Nyhavn is a must-visit destination in Copenhagen, offering a picturesque representation of the city's maritime legacy. The area boasts iconic colorful buildings, lively bars, and cozy cafes along the bustling waterfront. It appeals to photography enthusiasts, food lovers, and those looking for an authentic Danish experience. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls and romantic walks while taking in the vibrant atmosphere.
Looks exactly like all the photos, lovely area either beautiful danish houses, boutiques and souvenirs. There are nice canal side restaurants, boat rest aired, public benches and live buskers all around so you can do a lot without spending much. Careful not to get run over by bikes!
Felicia M — Google review
A very pleasant and lively area. A boat tour is recommended. You can see many places in an hour. I think there are two boat tours. One is very cheap. You should ask about the difference and choose accordingly.
Cem Ö — Google review
Visited Nyhavn over the weekend and absolutely loved it! 🌈 The colorful houses along the canal look stunning, especially on a sunny day ☀️. Tip: for the best photo, click from the opposite side of the canal 📸. Lined with cozy cafes and restaurants, it’s a perfect place to relax, enjoy a meal, and soak in the cheerful Copenhagen vibes 🇩🇰.
YG T — Google review
Nice view to take pictures. Both side of the canal has dozens of shops to hang out and buy souvenirs. All are expensive then what is priced outside of this zone. There is a big obnoxious ship in the canal and it is hard to take a nice reflective photo with the colorful buildings. That is why I personally like the one in Trondheim Norway.
Tas A — Google review
Lively waterfront with many restaurants! I love the atmosphere but it was very crowded at the same time. We had a Thai food at Charm restaurant close by for dinner and the ice cream for dessert just across the road from Vaffelbageren Nyhavn. It's definitely a lovely place to walk around and soak up the vibe!
Penny G — Google review
It's a must see and very photographic landmark area. There are numerous restaurants and small shops. You catch a canal tour here as well. Don't forget to visit the shop where Hans Christian Anderson once lived.
David H — Google review
If you want to see only one place in Copenhagen, it should be definitely Nyhavn. Fabulous and lovely! Full of nice and cozy cafe and restaurant around it.

Tivoli Gardens is a 19th-century amusement park located in the heart of Copenhagen. It features an antique roller coaster and a live entertainment program, making it a magical and traditional attraction. The park is the second-oldest operating amusement park globally and one of the most popular seasonal theme parks, attracting nearly five million visitors annually.
Had such a fun day at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen! The autumn vibes were magical, and the park looks absolutely stunning as the lights come on in the evening. I highly recommend going late afternoon so you can enjoy it in daylight and then see it sparkle at night. The food was delicious, the rides and attractions were super fun, and the whole day just felt so cozy and special. A must-visit for anyone in Copenhagen! 🎡🍂✨
Lianne H — Google review
An excellent park although off to a skeptical start when I saw the first ride we went on had a member of staff on to "pull the brake". Lots of rides to suit all with a fair number of "tummy turners". Queues were small and the facilities such as food and toilets were at a good standard. We used the Copenhagen card to get in but you need to pay extra for the rides. Was quite cold when we were there so dress appropriately. The teenage kids enjoyed it so that's a thumbs up !
Alex J — Google review
Absolutely fantastic at Christmas! So beautiful love the trees the rides and all the shops. It’s expensive to visit at £28 per person but you can go in the day and get a re entry stamp And come back in the evening to see it all lit up. Also I saw families who took a picnic with them. This is a great idea as it’s a beautiful place to have a picnic and a glass of wine in the gardens. The lake is stunning at night. It gets very busy.
Monisha A — Google review
Its ok. If you're into food? Then great there's a lot of restaurants. There's only one roller-coaster and a few other attractions. Its expensive especially since all we wanted to do was look at the Christmas decorations. It looks amazing at night all lit up but still not worth $30 dollars.
Damian R — Google review
Visited mid November, weather was pleasant during the hours of 5pm-8pm Fair amount of people about but not crowded and easy to navigate. Christmas themed throughout giving it that magic touch for this time of season. Much like the rest of Copenhagen nothing is cheap and being at the theme park its most likely a little bit more
Adam P — Google review
Tivoli Gardens was at the very top of my list when we visited Copenhagen; and it honestly exceeded every expectation. We visited in early September during the Flower Festival and the whole place felt absolutely beautiful with bursts of colour everywhere. Tivoli first opened in 1843 which is wild to think about, and you can really feel that old world charm as soon as you walk in. There’s a lovely little story that Walt Disney visited Tivoli and was so inspired by its atmosphere and attention to detail that it helped inspire Disneyland; when you’re inside, that makes complete sense. We ended up spending nearly the entire day here; wandering through the gardens, listening to jazz bands play, popping into the little Christmas shops (yes, even in September), admiring the flower competition winners and going on a few of the rides. At one point I turned to my husband and said, “I feel like a kid again.” There was something so nostalgic and joyful about it, like stepping back into the magic of childhood. There are plenty of places to eat inside Tivoli depending on what you feel like; everything from quick bites and coffee to full sit down restaurants and even the beautiful Nimb Hotel right in the middle of it all. The food court is great if you want something casual and fast before exploring more. I also loved how different the park feels as the day turns into evening; during the day it’s lush and garden like, and then at night all the twinkle lights come on and it feels dreamy and romantic. Tivoli is open in different seasons throughout the year including Halloween and Christmas; I heard that November and December are extra special because Tivoli transforms into a Christmas wonderland with decorations, lights, markets and a completely different festive atmosphere. I would honestly love to go back in December just to experience that version of the park. Opening hours change depending on the season but it stays open late enough that you don’t need to rush. My biggest tip is to give yourself enough time. This isn’t the kind of place you speed through; it’s somewhere you stroll, snack, listen to music, ride the rides and just enjoy being there. Tivoli was one of the most memorable experiences of our Copenhagen trip; if you’re visiting the city, this is a must. It’s truly one of those rare places that makes you feel happy, light and a little bit enchanted.
Happy D — Google review
Excellent theme park. We visited as decorated and themed for Christmas Was surprisingly a lot better than anticipated. Prices for ultimate tickets purchased on Get your Guide . Around £45 each . Great value. Lots to see and do. Food prices are similar to those around the city
Ste — Google review
This is one of the oldest amusement park in the world but it is well maintained. All the decoration and pop up events are to the point. Well decorated for the Halloween 🎃! ++ point: the food at the foodcourt is very tasty and wide range of selection.

