Oscars Mexican Seafood is a popular chain of Mexican seafood restaurants, with its first location opening in Pacific Beach in 2011. Despite being modestly billed as a casual, local shop, it has consistently been listed as one of the best Mexican restaurants in San Diego. The Ensenada-style battered fish taco is a local favorite and even caught the attention of chef Andrew Zimmern.
I thought this place was great. We started with the ceviche which was awesome. They only had shrimp so we tried that. 5/5 I ordered the skirt steak, surf and turf and smoked fish tacos. My fav was the surf and turf. All were good but the surf and turf was exceptional. The smoked fish was unique and good but not something I’d order regularly. 5/5 Atmosphere was counter service with outdoor dining 3/5

A sincerly nice joint for a great bite of seafood. It's lovely food, made with love, with fresh in-house made salsas and agua frescas. I will say due to its popularity and the small size of the actual resteraunt, it *does* get super crowded at peak eating times. But what sets this place apart from other wonderful eateries? Veronica. She's almost always the cashier you speak to at the register to order your meal, and she's a literal angel. She's sweet, kind, and sp patient. She'll call you "sweetie" or "mija/mijo" and she means it. She's happy to tell you all about the menu items, and never skimps on twlling you how *she* likes it (spoiler alert: she's always right, imho). So come to Oscar's for the amazing mariscos (the fisherman's torta is INSANE) but stay for mama Veronica, because she's the heart and soul of this place. ❤️

Oscar’s is easily one of my favorite spots for Mexican seafood in San Diego. The fish tacos are next-level—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Our favorites are the especial, octopus, battered shrimp, and grilled spicy shrimp taco. Don't forget to use their freshly made sauces in the fridge along with an assortment of other hot sauces. Their fish stew is also surprisingly fresh and savory. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the casual vibe makes it the perfect stop whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or hanging with friends. This location has inside seating and easier parking since it's located in a strip mall. A must stop it you're in the SD area.

Great service. Was given a cup of their seafood stew while we were deciding on what to order. Very hearty seafood stew with a chicken base. The taco especial was particularly great. Surf n tuf, which is usually my go to at taco shops was a little disappointing. I guess it goes to say that they are a seafood establishment and each and every seafood-based dish was fantastic
Joon L — Google review
Great casual Mexican seafood spot. Authentic. Set up is great for take out, but enough tables for around 20. They offered fish soup samples, which had excellent broth and plenty of meat and vegetables. The grilled octopus taco was balanced and substantial. Others in our party enjoyed fried fish and smoked fish tacos.
Douglas M — Google review
Best seafood tacos I ever had outside of Mexico. Staff members were very kind courteous and generous. Go straight for the shrimp or fish or shrimp+fish tacos. Don’t bother with the ceviche, taco was far better. And the horchata drink! That was amazing!
Shams R — Google review
The octopus taco was perfectly cooked and the tuna ceviche was fresh. Update: Revisited and tried the fish/shrimp ceviche. It was zesty and fresh. The only knock is that they didn’t include the extra tostada, but charged me for it
Kevin T — Google review
This was the first place I ate at after arriving in San Diego for the first time. The lady behind the counter was so sweet and helpful, as were the other members of the staff. The torta I had didn't hold back in size and taste, and every scoop of the shrimp cerviche was packed with flavour and zest.

The restaurant is known for its variety of fresh fish options including sea bass, wahoo, mahi mahi, ahi tuna and scallops used in dishes like cioppino and halibut sandwich.
Love this place!! Every time I visit San Diego, I have to go to this Restaurant. It was an amazing experience from start to finish. The seafood was absolutely fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. One dish we didn’t like was Clam Chowder, it was too salty. The service was good. The staff was attentive and friendly.

My family grabbed lunch here after landing at the airport. It was less than 10 minutes from the airport. Parking space was limited but we were able to find paid street parking right in front of the restaurant. It’s a self-service restaurant. You order at the counter and they will bring out food for you. A server brought us two high chairs and she was very friendly. Food came out in about 10 minutes. I highly recommend their special, award winning Taco. At a first bite, it tasted rich and fresh. Shrimp in the taco was big and juicy. Clam chouder soup was pretty good too. We ordered the soup in a bread bowl. The bread bowl had garlic taste and it went well with the soup. Lastly, we ordered fish n chips. Fish was very fresh but batter was too thick. It came out with waffle fries, which were very crispy. Overall, it was a great experience to start my San Diego trip. I would recommend this place to anyone and will come back for their taco!

Came here to try the award winning Tack Taco, and it was worth it. The lineup was long, waited around 45 minutes to order and get a table. The track taco was the biggest, tastiest, messiest, and most incredible taco I have ever had. All of the seafood is super fresh and delicious. The staff are very friendly and appoint you a table while waiting in line. There is lots of street parking nearby for free.
Shawn S — Google review
Long line, even after peak lunch hours, but worth the wait. The calamari, shrimp, salmon were very fresh and flavorful. Our favorites were the calamari salad with chipotle seasoning, and salmon sandwich. The tacos were above average, but nothing memorable. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely come back. All the staff were friendly and welcoming!
Janet L — Google review
The food was really delicious and well worth the lengthy line. We loved everything we ordered. Once you pay and get your food, your pretty much on your own. They are so busy that they don't have much time to follow up on already seated customers or refill your beverage. I would recommend this place for the awesome food, just be prepared to wait for it.
KJ H — Google review
Fresh Seafood and Fair Prices, but Limited Parking We stopped by Bluewater Seafood while attending a conference in San Diego. Once seated, service was quick and the food came out fresh. I especially enjoyed the tender calamari. My husband tried the seafood soup, which was okay but not something he’d order again, and the tuna poke was tasty but served in a smaller portion compared to other places. Prices were fair, the restaurant was lively and clearly popular, which made parking a real hassle—we had to circle a few times to find a spot.
Bettina C — Google review
Treated myself to a large meal. Scallops with the accompanying salad and then an ahi tuna sandwich. All of it was excellent. The wasabi sesame seed crust on the tuna was amazing.
Kirk D — Google review
Exception service. Excellent food. We arrived at 510. Minimal wait 5 min. Counter service and they bring the food to your table. By 530 the line was out the door. Totally worth the wait. Appetizers came out quick and were hot. Shrimp cocktail was nicely chilled with a great cocktail sauce. Great dinner.

Restaurant
The Taco Stand is a vibrant and popular fast-food style eatery known for its delicious tacos, burritos, and churros. With its retro vibe and colorful shop, it has become a beloved local favorite in La Jolla. The restaurant prides itself on serving Mexico City-style tacos with fresh blue corn handmade tortillas, crispy melted cheese, and scratch salsas. It has gained nationwide popularity and recognition for its delectable offerings.
Hands down the best fish taco in San Diego! Line was long but it moved pretty fast. Carne Asada taco was awesome. Perfectly seared chunky meat and so smoky and tasty. Salsa bar had different kinds of salsa and condiments. Hard to grab a seat and need to be little aggressive to secure seats since they are busy all the time. There are few tables and counter space and some outdoor seating. Definitely one of the best taco spot in west coast. Don’t miss it!
Amy K — Google review
We often stop by The Taco Stand after a walk or a swim in the ocean to grab some delicious tacos. I wasn’t really a fan of this type of food before — probably because I hadn’t tried anything that truly impressed me. But this place changed my mind. It’s definitely popular, and there are usually long lines — but that just means it’s worth it. The food is genuinely good. My favorites are the shrimp and chicken tacos — super flavorful and satisfying. There’s something for everyone here, whether you want to sit and eat or grab your food to go and enjoy it while walking. I really like this location. I’ve tried The Taco Stand in other places, but so far, this one is my favorite. Highly recommend!
Iryna Y — Google review
Stellar service. Scrumptious tacos. The beef taco blew my mind, high quality meat and perfectly seasoned with a generous scoop of fresh guacamole. The house made salsas here are incredible as well.

Vibe: 6.5/10 - cool vibe, but note there is limited seating and seemingly no bathroom Service: 8/10 Value: 8/10 - burritos are the best value items here!! Burritos range from ~$10-12, while tacos are ~$4-6 each. Pescado taco: 7.75/10 Pescado burrito: 9/10 - very filling, yet lighter than the al pastor burrito Al pastor burrito: 9/10 Overall: 8.04/10 (4.02/5) [To clarify our review system: 10 = we’ll never have anything else as good as this in our lives (we use 10 very sparingly!) 9 = extraordinary 8 = great 7 = above average 6 = average Anything below 6 is being critical]
Alexis C — Google review
Heard good things and decided to check it out- it was great! I got the burrito Al pastor, which is a filling burrito! We also got an order of churros which were perfect and a great price. Others got burrito carne asada, and fish taco and everyone said they were great. Make sure to get sauces while you wait for your food, I loved the salsa cilantro sauce and pickled onions.
Amy T — Google review
For $450 we fed 30 people. We got a pan of carne asada, chicken, and al pastor. The al pastor was everyone's favorite! They served it with some pineapple slices. We also got a number of sauces and salsas that were flavorful and really rounded out the whole taco bar experience. So happy to try a local spot and it did not disappoint. It was sooo busy with a line out the door though, so I'm glad we got to order on advance!
Rachel M — Google review
Love this place! The tacos are hands down delicious. The tortillas are made fresh. I love their mushroom and grilled fish taco. Their carne asada taco is also a family favorite. They make fresh churros to order. They also have guacamole and chips. Their tacos are delicious! This location close to the beach and you can see the ocean.
Joanne S — Google review
Stood in line for 45 minutes in the blazing sun. When saw "Hecho a Mano" it gave hope it was going to be great quality. Ordered Napales tacos, grilled fish tacos and spicy shrimp taco's, unfortunately the taste wasn't in par. The napales were not cooked, they were cut up and just put into the taco's which is heavy on the digestion; the grilled fish wasn't fish, but rather like a fish paste of some kind and the made by hand - well what was made by hand? The Taco's were filled, the service was great, just the taste was plain :( the salsa stand was a bit crowded and salsa didn't have flavor I don't know why this place didn't have flavor :(, everything else was great ! :). Will not stand in line again for this bland food.

TJ Oyster Bar is a popular spot with three locations known for its refined Mexican-influenced seafood dishes and beer. The rustic-chic space offers a vibrant turquoise-and-sand ambiance. Specializing in seafood, particularly raw and citrus-marinated options, the menu features Baja-style ceviches, aguachiles, and cocktail-style offerings.
I had an absolutely wonderful time at this restaurant. The seafood dishes were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The vibrant Mexican flavors complemented the seafood perfectly, making each bite a delight. The ambiance was lively and inviting, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. A special thanks to Oscar, who was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The staff overall was very welcoming and professional. I highly recommend this place to anyone craving authentic Mexican seafood — it’s a true gem! I can't wait to visit again.

He used to come here all the time food still the same portions are a little bit smaller. The tostadas used to be a little bigger on average you’re gonna pay about 5 to 7 dollars for a ceviche fish or shrimp tostada which I ordered all three parking can be tight. There’s lots of parking for handicap. You just have to get there early on Friday and Saturday before the crowd hits up is probably a place for about 12 people to sit inside the restaurant and two tables outside
Jeff S — Google review
Loved this place! The tacos were fresh and full of flavor, and the cinnamon rice drink was amazing. Everyone was so kind and helpful — great vibes all around!

4⭐️ These fish tacos were AMAZING. If I lived close still, I would be a regular here. Not a lot of seating at all, and we did have to wait because there were quite a few people there. I wish I had time to go back and try more. I would definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

Service was horrible ! We sat right down but then we wernt acknowledged at all for a while . Server continued to walk by no one stopped to introduce themselves or offer us water or to see if we had questions abkut the menu . Then i got the attention of a lady as she saw the frustration in my face as me and my daughter just sat there with blank stares. She comes over and says i see you looking around has anyone helped you i said no but could we at least have some water. At this point I wanted to leave but my daughter wanted to stay . So we did, we ordered fish tacos which came out fast and they were hot so kudos to the chef on those however the shrimp taqueso taco i order was luke warm at best. the cheese wasnt warm at all its like they just threw shrimp on a cheese tortilla that had been sitting there for a while....I must say the shrimp taqueso taco and the service was definitely not good today . I dont know if they just didnt want to serve us or if they were just busy but something was off. I had to get the attention of the VERY NICE front door hostess to get more water and napkins . She was very nice and friendly . But overall we did not have a good experience today outside of the nice hostess and the fish tacos everything else was not good at all.

It was my first time as I was looking for fresh oysters just nearby, and I am so glad we skipped going further to the beach as I found this treasure in the heart of Bonita. Everything is nice both how food looks and tastes and above all best customer service. Basically, staff who love what they do. No frowning. This will be a weekend go to for us from now on. Other recommended food to try. We know it's great first-hand experience. Freshly made, warm, and prompt meal, thank God, for Mother's day treat after bad food experience at the expensive Marina. We were trying out which to go the day before. I recommend TJ Oyster bar smoked Tuna Fries, fish tacos, try all the ceviche, oh yes, of course, the fresh cold oysters missed since South Carolina. My family had always run restaurants back home, and we always made sure we serve the way this one does with warm, fresh, delicious meals with a genuine welcome attitude. It's the best Mexican seafood place to go here in Bonita.
Josh B — Google review
TJ Oyster never disappoints! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and served with great care. From the oysters to the tacos and everything in between — every bite is amazing. Highly recommend for seafood lovers looking for quality and consistency!

Went for a quick dinner with some friends that live in Bonita and was pleasantly surprised. We had tacos and oysters that were delicious. We also had margaritas too. The drink was a little small but I like my cocktails in pint glasses so it’s hard to measure up. The flavor was good so I didn’t care. The oysters tasted fresh off the boat too!

Puesto At The Headquarters is a bi-level eatery that offers an innovative Mexican menu sourced locally. It features floor-to-ceiling windows and serves refreshing tropical cocktails. You can enjoy the large outdoor patio at the Marina District location or opt for people-watching at the La Jolla or Mission Valley locations.
Just follow the Pink Puesto truck to the best taco and fun drinks restaurant in San Diego. Love, love, love the tacos! Service was spectacular! Thank you Elsa! We ordered several types of tacos, guacamole, and chips, and some wonderful drinks. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Glad we came here. So close to many hotels and things to do.

I’m from Michigan, and the first time we visited San Diego, we ended up dining here twice…it was that good! On our next trip back, we made it our birthday lunch spot, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. The service was amazing…our waitress even gave us a free appetizer because we waited (which was only about five minutes!). Super generous and thoughtful. The food was full of flavor, the drinks were great, and it was the perfect way to kick off our trip after getting off the plane. Highly recommend!
Cecilia W — Google review
We arrived around 3:45pm. There was a conference downtown, so it was busy causing a 30-minute wait for a table for 2. The hostesses were nice and let us know we could order food and/or drinks at these small chairs by the bar. We weren’t able to order because both lines for the bar were so long. However, once our table was ready everything was great. KORDEL was our server and he was attentive, quick, and nice. He asked about food allergies and made great suggestions. The shrimp and filet mignon tacos were our favorites. The rice and beans cost $4 extra, but were worth it. They no longer have happy hour. Instead, they have half-off all tacos from 3pm to close on Taco Tuesday. On Thursday they have another offer that includes half off margaritas. I would only go on a Tuesday because the regular taco prices are wild. ASK FOR KORDEL during your next Taco Tuesday outing.
Tayla H — Google review
We had lunch at Puesto at The Headquarters and it was excellent! Our server Adrian was super friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. We ordered a mix of tacos including Lobster, Filet Mignon, Wagyu Brisket, Ribeye, Baja Fish, and Carnitas, and every single one was packed with flavor. The crispy melted cheese and salsas really take them to the next level. The Puesto Guacamole was fresh and nicely seasoned, a solid starter. We had the Michelada and the Coke slushie, both really refreshing and perfect for a midday meal. The only letdown was the Churro Sundae, which looked great but didn’t really taste like churro. It could use more churro pieces, cinnamon sugar, or sauce to bring it together. Overall, the tacos are absolutely on point. Next time, I’d skip the apps and dessert and just stick with tacos and drinks because that’s where Puesto really shines.

We chose Puesto for a get together given they have a pup friendly patio , was walkable from our hotel and took reservations. Service was great, delicious watermelon margaritas and the food was tasty. I found pricing to be a bit high for what you were getting/portion (specifically the bowls) Also, we were never offered water for pups which is fine but compared to other pup friendly restaurants felt like a miss (we are spoiled?)

Came with a party of 6. Food was perfection and came out hot. Service was delayed a bit but they were busy for a Sunday evening with a big conference in town. Staff very friendly though. Highly recommend. Seating on two floors, try to get a table upstairs overlooking the shops. It’s a cool spot for cocktails too. Delicious mojitos. Got the chicken enchiladas - ate every bite!! My guests loved the short rib and filet tacos as well.

Stopped into Puesto in Seaport Village and had such a great experience. It’s one of those spots that feels both local and fancy, perfect for a casual night out or a quick bite. The atmosphere was lively without being overwhelming, and the bar had that perfect balance of fun energy and good conversation. Reyna and Damian were fantastic behind the bar. Ive seen Reyna a few times. Shes always on the details, genuinely friendly, attentive, and just on it with everything. They made the whole experience even better. And seriously, the steak tacos are an absolute must. Perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with flavor. Easily one of my favorite neighborhood go-tos now.

I truly appreciate the authenticity of the dishes in this restaurant. While it is not your typical Mexican dishes they are inspired by real Mexican loved recipes. Someone in my party announced that this was The Best Horchata and I have to agree. It was the creamy and sweet, yet refreshing. We had a variety of the menu items and not one dish disappointed the party. The ingredients and taste were authentically Mexican. No preservative taste anywhere. The Nogada Guacamole, obviously inspired by Chiles en Nogada, was delicious. The Esquite, while in not really a fan of esquite in general, i prefer it on the cob, but this was so good every last crumb was eaten. Totally a great experience. Can't wait to go back. The staff was super friendly and amazing as well. Overall a great experience.

South Beach Bar & Grille is a vibrant restaurant that boasts stunning ocean views and specializes in Mexican seafood dishes. Located in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, it offers a unique dining experience with its inauthentic Mexican cuisine. The eatery's small size and limited parking make it a bit challenging to access, especially during the summer months. However, the opportunity to savor their acclaimed Baja-style fish taco while enjoying beach views makes it all worthwhile.
First came here in 2018, and really wanted to come back with my wife. Such a great beach vibe, the atmosphere is chilled but with a buzz, just what you’d expect. Great drinks, we had the classic margarita and a couple of beers. We got a mix of tacos, with the birria beef being the stand out! You seated yourself, and service was efficient, but can’t say anything stood out from our server. The views from the terrace were great - really able to soak in the OB atmosphere, well worth a visit!

