Cookie shop
Anthony's Cookies is a cozy and warm cookie shop where you can find a variety of classic cookies as well as seasonal favorites like Cinnamon Spice and Toffee Chip. The bakery also has a rotating selection of specialty cookies, like Coffee Cookie and Candied Pecan Chocolate Chip, that are sure to satisfy any craving.
Freshest Cookies = Best in the Bay $5ea. and I take half a dozen every visit. Hella good
DjTheGeneral — Google review
Avoid this place like the plague. I had heard great things about Anthony's and decided to order about $100 worth of cookies for a party. When I opened the boxes, half of the cookies were egregiously overcooked. What was really upsetting was that the snickerdoodles were completely burnt. I feel like this is completely unacceptable especially since I pre-ordered. Why would you sell burnt cookies to anyone? The peanut butter cookies were also terrible -- they tasted nothing of peanut butter, they tasted stale and were super salty. The chocolate covered short bread is hard to describe -- they almost have a sour, tangy taste. It leaves an off-putting taste in your mouth. I'm highly disappointed in my experience here. Sure, the staff were nice enough and the store seemed busy, but really what are we buying? I feel duped and I suggest you don't waste your time or money here.
Chris S — Google review
Meh cookies, with a above normal price tag and worst customer service that look at you like you stole something. No point in coming here unless you’re friends with the dude or live upstairs. We came here when we lived in the bay almost weekly. Coming back after a few years to be met with opening sentence sucks. Bad cookies , might be a battle batch, but poor customer service? Never again
MBC — Google review
The quality of the cookies is a given and I really enjoyed the personality of the cashier this past Sunday. So sweet! Definitely very neighborly and pleasant! I don’t mind spending more for a premium product but the cookies felt miniature for the price paid. Like you could easily smash one in one bite. As tasty as they are, it’s kind of underwhelming having to take small dainty bites but they still disappear pretty quickly. Side note: Pairs so well with iced coffee!
Tibor — Google review
Sooo goood. Make these cookies forever please. Cookies & cream and toffee chip are my favorites. Flawless. I’m a big fan of Levain cookies. Anthony’s hit different tho. Worth trying both if you know your sweets.
A.Z. L — Google review
My new favorite cookie place. While visiting SF, my friend who’s a local told me I must try this place. Everyone of the 6 different cookie flavors that I tried was DELICIOUS. I’m very particular about my chocolate chip cookies and they passed the test. Small storefront but BIG flavor. 10 out of 10.
Devonta W — Google review
Very good homemade-tasting cookies! I bake a lot and these taste almost exactly the same as the cookies I make, but often it is hard to find true homemade tasting cookies in a bakery. They are relatively small for bakery cookies, and slightly expensive at $2 per cookie. I could easily eat 3-4 so $6-8 worth in place of one large bakery cookie (which would normally be $3). I would recommend the regular chocolate chip, walnut chocolate chip, and toffee chip. I didn’t love the cookies and cream one.

This has been my favorite cookie spot in the city for forever! The cookies and cream are DELICIOUS!!!

Bakery
Breakfast restaurant
Cafe
Tartine Bakery, located in San Francisco, is a beloved spot known for its use of organic ingredients to create delectable breakfast pastries, hot pressed sandwiches, and coffee. Despite the lack of signage outside the black exterior, the long line winding out of Tartine is a clear indicator that you've found the right place. The bakery has gained widespread acclaim and has become a favorite among home bakers due to its co-founders sharing their baking secrets in popular manuals like Tartine Bread.
amazing cakes and other desert here- we tried almost everything and they all soooo good. The almond tart was incredible - lots of flavors that work together but not too sweet. Sourdough is also amazing here - got a couple of options but the buttermilk is supposed to be best and quickest sell so you have to be here early to get it Chocolate cake is all right, a bit too sweet and heavy for our liking.
Yusi — Google review
Anything that we got was great. All the sandwiches have house made breads; highly recommended. Also they have great pastry and deserts and also coffee. All good. There is long waiting time and not enough seat. But you can take away and enjoy the food at Dolores park.
Turev A — Google review
Tartine Bakery is a cute shop with a great vibe, perfectly situated in a lively area near Mission Dolores Park. While everything on display looked delicious, the morning bun is an absolute standout. I was honestly amazed at how good it was - incredibly fresh, soft, and flavorful in a way you wouldn't expect. A good tip is that while the seating is limited, it's generally sufficient for a cafe of its size and it wasn't overly crowded during my visit. For anyone visiting San Francisco, I would highly recommend a stop here, especially for the morning buns. It’s a genuinely delightful experience.
Jacob C — Google review
Fantastic pastries and great location. The almond croissant was perfect and unlike any I have had before. Not too sweet and didn’t taste of artificial almond, which is extremely rare to find. The plain croissant was luxurious and everything you want a croissant to be. The morning bun was soft and had a hint of orange, which was a nice surprise. We came in on a Thursday morning around 10:30am and seating was pretty tight, but eventually a spot opened up. Will definitely be back.
Mari-Kathleen L — Google review
I originally wanted to go to the manufactory location but the line was insane + they sold out of the fig goat cheese caramelized onion danish I wanted to try🥲 Since it wasn’t too far I just ended up walking over instead Danish was absolutely delicious with crispy edges, soft buttery inside, and a very delicious smell+taste of eggs and cheese… the caramelized onion and fig jam also paired perfectly with the slightly-dry goat cheese, which surprisingly did not feel too goaty at all. I arrived slightly late so the danish wasn’t hot but (I think) they used heated plates so it didn’t seem cold/stale at all! The cappuccino tasted okay but the milk could definitely be better foamed. Store was quite busy but it actually wasn’t that difficult to find a seat; it was a bit more on the crowded side but since everyone was quite friendly it still made for a pleasant experience.
Martina W — Google review
Must!!! Anything we tried here was delicious. We go once or twice a trip every time we are in California. Coffee is on point. Always get a loaf to go. I don’t even like sweets but the baked goods are made my angels.
Yelena M — Google review
Yummy almond croissant and super friendly service! Standard flat white as well. Love that they have a little area to wrap any leftovers to go, made it very convenient!
Cynthia — Google review
I really liked the iced vanilla latte and the morning bun. But unfortunately I have to leave a 1 star review, as the coconut tart we purchased has this cocoon like object with some sort of eggs in it? It’s such a shame as I’ve tried calling the location multiple times for a solution with no avail, but hopefully they can get it sorted out for future customers.

Bakery
Jane The Bakery is a popular upscale cafe known for its fair-trade coffee and delectable housemade baked goods. With three locations, including Fillmore Street, Larkin Street, and an old KFC on Geary, it has become a go-to spot for many. The bakery offers an array of pastries such as morning buns, face-sized cookies, matcha knots, and slices of pizza.
The best coffee I’ve had in San Francisco all month – hands down. Made on a La Marzocco machine, it’s smooth, rich, and absolutely worth stopping for. The oat cookie we tried? Unreal. Perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and just the right amount of chewy. The service was just as good as the coffee, with a super friendly and welcoming staff who made the experience even better. If you’re a coffee lover or just craving something delicious, this place is a must-visit.
Ben M — Google review
Walked to this cute bakery from Japan town. There are so many pastries and they are all amazing. I had the pistachio olive twist and latte which was not too sweet. The matcha and banana bread were also amazing. We got there at 10 right before the line got crazy but it would be worth the wait. The service is fast and there is seating outside as well as a cute park across the street.
Heenal A — Google review
First time to try this bakery because of the reviews. We got the Asia Chicken Salad, chocolate croissant and vanilla sprinkle cookies. They were all ok, nothing to rave about. The dressing of the salad was good. If you want a quick breakfast, this place is ok. Prices are on the expensive though (spent about $33 for just 3 items). We were not able to try their beverages because we brought our own. Maybe next time we can try their coffee.
Rosary O — Google review
We were four people sharing different kinds of croissants — plain, chocolate, pain au raisin, and almond. My personal favorite was definitely the pain au raisin. We also had the prosciutto & burrata sandwich, which was amazing. The salad sandwich was packed with fresh ingredients, but the bread was a bit soggy and too soft, which took away from the overall experience. There was a long line and unfortunately no seating available, so we ended up eating in the park across the street. It would have been lovely to enjoy our coffee in ceramic cups instead of paper, if only there had been a place to sit. Still, everything tasted great and the quality was high.
Ozge U — Google review
Loved the vegan banana bread which was also gluten-free. In my opinion it could’ve had some chocolate chip or walnuts in it as well to add a bit more variety but it was delicious nonetheless! They also had a chocolate chip cookie, a snickerdoodle and a muffin which were vegan and gluten-free. I’ll be back to try the other options for sure
Maria — Google review
Great coffee and tasty pastries — what more can you ask for? I dropped by Jane for a quick bite before work, and I was super impressed by the wide spread of pastries, ranging from the classics to creative and unique confections. I decided to get my go-to baseline — a chocolate croissant and cappuccino — and I was quite impressed overall! The croissant was buttery and flakey, and it had plenty of chocolate. If anything, it might have had slightly too much chocolate for my taste, since it was quite a bit sweeter than I’m used to, but that might be a controversial take. The coffee was also nice and nutty. The staff was super friendly and efficient — I was in and out within five minutes, which included my indecision at the counter — so it’s a great spot if you’re in a rush. There isn’t any indoor space to sit down, but there’s a standing counter along the window or a few communal booths outside that you can hang out at.
Sonya H — Google review
Tried this place based on the high ratings but so disappointing. The pastry for he apple was thick and soggy, and the seasonal flan was terrible! Over baked all the way through! And it was a recommendation by the server too! The only positive was the availability of outside seating for dogs.
Panda P — Google review
Jane The Bakery on Geary is an absolute gem and easily one of the best bakeries in SF. The bread is next-level—perfectly crusty on the outside, soft and flavorful inside. Their sourdough and multigrain loaves are staples, and they consistently nail both taste and texture. You can tell everything is made with care and serious skill. But it’s not just about the bread—the pastries and sweets are incredible too. The morning bun is a must-try (crispy, flaky, just the right amount of sweetness), and their croissants rival anything you’d find in Paris. They also offer some great gluten-free and healthier options that don’t sacrifice flavor. The savory items—like the sandwiches and focaccia—are equally worth the hype. Everything is super fresh, and the ingredients feel thoughtfully chosen. The space is clean and efficient, and the staff is friendly and fast, even when there’s a line (and yes, there's often a line—but it's worth the wait). If you love artisan baking and high-quality ingredients, Jane The Bakery is a must-visit. Truly 5-star worthy every time.

Patisserie
Bakery
Located in the Pacific Heights/Presidio Heights neighborhood, b. patisserie is a bustling cafe offering Parisian and Viennese-style pastries, sandwiches, and coffee in a modern setting with an open kitchen. The bakery was founded by Belinda Leong, a pastry chef known for her fine-dining expertise.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommended (1=Avoid, 3=Standard, 5=Can't Miss). San Francisco is home to many great bakeries, but B. Patisserie is a local and international staple. Peak hours should be avoided and parking can be a little bit of pain since you'll have to find street parking somewhere nearby. There is a good amount of seating, but can be challenging on a weekend. Their menu is vast, but I would stick with the laminated pastries and skip the tartines and desserts. The banana chocolate almond croissant is something I've only been able to find here and is one of their signature offerings.
Mark K — Google review
b. Patisserie is an exceptional bakery in San Francisco. The pastries are incredibly fresh, flaky, and full of rich flavor — truly world-class quality. Their coffee and drinks pair perfectly with everything, and the atmosphere is warm and elegant. Every item tastes crafted with care and precision. A must-visit spot for anyone who loves excellent pastries and beautiful presentation.
Olga N — Google review
I brought my neighbor here after our lunch. As usual, everything here is on-point. The pastries and my usual go-tos but this visit I also got a piece of pistachio opera cake that did not disappoint. It is easy to get distracted with all the pastries but as you make your way to the register, there are small pieces specialty cakes, simple bread offerings (baguettes and sourdough loaves) to be had and what canoften be overlooked are the little cookies -chocolate, savory and plain sables-each are different and so delicious. The granola is addictive-evening you don't think you like granola. They do offer sandwiches and an espresso bar-all counter service with the drinks and sandwiches delivered to your table. I often rush in to grab pastries but it really is a treat to go here to sit and enjoy a coffee and dessert or small meal.
Leslie W — Google review
We got the chocolate chip cookie, a banana almond croissant, chocolate kouign-amann, and a peach scone. The kouign-amann was like a mini croissant with a melted chocolate topping. The banana almond was like crossing banana bread and a croissant, the best part was the crispy edges, they were like crispy chocolate chip cookie pieces. The chocolate chip cookie was like a Panera cookie. The scone was ok but plain and had very little peach flavor.
Alex D — Google review
Everybody raves about the Kouign Amann, but honestly we loved the pain suisse! It was so delicious. The chocolate kouign amann was good too, but it has a more crystallized sugar coat and I prefer the softer croissant of the pain suisse. If you do get a kouign amann, I recommend just getting the plain one (the chocolate tasted like sugar alcohol)
Bits B — Google review
Been here a bajillion times. Usually first in line, sometimes waaaay in the back. Still amazed how the quality and service has not changed in recent years. A long way from our hotel, love making the walk back (most of the trek is beautiful) with a big box. Almost 3000 reviews, obviously they do it right. I am obviously not objective in my review of b. patisserie because I love this place to the point I am blind with gluttonous excitement each visit.
Kreative C — Google review
we got two of their cakes: sesame yuzu and the chocolate pistachio, along with the kougin aman and chocolate chip cookie. Their seasonal kougin aman is a must get!! Super flaky and perfectly buttery, it was definitely one of the best kougin amans I’ve had in the city. Their cakes were delicious as well since they weren’t overly sweet (I did prefer the sesame yuzu over the other one since it was a rare flavor profiling) but I think their pastries are worth trying more than their cakes in my opinion!
Sarina I — Google review
My first time here and everything was so beautifully made. I came here during Chinese New Years week, and so there were a lot of delicious Asian flavours like black sesame. They also had black sesame latter which had a lot of black sesame taste to it. Definitely get their kouign amann. It was very good. The puddings were not too sweet, velvety smooth and tasty. Everything I got was great and delicious. I would definitely come back when I'm in the city.

These are the best cookies you can get in the United States hands down. This is cookie perfection. I’m a fat guy and I know what I’m talking about. Pick them up at the store or have them shipped to you like I did. I will be ordering more. Mmm.

Amazing cookies! Highly recommend the toffee chocolate chip cookies (2nd pic, front). Delicious and crispy. Quite pricey but the cookies are loaded with goodies, so it makes for a fun occasional treat.

Wow, wow, wow.... hands down and by far the best cookie I've eaten. We were staying just down the street and could smell the deliciousness as we walked down the street, we had to go in and find out what smelled so amazing. Best decision of our entire trip. The fresh made cookies were phenomenal. I have told everyone about them. I'll definitely be going back today before heading to the airport. I only wish we could get it in TN. So yummy!!

Made it here just in time. The cookies were delicious! Be sure to get yours warmed!!!! Great customer service! Oh, the novelty treats are the icing on top!!!

I renamed this place to the “burnt cookie”. I ordered bunch overpriced $7 burnt cookie off Uber eats tried eating them but the hard burnt dry cookies were terrible. I brought them to the store showed them and the girl told me no. She will not exchange even one burnt cookie for a not so burnt cookie. The overcook their cookies so you have to trust me to save your money and do not waste it like I did mine for some worst cookies over ever had.

These cookies were absolute delicious! I definitely recommend you stop by to check them out especially if you are with kids. They are so affordable are warm. We bought around 36 cookies and my favorite one was the salted caramel fudge one.

