Cafe
Kaffa Roastery is a renowned coffee spot located in the Punavuori district of Helsinki. Nestled beside the Moko Market, it offers an espresso bar experience with excellent coffee varieties and a detailed explanation of different beans. The roastery's specialty lies in dark espressos and handcrafted coffees, which visitors can enjoy while observing the roasting process through its floor-to-ceiling windows. With a relaxed atmosphere, patrons can savor their drinks alongside their furry companions.
Great coffee and friendly staff. They helped me pick a bag of beans (which are all reasonably priced btw) to take home. If I'm ever in Helsinki again I'm absolutely coming back.

Such a nice coffee roastery and cafe. Tried the espresso soda with elderflower and an espresso. Great strong flavors and the loveliest barista. We also brought some beans home with us. Definitely recommend ! ☕️

Cozy cafe with excellent coffee. The selection of pastries and sandwiches ate also great. The hummus pesto sandwich was fantastic. Nice staff.

This place’s baristas creates the best looking coffees I have experienced so far. It’s foamy, doesn’t get extremely hot and heated (you can drink right away without burning your throat) and the taste is well balanced, but packs with coffees aromatics and flavours. When I ordered Spicy Mocha, it’s actually spicy 🥵🌶️😋 A place worth visiting for Instagrammable, cozy and proper café experience 🌟
Fangda C — Google review
A cozy-meets-industrial basement café with a comfy interior and a window for street orders. Their beans hail from carefully sourced origins, roasted on-site, and baristas handle everything from V60 to Syphon with care.” Locals call it their go-to, micro-roasters and Reddit’s Helsinki coffee guide even names it their personal #1, praising the baristas as among “the best in the city” . If you want coffee that’s both art and craft, served with integrity and just the right level of “I know my beans”, this basement roast temple is worth the pilgrimage.
S M — Google review
1 | A roastery café right next to the Telakakatu tram stop. The oat flat white I had was good. 2 | They use beans from their own roastery. What’s in the grinder is written on a board above the counter. During our visit, they had Ethiopia and Kenya, and guests could choose. 3 | For some reason, I didn’t really like the vibe of the café. It wasn’t very cozy — maybe because of the size of the space, the loud music, the lighting, or how the chairs were arranged. Either way, I didn’t feel completely comfortable sitting there. I thought about taking off a star for that, but the staff were kind and made up for it. 4 | The café sells a wide variety of their roasted beans. They even have a takeaway window, so you can pretty much grab a coffee straight from the tram. 5 | To go with the coffee, they offer both sweet and savory pastries.
Petr N — Google review
House blend is a dark roast (not my favourite) and therefore I picked the single origin. Milk is of the right temperature and texture. Tasty.
Robert K — Google review
A very good café all around! A bit expensive, but the coffee is of great quality and taste. We visited pretty late into the day (17.00) so we missed out on some menu items, so if you want the "full experience" make sure to come early!

Sävy is a charming café located in Kallio, Helsinki. It has been an integral part of the community for many years and is cherished by locals. Originally founded by a renowned coffee power couple, it is now owned by champions in the Finnish coffee industry. Despite being slightly off the beaten track, Sävy is a beloved family-run business that attracts dedicated coffee enthusiasts with its excellent brews and welcoming atmosphere.
I like the atmosphere in the place. No-one’s in a rush and everyone seems to come in there and enjoy whatever they’re ordering. The space feels open, spacious and cozy. I wish they would stay open for longer during the evening since I’ve many times wanted to come here after work… Note: They have good almond croissants (I always have one if available).

This small and cozy space offers delicious coffee. I recommend this place to have a moment of concentration to work. By the way, their playlist is nice with classic rock vibes.

Went for a quick breakfast stop, pastry was good, atmosphere and service were inviting. Been here few times before, finally write a review to support. Some construction going on around the hood at the moment so not the most pleasant view now, but it’s just a phase.

Delicious coffee and nice outdoor relax/ lay down area :)
Katrin N — Google review
Unfortunately the cafe had run out of sandwich options by 13:30 on a Saturday, which was about disappointing, and only had a few breakfast items remaining. There was also limited seating with an odd arrangement of tables. Nice to see the cafe is dog friendly though. The flat white was very good as was the chocolate banana bread. Also highly recommend the yoghurt and granola bowl.
Xan R — Google review
A cozy spot in the neighborhood. I tried their weekend special banana bread, croissant, and flat white. I can say that the food was average. Enjoyable, but not somethind I'd go out of my way to have again. The coffee, on the other hand, was quite decent and pleasant.
Burak Y — Google review
I stopped by for breakfast and it was a pleasant surprise! The prices are in line with the average in Helsinki, but the quality of the pastry I had and the cappuccino surprised me positively. The barista was super friendly, the atmosphere very relaxed and casual. Perhaps the atmosphere was too quiet for my taste, but still: highly recommended!
Elisa Z — Google review
One of the best specialty coffee spots I found in Helsinki. Great, light roast coffees with pleasant fruity notes and little bitterness. The barista works at the roastery so she knows the coffee details intimately and shared great descriptions and recommendations. She pulled perfect, flavor-balanced shots that shone through in plain espresso as well as in a cappuccino. They also offer a nice selection of vegan-friendly pastries and sandwiches. I really enjoyed their cinnamon bun—it was flavorful and not too sweet (I only wish they could warm it up before serving). Overall, lovely spot. It’s a bit out of the way as a tourist, but I’d still recommend stopping by if you can spare the time.

Cafe
Andante Specialty Coffee, located in the Punavuori area of Helsinki, is a popular spot for coffee enthusiasts. The cafe offers a variety of coffees from top roasters across Europe, including Kawa Coffee from Paris and Samples Coffee from Helsinki. In addition to their pour-over menu, Andante also serves homemade desserts like Japanese cheesecake. The name 'Andante' reflects the cafe's philosophy of taking things slow and savoring a good cup of coffee.
This is probably my favorite cafe of all time. We stayed in Helsinki for 5 days and went to this cafe 3/5 days. Here’s everything we tried: Drinks - Matcha latte, both iced and hot. They definitely use ceremonial matcha here, it’s high quality. - Hot hojicha latte. Good, but I prefer matcha. - Flat white. Good, but I still preferred the matcha. Food - Matcha tiramisu. My favorite thing from here, so good. - Basque cheesecake with coffee whipped cream. Super good. - Scone with strawberry and cream. Also super good. - Hojicha canele with apricot cream. I prefer normal canele, but this was still tasty and very unique. - Strawberry daifuku. I usually don’t like daifuku that much, but liked this one a lot. They change their menu regularly, and everything we tried was extremely high quality. Highly highly recommend this place.
Matt L — Google review
Wow! Expectations and reality matched perfectly! The coffee was amazing, the matcha was genuinely delicious, and the toast toppings were so fresh. Everything was just perfect! I’d say the prices are maybe a couple of euros higher than average, but I believe that’s due to the brand Andante is building. If you’re wondering where to go for your midday coffee or breakfast, this is definitely the place to visit. Here you’ll find a tasty and light breakfast, quality drinks, and mouthwatering desserts - and everything looks super Instagrammable, if you know what I mean!
Anna K — Google review
Very nice cafe. Free refill for the filter coffee, which is always very much appreciated. I liked the atmosphere, the pastries looked delicious. The staff were friendly and nice. You can browse through some clothes while queuing for the toilet.
Domna T — Google review
Best coffee I have had in Helsinki (so far, though I doubt anything gets better)! The barista is very knowledgeable and is opening his own roaster soon. Besides the cappuccino I ordered, he made me a special hot pourover which was very smooth. It is also a good place to work (no wifi though). And finally, a special mention to the cinnamon roll! Very fresh and again, probably the best I have had in Helsinki!
Shaan C — Google review
Love this cafe. Japanese style drinks and desserts. They also do all day breakfast. Great coffee, but a bit on the pricy side. Space is very calm, even tho it’s usually packed. Highly recommend their carrot cake!
Milla P — Google review
Lovely coffee place with great quality coffee, they clearly know their beans. They offer a variety of handbrewed slow coffee from more unique coffee beans (such as geisha/gesha beans). Their pastries were very tasty as well. We were delighted to find this place!
Nikita K — Google review
Great specialty coffee shop, pretty well known but lives up to the hype. Sooin is a very knowledgeable barista, super kind and very passionate about coffee. If you are into specialty coffee I would highly recommend a visit. He also roasts his own coffee!
Uhan — Google review
A delightfully quaint and quirky cafe serving a good selection of warm drinks and sweet treats. I highly recommend the hojicha latte and black sesame banana bread. The coffee was more sour and fruity than I usually like but I much prefer darker, French roasts. The decor is eclectic with various different seating options, but the restaurant was a little draughty and cold. Probably depends where you sit. Friendly service.

