Tivoli Gardens is a 19th-century amusement park located in the heart of Copenhagen. It features an antique roller coaster and a live entertainment program, making it a magical and traditional attraction. The park is the second-oldest operating amusement park globally and one of the most popular seasonal theme parks, attracting nearly five million visitors annually.
Absolutely great place! All decoration changes every season and it’s a perfect place to have photoshoots here. I have a subscription and often bring my tourists here for photo shoots. The place is full of locations like from a fairy tale. But I only post my last visit here at night (I didn't try my best this time 😁) You can check more of my work on Instagram ninelzakaryan_photo

An excellent park although off to a skeptical start when I saw the first ride we went on had a member of staff on to "pull the brake". Lots of rides to suit all with a fair number of "tummy turners". Queues were small and the facilities such as food and toilets were at a good standard. We used the Copenhagen card to get in but you need to pay extra for the rides. Was quite cold when we were there so dress appropriately. The teenage kids enjoyed it so that's a thumbs up !
Alex J — Google review
Had such a fun day at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen! The autumn vibes were magical, and the park looks absolutely stunning as the lights come on in the evening. I highly recommend going late afternoon so you can enjoy it in daylight and then see it sparkle at night. The food was delicious, the rides and attractions were super fun, and the whole day just felt so cozy and special. A must-visit for anyone in Copenhagen! 🎡🍂✨

Went here for the halloween themed gardens, it was amazing. So much to do for all ages. Rides, show for the little children, pumpkin carving, amusements, stalls to buy gifts and plenty of food and drink stalls. You can go in and out if you get a stamp and there's plenty of shops nearby. Was a great day out.
Jade M — Google review
We visited just before Halloween and had a great time. The decorations and while atmosphere just felt special. I initially thought that the entry and ride ticket was a little expensive but it certainly wasn’t, only major queues were for food outlets at meal time which is understandable. Download the app and you can also have free copies of the ride photos, something completely unheard of in our native UK. Highly recommend and a highlight of our family trip to Copenhagen
Chris F — Google review
Beautiful theme park in the city center of Copenhagen, Denmark. My Danish friends told me that It was the inspiration of Disney’s World. Lovely theme park with various rides and attractions, bars, ice cream, candy shops and restaurants as well as souvenirs and artisanal shops. I came here in October so the park was lavishly decorated with Halloween theme 🎃🎃🎃. It was packed even on weekdays. I tried Demon, the 🎢 rollercoaster (the queue was 45 minutes for a 1 - minute fun ride! 😇) and we had fun! We also had wonderful dinner in Mikkeler Færgerkroen restaurant. Fun attractions include the old wooden rollercoaster, fatamorgana, carousel, boat ride, Ferris wheels 🎡, swinging carousel, bumper car and more. The tickets are available online as well as through Tivoli app. You can get the passes as well, starting for the standard pass for 12 months to silver, gold and wild card. Get more details on their app and website. Single ride tickets are also available, from 50 - 60 DKK. Watch out for the health and safety limitations for the rides. Toilets are available here and there. Some parts are flat and ♿️✅ disability friendly, but some parts have stairs.
Indah S — Google review
Great experience. Was really nice walking and enjoying all the Halloween themed corners. There are some nice food stalls and also some nice cafe and restaurants so that makes it a really nice full experience with the haunted houses and all the rest of the amenities. Great overall.
Inc C — Google review
Great day out, rides were good. Went on a few couple times. Wait times were around 30mins which wasn't too bad for most rides. Food was priced reasonably inside the park and you also had the food hall next door so had a few to choose from. Will definitely visit again when visiting Copenhagen.

Nyhavn is a must-visit destination in Copenhagen, offering a picturesque representation of the city's maritime legacy. The area boasts iconic colorful buildings, lively bars, and cozy cafes along the bustling waterfront. It appeals to photography enthusiasts, food lovers, and those looking for an authentic Danish experience. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls and romantic walks while taking in the vibrant atmosphere.
Looks exactly like all the photos, lovely area either beautiful danish houses, boutiques and souvenirs. There are nice canal side restaurants, boat rest aired, public benches and live buskers all around so you can do a lot without spending much. Careful not to get run over by bikes!
Felicia M — Google review
Nice to walk through and appreciate the tourists althoguh we went on a stormy day to avoid tourists and make the photos a bit more moody. This place can get very busy, and food/ bars are just there for the tourists who step off the boats .... I suggest venturing down the alleys as there are plenty of hidden gems in this city.
Gregory H — Google review
A very pleasant and lively area. A boat tour is recommended. You can see many places in an hour. I think there are two boat tours. One is very cheap. You should ask about the difference and choose accordingly.
Cem Ö — Google review
Visited Nyhavn over the weekend and absolutely loved it! 🌈 The colorful houses along the canal look stunning, especially on a sunny day ☀️. Tip: for the best photo, click from the opposite side of the canal 📸. Lined with cozy cafes and restaurants, it’s a perfect place to relax, enjoy a meal, and soak in the cheerful Copenhagen vibes 🇩🇰.
YG T — Google review
It's a must see and very photographic landmark area. There are numerous restaurants and small shops. You catch a canal tour here as well. Don't forget to visit the shop where Hans Christian Anderson once lived.

Amazing view. Enjoy the walk and photo taking. Stop by for a drink as well but the river side.

If you want to see only one place in Copenhagen, it should be definitely Nyhavn. Fabulous and lovely! Full of nice and cozy cafe and restaurant around it.

Nyhavn is an absolute must-see in Copenhagen—a lively, colorful waterfront that perfectly captures the city’s charm. I loved strolling along the canal, lined with vibrant, historic buildings, bustling cafes, and restaurants. It’s a fantastic spot to sit, enjoy a drink, and soak in the scenery.

Rosenborg Castle is a well-preserved Dutch Renaissance palace located in the King's Garden, featuring stunning architecture and a rich history. Built in the early 17th century as a summer residence for Danish monarchs, it boasts red brick facades, copper-green roofs, and intricate ornamentation. Today, it serves as a museum showcasing lavish rooms, tapestries, and artwork. The basement houses the Danish Crown Jewels and royal regalia such as crowns and scepters.
Worth to visit. You need to have a half of day to visit them leisurely. Otherwise you have to run and you will miss those. In the castle there are two parts. Furniture, cloths , drawings are in 3/4 floors. Treasury is in the ground. Don’t miss to visit treasure. There is sanitary facilities too They have a garden as well. You can spend the time there. You can buy tickets over the counter. And there are lockers to keep your bags in. You can have the key. It’s free. They dont allow you to go inside with large bags ( even handbag)
Kasunsala G — Google review
Loved it. Spent about 3 hours here. Very well curated. Displays of the Castle itself and not a ' general history museum'. Authentic, original displays. You will be amazed and stunned to see the Crown and Jewellery display section. Look out of the windows on higher floor at the adjacent Gardens. Entry to the Gardens is free.
Raman G — Google review
Rosenborg Castle is a historic site in central Copenhagen, best known for housing the Danish Crown Jewels and Royal Regalia. The rooms are well-preserved and give a good overview of Denmark’s royal history. The Treasury in the basement is a highlight. The surrounding King’s Garden is open to the public and great for a walk. Worth a visit if you're interested in history or culture. Buy tickets in advance to avoid lines.
Martina P — Google review
Rosenborg Castle is a wonderful place to visit: full of history, charm, and beautifully preserved treasures. The interiors and royal collections are fascinating. However, the exhibition lighting could be improved, as some areas were quite dim and it was difficult to see certain displays clearly. Overall, still a great experience and definitely worth visiting!
Giorgos G — Google review
Well truely a marvel of the history. Absolutely loved the aura of the castle and its surroundings. There is big park and lake in front of the castle. It is easy to get to the place, thanks to the well connected public transport systems. The architecture of the castle is something that is worth mentioning. I would recommend to read and learn about the history of the palace before visiting it so that you can just relive the past and get a feel of the same. If you are planning to go in a weekend, be prepared to wait for sometime as there would be rush.
Krishna C — Google review
Beautiful site and an easy walk from the waterfront. You can also peek at the King’s Gardens out back — immaculately kept, of course. The day pass is worth it for convenient access to the castle. Free lockers are a nice touch, and the guards with bayonets add a bit of royal drama. Inside, the halls are filled with art and artifacts — the grand hall with the thrones and lion statues is a standout. Don’t miss the Crown Jewels in the walk-in vault downstairs, complete with a step ladder for the perfect view. A truly regal visit, well worth the stop.
G L — Google review
We really enjoyed visiting Rosenborg Castle . it’s such a beautiful place, full of history and character. The rooms are packed with interesting details, from royal portraits to ornate furniture and glittering treasures. The crown jewels are especially impressive and definitely worth seeing. The castle grounds and gardens are lovely too.

The Little Mermaid is a famous bronze sculpture in Copenhagen, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's beloved fairy tale. Unveiled in 1913, it sits gracefully on a rock along the waterfront and is a must-see for literature and fairy tale enthusiasts. The site offers serene views of the harbor and appeals to those seeking a contemplative experience. To avoid crowds, visit early in the morning or late afternoon.
The Little Mermaid may be small, but she's full of emotion and history. Sculpted in 1913, she tells the story of love, sacrifice, and longing from Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale. Don't just stop for a photo - walk around the area! You'll find the beautiful Gefion Fountain, St. Alban's Church, and cozy cafés nearby. In spring, especially from mid-April to early May, cherry trees bloom along the paths, making it one of the most romantic walks in Copenhagen. A timeless symbol of beauty and reflection.
Tetiana B — Google review
Visiting the Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen was a memorable experience. The sculpture itself is smaller than I expected, but it’s beautifully placed by the water and has a certain quiet charm. The surroundings are peaceful, with lovely views across the harbor, and it’s a nice spot for a walk. Even though it can get a bit crowded with tourists, it still feels special to see such an iconic landmark in person. A must-visit if you’re exploring Copenhagen!
Kalina M — Google review
The Little Mermaid – A Symbol of Copenhagen We visited the famous Little Mermaid statue, and while the statue itself is quite small, it’s definitely worth the visit. Nestled along the waterfront, the surroundings are absolutely beautiful, offering peaceful views and a scenic walk leading up to the site. The walk itself is part of the experience – calm, relaxing, and filled with lovely views of the harbour. Do keep in mind that it’s a popular attraction, so it can get quite crowded. If you're hoping for a quieter moment, consider visiting early in the morning or later in the evening. A charming and iconic stop on any Copenhagen itinerary.
Mark H — Google review
Copenhagen in the Spring is a nice, relatively quiet port with mostly the usual features of European / Scandinavian ports. The only unique attraction is The Little Mermaid statue, small but with it's own history of abductions, kidnapping and beheadings. If you're lucky your guide will give you the local story of the Little Mermaid which is more of a Danish Tragedy, so beware of little ears who are enchanted by the Disney version. It isn't magical but it's interesting lore. Here are a few other shots of the city as there are ample and better pictures of the Mermaid than I could get under the lighting conditions.
M H — Google review
It's a little mermaid. Not much more than that. Be sure to visit the nearby fortress and church and windmill and fountain. Don't just come for the little mermaid. By the way... Great place for a run or walk around the fort and along the waterfront.
Michael L — Google review
Small statue, big crowds. The place is super busy as there are organized tours to see the statue by land and water. I took public transport and walked along the nearby park and enjoyed spending time at the place as it's serene to just sit down at the benches and enjoy the views, further away from the crowds. It's a nice experience if you don't go there just for the statue. But the statue is nice to see in person.
Natasha G — Google review
A bit operated. Did not go very specifically to see this. When on another tour, the driver stopped here for a couple of minutes. The city so many more statues and sculptures which are much much more attractive. Example, when in the area, check out a sculpture near the National Museum/ opp Tivoli Garden entrance.
Raman G — Google review
The Little Mermaid statue was definitely smaller than I expected, but I still found it charming. Sitting quietly on a rock by the water, she has a delicate, almost wistful look that really ties back to Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale. I also enjoyed the setting by the harbor and made it part of a nice walk that included Churchillparken and the nearby monuments.

