Historic Sites
Heritage Park, located in Calgary, is a captivating destination that showcases the rich tapestry of Western Canadian history. Spanning over 127 acres, this living heritage museum features the Heritage Park Historical Village, Gasoline Alley Museum, and Heritage Town Square. Visitors can immerse themselves in both indoor and outdoor experiences throughout the warmer months from May to Thanksgiving. The park comes alive with seasonal re-creations featuring actors who bring history to life through engaging performances.
A few months back our family had a wonderfully relaxing day at Heritage Park! It was the perfect spot to slow down, take in some history, and just enjoy being together. My 9-year-old son loved exploring the old-fashioned buildings, riding the vintage train, and seeing how people lived in the past. One of the highlights was the paddlewheel boat ride on the Glenmore Reservoir. It was such a peaceful experience, giving us beautiful views and a chance to just sit back and enjoy the moment. The staff throughout the park were friendly and knowledgeable, making history come to life in such a fun way. We also spent some time at the antique midway, where my son had a blast with the old-school rides. And of course, no visit would be complete without a stop at the bakery for some delicious homemade treats! Heritage Park is a great place for families looking for a mix of education and relaxation. It was a perfect day—no rushing, just enjoying the sights, sounds, and experiences of the past. We’ll definitely be coming back!

A fun, festive, and educational experience for everyone. The Park has an assortment of activities, rides, food, civic museums, and heritage architecture emphasizing the cultural significance of early Prairie settlement/life. It's like taking a step back in time, and it's worth every dollar. 11/10 do recommend.

Heritage Park in Calgary is a fantastic destination for a family outing. The park stands out for its welcoming policy on food and drinks, allowing visitors to bring their own and enjoy a picnic-like atmosphere—a rare perk that saves a lot on expenses compared to other parks where you can easily spend over $100 just on meals. Though tickets are on the pricier side at $36 for adults and $26 for kids, the experience is worth every penny. The park is meticulously managed, from parking to rides and everything in between. It’s incredibly clean, with free water fountains and spotless washrooms, ensuring a comfortable visit. Highly recommended for a day of fun and relaxation!

Really enjoyed coming here. It's like Disneyland, but better, because you can actually learn something about actual frontier life and how Alberta came about as opposed to some fantasized version of how things were. Plus, the Vaudevillian performances were really entertaining. There was something that happened, I don't want to go into the details, but I want to take a chance to thank the staff for handling the incident professionally and being very kind to me and my party.
龔振勝 — Google review
An absolutely wonderful place! The ticket price is well worth it, as it covers more than just a visit to a village—it's an immersive experience. During your visit, you'll watch over five short theater performances, each lasting at least 30 minutes, depicting the rich history of the area. The actors and actresses are incredibly talented, making the stories come to life. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and felt that one day isn't enough to fully appreciate everything this place has to offer. The staff members are all kind and helpful, providing excellent explanations about the site, especially the lady in the mine. You can begin your journey from the parking lot by taking a charming streetcar ride.Unfortunately, the gift shops didn’t have any magnets from this village, which was a bit disappointing.

This is such a wonderful place to visit. Everyone here always makes sure that you are having a good time. Everyone is in costume and stays true to the character they are portraying. There is a steam engine train you can ride as well at the steam ship that goes out along the reservoir. There are tractor rides and horse-drawn wagon rides, all of which are free with admission. There are midway rides for people of all ages. The general store and ice cream shop sell delicious treats, and the bakery is always making fresh baked items for sale. Every exhibit is authentic and has a plaque to describe its original location. There is so much to do that you can easily spend a full day here and not see everything there is to see.
Amanda — Google review
I really enjoyed this place. Wow! If you have children, they will enjoy it as well. I recommend going on the steam locomotive at Shepard Station or riding the S.S. Moyie first (in the same area) then do the other after. After experiencing these attractions, wander the property. Cool off with a local brew at the Wainwright Hotel & Bar Room.

I recently attended an organizational event at Heritage Park, and even though the park was closed to the general public, it was a fantastic experience. I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer size of the park—it spans an extremely large area with realistic setups that depict life in Calgary many generations ago. It’s essentially an entire town set up in a historical format, making it a fascinating place to explore. One highlight of my visit was the veterinary area, where I got to see how veterinary medicine was practiced back in the day. Our event was set up in the amusement park section, and I had the opportunity to try several rides, including the Ferris wheel. The staff were incredibly kind, polite, and gracious, ensuring we had a memorable experience. I also noticed a train track that circles the park and regretted not having the chance to ride the trains. I’ll definitely have to come back to Heritage Park next time I’m in Calgary. I highly recommend this park for families and anyone with an interest in history.

Children's museum
TELUS Spark Science Centre in Calgary offers an immersive experience with interactive museum exhibits, a children's play area, and an HD planetarium theatre. One of its highlights is the digital immersion gallery featuring an exhibit on quantum physics, turning this complex subject into a visually captivating adventure for all visitors. The center also provides stunning views of the city and opportunities for romantic moments in downtown Calgary.
We visited Spark during the week with 4 kids ages 13-6 and every kid was busy with activities. Absolutely fantastic place to spend the day. From play areas, through science experiments, movie theater, interactive "sandbox" and outdoor play structure, everything was a great experience for our family. The food court offers a variety of delicious food. Plenty of parking. The only thing is that it was crowded with school/daycare groups during the day, but overall it's a 5 star adventure!

Attended the Mother's Day Brunch, and it was terrific. There was a great spread with tons of options for the whole family. Very delicious. There were activities for the kids inside the room, allowing us to enjoy our meal while live shows entertained them. We also loved the photo booth and bead bracelet station. We'll do this again next year.

This is around my 3rd time going to Telus Spark and my thoughts are now Confirmed, I had went to the Infinity Dome, The Snack Shop, and others! The Snack Shop had some cool stuff to eat but some were a bit… overpriced. But the movie, Me and my Friend-group went to watch Hazelnuts (A 25 Minute Animated Show) Then we explored the Areas (I had initially forgotten the category names) We tried the Bed with nails (It was more uncomfortable than Scary, My friend said “I did it with out the pillow do not recommend”) They also have a Sensory test, where they have you taste gummy bears and ask you questions on what you taste! And there was a Booth where you take photos! (Doesn’t Print it out) but since I don’t remember if it has a name or not, I’ll be calling it the “Digital Photo Machine”

Visited on a Friday. Despite some good reviews, not worth the cost. So many of the activities and exhibits were "closed for repair " or simply closed with no explanation. (Photos of some of many that were closed. The VR zone sould have been open when we were there. We were told it was closed and summarily dismissed. ) Plenty of staff around who were uninterested in engaging with clients. The displays that were functional were unimpressive. The cafeteria wouldn't serve us at 2pm although it said it was open until 3pm. The toilets were filthy. The toddler toilet was "closed for repair". Handicap buttons for doors were worn so that identification paint wasn't visible. Doubtful this place could pass a fire inspection. I recommend the zoo or Heritage Park or Bell Media Centre. This place needs an overhaul of its management, board of directors, and basic priorities.
Carl — Google review
We had such a fantastic time at the Telus Spark Science Centre! This place is truly a five-star experience, thoughtfully designed with something for everyone, regardless of age or ability. It's the perfect blend of a science center and a children's museum, making it ideal for toddlers and young kids. The Creative Kids Museum was a definite highlight. It felt like a traditional children's museum with all the climbing spaces and water feature area you'd expect, but with a clever scientific twist. We especially loved the simple machines with adjustable ramps and the building tubes. They even had a soft play area for non-walkers, which was a huge plus. We also really enjoyed the opportunity to use a tool to cut cardboard—it was a unique and engaging activity. Even though a few spaces were closed for updates, we honestly didn't feel like we were missing a thing. There was still so much to see and do that we didn't get to explore everything! We saw a live demonstration and got to work in Steven's Lab, a hands-on opportunity to tinker and form scientific hypotheses. There was so much to do, I actually felt bad having to pull my daughter away to try and see as much as we could before nap time. The outdoor space was another highlight. It offered a great chance for kids to run, jump, and explore in a different environment. We went on a great day—it wasn't packed, though I imagine it might be during holidays or later in the school year with school trips. I even declared to my husband that if we lived in Calgary, I would get a membership. There is just so much to see and do here that it's worth coming back for again and again. Overall, Telus Spark is a must-visit. It's an incredibly well-designed space that seamlessly combines fun and learning.

Super place! Even though it was a busy day with lots of school kids visiting, it was still absolutely fantastic. Loved the hands-on experiments you can join anytime, the VR experience, and the robot dog was awesome!
Rimma — Google review
My daughter loved the place a lot. Since we visited on a weekend, line ups were a bit long; however, things were worth the wait. Rosie was the best part of our visit. We enjoyed a treat before leaving☺️ Plenty of parking!
Nadia O — Google review
Seems to have a lot of very outdated areas and ideas. Could make this centre so much more interesting and engaging. It was pretty much boring chaos. Telus spend some money on this centre ! Make it fun and more relevant. Wld not go back or bring out of town visitors. They do have a few interesting areas but Very expensive for a subpar experience. So many kids touching everything which is great but few sanitizing stations. Bring your own. Some instructions difficult to figure out or area is too basic to be interesting or learn something or too complex with no assistance or the area is not working at all. The computer 'take apart ' area had no small tools to take them apart only 3 huge screwdrivers that fit nothing. No instruction of what to do or what the parts were. Kids were prying and stabbing at the boards with the large screwdrivers! The whole area was a disaster of pieces. Several other areas were out of order. The welding kept jumping back to the computer to reload. Staff not available to help reset. VR had one person setting up for 4 ppl. It took at least 5 min to attached everything and prob 5 to take away items after, sanitize them and get next group for a experience that was 3 min long. Such a long wait >45 min for a 3 min experience. Did see a show. It was OK. Theatre itself is nice. The robodog was the hit. Bed of nails and the toilet. 3 things really. Disappointing for the cost for 2 people. Yes parking is 12$ no choices. Not walkable from the LRT. Wanted it to be fun 😏

Zoo
The Calgary Zoo, located on St. Georges Island in the Bow River, has been a popular attraction since 1917. It officially became a zoo in 1929 and now houses about 1,000 animals across seven zones including Destination Africa, Canadian Wilds, Penguin Plunge, and more. The annual Zoo Lights event during New Year's Eve is a magical experience for families with thousands of colorful lights creating a festive atmosphere.
Love this zoo, there is lots to see and do. I've come before with my family and this trip was with three teens. The staff are friendly and helpful and there is a lot of diversity in the exhibits. It's clean and has lots of accessibility points. The penguin house is awesome. There is lots of parking too. We visited on a super rainy day and it was great since nobody else was there!
Jennifer N — Google review
I live in the Edmonton area and I will always make the trip to come see this zoo before going to the Edmonton one. They have great exhibits here and they are laid out well with a great representation of the animals habitat. If your going through the best time is the early morning when they open so it's not too hot out and you'll see more of the animals. Also I believe you can see when the feed times are online for each animal as well. They have a great animal selection here, and I feel like they treat the animals very well here. I have been to zoos all over the world and this is by far one of the best in the way of animal treatment and habitat sizes. The zoo is licensed as well so if it's a hot day you can buy a beer and walk around with it, also I recommend ordering your tickets online and skipping the line to buy tickets especially on the weekend.

World class zoo, props to the staff members maintaining, up-keeping the place and also caring for the animals. We visited in the Fall and had a lovely time strolling through the entire vicinity while blessed with good weather and blue skies. Highlights for me were the Grey Wolves, Grizzly Bears, Penguins, Lemurs, Meerkets, Pallas’s Cat, Flamingoes, Porcupines, but really all animals we saw amazed us. Sad that we didn’t manage to see the Snow Leopards and Red Pandas. Clean and lovely enclosures with well maintained flora and fauna. We spent almost three hours pure walking through all enclosures but one can definitely spend half a day or a full day here. Great experience !
Jamie W — Google review
Great zoo. Always worth a visit whenever we’re in Calgary. The site is well laid out. We find it most enjoyable by keeping our visit shorter than longer. Trying to see everything in one visit can be physically difficult especially on a warm day. Weekends will generally be busy.
Twitchy — Google review
Went in the off season in September and October. Cafeteria could use more vegetarian options, prices are quit high as well. Couldn't find a good coffee anywhere and gift stores are pricey. Animal inclosures clean but small in my opinion. Love the volunteers. Animals seem healthy and well fed. Cute baby animals
Rebekah B — Google review
Loved my experience at the Calgary Zoo! The variety of animals is impressive and you could easily spend all day here. There's especially lots of things to occupy a family with children. The African section was especially impressive as you can get pretty close to some large animals that we aren't used to seeing in Canada. The staff is often feeding or taking care of animals around the park and this interaction keeps the animals moving about, which is interesting to watch. Didn't catch any sights of a few notable beasts like the polar bear and a few others but overall there is a wonderful selection and most of the animals were fairly active. The lemurs and the meer cats are especially fun to watch. The dinosaur section was a little less interesting only because there are no actual live animals obviously, but kids would likely love it. Would likey visit this place regularly if I lived in Calgary. Apparently it can sometimes be slightly cheaper to reserve your tickets online in advance. Highly recommend place to visit if you're in Calgary!
Jonathan F — Google review
I love the zoo, and even more so now that I have a little one. The animals all seemed to be in good spirits and well loved and taken care of. We got to see some local wildlife (not sure what bird it is) and many of the flowers in the butterfly exhibit were in bloom. They also had a bunch of new babies!! Meerkats, tapirs, and gorillas! Wonderful time and definitely worth buying a year round pass!
Megan F — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unforgettable Experience at the Calgary Zoo! The Calgary Zoo is truly a gem! From the beautifully maintained grounds to the wide variety of animals from around the world, every part of the visit was enjoyable. The enclosures are thoughtfully designed to mimic natural habitats, and the animals seem well cared for and active. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, happy to answer questions and share fun facts. I especially loved the Penguin Plunge and the Land of Lemurs—so interactive and immersive! Perfect for families, couples, or solo visitors. It's educational, fun, and a great way to spend the day. Highly recommend visiting—this place exceeded all expectations!