Cafe
Cafe Regatta, a charming and quaint spot in Helsinki, is a small wooden cabin originally used as a fishing hut. It has become an Instagram hotspot due to its picturesque setting by the Baltic Sea. The cafe's interior is filled with various memorabilia and curiosities, creating a cozy atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy tasty sandwiches, cinnamon buns, or tea while taking in the ocean view from the outdoor seating area.
Beware of the birds if you eat outside, but still absolutely worth the visit. The food, especially the cinnamon buns were fantastic! A cozy great place to grab a bite to eat as you stroll along the waterfront.
K K — Google review
Café Regatta is a charming lakeside café located in a picturesque red cottage by the water. It's a bit of a scenic trip from the city center, but the peaceful ambiance makes it a relaxing destination. The café offers a cozy atmosphere with outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying a coffee and pastry while taking in the lakeside views. The cinnamon roll, though not as moist as expected, had a delightful cardamom fragrance that added a unique touch. The coffee, however, had a slight off taste, possibly due to the water used, which gave it a somewhat plasticky flavor. While the food and drink may not be exceptional, the tranquil setting and rustic charm of the cottage make Café Regatta a pleasant spot to unwind. It's a nice place to visit if you're in the area, but perhaps not worth a special trip solely for the refreshments.
SY — Google review
it was such a romantic little spot surrounded by beautiful nature and lake views. We had a blueberry pie, a cinnamon bun, and a butter bun. all were freshly baked and absolutely delicious. The buns have a strong cardamom flavor, which will be amazing for cardamom lovers like me. but might feel a bit intense if you’re not used to it. As my husband said, after having a cardamom-rich bun, even the coffee started to taste a bit like scorched reindeer 🤣 in a funny, unexpected way! We walked here from Helsinki city center about 40 minutes on mostly flat paths, and it was a pleasant, scenic walk. The café has a rustic, homey atmosphere with outdoor seating right by the water. Perfect place to relax, chat, and soak in the Finnish charm. Highly recommend stopping by!
Chlochlo — Google review
Such a lovely place! Small but very cozy inside. I guess that is very nice to sit outside in the summer. I took cinnamon bun and was super delicious, soft and warm, just perfect. They have also very good coffee. Definitely place worth to visit ☺️
Natalia K — Google review
Small and charming café located by the sea in the north of Helsinki. I tried a cinnamon roll, blueberry pie, and hot chocolate — all delicious, especially the fresh pastries. The place has cozy outdoor seating with a fire to keep you warm, perfect for enjoying the sea view even on chilly days. A must-visit spot for anyone looking for a peaceful local touch with great Finnish bakery classic.
Serter Y — Google review
Beautiful cozy romantic coffee spot behind Sibelius Park! We got here by mistake because we were visiting Sibelius Park. After we dis all the touristy stuff there, a walk along the a lake called our attention and we walked over there. Then we saw this cute little cabana. We didn’t try any of the food (which looked amazing) because we had already eaten but we had a tea and spent a lovely time here. I am surprised I didn’t read about this place but it is something you should consider to stop by when visiting Helsinki.
Carlos P — Google review
Helsinki: --- Cafe Regatta is a charming little spot with an absolutely beautiful view of the water — definitely the highlight of the visit. The café itself has a cozy, rustic feel, which adds to its character. The coffee and snacks are decent, though nothing too special. It’s a nice place to stop by and enjoy the surroundings, especially on a sunny day, but it’s more about the atmosphere and location than the food itself.
Kalina M — Google review
Time flies and nothing changes. Luckily. Atmosphere here is amazing, so every time I’m in Helsinki, I’m coming back. Drinking coffee or a cacao here on the coast is just a pure pleasure. And prices are reasonable although it’s a really popular place.

Cafetoria Café & Shop is a pioneer in Finland's Third Wave coffee scene, with three locations offering a cozy atmosphere and top-quality coffee. Founded by Ivan Ore and Mia Nikander, the café emphasizes quality and sustainability by roasting their own beans and building relationships with supplying farms. The main location, housed in an Art Deco building, is a popular stop for locals and tourists visiting the nearby Temppeliaukion Church.
Came in to Cafetoria to get warm and dry after some rainfall during our recent stay in Helsinki. We chose Cafetoria because of the great Google Reviews and we were not disappointed! The staff were friendly and spoke great English, they also brought drinks and hot food to the table. The interior is bright and cosy, the seats were comfortable and definitely helped us rest up after a walking-heavy day. The coffee was fantastic, I had an oat milk flat white and my mom had a cappuccino. I loved the flavor of the beans used and I disagree with a different review on here that said that the oat milk killed the flavor of the beans - I feel like they complimented each other well. The drinks were at perfect temperature, too - just right to start drinking right after being served without burning your mouth or the milk not tasting right. Their pistachio croissants were lovely and fresh and we felt they were a good value for the price, considering how expensive pistachios are. My mom also had a pastry stuffed with beef and she loved it. All in all I highly recommend this place and if I’m ever back in Helsinki I will make an effort to come again!
Taemint 6 — Google review
The coffee and lemon dessert here are both absolutely delicious. The lattes are made very carefully and taste perfect. Best coffee I've had in Finland
Iisak P — Google review
I went into Cáfetoria for “just one coffee” and left questioning every life decision I’ve made that involved drinking anything else. The baristas here don’t just make coffee, they conduct a full-blown performance....beans are treated with more respect than most corporate managers give their employees. The espresso hit me so hard I briefly considered starting a tech company, running a marathon, and calling my mom all at the same time. The pour-over? Smooth enough to convince me Helsinki winter is actually tolerable. Atmosphere: cozy but not sleepy. Service: so friendly that I almost tipped in advance, just out of anticipation. Coffee: dangerously good. If you’re in Helsinki and skip this place, I’m not saying you’ve failed in life… but you’ve definitely made a questionable strategic decision. Would 100% come back, even if it means re-mortgaging my apartment for another flat white.
S. H — Google review
Their home made ice cream was yummy, only available in several flavors, recommend the banana bread ice cream.
Nuch S — Google review
Everything was perfect. The coffee (their own, Cafetoria Gran Palomar, as they are a coffee roastery the Spanish style sandwich (I forgot its fancy name :) ), the pistacchio croissant. The prices were not higher than elsewhere. Will visit again. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Vesa T — Google review
Well I wanted to make sure that I had several visits in and had tried the products before leaving a review. Let's just say that I know coffee and have experienced some of the best from my home in Canada. I now live here and I really wanted to find a quality light roasted bean. Cafetoria's Gran Palomar light is perfection. Then, there's the baristas, the owner, the atmosphere and none of it disappoints. Töölö is my favourite location. It's a cozy place to sit on a rainy day, enjoy a latte and watch the world go by. I know that there are so many cool cafes in Helsinki, but this is a must for a special cafe experience.
Peter B — Google review
We had a Rwandan hand poured and the dark roast oat milk flat white. Both were excellent, very clear in the flavours and well rounded in their body. The counselling at the counter which bean to choose was helpful. The atmosphere is light. All in all highly recommend.

Established in 1852, Ekberg 1852 is a historic cafe, bakery, and patisserie nestled in the heart of Helsinki. This family-run establishment has retained its traditional charm and is renowned for its unchanged menu featuring classic pastries and sandwiches. The cafe offers a grand ambiance reminiscent of Central Europe and provides a spacious outdoor seating area ideal for people-watching on Helsinki's Boulevard.
While walking around Helsinki’s city center, we stumbled into a lovely street lined with trees and a tram running through — a very pleasant area. We were looking for a lunch spot and noticed that many places in Helsinki offer lunch menus between 11 and 2. We ended up at this bistro, where for €14.5 we had an all-you-can-eat lunch that included healthy options like chicken, a variety of side dishes, fresh salads, and even guacamole. Coffee and water were also included in the price. The atmosphere inside was warm and inviting, with a charming old bistro feel. And as a nice surprise for us Hungarians, there was even a dessert called “Budapest” on offer.

It is expensive. Americsni 5.20, the famaus dessert 9.90. The buffet in the weekdays is more affordable and you can refill your table&coffee. They can give you an hour if you came without reservation. I came here sunday 11:30 and it was really bussy inside. But they are saying that your order will be in 15 min. So it is good to be informed.

Oldest Bakery in Helsinki. We decided to start our day here for breakfast and experience the oldest cafe. During the week breakfast is a buffet.. a very good buffet at that. We did also order a cinnamon bun as well and it was awesome. Staff were so cute and lovely. The atmosphere felt modern but also historic. We enjoyed our breakfast here. I have heard there is long lines for the bakery but we were here really early and not in high season so there were no crowds. You can make reservations for breakfast.