Arizmendi Bakery is a worker-owned cooperative cafe and bakery known for its freshly made breads, sweets, and thin-crust pizzas. The no-frills setting features bustling bakers and massive ovens visible behind the counter. Patrons can enjoy the daily $5 lunch special, which includes a slice of artisan vegetarian sourdough pizza with a side salad. The bakery offers seasonally inspired pies with changing ingredients daily, along with an array of breads and pastries.
Arizmendi Bakery is a must-visit gem in San Francisco's Inner Sunset neighborhood near Golden Gate Park. I highly recommend it for locals and tourists alike. The sign outside brought me in. For those of you who've seen Inside Out, do you remember the scene about broccoli pizza? Arizmendi inspired it. I came in for the pizza by the slice, but left with more goodies from their extensive and delicious bakery shelves. The breadsticks in particular are not to be missed. As for the pizza, you can get a palm-sized hot slice for $3.50. That's an excellent value for something so tasty. It was enough for a light lunch, but I could have easily bought two without breaking the bank. There's a parklet outside and some other benches to sit and eat. Golden Gate Park is about a 10-15 minute walk away if you'd like another option for a great picnic. Arizmendi is a worker-owned cooperative (co-op), which also makes them stand out. You see it in the care that the worker-owners take in their goods, and in the assistance the front-of-house staff offer their customers. I'm very happy to support this unique and important business model. I can't wait to come back to Arizmendi Bakery the next time I'm on my way to the Japanese Tea Garden, Botanical Garden, DeYoung Art Museum, the Cal Academy of Science, or anything else in the nearby area. Save a couple of broccoli slices for me 😋

We got the pumpkin muffins, the sourdough croissant, a pecan roll and a daily special pizza. The muffin was the only thing that was worth the wait in line. It was soft and sweet with little bits of sugar on top. The croissant had that bad sour chemical taste. The pecan roll had raises in it which threw off the taste and texture of what would have been a very tasty roll. The pizza was better than Costco but not more than double the price good.

my new fav bakery! i love how many options they have without egg!!!! the scones were absolutely perfect, not too sweet and buttery. the handheld focaccias and breads were really good as well!! the only thing i wish they had done better was offer small sides of cheese, butter, or some topping for the items so we wouldn’t have to purchase a large jar of cream cheese for one small pastry. other than that, i love this place!!!

Line out the door, very busy, and for a good reason! Absolutely delicious everything! Fresh out of the oven, and selling like the hot commodities they literally were. 10/10 would go again and every day if I lived close enough!

I found this bakery by coincidence and could not be happier. Cute little shop with both savoury and sweet options. I really like their Wolverine Roll, a little roll with dried fruit and nuts. Great place if you are looking for a snack after spending time in the golden gate park.

This is a must. We cannot come to San Francisco without making a stop. Had the daily pizza special - mushroom and Gruyère cheese - it was heavenly. Also suggest grabbing some of their breadsticks. Imagine the best pizza crust you’ve ever had topped with butter and parm. You can’t go wrong

I really like the corn cherry scones and bran muffins. Pizza is best when it’s very fresh, so eat there or get a half bake and warm it at home. The cookies are quite chewy—would prefer them slightly more tender but they are still fine. I also enjoyed a honey wheat bun here. Bottom line is that this is a fine bakery that really knows how to put out good products.

Currant scone was not bad. You grab the one you like yourself, and pour yourself drip coffee.

Mr. Holmes Bakehouse is a popular bakery in San Francisco known for its delectable pastries and cozy ambiance. The bakery offers a variety of treats including tarts, donuts, and their famous cruffin - a croissant-muffin hybrid that has gained national attention. While the cruffins are often sold out quickly, visitors can still indulge in other delightful options such as the Cornflake Cookie which perfectly balances salty and sweet flavors.
Believe the hype this place is goooooood. I got there early around 10minutes before it opened on a Wednesday and there was already a line of 2 so I suggest getting there as early as possible to avoid the potential ques. I wanted to try everything but I settled for the Lexington croissant, raspberry and hibiscus and couldn't resist picking up a cornflake cookie for later :) Both the croissants had amazingly fantastic flaky pastry with flavourful but not overpowering fillings, the chocolate coating on the lexington added a nice crunch and different texture where as the creamy filling on the raspberry did the same job in a different way on the other. The cornflake cookie was amazingly sweet but with the nutty undertones was a great match, perfect with a coffee. A great bakery to try for sure.

Wanted to visit place so many times and finally made it here today! It is a tiny shop that has a trendy design. Very cute and modern. They got a good selection of both sweet and savory, and I opted for their sweet choices this time. Their apple cream donut was very good. Not overly sweet and the apple cream inside was fresh. Finishing it won’t make your tastebuds full of sugar, so I liked it. Got their matcha croissant but have yet tried. I fee that I will like it. The size was small, and I got both for $8.1. It is on the pricey side, so -1 star overall.

Favorite bakery in SF. A little bit of a sketchy area though. I went with my child and a lady on the walk up the street to the bakery literally tried to take her out of my husband’s arms. So be aware of the area and your surroundings while there. We go at 9:00am and get the pastries fresh including the famous Crufin. Everything we have tried here has been amazing.

Went to visit San Francisco to see relatives here all the way from Toronto. And this was my first stop!! We had to wait for almost 30 mins with the long line up. But totally worth it! Absolutely delicious. Please open a store in Toronto Canada!

Excellent pastries! The croissant was buttery yet fluffy. Both the savory and sweet tarts were interesting and delicious. Best to go in the earlier hours of the morning, between 8 to 10. By 11 most of it would be sold out.

I’ve been waiting forever to come out to the city and ridiculously stand in line and now I finally got to try the Cruffin!!! The line for the cruffins doesn’t open until 9:00AM and we got there around 8:20AM on a Saturday morning. The actual open time for the rest of the bakery is 8:00AM. When we finally arrived to the front, we got our limit of 2 and then went to the registers to pay. The verdict? Worth the one time standing in line for 40 minutes to try it, but it wasn’t anything super impressive. The flavor of the day was a coffee caramel which was pretty good, but the cruffin itself was a sweet pastry covered in more sugar shaped like a muffin. It wasn’t anything that super impressed me and I don’t know why I wake up early and wait in line for these things. I also got some other pastries and I would have to pass on most of their croissants (matcha green tea croissant, bacon and onion croissant, spinach, mushroom and feta croissant, chocolate chip cookie dough croissant…). I had high expectations since this place is so popular, but the croissants were not as buttery and flaky as I had hoped. I also tried their donut which the flavor was unique (spiced pineapple), but the donut itself was just okay. The cookies on the other hand – OMG – I would come back for that. They are chewy on the inside and just a little crisp on the outside and had great flavors! Overall, I was a little disappointed to be honest, but I can finally check trying the cruffin off my list.

We expected a long line, but there was only one person ahead of us. We peered into the display window only to find 4 chocolate cherry sticky buns and a small stack of cornflake cookies left. Mystery solved. We were far too late in getting a cruffin at 2:30pm, so we settled for the chocolate cherry sticky bun. The sticky bun did not disappoint. It was crispy on the outside and wonderfully flaky on the inside. The middle was filled with slightly tart cherries that paired well with the dark chocolate drizzle.

I've probably been here more times than I should. I just can't help myself. From the infamous cruffin, to their buttery croissants, to savory danishes, and cookies too. Oh and donuts that rotate as well. Everything here is satisfying and will keep you coming back for more....well at least that's what it does for me. So far my favorite things have been their almond stuffed cruffin (the cruffins change quarterly, so do the donuts.) I'm glad I live here because it's nice to stop in during the week. Even during the week the line can get long. At 9am is when they start serving cruffins and it's first come first serve. Once they run out, they run out. They don't make any more for the day, so get there around 8:40am if you plan on getting a cruffin. I can't even imagine what it's like on the weekends. The have the infamous "I got backed in San Francisco sign." Great photo op after you purchase your goods. Back to the baked goodness, I love the ham and cheese croissant ($5) , the strawberry jalapeño bear claw -runs about $4.5, and their savory bread pudding ($4). Definitely worth a try if you are visiting. Staff are friendly and the line goes by quickly. Not really any seating inside, except a few stools by the window, so be prepared to stand in the street while you eat your delicious goodies.

Craftsman and Wolves Valencia is a bakery in the lively Mission district of San Francisco that offers an array of pastries and confections. They have both traditional treats like croissants and cookies, as well as unique creations. The bakery has a bustling atmosphere and customers can enjoy their goodies in the space or take them to nearby Mission Dolores Park for a scenic view. Craftsman and Wolves Valencia is known for their high-quality baked goods, which can even be ordered online and shipped nationwide.
I'm still trying to figure out how they get the eggs inside the muffins. They must have failed 100 times before they got the technique right. It's pretty crazy. Anyway, the egg muffins are a novelty but everything else is probably better. The coffee is great, the French pastries are beautiful and delicious, and the croissants and related baked goods are made with care. The interior is well appointed and the staff all seem laid back. I gather that this location has been open a while; it's places like this that have paved the way for more establishments like this to become mainstream. I'm glad to see this one is still thriving because they are serving high quality food and drink.

Awesome bakery. Definitely coming back to try out their other pastries. Got the yuzu egg salad sandwich. The meal was surprisingly light, a great way to start the day. The croissant was incredibly flaky and the egg salad filling was delicious with just the right amount of kick. Friendly employees and very fast service. Highly recommend coming here!

Been a fan for over a decade and their quality and standards are still top notch. Delicious pastries, plates, coffee and drinks. I can't recommend this place enough, and the Rebel Within with the soft boiled egg is still a game-changer to this day. I'm shocked no other bakery or cafe has tried their own version.

I’ve had this place on my bucket list for months, and finally went in today for the famous rebel within. It was…just good! I don’t know what I expected — so maybe I am not doing the place justice because I overhyped it in my head — but the muffin was just okay. I wish it had a bigger contrast: crispier outside fluffier inside. Flavour was mild, but the pink salt helped A LOT. Happy I tried it, not something I would crave again. The place itself is lovely, the staff was kind, and all the other pastry items looked delicious!

Craftsman and Wolves has a beautiful storefront, chill ambiance, great coffee, and impeccable pastries. When I regained the ability to digest lactose again, this bakery was the first I turned to and have continued to do so. They make the fiddly and intricately flavored entremets that an average American might not realize that their life has been missing. Your life is not yet complete if you've not tried any or all of the entremets. Their triple chocolate croissant is absolutely lovely. The tiramichoux is superb. The rebel within scotch eggs are yummy, filling, and were safe for me back when I was limiting my dairy intake to just hard cheeses. The Budino bar is one of the loveliest desserts I've ever had.
Marissa K — Google review
The worst bakery in town I guest. every thing taste like over night. The chocolate croissant is nasty, cold and sticky but hard, the inside filling of the chocolate is not fresh and hard like a rock! Like chewing Chocolate chips, it is totally separate from the croissant. The Kouign Amann here is a joke. Trader Joe's puff pastry work better then it. It is cold and hard and not crispy at all, greasy, oily but tasteless. Like using so what cheap or fake butter. They are famous for the egg muffin but it is out...but base on other bread quality, i doubt it will be good... Will never come back.

My friend and I are in town for Outside Lands and heard about this bakery so we checked it out for breakfast. We got the biscuits and gravy, yogurt bowl, & rebel muffin. The rebel muffin led me to the 5 stars it was so soft and flavorful. The yogurt bowl had homemade granola which added a great crunch. The biscuits and gravy were yummy just a lot of mushrooms in gravy fyi. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a cute & yummy bakery on your weekend brunch.

Devil's Teeth Baking Company, located near the beach in Outer Sunset, San Francisco, is a popular spot known for its delicious breakfast sandwiches and freshly baked goods. The bakery offers a grab-and-go experience with limited seating available in a cute parklet. Owned by Hilary Passman, this no-frills establishment has gained fame for its mouthwatering breakfast sandwich featuring scrambled eggs, cheddar, applewood smoked bacon or sausage on a house-made buttermilk biscuit.
During my four days traveling in San Francisco, I looked forward to having breakfast here every morning. This is my favorite place out of my 20-day trip in the U.S. I wish I could try everything on the menu! I really love the service here. Every time you call me “DORA,” it feels like a warm and beautiful start to my day.🥹 Thank you for the delicious food and amazing service. Nestled in the vibrant Hayes Valley, Loquat is a delightful Jewish bakery that has quickly made a name for itself with its mouthwatering offerings. Known for their flaky bourekas—savory turnovers that are simply irresistible—and delectable cakes that strike the perfect balance of sweetness, this bakeshop is a must-visit for pastry lovers. Loquat draws inspiration from diverse baking traditions across the Jewish diaspora, showcasing treats like rich babka and unique pistachio-infused creations.
loved the details of the store and the food! the cutley cups and plates are so design-y and compliment well with the plants. the boureka sandwich and pastry were buttery and airy, perfectly sized too. definitely on the expensive end for a casual breakfast but the experience was good.
Miranda — Google review
A charming bakery with a stunning selection of cakes, sweets, and savory items. The interior is uniquely designed and incredibly cute, with beautiful ceramics used for serving—every plate and cup feels thoughtfully chosen and adds to the experience. We opted for the mushroom boureka as a savory treat. The pastry was perfectly flaky and light, and the filling was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. That said, I couldn’t take my eyes off the rest of the baked goods and cakes—they all looked irresistible. We also had an espresso and a mint tea, which was served with fresh mint leaves—both refreshing and comforting. A lovely touch: drinks come with a piece of halva, offering the perfect bite of sweetness to enjoy alongside your beverage. If you're visiting San Francisco, this bakery is definitely worth a stop. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger, and everything from the food to the ambiance is crafted with care. Highly recommended!

Obsessed with this place. Decor is so cute and trendy, the chocolate babka is delicious and so was the coffee. You definitely should have your coffee and pastries to stay. Comes on the most beautiful ceramics. They also sell it in-store.

Wow…just wow. Several of my friends recommended that I try out Loquat when I moved to San Francisco, and I can absolutely see why — it fully lives up to the hype with its outstanding pastries, great coffee, and amazing vibes. The pastries, to quote a French friend, “rival the ones available in Paris,” although I’m not sure what she’s comparing them to given everything is Mediterranean inspired. For a savory treat, I adore their feta and eggplant boureka, which has a remarkably rich and flavorful filling encased in a buttery, flakey shell. It’s topped with a very generous helping of poppy seeds, so be prepared to have seeds in your teeth for the rest of the day, but it’s 100% worth it. They have tons of amazing sweet treats, ranging from croissants to cakes, but their classic is the salted chocolate babka muffin. It is literally to die for — the bread is perfectly flaky, with just the right amount of butter to make it rich but not overwhelming. The dark chocolate is wonderful and not overly sweet, but any sugar is balanced out by the salt. Genuinely the only thing wrong with this is that I can’t have it every single day. Beyond the classics, they also have a rotating set of seasonal items that are all wonderful. I overheard a server chatting with the table next to mine and describing a seasonal dish featuring a summer Italian hot pepper. She got the brunch version of the dish with full peppers, eggs, and bread, but they also have a pastry-fied version in the form of a boureka. Literally everything is outstanding, and I cannot wait to make my way back here!

This place was so nice. The coffee was delicious and I tried their Mahlab Cake, which was very fluffy and moist. though all the pastries look so good! The only thing is that is a little corner and seating is not so easy. Yeah this year is very nice and people so nice!

Update: Visited again recently and tried a meringue cookie and pistachio tea cake. Everything was outstanding as usual, though I did notice the menu hadn’t changed much from several months ago (cakes were mostly the same). Continues to be a great place to stop for a sweet treat, though regulars may get tired of the menu. ——————- Absolutely worth a visit! I tried the salted chocolate babka and one of their seasonal savory turnovers (bourekas), which on this day was a squash and cheese variety dusted in za’atar. I got a seasonal special red bean sesame babka to go! The babka melted in the mouth and wasn’t too sweet with the salt coming through subtly. The warm boureka though was next-level with a laminated dough that was crisp and then practically melted in the mouth. I will be back to try their cakes and prepared plates!

Arsicault Bakery Civic Center is a trendy bakeshop with modern decor that offers typical French fare such as croissants and quiche. It is part of the diverse bakery scene in San Francisco, where establishments like Craftsman & Wolves and Tartine keep centuries-old traditions alive with their world-class confections, breads, and Viennoisserie.
Popular bakery known for croissants. Came here with my boyfriend on a Friday morning for breakfast and there was a line, but it moved quickly. There is some indoor and outdoor seating available. We got a ham and cheese croissant that was freshly made so they called my name when it was ready. We had a chocolate croissant as well - the croissant was perfectly flaky and delicious. I can see why this place is so popular. Credit cards accepted.

Hands down one of the best croissants that you can get in San Francisco. Their almond croissant is absolutely amazing if you love a buttery, flaky, sweet, amazingness in every bite. Their lines do get pretty long, but they go surprisingly fast! Staff is super efficient and friendly despite the rush and I've never had a bad experience. There are a couple of seats both inside and out but it's usually full. This location is in a little bit more of a sketchier place (civic center) than the other ones but it's worth checking out!
Sarina I — Google review
Arsicault Bakery is an absolute golden find, especially if you're a fan of croissants. It’s a casual, cozy spot that serves what might be the best croissants I've ever had. I was in the mood to explore and tried the chocolate, ham & cheese, and plain croissants - every single one was delicious. I was genuinely surprised by how good the ham & cheese croissant was, and I'm so glad I ordered it. The quality here is truly unexpected and top-tier. A good heads-up: you'll likely see a medium-sized line when you arrive, but don't let that deter you. It moves at a decent pace since most people are getting takeout. They do have some indoor and outdoor seating if you want to stay. For an unbelievably good croissant, this place is a definite must-try. I can't recommend it enough.