Christiansborg Palace is a must-see in Copenhagen, Denmark. It's home to the Danish Parliament, the Prime Minister's office, and the Supreme Court of Denmark. The palace also houses government and judicial offices. Visitors can explore its lavish reception rooms like the Great Hall, Tower Hall, and Oval Throne Room. Don't miss the royal kitchen and the remains of an older castle beneath the main building. The palace has a rich history spanning over 800 years and covers a large area.
Such a beautiful building on the inside and out. There aren't loads and loads of rooms to see but each one is unique and has its own charm. The tapestries in the great hall were particularly interesting and super colourful. This palace definitely felt worth it!
Coralie P — Google review
Christiansborg Slot was one of the highlights of my Copenhagen visit. Walking through the grand halls and admiring the royal reception rooms and tapestries felt like stepping back into history. The ruins beneath the palace were fascinating, giving a glimpse of the city’s medieval past. I also loved visiting the tower—its panoramic views of Copenhagen were simply stunning. The mix of politics, royalty, and history in one place makes it a truly memorable stop.
Vidya H — Google review
I only had time to visit the royal reception rooms and the experience was already beyond my expectation. The Queen's Tapestries at the Knights' Hall were jaw-dropping. 1,100 years of Danish history were woven into 17 colourful tapestries. They were modern and educative. If I had more time, I would spend all day looking at them and try to learn the history/stories in each of them.
Rachel M — Google review
Christiansborg Palace is a historic palace in Copenhagen, Denmark, that now houses the country's three branches of government: the Parliament, the Supreme Court, and the Ministry of State. Once a royal residence, it is open to the public and features attractions like the Royal Reception Rooms, the Royal Stables, and a viewing tower with panoramic city views. Visitors can also explore the underground ruins of earlier castles that stood on the site.
Randy B — Google review
The grand, grandeur and wonderful castle in the heart of Copenhagen. What a splendid way the castle is decorated and preserved and still active. Such display of wealth is dazzling. They have visuals and videos of the historical aspect of the castle. Interesting to go through them and better for kids to enhance their knowledge.
Tas A — Google review
Christiansborg Palace is a unique and fascinating destination in Copenhagen, blending royal splendor with the seat of modern democracy. It’s one of the only buildings in the world that houses all three branches of a country’s government — the Danish Parliament, Supreme Court, and Prime Minister’s Office — all within a former royal palace. That alone makes it worth visiting. Architecturally, Christiansborg is an imposing and elegant structure built in Neo-Baroque style with touches of Neo-Classicism, especially visible in its formal reception halls. The current palace is actually the third iteration — previous versions were destroyed by fire in 1794 and again in 1884. What you see today is the result of a rebuild completed in the early 20th century, blending old grandeur with modern sensibilities. The tall central tower is the highest in Copenhagen and offers free public access with panoramic city views. Inside, the Royal Reception Rooms are a highlight, especially the Great Hall with its striking modern tapestries depicting Danish history, designed by artist Bjørn Nørgaard. The Queen still uses these rooms for official state functions, adding a sense of living history to the experience. You can also explore the Royal Stables, the Royal Kitchen, and the underground ruins, where remnants of the medieval Bishop’s Castle and earlier palaces have been preserved. In short, Christiansborg may not have the romantic fairy-tale look of some other castles, but it offers something deeper — a powerful connection between Denmark’s royal past and its modern democracy. A rewarding and educational visit, especially for those interested in history, architecture, and politics.
Dmitry Z — Google review
We went up on the tower and it has a nice 360 view around the city of Copenhagen. We were lucky as there was not that crowded when we wanted to go in, so waited around 20 minutes. When we went down, there was huge line of people standing there which was a surprise. It is fine up there but definitely not worth waiting in the line for 1 hour or more.

The National Museum of Denmark, housed in an 18th-century mansion, is a captivating journey through the country's history and culture. From prehistoric artifacts to modern exhibits, the museum offers an extensive collection that appeals to history enthusiasts, families, and anyone curious about Denmark's cultural tapestry. Visitors can explore Viking relics, medieval treasures, and ethnographic displays. The Children's Museum provides interactive entertainment for kids with a range of activities including exploring vintage toys and dressing up like historical figures.
I was only intending to pop in and have a quick look but ended up spending most of the day there, looking at all of the various rooms and displays. There is a lot to see and is a great place to see aspects of Danish history as well as other cultures. I am generally not a museum fan, but this was an eye-opener! There is a fantastic cafe too for the midday break.
Victor ( — Google review
The museum takes you on a fascinating journey through different historical periods, guiding you from one age to another in a thoughtfully organized layout. From the outside, it appears rather modest in size, but once inside, it reveals a surprisingly vast and intricate space. I actually found it easy to lose my sense of direction there—not unpleasantly so, but in that way where every turn leads to another hidden room or unexpected display. The collection itself is impressive. Many ornaments, tools, fabrics, and even preserved human remains are remarkably well-maintained, offering a vivid glimpse into the past. The diversity of materials on display—ranging from everyday items to ceremonial artifacts—makes the experience rich and engaging for history enthusiasts. However, the space does show signs of wear. Some of the doors are noticeably old, creaky, and could use maintenance. The walls and ceilings in certain areas have peeling paint or water stains, which somewhat take away from the immersive atmosphere. A bit of renovation would go a long way in enhancing the visitor experience and doing justice to the fascinating collection housed within. The museum shop, while convenient, felt a bit underwhelming. The items were fairly standard and lacked the kind of creativity or uniqueness one might expect from such a distinctive museum. There's definitely room for more inspired and memorable souvenirs.

AMAZING place! We were blown away by the huge collection of ancient artifacts. This museum has an extensive collection of pieces that are in fantastic condition, or really well restored. We spent hours and did not even get to the Danish history section. There is an interesting multidimensional Viking exhibit that was "interesting". Worth the visit.

A great place to learn about history of Denmark. I was lucky to be there during the Viking Sorceress exhibition. It was super cool! The staff was friendly and helpful. A lot of runes and norse god souvenirs were available at the museum store, too.

Good big museum with multiple levels and buildings! Vast varieties of many contents and really interesting things to see! There is a little children playground in the middle of the complex but only for children and with an extra fees. (I saw a Viking set up with a guys dress in the Viking style but we can't go in as an adult 😞) The Doll House section was super impressive with the number and size of the room and a day and night alternative as well! Many cool facts and items to see and read through! You can easily spend a couple hours to just even walk through all the rooms! Definitely a very interesting place to visit in Copenhagen!

The National Museum of Denmark is an essential stop for anyone with an interest in Viking heritage, Norse mythology, or the broader story of Denmark’s past. The Viking exhibition is especially impressive — featuring original swords, rune stones, burial artifacts, and mythological pieces that truly evoke the spirit of the Norse world. The displays are thoughtful and immersive, making the history feel very much alive. The museum also offers an excellent overview of Denmark’s transformation from early tribal societies into a European maritime kingdom. The royal and military exhibits provide fascinating insights into diplomacy, warfare, and national identity through the centuries. One of the highlights for me was how seamlessly the museum combines archaeological discoveries with historical storytelling. It’s well-curated, deeply informative, and emotionally resonant — especially for those passionate about Nordic culture. A quick note for summer visitors: some galleries can feel extremely warm due to limited airflow in certain areas. It’s a good idea to bring water and wear lighter clothing if you’re visiting on a hot day. That said, the richness of the exhibits more than makes up for it. Highly recommended for history lovers and curious minds alike!

This museum provides an incredibly comprehensive overview of the history of Denmark. The scale of the exhibits is very extensive so it may be suggest to plan your visit carefully depending on your areas of interest. The upper floors of the museum have a great selection of exhibits about Danish history from the Early-Modern period of the 1600s to the modern day. There is also a fascinating permanent exhibition about the history and legacy of Denmark’s colonial empire and makes a significant effort to assess the positive and negative impacts of this colonial legacy across Africa, China, Greenland, Iceland, India, and the Danish West Indies (now the US Virgin Islands) using modern interviews and historical perspectives and first person accounts to enhance the exhibits on display.

Brilliant museum. We came at opening time on a Saturday and it wasnt too busy. It's for lots to see and I found the ancient danish stuff fascinating. The real highlight thouh is the interactive viking exhibition. There is a really good shop too!

Amalienborg Palace, an exquisite 18th-century rococo complex in Copenhagen, serves as the winter residence for the Danish monarchy. This remarkable ensemble consists of four distinct palaces—Brockdorfske, Levetzaus, Moltkes, and Schackske—each showcasing stunning architecture and rich history. Surrounding a grand plaza, these palatial structures were adopted by the royal family in 1794 after a devastating fire at Christiansborg Castle.
If you’re in Copenhagen, Amalienborg is a must-visit. This beautiful palace showcases the rich history, details, and artifacts of the Danish royal family. One of the highlights is the changing of the guard, which takes place daily at 12 pm and is a wonderful experience to witness. There’s no entry fee. Walk around the palace square, since the surroundings are equally charming.

I had the pleasure of visiting this magnificent palace, and it truly felt like stepping back in time into a world of royalty. The interiors are grand and beautifully preserved, with multiple sections showcasing how the royals once lived. From the opulent living quarters and lavish dining halls to the intricately designed courtyards, every corner tells a story of elegance and power. What stood out to me most was the attention to detail—exquisite furniture, ornate chandeliers, and priceless artifacts that reflect a royal lifestyle at its peak. The guided displays made it easy to understand the history and appreciate the traditions behind each room. Walking through the palace, I could almost imagine the grandeur of royal gatherings and ceremonies that once filled these halls. Overall, it’s a place where history and beauty come together perfectly. If you want to experience the charm of a royal lifestyle, this palace is a must-visit.

We came here with the intention of observing the Changing of the Guards. It starts at 12, so try to be there at 11:30 for a better stand spot. Because lots and lots of people come to see this. Bring hat and sunglasses during summer season. If you are interested in these come otherwise enjoy the castle. You have to buy tickets for the castle and check timing.

Visited Amalienborg Palace on a rainy Sunday 🇩🇰. It’s famous for the Changing of the Guard ceremony that starts sharp at 12 noon and lasts about 30 minutes ⏰. Even with the rain, the square was fully packed! If you want a front-row view, reach by 11:45. For us, it was an okay experience — interesting to watch just once.

Truely amazing.. i had visited Amelienborg palace with my family in the month of May.. just was spell bound by the beauty and architectural marvel of the same. The whole palace was worth watching again and again from each and every angle. As we had visited on a weekend there was really a big crowd which really added to the enrichment of the ambience.. We had planned to reach there to watch the famous change of guard event. It was so awesome.. even though it is something that happens on a daily basis but the accuracy and precision of the event is something to adore for.. From accessibility perspective we have the well established punlic transportation of Copenhagen.. A must watch if you are visiting Copenhagen..

Go at 11:30am to get a good view of the changing of the guard. They push everyone back behind the black lines of the quad closest to the brown doors/left of the entry pillars if you want a good view, but the guards do a march around the while Palace eventually. We also saw the marching band through the town which was cool!
Crystal T — Google review
how to enjoy the guards change parade at it's max 1. be at the square at 1130 - at this the police will start to clear the square 2. tourists are allowed to stand only in certain areas 3. take the position marked at the screenshot - this one is the best, since you will see the change and the guards will marsh along you enjoy :-)

The Round Tower, also known as Rundetarn, is a remarkable 17th-century structure in Copenhagen. It was originally built as an astronomical observatory and features a unique spiral ramp instead of traditional stairs. Visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the city from this architectural gem while experiencing its rich history. The gradual ascent makes it accessible to all, appealing to history buffs, architecture enthusiasts, and anyone seeking breathtaking vistas of Copenhagen.
Highly recommended, especially just before sunset on a beautiful day. The view from the rooftop is absolutely breathtaking. We were lucky enough to witness a blood moon during our visit to the Round Tower, which made the experience even more special. The ticket prices were reasonable, and the panoramic skyline view of Copenhagen is truly stunning.
Arzu A — Google review
Nice view from the top, you can also take a peek into the observatory up there. That's is also a shop with beautifully designed items (notebooks, post cards, posters, etc) that's adjacent to an art school exhibition. Plus you can take a look into the church's attic and learn about historic stuff

Totally worth the visit! It has a very cool architecture spiraling all the way to the top, ending with a rooftop deck, amazing views and also an observatory. It has some art installations inside too.

