It is one of the most popular fine dining restaurants in Helsinki. I visited on a Friday for dinner, the place was almost full. So, I strongly recommend those who plan to visit shall make a reservation in advance. The high standard yet friendly service topped in my ratings. The atmosphere was also great, The pianist played soft songs that blended well with the ambiance. And, most importantly, the sound level was just right. The food tasted great with enhancing, artistic, yet practical presentation. The price point in Savoy is extremely friendly for a Michelin star rated fine dining restaurant. And as the price index here in the Nordic is high, this makes the price here even higher value for money.

Had a lunch here today, we ordered Salmon soup, beefsteak and my favourite herring with cream brûlée and ice cream with coffee for dessert. Dinner was quite nice, the staff was friendly and food was good. I got the Artist’s menu with meat, the soup was a little bit spicy but good, the main course was tasteful and the creme brule was nice but a tad bit too sweet. However the atmosphere was nice and our server turned out to be Estonian as well so that was a lovely surprise!

My fiancé and I visited this steakhouse because the online menu mentioned ribeye under premium cuts. Unfortunately, the menu they have did not reflect this, so we went with the Wagyu sirloin. The ambience seemed great as we were entering, but they shoved all diners into a corner, almost on top of each other, while the rest of the restaurant had wide open seating. The pair to our left was blasting Arabic music from their phones, FaceTiming friends, and yelling for service. It was loud, and we could barely hear each other. The food came out 4-5 minutes after ordering, and the man carrying the food tried giving our meal next to the pair sitting to the right of us. We ordered medium, and got blue rare. The asparagus was hard as carrots (didn’t even know that was possible), but the salad was okay (reason for two stars). We took a few bites of our 90 euro steak, paid our bill as fast as we could so we could escape the yelling match and loud music. We went across the street and got sushi, it was great. I don’t recommend, I’ve left one google review ever, but this has earned my second. The waitress may have helped if we complained about the food, but we just wanted to leave ASAP. So no discredit to the waitress, she was good.

Well now, first night in Finland / Helsinki - and to our surprise and delight we alighted upon a very nice steak house. Steak houses abound in Helsinki it seems, and very good they are too, though like everything here, from Class A substances to casual rumba-like interactions by the hour, it is all pretty pricy. There was plenty of choice, everything we tried was well cooked, well presented and very tasty. Of course, 'tis very pricy, but then again, it is Helsinki. You could spend a month in Helsinki eating steak every dinner, and then still not have exhausted your options, though the same might not be said of your kidneys!

I did the wagu summer special and it was great! It took a while for the servers to assist me, probably due to one of the guys having too many tables, but once I was helped service was fantastic! The asparagus soup was delicious, the wagu, mushroom and sauce complimented each other and the creme brulee was a nice treat to top it off. If in Helsinki I would for sure return here.

I start from the beginning. We had a reservation for two and no one was at the reception to guide us. We had to wait for a long time then I asked the bartender if he can help us. He was so rude and angry. The other waitress was also ignoring until one Asian waitress guided us to our table. The asian waitress was so nice. The food was also nice, but overpriced for sure. The service is slow, when the people left their tables no one was coming to clean their tables. The desert was disappointing, however the cocktail was nice. I ordered baked potato with sour cream for the side dish. The potato was not baked and still hard. All in all, I will never visit this place again, one star for the steak and one star for the nice waitress.

Very good service and excellent food. The whole atmosphere is really pleasant. A bit pricey but exactly what you can expect from a steakhouse in Helsinki. We had reservations on March 13th while on our 20th wedding anniversary European trip and we are still thinking about this experience! This was absolutely amazing and everything was delicious. We opted for the vegan tasting menu and the chef accommodated my preference for no mushrooms. I circled my favorites in the photos but every single creation exceeded my expectations. The tomato, oregano and red currant pie was the best thing I have ever eaten in my life! Wow! We have never gone to a place like this before. It was interesting to watch the chefs cook, the servers explained each of the dishes and the chef greeted us on our way out. Everyone was very professional. The attention to detail was next level. Highly recommend this restaurant. If we ever return to Helsinki, we will definitely go back. Heck, it’s worth the return specifically to go here. I took a million photos of the food and am posting them to share.

Absolutely worth all the accolades and more! Had my birthday dinner here tonight and was incredibly impressed and overjoyed at every single course. The staff are top notch professionals with loads of personality. I opted for the non-alcoholic pairing with the vegetarian menu (slightly altered from vegan version) and felt they all were deliciously spot on for complementing the course. Very intimate, timed seating makes for a wonderfully personal experience.

Great restaurant with fantastic, attentive service. Food was for the most part amazing as well. Some dishes in particular were very memorable (like the scallop and the king crab with rose hip), while some dishes were good but not amazing (like the duck fat doughnut). Wine pairings were mixed. Fantastic Summer menu with each and every plate being absolutely delicious. My favourites were all starters and mind blowingly fantastic fish soup. We had mixed pairing with 3 wines and 3 non-alcoholic drinks. Highly recommended. And I wonder, why only 1 star ⭐️ ⭐️

We booked here for an anniversary celebration and were not disappointed. The food, wine matching and service were all impeccable as you’d expect. I particularly enjoyed the summer veg and fish soup inspired starters. They have one sitting at 8pm and they bring each couple inside in turn, to a chorus of “hei” which makes it feel friendly and welcoming.

The day before, the restaurant was fully booked and we couldn’t get a reservation. Today, we finally had the chance to dine here. We skipped the starters and ordered grilled pike perch and Wiener Schnitzel for the main course. Due to we are not very familiar with wine, we asked the waiter for recommendations, both the red and white wines turned out to be surprisingly good. For dessert, we chose the famous iced cranberries with hot caramel sauce that everyone seems to order and it was truly impressive. Great service, lovely atmosphere, definitely worth visiting again.

Good food & great service! The restaurant gives a cozy, family atmostphere. However the space is a bit small, and so many tables around. I’m a bit overwhelmed when sitting too close to other people. 😅

We went as a group of six people. It was a significant birthday for one of us, and we wanted to have a meal out together somewhere nice to celebrate. The whole experience was wonderful. We had the five course meal choice with a different wine for each dish, as suggested by the restaurant. The choice of wine was explained every time, details about where it was produced and what type of grapes were used to give the specific taste of the wine. I definitely learnt a lot.. And the food was truly wonderful, check out the photos on this review page. I would say it was the best restaurant experience I have had in the last twenty years..

Quality food and wine: beef tartar, Iberico pork, cheese. The only thing letting it down is a service, which was very slow considering just a 4-course meal. The tables are close to each other, but it doesn't feel crammed.

I was recommended this place by the receptionist at my hotel, and it was truly worth recommending further. When I walked in, I just said “surprise me” without knowing anything about what they had on the menu or what they were known for. First, I got both sourdough bread and focaccia with garlic butter, along with some Caster Liebart Cuvée Cécile Champagne. All of this was really good. The first course was beef tartare with thyme mayo, pickled chanterelles, and sourdough crackers and this has to be the best beef tartare I’ve ever eaten! It was served with Bottega Vinai Pinot Nero 2019, which paired fantastically with the dish. The second course was their Jerusalem artichoke risotto with Finnish apple and wow, the flavors in this risotto were truly amazing. Definitely worth trying when you visit this place. It was served with Domaine Gresser GC Wiebelsberg 2003, again a perfect choice for this meal. For the third course, they served pan-fried trout with potato purée and beurre blanc. The fish was excellent, with a crispy skin and a great balance of flavors. I never thought I’d eat trout in a restaurant that was better than the ones I catch and cook myself, but this was definitely better! This dish was served with Domaine Jean Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Côte de Léchet 2022 and once again, a great choice by the sommelier. For the cheese course before dessert, I was served Ossau-Iraty and Fromager d’Affinois with homemade flatbread and some jam. At first, when combined, I didn’t notice that the flatbread had a hint of licorice flavor. But when I tasted it on its own, I did and although I don’t normally like licorice, this combination of flavors blended together beautifully. It was served with Canfine Castelvecchio Barolo 2019, which, like everything else, was excellent. Finally, for dessert, I had chocolate praliné mousse and blackcurrant leaf ice cream and this has to be the best mousse I’ve ever had. It was served with Arnaud Lambert Crémant de Loire, a really nice way to end this wonderful meal. To finish it all off, they served me a Negroni, which was also amazing. Thank you for the excellent service and delicious food! This was truly a fantastic dining experience. I would recommend everyone in Helsinki to visit this restaurant, such a cozy atmosphere and a super friendly staff!