Absolute must-visit if you love cafés. This one has gorgeous interior, amazing staff and the best sweets. The cinnamon bun I had was huge, full of spices and butter. Many people here argue that it is too expensive but we spent 30 euros incl. the tip and I would pay even more for this experience.

Lives up to the hype! Warm and attentive service, delicious food and a wonderful view of Senate Square - what more could you want! We came here twice during our short time in Helsinki.

If you come to Helsinki and have no idea where to go, then I would happily suggest Café Engel ! Close to the Cathedral, it's a lovely little place, with delicious food - and I have gone multiple times with friends. I would also heartily recommend their salmon soup, my personal fave !
Tessa M — Google review
Our first stop after arriving in Helsinki, Café Engel was the perfect place for a tired traveler. The ambiance is calm, airy, and welcoming, making it easy to relax after a journey. We tried the salmon soup, which was warming and flavorful, the meatballs with mashed potatoes, hearty and comforting, and a side of fresh berries, which added a nice light touch. Everything was fresh and satisfying, and the atmosphere made it a great way to kick off our time in the city. Ideal for breakfast, lunch, or just a restorative break after travel.

Lovely, fresh and delicious food. We came here for some lunch after exploring Helsinki in the rain. Cosy and warm atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Highly recommended if you’re in Helsinki. Don’t miss meatball dish, it’s just yummy. Drinks were nice and you can slowly enjoy the food with the view outside the window. The food served quick.

I had reindeer meat and mashed potatoes with sparkling water. It was fresh but for first try it has different taste especially red berries. As a desert I had blueberry cake it was so delicious.
Atahan C — Google review
Food was great. We got the blueberry desserts. Can't the names but those were really good! Price-wise, it was okay but this is the first cafe we tried in Helsinki so I have no reference to compare it with.
Bernard P — Google review
We visited Café Engel during a weekday lunch. Although the restaurant was quite busy, we managed to find seats without much difficulty. Orders were placed through the waitress, and I chose the meatballs. The food was served promptly, and the meatballs were decent. However, I wished there had been more sauce to accompany the mashed potatoes for a more satisfying balance of flavours.

Johan & Nyström - Kanavaranta is a renowned specialty coffee roaster with nearly two decades of experience, known for its high-quality coffee. With locations in Sweden and Finland, the Helsinki branch is conveniently situated near popular tourist attractions such as the Uspenski Cathedral and Kauppatori market square. The cozy space offers a warm atmosphere with friendly staff, making it an ideal spot for both specialty coffee enthusiasts and travelers waiting to catch the next boat.
Great place to start your Sunday morning. I had avacado egg on rye bread and pistachio bun with lungo. Cozy place and you either sit inside or outside.
Atahan C — Google review
Had a lot of expectations but got disappointed. The flat white was average as same as the yoghurt but liked the croissant. My friend liked his quiche. The service was in holiday mood and so everything needed a lot of time. The location was nice and I guess in summer the atmosphere will be wonderful.
Rob Z — Google review
I hold a fairly high bar when it comes to quality in the cup and to the professionalism of the people behind the bar. Johan & Nyström not only met but exceeded those expectations. I had their batch brew made with the Strawberry Roast. While batch brew often plays second fiddle to hand-brewed methods, this cup demonstrated just how refined a well-prepared batch brew can be. The coffee was vibrant, with a clean fruit profile and a subtle retro-nasal strawberry note that lingered beautifully. Balanced, expressive, and highly enjoyable – proof that a batch brew can absolutely showcase the nuances of a carefully sourced and roasted coffee. I also purchased beans to take home, and the advice I received from the barista was spot-on. Their knowledge was clear, but what struck me most was the way they shared it: approachable, enthusiastic, and with genuine passion. Watching them work made it obvious that they not only understand their craft but also enjoy it, which is something you can taste in the final product. In short, Johan & Nyström deliver exactly what a specialty coffee shop should: excellent coffee, prepared with care, and a team that clearly takes pride in what they do.

I had a relaxing breakfast here on my last day in Helsinki. The staff were warm and respectful — the kind of gentle kindness that stays with you. The atmosphere was calm and cozy, with natural light pouring in, perfect for a quiet solo meal. I ordered a fresh salad, a buttery croissant, and a smooth flat white — everything was well-prepared and exactly what I hoped for. It's a peaceful place to start the day, and one I’ll remember fondly.

The interior of the cafe looks nice and cosy. Real nice atmosphere inside with the staff being helpful and understanding. It is a bit pricey for its location however the quality was high in terms of coffee. The reindeer and mushroom quiche could have included at least more meat as you could barely taste it. Overall a good experience however I could recommend getting pastries instead of actual dishes.

One standout option features goats cheese, rocket, red pesto, and tomato on ciabatta—simply delicious!
Great omelette with salad and avocado, bread with salmon, also great and the highlight chia with fruit and nuts really dreamy! The coffee is also excellent

Didn’t have anything to eat, but La Torrefazione had the second best coffee I’ve had in Helsinki and they truly are for serious coffee lovers. Nestled in the heart of Helsinki, The Good Coffee Company is a charming café and restaurant that has been delighting locals and visitors alike since its inception three years ago by Bernhard, who hails from Klagenfurt. This cozy spot not only serves up some of the freshest coffee around—roasted right on-site—but also champions a meaningful cause in Ethiopia, where their beans are sourced.
What a fantastic little gem in downtown Helsinki! A German friend of ours had suggested we visit this place for it's Austrian beer tasting evening. Finally, some good advice from him! The place was small, but cosy. The owner who was serving was super nice and very knowledgeable about all the beers. Happy to answer every question thrown his way. The beers were amazing! Especially the radler. I'd highly recommend visiting for a coffee or beer there. Supporting little unique and authentic businesses like this is vital to keeping originality alive and kicking :)
Oh N — Google review
The café is small but cozy, offering a variety of specialty coffee from Vienna. I tried two Americanos—one made with beans from Vienna and the other from Ethiopia. I enjoyed the Ethiopian one more. The breakfast was simple: the omelette and quiche were just okay, but the homemade bread was wonderful. The goulash, however, was exceptional.
Smile S — Google review
I stopped in here on a rainy day. The owner was so very friendly. He even offered me the WiFi without asking. And I love the WiFi name.(see photo). My latte was wonderful and it was so lovely to get warmed up so I could go out and sightsee some more. Stop in!
Michelle S — Google review
Probably the best coffee in the city center, right in the heart of the capital. The coffee, which is quite rare, is organic, from Ethiopia, and—importantly—freshly roasted and personally prepared by the owner. You can also buy it as beans or ground to take home and brew yourself. The café offers a wide selection of Austrian desserts as well as main dishes, and it’s notable that you can buy real Austrian beer—there’s a huge variety. What’s even more impressive is that the café hosts different language meetups every day, so you can come and practice a language. Great atmosphere, calm and peaceful. Highly recommend visiting—definitely worth it.

Such an awesome Coffee Shop! The Barista is Super-Kühl and the Vibes are GAS! Without a doubt THE BEST COFFEE I've had here in Helsinki. The No. 4 blend is particularly great! A nice dark roast with notes of Chocolate and Hazelnut!💪🧐☕️ Much appreciated and I hope to be back and try it all again! -Nico
Nicolaus S — Google review
Cozy but not my favorite place. Their coffee is a dark roast and I found it way too bitter. I was curious and tried their pumpkin spice latte and though I appreciated that they seemed to use true spices (it came from a powder vs a packaged syrup) it was unpleasant to drink as it was extremely bitter, to the point of tasting soapy. Pastries looked stale, so I didn’t opt to try any of them. Staff was very friendly and the place is comfortable, but I won’t be returning.

Cute spot, lovely design. Their selection of food is limited so keep that in mind if extra hungry. They have a few cakes and sandwiches at least. Tried the mustard and meat sandwich, as well as their carrot cake. Liked both! Sandwich came in a cute paper bag which was nice, although unnecessary as I got a plate too. Both of the coffees I had were delish! Cappuccino and a ”regular” coffee went down with ease. Friendly staff! Place is small, less than 10 seats.

Nestled in the heart of Helsinki, Roberts Coffee Jugend is a stunning café that beautifully showcases Art Nouveau architecture. Designed by the esteemed architect Lars Sonck in the early 1900s, this spacious venue features impressive vaulted ceilings and elegant stone pillars. Patrons can indulge in an array of freshly roasted coffees and delightful handmade gelato crafted on-site.
[HELSINKI, FINLAND] Cinnamon rolls 🥐 seems to be a staple here in almost every cafe in Helsinki, and I'm glad that I've had a good one at this grand outlet of Robert's Coffee. It was soft and fluffy, with a prominent but not overpowering cinnamon flavour and not too sweet as well. The sugar pieces on top added an extra crunchy texture. This is perfect with a hot cup of latte in the cold autumn weather. Extra compliments would be given to how grand their cafe looks like. What a vibe really!