The round tower is a must see if you visit Copenhagen! It is Europe’s oldest observatory building and it offers breathtaking views of the city. There is an art gallery on one of the floors which has some interesting pieces
Aynsley J — Google review
Great attraction right in the city center. The ticket costs around €8. The climb is easy, with very few steps, and the views from the top are beautiful — you can see the entire city from above. There’s also a small museum and a small art exhibition inside. I didn’t visit many attractions in Copenhagen, but I’m glad I visited this one.

Very interesting architecture. The ramp without strairs is amazing and beautiful. On the top, the view to the city center is amazing. Like it
JL K — Google review
This was kind of cool. You walk up this winding stone path to get to the top, and then you have a great view of the city. It is an observatory attached to the university of copenhan (i think). There is also a beautiful church to see.
Natalie N — Google review
So yes it's Copenhagen's Main tourist attraction, but it still offers plenty to justify the crowds and admission fee. The view is great, the ramp absorbs crowds, there are plenty of toilets, and some unexpected artefacts along the wall to the top. Even in a sunny Saturday with three cruise ships in town, the only area with some congestion was the top of the ramp. An automated traffic light system controls the flow of visitors through the narrow staircase which connects the ramp to the observation terrace.

Escape the hustle and bustle of Copenhagen by visiting the tranquil and romantic Copenhagen Botanical Garden. This oasis in the heart of the city is home to an impressive collection of over 13,000 plant species from around the world. The garden features specimens from the tropics, Alps, and even some hardy plants from above the Arctic Circle. It's a perfect retreat for nature lovers seeking a peaceful environment away from crowded tourist spots.
Wonderful place so visit, mostly on a sunny day. Bring a towel and enjoy laying on the grass with birds jumping around. Beautiful experience also walking around the garden and see the various kind of plants and flowers, really recommended!
Marco P — Google review
We had such a great time exploring this botanical garden. What I love most is that the entrance is free if you don’t plan to go inside the glasshouse, which makes it very accessible for everyone to enjoy. The plant biodiversity is truly impressive — from peaceful water lilies and lush greenery to carefully designed rock gardens and shaded woodland paths. Every corner feels thoughtfully maintained, and you can really sense the effort to create an environment where both plants and wildlife thrive. The pond areas are full of life, with turtles, koi fish, and birds adding so much character to the place. I even spotted a magpie and a ladybird up close, which made the visit feel even more connected to nature. It’s not just a place to see plants, but a living, breathing ecosystem where you can slow down and appreciate biodiversity in action. If you’re tired of walking in the city and need a break, this is a great place to recharge. The walking paths are varied — some open and sunny, others shaded and tranquil. It feels like you’re moving through different little worlds within one garden. I especially enjoyed the mix of open views with the sky reflected in the water and more intimate trails lined with rocks and trees. Overall, this is a beautiful spot to spend a few hours, whether you’re here for a calm walk, photography, or just to reconnect with nature. Highly recommended if you’re in the area!

Just a beautifully scenic place right in the heart of Copenhagen and open to everyone with no entry fee. Lush greenery, roses blooming everywhere, and statues scattered throughout create a peaceful and charming atmosphere. People come here to relax, sunbathe, walk, or simply enjoy the surroundings. I visited in September, and the weather was perfect. You could easily spend the whole day there until it gets dark.

Copenhagen's Botanical Garden (Botanisk Have) is an absolute gem for anyone seeking a delightful and pretty stroll in the heart of the city. It's a truly restorative oasis, perfect for a leisurely walk amidst a stunning array of plant life. You can wander along charming pathways, discovering different themed sections like the rock gardens or the serene lake with its picturesque stone bridge.
Zack E — Google review
A lovely botanical garden, filled with exotic plants and fun walks. The palm house was being renovated when we went, which was pretty cool to look at, they had a big mishmash of scaffolding and lights trying to keep the plants alive (not pictured, sorry). The signage to find your way around the construction wasn't fantastic, getting to glasshouse 2 wasn't as straightforward as it should have been. The rest of the glass houses are excellent, with a good level of information on what's going on there, much better than that silly Glyptotek. I would have liked more context, there were a few information panels that foreshadowed interesting facts, but didn't delve deeper. It felt like a place catering both extremes, people who want to look at pretty plants, and actually botanists, but it'd be nice if it had a bit more information throughout the entire garden for the people in between.. Shout out to the rock garden, of course, it's absolutely massive and got some cracking plants. Also, we went in October, with the season turning, the park section was begining to die back, still lots of nice things to see though. I'd definitely want to visit in summer. Long story short: lovely plants, give me more plant facts.

My visit to the Botanical Garden was one of the highlights of my 4 days in Copenhagen. The two (long ago man-made)mountains of hundres of species were amazing...I came back twice to walk through this beautiful assimilation/integration of plants.

The Botanical Garden in Copenhagen felt like a hidden pocket of peace right in the middle of the city. As soon as you step inside, you notice how calm and green it is, even though you’re still in the center. The paths wind beautifully through the garden, and you keep discovering new plants and flowers along the way. I really enjoyed just sitting on a bench for a while and taking it all in. It can get a bit busier on weekends, but the atmosphere stays relaxed. If you’re looking for a little escape from the city buzz, this is the perfect spot.

Absolutely lovely! One of the best Alpine gardens I’ve ever seen. There are over 1000 species of rhododendrons and the variety of flowers/plants is just incredible. If I want to compare, It’s much more impressive than the Sydney Royal Botanical Gardens. Incredible design and maintenance. Kudos!

The Church of Our Saviour is a stunning 17th-century Baroque place of worship located in Copenhagen. Its impressive Dutch Baroque architecture features a golden spire and a singing bell tower, adorned with vibrant red and yellow tiles. The church offers one of the best viewpoints in the city, with outstanding panoramic views from the top of its spire. Visitors can embark on an exciting excursion by climbing narrow winding stairs to reach the summit, where they can enjoy breathtaking vistas across Copenhagen.
Brilliant experience walking up the tower. Be aware that some of the steps are very steep and with limited handrails. The view from the top however is spectacular, offering a panorama of the whole of Copenhagen. Tickets must be booked in advance and you will get a time to go up the tower. The inside of the church is also beautiful with a spectacular pipe organ.
Alex M — Google review
The Church of Our Saviour is one of Copenhagen’s most famous landmarks and a must-visit if you enjoy history, architecture, and incredible city views. The church itself is beautiful, with a striking baroque interior, but the real highlight is climbing the tower. The spiral staircase on the outside of the spire takes you up high above the city, and the views from the top are absolutely stunning, stretching across Copenhagen and even out to Sweden on a clear day. The climb is steep and narrow in places, and the final stretch on the outside can feel a bit dizzying if you’re not great with heights, but the reward at the top is well worth the effort. It’s best to go on a clear day to really appreciate the panoramic view. The tower can get busy, so going early or outside peak hours makes the experience more enjoyable. Overall, the Church of Our Saviour is an unforgettable stop in Copenhagen. Whether for its history, its unique architecture, or the breathtaking views from the tower, it’s an experience that leaves a lasting impression.

Absolutely breathtaking experience! The Church of Our Saviour is not only a beautiful piece of architecture, but also offers one of the very best views of Copenhagen. The spiral staircase up the tower is a little challenging, but that only makes reaching the top more rewarding. Standing outside on the winding staircase with the city right beneath your feet feels magical. You can see all of Copenhagen – from the canals and colorful houses to the modern skyline. Totally worth the climb, and a must-visit spot if you want a unique perspective of the city!
Kalina M — Google review
Beautiful place! Climbing to the top and amdiring views of the city is one of the nicest experiences in Copenhagen. Important note - there is not only a lot of stairs to the top, but in some moments it's narrow and steep stairs. So it's not so easy to get there, but really worth to visit.
Patrycja Z — Google review
Church of Our Saviour – Copenhagen A stunning baroque church with one of the best panoramic views in Copenhagen. The highlight is the climb to the top via a unique external spiral staircase—fun and adventurous, but not for the faint-hearted. With over 400 steps, it’s a bit of a workout, and the narrow, winding paths can be challenging for anyone with vertigo. Entry costs €8, and it's well worth it for the view alone.
Mark H — Google review
Climbing up requires tickets. The views are awesome but not suitable for those w fear of heights. The stairs get narrow as you go higher. Good experience. Good views. Lots of climbing.
Simon A — Google review
So, the most visited church in Copenhagen 😀. Yes, it is old and yet most of us came here to walk the stairs to the top 😀. 400 step. The first 300+ is inside , wooden and pretty steep. Then , you go outside and continue around the tower, climbing the external stairs. Its actually easier outside than inside until you get closer to the top where stairs become very narrow and finally closed for further trip. Great views ! Great adrenaline ! Book your slot to climb online in advance during holiday season. Aha, it will be closed when it rains so do not go if you see showers outside your windows.
Jacek M — Google review
I visited only the tower... What a view - just make sure you don't suffer from vertigo and can move agile... The view is spectacular but it's really narrow up there. You might wanna go for sunset. We didn't have wind when I was there but I assume once there is... It's not very hygge...

Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is a captivating fine art museum that showcases a diverse collection of ancient Mediterranean sculptures, 19th-century French and Danish artworks. The museum offers an immersive experience for art enthusiasts, featuring artifacts from ancient civilizations such as Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Visitors can also explore the impressive winter garden within the museum's premises, providing a picturesque setting for artistic inspiration.
Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is an absolute treasure for anyone who appreciates timeless art and refined curation. From the moment you walk through its grand halls, you’re transported into a world of elegance, history, and cultural richness. The museum is beautifully maintained, and every space — from the central winter garden to the majestic marble galleries — feels thoughtfully preserved and respectfully presented. I especially loved the vast collection of classical art — Greek, Roman, and Egyptian antiquities that are truly world-class. The 19th-century Danish and French collections, with works by artists like Rodin, Degas, and Gauguin, are equally impressive and thoughtfully displayed. One of the biggest highlights is the rooftop terrace, which offers stunning panoramic views over Copenhagen. It’s peaceful, not overly crowded, and provides a perfect pause between exhibits. I truly appreciated that this museum didn’t overload the experience with disjointed, ultra-modern bizarre conceptual art that many other museums now seem obsessed with. Here, the focus remains where it should: on quality, craftsmanship, and the enduring power of the classical tradition. The Nordic and Germanic nations have a rich cultural legacy, and the Glyptotek honors that brilliantly. The staff was kind, professional, and welcoming — clearly proud of the institution they help run. Whether you’re an art lover, a history enthusiast, or simply someone who values beauty over trends, this place is a must-visit in Copenhagen.
Dmitry Z — Google review
Beautiful museum! I absolutely love when museums are filled with statues and this one was filled with them! The building is stunning as well, with sort of an indoor garden by the entrance and big rooms filled with artwork. There’s also a rooftop which was a surprise and has a stunning view of Copenhagen. The reason why I’m not giving them more stars is because of how rude the staff were in the mummy section. There were two young boys (staff apparently) who kept whispering and talking to each other without caring there were people in the room. It completely ruined the vibe and I felt really uncomfortable. I understand it gets boring down there and you need to pass the time, but could you NOT talk when people are there? The amusement park is next door so you will probably hear some screams thought out the museum which was also creepy at times but inevitable. Overall I recommend it. I spent around 2/3 hours there and think I managed to see most of it. You can purchase the ticket online with the QR by the entrance and it’s cheaper. Video of the cute plushies! So expensive tho.