The fish lacked flavor, and the fish sauce was too strong. Service was slow, but the wine selection was great, which was a highlight. Coming from NYC, the flavors felt a bit boring for my taste.

Great casual restaurant where kids are welcome. Classic but varied menu, I had the steak tartare and my wife had scollops which we both enjoyed. There was a kids menu and our two had a cheese burger and chicken wings. Local beer was refreshing. A nice place to sit with friendly service.

The waiter was super friendly and the atmosphere was on point! The location is pretty central so that’s a big plus. We ordered the set menu, the starter had a lot of spouts and was lacking some fat in the scampi, they didn’t have the risotto so I got the salmon dish which it was pretty delicious and the dessert was a normal crème brûlée. I forgot to mention that my friends got the tartare as main dish which was super good!

I went to dinner with colleagues. The service was excellent. The food was at a high level. The prices were a bit on the expensive side (steak €38, burger €26), but definitely worth trying and coming in. Overall, I highly recommend the place if your budget is not super tight.

We had an new years eve menu at The cock. Our table was downstairs and i think that our table was too close to another table. The food was generally Ok keeping in mind the ingredients on the plate. Nothing special just ok. Staff was very good and active in a good way. Enjoyed our visit. Bill was more than excpected.

Excellent reindeer meat and fish dishes. But the front desk person collected our coats for the optional coat check without informing us that there is a 3.50 charge per coat. What a slimey and underhanded way to make extra money. The restaurant looks dated and smells like cigarettes. We Had to wait 20 minutes for a table even though the restaurant was half full.

Food is a top notch and the restaurant has nice interior. I had the legendary Vorschmack for starter and reindeer as a main. The only reason leaving out a star is the fact that you are asked to pay for leaving your jacket??? 3.5e per person? I have never seen that before. Will you also ask to pay for using the toilet? A bit on the pretentious side, this historic Helsinki restaurant feels more Viennese than Finnish, with a distinctly Germanic atmosphere — elegant decor and formally dressed waiters. The food was tasty but quite overpriced, even by Helsinki standards. The place was very noisy, and our waiter had trouble hearing our order, which made communication a bit difficult, especially for a larger group, even though we had a reservation. While he spoke English fluently, he wasn’t particularly polite. The restaurant clearly caters to tourists and business groups — lots of men in suits having formal dinners. One strange detail: a €3.50 cloakroom fee, which felt rather forced by the staff. On the plus side, the restrooms had real cloth hand towels — a rare touch.

Congress in Helsinki, we decide to eat here. As soon as we walk in, they ask me to leave my jacket. I wasn’t wearing a jacket, just a simple sweatshirt that I preferred to keep with me because it wasn’t very warm inside. The coat check attendant seemed annoyed by this, probably because they charge €3.50 for the coat check, and in his eyes, I was trying to avoid the fee. The food was decent but the price was too high for the quality offered. The worst part was that at the end of the dinner, after I had already paid, the coat check attendant started getting angry with me because I hadn’t left my sweatshirt at the entrance, saying it was mandatory (and paid!) just like in all restaurants in Helsinki. Honestly, it’s my second time in Helsinki and I’ve been to around ten restaurants—I’ve never seen this rule before. And judging from other reviews, I’m not the only one. How you treat customers defines who you are.

Top notch experience from start to Finnish! Food and service were both fantastic, great value, and we would happily return. Stand outs from the menu (which changes regularly and showcases local ingredients were: The rustic homemade baguette!, Goats cheese tart, Beef tongue (special of the day) and the Potato skin with olive oil and peanut Swiss roll dessert. This last dish was very unique and really worked well.

Excellent dinner here on my last night in Helsinki. I had a 2-course meal from their new menu. Arctic char followed by peppercorn steak. Both were delicious. The service was also faultless. I found the staff welcoming and professional, and everything very well timed. Yes, it is pricey but that’s mainly due to the wine and less so the food. I did opt for a half-glass of wine to accompany the appetiser and a full glass of red with the steak. This is refined yet unfussy food in an intimate, unpretentious atmosphere. I’ve eaten well in Helsinki but this was my best meal and overall dining experience.

Absolutely perfect dinner. Super good food and one of the best experiences overall. My husband has some food restrictions, and sometimes it becomes a little awkward when eating out, but not here! They were super accommodating and seemed to be very happy to customize dishes for him. It was the best restaurant experience for him ever. Thank you so much! Did some research on high quality restaurants, and based on all the recommendations Vinkkeli had received, decided to book a table. And true enough, the glowing reviews were on spot. High quality of service, absolutely beautiful interiors, beautiful tableware were first indicators that this was a great selection. We decided on the four course menu, which was well explained by the staff member. Everything worked, dished were absolutely excellent, paired well with recommended wines. Timing was spot-on, and we felt like the customer was on focus here. Thank you Vinkkeli, you are GREAT!

I was especially impressed by how well different allergies were taken into account – we felt safe and well looked after the entire time. All around an amazing dinner. We took one of the set menus with wine pairings. We did swap out one of the desserts as my partner doesn’t like coconut at all but they provided a perfect alternative. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Food was spectacular and delicious. The restaurant was cozy and elegant. Recommend making a reservation but we did book the day we ate there. This was a great meal to end our visit to Helsinki. If you want a high quality meal that is not extremely expensive this is the place to go. Can be romantic, good for business or a nice meal out .

Goodwin is located in a very convenient area, making it easy to reach. The steaks are delicious and well-cooked, and I highly recommend trying the red wine sauce. The only downside for me was the sides, nothing really complements the steaks perfectly, and mashed potatoes or vegetables come at an additional cost, which increases the overall price. The staff were polite and professional, though not particularly warm or friendly. The atmosphere, however, is cozy and inviting, making it a pleasant place to enjoy a nice meal.

The filet was perfect with smashed potatoes make sure you let them know how you like your steak because they bring out bloody. The bread they serve before meal was great with the side of butter and garlic. We also order chicken wings and 😮 they were saucy and crispy. Everyone else order soups and they loved, it was vegetable soup and mushroom soup.

We ordered New York steak 220g to share. We were pleasantly surprised that they presented the steak in 2 portions separately. This was in between meals thus we only ordered another appetiser, garlic bread. It was nothing like what we had in SG. It tasted great! Crispy on the outside and fluffy bread. Well balanced with the bacon, with hint of garlic. Loved it! The steak was well prepared, medium like what we asked for. Fragrance of the beef filled our mouth. The appetiser was served together with the main dish. with the atmosphere and level of restaurant, I would have thought that they will be served separately. Once we finished out course, they served the bill immediately without us asking. The restaurant wasn’t packed, only 3 tables filled including ourselves. I personally felt they rush to send us off. I didn’t really had time to immerse in the restaurant atmosphere like the other diners, whom they took their time to enjoy their meals. I would still recommend this restaurant. But be more specific to the servers, that you prefer to serve the dishes separately so that you get to taste each dish properly. Washing your palette with water before taking the steak. This was enhanced your dinning experience. 220g split up into 2 portion, was quite filling for Asian ladies with small appetite. You can reach here via Tram 2 which also stopped at railway station.

I can say this is the best place to have a steak in Helsinki. The Mushroom soup was to doe for. I have been here three times now and I have not had a bad experience. For Finland standard the price is worth it I guess. Make sure to take a picture with the cow 😁

I had one of the best Porterhouse Steaks here, it was cooked to perfection (as recommended - medium and I was glad I didn't ask for medium rare, like I normally do). The place also has a good atmosphere and friendly staff. It was pricey, I got what I paid for.

