Seafood restaurant
Bar
Ironside Fish & Oyster is a seafood restaurant located in a renovated warehouse with a quirky nautical design. The place offers an impressive raw bar with platters of various sizes, including the extravagant "Holy Sh*t" assortment featuring oysters, shrimp, mussels, lobster, caviar, and more. Chef Jason McLeod, known for his Michelin-starred background, oversees the seafood menu which includes Kusshi oysters and a delectable lobster roll.
I love sitting at the bar, the chefs are very social and kind. I’ve had great conversations with them. Best fish and chips I’ve ever had. The chowder fries are a must have, you can’t go there and not order them. All staff members have a smile and genuinely enjoy their job. Best restaurant I’ve ever been to. 10000/10 recommend

Lots to like about this spot, with many interesting details in the decor, natural skylights, bay doors that open up to the outside dining…almost like being inside the dining room of an old steamer. Their oyster offerings are great, with some serious horse radish which is a must, and they have a selection of spirits that is just crazy in a good way. Enjoyed the blue cheese olives w my martini which I think is the best pairing w oysters on the half shell. The dishes we had were all fresh and thoughtfully presented and nice temps. I wish my pesce had been medium rare as requested and not medium well, but the flavors were still nicely paired on my plate. I’d also suggest that the broccolini is seasoned perfectly and doesn’t need the added sauce swirled across the top, but that’s just me…less can be more w great ingredients. Solid service and glad they were recommended to us.

I don’t give out 5 stars lightly, so please take this as the highest compliment I can offer. We have been here many times in the past because the food has always been top tier quality, however the hospitality seemed to be hit or miss.. until tonight. From the time I made the reservation to the time we left, every detail was so thoughtful. I made a reservation for my fiancé‘s birthday and was contacted one day later to confirm there were no allergies in our party and to see how they could make the night more special for us. (Love that) When we arrived, we were shown to our table immediately- and shortly after ordering oysters we noticed the menus were custom printed with my fiancé‘s name on them. (Photos included) our waitress Geena was genuinely so happy to help us. She was attentive and kind and so wonderful to work with. When we finished dinner, dessert was brought to our table including an espresso martini with my love’s name PRINTED on it. I was blown away! From start to finish this was an incredible experience. It was refreshing to see the hospitality match the quality of the food. Wether you are celebrating something or simply a seafood fanatic, do yourself a favor and make the reservation. You won’t regret it!

I loved everything about our evening at Ironside Fish & Oyster. It's San Diego, what else can you say? Regardless, the ambiance strikes a perfect balance between lively and relaxed (harmonious murmurs as white noise, warm lighting from half-exposed sun rays, and an easygoing coastal vibes) and once the sun started to set, they opened the doors so the cool bay breeze could flow through. Sitting there with that breeze on your face felt like an added bonus to the meal. We shared the "Bigger" platter and it was outstandingly fresh: every aspect of the platter was aesthetic and delicious. They bring you the names of the oysters that are at the bottom, the shrimp are cut in a way that is easy to peel (peeling shrimp for other means you love them!), and dishes on the top layer really takes your tastebuds on a ride. They also provide tortilla chips and colorful puffs as complements to the top layer of the platter (rockfish ceviche, tuna tartare, shrimp aguachile). We also added on the Swordfish Birria tacos just in case, but they really stood out. It was meaty, well-seasoned, and unexpectedly addictive. Each bite played a beautiful note, and the whole dish made for a fun experience. Service was excellent from start to finish: attentive without hovering, knowledgeable about the menu, and great to recommend pairings. They timed everything really well, knowing when to bring out the dishes at their respective time periods, which made the culinary experience even better. A few tips: parking can be a bit of a task in the area, especially at peak times. If you arrive early, you'll have a much easier time finding a spot, and it's worth leaving a little extra time to walk and explore the neighborhood afterward, especially the bay, with ice cream in hand.

Really good. Lots of attention to fine details, good service, fine locally sources seafood. We shared everything and it was plenty. The Mussels Verde were spectacular, and we sipped the pozole Verde as another course with our bread. The chewy hominey in the rich broth was amazing. The salad (buttery rich burrata and crisp sweet pears) and Crudo were good and not overwhelmingly huge. Just enough. The bread was the child of milk bread and the best dinner rolls you've ever had.

Ironside welcomes you with a friendly sailor clothed staff and a dope aquatic decor. Of I were to just go for the vibe it would still be a 5 star review. I ordered the chowder fries and fried fish. I don't think I have been this excited about fries since I was a child. The chowder fries were phenomenal and the fried fish was prepared perfectly. My partner got the lobster roll. Oh my lord was that the best damn hot lobster roll I've ever tried. 10 outa 10! I highly recommend iron side and will be visiting this place anytime I'm in town.

If you like a place with a cool vibe, nice staff and good food, you can’t miss checking this spot out. In the heart of Little Italy, in between pasta and pizza shops, this is a delicious spot for delicious and unique seafood. From the usual options of clam chowder, lobster rolls and fish and chips, you can’t go wrong if you like seafood and oysters. A great pick for a fun night out in Little Italy!

We went for our 1 year anniversary and it was incredible! Our server was so kind and super helpful. She recommended the Japanese sweet potato dish and it was so good, I’ll probably think about it for the rest of my life haha. I would suggest asking for a menu of the descriptions of the oysters, because that seems to be missing from the main menu you get. We got a dozen of the same oyster and I wish we had gotten a spread of them all to try instead!

Seafood market
Restaurant
Point Loma Seafoods, a family-owned establishment by the Christianson family, began as a small seafood purveyor in 1963. Over the years, it has expanded to become a popular casual spot offering favorites like fried fish and crabcakes. The present building was constructed in 2010 on the original footprint, providing indoor seating and an upper patio with stunning views of San Diego cityscape and the bay.
Nice view. Love the raw clams, crab cocktail, clam chowder, fish tacos. Don't order raw oysters. I find them dry and tasteless. I'd better off getting raw oysters from Wholefoods.

Folks have been coming here for the past 20+ years and always look forward to getting the fish and chips. Unfortunately, the prices have sky rocketed while the portions have shrunk. The cod was still very tasty, lightly breaded and the clam chowder was still delicious. There is plenty of seating inside and outside and the guys at the counter were helpful and friendly. Overall, still very good quality but the portion size and big increase in price may have the folks trying out a new seafood place in the future.
Lias H — Google review
Excellently selection of seafood. Especially several types of smoked fish. I had the cod plate. Slightly overcooked but tasty. They use a cornmeal type crust which i prefer over beer battered. If you prefer beer battered this is not your place. Enjoy.

This is a pretty good spot to get some seafood and enjoy the beautiful view of the marina. We grabbed a table upstairs and had an amazing view at sunset. The food is pretty good. There are lots of fried options. I wish they had some more that were not fried. But I tried the Caesar salad with Ahi and the shrimp cocktail. Both were delicious. They also had affordable wine options that you could drink there or take to go.

Second time here but it’s been 7 yrs since our first visit. Wife was craving for some fish/chips and clam chowder. Ordered the following: Combo Plate (2 pcs cod, 2 pcs shrimp and 1 crab cake) plus fries and coleslaw - I know the plate comes with tartar and cocktail sauce but it doesn’t mean you don’t need to season the butter/breading anymore. Don’t expect too much crab meat on the crab cake. Coleslaw doesn’t have taste at all. Where’s the seasoning Chef? I saw a lot of seasonings for sale though that should had been use in the kitchen. 3/5 Clam chowder - $7.42 (bowl) that lacks seasoning and mostly potatoes. We also prefer chowder on the thicker side so won’t order if we ever decides to comeback. 3/5 Plenty of parking spots during our 1030AM early lunch. Customer service was great. View was amazing but disappointed with food quality.

Point Loma in San Diego is an absolute gem and one of the most picturesque spots in the city. Whether you're a local or visiting for the first time, the marina offers a peaceful yet vibrant atmosphere, especially as the sun sets and the harbor lights come alive. The scene is stunning with rows of docked boats, twinkling lights reflecting on the calm water, and charming little electric boats glowing in neon—perfect for a romantic evening or a relaxing night out with friends. The area is clean, safe, and easy to navigate, with plenty of boat rental options and nearby restaurants to grab a bite or a drink. There's something magical about the blend of city lights in the distance and the serene waterfront setting that makes Point Loma feel like a hidden coastal escape right in the heart of San Diego. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind, take beautiful photos, or enjoy the best of San Diego’s coastal charm.

I've been coming here for 36 years, on and off all my life whenever I've visited from Las Vegas to come see family. This trip we came for the big haul: - 4 fried cod sando's - Mixed seafood plate with fries - onion rings - clam chowder - smoked salmon I really wanted to get the Ahi Caesar salad but not enough time 🤣🤣🤣 I love this place, from the epic service and awesome staff, to the beautiful spread and iconic views. This is home for me: the tastes, smells, sights, sounds, and feel. I will be coming here long into my old age, one bite at a time. Keep up the historically wonderful job that you do for the world, the flavors the will carry many generations to come. Cheers 🥂
Jon Y — Google review
Very disappointed in the quality of food we were served during our most recent visit. Arrived about an hour before closing & ordered 2 ‘Fish Plate’ (Cod) dinners & soft drinks. French fries were soggy & ‘somewhat’ warm. Breading on the fish was very ‘tough.’ We were greeted by friendly & attentive staff. Dining room was spotless, condiments in good supply & items were clean and in good order. Restrooms on outside of the building are in poor condition, though this may not be the responsibility of the restaurant. After spending $45. for two dinners prepared so poorly, decided we’re not returning. Today, meals are too expensive and there are better dining options nearby.

Seafood market
El Pescador Fish Market has been a staple in La Jolla since 1974, offering a variety of just-caught seafood options to-go or prepared on-site. The market is housed in a modern building with communal tables for dining in. Their menu focuses on fresh seafood, which can be selected from the case and prepared to your liking - grilled, fried, in a sandwich or burrito, or as part of a salad. Notable dishes include the sea bass sandwich and shrimp tacos.
Yum. Everything looked so good and fresh here. We tried a fish burrito and some ceviche. Got it to go and heading to the beach. It was so good and traveled well. We would probably frequent this place for our fresh fish if we lived nearby. Totally worth the stop
Jeff D — Google review
This place is the best. My favorite item is the swordfish, always a treat. So so fresh, and it's amazing in a sandwich. (tip: always say yes to Avo) Don't sleep on their clam chowder either, it's the best I've ever had outside of the east coast. And the salads are on point too, can't go wrong really with the protein choice. Fish, shrimp, octopus, scallops all are super delicious. This has been a go-to spot in my family for about 20 years and I just can't get enough!
Daniel K — Google review
Such a fresh, vibrant spot! You can see the quality right in the seafood display. The salmon dishes were perfectly cooked , my kiddo loved theirs. My octopus was just a touch chewy, but the flavors were bright and real. It’s counter service, casual, and not pet-friendly, but fair prices and great freshness. Loved the vibe!

Amazing restaurant! Fun atmosphere. Entire staff friendly and helpful. Amazing selection of fresh seafood cooked to order. Sashimi and Pike too! Recommendation- Ask about the "Burro(Burrito) Of The Day". The day we went the Burro special with Sea Bass PLUS SHRIMP, For UNDER $20!!! So good!

Have eaten here so many times but this is my first review. This place literally never fails. Let’s start with the oysters….only got 4 as a little app for myself but I seriously could have eaten 2 dozen. Currently regretting my decision as I devoured my 4 in about 60 seconds. And their mignonette is next level. If you like oysters, do yourself a favor and get these. I got the west coast ones but I’m sure the east coast ones are also FIRE. Moving on to my main dish, got the blackened/cajun salmon plate and this also was next level. Even the freaking side of veggies was amazing. It’s probably not the cheapest seafood in town but it is easily the best. Worth every penny.

My favorite fish taco place in San Diego. The staff is always super nice. I love the outdoor seating when weather is nice. The food is always delicious and fresh. I miss going there so try to go multiple times when I am in San Diego. Delicious😍

I had the catch of the day swordfish regular sandwich with avocado and my partner had the mahi mahi regular sandwich with avocado. Fireeee sandwiches. I loved my swordfish especially. Top 10 sandwiches I had in my life. Would definitely come here for a nice lil Sammy if you like food that's delicious. If you don't like food that delicious idk what to tell you, maybe share some broken shells with the seagulls.

The BEST local Seabass and clam chowder in San Diego. Tried it blackened with Cajun spices with salad and brown rice. Fresh, healthy, amazing! Paired perfectly with their homemade watermelon lemonade. Lulu was very nice and helpful as well. Ten stars!

Seafood market
The Fish Market in San Diego is a bayfront spot offering grilled fish and seafood plates with outdoor seating and a retail market. It's known for its super-fresh seafood, including poke and sashimi, as well as a classic oyster bar. Families can enjoy the character and feel of the restaurant, especially when dining on the patio overlooking the water.
Right off the water, The Fish Market delivers on every front—stunning views, attentive service, and most importantly, excellent food. The wait wasn’t long, but honestly, even if it had been, it would’ve been worth it. I was impressed before the food even arrived—yes, by a glass of water. I know, you’re thinking, “Water?” But not all water is created equal, and theirs was crisp, cold, and surprisingly refreshing. It set the tone for what was to come. For my main, I started with the jambalaya. While it wasn’t seasoned exactly to my taste, the staff was more than accommodating and handled the situation with ease. I gave it another go with the crab cakes—and that’s when I hit the jackpot. They were perfectly cooked, fresh, and packed with flavor. I was in town for a conference, and my colleagues were just as impressed with their meals. The portions were satisfying without being overwhelming, fresh and high-quality. If you’re in the area, definitely add The Fish Market to your must-visit list. Between the view, the service, and the seafood, it’s an experience you won’t regret.

The Fish Market has two sections and the Top Level certainly lives up to its name! The menus and the ambiance is definitely more upscale. The ambiance is wonderful, we were seated next to an open window hanging over the ocean as the sun went down. To one side was a close up view of the historic USS Midway! The service was excellent and the seafood superb! I had Carrot Ginger soup and a Crabcake, both were delicious! As a complete dining experience, the Fish Market cannot be equaled!!

Amazing location for a delicious meal! Oysters were delicious and the price was fair. Scallops were amazing! Would have loved a few more. Veggies (green beans and roasted potatoes) were delicious too. Sourdough bread was decent, but not amazing. I’m from the northeast and I think we’re spoiled with delicious breads. Worth a stop, plenty of seating outside which is what it’s all about!

An altogether perfect experience! A great view, great food, great service. Our food came out within 10 minutes of ordering and so did our desert. All food items were delicious and left us feeling refreshed and satisfied. I highly recommend this place!

Had dinner at Fish Market recently. The food was okay, but I felt the service could really be improved - the server seemed a bit rude, which made the experience less enjoyable. Also, my tacos had a slightly spoiled tomato taste that was disappointing. Hoping they can work on service and food freshness because the place has good potential.

We are visiting from Florida and we did few of the restaurants in town. For our last lunch we went to Fish market it was one of our best experience in San Diego. First of all the upstairs desk named Susan received us with a large smile a handle the waiting personne very efficiently.( say hello from us ) At the table service was fast and friendly . The food was the best my wife had the sea bass I had the Cioppino both were excellent ! You add to this the astonishing view….. Perfect lunch. Thanks A&K

I came here for my solo birthday trip in San Diego, and unfortunately my experience at The Fish Market was very disappointing. I usually don’t mind where I’m seated when dining alone, but since it was my birthday and I was traveling, I asked the host if I could sit outside with a view. I arrived just before noon when the restaurant was not busy, but was told I’d have to wait at least 35 minutes. After joining the waitlist, I noticed that 5–6 parties of two who arrived after me were seated right away. When I asked the host why, I was told that “tables for solo diners are more limited” and that single diners get smaller tables. About 20 minutes later, my table was finally ready—but I was placed in the farthest, most tucked-away corner, completely away from the nice view. Because of this unpleasant start, I didn’t feel like ordering much and just got the cioppino. The portion was large and there was a good variety of seafood, but the crab meat on top was very fishy and not fresh at all. Later that afternoon I had a crab roll at Lobster West Coronado and it was night and day—the crab there was sweet and fresh with no off taste. On top of that, my server was indifferent and cold, barely interacting with me, while I saw servers at larger tables being very attentive and friendly. It was clear that if you come with a group, they’ll happily give you a scenic spot and good service since you’re paying more. Overall, if you’re with friends or family and don’t mind overpriced food for the sake of the waterfront view, this place might be worth a try. But if you’re dining solo, especially for a special occasion, I would not recommend it at all. The food is mediocre, service is dismissive, and they make it very clear that they don’t care about your experience.

Stopped by The Fish Market in San Diego hoping to grab a quick snack, and while the bar area was awesome with some great hazy IPA options, the food menu left a bit to be desired for a casual stop. Given it’s a fish-focused restaurant, it’s understandable that seafood dominates the menu — but it would’ve been nice to see at least a few more vegetarian options or simple bar snacks. No fries, no wings, and not much for someone looking for a quick bite outside of seafood. The only food we could eat is the garlic bread and we ordered 3 or 4 portions of it 😂 On the plus side, the service was friendly and efficient, and the location itself is lively and well-kept. A decent spot overall, especially if you're into seafood and craft beer — just not the best for light, varied snacking. Good atmosphere inside . Lots of seating inside and outside . It was an average experience . 3 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️

Nestled charmingly along the marina, Mitch's Seafood is a delightful seafood haven that showcases the best of locally caught fish. Established in 2008 by three families with deep roots in fishing around Point Loma, this eatery prides itself on serving fresh seafood sourced primarily from the bountiful waters off San Diego and Northern Baja. With a focus on simple yet flavorful California-style dishes, guests can enjoy an array of options paired perfectly with local craft beers and wines.
Had a great lunch here while in SD. Might be our new go to place as the food was excellent and service relatively quick despite being busy. Seating is limited both inside and outside but worth the wait if necessary. Reasonable prices, great selections and a variety of beverages as well.

