Food was quite good here. Goulash was average but the spicy chicken and beef dishes (I don’t know the Hungarian names) were really good. Meat was really tender and the spicy sauce was amazing. Would certainly come back given the chance

A real family-style restaurant with long traditions, great service, and most importantly exceptional food. Unfortunately, Hungarian dishes are not the most photogenic (or my photos are lame), yet I can guarantee that the dishes served are both authentic Hungarian dishes (some with a Jewish twist), great in flavour, and very reasonably priced. Overall, great value for money.

Had lunch at Rosenstein Vendéglő, a long-standing family restaurant known for Hungarian classics and Ashkenazi Jewish dishes done with care. I had one of the chef’s offer dishes — pan-fried goose foie gras in Tokaji sauce — which was rich, silky, and beautifully balanced. Their goulash was excellent too, comforting and full of depth. What surprised me most though was the sourdough bread: crusty, airy, and easily one of the best I’ve had in a long time (and I say that as someone who takes sourdough seriously). It was definitely a memorable meal in Budapest.

I loved everything I eat here. The goulash soup is best I had in town. The Jewish cake was traditional and delightful. The service was professional. They have a huge menu variety and I will definitely come back again.

Beautiful authentic Hungarian restaurant with a charming atmosphere. Received a recommendation from a local friend and we were not disappointed. The menu was extensive and everything we ordered tasted incredible. Professional, prompt service and very reasonably priced for such a good meal - would recommend to anyone.

The food didn't taste so fantastic for us but it might just be what we ordered. The potato croquettes was very good though. I also liked the desserts. The reservation list was a bit of a mess but might be due to the language barrier. The service could be better but wasn't bad. The place is clean and cozy.

We ate here based on the recommendation of a local guy my friend met in the train and I’d say that we love our choice of food and it was worth the commute all the way from Visegrad. Didn’t had the photo but we also ordered a gundel pancake as per his recommendation.

Fantastic experience through and through. This is not an uber fancy Michelin location, but it does what you need it to really well. Service friendly, fast and professional. Chef’s gifts were a delight and starters were very tasty. However the mains stole the show, with excellent meat quality and cooking craftsmanship, artfully presented. They were some of the best meals I have ever had in my life. This was excellently complimented by the fantastic wine pairings. Even as a local to area I was able to discover some new Hungarian wines that were simply sublime. If you are going here I would highly recommend the wine pairings! One of the best in Budapest!

An incredible experience. We made reservations for an evening at this Michelin Star wine kitchen. It was all about the food. The quality. The taste. The presentation. Quite phenomenal. Note that the total price I am quoting here includes the fact that my elderly in-laws don’t consume a full meal so some were shared plates. The 4 of shared: One bottle of wine 3 sparkling waters One salad One duck lever pate appetizer 3 entrees 1 dessert The meal came with: An amazing bread basket A gift plate of appetizers from the kitchen 8 dessert tasters Our bill was 94000 Ft or $400 Canadian. This was my treat for my partners birthday - we had a lovely table and a superb meal and wine flight to match. As my partner doesn’t eat sweet things they were accommodating and swapped a cheese course in instead of the dessert element of the tasting menu just for him. Good start! In all the food was superb but we found the up to 30 minute wait time between the tasting courses to be too long and by time the final course arrived we felt it had taken the shine off the evening. Additionally it was clear the sommelier was more interested in the table next to us that were splashing the cash which was a faux pas in my opinion - we chose not to stay on and sought out after dinner drinks elsewhere - it seems not all guests are even here.

Truly excellent food, wine and service! We had a three course á la carte dinner and recommended local wine, which was absolutely amazing! Perfection in every taste, in every texture. Some tiny details could be improved, like that the wine was a bit late, it should be served before the starter and main course, but that's not enough to withdraw a star, and everything else was absolutely brilliant!

Top notch restaurant in Budapest. Great cost performance, nice service and absolutely amazing food. It works in a traditional fine dining setting, less surprising dishes but quality and taste are well guaranteed. You can trust them to bring you quality food and possibly a great dining experience. I sat indoors while many chose to do outside. Both are fine, highly recommended if you visit Hungary.

Our first day in Budapest drew to a close with an unforgettable dinner at Borkonyha Winekitchen, our first foray into Michelin Star dining. The experience was truly outstanding, thanks in large part to our attentive Chef de Rang, Dominic. For travelers to Budapest, I heartily recommend indulging in the culinary delights of Borkonyha Winekitchen.

This was the one of the best restaurants I visited in years, and if you look at how many restaurants I reviewed, you will see it means a lot. Every dish was wonderful. The wine was delightful. The service was friendly and professional. Thomas the server was knowledgeable and opinionated in the best way. The dish that I really loved was the wagyu and the liver one. I would definitely come back here again.

I had beef stew, an egg spread and a glass of red wine and it was perfect. The food is amazing, the serving is also quite interesting. There are a lot of options to choose from the menu and it might be hard to pick something if you’re not familiar with the local cuisine, but definitely all of them might be worth a try!

Had such a lovely evening in Gettó Gulyás. The service was second to none and the food was excellent. The wine recommendation was perfect and suited each of our meals. The best meal I've had in Budapest so far (day 4). We got 3 out of the 4 available desserts and each one was better than the next. Absolutely delicious. We went for lunch and loved it so much we came back for dinner the same night. I went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend who lives in Budapest, and I’m so glad I did. He advised me to make a reservation since the place is very popular, and that turned out to be excellent advice—the restaurant was busy, but welcoming. I started with something unusual: cucumbers with sour cream. It may sound simple, but it was absolutely delicious, especially paired with the fresh bread that came alongside. For my next course, I had a pancake filled with tender veal pieces and vegetables in a flavorful sauce—astounding in both taste and presentation. I paired it with a glass of their Cabernet, which was rich and smooth. For my main course, I had veal with buttered noodles. The noodles were uniquely wrapped in a circle of bacon, adding both flavor and creativity to the dish. Everything was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is warm and cozy—lively and a bit loud, but still comfortable for conversation. The service was outstanding, and the interior design had so much detail that added to the charm and coziness of the space. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Budapest. It’s a memorable dining experience, and I’m already hoping to return before I leave.

We had such a great experience here! The Báránypaprikás and Borjúpaprikás were absolutely delicious. The meat was perfectly tender (lamb especially, veal a little bit less) and full of flavor. The food came out quickly, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. We booked our table online two days before, and everything went smoothly. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

I was a party of one, and could very quickly be seated by the bar, which is fine. It was a bit tall, making it a bit weird position to eat in. Staff was nice and friendly. I got to try their duck pate with some bread for free, and then the food arrived very quickly after. The lecso was delicious and very rich. One of the best meals I had in Budapest. Perfectly paired with the bread.

Quirky, modern place to have a lunch or dinner. We have booked a table and we had a feeling that it is recommended as place was full on the lunch time. Loved decor, staff was very attentive and polite. Amazing traditional food. I had pancake with a mushroom filling for a starter. 10 out of 10. Goulash soup for a main. 9 out of 10, only because it felt too salty for my liking. But to be honest I am using not a lot of salt when cooking myself, so in most of places food feels a bit too salty for me. Soup was tasty anyway. Cottage cheese balls in a sour cream sauce for a desert. 10 out of 10. And homemade lemonade for a drink 10 out of 10. Definitely recommend when visiting Budapest. Did not take any pictures of interior as place was full with people and didn't feel it is nice to take pictures of others while they are enjoying their amazing food.

We went to this cafe on a weekday afternoon, and the indoor area was full! Beautiful interior design, very elegant. We had the Hungarian classics on one plate, which contained three slices of dessert selections with vanilla ice cream and apricot sauce. To be honest, didn’t expect that’s how the famous Dobo cake tasted like😅it’s just not for the ones with weak teeth.. the top layer was extremely sturdy. We enjoyed the Gerbeaud slice more.

A truly charming spot that feels like time has paused. You may wait a couple of minutes for a table, but turnover is quick. Pastries are excellent. Opt for the tasting menu to sample the range. The coffee is the star: precise extractions, smooth milk drinks, and aromatic filters. Service is warm and attentive without hovering. A lovely place to drop in for a mid-afternoon reset or an unhurried chat. Wholeheartedly recommended.

Overpriced and not worth the hype. I visited Gerbeaud Café, intrigued by its historic reputation and grand interior, and went specifically to try the famous traditional Hungarian layer cake — Dobos Torte. However, the experience was quite disappointing. We visited after lunch hours and noticed a queue of about 10–12 people outside, even though it moved fairly quickly. Once inside, we were surprised to see the café almost empty. It really felt like they keep people waiting just to create an illusion of high demand — they could easily allocate seats faster. The most shocking part was the pricing. If you choose to dine in, you pay almost double — for example, a slice of Dobos Torte costs 4,250 HUF when eaten on the premises versus 1,990 HUF for takeaway. We decided to go for takeaway instead, and honestly, I’m glad we did. The famous Dobos cake itself was underwhelming — the caramel layer on top was rock hard and nearly impossible to cut, the sponge layers were dry, and the overall taste was overly sweet and unimpressive. An experience I wouldn’t repeat, and definitely not something I’d recommend — especially considering the unreasonable prices.

The beautifully designed and elegant interiors alone make this café well worth a visit. Drawn by its charming atmosphere, we decided to stop by for coffee and dessert. Both were beautifully presented and exceptionally tasty. The coffee was excellent, and it’s worth noting that the café offers various milk alternatives for those who are lactose intolerant, as well as gluten-free options on the menu. The only drawback is the rather high prices, further increased by a 12% service charge — although this is quite standard in Budapest. Nevertheless, for the combination of delightful flavors and refined ambiance, this place is highly recommended.

We had a blueberry and coconut dessert — a flavor unlike anything we’re used to. Macaron also very good. The atmosphere is beyond everything; it’s a moment that truly must be experienced here.

Wonderful historic place that serves the best traditional cakes you can find in the city. We got a seating without reservation and felt welcomed. The staff is kind and helpfull with explaning every cake on the menu. It is hard to say which one is the best, we ordered half of the menu. But the one that stands out is the Pistacchio one. The world famous Gerbeaud cafe lacks world class service unfortunately. They seat gests at the door having enough free tables further inside. You sit in the draught in winter due to the flood of incoming guests and constatly open door. At least they could install an isolation curtain in the entrance. When you get in, there is no garderobe and no hangers for coats so the whole cafe looks like a messy garderobe and if you are in four you have to sit on your own coats. Then you go to toilette where the hygiene is not up to standards of the prices of the cafehouse. When you order breakfast in two, they bring it separately with 8mins difference, so one has finished before the other one started. The thin ham and eggs does not come on pre heated plate, by the time you get to second egg its cold and by third even colder. After the breakfast it takes another 8mins to waiters to notice that you would like to order a dessert. For the service an automatic 15% service charge is included in the bill and the waiter patiently waits for a tip on top. Its a nice cafe at prime location, but the management should pay more attention to customer experience.

