Park
Prairie Winds Park, located in Northeast Calgary, underwent a significant $11.9 million renovation completed in 2017, making it a must-visit destination for families. The park boasts an array of amenities including basketball courts, cricket pitch, fitness stations, and an impressive playscape with a zip line and water features like a lazy river, spray park, and wading pool.
I love to visit this spacious park whenever I find leisure time. It's best for walking and jogging. Kids also enjoy it. I will say, it's one of the best parks in Castleridge.
Rashda K — Google review
Had the most amazing experience at the park, the view from the top of the hill is just wow. I would really just want you to take a stroll and a hike around the park, you will feel the beauty of nature around you. The kids play area near the main hill is also very good. It's just great 😃
Varun P — Google review
Prairie Winds Park is a fantastic spot for a fun day out, especially with its excellent splash pad that kids absolutely love. The park is clean, well-maintained, and offers plenty of space for families to relax and play. However, the pool was closed during our visit, which was a bit disappointing, especially on a very hot day when we expected a lot of people. Despite this, the splash pad and other amenities still made it an enjoyable experience. Overall, a great place to cool off and have fun, but it would be even better if the pool were open.
Lionel I — Google review
Great park, but can get busy on a weekend or when there are school events thats when I will avoid it as there can be a whole lot people especially in the paddlepool. The park also has a nice kids play zone which has slides, swings, zipline and more. There is a nice hill that you can climb for a good view of the city there are ice cream and food truck. The park is well maintained with nice flowers all around. Parking is enough but again can be limited on a busy day. Washrooms had change room & stand up showers and were well kempt again depending on the amount of people in the pool area. Ther is a splash park and outdoor shower zone. There are ample picnic benches both shaded and unshaded. Over all kids had a lot of fun. Prarie wind park has all that you need playground, splash park, paddle pool, basketball, soccer, cricket & tennis court, trails, hill with nice view, picnic benches, washrooms, parking & more. Check out videos & images & Follow for more.
Vids T — Google review
We were only here for a short time, wow, what an amazing park. Cool large playground, cricket field, water park etc. Pathways are well maintained and you get a good view of the airport runway from the top of the hill. What a neat place. A little bit for almost everyone.
Granden B — Google review
This park has it all for everyone in the family. It has a huge wading pool, a tennis court, basketball courts, a zip line, a splash pad area. Lots of walking trails and a hill that's a good work-out to walk up and down and is especially great for tobogganing in winter. Has lots of benches to sit and relax and several gazebos with benches and tables. The kids love the park.
Patrick M — Google review
This is an amazing park to bring the kids on a hot day! The wading pool is clean and large enough to accommodate a crowd. Get here early to assure a good spot on the grass in a shaded area. I definitely will be bringing the kids back and recommend this area to others!
NADENE W — Google review
My family has spent fun time together in the park every summer since they opened. It is clean and has big capacity for about 200 people. But you should come early to claim the best space around the pool. There is a splash area, washrooms, and change rooms near the pools. When done with swimming, the kids can play in the playground just beside the pool area. We're so happy that we can enjoy this amazing experience for free. We can't wait to visit here again next summer!

In Northwest Calgary, Riley Park is a large and family-friendly green space complete with a wading pool, gardens, playground, and cricket pitch.
Great Park near downtown. Has 2 cricket pitches, wading pool, kids play area and many picnic tables. Full of flower bed in Summers. Kids playground ans jogging track.
Bharat V — Google review
Love this park, we visited while in Calgary. Awesome for kids of all ages, you can picnic, swim or play on sldes just to name a few. There are also benches and lifeguards on duty. The changing rooms and washrooms were also clean. No dogs are allowed, the place is also well maintained, with free parking on Sundays and holidays. That's always a welcomed plus. This is somewhere i will definately visit again.
Patrina M — Google review
A beautiful walk in the summer, great bike paths, and amazing view in the winter months. I watched the sunrise in the winter leaving work on my night shift. The full moon was amazing as I heard to work.
Colette P — Google review
Pretty good park, they've cleaned up a lot in recent years. Great place to bring a family. Pretty flower gardens.
Michael G — Google review
This is a beautiful park in the vicinity of downtown, Calgary. It has plenty of trees, grassy ground, benches to enjoy shade or sun, and a paved trail to enjoy walking, jogging, or cycling. The park has a children play ground with lots of equipment to amuse children of diverse interests, and It is always buzzling with children. The park has a city and district cricket league established in 1908, a well-built pitch, net practice area, and a lot of cricketers of different age groups and genders exercising, stretching, running, practicing, or playing tournament matches. The league has many teams, and anyone can join a team and practice or play there. The park is popular for its wadding pool for all ages of people. Currently it is closed to the public. I have never wadded in a pool, so I look forward to visit the park once the pool is made available to the public. Street parking is available on the streets for which you have to pay, but after 6:00 pm and on Sundays, you may park for free. I cannot agree more with one of the reviewers who said this park was an oasis.
Bharat S — Google review
A smaller park not too far from downtown in the NW. It is perfect for families and anyone who wants to relax in the sun, but it's not big enough for biking or going for a walk. It's quite pretty. There are flowers, a wading pool, The Calgary & District Cricket League (founded 1908) and now the Riley Park Bandshell. I definitely recommend it (as long as you're okay with lots of people).
RC — Google review
A nice and cozy park close to DT. It has lots of open space to spend some good family time. There is a splash pad as well during the summer. Children play ground area is also nice.
Khaled H — Google review
Free access to a wading pool, a cricket pitch, a lovely flower garden, and a playground. It can get pretty busy, and you will need to be aware of the occasional bandaid in the water, but overall a fantastic inner Calgary spot to enjoy a summer day. Highly recommend. When you are done, check out Another Dimension Comics, just across the street. And if you are hungry, Sidewalk Citizen is a minute past AD, a great market/bakery. Aug 7 2022 update: Still awesome. Bring water guns, camping chairs, grub and good company. Now you've got a stew going.