When we arrived there was no parking. We had to park down the street. There was a line outside of the restaurant. You wait in line to order, and then you can sit down. I liked that you couldn’t sit without a number. We ordered the crab cakes and that was probably our favorite item from dinner. My husband ordered the sea bass sandwich. The fish was sparse for such a big sandwich we made just one sandwich with it. There wasn’t really anything amazing about the flavor and the fish was rather dry. I ordered the cheeseburger and there wasn’t no flavor. Luckily I added bacon because that added some flavor.

Food was okay but most was kind of greasy. Service was fast as can be expected considering how crowded it was. They have a decent selection of food and drinks. Seating is very limited. Overall, I don't think it's worth returning to eat there unless w can find a time that isn't as busy. Mostly due the restaurant size not being able to handle the crowds. That issue alone makes it overrated. They seem to be a victim of their own success. There's both and table seating as well as inside and outside bar style seating. The location is okay if you're into looking at a marina. Parking was atrocious.

My mom amd I decided to come try Mitch's. The Spiney Lobster was very good. Mom had the Fried Combo. She was not really liking the Crab Cake (we are from the East Coast and she is a snob about Blue Crab Lump Crab Cakes). We were told that the fish was cooked with a Panko Crust not Beer Batter. However, she LOVED the shrimp!! And apparently, so do the seagulls! Hahaha! We were seated outside facing the Harbor and 2 swooped down and 1 grabbed the shrimp right out of mom's hand! She smacked it! But he got away with the goods! LOL! One of the guys that worked there saw what happened and brought over the stickers along with a replacement shrimp (which was super nice of them). We will be back!! The staff was awesome, kind and attentive! I recommend!

One of the only places I’ll go to for seafood! Everything is fresh, and it’s all reasonably priced. This is the place to go if you just want good seafood and a serene view without the frills of an overpriced dine-in experience. If you sit on the deck, be prepared to defend your plate. Seagulls are ruthless but the view is so relaxing and I promise your food won’t last long on your plate anyway. I love the grilled shrimp skewers and I never leave without one kind of fish taco and a golden fried fillet. Fry basket shrimp are yuge. Also Matt who works there is rad!

Casual spot with good quality and nice views. - Crab cakes 5/5 - these really stood out and were perfectly cooked - Fish tacos (grilled and fried) 4/5 - these were great but don’t necessarily stand out in San Diego. - Calamari 3/5 - lacked seasoning and didn’t care for the dipping sauce but was of good quality - Grilled rockfish 3/5 - cooked nicely and was high quality but also lacked seasoning and the herb verde was lackluster. Coleslaw was nice however.

Omg outstanding location soak up the fresh seabreeze excellent ambiance and hands down super tasty delicious food. And reasonable price. Make sure to try there superb flavorful chowder and grilled lobsters with corn Loved it and absolutely recommend it. Clean and Friendly kind staff

For that evening I loved everything about it! Food, service, and atmosphere. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 is because the seating could be a little more comfortable.... and there should be heatlamps since seating is extremely limited except on the patio overlooking the marina.

Rockin' Baja Lobster in Gaslamp is a lively seafood-centric Mexican restaurant with a festive atmosphere and an outdoor patio. Inspired by the lobster village of Puerto Nuevo in Baja California, the decor reflects traditional Puerto Nuevo style. The menu offers delicious and affordable Mexican seafood dishes, including sizzling garlic shrimp and unique bites like Mexican Street Corn and Chili Lime Fries. Located in Old Town, the restaurant exudes an amazing vibe both inside and out.
First time at the new location of Rockin’ Baja. Better location, great setup, food was good but the staff and service was awesome. We saddled up at the bar and had some good banter with the bartender working there. Super close to the convention center - located in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter.

This was our first time coming the Gaslamp location and was a little under impressed compared to their other locations. The food was amazing just like the other locations, but the atmosphere and service was not par. Also disappointed that they didn’t have a salsa bar. Overall it was a great experience and would still eat here again.

We visited Rockin’ Baja Lobster during Comic-Con weekend, so we expected it to be busy but unfortunately, the service was disappointing overall. Shoutout to Diana, who was a great server! She was attentive, helped us correct an issue with our order, and really tried to make our experience better. We appreciated her effort. However, another server (the blonde one) who previously took our order, was not as friendly. She gave my friend a bad look when he politely followed up on his food, and when I asked her for a sauce, she said “yeah” but never came back with it. On top of that, my friend never received the extra chips he ordered, even after asking about them. The service felt very slow and disorganized. We understand it was a busy weekend, but it seemed like we were forgotten for long stretches of time. While others got priority. That said, the food was really good. Great flavors, fresh ingredients, and generous portions it definitely lived up to the hype in that department. If the service matched the quality of the food, this would have been a five-star experience.

I got the Shellfish Taco Platter (one of each - shrimp, blue crab, and lobster) and a Cadillac Margarita. Really enjoyed each taco but the lobster was my favorite! I also shared photos of menu items I wanted to try like the Cali Surf & Turf Burrito and just check out the biiiiiig burrito and the 6XXL tacos!!!! Great food, service, and got to watch the Dodgers vs Padres. No complaints! Would definitely visit again next time I am in the area. Our waiter on June 16, Scotty, was so kind and patient as well 🤗

The quality and value of food have dropped significantly since last time I visited before covid. That on top of a 5% surcharge on each bill is just a slap on the face

Flavor was on point, Atmosphere was exciting and wait staff was friendly and efficient. Crab legs were very hard to peel..dry and overcooked.
Mary S — Google review
The wife and I love this restaurant chain, but this is their newest location, and the servers are subpar, and the food is not on par with their other locations. Luke the bartender, who helped us, was actually stellar; the rest were in some sort of daze, leaving 30 minutes between main courses for my guests. In other words, the main course would come for one person, then 30 minutes later for the next person. The place wasn’t empty, but there were only a few of us in there. The steak was like a shoe, the chicken was dry, in the $80 bucket they messed up the corn; it was supposed to be Mexican style, not just grilled. The lobster was super fishy, but maybe it was an off day for them? The other locations are incredible; this one just needs some attention from management to get it on par with the others. Kudos to Luke though, he’s great.

We ordered the Baja bucket which came with two lobster tails crab shrimp chicken carne asada and corn on the cob. It also came with tortillas and rice and beans. LOTS OF FOOD!! It was all amazing however The crab was lacking some serious meat and maybe overcooked. (Maybe it's not crab season?) This meal also comes with fried ice cream. We ordered a beer and a spicy skinny margarita both were delicious. The service was on top of their game lots of TVs for sports and a full wet bar with numerous beers on tap. They also have a full margarita menu. I would definitely come back and give it a try again. Total for two including tip was $150.00

The Fishery is a renowned seafood restaurant located in Pacific Beach, San Diego. It offers an extensive selection of market-fresh sushi, entrees, and seafood sourced locally. The midcentury brick-and-mortar warehouse houses a seafood market and an open kitchen where Chef Mike Reidy prepares seasonal dishes for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. In addition to its seafood offerings, the restaurant also serves excellent beef options like ribeye, filet mignon, and New York strip.
Great drinks/food/service/atmosphere and very baby/dog friendly. We had the Spring Salad, Calamari and Scallop Crudo and they were all delicious. Reservations are highly recommended. Can’t wait to be back here again.

Late night dinner but glad we came! The staff was amazing including our waiter. Comfortable inviting environment that wasn’t too crowded! I usually don’t list things but it feels appropriate here! The clam chowder, and rockfish main course were both memorable dishes. I can’t think of a better chowder or whole fish I’ve had anywhere in my life . The portions were fantastic as well! The fish also came With crispy potatoes that I could literally eat everyday. It really doesn’t get much better than this. The sashimi, calamari and desert were good! But it notably lacked compared to the fish and soup but It’s hard to compare to a culinary triumph such as those. Overall a great dinner. I would definitely come back and try more times. I would come back just for those potatoes.

If you’re searching for a fresh seafood place in Pacific Beach, the Fishery is the perfect spot. Highly recommend ordering the Milk Punch cocktail with tequila - may be the best alcoholic drink I’ve had. So easy to drink and very enjoyable. For appetizer, you can’t go wrong with the muscles made with a basic curry sauce which has a great balance of flavors. The macadamia crusted halibut served with smashed potatoes and the lemon butter sauce is an absolute must. The handroll was also delicious and flavorful with every bite. We finished with the chocolate torte dessert and their house made amaretto - incredible!! Give the Fishery a shot, you will not be disappointed,
Lanie — Google review
The Fishery delivered an excellent experience overall. Food and ambience were top notch. The swordchop was outstanding and definitely a generous portion for 2 people. Our server was friendly, though a bit slow to check in on us throughout the meal. Seemed to give more attention to other tables.
Dylan G — Google review
Wonderful service and super fresh seafood! We loved the striped prawn and the salmon collar — both were outstanding. The cocktail was refreshing and perfectly balanced. Can’t wait to come back!
Tina D — Google review
The Fishery absolutely nailed every dish we ordered. The Pacific Bluefin steak was flawless - seared to a perfect medium rare with a crisp, flavorful crust and a soft, buttery center that practically melted on the fork. It’s rich but balanced, and you can tell the fish is top quality. The aguachile was just as impressive — bright, clean, and beautifully layered. The mix of pico de gallo, cilantro, radish, and lime gave it a perfect kick of acidity and freshness. It’s the kind of dish that feels both refreshing and deeply satisfying. And the New England clam chowder (off-menu special) was comfort in a bowl — creamy but not heavy, with tender clams and perfectly cooked potatoes. Every plate showed real care and respect for the ingredients. Easily one of the best seafood spots in San Diego. The Fishery’s cocktail program is easily one of the best in San Diego. The Fishery Milk Punch is silky, bright, and perfectly balanced — blanco tequila, yogurt, and clarified milk come together in this smooth, almost weightless texture. The lemongrass note lingers softly, adding a clean citrus finish that keeps it refreshing rather than heavy. Her Name Was Lola is tropical but refined — blanco tequila with coconut, cucumber, and lime. It’s light, crisp, and just sweet enough. The cucumber and lime keep it refreshing while the coconut rounds it out with a soft creaminess. It is a perfect match with aquachile. The lime and cucumber echo the dish’s acidity and crunch, while the coconut smooths out the spice. The City of Music is a mix of gin, spruce tip, aquavit, and spirulina unlike anything else I’ve had. It’s earthy yet bright, with a clean finish that feels both coastal and foresty at once. It pairs nicely with the Pacific Bluefin Steak - the drink’s herbal, slightly resinous notes complement the seared crust and rich, buttery tuna interior.

What a lovely new discovery! We enjoyed a bottle(or two) of wine, stuffed squash blossom appetizer, sea bass, smash “fish” burger, and the fish pasta. All divine! Ended the meal with the pana cotta and affogato dessert!

Lobster West is a casual dining spot that specializes in seafood sandwiches and also offers beer and wine. It's a must-visit for those who love the delicious taste of lobster, especially their iconic lobster rolls which have gained popularity beyond Encinitas. The restaurant is known for its unwavering commitment to quality. The elegant decor and friendly staff create a luxurious dining experience. While the prices may be a bit high, the fresh lobster and quality ingredients make it worth it.
Delicious food! And easy to park and eat. Only lower part may be the beans but the reason I went was for the rolls and they were incredible and so was the clam chowder

Lobster West served up fresh seafood with great flavor. We tried the lobster, crab, and shrimp roll sampler—each was fresh, and the rolls were perfectly toasted and buttered. A solid spot for well-executed seafood rolls, worth a visit for quality shellfish.

I stopped by here on my way to sd. It tasted amazing but wish they gave you more. There wasn’t much difference between boss and epic lobster roll. Might come back if I was peckish and en route to sd/la.

It was something new, and me and my boyfriend enjoyed it. The bread was amAzing. It was soft but toasted just right and was somehow firm enough to hold the lobster and crab. Lemon was a nice add-on. It all felt really light but fulfilling. I'd just say it was quite pricey, even with the cheapest option for the rolls. The atmosphere was surprisingly calm and quiet. We thought it'd be a little more upbeat, but it felt like a place to study at. All in all, it felt like it was missing something--maybe some more upbeat or louder music--but it was a nice new experience. Would like to try again.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Lobster West, and I was absolutely blown away by the experience. The lobster rolls here are simply phenomenal—fresh, delicious, and packed with generous chunks of lobster. Each bite was a delightful blend of perfectly seasoned lobster meat and a buttery, toasted roll that made for an unforgettable meal. The quality and freshness of the lobster were evident in every bite. It's clear that Lobster West takes great care in sourcing and preparing their ingredients to ensure the highest quality. The lobster rolls are not only delicious but also offer great value, given the generous portion sizes. The ambiance is casual and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a quick bite or a relaxed meal. The staff were friendly, efficient, and genuinely passionate about their food, which added to the overall positive experience. Whether you're a local or just visiting, Lobster West is a must-visit for any seafood lover. I can't recommend it highly enough and will definitely be returning soon! Gluten free rolls available, if not, you can order without the roll.

Absolutely amazing. Best lobster place, around. The plates are small but very filling. This is my grandma's favorite place, as well. I highly recommend to anyone, who loves lobster. Also, get the sauce. It's worth it.

If there is a lobster roll I normally order it so I feel like I have a lot to compare it too and this is one of the best I have ever had. Lots of lobster, buttery toasted soft bread and just get taste. I usually get mine Connecticut style which is served warm and buttery vs Maine which is chilled with mayo. They have other options too like the crab and shrimp roll and combos if you want to taste everything.

This location seats on a medium business plaza and busy street. The parking is not bad if you are willing to park in further part of the lot. Very limited inside seats. There are some outdoor seats. The service was not that great at the time we were there. It was slow to order but the food came out in a reasonable manner. This is not a handicap friendly since there is no space for wheelchair access.

Nestled within the historic Hotel del Coronado, Serea Coastal Cuisine embodies the essence of upscale beach dining with its stunning ocean views and chic atmosphere. Under the guidance of Executive Chef JoJo Ruiz, a pioneer in sustainable seafood practices, Serea offers a menu that artfully combines Mediterranean influences with locally sourced ingredients.
Serea at Hotel Del Coronado is hands down my favorite spot in San Diego! Everything about this restaurant is exceptional, starting with the breathtaking view of the ocean. The ambiance is both cozy and stylish, making it perfect for any occasion—whether you’re celebrating something special or planning a romantic evening. The staff here are incredibly friendly and attentive, which adds to the overall amazing experience. And the food? Absolutely top-notch! They serve the best smoked salmon in all of San Diego—it’s a must-try. I usually go for the lamb care, which are always perfectly cooked, but today I tried the pork chop, and it was just as delicious. The filet mignon is another standout; I highly recommend it to anyone dining here. The cocktails are also spectacular, expertly crafted and a perfect complement to the meal. We come here often because it’s simply the best restaurant for unforgettable moments. I can’t recommend Serea enough!

Our favorite was the mushroom risotto. Our kids ordered from the kids menu but stole our risotto. They all agreed that they will order that the next time we come! Beautiful vibe with indoor/outdoor seating. And our server, Amy, gave us great recommendations. I loved that they had some natural wines on their menu.

I came to Serẽa Coastal Cuisine for my birthday dinner, and it was an amazing experience! The seaside atmosphere is so relaxing and chill—perfect for a special night out. Our server was incredibly kind, patient, and attentive. He gave us great recommendations on what to try, and we decided to go all-in with the signature dishes. Honestly, not a single dish disappointed us—everything was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully prepared. The only small downside was that the timing between courses was a little slow, but the food and overall experience more than made up for it. For a birthday celebration, it felt special and memorable. Highly recommend Serẽa for anyone looking for delicious seafood, great service, and a gorgeous seaside setting! 🌊🐟✨

Serea is my go-to brunch spot in Coronado, and I find myself returning time after time. The food is always fresh and full of flavor, the cocktails are spot-on, and the service is warm and welcoming. Paired with unbeatable views of the Pacific, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely brunch. For the best brunch experience in Coronado, Serea truly never disappoints!

Had high hopes for this spot but was severely disappointed. We ordered the octopus thinking it would be a decent portion of octopus for $30. It was 4 bite sized pieces and with potatoes adding most volume. Not worth the price what so ever. Whole grilled fish was sold at market price. It was the best part of the dinner but again overpriced!!! Patatas bravas: super deep fried and filled with so much aioli of some sort that you couldn't even taste the actual potato. Drinks were solid. SARAGLI dessert was awful. After being recommended by our waitress that it was super delicious we took the recommendation. We also asked for a candle to be lit to celebrate a birthday and our waitress said it couldn't be done. Didn't even make the slightest attempt to redeem us with anything else. It came to the table super hard and had no flavor at all. Ice cream ball size felt like was feeling little dolls. The ambiance is nice. That's about it. I don't mind paying good money for food but it needs to wow me. This was not the case!
Marilia F — Google review
We chose Serea to celebrate our anniversary after reading glowing reviews, especially about the seafood. As someone who truly appreciates a well executed seafood dish, I came in with high hopes.. but unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. Of the 6 dishes we tried (octopus, sea bass, beet salad, seasonal vegetables, frites, and hummus—not including the crème brûlée for dessert) none stood out as exceptional. Order the octopus, it’s very tender and the best thing we had that evening. The sea bass, which I had most anticipated, was surprisingly bland. The beet salad had such an overpowering flavor profile that it was difficult to enjoy. The vegetables were entirely unmemorable. The hummus was good, and the frites were decent, but neither left a lasting impression. We also ordered a bottle of Terlato Pino Grigio, again, disappointing. Serea should select a better PG to offer guests. One highlight of the evening was the terrace seating, which offered a beautiful view overlooking the lawn and the ocean. It really added a special touch to the atmosphere and made for a lovely setting. For a meal that totaled nearly $500 with tip, the quality of the food simply didn’t justify the cost. Based on our experience, I wouldn’t recommend Serea to friends if food is the main focus of their visit. That said, our server, Sean, was outstanding. He was warm, professional, and attentive without ever making us feel rushed or pressured. Truly A+ service, and one of the high points of the evening.

