Prince's Island Park, located in the heart of Calgary, is a former sawmill site transformed into an urban oasis. It offers picnic areas, winding trails, and regular major events. The park features historical landmarks like the Deane House and River Cafe, as well as sculptures and art pieces. Visitors can enjoy recreational activities such as canoeing in summer and cross-country skiing in winter.
It's such a beautiful park. Flower arrangements were very creative. The trees are great. Kids' play structure is newer and a lot of fun. The new black squirrels were neat to see for the first time. Only down side was the men's washroom. Two of the toilets were completely disgusting. The place needs an upgrade badly.

Came here for Folk Fest and it did not disappoint! It is an amazing venue to hold such a popular festival. There are multiple stages with remarkably good sound systems and plenty of natural grass to sit on. The breeze from the river sure is welcome under the hot sun 🌞 There is a great big children's playground here that is quite popular. The benches around it are perfect for parents to sit at while letting their kids burn off their energy. In the Spring there are plenty of Canada geese that nest 🪺 and prepare their goslings for life outside the nest. With all of the natural beauty it is a great escape from the urban jungle just across the bridge.
John W — Google review
Super nice quiet park in the heart of downtown. Lots of space, large trees, benches, flower gardens. With the river on both sides it really is a quiet area. Everyone at the park is doing the same thing - just enjoying. Can be super busy on summer weekends or holidays. So bicycling can be a slow process because of the crowds!
Jon C — Google review
Excellent park with broad walkway, washrooms, great view of river and downtown, must visit this park if you are at peace bridge. You can even rent a neuron e bike/scooter to stroll around. Great place to spend a nice evening. Lots of picnic spots were available both shaded and unshaded. Public washrooms were at the River Cafe there is even a playground with lots of kids activity for kids to have fun. Highly recommended park in the heart of Calgary. Parking is mostly on streets on either side of the river. Check out the videos & imaged & follow for more detailed reviews.
Vids T — Google review
Nice park, not far from downtown Calgary if you're on foot. It was cold and windy when we went there, but the parked seemed nice nonetheless. We saw many squirrels and there are beautiful flowers everywhere. Also a good spot to take some pictures of Bow River, but in a sunny day it must be much nicer.
André M — Google review
I parked at the Crescent Heights scenic point and walked into the Prince’s Island Park via the connecting stairs. Pro: I did not need to worry about parking and could instead focus on how BEAUTIFUL the park was and how joyful the people were. Con: I had to walk up a gazillion stairs to get back to my car. Depending on your enthusiasm for cardio, this con can become your pro as I saw a bunch of people exercising by running up and down the stairs. I cannot relate. This may be an ignorant American viewpoint, but are Canadians just that much happier and healthier?? I went on a 2-mile (sorry I don’t know what that is in kilometers) walk around the park and not only did I see beautiful views, I also interacted with lovely people. There were many recreational enjoyers of the park and they took the time to look me in the eyes and smiled at me?? The camaraderie was off the charts. With that said, I feel for the homeowners who live right next to the park because they have to deal with very loud car pollution from the road (side facing Crescent Heights). While walking back to my car, I did have the thought that I should’ve brought my noise canceling headphones because it was so loud that I could not think. If the city of Calgary can invest in safer streets by converting that arterial road into bike and pedestrian paths instead, that would make the park experience that much better. It is my wishful thinking, and I think it could work since driving on that road didn’t seem all that stress-free either. It was clogged up with anxious drivers waiting to get the heck out of there, and it was where I heard the first loud horn during my stay in Canada.
Huong D — Google review
Nice place to take a stroll. It is nice to see the park under every different seasons. You will appreciate to sit on a bench and read a nice book while enjoying the scenery. There is a cafe situated in the park if you want to enjoy a hot beverage. Squirrels and ducks will be your companion in your journey.
Kim-Mai N — Google review
I visited this park during July end. The park is very beautiful and clean. The neighborhood is lovely. The park is on the banks of Bow River. Water is dark blue and looks very scenic. However, parking was limited. We went to the peace bridge, and even though it was under construction, the bridge looked beautiful.

Glenbow Museum, founded in 1966 by Eric Lafferty Harvie, is a prominent art and history museum in Canada. It houses an extensive collection of over 33,000 works dating back to the 19th century, featuring historical, modern, and contemporary pieces from North America. The museum also boasts the largest non-governmental research center in Canada for artists and historians.
A truly fascinating place to visit. The atmosphere here is unique — calm, inspiring, and full of history. Every corner seems to tell its own story, and the exhibits are displayed in a way that draws you in. I enjoyed spending my time here, wandering slowly and taking it all in. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back and explore it all over again.
Richard D — Google review
Such an interesting place to visit, lots of interesting things on display, and so much history to learn about. The permanent collections are quite good, but I also really enjoy the exhibits which change, as they it freshen things up. I recently learned about the extensive collections this museum actually holds, and I hope with the new place that they rotate more, as it’s really good to learn more about our history in Alberta, Canada, and the world.
Darryl S — Google review
Visited during their First Thursday of the Month free admission and it was really crowded but worth the visit! They have four floors with lots of exhibits like Calgary history, pre-historic time, Minerals, artifacts, collections and contemporary arts. It’s a good place to visit if you’re in Stephen Avenue area so you could get a little history about the city👌
Nomad_paul — Google review
Amazing art history museum! Beautiful exhibits highlighting deffoerent art mediums like pencil, paint and sculpture. Great inclusion of inuit and indigenous artists and culture. I especially loved the Mankind exhibit and the pencil art exhibit. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town and in mood to see some astounding art. Although, there is currently a huge renovation going on where the 3rd and 4th floors are closed, maybe even for while. Also, they need ticket reservations online with certain time slots.
Justina H — Google review
We were lucky as when we got to the museum they told us it was free for everyone! We thought it would be crowded, but it was not. There were plenty of people but did not feel uncomfortable, there was plenty of room for everyone to move around and look at the exhibitions. Warriors is one of our favorite exhibits. I have seen lots of armors before, but did not know how they made them, here we learned so much! Also the mineral exhibit is amazing, worthwhile visiting, kids loved it. Visiting the museum takes time, we could not see all of it, but are planning a second visit. This is a great museum!
Cristina A — Google review
Wonderful museum with always lots of exhibits to look around. I think it is because of a sponsor but every first Thursday of the month is free entry for everybody to have a look around the museum. As a student, this is a blessing. I was fortunate enough to look at the exhibit on the indigenous community of Canada (Alberta to be specific) named 'Niitsitapiisinni: Our Way of Life'. It was a beautiful exhibit and well put together too.
Priya L — Google review
The best museum I've been to. Some of the stands are interactive. Great source of inspiration. Seems somewhat modest when you come in but the moment I spoke to the receptionist I knew this was gonna be good. Very kind people willing to help you, guide you and, if you go on your own you don't miss a thing since everything is very intuitive. Highly recommended both as a personal experience as well as a group visit
W. N — Google review
The Genbow is and always has been an excellent museum. It is not huge but they do a great job with the space. There is always a visiting exhibit. Hands on exhibits and the regular exhibits. I had not been for a while and they really upgraded several of the exhibits. I also find that the price is very reasonable for a museum of this type. Definitely worth a visit.

Inglewood Bird Sanctuary, located in Calgary, is a peaceful haven for birds and people alike. Established over 80 years ago, it's a favorite spot for birdwatchers with 270 different species of birds recorded here. The sanctuary offers picnic facilities, walking trails through forests and open grasslands, an outdoor classroom, and a learning center. Visitors can also explore the fishing pond and learn about local wildlife at the Nature Centre.
Fantastic walk with the family, enjoying God's beautiful scenery. Small museum at the front, side gate on the side of the museum which allows access to the sanctuary. Birds, deer, porcupines, beavers have been seen here. Best time to go, in my opinion, is Fall! See photos.
L. S — Google review
We took a beautiful walk along the river, where we saw lots of wood ducks, magpies, northern flickers, two sharp shinned hawks and both a juvenile and adult bald eagle. There are benches along the trail that provide peaceful places to sit and watch the river flow by. This sanctuary is close to downtown Calgary with plenty of parking and a very nice visitor center with washrooms. I’d love to visit during the peak of spring and fall migration. I’m sure it’s teeming with birds then!
Janice C — Google review
Inglewood Bird Sanctuary in Calgary, Canada, is a delightful haven for nature enthusiasts and bird watchers alike. My visit was thoroughly enjoyable, as the sanctuary offered a serene and picturesque environment. The well-maintained trails are clearly marked, making it easy to navigate through the lush greenery and various habitats that attract a diverse array of bird species. The sanctuary is home to numerous bird species, and I was fortunate to spot several during my visit, including some rare finds. Each trail is designed to enhance the viewing experience, with strategically placed benches and viewing platforms that allow for unobstructed observation of the birds in their natural surroundings. The reception center is impressively designed, providing a welcoming atmosphere with a wealth of information about the sanctuary and its inhabitants. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, offering insights and answering questions with enthusiasm. The center also features clean and well-maintained washrooms, which are a much-appreciated convenience. Overall, Inglewood Bird Sanctuary is a gem in Calgary, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Whether you're a seasoned bird watcher or just looking for a tranquil place to enjoy nature, this sanctuary is well worth a visit. Highly recommended for its beautiful trails, abundant bird life, and excellent facilities.

It’s a nice place to visit with family and kids. My kiddo enjoyed the walk over those bridges and finding new birds. There is a small but beautiful museum through which we start the bird watching walk. It’s a free entry and with beautiful views and so many words.
Babbu K — Google review
Lovely area. Fairly large walking path with excellent bridges. Lots of birds, also ran into deer chasing a coyote which was exciting. Birds and thrills. The Colonel Walker House was a neat viewing, historical sight. Lots of nice river areas. In general a beautiful spot and hidden gem in Calgary. Must visit.
Jason S — Google review
Nice and quiet, close to downtown, sufficient parking area, free entrance fee, many benches and some tables with roof over head. A couple of looping routes to follow along (see map). Good spot for relaxing, walking, reading, and wild bird photography hobbyists.
Ly C — Google review
Perfect place for birdwatching and other river inhabitants. There are a lot of quiet corners where you can hide from city rush. In the enterece section, you can get acquainted with the current situation in a bird sanctuary and observe sculls of different animals.

Devonian Gardens is a lush indoor botanical garden nestled within the Toronto Dominion Square in Calgary, Alberta. This hidden gem features over 20,000 plants, meandering walkways, and a captivating sculpture court under a vast roof garden. Visitors can admire fishponds teeming with rainbow trout, koi carp, goldfish, and turtles while enjoying art exhibitions and performances.
Okay, this is not an extensive Botanical Garden, but it's still a lovely place, in the middle of a shopping center. They have a nice selection of different plants. Love the different textures and blooms. Signage is available to let you know what you are looking at. Some excellent spots for taking photos or selfies. The many people I saw, individuals, couples and families were all enjoying the chance to spend some time indoors (it was a little chilly outside) but still be in nature. Nice :)
Scott W — Google review
A really relaxing setting, I love it! Great to sit solo or with someone and catch up! I grabbed some food and a brew from the food court to the right of the gardens and then found a table within the gardens to eat and relax. The gardens are made up of water features, plants and usually fish in the deeper ponds too, however none this time. There is renovation work going on and has been for years one way or another as I was last here 8 years ago and the gardens were closed!
Jay M — Google review
A great little indoor oasis, good for an especially hot or rainy day. Sadly when we visited the koi pond was closed for renovations, but all of the beautiful plants and flowers and water features were enjoyable. Grab some grub at the food court nearby and soak in the ambience of the greenery.
Shannon B — Google review
Beautiful place to spend time. Whenever I come to shop at Simon's, I always stop in the gardens. The koi fish pond was closed due to renovations (sad) but they have updated it so much! Very relaxing atmosphere. Great little indoor park for small kids, very close to the food court. Sitting at the tables inside the gardens even though a public area, still felt very private. Always have a lovely time when I go!
Elisa V — Google review
A beautiful, peaceful spot in the heart of downtown ,perfect for lunch breaks or a quiet escape, especially on cold days. The greenery is lush, and seeing little sparrows fly around made it feel extra special. There’s also a small playground for kids. That said, a couple of things could be improved. The garden is located on the 4th floor of a mall, but there weren’t any clear signs or directions to find it ,I had trouble locating it, especially since I was in a bit of a rush. Also, the washrooms in the garden lacked basic supplies like hand soap and paper towels, which was disappointing. Still, a great place to unwind!
Hana — Google review
An absolute must visit, it's on the 4th floor of the CORE mall, an absolute oasis, just beautiful space, even a playground for the kids. Water features, endless spots with tables, eating areas. Great place to come to relax in indoor nature for free.
Elizabeth M — Google review
Beautiful space in the downtown core. Must visit. I went for an event, and explored the place. Plenty of places to sit, relax and for an informal meetings. A good place for visitors 😃. I guess it would be great to visit in winter 🥶 cold outside and warm tropic inside. Variety of plants.