A must-visit museum in Copenhagen! The Glyptotek is absolutely stunning, a perfect blend of art, history, and architecture. The collection ranges from ancient sculptures to impressionist masterpieces, beautifully displayed in serene galleries. The central winter garden is breathtaking, and the overall atmosphere feels peaceful and inspiring. I could easily spend hours here. Truly one of Copenhagen’s cultural gems!
Giorgos G — Google review
Glyptoteket is, hands down, the most beautiful museum in Copenhagen. The atmosphere inside is incredible – there’s really nothing else like it, especially when you walk through the Winter Garden. It’s such a peaceful and stunning space. The exhibitions are great too, especially if you’re into ancient Greek and Roman culture. That’s definitely my favourite part of the museum. I also really enjoy the Egyptian section, and it’s super cool to go downstairs and see the mummies. They do have other exhibitions with paintings, but that’s not really my thing, so I usually skip those. For me, it’s all about walking around and admiring the statues
Anne L — Google review
I think this might be one of my favorite museums I have visited in my life so far. The statues were incredibly moving and beautiful, and the interior of the museum was breathtaking, every corner is designed with such attention to detail. The exhibitions are also very interesting, and I would definitely recommend a visit to anyone coming to Copenhagen. The museum also has a restaurant and bar where you can enjoy a drink or a snack, as well as a shop with unique items if you’d like to take something home. Plan at least 1 to 2 hours for your visit. Unfortunately, we only had 45 minutes since we arrived close to closing time, but it was still worth it!
Arzu A — Google review
This is one of my favorite museums in Denmark! The oasis next to the café is such a calming and aesthetically pleasing spot. The café itself isn’t anything special, but it’s worth sitting there just for the view. The exhibitions and statues are also very impressive and easy to explore. P.S.

Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is one of Denmark’s most iconic art museums, founded by the Carlsberg brewery’s visionary creator. The museum houses thousands of rare and precious works — from Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome to 19th-century European masterpieces by renowned artists like Rodin, Degas, and Gauguin. A unique highlight is the Winter Garden, a stunning indoor oasis filled with lush greenery and natural light — the perfect place to pause and soak in the timeless atmosphere between the galleries. Good to know: Admission is free on the last Wednesday of each month, so don’t miss the chance to explore this world-class collection at no cost.

Kastellet is a well-preserved 17th-century star-shaped fortress in northern Europe. It hosts various events and concerts and is a must-see attraction in Copenhagen. The area also features other notable sites such as the iconic Little Mermaid Statue, Kings Garden, Botanical Garden, Freetown Christiania, Superkilen Park, Frederiksberg Park, and Assistens Kirkegard.
We visited the exterior grounds of this historic fort. It appears to still be in operation on an administrative level. The park-like property is absolutely gorgeous and is meticulously maintained. It was a such a please to stroll around taking in the sites on a recent visit to Copenhagen.

Combine your visit to the Little Mermaid with this Military Fort Visited on Thursday, 31st July 2025, after being dropped off to see the Little Mermaid Statue, I took the opportunity to visit this army barracks. Still an active army site, so the access was limited, but what you could see was wonderful and provided the opportunity to walk the moat mounds that surround the fort. Cycling isn't allowed, but it appears the site is not supervised.

I visited Kastellet in August and it quickly became one of my favorite places in Copenhagen. The fortress is beautifully preserved, with its colorful red and yellow buildings and the iconic Danish flag creating a picture-perfect setting. Walking along the star-shaped ramparts gave me great views of the city and the harbor, and I loved the calm, peaceful atmosphere despite being so close to the center. It’s the kind of place where you can take your time, enjoy the history, and relax in the green surroundings. A wonderful spot that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Copenhagen!

The Citadel is far more than just a tourist attraction and it is fascinating to watch tourists, the Danish military and members of the public coexist in the sprawling complex. Young cadets man both the entrances to manage car traffic but you can otherwise see joggers, curious tourists and other pedestrians walk freely in and out enjoying the pleasant sights and 360 degree views. It is well worth a visit and spending around an hour to check out the inner fortification as well as the battlements, as it is effectively a living museum.

Kastellet in Copenhagen is one of those places that feels like a peaceful escape right in the middle of the city. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, but it turned out to be one of the most pleasant and memorable walks of my trip. The star-shaped fortress is beautifully preserved and surrounded by green spaces, canals, and well-maintained paths. Walking along the ramparts offers great views of both the city and the sea. It’s a great spot if you enjoy nature, history, or just a quiet stroll away from the busier tourist spots. The area is not only scenic but also full of charm — with red barracks, a picturesque windmill, and the lovely St. Alban’s Church nearby. Everything feels calm, clean, and safe. It’s hard to believe that a military site could feel this peaceful! I especially appreciated how locals use it as a jogging or walking route — it makes the place feel very alive and integrated into the community. It’s also free to enter, which is a bonus. If you're visiting Copenhagen and want a break from the usual attractions, Kastellet is definitely worth your time. It’s a perfect mix of history, beauty, and serenity.

Stroget is a famous pedestrian boulevard in Copenhagen, known for its wide range of shops, cafes, and even a Guinness museum. In the 1960s, due to increasing traffic and crowded narrow streets in central Copenhagen, the City Council decided to create a car-free zone from Town Hall Square to Kongens Nytorv, establishing Stroget as the world's oldest and longest pedestrian street system at almost 3.2 km.

Reffen - Skøjteøen is a vibrant street food market located on Refshaleoen island in Copenhagen. Spanning over 6000m2, it offers an array of global cuisines from more than 50 start-ups, including Korean, Mexican, Italian, and Danish fare. The venue boasts a picturesque waterfront setting with ample seating for visitors to savor their meals while enjoying panoramic views of the city.
What an amazing place! Visited Copenhagen for the first time with family and had so much fun here. Took the water bus/passenger ferry to the Reffen area. That itself was a fun way of getting there. So many wonderful food and drink choices. We got Thai food, African food, Canadian food and a variety of drinks. People were all so friendly, service was fast and food came out quickly. Everything was flavorful, delicious and priced well relative to quality and size. There was plenty of outdoor and covered seating areas. It poured down raining when we went so being an umbrella if rain is in the forecast. We would definitely come back! Would love to try more places.

A place with a very positive vibe. Many street food stands from all over the world, plus drinks, teas, coffees, sweets etc. Freshly made food upon order requires a few minutes to wait for, in most popular places. Many places to sit so although it was Saturday we found a table (beer garden) without any trouble. All set in post industrial zone.
Jacek M — Google review
Absolutely loved this place. The wide variety of street food options and the nice atmosphere make this place really pleasant. There is also a central area where to chill with sand and a bonfire, perfect for summer nights.
Gio C — Google review
Great variety and cozy outdoor vibes – just wish for more fire pits! Reffen is a great spot if you're looking to try different cuisines in one place – there's a huge variety of food from all over the world. The outdoor area has a really nice atmosphere, especially with the wood fire pits that keep you warm on colder days. We really liked that touch – it made the place feel super cozy. The only downside was that it was quite busy, and all the seats near the fire were taken, so we couldn’t find a warm spot to sit. I wish there were more fire pits or heated areas, especially during peak times. Otherwise, it was a great experience, and I’d definitely come back!
Jcy H — Google review
Got lucky with the weather and enjoyed a great day at Reffen sinking a few beers and eating some good food by the firepits. There's plenty of options for food and if the weather isn't playing ball there's a massive indoor area too. The staff are constantly buzzing around topping up the wood in the firepits and there's loads of comfy chairs dotted around. It's a cool place

Always tried something different. This time I tried the baos, they were really good. The Argentinian places are my to go. The view is breathtaking specially during the sunset. A special vibe and a nice plan during the weekdays or weekends.
Natalia T — Google review
Reffen Street food is a good walking from Copenhagen but it was definitely worth it! Most people probably go by bike but the walk wasn't that bad. The place is along the waterfront and feel like a little colorful town of street frood! It's probably very nice as well in the evening with all the lights.
Ghislain — Google review
This is a must visit while you’re in Copenhagen. There’s tons of different options for delicious street food and a beer garden. It all sits on the water with amazing views of the bay. There’s also a very large indoor space to sit, eat, and drink in case the weather isn’t that great. I had the Argentinean steak sandwich, a local brewery hazy IPA, and duck fat waffle fries smothered with cheese. It was all incredible and I highly recommend all of the above.

Copenhagen Zoo, located in Frederiksberg, Denmark, is a popular attraction for visitors of all ages. The zoo offers a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and is easily accessible year-round. With its airy Norman Foster-designed elephant house and Arctic habitat for polar bears, the zoo provides an engaging experience for animal enthusiasts. Visitors can observe majestic lions confidently roaming their enclosures while peacocks strut around with an air of superiority.
This zoo is so beautiful! It has a variety of animals. The cages are nice and clean. The zoo has stunning views as it is on a hill. We really liked all the greenery. It is just beautiful to walk around. We also really enjoyed the playground. Very cute! We decided to purchase a Copenhagen card and the zoo entrance was included. We will definitely be back here to explore more.

Very well planned area. It is quite good for explaining animals to children. Most of the animal areas are in good condition such as lion, kangaroos and panda. But the polar bear living area should be improved. We used Copenhagen Card for entry, and entered afternoon. So it is not crowded and fun to walk around.

Awesome zoo in huge area and beautiful landscape. This place has all the animals you can imagine of with engaging activities like goat patting, feeding the lions, kids makeup, great playgrounds and exhibitions. The restrooms are clean and all areas are very well maintained. There’re plenty of food kiosks or restaurants along the way and they all offer good foods. Highly recommended to spend at least half a day here to cover many sections like Savannah, rainforest and the poles. Make sure you wear comfy shoes.

Me and my children loved this zoo, it was clean, had so many animals and areas to visit we spent 4 hours here. Really easy to get the bus to and from. Lots of food and drink stalls if you wanted to eat there. Everywhere is so clean and tidy and there are loads of staff around if you want to ask where something is or about an animal etc..would definitely recommend this if you visit Copenhagen. Our visit was covered by the Discovery card that I purchased before we arrived.

A good day out with loads to look at. Spread across two sites the zoo had something for everyone. The animals appeared well looked after and you could view them inside or outside in many cases. Plenty of cafes which were reasonably priced. Used our Copenhagen card to get in so nothing to pay. Wrap up warm if going in colder climates.

Entry used by Copenhagen card. Best zoo experience so far, nice open enclosures to get close to lions, polar bears and pandas. Many fish seemed to be missing from the aquarium and signs/ notices to get around the park could of been more clear

The presentation was beautiful and perfect for photos. • Hav – I tried their sashimi platter and oysters. Super fresh and tasty!

This was the standout attraction for us in our 4 day stay in Copenhagen, and we came here every morning for breakfast, stocked up on cheese and salads for lunch, dropped in for tea, coffee and pastries, and twice for dinner. There’s, a small, overpriced fruit and vegetable market between the two buildings, but the real stars here are the specialist stalls inside selling pastries, snacks, cheese and meats, fresh seafood, tea and coffee and just about anything else you can think of. It’s not the biggest food hall in Europe, so it’s easy to navigate, but every stall is a gem. A must visit, often, on any trip to Copenhagen.

TorvehallerneKBH is an amazing food market i the heart of Copenhagen! I visited looking for fresh stenbiderrogn (lumpfish roe), which is only available during the spring season. The vendors were friendly, knowledgeable, and gave great tips on how to enjoy the roe. I bought fresh roe and made a traditional Danish dish at home: small pancakes with a dollop of sour cream, finely chopped onion, and fresh roe on top. It was absolutely delicious - delicate, creamy, and festive. Perfect spot for anyone looking for high-quality seafood and traditional Danish delicacies. Highly recommend!