Observation Decks & Towers
The Calgary Tower is a towering landmark offering breathtaking panoramic views from its glass-floored observation deck and revolving restaurant. Situated in the heart of downtown Calgary, it provides stunning vistas of the city's rivers, parks, and surrounding areas. The observation deck offers a 360-degree view of the bustling city, the majestic Rocky Mountains, foothills, and prairies. It's an ideal spot for a romantic evening or to pop the question with its spectacular views and vibrant atmosphere.
Visited the Calgary Tower Observatory while downtown, and the views from the top are fantastic — you can see the entire city and the mountains. The elevator ride is smooth and fast, and there’s plenty of space on the observation deck to walk around and take photos. The glass floor section is a fun addition if you’re feeling adventurous. The staff were friendly and helpful, though I do think tickets could be a bit cheaper for the experience. Overall, still a must-visit spot for anyone wanting a great perspective of Calgary.
Ian M — Google review
The Calgary Tower is a great way to get a full view of the city. The observation deck gives you a 360° look at Calgary and the Rocky Mountains on a clear day. The glass floor is a fun experience and makes for some great photos. The staff are friendly, and the elevator ride to the top is smooth and quick. The visit itself doesn’t take too long unless you plan to eat at the restaurant, but it’s still worth it for the views and the unique perspective of the city. Tickets are a little expensive for the short time you spend there, but it’s one of Calgary’s most iconic landmarks and a nice stop if you’re exploring downtown.
Fayaz K — Google review
Wow stunning views. And going at sunset is highly recommended! The mountains are a perfect with the sun setting behind them! Food was fantastic! It's so beautiful to see the lights of the city light up below! We went after a long day of travelling and sightseeing so we were casually dressed, but you can dress up super fancy too! It was great!
Denika D — Google review
My visit to the Calgary Tower during a day trip to Calgary was a memorable highlight, offering breathtaking 360-degree views of the city that truly showcased its charm. On a cloudless, sunny day, the conditions were ideal, revealing the distant Rocky Mountains and the urban expanse in stunning clarity. The observation deck, enriched with informative displays identifying key buildings, added an educational layer to the experience, making it both engaging and insightful. The ambiance was pleasant, and the tower stands as a notable tourist attraction in downtown Calgary, with a unique glass floor section that, while smaller than anticipated, provided a thrilling perspective. However, the experience was tempered by certain drawbacks. The tower, while iconic, shows signs of aging and is dwarfed by newer, taller skyscrapers, which slightly diminishes its grandeur The cost—approximately $75 for two, including parking and admission—a bit too steep. The viewing deck offers a decent panorama, but the surrounding skyline is less striking than expected. Overall, the Calgary Tower is well worth a visit for its unparalleled views and historical significance, particularly for first-time visitors to Calgary. Its combination of scenic beauty, informative displays, and cozy ambiance makes it a rewarding stop, best enjoyed on a clear day.
Jeremie M — Google review
The Calgary Tower turned out to be an excellent stop on our trip. Admission is roughly half the price of Toronto’s CN Tower, and since the Calgary Tower is about half the height, it feels like a perfect trade-off—great value without compromising the experience. We timed our visit for around sunset and it couldn’t have been better. The views of downtown Calgary, the Bow River, and the Rockies glowing in the evening light were absolutely stunning. From the glass floor to the 360-degree panorama, every angle offered something memorable. Overall, the Calgary Tower provides amazing scenery and a fair price point that makes it easy to recommend. If you can, plan your visit for sunset—you’ll catch the city at its most beautiful.
Kenneth G — Google review
It was definitely worth going once! You get to see the city from a view point that’s quite amazing. However it is super important to figure out what time you should go there. I wouldn’t go again though because I do not think the ticket prices are worth multiple visits.
Viraj M — Google review
We didn't buy the ticket to the top but we had a dinner in 360 sky restaurant at the top of the tower. The foods were out of the world and the price was right for a sky tower restaurant. We spent $200 incl tips there, while we spent $500 in Look up tower restaurant in Vancouver, ever the foods here much better than Vancouver. We don't have to wear fancy dress here, casual is okay.

What an incredible experience! The 360° views from the observation deck are absolutely breathtaking - you can see all of downtown Calgary spread out below, and the Rocky Mountains in the distance are simply stunning. The glass floor was definitely a highlight - a bit nerve-wracking at first, but such a fun and unique experience once you work up the courage to step on it! This is a must-visit attraction when exploring downtown Calgary. The views alone are worth the trip, and it's a perfect way to get your bearings and see the city from a completely different perspective. Highly recommend for visitors and locals alike.

This was a pleasant surprise. Lots of different planes, including access to look into the cockpit of most of them. Displays of different engines and other parts of old war planes on display. Small gift shop with merchandise and toys as well. My son absolutely loved it, and I found it quite fascinating. They even included information on some pilots, including female pilots.
Melanie R — Google review
An amazing experience if you are into any kind of military or aviation history! The planes on display are perfectly restored and the staff is very friendly and ready to help with any questions you may have. Definitely the kind of place you can spend an entire day with family members of all ages.

A nice collection of Canadiam aviation history. The Lancaster is very impressive. A wonderful little gift shop when you first enter with an assortment of clothing and toys to commemorate your visit. I visited on Saturday morning and it was not busy but was getting busy when I left at lunchtime. Go when it first opens if you want to avoid crowds. Discount for veterans.
David R — Google review
We saw some fantastic planes, engines, and other memorabilia there. For my husband it was a step back a little in time to his RCAF days as well. There were many old warplanes, including a Lancaster! I learned a lot reading the info boards dotted around.
Nuala R — Google review
If I could give this place zero even negative stars, I would. $17 just to see one side of the museum because the elevator is far too small for a wheelchair. I was there with my participant, who uses a wheelchair, and we couldn’t even go upstairs to see the rest of the place. It’s 2025 there is absolutely no excuse for such poor accessibility. Designing an elevator that doesn’t fit a wheelchair is unacceptable. Management needs to fix this IMMEDIATELY….

Beautiful place to spent some time and learn about some of the unique aircraft that used for the war.

Was staying very close to the airport before a fight later in the day. This is a great museum. The staff are really friendly. Great collection of aircraft. If you have a long stop over at Calgary airport it would be worth going to.

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, established in 1929, is a renowned zoo and park located on a 125-acre facility. It houses over 4,000 animals from more than 100 species and is celebrated for its exceptional animal care and habitat design. With an annual influx of over 1.3 million visitors, the institute aims to educate and inspire guests about wildlife conservation.
Had a wonderful time at the Calgary Zoo! The layout is great, lots of animals to see, and the whole place is really well maintained. It was a super hot day when we visited, so I totally understand that the polar bear was probably chilling indoors with the A/C — though I was a little bummed to miss seeing it. That aside, it was still a fantastic experience — from the playful lemurs to the majestic tigers, there was so much to enjoy. Definitely a must-visit if you're in Calgary, and maybe I’ll catch the polar bear next time when it’s not sunbathing weather!
Preethy S — Google review
Had an amazing time at the zoo! The staff were friendly and helpful, and we appreciated how clean and well-maintained everything was. There were also plenty of places to take a break, grab a snack, and just enjoy the surroundings. Washroom available in every area. The staff and volunteers are incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to answer questions or share insights about the animals. The exhibits are engaging and informative, making it a great experience for kids and adults alike. I would highly recommend for any age.

Great way to spend your day. Lots of parking fast lines, lots of animals. Most were pretty sleepy while we were there, except the wolves who were prancing around and coming right up to the glass. Tickets are cheaper if bought in advance. I took way too many photos and had a lovely day.
Megan S — Google review
We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Calgary Zoo. The Penguin Plunge was a highlight, with so many different species of penguins to see up close. It was fascinating to watch them waddle and swim around. The Prehistoric Park was a real treat and something I've never seen at a zoo before. My daughter loved "spotting" all the life-sized dinosaurs from afar, and it was so cool to see them in a realistic, life-sized setting. Destination Africa was another standout. We got to see the hippos so incredibly close, and it was amazing to watch the giraffes peacefully grazing nearby. While we didn't get to see the Wild Canada exhibit on this trip, it gives us a great reason to come back again. Overall, it was a fantastic and memorable day. The zoo is a must-do for families visiting Calgary!
Melanie N — Google review
The Calgary Zoo is one of the best family attractions we’ve visited! It’s well laid out, making it easy to explore different zones — from the African Savannah with giraffes and lions, to the Canadian Wilds where we saw bears and cougars up close. The Penguin Plunge was a highlight — the kids loved watching them swim and waddle right by the glass. Highlight was the Polar bear! What really makes the zoo special is how educational it is. Each section has interactive displays, conservation stories, and plenty of opportunities for kids (and adults!) to learn about wildlife and habitats. The grounds are beautifully kept, with shaded areas, rest stops, and a variety of food options, making it very family-friendly. We spent almost a whole day and still felt like there was more to see. It’s not just a zoo — it’s a mix of fun, learning, and adventure. A must-visit when in Calgary!
Manju D — Google review
Amazing place for a family day out! We visited with kids and everyone had a great time. The grounds are very clean and well maintained, with lots of shade and beautifully designed animal enclosures. We were especially impressed by the penguins, tigers, and the dinosaur park — so realistic! My little one loved the kids’ zoo where you can feed the goats. Staff were friendly, and the café had a nice variety of food. A perfect spot to spend the whole day with family. We’ll definitely be back!
Yuliia K — Google review
Lots of construction throughout areas of the park. The only food location opened was by the gift shop, when exiting the zoo; every other food location was closed. Tickets should be discounted during this time. Parking was easy. Staff working in the gift shop were exceptionally friendly.
Janice K — Google review
I think the price of admission and parking was a bit steep. But there was lots to see. Our favorites were the penguins and butterfly sanctuary. The polar bear was hiding unfortunately. We also liked the grizzly bear, hippo, and flamingos. Lots of places to grab food, rest. The place can feel a bit Ike a maze if you're unfamiliar with it but we enjoyed the different themed exhibits. They have a quiet nursing room for those with babies!

A truly fascinating place to visit. The atmosphere here is unique — calm, inspiring, and full of history. Every corner seems to tell its own story, and the exhibits are displayed in a way that draws you in. I enjoyed spending my time here, wandering slowly and taking it all in. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back and explore it all over again.

Such an interesting place to visit, lots of interesting things on display, and so much history to learn about. The permanent collections are quite good, but I also really enjoy the exhibits which change, as they it freshen things up. I recently learned about the extensive collections this museum actually holds, and I hope with the new place that they rotate more, as it’s really good to learn more about our history in Alberta, Canada, and the world.

Visited during their First Thursday of the Month free admission and it was really crowded but worth the visit! They have four floors with lots of exhibits like Calgary history, pre-historic time, Minerals, artifacts, collections and contemporary arts. It’s a good place to visit if you’re in Stephen Avenue area so you could get a little history about the city👌
Nomad_paul — Google review
Amazing art history museum! Beautiful exhibits highlighting deffoerent art mediums like pencil, paint and sculpture. Great inclusion of inuit and indigenous artists and culture. I especially loved the Mankind exhibit and the pencil art exhibit. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town and in mood to see some astounding art. Although, there is currently a huge renovation going on where the 3rd and 4th floors are closed, maybe even for while. Also, they need ticket reservations online with certain time slots.
Justina H — Google review
We were lucky as when we got to the museum they told us it was free for everyone! We thought it would be crowded, but it was not. There were plenty of people but did not feel uncomfortable, there was plenty of room for everyone to move around and look at the exhibitions. Warriors is one of our favorite exhibits. I have seen lots of armors before, but did not know how they made them, here we learned so much! Also the mineral exhibit is amazing, worthwhile visiting, kids loved it. Visiting the museum takes time, we could not see all of it, but are planning a second visit. This is a great museum!

Wonderful museum with always lots of exhibits to look around. I think it is because of a sponsor but every first Thursday of the month is free entry for everybody to have a look around the museum. As a student, this is a blessing. I was fortunate enough to look at the exhibit on the indigenous community of Canada (Alberta to be specific) named 'Niitsitapiisinni: Our Way of Life'. It was a beautiful exhibit and well put together too.

The best museum I've been to. Some of the stands are interactive. Great source of inspiration. Seems somewhat modest when you come in but the moment I spoke to the receptionist I knew this was gonna be good. Very kind people willing to help you, guide you and, if you go on your own you don't miss a thing since everything is very intuitive. Highly recommended both as a personal experience as well as a group visit

The Genbow is and always has been an excellent museum. It is not huge but they do a great job with the space. There is always a visiting exhibit. Hands on exhibits and the regular exhibits. I had not been for a while and they really upgraded several of the exhibits. I also find that the price is very reasonable for a museum of this type. Definitely worth a visit.

Calaway Park is a seasonal amusement park located in Western Canada, offering over 30 rides, stage shows, a 3D theatre, and midway games. It has been providing affordable and family-friendly entertainment for more than thirty years. The park's one-pay gate system allows unlimited access to rides, attractions, live shows, and street performers like stilt walkers and jugglers.
Calaway Park is a fantastic family destination! I've visited multiple times with my wife and our kids (ages 6 and 3), and each trip has been a joy. While some rides are age-specific and not suitable for younger children, there's still plenty to enjoy. The atmosphere is vibrant, the staff are friendly, and the park offers a wholesome experience for all ages. From gentle rides to engaging shows and play areas, our kids were entertained throughout. It's a great spot for creating lasting family memories. We will definitely be back!

Great amusement park for kids and parents/families, and lots of stuff for teens too. So many rides toddlers can go on if they are tall enough. Even when the parking is packed it is not too big of a wait for a lot of the smaller rides. The water rides are a long wait and close an hour before closing time. Lots of bathrooms around. Lots of food options. Shaved ice and pineapple dole whip is vegan. Cool Halloween vibes when summer season is over. Decorated all throughout the park.
Marta B — Google review
Coming into the parking lot, everyone was parking to the left as it looks like they are building something on the right. They have lots of people waving you in telling you where to park. They have many booths to pay for your tickets as you go in. I do recommend buying your ticket online before going in. When you went to the park you can go to the left or to the right. I recommend going to the roller coaster first. The lineups can get quite long. The roller coaster and the log ride usually get the longest lines. The staff is very friendly and the park is very clean. I do find the water is expensive there so bring your own water to drink. They do have an area with lots of picnic tables for you to have a lunch. I have a 2 year old and he could go on about nine rides. When my daughter was 9 she could go on every single ride. Overall I do like this park. I do believe it is time to add some new rides. We went September 14th and they had Halloween days starting. They had parades and they had people dressed up everywhere.
Stephanie M — Google review
The park is great, especially for kids and probably some teenagers up to around 14 years old. There are lots of fun rides for children, bright swings, and a Parade of Fairy-Tale Characters (they were handing out delicious candies). We also bought some food — the fries were very tasty. There are small lines for the restrooms. We’ll definitely visit this place again!

I visited Calaway Park and had a fantastic time! The park was spotless, the staff were super friendly, and the atmosphere was full of energy. It’s clearly a perfect spot for families—so many smiling kids and parents enjoying the day. Whether you’re with a group or on your own, it’s a fun, well-run park that’s worth the visit!