Heritage Park, located in Calgary, is a captivating destination that showcases the rich tapestry of Western Canadian history. Spanning over 127 acres, this living heritage museum features the Heritage Park Historical Village, Gasoline Alley Museum, and Heritage Town Square. Visitors can immerse themselves in both indoor and outdoor experiences throughout the warmer months from May to Thanksgiving. The park comes alive with seasonal re-creations featuring actors who bring history to life through engaging performances.
A few months back our family had a wonderfully relaxing day at Heritage Park! It was the perfect spot to slow down, take in some history, and just enjoy being together. My 9-year-old son loved exploring the old-fashioned buildings, riding the vintage train, and seeing how people lived in the past. One of the highlights was the paddlewheel boat ride on the Glenmore Reservoir. It was such a peaceful experience, giving us beautiful views and a chance to just sit back and enjoy the moment. The staff throughout the park were friendly and knowledgeable, making history come to life in such a fun way. We also spent some time at the antique midway, where my son had a blast with the old-school rides. And of course, no visit would be complete without a stop at the bakery for some delicious homemade treats! Heritage Park is a great place for families looking for a mix of education and relaxation. It was a perfect day—no rushing, just enjoying the sights, sounds, and experiences of the past. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Nerissa ( — Google review
A fun, festive, and educational experience for everyone. The Park has an assortment of activities, rides, food, civic museums, and heritage architecture emphasizing the cultural significance of early Prairie settlement/life. It's like taking a step back in time, and it's worth every dollar. 11/10 do recommend.
Will F — Google review
Heritage Park in Calgary is a fantastic destination for a family outing. The park stands out for its welcoming policy on food and drinks, allowing visitors to bring their own and enjoy a picnic-like atmosphere—a rare perk that saves a lot on expenses compared to other parks where you can easily spend over $100 just on meals. Though tickets are on the pricier side at $36 for adults and $26 for kids, the experience is worth every penny. The park is meticulously managed, from parking to rides and everything in between. It’s incredibly clean, with free water fountains and spotless washrooms, ensuring a comfortable visit. Highly recommended for a day of fun and relaxation!
Abdul S — Google review
Really enjoyed coming here. It's like Disneyland, but better, because you can actually learn something about actual frontier life and how Alberta came about as opposed to some fantasized version of how things were. Plus, the Vaudevillian performances were really entertaining. There was something that happened, I don't want to go into the details, but I want to take a chance to thank the staff for handling the incident professionally and being very kind to me and my party.
龔振勝 — Google review
An absolutely wonderful place! The ticket price is well worth it, as it covers more than just a visit to a village—it's an immersive experience. During your visit, you'll watch over five short theater performances, each lasting at least 30 minutes, depicting the rich history of the area. The actors and actresses are incredibly talented, making the stories come to life. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and felt that one day isn't enough to fully appreciate everything this place has to offer. The staff members are all kind and helpful, providing excellent explanations about the site, especially the lady in the mine. You can begin your journey from the parking lot by taking a charming streetcar ride.Unfortunately, the gift shops didn’t have any magnets from this village, which was a bit disappointing.
Niki A — Google review
This is such a wonderful place to visit. Everyone here always makes sure that you are having a good time. Everyone is in costume and stays true to the character they are portraying. There is a steam engine train you can ride as well at the steam ship that goes out along the reservoir. There are tractor rides and horse-drawn wagon rides, all of which are free with admission. There are midway rides for people of all ages. The general store and ice cream shop sell delicious treats, and the bakery is always making fresh baked items for sale. Every exhibit is authentic and has a plaque to describe its original location. There is so much to do that you can easily spend a full day here and not see everything there is to see.
Amanda — Google review
I really enjoyed this place. Wow! If you have children, they will enjoy it as well. I recommend going on the steam locomotive at Shepard Station or riding the S.S. Moyie first (in the same area) then do the other after. After experiencing these attractions, wander the property. Cool off with a local brew at the Wainwright Hotel & Bar Room.
The T — Google review
Truly amazing experience! All employees were very friendly and welcoming. So much things to do and have fun. We were visiting Calgary for the first time and Heritage Park was the best part of the trip. My son had a blast riding a real steam train. All the family had great time.

It is an amazing 10-day event that takes place every year in July!! It contains fair food, rides, exhibitions, concessions, and so much more! The preferred mode of transport to get to this event would be the c-train as it is much easier to get to and from the grounds to. Parking is available around the grounds. However, it is usually very full/busy and expensive as well. Although it is a super busy venue to attend, there is always something for everyone to do. The kids love the fair games, winning prizes and riding the endless selection of rides. I have attended since I was a child with my family, and it is something I look forward to every year. A "Calgarian tradition" for sure. A great place to spend a day or a few, there's a vast availability of fair foods such as corn dogs, corn, ice cream, fries, lemonade, and so much more!

It could have been just the time of your but it was really difficult to get to this event. Many of the streets were closed. We could not get an Uber anywhere. Could not get taxis. The facility itself was decent inside with a good selection of food. The seeding in the stands a bit tight in places didn't appear. It was built with adults with semi-limited ability to get in and out of the area.

Stampede is awesome! Coming for 2 years now and loving it. Such amazing human energy, concerts, and multitude of things to do. Cows, tanks, food, drinks, music, cowboy hats, gotta love it.
Vasily R — Google review
The main advice for everyone coming next year: make sure to grab an event map at the entrance. There are many free activities besides the Rodeo, but you won’t find them easily if you don’t know where and when they take place. The Stampede is always crowded, but it’s not only about the Rodeo and food.
Маrina D — Google review
If you haven't been to the Calgary Stampede, you need to go, at least once. Billed as The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth you'll want to take in the music (Country of course), food, drinks, rodeo, midway rides, and don't miss the Grandstand Show. No expense spared for the best fireworks display I've seen to end the show. Food wagon options include what you may expect at a fair. Some creative combo's along with the expected, such as a smoked Turkey Leg. (a bit pricey at 33.00). Be prepared for line ups and crowds. Advance purchase of admission tickets eliminates at least 1 line. You'll have a great time if you take in some of this 10 day event, and don't forget your Cowboy hat!
Rudy E — Google review
Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth..actually. The rides were so much fun and the showcases in the BMO Centre were awesome. The food stands around the Stampede were amazing but were highly expensive. Getting here was so bad via CTrain, it is so crowded that they couldn’t let people in because it was packed. It was also crowded in Stampede Park of course due to the tourist influx and because it was first day. It was so much fun exploring every inch of the park, one must go to the stampede at least once every time. Would I go back? Definitely. 8/10.
Runnningshoesx42 — Google review
Had the best time at the stampede!!! It was one of the best Rodeo's ever!!! Sat in section 511 Row B and could see everything!
Ryan A — Google review
I loved the stampede! This was my first time attending, and it was wonderful! A little over crowded, and pricey but worth it in my eyes. You pay for what you get! We went to see what it was all about and had some food. We’ll be there again next year!

Fish Creek Provincial Park is a vast outdoor space with extensive hiking and biking trails, as well as a man-made lake and diverse wildlife. It's an ideal spot for birdwatching near major cities like Calgary and Edmonton, offering opportunities to see swans at Frank Lake or explore various parks in northern Alberta. Situated along Fish Creek, the park spans about 12 miles and is the largest of its kind in Canada. The Bebo Grove Loop within the park provides a tranquil 4.
Fish Creek Provincial Park is one of the largest urban parks in Canada, located in the southern part of Calgary. It spans over 13.5 square kilometers (5.2 square miles) and offers a mix of forested areas, open grasslands, and the winding Fish Creek, which flows into the Bow River.

We walked through the eastern half of the park, and it took a couple of hours. This part of the park consists of prairie landscape and some bushes near the Fish Creek river. It was a little bit monotonous, but we found a few interesting places. It'd be better if you came here with bicycles. I really want to explore more wild west parts of the park.
Artemii P — Google review
I found the variety of landscapes refreshing. There are quiet spots by the river perfect for reflection or even a picnic, and more open areas where you can feel the breeze and soak in the sun. Wildlife is abundant here, making it easy to spot birds, deer, and even the occasional beaver. For me, Fish Creek is more than just a park—it’s a place to relax, reset, and appreciate nature. If you’re in Calgary and looking for an outdoor adventure that doesn’t take you far from the city, this park is a must-visit!

Fish Creek Park truly has something for everyone. From swimming in the lake the hiking to walking, rollerblading to single track mountain biking. Bring the fam for a picnic and enjoy time at the creek on a warm night while the sun goes down. The facilities are modern and convenient, and access points are plentiful. The is a year round park and some lots close at night. Camping is not permitted. This is a provincial park within the city of Calgary. Lots of wildlife so enjoy and keep your best friends on their leash. Some pliéing in the winter months for bike commuters. A vast park with a bit of everything.

Fish Creek Provincial Park in Calgary is a natural gem, boasting expansive green spaces and numerous trails along the picturesque Fish Creek. Whether you're walking, cycling, or just enjoying a peaceful day in nature, the park offers a serene escape within the city. With diverse flora and fauna, it's a perfect spot for outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking a tranquil retreat.

Spending evening in the fish creek neighbourhood is just soothing. No amenities or shops in the area. It has large playgrounds, river bank, pond, scenic beauty and very less crowd m. It’s a nice spot to take an evening walk.
Juhi L — Google review
I have visited the Fish Creek Provincial Park three times in a month time; nevertheless, I have not yet explored it completely, for it is the second largest urban protected natural area in Canada that sprawls in an area of over 13.4 square kms. The enormous park provides picturesque natural scenes of forest area, grassy lands, lots of hills of various heights, creek, ponds, lakes, and over hundred trails and roads. I have yet to explore the southern side of the enormous park where Sikome Lake is situated. I intend to visit the park again to see some wild animals, birds, and the lake, soon. The park has more than 100 km paths of paved and unpaved trails as well as plenty of beaten paths for activities such as walking, jogging, running, cycling, ascending and descending hills, and capturing natural scenes of wildlife's flora and fauna. The creek that gives an impression of a mighty, long river is a prepossessing part of the park. There are some benches to relax and tables to enjoy picnic with your family and/or friends at several places and near the creek. Also, there are clean washrooms at different places in the park and along the creek. Today, for the fourth time, I visited the park. I went to the Sikome Lake which was way more beautiful and bigger than I had thought after seeing some of the pictures. Although there is an entry fee and a weekday, there were hundreds of people on a Wednesday evening. Had I not gone to the lake, I wouldn't have been able to see the extremely beautiful part of the park. Anyone visiting Calgary must add this park in their things to do in the beautiful city.

Olympic Plaza, a former venue for the 1988 Olympic Winter Games in Calgary, has been transformed into a vibrant park with a pond and an amphitheater. The plaza is particularly popular for its seasonal ice skating rink, which becomes enchanting at night when illuminated, especially during the holiday season with a Christmas tree on display.
This is a really nice public space. Enjoy it while is still available for the public. There are events every weekend on December but not skating rink this winter. It’s a great spot in the heart of downtown and it’s a shame that they will be close it in place of an extension of another building like don't we have buildings enough already?!

“A Magical First Theater Experience!” Attending my first theater performance was truly unforgettable. The ambiance was captivating, with the dim lighting and the sense of anticipation in the air. The performers were absolutely phenomenal—each expression, gesture, and word brought the story to life in a way I had never experienced before.

I’ve been a Calgarian since 2008, I was sort of sad to see Olympic Plaza is being replaced, but the nostalgia is short lived nice you see the new plans, if it turns out like the renderings look on the city of Calgary website, it’s going to be fantastic!!! (It’s worth mentioning I DONT have nostalgia for the old washrooms, mainly winter skating.

This is a fantastic public space. The events all summer, the skating rink in the winter. It’s a gorgeous spot in the heart of downtown and it’s a shame to hear they will be scrapping it in place of an extension of another building. Hopefully the plan for design somehow preserves some of this spot and doesn’t erase it entirely. This is a city that spent a fortune on a blue ring on the outskirts of town though so who knows. Hoping for the best!

A beautiful park next to the city hall with multiple events throughout the different seasons from gathering to show respect, concerts, art display to staking. This also allows for some landscape viewing in between busy downtown towers. Also next to LRT and convenient to visit. Recommended to visit at day time despite the crowed.

Pretty cool the city has a park dedicated to the Olympics. Some cuties boast that they will have hosted the Olympics three times, yet don't have any parks for her local constituents to enjoy. Honestly any city that plans on sending people to the Olympics should have Olympic-sized facilities for people to train in.

We were pleased that the rink was still open! Visited 3-17-24. ⛸️ Experience Calgary's Olympic Plaza Ice Rink: Nestled in the heart of downtown Calgary, this rink exudes a captivating charm that's hard to resist. We were pleased to find that the rink was still open, offering a unique sunny skating experience. Despite the warmth and a few puddles near the edges, the opportunity to skate comfortably in t-shirts was a refreshing surprise, adding to the allure of our visit. The sheer size of the rink struck me immediately, spanning over 17,000 square feet, offering ample space for skaters of all ages and skill levels. Surrounded by towering skyscrapers and framed by the majestic backdrop of the Calgary Tower, skating at Olympic Plaza provided unparalleled city views that were simply epic. It's a fantastic way to experience the vibrant spirit of Calgary while gliding across the ice. The facilities at the rink are top-notch, with rental skates available for those who don't have their own. There are also benches and seating areas where skaters can take a break and warm up with a hot beverage from the nearby concessions. One of the highlights of our visit was discovering the rich history behind the rink. As the site of the medal ceremonies during the 1988 Winter Olympics, the Olympic Plaza Ice Rink holds a special place in Calgary's sporting legacy. It's a testament to the city's enduring passion for winter sports and its commitment to fostering a vibrant community spirit. The groundhog wall was a hit with the kids, who gleefully posed with many of them, adding an extra layer of fun and whimsy to our outing. Overall, our experience at Calgary's Olympic Plaza Ice Rink was nothing short of enchanting. Whether you're a seasoned skater or just looking for a fun outing with friends and family, this iconic rink is a must-visit destination. With its picturesque setting, excellent facilities, warm hospitality, and sunny adventures, it's no wonder that the Olympic Plaza Ice Rink remains a beloved winter oasis in the heart of Calgary. 🇨🇦 @kidstravelCanada facebook for more kid friendly outings!

There are quite a few free events at this Plaza during summertime. Also, it is a good place for your kids to run around and have fun at the wading pool when it is filled. The same area transforms into a skating ring during winter. Just be aware that you may see impaired people around.

The Central Library, located in the East Village of Calgary, is a stunning architectural masterpiece that opened in late 2018. Designed by Snohetta and DIALOG architects, it boasts vaulted ceilings, abundant natural light, and unique features such as a steel beam time capsule and a mosaic made entirely of books. The building's facade is an ever-changing display of geometric shapes in various shades.
Came for the famous interior design. The space is large, making it easy to find a quiet corner to relax and read. Parents can bring their children to the kids’ section, and all the little ones seemed very happy. On the second floor, there is a giant chess set to play with. Walking through this building feels like an interesting journey of exploration. Unlike the overly serious atmosphere I imagined for a library, this place allows soft conversations, making the overall experience feel more relaxed and comfortable.