Christiansborg Palace is a must-see in Copenhagen, Denmark. It's home to the Danish Parliament, the Prime Minister's office, and the Supreme Court of Denmark. The palace also houses government and judicial offices. Visitors can explore its lavish reception rooms like the Great Hall, Tower Hall, and Oval Throne Room. Don't miss the royal kitchen and the remains of an older castle beneath the main building. The palace has a rich history spanning over 800 years and covers a large area.
I only had time to visit the royal reception rooms and the experience was already beyond my expectation. The Queen's Tapestries at the Knights' Hall were jaw-dropping. 1,100 years of Danish history were woven into 17 colourful tapestries. They were modern and educative. If I had more time, I would spend all day looking at them and try to learn the history/stories in each of them.
Rachel M — Google review
Christiansborg Palace is a historic palace in Copenhagen, Denmark, that now houses the country's three branches of government: the Parliament, the Supreme Court, and the Ministry of State. Once a royal residence, it is open to the public and features attractions like the Royal Reception Rooms, the Royal Stables, and a viewing tower with panoramic city views. Visitors can also explore the underground ruins of earlier castles that stood on the site.
Randy B — Google review
The grand, grandeur and wonderful castle in the heart of Copenhagen. What a splendid way the castle is decorated and preserved and still active. Such display of wealth is dazzling. They have visuals and videos of the historical aspect of the castle. Interesting to go through them and better for kids to enhance their knowledge.
Tas A — Google review
Visiting Christiansborg Palace was one of the highlights of my time in Copenhagen. The palace itself is a beautiful blend of history and functionality, serving as a working government building while also offering visitors a chance to explore royal reception rooms, historic halls, and underground ruins. Walking through the palace felt like stepping through layers of Danish history, where modern governance and royal tradition exist side by side. The climb to the top of the tower was absolutely worth it. The viewing platform offered one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the city. From above, I could see the colorful rooftops, winding canals, and the orderly beauty of Copenhagen stretching in every direction. The view was especially impressive because it felt peaceful and expansive, giving a sense of the city’s balance between tradition, water, and urban life. Christiansborg is a must-see for anyone who wants both rich history and a stunning perspective of Copenhagen from above. It is a perfect combination of cultural depth and unforgettable views.
Jacqueline S — Google review
Christiansborg Palace is a unique and fascinating destination in Copenhagen, blending royal splendor with the seat of modern democracy. It’s one of the only buildings in the world that houses all three branches of a country’s government — the Danish Parliament, Supreme Court, and Prime Minister’s Office — all within a former royal palace. That alone makes it worth visiting. Architecturally, Christiansborg is an imposing and elegant structure built in Neo-Baroque style with touches of Neo-Classicism, especially visible in its formal reception halls. The current palace is actually the third iteration — previous versions were destroyed by fire in 1794 and again in 1884. What you see today is the result of a rebuild completed in the early 20th century, blending old grandeur with modern sensibilities. The tall central tower is the highest in Copenhagen and offers free public access with panoramic city views. Inside, the Royal Reception Rooms are a highlight, especially the Great Hall with its striking modern tapestries depicting Danish history, designed by artist Bjørn Nørgaard. The Queen still uses these rooms for official state functions, adding a sense of living history to the experience. You can also explore the Royal Stables, the Royal Kitchen, and the underground ruins, where remnants of the medieval Bishop’s Castle and earlier palaces have been preserved. In short, Christiansborg may not have the romantic fairy-tale look of some other castles, but it offers something deeper — a powerful connection between Denmark’s royal past and its modern democracy. A rewarding and educational visit, especially for those interested in history, architecture, and politics.
Dmitry Z — Google review
I visit Christiansborg all the time as a local guide, and it’s one of those places that keeps revealing new layers. The palace sits on top of centuries of history. In the 1100s, Bishop Absalon built the first fortress here, and the remains of that medieval castle are still visible in the underground ruins. It’s a pretty wild feeling to walk below the modern parliament and stand inside what used to be Copenhagen’s very first stronghold. On my tours, I often see the royal horses in the courtyard, which always adds a bit of magic. A couple of tips if you go: ride the elevator up to the tower for one of the best panoramic free views in the city, and book a meal at Restaurant Tårnet if you have time. It’s cosy, atmospheric and a fun contrast to the political building beneath you. The museums inside the palace are also worth exploring. The royal reception rooms and the ruins under the building give you a much deeper sense of Denmark’s royal and political history. Overall, Christiansborg is one of Copenhagen’s most iconic landmarks and a must-visit if you want to understand the city properly.
Michael O — Google review
One of the most grand and beautiful castle I've ever been to. A must see if you are in Copenhagen! Buy the ticket and check out the beautiful reception area!

Rosenborg Castle is a well-preserved Dutch Renaissance palace located in the King's Garden, featuring stunning architecture and a rich history. Built in the early 17th century as a summer residence for Danish monarchs, it boasts red brick facades, copper-green roofs, and intricate ornamentation. Today, it serves as a museum showcasing lavish rooms, tapestries, and artwork. The basement houses the Danish Crown Jewels and royal regalia such as crowns and scepters.
Worth to visit. You need to have a half of day to visit them leisurely. Otherwise you have to run and you will miss those. In the castle there are two parts. Furniture, cloths , drawings are in 3/4 floors. Treasury is in the ground. Don’t miss to visit treasure. There is sanitary facilities too They have a garden as well. You can spend the time there. You can buy tickets over the counter. And there are lockers to keep your bags in. You can have the key. It’s free. They dont allow you to go inside with large bags ( even handbag)
Kasunsala G — Google review
Rosenborg Castle is a historic site in central Copenhagen, best known for housing the Danish Crown Jewels and Royal Regalia. The rooms are well-preserved and give a good overview of Denmark’s royal history. The Treasury in the basement is a highlight. The surrounding King’s Garden is open to the public and great for a walk. Worth a visit if you're interested in history or culture. Buy tickets in advance to avoid lines.
Martina P — Google review
Rosenborg Castle is a wonderful place to visit: full of history, charm, and beautifully preserved treasures. The interiors and royal collections are fascinating. However, the exhibition lighting could be improved, as some areas were quite dim and it was difficult to see certain displays clearly. Overall, still a great experience and definitely worth visiting!
Giorgos G — Google review
Well truely a marvel of the history. Absolutely loved the aura of the castle and its surroundings. There is big park and lake in front of the castle. It is easy to get to the place, thanks to the well connected public transport systems. The architecture of the castle is something that is worth mentioning. I would recommend to read and learn about the history of the palace before visiting it so that you can just relive the past and get a feel of the same. If you are planning to go in a weekend, be prepared to wait for sometime as there would be rush.
Krishna C — Google review
Not wheel chair accessible. My first ever Royal Castle. Be prepared for low light conditions. The history is right up and close as I have ever been in a museum setting. So respect the access. I loved looking at all the fine quality work completed by the period artisans and amazing quality especially all the inlay works in wood, tile & gems. Stunning if you live feeling the history. The Royal Treasury is exceptional and shows what was valued and when. Even in October when I went the Gardens were blooming.
Jeff C — Google review
Beautiful and well-kept heritage. I tried to visit the day after the Copenhagen half-marathon, but I didn't have time to get tickets online so that I couldn't get inside. I recommend buying tickets in advance. However, upon walking around, I can say that this is one of the most beautiful castles I have seen recently, compared to what I saw in England.
Ivan V — Google review
Cool old castle. Lots of history. Some interesting stuff that you don't normally see in a castle like a farting chair and a king's toilet. This is like the old and more castle-ish version of Danish aristocratic housing. For the real palace feel of the monarchy visit Christiansborg Palace. The royal family actually live in nearby Amelienborg.
Michael L — Google review
Beautiful site and an easy walk from the waterfront. You can also peek at the King’s Gardens out back — immaculately kept, of course. The day pass is worth it for convenient access to the castle. Free lockers are a nice touch, and the guards with bayonets add a bit of royal drama. Inside, the halls are filled with art and artifacts — the grand hall with the thrones and lion statues is a standout. Don’t miss the Crown Jewels in the walk-in vault downstairs, complete with a step ladder for the perfect view. A truly regal visit, well worth the stop.