Went there for weekend brunch and can totally recommend! Especially the cold selection - very nice smoked fish, skagen and salads. The atmosphere is nice and special and saw some people having birthday celebrations with family, so a nice special occasion option too.

I stopped by for Monday breakfast and it was a fantastic experience! The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and professional. The food was excellent especially the Karelian pies with egg spread and pickled onions, which were absolutely delicious. The drinks were refreshing, and the atmosphere was calm and cozy. had the chefs menu: the parsnip soup was gorgeous, super creamy and flavourful. the main course of mushroom rigatoni was underwhelming in my opinion, was dry and the mushrooms were pickled so the whole dish just tasted like pickles, very little mushroom flavour. the dessert of chocolate cake with apple ice cream was tasty but nothing special. crème brûlée was really nice though. overall, the highlights were the soup and bread & butter. the service was also impeccable!

Can not recommend this restaurant enough. The food is absolutely amazing. Full of flavor and prepared perfectly. Also they accommodate Gluten Allergies with Gluten Free options off their existing menu as well as providing separate Gluten free bread. If you have a gluten allergy, this should be on your list. First night in Helsinki I saw a review and gave Krog Roba a try. WOW! From the start to the end an absolutely amazing experience. The staff is friendly and helpful. The property is clean and relaxed. The food is 5 stars! If you haven't been to Krog Roba, add it to your "must list".

Native finn living in helsinki. Visited due to business dinner. Whole course was pre selected and paid Ate 5 set course with wines. Only negative point in my opinion was that the red wine served with the main course(deer) which was bit on the light side for game. Everyhing else was well matched and tasty. The staff didn't interact too much and so didn't interrupt our discussions with our partners. Otherwise I would have preferred a bit more on that front, but this way all worked well. Overall a nice visit Thank you!

Restored fish market (I am assuming) that now houses individual food stalls. We were there pretty early so it wasn't busy. There are free toilets in the back. We bought a delicious lingonberry mini pie. It's right on the water, near the ferry that takes you to Suomenlinna, a popular tourist destination. I imagine that the hall is jam packed during the day. There are hot prepared, packaged, and to go options available.

This hall was so cute! From cafes, quick bites, fresh meat, caviar, and bathrooms. What more could you ask for. We tried the popcorn coffee which was amazing and a stuffed baked potato. One of the highlight locations on our trip.

Must visit when in Helsinki! Definitely try the Eriksson fish stall for the best salmon and lobster soup and their amazing fish tapas. 🦞 Great souvenirs as well such a reindeer jerky, caviar and licorice. There are some good coffee spots too! ☕️

WOW - what a wonderful experience. I just arrived in Helsinki from Tallinn having booked nothing and just going with the flow. I naturally walked to the main Cathedral square and was feeling hungry from breakfast 8 hours before. I saw a traditional Finnish restaurant on the square that looked welcoming and traditional. I asked for a table for one, but understandably they were fully booked on a Friday evening - however the lovely lady at the front squeezed me in for an hour and half slot. WELL, all the staff were approachable, friendly and warm. The atmosphere was original and special and the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD (I had a salmon soup with a variety of local bread, a reindeer roast and delicious rhubarb crumble for dessert). You have to come here if you're visiting Helsinki/Finland. Book in advance to ensure that you won't miss out, I think I was incredibly lucky, but very grateful for the opportunity. Savotta is a MUST!

A brilliant Finnish restaurant. The food was excellent and tasty. Although the food was on the more pricy side, the quality and rarer meat (such as reindeer and bear) were worth the money. The service was friendly and the atmosphere cosy. Traditional older Finnish popular songs were a nice touch. I would recommend the place for tourists that want good quality Finnish dishes, as well as local folk for a nice restaurant experience.

Wanted to treat myself to one “traditional” meal in Helsinki and this was it! I got the reindeer roast— I had to. It was very tasty. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked. It really felt like you were in a family restaurant with the decor and kindness of the staff. The portions were perfect. I highly recommend making a reservation due to the location and popularity of this restaurant!

This super cosy traditional restaurant really makes you feel like you've jumped back in time : music, decoration, staff dressed in traditional clothes... The vibe is immaculate ✨ And the food is amazing, you get this comforting grandma-food feeling that is so heartwarming. I tried the bear stew, delicious. The pan fried perch is very tasty and served with a great tartare sauce as well as vegetables. I ended with the raspberry sorbet with liquorice, to end this perfect meal. Had an exceptional dining experience at Toscanini Finland. Honestly, one of the best Italian spots I’ve ever tried. We enjoyed an early afternoon couple of glasses of wine on the outside patio during a rogue rainstorm and thankfully became of the extendable awnings, it was perfect. What a lovely space, and the smells coming out of the kitchen were divine. We must come back for dinner!!!!

Very nice restaurant attached to Klaus K Hotel. The food we had was excellent... the 48hr pork belly and sea bass plus very nicely dressed salad. The tiramasu was so good... said to be best in town... probably is. Has busy times but we were seated on arrival. Some outside seating was popular, but maybe depends on time of year.

This is the best meal for our trip. Every dish was cooked to perfection. I just LOVE the fettucini with shrimp so so much that I want to take this dish with me back home. The pork cheek is so tender and tasty. This place is a gem!

We decided to get a glass of wine and to relax after walking Helsinki. It is a nice bar-restaurant with beautiful interior and comfortable sofas. You can watch people in a large windows walking street with their Christmas gifts and wondering tourists. I also photographed next door building interior as it was really beautiful but closed. Salad is fantastic, I usually don’t like goat cheese, but this one (and the sauce) is good. Fettuccine is yummy, prawn is tasty, good portion as main course. Bread is soft and fluffy. Good wine.

Well, we were in Finnjävel Sali. We had a 4 course menu. The menu itself was tasty, but what worries me was my allergies, miss take... In a city with so many excellent dining options, Finnjävel stands out. Every presentation on their tasting menu, in addition to being delicious, is beautiful and meticulously crafted. The staff is warm and engaging, and I appreciated the details they shared about each dish -- whether about its place in Finnish culture, or a personal story about having a more down-home version as a child. An additional endearing fact is that so much (if not nearly all) of what is in the restaurant itself has been made specifically for it, right down to the clever cutlery. A genuinely memorable experience.

So my first cordon blu / high scale meal in Finland, unsurprisingly in the Huvudstad, Helsinki. This is not to say that I have never had good food in Finland before, quite the contrary. But here we have a Michelin star restaurant. And to cut to the chase, it is a success, albeit an expensive one (which in Helsinki goes without saying - it is more expensive here than even Stockholm). The theme here is rustic revival, taking old ingredients, the freshest possible, which native Finns would have met say in more prosaic situations, like an evening meal at home, or even a school dinner (lovers of the film Ratatouille will nod!). There is a 5 or 7/8 course tasting menu, and a wine pairing too. We (my wife, and an old friend) had the 5 courses, with champagne to start (a house with a good dose of Pinot Noir), a lovely white Burgundy, and red Burgundy at the end (a glass only). It's hard to say that one course was best - it is best to say that the pace increased in quality as we got towards the end, but that increase was from good to excellent quality. The decor is simple, warm, homely. The staff, all but one of whom was female (oh my, a lot of boomer assumption there), and well done throughout. We left feeling replete and at ease, despite the bill! Recommended for a special occasion!

The food was very special, the flavours and textures and the serving - it made our evening very memorable. Absolutely delicious portions: traditional Finnish flavours served in a modern style. The only awkward part was a bit annoying waitresses service, there were just too many of them: both in the room and in our dinner, it felt like they were coming to our table too often, this was a bit stressful 😅 Otherwise, we enjoyed our evening a lot and will gladly come back

A gentleman who is a Helsinki local whom I met while on a plane recommended this restaurant to me. I was blown away by the quality of the dishes and the unique flavors of the food. The butter fried pancakes were so delicious that we ordered a second serving. The service was just as excellent as the food. I highly recommend dining at this cozy restaurant.

