Greek restaurant
Souvla, a popular spot in San Francisco's Hayes Valley since 2014, offers a menu of roasted meat sandwiches and salads. The restaurant's name comes from the Greek word for rotisserie spit, and it specializes in roasting pork, chicken, and lamb to create flavorful pita wraps drizzled with Greek yogurt. In addition to its signature sandwiches, Souvla also serves fresh salads and traditional sides like Greek fries with lemon and mizithra cheese.
Love this restaurant! Very gluten-free friendly. Tasty delicious and filling! Absolutely love the simplicity of the menu and the Greek yogurt for dessert. Food comes out very quickly.

Phenomenal food if you are looking for a healthy and hearty meal. The gyros are delicious and very filling ($17 before tip). If you like savory desserts, definitely try the Greek olive oil and flaky salt frozen yogurt. Very friendly service as well and I’d visit more if I lived around the area.

Brisket bowl is yes!!! They split it for us so we can take it to go and have it on the grass by the painted ladies. Super helpful staff. Fast. Delicious. On the expensive side but worth it! I love the signs too!

This place is absolutely fantastic. The freshness and the quality of the food too. We had the pork salad that me and my girlfriend split, Greek fries with garlic dipping sauce, and for desert we had the Greek yogurt with baklava crumbles. Definitely recommend!

I got the chicken salad delivered, and it was delicious! Unique combination of orange with different onions, greens, and feta cheese that worked well together. No complaints!

I only had the frozen yogurt, so my experience is only based on the frozen yogurt. honestly I didn't like the olive oil and sea salt frozen yogurt, but it's just my own taste preference. if you like salty frozen yogurt, then go for it!!

Food: 5/5 One of my go-to restaurants in San Francisco. Excellent food that tastes fresh. Bathrooms 4/5 Clean, well equipped. Maintains the theme and aesthetic of the restaurant. No paper towels; Dyson air blade for hand drying.

Vegetarian restaurant
Wildseed is a trendy and stylish restaurant offering seasonal vegan cuisine and creative cocktails. With a focus on global flavors, the menu features dishes like cashew ricotta-filled ravioli, harissa-flavored baba ghanoush, and coconut bacon-topped salads. The restaurant has become popular in San Francisco for its diverse plant-based brunch, lunch, and dinner options such as Mexican corn cakes, seasonal pizzas, beet poke, and flaxseed pancakes.
Wildseed in San Francisco has quickly become a gem in the vegan dining scene, and for good reason! As vegans, finding great food can feel like an uphill battle, but Wildseed makes it effortless—and incredibly enjoyable. The moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by Jarod, I believe the manager, who immediately made us feel welcome and accommodated. His enthusiasm and attentiveness set the tone for an incredible experience. Our server, Shadwa, was nothing short of amazing. From the start, she checked in on our preferences and any allergies we might have, ensuring every dish was tailored perfectly for us. Her friendliness and genuine care made our meal feel special—and her warm smile never left her face throughout the entire experience. What truly impressed us, though, was when Shadwa requested a slight modification to one of our dishes on our behalf. It’s clear that Wildseed’s team is all about going above and beyond to make sure their guests feel celebrated and cared for. The food? Simply put: fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor. Every bite felt like a celebration of plant-based cuisine, with dishes that were as visually stunning as they were delicious. The ambiance was equally impressive—modern, clean, and inviting, with a lively energy that made us feel right at home. From start to finish, Wildseed exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of outstanding service, nutritious and flavorful food, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere makes this place a top contender for the best vegan restaurants in SF. If you’re in the area and (especially if you’re vegan), Wildseed is a must-visit. Thank you to Jarod and Shadwa for making our experience so memorable—you truly shine, and we can’t wait to return!

First time on Union Street in years. Still decently vibrant. Decided to treat after my chiropractor session. Lunch time Wednesday not too busy Seat indoors by the window. Heirloom tomato salad with falafel. Tomato and corn in season. Decided for health. Salad was delicious, refreshing, loved the dressing since I'm usually just balsamic at home. Falafel soft inside and crunchy outside was a nice complement. Tomatoes but the spot and corn was sweet though I was spilled by great corn on the cob right off the farm this past weekend. Maybe pizza next time. No extras or drinks despite the available choices. Chocolate beet cake as dessert. Great choice for chocolate lovers. Presentation was a failure but tastes awesome. Second choice would have been peach tart. Only one waiter with server help!! Bartender pitched in at one table. Still decent attention

Amazing food. I went here not knowing it’s a vegan place. As a non vegan I had not tried strictly a vegan cuisine before and was a little apprehensive. However the food was simply amazing. Their Oklahoma smash burger is the best burger I have ever had. Fries so fresh and delicious. Will return soon to try other food. Highly recommend to anyone.

Very busy restaurant, with lots of good food options. But the menu is hit and miss. The artichoke was a mess. The green pizza tasted off on account of eyes smelling fake cheese. The yellow curry was excellent. The whole restaurant has a weird funky cheese smell, which is sad because vegan cheese could be made to not be smelly.
Lukasz Z — Google review
Love this restaurant! This was our first visit during a recent trip to San Francisco. Absolutely wonderful experience at this plant-based gem! Daniel, our server, was top notch, and everything on the menu looked amazing. It was hard to decide what to choose and we are already looking forward to a return visit to try more. Highly recommend the curried cauliflower appetizer as well as the Fall Pie pizza. Heavenly. Ended the meal with the lemon cheesecake, which was very good, but next time I will need to try the chocolate cake. 10/10.

This place wants to turn me into a vegan. The food is so good that I wish I could eat here everyday. My health would be better and my stomach would be happy. I love the green goddess pizza, meze plate and cucumber salad. Their custom cocktails and mocktails are superb too.
Jenny R — Google review
Great vegan food and wine selection - a bit pricey for some dishes and a few odd tastes here and there like the sausage in the paella but overall 8/10 dinner experience and 9/10 brunch experience with great decor and ambiance + stellar service. Highly recommend the spicy curry, corn fritters, mezze and the breakfast sandwich
Jewls R — Google review
Wildseed completely exceeded my expectations — the food was incredible! Every dish was packed with flavor and creativity, showcasing how amazing plant-based cooking can be. The ingredients were fresh, thoughtfully paired, and beautifully presented. The brunch menu is especially impressive — so many options that it was hard to choose just one! The space itself is gorgeous: bright, tropical, and airy with an open layout that feels both relaxed and vibrant. It’s the kind of place where you can linger over brunch and still feel refreshed when you leave. There’s plenty of seating, but it gets very popular (for good reason!), so definitely make a reservation if you’re planning to go during peak hours. If you’re vegan, vegetarian, or just love great food — Wildseed is a must-try in San Francisco. 🌿✨

Nourish Cafe is a bright and airy vegan eatery with two locations in San Francisco. Since 2015, it has been satisfying the city's demand for plant-based fare. The cafe advocates for a healthy, whole foods diet featuring ingredients like whole grains, legumes, nuts, and fruits. Their menu includes an array of salads, sandwiches, toasts, smoothies, wraps and bowls.
This place was great. Service was very quick and it was clean and tidy. They had a clean restroom and there was lots of seating. The staff was very polite and attentive. I thought the menu had a lot of variety and for the city it was a great value. I had the nourish bowl with the vegan beef and would definitely come back and get it again but I’ll be tempted to try something new.

Whew, this food was very tasty and filling! I was super stuffed! I appreciate the patience of the staff. I was hungry and indecisive. Very kind. I wasn't crazy about the cookie I got. It was too thick for my liking, and the flavor was okay. I would eat here again. So many good and healthy options!
Marie H — Google review
Been so annoyed lately with this place. They get orders wrong. I odered a frittata sandwich and a fritatta wrap and got just a salad kind of wrap. The other day I ordered 2 frittata wraps and got sandwices instead. Their prices are not cheap so when you get the wrong order and find out until you get home, This is a problem. I tried calling them but their number is international. So for that reason I lowered their rating. The cookies are awesome. The muffins are scrummy too but I prefer the cookies just bc I have a sweet tooth. The fritatta wrap or sandwich are delish too. However I was pretty mad when I got the toast sampler. The GF bread tasted bitter and didn't pear well with the jam. The chocolate spread was bitter too. The size of the toast was ridiculously small- 3 half slices for $9.50??? That's my only 👎 criticism about this place. Other than that I stick with the cookies, muffins and fritatta wrap.

Quinoa Belgian waffle was delicious: soft, fluffy, nutritious. Great marinated tofu. Loved the açaí bowl and coconut milk macchiato. To top it off, Mr. Dewie’s cashew soft serve swirl—yum! I came here on a Friday and Saturday mornings, got tables easily. Food comes out fast, is fresh and really delicious.
Aleksandra W — Google review
What a great find! We walked to Nourish from our hotel, and it was worth every single step that it took for us to get there and back. We had the 3 cheese grilled sandwich and the Nourish bowl. It was a lot of food with just the two items! It was delicious, fresh, and colourful. The guy at the counter was very helpful and friendly, and the overall establishment was clean and comfortable. We would DEFINITELY go back the next time we find ourselves in San Francisco!
Tori C — Google review
Yummy… with love. I had trouble picking what to eat as I wanted everything. One of the best chocolate chip cookies I had had. The portions are nice sized and the grilled cheeze hit me so good. It was creamy, green, fun and filling. Want to come back for the smoothie bowls and brunch. Love the vibe and the people.
Kevin S — Google review
The vegan tuna and the almond bell pepper sauce are amazing. I tried a lot of their bowls, they were all really tasty :) My go-to is a side salad, and then I add protein or avocado if I’m very hungry, since the regular bowls and salads are very big. Coffee is okay, a bit too acidic for me. If you’re getting it I’d recommend it without milk, since acidic coffee and milk tend to clash. I’d always rather get a matcha latte. Matcha is really good, and they make their own coconut milk!!! The desserts are very good too, but I’m usually too full to get them :) I recommend the chocolate chia pudding! I really love that they are committed to healthy and quality food. They offer sugar free options for almost all of their sweets, their default sugar is coconut sugar (which is much lower in GI than cane sugar), everything is vegan and the vegetables are always fresh. It’s one of my favorite places in San Francisco.

Cocktail bar
Eclectic restaurant
Nestled in the vibrant Mission District of San Francisco, Trick Dog is a trendy cocktail bar that has been enchanting visitors since 2013. Housed in a repurposed warehouse, this hotspot offers an impressive selection of craft cocktails and eclectic small plates. The brainchild of Josh Harris, Trick Dog is famous for its biannual themed cocktail menus that showcase creativity and innovation—think Pantone color swatches or even a homage to the Whole Earth Catalog from the '60s!
March was seriously packed, and my editing speed turned into turtle mode 🐢🥲 I finally checked out Trick Dog, a spot that’s been sitting on my Google Maps forever! We arrived pretty late, but it was still packed! The space has two levels — upstairs looked more like a dining area and closed early. The downstairs bar is much smaller and super packed (a little loud too), so finding a seat wasn’t easy haha. The menu was SO cute! We blindly chose High Flyers and (I think) Sword Swallower. Both were really unique and surprisingly smooth! Sword Swallower was refreshing, while High Flyers was sweet but not heavy at all! We also ordered fries and chicken nuggets — the sauces were amazing and everything was freshly fried, super crispy and juicy! Highly recommend grabbing a snack with your drink. This is one of those places where I’d totally come back regularly to try their new menu themes. Loved it — totally recommend!
Hilda L — Google review
Trick Dog was super fun. The menu was circus themed, with each drink printed on its own postcard. The drinks were extremely creative and interesting. Our server was funny, playful, and even pulled a tablecloth out from under some glasses at the table next to us when nobody was even watching - I just noticed out of the corner of my eye as it happened. Just a quirky dude being a quirky dude. Love to see it. The food was great, though the menu is limited, everything we had was delicious. The "Doggy" sauce is the secret that makes everything tick. It's tangy, spicy, mustardy. A great sauce. The burger and dog in particular are great sandwiches. Also the kale salad is comically large. Overall just a fun, if a bit pricey, spot to have a few drinks and a few good bites.
Michael G — Google review
Trick Dog is such a fun and creative spot! It’s a themed bar that switches things up every six months — last time I went, it was a poetry theme, and yesterday they had a space theme. The menu is always super inventive, with cocktail names that match the theme perfectly. Drinks are delicious, the vibe is lively, and the music adds to the energy without being too loud. Definitely one of those places that keeps things fresh and makes you want to come back just to see what they’ll dream up next.
Carmen A — Google review
ultimately, a disappointing experience. Hopefully an anomaly. Context: Towards the end of a week night, group of five of us went there. both food and drinks were ordered. Cocktails were OK. But there was definitely an issue. One cocktail was almost completely ice. I would say 90% of the glass was ice cubes. The fries definitely tasted like they were old and stale, and were refried to try and save them. Texture was off, no longer crispy on the outside, fluffy on inside. Chicken sandwich was OK but felt like it was more a combination of ingredients rather than a cohesive sandwich. The kale salad, however, was quite good. Copious amounts of kale and cheese. That one is worth getting again. hostess, bartenders and staff were friendly. Nice ambience, cool place to hang. As I said before, I hope it was just an anomaly.
Jon L — Google review
It was a busy night when we came and really loud, but we were able to find a table upstairs. Service was prompt, drinks came out with not too bad of a wait. Cocktails are good, I definitely believe with their extensive menu there is a tasting profile for everyone. Bonus points for theme and creativity with he menu.
Manny P — Google review
There’s something magical about this bar and I just kept going back to it in the 2 months I stayed in SF. Def my fav bar in the area. They have such creative menu of cocktails and update the menu every 6 months. Super busy on Friday and weekend nights but bartenders make sure you’re taken care of. Just need a little time for them to get to you. Fun vibe and just so good drinks. Outdoor seating is pretty nice.
Sy W — Google review
Between my cousin and I, we tried 8 cocktails 🫣and all were SOOOOO good. The bartender KB was also fantastic. We also got the fries which were divine! The only thing is that after 4 cocktails you’d think I’d be hammered and I was barely buzzed.
Anna C — Google review
Trick Dog has long been known for its creativity, both in cocktail design and visual presentation — a legacy proudly displayed through its rotating, themed menus, many of which now serve as part of the bar’s wall decor. We visited during the Circus menu and sampled several cocktails. As expected with a concept that evolves frequently, the quality and balance of the drinks varied. Some offerings were well-executed and enjoyable, while others leaned more heavily on novelty than finesse. For instance, the Human Dartboard was a standout — refreshing and vegetal, topped with a clever cheese foam that added both texture and intrigue. In contrast, the Glass Walker opened with aggressively savory notes that made the first sip jarring; while it became slightly more approachable with subsequent sips, the overall balance felt off. Trick Dog continues to impress with its ambition and originality, but some drinks could benefit from a bit more nuance. At times, the concepts feel more literal than layered — bold in idea, but lacking the subtlety that makes a cocktail truly memorable.

Steak house
John's Grill is a historic San Francisco establishment that has been serving up classic steaks and seafood for over 115 years. The restaurant's old-school ambiance, complete with wood-paneled walls and white tablecloths, attracts noir film enthusiasts, private investigators, and fans of the iconic novel and film 'The Maltese Falcon.' The eatery is known for its association with the famous black falcon statue featured in 'The Maltese Falcon,' which has become a symbol of the restaurant.
I went to John's Grill because I was told it's a historical restaurant, and the spot for seafood in San Francisco. I was initially suspicious. It wasn't super busy yet we waited too long to be served cold bread. That said, the table bread, though cold, was sour and delicious, foreshadowing the rest of the night. The service remarkably picked up after we ordered, and our main dishes arrived quickly. I got the Fisherman's Pasta, which was delightfully creamy with massive chunks of fish (salmon and snapper), prawns, and shrimp. My dad got the fried prawns which were large and juicy, and came with 3 different sauces (cocktail, sour cream, and tartar sauce). The blackberry lemonade was also a nice surprise; it was perfectly sour and tasted like real blackberries. Overall, John's Grill has tasty American seafood with a lovely historical ambiance.
Eva F — Google review
During our visit to San Francisco we decided to head to John's Grill for dinner, and despite not having a reservation we were warmly welcomed by the hostess. She kindly offered us a lovely table in the upstairs dining area, which turned out to be a great spot as the downstairs area was already full and buzzing with activity. The added bonus of sitting upstairs was being able to enjoy live music from a talented chap playing during our meal, which added a really nice touch to the evening. Our server, Dana, greeted us with a smile and quickly took our drinks orders before giving us plenty of time to browse the menu and make our selections. Steak was naturally the focus for us, with the fillet and the strip being our choices for the evening. Whilst we waited for our mains, we were served some warm, fresh bread which was a lovely start and very much appreciated. After a reasonable wait our main courses arrived and both steaks were cooked well and very enjoyable. When offered the dessert menu we decided to pass, as nothing really caught our eye and to be fair, the mains were more than enough to leave us feeling full. Overall, we had a really lovely time at John's Grill. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, the service from Dana was great and the food was satisfying. It is definitely a place worth visiting when in San Francisco for a classic steakhouse experience.

This is a great old establishment restaurant in San Francisco. My family has been going here for decades. But, we hadn't been in a while and it did not disappoint. Service was still excellent, especially our waiter, Dana. We had the escargot appetizer and it was excellent. There was complimentary sourdough bread that was out of this world. All three of us ended up ordering fish dishes, the petrole sole, the snapper, and the salmon. Everything was really really good. We would say that the mashed potatoes were excellent, but they had way more butter than necessary. This is the restaurant where scenes from the Maltese falcon movie was filmed.

I was about to eat alone in my hotel room while my group was at an event. I’m so glad I changed my mind. I had a seat at the bar and was so kindly welcomed by Alexis(I hope I spelled his name right.)It was Saturday night. He made a fabulous Old fashioned. I had the beet salad which was delicious, a perfect filet mignon, delicious red wine and he forced😀me to try the chocolate mousse. He was amazing to watch as he worked so hard. He needs a bonus. Always smiling. The atmosphere was perfect. Sometimes going alone is just what you need. Had some good conversations with folks next to me. Thank you! I shall return. I’m sure I burned the calories with all the walking.

Started with the lobster bisque. It was very good. Tasted fresh and a nice almost sweet aftertaste. The NY strip was cooked well, but had absolutely no seasoning. The sourdough bread was very nice as well as the service. Food came out very quick. Overall a nice local restaurant with authentic style.

Stopped in for lunch while in the city recently. It is a long time restaurant and gathering place for politicians and celebs. The lunch menu was somewhat limited as far as sandwiches, burgers, etc. The service was very good and attentive. However the burger I ordered was very well done and dry. There was no sauce or anything on the bun which was very bready compared to the burger. I had to ask for some mayo and ketchup to go with it. The fries were seasoned well and hot and crispy. The clam chowder which we split was good. The chicken sandwich was a thin piece of flattened that was crispy but on the thinner side for a huge bun. All in all it was disappointing.

Food was not so good. Atmosphere also a little bit strange. The only good thing was the waiters -they did an excellent job. Would I recommend this place? I don't know.