We had a wonderful dinner at Menza, which offers a great blend of tasty food and a modern, fancy-casual atmosphere. It’s clearly a popular spot, and for good reason, but my number one tip is to book a table in advance! We saw a queue forming at the entrance, and having a reservation meant we could walk straight in. ​The menu is very tourist-friendly, offering a QR code on the table that brings up the menu in six different languages. The prices were quite reasonable for the quality and the location. ​For our meal, we tried a mix of classic and contemporary dishes: ​The Hungarian Beef Stew (Marhapörkölt) was delicious and a perfect taste of local cuisine. ​The Menza Burger was very tasty, but be prepared for a bit of a mess – it was a little unstable and tended to fall apart while eating. ​The house Menza draft beer was served perfectly cold and was excellent. ​We finished with the cheesecake, which was also very good. ​The service was generally positive; the staff were nice and helpful, though they seemed a bit rushed, which is understandable given how busy the restaurant was. ​Overall, I'd give Menza a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It's a fantastic choice for a lively dinner in Budapest, offering great food in a stylish setting. Just make sure you book ahead to avoid a wait.

Best meal we had in Budapest. Beautiful restaurant with plenty of seating. Service was very quick. Food was beautifully plated, generous portion, reasonable pricing and tasty. Recommend the duck leg with pumpkin risotto and garlic cream soup with langos (although langos was oily and bit too doughy ). The meat in the goulash with spaetzle was a bit dry. The honey mustard pork chop meat was also dry. Overall a lovely meal.

We had such a wonderful experience at Menza in Budapest. The atmosphere is cozy and vibrant, the food was both delicious and beautifully presented, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. Our waiter, Mika, made the evening extra special – he was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. You can really tell he cares about his guests having a great time. We spent a very nice evening here. The service and atmosphere is great! My friend thinks that his dish was very average, I loved my duck liver, perfectly cooked, although mushed potatoes were disappointing: I understand that using a blender is easier to achieve smooth texture results but the texture changes as well. All chefs know that. All in all I would visit this restaurant again.

I went there just after they opened at 11:30am. I went alone without reservation and was let in right away. I ordered the crispy goose leg with braised red cabbage and mashed potato as main. The goose leg has crispy skin, a bit fatty and cooked just right. The mashed potato is not your typical mash which has lumps (I'm not sure if this is how they do it in Hungary) and the braised red cabbage provided a bit of tartness which cuts through the fattiness of the goose leg. The crispy carrot ribbons offered a nice change in mouth feel. I had the pineapple and mango drink which was refreshing and was served in a big glass. For the dessert, I had the vegan panna cotta which seemed that it had a light coconut milk base with pomegranate and blueberries, and tiny tapioca pearls. It was light, not too sweet and a nice dessert to a quite hearty main dish. The panna cotta's consistency though is a bit different which is closer to a protein yogurt rather than the usual panna cotta. Overall, it was a nice lunch, the ambiance was relaxing, and service was fast.

I don’t have much to say every word would be unnecessary. The food is perfect, the cooking is spot on, and every dish is made and served with great love. The service is outstanding. Highly recommend reserving a table in advance come, and enjoy.

What can I say — it’s never enough. When I first came to Budapest two years ago, everything was fresh, delicious, and perfect, and it was exactly the same this year as well. The pumpkin soup was amazing, the hazelnut-crusted chicken breast, the goat cheese lángos, and the Mediterranean salad were all fantastic. Even without a reservation, I was welcomed warmly and treated very kindly. I recommend this place to everyone — even if it’s not on your way, it’s worth coming.

The menu sticks to traditional Hungarian fare, and the food is solid—hearty, flavorful, and clearly made with care. We had a great meal overall, with the standout being the daily special. That said, a couple of dishes felt a little safe or under-seasoned, which is the only reason this isn’t a full five stars. Service was quick, professional, and very efficient—even when the place was packed. It’s not overly chatty or warm, but it runs like a well-oiled machine, and that’s something to appreciate. If you want a true local experience with reliable food and a classic Budapest feel, Café Kör is absolutely worth visiting. Just make sure to book ahead—it fills up fast!

We immediately found a table when we arrived, and the staff member who attended to us was very kind and attentive. I wanted to try the duck, and it was both delicious and filling with its large portions. The service was quick. The only problem was that a strong smell of food was coming from the ventilation window downstairs, which was quite disturbing for us.

Close to the Basilica. Tried Hungarian dishes here for the first time. Their goulash is delicious. My favorite was part of their lunch menu, the oven baked duck leg. Servings were generous. They have limited non-alcoholic drinks. We ordered lemon iced tea and house-made iced tea. Both served in big glasses. Service was great and they also have clean toilets.

The restaurant has a really cozy atmosphere. They have both a standard menu and a special one with recommendations, handwritten on posters. I ordered the foie gras, and they served complimentary bread — a really good ciabatta. The foie gras was absolutely amazing! So fragrant and rich, with a perfect amount of fat, and the portion was quite generous. The potato slices were also cooked just right. I was totally satisfied — the best foie gras I’ve had in Budapest!

We made a reservation for six people for dinner and were seated at our table without any issues upon arrival. They have a standard menu as well as a daily/weekly specials menu displayed on the wall (also available in English). At our table, we ordered the duck, the goose leg, and the pan-fried foie gras. The foie gras was especially outstanding — both in flavor and in portion size. The duck main course was good, though compared to other places I’ve tried, it felt slightly overcooked. The goose leg, on the other hand, was excellent: perfectly crispy on the outside and very flavorful. One detail that caught my attention was that in the photos I had seen before, a single portion appeared to come with two goose legs served on the same plate, whereas ours came with only one. The dishes arrived quite quickly. The atmosphere inside was calm, though in my opinion a bit dim and on the darker side.

my first time trying out classic Hungarian food! i had a salad and the well-known goulash with croquettes, and the food didn’t disappoint one bit. they actually made a mistake with my salad, as i only ordered a fresh mixed salad but they brought me a fish salad; however they, they only charged me the original mixed salad price. i came here during dinner time on a thursday night but they were able to give me a table right away. the staffs were busy but they were friendly and attentive. would recommend this to others.

We had a really nice evening! The food was good — the turbot soup and the beef were especially tasty and well-prepared; the dessert had a lovely mix of flavours. In general, I was expecting a bit more in terms of presentation and colours, but the taste made up for it. The wine pairing was excellent. The birthday surprise for my wife was a really thoughtful touch. The staff were friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience feel special.

We had a very pleasant dinner and a amazing night. Food is very good and matches the Michelin Guide rating. But beyond the supreme food you will very kind people who pay attention. This makes the dinner perfect. If you want to have a bit of a Hungarian wine journey, the win pairing is highly recommended.

The best meal I ever eaten!!! 13 course menu, each dish was more tasty then the last. Modern Hungarian cuisine, some flavor were mainly for Hungarian taste (the bacon was salty (for my taste) and strong goat cheese cake (but I like it). An absolutely must if you love food, exclusive service and the feeling of being at home at the same time, great hospitality. We also love the wine paring, great wine from all of Hungary. Even some of the ingredients are from there own farm, pretty cool I think.

Hello lovely people of Mazel tov restaurant. I am writing to you from a small Croatian town of Vinkovci. We visited Budapest last week and had a pleasure of dinning in your amazing restaurant. We had diy shawarma sandwich, chicken shawarma plate and shakshuka. Everything was very tasty. We discovered some new flavors that we don't normaly have in Croatia so it was amazing experience. For me it was particularly sweet potato chips and mt beetroot salad. Now we do eat sweet potato and beetroot in Croatia, but those spices.. Omg that was something different. Would it be possible to kindly share the secret with me? What spices do you use for sweet potato chips and how do you make that beetroot salad? I am asking for personal consumption and family home cooking. Tried but failed on a walk in, so I booked for lunch the next day. I was first into the restaurant which is beautiful. Within an hour it was full. There a lots of servers so no wonder the service is top notch. All the staff were lovely and chatted in English too. I had a passion fruit and ginger house Lemonade, lovely, cool and fresh. Exactly what my body needed after the previous nights palinka. Then, soul food. The Yemen chicken soup, finest comfort food there is in my book. A tad salty but still lovely. Pastrami sandwich was my main, superb if not the most expensive I have ever eaten. Sadly it came with sweet potato fries, which I detest. Lashings of meat and buttery bread with a tangy cabbage and a fruity dip. Very filling. Finally a double espresso to finish. Everything was top quality from the ingredients to the service. Plates are generous and looking around all the other diners enjoyed it too.

Food was great, service was trash. Honestly, I saw the reviews + photos, and was so excited to eat here. We were sat immediately and the atmosphere is amazing. Unfortunately, we had to wave someone over to take our orders. By that time, we put in drinks, mezze and main course. Within the next ten minutes, our drinks and mezze came but we didn’t see our waiter again. He disappeared. After 50+ minutes (I know because I took these photos), we had to ask someone about our food. Then five minutes later, we asked another person. Then 10 minutes later, we got our food finally. Unfortunately, because we are from out of town, we had a day planned and other things to do. While this just made us late The food was fresh four out of five. It was really disappointing to be so eager for the food and to have just a really poor experience overall.

I had a great experience at Mazel Tov in Budapest. I ordered the shakshuka and it was delicious, super flavorful and perfectly cooked. The guy who took care of my table, Peter, was also wonderful. He even spoke some Spanish, and I really appreciated the effort he made. We understood each other perfectly. The space itself is also really cute and charming. Overall, a lovely place with tasty food and great service!

This place is absolutely incredible - amazing atmosphere, staff and food. They will ensure comfort with a handbag holder, pillow, and bubbles to start. if you go here the duck is a must have - I’ve never had such soft well cooked duck ever. The paprika and potato dumplings are next level. It has to be my favourite dish of all time. They also had incredible bread and butter - the chive butter was the most delicious thing. They provide a lot of complimentary dishes (tasting plate and desserts). Overall it was exceptional.

