it. The owner was incredibly friendly, took the time to chat with us, and gave great recommendations. Definitely worth a stop before exploring the market!

As others have said, the pork schnitzel is huge, roughly the size of a keyboard. It is freshly deep fried on order placement, to ensure it is at its best when served. It's tender and delicious. The potato salad is cold and delicious as well. The fried pork ear is also very good, with sticky pork skin melting in your mouth. You get two pieces of ear with tartar sauce and potato salad. Overall we liked the schnitzel better but both should be tried if you have the stomach. They do help you put leftover in takeaway box if you can't finish. Highly recommended! In fact we tried three times to get in because it's been closed for 4 days during easter holidays. But it is well worth the effort!

The best Schnizel in Budapest. The restaurant is located inside the 2nd district market. It is a little pricey however you do get the quality you are paying for. The soup and schnizel are fantastic and on Saturdays they have the BEST crispy roasted pork knuckle Ive ever had. The portions are HUGE and can easily be split by 2 and still be a full meal. They have a good selection of wine and their potatoe and beet salads are also spectacular! Parking is a pain but it is a 1 minute walk from Szel Kalman square where Metro 2 has a stop and a bunch of trams and buses.

Huge portions and deliciously crispy snitzel. We got the classic pork as well as the duck liver, with sides of potato salad and pickled vegetables. Everything tasted amazing. We were stuffed!

Very nice coffee station. Very good quality of coffee, a variety of pastries and few sandwiches and juices (not fresh). Very polite and good staff, menu is also available in English. There are tables inside and outside. Clean and tidy space. You can find a lot of this brand of coffee shop in town. Prices are normal for tourists. It is highly recommended

Delicious food in a cozy place next to the Synagogue. We had Benedict eggs, club sandwiches, some sweets and everything was very good. We had breakfast here every morning during our stay in Budapest. Also, I'd like to express gratitude to the service: I accidentally put salt instead of sugar in my drink 😅 so I asked for another one and they didn't charge me for it!

I’ve loved this place for years! Their almond croissants and pistachio pastries are my absolute favorites, the eggs Benedict is always solid, and the coffee with fresh-squeezed orange juice makes for a perfect breakfast any day. I come back here again and again whenever I’m in the city — worth every penny!

The food was delicious, we've been there two times out of three days spent in Budapest. On the first day we wanted to try everything from the menu, and ordered more food (the pictures are from the second day). We had an authentic French experience with croissants 🥐, baguette 🥖, butter 🧈, and jam. Also, we tried the foie gras with fig jam - it was so tasty, you have to try it once. I highly recommend this cozy, little French corner in the middle of the city. 🤤

The egg fougasse was the best thing I had in Budapest. The egg was cooked to protection! However, you need to arrive early to get one! We came in and there was 2 egg fougasses left, by the time we left they were gone (I know because I tried to order another one after I realized how amazing it was and they were out). The croissant sandwich was our second favorite! This is a MUST for your Budapest travel plans!

Best coffee we've had in Europe so far. We ordered the Hungarian breakfast. Not only was it delicious, but it kept us going all day.

Against my making criteria which is strict, three stars is above average and worth a visit. Generally it’s reliable and consistent. In places like this I recommend you order simply and you’ll unlikely be disappointed. On this visit the Hollandaise sauce was cold and the poached eggs were not runny. It also had an unnecessary salad garnish which isn’t really breakfast like but overall it tasted reasonably good. The service was cordial and they spoke English. Of you can’t find somewhere else then this is a good place to go. Great cafe. Very basic and plain decor outside but we thought we'd try it. What a lovely surprise. The service was fantastic, baklava was delicious and coffees good too. So reasonably priced. The interior was a traditional gem. We will be back for a beer later!

A wonderful stop during a busy day in Budapest to slow down and enjoy a cozy, dimly lit cup of Turkish coffee and a warm pita snack. The offerings are well priced and tasty, the seating comfy and cozy. Great atmosphere and certainly a place to spend a rainy afternoon.

