Mexican restaurant
Taqueria Pico de Gallo is a beloved Mexican restaurant in Tucson, known for its fresh and authentic Baja-style fish tacos, Camaron (fried shrimp), and Cabeza tacos. The shop was opened over 30 years ago by Ignacio "Nacho" Delgado, who still works there at 83.
Delicious little Mexican restaurant! Easy to get to near the freeway. Great parking. There were some great murals painted and in the shared parking lot raspados were available. The restaurant had great selections on the menu including combo plates. We ordered barbacoa tacos and care asada burrito. Both had fresh flour tortillas and great flavor. The meat was very tender and full of delicious juiciness! I will definitely be back when we are on this side of town!!

All I can say is that I should have gone to Taco Bell instead, worst burrito ever anywhere I've been in the states. Bad presentation, just the so-called burrito and a big slice of yellow lemon! No salsa,or "pico de gallo". I asked for jalapeños and carrots and was told that they cost money but they gave me some for free. Burrito,my gosh is bad. I paid $1.50 for cheese and guacamole. Still bad ! Three breaded shrimps the same they use for tacos, little rice, guac and cheese, not even melt. A very small portion overall in a big flour tortilla. A gas station burrito tastes better than this...I don't understand how they have so many reviews. THE ONLY HIGHLIGHT....HORCHATA WAS GOOD. One can tell when the cook enjoys the job,the lady look like she had to be there and get it done....food goes to the soul. I took only two bites and left...too bad The place was empty to add more salt to the wound.

Stop in for bite with my wife and daughter on way back to Mesa and man we were blown away by the quality of the food and the homemade corn tortillas. Duncan did a great job of helping us navigate the menu and made us feel welcome. Lu the cook threw down on fish and carne tacos! We will definitely be back next time we’re in Tucson!
Terry T — Google review
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks to the person at the Comedy Bang Bang show last night who recommended this local spot. Corn tortilla tacos. The horchata is spectacular. Man, I wish there was a place like this near my home (and at such reasonable prices!!)

Absolutely awful experience — do not recommend I recently visited Pico de Gallo in Tucson, and I can confidently say I will never be returning. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived around 9:30 AM. We were told many items on the menu weren’t available because they hadn’t been made yet—which we were understanding about and adjusted our order accordingly. But that’s where any hint of a positive experience ended. The cashier, Patricia, was rude from the start. When we asked to use the restrooms, we had to grab a key (again, not a huge deal), but the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. They hadn’t been cleaned at all—trash and paper everywhere, dirty toilets and sinks—and we were clearly the first customers of the day. If the bathrooms looked that bad, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. After ordering, we waited over 30 minutes for our food with no updates. Finally, we asked what was going on, and Patricia informed us the food had been ready, just sitting there. Keep in mind: we were the only customers in the restaurant. She had nothing else to do and still didn’t bother to let us know our food was up. When we expressed frustration (understandably), she was dismissive and rude, saying “that’s just how things are done here.” When we finally got the food, it was cold and borderline inedible. I ordered the birria soup, which I’d had in the past and enjoyed—but this time it was mostly fat, with brown, wilted cabbage on the side. It tasted like it had been made days ago. Truly awful. We asked for salsa, and Patricia didn’t even look at us—just pointed vaguely at a fridge and said “over there.” Later, when I requested to-go containers, she handed me dirty Styrofoam cups. I had to ask for new ones because the ones she gave me had remnants of drink on them. Absolutely unacceptable. Between the filthy bathrooms, cold and greasy food, and the astonishingly rude service, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t recommend Pico de Gallo to anyone—it’s unsanitary, unprofessional, and the food simply isn’t good. Save your money and go literally anywhere else.

This place is a great Tucson gem that has been around for ages. I remember as a kid eating at Taqueria Pico de Gallo but it has been years. They need a commercial to get back on the map, or even a community event- something! The raspados here are amazing- decent price for the size and quality. Small is $5, a large is $8.50, both come with ice cream and lechera at no extra charge. LOVE THAT! The women here is great and thorough. They also have other atojitos like tosti-elotes, tosti-nachos, cocteles, agua Frescas, cheesecake, flan wish I would’ve taken a pic of the menu. Either way, this place is great and local. I will be coming here for my raspado needs all summer and I’m bringing friends!

This review breaks my heart. I’ve been coming here since 1999. In town and it was right down the street from where I was staying, so late night cravings got the best of me. It was awful! Ugh. Just. Awful. I got the 3 fish taco combo plate. The best part was the rice, and maybe it just tasted like fried rice. The pico tomatoes were sour, like rancid old, I don’t know if you’d even call it pico. Diced tomatoes and a bit of onions, yes. The beans were burnt and dry. Like how do you screw up refried beans, in Tucson! I tried the beans on the tacos to give it flavor, but I had to choke it all down with the way too sweet horchata. Was it mayo drips as sauce on the tacos, I don’t know? What a disappointment and what a tragedy this place no longer has the vibrant flavors, distinct street taco flair I loved for decades. I shooed a fly away the entire time I write this in the empty space. The cashier was extremely friendly. The only plus. Counter service, you retrieve, you clean up. Tips prompted. 🫤

Authentic, delicious! Homemade tortillas, great beans and rice. Just delicious. And make sure you get the watermelon drink to go with it! Enjoy!

Mexican restaurant

Latin American restaurant
Located in the lively South 4th Avenue of Tucson, Mi Nidito Restaurant has been a beloved spot for Mexican cuisine since 1952. This family-owned establishment is known for its generous portions and authentic home-style cooking that attracts both locals and tourists. The restaurant gained significant attention when President Bill Clinton visited in 1999, leading to the creation of the famous Presidents Plate featuring his selected dishes.
Located in South Tucson, this restaurant is famous for entertaining President Clinton during his visit in 1999--they even named a plate for him and you can see pictures commemorating the occasion throughout the dining area. The food is reasonably priced and authentic, special mention for the bean tostada which is actually closer to a bean boat and well worth ordering! They offer complimentary chips and salsa while you're waiting for your food and the whole restaurant has a down home feel to it, very enjoyable. Would be nice for a date night! They haven't updated their website recently and the prices have increased slightly but still worth a visit!
Verrinia K — Google review
Mi Nidito Restaurant in Tucson has garnered significant attention over the years, likely due to its history and visits from notable figures. However, my recent experience left me feeling that the establishment is somewhat overrated. Upon arrival, I encountered a substantial wait time, which seemed disproportionate to the dining experience that followed. The service was average; while the staff was courteous, there was nothing particularly remarkable about their attentiveness or efficiency. The food, though decent, didn’t stand out in Tucson’s vibrant Mexican culinary scene. Given the long wait and the average service, I expected a more memorable meal. In summary, while Mi Nidito holds a cherished place in Tucson’s dining history, my visit was just satisfactory, and I believe there are other local spots that offer a more exceptional experience.