It was beyond expectation ! I booked lunch for my husband's birthday and it was very delightful experience. As a chef myself I wouldn't cook that much the duck breast and also I would render that fat a bit more at a higher temperature. (Not to criticise but just a suggestion) Deffo worth a visit. Amazing 4 course brunch at quality place. The staff was superb and all the right small touches taking out bags and storing them to giving us moist towels. The four course lunch was great and the soup being the star of the lunch. The whisky cocktail Mangalica was five star. The summer potatoe lemongrass was out of this world, the breads were great. I really wanted to give this restaurant a 5 — and trust me, I’m holding on to that last star so tightly! This spot was recommended by a friend, and from the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a great evening. The waiter greeted us warmly and reassured us they’d find us a table, which they did without any hassle. The atmosphere was absolutely spectacular — beautiful, elegant, and with a sexy charm. A DJ was playing in the background, adding to the vibe without being intrusive. The restaurant features both indoor and outdoor seating, each space beautifully designed with dim romantic lighting, warm wood accents, and plants woven into the decor. We chose to sit outside and it was perfect. We turned to Google Maps for food suggestions and ended up ordering the eggplant schnitzel as a starter and the veal escalope for our main. The portions were generous, the presentation was excellent, and the quality of the food truly stood out. Everything was full of flavor and thoughtfully prepared. To top it off, they welcomed us with complimentary bread, olive oil, and thyme — and ended the meal with delicious Hungarian bubbles on the house. It’s those extra touches that really make a difference. A special shoutout to Martin, our waiter, who was incredibly helpful and added so much warmth to our experience. We highly recommend this place — it’s absolutely worth the visit!

Truly an incredible meal. I've eaten at a lot of good places and this is top 5 if not the best. This place should have a Michelin star. Every dish was phenomenal, words really can't describe how perfect everything was. This is fine dining at the highest level. It's tied together with incredible service. After a disappointing visit some time ago, I decided to give Déryné another chance and I’m so happy I did! I completely fell in love with this place again. The food is delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every time I’ve been back, the experience has been excellent. The service is also 10/10: each time we were served by different waiters, and every one of them was kind and attentive. They paid attention to every little detail and made us feel truly welcomed. The atmosphere and decoration make it such a warm, cozy, and elegant place to be. It’s one of my favorite spots in Budapest, and I always look forward to going back. I recently celebrated my birthday here, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Overall, Déryné has completely won me back. Amazing food, amazing service, amazing vibe. One of the best places in town!

Vibe is great, loved the live jazz, service was attentive and not overbearing. But: the prices are just not justified by the quality of the food. Don’t get me wrong — there is nothing problematic with the food. It’s perfectly fine. But this is a restaurant priced at double Michelin star level, and, that it is not.

Located right at the Basilica square, sure it's touristy, and I'm not sure what differentiates this from most other restaurants in the area, but we ate here. It was air conditioned when it was steaming hot outside, and the Goulash -- I ordered two servings -- was a welcome first meal in Hungary (granted, it was a bit light on the meats and vegetables).

I came for the food and experience. Goulash had great taste, but it consisted of only 4 small cubes of meat, essentially potatoes and carrots, accompanied by 2 slices of bread. The chicken with paprika was absolutely tasteless and flavorless. As it's a beer garden, I expected to have at least a dark draft beer in the winter, but that wasn’t available either. The interior is nice, large, and features good DJ music. However, I didn’t enjoy the food, and the 15% service charge seemed a bit excessive for what we received.

The food was so good. Had the duck leg, the portions being a little small is the only con (so you know it's good). The atmosphere is a one star because the restaurant is in a really busy area with a lot of people passing by honestly not my vibe and was getting overwhelmed by it at times. So a big recommendation for the food but maybe pick indoor seating. The view of the cathedral is hard to turn down though.

Very nice food, cozy interior and welcoming service. The duck leg was definitely my favourite dish, would recommend 100%. We visited around 6 pm and it was definitely not noisy. As for the cost, it ended up being 100€ for 4 plates and 4 drinks, tip included, which is not terrible considering they deliver what they should.

Pros: nice position near the cathedral, very good food. Cons: when we paid, being strangers and not knowing the place tradition, we didn't know about the tips being included in the bill. So, we asked them to add 10% on the POS. Very bad from them, they didn't even told us that we had already the tips included, they just took our money. Two times. People with principles would never do such a thing. We left disgusted about the attitude........

We visited on a weekday and found the place packed, but luckily managed to grab seats at the large bar. It was the perfect spot to enjoy some wine and take in the lively atmosphere. Judging by the satisfied expressions around us, the food seems to be well worth trying — we’ll definitely be coming back for a proper meal.

The atmosphere is really cool and alternative, and all the food we ordered was delicious. We’d like to compliment the guy with bangs, who was super friendly and fun with us! We liked it so much that we came back again.

Excellent, I mean absolutely EXCELLENT food. I would highly recommend this spot for Meditteranean/Israeli food. We walked in here without a reservation so there was a bit of a wait to get a seat, but the servers were extremely nice and efficient in not only making sure we were served a drink while waiting but also getting us a table. The food itself was amazing, there was not one dish that I would not recommend. The menu was fun and interesting and so well priced. The wines were also extremely good and a strong recommendation as they were mostly natural wines with interesting origins!

Was looking for falafel but ended up trying the fried cod shawarma instead. I’ve never had any kind of shawarma before, so I can’t compare, but I really enjoyed it — especially with the hummus and fresh pita on the side. A pleasant surprise was discovering buckwheat tea — I had no idea you could make tea from it, but it was really good. Nice atmosphere and friendly service.

Dobrumba is a welcoming and friendly place. We were greeted with smiles and though there asn't a free table we didn't wait much (for lunch). The same goes for ordering and serving - it was fast with no hassles. We shared several dishes and all of them were warm and freshly cooked. If you are into Middle Eastern food, you'll like it here. Personally I love the flavors. My favorite was the chicken shawarma but I'd also order again the piri-piri chicken, the pomegranate chicken liver and the patatas bravas with aioli. All had rich flavors. If you like homemade lemonade, do try theirs.

We visited last night and had such a great experience. We ordered the mutabal, chicken shawarma, polenta and the fatoush salad, and everything was honestly delicious. They first brought us labneh instead of mutabal by mistake, but they let us keep it on the house, which was really kind of them. The staff were super friendly and the whole place has a great vibe. Was not my first visit in the venue. Everything was just great, food delivery to the table wasn’t delayed at all, everything was on time. So overall experience is exceptional! The place has very comfy atmosphere. Price wise is also acceptable, got 3 dishes and was quite full! Thanks a lot!

If you want to see the venue and want amazing pictures go for it. Try and come early or late to avoid the queues. It is very beautiful inside. However if you not fussed about the fuss then avoid. I think its good to see and experience once. Service was ok. We went with time and just chilled. Was overall a good experience. The live violinist was really nice. The history of the place is amazing. There were some vegan options. The hot chocolate was very filling and rich.

I went to New York Cafe in Budapest to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, and it was honestly a terrible experience. I spoke with the waiter beforehand to bring a dessert with a candle after we finished our meal. After eating, we waited a very long time, watching other tables get cakes with candles while nothing came to ours. I went to another waiter to remind him about the dessert — he said okay, but again, nothing happened. Eventually, we asked for the bill, and guess what? The dessert was added to it even though it never arrived. I told them I wouldn’t pay for something that was never brought, and only then did a lady finally come with the dessert — with the candle already blown out — and asked my boyfriend if it was his birthday. Seriously, who does that? It completely ruined the moment. We waited forever, the food was not worth the hype, and the service was unbelievably poor. I understand it’s a busy place, but that just shows what happens when there’s no competent management. Definitely not worth even one star.

Not worth the money if you’re going for food or coffee at New York Café. Overpriced, with the decoration being the only thing that stands out but toilets decoration is pretty poor. We visited New York Café Budapest expecting a proper gourmet experience, and while the place itself is absolutely stunning, the food really missed the mark. To be fair, the decor is gorgeous—the chandeliers and lighting give the whole place a really special vibe, and the live piano music creates a warm, cosy atmosphere. Visually, it’s pretty incredible. But the food was a real letdown. The coffee had barely any flavour, and my partner’s coffee even came out cold, so we had to send it back. He ordered the Hungarian eggs, which were alright, but my eggs Benedict were honestly a shocker. The muffin was so dry and tough it was nearly impossible to cut—nothing like the soft, fluffy base you’d expect from a proper eggs Benny. Overall, the venue is beautiful and the ambiance is spot-on, but the food just didn’t deliver. For such a famous spot, the whole dining experience was pretty disappointing and definitely didn’t live up to the hype.

My mom & I visited the café on two different days, and both experiences were absolutely wonderful. The stunning interior and elegant atmosphere make it a must-visit in Budapest it truly feels like dining inside a palace! On our first day, Gergely, who attended to us was very professional and composed. I believe he’s one of the managers, and his presence and attention to detail made a great impression On our second day, we were warmly attended by Stefi, who was always smiling, attentive, and genuinely kind. Her positive energy made our visit extra special. The food, coffee, and desserts were excellent, but it’s really the staff. If you're lucky enough to be served by Stefi you're in for a treat! 🌟

The place is quite touristy, and even on a late weekday evening there was still a short queue. Despite its large size with at least two floors, it was packed, and the tables felt very close together. The interior is undeniably beautiful, though it could use better maintenance and cleanliness. As expected, the menu items are on the pricey side. I’m not complaining since we’re tourists ourselves, but it’s probably not the best choice if you’re after a relaxed atmosphere.

Stunning Setting with Room for Service Improvement New York Café is one of the most beautiful cafés in the world, with a breathtaking interior that feels like stepping into a palace. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Budapest, and it’s absolutely worth visiting for the atmosphere alone. The food is good, though not exceptional, and the service could be better. The staff seem quite used to the constant flow of tourists, so the experience can feel a bit rushed or impersonal at times. Still, it’s a must-see spot for its incredible architecture and history. If you go, take your time to enjoy the surroundings, it’s an unforgettable place to have coffee or dessert, even if the service isn’t as polished as the setting.

Initially we were allocated in this annex room down the bottom. It was very disappointing as you can’t even hear the music. My review would have been 1 star. Luckily I decided to speak to the manager and we were kindly moved to the upper room where the experience met the expectation and I had the most amazing blueberry cheesecake coup hearing the music and seeing the musicians. The experience downstairs was terrible. Forgotten with the underdogs. It’s impossible to have a great experience there as you will be saddened by the prices in a regular room. In my opinion that room should not be used unless they put a musician playing down there. Even the food felt average whilst we sat there. Life was different on the upper floor and I strongly reccomend you to complain about your seat in case you are taken to the dark room far from the magic. We had an amazing experience and it was worth every cent once sat on the upper level. I would definetely return.