Will you feel amazing in this place? For sure, starring by the service and the coffee. The coffee is first class better in company of a piece of baklava that is made in house. Sandwiches are delicious and you have the Shisha as an option. The best sunny place or shady as you wish in front of heroes Square nothing comparable to that visit. Do not miss it.

To see that there is a cafe in which there is a Turkish flag was very good feeling. They designed interior very well. It is an environment which makes you to feel very well and comfortable, is suitable for Turkish culture. There are every types of Turkish beverages and the other types but there is only baklava that i saw as food. If they introduce to serve foods, it will be very good. The quality of baklava and beverages was good. The baklavas were fresh.

It’s a nice place but the menu can be improved especially for food. There are not much options to eat.

Café Kara is a nice place for a coffee break or a refreshing drink. The service is impeccable, the waiters are attentive and present. I had a relatively good coffee, a hot chocolate and a Turkish cake, baklava, with little or no taste (apart from being very sweet, but that's normal). The prices are in line with the good area in which the pub is located. The toilet is to be avoided.

We had a great time on a sunny autumn afternoon after going for a stroll with our 1-month old in the Varosliget Park. If you're ever in the area, after visiting Varosliget and/or Hősök tere, and you want to be energized or are craving a sweet treat, then you definitely have to stop here. They have great coffee and wonderful cakes. You must try their baklava selection - it's really nice! The service is really fast and good and the staff is friendly and warm. The atmosphere is delightful and it makes for a nice place to hang out with friends and family.

We came here for brunch and had the Turkish eggs, a savory toast, an espresso tonic, and a chai latte. The Turkish eggs were excellent – plenty of high-quality yogurt served with fresh sourdough bread. Delicious! The chai latte was beautifully balanced – not overly sweet, full of flavor, and incredibly comforting. We also appreciated that pets are welcome – we were there with our dog and had no issues at all. There is a 12% service fee, but the staff kindly asked if they could include it and whether everything was okay, which we found very respectful. We were very happy with the service, so we would have tipped around the same amount anyway. Overall, a great experience – highly recommended!

A great independent eatery with a lovely chilled atmosphere and fantastic service. Breakfast sandwiches and French toast are the main options. All of the sandwiches can also be made as a gluten free option and our coeliac son loved his. The coffee was also excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Our favourite brunch spot in Budapest, over the years it has become a tradition to visit the place and have a morning beer when visiting the city. This time we got the Mr Molnár and Where the ... am I?, both delicious and definitely filling. If you are in Budapest, I recommend you don't miss this place.

This is my absolute favorite spot for brunch in Budapest. There is a limited menu that sometimes changes seasonally, but nothing disappoints. My favorite is the grilled cheese selection and the Mr. Molnar with fried pickles. The coffee is phenomenal as well! It is very small inside, but there hasn’t been any issues with getting a seat. I’ll always come back here!

The food was good. Even better was the service and atmosphere. The restaurant is very well-planned, with a variety of sandwiches and sweet options that seem somehow perfect for a hangover morning. The Bloody Mary was very good, and you can get a cucumber water with your meal.

just-enough portions, we were the only guests in the garden around 2 pm on Sunday, so it was really comfortable. Chai latte was very good, orange juice was mid for my taste.

The eggs were quite cold. The Hollandaise sauce needs work, I think the spinach was cooked from frozen as it was mush. The toast was soggy, it needed an extra minute to toast. Good coffee. They forgot our water!.

We were there for visiting Gül Baba Monument. We found it by google maps. The staff was unbelievable friendly. We had our toddler with us who is a picky eater. They kindly found some food for him he likes and served it already in little bites. Also they brought some paper and pens for the kids. They served all the food almost the same time and gave us pretty fast some extras on top. It is a small oasis in Budapest with nice fresh food and the friendliest staff!!