Historic Walking Areas
Bowness Park, a 74-acre park in Calgary, offers a serene escape with its lagoon, boat rentals, and winter ice skating. The park features mature trees, picnic areas with fire pits and BBQ stands, a boathouse, train rides, a tea house, and two playgrounds. Families can enjoy pathways for exploration and access to the Bow River. The park also includes a wading pool with in-ground spray fountains for kids to splash around in on the pool deck.
An ideal destination for families and couples. You can enjoy a cup of coffee and ski across the expansive area or simply stroll through the park. Additionally, skiing equipment is available for rent, and a free ski helper is provided.
Sveta K — Google review
Bowness Park has always been our favorite Fall spot. It's so beautiful that we keep coming back every year to do our yearly fall photos. It's also a great park during summer as there is a waterpark free for kids. Also, lots of people enjoy the bow river rafting with their own rafts or rental. Some people actually go swimming too, although I'm sure the water will be too cold. Winter is also beautiful as people can ice skate along the park. You can do a walking/biking loop trail from here to Baker Park, which is very easy. You will have to pass a nice bridge that connects the river. Path is open all season. There is also a path at the end (close to the green bridge) going up to the community residential area. People walk or even bike going up there. It is now fully developed. There is a lot of squirrel in the area, which is a treat for the kids. If you need to get drinks, there's a small shop that sells beverages, which is great, especially during the winter season. I love this park as it's very spacious and has a lot to offer. Also summer time if you get lucky, there's a guy that plays music and collects donations for a few charities.
Miss_j — Google review
Went there with family, it was the best! Everyone enjoyed the peaceful bow river. Took a long walk and it was 100% worth it. BUT BRING SUNSCREEN AND BUG SPRAY! There are lots of mosquitoes in the season I went, so be prepared! Raft rental available! We went up a ramp and followed a trail. MUST GO ON THAT WALK! there are stairs too if you prefer. A little park with flowers and cute bear statue too! Brings back memories when I went as a kid!!!
Selin — Google review
Great place to walk around, go for a picnic and BBQ if living in Calgary! There is a boathouse as well at a very reasonable price! You can book your picnic sites by calling 311. During the fall season the views are splendid, you can do fall photography at the best here. There is a cute tiny rail for the toy train as well. Benches, picnic tables are available all around the park. You can also bring your own portable stove and cook at any available picnic table. If you are booking picnic sites then you have your own shed and fire pit to enjoy
Rasgun — Google review
The view there was really mesmerizing and one of the best place to witness sunset near Riverside and also a great place. Can calm your mind and also has a damn scenery in fall.
Dhruv P — Google review
A park where you can experience a splendid summer. Despite recent issues, it's still a beautiful neighborhood. If I lived here, I would be so happy. I should come back for a barbecue later. Walking along the quiet paths, it felt like happiness would stay by my side forever. It's a great place to enjoy the leisure of everyday life. It has a different atmosphere from Bow River.
Summer — Google review
My favourite park in the city tied with Prince's Island! It's very pretty and a great place to come for a picnic, BBQ, with a boat, or just to hangout near the Bow river. I run here and it's always nice to see people having fun and existing. Great place for kids too, as there's plenty of playground areas, and even a little train for them to ride!
Faiz H — Google review
Bowness Park is a delightful oasis in Calgary, offering a blend of natural beauty and recreational amenities. The lagoon is perfect for paddle boating in the summer, and the park's walking paths provide scenic views year-round. With picnic areas, playgrounds, and a charming tea house, it's a fantastic destination for families, nature lovers, and anyone seeking a peaceful day by the water.

Nestled in Calgary's southwest, South Glenmore Park is a vibrant waterfront oasis that beckons families and outdoor enthusiasts alike. This expansive green space features a stunning 15.3 km loop trail around the Glenmore Reservoir, perfect for hiking or biking year-round. The park is not just about trails; it also offers an aquatic playground with a massive spray pad to help you cool off during those hot summer days.
The beautiful scenery is peaceful, and you get to breathe in the fresh air. I walked around the lake and ended up taking over 20,000 steps without even realizing it. It's a fantastic place for social gatherings and for nature lovers.
Terry U — Google review
Not as many trees as the North Glenmore Park. Quite abeautiful riverside walking trail & cycling lane, once you pass the Private Boat Parking area. Follow it and you will reach Heritage Park.
Ly C — Google review
South Glenmore Park is an absolute gem in Calgary! I love the scenic walking trails that offer stunning views of the reservoir. The park features a well-maintained bike path that stretches over 16 kilometers, perfect for cycling enthusiasts. The highlight for families is the fantastic water park, which provides endless fun for kids on hot summer days. The only downside is that in the summer the parking lot can get quite full.
Marnie C — Google review
I like to walk the entire loop, and if you arrive early in the morning it’s super quiet, not busy and the wildlife is very active. Everyone you do end up passing is always super friendly!
Caitlyn C — Google review
My favourite place to chill on my day off, whether I just want to sit by the water or trek along the path around the perimeter of the reservoir. I have had the opportunity to kayak from here and I recommend it, well done and beautiful 🙏
Michael P — Google review
Our favorite walking path. It is about 15-16 kilometers if you walk the whole thing. Lots of great views, picnic areas and fishing too. If you go earlier in the day there is a good chance to see wildlife. Lots of photo opportunities. Paths are well maintained and marked for activity for walking and cycling. If you are walking stay on the correct side of the path to avoid run ins with cyclists. Most people on bikes let you know they are behind you. Fantastic place to observe lots of sailboats.l
Sara S — Google review
South Glenmore Park is a hidden gem in Calgary! With stunning reservoir views, well-maintained trails, and great picnic spots, it's perfect for family outings. The playgrounds and splash park keep kids entertained, while birdwatching and off-leash areas cater to nature lovers and pet owners. Don't miss the beautiful sunrises and sunsets! A must-visit for a peaceful escape in the city.
Ibrahim — Google review
The Glenmore Reservoir is absolutely beautiful. Nice bike and walking paths around it, a variety of birds, a boat launch, there used to be a water park there too, not sure if it's still there or not. Oh and tennis courts too I'm pretty sure, as well as a washroom and drinking fountain. Just a really nice place to walk your dog, go fishing, boating, running, biking, or just to visit with friends and family in a beautiful area. Oh and if you're lucky later on in the day you might spot the local bats :D

Sandy Beach Park is a beloved spot in Calgary, offering 33 hectares of space along the Elbow River. It's a popular destination for barbecuing, with numerous picnic sites and BBQ stands available. The park features amenities such as a playground, dog park, and rafting access for those seeking adventure. Visitors can enjoy the scenic surroundings while grilling on-site or taking advantage of the nearby COBS Bread Gourmet Hamburger Buns.
Great park. There are several locations where you can cook bbq, big location for kids and pet friendly area. Toilet is present.

Nice area within the city to decompress. Go for a walk by the river, exercise(bicycling or skating on paved trails- connects to the athletic park), family and friends gathering ( day use areas - bbqing and alcohol is allowed) , or just to read a book. There is also a kids' playground and designated off leashe areas. You can also go for a coffee or an ice cream to the Britannia Plaza located uphill on the west side of the river. Lots of options for parking
Hugo L — Google review
This is a wonderful place to bring the family for a walk or ride a bike. Beautiful riverside location. It has many picnic sites, bbq stand, fire pits, playgrounds, pathways, seasonal washrooms and water fountain. There are plenty of green space and tall trees. It has off-leash area for dogs to enjoy too. Only four stars because we didn’t expect that the new play ground will get crowded on a Monday morning.

What a beautiful hidden gem of a place! We had picked up some ice cream at Village Ice Cream, and while looking at Google Maps, we spotted this area. We are so happy that we decided to check this place out. There's a nice playground at this park, but that's not the drawing point. You can easily walk onto the Rocky Beach area next to the river. The river is very shallow, so there's no worry about being caught by any currents. People still launch their little rafts and float down the river. It's a great place to bring your family. There's plenty of grassy areas for bbqs and picnics. Kids can frolic in the water or skip some stones. What a wonderful little place in Calgary!
Victor L — Google review
This park was awesome and the scenery was beautiful from every path taken. Excellent for all ages including pets to enjoy the scenery, trails, play ground, picnic areas or the river itself.
Ronie W — Google review
What a gorgeous place to spend the day with family and friends! Be sure to bring a towel and change of clothes to enjoy the river with the kids.
Erika R — Google review
This is a very nice place to visit especially in summertime where you bring dog and enjoy the clear water of elbow river. Picnic tables are plenty and some are covered. Playground for children is amazingly wide. River is so clear and good for boating and swimming too. The area is so clean and a lot of trees to rest upon a sunny day.