Been coming here for over a decade. Usually I get fish tacos or fried oyster tacos on corn tortillas. The calamari strips are always on point and are a great appetizer along with a cold beer. Kids get birria tacos & sliders. They enjoy the fish tacos as well. Birria nachos are also great. Great atmosphere, a fresh breeze is always blowing if you're seated on the 2nd floor inside or out, having a view of the waves, surfers, or just people watching always makes for an interesting meal. They have a few big TVs upstairs where they have games or UFC fights showing. Service can be hit or miss. I think 3 of 5 times they're on point, but sometimes you can't get a server to come over. Ive had to walk to the bar for drinks, napkins, or utensils. Sometimes its cause its busy and sometimes its cause they dont have many people working. It's typically not enough to ruin your experience because the food and atmosphere make up for it. I've been here with big groups from work or just the family, they accommodate both very easily. Parking is probably the most difficult part. Its always packed whether its tourist or locals so you may have to drive around a bit.

I recently dined at South Beach Bar and Grill with a breathtaking ocean view that truly lifted my spirits. The atmosphere was vibrant, making it a perfect place to relax and soak in the beauty around me. The fish and chips were a delight, with the fish crispy and flavorful, showcasing a commitment to quality. However, I was disappointed by the French fries; they seemed old and barely warm, which detracted from the meal. It left me wondering if the kitchen was cutting corners instead of striving for excellence. Even so, the stunning scenery and fantastic fish reminded me that every experience can inspire us. Let’s always aim for greatness—both in our meals and our lives! Keep pushing for the best!

Food was very average. Nice view of the ocean. Seared Ahi Tuna was poorly cooked and seasoned. Tacos were decent. We ordered a bowl of Chowder. The server did not know they were out. We asked for it after our meal had arrived and he said he'd check. We never saw him again. We got follow up from someone else who said they were out. Expect to pay for view, the food will let you down.

Great views of the ocean from upstairs. Good selection of meals. I had the special Baja Basket, fish tacos, what a bargain, after having the fried calms as an appetizer! My wife had cheese sticks.

Love the ocean views and the breeze that passes thru the bar. Happy hour is pretty busy on Fridays, but $6 for 6 clams all day is a great deal 😋 would highly recommend this place for the food and good vibes 👍

Pacific Beach Fish Shop is a popular restaurant in San Diego, known for its fresh fish and seafood dishes. The cheerful eatery offers a variety of options including tacos, sandwiches, and salads paired with local microbrews. With a family-friendly ambiance and a heated patio overlooking the ocean, it's a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The menu features an extensive selection of fresh fish prepared in various ways to suit different tastes.
1st time here. I got the deep fried halibut fish taco because one of the staff recommended it, which is not on the menu BTW. $8.75. It was fresh but the fish portion was kind of small. It was super good but I'd like to have tasted more of the fish. They have a cup you can buy for $10 and beer refills are only $6 so if you come back, it's worth it. I bought one because I'm coming back to try their other fish tacos. I really want to try their fish and chips and on Thursdays they have $1.25 oysters (super good deal). They play great music and their outdoor seating is expansive for such a small place. 4.95 ⭐ overall. I'm definitely coming back for more

The food was delicious. We had fish, shrimp and chips. A bowl of clam chowder which was out of this world. People say the lines are long and it was. I think we got there right on time before the line got bigger but it went fairly fast. The food was served quickly and the atmosphere was great. Everyone was enjoying themselves. They have an outside bar and lots of places to sit. Lots of family and their friends enjoying all the different fish plates they serve. We loved it.

Always delicious and fresh. Quick delivery of food to table. Portions are not generous based on price - in my opinion. Would recommend and come back base in taste, quality and service.

Craving oysters? This place has you covered! Big and juicy oysters here that come with the standard fixings. Happy hour oysters on Thursday are a steal for $1.25 starting at 4 pm. They also do an Oyster Shooter too which comes with a small beer to chug. They also serve other seafood too so even if oysters aren’t it thing they they’ll have something else for it seafood cravings.

If you are looking for the local fish haul experience, it does not get any better than this. I'm from Minnesota and have never been on the coast. My BF and I both got fish plates. I got the swordfish to try for the first time and it was amazing! I highly recommend this place. (The seaweed salad is delicious too!)

Visiting for the weekend and had to get some seafood. This spot has great fresh seafood with a friendly beach atmosphere! I ordered the halibut (fish shop seasoning) with salad. The fish was fresh and the flavor of the seasoning was great. Wasn’t a fan of the citrus vinaigrette dressing as it was way too for a salad. Plenty of healthy and non healthy options. The service is quick and friendly!

A little on the pricier side when purchasing different items, but delicious seafood and drinks! I love the outdoor patio area and the staff here is amazing. Highly recommend and will definitely return in the future!

This is by far the best and freshest place in SD. The fish and chips is better here than all the other top ranked ones in so cal. Fish tacos are insanely good, packed with flavor, well balanced ingredients, and seafood perfectly cooked I’ve tried 32 other places to date and this beats them all on freshness, flavor, and preparation. 10/10 drive here if you’re anywhere in San Diego for the best of the best. Staff is so kind and helpful every time I go, inside and outside seating. Usually plenty of parking on site or just across the street.

Taco Surf PB is a popular spot steps from the boardwalk, offering customizable Mexican food in San Diego. The place exudes a Baja coast vibe with its surfboard-heavy decor and old surf stickers on the metal screen door. Despite its no-frills appearance, the food is top-notch and reasonably priced. The fried fish soft taco, served with pico, cheese, guac, lime, and salsa, is particularly delightful.
We really enjoyed the Build Your Own Breakfast Burrito. Both our Burritos were quite Delicious and perfectly made. The manager and staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Ronald F — Google review
Taco Surf PB has the perfect vibe for a restaurant near the beach. Surf pictures and boards cover the ceilings and walls, and the service is fantastic. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and gave helpful recommendations. I had the five rolled tacos (beef), and it was good, but then I had a bite of my wife's surf & turf burrito, and it's on a whole other level. Honestly, don't waste time on anything else. The surf & turf burrito is dream-worthy, and I was filled with regret about my own order. Next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely be back.

Just a killer place. If you don't know them by now look them up on youtube. They have a killer California burrito that is worth the drive from anywhere in the country. Great owner fantastic ingredients and staff.
Ryan ( — Google review
I’ve been coming here for a long time and used to love this place, but what happened to me was really shocking. I ordered a California burrito to go—paid extra for cheese and sour cream—and ended up with a $18 burrito that was basically just fries and carne asada. It used to come with way more. Honestly, it felt like I paid premium price for half the product. It’s not the first, not even second time, this has happened, but it was the first time I decided to say something. I went in calmly, just to share my feedback. I wasn’t rude, I wasn’t asking for a refund—just being honest. And the woman behind the counter was incredibly rude from the start. No apology, no understanding. Instead, she snapped, “I’ll give you another burrito if you give me the one you ate.” When I explained that I had ordered as take out and already eaten it, she said something that honestly sounded like a suggestion to throw it up if I didn’t like it. Yes—you read that right. It was sarcastic, condescending, and completely out of line. I wasn’t asking for anything free. Just some basic respect as a loyal customer. A “sorry” would’ve been enough. Instead, I was met with attitude, humiliation, and disrespect.
Ioly S — Google review
Exactly what you’d want out of a San Diego taco shop. Food comes out fast and hits the spot. Tried both a breakfast and cali burrito, both were terrific. Burritos are massive and there’s no skimping on the meat.
Kyle — Google review
$14.50 for 2 tacos rice and beans. Normally I would compliant about the price of Mexican food and the lack of what you get. It this place is no normal portion spot. I’m having the two fried fish tacos where jam packed with flavor and not greasy but crispy and juicy. The rice and bean are typical solid quality aids. The two tacos were more than worth the price. So filling that I am writing this review while I’m the restaurant. If you in SD and want food near the beach. This is the spot to stop. Parking in the back off the busy street and the lady and gentleman in the back was loud, articulate, and ready to serve with a smile. They have a very large menu, but I felt very comfortable with how they help me navigate the choices and apparently they have the best burrito in San Diego voted. We got a couple of those also. 5 ⭐️
Erique ( — Google review
The food is good, but the price is a little high for a taco place. However, the location is great. I love the new layout. it seems cleaner. Parking is always difficult, but it's the beach. Fo and enjoy a taco or 2!

I come here often and it never misses. The Surf N Turf burrito is my go-to for a sunset hike, or viewpoint. Service is consistently fast and friendly, and they even let me park my bike in the back while I eat. Solid local spot that treats you right. Highly recommend.

Brigantine Seafood & Oyster Bar is a breezy waterfront restaurant that specializes in seafood and meat dishes, with a focus on oysters. This San Diego tradition has been serving high-quality surf and turf since 1969, expanding to various locations across the county. The menu features tempting options like crispy white fish fillet tacos and Sonoran-spiced swordfish tacos, both served with cabbage, salsa fresca, cheddar cheese, and ranch dressing on corn tortillas.
Visited twice in the week we were here. Once for lunch, once for dinner. Service was excellent and food was fresh and delicious. The cold seafood platter was a touch pricey but worth it for the quality. Oysters exceptional (had them twice) and the crab stuffed prawn - divine! Lobster tail, buttery and fish and chips, crispy and flavorful. Can’t wait to go back one day.

Really nice experience at the Brigantine , we were in town visiting friends and we had a nice group for dinner. Even with a party of about 15 there was no problem getting accommodations. The seating was spacious and comfortable. The service was very good , our server was attentive and on point. Once we ordered our food came out fast, I'm not sure how but everything was quick and cooked to order perfectly. We all had various drinks, and dessert at the end and really not one complaint. If you're in town and looking for a nice waterside dinning experience out the Brigantine on your list.

We ENJOYED our experience. The food and service were amazing. I'm so happy the food was just as good as the views. It was a busy Saturday night and I'm glad we had reservation. We sat outside which was perfect, especially during sunset. I had the swordfish, my friend went with the stuffed shrimp wrapped in back and my mom has the halibut. Everything was so delicious. If you're in the area I highly recommend.

We ordered the Crab and Shrimp fondue, Brog Salad and bacon wrapped and stuffed crab shrimp. Roll me out of here! Absolutely delicious. The Jalapeno Cheese sauce had a mild kick to it and we added it to our fondue bites. Yum Yum! Service was excellent and really good looking. No room for desert.
Elizabeth D — Google review
We ordered the classic brig fish tacos, the oysters, and the crab stuffed tiger shrimp. Everything was super tasty. The shrimp came with a white sauce that had a little kick from the jalapeños, not too spicy, just right. It was served with mashed potatoes and some veggies. I asked for it without bacon, and honestly, I really loved the dish. The fish tacos were also really good, the coleslaw added a nice crunch and flavor. We were there celebrating a birthday. I mentioned it when I booked the table, and at the end of the meal, they brought out a complimentary ice peanut cake, which was super sweet. The service was great, really attentive and friendly. Overall, it was a great experience and I’d definitely come back.

This is my second time & it was as good as the first! You have to try the crab & shrimp fondue! It’s the best ever! Whole reason why I came back! The restaurant is perfectly situated on the water both times I sat outside for the water. The service is excellent & so is the food & drinks! I had the passion margarita. We also had the free bread both of course & the coconut macadamia shrimp. Everything was great! I highly recommend this restaurant.

I had such a lovely experience today. The crab stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon was amazing. I wanted something fruity and sparkling to drink and the server(I'm really annoyed I forgot his name) made me a strawberry lemonade and added sprite to it to make it fizzy. It was perfect. Great atmosphere and great food and awesome service makes this experience a 10 out of 10!

Let me tell you something.... if you want delicious dinner with a gorgeous view on the marina, this is it. I got the blackened salmon SPECIAL, not the regular blackened salmon, the SPECIAL. Its got the most delicious lemon sauce on it and is stuffed with crab. The salmon just pulls apart and melts like butter in your mouth. Its served with the most delicious risotto and broccollini kissed with salt. So you can really taste the flavor of the veggie. The shrimp and crab fondue is TO DIE FOR. It comes with little crostinis, which are basically just toasted mini slices of bread. The flavor of the crostinis are perfect. My husband got the Wagyu burger. The ground the meat in house, so get it medium, medium well MAX. It was so incredibly juicy. You could really taste the freshness of the beef. The fries that came with it have so much flavor without a ton of salt. It's almost as if you could taste exactly how the potato came to be the fries on the plate, if that makes sense. You can taste the story. You can taste the potato. Eating these will change the way you view fries at other locations, so beware for a flavor explosion. The passion fruit margarita comes with a tajin seasoning around the lining of the cup, which makes a divine combination with the passion fruit. This is not a drink you want to sip on. As it waters down, the flavor completely disappears. So drink it at a decent pace. Great reviews on the old fashion my husband got. We chose the buffalo trace, and it was very smooth. So just make sure you choose a smooth whiskey to pair. The view was incredible, the service was unmatched. Parking is difficult when its busy, so if youre going, try and get there before the busy hours (lunch and dinner rushes typically happen at noon and 6pm).

I had an amazing experience at City Tacos today the server who helped me had such great energy, personality and customer service. She honestly made my visit. It’s the kind of experience that makes you want to come back just because of how welcome you feel. The tacos were delicious too but the service really stood out. I usually go to other locations but I might have to make this one my regular spot. Thank you for the amazing experience!

Its nice to have a place with a variety of vegetarian tacos that werent just cactus or beans and cheese. We got the city zuchini and chili relleno. Each had a good mixture of veggies and sauce pairings. The tortias were a nice stretchy which was good considering the amount of filling would have ripped straight through a corn tortia. They had a sauce bar that was pretty good but the mango sauce was more of a syrup than a sauce. On its own it was too much but in the taco it worked. Overall a good spot.

Tacos ! Tortas and a beautiful view what more can a girl ask for ? Seriously some of the best tacos in so cal ! Clean location with friendly staff , a salsa bar and a menu with options for everyone

Carne asada fries were a HUGE portion. Cali burrito was normal proportion. Both were okay. The guacamole was the main thing keeping it down, it had raw white onion in it which I don't prefer and just gave you that onion crunch randomly. The salsa was just okay and almost had a little off taste to it.
Zachery S — Google review
Decent little taco shop right on the thorough fair. There is a small park to the North, and a couple of people tied their dogs there while they ate. The outdoor seating area overlooks the park. There are also seating areas right against 101 as well. Nice place to people watch while you wait for your food, if that's for your thing. The food was pretty expensive, but everything in the area is similarly priced. Food was quickly made, tasted great, and very filling. Not much more you can ask for!

I have had two Fish burritos so far and my husband has had a few also. They have always been great, with a lot of fish. It is our favorite place to get Fish burritos. My husband has had the Fish & Chips burrito which he likes a lot. The Nachos Supreme is large with a lot of meat. Kotija Jr. is not a fancy place to eat, so don’t expect the people behind the counter to wait on you like a server in a restaurant. They have always been decent and friendly, so I don’t know what other reviewers are talking about when they say they are rude or have an attitude.

Plates look good but taste is below average of any Mexican Restaurant. It’s sad because we have been here a few years ago and was very good then. No idea if the chef changed but definitely not worth the money. Carne asada was very tough to chew. The fish tasted old plus oil used to fry tasted overused if that’s the right word. I hope they pay attention to these details cos the location is great and I definitely want to see them succeed always!

Nestled charmingly along the marina, Mitch's Seafood is a delightful seafood haven that showcases the best of locally caught fish. Established in 2008 by three families with deep roots in fishing around Point Loma, this eatery prides itself on serving fresh seafood sourced primarily from the bountiful waters off San Diego and Northern Baja. With a focus on simple yet flavorful California-style dishes, guests can enjoy an array of options paired perfectly with local craft beers and wines.
Had a great lunch here while in SD. Might be our new go to place as the food was excellent and service relatively quick despite being busy. Seating is limited both inside and outside but worth the wait if necessary. Reasonable prices, great selections and a variety of beverages as well.
C L — Google review
Food was okay but most was kind of greasy. Service was fast as can be expected considering how crowded it was. They have a decent selection of food and drinks. Seating is very limited. Overall, I don't think it's worth returning to eat there unless w can find a time that isn't as busy. Mostly due the restaurant size not being able to handle the crowds. That issue alone makes it overrated. They seem to be a victim of their own success. There's both and table seating as well as inside and outside bar style seating. The location is okay if you're into looking at a marina. Parking was atrocious.

My mom amd I decided to come try Mitch's. The Spiney Lobster was very good. Mom had the Fried Combo. She was not really liking the Crab Cake (we are from the East Coast and she is a snob about Blue Crab Lump Crab Cakes). We were told that the fish was cooked with a Panko Crust not Beer Batter. However, she LOVED the shrimp!! And apparently, so do the seagulls! Hahaha! We were seated outside facing the Harbor and 2 swooped down and 1 grabbed the shrimp right out of mom's hand! She smacked it! But he got away with the goods! LOL! One of the guys that worked there saw what happened and brought over the stickers along with a replacement shrimp (which was super nice of them). We will be back!! The staff was awesome, kind and attentive! I recommend!

One of the only places I’ll go to for seafood! Everything is fresh, and it’s all reasonably priced. This is the place to go if you just want good seafood and a serene view without the frills of an overpriced dine-in experience. If you sit on the deck, be prepared to defend your plate. Seagulls are ruthless but the view is so relaxing and I promise your food won’t last long on your plate anyway. I love the grilled shrimp skewers and I never leave without one kind of fish taco and a golden fried fillet. Fry basket shrimp are yuge. Also Matt who works there is rad!

Casual spot with good quality and nice views. - Crab cakes 5/5 - these really stood out and were perfectly cooked - Fish tacos (grilled and fried) 4/5 - these were great but don’t necessarily stand out in San Diego. - Calamari 3/5 - lacked seasoning and didn’t care for the dipping sauce but was of good quality - Grilled rockfish 3/5 - cooked nicely and was high quality but also lacked seasoning and the herb verde was lackluster. Coleslaw was nice however.

It's your typical by-the-dock dining experience. It's much better of eating outside looking at the boats than sitting inside. Yes, seating is rather limited and the tight space will get crowded during peak. If you do order fried stuff like I did, please don't have it to go. It doesn't so the chef justice. The food has great flavor and incredible portion. I ordered the seafood platter: 3 pieces of shrimps, 1 crab cake, 1 piece of fish and a lot of fries. My recommendation to the restaurant would be cut the amount of the fries by half and put in extra piece of fish. Generally, the experience was pleasant and the staff were friendly. From the pics, you can tell that they care about the environment.

I stopped by this place for lunch in Point Loma after seeing how highly rated it was on Google, and it definitely seemed popular. Even on a weekday afternoon, the place was bustling with people. One thing to note: there’s no free parking — the lot next to it is paid, and they do not validate, so be prepared to pay for parking. The restaurant has a very casual, self-service setup. You walk in, read the menu written on a chalkboard, place your order, take a number, and find your own seat. The menu isn’t huge, but it offers a solid mix: fried seafood plates, stews, grilled fish, sandwiches, and a few taco-style options. Everything is based on fresh catch, which is a big plus. I couldn’t decide at first — the grilled lobster and soups looked great — but I eventually chose the mixed seafood platter, which was a giant fried assortment served with coleslaw and fries. The portion was huge, definitely enough to share. It included shrimp, calamari/tentacles, a big crab cake, and a couple pieces of fried fish (likely cod or another white fish). Everything was very fresh, crispy, and delicious, but extremely filling since everything is fried. It came with lemon wedges and tartar sauce, which helped cut the richness. Next time, I might try the fisherman’s stew or one of the grilled options, but this was still a satisfying pick. The outdoor deck seating is a bonus — you get a nice view of the marina with lots of boats and ocean breeze. Just be mindful of seagulls and pigeons; they are bold and will absolutely try to steal food. The overall vibe is very laid-back, more like a seafood shack than a formal restaurant. Fresh seafood, generous portions, casual atmosphere — definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

If you find yourself in Encinitas, California, make sure to swing by Juanitas Taco Shop for a delightful culinary experience that captures the essence of authentic Mexican cuisine. This no-frills eatery is renowned for its generous portions of burritos and nachos, making it a favorite among both locals and visitors alike.
Best burritos is town! Local friends all agree to this fact! Green and red sauce for all tables and outdoor seating is available.

