Z & Y Peking Duck is a small Asian eatery in Chinatown that offers a variety of Sichuan and Asian fusion dishes. The restaurant recently expanded to open Z & Y Bistro, which features an exciting new array of Asian fusion dishes. The menu includes items like Heritage Berkshire pork collar, grilled king oyster mushrooms, and three hot pot varieties.
So delicious!! The Peking duck is definitely the best in town- so tender and crispy!! We also ordered -cabbage -duck bone soup -spicy eggplant -honeydew shrimp And it was all delicious! Staff is so attentive as well, great experience

Z&Y Restaurant is hands down one of the best spots in San Francisco for Peking duck but make sure you call ahead and reserve your duck because they do run out, and it’s their star dish for a reason. The duck is top-notch: beautifully roasted, shiny and crispy skin, and not overly fatty, which makes it even better. It’s served with soft pancakes, green onions, cucumber, and even a small dish of sugar. I was curious about the sugar until I overheard the table next to me dipping the duck skin in it is game changer! The quality is excellent, and while you might find cheaper Peking duck elsewhere, the flavor and texture here make it well worth the price. We also ordered the Chicken with Explosive Chili Pepper, which featured a generous amount of Szechuan chili peppers. It delivered that classic mouth-numbing sensation, but in a perfectly balanced way not overwhelming at all. The fried chicken pieces were seasoned perfectly and packed with flavor. On top of the amazing food, the service stood out. Even though the place was busy, one of the servers took the time to explain the dish’s origin and the best way to enjoy it, which made the whole experience even more special. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Chinese flavors especially the duck. A must-visit when in SF!

We arrived at Z&Y Peking Duck in San Francisco and were fortunate to get a table as walk ins, as the restaurant was busy. Once seated, our server welcomed us warmly and took our drinks order before returning shortly after to take our food order. We decided to go for the half portion of Peking duck with pancakes, which arrived beautifully prepared and tasted really good. From our table we were able to watch the chef prepare the duck, which added to the overall experience. One of the servers, Jenny, kindly guided us on the different ways to enjoy the duck and her advice made it even more enjoyable. After finishing our appetiser, our main dishes arrived which included Mongolian beef and chicken fried rice. Both dishes were served fresh, full of flavour and very satisfying. The combination of the food quality and the attentive service made the evening a memorable one. Overall, our experience at Z&Y Peking Duck was excellent and we would highly recommend a visit for great food and warm service from the team.

Absolutely delicious! I came here for the Beijing Roast Duck and ended up falling in love with everything on the menu. You can really taste the chef’s care and skill in every dish — from the flavor, color, and aroma, everything feels beautifully balanced and thoughtfully prepared. The tea service here is also amazing — their Kung Fu tea is smooth, fragrant, and served with such attention to detail. It really completes the whole dining experience. The restaurant has a relaxing, elegant atmosphere, and it’s quite popular with locals and Americans alike. Whether you’re a fan of authentic Chinese food or trying roast duck for the first time, this place is a must-visit!

Z & Y Peking Duck Z & Y anchors itself on the classics, with Peking duck as the centerpiece—crisp skin, tender meat, no shortcuts. A half bird feeds two comfortably; larger groups should take the whole. Early arrivals can usually secure duck without booking. The supporting cast matters: xiaolongbao with fragile skins and rich broth, plus a menu that stays traditional while slipping in quiet substitutions only insiders will notice. Nothing flashy, just refinement. An 8% surcharge funds staff insurance, and it shows in the sharp, motivated service. The room is clean, stylish, and tightly packed. The clientele tells the story: Chinese families marking occasions alongside mixed groups of Westerners and Russians. That dual appeal is hard to pull off. Z & Y doesn’t innovate loudly. It executes precisely, and the results justify its standing as one of Chinatown’s most reliable dining rooms.

Absolutely delicious Beijing roast duck and spicy dry pot bullfrog! The flavors were authentic and unforgettable. Our server Stanley was incredibly attentive and friendly — excellent service! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great Chinese food.

This is a must visit. The staff are genuinely happy, not just friendly, but really happy. Makes me want to work here. The food is amazing as well. The Duck is crisp and served on a warmer. They have unique dishes and it is delicious. Did I mention I have never seen a happier staff?

Had a fantastic meal at Z&Y Peking Duck!! Ordered the whole duck in advance when we made the reservation. Ling was a really great server and attentive! Also got the pork belly with preserved greens, spicy duck blood, and green beans - all delicious! Finished with the almond curd which was adorable and tasty, but not too sweet. Would definitely come back!

Z & Y Restaurant is a popular spot known for its Sichuan and Northern Chinese cuisine, featuring dishes with bold and spicy flavors. Despite the misconception that Obama dined here, the restaurant has hosted other presidents and foreign ministers. The menu offers a variety of super spicy dishes, clearly marked for those who prefer milder options.
After experiencing our first night market in Chinatown, our friend surprised us with reservations for Z & Y restaurant. High vibe restaurant. The Prawns were to die for. All the food was amazing. Make sure to specify non spicy. We had lamb and forgot to ask to make it mild so was too hot for my taste.

This is an absolute must try when in Chinatown SF. The food is very authentic and flavorful. We tried the clam specialty dish which was steamed clams in a preserved vegetable soup base with garlic. Super interesting flavor combinations. The chili dumplings were delicious with thinner skin than their traditional Chinese counterparts. The mapo tofu was a wonderful blend of spice and numbing while still having the underlying flavors. The star dish was the tea smoked duck which was absolutely to die for. You wrap it in a thin wrap with chives and sauce. I will come back.
Jameson S — Google review
Tasty typical delicious chinese flavour. Services is prompt but not attentive. Dishes came out fast. The food portion is a bit on a small side of a scale if compared to value. Will be back to try more dishes when visit SF again.

Please take some time (in your itinerary if you’re traveling to SF or make a point as a Bay Area local) to visit Z & Y Restaurant!! This place has some of the best Sichuan food in the entire Bay Area! The fry on the chicken and shrimp were amazing and the meat inside was still tender and juicy! The sauce on the shrimp was sweet and tangy. The beef had the best spice and heat to it, and the dumplings were delectably sour! There’s a reason why presidents have been to this restaurant! Please come and visit!

We dined here on our first evening in San Francisco. Terrific place! The atmosphere reminds me of Chinatown restaurants back home in NYC. Friendly, helpful servers, and boy, did our dishes come up fast! The lamb hot pot was very spicy but enjoyable. The Eggplant, General Tso's Chicken Beef Chow Mein, were all excellent. We weren't crazy about the tea smoked duck or the pork dumplings, but all in all, it was a great place for dinner. I'd certainly come back to sample some of the other dishes.
Anil S — Google review
Right away, they lost a star because there was a hair on one of our plates. So cleanliness needs attention to detail. We got the spicy clams and the ox tails in red wine. Both were good, however small portions. Half the clams didn’t have anything in them! So for the price and what we actually received it was disappointing.

Our wanderings led us into the vibrant labyrinth of San Francisco’s Chinatown, where lanterns sway like drunken philosophers and every alley hums with the promise of either enlightenment or indigestion. There, tucked between apothecaries and shops selling mysterious trinkets that defy both science and warranty, we were seeking Z & Y Restaurant. The place possesses all the charm of a tax office, no pretense of grandeur, no flattering lights, no velvet draped corners for the idle rich to whisper inanities. The proprietors perhaps appear blissfully unaware that aesthetics might play any role in the dining arts. And yet, what they lack in polish, they more than redeem in palate. We ordered a modest few dishes, by which I mean the table soon resembled a battlefield of abundance. At first sight, I felt the sort of despair a man feels upon seeing his week’s correspondence pile up on Monday morn. “This,” I whispered gravely, “will not end well.” But lo! The tragedy never came. Against all reason and integrity, we made it to finish line. And then, ah, cruel twist of fate, a dessert appeared. Sweet, subtle, and unexpectedly divine. One might call it the sally after the storm, a confection so delightful it could almost make one forgive the chairs, which appear to have been designed by an enemy of comfort. This place may never seduce you with chandeliers or fine linen, but it woos the stomach as a poet woos a muse: with sincerity, passion, and a touch of beautiful chaos. It is not fine dining but it is honest dining, and that, is far rarer.
Shawn R — Google review
I know everyone thinks this is the best place, but I’ve had better in and outside of Chinatown. The spicy chicken was fair to decent. The duck was really good but for true Peking crispy duck you need to go down the street.

R & G Lounge is a renowned Cantonese restaurant that has been a staple since 1985. The multi-story establishment offers a casual downstairs space and a more formal upstairs room, making it suitable for various occasions. It's a popular spot where people gather to indulge in authentic Cantonese cuisine and create lasting memories.
A magnificent meal at the R&G Lounge. This is one of Chinatowns best restaurants. Everything was was terrific so I’m not going to waste any time. The sea bass and the chicken surprisingly stood out the most. This restaurant is a good spot for special occasions and is perfect for bigger groups. The staff is attentive and quick. Overall a great dining experience I would recommend. Dos thumbs up 👍👍
Mario C — Google review
I recommend coming here if you are in a large group like 10-11 people. But I would also not recommend the banquet menu. You get 9 items plus dessert for $708 under menu B. However our group of 11 ordered 13 dishes plus dessert plus alcohol and our sub total was only $583 and that included not just 1 but 2 crabs and a whole Peking duck. This ended up being a better deal doing a la cart and we had just enough food for everyone to share family style. We ordered: 2 x salted egg yolk crab Whole Peking duck 2 x Steamed clam and egg 1 yang chow fried rice 1 special fried rice Combination seafood garlic noodle Honey spare ribs Salted egg yolk pumpkin Garlic stir fry pea shoots Scallops w/beef steak Prawn with honey walnuts Service was good despite they were very busy. It took 30 minutes for the first dish to come out. While we waited we asked for peanuts. I saw on the menu they charge $5, but didn’t see it on the bill. Other restaurants give peanuts without having to ask. The peanuts were plain, unroasted and unsalted. Most of the dishes were great. However, the special fried rice fell short. There was nothing special about it. It tasted like plain egg fried rice. Some of the clams were chewy while others were tender. Prawn with honey walnuts needed a touch of acidity in the coating.
Hi A — Google review
We walked into the restaurant on a Saturday night and only waited about 30 minutes — not bad at all! We had no idea this place was such a hidden gem in SF. We ordered the fried rice, crab, and sticky ribs. The food was absolutely amazing! I opted for the ginger and scallion preparation for the crab instead of their usual salt and pepper style — and I’m so glad I did. It was incredibly flavorful and just packed with goodness. The sticky ribs were also a highlight — so tender! They were a bit on the sweet side for my personal taste, but still delicious. And the fried rice? I would recommend it to anyone. It’s seriously addicting! Now, the only downside to our experience was the service — specifically, our assigned server. Unfortunately, he seemed completely uninterested in helping us. He took our order and never came back to check in. We were missing our rice, and all the food had already been served. Turns out it wasn’t even ordered in the first place. Thankfully, another server — an older gentleman — noticed and stepped in. He was amazing. He took care of everything: brought us the rice, refilled our water, gave us a clean plate for the crab, and made sure we had what we needed, all while managing three large tables nearby. Honestly, he did everything our original server should have been doing. What frustrated me most was when the check came (which we had to ask the other server for), and suddenly our original server reappeared — just in time for the tip. It was disappointing because he did nothing to contribute to our dining experience. I didn’t want to make a scene since it was a busy night, so we just paid and left, but management should really take a closer look at how tables are being assigned. The other server absolutely deserved the tip — and the recognition. Overall, the food was fantastic, and I’d definitely come back — but I hope we get the right server next time.

What a fabulous meal! Incredibly delicious food, really efficient and caring service, and great vibe! We loved the salt and pepper crab, the eggplant, the honey spare ribs, the cumin lamb and the Peking duck! Everything we ate was great!! Not cheap, but really good food!! We pounced on the food before we remembered to take pictures, but here are a few.

Has not been back here for over 10 years. Did not know that they only open the basement for lunch. I think they open second floor for dinner and main floor for bar in the late night. Had lunch with a client. Ordered honey spareribs, beef brisket and turnip, dried scallops with melon, and salted fish fried rice. All the dishes were very good and full flavor. However, one dish came short on value was the dried scallops with melon. The portions are smaller compared to other restaurants but have full flavor. I recommend and must try is the honey spareribs. Arrived at 11a on a Wednesday, only two tables were occupied. Most people started to come around 12n and was a full house by 12:30.

We had a 9-hour layover and decided to explore San Francisco with my family. What a great decision! We found this amazing restaurant, and everything we tried was delicious. The duck and bao buns were a true delight: flavorful and cooked to perfection. It was the perfect way to pass the time and turn a long wait into an unforgettable memory. I highly recommend this place for a fantastic family meal!

This is my fourth visit to this restaurant, which I consider one of the best Cantonese restaurants in the U.S. The flavors and atmosphere always bring back memories of home. At this point, I come here not only for the food itself, but also for the sense of nostalgia it gives me. I truly appreciate that they’ve maintained such quality, making it possible to enjoy an authentic taste even far from home.

R&G Lounge has been a Chinatown staple for years, and there’s a reason it’s Michelin recommended time and again. While the menu offers plenty of variety, my advice is to stick with the seafood. It is their true specialty. I grew up on the East Coast and am used to seeing seafood restaurants with live tanks up front. At R&G, the tanks are tucked away in back, but you’ll catch glimpses of them as servers move between rooms. The restaurant itself spans three levels: street level, upstairs, and a basement where we were seated. The staff runs things like clockwork. The hostess had an earpiece and radio, keeping everything flowing smoothly. Service is brisk but attentive. You’re never left waiting, yet you don’t feel rushed. We ordered the Peking duck and the seafood wraps. The wraps were completely new to me and turned out to be excellent. Sitting next to a local couple celebrating their 13th anniversary made the experience even more memorable. The wife told me she loves R&G because it reminds her of her mother’s home cooking, while her husband said the seafood wraps tasted like something his grandmother would make. I cannot think of higher praise than that. Their lobster dish looked phenomenal, and I could not resist snapping a photo. This was my third visit to R&G, and every time the service has been consistently solid, but the seafood always steals the show. When I am in San Francisco, this is my favorite spot in Chinatown.

Dim sum restaurant

Restaurant
Yank Sing (Stevenson St.) is a renowned dim sum restaurant that has been serving classic dim sum from pushcarts since 1958. It's a bustling Chinese establishment known for drawing large crowds, offering over 100 rotating dim sum options, including vegetarian and vegan choices. The family-owned restaurant has two locations and is famous for its original creations like Grandma Alice's chicken and mushroom dumpling.
The last time we ate here was over 10 years ago. My wife and I still remember this place because the food was very delicious. We just had to come back since we are visiting SF with the family. I highly recommend to try everything, lol. The food is very flavorful. Make sure to make room for the Sesame Balls and Egg tarts. We waited about 30-40 minutes for a party of 4 adults and a baby. It's a bit pricey, but then again your in SF. It's worth it. The bathrooms are very clean. 5 stars all the way. Great food and service.
Florencio J — Google review
It’s a clean and tasty restaurant for dim sum, though not everything was deeply impressive. The portions felt a bit small for the price, and a few of the female staff members came across a little brusque. Considering how expensive it is compared to other dim sum places, I rated it by fine-dining standards. It’s definitely an upscale restaurant, but it doesn’t quite reach the level of the very top establishments. As far as I know, it was only once mentioned by Michelin back in 2016.

OMG, absolutely loved this place! The staff is incredibly friendly, and the service was super quick. We tried the savory vegetarian dumplings, snowpea dumplings, mushroom dumplings, and spinach dumplings, everything was delicious, especially the savory vegetarian ones were our favorite, so full of flavor! We also had the egg fried rice, which was great, and for dessert, we tried the Lychee Torte, loved it! It had a unique mix of popsicle or ice cream cake vibes with a cheesecake-like base. A 10/10 must-try spot for all vegans and vegetarians!

When in San Francisco, my spouse and I will jump at any chance to eat Chinese cuisine as there is a depressing lack of it back home on Maui. We texted a friend who remembered the place he enjoyed so much, so here we were. ATMOSPHERE: Located in an alleyway-like side street in the Embarcadero, it's not a huge place, but sports a good number of indoor tables along with a covered outdoor patio. MENU: Dim sum and traditional Chinese (ask for additional menus). FOOD: Peking Duck with Bun I thought I was getting a plate of duck but instead received a single bao bun which I don't care for. It was very mainstream and came with the traditional sauce and veggies. Mushroom Dumpling The server said they were shrimp and mushrooms but neither could be detected. It had the taste and consistency of fish cake and needed shoyu for flavor. Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce AKA choy sum. They were served chilled, a first for me. Good portion, fresh and steamed perfectly but could've used more oyster sauce drizzled on top. Potstickers (6 pcs.) Pricey but they are of the larger variety and stuffed full with a savory pork mixture. No sauce was available sans for shoyu, vinegar and chili oil. Honey Baked Seabass Holy pricey for the portion size!? The small, boneless filet was insanely tender like butterfish and finished with a slightly sweet-savory honey sauce. Very tasty but not worth the price. Minced Chicken in Lettuce Cup That's right, just one leaf of an iceberg lettuce will set you back that much. The chicken mixture was generous in portion size, tasty and included pine nuts, shiitake mushrooms and bacon. Shanghai Kurobuta Pork Dumplings (6 pcs.) Sold as their house specialty, be careful when consuming them as they squirt out juice. It's best to pop the whole dumpling in your mouth. Inside is a small helping of pork mixture surrounded by its steamed juices which were light in flavor. Chicken Feet I got about four feet, chopped in halves and finished in a non-spicy chili oil sauce. Tender and tasty but I've had better at Legend Restaurant in Honolulu. Pork & Shrimp Siu Mye (4 pcs.) We couldn't detect the pork, but the shrimp was visible. Moist but bland. Pass the shoyu, please. Egg Custard Tart (4 pcs.) My favorite Chinese dessert! The crust was light, flaky and buttery. The custard was filling was very good. Orange Jello (4 pcs.) I have no idea how they make these, but orange-flavored Jello was cleverly molded onto actual orange skins. The Jello consistency was thicker and more gritty than traditional Jello. The flavor was refreshing, almost like actual orange juice. SERVICE: Everyone was so professional and patient, unlike your typical Chinese joints. No pushiness or short-talk, but very welcoming and friendly. OVERALL: Quality cuisine but very light on flavors. Severely overpriced. Great service.

To tell the truth, the food was on the average. I thought that it was a little too expensive for the quality. The store front was uncomfortable while we were waiting for a table. They need to clean up the area.

Was able to be seated for 4 people for lunch on a Tuesday without reservations but we were one of the last parties to be seated with minimal wait. Enjoyed all the dim sum options and was made with high quality ingredients and food came out pretty quick if you need a fast business lunch.
Victor W — Google review
Stating a journey with dim sum does not disappoint. The restaurant gave 80s/90s dining hall decor that enveloped me with a reassurance that the meal would have a fun time. I am unsure when peak hours, but I went after 1 pm and had less than a 10 minute wait. As soon as I sat at the table, one of the aunties rolled by with the cart in no time. The photos did not load in order.. but the first dishes I started with is the oboe with 3 bamboo steamers: shrimp dumpling, scallop nosy NYE and my favorite the chicken mushroom dumpling. On the table there is soy sauce, house made chilli oil and mustard sauce that you can mix on your plate. I needed a vegetable and I ordered the chilled snap peas which they topped with a light soy sauce or something similar. I ordered the crab claw from the hot cart and there is two per order. They are not easy to grab with chop sticks and come with their on sweet and sour slice and even though it’s a fried ball it is stuffed with crab and the surprise is the crab claw middle. I was full, but heard one of the servers mention that the last of the soup dumplings were coming out.. those are the Shanghai kurobuta pork dumplings and are their number one seller, that came with a vinegary sauce and I’m thinking thinly sliced radish. It was amazing, my biggest problem was I didn’t have a friend to share with so I could order order more. I would have like to try the crispy tofu or other items on the menu, but I enjoyed the cart options. What isn’t featured well so that they serve alcoholic drinks, but I ordered a hot jasmine tea.

China Live is a modern marketplace and culinary destination in San Francisco, which was named last year's Restaurant of the Year by Eater San Francisco. Led by renowned restaurateur George Chen, it offers multi-course Chinese fare, casual snacks, and artisan teas. The enormous 30,000 square foot space features three dining areas including the upscale Eight Tables by George Chen and the more casual Market Restaurant serving inventive Asian dishes.
Highly recommended by my Chinese co-workers, this restaurant is a hidden gem. To me, the experience felt like Chinese tapas — an impressive variety of small, authentic dishes that let you sample so many flavors. The trendy, vibrant atmosphere adds to the charm, making it a great spot for both casual meals and special nights out. There’s also a small shop inside where you can browse unique souvenirs — from specialty foods to beautifully crafted decorative pieces. And if you’re there for dinner, make sure to head upstairs to the bar — a stylish space with an excellent selection of whiskeys and other drinks. A great place to wrap up your evening.

Anyone who wants to have one of the best meals of all time must come to China Live! My foodie family does not usually prefer Asian cuisine, however we rank this meal in our top 3 favorites of our lifetime! Let me tell China Live does not skimp on portions or quality! The only other place you can find dumplings this good is in China itself! The pork belly appetizer was perfectly cooked + crispy leaving my stomach pinning for more. The Mongolian beef absolutely melted in our mouths. We also enjoyed firecracker chicken, their award winning thin noodles and fried rice, but if you order one thing you must order the black sesame ice cream with mango shave ice. You are going to have to take my word for it. It should be illegal to go to China Live without ordering this heavenly dessert. China Live does not miss on the aesthetic either. They kept it simple and modern with touches of Chinese culture and vibrant floral features! Not only did they have helpful and friendly servers, but they had fantastic service that came out quick, family style, and nicely portioned. Out of many experiences we’ve had at top tier restaurants, I can tell you that this one may be my favorites of all time. I’m sure Chinatown has many other fantastic restaurant options but I promise you they will not get any better than this! I can’t think of a single piece of criticism for this restaurant. If I could I would give it a 6/5 stars! Take my advice and go to China live, you will thank me for the rest of your life!

China Live is absolutely outstanding! The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared — even my toddler loved it. The drinks are exceptional and the service is friendly and professional. Everything feels high-quality yet welcoming. One of the best dining experiences in San Francisco. Highly recommend!