IF YOU WANT A GREAT PLACE TO TAKE THE WHOLE FAMILY, THIS IS IT! Amazing experience! They have rides for kids rides for adults, add rides for really small kids as well! There are lineups and that long. The most We ever waited was about half an hour. It is $52 to get in the dollars to get in the door if you are 13 to 65 years of age.
Christine G — Google review
Great value. Lots of rides and activities for my 5 and 7 year old kids. Did not have to wait more than 5-10 minutes for the rides. We would come back for sure. We liked the magic show.
Dave T — Google review
Fun lil park. Definitely for kids - we had fun for maybe 2 hours and that’s all there is to do as an adult. It’s closer to Calgary - the only perk. There were some rides that charge you additional $2-$5 on top of the entry ticket. Haunted house was a joke. Extremely long queues. Overpriced snacks and drinks. Meh! If you want to visit on a weekend, plan ahead cos parking is going to take you a long time.

This ski resort is absolutely fantastic! The slopes are wide, so there’s no need to worry about collisions. We happened to visit during the World Cup, and even though it was crowded, the lift lines moved quickly. The lifts are beginner-friendly, slowing down at the top to make it easy to get off. The green runs have just the right incline—not too flat—making them great for beginners. Plus, the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend!

There is a lot going on here. It is nostalgic and historical to visit a setting from the 1988 Winter Olympics. Love the tube park, especially with friends. Easy to maneuver and super fun. Great for kids and for adults. Would definitely recommend helmets for the little kids. I felt very safe and secure without one as an adult. Workers had great energy when we went. No ID needed to check-in to get tickets. Can ride as a single or holding onto another. My only complaint was they did not keep the magic carpet open until 830. We were cut off at 820 so they could “get everyone else down the hill.” Not fair to those of us who were already down and lost 10 minutes of fun. Great otherwise!

Cool designs, general space, art, etc.

We walked through the eastern half of the park, and it took a couple of hours. This part of the park consists of prairie landscape and some bushes near the Fish Creek river. It was a little bit monotonous, but we found a few interesting places. It'd be better if you came here with bicycles. I really want to explore more wild west parts of the park.

I found the variety of landscapes refreshing. There are quiet spots by the river perfect for reflection or even a picnic, and more open areas where you can feel the breeze and soak in the sun. Wildlife is abundant here, making it easy to spot birds, deer, and even the occasional beaver. For me, Fish Creek is more than just a park—it’s a place to relax, reset, and appreciate nature. If you’re in Calgary and looking for an outdoor adventure that doesn’t take you far from the city, this park is a must-visit!

Spending evening in the fish creek neighbourhood is just soothing. No amenities or shops in the area. It has large playgrounds, river bank, pond, scenic beauty and very less crowd m. It’s a nice spot to take an evening walk.
Juhi L — Google review
I have visited the Fish Creek Provincial Park three times in a month time; nevertheless, I have not yet explored it completely, for it is the second largest urban protected natural area in Canada that sprawls in an area of over 13.4 square kms. The enormous park provides picturesque natural scenes of forest area, grassy lands, lots of hills of various heights, creek, ponds, lakes, and over hundred trails and roads. I have yet to explore the southern side of the enormous park where Sikome Lake is situated. I intend to visit the park again to see some wild animals, birds, and the lake, soon. The park has more than 100 km paths of paved and unpaved trails as well as plenty of beaten paths for activities such as walking, jogging, running, cycling, ascending and descending hills, and capturing natural scenes of wildlife's flora and fauna. The creek that gives an impression of a mighty, long river is a prepossessing part of the park. There are some benches to relax and tables to enjoy picnic with your family and/or friends at several places and near the creek. Also, there are clean washrooms at different places in the park and along the creek. Today, for the fourth time, I visited the park. I went to the Sikome Lake which was way more beautiful and bigger than I had thought after seeing some of the pictures. Although there is an entry fee and a weekday, there were hundreds of people on a Wednesday evening. Had I not gone to the lake, I wouldn't have been able to see the extremely beautiful part of the park. Anyone visiting Calgary must add this park in their things to do in the beautiful city.

The Military Museums in Calgary is a large complex of eight museums that showcase the history of the naval, army, and air force, as well as a gallery dedicated to human conflict. The museum is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, with the Cold War Hangar open from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission fees vary by age and group type.
This military museum is surprisingly large. We spent about 2.5 hours at this museum and had a great time. It is unique in that most military museums are arranged by specific wars, but this one is arranged to follow specific regiments or battalions. It would take 4 hours or more to read all the history on the panels that span several large rooms. Also unique to this museum is the mannequins that are a part of the war replicas, each posing to fit the scene. Looking at other reviews, I expected to see only about 15 of these scenes but there are closer to 75 I would say. Definitely worth the time.
David S — Google review
There is SO much to see here! We spent about 5 hours exploring and still felt like we could have easily stayed longer. We happened to visit on a day with a special outdoor event, which was such a nice surprise and added to the experience. The exhibits are fascinating and full of history and artifacts. My only suggestion for improvement would be to have staff inside the museum to share information, context, and first-hand knowledge about the displays. At other similar museums we’ve visited, having that interaction has really enriched the visit. That being said, the security guard outside was incredibly knowledgeable, and it was so interesting speaking with him about his experiences and insights. He knew things that even the people running the outdoor event didn’t know. The pricing for a family is very fair, and overall this is an amazing place for anyone interested in history. Highly recommend setting aside a good chunk of your day, there’s truly so much to take in.

They have real world Veterans teaching you. This place is loaded with so much information and education and fun. The props/statues are excellently executed. Space is huge, A really really great space for family, friends, School, people that want to learn about Canadian history. Very glad I was able to visit here and will be back as 2 hours was not enough time. They have real life fighter jets. If you want to learn something cool or take some really cool photos, go here for sure.

My boyfriend is into engineering feats such as planes and jets, and he was very excited and delighted to visit here (we are from out of town). I am not much of a military or history buff but the amount of visual artifacts and pieces of Canadian military history displayed and laid out in exhibits here was fascinating for even me to read about and consider. There were some full size planes in the hangar and veterans who had flown them were volunteering their time on the Saturday that we were here. That was very impressive for me. Definitely worth visiting even if you have only a marginal interest in such things. You could spend hours here as there is a great density of information and it is displayed in really accessible ways

Why is there no six star option for this place!? Special shout-out to the two veterans manning the Cold War Sabre/Starfighter exhibit, the veteran who walked us through the Highland regiments exhibit, and the volunteer at the RCAF exhibit who told us to look for the secret tunnel. So very knowledgeable and very engaging. This museum is a must see if you're in Calgary, it truly is a gem. So many excellent exhibits and stories of Canada's military history and so much hardware to have a look at. You must visit this place! That's an order!

Wow, this is an amazing piece of Canadian history! There was so much to absorb, I couldn't read all the dioramas or stories. As Canadians the least we can do is read the stories of the how our forefathers sacrificed themselves for our freedom to vote and decide our futures. And so much amazing equipment everywhere. So many cool things and weapons. Who says Canadians can't fight? Reminds me of heady times when we used to have honor and a big stick. I'll have to be back for more!

This was absolutely amazing. There were retired army veterans working there, volunteering. The exhibits were detailed and there was so much information. One of the volunteers, Reg, took us on a tour spontaneously and it was absolutely amazing. How humble he was, how informative he was and how funny and pleasant he was made this one of our best memories on our road trip to Calgary from Vancouver. The stories he told were amazing and I felt like I could have stayed there for 6 hours and not be bored. It was also huge, we were there 2 hours and only went through one section of it.

My husband, a former reservist and military history enthusiast, and I were happy to make a return visit to The Military Museums in Calgary. This is the second-largest military museum in Canada. It has 8 museums at this location; navy, army, air. There is an incredible team of staff and docents, including many veterans. They are welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. We received a free, 60-minute personal tour by a retired history teacher (I'm sorry, I can't recall his name) of the section dedicated to the Army. It was amazing. The collection is massive and in rotation as only a portion is on display at any one time in this huge complex so you'll see new things each time you visit. If you're ever in Calgary, go!

Additionally, it offers educational programs for children covering topics like agriculture, horse anatomy, and wetland ecosystems.
This was my seventh or eighth visit but my first time for The National and first time purely as a spectator. As always, there was top show jumping, beautiful immaculate grounds, free parking. The ticket prices are affordable, too. We had a great day out. Will be back again. Happy 50th Spruce Meadows and thank you!

I met some Brits in the hot tub of my hotel & they told me they are in town to do "horse jumping" at Spruce Meadows. I've never heard of that, so I went to check it out. From the parking lot attendants, to tickets, to ushers, everyone was welcoming, warm & friendly! Parking was free, admission was $25, it's clean, has beautiful decor, ample shopping & places to eat, two rings to see shows. I saw my hotel friends at the international ring. Got to see the "musical ride" from the Canadian Mounted Police. See 2 main competitions and it was wonderful! 50th Anniversary, and the 'Masters". I got to see the world Blacksmith competition make horse shoes. At the end see the English Royal Guards, a military band, play at the final ceremony! This was a picture perfect day! To my hot tub pals, it was a pleasure to see you perform! I highly recommend you give this a try! Love everything about this place! ❤️

My review of "The Masters" at Spruce Meadows. It was a fantastic family fun day with so much to see and do. The highlight for us was definitely the kids' area. The face painting, button making, petting zoo, and bounce house were a real treat for my toddler, and she absolutely loved it. She also had a blast watching the dogs on the obstacle course and, of course, enjoyed all the delicious food and treats available throughout the grounds. The train ride was a bit underwhelming for the adults, as it was a little hard to see and had to stop to avoid scaring the horses, but it was nice to see a few horses in their stalls and get a close-up view.

Devonian Gardens is a lush indoor botanical garden nestled within the Toronto Dominion Square in Calgary, Alberta. This hidden gem features over 20,000 plants, meandering walkways, and a captivating sculpture court under a vast roof garden. Visitors can admire fishponds teeming with rainbow trout, koi carp, goldfish, and turtles while enjoying art exhibitions and performances.
Okay, this is not an extensive Botanical Garden, but it's still a lovely place, in the middle of a shopping center. They have a nice selection of different plants. Love the different textures and blooms. Signage is available to let you know what you are looking at. Some excellent spots for taking photos or selfies. The many people I saw, individuals, couples and families were all enjoying the chance to spend some time indoors (it was a little chilly outside) but still be in nature. Nice :)

A really relaxing setting, I love it! Great to sit solo or with someone and catch up! I grabbed some food and a brew from the food court to the right of the gardens and then found a table within the gardens to eat and relax. The gardens are made up of water features, plants and usually fish in the deeper ponds too, however none this time. There is renovation work going on and has been for years one way or another as I was last here 8 years ago and the gardens were closed!

A great little indoor oasis, good for an especially hot or rainy day. Sadly when we visited the koi pond was closed for renovations, but all of the beautiful plants and flowers and water features were enjoyable. Grab some grub at the food court nearby and soak in the ambience of the greenery.

Beautiful place to spend time. Whenever I come to shop at Simon's, I always stop in the gardens. The koi fish pond was closed due to renovations (sad) but they have updated it so much! Very relaxing atmosphere. Great little indoor park for small kids, very close to the food court. Sitting at the tables inside the gardens even though a public area, still felt very private. Always have a lovely time when I go!

A beautiful, peaceful spot in the heart of downtown ,perfect for lunch breaks or a quiet escape, especially on cold days. The greenery is lush, and seeing little sparrows fly around made it feel extra special. There’s also a small playground for kids. That said, a couple of things could be improved. The garden is located on the 4th floor of a mall, but there weren’t any clear signs or directions to find it ,I had trouble locating it, especially since I was in a bit of a rush. Also, the washrooms in the garden lacked basic supplies like hand soap and paper towels, which was disappointing. Still, a great place to unwind!

Established over 80 years ago, it's a favorite spot for birdwatchers with 270 different species of birds recorded here. The sanctuary offers picnic facilities, walking trails through forests and open grasslands, an outdoor classroom, and a learning center. Visitors can also explore the fishing pond and learn about local wildlife at the Nature Centre.
Fantastic walk with the family, enjoying God's beautiful scenery. Small museum at the front, side gate on the side of the museum which allows access to the sanctuary. Birds, deer, porcupines, beavers have been seen here. Best time to go, in my opinion, is Fall! See photos.

We took a beautiful walk along the river, where we saw lots of wood ducks, magpies, northern flickers, two sharp shinned hawks and both a juvenile and adult bald eagle. There are benches along the trail that provide peaceful places to sit and watch the river flow by. This sanctuary is close to downtown Calgary with plenty of parking and a very nice visitor center with washrooms. I’d love to visit during the peak of spring and fall migration. I’m sure it’s teeming with birds then!

The reception center is impressively designed, providing a welcoming atmosphere with a wealth of information about the sanctuary and its inhabitants. A great place to beat the heat and learn about trout (and other fish), as well as the various aquatic habitats of Alberta. The main floor has admissions and the hatchery, the upper floor is the discovery centre exhibits, and the basement has the aquariums! There are some monster trout down there!

We were just there for the Biodiversity Festival and we had a blast. The staff at the booths were incredibly knowledgeable and so much fun to talk to. The staff throughout the center were soo lovely. It is truly a hidden gem in Calgary that not many people seem to know about. It's surprising how little this place is advertised because it’s an absolute must-visit for everyone in the city! Whether you're a kid or an adult, there's something here for everyone to enjoy. The learning experience is phenomenal—you'll come away with a deep appreciation for the environment, conservation, and wildlife, with the fish hatchery being a particular highlight. They offer feeding time slots you can sign up for, along with a tour of the hatchery that's both informative and engaging. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and do a fantastic job explaining everything. The facilities are clean, well-maintained, and the overall experience is one that leaves a lasting impression. If you're in Calgary and haven't been to Bow Habitat Station yet, you're definitely missing out!

The beat part of this was feeding the fish. It was so much fun. We didn't get the tour because of staffing issue, so all the more reason to go back. The interpretive center was interesting. Good for kids in elementary, but the middle school kiddos were a bit bored. Need to go back and try their fishing workshops. In the summer months there is a pond to try your hand at it. Really near Pearce Estates park. Center is a short walk from the parking lot, but there is handicapped parking near and you can be dropped off easily.

A great place to visit if you have kids, for adults something very interesting should not be expected. 🐠 It's a great way to show what exactly and how people pollute the environment, the consequences are shown, as well as examples of how not to do it. 🐟 For the price of the room (10$) is pretty good. It took me 25 minutes to go everywhere and take all these pictures. I wish everyone a good vacation 🐡

It's such a beautiful park. Flower arrangements were very creative. The trees are great. Kids' play structure is newer and a lot of fun. The new black squirrels were neat to see for the first time. Came here for Folk Fest and it did not disappoint! It is an amazing venue to hold such a popular festival. There are multiple stages with remarkably good sound systems and plenty of natural grass to sit on. The breeze from the river sure is welcome under the hot sun 🌞 There is a great big children's playground here that is quite popular. The benches around it are perfect for parents to sit at while letting their kids burn off their energy. In the Spring there are plenty of Canada geese that nest 🪺 and prepare their goslings for life outside the nest. With all of the natural beauty it is a great escape from the urban jungle just across the bridge.