Just a heads up, this review won’t be good. I see many great reviews but I have to give my opinion on what I experienced. I was left confused, really confused about the fame and the quality of the food as it relates to this restaurant. Granted this is just my opinion so here it goes. ---- NO WAY was this fame of Mi Nidito acquired serving this low quality food. ---- This was a restaurant bill I absolutely regretted paying for. I had seen this restaurant on Man vs. Food many years ago. I thought, wow….42 ate there. And some other famous and notable people as well. I ASSUMED it would be a place worth trying. We went there and the place was packed. This was around lunch time. We ordered two plates. I ordered beef tacos and the other was birria tacos. Nothing authentic from the start. You typically don’t get tacos served over a ton of shredded lettuce that was starting to dry up with a ton of cotija cheese mixed with what I thought was cheddar or some other cheese. Sure…different version and styles but this was not authentic ANYTHING. These tacos were an attempt at tacos and it failed. The tacos were crispy but were rather empty. Very little beef and nothing else really. There was no pico inside or other garnishes that would typically accompany a taco. I didn’t really care to add the lettuce that was on the plate as it was looking a bit sad, starting to dry up. At this point I’m thinking…..I hope this is not what many celebrities get or this is a bad introduction to Mexican food for them especially if they have never had it before or have limited exposure to it. I see this restaurant has been open since the 50’s and I have a feeling this is not what was served in the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Something had to change along the way and I believe for the worse. Cutting corners? The other tacos (Birria taco) were about the same low flavor/quality. If you see the pictures they look the same. The rice was on the dry side, it had a bit of flavor but a bit dry. The beans….well….they were trying I guess. The ambiance is what I really liked. I wish there were more restaurants like this with this type of ambiance. If only the food matched the ambiance…I guess I was hoping for better. Adam Richman (Man vs. Food) episode was what brought me here. I hope he wasn’t blowing smoke and that what he ate was better than what I ate. I’m about ready to really question his taste buds or that he actually had to act the part. Needless to say. I’m never coming back to Mi Nidito. No way has this place built its reputation serving this kind of food. Which is why I’m really confused about so many other people talking and reviewing how great this place is. I just don’t get it. I wonder about people’s perception of Mexican food, the different kinds/regional styles/variations…I wonder if they don’t really care about what they eat anymore or just don’t know what they are eating. This visit really threw me for a loop. The prices on the menu are current as of 8/2025
Ana M — Google review
There’s likely a wait, but it’s going to be okay, put a drink in your cooler and prepare for the most delicious Mexican food!! This place is awesome! It took a while for the food, so bring company or be able to relax… it’s worth it 🤘🏽 The chips and salsa are top notch and chicken enchiladas are amazing heaven.
Dan — Google review
I've always loved the flautas here but today the flavor of the meat was off. I'm not sure if they added a spice like anise or if it burned or what but it wasn't good. The beans were great though.
Gloria S — Google review
Got there around 5 on a Wednesday. I was told it would be between 20 and 30 mins but turned into 40 mins or so. The waitress was nice and wanted to get my order less than a minute after giving me the menu. The salsa with the chips was tasty but very tomato forward. It was spicy but not intolerable. It made me think of bolognese sauce which was spicy after the inital strong tomato flavor. Their chips were fine, not memorable, either way, not bad, not exceptional, but forgettable. The michelada was very good. It came out quickly and had a good mix of beer to clamato (or whatever they used, not sure, but it was definitely tasty). I would return for one if nothing else. Onto the food: I ordered the President's plate. It consisted of a beef tamal, chicken enchilada, chile relleno, birria taco and bean tosada. The beef tamal by itself was awesome.  The shredded beef was great and the corn in the tamal came through in a lovely way.  The sauce complimented and did not distract from the other flavors. I think I would order a few of these separately on a return visit. The chicken in the enchilada was shredded and was well seasoned. It had a ton of flavor but was just a little dry. The chile relleno was very tasty. It was another highlight of the plate. The chile was stuffed of tasty cheese, and the batter was very good. However, I would've preferred less cheese on the outside of the chile to enjoy the batter more. The birria taco was full of meat and cheese. It was a taco durado, with lettuce, two kinds of cheese and beef. Be sure to eat that first, as the bottom of the taco will become soggy if you wait too long. It was tasty. It was what you'd come to expect of a good taco durado. With it being a birria taco, I would've appreciated some consome to go with it. The bean tostada suffered from the same problem as the taco, the bottom got soggy because of the order in which I ate it. However, the tortilla was nice and crunchy and was fashioned in a way that resembled a dish, not a flat tortilla. It was filled with very good refried beans, lettuce and two kinds of cheese. It was difficult to eat, in that it was a bit messy. There seemed to be many locals here, as they greeted staff like family, which was nice to see.  A family celebrating a graduation walked by, the doctorate student proudly walking as they exited, all smiles. The waitress was very attentive, especially, given the restaurant didn't seem to have too many wait staff and quite a few patrons. Mi Nidito is not a tourist trap but a fine place to get a delicious meal and I cant wait to return.
A.M. P — Google review
We ordered a birria chimichanga (enchilada style) Visually it looks good and portions are big. However do not expect any taste. It tasted like boiled beef. Moreover the green sauce had no flavor. It was blend. Worst of all i asked for a hot sauce so i can at least eat our food. They said they dont have any sauce or salsa. What kind of Mexican resraurant dosen't have hot sauce or chilli?- A shitty one. Lastly, they charge additional service charge for paying with a card....

Great food, quick service even though they were busy. It's cool to see all the pictures of famous people that have visited throughout the years.

El Güero Canelo Restaurant is a family-owned chain that started as a small hot dog stand in Tucson back in 1993. Over the years, it has grown into a mini-empire with three locations, offering an authentic taste of Tucson and Sonora food culture. The restaurant is famous for its Sonora Hot Dog, featured on Food Network and known for being wrapped in mesquite-smoked bacon and topped with grilled onions, beans, mayonnaise, and jalapenos.
Very clean restaurants with a good salsa bar and tons of options that I feel are fair priced. We got the Sonoran hotdog and Carne Asada fries. Carne Asada fries needed a little bit of salt but otherwise it tasted good!

Good tasty burrito, good proportion of meat, beans, cream, guac and cream. The condiments island is well diverse. Good tasty Horchata!! You will always get returning customers if the place is clean...AAAAA+++++. There was always someone keeping eye at the condiment station and another one for the tables and floor. Respect for the cleaness! Very special detail outside at the parking lot....their very first taco stand to show how far they have come to be a staple in tucson...Nice!

Ordered two estilos sonora and the torigüeros! The hot dogs were amazing and the bread was plump and airy. The addition of the salsa bar really just made the entire experience. Order yourself a glass bottle of Coke and you have one amazing meal! Highly recommend!

We had the Sonoran Dog, Sammy Dog, Torigueros, & Horchata.....EVERYTHING was absolutely delicious. The flavors were fantastic...I left very happy!!!! Great value for the money too!!! If you are in Tucson, ypu definitely have to try this place!!!

I was looking to try something different while visiting Tucson and the Sonoran style hot dog at Sl Güero Canelo restaurant did not disappoint! Every bite was delicious and I will be looking for a recipe to try this myself at home. I will say that one hot dog was not super filling so if you go in with an appetite, try ordering two. The salsa verde was also very nice with a roasted flavor in the chiles. The tacos were not the best but also not the worst I’ve ever had. I will definitely come back if I’m ever in the area again.
Christina B — Google review
Overall, it deserves 5 stars, but the meat has too much nerve in it. I think they should choose their meat more delicately and chop it more delicately.
Nurettin Y — Google review
Tried this place for the first time. It was just okay. I had the Sonoran hotdogs. I mostly got the taste of bread and little else. I did use the restroom and they were filthy. I definitely won’t be back here again.

You can never go wrong with a Sammy dog (or two). The line was long when I went in but the cashiers were quick and efficient to get people through.

El Merendero is a casual Mexican restaurant that offers a variety of traditional dishes and refreshing drinks. The menu features hearty Mexican standards such as tacos, burros, enchiladas, and seafood from the Gulf with unique preparations like crispy chicharrones de camaron and toritos. The restaurant also serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with favorites including cocido, a beef soup with fresh vegetables, and enchiladas with chipotle cream sauce.
Generous portions and delicious food (I had eaten part of my shrimp cocktail before taking the picture)!

I order to go a caldito de red grande(cosido) for about $14.68 + tips the caldo have 3 lil pieces of beef not even enough for the tortilla that comes with it. It's way better to buy a the carniceria herredero and they are not a restaurant and the flavor way better 100 % better. Never going back.

Great Mexican Food The first thing I noticed was the spectacular selection of hot sauces in the rack on our table! The full range from somewhat mild to extra hot. I tasted them all and enjoyed the variety. Warm tortilla chips and salsa were brought to the table as we sat down. My wife had the Cameron Taco Salad. A bowl made from a fresh fried tortilla filled with loads of warm, marinated cooked shrimp, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, beans, guacamole, sour cream and cheese. She absolutely loved this salad and the flavor of the shrimp. I ordered the Borchetta. This was a skewer deep fried with five good size shrimp along with bacon, onions and bell peppers. Mexican rice and beans accompanied the entree. The bacon flavor on the shrimp was great. Service was attentive and we never felt rushed during our visit. I would definitely visit here again.

Bestest Mexican food ever! THE FOOD WAS SOO GOOD. The fajitas where great, came with a homemade tortilla. The chips and salsa was good. And the service, also great. We even loved dessert. Dinner for two with dessert was under 40 bucks.

I love this place. The food is always delicious and the service is good. My favorite dish is the Tampiquena. I've come many times for lunch and a couple times for dinner and plan to keep coming back.
Adrian S — Google review
Please, avoid to order the milanesas, they’re deep fried then resulting in a hard breaded beef filet. Awful taste, the beans made me sick from my stomach, and one of the salsas was spoiled. We ordered 4 orders of milanesas with fries, rice and beans on May 05, 2022. The taste and quality of food were terrible.