"The Little Mermaid" is a renowned statue in Copenhagen, Denmark, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's famous tale. The sculpture depicts the mermaid sacrificing everything to be with the prince she loves on land. Crafted by Edvard Eriksen and donated by Carl Jacobsen, it stands as one of the city's most popular attractions. This iconic landmark draws numerous visitors to admire its representation of love and sacrifice from the beloved fairy tale.
First me and my friends walked into the shop wanting to buy some candy then the shop owner told us we should leave if we weren’t buying anything. After that we get a little angry. So we look around the shop wondering what to buy and 1 minute after walking into the shop she tells us to leave. Worst service I’ve ever experienced

Frederik's Church, also known as The Marble Church or Marmorkirken, is a renowned Lutheran church situated in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. This 18th-century church boasts impressive rococo architecture and is famous for its grand dome, one of the largest in Scandinavia at 31 meters in diameter. The exterior is clad with Norwegian and Danish marble, giving it a distinctive appearance that sets it apart from other European churches.
It’s a grand and magnificent church, especially the dome, which is both tall and spacious. Despite the crowds, it still manages to maintain a peaceful and serene atmosphere.
Prayuth P — Google review
Also known as the Marble Church, is one of Copenhagen’s most beautiful landmarks and absolutely worth a visit. Its massive dome dominates the skyline and is one of the largest in Europe, making it a striking sight both up close and from a distance. The interior is equally impressive, with stunning architecture, serene atmosphere, and a sense of grandeur that feels both welcoming and awe-inspiring. Visitors can also climb up to the dome on certain days, which is a highlight for those who enjoy city views. From the top, you get a unique perspective over Copenhagen, including Amalienborg Palace and the harbor area. Entry to the church itself is free, which makes it an easy stop to fit into any city itinerary. It’s good to check ahead for opening times and whether dome access is available during your visit, as it’s not open every day. The church is active, so be mindful if a service is in session. Overall, Frederik’s Church is a must-see for anyone interested in architecture, history, or simply enjoying one of the most iconic and peaceful spots in the city.

Just to the opposite of the Amalienborg castle, this church just matches up to it. The exterior of the mosque is so gigantic and massive looking that it still holds beauty and grandeur. Inside the church is very spacious and the dome makes it look even bigger. What an architectural marvel!

Frederik's Church (The Marble Church) is one of the most impressive landmarks in Copenhagen. Its massive dome and intricate interior design are truly mesmerizing. The peaceful atmosphere inside the church makes it a perfect place for reflection. A must-visit for anyone interested in history and architecture. The surrounding area is also great for photos!
Mikdat S — Google review
Frederik’s Church, also known as The Marble Church, is one of the most beautiful landmarks in Copenhagen. Its impressive dome, inspired by St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, is the largest church dome in Scandinavia. The foundation stone was laid in 1749 by King Frederik V, but due to financial difficulties the construction took more than 100 years and was finally completed in 1894. The church is free to enter, and the interior is just as breathtaking as the outside, with stunning marble details and a peaceful atmosphere. If you have the chance, climb up to the dome for an amazing panoramic view of the city. A must-visit if you are in Copenhagen!
Nataliia H — Google review
The Fredrik Church is simply beautiful,. The architecture is stunning, with its striking baroque design and intricate details that immediately catch your eye. The atmosphere inside is calm, peaceful, and almost timeless, making it a perfect place to pause and reflect. The church stands proudly in the heart of Karlskrona and adds so much character to the square around it.
Vidya H — Google review
Stunning building, but better to visit when it's less busy Visited on Thursday, 31st July 2025, having been dropped off at the Kongens Nytorv square, we walked to Frederik's Church. Outside, it's a stunning-looking building, and the dome is so disproportionately large that it reminded me of St Paul's or St Peter's domes in London and Rome, but without the building under them. There was a queue to enter, which wasn't organised and was quite dangerous, especially as it was also the only way out. There were more entrance doors available on the other side. Once inside, the dome is spectacular, and you can see why it's so popular for weddings, but a bit like a lot of famous churches, it doesn't feel very holy or peaceful.

A very nice museum where you can see the history of the design of simple at first glance pieces such as chairs of dining tables / tableware. I was really impressed with the hall where they show you how the dining tradition and design changed through the years. To be honest, I expected this museum to be bigger and more educational, but it was still nice 🙂

Interesting collection, the pattern exhibition for sure isn’t for everyone. The last piece of exhibition, the evolution of danish design is beautiful, interesting and the chairs are extremely comfortable. You can for sure inspire yourself to design your own space. The cafe and inner garden are free to enter and amazing too.

Nice collection of tapestries, furniture and all things design. I likes that they incorporated many hands on activities through both for adults and children. Entrance fee is a bit high in comparison to other museums and the size of the collection
Alan Y — Google review
From the very beginning, it feels like this design museum isn't well presenting things. Yes, objects are displayed and you can look at them (and read a small description) however I was expecting to have more explanation why this design has been chosen by the artist and from where it came from (what was the inspiration, what this specific item inspired other items) etc. This is my experience from other design museums - much more details regards the background of the object at which I'm looking at. An example of miss opportunity is a hall with chairs: really interesting but at the same time too many items, not much description and me, as a visitor, looking at them without any additional context. I have seen many chairs which I was interested however there wasn't much information about them. It ended up "just" as a hall with chairs. Too much but at the same time too little. Same thing with rooms with objects from 60-70s and 90s Rooms with 60-70s: why those objects have been there? Why that design looks in this way? What was the inspiration? You will not get it from this museum. I was expecting something much more interesting and inspiring but so far that design museum was the worst one which I ever seen.
Przemysław P — Google review
What a fantastic way to learn about the history of Danish Design and the birth of the movement called ‘mid century modern’. Close to a Metro station, and easy to get to, Designmuseum Denmark is a riot of sight and sound. No matter your interest - furniture, consumer goods, architecture, fabrics - and more - something for everyone here! The temporary exhibits are well executed also. Throughout the museum, there are places to listen to audio through your devices (bring ear buds, or headphones). The café offers well prepared, good tasting meals, so you do not have to leave hungry. The library is open for all, and has books on all aspects of the world of design - the gardens offer quiet contemplation, perhaps with a book purchased from the well-stocked gift store. A very satisfying time, no matter your interest!
Robert G — Google review
Well worth a visit. Is it obvious to say that the design museum is tastefully designed? Truly such a fun tour through Danish and world design aesthetic history. Interesting collections (don't miss the room with 1000s of Samurai sword decorations) and just the right amount of reading information to complement the pieces.

CopenHill is a unique attraction in Copenhagen, featuring an ultra-modern waste-to-energy plant with a twist. Designed by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, this architectural wonder has transformed the plant into a recreational hub. The rooftop boasts an artificial ski slope, making it possible to ski year-round. Additionally, visitors can enjoy activities such as hiking and climbing on the sloping rooftop.
Radical. Waist deep pow. Fer Sherman. It was such a great experience shredding “Trash Mountain.” I came with a local and other travelers with varying riding experience, and everyone had a good time. They had a rougher go at it, but I really, really enjoyed it. Some tips: Wear gloves or wrist protection, and cover your knees or wear protection. Between those you’ll be fine. The plastic can leave a good scrape (some unprepared friends had some nasty ones). Also, really commit to carving. Almost like you’re doing 180s back and forth. If you hold the edge too long, you’re likely to catch. I’ve shredded many mountains in Colorado, a few in Canada, and even out in the Austrian alps, so I do have some experience, but I think the best experience was my riding at home (East Coast USA) with all our icy hills 😂 Hope this helps!! I would definitely come again. 🤙 PS. The whole recycling bit, the climbing wall, the ability to hike it, the bar/restaurant— all very cool and nice 👍
Kyle M — Google review
We thought this was an amazing visit for those that enjoy architecture and sustainability and also functional buildings. CopenHill has it all. The city of Copenhagen has amazing planed spaces that integrates people into unexpected activities like ski in a very flat city. The “hill” is a trash processing plant and they have build amazingly a ski slope on top of that that allows skiers and mountain birders to ride down. Pretty amazing. We visited in August and summer time so no ski happening but a few people snowboarding on the plastic slippery carpet that allows you to use the slope during summer. If you are not into that you can still climb the 80+ meter of height to have a cold beer or refreshment in the roof top bar that offers good drinks. Cold beer with a view!
Sandy B — Google review
The building is a perfect blend of modern architeture achievements, sustainability technology advancements and panoramic view between the land and the sea. The ski track on the rooftop makes this place a great city attraction and looks surreal. I'd recommend to climb to the top on foot insted of elevator.

This destination is very unique. I visited it on a Sunday and entrance is free. Just go towards the lift area to go to the rooftop where you can have drinks overseeing the beautiful Copenhagen skyline. Go for a walk around the Copenhill rooftop.

I didn’t ski but the views are spectacular. Take the lift up and walk back down for the best experience. From the lift you can see the inside of the rubbish plant. The cafe is well worth a stop too. Great place.
Suzi M — Google review
A very unusual tourist spot - it's a recycling incinerator - but has a dry ski slope going down the side, a climbing wall and hiking trail. Lift to the top and amazing views. The café at the top was below average for this city.
C G — Google review
This is a great spot where you can take the city in for free, as in not pay to get up. We don’t ski the hill, only had a pint while there and took in the view and a little bit of education about Copenhagen’s efforts to reduce trash and emissions. Expert note - bike there! Way cheaper than cabs and the roads are great and not too congested. It’s also close to Reffen for a wide variety of food. But only open on weekends in the offseason.

The waterfront is lined with plenty of restaurants and cafés, perfect for enjoying a meal or drink while people-watching and soaking up the vibrant surroundings. On sunny days, the place comes alive with energy, and the reflections on the canal make it especially picturesque. If you’re planning to take a canal or river cruise, be mindful of the schedules. Delays of 15–30 minutes are not uncommon, so it’s best to check the timing in advance to avoid waiting around. Nyhavn is also very family-friendly, with open spaces for walking, calm corners for resting, and food options to suit all tastes. Whether you’re traveling as a couple, with friends, or with children, it’s a place everyone can enjoy. Overall, we had a fantastic experience here. Between the stunning views, the welcoming atmosphere, and the abundance of dining options, Nyhavn is a must-visit in Copenhagen. We’d definitely recommend adding it to your itinerary!!

At night, I enjoyed a beautiful night view along with dinner and many other travelers. In the early morning, I went for a run and quietly admired the serene Danish sunrise. It’s a place where you can truly experience the happiness that travel brings, one hundred percent.

Forget the Little Mermaid and Tivoli Gardens, this is the single best thing to see in Copenhagen. The colourful buildings, the boats, the water, it’s all here in an easily visited compact area. Even on a sunny Sunday in September with the crowds out, it never felt too busy, and there were plenty of spots for great pictures. There are heaps of places to eat and have a drink, though none are particularly special, and boats leave from here to tour the canals. The main area is mercifully bike free so you can walk around without getting smashed if you step the wrong way.

Beautiful landmark in Copenhagen, Denmark, famous for its lines of colorful buildings wonderfully reflected in the canal. It’s packed with visitors walking around the area to catch its wonderful ambience, enjoy the cafes and restaurants along the canal, have a cruise and also shops for souvenirs. There’s a walking path as well so it’s ♿️✅ accessible and disability friendly. Parking might be tricky in the surrounding

Nyhavn is the heart and soul of Copenhagen — colorful, lively, and full of charm. The row of brightly painted buildings along the canal looks like something out of a postcard, and the atmosphere is pure magic, whether you visit in the morning light or at sunset. It’s the perfect place for a stroll, a coffee by the water, or a meal at one of the many cozy restaurants and cafés. Street musicians, boats gliding by, and the cheerful energy of locals and travelers make it an experience that feels both vibrant and relaxing. Even if it’s one of the most popular spots in the city, Nyhavn never loses its authenticity or warmth. It’s a must-see landmark that captures the essence of Copenhagen — beautiful, historic, and effortlessly welcoming.