I parked at the Crescent Heights scenic point and walked into the Prince’s Island Park via the connecting stairs. Pro: I did not need to worry about parking and could instead focus on how BEAUTIFUL the park was and how joyful the people were. Con: I had to walk up a gazillion stairs to get back to my car. Depending on your enthusiasm for cardio, this con can become your pro as I saw a bunch of people exercising by running up and down the stairs. I cannot relate. This may be an ignorant American viewpoint, but are Canadians just that much happier and healthier?? I went on a 2-mile (sorry I don’t know what that is in kilometers) walk around the park and not only did I see beautiful views, I also interacted with lovely people. There were many recreational enjoyers of the park and they took the time to look me in the eyes and smiled at me?? The camaraderie was off the charts. With that said, I feel for the homeowners who live right next to the park because they have to deal with very loud car pollution from the road (side facing Crescent Heights). While walking back to my car, I did have the thought that I should’ve brought my noise canceling headphones because it was so loud that I could not think. If the city of Calgary can invest in safer streets by converting that arterial road into bike and pedestrian paths instead, that would make the park experience that much better. It is my wishful thinking, and I think it could work since driving on that road didn’t seem all that stress-free either. It was clogged up with anxious drivers waiting to get the heck out of there, and it was where I heard the first loud horn during my stay in Canada.

The Peace Bridge is one of Calgary’s most iconic landmarks and absolutely worth a visit. Its unique architectural design—a striking red pedestrian bridge stretching over the Bow River—is both modern and elegant, making it a favorite spot for photos and sightseeing. The bridge is well-maintained, clean, and wide enough to accommodate traffic in both directions without feeling crowded. The views from the bridge are fantastic—you can take in the flowing Bow River beneath you, the city skyline in the background, and surrounding green spaces on either side. The atmosphere is peaceful and scenic. A perfect spot for a relaxing stroll, a quick bike ride, or just to pause and enjoy the view. A must-see when in Calgary!

The peace bridge was wonderful! The only downfall was trying to figure out at the time of night that we were there was where we were supposed to be parked, and at what times that you had to pay to park. The signs were very confusing on that aspect. Other than that, it was a very beautiful, very nice Experience!

I had a wonderful experience visiting the Peace Bridge. The day was sunny, and the calm river flowing beneath created such a relaxing atmosphere. I spotted ducks on one side and geese on the other, adding to the charm of the place. It’s a perfect spot for a peaceful walk, surrounded by nature, yet just steps away from downtown Calgary.

I recently visited Piece Bridge, and overall, it was a very pleasant experience. •The bridge provides lovely views of the surrounding area, especially at sunrise and sunset. It’s a nice spot for taking photos or simply pausing to appreciate the landscape. •Design & Structure: The architecture is simple but elegant. The clean lines and sturdy construction make it both attractive and reliable. •The bridge is easy to access, with smooth walking surfaces suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. •The area is well-maintained, and there wasn’t much litter.

Visiting Calgary’s Peace Bridge was a real highlight of my trip. Designed by the world-famous architect Santiago Calatrava, this bridge is unlike any other with its bright red, tubular helical structure that looks both futuristic and elegant. It instantly catches your eye and adds a bold splash of color to the cityscape. The bridge spans the Bow River and serves as a vital pedestrian and cyclist connection between downtown Calgary and the Sunnyside neighborhood. It’s not just a bridge — it’s a welcoming public space where people stop to take photos, enjoy the views of the river, and watch the city buzz around them. Walking or biking across the Peace Bridge is such a peaceful experience. The wide pathways feel safe and spacious, and the design allows you to appreciate the flowing water below and the skyline ahead. It’s especially beautiful during sunrise or sunset when the light plays off the red arches and the river. At night, the bridge is illuminated with soft lights that create a magical atmosphere, perfect for an evening stroll or a romantic walk. It’s clear this is more than just infrastructure — it’s public art that brings the community together. Nearby, you can explore the Bow River pathways or grab a coffee in the adjacent neighborhoods, making the Peace Bridge a great starting point for exploring Calgary on foot or bike. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, the Peace Bridge is definitely worth seeing — it combines innovative design, functionality, and beauty in one iconic Calgary landmark. I’ll be coming back again just to enjoy the views and the vibe!

It's a bridge that connects one side to the other. Very walkable area with tails. If you're lucky enough during the summer, you might come across festivals/activities happening around the area. A must see in Calgary! 🤩 ❗️Be careful of the bike lanes in the middle of the bridge. So many people walk on them and it’s very dangerous. On the other side of the bridge there is a construction going on, so the access is restricted. The neighbor around is very calm, with lots of flowers. 🌺 🌸 🌹

The Central Library, located in the East Village of Calgary, is a stunning architectural masterpiece that opened in late 2018. Designed by Snohetta and DIALOG architects, it boasts vaulted ceilings, abundant natural light, and unique features such as a steel beam time capsule and a mosaic made entirely of books. The building's facade is an ever-changing display of geometric shapes in various shades.
Came for the famous interior design. The space is large, making it easy to find a quiet corner to relax and read. Parents can bring their children to the kids’ section, and all the little ones seemed very happy. On the second floor, there is a giant chess set to play with. Walking through this building feels like an interesting journey of exploration. Unlike the overly serious atmosphere I imagined for a library, this place allows soft conversations, making the overall experience feel more relaxed and comfortable.

This is the most amazing library I have ever been in. It was beautiful, inviting and functional. There was such a great variety of seating from casual bar top seating, to comfy chairs and couches, to single tables in quiet or private spaces, to bookable rooms. Also, most tables have plugs. I was in awe. We spent so much time here and it was so lovely. It left us feeling inspired. Thank you to the city of Calgary for creating such an amazing space. It is definitely worth a visit - even if you weren’t planning on taking a book out.

Canada's Sports Hall of Fame is a remarkable tribute to the nation's athletic achievements, nestled within a sprawling 40,000-square-foot facility. This award-winning museum celebrates over 700 Canadian sports icons through an impressive collection of more than 95,000 artifacts and engaging exhibits. Visitors can immerse themselves in history with hands-on interactive displays, including touch-screen sport lessons and thrilling 3D simulations.
Today was my first time to visit the place and I had a blast educating myself on Canadian sports legacy. As a basketball fanatic I was intrigued with Dr.James Naismith works that was on display. It was very informative for me. He was a genius and now it has been a global sports. I would absolutely recommend for families especially with kids to visit and learn the rich history of Canadian sports. How I wish I could be a hall of Famer too.

Very interesting and moving, see the very detailed and well made video at the beginning of the trip really put you in the mindset to want to see and hear about all these people, even as someone who's not super interested in sports. SAIT got us into a special tour of the behind the scenes areas so we got to see all the archived collections that haven't been seen by the public yet. Very interesting, and everybody that works there were very friendly and informative. This is a very cool non-profit organization that is doing their best with what they have and deserve all the recognition.

Great facilities and exhibits, not that big, but worth checking out. Be sure to watch the movie, it plays every 30 minutes. One question, why are the Howe and Orr jerseys from 2015?

Honestly, I wanted to love this - I'd been waiting to come here since it opened. However, we were really disappointed. About 95% of the interactive exhibits were out of order, which made this really not a great place for our kids (age 3, 5 and 7). Thankfully I had a coupon to get my entire family in for $20 - even then it was a disappointing experience!

Butterfield Acres Petting Farm in Calgary is a fantastic destination for families with kids. The farm offers interactive activities such as pony rides, tractor-pulled hay wagon rides, and goat milking. During Barnyard Baby Days, visitors can meet adorable baby animals like lambs, goats, piglets, and more. Additionally, the farm hosts special events like the Fall Farm Experience in September and the Harvest Pumpkin Fest in October.
I booked the farm to come to the house for my daughter’s birthday. It was a hit. They were on time and set up was fast. They had goats, lambs, bunnies, and a pig! They were able to help bottle feed the baby goats. The staff that came was kind and upbeat with a friendly personality, they even brought a gift for her! Would recommended for a children’s birthday! ♡

Went to Butterfield Acres first time and it's a cute little farm with different animals you can pet / interact with. It is a great spot to bring kids! They have bathrooms on site, a little snack hut and hand washing stations everywhere. Tickets were 18.99 per adult, which I find overpriced for what it is but... There's some cows, tons of goats, small sheep, bunnies, miniature horses, lama, alpaca, turkeys, pigs, chickens etc. The majority of the animals for petting were goats 🐐. Something different to do and has the farm vibe in the city- located across from the Rocky Ridge YMCA.

A wonderful experience with the Billy Goat package. Easy to book. Everything went smoothly start to finish. Well cared for and loved animals. Knowledgable and friendly and organized staff. Was a great experience for all of us, and made the birthday girl feel really special too. Would rebook again in a heartbeat. Thank you!

Such a wonderful hands on experience with all different kinds of animals! I took my 2.5 year old and spent a couple hours there, easy to find, reasonably priced and a great time. Lots of fun photo opportunities too! Highly recommend!

The baby goats—so joyful, bouncy, and playful—instantly lifted my spirits and brought a genuine smile to my face. Their boundless energy and curiosity reminded me of the simple joys of youth. Butterfield Acres is more than just a petting zoo; it’s a place where memories are made, and the joys of rural life are celebrated. Whether you’re a child or just young at heart, the farm offers a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to reconnect with nature and experience the simple pleasures of farm life.

We are in town visiting from Vancouver Island and were looking for a place to spend the day with our son who has autism. Butterfield Acres Petting Farm was a wonderful place to unwind, pet some really cute baby goats and a very friendly donkey, and just a fabulous place to be still and appreciate nature. Our son had an amazing time and didn't want to leave. Thank-you for all the great memories today!
Steve L — Google review
I visited Butterfield Acres yesterday for the first time in a couple of years with my children, and it was an absolute delight. It’s rare to find a petting zoo or farm that takes such clearly thoughtful care of their animals. Every pen had enough space, clean water, and proper wallowing areas. The animals weren’t just okay — they were genuinely content. One of the most magical moments for me was in the older piglet pen. As soon as my daughter and I stepped in, we were surrounded by squeals, and within minutes, three little piglets flopped right over for belly rubs. I’ve never had that happen before, and it brought me pure joy. The piglets were completely at ease, and honestly, so were we. Pigs are incredibly intelligent, smarter than dogs in many ways, and as someone who limits pork for ethical reasons, the whole moment felt emotionally and spiritually meaningful. The goats were another highlight. Full of personality and mischief. There's one pen off to the right with a heartier breed from a different climate or region, and they are no joke. If you open that gate, be ready to chase a goat or two back in. It was chaotic and hilarious, and honestly reminded me of helping my cousins on their cattle farm as a kid. We had three kids with us — a toddler, an 8-year-old, and a 10-year-old — and all of them were safe, engaged, and had a blast. The pony rides were a hit for the two youngest, and even the almost-2-year-old was completely enthralled. What sets Butterfield Acres apart is the clear priority on animal welfare. You can feel that the animals are happy. And for me, that’s the most important thing. Human safety and fun matter too, but happy, well-cared-for animals come first. This place truly gets that. Highly recommend!!

Granary Road is such a fun place to visit with kids! 🐐🍓 The play areas are amazing — creative, clean, and full of things to explore. My kids loved the animals at the petting zoo and had a great time running around the outdoor playgrounds. The market was closed when we went on Wednesday, so we didn’t get to try the food or local products this time. Still, it’s a beautiful family spot, and we’ll definitely come back on a weekend to experience the full market!
Nancy M — Google review
Such a cute way to spend a morning or afternoon with the kids. It's like a walking path with lots of playgrounds, zip lines, petting zoo and more. I thought there would be more opportunities to buy treats around the park and I disliked the tractor ride going on the same path where kids are walking and running but the staff were very attentive and cautious. We had a fun time.

We have always loved going to Granary Road but today (August 29, 2025) was extra special. We had a lovely chat with the owners, who are such kind and caring people. The dad picked leaves and handed them out to all the children feeding the goats. We talked about the importance of family and their plan to make it an even better experience for families to come and have a magical time there. It was just such a sweet experience to meet the family behind the business. We will keep visiting granary road for years to come.

It was a beautiful place to visit for all ages. Scenery is amazing, outdoor activities are fantastic, interaction with the goat is so much fun, golfing, zipline there is a restaurant you can eat, and you can buy lots of healthy stuffs like fruits, vegetables, spices; honey and a lot more. Highly recommended.

It's well-designed to let kids burn energy while sparking their imaginations. The animals part was nice, petting the goats was a nice expirience for our little one. One thing we really appreciated was that it wasn’t overly crowded. Even on a nice day, it felt spacious and calm, which made the whole experience more enjoyable. There were plenty of food and drink options on-site too. We were able to grab snacks and drinks without long waits, and the quality was good. The gift shop at the end was a nice surprise—lots of cute, thoughtful items and souvenirs. Overall, Granary Road is a hidden gem for families. It’s clean, well-organized, and full of fun, interactive things to do. We’ll definitely be back!

This is a family favourite and such a fun learning experience for children. The farm is expansive, the staff very friendly, the outdoor shade options at each different ‘station’ is wonderful for a break from the sun for parents and children alike. Great food options inside, along with greenhouse and their new indoor discovery centre. Best to purchase tickets online in advance. Plan to go early and spend a large duration of time walking the different areas. Highly recommend bringing a wagon or stroller for the little ones and to hold food/drinks and all the necessities.

Great facility with splash park, wave pool, hot tub, sauna and kiddie pool. Fitness classes, gymnastics, rock climbing wall, skating rink, squash courts, and a top notch gym with the best equipment in the entire city. Physio and massage therapy available on the second floor. Avoid weekends if you can as it can get super crowded with family swim but the gym was quiet today. Nice and clean and parking lot was packed.

Southland Leisure Centre is a strong, multi-functional rec facility that does very well when it comes to variety and family-friendliness. It may not be pristine or cutting edge everywhere, but for what it offers, water play, slides, fitness, climbing, skating, it’s very good value. If you can go at non peak times, it’s a very enjoyable place. For families, especially with young children, it’s often go with my children. They love slide in there.

Amazing pool fun waves, fun slides and best of all a good dive tank. Lifeguards are super chill and won't call you out unless your risking the safety of someone else, I recommend for groups of people because there is so much to do. If you have a ball bring it, so much room to play and not very many obstacles.

We had a great experience at South Leisure Centre! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our kids especially loved the swimming pool — they had a blast with the fun activities available, including ninja obstacle courses, walking inside inflatable balls, and the wave feature, which was a highlight for all age groups. We usually go to Village Square Leisure Centre for the big water slides, but it’s always very crowded. South Leisure may have a smaller pool in comparison, but it offers all the same amenities in a much more relaxed and less busy environment. Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable visit, and we’ll definitely be coming back!