The Church of Our Saviour is a stunning 17th-century Baroque place of worship located in Copenhagen. Its impressive Dutch Baroque architecture features a golden spire and a singing bell tower, adorned with vibrant red and yellow tiles. The church offers one of the best viewpoints in the city, with outstanding panoramic views from the top of its spire. Visitors can embark on an exciting excursion by climbing narrow winding stairs to reach the summit, where they can enjoy breathtaking vistas across Copenhagen.
The Church of Our Saviour is one of Copenhagen’s most famous landmarks and a must-visit if you enjoy history, architecture, and incredible city views. The church itself is beautiful, with a striking baroque interior, but the real highlight is climbing the tower. The spiral staircase on the outside of the spire takes you up high above the city, and the views from the top are absolutely stunning, stretching across Copenhagen and even out to Sweden on a clear day. The climb is steep and narrow in places, and the final stretch on the outside can feel a bit dizzying if you’re not great with heights, but the reward at the top is well worth the effort. It’s best to go on a clear day to really appreciate the panoramic view. The tower can get busy, so going early or outside peak hours makes the experience more enjoyable. Overall, the Church of Our Saviour is an unforgettable stop in Copenhagen. Whether for its history, its unique architecture, or the breathtaking views from the tower, it’s an experience that leaves a lasting impression.
R — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking experience! The Church of Our Saviour is not only a beautiful piece of architecture, but also offers one of the very best views of Copenhagen. The spiral staircase up the tower is a little challenging, but that only makes reaching the top more rewarding. Standing outside on the winding staircase with the city right beneath your feet feels magical. You can see all of Copenhagen – from the canals and colorful houses to the modern skyline. Totally worth the climb, and a must-visit spot if you want a unique perspective of the city!
Kalina M — Google review
Beautiful place! Climbing to the top and amdiring views of the city is one of the nicest experiences in Copenhagen. Important note - there is not only a lot of stairs to the top, but in some moments it's narrow and steep stairs. So it's not so easy to get there, but really worth to visit.
Patrycja Z — Google review
If you see one place for free in Copenhagen, see this church. It's spectacular! If you pay for one sight, pay for the ticket to climb the tower. The views are, quite simply, breathtaking. Outstanding 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
David G — Google review
The church is impressive! Did like it from the outside better than from the inside. There is a movie that is shown and it was disappointing that it was only in Danish. I mean with so many tourists please put English subtitles on. The tower is very impressive and the view real beautiful. But please don’t go up if you have vertigo as it is very high AND NARROW. I did expect some kind of platform on the top but the stairs just got more narrow and more narrow and ended at some point. A bit weird to be honest. For what it is I would say it’s not worth your money. If you have to pay please make it better and also the number of people should be less for one time slot. It’s quite hard to cross paths on those narrow and steep stairs. I do give it 4 stars as it is quite unique!
Tiffany — Google review
I visited only the tower... What a view - just make sure you don't suffer from vertigo and can move agile... The view is spectacular but it's really narrow up there. You might wanna go for sunset. We didn't have wind when I was there but I assume once there is... It's not very hygge...

The Church of Our Saviour is a stunning Baroque landmark from the 17th century. Its most famous feature is the spiral tower with an external staircase, offering breathtaking views over Copenhagen. Inside, you’ll find a beautiful altar and an impressive organ. At 12:00, there is a live organ performance that lasts for about 30 minutes, creating a truly unique atmosphere. A must-visit for history, architecture, and the unforgettable experience of climbing the spire.
Nataliia H — Google review
Church of Our Saviour – Copenhagen A stunning baroque church with one of the best panoramic views in Copenhagen. The highlight is the climb to the top via a unique external spiral staircase—fun and adventurous, but not for the faint-hearted. With over 400 steps, it’s a bit of a workout, and the narrow, winding paths can be challenging for anyone with vertigo. Entry costs €8, and it's well worth it for the view alone.

Amalienborg Palace, an exquisite 18th-century rococo complex in Copenhagen, serves as the winter residence for the Danish monarchy. This remarkable ensemble consists of four distinct palaces—Brockdorfske, Levetzaus, Moltkes, and Schackske—each showcasing stunning architecture and rich history. Surrounding a grand plaza, these palatial structures were adopted by the royal family in 1794 after a devastating fire at Christiansborg Castle.
Visited Amalienborg Palace on a rainy Sunday 🇩🇰. It’s famous for the Changing of the Guard ceremony that starts sharp at 12 noon and lasts about 30 minutes ⏰. Even with the rain, the square was fully packed! If you want a front-row view, reach by 11:45. For us, it was an okay experience — interesting to watch just once.

I had the pleasure of visiting this magnificent palace, and it truly felt like stepping back in time into a world of royalty. The interiors are grand and beautifully preserved, with multiple sections showcasing how the royals once lived. From the opulent living quarters and lavish dining halls to the intricately designed courtyards, every corner tells a story of elegance and power. What stood out to me most was the attention to detail—exquisite furniture, ornate chandeliers, and priceless artifacts that reflect a royal lifestyle at its peak. The guided displays made it easy to understand the history and appreciate the traditions behind each room. Walking through the palace, I could almost imagine the grandeur of royal gatherings and ceremonies that once filled these halls. Overall, it’s a place where history and beauty come together perfectly. If you want to experience the charm of a royal lifestyle, this palace is a must-visit.

We came here with the intention of observing the Changing of the Guards. It starts at 12, so try to be there at 11:30 for a better stand spot. Because lots and lots of people come to see this. Bring hat and sunglasses during summer season. If you are interested in these come otherwise enjoy the castle. You have to buy tickets for the castle and check timing.

Truely amazing.. i had visited Amelienborg palace with my family in the month of May.. just was spell bound by the beauty and architectural marvel of the same. The whole palace was worth watching again and again from each and every angle. As we had visited on a weekend there was really a big crowd which really added to the enrichment of the ambience.. We had planned to reach there to watch the famous change of guard event. It was so awesome.. even though it is something that happens on a daily basis but the accuracy and precision of the event is something to adore for.. From accessibility perspective we have the well established punlic transportation of Copenhagen.. A must watch if you are visiting Copenhagen..

Go at 11:30am to get a good view of the changing of the guard. They push everyone back behind the black lines of the quad closest to the brown doors/left of the entry pillars if you want a good view, but the guards do a march around the while Palace eventually. We also saw the marching band through the town which was cool!

