Playground
J.J. Byrne Playground, located in the heart of Park Slope on 5th Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets, is a delightful green space dedicated to an early 20th-century urban planner. This toddler hangout offers a variety of playground equipment such as swings, slides, and rails, along with colorful farm animal structures that ignite young imaginations. During the summer, little ones can frolic through the spray showers.
This is a fun place to spend time with the kids. The playground is full of fun things to do including a little splash are with natural rocks. There is a historical house from the revolutionary period that adds to the charm. It's also surrounded by nice little shops and restaurants, so there's a lot to do in the area.
Mahmoud R — Google review
Huge. Coming from a nanny: this place gets wildly crowded after school and during the summer. There is a lot to see and do (water, swings, etc) which is great, but super easy to lose track of a little one if you look away for a sec. It’s just massive.
Emily — Google review
Loved that this place has water fountain and. fountain itself! My nieces had fun
Aigerim — Google review
This park is packed with kids after school hours. It's great for kids who love a busy park. There are water features activated by 2 button timers. There is also a large turf in the back for football/soccer, which often has after-school sessions regularly. There are many nannies and regulars that live in the park slope area. There is a gated baby play area near the Stonehouse. The Stonehouse often helps host birthday parties and performers who use the park space throughout the year. Parents can feel safe since this park is in a very child friendly neighborhood.
Terry D — Google review
A wonderful urban oasis for kids and adults, delighting with a sense of history and magnificence. There is a lovely water fountain in the center of the park, providing cool water splashes during sweltering summer days. There are swings, jumble gyms, and an artificial lawn area. The most famous structure is the Old Stone House building which has been beautifully restored and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There are also many smaller garden areas with metal tables and chairs. The Farm Garden is absolutely beautiful and provides a wonderful experience for everyone interested in learning about how to grow vegetables, berries and flowers. A true gem.
Eva S — Google review
A great place for kids in all ages. Allot of trees with lots of shade for parents. Nice with water area for hot days.

Family friendly. Different levels of expertise for kids. Sprinklers and garden. Summer movies and music.

Nature & Parks
Prospect Park, Brooklyn's answer to Central Park, was designed by the same architects and boasts similar attractions. The park features lakes, boathouses, zoos, and a picturesque trail called the Ravine with its own waterfalls. Inspired by the Adirondack Mountain range in Upstate New York, this area of the park offers a serene escape within the city. Visitors can explore a 3.
Prospect Park is a true escape from the hustle and bustle of New York City, nestled right in the center of Brooklyn. Often overshadowed by its more famous counterpart, Central Park, Prospect Park offers a similarly stunning natural retreat—but with a fraction of the crowds. That’s what makes it so special. The park is immaculately clean, filled with expansive green spaces, shaded areas that offer a break from the summer heat, and beautifully maintained walking paths. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful solo walk, a family picnic, or a fun day with children, this park has something for everyone. There are several playgrounds scattered throughout the park, making it an ideal destination for families with young kids. One of the highlights is the Prospect Park Zoo, a charming, small zoo with a surprisingly wide variety of animals. Tickets are reasonably priced—around $11 for adults—and the experience is well worth it. Another favorite among children is the carousel, which brings old-school joy and nostalgia. A ride costs only $3, and the smiles on the children’s faces are priceless. What truly sets Prospect Park apart is its peaceful atmosphere. You won’t find the overwhelming crowds or endless streams of tourists here. Instead, you’ll find space to breathe, relax, and enjoy nature at your own pace. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, I highly recommend setting aside a few hours to explore this Brooklyn treasure. You’ll leave feeling refreshed, inspired, and maybe even a little more in love with New York City.

Came to see the movies in the Park, Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Weather was amazing! They give you these like lawn chairs but it’s on the ground, you can keep them, easy to carry. Free popcorn, seltzer water and T-Shirts. Very nice for the kids to run around while getting some fresh air. Sound was good to the speaker tower placement and no bad seats. Movie stared around 7:40, waiting for the sun to go down. Everyone was peaceful and cleaned up behind themselves after the movie was over. Did I mention, it was free? Can’t go wrong. Movie ended about 9:45 and walking back through the park, good lighting. No worries but again, I wasn’t alone. Good evening.

Absolutely love prospect park! It’s so beautiful and large. It has many pleasant areas to sit and watch people and animals. It’s super peaceful and serene. Wonderful bike and hiking trails. A must for natives and tourists alike:)
Christine E — Google review
This park is very spacious, clean and perfect for walks or other family and friends activities or just looking to detach yourself from the busyness of city life. Its proximity to the train station and nearby cafes and restaurants make it attractive too. So if you’re visiting Brooklyn or looking for another alternative park other than Central Park, this is the place to be.
Francesandfrancis — Google review
Very nice escape located centrally in Brooklyn. Walking through it you can experience peaceful rural areas, or see Brooklyn’s diversity in the more crooked areas. It’s a bit dirty in spots, and difficult to keep up with cleaning due to the amount of people that visit the park. Great for a run, bike ride, or simply to relax at. The restrooms are very limited, and only the one on the large building is somewhat passable. The other one on the west side near the playground is less cared for, as is the other two in the center and East side.
Rollinover — Google review
A great place to enjoy nature and the outdoors, with expansive, beautifully landscaped green spaces and paths ideal for walking or cycling. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing, making it an enjoyable experience for all ages.
Ammar H — Google review
I visited a couple of weeks ago, right as fall color peaked. I grabbed a coffee and wandered the winding paths in Brooklyn: leaves crunching under my shoes, trees shifting from gold to deep red, and that crisp, clean air. There’s room for everyone—you can stroll by the water, sit on a bench, and watch the foliage reflect on the surface. What I liked most is how the city noise fades into the background, leaving just the wind and a few quiet conversations. There are big open lawns for relaxing and tucked-away corners if you want solitude. I spent a few hours there and left clear-headed—a perfect spot to soak up autumn.
David S — Google review
I remember during covid this park as many parks in each Boro became such important places. From people who have roommates and needed a little space to excicise professionals and the once in while walkers and bikers in the park. It's really a great park . At some points in the park you can barely see the rest of Brooklyn and there are bird watchers of the variety of birds in the park. My wife and I would walk and talk or listen to music on our headphones. There are barbecues and birthday parties or sunbathing in the warmer months. From food bizarre yoga classes .the park peace officers and NYPD is a constant patrol.