Literally when you walk in you will get a whiff of that bakery aroma (the smell of bread and sweet goodness). I love all the pastries but my favorite ones are the almond croissant, plain, and the chocolate. I also like their morning bun. My absolute favorite is Kouign Aman!!! But they also have savory on the menu like ham and cheese croissants and quiches. If you want a certain item come first thing in the morning because they run out of stuff. There is dining on the inside and outside if you want to sit, chat, and have coffee. The place is nice and clean but it can look better. But it doesn’t stop me from coming in to get my croissants:). The lines can get long but it moves fast. So you must decide what you want. The price is standard (meaning not too cheap not expensive). But it’s affordable and very good.

Arsicault is as yummy as what everyone is saying. My fave is the ham & cheese croissant…very good & flakey! Share the chocolate almond croissant as it is big and heavy. Their McAllister shop has a constant line but it moves fast. Outdoor seating is a huge plus! I’d come back again…and again and will try other goodies! 😋👍🏼 P.S. I had to buy soda across the street as they don’t sell them.

One of the best bakeries in San Francisco, hands down! Everything is always so fresh, perfectly crispy, and full of flavor. The apple turnover and chocolate croissant are absolutely mind-blowing. Breadbelly is an airy cafe located on Clement Street, offering a fusion of Asian and Californian influences in its coffee, baked goods, and light bites. The bakery was initially a pop-up by chefs with experience from renowned spots like Atelier Crenn and Coi, drawing inspiration from their travels in Asia and their Chinese and Filipino-American heritage.
Nom nom nom, this is a must try if you're in the area. Everything was on point in regard to the flavor profile. The pastries and drinks were well prepared with the use of quality ingredients. Great customer service and the wait wasn't very long. Seating indoors is limited, because it is a small facility. They do offer additional seating outdoors, but on busy days you may be out of luck or have to wait. I will definitely be back. Breadbelly is a family favorite! 💜

We had lunch here on a week day. Definitely come before the lunch rush because parking is very limited. We ordered and took a seat outside they call your name for drinks and food separately to pick up. The outdoor patio is nice but can get very windy and cold. The food was tasty, but I'm not sure I would pay $18 for a breakfast sandwich. Other than taking your order and calling your name for pick up there was very little interaction with the staff.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE breadbelly. It’s has the BEST matcha lattes in the city in my opinion, even better than some of the matcha I had in Japan, which is A LOT. I have been trying to find a matcha that tops this place and very few places come close. I want to gatekeep this place so much and for as long as I can but it’s becoming increasingly popular these days. So expect long lines on weekends. I’m just sad I can’t go everyday because it’s so far out in Richmond. Yes the prices are pricey ($8+ for matcha) and yes they charge an employee mandate fee. But it’s worth it. I also love their Kaya toast and bun. Their rotating seasonal drinks are great too. 10/10

Small local cafe with interesting items. We tried the kaya toast, shrimpwich, and summer corn bun. I wanted to try everything bun and matcha drinks but they don't have those now. The kaya toast tastes good and smells nice but can be sweet if eating it all. Summer corn bun is their new item instead of former buns and is just okay. Shrimp sandwich is also fine (expected flavor) but pricey. For coffee, we tried Karl's cappuccino and 50/50. Karl's is London fog tea flavored and tastes interesting. 50/50 is black tea + decaf + condensed milk and on the sweet side. Limited indoor seating but more outside (just colder). Overall fun to try but not good enough to come again.

I would have given 4 stars if it weren't for the small piece of hair I saw stuck to the bottom of the cupcake. At the prices they charge, I expect the food to be clean at least. Very disappointing, because I really like their scones, which come in a variety of flavors and taste great. The shortbreads are a bit hard for my taste, but nevertheless delicious. Even if you don't find any hair on the cupcakes, I still wouldn't recommend them. They're stored in individual boxes; that means, they're less fresh. And indeed, they are very dry. Many of the yummy Batter Bakery treats in a cute little kiosk on the slope of a steep hill right in Downtown San Francisco! Get there early since they do run out of the more tasty treats. But a great reward for hiking up California after or before lunch! Favorites are the cupcakes and pound cake style breads.

Convenient location if you work in FiDi, fresh baked goods everyday! I love the Lavender Sea Salt mini shortbread cookies!!!! Their bakery is in Russian Hill (Polk St), but I work right across the street from their kiosk. Tip: take a look at the chalk A-board outside for special items they have that day! I almost walked by the other day till I stopped after seeing the Banana Nutella muffin! The girl said they don't have it available everyday :D I also get the mint chocolate cookie when they have it too.

I have been purchasing a package of shortbread cookies @ $5.75 over the last several months and getting a stamp for every purchase. When I came in to redeem the card @ $3.50, I was told that I could not apply the $3.50 value to a purchase of shortbread cookies contrary to what the person told me when I purchased the 12th package of shortbread cookies. Another example of 'read the fine print' - at least Peet's and other food vendors honor their free cards.

This quaint little cylinder of baked goodness is a rich respite amid the bustle of FiDi. Honey Fig Goat Cheese Scone this morning was perfect - crisp outside, rich buttery inside, subtle sweetness. One of the best scones I've ever had the pleasure of consuming!

The people that work here are so kind and helpful! Everything is always fresh baked and delicious. Their cupcakes and cookies are a huge hit at our office. The location is very convenient. Great place all around! I wouldn't change a thing.

Expensive treats but they are indeed tasty. Various choices of shortbread cookies, brownies, etc... Not a pleasing location to shop though, go to the other one on Polk St instead.

Bar
Restaurant
Spruce is a sophisticated dining spot located in Presidio Heights, San Francisco. The restaurant offers seasonal, contemporary American cuisine and handcrafted cocktails in an elegant setting with dark wood furnishings and cathedral-style ceilings. It has gained recognition for its exceptional farm-to-table food and an extensive wine selection of over 2,500 labels, earning it the Wine Spectator's Grand Award in 2018.
What a special restaurant. This establishment is beautiful while not being too stuffy, the salad I had today was out of this world, and the service at the bar was fantastic. I see why Spruce is considered one of the best restaurants to dine at in San Francisco. I'd highly recommend this place!

Had a fantastic four course meal here for my husband’s birthday. Fancy with white table cloths, delicious wine, and a pre-set menu and price ($125 pp). They brought out a beautiful birthday dish. We had a great service, and the truffle pasta was a highlight.
Julia E — Google review
Great service and vibe. However, food is not impressive, at least for the three-course dinner that two of us tried. The appetizers had some salty or fruity flavors, but not something that made us feel excited. Main entrees we chose were dry-aged duck and grilled cod - I can taste the flavor of the meat for both, rather than much interesting flavor from the seasonings. In other words, I won't remember them after the dish. Desserts (both the plum dish and the strawberry sorbet) were too sweet and the fruits were treated with syrups rather than fresh ones. My favorite one is actually the complimentary ice cream sandwich for our anniversary. Another thing to note - complimentary bread only comes with one piece per person. I was not hungry before coming to the dinner so was not counting on the dinner to feed me full. Yet, the amount of food would definitely not satisfy a normal dinner for most people. Among all the pre-fixe meals we had before at non-Michelin and Michelin-star restaurants, this never happened, so I think I should warn people of this. Given the price ($125 per person, with additional $10+ CA employee benefit fees, additional tax and fees) of over $160 per person, i think the restaurant should really improve the food quality and portion.
Yirui Z — Google review
The service was phenomenal, but our entrees were quite frankly inedible. I really wish I had said something, but we were celebrating a birthday, so I didn’t want to tarnish the evening. The attached photo was of my entree, it’s poached salmon. There was absolutely no seasoning, my friends and I were fighting over the salt that came with the table butter. Our bill was over $900 for four people. I really wish we had a better experience considering how much we were looking forward to this meal and how much we had spent.

Came to Spruce and really enjoyed the food. The fancy corn velouté soup was so tasty and comforting. The homemade pasta was packed with truffle flavor, definitely a highlight. Only downside for me was the jasmine tea. It was super strong and left me feeling a bit jittery afterwards. Overall though, great food, nice vibe, and worth checking out if you’re in the area!
Ms. L — Google review
The staff are always the cornerstone of any notable restaurant experience, and Spruce’s team genuinely delivered. Our server, Michael, was so kind, and his attentiveness really made our night. Every dish was beautifully and creatively presented, but our favorites were the Yukon potatoes and the Wagyu New York Strip. As someone with celiac disease, I felt incredibly well cared for. The staff was knowledgeable, which helped with restaurant anxiety regarding gluten. Really thoughtful modifications were made to ensure our meals were both entirely gluten-free, which did not compromise the flavor! That especially can be hard to find in a restaurant. :) Really really enjoyed once again, could not recommend more. Concerning the first picture, I did dim the light a bit! It’s not that dark in person, but it is a dimmer & more intimate setting.

Very nice restaurant with top class service and elegant atmosphere. The food was the best part: everything was perfectly cooked and presented . Would love to come back and have the black truffle pasta again! The giant cookie was also delicious 🤤

New American restaurant
Tartine Manufactory is a spacious and vibrant spot located in the Mission district, known for its exceptional bread, pastries, and sandwiches. The bakery offers a variety of options including heritage grain loaves, sweet pastries, and rustic sandwiches. The sourdough crust on their pies is particularly noteworthy for its unique texture and flavor. In addition to the bakery, there's a coffee counter, ice cream window, and small wine bar available.
If you are a bread lover, head over to Tartine without a doubt. The quality, heartiness & freshness is amazing. We tried a bunch of things - croissant (classic), avocado toast (unique take with spicy nut salsa), the egg sandwich (so satisfying) and the mushroom chive cheese danish( umamified). The coffee beautifully compliments the meal. The place gives off an industrial chic vibe with bright windows pouring in nice daylight. Great breakfast/brunch place overall.

Tartine never stops exceeding my expectations. Every time I visit, I’m blown away. The sourdough bread is absolutely spectacular—perfectly tangy and elastic, a true testament to quality craftsmanship. All the ingredients are top-notch. The turkey sandwich was simply sublime. I especially want to highlight the hospitality and service of Juan. It’s clear he’s a genuinely kind person—gracious, attentive, and made us feel completely at home. His warmth truly elevated the experience. We’ll definitely be coming back to Tartine.
Luca M — Google review
The croissant was so good with a proper crunch followed by soft buttery layers. The ham and cheese worked well together to make this a savory bite but it was surprising that the jalapeño slices were essentially like eating the raw pepper (not great - but overlooking it because the croissant was so good!). I wish the croissant was warmed as it probably would have taken it to the next level. That aside, lovely atmosphere at the Manufactory with lots of seating and natural light. They also seem to be using plates from the neighboring ceramics shop which was a nice touch. There was a short queue outside the building on a Saturday afternoon but it moved quickly.

13 of us dined here on a Saturday night for a birthday celebration. We had the fixed chefs menu, and to say that no one leaves hungry is an understatement! There was such an amazing variety of appetizers, salads, pizza, and desserts! We had five courses with 13 different menu items brought to the table shared family style. Our server was attentive and made sure we all had a special evening. I would highly recommend Tartine for any occasion if you want delicious food, a nice atmosphere, and excellent service!

Everything was delicious! We got the baked salmon tartine, omlette, a goat cheese fig pastry and coffee. We cleaned our plates! There is a bit of a wait to get in an order but TOTALLY worth it!! One of the best Brunch spots in the bay for sure.

Came here on a Saturday morning and wow the line was so long! Good: - The bread with butter was amazing even though it was just bread! - The egg sandwich was amazing - really liked the combo of cheese with the bread - The seating is plentiful and it's very beautiful inside, modern and upscale vibes Bad: - The line is definitely long, we waited about 45 min to get inside - The staff are always walking around and watching to make sure people aren't sitting for too long - it's nice but it's also a bit anxiety inducing Overall this place was beautiful inside, and glad that I finally got a chance to eat here!

Great option for brunch. The food was amazing and their wine options were fantastic for breakfast wine! There was a line outside but we realized it was line to order not to grab a table. The bread is delicious as well. My friend got the fig pastry and said it was perfect.
Dianne N — Google review
The sourdough bread is amazing. Super light and crunchy on the outside and moist and soft on the inside. A must order. The kale Caesar is a nice balanced Caesar salad. Would recommend. The crab gnocchi was super pillow-y soft and a lighter creaminess. The bit of lemon really helped the dish. In order of recommendation: bread > kale salad > crab gnocchi.

Nestled in San Francisco's Chinatown, the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory has been a local gem since 1962. Tucked away in Ross Alley, this unassuming bakery is known for its handmade fortune cookies, which are made right before your eyes in a tiny open kitchen. Despite its small size, the factory produces an impressive 20,000 cookies daily and offers tours for visitors to witness the mesmerizing process.
Family owned for 65 years. Always a long line, but worth the wait. It is on Ross street in an alley. Fresh made fortune cookies. Owners are so nice and generous always giving free samples to eat. You can also write personal messages on your name for a personalized fortune cookie.
Jamil Q — Google review
Super fresh fortune cookies but the lines get long and busy quite often from all the tourists and frequent patrons. Its located in a side alley in Chinatown but you can't miss it because its easily spotted with groups of tourists always around the shop. Its fun to watch the workers do their magic in the back of the shop.
Eltea — Google review
We absolutely LOVE the Fortune Cookie Factory. I’ve been coming here for about 20+ years because they are fresh and made right here. You will get free samples when you walk in and you can watch the cookies made right in front of you. In 20 years I’ve never been here on a Saturday - the one Saturday the line was all the way down the alley! I recommend going on a weekday if you can. My kids love it - I love it and the cookies get eaten so quickly.
Jessica H — Google review
The Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory is a fun place to visit. The cookies are made fresh daily and taste absolutely delicious. They also give free samples to those waiting in line to enter. Prices are reasonable and the cookies come in an assortment of flavors. You can even do custom fortune cookies in individual boxes. It's such a cute gift idea.
Vindy C — Google review
My friend, Robin and I visited the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Store. We got an opportunity to watch the workers make fortune cookies. They smelled so yummy and the taste matched the smell, ummm. She bought six bags of fortune cookies and they gave her two more for her purchase. I had never seen chocolate or strawberry fortune cookies before, a big wow moment. I absolutely will be going back next time I visit San Francisco.
Micki K — Google review
Off the beaten path in an alley is the best fortune cookies ever made. One step in the door and you are handed a sample. Small shop allows you to watch the cookie folding. Was just amazing. Make your own fortune for someone in an adorable box. And the selection of cookies to choose from…AMAZING. My only regret…not buying more while I was there, you can’t order online for shipping. Where do I find these gems out in the real world? You must stop and stock up!!
Nicki N — Google review
The Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory is a fun and quick stop if you’re exploring Chinatown in San Francisco. It’s a tiny shop, often packed with tourists eager to see how fortune cookies are made by hand using old-school machines. Because of the constant crowd, your visit will likely be very brief—maybe 3 minutes at most to watch the workers in action. Still, it’s a unique glimpse into the process behind those familiar cookies you get at Chinese restaurants. You can buy pre-packaged fortune cookies here, with prices ranging from $8 to $12 per bag. It’s a bit pricey, but you’re also paying for the novelty and the experience. Great for a quick photo and a snack, but don’t expect a full-on tour.
Dai D — Google review
I've had a wonderful experience and a terrible experience here. Wonderful experience was when there was no line and my kids had a chance to watch the fortune cookies get made for an extended period of time and I had a chance to take a bunch of photos. Terrible experiences on Fourth of July weekend when there was a huge line and we were pushed through like cattle and greeted by a pushy, rude Woman who basically shoves a bunch of stuff in my bag without even checking in and then rudely asked for payment. I would still come back here again but my experience has been forever soured.

Cinderella Bakery & Cafe is a beloved gem nestled in the Richmond District, serving up traditional Russian delights since 1953. This charming establishment offers an array of comforting pastries, including savory piroshkis and flaky treats that evoke nostalgia with every bite. The menu is a delightful journey through classic flavors, featuring hearty dishes like borsch and pelmeni served in rich broth.
I've been wanting to visit this place for a long time, and finally, last Saturday, I had the chance to have lunch there. I will return every time I get the opportunity. It has a reputation for a reason: delicious, simple food, a wide selection, reasonable prices, fast service, and the food tastes simply amazing. Everything I tried was fantastic! The only thing I wish for is a bigger place, but I suppose that's something we all want to. I just want more stomach and time to try every dish on their menu! If you haven't visited this place yet, don't hesitate. I do not doubt that every item on their menu is worth trying and tastes delicious.