I only skip a star because my son and I only visit on the weekends and it is so busy. Which is a testament to how great the facility is but be prepared to wait in line. We go for the family skate on the weekends and the rink is well maintained, prices are very reasonable, and there's ample space to change in and out of your skates. I recently went for a kids birthday party and they have this great private play area you can rent out. It even has a climbing wall! Very clean and perfect for birthday parties.

5 stars for fun. This place never gets dull for my kids. Price is too high and they need to improve their AC system, especially since they are charging so much for entry. Overall, the place is in fair condition and I like that they have seats around the facility for the non jumpers to sit. I've had countless birthday parties here great for all ages! They supply room/space and table settings, so it makes things easy.

Amazing place to spend some time, either for kids or adults. I’ve to birthday parties there, and they would call your party to eat and say “let’s say happy birthday” that’s pretty fun! The area is pretty big, for running or playing hide and seek. You can get very creative with the games there. There are machines to win toys, and I put a picture of one toy that we won. They require their own socks, but you can buy it once and use it forever, so it’s not a bad deal. I’m sure you can but food there, but I’m not sure if you are allowed to bring your own. The space for celebrating birthday isn’t too big,but can be creative and used wisely. Not sure about prices - decide yourself, but it’s definitely worth going there. There is a basketball shoot area, as well as a dodgeball area which is very fun! 🤩

We had such an amazing time celebrating my daughter’s birthday at Flying Squirrel! From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming and super helpful, making everything run smoothly. The kids had a blast with all the trampolines. The party setup was perfect, with plenty of space for the kids to play and for parents to relax and watch. The food and drinks were just right, and the staff made sure everything stayed organized so we could just enjoy the day. My daughter said it was the best birthday ever. I highly recommend Flying Squirrel for parties.

We celebrated my daughter’s birthday at Flying Squirrel South, and it was absolutely fantastic! The entire experience was seamless from start to finish, and a big part of that was thanks to Yumna, who went above and beyond to make the day special. Yumna was incredible — organized, attentive, and so genuinely kind. She made sure every detail was taken care of, from setting up the party area beautifully to keeping the kids engaged and the schedule running smoothly. She checked in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed and handled everything with such professionalism and warmth. It’s not easy to keep a group of excited kids (and parents!) coordinated, but Yumna did it effortlessly. Her positive attitude and energy made a huge difference, and you could tell she truly cared about making the day memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a better host or a better experience. Thank you, Yumna, and the Flying Squirrel South team, for helping make my daughter’s birthday such a wonderful success!

Ths Good: Its fun for kids and adults & music choice was upbeat happy music. The Bad. Parents sitting in couches, no plug in for phones to do any type of work etc. Compared to Skye castle & tree house this is my last choice on the list for a big reason....Its absolutely hot, I expect it be warm inside if its about 37C outside but nope... no windows open and inside its 26 degrees.. Sitting just makes you feel sweaty on the leather couch and most people jumping takes breaks often just from the heat not lack of energy. Not sure why they cheap out on proper AC for a place that's all about running around and generating heat.

We attended a birthday party at Flying Squirrel SE Calgary, and it was such a fantastic experience! The place is full of energy and excitement from the moment you walk in. The kids had an amazing time jumping on the trampolines, diving into the foam pits, and enjoying all the fun zones like dodgeball and basketball. Everything was clean, bright, and very well organized. The birthday setup was perfect — the staff handled everything smoothly and were incredibly friendly and patient with the kids. They made sure the party ran on time, the food was served nicely, and the birthday child felt extra special. Parents could relax and watch the fun while the kids played safely under staff supervision. It was such a great celebration, full of laughter and happy memories. We’ll definitely be coming back and recommending Flying Squirrel SE Calgary for any future birthdays or family outings!

It was nice to see some of the staff goofing around with some of the kids. They do supervise closely. It would be nice if there was paper towel in the bathroomd because people shake their wet hands all over the floor and then you step in it and get your socks wet. A healthier selection of food would be nice too. But really clean and a great workout. Not too crowded when we went either.

Tried this spot while in town for a week, the staff and climbers were very friendly. Even made a climbing friend. The actual bouldering area is a little small, but they seem to make do with a smallish space. The floating boulders were so unique and the routes were definitely fun!

A friend and I took the beginners course earlier this week, the instructor was great! He did really well with explaining and demonstrating the material and within the two hour lesson the whole group was confident in using the belaying equipment without supervision. We returned a couple of days later and completed our competancy check, and we were climbing in no time! Great facility, awesome staff and it's a ton of fun! I'd highly reccomend it to anyone who's even considered recreational climbing! 5 out of 5!

I had an amazing horseback riding experience at this equestrian facility! I rode 'Queenie', a gentle giant, while my daughter fell in love with 'Penny', who she got to feed carrots to afterwards! The staff's kindness and the facility's convenience, being located in the city, made our experience even more special. Although it may not be a fancy, high-end facility, the horses' exceptional care, the instructor's excellence, and the convenient location make it a true gem. And after seeing the other one star reviews, I’m more certain about the things I find wrong with this place. The staff are very young and I don’t expect them to know much about their own work. Kids go there to learn but the staff don’t really make that happen. The horses might seem calm and gentle to people who visit and don’t have much horse experience, but others with more experience might see unhappy animals that aren’t properly cared for because of how uneducated the handlers are. If you think the service is good just because the staff might be friendly, and you think the animals are happy and well cared for, then I think you don’t know enough about keeping horses to know this in the first place. The people who run this business don’t know enough to be horse keepers, which is something that almost no one recognizes because it’s mostly people coming from the city who know nothing. How can city people tell that the staff aren’t properly caring for and handling their horses? This is a sad fact about why the business is continuing to do well. It attracts unknowing city people who can’t even recognize that the animals are poorly cared for. And kids don’t really get to learn anything. The ranch has a lot of different animals, but the owners don’t even really know much about how to keep them. And I agree with some other reviews: this place really likes to take you in boring circles a lot.

We had the best horseback riding experience in Calgary! Grace was incredibly kind and made sure we are safe the entire time, and the scenic trail was absolutely beautiful. Horses are gentle. Highly recommend....

This place is okay. The bouncy castles are fun for the kids but they seem quite old and filthy. The animals don’t seem super happy here. They have kids helmets to wear to ride the mini horses but they don’t have any spray to wash them in between uses. It’s nice that they have free coffee and hot chocolate but it would’ve great if they didn’t use styrofoam cups, something more eco friendly would be better. Staff are really friendly and the wagon ride was really fun!!

Dirty, and disorganized place. The workers there are 12~15 year old kids who just like to get in group and chit chat and not really doing work or proper supervision. They gave my child a very old horse while other kids got young horse during the camp. They were not treating everyone equally and the underaged staffs are not properly trained. If you want a good experience for your child find somewhere else. The pictures they posted are not the current place. It is totally misleading.

Terrible. I rode here some years ago, and the barn was disgusting, the arena was nothing but shavings and sawdust, making it so dusty, their bouncy castles are disgusting, all the stalls are fields are covered in feces, the hay is poor quality, the horses are thin, and the tack is fitted very poorly. Abuse.

Neglected horses. I am reporting this company to spca and the humane society to investigate for animal abuse / neglect. My wife bought a horse from them and I’m only commented on their treatment (lack thereof) of horses and not any actual experiences. As mentioned by another commenter the “stables” are in extremely poor conditions. The two horses we looked at were quite skinny and cachectic. You shouldn’t be able to see horses’ rib cages so easily but these 2 horses you could definitively see ribs. They had significant muscle loss at the hips and pelvis area. Their hooves and teeth didn’t look regularly tended too. Our suspicions of underweight / underfed were confirmed by a vet. Subjectively, the horses had very sad expressions and body language. Our horses mane and tail were extremely tangled. Judging by our horse’s caked on dirt (ie dirty even for a horse) and his huge reaction to us showering him, I am guessing he was never cleaned or very well cared for. I recognize I may sound resentful as we had bought a horse from them. In retrospect, we probably should have done more due diligence before buying the horse). That said, we love our horse and are gladly fattening him up and find comfort that he now has a much much happier life. The more time (~1 month) we spend w him the more we notice his signs of neglect and how shy and scared he is. I will echo: if you care about horses and their treatment I suggest avoiding this company or, at least, challenging them on their treatment practices of their horses.

Olympic Plaza, a former venue for the 1988 Olympic Winter Games in Calgary, has been transformed into a vibrant park with a pond and an amphitheater. The plaza is particularly popular for its seasonal ice skating rink, which becomes enchanting at night when illuminated, especially during the holiday season with a Christmas tree on display.
This is a really nice public space. Enjoy it while is still available for the public. There are events every weekend on December but not skating rink this winter. It’s a great spot in the heart of downtown and it’s a shame that they will be close it in place of an extension of another building like don't we have buildings enough already?!

“A Magical First Theater Experience!” Attending my first theater performance was truly unforgettable. The ambiance was captivating, with the dim lighting and the sense of anticipation in the air. The performers were absolutely phenomenal—each expression, gesture, and word brought the story to life in a way I had never experienced before.

This is a fantastic public space. The events all summer, the skating rink in the winter. It’s a gorgeous spot in the heart of downtown and it’s a shame to hear they will be scrapping it in place of an extension of another building. Hopefully the plan for design somehow preserves some of this spot and doesn’t erase it entirely. This is a city that spent a fortune on a blue ring on the outskirts of town though so who knows. Hoping for the best!

A beautiful park next to the city hall with multiple events throughout the different seasons from gathering to show respect, concerts, art display to staking. This also allows for some landscape viewing in between busy downtown towers. Also next to LRT and convenient to visit. Recommended to visit at day time despite the crowed.

Pretty cool the city has a park dedicated to the Olympics. Some cuties boast that they will have hosted the Olympics three times, yet don't have any parks for her local constituents to enjoy. Honestly any city that plans on sending people to the Olympics should have Olympic-sized facilities for people to train in.

We were pleased that the rink was still open! Visited 3-17-24. ⛸️ Experience Calgary's Olympic Plaza Ice Rink: Nestled in the heart of downtown Calgary, this rink exudes a captivating charm that's hard to resist. We were pleased to find that the rink was still open, offering a unique sunny skating experience. Despite the warmth and a few puddles near the edges, the opportunity to skate comfortably in t-shirts was a refreshing surprise, adding to the allure of our visit. The sheer size of the rink struck me immediately, spanning over 17,000 square feet, offering ample space for skaters of all ages and skill levels. Surrounded by towering skyscrapers and framed by the majestic backdrop of the Calgary Tower, skating at Olympic Plaza provided unparalleled city views that were simply epic. It's a fantastic way to experience the vibrant spirit of Calgary while gliding across the ice. The facilities at the rink are top-notch, with rental skates available for those who don't have their own. There are also benches and seating areas where skaters can take a break and warm up with a hot beverage from the nearby concessions. One of the highlights of our visit was discovering the rich history behind the rink. As the site of the medal ceremonies during the 1988 Winter Olympics, the Olympic Plaza Ice Rink holds a special place in Calgary's sporting legacy. It's a testament to the city's enduring passion for winter sports and its commitment to fostering a vibrant community spirit. The groundhog wall was a hit with the kids, who gleefully posed with many of them, adding an extra layer of fun and whimsy to our outing. Overall, our experience at Calgary's Olympic Plaza Ice Rink was nothing short of enchanting. Whether you're a seasoned skater or just looking for a fun outing with friends and family, this iconic rink is a must-visit destination. With its picturesque setting, excellent facilities, warm hospitality, and sunny adventures, it's no wonder that the Olympic Plaza Ice Rink remains a beloved winter oasis in the heart of Calgary. 🇨🇦 @kidstravelCanada facebook for more kid friendly outings!

There are quite a few free events at this Plaza during summertime. Also, it is a good place for your kids to run around and have fun at the wading pool when it is filled. The same area transforms into a skating ring during winter. Just be aware that you may see impaired people around.

Bowness Park, a 74-acre park in Calgary, offers a serene escape with its lagoon, boat rentals, and winter ice skating. The park features mature trees, picnic areas with fire pits and BBQ stands, a boathouse, train rides, a tea house, and two playgrounds. Families can enjoy pathways for exploration and access to the Bow River. The park also includes a wading pool with in-ground spray fountains for kids to splash around in on the pool deck.
An ideal destination for families and couples. You can enjoy a cup of coffee and ski across the expansive area or simply stroll through the park. Additionally, skiing equipment is available for rent, and a free ski helper is provided.

Bowness Park has always been our favorite Fall spot. It's so beautiful that we keep coming back every year to do our yearly fall photos. It's also a great park during summer as there is a waterpark free for kids. Also, lots of people enjoy the bow river rafting with their own rafts or rental. Some people actually go swimming too, although I'm sure the water will be too cold. Winter is also beautiful as people can ice skate along the park. You can do a walking/biking loop trail from here to Baker Park, which is very easy. You will have to pass a nice bridge that connects the river. Path is open all season. There is also a path at the end (close to the green bridge) going up to the community residential area. People walk or even bike going up there. It is now fully developed. There is a lot of squirrel in the area, which is a treat for the kids. If you need to get drinks, there's a small shop that sells beverages, which is great, especially during the winter season. I love this park as it's very spacious and has a lot to offer. Also summer time if you get lucky, there's a guy that plays music and collects donations for a few charities.

Went there with family, it was the best! Everyone enjoyed the peaceful bow river. Took a long walk and it was 100% worth it. BUT BRING SUNSCREEN AND BUG SPRAY! There are lots of mosquitoes in the season I went, so be prepared! Raft rental available! We went up a ramp and followed a trail. MUST GO ON THAT WALK! there are stairs too if you prefer. A little park with flowers and cute bear statue too! Brings back memories when I went as a kid!!!

Great place to walk around, go for a picnic and BBQ if living in Calgary! There is a boathouse as well at a very reasonable price! You can book your picnic sites by calling 311. During the fall season the views are splendid, you can do fall photography at the best here. There is a cute tiny rail for the toy train as well. Benches, picnic tables are available all around the park. You can also bring your own portable stove and cook at any available picnic table. If you are booking picnic sites then you have your own shed and fire pit to enjoy

The view there was really mesmerizing and one of the best place to witness sunset near Riverside and also a great place. Can calm your mind and also has a damn scenery in fall.

A park where you can experience a splendid summer. Despite recent issues, it's still a beautiful neighborhood. If I lived here, I would be so happy. I should come back for a barbecue later. Walking along the quiet paths, it felt like happiness would stay by my side forever. It's a great place to enjoy the leisure of everyday life. It has a different atmosphere from Bow River.

My favourite park in the city tied with Prince's Island! It's very pretty and a great place to come for a picnic, BBQ, with a boat, or just to hangout near the Bow river. I run here and it's always nice to see people having fun and existing. Great place for kids too, as there's plenty of playground areas, and even a little train for them to ride!