Domino Park is a 6-acre green space located within the former Domino Sugar Refinery development, just north of the Williamsburg Bridge. The park opened in 2018 and pays homage to its industrial past with features like turquoise shipping cranes and an elevated Artifact Walk offering views of the Manhattan skyline. Kids can enjoy a factory-inspired playground with interactive climbing structures and water features for cooling off in the summer. The playground incorporates reclaimed wood from the original refinery walls and encourages imaginative play.
A hidden gem in NYC Best views of the WILLIAMSBURG BRIDGE and the Manhattan Skyline Free Tons of places to relax or chill. A good place for all ages. Playground for the kids and a great taco stand! If you like watching boats and ships this is the place.
Nicholas P — Google review
First time visiting Domino Park and we really enjoyed the experience. The views are breathtaking and there is definitely a vibe here! There are plenty of places to sit and relax throughout the park. The playground is very unique. We'll definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area.
Regina H — Google review
When I think of park I usually think of open space with playground equipment, tons of fresh air and lovely views all the way around and that is exactly what I get when I came here. My first time being there yesterday and let me just say the night time life is at the very least 100x better then the day. The city looks beautiful with the serene and vibrant colors entrancing the landscape, the atmosphere and architecture of the Brooklyn bridge skyline followed by the countless boats, yachts and cruises that stumble in silence from envy. You can jog, run a marathon, sprint, walk, climb, kick, heal, meditate anything to your hearts consent. I love all the different parts to the place because it’s all spread out and makes the place ever vast and wroth exploring. I felt so calm and relaxed chilling on the longe chairs feeling the fresh sea air breath across my face and the stillness of the waves and water gently syncing with the rhythm of my heart. Honestly I never really felt more at peace. This is als a romantic place to bring someone as there are plenty of beautiful spaces to profess your love for someone and even moreover bring friends and family and just party on!! #YOLO AM I RIGHT!!!!

I was exploring the area before an appointment and happened upon this park. I loved the chaise lounges and sat a bit to read. There was sand volleyball and a yoga class while I was there. I appreciate the public restrooms that were very clean. I was impressed by what I saw of the playground.

Hidden gem in NYC. Spectacular view of the city skyline. We enjoyed the summer river breeze. The Domino sugar brick building adds an old time feel. Beautiful place. You can stand and marvel the three bridges- Williamsburg, Brooklyn and Manhattan overpass. Love the fountains and the board walk.
RekhaMari K — Google review
I planned our first warm summer evening in Williamsburg at Domino Park. And we were not disappointed at all. On a cloudless evening, we settled down at the waterfront with our Neapolitan pizzas from Roberta's Pizza around the corner and enjoyed a perfect sunset. The view of Manhattan is magnificent. The sugar refinery and the old cranes are perfect Instagram subjects. Street musicians play throughout the park, and on certain weekend evenings, there are chilling DJ sets on the waterfront. There are also yoga classes starting early in the Morning which you can book.

Came on Memorial Day. Lots of people tanning and picnicking. All the space is done and constructed they got a taco place. Nice views of city. And plenty of tables and chairs. Nice place to walk around and hang out. A few bars right there. Best part is there is a bathroom right in area!!!! Clean too!!

Playground
Fun & Games
Imagination Playground is a modern and interactive play space designed by architect David Rockwell, featuring a sand pit, giant foam building pieces, sprinklers, and a slide. It encourages unstructured creative free play for kids using sand, water, and loose parts like foam blocks, mats, and fabric. Located near South Street Seaport at Burling Slip in Brooklyn's largest park, it offers a unique experience where children can create their own structures from foam building blocks.
One day last summer, we scouted out a new park and found Imagination Playground. We had such a great time with the kids here, that we had our cousins meet us at the same park the following summer. We came in from Long Island while they, from NJ. We took the NYC ferry to Wall St and walked a mere 2 blocks to the park. With sprinklers and sand for the kids, what more do you need to keep all happy. Every age can find some way to enjoy this cute park in the middle of the hustle & bustle of NYC. Yes, there are even bathrooms on the premises. Can’t wait to be back.
SoulStrum — Google review
This park has seen much better days. It was very seems to be very much neglected! The paint on the red house was chipping, all of the blue blocks have been removed, all of the umbrellas for shade are missing but one. The sand has a few left behind items, the bathroom was filthy! And the small shower room was locked. I'm not sure if the neighborhood even noticed. It needs a huge make over.
Radiah H — Google review
Just about everything is broken. there is sharp jagged pieces of metal on the broken red tubes for kids. hardly any shade and just a big pit of sand.
Rob R — Google review
Not bad for a playground in the midst of the urban jungle. Close enough to the harbor to hear occasional fog horns and smell the Hudson. Best part is when entering the playground, in your mind you can see Spongebob autistic meme "imagination!"
Daniel D — Google review
My son LOVED the water park! Every parent was helping each other and friendly... It's the perfect place to take your child on a hot day!!
Kiley H — Google review
The red tower needs repairing and they took away all the umbrellas. Needs more shade in the water play area.
Marjorie C — Google review
Wonderful playground for kids. No jungle gym but there is a large sand area with a slide. There are also some rope ladders in the sand pit. A very nice and large water play area with jets and water basins. Sometimes the staff put our water toys and buckets for the kids. Overall a very Wonderful playground.
Dev M — Google review
The sprinklers is okay for younger kids since they don't really want to get splash too much. The kids loved the sand. I liked the walkway/ board walk. It can be used with the kids scooters. It is a nice small park in an enclosed area that makes it easy to watch kids.