I came here for the Steak and it was perfectly cooked I asked for medium well. I enjoyed how it comes with 2 sides which were filling! I came during the holidays surprisingly it was not too busy and no wait. The staff were not very attentive that’s the only part.

House of Prime Rib is a classic English-style restaurant that has been serving prime rib and martinis since the 1940s. It's a polarizing spot, but a favorite for many in San Francisco. The old-school establishment offers a nostalgic dining experience with carvers in tall hats, red leather banquettes, and table-side salad spinning. The AAA Three Diamond Designated restaurant is known for its generous portions of premium prime rib and charming atmosphere.
Delicious food and a fun time, portions are super generous so go prepared to eat, the menu is pretty straight forward and it makes it easy to choose. Hector delivered our meat cuts and he made sure we were happy with our food. Staff is really friendly and attentive, they can also take your group picture and print it for you which is a fun souvenir to remember the night.

Awesome. Just awesome. The prime rib was so good, and every side was incredible. The food ? 5/5 every time. Unfortunately, I cannot quite say the same for the service and atmosphere. Please be aware that no matter the time of day, if you managed to get a reservation, it is very busy. And very cramped. The amount of bodies in there also creates a very hot environment, which contributes the stuffy atmosphere. The service as well - the main server said bread would be coming right away and it didn’t show up until 20 minutes after, during the salad course. I had to ask for it again. They also took a while to come back, so we couldn’t catch them for the check or anything additional for a while. Overall, I think the food is worth it despite the restaurants shortcomings! If you can get a reservation, I do recommend giving their prime rib a try.

Service and atmosphere was the highlight. Servers are super friendly. Only thing better than the service was the food. Got the king Henry cut. The prime rib was absolutely amazing, extremely juicy and tender. The horseradish sauces come in 3 different levels of strength and for me the medium was perfect. Sourdough was great but definitely ask for the corn bread, it’s off menu and there might be a wait but it was amazing. Creamed spinach was perfect and I definitely recommend that over the corn side.

First time here. Celebrated my birthday. Wow! What a meal & experience. It's like having dinner inside an English Manor House. From the Manhattan I had (they gave you a shaker with enough for a second drink!), the tableside salad prepared right in front of you. They even bring you a chilled fork. Prime Rib was amazing! Cooked to order. Ask for the loaded mashed potatoes. They bring you a small bowl with bacon, sour cream & chives you can top or mix your mashed potatoes with. Creamed corn was excellent. For dessert, I had the warm apple crisp with a scoop of Double Rainbow vanilla ice cream. What an awesome birthday dinner. Our waiter, JB, was the best. Highly recommend going here. Thanks House of Prime Rib.

We have been coming here for years but after Covid tried to make reservations several times and was booked out too far. This year for our anniversary we decided to try again and just so happed there was a cancellation and we got in Sunday night at 10pm. We got there early for drinks and they got us a table 15 minutes early. The food was better than we remembered, the prime rib was literally melt in your mouth perfect. They had a choice of creamed corn instead of creamed spinach and it was the best I have ever tasted. Just the best!!

9.15.25- Went to the House of Prime Rib for my birthday recently. First time eating there and must say I was impressed with everything there. The service was too notch, the food was very good. I had a slice of rib med well, plenty pink on the inside, creamed spinach and mashed potato, they do offer a loaded bake potato instead. I would go there again. I STRONGLY suggest place your reservations months in advance!!
Brian K — Google review
House of Prime Rib is a San Francisco classic, and for good reason—it's always packed! We booked a table for six two months in advance and still only managed to get a 9 p.m. slot on a Monday, which just goes to show how popular it is. The main event, the King Henry VIII cut, was fantastic. The first slice of prime rib was just as I remembered it—incredibly juicy with amazing quality. My only minor gripe was that the au jus seemed a bit less flavorful than before and got absorbed by the meat pretty fast. They also have some sweet touches, like a free printed Polaroid for a group photo and a complimentary sorbet with a candle for birthdays. Now, for the big letdown: the second slice. If you finish the King Henry cut, you're offered a second helping. Last time, it was perfect—tender and medium-rare. This time, it was a totally different story. The meat was chewy, overcooked, and way too salty. To make matters worse, when I couldn't finish it, they told me they couldn't wrap it to go. I was pretty disappointed, especially since the quality of that second piece was so bad. I ended up having to finish it unwillingly. So, while the initial plate is great, be prepared that the second slice might not live up to the hype.
Sherman Z — Google review
Short summary: The food was amazing but I don’t know if it is worth the wait and the effort required to get a reservation. Reservation & Service: I had to call a couple of times months ahead before I finally got a table for 9:30. We probably got seated closer to around 10:00 and it took another hour for us to finally get to the prime rib. The restaurant was very packed so I don’t blame the waitstaff for being slow, but it didn’t feel good having to wait so long for the steak. Our waiter was very nice though and he did a great job with the presentation of each of our dishes. Food: I got the king Henry VIII cut and it came with bread, a seasonal salad which they toss in front of you, choice of loaded or mashed potatoes, creamy spinach, and Yorkshire pudding. It was a VERY BIG MEAL, totally worth the $80. The meat was tender and juicy, the sides were all delicious, but we simply could not finish everything.

The Grove - Yerba Buena is a popular American home cooking spot set in a mountain-lodge-like setting with communal seats. It's a friendly neighborhood cafe owned by a husband and wife team, offering Northern Californian cuisine made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The menu features favorites like eggy French Toast, breakfast burritos, steel-cut Irish oatmeal, house-made granola, and fresh fruit platters.
This place was amazing! Was in town for a conference at the convention center and it was so close. There are 2 entrances with the one at the most corner is more of a take out spot and the other entrance is the restaurant. Depending on time of day, there may be a long line. The interior decor is amazing, and you really feel as though you are in a grove. Ample seating, but like I said can get busy. Their menu is extensive and makes you want to try everything they have to offer! You order food/drinks at the counter (or bar) and they provide you with a number and runners bring you your food/drinks. I had the breakfast burrito with added grilled chicken and it was absolutely massive and delicious! Would have to say one of the best burritos I've ever had. Full bar so you can order any drink you want. I highly recommend whoever is visiting SF to give this place a try!
Patrick H — Google review
We visited The Grove for a work dinner with a group of eight. The setup is casual—guests order at the counter from a large, diverse menu, and food is delivered to the table. While the variety is impressive, it can sometimes be a double-edged sword. A few of our dishes came out cold or a bit underwhelming, likely due to the wide menu spread. That said, others in our group had absolutely delicious meals, and we were all impressed by the quality of the ingredients. The standout of the night was the exceptional service—friendly, attentive, and efficient. Despite a few inconsistencies, I’d still recommend giving it a try!

Came here twice over one weekend, just because. We shared a Breakfast Burrito the first time, prepared with care so that each half looked identical. Loved the Tomato Soup. The second time, we went with the Bacon and Gruyere Quiche and the Breakfast Sando. Both were impressive. We got a warm welcome both times. Enjoy the atmosphere and funky bathrooms, too!

Wonderful spot in Yerba Buena! Fresh, delicious food with generous portions and excellent drinks. The atmosphere is warm and lively, and the staff are genuinely friendly and attentive. Perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal in the heart of San Francisco.

I have tough standards for a Rueben sandwich, originally being from NY. This sandwich was outstanding! Automatically coming with Pastrami instead of Corned Beef is not usual, but definitely my preference so that was great. Thick slices conveyed the rich flavor. The rye bread did not have the usual caraway seeds, but had great taste. I would have this sandwich again. The Grove has a good atmosphere with funky decor and some classic Rock and Roll images.

This place is so good! Came in for breakfast and loved it. The vibe on this place is cool. You are handed a menu when you walk in, order at the counter, get a number and choose your seat. Lots of great places to sit and chat. I ordered the avocado toast, which was excellent. Highly recommend a visit here!

Aesthetic spot for a chill brunch. The outdoor seating and laid-back vibe definitely deliver. It’s the kind of place you come to catch up with friends and soak up some sun. That said, the food didn’t quite live up to the setting. The breakfast burger was just okay, and nothing on the menu really stood out. If you’re here for the vibe, it’s a win, but don’t expect a standout brunch.

Awesome spot! I ordered a gluten free tuna melt with a cup of tomato soup, and it was exactly what I needed. The gf bread is delicious, the soup was creamy and savory. The tuna melt was perfect and felt healthy! Quick service, friendly and efficient staff. Loud and busy but great ambience, and I saw lots of groups of folks meeting up. The seating is perfect for a group get together. Will be back when I'm back in SF.

Original Joe's is a long-standing Italian American restaurant that has been serving traditional, old-school Italian dishes, steaks, and seafood since 1937. The menu features generous portions of classic favorites like Chicken Parmigiana and Joe's Famous Hamburger Sandwich. With a family-run operation, the restaurant aims to make all guests feel welcome with spacious seating suitable for families or large groups. The extensive dinner menu includes House Made Baked Lasagna and Joe's Special scramble.
We had such a pleasant lunch here on a Friday early afternoon. We did make a reservation, but it was not very busy at all. The service was great, our waiter was very attentive and made the meal all the more pleasant. The ambiance was nice too. Our food was amazing, I would highly recommend the spicy rigatoni.

Pricey Italian food with good portions but I feel like the food isn't anything exceptional. They do serve their hamburgers in French rolls which is unique. Reservations are recommended as it can be quite busy. As befitting such an established establishment, the staff are well-trained and well-mannered.

Had a fabulous time here!!! Nested within the Little Italy neighborhood, this restaurant is popular!!! We got there around 8pm hoping we’d be able to snag an open seating as the weight was 1 hour & 45 minutes to get seated. If you want to go here, get there early to write your name in. Or if you plan ahead (like I don’t) then use open table and get your name on there a week or couple days in advance. The burger was fabulous!! Top 3 burgers I’ve had in my lifetime. It’s a stovetop juicy burger with a crunchy chewy sourdough bun. Definitely an Italian American take on a butter burger. We were debating between pasta and this burger and one of the locals said it was best burger in the city-(think his name was Blair) and I agree!! Worth the wait after a long day of walking around SF! My friend and I decided to just stalk the “open seating” and the servers do their best job to make everything equitable. Of course, some people are really quick and get to a table (it’s very vulture like lol) but the server had noted we were waiting and she eventually sewed us into our table! Don’t bank on that though-just come prepared to wait. Super worth it though

The food was very good, the service was top-notch and it is an extremely clean eating environment, even the baththrooms were spotless. I gave a four for the atmosphere only because the place can be very loud at times and it could ruin an intimate setting. We had the veal milanese (the veal milanese wasn't on the lunch menu, but they still made it upon request), with a side of meat ravioli and the second dish was spaghetti and meatballs. When we are in San Francisco agian, we will definitely go back.

Definitely one of the best places in San Francisco ❤️ You need to make a reservation, but it’s totally worth it. We had the prime rib, fried calamari, and ravioli, all were delicious. They also have veal Milanese, which, as an Argentine, I’ll definitely be back to try! The service was good too.
Pilar Z — Google review
We had a great time here! The ambiance is lovely and the service is great! There’s a slight bad smell when you first walk in, but it does go away when you go further into the restaurant. The food was good, i’d recommend the calamari and steaks. Their dessert was fantastic! It was definitely a great place for a casual/fancy dinner. The bathrooms were super clean. The bar area was cute and quick.

AN ABSOLUTE MUST FOR ANY REAL FOODIE. Loud, proud and oh so good, I was a little intimidated (and maybe a little deflated) sitting at the counter. But I went with it and how happy I am that we did. No food photos, we were too busy having the best italian food we’ve ever purchased. It’s the last night of our 4 week honeymoon, we’ve eaten a lot of food! And this was hands down just the best. A bottle of wine recommended by our wonderful server, the arancini, farfalle pasta (OMG - drool), the veal piccante and a side of ravioli. We managed to squeeze in tiramisu. It was all to die for. But again, that farfalle was the best tasting sauce. What impressed us both most was the kitchen staff we watched for nearly an entire 3 hours. The volumes of respect in that kitchen is INSANE!! Every single person worked their butts off, non-stop. It’s a tight space and every one has a write to play and every single person was respected for that role. So glad we got to see the smiles and a bit of a joke amongst all the staff when the rush eased a little. We’re so so glad we stumbled across you guys and were so glad we sat at the counter where all the legends belong! My partners only words - “this place is special” Thank you thank you!

We went to Original Joe’s in Italian Town to celebrate our marriage day with family and friends — about 11 or 12 of us in total. We didn’t have a reservation, but the staff were accommodating. While waiting for a table, we enjoyed a bottle of champagne at the bar, which was a nice start to the evening. After a short wait, we got seated outside. The atmosphere was great, and everyone had a good time. The food and wine were both excellent, and my friends and my wife really liked the overall experience. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of a small moment that made me uncomfortable — when I politely asked the person pouring water if he could turn down the heater a little (it was very hot behind me), he reacted in a way that made me hesitant to ask again. Apart from that, our server was wonderful and very professional. We also ordered the pork chop, which came a bit undercooked inside. We didn’t realize we needed to ask for it to be well done. We mentioned it to the server but didn’t send it back since we were already full. I also noticed one hair in one of the dishes, but I understand it’s a busy restaurant and things happen. Overall, it was a memorable evening for all of us. The food, the energy, and the place itself are great — just a few small details that could be improved. Still, I’d definitely recommend this restaurant for special occasions or celebrations.

Italian restaurant
Zuni Café is a lively bistro in San Francisco known for its famous roast chicken and seasonal wood-fired dishes. With a laid-back California vibe, the iconic space features bold artwork-covered walls, a copper bar, and a wood-burning oven that fills the room with mouthwatering aromas. The restaurant offers a variety of locally sourced eats and has partnered with Dispatch Goods to package takeout orders in reusable containers.
Walking into Zuni Cafe feels like stepping into the heart of San Francisco itself. This beloved institution has been serving the city for decades, and you can feel that deep connection to community the moment you settle into their warm, bustling space. The soaring windows flood the restaurant with natural light, while the open kitchen and multi-level dining room create an energy that’s distinctly San Francisco sophisticated yet approachable, polished yet genuine. The menu is a love letter to California cuisine, showcasing the kind of seasonal, locally sourced cooking that made the city famous. Every dish reflects a commitment to quality ingredients prepared with skill and care. The famous roasted chicken, cooked in their wood-fired brick oven, is nothing short of extraordinary crispy-skinned perfection. But what makes Zuni truly special goes beyond the exceptional food. Their partnership with Compass Family Services through the chicken dinner program shows how a restaurant can be a force for good in its community. Knowing that every chicken dinner sold contributes $1 to supporting families in need adds a layer of meaning to an already perfect meal. It’s the kind of thoughtful community engagement that makes you proud to dine here.

Had heard good things about this restaurant and finally gave it a try. The best part in my opinion was the atmosphere. We got the corner seat surrounded by large glass windows, so it was quite bright even though it was cloudy outside. The service was also very good, they split our dishes into two so we could share them. Also FYI, there is a 25% gratuity charge automatically included in the bill. The food was good, we had the burger and the vegetable spaghetti, along with the fries. The burger was pretty good and definitely on the fancier side being served on focaccia, however it was slightly overcooked and not particularly interesting. The pasta was very good. The fries were decent, however they could have been crispier and were not as delicious as I expected.

Excellent martinis. You must go, and you must get the chicken for two. It has bread inside that has soaked up all of the chicken juices it’s amazing. The fries are also so teeny matchbook stick size! You can skip the anchovies and the bread the butter comes out pretty hard.

Came here with a friend without a reservation and we got seated immediately at 1pm when it was super busy. Good: - The portions are small and expensive but the food quality is great - I liked the spaghetti dish a lot - the noodles had a chewy texture and was super tasty - The flourless chocolate cake was good! Wasn't super sweet and the whipped cream was so good - The mint tea was a nice touch after the meal - The servers were very nice! Bad: - The wait time for each dish was very long - we were here for 1h30 min and waiting for most of the time for each dish - Expensive overall! Overall this was a nice find and I enjoyed getting to spend a lazy lunch afternoon here catching up with a friend.
Jenny X — Google review
We arrived at our reservation about 20 min early and they were able to seat us right away. The staff is attentive without being overbearing; they refilled water without being intrusive, timed the courses perfectly, and even split our dishes onto 2 plates because we were a party of 2 couples. They were constantly present (working around the floor) without us feeling pressured to order or finish our food faster. I believe we were there for about 2 hours. Every single dish we ordered was exceptional. All the ingredients for the salad and appetizers tasted so fresh and had so much flavor, especially all the various dipping sauces, dressings and toppings that were served with each of the dishes. We ordered the melons & prosciutto salad, tomato herb and crispy polenta salad, fritto misto (calamari & fried fish), polenta, roasted chicken and salted caramel ice cream with peach galette. Pro tip we observed from a neighboring table - order an extra side of the bread salad to go with the chicken! That one also comes soaked in chicken juices with the currants and pine nuts mixed it with additional spring mix on top. Parking - it looks like mostly street parking but we took a rideshare in to avoid dealing with the traffic and parking situation.
Vivien L — Google review
The main reason I visited was for the chicken bread salad, but I learned that it’s made to order and takes 75 minutes. I did not want to wait that long. The menu felt both limited and all over the place. Nothing really stood out and I wanted a salad but the only protein option was shrimp or anchovies. That said, everything else I had was really good, just think it’s a little overpriced. Service was good, worth checking out but lower your expectations.

Really fresh vegetable appetizers (Caesar salad and burrata with heirloom tomatoes), chicken had great smoky flavor but many pieces were quite dry (thigh and leg were juicy). Was it worth the price? I’m not sure if it is so much better than cheaper rotisserie chickens

Burma Superstar is a popular and lively restaurant that has been serving up authentic Burmese cuisine in the Bay Area since 1992. The restaurant's snug and simple surroundings provide the perfect setting to enjoy their legendary dishes, such as the iconic Tea Leaf Salad, Platha, and Mohinga. With influences from India, China, Thailand, and Laos, Burmese food offers a unique blend of flavors that can be experienced through Burma Superstar's wide-ranging menu.
Food is made to order and with high quality ingredients. The waitress was extremely helpful and answered all our questions and made delicious recommendations. She also advised on how much to order since we didn’t want any waste or leftovers. The green tea salad was unique and delicious. The herbal tea was made with flowers. The atmosphere was very lively, we ate indoors and there is a single bathroom available for customers. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a fun experience with delicious and healthy food.

We had a great time, everything was so delicious!!! Lee, our server, was fantastic, she was so friendly, service was great and all of her recommendations were spot on. We loved the food especially the chili lamb dish, you have to try it!! Will definitely be back!