A beautifully designed restaurant with a strong Finnish character. From skis on the walls to fishing nets as décor, everything is arranged so tastefully and stylishly that just being inside already feels like an experience. We tried the Campfire Feast ( skewered reindeer fawn sirloin, reindeer sausage, fire-baked potato, onion compote, and a butter sauce) The flavors were excellent – the meat was very tender and carefully prepared, with sauces that matched perfectly. The only thing that left me a bit disappointed was the portion size, which I expected to be larger. I also ordered the house Finnish berry wine and absolutely loved it. If you enjoy slightly sweet wines, I highly recommend giving it a try. So, for two people, our total bill came to €120 (including tips and a 15% discount we had). It’s definitely on the expensive side, but considering the atmosphere and the chance to try authentic Finnish cuisine, I would still say it’s worth visiting at least once when you’re in Helsinki. Judging by how many guests were there, the place is clearly popular and well appreciated. ✅ Pros: stylish interior, authentic Finnish atmosphere, delicious food, excellent berry wine, friendly vibe. ❌ Cons: small portion sizes, high prices.

Cosy decor / atmosphere. Extremely friendly and cheerful waitress! Too the extend that I'd go back even for the service alone! Food was great too (went for salmon soup and sauteed reindeer) and wine was on point (the Malbec brought me back to the steak houses of Buenos Aires) Definitely recommend!

Nice place where we came to try bear meat which is not so common. We had traditional salmon soup with bread basket, bear meat and reindeer steaks with reindeer sausage. All food was tasty, waiter was patient :-)

We went as a 3 for dinner on Tuesday and it was fantastic. I am gluten free and was treated very well and felt very safe, with everything I wanted to eat being made gluten free. A very nice place to visit! The menu includes some traditional Finnish dishes as well as local beers. We tried the Campfire Feast — it was delicious, though the portion could have been a bit larger. The Red Ale and Berry Wine were also very tasty. The interior has a charming old-style atmosphere, decorated with horns, wooden skis, and other rustic details.

food was made with high quality ingredients, presented beautifully, and catered well to a pescatarian palette. for me, the starter tasted only of the horseradish sauce and my fish main course had several large bones in which was unpleasant. overall, the dishes tasted good but nothing stood out as being super amazing. the service was friendly and welcoming, although we had a gifted 4 course menu and felt a little pushed by the waiter to order drinks and spend money when we didn’t want to. loved the french decor and music but as someone who has lived in paris, the atmosphere was quite dull and not reminiscent of a true french bistro.

This is a decent french restaurant in Helsinki. We tried the classics i.e. escargot and tartare and they were as good as it gets. The main steak was also well prepared - nothing mind blowing though. Unfortunately their crème brûlée lacked taste and came out a bit flat. I have to compliment them on their service as it was warm, quick and friendly. The atmosphere resembled an authentic French brasserie. I would recommend booking a table in advance.

Had a chefs menu as dinner here. First starter really smooth, balanced and tasteful. Second dish was a bit creative. Maybe not just my cup of tea. Main char was yet again really smooth, balanced and enjoyable. Raspberry desert was mediocre. I'll do better myself. Wine package was interesting since had one wine that was between rose and red but it went well with the dish. White with the first dish was excellent being a bit on the dark and heavy side of whites. Desert wine was really good since it wasn't traditional super sweet. Overall pastis offers premium french kitchen experience. Definitely worth visiting if you are a friend of french kitchen. Restaurant side is really noisy when the place is full. Bar side can be a bit more peacefull.

- foie gras macaron wasn’t for me but had beautiful display - the crunchy snack chip at the beginning was unique and tasted good - excellent mussel dish; had a smokiness taste that was very good - the bread was cute and small; very sugary tasting and hot - excellent halibut that is fresh; the lemon and leaves had a very strong counter to it, which is excellent for me but may not be for - king crab tail was delicious; never tried anything like it and the sauce was perfect - the reindeer heart was different; good flavors but definitely gamey - sorbet palette cleanser was refreshing - final dessert was good with the hazelnut crisp; the bottom part was a bit soggy with the syrup but the ice cream and gold leaves were a very nice touch Favorites: - mussels were unlikely any elsewhere with the flavors - good pace of food coming out; didn’t seem to long or too short - second set of bread was delicious and sugary Least favorite: - one of the waiters was coughing quite a bit; didn’t look extremely ill but felt nervous since he’d cough into his hand and wipe it on his jacket - he didn't wash his hands either unfortunately - the reindeer heart was unique but too gamey for me Great service by server. The burger and fish were good, but plating and sides were very basic, for example the asparagus side pictured was €6 (3 pieces with lemon in a large dish). The service was quite slow, despite there not being many diners. Recommend against sitting outside as there are lots of small flies and no candles or diffuser to keep them away from tables.

✌Alcohol free cocktail✌ If you want to relax for a while in privacy with a refreshing non-alcoholic cocktail, in an easily accessible place in central Helsinki, the Töölönranta restaurant is the perfect place. It is located by beautiful Töölö Bay/ Tölöviken, a wonderful walking area around the city lake, with lots of activity and outdoor events of all kind. The restaurant and its terrace is a very peaceful place surrounded by greenery and shuts out all the big city noise and the folk life around Töölö Bay. It's not a people watching place, it's more a quiet place with only restaurant guests and their comings and goings.

Food is pretty ok (the steak is not so nice) but too little per portion so it turned out quite expensive. Not very friendly staff. We were there with kids but they did'nt give anything (such as pencil and paper for drawing) for them to play while waiting for food.

Amazing sushi with guaranteed freshness! The drinks menu was varied from tasty cocktails to teas. They also offered different bowl and pocket options for hungrier humans. My main reason for subtracting a star boils down to some minor stuff like the early closing time, slightly aloof service and lack of desserts. The atmosphere is very artsy chic and the servers carried that same vibe well. Test it out!

I had my first sushi in Finland here and what an experience! After my first sushi try in somewhere else I promised myself not to try it ever. However this place change my mind totally. Staff? Super kind Location? Easy access by tram Cleanliness? 10/10 Food quality? Mammamìa! Price? Totally worth it Time in queue? Not that much We started with the soup, the ingredients were fresh and the taste was perfect. Then I continued with California Maki👌🏻 I strongly recommend everyone who hesitate to try Sushi to start from this place.

I love Sushibar+wine in any case. I love the environment. The staff was a group of beautiful women who accommodate alternative cocktail options for us. I think the pricing and portions are fine for people with small appetites for a budget friendly experience. It’s in a busy stop so it gets fully booked in the evenings but we were there last minute and the staff was nice enough to give us a table.

We went there twice in 4 days! Great Sushi, Great sashimi, we loved their seaweed salad and the mega miso soup. It’s all organic and Home made, good selection of organic wine’s and other Drinks!

I visited this bar or club on time. It looks very nice inside and the music was great. Pop mainstream, new songs and great remixes. If you're into this kind of music it's the best place to dance. At least this music was played the time i visited the place. I wouldn't recommend this place to someone who wants a quiet place to chat but rather to someone who wants to party. Prices of drinks normal expensive Helsinki prices.

The atmosphere in Holiday is like none other! It’s the best terrace in Helsinki with the best DJs and I really recommend trying their drinks - the Mexican bartender kills it every time! Not to mention the best host/butler in town always taking everybody into account and lifting the Holiday spirit. The food is amazing and many of the dishes are best shared but in my opinion the best part about Holiday is the way the whole experience makes you feel like you actually are on a vacation. 🥳

I ordered 3 whisky sours, they added some drops I have no idea what they were. I asked what they were and they treated me like a rapist. Rude, unfriendly, overwhelmed. Go somewhere else who treats you nicer. Avoid.

3rd time here. No disappoinments. Food is fresh, tasty, with a twist and service is friendly, relaxed and always there when you need. Octopussy in Finland ? Yes and worth testing. Softshell crab? Even more so. Desserts... Only one - soft ice cream. And the terrace is one of the most sunny ones in the whole city.

The poke bowls were great. The tofu and tempeh were very tasty. Theres a selection of interesting and different drinks. The terrace is fantastic in the summer and is located in one of the most beautiful spots of Helsinki. Good for either drinks or food.