Located in Calgary, Village Square Leisure Centre is one of the city's popular indoor pools. With a safari theme, it features a giant water slide and a wave pool that is beyond impressive. The hot tub is also big enough for a half dozen families to soak in simultaneously.
During this visit, I went to the library briefly and then the wave pool. I have not been here for a couple of decades or more. Went on a Tuesday around 5pm. Line up to get in was quick and the staff was very friendly, with big welcoming smiles. The change rooms were as to be expected in an older pool setting. The family change rooms were kind of crowded at times. I would suggest leaving before closing time. There was a stand of lifejackets for all to use freely. The pool itself was not too crowded, with lots of chairs for non swimming family members and lots of very attentive lifeguards making sure everyone was following the rules to keep everyone safe. It was a great time with family with something for all ages and swimming levels.

Great centre with water splash park complete with water slides and wave pool. Super fun for all ages but super busy during this summers heat wave. There are basketball and badminton courts, jungle gym and registered yoga or martial arts classes at an additional charge. Weight room remains open after the wave pool closes. Check the website for hours of operations. Ladies change rooms was horrendous! On multiple days, there were food wrappers and dirt all over the floor. The bathrooms smelled of urination right on the floor and around the stalls plus nasty smell. I don’t recommend going late. Come early and it’s clean. A staff member cleaned it up after someone brought it to their attention. Parking was packed and stalls were tight. Don’t park here or your car will be scratched or dented. Bring a dollar or loony for the lockers. Returnable after use. Only a handful of lockable lockers with your own lock and it’s only in the Family change room. Update…The staff and weight room were nice and clean. Updated pics of Ladies change room at closing so come early.

Could be much cleaner and less busy, but the amenities are cool. It was $17 for two adults on a weekend. Kids 3? And under were free.

Great Spot for Families! 🌊🛝 Tons of fun for little ones with a big indoor play area that's perfect for burning energy. The two large slides are surprisingly thrilling—even for adults! The wave pool is a definite highlight and adds a fun beach-like experience. Overall, a fantastic spot to spend a few hours with kids. Clean, well-run, and plenty to keep everyone entertained!

With regards to the pool - I’m not one to get upset or really write a ton of reviews, but I’m beyond disappointed with the level of cleanliness and the standard to which this facilities is currently being kept and feel I need to express how disgusting we felt leaving the pool area after our visit today. I grew up using the village Square leisure centre and I remember it fondly, but after today I see it in a new light. We arrived in the afternoon and used the family change rooms and found them to be almost to the point where we didn’t want to continue. From poop filled diapers, vomit in the garbage cans, and hot humid change rooms, to scum and questionable bodily fluids, filth and grime throughout the entrance, it was a rough start. We found several floating items while in the wave pool and I was saddened to see the buildup, rust, and whatever was growing under the top platform of the thunder run. The general state of the pool left us wanting to immediately shower once home. Additionally I saw several people swimming in what appeared to be their street clothes while not showing prior to entering. ( I visually saw them enter the pool in their dry* street clothes). Sadly My family will be taking a break from village square. It’s not us, it’s you. Clean ya sheets, comb your hair and stand up straight. Be the majestic beauty you once were. I spoke to the manager upon leaving. He was kind and seemed to hear my concerns. He said he would look into it and I hope he did. Facilities like genesis in Airdrie and the SLS in Cochran are cared for at a visually different level leaving you feeling happy about your experience.

Village Square Leisure Centre is a great family-friendly spot in Calgary, especially known for its wave pool, water slides, and fun aquatic areas that kids absolutely love. The staff are generally helpful and the variety of activities—from swimming to gym access—makes it good value for a day of recreation. However, it can get quite crowded during peak times, and some reviewers note that change rooms and facilities could be cleaner on busy days. Overall, it’s an enjoyable place for families and groups looking for an active day out.

We hosted a 9th Birthday Party at Monster Golf and it was super fun! Really appreciated that the party rooms had a fridge and freezer. The boys all had a blast! Our only complaint was that the arcade cards that came with the party package only worked for 2 or 3 games, not quite enough to keep them entertained waiting for pickup.
Hailey F — Google review
Great atmosphere and selection of arcade games. Can get pretty busy but there is ample space for the little ones to enjoy.
Fernando G — Google review
Visited Monster Golf for the first time on a quiet Monday evening. The place wasn’t too busy, which was nice, but overall the experience was just okay. There’s only a small selection of arcade games—definitely underwhelming if you're used to places like Rec Room. The mini golf course itself felt more geared toward small children. While it was visually fun, as an adult it was a bit confusing. All the holes are connected without any real barriers, so your ball can easily roll into the next hole’s area. Not a huge deal, but definitely odd and unlike anything I’ve seen before—it left me scratching my head. All in all, it’s a decent spot if you’re looking for a low-key outing, especially with younger kids, but don't expect anything too impressive.

I hosted my kids' birthday party here with the Monster Mania package and my kids and guests had such a great time! I made multiple phone calls to ask questions before my booking, and the staff all sounded very happy and were all very helpful! During my booking, I believe I was told I would have 2 party hosts assisting us? We only had 1 on the day... But he was AWESOME! The host Lucas was patient and caring. He led multiple games while we were waiting for food to come, and managed the entire party activities so well! We had about 20 kids. I heard so many praises from our guests. Many kids didn't want to leave at the pick up time! Lol. Overall, very satisfied experience and highly recommend!

This was a great birthday party for my 4 year old son. Yuunis was our party host and he was so awesome with the kids. I do feel like they could get some better paper plates and cups and stuff to go with the theme instead of the generic paper plates and red solo cups especially for what we are paying.

This was our second time at Monster Mini Golf, and I was pleasantly surprised that they added many arcade games since the last time that we were there! This was the perfect way to spend a rainy day! The course is 18 holes, all different levels of difficulty. Lots of prizes, though I feel like the prize per ticket price is high (and the game cards are pricey but we love to support local). Washrooms were clean. Staff was very friendly! Can't wait to come back!

The center also features adult-only exhibits showcasing real evidence and photos from criminal cases, making it a compelling destination for true crime enthusiasts.
Absolutely blown away by our visit to YouthLink Calgary! This interactive museum is an incredible space to explore the world of policing, forensics, technology and the brave lives of officers and their K9 partners. We spent nearly three hours taking in every detail—it’s that immersive! The real-life stories of officers and their fight against crime were powerful and inspiring. Huge thanks to the two wonderful seniors who were there to guide and assist us—they made the experience even more meaningful. Easily one of the most informative and engaging places we’ve visited. Highly recommended!

Definitely would recommend it if you got kids/teens but likewise good for adults too. Being an interpretive museum you get to learn the history and also give it a try at how things work. I also liked that they have additional activity clipboards and markers for kids to make it more interesting for them. My teens who were not really keen on visiting a museum, were having fun trying or solving the activities. We were visiting from UK and popped over straight from the airport. We only had cabin bags which we were allowed to store while we explored the museum but am not sure if that applies for the bigger luggage. It is totally free or you can leave a donation so good if you are looking for a free or cheap thing to do with kids.

Very cool place. When we arrived I was asked if I wanted a quick introduction, I was shown where the washrooms were and general layout. We were given two different scavenger hunts to participate in. These kept my 8yo engaged and curious. Displays were ready to follow and engaging both visually and physically. You can flip through pages, press buttons, choose video clips and get things on.

My kid and I had a good time visiting. I'd say kids from 6 and up would enjoy the center the most. It's a blend of interactive activities and going through the exhibits. It did a good job teaching kids and visitors of different aspects of police work (K9, firearms, uniforms, etc.). We will likely visit again. If you are not sure where to take the kids on a rainy day, this is a good alternative for a fun, education, and inspirational trip. Just beware that it closes on Sundays.

First time visiting the Calgary Police Museum and it was fantastic. There was so much to see and read. The kids loved sitting on a police motorcycle and in a police vehicle and turning on the lights. The scavenger hunt and the videos were fun. The officers brought out 2 police dogs in training Jojo and Cali and we didn't want to leave. We will definitely go again soon.

Wow, I had no idea this place existed. I took my 5 year old during the Alberta Teacher’s strike. Unfortunately, we only had an hour to check it out - which certainly wasn’t enough time. We will definitely need to come back. The fingerprinting activity was really fun, the exhibits were very hands on, and the content was easy to make relevant for my kid. FYI, they don’t open the gate to the parking lot until 10:00 when they open. Our tickets were at 10:00, so we were a little confused as we figured out where to park.

This is amazing place which I would like to visit again and again. Modern museum with interesting tricks, stories and interactions will be suitable both for kids and adults. From exhilarating laser tag and an expansive indoor playground to a challenging climbing tower, there's never a dull moment here. Seasonal attractions like miniature golf and go-karts add even more excitement! It's also an ideal venue for birthday parties, with good food options and plenty of games that generate tickets redeemable for prizes.
We had an amazing time - would've been more enjoyable if the weather didn't get cold. Kids went crazy on the go-karts, lazer tag, bowling and rock climbing. Didn't have time for mini golf.
Shafeen R — Google review
Great place for a birthday party for children, the food and setup is pretty good. There are games and activities for kids of all ages but there are some limitations for smaller children. There is a small bowling lane, bouncy castles, laser tag and lots of little games. The games will generate tickets and you can exchange for prizes at the kiosk. Be warned Shakers tends to be "short staffed" or is easily overwhelmed when it is busy. This aside it is a great location to take your family to.
Wade S — Google review
We have been here with the kids few times now. Groupon has some good deals for family of 4. The track sometimes have longer wait, but for kids to drive themselves around it's a lot of fun. The laser tag is fun as well. Get the 2 hour arcade card, although you don't get tickets, but it's worth the $30 to have unlimited arcade fun.
Dennis K — Google review
The place has limited things for enjoyment. The laser tag room was cold. The jacket for the laser tag was just too heavy for the kids. Need smaller jackets for kids. It took too long to reload the laser gun after a shot. need faster computers etc. We were unable to try the bounce about and go cart as that area was also cold. Overall I would give them 2.5 as there is a location and some things which can be done. May visit in the summer to see if it's different or not as it failed to impress me on this my first visit.
Jason M — Google review
It's been a few years since I last visited Shakers but I went with my 2 and 4 year olds on the long weekend. I had coupons so all our admission was free. Laser tag was fun but there were only blinds, no upper level, no music playing, and kinda boring compared to the other laser tag courses I've visited. The go carts we fun but on a hot day you are waiting in the Sun, there is no shade while you're waiting. Once you're on there is a good length of time to ride. The kids go carts we a bit with the 4 year old. The climbing wall was fun for my 4 year old as well. We didn't play mini golf because it was just too hot to be outside. There is food and drinks available as well as bowling for an extra charge.
Jen M — Google review
Overall experience was great. Cool spot a birthday party. Though I would recommend more staff as we waited almost 30min for drinks. The kids love all the games and activities. I'd recommend to play arcade by time than by credit
Bella N — Google review
Great place, with something fun for everyone. You can usually find deals on Groupon that include four people with unlimited inside and outside activities for $75. We went on Mothersday and it wasnt overly busy. The appear to have some great party packages as well. I would recommend coming here for a good time with the family. We brought our 19 year old, his girlfriend, our 5 year old, and 10 month old. Everyone loved it and had a great time.

The Beach YYC is the ultimate destination for family fun and memorable gatherings in Calgary. With a sprawling 12,000 square feet of sandy beach area, it’s an ideal spot for kids to play, celebrate birthdays, or host family events. Whether you're looking to enjoy some friendly competition with volleyball or Spike Ball—equipment provided—or simply relax while your little ones explore, this unique venue has something for everyone.
Incredibly welcoming from the staff members to the community. Lots of different leagues and all skill levels are welcomed. I’ve played in the ultimate frisbee league for the last two seasons and it was a blast. Lots of parking in the lot. Great play area for kids and seating for adults to hang out (and a play to buy beverages!)
Kevin T — Google review
Visited here yesterday for the first time with my group of adults with disabilities and it was so fun. We played volleyball, made sandwiches castles, buried each other, played frisbee, and did relay races. The only comment I would make is it’s a little dark in there, but we still had the best time.
Eric M — Google review
I really didn't expect the sand to be so soft. There are sections that are dry and wet, so it's easier for kids to build sand castles. Also happy with the shower facilities. I just needed to be able to hose down the children before getting back in the car, and it did the trick.

Had a great experience playing a volleyball tournament at the Beach YYC this weekend. Everything went really smoothly and ran on time which can be tough for any sports tournament. Special thanks to Linda for that! Great people and quality volleyball.

It's an excellent place to have the kid's birthday party. It's fun for them to play in the sand, the staff it's friendly, and they have activities for the kids. Also suitable for playing sand volleyball indoors. There's no water. It's only a giant sandbox. Recommended.

Really nice and clean. We appreciate having an indoor place to bring our baby to when its hot outside. Staffs were very helpful and welcoming!

Cool and unique space! Pretty centrally located and plenty of parking outside. Went here for a friend’s birthday gathering on a Saturday afternoon - there was probably about 20 of us and we used 2 courts for a few games of volleyball and some Spike Ball, which they provide all the equipment for. There were a few tables for spectating and cubbies for your things just off the court. Was a little cold inside, but you warm up quickly as you start playing. The court area looked like it could use a bit more TLC in terms of finishing, but not a huge deal. Would love to go back again, as the staff at the front mentioned they do a kids free play a few times in the week.

With well-maintained facilities including showers, picnic tables, change rooms, and even a playground for the little ones, Sikome Lake ensures an enjoyable day out.
Sikome lake is a serene and beautiful place for relaxation and fun. It features beautiful playgrounds for kids, a lake you can swim in, open field have picnic and play fun games. There's a very large washroom and changing room that is neat with running hot water and cold water. There's a large canopy to provide shade and trees also that provide shade.

It is summertime and my go-to place with my dogs for a swim n walks. Have spots for BBQ, hikes, and bicycle rides. Dogs on leash and people very polite/friendly and dogs well behaved. Also a gold course across and people also fish here

The best decision on a hot day was to go to the lake with the children after lunch. The lake is not deep. Lifeguards carefully monitor the swimmers. There are trees, you can hide from the sun. There is a changing room, toilets, the territory is clean.

People with no manners display their own loud boom box music. No control on it. You cannot enjoy the calm environment that a family friendly place should provide. Also disrespectful and nature unconsidered person parked on the grass ruining it, as well.
WAM B — Google review
Situated in the monumental 1,355.56-hectare Fish Creek Provincial Park, surrounded by fence and spread into 40-hectare area, Sikome Lake, is a manmade aquatic facility that is popular among Calgarians. The 2.1-meter-deep lake receives its water supply from three fresh water wells. The seasonal lake is open to the public only for a little over two months from June end to the first week of September. It is thronged by thousands of visitors on weekends. Besides the lake with colossal sandy beaches and grassy areas, the beautiful place has a lot more to offer. There are children’s playgrounds and designated picnic areas with firepits, a food outlet, and washrooms. The parking area is unbelievably enormous which is spacious enough to park innumerable number of vehicles, for free. The entry fee of just $10.00 for a family of 2 plus 4 children is as good as nothing compared to the exhilaration that you get at this amazing picnic spot that is full of various aquatic and terrestrial activities for all people, irrespective of their age, gender, or interest. A must visit place for Calgarians in the natural environment of the Fish Creek Provincial Park.
Bharat S — Google review
The lake is closed for the season and there is no information about it anywhere, if you don't open in early summer, put an announcement about it, or add a review about it, so that no one drives 40 minutes across Calgary to you. kissed the fence and left.