This place is a busy institution with a very interesting origin story.Good food and an expensive market right on the edge of chinatown. It's definitely geared to the western palette. Traditional offerings, that were well plated, but a touch off. All of it was good, but a bit bland. The space is massive and a visual feast. That said the acoustics in their main dining room are horrible for conversation. Don't come here to talk. Their duck was very well balanced and perfectly cooked.I would have liked to have had the skin a little crispier, but i'm not mad. Their water dumplings were noteworthy.I really enjoyed those, the carmelization on the bottom was just barely over the line, but i loved them. i'm pretty sure that's their most popular dish. Their soup dumplings were pretty, but the soup ratios were off almost nonexistent.I would have loved to have had chili crisp.Although I know that's not traditional they're dumpling wrappers were a little thin on the bottom, and thick on the top. Even if this dish wasn't relatively expensive, which it assuredly was the execution was a complete disappointment. Their tea selection is above average. their service was super kind, very attentive, but I didn't like being rushed out of there by the manager with five minutes notice due to their next table arriving (-1 star on service). Our server Michael was very attentive, but very busy. I am kind of torn on whether or not to return. The duck was very good, but everything else just kind of fell out of memory. And it was just so loud.I could barely hear myself think. My favorite part about it was definitely all the visual cues coming in. If you go make a reservation

TLDR: decent food but for the price, it feels a bit too expensive for what we got. The roast pork was my favorite part, having nice and crunchy skin without being too crispy. The pork wasn’t too fatty as well. The pecking duck was a miss for me, the thick breading overpowered the duck. The fried bao I wish there was more soup inside. The short rib was good though it was a bit too charred. All in all, most of the food was decent but with the price being higher than other spots, I expected more

Upscale Chinese with amazing Peking duck (I mean AMAZING) with special delicate sesame pockets. The crispy pork was insanely crispy without being too fatty. Seriously the best crispy pork we've ever had. We didn't love the automatic 20% service charge, but we understand. We did LOVE the super friendly and exceptional service. The chef even stopped by to check on us. We had such a great dining experience and will be back! Did I mention that the sesame mango shaved ice is a must?! It tasted as beautiful as it looked. Yum! Definitely worth making the reservation and spending a little more.

Came here for supper the other night . We always get the Peking duck , roast pork, and ginger onion crab. Food is always consistent and tasty. Lots of flavors going on . Service is always friendly and on point !

Everything is a give and take right? Great settings and service but Food is geared toward Westerner, hence expect 90% authenticity. For example, the Siu Yuk is crispy but not the authentic type of crispy that u expect. Flavor of the meat is well done though!

Mister Jiu's is a high-end Chinese restaurant with a California twist, situated in a beautifully restored historic venue. The menu features family-style dining, perfect for groups, and an elegant bar serving an array of enticing cocktails. Chef Brandon Jew's Cantonese cuisine is infused with occasional Sichuan specialties and locally sourced seasonal produce. Dishes include organic smoked tofu with cherry tomatoes and fried rice with summer squash and Petrale sole.
No exaggeration… best Peking Duck I’ve had in my life. We had the 6 course dinner that was a surprise with every dish. Innovative, complex and a delight to the senses. Not a mystery why they have earned a Michelin star. Service was impeccable and served with passion for the food. ALDA was incredible ! She was knowledgeable, worldly and her love for this establishment and its products showed through. We had to ask Ethan to come to the table so we could express our gratitude. Fantastic food, hospitality and artistry.

Last minute splurge, we booked the only appt, last one of the night. But luckily they notified us that an earlier spot opened up. The food took on an interesting take on Hong Kong cuisine. Our favorites were the choeng fun (with clam!), silken tofu (lots of tofu and made in-house tofu), and the chrysanthemum milk tea (lactose intolerant friendly).

Cool restaurant to visit while in Chinatown. We reserved 2-3 weeks in advance but saw some walk-ins later. You have to pay like $60 per person to confirm reservation if you go for the online option. We visited on a Friday night. We arrived 20 minutes early and told to wait in the bar area, which was another concept located in the second floor, very cool vibe and we had drinks: Limit of Heat and Summer Solstice. Both were excellent! We went down at the time of the reservation and still the table wasnt ready! Had to wait 15-20 minutes for the table, which for a Michelin star place is not the best. Despite that they gave us a nice table overlooking to the street which compensates the wait in a way. We had the summer banquet menu. Overall excellent food. We tried: Yusheng (Halibut), Eggplant, Cheong fun (Sea urchin), and Fried Rice as first and second courses. Everything was super great, favorite the Halibut and Sea Urchin. Then we had the Peking Duck, crispy, with a pluot sauce which was super good. The only thing we weren’t expecting were the portion sizes, everything was so big, after the first courses we were almost full. For desert we had Apricot Kernel Jello and Nian Gao. The latter was our favorite, very fresh, balanced. Definitely visit if looking for a deluxe experience in Chinatown.

Really disappointing experience at what’s supposed to be the only primarily Chinese Michelin-starred restaurant in the USA. Before we even got there, I called seven times and sent two emails trying to reschedule our reservation — crickets. No response, no callback, nothing. When we showed up, they didn’t even acknowledge that we’d been trying to reach them. I’ll give them credit for the ambience being pretty nice, and the portion sizes were actually bigger than I expected. But I couldn’t help noticing we were one of the very few (if not only) Chinese diners there, which felt a bit odd. The service was all over the place. Our waiter rarely checked in to see how things were, would rush over to clear plates while we were still eating, but then vanished whenever we actually needed something. We tried flagging them down multiple times just to order a drink. And here’s the kicker — they made it sound like an extra dessert was “on the house” for a birthday, then it showed up on the bill. The food was hit or miss. The snack course (shrimp chips, mala peanut, carrots with tofu sauce) was honestly amazing — creative use of traditional Chinese ingredients done right (8/10). The dessert trio with chrysanthemum ice milk, apricot kernel jello, and nian gao was also fantastic, just the right level of sweetness (9/10). The Peking duck was solid and tender, though nothing crazy (7/10). But then… the sea urchin dish was just meh and felt half-baked (4/10). The 36-month jinhua ham was straight up bad — tasted like frozen deli meat with random peach slices that made zero sense (1/10). And somehow they managed to over-salt basic fried rice?? (2.5/10). For a Michelin-starred restaurant — especially one representing Chinese cuisine at this level in the US — this was really disappointing. The lack of communication, spotty service, and inconsistent food quality just didn’t match the hype. A few dishes were great, but that’s not enough to make up for everything else.

The tea smoked duck is a stand out. Once you order, it takes an hour. They use Liberty Duck. Mister Jius perfected the method by making the exterior crispy and the inside still medium rare and moist. We ordered the daikon cake with olive tapenade which was so unique. I don't usually like olive but the olives on top of the daikon cake elevated the taste. Their chow fun with charsiu came out piping hot, the way it should be. I feel like they made the noodle from scratch too. Good amount of soy sauce and flavor. Can never go wrong with milk bread and homemade soft honey butter. Prices are a little higher than other Chinese restaurants but this is quality. Must try

We got a reservation through email with their host at 8pm. We showed up and were greeted by the hostess who said there was no reservation in their system. After we showed proof, she found the email and said she'd see what she could do. We walked around Chinatown for 30 minutes waiting for a text, now 30 minutes after our scheduled reservation. We went back to check in. She offered to seat us on the bar and begrudgingly offered to pay for our first round of drinks (making it seem like this was some grand gesture), we politely said we'd wait for a table. She said she might be able to seat us before 9, when they do their last seating and we agreed. At 9 sharp, an hour after our reservation, we were seated. The sommelier came over and put down three wine glasses down, we told her we wouldn't be drinking wine, but she told us it was a "gift," but didn't specify wether or not it was just a gift for the sake of being kind or a gift for us being seated an hour late. She uncorks the bottle and pours three comically small glasses for us (pictured below), but we assumed it was just to make sure we had enough to all have two glasses. She then puts the cork back in the bottle and took it back into the kitchen never to be seen again. The waitress then comes to let us know that they were out of the dish they are most known for, and the reason we came in the first place, the roast duck. Not only were we disappointed, but we were also keenly aware that we had to wait an hour after we were supposed to eat and can only imagine that it would have been available if we were seated at the appropriate time. We ordered the fried rice, green beans, wonton soup, chow fun, rolls, and the silken tofu. The rolls came out first along with the shrimp chips with smoked salmon dip. We didn't order that, but assumed it was a gift to make up for the mix up. It wasn't, but we'll get back to that. Both dishes were excellent and definitely the highlight of a night full of low lights. Next came the wonton "soup." I put quotations around soup because it was three dumplings on a plate with about an inch of broth that was room temperature (plate shown below). we were given traditional single serving soup bowls to pour the "soup" in, and the broth might have come an inch above the bottom of the bowls they brought. It was so late in the night, we didn't send it back, but it was the most average and unsatisfying "soup" I remember eating in some time. The pacing of this meal was also extremely odd. We got two dishes at a time, but there was no real rhyme or reason why things came out. The last thing to arrive was the chow fun with shaved horseradish over top, which had such an off-putting odor and we barely touched, because it was just not very good at all. We realized we never got our tofu, but since we were full, I told the waitress we didn’t need it and just wanted to be sure it wasn’t on the bill. We also mentioned we hadn’t ordered the shrimp chips. She checked and said they’d been brought to the wrong table—so not a gift. She was lovely, and it was an honest mistake, just one more in this comedy of errors. An aside, I witnessed one of the most awkward scenes I've ever seen in my life. The table next to us was celebrating a birthday and our server and the GM (I believe, he was kind of just walking around all night looking at all the tables and bringing out food some of the time) dropped off dessert with a candle. They started singing Happy Birthday and IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SONG HE LEAVES THE WAITRESS BY HERSELF TO SING TO A 6 TOP COMPLETELY BY HERSELF. The table wasn't singing either, so it was just her serenading by her lonesome. The bill came and it was correctly not including the shrimp chips we didn't order or the tofu, but not a single comped item for our trouble or an apology. The level of mediocrity we experienced in every aspect was shocking from a Michelin starred restaurant. Cold food, inappropriate serving receptacles, and a clown show at the front of house. Complacency is rich within the walls of Mister Jiu and we will not be back.

Great place, great atmosphere, service, drinks, expansive and expensive wine list. Essentially a price fix menu, choice of two 1st courses, then a well prepared Peking duck. Went with one other couple. One drink each. A bottle of wine, $140, about mid price on the list. An order of fried rice with the dinner. Ended up, at almost $500 per couple.

Wasn’t able to try the peking duck, but wow! Food here was amazing! The pickled sichuan fish soup was exceptional! So good and soothing, while a bit spicy! The other dishes were also very well made! You always need to have some authentic Chinese food once in a while. Super recommended!

It is very busy place, and we were lucky that we booked ahead. Food was not that tasty. We had cold chicken and the amount of bones was too much. Tofu was taking their time, we waited for a while, tofu was very good. We enjoyed it. Beef dumplings taste pretty much pork. Overall not bad experience.

Loved dining at this restaurant! The dan dan noodles were insanely good. We also ordered the crab (cooked in a spicy/chili sauce as opposed to the ginger scallion version), some pan-fried buns, mixed veggies, Chinese preserved meat + cauliflower, and beef and tripe in chili oil 夫妻肺片, as well as the Peking Duck which is served table side and comes with a soup made with the bones of the duck.

The place is famous for Peiking duck; have to pre order duck. I have been there with big groups or with a couple of friends, all good. If you don't eat spicy food you can order with less spicy or there are many none spicy options. Beside Peking duck, cumin beef is always good.

I really wanted to have a tasty authentic Beijing duck, especially after booking this restaurant well ahead as well as pre ordering the duck. Its a pity that they wont serve 1/2 a duck as some restaurants do. For 2 diners a full duck is a bit much. Ive got no real problem with that though. The duck itself was a let down. Dry on the inside and not crisp enough on the outside. The flavors was a bit flat, no woody aroma at all. The fried bones too, were low on flavour, but even seasoned. I consider myself quite a duck connoisseur having tried this dish in many parts of the world and in beijing itself multiple times, and I know that this should be a lot better than it is here. Price was slightly on the high side, but again no issue but as long as the duck was good and in this case it wasn’t.

Very good Chinese food. We usually come here as our favorite in the area. They have a specialty menu with items that are a bit more gourmet and of course more expensive. Otherwise the rest of the menu has typical dishes we are all accustomed to. One of their specialties is the Peking duck.

The Food During my friend's visit, he wanted to get some Peking Duck. So we discovered Chili House & Peking Duck seemed to be a good option. We ordered a few of their dishes to try - Chicken w/ Explosive Chili Pepper (飄香辣子雞) - Pork Roll with Chili Sauce - Frog Clay Pot - Peking Duck (北京烤鴨) We originally ordered three dishes, but my friend thought the chicken was bad and sour. The staff were nice enough to swap and recommend another dish, which was the Frog Clay Pot. The Pork Roll dish was a chilled dish, it was pretty good with the chili sauce. I quite enjoyed the new Frog Clay Pot dish. It came with lotus root and celery that goes well with the frog meat. The highlight of the show was the peking duck, which required reservation ahead of time. They had a chef carving out the duck in front of you. The remains of the duck we decided to make soup with it, which goes well with the duck. It was quite a bit of food for two people, but it was delicious. The Miscellaneous The restaurant is on one of the main streets, so prepare to look for street parking. They allow inside seating now, but they also have outdoor seating if you want. The inside is decent sized, with a good amount of seating for small and large parties, normal decors. We arrived a bit after lunch hour, so we didn't have to wait for seating. The service and staff were standard, seated us and took our order timely. We got most of our food not too long after ordering, but would have to say the duck took quite a bit. The restaurant has quite an extensive menu, with lots of variety. It can be overwhelming if you don't have an idea what you want. But if you have a big party, you can try quite a bit. The prices are slightly expensive compared to other similar restaurants. But they do have many selections and unique ones to suit people's taste. Probably come with friends to order different items to try.

House of Nanking is a popular Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, known for its long lines and cozy atmosphere. It is the sister property to Fang Restaurant, which offers a modern twist on traditional Chinese dishes created by celebrity chef Kathy Fang. The restaurant is famous for its Fried Pork Confit Eggrolls and other exceptional dishes like the Famous Nanking Sesame Chicken and Panfried Vegetarian Dumplings.
This place had the best Chinese food. I e ever had anywhere. I’m not sure what I had because the owner came to our table and said let me have the menu and trust me. Well that sounded good to me so I let him do his magic. It was a very cool experience and my wife and I met some cool people. We always enjoy these kinds of situations. I highly recommend trying this place you won’t be disappointed. The owner was very nice and was on point with the food.

One of the best meals we had in San Francisco! We went for an earlier dinner around 5:30 and did not have to wait for a table. The owner asked us if we were hungry and if we had any dietary restrictions, then brought out recommended plates for us. Everything was delicious and came very promptly. We were in and out quickly but expected this and still very much enjoyed the experience.

Very good American Chinese food. We waited about 20min for a table for 5 at 1pm on a Sunday. We had the sesame chicken, honey apple beef, and spicy pork belly, with a few bowls of white rice. All the dishes were well-made; definitely a level above most American Chinese food I've had. The dishes were flavourful, with a distinct sweetness that you find in this kind of food. I quite liked the honey apple beef as the beef was tender, apples were slightly crisp and soft, and the honey flavour complemented it well. Only complaints were the portion of meat was small and the service was a bit slow. Could be worth a try if you have time to wait

I have lived in San Francisco my whole life but never experienced House of Nanking! I was invited to dinner by two of my friends and it did not disappoint. A few things that surprised me— 1) lines forms pretty quick but there are plenty of seats indoors and out in a park-let. 2) The prices are an absolute steal especially with inflation so high! I was shocked. 3) The food is pretty damn good, and quite authentic. 4) The service is straight forward with the right balance of welcoming. We ordered the duck and roast pork baos which tasted so good. The Sizzling Rice soup had nice and tender pieces of chicken while feeling comforting in the cool evening San Francisco Autumn weather. The sesame noodles were ok in my opinion. The steak cubes with bok choy definitely stood out… flavorful and balanced with the veggies. The Sesame Chicken also stood out to me— 37 year tradition was one of my favorites! Crispy, sweet, with a touch of spice. I really enjoyed my experience at House of Nanking. As a life-long resident, I cannot believe it took me this long to discover it. Affordable and authentic— I definitely recommend it!

TLDR: 3 cubes a beef in an unrecognizable fusion dish with awful service with small bowl of rice for $30. I wouldn’t classify this as Chinese, nor Americanized Chinese. It was more like Chinese inspired fusion. I am shocked it has such high ratings. It was recommended to me and I had my concerns when arriving but decided to give it a try. The first waitress was nice but the old lady was awful. Within five minutes of getting the menu I was asked three times to order and despite multiple empty tables I felt rushed. I asked for recommendations and she was instant on Mogu Beef. What is Mogu beef? Still trying to figure out what Mogu sauce is, an overly sweet mustardy/mayo sauce. There were 3 cubes of beef, shiitake and cauliflower. This and a small bowl of rice for $30. It wasn’t the worst I have eaten in my life, the veggies and mushrooms were fresh. But this was a big miss.

We ate good at Nanking! We were seated immediately around noon on a Saturday which pleasantly surprised me. The inside is a bit crammed with boxes of beer everywhere and the chairs are uncomfortable. We would have preferred to sit outside but we were sort of rushed in. We ordered the sesame chicken, chicken fried rice, and chili oil wontons. Everything was delicious and came out within 15 minutes. Don’t expect super friendly personable interactions, but do expect good food. I’d come back!

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Chinatown, Great Eastern Restaurant is a must-visit for dim sum enthusiasts and seafood lovers alike. This unpretentious two-story eatery boasts an impressive selection of nearly 100 dim sum dishes, including fan favorites like shrimp dumplings and steamed fish balls with vegetables. The restaurant's lively atmosphere is enhanced by its efficient staff, who expertly serve up delightful bites such as sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves and spicy salt-baked octopus.
Food was out of this world honestly. We came in randomly on a Thursday after work looking to just get a beer. Decided to order some dimsum which was incredible it took us by surprise. And then we got a bit hungry so we ordered some Singaporean egg noodle stir fry and mayo shrimp that’s served with glazed honey. Omygod. Literal 10/10. The atmosphere could be better yes sure. But the food definitely was a total 10/10. Would recommend!!!

Not a great vibe but the service made up for it. Just had some quick dim sum with fried pork dumplings, hot dog rolls, and some soup dumplings. I would say that the dims sum was better than making at home but worse than some other spots I have had in the city. Having the good company of family made sense why people come here. 7.7/10 Fun fact: Obama has been here and they show a photo of him.

Good dim sum and service! Prices are reasonable. It was filled to capacity with diners waiting at the front lobby for an open tabke. The din sum dishes were of a good size and delicious. The noise is loud like a true dim sum restaurant. The wait staff provided good service. A good place for dim sum and tea.

We dined for brunch and had Dim sum. We ordered 6 items of which two were not available. The service was ok but the server was quiet and not very helpful, perhaps if could have been a language barrier. However, what we did order was delicious and fresh. The only thing we didn’t like was the state of the restrooms which were dirty and gave us a yuk feeling. A shame because the Resturant itself was fairly clean and tidy.

Beef Fried rice & pork fried rice weren’t that good as it looked. Spicy chicken curry was good. And they had too much salt on red chilly paste. Pecking Duck was good.

When we arrived in San Francisco, we stayed near Union Square, and Chinatowm was pretty close by. We couldn't pass up the opportunity to eat in the largest Chinatown in the United States, so we went with the recommendation provided to us....the Great Eastern Restaurant. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated downstairs, and this restaurant had a classic Cantonese setting with white table cloths and a vintage decor. We had Kong Pau Chicken, Sautéed Beef with string beans, and Fried Rice all served with Green Tea. The Kong Pau Chicken was sweet and spicy, the Sautéed Beef was tender, and the Fried Rice had a good balance of eggs and scallions. The prices were reasonable, the portions were generous, and the service was quick. This was actually my first time eating in a Chinese restaurant (as I would usually get take out), and the Great Eastern Restaurant left a great impression. If you are visiting San Francisco's Chinatown, this is a great place to stop for a hearty meal.

Dim sum restaurant

The Begoni Bistro is a modern and welcoming Chinese eatery in Chinatown, which features extensive dim sum menu. The restaurant is highly traditional in regards to its atmosphere, yet highly modern with regards to its extensive menu. The restaurant is clean and accept credit card, which makes it a great place to go with friends or family. The shrimp noodle roll is a recommended dish that comes with different green vegetables that sets it apart from most other places.
Incredible service! They were attentive to our every need and made sure we had everything. The food was awesome, especially the sizzling beef! I can’t recommend it enough. I also had the best sesame ball of my life here.

Hunted for a good spot in Chinatown and this was our pick. Relaxed atmosphere, clean, and good service. You get to check-out your order on a sheet which allows for clarity on you order. The pork BBQ steam buns are AMAZING worth a spot 100%. We also got the sesame lotus dumplings, spring rolls, and Mongolian beef (a touch spicy). All was yummy (not out of this world), portions were good, and it was great spot for dinner!

Came here on the second friday of the month - Chinatown night market. The market was way too crowded for us so we decided to find a place to dine. This was one close by that wasn't super busy at the time. We were seated quickly. The place is clean and a bit higher scale than typical dimsum restaurant, though their price is pretty reasonable. We loved the calamari, pork and shrimp siu mai, and the xiao long bao, we didn't love the other ones as much but they were still really good. Overall food was great, service was quick, we didn't feel any rush to finish our meal even when we came in just 50mins before closing time.

Highly recommend the house fried rice. I tried the dried scalloped one and it was nothing to write home about. Recently I got the sweet/sour chicken and it was overcooked, don’t come late night if you have a special request because you will be ignored by the manager, cooked properly, it’s good. The Chinese broccoli is a great value.Edit 6/30/25: DO NOT ORDER TAKEOUT. Do so at your own risk if you’re reading this. I ordered the same rice and it is disgusting, completely opposite from what I have gotten in the restaurant. For some reason they don’t understand what bean sprouts are, insane.

The food was incredible! It was almost the same as authentic Hong Kong dim sum! The waitress was very nice and could speak mandarin. The only thing that should be improved is the design and the cleanliness of the restaurant, I was spiderwebs on the ceiling, and the tables and chairs were not really in shape. We are with 4 and we spent 97 dollars total, excluded the tips.

A friend and I chose this place at random based on the variety of their menu. We ended up getting some dumpling, singapore noodles, mongolian beef, sake & hot n sour soup. They didn't come out in the order I would have thought, but the portions were more than enough to share and all tasted delicious!

First time eating here in Chinatown and it was a pleasant experience. I tried out the Wonton soup, Peking Duck and Steam Pork Buns and they were delicious. Servers were very pleasant and ambiance was comfortable and inviting.

