Gay bar
Bar
Flicks is a popular gay bar located in the heart of Hillcrest, San Diego. It offers a lively and festive atmosphere with games, karaoke, and over 15,000 video clips for entertainment. The bar has been a local favorite for over 33 years and features all-day happy hour on weekdays and welfare Wednesdays with affordable drink specials. On Saturdays, visitors can participate in the Underwear Show for a chance to win $100.
Fun times! Everyone is welcome. Total dance party until around 11pm, then you’re packed in like sardines with no room to dance. So just one hour of a good time and then it’s time to leave.

This was our first, nightly stop in SD. Had such an amazing time. The DJ was great, way better than the DJ playing at Rich's nightclub next door to be honest. Gogo boys knew how to drop it low. Was actually impressed. The place was packed, but it was a ton of fun. Drinks were surprisingly strong, too - guaranteed us a good time.

FUN AND FESTIVE FRIENDLY BAR . GREAT BARTENDERS . OUTDOOR SEATING . AMAZING DJS AND DANCE FLOORS . FANTASTIC EVENTS
Jonathan M — Google review
My boyfriend was assaulted at the bar after accidentally spilling his drink. We are new to the Hillcrest area and this was a terrible first experience at the bar. While the staff was nice a customer pushed my boyfriend down after he accidentally spilled his drink, and then threw water on him and kicked him in the face and the staff did nothing to mediate the attack nor rectify the situation.
Andrew G — Google review
Music was great, vibes were awesome. Bartenders look a little snappy. Only one stall in the restroom and like 5 urinals. ALSO, I didn’t realize it because I was a little typsy (unit I took a look at my total and the man said he couldn’t go back to change it when I was about to sign) but one of the persons walking around with $4 shots had their minimum tipping setting at $4. They’re able to put down their minimum and I feel like they’re taking advantage of people who are a bit under the influence. Of course when you’re a little drunk you’re feeling typsy, but that was plain out wrong to start your minimum tipping option at $4 for a $4 drink. I’ve had this happen at Rich’s on Halloween before. High cover and then asking for a high tipping option that started at $25, just beware because sometimes we don’t check the screen and think the tipping option is going to start at something like 20% not 100%. Crazy.
Leticia L — Google review
Came here for Pride 2025. Cover was $20 a person, and the place was packed. The dancers theme, vibe, etc. didnt really seem any different than normal, so it didn't really feel very special for the $20 cover, but it's still a great place to vibe (better than Rich's with a $40 cover).
Sam B — Google review
I was roofied here. TWO friends had their phones stolen. Staff didn’t care, didn’t help, and did nothing. No security, no urgency, no accountability. This bar is unsafe, and the staff is complicit. Do not go here if you want a fun time. There are much better (and safer) places. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
Conor R — Google review
Extremely rude security guard demanded I open my small bag so he could finger thru it, which is illegal btw. GM refused to do anything about it. Stop hiring bitter nasty employees that don't even follow the law or have any customer service mindset. Not spending money or time here ever again. Gays need to stand up to these awful businesses.

Urban MO's Bar & Grill is a vibrant and inclusive LGBTQ+ gathering spot located in San Diego. The venue boasts a lively dance floor, themed nights, and an inviting outdoor patio. It's a popular choice for happy hour, offering delicious burgers and strong cocktails served with playful plastic farm animal decorations. Showtunes Spaghetti Tuesdays are a must-try event featuring all-you-can-eat spaghetti and sing-alongs to beloved musical hits.
The food is great, service is even better. They're so welcoming and are always happy to come around to check on you but give you plenty of time to browse their menu. Love the vibe here and will keep coming back!

We visit San Diego frequently. When we are in town, we like to go to Mo's for happy hour and an early dinner. The food is surprisingly good for a bar! We have never been disappointed. The other evening, Adam was our server. He was attentive and charming. One of our orders came out of our kitchen wrong and he immediately caught it as it was being delivered to our table. Adam stopped by a few times to see if we needed anything else. Good food & good service - What more can you ask for?
Steven M — Google review
This place is a lot of fun!!! Gay brunch is always a good time, lasts hours, and usually has a live DJ spinning good music. Bring your friends and have fun!!! The food is also really good!
Christopher V — Google review
We just arrived in town 3 days ago and every time we go by its packed, so we stopped in today and its great. A little loud on my end since its hard for me to hear with all the background music. The menu has plenty of breakfast items along with salads, burgers and wraps. We split the Mo Burger, so delicious, it was served pre cut in half with an extra plate!

POPULAR BAR AND RESTAURANT WITH OUTDOOR BAR AND SEATING . FESTIVE ATMOSPHERE AND BARTENDERS . NICE SELECTION OF SEATING AREAS . GREAT MENU AND COCKTAIL LIST
Jonathan M — Google review
This was everything I ever hoped, I've been a huge fan of drag race since I was in 5th grade, and I recently moved here to go to school for jewelry design. And i got to go to my first drag show and see one of my absolute favorite queens and one of the first drag queens I ever saw on drag race. Meeting Chad Michaels and seeing him live was everything I hoped. I can't wait to see more shows, and the drinks are good too. I have really bad anxiety but I got 3 drinks and i was able to enjoy the show. I 100% recommend this place. Especially if it's your first drag show. It's a damn good place to see a show and the queens are everything. The outfits, the energy...etc it was just everything i hoped for.
Ann W — Google review
My friends brought me here for a surprise birthday drag brunch and it was SO FUN. Like seriously 12/10 a good time! But more surprising to me was how good brunch was! I got the rosemary hash and like… YUM. It was soo good! But everything my group got was delicious. The service was exceptional and just a really nice day out!
Lisa — Google review
Great bar and great food. Bubbles for Brunch was a wonderful time. The performers really know how to work a crowd. Bottomless mimosas 🍾 were excellent. I spilled a drink at the bar and the bartenders cleared it away in no time and had a replacement at the ready. I wish I could stay longer and enjoy some more of their daily events. Next time!

Gay bar
Bar
Pecs Bar is a laid-back gay bar located just east of the Hillcrest neighborhood. It's known for its relaxed atmosphere, diverse crowd, and outdoor patio where patrons can enjoy drinks and people-watching. The bar offers happy hours, pool tables, and hosts themed nights like bear and otter nights. With its inexpensive high-octane drinks and friendly staff, Pecs Bar is a popular spot for both locals and visitors looking to unwind in a welcoming environment.
Had so much fun here tonight despite my anxiety and shyness got to me but still people are nice. It is a good environment, the bartenders is nice. The bartender that served me was helpful, nice and talk to me here and there. The old gays that talked to me and all randomly and called me Hennessy were so nice and welcoming and helped me a bit to break away from the shyness. Great environment to meet people and talk. I wish I was not overwhelmed, awkward and was the verge of breaking down because of my shyness. Lmao Overall amazing, fun, spectacular, great drinks, nice staff, nice people. Would come again whenever I am in San Diego!!!!
Victor C — Google review
If i could give it 0 stars I would. I was visiting SD from Atlanta and decided to make a stop at Pecs for a drink after a day at the park. As soon as my partner and I came in, the vibes from the bar tender were off. We proceed to order 2 long islands for us and paid. A gnat flew into my drink and I told the bartender and he was immediately visibly upset about it. I asked if he could remake my drink and he said ‘I mean yeah but is that an actual bug?’ Which was clearly sitting at the bottom of the drink. He takes the drinks and asks other people sitting at the bar if they could see a bug and he’s making smart remakes the whole time. Now he’s really upset and he toses the drink out and starts slamming things when fixing my second drink. The whole time throwing a tantrum like a little brat. Once my drink is ready he puts it in front of me and hands me a paper coaster and tells me to put it on top of my drink because he’s not making me another if a bug gets in it. Trevor, the old queen was nothing but rude, mean and miserable. I heard someone call him Trevor. I am never coming back to this establishment. He’s clearly a racist as my partner and I are men of color and there's no other reason as we weren't rude or demanding towards him. I demand that his place do better if you’re going to include black and brown in your rainbow flags…
Ariel P — Google review
Great bar but the only let down is customer service if that bothers you at all. A very busy bar with passive aggressive service including a bit of proudness if that’s your cup of tea . The bar could achieve 5 stars but the staff and toilets let down this place for more potential. The washroom is shared with a urinal and toilet in the same room, again if that’s your cup of tea then this might be a place for you to hog. Being a visitor to San Diego this bar seems very well established with locals so it very difficult to mingle with the locals. The drink's from the taps don’t taste too good more likely that there is a maintenance issue with pipe cleaning. The soft drinks tastes unusual including the beer. I was offered an alternative to red bull and that tasted off. I went to order a third drink Big Wave and that also did not taste the same as the one I had at the Pizza Shop in the main gay village. The venue has a pool table and tv screens . Soft drinks 3 out of 10 Largers 4 out of 10 Customer service 3 out of 10 Location 3 out of 10 Washroom Facilities 2 out of 10