Robert’s Coffee Jugend strikes the perfect balance between quality coffee and welcoming atmosphere. The team here is exceptional - friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. You can tell they take pride in their craft, and it shows in every cup. The space itself is wonderfully inviting, whether you’re looking to settle in with a laptop for some focused work, unwind with a good book, or catch up with friends over conversation. There’s something special about the ambiance that makes you want to linger - it feels like a true community hub where everyone is welcome. And let’s talk about the coffee - it’s simply excellent. From their expertly pulled espressos to their carefully crafted specialty drinks, every sip delivers on quality and flavor. You can taste the attention to detail in their sourcing and preparation. Robert’s Coffee Jugend has become my go-to spot for all occasions. Whether I need a productive work environment, a relaxing retreat, or a place to socialize, this café delivers every time. Highly recommended for anyone seeking great coffee in an atmosphere that feels like home.

The interior has a nice historical charm, and the food was acceptable. However, the coffee was quite bitter. Robert’s Coffee is one of my go-to spots in Helsinki, especially in the mornings. The building itself is beautiful, and it offers a welcoming atmosphere no matter the time of day. The space is spacious and always has seating available, even during the busier hours, which is a rarity in such a popular city. The menu is simple yet satisfying, with a selection of fresh salads and, of course, great coffee. It’s the perfect place to stop by if you’re a traveler looking for a reliable spot to anchor your day in the city. I’ve found it to be a great place to relax, recharge, and plan my next adventure. A really nice place, I keep wanting to come back again and again. They have a great selection of drinks, including some you don’t find anywhere else in Helsinki, plus delicious cakes and pastries! I haven’t had the chance to try their savoury options during brunch yet, but I definitely will one day
Kate — Google review
The brunch options were absolutely delicious and the salads had such an amazing dressing that we had to ask the waiter about it, so good! As for the french toast, I wish it had less jam, for it was too much, too sweet and a little overwhelming. As for the drinks, they were good and so was the yogurt. The service and the place itself were great too!

A decent café nearby the Senate Square, vibrant colours in the cafe offering coffees, matcha, and hojicha drinks 😋 The raspberry lemon cake is delicious, fillings are just nice and not too sweet. This cafe can be busy with tourists so prepared to wait for an available table.

One of the best cortado in Helsinki for me! The vegetarian eggplant arrabiata during lunch service was top notch as well! Overall great place to grab a coffee and some savoury/sweet bites.
Vy N — Google review
It's not a good place for lunch or drinks. The food is snobbish and pretentious. It's expensive and doesn't have the best flavor or presentation. The blackberry pie is dry, the cheesecake is tiny and partially broken, the salmon bites are dry, and the one with avocado is pathetic. The orange juice comes from a Tetra Pak. My recommendation is to leave the museum and go to the Fazer, around the corner, or to the Roberts Cafe. The service is good, but I won’t come back just for a friendly hello. I need good coffee as well.

The café has a charming shabby chic atmosphere. The chai latte, lemon tart, and cinnamon bun were excellent. Unfortunately, the service was a major downside— the baristas were quite rude and seemed almost annoyed by the presence of customers. Prices are high, but that’s to be expected in Helsinki.

Pastry was good and the service was polite. The restaurant was a bit "all over the place" although I think it is more of style than accident. Very laid back feel to it. But not something I enjoy. I might just be too old (50+) for the place:)

Fine place for a cup of coffee, or tea. A cake or something savory could not be missed, so I got the banana cake. I would advise they cut the pieces in equal size, as they can be big, or just too small 😅. The atmosphere is cozy, like your old man's living room. The St. George bakery is a popular establishment on the street-front of the hotel, serving up fresh bread and pastries to hotel guests in the morning and anyone else looking for a delicious café with freshly baked goods. Highlights include Finnish rieska bread, which pairs well with shrimp salad sandwich fillings, as well as more luxurious items like croissants and éclairs.

Aleksandra M — Google review
The place is very popular, so finding a seat can be challenging. Although the name suggests it’s a bakery, the pastries seem rather ordinary. They look good, but the taste is nothing special. The savory avocado sandwich was left uneaten because it had a bitter taste. Savory sandwiches would be better if they were grilled—without grilling, the bread is quite dense and not as enjoyable. The coffee comes with free refills, which is a nice touch. Overall, I’d rate it a 3.

The place was pretty empty and quiet when we went there. We got two pastries to-go. We didn’t have to wait long in line and the pastry selection was pretty wide. The prices were okay considering it’s in Helsinki. The taste was also quite good.

Don't be fooled from the outside, which looks very sterile and just attached to a fancy hotel. Step through the door, down the steps, through the glass doors and into a little gem. Its constantly busy and has a very vibrant/bustling but relaxed atmosphere. Around the corner you'll find an array of fresh bread sandwiches with allsorts of fillings, pastries (the cinnamon bun is gorgeous😉) and fancy cakes. There are a range of coffees and teas too. You can sit at a table or more comfy sofas. It has a lovely decor.

Had the seasonal bun which had raspberry jam and vanilla cream with cardamom. Just perfect with a silky macchiato enjoyed on the terrace area in front. Peaceful with beautiful views of the park opposite.

Cute bakery with nice atmosphere. The pastries were good and so was the coffee. The price is normal for Helsinki. I just wish they had a few more comfortable seating options. We had to sit in a corner and the table was too low and small

Way Bakery is a local gem nestled in the Kallio neighborhood of Helsinki. This charming bakery, housed in a former dentist's surgery, offers an array of delectable treats and dishes. The menu features hearty breakfasts, flavorful lunches, and seasonal evening offerings paired with a selection of wines. The bakery takes pride in producing over 100 organic sourdough loaves during the weekends from its cozy kitchen space.
fresh bakery.. we had breakfast there we ordered one avocado toast with a hard boiled egg which took five minutes longer than usual. They informed us about that upon ordering also we had two plank croissants, one cappuccino one Americano and when granola whole food was good and excellent service they had cool water bottles with free refills all that for 35€ but it is way hot inside and very sunny outside

I enjoy a great Latte, I am a HUGE espresso lover. The presentation of pastries were very enticing. So we decided to try both sweet and savory, paired with lattes. The prices were moderate, but truthfully just a bit on the pricey side if I were to be totally honest. To balance the price you're paying; the quality of the food was excellent. The bakery is on the smaller side, and was very crowded when we arrived. We found a space near the window and awaited or food. The presentation and taste was divine, and the lattes were PERFECT. The only down side is that it can get very crowded and it is not a spacious vibe, like the beauty of Heritage Cafe, but it is it's own jewel of a quaint spot for a quick latte and top tier pastry.

Cute little cafe! A must-visit if you’re in Helsinki. Coffee was decent, beautiful minimalist interior, and the pastries are serve on a pottery plate. The hazelnut fig cake is delicious 😋 friendly barista too!
Thorston S — Google review
Cozy little place with breakfast options, baked goods and other desserts. Loved the interior. There are several seats inside and plenty more outside, with heaters to keep you warm. My only feedback is that I wished the pastry of the sausage roll was warmer and crispier. The roll was kind of cold and the pastry was soggy. Perhaps it's just a personal preference. I still enjoyed it despite that and would come back here to try other things in the future.

A cosy little bakery, also has outside heated seating. Not many places to sit. I especially liked their sausage roll Wifi is decent

Rams Roasters is a charming coffee shop located in Southern Helsinki, offering a cozy atmosphere and a diverse selection of beans sourced from top roasters across Europe. The cafe is renowned for its delectable pastries, particularly the famous cinnamon buns that are in high demand. Visitors can enjoy a variety of sweet and savory treats, including the highly recommended blueberry tart served with warm oat milk cream.
1 | A very cozy little café with excellent coffee. If I lived in Helsinki, a large part of my paycheck would probably end up here. 2 | The oat flat white was one of the best I’ve had recently. The coffee had a beautifully full flavor. My girlfriend had a filter and she praised it as well. 3 | Looking back, I regret a little that we came right after a meal and didn’t try the cocoa roll or another treat from the counter. All the pastries looked very good. 4 | Prices at the café are fairly high, but they match the quality of the experience. Espresso and americano are €4.50, cappuccino is €5.40, and flat white is €5.20. They also offer nitro cold brew as a specialty. If you’ve never had it, I highly recommend it. Thanks to the nitrogen, it’s creamier. 5 | The café itself is quite small inside and is laptop-free. In nice weather you can sit outside. It’s cozy and a very pleasant place to spend time. Customers were coming and going, and I felt that many were regulars. I can’t blame them, the staff was excellent. All in all, it was an outstanding coffee experience.