I took 5 kids there on Tuesday and the kids all came out in Swimmers itch, cried and itched for about 3 hours, gave them allergy medicine and a bath in baking soda and the itch wasn't so intense, but definitely think twice about going there. However, we have been a few times every year for about the last 5 years and never experienced this, I really hope management can clean out the lake a few more times a year, so others don't experience this.
Chloe H — Google review
First time here, felt a little weird to pay to go to a lake but then I realized why, beautiful sand beach surround the lake. Plus it is man made so it is cleaner than typical lakes. The prices are not bad. $8 for an adult and family was $18 I believe. Free life jackets to borrow for the little and non swimmers. Great escape in the city.

Nestled in the southwest community of Wildwood, Douglas Fir Trail is a picturesque pathway connected to Edworthy Park. This tranquil trail offers a serene riverside experience alongside the Bow River, with panoramic views of lush valleys and the city skyline. The hike through Douglas fir trees is ideal for nature enthusiasts and bird-watchers, providing a peaceful escape within the city. The trail can be accessed from two entrances, offering opportunities for trekking and exploration.
Beautiful secluded trail through a deciduous forest area down to Bow River, highly recommended! Note: Only the South-Eastern part is accessible at the moment (2024), the North-Western part is closed. I recommend the following route: From Cedar Crescent SW, go into Quarry Rd Trail, and right there is the South start of Douglas Fir Trail (you will see a sign with a map where it starts). Then enjoy the trail all the way to the point where it's closed (you cannot miss it, it's closed with a locked gate/fence). That takes around 50min to an hour. Two things to look out for on the way: Don't cross the railroad tracks the very first time you encounter them; that's a shortcut, you'd miss out on much of the trail. And right before the closed off part, you can take an extra loop up the hill (wooden stairways), which is a nice extra. Right at what's now the end of the trail, there is a designated railroad crossing, which leads you directly to the river. There's also a good spot to dip your feet in the water. Then just walk along the river South-East, which takes another 30-50min. You can then go south, past the golf course, and you'll end up at Shaganappi Point Station. It's an easy but beautiful walk through a diverse landscape. Hiking shoes are not necessary, but definitely don't bring anything on wheels (bike or buggy); the trail can get a bit steep and narrow at times. Recommended for people of all ages.
Fabian R — Google review
Lovely trail, part of it was closed when I was there in the end of May. Great views of the city and surrounding areas. Hard for a baby stroller in some areas, but good exercise for little kids and dogs. Lots of flowers and birds singing, heard the trains more than a few times when walking the trail.
Jay A — Google review
Great hike! One of the best if you want to lose weight, gain endurance and get toned. Lots of stairs and boardwalk. Lots of berries and flowers. Very popular place. Remember to take bugs spray and water. We usually choose this trail in a hot and sunny day. The whole trail is shaded and feels cool on a hot day .

The best hike in Calgary! Many people who have lived here for years had no idea it even existed. I bring new people here all the time, and everyone enjoys all its nuances. Its maximum elevation is 200ft, with plenty of ups, downs, stairs, ropey paths, small creeks, rocks, twisty paths, etc. You will get tired! The hike from the East entrance (Edworthy Park) all the way to where you cross the train tracks takes about 1.5 hours at a leisurely pace. Then you can walk back along the river and through the Lawrey Gardens to end right back at Edworthy Park. It’s about 3 hours in total if you take your time. Trust me you will need a couple breaks in between. One of the best parts about the hike is the elevated lookout point. You have an amazing view of the Bow River, Edworthy Park, Children’s Hospital, and Shaganappi Trail. Bring the camera! Remember to bring water and go to the bathroom before you depart, otherwise you won’t get a chance till you get back. And don’t forget to have some ice cream at Angels Cafe as a reward afterwards! LOL. Highly recommended! NOTE: the path after the lookout is currently closed for safety evaluation but it’s still a fun short hike up until that point.

A fun little inner city hike and adventure! Sadly parts are now closed. Still worthwhile though. It is so neat that it’s in the city. Really nice viewing, wooden bridges, and waterfalls. At the viewpoint you can see a cool view of the city.
Maggie M — Google review
This is a must-do trail within the city as it provides amazing views over the Bow River near the Children's on Foothills Hospital. However, the trails are not very intuitive as there's no signs and a bit of a makeshift Trail however once you get to the stairs, there are signs showing that it is now closed for repairs. Some people still go, but the stairs and railings are very worn out and not stable, so hikers beware.
Kevin W — Google review
This trail is a gem! I visit often and it's a wonderful escape into nature without leaving the city. The sounds of the birds combined with the occasional passing train create a unique and peaceful atmosphere. My dog loves it too

Visitors praise the well-maintained facilities and beautiful surroundings, both indoors and outdoors. My wife and I have gone here twice now for their craft market and have enjoyed it both times. I recommend their events as they are always fun and recommend going here if you would like to take their language courses.

If you're on the lookout for a delightful spot where your little ones can unleash their energy, TommyKplay is definitely worth considering. This charming facility may not be the largest in town, but it offers a well-organized space filled with engaging activities that kids adore. With friendly staff and clean equipment, parents can feel at ease while their children explore.
Wonderful play area for the kids. Fair price. Parents are free. Lots of fun stuff to do. Lazer maze. Baby area Lots of fun tunnels and acrobatic things to climb through. Fun for the parents too! If you can keep up....

The kids have fun here. Large climbing structure and slides. Laser game and mini carts are fun. There is a baby pit for toddlers. Decent enough section for the parents to watch from. Snack bar is decently stocked but pricey. Eat before you go!

I have a 3 year old son and 1 year old daughter. They genuinely love this place. It's not the biggest facility for kids in the city, but what they do have, they manage well. The staff is friendly, the prices are fair, and the equipment is kept clean. There is a separate play area for the extra small kiddos to enjoy and not have to worry about getting knocked over by the bigger kids. They also have a snack bar and plenty of seats for parents to relax. Honestly, TommyKPlay deserves 5 stars, but the play area and equipment is a bit limited. Either way, your kids will love it, so don't pass them up.
Nick B — Google review
Kind of pricey for parents that are just watching but great place for the kids. Lots of space to run around and play. Also a specific area for toddlers which is great for the little ones.
Monique C — Google review
Play area ok but staff were not helpful. We had a birthday party here and it was not a very busy day which was nice when you have to keep track of a bunch of kids. We were a small party so things generally went smoothly. But at no time did the host/hostess ever make themselves known to us. When we needed a knife and plates for the cake I had to go to the front desk to ask for some. They were nice enough to have some extra candles for us. Also the laser game was always frozen and their video game console has never worked. It's not like they have a lot of activities so it's pretty lame that they leave these unfixed. It's not going to stop us from coming because there is nothing else close around but just be aware that the service is not stellar.

The Calgary Stampede is a renowned annual rodeo festival that takes place in a festival space hosting various shows, live music, entertainment, exhibits, and food stalls. This non-profit organization also offers year-round events like exhibitions, galas, concerts, conferences and rodeos. The festival aims to preserve western heritage and culture while engaging the community through youth initiatives and programs.
It is an amazing 10-day event that takes place every year in July!! It contains fair food, rides, exhibitions, concessions, and so much more! The preferred mode of transport to get to this event would be the c-train as it is much easier to get to and from the grounds to. Parking is available around the grounds. However, it is usually very full/busy and expensive as well. Although it is a super busy venue to attend, there is always something for everyone to do. The kids love the fair games, winning prizes and riding the endless selection of rides. I have attended since I was a child with my family, and it is something I look forward to every year. A "Calgarian tradition" for sure. A great place to spend a day or a few, there's a vast availability of fair foods such as corn dogs, corn, ice cream, fries, lemonade, and so much more!
Rose — Google review
It could have been just the time of your but it was really difficult to get to this event. Many of the streets were closed. We could not get an Uber anywhere. Could not get taxis. The facility itself was decent inside with a good selection of food. The seeding in the stands a bit tight in places didn't appear. It was built with adults with semi-limited ability to get in and out of the area.

Stampede is awesome! Coming for 2 years now and loving it. Such amazing human energy, concerts, and multitude of things to do. Cows, tanks, food, drinks, music, cowboy hats, gotta love it.
Vasily R — Google review
The main advice for everyone coming next year: make sure to grab an event map at the entrance. There are many free activities besides the Rodeo, but you won’t find them easily if you don’t know where and when they take place. The Stampede is always crowded, but it’s not only about the Rodeo and food.
Маrina D — Google review
If you haven't been to the Calgary Stampede, you need to go, at least once. Billed as The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth you'll want to take in the music (Country of course), food, drinks, rodeo, midway rides, and don't miss the Grandstand Show. No expense spared for the best fireworks display I've seen to end the show. Food wagon options include what you may expect at a fair. Some creative combo's along with the expected, such as a smoked Turkey Leg. (a bit pricey at 33.00). Be prepared for line ups and crowds. Advance purchase of admission tickets eliminates at least 1 line. You'll have a great time if you take in some of this 10 day event, and don't forget your Cowboy hat!
Rudy E — Google review
Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth..actually. The rides were so much fun and the showcases in the BMO Centre were awesome. The food stands around the Stampede were amazing but were highly expensive. Getting here was so bad via CTrain, it is so crowded that they couldn’t let people in because it was packed. It was also crowded in Stampede Park of course due to the tourist influx and because it was first day. It was so much fun exploring every inch of the park, one must go to the stampede at least once every time. Would I go back? Definitely. 8/10.

The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland is a must-see destination located at the original site of Fort Calgary, which was built in 1875 by the North West Mounted Police. This historic park offers visitors a chance to explore the birthplace of Calgary and learn about its rich history through comprehensive exhibitions and guided tours. The replica fort and adjacent barracks have been reconstructed using tools and techniques from the 1880s, providing an authentic experience for visitors.
Visited as part of a school field trip, the staff did a great job keeping the kids busy and engaged while teaching them about our local history. The practice archeology bins were a hit with the students and taught them to think critically about the artifacts they uncovered. The indigenous games gave everyone a chance to connect with the kinds of activities that people their age would have done centuries ago. The scavenger hunt through the museum was a great way to ensure the students examined every nook and cranny of the exhibits. We will be sure to visit again when the upgrades are complete!

I recently went on a private trip with students that turned out to be an incredible experience. We had the opportunity to explore significant historical sites, uncovering captivating narratives that underscored the links between our past and present. This journey deepened our understanding of the region's heritage. Throughout the trip, the knowledgeable workers were helpful, answering our questions and enriching our experience.

The historic house wasn’t very big, and when we visited, it was quite crowded due to a festival. It was interesting to see, but definitely not something you’d spend a lot of time in. Parking was available but quite expensive. There’s a lovely park right next to it, which made the visit more enjoyable. The area is nice for a short walk and some photos. It’s a decent place to visit once if you’re nearby. Overall, a one-time experience—not something I’d return to.

Formerly known as Fort Calgary, this is a quaint museum showcasing not just the city's history but also Alberta. It's a different take from the Glenbow as it's more niche so will be enjoyable for history buffs, tourists and homegrown Calgarians alike. After 20 years, The Confluence finally got an indigenous art exhibition curator, Star Crop Eared Wolf, for the opening of Kípaitápiiyssinnooni [Our Way of Life]. When we visited the space for the art opening, it was quite exciting to see the different works of art on display. The film showing during the weekday was also very thoughtful-- I wish more people would come and watch! The only points of improvement for me would be the following: 1. Food vendors (I had 4 hungry kids with me and they kept bugging me to leave so we can go grab proper meals, which were not available on site); and 2. Paving the gravel parking lot a bit more because holy cow, those things destroyed my stiletto heels when I had to run to my car whilst hail was pummeling the ground 😑 Overall, it's an amazing venue for cultural experiences but make sure you have a big meal prior to the visit. Cheers!

Nestled within the Heritage Park Historical Village, Gasoline Alley Museum is a haven for vintage car enthusiasts and photography aficionados alike. The museum showcases an array of pre-1950s cars, old-fashioned gas pumps, and retro signage that exudes a nostalgic charm. Stepping into this space feels like entering a time capsule of industrial design from the 20th century, with neon lights illuminating classic automobiles and captivating tin advertisements.
Extremely well maintained museum. Vehicles polished to perfection and the gas pumps were immaculate. Parking was free for stays 90 mins and under, so that was a bonus. $15 per adult to get in - which was reasonable, however we were done the entire museum in about 3/4 of an hour.

For someone that enjoys a good niche museum every so often, it is a must visit. One of the volunteers explained the whole gas refining process historically and I found it super informative. The interpreters were also super helpful and I definitely walked out having learned something. I feel like I would have benefited from having a little more signage around as I found myself having to ask interpreters questions if I wanted to learn about most things at the exhibit. Like I said above tho, I would definitely come back. I’m sure it’s an even cooler experience when Heritage Park is open too !!

Yes we really did love this museum. It started very well for us , because no sooner had we stepped into the museum when we were greeted by a volunteer helper. He realised we were British and he started to talk about the owner. His name was Ron Carey and he died on the veteran car rally in GB. We realised this as we remembered the crash making the headlines in GB. The volunteer was full of interesting facts many not publicly displayed. Anyway you should see them displays of beautiful cars , but the petrol pumps were even more beautiful. Rows and rows of them. In addition to a Western style town with staff dressed for that era. Old fashioned amusing park , which really was a scream ( see videos). Plenty of restaurants and lots of walking. Some animals too too . So much there. My only criticism would be that two of the major rides , the train and the ferry were closed but the admission prices remained the same.

Gasoline Alley at Heritage Park is an absolute gem for anyone who loves vintage cars and history! 🚗💨 Walking through the museum, we can see beautifully preserved vehicles from different eras, each with its own story.
Tikoko — Google review
To go to Gasoline Alley you need to pay for parking and admission into the park. Go early enough to see the cool cars and the rest of this amazing park! Gasoline Alley has lots of knowledgeable staff on both levels to answer any questions.