Very pretty, even on a rainy day. Love the many colors of the buildings and it has a cozy feel with the lights strung up at this time of year. Didn’t have a chance to eat at one of the many establishments but looks like a great experience dining along the canal. Quite beautiful!

The Japanese pagoda hosts pop-ups from renowned restaurants, making it an ideal spot for food enthusiasts. Families with young kids can enjoy Rasmus Klumps Pandekagehus, a whale-shaped cafe serving delicious pancakes.
I saw Wicked It was an amazing non - replica production with an amazing cast 💚 The theater in it self was pretty great! And the scenography was amazing.

A wonderful historic place, with amazing events. There is a garderobe and a bar to get snacks and drinks. The inside aquarium is a huge attraction for children and seniors equally. When buying the tickets it's recommended to avoid the top balcony because few building polls are positioned straight in the middle and minimise the view. It will be nice if Tivoli administration will add a remark about this on their website to be known when people buy their tickets online.
Laura M — Google review
I enjoy the venue more for the location and the excellent shows put in there, than for the facilities themselves. Positives: -The lobby is amazing, owing to the gigantic reef aquarium! You never get bored waiting before shows or during intermission. -Plentiful, clean bathrooms. Negatives: -Leg room on the balcony. Haven't experienced this problem so much when seated on the floor rows.

Beautifully decorated for Halloween. I see they put in a lot of effort for this. Really felt the Halloween vibes. However, it's too expensive. There is entrance fee close to 200dkk, and you need to buy the ride ticket to even ride. Sorry, for broke student like me, I don't have any cash reserves to spend here. But if you are wealthy, and have worked your life off to give your kids a good experience, sure.

An old-school music hall with a Lot of wood, decoration and atmosphere. The chairs are much more comfirtable as they look. Good lively sound. The bonus ist the gigantic aquarium at the entrance. Love it.

Fantastic place. It was great they chose it for the conference I attended however, unfortunately the games were all on hold while Tivoli garden was under huge preparations for the Halloween. There are many restaurants and coffee shops inside yet most were closed during the time I visited. The lecture halls were very clean, convenient seats and its size was quite appropriate. Bathrooms were clean and good except for insufficient tissues and trash cans. Tivli is in the city of Copenhagen and the whole place around it was full of shops, cafes and restaurents along with variety of available transportation services

Great place for entertainment. They show ballet (I saw The Snow Queen) classic music concerts and lots of other things. And the ticket to the show gives you entry into the beautiful park, which at night is usually decorated with beautiful lights.

Copenhagen City Hall, completed in 1905, is a prominent landmark in Denmark located at the heart of the city. Inspired by the town hall in Siena, Italy, it features a richly decorated facade and houses Jens Olsen's World Clock. The building is designed in the National Romantic style using locally sourced materials like brick, wood, and granite. Visitors can take guided tours to explore its ornate architecture and historical significance.
This was so amazing to be standing outside this historic Copenhagen City Hall last month, which was built back in 1905 🇩🇰 Imagine our pleasant surprise for my wife and I when we were able to visit inside on a special occasion, thanks to the World Federation of Chiropractic Congress in Copenhagen. The interior was so beautiful 😍 Felt so privileged knowing that the government still meets regularly here. Thank you for preserving this building so well over the last century! 🙏🏻

This is sooo cool building! All the time, we expected that we would meet students with togas and broomsticks. Total Harry Potter vibe. And you can enter so many spaces. That was one of the highlights of our trip.

One of my favorite places to photograph weddings in Copenhagen. The building has a real sense of grandeur, especially the main hall and the staircase — it gives a classic, elegant feel to the photos. In the warmer months, the garden is a great bonus. There’s a lovely fountain and quiet corners that work beautifully for portraits or just a quick breather for the couple. Also, if you’re interested in the history of the place, they offer free guided tours, which is a nice touch.

Copenhagen City Hall is a magnificent architectural landmark and a must-visit for anyone interested in history, design, or civic culture. Situated right in the heart of the city, this imposing building stands as a proud symbol of Danish municipal heritage and architectural grandeur. The City Hall is designed in the National Romantic style, heavily influenced by the Italian Renaissance but also rooted in Nordic tradition. Completed in 1905 by architect Martin Nyrop, the building features a distinctive red-brick façade, arched windows, golden accents, and a beautiful gilded statue of Absalon — the legendary founder of Copenhagen — above the main entrance. One of the most impressive features is the tower, soaring 105 meters high — one of the tallest in Copenhagen — and offering sweeping views of the city (when open to visitors). The intricate details of the interior are equally stunning, especially the grand atrium with its arched colonnades, marble floors, and Danish coats of arms. Visitors can also admire the famous Jens Olsen’s World Clock, a marvel of mechanical engineering and astronomical precision that draws enthusiasts from around the world. Even if you don't take a tour, the exterior alone is well worth admiring. The building fits beautifully into the historic cityscape, standing proudly on Rådhuspladsen (City Hall Square), where locals gather for public celebrations, events, and even political rallies.
Dmitry Z — Google review
It’s right in the city centre and free to check out. Pretty cool place—lots of people do wedding photo shoots there. The library was nice, but the real highlight for me was the clock on the ground floor. Don’t miss it. It was made by Jens Olsen and it’s not just a regular clock. It shows time, solar and lunar eclipses, positions of the planets, and has a perpetual calendar—kind of like the ancient Antikythera mechanism. The whole thing has over 15,000 parts. One gear turns every 10 seconds, and the slowest one only once every 25,753 years. And it only needs to be wound once a week. Crazy engineering.

We were on a long cruise thru the Baltic Sea and one of the stops was Copenhagen. It is a great city and very walkable. We self guided our all day tour using google maps and my research. We were able to see most of the historic sites as well as the tourist area by the water. We arrived in the vast open area in front of the City Hall. It is a beautiful and massive building. Built in 1905 I think.

The David Collection is a unique museum housed in an 18th-century building, offering a diverse range of art and artifacts. Visitors can explore Islamic art, European porcelain, and Danish paintings all under one roof. The museum's serene atmosphere provides the perfect setting to appreciate these cultural treasures.
Great collection situated closely to the Rosenberg Castle. Free entrance and a very decent collection. The Islamic art was lovely focused more on the golden Islamic age. The descriptions were mostly in Danish but there was an app to receive translation in English. A good idea if you’re nearby to experience this niche collection. There was also an exhibition on the Bedouin of Qatar that was rather interesting and informative. A pleasant visit indeed

A quite hidden gem in the Copenhagen arts scene. This museum shows a vast collection of islamic and oriental art pieces in a former private residence. Intimate, mysterious and free to visit.
Victor B — Google review
Visited the islamic arts part of the collection, biggest islamic art collection in europe they say and the amount of pieces were REALLY impressive but most pieces were stacked on top of another so i've had the pull the drawers to be able to see all those pieces manually with my hand to be able to see them so that was quite a challenge for me to see all the miniature, textile and calligraphy pieces and especially at those areas lightning was terrible aswell and i've had hard time to be able to see the details which were important for those pieces of art especially, it's quite sad how important pieces of history for the whole world is in the hands of those who don't really care about neither the history nor the art itself but most probably holding those pieces for their values or their status and lastly all the descriptions only the exception of some brief history ones were in danish which everyone interested in this exhibition probably know the danish language i guess? only some of the brief history parts were in english and they were written from a western perspective and didn't seem to clash with the pieces of art that is being showed there imo so overall it was good to see all these pieces of history but they were the only thing that was good about this museum. -small venue -bad lightning -danish descriptions -great pieces of art and history those pieces deserve a better place, couldn't really understand how they got here in the first place.
Barış M — Google review
The collection of Eastern art is extremely extensive and interesting, divided by country of origin. Going through the museum you feel like you are winding your way through streets and allies. There you can find everything from plates through jewelry to tiles and gobelins. The lower collection of European art isn’t something as spectacular as the eastern one, but the exhibitions shown for a time vere excellent too. Even tho the building itself was changed to an art gallery from a normal house, where David resided it’s totally accessible with elevators.

Det Kgl. Bibliotek, also known as The Royal Library or the Black Diamond, is a modern architectural marvel located in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was established in 1648 and is considered one of the largest libraries in the Nordic countries. The library's striking Black Diamond building features a contemporary design with a black marble facade that mirrors the sea.
This is much more than a library. This black granite building made of Zimbabwean granite is a huge center of books, conference center, art and photo exhibits, student study rooms, super cafe and gift shop. We took a one hour tour for K120 about $US 20 that included typical admission. We saw the new section, snuck a peek at Queens Hall for concerts and conferences. We viewed the area where the new library joined the old. The two old photographs showed the bridge and small rail car used to move books from the older building to the newer one. The exhibiit of occult practices included original writings, books, tools, medicines, and other items. The gift shop offers an array of books, logs, and library related goodies. The cafe offers an array of savory and sweet delights with several coffee and tea options. Enjoy a high top or accessible height table in the cafe area

The Copenhagen Library is a stunning example of how design can transform a public space. The architecture is sleek, modern, and filled with natural light that floods through large windows, creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Clean lines, open spaces, and thoughtful details make it not just functional but genuinely beautiful. It’s the kind of place where you immediately feel inspired — whether you’re there to read, study, or simply take in the design. The balance of modern aesthetics with cozy, practical spaces makes it one of the coolest libraries I’ve ever visited. A true highlight of the city for architecture and design lovers.

Lovely building with cool melding of old and new architecture. The space is air conditioned making it a nice break from any weather outside. Free to enter and wander around with dedicated spaces for those actually wanting to read or study.

The Royal Library Black Diamond is one of the most surreal and inspiring places I’ve ever been. The atmosphere is absolutely perfect for studying – calm, bright, and so unique that you actually feel like you could sit here and study forever. The architecture is stunning both inside and out, with an amazing mix of modern design and peaceful views of the water. There’s also a cozy café with great options if you need a break, and the toilets are spotless, which makes a huge difference for long study sessions. Everything here feels so well thought-out, from the layout to the light. Honestly, it’s the best study environment I’ve found anywhere in the world.

The Thorvaldsens Museum is a canalside museum in Copenhagen, built around the burial place of neoclassical sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. The museum showcases the work and personal collection of the legendary sculptor, who gained international fame in the early 19th century. Inspired by excavations of Pompeii and Herculaneum, the ornate setting holds his sculptures and artifacts.
I didn’t know what to expect with this museum but it was a good surprise. It is an art museum about the sculptor Berthel Thorvaldsens and his sculptures which are amazing. The museum is large with two floors and many galleries with sculptures and paintings. It’s a must do if you like art and architecture in my opinion.
Melanie M — Google review
Yes, the sculpture is cool—but the real star of Thorvaldsens Museum is the building itself. The architecture and interior finishes are absolutely stunning. From the bold, unexpected paint colors to the intricate mosaic floors and rich murals, every detail feels intentional and iconic. It’s a visual feast and genuinely inspiring. I was also unexpectedly impressed by the permanent archaeological collections—especially the cameo collection, which is the most diverse and beautiful I’ve ever seen. Not just classical portraits of women, but also plants, animals, insects, and a range of stone and shell materials. It’s a thoughtful and unique display that goes beyond the expected. A beautiful way to spend 1–2 hours—and even better, Wednesdays are free!
Anna H — Google review
I had longed to see the works of Thorvaldsen and the museum building itself is a masterpiece. I spent two hours and I think it's right. So unfortunate that in the app of the museum and behind the QR codes there were only Danish comments. At least the three I tried, after that I gave up. That would be a lot better to have the works' explanations also in English. Other than that I really enjoyed the stay!