The food here is great but the service here here is stupendous. All the food is well-cooked and the attention to allergens is spot on. Hell, our server received confirmation from the kitchen that they could make something. But, just to make sure, he double checked and prevented us from having to eat a dish with something we couldn't have. The outdoor seating is comfortable and has ready access to their free hot tea so I actually prefer it over the interior. No food besides the biryani comes with rice so you'll have to order it separately. I believe the regular portions are good for 1.5 people for lunch or 1 person for dinner. My gf loved her shrimp curry. The right mix of heat and the shrimp was well-seasoned and cooked. The crispy chicken was all white meat and the heat is about 1/4 a seeded jalapeno. The tofu vegetable kebat was a favorite among our grass grazers but honestly the eggplant & tofu curry wasn't all that. We also weren't a fan of the tea leaf salad. It's honestly too bitter. But the mix of ingredients was nice and the textural contrast was fun too. Just didn't really like the flavors.

This is my second time trying Burmese food. One of the good things being in SF area is that there are decent Burmese restaurants here. What I liked - Ambience was really good. The complimentary lotus chips were a nice addition. I also tried spicy chicken and their Fried rice which had chickpea - I think that was interesting. I kind of liked it. What I didn't like - Nan Gyi Duk. It reminds me of Vietnamese flavour. It felt fresh but was bit too bland. I think there was too much of things going on with the dish and it was all over place. I will not be ordering it again. But good experimentation. Then I think their portion size was below par. I felt they can improve the portion as the food is actually expensive. I didn't had any dessert or drinks otherwise the check would be easy $100+ for 2 person.

If you’re on Clement Street in San Francisco and your stomach is craving bold, spiced flavors, **Burma Superstar** is definitely one of those neighborhood treasures worth battling the crowds for. From the moment you step in, the aroma of garlic, toasted nuts, and chilies sets the tone — you know you’re in for something special. One of the standout features here is how friendly it is to **vegetarians and vegans**. The menu includes a dedicated vegetable & tofu section, with dishes like **red curry with tofu and eggplant** (available mild or extra spicy) . You’ll also find **Superstar Vegetarian Noodles** — traditional Burmese noodles tossed with tofu, cabbage, potato, cucumber, and chili sauce — a refreshing, room-temperature dish. The **Rainbow Salad**, served vegan or traditional, is a colorful medley of 22 ingredients. And of course the iconic **Tea Leaf Salad** (often mixed tableside) is a must-order, and is often offered in vegan form as well. If you love crispy, savory snacks, their **chips** (especially the garlic chips or golden crispy garlic chips) are excellent — they deliver that addictive crunch and deep garlic flavor that you’ll keep snacking on between plates. On the flip side, this place is **notoriously busy**. They don’t accept reservations, so you’ll likely face long waits — sometimes 30 to 60 minutes (or more) during peak dinner hours. Also worth noting: parking is very limited in this neighborhood. You’ll probably have to circle the blocks or hope for a rare street spot. All told, Burma Superstar offers an electric, flavorful Burmese dining experience with solid vegetarian options and standout crunchy chips — but patience and some luck with parking are required.

Loved the food but the service was just ok. They sat us in the middle of the restaurant and each waiter kicked my chair every time they walked by. Almost seemed like they were competing to see who could kick my chair the most and hardest. But the food was quite tasty and different. Never had Burmese food so cant speak to how authentic it is or even if its particularly good Burmese food. But i enjoyed it quite a bit. We had an eggplant dish, a beef curry, shrimp dish and some coconut rice. Every dish was very enjoyable but their tea leaves salad was my favorite. Never had anythjng that tasted quite like that. First bite was a bit confusing but by the end i was obsessed. Will be looking for more burmese food in the future.

Hit here on a weekday night pretty busy but got seated in 20ish mins. All the dishes were super fresh and they mix the salad for you. The sticky pork and the beef mango were my favorite of the dishes the the sesame chicken too but it tasted more like orange chicken still bomb though. Will deff need to come back to try other dishes!

I love how the food here is not just unique, but thoughtfully made. Everything sounds like something you may have had in a Chinese or Indian restaurant, but is just a little less familiar. The vegetable samusas have an egg roll-like wrapper and are perfectly crispy. The potato filling is creamy and satisfying. The cumin lamb was very flavorful and well stir fried. Chicken biryani is tasty and somewhat different from its Indian counterpart. Sizzling shrimp was like a very good shrimp scampi and would be great with plain rice or bread. Tea leaf salad is a symphony of strong flavors and textures. The mango lassi is very mango forward, with just a hint of yogurt tang at the end.

Restaurant
State Bird Provisions is a popular restaurant located on Fillmore Street, offering an urban-rustic setting and a changing menu of American small plates served dim-sum style. Executive chef Stuart Brioza and his team, including chef de cuisine Gaby Maeda, showcase their talent through the creative Asian-inflected California cuisine. The dining experience features 'commandables' where patrons can order everything from the menu in a standard-style manner.
State Bird Provisions is a fun, exciting, and overall great restaurant. The set menu is solid and a good place to start, but the real magic lies in the small bites that come out of their kitchen like little surprises. The chefs, dressed in white, feel like culinary wizards—constantly creating bold and unexpected flavors that keep the experience lively. Despite how busy it was, the staff remained impressively attentive and welcoming. While nothing completely blew my mind, I also can’t recall anything disappointing—it was consistently enjoyable across the board. I’d definitely recommend it—not just for the food, but for the playful and engaging dining experience that makes it feel special.

State Bird Provisions was a unique experience, although the price is high (over $60 per person) for the experience and food quality. The Californian Japanese fusion with a dim sum style in a cool, relaxed atmosphere. Could be great for friends but might not be the best choice for a date. It's a good idea to know what you want before hand and be patient waiting for the carts. Unfortunately for us, the guinea hen dumpling was missed. Likes: Scallop crudo: Fresh and tasty, with a spicy-sour sauce and blackberries. Desserts: Peanut milk with vanilla and the matcha cookie & cream. Steam egg tofu: A solid steamed egg dish with chili oil and pickled mushrooms. Dishes that didn't quite hit the mark: Fried quail: A little dry, even with the pumpkin seed crust. Pork belly salad: Not really a salad, more like two pieces of pork belly that were fried and needed more plums to cut the richness.

Interesting experience. If you had a choice between this and their sister restaurant, the progress, I would go to the progress. When we arrived, the first server was present and friendly. Shortly after, he was MIA. We had a server who was offering plates in dim sum style. We took some dishes from there but still didn’t know who to order from. The food, overall, was tasty but not as good compared to the sister restaurant.
Josephine S — Google review
Loved the creative dim sum–style service with a modern twist! From the cart, the trout dip and duck lover mousse were both excellent — rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. From the à la carte menu, the CA State Bird with Provisions totally lived up to the hype — crispy, juicy, and unique. The pork milanesa, though, was a bit underwhelming compared to everything else. Overall, a fun and memorable dining experience worth trying!

I love bringing friends and family here so they can experience State Bird, and I’ve been here four times. If you’ve ever been to a dim sum place, it’s a similar concept where food is rolled around on carts, except instead of dumplings, you’ll find things like oysters, garlic bread with burrata, and financiers with duck liver mousse. That’s the fun of it—you get a surprise dish or two to add to the table. There’s also a regular menu for larger plates, and the smaller items come around on the carts. It’s a really fun dining experience, overall. The staff are always friendly and attentive without being overbearing. I’ve had to book weeks in advance each time, so I definitely recommend planning ahead. Pro tip from my last visit: if you arrive early, you can grab drinks next door at The Progress. They’ll let you bring your wine or beer over to State Bird once your table’s ready.

I love the concept, though a bit problematic. You can expect from the menu what they would serve carted out of the kitchen, but the eyes can be hungrier than your stomach at times. You got full from the first few dimsum style serving that didn’t really do it for you and you wonder if the last few ones would have tasted better. Smaller serving maybe 🤷🏼‍♂️ Food presentation looked great, I just wish there was at least 1 dish that wowed me. Service and energy of the place were great 👍🏼

Lovely dining experience but unfortunately the food left much to be desired. I’m not in a rush to come back. If I do, I’d only order from the trays and make sure to get bubbly drinks. Although they do take walk-ins, I’d recommend making reservations. + Interesting concept, though they no longer use dim sum carts and only had waiters going around with trays + Really great service and ambience. Sat at the bar and really enjoyed watching everyone cooking together and preparing the dishes for the trays. I dined solo but felt well cared for, and had a good time + Portion size was small, making it easy for sampling a variety of dishes. For items on the main menu, they allowed half portions (and even quarter portion for the pancakes). This was great for me as solo diner + Absolutely loved the Chèvre ice cream sandwich! The state bird and and liver mousse with financier were also quite good +/- Horchata was a bit too sweet, and definitely not a good pairing with all the food. Should have done some sort of sparkling drinks to help cleanse my palate +/- Also tried the oyster, duck dumpling, trout chip n’ dip. All of them were just fine. I’d probably skip them next time. The egg tofu was boring but it was a painfully needed lighter dish to cut the grease and heavy flavors of the other dishes - Food was rather one note. They were either overwhelming sour, or too salty, or too greasy. If this is only for 1-2 dishes, it’d have been fine. But it got boring and too heavy when all the dishes were like that. I’d prefer the food to be on the lighter, more delicate side. Options from both the main menu and trays were also mostly fried stuff - The fish stick was absolutely horrendous and super dry. The pancakes were underwhelming and I’d not order it again

Fun experience with dim sum cart style dining. Service was great, staff were friendly. Small bites were good but not memorable: - Oysters: play of texture between the crunchy kohlrabi kraut and oyster - Smoked trout dip: good balance of acidity, savory, and creamy -Tofu and shiitake: loved the shiitake, tofu is bland - Cucumber and miso aioli: sesame chili oil cucumber with a creamy sauce - Peach and corn cream: the best most fragrant peach I’ve ever tasted - Lilikoi ribs: tart with a hint of spice sauce, tender lil riblets Menu items: - Whole wheat pancakes with heirloom tomatoes (1/2 order): chewy texture, on a denser side but combo works - Esquite shrimp toast (1/2 order): delish, right balance of flavors and texture - my fav out of all the small dishes - Hand cut noodles: perfect chewy noodles. Sauce is Sichuan inspired and interesting. Didn’t like the first bite but it grew on me. - Rendang Steak: A MUST. Thought this meal is a 3.5* until the steak. It blew me away - perfect medium rare, tender, and the sauce, herbs, crunchy rice combo was *chef’s kiss* - Corn ice cream sandwich: good but the pluot caramel sauce overpowered corn flavor - Peanut milk: liquid peanut but light and not dense like peanut butter A 4* meal because it was fun and the steak 👌

Liholiho Yacht Club is an amazing casual eatery with a variety of interesting flavors. Everything on the menu always puts decision-making skills to the test, and the Tendernob spot is currently operational as dine-in service out of Dear Inga in the Mission. The basement bar, Louie's Gen Gen Room, is also worth checking out for its unique drink options and addictive food items like crudos and waffles.
One of the best restaurant I have ever tried. We were 2 walk-in and they were very gentle in finding a table for us waiting a bit inside in the meantime. We took two tuna poke, the halibut and the cod and two dessert, the matcha lemon tart and the Hawaii with orange sorbet. I loved that every plate was explained when it was arriving. The mixture of flavors in every dish was incredible and is it clear there is a lot of study behind. The process may be a bit high but the quality of the food is excellent. The only thing that I would suggest to add is that it would be very nice to bring some bread or similar together with water when seated. It was really the only thing missing!

We had such a great experience here! The staff was incredibly accommodating to our kids, which made the evening so much more enjoyable. The food was even better than we remembered—every dish was spot on. The swordfish and pork shoulder were absolute standouts, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The service was outstanding from start to finish, and the drink selection was impressive. We opted for the prix fixe menu, which turned out to be a fantastic value and gave us the chance to try most of the menu.

the service was immaculate and the food came so fast! the pacing of the food was perfect and the people there are so warm and welcoming. unfortunately all of the items we ordered were consistently too salty, my tongue is tingling from the amount of sodium. The pork was the best of the 3 dishes though!

Liholiho Yacht Club blends Hawaiian roots with California creativity, a vision from chef Ravi Kapur inspired by his family’s pop-ups back on Maui. The menu is built for sharing, with dishes that highlight both heritage and innovation. We started with the duck liver mousse—smooth and melt-in-your-mouth—followed by the poppy-seed steamed bun with beef tongue, a truly unique surprise. The local halibut kinilaw was bright and refreshing, while the American wagyu zabuton arrived tender and deeply flavorful. For dessert, the Baked Hawaii was the perfect finale—playful and delicious. Service was excellent throughout, portions were just right, and reservations are essential as the restaurant is always in high demand.

Came here before a show nearby. Amazing food and delicious cocktails! The pork belly buns were so perfect, but so was every other dish we had. Definitely come with a decent sized group so you can try a bunch of dishes.

First time I dined here was about 2 years ago and went back again last night. We had a total of 4 people and the amount we ordered was more than enough. I thought every dish we ordered was beautifully plated and cooked to perfection (standouts: snap pea salad, swordfish katsu, local ling cod, chips & dip). The service and vibe were great too!
Karina S — Google review
Would 100% recommend the chef’s tasting menu, every dish was on point. We loved the variety in the line up and each dish had a different unique flavor profile of its own. Loved the duck liver mousse, halibut and the off menu taro croquette. Michelin star level service. 👌🏼 We are definitely going back!

TLDR: creative touches on a menu of mixed cultural heritage I ordered the hojicha highball and it actually tasted very good, surprising that one flavor did not overpower the other. The food was pretty decent and I liked the dessert most of all. I still think it was a bit pricey considering I didn’t have a main dish and after tax and top it was still close to $95 for two apps, one dessert and one cocktail.

Nestled in the heart of San Francisco, Mandalay Restaurant stands as a beloved institution, proudly serving authentic Burmese cuisine since 1984. As the first Burmese eatery in the Bay Area, it has become a culinary landmark that showcases the rich flavors and traditions of Myanmar. The warm ambiance is enhanced by Asian decor touches, creating an inviting atmosphere for diners. Mandalay's menu features an array of delightful dishes that highlight its commitment to authenticity.
Delicious food. We had to wait a little but I think you can expect that. The food, atmosphere, and service are wonderful so they get busy. We started off with an appetizer sampler, which gave us a chance to try many of the delicious treats. We also had the tea leaf salad, which is a must-try. So good. For main meals we had the mandalay special noodles (so good, light, and refreshing), the mandalay chicken, and rainbow chicken. Everything was so delicious. And capping off our meals we had mocktails, which were amazingly good. Try the mandalay special ginger lemonade, and a house special punch.

Amazing meal all around! Stopped by for lunch and had a wonderful meal. Had jasmine tea, rainbow salad, balada, pork and pumpkin stew, mandalay noodles, and mango sticky rice for dessert. All were delicious and came in decently sized portions. Staff was friendly and attentive. Will definitely return!

Nice food and great ambiance. The food was delicious but if you have dietary restrictions like vegan/vegetarian there are options available as some of the dishes are made with fish sauce so let the waiter know prior so they can make alternatives.

20250608: Mandalay is a colorful place for Bermese dishes. To start, my friend and I shared a tea leaf salad, which included table side mixing of fermented tea leaf pesto, sesame seeds, dried garlic, dried lentils, peanuts, diced tomatoes, jalapeños, and something I can't recall. We followed that with my friends choice of lamb curry and my choice of white fish in black bean sauce. (I missed the black bean sauce from Coastal Seafoods in Wayzata, MN,) To accompany our dishes, we shares some coconut rice, and we each had Heineken 0.0s. We were not disappointed. Everything was great.

maybe we ordered the wrong things or came too late but mandalay left me wanting more. supposedly the best burmese in town, i found myself preferring burma superstar nearby. also felt rushed by the staff, trying to take our plates every minute tea leaf salad: good but burma superstar is better samusa: pleasantly surprised and a sleeper hit, would recommend curry chicken: wished it was spicier, forgettable special noodle: pretty tasty but also forgettable volcano beef: enjoyed the beef flavor, solid
Andrea S — Google review
We got the balada, samusa, ong no kaw soi, and mango chicken. Everything was delicious. You can tell that the noodles in ong no kaw soi was fresh because it was soft and bouncy. The balada was flakey and buttery. Mango chicken was a flavor and texture bomb. I enjoyed the meal!

I can here in a Saturday about 12:30. By 1pm the place was hoping busy. Parking in the area is very difficult. We got The chicken samosa as an appetizer, a tea leaf salad, basil beef, Mandalay special noodles, and a coconut rice. It was all very tasty. I liked the Mandalay special noodles the best while my friend liked the basil beef. The noodles had a bit of cilantro on there which she doesn't care for, but I really like and that might be why. The basil beef was very tasty and we saw other items we want to try in the varian near future . It was a lot of food for two people. Even though we were quite stuff and we didn't finish our food, it makes good leftovers. We still ordered a dessert dish to share. The bill came out to $63. A person with tip. Service was good. The police did end up getting a bit loud the busier they got. I felt the food came a little too fast because before we even finished the tea salad and the samosas more food came and we didn't have enough space on the table.
Tu L — Google review
The food is good but the portions are a joke. It’s $20+ for an entree that barely serves one person. Do not order this if you’re trying to feed a family, or if you do double or triple your order. The tea leaf salad, I kid you not is maybe 5 bites. Extremely overpriced for the pittance of food they give you.

Firefly Restaurant is a charming neighborhood spot located in Noe Valley, offering an intimate and cozy atmosphere. The menu features a variety of homestyle dishes with a creative twist, with the selection changing according to the seasons. One of their standout dishes is the fried chicken served with mashed potatoes and gravy, horseradish slaw, and a buttermilk biscuit.
Five star, creative DELICIOUS food. Easy Street parking. Friendly, professional, knowledgeable staff. Nice restroom. Casual yet festive ambience. Fun place for celebrations or dates. They do NOT do take out. The focus is on the people who are present to them. And in turn, they are present to the people enjoying the warm, hospitable welcome. Pricey but SO worth it.

This is a painful review to write because I wanted to love this place. The atmosphere is homey and welcoming, the staff was fantastic, and some of the food was delicious: every starter was amazing, and the sweet potatoes were a knockout. But then there were the misses. The fried chicken main arrived cold and greasy, and the brownie sundae was burnt to a crisp... Literally a crisp, as it was almost impossible to even cut it. The biscuits were also overbaked to the point of being painfully dry. And while the starters were good, it's mostly variations on carbs, with limited vegetable or other options. If the food was more evenly prepared and they added a little variety to the small plate options, this place would be amazing. Note their license is beer & wine only, no hard liquor.

Absolutely delicious. Mostly gluten free menu and very accommodating for dairy free needs as well. Our waitress was so wonderful, too. A little chilly in the parklet but they had blankets for us. 10/10.
Lydia S — Google review
We really enjoy firefly. My wife is strict vegan, and they have many dishes which either are or can be made vegan. I am not vegan. We always get the seed loaf, really enjoy the rustic flavors. I enjoy the Pao de Queijo, and the onion jam that comes with it is my favorite. The Mexican street corn is mild and delightful. My wife enjoys the daikon radish cakes and usually gets them as her main, supplemented with something else since they're a starter and a little small for a main. The choppy salad is excellent even in vegan form. The spring salad is also excellent as a vegan option. I've had both the fried chicken and the braised pork; both are excellent. The only quibble is that the "damn fine buttermilk biscuit" hasn't actually been that great on two occasions - it tends to be overcooked and not so tender. The cornbread is much better although it too tends to be overcooked. The Mac and cheese is fine but not spectacular. For dessert, the chocolate peanut butter bar is excellent, but get the vanilla ice cream rather than the coffee cocoa nib vegan ice cream if you can. The dulce de leche pot de creme is excellent but very rich. And the key lime pie is also excellent, not too tart or too sweet - just right, but smaller than I would like.