Serra Coastal Cuisine was such a disappointment. After our first drink, the bartender completely ignored us for the rest of the night and even started cleaning up before closing out our tab. The service left a bad taste and ruined what should have been a nice evening. 2/10

Nice spot, good food. Worst service ever! The waiter forgot one of the plates and then the plate arrived almost half hour after the other meals… finally we asked to split the total into 4 cards and somehow the waiter decided to charge the amount of 3 parts to me, even when all my friends and I signed for individual payments. We noticed something weird and asked to the waiter and he “explained” and then made the opposite 😒. Bad experience :/.

The chicken cutlet sandwich is recommended for first-timers due to its generous portion size. The casual, family-friendly atmosphere with outdoor seating exudes an East Coast beach vibe. Visitors praise the authentic New England flavors found here.
My fiancé and I spent a week in San Diego celebrating our anniversary, and on our very first day, we stopped at a lobster roll spot in Coronado—unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. Before heading home, we were determined to find a proper lobster roll experience, and that’s when we found Pete’s Seafood and Sandwiches. We are so glad we did! Pete’s was everything we were hoping for and more. From the cold to the hot lobster roll, every bite was perfect—fresh, flavorful, and generously filled. The sparkling sangria was refreshing and delicious, and even the coleslaw (something we usually overlook) was a standout. Everything on the plate was a hit! To top it all off, the service was incredible. Pete himself was kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming—it’s clear he takes pride in his food and his guests’ experience. This place is a hidden gem and will absolutely be our go-to spot every time we’re in San Diego. Thank you, Pete, for turning our lobster roll luck around!

Foods good. Lobster rolls are big but seem lacking at the same time. Fish and shrimp is lighty breaded and taste great. Tarter sauce heavy on the mayo but still good. The cocktail sauce wasn't the vest and tasted like rubber

Pete’s Seafood and Sandwich in North Park brings true East Coast flavor straight to San Diego. They ship in fresh seafood from Maine multiple times a week, so everything—from the lobster rolls to the clam chowder—tastes just as good as it would seaside. Their lobster roll is easily one of the best in town: buttery, loaded with claw meat, and simple in the best way. The shrimp po’ boy is huge and packed with flavor, and even the mozzarella sticks and chili-tossed calamari hit the spot. If you’re not into seafood, the Boston Italian sandwich with cherry pepper relish is a solid pick. If you love lobster rolls and East Coast food, you need to check out this place!

Wowwwwww!!!! A must try! We have been eyeing this spot and finally came for dinner last night and it did not disappoint. The portions were super generous and the breading on the shrimp and chicken was SOOO delicious. Everything was excellent quality and the sauces like : bbq, tartar, and cocktail sauce were all phenomenal. We sat out on the patio and had everything we needed. The staff members were kind and knowledgeable, and delivered us our food when it was ready. Really cute spot, order at the counter and take your number and find a table! We can't wait to come back!!

Herb & Sea is a sophisticated dining spot in Encinitas, offering a coastal counterpart to Herb & Wood in Little Italy. The restaurant serves innovative seafood dishes and desserts in an elegant space adorned with chandeliers. The menu features East Coast culinary traditions, including raw oysters, crudo, smoked fish, and ceviche. A highlight is the rotating by-catch menu item that supports WildCoast's conservation efforts.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Herb & Sea is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting, stylish, and coastal-chic. The service was top-notch—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Now, the food—WOW! Every dish was beautifully plated and bursting with flavor. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and the wood-fired preparations added the perfect touch of smokiness. The scallop aguachile was bright, refreshing, and perfectly balanced, while the barramundi and yellowtailwas cooked to perfection. We also couldn't get enough of the house-made pasta and seasonal vegetables. Another huge plus—it’s also a fantastic spot for families! The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive to our kids, making sure they were comfortable and happy throughout the meal. It’s rare to find a restaurant that balances sophistication with a family-friendly atmosphere, but Herb & Sea nails it. Cocktails were another highlight—creative, well-balanced, and refreshing. The wine list had fantastic pairings, making the experience even better. Herb & Sea is the perfect spot for a romantic date night, a celebration, or just a memorable meal with friends and family. Brian Malarkey has truly created something special here. We’ll be back again and again!

The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable, Nick (I believe that was our servers name, he’s originally from the east coast) explained every detail of every dish and he recommended the Mussel Toast appetizer which was amazing! We had the peri peri chicken, the seared sea bass & the corn & potatoes sides. 10/10! Added to our favorites for our next visit to the San Diego area.

My husband and I went to Herb and Sea last Saturday night. We didn't know what to expect but all the reviews we read were excellent. We've been disappointed before with highly rated restaurants, including those with Micheline stars and bibs. This restaurant beats them all. First, our server spent time walking us through the entire menu including the drinks and wines. At that point, we wanted to order everything on the menu! We ended up starting with the Trout Dip. I cannot even describe how delicious this dip was. I honestly wanted to lick the bowl clean. My husband ordered the Tuscan Ragu which was not only a large portion, but incredibly flavorful. One of the best pasta dishes he's eaten. I orderd the crudo trio which consisted of hamachi, salmon, and trout. This dish is an appetizer, but was a perfect size for me. Very well seasoned and so fresh. We also ordered the blistered peas and, OMG sooo amazingly good. The dish could have been a meal. We ended with a shared butterscotch budino and I cannot describe the creamy deliciousness of this dessert. The drinks were very good and had the appropriate amount of alcohol. Some restaurants water down their specialty drinks with lots of ice - not true at Herb and Sea. We keep thinking about our dinner there and wanting to go back very soon. The staff and chef are amazing. It's a busy place, but they manage to put high quality food out. This restaurant deserves a look from the Micheline experts.

What a find!!! We absolutely loved everything! Very cool LA vibe which was a tad loud but we were still able to converse at the table. Service was friendly and helpful. There is also a nice outdoor space for private parties for intimate or larger gatherings (up to 100-ish). Started with a Pale Ale from the Pure Project, two delicious and beautifully presented cocktails (Amaretto sour & It’s About Time) and mocktail (Luke, I did it again). The 4 of us shared a chorizo pizza and roasted carrots and off-the-menu Parker House Rolls followed by the seared sea bass, shrimp linguine and blistered peas. Be sure to save room for the Budino and especially the chocolate mousse pie! Can’t wait to go back - we’d get everything again!

Herb & Sea was the perfect spot to celebrate our anniversary. The ambiance was romantic and inviting, and the service made us feel truly taken care of. We started with the fresh catch caviar, pickles and pita, and the Caesar - each one packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The babaganoush in the pickles and pita dish was delicious and surprisingly stole the show among the starters. For mains, we shared the whole golden spotted bass and the shrimp linguini - both were absolutely outstanding. Everything about the evening was memorable - can’t wait to come back!

Incredible dinner at Herb & Sea! Love the decor, everything looks beautiful with purpose. The staff is excellent, friendly and accommodating, and orders come out quick. We had some tasty cocktails, the H&S old fashioned, tropic thunder, and Sonoran sunset. Our appetizers were amazing, bluefin tuna tartare, mussel toast, and ceviche. The entrees kept the momentum, we had grilled bluefin tuna and shrimp linguini with sides of baby carrots and fire roasted corn. Great location to walk around and go to the beach. Definitely recommend!

This place is absolutely insane. I’m surprised they don’t have 5 stars!! The service is incredible, the food is out of this world & the vibes are high. I’ve been to some really good restaurants in San Diego/North County - this is in top 5!

Japanese restaurant
Himitsu is a refined Japanese restaurant offering an authentic and intimate dining experience with fresh sushi sets, bento boxes for lunch, and a diverse dinner menu. The chef, Mitsu Aihara, who trained at Sushi Ota, presents traditional sushi rolls, nigiri, and special plates using the highest quality ingredients. The 29-seat space exudes exclusivity and offers prime views of the chefs' skills at the sushi counter.
Visiting from Boston and this was a wonderful spot for dinner! I highly recommend taking them up on the chefs special of the night. All of the recommendations were incredible and so unique. The monkfish blew my mind. It’s definitely upscale sushi, so you’ll spend a bit but so worth it!

My second time here and both times were amazing! I went here this past Sunday for their new Sunday special dinner; which is limited seating at the bar with a unique tasting menu prepared and served by Himitsu himself. So many favorites, I wish I remembered all the names of everything we tried but take my word for it! If you are a sushi lover and haven't tried this place, you must at it to your list! Depending on the night parking can be difficult, there's a small parking lot, so just account for that. Supringly there was plenty of parking on Sunday when we went! They are going to continue a monthly Sunday special service if you we were looking for a special and unique sushi date night!

Himitsu : “C,” with a final score of 60%, meaning “Mediocre. Not coming back, but not yet angry.” Executive summary: good vibes, but mediocre food and poor value makes me question how Himitsu made it to the “Michelin recommended” status, and in my books, “not recommended.” ------------------------------- Before the restaurant review, I created a new rating system. Of course there is always subjectivity in reviews, but taking inspiration from Car & Driver head-to-head car reviews, I’m hoping a more systematic way of analyzing different restaurants can help lessen subjectivity. The final grade will be determined by a weighted score of 3 factors - food (70%), vibe & decor (20%), service (10%). The scores will be added, then multiplied by a “value” factor that can improve or reduce the score by up to 20%. See photo for elaboration. Himitsu, I first tried about two years ago, and had a fairly good experience. So on my wife’s birthday, who’s actually out of town, I decided to celebrate it anyway, but without her. I got a 5:45pm reservation, and excitedly told my daughter “let’s go to good Japanese!” Note to self: never set high expectations! The restaurant has very limited inside seating. About ⅓ is inside, ⅓ in a “covered tent” and another ⅓ on the “patio” (err…sidewalk?) beside the parking lot. Despite sitting on the patio, the weather Gods cooperated and it felt quite comfortable. A cheerful waitress greeted us, and shared the “tonight’s specials.” Nothing popped out, and I was quite happy about the standard menu, most dishes served in small plates, allowing us to go for variety. We ended up starting with 6, and I figured we’d continue to order as we ate, depending on how we felt. Ribeye katsu sando (B ) : This was the meal highlight. Beef was tender, juicy, and nicely seasoned. The breading wasn’t as crispy as desired, but understandable since it was in between two slices of soft white bread. The ginger dressing was a little too tangy, overpowering the beef, but the weakest link was the cold au jus. Dipping the sandwich meant it became cold and soggy. So I only dipped once because I’m a fast learner. “Today’s special” soft shell crab roll (C ) : The weakest dish of the night. I originally ordered the “regular” soft shell crab roll from the menu, but the waitress mentioned they had “fresh crab” off the special menu, and I simply said “sure.” In hindsight, I should have asked about the price but I never would have expected it to be double! The worst part, it didn’t taste anything special. The lettuce conflicted with the crab that didn’t taste particularly fresh, and it really didn’t taste much better than something from a Japanese supermarket. Salmon hand roll (B ) : I didn’t try this, but my daughter says it deserved a “B”. Anago (eel) nigiri (B ) : This was quite nice, very light seasoning, reminiscent of how they’re served in Japan. The good, I could taste the sweetness of the eel. The bad, the eel wasn’t fatty enough, so given the quality of the eel, the North American style with a little more char and more sauce would have improved the dish. Salmon belly nigiri (C+ ) : It was a generous slice of salmon belly, but not enough marbling and rather tasteless. Ebi (shrimp) nigiri (C ) : The shrimp was overcooked and rather tasteless. My original intent was to keep ordering, but even my daughter, especially after eating the soft shell crab roll, said “nah, the quality is not there.” I asked about desserts but they sounded all French based, like creme brulee, and ultimately, nothing appealing. So we stopped, and asked for the bill. At $122 for the quality and amount of food served, especially $39 for the soft shell crab roll, plus the auto 20% gratuity, the value certainly wasn’t there. Finally score: “C” at 60% or “Mediocre. Not coming back, but not yet angry.” Food: C+ (65%) Vibe: B (70%) Service: B (70%) Weighted total: 45.5 (Food) + 14 (Vibe) + 7 (Service) = 66.5 Value factor: “Not worth it” so reduced score by 10% for a final score of 60% (rounded).

Great experience. We had a party of 3 and had reservations for sushi bar. Do the sushi bar. The chef is so engaging and offering of menu suggestions. Crazy fun and crazy good. Sushi chef Mickey was awesome. It is a bit pricy but man the sushi is sooo fresh. Aiden our server was spot on and attentive without any sense of overbearing. Great food. Great night.

Fantastic sushi with some inventive dishes and great service. Himitsu gets it right, serving up delicious cuts of classic nigiri as well as some local delicacies that you won’t find anywhere else. I think Wasabi Caesar Salad is probably the best invention of the 21st century. Make a reservation! We didn’t have a reservation on a Saturday night but they were able to seat us within 20 min.

I rarely write negative reviews, and even more rarely come across a sushi restaurant that leaves me this unimpressed—but unfortunately, Himitsu in La Jolla did just that. From the moment we arrived, the tone was off. After seating us, the host came back to our table to mention, “You know we have the table for you for an hour and a half?” Being greeted with a time limit immediately felt unwelcoming and rushed. Also, how would we know that? Our server then insisted on taking our entire order, promising to pace the meal. What actually happened was the exact opposite—our main dishes came out first, followed immediately by everything else. There was no rhythm or flow to the meal, just a flurry of plates all at once. It completely took away from what should have been a thoughtful, bite-by-bite dining experience. We were in and out in an hour or less, which is unusual for an upscale restaurant. The portion sizes were shockingly small, especially considering the very high prices. The food was okay- I liked the miso cod and the katsu sandwich, but the sushi was lackluster. And for a restaurant positioning itself as upscale, the service was not only lackluster but felt almost dismissive. We were seated at the farthest leg of the outdoor patio, isolated from the restaurant itself. No ambiance, no connection to the sushi bar, and honestly, it felt more like we were dining at one of the neighboring restaurants. To top it all off, we were celebrating a birthday—and when the dessert came out, a candle was lit and dropped on the table with zero fanfare. No acknowledgment, no warmth, just...there you go. And let’s talk about the auto-added 20% gratuity—regardless of party size. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Himitsu.

Bad experience. We’ve been here multiple times over the years and we chose to visit here for our anniversary for the memories and the experience was bad. First we made a reservation for 8pm and had to wait till 815 to get seated when we showed up 5 minutes earlier. Then the food. Fish was good but the steak sando was very disappointing. You can see the portion got way smaller and the steak got smaller and thinner over the years. One piece barely have any filling. Last, the service. They have a mandatory 20% service charge, which I don’t mind but the service did not live to that. We had to wait for another 15 minutes to get our check.

World Famous is a casual and popular surf-and-turf eatery located on the Pacific Beach boardwalk, offering an inventive mix of seafood, pub grub, and refreshing drinks. With simple wood-paneled interiors and an oceanfront patio boasting spectacular beach views, it's a great spot to relax over multiple drinks and tacos while enjoying entertaining people-watching.
Our visit to World Famous was nothing short of amazing. We kicked things off with their clam chowder, creamy, flavorful, and easily one of the best we’ve had. For our main course, the Sierra Mar grilled Pacific sea bass absolutely stole the show, perfectly cooked and bursting with fresh, coastal flavor. The crunchy jumbo shrimp lived up to their name, super crispy on the outside, tender and sweet on the inside. We couldn’t resist adding a lobster taco and a fish taco, and both were so dam good. Seriously, don’t leave without trying them! Even the kids’ fish and chips impressed us. It’s better than many of the adult versions we’ve tried at other local spots. Service was warm and welcoming when we were seated, though there was a small hiccup with the water refills and post meal check ins. Still, the incredible food more than made up for it. Overall, a fantastic dining experience. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend!

Our new favorite spot. We would highly recommend checking it out. Bee was our server and she was absolutely phenomenal. Our meal was timed and coursed perfectly, she took excellent care of us. The food was so flavorful and everything was delicious. The entire table was impressed with how good the lobster bisque was. The salad dressing was SO good!!! 10/10, we loved the food, the atmosphere, the service, and the view. Can't wait to come back!

A Mixed Bag on the Boardwalk My boyfriend and I were looking for a classic San Diego beach brunch and decided to try World Famous. We arrived around 10 am on a Sunday and were told the wait would be about 40 minutes. Luckily, we got a text that our table was ready in only 20 minutes, which was a pleasant surprise. We were seated outside in a shady spot, which was perfect since it was already getting hot. The one major drawback was the strict menu schedule. I have an egg allergy, so I was hoping to order from the lunch menu, but we were told the kitchen wouldn't start those orders for another 45 minutes. It would be great if they could be more flexible with allergies. When I was finally able to order, I got the fish and chips without the chips due to a potato allergy and chose a side salad instead. The fish was a bit heavy on the batter, but it was flavorful. The side salad was pretty standard, nothing special. A suggestion for the menu would be to offer sweet potato fries as an alternative for people with nightshade allergies. My boyfriend had a much better experience. He ordered the World Famous Wipeout and said the bacon was perfect and the pancakes were delicious. Our server was very sweet and attentive throughout our meal. The Drunken Mermaid cocktail was also a hit! We would consider going back, but next time we’ll aim to arrive closer to lunch service to avoid the wait for the kitchen to open the lunch menu. Overall, a nice spot with good service, but the menu constraints were a significant issue for my allergies.

Went as two couples for a weekend lunch. We started with the mimosa option and their Award winning World Famous lobster bisque with sherry. Do not skip this. It’s absolutely amazing! Everyone ordered a different menu item and they were all prepared to perfection! Very reasonably priced too! We chose a window seat in the outdoor covered patio area to enjoy people watching, in addition to our fabulous meal.