Playground
Pier 51 at Hudson River Park is a fantastic spot for families and visitors to enjoy the summer. The pier features a sheltered children's playground with various water play areas, including The Minetta Brook imitation, water sprinklers, bucket splashers, and geysers that provide endless fun for kids. Additionally, the park offers boat excursions, boat building, rowing, and sailing activities.
Great place for lunch with incredible views of New York skyline. lots of different cuisines to choose from. Quality food. Hip environment. Be sure to take the elevator to the rooftop for the best view.
Joanna R — Google review
Great place with good views to New Jersey and Manhattan South! This interesting construction has been built onto a former pier being destroyed by a storm. Nowadays it’s a kind of park with trees, stages for music, some food trucks and very clean restrooms. Close to it there is an old gate where the survivors of the Titanic tragedy went through when arriving in NCY.

Peaceful and clean. Good Nachos and Fries there. Lot of places to sit and enjoy the views of the city.

Heaven for young kids. Our four and seven year-old are screaming about getting to go back. There is a stream that runs through the park. A spray sprinkler thing. Some places to sit in the shade where you can watch the kids. Good clean bathrooms nearby. Three hours and the kids were not even ready to go.

Playground
Harmony Playground is a music-themed play area located in Park Slope, at Prospect Park West and 11th Street. Inspired by the nearby Lena Horne Bandshell, it offers play equipment resembling musical instruments. The playground also includes a large sandbox, climbing structures, swings for both toddlers and older children. Additionally, there are spray showers to rinse off after playing in the sandbox. Visitors can enjoy swinging bridges, slides, poles, ladders, intricate jungle gym paths and monkey bars.
The play area for the kids are well designed with all safety features in place. Multiple swings and slides are well designed with ample spaces for the kids. The children's up and down and pull up areas are well protected with soft spongy floor from safety point of view. The children are also well disciplined frequenting this harmony playground often. Situated in a very good segment of the prospect Park and worth visiting with kids. Best wishes Rangarajan Ramaswamy Dec 20, 2024

Would be 5 stars except the bathroom was closed. What the heck? Nothing open anywhere close by. What are people supposed to do? But the park itself is lovely with plenty to do no matter the age of your child. Swinging bridges, slides, poles, ladders, intricate jungle gym paths, swings, monkey bars and more! My 5 year old loves this park so much even though he resisted coming here but now he’s smiling ear to ear when I ask him if he likes it!!
Robert R — Google review
Best playground in the area. Lots for all ages. Real swings! Climbing equipment, space to run around. Sandbox, etc.

I've been to parks like Coney Island 🏝️ Luna punk Six flags But this is 7/10
Greenblazing L — Google review
Not great, not terrible. Has a good variety of features for both toddlers and bigger kids, and they are well separated. Plenty of benches for grown ups. The sandpit is dirty, but all of them are. My biggest gripes are 1) big ungated areas that kids can wander out into 2) half the water features haven’t worked in years and 3) almost zero shade, which is actually a hard thing to do for a playground built within a park with no shortage of tall trees. Anyway, it’s fine but needs a refresh like the one they gave JJ Byrne on 5th ave and 4th st. That’s the top tier playground in park slope
Tom R — Google review
The park seems to be forgotten, I ask around and they wanted to renovate, good idea, my little one still have fun playing there
Bridgette S — Google review
Nice playground. There are slides, swings for both infants and older children, a sandbox, and enough benches for the adults to sit. There are restrooms there, but it's pretty dirty; the walls are black, especially next to the hand dryers. Overall, I would definitely take my kids again. They had fun.
Sara F — Google review
Been coming here for years since, I was a kid myself now, I enjoy watching my kids play the only things I've never been crazy about is that sand box its pretty gross.. But nothing beats the bathroom that is also not so clean but besides that were all good that's Brooklyn for you 👍