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent, and our server, Adri, was incredibly attentive. We initially wanted to leave an extra 5% tip for her, but she honestly explained that a 15% service charge was already included in the bill, and the additional 5% would be for her personally. This honesty truly impressed us—it showed that her great service was genuine and not motivated by tips. During our trip in Budapest, this was the first time a server clarified this so openly, which made the whole experience even more memorable!

This place deserves the love! A grandma’s-kitchen styled restaurant with live music and wonderful servers. The menu isn’t very large but perfect for what you should get while in Budapest. The flavors were all phenomenal and seasoned wonderfully. The langos was the perfect appetizer to share — a warm fried dough with a sour cream and cheese topping really started our meal off well. Had the stuffed sour cabbage in cream and pork with paprika sauce and dumplings. Great presentations and flavor profiles. Everything about this spot is lovely — no wonder reservations are hard to come by. Came for a date night and would totally come here again with friends.

We ordered the pork loin and duck leg - both were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., local producers offer a wide range of fresh and artisanal products, including breads, cheeses, honey, jams, yogurts, pasta, and traditional Hungarian sweets. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and entry is free—perfect for anyone wanting to explore the local culture in an authentic way.

Located in the heart of the Jewish Quarter, it’s the original ruin bar, a concept born from transforming abandoned buildings into eclectic, artsy nightlife spaces. The place is a visual overload: mismatched furniture, bathtubs as seats, graffiti-covered walls, and quirky installations everywhere you look. I went once at night. Night time, , is when Szimpla comes alive: live music, DJs, and a buzzing crowd of locals and tourists. It’s loud, chaotic, and absolutely fun. Drinks are reasonably priced for a tourist hotspot, and they have a good selection of local craft beers (try the Budapest Lager) and cocktails. The staff were friendly, and the vibe was welcoming despite the crowds. Tips: Go early if you want to explore the space and take photos. At night, expect crowds—especially on weekends. Would I go back? Definitely. Szimpla Kert is more than a bar, it’s a cultural experience and a must-see if you’re in Budapest.

Such a cool and new experience for me! I went both day and night, and they both had two very different vibes. I would recommend getting a coffee in the morning to explore the flea market as well and at night visiting around 7-8pm to avoid the queue (weekend) and grabbing a cherry ale. The cherry ale was lovely and the interior blew my mind. Strongly recommend to visit!

Lovely place to have a beautiful dinner. Perfectly situated for a walk to zoo, park area or hero’s square. The traditional but upscale cuisine was very delicious. I’ve decided the Hungarian’s are the best soup makers. It was a nice meal with some service hiccups. The waiter did not have the best grasp of the English language and that was fine, but our glasses of libations were left empty for a while before refilling and our empty serving plates were slow to be taken. A couple of waiters noticing were quick to remedy the young waiter and waitress errors. Live music was divine. Definitely a good choice.

Oh my - I’m always cautious of places like these on the basis that they are simply trading on their name after all this time but I couldn’t not have been more wrong! The food was superb but what absolutely made our evening was how expertly Béla guided us through the wine menu and recommended us a bespoke Hungarian wine flight that both matched our preferred wines and our courses. I visited Gundel with my mother during our trip to Budapest, as I wanted to treat her to a special dinner. The restaurant’s strong reviews, elegant atmosphere, and reputation for great food made it an easy choice and it certainly lived up to expectations. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. We were warmly welcomed and guided to our table, and throughout the evening the staff were attentive, friendly, and helpful with recommendations whenever we were unsure. The restaurant itself is beautiful and classy, creating the perfect setting for a memorable evening. I started with an Espresso Martini served in a cappuccino-style cup—a creative and delightful touch. For dinner, we chose the meal + starter/soup option. The staff kindly went above and beyond by serving us two bowls of soup rather than asking us to share one, which was a small but very thoughtful gesture. The goulash soup, in particular, was outstanding - tender meat and incredible flavor. Every dish we tried was excellent, and we truly enjoyed the whole dining experience. The only element I personally wasn’t fond of was the live band walking around the tables asking for money after playing. While some guests may enjoy it, I felt it was a bit out of place in such a refined setting. That said, our evening at Gundel was absolutely wonderful. Both the food and the service were exceptional, and I would happily return. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Budapest!

The rhythm slipped here and there, and in a place like Gundel that flow is part of the experience. Still, it’s an extraordinary restaurant. When it all aligns, you’re reminded why this house has become part of Budapest’s story.

The menu was very comprehensive, with excellent starters and a wide selection of premium wines thoughtfully explained by a knowledgeable sommelier. The main courses were interesting and well-executed. However, the service felt overly intrusive when it came to pouring drinks and clearing plates — we felt rushed, which unfortunately prevented us from fully enjoying the experience.

Despite Google maps suggesting it would be closed on Sunday's, having reached out directly to the restaurant via email to book, my family and I enjoyed a fabulous meal this Sunday evening. The food was excellent, the view amazing and the staff, especially our waiter David, were first class. Their attention to detail was brilliant, with the perfect balance between attentiveness and allowing us to enjoy our own company and take in the most fantastic view over Pest from our outdoor table. We arrived at 7pm so benefited from both the view in the daylight, and the stunning illuminated nighttime views of the Houses of Parliament, St. Stephen's Basilica and the bridges over the Danube. Not your usual evening meal and a treat for sure, but one that was worth it! A Michelin star surely won't be far away ⭐

This is a top notch experience not to be missed if you are in Budapest. I had the vegetarian tasting menu and each course was gorgeous and flavorful. I went with a group of 7 people and we all felt this is a Michelin-level restaurant. The setting is spectacular, overlooking the Parliament building which sparkles with lights at night. Our server kept our large group very happy. Save room for dessert, it was spectacular.

an absolutely exceptional experience from start to finish. it was easy to book a table on the phone and we got a same day booking (20:00 on a Tuesday) no problem. the menu is extensive and has wine pairing options and á la carte. we chose 4 courses á la carte with wine advice from the sommelier and all of it was outstanding. the service from Berni, David and Martin was wonderful, warm, professional and entertaining. the table and view were stunning. we cannot wait to return!!

If you want to relive some communist era atmoshere and taste the best, the most original Hungarian dishes, this is your destination number 1. You must stand in a line, as there is a line of foreigners and locals. But don't worry-- it will not be an eternal wait, just till the next table is open. And inside: cool 1980s-90s music (George Michael' s "Faith" was on when we sat down), plastic checkered (oil) cloth, full plates of typical local dishes. The staff is kind, polite, jokeful and full of understanding towards picky customers. Congratulations Frici Papa, we had a blast 💖 ❤️ 💙

one of our favourite meals in budapest :) traditional food at an affordable price we got the mushroom goulash and chicken paprika (both with papas fritas) the meal was very comforting as well especially in the cold weather you can also get chimney cake down the road afterwards (but they open at 2pm)

Very elegant restaurant, I really liked it. I ordered chicken paprikash, and was recommended to order some rice on side, so food was nice aswell. But, when paying the bill, I was told %10 increase was applied to paprikash’s price. Also , note that they don’t have exchange for Euro so if you’re a cash carrier like me, either try to obtain some Forint or try to leave no need for exchange.

A place serving a collection of traditional Hungarian dishes. They also offer the menu of the day at an affordable price (2,500 HUF). The day menu is pretty basic, but it's still 3 courses and the atmosphere is really nice. I appreciated how kind every one of Frici Papa Team was. Would love to go back again :)

Good food with affordable prices. Wine goulash was fine, meat was delicate, although it was a little bit fatty. There is also bread served at the table, so it may be sufficient for the goulash. Meat with mushroom sauce was much better - as it was much lighter. We waited only for a couple of minutes to get in and then we also didn't wait long to get our food.

This is a very cost-effective restaurant! If you like to eat a lot of meat, then you come to the right place! Very authentic fried chicken steak, beef soup, red wine beef brisket, we had the most meat meal in Budapest, I will visit again.

Coffee shop with a lot of history. Great coffee and very nice cakes, the Ruszwurm custard cake was delicious. Avoid the lemonade; many people left it unfinished. Unfortunately, it's a popular tourist spot, so the shop is always very busy, and the service was very poor.

The cake was highly popular. I guess we are not for it as it had lots of cream but it is a cream cake so it’s only natural. It tasted good though. We just wanted to try this cafe as it has a long history. If you sit indoors, it is warm though so maybe sitting outdoors would be much better😀

Absolutely loved this patisserie! The cake was moist, flavorful, and perfectly sweet — you can tell it’s made with love. The coffee was rich and smooth, a perfect match. We came for the Kremes ( Vanilla Cream Slice) and stayed for the Almond cake. Last visit was 8yrs ago and it is exactly as we remember. Yes the wait might be long to get a table and the staff are busy, but that's because it is so good. There are lots of beautiful places to sit not too far from the cafe so if the line is long, grab it to go. We visited twice this time around and great both times

Historic and popular café near Buda Castle, but a bit overrated. We waited in a long queue for an outdoor table. Tried three recommended pastries—none were particularly impressive. Staff wasn’t friendly. Not accessible for wheelchairs—there are 3–4 steps at the entrance.

Good coffee and cream cake. The reason I gave it 1 star is because the service was bad. This cafe is known for its cream cake. Upon arrival I ordered 4 coffees and 4 cream cakes. We then got 4 coffees promptly and then just got 1 cream cake. I asked where the other 3 were and the server said they were sold out. Why couldn't he tell me this earlier? Secondly, this cafe is famous for cream cake, how could they sell out of such an iconic item

If you’re a fan of desserts and tasty pastries, you must try their pastries. You will not be disappointed. I bake a lot and what I tried was heavenly. Congrats for making cakes and baked goodies for almost 200 years. Food: 5+/5 - we had the crème cake, caramel cake and Eszterhazy torta! My favorite was the Ruszwurm cake. They even have cookies and gluten free options. Try their assorted drinks and ice creams. I had the sour cherry lemonade which was full of fruity taste. They also offer takeout if you choose not to wait. Service: 5/5 the servers outside did a wonderful job with the crowd control as the odd person tried sneaking in. The lineups can get crazy and hectic. Atmosphere: 4/5 - there was outdoor and inside seating.