Their location is fantastic. We ordered the Benedict but seems not like traditional one to me. Wonderful service with kind manner. They offer outside sitters both with indoors if u reckon the sun is too much. Fun fact: by looking at the restaurant nearby, they seem are one of the few restaurants opened before real noon. And it is a not bad choice.

We took our large family for dinner and it was wonderful view of the Pacific Ocean. We ordered many drinks, appetizers, and dinner items. All the food came out piping hot. Calamari was large pieces and tasty. The crab cakes were also well seasoned and very tasty. I ordered the Harpoon dish and the salmon was well seasoned but a bit overcooked. The shrimp in the dish had a strong cholrine flavor which overpowered the rest of the flavor of the shrimp. The scallops were small but tasty. The asparagus could have used another 30 seconds to cook. The experience was great and memorable.

We are regulars for a reason! The manager, Roxanne, is incredible! My parents have mobility issues and she ensures that we have a table that can accommodate them EVERY time we visit. The staff, especially Luz, are so helpful and friendly. The food is terrific but the people who work there make this a step above the rest! It’s why we always come back! The tacos are INCREDIBLE! You cannot go wrong with any menu option. You have a view of the ocean and boardwalk! People watchers will love this place!

I had the seafood taco sampler and the jumbo shrimp. My server Madi was good. Quick, attentive and friendly. The tacos were the best I've had. These are a meal within itself. The jumbo shrimp with the ginger slaw was so flavorful. Plus I got the stuffed mushrooms to go. Very good. Right on the beach, great atmosphere inside or out on the patio.

Had an amazing experience at Island Prime! The Tomahawk was perfectly cooked — tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The loaded mashed potatoes were absolutely delicious and the perfect side to complement the meal. The staff went above and beyond to make our anniversary extra special with a sweet little celebration that made the night even more memorable. The view was absolutely stunning, with the perfect backdrop for a romantic evening. Our servers were kind, attentive, and prompt throughout the entire night. We started at the bar, try the old fashioned made with wagyu ribeye fat bourbon - sounds strange but it's almost like having a steak with your whiskey! Incredible views from the bar. Our table was a private booth towards the back which I didn't mind but if coming for the views you may require being next to the windows. The food and service I thought were outstanding. Try the prime trio 3oz cuts with Blue cheese/crab/mushrooms, it was cooked perfectly and not rushed out. They waited until we were done with our appetizer, and the crusted brie with honey garlic did not disappoint. I'd probably skip the scampi next time. The jumbo shrimp were good but the sauce was a bit bland compared to the other courses I tried here. Go steak! 2 of us could have easily shared the trio. We couldn't eat it all and ordered 2 much. The bill with drinks was about $150 per person.

My experience at Sea Level on Harbor Island today was absolutely outstanding! Our server, Nick, provided excellent service—attentive, friendly, and professional. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious drinks and the most beautiful atmosphere. Dining here offers an incredible view of the ships in the Bay. We can't wait to go back!

Celebrating 23 years of marriage tonight, we chose Island Prime; a great decision! The food was absolutely amazing, the views were breathtaking, and the service overall was very good. Our waiter was friendly, professional, and attentive, which made the evening enjoyable. We enjoyed the filet mignon and scallops! However, the experience started on a slightly off note — the hostesses didn’t greet us, so we ended up greeting them first. A warm welcome would set the tone for the exceptional experience that follows. Additionally, while our waiter was excellent, we did feel a bit rushed to place our dinner order, which took away from the otherwise relaxed ambiance we enjoying our drinks to. All in all, Island Prime delivers on its reputation for fantastic food and views. With just a bit more attention at the host stand and a touch more breathing room when ordering, it could be a flawless experience. Oh, watch out for the phantom 5% extra fee they add to the bill. We do recommend the Island Prime experience!

Let me start off by saying that SETH and company were absolutely amazing tonight! Seth was very attentive and explained the menu VERY well and very knowledgeable of everything in house! The food came out in a very timely manner! We will most definitely be visiting this location again

I’ve eaten at countless restaurants over my 31 years, but nothing and I mean nothing compares to the calamari here. It was hands-down the best calamari I’ve ever had in my life: perfectly crisp, tender, and seasoned to absolute perfection. If I could give it 100stars, I would! The coconut shrimp was also out of this world lightly breaded, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. And the fish and chips (with hush puppies!) were equally fantastic. Every dish was clearly made with care, love, and skill. If you’re looking for a place that knows how to do seafood right, this is it. I’ll be dreaming about that calamari until my next visit! Shout out to Chef Deborah!!!

Japanese restaurant
Sushi Ota is a Japanese restaurant located in a modest strip mall in Pacific Beach, San Diego. Despite its unassuming exterior, it is widely regarded as one of the best sushi spots in the area. The chef-owned establishment offers premium sushi and omakase tastings, showcasing fresh and locally sourced fish with uni being a standout ingredient.
Sushi Ota is clearly one of the most popular sushi spots in town, and for good reason. The restaurant has a refined, intimate atmosphere. Reservation is highly recommended as they get very busy and usually has a wait line. All the sushi chefs are Japanese, which adds a level of authenticity and tradition that’s reflected in both the preparation and presentation of the food. Service here is top notch! Friendly, attentive, and professional. The presentation of each dish is elegant, and the quality of the fish is great. With that said, I found the prices to be significantly higher than other sushi restaurants, in some cases nearly double. While the food is definitely high quality, I personally felt that the overall value didn’t quite justify the cost. I’m not here to bash the place. I’m just giving my honest perspective. I know what great sushi tastes like, and while Sushi Ota delivers in many areas, the price to quality ratio left me a bit underwhelmed. Still, it was an amazing experience, and I’d recommend it to anyone who’s looking to enjoy authentic sushi in a more upscale setting. Just be prepared for the premium pricing.

I can hardly conjure words befitting of such a perfect establishment. Hands-down, the most meticulously crafted sushi my husband and I have had in the States. We are foodies, and love to seek the best-o-the-best and happily found ourselves here, sitting at the sushi bar, being served by the INCREDIBLE Head Chef, Yoko! We were there celebrating our 11th marriage anniversary and are truly grateful for such an awe-inspiring experience! Every single dish was absolute perfection. Seemingly simple but you know there is an immense amount of care that goes into each piece you savor. Even our hostess was perfect in every way. The attention to detail, the care, the kindness, and hospitality exuded with genuine pride, by all the staff. We seriously can't wait to come back. I love this place. It's a wonderful gift to those who come. Please do!

I was really excited about this place. My dear fiancée and I chose Sushi Ota as our last date night before our wedding, and the fish was fresh, but so was our disappoinment. Read on, my fellow Google Maps wanderer. Atmosphere Nice but not 'I absolutely need to dress up' nice. This is a good date night spot, and I don't know if I'd rather a friend here. Good for up to 4 people, but if it's one-on-one, it might feel romantic. Is that what you want? Romance? Service Good. Not amazing, not awful. Good, to the extent that you don't think about it much, which may be ideal. Food Started off with three assorted tempura, which was a good choice. It was two shrimp, two green beans, a sweet potato, a zucchini, and an onion. Also had the spicy tuna on eggplant tempura. Good, with a generous portion of spicy tuna. I got the deluxe chirashi. The fish was good, but the rice was a little hard and the unagi was chewy. Disappointing. Recommend? I hesitate to.

Sushi Ota is our go-to spot for high-quality sushi when we’re in the San Diego area. During our last trip in June, we made sure to include this restaurant in our dinner plans, and it definitely did not disappoint! We tend to order a lot of nigiri here, as the cuts are always fresh, with many pieces featuring extra-long slices of fish that drape over the rice. On this visit, we ordered three servings of scallop (hotate) nigiri and several other duplicates. I always make a point to order ama ebi, one of my favorites. This time, we took an Uber to fully enjoy their excellent selection of sake, which isn’t readily available at many places we visit in Arizona. We enjoyed a bottle with dinner, which elevated the entire meal. If you love sushi and don’t mind splurging, the bill here can add up quickly. However, having dined at many sushi restaurants, Sushi Ota stands out as a top choice and is well worth the premium price.

Make a Reservation in advance. Each option on the menu is a good choice. I came the first time 15(ish) years ago, you will always leave with a happy smile of good food and happy tummy. The ambience is beautiful, nice and warm. For us, it worth the 3 hours drive to SD!

Absolutely amazing sushi experience. Start off with the calamari, which was end of itself one of the best parts in the meal. Then got the clam miso soup, which actually had a great clam flavor. And got the Nigiri plus the upgraded California roll with the Alaskan King crab, which is an absolute must. Also got the crispy salmon rolls, which were fantastic, but with the rest of the meal was actually the low point, but only because the rest of the meal was phenomenal. Was not quite as expensive as I expected to be either. This is a must if you are in San Diego.

One-liner: hole in the wall japanese restaurant with true Japanese sushi chefs who serve some of the best sushi I’ve ever tasted Parking: very small lot shared with multiple stores so try parking on the streets nearby or behind the behind the building Atmosphere: unassuming store front but once you walk in you are transported to a nice but not intimidating Japanese restaurant Service: very attentive and accommodating Food: - appetizer: calamari has a light crisp but with so much flavor. I highly recommend it - deluxe chirashi bowl: includes toro besides a variety of other dishes and roe. I order it every time I go. - snow crab California roll: real snow crab. Great for those wanting to try sushi but prefer not to eat raw fish. It is also a must to try - teriyaki chicken: simple plating with juicy chicken in a light teriyaki sauce. If you cannot eat raw stuff this can work but the highlight of this place is their raw foods Tip: want to try this place without breaking the bank, try their lunch special on the days (which is not everyday) when they are open for lunch.

With locations near Seaport Village and La Jolla Cove in San Diego, it offers an elegant ambiance for food enthusiasts. The restaurant features outdoor decks, free Wi-Fi, and a community space with occasional live performances.
My wife and I came here for our Anniversary dinner. It was our first time eating at an Eddie V’s restaurant. We’ve heard good things about it so we decided to try it. When I made my reservation, I notified them that we were celebrating our anniversary. Upon arrival, we were seated right away and the restaurant had a very nice surprise at our table. There were rose petals all over the table and a card from the management congratulating us for the date. Our server was very courteous and recommended several dishes. We decided to get the Surf N Turf which was the Chef’s special. The food tasted great and our drinks were fantastic. I personally loved the “private plane”. Very good bourbon cocktail. The only down side was the atmosphere. We were seated next to a large group of people. Over 10 people. It was a bit louder than I would of liked it to be for such an important dinner.

This was an amazing experience. We went for our 11th anniversary, which was a perfect choice. The environment is enjoyable, live music was a vibe, and the food is phenomenal. Service was a exquisite, really felt honored to be apart of this experience. They left roses and a card for our celebration and complimented some treats to celebrate with us. Service alone was unmatched. I had the filet and my wife had the filet & shrimp, we were completely satisfied. Don't miss out, book your reservation soon!

The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly. Everyone was so helpful I can't wait to go back for more! My only complaint is that they are so far from my home in Nebraska 😔. Just looking at the picture has got my mouth watering yum! They also had really good live music the night I went. I felt like a vip dining out eating incredible food while listening to that smooth voice.

Their surf and turf special was pretty solid, as well as their mashed potatoes. I especially enjoyed the live music, our waiters' hospitality, and the atmosphere inside the restaurant. Overall, a great experience with good food and good vibes.

Where do I begin... Over the 4th of July, my wife and I traveled to San Diego with some close friends to celebrate their 50th anniversary. One evening, we chose to dine at Eddie V’s—and it turned out to be the perfect decision. We started with a trio of appetizers: raw oysters, crab cakes, and ahi tuna tartare. Each one was absolutely outstanding and paired beautifully with the stunning ocean view, which set the tone for the rest of the evening. For our entrées, we enjoyed filet mignon with scallops, lamb chops, truffle mac and cheese, and au gratin cheddar potatoes. Every bite was rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. To top it all off, we shared the Meyer lemon tart for dessert—and just thinking about it still makes my mouth water! Our server (forgive me for not recalling her name) made the night even more special by surprising our friends with a beautiful dessert and a heartfelt “Happy Anniversary.” Her service was impeccable—attentive yet unobtrusive. She anticipated every need without being overbearing, which is a rare talent and something we all deeply appreciated. The entire experience left us smiling. One thing is certain: we won’t return to San Diego without coming back to Eddie V’s. It was a truly memorable meal and a perfect way to celebrate a very special occasion. - Thank you all!

Just a Fantastic experience at Eddie Vs. Firstly, our server Heidi was so nice and efficient. The assortment of seafood we ordered was outstanding. Shellfish tower was nicely presented. Calamari delicious, burrata salad perfect, and yellowfin appetizer excellent. Also recommended is the scallop dinner.

Wife and I ate here before a concert at the Shell and enjoyed the Point Judith Calamari and Mini Filet Sandwiches with an Old Fashioned and Blueberry Lemondrop Martini (not on menu, made by special request). Delicious and tasty appetizers and the drinks were well made and satisfying. Old Fashioned prep was authentic and had a nice classy touch.

This is a lovely steakhouse with excellent service, delicious food, and fabulous cocktails. It’s the perfect place to celebrate your birthday at and they truly go above and beyond. Our waiter was thoughtful and gave us lots of space to enjoy our meal. We dressed up a little for this location but I noticed that not all customers did. All in all this location is perfect for a date night, anniversary dinner, birthday, or anything else you want to make special.

Herringbone La Jolla is a renowned seafood restaurant housed in a beautifully renovated 1930s-era warehouse. The restaurant offers inventive seafood dishes in a dramatic and vintage atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for a photogenic weekend brunch. The verdure-touched, romantically lit rustic beachside oasis provides the perfect setting for indulging in their delicious offerings.
This is the best seafood I’ve had in San Diego so far. The ambience here is incredible. The building itself is an old auto body shop turned into a Tuscan seaport diner. The trees inside are real preserved olive trees. The service was excellent and the food was well worth the price. Make sure you swing by the bar and talk to Joe for great conversation and menu recommendations! For dinner we ordered the seafood tower, which was such a great sampler of all their cold seafood. For dinner I had their fish and chips, which was the best fish and chips I’ve ever had anywhere. They use a homemade batter from a local brewery (pizza port) to fry their snapper to a perfectly crunchy yet soft and flavorful breading. I also tried some of their scallops, which were amazing, and their filet, which was incredibly tender and perfectly cooked. The brandy peppercorn sauce on top was a great touch. For dessert we tried their coconut brûlée and their lemon blueberry tarte.

The atmosphere was so Fantastic, the food was so delicious. We ordered 10 dishes most of them are seafood. The seafood tower was great, never forget to order oysters. The waiter was very patient, helpful, and friendly. Can't complain about anything.

Loved the 100+ olive trees, the vibe and atmosphere at Herringbone is perfect for dates nights, family nights or just having a fun evening with friends. Great bar and cocktail menu. Though the wine list can be more extensive, found it limiting. Oysters and lobster rolls were fantastic, a couple vegetarian optiond on the menu would help!

Great ambience. Technically extremely well prepared food. Delicious flavor. Great wine selection and service. Love the trees inside the restaurant and the lighting. Really nice atmosphere. Ordered the filet medium. Nice outer crust and tender medium cooked on the inside. The peppercorn sauce was savory but not overpowering. The dessert was pretty amazing. The sorbet was refreshing and the strawberry tart fresh not too sweet. Great restaurant for a special occasion.

Did not live up to our expectations. The hostess was very nice and accommodating when we ended up with 2 additions to our party. Our server was not very friendly, not very talkative and not very informative. My jale' berry cocktail was perfect. We ordered the seafood tower, it was just average. The calamari was very good and the grilled octopus was one of the best I've ever had. We ordered a couple dozen oysters and one of my oysters was bad, thankfully I noticed the smell as soon as I picked it up. When I brought it to our waiters attention he carried it off and brought back six more oysters arguing with us that that were just fresh shucked. A bad oyster is a bad oyster, but the shucker should have noticed, the smell was horrendous! After smelling a bad oyster, the last thing I want is six more oysters. I just would've expected much better from a place such as this. Dirty glasses, a dirty knife, dirty fork, we had to send back, the waiter seemed annoyed. For a fine dining restaurant we would certainly expect much better. Nice atmosphere, but not a good experience.
Lynn C — Google review
Love the ambiance here, it’s fun and clever and comfortable. Their drink menu might be my favorite part. I like to go tapas style here, I love their appetizers and small plates. I am not a huge fan of their entrees. 4 stars only because I feel this place used to be better a few years ago, and it seems their quality has slipped a bit. Maybe I caught them on an off night. Still a great spot for a fun dinner.
Hannah H — Google review
The atmosphere has almost a cabana style feel to it with occasional live music. Great natural lighting available from any angle for all your photo needs. The food is amazing I have ordered about half the items so far and have yet to be disappointed. There is food for non meat eaters available as well. The selection of oysters are from around the world and well worth the price. The staff is always amazingly pleasant and willing to assist with any questions you have.
M M — Google review
5 stars for sure! I’ve been wanting to go here for years and finally made it! Made a reso on open table for the same night. Very cool vibe inside with eclectic mix of songs playing. Definitely on the expensive side for drinks but everything we had was delicious including the aperol spritz. Recommend the petite seafood tower which had great portions of everything. Enjoyed the halibut ceviche the most. Salmon, steak and shrimp for mains all were delicious. Only 3 shrimp with that main so be prepared. Will definitely return.