Nepalese restaurant
Lakeside NYC is a highly recommended spot with great location, service, ambience, music and delicious food. The homemade feel of the dishes adds to its charm. The Goat Thali with rice pudding was a delightful experience. Visitors have enjoyed the Nepali Chicken Thali which came with kheer, a favorite dessert. The attentive waitstaff and clean environment added to the positive dining experience.
This week, I just happened to park my car right in front of this restaurant. The big red banner with "Grand Opening" drew my attention. Since I needed to eat something anyway, I decided to give it a try. The two waitstaff greeted me with smiles and were very helpful. The place is clean and inviting. I ordered the Nepali Chicken Thali and loved it; it even came with kheer, my all-time favorite dessert. The waitstaff were very attentive, checking up on me and topping off my water glass. The service and food quality were top-notch. The menu offers a diverse range of Himalayan cuisines, including Nepali and Tibetan dishes. For those unfamiliar with Indian, Nepali, or Tibetan cuisines, here's a brief guide: Indian food is generally packed with masala spices and chilies, which might be too intense for some. Tibetan dishes are a great starting point with their subtle masala spice and no chilies. Nepali cuisine has a bit more masala spice and some chilies. This restaurant lets you explore all these flavors, and with a rotating menu, you can enjoy something different each time you visit. I highly recommend this place for foodies and any food lovers. It's a fantastic spot to experience a variety of Himalayan dishes in a welcoming atmosphere.

This restaurant is owned by Nepalese people. As a Nepalese, I can tell you that they have some really good menu for Nepalese food. You can also get the famous buff momos. The momos are big, but the wrap is thicker than I like. Also, try the buff set. The servers are really nice and genuinely care about their customers.

The momos are absolutely incredible! We try to get takeout here at least once a week. We are also big fans of the karaoke when we eat in. Great vibes. The service is great, the food is amazing, and the staff is kind. Our favorites are the fried chicken momo and the fried chili Momo. This place is new(ish) but it’s going to be a serious contender in the annual Jackson Heights momo crawl 2025!!!

My first time having Nepalese food. Delicious!

“I had such a wonderful experience at this Nepali restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious—authentic flavors that reminded me of home. The momo were perfectly steamed with juicy filling, and the jhol had just the right amount of spice. I also loved the thali and thakali items—so fresh and tasty!!!!!!! !!! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff specially shef Basanta, his cooking talent was amazing others staff also kind and attentive. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel comfortable and cared for. Definitely a hidden gem for anyone looking to enjoy real Nepali food in the Queens .I’ll be back again soon with family!”

We had some momo and sha bha ley. Food was okay, but terrible customer service will probably keep me away from this place.
Dilasha A — Google review
I have been charged few extra $ without my consent! We went there on 07/19 evening time. We ordered jhol momo and bill was 13.14 WITH TAX. (Without tax it was 12.99 on menu). We paid with credit card. The bill on device was showing 13.14 but after coming home, I realized that we had been charged for $16.26 instead(adding the screenshot). My point is, even if it was credit card fee (which obviously we hadn’t been informed) or if it was service charge, customers should and must been informed before paying. Why showing $13.14 and later charging more $ ? I went through the previous reviews. Another person mentioned the same issue!!! Very disappointed and unethical. Not going there anymore and will not recommend it.

Really fantastic spot for momos. We had the johl and the chilly momos, and the chilly were some of the best I've ever had. I'd really recommend the chicken and vegetarian ones. I usually don't like vegetarian dumplings but these are amazing. I really liked the spicy boar as well

Central Park is a breathtaking green sanctuary nestled in the bustling heart of New York City, offering an escape from the urban hustle. Established in 1857, this iconic park spans over 800 acres, making it larger than London's Hyde Park. Visitors can meander along scenic walking paths and expansive lawns while discovering a plethora of attractions. From the enchanting Alice in Wonderland statue to Belvedere Castle perched on Vista Rock, every corner reveals something new.
If there was a perfect city park, this would be it. It just is an amazing park. You can go for a stroll in the woods, sun bath in a grass meadow, see great entertainment, much of it free, rent a row boad on the lake, people watch and so much more. When you are in the park, in some areas it might not even seem like you are still in the city. Anyone visiting NYC should take the time to walk through and explore the park. There is an amazing zoo, a carousel, ice skating rink, and even a castle in the park. The pictures are of the reservoir at the north end of the park.

Central Park is more than just the heart of New York City — it’s the city’s soul. Spanning over 840 acres, this green oasis feels like a peaceful escape wrapped inside the chaos of Manhattan. The moment you step in, the city noise fades, replaced by the rustle of leaves, the laughter of joggers, and the sound of musicians under the bridges. Every corner of the park tells a story. From the romantic Bow Bridge arching gracefully over the lake to the grand Bethesda Terrace overlooking the fountain, it’s a photographer’s dream and a wanderer’s paradise. The pathways curve through gardens, open meadows, and quiet wooded areas — perfect for a morning run, a lazy picnic, or simply sitting on a bench and watching life pass by. What makes Central Park truly special is how it reflects the rhythm of New York itself. On one side, artists sketch and performers play violins; on the other, kids race their bikes while couples row across the lake. In winter, the Wollman Rink sparkles with skaters, and in spring, the cherry blossoms paint the park in pastel shades. Whether you’re a tourist seeing it for the first time or a local escaping your busy schedule, Central Park never feels the same twice. It’s timeless yet ever-changing — a living masterpiece right in the middle of skyscrapers. In a city that never sleeps, Central Park reminds you to breathe, slow down, and simply be. ⭐ Rating: 5/5 A must-visit — not just for its beauty, but for the peace and inspiration it offers.

Central Park is owned by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation but has been managed by the Central Park Conservancy since 1998 under a contract with the government of New York City in a public–private partnership. In 1858, landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux won a design competition for the park with their "Greensward Plan". Construction began in 1857; existing structures, including a majority-Black settlement named Seneca Village, were seized through eminent domain and razed. The park's first areas were opened to the public in late 1858. Additional land at the northern end of Central Park was purchased in 1859, and the park was completed in 1876. After a period of decline in the early 20th century, New York City parks commissioner Robert Moses started a program to clean up Central Park in the 1930s. The Central Park Conservancy, created in 1980 to combat further deterioration in the late 20th century, refurbished many parts of the park starting in the 1980s.