My husband and I came to San Francisco today from Sacramento and chose Cinderella Bakery & Café for lunch. We ordered borscht and fried dumplings — everything was delicious and very home-style! Authentic Ukrainian food that brought back warm memories. We especially loved that there’s a wide variety of baked goods, pastries, and Ukrainian dishes and drinks. The staff was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the outdoor seating area with covered benches — cozy and surprisingly dust-free even though it’s near the road. Portions are generous — you’ll definitely leave full. The only downside was that the tables were a bit sticky and the interior felt a bit dated — though that kind of added to the nostalgic charm. If you’re craving real Ukrainian food, I definitely recommend stopping by.

This place is definitely popular for a reason. They have extensive menus with Russian dishes. Non-Russian items look fabulous as well. My friend recommended Fried Perosky (a kind of bread with stuffing). It tastes great when it's warm. When I bring it back home and toast until it is slightly crispy, it is even better! I am looking forward to trying many more things there.

Stopped by Cinderella, a German bakery in Richmond, and it’s such a charming spot. The pastries and desserts were excellent and tasted authentic (Not that I could tell), with a good variety to choose from. The place itself has a cozy, welcoming feel and the staff were friendly. It does get busy, so expect a line, but the food and atmosphere make it worth the wait. A great place to try if you’re in the area and want something authentic and delicious.

Authentic, affordable, tasty Russian cuisine paired with big-portioned and wide variety of sweets and pastries. What’s not to like? I’ve been here a few times and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend the Borscht soup.

Cinderella Bakery Cafe is an absolute gem and my top choice for fresh pastries and coffee. The moment you step inside, the warm smell of baked goods and the inviting atmosphere make you feel at home. Their pastries are always perfectly fresh, flaky, and full of flavor, while the coffee is rich and smooth. The staff is friendly and attentive, adding to the welcoming vibe. Whether you’re here for breakfast, a sweet treat, or a cozy break in your day, this place is a true delight and well worth the visit.

Café Cinderella is a great spot on San Francisco’s culinary map. They serve delicious Russian and Eastern European food and desserts. The Polish pierogi stuffed with cheese are truly authentic, and the Russian soups, like solyanka, are outstanding. Portions are generous and very filling, and the prices are quite reasonable. What I also really appreciated is that, despite the low prices and casual, bar-like atmosphere, they still serve everything on ceramic plates with real metal cutlery. Overall, I can highly recommend this place.
S. R — Google review
Small bakery and cafe spot. Their borscht seems to be one of the most popular dishes, as I have seem quite a few people eating it anytime I come by to grab an Eclair. Which, by the way, are great! Hard to find a decent eclair in SF, and this place definitely scratches that itch! All sitting is in the outside, so if its a windy or rainy day, you might want to consider take out.

Desserts: 5/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Overall: I have to say that there are some definite hits from this place. The extended review... Desserts: Milky Way Bombe - 5/5 - This is a nice combination of textures and flavors. For the most part it's all chocolate but again a nice assortment of textures. You get a crispy shell, creamy mousse, and fluffy cake on the inside. Red Velvet Cake - 5/5 - A very moist cake base and fluffy and tasty cream cheese frosting. I have to say this is one the best ones I've had. Oreo Cake - 5/5 - Just like the Red Velvet Cake, the cake is very moist and tasty. It also has a similar cream cheese frosting with some oreos in it. SO YUM!!!! Raspberry St German Eclair - 3.5/5 - the texture was consistent with standard eclairs and the filling was quite nice. What I loved was the different flavor of the traditional eclair. Service: 3.5/5 - Friendly service. Ambiance: 4/5 - It has a good space for taking a seat to enjoy yourself once this pandemic is over.

First things first: I bought a 6” strawberry cake for a birthday (which was INCREDIBLY tasty, so fresh and good! Highly recommend— the buttercream is the perfect sweetness). Glad to support a local bakery as opposed to Whole Foods 😊 The in-store experience was kind of chaotic though. I went on Saturday morning around 9am and there was a long line outside. That’s fine, but while waiting we all had to listen to constant uncomfortable heckling from someone sitting by the door, saying “go in, go in!!!” even though it was very crowded inside. Even when going inside, it was pretty confusing and you’re constantly dodging people left and right who are shuffling around either waiting for part of their paid order or a preorder pickup or something. It felt like the whole order system could benefit with a little more structure to help with the volume of people inside. Staff were doing their best despite the rush! I also picked up a small fruit tart and morning bun when I was there, but those were kind of a letdown. 4 stars for the amazing cake!

Arizmendi Bakery is a worker-owned cooperative with multiple locations in the Bay Area, offering a variety of thin-crust pizzas and freshly baked sweet treats. While the bakery is known for its gluten-based products, they also provide wheat-free options such as muffins, scones, and cookies. The daily take-n-bake pizzas are popular among visitors and are less saucy with unique toppings like figs, asparagus, and leek.
First time at the SF Arizmendi, as a vegan I passed over classics like the cheese roll, and the corn muffins in the photo which looked amazing. I grabbed 2 warm English muffins, resisting the temptation to eat one immediately, and a tomato round, which I took multiple bites of while in line. Why? Because the tomatoes were still warm and each bite was a choreographed dance between the crust, middle, and sweet juicy tomatoes. Yes, in the future I will warm this up before indulging!!! Amazing worker owned cooperative bakery, step inside the double doors and get something delicious.

Gotta be honest, it was a bit disappointing of a visit for me. I got the vegan focaccia and it was alright, but nothing remarkable. I also asked if it could be warmed up and the cashier just told me no. I later learned it was bc they don’t have microwaves available (just the ovens all the things bake in), so the only hot items are the pizza of the day and possibly the soup, but the nature of the checkout interaction left me less than happy. As consolation there is a nice enough seating area in front of the shop, where I had some good conversation with friends and watched other city folk go about their afternoon.

For today’s breakfast my friend took my girlfriend and I to Arizmendi Bakery since it’s her go-to spot with her dad. Right off the bat, you get the smell of fresh baked bread coming from the displays of sweet and savory pastries. Today was fairly empty with not a long wait line. Per usual, I was very indecisive on what to choose. I knew I wanted to get something sweet and something savory. The savory choice was pretty easy; I like mushrooms, onions, and spinach and the focaccia satisfies that. The sweet stuff on the other hand was a bit tricky; there are scones, muffins, cookies, and more. I was leaning toward the molasses ginger cookie but ultimately chose the chocolate thing since it seemed more appetizing to my girlfriend. First off, the focaccia is delicious. There savory-saltiness of the mushrooms really stands out and I’m a big fan of that personally. The focaccia is great and chewy, perfect to get in a quick jaw workout. I usually prefer focaccias warmed/toasted but even at ambient temperature it was so good. The chocolate thing was also good but not as good as the focaccia. I know we’re comparing apples and oranges here but still. The Chocolate Thing’s texture is soft and fluffy, a nice contrast with the focaccia chewiness. The only “issue” I have with the Chocolate Thing is the amount of chocolate. There were only a few chocolate chips sparse throughout the bread. It didn’t seem enough to warrant the name “Chocolate Thing”. The bread overall was really good though. If it didn’t have any chocolate it’d be great for a sweet marmalade spread or even a savory sandwich. I likely wouldn’t choose this particular pastry again. I think I’d go with a cookie next time I’m here. On individual baked good basis, I’d rate the focaccia 5/5 and the chocolate thing 4/5 I think. This is probably one of the few times I shouldn’t have listened to my girlfriend and should’ve gone with my gut and gotten the molasses ginger cookie. This review’s obviously only for these two pastries; your mileage may vary with other choices but I assume everything else is up to par. Great place overall, I can see why it’s my friend’s go-to.

Nestled in the heart of Hayes Valley, Miette is a delightful French patisserie that captivates visitors with its charming pastel-colored decor and enchanting ambiance. This sweet haven has been delighting San Francisco since 2001, specializing in whimsical cakes and an array of delectable baked goods. From their signature macarons to old-fashioned candies like crisp meringues and rich caramel toffee, Miette offers a taste experience that transports you around the world.
This is such a cute candy shop with a nice assortment of baked goods, namely macrons and cupcakes. The macrons are so sizeable and not artificial and a cute little treat. The candy selection is great and they have a large selection, including hard to find candies from abroad. The vibe makes it a must stop!

Minette is a cute French patisserie offering gourmet bakery goods and an assortment of candies. The charming pastel colored space is vibrant and welcoming. I stopped by this patisserie to buy a set of 8 macarons and try their chocolate and Italian meringue cupcake. The set of 8 macarons includes 8 different flavors - 1. Chocolate 2. Pistachio 3. Dulce de Leche 4. Pumpkin 5. Hazelnut 6. Rose geranium 7. Coffee 8. Vanilla Unfortunately, they all look almost similar except for chocolate. The set doesn't come with an info card to mention the different flavors in the box. When my friends and I tried them all, there were some flavors that were easy to tell and some not so much. Rose macaron had a really strong flavor while some others had mild flavors (pistachio and hazelnut) The macarons were a bit dense. The shell wasn't as crunchy. The chocolate and Italian meringue cupcake was decent. The meringue had the right consistency and flavor, but the bread didn't feel as airy and light. The gummy was a nice touch.

If you are looking for a nostalgic sweet shop, look no further than Miette in Hayes Valley. This shop has glass candy jars full of sour, hard and chewy candies. Then there are the baked goods (cookies, cupcakes, bread loafs and macarons)! The pastel decor complements all the goodies so you want to buy more! So have a get together of loved ones and share. Otherwise all this sugar will send you on a high; but it won’t be as good as looking at the sweet faces of your beloved ones when you bring them these treats.

They were fresh, crispy, and chewy, with a variety of flavors to choose from 🍬 The best part was the happy hour deal, where you can get 50% off on all macaroons from 5pm to 6pm every day. That's a great offer! The location was also convenient, near Hayes and close to many other shops 🚶🏻‍♂️ This place is worth a try for macaroon lovers. As the joke goes, "Quelle est la différence entre un bonbon et un gâteau? Le bonbon est sucré, le gâteau est sucrant" 🇫🇷

Flour and Branch is a bakery that is known for its delicious breakfast items and snacks, as well as its lunch menu which features chicken pot pie and salads made with the best local ingredients.
I had the pleasure of visiting with some friends for breakfast, and it was absolutely amazing! The owner was incredibly sweet and provided outstanding customer service. He took the time to explain the menu and recommend some great dishes, showing so much patience. The pancakes were by far the best I've ever had, and the cookies were simply irresistible. Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and made from scratch. I can’t wait to return—everything was just so delicious and the place itself is so cute and cozy!

Such a cute little spot! The cafe is small, cozy, and very aesthetic — perfect for a relaxing coffee break. The food was phenomenal. The croissant and danish were fresh, warm, buttery, and perfectly flaky. The hot cocoa was amazing too — not overly sweet, just the right balance with a hint of cinnamon that made it even better. Definitely a gem worth visiting in SF!

Michael is a happy host! Amazing breakfast bagels and pastries. Coffee is strong and delicious. Warm and relaxing atmosphere. Nice touches like fine bone china and flatware. Clean toilet is a big plus!

Super cute spot Nice presentation for oat chai latte Great spice level and first class foam Luv the little spice toppings. Definitely one of the best chai latte in awhile compared to other watery and dull ones from other shops. No vegan baked goods🙁, so can't highly recommend for vegan consumption.

Dear Four and Branch! Your pastries as far from "normal". I've been obsessed with the twice baked pecan&chocolate croissant, this is just a small heaven in the middle of the day. I recommend to go there, you'll feel like home! i just decided to take one to me flight back to Estonia to feel cozy! Take care, Kristina

I wasnt ready for how many pastry options this place had. All of them super delicious sounding and the kind man working there gave me a full breakdown of all the options. I was looking for something savory so I went with the breakfast Danish with the egg. I also tried a Lions mane latte like drink which was delicious. I want to come back and try more !

Saw all the rave reviews and their focus on high quality ingredients so decided try out brunch + pastries at this cute & cozy cafe. Did not disappoint! Prices are mostly justified by good ingredients used and the careful preparation. Breakfast sandy was great, although the patty is on the heavier side. Mushrooms and Gruyère danish was also amazing. Would come back for the pastries and see if they have lighter options!

Family owned clean, beautiful ambience with the best pastries I can recall having since my last trip to Paris! Amazing place to relax have a coffee as it’s not super loud and has lovely seating. I had egg and bacon pastry - AMAZING - while I did 30 min of work. Couldn’t have had a better experience!! ps: the ham is made in house and it’s unbelievable delicious.

Located in San Francisco's Mission District, Dandelion Chocolate 16th Street Factory is a haven for chocolate lovers. The factory offers guided tours where visitors can witness the entire chocolate-making process and even participate in hands-on courses. Dandelion sources cocoa beans from various regions like Peru, Ecuador, and Madagascar to create unique flavors. The on-site cafe serves up delectable pastries and a twist on teatime with an Afternoon Chocolate Tea featuring a three-course chocolate tasting menu.
That was one of the best tours we've had! Graham was so well versed and funny when he was telling us about the process. He answered all questions no problem. Took us from harvesting to roasting to tempering and all steps in between to finally making the bars. Would also like to mention Bruno who works at the Bloom cafe inside. He was so kind and helpful! Tour is about 1 hour long, babies are allowed, but there are 3 steps during the tour in and out. Not too loud but bring headphones for baby. Street parking available but hard to find so come early. Tour comes with a free drink
Tracy S — Google review
The hour-long factory tour led by Graham and first time tour guide trainee Jasper is absolutely worth the price of admission. If you love learning how good it made, if you just love similarly made drinks like wine, beer, and coffee, or if you are simply a nerd and/or a chocolate lover this tour is for you. I don't know how I missed this location, only about a 20 minute walk from the much smaller Valencia location. Absolutely top tier and I will returning specifically to this location for the expanded menu, drinks, and excellent experience from every staff member I encountered. I greatly enjoyed bith the iced house mocha, and the hot European drinking chocolate - talk to your barista if you prefer more or less sweet drinks for customization and recommendations.

such a vibe. the chocolate cream pie is the best. Honestly, you can’t go wrong. Unlimited gourmet marshmallows. the hot chocolate is too sweet for many but perfect for me. The people are kind, the restrooms squeaky clean and the ambiance sublime. Perfect for co working, reliable wifi and delicious sparkling water. It’s a go to for me in the city to ground and create.

I wish I had more time to do a factory tour here. This place is fantastic. The spiced hot chocolate was amazing. Loved the variety of pastries and goods. Appreciated the ability to nibble on the different chocolate offerings from various locations with their own distinct flavor profiles.

Vegan carrot cake was amazing! Not dry. The mocha coffee had a bold taste. This is definitely for a dark chocolate lover.

We did the chocolate tour and I really enjoyed learning the process, my husband also enjoyed asking lots of questions about the mechanics and engineering of the various machines utilized in the process. The Chocolate ambassador is very knowledgeable. You get a few pieces of chocolate on the tour as well as being able to sample all the bars from different regions without taking the tour. At the end of our tour we received tickets to get a free drink which was a pleasant surprise as we had planned to get a coffee there after and this way we just had to purchase the espresso shots.

Kantine is a Scandinavian-inspired cafe located on Market Street, offering a variety of breakfast and lunch options from different Scandinavian countries. The menu includes specialties like Frosnapper, almond Kringle, Swedish semlor, and Copenhagen-style brunch boards with an assortment of items perfect for sharing. The cafe is known for its trout bowls, crispy breakfast sandwiches, and sweet treats that pair well with their excellent coffee.
very authentically scandi! i recommend the hot trout bowl- so good. northern europeans know their stuff about fish and potatoes. loved my kardemumma kaffe and it was so nice to see classic swedish buns 💜 made me really miss home which is how you know it’s legit. for the people complaining saying it’s too healthy/bland/expensive/small portions….. food is healthy and simple in northern europe! portions are small and quality ingredients are expensive. that’s just how it goes in norden. thanks for a taste of home in sf <3 source: i’m danish-american, have lived in sweden and was married to a swede so i have a pretty good grasp on nordic fare!
Ngn — Google review
Kantine serves delicious Scandinavian food. They have a wide selection of great-tasting healthy options (sweet porridge, salty porridge, hot smoked trout bowls, seasonal sandwiches) and less healthy but equally delicious pastries. Coffee is ok, the interior is cute as well.

Always a pleasant and delicious visit. I’m often inspired but Kantine’s weekend specials—pastries & dishes. Even with a longer than usual line, I can find a spot to sit and stay for a little while. The staff is friendly and efficient with fulfilling orders, especially on the busiest of weekends.

Brilliant Scandinavian cafe in Hayes Valley, my favorite in the area. They have a very unique selection of pastries and breakfasts. Don’t skip the kardemumma kaffe! The Cardamom morning bun is also delicious.