If you're on the hunt for a seafood haven, look no further than Fish 101 Leucadia. This charming family-run restaurant is helmed by a husband and wife chef duo who are passionate about serving up sustainably-caught local fish with a Californian twist. The menu boasts an array of mouthwatering options, from classic fish and chips to tantalizing tacos and burritos, all crafted with fresh ingredients that elevate traditional flavors.
I have never been a huge fan of cooked fish for most of my life, but good fish tacos and good fish and chips have changed that (as well as grilled whole fish like in Mexico). Fish 101 has GREAT food. The fish is perfect, and they made all the dishes and sides as good as any other place I have probably ever had. The fish tacos with the salsa are excellent. Highly recommend. The restaurant looks like a converted house complete with a covered back patio. It's all pretty cool and provides a unique atmosphere.

Have been to this location a few times and the food and service never disappoints. The Baja fish tacos are simple and yet delicious. Staff is always friendly. Parking is a little rough since there’s no lot and you have to park on the street. Park on the side of the road in front of the motel or wine store.

The fish and chips (cod) was delicious. Very light batter and the fish was soft and really good. The fish tacos were okay but not as good. The chips were great. Chowder was great. We all loved the oysters. The dozen we had were fantastic.

The best Mexican/Seafood dish I’ve ever had!! Loved their tortilla!! I had grilled Mahi Mahi plate with seaweed salad and brown rice, soooo good! I got a bite of fish burrito from my daughter, which was also delicious!! Plus, their pico de garo and guacamole were the best!! It’s a basic thing but is very important🥑🍅

Clam chowder was really good! Tuna poke bowl also good but I only got one small sliver or avocado with it and I would’ve liked minimum half an avocado for the size of the bowl. Pink sauce was also pretty spicy but overall it was good.

If you're on the hunt for a seafood paradise, look no further than Crab Hut! This nautical-themed eatery is a haven for seafood enthusiasts, offering an impressive array of dishes that highlight the best of Cajun-Creole cuisine. From succulent crab and shrimp to mouthwatering mussels and clams, their menu is designed to satisfy every craving. One standout dish you simply can't miss is their gumbo—a hearty blend of shrimp, crab, sausage, and rice that warms the soul.
Came to the downtown location for the first time and service was very good, the hostess informed me there is a 18% service fee already added to the bill, I thought that was nice of him to give us the heads up. The seafood boil was good as well as the drink for 2. Crispy calamari and fries is a must and the jambalaya was very flavorful. World definitely come back again.

Delicious! And a wonderful experience. This restaurant is more about the experience of the meal than the meal itself. And, the seafood is exceptional. Select your items. We chose crab and shrimp. Added lobster. They come with some potatoes and corn. Your sauces and your heat level. They bring everything to the table in a bag. Dump and go for it! A fun night and delicious food. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it.

Chain sea food restaurant that the taste might vary from one location to another. It is a good choice if you’re a seafood person. It combines the experience of eating seafood and the experience of eating the mixture of seafood in one bag. Worth to try
Dawood M — Google review
Few things are more disappointing than spending over $200 on a truly underwhelming dining experience. From the moment we arrived, the limited food options were a red flag. When I requested a simple side of rice, the server flatly said “no.” I asked again, clarifying, “You have rice, so could you serve it in a small bowl?”—but was met with the same unhelpful attitude. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I know how easy it is to offer a reasonable alternative or at least make an effort. Unfortunately, our server seemed completely uninterested in providing even basic hospitality. Perhaps that explains the mandatory 18% service fee—because without it, gratuity might be hard to come by. Service was slow, and the food simply wasn’t good. I had high hopes for the beignets to end the meal on a better note, but they were a letdown too: dense, flavorless dough balls served with rock-hard ice cream I had to cut with a knife. And not a proper knife—plastic. Everything came with plastic utensils and paper plates, even for dessert. For a restaurant with such high prices, this felt more like a poorly planned picnic than a premium experience. I’ve never encountered anything like it before, and I truly hope I never do again.

Food was bland didn't finish it, or want to take any home. Service was ok could of been better. We arrived and we were seated right away. After we ordered we saw they had a Sunday special and asked if it applied to our meal but they said its for the bar only. Would've been nice if they told us about any specials before seating us. Its not like the place was pack either. Would not comeback unless they put some actual seasoning in their food.

Stake Chophouse & Bar is a modern steakhouse with a classic feel, offering an array of fine USDA Prime, dry-aged, Japanese A5, and American Wagyu beef cuts. It has earned the prestigious Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence for seven consecutive years. The Stake Experience is highly recommended, featuring a five-course journey through the menu with optional wine pairings.
★★★★ Skirt Steak Dreams! If you're looking for a great steak spot in Coronado, this is it. Seriously, the skirt steak was one of the best I've had in a long, long time. So good. We also got the French onion soup and it was delicious—really flavorful and cheesy, but not too salty like they can sometimes be. The staff was great, too. They were always there when you needed them but didn't interrupt our conversation. Definitely going back!

Food was incredible. We had the lamb, lobster mashed potatoes, wagyu steak, veggies, wine, etc. Our server, on the other hand, seemed inconvenienced by our presence. No one seemed happy to be working there. It really brought the mood down. Ordering from a touch screen menu would have been a better experience.
Danica H — Google review
Disappointing Return to What Was Once a Favorite. I’ve been to Stake Chophouse with my wife before and had an exceptional experience, so I was genuinely looking forward to this visit with the five guests I had invited. Unfortunately, this time was a real letdown — especially considering the high price point and the reputation this place carries. The food simply didn’t meet expectations. My steak, which should have been the centerpiece of the meal, was overcooked and lacked the depth of flavor I remembered from past visits. One of the guest had the salmon, which in his words were, it was flavorless. The sides — which arrived after a noticeable delay — were underwhelming and felt more like afterthoughts than thoughtfully crafted dishes. Service was another major disappointment. It took far too long for anyone to take our drink and dinner orders, and the attentiveness throughout the evening was lacking. At a restaurant of this caliber (and cost), I expect a seamless, professional experience — not to be flagging down staff for water refills or basic condiments. Overall, this visit simply didn’t justify the steep price tag. I’m hoping it was just an off night, but for now, I’ll be thinking twice before returning — and I certainly can’t recommend it the way I once did.
Doug S — Google review
A fabulous restaurant and memorable experience. I was very impressed with the high level of service, attentiveness, and quality. Ordered the A5 wagyu and it was out of this world! Although the steak was remarkable, personally selecting our knives was so much fun —felt like we were in a Harry Potter movie choosing our wands. Each knife was handcrafted with a meaningful story. The entire meal was magical and unique.
Toni S — Google review
An absolute pleasure. Every bite was delectable. I had the Cesar salad and the skirt steak that was recommended by our waiter Ziggy. His way of explaining the steak and the knives they offer, was like listening to a storybook description and he was on target with his recommendations for the 6 of us. He made it an experience to remember...I can't mention enough adjectives to describe the service he gave us. And Sebastian! He was at the ready to clear our table leaving it pristine and enjoyable for us. I would def come back and do it again and again and again. Chefs kiss.

Lobster West Coronado is a casual eatery specializing in seafood sandwiches and offering a selection of beer and wine. With locations in Encinitas and La Jolla, this mini-chain is known for its delectable lobster rolls made with imported Maine lobster, as well as options filled with scallops, crab, or shrimp. The cozy atmosphere and the tantalizing aroma of the food make it a gem for seafood lovers.
Great stop for a lobster roll. They also offer crab and shrimp rolls. The rolls are done Maine Style. Some folks say the price of the rolls is expensive; however, considering the price of fresh lobster, I think the prices are competitive. I had the tasty New England Clam Chowder and the side salad. The salad was huge, fresh and the dressing was very good. A good bargain for $5 dollars. Be patient, especially on weekends; between the sit-down customers and the "to go" orders; it gets very busy.
Ruth J — Google review
I think it's a bit pricey for lobster rolls for how much you're getting and it's not that much better than other places I tried. I also tried their soup flights and I will say the New England clam chowder and Maryland crab soup was decent BUT the lobster bisque was really bad. Both my friend and I had a cup of it and ended up throwing the entire thing but it didn't taste good and it had a really bad aftertaste to it. Honestly, if you're in San Diego, you can find better places to grab a roll and a cup of chowder for cheaper.

We ordered lobster rolls and crab cakes to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and we loved every minute of it. The meat was plentiful and moist. The crab cake was not dry. We can’t wait to go back.

Stopped by Lobster West Coronado and ordered the Nor’easter (lobster, crab, and shrimp). Absolutely exceeded expectations! The roll itself was fantastic—crispy on the outside, soft and buttery inside without being greasy. The highlight for me was the crab roll—sweet, fresh, and easily one of the best I’ve ever had. Portion was just right, flavors were spot on, and the price was more than fair. A must visit in Coronado!

We had a great meal at Lobster West in Coronado. The signature lobster rolls were fresh, buttery, and full of flavor. My husband usually doesn’t like lobster rolls because the bread is too thick or dry — but this one was soft, moist, and perfectly toasted. Great for dunking in their amazing clam chowder! We also tried the baked beans, which were delicious too. Friendly service and a relaxed vibe made it even better. Definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area!

Now I had lobster a couple times and I'm beginning to love it. San Diego is my hometown so I wanted to fit into the vibe and have some sea food when I visted. I saw a lot of positive comments on this place and decided to get a little taste. I ordered the lobster roll and some fries... for $45 I'm not quite impressed, maybe it was the day I came though the market was kinda packed. The top part of the lobster roll had some flavor because of the seasoning but the rest tasted a little bland. the fries had more flavor than the roll. The environment was nice but the food was okay. All in all I feel as if I could have paid $25-30 for this meal
Unity G — Google review
I went to the San Diego location at Liberty Station Market. I ordered the Wicked Hot fries on top of the Captain Catch, priced around $30+. As I was eating my fries I realized that there was bacon on it, I asked the person at the register if it was supposed to have bacon on it as that wasn't shown on the menu. They stated no. I have been a pescatarian for over 12 years, which means I don't eat bacon as apart of my diet. I had to give the rest of my fries to my friend as I couldn't finish eating it, that's when she told me she thought it tasted like clam chowder and had chunks of potato's (Like a clam chowder). So I believe I was given the clam chowder fries which has bacon on it, which was around $20. The person at the register just smiled and said there were sorry and didn't credit me the extra $10 or anything. They were polite but I feel frustrated with the situation. This was my second time with you guys, I loved It the first time so wanted I took my friend here to enjoy. But upset with the order and how it was handled.
Ariel T — Google review
The lobster itself was fresh and tasted fine, but I was disappointed with the presentation of the lobster roll. Instead of being on a proper roll, it came on a single folded piece of bread with just a small serving of fries. For the price, I expected more. The bread really didn’t work for me, and it took away from the overall experience.
Rod R — Google review
Losbter and crab roll were flavorful and filling. We had the meal which came with a drink and a side of fries. The fries were crispy, not too greasy and not overly salty. Seating was available directly infront of the food stall. Price was about $85 total for 3 of us. Food and service were great overall.
Jaye J — Google review
I don't know what they hype is about. Mediocre at best, the other photos show buns over flowing with lobster, the two we ordered had just enough to show it was there. The canned clam Chowder was a nice touch. Def not worth the headache of going to the over crowded location for a $20 mini lobster roll and difficult parking.
Jeffrey B — Google review
There was no one behind the counter for a long time during the dinner hour. As you can see in the picture the $20 lobster roll is extremely small . Not coming back

Lobster taco, classic lobster roll, & some truffle mac & cheese! The lobster taco had a cheese crusted tortilla & cabbage slaw that paired wonderfully with the lobster. The truffle mac and cheese is very rich, creamy, & cheesy, so if that’s your jam then it’s the perfect dish for ya. These three items came out to about $50.

The menu features fresh, high-quality seafood items prepared in a variety of ways, as well as beer and wine options for those who prefer to relax and enjoy their meal.
We went the first time on Father's Day and the results were not so good. So we went back on another day when the restaurant was less crowded and had a very different experience. All the meals were well-prepared and the seafood was very fresh. The steamed mussels and clams may possibly be the best I have ever had. The fish and chips were definitely above average, and the steam plate with crab, shrimp, clams, mussels, corn and potatoes was exceptional. The corn appetizers where unique and amazing both visually as well as by taste. The lobster roll was also as good as anything I have ever had in Maine. They also had an excellent selection of local craft beers and other beers on tap. B restaurant has a great atmosphere with very friendly service. we especially enjoyed the outdoor dining area, a great spot to meet with friends for drinks or dinner we will definitely be back.

I LOVE this place. I’ve been coming frequently for a few months now and just can’t get enough. They just released their new menu (way to go, it needed an upgrade) with lots of new options. I am a huge fan of their happy hour, it’s everyday and great bites and drinks (see picture for menu). There’s street parking around but it’s definitely in a populated area so you may not get lucky every time. For somebody who lives around the corner, the prices for regular priced food is a little expensive but still reasonable. Love the vibe, love the location, love their beer selection, love their Oysters. Highly recommended.

Came in one afternoon to check out $1 oyster happy hour (3-6p) and grab some beers. The indoor/outdoor combination of seating is nice, but the environment is more of a casual grab and go. Seating tends to be communal and is more outdoorsy picnic bench style. No servers, have to order at the bar and seat yourself. Not sure the place is living up to its full potential and lacks in atmosphere.

Nice vibe. Tentative staff. Delicious surf and turf burrito! Ate that burrito and I was full the rest of the day! Definitely worth the money. Good beer selection

Oscars Mexican Seafood is a popular chain of Mexican seafood restaurants, with its first location opening in Pacific Beach in 2011. Despite being modestly billed as a casual, local shop, it has consistently been listed as one of the best Mexican restaurants in San Diego. The Ensenada-style battered fish taco is a local favorite and even caught the attention of chef Andrew Zimmern.
I thought this place was great. We started with the ceviche which was awesome. They only had shrimp so we tried that. 5/5 I ordered the skirt steak, surf and turf and smoked fish tacos. My fav was the surf and turf. All were good but the surf and turf was exceptional. The smoked fish was unique and good but not something I’d order regularly. 5/5 Atmosphere was counter service with outdoor dining 3/5

A sincerly nice joint for a great bite of seafood. It's lovely food, made with love, with fresh in-house made salsas and agua frescas. I will say due to its popularity and the small size of the actual resteraunt, it *does* get super crowded at peak eating times. But what sets this place apart from other wonderful eateries? Veronica. She's almost always the cashier you speak to at the register to order your meal, and she's a literal angel. She's sweet, kind, and sp patient. She'll call you "sweetie" or "mija/mijo" and she means it. She's happy to tell you all about the menu items, and never skimps on twlling you how *she* likes it (spoiler alert: she's always right, imho). So come to Oscar's for the amazing mariscos (the fisherman's torta is INSANE) but stay for mama Veronica, because she's the heart and soul of this place. ❤️

Oscar’s is easily one of my favorite spots for Mexican seafood in San Diego. The fish tacos are next-level—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Our favorites are the especial, octopus, battered shrimp, and grilled spicy shrimp taco. Don't forget to use their freshly made sauces in the fridge along with an assortment of other hot sauces. Their fish stew is also surprisingly fresh and savory. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the casual vibe makes it the perfect stop whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or hanging with friends. This location has inside seating and easier parking since it's located in a strip mall. A must stop it you're in the SD area.

Great service. Was given a cup of their seafood stew while we were deciding on what to order. Very hearty seafood stew with a chicken base. The taco especial was particularly great. Surf n tuf, which is usually my go to at taco shops was a little disappointing. I guess it goes to say that they are a seafood establishment and each and every seafood-based dish was fantastic
Joon L — Google review
Great casual Mexican seafood spot. Authentic. Set up is great for take out, but enough tables for around 20. They offered fish soup samples, which had excellent broth and plenty of meat and vegetables. The grilled octopus taco was balanced and substantial. Others in our party enjoyed fried fish and smoked fish tacos.
Douglas M — Google review
Best seafood tacos I ever had outside of Mexico. Staff members were very kind courteous and generous. Go straight for the shrimp or fish or shrimp+fish tacos. Don’t bother with the ceviche, taco was far better. And the horchata drink! That was amazing!
Shams R — Google review
The octopus taco was perfectly cooked and the tuna ceviche was fresh. Update: Revisited and tried the fish/shrimp ceviche. It was zesty and fresh. The only knock is that they didn’t include the extra tostada, but charged me for it

This was the first place I ate at after arriving in San Diego for the first time. The lady behind the counter was so sweet and helpful, as were the other members of the staff. The torta I had didn't hold back in size and taste, and every scoop of the shrimp cerviche was packed with flavour and zest.

If you're looking for a delicious seafood experience, Mariscos German Beyer is definitely the spot for you. The shrimp cocktail and tostadas are both amazing, but be sure to try out the seven chili sauce too – it's totally amazing! The only downside is that the restaurant can be quite busy, so make reservations if you want to eat here.
The seafood is fresh and cocktails are served nice and cold. The fish tacos have a generous piece of fried fish which comes in a medium sized corn tortilla. Last visit the Barbie cocktail was a little out of my usual choices, it included Abalone and oysters. A little out of my comfort zone but I finished it. This visit I had the Shrimp and Octopus cocktail and it is very filling. The cocktail doesn't have a fishy taste like other places and it is chilled as opposed to lukewarm like other places. Very refreshing and light lunch with more protein than what you get with Sushi. A great meal to cure hangovers. A little pricey but hey, it's fresh seafood. I recommend eating here though seating is limited. You can take orders out and get your beer at the liquor store while they prepare your order.