Had a superb evening. The tasting menu was great and we were told the story behind each dish. The atmosphere was cosy and calm and the food was very good. We are definitely coming back next time we are in Budapest!

We celebrated our honeymoon at Onyx Műhely and it is most definitely the best meal of our trip. We went for the six course menu and had no regrets, everything was delicious! We especially loved the ravioli, the oyster mushroom dish, and the catfish main. Rebeka was amazing and explained each dish to us. The whole team was attentive and kind. Also, shoutout to Kornél for making the experience even better! Since it was our honeymoon, they surprised us with a dessert to take home and a Polaroid photo. We went to Mozaik while visiting Budapest. The food is fine dining with an a la carte menu. You choose one starter, one vegetarian, one meat and one dessert. You can add additional courses if you want to. My husband chose to have an additional meat course. Everything was exceptional and incredible value for money. My personal favourite was the ravioli! They also showed us their other restaurant Aether and if are back in Budapest we would definitely visit.

The food was not as tasty as I expected, I would say everything was average and the appetisers were the best among them. The combination was creative but the flavours just did not go well together. The staff was attentive but should put more confidence into the introduction of the dishes

Well... where do I start. Fine Dining Restaurants are my Hobby and profession. So i have seen quite a few of These. Still, what they do here is an absolutely exceptional experience! The Service is top notch. attentive, friendly and they create a very nice leisurely atmosphere while still being on the highest level of product knowledge and professionality. The food is creative, cleverly combined and gives a glimpse into the future of fine dining. Regional products, processed on the highest Level. You can Taste the love and dedication in the kitchen on every plate. The wine pairing was perfect, on a really great Level and really Not expensive for what i got. The alcohol free pairing was the best i ever had. They REALLY put work into that! The Ambience was nice and clean cut. In a short presentation before the Dinner we were shown how the place will Look after renovation will be finished (~spring '25). that alone would be a reason to come back. Awesome street carts festival vibes. Food is good, atmosphere even better. Unfortunately it is very overpriced and definitely a tourist trap. If you cant find anything else open at night, it is very well worth a visit as you'll find multiple types of food in one spot.

Great to come here as a tourist for lunch. There was lots of food options for us and plenty of seating. The atmosphere was good and the food venue is well decorated. The service system works well, as they give you a buzzer that will alarm when the food is ready to collect. I would come back here!

The avocado bowl was extremely tasty, slightly spicy, and the meat was crispy. The wings were also delicious, but the sauce wasn't really that great. The cocktails we drank were also good. The atmosphere was cool and fun. Overall, it was something different and I definitely recommend it. We will definitely be back!

I went to the first burger place on the right and ordered some sides. They were really good (I recommend their garlic sauce, it is really good). This is a fun place to go and just try things. I found it strange that the goulash i bought did not have a lid. I had intended to take it back to hotel. Oh well. I think almost anyone could find something to eat here. I would not do supper since there are so many other restaurant options in Budapest.

The Karavan has a lot of options to choose from. A bit pricey but the food is good. Friendly service but during lunch time there's less seats open.

most wonderful dinner at Kollázs! The atmosphere is stunning—elegant and buzzing with a beautiful view of the Chain Bridge. The food was absolutely delicious; we especially loved the modern twist on Hungarian classics (the duck breast was incredible!). Our server was so friendly and gave us perfect wine recommendations to match our meal. It’s the perfect blend of a special-occasion spot and a place where you can just have a really fantastic, memorable night out. Highly recommend!

We arrived for breakfast, the service was very professional and friendly. The selection of food was not as large as I would have expected. There were no cakes. And not enough yogurts and cheeses. The eggs Benedict were excellent. The coffee was also great. The experience is nice. The price is not cheap.

After spending two weeks in Budapest, we met up with all our old and new friends here as a capstone to our time together. Frankly, I don't have much to say about the food and drinks, other than that we had a good time here and the drinks were fine. Certainly prepare for Four Seasons prices, but that's expected.

A flawless experience from beginning to end at KOLLÁZS Brasserie. The service was impeccable, guided by an excellent sommelier who elevated the evening. The French onion soup was the best we have ever tasted, and the steak frites were cooked to perfection. An exquisite meal in an elegant yet relaxed setting. Pricey! But well worth it.

On arrival we were put on a to table in a corner where it seemed everyone were clustered, why they put everyone in one area to avoid serving the entire restaurant is nothing less than lazy, I like to have private conversation and I’m sure the other tables right next to us do too. However, the cappuccino x 2 were returned, basically just a black coffee with foam On top (see pictures) the replacement was just as bad. Then when we required service, we had to almost stand up and wave, three staff including the manager just looked right though us. Asking for more butter was all we wanted, which was as small as a tiny spoon when it arrived. Come on—- this is four seasons not four reasons not to be happy. Never again thanks especially for €60 for two very bad coffees and two scrambled eggs dished (without butter until you ask). Michelin recommended ??? Where they blind.

It’s a beautiful place, perfect for dinner or a drink. Daniel, the bar manager has created a nice cocktail, never thought red wine and cashew would pair so good in a cocktail. The staff are so friendly and surprise me with a beautiful chocolate cake. Overall, it was a pleasant experience Would definitely visit this place again when I am in Budapest. 💕

Loved the place. We sat outside in the courtyard. Food was excellent and our waiter was so kind and helpful. He was plesent and everything happend smoothly. Atmosphere were relaxing, piano was played inside but not loud. My husband have very serious a celery allergy and they prepaired all the food he wanted with out celery. We will definitely come back and we recommed this restaurant to others as well. Remember to taste Palinka 🙂

Very nice hole in the wall that should be visited if you are in the castle district, offering up tasteful Italian/Hungarian dishes with great selection of wine. Beautiful setting that had live piano music at the time and nice outdoor seating away from the street. Our waiters Gellért and Levi also went above and beyond to make our dining experience memorable.

There was a bit of an issue with our booking because when we arrived at the booked time, we were told that the manager was supposed to call me and inform the cancellation due to a last minute wedding. I checked my spams and all inbox, nothing was confirmed, in fact, Open Table sent a reminder a day prior. Regardless, the waiter gave us a spot and asked if we’re okay with eating in 1.5 hour so with sour faces we did sit. After that everything turned out fantastic. The waiter was such a kind and generous young man, he paid attention to everything we needed, was seeking our comfort and pleasure in dining to the maximum. The food was super delicious (starter, main, dessert), the plating was gorgeous and creative and our seat still had a fine enough view to the garden. Price wise it is not 20k HUF per person, I left paying 128 euros (51K forint) for 2 people and we shared one starter, only one of us had dessert (we didn’t eat the most expensive nor the least expensive main) and we didn’t drink alcohol or coffee. Check menu before you book and check the booking status before you get going to your event.

Pierrot in Buda Castle is a total gem! After a busy day exploring the Buda Castle, it felt like stepping into an oasis calm, beautiful, and full of charm. The food was amazing, the atmosphere lively, and the service top notch. Huge shoutout to our servers Gellért and Levi, their wine and food recommendations, friendliness, and attention to detail made our night unforgettable. Highly recommend! Can't wait to go back! We have 6 people to eat lunch here . We ordered 2 famous fish soup , 1 fried chicken breast , 1 fired catfish , 1 beef veggies noodles and 1 Schnitzel for total over 50,000 HUF. Food and service are ok . I already knew they will put 15% service charge on the bill . What it gets me was the server reminds me of tips when I tried to pay with my credit card . I points out to the bill for 15% then he canceled the tip option on the machine . I felt they are dishonest and trying to scam the tourists. Be aware .

Interesting interior, with a fisherman in a boat. (We didn't photograph all the dishes), fish soup in a camping pot, as if just from the fire,, delicious dishes and desserts.

Whole grilled trout was good, tender and comes with lots of vegetables. Kids meal (fried fish) was too deep-friend so my kids didn’t like at all, and the portion was surprisingly small. 15% “service charge” was added to the bill without asking but there was absolutely no service. No water, no checking how was the food. And my kids even asked me “why did they quickly walked away after said thank you (after I paid)”. I think this is too popular for tourist so they don’t care.

Great little place with great foods. Traditional Hungarian foods.,Lots of food and very hot at table side. Plenty of bread and if you like traditional cucumber sales their sale was just like mom’s. I really recommend this place for fresh hot food with a touch of class and not too expensive for its location.

Delicious food in good portions, the carp fish soup and the porck chucks were so so good, fish and chips were also surprisingly good especially the potatoes and the pear soup is ..odd but good, like you really need to be the person for it Prices were alright - Budapesr touristy prices

Update: They are prejudicial or racist. I walked back just a little later and some of those same tables had new diners. Still plenty of open tables. The host/waiter told me they were full when there were 4+ tables open and the restaurant was still open for 2 hours. Maybe they're a little bit racist?

I went there yesterday, we were around 10 people and we sat upstairs on the private floor. The food we got was excellent also the place was stunning. But our waitress was unfocused and made mistakes with our order. We booked the place for 9 pm and were bot told that the kitchen closed at 9:30pm so we had to oreder quickly. To their credit, they prepared everything quickly despite the mistakes in the order, and we had no complaints about the food.

Natural typical Hungarian restaurant. This place takes Hungarian dishes and elevate them multiple levels up. My duck potatoes and red cabbage was so delicious. I’m not quite sure how they made the red cabbage into the purée they did but it was delicious. That kind of goes with every dish that came out recognizable, but taken to a whole Nother level. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly or attentive. If you want a special night out and are willing to pay a little bit extra for it you will definitely get your moneys worth here.

Had a great start to a trip with stand25. The goulash was delicious, flavourful and had tender beef. The pork dish also had a great sauce. Salmon was cooked perfectly and the risotto (albeit a bit heavy) was yummy as well. A wonderful introduction to Hungarian food!

Our dinner at Stand25 Bistro in Budapest was a real culinary highlight. The open kitchen was the centerpiece of the experience, and we were lucky enough to be seated right in front of it – watching the chefs at work added an extra layer of excitement to the evening. The food was simply outstanding. The lángos and goulash soup were the best we’ve had anywhere in Budapest, rich in flavor and perfectly executed. The salmon on risotto was sensational, with a perfectly crisp skin and a full, balanced taste. The wild boar ragout with homemade round noodles was also excellent. For dessert, both the palacsinta and the Esterházy torte impressed us with their quality. The wine pairing with the main course was well chosen and complemented the dishes beautifully. The service was professional and efficient, though a little more distant compared to the warm and jovial atmosphere we’ve experienced elsewhere. Nevertheless, Stand25 Bistro is absolutely worth a visit. It offers refined Hungarian cuisine in a tasteful setting and is a true gem for those looking for something more sophisticated in Budapest’s dining scene.