Busy Saturdays and abnormally crowded if that's your thing. Friendly service and decent prices. Sundays Backyard is wonderful, give it a try!
GL P — Google review
My cousins and I had a disappointing experience at Pecs Bar that left us feeling judged and unwelcome. We were originally heading home when one of my cousins decided he wanted to stop and check out Pecs for a quick drink — so we turned back and went in. At the entrance, the security guard with the black beard let a guy in who admitted he didn’t have an ID. The guard literally said, “You guys don’t have ID?” and still waved them through. Then, when it was our turn, he stopped us and asked if we had “too much to drink,” just because we walked back around the building before coming in. We were calm, respectful, and said we were heading home via Uber. But the way he treated us felt personal — like he didn’t like us from the moment we walked up. We still went in, had one drink, and left after about 30 minutes because none of us felt comfortable. We even told someone inside what happened, and the response was, “We have no control over that.” No apology. No concern. Letting someone in without any ID is against the law, and treating other customers unfairly isn’t acceptable. Pecs Bar needs to hold their door staff accountable — especially when their behavior turns people away for no good reason.
Samuel A — Google review
I like going expect when they have the older bartender, He straight out lied to me to not serve me. And i was there like less than a week before. He said my id was expired which was not and then said it having a hole was a problem. Its hole punched so I have it on my necklace or somewhere where I dont lose it when im drunk lol. I just ended up leaving not causing a scene but i will return when that old dude is not there. 😘
No N — Google review
I waited 30 mins waiting for a drink at the bar. I felt stupid going out of my way and trying to get the bartenders attention. It was my first time going to Pecs and it is the only bar that has ever ignored me the way they did.

American restaurant
Gossip Grill is an LGBT-friendly bar and restaurant that offers a unique experience with quirky cocktails and American comfort food. It is part of a small consortium of LGBTQ bars and eateries, including Baja Bettys, Hillcrest Brewing Company, Gossip Grill, and InsideOUT. The venue stands out as one of the few women's dance bars in California and serves internationally inspired food.
Was visiting from New York and we went here twice, once for brunch and once for happy hour and drinks. Very nice atmosphere and the swing chairs around the fire pit were a nice touch. The food at brunch was delicious and they had an Easter egg hunt because we were there for Easter. The staff and bartenders were very friendly and helpful telling us about the local area since we were from our or state and it was our first time visiting. Would absolutely return if I was in the area again!

Stumbled upon this place it was so beautiful and nice!! The bartender was helpful explaining the happy hour menu. Drinks were good we had mimosas and beer, wish I would’ve tried their cocktails but definitely will next time. Food was amazing and was really fresh, can’t wait to come back!!

BEST HALLOWEEN EVER! Thank you so so much for the security guard and Aubrey for honoring our reservation even though they were super busy and the line was really long. The food (spinach dip) was KILLER and the music WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD! Thank you to the DJ for playing Huntrix, it was needed. WILL BE COMING BACK!!🩷

I had spam musubi benny. Absolute favorite breakfast I've had in a long time. The poached eggs were phenomenal. Hollandaise sauce possibly could have used a little more seasoning but overall those eggs benedict were to die for. Atmosphere was great, especially with it being Pride month. Service was on point. Thank you for the best meal of the week so far! 🏳️‍🌈

I feel SAFE here. No men groping me. Staff that calls out poor behavior. Consistent events, great music, local and small businesses collaborations- I’ve come multiple times from Colorado and even popped my business up a few times because I felt so comfortable and welcome! Amazing food, can’t recommend the chicken tenders enough! The staff are all their own color of amazing, shoutout to Joey, and Brit. I hope to come back one day soon! 💕
Annie M — Google review
I loved it here! Friendly and safe atmosphere. The staff was very kind and welcoming! Karaoke was fun even though I didn't participate 🤗
Cookie C — Google review
I came here expecting a fun night out, good music, and a lively atmosphere. Instead, the bar decided to kill the vibe mid-party by stopping everything to deliver a lecture to men about approaching women. Nothing says “buzzkill” like halting the music and turning a good time into a forced PSA. Look, people come out to dance, socialize, and enjoy themselves—not to sit through condescending speeches. If management wants to host workshops, they should schedule them separately, not hijack the night when everyone is in the middle of enjoying themselves. For me, that was the last straw. Plenty of other spots in town keep the energy alive without killing the mood. I won’t be coming back.

Gay bar
The Loft is a popular bar located in San Diego's gay neighborhood, Hillcrest. It is known for its open-fronted layout, social bar-seating, pool table, and jukebox. The bar attracts an older crowd and has friendly bartenders who are always willing to chat and provide local advice. It's a laid-back locals' spot where patrons can enjoy affordable, well-poured cocktails and shoot pool while listening to tunes on the jukebox.
A wonderful place to go. Although I’ve had some experiences with An ex partner who to belittled me and said bad things about me to the ownership. Now I have been a constant customer for the last 10 years. I have done nothing but promote attract customers. Basically an ambassador. However, I was 86 because my ex cast dispersions upon me.And the people that were my friends. Took their back to me. I will not go back as of soon. But once MANAGEMENT and myself clear this up I’m sure that it will be my home bar again. But do enjoy this establishment.!!!

I'm not gay but my friend is and I met him at the bar to chat and catch up. What a cool place to visit! Bartender was excellent and they have a pool table. Nice vibe, very welcoming. What more can you ask for. Beer is $8. I was a little surprised by that, but then again I don't know how much a beer costs anymore.
EWD — Google review
This small, yet busy, fun, casual, no-nonsense bar has been a go-to hangout for most of my friends and I. I would say this bar has something to offer for anyone, whether gay or straight. There's also more tables and chairs in the back patio. Recommend 👍🏼

Great neighborhood bar. Everybody is comfortable in their own skin. Every race, generation and phylum of LGBTQ patron was well represented. The bar staff was exemplary, best in class. I really like this place and likely, you will too.

Terrible service from bartenders: they took too long to reach to service, had to repeat my order until I had to scream it, it was not loud nor busy; bartender's attitude was the complete opposite of friendly. TERRIBLE!

Cheers is a cozy and unpretentious neighborhood gay bar located in the charming University Heights area. It has been flourishing for over 35 years, attracting a loyal following of regulars with its laid-back atmosphere and daily drink specials. The bar hosts seasonal events like karaoke on Monday and Tuesday nights, trivia night, and even offers free burgers and hot dogs on Sundays.
Great neighborhood bar. Friendly staff. I've gone there off and on for 30+ years. One pool table. AMI jukebox, smoking area. Very close to several fine restaurants and Trolley Barn Park. Packaged snacks are available. Affordable prices. An intimate and friendly bar. In my opinion, this is a gay bar and also welcoming to respectful non-gay clientele. Friendly regulars who aren't territorial.

A great neighborhood bar that feels warm and welcoming from the moment you walk in. It was my first time here, but definitely not my last! Cozy vibes, attractively priced drinks ! This is exactly the kind of dive bar I’m into.

Don't bother coming in here if you're not a regular or if you're a straight man. They cater to gays only with the exception of one older black gentleman. The female bartenders will treat you bad if you are new to this bar. What a dump....

Love this bar! Such a quiet little dive right next to Lancers. most of the bartenders are very easy going and friendly, however there is one bartender in particular that can be unfriendly and looks like he hates his job. Other than him it's a very chill and easy going bar

Love that on Sundays there is free burgers and dogs from the grill, sometimes there is pulled pork too. 50 cent pool table if you're up for a game after a drink or two. Some of the bar tenders are cool, some can be rude. Overall I like this spot, they have reasonably priced drinks and the regulars are good people.

This neighborhood bar is a best-kept secret of San Diego. Our bartender a couple Saturdays ago was really friendly and welcoming and we had a great time sitting at the bar, chatting with the other folks there (a nice mix of LGBT and straight) and playing songs on the Jukebox. This is our go-to place.

Gay bar
Number One Fifth Avenue is a beloved gay-friendly dive bar located in the heart of Hillcrest, San Diego. With an easygoing vibe and a welcoming atmosphere, it has been a neighborhood institution for nearly 40 years. The slender indoor bar leads to an inviting back patio with pool tables, making it a popular hangout spot for both locals and tourists. The bar offers live entertainment, including drag shows with incredible performances, creating a safe and fun space for the community.
Went here for the back patio specifically as I was told that might be a drag show and it was outstanding!!! Wasn’t sure what to expect when I walked in to a very divey chill spot with a mostly older crowd, but as I opened the door to the back patio us was like a whole different venue! Performers were very talented and made the most of a small crowd on a weeknight. Highly recommend, support local artists!

This was my first visit, but it won’t be my last! We enjoyed playing Pictionary on the back patio and we also heard some very untalented people singing karaoke inside. The bartender was very friendly and easygoing. I particularly loved the “please don’t do cocaine in our restroom” sign!