Rotary Park is a spacious and picturesque inner-city park located in Calgary's Crescent Heights neighborhood. Families frequent the park during warmer months to enjoy its off-leash area, expansive green space, children's playground, and refreshing water spray park. The park also offers picnic tables, seasonal washrooms, and water fountains for visitors' convenience. Additionally, there are tennis and lawn bowling clubs within the vicinity.
Quaint park north of Downtown Calgary. This location is within walking distance and offers a great view of the city and Bow River. There are also diverse tree, grass, and clover species (mostly introduced).
Hector M — Google review
One of my favorite parks in the city. Great views, good playground, tennis courts, art walk. Definitely a must in Calgary.
Michael G — Google review
Such a beautiful park with an incredible downtown view, some hidden trails, tennis court, and off leash areas for dogs. There’s something about fall that just makes it even prettier and not to forget the lion overlooking the city!!!! 👌🏽👌🏽There are some fruit trees around but I don’t know if they’re safe to eat.
Mahki Z — Google review
Offers an amazing view of downtown with tons of open space for walking your dog, picnicking, or just relaxing. There's a playground nearby for kids and a tennis club as well. Good parking if you're okay with walking into downtown.
Jen F — Google review
3 hours free parking on street, dog park, splash park, playground, great views of downtown and Prince's Island. Shortcut for commute downtown or stairs to workout. Nice benches to relax and enjoy the view. Now home to one of the original Centre street bridge lions.
Sofi C — Google review
When i first moved to Calgary in 2019, Rotary Park was one of the first few places I discovered and fell in love with. Though very cliche, the benches remind me of the movie 500 Days of Summer. But cliches are cliches for a reason, and this spot is well worth it. A great spot if you want to read a book, or share a picnic with a date.
Red R — Google review
Doesn’t matter when your going. Always pretty (Christmas/summer/winter etc) nice place to walk your dogs, yourself or with someone. And great place to take photo of downtown, calgary. 언제와도 백만불짜리 뷰 :) 사진찍기에도 산책할때도 최고인 곳!
A — Google review
This is a nice park with lots of green space for a gathering or picnic. I also loved that it is a great starting place for many pathways. There are benches to look out over downtown Calgary and the Bow River. Historic markers there tell about early Calgary.

If you're looking for a family-friendly destination in Calgary, the Southland Leisure Centre is an absolute gem! This vibrant facility offers a plethora of activities that cater to kids of all ages. Dive into the excitement with its impressive wave pool and thrilling water slides, perfect for both little ones and adventurous teens. The interactive water playground features fun elements like steering wheels and water cannons that kids can control themselves, ensuring hours of entertainment.
Great facility with splash park, wave pool, hot tub, sauna and kiddie pool. Fitness classes, gymnastics, rock climbing wall, skating rink, squash courts, and a top notch gym with the best equipment in the entire city. Physio and massage therapy available on the second floor. Avoid weekends if you can as it can get super crowded with family swim but the gym was quiet today. Nice and clean and parking lot was packed.

Very nice pool — everything is clean and well maintained. The slides work perfectly without any issues. The staff and lifeguards are polite and attentive. We really enjoyed it and have already visited several times this week!

Our favorite leisure center in Calgary. Wavy pool, splash park , 2 big slides , kiddie pool, sauna and hot tub, fitness center , physiotherapist and party rooms We like to spent couple hours on weekend here. Always clean. Even there are lots of people , you can find spot and lockers (be prepared to have quarters per locker) l.

Southland Leisure Centre is a strong, multi-functional rec facility that does very well when it comes to variety and family-friendliness. It may not be pristine or cutting edge everywhere, but for what it offers, water play, slides, fitness, climbing, skating, it’s very good value. If you can go at non peak times, it’s a very enjoyable place. For families, especially with young children, it’s often go with my children. They love slide in there.

Amazing pool fun waves, fun slides and best of all a good dive tank. Lifeguards are super chill and won't call you out unless your risking the safety of someone else, I recommend for groups of people because there is so much to do. If you have a ball bring it, so much room to play and not very many obstacles.

Decent sized pool and 4 water slides. 2 for smaller kids. 2 for older kids and adults. Washroom/charging rooms excellent size and layout. No complaints. Will definitely hang out there again

We had a great experience at South Leisure Centre! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our kids especially loved the swimming pool — they had a blast with the fun activities available, including ninja obstacle courses, walking inside inflatable balls, and the wave feature, which was a highlight for all age groups. We usually go to Village Square Leisure Centre for the big water slides, but it’s always very crowded. South Leisure may have a smaller pool in comparison, but it offers all the same amenities in a much more relaxed and less busy environment. Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable visit, and we’ll definitely be coming back!

I only skip a star because my son and I only visit on the weekends and it is so busy. Which is a testament to how great the facility is but be prepared to wait in line. We go for the family skate on the weekends and the rink is well maintained, prices are very reasonable, and there's ample space to change in and out of your skates. I recently went for a kids birthday party and they have this great private play area you can rent out. It even has a climbing wall! Very clean and perfect for birthday parties.

Nestled between the charming communities of Dover and Southview, Valleyview Park is a delightful destination for families seeking outdoor fun. This park boasts an array of amenities including picnic tables, benches, and pathways that invite leisurely strolls. The highlight for many is the vibrant spray park featuring four colorful structures that delight younger children with playful water streams from above and bubbling jets from below. Safety is paramount here; the entire area is enclosed to keep little ones secure while they splash around.
This park is definitely my wife and dog's favorite. My wife gets scared eaisly, and our dog is reactive to others bigger dogs, so they need plenty of on-leash areas to run with a long lead in populated areas, which this park provides. We also enjoy the beautiful views at this park. Until 8:30 pm, there are many kids, families, and dogs around, but we have found several ways to avoid them, which we appreciate. We like how there is always parking and it's a great alternative than walking in 17th sketchy neighborhood.

A very nice multi-function park for family & kids hang out. There are three different nice playgrounds, grass football field, beach volleyball, great trails surrounded for a sparkling city-view night and day. A good place to gather for group's sports & picnic, stroll or biking..

Just love this hidden gem. There are volleyball courts, a baseball diamond, a gated toddler park with a spray center, pathways that run in all directions with great views of the west including downtown. A pond with beautiful small waterfalls and areas close by with benches. A larger playground for the older kids with disc swings(that fit many kiddos), balance ring, swing bars, and a climbing centre. One of my kids favourite!

This is an okay splash park. It's great for small children like 5 and under in my opinion...the splash park isn't that big but for small children it's great and works well!!! There is also a playground right next to it on both sides and this makes for a great outing for the family. It does get a bit crowded between 2pm and 4pm and because it isn't a very big splash park it gets a little overwhelming. But my 2 and a half year old son doesn't seem to mind at all he just loves running and playing with everyone. LOL there is a lifeguard on duty there the past two times I visited so I don't know if they are there all times or specific times. There are bathrooms and changing rooms to which is nice and very clean!!!

So they are in the process of redoing and installing the volley ball court? Beach? 😕 I am not a sport person , dont know what volley ball is played on , but you sporters got new sand! Also there is a splash park and new looking play ground. If you hike there are great trails and view overlooking the down town.

Beautiful clean parc with lots of space and options for different activities. A water parc, a great playground, open field for playing soccer, a pond, and multiple pathways. Lots of parking as well and just across the street from a bike/ walking path that follows the bow. Dogs on leashes welcome as well.