I was absolutely fascinated by Central Park. I was expecting chaos but instead found an incredible sense of calm and a true spectacle of nature. What impressed me most was how clean and well-kept everything was. The autumn colors were beautiful, the atmosphere was peaceful (loved seeing the squirrels and horse-drawn carriages!), and the contrast of the green trees against the city skyscrapers is something you have to see to believe. It’s a stunning oasis in the middle of Manhattan. Highly recommended for a peaceful escape!

Central Park is absolutely beautiful !!! it’s hard to believe a place this big and peaceful exists right in the middle of the city. I loved exploring Belvedere Castle and Bethesda Fountain, and seeing all the iconic spots in person felt so special. Such a perfect place to just wander, relax, and take in the city from a completely different perspective.

After the watching the 'Stranger Things: The First Shadow' Broadway show at the Marquis Theatre on W46th St & 7th Ave, we walked the 0.7 miles up 7th Ave to the Central Park entrance at W59th St where I had my first NYC Hotdog from the Nathan's Hotdog stand. It was very tasty if a tad small for $6. We only walked in a very small section of the vast 843 acres, 2.5 miles long and 0.5 miles wide park, from the W59th St & 7Ave entrance to the Model Sailing Boat Lake and could have spent several days explore the different sections of this vast beautiful space, which is enjoyed daily by some many local New Yorkers and tourists. There were lots of people relaxing on the grass, walking, jogging, running, cycling & rollerblading through the park, together with rickshaws and horse drawn carriages carrying their passengers on the one directional circular road running around inside the park. We stopped off at the Le Pain Quotidien kiosk next to the Model Boating Lake for hot drinks & pastries at one of the tables, enjoying the late evening sunshine whilst watching people going by and children sailing their rented remote controlled model boats in the lake. There are public male & female toilets either side of the kiosk and a table service section for a selection of food & drinks. It wasn't too busy when we were there around 6pm on a Saturday evening and it was the perfect place to sit down, take a break, relax and watch the world go by in Central Park whilst enjoying a drink. We were fortunate to be there to listen to the famous Central Park guitar man, David Ippolito, playing some beautiful guitar music from across the boating lake opposite our table, in his regular Saturday slot. On our walk to the Model Boating Lake we passed the 1,800 seat open air Delacorte amphitheater inside the park, where free public shows of Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night' were being performed. My wife is a big fan of Shakespeare's plays and would have loved to have gone to see the play. However, as the vast majority of tickets were allocated via lottery to NYC residents we would have had to queue up in person in a standby line outside the theatre on the day, in the hope of getting one of these few ticket allocations and I didn't like Shakespeare enough to do that. As it was such beautiful warm late summer we decided to walk the 2.2 miles down Lexington Ave, from the park at 74th St down to our hotel at 36th St. Although it took a lot longer than taking the subway we really enjoyed seeing more of the city on foot.

I had never seen such a huge park in the city area. Spread across 800+ acres, this park has a lot of beautiful places to visit. We went to Bethesda terrace as our first spot here and it’s really worth visiting. Great spots to visit, sit, relax, run and click pictures. Loved the bow bridge. Must visit and highly recommended.

Heckscher Playground, the oldest playground in Central Park, was built in 1927 and covers 1.8 acres. It features climbing structures, slides, water features, and restrooms. The playground is famous for its rock hills with ladders leading to tunnels that provide hours of exploration for city kids.
Most exciting and well equipped playground in Central Park, with water fountains, climbing towers, swings, both shaded and sunny areas, plenty of space, and most importantly: decent bathrooms at the entrance, so you don’t have to run far in an emergency or to get them re-dressed. Recommendable, and it’s also close to the south entrances so it’s also well connected to public transport

Very cool playground for kids of all ages. We only played on the toddler section, but I would have loved the stuff for bigger kids when I was 6, 7, even 13 of 14. It looked like a blast.

This playground in Central Park is one of the best I’ve seen! It’s packed with fun features for kids of all ages, including climbing towers, swings, slides, and even water fountains for hot days. There are plenty of open spaces to run around, with both sunny and shaded areas for comfort. The bathrooms near the entrance are clean and convenient, perfect for quick stops or getting kids re-dressed. Its location near the south entrances makes it easy to access via public transport. Families will love the mix of adventure, safety, and convenience perfect for a full day of outdoor fun!

Family friendly spot in Central Park, the playground is located at the north side of the park. It's spacious and well maintained, providing ample room for kids to run around and play. What makes this playground unique is its proximity to a large rock formation. This rock not only adds a natural element to the playground but also offers a breathtaking view of the New York skyline. The view from the rock is particularly stunning at sunset, as the golden hues of the sun reflect off the city's skyscrapers, creating a magical sight. It's a perfect spot to relax and take in the beauty of New York City. Whether you're a local looking for a peaceful escape or a tourist exploring Central Park, this playground and its adjacent rock offer a memorable experience for all ages.