Yesterday, we visited Number One Bar on 5th and were initially having a great time—until an unfortunate and completely unacceptable incident ruined the night. My brother, who was visiting from out of town, lit a joint inside the bar, unaware that it wasn’t allowed here (where he’s from, it’s legal and common to smoke in bars). While I fully acknowledge that lighting up indoors was against the rules, the response from the female security guard was entirely out of line. Rather than addressing the situation with words or a warning, she immediately smacked my brother in the face while trying to grab the joint. This not only burned his lip and beard, but she also extinguished the cherry on his sweater—completely uncalled for and excessive. There was absolutely no need for physical contact. A simple, “Hey, you can’t smoke in here,” would have been enough. No one is saying my brother was right to light up—but there’s a big difference between enforcing rules and crossing the line into physical aggression. This kind of behavior by staff is dangerous and unprofessional, and it reflects very poorly on the establishment. I hope management seriously addresses this incident and considers better training for conflict de-escalation. A great night quickly turned into a very troubling experience.

We've been here 2 days in row me and my brother and his hubby and tonight we go and get turned away because my feet were hurting and walked up a little funny. Not ever buzzed but the chick running things was acting like her stuff was above us. Uncalled for We've been spending a lot of money there last 2 days. Do better and don't let females run the door

SRO Lounge is a popular gay lounge bar located in Prado Terrace, known for its laid-back yet glamorous atmosphere with deep red walls and chandeliers. It has been serving strong and affordable drinks for over 35 years. The bar offers a daily happy hour from 2-7 and hosts Gurlz Nite Out on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a favorite spot for the LGBTQ+ community.
We were in town for San Diego Pride and stopped in for cocktails. This is one of the oldest gay bars in San Diego and has a really fun old school vibe. The drinks are made well by the friendly bartenders. The prices are very reasonable too. We loved the way the bar was decorated and had fun! You really need to check it out.

This place is amazing. Been going there since 2013. It’s the most welcoming environment. Very 🏳️‍⚧️ AND 🏳️‍🌈 FRIENDLY. Both PEDRO & PEDRO, LAUR, LILY & SEBASTIAN are great hosts. Very delicious drinks at great prices. SEX ON THE BEACH= best drink on the menu (maybe I’m just being biased). Pool table in the back & a music box. HAPPY HOURS are great it you’re just trying to relax. Friday and Saturday nights are best to interact with a lot more people & make new friends. 10/10 (:

Hillcrest Brewing Company Bar & Pizzeria is a vibrant LGBT hangout in San Diego, known for being the world's first gay brewery. The lively atmosphere features high ceilings, a dog-friendly patio, and an extensive beer selection with cheeky names like Banana Hammock Scotch Ale and Crotch Rocket Irish Style Red Ale. Alongside their house-brewed beers, they offer stone-fired pizzas, wings, and house-made pretzels.
We love Hillcrest Brewing! It's a nice spot to grab a beer and hang with friends. The drinks, food, and service are always great! They have "hoppy hour" every day from 2-6 pm which gets you a couple bucks off beer and wine. If you need food recs, I HIGHLY recommend the garlic nuts and the cheeseburger pizza to share! I kid you not, I crave their cheeseburger pizza and will literally go to Hillcrest Brewing just to order it. In general, you can't go wrong at Hillcrest Brewing!

This past Sunday, we wanted to try a new place. The door wench here has no sense of humor and a miserable disposition. She made it very clear that dogs are not appreciated at this establishment. SO, We went to Uptown Tavern instead and had a fun time where Winston was welcomed by both staff and customers. The food, atmosphere and clientele were exceptional at Uptown. If you have a pooch, suggest Uptown instead!!

First time trying their wings and they're good. I got the spicy wings (not spicy to me, but good flavor). They also have buffalo, BBQ among other flavors. The wings are baked, so they will take 20 min or more to arrive. They have a huge selection of beers; mostly their own and some guest beers, cocktails, wine and NA beers. Whether you choose to sit outside, inside or by the bar, you know you'd get great service and you might even get to interact with the regulars and the staff there. I love this place!

Took my mom here and the team there was beyond accommodating. My mom is sarcastic, particular, and has an accent. Our server was attentive, accommodating, delightful, and funny, even as he had to pivot his understanding of my mom’s sense of humor. The food was excellent and sitting on the patio was nice on a breezy night (no AC was on). Limited menu food wise but the service was truly beyond exceptional.

Gay night club
Dance club
Gay bar
Rich's is a vibrant gay nightclub located in the lively Hillcrest Gaybourhood of San Diego. It is one of the city's largest and most popular LGBTQ+ venues, featuring two spacious rooms with their own bars and dance floors where energetic crowds can enjoy music from various DJs. The club hosts a range of fun events such as drag shows, underwear contests, and lesbian nights throughout the week.
A top-notch LGBTQ+ dance club, with two large dance floors, three bars, and a huge patio. When I was there they had a drag contest in the back dance floor, and the front was open with a different DJ for dancing. I was especially impressed with the gigantic patio, with many little cabanas where people could just lounge and have a conversation. I Would love to do fortune-telling there.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Security is supposed to make you feel safe—not violate your boundaries. One of your guards clearly thinks a badge gives him the right to put his hands on people, and I experienced that firsthand. While trying to make my way to the bathroom, I was repeatedly touched and blocked for no reason other than this man’s power trip. When I stood up for myself and called out his inappropriate behavior—something others had also experienced—he escalated it and falsely claimed I was “drunk and disorderly.” That’s when I was manhandled by multiple guards. I wasn’t drunk. I wasn’t causing a scene. I was trying to leave the situation with dignity. Instead, I was disrespected, cornered, and touched in ways no one should be—especially not by a stranger using their position to harass people. Litigation is being considered, and I suggest management take a hard look at who they’re employing before someone ends up seriously harmed or your club ends up shut down. You don’t get to assault people and hide behind a security shirt. Any manager should be embarrassed. Your employee discriminately put his hands on me without cause, then weaponized the full force of your security team based on nothing but his own ego and assumptions. I was trying to walk to the bathroom; sober, calm, and minding my business- only to be repeatedly touched, blocked, and harassed by someone who clearly doesn’t understand boundaries or professionalism. When I called out his behavior, instead of accountability, I got escalation. No one stopped to ask what actually happened. Instead, I was treated like a problem and physically grabbed by multiple guards. That tells me everything I need to know about how your club deals with people—especially gay men—who speak up. If this is how you handle “drunk people,” even when they aren’t drunk, then your staff aren’t trained, they’re just dangerous and more concerned about themselves. I’ll be pursuing this through the proper channels, because this kind of behavior isn’t just unprofessional, it’s unlawful.
Wiliam S — Google review
Overserving their guest and then kicking them out on the street with no safety concerns. If you do go, be careful here and make sure you go with friends that KEEP AN EYE ON YOU. It’s just not safe anymore. The workers at Rich’s don’t care about your safety they just want your money. Too worried about keeping your liquor license to call an ambulance for your patrons. Do the right thing and make sure everyone has a good time and gets home safe.

This was my first, and certainly my last, visit to Rich's Gay Nightclub. My husband and I chose to celebrate his birthday here, and the experience was deeply disappointing. The most significant issue was the unprofessional and rude staff behavior. When I approached the counter to order a drink, I initially received no acknowledgment from the first bartender. Assuming it was the noise, I asked again, only to be chastised and told I was "rude" for interrupting—despite the bartender never indicating they were busy or saying they would be right with me. After apologizing, the bartender still seemed reluctant to take my order. Shockingly, I moved to a different part of the bar and had a similar, negative interaction with a second staff member. It seems to be standard practice for bartenders here to accuse customers of being rude for simply trying to order a drink. Beyond the staffing issue, the value is simply not there. The overpriced drinks, combined with the unfriendly demeanor of the security staff, do not justify the high cost of the experience. We expected a welcoming, celebratory environment and received the exact opposite.

We had a blast here on the emo Taking Back Thursday night. The bar staff is all super sweet, including the gogo boys and DJs and bartenders. There is a huge patio here if you’re not feeling the DJ or the night. We loved having the option to go from the emo night to the hip-hop night but wish that the Latin/hip-hop side would have been more Poppin. Big Ups to the taking back Thursday DJ, who is so sweet and kind and also put on a killer performance.

If someone stole ur phone make sure that u leave a bad review here😁 sings in the club don’t really help. They just open ur bag while you are dancing and take ur phone. 1. Noone care in the club about your phone and they will never help you. Even if you text them…just get a new phone, don’t waste your time. 2. Police will never come too. 3. If ur phone will appear in LA - the tall thin black guy stole it. 4. Richs has many phones in their storage but u will never find out if they have your phone there. 5. Apple care theft and lost+icloud backup might save your night😁

The Rail is a historic gay bar that has been a landmark of the San Diego gay scene since the 1930s. Originally located in Downtown's Orpheum Theatre building, it later moved to Hillcrest and still maintains its enticing lounge-style atmosphere with post-Prohibition-era decor. The venue offers artisanal cocktails, indoor/outdoor patio areas, and hosts various events such as fetish nights and Latin dance nights with go-go dancers.