The place is a joke, their menu a scam. The great location guarantees there'll always be people regardless of what they do - so they don't. Drink selection very limited, and what they have, consistently overpriced. When I went there with some people, there was nothing on tap and the only lager was sol [!] and only one IPA. 16cl rosé (a good one, yes but cost) 15 €, a white 14. Some of us hadn't eaten anything so unfortunately we had to order something from the small and uninviting menu, once the kitchen opened at five o'clock. I was told after ordering and paying, that the "food" would take 40 minutes in coming, which it did. Of course I wouldn't have ordered anything, had I known that when making the order. The menu is divided into 3 sections: small, medium and large. I took a medium one: tomato sliced up and swimming in a pool of olive oil (and presumably anchovy that I didn't taste). Don't really see how that takes 40 minutes in making. A friend took a LARGE one. A wild herb gnocchi. It was a very small green mess on a plate. Unfortunately we didn't take a photo, but it was quite sad, and not any larger than mine. Also swimming in sauce that couldn't be eaten without a slice of bread or a bun that wasn't included. Mine cost 15 € the other one 20. One would expect to get something for that price to tie hungry people over for a half an hour but didn't. The other terraces by the asa around the market square aren't much better. Go just a little bit further and you'll be ok.

The typical under-hotel restaurant with good views, vibes and service. The place has the excellent atmosphere for having a dinner with colleagues from work: you know, those rare days when you decide to have some team-building game/exercise during the day and then take a mini-bus cab to drive you to dinner place at 5pm, and if someone did not attend the day you will be lucky on ordering more alcohol :)

The ambiance was calm. The servers were accommodating. The food tasted good (I had Oh Deer). Price seems reasonable. There's nothing bad to say about this place, but it's still not a restaurant I'd go back to nor recommend. I don't know why, i guess it just didn't "speak" to me.

I normally dont give 5 stars but this one deserves it. Lamb and fish was excellent, maybe best lamb ive ever had. Restaurant was pretty empty but they claimed its fully booked, but they managed to squeeze us in. We will come again ( if not fully booked :p )

We came for my birthday, and my partner had a reindeer dish and he absolutely ADORED it. I had the vegan burger which was also very lovely. We also ordered a cloudy berry prosecco cocktail which was delightfully delicious 😋 The service was good and friendly. And the music wasn't too loud. I liked how you could see into the open kitchen. However, they forgot about my side salad for a good 15-20 minutes. The chef ended up bringing it - it was tasty although by that point I didn't want it. Main issue: The table for 2 was WAY too small and cramped leaving little to no room for plates and glasses. Please swap out those awfully small round tables. Also, the chairs are not very comfortable and mark the back of your legs due to the design. The view over the snowy harbour was very nice. That being said, we would definitely return again.

Fantastic service both in English and Finnish. The fish was just amazing! So juicy and the pea puree was a great side flavour! You can't miss trying a cocktail from any of the waiters! They came up with a great 0% alcohol cocktail and it was just perfect while enjoying the view after dinner.

Family booked a table for New Year’s Eve. Had high expectation because of the close proximity to the well known hotel but the evening was rather a disappointment. New staff who couldn’t keep our order in check, running back and fourth to check, a cheese platter with two small slices of the same cheese and setting table so close to each other that it felt like we all of a sudden was six people instead of four when a couple sat down. All in all rather overpriced for what you get!

Service and friendliness was superb. Knowledgeable staff provided really great choices for drinks. Food was not in the same level as service. Portions were generous, but tastes were not mind blowing. Interior was cozy and stylish, check out Sue Ellen and J.R. in the bathrooms. Great location and allergies were considered.

Delicious four course dinner with exceptional wines made it a culinary experience to remember. Very friendly service was a big plus. Loved it!

A few moments after the first bite I realized that I had forgotten to take a blogger-worthy picture of the food! The many side dishes around the "meat tray" simply made me rush into a feast of American inspired gourmet. The interior didn't really match the food. My girlfriend and I had a feeling of sitting at a fancy French restaurant while eating a simple mac and cheese. The BBQ sauce was a little too anonymous to our taste. Though a bit pricey, this place is definitely worth a visit!

Delicious and affordable "Family Menu" with 39€ including cobb salad, skågen styled bread, corn bread, brisket or fish main, and delicious toffee pecan pie.

Staff was just fine and we were four people with differing opinions. Some thought the food was excellent while others were not so impressed. Considering we were there on a Tuesday evening, service was slow, customers were few but it didn't bother us too much amongst good company and conversation. Much better value for money and better food just right around the corner.

Splendid oysters. Hot sauce would have made them perfect. Fish tartar was delicious and the lamb was absolutely stunning with such a flavorful pea pure and reduction sauce. All was topped by a thich yet fresh chocolately dessert. Splendid experience.

The smash burger was quite okay, but the pizzas were really terrible, the first time ever I would leave pizza on the plate because of how bad it was. Can not recommend this place, although it was quite affordable at around 20 euros or less per meal.

Best food I’ve had in years, the two girls working there were amazing servers caring a lot about me being fine. The salmon soup, the shrimp toast and the sirloin were unreal, my eyes went watery as soon as I taste them. Good local IPA beer, definitely would recommend and have nothing to say but thank you, such an amazing peaceful place. PS: massive shout out to the server who pointed me the entrance, thank you!

Our experience was very good! Our server was very attentive, friendly, and we liked our food. The mushroom soup was delicious and I was glad they had a vegetarian burger. Salad, bread, and tea/coffee were included with my meal and self-serve. Would return again.

We had a delicious meal with lovely service. I ordered the vegetarian mushroom ravioli which was delectable. The French fries were beautifully crispy too! Highly recommend this place. Slightly off the blue route but definitely worth it and it was perfect that it was open all year round as we visited in October.

Went here yesterday and had such an amazing meal that we had to make the journey all the way back to the island today. With the sole purpose of coming here again! Service is slow but the food is DELICIOUS. We didn’t get any alcoholic beverages because they were exorbitantly expensive. The food however was nice and cheap, €16 for a burger and fries and a nice big lasagna for €15. The strawberry lemonade was to die for!

Great I loved it. We ordered Fish with Asparagus, Salmon Soup and Pizza. All of the meals were delicious.

We had a good lunch here and they have table service which is quite rare in Finland. Our table had salmon soup, the smoked salmon pizza and some green asparagus and everything was tasty. So better than the average reviews had me expecting.

Reindeers. You cannot not be reminded that you'll be eating reindeers in this Nordic restaurant by the numerous reindeer antlers scattered all over as decor and dare I say, look at your food whilst being alive when you're using their toilet. I thought the list of food presented were all somewhat appetising although I would add that some of the ingredients used (ie reindeers heart) can be interesting. Reindeer steak was nice if the heart carpaccio hasn't put you off yet. It was well cooked to medium and cut was sirloin and very lean. The The palate cleanser was surprisingly not sorbet but the granulated crumbs kinda did the job. Service was acceptable but it felt a lot like reading off a memorised script than anything. Generally I would say it's a fancy place for some reindeer theme but probably not a place I'll visit constantly. I wonder if they have a Rudolph Special during Christmas though.

Absolutely lovely and wonderful dining experience. This was my second time visiting and enjoyed the surprise menu with the wine pairings both times. The food is exceptional and the service is delightful. I very much enjoy the servers explanations of each course. I will return each time I visit Helsinki.

We were in Helsinki a week and had reservations at a different nice restaurant each evening. I think this one was our favorite. The ambiance is lovely, the server friendly (helpful with ides of things to see). The food was delicious! We had two starters: the carrots & the Whitefish. The Main course: Salmon Soup and Reindeer with potatoes. Delish, and we would definitely return. Had the Cheesecake for dessert.