My wife and I went here and the bagel sandwich I had was pretty good the chocolate pastry was a bit hard and messy, coffee was good as well. Unfortunately we must have come at the wrong time because there were crying baby's and barking dogs in this very tiny Cafe making it very noisy. The staff were very nice and friendly.

This small cafe has a few pastries but is known for its selection of bagels— we had the prosciutto and smoked salmon bagels, which were delicious. My hot oat matcha latte was also tasty. There is a small amount of seating upstairs and on the main level, as well as outside.

I cannot recommend this place enough. A cute little coffee shop with interesting decor and awesome food! Staff working there are absolutely lovely! A must stop in the morning!

This is the most adorable and perfectly cozy coffee shop tucked away in the streets of Budapest (Buda- side). From the adorable goat logo and branding to tie quaint upstairs seating area, it’s easy to fall in love. They have great coffee options as well as lots of baked goods and actual food. I went with an iced flat white. Flat whites are one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint. It was a great, cold burst of caffeine for walking around the city on an extra hot summer day. The barista who helped me was super sweet. They do have a small bathroom upstairs as well as wifi. It’s a great spot to sit for a bit.

I'm not a huge fan of bagels but shoutout to these ones. Super cozy café. Excellent ambience. Nice service pace and attention. Good location in Buda side. Coffee taste is great. Barista must be very happy to work with a La Marzocco coffee machine!

We took the chef's table dinner menu with wine pairing. Great, rich tastes each dish and service was on point However, compared to the total price (630 euros for two) it felt a bit overpriced. The idea was to come for the Show but it was quite regular table infront of open kitchen and there was not any cool cooking etc happening. Still, food and service were awesome

We liked the restaurant. All the dishes were presented in their own unique way. The food was good but we needed that WOAW factor of the taste to give it 5/5 for food (instead of 4/5). But it was still very nice and definitely recommend going here when visiting Budapest! We were sitting on the second floor overlooking the chefs table. Service was good, the dishes came fast after each other so that was nice. We ended up paying 422€ (171.560,- huf) for everything including the service charge (15%). So with everything combined (food presentation, taste and overall experience) it’s good value for money.

Incredible meal and experience. Service is top notch and the staff really makes sure you’re well treated. The menu has lots of contrasts and each dish has its own little story. I recommend ordering the “classic” wine pairing menu which consists of local Hungarian wines. Also, feel free to let staff know if you like a particular cocktail and they’ll try to surprise you. The entire experience can take up to 3.5 hours and you don’t even feel it.

A really fantastic experience. Food was exceptional and it was great to have so many alcohol free options. I actually like the fact the menu is not on the website as it adds to the air of mystery. We went to the bar afterwords for a post dinner drink and the cocktails were delicious. I also loved the decor and the interesting artwork on display. We sat at the chefs table which is a bar (bar stools have back rests) looking onto the kitchen which I really enjoyed. Would definitely recommend.

Very creative way of presenting the dishes that are a pleasure to look at, each of them. Good wine pairings. Maybe not all of the dishes were to our taste, but the atmosphere and the service balance everything out. My favourite dish was somehow one of the starters, the tomato salad. They also have talented bartenders who made us some wonderful drinks after the dinner. Loved the experience!

This was a well rounded experience. Food was simply outstanding every dish. It had a purpose background and context. Wines were excellent specially local. This is by far a complain but I felt we reached plateau on the 3rd or 4th course and from that moment the flavor and texture profile were similar where I would’ve wanted different proposals but the courses were good but I felt no longer surprised But again had any of those dishes been served earlier they would have caused surprised