Hands down, top food I’ve had and on top of it all was gluten free. I’m GF and the fact I had options outside of changing the bun, or just a burger is first win but I had fried chicken, gravy, Mac and cheese, bread and they weren’t subs it was just their menu. Sammy was an INCREDIBLE waitress and took care of us and added to the evening. It was all so filling and for the atmosphere and food it was fairly priced. We are visiting but would 100% go back, it was delish! You must go. And she brought a blanket out for us since we sat in their outdoor seating

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! OWNER MISTREATS THE CUSTOMERS WITHOUT APPOLOGY. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was just too frustrating to ignore. The woman who says she’s the owner (and I really hope she isn’t) was unbelievably rude and dismissive toward customers. No respect, no apology — not even for the long delay. What makes it worse is how she responds to reviews online — instead of taking responsibility, she doubles down with defensive comments like a teenager trying to justify bad behavior. It’s honestly disappointing, especially for people visiting San Francisco who were excited to try this spot and made time for it despite the weather. Here’s what happened: we made a reservation well in advance and even called ahead to ask if we could come a little early. They told us to come in, but when we arrived, we were rudely told off for showing up early. We decided to wait outside until our actual reservation time — no big deal — but even then, our table wasn’t ready for another 25 minutes. Still no apology, just gossip from the staff about “difficult customers.” After waiting over an hour and a half in total, we decided to leave. The food might be good, but no meal is worth being treated that poorly. A little kindness and professionalism go a long way — sadly, neither was found here. There are other good places in San Francisco which still maintain their dignity, support them instead.

Burma Love is a modern Burmese restaurant that offers a contemporary twist on traditional dishes. As a spin-off of the renowned Burma Superstar, it provides shareable plates in a stylish setting with a bar. The menu features warm Burmese samosas and coconut chicken noodle soup, as well as classic options like Mohinga, a catfish chowder soup.
Excellent Burmese restaurant. Perfect for dates or group gatherings. Most of the food is excellent. The atmosphere is upscale without being overly formal. There is a dedicated bar and a separate dining area. Pricing (Medium-High) - This restaurant leans a bit more expensive (+$25 per plate), but the quality of the food is generally high. Wait Times (Modest) - This place gets quite busy, but lately the wait has been modest (5-15 minutes). I don’t think they do reservations, but you probably don’t need one anyways unless you have a large group. Appetizers - I personally enjoy the famous tea leaf salad and the spicy chicken wings. The calamari is also perfectly fried. The other salads are also good choices, but the tea leaf salad is outstanding. Entrees (Beef, Vegetarian) - I will generally recommend the burmese curries and the other beef dishes. All of the beef dishes here have been good. We clean these plates every time. The vegetarian dishes are also great. I really like their Garlic Eggplant dish. Entrees (Do not get Chicken) - I would recommend against most of the chicken dishes (spicy and crunchy chicken, mango chicken, mint chicken etc). The chicken dishes are okay, but not impressive. I have tried these multiple times and they are usually disappointing. The spicy and crunchy chicken is probably the best one, but that dish is deep fried and very heavy. Overall solid choice for dates, dinner parties or special occasions. High quality food at an acceptable price. Upscale location.

We went to see what the hype was about. We had the famed tea leaf salad, catfish soup and mint chicken. While service and ambiance were great the food was so-so. It was also quite pricey but dish sizes were substantial so overall it was reasonable for the area. We did not find the food really flavorful like we usually do with the Thai cuisine that we typically opt for - perhaps the Burmese cuisine is just not for us. For spicy food lovers please ask for spices on the side as the food is not spicy at all

Burma Love is cute inside. We had reservations and walked in with 0 wait. The menu was so cute, it started off with a map of Burma and a quick history. This was a sweet touch. Menu was fantastic, and food was delicious. Lots of people filled into the tables. Trendy place for delicious food and drinks. Fresh Young Coconut water - adorable!! Tip: they cut open the coconut after you are done and you can eat the coconut meat :) Ginger Lemonade - delicious! 22 ingredient Rainbow Salad Paratha & Dip - outstanding flavors Burmese Style Eggplant Red Curry

I went here for a birthday dinner and it was a great pick! It was a little fancier than I anticipated, but I think that made it nice. I recommend making a reservation or at least getting on the waitlist since there is a bit of a wait. There are clean bathrooms, and the ambiance is really nice. The bar area is huge and well decorated, but we sat at the booth section. i really enjoyed the service, our waiters were efficient and fun. They really made sure to keep things going. The food also came out super duper fast! We got the shan noodles, which they mixed up for us table side. I did also like their sparkling water. I would come here again for another special day, but I might also try their other sister locations.

Burma Love in the Mission District is the perfect sister spot to the longtime neighborhood favorite, Burma Superstar. It carries the same magic — those bold, comforting Burmese flavors — but in a fresh, modern setting. We ordered the eggplant and daikon, fried rice, and mango chicken, and every dish was bursting with flavor and perfectly balanced. You can taste the care in the spices and textures — nothing feels heavy, just deeply satisfying. The drinks were also a highlight — strong, tasty, and thoughtfully mixed. The space itself has a moody, intimate vibe with dim lighting and warm tones that make it feel both stylish and inviting. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Burma Superstar or new to Burmese cuisine, Burma Love is absolutely worth the visit. 🌶️🍚🍸

Did a walk in for dinner with a group of 4 and the wait was about 15 minutes or so, we grabbed a drink at the bar as we waited for our table. The host Daniella was so great with helping us out and helping us with a subtle surprise for the birthday boy in the group. Food was delicious. I would recommend the garlic noodles and the shaan noodles with your protein of choice. And the paratha was delicious chewy and fluffy dipped in the vegetarian curry wow. Ambiance was dark and cozy. Would definitely be back, Cheers!

A novel and interesting spot, beautifully decorated and nestled in the mission district of SF. Would highly recommend the tea leaf salad, unlike anything you've ever had before, unless you've dined on the mountains of Asia. The wok tossed dishes were flavorful but less impressive. Get the salad, add entrees to round out the meal. Well worth the visit.

Tosca Cafe is a vibrant bar and eatery that offers Italian cuisine, cocktails, and wine in a revamped yet old-school setting. This North Beach institution faced eviction in 2012 but was saved by Sean Penn and reopened as a luxury restaurant in 2013. It has since become a neighborhood mainstay known for its great pasta, focaccia, and top-notch drinks.
Vibes here are immaculate. Refined enough for the low light, small enough to feel the real buzz of the restaurant operating like a fine machine. Margo, the big bartender, keeps an eye on the entire restaurant from the cocktail station. The care and attention to each patron is evident 100-year-old establishment right across from City Lights bookstore? Don't think twice. Go, and get whatever Margo recommends, and you're guaranteed to make a memory.

I was enticed and drawn in by the interiors and arrived last night with a couple, hoping to enjoy Tosca’s art, drinks, and hospitality. It wasn’t crowded, and we asked for a table—easier for four to talk than at the bar—but were denied, even though many tables were empty at 10 pm. Our hearts sank. All we wanted were drinks, yet we were read the rules. It felt like a Seinfeld episode: no tables for just drinks. We went to Comstock which maybe the best place for craft cocktails ; its interiors are sophisticated with hushed lighting. Loved its charred Brussels sprouts.

A friend and I enjoyed dinner in this beautiful restaurant in the middle of a San Francisco heat wave in October 2024. This facility does have some air conditioning but the unit was only barely working in the small back dining room and the oven and structure of the facility made dining conditions virtually untenable in the rest of the space. In spite of conditions that would melt mere mortals, the waitstaff was friendly, efficient, and generous. Even though they'd been working in the infernal heat for hours (even days), they bolstered our wilting resolves by creating a lively spirit of hospitality and inclusion. We made it through with smiles, together. Very grateful for these professionals. I can only imagine how extraordinary this rare type of hospitality would be under normal, cooler conditions. I hope the management takes good care of their remarkable staff, especially after excelling in these drastic working conditions. Our dinner choices included a panzanella salad that was near perfection with ripe heirloom tomato chunks, mozzarella, red onion, homemade croutons and a perfectly balanced vinaigrette. I was so thrilled to find this rare treat on the menu. With the perfect amounts of tang, savoriness, creaminess, and crunch, this was an ideal way to begin our meal and was a generous amount for two diners. Entrees (Primi and Secondi) were lumache alla vodka and chicken parmesan. Both were very thoughtfully designed, providing balance and texture in both incarnations. The lumache's silken tomato sauce had the right touch of heat and was melded beautifully with a perfectly cooked al dente pasta. The chicken parm was one of the best I've enjoyed in ages as it found such a great balance of crispy textures with a very rich tomato sauce and, of course, the cheese. I think they sauced it perfectly for the plate but do recommend you ask for a little extra sauce on the side as the one they make has depth that'll leave you wanting more. Once again, one of each entree provided plenty of food for sharing for two diners. Kudos to the chef and back of house team for delivering such beauty through what must have been downright mercurial kitchen conditions. I can't report regarding the noise level at Tosca as the restaurant was only about half full due to the heat in the city. It's a physically beautiful space and I'd love to come back to experience service, food, and hospitality again when cooler temperatures prevail. Always a pleasure to dine in a restaurant whose staff is clearly capable of delivering remarkable food and hospitable service.

Needed a Friday reservation for a big group. Decided to come to this classic place since 3 out of the 8 lived in the neighborhood years ago. We had olives and two different types of burrata starters with a bottle of white and red. For dinner we ate various pasta, salmon, chicken parmigiana etc. We had gelato, tiramisu and olive oil cake. The tiramisu was divine as was the gelato. Olive oil cake was ok but not as good as the other two.

This is an easy 5 star. This place feels like it has rightfully been around since 1919. It feels like you are time traveling with a plate of excellent food in front of you. Great place to spark conversation and curiosity about the precious guests who have enjoyed these same walls. We tried everything and it was all very good. The staff was also very friendly. This is a MUST if you’re visiting or a local.

What happened to this beautiful restaurant? Empty seats, empty bar, empty liquor bottles (the only gin they had was Bombay Sapphire?), and slow food service. Having dinner at Tosca was like watching an old man dying; this once venerable and world-renowned institution seems sadly to be on its last gasp. Someone please save this wonderful place.

We’d not long got off a long-haul flight so we were slight out of it but the service was quick (waiters not overly chatty) and the food that was served was tasty! The portion sizes were large too! We went for meatballs, chicken parmigiana and broccoli! The meatballs were a little cool when they came out, but this was not a problem for the staff, they whipped them away and served us a fresh portion within minutes. Then we couldn’t resist some gelato, and were not disappointed as the pistachio was delicious! Our only criticism was the staff didn’t seem that chatty, maybe there was a language barrier? But we would absolutely return to this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone looking for a decent Italian!

I've been in this restaurant on my second night in San Francisco because I heard it was one of the most renowned in the city. The atmosphere is very nice, with paintings on the wall and low lights, but other than that I didn't find anything special about it. We had Lumache Cacio e Pepe and Tosca Meatballs, they were ok but quite overpriced (27$ and 24$ respectively).

Italian restaurant
Gusto Pinsa Romana offers a taste of Rome with its sourdough crust and artisanal toppings, served in a charming setting with outdoor seating. The Roman pinsas at Gusto are made using an ancient dough recipe and traditional techniques, closely resembling the authentic ones found in Rome. Visitors praise the quick service and delicious pizzas, noting the pleasant chewiness and excellent flavor of the crust. The four cheese pizza is particularly recommended for its satisfying taste.
I don’t say this lightly but this is the best pizza I’ve ever had. I had to leave a review before I left the table. It’s a hole in the wall pizza shop with the best casual, modern yet cozy vibes. We will be coming back tomorrow!
Sarah P — Google review
Absolutely loved this spot! We started with the anchovies Caesar, and it was one of the best I’ve ever had—fresh, flavorful, and not too heavy. Then we had the Diavola pinsa, which was amazing…crispy edges, a little kick of heat, and so satisfying. For dessert, we shared the cannoli and tiramisu—both were incredible!! The cannoli was perfectly crunchy and not too sweet, and the tiramisu was rich, creamy, and just melts in your mouth! On top of all that, everyone working there was genuinely kind and welcoming! You could feel the care in both the food and the service. We left so happy, and already planning to come back!

Family recipe which is different than the typical pizza. Less sugar and felt much lighter on the stomach. I’m returning here another time during my short trip to SF.

This was the best pizza I’ve ever had! The crust was thin and perfectly crispy on the edges, soft in the middle. We ordered the San Daniela — I usually leave the crust, but this time I ate everything.

Fantastic pizza’s or more specifically pinsa’s! Loved this different dough. Food was great and service was super. Highly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic spot! It's a little hole-in-the-wall type place, but the food is great and the people are very friendly. Pizza by the slice is available, but if you want the true experience, sit down and order o e of their specialties. You won't be disappointed!

Fabulous pinsa, wonderful crust - crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. Can see them making it inside while eating. Lovely waitress. Highly recommend supporting this local business.

Burmese restaurant
Asian fusion restaurant
Asian restaurant
Nestled in a cozy corner, Pagan Restaurant pays homage to the vibrant flavors of Burma and Thailand. This charming eatery offers an authentic dining experience with a menu that showcases classic dishes from both cultures. Regulars rave about the delicious food, which is not only flavorful but also reasonably priced, making it accessible for everyone. The attentive service adds to the warm atmosphere, enhanced by lovely Burmese decor that makes you feel right at home. For those new to Burmese cuisine, Pagan is a fantastic introduction!
Never tried Burmese food before and this plate was a hit, a perfect large meal after a long hike. Food was delicious: ordered beef kebab (more like stir fry), pumpkin pork stew, garlic noodles, and coconut rice. The garlic rice was good but the meat was dry, but the beef dish had a subtle mint flavour but mildly spicy and the beef was very flavourful. The pumpkin dish was also delicious. Service was attentive and kind but forgot to fill up water many times. But understandable since there were so many people and he was the only waiter. Also the only dessert dish is mango sticky rice he told us. Overall very delicious food and worth the price. Glad this place is so popular and very grateful we found this place.
Jane A — Google review
The food here is absolutely insane! I had no idea how unique the flavor profile would be, so I was completely blown away. I got the chicken satay — it comes with a side sauce, peanuts, and cucumbers, which really tie everything together. Then came the entrée: Chicken Kebat. Oh god, I’m out of vocabulary to describe how incredibly satisfying it was. Just try it for yourself — if you don’t like it, I’ll personally Venmo you the price back. Yes, it’s that good! I got the coconut rice, and somehow it made the dish come alive. One of the best dinners I’ve ever had in SF.
Arnav W — Google review
This is a true neighborhood gem of a restaurant. They have two menus: Burmese and Thai. I really enjoyed the pumpkin stew with shrimp from the Burmese menu, just the right amount of spice nicely balanced out the flavor. The side of biryani rice was revelatory, one of the best rice dishes I’ve ever had. The service was very kind and efficient, and I loved the atmosphere of this homey restaurant. I look forward to going back!

Delicious Burmese food! We had the stuffed tofu, Pagan Vegetarian Curry (which is a delicious soup thickened with cooked red lentils, with okra, eggplant, bamboo shoots, and mint), and the Chicken Kebat (sautéed chicken in a spicy sauce), all from the Burmese side of the menu. Also hot Burmese tea, which is a sweetened black tea. The staff was super friendly dot. Recommended!
Barbara H — Google review
Place was not very good. Chicken tasted very old and was grey like it had been frozen for a very long time. Noodles were good, but beef also tasted old and tough. Chai was watery and had the flavor of those instant mix packets. Good service, but very pricey for the low-quality food.
Joss — Google review
Highest recommendation for this restaurant. Deserves more than 5 stars, truly. This was the best Burmese food I've ever had. The moh hinga had an incredible depth to it, and the sauces of the egg curry and pan fried okra prawn were distinct and indescribably delicious. The okra prawn dish was the most surprisingly good dish, but they all were perfect, and the coconut rice was also perfect as a base. I'll definitely return!

I'm living near by this restaurant and always came here before COVID-19. I think the taste is much better than before! Duck fried rice was good, the duck is fresh, tastey and juicy! I always like green curry, but I tried pumpkin curry with chicken this time(red curry)So yummy!Taste sweet, the flavor that combine with curry and coconut milk was amazing!Made the pumpkin much more flavorful!

Vietnamese restaurant
Pho 2000 is a charming Vietnamese restaurant with two floors and efficient service. While their beef pho is the specialty, they also offer delicious bun rieu packed with crab and pork balls. The restaurant's open kitchen fills the space with enticing aromas as giant pots simmer away. Despite some mixed reviews on the broth strength and noodle texture, many visitors praise the flavorful broth and fresh garnishes, making it a great value for a satisfying meal.
I had lunch here during my trip to San Francisco, and it was fantastic! This place is very popular with locals, and the pho was truly delicious. The bowl was large and came with a generous amount of broth and noodles. Fresh vegetables like bean sprouts were served on the side, so you could add them as you like. Highly recommended!
EISUKE I — Google review
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant today. I decided to try the beef carpaccio for the first time, and it was absolutely delicious — very fresh, tender, and full of flavor. I also ordered the beef pho, which was served in a generous portion with plenty of noodles and broth, and once again, the beef was impressively fresh and tasty. Beyond the food, I really appreciated the attentive service. The staff were considerate and took the time to arrange a comfortable table for us. They were also very accommodating with children, which made the dining experience much easier and more enjoyable for our family. Overall, the combination of fresh ingredients, generous portions, and thoughtful service left me with a very positive impression. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for both delicious food and a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.

We visited this pho place after reading the great reviews, and it definitely didn’t disappoint! The food was delicious, and the prices were very reasonable compared to other places. The service was fast and attentive, which made the experience even better. The area might feel a little intimidating to walk through at first, but it’s along the main busy street, so it still feels safe. Overall, a great spot for tasty pho and friendly service, we’d happily come back again! 🍜

My boyfriend and I came across this cute little authentic place while on our trip in San Francisco 2 weeks ago. We went on a Saturday around noon and the service was pretty fast, we were sat at a table upstairs (which did happen to be hot but they had about 3 fans running) as soon as we got there. We both ordered pho and it was sooooo good, from the broth, to the noodles, to even the chili oil. We also ordered coconut juice to drink, it’s the best thing I’ve ever had!! 10/10 would recommend :)

Best pho ever! We also ordered the fresh rolls with shrimp and it was delicious. Meat was incredibly tender, vegetables were fresh and crisp and the broth was heavenly.
Mari L — Google review
Fast service, good pho. We've been twice, and both times, we were seated immediately in the upstairs area. Have tried their spring rolls, combo beef pho, and bun rieu. Pho had a great broth flavor. Quick service, good food, decent prices for the city.
Anna K — Google review
I often go to this restaurant to eat pho. Although it is in a difficult area of the tenderloin, it is so worth it to dine there. The food is spectacular and has a homemade-feel unique to Pho 2000. There are many menu options and the workers are always hustling for food to come out as fast as possible. There are many condiments and garnish. It is a popular spot because of how delicious the food is, but it should not deter you from visiting as they have seating on two different floors. There will be a place for you to sit. Just make sure to lock your car and bring all valuable with you.