This restaurant is so worth it. We stayed at the hotel and came to dinner our first night in Helsinki and man was it outstanding. The atmosphere is cozy and beautiful. It felt elegant. All the dishes and cocktails were outstanding! A great high end lappish style restaurant indeed! I hazard to say their poronkäristys is the best 👀

This is a review about the restaurant, the hotel is great. I had dinner here with my wife and 2 year old daughter. It was our last day in Helsinki and I was willing to pay a premium for what I expected to be a great dinner and for the convenience of eating in our hotel. We ordered the €85 tasting menu. The food was great, but this bad review is because of two reasons: - First, portions were very small. When spending so much money, leaving hungry is quite annoying. - Second, and more important, the service was EXTREMELY SLOW. We spent more than 2 hours there, and, considering how small the portions were, we could have certainly finished in half an hour at most. It took them 40 minutes just to bring the dessert! This is especially unacceptable when there's a toddler at the table, who obviously isn't going to be as patient as us. So we had to give her way too much screen time just to calm her down. We arrived at 18:00 on Monday, I had previously made a reservation, and when we arrived there was only another table, with 2 people, being served. I don't know what happened but this is completely unacceptable. We certainly wouldn't have had dinner here, even for free, if we knew that would be our experience. It wasn't just our most expensive dinner in Finland but the worst of them.

Don’t even think about eating anywhere else if you are in the mood for Finish Lapland food. Great execution, just take the 5 dish surprise meal with the wine pairing. Don’t ask. Just enjoy

A very nice place to dine. I really like the atmosphere, the waiters and location. The food was very good, but not excellent. I took the sticky ribs which was quite good and i liked the peanut on top of it. My wife had the cajun steak and what she said it was good. I tried it a bit and I also liked it. It was a flank steak, so different to a nice tenderloin but still good. Our friends had the tray and they were also happy with their choice. For desert we had chorus, for me it was just OK, it had too much cinnamon and i wanted a better crust. As mentioned before the food is quite nice, you will enjoy, but the food won’t make you feel like WoW.

I visited the Tray twice and I could say that the food is delicious, seats are comfortable and service is friendly as well as it gets better through time. The staffs noticed customers well though it was busy at night.

OK so this place is in a great location. A bit underrated as it is a hotel restaurant. Food is great, the hamburger was not medium rare as I asked for but still delicious. Service is great, staff is friendly. Decor is cozy and there often is a little corner for you to fit in even though it oftennis quite crowded.

After the PiriPiri prawns and Lobster on the beach, who were both great, We ordered the Tray with ribs. These are the best sticky ribs I ever have eaten.

While Ravintola Palace boasts two Michelin stars, our experience fell short of expectations. The food, though packs a lot of flavour, was a little too salty for some dishes. Yes, they took the time to explain each dish, but the service felt impersonal and cold - perhaps a Finnish trait, but disappointing for a restaurant of this caliber. What truly soured the experience was watching other diners receive special treatment, complete with gift bags, while we were overlooked. This created an uncomfortable feeling of being “second-class” guests. For the amount paid, the value simply wasn’t there. While the cuisine showed skill, the overall experience left a bitter taste. For the astronomical price, one expects more than just good food - you want an exceptional, memorable evening. Unfortunately, Palace failed to deliver on that front.

Located on the 10th floor, when you exit the lift, it exposes you to a space that has a nice ambience. Staff were welcoming. For the first time, each of the 10 courses was served by a different chef and not wait staff. Very original and a nice highlight. Each dish was delicate, amazing & very tasty. I could feel the subtle infusion of the different ingrediants and how well it all balanced without overpowering each other. Staff were very professional and attentive without crowding you. Plates got cleared quickly with comfortable intervals between courses. I even got an audience with the executive chef Eero Vottonern and all the BoH staff for a long & engaging chat about his vision, objectives, direction, etc. I wasn't overly keen on some food being served on a folded napkin and small timber coasters. I think it lowered the presentation slightly. Overall a great 4hr culenary experience. Staff were able to respond so well to all my inquisitive technical questions. This is more like it👍. Worth spending the high cost to be spoilt like this.

Just unreal dining in here. Every dish was piece of art, perfection and really well thinked. I don't have the photo of the duck dish, but that was definently one of the highlights. And the view was really really nice. Everyhing was just so perfect and the staff was really really really nice and professional. And the drink recommadations were spot on. I will come back sometime again.

Dining at Restaurant NJK is like discovering a secret supper club at the end of a fjord fairytale—if that fairytale included a mildly awkward ferry ride and an entrance so understated it felt like sneaking into someone’s lakeside wedding. But once inside, any confusion about where you are—or why you came—is replaced by the simple, glowing certainty that this was exactly the right choice. Let’s get the oddities out of the way first. The restaurant is located on a small island just off Helsinki’s harbor, which means taking a tiny ferry that arrives at its own leisurely pace. The dock is unceremonious, and the building itself, while charming, doesn’t scream “fine dining.” There’s no obvious front door, no grand entry. We wandered in half-lost, quietly asking, “Are we… supposed to be here?” Yes. Yes, we were. Because the moment you’re seated, the entire experience shifts. The menu is sophisticated but grounded, full of seasonal ingredients and Nordic precision. The food? Flawless. Rich without being heavy, inventive without being showy. Every dish landed. Every plate was a quiet triumph. And the service matched it—polished, present, never pushy. Special praise goes to the sommelier, who not only paired our wines beautifully but was, frankly, the first Finn we met on the trip who wasn’t wrapped in a shell of gentle social discomfort. We joked about it between courses: A unicorn! A sociable Fin! With views of the city twinkling across the water and flavors that lingered well past the meal, NJK felt like a discovery—a little odd, a little magical, and absolutely unforgettable. Just don’t miss the last ferry.

Event venues can be as uninspiring as a meeting at your local council. This one is a mix. Continuing with the metaphor, we were there when the meeting was quite spirited. Loud and singing tables were having a great time, and we were in the middle of it until the team leader moved us to peace. Most of the menu is well cooked and conceived. Morels were the sand in the machine, though, literally. It's not only that they were inedible, but a mouth full of soil is just mo fun. Letting the waiter know is usually avoided by me because of the fuss the restaurant makes afterwards. I'd not need to worry. After telling the waiter, we heard nothing more. I can happily report that I wrote to the place, and I received both kind words and a kind offer to return as their guest. An offer we were as happy to have as we were happy to pass up. Some visuals just don't bear repeating. The bread is pretty tragic and stale rye "crisp"bread is a national crime. Other than that, the food was quite good to very good, the chocolate cake being totally delicious. If only they had a natural wine or two, and some of the stunning IPA brews that are abundant... and a zero alcohol beer is pretty standard stuff, too. It's better recommended for a group, and the prices are up there, so make sure the boss is paying.

Incredible location to enjoy some of the fantastic dishes on the menu! Be sure to put aside a little time also for exploring the island, there are a few nice areas to walk to... A free boat transportation from the main shore to the restaurant island is provided for the customers. Only negative, and a loss of one star, for a confusion on the reservation time placed by the hosts. This resulted in some standing around, while we initially remained unsure if the staff was going to react to this/try to speed up getting the cabinet ready. However, once the service started, a good and attentive staff was available, while still letting the party to enjoy our own company.

Exceptional well sourced and skillfully prepared food in a storied historic yacht club, a short boat ride from the harbor. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly! My niece had her wedding rehearsal dinner here. It was a wonderful location. I highly recommend it.

Really scenic place! Loved the location and the walk from the boat dock up to the restaurant. You get really good views of helsinki all around. I enjoyed our dinner. Quite classic menu filled with Finnish/Nordic ingredients. The miso sea bass with cauliflower was delicious but the carpaccio could be better.

The place is located on a beautiful island with an excellent view from the dining. There will be a private shuttle boat in every 20 minutes to the restaurant form Port of Helsinki. Food is authentic Finnish. We went with our Finnish colleague and they suggested to have Salmon fish in starter that was good, Whitefish in main and one excellent French dessert. Overall great time and delicious food, though little expensive. If you have car then it needs to be parked on main land and need to walk about 15 to 20 mins to port of Finland. Also walkable from Helsinki railway station.