This was my 12th Michelin star restaurant. I went there with my mother. It was her birthday and it was exactly 50 years since shes been to Budapest (1975 to 2025). I wanted to show her how the city has changed and how great the Hungarian food still is, even with a modern twist. She was really impressed by Rumour and it was a great choice. The food was fantastic, some dishes were the best ones Ive had in a Michelin star restaurant. The staff was great, it really is a testament to how training and paying attention help an establishment. The atmosphere was ok, not great. The music was too loud (another guest even kindly asked them to turn down the music) and the temperature was the main problem. It was way too cold. Overall a great experience. Not the best one Ive had, but it wasn't about me. And my mother was truly impressed. With the food I had one slight issue, there was a piece of cartilage in one dish, not a big deal but unexpected. Also, despite telling the staff multiple times that it was my mothers b-day (they asked why we were there, not something that I casually put out there), at the end they brought some guests b-day cakes, but not to my mother. It was a little bit disappointing. Not because she was entitled to it, but because it would have been something unexpected for her and she would have enjoyed it. And if paying for it was the issue, I would have gladly paid.

It was honestly a terrible experience. We live nearby and see it has lots of customers, however, when we're there, there were barely anyone. Yet, not sure is it because we are foreigners, the servers attitude were really bad, especially the lady that was at the barista. They show attitude on their faces when we ordered We ordered a hot chocolate and white hot chocolate, she told us white hot chocolate is out, so we said ok then just hot chocolate - but turns out she didn't input that order in. We ordered scrambled eggs, the menu says we choose 2 sides (price inclusive), but we forgot to do so. So they literally served the scrambled eggs without the sides, just the salad and bread. They only served it (the two sides) after we asked, they even told us "you didn't order any sides" - but can't you ask us? We're not familiar with your menu. It feels like they would just serve the food without any sides if we didn't enquire again afterwards. The only good thing about this restaurant is that their pulled pork toast is good, so if deserves another star for it

We've ordered a vegetarian omlete with chanterelle and my wife ordered benedict eggs on toast. The food was fantastic, omlete was crispy and cheesy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Benedict Eggs were nearly perfect, still runny yolk, perfect combination with spinach and a bit sweet bun. The prices were very comparable to other places so I'd say it's definitely worth to come here for a solid breakfast/brunch. Only negative thing: could have given a bit more salad 🥗

Cozy little place with a good choice of brunches and kind service. Went there twice in two days and will go there again when I'll visit Budapest in future :) Had a brioche which was best I ever had. And also a scrambled eggs - both were satisfying in portion size and eggs-cellent in taste ;)

In this place You can order the breakfast in the morning and you will receive it at lunch time! "Disappointing experience! We waited for over an hour for breakfast, which was completely unacceptable. The delay was not justified, and the service was slow and unfriendly. Considering the price, I expected a much better experience. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this place for breakfast." The food it was good but One of our friends also left the place because we had to wait for too long, after waiting 40 minutes everyone lost the desire to eat! So from 4 people luckily 3 stayed and waiting patiently for the foods because already in process and as educated people we decided to wait for do not waste all the foods. Never again! Thanks!

Cute classy eatery serving up a range of fresh meat and vegetarian (not vegan friendly) dishes. All plated up very well. FOOD: From French toast, pulled chicken sandwiches to English breakfasts, soups and pasta this cafe is a lovely little space for individuals or groups of 4. They offer gluten free bread/toast and non dairy milk for coffee's etc. Pricing is on the higher side. ACCESSIBILITY: They have indoor and outdoor seating, perfect for those with dogs or larger prams, as inside is rather small. Some free street parking is available. STAFF: Very attentive and friendly. They have a slightly cold demeanour however I suspect this is cultural more than anything else. OVERALL: I'd recommend. NOTE: The indoor bench seat is really uncomfortable due to its poor design directly under some timber above.

There are many places in the centre to choose from for brunch, and I'm happy with this one, however, it is quite pricey. The Breakfast Criminal with scrambled eggs was fresh and tasty. The bacon was great, but the sourdough bread wasn’t the best. To balance the sweet potato cream, it would be great to have a hint of something spicy. The coffee was average - I would recommend getting a double shot.

Never had hollandaise sauce so foamy before. It had a little jiggle :) and it was great. Waitresses were super friendly and accommodating. It does get pretty busy over the weekend but worth it.