Really loved the food! The sesame fireballs were such a nice surprise, and the garlic bok choy was delicious. Shrimp dumplings were a hit too. Would probably skip the Kung Pao next time, but seafood and dumplings are definitely worth it!

The restaurant serves delectable Cantonese-style dishes, including a renowned salt-and-pepper-crusted crab that is praised for its sweet and luscious flavor. With a large dining room accommodating over 200 guests, as well as a complete bar, patio, private dining area, and special event space, Harborview provides impeccable service in an elegant yet casual atmosphere.
Lovely day to sit outside on the balcony for a really nice meal. Food came quickly and was really good quality. No MSG in the food that we could detect which is a bonus. Great job girls and guys!

The restaurant is nestled at the bay with a good view if you sit outside at the terrace. The decor inside is exceptional along with pretty clean fish tanks. They offer a wide variety of dim sum and dishes and are pretty good. Our favorite is the roast pork belly (crispy skin and moist meat).

If you’re planning a group dinner or special event in SF, Harborview is the spot. Super spacious indoor and outdoor seating with an amazing view. Came here for an Autumn Moon Festival creator dinner and we had an amazing experience! The space is beautiful (perfect for content), the staff were super accommodating, and the food was so good! We ordered everything from Singapore-style Chili Crab and Salted Egg Yolk Crab, Peking Duck, baked black cod, and a huge variety of dim sum. Don’t skip the BBQ pork buns with the sugar crust, they’re a must! And we also ordered a couple deserts, salted egg yolk lava bun, egg tart, and the black sesame mochi in almond soup. Bonus: they’ve got lots of cocktail options which makes it perfect for a fun celebration or night out with friends.

Harborview Restaurant was an amazing experience for first time. The food was delicious everything we ordered was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The roast duck with buns, fried rice, and noodles were all so tasty. You can really tell they use fresh ingredients and put care into every dish. It was pretty crowded when we went, but the staff stayed friendly and patient the whole time. I had my 15 month-old baby with me, and he was very active and made a bit of a mess, but everyone was so kind and understanding. That really made the meal even better for us. Overall, I'm giving Harborview Restaurant 5 stars great food, great service and a very family friendly atmosphere!!
Sadie D — Google review
While the food was quite good, the terrible service completely ruined the experience. The staff was impatient, and we were met with stares for a simple request like asking for soy sauce. A restaurant's service should match the quality of its food, and this one fails completely in that regard. I wouldn’t recommend it.
Hanwen L — Google review
We had the crispy pork belly, stir fry beef, fried chicken and fried rice. We went around lunch time and were able to get a seat immediately. The service was pretty fast and the food was also great! I definitely recommend getting the fried rice. We werent in the mood for dimsum that day but it was the closest to us so we gave it a tey and we are pretty happy coming here! We will definitely order dimsum next time.

My husband and I went to Harborview restaurant on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. We were sat down right away however we had to flag the server down several times to place our order. I ordered a spicy chicken and it tasted horrible. The Peking duck was not bad. I had to ask three times to different servers for hot sauce. The service was really bad. Won’t return.

Restaurant
Chong Qing Xiao Mian is a popular Chinese eatery known for its spicy noodle dishes, originating from the Sichuan Province of China. The restaurant offers traditional noodle soups and spicy dishes made with a special peppercorn that creates a numbing sensation. Despite its small size, it's always bustling with customers eager to savor the distinct and tasty flavors of Sichuan cuisine.
Incredible noodle soup! Large portions. Usually there is no line, unless you go 8pm on a Friday Dan dan noodles - sesame based broth is amazing! Friend says it’s light and flavorful, 10/5 Pickled sichuan fish soup - delicious! I get it with rice on the side Hot and sour soup with pork intestine - acid balances out the fat nicely, intestines are fun to chew, clear noodles are delicious Pork belly over rice - classic comfort dish Cucumber salad - get this!! best I’ve had in SF 😌
L — Google review
Probably the most middling noodles I’ve ever had. Noodle soup didn’t have flavor, just tasted chili oil. The beef rib was good and the only redeeming factor. The chicken was all bones and no flavor. Usually the chicken is deboned as well. Service was ok. Overall, would not go again for this type of noodle.
Silas C — Google review
Average and not authentic at all. They even got the pork belly in preserved mustard green horribly wrong, which is striking for a Chinese restaurant. Also, ordered beef noodles and was unapologetically served pork ribs instead.
Amit C — Google review
It was very busy on weekend but worth waiting for. We ordered Chongqing spicy beef noodle, beef tendon, Sichuan pork belly. Everything was so good. Beef tendon was worth to try. The spicy noodle was so good, the spiciness was perfect for me. The Sichuan pork belly, you need to it with rice, it was quite salty to eat it alone. The reataurant was small with few tables, so be patient.
T-bone_Skv — Google review
As Chongqing noodle fan, I can say that this is not authentic. The Chongqing noodle was missing a numbing spice flavor that’s the soul of Chongqing noodle sauce. This is more personal preference - I prefer noodles that are softer so the fact that the noodle was not fully cooked and still hard when it’s served marks this even lower. Lamb skewer has too little meat on it, though the flavor was good. The cold dish: spicy tendon was ok! Service was good! There’s no wait on a weekday night. Overall, average.
Con — Google review
The noodle is great with a very big portion but not that spicy, the chicken seems like frozen one not like original flavor

Sichuan Home is a Chinese restaurant that specializes in serving spicy dishes from the Sichuan region. The dining room is clean and simple, with varnished wood panels, mirrors, and plexiglass-topped tables for easy chili oil clean-up. The menu features enticing photos of each item. Popular dishes include tender lamb chops with a cumin crust and Chef's special fish stew served table-side.
Stumbled upon an authentic Sichuan restaurant in San Francisco — the décor feels nostalgic yet clean and cozy. The moment the pot arrived, it filled the air with incredible aroma! I ordered their signature “Boiled Fish in Chili Broth” — perfectly spicy, fragrant, and flavorful. The heat was just right, and it truly warmed me up inside. The owner and staff were super friendly, giving me that comforting feeling of dining back home ❤️

This place was highly recommended by friends for authentic food. The vibe was so perfect for a cozy dinner at a local restaurant. We got the vegetarian Dan Dan, vegetarian Mapo tofu, veggie dumplings, and hot soy milk. The Dan Dan and soy milk were the best! The tofu was good- tasted standard. The dumplings were okay, we wished there was more flavor in the filling. Overall, would return!

We had visitors from Canada who loved Chinese food. We searched for a Chinese restaurant and we found Sichuan Home with good reviews, but the restaurant opens at 5pm. It was 3pm when we felt hungry for lunch. We searched more for a different Chinese restaurant. None of the others had good reviews or the type of Chinese we were looking for. So, we decided to do another activity and wait till 5pm to eat at this restaurant. We finally sat down inside. The menu had good selection. The menu also was neatly categorized with the type of dishes. We had 4 main dishes: Lamb, chicken in Sichuan pepper, spicy fish and herb spice , and a vegetarian option called Dry mushroom. The food came in less than 5 minutes 🤔. I honestly don’t know how they prepared it so fast. Those 4 dishes needed to cook. Most likely they were already cooked and ready to serve. My mushroom pieces were too big and leathery. When I asked for knife to cut to smaller pieces. They said the didn’t have a knife! They ended up bringing scissors😳. I didn’t like that, but I had to let her cut the big mushroom pieces so I can hold them with the chopsticks and put them in my mouth without having a full mouth or mushroom ends dangling from my mouth! The spicy breaded chicken was like orange chicken. We all agreed that the chicken needed salt. So we asked for salt. The waiter grabbed the dish from our table and brought it back very salty! It was not good before and not good after. The spicy fish, which came on a gas cooktop next to our table looked delicious, but the fish was possibly frozen fish. You would think that having fish at a restaurant next to the ocean would serve fresh fish from the sea, but that was not the case. Bottom line, the only fish that we all agreed was good, fresh, and tasty was the lamb. They also brought sweet rice pieces on the house. The service was very good. The waiter might also be the cook, but I’m not sure. We were the only customer then another couple came in and finished before us. Would I go back again? I don’t think this is the best Chinese restaurant in town. So I’ll try something else next time.

finally tried sichuan home for lunch after hearing the rave reviews and it lives up to its accolades. cozy and comforting environment with the kindest servers, sichuan home feels like an unassuming neighborhood restaurant with amazing food. the complimentary cabbage side dish and fruit dessert were a great touch. would come back! spicy fish & chinese herb spice: the perfect spice level and packed with the mala spice flavor. large portion. highly recommend. garlic eggplant: the perfect side dish leaning on the sweeter side to offset the rest of the sichuan spice. veggie chow mein: standard fare, you know what to expect. fried chicken: don’t remember the exact name but super crispy and perfectly cooked.
Andrea S — Google review
I love Sichuan home but they did poorly both times I’ve gotten takeout recently. Service: they are friendly but they consistently forgot about my take out order and always served many more people before giving me my food. I’m okay hanging out but the latest time I saw 4 tables that came after me get their food before I. I say call ahead and give them like 30-40 minutes, at least. Food: No problem, I don’t mind waiting if the food is good. However, I got the Dan Dan noodles and spicy wontons and these were the wateriest, most bland sichuan food I’ve ever eaten. They were swimming in the same broth with no spice or complexity which is not typical — there was no “Ma” or “La” in either. I could tell the chef just dumped the broth for both and sent it on their way. I usually give a place a few chances in case it was a fluke but im convinced it’s not for me. I’m sure other dishes (not during dinner rush) might be good, but do not get takeout from them. Portion size and value/cost are great.

Cantonese restaurant
Izakaya restaurant
Four Kings, known for its modern Chinese cuisine, has quickly become one of the most sought-after dining spots in town. The restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere with seasonal shochu cocktails and imported beers, accompanied by 90s Canto-Pop music. The interior is adorned with Cantonese film and music posters, creating a wooden oasis. While walk-ins are accepted, it's advisable to make reservations in advance due to the high demand.
We snagged a 10 pm res for 6 on a Monday — they had actually reached our to ask if we preferred to dine at 8 because of an opening, but we had a friend traveling back to SF and landing at 8, so we kept our late res. Calling out that they close their kitchen at 10:30, and they had sold out of a few dishes by then! Dining experience was incredible! Felt like I was in my grandma’s dining room but slightly more cleaned up and tuned to an Asian-American vibe. They have a fire Canto-pop playlist going, and service is super sweet. We got to try a huge range of dishes (and may have over-ordered), but the crowd favorites definitely included the escargot with milk bread, the eggplant, the scallop vermicelli. Honestly, you can’t go wrong — flavors are super nostalgic. I also loved my almond milk highball, reminded me of those almond puddings I grew up eating. Our total for 6 with tip included was $~340, definitely a little splurge but honestly such a special dining experience. We were also the last table in the restaurant and kept them over likely 😅 but I can’t wait to be back. Get the mango pudding dessert too!!
Tanya Y — Google review
They do accept walk ins but make a reservation. It’s busy and it’s not a big place. They make things fast so you aren’t sitting there for long. Service is very good, lots of staff. We had a party of 4 so we were able to try a lot of dishes. My favorites were the crab, Mongolian beef noodle, cauliflower, popcorn chicken and green beans. The fried milk bread under the crab was so tasty! We will be coming back!
Christina N — Google review
We made reservations for 10pm on Saturday (that was the only time available) so we attempted to walk in the night before around 6pm and they said it would be a 1.5 hour wait. So definitely make a reservation! We really enjoyed our dinner here. They start you with free peanuts and cucumbers which was a nice touch. We ordered the fragrant fish eggplant, lamb skewer, mapo spaghetti, deep fried squab, and escargot with milk bread. I would personally skip the lamb skewer and mapo spaghetti next time, they didn’t wow me. The rest of the food was absolutely delicious. The squab had super crispy skin and very tender meat. The escargot was in a delicious spicy garlicky oil which was perfect to soak in the milk bread. The eggplant was buttery and yummy. We ended our meal with the mango pudding which was served with a really nice guava sorbet. Overall we had a wonderful experience even though we were worried the place might be overhyped. I think it deserves the hype. The service was excellent also. Just be aware that the place is quite crammed and loud, but I do think that’s the HK vibe they’re going for. If they’re looking to improve anything, I’d recommend better ventilation in the kitchen so the smoke doesn’t travel to the dining area :)
Gladys S — Google review
Absolutely lives up to the hype! Four Kings has been on my bucket list for the longest time, so I was *so* excited to finally get to give it a try! My friends and I didn’t manage to snag a reservation, but if you line up ~20-30 min. before opening time you can usually get close to the front of the walk-in line. We got there around 5:40 PM and were the fourth party in line, so we got to be seated right when the restaurant opened (so much better than the notorious multi-hour waits you’ll get if you hop in line later). Once you get inside, you’re greeted by a beautiful space and super friendly, attentive staff. They were on top of it — refilling waters often and checking in at just the right frequency to make sure we had everything we needed but didn’t feel overwhelmed. They also offered great advice for navigating dietary restrictions (I’m pescatarian and allergic to peanuts) and recommendations of must-try items. Their chili oil does, unfortunately, have peanuts in it, but they did a great job of ensuring everything had a good amount of flavor and spice even without it. The meal started with their free bites, which include roasted peanuts (which we skipped) and smashed cucumbers. The cucumbers were wonderfully crunchy and refreshing, with a great amount of spice and acidity — all around a great start. Next came our salted egg taro puffs, which comprised of a deep fried ball of taro filled with a melty salted egg yolk custard. It was absolutely delicious — I loved the salted egg flavor, and the creamy custard went wonderfully with the taro and crispy outer fried shell. After that was the scallop vermicelli, which was tasty and beautifully presented, but shockingly small. It was $16 for a single scallop and a few bites of vermicelli — granted, a delicious scallop and couple of bites of noodles — so perhaps not the best value for money. I think it was intended to be more appetizer-esque, but that wasn’t clear from the “seafood” menu header (vs. “small bites “ or “grilled / fried”). For our main dishes, we tried the fish fragrant eggplant, corn cheese hot link fried rice (hot links on the side), and whole fried sole. The eggplant was absolutely outstanding — I’m generally obsessed with a good stir-fried Chinese eggplant, but this was a *really* good Chinese eggplant. It was super flavorful and tender, and absolutely lived up to the “fragrant” part of its name. I think I would’ve appreciated if it came with rice — it’s a bit too salty on its own — but, thankfully, our fried rice came out about 10 minutes later and fulfilled that craving! The fried rice was amazing; the grains were just the right level of dry and crispy, and the pops of sweetness from the roasted corn helped to balance out the savoriness. I typically don’t *love* fried rice but was really impressed by this one. The sole was one of their special menu items, but I highly recommend — it was super flaky and perfectly fried, with a lovely crispy outer shell contrasting against the soft, tender fish. It was topped with a lovely and fragrant sauce, as well as a few pieces of pickled mustard. To round out the meal, we shared their pluot hot silken tofu, which was probably my favorite dessert so far in SF. The tofu was hot, creamy, and comforting. I loved the stewed pluots on top, which gave the tofu a great mix of acidity and sweetness. The overall dessert wasn’t all that sweet, so it was perfect for me. It was clearly also super popular — our server came by a little early to ask whether we wanted dessert since there were only three of the tofus left and she wanted to make sure we got one if we wanted one. All around a *great* experience and I can’t wait to come back!

Extremely busy. We got very lucky to walk up with an immediately available table. Biggest snails ever. Everything was delicious! We had jellyfish salad, chili crisp pig head, escargots and clay pot rice (which i unfortunately forgot to photograph because we tucked right in).

Was lucky enough to snag a last minute reservation through OpenTable - you have to make the reservation within seconds of it being released. Ordered salt and pepper shrimp, scallion chicken, lamb skewer, squab, clay pot rice, and mapo spaghetti. The squab was sooo good - similar to a roasted duck, the skin was so crispy and juicy and the meat was tender. I only wish it came with more pieces and meat. I also loved the skewer, the spices were very fragrant. The mapo spaghetti tasted exactly as you’d imagine but did not work as well as I thought it would, I think the noodles may have been a bit undercooked. The rest of the dishes were all good but not mindblowing, I’m not sure they’re worth the high price tag. Definitely worth a try but probably isn’t somewhere I would frequent.

Food was amazing, we got the lamb skewers, beef chow fun, olive green beans, corn cheese fried rice and the mango pudding. The lamb was delicious, perfectly seasoned and tender, the green beans were amazing cooked perfectly still had a little crunch and flavor was phenomenal and the I don’t even have the words to describe the pudding it was just overall great food. Our waitress was also very friendly and attentive and we were seated almost immediately. 10/10

Waited forever to finally get a reservation, and honestly… big letdown. We ordered the Singapore crab, scallop vermicelli, pig head, claypot rice, and two desserts. The scallop vermicelli was great, the crab was fine, but everything else was way below average. The desserts were the worst part, one bite and we were done. Service was unusually bad too. Definitely won’t be back. With how hard it is to get a reservation, I expected so much more. Still not sure what the hype is about.

Boulevard is a renowned restaurant located in the Embarcadero area of San Francisco, offering refined American cuisine with a French influence and a focus on local California produce. The restaurant, established in 1993, is housed in the historic 1889 Audiffred Building and features an elegant belle epoque interior designed by prominent architects. Guests can enjoy bay views while savoring the sophisticated menu, which includes three-course set options as well as à la carte selections at the bar area.
A San Francisco stalwart that I feel like I’ve been to a couple times before, but this seems to be the first time I’m reviewing. It’s what you would expect from a great restaurant, great food and lovely ambience. All the plates were interesting and inventive without being small and pretentious. Great service with that old school feel of being your neighborhood local. Would recommend for any local or visitor of the City.

Consistently excellent restaurant with phenomenal service and outstanding food quality. Their fixed-price menu offers great variety - we enjoyed perfectly prepared Lobster Bisque, Sea Scallops, Berkshire Pork Chops, and Pearl Hen Saltimbocca. All dishes were beautifully presented with generous portions. Desserts (Pistachio Crumble Cake and Strawberries & Brown Sugar Arlette) were exceptional. Cocktails were expertly crafted. Professional service throughout. Only minor disappointment: the sourdough with Duck Liver Mousse was too soft and lacked expected crispiness. Perfect for special occasions, date nights, or celebrations. Highly recommend!

Beautiful ambiance. Fantastic food and presentation. Hands down the best pork chop I have ever had. I usually go for a nice ribeye or porterhouse at high end steakhouse like Peter Lugars, etc and prefer steak over pork but I am so glad I tried the pork chop! Outstanding! In fact everything was outstanding. Worthy of a michellin star. (Which they had years ago apparently but not anymore for some reason I cant fathom. Won't be disappointed. Will definitely be back on my next trip to SF!

I chose this restaurant for my birthday. Because of the nice pictured review and recommended by the city's old timers. But my experience was not as expected. Not sure if it us the timing last seating 8pm or because we do not order the Prix-fixe menu but our experience on the food were kind of disappointing After I smell the fishy halibut delivered to the next table while we are ordering, but both of us prefer white meat after a long week, I had a bad feeling. We chose only for the main course and I was right but I am glad our halibut isn't as fishy. Nice presentation and taste. I left the dry chicken bottom part on the plate. Since I heard about the "michelin standard" the restaurant has become. When I could not agree on sharing dessert the waitress also did not even took initiative with a small cake and candle like the usual classic restaurants like Sam at FiDi does (will post this later) But it was overall a nice and professional service, the manager with a card welcome and a great atmosphere as pictured, told on website and what I heard about. We supposed to get the Chef seating for a la carte but our seating has a comfy space by the entrance so it was a nice evening.

Enter back in time with elegance starting at the revolving door. Immediate seating at counter or bar, entitles you to a la carte menu. Inner dining room is ONLY PRE FIXE @ $125/ea. We did a la carte totalling $166* Halibut: tender 8oz with French flare. Sea Bass: 6oz melting in your mouth with almond wonder sauce. Appetizer: two lightly battered scallops. Dim sum restaurant
Cantonese restaurant
Chinese restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled at the eastern edge of Chinatown, City View Restaurant offers a delightful escape for dim sum enthusiasts. This vibrant eatery serves up an array of delectable dumplings, pork buns, and other Chinese small plates in a charming white-tablecloth setting. While many flock to Yank Sing for their pushcart dim sum fix, City View stands out with its equally scrumptious offerings at more wallet-friendly prices and shorter wait times.
After walking around Chinatown, around 11:30 we stopped in for some authentic dim sum which was delicious. Inside the place was very tranquil and relaxing. Even when it started getting busier for lunch it was still not noisy. Service was great and attentive but not interfering. Efficiently bringing our various dim sum dishes and refilling our water. They had a printout of the dishes ordered at the end of the table and would check off when it was placed on the table. We chose 2 orders of Shrimp Dumplings, 2 of Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, 1 of Pork Siu Mai, 2 of Green Onion Pancake, 1 of Pork Potstickers, 1 of Veg Egg Rolls, 1 Black Bran Spareribs, 1 Sesame Ball with Red Bean Paste and 2 Hot Teas. Each order usually consisted of 3-4 items per basket. The dumplings, pork buns, pot stickers and siu mai were tender and tasty! The onion pancakes and egg rolls were very crispy and delicious! We nicely finished it off with a Sesame Ball with Red Bean Paste. They were nicely sweet and reminded me when I used to go to Chinatown for dim sum with my family back home. Great food, service and atmosphere! Worth a visit!

I thought the food was pretty good for the most part but a little pricey for dim sum. My favorite thing though was the garlic green beans, omg so addictive and perfectly crisp and flavorful. The scallop shumai and stuffed eggplant and tofu were very good. Taro puffs were just ok imo. Restaurant was clean and the service was great.

Great food! We were in San Francisco for less than a day and this was our only main meal. What a great choice! Delicious dim sum, the chicken wings were fantastic too. Would definitely recommend.

City View is a clean and inviting spot in the heart of Chinatown with a lovely interior that feels calm and welcoming. The staff are friendly and the service is impressively fast, which makes for a smooth and enjoyable dining experience. The standout dish for me was the stuffed eggplant and tofu is cooked in an absolutely delicious sauce that’s easily one of the best I’ve ever had. Rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The beef rice noodle roll was average in comparison, but still a decent bite. They also serve complimentary tea, which is thoughtfully brewed and hits the spot it is warm, fragrant, and well-balanced. Another highlight was the Shanghai Siu Lung Bao. Each dumpling comes in a tiny foil tray, and when you bite into it, the soup bursts in your mouth. Incredibly flavorful and top-notch quality, definitely 5 stars for that alone. Prices are reasonable, and it’s a great place to sit back, chat with friends, and enjoy a variety of small bites. Highly recommended if you’re exploring Chinatown!