Amalienborg Palace square, Copenhagen, Denmark. This complex has four elegant, Rococo style palaces that surround an octagonal central courtyard. It is close to the Nyhavn Harbour and the Marble Church. Some parts of the complex like the Amalienborg Museum or the Christian VIII's Palace, are open to public (unfortunately, due to lack of time, we could not get into the museum). The daily change of Royal guard ceremony also takes place in the square. The central figure of the square is a large bronze statue of King Frederick V, unveiled in 1771, symbolizing the complete power of the king. Frederik's Church or Marble Church, with its copper green dome serves as the official residence of the Danish Royal family. It lies in alignment with the main Palace and the Copenhagen Opera House. The architectural details of these buildings are clear, well maintained and a wonderful sight to behold. One can actually walk around the square and revel the beauty of these structures, our group did just that during the month of July 2025.

Escape the hustle and bustle of Copenhagen by visiting the tranquil and romantic Copenhagen Botanical Garden. This oasis in the heart of the city is home to an impressive collection of over 13,000 plant species from around the world. The garden features specimens from the tropics, Alps, and even some hardy plants from above the Arctic Circle. It's a perfect retreat for nature lovers seeking a peaceful environment away from crowded tourist spots.
Wonderful place so visit, mostly on a sunny day. Bring a towel and enjoy laying on the grass with birds jumping around. Beautiful experience also walking around the garden and see the various kind of plants and flowers, really recommended!
Marco P — Google review
We had such a great time exploring this botanical garden. What I love most is that the entrance is free if you don’t plan to go inside the glasshouse, which makes it very accessible for everyone to enjoy. The plant biodiversity is truly impressive — from peaceful water lilies and lush greenery to carefully designed rock gardens and shaded woodland paths. Every corner feels thoughtfully maintained, and you can really sense the effort to create an environment where both plants and wildlife thrive. The pond areas are full of life, with turtles, koi fish, and birds adding so much character to the place. I even spotted a magpie and a ladybird up close, which made the visit feel even more connected to nature. It’s not just a place to see plants, but a living, breathing ecosystem where you can slow down and appreciate biodiversity in action. If you’re tired of walking in the city and need a break, this is a great place to recharge. The walking paths are varied — some open and sunny, others shaded and tranquil. It feels like you’re moving through different little worlds within one garden. I especially enjoyed the mix of open views with the sky reflected in the water and more intimate trails lined with rocks and trees. Overall, this is a beautiful spot to spend a few hours, whether you’re here for a calm walk, photography, or just to reconnect with nature. Highly recommended if you’re in the area!

Copenhagen's Botanical Garden (Botanisk Have) is an absolute gem for anyone seeking a delightful and pretty stroll in the heart of the city. It's a truly restorative oasis, perfect for a leisurely walk amidst a stunning array of plant life. You can wander along charming pathways, discovering different themed sections like the rock gardens or the serene lake with its picturesque stone bridge.

A lovely botanical garden, filled with exotic plants and fun walks. The palm house was being renovated when we went, which was pretty cool to look at, they had a big mishmash of scaffolding and lights trying to keep the plants alive (not pictured, sorry). The signage to find your way around the construction wasn't fantastic, getting to glasshouse 2 wasn't as straightforward as it should have been. The rest of the glass houses are excellent, with a good level of information on what's going on there, much better than that silly Glyptotek. I would have liked more context, there were a few information panels that foreshadowed interesting facts, but didn't delve deeper. It felt like a place catering both extremes, people who want to look at pretty plants, and actually botanists, but it'd be nice if it had a bit more information throughout the entire garden for the people in between.. Shout out to the rock garden, of course, it's absolutely massive and got some cracking plants. Also, we went in October, with the season turning, the park section was begining to die back, still lots of nice things to see though. I'd definitely want to visit in summer. Long story short: lovely plants, give me more plant facts.

The Botanical Garden in Copenhagen is a peaceful and beautifully maintained green escape in the heart of the city. Right at the entrance there’s a small shop where you can buy seed packets for growing various flowers, as well as peppers, tomatoes, and more. This time I didn’t visit the indoor greenhouse area, but I’d definitely love to explore it during my next visit. A wonderful spot for nature lovers and anyone looking to unwind.

The Botanical Garden in Copenhagen felt like a hidden pocket of peace right in the middle of the city. As soon as you step inside, you notice how calm and green it is, even though you’re still in the center. The paths wind beautifully through the garden, and you keep discovering new plants and flowers along the way. I really enjoyed just sitting on a bench for a while and taking it all in. It can get a bit busier on weekends, but the atmosphere stays relaxed. If you’re looking for a little escape from the city buzz, this is the perfect spot.

A park with a playground and exercise equipment, skater areas, and a cycle path. There is also lots of graffiti and a few sculptures. Designed to promote tolerance and unity between local people and immigrants. It was fun to visit, but it had a bit of a run-down feeling to the area. The area is accessible to people who use a wheelchair, but there was not any specialist play equipment for disabled people to use.

Superkilen is a very different park in Copenhagen, it showcases the diversity of Nørrebro, with design elements and objects from all over the world. You’ll find everything from Moroccan fountains to Thai swings and even a neon sign from Russia. The space is divided into three areas: the Red Square (great for skating and people-watching), the Black Market (more relaxed, with chess tables and benches), and the Green Park (for picnics and play).Perfect for photos, meeting locals, or just taking a walk through global culture, all in one neighborhood. Kastellet is a well-preserved 17th-century star-shaped fortress in northern Europe. It hosts various events and concerts and is a must-see attraction in Copenhagen. The area also features other notable sites such as the iconic Little Mermaid Statue, Kings Garden, Botanical Garden, Freetown Christiania, Superkilen Park, Frederiksberg Park, and Assistens Kirkegard.
We visited the exterior grounds of this historic fort. It appears to still be in operation on an administrative level. The park-like property is absolutely gorgeous and is meticulously maintained. It was a such a please to stroll around taking in the sites on a recent visit to Copenhagen.

Combine your visit to the Little Mermaid with this Military Fort Visited on Thursday, 31st July 2025, after being dropped off to see the Little Mermaid Statue, I took the opportunity to visit this army barracks. Still an active army site, so the access was limited, but what you could see was wonderful and provided the opportunity to walk the moat mounds that surround the fort. Cycling isn't allowed, but it appears the site is not supervised.
Jeffrey S — Google review
I visited Kastellet in August and it quickly became one of my favorite places in Copenhagen. The fortress is beautifully preserved, with its colorful red and yellow buildings and the iconic Danish flag creating a picture-perfect setting. Walking along the star-shaped ramparts gave me great views of the city and the harbor, and I loved the calm, peaceful atmosphere despite being so close to the center. It’s the kind of place where you can take your time, enjoy the history, and relax in the green surroundings. A wonderful spot that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Copenhagen!
Kalina M — Google review
The Citadel is far more than just a tourist attraction and it is fascinating to watch tourists, the Danish military and members of the public coexist in the sprawling complex. Young cadets man both the entrances to manage car traffic but you can otherwise see joggers, curious tourists and other pedestrians walk freely in and out enjoying the pleasant sights and 360 degree views. It is well worth a visit and spending around an hour to check out the inner fortification as well as the battlements, as it is effectively a living museum.
Andrew M — Google review
The amazing fortress with a beautiful star shape! The Little Mermaid is a famous bronze sculpture in Copenhagen, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's beloved fairy tale. Unveiled in 1913, it sits gracefully on a rock along the waterfront and is a must-see for literature and fairy tale enthusiasts. The site offers serene views of the harbor and appeals to those seeking a contemplative experience. To avoid crowds, visit early in the morning or late afternoon.
The Little Mermaid may be small, but she's full of emotion and history. Sculpted in 1913, she tells the story of love, sacrifice, and longing from Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale. Don't just stop for a photo - walk around the area! You'll find the beautiful Gefion Fountain, St. Alban's Church, and cozy cafés nearby. In spring, especially from mid-April to early May, cherry trees bloom along the paths, making it one of the most romantic walks in Copenhagen. A timeless symbol of beauty and reflection.