Too many mosquitos now due to the untreated pond; go elsewhere. They normally do insecticide by now but so far they've only herbacide parts of the park. I come here daily either to bike or walk my dog. We do several laps; but went at 10pm last night to bike and the air was thick with mosquitoes in my eyes in my mouth... Normally do at least 5 laps with my buddy but I left in less than 1. Mosquitos at the canal are not too bad; go to the dog park down there; or bike along

Calaway Park is a seasonal amusement park located in Western Canada, offering over 30 rides, stage shows, a 3D theatre, and midway games. It has been providing affordable and family-friendly entertainment for more than thirty years. The park's one-pay gate system allows unlimited access to rides, attractions, live shows, and street performers like stilt walkers and jugglers.
Calaway Park is a fantastic family destination! I've visited multiple times with my wife and our kids (ages 6 and 3), and each trip has been a joy. While some rides are age-specific and not suitable for younger children, there's still plenty to enjoy. The atmosphere is vibrant, the staff are friendly, and the park offers a wholesome experience for all ages. From gentle rides to engaging shows and play areas, our kids were entertained throughout. It's a great spot for creating lasting family memories. We will definitely be back!

Great amusement park for kids and parents/families, and lots of stuff for teens too. So many rides toddlers can go on if they are tall enough. Even when the parking is packed it is not too big of a wait for a lot of the smaller rides. The water rides are a long wait and close an hour before closing time. Lots of bathrooms around. Lots of food options. Shaved ice and pineapple dole whip is vegan. Cool Halloween vibes when summer season is over. Decorated all throughout the park.
Marta B — Google review
Coming into the parking lot, everyone was parking to the left as it looks like they are building something on the right. They have lots of people waving you in telling you where to park. They have many booths to pay for your tickets as you go in. I do recommend buying your ticket online before going in. When you went to the park you can go to the left or to the right. I recommend going to the roller coaster first. The lineups can get quite long. The roller coaster and the log ride usually get the longest lines. The staff is very friendly and the park is very clean. I do find the water is expensive there so bring your own water to drink. They do have an area with lots of picnic tables for you to have a lunch. I have a 2 year old and he could go on about nine rides. When my daughter was 9 she could go on every single ride. Overall I do like this park. I do believe it is time to add some new rides. We went September 14th and they had Halloween days starting. They had parades and they had people dressed up everywhere.
Stephanie M — Google review
The park is great, especially for kids and probably some teenagers up to around 14 years old. There are lots of fun rides for children, bright swings, and a Parade of Fairy-Tale Characters (they were handing out delicious candies). We also bought some food — the fries were very tasty. There are small lines for the restrooms. We’ll definitely visit this place again!

I visited Calaway Park and had a fantastic time! The park was spotless, the staff were super friendly, and the atmosphere was full of energy. It’s clearly a perfect spot for families—so many smiling kids and parents enjoying the day. Whether you’re with a group or on your own, it’s a fun, well-run park that’s worth the visit!

IF YOU WANT A GREAT PLACE TO TAKE THE WHOLE FAMILY, THIS IS IT! Amazing experience! They have rides for kids rides for adults, add rides for really small kids as well! There are lineups and that long. The most We ever waited was about half an hour. It is $52 to get in the dollars to get in the door if you are 13 to 65 years of age.
Christine G — Google review
Great value. Lots of rides and activities for my 5 and 7 year old kids. Did not have to wait more than 5-10 minutes for the rides. We would come back for sure. We liked the magic show.
Dave T — Google review
Fun lil park. Definitely for kids - we had fun for maybe 2 hours and that’s all there is to do as an adult. It’s closer to Calgary - the only perk. There were some rides that charge you additional $2-$5 on top of the entry ticket. Haunted house was a joke. Extremely long queues. Overpriced snacks and drinks. Meh! If you want to visit on a weekend, plan ahead cos parking is going to take you a long time.

Olympic Plaza, a former venue for the 1988 Olympic Winter Games in Calgary, has been transformed into a vibrant park with a pond and an amphitheater. The plaza is particularly popular for its seasonal ice skating rink, which becomes enchanting at night when illuminated, especially during the holiday season with a Christmas tree on display.
This is a really nice public space. Enjoy it while is still available for the public. There are events every weekend on December but not skating rink this winter. It’s a great spot in the heart of downtown and it’s a shame that they will be close it in place of an extension of another building like don't we have buildings enough already?!

“A Magical First Theater Experience!” Attending my first theater performance was truly unforgettable. The ambiance was captivating, with the dim lighting and the sense of anticipation in the air. The performers were absolutely phenomenal—each expression, gesture, and word brought the story to life in a way I had never experienced before.

I’ve been a Calgarian since 2008, I was sort of sad to see Olympic Plaza is being replaced, but the nostalgia is short lived nice you see the new plans, if it turns out like the renderings look on the city of Calgary website, it’s going to be fantastic!!! (It’s worth mentioning I DONT have nostalgia for the old washrooms, mainly winter skating.
Chad R — Google review
This is a fantastic public space. The events all summer, the skating rink in the winter. It’s a gorgeous spot in the heart of downtown and it’s a shame to hear they will be scrapping it in place of an extension of another building. Hopefully the plan for design somehow preserves some of this spot and doesn’t erase it entirely. This is a city that spent a fortune on a blue ring on the outskirts of town though so who knows. Hoping for the best!

A beautiful park next to the city hall with multiple events throughout the different seasons from gathering to show respect, concerts, art display to staking. This also allows for some landscape viewing in between busy downtown towers. Also next to LRT and convenient to visit. Recommended to visit at day time despite the crowed.
Mugdho A — Google review
Pretty cool the city has a park dedicated to the Olympics. Some cuties boast that they will have hosted the Olympics three times, yet don't have any parks for her local constituents to enjoy. Honestly any city that plans on sending people to the Olympics should have Olympic-sized facilities for people to train in.

We were pleased that the rink was still open! Visited 3-17-24. ⛸️ Experience Calgary's Olympic Plaza Ice Rink: Nestled in the heart of downtown Calgary, this rink exudes a captivating charm that's hard to resist. We were pleased to find that the rink was still open, offering a unique sunny skating experience. Despite the warmth and a few puddles near the edges, the opportunity to skate comfortably in t-shirts was a refreshing surprise, adding to the allure of our visit. The sheer size of the rink struck me immediately, spanning over 17,000 square feet, offering ample space for skaters of all ages and skill levels. Surrounded by towering skyscrapers and framed by the majestic backdrop of the Calgary Tower, skating at Olympic Plaza provided unparalleled city views that were simply epic. It's a fantastic way to experience the vibrant spirit of Calgary while gliding across the ice. The facilities at the rink are top-notch, with rental skates available for those who don't have their own. There are also benches and seating areas where skaters can take a break and warm up with a hot beverage from the nearby concessions. One of the highlights of our visit was discovering the rich history behind the rink. As the site of the medal ceremonies during the 1988 Winter Olympics, the Olympic Plaza Ice Rink holds a special place in Calgary's sporting legacy. It's a testament to the city's enduring passion for winter sports and its commitment to fostering a vibrant community spirit. The groundhog wall was a hit with the kids, who gleefully posed with many of them, adding an extra layer of fun and whimsy to our outing. Overall, our experience at Calgary's Olympic Plaza Ice Rink was nothing short of enchanting. Whether you're a seasoned skater or just looking for a fun outing with friends and family, this iconic rink is a must-visit destination. With its picturesque setting, excellent facilities, warm hospitality, and sunny adventures, it's no wonder that the Olympic Plaza Ice Rink remains a beloved winter oasis in the heart of Calgary. 🇨🇦 @kidstravelCanada facebook for more kid friendly outings!