This restaurant was amazing!!! Delicious authentic Chinese cuisine!!! Their assortment of dim sum was soooo good! The roasted duck was the juiciest perfect duck I have eaten in my life! I know it seems exaggerated but, its the truth! The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. I met a lady who might have been the manager name Lily and she was the sweetest and friendly lady. I definitely recommend this dimsum spot and I promise you will not regret it!!! 😊

From now on, I’m gonna call it’s my favorite dim sum spot in San Francisco Bay Area. The food quality is good and they really cook it well (compared to some dimsum spots where just try to take the food out of freezer and warm it up (not even steam)). The atmosphere is also good and the service is good as well. I’d highly recommend people come and try their dimsum and it’s definitely worth the trip!
Yu-Cheng D — Google review
Great food!!! Everything we ordered was so good and fresh, especially the rice roll. A bit overpriced for my Chinatown dim sum but for sit down meal, it think it was understandable. Food came so fast too. Also, a great city view :P

Great spot in San Francisco's Chinatown, tucked away in a side street. The dim sum were delicious, some of the best I've had. The duck pancakes were also great. The rice paper rolls were incredible. Service was fast and friendly, the price was decent too. Can't wait to come back.

New American restaurant
Bar
Restaurant
Spruce is a sophisticated dining spot located in Presidio Heights, San Francisco. The restaurant offers seasonal, contemporary American cuisine and handcrafted cocktails in an elegant setting with dark wood furnishings and cathedral-style ceilings. It has gained recognition for its exceptional farm-to-table food and an extensive wine selection of over 2,500 labels, earning it the Wine Spectator's Grand Award in 2018.
What a special restaurant. This establishment is beautiful while not being too stuffy, the salad I had today was out of this world, and the service at the bar was fantastic. I see why Spruce is considered one of the best restaurants to dine at in San Francisco. I'd highly recommend this place!

Had a fantastic four course meal here for my husband’s birthday. Fancy with white table cloths, delicious wine, and a pre-set menu and price ($125 pp). They brought out a beautiful birthday dish. We had a great service, and the truffle pasta was a highlight.
Julia E — Google review
Great service and vibe. However, food is not impressive, at least for the three-course dinner that two of us tried. The appetizers had some salty or fruity flavors, but not something that made us feel excited. Main entrees we chose were dry-aged duck and grilled cod - I can taste the flavor of the meat for both, rather than much interesting flavor from the seasonings. In other words, I won't remember them after the dish. Desserts (both the plum dish and the strawberry sorbet) were too sweet and the fruits were treated with syrups rather than fresh ones. My favorite one is actually the complimentary ice cream sandwich for our anniversary. Another thing to note - complimentary bread only comes with one piece per person. I was not hungry before coming to the dinner so was not counting on the dinner to feed me full. Yet, the amount of food would definitely not satisfy a normal dinner for most people. Among all the pre-fixe meals we had before at non-Michelin and Michelin-star restaurants, this never happened, so I think I should warn people of this. Given the price ($125 per person, with additional $10+ CA employee benefit fees, additional tax and fees) of over $160 per person, i think the restaurant should really improve the food quality and portion.
Yirui Z — Google review
The service was phenomenal, but our entrees were quite frankly inedible. I really wish I had said something, but we were celebrating a birthday, so I didn’t want to tarnish the evening. The attached photo was of my entree, it’s poached salmon. There was absolutely no seasoning, my friends and I were fighting over the salt that came with the table butter. Our bill was over $900 for four people. I really wish we had a better experience considering how much we were looking forward to this meal and how much we had spent.
Rhiannon B — Google review
Came to Spruce and really enjoyed the food. The fancy corn velouté soup was so tasty and comforting. The homemade pasta was packed with truffle flavor, definitely a highlight. Only downside for me was the jasmine tea. It was super strong and left me feeling a bit jittery afterwards. Overall though, great food, nice vibe, and worth checking out if you’re in the area!
Ms. L — Google review
The staff are always the cornerstone of any notable restaurant experience, and Spruce’s team genuinely delivered. Our server, Michael, was so kind, and his attentiveness really made our night. Every dish was beautifully and creatively presented, but our favorites were the Yukon potatoes and the Wagyu New York Strip. As someone with celiac disease, I felt incredibly well cared for. The staff was knowledgeable, which helped with restaurant anxiety regarding gluten. Really thoughtful modifications were made to ensure our meals were both entirely gluten-free, which did not compromise the flavor! That especially can be hard to find in a restaurant. :) Really really enjoyed once again, could not recommend more. Concerning the first picture, I did dim the light a bit! It’s not that dark in person, but it is a dimmer & more intimate setting.
Anjali — Google review
Very nice restaurant with top class service and elegant atmosphere. The food was the best part: everything was perfectly cooked and presented . Would love to come back and have the black truffle pasta again! The giant cookie was also delicious 🤤

Service was great and the food was good, although nothing to write home about. However, their wine selection is impressive and they offer a good variety.

Cantonese restaurant
Far East Cafe is a well-known establishment in Chinatown, offering a mix of Cantonese and Sichuan dishes. The restaurant has been around since 1920 and is popular for its fresh seafood and generous portions. It's conveniently located near the entrance to Chinatown, making it easily accessible for visitors. The interior boasts old-school Oriental decor with high ceilings and stunning chandeliers, creating an authentic atmosphere. Guests have praised the hospitality of the staff, noting their welcoming nature.
The details and atmosphere are stunning. From century old chandeliers and murals to crown molding and vibrant colors, this restaurant will have you immersed in culture. We stopped in for drinks. The host was so knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant and kept us informed and entertained.

I had family in town and they wanted to visit Chinatown and have lunch. So we came to this place and decided to try it out. Service was great, food was OK, what was a disappointment was the bill because they added the tip for 4 people. But it's ok because i would have left more than what was on the bill.

I highly recommend this restaurant! My friend and I had a wonderful dining experience there. The ambiance is rich with history, featuring charming, unique decorations that add to its character. Our waiter was incredibly attentive and courteous, enhancing our visit. The food was not only delicious but also fresh. We ended up ordering a bit too much, but the leftovers we took home were just as tasty the next day! It’s definitely a place I look forward to revisiting.

The restaurant is large. The interior is outdated, not very clean. The service is attentive and friendly. The order was brought quickly. No napkins on the tables. The dishes are delicious. We ordered sweet pork, Mongolian beef, spicy shrimp, eggplant. I would recommend visiting, but keep in mind that the price is above average.

Very mixed feelings about this place. We came here quite late mid week and were begrudgingly shown to a table by the male host. The waitress who took our drinks order was quite short & blunt, as was the man that took our food order (which we had a considerable wait for). I do wonder if this is a language barrier but it wasn’t warm/friendly or welcoming in the slightest. As we were eating late we shared a fried rice and a sweet & sour chicken. The food was delicious! Huge portion sizes and really reasonably priced too (especially for San Francisco). The restaurant had a sort of weird vibe, hard to explain and they had 2 large, very sad looking fish tanks at the end by the kitchen. I wish I’d taken a photo but they really didn’t look clean. This put us off ordering any seafood, especially since the sign outside advertises this place as a seafood restaurant. I don’t think we’d return here to eat inside, however a takeaway meal would definitely be considered!

Ordered one of the family meals and it was amazing. My kids ate everything and loved it. Our meal came with: soup, ribs, fried prawns, kung pao chicken, beef and vegetables, honey walnut prawns, and fried rice with prawns. We had leftovers but those didn’t last long. Probably the best Chinese food I have ever eaten.
Kevin B — Google review
The food here is excellent. I originally thought that the dish "Foo Kin Fried Rice" was a joke played on foreigners, but what I got was incredibly delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and even recommended a bakery and Dim Sum place for takeout. If you're lucky, you MIGHT be able to get one of the booths/cubicles for enjoying your meal here, but don't count on it.

Used to go here on vacations as a kid, this has always been the best Chinese restaurant in the United States in my opinion. I remember visiting and we were always taken care of by a guy we called “Jack”. Best place to bring kids and enjoy extremely good food. Absolutely family memories.

Bund Shanghai Restaurant offers a simple setting where diners can enjoy traditional Shanghai cuisine, including dim sum and other unique options. The dishes at Bund Shanghai are inspired by the city's common preparation styles, featuring mellow aromas and slight sweetness. Classic Shanghai dishes like xiao long bao, braised pork belly, and wheat gluten stir-fried with luffa showcase the techniques and flavors of the region.
Really authentic Shanghai flavor with affordable price. We ordered the fried horsehair crab with topokki and it is the best I ever had in the US. Highly recommend!!

Bund Shanghai offers a lively taste of Shanghai right in the heart of San Francisco's Chinatown. Be prepared for a classic Chinese restaurant atmosphere – think lots of chatter, happy families, and a constant flow of people. If you happen to be visiting during a Chinatown night market event, expect a wait – this place gets popular! Contrary to the belief that people have regarding service at a Chinese restaurant, we had a pleasant experience. Our server was attentive and friendly. The service was fast despite how busy the restaurant was. Speaking of the menu, be aware that Shanghainese cuisine tends to run a bit sweeter than Cantonese food. This was true for most of our dishes: Xiao Long Bao: These delicate soup dumplings were a highlight. The broth was flavorful, and the pork was juicy, but the dough/wrapper was thick. Spicy Wontons: These weren't spicy at all, but they did pack a little kick. The pork filling was well-seasoned. Fried Small Yellow Fish in Rice Wine Sauce: This dish was a fun, crispy adventure. The tiny fish were cooked whole and had a slightly sweet glaze. It is a good choice for those who enjoy a bit of a fishy flavor. Yang Zhou Fried Rice: This classic dish was surprisingly good and not as oily as we were expecting. It was a good portion size to share between 3 of us. Lion's Head Pork Meatball in Soy Sauce: This hefty dish was a bit on the sweet side, but the pork meatball itself was melt-in-your-mouth tender and light. Hot and sour soup: The soup was sweet and not what we were expecting. It was okay overall.

The place makes me feel like I’m back home in Shanghai and maybe better 🥹 As someone who used to live near Guyi Garden in Shanghai, I can say the soup dumplings are exactly how I like them. The dough isn’t too skin or too soft and has a delightful little chewiness. The pork and crab filling is tender, juicy, and not greasy. There can be a bit more crab yolk but i didn’t expect much across the ocean. I adore the small yellow fish in rice wine sauce. It has become a rare find even in Shanghai comparing with the more common smoked fish. The balance of rice wine and sweet flavor is just right. Pea shoots are perfectly cooked. Pork belly with tofu skin knots tastes good too. Not too salty. Love the atmosphere. So glad to hear Shanghainese!! The aunties are very friendly and welcoming. The food isn’t cheap but it definitely worth it. Hope I have time to visit again for other dishes I crave before leaving for England…

Very very good Shanghai restaurant. Very authentic. I am from China and have been to a lot of restaurant over years, and I definitely recommend this one if you wanna try some authentic Shanghai food!! It is not heavy flavored but definitely amazing! Also the people who served us were very nice and definitely alike people in China. I mean seriously. Very clean environment and just really nice.

Incredibly delicious and authentic Shanghainese food at great prices! (I’m Chinese and I’m a massive foodie, so I know when I’ve found a great Chinese eatery.) We tried all the Shanghainese classics and they were very well done. We also met the owners and they were so friendly and humble. Don’t miss this if you’re in SF! 美味、正宗、地道。价格实惠。上海人做的上海菜。必试!
Gordon Y — Google review
For my money, the most authentic “home-style”Shanghai cuisine I’ve had in the states besides my family’s cooking :) Some items here, I just haven’t seen at other restaurants which specialize in this region’s food. We got the Shanghai stir fry rice cake, shao mai (Shanghai xiu mai, different from the usual Canto dim sum), and one from the special regional menu, egg dumplings in soup. The first two were excellent, and the third was good and earns points for personal nostalgia. There are other hard-to-find items which I’d like to try another time, maybe with parents!
Jason S — Google review
Excellent service and food. This place lived up to exactly what I was hoping for in China Town. Great flavors and good prices. Hot and sour soup, soup dumplings, pot stickers, General Tso's chicken and Mongolian Beef. All excellent!
Ron T — Google review
Crispy fish is a nostalgic dish for me so when I entered Chinatown, my mission was to find authentic Chinese cuisine that included pine nut croaker. Bund Shanghai is so authentic with a wide variety of traditional menu items. The pine nut croaker nailed the flavors I was longing for. Along with that, we had the Xiao Long Bao which came so hot and steamy, with the perfect dipping pairing. We did enjoy it with extra chili paste. You have to try the braised pork belly with tofu skin knots. Such a tasty and fun play with flavors and textures. Plenty of sauce as well. We also had the Zha Jiang noodles which I enjoyed but prefer it to be spicier. I have to commend the customer service, our waitress was so welcoming and playful, making us feel like we were having a home cooked meal by our auntie. She was so sweet and made our dinner experience one to remember. Can’t wait to come back soon!

San Tung is a popular Chinese restaurant located in the Inner Sunset neighborhood of San Francisco. It is renowned for its delicious dry fried chicken wings, which have gained a cult following and are a must-try for visitors. The no-frills setting adds to the authentic dining experience. In addition to the famous chicken wings, San Tung offers a variety of traditional Chinese dishes such as Vegetarian Egg Rolls, Sizzling Rice Soup, Black Bean Sauce Noodles, and more.
We came here on a weekend afternoon. The line was super long and we waited about an hour before getting in. The servers were very nice and fast. We had to sit on a big table with someone else, but that wasn’t an issue. They were able to recognize the dishes even though we sat together. The interior looks like a typical old Chinese restaurant, but you can tell that it was cleaned and taken care of. The food was served very fast and fresh. It’s crispy and just seasoned correctly and authentic. The price is so cheap considering the inflation. It’s popular for a reason. We ended up taking out a lot because we ordered too much. The portion was so big.
Hilda L — Google review
I visited San Tung on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30 PM, and the place was packed. We had to wait about 45 minutes for a table. The atmosphere inside was lively and a bit loud, but judging by the crowd both waiting outside and dining in, it's clear the food is well-loved. We ordered the original dry fried chicken wings, which were delicious. They were perfectly crispy with a sweet and spicy flavor. I noticed that when you take them to go and reheat them, the spice comes through even more. We also tried the dry black bean sauce noodles, and they really stood out. The flavor was bold and intense in the best way, and the dish was loaded with seafood like shrimp, calamari, and scallops. I really liked it. Overall, it was a great experience and definitely worth the wait.
Anirud P — Google review
My group arrived there around 5pm and it was packed. However, the wait wasn’t too bad and we ended up waiting about 15 minutes. Service was fast and efficient. There was a total of 3 people including myself in the group and we ordered the string beans, Mongolian beef, black bean noodles, and chicken wings. My boyfriend was going to order more, but the server stopped him to say that the items we ordered was enough! Thankfully, we listened to him and stopped ordering because we had leftovers after! Food came out quickly. This spot is a must try!!! The chicken wings had a perfect texture; crispy and airy on the outside, and warm and soft on the inside. The sauce on those wings are chef’s kiss! The black bean noodles had a bit of beef, shrimp, and squid in it. The string beans and Mongolian beef were also very tasty. I will definitely be coming back for more!
Amy — Google review
We got takeout to eat outside in the nice weather right before they ended their lunch shift. The wings are as good as everyone says they are. Crispy and flavorful sauce. The black bean noodles are packed with seafood and meat. The hot and sour soup is perfectly balanced and peppery with lots of high quality ingredients. Overall very impressed with their execution of chinese American classics, the flavors are top notch.
Amanda B — Google review
Best chicken wings in town! Super recommend their string beans and sour soup as well. They get busy, don't take reservations and wait times can be pretty long. Best time to check it out is weekday lunch time. Usually no wait. Even with the wait, highly recommend them. Although they have improved a lot in the past few years, just don't expect much in terms of service. Flag a server when they are passing by and make your request.
Wolf F — Google review
Once you get seated the service is pretty fast. It carries the usual Chinese food with some Korean flavors. Good sized servings.
Sherry A — Google review
Yummmm.....mee. The chicken was everything that is raved about. It was sticky, sweet, and Spicey. It was on every table in the restaurant. My favorite dish was, however, the eggplant with a tasty sauce. We got there fairly early at 4:30 on a Monday. By the time we left there was a line.
Gena S — Google review
Delicious food. Had some really cool Korean-Chinese and northern Chinese dishes that aren't the easiest to find in the Bay Area. Really saucy noodle dishes with a delectable mix of flavors that weren't too bold, but still very fulfilling. Went on a Sunday afternoon around 4-5 PM. Very busy. Service was mediocre and it seemed like they were tryna rush us, but I guess it makes sense given they had a massive wait as usual.

Sam Wo Restaurant is a legendary Chinese eatery that has been serving casual eats since 1907. Although it's not at the original location, the new spot still offers the quintessential Sam Wo's experience: quick, cheap but satisfying Chinese food. This bustling gem in Chinatown exudes a charming "hole-in-the-wall" vibe and serves up an array of authentic Chinese delights.
This is my second time at Sam Wo when visiting San Fran and omg I just had maybe my favorite Chinese dish ever. Bella was our sever and she was very accommodating to work to get us this delicious no longer on the menu item I had seen in other reviews. The pork noodle roll was delicious I think they have some of the best Chinese mustard ever but be sure to ask for Ping and see if you can get this Beef fried rice with soft scrambled egg on top, and make sure you sprinkle a little bit of the Chinese pepper sauce!

Went there yesterday for their last day 🥲 I will miss the vibe forever. Their bbq port noodle roll were so good that I had to order 1 more for take out. The duck fried rice was plain and little duck in it… House chow fun was okay 👍🏻 They were busy but the server was attentive. They worked like a family. It is a place full of history records and I hope there is a way we can preserve the history down. It is a bittersweet farewell to chef Ho and I wish him all the best for his retirement!

Sam Wo has been a cherished San Francisco institution for a century, and its legacy as a go-to spot for comforting Chinese cuisine will be deeply missed when it closes its doors in late January 2025. The food here is consistently good, with standout dishes like the chow mein and chow fun. Both are packed with flavor and served in generous portions that make them perfect for sharing—or enjoying all to yourself. The flavors are well-balanced, and the dishes have that classic, nostalgic taste that reminds you why this place has endured for so long. That said, don’t come expecting lightning-fast service. The pace here is relaxed, giving you time to soak in the ambiance of a restaurant steeped in history. As Sam Wo approaches its bittersweet farewell, it’s worth a visit to savor its comforting dishes and pay tribute to 100 years of culinary tradition in San Francisco.

Very happy they’re *back*! Changes in price, portion are understandable—even appreciated for Sam Wo’s evolution and long term prospect, but changes in taste is what disappointed me. Really hoping it’s temporary while the new team ramps up—will try again in a couple of months and update review. For example, duck dry mixed noodle should be in a bowl with an appropriate ratio of lettuce, duck fat, duck meat, sweet soy, and noodles used should be slightly less thick.
Eddie C — Google review
Welcome back to a legend! So happy we haven’t seen the last of Sam Wo. Of course the bbq pork rice rolls are still soft, handmade and as good as ever. Hope we see it around for another century.
Jordan C — Google review
Honestly the worst bbq pork (char siu) noodle soup I've ever had. Pork was too lean to be real char siu and very dry which is why they cut it into shreds otherwise barely edible. I also think since it was so dry, it's older food that wasn't sold. There wasn't even an ornamental green leafy vegetable on top. Only scallions. Definitely not authentic Cantonese food. Plus tabletops were so sticky the menus stuck to them.

A first time visit with four friends. I had the Beef Chow Fun dish. Very delicious and a nice size portion. We had an issue with food delivery timing and missing a drink and food order even after a several reminders. It was a busy night and servers were busy cleaning tables and seating and servering other guests. Even though busy the staff was friendly. In the end it was made right. Thank you! I would love to make another future visit to Sam Wo.

Hong Kong Lounge is a bustling restaurant located in the Outer Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco, offering a varied menu of traditional and innovative dim sum dishes. The massive spot is popular among loyal customers seeking authentic Cantonese dim sum staples such as taro cakes, sticky rice in lotus leaf, and pork buns. The restaurant's classic offerings include siu mai, XO noodles, and fried sticky rice.
Hong Kong Lounge has been a staple in my life since I was a kid, and it continues to impress with its classic Chinese cuisine. Nestled in the Richmond district, this restaurant consistently serves some of the best Chinese food in the area. Whether you're craving dim sum or a full banquet-style meal, their menu is packed with flavorful, authentic options that never disappoint. The back room is a hidden gem, perfect for hosting banquets or larger gatherings. It's spacious and has that traditional charm that makes any celebration feel extra special. What really sets Hong Kong Lounge apart is their consistent quality and the nostalgic vibe that comes with every visit. If you're looking for top-tier Chinese food in the Richmond district, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!
Daniel C — Google review
We had a long layover so I was looking for some decent dim sum without breaking the bank. Back in Chicago, I could always find a decent dim sum place. Reddit led me here and reviews were okay. We ordered salt and pepper tofu cubes, deep fried crab claws, almond balls filled with egg yolk lava, curry beef dumplings, dried scallop with taro dumplings, and deep fried shrimp balls. The ones that I thought were decent to eat were salt and pepper tofu cubes, deep fried crab claws, and deep fried shrimp balls. The other ones I forced myself to finish, since the food was a bit overpriced and I hate wasting food. Food overall was pretty mediocre so 3 stars is sufficient. Nothing truly stood out for me. Service was okay, standard in most Chinese restaurants. The place was clean but initially when we walked in there were barely any Chinese people eating there. First red flag. More Chinese people came later but that still didn’t change the quality of the food. This was my second time in SF, and Chinese food here hasn’t really impressed me that much.

Liked my experience here! I got the cilantro chive rice roll, pork and taro fried dumplings, shrimp and bamboo dumplings, garlic bokchoy, and fried tofu skin with shrimp inside. The tea was delicious!!! The service was quality! It smelled a little strange inside though. The bokchoy was yummy but could have been cooked a little longer to be more tender. The pork and taro dumpling was too fried for me personally and super greasy. The tofu skin was quite fried but still yummy! Not too expensive for the quality and service. Might go back again!