Still thinking about this cinnamon roll - a perfect little treat! It’s a little sweet (it has crystallized sugar on the bottom), but definitely worth having it with coffee. They sold out of cardamom buns even right after opening, so I’ll have to try it next time. Would definitely come back!

Small place, great location, and packs BIG flavor in both their pastries and coffee. Cinnamon roll was phenomenal and not overly sweet. Coffee and cookie were a perfect pair. Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re anywhere in Helsinki; worth a short trip.

We visited this small café specifically because it is supposedly one of the best places in Helsinki for cinnamon rolls. The rolls were fabulous and fresh, baked on the spot. During our visit, an elderly gentleman even stopped by just for the fresh rolls. The coffee was also good, and the service was relaxed. A pleasant visit on the route from Czechia to Helsinki.

Bakery Eatery Levain Töölö is a popular spot in Helsinki, known for its hearty brunch, pastries, and coffee. The café exudes the charm of a Californian brunch joint and the finesse of a Parisian patisserie. Their signature sourdough bread and Portuguese pastel de nata tarts are highly recommended.
My favourite brunch & breakfast in town, both eat in and via food delivery app. The egg sandwich is so rich with flavour and the pancakes are so fluffy. My fave is perhaps the yogurt with homemade granola, a bit too sweet but hits the spot regardless.

Had to pay a visit at lunchtime to test the new Summer menu and as per usual, Levain did not disappoint! The atmosphere is unique and the menus offer a wide range of both all-day breakfast and lunch dishes along with the sweets and drinks. We ordered two fresh Summer salads, one with cold smoked salmon and one plain, accompanied by an oat cappuccino. Really tasty! The staff was kind to explain us how the ordering process works the first thing we entered, even without us asking. The customer’s toilet had run out of soap and was not the tidiest I’ve seen, but otherwise an excellent experience! <3

Lovely egg sandwich. Had the menu with egg sandwich, müsli, nuts and yogurt, juice and coffee. 21€. Asked for cappuccino instead of filtered coffee, had to pay an extra euro for that. I total 44€ for two. A wonderful brunch, just a little too salty from time to time. Very friendly staff. You have to order and pay at the counter. Water, cutlery, napkins are provided. You just have to get them yourself. We will definitely return! 👍🏼☺️

I was really happy to make it to the original Cafe Fazer while in Helsinki. The food was delicious. I am still dreaming about this salmon with lemon whipped butter. The barista/server at the counter was also very helpful and kind to me, considering I had no idea what cake to order. Everything was delicious! Would definitely come back.

Paula who assisted me this morning was beyond sweet and incredibly helpful. I asked for vegan options, and she personally walked me around the store showing me everything from chocolate and jelly beans to pastries, sandwiches, and cake. Please note that they do not carry oat milk version of Karl Fazer chocolatees. I came in around 1000 in the morning, and it wasn’t crowded at all. The flagship store is absolutely beautiful. I had a coffee with soy milk that was delicious, and I enjoyed sitting outside while I peoole watched. CC accepted

During our trip to Helsinki, we visited this wonderful restaurant located right by the sea. It’s conveniently accessible, with a Hop-On Hop-Off stop nearby. We were quite disappointed at the place considering that it had good reviews. It is conveniently close to the hop on hop off bus stop, and there is a nice view. Out of all the meals we had in Helsinki, this is a the bottom of the list. The bread was not fresh, overpriced for what we had.

Its hard to find good cappuccino in Helsinki, but this place came closest, it lacks a bit in wholeness of body taste, but latte art is nice and overall it did taste the best of what I tried here, so, if you dont mind to pay a bit more, this is a place for a decent coffee. I can’t find the right words, when it comes to describing this place. Cafe Carusel isn’t just a coffee spot or a restaurant. It actually feels like home. Very nice and cozy place, full of locals too, it's a bit outside the touristic path. Food was great, had fish and chips and a salmon pie, both delicious and well made. Great selection of drinks also, desserts, smoothies, sandwiches and other quick bites. The staff is super nice and helpful, they were patient to explain how everything is organized. There is no table service here, but that's perfectly fine, albeit a bit confusing in the beginning. I had Aalto breakfast which is the very basic one. I would say it made me some combination I never tried, and that is a good thing. Salad with white meat fish looks awesome. Café Succès, established in 1957, is a traditional bakery and roastery located in an elegant neighborhood known for its antique shopping. The café is famous for its large cinnamon rolls, which have been a beloved treat in Finland since the 18th century. These cardamom-flavored pastries were initially enjoyed by the upper classes but gained popularity among all social groups after World War II.
I came passing by Helsinki and wanted to try some local food. First I had a delicious pastry and coffee for breakfast and then I stayed in the nice atmosphere of this place until lunch, when I took the typical salmon soup. Trendy coffeeshop at Vaasankatu, the quality of coffee served is high and the staff are knowledgeable about coffee. The selection of pastries and food available have always been a delight. The open wall to the barbershop next door brings a lot of personality to the place! Relove was a vibe. The thrift store + cafe were so cute. Even the washroom was beautifully decorated. The food and drinks were tasty. Definitely worth a visit.

A perfect mix of a trendy café and a charming second-hand shop! The atmosphere is cozy, and the pastry selection is amazing, it was hard to choose, but the buns looked too good to pass up. Paired with a cappuccino, it was a great little coffee break. A lovely spot.

A cute cafe and a cute secondhand clothing store. The cakes in the showcase are beautiful. The cappuccino is also delicious. The cakes are a little sweet for me, but I guess that's how cakes in other countries are. The cafe staff are also very friendly.

The best coffee I had in my whole life. When I tried their Cortado for the first time I was lost for words, it was an explosion of fruitiness! It had such a perfectly balances taste and aroma of berries and chocolate, I fell in love forever and was counting days till my next trip to Helsinki to run to this place immediately after my arrival, what I did of course and got the best possible coffee again. Cozy atmosphere, great location, pleasant interior, it's the pearl of the coffee scene.

Stopped in at this place on my way to another specialty coffee shop and I am so happy I came here instead! The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. High quality coffee roasted and served by them. The washed Ethiopian on filter was clean, fruity and perfectly brewed. The milk was nicely steamed for the cortado and the Organic Colombian was a nice compliment with milk. If I lived in Helsinki, this would be a regular stop for me. Highly recommend visiting.

Great new cafe and wine bar. Karelian pie was maybe the best I have ever tasted, loved the crunchy crust. Coffee was good and beer/wine selection is good and reasonably prices. The most amazing cafe in the entirety of Helsinki. Like a set fro a movie about Japan shot by a Finnish director or a movie about Finland shot by a Japanese director (take your pick). Excellent coffee and pastries.

A unique cafe, quiet relaxing atmosphere. The filtercoffe was great and we bought a bag roasted on the same day, freshest bag we ever got at a roastery. There is a no photos sighn at the door probably because there is also a sauna , this explayns the lack of photos here on maps.

The space is super beautiful, calm, quiet and minimalist, unfortunately cannot say the same about the food, the cinnamon bun I bought was not good at all but the coffee is better than in other places in helsinki but not mind blowing. The people there are kind and the sauna is good but there are nicer saunas in the city.

We chose this cafe after reading all the great reviews and we were definitely not disappointed! What a WONDERFUL find- a cafe off the beaten track, cosy with great hot chocolate and coffee not to mention authentic Austrian crepes/ pancakes made from scratch with Austrian apricot jam (we orders cream as an extra add on). Austrian schnitzel and beef goulash - awesome and the yummiest organic eggs cooked to perfection. Oh, the lovely owner batch roasts Ethiopian beans (also supporting the area where the beans come from) and hosts local Finnish speaking get togethers a couple of times a week. Café Esplanad is a popular spot located on the north side of the Esplanade, surrounded by stylish design boutiques. The café also serves mix-and-match salads, filled bread rolls, and other confectioneries alongside Helsinki's best coffee.
Very nice cafe, great location with nice view and option on the terrace in good weather☀️ The Cinnamon Bun and Salmon Soup are the must have in Helsinki and here I must say it was delicious 😋 The cafe is well maintain and clean, waitresses are nice, patient and friendly. The portion of cinnamon bun is big and really soft and nice ! They have other fresh daily pastry, The salmon soup is very creamy and salmon taste fresh, a must have too !
Adel A — Google review
Cafe in a beautiful building at the prime location in Helsinki should do much better. In short, ambient was downgraded by untidy toilets and dirty plates in various tables. Even though place was half full, waiting tike was rather long. Quality of food and treats were not great as, for instance, the humongous cinnamon bun was dry. I would recommend a visit turku cafe art, or other locations where historically valuable sites have been made into their best use. And to be honest, pricing is off the chart: a small non-alcoholic beer costs 9,50 euro?
Niko H — Google review
Bakery and drink were nice, friendly staffs. Don’t miss the hot chocolate.