Local 12th Ave favorite for amazing Mexican food! I always come for the Michelada and Tampiquena! Great breakfast and dinner menu! Huge portions as you can see and never disappoints! The ladies are amazing and always sweet! Not to mention this place is so we'll priced! I love it!

The El Minuto Cafe is a family-run Mexican restaurant that serves classic Sonoran-style cuisine. The menu features mouth-watering dishes like carne seca tacos and chimichangas, as well as delicious cheese crisps. The cafe is located in a nice location and is perfect for date night.
My favorite mexican food place from growing up here. All the authentic usuals prepared well - including multiple varieties of a cheese crisp which I feel is a Tucson specialty! Great family atmosphere and service make this a nostalgic must visit for me when Im in town!

Delicious! We are staying around the corner and found this place. Tried the cheese crisp and the shredded beef enchiladas (came with rice and beans), and margaritas. Everything was delicious! Definitely recommend!
Casey S — Google review
I had dinner with coworkers at El Minuto Cafe, and I was very impressed. Classic Sonoran meals and some American offerings. This was my first time there, and I ordered the shredded beef combo plate, which came with beans and rice, and I chose the flour tortilla; which was huge, over the corn. Everything was seasoned just right, and all of our food came within 15 minutes of us sitting down. Also, my beer came with a nice frosty glass. I can see why this restaurant is beloved in Tucson.

Great little gem near downtown Tucson. Very kind staff, feels like it’s run by Family. The chips and salsa are delicious! I had a shredded beef cheese crisp, it was perfect.

Salsa is killer good! I could eat it with a spoon. Would go back just for the salsa. Nice and hot and flavorful. Chimi was crispy and good.

Great restaurant with authentic Mexican food. Seems like it is a hidden place. Great friendly service and very reasonable price.

This is difficult because I really like to leave positive reviews. However, not this time. As Mexican food goes in Tucson, here it is average at best. My wife concurs. The atmosphere is not great either unless you like dusty old houses. Service is good.

BK Carne Asada & Hot Dogs 1st Ave. is a popular spot in Tucson, known for its Mexican and American menu featuring carne asada and spicy hot dogs. It's a favorite among students and locals, with two locations in town. The restaurant serves Tucson staples like the Sonoran Hot Dog, wrapped in bacon and topped with pinto beans, onions, tomato, mayo, mustard, and jalapeno sauce.
If you are looking for amazing Sonoran dogs, great service all in a cool air conditioned restaurant this is your place. We have been going to this place since it was a food truck and it has always been consistent. We love the salsa bar and the roasted onions. If you are in tucson and looking for authentic Sonoran food check this place out.

I personally feel that this is one of the best places in town to get some phenomenal tasty dogs. The Sonoran dog has a great flavor and a nice soft bun. Every bite is packed full of flavor Delicious! Always a go-to when I come here
Rob S — Google review
The food was pretty good nothing to write home about, but still enjoyable. I ordered the regular carne asada quesadilla, which tasted fine but felt a bit small for the price. My brother tried the specialty Sonoran hotdog and seemed to really enjoy it, though the fries it came with were disappointing very cheap and mostly just tasted like grease. On the bright side, our waitress was extremely sweet and made the whole experience much more pleasant. Her kindness really stood out and made us feel welcome. The restaurant itself was also decently clean, which is always appreciated. Overall, not a bad spot, especially if you’re more focused on the service than the sides.

I just ate there last week and spent $100 everything was perfect. Just went today for pickup and got the same large carne asada burrito and they gave me a regular size burro they lost a good customer

Delicious Sonoran Dog, Friendly Service, but Street Tacos Fell Short I had heard good things about this place and finally decided to give it a try. I ordered a Sonoran hot dog with everything on it and a carne asada corn tortilla street taco. Let me start by saying — the Sonoran hot dog is easily one of the best I’ve had in Tucson. Perfectly grilled, loaded with toppings, and served with a roasted jalapeño on the side, it hit every mark for flavor and texture. Unfortunately, the street taco didn’t quite match the same level. While the meat itself was fine, the presentation was underwhelming and the flavor was a bit lacking — especially given the price. To be fair, this may be due to ordering it to go, so it might fare better when eaten fresh on-site. What really stood out, besides the Sonoran dog, was their salsa bar. The salsas are clearly made fresh and offer bold flavor — especially the hot salsa, which brings serious heat without sacrificing taste. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating, making the visit feel welcoming and appreciated. All in all, this spot shines in some key areas, but with a little improvement in consistency and value, it could easily be a 5-star experience. For now, 4 stars out of 5.

Great place. Enjoyed the food. Had the Sonoran Hot Dog, Birria tacos, BK fries with chorizo. Enjoyed it all. Wish the prices for tacos was better.

Just moved to Tucson and this was the most disappointing meal I’ve had yet. The Sonora dog was flavorless and the Winnie to bun ratio was off try elsewhere !!!!!

Amazing food and service. Our waitress Valaria helped us pick our drinks. She was great. The sonoran dog and tortilla soup was great. The salsa bar that they had with grilled onions was the best.

Perfecto's Mexican Restaurant is a no-frills, family-owned eatery known for its traditional Mexican dishes like tamales and red chile beef combination plate. The restaurant was founded by Perfecto Leon, also known as The Tamale Man, who started selling tamales over 20 years ago before opening the restaurant in 2009. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it offers a variety of authentic Mexican meals such as albondigas soup and chimichangas.
They've spiffed up the place to make it look nicer, new paint, table setting. Same great food and service. Really good local eatery, and the fresh tamales are muy bueno.

Rodolfo L — Google review
I have all of these southside Mexican restaurants bookmarked because I am a self-proclaimed Chilaquiles Aficionado. I am on the hunt for the best authentic Mexican breakfast in town and Perfecto's is where we landed this past weekend. Let me start by saying, the place literally right down the block that has great ratings (and more reviews), was nowhere near as good as Perfecto's. This place is located in a strip mall, but it is not hard to find. We landed here at about 9 in the morning and the place was pretty busy. It is small -- I think there were 12-14 - 4 seater tables. It was very clean inside and the two gals that were working were very welcoming and friendly. You get a little bowl of salsa and fresh (yes fresh, unlike the ones we had last weekend at the other place) while you wait to order/for your food. I ordered... you guessed it... Chilaquiles! My Hubs ordered the Huevos Rancheros and a bowl of the red Menudo. My Chilaquiles were great, and I am finding everyone seems to do them differently so I am trying not to be too judgy outside of taste. These had the cheese melted in them (vs. on top) and were really good. I grilled the Hubs on his food because I told him I was "yelping this stuff". He said the Menudo was pretty good (comes with the traditional toasted bread, cilantro and onions) and tasty. He would not go beyond that -- he is Hispanic and I believe he rates all Menudo against that of one of his sisters who makes it with tons of red chile which he loves and compares everyone elses to. That said a "pretty good" is saying a lot. Now, he was not as impressed with the Huevos Rancheros. He described them as not having enough sauce and the tortillas should have been soft and not tostada shells. I did think they looked a little different than what I thought they normally looked like but maybe it is like Chilaquiles and everyone does them a little different? Bottom line, service was super attentive and great... this place is a little neighborhood jewel which is evident by the steady stream of regulars coming in. The food was tasty as well, I would totally return for the Chilaquiles.

All great things! I forgot to take the pic before I jumped in! The portions are out of this world for the price you pay! If you want real authentic SONORENSE food this is the place. The food is consistently amazing. This restaurant also has "REAL" horchata, none of that powder "horchata" from other places. It's cozy and service is always great. Bring your appetite!

Rollies Mexican Patio is a small, vibrant restaurant in South Tucson that offers delicious Mexican staples like rolled tacos, burritos, and sandwiches. The interior is aesthetically pleasing with splashes of turquoise and pink, and there's even a llama mural outside for great photo opportunities. One of their specialties is the Rollie tacos, which come with a choice of chicken or potatoes wrapped in a corn tortilla and topped with either spicy house queso sauce or brothy enchilada red sauce.
This place is absolutely amazing! The food is outstanding, authentic, and so delicious. The service is so kind, especially to tourists (which we obviously were). And the place is so awesome to sit down and eat! We absolutely loved it. We got a few different items that had birria and I can’t even express how good each one was. 10/10 this is a restaurant you should go out of your way for if near Tucson.