I've been here twice; once when it was totally packed, and once when it was nearly empty before their main event began. This place will obviously be very loud, but the performances tend to be fun and the themes are nice! I've only had a few simple drinks from here, but they were nice. Can be a little pricey as they will sometimes have overhead fees, but the free bathroom condoms could make up for that depending on who you are. Oh, and the bathrooms are all gender, which is a big plus in my opinion (shorter lines). They had an attendant in there, too. I'd come back!

It was a chill spot. A friend was performing there and all and all it was a great time. It's a quaint spot with a lot of chill folks working there. The only complaint is the parking is find your own spot on the street somewhere, but It wasn't busy when I got there so it wasn't a big problem. The bartender was chill, they have the single person bathrooms which means you'll do some waiting when it gets busy, but hey, you didn't come to use the restroom, right? I'd go back for sure though. Cool spot.

Been a hot minute since going … but from last visit: Mixed feelings. Went on a very busy pride night. If you've been to a leather bar before, you know the drill. **Please do not be that friend who brings your sassy girlfriends to what is considered a “men’s” leather bar.** Very small location. But there is a dark room. Just very very compact!

This is a failing bar. We were the only ones there for about 30 minutes. The bartender didn't even know about the scheduled activities. Learned the owner supports trump and we won't be back! To bad.
Mlevario1 — Google review
I recently visited the San Diego Eagle with a group of friends and had an extremely disappointing experience. Despite the bar's reputation for being a welcoming space, we were asked to leave simply because a few of us didn't immediately buy a drink. This treatment felt unfair and unwelcoming, especially since we were planning to stay and enjoy the evening. The bar seems to cater primarily to an older crowd, and it became evident that younger patrons are not as welcome. The atmosphere, which could have been inclusive and friendly, was instead marred by this unpleasant encounter. I would not recommend the San Diego Eagle to anyone looking for a genuinely hospitable and inclusive experience. There are plenty of other places in San Diego that are far more welcoming and accommodating.
Cody V — Google review
Came to San Diego with my boyfriend and 2 out-of-town friends to give them the California experience. Was very ashamed and disappointed that after being a patron of this establishment for years, we were rejected bc the couple we invited to join us was rejected for not purchasing drinks. “California law prohibits us from accepting patrons who do not purchase drinks. You just leave,” said the bartender. He poured out our drinks and demanded our exit. Very disappointing. Would not recommend. Based on the vibe, it appeared they only accepted older, more masculine (straight-presenting) patrons. Shameful sight for our community imho.
Eric M — Google review
Went to this place with a group of 4. We entered and tried to order drinks for me and my boyfriend but my other friends were sober and the bartender told us " according to California law everyone at the bar has to have a drink." In an condescending tone then he dumped our drink and we left. When my partner and I visited this bar last year we had no issues with a younger bartender, the older bartenders on the night of 5/22/ morning of 5/23 seems to be trying to keep appearances or cater to a crowd that we apparently didn't fit.

I have been going to the Eagle off and on since 1997. I like the type of bar patrons there. I like especially that it is not a Hillcrest bar. The Eagle is a man's bar serving basic drinks, not fruity umbrella drinks. A majority of the staff is accommodating, attentive and welcoming. We are not usually bothered by negative residents from the high-priced condos nearby.

Uptown Tavern is a great place to go for drinks and American food. The staff is friendly and the patio is stunning. The only downside is that the service can be slow, but overall it's a great spot.
I flew in a national group for a training session to San Diego nearby back in February. We used their newly renovated lounge space in the back for a casual group dinner and drinks. Everyone from the event planner booking us to the on-site manager to our server for the evening were incredible. Menu we put together was perfect, they had just the right amount of food (helped folks take home extras too), great drink prices, and exceptional service. The environment and atmosphere were perfect for a relaxing "end of day" dinner and drinks. Highly recommend folks to work with them for their large groups.

This place isn’t a place you go to have a rager but it’s definitely a nice place to go when you want to grab a drink and have a nice conversation with someone. When I went they were playing loud music as well but they have an event where you could use headphones and listen to different stations playing different types of music. Always a fun time!

Bottom line: Extensive cocktail menu, small bites to share, as well as a full dinner menu, and indoor-outdoor setting make a great happy hour spot. Dog-friendly patio. Brunch seems to be a major attraction, as well. Details: We missed lunch after a long day at the zoo, so popped in at Uptown Tavern for an early happy hour and bites to eat. We had the Sutter Smash (delicious), and the Xocoveza from Stone Brewing. Our food took a little while, but we had fun people watching and nursing our drinks. The veggie sliders (beet patties with goat cheese) and fries were excellent, and I'd definitely order again. The 5-spice wings were a bit of a miss for me. I was hoping they'd be more spice-forward, but the Mister thought they were fine. Weirdly, they were served with pickled ginger, which didn't compliment the flavor, but it was easily picked off. I'd stick to the traditional buffalo wings. The rest of the menu looked promising, but we didn't want to spoil our dinner reservations for later in the night. Note that street parking is very limited, so allow for time to circle around if you're meeting friends. Overall, worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood!

Have come here for a few years and recently joined friends for happy hour once or twice a month. Fridays around 4p can be busy but the staff is on their A game. I discovered the shrimp tostadas and it’s now my go-to, love em! I order mine “naked” without the tostadas and usually a paloma. Just tried the Mexican Mule, not bad.

Uptown Tavern offers a fun environment with great drinks, friendly staff and tasty FRESH food! If you order an appetizer I recommend the hummus! It’s homemade and so good, but be sure you like Garlic! I’d also recommend the sliders because with the combination of the perfectly cooked charbroiled patty, cheddar and sweet bun, it’s really hits the spot! And I’m not one for heavy food, I generally eat healthy but the chicken and waffles are worth giving in for! I know it sounds strange... but give this a try! You won’t go wrong! If your less adventurous try the perfectly battered chicken tenders, you can tell they weren’t frozen!

Great beers, bartenders, food, and atmosphere. Love it here. My Wife goes wild for the parmesan fries, pretty good if i do say so. The wooden board presentation is fantastic. Bitter Bros hazy is so good!

Bar & grill
Restaurant
Redwing Bar & Grill is a popular neighborhood haunt in North Park, San Diego. It offers excellent pub grub and nightly karaoke, making it a lively spot for casual drinks and bites. The bar features theme nights such as sports days, low-cost beer days, and sushi night with fresh Japanese cuisine. Known for its affordable appetizers and diverse drink selection, this dive bar also serves some of the tastiest chicken wings in town.
Great for a night out - always hosting karaoke! More than that, food is always delicious as well. It gets pretty busy at night during karaoke but there are lots of seating options as well including a large space out back.

We love Redwing! We love Tony Jaw! The bar tenders are friendly and make good drinks. The food is delicious; everything we have tried on the menu is very good. We enjoy all the people we have met. It is like one big happy family when we go there for Karaoke with Tony Jaw!

We came here for karaoke night on a Friday. It was crowded but we were able to get our drinks fairly quick as there are two bar areas. We came in as a group and we were able to find spot for all of us to hang out. I loved the vibes as the guests were singing along. I got tater tots and fried pickles and they were tasty and reasonably priced. I would come back for karaoke night again.

Awesome karaoke bar, inclusive space. I came here as a “regular” for a week I was staying for a conference. Loved the vibe of old-timers mixing with GenZ-ers and everyone in between. Big shoutout to TonyJaw and Ginger the Karaoke DJs for the great vibes they brought and keeping everything rolling. I hope I get to come back some day.

I went to the back bar and wanted to sit at a table, but there was water on the floor in the back. I noticed two tables were connected, so I shifted one slightly so I wouldn’t have to step in the dirty puddle or slip. Moments later, the bartender came up angrily and told me I wasn’t allowed to move the tables. I explained I was only doing that to avoid the puddle, but instead of addressing the actual issue, she was rude, aggressive, and disrespectful. The doorman at the entrance was also unfriendly. Staff should treat paying customers with respect — not hostility. Updated Review (in response to owner): I want to clarify what happened at the back bar. There was a puddle of dirty water on the floor, so I shifted one table slightly to avoid stepping in it. The bartender came up angrily, told me I wasn’t allowed to move it, and was extremely rude even after I explained why. The doorman at the entrance was also unfriendly. For the record, I did not “rearrange” furniture or block exits — I only moved a table a few inches because of the puddle your staff never addressed. I chose the tables in the back for privacy, and no, there were not “plenty of other tables” available at the time. Instead of acknowledging the puddle or how aggressively the bartender handled the situation, management keeps doubling down with excuses. The real issue here is not tables — it’s customer service and basic cleanliness. Actions speak louder than words — respectful service and a clean space go a lot further than excuses.