Lemonade Restaurant is a Californian chain of upscale cafes offering a seasonal comfort-food menu with a modern twist on cuisine. With several locations in San Francisco, including at Yerba Buena, it's conveniently situated for visitors to the Children's Creativity Museum or the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The cafeteria-style setup allows customers to choose from a variety of salads, sides, hot and cold mains, and desserts.
Great staff, amazing food, healthy options, and indoor and outdoor seating. I normally come here to get my lunch during the week as they participate in meal pal which I'm so glad they do because it exposed me to such a great spot. Way better than proper food and some of the other nearby options.

The food was ok, I found ordering to be a little confusing. I feel the meal was overpriced and lacked flavor. Dirty tables is a pet peeve of mine especially when an establishment are not busy. Carrot ginger lemonade was great but overall I won’t be eating here again.

Food: I got a vegan bowl. It was not good at all. Proportion of rice was a lot more. Atmosphere: I spotted many flies inside the restaurant. It was not clean either. Floors were sticky. The door was rusty.

It's my first time going and I'll definitely be back! I had the Chicken pesto sandwich which came with BBQ potato chips. Hadn't quite expected that, but it was a good addition. Also hadn't expected the slices of tomato and mozzarella to be thicker than you might usually find on a sandwich. The Raspberry mint lemonade was perfectly well balanced. I was thrown off at first when ordering, it says they add sugar to every drink. The non sugar option is Stevia. It seems like the base lemonade has no sugar in it so they add it when making your drink, but have to mention it on the menu.

5 stars for the people working there. Blanca was so kind. Felt super nice! Also gave me a free lemonade because they had extra.

I was really excited to discover this place as I’m always on the look out for tasty healthy options when out and about. But I was pretty disappointed that my salmon dish hardly had any salmon in it and was in little chunks, not like it’s pictured on the menu as a full slice of fish. I don’t know if it was a fluke or if it’s always like that. I’m hoping it was just a fluke because I’d love to make this a regular stop, as it was delicious and seemed healthy! It just wasn’t enough to fill me. :/

Thai restaurant
Champa Garden Restaurant is a cozy establishment serving Thai and Laotian specialties in a simple dining room adorned with Asian motifs. Visitors rave about the Nam Kaow, a filling appetizer featuring rice and Lao sausages, as well as the papaya salad that pairs perfectly with rice vermicelli. The fried tofu is described as some of the best ever had, boasting a crispy exterior and juicy interior.
Very friendly service. Also appreciated that they were playing the warriors game in their bar area. There was a Laotian and Thai option for the papaya salad and I prefer the Thai version though my friends liked the shrimp paste of the Laotian. The angel wings had a good fry. The champa sampler is definitely the best item.

The mango curry with shrimp was delicious? Big surprise ther, loved that, and the basil fried rice was also very solid. Also enjoyed the mushroom soup it had a wonderful garlic taste. Panang curry was 7/10. We got the lao Thai style salad with tofu and personally like a 4/10, the onion is very strong but that could be a personal taste typa thing. Everything else was perfect, def recommend the mango curry and the basil fried rice!

Portion to Price: 4/5 - A good portion of food that will make me full.
Spencer Q — Google review
This is an Asian fusion restaurant that serves solid Thai and Laotian cuisine at decent prices. The Food: I was thrilled to see Kaow Soi on the menu. This is often my go-to dish when I go to a Thai restaurant, as I love its thick egg noodles, creamy yellow broth, and unique flavors. Unfortunately, that's not what I got when I ordered "Lue's Noodle Soup - Kaow Soy" from the menu. It had pretty much the same ingredients of the Kaow Soi I'm used to, but this had white rice noodles while the broth was more watery than creamy and more brown than yellow -- think beef noodle style rather than creamy coconut broth. Taste-wise, it was fine, but I was just disappointed it wasn't what I was expecting. Maybe this is the Laotian version? Fortunately, the other dishes my group got was more or less solid. The Pad Se-ew was standard fare, but the fried tilapia was delicious, with a perfectly crispy exterior and moist interior. The Champa Sampler (Lao sausages, fried spring rolls, and fried rice ball salad) was good and a good dish to get for sharing. But perhaps the best order was the Mango Sticky Rice. Simply delicious. The Service: The entire staff was friendly, prompt, and competent. Unlike at most Asian restaurants, the servers checked in with us from time to time and refilled our waters. The Setting: It's a medium sized establishment that was clean and well organized. The restrooms were clean, though some parks vandalized the mirror and paper towel dispenser with graffiti. Also, like many places in The greater San Francisco area, finding parking can be difficult. We lucked out with free street parking in front, but don't expect such lucky during peak weekend hours. The Conclusion: If you're looking for traditional Thai food, you might be a little disappointed. But if you enjoy trying a different take on Thai food or want the option of also having Laotian cuisine, Champa Garden can deliver the goods. It's really all about expectations. My true rating is 3.5 out of 5, but since Google doesn't allow for half stars, I'll round up to 4 because the staff was so nice.
Patrick V — Google review
Our first Loatain restaurant! Cashew chicken and a soup I can't remember the name. Both very tasty, the cards chicken was the best. Service is fast. The location is great, and street parking is available.

We arrived toward the end of lunch hour but actually beat the crowd. After we got seated (within moments of arriving), everyone else started showing up, so we were lucky to get in and place our order when we did. This place is a contender for some of the best fried tofu I've ever had. It was super crispy on the outside and firm and juicy on the inside. A true delight to eat. I enjoyed the eggplant as well. It was packed with flavour but fortunately not too garlicky, an issue I've noticed with stir-fried eggplant at other places. The only downside to my meal was that the rice was a bit soggy and lacked the typical aromatic flavour of jasmine rice. Overall though, this place was a solid lunch option, and I'll be back soon for more delicious tofu and eggplant.
Corina L — Google review
It is one of the best restaurants in South SF. I will definitely make an effort to go back next time I'm in the Bay Area. The foods are amazing, so fresh and delicious. Each and every dish is so good. We had so many foods, but the stand out is the noodles.
Paul N — Google review
Onion soup is not on the menu however it appeared in front of me a large bowl of onions with button mushrooms. I’m thinking onions and button mushrooms. What kind of restaurant is this? I don’t think I went Italian. This is definitely Asian then a tomato in the soup, which I have never seen another winky dink. The shrimp was very tasty and delicious and perfectly done. The broth was delicious. However, I know have a stomach ache from all the onions. The avocado wrap looks so amazing until you get to the part where the stem is not taken off of the mint and it’s very tough to eat. God was good though highly recommend the avocado wrap if they could just make it without stems of mint, I did add tons of nuts and chilies on it to make it super delicious.

Left a five star review 8 years ago, and I stand by it. This little Burmese greasy spoon is always great and super cheap. Even if the ladies behind the counter seem generally uninterested in having you there. Perhaps that's half the appeal. Worth the short wait to get a seat. Bring cash!

Good food, good price, good service. All in all, good. Tried Chicken House Noodles, Cold Noodles with spicy chicken, Spinach Noodles with Tofu, and Black Bean Fish with Noodles. My favorite was the Cold Noodles, followed by the Chicken House Noodles, then the spinach noodles and lastly the Black Bean Fish. Each dish was $9 and total was $36 cash.

It is endearing how Michelle (the waitress) remembers all of her customer's names. Yamo is a small eight seat counter style restaurant ran by a daughter and mother team. My Burmese tea salad $9 and chicken house noodles $9 were delicious. A lot of flavor. It is great for the price. There was a 30 minutes wait at 7:30pm on a Monday. Excellent dinner tonight.

Tiny, diner style, Asian comfort food spot in the mission district. Friday night, we waited about 45mins for a spot to sit for dinner. Ordered the tra leaf salad, egg rolls, samsusas, curry chicken, mango chicken, cold noodles, and some other stuff. Overall it's good, relatively healthy. Fresh ingredients and made to order. Taste wise, it was fine. Not many negatives. Nothing fancy to honest. It is very affordable for 2025 and being in the heart of the city which is definitely a plus. If you want a simple, somewhat hearty, affordable, Asian meal that's made to order, this is your spot. Otherwise, it's not fancy and nothing impressive. I think to go orders are better here if you're in a rush. Might be back.

Wanted to order for to go but ending up waiting close to an hour since we didn’t know how the system worked. Got the yamo house noodles with beef- it was good but just average level. It’s a nice place if you’re looking for a really cheap place to eat but is it worth lining up an hour for? Maybe not. Seating is also super limited- just a little counter at the front so be prepared to wait! The two ladies working were nice though!

Dumpling Home is a vibrant and casual restaurant located in Hayes Valley, offering a variety of dumplings including fried, steamed, and boiled options, as well as noodles and small plates. Despite opening in 2020, it has quickly gained recognition and made it to the Michelin Bib Gourmand list in 2021.
Went on a thursday night. Expect a wait if you come after 6:30 pm, they don't seat you until you have the full party. That said, service was really quick once we sat down. We ordered the pork and beef pan-fried dumplings, pork xiao long bao, sauteed grean beans, cucumber, and the Zha Jiang noodles. Everything was really good. My favorite was the pan-fried dumplings, as I've never had that before. Just be careful as it does squirt everywhere if you bite into it. I liked the pork better than the beef dumpling. The cucumber was fresh, although I didn't really taste the garlic sauce. The xiao long bao was great, and the meat and sauce were very flavorful. Although personally, I thought they were on the bigger side. I prefer XLB that has an equal meat to pastry ratio. The green beans were perfectly crunchy. For 6 dishes, tea and 1 beer, we paid ~$120 including tips. This is a good portion for 3 people. Would definitely come back again.

Dumpling Home offers authentic and delicious Chinese food that truly impressed me. The soup dumplings were outstanding — they held all the flavorful broth without breaking, which is a challenge even for restaurants in China. The small bites were refreshing, tasty, and full of variety. Despite the lunch rush, the business ran smoothly with efficient service. Highly recommend!

I’ve been to almost every dumpling spot in SF (my wife’s a big fan 😂), so I’d say I’ve got a decent benchmark. This place is solid, definitely good, but not the best in the city. The standout for me was the spicy pork soup dumpling, full of flavor and perfectly done. The sesame boiled dumpling was also above average. But the spicy beef boiled dumpling didn’t quite hit the mark, bland and forgettable. Be ready for a wait, there’s usually a line and it can take 20–30 minutes to get seated. Overall, worth trying, but I wouldn’t call it a top dumpling destination.

The food was absolutely delicious and came out super fast. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The beer was really good too! It does get a little loud since the place stays busy, but that just shows how popular it is. You might not linger long, but every bite is worth it. I really enjoyed my visit!

This place was amazing! My daughter loves dumplings and bao but oddly enough i had never had them. This would be my first time trying! We ordered the pan fried juicy pork bao, pork and crab soup bao, fresh shrimp with shrimp paste noodles and the fresh cucumber with garlic sauce. The vibe of the place was all good and positive! It felt so laid back and welcoming. It was super clean and smelled amazing! There was a bit of a wait but that’s because it was packed and there was a long line of people ahead of us. It was good because they had plugs so after walking and riding scooters all day in the city we were able to charge our phones while there which is a major plus for us tourist! That pan fried juicy pork bao was popular as it was on every single table so we had to try it! The food came out reasonably quickly and our server and the staff were super nice and friendly. I had seen videos of this spot on tiktok raving about how great this place was…And it did not disappoint!!! THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS! All of it! There was nothing i would really change. The soup bao was my absolute favorite while my daughters enjoyed the ever so popular juicy pan fried bao. Those cucumbers were divine. Honestly i could eat those all day long. My daughter describes this as the best she’s ever had. Highly recommend! Absolutely enjoyed the food and service here. No concerns. Plus i got to try a new food that i absolutely ended up loving. When I came back to Houston, the first thing i did was find a noodle and dumpling spot. Theirs was ok but after having this place i may not find another spot this good!

Dumplings are such a treat for me, but I rarely get them because my wife isn't a huge fan. So, when my son and I caught a show at Davies Symphony Hall, we walked a couple blocks to try Dumpling Home. Wow! They were terrific!! The service was fast and friendly, the price was reasonable, the interior was clean and unpretentious, and the food was some of the best I've had in a decade. We ordered the hot and sour soup (delish!), the Numb & Spicy Pork Xiao Long Bao (the ABSOLUTE standout here!), the fried pork wontons (great!), the pork and vegetable pot stickers (solid), and the curry lamb dumplings (unique and savory!). In short, a terrific and wonderful experience. I see what all the fuss is about, and I can't wait to come back!

Good place for brunch with multiple options in both savory and sweet. I liked their Burrata salad very fresh and crab sandwich was also very good with sweet crab pesto in a brioche bread. Don’t miss their Chocolate cake!

Stopped by Côte Quest Bistro for brunch and was impressed all around. The bread was perfectly crisp, the French onion soup came out hot and loaded with cheesy goodness, and the crème brûlée was absolutely fantastic. Service was friendly and efficient, and we were seated quickly. I’d recommend making a reservation, though, as the place fills up fast.

Good food and fast service. Big serves. I could not finish the salad, mussels, chips and bread. Bread was free and fresh. Staff seemed happy. I went in at open time, 11.30am, on a Wednesday. It was 70% full by 12pm.

My favorite French bistro in the city! My friend took me here for brunch last weekend, and I loved it so much that I came back the following weekend to try their dinner — and it did not disappoint. We had oysters, escargot, miso cod, and crème brûlée — everything was excellent. The escargot was rich and garlicky, the miso cod perfectly cooked and flavorful, and the crème brûlée had the perfect crackly top. We also enjoyed some Kir Royales, which added a festive touch to the evening. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy, elegant spot with consistently great food.

We had a wonderful meal start to finish. From the moment the owner greeted us warmly we felt like we had made a great choice. Our reservation was honored and we were seated promptly and the staff and owner came over to us throughout the meal to make sure we had everything we needed. We shared the onion soup that was spectacular and the summer salad and the cauliflower with grapefruit and goat cheese was another stand out. I had the sole fish special which was moist and flavorful and might partner loved her pork chop. And we finished with the warm chocolate desert that was incredible. The atmosphere inside is lively and fun and everything about the evening here was memorable. Can't wait to return.

I recommend this place for the atmosphere the service and the food was good. I took a mussels with French fries. I was a bit disappointed by the quantity of mussels in my plate. But I least it was very good, the French fries has been served with big portion. I took a glass of rose Bandol which was good. The staff were very warming and professional. I felt to me in France during one dinner. Moreover there is no 20% of charge or 6% mandate SF added to the check and this item make this place very different and special.

We went here for brunch, and ordered their crab sandwich special, mushroom omelette, and devilled eggs. Our food was delicious and the staff were very nice. But more specifically, we loved their homemade chips and the crab sandwich was phenomenal so make sure to try it while they have it. 👌🏻 The cappuccino I ordered was a bit watered down, and the deviled eggs were a bit too salty but the mushroom omelette was good. Overall, we loved our meal and will be back again!

The café is known for its breakfast burritos, Italian crepes with savory sausages, generous cheese and veggie portions, as well as tasty chicken tenders. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff are friendly and accommodating.
We decided to give this brunch place a try since it’s few blocks from our place and we had a great experience here. My husband ordered breakfast burritos and I got Italian crepe which is savory crepe with Italian sausages with generous amount of cheeses and veggies. I really love their dishes were healthy and not overly salty which is the case for many restaurants. Mine was full of flavors and portion was so large that I took the leftover to go to have it next day . My kid got chicken tenders and they were delicious. I am so glad that I’ve found a great brunch place in west Portal and can’t wait to try some sweet crepes next time !

Came for breakfast/brunch. Greta location right outside the muni station. Was easily able to get a table and staff was friendly enough. You order at the counter and seat yourself. Good variety of offerings. Iced tea was good and food was decent. Worth a look if your in the area.

My daughter had the chicken parm and liked the chicken. She thought the marinara sauce was too acidic (although, she was expecting more of an Italian style sauce, and it just was more of an American style). I had the French onion soup and traditional sliders. French onion soup was too salty (1 out of 5). The slider patties were very small relative to the slider buns. Patties were way overcooked. Dry, dry, dry. Ambiance is fine — typical for this style of casual cafe restaurant. Service is poor — Servers never checked back in after dropping off the food. They do not offer any follow-ups.

There are plenty of open seats for a Saturday. We ordered the tuna melt, Angus Burger, Mac & Cheese, and scramble eggs, sausage, and pancakes. Portions were fairly larger. The burger had a nice charred flavor, a very thick patty. Perfect amount of food for me. Fries were crispy yet soft on the inside. The Mac & Cheese has choppy green onions with it.

Great portions, great flavor. This was a great food options. We stopped in for breakfast. This place is close enough to San Bruno to make the trip worthwhile. We had a couple omelette's and a crepe. Every thing was delicious. One of the omelette options was with house potatoes and the other with a side salad. The crepe was full of flavors and came with an ice cream scoop on the side.

Lou's Cafe is a contemporary coffeehouse located in Richmond, offering a unique experience of designing your own sandwiches with upgraded twists on classics. The family-run cafe is known for its delicious subs, featuring a variety of fillings such as hot pastrami brisket and house-made marinara-covered meatballs. Visitors praise the efficiency and friendliness of the staff, as well as the affordability of the high-quality sandwiches.
If you are luckily enough to come across Lou's order the Original Breakfast Sandwich with the special sauce and jalepeno spread. We went back the next day because it was just that good. Nothing fancy but great service and amazing sandwiches.

Parking: street parking. The store looks a little old outside. Prices are about average and the portions are good. Food: ordered breakfast sandwich, very tasty especially the bread is easy to chew. Personally don't like hard bread crusts. The sandwich has good amount of fillings, which I don't just taste plain bread. Maybe coming back to try one with their special sauce.

Came here on various occasions for sandwiches. Tried multiple on their massive menu and all were so good! Recently tried the Ultimate Club & Hot Links. Their special sauce pulls everything together and the bread they use is top tier. I do not tend to eat bread products in general, but in Lou’s sandwiches I do!!! They get busy during lunchtime so be prepared to wait or can call in for your order. Will try more things on their menu next time!

The sandwiches blew my mind, they were divine, they perfected it, every ingredient, every step, they did it perfectly. These sandwiches are extremely worth the price. I would recommend this to friends and family. This place is small and the staff are talkative and motivated. They know how to make a sandwich.