A very pleasant place, located very close to the river. It has an outdoor terrace and several indoor tables with beautiful, cozy decor. People who works there is so kind and lovely, nice professionals The food is simply spectacular. The English breakfast is one of the largest and best presented I’ve ever seen. And the taste of the food, coffee, and orange juice is exceptional. I’ll definitely be coming back.

The pancakes were tasty and the service was friendly. However, the Americano coffee wasn’t great – quite watery and the beans didn’t seem to be of high quality. It would be nice to see some specialty beans offered in a place like this. Also, keep in mind that service is added to the bill, so the final amount can add up quickly.

A popular and busy cafe and bakery beside Rakoczi station. The croissant here are very nice. Soft sweet and moist. Their speciality coffee was also pretty good too although a bit pricey. They have few outdoor tables which is a bonus.

Our favorite breakfast place. We went 2 consecutive days as the variety of products will bet you surprised everytime :) We've tried sandwiches and also sweet products and all were amazing. I especially recommend the pretzel sandwich and the pistacchio croissant.

Easily the BEST coffee and pastries in Budapest. We tried Espresso Tonic, their Kombucha and Matcha tonic. Also had their pistachio croissant and crème brûlée croissant- both absolutely to die for. Also the veggies and goat cheese pasty looked great. For best coffee go to VAJ across the city.

Expensive but there’s a reason why it costs so much. They sell the best pistachio croissant I’ve had in my life. Perfect blend of creaminess, nuttiness and crunch from the pistachio creme. The coffee is solid as well. Would highly recommend to anyone who’s looking for the best breakfast experience in Budapest.

We visited Vaj Bakery and absolutely enjoyed the experience. We tried their famous pistachio croissant, which was really good with just the right amount of sweetness. The vegetarian toast sandwich was warm, fresh, and delicious, and the coffee was equally nice. The outlet we visited had outdoor seating, and it was pleasant to sit outside. They also have multiple outlets across the city.

During my whole trip, I was on the lookout for a proper pastry shop - mainly for croissants and, most importantly, macarons. I stumbled upon this place almost by chance and was more than satisfied! For me, macarons are the true test of a pâtisserie, and here they were truly worthy. Croissants were excellent as well. I also liked the semi-self-service concept - makes the experience simple and relaxed. Highly recommended! 🌿

Palacsinta Palota & Burger is a lovely place with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The service was truly kind and fast, and the food was absolutely delicious – especially the pancakes! Everything was well prepared and satisfying. I absolutely recommend this place if you’re looking for a great meal in a pleasant setting.

I was very excited about trying the burgers there, however I got very disappointed 😩😩 meat was dry and rubbery, meat is almost everything in a burger and it was not good in any of the two burgers we got. It seems that is a very popular places for desserts like palacinta, saw some people getting them and look very nice, but for burgers is not the place.

We entered and we were seven people and we were treated very badly and after I asked to speak to the Boss of the store, I discovered that the same person who treated me badly is the one who took hormone injections to look bigger, and then a girl working at the bar apologized to us after i asked her for the number of the store owner, but I did not eat anything there because this imaginary person the bodybuilder ruined my appetite, so we left immediately. I hope the store owner takes the matter seriously and looks into it, because these people will drive away customers and reduce the store’s profits, The first and the last time. Also tha portions are huge, and if you like sweets but not "too sweet" then ilI would suggest to split one order with someone. I have a sweet tooth and nothing is too sweet for me, but it was just on the line and could barely finish - it definitely worthed a full meal. I had the Kinder Maxi king with generous amount of whipped cream, caramel cream and nutella - tasted amazing though! Pricewise it is close to €10, but again, it is more than enough for 2 - and add some water too, you will need it:)