They use many wood and natural night to make the library looks bright and beautiful. Very spacious and comfortable. You can easily find a chair or sofa to enjoy your reading. No need to fight for a seat under pressure . A peaceful place that you don't want to leave.

This is the most amazing library I have ever been in. It was beautiful, inviting and functional. There was such a great variety of seating from casual bar top seating, to comfy chairs and couches, to single tables in quiet or private spaces, to bookable rooms. Also, most tables have plugs. I was in awe. We spent so much time here and it was so lovely. It left us feeling inspired. Thank you to the city of Calgary for creating such an amazing space. It is definitely worth a visit - even if you weren’t planning on taking a book out.

Nice little garden. Some flowers look dry probably have suffered from the recent water restrictions in Calgary. The parking lot is small. I liked the benches around the park where you can seat around the flowers. I would totally visit again!

Easily one of the most stunning and peaceful spots to visit in inner city Calgary in the summer time. An absolute must for plant and flower lovers. The space is very scenic and historic, next to a very beautiful and also historic Calgary cemetery. Also convenient being next to the stampede grounds.

Visited the location this time for an outdoor photo shoot. The photographer was great and had a good eye for creating a story. We paused the session a couple of times to watch the butterflies, appreciate some beautiful flowers in bloom and sit when we climbed up hill to get a particular (and well worth it) view. I liked the movable benches located in some areas, the calming sound of water flowing over rocks and the tiny signs describing either the plants or history of different areas in the park. I stayed behind after the session to enjoy the park a little more and came across some hikers and a couple that looked to be on a date.

Lovely little garden in inner city and it's FREE! It suggests an hour to walk through the entire grounds which is relatively accurate depending on how much time you sit and rest or scrutinize over the type of flowers planted. One reason we stopped here is it’s just unique. Accessed by a little bridge via a big bridge, it has a little pond (which is connected to the river) for the kids to splash in and throw rocks. My girls enjoyed the minnows nibbling their feet. It wasn’t busy on a weekday but not quiet either, lots of families with their kids as well as people biking by. It also has a few picnic tables and lots of seating. Scenic and lovely place. Although the water was a bit gunky I believe it was because the water level is low, once it rises a lot of that will be washed away.

Calm and relaxing park away from too much people (mostly they are in Prince’s Island Park) There’s a pond where you can have a picnic, chill on a blanket, throw stones on the water or just look at the calm canopy of trees. Shopping Malls
Stephen Avenue Walk is a vibrant pedestrian street in Calgary, offering a mix of art, dining, shopping, and entertainment options. The area seamlessly connects the city's Arts District, Financial District, and Shopping District along a historic street lined with both early 20th-century sandstone buildings and modern glass office towers. During the bustling noon hour, thousands of downtown workers flock to the avenue for what locals call 'The Power Hour,' using their lunch break to explore the diverse offerings.
This is a wonderful walking street right in the heart of downtown Calgary. There are so many restaurants, coffee shops, and bars to choose from, many of them are good! It's very safe, a lot of police presence and very popular. Great thing to experience in Calgary!
William C — Google review
It is always architecturally interesting to blend old buildings with newer glass skyscrapers and add a touch of originality with these metal structures. It sure is nice to look at it. Though, in 2014, there were too many homeless people and visibly ones with mental health/drug issues, just like in Edmonton tbh. It means constantly having to pay attention instead of focusing on what you came for.
Stanislas T — Google review
Stephen Avenue Walk is a lively pedestrian street in downtown Calgary with a nice mix of restaurants, shops, patios, and historic buildings. It’s great for a casual stroll, people-watching, or grabbing a bite to eat. The architecture adds charm, especially the heritage facades alongside modern towers. That said, some areas feel a bit quieter outside peak hours, and not every stretch is equally vibrant. Still, it’s one of the best spots in the city to experience Calgary’s downtown energy.
Vishaka P — Google review
This street in downtown Calgary is actually quite beautiful, with nice architecture and a lively vibe. Unfortunately, the large number of homeless people really takes away from the experience. It didn’t feel very safe or comfortable walking around. I found myself too anxious to enjoy the area and ended up leaving much earlier than planned. It’s a shame because the street has potential. With better security and support for the area, it could be great. For now, I wouldn’t recommend spending too much time here.
Eva Z — Google review
I really enjoyed spending an afternoon on Stephen Avenue — it’s the perfect mix of Calgary’s history and lively urban vibe. The beautiful old sandstone buildings, historic facades, and all the unique shops and patios make it feel full of character. There’s so much to see and do here — you’ll find cozy cafés, casual pubs, nice sit-down restaurants, and lots of patios that come alive in the summer. I loved grabbing a coffee at one of the local roasters, browsing in the boutique stores, and just people-watching. There’s also plenty of public art and interesting sculptures along the street, plus buskers and street performers that add to the atmosphere. If you feel like exploring more, you can pop into the Devonian Gardens inside the CORE Shopping Centre — a beautiful indoor green space right downtown. Nearby, you’ve got the Glenbow Museum, Olympic Plaza, and historic spots like the Palace Theatre if you want to dive deeper into Calgary’s culture. The street really comes alive during events and festivals too — there’s always something happening. It’s super walkable and safe during the day, and it’s a great place to relax, grab a drink, or just enjoy Calgary’s downtown energy. If you’re visiting the city, don’t miss a stroll down Stephen Avenue — it’s one of the best ways to get a feel for Calgary’s local charm!
Hamid B — Google review
I very much liked the street. It has good restaurants, bars and coffee shops. You would walk and enjoy the crowd, and sight of people having chats and fun. I highly recommend it.
Nina J — Google review
Really nice walk on this street while restaurants around. In the evening with lights and other stuff it gives undoubtedly mesmerizing look. But to keep in mind the thing that this place is in downtown where the problem of vagrants is so much. I went to this place with my family and two vagrants scared my kids and I came back. Place is good but it needs proper security arrangements to keep the visitors safe.
Karan S — Google review
We came in the summer - I’m not sure what I was expecting from Calgary, but this exceeded my expectations. What a fun, vibrant and happening city! This is a young person downtown so if you are young or young at heart, you should come check it out! A lot of bars, people, music, overall - great vibes. This was a really fun place to walk around and experience. You can even try on and purchase some cowboy gear! And there are art installations everywhere! The downtown reminds me of Montreal or Vegas - lot of great people watching and it’s a bit like a party. Just be careful walking around - scooters and bikes are on the sidewalk and often going quickly. I’m not sure why they are all in the sidewalk but that’s something to be aware of.

Bowness Park has always been our favorite Fall spot. It's so beautiful that we keep coming back every year to do our yearly fall photos. It's also a great park during summer as there is a waterpark free for kids. Also, lots of people enjoy the bow river rafting with their own rafts or rental. Some people actually go swimming too, although I'm sure the water will be too cold. Winter is also beautiful as people can ice skate along the park. You can do a walking/biking loop trail from here to Baker Park, which is very easy. You will have to pass a nice bridge that connects the river. Path is open all season. There is also a path at the end (close to the green bridge) going up to the community residential area. People walk or even bike going up there. It is now fully developed. There is a lot of squirrel in the area, which is a treat for the kids. If you need to get drinks, there's a small shop that sells beverages, which is great, especially during the winter season. I love this park as it's very spacious and has a lot to offer. Also summer time if you get lucky, there's a guy that plays music and collects donations for a few charities.

Went there with family, it was the best! Everyone enjoyed the peaceful bow river. Took a long walk and it was 100% worth it. BUT BRING SUNSCREEN AND BUG SPRAY! There are lots of mosquitoes in the season I went, so be prepared! Raft rental available! We went up a ramp and followed a trail. MUST GO ON THAT WALK! there are stairs too if you prefer. A little park with flowers and cute bear statue too! Brings back memories when I went as a kid!!!

Great place to walk around, go for a picnic and BBQ if living in Calgary! There is a boathouse as well at a very reasonable price! You can book your picnic sites by calling 311. During the fall season the views are splendid, you can do fall photography at the best here. There is a cute tiny rail for the toy train as well. Benches, picnic tables are available all around the park. You can also bring your own portable stove and cook at any available picnic table. If you are booking picnic sites then you have your own shed and fire pit to enjoy

The view there was really mesmerizing and one of the best place to witness sunset near Riverside and also a great place. Can calm your mind and also has a damn scenery in fall.

A park where you can experience a splendid summer. Despite recent issues, it's still a beautiful neighborhood. If I lived here, I would be so happy. I should come back for a barbecue later. Walking along the quiet paths, it felt like happiness would stay by my side forever. It's a great place to enjoy the leisure of everyday life. It has a different atmosphere from Bow River.

My favourite park in the city tied with Prince's Island! It's very pretty and a great place to come for a picnic, BBQ, with a boat, or just to hangout near the Bow river. I run here and it's always nice to see people having fun and existing. Great place for kids too, as there's plenty of playground areas, and even a little train for them to ride!

Bowness Park is a delightful oasis in Calgary, offering a blend of natural beauty and recreational amenities. The lagoon is perfect for paddle boating in the summer, and the park's walking paths provide scenic views year-round. With picnic areas, playgrounds, and a charming tea house, it's a fantastic destination for families, nature lovers, and anyone seeking a peaceful day by the water.

The Esker Foundation, established in 2012 by Jim and Susan Hill, is a vibrant contemporary art gallery that plays a pivotal role in Calgary's cultural landscape. This privately funded space aims to bridge the gap between the public and contemporary art through thoughtfully curated exhibitions and engaging educational programs. With its main exhibition area located on the fourth floor, visitors can explore an array of innovative artworks while also enjoying the dynamic Project Space at street level.
Free gallery with lots to see! The exhibits are thoughtful and you can spend so much time reading through. There’s free 90 minute parking too if you validate. Such a sweet spot.

So much to see in this beautiful space and that too FOR FREE. Sweet lady at reception. Thoughtful work by Babak Golkar and Caroline Monnet. Descriptions made me understand the beautiful artpieces. Their themes and meanings ⭐️ The wall dedicated to young artists made it more special.

Amazing FREE museum with FREE parking underground in the back. Lots of modern art pieces and many pieces located throughout the building as well. Well worth a visit.

Esker Foundation is such a gem in the city! Easy to find and perk of underground parking nearby. The exhibitions are always thoughtfully curated and deeply meaningful — you can tell a lot of care goes into the selections. Their kids’ workshops are top notch, engaging, and wonderfully run. A must-visit for both art lovers and families!

This place is unbelievable!! My daughter and I came here after seeing an advertisement on the street, and I am so glad that we did. There were free exhibits that allowed us to have quality bonding time! While forming these lifelong memories, we were also able to inspire my daughter's natural love for art, as she is an artist herself. I love this place, and we are hoping to check out the Fall exhibit once it releases! Thank you to everyone who contributes to the display of these masterpieces.

Simply the best! Thoughtful, interesting range of exhibitions and programs. Wonderfully kind and knowledgeable staff. A must visit (again and again) for out-of-towners and southern Alberta residents alike!

I really enjoyed my visit here. The exhibition was interesting and different. I especially liked the piece about guano - I learned something new. It is worth a visit to this gallery if you're in the area. It is small and didn't take long to look around. It is located on the 4th floor, there is a lift or stairs. There are public toilets inside the building. Best of all it is FREE!

I was there for 10 minutes. I was shouted at by the girl on the PA system for being too close to the art, which was uncalled for. (meanwhile there are others actually touching the art). I was simply trying to read the description on the wall. I won't bother returning or recommending.

The YouthLink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre is a modern facility that offers an immersive experience into the world of law enforcement and true crime. Visitors can explore exhibits on police work, participate in interactive forensic activities, and even witness live demonstrations of police dogs in action. The center also features adult-only exhibits showcasing real evidence and photos from criminal cases, making it a compelling destination for true crime enthusiasts.
Absolutely blown away by our visit to YouthLink Calgary! This interactive museum is an incredible space to explore the world of policing, forensics, technology and the brave lives of officers and their K9 partners. We spent nearly three hours taking in every detail—it’s that immersive! The real-life stories of officers and their fight against crime were powerful and inspiring. Huge thanks to the two wonderful seniors who were there to guide and assist us—they made the experience even more meaningful. Easily one of the most informative and engaging places we’ve visited. Highly recommended!

Definitely would recommend it if you got kids/teens but likewise good for adults too. Being an interpretive museum you get to learn the history and also give it a try at how things work. I also liked that they have additional activity clipboards and markers for kids to make it more interesting for them. My teens who were not really keen on visiting a museum, were having fun trying or solving the activities. We were visiting from UK and popped over straight from the airport. We only had cabin bags which we were allowed to store while we explored the museum but am not sure if that applies for the bigger luggage. It is totally free or you can leave a donation so good if you are looking for a free or cheap thing to do with kids.

Very cool place. When we arrived I was asked if I wanted a quick introduction, I was shown where the washrooms were and general layout. We were given two different scavenger hunts to participate in. These kept my 8yo engaged and curious. Displays were ready to follow and engaging both visually and physically. You can flip through pages, press buttons, choose video clips and get things on.

Great place! I went with my son 11 and he loved it. We scheduled for 3pm and they closed at 4pm and I regret not scheduling earlier because one hour is not enough! We’re planning on going back because we still had some things left to explore. 💙❤️💙❤️

What a great place for youth and parents! Provides youth relevant information that really opens up great conversations with your children about issues such as drugs, crime, gangs, etc.

My kid and I had a good time visiting. I'd say kids from 6 and up would enjoy the center the most. It's a blend of interactive activities and going through the exhibits. It did a good job teaching kids and visitors of different aspects of police work (K9, firearms, uniforms, etc.). We will likely visit again. If you are not sure where to take the kids on a rainy day, this is a good alternative for a fun, education, and inspirational trip. Just beware that it closes on Sundays.