Cozy local café offering traditional Finnish pastries. Quality is good and flavors are authentic, though the service and atmosphere could feel a bit more welcoming. Long queues are typical and the feeling of elbows touching with the guests sitting next to you is common.

I always admired the café's veranda as I walked along Esplanade. Finally, we decided to check it out inside :) It's a charming historical bakery with its original interior. I ordered a cafe latte and a crunchy almond pastry. Both items were delicious. Luckily I found a table by the window and enjoyed people watching while eating but the table had not been cleared so I had to eat with the prior customer's dishes on the same table. The cafe seems to offer a lot of savory dishes as well including soup, salads and basic sandwiches. The bathroom could have done with a bit of cleaning. The cafe has a ton of seating that goes into the back and some outdoor tables and chairs as well.

Café Vanille is a charming spot located in the Russian merchants quarter of Suomenlinna island fortress. The café boasts an old-fashioned European aesthetic, reminiscent of a fairy tale or Jane Austen novel. It offers a selection of coffee and traditional Finnish cakes, including sweetbuns, as well as custom-made cakes for special occasions. Visitors to Suomenlinna will find it to be an ideal place to take a break and unwind after exploring the area.
Amazing, cozy place with no-laptop policy (10/10, super cool) Visited with my friend and dog 25.02.2025, barista was super nice, brough us water bowl for my dog and made very good kakao, the mint one was tooo sweet, but it's the preference thing, the quiche was perfect 👌 Not to much space, but there is everything you need for a good coffee brake. Dog-friendly for all sizes, which is very important for me, when I go for a walk on Suomenlinna with my dog. Definitely worth the visit 😌

This charming cafe is known for its cinnamon roll. I thought the cinnamon roll was okay, but not the reason to visit. I suppose I’m much more used to a moister, and sweeter version we find in the US. Last month in Arizona, I had a cinnamon roll at Sedonuts that was nearly mind blowing. The coffee was excellent, and the atmosphere first rate.
Floyd A — Google review
Definitely worth a visit if you are in Suomenlinna visiting the Fortress. Got the blueberry pie and hot chocolate. The blueberry pie was very tasty and not overly sweet. Complimented well with the vanilla sauce. The hot chocolate was just standard. Saw other tables with the salmon soup which looked delicious. Customer service was welcoming and very friendly.

Beautiful location. Very cosy place. As of food, you have to try their carelian pie - it is very delicious, but the coffee was so-so (overheated and so on), so the pie saved the evaluation, otherwise I would put a bit lower score. Very polite service. Toilet available.

Café Tin Tin Tango in Helsinki, Finland is a unique spot that combines laundry services with a cozy café and bar atmosphere. You can take care of your laundry while enjoying breakfast or sipping on adult beverages in the evening. The café offers a warm and inviting environment for patrons to relax, study, or meet up with friends.
Helsinki’s « Café Socéité » is unprecedented ! Like a Woody Allen film it has « Charm charm charm »! Wonderfully warm and inviting milieu for many in this part of Töölö, its ambiance provides the patrons a comfortable intimate interior, for study, to relax, meetup with friends, colleagues, neighbors, or others professionally and such that this mutuality reflects a unique relaxed atmospheric environment. The hospitality of staff is tremendously inviting, ‘med kahvi’ and pastries all day long. Perfect for visiting guests who need a respite to catchup on laundry needs while enjoying the cosmopolitan conversations enveloping the table side closeness. One of the many outstanding venues found in the city that offers everyone a spot to also unwind and regroup. Highly recommended for hotel guests from the nearby Crowne Plaza and Scandinavian Park Helsinki!

A Hidden Gem in Helsinki! We’ve tried several pastries at Tin Tin, both sweet and savory, and they’ve all been fresh, scrumptious, and beautifully made. The coffee is fantastic too! The staff are super friendly, and the Parisian-style music and ambiance make the whole experience extra charming. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a coffee break. Highly recommend! One of my favorite cafés in Helsinki! Tintin Tango charms with its friendly staff and cozy, peaceful atmosphere. If you want to avoid the crowds and lines, it’s best to go early. And if you miss the breakfast, you can always drop by later for a glass of wine. A versatile and relaxed spot for any time of the day.

An intriguing name which perhaps unites the owner’s disparate passions? There is Tin Tin memorabilia on the walls and a traditional tango was playing in the background while I was there. I had a superb flat white so was more than happy to come across this place.
Gamine — Google review
Great place for breakfast (and more) in Töölö area! Heard about this place from another local and can only reconfirm what he said, it's a bit of an institution at Töölö square since 1990s. Breakfast offering is great and menus are honest, you get easily full on a medium sized already. Bread was very fresh and warm when served, all other ingredients are good and taste fresh too. A big big plus is that when ordering menu it's served to the table. Overall friendly atmosphere and staff. Definitely worth to return to this place! I've given a 5 due to genuinity, but even considering interior is not tip top it's easily a 4.5 worth.

The restaurant is popular among locals, especially during warmer months when visitors can enjoy delicious food and beverages by the seaside. The hamburger was very good, I forgot to order well done so it was a bit red inside but I think it made it better, but if you really dont like it order well donde. The price is around 20 Euros so was similar to other prices in Helsinki, view is good in summer

JOHANNES S — Google review
Nice location, but the burger was super expensive. It came a bit cold and too moist. Basically no service at all. You pay €30.90 for a burger, fries, and soda, and they don’t even bring you a napkin. You can’t leave your food outside because seagulls and other birds will take it. They put only three ice cubes in the warm soda. Big failure.
Sami M — Google review
Lovely seaside restaurant to dine at. Plenty of seating outside, and they provide throw blankets if you want to be more cozy. Food was 10/10 and the portion size was filling. If you’re not too hungry even 1 order would be enough to share. The DJ was also really good. A definite must visit on a sunny day.

Such a lovely, cute lil coffee place. Friendly atmosphere and great coffee! I could sit and enjoy a cappuccino, write in my journal, and the best of all - cuddle an extremely sweet café pup!

Signora Delizia is a charming Italian Coffee cafe across the street from Tove Jansson (creator of Moomins) Park in Helsinki. The owner, Vincenzo, is animated and talkative - just what you wish for on a coffee break in the city. Currently, this late June of 2019, there is a noisy construction project during the weekdays outside the cafe. The noise makes it impossible to enjoy his outside table. There is a neighborhood historical pleasure to find in a poster to your right on the wall as you sit inside in one of the comfortable window chairs. The poster is of an active coffee and refreshment concession across the street in Tove Jansson park. If you walk over to the park, that concession stand seems abandoned. Graffiti on the outside walls, in bad structural shape that empty concession stand is a blight on Tove Jansson Park.

Tasty desserts and wonderful filter coffee with free refills. I have had some coffee in Helsinki which was twice the price of this one and not as good. So definitely recommend stopping by. Plenty of open plan seating. So easy to visit with children.

What a disappointment! Breakfast eggs Benedict is one small bread with two eggs and two slices of bacon with dressing. This delicacy is 14 EUR! This doesn't include juice, coffee or anything else. Total robbery!

Restaurant Story in Helsinki's Old Market delivers a fantastic take on traditional salmon soup—rich, hearty, and served in generous portions with free bread refills. The staff are warm and welcoming, and the setting is both cozy and lively. Great food, friendly service, and a lovely atmosphere—what’s not to like?

I came specifically for the salmon soup, and it turned out to be one of the best I had during my visit to Helsinki. It was fresh, simple, and had a light creamy texture that I really enjoyed. The place is located inside the market, which made it quite warm with limited airflow — not the most comfortable setting during summer. However, the tables were clean, and the service was friendly and efficient.

We went for lunch as a recommendation from our guide, we took the salamon soup and the grilled reindeer. First of all the portion size was big. The salamon soup was very delicious as well as the grilled reindeer will definitely go back again

Excellent customer service, super tasty salmon soup. I warmly recommend this place. Especially because nobody came to complain when I sat down with all our shopping bags while my husband dealt with the order. The dill oil is a nice addition to the salmon soup! Very democratic prices also.

Creamy salmon soup was good. Not sure if the best 😅 as it was my first one during the trip. Cost 16,9€

Fish soup is quite watery, tables needs cleaning more often, coffee is quite bad (sweet even without sugar). Not sure it's good value for money compared to, say, Restaurant Fisken på Disken in Kamppi. The place is a bit over-hyped.