Visiting the Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen was a memorable experience. The sculpture itself is smaller than I expected, but it’s beautifully placed by the water and has a certain quiet charm. The surroundings are peaceful, with lovely views across the harbor, and it’s a nice spot for a walk. Even though it can get a bit crowded with tourists, it still feels special to see such an iconic landmark in person. A must-visit if you’re exploring Copenhagen!

The Little Mermaid – A Symbol of Copenhagen We visited the famous Little Mermaid statue, and while the statue itself is quite small, it’s definitely worth the visit. Nestled along the waterfront, the surroundings are absolutely beautiful, offering peaceful views and a scenic walk leading up to the site. The walk itself is part of the experience – calm, relaxing, and filled with lovely views of the harbour. Do keep in mind that it’s a popular attraction, so it can get quite crowded. If you're hoping for a quieter moment, consider visiting early in the morning or later in the evening. A charming and iconic stop on any Copenhagen itinerary.
Mark H — Google review
Copenhagen in the Spring is a nice, relatively quiet port with mostly the usual features of European / Scandinavian ports. The only unique attraction is The Little Mermaid statue, small but with it's own history of abductions, kidnapping and beheadings. If you're lucky your guide will give you the local story of the Little Mermaid which is more of a Danish Tragedy, so beware of little ears who are enchanted by the Disney version. It isn't magical but it's interesting lore. Here are a few other shots of the city as there are ample and better pictures of the Mermaid than I could get under the lighting conditions.
M H — Google review
The Little Mermaid bronze statue, located in Copenhagen, sits on a granite rock, on the water side of langeline promenade. It is 4.1 ft tall and weighs 175 kgs. The Statue was based on the fairy tale of Hans Christian Anderson and was unveiled to the public in 1913. However, it has now become a target for defacement, due to uncaring attitude of some people, despite attracting those tourist and visitors, who are smitten fairy tale lovers, ofcourse that includes me. I loved her quiet gaze, an unassuming sureness of her existence to continue.
Neeru D — Google review
I visited the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen around dusk since it gets dark early this time of year. It wasn’t crowded, which made it easy to take pictures. There were no tickets or anything like that, you just walk up to it. The statue itself was nice to see in person, though it felt a bit simple to me. Still, it was a fun stop and worth seeing while in the city.
Grace W — Google review
it’s a very beautiful and symbolic statue as the sea wraps around it. around the mermaid there’s also a very nice park with amazing statues and church! there are a lot of people coming there for pictures so be prepared if you come in the afternoon!

Free activity - a little underwhelming to be honest, it’s also quite far out to the north of the city. If you on a tight schedule probably better to skip but if you have plenty of time & love the Hans Christian Andersen stories then pop past for a photo - there are actually some beautiful sights near the little mermaid which you can enjoy

The exterior is clad with Norwegian and Danish marble, giving it a distinctive appearance that sets it apart from other European churches.
It’s a grand and magnificent church, especially the dome, which is both tall and spacious. Despite the crowds, it still manages to maintain a peaceful and serene atmosphere.

Also known as the Marble Church, is one of Copenhagen’s most beautiful landmarks and absolutely worth a visit. Its massive dome dominates the skyline and is one of the largest in Europe, making it a striking sight both up close and from a distance. The interior is equally impressive, with stunning architecture, serene atmosphere, and a sense of grandeur that feels both welcoming and awe-inspiring. Visitors can also climb up to the dome on certain days, which is a highlight for those who enjoy city views. From the top, you get a unique perspective over Copenhagen, including Amalienborg Palace and the harbor area. Entry to the church itself is free, which makes it an easy stop to fit into any city itinerary. The Marble Church is always a highlight on my walks. I pass by it several times a week on my walk and ferry tour, and every time I’m reminded of how impressive it really is. The huge dome, the elegant details in the façade and the open space around the church create a calm and majestic atmosphere. Inside, the acoustics and the circular room are beautiful, and even guests who normally don’t pay much attention to architecture are usually quite impressed. It’s one of those places where Copenhagen feels both peaceful and grand at the same time. Frederik’s Church, also known as The Marble Church, is one of the most beautiful landmarks in Copenhagen. Its impressive dome, inspired by St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, is the largest church dome in Scandinavia. The foundation stone was laid in 1749 by King Frederik V, but due to financial difficulties the construction took more than 100 years and was finally completed in 1894. The church is free to enter, and the interior is just as breathtaking as the outside, with stunning marble details and a peaceful atmosphere. If you have the chance, climb up to the dome for an amazing panoramic view of the city. A must-visit if you are in Copenhagen!

The Round Tower, also known as Rundetarn, is a remarkable 17th-century structure in Copenhagen. It was originally built as an astronomical observatory and features a unique spiral ramp instead of traditional stairs. Visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the city from this architectural gem while experiencing its rich history. The gradual ascent makes it accessible to all, appealing to history buffs, architecture enthusiasts, and anyone seeking breathtaking vistas of Copenhagen.
Nice view from the top, you can also take a peek into the observatory up there. That's is also a shop with beautifully designed items (notebooks, post cards, posters, etc) that's adjacent to an art school exhibition. Plus you can take a look into the church's attic and learn about historic stuff

Great attraction right in the city center. The ticket costs around €8. The climb is easy, with very few steps, and the views from the top are beautiful — you can see the entire city from above. There’s also a small museum and a small art exhibition inside. I didn’t visit many attractions in Copenhagen, but I’m glad I visited this one.

Not to be missed. The line was short (on a late Saturday morning). Built under the direction of Danish monarch Christian IV between 1637 and 1642, this impressive tower offers stunning views of the København skyline along with the Øresund Bridge and Sweden in the distance. There are stairs only at the top; the sloping ascent made it possible for Christian IV to view his realm while riding in his carriage.
John Q — Google review
Beautiful building and it was awesome that the tower's path is the slope so it was such a nice way to travel up and down the building, I love it! Fantastic view of the city skyline at the top with a cool astronomy tower within ☀️🌙⭐🔭 There are bathrooms, shop, and gallery half way up the path. You can find a little details about the building and a replica look like it made from cork. Also an art gallery at the shop. The old bathroom was very small and interesting 😁 The final path way up the Round tower is a narrow tight space stairs so you have to wait for the lights to go up and come back down as there is only enough space for a one way traffic. It took up about an hour to get up, look around, and come back out. Definitely a recommendation of things to do in Copenhagen!

Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is a captivating fine art museum that showcases a diverse collection of ancient Mediterranean sculptures, 19th-century French and Danish artworks. The museum offers an immersive experience for art enthusiasts, featuring artifacts from ancient civilizations such as Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Visitors can also explore the impressive winter garden within the museum's premises, providing a picturesque setting for artistic inspiration.
Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is an absolute treasure for anyone who appreciates timeless art and refined curation. From the moment you walk through its grand halls, you’re transported into a world of elegance, history, and cultural richness. The museum is beautifully maintained, and every space — from the central winter garden to the majestic marble galleries — feels thoughtfully preserved and respectfully presented. I especially loved the vast collection of classical art — Greek, Roman, and Egyptian antiquities that are truly world-class. The 19th-century Danish and French collections, with works by artists like Rodin, Degas, and Gauguin, are equally impressive and thoughtfully displayed. One of the biggest highlights is the rooftop terrace, which offers stunning panoramic views over Copenhagen. It’s peaceful, not overly crowded, and provides a perfect pause between exhibits. I truly appreciated that this museum didn’t overload the experience with disjointed, ultra-modern bizarre conceptual art that many other museums now seem obsessed with. Here, the focus remains where it should: on quality, craftsmanship, and the enduring power of the classical tradition. The Nordic and Germanic nations have a rich cultural legacy, and the Glyptotek honors that brilliantly. The staff was kind, professional, and welcoming — clearly proud of the institution they help run. Whether you’re an art lover, a history enthusiast, or simply someone who values beauty over trends, this place is a must-visit in Copenhagen.

Beautiful museum! I absolutely love when museums are filled with statues and this one was filled with them! The building is stunning as well, with sort of an indoor garden by the entrance and big rooms filled with artwork. There’s also a rooftop which was a surprise and has a stunning view of Copenhagen. The reason why I’m not giving them more stars is because of how rude the staff were in the mummy section. There were two young boys (staff apparently) who kept whispering and talking to each other without caring there were people in the room. It completely ruined the vibe and I felt really uncomfortable. I understand it gets boring down there and you need to pass the time, but could you NOT talk when people are there? The amusement park is next door so you will probably hear some screams thought out the museum which was also creepy at times but inevitable. Overall I recommend it. I spent around 2/3 hours there and think I managed to see most of it. You can purchase the ticket online with the QR by the entrance and it’s cheaper. Video of the cute plushies! So expensive tho.

A must-visit museum in Copenhagen! The Glyptotek is absolutely stunning, a perfect blend of art, history, and architecture. The collection ranges from ancient sculptures to impressionist masterpieces, beautifully displayed in serene galleries. The central winter garden is breathtaking, and the overall atmosphere feels peaceful and inspiring. I could easily spend hours here. Truly one of Copenhagen’s cultural gems!

Glyptoteket is, hands down, the most beautiful museum in Copenhagen. The atmosphere inside is incredible – there’s really nothing else like it, especially when you walk through the Winter Garden. It’s such a peaceful and stunning space. The exhibitions are great too, especially if you’re into ancient Greek and Roman culture. That’s definitely my favourite part of the museum. I also really enjoy the Egyptian section, and it’s super cool to go downstairs and see the mummies. They do have other exhibitions with paintings, but that’s not really my thing, so I usually skip those. For me, it’s all about walking around and admiring the statues
Anne L — Google review
I think this might be one of my favorite museums I have visited in my life so far. The statues were incredibly moving and beautiful, and the interior of the museum was breathtaking, every corner is designed with such attention to detail. The exhibitions are also very interesting, and I would definitely recommend a visit to anyone coming to Copenhagen. The museum also has a restaurant and bar where you can enjoy a drink or a snack, as well as a shop with unique items if you’d like to take something home. Plan at least 1 to 2 hours for your visit. Unfortunately, we only had 45 minutes since we arrived close to closing time, but it was still worth it!
Arzu A — Google review
One of my favourite museums in the world, absolutely love the range of art and artists. Impressive selection of French artists, if you love sculpture then it is a great place to visit. It’s also a beautiful, well curated environment to boot.

Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is one of Denmark’s most iconic art museums, founded by the Carlsberg brewery’s visionary creator. The museum houses thousands of rare and precious works — from Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome to 19th-century European masterpieces by renowned artists like Rodin, Degas, and Gauguin. A unique highlight is the Winter Garden, a stunning indoor oasis filled with lush greenery and natural light — the perfect place to pause and soak in the timeless atmosphere between the galleries. Good to know: Admission is free on the last Wednesday of each month, so don’t miss the chance to explore this world-class collection at no cost.

Beautiful museum with a wonderful indoor garden/courtyard, ancient Greek and Roman sculptures, and an amazing Ancient Egypt exhibit with real mummies and art from 5,000 years ago. They also have interesting audio to listen to where you can put on headphones and listen to an expert describe more about the art. I listened to the one where an expert on hieroglyphs described what an ancient stele was describing. One of my favorite museums. Good to note if you want to go that buying tickets online is cheaper.

Nyboder is a charming historic district in Copenhagen, Denmark, featuring rows of distinctive yellow and orange houses dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Initially built by Christian IV to house Danish Navy personnel and their families, these homes have retained their exclusive atmosphere over the years. The area is highly sought after, making it difficult to secure a home without connections.
A historic part of the city worth the visit. For a very modic price there is a small house that is preserved and gives you the chance to travel back in time and understand how life was being part of the navy.
Alexandru N — Google review
An interesting area of Copenhagen to have a look at the housing architecture. The houses were all built for military personnel. The jewel in the crown is the folk museum that opens on Sundays between 11am and 2pm. Run by very knowledgeable volunteers it shows what like was like for people in the navy years ago. Very cheap to visit and an absolute must if you like social history.

Nyboder (English: New [small] Houses) is a historic row house district of former Naval barracks in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was planned and first built by Christian IV to accommodate a need for housing for the personnel of the rapidly growing Royal Danish Navy and their families during that time. While the area is still commonly associated with the name of its founder as one of his numerous building projects around Copenhagen, the Nyboder seen today was in fact, except for a single row of houses in Sankt Pauls Gade, built from 1757.

Det Kgl. Bibliotek, also known as The Royal Library or the Black Diamond, is a modern architectural marvel located in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was established in 1648 and is considered one of the largest libraries in the Nordic countries. The library's striking Black Diamond building features a contemporary design with a black marble facade that mirrors the sea.
This is much more than a library. This black granite building made of Zimbabwean granite is a huge center of books, conference center, art and photo exhibits, student study rooms, super cafe and gift shop. We took a one hour tour for K120 about $US 20 that included typical admission. We saw the new section, snuck a peek at Queens Hall for concerts and conferences. We viewed the area where the new library joined the old. The two old photographs showed the bridge and small rail car used to move books from the older building to the newer one. The exhibiit of occult practices included original writings, books, tools, medicines, and other items. The gift shop offers an array of books, logs, and library related goodies. The cafe offers an array of savory and sweet delights with several coffee and tea options. Enjoy a high top or accessible height table in the cafe area

This is a wonderful library but not necessarily an attraction site. It is mostly for researchers use. The grand view is fine but limited at you can see it in the photos

The Copenhagen Library is a stunning example of how design can transform a public space. The architecture is sleek, modern, and filled with natural light that floods through large windows, creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Clean lines, open spaces, and thoughtful details make it not just functional but genuinely beautiful. It’s the kind of place where you immediately feel inspired — whether you’re there to read, study, or simply take in the design. The balance of modern aesthetics with cozy, practical spaces makes it one of the coolest libraries I’ve ever visited. A true highlight of the city for architecture and design lovers.
Mikaeel S — Google review
Lovely building with cool melding of old and new architecture. The space is air conditioned making it a nice break from any weather outside. Free to enter and wander around with dedicated spaces for those actually wanting to read or study.