Went on the recommendation of a friend. However, he always went after surfing and we went closer to closing around 9pm. The carnitas burrito was VERY dry. The Chicken burrito was decent but not spectacular. The carne asada was also just average. The woman at the counter was not very happy. The seating area was typical for a hole in the wall place. It was clean. Maybe we hit it at a bad time.

I've waited 15 years to try this place .. because I'm always rushing. Well, today I finally went in and had a meal. There is some front street parking, side parking and rear parking. There's also a bus stop less (101) than a block away but I walked to it from a nearby hotel. The notion of authentic food is obvious by the cashier's and cooks I had the opportunity to thank for such a delicious meal. I was fortunate enough to have my lunch to myself because no one was eating inside during my brief 1 hour there.. however there were non-stop to-go orders the whole time. I ordered my usual test food of Carne Asada Nachos and a Coke. The coke tasted like a coke should. It wasn't flat. The carne asada nachos were made with the exact amount of chips and fixings and meat. There was no chip eaten without something on it which is rare. Usually most places put too much chips. There was a good serving of guacamole, sour cream, unmelted cheese, pico de gallo and meat. It could easily feed 2 but I only ate 1x in the morning so this was my lunch and dinner. I opted for both red and green salsa .. which were both delicious. The red was slightly spicier but not too much. I have 1 before and 1 mid photos so you can see the balanced portions. In my opinion the cooks were nice and know how to cook in my humble opinion. The food was delicious and I'm definitely coming back tomorrow to test their breakfast burrito. I highly recommend coming in and trying their food. There's plenty to do in the area to walk off your meal afterwards. All in all .. definitely a monthly meal for me worth the extra 5 min drive from my office.

Went with bacon breakfast burrito as recommended by the kind man behind the counter and it was phenomenal… perfect ratio of ingredients and perfectly soft but toasty tortilla. Large but manageable size! Overall very satisfied and will be back!

Really good carne asada, carnitas and fish tacos. We have been going for years and never disappointed. Service is fast and food is good.

Been eating here for 30 years, I grew up on this food and it still hits. There's a simplicity to it, it's the flavors I crave when I come home, and it's a flavor that I haven't found elsewhere. My favorite is to get both a carne asada burrito and a veggie burrito to split with someone so we can each have half of each.

I make great carnitas. Juanita's is better. While all the sucker tourists wait in line at the Taco Stand, you can go here. Great prices, great food. If they only had beer, I would never leave......

Don Bravo is a Mexican restaurant in La Jolla that offers a mix of traditional and non-traditional dishes. Established in 1980, this family-owned spot serves up authentic Mexican flavors, including grilled seafood tacos, burritos, and Mexican combo plates with rice and beans. The menu also features non-traditional offerings like hamburgers, ceviche, and churros. With its casual and friendly atmosphere, Don Bravo provides indoor and patio seating on a first-come basis.
During my recent visits to Don Bravos Authentic Mexican Cuisine at 5504 La Jolla Blvd in La Jolla, CA, I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of their food and service. On consecutive evenings, I enjoyed their carne asada tacos and carnitas tacos, both of which were flavorful and satisfying. The no-frills, fast service, combined with the delicious food, made for an excellent dining experience. I highly recommend Don Bravos for anyone seeking authentic Mexican cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere.

This place was full of flavor and affordable. I was only in town a short time and went two times because of how delicious it was. I tried the fish tacos which were amazing and the habanero salsa yum! Also the chili relleno burrito and a regular bean and cheese burrito. The beans are hands down great. For dessert I had the churros and yum yum yum soooo good and fried perfectly. I will definitely be back if I go back to that side of town. Do not pass this one up. Sooooooo good 🙂

It was OK, but given the price, I didn't think it was good value. You can take a look at my picture and see if you think it was worth it. Technically the food wasn't bad, but Don Bravo was simply not competitive in a city like San Diego, or even just one neighborhood like PB.

Good place to grab some Mexican food either after or on your way to the beach. The food is tasty and while it's not AMAZING! It's also not bad. Recommend it if you're looking for something quick and casual.

Tried a few street tacos. Carnitas and also fried fish. Fish was better. Carnitas were a bit dry. Tortillas (corn) were good. Thick enough that you only needed one per taco. Best thing was the price. Street tacos were $3 each. My girlfriend got a two taco platter. $8 for two. Both reasonably priced. Her grilled Mahi Mahi were better than either of mine.

UPDATE I recommend the carne asada burrito. I do not recommend the mahi-mahi burrito. PRIOR UPDATE $1 added to credit card purchases. I don't believe in that. ORIGINAL REVIEW I got the carne asada burrito, it came with chips, and small bowls for salsa. I thought it was very good. It's a good size, and one of the things that's nice about this location is that it's in a very small busy luxe area with beautiful nature all around, the ocean and wonderful places to explore. This is an easy way to get decent food and also it has a porch in the back that overlooks the ocean and is a very good spot strategically if you want a nice view. I enjoyed the burrito and I think I would get the mahi-mahi burrito next and I would go back. Thanks.

Every time I'm in San Diego, I stop here for the best fish tacos of my life. These pictures are almost 2 year apart, and the tacos taste exactly the same. My wife got an Enchilada plate and loved it (though she would have like more cheese, but we're originally from Wisconsin so there you go). You will NOT be disappointed coming to Don Bravo. Simply the best.

A classic Bird Rock institution that’s been around for decades. The food is great and the salsas are even better! I love the habanero and tomatillo salsas so much here. The chicken and lobster tacos are super flavorful and juicy as well. As you eat, you can sit on the back porch and see the Pacific Ocean! They even have a food truck in their parking lot that serves other off-menu items like menudo and pozole. This is a great option for Mexican in Bird Rock/North Pacific Beach!

Shoutout to the whole team! We showed up a few minutes before they opened, and even though a few other parties arrived at the same time, the staff handled it like pros. Great teamwork all around! Our server and another team member made sure we were taken care of right away. Everyone was super friendly and attentive—from keeping our coffee topped off to getting our orders in quickly. The food came out fast, perfectly cooked, and honestly, everything was delicious. You can really tell they use quality ingredients, and the presentation was on point. They even helped celebrate a birthday in our group, which was a really nice touch. Overall, just a great experience. Good vibes, great service, and amazing food. Definitely coming back!

Went to Cove House in La Jolla with a big group after running the Rock n Roll Half Marathon in San Diego and this place was legit a solid choice to eat after. I totally get why it has so many reviews, the food was actually really good and had great flavor. I ended up getting the Cove Burger cooked medium rare and it was absolutely fire. Super juicy, flavorful, and the fries were crispy with some solid seasoning. The brussel sprouts were alright but honestly lacked flavor and just felt kinda flat. The shrimp though was a huge win, super juicy and cooked right which is always a nice surprise since shrimp can easily be dry. The chicken tinga tacos were tasty but pretty small, wish they were a little bigger for the price. French toast got wiped out so quick I barely got a second look at it, but from the bite I had it was definitely worth ordering again. We also got the shrimp aquachile which was bomb, fresh and tangy with a good kick, but the tortilla chips it came with were stale and tasted like they had been sitting for days which kinda threw it off. Still, overall I’d recommend the spot. The view is great, the vibe is chill, and the food hits the spot after a long day or race.

We arrived early for lunch, and the restaurant wasn’t very busy. When we asked to sit on the patio, the young lady at the front told us there were no tables available, even though a few looked open. We would have completely understood if she had explained or apologized nicely, but her tone came across a bit rough and made us feel uncomfortable. When we asked if we could at least sit by the window to have a bit of a view, she was indifferent and just nodded without saying much. The food itself was tasty, and our server was polite and attentive, but unfortunately both of us had upset stomachs afterward. It’s a shame because the flavors and presentation were great.

Sitting on the patio, there are beautiful views. Feels like Greece! The wait was 25min and we spent it walking at the nearby park. They text you! Loved the food, we got crab Benedict and the chicken and waffle appetizer...so delicious!

From the moment I walked in, I knew this was going to be a great experience. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, and the staff truly made it stand out. Everyone on the crew was friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a great time. Their positive energy and efficient service set the tone for what turned out to be a fantastic meal. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals to enjoy out, and I’ve had plenty of great ones—but this place stood out in the best way. The quality, flavor, and presentation were top-notch from start to finish. I started with their Spicy Bloody Mary, and it was the perfect way to begin. It had the right level of heat, full of bold flavor without being overpowering. It was well-balanced, refreshing, and served ice-cold with a great garnish. Definitely a solid choice if you like a drink that wakes up your palate. For my main course, I went with the Steak and Eggs—and it was exactly how it should be. The steak was cooked just right, tender and juicy with great seasoning. The eggs were perfectly done and complemented the meat beautifully. It’s a classic breakfast combo that they’ve executed flawlessly. The Loco Moco was another winner. Hearty, savory, and deeply satisfying, it checked every box. The beef patty was juicy, the rice was fluffy, and the gravy tied everything together in the most comforting way. The fried egg on top was the perfect finishing touch. This dish felt authentic and thoughtful—comfort food elevated with care. And now, for the star of the show: the French Toast. I don’t say this lightly—this French toast is truly one of a kind. It’s not your average version—it’s better in every possible way. Crispy on the outside, soft and custardy inside, with just the right hint of sweetness and spice. It’s rich without being heavy, and each bite just melts in your mouth. I haven’t had French toast like this anywhere else, and I’d honestly return just for this dish. It’s unforgettable. Throughout the meal, the service remained exceptional. Drinks were refilled promptly, the staff checked in just the right amount—not too much, not too little—and the food came out at a perfect pace. It’s clear that the team works well together and takes pride in both the food and the experience they provide. The ambiance added to the enjoyment—casual yet clean and inviting, with a warm energy that made it feel like a place you’ll want to return to again and again. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick solo bite or enjoying a slow, relaxed meal with friends or family, this place hits all the right notes. In a city full of good food, it’s always refreshing to find a spot that not only delivers on taste but also creates a memorable experience. The combination of flavorful dishes, stand-out items like the French toast, and genuinely kind, efficient service makes this place a gem. I’ll definitely be back soon—and next time, I might just start and end with that French toast

Rubio's Coastal Grill is a beach-themed chain that offers Baja-style fish tacos and Mexican-inspired seafood dishes. The founder, Ralph Rubio, was inspired to bring fish tacos to the masses after trying his first one in Ensenada. Today, the restaurant serves sustainable seafood, scratch-made beans, stone ground corn tortillas, and freshly-made guacamole and salsa fresca. With locations all over San Diego county, Rubio's offers fresh and healthier Mexican fast food dining with high-quality service.
Overall they are absolutely GREAT! Customer service is fantastic 95-98% of the time (no one and no business is perfect). Any constructive criticism would be that the tables need to be wiped down better and more frequent. I will say though that their bathrooms are cleaner than almost ANY other fast food or slow fast food anywhere! And almost always stocked. And if it isn't, all you need to do is politely, let them know and they will quickly refill what needs to be refilled.😊

DO NOT ORDER ON THEIR WEBSITE. It is a scam. When you go to place order it will say an error you have to correct, when you fix it another error will come up. Meanwhile they are charging your card every time. If you call the store they didn't receive any order, so you have to email to file a complaint and hope they refund you. Its happened to me twice now, months apart.

One of my favorite kind of places to eat Mexican, and maybe my number one chain red for Mexican. Everything is good here, so pick your favorite delivery system—I always go for tacos or a burrito. There’s a salsa bar in every store, so you can add the flavors and spice you like. Plates come with beans and chips which go together really well. Check the map—there’s usually a Rubio’s near you anywhere in Southern California.

2 for 5 bucks Baja fish tacos, hard to beat. They weren't the best but at that price they were. Both salsa and cream were good too but also could have had more flavor and/or heat. Still fully enjoyed and would have liked to try a few of their other fusion tacos remember sounded real good

Ok gluten-free tacos, semi-fresh ingredients, but not as fresh or flavorful as expected. Our vegetable taco was fresh, good fillers, but on the smaller portion size compared to the five meat tacos. The rest of our tacos had a meat that tasted like it was previously cooked, kept warm under a heat lamp and served as ordered, they were not cooked and served fresh when ordered. The same with the soft corn shells, they tasted like refrigerated day-old options that needed to be heated/cooked a bit longer. Each of the simple filler ingredients tasted fresh in the taco.

First day of our trip in Carlsbad and we scored BIG. RUN do not walk to this place if you want the BEST roasted corn of your life. I’m not joking. Also notably delightful was the veggie and grilled fish taco. We found the pulled chicken taco very bland - wouldn’t recommend it. You should grab a brookie - not too sweet, great textures of cookie and brownie balanced well. The Cali beach vibes in the natural wood tone decor were perfect. Pure Taco was pure yum!

Upon entering with a friend we weren't greeted and saw the only cashier on the phone with a customer. Stood there awkwardly for a couple minutes. She then hung up and actually turned around and left without greeting us. Then finally another girl came out to take our order. I ordered 2 of the veggie tacos and added guac (something they should come with). The cashier quickly forgot to give me the drink I ordered as well and I had to remind her. Cashiers were very young and inexperienced. We sat at the bar because that was the only available seating area. The restaurant has an open bar Miami feel to it which was the best thing about the place. We didn't order margaritas as the tacos were expensive enough, 2 for $15 and they were the smallest tacos I've ever seen. The veggie tacos came with this huge flower thing on top which was edible to an extent but there was simply too much of it. The tacos were tiny and gone in 2 minutes. The service at the bar was better than the check-in experience by far. I had originally filled a water cup at the drink despenser but the bartender offered to fill up my water with that little hose thing they have which was a nice gesture. Conclusion: not worth the price for the small portions you get and the lack of seating. Nice idea but simply isn't worth it.
Joel C — Google review
The global fusion makes the menu more fun than the average taco place. The dog friendly covered patio (which has heaters when it is chilly) has a great vibe. Proximity to the beach makes it perfect for pre or post beach grub. The Happy Hour is on point (may I suggest the Dole Whip Mai Tai - YUM).

Perfect place to grab a bite to eat! Carnitas bowl is amazing! Love the different flavors and the salsa verde is the best! Spicy, but too good to not want more 😉 I’ve ordered the carnitas fries previously, but the bowl is my new favorite. Plus, leftovers are still good the next day, too! 😀 such a cute little restaurant.

Food is really spectacular and the overall atmosphere is great! However, the bartender Oceana, is extremely rude and she has lack customer service skills. We visited during a busy time which is the time when your true self shows toward paying customers. We were trying to clear a table that was slow to turnover so we had somewhere to sit. Oceana shook her head and exclaimed a rude comment under her breathe when we set the trays from the dirty table on the corner of the bar. One bad apple always tarnishes the rest of the workers with a positive mindset.

Updated review now that they've been open 6+mo: Food is still really good and service is still good but for some reason they can't get food out hot. We've been now problem 6+ times and it's the same issue literally every time. Food is not even warm when it hits the table. Even burritos which should be the easiest food to serve hot. I am guessing it's because they try to time in so a tables order is all server at once which is nice but I think most people would prefer staggered service times if the food is hot. ........…. Really good new restaurant! We've been 3 times since it's opened and have had a chance to try most of the menu and just about everything we've had has been great. All food we've had has been well seasoned, especially the Korean pork and citrus pork. The margarita's were good, a little on the weaker side but solid over all. Service has been friendly every time, and for a new restaurants they're doing pretty good. I've had food come out cold once, and they should really offer more salsa when food is served. And for the prices, they should include free chips and salsa (especially if cocktails are ordered). Prices are the main issue, they really need to provide more value for the cost. For example, the California burrito was super tasty, but small compared to other offerings and at $11 it's $3-5 more than anywhere else. For that price it needs to include a side or be larger. Overall a great new spot with a few wrinkles that need to be ironed out.

"Mariscos Mi Gusto Es" is a popular spot in San Diego known for its top-notch seafood tacos and other delectable dishes. The menu features a variety of fresh and daily-prepared items, including ceviche, tostadas, and flavorful seafood options like Marlin, shrimp, bacon, spicy shrimp taco, and garlic octopus taco. In addition to their seafood specialties, they also offer great carne asada for meat lovers.
This is a Gem! We are from Riverside! We’re out in Spring Valley for a church conference, I was tired of tacos, so we searched seafood and this spot popped up. It’s a food truck, but the food which is prepped and made to the order is very delicious and packs a lot of flavor. We ordered The Aguachiles, Ceviche Mixta, tacos de pescado, tacos de camarón, Agua chiles de mango, and cóctel de camarones. These alone were more than enough to feed 8 ppl. My kids ordered an asada quesadilla, let me tell you, this asada unlike any other we’ve had in Chula Vista, is very well seasoned and flavorful. Definitely will visit again!

Do not sleep on this place! Of all the taco places I tried, this was my favorite. Tacos are flavorful and seafood is fresh. They make the best fish tacos. The owners are also very friendly. They do need to update their menu as prices are not accurate. There are a few round tables and chairs next to the truck. No washroom on site. Plenty of parking spots.

The best mariscos food truck I have found in San Diego! The food was very fresh and delicious. The food is made after you order it so you don't have to worry about eating something that's been sitting around all day. There is plenty of parking and some tables to eat. Highly recommend it!

I visited this truck on a recommendation from You Tube, it has the highest Yelp review for a truck in SD. Spicy shrimp taco was great. Fried shrimp taco was just ok, fried shrimp was under seasoned. The sauce and topping carried the main ingredient. Overall, food was tasty but not the best. The chipotle sauce on the side just tastes like seasoned mayo. Not much flavor.

World Famous is a casual and popular surf-and-turf eatery located on the Pacific Beach boardwalk, offering an inventive mix of seafood, pub grub, and refreshing drinks. With simple wood-paneled interiors and an oceanfront patio boasting spectacular beach views, it's a great spot to relax over multiple drinks and tacos while enjoying entertaining people-watching.
Our visit to World Famous was nothing short of amazing. We kicked things off with their clam chowder, creamy, flavorful, and easily one of the best we’ve had. For our main course, the Sierra Mar grilled Pacific sea bass absolutely stole the show, perfectly cooked and bursting with fresh, coastal flavor. The crunchy jumbo shrimp lived up to their name, super crispy on the outside, tender and sweet on the inside. We couldn’t resist adding a lobster taco and a fish taco, and both were so dam good. Seriously, don’t leave without trying them! Even the kids’ fish and chips impressed us. It’s better than many of the adult versions we’ve tried at other local spots. Service was warm and welcoming when we were seated, though there was a small hiccup with the water refills and post meal check ins. Still, the incredible food more than made up for it. Overall, a fantastic dining experience. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend!