Hong Kong Lounge is a well-known dim sum spot in San Francisco, and I gave it a try based on glowing reviews claiming it’s close to the real Hong Kong experience. The ambiance and presentation definitely hit the mark—they’ve got that classic, slightly upscale dim sum vibe down. However, when it came to flavor, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. Maybe my expectations were too high, having grown up with traditional dim sum, but I’d give the overall taste a 7/10. The 小籠包 (pork soup dumpling) was the biggest letdown—bland and lacking that burst of rich broth. On the bright side, everything came out piping hot, so handle with care. Dim sum always pairs well with hot tea, and I recommend mixing your own dipping sauce: light soy sauce, red vinegar, and chili crisp. Price is on the medium high side. Keep in mind there’s a $25 credit card minimum. Parking is tough around here—as expected in SF—but there’s a lot at Geary and 21st Ave. if you come early, just a short walk away. And don't expect a Chinese restaurant to be quiet, especially dim sum restaurants.

Delicious Dim Sum at Unbeatable Prices – A Must-Try Lunch Spot! I had lunch at this Chinese dim sum restaurant and was thoroughly impressed! They offer a special lunch menu with select dim sum items starting as low as $3.99—and the best part is, there’s no compromise on quality or taste. Every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Should a service tip at a restaurant be calculated based on the total amount before or after tax?

even with plenty of dim sum spots in the richmond, hong kong lounge stands out with all the well made classics in a traditional atmosphere. highlights were the durian pastries, rolled rice rolls
Andrea S — Google review
The food was decent but the sneaky tipping was unacceptable. They tried to write in a tipping value for me and I was quite upset about that. I dont mind giving more but if its going to be forced and not disclosed up front, similar to when you post something on the menu or on the front door that tips are automatically applied with X number of guests then I can understand. Food: everything came out hot, not sure if it is like this throughout the day as we did arrive as soon as they opened. The taste was fairly good overall, some dishes better than others. Atmosphere: Loud, lots of talking amongst guest but also staff was loud. They also were banging and tossing dishes and utensils loudly. Price: the cost is quite reasonable for the serving sizes but the tipping is definitely something you need to ask about and ask them to remove if you dont agree. Staff: staff seemed courteous, but we didn't have major interactions, only limited initial exchanges.

Reasonable dim sum, very classic institution. Didn't love the BBQ pork buns and shen Jian bao. The har gow was fantastic. Liked the zongzi too

New Woey Loy Goey Restaurant, located on Jackson Street, is a hidden gem serving traditional Chinese dishes in an unassuming basement-level setting. With nearly a century of operation under its belt and changing ownership over the years, this restaurant continues to offer homestyle Cantonese cuisine at unbeatable prices. The extensive menu features favorites like steamed pork hash with salted fish, salt-and-pepper prawns-in-shell, and roast chicken stuffed with glutinous rice.
Amazing food. The Peking pork ribs was perfectly sauced and sweet and savory. The black bean fish had this great umami flavor. The vegetables were garlicky and refreshing. The staff were nice and friendly. Large portions. Definitely will come again.

Was recommended to point out that they mentioned it was one of the few chinese spots that had served food with a Hong Kong style flair. They had such great service that they catered to our every need. The lady who waited on us was attentive and kind. Her helpers were prompt and served us well. Our orders were... The chicken fried rice plate. From the lunch special menu. The roast duck over white rice. Roast pork with bean curds over white rice. Chicken cashew with vegeys over white rice. And Asian noodles with mushrooms. It was nice. I would recommend it.

Hot tea. Hot flavorful food. Cold Budweiser. Friendly customer service. Clean bathroom. Everything was great except my water cup wasn’t too clean. They need a new dishwasher

If you like authentic Chinese food in a dive setting THIS is the place. I loved it! ( reminded me of our favorite NYC Chinatown place). When we entered it was all Chinese families eating there and our servers spoke very little English. Service was fast but not super helpful because of the language barrier. The hot and sour soup was delicious and quite spicy. My chow fun was awesome and the beef was very tender! And it was cheap!

Average. Average food in average Chinatown restaurant with average cleanliness. Not bad. The staff work really hard & fast running around. Value for money not bad. If this is the "New" restaurant, I'd hate to go to the 'Old' one! 😆. Please 👍 if accurate or helpful! 🙏

I been a customer here since my middle school days since I have connections with the owner. They have the best salt and pepper chicken wings that I have ever eaten. Cool little underground laid back spot that offers authentic Chinese food and service. They have a vast menu packed with many delicious options. It can be packed at times since it’s affordable and yummy. Definitely I will be back!

This basement restaurant is surprisingly clean and orderly compared to many other restaurants of the same era in Chinatown. They have many lunch specials under $10, see photo of the menu. Our lunch special also comes with a free light soup and tea. Consider some restaurants are now charging $2 per person for tea (we need to boycott those). The waitresses are very friendly and helpful which is unheard of in Chinese restaurants 🤣

I used to come here a lot with other long time Chinatown friends in the past 30 years. I decided to see what was going on and give it a chance despite some recent questionable reviews.... Those reviews were not that far from the truth. The most relevant thing that I observed was that there is NEW management. Not only was the service unhelpful, the, I presume, the owner, not knowing a lick of English, using some translation app with me and other customers, the price being jacked up by A LOT (not only compared to the past, but also to surrounding restaurants), but most importantly, the food was very unappetizing compared to how it was in the past 5+ years. It took a long time for my dish to come out despite there being barely anyone in the restaurant. I am pretty sure that not only is there new management, but I think the people working in the kitchen have left too. I think it might be wise to try another restaurant in Chinatown now, given the many options. Pretty disappointing it has come to this...

Dim sum restaurant
Restaurant
Dragon Beaux is a stylish Asian-fusion restaurant located in San Francisco's Richmond neighborhood. It offers an upscale dining experience with booth seating and a modern ambiance. As an off-shoot of Daly City's Koi Palace, it has gained popularity for its innovative approach to dim sum and hot pot dishes.
A wonderful place for top notch dim sum! Arrived 15 minutes before opening and there was a queue already waiting on. Saturday morning. Every party in line was seated when the doors opened. Nice, elegant ambiance. We were lucky to get the booth seating with nice padded benches and carved stone accents. I'm guessing it's because we made reservations in advance. Great selection of teas to order. No rolling carts, items are ordered from the menu and brought to your table. Great selection of items, from the typical traditional items to some more unique items. All were delicious, served hot fresh from the kitchen. Our favorites include the fried sea bass cubes, spinach sesame flatbread, crispy roast pork, and beef brisket stew on rice rolls. Service was excellent and attentive. The staff were fluent in both English and Chinese. We ordered a lot to sample the dishes but took the remainder home. Staff expertly packed up the food for us at the table. Well worth the trip and treat for a great meal.

From out of town and tried a wide assortment of things! Not pictured, roasted squab, so delicious! Everything was delicious and if you want to experience sf in one sitting, Dragon Beaux is the place to go! I recommend making a reservation since this is a popular spot to eat, once seated the service is very attentive! Great atmosphere for a celebration or even a casual meal!

aside from the prompt service, the variety of teas to choose from, and the perfectly sized menu (imo i get sooo overwhelmed by most dim sum menus), the decor and vibes of the place are unique and different. my favorite was definitely the crispy pork belly (you HAVE to try it), green beans, chicken wings, soya tofu, and specialty har gow. the XLB were not the best i've had, but i do enjoy the creativity. street parking is ass as always in richmond, but on a sunday at 2pm, there wasn't a wait and the service was better than expected of a dim sum establishment. bill came out to be around $120 for 3, which is really really worth it for the quality of the food. probably my favorite dim sum in the bay!! definitely coming back for more

We came to Dragon Beaux after seeing fellow Vinkin's beautiful food photos. That guy is pretty awesome. The main attraction was the sand storm crab $49. At my age, it is hard to find something new. I've never heard of sand storm crab before. It was a deep fried crab with cilantro, minced garlic, scallions, peppers and fermented black beans. Fermented black beans is typically used in dishes like stir-fried clams. The sand storm crab was not bad. It was really oily. Still, tasty nevertheless. The other two dishes we had were the seafood crispy noodles $24 and honey pepper wings $13. Both were OK. The bonus was the free unexpected ice cream at the end of the meal. The restaurant is clean, no wait on a Tuesday night with excellent service and a speedy kitchen. Great meal.

I am a particularly big fan of Chinese food and my family decided to eat here for my sister’s birthday and I love the food here so much. The service was very nice and the overall ambiance of the place was excellent for a Chinese restaurant. I give them five stars ⭐️. I highly recommend them for dinner.

My review may be a little unfair as maybe my ideal Chinese place is probably more "American" then I realize and I don't understand all the different types of Chinese restaurants. But the food was fine but not what I had envisioned. Couldn't ask for a better staff and so friendly but the options were overwhelming and left a little unsatisfied but no fault on them

I made a reservation for lunch on a weekday. It's really not necessary if you get there at opening time. There were several already waiting and standing in a distributed queue but once the doors were unlocked everyone seemed to know who got there first. There appear to be some dim sum favorites that are ready at 11am. One of them is the har gow which was promptly placed at our table right after we submitted our order sheet. The 5 star dishes were the shrimp dumpling (har gow), char siu crepe and the stir-fried green beans. The taro puff, tofu roulette, beef bao and 5-guys xiaolongbao were 4-stars. The condiments like Zhenjiang vinegar for xiaolongbao and red rice vinegar came served in shallow dishes upon request. There's nothing placed on the table to start. The service was quick with many people attending to food delivery, dish removal, hot water addition to our tea pot. The vibe of the place is lively and energetic because of the clientele that are meeting up with friends and family and work colleagues.

We had a Sunday dim sum brunch here. They take reservations online for a party of up to 6 people and over the phone as well. When we showed up, we were seated immediately. The interior decor was tasteful and soon the restaurant was full. There were no dim sum carts being pushed around. Everything needs to be ordered on the menu with a pencil. The dim sum items were generally all very good. The BBQ buns, soup dumplings, spinach dumplings, rice crepes stuffed with shrimp or beef, spring rolls, eggplants stuffed with shrimp paste, etc were all delicious, even better with their mildly spicy chili sauce. The Peking duck took a while to serve and the waiter explained it was made to order. The duck was very juicy but the only caveat is that the duck meat still had bones, which was not how authentic Peking duck is served. The price is on the higher end for dim sum foods, but the restaurant website said they use higher quality ingredients.

ROOH SF is a Michelin Guide-featured restaurant in the Bay Area that offers an innovative take on Indian cuisine and unique cocktails. The outdoor dining area boasts a spacious courtyard, sidewalk seating, and gas-powered heat lamps with branded fleece blankets available for purchase. Indoor seating is also an option, but reservations are recommended. Chef Pujan Sarkar has been leading the kitchen for seven years, crafting 'progressive Indian' dishes that have garnered acclaim.
Outstanding, all around — the food, service, ambiance, all impressive. We have been to this restaurant a few times and enjoyed it each time. If you like unique flavor combinations, Rooh will certainly please your palate. Last night we enjoyed the Dahi Puri, Butter Chicken Kulcha, Potato Tiki and Crispy Okra. To accompany the food we opted for the Mumbai Chai; I recommend at least one person at the table order this for its spectacular presentation. I love chai anything, so this is also my fave drink. Take note— on a Monday night there was a wait at the door. Being two of us only, we were able to walk and seat ourselves at the bar; you want to ask the host first before doing that. If you’re a larger party I recommend placing a reservation. Fabulous evening, always special.

This place is for special occasions given the prices. Food was excellent. Each dish had a unique flavor and texture and presentation. Dishes are flavorful but not spicy. Portions are small. A small plate can be shared by two. Large is enough for one. Parking is on the street outside. Was not crowded on a Sunday evening. Service was attentive. Decent cocktail selection, again, the offerings are unique. We had lamb chops, paneer pinwheels, paneer puffs, Dahi Puri and the Masala lamb. $80 per person excluding tip

Unfortunately, I’m not impressed and expected much more based on what I’d heard about this place. The atmosphere is just okay, especially considering today’s standards for a decent restaurant. Service was good and quick. The food, however, was below average. Portions were small, and the cocktails were not good at all— the Negroni, in particular, was disappointing if you know how a proper Negroni should taste. The food overall weren’t impressive: nothing unique, not much of a “feel of India,” and not modern enough either. The desserts - I didn’t like at all. But on the plate everything looked kinda nice though. The worst part was that after dining here, I experienced horrible abdominal pain that lasted until the morning. If others enjoy this place, that’s fine, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll like it too.

Phenomenal food but quite a problematic service experience and would have me doubt coming again. We arrived within 10 minutes of our reservation and was promptly seated. Waiters from the start were scattered. For such a popular and expensive restaurant, we were disappointed that their first listed sparkling wine by the bottles were out and went with another. Appetizers and small plates all tasted phenomenal particularly the pani puri. Medhu vada was mediocre at best. Aloo tiki was very good. For main course, we had to request a few times for the waiters to come back. Nothing was spectacular in the mains but all well done. We waited probably 20 mins for dessert menus. Loved the kaju katli and the gulab dish, unimpressed by the panna cotta Waited another 20 mins for the cheque and less than 2 mins after signing, the hostess said “we’ve been taking too long and another table is waiting”. This was a terribly disheartening way to have to be ushered out of a meal where there was barely one other family waiting at the restaurant. Many of the waiters didn’t speak English and were generally not approachable. Honestly the service for a $400 meal was terrible and may recommend other hundred dollar restaurants with better service at this price point

The experience was a bit underwhelming overall — definitely more hype than substance. The ambiance is quite nice, but the service left a lot to be desired. Food-wise, the appetizers were the highlight. The dahi puri and palak patta chaat were flavorful and well-presented. Unfortunately, the entrees didn’t match up. The kofta was decent, but the paneer pinwheel was extremely sour and not worth ordering. Breads like the naan and lachha paratha were fine but nothing standout. Dessert was a unique touch — the kaju katli cake had an interesting twist but might not appeal to everyone. Overall, come for the ambiance and maybe a round of chaat, but don’t expect too much from the mains or the service.

We rly enjoyed Tiya (ex ROOH chef’s new restaurant) so came to try ROOH which is a more casual but still modern Indian restaurant. Although the dishes weren’t as creative and meticulously executed, they were all very good! Nothing was impressive but nothing was bad either. Would maybe come back to ROOH with friends, and go to Tiya for date nights :) Recommend the dahi puri! The paneer pinwheel was ok - maybe our expectations were too high. The lamb shank was good. Chili crab was too oily and crispy prawns too sweet. A bit overpriced for what it is - on the other hand although Tiya is more expensive, we felt like it was totally worth it. Still, a cool spot in the neighborhood to hang out and try smt new.

This place calls itself Progressive Indian but I feel its just for namesake. Dishes felt like they were not innovative, the jackfruit tacos were really good but all other dishes we ordered nothing really made you feel like its a fine dine. We ordered Aloo Tikki, Tacos and pav bhaji for small plates - bhaji was decent but are you trying to impress non - indians with the taste? It was mid. Aloo tikki i can also make it better than that nothing good, presentation was good. For large plates we ordered Veg Kofta and Paneer pinwheel - the curries were good but fine dine ? Nah not at all. You would expect that in such places the Naan and stuff is bang on like it should melt in your mouth. We had to send it back. A $2 naan from any normal indian place we go to is better. Service also the waiter seemed like a normal shanti sagar waiter he was not selling anything well, felt disinterested. About the place like every dish is good but not fine dine. Just feels like the head chef owner are bored and they know they’re gonna make money anyway so why innovate. I would not recommend wasting money here - many better places in town and south bay.

Rooh San Francisco – A Contemporary Indian Journey with Highs and a Few Misses Rooh SF continues its bold exploration of modern Indian cuisine with inventive takes on classic dishes. Our recent dining experience highlighted both its strengths and areas where refinement could elevate the offering further. Dahi Puri A delightful start—the yogurt mousse adds a luxurious lift to the traditional street food staple. The flavor balance is spot on, but the puri itself feels like an opportunity for reinvention. A crisper, more delicate shell or a creative reinterpretation could push this dish into truly memorable territory. Delhi Palak Patta A standout dish. The flash-fried spinach layered on top was a brilliant touch, retaining crunch and visual appeal. It’s a sophisticated nod to its street-side roots. That said, it missed the crunchy contrast that fried besan typically brings. A touch more sweetness in the chutneys could enhance the balance. Chili Paneer and Cotija Cheese Puff This dish, unfortunately, felt underdeveloped. The puff pastry left a residual margarine-like film, and the filling was dry and underseasoned. A butter-based pastry and a more flavorful, well-seasoned paneer filling could transform this into a winner. As it stands, it needs a complete reimagining to align with Rooh’s otherwise thoughtful menu. Kashmiri Nadru Conceptually intriguing, but the execution needs refinement. While crispy lotus stem is a welcome textural element, it turns chewy and sticky under the sauce. The yogurt dip could benefit from added sweetness and airiness—perhaps through light whipping or a creamier base. Paneer Pinwheel A must-try for vegetarians. The execution is clean, and the presentation appealing. Charring the paneer with a blowtorch and introducing a subtle smokiness in the gravy would elevate this already strong dish to the next level. Vegetable Kofta The kofta reminded me pleasantly of Japanese croquettes—crisp, golden, and comforting. However, the accompanying sauce lacked depth or that elusive je ne sais quoi to tie the dish together fully. Breads Both the naan and the laccha paratha were excellent—flaky, fresh, and well-prepared. Dessert – Kaju Katli Layer Cake This was a clever and nostalgic idea, reimagining a beloved sweet in layered form. Executed as a Napoleon-style dessert with crisp puff pastry, custard, and delicate kaju katli layers, it could become a signature finale. Service Impeccable. The staff were attentive, made thoughtful recommendations, and remained highly accommodating throughout our meal. ⸻ Overall Verdict: Rating 9/10 Rooh SF continues to lead the way in modern Indian cuisine with bold concepts and polished service. With a bit more refinement in a few dishes, the experience could become truly unforgettable.

Chinese restaurant
Old Mandarin Islamic Restaurant is a neighborhood gem that has been serving up authentic northern Chinese cuisine for decades. Run by the dedicated mom-and-pop team of Feng Wang and Xuqun Yang, this restaurant offers a rare glimpse into Muslim Chinese cuisine with dishes like spicy lamb ribs, hand-pulled noodles, and juicy handmade lamb dumplings. The Beijing-style hot pot is a standout dish, now available on the patio with added protection from the Outer Sunset breezes.
Based on the reviews, it's hard to determine if Old Mandarin is among the best or the worst restaurants in SF. So I decided to check it out for myself. From the outside, it has a simple vibe and is very up-front about being a Halal restaurant (which I appreciate as a Muslim). Stepping inside, I can admire the variety of decorations and artwork that cover the walls. My party is quickly guided to a table and provided with menus. The waiter wasn't particularly chatty, but he was friendly, professional, & prompt, which is all I look for. He collected our orders and within a few minutes, the food was ready. For entrees, I shared the Cumin Lamb Stir-Fry and the Eggplant in Spicy Garlic Sauce, both of which were recommended in . The lamb was flavorful and satisfying, while the subtle sweetness of the eggplant was beautifully complemented by the sauce. A simple side of white rice was all else that was needed to complete my meal. I will now touch on price, which seems to be a contentious point in many reviews. Firstly, a few have called out the "hidden" fees that materialized on the receipt, like the gratuity. However, the menu was pretty upfront about what they included.. (Now you may have an opinion on the existence of those fees, but that's probably outside the scope of a review..) Secondly, I am stumped as to why the prices are considered higher than expected. I have never considered SF a "cheap" place to eat, and there are far worse offenders that should be called out before Old Mandarin. My guess is that this is more expensive than other Chinese "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants, but I cannot classify this as "merely" hole-in-the-wall due to the quality and the exclusive usage of Halal ingredients. I was pretty satisfied with the portions, and the per-person cost was ~$30, hardly the worst for an occasional dine-in meal. One point I will agree with is that they should offer free water in a glass, instead of assuming "water" == $2 bottled water. I suppose Europeans would be used to this.. Overall, I was happy with my meal at Old Mandarin and look forward to future visits. Maybe I will have to revise my review but I hope not.

07/30/25 Old Mandarin Islamic Restaurant was recommended to us by a friend, so we decided to give it a try! Parking: For a quiet day in San Francisco, parking was okay, however it was a bit of trouble for a bigger vehicle. Thankfully, the parking spot we got was on the opposite side of the street and relatively close to the restaurant. Seating: Once arriving to the restaurant, there were only two pairs of people who were seated, so there was no wait time to get a table for our big group. Service: The staff were incredibly kind and were offering us suggestions on places to go during our visit (we were tourists)! We did not have to wait very long before our food came, which was surprising since we ordered six dishes. Food: The food was fresh, served piping hot, and every dish had a different flavour. The shrimp was juicy, the beef was soft, the tofu’s sauce was exquisite, and so much more! To top it all off, we were offered a complimentary dessert which was DELICIOUS! Dishes we ordered: * Tofu with Double Mushrooms * Sweet and Sour Shrimp * Cold Beijing Noodle with sesame paste (vegan) * Chicken jalapeños * Combo chow mein and combo fried rice * Cumin lamb

This is a proper no nonsense place for halal Chinese food. Service is super swift and staff friendly. Prices are a bit on the higher side. So is the level of spice in the food so be careful and they even warn you accordingly. So when they mention too spicy , then believe it! Portions are large as well.

Everything here on menu, amazing. Pleasing to a wide-crowd, an excellent option when dining out with halal or kosher friends. A reflection of China’s rich history along the Silk Road. Cumin Lamb, a highlight. Spice-forward and dry stir-fried, water chestnuts a textural treat. Crack Fish Chef’s Special, reminiscent of a Sichuan classic — with a mildly mala, chili pepper and numbing peppercorn broth. Eggplant, excellent. Alcohol (including baijiu) available — menu perfect as drinking accompaniments.

I went there with my family, the food was good and I would definitely recommend however there are only 2 tables with 5+ seating options (the rest are for 2-4 people) so when another bigger group came, the owners kept on rushing us with continuous questions about how the food is and started clearing our table. We got the hot & sour soup, garlic chicken with steamed rice, hotpot and chowmein (the steamed rice is single serving).

You will never know how amazing this restaurant if you not go inside. It’s a restaurant, the food here is so great, fresh and delicious. but it really more likes a Chinese traditional culture museum. The owner has so many old furnitures, everything has their own stories. I’m so attracted by the owner when he talked about the history and culture. And also, the owner took so many pics with very famous people. If you like Chinese history and traditional Chinese tastes, try here. You will not disappoint.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I want to share my most recent experience here. I’ve been to this restaurant at least five times since moving from China a couple of years ago, and unfortunately, the quality has noticeably declined while the prices have gone up. Our recent meal for two came out to almost $200, with a mandatory 16% tip already added to the bill, leaving no option to reduce or adjust it. Food: • The lamb was not fresh — a big disappointment, especially for a halal restaurant where freshness should be a priority. • The hotpot broth was very bland, and since I don’t use dipping sauces, the lack of flavor in the meat was obvious. • The mushu beef had far too many vegetables and very little meat. • The seafood bun was just okay, but at $20+ each, I expected more filling compared to the thick bun. Service: There was essentially no service. No water was provided (only bottled water for purchase), and when we asked for extra bowls, staff were too busy — we ended up using teacups as dipping bowls. Overall, the value just isn’t there anymore. With declining food quality, high prices, and poor service, I don’t think I’ll be returning.