I ordered the chicken pesto, my boyfriend had the risky business, and his sister grabbed the bbq chicken. We all went silent while eating! THE BEST SANDWICHES I've HAD IN A REALLY LONG TIME! I was so full from the first half that I had to save it for the next day and I was so excited to eat it.

Stumbled upon this place right before exploring Golden Gate Park. So happy we did. Seriously the best sandwich of my life. Small establishment with amazing efficiency. Workers were getting killed but they kept smiling and making delicious sandwiches. We all got different sandwiches. Pesto chicken was amazing. My son devoured the buffalo chicken. I got a cranberry turkey that was mind blowing. It made the rose garden an even more special experience. SUPER affordable for the product received. Only regret is I don’t know when I’ll have this again. Colorado loves great sandwiches ;) Definitely recommend!!!

Nestled in the charming Outer Sunset, Judahlicious is a delightful beach cafe that focuses on serving up locally sourced, organic delights. This vibrant spot specializes in raw and vegan offerings, making it an ideal destination for health-conscious foodies. Their menu boasts a variety of options including refreshing acai bowls, hearty house chili, and gluten-free Belgian-style waffles.
YUM. As a health food-oriented vegan, I’m can be so choosy that there’s usually only a couple dishes that entice me even at vegan restaurants. But at Judahlicious, I had a tough time deciding what to get because almost every single item on the menu sounded AMAZING. The raw section - wow. (Always a good sign when there’s a raw section.) The smoothie section - crazy. The hot food section really spoke to me, and I went with the 1/2 nekked burrito. I’m not entirely sure why it was named that way, but it was basically the perfect burrito. I opted for the corn tortilla, which was thick and delicious and homemade. Absolutely loved the black beans, brown rice(!!), grilled veggies, and cashew creme (made with olive oil!) and the mixed green salad topped with delicious walnut parmesan rounded it out into the perfect meal. Satisfying and filling in a light, healthy way. Cannot wait to come back here hopefully soon (and really enjoyed visiting Other Avenues Grocery Cooperative right around the corner).

Judahlicious – San Francisco Amid the clamor of Judah Street, Judahlicious stands firm—an unshaken outpost of nourishment and quiet benevolence. We arrived early, seeking breakfast not just to fill the stomach, but to greet the day with intention. The Waffle Açaí was both hearty and refreshing, marrying the crisp warmth of waffles with the chilled vigor of açaí—a contrast that, like life, balances sweet with substance. The Nekked Burrito reminded us that food need not be overcomplicated to be fulfilling. Unadorned yet complete, it offered grounding flavors wrapped in simplicity. We shared the Velvet smoothie—banana, peanut butter, and oat milk—a drink that held the dignity of restraint, yet soothed like an old truth rediscovered. While we dined, a man without a home asked for juice. It was granted without fuss or spectacle. In that quiet act, there was more nourishment than any menu could hold. Judahlicious feeds body, mind, and, on occasion, spirit.

Judahlicious is a true standout in San Francisco’s Sunset District, especially for anyone seeking vibrant, plant-based cuisine. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the welcoming vibe and earthy aesthetic that mirrored their commitment to conscious eating. The flavors in every dish I tried were both bold and beautifully balanced. Whether you're vegan, plant-curious, or just love great food, Judahlicious is worth the visit. Fresh, flavorful, and ethical what more could you want <3

100% vegan!! This place is really really good! Their Nekked Burrito is yum! Waffles and Açaí Bowls are super yummy and healthy! We tried their new menu item “burmosa” which is supposed to be a Samosa Burrito… however don’t recommend eating that. It does not taste like Samosa at all .. I would stick to other items on their menu.

This place was awesome. If you are vegan and want a good variety of healthy food, this place is great. Definitely recommend. It’s in a more quiet and residential location of San Francisco so parking is not too difficult to find. The service was good and friendly and the food seemed fresh. Good, filling portions as well.

TLDR: one item was decent but the other was very bland and an expensive dessert The rice bowl was pretty tasty though a bit one note in flavor. As for the burrito, it looks like a good plate of food but honestly it was very bland. On top of that, we got a $7 raspberry square and it tasted like an expensive granola bar, highly not worth it.

Vietnamese restaurant
Bodega SF, formerly known as Bodega Bistro, has made a comeback in San Francisco with an upscale ambiance and a focus on Northern Vietnamese cuisine. The restaurant features a stylish interior with wooden accents and offers a lunch menu catering to the downtown crowd, featuring dishes like beef pho and bun cha. Dinner options include signature dishes such as caviar-topped banh khot and braised short rib.
The ambiance is nice and suitable for dates or gatherings with friends. The only downside is that it can be a bit noisy. We enjoyed everything we ordered for dinner, which were elevated versions of traditional Vietnamese dishes: * Banh Beo: Steamed rice cakes that were soft and chewy, topped with fresh and sweet Hokkaido uni (sea urchin) and dried shrimp. * Nom: A green papaya salad with beef jerky, which added a nice layer of flavor. * Bun Cha: Braised pork belly with a slightly sweet and very savory flavor. Eating it wrapped in lettuce cuts through the richness. * Banh Cuon: Similar to rice noodle rolls, with a generous amount of filling. * Beef Pho: This is an off-menu item, but you can order it separately. It's a large bowl for $9. The portions were larger than we expected.
Joanne Z — Google review
This restaurant is quite fancy in the town. The food here is really good and presented in a very fancy manner. You might find it a little bit pricey but the portion sizes are quite large and it’s a good experience if you go with your friends or your workmates. I personally liked the lamb chops a lot, but everything is really good and has a very unique take on Vietnamese food.
Deepayan B — Google review
Bodega SF is hands down one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I’ve experienced in the Bay Area. The moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels vibrant yet relaxed — warm lighting, modern décor, and an energy that strikes the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable. It’s the kind of place where every detail feels intentional, from the presentation to the music selection. The food absolutely exceeded expectations. The Bún Chả Hà Nội was the standout — beautifully grilled pork with that perfect smoky char, paired with fresh herbs and vermicelli noodles that brought all the flavors together. It was so good I ended up ordering another portion to go! Every dish felt thoughtfully executed, from the oysters topped with roe to the beef carpaccio — each bite layered with balance and depth. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the pacing of the meal made it easy to enjoy every dish at its best. You can tell the kitchen puts a lot of pride into both authenticity and presentation. Bodega SF nails what an elevated Vietnamese dining experience should be: familiar comfort food elevated with precision and creativity. This is easily a place I’ll keep coming back to — and one I’d recommend to anyone who appreciates exceptional food and atmosphere done right. Additionally, there’s close by parking on mason its $25.

From the moment you walk in, you know it's going to be special! The ambiance is sleek, modern, and so nice. Highly recommend to make a reservation to avoid taking a chance. The staffs are all so friendly and attentive, which is always appreciated. Now, let's talk about their drinks - love the use of Asian inspired flavors like pandan, mango, Jasmine, chrysanthemum, etc. All of their drinks are so good but my favorite was Mango OT. You wouldn't be able to tell it's alcoholic because it's just that tasty. The Flaming Lotus came with a little fire show, which actually added a really nice scent to the overall drink - also so delicious! Their food is top notch so yes, it may seem over priced but I find it so worth it. The beef carpaccio has such a great crunch and flavor that you'll be wanting more. Their truffle crab fried rice had huge chunks of truffle and the masago they add to the fried rice is such a nice touch for the popping texture and ocean flavor to the dish. Will be back again soon!

We visited this restaurant based on a friend’s recommendation. The food was tasty, the atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, and most of the staff were kind and attentive. Unfortunately, our evening was ruined by the host, Bakie. From the moment we walked in, she greeted us with an unfriendly expression and seated us in a hidden corner with no warmth at all. Throughout the night, we saw her walking around the restaurant smiling and chatting with other tables, but with us she kept a cold, unwelcoming attitude. We did nothing to deserve such treatment, and it made us feel singled out and uncomfortable. We truly hope the owner takes action to improve this part of the service. It’s a shame, because this could have been a 5-star experience, but the host’s behavior forced us to take away 3 stars.

Disappointed. Heard of the good reviews but our experience was not good. We came on a weekday for lunch. Of course no reservations. We were led to a table that is small and closest to the restroom while almost all the tables were empty. The entire restaurant only had two tables working including ours for the majority of our dinning period. The rice roll with mushrooms was good but the beef pho was unexpectedly terrible. Meat was given generously but doesn’t taste well/ fresh - it was hard to chew and had this weird taste that usually goes with stale food. It’s hard to believe a Vietnamese restaurant cannot get the pho right. Might be the worst I have tried so far. Alongside that, we have been waiiiiiting all the time. Waited 30mins ish for the pho to come and waited 30mins for the check. We tried to make eye contact but they won’t look at you. Not every friendly to working people who just want to get a quick lunch and go. Won’t come back again given the food, service and location….

Fun night out with some delicious Italian food. We started with the tuna crudo. It was good although could have had a bit more flavor/acidity. We then moved onto the steak tartar. It had a delicious salsa verde sauce! To finish off the meal we had the handkerchief pasta and seared scallops. Incredible San Francisco restaurant!!

Kat was the best server I have had in a long time. That goes even before she found my bracelet and stored it for safe keeping. Her upbeat attitude, quick and effective service, and proper recommendations helped us have an incredible night. Not to mention the food was DELICIOUS. I’ve never had a white bolognese before, now I can’t stop craving it. We also shared the octopus as an appetizer and it was prepared perfectly. Even those in my group reluctant to eat it went back for seconds. Most of the staff seemed to really care about the work they were doing. When our heater went out, it was quickly refilled with a new propane tank. Lost my bracelet? No worries, Kat’s attentive eye found it for me and the ethical staff kept it in safe keeping for me. Our crew only received a tiny bit of attitude from the host upon arrival. Maybe she was just having a bad night. No matter, the rest of the evening was perfect. Thank you again, Kat!

I had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at The Pearl 6101 in San Francisco. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The Japanese sweet potatoes were an unexpected standout, perfectly roasted with a caramelized edge that made them both comforting and elegant. The kampachi crudo was bright and fresh, with a delicate balance of flavors that let the fish shine. The scallops were seared to perfection, tender and buttery, while the lamb pasta was rich, deeply flavorful, and one of the most satisfying pasta dishes I’ve had in a long time. You can tell the kitchen puts real care and creativity into every plate. What made the evening even more special was the exceptional service. Our waiter was incredibly kind, attentive, and knowledgeable, the kind of service that makes you feel genuinely taken care of without ever being intrusive. From start to finish, The Pearl delivered a warm, refined, and memorable dining experience. I can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Came here for dinner on a weekday. Food was great, ambience was amazing and excellent service! Tried a variety of menu items, drinks and a dessert. Everything was very yummy and gorgeous plating. Only slight concern was the clam spaghetti. We were spitting up clam shell remnants for a while after finishing the entree. This dampened our experience a bit as it was a slight annoyance from an upscale restaurant. Overall, would come back to the other menu items but might avoid the clam spaghetti from now on.

Excellent place. Seems like a great neighborhood gem. The only downside is the parking, but that goes for almost any place in San Francisco. The food was wonderful, the atmosphere was inviting, and the service was excellent throughout the evening. Getting a reservation wasn’t difficult. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area! The crudo is absolutely amazing. The oysters are wonderful too. The drinks were well worth it!

Finally came by for my partners birthday after friends have been raving about this spot for months. We made a reservation but came 30 min early and they were able to seat us (it was a tuesday). I’ve heard this place gets pretty busy on the weekends. I love a small menu, you know everything is going to be really well done. We split oysters, crudo, shrimp, and pasta between two people and were full. Everything was flavorful and dynamic. This is definitely a spot you’re going to eat at for a few hours. Dishes came out one by one and we often waited 5-10 minutes between them. They had a range of cocktails on their menu and we each enjoyed one and capped the night off with an espresso martini. The whole space is well decorated, it’s a great place to eat at night with the low lighting. I look forward to coming back and seeing how the menu changes.

Turtle Tower is a Vietnamese restaurant with three locations in San Francisco, offering affordable and delicious cuisine. The simply decorated space serves up inexpensive Vietnamese noodles, soups, and favorite dishes. Their golden-fried imperial rolls are a must-try at $2.50 each. The specialty here is the beef pho, featuring rich broth and noodles with thinly sliced rare steak. What sets Turtle Tower apart is its Hanoi-style pho with a light chicken-based broth instead of the traditional beef base.
Dropped in for a hangover cure and ended up having the best pho I've ever had. I'm glad they didn't have hoisin sauce for me to desecrate their perfect recipe, for once I was blind but now I see. So perfectly balanced with fantastic thick noodles and rich broth. 10/10 knocked my socks off

This is my favorite chicken pho place. Never had the beef pho, but it looks really good too. Very light and tasty broth. Thick noodles. Service is standard for this type of restaurant. All staff was pleasant enough. I try to come here whenever I visit the city.

Hands down the best Pho in San Francisco. Broth is rich and silky. The stir fried noodle with vegetable and chicken or beef is a unique take on a traditional favorite. Whenever it's raining, or I'm sick, or just back from a hot beach vacation and want a reminder of what I love about San Francisco, I come to Turtle Tower or get takeout. It's the best Pho in the West. Very busy at lunchtime so plan ahead or just get takeout.

All you need is LOVE! But, sometimes, after a long day... all you need is Pho. And that place can deliver a good and authentic Pho like no other in that area. Go for the beefy beef Pho (No. 4 in the menu) or for the chicken noodles (No. 9 in the menu). Comfort food at it's best!! 🍜

Perfect comfort food!! The food was very, VERY well served, delicious and super quickly served, super great pricing! I highly recommend them for anytime of the day or any day! We had from the pho menu #1 and #4 both well done and size large, two orders of the fresh spring rolls as well a bahn-mi sandwich which they let you pick any 3 filling choices which is rarely offered. This was all for a family of four, we now know we could have done without one of the soups and would have still been more than plenty(yet still no regrets, yummy leftovers not complaining). All in all we spent about $12 per person but with 8dlls is more than enough if you are 2 people order a large and get a side dish and share!
Elisa C — Google review
Turtle Tower serves Northern style pho. So don’t expect herbs, bean sprouts or hoisin sauce here. Because those additions are Southern style pho. We seated at 11:15am ish, ordered and got pho like 2 minutes after ordering! The bowls are huge and true authentic taste of Northern Vietnamese pho. The noodle is wide and not skinny, soft and not chewy, no herbs or hoisin sauce except chilies. Highly recommended that you order chicken pho, which is a Northern delicacy and not offered at many other pho restaurants. Parking can be a problem during peak traffic hours as it’s street parking only around the vicinity.

Nothing special. First pho restaurant I've been to in a long time that didn't give Brussels sprouts with the soup. The beef used also wasn't good quality, and noodles used weren't Vietnamese rice noodles (and also overcooked). There was also ginger chunks in the broth which was weird.

Fiorella Sunset, a popular Italian eatery in San Francisco's Outer Richmond neighborhood, has been fulfilling high expectations since its opening in 2016. The restaurant is known for its springy and perfectly charred pizza crusts and an ever-changing selection of pies that never fail to surprise. Despite being packed most of the time, Fiorella offers patio seating and rooftop space with built-in heaters, a retractable roof, and high walls to ensure comfort regardless of the weather.
Wow! Loved this spot and will be coming back. Their meatballs were incredible. You can tell that they care a lot about the flavor and textures into their dishes. I booked reservations in OpenTable was super convenient. They don’t take gratuity on our 6 person table. Also plus points for their themed Bay Area legends and locations wallpaper.

Everything was amazing. Nona's Meatballs were ALMOST as good as my Nona's!!!!!! Rich and flavorful and NOT dry. I got the Mushroom pizza because it was on Every table! And it was divine. And if you ask...they have a homemade dill ranch to dip - as my son said delightfully- "This is the BEST pizza crust I have ever had!" and at 15 years old...that's a lot of pizza. My son said it was tender and soft and not burned but also chewy enough to keep it interesting. Kind of like Indian Na'an bread. And my daughter and I split the salad w carrots and fennel and it was fresh and simple and tender. The customer service was outstanding. They lifted her 150 lb special needs stroller up the stairs, sat us w o a reservation, brought me paper napkins because wven though I had her apron, she still was a bit messy (blind). Highly recommend.

Can get a bit loud and on Wednesday they have some family specials and there might be more kids than usual.(fyi-in case you are planning a date) great place for kids though, wide selection and good deal on Wednesdays.

Came here last week for a dinner and the food was just fantastic. The chocolate dessert item, whatever it is called, was incredible. And then after that positive experience, we went and got take out pizza, and manager Maddie went above and beyond to make sure our pickup was smooth and seamless. The pizza was delicious! We will be back for more!

Visited on a Friday night and was able to walk in at 5:15 for a table. Very kind friendly staff and cozy casual atmosphere! Service was fast, drinks and food came out very quickly but they got busier as the evening went on. It did take awhile to receive dessert and check. The pasta and pizza was delicious. The pizza is a soft soggy type of crust, not my fav but food still had great flavors. Chocolate sorbet was very rich and balanced out with pistachios.

Good Good Culture Club is a vibrant and airy spot with a colorful interior and a rooftop terrace. The restaurant, led by Liholiho Yacht Club chef Ravi Kapur and his talented team, offers creative comfort food and cocktails. The menu features aromatic and inventive dishes inspired by Asian flavors, such as catfish in house-made green curry and ribeye yakitori with five-spice glaze. There are also gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and dairy-free options available.
So much yumminess here! Bright, delicious flavors and fresh dishes. Came as wall-ins and we were able to sit at the community table, which was fine. Still had lots of space and it wasn’t cramped. Next time will make a reservation so we can be by the windows. The shrimp salad is excellent — definitely worth ordering.

Had SUCH a great evening here!!! We ordered a ton of, service was awesome, and drinks were delish! The chicken wing, fried sole, and skirt steak were to DIE FOR!!! Highly recommend. Also was treated to some yummy Thai tea ice cream as an anniversary treat!
Josh R — Google review
Great atmosphere and friendly service - got seated at the bar without reservation. However, food quality was disappointing on both visits. The Positive: The Chips & Dips sauce was excellent. Rock Paper Scissorz cocktail was well-made (rum/pandan). Lively vibe, accommodating staff. The Negative: Crispy Pig Ears were burnt and nearly inedible - hard shell with little meat inside. Sizzling Beef was mostly bean sprouts with minimal beef. The appetizers were okay, but the main dish fell short of expectations. Service and atmosphere are solid, but kitchen execution needs improvement. Would consider returning only if food quality improves.
Cantik — Google review
Very mediocre food. Seems like a Thai place but all the flavors are just so American. The stuffed chicken wing is just like the sweet buffalo wings with some strange stuffing. Pork ribs is again covered by sauce that is too sweet. Pork jowl and skirt steak is okay. Fried sole is an another bummer. The fired dishes all have unbelievably thick and soggy coating. The grilled mushroom is dry and not flavorful at all. The portion size is also very small given the price. Not worth the visit. Basically an elevated Panda Express — yea only elevated in the price though.
Yuang D — Google review
Came here to celebrate my anniversary. Overall, the food was good, though it didn’t exactly wow me. We ordered the pork riblets, jewelry rice, and chicken wings, but the standout dish was definitely the grilled skirt steak — tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The happy hour drinks were also a highlight — we enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine for just $9 each, which felt like a great deal. A nice spot with solid food and excellent drink specials
Carmen A — Google review
We attempted to make reservations online, and while the only options were rooftop seating, as walk ins we lucked out to be seated inside (which we appreciated for warmth, but also was very loud). The tuna tataki and sprouted cauliflower were the highlights, but we felt that some of the vegetarian options are better described as sides, than vegetarian dishes (the jewelry rice for example). Overall, it was a good experience but nothing mind blowing.