A Mixed Bag on the Boardwalk My boyfriend and I were looking for a classic San Diego beach brunch and decided to try World Famous. We arrived around 10 am on a Sunday and were told the wait would be about 40 minutes. Luckily, we got a text that our table was ready in only 20 minutes, which was a pleasant surprise. We were seated outside in a shady spot, which was perfect since it was already getting hot. The one major drawback was the strict menu schedule. I have an egg allergy, so I was hoping to order from the lunch menu, but we were told the kitchen wouldn't start those orders for another 45 minutes. It would be great if they could be more flexible with allergies. When I was finally able to order, I got the fish and chips without the chips due to a potato allergy and chose a side salad instead. The fish was a bit heavy on the batter, but it was flavorful. The side salad was pretty standard, nothing special. A suggestion for the menu would be to offer sweet potato fries as an alternative for people with nightshade allergies. My boyfriend had a much better experience. He ordered the World Famous Wipeout and said the bacon was perfect and the pancakes were delicious. Our server was very sweet and attentive throughout our meal. The Drunken Mermaid cocktail was also a hit! We would consider going back, but next time we’ll aim to arrive closer to lunch service to avoid the wait for the kitchen to open the lunch menu. Overall, a nice spot with good service, but the menu constraints were a significant issue for my allergies.

Went as two couples for a weekend lunch. We started with the mimosa option and their Award winning World Famous lobster bisque with sherry. Do not skip this. It’s absolutely amazing! Everyone ordered a different menu item and they were all prepared to perfection! Very reasonably priced too! We chose a window seat in the outdoor covered patio area to enjoy people watching, in addition to our fabulous meal.

Their location is fantastic. We ordered the Benedict but seems not like traditional one to me. Wonderful service with kind manner. They offer outside sitters both with indoors if u reckon the sun is too much. Fun fact: by looking at the restaurant nearby, they seem are one of the few restaurants opened before real noon. And it is a not bad choice.

We took our large family for dinner and it was wonderful view of the Pacific Ocean. We ordered many drinks, appetizers, and dinner items. All the food came out piping hot. Calamari was large pieces and tasty. The crab cakes were also well seasoned and very tasty. I ordered the Harpoon dish and the salmon was well seasoned but a bit overcooked. The shrimp in the dish had a strong cholrine flavor which overpowered the rest of the flavor of the shrimp. The scallops were small but tasty. The asparagus could have used another 30 seconds to cook. The experience was great and memorable.

We are regulars for a reason! The manager, Roxanne, is incredible! My parents have mobility issues and she ensures that we have a table that can accommodate them EVERY time we visit. The staff, especially Luz, are so helpful and friendly. The food is terrific but the people who work there make this a step above the rest! It’s why we always come back! The tacos are INCREDIBLE! You cannot go wrong with any menu option. You have a view of the ocean and boardwalk! People watchers will love this place!

I had the seafood taco sampler and the jumbo shrimp. My server Madi was good. Quick, attentive and friendly. The tacos were the best I've had. These are a meal within itself. The jumbo shrimp with the ginger slaw was so flavorful. Plus I got the stuffed mushrooms to go. Very good. Right on the beach, great atmosphere inside or out on the patio.

Seafood market
El Pescador Fish Market has been a staple in La Jolla since 1974, offering a variety of just-caught seafood options to-go or prepared on-site. The market is housed in a modern building with communal tables for dining in. Their menu focuses on fresh seafood, which can be selected from the case and prepared to your liking - grilled, fried, in a sandwich or burrito, or as part of a salad. Notable dishes include the sea bass sandwich and shrimp tacos.
Yum. Everything looked so good and fresh here. We tried a fish burrito and some ceviche. Got it to go and heading to the beach. It was so good and traveled well. We would probably frequent this place for our fresh fish if we lived nearby. Totally worth the stop

This place is the best. My favorite item is the swordfish, always a treat. So so fresh, and it's amazing in a sandwich. (tip: always say yes to Avo) Don't sleep on their clam chowder either, it's the best I've ever had outside of the east coast. And the salads are on point too, can't go wrong really with the protein choice. Fish, shrimp, octopus, scallops all are super delicious. This has been a go-to spot in my family for about 20 years and I just can't get enough!
Daniel K — Google review
Such a fresh, vibrant spot! You can see the quality right in the seafood display. The salmon dishes were perfectly cooked , my kiddo loved theirs. My octopus was just a touch chewy, but the flavors were bright and real. It’s counter service, casual, and not pet-friendly, but fair prices and great freshness. Loved the vibe!

Amazing restaurant! Fun atmosphere. Entire staff friendly and helpful. Amazing selection of fresh seafood cooked to order. Sashimi and Pike too! Recommendation- Ask about the "Burro(Burrito) Of The Day". The day we went the Burro special with Sea Bass PLUS SHRIMP, For UNDER $20!!! So good!

Have eaten here so many times but this is my first review. This place literally never fails. Let’s start with the oysters….only got 4 as a little app for myself but I seriously could have eaten 2 dozen. Currently regretting my decision as I devoured my 4 in about 60 seconds. And their mignonette is next level. If you like oysters, do yourself a favor and get these. I got the west coast ones but I’m sure the east coast ones are also FIRE. Moving on to my main dish, got the blackened/cajun salmon plate and this also was next level. Even the freaking side of veggies was amazing. It’s probably not the cheapest seafood in town but it is easily the best. Worth every penny.

My favorite fish taco place in San Diego. The staff is always super nice. I love the outdoor seating when weather is nice. The food is always delicious and fresh. I miss going there so try to go multiple times when I am in San Diego. Delicious😍

I had the catch of the day swordfish regular sandwich with avocado and my partner had the mahi mahi regular sandwich with avocado. Fireeee sandwiches. I loved my swordfish especially. Top 10 sandwiches I had in my life. Would definitely come here for a nice lil Sammy if you like food that's delicious. If you don't like food that delicious idk what to tell you, maybe share some broken shells with the seagulls.

The BEST local Seabass and clam chowder in San Diego. Tried it blackened with Cajun spices with salad and brown rice. Fresh, healthy, amazing! Paired perfectly with their homemade watermelon lemonade. Lulu was very nice and helpful as well. Ten stars!

If you're on the hunt for a seafood haven, look no further than Fish 101 Leucadia. This charming family-run restaurant is helmed by a husband and wife chef duo who are passionate about serving up sustainably-caught local fish with a Californian twist. The menu boasts an array of mouthwatering options, from classic fish and chips to tantalizing tacos and burritos, all crafted with fresh ingredients that elevate traditional flavors.
I have never been a huge fan of cooked fish for most of my life, but good fish tacos and good fish and chips have changed that (as well as grilled whole fish like in Mexico). Fish 101 has GREAT food. The fish is perfect, and they made all the dishes and sides as good as any other place I have probably ever had. The fish tacos with the salsa are excellent. Highly recommend. The restaurant looks like a converted house complete with a covered back patio. It's all pretty cool and provides a unique atmosphere.

Have been to this location a few times and the food and service never disappoints. The Baja fish tacos are simple and yet delicious. Staff is always friendly. Parking is a little rough since there’s no lot and you have to park on the street. Park on the side of the road in front of the motel or wine store.

The fish and chips (cod) was delicious. Very light batter and the fish was soft and really good. The fish tacos were okay but not as good. The chips were great. Chowder was great. We all loved the oysters. The dozen we had were fantastic.

The best Mexican/Seafood dish I’ve ever had!! Loved their tortilla!! I had grilled Mahi Mahi plate with seaweed salad and brown rice, soooo good! I got a bite of fish burrito from my daughter, which was also delicious!! Plus, their pico de garo and guacamole were the best!! It’s a basic thing but is very important🥑🍅

Clam chowder was really good! Tuna poke bowl also good but I only got one small sliver or avocado with it and I would’ve liked minimum half an avocado for the size of the bowl. Pink sauce was also pretty spicy but overall it was good.

Sandbar Sports Grill is a casual, bi-level spot located by the ocean in San Diego. It offers a laid-back atmosphere with two patios and indoor seating, making it perfect for sports enthusiasts. The menu boasts award-winning tacos, including fish tacos that are highly recommended. Visitors rave about the delicious Californexican cuisine, particularly the soy chorizo queso and guacamole. The TKO tacos with fried fish and grilled shrimp are also popular choices.
The Sandbar – A Hidden Gem with Award-Winning Flavor If you’re looking for a spot that delivers on both vibe and flavor, The Sandbar is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a laid-back, beachy atmosphere and top-tier service—special shoutout to our amazing server, Sharisse, who was friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. Now, let’s talk about the drinks. The bar serves up a killer cocktail list with fresh ingredients and creative twists on the classics. Whether you’re into something fruity, spicy, or smooth, there’s something on the menu that’ll hit the spot. But the real star of the show? The legendary TKO Taco. It’s not just hype—this taco has rightfully earned its award-winning status. Perfectly seasoned, packed with bold flavor, and balanced with just the right toppings, it’s one of those dishes you think about long after the last bite. From the food to the drinks to the service, The Sandbar nails it across the board. Don’t sleep on this place—you’ll be planning your next visit before you even leave.

I’ve been going to this places an embarrassing amount since discovering it about 3 months ago. The TKO and Beach style tacos are my FAVORITE! You have a choice of portions, I usually get the pork or carne asada. Monthly they have a new drink. This month’s drink is basically a Lychee Margarita. Happy Hour is Monday through Friday, 3pm to 6pm. The happy hour menu is okay but I usually don’t order from it. The tacos come with a small portion of chips and salsa, so no need to order any if you are getting tacos. The wings are great!! There is an upstairs patio area that’s great during the day. They have restrooms on both floors. The entrance and downstairs restrooms are easy to access and seem wheelchair accessible.

Stopped by Sandbar and had a great experience. The service was solid and the food hit the spot. We started with chips, guac, and salsa—fresh, crunchy, and flavorful. The tacos were the highlight, especially the Surf n Turf taco. That one stood out the most—packed with flavor and perfectly balanced. Overall, it’s a fun spot with good food, good service, and a relaxed vibe. Definitely worth checking out if you’re craving tacos and a cold drink.

The seafood tacos were made with fresh ingredients- overall quite delicious! Prices were a bit on the higher end but as expected for a place next to the beach. Service was friendly however the music was extremely loud and it was difficult to hear my group. Luckily they adjusted the volume after I made a complaint. Everyone in my group liked their dishes (I.e., covered tater tots, meat tacos).

Best deal on Mission beach is Taco Tuesday at the Sandbar, great tasting tacos at a discount on Tuesday’s. Lots of screens for viewing, open concept seating, indoor/ outdoor and an upstairs area. Had a drink and food and tipped well, my wife and I still got out of there for under $40, fantastic deal!

Came here with the kids. The staff was attentive and were quick to seat us and bring our food. I had the mussels which were amazing. We also tried the corn dogs and the Birria tacos. Everything came out accurate and delicious. We will definitely be eating here again when we come to San Diego. The restaurant was clean and so we're the bathrooms.

Roberto's Mexican Food in Del Mar is a popular spot for Southern California-style Mexican cuisine. Located near Torrey Pines Natural State Reserve, it offers a variety of delicious options such as taquitos, burritos, and tacos. The outdoor patio with picnic tables provides a great setting to enjoy the greasy but tasty Mexican grub. Visitors can savor the unmissable chips and guacamole while taking in views of the beach and occasional military helicopters.
Solid Mexican food in the border right by the beach. Thought the pork in the taco was a bit dry but solid flavor and the salsa was great - they also have quite a few options to choose from. Note that while the tacos are quite pricey, they’re also massive so 2 tacos are enough for a meal. There’s definitely a bit of a line around lunchtime but service is pretty quick.
Zachary Z — Google review
Roberto's Mexican food was an overall disappointment to me. I must say though, I had excellent customer service from a young man there but my friend was not treated as well by the next cashier. I ordered a fish burrito that had a VERY overcooked super thin partially dried out breaded fish filet inside an overcooked and partially dried tortilla. I also had a horchata drink that was the worst watered-down horchata I've ever had from a Mexican food place. They don't offer free condiments like pickled carrots and jalapenos like other Mexican fast food places do. It’s $3 for a small baggie. I was there with friends so I didn't return my food which I would have had I had more time being there on my own. For what I had, the prices were ridiculous.
Frank C — Google review
I have been coming here since I was a child and it’s always good. A great variety of options too
Tova E — Google review
After first discovering this spot through a DoorDash order, I was impressed enough by their California Burrito to make a return visit in person—and I’m glad we did. This time, my daughter and I got to enjoy the food fresh off the grill, and it was even better than we remembered. I went with the California Burrito again, loaded with extra carne asada and chipotle sauce, while my daughter opted for the Arizona Burrito—a Cali-style wrap with grilled chicken instead. Both were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. The only real challenge was finding parking during the busy lunch rush, but the warm, friendly service from the two ladies at the counter and the incredible flavor of the food made it worth every bit of effort. If you’re in the area and craving a satisfying burrito, this is definitely the place to go.
Jeremy G — Google review
Service was good, not that much parking available but that’s normal in this area. We tried this place out since there were a lot of positive reviews and a long line however the food is subpar. The burritos had no flavor. The California burrito we got was not even heated all the way through and was served cold. The hashbrown burrito was the normal egg and bacon however it was not seasoned as well. It was ok. Not bad but way too overhyped. We don’t recommend
Zakira P — Google review
Always eat here when i am in San Diego. Great outside eating area and super friendly people. The salsa is great. The habanero salsa will burn your face off, but is addicting and delicious. Cool views of the backside of Torrey pines.
Kelly M — Google review
It’s been years since I’ve been here, but I used to come almost every day after surfing. The food is AMAZING, and fresh, flavorful, and delicious! Service was great as well. One small suggestion: a sign showing where the line starts would be helpful since there are three entrances. We tried the Cali burrito, Carne Asada burrito, and chips with salsa, everything was fantastic. I’ll definitely be recommending this spot after a Torrey Pines hike or a surf session!
Ada J — Google review
I really wanted to like this place, but its just an overpriced tourist trap. Burritos are small, bland, and way too expensive. The parking is bad. The only perk of this place is the view during the day. Other than that, just don't go here. I think Kotija Jr is way better and only a 5 minute drive from here.

While it may be on the pricier side, visitors praise the delicious food and unique seasonings available at this eatery.
Ok so I went two days in a row and got different things. When I went on Saturday it was plenty of seating, great cashier and parking lot is small but there is street parking. If you like oysters get them, if you like clam chowder get it. The onion rings are for sure some of the best I've had and the blackened halibut was good. Today I had the fish house stew it was good but I prefer the clay chowder, the tko taco, the lobster taco and the fish house shrimp that's on the favorites part of the menu were so delicious, food Is fresh, atmosphere is chill, I will definitely be back.

The food was very good. Slipper lobster taco 4/5. Mahi taco 5/5. Ahi taco 4/5. Fish shop clam chowder 5/5. Fries 4/5. Ambiance was very nice with open seating and plenty of sunshine. Very helpful staff. The only drawback is the location is easy to miss and the prices are a bit high. The higher prices do not take away from the portion size so that's nice.

Smoked Salmon sandwich with fries ~ delicious! Sit inside and still feel like you are outside, but you can sit outside. Order at the counter, find a seat, and your food will come to you.

Pricer than I expected. I showed up around noon on a Thursday, it was pretty empty. The dining room was well maintained and clean, but flies will show once the food is on the table, so don't leave your food unattended. I recommend the blackened seasoning. The onion rings were out of this world: crispy batter while maintaining the slight onion texture. I also recommend putting the mixed gain rice in the chowder. The two complement each other very well. For the price, I'd like to see a bigger piece of fish and more clams in the chowder... If you ever had the chowder in Maryland, you know what I am taking about.
Johnny W — Google review
10/10 fan of this place from my initial visit approximately two weeks ago. Had some friends in town and I remembered seeing a few casual seafood joints around Point Loma, including this one. Finally got to go and was well pleased. I thought the pricing was reasonable. I did order quite a bit of food for just myself so my family got to try it when I got back home and they were all big fans. Definitely recommend. I also appreciate that besides some beers on tap, they also serve a few cocktails. I definitely recommend this joint and would like to come back some time. I also have to give kudos to the staff for their patience since my friends and I were so caught up in conversation, having not seen each other in awhile, we hadn’t realized we had stayed past closing. The main waitress serving food out front elected to start cleaning first which did give us the chance to realize about a half hour past that the rest of the restaurant was empty. We were definitely a bit embarrassed but appreciate being allowed the time to catch up with each other. Side notes, I appreciated that they went beyond the basic clam chowder for their soup offerings. Now, I did get clam chowder as it’s a personal favorite, but they did also have a fish stew and a clam chowder with sausage listed. (There might have been another? My memory is hazy on this.) I also liked that besides the main schtick of the menu, that seems to be choosing your seafood type and then how you have it served etc, there’s also some prelisted combinations. The friends I was meeting, don’t have seafood often so they were a bit overwhelmed by the options in that section of the menu and they liked being able to choose a combination already preset.

This is some of the best fish I have ever tasted. So much so that I went twice while visiting San Diego. While here, I got the Sea Bass with the Fish Shop Flavoring and Garlic Butter. I got it as a sandwich, and then I also got it plated. I liked it plated the best, but you can’t go wrong with a sandwich either. This will be a go to spot when I visit out here.

Lola 55 Tacos & Cocktails is a trendy spot known for its gourmet tacos and craft cocktails. The industrial-chic counter serve with a lounge area adds to the unique dining experience. Locals rave about the juicy, mesquite-grilled Filet Mignon Tacos topped with avocado mousse, smoky pasilla salsa, crispy leeks, and jalapeno toreado.
Seriously good, upscale tacos! I come here at least once a month and I have never disappointed. Their fish taco is excellent! Also, they have two killer veggie options if you don’t want meat. I like meat but still sometimes prefer their cauliflower taco. The beans, the rice, and the drink selections are also quite good. Seriously good food, cannot recommend enough!

Lola 55 nails the craft taco vibe, lively room, polished service, and the Michelin Bib Gourmand nod makes sense. Our spread hit all the notes, crisp Caesar, juicy chicken tacos, a steak taco, one Baja fish, the kids quesadilla, and the Tres Hermanas. The standouts were the fish and the beans, both among the best I have had, the fish perfectly crisp and flaky, the beans silky, deeply seasoned, and addictive. Shout out to Arlene, warm, knowledgeable, and generous with details about the vibe and the food. She also shared how they evolved from self-serve to full service, and you can feel that in the hospitality. Five stars from me. It is not my everyday go-to, I lean super healthy most days, but when I want excellent tacos with real care behind them, this is where I am coming.