TLDR great vibes great pastries ok food! The tebirkes croissant was amazing. The cardamon knot was a bit overhyped we found it just ok. Food was mediocre - very aesthetic and healthy but honestly overpriced for what it is (porridge, bread, butter, jam, cheese, egg) like you can just make at home haha there’s nothing special about the flabors. No technique involved either. Just simple healthy ingredients (at least the brunch plate and porridge) so don’t get all the hype tbh. But pastries are amazing!

great food and great atmosphere—perfect for a weekend breakfast / brunch! i got the trout bowl and the cardamom knot and both were tasty and fresh :) will definitely add this spot to the list of my go-to’s!

The best way to find a cool cafe serving great food, just stumbling across it whilst waiting for the local record store to open (at midday! Lazy! 😆). I had the cured trout in a seeded roll with potato crema and salad. Delicious. And as good as anything Ole and Steen can rustle up. Glad I ordered 2 Swedish Caves (crumbly jam-filled treats) as I got most the first one all down myself. Super friendly and handsome staff. Highly recommended.
Themightychew — Google review
I usually run in for coffee and their baked goods which are delicious. Their Cardamon Morning Buns, Semlor Bun, a cardamon bun with cream filling, almond croissants, and I love their cookies esp. the Kolasnittar (caramel slices) and their Jam Caves, a Scandinavian Thumbprint. The cafe is a little off the beaten track on Market (away from Downtown), a couple of blocks from Zuni Cafe. Parking is not too bad if you go up the hill away from Market St. It’s cute place with a nice vibe. I intend to have a meal there soon, their plates look delicious with whole grain breads, cheeses, porridges, eggs & salmon. As an aside, they also have a cookbook, Scandinavian from Scratch. I had a couple of questions on a recipe and asked when I happened to stop in for pastries. Nichole, the owner and creator was there and was really nice and helpful troubleshooting the recipe!

Bakery
The bakery Black Jet Baking Co. is a small neighborhood cafe that serves breakfast, baked goods, coffee and tea. The doughnuts here are ridiculously thick and the pizza is very yummy - it's like a fluffy Japanese cheesecake! However, some Italians may have been shocked and irritated with the unusual thickness of the pizza. The red sauce was tasty, but I would have loved it more if there was more cheese on top.
I had the Detroit style cheese pizza on sourdough bread. I believe the sourdough was from the Bernal Basket. Regardless, it was pretty damn good! I also had the coffee cake, which was nice and firm. Seating is virtually non-existent, so plan to take the food out.

It's a nice little place with plenty of options for drinks, pastries, and sandwiches. Friendly service. I got a mushroom focaccia, and it was delicious with great texture.
P — Google review
Met the chef who was very helpful in our decision making process. The chocolate twist was delicious - more savory/bitter than sweet. The rhubarb pop tart made our cheeks pucker a bit but the one of us that loves rhubarb (unsurprisingly) loved it. The pizzas and sandwiches looked very good. Sounds like they do a pizza deal on Tuesdays.
Alicia D — Google review
I had high hopes for this bakery after hearing about it six months ago and seeing that they offered my favorite flavor—yellow cake with chocolate frosting. I was so excited to finally order it for my birthday. Unfortunately, the experience left me really disappointed. The cake wasn’t what I expected at all. Instead of being light and fluffy, it was dense and gummy—almost like it hadn’t finished baking. I’ve never ordered from here before, so I’m not sure if that’s just their usual texture, but it definitely didn’t work for me. At $70, I was hoping for something special, and it was frustrating not to have a cake I could truly enjoy on my birthday. Hoping this was just an off day, but unfortunately, it was a complete miss for me.

I’ve been a regular at Black Jet Baking Co. in Bernal Heights for a while now, stopping by at least once a week for my fix of fresh baked goods and excellent coffee. On my latest visit, we grabbed a few sandwiches that hit the spot, along with a coffee bun, a homemade pop tart, and a blueberry scone—all of which were absolutely delicious and perfectly baked. The coffee here is consistently great, with rich flavor that pairs so well with their pastries. If you’re in the neighborhood, this spot is a must-try for anyone who appreciates quality, small-batch baking! Highly recommend.

We’ve partnered with Black Jet Bakery for several large office catering orders, and they’ve been incredible every time. The team is super organized, easy to communicate with, and always punctual. They take the stress out of planning by helping us build a fun, delicious menu that covers all dietary needs, and the setup is always seamless. Our employees absolutely love their food; it’s always one of the most talked-about parts of any event. They also work thoughtfully within our budget and add personal touches that make a big difference. We’re so happy to work with them and look forward to the next time!

A wonderful business. Their pastries are superb, much touted in the press, award winning ( most recently rated Best Bakery by 48 Hills 2025). And the people who own this business are the real deal: masters of their craft, giving, community oriented.
Sharman D — Google review
Black Jet Baking Co. offers a great selection of pastries. There is usually a short line but service was quick and friendly, and prices are reasonable. I have tried the following items: - The egg, ham and cheese breakfast sandwich was a little disappointing. I wish that it was served hotter (it was just warm) and the eggs are freshly cooked instead of a scramble patty. - The everything snail tasted delicious with rich and savory flavor, although I barely saw any cream cheese that it was supposed to be stuffed with. - The chocolate twist has basically the croissant texture but in a funky shape. It was quite good. - The cheese in the ham and cheese croissant is hard and dry but the croissant texture is pretty good just like the chocolate twist. They also serve a decent cup of coffee. Overall this is a cool local place to get your breakfast.

delicious german bakery! ordered the beesting cake and poppy seed roll beesting cake: one of the best cakes I’ve ever had! the cream is so light and it pairs really well with the almond layer on top good mix of textures and flavours + not too sweet! poppy seed roll: expected poppy seed lemon flavour, but what made it really good was the crumble on top! it added a nice change in texture the roll was very large for the price so it was a good snack for our picnic :-)

High quality deliciousness. Been to Germany like 5 times and you notice things that stand out. Good beer, driving fast on the freeway, and outstanding bakery goods. This place can legit add German bakery in their name cuz they are smacking and the quality control is on point to how i had it in the Homeland

I absolutely love this place—their cakes are fabulous! However, it would be great if they could stick to their posted hours. I arrived at 2:50 PM on a Wednesday, and there was a sign outside that said open (I’ve attached a photo). The cashier was inside but told me they were already closed, which was confusing. I used to stop by around this time every week after work, so it was disappointing. If they’re closing before 3 PM, it would really help to update the posted hours so customers know what to expect.
Patricia M — Google review
Black forest cake and ham and cheese pretzel crossiant (I think it was) tasted ok. I wasn't in love. They do have more selection on their website online. There was no wait. Make sure to arrive before closing time otherwise they will be completely packed up. There were 4 cakes to choose from, roughly 5-7 baked goods (pastries and crossiant types). I prefer sweeter cakes.
Kathleen C — Google review
The pastry from this place is out of this world!! If you are passing by and this store is open, just go in and invite yourself to the best Berliner ever!!! I can’t believe what I am eating right now that I am writing this review :))) the best part? The lady who works there is super kind!
Fateh M — Google review
Very average black forest cake and way overpriced at $9 a slice. What was most disappointing was that we were told we couldn’t get coffee or even sit down to eat our cake, because the cashier had “already mopped up and stopped serving coffee” at 2pm (an hour before the advertised closing time)!! She was also very pre-occupied with her phone rather than providing customer service. Rubbish experience and a waste of $9….wish we hadn’t bothered!
Geraldine Y — Google review
Their new cashier is abysmal. When I met her first, she was too busy with a phone call to her friend instead of selling things. Today, I arrived at 2:45pm. However, she had already closed the register and closed the blinds. She lied to me that they were closed and that all the cake on display was „reserved“ [sic]. 2 almost full cakes and another 5 individual pieces. I know that preordered cake is in the large separate fridge. Also, the door was clearly open. Hence they were not closed. It takes me one hour to get to this place and I used to love it. Not sure if I will ever return with that service.

Seriously, good bakery, and seriously great people. It’s a neighborhood treasure. I went there for the first time today and I will definitely be going back. I tried the peanut butter cookie and the baguette, and they were both excellent and my friend had some other loaves of bread and told me about all kinds of other Great stuff that he gets there regularly

Very small area to sit inside, medium outdoor area to sit. Somewhat limited selection, bread focused. Blueberry strawberry scone was delicious. Chocolate chip cookie was decent and my cortado was not to my liking. The bread looked really good, but didn't try any.

Hip and popular small bakery and coffee built out of a remodeled house, adding to the Sunset’s wealth of good bakeries and patisseries. I showed up right at 9:10am, basically at opening, and there was already a small line. Within 5 minutes, the line grew quite a bit. All of the hype is certainly deserved as Day Moon can bake both good bread and pastries. I had a Pear Hazelnut Cake and a plain Sesame Bun and would undoubtedly get both again, but I definitely want to try their full loaves of bread next time I swing by.

TLDR: small bakery with outdoor seating with interesting bakery options I tried the peanut butter cookie which was a little chewier than I would have imagined but the blackberry and pear scone was amazingly soft and airy, not rock hard like I’ve seen other scones… it’s more like a muffin than a scone to me! Coffee was relatively inexpensive and paired well with the items.

Le Dix-Sept Pâtisserie is a charming bakery located on Mission Street, featuring a picturesque setting with pink details against natural wood planks. The ambiance exudes a backyard bake sale vibe, offering high-end French pastries including the rarely found caneles. The outdoor seating area is adorned with plants, creating a delightful atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their botanical-inspired baked goods.
It has been a few years since a new pastry shop has really impressed me. We are in a city that has spoiled us. Yet le dix-sept elevated the experience to a different level. The cannele was the perfect texture, the best l've had. The merengue was impossibly airy and light. The bread pudding had a great flavor. They also had a few gluten free items that my partner really loved.

Oh wow! This was worth the trip to the mission despite the chaos of an unexpected parade! We loved the buckwheat brownie with bitter cocoa nibs and the cornmeal raspberry scone.
Alicia D — Google review
In carousing with my buddies after lunch, I was introduced to a hoity-toity bakery and I just loved their decadence in flavor and style. In these pictures, the first one is what I had, their version of brownies. One of my buddies picked up a focaccia, the second shot, which looked so tempting, with the texture looking so divine. The rest are the shop's clean, sharp and minimalist interior and exterior presentation. It was a great introduction to this place, Le Dix-Sept Patisserie. For years now, there has been quite a boutique culinary movement in the city in producing some of the best artisan bread and pastries, and I have no complaints about that. I certainly had no complaints about the brownies I devoured.
Ray S — Google review
So I wanted to love this place, it’s cute, there was an art pop up outside, but I love canneles and theirs were unforgivable. Tiniest I have ever seen and they were so so burnt. Look at the photo of how tiny they look in my toddler’s hands and look how burnt and thick what should be a caramelized exterior is. I would not sell those at all let alone at $5 a piece. The rest of the baked goods pictured: breakfast bread (not filled enough but good flavor), passion fruit almond tart (dry but good passion fruit flavor), and the cookie my other toddler would not share and ate every last crumb of it so I assume it was super sweet. The cinnamon coffee special was tasty but overly overpriced for what it is.

Cute little spot in the mission. The passionfruit ginger fizz drink was amazing! I also really enjoy their focaccia bread too. But it’s kinda pricey if I’m being honest. That shouldn’t stop you from checking this adorable place out though.

No matter the theme, Le Dix Sept delivers pastry greatness. I can’t recommend this place more highly.

Put your fat pants on when you go to Little Bee Bakery. Owned by the former head pastry chef of famed Chez Panisse, it channels Norman Rockwell to fit seamlessly into the surrounding Bernal Heights neighborhood. The small display case serves up an array of sweet and savory delights, generously butter-enriched, and only those with an alien level of restraint will be able to leave with just one item. Spread your purchases out on the farm table inside to eat at your leisure and, if you have children, make them play with the toys Little Bee provides so you can eat whatever you bought for them, too. You'll have to get your sugar fix at another establishment on Wednesdays, however - the one day Little Bee is closed.

The shop is notorious for its delicious Cannolis, Tiramisu, Sacripantina, and Fedora cakes. Visitors praise the light, moist, decadent, and flavorful treats that are not overly sweet.
An adequate space to have coffee and dessert in the North Beach area in San Francisco aka Little Italy was a very good experience. Mind you I’ve had their tiramisu before but this is the first time I’ll have them at their shop. Lots of really good & yummy selection but I want to have the one that’s already been tested…the tiramisu….and as always it didn’t fail. If you want authentic best tasting tiramisu….Stella is the place! I went 6pm on a Thursday night and all the tables inside were occupied which is a good sign. That said I had to use 1 of the 2 outdoor tables which I didn’t mind. I would’ve opted for it anyway. Next target…their cream puff! I can’t wait to come back again this time with friends! 😋👌🏼 There was only 1 person working but service was still a delight.

Mixed Berry Tart > Tiramisu > Fedora Slice Everything was really enjoyable, and I don’t think you could go wrong with any three of these dishes. My main complaint is that I thought the presence of coffee was very light in the tiramisu, but this may be better for people who are planning on having this as a late-night snack. Also the bottom of the tart was semi-frozen, but the top of this tart was absolutely delectable.

Went to South Bay to grab a Japanese strawberry cake, but they ran out, so when we were back in SF, we saw this place on Google and decided to grab a strawberry cake from here. I was pleasantly surprised. The frosting is not heavily sweet like other bakeries. It tasted just like the Japanese cakes that I’ve gotten. The staff was really nice and patient with us asking many questions. I would stop by again for other cakes.

Nice dessert spot with a great selection of treats, including Napoleon and Custard Cream Horns. We haven’t tried much there, but it’s a solid choice if you're craving something sweet.

Bought two pastries and a single cappuccino. The sacripantina was delicious. Light consistency, easy to eat, but great flavor. The chocolate truffle slice was dense and delicious. A friend told me it was the "best chocolate anything" he's had on this trip while happily choking on the cocoa powder. The single shot cappuccino was strong with dense foam, not bitter. 10/10, highly recommend.
Richard G — Google review
Ordered tiramisu and their sacripantina. Both super solid and delicious- sacripantina is a lot more cream focused with a vanilla flavoring which I did enjoy and their size was pretty reasonable for their price (around $7 per slice)! Pretty small place so might not get seating when it’s packed but good cake stop when craving one!

All of the pastries are very good. Tiramisu is my favorite. I love the coffee as well. Can’t wait to come back for more.

Dandelion Chocolate is a renowned small-batch chocolatier located in the Mission District of San Francisco. Since its establishment in 2010, it has gained recognition for its bean-to-bar chocolate-making process, where they meticulously handle every step from roasting and cracking to grinding and tempering the cocoa beans before crafting them into delectable chocolate bars.
My coworkers bought me the single origin dark chocolate truffles for my birthday. Instead of hoarding them for myself we decided to do a taste test in the office. everyone had different preferences but our favorite overall was the Maya Mountain, Belize. I had everyone taste the chocolates and guess the tasting notes before reading any of the descriptions and it was kind of surprising how accurate some of the guesses were! We had a great time and the chocolates were very high quality and delicious. Looking forward to buying some bars for future snacking.

Absolutely loved my visit to Dandelion Chocolate in San Francisco! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting—perfect for a treat with friends or a relaxing solo break. The highlight has to be their European Hot Chocolate: thick, decadent, and packed with rich dark chocolate flavor, not overly sweet, and perfect for real chocolate lovers. Highly recommended for anyone who loves chocolate or wants to enjoy a special San Francisco spot!
Don M — Google review
Delicious chocolate and homemade gourmet marshmallows. I’ve really enjoyed the cacao fruit smoothie in the past but they had sold out this most recent time I went to visit so I got the iced chocolate chai instead, which came with a tiny cookie, studded with delectable cacao nibs. The iced chocolate chai was very chocolate-forward and didn’t taste much like chai at all to me or my friend but I enjoyed it nonetheless because the dark chocolate was extremely quality dark chocolate. If you love chocolate or even just like it, go to this place and be delighted. It is pricey and you get what you pay for.
Katia M — Google review
This is the best hot chocolate in SF, by far! I recommend the European Hot Chocolate, thick and packed with flavor. Some tables inside, there's a counter and some outside (on Valencia) sits. Do give their dark chocolate tasting a try, you might find something that strikes your fancy! Also one of the very few cafes that stay open until relatively late.

The chocolate and crafty assortments made memorable impressions years ago as souvenirs. They are outstanding gifts to bring back home. The chocolate based drinks are hearty and have a deep, aromatic flavor. Keep in mind though, the price matches the brand name.

Really delicious chocolate snacks, desserts and drinks. The s’more was especially surprising, with contrasting bitter, salty and creamy notes. I loved the chocolate milk (made with oat milk) and the frozen hot chocolate was tasty. Everything was not too sweet.