First time visiting the Calgary Police Museum and it was fantastic. There was so much to see and read. The kids loved sitting on a police motorcycle and in a police vehicle and turning on the lights. The scavenger hunt and the videos were fun. The officers brought out 2 police dogs in training Jojo and Cali and we didn't want to leave. We will definitely go again soon.

Wow, I had no idea this place existed. I took my 5 year old during the Alberta Teacher’s strike. Unfortunately, we only had an hour to check it out - which certainly wasn’t enough time. We will definitely need to come back. The fingerprinting activity was really fun, the exhibits were very hands on, and the content was easy to make relevant for my kid. FYI, they don’t open the gate to the parking lot until 10:00 when they open. Our tickets were at 10:00, so we were a little confused as we figured out where to park.

This was my seventh or eighth visit but my first time for The National and first time purely as a spectator. As always, there was top show jumping, beautiful immaculate grounds, free parking. The ticket prices are affordable, too. We had a great day out. Will be back again. Happy 50th Spruce Meadows and thank you!

I met some Brits in the hot tub of my hotel & they told me they are in town to do "horse jumping" at Spruce Meadows. I've never heard of that, so I went to check it out. From the parking lot attendants, to tickets, to ushers, everyone was welcoming, warm & friendly! Parking was free, admission was $25, it's clean, has beautiful decor, ample shopping & places to eat, two rings to see shows. I saw my hotel friends at the international ring. Got to see the "musical ride" from the Canadian Mounted Police. See 2 main competitions and it was wonderful! 50th Anniversary, and the 'Masters". I got to see the world Blacksmith competition make horse shoes. At the end see the English Royal Guards, a military band, play at the final ceremony! This was a picture perfect day! To my hot tub pals, it was a pleasure to see you perform! I highly recommend you give this a try! Love everything about this place! ❤️

My review of "The Masters" at Spruce Meadows. It was a fantastic family fun day with so much to see and do. The highlight for us was definitely the kids' area. The face painting, button making, petting zoo, and bounce house were a real treat for my toddler, and she absolutely loved it. She also had a blast watching the dogs on the obstacle course and, of course, enjoyed all the delicious food and treats available throughout the grounds. The train ride was a bit underwhelming for the adults, as it was a little hard to see and had to stop to avoid scaring the horses, but it was nice to see a few horses in their stalls and get a close-up view.

The Peace Bridge in Calgary is a modern, striking red pedestrian and bike bridge designed by renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. It has become an iconic symbol of the city's urban landscape and is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. The bridge offers engaging views of downtown's modern architecture, Princes Island, and the new St. Patrick's Island. Visitors can also enjoy nearby attractions such as Princes Island Park, where they can have a picnic lunch or relax at the playground.
July 2025 5* Peace bridge is one of the recommended place if you are visiting Calgary. It is located in downtown along the beautiful park. The view was really nice in the evening. There is nice sitting area around the bridge and some shop if you are feeling hungry. You can walk around and also go to the Prince Island Park. It’s very is perfect for picnic spot and relaxation. The river flow is amazing. You can do fishing.

Peace Bridge is an absolute gem that deserves every bit of praise! Walking across this iconic bridge is such a unique experience—you get stunning panoramic views of the water and the surrounding skyline, making it perfect for photos or just soaking in the scenery. The bridge itself is beautifully designed and incredibly well-maintained, giving a sense of calm and safety as you stroll along. What makes it truly special is the atmosphere—you can feel the peaceful vibe that inspired its name. Whether you’re visiting for a short walk, some sightseeing, or just to enjoy a moment of tranquility, it’s the perfect spot. I also loved how accessible it is and how easy it is to combine with nearby attractions for a full day of exploring. If you’re in the area, don’t miss out on Peace Bridge—it’s one of those places that leaves a lasting impression and makes you appreciate the simple beauty of a well-loved landmark. Definitely a 5-star experience!

The peace bridge was wonderful! The only downfall was trying to figure out at the time of night that we were there was where we were supposed to be parked, and at what times that you had to pay to park. The signs were very confusing on that aspect. Other than that, it was a very beautiful, very nice Experience!

Glad to have stopped by this bridge. Access is a bit of chore from the north end but it’s easy enough to find. The bridge is nicely divided for bikes and pedestrians so crossing isn’t hazardous. Nice views of the city and the river. Quiet and peaceful this time of the year.

I had a wonderful experience visiting the Peace Bridge. The day was sunny, and the calm river flowing beneath created such a relaxing atmosphere. I spotted ducks on one side and geese on the other, adding to the charm of the place. It’s a perfect spot for a peaceful walk, surrounded by nature, yet just steps away from downtown Calgary.

I recently visited Piece Bridge, and overall, it was a very pleasant experience. •The bridge provides lovely views of the surrounding area, especially at sunrise and sunset. It’s a nice spot for taking photos or simply pausing to appreciate the landscape. •Design & Structure: The architecture is simple but elegant. The clean lines and sturdy construction make it both attractive and reliable. •The bridge is easy to access, with smooth walking surfaces suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. •The area is well-maintained, and there wasn’t much litter.

It's a bridge that connects one side to the other. Very walkable area with tails. If you're lucky enough during the summer, you might come across festivals/activities happening around the area. I came across the Expo Latino festival and the India Independence Day celebration. It was cool to take pictures

A must see in Calgary! 🤩 ❗️Be careful of the bike lanes in the middle of the bridge. So many people walk on them and it’s very dangerous. On the other side of the bridge there is a construction going on, so the access is restricted. The neighbor around is very calm, with lots of flowers. 🌺 🌸 🌹

This venue has been here for decades. It’s been an important and iconic building ingrained into to the culture of Calgary. But I recently learned that a new venue is going to be built next to it and therefore demolished there after. Kind of sad really but that is life. We have to keep building destroying and building. In any case it’s a nice looking venue. 👍😎
Yodaman S — Google review
A disappointment, we got to the venue it was mismanaged, prices where we'll ok i know things are expensive but really just about 9$ for a slice of pizza 73, 15$ for a coolers beer, wow I now know why your province thinks its an unfair world. The sound quality of apocalyptica was a 5, I am going to assume it will get worse, and yes I can compare them to the other 12 times seeing them..... Lindsay sterling was great except for the sound, like maybe some proper techs? Maybe check with me next time during a sound check because you butchered this young ladies set. Why are there not the same sound problems with halestorm???? Hmmm seems like you intentionally messed with Lindsay's quality.....

It was tough eing an Edmonton Oilers fan and being in there .. haha since its enemy territory but had to see Lainey Wilson and she made it worth it. We had some great seats for the venue. Seats were comfy compared to other arenas we have been to. It was near impossible to get an Uber or cab after the event and had to walk a few blocks away from the choas to get back to our hotel.

A piece of Calgary history… Went to the Lynyrd Skynyrd show, fabulous time. Beer was cold, pretzel was hot, show was great. It’s what you make it!!!
Sarch L — Google review
The upper seats are actually great with a nice view so no issues there. But there are two big screens that don’t work, they’re just bright blue the entire time. According to the people sitting around me they haven’t worked for years. It’s super distracting and adds to the overall neglected feel of the place. On top of that there are so many empty seats down by the rink which really kills the energy. Why not move the fans who are actually passionate about the Flames down closer to give the team some real support? The whole experience feels like it’s running on autopilot.

Came here for the Calgary Flames 2024 season opening night game. It's an older venue and the seats are only separated into two levels/bowls, so all seats have a relatively good view of the ice. Bathrooms are not big, so there's a wait time for intermissions. Good venue for hockey games!

Flowing from the Canadian Rockies, the Bow River is a popular choice for paddlers of all skill levels. With Class II rapids and 587 kilometers of water to explore, it offers a picturesque setting to spend a weekend enjoying Alberta's natural beauty. The river also boasts numerous campsites along its banks, particularly near Calgary in Southern Alberta. Renowned for its blue ribbon waters, the Bow River attracts fly fishermen from around the world with its abundant rainbow and brown trout population.
We were heading to Lake Louise and saw this Lake from the Parkway. The color was quite amazing so we made a few stops along the way. We were thoroughly enjoying the Canadian Rockies as they are magnificent. The peaks of Mt. Rundle and Mt. Cascade, part of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, dominate its skyline.

The center also provides stunning views of the city and opportunities for romantic moments in downtown Calgary.
Attended the Mother's Day Brunch, and it was terrific. There was a great spread with tons of options for the whole family. Very delicious. There were activities for the kids inside the room, allowing us to enjoy our meal while live shows entertained them. We also loved the photo booth and bead bracelet station. We'll do this again next year.

This is around my 3rd time going to Telus Spark and my thoughts are now Confirmed, I had went to the Infinity Dome, The Snack Shop, and others! The Snack Shop had some cool stuff to eat but some were a bit… overpriced. But the movie, Me and my Friend-group went to watch Hazelnuts (A 25 Minute Animated Show) Then we explored the Areas (I had initially forgotten the category names) We tried the Bed with nails (It was more uncomfortable than Scary, My friend said “I did it with out the pillow do not recommend”) They also have a Sensory test, where they have you taste gummy bears and ask you questions on what you taste! And there was a Booth where you take photos! (Doesn’t Print it out) but since I don’t remember if it has a name or not, I’ll be calling it the “Digital Photo Machine”

Visited on a Friday. Despite some good reviews, not worth the cost. So many of the activities and exhibits were "closed for repair " or simply closed with no explanation. (Photos of some of many that were closed. The VR zone sould have been open when we were there. We were told it was closed and summarily dismissed. ) Plenty of staff around who were uninterested in engaging with clients. The displays that were functional were unimpressive. The cafeteria wouldn't serve us at 2pm although it said it was open until 3pm. The toilets were filthy. The toddler toilet was "closed for repair". Handicap buttons for doors were worn so that identification paint wasn't visible. Doubtful this place could pass a fire inspection. I recommend the zoo or Heritage Park or Bell Media Centre. This place needs an overhaul of its management, board of directors, and basic priorities.

We had such a fantastic time at the Telus Spark Science Centre! This place is truly a five-star experience, thoughtfully designed with something for everyone, regardless of age or ability. It's the perfect blend of a science center and a children's museum, making it ideal for toddlers and young kids. The Creative Kids Museum was a definite highlight. It felt like a traditional children's museum with all the climbing spaces and water feature area you'd expect, but with a clever scientific twist. We especially loved the simple machines with adjustable ramps and the building tubes. They even had a soft play area for non-walkers, which was a huge plus. We also really enjoyed the opportunity to use a tool to cut cardboard—it was a unique and engaging activity. Even though a few spaces were closed for updates, we honestly didn't feel like we were missing a thing. There was still so much to see and do that we didn't get to explore everything! We saw a live demonstration and got to work in Steven's Lab, a hands-on opportunity to tinker and form scientific hypotheses. There was so much to do, I actually felt bad having to pull my daughter away to try and see as much as we could before nap time. The outdoor space was another highlight. It offered a great chance for kids to run, jump, and explore in a different environment. We went on a great day—it wasn't packed, though I imagine it might be during holidays or later in the school year with school trips. I even declared to my husband that if we lived in Calgary, I would get a membership. There is just so much to see and do here that it's worth coming back for again and again. Overall, Telus Spark is a must-visit. It's an incredibly well-designed space that seamlessly combines fun and learning.

Seems to have a lot of very outdated areas and ideas. Could make this centre so much more interesting and engaging. It was pretty much boring chaos. Telus spend some money on this centre ! Make it fun and more relevant. Wld not go back or bring out of town visitors. They do have a few interesting areas but Very expensive for a subpar experience. So many kids touching everything which is great but few sanitizing stations. Bring your own. Some instructions difficult to figure out or area is too basic to be interesting or learn something or too complex with no assistance or the area is not working at all. The computer 'take apart ' area had no small tools to take them apart only 3 huge screwdrivers that fit nothing. No instruction of what to do or what the parts were. Kids were prying and stabbing at the boards with the large screwdrivers! The whole area was a disaster of pieces. Several other areas were out of order. The welding kept jumping back to the computer to reload. Staff not available to help reset. VR had one person setting up for 4 ppl. It took at least 5 min to attached everything and prob 5 to take away items after, sanitize them and get next group for a experience that was 3 min long. Such a long wait >45 min for a 3 min experience. Did see a show. It was OK. Theatre itself is nice. The robodog was the hit. Bed of nails and the toilet. 3 things really. Disappointing for the cost for 2 people. Yes parking is 12$ no choices. Not walkable from the LRT. Wanted it to be fun 😏

Calaway Park is a seasonal amusement park located in Western Canada, offering over 30 rides, stage shows, a 3D theatre, and midway games. It has been providing affordable and family-friendly entertainment for more than thirty years. The park's one-pay gate system allows unlimited access to rides, attractions, live shows, and street performers like stilt walkers and jugglers.
Calaway Park is a fantastic family destination! I've visited multiple times with my wife and our kids (ages 6 and 3), and each trip has been a joy. While some rides are age-specific and not suitable for younger children, there's still plenty to enjoy. The atmosphere is vibrant, the staff are friendly, and the park offers a wholesome experience for all ages. From gentle rides to engaging shows and play areas, our kids were entertained throughout. It's a great spot for creating lasting family memories. We will definitely be back!

Great amusement park for kids and parents/families, and lots of stuff for teens too. So many rides toddlers can go on if they are tall enough. Even when the parking is packed it is not too big of a wait for a lot of the smaller rides. The water rides are a long wait and close an hour before closing time. Lots of bathrooms around. Lots of food options. Shaved ice and pineapple dole whip is vegan. Cool Halloween vibes when summer season is over. Decorated all throughout the park.