First of all, I know the food is the most important thing in a restaurant, but the service was just INCREDIBLE. I feel bad I don't remember her name, but our waitress was so kind, attentive and just so energetic, me and my gf loved her. Now the food. Carnitas tacos were the best tacos I HAVE EVER HAD. A perfect combination of salty, acidity from what I think were tomatillos, and crunchy. They had a special pozole which was phenomenal too. Their fish taco is really famous. Disclaimer, I don't like fish tacos, but we still ordered and it was the best one I've had ever. Personally I would still stick with the carnitas and steak, but if you do enjoy them, it is indeed very flavorful. Overall 10/10 experience, if we didn't live in Chicago, we would become regulars without a doubt.
Paulo K — Google review
The smoked carnitas, beans and rice are great. Every other taco I've tried there is just okay. The staff yesterday had zero tequila knowledge and didn't know what a ramekin lid was.. Also was quoted a certain price for tequila only to realize they charge 3 bucks extra for a neat pour, I get it, usually 2 oz and not 1.5. But then I got charged another 3 bucks for a rocks pour. Not sure if this is how the business wants to do it or if it was an employee mistake. Either way, they need to train their people more. This spot used to be amazing, not so much anymore sadly
Andrew M — Google review
Great place for tacos! The tacos were delicious. They have a machine making corn tortillas, and they come ready with sauce, so no need for extra lime or hot sauce. I had steak, pork belly al pastor, and a fish taco, all very filling. The tacos felt elegant but tasted great. I looked them up online are featured in the 2022 Michelin guide which makes sense after trying the food. I will be back soon.
Daniel P — Google review
We swing in for the happy hour and got the cauliflower taco and beer. It was nice that they had a few vegiterian/vegan options for tacos that were unique. The cauliflower one had an eggplant bacon that added a nice crisp and smoky flavor. The beer was just okay but they arent a brewery so I wasnt expecting it to be amazing. The staff was pretty quick and friendly and had a few recommendations that were helpful as well. Overall a nice place to grab a bite.
Conner J — Google review
Stumbled upon this unassuming eatery on a sunny Thursday afternoon, and it turned out to be some of the best tacos I’ve ever had. The open, airy ambiance made for a relaxed and inviting setting, and the service was truly top-notch. Our server, Caleb, was fantastic—passionate and deeply knowledgeable. He enthusiastically shared the story behind the restaurant and dove into the thought and technique behind each dish, from preparation to seasoning. They also have an excellent happy hour. I especially loved the spiced Jamaica—a beautifully aromatic drink infused with anise and warming mixed spices. It struck a perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and floral notes. As for the food—absolutely unforgettable. The Squashroom and Cauliflower tacos are two of the most inspired vegetarian tacos I’ve ever had. The Squashroom features a delicately battered lion’s mane mushroom paired with a squash blossom, bright verde salsa, and a bold red chili paste. It’s a mesmerizing harmony of textures and flavors. The Cauliflower taco might have been my favorite. Smoky, crispy cauliflower meets a crunchy eggplant “bacon” strip, all topped with a deeply flavorful sweet-and-tangy mole. The fresh corn tortillas elevate every bite—they’re the perfect vehicle for all these bold, creative flavors. I also tried the Baja Fish taco, which was equally impressive. The fish was fried to perfection—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside—accompanied by a spicy salsa, tangy tartar sauce, and a touch of mesclun greens for freshness. An incredible combination. In short: this place is doing something truly special. Innovative, intentional, and absolutely delicious. Someone give them their Michelin star already!

I had such a great experience at this taco spot! The flavors were incredible—fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned meats, and tortillas that tasted homemade. Each taco felt thoughtfully put together, and the variety on the menu made it easy to try something new. The staff was welcoming and friendly, and the service was quick without feeling rushed. The atmosphere was casual and inviting, making it a great place to grab a meal with friends or family. Definitely one of the best taco places I’ve been to—I’ll be coming back for more! 🌮✨

I only had happy hour so it's based on that. I found the food ok but I have a lot better at similar style places thus the mediocre rating. These places that try to "fancy" taquerias, have to be exceptional for me to rate high. For me, this was not that. The bartender, Cruz was great. Very outgoing, customer oriented. The vibe is nice with the inside/outside option so you can can take advantage when the weather is good.

First Visit, Sat at the bar, people sitting in either side of me uninterested in conversation (talking amongst themselves). Prefer friendly conversation at bars. Sunday at 4:30pm They start all night Happy Hour at 5 on Sundays. Got the Casero Margarita at 5:10pm and the Baja Fish Taco (didn’t love it—fish fried in old grease—you can tell by the color). Guacamole was delish (unfortunately ordered before HH, but it’s only $1 off at HH). Chips and Salsa is pretty good—tried the green and the spicy in addition to the house. Margarita was ok. Looks like a nice atmosphere in the dining areas. Bar was ok—seats not that comfy. Parking not bad—shared with several restaurants and businesses.

This was a great find. Outside patio was a wonderful place to spend the evening. Food was a step above any Mexican food in the area. Attentive server and craft margaritas were great! Wonderful place hidden in a strip mall.

Best shrimp tacos I've had so far. Nice place, chill, chic. Nice outdoor patio area. Great happy hour, all day Monday and my server was great, thanks, Jaimee. I have had the other tacos and they aren't as good as the shrimp in my opinion, lack seasoning. But, I'll be back.

Casero is hands down one of our favorite Mexican spots in North County! The food is always fresh and flavorful, the margaritas are top-notch, and the atmosphere is so inviting. The staff makes you feel genuinely welcome - they remember faces, greet you with a smile, and treat you like family every time. It’s the kind of place you can come for a casual dinner or bring friends to celebrate. Always a great experience!

Casero never disappoints! The food is incredible - everything tastes super fresh and made with care. The vibe is fun but still relaxed, and the staff makes you feel like part of the Casero family the minute you walk in. It’s one of those places where you can tell everyone loves what they do. Definitely one of our go-to spots in Carlsbad!

Kikos Place Seafood is a popular food truck in Downtown San Diego, known for its high-quality Mexican seafood. Originating from Baja California in 1983, this place offers a variety of delicious dishes such as ceviche and fish tacos. The spicy octo taco is a must-try, featuring chile oil and grilled onion on a corn tortilla. Their Mission Valley location serves classic Baja California cuisine with entrees topped with creamy chipotle sauce.
The food is great, best prices for fish and shrimp tacos, especially the fish tacos men there the best, soft and juicy 😋 plus you get a free small consome ( soup ) for free, is the bommmmmb but don't take my word for it, stop by and give them a try 😋

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 out of 5 It honestly pains me to leave a 3-star review. This was my first time visiting this food truck, and I came ready to support a local business. We placed a pretty good-sized order—3 fish tacos, 3 shrimp tacos, 2 sides of chips, and 1 drink—and we left a generous tip. I even attached our receipt to show this isn’t meant to be harsh, just an honest experience. When we arrived, there were about six people in front of us. I expected a wait, which ended up being 29 minutes. That didn’t bother me too much—if the food was as good as advertised, I figured it would be worth the time. Sadly, it just didn’t live up to the hype. The fish tacos were said to be made with fresh fish, but the batter was heavy and greasy. All I could taste was oil and coleslaw. The overall flavor was bland—no acidity, no seasoning, no balance. The shrimp tacos were the same story. The shrimp were chewy and overcooked under the batter. Honestly, if you didn’t know which was which, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the fish and the shrimp—just fried grease dominating everything. On top of that, the setup for customers could definitely use some care. There were only 3 or 4 stand-up tables and 2 canopies for shade. While I waited for my order, I noticed several elderly customers with walkers also standing around with nowhere to rest. It was uncomfortable and honestly a bit disheartening to see. If they invested some effort into the area where people wait and eat—especially for those who might need to sit—it could make a huge difference. A more welcoming and comfortable space could really help attract and retain customers. I really hate leaving critical reviews, especially for small businesses. But this wasn’t a cheap meal, and it didn’t feel like it was made—or served—with much love. I hope this is taken as constructive feedback. I want to see this place succeed, but there’s room for improvement.
Ryan R — Google review
Glad I tried it, but not worth the hype. Price I’m not the only one bothered by the price, judging by other reviews. For the size of the tacos, it’s expensive. I’ve seen recent pictures of the menu and the prices just keep creeping up. Atmosphere It’s a food truck on the side of the road. They have 3 tables and a tiny but of shade. Service They confused my order a bit, but otherwise it’s good. Food The Saturday special - shrimp and New York steak taco with cheese and bacon and avocado was very good. The fried shrimp taco was also decent. The fish ceviche seemed fresh. I wasn’t a fan of their fish tacos. Not much fish and pretty pricey. Don Bravo in La Jolla still makes the best fish tacos. Also thought that their tortillas in general didn’t taste that good. Would I recommend? Sure, it’s popular for a reason. Will I return? No, I don’t have a desire.

Kikos is amazing. Been coming here since I was in high school. They have moved around a little bit but have settled at this location across the street from food 4 less and chick filet in mission valley. Never can go wrong with the OG fish tacos. Good portion size, decent price, tastes amazing. The seafood soup they give you while waiting is just divine. Always on point at Kikos. Staff are awesome and friendly. There is a little canopy if you want to eat there. My family and I just have a little car food party and eat our delicious tacos nearby. All in all, awesome food, amazing staff, really awesome experience every time.

I had a stop by today to catch the taco fish deal that they offer on Tuesday, after all the compliments that I've heard from my classmates. It turned out that they have all different deals for the rest of the week so it's GREAT!. They are at the corner before you make a right turn to Mission Center street from Hazard Center street so don't miss the street parkings on Hazard Center right side. The guy staffs were quick, friendly, especially their manager named Jorge he talked to me for a while after learning that I came for the first time, he has great respect and nice customer service I've ever seen from all the street food vendors and taco trucks which I had. I had their 2 fish tacos and only paid the price of 1 and free soup. By the time I just finished my purchase the order was ready, that's so fast and impressive! They have lots of sauces and sides also seemed to be different to other taco trucks which I had before and especially they have spicy sauces for those who love the heat like me. The place was very clean and professional 👌, they seemed cleaning up all the time when I was there. I'm coming back for more options and humble, friendly staffs and great customer services and highly recommend for everyone!

The best seafood! Its a good truck so you wouldn't think much of it but let me tell you, it's! the! best! I could eat here every single day. They have whole fried shrimp that just they best thing you'd have anywhere. I had the cocktail shrimp and omg! I eat everything in that cup. My husband even wanted to go back every day we were in SD.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Kiko’s Fish Tacos is hands down one of the best food trucks I’ve ever eaten at! The fish is always fresh, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right—crispy on the outside but tender and flavorful on the inside. The tortillas taste homemade, and the toppings bring everything together with just the right balance of crunch and freshness. The portions are generous, the prices are super fair, and the service is always friendly and welcoming. You can tell they really care about the food they serve and the people they serve it to. The manager Jorge was also really nice! If you’re anywhere near this truck, do yourself a favor and stop by—you’ll be hooked after the first bite. I've been coming here for years, and it's easily my favorite fish taco 🌮🐟🔥

Tin Fish is a casual seafood chain offering a variety of dishes such as fish tacos, oyster po' boys, burgers, and chicken. Located at the end of the Imperial Beach Pier with water views all around, it's known for its best-selling fish and chips made with lightly buttered cod coated in their secret breading mix called 'Gold Dust.' The menu also features grilled or fried salmon in various meal options like salads, platters, tacos, burritos, and sandwiches.
wow this little restaurant was well worth the walk down the pier. The food was amazing and so were the views. I would definitely recommend anyone visiting the area make this a stop for lunch. Be sure to bring your windbreaker since it can be pretty windy out there. Don't miss out on this treasure if you're in the area, we got the fish and chips and the clam chowder and would recommend them to anyone.

One of my favorite places to eat I've ever been to! Great food, great price, great friendly staff!! Came in from out of town and decided to check it out. Even though was close to closing time they took my order and let me eat inside and never said anything about closing soon or anything, I didn't realize until I was finished eating. Hard to find places this good and friendly now adays, can't wait to go back!

Perfect little low-key place to grab great fried fish and a cold beer and just sit on Imperial Pier and watch the ocean and the people and all the things going on. The guy who took our order was very friendly and the food came very fast! The beer was huge and very tasty. I visit this place every time I come to San Diego and it has gone through some changes over the years, but it is still one of my favorite places

Gave four stars due to there is no sign pointing in the direction of the restaurant. Navigation just says, arrived and out of the mini restaurants located in the same area. You have to figure out where this particular restaurant is located. Restaurant is located at the end of a fishing pier as you walk down people are catching and cleaning fish. Owner was very nice and attentive, food was really good, and is cooked to order. Plenty of outdoor seating on the pier limited inside seating.

We decided to walk down the Imperial Beach pier and try the Tin Fish restaurant. We ordered the 6 piece fish and chips. The breading on the fish is a cornmeal batter and it came with a small dish of Cole slaw and waffle fries. We eat out a lot, so we are kind of picky. This isn't our favorite style of fried fish, but it was decent, cooked well and a reasonable price. The fries looked to be frozen fries, but were crispy and cooked perfectly. Actually, it was a lot of food for the price. My husband and I shared the meal. The views were excellent and the dining area and pier were remarkably clean for a pier. Service was excellent. They were quirky and fun when they called our name over the intercom to come pick up our food at the window.

El Viejon Seafood is a must-visit spot with fast service and limited seating. The food is incredibly fresh and delicious, with generous portions that won't disappoint. The El Viejon Seafood Tower is a standout dish, offering a delectable variety of seafood that's more than enough for two people. Even non-seafood lovers are impressed by the quality here. The crispy El Viejon Fries and other dishes like octopus plates and pork belly tacos are equally delightful.
Came in for some seafood. All was tasty and great service. The speciality tacos were great and the seafood tower was a lot of food.

Came here for the food. But the vibes took it to another level. beer and tacos and reggaeton music! Head boppin while in line! Food was great! This little hole in the wall restaurant sells amazing food. We had birria tacos 🌮 the serve them with broth on the side. My husband ordered La Torre he loved it. It is pretty big for two people. The parking lot is small so be ready to wait a little.

Came here on a whim for a late night snack. We wanted to get the seafood tower but the price has gone up to $45 which doesn’t make sense for just the two us so we got the ceviche ($17) which was equally delicious. At 7pm, they have tacos and techno menu. The music changed from hip hop to techno. We ordered Al pastor, birria and lengua. Meats were soft, tender and flavorful. They serve breakfast items until noon and have Taco Tuesday specials. I would come more often but parking is such a pain in the free lot. You’ll have to go to the paid parking structure and I recommend parking on the top outdoor level where it’s more spacious.

I’m giving this restaurant a well deserved five stars for an incredible dining experience last Sunday night! We arrived around 8 PM, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting with just the right amount of buzz, perfect for a cozy evening out. The place wasn’t overly crowded which made it easy to settle in and enjoy the meal without feeling rushed. For my first course I decided to try ceviche for the first time, and it was an absolute revelation. The dish was bursting with bright tangy flavors, perfectly balanced with a fresh zesty kick that danced on my taste buds. The seafood was impeccably fresh and the citrusy marinade had just the right amount of acidity to make every bite refreshing and memorable. It was such a delightful introduction to ceviche and I’m already looking forward to having it again! Then came the seafood tacos and let me tell you, these were some of the most elite tacos I’ve ever had. I ordered three different ones: a shrimp taco, an octopus taco, and one that combined both. Each was a masterpiece in its own right. The shrimp taco was plump and juicy with a subtle sweetness that paired beautifully with the vibrant toppings, fresh cilantro, a squeeze of lime, and a creamy sauce that tied it all together. The octopus taco was a standout with tender perfectly cooked octopus that had a slight char and a smoky depth I couldn’t get enough of. The combo taco was the best of both worlds blending the textures and flavors in a way that felt indulgent yet balanced. The tortillas were soft, warm, and just sturdy enough to hold all the generous fillings without falling apart. I ended up eating way more than I planned because every bite was so flavorful and satisfying. This place is a gem and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone craving fresh bold seafood dishes!
Aakash K — Google review
Limited parking outside the restaurant but cars do move in and out quickly enough. Not many tables in the restaurant but there’s some tables outside the restaurant too. The seafood tacos are really good and the octopus is soft and flavorful. Drinks are good too.

I'm not a big seafoody, but I love this place, says alot. Me and wife ordered El viejon Fries came out very crispy with very light but tasty batter. It had smoked fish, shrimp, pork belly! It may have had scallops too, but it was out of this world. Wife also ordered an octopus plate, she said it taste good, along the pork belly taco, fish taco and cheese birria nachos. Yeah, over ordered! I think this is officially my 3 top Mexican restaurant/ shop in SD being here for 40+ years. My 2 kids had side of fries, demolished it and they are picky. When we left, manager ask how was food, we are coming back soon (=.

Georges at the Cove is a renowned restaurant in La Jolla, California, known for its New American cuisine and elegant ocean-view setting. The restaurant has gained recognition locally, nationally, and internationally for its gourmet dishes, beverages, and exceptional service. Using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, Georges offers innovative and unique dishes that have earned them a stellar reputation.
If you want to enjoy a delicious meal overlooking an absolutely stunning ocean view then make a reservation at George’s at the Cove We were lucky to snag a table just at the edge of the upstairs balcony, but to be honest, when you’re up there, there really isn’t a bad seat. Even aside from the incredible views, the rooftop restaurant offered a solid ambiance/vibe. The decor, fixtures, bar, etc were all trendy and clean The staff were great. We didn’t have to wait long to be seated, we ordered almost immediately, and our food came out in a timely manner. We also sat and enjoyed the views and conversation a bit after we finished eating, and our server came by to check on us but we never felt pressured to leave The menu offers something for everything. We shared the rock fish tacos and their burger. Both were hearty and very flavorful. I would also recommend the chips and guacamole/salsa. I didn’t love the salsa flavor, but the guacamole was solid Some tips: Definitely consider making a reservation and ask if you can request a table that overlooks the water. There is only street parking and garage parking. We circled around a few times before parking at the nearby parking garage. But be warned, it’s $30 to park there. But after you eat, walk down to the cost and explore the La Jolla cove, the sea caves, see the seals, and explore some of the parks along this scenic stretch of coastline Cheers!!

Go for the view, food maybe! They have the right combinations, right ideas however food sometimes felt like it missed the mark. Cocktails are decent. I would recommend the spicy pina margaritas and you cannot go wrong with the watermelon feta salad. Optimally priced for California standards.

Always enjoying George’s and this time was great as well. We always order the Famous Soup. Cocktails were wonderful and chocolate desert was fantastic. View doesn’t disappoint. Shoutout to Tina for doing a phenomenal job catering and serving my family. I forgot the manager name but he also gave some great recommendations to eat. This is a special place I bring special people who have visited me in San Diego over the years. The view …..wooow the atmosphere is the same as I remember years ago when I stayed here. You see the seagulls flying waves crashing and every once in a while a sea lion shouting to the rooftop!! Food and customer service let’s just say there are levels when it comes to dining establishments. This place is a gem not just in La Jolla but in SD county Our order: George Special Soup 7 out of 5 I’m from and have stayed in some bbq places TX NC MS smoked meat is smoked do not expect a smoked bbq flavor. I digress because doesn’t have a smoked flavor doesn’t mean it doesn’t taste good it Fuego! Lots of depth to the soup amazing broth flavor and it’s worth every dime Lamb Chops 5 out of 5 Crazy outrageously tender flavorful. The couscous is delightful super light and refreshing perfect I mean perfect for a summer dish. Pomegranate and plums as an element I was not expecting. Only downside to the dish was the crunch of the seed I could have done without but the freshness and playful flavor it adds is nice tho! Yellow Fish with Green beans 4 of 5 Fish was tasty and also refreshing more citrusy like flavor. Green beans were basically raw not cooked. Ooooooou we that grilled eggplant was seared and flat out delicious Great experience overall nice weather cool breeze and conversation. This spot can easily be considered fine dining but they make it feel casual and laid back like San Diego truly is!