BEST BAR EVER!!! My bf is from San Diego and we come here every time we’re in town to visit. Their karaoke is the best and their bartenders are always friendly. Red Wing is the best!!
Myrissa M — Google review
I'm a fairly regular patron of Redwing and have been for many years. It is one of the best dive bars in San Diego that recently (about a year ago) got a bit of a refresh. It did not lose it's neighbourhood charm with the refresh though, thankfully. Tracy is my fave bartender! She remembers everyone even when you haven't been in the bar in a year. Somehow she even remembers how I love my turkey burger. That brings me to my point: Redwing turkey burgers are the best burger in San Diego. That is not an exaggeration either. I don't eat red meat and I hate veggie burgers well because they're always terrible and the black bean burgers are usually tasteless but when I found the turkey burger at RBG I ate one every day for about 2 weeks. I've turned hardcore carnivores into a lover of these burgers, too! I'm sure it is the juices and stuff on the grill from everything else that makes these so delicious but who cares they are...they should be sampled by everyone. They are always perfectly cooked with the right amount to char and are always super juicy and importantly they are not flattened to death by the chef. RBG has great drink prices and happy hours plus there is a fantastic jukebox and they have karaoke a couple/few times a week. If you come in and it's a bit crowded make your way straight through the bar out to the patio where there is a second bar. The patio bar is usually open Friday through Sunday.

I went on Friday August 22nd to celebrate my sister birthday. We were so excited to do karaoke as this was our first time & we looked forward to. Upon our arrival we went straight to the dj to sign us up and he told us it would be 2 hour wait. So we were just gonna stick around get some drinks and chill for a while. Then like 1 hr passed and i decided to go and see how far the list was and the dj disregarded my presence as i waited patiently. After the song was over i told the dj i would like to sign up and sing a song in Spanish and he said “ we are only taking punk rock or pop rock songs” and i was like but its a karaoke spot and theres no event that specifies that it was going to be a rock themed night. A lady that works there approached me and said “well its the djs birthday and since hes working on his birthday he gets to choose what we play.” I was honestly shocked by that response and reaction from an employee. I responded with “well its not my fault he didnt request the day off & now hes making these rules” & the female employee answered once again and said “its his birthday so hes not taking request” i was honestly upset for the fact that we were looking forward for a fun exciting night. I decided to just walk away and go to the back patio and enjoy the rest of our time there, disregarding what had just occurred for the sake of my sisters birthday celebration. At around 10ish i decided to head out and guess what song was playing “eenie meenie” by justin Bieber. This was not a rock song and i feel like i was being discriminated based on my song choice. How is it that because its the djs birthday hes able to choose the genre of the night and not allow someone to choose the song they want to sing.

Alibi is a casual dive bar located at 1403 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92103. It has a rock 'n roll feel and offers a small outdoor patio, pool tables, and a retro jukebox. The bar is known for its friendly and inclusive atmosphere, welcoming both LBGTQIA individuals and allies. Visitors can enjoy free pool tables, great patio space, good music at the right volume for conversation, chill patrons, and friendly service.
The Alibi is my go-to neighborhood bar. Chill vibe, a good jukebox, and a perfect spot to kick back and relax. I’m mostly into IPAs, and they have good ones like Stone Delicious and Space Dust on tap. I prefer coming during the day when it’s more laid-back, but even at night when it gets busier, the service is always solid. Friendly staff, cool regulars, and just an all-around good spot to hang. Definitely one of my favorites in San Diego.

An oldie but goodie. They only accept cash, but they have an ATM inside. I like coming here to play pool and drink pear cider 😆 they have a few games to play, a long bar, a couple booths inside, and now an outside patio space. Not much to look at. This is where you bring old friends you actually like to hang out with.

Great place for billiards and average drinks with a good atmosphere. Outdoor and open garage air in the bar was cool, reminds me of going out to your friends basement in high school. Bartender was not the nicest about drink selection recommendations. Cash only, not sure why but would have some ideas. Will only come here again if other friends pick it as there’s better and more friendly neighborhood dive bars.

Quarter tables. X2. Old worn and sometimes the cute gets stuck. But that's ok. $1.00 a game. Always has good tunes on the juke box. People are nice. Drinks are generous. Gay or not gay, you'll have a good time. Unless your a douche. Then don't bother. Ava one more thing... Cash only here just so you know

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
The San Diego Zoo is a world-renowned 100-acre zoo that is home to over 12,000 rare and endangered animals from 600 different species. The lush jungle environment created by the zoo's 700,000 types of plants provides an immersive experience for visitors. One of its newest attractions is the Wildlife Explorers Basecamp, which offers interactive displays on insects, amphibians, and other wildlife along with play areas such as a giant treehouse and a splash zone.
Had a fantastic experience. Got there when they opened. Staff was very nice and eager to help or share animal facts. It's a large zoo so you can easily spend an entire day there. Tried a number of snacks and drinks and it was all delicious. If you have sensory issues, recommend going on the morning, it got pretty busy around lunch and the crowds were a little noisy. Morning is a lot easier to get a good view of the animals.
Jonathan C — Google review
This is 100% a world class zoo. They make use of the space extremely well. There's plenty of walking to do, but they make it a wonderful experience. I was thoroughly impressed with the amount of conservation and research that they do as well. I learned all about it on the fantastic double decker bus tour, which I highly recommend. This was an experience that is second to none.
K L — Google review
Very Fun place to go with family and friends Lots of awesome animals compared to other zoo’s. Location is great and heavy parking lot so theres never issues finding a spot! Lots of room even when packed. I have been several times where the park seems full but you never have issues seeing animals across the park due to the high volume. Animals seem to have really nice enclosures and don’t seem unhappy which is relieving for a zoo. Prices range from about $65 for children and adults are usually around $75. For a whole day pass this usually is pretty good price Military get in this location for free and can go anytime.
Cameron M — Google review
The San Diego Zoo is a must see on a San Diego visit! I would say it’s an all day event if you plan to see the entire zoo. I was there from 9am to 5pm! Make sure to bring your comfortable walking shoes! I would recommend taking their bus tour from the start and sitting on the to deck on the right side. You’ll see more of the attractions during the drive than the left. The bus tour is a great starting point and allows you to see a lot of the zoo and animals from a high POV! From there I recommend choosing your important must see animals and go from there! The air cable car is in the middle of the zoo and stops at the polar bear attraction so plan accordingly. Some people like to take it down at the end of their visit because you’ll end up at the entrance but there is more of a line. They do allow water bottles and food. Highly recommend drinking water as it does get hot!

The kids love the zoo and so did WE. Of course these days I feel like you have to go in October because kids under 11 are free with paid adult. We were really excited about the Pandas and that was a complete bust! You can barely see them! The highlight was the horny baboon that pleasured himself right in front of us! Explain that to the kids what he is doing! Overall it was fun and you definitely get your steps in waking the park.
Jeremy J — Google review
I visited the zoo over four years ago and noticed significant improvements and new sections have been added since my last visit. The upgrades have enhanced the overall experience, making it much better than before. One of the highlights was the convenience of valet parking. I particularly enjoyed the reptile section, which was quite impressive. However, I did have to wait nearly 30 minutes to access the Panda section, which was less than ideal, but it was worth it for my kids.

Had the best experience visiting the SD ZOO, definitely not a 1 day experience, so many beautiful animals to see. So beautiful walking thru all the green forest/bamboo. Loved the tour bus & flying thru the sky... Staff was super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Able to bring in own drinks & food. Which is super helpful when bringing kids.

An absolutely amazing experience! 🐯🌿 The San Diego Zoo completely blew me away hands down one of the best zoos I’ve ever been to. The layout is beautiful and super easy to navigate, the animals are clearly well cared for, and the whole place feels like a mix between an adventure park and a nature sanctuary. The staff were just just sooooo friendly, knowledgeable and amazing i never seen employees that care so much for their job and love it so much like the people in this zoo, the exhibits were clean and immersive, and there’s something new to see around every corner from playful pandas to majestic tigers and adorable koalas 🐼🦒. You can tell the zoo really prioritizes conservation and education, not just entertainment. Also, the Skyfari aerial tram was such a cool touch seeing the zoo from above was unreal! 🚡 Highly recommend spending a full day here if you can. It’s 100% worth it whether you’re with friends, family, or even solo. A true San Diego must-visit. 🌞❤️

Baja Betty's is a vibrant Mexican restaurant located in Hillcrest, San Diego. It's known for its lively atmosphere and inclusive space, offering drag shows and an extensive menu of margaritas. The restaurant is popular for its delicious Taco Tuesday offers, generous mimosa specials during brunch, and welcoming attitude towards dog owners with their four-legged friends.
A solid place for food and drinks. Nachos were good!!!! I got them with short rib, and they did not disappoint. Margarita was perfect. Not too sweet and syrupy like other places, they don't cheat you on the alcohol. The atmosphere has a good vibe, and the servers are lively and fun. Never leave with regrets when coming here. Great for large groups, but if you can, make a reservation.

such a fun little spot. The bartenders are absolute pros and bring the kind of energy that makes you want to stay for “just one more.” Food-wise, I was honestly impressed the street tacos are bomb.com and hit harder than you’d expect from a bar-forward spot. Drinks are strong, the vibe is high, and the whole place is colorful in that “this is where the party starts” kind of way. Whether you’re a San Diego local or just visiting, Baja Betty’s is worth a stop. The atmosphere is lively without being over the top, service is on point, and it’s the type of place that feels like it doesn’t take itself too seriously, in the best possible way. You’ll come for the margaritas, stay for the tacos, and leave already planning your next visit.