Best service in Helsinki, outside the Michelin recommendations. Fantastic, old school professional. Menu had many items we would have liked to try, but we had skagen, cured salmon and slowly cooked lamb. All very delicious. A hint of salt/taste missing in my opinion. But nothing to complain. Will definitely re-visit this same Summer. The view, money cannot buy. Go!

Lovely location and enjoyable short boat ride to the island. Restaurant itself is very understated inside and out. Food was delicious but not out of this world. Definitely worth a visit if in the area. Only draw back I would have to say is the lack of communication initially during the service. There was no real offering of the cray fish menu/dishes!

Basically nice scenery when the weather is fine. The taste of the food was not gourmet still ok, BUT, when we got the bill, they charged 4€ per person for bread basket, and we had one slice of bread each!! Was it really so that one piece of plain bread cost 4€??? 16€ for bread basket!! That is ridiculously over price for bread basket!!! WE FELT VERY DISAPPOINTED!!

EXPENSIVE CRAYFISH. €7.90 for a single crayfish. If you’re like me who is a crawfish boil fanatic and eat them by the pound you shouldn’t come here. Great service. Very nice ambience. Other dishes seem fine. Pricing is more on the expensive side. All in all, value is not great. Don’t come here for crayfish. ✌️

I photographed a wedding at Ravintola Särkänlinna last summer, it was a lovely experience. The food was excellent—beautifully prepared and full of flavor, adding to the overall experience. The warm wooden interior, the views overlooking the archipelago, and the intimate atmosphere make Särkänlinna a special place for celebrations. With the island reserved just for the wedding guests, it feels like a private little world of its own. However, one thing to keep in mind is that the dining room is on the upper floor, accessible only by a narrow staircase, which might be challenging for guests with mobility issues. It was also quite warm inside during summer, as there’s no air conditioning. That said, if you’re looking for a wedding venue with history, charm, and a unique location, Särkänlinna is a wonderful choice. – Maria Hedengren Photography

The restuarant locates on the top floor of an old castle on a small island, is reachable by boat in several minutes with an 8-euro return ticket. All the tables have nice sea views. We took the LÅNGÖREN menu. The food was in general ok but a little bit over seasoned. The starter and main were salty and the dessert quite sweet, I had to drink a lot of water to balance myself. Well, still water costs 5 euros which is comparatively high for tap water. Well, probably worths visiting for the experience.

You are paying for the location first and foremost. The food was as good as you would expect from a place like this. The wait times were a little long and if ordering a la carte you should expect to order multiple courses as the servings are not large. The waitstaff are very friendly. The only thing that slightly soured the experience was that water and bread refills are automatic but you will be charged for each one. This feels a little tacky and I would rather have mone transparency to the costs of the dinner and even just pay more for the actual individual dishes and drinks I order. Overall still a pleasant experience.

A splendid overall experience. All of our dishes were made from the highest quality ingredients Finland has to offer. Excellent wine list and friendly staff. We came for the views and will return for the gastronomy.

Summer restaurant on a small island with a beautiful view on Helsinki, 10 mn boatride from Kaivopuisto. The restaurant is a part of old fortress and the main hall was used to stock cannonballs, the floor is tilted to facilitate the charging. Classic Finnish menu with season's delicacies.

This summer restaurant is on the island only 3 minutes away by boat, but has feel of remote island with view to open sea. Food is good too.

I’ve been in this hotel for around 30 weeks (it’s a lot, more than half a year) and I will be there for more weeks in the future, so I think I can do a good review of this hotel. I spent so much time here, so it means that overall it’s a good place to stay. Rooms are good, appreciated the heated floor in the bathroom especially in winter season. Employers are good, all of them are kind, from the reception to the food service in the bistro restaurant. Cleaning of the room it really depends: in the same week we can have good and bad service (glass not changed, tables and sink dirty). But it’s not always, sometimes cleaning is great. So it depends by the worker and it’s difficult to do a review. But in general nothing to complain. I would like to give some advice to the manager based on my experience that could improve a lot the hotel. 1) Gym service. That’s a critical point. The hotel is probably the only one in the city that does not have a gym. They have a kind of agreement with fressi closeby but it’s not free: 8€/session. I asked to the people in the gym and they pay around 25€ per month (less than 1€/session). Going through the hotel is not an advantage at all. It’s something that you pay and you pay a lot, really bad on this point. If you have time and you don’t work in the afternoon, you have to go to the city center fressi (no reception in the closer one) and do your own subscription, so the hotel is basically unuseless here. And it’s really uncomfortable to go in the city center only for this. I think that it’s a service that could be done for free at this level of hotels considering how much they can pay the card for their clients and how much a client pay for the room. I hope this will change in the future, it will be a big improvement 2) Cleaning of forks,knives,spoons,mugs. I understand that we use a lot of them in the day but please give them a check after the dishwasher. Half of the time they are still dirty and it’s not a pleasure to eat with dirty stuff. 3) breakfast. It’s good but always the same during the year. They added pancakes in the last year, very good. I would appreciate more seasonal food (watermelon all over the year in Finland is not so typical) and fresh fruits. In general good. I hope you take in consideration these points when I will return for the next time. Have a nice work and summer!

Got in the rooms around midnight and the staff was still extremely nice and serviceable. They changed our initial room to be on the same floor as the second room so 10/10 for that. We had the breakfast and yeah pretty solid. All in all do recommend the place even if it is 45min by foot and 20 min by tram, honestly worth it.

I don't know whom to blame it on, but hotel is very under staffed. I'll list down issues. Housekeeping is very poor. With no staff available most part of the day. 1. Check at 4 pm is little too much even when traveling with infant. 2. Ac were so weak that it felt like having sauna in the room. Context 28 degrees Helsinki. 3. Ac started leaking like dripping water. I'll put photos and videos. We have to change room after we already unpacked. 4. Toiletries were missing in room with no soap in dispenser. 5. It felt like I'm working in the hotel running around for everything. I like to mention that staff at reception helped as much they could but at the end of the day my day was ruined.

I had a great experience at Meilahti. A special thanks to Martta from reception, who was extremely kind and attentive. She quickly arranged an extra heater for my room and organized a full stayover cleaning. Her professionalism and friendly communication made my stay much more comfortable. We stayed here for four nights in July. Unfortunately, our room wasn't cleaned completely once and not cleaned at all once. We reported this to reception and asked for a monetary apology for the inconvenience. We were told we could only request this via email. We've sent three reminders since then. No response!

Staff are friendly enough, even though slightly blunt. Disappointed that the sauna is only open from 18:00 until 22:00. And I’m also very surprised breakfast is closed by 9:30 on weekdays instead of 10:30.

A very stunning restaurant tucked below the building of Helsinki's east side. The blinis were very good and the service was excellent. We made reservations for Valentine's Day but the place was almost empty. Cold outside but warm and inviting inside!

This place was a pleasant surprise. We had the lunch service. It was delicious. The ambiance was beautiful and cozy and the staff was top notch. I definitely recommend them. We also plan to be repeat customers! BTW: this is the oldest continuously operating restaurant in Helsinki.

A gracefully aged establishment with an entirely genuine feeling. The menu also feels very genuine, at least to the uninitiated eye. It even includes a couple of dishes with bear meat. As expected, robust and tasteful kitchen. Staff attentive and respectful.

Try the fish soup at bistro. Slightly under 10 euros and super tasty. Same price as the ones in the tents near the pier but so much tastier. Staff are super friendly too. There isn’t an English menu but they translated everything so kindly!

Hidden Bistro gem at basement 1. Salmon soup comes in 2 sizes and the large size was sufficient for my family of three to share. Had the pork and we enjoyed watching the chef prepare the dish from slicing the apples to mixing the salad. Staff were fast, efficient and friendly.

I was looking for a high-end spot to celebrate a special birthday lunch, and Salutorget in Helsinki was absolutely perfect! The restaurant has a colorful upscale design and comfortable seating that exudes a relaxed yet elegant vibe. It feels a bit like you're stepping into Alice in Wonderland. The food was fantastic! The French onion soup, burrata, and oysters were over the top in size and flavor and were some of the best I’ve ever had. Drinks were top-notch, and the service was cheerful and attentive throughout the meal. If you’re looking for a memorable lunch or dinner experience in Helsinki, Salutorget is the place to go!