SALTY everything. Crazy salty especial tostadas, 2 shrimp tacos, 2 fish tacos, and 2 surf and turf were flavored with just salt. Not a hint of Mexican seasoning or spice. Total was $50. How are these people okay with overcharging for low quality food? The prices were marked off for some reason...overpriced food. The batter breading was too thick and oily! More breading than meat. I could only finish 1 taco because of this was heavy. Their hot sauce did not help cut the salty food either. Don't even get me started with their special tostadas. The oyster and clams tasted so fishy and covered with brown liquid. It cost $20 or so. Very disappointing after reading these reviews. A sit down restaurant is more affordable and higher quality. It makes sense that they have a sign up saying their fish tacos were rated best right by the dumpster. And there was like a portapotty right behind the tents that customers eat as of June 12th. Gross!
Stissy S — Google review
The chimichurri taco was good, not great just good. The La Crazy Especial tostada had some parts that were good, but too salty. The salt was crunchy and not in a good way. The oyster was not cleaned thoroughly so I crunched on sand.
Guadalupe G — Google review
Food was excellent but the service was poor. We had to wait 40 min before food was ready and majority of the menu wasn’t available. Finally, when the fish tacos were available they were 3 for $16. While the food was incredible, we felt like the prices were gouged for us gringos. Highly recommend anything with ceviche and the spicy fish tacos.

Have you ever had a situation where you wanted to whip out your phone and post a 5 star review immediately upon finishing your meal? This was the case the first time I ate the "7 Chiles Taco" at the Mariscos German food truck in its permanent residence in a liquor store parking lot on Beyer Boulevard in south San Diego. This game-changing taco has large chunks of moist, mild-flavored grilled fish in a delectable sauce confirmed by Chef Jorge Fuentes to contain blended fresh jalapeño, fresh habanero, fresh güerito, fresh serrano, árbol, guajillo, and chiltepin (aka the "mother of all peppers"), oregano, and chicken bouillon. Drizzled over the fish and two giant slices of fresh avocado. Crispy leaves. Double corn tortillas. The resulting taco is spicy, juicy, crunchy, and perfect. If you somehow don't remember to order that one, give their O.G. "Taco de Pescado" (Fish Taco) a try. There is a slight sweetness to the batter they use to fry the fish here, it is almost like a funnel cake - and details like the sweetness of the batter matters in a city where nearly everybody has figured out how to make fish tacos really, really well. The difference between the best and everyone else often comes down to small deviations and subtle secrets. The tempura-like batter is otherwise similar to most others, perhaps a good deal crispier. The white sauce is nothing special, the packaged tortillas are inoffensive, and the fish is sufficiently moist, but it is the peculiar taste of the batter that keeps me coming back here and ordering their Fish Taco. The "Gobernador Taco" features stir-fried shrimp, tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, and... celery, with melted cheese. Cajun cooks refer to the combination of peppers, onions, and celery as the "Holy Trinity," as it is at the base of most Cajun stews and gumbos, similar to how the French use mirepoix or Mexican cooks use sofrito. I couldn't help but think "shrimp étouffée" while eating this taco. The combination of these elements results in a savory, sweet, greasy, and gooey taco that just flat-out works. As excellent as the tacos are, my favorite thing to order at Mariscos German Beyer is the "Tostada Loca," a massive plate of seafood served with the aforementioned "7 chiles sauce" along with tostadas fried on-premises on a daily basis. This plate of food begins with a layer of white fish ceviche with tomatoes, cucumbers, cilantro, and onions, topped with another ceviche of cooked shrimp with more tomatoes and cilantro, then a layer of poached octopus, boiled whole shrimp, scallops, de-shelled white clams, then garnished with avocado wedges, sliced red onions, and raw shellfish: chopped mussels, whole oysters, and black clams in their shells. The entire thing is then doused with a combination of Maggi and freshly-squeezed lemon juice. The "Tostada Loca" is our modern tower of Babel, a sign that man has mastered his universe, and a symbol of self-idolatry in defiance of God's will. Back to that eye-opening first visit to Mariscos German Beyer: I had been behind a family of 6 on a Sunday afternoon with their thick southern accents, obviously tourists, but smart tourists who had enough sense to know THIS was the place to order 20 different tacos... and I said to myself, "oh boy here we go, I'm gonna be here for an hour behind these people," but the man taking the order cut through the chaos with great efficiency. Further, their order was served to them in less than 5 minutes after they put it in, and mine served to me just a minute after that. More evidence that quality pervades every aspect of this inexpensive lonchera.

Everything I tried here was actually delicious. I would recommend this place and go back. I wish I lived closer so I can stop by more often. There is only one other place I eat mariscos at and that's Hijoz de su Madre in Rialto. There are about to open up there new restaurant in West Covina.

I had been craving fish tacos for a while and we were gonna go to our usual spot (El Cacho). But the past few times we went there, they weren't that great. So I googled for a fish taco place and Mariscos German came up. My husband and I decided to try them and we were not sorry. Straight up, these are thee best fish tacos I've ever had! They were big pieces of fish. Crispy on the outside and soft from the inside. I would definitely recommend this food truck in a heart beat! Only bad thing is that it's a bit hidden so we passed it. It's parked towards the back of the liquor store. They should put out signs facing the street. We'll for sures be going again and decided that Mariscos German will be our new fish taco place! BTW, it comes with pico de gallo but I asked for them without it.

The fish taco will be the best thing you've ever eaten. Perfectly flaky and moist on the inside, audibly crisp on the outside, and just the right amount of spice. Seriously, believe the hype.

Hidden Fish is a small and intimate Japanese omakase sushi spot in San Diego, offering an elevated dining experience. The menu features impeccable sushi and sashimi sourced from local fisheries and the renowned Tsukiji Fish Market in Japan. Chef John Hong expertly guides diners through a timed omakase tasting menu, ensuring that each item is presented in a specific order to enhance its flavors.
This was the most laid back yet dialed experience Ive ever had. My brother and me enjoyed every piece and shared sake and beers with our amazingly talented sushi chef Steven. Cairo killed it with the service! Would go again 1 million times.

Food 5: Wow… every bite is like its own adventure. The variety of fish that was served paired with the detail of the chefs was a perfect combination that made this experience worth every penny. My favorite Nigiri’s were the Smokey Albacore and the Jack Mackarel Service 5: The waiters pay close attention to make sure you need anything. The chefs were really informative and were a pleasure to share a conversation with. The timing of each fish being served was perfect. Atmosphere 3: The place was really small and intimate. Only sits about 12 people. Inside the restaurant was nothing special. However this is what happens when the main focus is the food and service. Over all 4.5/5

Hidden Fish is a rare gem tucked away in San Diego—a true temple of omakase dining where each bite is a revelation. From the moment you walk through the doors, there’s a sense that you’re about to experience something transcendent. The intimacy of the space, the deliberate flow of the service, and the elegance in every detail set the tone for what becomes an unforgettable culinary journey. If you’re seeking the pinnacle of sushi craftsmanship in Southern California, look no further—this is it. Chef Kappa, also known as Chef John, is nothing short of a sushi sorcerer. His passion, precision, and deep respect for each ingredient radiate from every course. Watching him work is like watching an artist paint—a quiet intensity that transforms fish and rice into edible poetry. Every piece is expertly composed and delivered with intention, from the warm aged soy brushed over pristine cuts of toro to the perfectly timed service of uni that melts with a whisper. He engages warmly, but always lets the food do the talking. And wow, does it speak volumes. The energy in Hidden Fish is something you don’t find often—equal parts meditative and electric. You feel honored to be there. It’s as though the outside world disappears and you’ve been invited into a sacred ritual, one that celebrates balance, seasonality, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. The team executes with grace, from the synchronized plating to the gracious hospitality that never feels forced. It’s fine dining without the pretentiousness—a rarity in today’s dining scene. But perhaps the most jaw-dropping aspect is the value. For the level of quality, technique, and exclusivity you receive, the price is beyond fair. In fact, it’s almost a crime not to call this the best omakase experience in San Diego. Hidden Fish doesn’t just set the bar—it is the bar. And thanks to Chef Kappa’s brilliant leadership, it will no doubt continue to define what true omakase should be.

Excellent experience. There was about 1 staff person/ 2 guests. Very helpful, accommodating servers. The chefs were a lot of fun, and most of all the food was impeccable. Delicious flavors, great presentation, local, and awesome variety. Superb deal for the 18 course omakase. Highly recommended.

Great choice for good omakase style nigiri in San Diego. It is a bit out of the way, in the backend Asian part of San Diego, near the auto dealers, but I'm very much glad this store exists. We were rather late our appointment, but our chef caught us up quickly and skillfully. The fish is sourced from Mexico and local waters, so this cannot be described as traditional edomae, but it is clear that the team here is doing their best to offer good food at a reasonable price with great service. For those who want to celebrate the new and their endeavors, please visit Hidden Fish.

This was incredible. The service was perfect, the vibe was casual with the focus being the food. We had the 18 course and every bite was worth every penny. The entire front of the house and chefs were super lively and fun, we had Chef Steven and it was super enjoyable to talk and share drinks with him as he prepared us some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Some of the highlights were the Black Cod, Sea Bream, and Yellowtail.

Food I am so glad I found this restaurant. Absolutely amazing. The 18 course (pieces) omakase was well worth the price. All three chefs were super chilled and skilled. My favourite bite was the Uni & Salmon Roe. Everything else It was a small place, but very elegant and intimate. There were total 15 seats at the sushi bar. Everyone was super friendly and they checked in with you every once a while to make sure things are going well and if you don’t like a particular fish, they could substitute something else for you.

Reservation only - requires a $270 deposit for the 18-course omakase for two people. I booked the 7PM slot. You can arrive a little earlier and order some drinks in the small waiting area. Very intimate space, meant for 12-13 customers to enjoy their meals in peace. Brought my husband here for his birthday dinner last week. Excellent quality of fish and everything was carefully prepared / seasoned nicely. Attentive and friendly staff, always ready to replenish your drinks. Chefs explained what each nigiri was / where the fish was sourced as they presented it, but you also have a copy of the omakase menu & a pencil in front of you to mark your favorites. I was still hungry after the 18 courses, so we did order several items from their a la carte menu after, including some of our fave nigiris we tried from the omakase (sea bream, barracuda), and I also got a salmon hand roll to make sure I'd be full :) Came out to $400+ ($200+ pp) with drinks and after 22% tip (the service deserved it). Worth the price for a high quality meal! PS: we were told they only order enough fish to serve for that night, so everything is fresh! Other thing to note: depending on which chef you get, the sizes of your nigiris will vary and may be prepared differently compared to others (as in the other group with the other chef) simply due to differences in their preparation styles. I did notice our group's nigiris were smaller, but we didn't mind that particularly because we like less rice.

We had a fabulous meal at Sandpiper Wood Fired Grill! We came here off a recommendation from my best friend who is a local to San Diego so you know it's going to be good. The food was marvelous, the service was friendly, and atmosphere was relaxed and chill. It was a comfortable meal with wonderful flavors. Some highlights and high recommendations: brussel sprouts were amazing! Oysters were fresh and juicy, crispy shrimp was excellent, the linguini was great. Everything we ordered was fantastic actually (take a look at the pics to see what we ordered.). The Hawaiian cheesecake was a perfect ending to an otherwise fantastic meal and experience. 5 stars and two thumbs up for Sandpiper! Thank you to the chef and staff for a truly memorable meal.

Went to Sandpiper for a business dinner. The atmosphere, service, and food were all fabulous! I had the Salmon with farro which was phenomenal. We shared the oyster appetizer and a variety of other goodies. Then the table ordered every dessert. The profiterole was my favorite with a tart raspberry vibe and perfect pastry. The wine and drink selection are A+. We will definitely be back for the atmosphere and food. Our waiter was also beyond kind because our guest took forever to get through their meal and we were definitely a long time.

Just enjoyed a wonderful dinner at The Sandpiper. Our waiter was professional and friendly and the food was excellent. We started with the cod croquettes - hot and crispy with a nice creamy sauce. Since it was a Sat night, my husband had the prime rib (only available Fri and Sat nights). It was perfectly cooked and had an awesome smokey flavor. It was served with a skillet of a loaded baked potato, which you can see from the picture, was a meal within itself. I had the pesto pasta and added grilled shrimp.

Sandpiper has a nice ambiance for a date night. I recommend the corn cake for an appetizer, it’s sweet, a little spicy and delicious. I tried the red baron cocktail which was tasty. I had a hard time selecting a drink because they all sounded good. I had the endive and arugula salad with feta and pistachios with added shrimp for my meal. My one complaint is that the shrimp was in the salty side. Service was good as well.
Danielle M — Google review
We were genuinely excited to try Sandpiper in La Jolla — especially because it replaced Galaxy Tacos, a spot my wife and I used to visit regularly. Back then, their wood-grilled fish was nothing short of amazing — perfectly crisp on top, smoky, and full of flavor. So when we heard the same ownership opened a “wood-grilled” concept, we had high hopes. Sadly, the experience couldn’t have been more disappointing. I ordered the trout and even confirmed with the server that it was wood grilled before ordering. But when the dish arrived, it tasted nothing like what we remembered. The first bite was confusing — overly citrusy and oddly sweet — flavors that don’t belong on a grilled fish. The texture was off too, soft and pan-fried rather than crisp and flame-seared. It’s disheartening when a place built on the promise of wood grilling misses the essence of it. The warmth and smoky character that made Galaxy Tacos’ fish unforgettable just weren’t there. Here’s hoping they rediscover that spark — because La Jolla deserves a wood-grilled fish worthy of the name.

EXQUISITE This is my first time here, I've seen it on so many top recommends from people in videos and people have mentioned it in person. I've been meaning to come here for a long time. It's in an obscure location among beautiful corporate office buildings in beautiful Sorrento Valley. I finally made it because I was nearby. It's a little awkward to get to from different locations in San Diego. I thought it was absolutely delicious. Every bite not boring. Loved it. I didn't realize that the line is an issue I got here and was first and it was a tad slow but very very good.

Came here on a Thursday at 4:30 for an early dinner. This is in Mira Mesa area surrounded by business offices. There was plenty of parking. Upon walking in, you order at the counter. No lines yet at that time but when we left, there was a line. Had the small bowl spicy ahi poke with brown rice. It tasted fresh and spice on the poke was on point. Friends ordered the fish taco, fish & chips, and fish sandwich. Everything was delicious. Will definitely come back to try other items on the menu.

This location of Hawaiian Fresh Seafood is in the middle of a few businesses and hard to find if you don’t know where to look. There’s a few tables inside and even more seating outside on the lawn. We went on a weeknight and it wasn’t that busy. They still had everything on the menu available so we decided to get more than just the poke, which they are known for. Everything we got was extremely fresh and we throughly enjoyed everything we got.

This place has a big juicy burger, along with some really good poke. The fish is fresh and on point. They fly it in from Hawaii. The poke nachos are smackin, dont sleep on the octopus. Plenty of outdoor seating. They have shade and sunny seating. Also a decent selection of sweets and beer on tap and can.

Food is delicious 😋 Fish is definitely fresh! The plate comes with huge portion, maybe next time I'll do 2 scoop medium bowl. Who am I kidding I nearly finished the plate because it's that good! Oh also $2 off draft beer during happy hour 3pm-5pm 🤙🏾 Happy Customer 😁

Hawaiian Fresh seafood is pretty much a must stop for us anytime we are in San Diego. We’ve been coming here since they were at their old location. This place is a combination of clean space, plenty of seating, and easy to find parking. Staff is generally pretty friendly and helpful, although during lunch/busy hours you do feel rushed. I feel like there’s always a line here but it says a lot about the quality of the food here. I’m always in the mood for Hawaiian style poke in SD, not the commonly found Cali style poke you find a lot in LA. I love that the poke here is fresh and most importantly, mot overly reliant on sauces. The flavors of the fish come through, and blends perfectly with the selections they offer. You really can’t go wrong with any of their poke. It’s worth it! I’m biased towards their tuna, especially the bluefin poke. On this visit we tried the seared Ahi salad. It was delicious. Generous and well Cajun seasoned tuna, generous avocado. The Cajun spices with the sweet dressing is perfect! Come visit and give this place a try. I think they have other locations, but the one here will always be the OG for us anytime we’re in SD

Long lunch time line but totally worth the wait around 1pm on Saturday. I didn't know you had option to choose French fries or tater tots for fish and chips. The Tater tots were super crispy. Love love love the ahi belly bomb and I always only get at least 2 different poke by the pound and add my own rice side and Mac salad side. I also get a musubi to go to eat later. The guys here are awesome and the food is always so delicious. ♥️♥️♥️

Restaurant
Chef John's Fish & Chips is a casual, fast-food style counter-serve spot that offers a variety of fried seafood favorites and chicken dishes. Located in Lemon Grove, San Diego, this restaurant is known for its deliciously crispy fish and chips. The portions are generous, and the fish is described as tasty, light, and flaky. In addition to traditional fish and chips, they also offer creatively made tacos and salads featuring fresh fish.
Hidden gem. Food comes out piping hot, their batter is crispy and delicious. I recommend dining-in for the best experience. This is not fast food so it is a 15 min+ wait but so worth it for the made to order freshness. They don't have huge portions and it is on the pricier side but I've never left feeling unsatisfied. I recommend the Fish and Oyster with fries.

Fish was pretty good. Tasted fresh and was freshly prepared. The tarter sauce was a little sweeter than I prefer but that is a me thing. The fish pieces were big one piece was more then enough. The onion rings are good made with the same or very similar batter to the fish. The restaurant itself is on the older side, felt like it was from a different time. Bathroom floors were a little grimy but I think it may be an age of the building kind of thing. Toilet and sink were clean. Music selection brought back some nostalgia, late 90's early 2000 Christian soft rock, felt like I was back at bible camp. I would eat here again if I was in Lemon Grove but I would not go out of my way for another visit. We split a 2 fish plate and asked for onion rings instead of French fries and both got the smaller drinks it was about 15 per person.

If you are looking for good fish and chips, this is a place for you. And the fried zucchini is excellent too. The service is good and I'm assuming the couple there are the owners, they were very gracious when I goofed and dropped my glass of water on the table and floor. It's a small place, but it is definitely worth a try. Just remember this is not health food, it's excellent fried food.