We discovered the best Palacsinta in Budapest - they are served here! The place calls themselves they palace of crepes (palacsinta in Hungarian) and are right to do so in my opinion! There are several sweet and savory variants to choose from, and the menu is bilingual, english and hungarian. Payment with card is available and the Tipp well deserved! We had ordered and received our food within 20 minutes every time and the staff was friendly and attentive :)

Less is more sometimes. But you can always share it. Longer version below. When you step into this tiny place, the design and enterior is stuffed but cozy. Service is kind, quick, quests are mixed. I really recommend buying one plate for two people. Not because its too much ( price/value/portion rate is really good!!) but because you could get diabetes from a full portion. I mean if it would be €2-3 cheaper and half the sweetness and portion, I would still pay for that. Because the plate is well served, the flavours are good, but too much. Also, thank god there is no music!!

Rare find; fine dining restaurant serving up 100% gluten and lactose free meals. FOOD: A range of meat and vegetarian and vegan dishes, including chicken, beef, pork and fake meat options. Pictured is a vegan lasagna. They also have a range of soups, salads and chef specials of the day. NOTE: Oddly, they don't have bread on the menu. I asked for some and it was like a multigrain baguette which was really good. It was around 500HUF, I would recommend ordering this. PRICING: We spent around $60 USD between us and I suspect it could cost around $45 USD per person if you're not sharing. STAFF: Very attentive and friendly. They speak fluent English and are able to assist with any enquiries. LOCATION: In the city centre with some free street parking available (although very limited). ACCESSIBILITY: Within the restaurant would be fine, they have in and outdoor seating ideal for kids, prams etc, there are however a couple of steps to the bathroom. The restaurant would easily fit individuals to groups of 14 or so. It's a suprisingly large space. OVERALL: Highly recommend and would come back (small note: the French crepe restaurant next door also does gf savoury buckwheat crepes).

Very nice surprise in the center of Budapest, close to the Opera. We went there without a reservation on Tuesday evening and it turned out the place will be fully booked. Despite this, the waitress was very helpful and suggested we could stay for 1 hour if we want to. The drinks and the food arrived very quickly and were very good. There were only two ladies handling the whole restaurant which was amazing and they could still do it with a smile on their face. The restaurant has multiple options for people with gluten and dairy intolerance.

The best service and food we’ve had since arriving in Budapest. The menu offered so much to choose from including meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan dishes. The added bonus was they were all gluten free and lactose free so there was no chance whatsoever of cross contamination. Every dish we ordered was full of flavour; absolutely delicious! Our server was excellent at her job and offered the best service we’ve had since our arrival. She helped us choose a Hungarian wine as we had no reference point. It turned out to pair beautifully with our food. Highly recommended from a complete foodie and a stickler for excellent service!

We visited the place as my son is celiac. It’s not a bad place but not great either. The Caesar salad was one of the worst I’ve had and the gin+soda I ordered was very watered down. The burger my son had was ok. Service was ok but not worth the service charge. Maybe we had too high expectations.. Overall, I would say it’s too expensive for what it is.

I had dinner here with two boys. We ordered three mains and a salad. We waited for our food for well over an hour, nothing arrived not even the salad. My kids were starving. I asked a couple of times when the food would be coming, the waiters apologized but nothing more. The restaurant was half empty. People who arrived after us got starters , mains, and had already left before we got the food. We received no compensation, not a drink or a dessert or a discount of any sort. I've never waited so long for food in my entire life. The food itself was okay. Not bad but definitely not worth the wait. I hate posting negative reviews especially for gluten free restaurants - my son has celiac and i want to give such restaurants as much love and business as possible. But in this case there are better options and better value for money elsewhere in Budapest. On the positive side I must say the sangria was excellent.

Even if you are not gluten and laktoz tolerant the food was delicious and your friends who are, they are happy to eat a good burger so yes ! Definitely a good place!

Fantastic food, all lactose-free, healthy, the flavor melts into your senses, and you have an incredible experience just by eating. Everything is organic and prepared to excellent taste. It has cute decor and a great location.