Truly the most delicious meat I've ever tasted! I highly recommend it. Especially the lemon chicken, onion pancake, spicy beef stew, and lamb shank. The lamb shank was cooked to perfection, the meat was incredibly tender. The same goes for the lemon chicken, which falls apart the moment you touch it. I will DEFINITELY COMING BACK, I LOVED IT!

Have not been here for many years so was curious to see/experience the latest... The menu looked promising. The crispy fried chicken, flavorful with surprisingly light & crispy skin, was very good. (As per menu, 30-minute prep time required.) Bitter melon with beef was not bad, but there was a large puddle of oil on the bottom. The special clay pot (contained some meats & seafood) was mediocre. Shrimp with lobster sauce was very salty, and unfortunately resembled scrambled eggs + shrimp instead of the expected creamy sauce. Lasting impressions: good fried chicken, very difficult parking, and unfriendly hostess/waitress.

This place was a complete disaster for me this evening. My order was 25 minutes late, cold, and terrible. The deluxe chow and glazed chicken were both way overcooked, which made the noodles mushy and the chicken was too tough to eat. The deluxe chow noodles tasted of pure dough and were also terribly under-sauced. The "pork" in the dish was sliced ham. There were only two shrimp in the entire dish. The chicken was spicy and old. It was clearly cooked and then recooked and possibly fried again. I would not recommend this spot and I would never go back. My total was near $50 for this. Gross!

The portion for a single order of Chicken Fried Rice and single order of Potstickers is enough for 2 adults. I split it with my wife and we have fried rice leftovers for later tonight. They make their own potstickers because the ingredients are full of flavour, the skin is the perfect thickness (not thick whatsoever) and they put corn kernels inside with the other ingredients. Most Chinese restaurant in the city have not satisfied my experienced palette in decades. My wife has travelled to China for work projects and agrees that this place is truly authentic. Real Chinese fried rice should not have carrots and peas; it should only be rice, choice of meat, egg, green onion and seasoning. This place does a great job and I highly recommend it. They are friendly and professional when you go inside to pay for the take out. I will definitely be a regular and look forward to trying the other menu items on their new menu. Thank you Gourmet Carousel for the tasty meal!

Really kind staff! I accidentally left my passport there, and when I returned the next day, I was warmly greeted and relieved to find my belongings had been kept safe. Truly appreciated! The food was also authentic and fresh. 生意興隆!

If you're on the hunt for a budget-friendly dining experience, look no further than House of Pancakes. Nestled in Parkside, this charming Chinese eatery specializes in savory pancakes that perfectly complement their array of wok dishes and hand-pulled noodles. With every item priced under $10.95, it's an ideal spot to satisfy your cravings without breaking the bank—especially after unexpected expenses like car repairs!
The beef roll pancake was SO GOOD. Definitely coming back here, just for that. The veggie dumpling was okay (would not get again) and the rib hand pulled noodles was also delicious. Note: cash only!

Got the beef roll, eggplant, and spicy fish fillet (not pictured). Fish was extremely oily but I should've known from the name, eggplant is well cooked but not too exceptional, and beef roll is great.

I randomly walked past here and decided to come in. The environment is about average. It’s pretty clean, but you can tell that it’s a little old and definitely not fancy . The owner was super friendly to me and she recommended me the two pancake that I ordered. The pork pancake I got was really good. For the price is really big portion. And it was fresh out of the pan, so it was extremely hot, and there are also some meat juice inside. The roll beef pancake was also very good. It has some green onions in the inside, which was a kick. I don’t seem to find these kind of restaurants a lot in the city . So it’s a surprise to me. I recommend visit here .

This was our first time trying House of Pancakes, and let's just say--the name is definitely misleading in the best way. While you might expect a traditional breakfast spot, this cozy, mom-and-pop-style restaurant serves up hearty Northern Chinese dishes packed with flavor. We came with a large group of extended family and were impressed with how accommodating and friendly the staff were. They even made thoughtful dish recommendations based on our group size and preferences, which made the experience even better. We ordered quite a bit to share: Beef Pancakes (a house specialty) Lamb Skewers (spicy and non-spicy) Lamb Dumplings Pork Dumplings Lamb Stir-Fried Hand-Pulled Noodles Fresh Cucumber Salad Overall, the food was delicious and flavorful. That said, if you're not a fan of lamb (like me), just be aware that the lamb skewers and dumplings can be a bit gamey. The spicy skewers helped mask it a bit, thanks to a generous sprinkle of paprika. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the lamb stir-fried noodles--the lamb in that dish was melt-in-your-mouth tender and tasted more like beef than lamb to me. Unfortunately, I couldn't try the beef pancakes due to dietary restrictions, but my cousins absolutely loved them and said they were a must-order. The pork dumplings were a standout for me--juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. And the cucumber salad was refreshing and balanced everything out nicely. The restaurant has a small, casual diner vibe that gives it local charm--nothing fancy, but welcoming and perfect for sharing a flavorful meal with family or friends.

House of Pancakes is an absolute gem. All the food is amazing. The staff is super friendly. They're quick. It's not too expensive (but you need to pay cash when dining in). One of my favorite restaurants in the city!

House of Pancakes was one of the coziest & tastiest meals I’ve had in recent memory. The garlic green beans and the beef roll pancake were the most notable items for sure. So tasty!! The hand-pulled noodles were good as well, especially on a rainy day. The garlic green The food is what earned the five stars here. The service and ambiance were alright. I wouldn’t say either were notable. It took me a few tries to flag down a server to get water, but they were quick with the tea and with the food! Overall, I’d definitely come back here!
Sam M — Google review
The House of Pancakes is a small restaurant and you'll likely find yourself sitting directly behind another chair or table, but everyone respects their space. In the end, we are all there for the same thing — to enjoy the hand pulled noodles, savory pancakes and all other varieties of delicious dishes. One of the dishes that stood out to all of us were the green beans and garlic. Stir fried simply and to perfection. Also, I recommend ordering the more flavorful sesame pancake in place of the standard pancake. The sesame seeds add an extra nuttiness to the pancake. The staff is friendly, the food wa served quickly and the place was clean. Parking can be a tad difficult to find, especially during peak hours.

Important- Cash only, no cards accepted! Quite possibly the best tasting chinese and the best value for money at this place! We tried the eggplant, beans and hand pulled noodles. All were very well made. The steamed veggie dumplings and the salt and pepper tofu were ok, however we made them better with the help of additional condiments already on the table! The restaurant is quite small with a few tables, so book in advance just in case!

Cantonese restaurant
Empress by Boon, located in San Francisco's Chinatown, is a captivating restaurant that offers seasonal Cantonese meals, wines, and cocktails in an opulent setting with booth seating. The restaurant is the brainchild of Malaysia-born Michelin-starred Chef Ho Chee Boon and opened its doors in June 2021 inside the former space of Empress of China. The interior has been fully restored to modernize the space while preserving some original woodwork.
It's a bit of a splurge so I think everyone should ensure they like the entire set menu before going. I did my part and reviewed the menu before booking. I also saw that a lot of Canto/Chinese people really liked it, and I thought that was the most authentic sign that it could be worth treating my parents. I had dinner reservations, took my visiting parents, and we thought everything was quite delicious and perfect. Also, very grateful to the head chef for the extra tea refills :)

We had Mother’s Day brunch & food was good but if you had a big appetite the portions seemed small. The set lunch menu was just good but nothing very special. The waiting time was really long & we spent 3 hours & the waiting for 30 minutes between each serving was way too long. The food served could easily be cooked in larger batches, & since they only offered one menu it hard to understand the long wait. Also main courses were served family style & there were no fancy plating. Dessert was nice. The decorations & view definitely deserved a positive mention. Overall not worth it for us to drive an hour to go back and try dinner

Had a wonderful experience here. The food was Master Class. The atmosphere was refined casual. A tasting menu of a modernized Cantonese cuisine. Highly recommend it if you have the time. Dinner was 3 hours.

The interior is very cosy with different places to eat. The food was more than delicious. One of the best Chinese restaurants I visited. The service was more than perfect. With 2 minors we were not allowed to sit at the bar and nobody was sitting in the lounge so the waiter gave us a table where the full menu people were sitting. Very nice gesture. Having diner is not only about the food but it is a full experience.

Empress by Boon is hands-down one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in San Francisco. The space is stunning—with incredible views of Coit Tower—and the food? Next-level. Chef Boon’s Cantonese menu hits all the right notes: bold, creative, and seriously delicious. Huge shoutout to Gabriela, our server, who was absolutely amazing. Friendly, super knowledgeable, and made us feel totally taken care of from start to finish. Every dish she recommended was a hit. If you’re looking for a special night out with unforgettable food and views, Empress by Boon should be at the top of your list.

Empress Delight 💯 Situated in the heart of San Francisco’s Chinatown, Empress by Boon opened during the peak of COVID in 2021 replacing the historic Empress of China restaurant famed for its traditional Cantonese cuisine and upscale dining The complete reimagining of the restaurant space capitalized on the space’s sky high ceilings and picturesque skyline views but features an entirely new prixe fixe menu While Chef Ho Chee Boon has Cantonese cuisine training by way of Hakkasan, the dishes also reflect the influences of Malaysia, Bangkok, and more reflecting his experiences opening restaurants worldwide We loved the creativity and the flavors of many of the night’s dishes but the highlight of our meal was definitely speaking to Chef Ho Chee Boon himself who often stops by table side when he’s at his namesake restaurant We heard tales of the challenges of opening during a pandemic, his passion to bring high-end, Chinese cuisine to the forefront, and the diverse clientele who now occupy his restaurant as San Francisco finds its identity with remote workers and rising costs Favorites of our meal included the steamed dumplings, the phenomenal braised pork belly and, the add-on organically sourced and exclusive to Empress’s Peking duck, easily one of the best renditions I’ve had anywhere 📷Prix Fixe Menu $118 ~ Crispy Vegetarian Bean Roll, Pine Nuts, Tiger Prawns / Jasmine Tea Smoked Short Ribs Buns / Steamed Squid and Shrimp Dumplings / Gullian Stir Fried Quail / Live Boston Lobster / Noodles with Ginger Scallion / Wok Fried Asparagus with Chicken / Braised Pork Belly / Roast Peking Duck (supplemental add on) / Assorted desserts (add-on) 📍Empress by Boon (San Francisco, CA) Reservations are recommend. Indoor dining only. All credit cards including AmEx are accepted.

Empress by Boon delivers a truly refined dining experience that blends traditional Cantonese cuisine with contemporary flair. Every dish on the prix fixe menu was beautifully crafted, both in flavor and presentation. The Braised Dungeness Crab with Kaluga Caviar set the tone for the evening—delicate, luxurious, and full of umami. The sweetness of the crab was enhanced by the subtle salinity of the caviar, making it a standout starter. Another favorite was the Braised Pork Belly Puff—perfectly flaky on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside. It struck a lovely balance between richness and texture. The Steamed Shrimp and Squid Dumpling was a masterclass in technique: translucent, delicate skin with a juicy seafood filling that felt both comforting and elevated. For mains, the Grilled Black Cod with Soya Honey and Cloud Ear was unforgettable. The fish was buttery and perfectly cooked, with just enough sweetness from the honey to complement the earthy wood ear mushrooms. The Mongolian-Style Pan-Fried Wagyu Beef with Crispy Taro delivered a bold, savory punch. The taro added a unique crunch that played wonderfully against the tenderness of the beef. And finally, the Thick Noodles with Lobster, Scallop, and Whitebait was a luxurious way to end the meal—generous seafood, chewy noodles, and a deeply satisfying broth. Service was just as impressive as the food: gracious, knowledgeable, and perfectly paced. Empress by Boon isn’t just a dinner—it’s a curated culinary journey through modern Cantonese cuisine, and one I’d return for in a heartbeat.

It was my birthday dinner. Not gonna lie when our Uber arrived in Chinatown, I was initially a bit disappointed. As someone born and raised in China, I usually have 0 expectations for Chinese food in SF. However, Empress by Boon completely won me over (or maybe my boyfriend impressed me ;)). It was without a doubt the best meal I’ve had in SF! The stunning view of the city and the gorgeous ambiance only added to the experience. Every dish we ordered was incredible, with beautiful presentation and rich flavors. From the fish shaped shrimp dumplings to the slow braised pork and the innovative Peking duck, even the simple stir fried vegetables were exceptional. I had a wonderful evening there and left thoroughly impressed, grateful and happy!

Dim sum restaurant
Chinese restaurant
HK Lounge Bistro is a top spot for Cantonese and Southern Chinese cuisine in the city. Their dim sum brunch and dinner service are exceptional, with standout dishes like the lettuce cups with chicken stir-fried pine nuts and basil. The portion sizes are perfect for family-style dining, and delicacies like the Chilean Sea Bass encourage savoring each bite. While some may experience sticker shock, the high quality of food and service justifies the prices.
Excellent dimsum. Came for the siu mai and shrimp toast but ordered so much more from their enticing menu. The dimsum was the absolute best in San Francisco, and I tried 3 different dimsum places in one week during my stay. I love the thoughtfully made sauces that accompanied the items. They truly enhanced the flavors of the dimsum. We ordered the soup dumplings, the honey BBQ pork, pork and shrimp siumai, shrimp hargow, chive and shrimp dumplings, and shrimp toast. Chefs kiss. The one huge deterrent is the smaller space, which means reservations are recommended. And my goodness, it was soooooo loud in there. It was the only unpleasant thing about our visit. It was uncomfortably loud, and it was very hard to enjoy a family dinner because we could hardly hear one another. The food and service were excellent and made up for the small space and noise level.
Bianca M — Google review
You can't deny that the quality here is amazing, but the prices for the dim sum really have you second-guessing life choices. We ordered 7 dishes among 3 people and for the total to come out to $60+ per person is insane, especially when a fried rice costs $30 and the tea wasn't complementary. The space itself is quite small with tight seating. You'll need to wait for a spot, which can take a while, but it's nice that they don't rush you to leave. You order off a menu and put check marks next to items you want.
James — Google review
The dim sum here was pretty good. Every dish was prepared well and tasted fresh. I'm not sure why the restaurant's ratings are so high though. While the food was fine, the prices were exorbitant, especially given the small portions. Perhaps the greatest offender was the $18 plate of black and pepper pork spare ribs. What we got were 8 little pieces of deep fried pork that were mostly just bones. The soup dumplings were very average. The wrapper was too thick and the meat filling wasn't terribly flavorful. The lotus-wrapped sticky rice was also very average. The small piece of pork in the middle was tasty, but the sticky rice lacked any real fragrance or flavor. The truffle salt shrimp toast was our favorite dish. Service was great - attentive and friendly . The restaurant is very small inside and can get quite noisy. The location is strange, in a non-descript, somewhat dodgy part of Soma.
Erick T — Google review
Chose to try this spot because it was close to me hotel and the number of positive reviews. I am glad I swung by for dim sum. A broader menu than you normally see at dim sum restaurants which was nice and you can tell that everything is cooked to order. I tried the chicken feet (always do!), their fish Cheung fun and steamed pork and shrimp dumplings. The chicken feet were very good. A little spice, but a nice sweetness to the sauce and the meat was tender and non gelatinouus. The shrimp and porn dumplings are very homemade, packed with filling but rather lacking flavor. You had to dip them in chili soy sauce for any flavor at all. The Cheung fun was fairly bland, as they generally are, but really great texture and for me and unusual sight on the menu.
Graham P — Google review
I have been trying many dimsum restaurants, honestly this one gave me a bit disappointed. Even though all the foods have a good temperature and juicy but the taste is really not that good. And yeah it's also expensive, you can see 5 pictures I uploaded and a pot of tea for over hundred dollar, there's also some special SF fee added. What can we say..it's just...San Francisco thing eh?? Also it feels like a fine dinning place rather than a dimsum; and I'll give my respect for all the professional servers over here. At least they make me feel better than how i think about my foods. There are plenty better places to give it a try, if you like a real dimsum journey, I will not recommend this place.
Jimmy K — Google review
A good Cantonese restaurant nestled in the heart of SF in Soma area. Food choices are good. But was very salty to my taste. We ordered sauteed chicken sea bass and chicken kung Pao, which was yum. Service was very good. Staff very courteous. Very difficult to find parking. Overall a good place for an evening. Must make reservations and not suitable for large groups. The place is secluded during weekend evenings
Sanjay B — Google review
This place came highly recommended but it is just average dim sum at high prices. We got the vegetable dumplings, the crab balls, and the mushroom lo mein. The crab balls were tasty, the only thing to recommend here. The lo mein is egg noodles not actually lo mein, so not sure what else is not accurate on the menu.
Alex D — Google review
Tldr western restaurant with a chinese skin. Not the place if you are looking for authenthic Chinese food. The 红油抄手 was sweet lol (westernized much?) and the Peking duck was probably the worst I've had with sweet buns. No idea how this place got a Michelin. I guess the moment this place had zero Chinese customers the moment I entered was a easy red flag.

This is the third time I have eaten at this restaurant. You can say I am a regular here. The food here is is amazing. I loved eating every bite of the duck 🦆 fried rice. The service was very good and the overall ambiance was amazing. I can see myself continuing to come back here. I highly recommend this place.

Review based on the string beans, chicken wings, mapo tofu, and chow fun. We wanted to order the Peking duck, however their oven malfunctioned when we waited an hour for the dish. So this review does not reflect that. Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: Casual with modern vibes and wonderful decor Value: 2/5 The dishes we ordered tasted fine and as expected, but I had wanted more “wow, this tastes better than other places”. It had a bit more western taste than authentic Chinese cuisine. We sat in the blocked off section for larger parties. The staff checked on us, but could have had more frequent refills and attentiveness. Staff was very friendly and when they discovered the duck wasn’t able to be served, they remedied the situation well. My biggest letdown was the value. I understand it’s in a popular neighborhood and overhead may be higher but the price to portion ratio was not good. Smaller portions that other like Chinese restaurants. I’m not a hater and wanted to love YH, but it didn’t happen for me.

Food was delicious, but they need to keep their hours up to date. Says they’re open from 11:30am so went at noon on a Friday, but it was closed. The sign outside their door also said open at 11:30am. We were counting on them for a family potluck so it was especially disappointing. Couldn’t even leave a voicemail cause it was full. We got the chicken wings, cucumber salad, xiaolongbao, black pepper chicken, mala noodles, and spicy mushrooms. Would recommend any of them

Food is fantastic with the duck skin done perfectly well. Small portion size is expected so quantity to price may be leaning low. Recommend: Peking duck, vegetable with mushroom
Johnny L — Google review
We went for a late-night meal close to closing time, and even though the staff seemed eager to wrap up, it didn’t bother us. The service was still great, and we were seated quickly. The food was delicious—we had the Wonton Soup, HK Crispy Noodles, Shrimp Shumai, and my favorite, the Double Mushroom with Bok Choy. Portions were generous, and we took the leftovers to go. The Chrysanthemum Tea was a lovely start to the meal. I definitely recommend this place!
Ali M — Google review
I really like this place. The best sichuan fish I’ve had, flavorful and tender fish, not just a spicy salty oil slick. All the dishes we had were great — garlic pea sprouts, vegetable delight, duck set, scallion pancake, cucumber salad, and chow fun. Staff was warm friendly and helpful
Katarina M — Google review
This is the restaurant I want to gatekeep. Seriously, I pray it never gets too popular—I need to be able to get a table without a wait. The food-Heavenly and the restaurant is squeaky clean and neat. Pro tip: Skip the usual chow mein or chow fun. This is a jasmine rice + family-style mains kind of spot. Trust me, you'll thank me later. (For reference: 3 entrees for 3 people was a lot—we had enough for breakfast the next day. Zero regrets though.) These dishes still live rent-free in my mind: -Mongolian Beef -Basil Eggplant -Pot Stickers -Fried Calamari -General Tso's Chicken -Eggplant with Spicy Garlic Sauce If it’s your first time, order eggplant menu. You'll regret every day you spent not knowing it existed.

Hing Lung Company, also known as Go Duck Yourself, is a lively take-out spot renowned for its succulent roast duck and pork dishes, as well as flavorful fried rice and noodles. The eatery's signature roasted ducks hanging in the Stockton Street window are a familiar sight. In addition to their popular barbecued meats like honey glazed chicken and crispy-skinned pork, the menu features classic Cantonese favorites such as honey-glazed spare ribs and roasted pork belly.
Best char siu (barbecue pork) and roasted duck in SF! We got half duck and half pound of char siu and made noodles with them! Love how lean yet tender and flavourful the meat is. Staff were super helpful and friendly! Would definitely go back!

Important Update: This restaurant has undergone a complete transformation. It is no longer a casual neighborhood eatery but now operates as a fine-dining establishment. Prices have significantly increased— for example, a takeout duck now costs $70, more than twice the average price elsewhere. Be sure to check the updated menu before visiting, as older photos no longer reflect the current dining experience. I’ve attached the new menu for reference.

All over social media, people are saying this place has THE BEST roast duck in the country! So I had to check it out for myself.... I got half a duck and this was plenty for my boyfriend and I to share. If I'm being picky, the duck was on the salty side. However, it's very flavorful and savory. Not very sweet like other places. The duck pieces didn't have a ton of meat on them, but the pieces that had more meat were pretty juicy. Overall, not the best duck I've had - but definitely good quality! I'd recommend it to those visiting SF Chinatown.

Ok, this place actually lived up to its reputation for tasty Hong Kong Style BBQ. Too many places are rated by foodies and most have no idea what good Chinese food is supposed to be. This BBQ meats are pretty close to what I used to get when lived in Hong Kong. 👍👍 Wish it’s a little cleaner and less hole in the wall. Get the char siu and roasted pork belly.

Best Roast Duck I’ve had in the city! It tastes even better knowing no MSG is used! I got the Half Roast Duck over Rice with Bok Choy plate. Au Jus and Plum Sauce included! That Plum sauce is heavenly! It runs about $20 (in person) but it’s worth it.

Inflation sucks! Bought 3 meat rice for 23 bucks. Cost only $13 two years ago. That's 10 bucks increase! Ordered pork belly, Roast duck and char siew. Came with rice and veggie and 4 sauces. Roast duck was good. Char siew was yums. But for USD23 bucks......a bit pricey... Maybe just roast duck or 2 meat rice next time...can forgo the pork belly. Maybe Hing Lung should put up the prices for 1 meat, 2 meat and 3 meat rice next time, like they used to do. Just a suggestion.