Imagine Dragons concert was great in this venue but to get into was so unorganized, leaving the venue was madness, no clear instructions of where to get the bus, no sign of extra buses, when we did get a bus it was so jammed it was hot, it took an hour to get to Christianshavn station , there were cars, buses , taxis and hordes of people trying to get out. I would not recommend it as a concert venue

Absolutely worth it going to Refshaleøen’s street food market during a sunny day. I went on Saturday during the summer and the experience couldn’t be better. Remember to bring your swimming shorts / gear because swimming in the sea is also a great thing to do there. Food is delicious and you have many many options to choose from. Beer tents are also plenty and you can definitely find your type. There is also live music and many chairs and space to sit a enjoy the view. A Must-Do Summer Experience in Copenhagen – Canal Tour from Nyhavn If you're in Copenhagen, especially during the summer, a canal tour is an absolute must! The ride typically starts from the picturesque Nyhavn harbor and lasts about an hour—packed with stunning views and a relaxing vibe. I highly recommend booking your slots in advance, as the tours can fill up quickly, especially during peak hours. I went with my family and we thoroughly enjoyed cruising on the wavy waters, soaking up the sunshine, and taking in the city's rich heritage and iconic landmarks. It’s a perfect way to see Copenhagen from a unique perspective—peaceful, scenic, and memorable.

We took the 1 hour canal tour while on a visit to København. We did not have to wait for more than 5 minutes for purchasing the tour tickets. The boat was large with an open top. There was a lady guide announcing the details of the ride It was a smooth ride and we could see some beautiful buildings around the quay. She explained some parts with their historical background. There were several low-height bridges ( more like Venice or Amsterdam). This part of the city had lots of tourists, mostly youngsters and some couples with kids.Fortunately it was a bright sunny day with small patches of clouds passing by.
RAVINDRA — Google review
Not exactly a bargain, but still very good experience if you want to take in some of Copenhagen and get a feel for it from the water side. If you want to do the city, the hop on hop-off bus probably provides a similar experience, but the water-borne experience is a lot more intimate. It's a couple of hours till that takes you around through the inner Port and and the little area that looks a lot like Amsterdam, but at a much slower Pace than the import, which allows you to take in the ambience and all the sights of the area.
Richard H — Google review
This tour was the best, we booked online and it was super easy. We turned up on time and were on the boat immediately. The tour guide was so knowledgeable about the whole area and could answer any question. There are a lot of low bridges on the tour so make sure.you.sit down when instructed! It is a great introduction to the fantastic city of Copenhagen and will help you decide where to go and what to see on your trip whether long or short.. enjoy!😁
Murray G — Google review
A super fun way to see parts of Copenhagen! On a nice day, there’s a slight breeze and those sunny rays feel good! It’s a little chaotic purchasing riches because the boarding lines, the ticket lines, and the prepaid ticket people are all in the same area. Lines crisscrossing. It sends like it could be very easy door someone to cut in line, but they seem to think it works for them, so ok. The ride is about 45 minutes to an hour. It really helps having a lively guide because to be honest, there’s not that much to see, at least not up close. But there are clever looking buildings, like the one that looks like Tobeleron. There are nearby floating bars and restaurants. And there’s even a binge humbling place across the waterway. You get to see the little mermaid statue… but only from the backside!!!
G L — Google review
Absolutely fabulous! We learned so much about Denmark, royalty, the arts, religion, and the kissing bridge. Crazy how the bridges are so so low and the boats soar underneath them. Even with a bit of wind and choppy water the ride was smooth. The tour guide shared all sorts of interesting facts and stories that I will not repeat here, but know that there’s so much intrigue and history, and hearing about it while boating was ideal. Check it out. Don’t worry about the kraken, it’s tame.
Dale B — Google review
I know it's a very touristy thing to do, but the Canal tour is definitely worth it! It's a very good activity when you get in Copenhagen and want to get situated in the city. Nyboder is a charming historic district in Copenhagen, Denmark, featuring rows of distinctive yellow and orange houses dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Initially built by Christian IV to house Danish Navy personnel and their families, these homes have retained their exclusive atmosphere over the years. The area is highly sought after, making it difficult to secure a home without connections.
A historic part of the city worth the visit. For a very modic price there is a small house that is preserved and gives you the chance to travel back in time and understand how life was being part of the navy.

An interesting area of Copenhagen to have a look at the housing architecture. The houses were all built for military personnel. The jewel in the crown is the folk museum that opens on Sundays between 11am and 2pm. Run by very knowledgeable volunteers it shows what like was like for people in the navy years ago. Nyboder (English: New [small] Houses) is a historic row house district of former Naval barracks in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was planned and first built by Christian IV to accommodate a need for housing for the personnel of the rapidly growing Royal Danish Navy and their families during that time. While the area is still commonly associated with the name of its founder as one of his numerous building projects around Copenhagen, the Nyboder seen today was in fact, except for a single row of houses in Sankt Pauls Gade, built from 1757.

Nature & Parks
Den Blå Planet, also known as the Blue Planet, is Europe's largest aquarium located in the city of Den Blå. The aquarium holds seven million liters of water and features a variety of fresh and sea water wildlife. Visitors can explore vast tanks housing hammerhead sharks, observe schools of piranhas up close, and witness the feeding of otters and penguins. The layout is spacious and well-designed, offering an immersive experience for guests.
Great place! Went on a Friday 7pm-9pm, not crowded at all! 2 hours is enough to walk through it all (when less people). Friendly staff. Kid friendly areas. Nice looking gift/souvenir shop. Didn’t like that the WC was both for men and women, big minus.
Ulrika Z — Google review
What a magnificent aquarium! We had tickets for a Saturday morning admissions, and the gates opens for us right at 10:00. although one might think it would be busier on a weekend, there wasn’t a wait at all and the aquarium never felt overrun. The „story teller“ Ida did such a great jobs connecting facts about the animals with the history of the aquarium. And Ida always made sure to repeat everything she said in Danish to English. We were fortunate enough to witness both the feeding of the sting rays and the a feeding of the big ocean aquarium. We had a lovely lunch (you can bring your own food and drinks) outside right by the shore and enjoyed sitting in the warm sun watching planes come into the airport. There is a water playground outside for the little ones. There are many hands on exhibits, and all the tanks had touch screen information available in multiple languages. We had a very good time at this aquarium, spent about 3h (lunch included) there, but never felt rushed or crowded.

Amazing experience! The aquarium is beautifully designed and full of fascinating marine life. The tunnels with sharks and rays are stunning, and everything is very well maintained. Great for families, couples, or anyone who loves the ocean. Definitely worth a visit!
Danielle — Google review
We visited here whilst in Copenhagen for the October half term, originally when I booked the trip the aquarium was included on the discovery card but then it got taken off so I had to pay separately. For 3 of us (an adult, a teen and a child) it cost £65. The aquarium is really big, has quite a bit to see, alot of information dotted around about the species etc... really easy to get to by bus which took us about 35 mins. If you aren't a fan of eating fish or danish style food id suggest bringing lunch with you or eat after you've visited. The only negative I have is the guy doing the feeding talk on the day we went barely translated anything into English, so we had no clue what fish were eating, who was fed first and ended up leaving the session because we had no clue what he was saying. He even asked who understood him and more than half of the group raised their hand but still didn't translate. The rest of the staff were all polite and friendly.

Wonderful place to visit in Copenhagen , different water animals, green house for plants , butterflies and birds with small waterfall. Can experience touching different fishes. Close to bus stop. Nice cafe area both indoor and outdoor, one shouldn’t miss the view of water outside the cafe and play space for kids. Highly recommend to buy ticket in advance as it could be sold out and might not get the ticket for quick entry , so to avoid the wait, it’s best to get ticket in advance. It’s small but well managed , but over crowded.
Aarati K — Google review
Great aquarium, a lot of fun activities! We got a chance to watch the fish in the big tank from above with explanations about the feeding habits. All in all, probably the best aquarium we've visited so far. Online tickets are cheaper.
Ana T — Google review
A must-see in Copenhagen if you enjoy marine life. The building’s design is stunning, and the variety of exhibits—from tropical coral reefs to the ocean tank—keeps you engaged throughout. Highlights include the underwater tunnel and the playful otters. The educational displays are clear and engaging, and the staff are friendly and helpful. That said, the ticket price feels a bit high, and some areas can get crowded, especially on weekends, which makes it harder to enjoy at your own pace. Still, it’s a memorable and unique experience that’s well worth a visit.
PMJ _ — Google review
Good informational displays in multiple languages. Well kept animals. The shark tunnel is mesmerizing. The ancient fish and aquatic dinosaur display was a nice surprise. Some of the tanks in the first freshwater section were very dark, so it was hard to see the fish. I liked the outdoor terrarium display and the south American freshwater fish.

The Copenhagen Opera House is a futuristic landmark located on the harborfront, housing an international opera company and featuring a 1400-seat main auditorium. Despite some criticism about its architectural fit with the surroundings, it remains an iconic attraction in the Danish capital. The venue hosts a diverse range of top-rated performances on its main and second stages. Additionally, visitors can enjoy dining at Restaurant Kost& Mask, which offers a changing selection of delectable dishes with an emphasis on both taste and vitality.
Visiting the opera house was an incredible experience. We took the backstage tour and got a fascinating look into how everything operates behind the scenes. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, sharing detailed insights about the building’s history, architecture, and inner workings. Highly recommended for anyone interested in theatre and the arts! The opera house park cafe is also worth the visit but reservations are recommended.
Jawahar A — Google review
We booked the guided tour of the Opera House, and it was well worth it. Our guide was excellent — full of insightful commentary, tasteful humor, and fascinating royal anecdotes. As an architecture student, I found the visit particularly enriching — not only for its perspective on Danish architecture, but also for its glimpse into the unique spatial logic of opera houses. I would have loved to see the main hall from the stage perspective, but it was understandable — the scenography team was busy preparing for the next performance. A memorable and thoughtful tour overall.
Gustav L — Google review
Architecturally stunning both inside and out, this place has several theatres in one. In fact the backstage is larger than the stage so it can provide space for several performances to occur simultaneously. We had seats near the back in the orchestra section for the ballet, The Great Gatsby. It was a fabulous performance with good acoustics. Pro tip: get there early enough for the behind the scenes tour.

It’s always a memorable experience to visit the Royal Opera for opera, ballet or other performances or events, sound, lights and stagecrafting is top notch. Further the supreme location along the Copenhagen waterfront allows for wonderful sunset views of the Royal Palace, especially from the viewing platform at the top level. The cafe next opera house above the underground parking structure is also a nice bookend to an evening spent at the royal opera. 10/10

Stunning architecture beaten only by the performance of Tosca the staging was sublime. Recommend a visit.

A beautiful theater, though it doesn’t quite compare to the iconic Sydney Opera House—also the work of a Danish architect. A fun little Easter egg here: the tiles produce different sounds when tapped, almost like playing a xylophone

SMK – Statens Museum for Kunst, also known as the National Gallery of Denmark, is a must-visit destination in Copenhagen. It boasts an extensive collection of over 260,000 artworks, making it the largest art collection in the country. The museum is housed in two interconnected buildings: a Renaissance-style structure and a modern extension.
Great and very large museum. Walk through various galleries including a large collection of Danish, French/ European artists. They have renaissance and modern spaces. With pieces by many masters. Plan on spending at least two hours. They also have a good size gift shop and a café.
Alan Y — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to SMK, especially the impressive collection of classic art. The Danish Golden Age section was a true highlight for me — the works by Eckersberg, Købke, and other 19th-century masters beautifully capture both the mood and light of the time. It’s a must-see if you appreciate finely detailed, skillful painting rooted in tradition and national identity. However, I have to be honest: the upper floor, which houses a lot of modern and contemporary art, wasn’t my cup of tea. Some of it felt extremely bizarre. Much of it felt overly abstract and strange, and didn’t resonate with me at all. Still, that’s a matter of personal taste — if you're a fan of experimental modern pieces, you may feel differently, I presume. Overall, a wonderful museum for classical art lovers, especially if you want to dive into Denmark’s rich artistic heritage. Just be prepared for a very different vibe upstairs (to say the least)!

So many eras and collections of artworks to see here! I spent about 1.75 hours here but it wasn’t even at a slow pace. There is just so much to see here, from famous artists like Rembrandt and Matisse, to Danish classics like Wilhelm Freddie. It is all so unique and I learned a lot about Danish’s art history from walking through this gallery. I highly recommend coming here during your stay in Copenhagen!