It’s the perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and boozy, making it an ideal choice for a warm day or just to treat yourself. Beyond the incredible food and drinks, Rollie's offers a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. The beautiful colors and fun decor create a lively and inviting space, perfect for a casual meal or a night out with friends. El Charro Café Downtown is a vibrant Mexican restaurant that has been serving authentic Sonoran-style cuisine for over 100 years. Located in Tucson, it is the oldest family-owned restaurant in the United States and has become a symbol of the city's rich culinary heritage. The menu features an array of dishes, including the famous carne seca, a flavorful spiced beef prepared on-site and incorporated into many cheese-laden entrees.
I haven't been here in a while and my cousins, who were visiting, wanted to go here. I work at a major hotel nearby and suggest this place all the time, but I forgot how AMAZING the food was here! We were sat in the downstairs area and loved the vibe down there. How the servers manage those stairs with food is a wonder in itself!! I had the seafood enchiladas which were the best I've ever had! I've been thinking of them ever since!!Everyone thought their food was just delicious. Server was awesome and very knowledgeable about the food when we had questions. I can't wait to go back!!

Recommend: chimichanga Good: tamales, tacos, fajitas I think my expectations were a bit too high. The food was good especially when you consider the price. I was surprised to find the prices so reasonable. The complementary chips and salsa were both lovely. The chimichangas were nice though the chicken ones were dry. The coloring book for kids has the story of the origins of chimichanga I found the tamales and beans a little on the runny/mushy/wet side. I didn't love the corn kernels in the tamales - they tasted a little like canned corn to me. The shrimp were cooked nicely though. Tacos were solid We waited a pretty long time for our food so I would definitely recommend getting an appetizer or two so that you're not miserable.

We had a reservation at 7:30pm & they sat us on the front porch! Not what we wanted for the first time there! & the waitress didn't seem to know what was going on! Ordered appetizers & never got them!! The dinner came out & we asked where's the appetizer?? She said oh we are out of that! At 7:30!!!! She should know!! The food was great but it left me thinking was it worth it going there!!!

My husband and I recently visited El Charro, reputedly the first Mexican restaurant in the United States, and as avid fans of Mexican cuisine, we were excited to pay tribute to its history. We started with the beef chimichanga, which was a standout dish. It was incredibly flavorful and packed with beef, making it quite filling! We also ordered the queso Finito with shrimp. While it had a pleasing taste, we were overwhelmed by how greasy and stringy it was—definitely more cheese than we anticipated. We were hoping for something more akin to a traditional cheese dip, and if we had finished the whole thing, I suspect we would have regretted it. On the brighter side, the prickly pear margarita was fabulous! Its vibrant color and refreshing taste were highlights of our meal. The ambience of the restaurant added to the experience; we sat outside on a porch, enjoying the street view and open air. However, the inside had a charming vibe reminiscent of an old house, which we would have enjoyed as well. While we noticed more quaint seating options in the yellow building next door, they seemed reserved for larger groups. Overall, El Charro offered a delightful experience, with some delicious highlights and a lovely atmosphere.

Service was beautiful. Guacamole made tableside was yummy! The original El Charro Beef Tacos made me dance in my seat they were so good. We had the Tacos Seca.. interesting, flavorful, like the old timey jerky in the container when were kids. By far our new favorite place. The decor was gorgeous and the Mariachi Men played my request of Marty Robbins tableside brought back memories was so great!

I had an amazing experience at El Charro in Tucson! I ordered the chicken and steak fajitas, and they were cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and served sizzling hot. The portions were generous, and every bite was packed with bold, authentic flavor. What really stood out to me was the salsa—it had a rich, smoky flavor that perfectly complemented the rest of the meal. You can tell they put real care into their recipes. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was top-notch. If I ever end up in Tucson, I'll be back. Go check em out.

One of the oldest continuous run Mexican restaurants in the United States right here in Tucson Arizona. Usually very busy but lucked out for Father’s Day and had a great dinner as always. Highly recommended if you haven’t been yet. Muy delicioso!!

We have been wanting to try this historic restaurant for quite some time. We were fortunate enough to have done so and definitely will be returning again. The service was great and our server Caleb was absolutely amazing. He not only answered a question my wife had about the meat selection, he was kind enough to bring us a sample to try out. The food came out and after the first bite of the chicken enchilada, we were hooked. The second enchilada was supposed to be Carne seca, but ended up being another chicken enchilada, which we were ok with since it was so delicious. Caleb came back to check on us and we mentioned that both Enchiladas are chicken, which was an honest mistake in the kitchen. Caleb handled it like a pro even though we said it was ok and he didn't have to. He told us he charged us for the chicken and carne seca and wanted to make sure we got what we ordered and paid for. One of the kitchen staff came to our table and apologized for the mix up while he delivered the 2 Enchiladas that were missed from the order along with more beans and rice, which was totally unexpected. This was above and beyond our expectations, especially after we already said it was ok that both of our Enchiladas were chicken. Hopefully the next time we have the opportunity to go again Caleb will be our server again (I'll be sure to request him). Top notch place and service. This is why this restaurant is the oldest Mexican restaurant in the state and is still doing business. Food was amazing, service was extraordinary and the atmosphere was very pleasant. This place is 10 star worthy and we'll drive 2 hours again for another experience. Thank you Caleb and all staff at El Charro. We will be back asap!

I ordered the Chimichanga Carna de Verde; which I thoroughly enjoyed for dinner and half for next day’s lunch. I was caught off guard when I received the check because I didn’t notice the rarity of beans and rice being an addition. They were two dollars each and three dollars for appetizer nachos; which made my meal very expensive! Luckily, I didn’t order the four dollar soft drink like my wife did 😳 So, 18 for entree plus 7 for sides and add a drink; your at 29 Dollars for dinner. Very expensive for a chimi-dish. My wife ordered the fajitas… the chicken, carne, and shrimp especially were very dry and chewy instead of tender and juicy; so not the best experience with that! My wife commented that it was not hot when it arrived. Chimichanga was way better! Was on the fence about a food rating of 3 or 4; but I’ll give it 4 because of the Chimichanga. I’d be curious about whether the fajitas would be better in the future. The initial service was good; but the waiter did not return for my wife needing a drink refill. Beautiful view of Catalina’s with huge windows. My pics are not great because I didn’t initially plan on reviewing the location. I would try again; but won’t order 2 dollar beans or 2 dollar rice; which is exorbinant.

We went to Teresa’s Mosaic Café in Tucson to celebrate Father’s Day, and as expected, the place was overwhelmingly packed. I took my husband because it's been a favorite spot recently. The homemade tortillas were amazing, as always, honestly, they never disappoint! And despite the crowd, the service was friendly and attentive, which I really appreciated. However, I have to say this is the second time I've left disappointed with the food. My enchiladas were cold and chewy, and the overall dish just lacked flavor. It’s not what I remember from before, and it’s a bit disheartening since we came for a special occasion. Next time, I’ll probably just stop by for a dozen fresh tortillas, because those are still worth the trip!
Liliana C — Google review
Service was great and I have been coming to Mosaic for decades and have always loved it. And I’m glad they rebuilt; however, it’s very different. I got the Combo 15 plate with 2 beef tacos an enchilada and a bean tostada and while the tacos were good/flavored well (and always have been) there was only a tablespoon or so of meat in each patty taco which was disappointing. There was no sauce on the enchilada which was odd—a dry enchilada! And finally as has been mentioned, they up charge for almost everything include chips and salsa.
Tara C — Google review
I have waited after moving back to tucson to come and visit. Great memories of the food here, and this time, it was just bad. My entire dish was cold to luke warm. My enchilada was so cold I could see the shredded cheese, not melted what so ever!! The chicken in the taco warm at best. My husband's menudo came with what felt and tasted like stale bread. I asked for a refund at least for my dish since my husband ate half of his soup. What started out as a great lunch date with my husband ended with us leaving after I finished my paloma

I'm a sucker for house salad with 2 scoops of chicken salad... not for the small appetite. Large portions. Tortilla soup plus chicken. Is the bomb. Flavor on flavor. Chips salsa guacamole is outstanding... fresh sandwiches, soups, also serves alcohol with quite an extensive list. Definitely a must try and you will thank me later. My second favorite restaurant in Tucson! Consistently good food, very different from anything found in chain restaurants. I’ve had at least 6 different salads, and they also have good sandwiches and Mexican food. Today it was a chicken and artichoke salad, chicken tortilla soup (hold the tortilla), and iced tea. My friend had her favorite, a Reuben. Good, friendly service, too. Recommended! (Photo is a different salad from a previous visit.)