I almost missed the best food in China town. We came for Chinese New Year. One weekend is not enough time to enjoy all the food and festivities. After waiting in that long line for Good Mong Kok Bakery. I did not have time to go here but something turned me around. I’m so thankful I had the chance to try such delicious food! The flavors are outstanding. The best food I had all weekend. Probably the best meal I’ve had since leaving Okinawa. This is a great meal to grab before the ferry too. I was in such a rush to get back to my hotel, grab bags and run to the ferry. I didn’t get a bite until two hours later. Cold food doesn’t ever taste this good! Again the flavor of the pork belly, veggies and rice were so delicious. I’m not sure what sauce I got (but it didn’t need it. Everything was umi) brought a whole new flavor to this dish. It kept getting more delicious. I really appreciate the younger brother recommending the pork belly he just brought out. I love Okinawian pork belly (which is a completely different way of cooking and flavors than this) so it sounded great to me. Now I want to go back and try all of their food 🤤 Wishing them an amazing New Year and lots of well deserved success. Tip-if you have kids, there is an incredible park close by to have a picnic at. Willie Woo Woo Wong playground. Also don’t forget to stop at some of the great Chinese Museums in Chinatown.

Dim sum restaurant
Hakkasan San Francisco is an upscale Chinese restaurant known for its Cantonese specialties and chic ambiance. The menu offers a diverse range of dishes, from traditional dim sum to grilled sea bass, accompanied by craft cocktails. The restaurant's hip lounge and attentive service create a fine dining experience. While some find the prices high, others appreciate the delicious food and elegant atmosphere. Highlights include the vegetarian dim sum, tender sea bass, and flavorful short ribs, although some diners found certain dishes less impressive.
Lovely high class dim sum and dinner plates. Vegetarian dim sum was delicious. Sea bass was incredible. So tender and flavorful. Short ribs also very flavorful. Only wouldn’t recommend the pumpkin duck item. Pumpkin outside was too thick and cakey.

A very hip space with a large bar area. Our server was very attentive and helpful in helping us decide between several dishes. The dim sum is an absolute must and I think they’re the best I’ve ever had. Both dishes we had after the dim sum: snapper and shrimp were great. Shrimp were very large and cooked great. The mushrooms in the snapper were nice, lots of different varieties- so good!

Food was delicious and service was great, but definitely over-priced. Maybe spend less on fancy napkins in the bathroom and all the employees walking around constantly refilling water to help lower the cost? Happy we went, buy going to be hard to justify spending that much on a dinner again for a long time!

I have always loved this place, but I save it for special occasions. I have been numerous times but my favorite was when I went after my graduation. My parents were visiting from out of the country and I wanted to go to one of my favorite restaurants in the city. We made a reservation and so the table was ready as soon as we got there. The hostess was delightful and escorted us to our table. The ambiance of the restaurant is great you have two semi-enclosed seating areas and a bar in the middle of the room. We sat towards the right but both seating areas looked fine. We promptly ordered our food and it came out in no time. My favorite dishes here are the vegetable dumpling platter and the mushroom noodles. I may or may not dream about them sometime :P but that was not all we ordered we ordered a lot of food mainly because the helpings are quite small. for dessert, I love their macarons I would recommend this place for sure.

Food was overall tasty but definitely overpriced. The duck crispy roll meat was super dry and sauce was too sweet. The crispy part was on point though. The dim sum pieces were delicious but was overpriced for what they are. Crispy salt and pepper squid had too much dough though seasoning was yummy.

Good place to have Chinese style food with friends. Perfect seafood meals here. Service is great but everything takes longer than expected. Usually need to spend 2 hours here. There is a SF mandatory fee around $10. Table can be reserved online.

Delicious! The service was wonderful and the food was good. I feel that Hakkasan is a place that's more centered around the experience, and less about the food itself. The restaurant is exquisitely decorated, and the large full bar in the center is beautiful to look at. There's certainly a few dishes that will knock your socks off! The star of the show, in my opinion, was saved for last with the black sesame seed and chocolate dumplings. If you visit, you absolutely must try one of their desserts! We got the pork belly clay pot and sea bass for lunch. Both were good, but only get the pork belly if your don't mind fatty meat! It was a very nice experience and we'll definitely visit again!

Sichuan restaurant
Mr Szechuan, an excellent Chinese eatery in the city, offers a variety of delectable dishes like fried rice and fruit tea. This consistent restaurant serves a customizable little hot pot, perfectly suitable for satisfying cravings without excessive portions. The hot pot includes six toppings of your choice. Don't miss out on their tasty sides such as stir-fry pea shoots and eggplant string beans; they are highly recommended.
One of my favorite spots for Sichuan food. I come here several times a month when I’m craving mala dry pot. Their super dry pot is my favorite and the portions are big enough for two. Their boiled fish is also really tasty. Perfect numbing spice flavor. Service is fast and friendly. Another plus - this place is open late until 1AM!
Elaine L — Google review
We came here late and hungry after a concert and were super pleased with both the service and the quality and flavor of the food. We ordered Ma Po Tofu which was perfectly spiced and left a tingle on the tongue. The General Tso's chicken was divine. The dry string beans were my favorite and were so flavorful. Alvin the server couldn't have been nicer. He was hustling all night.
Cari S — Google review
The dry pot was very good. Hot & Spicy has a great balance between the numbness and spice. Seems like high quality ingredients, great flavor and cooked well. Overall the food was awesome. The service however was lacking, despite being the only group in the restaurant. For that reason I'll have to drop it to a 4 but I will surely recommend this place still.

Marvelous staff. Very considerate. VERY very good food. Only took pictures of house fried rice, but got popcorn chicken, hot and sour soup, chive dumplings, cucumber salad, and tomato and egg soup

Absolutely loved this place. Started with the chili wontons which were excellent, and then got the Sichuan dry pot which was incredible. Very generous portions for price, and the sauce was so damn good. Staff was super friendly, and the food came out quick! Easy five stars.

My regular spot! The food is delicious and the spice is authentic. The owner provides excellent, friendly service. Highly recommend!

This place is amazing. The boiled fish is really good. Highly recommended the spicy crispy bones and spicy chicken Wings is not that authentic, but still really good
Binhao Y — Google review
Didn’t have time to take any photos because we were too busy eating. Loved this place. First time ever trying szechuan food. Got the cucumber salad, dumplings in chili oil, salt and pepper fish and the Szechuan beef. I say dumplings in chili oil, but really we kinda put the chili on everything. Except the beef which already had it. We devoured it. We kept adding more and more chili. Food was amazing and served quickly. The numbing spicy sensation was new and exciting. It was a mellow spice meaning it’d give you burn but it wouldn’t sear your tongue off, meaning you could go for more. And the pro about the low heat meant the flavor of the food was able to really shine without the heat completely overpowering it like with other spicy foods. Anthony Bourdain lists Szechuan food as one of the main ingredients for his hangover cure and after going here I can see why. It really wakes you up. But you don’t have to be hungover to have a reason to go here. It’s open til 1 and we are DEFINITELY going again. Overall total came out to $30 per person. Well worth it in my opinion.

Dumpling restaurant
Yuanbao Jiaozi is a small cafe in San Francisco known for its delicious dumplings and vibrant murals. The restaurant prides itself on serving fresh, handmade northern Chinese-style dumplings with a variety of fillings, such as pork with three flavors and fish/green pepper. The menu also includes salads, starters, and small plates like crunchy shredded pigs ears in chili oil and celery and peanut salad.
Can’t go wrong with their dumplings. So many per order (14), so best to go with a group to try more flavours. We had the pork and cabbage & the shrimp, egg, and chive - would highly recommend both! The beef noodle soup was also great, but ended up being overshadowed by the dumplings.
Shannon G — Google review
Yuanbao Jiaozi is a little unassuming northeastern Chinese style restaurant known for their freshly made dumplings. I'm not sure why they have the two ladies behind a window making dumplings. It seems more of a gimmick. We had the spicy house special noodles $15, cucumber salad $8, beef tendon $11, pork dumplings $12 and lamb dumplings $13. The food was OK. It tasted clean. Service was excellent.
Jeff H — Google review
Yummy dumpling place on Irving St and the prices are extremely affordable for what they offer! I got a beef noodle soup (non-spicy) and it soothed my soul, super delicious and it has that dark but also tender broth. I also tried the Pork and Napa Cabbage dumpling soup and it was light and filling (12 dumplings in the soup). This spot is great for solo-dining and the service is attentive and friendly. Parking in the area is pretty hard so do plan ahead!
Alex O — Google review
This little unassuming restaurant is the real deal for good dumplings and beef noodles soup. Reminds me of comfort foods I can get in Taiwan. Expect a line at popular times. I hate Google reviews overhyping restaurants when most reviewers wouldn’t know good Asian food if it kicked them in the butt. This place is better. I hope I’m not over hyped this place. 😊
Jesse L — Google review
We went there on Sunday, a little after 11:15 AM. There was no line, and we got a table pretty quickly. We ordered the cucumber salad, pickled Chinese cabbage beef noodle soup (spicy), chicken and corn dumplings, and pork, shrimp, chive, and egg dumplings. The cucumber salad was a bit too sour for my taste, and the beef noodle soup was just okay. I really liked the chicken and corn dumplings, while the chive dumplings were decent but not quite to my liking.
Rachel S — Google review
5/5 spot for beef noodle soup also don’t sell yourself short and not get at least an order of the dumplings. My fave is the shrimp/egg/chive dumpling. Be prepared to wait if you come on a busy hour
Ray L — Google review
Marinated beef was surprisingly nice - even though the beef pieces were cold / not hot. I just wish they had a few more options without egg. I’m allergic to egg but most of the soup / regular dimsum options had egg in them.

Vietnamese restaurant
Bodega SF, formerly known as Bodega Bistro, has made a comeback in San Francisco with an upscale ambiance and a focus on Northern Vietnamese cuisine. The restaurant features a stylish interior with wooden accents and offers a lunch menu catering to the downtown crowd, featuring dishes like beef pho and bun cha. Dinner options include signature dishes such as caviar-topped banh khot and braised short rib.
The ambiance is nice and suitable for dates or gatherings with friends. The only downside is that it can be a bit noisy. We enjoyed everything we ordered for dinner, which were elevated versions of traditional Vietnamese dishes: * Banh Beo: Steamed rice cakes that were soft and chewy, topped with fresh and sweet Hokkaido uni (sea urchin) and dried shrimp. * Nom: A green papaya salad with beef jerky, which added a nice layer of flavor. * Bun Cha: Braised pork belly with a slightly sweet and very savory flavor. Eating it wrapped in lettuce cuts through the richness. * Banh Cuon: Similar to rice noodle rolls, with a generous amount of filling. * Beef Pho: This is an off-menu item, but you can order it separately. It's a large bowl for $9. The portions were larger than we expected.

This restaurant is quite fancy in the town. The food here is really good and presented in a very fancy manner. You might find it a little bit pricey but the portion sizes are quite large and it’s a good experience if you go with your friends or your workmates. I personally liked the lamb chops a lot, but everything is really good and has a very unique take on Vietnamese food.
Deepayan B — Google review
Bodega SF is hands down one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I’ve experienced in the Bay Area. The moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels vibrant yet relaxed — warm lighting, modern décor, and an energy that strikes the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable. It’s the kind of place where every detail feels intentional, from the presentation to the music selection. The food absolutely exceeded expectations. The Bún Chả Hà Nội was the standout — beautifully grilled pork with that perfect smoky char, paired with fresh herbs and vermicelli noodles that brought all the flavors together. It was so good I ended up ordering another portion to go! Every dish felt thoughtfully executed, from the oysters topped with roe to the beef carpaccio — each bite layered with balance and depth. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the pacing of the meal made it easy to enjoy every dish at its best. You can tell the kitchen puts a lot of pride into both authenticity and presentation. Bodega SF nails what an elevated Vietnamese dining experience should be: familiar comfort food elevated with precision and creativity. This is easily a place I’ll keep coming back to — and one I’d recommend to anyone who appreciates exceptional food and atmosphere done right. Additionally, there’s close by parking on mason its $25.

From the moment you walk in, you know it's going to be special! The ambiance is sleek, modern, and so nice. Highly recommend to make a reservation to avoid taking a chance. The staffs are all so friendly and attentive, which is always appreciated. Now, let's talk about their drinks - love the use of Asian inspired flavors like pandan, mango, Jasmine, chrysanthemum, etc. All of their drinks are so good but my favorite was Mango OT. You wouldn't be able to tell it's alcoholic because it's just that tasty. The Flaming Lotus came with a little fire show, which actually added a really nice scent to the overall drink - also so delicious! Their food is top notch so yes, it may seem over priced but I find it so worth it. The beef carpaccio has such a great crunch and flavor that you'll be wanting more. Their truffle crab fried rice had huge chunks of truffle and the masago they add to the fried rice is such a nice touch for the popping texture and ocean flavor to the dish. Will be back again soon!

We visited this restaurant based on a friend’s recommendation. The food was tasty, the atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, and most of the staff were kind and attentive. Unfortunately, our evening was ruined by the host, Bakie. From the moment we walked in, she greeted us with an unfriendly expression and seated us in a hidden corner with no warmth at all. Throughout the night, we saw her walking around the restaurant smiling and chatting with other tables, but with us she kept a cold, unwelcoming attitude. We did nothing to deserve such treatment, and it made us feel singled out and uncomfortable. We truly hope the owner takes action to improve this part of the service. It’s a shame, because this could have been a 5-star experience, but the host’s behavior forced us to take away 3 stars.

Disappointed. Heard of the good reviews but our experience was not good. We came on a weekday for lunch. Of course no reservations. We were led to a table that is small and closest to the restroom while almost all the tables were empty. The entire restaurant only had two tables working including ours for the majority of our dinning period. The rice roll with mushrooms was good but the beef pho was unexpectedly terrible. Meat was given generously but doesn’t taste well/ fresh - it was hard to chew and had this weird taste that usually goes with stale food. It’s hard to believe a Vietnamese restaurant cannot get the pho right. Might be the worst I have tried so far. Alongside that, we have been waiiiiiting all the time. Waited 30mins ish for the pho to come and waited 30mins for the check. We tried to make eye contact but they won’t look at you. Not every friendly to working people who just want to get a quick lunch and go. Won’t come back again given the food, service and location….

Good food, no frills. I had the pork chop with garlic noodles. Great flavor and well balanced overall. The noodles were a touch salty but still really good. Service was efficient. I was dining solo for lunch, so I appreciated the efficiency.

Service is contrast with the atmosphere because the host man at front on lunch shift. We arrive at 2pm and the restaurant is not busy. He is unwelcome and slow action by keep us waiting for a table and take the order. He never comes to check that we get all of order or cutlery. We spent $125 and he doesn’t deserve to share our tip with other staff. We will skip this restaurant if he still in-charge of FOH

Dalida is a newly opened restaurant in the Presidio, run by a talented husband-and-wife chef team with experience from renowned kitchens. The ambiance is elegant yet relaxed, suitable for various occasions. The menu offers creative and comforting dishes influenced by North African, Persian, Greek, Turkish, and other Ottoman Empire flavors. Visitors have praised the lovely location and delicious food. The restaurant's attentive service impressed even discerning diners. Guests particularly enjoyed the well-selected wine list and diverse cocktail options.
After hosting my wedding reception at Dalida in July 2025, I can confidently say that this is my favorite restaurant on earth. We had dined here several times before and knew the combination of incredible food, ambiance, location, and hospitality would make it the perfect place for such a momentous event in our lives and the team at Dalida went way above our expectations. It’s impossible to capture all the positive things to say about the experience but we couldn’t be happier. The talented chefs, bartenders, and event staff were a joy to work with. Front of house treated all our guests with care and attention. Everyone was blown away by the food and drink telling us it was the best they’ve ever had at a wedding. The chefs worked with our budget and created an unforgettable menu, with so many thoughtful touches and went above and beyond creating a meal that accommodated all our guests and various dietary restrictions. We can’t wait to come back over and over again as this restaurant will always be a special place for us. Special thank you to Morgan, Jerry, Nayeli, Chef Sayat, Chef Laura, and all the amazing staff on the night of. If you’re thinking of doing a private event here, you will be so glad you did. We are so fortunate in SF to have places like this, support your local restaurants!

This restaurant is a true culinary gem and easily one of the best Mediterranean experiences in the city. Its fantastic location offers a tranquil escape from the usual hustle and bustle, a feeling complemented by the seamless and excellent service. The menu is a delight. The watermelon and halloumi salad was a testament to fresh ingredients, proving to be incredibly succulent. The skewers were expertly seasoned and melt-in-your-mouth tender, served alongside perfect lavash. To cap off a flawless meal, the dessert was wonderfully decadent. For anyone in the city, this is an absolute must visit.

Turkish cuisine but varied/mixed with different spices and flavors. Highly recommending breaking bread, artichoke, kayseri manti, cop sis skewer for appetizers. The meat choices are really good; especially slowly cooked lamb shoulder (keshkek is fantastic). Really good ambience, good service and good drink options. Price/performance is also great. Some notes: the borek (wish they had more cheese flavor), manti (got a little bit too much of the tomato paste taste in the sauce) and artichoke (would reduce the orange flavor a little bit). Highly recommended place!

Dalida for me is definitely the best restaurant in the Bay Area. I have had dinner and brunch there more than 10 times and the experience has always been impecable: the food, the staff, the ambiance… everything is always on point. Menu has changed a bit with time, but with every new dish I try I just get a reassurance on why this place is still my favorite. Don’t leave without trying the breaking bread, that fluffy pita is to die for 🤤

Beautiful restaurant with great dishes. We opted for the chefs tasting menu which had some delicious dishes but didn’t have a lot of the dishes that the restaurant seems to be known for (with the exception of baking bread). They only brought out one entree, and it was their pork dish. It was good but I wish they at least allowed us to try another one of their mains. Didn’t feel like a good representation of the restaurants best. The chefs counter was fun to sit at, I always enjoy watching the chefs work their magic

An awesome restaurant and bar with an authentic yet modern Mediterranean vibe. The foods and drinks are just amazing. Especially the wild pistachio coffee, which I'll never forget and can't wait to try again! The staff is also super friendly and professional.

Most of the food is excellent. Came for brunch. The octopus and sujuk and the scallops were amazing and the big hits of the meal. We loved the non caffeinated pistachio coffee (wish they offered it in a larger cup). The pancake (su berek) was underwhelming and the kebab was disappointing. Dining room was great, and spacious and airy. But the the bathrooms were gross. Went twice and it was smelly and gross.

We had a great dinner date here at Dalida. The location is pretty great, inside the Presidio next to one of my favorite parks in the city. Our reservation was at five when they first open and it was busy right away. All the food dishes we ordered were very tasty and didn’t leave any food for leftovers. My least favorite part of the meal was the bourbon drink I ordered, which was mostly ice and mint leaves for $20. Id love to come back again and try more of their menu options.

Chinese restaurant
Hon’s Wun-Tun House, a long-standing fixture in Chinatown for over 40 years, is known for its delicious wonton noodle soup. The simple and tiny interior with utilitarian brick-colored tile and curt service doesn't deter patrons who come for the life-giving soup. The restaurant offers a lively casual dining experience with various congee, soup, appetizers, buns, dumplings, rice, vegetables, and drinks.
I have a couple of buddies with whom I've formed a casual foodie friendship, sort of like a book club, where we check out different places on a regular basis just for fun. We went with our Asian culture by visiting Chinatown, both the oldest and largest Chinatown in North America. Gosh, it's been years since I've been there and it felt vibrant and fantastical. The last time I went to Hon's Wun-Tun was at their original location, several years ago at a hole-in-the-wall joint and I am blown away by their new, upscale location. Man, what a treat! Anyway, I present more pictures than I ordinarily do because this restaurant is just photogenic, starting with a window out front where you can observe them making fresh handmade wun-tun for the public to watch the production.
Ray S — Google review
It's noisy. The food came out fast and you can see the kitchen. Food tasted good. The soup broth is fish base so if you don't like fish don't get it. Dumplings are good with the hot oil sauce.

I ordered the pork and chive dumplings and the beef chow fun. I could tell the dumplings were made from scratch including the wrappers and they were pretty good. The chow fun was average and a bit greasy. It was super loud inside the restaurant and they seemed to be a bit understaffed. There was one main server for the entire floor and we had to wait a long time to get our check and a box.

Excellent place for traditional wonton noodle soup. Flavor profile is excellent. Noodles were nice and springy and just the right size. The creme de la creme is the wonton - excellent mix of meat, shrimp and wholesome goodness. Bravo!!!

The food here was decent, but nothing outstanding in my opinion. We enjoyed the spicy wontons, but I’ve had better wontons elsewhere. The service was really great. We got seated quickly, our server was very attentive and efficient, and the restaurant seemed clean (until I went to the bathroom).

Hon’s Wun Tun House is an absolute gem in San Francisco. I tried their beef brisket noodle soup with wontons it is rich, flavorful, and comforting. The dumplings are handmade right in front of the restaurant, and you can watch the process through the glass, super fresh and incredibly tasty. We also tried the curried fish balls, which were good, but the soup dumplings stole the show, absolutely excellent! I still can’t get over how good they were. But the real highlight for me was their Hong Kong iced tea. It was so good that I ended up coming back every single day during my 6-day stay in San Francisco. Truly top-class. Service is quick and efficient. While the staff don’t speak perfect English, communication is smooth enough, and they’re attentive and helpful. The place is always busy, which is a great sign of how good their food is. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for authentic flavors and a satisfying meal.

This restaurant is located centrally in San Francisco’s chinatown. While the decor and service are average similar to other type of noodle shop/restaurant in chinatown (usual), their wonton roast pork noodle soup is off the chart fresh with al dente noodle and savory soup! Super impressed by this hole-in-the-wall spot. The cucumber salad was super fresh and flavorful, and the chicken & corn soup dumplings were amazing — you can really taste the quality of the organic chicken, and the wrapper was just the right amount of chewy. I liked it so much I bought 8 bags of frozen dumplings on the spot. Definitely worth checking out. Smaller place so not a ton of seating. Can either get to-go or frozen (which I love, so great to make potstickers at home).

Previous reviews were spot on! Veggie dumplings and chive pancake were delicious...and service was delightful. Very grateful for both when the USD to AUD conversion made the 2 items $48 😫

We went there following the good reviews on Google and definately not were disappointed. Like somebody called it, it is a hole in the wall restaurant in the middle of Chinatown. Two ladies were preparing the dumplings totally fresh right before our eyes. The three different kinds of dumplings we had were amazing. With hundrets of small restaurants in Chinatown this one really sticks out with the quality and taste of the food. We highly reccomend it.