While back in SD visiting friends we all met up at Betty's for happy hour. When we lived here we would frequent Betty's all the time so we are familiar with their good food and service. Oh Betty! Absolutely delicious! Babe, just go. Please, just go and see for yourself. I took Heather's word for it with the Carnitas, and fell in love (and not just with Heather 🫶🏼 es un amor)! You know how usually you order carnitas and they're dry? Or they're juicy but have no flavor? These babies are authentic. Riquísimo! The beans, the rice, the salsa, the queso, the fried ice cream, the horchata cold brew, the vibes, the playlist, the decor... Chef's kiss baby 😙👌🏼 all around! Thank you guys for an amazing meal! I'm sorry I completely forgot to take a picture of the food, it was so good!

My son wanted sushi but we decided to stop here instead. Let me tell you, it totally lives up to the hype here. What a wonderful place and I absolutely love the attentiveness of the servers. All sweet and very welcoming. My boyfriend had the al pastor tacos, my son had a quesadilla while I had the keto chicken adobo tacos. Huge portions and absolutely delicious. I loved that they offered a non tortilla option since I'm diabetic. Plus who can't say no to more cheese🧀?! I'll definitely visit again whenever we make it back to the San Diego area. Loved Hillcrest!

It's a popular spot for those who enjoy drag shows and offers some of the best drag queens in the world. The restaurant also hosts a funky gospel brunch with bottomless mimosas. While it's more straight than gay-popular, Lips is a great option for anyone looking to enjoy campy entertainment and fabulous divas over cocktails or a meal.
Came here to take family members to a drag show and left laughing and happy. The steak and eggs were amazing. Someone got the beyond burger and was very pleased. To support the team members make sure to bring cash so they can give you some singles. I brought $60 and still had a few singles left over, so come prepared to tip ;) The ambience was great and the team members were continually engaging and welcoming. What a humorous place to visit and get some laughs in while enjoying a nice meal. Five stars.⭐️

The dinner package, which includes a meal, a drink, and an unforgettable drag show, was totally worth it. The atmosphere at Lips is lively, vibrant, and welcoming—perfect for a fun night out with friends. The drag show itself was top-notch! The performers were incredibly talented, full of energy, and had us laughing, dancing, and cheering the entire time. The energy in the room is contagious, making it impossible not to have a good time. The dinner and drink were surprisingly good, especially considering the entertainment-focused nature of the venue. The food was tasty and filling, and the drink options were great—definitely helped get the party started. Whether you’re a regular at drag shows or a first-timer, Lips is a must-visit in San Diego for a memorable night out. Black's Beach, located beneath the scenic bluffs of Torrey Pines in San Diego, is a renowned clothing-optional beach. Despite its reputation as a gay and nude-friendly spot, it attracts diverse visitors, including families. The beach offers breathtaking views of San Diego's coastal towns and La Jolla, with gliders soaring above the water. Its powerful surf break is favored by experienced surfers due to deep underwater canyons offshore.
Black’s Beach was unbelievably beautiful. I went there for the purpose of taking photos and I captured some really great ones! The hike down to the beach is kinda rough so wear good shoes. Coming back up was even worse. I barely made it. But for me, it was worth the cardio to be able to experience such a quiet and peaceful place. It should be noted that many of the Black’s Beach patrons prefer to lounge in the sun completely nude.

Prepare for a hike. This is a wonderful beach. Yes its a nude beach. Everyone there was friendly. Not everyone was nude. No one was judging and everyone was friendly. The beach is clean and good sized. Has volleyball courts and is easy to walk up and down the shore. Be sure to be ready for the hike down and back up. The cliff is steep but there is a man made path with stair. I suggest good footwear and bring extra water.

Beautiful spot. Not a ton of people. Yes, it is a nude beach. Couple very talkative guys but everyone was nice and respectful. Would go again. A LOT of stairs, A LOT! lol if you don’t mind a hike back to the top, I would highly recommend this beach.

This beach is amazing, but the bathrooms are pretty bad. It’s not really a public area, but you can still enjoy a nice walk along the shore. There’s a small town up the hill, which makes the view even better. The beach part is open to everyone and that’s what makes it worth visiting. You can park your car in the lot and easily walk down to this spot. I’d recommend bringing some snacks and water, and maybe stay for sunset. It’s a chill place to relax and enjoy the ocean.
Uğurcan Ş — Google review
Hands down to this beach. It is unbelievably stunning! There is a bar/cafe and paragliding field before you hike down to the beach. Going back up was tiring but it’s worth it. As tourists in this place, we were surprised by nude beach goers, at first it was awkward for us but people seemed didn’t care about our skin and we got comfortable eventually. The water and sand were beautiful as well as the cliff and paragliding views. Definitely, it becomes one of our favorites and hopefully we can come back soon.

Saw several tiktoks of this place and it seemed very whimsical. The entrance has a separate aesthetic, very nice and clean. The main location is smaller than I thought but it was still very nice in person. (Brunch) Now the food . I got what was kind of a club sandwich with strawberry preserves on the side. I didn’t have high expectations but the strawberry preserves had such a great flavor in combination with the sandwich . If you do choose to visit I’d recommend asking for seating in the main section to enjoy the atmosphere. I would say the only weird parts were the bathroom. It is gender neutral so just be ready for that

Social media can alter expectations and have you feeling extremely disappointed. I’ve been wanting to go to Insideout since forever. This place wasn’t decorated like the pics online. That would have been totally fine if the food was decent and the vibe was good. The menu really doesn’t have a good variety or good options. I was really disappointed in my salad. The salad looked dirty and sad. There was just nothing exciting about it. My husband said his cheeseburger was just okay. But I was upset with the 5 sweet potato fries he got on the side. I get portion control is an important factor in our country, but we are dining out and overpaying for the food. The worst part was the vibe. It was so boring in there!! I’m giving five stars for service but only because of our waiter. He was polite and attentive. The host stand came off as stuck up.

This place is so beautiful, So many different seating areas with a different view and vibe, they have a beautiful waterfall by the bar area that makes the space aesthetically pleasing. The food was good I got to try from my friends plates as I couldn’t order because they close the kitchen by 3pm, one unpleasant experience was not being told and the waitress still taking my order only to not bring it and not let me know until I asked. otherwise the overall experience would’ve been distasteful if I wasn’t around my group if friends who already had food.
Thando M — Google review
Fun atmosphere which changes seasonally. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Good music at an appropriate level to allow for conversations. For was good and I liked the cheesecake, sweet potato, and homemade chips. Arrive early and enjoy the ambiance in the outdoor garden.

Beautiful hidden gem in Hillcrest, and by hidden gym, I mean they have a whole garden inside. It’s beautiful. It’s very tranquil. The staff is very friendly and prompt, which is amazing. I ordered salmon and garlic bread. By far the best salmon ever I wish I had a bigger stomach to fit the whole thing. Also had something off their nonalcoholic menu, which was amazing. Definitely coming back and if your local San Diego again, definitely worth checking out

🌿 insideOUT – A Whimsical San Diego Hideaway 🌿 Walking into insideOUT feels like stepping straight into a living fairytale — twinkling lights, giant butterflies, and lush greenery in every direction. The atmosphere is pure magic, and what makes it even more special is that they change their entire theme seasonally, so every visit feels like discovering a brand-new world. We started with the charcuterie board, beautifully presented with a rainbow of cheeses, fruits, nuts, and cured meats — every bite was perfectly balanced and fresh. The seared sea bass was absolute perfection: buttery, flaky, and resting on a silky sauce that brought everything together beautifully. The service was warm and attentive, and the outdoor garden seating made the whole evening feel enchanted. ✨ Whether you’re on a romantic date, celebrating with friends, or just treating yourself, insideOUT is an experience — not just a meal. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I dislike giving 5-stars across the board because it feels disingenuous, but IO full out earns it! Atmosphere was phenomenal! Even though we couldn't sit in Wonderland because it was raining, we were still able to walk around in the courtyard and take photos. And it was so beautiful and magical. Mezcal prawns were delish as a starter. Swordfish: superb. Braised Short Rib: fall apart fork tender! If you're on the fence, make the reservation! It's completely worth it for the atmosphere alone. The food and drinks being amazing is a bonus get.