McCarren Park, located between Greenpoint and Williamsburg in Brooklyn, is a popular summer destination with a rich history. It offers various amenities such as playgrounds, sports fields, an Olympic-sized pool, and a running track. The park has been used for different purposes over the years and now features kickball courts, soccer fields, baseball facilities, bocce courts, handball walls, basketball courts, tennis courts, and running paths.
I had a lovely stroll through McCarren Park With my boyfriend, we both admired the blooming cherry blossoms and pleasant atmosphere. That day was a bit chilly and windy. I'm glad we were able to capture some pictures of the blossoms, even though it's not peak season yet. This park has a running/walking track, playgrounds, and sports fields. I can imagine this will be a nice park to picnic in when the weather gets warmer.

A fantastic park. During warmer months, it's amazing. Tons of people walking, playing sports, playing with pets, baby strollers, picnics, etc. Visit and sit on a bench. Just watch all the motion, movement. It heals you. And there is a guy called the Dkm. He plays from a sampler his own songs and in between plays Pink Floyd, The Cult, Peter Gabriel. Even some audio from movie scenes. Truly a New York experience. This is why you live in Brooklyn!

Located in Central Park, New York, Ancient Playground is an Egyptian-themed play area inspired by the adjacent museum's ancient temples. It also includes a water area with an obelisk at its center, from which water flows across bridges to create a waterfall. Situated near the Metropolitan Museum of Art, this playground offers a unique and engaging experience for children.

I live around the corner and nanny in the neighborhood. This is a great location and the playground is unique but better for 5yr +. Not good for toddlers and the adults watching them. It needs more ladders for little ones

Great playground near The Met with clean bathrooms, seating for observers and fun play structures for a variety of ages. Pro tip: there are two sides to the bathrooms. The bathrooms on the inside of the play area (not the ramp side) are usually empty.
Chelsea K — Google review
Visited with my granddaughter. The playground definitely was a good positive challenge for her from your traditional NYC Parks Dept set ups. I like the seating along the perimeter which allows parents to keep an eye on their children. Glad the sprinklers by the sand pit were on that helped with both cooling the kids off and removing the bulk of the sand before getting into the car at end of day. There seemed to be difficulty getting the taller sprinklers on so older children were stuck using other sprinklers which always becomes a problem with time. Otherwise clean, restrooms open, no homeless inside park area and well maintained.
Steve V — Google review
This was a great place to bring our son. It wasn't too crowded and it has quite a few options for children to play with. This park also brought back some nostalgic feelings as I remember coming to this park as a child but never remembering it was called Ancient Playground. Our son was a bit shy at first but quickly got the hang of how big the park is. Id have to say that the two best things for him about the park was the small silver tunnel slide and walking through the pyramid like structure that with multiple exits. Id have to say that it was a bit unnerving getting dirty looks from some of the other mothers and fathers who were a bit lighter skinned. Its 2020 folks. No need for the segregation. This will not deter us from coming back as our son loved his experience.

One of the best playgrounds in Central Park, and among the best in NYC. The place is awesome. Full of super cool structures to climb and explore. Great for kids all ages. It even has restrooms with changing tables. Amazing!
Adrian M — Google review
It’s ancient because of the Egyptian theme with the pyramids, I liked that it has water splash pad and sand pit however the pyramids isn’t really good for younger kids and it’s not a park you can sit and watch your kids you literally have to keep going around with them to see where they are due to the tunnels and pyramids , where I kept having to help my niece climb and bring her down . I was frustrated the whole time . I like the area it’s nice location next to the Moma museum other than that wasn’t my favorite

Rockaway Beach Park is a family-friendly water park with unique features such as the Tarzan Boat, diving boards, and a jungle gym above the water. It’s really nice and you could even go surfing, provided there aren’t very many people. But there are just too many people, especially during peak summer days. The entire beachfront becomes a free for all, so you need to get there early if you want parking spot AND a nice spot on the beach. Atlantic seawater is a little cold, but not enough to ruin beach experience.
Daniel S — Google review
Had a great experience, be aware that the water is freezing even in July. Other than that had a great day, the beach was full, but it was expected to be since we are in summer — not a lot of dinner options. Be careful on what area you choose to sit in; there is a part of the beach designated just for surfers. If you don't have a surfer table, you won't be allowed in the water. Guards and police won't let you in the water after 6, so I would recommend going early so you can enjoy it fully.

This is one of thee cleanest beaches in New York City. Though the tides and currents are POWERFUL! The lifeguards respond fast to incidents and the porter in the woman's bathroom does an excellent job at maintaining and cleaning the bathrooms. Everytime I come to this Beach I feel like I'm in another state or out of town. Since Hurricane Sandy the city has fixed the boardwalk up Lovely! Because it's deep in the channel, it gets windy on average, so bring a jacket or sweater if you're staying later in the evening. Even if you're not staying late bring a jacket.

Hudson River Park is a beautiful place along the waterfront with great views, walking paths, and plenty of space to relax. It’s very nice for spending time outdoors and enjoying the river breeze. However, the services could be improved—especially the restrooms, which are not well maintained and often very dirty. With better upkeep, the park experience would be even more enjoyable.

Wow, what a powerful place. I walked the old train trail that is now preserved for plant life. Utilizing this path to walk a nice length. It was so cold and still blooms to smell and feel. The water with freezing winds, pockets of Sun heating me up. I parked in a lot next to the water. 30 bucks for a couple of hours. 50.00 for all day. Also, free parking in New Jersey and transit is 5 bucks all day passes. Did this too, had tea and took my time. Remember to check cleaning street days so you don't get towed in Jersey.. Everyone is friendly and will tell you what days in that location.