Coming into the parking lot, everyone was parking to the left as it looks like they are building something on the right. They have lots of people waving you in telling you where to park. They have many booths to pay for your tickets as you go in. I do recommend buying your ticket online before going in. When you went to the park you can go to the left or to the right. I recommend going to the roller coaster first. The lineups can get quite long. The roller coaster and the log ride usually get the longest lines. The staff is very friendly and the park is very clean. I do find the water is expensive there so bring your own water to drink. They do have an area with lots of picnic tables for you to have a lunch. I have a 2 year old and he could go on about nine rides. When my daughter was 9 she could go on every single ride. Overall I do like this park. I do believe it is time to add some new rides. We went September 14th and they had Halloween days starting. They had parades and they had people dressed up everywhere.
Stephanie M — Google review
The park is great, especially for kids and probably some teenagers up to around 14 years old. There are lots of fun rides for children, bright swings, and a Parade of Fairy-Tale Characters (they were handing out delicious candies). We also bought some food — the fries were very tasty. There are small lines for the restrooms. We’ll definitely visit this place again!

I visited Calaway Park and had a fantastic time! The park was spotless, the staff were super friendly, and the atmosphere was full of energy. It’s clearly a perfect spot for families—so many smiling kids and parents enjoying the day. Whether you’re with a group or on your own, it’s a fun, well-run park that’s worth the visit!

IF YOU WANT A GREAT PLACE TO TAKE THE WHOLE FAMILY, THIS IS IT! Amazing experience! They have rides for kids rides for adults, add rides for really small kids as well! There are lineups and that long. The most We ever waited was about half an hour. It is $52 to get in the dollars to get in the door if you are 13 to 65 years of age.
Christine G — Google review
Great value. Lots of rides and activities for my 5 and 7 year old kids. Did not have to wait more than 5-10 minutes for the rides. We would come back for sure. We liked the magic show.
Dave T — Google review
Fun lil park. Definitely for kids - we had fun for maybe 2 hours and that’s all there is to do as an adult. It’s closer to Calgary - the only perk. There were some rides that charge you additional $2-$5 on top of the entry ticket. Haunted house was a joke. Extremely long queues. Overpriced snacks and drinks. Meh! If you want to visit on a weekend, plan ahead cos parking is going to take you a long time.

Edworthy Park is a serene natural oasis located along the Bow River in Calgary. It offers various amenities such as trails, fire pits, BBQ areas, playgrounds, and off-leash dog zones. The park is home to the famous Douglas Fir Trail, a 2.5 km path that winds through dense woods and showcases impressive Douglas-fir trees and diverse wildlife.
Is your dog wound up and in need of some exercise? Edworthy Park is the perfect spot to let em unwind! It’s my go-to off-leash dog walking destination in the city. The people are friendly, the dogs are happy, and the views are stunning. At times, it feels like you’re miles away from the city, especially on the east side of the park among the trees. You can park in the first lot as you enter and enjoy pathways that extend all the way to the third parking lot. If you prefer not to stick to pathways, the main area usually has plenty of dogs for yours to socialize with. The only drawback? There are no washrooms! So if nature calls, just remember: it’s not just your dog that might need to answer!

It's a huge park, but the area our GPS took us seemed like it took forever/ was convoluted. Lots of open space. We seemed to be at the off leash dog park, which was fine because we love dogs. But we didn't have our furry friend with us at the time. Lots of paths and such. No paved areas. There were several benches in one area to have a rest. Beautiful view of parts of the city, especially with fall colour's.

Very nice place to visit, relax, take a walk, hike, bike or go with a group have picnics, barbecues and have a superb time. The Bow river flows bordering the park, which is absolutely great to get our feet wet, have a nice dip in hot weather and such. 😊 Very family friendly, must visit atleast once. The place is accessible by transit, has goo connectivity to bike paths and is right next to major roads. Recommend it for sure! 😃
Rakshit B — Google review
Edworthy Park is an enormous picnic place with plenty of open and covered picnic areas, tables, children play grounds, a lot of unending paved and unpaved trails, and huge parking areas on either side of the river that is accessible by an over bridge on foot or by bicycles. In order to park my car on the other side of the river, I had to take a long route; I followed the phone GPS. The popular picnic spot has hygienic, well- maintained washrooms and a cafeteria to cater to the needs of the visitors. A very energetic, exhilarating, and mesmerizing place for people of all ages and kinds.
Bharat S — Google review
Spend splendid time with kids here and we loved the place. However it’s a busy place on weekends and difficult to find car parking slots near the railway crossing area. Peculiarly of the park is there are hills, cycling paths, kids play areas, many trees so we will get enough shades , good for gathering party, one railway line where trains often run, many washrooms, and moreover we can get into the bow river.
Anitha J — Google review
I was really impressed with this park. I have lived in Calgary for about 25 years but never came to this park for some reason. It's right on the Bow River, has lots of picnic sites and there are fields to play sports in. I hiked the Douglas Fir Trail and it was wonderful. If you go to Edworthy Park, definitely consider trying this trail. Note: it is not an easy hike and not very safe for kids since some parts are fairly steep/slippery. P.S. - Bring bug spray for the warmer months.

It nice yellowish view during fall. You can park here and ride a bike a long the bow river path to downtown. There are plenty of children playground and picnic area.

Great park offering everything from trails in the woods, paved trails, along the water, children's areas, picnic areas with fire pits. Walking along the south side you can go almost 6km! A great gem in the middle of the city. Highly recommended to check out as all the locals know how great it is.

Pub
"The Ship & Anchor" is a laid-back pub in Calgary that offers casual bar food, live music, and sports on TV. It's a favorite spot for the city's rock-and-roll crowd, featuring live soccer, punk rock bingo, and occasional DJ sets. The pub boasts an extensive selection of local and imported beers on tap and serves classic pub dishes like nachos and chicken wings.
Was quite good. Establishment Sky Rocket was my favorite. It was recommended by the person manning the pub. The fries were super fresh and the beers were great.

Back in my day, living and working in Calgary this would be my go to place. Such a fun patio and great beer and food. What I liked about it the best was the outdoor seating during the summer where you would share a table with strangers and strike up a conversation that was the highlight for me. 👍😎
Yodaman S — Google review
Dive/Pub with according food options. Poutine was not good - cheese was not melted, fries too salty. Chicken tenders too dry. Came here to watch hockey game, but disappointed how small the TVs were… also hidden in corners - impossible to watch sitting at the bar
Anton S — Google review
Great spot to grab drinks or stop by while bar hopping on the weekend. They offer a wide selection of drinks, including plenty from local breweries. The atmosphere is lively, with a young and energetic crowd that makes the place feel vibrant and social. It’s also a great place to meet new people, and the live bands on the weekend keep the energy high. Perfect for a fun night out!

Food was delicious, service was excellent and the interior was really cool looking. If you're looking for good pub style food, this is it! They also have a good drink menu. Our group ordered Nachos, Burgers, Fish&Chips, pizza and more. They were all very good!

We went bc a friend's recommendation and it was worth it. We had some beers and tried the poutine, which was delicious, crunchy chips and super tasty. There is gluten free beer.
Leonor B — Google review
First of all, happy hour is long, cheap and awesome! Second of all, lots of their menu items are gluten free and dairy free. Plus their menu is clearly marked. Special mention…the fish and chips, the calamari and the tuna pole bowl were top notch. Highly recommend. Worth knowing…..smoking happens within distance of the patio. Not great if you want to avoid smoke smell. Also worth knowing that the 17th Ave strip has lots of noise pollution from vehicles who love to rev up their engines to be cool. It’s really annoying and wrecks the atmosphere of the many great patios on the strip.

My favourite bar in Calgary- a welcoming and casual atmosphere, with great food and drink, staff that clearly love their job, and a clientele that love this place too. The Ship and Anchor is a Calgary legend, especially if you love punk rock, divey bars that are clean, and a solid community presence. I love to visit for Punk Rock Bingo night, but also just to enjoy the patio when the weather is nice. It’s always my first thought of where to go when we’re going out.

We love this huge park! You can have a walk and enjoy the beautiful view, ride a bike, have a picnic, and so much more. It is so well maintained and has access to public washrooms. We recently visited this park to enjoy the Monster Colour 5k event and it was a great experience. We love to visit this park during Fall season, as the colors are amazing! 🍁🍂😌 Easy parking!

Just OMG! It’s a hidden gem of the city, where you can have access to breathtaking views just for FREE! LOTS of free parking lots, resting bench viewing the mountains and the river! I wanted to stay here more and watch the northern lights but the gray weather didn’t allow me to go through this experience 😞 the picnic area is beautiful and a hot spot for family event photo shoots! Definitely will be coming back here again when coming to Calgary!

Seriously, a gem! Great walking and biking paths. No swimming allowed. Kayaking, canoeing, sailing etc. Is allowed however - no air filled boats/kayaks allowed. Excellent bird watching opportunities and youth might see the odd deer too.

My recent park visit, with a focus on biking, was a fantastic experience. Glenmore Park (North & South) offers a cyclist’s paradise with its well-paved trails and scenic routes. The combination of lush greenery with touches of fall colour and well-maintained paths made for an exhilarating ride. Whether you’re an avid cyclist or just looking for some outdoor adventure, Glenmore Park provides the perfect setting. I highly recommend bringing your bike and exploring this beautiful park for a day of two-wheeled fun and nature appreciation.

Nice park. They have bbqs and some covered tables. Great for families or friends get togethers. Very nice area to run and enjoy nature as well. You can enjoy the view of the river. As you walk by you can read on signs about the different types of birds in the area and if you look closer you might even see those species. It is indeed a nice park. From time to time you will see police cars checking the area for safety, which is nice. The few times I have been there it has been clean and very well maintained.

Very beautiful park. Clean open spaces with swing set area for kids. Places to hang out and make a fire or have a pick-nick. Nice spot to meditate and take on the views. As of June 2018, some big parts are closed off for construction and repaving of path. I am sure it will soon be better than ever! Would recommend a visit.

The park also features tennis courts, a sports field, lawn bowling, and a natural playground. Additionally, it is popular for winter tobogganing.
The parking lot has a clean washroom nearby. 25 min walk until Rideau Park Pedestrian bridge. Large lawns. Playground. Table tennis. Some barbecue and picnic along the skating rink area (which has its own parking lot)

The park is very large, provides a perfect opportunity to witness the beautiful foliage, if you go in the autumn. In addition to the walking paths and the bike route circling the park by the sea, the scenery is self-evident. If you have the time, I highly recommend coming here for a half-day stroll and taking in the beauty of Vancouver. This time, I rented a bike to go around the park, and the ocean view and the beautiful maple leaves created a picturesque scene. After cycling around, I not only didn't feel tired, but my body and mind were very relaxed. One thing to note is that when cycling, whether stopping or starting, please be mindful of whether there are people behind you!

I recently visited Stanley Park and had a fantastic experience! One of the highlights was its proximity to the river, which provided beautiful scenic views and a serene atmosphere for a relaxing day out. The park also offers excellent amenities, including well-maintained tennis courts and an inviting outdoor pool. The $6 fee for access is quite reasonable considering the quality and range of facilities available. Overall, Stanley Park is a wonderful place for outdoor activities and enjoying nature. Highly recommended!

Great park in the heart of Calgary very scenic and calm. On weekend there can be a lot of people and hard to find parking but otherwise there is lots of free parking. There is a river which can be used like lazy river and a great spot for kids to get in water as its shallow and the playground is in front of it which has all that kids will need. There is a baseball court, tennis court, swimming pool and garden. There are even two table tennis tables free to use. There is a nice green trail for walking. Over all great place to spend a nice evening. Highly recommended. Check out videos and follow for more.

This is a beautiful park along the elbow river. It has an outdoor pool in the summer months. The parking is free but can get a little diffucult to find. There are amazing flower gardens and sometimes an ice cream truck in the parking lot. Many people come here to picnic in the park or go for a leisurely tube ride in the river.
James W — Google review
It was a great experience visiting this park today. It's full of trees and flowers, but I don't think that they are taking care of trees and plants here as I hope so, but maybe because it's fall. The park is huge, but with few seats only, so it's a better place for walking and jogging rather than sitting and enjoying a meal. Too many families come here to enjoy their time, and I recommend it to everyone.

Ralph Klein Park & Environmental Education Centre is a man-made wetland park in Calgary, situated near the iconic Canadian Rockies. Spanning nearly 75 acres, it features outdoor sculptures, play equipment, and a sleek event venue. The park serves as an artificial wetland designed to enhance stormwater quality before it enters the Bow River system. Visitors can enjoy a picnic area, community orchard with various fruit tree varieties, walking paths with views of the wetlands, and indoor spaces for different functions.
A great outdoors experience. The park has many pathways, and water level platforms for the littles and large to enjoy nature. The play area includes a large climbing structure, along with many wooden apparatus for the kids to test their agility on, as well as a zip line. The kids really enjoyed discovering bugs and seeing the birds at this park. No dogs allowed in the park.
Jody A — Google review
The park seems a little bit isolated with a chance that you might feel that the GPS took you to the wrong place (the entrance is unpaved). Nonetheless, it is very quiet but I would not call it a full-fledge park. A nice little waterways around (lots of nice little ducks), a very modest trails and a sense of garden (people were picking up apples). The building is my fav part and it seems well-maintained. It is great for families as its playground is one of the best around. So if you have kids, it should be your next destination. Worth the try! And, yeah, no dogs are allowed.

This place has a really cool playground and has nice views of the wetlands. There are walking paths and indoor space for different functions as well. I came here with my kids and they had fun on the little zip line and climbing on the structures.

Nice park playground, Picnic area, Lots of benches all through the park and Hiking is fairly easy. Park surrounded by the industrial area and farms so once in awhile you will be saying what the hell is that smell other than that it's great for bird photography. Note these pictures are to give you perspective on what the park looks like.
Brian C — Google review
It's a nice small park, with a small play area and cycle path. It's not dog-friendly though, and theres not much shaded area to keep out of the sun.
Nico B — Google review
The playground is a whole lot of fun! It's a natural playground so there are lots of things to climb on, in, and around. But all of that pales in comparison to the zip line! It's a nice long line that gets a bit of speed as the kids (and, ahem, adults) cruise down the line. At the very end of the line it stops suddenly so be prepared. There are some great riding/walking trails, lots of different bird species to see, and apples to pick as well. We really enjoy this little Oasis (and the zip line).
Jen M — Google review
I had no idea this was here! Great playground, friendly staff inside wetlands building. Lots of bugs but no one was bitten. Looking forward to spotting wildlife and bringkng our bikes to check out the paths. Zipline and sandbox made this park incredible for the kids.