Point Loma Seafoods, a family-owned establishment by the Christianson family, began as a small seafood purveyor in 1963. Over the years, it has expanded to become a popular casual spot offering favorites like fried fish and crabcakes. The present building was constructed in 2010 on the original footprint, providing indoor seating and an upper patio with stunning views of San Diego cityscape and the bay.
Nice view. Love the raw clams, crab cocktail, clam chowder, fish tacos. Don't order raw oysters. I find them dry and tasteless. I'd better off getting raw oysters from Wholefoods.
Hannah F — Google review
Folks have been coming here for the past 20+ years and always look forward to getting the fish and chips. Unfortunately, the prices have sky rocketed while the portions have shrunk. The cod was still very tasty, lightly breaded and the clam chowder was still delicious. There is plenty of seating inside and outside and the guys at the counter were helpful and friendly. Overall, still very good quality but the portion size and big increase in price may have the folks trying out a new seafood place in the future.
Lias H — Google review
Edit: My husband just threw up 3x directly after eating here today. ------------------------- The worst whole belly clams I've ever had in my life. First they came out in literally a huge, wet blob. We tasted one and it was fishy and just looked off. We brought it back and they gave us a new box that was beautifully fried - until we ate them and they were so disgustingly salty we couldn't believe it. AND they were still a bit fishy tasty. We stomached the biggest pieces and left the smaller one because it was like eating literal salt. We were a larger table and by the time we all got one and realized how gross they were, we felt bad complaining again, especially since they already replaced it and there was less than half left. We trashed the rest. Pic attached. $30 wasted. We then realized they used the same horribly salty breading for the soft shell crab which we also ended up throwing away. We have a theory that since both were on the "specials" board that the items are actually old seafood and they tried to mask the fishiness with extra salt. The clam chowder is very, very plain with not many clams but lots of potatoes. They get 2 stars for the amazing scallops and, of all things, the...cole slaw. I would never come here again though.
Mary W — Google review
Excellently selection of seafood. Especially several types of smoked fish. I had the cod plate. Slightly overcooked but tasty. They use a cornmeal type crust which i prefer over beer battered. If you prefer beer battered this is not your place. Enjoy.

This is a pretty good spot to get some seafood and enjoy the beautiful view of the marina. We grabbed a table upstairs and had an amazing view at sunset. The food is pretty good. There are lots of fried options. I wish they had some more that were not fried. But I tried the Caesar salad with Ahi and the shrimp cocktail. Both were delicious. They also had affordable wine options that you could drink there or take to go.

Second time here but it’s been 7 yrs since our first visit. Wife was craving for some fish/chips and clam chowder. Ordered the following: Combo Plate (2 pcs cod, 2 pcs shrimp and 1 crab cake) plus fries and coleslaw - I know the plate comes with tartar and cocktail sauce but it doesn’t mean you don’t need to season the butter/breading anymore. Don’t expect too much crab meat on the crab cake. Coleslaw doesn’t have taste at all. Where’s the seasoning Chef? I saw a lot of seasonings for sale though that should had been use in the kitchen. 3/5 Clam chowder - $7.42 (bowl) that lacks seasoning and mostly potatoes. We also prefer chowder on the thicker side so won’t order if we ever decides to comeback. 3/5 Plenty of parking spots during our 1030AM early lunch. Customer service was great. View was amazing but disappointed with food quality.

Point Loma in San Diego is an absolute gem and one of the most picturesque spots in the city. Whether you're a local or visiting for the first time, the marina offers a peaceful yet vibrant atmosphere, especially as the sun sets and the harbor lights come alive. The scene is stunning with rows of docked boats, twinkling lights reflecting on the calm water, and charming little electric boats glowing in neon—perfect for a romantic evening or a relaxing night out with friends. The area is clean, safe, and easy to navigate, with plenty of boat rental options and nearby restaurants to grab a bite or a drink. There's something magical about the blend of city lights in the distance and the serene waterfront setting that makes Point Loma feel like a hidden coastal escape right in the heart of San Diego. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind, take beautiful photos, or enjoy the best of San Diego’s coastal charm.

Very disappointed in the quality of food we were served during our most recent visit. Arrived about an hour before closing & ordered 2 ‘Fish Plate’ (Cod) dinners & soft drinks. French fries were soggy & ‘somewhat’ warm. Breading on the fish was very ‘tough.’ We were greeted by friendly & attentive staff. Dining room was spotless, condiments in good supply & items were clean and in good order. Restrooms on outside of the building are in poor condition, though this may not be the responsibility of the restaurant. After spending $45. for two dinners prepared so poorly, decided we’re not returning. Today, meals are too expensive and there are better dining options nearby.

Our group from work met here to celebrate a retirement (from the Navy) and promotion to another military base. Large group but service was friendly, courteous and on point. I ordered the Islander Ahi Poke and a Cool Beans Coffee Stout to wash it down. Perfect combination for a "lite" lunch.

Norte Mexican Food is a low-key restaurant in Carlsbad, CA that offers a variety of Latin American cuisine, including nachos, tortilla soup, tostadas, chimichangas, and albondigas. The atmosphere is described as fun and lively on weekends. Customers have enjoyed prompt and attentive service along with delicious food served at the right temperature. Some patrons recommend visiting during early bird hours for limited-time discounts on the same great food.
Awesome awesome awesome. We had a wonderful party here with about 40 friends with taco bar and happy hour. The food was delicious and the drinks were great! I love this place.
Lyn K — Google review
We had an ok experience at Norte's Mexican Restaurant! My husband ordered a simple bean and cheese burrito since he just wanted a light bite, but somehow it was amazing. We're pretty sure the tortilla was made in-house because it was incredibly tasty and fresh. The chips and salsa they serve when you sit down are outstanding! The salsa tasted fresh and homemade, though I didn't confirm--but it definitely had that authentic, made-from-scratch flavor. I ordered the nachos without meat, and they were so generous that I had enough to take home for lunch the next day. The best part? They were still delicious the next day! We decided to finish with the flan, but it wasn’t what I expected. It was dense instead of tender, and I missed that melt-in-your-mouth caramel texture and flavor I was hoping for. I did finish it, though—mostly because it was $8. The other downside is that they no longer offer discounts to Carlsbad Inn guests, which seems odd since the restaurant and its sign are both on the property

We were staying in the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort, so you couldn't get a closer location for us. If seated outside, it's a really nice setting, with patio heaters if needed. The food was OK, but nothing that exciting. The house margarita was a real disappointment with no taste of tequila, probably the worst margarita of our holiday.
Steve — Google review
Would definitely visit again! Food was delicious- however, I would add more seasoning, like some cilantro, for example, to the steak burrito. Our server was very sweet and the melon margarita was well made.

Really enjoyed my visit to Norte! The burrito I ordered was delicious—hearty, flavorful, and came with plenty of extras on the side, which was a nice touch. The staff were super cheerful and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. On top of that, the atmosphere was really pleasant—lively but not overwhelming.
Luke N — Google review
We were staying a few blocks away so the location was good. Place is cool, with a great patio. Our server was excellent too. That's where the positives end. This was probably the blandest Mexican food I've ever had. Zero flavor. I also had a skinny margarita that was void of anything good. It was also more expensive than a regular marg. Why?? It has less ingredients! This place has been around for over 40 years apparently and honestly I don't know how. There are other reviews like this so I'm not the only one. Please add some flavor and spice!

I grew up within walking distance and have been coming here for decades. It is always wonderful when I get a chance to stop by and grab a bite to eat. Their queso fundido, la pachanga, and their soups are all amazing. Margaritas and tacos are great, too. Be sure to check out their specials on the sandwich board in front of the host stand before you get seated. Their patio has heaters, and it's nice to sit outside and people watch. Highly recommend!

Norte Mexican Food (Carlsbad Village) 🌮 Food Quality: Very Bland, Lacking Authenticity Many diners describe it as “Gringo food” with little to no real Mexican flavor. One recent review said: *“The food was so bland and just poor quality we couldn’t finish it… The burrito had nothing but plain chicken… the sauce was unrecognizable—maybe tomato soup?” Others echo the same sentiment: “Order arrived late… food was bland, not the same as usual.” Some even critique the salsa and sides: “salsa tasted like pizza sauce,” “off ‘old oil’ taste to the rice,” and “guacamole seemed like it had been frozen.” Overall, unless you’re content with generic American-style Mexican dishes, the food here may fall flat. 👍 Service & Atmosphere: A Standout Service gets consistent praise: “Prompt and friendly,” “waiters and waitresses can’t do enough for you,” and “great location to the beach.” Patrons appreciate the laid-back, family‑friendly vibe and the beach‑village setting: “Nice atmosphere outside… even though tourists are their bread and butter, locals love it too.” Verdict: Not Recommended for Flavor, But Friendly Otherwise Category Rating Flavor / Authenticity ⭐ (Bland, unmemorable) Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Friendly, attentive) Ambience ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Beach‑village charm) If you’re after vibrant, authentic Mexican food, Norte may disappoint—it’s often described as “very bland” or “just standard” . However, if you're just looking for friendly service and a casual spot by the beach, it hits those marks well. Final takeaway: Great service, solid vibe—but the food lacks punch. I’d steer clear unless flavor isn't your priority. ⭐ Would not recommend Norte for flavor. 😊 Two thumbs up for the service and atmosphere.

Lucha Libre Taco Shop is a vibrant taqueria located in the Mission Hills area of San Diego, where the spirit of Mexican wrestling meets authentic street-style cuisine. This lively eatery boasts an impressive menu that highlights California burritos, featuring unique fillings like pork adobada and birria.
Got the queso birria. Was pretty good, a little salty for me but the salsa, chips, and ipa went really well together. Definitely recommend. Only thing I wish they had was a plain asada taco with onions and cilantro. Sometimes the basics is all you need to tell if a place is good or not.
Leo V — Google review
These tacos at their core are tasty, well constructed, and unique. The atmosphere is remarkable and service is excellent. However, the sauces on the tacos are a tad overbearing and generally not that tasty. There could also be more meat on the tacos for $6 dollar a pop
Zach S — Google review
Food: Tasty! The birria taco had a real kick to it compared to others I have bad before. I really enjoyed all three tacos that I had. Service: Self checkout with minimal interaction with staff, so defaulting to 5. Atmosphere: Awesome. Just see the other photos. Overall, closing remarks: Delicious food, but doesn't come cheap. Somewhere I will likely be eating at infrequently. My chips didn't come with any salsa or dipping sauce. I might have missed these if they were sitting out for self service. Something to dip them in would have been nice. The chips were hot and good even on their own, though!

First time here in San Diego, and first time at Lucha Libre. I saw a YouTube on this place for good eats. This place was just ok. Unfortunately there was nothing to rave about. I had the Birria Cali, my wife had the Surf Cali, and my son had the Champion Fries with steak. The burritos had too many fries in it and it was the thick soggy fries. The birria lacked taste which was unfortunate. My wife liked her burrito, but still, didn't like the fries. My son's Champion fries was lacking the champion in it. The steak wasn't seasoned that great, and again, lots of soggy fries. It's kind of hard to give a good review after going to Taco El Gordo the night before in Gaslamp.

I love how innovatively they keep introdicing new tacos. They are inventive, all the tacos are delicious, well seasoned. Kids love the burritos. And the salsa bar is a bonus with fresh salsas.

The Fishery is a renowned seafood restaurant located in Pacific Beach, San Diego. It offers an extensive selection of market-fresh sushi, entrees, and seafood sourced locally. The midcentury brick-and-mortar warehouse houses a seafood market and an open kitchen where Chef Mike Reidy prepares seasonal dishes for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. In addition to its seafood offerings, the restaurant also serves excellent beef options like ribeye, filet mignon, and New York strip.
Late night dinner but glad we came! The staff was amazing including our waiter. Comfortable inviting environment that wasn’t too crowded! I usually don’t list things but it feels appropriate here! The clam chowder, and rockfish main course were both memorable dishes. I can’t think of a better chowder or whole fish I’ve had anywhere in my life . The portions were fantastic as well! The fish also came With crispy potatoes that I could literally eat everyday. It really doesn’t get much better than this. The sashimi, calamari and desert were good! But it notably lacked compared to the fish and soup but It’s hard to compare to a culinary triumph such as those. Overall a great dinner. I would definitely come back and try more times. I would come back just for those potatoes.
Daniel M — Google review
If you’re searching for a fresh seafood place in Pacific Beach, the Fishery is the perfect spot. Highly recommend ordering the Milk Punch cocktail with tequila - may be the best alcoholic drink I’ve had. So easy to drink and very enjoyable. For appetizer, you can’t go wrong with the muscles made with a basic curry sauce which has a great balance of flavors. The macadamia crusted halibut served with smashed potatoes and the lemon butter sauce is an absolute must. The handroll was also delicious and flavorful with every bite. We finished with the chocolate torte dessert and their house made amaretto - incredible!! Give the Fishery a shot, you will not be disappointed,

The Fishery delivered an excellent experience overall. Food and ambience were top notch. The swordchop was outstanding and definitely a generous portion for 2 people. Our server was friendly, though a bit slow to check in on us throughout the meal. Seemed to give more attention to other tables.
Dylan G — Google review
Wonderful service and super fresh seafood! We loved the striped prawn and the salmon collar — both were outstanding. The cocktail was refreshing and perfectly balanced. Can’t wait to come back!
Tina D — Google review
The Fishery absolutely nailed every dish we ordered. The Pacific Bluefin steak was flawless - seared to a perfect medium rare with a crisp, flavorful crust and a soft, buttery center that practically melted on the fork. It’s rich but balanced, and you can tell the fish is top quality. The aguachile was just as impressive — bright, clean, and beautifully layered. The mix of pico de gallo, cilantro, radish, and lime gave it a perfect kick of acidity and freshness. It’s the kind of dish that feels both refreshing and deeply satisfying. And the New England clam chowder (off-menu special) was comfort in a bowl — creamy but not heavy, with tender clams and perfectly cooked potatoes. Every plate showed real care and respect for the ingredients. Easily one of the best seafood spots in San Diego. The Fishery’s cocktail program is easily one of the best in San Diego. The Fishery Milk Punch is silky, bright, and perfectly balanced — blanco tequila, yogurt, and clarified milk come together in this smooth, almost weightless texture. The lemongrass note lingers softly, adding a clean citrus finish that keeps it refreshing rather than heavy. Her Name Was Lola is tropical but refined — blanco tequila with coconut, cucumber, and lime. It’s light, crisp, and just sweet enough. The cucumber and lime keep it refreshing while the coconut rounds it out with a soft creaminess. It is a perfect match with aquachile. The lime and cucumber echo the dish’s acidity and crunch, while the coconut smooths out the spice. The City of Music is a mix of gin, spruce tip, aquavit, and spirulina unlike anything else I’ve had. It’s earthy yet bright, with a clean finish that feels both coastal and foresty at once. It pairs nicely with the Pacific Bluefin Steak - the drink’s herbal, slightly resinous notes complement the seared crust and rich, buttery tuna interior.

What a lovely new discovery! We enjoyed a bottle(or two) of wine, stuffed squash blossom appetizer, sea bass, smash “fish” burger, and the fish pasta. All divine! Ended the meal with the pana cotta and affogato dessert!

Great spot in PB with fresh, delicious seafood and cocktails. Docking one star only because the portions are on the smaller side (despite the high $$), but everything tastes fantastic.

I am giving them a 4 and not 5 due to my meal. Nice and quiet during Sunday lunch. The host was cordial and offered the opportunity to select something off the dinner menu. But unfortunately, the chef said No- disappointed….only lunch menu. Which I understand, however most of their selections for lunch are sandwiches, salads, or pasta based items. I love fish and this place was my favorite to go for dinner. Our waitress Eve was cordial but failed to check-in with us. I ordered the macadamia crusted halibut which was cooked well, however it was drenched in a lemon sauce (see pic). So disappointed. I had to ask for a separate plate to enjoy the fresh fish. What they should offer is the sauce (hot temp) on a separately to allow the customer to pours as needed. Recommend dinner and ask how it’s prepared (sauce on the side).

Nestled in the vibrant Mission Beach area, La Playa Taco Shop is a delightful taqueria that captures the essence of authentic Mexican cuisine. With its festive atmosphere and family-friendly vibe, this eatery offers a mouthwatering selection of traditional dishes like carne asada, carnitas, and fish tacos. The freshly-made tortillas are a highlight, perfectly complementing an array of flavorful fillings such as chorizo y papas and papas con huevos.
Stopped in for lunch one day during our trip after reading other reviews. I ordered the carne asada tacos with rice and beans. The tacos were amazing! The meat was flavorful and tender, and the fresh guacamole was some of the best I've tasted. Service was great and the food came out quick. Would definitely stop in again next time we're in San Diego!
Tom G — Google review
My first visit to this restaurant today and I ordered combo #9 - two carna asada tacos with rice and beans. The good: carna asada tacos did not disappoint, the meats tasted juicy, tender and with good flavor. The pico de gallo and guacamole made the tacos taste delicious. The bad: the portion size for rice and beans were tiny, they looked nothing like the photo that showed big servings of rice and beans on the side. The beans I must say tasted watery. Also, to my surprise there wasn’t a salsa bar. So if you want a side of carrots or jalapeño peppers you have to pay. This was pretty disappointing. I still might come back and give them another chance, but next time I probably will just order the tacos only.
Jane S — Google review
Best carnitas tacos in San Diego! I love when the carnitas is crispy but still tender and flavorful. Everything tastes very fresh, the guacamole, the beans, the salsas. Price is super fair. I’m now a regular for sure!
Lucas F — Google review
We had family in town and decided to try this place based on the reviews, but we left pretty disappointed. The woman at the front was fantastic—friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the service. Some in our group ordered the tacos carnitas and said they were just okay—not bad, but nothing they’d return for. I had the shrimp tacos and couldn’t get past the first bite. The shrimp tasted old, like it had been left open in the freezer too long—overcooked, lacking seasoning, and with an odd, unpleasant flavor. It looked like they tried to salvage it with some kind of sauce, but it didn’t help. Even more bizarre, the tacos had greasy rice inside them. It didn’t add anything—just made the texture odd—and was paired with plain cabbage. No avocado, no pico, nothing fresh like the meat tacos had. It felt lazy and unbalanced, like no real effort was put into the dish. The great service and a couple of tolerable meat tacos are the only reasons this isn’t a one-star review. Still, I won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend it.