Really neat museum chock full of old automotive items. So fun to see that the cars and artifacts are so well preserved. Well worth a visit
Gary G — Google review
This is a very nice museum. Lots of gas pumps and vintage cars. You are allowed to sit in 2 of the vehicles to take pics- just look out for the ones with stairs to enter into. There is a nice little children’s area to play and dress up in fun clothes too. Be sure to check out the lower level as it had more beautiful cars, trucks and gas pumps!! This is a very clean, well kept museum. It’s worth the trip!
C M — Google review
During my visit to the Gasoline Alley Museum at Heritage Park in Calgary, I was absolutely blown away by the depth of history, the stunning vintage exhibits, and the unique opportunity to step back into an era that shaped the automotive industry and daily life in Canada. If you have any interest in cars, history, or simply appreciate a well-curated museum experience, this is a must-visit destination. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by an incredible collection of beautifully restored vintage cars, trucks, and gas pumps, all arranged in a way that made the exhibits feel vibrant and alive. The museum’s attention to detail is impeccable, from the gleaming chrome on the vehicles to the colorful, nostalgic signage that lines the walls. It felt like stepping into a time capsule of the early 20th century, and I couldn’t help but take tons of pictures—every corner of the museum is so photogenic! The vibrant colors, intricate designs, and historical artifacts provided endless inspiration for my camera, and I’m thrilled to have so many memories captured. One of the highlights for me was learning about the evolution of fuel stations and the culture surrounding car travel during that era. The interactive displays, like the restored service station and the recreated vintage diner, added an extra layer of immersion and charm. It wasn’t just about cars—it was about the lifestyle, the stories, and the innovation that went along with them. The museum staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to share anecdotes or answer questions about the exhibits. Their passion for preserving and sharing this history was evident and made the experience even more enriching. What I loved most was how the museum appeals to visitors of all ages. Families with children seemed just as captivated by the interactive elements as history buffs were by the detailed displays. The museum strikes a perfect balance between being educational and entertaining. In addition to the exhibits, the museum is well-organized, with plenty of space to wander without feeling crowded. It’s easy to lose track of time as you explore, but the experience is so engaging that it’s worth every minute. Tips for Visitors: • Bring a camera or phone with plenty of storage—there are countless photo-worthy spots! • Take your time reading the plaques and displays; there’s a lot of fascinating information that adds depth to the visual experience. • Visit early in the day if you want to avoid crowds, especially on weekends. The Gasoline Alley Museum is more than just a collection of vintage cars—it’s a celebration of history, innovation, and the culture of a bygone era. I left with a deeper appreciation for the ingenuity of the past and plenty of beautiful photos to remember the day. I can’t wait to visit again! Highly recommended for anyone visiting Heritage Park or looking for a unique and memorable museum experience in Calgary.

Calgary Farmers' Market South is an indoor marketplace located just off Blackfoot Trail and Heritage Drive. It features over 80 vendors offering locally-sourced produce, handmade crafts, and homemade products. Visitors can explore a variety of items including fresh seasonal produce, meats, poultry, fish, baked goods, organic products, jewelry, clothing and more. The market also hosts events such as chef-guided tours and kids cooking classes on weekends.
Visiting the Calgary Farmers’ Market on a sunny Saturday in May was the perfect way to kick off summer! The place was buzzing with energy—fresh fruits, vibrant vegetables, quality meats, handcrafted goods, and so many delicious food options. I loved the variety and the local feel of it all. Whether you’re shopping for your kitchen or just out to enjoy a relaxed weekend stroll with good eats, this market has something for everyone. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Calgary!
Olo O — Google review
A local friend brought me here to take a look. The prices at the stalls are a bit higher than those at regular supermarkets, even though the produce comes directly from the farms. Still, many people are happy to spend here as a way to support the farmers.
Judy H — Google review
Good one to visit during weekends. I find this kid friendly. Quite a bit of eating options. Vegetables are slightly priced higher than outside market ( may be because these are from farms - organic)
Sury M — Google review
I volunteered at a food bank event held by the farmer's market. The market is very engaged with the community, and I had a great time trying some of the delicious, healthy food. I even bought some fresh vegetables and fruit! They sell homemade and organic produce, and the quality is excellent. If you're a first-time visitor, I'd recommend checking their hours before you go.
Junhong C — Google review
It was good, I think most produce and goods are organic hence the prices. They had variety of dine options which was good. They had icecream, coffee, Thai food etc . I got there 4:50pm so I couldn’t try anything. In my opinion, they close too early at 5pm on weekdays. I also wanted some fresh seafoods and I didn’t find lots of options. Live crabs can be pre-ordered though.. bananas are like $1.27/lb. Overall it was an OK experience.
Sherifat A — Google review
Returned to this farmers market after a long hiatus and was pleasantly surprised at the diversity of products available here. A vast array of fresh produce from local growers as well as BC fruit was on display. I would say that the quality of almost all the products that I looked at was quite high as were the prices listed with them. The area of the market that I found reasonable prices was in the food court area. I believe that there were no less than 2 dozen food vendors and believe me that some of the freshly served food here was exceptional... A special shout out to Margaritas for their amazing Eastern European cuisine. I had a plate of cabbage roll, perogies w/bacon, bratwurst w/sauerkraut, and steam veggies for about $18..... Each item on the plate was Amazingly Good! Bottom Line: 8.5 out of 10

If you’re visiting the area, I highly recommend checking out Chippy Dude!🌹🌹 They specialize in fish and chips, and honestly, it was the best I’ve ever had. Everything was incredibly fresh, crispy, and absolutely perfect I’ve never had fish and chips like this before. One of the best parts is that instead of the usual fries, you can choose your own side. I chose the sweet potato croquette, and it was just perfect. Make sure to try the coleslaw too it’s the freshest and most flavorful I’ve ever tasted. Also, don’t miss out on their signature shrimp burger! The owner recommended it, and I’m so glad I tried it the patty is packed with whole, juicy shrimp. If you’re anywhere nearby, this place is a must visit!

We checked out the Calgary Farmer’s market South and had a great afternoon there. It’s not as big as the west market, but it has lots of great produce and food to enjoy from many different nationalities. Take a stroll around first before you decided what to buy. There are tasty looking desserts as well. I had the sumo ramen at Oishidesu Ramen Shack. It was delicious, hot, and rich, with tasty chicken, pork, beef and half a poached egg. The broth was great and you can choose the level of heat. I also had the Takoyaki which were excellent as well. My wife had the cod burger and potato croquet’s at Chippy Dude. It was huge, hot and crunchy and had nice crispy lettuce. The croquettes were tasty too. All in all, a great market with excellent food, lots of butchers, bakers and many other vendors from spices to alcohol.

Lougheed House National & Provincial Historic Site is a 19th-century mansion and museum located in Calgary. Originally built as a residence for the Lougheed family, it now serves as a public historic site and museum. The house has undergone various transformations over the years, including being used as a center for young women, women's military barracks, and even a blood donor clinic.
It was lovely! We went for High Tea on a Sunday after church. The house is so characteristic of it's era with the high ceilings, the beautiful wood beams and walls, curved staircases and stained glass windows. The food was presented so nicely and delicious. The selection of teas was perfect. I had the mango pear tea. It's nice to keep such history as part of Calgary's heritage alive. There aren't many historical houses left like that in Calgary. It reminded me of my Grandma's house in Hillhurst area when I was a little girl.

I love this museum. I really have a good time knowing about the history of Alberta. I went there during Christmas, however the staff said depending of the season they change the decoration. The museum has a small vintage shop where you can get some sourvenirs

We liked this place, especially interiors, which is so beautiful with antique furniture telling the stories of how people were living back then there is also a history of the Logheed family. I was really inspired by her wife personality. Great venue for small event or date night.

This was a very nice museum, but definitely overshadowed by Heritage Park. The staff were very friendly, and the house itself was well cared for. There was a great number of historic artifacts in the museum, and the front terraced lawn is very beautiful.

Nestled in the heart of Calgary, Reader Rock Garden is a historic and picturesque site that offers a stunning backdrop for weddings and elopements. The garden features charming gazebos, little waterfalls, and intricately designed landscapes that make it perfect for capturing memorable moments. As a designated provincial historic site, it pays tribute to William Roland Reader's legacy as the superintendent for Calgary Parks.
Beautiful to walk through on an early autumn afternoon. Lots of little pathways with stepping stones amongst the trees that feels like a secret garden. A favourite and quiet spot just south of busy downtown. You can access it from Union Cemetery, and Union Cemetery is accessible from it.

Nice little garden. Some flowers look dry probably have suffered from the recent water restrictions in Calgary. The parking lot is small. I liked the benches around the park where you can seat around the flowers. I would totally visit again!
Laura G — Google review
Easily one of the most stunning and peaceful spots to visit in inner city Calgary in the summer time. An absolute must for plant and flower lovers. The space is very scenic and historic, next to a very beautiful and also historic Calgary cemetery. Also convenient being next to the stampede grounds.
Michael G — Google review
Visited the location this time for an outdoor photo shoot. The photographer was great and had a good eye for creating a story. We paused the session a couple of times to watch the butterflies, appreciate some beautiful flowers in bloom and sit when we climbed up hill to get a particular (and well worth it) view. I liked the movable benches located in some areas, the calming sound of water flowing over rocks and the tiny signs describing either the plants or history of different areas in the park. I stayed behind after the session to enjoy the park a little more and came across some hikers and a couple that looked to be on a date.
Oseyi J — Google review
Wonderful and peaceful alpine slide with many colorful species of plants. We were there in June, and the park was full of blooming flowers. Unfortunately, it's a really small place.
Artemii P — Google review
Lovely little garden in inner city and it's FREE! It suggests an hour to walk through the entire grounds which is relatively accurate depending on how much time you sit and rest or scrutinize over the type of flowers planted. Great place to get away while not leaving the city or for someone who loves gardens.

Carburn Park, situated along the Bow River, is a sprawling natural area with three man-made ponds that attract a diverse range of wildlife and offer opportunities for recreational activities. Originally part of Senator Patrick Burns' prairie empire, the park features trails for hiking and picnicking areas set amidst picturesque surroundings. Visitors can enjoy non-motorized water sports like canoeing and paddle boating in the summer, as well as ice skating in the winter.
Very nice park, so much natural greenery. Great walking trails by the Bow river. You can go for a nice walk or sit on the bench and relax.

Summer time kayak and SUP, surrounded by birds of all kinds, cycle/walking paths, picnic areas and benches. Today we brought our SUP and launched off 1 of 2 docks on the round-about lake. There is another lake but no docks - readily accessible by any floating device. Kayak rentals are available onsite and today there was a wood burning pizza oven food truck (delicious - bought 1!) So much to do at this hidden gem; nestled along the Bow River and wildlife refuge area.
Leanne T — Google review
I visited this lake-front natural and manicured park at two pm on a week day in April when the weather was still cold. Although there were not flocks of people, there were a significant number of people doing activities like walking, walking with their furry friends, cycling, and jogging. (boating and skating are not available at present.) The park, established 38 years ago, has two lakes or huge ponds, created by channelizing the Bow River, wrapped by a paved trail. There is a forest with thousands of trees all along the trail. There are tens of benches all along the trail, picnic tables at some places, and a gazebo. Also, there are some other unpaved and winding trails and beaten paths, for those who like to explore more. Furthermore, there are Bow River Pathway and Trans Canada trail. The parking lot is not immense; nevertheless, on a busy day. you may park your vehicle on the nearby streets, for free. Over all, this is a well-maintained, good natural park for the dwellers of south east area of Calgary for a variety of activities, watching birds, and wildlife.

Such's an amazing park. Feeling the beatiful Bow River, the nice lake and comfortably trail. An ideal location for all season, but Summer time is good and great place for kayaking, biking, BBQ, photoshoot some wildlife.. (We caught a deer 🥰) Peace at heart 🙏❤️

Very nice trail that wraps around a pond. The reflections of the trees are beautiful. Not too busy. The path is paved. The day I went was foggy and it was extra special. Parking lot is a bit small, but you can also park on the street nearby. There are a lot of dogs at this park. Deerfoot Trail is across from the park and can be noisy some days.
Lisa — Google review
This is an amazing park if you enjoy hiking, walking, biking or adventures. It's like a forest but with hiking trails. You can walk around the water spots and even kayaking there. It's better to visit the park with a group as it will be a great adventure and you should save each others backs from bugs. Yes, bugs is the only problem in this place as you will find tons of then every where, so be prepared for that. There is washing room next to the entrance, and I think that you should use it at the beginning as it will be a long walk if you want to see every spot of this park. I recommend visiting it with family, friends and relatives and bigger groups is better than few members.
Ehab K — Google review
Amazing park lots of benches to sit. Two ponds with boating and canoeing. Rental services available but was closed when we visited, but you can bring your own as there is a nice launching station as shown in pics. Nice trails around both ponds and few unpaved trails leading to bee hotel kids loved it. Nice view of river looking over Ikea and ample parking space. One unique thing about this park was wild life lots of birds, ducks, deers, sparrows etc plus few of them were labled so kids can easily identify. Lots of shaded and unshaded picnic benches. Over all great park must visit. Check out videos and images and follow for more.

This was our first time here and it was a lot of fun. The food was better than I expected as well. I thought the staff was doing great with all of the birthday parties and chaos. It is easy to have sensory overload at this place, even when in the dining area but it is also a fun atmosphere.

The Rec Room is one of my favourite places to go when looking for an activity for adults. We came on a Monday which was nice and quiet, didn't have to wait for games and the servers were ready to help us. They added some new games upstairs since the last time we came and they were a blast. My spouse quite enjoyed the putting green, it malfunctioned a bit but someone was there right after we finished to fix it.

Had lots of fun. Went to a comedy show (the comedians were not that funny) and played some games. The VR arcade games were awesome. You can also show off in front of your spouse with the throwing accuracy games, or show her you can't hit anything at 5 feet. Either way its fun. Really nice atmosphere in the bar area. I like that you can order alcohol as you play games. Very unique place. I will go again.

Good food for what it was. Nachos were ok - calamari was such a tiny serving barely tried it with our group. Wife had the steak and shrimp and enjoyed it. I had the crispy chicken sandwich. Really good. Vudeo Games, pool and toy games obviously a great time for kids to enjoy and parents to relax a bit. Bought the kids cards and they went at it. Service and management was on top of everything. Good service and quick. Great spot for families as a bit of everything for everyone.

Flowing from the Canadian Rockies, the Bow River is a popular choice for paddlers of all skill levels. With Class II rapids and 587 kilometers of water to explore, it offers a picturesque setting to spend a weekend enjoying Alberta's natural beauty. The river also boasts numerous campsites along its banks, particularly near Calgary in Southern Alberta. Renowned for its blue ribbon waters, the Bow River attracts fly fishermen from around the world with its abundant rainbow and brown trout population.
We were heading to Lake Louise and saw this Lake from the Parkway. The color was quite amazing so we made a few stops along the way. We were thoroughly enjoying the Canadian Rockies as they are magnificent. The peaks of Mt. Rundle and Mt. Cascade, part of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, dominate its skyline.