Google Maps misdirected to wrong spot. It's actually the left before the one suggested by the maps. Visited this place during their Winterfest - It was a good outing given that there were good activities for kids. Inside the building there are lot of informational tools. Liked the word/poem making game on the wall. Nice decoration inside too. Drive is also very pleasant. Close to McKenzie Town/New Brighton/Prestwick.

Loved the gardens. Because of the beautiful warm weather well into September, the gardens are still breathtaking. The volunteers do an amazing job keeping that place lovely for all of us. Great garden space, great pathways and a fun place to walk your dogs! It’s nice to have a pathway to walk and flowers to look at while you walk your dog. Especially off leash! I only came in the fall and winter, but both times have been fun. Even in the fall there were some flowers to see!! Great walking path, probably 30-45 mins to walk from the beginning to end and back again with average walking pace. If you stop and smell the flowers, it’ll take longer ;) In the winter, it can be a little slippery! Watch out for icy bits on the inclines (small hills). Also, the path isn’t paved, it’s mulch/wood chip, so wear the right shoes! Dog owners and just fellow walkers are so nice and welcoming. I like coming here because I can come with both dogs, one on leash and the other off. I can’t really do it at enclosed dog parks with both dogs, so I always end up leaving the one at home, this is a great option to take them both out. FYI, not fenced, near a big road and near an alleyway.

I was surprised how big it is. The flowers are cute and diverse. I loved their sunflower garden. There are plenty of dogs (off-leash) so the environment is very welcoming. The parking slot is of a reasonable size and they have signs to show you were you are at and what to expect. I would totally recommend it.

Art museum
Non-profit organization
Contemporary Calgary is a must-visit art gallery in the city, showcasing modern and contemporary artworks from local, national, and international artists. Housed in a unique Brutalist-style building that was once a planetarium, the gallery offers diverse arts programming including workshops, panels, films, and more. It also features a big domed ceiling theatre space used for various events. The gallery frequently hosts rotating exhibitions and special events such as the Beakerhead art and activations.
A unique building with great exhibit spaces and a really accessible and friendly staff. The building is a work of art in itself. There are unique curved lines and textures throughout. The exhibit areas are very well suited to installations of various kinds. The exhibits are topical and provocative. The staff enhances your time with the pieces and gives the right amount of check ins. Both visits recently to the museum I found the staff to be extremely helpful and really engaging. I had the pleasure of talking with staff member Jade who was so passionate and knowledgeable. I observed her on two different occasions in the exhibit space and saw how she greeted guests and offered openers for conversation if desired. I spoke with her about the art pieces and their relationship to our current cultural climate. She was genuine and insightful. She is a true asset to the museum. The year membership is only double the single admission fee and well worth it. I plan to return again and again.

This museum is at the last stop of the free zone of the electric train making it easy to get to. The building is, as you would imagine contemporary with open rounded walkways, a dome, and several enclosed areas for exhibits. Don't miss the hummingbird exhibit where you can lie on bean bags and take in Life from the perspective of a hummingbird. The gift shop while small has interesting offerings.

I had great experience there. I went there with my camp so I didn’t purchase any tickets or pay any money for that, so can’t tell for sure if the prices are reasonable or not! The museum is unusual cause it’s not only art, as if pictures, there’s so much more. We were welcomed by the stuff and had a great tour leading by one of them, I don’t remember the name of this lady but she was truly awesome!!!

5 stars because I love spaces like this. I went to see an Iranian film and I appreciated it even more after reading some analysis at home. One of the staff also made a thoughtful comment about the current situation in Iran, which really meant a lot. On the flip side, June Clark’s Witness didn’t do much for me—felt pretty unoriginal.
Saba A — Google review
When I visited, three shows were on display, but none left a lasting impression. Perhaps I just wasn’t lucky that day. That said, the space itself is quite impressive. I’d definitely consider returning if something intriguing is on.

Date night, with my wife. The kids are with the babysitters. Let's check out the Contemporary Calgary Art Center. My wife knows I love local artists and support various artworks I find in the world in my travels. Parking, great at $2. Front Desk Lady, great, informative, and pleasant. We had not been in the building since Body Works was on the then Science Center: Spark. It hits the feels. There were three "exhibits." I use the term loosely. At the time, I hadn't realized I had angered some god, and this was my punishment. We walked to the center of the building. Large plastic antacid tablets littered the 2nd floor. A very pleasant staffer told us where the art exhibits were. The art exhibits were carefully hidden inside the labyrinth of the building. The first installation was a meditation room where one could lay on a bean bag chair and see what life was like through the eyes of a hummingbird. The narration reminded me of the slow cadence of a person on a ridiculous amount of opium, not personal experience, just adjacent to me, thereby allowing me to make an accurate comparison. The second sign something was awry, the hummingbird was in a constant survival mode where if it doesn't eat it dies. I suppose it's a true statement, but one could apply it to almost any living animal. The video was shot in Super 8. Third issue. The editing and visual representation was horrid. I have no idea if it's accurate to actual hummingbird vision. I googled "what the world looks like through a hummingbirds eyes." According to Google, hummingbirds see more colors than humans and have greater detail in focus. The Super 8 movie looked like it was edited by someone on qualudes. Next. We went through a hallway with great artwork from Grade 12 students. It was decent notably the on artist using a 3rd motif. The audio visual installation was, and I'm quoting here, " edited by someone who had discovered Microsoft paint and a freeware video editor on the internet." The only thought it provoked was the origin of my name (means from the Roman God of War, Mars, or Ares if you follow the Greek Pantheon). Final installation. The feature artist is June Clark. In her own admission, her work is derivative of other artists. There is no trace of originality at all. It was awful. The work seemed a cry for help to escape the banality of her own mediocrity. Would I pay money again for this? No, it is an awful art installation with little, currently left to redeem it. My heart and mind pine for the future that it could be amazing. All isn't lost. The one artwork I found cool is the light pole patrons have chosen to self decorate and add their entrance stickers to make a visually interesting changing community artwork. Best part that it is in front of the gallery, and it's free. Posted below from 4 angles that a rank amateur like me thought were cool.

We had a wonderful time at Contemporary Calgary. While they were in between exhibits, the three running exhibits were very interesting and thought provoking. While they are happy to let guests explore on their own, the staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable if you want some additional information about some of the artists or pieces, or want to know about the space or upcoming events. The best part is admission is extremely affordable at $12, and a membership is only $24! They even have free admission the first Thursday of every month. I'm very grateful that Calgary has accessible art spaces like CC.

The contemporary calgary gallery is an amazing place to challenge yourself and gather inspiration from other artists. Events are frequently offered from First Thursday where the gallery is free in the evening hours and has fun offerings to Kid's workshops. I thoroughly enjoy the guided gallery tours where you are given the opportunity to see and hear the creative process from the artist's perspective. I also love the frequently changing gallery offerings a minumum of four times a year that gives you the opportunity to be immersed and engaged with all varieties of artistic styles and modalities. By far one of my favorite places to be!

Provincial park
Fish Creek Park stands as the sole provincial park within the city and ranks as Canada's second largest urban park. Encompassing 80 km of versatile pathways through expansive forests and grasslands, it offers a picturesque setting for outdoor enthusiasts. Notably, the Bebo Grove Loop is among its most scenic trails, tracing Fish Creek's course from the western edge to its convergence with the Bow River in the east.

Taste of Yemen offers a spacious interior where you can enjoy a variety of Yemeni dishes such as beef kabsa, lamb or chicken akdah, stews, moofa fish, barbecue options, and fried chicken. The menu also includes creative drinks like milkshakes in 11 flavors, smoothies, and cocktails. While the food is undeniably delicious with each dish offering enjoyable flavors and generous portions at reasonable prices, some concerns have been raised about the customer service aspect.
Phenomenal food, so yummy and tasty! The staff was very friendly, and our server Natalie was amazing and very helpful and nice answering all of our questions and she made great recommendations as well - we loved everything she suggested. We loved everything we tried, but the lamb soup was especially delicious Definitely must try the Lamb Mandi, the mango smoothie and the lamb soup.

Our party of 8 ordered the Heart Attack Platter (lamb, chicken, and beef with rice) and the Chicken Madhbi. Combined, it was just enough meat for 8 people, with lots of rice leftover. The meat was tender and well-cooked, with the lamb especially being soft and easy to pull off the bone. The meat was very flavourful, while the rice (kabsa) was okay - not bad, but definitely not memorable either. It worked as a base and didn't stand out. Alyx, our server, was very kind and warm. Despite our large group, she was on top of everything, accommodating for us and making sure we had everything we needed and coming to check periodically even when it got busy. She's obviously very good at her job - I got that vibe from all of the staff we interacted with, speaking as a former kitchen worker myself. When I go there again, I'll ask for Alyx if she's there - she uplifted the whole experience. We also got tea and kunafeh, which was decent. Not life-changing, but definitely solid and worth trying. The soft, tender meat and especially the lamb was the highlight for me, though.

Got recommendation from a friend to explore this place and it wasn’t disappointing. The space is beautiful, everything looks brand new, and it’s perfect for large groups. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch from start to finish. We had the best time and will definitely be back for future celebrations. Highly recommend!

We heard great things about this restaurant so ended up trying it out. I would have to give the service a 1 star, probably would give it lower if I could as it was very poor, had to wait at least 20 mins to be seated, people who came after us got tables before us. Asked for some water but never got it. They didn’t give us the complimentary soups either. That being said we ordered the Kabsa and the Fahsa and both were delicious so I’d rate the food highly.

Went for our first time during Thanksgiving Weekend, it was so good! Make a reservation online if you plan on coming as they get very busy. We will be back!

We had such a great experience at Taste of Yemen! We ordered the full chicken mandi and pistachio kunafa — both were absolutely delicious. Our server, Fatima, was very courteous and friendly, always checking on us throughout the meal. The service was fast, and the food brought back memories of our favorite restaurant in Dubai that was owned by a Yemeni couple. It truly felt like being transported back there. Highly recommend!

Stampede Park in Calgary is a top international tourist destination, attracting over four million visitors annually. It's renowned for hosting the famous Calgary Stampede and a variety of sports events, concerts, and trade shows. The park features several facilities including the Saddledome and Corral, the Big Four Building, a casino, and the Stampede Grandstand. Accessible by light rail, it offers diverse entertainment options for both locals and tourists.
If you are from Calgary or Canada and want to know more about Alberta/Calgary/Canada and its deep spirit, you must visit stampede. People do often make mistake that stampede is only for rides, foods and rodeo but do visit all the gallery dedicated to canadians and what is made of Canada. You will get to know about agriculture, farming and their produces. You will able to see RCMP, horse parade, horse stable and how they are treated, their foods etc. These animals are one of the best treated in the world. Few tips and tricks : 1. Try to use free days entry. There are almost 5 days when you can enter free to stampede park. I always pick Sunday and Tuesday/Wednesday. Make sure you check the timing for free entry. 2. Bring few water bottle and you can refill at water station. There are plenty of water station. Make sure you are well hydrated. 3. Apply sunscreen and keep repeating each after 3 hours. 4. Bring hat(a cowboy one, just kidding) to keep yourself cool. You can cover your face and body if your skin is sun burn prone. 7. You can take a trolly to take all your belonging. You can even take home coocked food if you do not want to pay 12-15 dollar for a slice of pizza or a simple hotdog. 8. During daytime try to maximize your stay inside BMO center as it is AC enabled and has ample place to take rest or a quick nap. Everything is open almost till midnight, so you will not miss much. 9. you can take salt supplymentary to make to body mineral balanced. 10. Take some shower in the water spray area to keep your body cool. 11. If you are entering on free days make sure you start your journey well ahead of time otherwise you might not enter in free timeslot. Everyone wants a free entry and roads get busier. If you think this post is useful, please like my comments. If you have suggestion, question, please do post here.

The rides prices have increased in the last few years since Covid. One ride can be $10 if you don’t buy a bigger ticket pack. You can get a wristband with all day access for $60 which is probably worth it if you plan to spend all day at the fair. Fireworks go off at 10:50PM best view area is in the children zone. We rode the Ferris wheel right at 10:50PM and got the most amazing views. The main act at the Coca Cola stage usually start at 9:45-10PM. The area can get pretty crowded. We arrived at the grounds pretty late around 8PM which did not allow for much time to do rides and concert. We did not get to see all the animals. Would recommend at least 6 hours at the fair. Lots of food options, some have longer lines than others. We got pizza, popcorn, lemonade, fried oreo, and poutine. Good bathrooms in the stadium building and near the Coca Cola stage. If you leave right after the fireworks there are lots of crowds. Consider walking a few blocks before getting an uber. There are also designated blocks for uber pick up which are a bit away from the gate.

This needs to be on everyone's bucket list to do at least once. The street parade before the stampede shows is free and very cosmopolitan and well worth the watch. Then head on down for the stampede itself and the spectacular evening show.

Nice event this year! One thing I’d suggest improving is how the event schedules are communicated. It would be helpful to have screens showing real-time updates for the events you want to attend. I was using the printed schedule available at the info booth, but some events didn’t match the posted times, and a few were even canceled. I ended up wasting time that I could’ve spent enjoying other attractions. Other than that, everything was great! The festive atmosphere could be felt throughout the city, and the pancakes were awesome.

The Calgary Stampede this year felt overwhelmingly crowded, making the experience less enjoyable for many attendees. The lines for rides were excessively long, often requiring waits up to an hour or more. Additionally, ride prices have noticeably increased compared to previous years.

This venue has previously hosted impressive shows like Rise Against. While some visitors found the food overpriced and too spicy, others appreciated the atmosphere for big events.
Came here to see rise against which was an amazing show. Went to get food and had the pork bites. Way over priced and way too spicy. Would've been nice to have some chairs closer to the stage but we can't always get what we want. I look forward to the next event!