Our trip to Budapest was all about visiting several Michelin-starred restaurants. Stand25 Bisztro joined our list 😉. There was also the added bonus of "our anniversary." A greeting card awaiting us at our reserved table was a pleasant surprise (and a sweet treat served at the end 😛). The menu is very diverse; I think everyone will find something to suit their taste preferences. And the dishes served are pure poetry at their finest, not only in terms of flavor but also a feast for the eyes. The composition of the individual dishes... and desserts!... make our taste buds go wild... and shout "wow." I highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates exquisite cuisine and an exclusive setting. The service is completely professional and top-notch. Bravo!

We were very lucky to have a table right next to the kitchen, we can look at chefs working on all the dishes as well as the wait staff interacting with the kitchen. That’s made our meal that much more fun. The overall food was very delicious and interesting, the only slight disappointment was the deconstructed pork knuckle plate. Was looking for a full knuckle with skin and all, instead we have only few pieces of meat in some kind of sauce.

I chose Stand 25 Bisztró, which is the more affordable bistro counterpart of the Michelin-starred Stand 25 restaurant. It’s located on the opposite side of the city center, but it’s actually not far. The restaurant has an open kitchen. We ordered the cold foie gras, goulash soup, and for the main courses we had duck and venison. We also had two cocktails before the meal; both were excellent, especially the velvet cocktail. As for the food: the goulash soup was a bit lukewarm and could have been served hotter, and the taste wasn’t particularly impressive. The foie gras came with toasted bread and was exactly as expected for those familiar with it. The duck was very tender and delicious. The venison, which I normally expect to be quite tough, was perfectly cooked, and the potato gratin on the side was also excellent. However, the only — yet completely experience-ruining — issue was the attitude of the waitstaff. Their behavior was shockingly rude. For example, I had checked menu photos on Google beforehand, and when I showed a photo of the dish I was referring to, the waiter responded harshly, saying, “you should choose from the menu, not from photos.” The way they placed the dishes on the table was also very impolite, almost as if they were throwing them in front of us. The worst moment was when I politely asked for the dessert menu before finishing the main course. The waiter refused and said, “I’ll give it to you when you finish your meal,” and only brought it afterward. I have never seen anything like this. A customer should be able to ask for and receive the menu at any time. Later, when I showed a Google photo of a dessert, the waiter again scolded me, saying, “our menu is not on Google; it’s in your hand.” That was the last straw for us. We decided not to order dessert and asked for the bill immediately. Honestly, the owners should seriously train their staff on proper customer service and basic manners. It was a huge disappointment.

I visited this place in Budapest to try some local dishes, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. I had the goulash soup and the country chicken stew with homemade dumplings; both were very tasty and well-prepared. However, since we were seated at one of the tables tucked away in a corner, it was quite difficult to get the attention of the waitstaff. At some point, it felt more efficient to walk inside and place our orders ourselves rather than wait for someone to come over. 🥲 Aside from the service issue, the food was definitely worth trying

We came when it opened and sat outside in the patio, in hindsight would’ve sat inside because there was a lot of tiny flies. We ordered a Limonade which was refreshing mix. A Vasi vaddisznoporkolt (stew with noodles)- noodles were good but the stew was very salty. And a ciganypecsenye steakburg (Hungarian style pork steak.) This was delicious pork slice with crispy bacon pieces. The sauce and the potato was perfect compliment.

Great for authentic Hungarian meat dishes, skip the desserts. Paprika Jancsi is a truly authentic Hungarian restaurant with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The waiter was super friendly and gave us honest recommendations, which we really appreciated — and they didn’t disappoint. We tried the wild boar with homemade noodles, and it was hands down the best dish — huge recommendation if you visit! The veal stew was okay, as was the dish with mushrooms (decent but nothing special). Unfortunately, desserts let us down. The chocolate cherry pancakes were one of the worst I’ve tried — the chocolate was watery, and there wasn’t enough filling. The apple pie with vanilla ice cream was average at best. A good spot if you’re after hearty meat dishes, traditional flavors, and generous portions. I’d skip dessert and maybe just enjoy the main courses here.

Sunday night, pretty quiet. Wasn’t acknowledged straight away but service picked up afterwards with better attentiveness. Goulash was rather salty to my taste and the duck seemed overcooked and tough yet still red inside? Maybe I’ve had too much Chinese roast meats?

Paprika was recommended to me as "The best local food in all of Hungary." And it did not dissappint. The serving sizes were very generous and well priced, and their homemade lemonade is fantastic!

A very cozy café-restaurant with truly delicious dishes, located on a beautiful and picturesque street. We’ve been here several times and always enjoyed it. The staff is kind and welcoming, and the atmosphere is calm, relaxing, and wonderfully homely.

Our first Hungarian dinner out in Budapest was recommended by the hotel. Our meal was wonderful, Wild Boar Stew and Potato Noodles and Grilled Atlantic Salmon with Pasta mixed with Spinach. Great street cafe atmosphere. Loved this place❤️❤️❤️

A fantastic buffet with excellent service, delicious food, and a beautiful interior. The only downside is the manager, who spoils the pleasant atmosphere somewhat. The food was excellent - delicious, fresh, and high-quality. Their buffet provides a really good variety of dishes. We were even surprised to find sushi! And at the grill area, you can have meats, seafood, or veggies cooked / grilled to your liking. Dining here was great, as we were able to try lots of Hungarian and European dishes that we had never tried or experienced before. And Trofea’s buffet style really provides diners an opportunity to do so. Easy to walk to location. The Service was excellent. The prices are high, but for the value of the buffet and the standard of the restaurant, the pricing is reasonable. Definitely worth the visit!

It is an experience... Buffet including beverages. First off, the buffet is very nice, both traditional Hungarian food and also whatever meat, seafood you desire. Salat, bread, dessert and cheese is also included. Worth a try. You have 3 hours to slowly taste everything 😁 just go try it 👍

We had a lunch with kids, all inclusive including drinks, wine and beer. Kids under 14 are half price. There’re a lot of starters hot and cold, soups, salads and desserts. And also there’s a grill and you can get meat, fish or vegetables grilled. Kids have less options to eat, that’s why half price is very reasonable. Great service and nice atmosphere.

Lovely atmosphere in central town. Their buffet options is varied with international and local cuisine. They equally offer on-the-spot grill for my grill lovers 😋. You can eat and drink as much as you can. Shout out to Zoltan for the wonderful customer service 😉

Wow wow wow. Quite possibly the best buffet on this planet. Quality is off the charts for a buffet. Staff are super friendly. Location is right in the middle of the action. ONLY €40 at weekends and way less during the week. Wowwwwwwwwww

A really high quality buffet, loaded with so many items. There was duck, mutton, chicken, ribs, shrimp, beef, pork, and other fish. They have rice, several type of potatoes, pasta, cabbage rolls, sushi, nuts, seeds, smoked salmon, salamis, hummus, vegetarian items, vegetables, and many other one of a kind items. I loved the sauces, from mild, sweet, and spicy. There was a large selection of delicious desserts, from cheese cake and tiramisu, chocolate cakes, and even fruit. The food was fresh and delicious, and we filled our plates twice. Beer and wine is also included, and one price covers it all. The place was pretty crowded at 4pm, so it might be a good idea to have a reservation. We saw a couple of birthday celebrations going on, it is a great place for an occasion

Our first time visiting Budapest and we were excited to try this spot after seeing all the great reviews. The food was beautifully presented and clearly well-prepared, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite match our taste — it was a bit bland and wasn’t served hot, which took away from the experience. On the plus side, the drinks were fantastic, and the atmosphere was lovely. However, it was uncomfortably warm inside and the AC room wasn't opened, which made it a bit hard to enjoy fully. I’d definitely come back for the drinks and the vibe, but probably not for the food.

Touristy Spot with Great Service and a Nice View – Spoon the Boat Spoon the Boat offers a lovely view of the Danube and Bratislava Castle, which makes it an attractive stop for visitors. The staff was very professional and attentive — service was definitely one of the highlights of the experience. However, the food was fairly average and didn’t quite live up to the location or the prices, which felt quite high even for a tourist-oriented place. The interior and furniture could also use some updating, as it doesn’t feel particularly fresh or modern. Overall, it’s a pleasant enough place for a drink or a quick meal with a great view, but if you're looking for exceptional cuisine or authentic atmosphere, there are better options in the city.

Amazing food, but poor service. We went for an early dinner and there were about 10 waiters prepping the tables for evening service or just standing around chatting, with one even secretly vaping. The food can really not be faulted - very interesting and tasty!

Really nice restaurant on the river! We ordered the tenderloin steak (medium rare) and the fish dish — both were delicious and perfectly cooked. The lemon and ginger lemonade was super refreshing too. The food is a bit salty and prices are on the higher side, but the great service and beautiful atmosphere with amazing views make it worth the visit. Very suitable for a romantic dinner, and the view of the bridge at night is absolutely stunning!

This restaurant was recommended to us during our trip to Budapest, and it was a real success. The chicken supreme with mushroom risotto was incredible, truly delicious. The Angus burger and Caesar salad were also very tasty. The hot chocolate was a perfect ending, confirming that this restaurant's cuisine is of a very high standard. The restaurant is very beautiful and tastefully decorated. The staff was attentive, but I must admit we had to remind them three times that we had ordered glasses of white wine, and even more times to get the hot chocolate. This latter point was not in keeping with the excellent quality of the food and the beautiful restaurant and its decor.

Wonderful place! The view from the window is fantastic, especially when the sun goes down and the sky has golden shadow... The food is perfect. The attention of the young tall waiter (I think his name was Kristof, sorry if not) was very kind... Really the place for visit and coming back!

Lovely meal and reasonably priced for the venue. We arrived an hour before our booking and they managed to squeeze us in. Service was great and food was lovely. Some traditional dishes as well as steak. Good wheelchair access and they had a wheelchair accessible toilet.