This place is amazing and the baby loves it. On one side is the water world and on the other is the sand world. Both sides are enough for the kids to play all day 😄 It's just that there are fewer places for parents to sit. Overall, it's really good.
Emily — Google review
Really nice water park in brooklyn but as you can imagine it can be really busy during summer time. Perfect for babies and older children alike. It's located in a park, so it's easy to find toilets and picnic areas. Afterwards, it's great to stroll along the river and admire the Manhattan skyline.
Sandra F — Google review
Great summer fun in this water playground There is also sand playground next to it! We have fun here
Antoan N — Google review
Brought a group of kids today most of the water won’t come on. It’s crowded. There’s so little shade certainly not worth the trip. Slide Mountain would also be nice, but it’s in the scorching sun with no shade. I suppose if they were to actually have the right amount of water as the pictures showed it would be ok, but we heard from someone it hasn’t been working well lately.
Dana F — Google review
A free experience with so many fun things to do! They have water areas they have sand areas my family loved this place.
Zach J — Google review
Great little water park. Very unique. There were about 40 kids using the splash pad.
B A — Google review
Best water splash area! One thing to take note that if you want to avoid older kids go before 1pm.
Maria S — Google review
My daughter loved the Water Lab Sprinklers at Brooklyn Bridge Park so I gave it 4 stars. Most of the photos I saw of it prior to taking her there made it seem bigger than what it really is. It has built-in water activities that teach kids water flows and the concept of a dam but with the huge crowd of kids that go there (not to mention the crowd of parents monitoring their kids), it'd be great if it were larger.

Playground
Lincoln Road Playground is a delightful spot for kids and caregivers alike. The bronze frogs spraying water provide a refreshing play area, while the shaded space offers relief from the sun. Children can enjoy an elaborate jungle gym, slides, and a rare triple tire swing after their water play. The playground features sand areas and climbers suitable for both little and big kids, along with baby swings and plenty of seating. However, some seating may have obstructed views.
This is the perfect playground for toddlers! The play areas are low and easy to climb the slides are all the perfect height. There is a sandbox and tire swings. Lots of space for the kids to run around and ride their scooters or bikes. Love coming here with my little one.
Celeste — Google review
Tucked away near the southeastern entrance of Prospect Park, Lincoln Road Playground is a good spot for families with young children. The playground features a mix of modern and classic equipment, including slides, swings, and climbing structures, all set within a well-shaded area that provides relief on hot days. The splash pad is a huge hit in the summer, offering a fun way for kids to cool off.
Kristina K — Google review
Meh…. Considering the incredible location of Li Colin Playground it is very disappointing, needs a major upgrade. Isn’t up-to-snuff with the other playgrounds inside the Prospect or in the surrounding area, not deserving of this location, Hoping the city renovates it soon and makes it worthy of the community it serves. It’s next to bathrooms that have running water and that’s about the best I can say about them , although far from the worst , they often rate a 3 when a 2 means an eye watering stench that sticks in your nose and on your clothes for a while after you leave and a 4 is spontaneous uncontrolled vomiting.
Anton G — Google review
It's the people that make this playground special. Parents and caregivers all look after all the kids. Some of the play areas could use a touch up but it's nothing too concerning. Park bathrooms are located right outside the gates.
Ronald L — Google review
Kids love to play here . Great place to meet for a play date , or mom's get together and let the kids play! Enclosed playground.
Jeanne W — Google review
Perfect playground for my two year old athlete. He’s able to run up the long ramps and climb down the curly slide. Highly recommend for happy toddlers and good naps
Lara T — Google review
I would give the playground 5 stars, but for some reason my 9-year-old got bored quicker than I thought he would at a new to us playground so I took off one star. Nice new looking tire swings, a sand box, slides, plenty of benches and shade. The parents I encountered seemed very nice and friendly. The sprinklers were off when I visited. I am not sure if it was because it was raining off and on that day. The water fountain was also off, which was more annoying to me. It started to get busy quickly soon after the rain stopped. Wendy's, McDonald's, and Checker's aren't a far walk away. I forgot our bag of snacks, so that was convenient. There is a gate that can be closed, so that can be helpful.
Cherie0882 — Google review
This place is really fun. It’s often very dirty, so that’s a downside. It has sand and a climber for little kids and big kids, tire swings, and baby swings. I do wish they’d swap a baby swing or two for the flat kid swings to aid with autonomy. Lots of seats, but some are blocked in view. The far corner is tricky for adults and (some) kids to maneuver around. The slides are good. There’s a bathroom just outside the playground, though it’s frequently closed too early.