There are quite a few free events at this Plaza during summertime. Also, it is a good place for your kids to run around and have fun at the wading pool when it is filled. The same area transforms into a skating ring during winter. Just be aware that you may see impaired people around.

Located in Calgary, Village Square Leisure Centre is one of the city's popular indoor pools. With a safari theme, it features a giant water slide and a wave pool that is beyond impressive. The hot tub is also big enough for a half dozen families to soak in simultaneously.
During this visit, I went to the library briefly and then the wave pool. I have not been here for a couple of decades or more. Went on a Tuesday around 5pm. Line up to get in was quick and the staff was very friendly, with big welcoming smiles. The change rooms were as to be expected in an older pool setting. The family change rooms were kind of crowded at times. I would suggest leaving before closing time. There was a stand of lifejackets for all to use freely. The pool itself was not too crowded, with lots of chairs for non swimming family members and lots of very attentive lifeguards making sure everyone was following the rules to keep everyone safe. It was a great time with family with something for all ages and swimming levels.

Great centre with water splash park complete with water slides and wave pool. Super fun for all ages but super busy during this summers heat wave. There are basketball and badminton courts, jungle gym and registered yoga or martial arts classes at an additional charge. Weight room remains open after the wave pool closes. Check the website for hours of operations. Ladies change rooms was horrendous! On multiple days, there were food wrappers and dirt all over the floor. The bathrooms smelled of urination right on the floor and around the stalls plus nasty smell. I don’t recommend going late. Come early and it’s clean. A staff member cleaned it up after someone brought it to their attention. Parking was packed and stalls were tight. Don’t park here or your car will be scratched or dented. Bring a dollar or loony for the lockers. Returnable after use. Only a handful of lockable lockers with your own lock and it’s only in the Family change room. Update…The staff and weight room were nice and clean. Updated pics of Ladies change room at closing so come early.

With regards to the pool - I’m not one to get upset or really write a ton of reviews, but I’m beyond disappointed with the level of cleanliness and the standard to which this facilities is currently being kept and feel I need to express how disgusting we felt leaving the pool area after our visit today. I grew up using the village Square leisure centre and I remember it fondly, but after today I see it in a new light. We arrived in the afternoon and used the family change rooms and found them to be almost to the point where we didn’t want to continue. From poop filled diapers, vomit in the garbage cans, and hot humid change rooms, to scum and questionable bodily fluids, filth and grime throughout the entrance, it was a rough start. We found several floating items while in the wave pool and I was saddened to see the buildup, rust, and whatever was growing under the top platform of the thunder run. The general state of the pool left us wanting to immediately shower once home. Additionally I saw several people swimming in what appeared to be their street clothes while not showing prior to entering. ( I visually saw them enter the pool in their dry* street clothes). Sadly My family will be taking a break from village square. It’s not us, it’s you. Clean ya sheets, comb your hair and stand up straight. Be the majestic beauty you once were. I spoke to the manager upon leaving. He was kind and seemed to hear my concerns. He said he would look into it and I hope he did. Facilities like genesis in Airdrie and the SLS in Cochran are cared for at a visually different level leaving you feeling happy about your experience.

Village Square Leisure Centre is a great family-friendly spot in Calgary, especially known for its wave pool, water slides, and fun aquatic areas that kids absolutely love. The staff are generally helpful and the variety of activities—from swimming to gym access—makes it good value for a day of recreation. However, it can get quite crowded during peak times, and some reviewers note that change rooms and facilities could be cleaner on busy days. Overall, it’s an enjoyable place for families and groups looking for an active day out.

One reason we stopped here is it’s just unique. Accessed by a little bridge via a big bridge, it has a little pond (which is connected to the river) for the kids to splash in and throw rocks. My girls enjoyed the minnows nibbling their feet. It wasn’t busy on a weekday but not quiet either, lots of families with their kids as well as people biking by. It also has a few picnic tables and lots of seating. Scenic and lovely place. Although the water was a bit gunky I believe it was because the water level is low, once it rises a lot of that will be washed away.

Calm and relaxing park away from too much people (mostly they are in Prince’s Island Park) There’s a pond where you can have a picnic, chill on a blanket, throw stones on the water or just look at the calm canopy of trees. " Pump park" we have been all over the city to other pump tracks and this one has the best design and curvature out of them all. The far south one is too sharp if that makes sense. This one is nice and round. Great spacing etc. makes it perfect for beginners and advanced alike. It's also possible for skateboarding and scooters . There is some etiquette. Keep space between you and the person Infront. Keep an eye out for little kids who are just learning. Have fun!

Awesome splash park (has washrooms which is always clean) and tennis court for public use. Has access to bike paths connecting to Confederation park. Only thing missing is a playground area and it would be perfect! It's also not crowded so definitely a plus!

Nestled in the heart of Variety Children's Park, the Variety Spray Park is a delightful destination for families seeking fun and adventure. This vibrant spray park features an array of water play elements that are sure to keep kids entertained for hours. The entire area is thoughtfully designed to be accessible, ensuring that children of all abilities can join in on the fun.

While there is only one designated shaded area, the park is surrounded by large trees that provide ample opportunities for finding shade. Restroom and spray park are wheelchairs accessible.

My 17-month-old loves this place! The spray park is definitely a highlight. He had so much fun running through the water and exploring all the different features. He also enjoyed the rest of the park, which has plenty to keep little ones entertained. Bonus points for having a bathroom on-site, which was clean enougj considering the amount of people and convenient. Great spot for families with young kids!

Fenced in, clean and well maintained splash pad and playgrounds for kids of all ages! My 18 months boy had a blast and didn't want to leave. Picnic table and bench available with lots of grass space around the area. Washrooms available. Everyone is nice and friendly. Not crowded around 10:50am on cloudy Monday. Accessible parking, watch out for one-way arrows.

Really good. Clean, friendly and the options for children are really good.

It's a small park that doesn't run water off summer season, it's a nice small park but is relatively underwhelming. However, there are not many spray parks in the city so this definitely is one of the better ones. Definitely worth taking young children to play on the playground and the spray park. It can get pretty busy during peak season.

The atmosphere here is very nice and the place is quiet and suitable for families and friends. I work in a restaurant and I came here to deliver an order and took souvenir photos of this site. I will definitely come here again with my family. The place is very quiet. I loved it. It deserves 10 stars. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

It’s a good splash park and has a big playground right in the same area. I like that there’s a lot of green space and parking and the views are great right by the water. I just wish they had more bathrooms! So many line ups and long wait times when it’s busy.

It is summertime and my go-to place with my dogs for a swim n walks. Have spots for BBQ, hikes, and bicycle rides. Dogs on leash and people very polite/friendly and dogs well behaved. Also a gold course across and people also fish here

The best decision on a hot day was to go to the lake with the children after lunch. The lake is not deep. Lifeguards carefully monitor the swimmers. There are trees, you can hide from the sun. There is a changing room, toilets, the territory is clean.