Fine dining restaurant
Northern Italian restaurant
Nestled within a shopping center, Antica Trattoria stands out as a refined Italian dining destination in La Mesa, San Diego. This charming eatery is adorned with beautiful murals that create an inviting atmosphere for guests. Renowned for its exquisite handmade pasta, the restaurant features seasonal specialties like spiny lobster prepared in a spicy San Marzano tomato sauce enriched with cream.
Went to celebrate a birthday with family and friends. The food was excellent. Everyone ordered something different and all the dishes were delicious. The cocktails were very good as well. Our server Levi was very good and made our experience exceptional. I highly recommend Antica Trattoria for anyone wanting some authentic Italian cuisine.

Can one $3 order of supposed fresh baked bread lose you a couple of Stars? In my case yes! We went with most of the recommended items that Levi brought up. He was very convincing about his suggested recommendations. And they were great.....but I won't really talk about them....instead I want to focus on the first order of bread. The softest, warmest, earthiest tasting bread ever. We loved it so much that we ordered another one. We're not piggies! The bread order is small. Like a 6" sub size. The 2nd bread was terrible. It was like a rock. We tried to find a soft spot and even tried soaking it in the olive oil or sauce that came with our dishes but no luck. We disected it and kept looking for the soft spot but nope! When Levi (who was great by the way) asked "How was everything?" I was honest and explained that everything was fantastic! But that the 2nd bread was terrible. His answer to us was that he was going to let the baker in charge know about it. Well that just doesn't cut it. I got to thinking and the veal parmiggiana was soggy.

Had a great time here! The food was delicious—especially the penne with salmon and shrimp. The portion was big enough to split, so if you’re on a date, I definitely recommend sharing! The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and full of cool things to look at, making it a great spot for a romantic night out. Service was top-notch for the most part, though it got a little overwhelmed during the busy rush. Prices are on the higher side, so it’s more of a date-night or special occasion spot rather than a casual family dinner. Overall, a solid experience—good food, great ambiance, and friendly service. Four stars because of the price and slight wait during peak hours, but I’d still recommend checking it out!

Antica Trattoria Is truly an authentic Italian restaurant with wonderful food. My first visit to this hidden gem transported me back to Italy the moment I walked inside. The restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance is intimate and lively. Our waitress Filippo is a true professional and provided excellent advice and service. The food was amazing and the Saltimbocca alla Romana was as good as any I have enjoyed in Rome. Others at the table raved about their Cioppino and tender calamari steak. Torneremo presto!

My fiance and I came for dinner to try out their Restaurant Week deal. I had the Arancini, Saltimbocca, and the chocolate lava cake. My fiance had the mussels, brasato, and tiramisu. The flavors were on point. The service was great. I just wish the portions were a little bigger.

I recently visited Antica Trattoria for dinner and had an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, the cozy ambiance and charming decor instantly transported me to Italy. The lighting perfectly set the mood for a relaxed yet refined dining experience. The service was outstanding — our server was attentive, friendly, and made spot-on recommendations that enhanced our meal. When the food arrived, I was blown away by the beautiful presentation and even more impressed by the fresh, delicious flavors. Each dish was clearly prepared with care and high-quality ingredients. The drinks and wine selection were excellent, pairing perfectly with the meal. Overall, Antica Trattoria exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

While on vacation I tried Antica Trattoria. The beef braised beef short ribs were amazing. However, the fettuccine Alfredo was very bland. Our waitress was very personable and informative...she was great. I recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.
GECO — Google review
Enjoyed our visit here. The waitress was excellent, very sociable, attentive to our needs and they took us without a reservation. Background music and light ambience meant we didn’t have to shout to talk to each other. I had the lasagna which was really tasty, and a decent portion size. The waitress bought us a free ice cream for our anniversary. They had a sigh near the entrance which said they were short staffed and to be please be patient but we didn’t wait too long for service or food really. Would definitely return. Only criticism would be they don’t have a physical dessert menu and you have to ask, and I’m one of those who’s keen to know the price of things.

Poke bar
If you're on the hunt for a taste of Hawaii in San Diego, look no further than It's Raw Poke Shop. This charming family-owned establishment specializes in authentic Hawaiian dishes that radiate those warm aloha vibes. Just a stone's throw from the beach, you can indulge in their mouthwatering offerings like furikake salmon and spicy ahi poke, all made with the freshest ingredients.
If you want poke real hawaiian style this is the place to go. I order the poke plate with 2 scoops of rice. They give you furikaki that you can sprinkle on your rice if wish. You can sub a scoop of the rice for edamame or Mac salad. The mac salad is different. Thin noodles but still tasty. I tried the lau lau as well and it was very fresh. You can't eat here but you can take it to the beach and really feel like you're in Hawaii. The line moves fast and the staff are happy to answer any questions if you're not sure what to order.

Got here first thing when they opened and Freshest poke I ever tasted! I ordered the poke plate: furikake salmon and spicy ahi with scoop of rice and mac salad for $18! Well portioned and definitely worth the price and I can’t wait to try their other types of poke. Friendly and fast service. They even packed a little containers filled with furikake and a piece of coconut jelly. Takeout only, but the beach is just right down the street to enjoy your meal. Will be coming back :)

Love coming to this local shop in Ocean Beach. My favorite is their Furikake Salmon along with some rice. Hits the spot every time! There's no tables inside but my group always goes to Ocean Beach to take in the views and eat. A must try for the area.

Wow...the hype is REAL!!!! Had the Furikake Salmon, Spicy Ahi and Kimchi Tako......all of them were super fresh and full of flavor!! The rice and mac salad were perfect sides as well. If you're in San Diego, you need to try this place out!!! Enjoy!!

Best poke ever!! Their tuna is unlike any other tuna I’ve had before. Even better than the tuna I had in Japan. Very simple but so so delicious. Try the mac salad!
Deanna M — Google review
Anytime I’m in San Diego, this place is a must-stop! The poke is incredibly fresh, with authentic Hawaiian marinades that hit every time. Get the plate and furikake salmon and a drink for the side. It’s just a short walk to the beach, which makes it the perfect way to spend a chill afternoon. Be prepared to wait in line and have your order ready!
Hay D — Google review
Service was just ok but the food is really good. I’m not a fan of raw fish but the marinade of the poke was so good that I actually wanted my own plate! For the price, the portions of the poke should be a little bigger.
Alvina K — Google review
This wasn't bad. I think since I came later in the day the fish wasn't as cold as I would like it, but the flavors were pretty good and I recommend getting the pig and poke. Service was fine but there were only 2 of them so they likely were under a lot of pressure since the line was out the door. The place is cramped, no place to sit and it is kind of a sketch part of OB from the outside. I will want to try them again but go earlier in the day when everything is super fresh.

Mabel's Gone Fishing is a popular spot with a menu featuring Iberian Peninsula-inspired seafood dishes and snacks, perfect for sharing. Getting a reservation can be quite challenging, but the wait is worth it. The Spanish gin and tonic pairs well with Baja oysters and chorizo, while the delicately fried fish and clams in ham broth are highly recommended. The cozy atmosphere makes it ideal for a date night or casual cocktail outing. Reservations are strongly advised due to its popularity.
We had the most amazing dinner tonight! The food was absolutely outstanding—flavors that instantly transported us back to Barcelona. Every bite felt so authentic and fresh. On top of that, our server, Mari, was incredible—warm, attentive, and so fun to be around. She made us feel taken care of from start to finish and really elevated the whole experience. Between the atmosphere, the quality of the food, and Mari’s amazing service, this place is truly special. Also- and I can’t stress this enough… order the gimlet. You won’t regret it:) Can’t wait to come back!

Overall, we had a great experience! The food was delicious—on the pricier side, but the tapas-style portions made it easy to sample a variety of dishes. The Cabo Kampachi had a strong lemony flavor, and the shrimp in the Saffron Bomba rice packed a bold garlic punch. The customer service was excellent, and our waiter had such a great personality. We’ll definitely be going back!

Went for happy hour and had the oysters, almonds, olives, and bread. All were delicious but the olives and bread a definite reorder. They have a few types of G&Ts and all that we tried were tasty and the solstice spritz was so good, ordered it twice!! The staff was prompt, kind, and knowledgeable and overall atmosphere was chill Bar seating is definitely not the most comfortable so be ready for that. The bathroom was super cute!
Pavan K — Google review
Simply amazing. Food is outstanding. Service is top notch. Reservation recommended. Parking is tough because it's in North Park. Definitely pricier than most restaurants but it's worth it for the great experience. Serving size is solid considering it's Tapas style.

I came here expecting to love the food - and I did. The real standouts were the service provided by Danny and the rest of the staff and the incredible drinks he served. I got the trout dish and the mussel appetizer and I'd absolutely recommend both. I'll definitely stop by on future trips to this city.
Derek H — Google review
Best bites during my 4 day trip to SD. I am a seafood fiend and this place was recommended by a coworker who works raw bar if anyone knew seafood at work, it’s that guy. I opted for the 4 course tasting menu on my solo trip and it was worth every penny (85$ without drink pairing). First course starts with an array of “snacks”- a bowl of green (presumably castelverano) olives, smoked salmon rilettes, mussels escabeche with aioli and grilled sourdough, and last but not least a Serrano ham wrapped date. The date was my favorite bite - who knew a piece of ham and almond would catapult a humble dried date into the stratosphere of most memorable bites? This lone bite leaves any charcuterie board in the dust with how perfectly balanced the textures and flavors are. The saltiness of the ham is counteracted with the sweetness of the date, and an almond stuffed inside complements the date beautifully, balancing out the date’s sweetness and chewiness. If I knew I was going to love that date as much as I had, I wouldn’t have eaten it in one bite. In fact, I was tempted to order the dates a la carte on top of my tasting menu but I resisted because I know I’ll have to save room for the rest of my dishes. Course 2 was followed by a big eye tuna crudo with pickled rhubarb and favas as well as a gem salad. The crudo was delicious but would fall in line with any other decent crudo. That salad however was exceptionally delicious and beautiful- the chopped pistachios worked so beautifully bun this salad alongside nasturtium pedals and leaves with the perfect amount of dressing, also laced with pistachios. Despite being obviously basque focused, Mabel’s manages to weave in California not only in their vibes (surf punk tunes and that mission-style tile bathroom and outrageous royal blue toilet … hello!) but also food and drink whether it’s the pistachios in the salad or the house made Palo Alto bitters in their fino-sherry Negroni variant, “forget me not”. The main (3rd) course consisted of baked halibut with heirloom carrot ribbons, snap peas, and a light citrusy sauce accompanied by a side of their patatas bravas y romanesco. The halibut was good but my least favorite - it was super fresh, and I particularly enjoyed the snap peas, but i thought it paled in comparison to the aforementioned salad and date. I don’t really care for baked mild white fish across the board because its comparatively bland to other preparations especially in a city like San Diego where there is no shortage of delicious, fresh fish in the form of poke and sushi. The romesco sauce was delicious and the potatoes were beautifully seasoned and plated. I wished they used a large, starchier potato over the whole yellow fingerlings in the patatas; despite being deep-fried it didn’t have that nice crunch and soft interior one comes to expect from papas bravas. I usually destroy potatoes but I managed to pack this up for leftovers. The Albariño arinto wine paired beautifully with the fish, nevertheless. The final (dessert) course consisted of basque cheesecake with a touch of caramel. This cheesecake was beautifully executed and the caramel had the perfect texture and sweetness. Overall, fantastic time, highly recommended.

This restaurant is super hyped up so we were kind of let down after dinner. We had the house bread, carpaccio, mussels, and paella. Carpaccio was flavorful and delicious. Paella was dry and boring, mussels were also very uninteresting. Perhaps it would've gone better if we went in a large group and were able to sample more items, but we did order the items recommended by our server who was very friendly and attentive. All things considered-probably would not return given the cost to satisfaction ratio.
Allison — Google review
Mabel’s is a great time, their menu had many fun creations that were delightful to split among a small group. My favorite dish here was the grilled octopus, not only are these a great portion they have the perfect char and bite and is one of my favorite preparations of the dish to date.

Nico’s Fish Market is a beloved spot for seafood enthusiasts, offering fresh fish caught by Nico himself or local fishermen. The menu features a variety of delectable options such as poke, fish tacos, plates, and burritos that are bursting with flavor. Customers rave about the freshness of the fish and the delightful combination of ingredients in each dish.
Outstanding Experience at Nico’s Fish Market! This is hands down the craziest and most amazing seafood spot I’ve ever been to. If you’re in San Diego, you absolutely must check this place out! The fish is as fresh as it gets—straight from the sea to your plate. You can literally taste the difference. I had the Ono fish, shrimp, half-shell oysters, and halibut, and every single bite was phenomenal. The flavors were bold, clean, and clearly crafted with care and fresh local ingredients. The atmosphere is vibrant and right on the waterfront, and the staff made me feel right at home. I’ve attached a few photos from my visit so you can see for yourself just how incredible the food looks—and trust me, it tastes even better! This place isn’t just a meal, it’s an experience. Nico’s Fish Market sets the bar high. Fresh. Local. Unforgettable.

Great place for some fresh fish foodies. Between the freshly caught salmon sandwich and the calamari steak strips, I was one happy camper. Their chips and guacamole were so good too! The ceveiche was equally fresh, zesty, and deliciously paired with the guacamole and chips. Another must try in the area.
Taylor — Google review
A constant line and the owner walking in fisherman’s boots are definitely a sign of this place being the right choice to eat some seafood and fish. I went for an ahi tuna salad and a swordfish sandwich with lemon-garlic sauce. Both were amazing. The tuna meat was so tender and delicious, but the swordfish sandwich stole the show as it was simply exceptional. They know how to grill fish (it was very juicy, which isn’t always the case as non-pros overcook it and it is too dry), together with some veggies, that homemade lemon-garlic sauce, and a toasted bread it was simply a heavenly taste. 😋 Their spicy sauce was also spot on + no need to buy drinks as there is free lemon water, which leaves more money to be spent on fish 🐠

Seriously memorable experience. Great personable service, beautiful presentation, and truly delicious fresh fish. The poke bowl had some am I g sauces and sesame seeds, also had a few slices of fresh ginger which paired so well with the dish. The salmon burrito was freshly made and warm. The inside was very nice and clean. The menu was simple to understand. The concept of having fresh fish on display in the front as you order, getting to point and pick out which fish you want is fantastic. Very excited to come back.

Fresh choice seafood in a variety of plate types. El Chinesca and calamari steak were prepared perfectly each with a symphony of flavors. Well designed space always has a line out the door for good reason. Premium price, super premium product
Sean J — Google review
This place exceeds expectations. First off, the location is pristine and zero fishy smell. Everything there is spotless. The fish is gorgeous in the case for the fresh catch. We had the Ono blackened on a sandwich and it changed my life, incredible flavor, so perfectly cooked, and the most memorable fish sandwich I’ve ever had. I like to think I’m an adventurous eater. The fish was so fresh, I think you could probably feed it to your mom that doesn’t eat fish — that good. And the bread is so fluffy with a perfect golden brown toasted end, delicious. The burrito with the breaded snapper was magical, don’t even waste your time going anywhere else. Finally, the gentleman that helped us was so chill and helpful. You can tell everyone that works there takes pride in their work. 10/10 would go here again, may even plan a trip back with this place specifically in mind!

a word of caution for the hungry: be prepared to wait. Our journey from the front door to finally getting our food took nearly an hour, and we saw the same story unfolding around us. Many people arrived with bright smiles that slowly faded into "hanger," a common side effect of the long wait. We also had to clean our own table because the staff behind the counter have to prepare the dish and also doing the orders. Staff are tired and unfriendly. But here's the good news: the food itself lives up to the hype. The poke bowls were fresh, flavorful, and wonderfully tasty. The quality of the fish and the vibrant mix of ingredients made the entire meal a genuinely delicious experience.

El Viejon Seafood is a must-visit spot with fast service and limited seating. The food is incredibly fresh and delicious, with generous portions that won't disappoint. The El Viejon Seafood Tower is a standout dish, offering a delectable variety of seafood that's more than enough for two people. Even non-seafood lovers are impressed by the quality here. The crispy El Viejon Fries and other dishes like octopus plates and pork belly tacos are equally delightful.
Came in for some seafood. All was tasty and great service. The speciality tacos were great and the seafood tower was a lot of food.

Came here for the food. But the vibes took it to another level. beer and tacos and reggaeton music! Head boppin while in line! Food was great! Could have a wait because they won’t serve you unless there is a table available. Habanero sauce was excellent! Cant go wrong with seafood on a Sunday night!

This little hole in the wall restaurant sells amazing food. We had birria tacos 🌮 the serve them with broth on the side. My husband ordered La Torre he loved it. It is pretty big for two people. The parking lot is small so be ready to wait a little.

Came here on a whim for a late night snack. We wanted to get the seafood tower but the price has gone up to $45 which doesn’t make sense for just the two us so we got the ceviche ($17) which was equally delicious. At 7pm, they have tacos and techno menu. The music changed from hip hop to techno. We ordered Al pastor, birria and lengua. Meats were soft, tender and flavorful. They serve breakfast items until noon and have Taco Tuesday specials. I would come more often but parking is such a pain in the free lot. You’ll have to go to the paid parking structure and I recommend parking on the top outdoor level where it’s more spacious.

Laura M — Google review
I’m giving this restaurant a well deserved five stars for an incredible dining experience last Sunday night! We arrived around 8 PM, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting with just the right amount of buzz, perfect for a cozy evening out. The place wasn’t overly crowded which made it easy to settle in and enjoy the meal without feeling rushed. For my first course I decided to try ceviche for the first time, and it was an absolute revelation. The dish was bursting with bright tangy flavors, perfectly balanced with a fresh zesty kick that danced on my taste buds. The seafood was impeccably fresh and the citrusy marinade had just the right amount of acidity to make every bite refreshing and memorable. It was such a delightful introduction to ceviche and I’m already looking forward to having it again! Then came the seafood tacos and let me tell you, these were some of the most elite tacos I’ve ever had. I ordered three different ones: a shrimp taco, an octopus taco, and one that combined both. Each was a masterpiece in its own right. The shrimp taco was plump and juicy with a subtle sweetness that paired beautifully with the vibrant toppings, fresh cilantro, a squeeze of lime, and a creamy sauce that tied it all together. The octopus taco was a standout with tender perfectly cooked octopus that had a slight char and a smoky depth I couldn’t get enough of. The combo taco was the best of both worlds blending the textures and flavors in a way that felt indulgent yet balanced. The tortillas were soft, warm, and just sturdy enough to hold all the generous fillings without falling apart. I ended up eating way more than I planned because every bite was so flavorful and satisfying. This place is a gem and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone craving fresh bold seafood dishes!