Flame Bar & Grill is a Mediterranean restaurant located in San Diego, known for its amazing food and lively atmosphere. The portions are generous and the dishes are delicious, ensuring a satisfying meal. The restaurant offers entertainment with singers performing almost every weekend, creating a fun and vibrant dining experience. The owner warmly welcomes guests, providing great service with attentive waitstaff. The appetizers are delicious and the main course of various meats on a wood tray is fabulous.
I was invited here with a couple local friends who live in San Diego. The owner welcomed us warmly as I think they know my buddies very well. We had a good table not close to the stage which good so we do not get deaf by the loud music 😜. The services was great as the waitresses keep checking on us. The appetizers were delicious and the main course of different meats on a wood tray was looking and tasted fabulous. They had at least 2 singers there plus the belle dancer who made the environment nice. I know some ppl had bad experience from the reviews I read, but mine was outstanding and great.

I recently visited this Mediterranean restaurant and I was blown away by the amazing food and atmosphere. The portions were generous and everything tasted absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a satisfying meal that won't leave you feeling hungry, this is definitely the place to go. What really sets this restaurant apart is the entertainment they provide. They have a singer perform almost every weekend, which adds a fun and lively atmosphere to the dining experience. It's a great place to come with friends and family for a night out. Another highlight of this restaurant is their $40 buffet that's available Thursday to Sunday during Ramadan. While the selection of dishes was good, I did feel that the price was a little on the high side considering the limited selections they have in the buffet. However, the quality of the food more than made up for it. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly and accommodating. They were happy to explain the different dishes on the menu and offer recommendations based on our preferences. Overall, I highly recommend this Mediterranean restaurant for anyone looking for a great meal and a fun night out. Whether you're a fan of Middle Eastern cuisine or just looking for something new, this place is definitely worth a visit.

I had a ok experience at Flame Bar & Grill! Hookah was ok food was ok but customer service and allowing some people to sit anywhere and others are limited was kind of sketchy. Won’t be coming here again

Honestly I have been to many middle eastern places like Alibaba, Malalsham, etc but I never had a bad experience like this one. They took more than hour to bring food, ones the food did came finally, it was cold and the onions were burnt. They can use better customer service and food quality.

This place took 45 minutes to bring me a drink when it was only me and my family dining at the restaurant with no food ordered. And my food took a hour to take which was a KIDS MEAL never going back here again be cause they left me waiting, I wish I could slap them

Wow, this place is so good! This was our first visit and we loved it! My husband got the Coco Loco which was stunning and he highly recommends it. I got the chicken shawarma wrap and it was perfect. It was exactly what I wanted. We also got the churro bites with vanilla ice cream (no pic because we annihilated it immediately) which we really enjoyed. Service is great, our waitress was attentive and the manager came to check in with us. Will definitely come back!

Club San Diego is a discreet and welcoming gay bathhouse in the heart of San Diego. It's open to men of all identities over 18, offering shared bunk rooms, communal TV areas, XXX theaters, a sauna, jacuzzi, and steam room. Located at Mission Blvd. and Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach, it's praised for its professional staff and well-maintained facilities.
Super clean, awesome demographic and lively music! The staff is the kindest crew and most professional I’ve come across within all the bathhouses I’ve been to!!!!

I've been here about 3-5 times now, as I went yesterday. Can be a hit or miss crowd. the amenities are like a spa, where i can come relax, de-stress in the jacuzzi and steam room after a long hard day. I got naughty and wild when I went to, lol , with some scenic views here and there. since i'm a local native from so cal myself and in my early 30s as of now. this place was the first place I experienced this type of venue. there's room for improvement tho. generally speaking, i've enjoyed coming here.
Alexander M — Google review
So much better before 2019. When you tell any of the staff ANYTHING, they gossip with each other and tell the patriots what you said about them. It's not a bathhouse. It's an old man who thinks because someone did him wrong, he can try to ruin the community. He went as far as to take hr complaints and tell the others what's was said . High school girl behavior all the way. Went in yesterday, same people, same attitude. I saw a guy say hi to a younger person and they created this whole drama of harassment.
Kaiser S — Google review
The most expensive bathhouse I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to many around the world. $40-$50 for just a locker. The amenities are mediocre at best and do not justify the price. The average age is 65+. Which makes sense given the price.

Chee-Chee Club is a historic dive bar located in San Diego Downtown, known for its old-school vibes and chilled bartenders. It offers a mix of everything, making it a fun and cheap-and-cheerful spot. The bar features pool tables, good music, and a selection of microbrews on tap along with top and bottom shelf liquor options.
If you’re looking for a dive bar, this is the place! Just far enough off the main strip that the bar doesn’t get crowded. Cheap drinks and they’re always planned some old 80s or 90s movie. The bar felt welcoming and grungy at the same time I would definitely go again.

The Caliph is a laid-back cocktail lounge that has been welcoming patrons since 1960. It was renowned for its happy hour and live music or karaoke most nights, creating a vibrant and friendly atmosphere. The iconic piano bar, located near the western edge of Balboa Park, was popular for its showtune singalongs and had a faithful older clientele.
This is a hidden gem of San Diego. Service is always supreme and the bar is never so packed that you feel like sardines. Outside patio area is extremely spacious. And they have karaoke and live music in most nights! A really fun hidden treasure!

This place.... definitely your down the street laid back bar kind of atmosphere. The service is friendly and direct. If you are looking for fancy/custom/homemade cocktails - this is not your place. No such things as top shelf either - selection is fairly limited. Come prepared to enjoy your basic beers and standard liquors. All that said - the charm and no fuss attitude makes it endearing and keeps they maintain a loyal group of regulars.

Awesome little bar withing walking distance. The decor is definitely fun and fit for a Caliph! The "lounge" singer Donal (sp?) Is just the best! He is amusing and talented. He plays the 🎹 live and even took a song request I yelled at him. The patrons were fun and friendly as well. I will def go back!

You know those karaoke bars you go to where everyone is an awesome human and sings along all together? Yeah, The Caliph is the best. It's one of those bars where you go to get wasted (or show up wasted) and make 10 new best friends. I've been looking for something similar to the Crescent in San Diego since I moved down here found it!' Come prepared though- they are cash only and have a 2 drink minimum. The bartender will tap you on the shoulder to remind you if you haven't ordered anything.

Club Fusion, situated in North County, is an 18-and-up club with a vibrant atmosphere. The venue features a multilayered dance floor with dazzling laser lights, an outdoor lounge area, and elevated cages for go-go dancing. Formerly known as Extasis and Caguamamas, it offers a mix of entertainment including karaoke with strippers and a friendly ambiance. The club hosts events like Club Papi and is known for its fantastic shows.
I remember this place as Extasis and Caguamamas. Two separate clubs. Anyways, they were ok. But it was the place to go if you were not old enough in the US. In the beginning it was mostly a Gringo club with some Mexican people like the karaoke or drag show. The drinks were all Mexican and no imported or foreign alcohol. At the time it was only Mexican brands. No Skyy no Smirnoff no Jack Daniel's nothing. No American or Euro brands. The dark room was free. But later I heard they blocked it off and started charging to go in there. The Twitter shows it has been closed as of Feb 2023. Why? They wouldn't say why. They just leave vague "Bless your heart" type messages, basically an F U dont ask in a ni. But the writing on the wall. There are more bars in Centro and Fusion remained alone. The area around Fusion became deserted. You had migrants back in the day camped out in front of the PedWest entrance to the US where the club lay, then the US closed the Ped West entrance indefinitely. Then in the end, profits dropped. The club bleeds dry. Things changed over the years. It's not the same anymore. The crowds from the US stopped coming long ago. It was no longer profiting the owners.

Came to Torrey Pines with friends for an easy, scenic hike — and it was absolutely worth it. The trails are well-maintained and manageable, making it a great spot for all fitness levels. The ocean views along the cliffs are stunning, and the overall scenery is incredibly picturesque. Whether you’re looking to get some fresh air, take in coastal views, or snap a few great photos, Torrey Pines delivers. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and want a peaceful outdoor experience without a strenuous trek. Pro tip: For an easier hike, find parking at the top of the hill.

This hike was amazing! 🌊 The entry fee was $20, and we drove all the way up to the top parking lot to start the West Overlook Trail (about 3 miles). The beginning was mostly downhill with incredible ocean views and cool lookout spots. The way back is uphill, so it’s definitely a workout—but worth it. I highly recommend wearing good shoes and bringing plenty of water, especially if you’re hiking midday.