People with no manners display their own loud boom box music. No control on it. You cannot enjoy the calm environment that a family friendly place should provide. Also disrespectful and nature unconsidered person parked on the grass ruining it, as well.
WAM B — Google review
Situated in the monumental 1,355.56-hectare Fish Creek Provincial Park, surrounded by fence and spread into 40-hectare area, Sikome Lake, is a manmade aquatic facility that is popular among Calgarians. The 2.1-meter-deep lake receives its water supply from three fresh water wells. The seasonal lake is open to the public only for a little over two months from June end to the first week of September. It is thronged by thousands of visitors on weekends. Besides the lake with colossal sandy beaches and grassy areas, the beautiful place has a lot more to offer. There are children’s playgrounds and designated picnic areas with firepits, a food outlet, and washrooms. The parking area is unbelievably enormous which is spacious enough to park innumerable number of vehicles, for free. The entry fee of just $10.00 for a family of 2 plus 4 children is as good as nothing compared to the exhilaration that you get at this amazing picnic spot that is full of various aquatic and terrestrial activities for all people, irrespective of their age, gender, or interest. A must visit place for Calgarians in the natural environment of the Fish Creek Provincial Park.
Bharat S — Google review
The lake is closed for the season and there is no information about it anywhere, if you don't open in early summer, put an announcement about it, or add a review about it, so that no one drives 40 minutes across Calgary to you. kissed the fence and left.
Ann D — Google review
I took 5 kids there on Tuesday and the kids all came out in Swimmers itch, cried and itched for about 3 hours, gave them allergy medicine and a bath in baking soda and the itch wasn't so intense, but definitely think twice about going there. However, we have been a few times every year for about the last 5 years and never experienced this, I really hope management can clean out the lake a few more times a year, so others don't experience this.
Chloe H — Google review
First time here, felt a little weird to pay to go to a lake but then I realized why, beautiful sand beach surround the lake. Plus it is man made so it is cleaner than typical lakes. The prices are not bad. $8 for an adult and family was $18 I believe. Free life jackets to borrow for the little and non swimmers. Great escape in the city.

Stanley Park, located along the Elbow River in Calgary, is a 21-hectare inner city park offering a variety of recreational activities. Visitors can enjoy outdoor BBQ areas, a baseball diamond, swimming and wading pools, as well as access to the river for canoeing and rafting. The park also features tennis courts, a sports field, lawn bowling, and a natural playground. Additionally, it is popular for winter tobogganing.
The parking lot has a clean washroom nearby. 25 min walk until Rideau Park Pedestrian bridge. Large lawns. Playground. Table tennis. Some barbecue and picnic along the skating rink area (which has its own parking lot)

The park is very large, provides a perfect opportunity to witness the beautiful foliage, if you go in the autumn. In addition to the walking paths and the bike route circling the park by the sea, the scenery is self-evident. If you have the time, I highly recommend coming here for a half-day stroll and taking in the beauty of Vancouver. This time, I rented a bike to go around the park, and the ocean view and the beautiful maple leaves created a picturesque scene. After cycling around, I not only didn't feel tired, but my body and mind were very relaxed. One thing to note is that when cycling, whether stopping or starting, please be mindful of whether there are people behind you!

I recently visited Stanley Park and had a fantastic experience! One of the highlights was its proximity to the river, which provided beautiful scenic views and a serene atmosphere for a relaxing day out. The park also offers excellent amenities, including well-maintained tennis courts and an inviting outdoor pool. The $6 fee for access is quite reasonable considering the quality and range of facilities available. Overall, Stanley Park is a wonderful place for outdoor activities and enjoying nature. Highly recommended!

Great park in the heart of Calgary very scenic and calm. On weekend there can be a lot of people and hard to find parking but otherwise there is lots of free parking. There is a river which can be used like lazy river and a great spot for kids to get in water as its shallow and the playground is in front of it which has all that kids will need. There is a baseball court, tennis court, swimming pool and garden. There are even two table tennis tables free to use. There is a nice green trail for walking. Over all great place to spend a nice evening. Highly recommended. Check out videos and follow for more.

This is a beautiful park along the elbow river. It has an outdoor pool in the summer months. The parking is free but can get a little diffucult to find. There are amazing flower gardens and sometimes an ice cream truck in the parking lot. Many people come here to picnic in the park or go for a leisurely tube ride in the river.
James W — Google review
It was a great experience visiting this park today. It's full of trees and flowers, but I don't think that they are taking care of trees and plants here as I hope so, but maybe because it's fall. The park is huge, but with few seats only, so it's a better place for walking and jogging rather than sitting and enjoying a meal. Too many families come here to enjoy their time, and I recommend it to everyone.

Central Memorial Park, situated in the heart of the Beltline in downtown Calgary, is a charming and historic city park. It offers beautifully landscaped gardens, war memorial statues, and a serene fountain that provides an ideal backdrop for photos. The park's well-maintained pathways lead visitors through lush green spaces and past old trees, creating a picturesque setting for relaxation and leisurely strolls.
Central Memorial Park is Calgary’s oldest park, offering a beautifully landscaped green space in the heart of downtown. Established in 1912, this historic park features elegant pathways, lush flower beds, a stunning central fountain, and the stately Memorial Park Library, one of the city’s most iconic heritage buildings. With its European-style gardens, seasonal blooms, and peaceful atmosphere, the park serves as a perfect spot for relaxation, reading, or a quiet stroll. A tribute to Canada’s veterans, it also houses several war memorials, making it both a scenic and meaningful destination.

Central Memorial Park is right in downtown Calgary and easy to get to. The park is clean and well-kept, with plenty of benches and walking paths. The monuments and historical markers add some character, making it an interesting spot to explore. It’s a nice place to take a break, enjoy a quick stroll, or take some photos while downtown. Can get a bit busy at peak times, but overall, it’s a convenient and pleasant green space in the heart of the city.

What a nice park in downtown Calgary. We came for the 4th Street Night Market. The vendors were unique and interesting. The selection of food trucks was wide range, so there's something for everyone. The park has a beautiful walkway around with nicely fixed flower arrangements. Parking is the biggest issue as it took us a couple of loops to find a spot.
Victor L — Google review
Went for a night market. It was great, there was live music and lots of tables to buy from even sweets if you have a sweet tooth.
Michelle P — Google review
Nice and relaxing spot for a quick walk or a quick glance at the city. Not extremely hard to find street parking across the block but be aware the place is usually a hangover spot for a lot of homeless people. Although they never seem to bother any visitors. Usually security keeps an eye close by (sometimes)
A D — Google review
Taxpayer dollars allocated to maintaining the park are not an efficient use of funds if the park’s primary users are people without homes and the general public feels unsafe using it. The public investment in a community amenity is undermined when its intended purpose—providing a recreational space for all citizens—is not being met due to social issues. The placement of a government-funded harm reduction facility across street, while intended to be a public health measure, may have unintended consequences for the surrounding community. Such facilities can draw a population of drug users to a specific area, potentially leading to increased public drug use and safety concerns in that neighborhood. While harm reduction is a valid public health strategy, its location and integration into the community should be carefully considered to avoid negatively impacting the quality of life for residents and visitors.