Cinnamon, a 15-minute walk from our house, was worth every step. The breakfast we had here was nothing short of a delightful gastronomic experience. While the service may seem a bit slow, don’t despair—each order is prepared fresh and with the utmost care, ensuring a meal that’s well worth the wait. The drinks we ordered were refreshing and flavorful. The service was spot on and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. We will certainly return to Cinnamon for another exceptional breakfast.

The place is cosy and in a quiet, nice neighborhood in the city. The food was delicious and very fresh. The coffee was very tasty also. The best part of our experience was the friendly staff and the great service. Adam was our waiter and he was very friendly and on top of service. He was super nice to our dog and she had a great time playing with him 😄 (The place is super dog friendly!) I would highly recommend the place for a nice and quiet breakfast/brunch away from the city center crowds.

We went for brunch on a Sunday. The place was full except for 2 empty tables. We ordered the Eggs Benny & Spinach waffles. Both were very good. I got a classic lemonade, as has been our experience in Budapest, it was very good. My husband got a Melange and remembered to ask for it "extra hot", but as in every place we've had coffee in Budapest, it was served at almost room temperature so we've come to the opinion that this is how coffee is served in Hungary & we better get used to it. Make sure you come here prepared for an extremely relaxed meal as service takes time. I do have 1 request of the owners; please change or sharpen the breakfast knives, they are so blunt that I ended up with aching forefingers from trying to cut into my English muffin. I wasn't the only one struggling, I checked around to see how well others were managing with their knives.

Amazing breakfast place! Super delicious food - I had egg Benedict with salmon and pancakes. My friend had ham and cheese sandwich. Very fresh and great quality. Also the portions are really generous, we were so full - and I usually eat a lot! Service was excellent - very attentive and friendly. Good coffee too. Definitely recommend if you are staying in the area.

Maybe a bit stiff up on arriving but what a delight inside. The owners take no shortcuts and only want perfection. The lady will recommend you a beautiful glass of wine to go along with your food. The coffee and pastry are all on the same par. I would love to see some red wine for the lunch.

We had two cappuccinos, an espresso, an apple crumble cake, and a pistachio cake topped with fruit – all well executed. A true gem in the heart of Hungary! Portobello Coffee Brunch and Wine is hands down one of the best places I’ve visited for breakfast and all-day brunch in Hungary. From the moment we walked in, the clean and cozy interior set the tone. Our group of five was seated at the large communal table in the middle of the café, which instantly sparked conversations with other guests — such a warm and friendly vibe! We started with some of their delicious pastries as appetizers: the blueberry tart and the lemon muffin were both incredible. You can really taste the care that goes into every detail — they quite literally melt in your mouth. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delightful. The Turkish eggs were soft, creamy, and elevated by a dollop of homemade sour cream, served with a generous portion of fresh, warm, fluffy sourdough bread — perfect for dipping to the very last bite. Awesome cafe in a quiet location. Went to have brunch there two times, the iced coffee is super yummy and my favorite dish was the kimchi pancake. I would 10/10 recommend if you are looking for a healthy and balanced breakfast.

Lunch here was the best meal I've had in ten days in central Europe. Creative Hungarian cuisine. Excellent service, wine, flavor, presentation, decor. To improve: WC is cramped, credit card machine should not ask for a tip on top of the obligatory service charge.

Popular high-class restaurant in the Eiffel Palace building. We took the business lunch menu. Good variety of choices. It was tasteful, good textures and prices are matching the quality. They have a great wine selection and the sommelier obviously can help you. Service fee is automatically added to the bill. Table reservation is a must. Despite of the booking we had to wait for the table but the restaurant manager offered as a compensation a free round of aperitif (glass of sparkling wine 👍. They forgot the third course (dessert) but after the reminder they served us fast.