We ordered two times their large tasting menu and they were happy to slightly adapt the menu for my pregnant wife ❤️ I also really enjoyed their alcohol free drinks 🍹🍸 We were recommended this by colleagues in Denmark and it did not disappoint 😀

Damn! This place was recommended to us and I so much wanted to like it. Service was attentive and polite. Although our grilled vegetables side was missed. The Seabass was amazing - absolutely perfect. NOW. The beef cheeks were so overcooked I could have re-soled my shoes with them. Yes, I did send this dish back. Another returned - the same as the first. I spoke to the head chef and we agreed to disagree. The "slow cooked" beef should fall off the bone - not require a saw to get through (refer to the photos and you can decide)! One star lost for the overcooked beef - even though this was removed from the final bill - OBVIOUSLY! Another star lost for the ridiculous 15% service charge. Let the diners determine the tip based on experience.

I had one of the best meals of my life here last Monday evening. Had previously been here six years before and it was great then so went back to see if it would be as good. And it was!! The decor is really luxurious and comes alive when the sun goes down. Service was great throughout. Special mentions to the waiter Zsolt, Arman who did an amazing job. We went for the set menu and wine pairing. The food came out at perfect intervals. Tasted incredible. Highlights for me were the foie gras, the beef pasta, the lobster and steak. The lobster is the standout. Tasted so good just wanted more. And more. The wine was also brilliant and presented well by our aforementioned sommelier. Each course were beautifully presented. The cocktails were amazing and we were treated to the kitchen/chefs table for the dessert where we got to leave our mark on the wall and also meet the team. Everyone was so polite and kind. We even got a tour of their side restaurant which is a sensory room for eating in. Would love to go back for that. This place is an 11/10. Would highly recommend it.

Outstanding culinar experience at the Uncensored, from the cocktails at the bar, the secret rntry through the wardrobe and the wine cellar. The whole experience, from the service, the drinks, the excellent food combined with the 360 visuals was something unique which we'll remember for years.

We had an unforgettable evening at Caviar & Bull in Budapest. From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. Our server Farzeneh, along with Gabor and Benci, made the evening so special with their impeccable service and deep knowledge of the menu. The caviar and vodka tasting was a highlight — the Beluga was so good we had to order more! Every detail was perfectly explained, making it both fun and educational. The scallops were also absolutely delicious. Thank you to the entire team for creating such a memorable night. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend Caviar & Bull to anyone visiting Budapest.

Great food, kind staff, beautiful and cozy place! If you are visiting Matthias Church, this is an excellent stop not too close to the crowds but still incredibly close to everything. As always, prioritize local cuisine! Try the best they have to offer! If you are not willing to experience this fundamental part of a country’s culture, don’t worry, they have plenty of options for unadventurous guests! I was not very hungry and they suggested the classic fish soup, to which I added a salad and a side of their delicious homemade bread! Enjoy this food, place, and atmosphere!

I live in Miami, USA. Travel all over Europe and beyond. If you are a solo traveler, I don’t recommend this restaurant. Never being bounced this way. I actually congratulate attendant as he was honest and he said “ we only have table for four” and he pointed me out to other restaurant in the area. From business point of view more people, more money. I would do the same if I had a restaurant 😅. A couple after me were allowed to go in. I went to Pierrot restaurant down the street and left my money there. I have a fast metabolism so I eat like for two people. It is what it is. It was around 2 pm. Good luck solo travelers.

Rude waiter. My husband and I went in for an evening meal. Told by the waiter we would have to be quick to decide what we wanted to eat as the kitchen would be closing in 10 minutes.. it was 8.35 pm. The waiter then showed us to our table with a lot of huffing and puffing and tutting! This restaurant adds a service charge to your bill, but that doesn’t stop the waiter hovering with the card machine pointing out the options for further tips before you realise its already added. Food was barely warm and they forgot the bread. Lovely dessert was the saving grace.

I strongly do not recommend this restaurant. My experience there was extremely disappointing. The portions were tiny, and the main waiter was rude, constantly more focused on making us leave quickly or order more than providing proper service.During our visit, a couple arrived and was told that if they wanted coffee, they couldn’t sit alone because all tables were reserved. This was clearly false, as only three tables were occupied, and it seemed the staff simply made this up to refuse service.After paying the bill, it started raining heavily. We stood under the restaurant’s umbrella, but the main waiter walked around with a look that clearly suggested we should leave immediately. He didn’t approach us himself—instead, he instructed the second waiter to start clearing tables and even said he needed to close the umbrella. Only at the very end did he come over, in an angry tone, telling us to leave so he could close the umbrella. He could have shown some basic human decency, especially in such heavy rain, but chose to act rude and impatient instead.The staff’s behavior was completely unacceptable. The attitude toward customers was dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I strongly advise against visiting this place—you will likely leave frustrated and mistreated.

While we didn’t stay at the hotel, we enjoyed a wonderful evening meal at the restaurant. We were seated promptly and menus were provided right away. We asked our server for advice about which foods and drinks represented Hungarian cuisine best. We loved the goulash stew and the cucumber salad with sour cream. Both were delicious and paired well with the local wine and beer he had suggested. The service was friendly and attentive and the cost very reasonable. I recommend this restaurant for a meal with a local and friendly feel.

We stopped by for a snack and a drink after exploring the Buda Castle area. We received a very warm welcome and were seated right away. The wait staff were all really friendly and attentive. We ordered a large bottle of water, which came with lemon slices and ice—refreshing! The beer and wine were enjoyable. The Hungarian Bistro Plate for two was exactly what we needed. It was served cold and included a variety of meats, spreads, pickles, and bread—all delicious. The restaurant was nice and clean, including the bathrooms. I’d definitely recommend stopping in for a meal if you’re nearby!

A lunch time meal. Two mature adults on holiday. we had the Breaded fried chicken and the paprika chicken. Bearded chicken was fab. Chips were good...Paprika chicken maybe not so good if I was being picky. Stella beer was great as was the local wine..staff were excellent..cost was a very reasonable just over €70. Just to finally add I very very rarely give a 5 star

Amazing restaurant! 🌟 Authentic vibe, super friendly staff and, most importantly, phenomenal food. The Barca pasta and seafood were outstanding, the espresso was perfect, and we even got a surprise limoncello on the house. A must-visit! Edit: I think I now understand the previous comments about the service, and I’ve also adjusted my rating. A 13% service charge is automatically added to the bill, but despite this, when paying by card the staff still ask for a tip. I find this practice a bit unfair, as the service charge is already included in the bill 🙂

A lovely experience while in Budapest. The food was excellent as was the service and atmosphere. Best meal I have had here. It was a very enjoyable experience.

In general the food was very good exluded the tomato soup that was much too thick. We didnt like the service, we asked for tap water and they insisted to serve us only a very expensive bottled water - kind of tourist traps. The location is great.

Excellent warm, upbeat and kind service. As the name suggests, the decor resembles a restaurant is tuscany. They serve roma style pizza. The food was somewhat salty, but that is generally true in hungary. The rib eye whilst cooked to ordered medium, it was chewy. The mushroom sauce was tasty. The others' food was tasty.

A fantastic Italian experience right here in Budapest! The seafood pasta was incredibly fresh and flavorful, a must-try. Loved the cozy, rustic atmosphere and the beautiful view from the window. Highly recommend Trattoria Toscana!!!!

Wonderful experience. Our server, Stefano, was very patient and answered all of our questions. We were early for our reservation but we're taken right in. The seafood pasta and cheese pizza were both delicious! The lemon cake was awesome as well. *UPDATE I read the reviews after dining at the restaurant. I had understood prior to my arrival that the service charge was an included tip. Our server told us that the service charge went to the restaurant and not to him and asked for a tip so we did add one. But now I read that he shouldn't have done that. Now I'm disappointed in the integrity of our server.

All dishes were tasty except one… the tomato soup was unbeatable and we didn’t touch it. Yet, they didn’t deduct it from the bill as they had to.

My friends found this place for pasta. You choose your noodle and then the sauce. Serving size is generous. The noodles were fresh. The mushroom sauce and vegetable sauce were ok, we wanted to experiment and not get a red sauce. The canolo was a tad sweeter than I prefer.

Great pasta and very well served (individual portions easily serve 2 people if you are not very hungry). The mushroom pasta was just amazing. The place is kinda small with a few tables, overall quiet and clean. You can choose from their fresh pastas at the counter and a source. Everything was nice and fresh. The place gets crowded easily so you need to go early.

This was fine. The wild mushrooms in my pasta seemed like they came from a can and didn't taste fresh. The ravioli was much better. The pasta itself tasted great!

Delicious pasta place The noodles were very chewy and tangy, definitely a well made pasta. I got the truffle and ricotta, and it was a match made in heaven with the four cheese sauce. Topped with a bit of cheese and pepper, it was an amazing meal. The wine was also a good touch to the meal, if I lived in Budapest I would visit more often!

Pasta itself was fantastic but the sauces we had were not that great. We had bolognese and amatriciana. Quality of pasta was superb though. Interior looks a bit come down but cool location overall.

I had dinner around 7pm, the restaurant was quite crowded but the staffs were very enthusiastic and quick. I tried Duck breast, it is very delicious and attractive. The restaurant location and space are great. I will introduce w my friends and I will definitely come back here next time to enjoy other dishes.

Really tasty food, good atmosphere and really kind anad friendly staff. We had the chicken paprikash and the hungarian goulash and it was great. They treated us to an cottage cheese amous bouch that was really tasty as well.

I had the goulash soup and a draft Soproni... 22 euro... the goulash felt thin. It had a shallow reminder of meat inside, the vegetables almost felt uncooked. Not great , not terrible but for me it didn't deserve the money. The restaurant looks nice, the presentation of the food is modern but it just didn't hit the spot for me. Service ok .

Very delicious and exquisite meal, at a very acceptable price! We were looking for food around Kalvin Ter and weren't fond of the food along the tourist street so we came here based on the glowing google reviews, and they weren't wrong at all! We had a very delectable meal consisting of the finest goose pate, beef tartare with bone marrow, spring vegetable soup, and pan seared duck liver for entrees, followed by a pan fried perch with asparagus and breaded veal trotter with parsley potatoes. Lastly we finished with coffees and lemonade. It was all extremely delicious, very well presented and the service was excellent as well. The decor and seating was lovely, comfortable and clean. Would highly recommend visiting if youre in the area.

An absolute gem. Situated in a peaceful square just behind the central market, this place is off the charts lovely. All the food is farm to table from the market daily, and it's delicious and authentic. Great wine options. The service is informal and charming. It’s real Hungarian food cooked with love and it’s a million miles from the horrible touristy restaurants just across the street in Fovam Ter. Very strongly recommended. Nagyon szepen köszönöm!