Penca is a sophisticated Mexican restaurant known for its upscale cuisine and agave-based cocktails. The chic and industrial design of the space showcases the sophistication of Mexico City. The menu features pre-Columbian inspired Central Mexican dishes, such as roasted bone marrow with chimichurri, esquites with serrano pepper and cotija cheese, and beer-braised short ribs with ancho glaze.
There were seven of us for a 7:30 pm dinner. The restaurant was busy but not packed. Service was excellent. Most of us had different taco combinations. I had the prickly pear tacos, fish tacos, and carne asada tacos. All were delicious. Everyone else enjoyed their meals The mezcalitas were delicious! Definitely worth a visit.

We went to Penca’s website before our show at the Fox to see that every reservation time slot was open so we headed straight there to eat. When we arrived they asked if we had a reservation which we did not. We were told that they were completely booked and we could not be served. The hostess was going to let us walk out the door. Instead I asked if we could sit at the bar. She said yes that was open seating. While we sat at the bar we went back on their website, clicked make a reservation and every time slot was still available. So we made a reservation for 15 mins later. We went up and showed the hostess who said she didn’t understand because they are booked full and then said the system we booked thru isn’t even a platform they use. We let her know the system we used was the one directly on their website for booking reservations. We were fine with sitting at the bar but with all the empty seats and challenges with their reservations it was a bit disappointing. We saw several other couples come in after us experience the same issue and be sat a table. Side from the obvious lack of problem solving we had a very attentive bartender who provided great service and had a window seat to watch the kitchen team who were doing a fantastic job. We ordered the ceviche as an appetizer, three tacos (pescado, Rajas y papas, and cabeza) and the steak salad. The tacos were good as was the steak salad. The steak was a little stringy and tough to chew and with the char at times it overpowered the flavor of the salad. Overall it was decent place to eat before the show. We would definitely call ahead to make a reservation if we ate there again. It was annoying that when we left there were still 3 empty tables that sat empty the entire time we were there.

A recent dinner at Penca in Tucson was an unforgettable experience that easily earns a five-star rating. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was perfectly charming and welcoming, setting the ideal stage for an incredible meal. Beyond the lovely ambiance, the service was truly excellent. Our waiter was incredibly attentive without being intrusive, consistently checking on us throughout the evening to ensure we had everything we needed. We kicked things off with the great house chips and salsa. Our appetizers—the Esquites and the Queso Fundido—were both amazingly tasty and savory, a fantastic start that showed off the kitchen's mastery of flavor. For our main courses, everything continued to impress. The carne asada tacos were stellar, featuring great taste and wonderfully tender meat. Our entrees were the spectacular Costilla de Res and the Chile Relleno (a definite favorite). The Costilla de Res was absolutely exceptional; the meat was tender with great flavor, perfectly complemented by the bed of amazing creamy hominy. Just when we thought it couldn't get better, dessert arrived: the house-made churros served with luscious dulce de leche and chocolate dipping sauces. They were, quite simply, to die for. If you are looking for great, upscale Mexican cuisine in Tucson, Penca is an absolute must. We can't wait to go back!

The food was spot on. So delicious. So much flavor. Everything was just phenomenal. We did set up a reservation and everything was just great from getting there to eating and the food was just so good. Can't say enough about it. It was just delicious. So flavorful. Service was great. The atmosphere was perfect and the food came out reasonably nice, warm and perfect!....

Fun ambience. Happy hour drinks and snacks are yummy. Lots of servers made the experience better. Appreciated the Indoor and outdoor seating options. The bar is an interesting place to watch the bartender shaking up margaritas.

Though it was 103F at 4 when Penca opened on June 5, my friend and I wandered in as the first customers. He had eaten there many times in the last 5-8 years and decided that this was the place for me to experience. He was totally correct. The ambiance, the design, the tables next to huge windows that allowed me to watch Tucson at early dinnertime were all excellent. The fact that it was 1/2 price for the next hour didn't hurt either as we ordered 6 or 7 Hors d'oeuvres and some Bacanora to perk up the hot day. It all worked exquisitely to appease our appetites and mellow the moment. Every bite was perfect and the Guacamole was my favorite. I'll be back since I live only 45 minutes away.....

El Cisne Restaurant is a stylish and inviting Mexican eatery that offers classic Mexican dishes in a modern setting. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner or a casual lunch, this restaurant provides an elegant ambiance. Their menu features delectable options such as Bistec Vaquero, a flavorful Angus beef steak with chili, onions, and sauce, as well as Los Tres Amigos, which includes a beef taco, enchilada, and green tamale.
I went for a planned luncheon at El Cisne and really enjoyed the choice I made for lunch. The service was better than wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed the gentleman who played the guitar and sang. What a beautiful voice and how talented he is. He even took a request to play my favorite song. I wanted to go to this restaurant for a long time and am really glad that I finally had a chance to do so.

The only reason i gave it a one star is the owner! He kept looking at our table with scrutiny. We were the only family with sun kissed skin and he kept looking over at us. He went to every table asking about the food and service except ours. After paying for our large meal of $239 with a hefty tip he opened the front door looked at us as we were parked in front and asked the hostess if we paid for our meal. It was so upsetting to know people still act like that. The food was good and the service was great. Unfortunately after that type of treatment we wont be going back.

This place has been one of my favorite places. The food is awesome. Look, some people leave these 1-star reviews, because they had "bad" whatever; but this place is awesome. Please check it out. As someone who is not a reviewer, please at least take this into consideration.

I ordered the special margarita - a Prickly Pear Margarita. It was so good! I also had a Carne asada chimichanga. It came with salad, rice, and beans. It was full of steak, but it was dry as not much else was inside. I had red enchilada sauce to top it, but next time, I will request sour cream and guacamole. The service was good. I will definitely return if in the area. They have some regional menu items, so I would love to try some other items. They supposedly have great table-side guacamole and ceviche. There was plenty of parking when I arrived.

We were met by the owner at the door as he was about to sweep the sidewalk—the pride he took in his business was just the start. He was friendly and welcomed us in. The service was excellent, the food was everything I wanted, and the atmosphere was perfect for us. A wonderful experience of authentic food from different regions of Mexico. I would not expect Americanized Mexican food. Desert was fantastic!!

They went oou of their way to make my moms day extra special including making her a spexial cake (cinco leches) and also had their misician Catlos come in early to play for us. Shout out to the owner amd staff. Everyone in our party had a great time, and wa were extremely impressed with the consistancy and quality of every dish served. Not easy to do with a large party who orders sporadically and you guys nailed it!! I highly recommend Ell Cisne and I know everyone in our party of 30 will be back

We were in town for the holidays and delighted that we found this place. Came in on a Wednesday evening expecting something decent but we were very pleased from the time we walked in, til we walked out. The service was excellent... just the right balance of attentiveness and giving us our space. The Cadillac Margaritas were perfect, no bar mix in the drinks, fresh and potent. We had the tamale' appetizer dish... verde went to him and he commented on the sweetness and freshness of the masa. I had the red tamales and loved the slight bite of the sauce. For dinner we both had chimis 'enchilada-style', him verde and me red sauce. The shells were well prepared, flaky and fresh, and the pork had been seasoned with clove. So good! For afters we shared a coconut flan, which was lovely, and another round of margaritas. I recommend this place very highly... pleasant staff, excellent food, no rush. A lovely evening!

I think this is about the worst service I’ve ever had in a restaurant. We had to get up and ask for menus, get up and ask for beers (Then the server intervened and told us they didn’t have the beer the bartender said they had), then the wrong beer was brought to us. We also had to take our charge cards up to another server for someone to ring up our meal. To top it off, the food was very bland too. The only time the server actually jumped up and came to our table is so she could check our bill on the way out to see if we actually tipped her. I’ll never go again.

The restaurant is part of the renowned 'Best 23 Miles of Mexican Food' adventure, which takes visitors on a tour of beloved eateries in the area.
Delicious! I haven't been here in several years. The area has been overtaken by hipsters, so I was honestly a little worried that the authenticity or serving sizes or prices may have been affected. It was very busy, but the line moved quickly. The food was fresh and delicious, and serving sizes were generous. We had a mix of vegetarians and omnivores in our group, and everyone loved their meal.

I wanted to like this place as a lot locals came in here for breakfast. It has won awards in the past. I ordered the house speciality breakfast burrito. It was just ok fairly bland even with the salsa. The horchata was solid. Also there was a fly problem. When I asked about it I was told it's pretty rare. Also seems many of the chairs are damaged at the exact same spot. I didn't want to get pinched by sitting down. Also unpaved free parking lot in the back.