Tennis court
South Oxford Park is a charming neighborhood green space located in Fort Greene. It features tennis courts, a playground suitable for 5-12 year olds, and a unique cat-tail-inspired play shower that provides endless fun for kids. The park also offers an astroturf area, basketball court, and plenty of benches for relaxation. It's well-maintained and fenced off from traffic, making it safe for families to enjoy.
Astroturf, a 5-12 year old playground, lots of benches, basketball court, and pretty layout. Playground not suitable for the very littles, the steps are big and the heights can be a bit scary. There's a group that teaches soccer sometimes here. Park is fenced and safe from cars. Usually very clean, lots of sun.
Suanne L — Google review
Small corner playground that seems kind of tucked away, which is nice. Not the biggest, no swings but has slides and monkey bars and kiddos seem to enjoy it. Right outside the gates is a sprinkler and a turf area with benches. No rest rooms but I recently saw Porter potties out( not sure if that's permanent) oh and an adjoining tennis court.
Roxanna B — Google review
Really great space in the south Fort Green community. Surprised I hadn't been there before. Fun activities, good mix of shade and sun
Charles D — Google review
I am the home owner next to the tennis court. We have to deal with the tennis balls coming over and landing on our deck. We have to deal with rude people climbing the fence onto our property. People asking us throw the balls back. People ringing my door bell asking us to return their balls. There are signs asking them not to bothered the homeowners but they all have faded and unreadable. They need to be replaced. I so tired . 😫 Filing a complaint against the city.
Mary S — Google review
The park has improved a lot with the changes. The view is great. The only problem is the bathroom situation. Kids go to the bathroom frequently and without a bathroom it makes it hard to go as often.
Kathy G — Google review
The kids love the park.
Kenyetta F — Google review
I have not had the pleasure of spending time in this park, but I am grateful that it is a place where people can gather and have fun. The purpose of writing this review is to explain my family's story. Before I was born, my father owned a piece of property where this park now lays. He worked two jobs to maintain it. He rented the upstairs to my mother's family and it's where he met my mom. They had their first child, my sister. Then things turned for the worse. My mom suffered from post partum depression and a slew of other mental health issues due to abuse from her family. My mom ended up in the psych ward and my dad a broken man. He stopped working and eventually lost the house. They became homeless and then I and my brother were born. I went back to find the place, but found it was knocked down, but there was another dilapidated home left on the spot. It eventually was knocked down and the park was built. As bittersweet it is for me to see it gone, it's also wonderful to see it being put into good use in an area that can attract nature in the city. For that I am truly grateful to the Creator for His bountiful Love. As for me, well, God had a great plan for me coming from a truly humbled situation and now I get to live in a lovely wood stick home in CT. I wish my parents and grandma were alive for them to live here despite the losses they endured. So enjoy the beautiful park where so much joy can be had now that the sorrow is gone. Enjoy the beautiful gift given to you and know that God had a greater plan for the former inhabitants. Life is precious. Make every moment joyful and with a heart full of love and happiness to be shared with others. Stay blessed Brooklyn. I love you Brooklyn and miss you dearly.

So nice, clean and quiet . I want to go back there to exercise and do some filming. It has big flat rocks to sit on, tennis court. Area to walk and sit down on.

Ferry terminal
Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6 / Atlantic Avenue offers a variety of attractions and activities for visitors. The area features natural spaces, sand volleyball courts, picnic tables, and a lawn with stunning views of Manhattan. The green space has a meadow-like feel with wildflowers and provides an open and airy ambiance by the river. Additionally, there is a large interactive playground with splash pads for children to enjoy.
Every single time I come down here, no matter what time of year, I am in awe of the beauty of this place — perfect view of manhattan and the Brooklyn bridge. Rent a bike and coast along the water! Or just grab an ice cream or a slice and find a bench to enjoy the peaceful waterfront. They also play a ton of sports out here and have various performances! Great day on the water.

Went to Governor's Island from here - The trip was free before Noon on the weekend. Sat up top for some great views and sea breez on the 8 min ride to the island
Pd S — Google review
Great place for kids to play. There is something for the smaller once 1-3, and 4-7. Fantastic water area on those hot days like today. I highly recommend Pier 6.

Beach volleyball courts, green space and great views of Wall Street area and Governor's Island

The ferry to Governors Island leaves from here during the summer months. It is under a 15 minute walk from Borough Hall subway station.
Y B — Google review
Pier 6 is a great exit point from the New York ferry if you want to walk through Brooklyn bridge Park and see the activities along the way. This old harbor area is now a recreation center with great walkways and activities that is enjoyable to see in the spring fall and summertime.
David S — Google review
Every time I come here, they add something new to the park. Some new parts are waiting to be opening, but I go to the end of the pier to relax and get away from the city noise. Sometimes, you can catch awesome views of the fireworks on Pier 6, if you know where the barges are located.
Aneudi D — Google review
Got nothing to do? Hop the boats! They offer a different view than the parks & bridges. Even YouTubers would get a kick out of the motion views. 2.75 only. Make sure to ask for transfers either direction, especially if you're going to Coney Island. Different from DOT ferry to SI. These boats get you to Governors Island as well. Recommend.

Playground
Located on Eastern Pkwy between Washington Ave & Flatbush Ave, Mt Prospect Park Playground features two large play structures, toddler swings, benches, and stone chess tables. In the summer, visitors can enjoy a splash pad and a spacious field adjacent to the playground. While it may not be worth a subway ride solely for the playground, when combined with nearby attractions like museums, it offers a well-rounded day out.
I remember going to this park when I was just a kid I love going to the park especially this park I mostly spent my time on the swings all day but now that I'm older I want to go back to this park for 3 reasons 1. To go see if it still there and still the same when I was kid 2. I want to take my bike there 3. I want to go bike riding I don't remember much about the park because it's been a long time but I do know there a track there to ride hard on
Greenblazing L — Google review
Totally awesome, much overlooked park, cute and grand , buttressed by Brooklyn’s Jewels, the Main Branch Library and the BK Museum and the BK Botanic Garden, pretty amazing neighbors, decent bathrooms at playground (relatively )
Anton G — Google review
Parents, here is the bonus to this park. You'll find a playground for kids, around age 6 and below; based on the equipment. Kids with larger build may have difficulty trying to fit on the swings or navigating the jungle gym.