Dandelion Chocolate is beautifully designed and feels inviting the moment you walk in. The desserts are artfully displayed, and the variety of chocolate flavors is impressive. A thoughtful space that makes you want to slow down and savor.

The Baked Bear is a popular open-air cafe known for its custom-made ice cream sandwiches, cookie bowls, cones, sundaes, and floats. They offer a unique dessert experience with freshly baked cookies and super-premium craft ice cream made from high-quality ingredients. With locations across the country, including one in San Francisco, they bake a variety of cookies and brownies daily to create delicious treats like ice cream sandwiches and warm cookie bowls topped with ice cream.
Always great cookies and brownies after a night out or bar hopping. Great selection of ice cream and toppings, though next time i would skip on the fudge. Their banana cookies and raspberry ice cream is the best combination ever. We went back here for that while its still in season!
Rosita L — Google review
Absolutely wild American dessert concept — sugar overload, but totally worth it! The Baked Bear is one of those places where you walk in knowing you’re about to indulge. You get to choose two bases anything from cookies to brownies and then pick your favorite ice cream flavor. They press it all together into a dreamy dessert sandwich. We went with a chocolate brownie as the base, almond brittle cake ice cream in the middle, and topped it with a classic chocolate chip cookie. They press it with a machine so everything melts just slightly into each other, and it’s heavenly. Sweet? Definitely. Over the top? Yes. But also ridiculously good. Loved every bite.

When it comes to food in the US there are no limitations and this is one of these things. It's basically a burger made out of cookies and ice cream. You should definitely try it out. The only negative thing is the blend of all the different flavors that makes it a little bit hard to enjoy each component. However, it still brings a decent amount of joy.
David N — Google review
Very kind service and tasty offering on the menu. Ice cream is not watery like one could expect in the US, but actually remind Italian gelato. Besides the cookies- as the base for the sandwish- there is also brownie. Single level sandwich is really enough for one person. Service was great. The sellers are nice people. We didnt expect but were gifted a selection of cookies for the kid.

Craving some ice cream, we found this spot where you can customize your ice cream sandwiches. They have cookie sandwiches, brownie sandwiches, combo sandwiches (cookie & brownie), and vegan cookie sandwiches. We got the combo sandwich and asked for it not to be toasted. The sandwich turned out to hold together well, and tasted good!

Press Club is a sleek, cellar-style venue offering an extensive menu of hard-to-find wines and beers. Co-owned by Jan Wiginton and Andy Chun, it has become a popular spot in San Francisco. The subterranean space near Yerba Buena Gardens is perfect for intimate gatherings or as a reliable happy hour option for downtown workers. With a huge wine list, seasonal small plates, and comfortable seating, it's an ideal place to enjoy Californian wines in a sophisticated atmosphere.
I really like Press Club. The atmosphere is so nice and relaxed. It's perfect for hanging out with friends. But the drink I ordered didn't taste that great. Maybe I'll try something different next time.

Le Marais Bakery has firmly established itself as a beloved destination in San Francisco, with its original location nestled in the Castro and a second spot in Polk Gulch. This charming bakery is renowned for its delectable pastries, which can be enjoyed at your table or grabbed to-go from their inviting pastry counter. One of the standout features is their customizable boards, allowing guests to select from an array of delicious options like fresh fruit, creamy avocado, crunchy granola, rich yogurt, and savory smoked salmon.
Couldn’t be happier for having this spot in my neighborhood. They have buttery croissants, good coffee and cute atmosphere. The service sometimes gets slow if they have many guests. My favorite is the chocolate almond croissant. It is super rich and I usually finish it from two takes.
Manana H — Google review
Very cute neighborhood cafe and French bakery. They make everything fresh and from scratch. Best croissants in SF. You feel transported to Paris. The staff is very kind and friendly. Highly recommend.
Simone H — Google review
An escape to Paris right here in the city, adorable! Beautiful interior and and plenty of seating. We had the chocolate almond croissant and a ham/mustard croissant - the sweet croissant had the perfect balance of almond and chocolate and paired well with their coffee. The ham/mustard croissant was also well balanced, although my partner thought there might have been too much mustard. I will return to try their breakfast and sandwich items! I love the open concept of their kitchen, you can see everything they prepare in house!

We’re so lucky to have Le Marais in the Lower Polk neighborhood. Crêpes on weekends. Creamy quiche. Delicious pain suisse. La Colombe coffee. Friendly service.
Gabriel B — Google review
As a French person, I know what a real pastry should taste like. This... was not it. From the moment I walked in, it was clear this place was more style than substance and even the style was questionable. The pastries looked tired, dry, and frankly, neglected. Everything seemed like it had been sitting out for hours possibly the entire day. And rather than offering anything freshly made, they eagerly pushed what was obviously stale. The taste? Disappointing. Bland, lifeless, and lacking any of the finesse or richness you’d expect from a true French pâtisserie. Worse yet, there were flies hovering around the display : a clear sign of sanitary neglect. Who knows how long those poor excuses for pastries had been out? The general hygiene made me uncomfortable, and I left with serious doubts about food safety. The staff? Indifferent at best. Unhelpful, a bit pushy with upselling old stock, and not particularly friendly which didn’t help the already dismal experience. This place banks on the idea of French pastry, not the quality. If you're actually familiar with good French baking, you'll be appalled. I won’t be coming back and I wouldn’t recommend it unless you're nostalgic for stale food and subpar service.
D S — Google review
A true taste of France at Le Marais Bakery! I stopped by Le Marais and was instantly charmed by the warm, welcoming vibe and the heavenly scent of fresh pastries. I ordered the ham and cheese croissant and a cappuccino—both were absolutely fantastic. The croissant was perfectly flaky, buttery, and generously filled with quality ham and melty cheese. The cappuccino was smooth and well-crafted, with just the right balance of espresso and foam. It could have been a little hotter, though. Le Marais truly captures the essence of a Parisian café—an ideal spot for a cozy breakfast or a relaxing coffee break.
Bernardo C — Google review
Everything here is excellent ! Honestly, some things are even better than what I’ve had in France. The staff is always so kind and welcoming, no matter who’s working that day. I come here all the time, and it never disappoints. If you’re homesick or just craving authentic French food, this is the place to go. I moved to San Francisco a few months ago, and out of everything I’ve tried, this bakery is by far the best French spot in the city.

Bi-Rite Market is a popular spot in San Francisco, particularly for locals and visitors heading to Dolores Park. The market offers thoughtfully sourced meats, gourmet baked goods, and ice cream from its original location on 18th Street in the Mission district. Known for its amazing sandwiches and gourmet food items, Bi-Rite also boasts a famous ice cream selection at nearby Bi-Rite Creamery. The market's second location on Divisadero is equally beloved.
This store was right on Divisidero and so it was a convenient stop for lunch to go on our way to the Palace of Fine Arts. Lots of great choices for lunch and easy to grab and go (we were in a hurry). The folks working the store were super friendly and helpful. It's a pricey place, but the splurge was worth it.

Today was my first experience at Bi-Rite. I happened upon it, and popped in for a look around. The deli case is stunning, and I felt confident that everything would taste as good as it looks. I bought a sandwich (The Lone Mountain), and it was truly one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever eaten. Fresh warm focaccia, plentiful fixings. A delight to eat! I’ll surely return.
Daniel T — Google review
Love birite and everyone who works there especially the team at the deli counter! My mom was in recently with my son in his stroller and someone (she thought seemed like management…) was kind of rude to her saying the stroller was in the way. It’s not really realistic for people to leave kids at home to grocery shop. I was also disappointed to recently learn the birite brand “pesto” is fake! They use canola oil and no pine nuts and it makes it look like the birite brand is a better deal that the real pesto next to it. I think it’s misleading to make pesto with canola oil.
Marybeth B — Google review
If you wanted to find specialty cheese, wine, fruits, or packaged items, this is the place to go. I mean where else can you find Mandariquats? If you were to buy regular produce, I would avoid it because this market is overly pricey but also super busy. This market fits into the bougie SF narrative. Though, I'm really amazed by the variety of items they have here such as flowers, fish, sushi, cheese wall, and wine sheves. The icecream is pretty good too.
Drawonnoodles — Google review
Pros: - Awesome products with lots of ethical options. - Staff are helpful and kind Cons: - The isles are so short and narrow that every single step is a burden to the other people in the store, regardless of how busy it actually is. Bi-Rite is the only grocery store (that I go to on purpose) where I regularly have to step outside to recover from claustrophobic anxiety attacks. Which means that I keep my visits as short as possible and don't bother browsing much at all. - Items aren't always labeled correctly or visibly, so it either takes longer to find it, or I just give up because I got tired of bumping elbows with strangers in the tight spaces. Pictured example: I was told to fetch "spring greens" and the sign for where they were read, "salad mix package." Not very helpful when I'm looking at about 4+ feet of other various leafy greens in the same packaging, labels aimed at the ceiling. Thankfully it wasn't super busy and staff were there to figure it out for me.

I’ve had my husband buy the Chocolate-Salted Caramel Mousse Cake for every birthday I’ve celebrated since moving to SF. You’ve changed the recipe and it wasn’t for the best. Dry and barely a hint of caramel and a new consistency of the filling. I don’t think you can still call it a mousse cake. The ingredients quality worsened while the price increased. Too bad.

Almond croissant 2/5 Amaretti cookie 5/5 The croissant tasted alright, but the texture was all off. It was more doughy than flaky and there were very few layers in it. The outside seemed more like a dinner roll than a croissant. I think there probably wasn't enough butter in the mix. It was possibly the least croissant-y croissant I've had in years. Thankfully the amaretti cookie was delicious and redeemed my experience.

Sunday Social is a quaint little shop that specializes in creative ice cream flavors. The proprietors are very friendly and always seem to be up for a good time, which makes it an enjoyable place to visit. The ice cream is high quality, and the cookies are delicious.
June 2022: Sandwich board caught my eye. I thought this was only an ice cream shop and was pleasantly surprised to see they changed their name and added baked goodies 👍😀. Tried the matcha milk bun. My first bite had no filling. So my first impression was very underwhelming. Tasted just like a Chinese bakery bun. But the second and subsequent bites changed everything. The matcha cream filling was very delicious 👍! I would definitely come back again. I've got to try their other baked goods the next time I am in the area!

Nice ice cream shop with simple flavors. Like the fact that they also have delicious cookies for sale too! I decided to get the banana flavor coated with hot fudge and topped with toasted almonds. I enjoyed the experience! Only this is that they only stay open till 6 even during the weekdays And close really early on Saturday. They need to stay open later if people wish to go to their ice cream store.
Omar G — Google review
The ice cream is pricey but it’s probably because they don’t sell enough volumes to be able to afford to charge less as opposed to having a high markup (although this shouldn’t matter to customers per se). I like their sweet cream flavor as I don’t like vanilla and it’s hard to find a milky ice cream without it

One of the best ice creams I've had. The lemon shiso is amazing and I wouldn't have thought to combine them together. The ube doodle has the richness of ube as well! I wish my stomach had the capacity to try all the flavors.

It doesn’t have to be your birthday cake to ever get birthday cake ice cream! We had brunch in the area and I really wanted dessert so we eagerly waited at the front door (and took pics with the giant ice cream mural) until this place opened. We were the only ones for a little while so we were table to take our time and try a few flavors. Most were pretty good, but I knew I wanted the birthday cake when I laid my eyes on the sign. I loved that there were actual (chocolate) cake chunks in the ice cream. The ice cream was really good, but I wished it was birthday cake flavored instead of vanilla with sprinkles (though I do love a good vanilla). Overall, we added a waffle cone and it satisfied my sweet craving. Be prepared to pay SF prices for this ice cream cone!

Wow my girlfriend and I walked for an hour to get here but it was so worth it. Thick consistency and rich bold flavors make for some amazing icecream. Had the pandan and matcha. Both were brilliant and had some of GFs chocolate chip which was so rich it tasted like it had cookie dough in it. Prices are steep but so is quality. Well worth it in my opinion. On par with bi rite for best icecream in SF.
Brandon N — Google review
I wanted to not like this place because their prices are steep and I miss the old owners. I can’t though, because it’s still so good. Their ice cream is so much better than what I was getting at the store that I decided it’s worth the premium in price. They always have a nice selection and kept a lot of old favorites. Also, they now have a huge pastry selection and while I haven’t tried them all, they look 🔥🔥

Neighbor Bakehouse is a charming cafe and bakery nestled in the industrial space of Dogpatch neighborhood on 3rd Street. Since its establishment in 2015 by Greg and Christine Mindel, this bakehouse has been dedicated to crafting top-notch morning pastries, sourdough breads, and coffee drinks. You can also find their delectable pastries at various coffee shops across the city.
Hard to find parking but the pastries are incredible!!! Big fan of the spicy potato burek, pistachio blackberry croissant (a bit sweet but still amazing), and their pull apart savoury bread. Service is always pretty quick considering there’s a line every time I’ve been.
Victoria Z — Google review
We stopped by Neighbor Bakehouse on a Sunday at 8 am. There was plenty of street parking available. As we were walking to get in line (3 parties in front of us), 2 employees rudely pushed past us on the sidewalk. It was clear they were late as the bakery was supposed to open at 8 am but did not open until 8:15 am. We got the char siu croissant, ube croissant, pistachio blackberry croissant, and ginger pull apart. The char sui croissant is more like a Danish but a good alternative for people who like savory pastries. The ube croissant was ok - although the interior was pretty, I thought the ube flavor was lacking. The pistachio blackberry croissant has a nice tartness from the blackberry filling. The ginger pull apart was very unique and delicious - I really like ginger flavored things so I enjoyed it (this is more like real ginger flavor and not gingerbread). I would get all the pastries again except the ube croissant. Overall, I enjoyed the pastries but I think B Patisserie and Arsicault are still my favorite bakeries.

Bring on the seeds!!! The pumpkin seeds pop on this delicious bread. Why no pictures of the country bread, it was eaten too quickly!!! Right??? This is the perfect neighborhood Bakehouse and if you are at UCSF Mission Bay for a procedure or the children’s hospital, this is a 6 minute walk and well worth the effort. Theo shared a morning bun with the family who enjoyed it. The coffee was equally hitting!

Incredible coffee. Both the regular cappuccino and the pandan latte were excellent. Pastry dough is super flaky and delicious. The fillings are a hit or a miss. Cookie shop
Mee Mee Bakery is a well-known establishment that specializes in crafting traditional Chinese pastries, particularly their renowned handcrafted fortune cookies. Visitors can also partake in bakery tours to witness the artistry behind these delectable treats. One of their standout offerings is the wife cake, which stands out for its unique crunchy interior and has garnered high praise from patrons. This particular type of wife cake is exclusive to the SFO store and has been hailed as the best among various bakeries.
This is where the Japanese tea garden sources their cookies from. Very delicious but one batch of cookies tastes like the oil is slightly rancid. Still love these cookies and will continue to buy and share with family and friends.
Mishi N — Google review
A quiet little bakery that makes fortune cookies in the back. I love the old fashioned style this place has. They even have a neat looking super old school cash register. They make other baked goods and pastries but the fortune cookies are the main draw for me. There's a few sizes, shapes, and flavors to their cookies. Try the mix bag if you want to sample the different flavors (original, chocolate, and strawberry). Some of the best deals are the bag of "Rejected" fortune cookies they sell near the counter which are discounted because its a bit misshapen, has no fortune slips, or a tiny bit burnt(which i love and think it adds a bit more flavor). The rejects are like the Belly Flops for Jelly Belly, same great taste but a bit funny looking and an amazing price. If you have time, you can go deeper into the store and watch the sweet old ladies make some of the fortune cookies. If you are ready to check out with your items but see nobody at the front counter, just wave and say hi to one of the nice old ladies working in the back and they will come and help you out.

I have only buy the wife cake here, and it’s the best I have ever had. It’s different than all the other ones as the inside is crunchy. Both my husband and I really liked it. This types of wife cake I can only get from SFO and from that store only. I have tried wife cake from 6 different stories in one day and this is it the best. Will definitely go back just got their wife cake and maybe try some of there other stuff as well

We have been consistently returning for cow ear cookies until we decided to spontaneously try their walnut tarts. Bit into it and THERE WAS MOLD. Settled with a heartless “sorry” and refund. Given the age group their customers are, this is incredibly risky.
Alice C — Google review
This shop isn’t your standard bakery with baked goods and pastries. It is more known for their flat fortune cookies and pig ear cookies. There are a variety of flavors of fortune cookies including strawberry and chocolate in mini and regular sized shapes in various bag weights. I personally get tired of these cookies pretty fast so if you love them you’ll probably find something you like here. I believe they are also a wholesaler and sell these cookies on the side. If you do stop by here you should try their pig ear shaped cookies. They come in a standard size bag and are thin and super crunchy. They are fresh and the flavor is mildly sweet. I believe this is what customers come back and rave about. The drawback is that they limit you to 2 bags per person which seems kind of silly. The man who handles the checkout is always in a grumpy mood so do expect that. I would stop by if I was in the area but it’s not anything I would go out of my way for. There are only metered parking nearby but you can park in the lot that is a few blocks away.