Good food, good portions, lovely atmosphere, and don't mind the pigeons, they're friendly and don't bother you. Tried the chicken tinga tacos, the corn tortillas could have been a bit more toasted but overall tasted good! Cherry on top, the chips and salsa (included with our dine in)

We stopped here on out way out to Summer nights at the Desert Museum. It was so delicious! The prices were great and there was something for everybody. We came in a group and they had an open table for the 7 of us (not always the case at small restaurants). Our food came out very quickly and tasted great. Small Mom and Pop place. Smells and looks not the cleanest, but locals eat there time and again. We both had small Mexican salads for lunch, it was plenty for a little Monday meal and real tasty too. Tried the chicken burrito enchilada style, green chili rellano, and green chili crisp. The food was tasty and very good but was missing some condiments like sour cream and guacamole. The beer price was a bit high for fast food dining. Although the dining experience was good, it’s really is geared more for take out orders. Will definitely return.

Micha's Restaurant is a South Tucson landmark that has been serving Mexican classics since 1976. The restaurant offers a range of dishes, including the famous "homestyle" beef patty tacos, an original recipe from co-founder Artemisa "Micha" Mariscal. The menu also features calabacitas, albondigas soup, and Sonoran-style burros. Despite some mixed reviews about cleanliness and service, many locals and travelers highly recommend the food at Micha's.

Stopped by today from a roadtrip to NM. Menudo was Awful, was 99% Hominey almost ZerO menudo meat. Salsa & chips was as if from taco bell. Nice restaurant and servers tho.
Steve G — Google review
Average. When seated for a party of 4, two of our chairs were dirty with stickiness and chip pieces. The complimentary chips and salsa were ok; one was spicy and one mild. The spicy salsa was actually spicy; I liked that. The chips kind on the stale. The service by the server was mid. For our party of four, only two people were given menus. We requested additional menus and were then given. The server did arrive promptly with waters with lemon when initially seated. The waiter never introduced herself by name therefore making it hard to get her attention. She retreated to the work station leaving our table to have to awkwardly wave here down. We order a pitcher of margarita and it served 8 drinks total. However it was a watery, diluted, excessive ice, and sadly only a slight taste of tequila. Not too big of an issue though because she brought a full pitcher and 4 glasses already filled with margaritas; a great bonus. The food arrived in 12 mins. The flavor was average. I was not tasting the seasonings that makes you a lover to Mexican food. I had a machacca burro with enchilada sauce and other had green Chile enchiladas. All four guest felt the same about the lack of pizzaz in food flavor. It’s sad because the place used to be very popular and so delicious 25 years ago. The prices have increased per post plandemic as expected but the quality and service has declined. I would like to give this place another chance however, I’d feel sad to be disappointed again.

Classic Mexican restaurant I first went to in the 1980's. Service was very good. The prices have gone up, with most combo meals being close to/above $20, even those without meat, like green corn tamales, rice and beans. I guess that's all prices these days but wow.
Jjdubs W — Google review
The food was alright. Our server was OK, but I think we were overcharged. We ordered two chimichangas ($15.50 each) enchilada-style (+$2.75 each), and one soft drink ($4.??). That comes to $41-$42 before tax and tip. Somehow we ended up paying $64.
Brent D — Google review
It's changed the old style and doesn't have the authentic setting it use too. But the food and service are fantastic. Worth the stop!! Check it out if your appetite says"I want Mexican food"!

Went to this place for breakfast. Ordered a small bowl of red menudo. The bowl came out and it was enough for 2 people. While the quantity was great tge quality was poor. The menudo was barely room temperature and was mostly undercooked hominy and zero tripe. Very watered down and bland. The chips and salsa were not bad. I may give them another chance but if my food is not served with flavor and hot then I will be done with them. Hopefully they will improve.

El Berraco is a vibrant Latin seafood restaurant located in Tucson, Arizona. The restaurant's colorful and creative submarine-like exterior sets the stage for a unique dining experience. This review would be 6/5 if that were an option. I called ahead on a Saturday night as I knew they’d likely be busy. I was told they did not take reservations but could put my name on a waiting list in person. I understand that a restaurant this busy does not need to bother with a reservation system as they’ll always fill up anyways, but it does make for a more frustrating experience. I was quoted a 30 minute wait and received a call right on time that our table was ready. We chose to sit outside. When I’d arrived, there was live music inside (a bit loud, but good). The restaurant decor is quite fun, with the outside wall looking like a submarine and a consistent nautical theme throughout. Take a trip to the bathroom, they’re cool as well! Our waitress was great and offered personalized recommendations. She was attentive and the rest of the staff seemed equally so. We were impressed by the speed the orders came out. The menu offers a wide variety of creative Mexican seafood options. We tried the calamari, a few tostadas, and the sailor rice. All of it was delicious. The sailor rice would be enough for two smaller portions. I can’t wait to return to try more entrees. Prices were fair, and quality was high. I was impressed in particular by the calamari. It was the most tender, least chewy calamari I’d ever had.

Wonderful experience, excellent food, top tier service. Our waiter was absolutely welcoming, friendly, and hospitable. He even brought us water after the meal, after paying and topping rather than rushing us out of the door like other restaurants. Octopus is a highlight at this restaurant and they did incredible, especially for how far from the coast Tuscon is. Highly recommend, the ratings are truthful.

A very neat and cool restaurant! The live music and the theme of the restaurant were really fun! For being in the middle of the desert the seafood was very fresh! Our server was the bartender and he had a full bar so I’m not sure why the restaurant made that choice so service was a little slow! The serving of food were on the smaller side but none-less very neat and cool food! A little pricey for the portion! It was a fun and neat experience! Would try again later in time!

My daughter and I were wanting to try a new restaurant tonight and we ended up here. We were immediately greeted and taken back to a table. Once we were in the dining room, the host noticed that a booth, in the corner, was being cleaned and asked if that would be better for us since I had Buddy, my service dog, with us. We had a short wait, less than a minute, and we were seated. We were immediately brought waters, chips and salsa. Our server then showed up and explained a few things on the menu and even brought me a sample of 2 typed of beef to try so I would know what I was ordering. Our cheese crisp came and it was delicious. Our meals came and my daughter had ordered chicken but was rought beef. Our server, Karina. took care of it right away and brought her a new plate that had the correct meal. We never had to ask for anything, including refills. Karina is an amazing server. She treated every single table in her section, including ours, with such detail, kindness and efficiency. I am not sure how long she's been there but she definitely deserves a raise or a bonus. She worked her butt off tonight. Every other person that works there is just as awesome as Karina. We will definitely be back.

We had a team lunch at Double L. I haven't been there in seven years and it didn't disappoint. Our table was ready in a huge side room when they opened, even though our reservation was for 11:15am. The room was decorated with traditional Mexican decor with music in the background. I ordered the combination #3 Red Chili con Carne. The meat was tender and the red sauce was perfect with not too much chili. The refried beans were fresh and traditional. The homemade tortilla was hot, fresh, and the perfect thickness. Six other teammates at the table ordered chimis (shredded beef, red chili con carne, or carne asada) enchilada style. They were huge and long as the big plate, topped with lots of red sauce and cheese on the very top. Let's just say there weren't any leftovers. The service was fantastic! The food arrived hot and fresh within 10 minutes of ordering. The wait staff was super friendly and kept our drinks full throughout the meal. We were in and out within 50 minutes.

I love this place but just want to give so much kudos to the service. Had an encounter with a gentleman approaching my vehicle today while I was looking for my purse that left me feeling afraid as I was alone as a woman. Went in and told the staff and the hostess who I didn’t catch the name of immediately informed who I imagine was a cook who went out and told the guy to leave, then proceeded to walk me out to the car to grab my purse. Then at the end of my meal without me even needing to ask, he came back up to walk me out again to my car. He continuously apologized and expressed his gratitude for me bringing it to their attention, but it was me who couldn’t fully express my appreciation! I believe his name was Manuel. Anyways, the food was delicious, and the service was the best I’ve ever experienced. I will definitely always feel safe and welcome there! Thank you Manuel and the amazing hostess for your support and help!!

Apparently, if you advertise margaritas on the rocks $2.50 during happy hour, it's the customer's responsibility to specify that you want a $2.50 margarita. Then, when you point it out, they refuse to change it from the $9.00 that they charged you. Got it. Won't be back. Food was below average. Cool building.