It’s one of the restaurants I’ve been going to for almost a decade, so was excited to see their concept upgrade and I was impressed. Dishes are even more refined while maintaining a traditional Hungarian cuisine. Looking forward to my next visit.

The dishes were good, yet the service was not satisfactory. We ordered goose liver as appetizer, pan-fried duck and goose leg as main dish. We also ordered two wines. First of all, the air conditioner was directly blowing to the table. I mentioned this to the waiter, yet the waiter did not even listen all of request and turned me down. Saying the air conditioning wind angle could not be changed. This was absurd. The wind not only gave us headache, but also made the dishes cold in a couple of minutes. This affected the whole experienced. Secondly, during the meal, an insect flew into the wine. We talked to the waiter and he just removed the insect from the wine and returned the glass of wine. Unfortunately part of the body was still remained in the wine. So I made another request to replace the wine and the waiter took the wine to the bar table, waited for a minute, and brought it back to us. May be it was some kind of cultural difference but I did not think this was a proper way to handle this situation in this kind of restaurant.

Let's just say that this is not a restaurant I have enjoyed dining in. We (as a group of 5 Asians) entered the restaurant around noon and were seated at the large round table next to the window. Since we are aware that our general appetite are less than the average European, we normally order slightly less and share together, and this has basically never been a problem. We decided for a kiskakukk plate (for two people), another main course, and four soups as appetizer. While ordering the (presumably) owner kept pushing on us to order more since he was adamant that "this definitely will be too little for 5 people". We stated that we want to be more conservative with estimating portion sizes to prevent wasting food, and that we will be more than happy to order more later if we find it suitable. After trying unsuccessfully to convince us several times, his attitude immediately shifted. All service after that were basically non existent. He simply half-threw the plates on our table when bringing them to us. When the main course is served, we asked if we could get an additional set of cutlery, and were initially refused since he insisted "the main course you ordered is only for three people". For the entire duration of our meal we felt like the owner expected us to order more since we were given the big table, and by us not ordering as much we are wasting his generosity. But at time the restaurant is basically empty, so it is not like we are occupying space for other peoples order and slowing their table turnover rate. However, just to be clear, this part is purely MY speculation. The food itself is actually pretty decent and the interior decoration and atmosphere is pretty cool, hence the second star. Absolutely is not worth the hassle of basically getting borderline abusive service, though.

One of the most enjoyable meals I have ever experienced. A menu that isn’t too complicated, full of Hungarian classics. I had the incredible duck breast and Potato gratin which was incredible. The cucumber salad was amazing, the meat sharing board has the most delicious Foire gras. The goulash soup is also delicious. The interior design is so cosy and fancy, just wonderful atmosphere. Everything is incredibly priced for the quality

I chose Nobu for a family dinner during our trip to Budapest. The restaurant is located inside the Kempinski Hotel and has a Michelin star, so we were excited to try it. In terms of ambiance and service, everything was spot on — the space is beautiful and the staff were attentive and professional throughout the evening. However, when it came to the food, I was a bit underwhelmed. As someone from Asia who has had sushi in Japan and countries known for fresh seafood, the sushi here just didn’t meet my expectations. It was more of a quick fix to satisfy my craving for Asian food than something I’d come back for. The other dishes — fish, scallops, and beef — were all just okay, nothing memorable. I had hoped for more, especially from a Michelin-starred restaurant. Considering the high price point, I was expecting fresher, more flavorful food. All in all, it was a nice experience, but not one I’d recommend purely for the food.

Although high end, this place is worth every penny. Excellent service, delicious food. Our waiter, Peter was so kind, well prepared and professional, he guided us through our journey during the evening. Thank you for this experience

The service was impressive, the atmosphere was quiet since one other table had occupants. That should have been a warning about how quickly the food sells or doesn't. I had ordered the Budapest lunch box, it was not at all what I had expected. The raw sushi felt tacky in my mouth like it had gone bad. I had never had that texture from sushi from anywhere. I tried everything the young server recommended. The sake was clean, the dessert was excellent and surprisingly good. The main dish should be re-examine before being sent out to customers. I expected better since I was told by a server that Nobu was Michelin. I would not recommend raw sushi here at Nobu in Budapest.

You can have the king crab and sea urchin in Budapest as inland, how impressive? The black cod, Chilean sea bass are outstanding, the grilled chicken and the tender steak are amazing! Unfortunately I can’t find my favourite sparkling sake mio, so sad. Good food, good service and good place, really recommend.

Nobu is without doubt my favourite restaurant in Budapest. While it does exist in many countries, for me personally it is the best in Budapest. The food is extremely tasty, well prepared and presented, just the right amount of filling, and honestly just perfect in every way. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, also accommodate to allergies very well. My favourite off the menu is definitely a Tuna tataki, their selection of sushi’s, and the dessert bento box. Have been going here for over 15 years now, and with no doubt will be going for another 15 and much longer. It’s a must go place when visiting Budapest, I really recommend.

Nobu Budapest has a great location and the décor is exactly what you’d expect from Nobu — stylish, modern, and very on-brand. The food was outstanding; the quality and taste matched any other Nobu I’ve visited. The reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is the service. Drinks took a long time both to arrive and to reorder, and unlike other Nobus, dishes were often just dropped at the table without any explanation — leaving us guessing what we were eating. A few dishes from our order were also missed entirely, which we had to chase up after they hadn’t been put through. One other note for diners: the kitchen closes quite early for a Friday (around 10:30pm). We were at a business dinner and took our time, but towards the end we felt rushed as service wound down. Overall, the food and setting were excellent, but the service didn’t live up to the usual Nobu standard.

Our visit to Nobu Budapest was spectacular, we sat at the bench looking into the kitchen and I would highly recommend this, you totally forget where you are and become part of an experience. We were extremely lucky that the chef stationed in front of us was Chef Tamas as he is what made our visit so amazing. He talked us through things and spoke with us all night, even tho he was was very busy, his food is art! , he made recommendations that were faultless with some extra special touches, he is simply one of the greatest chefs!! The lychee martini was delicious and service was impeccable, I celebrated my birthday here and can honestly say it was the best way to spend it, I highly recommend this place and hope you are as lucky to see Chef Tamas too !

A small but very warm and inviting restaurant. They don’t have a lot of food options but the options they do have are very well made and delicious. You can even draw on the paper tablecloth to satisfy your inner Picasso. They have one option for beer, which is a Czech beer. But theydo have many different options for wines. We’ve went there twice with 2 people and every dish we ordered had one of the most tender meat we’ve ever had. The service is fast and we got our meals within 30 minutes. The first time we went we ordered a bit more so we spent about 14k forint per person but the second time we only got a main dish with 4 drinks which totaled about 10k forint.

Cosy old family-owned restaurant. English menu available and spoken by staff. Atmosphere is great. Food was nothing special; the duck for instance was not seared properly and almost stale as this skin was not crispy at all. But overall experience is fine.

The restaurant is cute has good basic food to offer and i quite charming BUT if you are sound sensitive Id advise you against it since the staff watches movies behind the counter with pretty high volume. So while i was having my swordfish with spinach gnocchi battle scenes with swords clinging into one another and and roaring men stormed through the restaurant. Super annoying

We got here on a Friday evening and it was really really busy (usually a good sign) so I would recommend you book in advance. Luckily the weather was good and they were able to accommodate us outside. The staff were all really friendly and provided lovely service, including talking through different options on the menu with us. The food itself (we had starters and mains) was delicious. Everything was prepared and cooked well - some interesting flavours in the traditional dishes that we hadn't tried before but quite enjoyed. The plating was also really nice as you can see in the pictures. We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant as well! Would recommend.

We went there for dinner. I had the salmon pasta and bone marrow and a glass of red wine. I liked everything i ate. I only give 4 stars because my friends had the goulash and said it wasn't so tasty. From my perspective it was 5 stars, but from theirs wasn't so that's why the 4 stars.

Authentic Hungarian food away from tourists places. Loved this family owned 125 year old restaurant. We were seated in a very charming garden area. Food and service were delightful.

Ok so I won't exagerate here, but the food here was just on a different level. So perfectly cooked, the flavors so balanced. Textures amazing. It was a pleasure to taste it. Every dish was a different vibe, and all of them absolutely amazing. Regardless of what you choose, you will taste heaven. Super traditional, fair prices and with a typical hungarian music group. I got a violinist soloing with perfect skill in front of me. Super super skilled. Please come and try it out for yourself!

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch in late October here. Atmosphere/decor is really neat. Old world feel, expansive menu, great service (we are not bilingual, but they do have menus with English and from there you can communicate easily with the server). The restaurant is fairly large, multiple dinning rooms and seating areas. Lastly - this place was recommended to us by several different locals.

My friend and I came here on our first night in Budapest. The atmosphere was very lively (helped by the talented live musicians!) and it seemed that the restaurant’s clientele were mainly locals, so we were looking forward to an authentic Hungarian meal. The food itself was good, we had the goulash soup, chicken paprikash and cabbage rolls. These were definitely familiar flavours, and maybe our expectations were slightly different to what we actually ate, but overall it was a good introduction to Hungarian cuisine.

Wow so blown away by the food. Had the stuffed cabbage and it was delish!! Was so stuffed but decided to try dessert chestnut puree. It was a pleasant pleasant surprise. Service was delightful. Great meal to end a lovely trip to Hungary 🙂

Charming bistro with delicious food - a gourmet mashup of Jewish and Hungarian food. We stumbled upon this cafe accidentally and it turned out to be one of our favorite meals in Budapest. Matzo ball duck consumé soup and duck liver pate starters were delicious, as were our mains of lamb and pike. Dessert was an amazing chocolate baklava with cherry sauce. Overall highly recommend.

Hungarian-Jewish cuisine, in a beautiful restaurant with fantastic service. Big plus for a vegetarian tasting menu. Everything was perfect, our waiter was friendly and attentive. Even though I don’t like lasagna that much, I really enjoyed the Macesz’s version of it. Recommended!

It's definitely Michelin level, from food to service to environment. I had the most expensive dish, Goose thigh, with gizard, & I added duck liver. It’s a treat of a lifetime, even the base rice is so yummy.

Really cozy restaurant with friendly service and delicious local dishes. We tried the goulash, duck leg, and chicken paprikash, along with two glasses of wine — about €90 in total. Everything was fantastic, definitely worth a visit!

Amazing. Although they add 13% on top of the normal price. Don't worry about the queue - someone will approach you and suggest sitting outside. Then you can skip the queue.