Kahvila Rakastan, a charming plant-based cafe located near the Finnish National Museum and Oodi library in Helsinki, is a must-visit for those looking to try traditional Finnish Karelian pies. The family-run, female-operated shop offers various vegan versions of these classic pies with different toppings. In addition to the delicious pies, the cafe also serves tasty soups, homemade bread, bowls, and an assortment of pastries.
They have nostalgic childhood desserts and bread for Finnish vegans(as I heard). Homemade looking and they taste good too. It's feels so good to be outside enjoying a cup of drink and just the sky above.

This place is pure magic. Everything I tried was absolutely delicious — rich, comforting, and beautifully balanced. Whether it’s the creamy oat latte, one of their warm daily dishes, or a fresh pastry, every bite feels thoughtfully made. The atmosphere? Calm and uplifting. You walk in and instantly feel the cozy charm. The staff radiate warmth — the kind of genuine friendliness that feels like sunshine in human form. You’re not just served here, you’re welcomed. It’s rare to find a spot where the vibe, food, and service all align so perfectly. Kahvila Rakastan is exactly that — a little sanctuary of joy, flavour, and kindness. If you’re in Helsinki, don’t miss it.

The best cafe there is in Helsinki! All vegan and super delicious. Best in the summertime with the terrace. Only minus is that it is oftentimes very crowded (understandably!) but in my opinion always worth the wait :) There could be even more foldable chairs in the backyard?

Very relaxing and cosy place to eat, we had lunch in the backyard and it was so nice to sit there! The lunch buffet & iced latte were very tasty and so was our pastry to go. The staff was also nice!

Great little vegan spot for lunch. We had the lunch buffet which was a soup, roast potatoes and salad. It was delicious. And it's dog friendly! The staff were friendly and helpful, and they have a lovely green space out the back to dine in.

We came to the idyllic Rakastan Café to taste their famous cinnamon buns—and they were delicious! The café itself is located in a charming 19th-century annex of Aurora Karamzin’s Hakasalmi Villa, set in a stunning environment (the villa has been a museum since 1912). It’s a true oasis in the midst of the city’s hustle and bustle. Even the busy Mannerheimintie next door seems to fade into the background as you step through the café’s door. Rakastan is a small, family-run business and quite popular, so be prepared for a cozy—sometimes slightly cramped—atmosphere. During peak hours, tables might not get cleared immediately. Still, it’s always a lovely place to visit.

Such a sweet little café tucked into the park — warm, homey, and super welcoming. Great coffee, dreamy vibes, and a lovely queer-friendly space where you instantly feel at ease. Everything tastes homemade and thoughtful. A perfect spot to pause, chat, or just breathe.

Top vegan eatery in Helsinki with traditional dishes! Was located in a trailer-like outbuilding but beautiful inside. Lunch salad options were unlimited with purchase of some kerelan pies /piirakka, enjoyed the goulash and lived the vegan caviar. Got one great pastries to go as well. Layers is a popular bakery managed by Daniel Tobal Autiokari, known for his exceptional pastries. The small shop is famous for its light and buttery croissants and pain au chocolat, which often lead to long weekend queues due to their popularity. While some customers feel the pastries could be more buttery or larger in size, others rave about the deliciousness of the desserts and praise the shop's take on classic korvapuusti.
Small bakery that sells delicious stuff!! Warm and friendly service. Every thing is to-go. They sell great coffee too. Purchased almost everything on the menu 😂

Very small cafe/shop with few seating outside cafe, so mainly it’s for takeaway. Went there 10:30am to queue up and 85% of baked goods was already sold out by then. They bake very small patches of pastries daily, so if not live around the corner or come first thing when they open, don’t expect to get anything - for that I feel very disappointing!

Honestly, you had me at tiramisu croissant! My god they are good. Sadly I bought every variety which means there are no surprises for tomorrow!
Zinkel D — Google review
My friend bought a croissant and pain au chocolat from here and they were absolutely to die for. However, when I visited today (Saturday, Oct 18) at 14:11, the staff shut the door and gestured that they were closed — even though both the sign on the door and the online listing state they’re open until 15:00 on Saturdays. Perhaps they had sold out for the day, which is understandable, but it would’ve been courteous to step outside and explain or apologize to waiting customers. They could have still been serving coffee, especially since there were other customers sitting inside at the time. I rarely say this, but I was genuinely shocked to experience service this dismissive and nonchalant.

Such a divine little bakery in Helsinki! Was so good we came back two days in a row (the perfect birthday breakfast)! The servers were so so friendly and lovely. The pastries were amazing - we had the apple pie, orange pain au choc (amazing candied orange which was so Christmassy), cheesecake croissant (the perfect balance of sweet jam and cream cheese filling) gianduja croissant, and cinnamon bun (so soft and doughy). Out of this world. Ps the coffee was also delicious. Thank you Layers!!
Sophie A — Google review
You can see the quality, crafting, care, experience, passion and the layers! In every single pastry they make. Definitely the best croissants I’ve ever had!

Genuinely impressed. The jam croissant may be the best croissant I ever had. Amazing attention to detail.

Tiny bakery with very good croissants. They are making small batches, so sometimes special croissants are out of sale before lunch time. Tried their plain croissant and baklava one-both were fresh, tasty and perfectly baked. Sadly, bakery offers only coffee, so as a tea lover I had no options. Also a bit of complain about packaging: they sometimes put special croissants into paper bags, so creamy top will be smudged all over the bag insides:(

The bakery is known for its decorative and rich cupcakes, including classic Red Velvet as well as unique flavors like Rocky Road and Salted Toffee Pretzel.
Summer special: avocado bread with strawberry <3 I have never eaten so good avocado bread. Try it until you can! Citron cupcake had also great structure and taste. I highly recommend this cafe for a cup of coffee. Slightly slow service so go there when you have time. Friendly and positive staff.

A cozy café in the heart of Punavuori. The staff speaks English fluently and is very professional and knowledgeable. They are always helpful and nice too! The ambience at the café is relaxing, with soft music and mismatched chairs and tables. It feels like an antic store, but with coffee and really good cupcakes. There are vegan and gluten-free options for cupcakes and food, and lactose-free and vegan options for the drinks. Prices are pretty much the same as everywhere in the city, but bonus points for the atmosphere in my opinion.

Just a wonderful spot to stop off, whether for a sit down and a drink, or for some lunch. The drink menu is like nothing I've seen before (a rare cup of English breakfast was appreciated). Restaurant Flät no 14 is a warm and bohemian eatery that offers creative small plates and mains, along with coffee, wine, and beer. It was opened by Karin and her friend Johanna in June 2019 after Karin pursued her dream of opening a breakfast cafe inspired by her travels in Australia. The breakfast selection is highly recommended, especially the porridge and Karelian pies. The restaurant offers a lovely calm atmosphere to enjoy good food or even get some work done.
Great brunch spot in Kallio neighbourhood! We got 3-plates brunch set for each and it was more than enough. Very cozy atmosphere and super tasty food. Plenty of vegan/vegetarian options. Coffee is phenomenal ☕️ and their freshly squeezed juice was out of this world 😋 No reservations accepted for brunch, unless you have a large group. The wait wasn’t too long before we got seated. We will definitely be back!

I’ve been meaning to check this place for a while and finally did it. Really nice coffee place with good atmosphere and tasty food. We got 3 small dishes for lunch for 15€, not that filling but good food nonetheless. Came here to work remotely for a while since I saw this place listed online as a good spot to do so, and I really enjoyed the time here.

This restaurant is truly exceptional in every way. One of the standout features is their option for smaller portions, which allows you to sample a variety of dishes in a single visit perfect for trying 2-3 different items without feeling overwhelmed. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting for both breakfast and dinner, and both experiences have been thoroughly satisfying. Their menu offers a delightful fusion of Finnish cuisine, blending traditional flavors with modern twists, creating a unique and memorable dining experience. The quality of the food, combined with the thoughtful portion sizes, ensures you’ll want to come back and explore even more of what they have to offer.

They have a really nice summer terrace in Karhupuisto and a smaller terrace in front of the restaurant. Enjoyed drinks and decided to get some risotto too. It was 16e and the portion was TINY which we did not quite expect for the price. Take that into account when you decide to eat, otherwise the place is really nice.

The MOST GAS food experience I've had here in Helsinki! Pleasantly surprised for sure! I went here on a whim because the concept sounded Kühl; several small plates that allow you to customize your dining experience! My favorites were the Pancake, the Goat Cheese with Beets and the Shrimp with Cucumber! The imagination on these dishes in itself is a treat! I'll definitely be telling my Peeps back home about it! I hope to be back here when I visit again! Thanks a bunch! -Nico

We had to wait half an hour for half of an avocado that didn’t even come with toast. I had never seen such a slow service. Even the coffees took 20 minutes to come and there was no order, with tables who came after us being served before. Vibes were otherwise cool, though.
Andie — Google review
Food quality is great. However we waited nearly half an hour to get our order, which I found strange, for the menu consists of a dozen fixed components. Also, a bit on the pricey side for so slow delivery. Also the "local cheese" component it's two tiny little slices of cheese. It's great to sit outside, however the terrace is not covered with a roof, that could be an issue if it starts to rain.