As San Diego native and a long time resident of Pacific Beach, I highly recommend La Playa Taco Shop. I always get their California Burrito (add sour cream). It's the best of the best when it comes to burritos. Their ingredients are top notch. You won't regret going here!

Cenote Grill is a Californian-Mexican eatery in Escondido that offers a variety of dishes such as tacos, enchiladas, and BBQ pork burritos. Their menu goes beyond the traditional and incorporates healthier ingredients for a unique culinary fusion. The restaurant takes its name from the sinkholes found in Cancun canyons and aims to exceed customer expectations.
This place really needs to get a lit sign or at least point a spotlight on their banner otherwise it's tough to find. This is a great little place that was recommended by a friend and it didn't disappoint! The burritos are awesome, and the staff is incredibly friendly. We waited a while for our food but it was worth it. We all got burritos, and we also got the flan which was by far the best I've ever had and that's saying something. I also highly recommend the poblano soup! It's very rich so a cup is probably fine. I couldn't imagine getting a large bowl of it unless you're sharing it with like two other people and eating something else to mix it up. But it was excellent! Highly recommend this place

A very American Mexican food place. We got seated right away. They brought chips and salsa right away. The salsa that came with. It were very light in heat so I asked for something hotter and they brought two delicious much spicy salsa. Ordered the taquitos à la cart and they were on very thick tortillas And we’re OK. Ordered the shrimp, agave lime dinner platter and they were very sweet and shrimpy. Also ordered the chili Riano and it was 10 out of 10 stars. Absolutely delicious. Also tried the margaritas and they’re a bit sweet.

Cold food, dated cheap ambiance, nice staff. My husband lost his restaurant picking privileges. After choosing this place. We wanted to give a new Mexican place a shot and the photos looked pretty okay. We Go, and from the minute we walk into the minute we leave. We are the youngest people there by about 20 years. It was packed with white people and every one of them was over the age of 60. When your Mexican restaurant and not a single Mexican person eats there, there's a problem. The staff was actually very prompt and courteous and got us seated. The booths have impromptu pads being leaned against them like they are waiting for a real shipment of booths to come in. Also some weird mother earth art on the wall is best as I can guess. But nothing that distinctly said a Mexican restaurant. Immediately gave us free chips and two different kinds of salsa. One tasted like watery tomato paste. The other one tasted vaguely like someone had waived tomatillo at it once and it's life. You order up front. I don't have a problem with that. Our food arrived within a solid amount of time. But my meat was cold to the touch. As if they had made it this morning (gosh I hope it was that morning and not the night before). My cheese was also barely melted. I got a burrito fresco and took two bites and didn't want more. My kids got a shrimp burrito and a fish taco. There was no spice other than cumin in the shrimp burrito. But considering the age of most of the patrons, I'm pretty sure that was on purpose. My other child's fish taco had the batter slide right off of it but it was perfectly fine otherwise. My husband and I were glad that we only had a few bites of our food. We felt queasy the rest of the night and kept chugging Gatorade and burping suspiciously. It would have been a lot worse if we would have actually had more than a few bites of our food. At least with Taco Bell I would have gotten some hot meat and some packets of spice along with my indigestion. I get to pick next time, sorry honey.

Very delicious food! I got the Agave Lime Shrimp Plate and it was sooo good. The wait time for seating and for food was long but we went on a Friday night at 5pm so it makes sense. This place constantly had a line to the door so you know it’s good! Will come again but earlier and not on a Friday.

Cenote grill has very good food specially the spring rolls also the bread pudding is really great and especially for dining I’d say that’s what really makes the restaurant to go back. It’s not just the food went to that restroom and the restroom is very clean so I gotta say they keep a good clean, clean restroom and it looks like their kitchen is clean cause it’s an open kitchen from where customers can see it. Everyone’s very friendly and I gotta say I’m when they come back and it’s a large portion of food for good price but always try to remember to call head if we’re gonna get takeout cause they’re very very busy!
Lance R — Google review
My husband and I decided to try this place after reading the reviews, and a recommendation from a friend. It's a small restaurant with some outdoor seating and a few booths and tables. There are no waiters or waitresses to take your order. When we walked in and approached the front counter we were given menus and instructed to come back to the counter when we were ready to order. They brought us chips and two kinds of salsa. They were both good, but the chips were a bit on the thick side. I ordered the two item combination plate of the pork chili Relleno and the fish taco with Mexican rice and pinto beans. This is the first time for both of us trying this kind of chili Relleno. It is baked instead of fried. It was pretty good, but I guess we just prefer the traditional fried and stuffed with jack cheese type. I didn't care for the rice. It was just too heavy with the spice's for me, not in a hot spice way but just too overpowering. The beans were okay, but again we prefer the traditional refried beans. I don't think we will be back. Service was good!

Great seafood with a view. Many other options available. There is indoor, outside and dog seating (downstairs) available. We sat upstairs during the OB Farmers Market and the activity on the lawn was great. I ordered the tuna wrap, it was huge. My wife had the clam chowder bowl. Both were delicious and served timely. The waitress really knew the menu well when we asked for suggestions. As the temperature dropped they closed the windows to keep the cool breeze at bay.

The beer was pretty good here, nothing special. The view… is amazing. You’ve got the ocean, you’ve got all these surfer bros walking by with their shirts off, dogs… tons of dogs! Dogs and CBP. Tons of CBP driving by too. Anyway, the service was a little shaky but to be fair they were busy. We had to flag them down to get water but they give it to you in this cool little vase looking thing. The fish tacos were excellent, the pretzel bites were perfect bar food, the desert wasn’t bad but I’m not too much of a sweets guy. If I’m in San Diego again, I’m coming here for sure.

Great place to eat and watch the ocean!! The views are outstanding. Lots of people working on laptops in front of the window. I wish the food quality was on par. The burgers came out well done, and fish in fish tacos was on a drier side. However, great guacamole and coconut chicken strips! They also serve a decent variety of draft beer with Cali Creaming being one of them. It is pet friendly 🐕 🐕 🐕 and service was amazing!

I’ve been to Wonderland Pub four times now and every visit has been great. The front room views are second to none — it’s one of the best sunset spots around. Oscars Mexican Seafood is a popular Mexican seafood chain offering a variety of classic and modern tacos, tortas, sides, and sodas. Located in San Diego's Pacific Beach area, this establishment is known for its authentic tacos and guacamole. Customers rave about the amazing food, particularly the smoked fish tacos which are described as the best ever eaten. The menu features a wide variety of seafood options cooked to perfection with lovely sauces.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome that immediately set the tone for an amazing dining experience. The energy of the staff was so genuine—it made us feel right at home. The menu is massive (in the best way), packed with so many tempting options that it was almost overwhelming—but the staff was incredibly patient and helpful, walking us through their recommendations without rushing us. That level of service goes a long way. Let’s talk about the tacos—every single one was absolutely delicious. We started with three each, then went back for three more because we just couldn’t get enough. And we were a group of six, so you can imagine the taco feast we had! These tacos are more on the pricey side, about $6 per taco. This spot came highly recommended, and now we know why. Incredible food, top-tier service, and an overall vibe that makes you want to come back again and again. Don’t skip this place—it’s a must-visit!

Oscars Mexican Seafood is exactly what a San Diego beach day needs. My sister and I swung by, picked up our tacos to-go, and the short stroll back to the sand turned into a feast. The battered fish stayed perfectly crisp, with flaky white fish inside and just the right amount for garnish. The carne asada was tender, fresh-off-griddle, and the al pastor had a sweetness that balanced its spice. Portions were generous, prices fair, and the staff packed everything so well that nothing got soggy on the way. Add in the ocean view and you’ve got a five-star meal you can eat with your toes in the sand. We’ll be back next trip!

Oscar's has great fish tacos. There will be a wait, and seating is limited, but it is well worth the wait. I ordered the surf and turf, and the octopus taco both had amazing flavors .Many in my group had the fish tacos. Everyone enjoyed the food .

The shrimp ceviche, fish tacos, and octopus tacos were fresh and flavorful. The line moved quickly and staff were friendly. They came around with cups of soup while we waited. Prices are very reasonable as well for quality.

Best seafood tacos in town! My favorite is shrimps and octopus. Friendly staff and nice vibe, the restaurant looks even cuter after the renovation. Parking could be tricky at peak hours or on weekends. Perfect after a beach day!

We ordered the Taco Especial, and it was absolutely delicious! The smoky aroma of the fish and shrimp was mouthwatering, and the octopus taco really stood out — it was incredibly soft and tender. Every bite was packed with flavor. We loved it and will definitely be coming back for more!

American restaurant
Farmer's Bottega is a country-chic bar and eatery located in the charming Mission Hills neighborhood. The restaurant offers a farm-to-table dining experience with a menu featuring New American-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner made from locally sourced organic ingredients. The vintage decor creates a rustic ambiance, complete with reclaimed furnishings and dimly lit Edison bulbs. Guests can enjoy their meal in the cozy interior or on the relaxing patio.
I’ve been here a few times and the food is fresh, tasty, consistent and hits the spot always. The sauces are rich in flavor and meat fresh. Pictures include the Bottega Stack, Lemon Poppy pancakes, chilaquiles and All American breakfast combo. They also have a full coffee bar and serve Lattes hey thank you. The service is always excellent. Friendly hosts and servers and the managers as well. The inside is gorgeous.

We stopped in for brunch and had a really nice time! We were seated on the back patio, which is set up inside a charming little greenhouse. It was a bit chilly when we arrived, but they turned on the heat lamps, and it quickly became perfectly cozy. Our server, Gabriel, was kind, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. For brunch, I usually lean more savory, but today a little sweetness was calling my name, so I decided to try the Monte Cristo. I’m glad I did—it was really good, with the perfect sweet and savory balance. That said, it was definitely on the rich side, and I could only make it through half. My husband ordered the Bottega Stack and thought it was good but fairly average overall. The menu features a lot of fresh, farm-to-table inspired options, and there are plenty of dishes we still want to try from both the brunch and dinner menus. Overall, it’s a cozy spot with a great atmosphere, friendly service, and a menu worth exploring—solid 4/5 and we’ll definitely be back!

Good brunch spot that has nice variety of options. I ended up getting the Meatloaf Breakfast Platter that came with toast and three eggs your way. Good flavor and liked the spinach mixed in the meatloaf. We were seated by the front near the window and it got a bit warm but other than that was a nice ambiance. Service was friendly and pretty standard.

We flew in from Florida and were immediately looking for lunch. This little cafe is so cute, the interior decor is very homey and soothing. The food was fantastic! I had meatloaf hash and my friend got the turkey club. Her sandwich was enormous. If we were locals this would be a regular spot for us.

They sat us down in a back patio which was very nice. The service was good. The food was also good I got the buttermilk pancakes. Nice and fluffy. The only thing was the prices. Of course this is California all the prices are high but for 3 pieces of bacon it was 10 dollars. Overall good just pricy.

This is a great restaurant, no reservation needed for brunch and plenty of seating inside. Good portions, and lots of options to chose from. We ordered mimosas and they were great, and I also got a crab cake benedict which was delicious. Loved it and can’t wait to go back!!

This is my favourite restaurant in San Diego. Amazing food, amazing service, amazing patio—-all year round. We’ve been going for 3 years and have an amazing experience every time. Patio is dog friendly. Our 3 year old daughter loves it. Favourite dishes are chicken, short rib, burrata, and all the pastas. Dessert is great too. Definitely worth a visit.

This Farmer’s Bottega location truly excels in every aspect, from the carefully crafted food to the exceptional drink selections. My experience was remarkable. The service was impeccable, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff that went above and beyond. I had made a reservation and was seated promptly, which set a positive tone for the evening. Our server was outstanding, taking extra steps to ensure our comfort throughout the meal. The restaurant's design and decor are stunning, creating an inviting atmosphere. Kudos to the management and their dedicated team for delivering such a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend this place!

The Taco Stand is a popular spot in San Diego known for its authentic Mexican fare, including made-to-order tortillas and guacamole. The Baja Taco, featuring battered fish with cabbage, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and chipotle sauce, is a standout menu item. With locations in La Jolla and Downtown, this taqueria also offers churros and flavored popsicles to enjoy on the go.
This place really has made to order fresh tortillas for every taco and they’re not flimsy or the small street taco taco this is a proper size tortilla, and they fill it. I ordered Carne Asada and the steak pieces were thick and juicy and I also ordered Al pastor which in my opinion could’ve been seasoned a little more and was a little dry compared to Carne Asada steak but all in all it was great, they do have a salsa bar at the far back of The place but overall a good place to eat. Would go again. Also, one of the salsa was just amazing. It was very acidic and it gave a good balance to the tacos. I’m gonna include the picture in here.
Celeste — Google review
First time visiting the area. Based on others reviews I went for a late lunch. More of a fast food setup rather than restaurant style. I got the Mexican corn and one grilled fish taco. The portion size was filling as not to be over full, but if you're really hungry, two tacos would be satisfying. Tasted delicious! All the ingredients tasted fresh. In the back there's a little bar with additional toppings. The service was welcoming and friendly. Less than 5-minute wait for the food although it didn't get busy until after I ordered. In observing, it didn't look like people had to wait very long for their food. You have the option to sit inside or outside. There was a nice breeze, although there is traffic passing by but it wasn't disruptive. There's authentic music playing inside. The bathroom is very clean. And to top it all off, you get a free fountain drink if you give a Google review. I would highly recommend this establishment for authentic fresh, Mexican food.

The Taco Stand is legit. Was recommended by a front desk attendant at a hotel by the bay. The service is good. The food is great. Gotta eat these tacos standing up, with a forward lean…or sitting. Stuffed with good tasting ingredients so you’ll need a few napkins. I had the Baja, Sonoran & Al Pastor tacos. Washed it down with a cold Modelo. There is a salsa bar with plenty of options. Definitely worth a visit.

Can’t express how much I love the food here!!! I have been missing San Diego for all those years because of the California burrito!!! The wrapping is freshly made so it’s stretchy and the beef is juicy. Everything come together perfectly and the portion is no joke! Can’t finish it even at a starving night! Also tried Al pastor and the steak taco today. The roasted pork is so good!!! The steak taco was outshined. Definitely try the Al pastor taco!

We stopped at The Taco Stand for lunch and tried the California burrito — it was excellent: large, filling, and full of flavor. We also ordered chips and guacamole, which were very good. They offer several salsas ranging from mild to hot, so there’s something for everyone. Overall, a great lunch stop.

Absolutely delicious! I had the best al pastor taco and a chorizo and egg breakfast burrito whose size was WELL worth the price - easily 2-3 small meals in one. Fantastic and friendly service. Immaculate vibes (though crowded when busy on a Saturday afternoon like it was). Will be back asap!

I have lived in the Los Angeles area most of my life and boast about the Mexican Cuisine that I have been exposed to and have enjoyed over the years, but my recent trip to San Diego's B St. " The Taco Stand", location blew my mind on how good their Tacos, Burritos, and condiments taste. My companion and I ate at that establishment for three consecutive days. What a winning team and product.

Love this gem of a place! We popped in on a Friday night for drinks and were seated at the back patio bar. Bartenders were awesome and stirring up some excellent cocktails. The whole aura in here is so cool and now I want a giant disco ball covered in silk greens somewhere in my house.

The food here is absolutely ahhmazing! The decor is gorgeous, inside and on the patio. Great music playing at a reasonable level. Impeccable service. We've been twice now for date night and we love it. Highlights this time were the Oaxacan Dip, Refried Pinto Tostada (my fave of the night), and NY Steak on hot rock. We love the corn ice cream, the presentation is so fun. The drinks are on point. Do yourself a favor and get the Dos Ochos. One of the best drinks I've had! This spot is such a lovely experience. We'll keep coming back.

Been there before but never dinner. I love the vibes in this place. The food was okay !!! The best was the chicken cob salad. I don’t like the double decker taco or the duck breast. Not sure if I would come back for the food here. I would come for the vines and dj thou

I ordered the Jugo Jefe. He ordered the Flama Blanca with mezcal. The food is good. The portions are relatively small. The corn ice cream dessert is fantastic! Finally, our server Chloe was very attentive and kind.

We did the mezcal experience and had such a great time—it was personalized to our tastes and made the whole thing feel really special. Afterward, we stuck around for cocktails and dinner, and everything was fantastic. Just a heads-up: the restaurant sits directly under the airport flight path, so it can get a bit noisy and occasionally interrupt conversation. Still totally worth it!

The food at this restaurant is primarily topas style. It’s a good place to get a few dishes and try everyone’s dish. The cocktails were really good. The decorations and vibe was great. The only thing that made me drop them from 5 starts to 4 stars is because of the airplanes. We sat outside and airplanes would fly over to land continuously and it was very loud. Other than that it was great.

I can’t believe I have never been here! Angel was our bartender and he showed us a great time. We played a game of “Uno Happy Hour”. Which was a game of Uno against the bartender and other strangers and the bar. So much fun! I had the chicken, I never order chicken out. This was highly recommended and blew me away! I loved every single bite of it. Brush up on your Uno skills and check it out!

Visitors praise the freshness of the food and highlight the unique soda options made with sugar cane.
Bruh, Fish District was pretty good. That calamari was not overcooked, a little salty but after squeezing them lemons it became zesty for sure. Now those fish sticks tho, it’s crispy with the triple Y are you so good. I also had the mahi tacos and not sorry for not having any pics cause it was already in my belly!

Love to get the fish and chips here and pay a little more to get the 3rd strip of fish. The fries are crispy and delicious. The fish is crunchy on the outside and juicy/tender on the inside. I do have to add salt and pepper to all my food every time I eat here, which makes the food even more delicious. I recommend you check it out.

I definitely recommend this seafood fast food. I highly recommend the New England Clam Chowder, tacos, and poke bowl. Oh don't forget to try the blue berry soda too. Very clean seating area inside and out. The booths are pretty snug if your curvy. Patio is per friendly.

This is one of my favorite spots to grab a quick bite. It's delicious & fresh. They have the best soda machine, all made with sugar cane. Blueberry, vanilla ,coke & natural lemonade flavors! So good I mix the vanilla cream soda with the coke tryout! The restaurant is literally always clean, I've visited many times, and it's always super clear with great service! Please try the clam chowder. It is so well done, chunky delicious! The fish and chips are so good they taste very fresh!!

You can tell everything was made to order. Poke bowl was a little too saucy, but still good. Portobello fries, fish and chips with a generous portion of the caper sauce were perfectly fried. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. If you later in the evening there is no battle for parking and Costco is nearby if you want to gamet gas afterwards

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. I enjoyed the wild-caught traditional wrap. The portion size is enormous, equivalent to two meals. Everything is reasonably priced, so there is excellent value here. The service was friendly, and the restaurant was clean. I'd eat here again!

The food was great, but the service was phenomenal! With it being my first time, the gentleman working gave me a delicious food recommendation and even a drink recommendation. (I combined the blueberry drink with the lemonade.) The food came out quickly. Tasted wonderful! The restaurant was clean and relaxed inside. My friend and I were sitting and talking a lot while we ate, so we were eating slowly. He stopped by to check how we were doing, asked if we needed anything, and cleared some plates from our table for us. It definitely felt friendly and sincere, not like he was trying to rush us out or anything. When we finished and cleared the rest of our table as we left, he wished us a great night and said he hopes to see us back in again. I definitely plan on returning.