Amazing place filled with really great and friendly people! From all different backgrounds ethnicities and walks of life we only together with a common goal and that is to be healthy friendly and supportive. This place is a small ecosystem of what Calgary is all about. I'm so glad that I have this so close to my home as it is a home away from home. Whether it's going to the sauna and hot tub for a relax after a long day of moving my feet or an early morning rainy day to get in my 5 km jog on the treadmill I'm always greeted by friendly faces and kind people Thank you so much! All of the staff are incredible too and are really friendly and accommodating!
Motivate M — Google review
I've been taking my kids to Thornhill Aquatic & Recreation Centre for swimming classes and we've had a fantastic experience! The instructors are knowledgeable, patient, and engaging, making lessons enjoyable and effective for my little ones. The swimming program is well-structured, and I've seen significant progress in my kids' skills and confidence. The staff is friendly and accommodating, making it easy to manage schedules and communicate needs. However the building itself shows its age. While cleanliness is maintained, the facilities could benefit from modernization and renovation. The changing rooms, in particular, could use an update. Despite this, the centre's strengths outweigh its weaknesses. Convenient location, reasonable prices, and excellent swimming instruction make it an excellent choice for families like mine.
Rub N — Google review
After reading the reviews about the change rooms and the cleanliness of the facility. I thought I should give an update since most of them are a couple years old. I don't know what has changed whether it's staffing or lack of staffing to clean the facility properly, but in general the place is gross. I've seen hair on the walls that stays there for days and days. Dirty tiles. Dirty toilets overflowing toilets. Lack of maintenance. Dirty lockers pretty much. If you're going to go there, make sure you have water shoes and sandals when you get out and have to walk through the bathroom. Most of the time in the ladies there is hair everywhere. There's also an issue with the water temperature in the showers. Sometimes it's alarm most of the time. It's either scalding hot or cold. The sauna is probably one of the coldest in the city and there is a hot tub that is out of service. I'd say 40% of the time and it's pretty gross. I've been going there for 3 years and I have seen a decline. There is also an issue with people using their cell phones in the change room in the shower area. Pretty much wherever they want and there is a lack of enforcement. I've seen lifeguards walk through the bathroom and pass a person on their cell phone and say nothing. The staff however are friendly approachable and capable. There is a lack of communication. However, most of the time the schedule online is wrong and if you ask a staff member they don't know what's going on from 1 hour to the next. This has been an ongoing issue. Like I said, the only reason I gave this four stars instead of two is because of the great staff and classes

Well organized, my 4 yr old daughter is having so much fun on her swimming lesson. I salute all the swimming instructors for their dedication and passion in teaching their students well, most especially the instructor of my daughter (6:30pm.to 7pm slot). This location provides excellent service.
MTCM S — Google review
I recently visited Thornhill Aquatics, and it was a disappointing experience. The facility is clearly outdated, with worn-down equipment and poor maintenance. It has the potential to be a great community space, but it feels neglected. One of the biggest frustrations was the lack of a visible swimming lesson schedule. There was no way to check online, no signs in the facility, and staff weren’t helpful. Planning ahead was impossible, making the whole process unnecessarily difficult. Supervision was another major issue. Kids were running wild, splashing, and playing unsafely with little to no control. The lifeguards seemed disengaged, doing the bare minimum instead of enforcing rules or maintaining order. It made the environment feel chaotic and even unsafe. The pool itself wasn’t heated, making for an uncomfortable swim, and a hose was oddly running into the dive tank, which seemed like a maintenance issue. The hot tub wasn’t much better—barely warm instead of the relaxing experience it should be. The change rooms also left a lot to be desired. They didn’t seem clean and clearly needed work. There were no shower curtains or any kind of privacy in the showers, which seemed a bit odd for a public facility. To top it off, the staff seemed indifferent, adding to the unwelcoming atmosphere. And if you try calling for information? It’s a joke—they just hang up.

Disappointing Experience with Parent & Tot Swim Class I enrolled in a Parent & Tot swim class and was thoroughly disappointed. There was no clear information about the class timing, and we were unaware that it was only 30 minutes long. Arriving just 5 minutes late, we were told to wait by the pool for the instructor. Despite greeting her, we were ignored. After waiting 25 minutes, we were informed that the class had ended at 1:30 PM. Standing by the pool with a toddler, feeling overlooked, was incredibly frustrating. I hope the facility addresses these communication issues to improve future experiences.
Nav S — Google review
Has an indoor swimming pool, ice hockey rink and areas to watch and even a library and clinic nearby. Swimming lessons are expensive but in the lockers all the older people are naked but that’s just how Calgary is, the toilets have shit that’s unflushed and nasty, not too many lockers to change in for privacy and lots of locker break in’s. The swimming is pretty good you need to take a shower first and wait for your instructor while freezing to death, they come after 5 minutes and take you in the pool, 2 pools, 1 deep and for diving and 1 for like laned swimming and lessons

Its a city of Calgary pool and its not as busy as other ones that I have taken my kids for swimming classess. The parking is small but ample. The reception area is well spaced staff were super nice, welcoming and promptly helpful and so are the instructors. My kids had a blast learning swimming. Instructors were joyful and made learning interactive. The changing/shower rooms are not so spacious but enough I would say again I have been to other city pools. This is just an aquatic center so no attached gym or other recreation facilities. There is a wending machine at entrance. What I did not like was the parents waiting area as there were few chairs only. Bit over all the pool and washrooms were clean and well kempt and staff and instructors were great so highly worth it. The Acadia Aquatic & Fitness Centre is a public swimming pool that has a small gym. It offers swim lessons and drop-in fitness classes. It is great for splash zone lovers and absolute swimmers. This center offers tons of activities, including different sports, to keep you fit!
The facility was clean and easy to access, the saltwater pool was SO NICE and drop in hours are pretty good and not overloaded. And its cheap! I was shocked at how good everything was.
Kaylin B — Google review
Very nice staff, but terrible schedule! This renovated facility should be open seven days a week just like before, and not for four days like they do currently. Swimming is not a luxury! Everyone in the community of Acadia should have the right to enjoy Acadia pool on all weekdays and weekends. Especially those people who are working and unable to use the facility during the current four day schedule, but would like to relax, exercise in the water or use the exercise rooms on the weekends. Also, those who need the water for different health benefits. We are all paying our taxes, therefore we should all be entitled to use the pool every day in our convenience. My children used to go to the Acadia swimming pool for swimming lessons. There are several schools in the community and I am pretty sure that many, if not all of those schools would be interested in swimming programs, if those would be available again. Most of the 5 star reviews are from the past written many years ago. Yes, it used to be great, but not at present. I know that since this nonsense 4-day schedule has happened most of the people are upset, unhappy and dissatisfied with the current schedule. Please, bring back the seven day normal schedule to this facility, and I will gladly change my rating.

I was happy I could my daughter a spot for swimming lessons but then we went to their facilities and it's too bad that we can't pull out now. Apparently they have renovated the place but I was surprised they don't have a universal change room. This is a no brainer in this day and age, mom can't take my daughter because she is at home with the baby. This means I have to take my toddler into the guys change room, they are crammed and with only 4 showers each overlooking the other, on top of that they are on timer to only spray warm water for the first 30 seconds. There isn't a single private stall in the change room to change my daughter and dry her hair. This is an outdated and small complex.

I live in Acadia I work Monday to Friday. Why is this facility not open seven days a week.? By the time I get home from work, I don’t have time to go to the gym or go swimming As a taxpayer, I should be able to enjoy this facility seven days a week.!
Jacqueline R — Google review
In a bustling community with people of all ages and new families, this place is closed friday, saturday, and sunday. Honestly, I would become a member if this centre if it was open on those days, since it is located so close to my house and i’m sure many other peoples too. It’s a shame, a brand new renovated area losing out on business by not being open over the weekend This is nothing against the staff though, they’re very nice people.
Dez C — Google review
Horrible schedule, if you have a job or school then the only option is Monday 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM

I recently started attending the fitness classes offered at Acadia Fitness Centre and I absolutely love them! The Bootcamp class is wonderful, and Leona (the instructor) offers great advice on your technique, and gives you a variety of options for your fitness levels. I've done classes at a variety of gyms throughout my life, and I have to say I'm most impressed with these classes! Even if you're just starting your fitness journey, don't be afraid to join the classes as they're very welcoming and offer plenty of modifications for each participant.