Excellent service! We arrived hungry last minute and kitchen was closed. Our server quickly checked with the kitchen crew if they could take our order and luckily they did. We ordered the reindeer steak and traditional fish dish and a salad to share and raspberry tiramisu. The reindeer steak melted in the mouth and the fishes were delicious. Our servers were polite and friendly. Definitely we want you to be back again.

This used to be a 200 year old bank that is now a restaurant. The place is nicely decorated and the basement vault is now the entrance to the WC. The food was good, tasty, and fresh. Overall, we had a good experience.

Don't miss out on enjoying this place and fabulous people. We were lucky but highly recommend reservations. Lovely lunch and tea was fully booked.

This is a lunch restaurant operating on the ground floor of an old bank. There is plenty of space with tables and chairs for sitting and eating your lunch. Lunch has a great value (13,90€) and consists of a buffet including soup, salad, warm dishes, coffee, and desert. The waitress are very kind and were able to accommodate our request when we asked for nut-free food.

This is my standard Thursday lunch. They have decent starters and a really good salad bar but the main course is of course the pancakes with jam and whipped cream. Even though it is a really big place it can be hard to find seating on Thursdays. It is definitely not the place to have a one on one lunch. One of the few lunch places that stays open all the way through the summer.

We had a full-week company event there with around 100-300 people each day. The venue was generally nice, neat, and clean. However, some TVs didn't work for presentation purpose. Projector's quality in the main hall was horrible (resolution was so low that people on the other half could barely see). Internet connection was completely horrendous - slow and very unstable - ruining our plans of streaming talks. Average price per bottle for standard drinks (coke, Red Bull, mineral water, ...) was €4.8, which was outrageously expensive for a full-week event of that size. Coffee was €6 / person / day and it was among the worst coffees I've ever had. The venue is around 12-15 mins walk from the Central Railway Station - which is okay but expensive location-wise. Never again would I recommend this venue for any events.

Came here for Saturday lunch and it was surprisingly quiet. We ended up ordering way too much but everything was delicious. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is really pretty. I can imagine it being even more cozy and intimate in the evening. Would definitely come back!

Fantastic spot for brunch. Highly recommend and wish I had visited sooner. Will be back for dinner. Very well priced Charcuterie: Absolutely lovely. 100% order. Ordered the small portion and was enough for two. If you get the bread board as well it makes for a great pairing. Was fun to watch the meat be cut on the machine Sage linguine: Didn’t know what to expect but loved by the end of the dish. Suitable for nut allergy as they can remove the pine nuts from the top. Very summery and light. Gnocchi: Summery taste. Friend liked but thought the ratio of sauce to gnocchi wasn’t great. Needed more gnocchi. Shakahouka: Was the least popular dish at the table but the flavour was good. Eggs were fried on top rather than cooked in the tomato sauce which was different. Little spicy for those who don’t eat spice (so watch out!). Bread: Fantasic sourdough. Finland has questionable bread in my opinion but these guys have done it very well. Service: Very very friendly and attentive. Busy place when we arrived so recommend booking.

One of the best restaurants in Helsinki – and still a hidden gem! I’m genuinely surprised this place isn’t packed every night. We walked in without a reservation and were blown away by the whole experience. The food is not just seasonal and fresh – it’s full of talent, charisma, and a deep understanding of what makes something truly delicious. I was especially impressed by the salads. The Panzanella salad was so tasty I honestly wished they served it in an XXL size! I'm not always a fan of fish, but their fillet with yogurt-herb sauce and beans had the perfect flavor, texture, and a touch of Greek summer. The small churros made from fish were bursting with spice and taste. But what really made the evening unforgettable was the atmosphere – warm, welcoming, and relaxed – and the incredibly attentive staff. Nollita is a place I’ll keep coming back to, and one I hope stays just the way it is: quietly excellent.

We came here for an impromptu Thursday night dinner. I would highly recommend Nolita for an easygoing, delicious evening. The aesthetics and atmosphere are wonderful, much like at Elm, Nolita's sister. Most restaurants in Helsinki are somewhat bland or lifeless in that regard; here, you feel like you're transported somewhere. The food was very good, and in particular the starters were amazing. I think next time I'll just order starters because they were so delicious. That's not to say the mains weren't good - we enjoyed especially the gnocchi. One of the waiters (the dude) was perhaps trying to sell us extra a bit too hard, but the other one (the woman) was fantastic.

Nolita left a sour note with its handling of wine service: the light red was brought to the table at clear room temperature, far too warm to enjoy, and when questioned the staff insisted it had been kept in a 10°C fridge, even though the bottles were visibly sitting on a shelf at ambient temperature. Such dismissiveness only made matters worse. In a country where wine is already expensive, it feels careless and disrespectful to serve it so poorly and then deny what is obvious to any customer paying attention.

Our recent visit to Nolita in Helsinki was a mixed bag. While the interior is super nice and the mains were delicious, unfortunately, the ambiance was not complemented by the service we received. Despite having a reservation, we were not greeted warmly or with any hospitality. Instead, we were met with a curt "Can I help you somehow?" No one welcomed us or guided us to our table properly. Only one menu was tossed onto the table for the two of us, which felt dismissive. Since I really wanted to visit Nolita for a long time already, we stayed and ordered the bread plate with dips for two, a burger, and shakshuka. The wait for our food was excessively long. Even the bread plate, which you'd expect to be a quick starter, took about 15 minutes to arrive. The waiter sliced the bread using his hands, without a towel or proper hygiene measures, and then left it waiting for the dips for another like 5 minutes. This was not only unprofessional but also concerning from a hygiene perspective. As a bakery, we had high expectations for the bread plate, but it was a disappointment. The plate consisted of four thin, almost transparent slices of bread on one plate and half slices of grain bread on the other. The burger and shakshuka were good, which made the experience a bit nicer. The burger was juicy and flavorful, and the shakshuka was interesting and delicious - not traditional one, mixed with zucchini and potato. However, these dishes alone were not enough to redeem the overall experience. Even when we finished our meal, it took quite a time for the bill to arrive. The waiters were engaged in conversation with other customers, possibly regulars or friends, and at one point, one of them went outside to play with a child. This lack of attention was frustrating, especially as we were trying to conclude our brunch experience. In summary, while the beautiful interior and enjoyable mains were definite highlights, the uninviting atmosphere and service issues significantly affected our visit. Unfortunately, double thinking now before trying the dinner menu (even though the menu looks very interesting).

Amazing food at the place! Local products and super attentive, informative service all through dinner. The decor could use a bit of love, but honestly, the food made us forget all about it. Both the beer and desserts were outstanding. We'd come back without a doubt — and speaking as Spaniards, we can say the level of cooking is seriously impressive.

Finnjävel Sali deliver in full. The atmosphere was quite relax and goes quite goos if you are looking for not too uptight, but still little fancier place to dine. Service was professional and up to their task. Couple of 4 stars there, because Sali could be more in my opinion. For starters meatpie and pea soup, main flounder and for the dessert icecream cake. To sum up, you should definitely try the meatpie (toripiirakka) and peasoup, as they are undeniably Finnish classics and flounder which is a extremely delicious fish and rarely in the menu in restaurants.

Saturday brunch with a braised mallard duck as the star of the show. These guys take traditional, rough finnish everyday food and raise it to gourmet level. Without loosing the roughness. Autumn is hunting and harvest season and we had autumn tastes. Hard cured moose served like tartar with lingonberry vinegrette, deer fillet with onion jam, smoked trout, wild musrooms, pickled roots with incredbly light crispiness, selfmade bread from sourmilk-sourdough. The mallard was superjuicy and supertender and the mash was like a cloud. Desert "mustikkakukko" was bilberries in bread with ice cream and cardamom sauce.

Tried taking the baby pram around the back as the sign said, no luck in getting in there. Had to carry the pram up the main stairs.