Limited parking outside the restaurant but cars do move in and out quickly enough. Not many tables in the restaurant but there’s some tables outside the restaurant too. The seafood tacos are really good and the octopus is soft and flavorful. Drinks are good too.

I'm not a big seafoody, but I love this place, says alot. Me and wife ordered El viejon Fries came out very crispy with very light but tasty batter. It had smoked fish, shrimp, pork belly! It may have had scallops too, but it was out of this world. Wife also ordered an octopus plate, she said it taste good, along the pork belly taco, fish taco and cheese birria nachos. Yeah, over ordered! I think this is officially my 3 top Mexican restaurant/ shop in SD being here for 40+ years. My 2 kids had side of fries, demolished it and they are picky. When we left, manager ask how was food, we are coming back soon (=.

After new management, this place is smell so bad that worst than Asian fish market. The fish is not fresh any more. Over price for stinky and rotten fish, and unhealthy seafood shopping place. Will never come again.

This is my over-the-top place to go when I'm making something for a special occasion. And, it's so good that I've become very good at finding a way to make any seafood-related meal "special". My sister is a professional chef, and turned me on to this place. In one sense, it's a nice fish market with a few dozen fresh selections and a nice mix of all the things you'd need to make a nice meal. But, in the important sense, the fish is fresh and delicious. As in the kind of delicious that you only get from fresh and delicious fish. Like seriously delicious. *Every* time I've used Catalina's seafood someone has commented on the fish and how its exceptional (not my cooking grrrr but the fish(said in fun sarcasm)) The staff is always solidly nice and courteous, and answered any question I've had. It's worth noting that this started with the on-line gift certificate my sister gave me. They painlessly converted it to a gift card, and I've used their seafood a few times over several dinner/appetizers. So, to summarize, I couldn't recommend Catalina's enough; they're as 5 star as it gets.

I’m surprised there are not a lot of people know this place. I mean, here is already pretty popular, but not as good as it should be. When I recommend Catalina Offshore on Little Red Book, it got over 2500 views in one day. People love to know where to buy the best seafood in San Diego, not only limited in supermarkets and Farmers markets. My husband and I always come here for fresh fishes, shellfish and uni! Yes I love Uni, here has the best price for the most fresh Uni. And we also brought some sashimi back, they are amazing too!

This is a hidden seafood market gem. I think it is one of the best seafood markets in San Diego because of the high quality and freshness of the seafood. I LOVE to buy the live crabs and do a cajun crab boil! They always have random but delicious spices and sauces that compliment the fresh fish, shrimp, scallops, more fish. They also have useful tools like oyster shuckers, claw crackers and other useful seafood tools. They also do discounts on bulk orders. The staff is super friendly. It's an all around good time when I take my 7 year old! Thank you everyone at Catalina offshore seafood market, see you soon!

The chef's dedication to perfection is evident in every bite, and the friendly service adds to the overall experience. The menu features a variety of mouthwatering options, including coconut shrimp, swordfish tacos, and fish and chips.
The best fish tacos in San Diego. Their renditions are slightly elevated than the average and they are absolutely delicious. The swordfish taco was meaty, well-seasoned, and balanced with a fresh creamy slaw. Their mushroom and manchego taco was also incredible. Every taco is served on a thick, tasty corn tortilla. The corn flavor is not overpowering and compliments the various fillings well. The dining area is clean and simple, though not particularly spacious. Expect to be seated near some other people, but that’s okay - everyone was friendly!

Alright so I've driven by this place multiple times and there is ALWAYS a line. So today my daughter and I got there before they opened which was at Noon. We got in line 5 minutes before opening and we were #7&8 in line. The hostess/waitress was very nice and explained the menu since it was our first time. We ordered the Jarritos, and their Hibiscus Sweet Tea . The Smoked Fish Dip was FIRE 🔥🔥it came with some spice. It was SUPER fresh and paired with the Ritz crackers was PERFECTION! Now I ordered the Estilo Baja. It was OUTSTANDING. That chipotle aioli was WONDER. It definitely packs some heat. My daughter ordered the Fish and Chips. Their version is a little different than most cause it was like a potato salad. Definitely different, but FRESH and tasty. Overall 10/10 would definitely return when they open so I don't have to wait in line long. They do not take to go orders so the only way to enjoy this freshness is to wait in line. As we were leaving the line was down the block. Try them out. You won't be disappointed.

The tacos were delicious but the fish dip is the standout!!! Fun, quick service and casual space, including outdoor seating with optimized people watching. Highly recommend visiting and bringing a friend so you can try multiple tacos. Definitely order the fish dip if they have it!!!

A quaint little restaurant with patio seats that permit people watching. The coconut shrimp taco was 🔥 and the Jamaica iced tea to top it off was perfect. Would recommend for lunch or a quick snack, not dinner.

The shrimp taco was a die for! And the homemade tortillas were just the icing on the cake!!! I wish they sold them separately so we could take them home 🙈 Here’s a tip. We drove by on the weekend and there was a line every time, but when we came during the week during the day, we got to walk right in and sit down. Obviously, only some people have time to do that, but I do believe that even if you do have to wait, it’s worth it.
Gretchen W — Google review
The best fish tacos and margaritas we had from our long list of taco places recommended by friends. Fish was incredibly fresh and cooked properly. Tortillas were homemade and the slaw used on each taco was unique and complimented the fish well Drinks were made to perfection. Cucumber margaritas was our favorite. Service was warm and friendly despite a line out the door both times. Even if you have to wait to get a table, it’s well worth the wait.

31Thirtyone by Deckman's is a new American restaurant located at 3131 University Ave. in San Diego, California. It offers a delightful dining experience with a focus on fresh ingredients and farm-to-table methods. The menu features a variety of options including quail, tomatoes/urchin, abalone low tide soup, and SDC Harvest salad. Guests can also enjoy a selection of wines to complement their meal.
Top 20 lifetime meal. Did HH on the rooftop first. We did oysters and tartar. Molly and Grant, the bartenders were fun and attentive. We then moved to the chef's counter, and things went next level. Between Jenny, the Sommelier, and Chef Drew Deckman, the food and wine were some of the best in my life.

My husband and I have been fortunate to enjoy Deckman’s restaurant in Valle de Guadalupe where the setting looks like you could be in Tuscany and the food and service is exceptional. I was treated for my birthday to his new restaurant here in SD. I was expecting for the food to be enjoyable but it was amazing. It was a pleasant surprise to taste smokiness in some of his dishes since his restaurant in Valle is mostly cooked outside on the grill. The restaurant is beautiful… tastefully decorated…. had a similar vibe to restaurants in Barcelona. Thank you Mr. Deckman for opening up a place here in San Diego. May you continue to have great success. Enjoyed my birthday dinner. Gracias

3131 Restaurant absolutely deserves all 5 stars. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was classy yet relaxed — the perfect spot to unwind after a long day. The happy hour here is hands-down the best in San Diego! The drinks were perfectly crafted, and the appetizers were not only delicious but beautifully presented. Special shoutout to Grant, the bartender, who was phenomenal! He made amazing cocktails, had great recommendations, and his friendly personality really made the whole experience even better. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. Every detail, from the ambiance to the flavors, showed how much care they put into their guest experience. If you’re looking for amazing food, great value, and a stylish spot to enjoy happy hour — 3131 is the place to be. Can’t wait to come back again soon!

Spectacular dinner at 31, out of this world. We started on the rooftop patio with wonderful tiling and marble and had the $1 oysters and some great cocktails and mocktails. We then moved to the beautiful dining area with a chef counter where you can see the chefs cooking. We ordered the set menu and had the delicious anchovies, sourdough bread, yellowtail crudo, winter harvest, Hokkaido scallop, pumpkin triangolli, striped bass, flatiron steak, strawberry dessert, carrot cake, and chocolate baked mousse. Incredible. The desserts were fantastic way to end the meal. The service was great, very knowledgeable on the sourcing, friendly, and on top of things. Highly recommend!

An Unforgettable Dining Experience – So Good We Came Back the Next Day We stumbled upon this gem and were so blown away that we came back the very next night. From start to finish, everything about this place is next level. First off, the service is the top notch. None of that forced friendliness you sometimes get—everyone we encountered was warm, attentive, and genuinely seemed happy to be there. Special shoutouts to Kenzie and Tyler on our first night, and Owen and Molly on night two. Each one brought their own personality to the table (literally), and their attention to detail—especially around allergies—was impeccable. It’s rare to feel that taken care of without having to explain yourself twice. The cocktails? Unreal. The Snap Dragon and Fairy Duster were both delicious. But the star surprise of the evening was the orange olive oil paired with raw oysters—a combination that sounds simple but is pure magic (sorry no pics, I eat before the camera 😂). Scallops and tuna crudo were additional highlights. If you can, make it to their rooftop happy hour-and-a-half—it’s worth planning your evening around. Amazing views, great energy, and perfect small bites to kick things off. Speaking of food, the complimentary small appetizer that come out before your starters were different each night and just as delicious. Big kudos to the kitchen for that extra touch. This place hits that rare sweet spot: elevated without being pretentious, polished without losing personality. Already counting down the days until we can come back to San Diego and visit again.

We had an unforgettable experience! It was all thanks to the unbeatable service, exceptional cocktails, and one of the best oyster happy hours in town. From the moment we sat down, Molly and Grant made us feel like VIPs—attentive, genuine, and incredibly knowledgeable about both the menu and drink pairings. The oysters were fresh, briny perfection—served ice-cold with just the right accompaniments. Whether you're an oyster connoisseur or just curious, their happy hour is a must-try. Every tray came out fast and flawlessly presented, and Molly’s enthusiasm about the different varieties made the experience even more enjoyable. Then there were the cocktails. Grant is a wizard behind the bar—each drink was a masterclass in balance and creativity. The flavors were bold but smooth, and he was more than happy to craft recommendations based on our preferences. It felt like each glass was tailored just for us. Service like this is rare. Molly and Grant didn’t just serve—they elevated the entire night. They brought warmth, personality, and professionalism that made 31Thirty stand out in a sea of forgettable spots. Bottom line: This spot is a gem, and with Molly and Grant at the helm, it's nothing short of stellar. We’ll definitely be back—and bringing friends.

We had such an amazing meal at Thirty One 31! The staff and service were top-notch, and Chef Drew came by after the rush, he’s an incredible chef and also such a humble, down-to-earth guy. The food was incredibly fresh and all in season, which was reflected in every dish! We started a number of starters , oysters, tuna with watermelon, tomatoes & mackerel, and the scallops. They were all excellent ! For mains, we enjoyed the risotto & the black cod was perfectly cooked with great flavor, and the desserts were the perfect finish.❤️ Molly, the bar manager, gave us fantastic cocktail recommendations, and mixes amazing drinks! Everything about the evening was thoughtful & delicious. We’ll definitely be back!

My husband and I had a fantastic experience going out to dinner at 3131; the food, drinks, and atmosphere are all reasons alone to come here, but... our night was exceptional in huge part thanks to Mollie behind the bar. First and most obvious: she is incredibly skilled at her craft and made some of the best cocktails I've ever had. But also, she had great recommendations from the food menu and wine list, and her kind, warm, genuine personality makes you feel like an old friend. Her crazy talent and contagious energy made our night! Thanks Mollie, we'll be back to see you soon!!

If you're on the lookout for a delightful dining experience, "Fish With You |Spicy & Sour Fish Soup" is a must-visit spot that recently opened its doors. This fast-casual eatery specializes in an enticing menu featuring fish, beef, and spicy mix bowls. The standout dish is undoubtedly the Green Pepper Sauerkraut Fish, which boasts tender black fish infused with a perfect balance of spice and tanginess—truly a flavor explosion!
I had a lovely dinner at this restaurant! The food was quite good — flavorful and well-prepared. The finish on the dish was especially impressive; the meat was tender and cooked just right. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was attentive without being intrusive.
Yuzhe W — Google review
The dishes came out quickly and flavors were as expected, very authentic and delicious. Although portion size looked big from the size of the bowl, the actual content of the meat/ fish was was not very much. Individual size is really meant for 1 person. Ordered signature fish and super beef. The fish was sliced very thin and tender, lots of noodles and veggies in the dishes (on the bottom of the protein padding the bowl). The beef dish had dried bean curd and enoki mushrooms in it which was nice and soup base was different than the fish. The restaurant was clean and quite when we went for lunch on weekday. Plenty of parking.

I ordered a single portion of pickled fish with mustard greens and a single portion of spicy blood tofu stew in chili oil—perfect for two people. The dishes arrived quickly, were full of flavor, and went really well with rice. I also got a grilled squid, though unfortunately the size was quite small and I wish it were bigger. The restaurant's decor is crisp and clean, and the staff were warm and attentive. Overall, it offered good value for the price!
Momo Z — Google review
Wanted to try this since it was on an Eater San Diego list. Employee was helpful, explained the menu to me. The fish soup was good, its like sinigang but with mala flavoring. The rice was terrible though, it was dry and stale like it was from the day before. The shrimp balls with cheese were pretty good. The pork was flavorless even with the spicy powder on top, it was also very tough. Id probably only go back for the soup.
Ryan D — Google review
We ordered the crispy pork, brown sugar rice cakes, and scallion and pickled mustard soup with basa fish with lettuce stem and napa cabbage as the side topping. Food was very fresh, establishment is clean, and service was great and quick. We ordered the small size soup and it was enough for two people. The broth was very flavorful and fish soft and delicious. Will definitely be coming back! Plenty of parking at 3 pm on a Saturday, rare for this area.
Lissa W — Google review
A new location by a very large chain restaurant selling fish and beef soups at reasonable prices. Once you are seated, they bring you room-temperature water without a paper menu. You use the QR code to order from the fairly limited choices. Most are between $15 to $20 a person, with free steamed rice. The green Sichuan pepper and cuancai (sour preserved veggie) saba fish soup was not hot but plenty numbing. The fish was tender and good. The tomato saba fish soup was a little too sweet but again the fish was good. The tomato beef soup was slightly more sour and came with thinly sliced fatty beef similar to Chinese hotpot’s. The portions were good, definitely enough for an adult, but the bowels looked humongous because they had a very tall bottom that take away much of the volume. I would have given them 4 stars instead of 3, given the overall experience. However, I really feel that it’s unfair to use a free soda to buy people’s 5 star ratings.
Chen D — Google review
We love fishes, our favorite is actually the traditional Chinese spicy sour pickled fish fillets. While flavor wise Fish with you is not ranked top in our list, combing with the price it offers, it definitely worth a try.
Liu D — Google review
We had the classic sour fish and fried pork. The soup was quite sour. The fish was tender but the fried pork tasted pretty pre-cooked. Not that fresh. Overall, it is worth trying.

Supernatural Sea to Sandwich is a unique seafood restaurant that offers creative and delicious dishes with an amazing nautical theme. The menu includes items like scallop bacon chowder and spicy garlic shrimp, as well as Korean BBQ with kimchee. You can also order to go, though the restaurant still lacks dine-in service.
Fries and bread are awesome. Aphrodite is fantastic for a cheese craving. I personally like Siren even better. The bread is stuffed with shrimps and tomato. A little bit sour and sweet flavors from tomatoes perfectly balance shrimps and the toast. Not dry but not too greasy.

I’m so stoked that Supernatural Sandwiches opened up in Little Italy!! Their food is consistently amazing. I think I’ve tried everything on their menu. Had The Kraken as a salad (it’s New Years resolutions time, after all..) and their delicious thick fries and enjoyed every bite. Bonus: every member of their staff was so friendly and helpful. It’s an “order at the counter, take a number and get food delivered” type of place, so I never expect much from staff at these places, but at Supernatural everyone was super friendly. Answered questions while we ordered, asked if we needed anything a few times while we ate, noticed I needed more ketchup and just brought it over, cleared dirty plates, said “bye! Come back soon!” when we left. All around great experience and I’m excited that they are close to my office now 🙌🏽

Nice spot. Got a lot of solid options. They all looked great. Got some spicy tuna🐟 sandwich 🥪thing and I think there was grilled cheese 🧀on it? Not sure but damn was it tasty. They also have a cute little outside-facing barstool thing that you can sit on and I love that. It also came with these interesting chips that I usually eat with Peking duck at Asian restaurants LOL🤨. But overall cute nice relaxing yummilicious place!

Amazing food! Everything we expected and more. Me and my wife were visiting from Canada and are so glad we tried this place. The Lobster roll was fantastic and they came with some of the best fries I have had.

Absolutely delicious! The bread is perfectly toasted and crunchy on the outsides while soft in the middle. My girlfriend had the garlic shrimp sammich and I had the shrimp and bacon grilled cheese, very flavorful and a load of tasty cheese on mine! The picture is my girlfriend's garlic shrimp.

Great place, still no dine in due to COVID but you can order to go. I got the Chimera sandwich and Garlic noodles. Both delicious. The side order of garlic noodles is enough for two people just a heads up.

Great menu. Great sandwich choices. I got the Cthulhu sandwich and it had a surprisingly large amount of lobster on it. Definitely recommend coming in for happy hour.

Good but a little expensive (understandable for seafood) place in Little Italy. Mellow and casual and may not last too long in this high-rent area.