Pros - Has some great programs - love Conditioning Swim! Redone with all new tile - looks great. The staff are fantastic and always willing to talk to you about any concerns. Super friendly! Cons - I wish there were hooks in the bathroom stalls. No hot tub. Parking can be INSANE when the school has an evening event. Even worse in the winter. I am a fan of this pool! Nothing fancy but it does the trick for my workouts.

Outdoor swimming pool
Mount Pleasant Outdoor Pool is a fantastic place for the whole family to enjoy. It features pools for both adults and kids, including toddlers. The outdoor setting provides a great atmosphere for swimming. The heated water allows for comfortable and extended swims, with varying depths catering to different preferences. While there are limited lounges, visitors can bring their own seating. Booking and organization are well-handled, ensuring a pleasant experience for all visitors. The pool area is surrounded by trees, adding to its appeal.
Mount Pleasant Outdoor Pool is hands-down one of the most refreshing spots in Calgary. From the moment you walk in, the vibes are soaking in fun, family, and sun. The water is always crystal clear and the perfect temp to dive right in—no shivers, no complaints, just pure poolfection. The lifeguards? Total wave-makers—super friendly, always alert, and keeping things safe while still letting everyone float their boat. The facilities are well-kept, the lounge area is ideal for a mid-swim sun soak, and the atmosphere is nothing short of chlorine dreams. Whether you’re doing cannonballs, chilling on the deck, or just there for a quick dip, this place will have you saying, “I’m never pooling out!” 💧 5/5 stars. Would splash back anytime. 🏊‍♂️

This was a blast! The floors in the change rooms could have been cleaner but other than that it was a great time!
Cassie C — Google review
Nice pool not too big. Lots of people not enough space for the pool half the grass is taped off. Not to mention you pay to get it. In 1.30 mins they kick you out! Just fyi no family change rooms either. Pool leaves white marks on skin not sure if thats the paint or chlorine.
Dasha K — Google review
By far my favourite outdoor pool in the city. This location seems to be the only location concerned about safety and has some structure and rules. Lifeguards are alert and attentive. Getting chairs or a table can be tough as they do allow back to back bookings but don't make people give up / leave their spots between sessions.
Nikki D — Google review
Quite organized when it comes to booking and organization for the following session of visitors. The water temperature in the pools was fantastic. The kids area is nice but don’t expect colourful slides or two fo them. There was just one but it wasn’t too bad for us as there were not many toddlers that Saturday. The place is old but showers worked fine as well as the lockers. We really enjoyed our day.
K S — Google review
The Staff/Lifeguards are exceptional. The pool has the perfect temperature and washroom and change area were clean. This was our 5th time here and we will come back again. They also have life jackets to use free of charge.

Public swimming pool
On a scorching summer day, the Bowview Outdoor Pool is an ideal destination for families looking to make a splash. This delightful pool features a whimsical mushroom water spray that kids absolutely adore, making it easier for little ones to acclimate to the water. The wading pool offers just the right depth for young swimmers to practice their skills while having fun. Visitors will appreciate not only the clean and inviting waters but also the vibrant atmosphere and tasty food options available on-site.
This has been my fave outdoor pool for lane swim in Calgary for quite a few years now. I especially like the soft cushy liner in the basin. An outdoor pool on a hot summer day is definitely a happy place for me! A way to make the pool visit even better would be to do away with the reflective barrier at the reception so that visitors can much better see and hear the staff on the other side. The way it is now, about all I see is a reflection of the parking lot outside and the muffled voice of the lifeguard within. Leaning down to the little slot at the counter surface to converse with those within is not ideal. To maintain security between both sides of the reception counter, and to promote good easy communications back and forth, how about a "wicket" style of reception wall? See attached image from the COSPA Millican-Ogden as a good example of what I have in mind. Anyway, keep up the good work there with having such an awesome pool to swim at! :-)
Peter L — Google review
Pool was pretty clean (of course, it was the first day after the opening), with warm water. But the shower was so cold, that I doubt anyone would take it in advance...
Olga C — Google review
worst customer service. the girl who works in sunday evenings at the reception gave us wrong information that its open for all and its 6$ per individual. we drove from canmore and when we reached reception, she mentioned its only for families, when inquired why you didnt inform us earlier in call she said sorry that was a mistake u shud look up in website before coming. lol why is she even working their to provide information via calls if she recommends clients to look at the website as she might make mistakes...
Melissa S — Google review
Loved how many lifeguards there were. Seems like they are on a rotation so there were always 4 there. They have lifejackets for the little ones and do swim tests to make sure the older kids can be in the deep end
Kyle R — Google review
Have visited on a hot day with a toddler and a baby. The little kid area could be a little more fun. Even our 1yo got bored after 15mins. It’s clean, tidy and staff is friendly.
Maria E — Google review
Absolutely BS experience they don't tell you that you need to register before you come to a pool after taking my kids on the long c train ride in plus 30 weather just to get denied
Jacqueline F — Google review
We walked 20 minutes in blazing hot heat just to read a sign on the front door that quote " No drop ins untill 2:35" when it was 12:45. It didn't say anything on the website. When we got there the lady in the front said " Sorry no drop ins" in the most snappy voice ever.

Nestled in the heart of Marlborough, the Forest Lawn Outdoor Pool offers a variety of amenities for swimmers of all ages. From an 8-lane pool for serious swimmers to wading pools for those looking to cool off, this facility has something for everyone. The heated pools ensure that visitors can enjoy a swim even on cooler days. With lifeguards on duty and a maximum depth of 4 1/2 feet, it's a safe and family-friendly environment.
A huge shout out for the team/ staff at forest lawn pool. We have been going to a different pool everyday this week and had unpleasant experiences especially with staff. This team should be rewarded for their care nd patience. Especially with the kids. The facility is clean and I will be coming again with my daughter. Great work Forest Lawn.

I live in Marlborough, been here for years. Which is a stones throw from my place. I had no idea this pool was even here! I took my two boys here on a Sunday, only 5$! There are pool restrictions, 2hrs only, but for 5$, you can't complain! There are lifeguards, which is nice, as this is maximum 4 1/2 feet deep (no diving) . There is a little kiddies pool also for younger children. A great place, we will try to be back weekly!

A wonderful welcome by reception, approachable and informative security staff, and one of the cleanest office buildings I've had the opportunity to tour. Worked an event in the conference area and happy to recommend this location, the building management and operating staff for any conference, function, event or causal meeting. Thank you Cadillac Fairview!

Bowness Park Wading Pool, located at the east end of Bowness Park along the Bow River, is a popular spot for families with young children. The unguarded wading pool features some spray pad areas and operates from 9 a.m., typically open from mid-June until fall. While there is no shade within the pool itself, there are shaded areas nearby for parents to relax. Visitors can enjoy the cold and refreshing water as kids have fun playing with small fountains.
Clean wading pool with plenty of green space to find shade. A bit of a trek from the parking lot, so bring your wagon if you have stuff to haul.

Great facility however just be careful if you're in and around that area. There's always security on site but it is known to be a problematic area overrun with homeless and addiction issues loitering and urinating in public places