They limit 2 bags of cow ear crackers per person?! And they don't sell them till 2pm? They keep them behind the counter till you've paid? And during my latest visit in July 2021, the guy behind counter said I must pre-order the cow ear cookies?! The cookies are good, but they make them so impossible to buy.
Wendel T — Google review
I really had no idea about their "Cow Ears" cookies until my wife told me about it. Honestly, I am a sucker for going to mom and pa business because I grew up in a mom and pa restaurant business myself. I am very disappointed when I went into the store. This place totally lack simple common human courtesy. The guy in his late forties treats you like a life long enemy. Did I get my "Cow Ears" cookies ? Answer: No. Do I really care ? Answer : No Is this place worth going to ? Yes, I find it very entertaining to see a grown man throwing a temper tantrum when you ask him : "Do you have any "Cow Ears" cookies ?" ( If you don't believe me, try asking him yourself next time you go to San Francisco)

I enjoyed the crunchiness of the cow ears and the flavor; it's perfect!!! I've tasted fortune cookies and you could see the color is too yellow a me the taste is awful. But, these sneakers are definitely way better than anything I've tried. Thank you so much for making such a fantastic Snacker treat.

La Mejor Bakery, located in the Mission district of San Francisco, is a Mexican bakery that offers a variety of delicious pastries. While some may argue that it doesn't quite compare to Panaderia Rosetta in Mexico City, La Mejor's conchas and pineapple jam buns are light, perfectly sweet, and satisfying. The bakery is known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, with the owner being described as generous and thoughtful.
This is my favorite spot for Mexican bread, from pan de muerto, rosca de Reyes, or conchas. Always good and everybody is really friendly. One of my favorite spots in San Francisco. Please go and enjoy this amazing pan dulce.

Went on a Sunday evening and the bread was stale. It had a good taste but the texture was as if it’s been sitting out for 2-3 days.

Friendly staff, quick service even when the line is long. You can tell the bakery takes pride in what they bake. The pan dulce selection is huge and always fresh.

Disappointing concha. Went on a Sunday morning. Was dry, stale, not particularly sweet or flavorful and left a bitter aftertaste. The service was nice and the chicken tamales were quite good.

I came here for the pan dulce, and was not disappointed. It's very tasty, and I plan to return when I'm in the area to get some more treats. I believe they only accept cash. Very friendly staff, quick service even on busy days. It was crowded near closing hours, which really is no surprise.

It’s a San Francisco staple — it’s been in the Mission neighborhood for longer than most people in SF. And it has a wide selection of pastries for reasonable prices. Plus, they have so many locals who visit the place everyday. And they help local artists. Check out the photos below. I hope it stays in business for another 20+ years.

Nestled in the vibrant Lower Haight neighborhood, Cafe Réveille is a sophisticated coffeehouse that has evolved from a humble coffee truck into a beloved trio of cafes. With its inviting sidewalk tables, it serves up an eclectic array of American breakfast and lunch options, including delicious sandwiches and fresh salads. The star of the show might just be their classic chocolate chip cookie—an enormous treat that's soft and gooey, often selling out by lunchtime.
This is a very cozy coffee shop in the heart of San Francisco. The coffee beans are very good quality and have a nice roasted flavor. I wanted to have a small meal and something healthy. The chia seed pudding with granola topping was perfect!

Met my friend for quick bite on a Saturday. The middle of the restaurant register is kind of awkward where everybody just by default needs to walk through the line that ends up going outside. There is just something off a out it. There are indoor or outdoors tables as well as bar sitting area. I ordered the coconut acai bowl and I enjoyed the flavor but I thought it was small and was already served liquidy not solid so not an idea acai bowl presentation. Not sure if I would want to go there again. Happy that tired the place. Its cute and spacious. CC accepted

Order: Cappuccino Notes: - Truly exceptional costumer service. I asked for my cappuccino to be heated and the lovely gentleman told me “I will make you a new one, I want you to have the best service possible”. - My favorite branch in the city - I’ve tried pastries, food, and they have great matcha.

One of my favorite local cafés. The coffee is excellent, and the breakfast burrito is amazing—flavorful, filling, and the kind of thing you’ll crave again. The place has a great vibe, relaxed but lively. It does get crowded indoors, especially during breakfast hours, but that’s just a sign of how good it is. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and want quality coffee with real food to match.

Sooooo slow. If you want to go here I recommend ordering online ahead of time. We waited 15 minutes in line to order and another 20 for an extremely average breakfast burrito. Truly do not understand the hype

A hearty breakfast makes you feel right at home. Cafe Reveille’s menu is filled with tasty treats. Their Homestyle Breakfast is one of the best. A combination of Avocado Toast and a Breakfast Sandwich. The Cinnamon Roll is sweet and special. Getting Lattes from the counter can be a little challenging, but are worth tasting. Enjoy!

Beautiful modern cafe. It was packed Sunday morning around 11am with all indoor tables occupied and a line going out the door, but by 12pm was less than half full. The space is comfortably spacious and chic. Chilaquiles was delicious! Burrito was a little too dark. My latte was on the lighter and more flowery side which isn't my favorite but other folks might love.

This location is beautiful and has a great layout. But everyone brings their giant dogs inside and it’s gross. This is a place with food. Not a pet store. Leave your dirty giant dog outside.

Not all blue coffee lattes are drinkable. But the milk foam here is just the right balance of sweetness with coffee. It doesn't taste like just milk, and the coffee doesn't feel too strong. I really hope all blue bottles can learn from them.

Dropped by today to introduce Blue Bottle coffee to my dad who is visiting from out of town. The sweet baristas working there this morning recommended pour over coffee when I told them that my dad likes light, non bitter coffee. When I told them I always end up ordering the iced NOLA despite meaning to try other coffee at Blue Bottle, they even comped another cup of pour over coffee on the house so I can try it! My dad ended up loving the coffee they recommended and so did I. Thanks for making our day today! 🥰

I don’t even like chai lattes ordinarily, but this place changed me. Everything you want in a coffee shop and then some. Great service, amazing style, and perfect morning sun.

This is one of the most gorgeous blue bottle locations in SF. Came early morning, no crowds, no crazy lines. Just good music, peace & quiet. Great place to work for early birds in South Park or SOMA.
Saf A — Google review
I’ve heard people talk about Blue Bottle before, so I thought I’d check out one of their coffee shops while I was in town. I wasn’t disappointed. Although, there weren’t fancy syrup flavors for someone like myself who likes sweet flavored lattes, they still had a “sweet latte” on the menu. If you’re into sweeter coffee drinks, I’d highly recommend it. Very delicious. There’s even a gorgeous park right around the corner you can hang out in after you get your coffee.
Eddy G — Google review
Ordered iced matcha latte here a couple times, and a regular cafe latte, all very good, but I gave a lower rating because spending time in this cafe is just not comfortable. It is so noisy whenever I have been here. There is a big table in the corner for what looks like meetings plus several larger group seating areas, all of which seem to promote an extremely noisy environment. Voices echo so loudly even if it isn’t “packed” it still feels crowded. First two times I visited I took drinks to go but later I went in during what I thought was non-peak hours wanting to get some reading done enjoy a drink etc. but this just is not the place for that. You’d probably want to wear headphones to block noise if you want to read or get any work done here (unless maybe you have laser focus). Oh, and charge your devices in advance because there are no accessible plugs for your devices. There are a few tables outside, but if you want a relaxing cafe, just skip this place.

I placed an online order for a devils cake along with some red velvet cupcakes for my husband's birthday. He loves chocolate cake, but I never got him one because he has never requested one on his birthday until now! This is my first time ordering an American cake and I'm normally used to Chinese cakes (very light with fruit). My past experiences with American cakes were always from big chain grocery stores, which were always way too sweet, dense, dry and had a specific weird aftertaste to them. So that's basically what I expected from these, but the devils cake here was delicious and the red velvet were even better! The cake was very moist, and the right amount of chocolaty. In the end I didn't finish my slice since the chocolate got too much for me (but no weird aftertaste!), but it was a huge hit with my husband and family. The red velvet cupcakes was what really stood out to me! It wasn't too light or too dense and the cream cheese frosting paired perfectly with it. I'll definitely be ordering a red velvet birthday cake for myself! My only complaint is that it doesn't seem like decorating is their forte. The bottom two flowers have a weird gap between the two flowers while the two flowers did not have a weird gap between them.

I am just in love with their financier tartlets! They are just a delight. The blueberry pecan scone has a nice crunchy munch which is such fun. And their fudge brownies are just so hard to say avoid because of how yummy they are. They got something for everybody!

We were staying in SF for a week and were happy to find Noe Valley bakery to cater to our breakfast and X-mas needs :) We are all obviously spoilt by the quality and choices back home in Switzerland, however were excited to find this little gem of a bakery. The quality was great but we really loved the blueberry pecan as well as cranberry lemon scones, and the chocolate raspberry cake was a blast. The crew were always nice and helpful!

Quick service. Ordered a cake here for my daughter’s birthday. Cake was affordable and the frosting is great. Cake wasn’t too sweet or dense. Just all around perfect. The kids were a little picky but next time I know to order either vanilla or chocolate but for parties the other flavors available are best for them. Their breads are also great. I want to come back here and order things from here again.

I ordered the broccoli and mushroom quiche. Very disappointed. There was little to no filling inside the quiche. Just a couple slices of mushroom and broccoli florets on top. There should be more fillings inside a quiche. Flavor was good and the crust was buttery. Definitely not worth $7 though.

Kahnfections is a small, classic bakery located in the Mission District of San Francisco. The bakery offers a wide variety of pastries and cookies, as well as house-made soup. In addition to traditional French fare, Kahnfections also offers American desserts and seasonal temptations. The cafe's small but charming patio is perfect for enjoying your meal with a warm cup of coffee or tea.
The shop's concept is all about full customization. From the biscuit base to the spread, cheese, and toppings, you're in complete control. I went the classic route and chose garlic aioli, cheddar cheese, ham, and bacon. Jade, on the other hand, ordered her Lox Special. The magic of the sandwich lies in its soft-scrambled egg, which has a texture like the egg in a Japanese omurice, skillfully binding together the savory notes of the cheese and bacon. The biscuit base, meanwhile, is responsible for providing a solid, satisfying crunch. One bite was all it took to understand: it was delicious, and you absolutely have to eat it while it's hot.
Yun Z — Google review
Light and hearty way to start the day! The biscuit and eggs are both super fluffy and pair great together. Be prepared for a bit of wait, it can get busy in the mornings! Also would recommend eating the sandwich at the spot (even though seating is limited). The sandwich can cool down pretty quickly.

Great shop, the biscuit sandwich was delicious and the croissant was delectable. Great hangout spot to bring your friends, family, SO, or come alone and you will still enjoy this beautiful bakery. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Hidden Gem for Breakfast Sandwich Lovers We stumbled upon this cozy little bakery and breakfast spot and were genuinely impressed. We tried two breakfast sandwiches, both delicious but with distinct personalities. The standout was the kimchi, egg, and cheese biscuit, a special of the day. The bold, tangy kimchi paired shockingly well with the buttery, flaky biscuit, making for a flavor combo that felt both inventive and comfortingly familiar. It completely stole the show. The second sandwich, a twist on the classic egg and cheese with salmon, was also really solid. Rich, savory, and satisfying—but if I had to choose again, I’d go back for the kimchi in a heartbeat. We didn’t get to try the baked goods this time (breakfast filled us up fast), but they looked absolutely incredible. The pastry case was packed with treats that we’re already planning to come back for. A return visit is definitely in the cards.

Came early on a Sunday morning to a quiet spot with plenty of open tables. We leisurely looked at beautiful pastries, trying to figure out which ones we were going to break our diet for. We opted for a sour cherry scone and a blueberry muffin. The scone was our favorite, but the muffin was also quite good. The scone was too small, in our opinion, but probably better that way for our waistlines!!! Our coffees were also tasty. We chose a table, enjoyed the goodness in front of us, and within minutes, the place was packed. Line was out the door and it didn't stop the whole time we were there. All the tables were filled. I'd recommend getting there early. This is a cute, neighborhood bakery that has a lot of menu choices. Definitely will return!

4.2/5 for the breakfast sandwich. It was good but was kinda pricey for what it’s worth. Got the added chicken but I swear I feel like there were 3 chunks of small chicken on the sandwich.

I'm from the south and i usually avoid biscuits outside of that area for everyone's sake. I'm so glad I gave this place a try though. Far and away the best biscuit sandwich I've had away from home. Heart warming, fluffy, simple but wonderful. Caveat: its not the same texture as a southern biscuit BUT it is perfectly balanced for what it is and the essential buttermilk flavor comes through wonderfully. Ate it all before i could take a pic but I'll be back. Thanks y'all!!

This is my favorite breakfast sandwich spot in all of SF! They have a huge selection of pastries, drinks, and food, but you have to get one of their famous breakfast biscuit sandwiches built to order. You can’t go wrong with their bacon cheddar biscuit egg sandwich with garlic aioli and bacon; if you’re lucky, on certain days they’ll have sausage to add on, which you should totally go for. The staff is also super friendly and the service is quick, plus they have a nice outdoor patio with umbrellas where you can enjoy your meal. I could go to Kahnfections everyday honestly!

Insomnia Cookies is a bakery chain that offers late-night deliveries and some locations also sell ice cream. It was founded in 2003 by a student at the University of Pennsylvania and has since become a go-to spot for sweet treats. The chain's first Bay-area location, located in the Financial District, serves up warm cookies, ice cream sandwiches, and beverages including vegan options and oat milk. While the service may be lacking at times, the variety of delicious offerings makes it worth a visit.
TL;DR lots of options but do pick up your own! Really good but they are FRESH, meaning if you order for your coworkers and put the boxes in a bag they will slide around & crumble 🥲 i assume that’s why a lot of reviews complain that delivery isn’t a good option either. I did a pickup order of several boxes to decorate with, and thankfully only 3 were damaged out of the 3 dozen. Not only do they have a couple vegan and gluten free options, they also have a combo gf/vegan cookie so there are choices for everyone which are just as delicious as the regular options! The vegan double chocolate was my favorite.

I visited this location late at night and tried the peanut butter cookie. While it’s not a bad cookie, it doesn’t live up to the hype from their marketing or what people usually rave about. The cookies are pretty basic, and in my opinion, there are much better options out there. The main appeal is that they’re open until midnight, but the price doesn’t match the quality. I wouldn’t recommend spending time or money on them.
Hecvi V — Google review
TERRIBLE service. I placed an order for nearly $60 to pick up the next day, and from the moment I arrived, it was all disappointment. The cashier wasn’t at her station, and when she finally showed up, she didn’t even greet me. She had such a bad attitude, like being there was a punishment. She told me my order wasn’t in the system and just walked away. I had to call her back, and her energy didn’t improve. After I insisted, she reluctantly “found” the order. No gloves, no face mask, no hygiene at all — she just threw the cookies into a box. Not even a bag to carry them. The cookies were undercooked, greasy, and honestly not worth what they charge. I give the cookies a generous 5/10, and the service a clear 0/10. What’s worse is how they make you feel — like you’re not welcome, like you’re in the way. It’s not just bad service; it’s uncomfortable and borderline disrespectful. And when you eat the cookies, the grease is overwhelming. It leaves a greasy aftertaste that ruins the entire experience. Do you like paying too much for something mediocre, being treated poorly, and walking away with greasy hands and bad energy? Then this is your place.
Hernan M — Google review
Super quick with my order, and the caramel apple stroopewafel cookie was super fresh. I'm not a fan of cinnamon and it was unfortunate that it tasted mostly like cinnamon apple, but the cookie itself was chewy and enjoyable.

Wow it’s no wonder this place has more 1 star reviews than 4 star reviews. Insomnia Cookies is known for their late night delivery and I happened to crave the cookies late at night. So I ordered the 12 in a box deal for $20 (with shipping is +$5) and they delivered it right to my door. I wanted to take pictures of the cookies but this is how they were delivered. I'm really disappointed with the presentation and the state that they were delivered in and some of them were all broken up. If you want to get these cookies, I recommend getting them in person at the store, not delivered because they obviously do not care about the contents inside the box. Other than that, I recommend heating the cookies up for 30 seconds in the microwave and eating them with milk!
Irene J — Google review
Visited the store just before 11pm. Tiny Choc Chip Cookie for the price, wasn't even as big as the logo on the bag! S'mores cookie ice cream was fine. Service was average. Felt like they wanted us to order and get out as soon as possible.