Fish with mojo de ajo in my photos. My husband got it whole and I got the fillet. We requested refried beans to substitute rice and fries. I was very impressed by the beans- they have amazing flavor and a nice creamy consistency. My Dad ordered a few appetizers, but I was only able to photograph the queso fundido, which was great. The bacon wrapped peppers and raw oysters were also delicious.

The restaurant was clean, but the atmosphere was fairly loud. We were there with two other couples. The corn chips were hard and tasteless, and the salsa was watery with little flavor. I love octopus and have had it many times. I was really looking forward to my order. The flavor was actually pretty good, but the octopus was very chewy. If cooked correctly, it should not be that chewy. Everyone else appeared to be happy with their orders.

All the food that we ordered was excellent 👌. The ONLY thing I can say is that your waitress needs to be more friendly, not looking to the customers will ask someone a question, she was looking at the window ( she was wearing a blue T-shirt last night) , the two ladies was wearing black are very good in customer service. Also I asked if I can change my fries to rice and she said it will be an extra charge (I need the manager to respond about this situation).

Latin American restaurant
Los Tacos Apson is a small, humble restaurant serving up Mexican classics such as tacos and carne asada. The owner, Francisco Durazo, is from Agua Prieta in Sonora, Mexico and serves some unique specialties like the huevo becerro criadillas.
Arrived just in time when I came here! This place is legit so no wonder it gets packed so fast! I finally got the chance to stop by as it was on my list to try. I had heard several people recommend the place for their amazing choices in different meats all seasoned and cooked great. My husband’s order included to Apson taco. Must be the #1 item we would recommend to try when stopping here. It’s a covered outdoor seating area and you get to grab your own toppings of choice. Would come here again. It was all very delicious and the price is great for the quality and amount of food you get.

Off the beaten path walk up taco shop with outdoor tent seating. The meat was cooked to perfection and the salsa bar is on point! I was too excited to eat the tacos so i forgot to take a picture of them haha. No beer but they do have coke and horchata.

I was in Tucson for several days on a business meeting. I found Tacos Apson and went there four times during my 5 day trip!! The tacos easy rasurado and beef rib plate were absolutely phenomenal. I’ve been to Mexico City and even the tacos there pale in comparison to this gem. I didn’t like Tucson at all because of the heat, but I’d move there just to have these tacos daily. Best taco shop in Tucson bar none.
Daniel T — Google review
Tacos were so good. I ordered a Few carne asada, a few tripas, and a few pastor. Tripas is usually a hit or miss depending on the place but this place did em real good. Carne asada tacos were the safe bet but I had no problem eating the tripa tacos and ofcourse the carne asada tacos came out real good. I woulda been disappointed if those didnt haha but dont fear. The pastor tacos were for my girlfriend, I ordered one because I like pastor but asada and a good tripa taco are my favorite. It was so good thar my girlfriend asked for my pastor taco so I only had a bite of it but I wasnt even tripping I was happy with my tacos and she was happy with hers and it was real good. good size too.

Just get the tacos Hass. They are awesome. This place is pricey. The torta was $18!

Los Tacos Apson 3501 S 12th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85713 $25 for four tacos and two Mexican Coke I recently indulged in a satisfying meal at Apson Tacos in Tucson, following a recommendation from my Facebook friends. The restaurant's setup was unique, with the kitchen housed inside and the dining area located outdoors, where a few fans efficiently kept the area cool and inviting. While the quality of the meats in the tacos was decent, I found the price point to be a bit high for what was offered. However, the standout feature of my dining experience was the salsa salad bar. The salsa salads were exceptionally fresh and well-prepared, elevating the overall enjoyment of the tacos. Coming from Chicago, where I have a particular way of enjoying my food, akin to how I like my hot dogs topped with a salad, the addition of the fresh and flavorful salads to the tacos was a delightful surprise. Looking ahead, I envision the salad bar expanding its offerings to include pickled carrots and jalapeños, which would further enhance the dining experience. Despite my minor qualms about the pricing, the exceptional quality of the salads ensures that I will definitely return to Apson Tacos in the future.

The Conyers of the burrito is so bomb no fat in the carne comes freaking with nothing else you can put your own condiments just can't go wrong.
Wendell Y — Google review
Tacos were delicious 😋 I tried the Apson (my fave by far), Pastor, lengua, cabeza and Asada. All were very good paired with the salsas and pickled onions. The 6 hour drive from San Diego was beautiful, and the tacos capped it off beautifully and so worth it!!!! I was disappointed with the rib, many reviewers and Mark Wiens raved about them..... mine was dry and lacking any real meat- tough/ dry and really a let down for sure 😞 Maybe it was luck of the draw, and I got a bad one. 🤷‍♂️ Next time I'm in Tucson, I'll be stopping by for more tacos for sure tho!!!!!

Mexican restaurant
Little Mexico Restaurant is a vibrant and laid-back eatery that has been serving up classic Mexican breakfasts, entrees, and combo plates since 1977. Founded by the Palomarez and Estrada families in 1993, this establishment places a strong emphasis on family values. The menu features an array of dishes crafted from authentic family recipes, such as tamales, chile rellenos, chile con carne, chorizo, and freshly made salsa.
Best green carne con chile I’ve had in decades!!!!!!! Don’t pass this spot up. U can’t die before trying this. Coworkers loved their orders too(enchiladas n crispy tacos). Capirutada had good flavor but wayyyyyy too soggy.
I P — Google review
Service seems to be an issue, I ordered the Little México Combo but it took about 40 minutes to get it. The staff should've informed of the delay right away and not 30 minutes later. Food was great and that's the only reason why I don't give them a one-star. Portion sizes are quite large, enough to fill two average people. The place was packed so it must be an iconic local restaurant.
Favo N — Google review
Great sit down Mexican restaurant. Did the C8 combo - beef taco, cheese enchilada, beef tamale. Spreading the lettuce on top of enchilada ruins the beautiful sauce. Not a fan of the store bought taco shell but everything tasted great.
Jason A — Google review
We came here as it was recommend by a local. The location leaves a lot to be desired and we were honestly hesitant to go there but she raved about the food so we gave it a try! The food and service were both excellent. Portions are huge and we all took home leftovers. The shredded beef taco and enchilada were great and their tamales were some of the best I have had. My only complaint is they give you queso and salsa with the chips and the queso was really cold- it would have been much better warm! Will definitely eat here again when back in town!
Jennifer P — Google review
I felt like only regular customers were welcome. I requested coffee refills several times then I still had to wait awhile 😩
Rita P — Google review
I highly recommend Little Mexico! My co-workers and I frequent the restaurant due to their variety of food, lunch specials but most importantly the taste! We recently had them cater for a quinceañera and the food was phenomenal, guests kept giving positive feedback about the food, and the staff were incredibly kind and professional. Top notch service all the way around.
Christian O — Google review
I have been to this location many times and the staff is always so very friendly and attentive. The food was as usual, so very flavorful and the cinnamon tea is a staple for sure. The only downside to the trip was the VERY long wait for one dish while everyone had already gotten their meals and basically finished... The was a first so we didn't make a fuss. All in all this is a great place, with delicious food and they're rarley a packed house when we visit *If you want a drink to-go you just order it that way initially because otherwise you'll have to pay extra for a to-go drink* They are very thorough with their with the cleaning if their tables and floors, cleaning product kinda filled the air.

Mexican restaurant
Maico Restaurant Mexican Food offers a menu featuring traditional Mexican flavors, including machaca and potato tacos. The restaurant gained recognition on the Travel Channel's Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern for its menudo and goat birria, showcasing its authenticity. Located off East 22nd Street in Tucson, it is a hidden gem known for its top-tier tacos and friendly service at the walk-up window.
This was my first time here. I pass by all the time but stopped by for some fish tacos. The tacos were simple, but for the price the portions were good! They satisfied my craving. The battered fish was hot and crispy. Oh! And the horchata was really good. More than anything, I really liked the atmosphere. It was a nice quiet and comfortable place to have a quick bite. I'm curious to try some of their other tacos.
Alán Q — Google review
This place has an extensive menu of Mexican staples that includes breakfast, too. I came one night just to get a couple tacos. The fish and pollo asado were okay.. no flavors really jumped out and there was more garnish than meat. The salsa was pretty average. The wait time was a little crazy for a non-busy evening. Overall, the food wasn't wasn't bad, but I was a little underwhelmed.
Kessashun A — Google review
Taco de lengua! You can see the pieces of “lengua” meat. Recommended!!! Also tried the “taco de cabeza”. Well served and good taste. I think the “taco de asada” and “tostada de asada” could have been better. Meat looked as if it was reheated!
Ana M — Google review
Tasty, tangy and well priced with a typcial selection off the menu and then some! Friendly team members who were easy to order take away food off of. A misted seating area makes for good vibes to watch the traffic go by. There's a few slap on prices that could be amended by otherwise a good experience!
Theo R — Google review
I had been wanting to stop by here for wayyy to long, and decided today was the day. Greeted by extremely friendly service, I feasted on astounding ceviche tostadas today. The flavors were amazing, so fresh, with generous portions, and service, that made it clear they care about their customers. Will be back again!