Relove Freda is a popular second-hand store in Helsinki with two beautiful shops in Toolo, Stockmann and Punavuori. It offers a unique concept where individuals can rent out a clothing rack to sell their clothes, with the shop taking a commission and rental fee. The Freda location features a lovely cafe with wine and a bustling flea market side.
What a great introduction to Helsinki's second hand shopping culture! I found several nice pieces to add to my wardrobe, including a lovely silk and lace cami.

I bought a hoodie (not cheap, 35 euros) that, after just 20 minutes of wear, broke at the seams on both sides of the hood and left a layer of dust-like material on my head. When I carefully tried to take it off, the fabric itself tore at the upper back. When I returned to the store the next day (with the receipt in hand), after some deliberation I was told they could do nothing more than offer me a free coffee. I understand the no-refund/no-return policy due to second-hand clothing, but if you sell clothes at such high prices as all Relove stores do, I expect either proper quality control (which evidently they don’t provide) or flexible and accommodating customer service (which I certainly didn’t receive) in cases like this. I’m sure you can find some good pieces here, but after this debacle I will certainly boycott the entire chain and encourage others to do the same.
Toni N — Google review
This is a great breakfast/lunch place that shares the space with a used-clothing shop. Great concept!! The dishes we ordered were flavorful and fresh. The acai bowl was delicious. Coffee was spot on. Great place to people watch. Friendly staff.

Went there and ate the following: bread with some hummus, latté with oatmilk and a cinnamon bun and paid €20 in total. Food was delicious just like in the other relove locations. Will go there again. A bit more pricey than average but quality is also a slightly better than other places I have the impression.

Fabulous cozy coffee room and high-fashion secondhand clothing shop, just off one of Helskinki's closed-to-traffic walking/shopping areas. Wonderful gluten-free baked goods! I recommend the poppyseed bread if available. Delicious espresso macchiato, among a selection of beverages including wine and cocktails. Also free wifi available in a candle-lit, living room-style cafe area. Perfect antidote to a grey, wet Helsinki day!
K.G. D — Google review
**Note that reviews here mix opinions about both the café and the second-hand shop, which can be confusing.** The second-hand shop was actually quite lovely about five years ago. It’s a bit sad to see how things have changed – nowadays, a good 80% of the items seem to come from fast fashion brands like Zara, H&M, BikBok (and even Primark!). Also, many pieces are polyester, look quite worn, and are very expensive. It feels like they might have had to let quality slide a bit just to keep going, which is understandable but still disappointing. These shops hold such a special spot in the hearts of Helsinkians. I hope they'll find a way to adapt their business plan to recapture that old magic and reconnect with the "collective values" that made us all love them in the first place.

It's a pretty cafe with a nice atmosphere. The coffee was tasty. But the applepie was so sweet. The texture and the apples were so nice, but sweetness covered them. visited at 09:50 on tuesday morning. i ordered the breakfast combo (“COMBO OF THE WEEK”). i’m new to helsinki (traveling), so i’m gonna write detailed process here for others like me. you order at the front, the smoothie bowl and a shot of ginger juice(?) are served on the black and white marimekko-esque plate right away. the combo comes with an avocado toast, and i added a poached egg. it’s served to you to your seat. the coffee, cutlery, and napkins are self service at the station on the left side. the smoothie bowl was good. it was mostly banana from what i could tell, but the homepage it listed last. (the smoothie is “HILBERT THE HIPPIE” and it’s “Sea buckthorn, mango, banana”) the avocado toast was crunchy on the outer edge and soft/mushy on the center. i guess probably avocado was sitting on the toast for a while. i assume it’s to make the making process fast and efficient in the kitchen, but it might have had better texture if it was prepared when it’s ordered. that’s the reason i knocked one star off. the egg was poached just right to my taste. the atmosphere was pleasant, the seats were only sparsely occupied because the lunch hour(11-14) had not started yet. i could take a peek at a lovely and majestic dalmatian, because people can bring their pets inside.

Came for a brunch date with my grandma and we were pleased with the experience! Food was really good, and I have to highlight the way the dishes and plates were all beautifully color coded. The staff were friendly and the Fredrikintori terrace was as lovely as ever. The tables were quite dirty when we came, but they did tidy them up soon enough. The only little minus I have comes from the coffee, since I had to explain what a cortado was, and they did not have a professional espresso machine. However, would definitely visit again!

I was a bit disappointed with my visit. The salad had large, uneven pieces of iceberg lettuce, including parts of the core, which were tough and unpleasant to eat. There were also quite a few brown spots. On top of that, it lacked seasoning and dressing, so the overall taste was quite bland. On the positive side, the service was friendly and attentive, which I appreciated.

Moomin! What's not to love about this place? They do really great coffee and the cake selection is good. It is a little expensive than your typical café in Helsinki, but all the small added extras make it worth it. I ordered a cappuccino and blueberry cake that was nice. Cake was light and fluffy and was not too sweet. This is a family friendly place. You can also purchase all kinds of Moomin merchandise such as kitchen crockery, cuddly toys and ground coffee. This lovely little cafe adjacent to a toy store has everything you could possibly want: a play area for children, high chairs, good snacks and drinks, and friendly, patient staff. Look around, you might find a Moomin sitting next to you. :-) Seating is very comfortable and the play area is as well. My children did not want to leave. #letsguide #familyfriendly #localguides #helsinki

The moment I entered the cafe, I was amazed by the decoration! The atmosphere was lively and there are many children and tourists visiting this place. The staff was very friendly and the blueberry pie was delicious!! Would visit again and don’t forget to take a look at their shop!!

Cute place with reasonable prices. Staff was really kind and helpful. The best thing was free coffee refills, shop with moomin things inside, amazing mugs and plates and all arangement was super sweet and well-designed. The credit card reader was broken and it was only one disadvantage.

Good coffee, friendly atmosphere, kiddie corner made for toddlers to play in while parents enjoy a break. Situated close to a shop selling suitcases and cold weather apparel.

Obvious must-stop for Moomin fans. Went just after New Years and only had one staff working so it was a bit busy. Fun place to have a look and coffee was alright, but probably just a 30-45 minute stop is enough.

Coffee store
Cafelito is a charming Spanish-owned coffee shop located between Vallila and Kallio, offering a delightful breakfast menu with toasts, specialty coffees, and friendly service. The breakfast deal includes two toasts of your choice, latte, fruit juice, and lactose-free yogurt with nuts, fruit, and honey at great value. The coffee here is described as dark and full-flavored compared to the usual bitter Helsinki coffee.
Lovely and cozy place for breakfast and weekend brunch. We ordered set No.2 for both, one with Lola (avocado) tomato bread and the other Pablo (hummus and egg). The portion is big enough and so we literally got one piece for each flavor. I liked the Pablo more, though I ordered Lola. Pablo is more tasty probably due to the seasoning. However, we did not like the bread itself. The place was so popular, we arrived between 9-10 on Saturday and had to seat at the side bar table, but at least we got seats. We enjoyed the vibe, will come back for pastry next time.

Excellent customer service with their Cafelito’s unique atmoshphere and coffee 🤌🏻☕️ I was recommended this place by one of the fellow pedestrian, and it was 💯 a hit 💥

Absolutely lovely cafe. Flat white is top notch, the Santiago cake (almond cake) was delicious, with a side of vanilla sauce. The place is bright, with exactly the right amount of space and cozyness. Everything feels simple, yet incredibly thought through. It just works! I'd love to come back for brunch.

Absolutely loved this place! Cozy atmosphere, calm and relaxing, perfect for a coffee break or light lunch. The pastries and small dishes are delicious, and the staff is incredibly kind. Great location too. Highly recommend!

A lovely place for chilling or getting some work done. Their matcha needs a bit more matcha but in general pretty decent. The basque cheesecake tho, *chef’s kiss*!

The tortilla de patata made for a very nice little lunch! Also the iced tea was legit. Surprisingly good.

I visit this place every now and then and it’s one of my favorites in Kallio. The place looks nice and service is good. They have very good basque cheesecake and almond cake.
Jasmina R — Google review
Despite the somewhat minimalist decor, my time here was enjoyable if not quite cozy. The Americano was excellent and the Basque cheese cake absolutely delicious. It's a pity they don't seem to offer any savory food options outside of the set lunch though.