I got a cookie'wich. Overall very good! However, next time, I would just get the cookies and ice cream separately. Cookies lost a lot of heat by the time i got to my car down the block and the ice cream was melting. Cookies have a flakey edge and a very warm chewy inside. Might be hard to satisfy those who prefer their harder cookies, since these are mostly soft.

The recipes have been passed down through generations and are made with love by the family-owned business. In addition to their famous pies, they also serve fluffy donuts and an assortment of pastries.
Genuinely the best chicken pot pies I’ve ever had. My partner and I both ordered one each at first, then promptly ordered a second round right after finishing the first. We also got almond butter pie and sweet potato pie, which were both fantastic. Had a little patio in the back to eat at, and the workers were all super sweet!

Oh wow what a hidden gem! I though this is a pie shop and didn't really take notice but when I passed by one morning I saw their pastries from their window and was immediately intrigued. Their croissants look legit. And guess what, they taste legit too! I had a ham and cheese croissant and absolutely devoured it because it was so good. Excellent layers with a rich, savory flavor. The chocolate scone was pretty good too. Butter Love has quality pastries at fantastic prices, and I definitely look forward to coming back whenever I'm in the area (or even make a detour)!

Bakery
Destination Baking Company is a cozy bakery located in Glen Park Village, offering a wide array of freshly made breakfast pastries, coffee cakes, tartlets, and seasonal treats. The bakery takes pride in creating all their delectable goods from scratch by hand. Despite its small size, the bakery has gained popularity for its exceptional baked goods and friendly service.
They have a lovely selection of various savory and sweet pastries including empanadas, quiches, tarlets, cookies, and more. I had the Banana Cream Tarlet and the Empanada Del Horno filled with beef, olive, and egg and it was delish! Super nice folks, fair prices, great vibes in a quiet neighborhood spot. Definitely coming back to try more of their goodies!
Tyven G — Google review
The scones were good and reasonably priced at $3.50. The vibe inside is sad and the pastries look tired and not appetizing. The service was perfunctory and the women barely acknowledged us. Bakeries are usually happy and bustling places but this was not.
Liz A — Google review
The most authentic French bakery in the Bay Area. This is what French croissants and tarts taste like. It has always been a clean and respectable place when I have visited every week so lucky is in my neighborhood. I hope they reopen soon. This business takes their baking and service seriously.
Logan S — Google review
So glad they’ve reopened! I love my neighborhood bakery. Great stuff and reasonable prices. Their Dutch apple pie is my favorite apple pie anywhere. Great crust (no soggy bottom), firm tart apples, and yummy crumb topping. If you can’t handle a whole pie, the apple streusel tartlet (even though quite different) is a great sub. It has short crust with a little cornmeal to give it a nice texture. I also like the quiches, apricot danish, blueberry muffin, scones…

TLDR: A small, local bakery with quite a bit of variety. They have some exceptional baked goods that left me wanting more. I would recommend going if you're in the area. This place was not on my radar at all, it being so far away from the commercial area. I was introduced to this place by my brother, who goes around San Francisco and tries out many of the bakeries in the city. The bakery is not the easiest to see when passing by, it being fairly small. Upon entering, the first thing you see is the pastry case housing all of the baked goods that they have produced for the day. Directly behind the counter, there are people in the back working, making the baked goods, so there is a continuous stream of bread and pastries to be sold. As you focus your attention to the left, there is the register where you make your order, pay, and receive your order. I got a chicken empanada, warmed, and a hot cross. When the lady on register asked if I wanted my empanada warmed, she asked if I wanted to warm it by oven for one minute or oven for seven minutes. I wasn't listening that attentively so I asked her to repeat it, which she did and I didn't understand the difference. After a small back and forth and her becoming slightly frustrated, I realized she misspoke and meant to say microwave. All this to say, you can either microwave or bake the empanada. She gave me my hot cross and I sat down on one of the tables to wait for my empanada to be heated. The hot cross was amazing and nothing like what I was expecting. The pastry looks like a scone, but it is nothing like a scone at all. It is unexpectedly soft, much like bread. The bun (I would say it resembles a bun) has dried fruits in it, raisins and dried orange peels. The two dried fruit created a combination of both sweet and tangy that worked well together. The cross on the top was some kind of icing, that overall added to the sweetness of the bun. It was very good, to the point that I bought a second one when I was leaving. After waiting the six minutes, the empanada was finished and it was good. The crust of the empanada was very flaky and it broke apart easily in my mouth. The stuffing inside was well seasoned, the chicken was flavorful and the corn was a plus. Overall though, it was nothing special about it. As for the bakery as a whole, they're pretty good. I felt the lady on the counter was a bit rude, but she was most likely working since the morning and was flustered. The empanada was alright, but, as stated before, nothing special. The hot cross, however, was absolutely delightful and were pretty must sold out by the time I was leaving, yearning for a second one. If I am every in the area, I would go back to try some more things there.

Lovely friendly staff. Delicious pastries my personal favorite they’re ham& cheese croissants! I have driven from Vacaville just for some nectarine cherry pie!!!! Restaurant
Merchant Roots is a fine dining venue that offers reservation-only themed tasting menu dinners with wine pairings. The restaurant provides an intimate and exclusive experience, with only two private outdoor booths decorated according to the theme of the tasting menu. The Table at Merchant Roots offers an after-hours dining experience for only 8 people, featuring a current Elements menu that represents earth, fire, stars, and salt.
10/10. Excellent vegetarian fine dining experience. Loved all the dishes and really appreciated the excellent customer service. The dishes seemed small, but my partner and I were so full by the end of the night! Every single dish was something I could eat a whole plate of for a full meal. So excited to go again sometime.
Sunjay V — Google review
We've been twice now to Merchant Roots for two different menus, and this has become my new favorite restaurant for a fancy dinner. The food is exceptionally delicious, but the real fun is seeing the creative ways that every dish leans into the theme for the menu. Everyone at the seating eats their courses simultaneously, and we love to watch and speculate about the next course as the team assembles it. One of the other best parts is that everyone on the team is a chef and server, so you can talk to the chefs directly about the meal. Both times we've gone have been evenings full of fun, whimsy, and delight, and we can't wait for our next visit.
Laura D — Google review
Always an amazing experience. Food is fantastic, the themes are always creative and well executed, and service top notch. The new location opens up a lot of possibilities, excited to see where they go with it. Nice to have the extra space and didn’t sacrifice the intimate experience. Well worth a visit every time they change the menu.
Jeff D — Google review
I don’t usually post reviews, but this was honestly one of the most disappointing tasting menus I’ve experienced, not just in SF but anywhere. A coworker had hyped this place up as one of the best in SF and my expectations were high. I booked this for Valentine’s Day, hoping for something special but if anything, my partner and I ended up bonding over just how underwhelming the food was (she flew in from NYC for this). Throughout the meal, not once did anyone on staff ask how the food was. Dishes were simply served and cleared away and we were guided to the next part of the “experience” which was surprising for a spot that bills itself for good food. I understand the intent behind the “Humpty Dumpty” theme but this particular execution just didn’t land. While I can imagine they’ve pulled off more successful concepts in the past, this menu was almost entirely breakfast-themed, and there’s only so many egg-centric dishes you can serve at dinner before it starts to feel repetitive and uninspired. By the end we were completely over the endless parade of “breakfast takes”. Overall it was a big letdown there was very little creativity, and the lack of engagement from the staff made the whole thing feel flat, would not recommend.
Akash — Google review
My coworker had booked this amazing food experience a couple months in advance. The reviews were so positive I couldn't wait to try what was on the menu. I love a good 12 course/bougie meal so I definitely couldn't pass this up! From the second we all walked in,the service and attention to detail was immaculate. One of my coworkers had a tomato allergy and I am so grateful that they accomodated her esp for the theme of pasta&stories. I don't like to drink so I had the 12 course meal with non alcoholic pairing and each dish& drink was so thoughtful and carefully curated. I don't want to spoil it but I am not a pasta person but after the dinner,I am sold. Pasta all day!!!😍 I can't wait to attend again!
Lainaboo — Google review
Food quality not so up to par with menu pricing but other than that good service beautiful atmosphere thank you team!
Vivian P — Google review
I visited in March 2023 for my birthday. Truly a unique experience. The theme at the time was “The Great Trees” so the dishes were very woodsy-forest themed. The commitment to the theme, not only in regard to the food, but also the restaurant, is beyond impressive and exceeded all expectations. The service and intimate dinning room made it all the more cozy. My only issue was the size of the tasting menu. There were a few dishes that were simply far too large, in my opinion, especially for a 15 course meal. My partner, and even other fellow guests, had to sacrifice eating some items simply because they were getting full. Additionally, the final few dishes were incredibly rich and it was difficult to enjoy them after already eating so much. Other than that, the creativity of every plate was gorgeous. I definitely plan to visit again.

Nestled in a quaint corner of SOMA, Small Foods is a delightful modern convenience store that doubles as a full-service café. This charming spot offers an impressive selection of locally sourced groceries alongside delicious lunch options, fresh sandwiches, and salads. One standout feature is their renowned chocolate chip cookie—perfectly sized with crispy edges and a chewy center, it's truly the stuff of dreams!
A great option for your lunchtime playbook. The sandwiches are freshly made on real, hearty bread and very tasty. The service is very quick and I’ve never seen much of a line at lunch even when nearby places are very crowded. In addition to lunch options this place is also a grocery, so there are lots of other things you can pick up while you’re there, including a selection of baked goods at the register. The staff are all very friendly.

For the record, I've only ever had the iced coffee here, but it's definitely a favorite! I love love love love the ice coffee and the lovely atmosphere inside. So much awesome food to look at and to eat, a cute little cafe space, and beautifully curated bouquets. The atmosphere in here is great. It's super cute and it mirrors what I imagine the brand stands for, local, quality, healthy food. It's a great place to meet a friend or go alone. I love just sitting in here, would be great to read, draw, or escape from the office for a bit. It's probably my favorite iced coffee in the city, and super nice staff. They clearly focus on their curation. It's great to walk into a place and feel that anything you pick up here, has already been decided upon thoughtfully by a passionate staff member of the brand.

This is the small version of Whole Foods hence the name Small Foods.... i'm kidding but not really. It's like the size of one section of Whole Foods concentrated on selling snacks, small packaged items, bottled beverages, fresh food/sandwiches/salads, and fresh coffee and tea. I only go here to get a cup of coffee or buy a bottled beverage. They have the high quality, organic, unique, and good for you beverages. I love how some of it is local because I can't find that anywhere else. The people working here have been super friendly and awesome. They greet me every time and are super attentive. Great shop to pick up a quick snack or drink!

I meet my coworkers at this light-filled spot so we can get a bit of work in before we carpool in the morning. There aren’t outlets, so no one stays there long, but if there were I’d sit and order coffee all day from the attentive baristas. There is a good selection of healthy snacks if you neglected to pack your lunch.
Grace H — Google review
Great grocery store for breakfast lunch essentials, I especially like their coffee and vegan sandwich. Their soups and salads are nice choices too. Drink options here are crazy. Very eclectic mix of all kinds of healthy concoctions (kombucha, elixirs, tonics, teas, nut milks and more!
Joel F — Google review
A real gem. Just because a new Blue Bottle outlet has opened next door, don't overlook Small Foods. Most of the store is a healthy grocery outlet, including lots of lunch options, but the front is all Cafe. The coffee isn't quite Blue Bottle standard, but it's very close, and it's a little less pretentious proto-hipster (plus the lines are far shorter). The staff are awesome, especially the dude with two-tone hair who clearly has amazing taste in music. Coffee and croissant, with early Pink Floyd blasting out, is as San Francisco as it gets. No Wifi though, so don't expect to be productive.
Jack W — Google review
I kind of have a love/hate relationship with this place. Small is located right across the street from my office so I'm here often, but it can be a drain on my wallet. The sandwiches are really tasty and fresh, and I love their Four Barrel coffee, but spending $4 a day every morning one of these is tough.
Clara L — Google review
This is a great place to have a glass of wine or beer and a hearty snack after work. The people are friendly, the beer selection is good, and they have pretty good food too. I'd prefer a few more food choices, but it's a small place (!) and they put effort into making it a very comfortable place to visit.

Hooker's Sweet Treats is a cozy cafe in the Tenderloin known for its homemade delights, particularly their creatively named salted caramels. The menu also features tempting treats like bread pudding and cookies, such as the indulgent peanut butter, chocolate chip, melted caramel cookie. The cafe offers coffee drinks and a selection of scones. While the hours may be limited and they are closed on Mondays, visitors rave about the quality of the caramels and coffee.
Make the trip into the TenderLoin! This candy place is so worth it! They have coffee drinks too. There were scones and I think they were also serving a bread pudding dessert. This place is open till the daily batch is gone so get there morning/early afternoon---I think we got there at about 11:30AM and there was still plenty to choose from. You will not be disappointed with any of their caramel-chocolatey candies-each one I tried was great. Very unique names and just a very old school interesting vibe. An SF must.
Sarah A — Google review
This wasn't just my favorite coffee joint in the Tenderloin, this was my favorite spot in all of San Francisco. Reviews below describing their bread pudding as world-class are 100% correct. Even if you're not in the mood for something sweet the coffee is excellent.
Howie U — Google review
Great coffee and chocolate! My wife and I walked in by chance and she was immediately hooked by the sea salt caramel chocolate that was available. We added two cappuccinos and we're off. Before we could leave, we had to get a wonderful smelling scone. A definite treat in SF.
Juan G — Google review
I would go here every day if they were opened on Mondays! Although their hours are a bit odd (not opened on Mondays, close at 4, etc.) it is a bit understandable in the Tenderloin. It's a small shop and the baristas and cook take great pride in their work and it shows. The caramels are delicious and the coffee is always on point. I've had their scones but have yet to try their bread pudding (I hear it's AMAZEBALLS) or breakfast options (I believe they are available on the weekends). They purposefully do not have wifi here which is a bummer, but again understandable. Definitely recommend this spot if you are looking for a good roast or something sweet.
Samantha G — Google review
Their bread pudding specials are addictive and they make one of my favorite lattes in SF. And the caramels are of course delicious. Very friendly service. <3 these guys
Mackenzie N — Google review
This was a delightful find that my GF made while watching a cooking show. We tried pretty much everything on their menu and enjoyed everything. I had the cheddar bisquit and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Coffees we had were good and obviously the sweet treats were very good. So good, we bought some to take home with us to So Cal.
John J — Google review
So good. This is the coolest sweet shop. It's a great addition to the neighborhood. Favorites are the salted caramels and the bread pudding. HOWEVER: PLEASE, PLEASE expand your hours. Would love to be able to hang out here in the early evening. Something like this could really turn around the area.

This truly is a San Francisco gem. All of my out-of-town friends and family have come to know Hooker's because I always bring them treats when I visit. They serve sight glass, which is delicious, but if you prefer non-fat milk with your espresso you are out of luck.

Bakery
Yvonne's Southern Sweets is a beloved bakery known for its delectable southern treats, which have been delighting customers since 2003. Founded by Yvonne Hines in honor of her late grandmother Vermell, the bakery offers an array of mouthwatering delights such as pralines, butter cookies, sweet potato pies, peach cobblers, and various cakes.
Holy Moly. We tried the pecan tartlet and peach cobbler, and Jiminy Christmas I have found my new favorite bakery in San Francisco. Our daughter brought these treats home for us, and we love her, but we did not leave any for her. We tried! but I’m telling you, these were too delicious. Each bite made me sad that we didn’t have more. This week I’m going to go in myself and get a full size pie. I’ll run there if I have to in order to absorb the calories! This bakery is magical. I don’t know how Yvonne does it, but wow, sis. I’m equal parts impressed and grateful. See you soon!
Katherine C — Google review
I'm glad I was able to taste Yvonne's sweets. I saw a long line on Third St and had to stop by. We also had a bowl of her gumbo. The oatmeal cookies were my favorite.
My L — Google review
Went today to purchase some butter cookies and I experience unprofessionalism and lack of customer service. She responded to me like, "what how many cookies do you want, because I have to get back to this project that I'm doing." This is not business etiquette whatsoever and disregard to your customers. I will never return back there again, and it's unfortunate because there's not a lot of black owned businesses. Yvonne Southern Sweets is not a good look to treat your customers in this type of manner. You will not be in business very long treating people in this regard.
Comelia J — Google review
My vibes was not sure of the customer service that I received today. So I could not give a five star. The old school sugar cookies melt in your mouth. The other desserts I never tried.