Social media said this is one of the spots to check out for Mexican food. It was pretty good I actually came here twice. First time around I got a Carnitas Burrito and a California Burrito (Carne Asada, Fries, Cheese, Guacamole, Pico de Gallo & Sour Cream). Loved the portion sizes and really liked the taste. Next time around I ordered the Caesar Burrito (Caesar Salad, Grilled Chicken, Avocado, Jack Cheese, Tartar Sauce on a Spinach Tortilla) and the Colima Burrito (Carne Asada, Breaded Fish, Guacamole, Salsa Mexicana, Cabbage & Tartar Sauce). Can't go wrong here and would totally recommend!

Went to Colima's for lunch for their special Taco Tuesdays! The place was a bit busy but we ordered and got our food pretty quickly. Got the fish and cabeza tacos for $1.89 each. And also order a Super Wet Burrito for $10.99. Everything was ok, but not that great. The sauce for the burrito was a bit salty and very tomatoe. The guacamole was also very salty too. The prices was good but the food overall was not. Probably won't go back or recommend.

Been coming here for over a decade. This place used to be amazing all around, but unfortunately over time the quality of many dishes has gone downhill. Ever since they stopped cooking their carne asada outside on the grill, it’s been chewy and lacking that fresh grilled flavor. The lengua is also not what it used to be. We still come through for the carnitas tacos and mulitas which thankfully are still delicious and 100% worth the trip. Their tortillas are really good as well.

Taco restaurant
Puesto Mission Valley is a trendy and spacious eatery located in San Diego's Mission Valley. It stands out as the largest establishment in the Puesto chain and features its first craft brewery, known as Puesto Cerveceria. This spot specializes in Mexican-style lagers and beverages, some of which are exclusive to this location. The industrial-chic atmosphere, extensive tequila and mezcal selection, along with a full menu of Mexican cuisine make it an attractive destination for visitors.
From the moment we walked into Puesto in Mission Valley, we knew we were in for something special. The vibrant atmosphere, welcoming staff, and stylish decor set the tone perfectly — but it was the food and beer that absolutely stole the show. The tacos? Unreal. Each one was a flavor bomb — perfectly seasoned meats, creative combinations, and that signature crispy melted cheese tucked inside? Game-changer. Every bite was bursting with freshness and authenticity. And don’t even get me started on the guacamole — easily some of the best I’ve ever had. And the beer selection? 🔥 A thoughtfully curated lineup of local craft brews and Mexican classics that pair flawlessly with the menu. Whether you’re a casual beer drinker or a full-on hophead, there’s something here that’ll hit the spot. The service was also top-notch — attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely passionate about the food and drink they serve. Puesto Mission Valley has easily earned a spot on my must-return list. If you’re craving bold flavors, a great vibe, and seriously good beer, look no further. 🌮🍺

Food - Pretty good. Filet mignon tacos were very good. Asparagus tacos needed another flavor to be interesting. Ribeye tacos were only ok - very disappointing because I had expected this to be my favorite. Service - Excellent. Pricing - Not competitive at all. Yes, there are taco Tuesdays but 85% of the week isn’t made up of Tuesdays. These are premium tacos served up at ultra-premium prices. After tax tip, and mandatory 4% surcharge for all parties regardless of size, I paid an average of $15 for each of my three tacos. Overall - Worth a visit to try out, especially if you’re (like me) a visitor from out of town. Hard to recommend it otherwise though because your buck can go much further elsewhere.
D W — Google review
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a nice spot to relax with friends or a date. That said, if you’re actually from Mexico or know authentic Mexican cuisine, the food might not quite hit the mark. The dishes look good, but the flavors don’t really capture the essence of real Mexican cooking. It feels more like a “Mexican wannabe” It’s not terrible, just not truly authentic. Still, the good service and cozy vibe help make up for it. Overall, I’d give it a 7 out of 10.

Our group of 15 walked in on Tuesday afternoon and were able to get seated pretty quickly. We went during happy hours so the price was more affordable. The food was great, the atmosphere was amazing, and the service was a little slow as we waited 15 min for them to prepare the check, and another 15-20min for them to come to collect the check and payment.

Tap beer at the bar was good and cold. Chips, guac and salsa were very good also. May not a prime choice for dinner menu seemed limited and servings have reviewed as not fully filling, but I can not verify that. Great place to meet friends and throwback so cold ones though.

Always a good time at Puesto. Food is overpriced but it’s creative. Like their tamarind shrimp tacos- and soo good. The drinks here are genuinely soo good. Our server was so friendly and food came out in a timely manner despite the fact they were very busy. I come here mainly when I want a really good drink. The coconut margarita is my favorite. It’s inside the shopping center where Trader Joe’s is at and I never have trouble finding parking.

My mother and I were looking for a place to enjoy some Mexican food. We found Puesto Mexican Restaurant in Mission Valley, and it was a great choice. It was Taco Tuesday and happy hour. We sat at a table on the patio, enjoying the blue corn tortilla tacos and margaritas, which were reasonably priced. We ordered the Rib-Eye Tacos. The must-try dessert is the Mango Cake, which is shaped like a mango and is delicious. Taco Tuesday pricing begins at 3 pm, and Happy Hour is Monday through Friday from 3-5 pm. The servers were friendly and helpful explaining the menu.

We celebrated my daughter's fourth birthday there, and she felt like a princess, referring to the hotel as her castle. The hotel staff was exceptionally wonderful, and while we utilized valet parking due to the hotel's popularity, we were treated with great care. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel, particularly for those seeking a family-friendly mini-vacation; it is an excellent choice and one we will definitely consider again!

A truly special place. We love The Hotel del Coronado—perfect for families or a romantic couples’ getaway. They host fantastic private and corporate events, and the dining options are great, both on property and within easy walking distance. The on-site shopping is excellent, and the spa and fitness center are wonderful additions. The pools are large with plenty of seating, and the beach is one of the most family-friendly in Southern California. Not to mention the breathtaking sunsets. When the weather is too cool for the beach, the seasonal ice-skating rink is such a fun touch. The shoreline walks are beautiful, with sweeping views all the way to Mexico, and I highly recommend the guided walking tour offered through the fitness center. It’s a very safe area, and the military planes and ships passing by provide a unique and enjoyable backdrop. I wholeheartedly recommend a stay at this historic property. We can’t wait to return.

Hotel del Coronado is rich in history, with beautifully crafted woodworking and architecture. There’s truly no other hotel like it, and we always enjoy our stays here. The newly completed renovation preserves many elements of the original buildings—such as stained glass windows and a recently uncovered mural—while updating the guest rooms. During our week-long visit, here are a few takeaways: • We were surprised to find there’s no in-room dining service. All service questions are handled by texting the main desk. • On the upside, there are several excellent restaurants on-site. If you enjoy fine dining, I highly recommend Nobu, offering exceptional contemporary Peruvian-Japanese fusion cuisine and outstanding service. • Be sure to research your room options in advance to ensure you have the features and view you want—there’s a wide variety to choose from. • The hotel is located near a military base, so you may occasionally hear jets or boats. • Guests can enjoy the main swimming pool and the hotel’s stunning oceanfront beach. • The spa is excellent and includes access to a fitness room and private spa pool. • Take time to explore the hotel’s history and visit its small museum to deepen your experience. The staff are happy to share stories about the ghost of Kate Morgan, and tours of her room (502) may be available. • Don’t miss the Crown Room, known for its grand Victorian architecture and crown-shaped chandeliers. Years ago, brunch was served in this elegant space—today it’s used for private events. I wish it were more accessible to guests.

Great location! The beach and setting are absolutely stunning and that is 100% what you are paying for. The room, amenities, and service are quite bad. In terms of service you will experience long waits and sometimes quite rude and unhelpful staff, the rooms are very very basic (worse than a Hilton garden Inn) with only the absolute essentials and none of the small touches you would experience at a luxury resort, and the whole resort is quite hard to get around with multiple layers and sections cordoned off per stay type/ room rate, so it is quite cumbersome to navigate and enjoy. Everything is extra and everything is an absolute rip off (e.g. the deck chairs and umbrellas at the beach are all extra). A 9oz glass of rose at the bar $32. The pool was very very busy and filled with kids and I can't imagine it being enjoyable in the summer. There were multiple events all day everyday so sometimes you have to walk through a conference or a wedding in a courtyard to get to your room which is a little awkward. My room had a leak in the roof making it quite hard to sleep and generally speaking the quality just isn't there for the amount you are paying. Prepare to be fleeced! On the upside the hotel is in walking distance to many wonderful shops and restaurants, the beach boardwalk is beautiful and all the restaurants on the hotel grounds have fantastic views. The rooms are generally quiet.

We stayed here for a conference a couple weeks ago and in my opinion, the cost is outrageous for everything provided by this hotel. When they charge $2.00 for hot water and then for a tea bag, you end up with the most expensive cup of tea. I have no idea who had the idea of charging for hot water, but it's shady to do this to your guests. There is no way to have a breakfast, lunch or dinner for under $100. Had I known it was a compound that pretty much has you pay ridiculous amounts of money for very simple drinks and snacks, and food you can get at a local restaurant for half the price. Charging $13-14 for domestic beer and canned alcohol is just crazy. The Monday we were there, they had small signs warning to not swim because of bacteria in the water. I saw this is something that occurs regularly and feel it probably wasn't safe to swim regardless of a sign or not. You will be nickeled and dimed for everything at this resort. Granted, it is beautiful and the renovations looked very nice, but I have stayed in much more affordable resorts that had better service, food and rooms. The rooms are not worth $600. Our view was the roof and on Tuesday, the workers were outside our window with ladders hanging holiday lights at 7:30 a.m. This was a disappointment and makes no sense to have workers this early when people are sleeping. I can say, I have been to the Hotel del Coronado and it was not the experience I expected, nor was I impressed. I see the replies to the comments are pretty much the same, so make sure if you do plan on staying here, you use Grubhub or similar to order food and drinks elsewhere and have delivered. You can get a six-pack for the cost of one beer and snacks that are not tripled. The Boathouse restaurant was amazing and is within walking distance.

It was a special weekend. Stay at the Coronado Hotel. I was checked in by a very nice man who gave me a beautiful Victorian room with a deck. The Victorian style is my favorite so what a special treat. I’m very grateful to the room that was selected for me and the deck and overlooking the gardens. Some of my friends came over. We had a nice evening chatting on the deck with wine and a charcuterie board personally made by us 😊
Cyndy W — Google review
Visually attractive but is lacking in room design and consideration of the guests. In the room I was staying in, you had to wedge yourself between the toilet and wall to open the shower door. There is a lot of activity between 1:00 to 2:00 AM where the staff are tossing large or just loud objects into what sound like a dumpster. This happened all three evenings I was there. The staff ranged from excellent to mediocre. I would not pick this hotel for the price if I was on vacation.

Mexican restaurant
Tacos El Gordo is a beloved family-owned Mexican eatery that has been serving up mouthwatering Tijuana street tacos since 1972. With locations in San Diego and Chula Vista, this no-frills joint offers an authentic and affordable taco experience. The menu features a variety of fillings, including carne asada, al pastor, and their popular fish taco with crispy white fish, zesty salsa, and a squeeze of lime.
Being from Texas, naturally, I am reluctant to write this review. These were some of if not the best tacos I’ve ever had in my life. Price is a bit lofty, nearly $5 a taco but they do pack the tacos with meat so they are very filling.

Always love the quick, friendly service and great food. I usually get the cabeza and lengua tacos but everything is good. They have people dedicated to keeping the place clean so you never have to worry about a dirty table.
Jay S — Google review
We've tried several Mexican food during our trip to California and Tacos El Gordo was one of the best, they don't skimp on the ingredients. We arrived at 5:00 pm on a weekday and it was packed. Ordering was easy and efficient because they had separate lines for the different types of food and everything was labelled clearly. We will definitely visit this place again.

Excellent tacos with all the different type of meat to choose from. Beef tongue melts in the mouth, steak is smoky and flavorful. The fries with choice of meat is also very tasty. Lining up for each type of taco needs to detailed analysis of which ones go on which line, just like in a street market :) It is also very reasonably priced. There's also a sink near the cashier for washing hands without going to the bathroom. Very convenient.

The softest and juiciest lengua I've had in Cali. Hands down home made! Well run business. Nothing can beat this place, seriously. Parking in the back but most people park near JC Penny and walked over

All tacos are delicious! First time trying a vampiro was 100/10!! Highly recommend to try everything. Especially the adobada (pastor).
Bianka O — Google review
Tacos are delicious. The carne asada and the pastor are my go to. Have never had a bad experience here. The cantaloupe agua fresca was a nice surprise.
Tim S — Google review
Great tacos. After a meh experience at the gaslamp location where none of the tacos had any flavor, I was hesitant to try them again but the chula vista location was amazing. The adobada tacos were my favorite. My husband loves the lengua tacos.

Fat Fish Cantinagrill offers a unique dining experience with its elevated Mexican dishes and inventive margaritas served in a cavernous, rustic-chic setting. The restaurant has received high praise from both locals and visitors for its delicious and flavorful food. Dishes like the enchiladas with juicy sauce, light chicken tacos with arugula and cotija cheese, as well as the lobster special have been particularly popular.
Love this place! So good! Good service. The enchiladas suiza are amazing! Nice fire pits....good bar area. Nice patio. Parking is ok. Sometimes tough. Right near the beach, one block..... take a stroll after dinner!

The food was ok. We ordered a burrito with no onions. It came with onions so it was sent back. They scraped the burrito and re-served it. It was sent back again. The kids mac and cheese appeared to be half servings. The iron skillet meat trio was vey tasty. The guacamole was delicious. The waiter was very nice as was the manager.
Faye F — Google review
Came before dinner rush and was served promptly. We got the Mexican corn, fish taco (2.50ea on Thursday) and lobster taco ($6). The corn was okay, but not as good some of the ones Ive had. I thought the fish taco was okay, but I really enjoyed the lobster in the lobster taco. I wish they made the tortilla and filling for it smaller to fit the amount of lobster that was actually in it. When I took out a piece of the lobster (they were chopped small like small shrimp size) and ate it itself, it was delicious, but together everything else kinda overwhelmed the taste. We ordered the churro dessert as well and it was delicious. The churro is fried fresh and it goes well with the raspberry sauce and whipped cream. Did not taste nutella in it though.

Great service and clean spacious atmosphere in the heated outdoor area. Had to go with local favorite fish tacos and wife got chicken enchiladas. Both were outstanding with flavor and balance. Would definitely recommend both plates and their extensive margherita and tequila menu. Plus free chips and salsa is never a bad thing.

The mix of flavors were so delightful. I had the shrimp enchiladas with chipotle cream sauce and my husband had surf and turf tacos. Paired with a simply perfect bloody mary, it was so delicious. The owner's daughter was sweet and a joy to talk with about the general area, giving us great tips for our trip. Worth a visit if you want great food in kick back place with a cool Cali vibe.
Andrea M — Google review
Wait service was good and manager was a sweety, however kitchen staff need some training. I came with a group and probably had some of the best guacamole dip that I've ever had. However the initial good service was negated by a poor oversight of the kitchen staff. We had a person who is allergic to onions order a dish without them. They assured us they could do it. Then came the food layered with them. Rather than remake the dish, kitchen staff wiped the burrito down and represented it. Problem was, they left some of the onions still on it. In the end, the manager made it good for the person in our party who saw the poor service. I'll be back in the future to revisit. Perhaps at that point I can rerate the establishment more positively. In the mean time, try the Guac dip and the carna asada dishes. They were great.

I love their in house margarita and shrimp tacos!!! Yummmm :) Desided to try the Lobster bisque soup last time I was there and absolutely loved it! So I would say those three are my fav so far.. Always experience good service in Fat Fish. No complains. Keep up a great job guys! :)

This place is a true gem. We LOVED the food here. It was an easy walk from the hotel we stayed. The vegetarian tacos was hands down the best I’ve had anywhere in the US. We loved the Sangria and Margaritas but felt the alcohol was less.

Valerie’s Taco Shop is a hidden gem that truly shines with its marinated carrots, setting the stage for an unforgettable culinary experience. This spacious and welcoming taco shop boasts a diverse menu filled with flavorful options, making it a delightful stop for anyone passing through the neighborhood. Open until 10 PM, it perfectly caters to late-night cravings. The salsa bar is a highlight, featuring an array of delicious salsas including a spicy red variety that packs quite the punch and leaves you wanting more.
The green sauce is amazing, I would put it on anything - it is delicious on my chilaquiles!

I just popped in for a taco. Place is clean and the stuff is friendly. My El Jefe taco looked fire, and it was reasonably priced. The main issue is the meat tastes like it was cut on the same cutting board as fish / shrimp. I am super aware of flavors and everything is fresh and distinctive, But I definitely can't shake the fish flavor in a carne taco. Doused my taco with salsa sauce from the shop and put an egg on it when I got home to try and mask the flavor, but it's still very much there. Super bummed. Hopefully, they read this and reserve certain cutting boards + kitchen towels for specific meats / foods

The service wasn't that good. The cook had to ask the order taker to come three times and it took about 10 minutes. She came with her phone in her hand. The food was really good and still was prompt. They have a great salsa collection that is unique to their own. Not my total top favorite but I definitely will come back here again for the salsa and quality of food.

I ordered two soft tacos on Taco Tuesday. One taco had two soft tortillas but the other one had only one tortilla. No lemon was given. But food was good.
Ragothaman R — Google review
A spacious, clean and friendly taco shop serving a diverse menu of flavor and quality. This was a wonderful, passing-through-the-neighborhood discovery for me - and they're open until 10pm, which perfectly fit my need at the time. *Loved* their "spicy" salsa from the little salsa bar - the reddish, coarsely textured stuff - very tasty and with a nice kick that left a pleasant afterglow. The spicy green variety was also memorable as well as the "extra spicy" red salsa. All were delicious. Excellent carne asada burrito - my close-to-closing-time sample had a generous portion of beef that was quite tender and lightly seasoned (not overly salty, not heavily greasy and essentially no gristle at all) - definitely above the norm for chopped beef quality. Very enjoyable. Rolled tacos were equally satisfying. Putting the appeal of their burrito and tacos together with the punch of their tasty salsa pretty much guarantees I'll be "passing through" again soon. My dining partner was equally impressed. Kudos!
Jason S — Google review
I'm here once every two weeks for lunch. Fast service, even when it does get a little crowded at lunch hour. I normally get a carne asada rice bowl, and the thing is PACKED. I definitely get my moneysworth. They don't flake on the meat or toppings. Plenty of guacomole. I usually get a side of chips to dig into the bowl, and it's a filling combination, which is saying something - I have an appetite working 12 hr days. At least a dozen salsas to choose from. Several meat options. Wide variety of drinks to but I'm stuck on the horchata. I get it to go most of the time, and it's still hot when I reach my destination. Even the chips are still warm. The place is definitely worth a shot.