Breathtakingly beautiful and serene! The mountains on one side and the ocean on the other side makes it even more scenic. So many beautiful trails leading to the peaks where you can watch the sunset or sunrise in the most spectacular views. I loved going here and will come back again and again! Hands down 5 star!
Bushra N — Google review
Came here on a Friday afternoon late September. $20 day use fee. Did my hikes from the parking lot across the road from the visitor center. Good amount of parking. I could see it being an issue on really busy days. Porta potties there with hand washing stations. Pretty clean porta potties that didnt smell too bad. Decently warm day but there was a breeze most of the time making it pleasant most of the time. Hiked to Red Butte, Razor Point, Yuma Overlook, and the beach. Took a bit more than an hour including meditation and picture time. Downhill mostly to beach then back uphill to parking lot. Mostly gentle. Nothing too crazy. I am a middle aged guy that sits at a computer working everyday for most of the day and have some mild asthma and still did just fine. Amazing stuff. Although there were plenty of people there, there were still quiet times to enjoy the ambiance and sounds and meditate. Scenery is unreal, and the trails are well marked. Pictures I attach do speak a thousand words and display the incredible scenery. Got my beloved souvenir patch and postcards at the VC, which has no bathrooms or water for water bottle. Highly recommended. I posted lots of pics because this place deserves it.

Torrey pines has many trails to hike and even run! Some trails have a lot of sage and smell great. We really enjoyed the beach -- it was not super crowded (during weekdays). The only problem is the traffic out, especially during rush hours. The State Park entrance and parking is $15 and there is plenty of space. There is also free parking before the entrance but it is almost always fully packed. If you arrive early, you might be lucky.

Private events on the beach require a permit for non-standard equipment, ensuring that the natural beauty of the area is preserved. Whether you're enjoying a relaxing day in the sun or exploring the rich history of the hotel, Coronado Beach has something to offer every visitor.
Beautiful, Clean, and Lively Beach! We visited Coronado Beach on a Saturday and had a great time. It gets pretty busy around noon, and parking on Ocean Blvd was tough we had to drive around for 10–15 minutes before finally finding parking on nearby streets like Pine St, Marina Ave, G Ave, or F Ave. From there, it’s just a short walk to the beach. The beach is clean and well-maintained with restrooms and showers available there are a couple of outdoor showers and two indoor ones inside the restrooms. There are 6 beach volleyball nets set up and available for public use, which adds a fun and active vibe to the area. We also saw lots of surfers and even a few people with private jet skis. You can even rent a firepit for a few hours, which is a great way to relax later in the day. Lifeguards are on duty, so safety is covered. Overall, it’s a lively and scenic beach perfect for a day of fun, just make sure to come early if you want easy parking!

Beautiful beach that stretches pretty long. Visited in September and found it to be a beautiful spot to enjoy a sunny day. Wasn't overly crowded at all, and although I understand there are issues with Tijuana discharging waste towards the U.S., the water seemed clean. Watch the seagulls. They try getting in to people bags on the beach. They seem to have gotten pretty good at it

One of my favorite beaches in San Diego. Used to be one of America’s best beaches. This is a great place for a run, see the naval airplanes, land, and takeoff, bring your dog to the dog beach, have a bonfire, or walk around the car at a hotel del Coronado. Just be wary of the hazard of the water coming from Tijuana There is a QR code that you can track. Other than that, this is the beach that has a lot of sand that you can relax on or play volleyball

Altitude Sky Lounge is a swanky outdoor club located atop the Gaslamp Marriott, offering stunning 360-degree views of San Diego. It stands 22 stories high, making it the tallest open-air rooftop bar in the area. Visitors can enjoy clear views of the city and even watch baseball games at Petco Park from this vantage point. As the sun sets, Altitude transforms into a vibrant nightlife spot with colorful lighting, modern fire pits, and music from a resident DJ.
Phenomenal roof top bar. Highly recommended. It’s an open air bar on the 22nd floor. If you are just going for drinks, the 6th and K parking garage is the cheapest parking and close too. Only $10 to park. Must cheaper than the Marriott. A good dinner recommendation is Sevillas Spanish (Spain) which is a block away.

This place is awesome to grab a cold beer and listen to that sweet sound of a bat crack for a home run. The view is stellar, plenty of places to look out over the edge and see the harbor, Coronado Island and Petco Park.

Beautiful view of downtown San Diego. Gorgeous fire pit as well. Probably my favorite rooftop top. Great service, fun and safe atmosphere. What I love is that even though it's an outdoor rooftop, no smoking and no vaping is allowed. You can also see Petco Park and there's 2 different views on both sides. DJ plays good music too depending on the night!:)

Stunning rooftop bar. No cover charge! The bouncers at the entrance were friendly and explained the layout of the space which was really nice. We arrived around 9pm on a Saturday but the party music/crowd didn’t start until about 10:15pm. Lots of places to sit and stand with a counter around the rooftop edge to admire the views of the city. Drinks were pretty good but don’t expect anything super strong. Very clear view of the Padres stadium, convention center, and other well-known downtown buildings. Even saw some fireworks from the Rady Shell performance! Highly recommend stopping by for a drink and a beautiful view of the city from above.
Melia — Google review
Good view. Good cocktail. Nice fire pit. The drinks selection was smaller and differed from what was online, but overall a good place to grab a quick drink before dinner. The metal balustrade could be modernised to make it feel a little more luxury and a little less police custody toilet… but don’t let that distract or discourage you from grabbing a beer and taking in the evening skyline.
Matt J — Google review
Great views and atmosphere. The drinks were flowing, and there was plenty of seating room (if you could get it quickly enough). Thankfully, we were able to get seats before the rest filled.

This is the rooftop at the Marriot in downtown SD and I really enjoy it here. It was a view of Petco Park , looks a bit far but still. And the view of the harbor is always breathtaking, you can see everything! Going at night is even nicer ! They offer drinks and basic appetizers and burgers too. They also have a small fire you can feel warm next to at nights. Plan to look for parking as downtown can be a bit tough. This place is a go to for me

Cocktail bar
Nestled in a mall, Raised by Wolves is a hidden gem that exudes an air of mystery and luxury with its old-world decor and oak-clad walls. Recently awarded Cocktail Bar of the Year, this speakeasy boasts a nostalgic interior featuring frescoes, polished cabinets, and marble-tiled floors. The centerpiece is a rotating bar where skilled bartenders craft unique cocktails like the Twilight Samurai.
I had an out of town visitor, so we went to Raised by Wolves on a Tuesday evening for the experience and to sip on their cocktails. We did not have any food! The vibe, the cocktails, and the service were outstanding! My visitor was highly impressed! You feel like you are in a different world, with a great vibe, once you enter through their "secret door!" Definitely worth checking out and vibing there! They are packed on weekends. Reservations are recommended!

I’ve heard so much about this place and I’ve seen so many videos of this speakeasy. I finally got a chance to check it out. We had a reservation for 5:30pm. We arrived early so we got to take some pictures, videos, etc. The liquor store has impressive collections of spirits. I love the revolving door set up. The inside was grand, dark and mysterious. I got a drink that was 80% ice and 20% alcohol mixture. It definitely wasn’t worth $20 for a drink. I guess you’re paying for the ambience and experience. I would say check it out at least once to see it yourself.

Cool speakeasy in the utc mall. Beautifully decorated and they make good drinks. Only had a couple, but they had a large selection. Plus I presume they make any cocktail you'd like. Worth visiting if you are in the area. You have to make reservations online, but it's easy and can be done same day of not the busy bar hours. We made our reservation on Sunday at 4 one hour before we arrived.

Perhaps the coolest bar I have been to ! Very unique venue and amazing selection of drinks ! Intimate atmosphere, and old money feeling. Our drinks were superb and enjoyed ending our night here !

Really good drink selection and very tasty. The atmosphere is really nice and the decorations are very unique. Also the speakeasy entrance was very cool. Definitely recommend getting reservations early.

Went with a friend and my hubby. It was the first time our friend had been to a speakeasy and he was really excited to be there. It did not disappoint at all. The secret entrance is always fun and he loved it. Once we were all inside we were promptly seated and while at first it was a bit awkward sitting two people on a couch and one in a stool we figured it out and made room so we could all sit together. All of our drinks were good and we never felt rushed. Between the three of us we got The Tiki Room, Cosmic Dancer, Rain Check, When Things Go South, and Time of the Season. It was busy but that's no surprise we could all still hear each other. Overall a great night with great drinks and cool ambiance.

They are very welcoming! Very cool place- ambience is on point 👉. Loved my drink as it tasted like a strawberry Quik! Had to wait a bit for my drink but overall cool place for some yummy, high-end drinks 🍸

We absolutely adored this place. The staff were friendly. The cocktails were delicious. The atmosphere was one of a kind. Tip: The liquor store opens at 11a but the speakeasy opens at 3pm. You need to put your name on their list either in person or by reservation to be let in. Each guest group is allowed 1 hr in the speakeasy.