I dropped by for a drink and honestly, the service just blew me away. The lady who served me (I think her name started with an A) was insanely good at her job – fast, kind, and effortlessly attentive. It’s rare these days to meet someone who’s so professional but still makes you feel genuinely welcome. The whole experience felt 10/10 thanks to her energy and attitude.

Rip-off for tourists. No prices were displayed for drinks at the counter, and I was shocked to pay nearly 3,000 HUF (~7.5 EUR) for a small 0.3L kombucha. That’s more expensive than in most Western European cities. Even with a 20% event discount, they automatically added a 20% service charge — despite there being no table service. I ordered at the counter, was handed a can I had to open myself, and when I asked for a glass, I got a plastic cup. Out of habit, I even tipped another 10%… my mistake. Yes, the place is photogenic and clearly aimed at tourists, but be prepared to pay steep prices for very little in return

A Cozy Surprise on a Chilly Afternoon – Smüz Brunch & Bar On a windy, chilly late May Monday, I ducked into Smüz Brunch & Bar just hoping to warm up—and left with one of my favorite Budapest memories. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, even as I grumbled a bit about currency confusion. Their warmth, along with a crisp, refreshing kombucha, helped reset my mood in no time. But the real surprise? One of the employees is a brilliant Dalmatian—yes, a dog. Watching this spotted genius move around the café like he owned the place was nothing short of delightful. There's something magical about being greeted by a dog you weren’t expecting—especially one this charming. Whether you’re in need of a drink, a bite, or a boost in spirits, Smüz is worth the stop. I’ll definitely be back. Hopefully, the Dalmatian remembers me.

The cafe is very cute and you have amazing views of the Parliament. But the big minus are the prices, the drinks are already overpriced and on top of that you have a 15% service fee. And we had to run after the waiter, we didn't even get the service that we paid for.

Took a Strawberry Daiquiri and a Fuitty Lemonade. They were very good. I did not give 5 stars as it’s a pre established service fee of 15%. Here’s the thing… I have no problem with tips but not imposed tips. The prices are already high so pay your employees fairly rather than relying mostly or exclusively on the 15% tips clients are forced to pay on top.

A Hidden Gem Next to Parliament - Smuz is a Must-Visit! We had the pleasure of dining at Smuz, located just steps from the Parliament building, and it was truly a memorable experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome - warm smiles, attentive service, and a genuine sense of hospitality set the tone for the evening. And the food... absolutely outstanding! The goulash by the chef was unforgettable - rich, hearty, and perfectly balanced with spices. You should also to try their freshly squeezed juices! Apple-mint was my favorite.

Great place to have casual lunch, but everything is gluten-free. Also there is a café and a shop for allergen-free groceries and freshly baked gf goodies . I had the deep-fried Mac'n'cheese with cheddar sauce and bacon, with some salad and some pancakes.

Nice, modern place with well priced gluten-free food options. Also a little health shop and pastry shop is there in the same building.

Simply amazing! It is one of the few 100% gluten-free restaurants on Buda side, and also in Budapest. The food was absolutely delicious. Starting from the presentation and ending with the taste. So good! And the service was very good too. Attentive and caring. In addition, the place is spacious and the tables are well separated. An interesting thing are the post-it with the customer reviews covering part of the walls. A place to go more than once!

A wonderful place. Everything is gluten and lactose free and there are many sugar free options. The waiter was so professional and he cared a lot! And the plants!!! Best restaurant for gluten and lactose free food I have ever found. We had the shrimp skewers with noodles. And the stuffed sweet potatoe. Both were absolutely delicious. Also the vegan dessert was Panna cotta and the tiramisu were delightfully good!

We had a very lovely experience here, with traditional hungarian dishes. I tried the beef stew, while my friends had the chicken with mozzarella sauce and some beef tenderloin and we were all very pleased. For dessert we had 2 different types of Somloi and the chocolate dumplings, all of which were delicious. The waiting time was about 15 minutes, which is more than reasonable and the price was completely fair, given that we ate and drank to our hearts' content.