The Royal Library Black Diamond is one of the most surreal and inspiring places I’ve ever been. The atmosphere is absolutely perfect for studying – calm, bright, and so unique that you actually feel like you could sit here and study forever. The architecture is stunning both inside and out, with an amazing mix of modern design and peaceful views of the water. There’s also a cozy café with great options if you need a break, and the toilets are spotless, which makes a huge difference for long study sessions. Everything here feels so well thought-out, from the layout to the light. Honestly, it’s the best study environment I’ve found anywhere in the world.

Reffen - Skøjteøen is a vibrant street food market located on Refshaleoen island in Copenhagen. Spanning over 6000m2, it offers an array of global cuisines from more than 50 start-ups, including Korean, Mexican, Italian, and Danish fare. The venue boasts a picturesque waterfront setting with ample seating for visitors to savor their meals while enjoying panoramic views of the city.
What an amazing place! Visited Copenhagen for the first time with family and had so much fun here. Took the water bus/passenger ferry to the Reffen area. That itself was a fun way of getting there. So many wonderful food and drink choices. We got Thai food, African food, Canadian food and a variety of drinks. People were all so friendly, service was fast and food came out quickly. Everything was flavorful, delicious and priced well relative to quality and size. There was plenty of outdoor and covered seating areas. It poured down raining when we went so being an umbrella if rain is in the forecast. We would definitely come back! Would love to try more places.
Judy S — Google review
We visited Reffen after having lunch at Øens Have and it ended up being such a fun afternoon. Reffen is set right on the waterfront in Refshaleøen and has such a great energy; live music playing, food stalls everywhere and people sitting in deck chairs facing the sun with a wine or beer in hand. The whole place has that relaxed Copenhagen vibe where people just enjoy the moment and take their time. Getting there was easy and part of the experience; we took the ferry to Refshaleøen and from the second we stepped off the boat you could hear music and see the colourful food containers ahead of us. It almost feels like a little creative village made of repurposed shipping containers, art and food. Reffen is open seasonally, mainly from spring to autumn; during summer it opens around late morning and stays open into the evening which is perfect because the atmosphere really comes alive when the sun is out. In the cooler months the hours are limited or closed altogether, so it’s definitely more of a warm-weather experience. There are so many food vendors to choose from and the variety is huge; everything from dumplings, burgers and Mexican food to smoked fish, noodles, desserts and plant-based options. It’s the kind of place where you just wander around, see what catches your eye and go with whatever smells amazing. We loved grabbing something small from one stall, then something else from another and sharing everything. It’s also such a beautiful place to sit by the water and just take it all in. Watching locals and tourists relaxing together with music playing and the harbour right in front of you makes it feel extra special. If you love street food, a fun atmosphere and places that feel a bit more local and laid back, I highly recommend visiting Reffen. It’s the perfect way to spend an afternoon in Copenhagen.

A place with a very positive vibe. Many street food stands from all over the world, plus drinks, teas, coffees, sweets etc. Freshly made food upon order requires a few minutes to wait for, in most popular places. Many places to sit so although it was Saturday we found a table (beer garden) without any trouble. All set in post industrial zone.

Great variety and cozy outdoor vibes – just wish for more fire pits! Reffen is a great spot if you're looking to try different cuisines in one place – there's a huge variety of food from all over the world. The outdoor area has a really nice atmosphere, especially with the wood fire pits that keep you warm on colder days. We really liked that touch – it made the place feel super cozy. The only downside was that it was quite busy, and all the seats near the fire were taken, so we couldn’t find a warm spot to sit. I wish there were more fire pits or heated areas, especially during peak times. Otherwise, it was a great experience, and I’d definitely come back!
Jcy H — Google review
Got lucky with the weather and enjoyed a great day at Reffen sinking a few beers and eating some good food by the firepits. There's plenty of options for food and if the weather isn't playing ball there's a massive indoor area too. The staff are constantly buzzing around topping up the wood in the firepits and there's loads of comfy chairs dotted around. It's a cool place

Walking through Bispebjerg Kirkegård during cherry blossom season is like stepping into a dream. The peaceful stillness of the cemetery is suddenly transformed into a scene straight out of Japan, with rows of pink cherry trees arching gracefully above the pathways. Nyhavn is an absolutely charming place to visit, and one of the highlights of our trip to Copenhagen. With its colorful row houses lining the canal, it truly feels like stepping into a postcard. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxing, making it a wonderful spot to simply stroll and take in the views. The waterfront is lined with plenty of restaurants and cafés, perfect for enjoying a meal or drink while people-watching and soaking up the vibrant surroundings. On sunny days, the place comes alive with energy, and the reflections on the canal make it especially picturesque. If you’re planning to take a canal or river cruise, be mindful of the schedules. Delays of 15–30 minutes are not uncommon, so it’s best to check the timing in advance to avoid waiting around. Nyhavn is also very family-friendly, with open spaces for walking, calm corners for resting, and food options to suit all tastes. Nyhavn is a 17th-century waterfront and a canal district in Copenhagen, Denmark. It stretches from Kongens Nytorv to the Inner Harbour and is lined by brightly coloured early 17th century townhouses, bars and cafe's. Initially Nyhavn was constructed by King Christian V, dug by Danish soldiers and Swedish prisoners of war, and was a gateway from the sea to the old inner city of King's Square, where ships handled cargo and fishermens' catch. It was notorious for beer and sailors. The first bridge across Nyhavn opened in 1874. It was a temporary wooden footbridge. It was replaced by the current bridge in 1912. After World War II, Nyhavn was deserted of ships. In 1977, Nyhavn was inaugurated as a veteran ship and museum harbour by Copenhagen's Lord Mayor Egon Weidekamp. In 1980 Nyhavn quay was pedestrianised. Since then, it became a popular spot for tourists and locals. The northern side of Nyhavn is lined by brightly coloured townhouses built with wood, bricks, and plaster. The oldest house, # 9, dates from 1681. Between 1845 and 1864, even the Danish writer, Hans Christian Andersen lived at # 67, where a memorial plaque now stands. In fact from 1871 to 1875 Andersen lived at Nyhavn # 18, which now has an Andersen-themed souvenir shop. The most attractive part of this area is the multi-coloured houses and constructions, which catches the eye immediately. Even though people look casually happy and satiated, just to be there, it still seems to be like a very busy Hub. I loved it.