Walking past the window, this place caught my attention cause they were making fresh dumplings for people to watch. Had the pork and cabbage potstickers and chicken and corn dumpling, both were ok and needed more seasoning very bland. Guy that took my order was more concerned about his phone than my order, which he messed up adding item I didn't order. Have me a refund no questions and apologized. Place is small inside not much room to sit and enjoy your food. I probably would not come back or recommend a the are better places in the area.

Fantastic. Really great dumplings, potstickers were great too. Price seems standard for the area. Also love the scallion pancake, but $6 seems steep for the size. I got the Veggie dumplings and potstickers. The guy assured me they were vegan and they did appear to be. Great flavor, but a little inconvenient to eat. The filling falls right out after you take a bite. Also could have used scallion or something for a little green.ccc They made a mistake with the potstickers and brought out chicken ones. They let my wife keep those so we got a free order of those too. Wife said the shrimp dumplings needed more shrimp, and the chicken corn potstickers were very good.

I enjoyed the shrimp and chive dumpling soup, but the pork and cabbage dumplings and pork and sauerkraut potstickers were a bit underwhelming. In general, the texture of the pork was unsatisfying, and the meat wasn't as fragrant as I expect from handmade dumplings. The filling wasn't that juicy, and the sauerkraut wasn't very flavorful or sour. Overall, the food was okay, but not extraordinary. The price and speed if servig were great.

Bubble tea store

Soft drinks shop
The Sharetea shop at the Metreon in San Francisco is a beautiful place to visit, with its different layers of tea and bubble teas mixed with cream. Although the tea itself doesn't have a lot of flavor, the various flavors mixed together make for an enjoyable and refreshing drink. The only downside is that some of the layers are less vibrant than they appear in pictures.
I find this to be a consistently good tea drink place. If you order less sweet + less ice it will come out that way. They have a lot of flavor options, from basic to more adventurous. One thing I especially like about the sharetea is they have lychee chunks as an add-in, which I prefer to boba. Note: there is only one large size available, it is ideal for sharing. It's kind of too much for one person.

Update: Not clean!!!! Be aware of food poisoning!!!!! After an hour of getting my boba, I started having very bad stomachache and vomited the whole boba out! Be aware!!! Not clean!!! Everyone is charged 0.25 for a pickup bag but no one ever gets a bag with their order. Doesnt taste great compared to other boba in the area.

Half decent boba tea spot in the lobby of the Metreon building. A fine place to grab a drink before or after a movie, but certainly nothing to write home about. ½ sweetness was the right amount of sweetness.

I love going to the city to watch Wrestling and I have been seen @shareteametreon on my Instagram feed and I wanted to check it out. I got iced blended coffee with creama and ice cream. It was so sweet and amazing. The ice cream on top is so elevating. I love how the fresh fruit tasted in the Peach tea with kiwi fruit. I love a good mojito and the lime Mojito did not disappoint. It was sweet and tangy, which was perfect for me. The last drink I got was the Matcha red bean milk tea with mini pearls and it was so good. I usually enjoy red beans in Vietnamese Che but I been getting it in Boba and it so good. I can understand why this drink is so popular! All in all everything was great and I would be coming back to try more drinks from @shareteametreon . 📍ShareTea in the Metreon in San Francisco, CA.
Sean N — Google review
This is a 3.5 star rating. More sweet has the same sweetness as extremely sweet, and less sweet. The Happy Family Large, came to $6.00 with tax, tip, and mandate, and was a sour combination of big pearls, small pearls, hard lychee cubes, soggy red beans, and.....the kitchen sink. The actual milk tea was as bland, and forgettable as the local Evening News. Yet, there was, and always seems to be a line, due to the perfect location of being on the way to AMC movie theater, at the food court. There's so many better bubble tea stores out there, I would skip Sharetea. $$$ out of $$$$$. No dedicated bathroom. Garage parking nearby. I would not recommend Sharetea.
A A — Google review
The Metreon's Sharetea is pretty nice. The drinks are cool and refreshing with a beautiful aesthetic. I love the different layers in this drink. It also doesn't make you pee too badly so you can definitely watch a movie right after it. However, I was hoping that the tea itself had a bit more flavor. Whether it was more tea-y or more fruity, anything would make it even better. Also, the green kiwi layer on the bottom is less vibrant than the image presents itself as.

I walked by this restaurant a few times before and never thought to try it until I learned that my BIL’s sister drives from Castro Valley to eat here. It must be that good, so I finally gave it a try. Everything I ordered was delicious and flavorful, especially the Pork Belly with Shrimp Paste, Pan Fried Tofu, and Half Steamed Chicken. The restaurant is clean and has a lot of photos to help with ordering. I would definitely go back to try the Roasted Squab, which I didn't get to order because you have to call in and request an hour in advance.

It’s nice little spot in the outer Richmond for some Chinese/hakka food. Greatly suited for small and large parties sharing family style. The food here reminded me of childhood meals i would have with my family. I got the stirred noddles which had a lot of wok hay in the dish aka, it was wok fried to perfection. We also got the fried tofu and fish fillet casserole which is always a main stable. I love the mushrooms inside. However I did find it a bit salt. Overall, I love this place and would love to come back.

Food is delicious, literally love everything we get there. The noodle/ chow mein has a very interesting texture, almost like pan fried noodle, which was a very pleasant surprise. Pork belly and stuffed chicken were definitely the highlight of the meal when I visited

Love this place. Accidentally discovered it when I was getting lost around the Golden Gate Bridge and love it. It’s a hidden gem. You can tell it’s family run and they are delightful and attentive. But be careful, there is a similar restaurant nearby, but this one isn’t nearly as packed which is a shame as they have superior food. My order is always the same, potstickers and vermicelli. Wish I lived in the city so I could get it Doordashed or delivered. A majority of the menu is in Mandarin and with very little English, but trust me it is so delicious that you will over look that. Parking is limited. Sometimes I have to walk several blocks to park, but again, it’s worth it.

That good stufffff. This is a good Chinese restaurant if you're in Richmond. It's close to the beach too so you can maybe walk there or just a short drive over. Wasn't very busy on a Saturday 6pm. Food is all really yummy and doesn't take a long time. The serving sizes are pretty big. Definitely good place to share and enjoy family style authentic Chinese food. My parents approve this message. Enjoy!

Food was good with great portion sizes for the money. A lot of food combinations that I’ve never heard of/had before. I’m guessing the chief(s), family, etc may be from Fujian Province, China? Authentic Southern Chinese cuisine. The Bitter Mellon with Catfish is one of the few items I’m familiar with…the other picture is of the Tofu/Pork soup which was also very good. Definitely will be back. Hakka Pride! 😏🙌🏽😉
Patrick — Google review
We walked in on a Tuesday to a mostly empty dining room and man people are really missing out! Authentic Chinese cuisine The pork belly was moist and tender, the lamb stew was spot on, the sweet and saltiness of the black pepper honey short ribs were amazing and the large pea sprouts have the “wok hey” that you need. So much good food at relatively inexpensive prices, come check it out!

Shanghai House Restaurant is a cozy, cash-only spot known for its homestyle Shanghai cuisine. The menu offers a variety of authentic dishes, including Shanghai noodles, XLB, potstickers, and flavorful chicken wings. The restaurant also features lunch deals and generous portions at reasonable prices. While the ambiance may not be the most vibrant, the focus here is on delicious food that's worth every penny.
Great place for homemade dumplings. Their dumplings and fried chicken are top notch. Service takes a while, but worth the wait.

food comes out quickly & hot. Have gotten sheng jian bao a couple times & the meat held together a lot better the second time we came. loved the chicken wings too. cash only but there are plenty of atms on the street
Christopher Y — Google review
The lady owner is very friendly and hard working. All the baos and wontons are homemade handmade, if you want to try authentic Chinese food, with a affordable price, this is the price. Chicken wings are quite big than all the other places I been to, even some famous lined up restaurant is no better than here. Just look at the pictures, this is a MUST TRY PLACE!
JILL J — Google review
I usually order their dry fried chicken wing, XLB, and pan fried dumplings. A little disappointed of the wings and XLB this time. The batter of the wings is too hard, and size is smaller not much meat, sauces is still amazing (Tate's like sweet honey with ginger). XLB skin is too saggy this time, seems like it is over cooked and the meat portion is smaller than it used to be. Pan fried dumpling is juicy inside with thin and crispy skin. Recommend! Saw other people order their beef ball clay pot, pork feet, shrimp, smoked duck, and some noodle dishes...Those all looks good. I may try them next time. The restaurant is small with about 10 small tables. Only one server, and seems like only 2-3 people working in the kitchen. We came here on Sunday 5:10pm, the restaurant is already full, and we were lucky to be seated at the last open table. Waited about 30min for the food. They had many to go orders too. Not sure if the air conditioning is broken in the kitchen, the restaurant got very smoky, and my clothes and hair all smells oily after dinner. Cash only!

Stopped by for the ShengJian Bao with my girlfriend. Owner wasn’t the friendliest at first but definitely warms up to you(maybe because i shared that i lived in Shanghai for a while). Overall food was authentic and delicious, has two menus, one more authentic and another cater to American customers. You will definitely find what you are looking for here. Located in a busy street with lots of restaurant options, not the most vibrant and good looking one but you will get your money worth for the food. Thanks!

Note: Cash only. Shanghai house restaurant is a hidden gem near golden gate park (Spreckels lake). The restaurant is tiny (fit 8 tables) and easily to miss. I can understand why everyone complain about the service, but bare with it the food is definitely worth it. The wait for food was a bit longer than any other Chinese places (waited for 30 mins). The fried dumplings are excellent and totally recommended.
Mei — Google review
I’m almost unwilling to write a good review of this place out of fear that they’ll get really popular and I won’t be able to get a table anymore. That being said, though, this place is legitimately delicious. Dumplings for days.
Rose L — Google review
This place once got shut down by health officials but I keep coming back and so do other customers. The only service there is the boss lady who can come off as rude to non-Asians but I find her just fine. Sometimes the quality is inconsistent depending on the month but it comes back around later on. They are most famous for their Shanghai soup dumplings. Compared to other dumpling places, the meat is fattier which makes it so good. The soup inside is also tasty. The only caveat is that the skin rips too easily.

If you're planning a waterfront adventure in San Francisco, kick off your journey at Union Square by hopping on the Powell/Hyde Cable Car line. This thrilling ride offers an exhilarating experience as you glide towards the bay, with its unique mechanism of wooden blocks gripping a steel cable beneath the streets. Once you've soaked in those stunning views, consider stopping by Lazy Susan for a delightful meal.
A gluten free haven! Most items are GF as-is (please know that the restaurantis not 100% gluten free). I've been here multiple times now; the food is always flavorful and piping hot. My favorite has been the orange chicken, and the sesame and General Tso's is delicious too. My non-GF guests did not know it was GF either! My new favorite spot in the city
Heather C — Google review
I enjoyed the food that I got delivered from here. This place makes an alright Sesame and General Tso’s Chicken, though the Sesame Chicken is very ginger-y
Matt B — Google review
I’m not too sure about this place. Maybe I ordered the wrong dishes. I tried the chowmein and didn’t really enjoy it. I wanted some more bold flavors. The pot stickers were good though!

Such a delicious find!! The chicken was amazingly crispy with perfect sauce. And the beans are to die for! Crispy saucy flavorful. I can’t wait to be back!

Where’s the beef?!? The food was okay, but they gave me a whole onion and a little amount of beef. Not worth it to me if you are going to cut corners! Overall the service was really great and they checked in throughout my meal, but not an ideal restaurant to dine in because they only have 4 tables. The food was freshly made, but they cut back on the meat and gave me a lot of onion. I didn’t eat half of it because it was onions. Maybe the vegetarian opts are better. I saw another review that they also didn’t give them good meat portions. Avoid and go to another place that gives you a decent portion of protein!

Really good Orange Chicken. The crispy spring rolls were way overpriced and not good at $9 ~ overall a great spot

We did a small catering order for Teacher Appreciation Week - two appetizer platters and one vegetarian chow mein. Tiffany was amazing to work with, very responsive and accommodating. The Lazy Susan food was the highlight of our spread that day and went the fastest! They gave us fortune cookies and plenty of sauces to go with, and even gave us little food labels. We're super grateful to the whole team for their help with our order and hope to work with them again for future events (not to mention future family dinners!)
Abby B — Google review
A great attempt at American Chinese food, especially in west portal but needs improvement in my opinion. Food is a bit salty, and they clearly skimped on the beef for the black pepper beef. For example, it was 95% bell peppers, 5% beef. Sauces had potential, so they just need to work on their ratios. Mapo Tofu was decent

Cafe
Bubble tea store
Coffee shop
If you're looking for a unique beverage experience, 7 Leaves Cafe is definitely worth a visit. On a recent trip, I found the place buzzing with activity, especially on Mother's Day. After quite some time since my last visit in 2019, I was eager to indulge in their Mung Bean Milk Tea and decided to brave the line. The staff were impressively efficient, ensuring that orders flowed smoothly despite the crowd.
Staff are attentive, polite and nice. I think some of them are just like quiet/shy Asians, but mistaken as rude in some reviews. I like their menus, both drinks and bakery items, with variety. Drinks are interesting, not just like a typical boba tea shop. I like the ube croissants and cookies, pandan mochi, and the jasmine tea sea foam a lot. The store is spacious, nice and clean. My drinks were filled and there wasn’t excessive ice like in some reviews. I’m surprised that the average review here is low. Maybe they have improved a lot since opening. I prefer my MILK teas can be made less sweet per Asian standard :)
Minh N — Google review
I’ve been ordering from here on a monthly basis since I drive by the store almost everyday. However, this is what I get today when I got no ice for my house coffee. It’s about 70% full. Is this how you do business? Why can’t you just charge extra for the no ice option? How about charging $10 instead $8 for my drink (talk about inflation)? Or using the budget for sugar on more coffee since the easy sweet option is equivalent to 125% sweetness from other shops? Very disappointing!
SamSam H — Google review
I ordered the Vietnamese coffee and there was way too much ice. Over half of the cup was filled with ice so you get less coffee. If you visit the store, I suggest you ask for less ice. On a side note, the gal who took my order was very nice and friendly.
Angel M — Google review
This place honestly makes me annoyed. Ever since they opened, they never get my order right. And they got the nerve to ask for a tip when ordering at the register. Why would I tip you when I know you’re going to mess up my order. Opening day, I ordered a mint sereno, they made me a matcha drink. Guys at the register assume you don’t have the app. Then when you wanna scan it, they say too late. So now I just do mobile orders. Ordered a drink with no ice because I planned to drink it later. It was full of ice. I also ordered it with extra shots of espresso. Bet they didn’t even do that either. Workers can’t read a label on a cup, I have no remorse for this review. I never have this problem at any of the other locations.
MJ A — Google review
Just came from here, the tea is very good it tastes like they use a sweet cream in it! Also I like that the boba isn't hot, because at other places the ice melts immediately so it's just watered down tea :p. But the boba here was cold and had the right amount of chewyness. Also the service was good as well. Overall very good 🩷!
Aya D — Google review
I came here maybe two or three weeks after their grand opening? I liked their mung bean milk tea that I had in Cupertino. So when I learned they opened a new location next to H Mart SF I was very thrilled. However it was kind of disappointing especially their macarons. When I first went in, I was confused because the sign at the line said mobile pick up with the QR code, so I downloaded the app. But because this location was new, it didn't offer that option yet. Second thing I noticed was that the store was super "hot", I don't know if they forgot to turn on the AC or the air vent. - Service, the cashier didn't seem that friendly or welcoming. I asked her if they take tips because the POS didn't ask me to add tips, but she didn't answer my question. Then I looked down and there's a tip "hole" in the counter. Anyway, I didn't have cash. The guy who served out orders was more friendly but he gave me the wrong thing but maybe that was the kitchen's fault. He let me kept it tho 6.5/10 - Macarons, I had very high expectations but what a disappointment 😔. I ordered 6 flavors so they were packed in a box. I ordered every flavors except the chocolate and vanilla. Before I leave, I checked the box, good thing I did because they gave me vanilla instead of the earl grey. However I wish they didn't serve me the earl grey at all!!! I don't know if it wasn't defrosted properly or something but it was just a mushed up biscuit. It was so flaky and disgusting that it was even worse than the worst macaron I ever had. One of the flavors was very hard which means it's not fresh 4/10, the earl grey itself is 0/10 IF ITS NOT READY THEN DON'T SERVE IT TO YOUR CUSTOMER! - Drinks: -Thai ice tea not the best I had but not bad, in the photo it wasn't mixed but it was served mixed to me 7/10 -Sea cream jasmine tea was great, I just wished they do offer a no sugar option 7.5/10 - Strawberry hibiscus, just ordinary 7/10 Overall, this location left me a not so good first impression, untill they improve, I'll go to other locations instead even if they're very far away.
Travel G — Google review
Asked for 50% sugar and they ignored the request. Drink arrived so sweet it was undrinkable and tasted artificial. Tried to get them to remake it and the staff barely responded. I wasted $8 and got attitude. Very disappointing and not worth the price.
Henry S — Google review
I was expecting a crazy long line at 7 Leaves when they first open but nope, the back kitchen had more than enough staff to deal with all our orders so kudos to them for being prepared! 7 Leaves is rooted in Vietnamese culture and you will find a lot of Viet-inspired drinks here, including Vietnamese coffee and mung beans drink. It is not a traditional boba house with a million toppings but everything you try here will be tasty. Highly recommend the drinks with sea cream. Plenty of parking as this is in the same area as HMart, so there is a dedicated parking lot. However the grocery shopping rush on weekends can be hard on finding a parking spot.

Dim sum restaurant
All You Can Eat Dim-Sum offers a wide variety of dim sum, with their shrimp dumplings being particularly popular. Despite the potential language barrier, the affordable price of 3 pieces for $1.50 makes it worth the visit. The service is described as friendly and attentive, with the owners going out of their way to ensure a pleasant experience. Customers have also noted receiving additional snacks and tea while waiting for their food.
Food was hot and tasty and the owner was so friendly! I’d come back
Alec R — Google review
FOOD FIT ONLY FOR BAITING RATS. You could not pay me to eat here again. The quality of food that the owner served to us was blatantly disrespectful. You could pick through the trash bins in Chinatown and reheat it for the same experience. The food quality is VERY low. The buffet experience consistents of the owner bringing out paper plates, and plastic to-go packages of small amounts of random reheated/refried old food and insisting "you do not worry, no time limit, no food limit" then disappearing for a long time. Worst spring rolls I have ever had. Had beans, carrots and lima beans in them. See the attached picture. Fried "handmade" noodles were just random box noodles, also were burnt. We purchased cold dumplings from a street vendor that were better than anything this place had to offer. The dumplings he served looked like someone else's left overs. As we were eating a local driving by yelled out his window and warned us, "do not eat here, you will hurt" Do not waste your money or risk your health here!
Brett T — Google review
I usually don’t like to leave negative reviews, especially for businesses run by elderly owners. However, I also don’t want other customers to be misled — some people might expect the food to be good and end up ordering a large amount and paying quite a lot. This was my first time coming here because I thought it might be an old, traditional place with delicious food. But after ordering and waiting, I was really confused when the food was served. The dishes looked nothing like the photos on the menu — I couldn’t even tell what some of them were. The taste was bland and reminded me of leftover food that had just been reheated. Before ordering, they told me everything was freshly made, which turned out to be untrue — my friend felt the same way. I couldn’t even finish my food, and some dishes made me nauseous. I actually threw up after eating one of them because the taste was so bad. I’ve never regretted spending money this much before. Im so dissapointed! :(
Jane T — Google review
Leftovers served. 😭😭😭 I really wanted to love this place and the old man. But I did not get food I ordered. He also kept serving random leftovers in plastic boxes. The shumai was all flour, no meat. The noodles were recooked and stirred in oil: it was definitely someone else’s leftovers 😭😭😭
Jane S — Google review
A disaster. The FDA needs to investigate this place. Old, stale baked goods and just not a great environment. Sometimes, hole in the wall places have a certain charm of genuineness but this place just doesn't have a bar for food quality.
Ritik S — Google review
The food was great and the owners were friendly. However, they must have messed up our order because they came after 30 minutes again confirming what we had ordered, which is puzzling because we were two of only four customers at the place that evening. The food took very long to be served, but I think the owner felt bad and kept on bringing us snacks and tea to help pass the time.
Joschua M — Google review
Great food, we tried new dishes and they did not disappoint at all, they were delicious!

Cambridge Mansion is a delightful dining destination that offers an inviting atmosphere and attentive service. Guests often rave about the cleanliness of the establishment, making it a pleasant spot to enjoy a meal. While some may debate its culinary classification, it's not uncommon to find exquisite dishes like Peking duck on the menu, reminiscent of upscale eateries in places like the Cambridge Hyatt.
Nice staff. Very clean. Would recommend to a friend

SRO ONLY, not a hotel for visiting SF. For residential living only. Janitorial service and. Maintenance is great however because of the age and past usage of the hotel it appears unkempt but is not truly the case. Some of the front desk staff is great while others are rude and not friendly to least. It depends upon the time of day and who's working if you feel comfortable visiting. Pet friendly and wonderful daytime janitorial service when it comes to pet clean ups .

I wish I could rate it a 0. They treat you like animals if you complain they make your life a living hell. The staff there is so bad they can’t get jobs anywhere else. Very disrespectful no concern for tenant safety. Case management is the biggest joke. I wouldn’t wish this place on my worst enemy

I moved here in August of 17 this place is infested with roaches infested I mean crawling on your bed and on your ceiling on your floor in your clothes. This place is truly the bottom of the barrel. I have been dealing with a roach infestation for close to 4 months and they've done little to nothing to remedy the problem. No one follows through with what they say here. They all yes mam we're going to take care of that they never do. Then you become the bad guy for asking to live like a decent human being with dignity and respect. This place is trash. And the staff leave a lot to be desired. The health department and the new should be consulted about this place and the treatment of people with mental health disabilities. It's sad. Kari D.

Management are lying sacks of excrement. They have been seen buying stolen goods at staff meetings, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. They maintain no standard of living. Elevator always broken, refusal to accommodate people with disabilities due to "budget insufficiency", residents and/or staff forbidden from using the community room, kitchen, or other common areas which is a breach of the lease by management, and the list goes on. Management has shown dedication only at avoiding being in the office, and fomenting the hopelessness and abject despair of residents. "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here!"