Good Good Culture Club is the sister restaurant of one of our favorite spots, Liholiho Yacht Club, but unfortunately it doesn’t quite measure up. The food is less interesting and portions are smaller. The atmosphere was extremely loud—almost unbearable for a Tuesday night. I suspect the loud music pushes people to talk louder, which then makes everyone else raise their voices even more, creating a noisy feedback loop. I’d recommend avoiding the chicken wings. They’re coated in a hard shell of syrup, and the inside is bland and flavorless. The rest of the dishes were ok. While it’s not a bad place to try once—especially if you live nearby—I won’t be coming back.

Lily is a laid-back restaurant that serves traditional Vietnamese cuisine, such as sandwiches, soups, and spring rolls. Located in the Richmond area, this upscale spot offers dishes made with luxurious ingredients. The menu features rich pho with oxtail and bone marrow, shaking beef salad with tender filet mignon and watermelon radishes, and Vietnamese iced coffee topped with salted duck egg foam. The atmosphere is comfortable yet formal, providing an enjoyable dining experience.
Everything was amazing. You could close your eyes and point to anything on the menu and it would be good. The restaurant was beautifully put together and had a fun and lively atmosphere. Super clean too. The service was prompt and attentive. Really excellent overall. We got the shaking beef salad, egg rolls, pork belly rice paper rolls, garlic shrimp noodles, and mussels shared family style. We finished it off with banana bread pudding and rainbow shave ice. 10/10 every dish was amazing.

The food is delicious, and some dishes have a French touch that works well. The duck spring roll is a must. The drinks are not your regular drinks; they are super interesting and worth trying. The service is attentive. I highly recommend making reservations.

What a delightful restaurant - one of our favorites in the city! The food and beverages are so fresh, so high quality, with wonderful attention to the little details. The service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is upscale yet relaxed and inviting at the same time. I always love coming here! Try the lunch special!
Jessy C — Google review
Let me begin by saying Lily is excellent and I look forward to many future meals there. That said, if you charge a 20% service fee on already high prices I’m going to judge you differently. Food: - The carpaccio and garlic noodles are near perfect examples. Duck egg rolls are delightful. - Bun cha is good not great. - Pork chop was unevenly cooked. Delicious on the ends but dry in the middle. The composition of the plate didn’t make a lot of sense. Rice in broth, if good, could’ve just been rice. Meatloaf was confusing and there was no veg. Service: - overall slow, timing in between dishes felt longer than it needed to be. - I was a little put off that each glass of wine was poured on a food scale. That felt like overkill (and I wasn’t even drinking). Just hire someone that can pour a glass of wine. - For all the precision that went into the wine pouring, when the appetizer plates were cleared the dirty silverware was left on the table. If you’re going to bother changing the plates, take the silverware too. Like I said, I had a great time and the food is delicious. It’s easily one of the better spots on Clement for an upscale atmosphere, but the price to quality ratio feels a bit off.

Came for the excellent early girl dinner menu, was really wowed by the non-alc drink selection (salted plum and lime is tasty!) and great value for money of this menu. Highlights were the spicy vibrance of the mango rice paper salad and the really interesting black coconut banh xeo. It's a little unlike your usual banh xeos, more starchy and earthy with the mushrooms and taro, but greatly balanced by the herbs and sauce. The warm banana bread pudding was also exceptional -- crispy bread pudding sides contrasting with a salty miso caramel and cold ice cream. Don't miss this! Heritage pork dish was also tasty with sweet-savoury meatballs and smokey bacon. Would absolutely come back and sit at the counter again!

Lily is a gem on Clement Street. The pho and oxtail are incredible, and it's easy to see why. The flavors are rich and vibrant—with fresh ingredients that honors timeless Vietnamese recipes cooked to perfection.
Jahan H — Google review
I had one of the better dining experiences I've had in SF in a long time at Lily, and it wasn't because everything was flawless – it was because of how they handled the few bumps in the road. There is a sense that this place is a beloved neighborhood spot; we saw plenty of regulars being greeted like friends. It’s always a good sign when the owner (who I presume was the gentleman we interacted with most) clearly enjoys his job and genuinely loves interacting with his guests. We happened to be dining during the Clement Street Farmers Market, and we even witnessed him step out to buy fresh fruit directly from the vendors. Pretty cool! Now, for the "bumps." We did receive the wrong order twice. But here's where they truly shined: The staff was incredibly nice and apologetic about the mix-up. Without us asking, they comped one of the incorrect dishes and, to our delight, gifted us a delicious dessert at the end of our meal. They showed genuine care for our experience. Lily isn't just serving great food but delivering an experience built on warmth and outstanding hospitality. I can't recommend it enough!

The menu at Lily restaurant is a true culinary masterpiece. Each dish I tried was expertly crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients that burst with flavor. The attention to detail in every plate was evident, and I appreciated the chef's creativity in creating unique and delicious flavor combinations. The wine list was extensive, offering a wide selection to pair with the meal. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and passionate about the cuisine, making excellent recommendations and ensuring that every need was met. The service was prompt yet attentive, allowing me to fully enjoy my dining experience without feeling rushed. If you're looking for a truly exceptional dining experience in San Francisco, Lilly restaurant is an absolute must-visit.

Burmese Kitchen is a cozy and casual restaurant that offers traditional Burmese cuisine, including their specialty tea leaf salad. It's a favorite spot for those seeking home-cooked comfort food and is highly recommended for vegetarians and vegans. Unlike other Burmese restaurants in the area, it closely resembles the authentic flavors of Myanmar. Some popular dishes include Tamarind Fish with Coconut Rice, Tea Leaf Salad, Tamarind Leaf Salad, B.K.
Burmese native here. This is the BEST Burmese restaurant I've tried so far in the SF/Bay Area. The flavors are authentic and all of the food is made from scratch. I usually try the pork curry as it is a quintessential Burmese dish and the pork curry here was the tenderest pork I have had so far in any restaurant with an aromatic curry base. Their tea leaf salad is also fantastic with a higher ratio of fermented tea and fried peas than most other restaurants. Their coconut rice was also perfectly cooked and they accomplished at making each individual grain perfectly fragranced. We learned from the owner they've been open for more than 18 years. We will definitely be back!

I recently had dinner with my family at this very authentic and charming restaurant in the inner Richmond district. It was on a Wednesday evening, so there was no wait time and they were able to accommodate our large party. The food was very fresh and similar to ones I ate in Southeast Asia. The service was excellent, the food came out very quickly, and was very reasonable. A few of my favorites were the spicy fish, papaya salad, and curry chicken. Thank you for a wonderful meal!
G S — Google review
I've been back here so many times and this place is still by far my favorite Burmese restaurant in the Bay Area. The flavor is very authentic and much closer to what I've had in Myanmar than more well-known popular spots like Burma Superstar and its network. Food highlights: - Chin baung jaw: shrimp sautéed with roselle leaves. Very tangy and delicious--my favorite dish here! Seems like a lot of people don't know this dish, so I would highly recommend it - Tamarind leaf salad: popping with flavor and just a really nice appetizer. Another dish I don't think many Americans know about--try it! - Tea leaf salad: classic and much less lettuce than many fusiony Burmese places here - Balae chaung: this is a side but is a delicious chili accompaniment to your main dishes - Lemongrass beef: very nice, deep flavor that goes well with all the rice types they offer - Sautéed spicy lady finger: the okra is cooked well and goes really well with the sauce mm! - Mohinga: classic fish broth with noodles--my mouth is watering just thinking about it again! These are just a few of the dishes I'd recommend--I've still gotta go back and eventually try the whole menu. Service-wise, the owner and servers that I've met before are so sweet. It feels like a real mom-and-pop shop that cares about their customers. It's a perfect place for a casual dinner or weekend lunch. Really hope this hidden gem is able to get its name out there and compete with the more well-known Burma Superstar and Mandalay!

No clue about authenticity, but the food was unique in a very tasty way. My favorites were the pork with pickled mango, pork with pumpkin, and garlic egg noodles. The staff was also very helpful.
Peter S — Google review
Very friendly and attentive staff. Food was reasonably priced. Tea leaf salad came mixed and was good. Entrees were good. Garlic egg noodles were good and not too salty. Pork with pickled mango was unique and probably my favorite. The prawn and pumpkin was ok but the flavor was mild. Coconut rice was great.

LOVE eating here!! the staff is always so sweet and the food is delicious. The best tea leaf salad i’ve ever had from a Burmese restaurant and I crave the Spicy Fish every single day! Please come here for some delicious food. They also do party trays, we ordered a tray of tea leaf salad for our party and everyone loved it!
Jessica — Google review
Super flavorful and delicious cuisine! I can’t speak to the authenticity since I have little experience trying Burmese food and have never been to Burma, but I can vouch that whatever flavors they served were just out of this world, very unique blend of spices that is hard to describe, mostly savory, some spicy, some tangy. Bursts of flavor is what comes to mind. I was too excited to try one of my favorite items, the tea leaf salad, which did not disappoint although was somewhat different than the usual, less tea leaves and lettuce and more nuts , beans and grains. We also got the ginger spice pork, delicious, the sour leaf bamboo (great if you like sour), the shrimp garlic egg noodle (great fragrant garlicky flavor) and basil fish (fish was unexciting but basil curry sauce interesting). Coconut rice was delicious. For once, I forgot to pay attention to the price, so opinions here are based only on taste without consideration to value. The portions did seem on the smaller size, though, so unless the prices also matched which I sort of doubt m, I would probably have thought this place was on the pricey side, but that’s not confirmed give that I forgot to pay attention to the price. We were there at 5pm when it opened so service was prompt although wasn’t checked upon much. Casual ambience was fine, we had the restaurant to ourselves from beginning to end. Would return if in the area!

Sandy's is a new spot on Haight Street that aims to introduce San Francisco to the classic New Orleans muffuletta. While their take on the sandwich may not be identical to those found in Louisiana, it has quickly become a favorite among locals. The shop offers two incredible variations of the muffuletta, both generously stuffed and delicious. Customers are also looking forward to trying out their upcoming sausage sandwich.
ABSOLUTE MUST-TRY! This was by far the best muffuletta I have ever had! While it is a little pricey, the combo makes it so worth it and it is well worth the price regardless! Cookie are also incredibly delicious too! The staff here were super friendly and attentive. This is a small business and is really pushing the neighborhood forward! I cannot think that I could recommend this place any stronger. Definitely a must-have when visiting San Francisco!

Didn't get their famous muffaletta but tried their egg sandwich and cookie. Cookie was amazing, kinda pricey at $5 but worth it for the size and quality. Egg sandwich, while good, didn't feel like it fully justified the $14 price tag. Not the most complex flavor and just put between two pieces of regular white bread. Even with that though the customer service was great, and if I'm ever around there again I will stop by for a cookie.

Just an FYI - Prices on the wall menu may differ from what you’re being charged. Egg salad & chips combo is $9 on wall menu vs $10 on the receipt. Employees were not aware. Best salmon preparation ever! As you can see in the picture it was very moist. It was well seasoned and seared deliciously. The corn soup was rich and creamy. This refreshing starter sets the stage for a comforting meal featuring favorites like garlic noodles, mohinga, and chicken curry.
The food was amazing and spectacular! The staff were very friendly, the restaurant was warm and cozy, and the food was absolutely delicious. Our first time here, we had the mohinga and the second time we had the tea leaf salad, coconut noodle soup, and the Burmese style chicken kabobs. Both of my experiences at this restaurant have been incredible. The Mohinga and Coconut Noodle Soup are some of the best soups I've had ever, and the Burmese Style Chicken Kebabs are a great lighter curry option. I also had the Burmese Falooda, which was a fantastic way to end my meal. The staff are very friendly and attentive, and were happy to answer the questions we had. They were also happy to accommodate my peanut allergy, so I could enjoy the delicious Tea Leaf Salad. Udon noodle restaurant
Katsuo & Kombu is a must-visit for udon enthusiasts. The curry udon is a standout, featuring wagyu beef, flavorful broth, chewy noodles, heaps of vegetables, and a custardy egg. Arriving early can help beat the crowds. The menu offers both hot and cold udons with generous portions like the huge and crunchy tempura and the viscous creamy texture of the cold grated mountain yam.
Yes yes!!! Found a great udon place! Owner is Japanese and he serves real authentic udon. You might wait a bit, but line moves relatively fast. Definitely coming back here again.
Tess B — Google review
My fave udon in SF - very chill and consistent spot with a variety of hot and cold options. I enjoyed the citrusy flavor in their broth and would recommend adding the yuzu spice seasoning to some of your bites.
Cheryl C — Google review
No line on Thursday evening at 5 pm. It was a bit hard to know what I was gonna get just from the menu but I loved the Yasaj Ten Bukkake. Took me a bit to adjust to the cold broth but The tempura was great.
Alicia D — Google review
Noodles had a great chew with tender pork and umami broth - what’s not to love? I’m usually not the biggest fan of eggplant but had no problem eating the eggplant soaked in the broth. Others at my table tried the cold udon and the tan tan udon and everyone thought it was pretty good! Small dining area means that a line will form outside during busy times (for a Saturday night close to opening time we waited ~30 min) but once you order the food comes out pretty quickly. They are very transparent about trying to get people in as efficiently as possible too so maybe not the best place for a longer meal.
Emma — Google review
We stopped by on the way back from Pacifica and we were in need of some warm soup! I love udon so I wanted to give this place a try, and it looked really cute. We were able to get seated fairly quickly, and we ordered at the counter; water is self-serve. Our food didn’t take too long to arrive. Udon was a little too soft and the kakiage and shrimp could’ve been crispier, but the dashi warmed my freezing hands (SF moment). The sesame broth was rich without feeling coma-inducing. Also the cashier was super nice and she gave me a Kitkat! Parking isn’t metered, which is nice!
Anna — Google review
Unfortunately, not the place for me. Seems to be a popular place with the long line. Server allows one party in at a time to order, and then seats before the next party is allowed to order. I should have checked photos online prior to knows that the kakiage udon (mixed root vegetables) only contains sliced onions & carrots - not worth $18 imo. The texture of the fried coating on the shrimp seemed different from the coating on the veggies. Dashi flavor was not appealing to me. It has a light sour flavor, and also tasted kind of burnt- like the flavor version of acrid smell when you burn some food on a charcoal grill. It’s kind of a mouthwatering smell, but not the right taste. Space is small so I recommend coming with only 1-4 people. The room echoes a lot, so once the seating is full, it’s almost impossible to hear conversation clearly. Seating is backless stools so there is no place to hang things, but they offer floor baskets for large bags.
Alicia C — Google review
I wanted to like this place more than I did. The noodles are a bit thin and flimsy and the broth isn't flavorful. There are better places for udon in the city
Daniel P — Google review
Love this restaurant. It seems like run by a family. It is a small shop specializing with udon. We came to have to go order. We ordered tempura, Kaikage, and shrimp tempura. The shrimp tempura is so yummy and looks like they use larger shrimp and not the white shrimp. All is yummy and still crunchy after we arrive at home. We will visit again to have the udon. You can park on the street. Parking could be a challenge.

I have celiac so I was nervous when my office chose a sandwich spot for a catered lunch, but when I called mission picnic they assured me they could make my sandwich on gluten free bread and would follow appropriate procedures to prevent cross contamination. My sandwich came packed in a separate bag apart from the items with gluten and was marked “gluten free” in multiple places. I felt really safe and the sandwich was great!

lovely spot in the mission full of smiling employees and delicious food! stopped by mission picnic to grab lunch in the middle of the workday—it was hard picking between their menu options but the employees gave me recommendations and even told me about their personal favorites :-). ended up going with the picnic club based on their recs and am floored at how tasty this sandwich is (may be one of my fav sandwiches in the mission)! super well balanced in freshness and savory-ness, and the bread holds up super well to the sandwich without being too bready or hard to bite on the outside. honestly, this sandwich was perfect, and I would easily come back for it every time. service was quick, and they even gave us some free cookies to go with our lunch ❤️. highly recommend giving mission picnic a try if you’re in the neighborhood :-).

Great sandwich shop in the mission !! Friendly staff, quick service and a cool modern atmosphere... Unless you want to take your sandwich to go, to Delores which is close by. I tried the vegan sandwich and it was super tasty!! Highly recommend this spot if you are in the mission

Clean, fast service at lunch time. Love that the menu has vegan items labeled! I had the Planter and it was great. Turmeric chickpeas is not something I've seen in a vegan sandwich before and it was really great. Lots of perfectly fresh avocado! The only thing I'd change is the bread. It was a little dry.

Blue Whale Restaurant & Lounge offers a welcoming and sophisticated ambiance, with beautifully presented delicious food. The charming backyard area with lush greenery provides a relaxing dining experience, while the cozy bar is tended by a friendly bartender. The overall atmosphere, food quality, and service make for an unforgettable visit. Additionally, the restaurant's proximity to a large parking garage ensures convenience for diners.
We shared tiger prawns, I had shrimp dumplings, hubby had pork and truffle soup dumplings. He can't stop talking about them. Great cocktails, cute bunny shaped panna cotta for dessert. We can't wait to go back!

Met a friend for dinner here last night and had a fantastic meal. Started with a cocktail at the bar which is well stocked and my 'Old Fashioned' was perfectly made. We had the Duck Salad, the Thai Chicken, Veggie Rice and Beef Dumplings. We enjoyed every dish but the Duck Salad was my favorite dish of the night. The main dining room was active but quiet enough to have easy conversations. If you're looking for a healthy, artfully-plated, upscale Chinese restaurant, this is your place.

Such a fantastic experience at Blue Whale for dinner tonight. Arrived early and grabbed a cocktail in the bar: cocktail menu is diverse with exciting flavors and ingredients and my selection was absolutely beautiful (and delicious). Seated in elegant dining room I noticed similar attention to detail in design from Empress by Boon— brushed brass and blue velvet with thoughtful lighting. A beautiful space. Our server Ashley was truly outstanding— recommendations for wine pairings, portions and coursing were all spot-on. She really made it a memorable experience for us. Food was amazing we ordered the duck salad, truffle XLB (wow!), pumpkin puffs, sea bass and duck noodles. Every dish was not only favourful and exciting but also beautifully plated and fun. Cannot wait to come back— so refreshing to have a fine dining experience with friendly staff, great portions and good cocktails!!