Chill place, good place to stop by on your bike ride. Food is tasty and portions are good not too big you feel like taking a nap. Had the carnitas torta with piña colada agua fresca which I highly recommend just ask for little bit of ice cream.
Marinno M — Google review
Excellent Mexican food walk up window. Great carnitas. Fast friendly service and outdoor seating only. Ring the bell in the order window when you're ready to order. I love chile relleno and saw on the menu that they make it into a burrito. The flour tortillas in Tucson in general are SO good and this burrito was a healthy portion size, not ridiculously large. Nice amount of cheese pull. The chips and salsa was excellent with a little bit of melted cheese over fresh and thin salty chips and fresh pico. The carnitas here is also very good.
Kristy O — Google review
I went yesterday on 1-31-2024, and I had got the Sopes combo. The meat was burnt and there was a hard pit or meat in the sope I was eating. I couldn't even eat it. It was disappointing. I will never eat there again.

If you're looking to indulge in authentic Mexican cuisine, Birrieria Guadalajara in South Tucson is a must-visit. This no-frills taco stand serves up local favorites like the torta cubana and huevos rancheros, alongside adventurous options such as tongue tacos. Their birria tacos are so delicious that you'll want to take some home! Don't miss out on the carne asada tacos, which are beloved by many.
Stopped to get some menudo. It was really good. Fresh and hot. All the fixings to add to it. I recommend this place if you're in Tucson.
C H — Google review
One of the best breakfasts I've had in Tucson. The strawberry tamale was surprisingly yummy. The pancakes had nice flavor if a tad overcooked. I was disappointed that the bacon and eggs had no bread option.
J P — Google review
Very disappointed with my experience here. The portions are tiny for such a high price — I’ve gone to plenty of other places where the bowls are much bigger for the same cost. When I questioned it, I literally watched them reheat food in the microwave while I was waiting. On top of that, they tried to charge me an extra $5 for a small styrofoam cup of just the soup juice. The sopa de birria looked like it was scraped from the bottom of the pot — hardly any meat, just small bits and pieces floating around. For the price, it’s not worth it. I won’t be coming back, and I definitely won’t be recommending this place to anyone.

Looking forward to trying their quesabirrias, nachos etc! I will repeat and i recommend! *Cash or Zelle only

It's champurrado time in Tucson! Winter seems to be upon us early here and nothing hits the spot on a cold day like a cup of hot and thick cinnamon chocolate goodness! The bean burros here are also really flavorful.

Jalisco Restaurante is a must-visit spot in Tucson, offering delicious Mexican fare in a cozy atmosphere. The red menudo is a standout dish, served piping hot and with a great balance of hominy and tripe. It comes with all the extras like limes, onions, cilantro, oregano, and ground red chile flakes. The toasted bollio bread served alongside is fresh and hot.
I can't complain about this place. It is so good. My family and I came to visit Arizona/family. I'm from Texas. The food here at Jalisco is exactly what I wanted. The people that attended us were very nice and inviting. I will definitely go back when I'm in town. Can't wait to visit my parents again. Y'all enjoy!!🤠

Custom service 10/10 very sweet and attentive! Green enchiladas TOO much salt I didn't finish and ironically the rice 0 flavor. My sister ordered a carne asada burrito and she mentioned there was no flavor. Not worth the money. The horchata is not fresh, it's powdered. Probably won't return
Kyree R — Google review
My family and I have been going here for years on Saturday and Sunday mornings for their breakfast and especially for their menudo... You can't beat it as they have many options both white and red with and without hominy and that can't be beat. Their service is always great and it's a solid atmosphere. Always feels like you're sitting there eating with family.

A TREAT to eat here in the heart of Mexican fare. Southside has so many restaurants and taco stands and vendors, it's good to run into a place that has very good food in a cozy atmosphere. Jalisco is a must stop.

Horrible food, they charge for everything. Horrible customer service, waiter never came to attend us. They charge for just paying with card. They had people playing music and asking for money at the tables, super loud. Won’t be coming back.

We have been here twice now, once for breakfast, and the second for dinner. This place is all around delicious! Their egg and chorizo is amazing, and their chicken enchiladas are the best I've tried so far in Tucson!! Love this place

Restaurant
El Charro Cafe is a renowned and historic restaurant located in downtown Tucson, serving delicious Mexican cuisine for decades. The restaurant's popularity often results in a wait for a table, but visitors can enjoy the courtyard and back bar while waiting. The menu offers flavorful dishes like the No. 3 meal and Mini Chimichanga with carne seca, with a moderate heat level. The restaurant's rich history is reflected in its atmosphere, providing an authentic dining experience.
Due to adverse weather in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metro area, I was delayed, but re-booked and re-routed on a later American Airlines flight ✈️.. I needed to eat, so among the options in Terminal B at Tucson, I went with El Charro.. I have to admit that I was a bit apprehensive, as I tried the downtown location two nights earlier and didn't walk away overly impressed.. That review will be done later.. That said, Matthew, serving at the bar, made my visit to this airport location quite grand!! From a pair of modified Cadillac margaritas (Patron Reposado versus the Añejo) and quite decadent grilled fish tacos, my visit to the airport El Charro was far more enjoyable than my visit two days earlier to the OG location.. The margaritas were smooth, and as singles, well-poured.. They were balanced, refreshing, and the half-salt and half-Tajin rimmed glasses were perfect!! The grilled fish tacos were amply portioned and flavorful.. I did add a dash of original Cholula to both, but I suspect they would have held their own, un-touched.. All in all, a great and reasonably priced experience for a restaurant bar and eatery.. 10 out of 10 recommend!!
Dave L — Google review
This is the only restaurant a salt in the Tucson airport. My flight was delayed almost 2 hours and I sat at the bar here and had decent Mexican food and very nice cocktails. The waitress was incredible! She really made the wait tolerable. 💃🏿💖
Gillian G — Google review
Way overpriced but it's an airport restaraunt so they gotcha. Food was ok, small servings but tasty. The burger i ordered could have used iceberg lettuce but they put the green wilted type. Fries were good but not much taste. My wife ordered the chimichanga and it was good but small serving. The waitress seemed to busy to really be attentive as we had to walk our cups to the bar tender to refill our sweet tea and lemonade. The waitress said they had military discount but I didn't see that when we got the bill. All in all it is like one of the only places to have lunch at this end of the airport. No wait for a table was a plus. Update, my wife and I both got heartburn from the food and upset stomach, downgrading this to 2 stars.
J P — Google review
The food we ordered was delicious, except for the mushy vegetables served with the 2 dishes we ordered- tropical fish with corn and mango salsa and stuffed tamale chicken breast. Both the red and green salsa that came with the chips and salsa were delicious, the green had a great kick to it! The charro beans were perfectly cooked and flavorful! The service was excellent and the ambience of the restaurant area was enjoyable. Loved the Spanish-language music and the decor both in and outside.
Dennise D — Google review
For airport dining this was legit. They had a new kitchen crew so food took longer than it should, especially for an airport restaurant, but it was good. Nice bar, friendly staff, great bloody mary and the prices were very reasonable. We'd definitely stop in again if in the Tucson airport!
S S — Google review
Good food, they open quite early, los Huevos Rancheros are perfect to start your day, good service too
Yaz — Google review
Good portion sizes and better service. My flight was too early, to get a quesadilla. A breakfast burrito
Jai — Google review
Good place for some food and drinks at Tucson airport. Breakfast menu is limited to 4 core entrees, but there were all good options. My breakfast burrito was great and came with two salsa options. Free coke refill to go was also very nice! For lunch the enchiladas were basic but good and the Bloody Mary was tasty. VictorB