Large venue which can be split into two rooms. 12 dollars for a small beer is crazy. Not enough toilets for the amount of people there.
Alex M — Google review
I bought 2 tickets to the Sunday July 14 concert to hopefully secure a seat for my girlfriend and I. When we got to the venue we were told we didn't need tickets, it was free. I spent $83.50 for the tickets we didn't need( ripoff #1) then to add insult to injury, they want $10.50 for a regular beer, and $12.00 for a highball ( ripoff #2) . I realize this is during stampede but do they have to gouge people that much?. This is one of the biggest ripoff I have seen in a while
Stephen W — Google review
Wow this place is horrendous. There is no reason for a show attended by people 40+ to be this loud. I can't even hear the music, it's just noise. I feel bad for the bands because I expect they're quite skilled but no one would know.
Charlotte W — Google review
Went for a concert, got there when doors opened. Ended up taking like 2 hours to get in to see the show (even though I got there on time), so I missed the first bands entire set and half the second bands set too.. not to mention we had to wait outside in the cold for half of it! Staff seemed very disorganized honestly. They were chaotically rushing to get out wristbands after long enough when they realized how slow the lines were moving. Hoping I never have to go there for a concert again honestly. The only thing that made it worth while was getting to see one of my favourite bands and support them.
Shannon — Google review
Attended the much-anticipated Launch Party and was blindsided by the parking situation. I was charged a whopping $18 for the evening with no prior warning about the cost. There were no visible price indications until I actually arrived near the booth, which left me with little choice but to pay the exorbitant fee. While the event itself was enjoyable, the parking price definitely put a damper on the experience. Visitors, be prepared for steep parking fees or consider alternative transportation options.
George K — Google review
Good venue for a big event. I thought it was humorous that they tried to sell Budweiser beer to a crowd of Alberta Conservatives on election night. Not much uptake.
Dr. N — Google review
No fault of the bands tonight, but event didn't have enough security or something to get the crowd inside between doors opening and show beginning. Doors were at 5pm. We were there at 5 and didn't get inside until 6:30pm. We missed the opening acts which were one of the main reasons we went. This venue should be offering refunds or facing a class action due to their incompetence.

There’s no shortage of vendors but if you don’t like crowds, this isn’t the place for you. It was so busy last night - I found it hard to stop and “look” at the products. You either had to wait in a line or peek over people’s shoulders. I was constantly running into folks while shuffle through the crowd, not to mention the parking was a mess. Very terrible experience here, the manager is very unprofessional and always wanted to pick fights with me. I will consider the manager here a bully and a really nasty person. I paid my dues and cause no problems yet just because I was friends with somebody who used to rent a locker there that he didn’t like he kicked me out. Ended up losing some of my stuff in the process and at a time where he really needed a storage locker he took that away for me. Even though I paid my dues and cause no problems. The place is nice and clean and in a good location but theirs a skinny black guy who works there that makes things difficult. The first day I was there he was unable to process my banking information and tried to tell me my bank card doesn't work. They don't have a debit machine and don't take cash so they have to type a bunch of information into the computer in order to process you. This guy must have done it wrong and couldn't accept responsibility for his error and so blames my bank card. I had to waste a bunch of time running to the bank to double check and of course, the card was fine. Never had any trouble with my card before or since. Finally, I had a friend put the unit on his credit card. So today I go back in and ask this guy how much it costs to rent the smallest unit available and he won't answer me. Instead, he asks which unit I am currently renting. So I repeat my question and he repeats his. Finally, I get him to answer my question ($94). So I inform him that I had already put in my two-week notice for the unit I was currently renting and would like to rent a smaller unit for the next month and he says, 'well that's why it's easier just to tell me what unit you in.' He is too rude, too awkward. Now I have to waste a second bunch of time dealing with this place. Why can't he answer a simple question? I would have liked to pull a few things out of one unit and put them into another, one hour of my day, but instead, I have to wait and talk to a manager and possible bring my stuff somewhere else. What a pain in the butt!

Elbow River Healing Lodge has been a go-to place for many visitors for nearly 8 years. The cleanliness of the facility, including the waiting area and public washroom, is remarkable. The front line staff, such as Jenny, Bobbi jo, and Karen are highly praised for their exceptional service. The nurses, doctors, receptionists, and social workers are all commended for their excellence in providing care. Dr. Andrea Hull is particularly highlighted as a compassionate doctor.
I found a new family Doctor here since moving to Calgary and she is amazing. The nurses are also wonderful. My boy is very shy and the staff has made him open up, feel welcome and just got his playful side out on a few occasions. They are so helpful and supportive and I'm glad they were taking new patients. I appreciate all of their efforts and hard work.

I really appreciate my Family Dr that I’ve had for years here! She’s been very helpful and understanding. The nurses are also amazing! 3 stars, because years ago I had a bad experience with a therapist here. They didn’t know how to work with Indigenous trauma or come with a compassionate approach. Because of this, I don’t trust or feel open about my trauma anymore. I feel like they came from a very Western perspective, despite claiming their Indigenous identity.

they must have hired new receptionists booking appointments now because for the past few months i called to book important appointments with my doctors, they’ve failed to schedule me in. did the new receptionists complete their training during covid? because this is unacceptable. i have had to book appointments with my psychiatrist MONTHS in advance to find out it was never even booked!!! i had booked an appointment with my GP and apparently it never got scheduled either. do you know how long it takes to get seen by the psychiatrists? completely unacceptable.

The staff .nurses Drs reception. Cleanliness and even the layout down to the interior design is excellent. The only person I feel that lets the team down is Rosemary the social worker. I have ask for her help many times since dealing with the Healing Lodge. She doesnthat't ever remember who I am and has never helped me to contact the right people or failed to follow thru on her end. I don't mean this as a personal attact but I feel that she hasn't spent enought time understanding and learning about the many different resources available for the First Nations and Metis people. I have the greatest respect for all the other staff at the Healing Lodge. You shoud all be very proud. My thanks also go out to the persons responsible for putting together such a fantastic team.

I have been going to E. R. H. L for 8 years now. The cleanliness of the waiting area is astounding! Even the public washroom is nice to walk into. The "front line staff" my Jenny, getting to know new one for chantals mat leave. Then my other ladies... Bobbi jo, who's always at that desk with a d**m smile! (I think she is up to something.. All the time!!!!) And Karen who stepped right in and right up! (But I think she's in with Bobbi jo!) the "fill in "staff are so down to earth, it's always so nice to see you! You know who u are ladies! These ladies are the absolute glue to E. R. H. L ....bobbi jo and Karen, and jenny and( I'll get to know you) handle all 3 incl. dbt and central clinic. As for the clinic itself.... What CAN I say????? Our nurses are like none you have ever seen! Christina, MJ, and little Ivy that comes in to cover! You become like family. Clinic rooms ALWAYS fresh and clean. I check it out when I'm told to "go to your room! "The clinic is fully stocked always. As for the Doctors that choose to dedicate their time to elbow river, I'm pretty sure I've had the pleasure in meeting all of this team. Some I know better then others, my own little "team "that works with me. Dietician, social worker, indigenous mental health, elders. And MY amazing doctor! She goes up and above regarding my health. Caring, intuitive, listens attentively, also always that friendly face(think she too may be in with whatever Bobbi jo(ring leader!) seems to be up to !) But for real, my Dr (can't name the docs out of respect) goes the length for her clients. All the docs I know fairly well are no different! And they seem to have a tight commrade, tight team. You know who you are, the ones that make my day when I can make you smile for just that one sec. So...... Yes long post, but I feel as one who has seen E. R. H L grow.... And this many years as a client, I have a right to tell it as it is. My opinion. And I can say that as long as they will have me.... I do not plan to ever seek health care elsewhere. Hats off to your hard work everyone!

Tons of trails, beautiful colors in the fall, some hidden treasures (archaeological indigenous history)to find that are apparently 1000’s of years old, an off leash dog park(dog must stay in leash till you find the off leash area-well marked), and just a great way to get out of the city within the city.

I decided to pop by here to explore Calgary's nature, and Nose Hill did not disappoint! What a huge and beautiful place, with so much open space and so many trails to follow around. The views and the sense of scale are fantastic, and there's a lot of interesting biodiversity if you look closely.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Nose Hill Park in Calgary! One must experienc this vast spa e affording a panoramic view of Calgary downtown! ! The park is one of the largest urban parks in North America, offering vast open spaces, rolling hills, and breathtaking views of the city and surrounding landscapes. It’s an ideal spot for nature lovers, hikers, and anyone looking to have a nice walk or enjoy solitude! The trails are well-maintained and cater to all levels of fitness. The natural prairie landscape is home to a variety of wildlife, adding an extra layer of excitement to the visit. One must visit in the evening to spot them though! Friends have spotted deer and bob cats! Nose Hill Park is a must-see destination in Calgary. I saw an amazing sunset and would love to visit again

Gorgeous park with panoramic views over the city including downtown Calgary. There’s a variety of trails from more technical mountain biking ones to easy gravel options. There’s multiple places of interest to stop including a rock maze, Glacier hill, rocks, ponds, etc. Most trails are unshaded and requires uphill walking from the parking lot
Kevin W — Google review
I love this park, and I haven’t even had the opportunity (nor do I think I ever will fully) to explore the entire park! I typically start out at the Shaganappi Trail NW entrance. My pup is able to be off leash as soon as we get to the entrance from the parking lot. I love how much off-leash space there is for the pups. And it’s a great walk and view! I can’t wait to experience it in the summer.

I enjoyed a Saturday morning walk across Nose Hill Park. Its the perfect spot for a hike or just a leisurely stroll. The trails are extensive and well maintained, there are some signboards and maps to let you know where you are, and its dog-friendly - dogs are welcome everywhere with some off-leash areas too. The park is enormous and even at the weekend it never feels busy. There's some great view points of downtown Calgary and some other great photo opportunities. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy nature without even having to leave the city.

The park is not just about trails; it also offers an aquatic playground with a massive spray pad to help you cool off during those hot summer days.
The beautiful scenery is peaceful, and you get to breathe in the fresh air. I walked around the lake and ended up taking over 20,000 steps without even realizing it. It's a fantastic place for social gatherings and for nature lovers.

The park features a well-maintained bike path that stretches over 16 kilometers, perfect for cycling enthusiasts. The highlight for families is the fantastic water park, which provides endless fun for kids on hot summer days. The only downside is that in the summer the parking lot can get quite full.

My favourite place to chill on my day off, whether I just want to sit by the water or trek along the path around the perimeter of the reservoir. I have had the opportunity to kayak from here and I recommend it, well done and beautiful 🙏
Michael P — Google review
Our favorite walking path. It is about 15-16 kilometers if you walk the whole thing. Lots of great views, picnic areas and fishing too. If you go earlier in the day there is a good chance to see wildlife. Lots of photo opportunities. Paths are well maintained and marked for activity for walking and cycling. If you are walking stay on the correct side of the path to avoid run ins with cyclists. Most people on bikes let you know they are behind you. Fantastic place to observe lots of sailboats.l

South Glenmore Park is a hidden gem in Calgary! With stunning reservoir views, well-maintained trails, and great picnic spots, it's perfect for family outings. The Glenmore Reservoir is absolutely beautiful. Nice bike and walking paths around it, a variety of birds, a boat launch, there used to be a water park there too, not sure if it's still there or not. Oh and tennis courts too I'm pretty sure, as well as a washroom and drinking fountain. Just a really nice place to walk your dog, go fishing, boating, running, biking, or just to visit with friends and family in a beautiful area. Oh and if you're lucky later on in the day you might spot the local bats :D

Love this park, we visited while in Calgary. Awesome for kids of all ages, you can picnic, swim or play on sldes just to name a few. There are also benches and lifeguards on duty. The changing rooms and washrooms were also clean. No dogs are allowed, the place is also well maintained, with free parking on Sundays and holidays. That's always a welcomed plus. This is somewhere i will definately visit again.

This is a beautiful park in the vicinity of downtown, Calgary. It has plenty of trees, grassy ground, benches to enjoy shade or sun, and a paved trail to enjoy walking, jogging, or cycling. The park has a children play ground with lots of equipment to amuse children of diverse interests, and It is always buzzling with children. The park has a city and district cricket league established in 1908, a well-built pitch, net practice area, and a lot of cricketers of different age groups and genders exercising, stretching, running, practicing, or playing tournament matches. The league has many teams, and anyone can join a team and practice or play there. The park is popular for its wadding pool for all ages of people. Currently it is closed to the public. I have never wadded in a pool, so I look forward to visit the park once the pool is made available to the public. Street parking is available on the streets for which you have to pay, but after 6:00 pm and on Sundays, you may park for free. I cannot agree more with one of the reviewers who said this park was an oasis.
Bharat S — Google review
A smaller park not too far from downtown in the NW. It is perfect for families and anyone who wants to relax in the sun, but it's not big enough for biking or going for a walk. It's quite pretty. There are flowers, a wading pool, The Calgary & District Cricket League (founded 1908) and now the Riley Park Bandshell. I definitely recommend it (as long as you're okay with lots of people).

Free access to a wading pool, a cricket pitch, a lovely flower garden, and a playground. It can get pretty busy, and you will need to be aware of the occasional bandaid in the water, but overall a fantastic inner Calgary spot to enjoy a summer day. Highly recommend. When you are done, check out Another Dimension Comics, just across the street. And if you are hungry, Sidewalk Citizen is a minute past AD, a great market/bakery. Aug 7 2022 update: Still awesome. Weaselhead was weaselfantastic! Beautiful scenery, lush paths! After a long day at the coal factory, I gotta say, I’m beat! But a walk through here filled me with the burning hot energy of a thousand suns being punched into basketball hoop. Swish. Nothing but PARK! It’s amazing. I saw a deer. That was nice. I saw a WATER SOMETHING I don’t know. It was in water, there’s lots of water! And don’t be afraid of the forest. The trees are trees. And if your spicy you’ll walk around the entire reservoir because you’re awesome and have legs made of thunder and a soul gleaming with ruby tinted lasers!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Weaselhead Flats is a hidden Calgary treasure! On our visit we saw woodpeckers, beavers, muskrats, plenty of squirrels and chipmunks — and even a whitetail deer that quietly approached and walked right past our group. Absolutely magical. The area has wide, accessible paths for all abilities, plus more rugged trails if you want a true hike. It’s peaceful, full of wildlife, and feels like an escape from the city without ever leaving it. I honestly didn’t even know this existed — and now I highly, highly recommend it for anyone who wants to connect with nature right in Calgary.