I don't know why this restaurant isn't packed! In addition to the more well known duck salad, the seafood noodles (not pictured) are must-order - the broth is bright in color and flavor, bringing out the prawn, noodles are the perfect texture, a very well rounded, balanced dish. We had to order a second bowl for the table! Other restaurants here and abroad tend to go overboard with competing flavors, the seafood is lost, not so at Blue Whale. Staff are all friendly, they time their visits perfectly. I'm not a big drinker but the new Yellow Submarine cocktail is 10/10!

Bought DoorDash delivery. Food that I got was decently good (7.5/10), except for the 4-inch duck bone that I choked on 💀 Bag was pretty. No utensils or napkins came w the order… weird If i ever go in-person, i’ll update this review to include my new experience.
Illan W — Google review
This restaurant is a hidden gem. The signature duck salad lives up to its reputation—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The standout for me was the roasted sea bass, slow-cooked to an excellent texture and full of depth. I later learned the chef previously worked at Hakkasan, which shows in the execution. My friend especially enjoyed the truffle dumplings, which had delicate wrappers and a rich truffle aroma. The wasabi prawns added a sharp, satisfying kick. For drinks, we tried the zen kooler, whale’s tale, high noon—both well-presented and solid in taste, with an Instagram-worthy appeal. Considering the overall quality of the food and the atmosphere, the final bill was a pleasant surprise. A 10/10 experience—I’ll definitely return when I’m back in the area.
Susie L — Google review
I made a reservation for two, but upon arrival, we were seated in a location that felt uncomfortably positioned in the midst of heavy foot traffic, which detracted from the overall dining experience. Unfortunately, our server appeared noticeably curt and disengaged, giving the impression that our presence was more of an inconvenience than a welcome. The food itself was passable, but given the elevated price point and the underwhelming service, it’s unlikely I’ll be returning in the future.
Amy D — Google review
Blue Whale is a hidden gem of a pan-Asian fusion restaurant—stylish, welcoming, and consistently underrated. We’re always surprised it’s not more packed, but that just makes it all the more enjoyable for those of us who’ve discovered it. On our latest visit, we brought our fur baby along and enjoyed the spacious outdoor seating surrounded by lush tropical plants. The atmosphere felt relaxed and vibrant, and the staff, as always, were warm and genuinely hospitable. The food here strikes a perfect balance between comforting and elevated. We started with their crab soup, which arrived piping hot, brimming with flavor and generously loaded with sweet, tender crabmeat. The xiao long bao were next—delicate, juicy, and filled with a rich, savory broth that burst with each bite. Their soft-shell crab was a standout: perfectly crispy on the outside while retaining that delicate seafood flavor inside. We also tried the seafood noodles, which were fresh, well-textured, and spiced just enough to give them a kick without overwhelming the palate. The cocktails, too, were thoughtfully crafted and well-balanced. Blue Whale continues to impress us with its thoughtful dishes and laid-back charm. It’s the kind of place you keep coming back to—and we certainly will.

Burmese restaurant
Ar Har Ya is a delightful gem that offers an unforgettable experience with its unique tea leaf salad, featuring perfectly hard-boiled eggs sliced into delicate slivers. This addition not only enhances the creaminess of the dish but also balances the tangy flavor of the fermented tea leaves. Whether you prefer your salad mixed or kept separate, Ar Har Ya caters to your taste. The ambiance feels like stepping into a warm home, where you're greeted by friendly smiles and enticing aromas of authentic Burmese cuisine.
We had a delicious Burmese lunch of spicy beef curry over the most delicious coconut rice. Three flavors were amazing and we cleaned every inch of our plates. The proprietors were very welcoming and friendly and happy to tell us about the food and more. Please give this gem some love.

Great Burmese food in Fidi. Try the soups. This primarily takeout restaurant only has a couple tables and you'll be eating or sharing from takeout containers, but the food is what you're here for. The husband and wife are such kind people and they care about the food and customers. Note that the tea leaf salad is good, but some may think the tea leaf flavor may be a little on the light side. Watch out for the serrano peppers too.

🌎 Follow for more honest reviews around the world 🌎 5 🌟 coming from Burmese background I can confirm the food is authentic, homemade tasting and priced well! Cant wait to be back! Food: - Burmese curry beef: super tender and has a very deep curry and Smokey flavor (I got medium spicy). Drizzle that over coconut rice and you’ll be transported to Myanmar 🇲🇲 - Rainbow Salad: noodle salad dish that is slightly warm that has a slight tamarind sour flavor and spice. Note they give you food in takeaway containers because you may not finish the food and simply can take it home after. Service: lovely Burmese/myanmar family owned and my mom converse with them in Burmese so you know it’s authentic. They’ve been in business for over 20 years in different locations. Friendly lady! Atmosphere: has whatever you need for a primarily takeout spot. Tip: cold water in the corner! Overall open kitchen concept and clean.

The Best AUTHENTIC and most delicious Myanmar (Burmese) Restaurant ever in California!!!!! I tried this Restaurant during my visit to San Francisco , from LA, and it's superb!! 🤩 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 👍👍👍👍👍 The taste of all items are so tasty and authentic that I felt as if I were back to Myanmar and as if I were having home-cooked food by my aunts or mother!! MUST TRY : 1. Fried noodles (trust me, you would wanna have it again and again!)👍👍👍👍👍 2. Nan Gyi salad ( real authentic Myanmar taste and home made salad taste 👍👍👍👍👍) 3. Chicken curry : First time ever in California that I have tasted a chicken dish with full of taste flown inside the whole meat!! Kudos to the chef Aunty Jasmine! Normally, in previous Restuarants in USA or Singapore, I couldn't eat much meat if I order a curry or dish , since the marinated sauce/taste didn't go into the meat and , the meat was too raw or blurred taste. Here, at Ar Har Ya Restaurant, it meets and exceeds my expectations ! Ar Har Ya dishes and selling menus PASSED my exam with High Distinctions!! 💯💯💯💯💯 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Do give it a try, you'll keep coming back to Ar Har Ya again & again! 💯✅️🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

While on a road trip passing through San Francisco. We stopped at one of the most authentic Burmese food places!! As a Burmese American i approve this restaurant!! We got tea leaf salad, beef curry, and of the national dish of Burma mohinga 🤌🏽

I ordered the combination chicken and shrimp fried rice — you know, a dish that should reasonably contain… wait for it… chicken and shrimp. What I received was a rice mountain with one sad shrimp, a few bits of chicken playing hide and seek, and some shredded cabbage shoved in the corner like an afterthought. Is there a shrimp shortage I wasn’t made aware of? Or did the chef just decided I didn’t deserve protein today? For the price I paid, I expected a meal — not a rice filler with attitude. Absolutely unacceptable. Get it together or change the name to “mostly rice, good luck with the rest.” Betrayed customers xoxo

It's more of a takeout place. Not recommended for dine in. Fried rice is a bit lackluster. There's only one shrimp in my combo fried rice which is kinda ridiculous. Other dishes may have more potential.

Stoa is a newly opened bar and restaurant that has quickly gained popularity among locals. The establishment offers an extended bar and seating area with a vibrant yet comfortable atmosphere. The menu features simple yet elegant options, ensuring quick service without compromising on quality. Stoa prides itself on its knowledgeable staff, high-quality and fresh menu items, as well as its gluten and dairy-free offerings.
Not nearly enough talk about their 100% gluten & dairy-free menu! So refreshing to not have to ask for a separate menu. And the food is 10/10 delicious. Great vibe for a date night but equally so for friend shared plates dinner!

The food here is absolutely fantastic. Flavors are off the charts! Everything comes out very quickly as well. Drinks are well made and well balanced. The only downside was the dessert - not nearly as good as it looks! Overall though an excellent meal at a very reasonable price AND all food is completely **gluten free** (not drinks though). I STRONGLY recommend Stoa! We will definitely be back!

When we saw that Stoa finally opened today we had to stop by to check it out. The menu is simple but elegant ensuring quick service at the bar without missing on the quality of the food or cocktails. You wouldn’t have believed they opened today - they already seem to be running like a well oiled machine. The atmosphere was vibrant but easy to have a conversation despite how busy it was and seats turned very quickly. We’re so happy to have this place in our neighborhood and were planning our next stop back as we walked out the door.

Cool place for an evening hangout. Their cocktails are really good and the staff is really friendly and makes great craft cocktails. We tried the lamb belly tacos and the miso onion dip-both were amazing!! Must try spot for a cool hangout with great cocktails.
Mani R — Google review
I loved the atmosphere. Hip, buzzy but not too noisy or crazy. If you get a table, you order your drinks at the register and they bring them to you, which is a great system that works well even when crowded. The problem is the drinks though. I found them flat and boring. 3 ingredient cocktails is an interesting concept but it feels like a gimmick.

Trendy corner pub & restaurant with a nice ambience and tons of seating both indoor and outdoor. Very popular at night, so it gets crowded and then it can become loud. But otherwise it's easy to have a conversation. Has a reasonable food selection and offers gluten-free and dairy-free options.

We were SO excited to finally see this new concept by the folks that brought us Nopa open up! Super friendly and attentive service by Max. We tried several cocktails and food items; standouts were the Summit cocktail, the chicken wings (very interesting Thai flavor!!), and the tuna tostada. Can’t wait to come back again :)
Natalie D — Google review
Came here on day 3 after they opened with other locals from the neighborhood. They extended the bar and seating area. There was music playing but not as loud compared to the previous incarnations of this spot. The brined peanuts and spicy seeds were great bar nibbles. Ordered the poke tostada after we had a drink (or two). I started with the mezcal Paloma which is great if you like mezcal. It was a particularly hot day for SF so I got a Summit, gin drink, which was a bit more refreshing. A friend ordered the Sunshine Fix and the Raven or Katana.

Heroic Italian in San Francisco is a straightforward Italian takeaway spot that offers deli sandwiches, salads, and wine. The signature "OMG" sandwich is highly recommended, featuring light and crispy bread that allows the flavors of imported Italian meats and assorted toppings to shine through. While some find the pricing a bit high for the size of the sandwich, others praise the excellent gluten-free bread. The ambiance may be better suited for outdoor dining due to potential weather conditions.
As a local neighbor and business owner, Herioic Italian has become my go-to to grab a quick bite and for most of my client luncheons. My favorites are the cesar salad with chicken, and the OMG sandwich. Yesteray, Dave and his crew surpassed all my expectations by catering a client event with 28 lunch boxes- with 4 different sandwiches... my guests kept telling me they were wowed at the presentation and couldn't get over how flavorful the sandwiches were; from the bread (deelish!) to the meats, not to mention the generous portions. I told 40 people all about how special your menu and restuarant is. Thanks, Dave to you and your crew for the fabulous lunches and the over-the-top service! I'll be back for more!

Sandwiches: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Overall: You will be saying OMG when you eat the OMG! The extended review... Sandwich: OMG - 5/5 - The flavor on this was awesome. The bread was nice and fresh and the meats with the spreads made for a nice flavor combination. The pricing on the menu could be a little bit high compared to other sandwich places I've been to but the flavor was undeniably awesome. Service: 5/5 - David, the owner, was super friendly and helpful in explaining all of the sandwich. His passion resonated when he was describing the menu. You could tell he was very proud of the quality he was providing. Ambiance: 4/5 - So there are a few tables outside to enjoy. The only issue is that it's hard to see that there is a sandwich shop sitting in the middle of a wine shop. There was some marketing outside on the sidewalk but I think it wasn't enough to take advantage of foot traffic.
Spencer Q — Google review
Very good food. Prosciutto was amazing. The only reason I didn’t give more stars is the ordering is QR code and you pay and tip prior to being served. No waitstaff. Impersonal.
Ken K — Google review
Was hesitant to try the very well reviewed $17 OMG sandwich due to its exorbitant price. But it is aptly named, OMG I spent $17($21+with tip) on this sandwich. This is roughly six inches with very sparse amount of meat or ingredients listed on the menu. The bread is pretty good but not anything to rave about. This is half a sandwich not a full sandwich.
John J — Google review
While I love a great sandwich, great sandwiches are far and few in-between. Heroic Italian is a place where you can find a great sandwich. I tried the signature "OMG" and it did not disappoint. The real hero of the sandwich is the bread. It's light, airy and crispy so you don't feel bloated with carbs. But the bread's real super-power is letting the flavors of the imported Italian meats and assorted toppings shine through. I had mine spicy which wasn't really hot but definitely added a touch of flavorful heat. I'll be going back to try their other sandwiches as well as another aptly named, "OMG."

as a celiac, its hard to find gf pasta that tastes like pasta. this place has GOOD PASTA. Great tomato sauce, tasty meatballs, and i had a nice malbec from the shared wine place. (the place is called swirl- excellent customer service)
Mac — Google review
Got the OMG sandwich and the shrimp spaghetti. The sandwich was good but I also think the sandwiches down the street at Rossi's are better for $13 vs $19 (that's what will get you saying omg). Now the spaghetti, the shrimp tasted like a cooked cocktail shrimp, definitely not a $22 shrimp spaghetti. The sauce was fine but the lack of fresh seafood for a $22 dish is wild. Way better places to eat in the Castro than here! Also, I saw the owner comments about how the imported meat is expensive but you barely get any so I don't feel like that justifies the price.
Paige T — Google review
A sammy and a drink you wouldnt expect to pay 25 plus bucks for this. My mistake for not checking the prices as the dont have a menu besides online. Now i saw the pictures and thought that looks pretty big but its not. For reference i put my average size hand next to. it this thing aint 6 inch long and yet they charge a arm and a leg for this mediocre excuse for a sandwich. Omg is a fitting name because OMG i just got ripped off.

Alma Cafe is such a hidden gem! Beautiful and spacious cafe with a relaxed, natural vibe. They have coffee, pastry and quite a breakfast menu. I picked an open face sandwich for my visit. The sandwich wasn't very big, but it was really gourmet, with a generous portion of well-seasoned mushrooms. Although it wasn't what I expected (something more hearty and filling), I still enjoyed it and am happy trying it out. The question is though, this location doesn't attract the gourmet crowd.

Absolutely phenomenal food. Would dine again and try more things on the menu. I had the chicken Yellow Curry and it was amazing. The curry slapped and the chicken was so so so well cooked. It was the juiciest, most cooked chicken I could have expected. They deserve the Michelin Guide oof.

Phenomenal! For a place that embraces its non-traditional offerings, I found the flavors and spice levels refreshingly authentic. The papaya salad is a must try!

Paid $25 for Jungle Curry—got 8 tiny pieces of tofu in pepper paste, no veggies, no rice (that’s extra at $2.50). When I asked, they said “It’s organic tofu.” Sorry, that doesn’t make up for the portion. The Drunken Noodles were small too—not rice noodles, but egg noodles. Flavor was just okay. Only three people running the whole restaurant, so don’t expect service. Small portions, high prices, and not authentic. Won’t be back.
Alison L — Google review
The food was delicious here! Our favorites were the chicken wings and yellow curry, but the pad thai was a close follow-up. We'll have to go back to try a few more things!

Funky Elephant is arguably the best Thai food one can find anywhere! Every dish is bursting with flavor, the staff and owners are unbelievably kind, and the ambiance instead is fun and playful. I easily get their food two or three times a month! Some must try’s are the crispy rice salad? Brussels sprouts, drunken mussels, pad Thai, and wholesome noodles. Ask them for a Thai tea Arnold Palmer too! So good!!!
Jaron K — Google review
“Funky” is definitely the right word to describe this place — not for the faint of heart, it’s got a creative and sometimes strange menu full of Thai flavor. The Pad Thai Old Skool is 100% the star of the show. It’s got a great mouthfeel, smooth flavor, and a nice crunch with the granulated peanuts. The Super Jungle Curry was… not what we were expecting. It was less of a curry and more of a broth, with a few bites of meat and some string beans. To be honest, the portioning was smaller than we expected, and the flavor was not at the same level of the pad Thai. The heat was good, but it was the only thing exciting about this dish — we wouldn’t recommend it for first time visitors. The service was decent, albeit a bit hard to grab the attention of — we had to try a few times to get our bill (the servers seemed pretty swamped, so we understand that staffing issues are generally out of the service worker’s control). We were perhaps most surprised that rice was not included with any of the dishes, so we had to pay for a small side. The silver lining? The Butterfly Pea Jasmine rice had a lightly herbaceous flavor, and the natural colors dyed it bluish-purple! Definitely a fun aspect that really put the “funky” in “funky elephant”. Overall, the decor and atmosphere are fun and creative, but the food sometimes felt like it was trying too hard. Not for the faint of heart, but an adventurous eater could easily fall in love with it.
Matty E — Google review
Came here with a friend and were seated immediately! Good: - Great ambiance for catching up, a little dim inside - The Pad Thai was amazing, a ton of flavor and the shrimp inside was jumbo sized - The crispy tofu came with a really tasty sauce - The rice salad was great too! It had a lot of crunchy flavor and it was fun to eat Bad - Took a bit of time for the food to arrive to our table - A little hard to flag down the servers Overall the food was excellent and thought that the only downside was the service.

Nestled in a charming corner, Petite Deli & Picnic offers a delightful experience with its airy atmosphere and limited seating. This quaint spot specializes in classic deli sandwiches, fresh salads, and tasty sides that evoke nostalgia. For those looking to elevate their outing, they provide custom picnic options paired with electric bicycles—perfect for enjoying the vibrant ambiance of Washington Square on a sunny day.
The tradition continues with Brendon and his brother who acquired this cute little deli from the Korean lady who owned and operated it for over 20 years. From the outside it doesn't look like much but the sandwich and salad we ordered were both spectacular. Fresh and prepared with pride, this was one of the best sandwiches I ever had. My companion had a Greek salad that was equally delicious. The portions are generous and prices are beyond reasonable. We stumbled upon this place on day 2 of being taken over by Brendon and his brother and from what we can see, they will continue the tradition that made this place very special to those in the neighbourhood for years to come. All the best to the new owners!

I've been back a few times since the Korean grandma retired and sold her business. And each time my experience here has gotten worst and worst. Turkey Delight is the only sandwich I ever order, so my feedback is only for the Turkey Delight. The new owner must have changed their bread distributor, because the ciabatta rolls are now flat, like sliced bread. The amount of fillings (meat, cranberry sauce, cheese, and lettuce) are so conservative! It is just a compilation of paper-thin ingredients. So thin that it is fit for a model's diet.

Nestled within a cozy corner of the Tenderloin, Bite Room is a delightful gem that offers an array of sandwiches and breakfast options, all crafted with premium, house-made ingredients. This charming takeout spot is perfect for those seeking something unique; don’t miss their Persian Omelette or KooKoo sandwich if you’re vegetarian! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, thanks to the super friendly staff who make every visit enjoyable.
Quiet deli inside a grocery/ convenience store in the tenderloin. Ordered salmon and avocado bagel sandwich! Quality meal, good prices.

Really great food and service here. I usually get the California Omelette. Also recently added an all-day breakfast menu.

Mmm... get the Persian Omelette and KooKoo sandwich if you're vegetarian. Super nice people and a long time neighborhood spot worth supporting.