As a travel expert, I can confidently say that the National Gallery of Denmark (SMK) is a truly captivating destination. The architecture itself is a magnificent blend of historic elegance and modern design. Inside, it masterfully curates Denmark's rich art history, from the Golden Age to contemporary works, offering a deep and beautiful look into the nation's cultural evolution. A must-visit for any art lover!

Amazing! I was there for the K7 week and it was definitely worth the visit. The exhibition they have on comtemporary danish artists is very complete and diverse, leaving room for conversations, for laughs and for relaxed discussions. I will definitely come back another day to complete the visit!

Lovely artworks, some famous ones and a lot of Danish paintings. The outline of the museum was confusing and I felt like there was a lot of wasted space in the courtyard. There are some lockers downstairs when you can store your stuff. Staff was nice but the lady at the entrance counter was a bit moody. It’s nice enough but if you have to pick between this one or Glyptoteket (or any other museum) I’d say go there instead.
R V — Google review
We really enjoyed our visit to the National Gallery of Denmark. It’s a beautiful space with lots to see, the Rembrandt and Munch pieces were definite highlights. The layout makes it easy to wander and take everything in at your own pace. The only downside was that the French section was closed, which was a bit disappointing still, it’s a great gallery and well worth a visit if you’re in Copenhagen!

Rådhuspladsen is a lively and spacious public square in the heart of Copenhagen, right in front of the impressive City Hall building. It’s a great spot to take in the architecture, sit and relax, or use as a central meeting point. Step out into Radhuspladsen, Copenhagen's grand central square, and you'll find a place that feels both timeless and modern. The magnificent Copenhagen City Hall, with its intricate stonework and towering clock, evokes a sense of grandeur straight out of a fantasy novel. Adding to this magical atmosphere is one of my favourite features: the Dragon Fountain. Its design is truly mystical, looking like something pulled directly from a medieval tale. The dragons coiled around the basin and the figures battling them feel like a story carved in stone. Beyond the stunning architecture, the square itself is exceptionally clean and well-maintained, creating a welcoming atmosphere. It feels incredibly safe, and as the sun sets, the night view is simply beautiful, with the city lights illuminating the majestic buildings. Radhuspladsen is a must-see for anyone who loves a beautiful cityscape with a touch of magic.

The Christiansborg's Tower, located on Slotsholmen island in the heart of Copenhagen, is part of the royal palace and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Standing at 106 meters tall, it is the highest tower in Copenhagen and provides a magnificent vantage point to admire the city's architectural landmarks. The tower is situated within Christiansborg Palace, which currently houses the Danish parliament, Prime Minister's Office, and Supreme Court.
Beautiful views for free? Yes, please! The tower is part of a large museum, but visitors can ascend to the top of the tower at no cost. Follow the signs underneath the tower to find the waiting queue. Visitors often report a 30-60 minute (a fair caveat for a free attraction)—we visited in the late afternoon on a weekday and only experienced a 15 minute wait. The journey will include two elevators and a few stairs. Wonderful view from the top on all four sides.
Troy W — Google review
The tower has free entry, but the queues to get in are very long. They have to limit the number of people, so you need to wait for enough of the last batch to come back down. You go through airport style security when you first enter the building. You can request a pat down if you have medical equipment that can not go through a scanner. There are lifts all the way to the top. The first lift holds eight people, and the second holds six. As they had let around twenty-three people in, this meant more waiting. There are also some sculptures that you can view before going out to the viewing area. The views are okay. You can see quite far. The fencing is quite high, so it can be difficult to get pictures if you are short. The tower is fully accessible to people who use a wheelchair. You can borrow a wheelchair for free.
Shelley C — Google review
Free and amazing. Go after 6pm to avoid long lines. Security like airports. Very friendly staff. Amazing views. Check in the sculptures on the ground floor as well. At 106 meters, it is Copenhagen's highest tower. The tower was built as part of the third and current Christiansborg Palace, constructed between 1907 and 1928. The tower's viewing platform, called "The View" (Udsigten), is open to visitors and offers panoramic views of Copenhagen from 44 meters above ground.
Kiara — Google review
The tower at Christiansborg offers a beautiful view over Copenhagen. It’s an enjoyable trip up, and definitely worth it. There’s airport-style security before going up, which makes sense considering it’s also home to parts of the Danish government. The tower visit was included in our reservation at the restaurant, which was a lovely dining experience with an elegant and antique atmosphere. If you're on a budget, the restaurant might be something to skip, but if not, it's a great way to make the most of the visit.

Saibya T — Google review
Really fascinating exhibits here. There’s a really great exhibit on danish, design and architecture (permanent) and a very thought-provoking one on building materials for the 21st-century, that are more biologically inclusive to all creatures. Plus a fun slide, and a rooftop café with great views!
Kari K — Google review
The building is beautiful. The items of the museum are ok. There are instructive videos there and a long slide. Restaurant/cafe has grand view
Mir S — Google review
Such a cool place to visit if you’re into design and architecture. Sadly the second floor was closed during my visit. It’s still fun to be here even if you don’t know much about design because at least you can take a slider down from the third floor to the ground floor!
Rachel M — Google review
Beautiful and modern museum, with an outstanding staff, and a gorgeously curated collection of art, architecture and design. Also, do not miss the chance to slide down the slide at the end of your visit! Childhood memories instantly unlocked <3
Nicole P — Google review
Chair fans will be thrilled! (The THIS IS NATURE exhibition was brilliant and I thoroughly enjoyed my time here!)
Stunfisk — Google review
Intriguing and interesting pomo building housing a fascinating exhibition on Danish architectural history and displays on renovation and conservation on the upper floors. Good views of the city. Only one criticism the captions and written descriptions on the historical displays could have been in bigger type tomakr them easier to read.

Superkilen Park is a vibrant urban space located in Norrebro, Copenhagen. It is part of an urban regeneration project and features a jogging track, playground, basketball court, and skateboard ramp. Designed by artist group Superflex and German landscape architects Topotek1, the park consists of a Red Square, Black Square, and green area along The Green Cycle Route.
We rented bikes in the city and rode out here to get some energy out with our teenage son. Super fun spot and very close to the city. Loved the bike hill most of all but was also cool to watch the guys do tricks on skateboards
Melanie F — Google review
A park with a playground and exercise equipment, skater areas, and a cycle path. There is also lots of graffiti and a few sculptures. Designed to promote tolerance and unity between local people and immigrants. It was fun to visit, but it had a bit of a run-down feeling to the area. The area is accessible to people who use a wheelchair, but there was not any specialist play equipment for disabled people to use.
Shelley C — Google review
as a tourist not much to here honestly. Seems to be a popular spot for locals though. seems like the the concept behind is to promote international ties and the place embraces attributes of other cultures in different forms
Mike — Google review
Superkilen is a very different park in Copenhagen, it showcases the diversity of Nørrebro, with design elements and objects from all over the world. You’ll find everything from Moroccan fountains to Thai swings and even a neon sign from Russia. The space is divided into three areas: the Red Square (great for skating and people-watching), the Black Market (more relaxed, with chess tables and benches), and the Green Park (for picnics and play).Perfect for photos, meeting locals, or just taking a walk through global culture, all in one neighborhood. If you’re visiting Copenhagen, this is definitely worth the stop.
Tato — Google review
This is the most creative park I’ve ever seen. Its unique and unusual appearance, along with the futuristic design, really appeals to young people. I truly admire the kind of person who could come up with something like this. I absolutely love this kind of cool, chic design. The photos came out absolutely stunning!
Wanderlust — Google review
Nørrebro Park is a hidden gem in Copenhagen! Visit during cherry blossom season for a magical experience-soft pink petals, peaceful walking paths, and vibrant area. Perfect for walk, photos, or just soaking in springtime beauty. A must-see for nature lovers and city explorers alike!
Tetiana B — Google review
It’s a pretty cool park but considering the other in the city it’s above average. A lot of things to do for the kids and also some calisthenic spot. It’s a must visit if you are around Norrebro.
Agustin R — Google review
Was good wish it had a larger park for toddlers

In general i liked as its a very good idea to show all of us how many resources are used only for construction !...I didnt know that... Interesting model of the 20 store wooden building built in Denmark in 2023.
Jacek M — Google review
Does not float my boat too much wasted space. Nice cafe though. There should be more low carbon designs with rain water harvesting solar & wind power generation and special glass which allows the warmth of the sun to heat up new material heat sinks. It was designed by architects for architects, the Engineers sbould have been given a brief to fix the architects mistakes and oversights.
Gregory H — Google review
Very well done exhibits on architecture and design. Beautiful view from the top floor and a slide down to the ground floor. Gift shop has a nicely curated selection of quality items. Definitely worth a stop for those interested in sustainability.
Megan W — Google review
Nice architecture place with focus on recycled materials. Beautiful view from the roof top café
Feng Z — Google review
A great place to learn about architecture and design. While we were there, an interesting exhibition about recycling in the architecture sphere
Daniela T — Google review
Very interesting place! And alot of good information about the origin of architecture in Denmark! I was also looking forward to the big slide at the end, but ended up being disappointed because it was so slow... Probably good for kids who likes it slow!
Kaspar N — Google review
Quite an interesting museum. It explains above all the fears they have of the rise of water and the possible solutions that exist for a safe life.
Javisa A — Google review
The basement has three exhibits two being photography focused ('the camera and us' and 'press photo of the year 2023') and one being about the history of the building. There's not many people, so you can take your time walking around. Interesting layout. If you really like fine art photography, it wasn't the best exhibit. A very small collection of good works and the other exhibit is more photo journalism. Very beautiful and important photography but journalism focused.

Embark on a canal tour in Copenhagen to witness the city's stunning canals and waterfront neighborhoods. Whether you opt for a kayak, pedalo, or motorboat, the boat tours offer an unparalleled perspective of the city from its waters. As you navigate through the harbor and canals of Christianshavn, you'll gain insight into Copenhagen's maritime history. With both shorter and longer guided tours available, sit back and soak in the capital's charm while learning about its rich heritage.
This was an excellent tour first of all taking us past all the old and beautiful houses and then out into the wider water area where we passed some of the iconic sites, apartment developments getting a really good sense of the broader area. The tour took a few hours and was a great way to relax and be informed at the same time. Highly recommend this.
Ross D — Google review
One hour canal tours with an English-speaking guide that launches every half hour. I definitely recommend opting for the open-air boat on a nice sunny day. The tour hit all the major spots along the canal and the guide provided brief info on the history of the buildings etc. I definitely recommend taking the boat tour if you’re visiting Copenhagen.
Matt S — Google review
Great experience and made feel very comfortable by excellent guide Nena . “Keep your hands in and head down “ 😂😂😮. Got to see all the water located attractions in Copenhagen. Ducks eye view I’d say .. put this on your list of experiences when visiting Copenhagen.
Tony D — Google review
Must do while in copenhagen, gives you a clear idea about the city and its important places
Dr C — Google review
Just had the most relaxing and chilled Sunday morning on the canal/harbor tour. We sailed with strommer, and the tour guide was so chill and really informative. Really impressed with Copenhagen from the water and it was an entirely new perspective. Definitely try this and if you can, do it early on a Sunday morning for ultra chilled ambience and less people on the boat
D — Google review
To get a comprehensive idea about the architecture of the city, the landmarks, I recommend to get the Canal tour. I had it twice, once in winter and once at spring and both were beautiful. The guided tour offers explanation in English. The hosts were very friendly.
Ali — Google review
I almost skipped this but decided to do it when a friend recommended it. I am so glad I did. It was a cool perspective to see the city and the guide was very good. It was also nice to have a break from walking but still get to learn about Copenhagen.
Mariah S — Google review
Amazing experience. Patrick was our tour guide and was really entertaining, knowledgeable and passionate about Copenhagen. Highly recommend as a must do!