It is my favorite park in Calgary. It's a really huge piece of forest full of birds, animals, and other wildlife inhabitants. Despite the past history of this territory (it was an old military area), it's a truly unique place with fascinating landscapes views towards the river. You can use main trails with hard cover goods for bicycles or choose small paths. Each visit here is a special story, that's why I so love this park.

The park's well-maintained pathways lead visitors through lush green spaces and past old trees, creating a picturesque setting for relaxation and leisurely strolls.
Central Memorial Park is Calgary’s oldest park, offering a beautifully landscaped green space in the heart of downtown. Established in 1912, this historic park features elegant pathways, lush flower beds, a stunning central fountain, and the stately Memorial Park Library, one of the city’s most iconic heritage buildings. With its European-style gardens, seasonal blooms, and peaceful atmosphere, the park serves as a perfect spot for relaxation, reading, or a quiet stroll. A tribute to Canada’s veterans, it also houses several war memorials, making it both a scenic and meaningful destination.

What a nice park in downtown Calgary. We came for the 4th Street Night Market. The vendors were unique and interesting. The selection of food trucks was wide range, so there's something for everyone. The park has a beautiful walkway around with nicely fixed flower arrangements. Parking is the biggest issue as it took us a couple of loops to find a spot.
Victor L — Google review
Went for a night market. It was great, there was live music and lots of tables to buy from even sweets if you have a sweet tooth.
Michelle P — Google review
Nice and relaxing spot for a quick walk or a quick glance at the city. Not extremely hard to find street parking across the block but be aware the place is usually a hangover spot for a lot of homeless people. Although they never seem to bother any visitors. Usually security keeps an eye close by (sometimes)
A D — Google review
Taxpayer dollars allocated to maintaining the park are not an efficient use of funds if the park’s primary users are people without homes and the general public feels unsafe using it. The public investment in a community amenity is undermined when its intended purpose—providing a recreational space for all citizens—is not being met due to social issues. The placement of a government-funded harm reduction facility across street, while intended to be a public health measure, may have unintended consequences for the surrounding community. Such facilities can draw a population of drug users to a specific area, potentially leading to increased public drug use and safety concerns in that neighborhood. While harm reduction is a valid public health strategy, its location and integration into the community should be carefully considered to avoid negatively impacting the quality of life for residents and visitors.
Mike — Google review

Great park with free parking and overflow parking. Civic Long weekend, it was super busy. People were ticketed for parking in a no-parking zone. Some BBQ pits but a lot of people tale gated or brought their own cookware and tents for summer fun. A couple of minutes walk to Bow Habitat Station and wetland Interpretative Centre and less than five minutes walk to Harvie’s Passage for swimming, kayaking, floating or waddling in the summer heat. Love this beautiful park with plenty of benches, bridges, tunnels and paved pathways. We discovered that in the summer you can even BBQ in a selected section which was a pleasant surprise. We had so much fun biking and e-scootering. The tree lined fall colours of the leaves on the ground and above was splendid. View of the creek and pond against the fall colours and snow which fell briefly for 10mins was gorgeous. Lots of people were out enjoying the long weekend. Lots of free parking. A must visit within the city.

There is another lake but no docks - readily accessible by any floating device. Kayak rentals are available onsite and today there was a wood burning pizza oven food truck (delicious - bought 1!) So much to do at this hidden gem; nestled along the Bow River and wildlife refuge area.

I visited this lake-front natural and manicured park at two pm on a week day in April when the weather was still cold. Although there were not flocks of people, there were a significant number of people doing activities like walking, walking with their furry friends, cycling, and jogging. (boating and skating are not available at present.) The park, established 38 years ago, has two lakes or huge ponds, created by channelizing the Bow River, wrapped by a paved trail. There is a forest with thousands of trees all along the trail. There are tens of benches all along the trail, picnic tables at some places, and a gazebo. Also, there are some other unpaved and winding trails and beaten paths, for those who like to explore more. Furthermore, there are Bow River Pathway and Trans Canada trail. The parking lot is not immense; nevertheless, on a busy day. you may park your vehicle on the nearby streets, for free. Over all, this is a well-maintained, good natural park for the dwellers of south east area of Calgary for a variety of activities, watching birds, and wildlife.

Such's an amazing park. Feeling the beatiful Bow River, the nice lake and comfortably trail. An ideal location for all season, but Summer time is good and great place for kayaking, biking, BBQ, photoshoot some wildlife.. (We caught a deer 🥰) Peace at heart 🙏❤️
Quynh L — Google review
Very nice trail that wraps around a pond. The reflections of the trees are beautiful. Not too busy. The path is paved. The day I went was foggy and it was extra special. Parking lot is a bit small, but you can also park on the street nearby. There are a lot of dogs at this park. Deerfoot Trail is across from the park and can be noisy some days.
Lisa — Google review
This is an amazing park if you enjoy hiking, walking, biking or adventures. It's like a forest but with hiking trails. You can walk around the water spots and even kayaking there. It's better to visit the park with a group as it will be a great adventure and you should save each others backs from bugs. Yes, bugs is the only problem in this place as you will find tons of then every where, so be prepared for that. There is washing room next to the entrance, and I think that you should use it at the beginning as it will be a long walk if you want to see every spot of this park. I recommend visiting it with family, friends and relatives and bigger groups is better than few members.
Ehab K — Google review
Amazing park lots of benches to sit. Two ponds with boating and canoeing. Rental services available but was closed when we visited, but you can bring your own as there is a nice launching station as shown in pics. Nice trails around both ponds and few unpaved trails leading to bee hotel kids loved it. Nice view of river looking over Ikea and ample parking space. One unique thing about this park was wild life lots of birds, ducks, deers, sparrows etc plus few of them were labled so kids can easily identify. Lots of shaded and unshaded picnic benches. Over all great park must visit. Check out videos and images and follow for more.

It's an awesome park! One day, we met with a few deers, geese, duckling, and even a bald eagle. It's a really special place close to wildlife.

Nature & Parks
Bowmont Park, nestled between Silver Springs and the Bow River, offers a variety of outdoor activities for visitors. The park boasts 27 kilometers of primarily cross-country trails, including popular ones like Sideshow Bob and Bowmont Singletrack. Additionally, there are grassland trails and paved pathways perfect for leisurely walks or hikes. Families can enjoy the boardwalk leading to Waterfall Valley, where kids can have fun while admiring the small yet charming waterfall.
Quick, quiet 20-minute loop around a pond. You can leave the path across the bike path and venture into hills with pathways. Great for active dogs.
Joe B — Google review
Looking for hilly walk with stunning views? Check out Bowmont Natural Environment Park. This dog-friendly park can give you a gentle to moderate workout should you stay on the paved pathways and plenty of benches to enjoy the view. Feeling a little more adventurous? Walk along one of the natural paths but be prepared for switchbacks and rocky terrain, plus keep a lookout for mountain bikers. Will be back again soon.
Sandra A — Google review
My dog and I regularly visit Bowmont Park throughout the year as there are many trails to explore and various elevations that can suit various physical abilities. You can stay on the regular paved path, just be careful of ice during the winter months, or explore some of the trails cut through the park. The majority of the paths are shared with cyclists, so if you have your dog off-leash, just be prepared to move aside for the bikes.
Sean L — Google review
Beautiful park for families where you can walk or push strollers or wheelchairs through easily. The path is shared with bikes so just be careful. There is a one way street to the parking lot which leads to the park. Benches are available along the path by the river. We saw so much wildlife and flora. This is also home to the osprey nest.

Beautiful place to walk and explore the nature!! Great place to walk your dog (off-leash park) but make sure you bring water and keep your fur baby on leash if need! :P Very peaceful and calm❤️
Xo — Google review
Excellent easy going nature walk! The walk starts off a little boring and mostly boring hills but once you’re in the actual park it’s a very nice nature walk. You can go to the pond first if you’d like but you can skip the pond and go straight to the river for more nature action. Staying on the paved path will lead you to the river. Explore mini trail walks in and around the park, it’s fairly easy to get back on track so don’t worry too much about getting lost. We went here on May 2020 and the fences weren’t locked as well so you can explore more if you wanted to. Sunset walks are the best here! You’ll see some wild life for sure like ducks, geese, birds and beavers! Definitely recommend going here and exploring for a couple of hours.
Jordan — Google review
Gorgeous park! You can wander in here for hours. Which is easy because there's no good wayfinding to help. Watch out for cyclists where the trails are narrower. We saw people get clipped today, and were almost clipped ourselves. No one rings their bells.
Spencer G — Google review
Just another breathtaking dog park and natural environment Calgary has to offer. Just be warned that dogs should be excellent swimmers to get in the water deep. Lot's of rapids in the summer!

Elliston Park is a serene public park located in the deep southeast along 17th Avenue. It boasts a 20-hectare stormwater retention pond and offers various amenities such as a rose garden, playgrounds, picnic shelters, and an off-leash dog area. The park's rich history reflects the collaborative efforts of an international community.
This is one of our favourite parks, there’s a loop around the water with half of it being an off leash dog area, and there’s an amazing playground. Playground is great for all ages, with a swing, merry go round, seated zip line, slides and the rubber on the ground. The washrooms aren’t anything special as they’re just portable toilets but at least they have some. Lots of picnic bench’s.
Jazmin H — Google review
This was a very nice walk. Great ending to have two park areas for the kids. They have an off leash area for dogs. Looks like some great sledding for winter. A nice quick walk. A fun sun dial for the kids to learn and play about time. Lots of birds in the pond.
TONYA D — Google review
Big beautiful park! Lots of attractions for kids, and beautiful frozen lake. Great parking lot with a big amount of space. Washrooms only seasonal unfortunately. You should check it out if you have small kids!
Alya — Google review
Elliston park is pretty cool area in the edge of s.e. not only it s the home for global fest, it can be used for functions as well. Then, there's a big part which is an off leash as well. I haven't explored the park fully. Since it's so big. There's also picnic area for family on the other side and a big playground. I do let my pooch swim when it just rained. Since the water is not as stinky and stagnant.
Cheryl F — Google review
After 20 years of enjoying walking my dogs at this park, I am sad to say it is no longer a good experience. The city allows tenters in the park who, as they move around the park, leave refuse behind that spoils the natural areas and creates safety hazards for people and their dogs. One of these "campers", set up on the path in the off-leash area, told me to take my dog and get out of the park. Fox glove, very dangerous for dogs proliferates along thei off-leash pathways and more garbage surrounds the lake, left there when the water recedes after a rain. There is not adequate dog park signage along the road indicating on and off-leash areas so people entering the dog park are unaware that they have, This causes problems between dog owners and joggers/bikers and others who are not comfortable around dogs. I have witessed several altercations.
Thea G — Google review
Very relaxing place. It has trail for walking and biking, playground for kids and a very beautiful lake. Great for family picnic!
Franzel S — Google review
The park is nice-ish overall. The playground side is beautiful but if you venture on the path around the water there is LOTS of garbage around the edge. I wouldn’t even let my dog walk on it in fear she might step on something bio hazardous due to the vagrant issues at the park and the road garbage that the wind carries down there. I would advise everyone, adults/children/pets to be extra cautious where you’re stepping.

We were there at GlobalFest, and it was amazing! If you gonna visit it at night, you should use mosquito spray. Great place to watch fireworks)

Nature & Parks
McHugh Bluff, located between Sunnyside and Rosedale in Calgary, offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the downtown skyline framed by lush trees and the serene Bow River. The park features walking paths, stairs leading to an observation deck, and a network of trails for running or leisurely strolls. It's a popular spot for nature enthusiasts, joggers, and urban explorers seeking stunning views that change with the seasons.
Ideal spot if you are looking for a fall trip within the city of Calgary. McHugh bluff also known as Crescent Heights lookout runs down to connect with Prince's Island Park. Wooden stairs connects Crescent Heights to the Park over the bridge. Lots of trees welcome the visitors for the fall season across the bow river. Stroller accessible but that could not connect Crescent Heights to the park because you can't use stroller in the stairs. Parking at Crescent Heights is free. It is good idea to park here and walk. Free entry at both ends (Crescent Heights and Prince's Island Park).
Nagendra R — Google review
Amazing place to have a casual walking and enjoy the beautiful view of downtown
Matt Z — Google review
Nice view. However, the road was not in good condition. When cyclists raised dust on the way up (no photo here), we had to choose a very steep dirt road to climb.
Sherry C — Google review
Hands down one of the best views of the downtown, and the best place for sunsets! If you're a photographer I highly recommend this location. At night the city skyline is lit up with thousands of lights and looks spectacular.
Yaroslav K — Google review
Great spot to watch the sunset with a beautiful view on Calgary. Free parking is possible at the surrounding streets. It seems that many dog owners come here for a sunset walk. If you are in Calgary for a visit, this is definitely a great spot to watch the sunset!
Tobias H — Google review
Great views of the city's downtown core, Sunnyside and the Bow River, while strolling along some of Calgary's most pricey real estate. There's benches if you want to sit and have a coffee, the stairs are a well known workout spot, and the trails through the bluff are a nice shortcut when you're walking to / from downtown up to the north. A good spot to watch fireworks or listen in if there's live music at Prince's Island.
Ben M — Google review
This is Calgary's beachfront! Expansive views of the city, mountains and river valley greet the visitor. It is a popular spot to stroll, run, cycle and share a take-out meal!
Louise D — Google review
Park right by the downtown community. Love walking my dogs here. Always a good walking area. Plus the view is really wonderful. There's a river right below the park and plenty of parking right by. Also few nice houses to look at.