Tivolis Koncertsal is a must-visit destination in Copenhagen, offering a wide array of dining options from upscale food stalls to in-park restaurants. The Japanese pagoda hosts pop-ups from renowned restaurants, making it an ideal spot for food enthusiasts. Families with young kids can enjoy Rasmus Klumps Pandekagehus, a whale-shaped cafe serving delicious pancakes.
I saw Wicked It was an amazing non - replica production with an amazing cast 💚 The theater in it self was pretty great! And the scenography was amazing.

A wonderful historic place, with amazing events. There is a garderobe and a bar to get snacks and drinks. The inside aquarium is a huge attraction for children and seniors equally. When buying the tickets it's recommended to avoid the top balcony because few building polls are positioned straight in the middle and minimise the view. It will be nice if Tivoli administration will add a remark about this on their website to be known when people buy their tickets online.
Laura M — Google review
I enjoy the venue more for the location and the excellent shows put in there, than for the facilities themselves. Positives: -The lobby is amazing, owing to the gigantic reef aquarium! You never get bored waiting before shows or during intermission. -Plentiful, clean bathrooms. Negatives: -Leg room on the balcony. Haven't experienced this problem so much when seated on the floor rows.

Beautifully decorated for Halloween. I see they put in a lot of effort for this. Really felt the Halloween vibes. However, it's too expensive. There is entrance fee close to 200dkk, and you need to buy the ride ticket to even ride. Sorry, for broke student like me, I don't have any cash reserves to spend here. But if you are wealthy, and have worked your life off to give your kids a good experience, sure.

An old-school music hall with a Lot of wood, decoration and atmosphere. The chairs are much more comfirtable as they look. Good lively sound. The bonus ist the gigantic aquarium at the entrance. Love it.

Fantastic place. It was great they chose it for the conference I attended however, unfortunately the games were all on hold while Tivoli garden was under huge preparations for the Halloween. There are many restaurants and coffee shops inside yet most were closed during the time I visited. The lecture halls were very clean, convenient seats and its size was quite appropriate. Bathrooms were clean and good except for insufficient tissues and trash cans. Tivli is in the city of Copenhagen and the whole place around it was full of shops, cafes and restaurents along with variety of available transportation services

Great place for entertainment. They show ballet (I saw The Snow Queen) classic music concerts and lots of other things. And the ticket to the show gives you entry into the beautiful park, which at night is usually decorated with beautiful lights.

Copenhagen City Hall, completed in 1905, is a prominent landmark in Denmark located at the heart of the city. Inspired by the town hall in Siena, Italy, it features a richly decorated facade and houses Jens Olsen's World Clock. The building is designed in the National Romantic style using locally sourced materials like brick, wood, and granite. Visitors can take guided tours to explore its ornate architecture and historical significance.
This was so amazing to be standing outside this historic Copenhagen City Hall last month, which was built back in 1905 🇩🇰 Imagine our pleasant surprise for my wife and I when we were able to visit inside on a special occasion, thanks to the World Federation of Chiropractic Congress in Copenhagen. The interior was so beautiful 😍 Felt so privileged knowing that the government still meets regularly here. Thank you for preserving this building so well over the last century! 🙏🏻

Very impressive and beautiful building. It has its old parts. The old elevator was particularly interesting
Mir S — Google review
This is sooo cool building! All the time, we expected that we would meet students with togas and broomsticks. Total Harry Potter vibe. And you can enter so many spaces. That was one of the highlights of our trip.
L D — Google review
One of my favorite places to photograph weddings in Copenhagen. The building has a real sense of grandeur, especially the main hall and the staircase — it gives a classic, elegant feel to the photos. In the warmer months, the garden is a great bonus. There’s a lovely fountain and quiet corners that work beautifully for portraits or just a quick breather for the couple. Also, if you’re interested in the history of the place, they offer free guided tours, which is a nice touch.

One of those few city halls that lets tourists explore evey corner of the building! We had such a good time.

Copenhagen City Hall is a magnificent architectural landmark and a must-visit for anyone interested in history, design, or civic culture. Situated right in the heart of the city, this imposing building stands as a proud symbol of Danish municipal heritage and architectural grandeur. The City Hall is designed in the National Romantic style, heavily influenced by the Italian Renaissance but also rooted in Nordic tradition. Completed in 1905 by architect Martin Nyrop, the building features a distinctive red-brick façade, arched windows, golden accents, and a beautiful gilded statue of Absalon — the legendary founder of Copenhagen — above the main entrance. One of the most impressive features is the tower, soaring 105 meters high — one of the tallest in Copenhagen — and offering sweeping views of the city (when open to visitors). The intricate details of the interior are equally stunning, especially the grand atrium with its arched colonnades, marble floors, and Danish coats of arms. Visitors can also admire the famous Jens Olsen’s World Clock, a marvel of mechanical engineering and astronomical precision that draws enthusiasts from around the world. Even if you don't take a tour, the exterior alone is well worth admiring. The building fits beautifully into the historic cityscape, standing proudly on Rådhuspladsen (City Hall Square), where locals gather for public celebrations, events, and even political rallies.
Dmitry Z — Google review
A beautiful historic building in the heart of Copenhagen. The architecture is impressive, both inside and out, with intricate details and a grand main hall. The highlight is the tower, which offers great views of the city, though the climb is quite steep. We skipped the guided tour and there’s really not much to explore on your own. Still definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re interested in architecture or want a unique city view!
İsidora — Google review
It’s right in the city centre and free to check out. Pretty cool place—lots of people do wedding photo shoots there. The library was nice, but the real highlight for me was the clock on the ground floor. Don’t miss it. It was made by Jens Olsen and it’s not just a regular clock. It shows time, solar and lunar eclipses, positions of the planets, and has a perpetual calendar—kind of like the ancient Antikythera mechanism. The whole thing has over 15,000 parts. One gear turns every 10 seconds, and the slowest one only once every 25,753 years. And it only needs to be wound once a week. Crazy engineering.

The Copenhagen Opera House is a futuristic landmark located on the harborfront, housing an international opera company and featuring a 1400-seat main auditorium. Despite some criticism about its architectural fit with the surroundings, it remains an iconic attraction in the Danish capital. The venue hosts a diverse range of top-rated performances on its main and second stages. Additionally, visitors can enjoy dining at Restaurant Kost& Mask, which offers a changing selection of delectable dishes with an emphasis on both taste and vitality.
Visiting the opera house was an incredible experience. We took the backstage tour and got a fascinating look into how everything operates behind the scenes. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, sharing detailed insights about the building’s history, architecture, and inner workings. Highly recommended for anyone interested in theatre and the arts! The opera house park cafe is also worth the visit but reservations are recommended.
Jawahar A — Google review
We booked the guided tour of the Opera House, and it was well worth it. Our guide was excellent — full of insightful commentary, tasteful humor, and fascinating royal anecdotes. As an architecture student, I found the visit particularly enriching — not only for its perspective on Danish architecture, but also for its glimpse into the unique spatial logic of opera houses. I would have loved to see the main hall from the stage perspective, but it was understandable — the scenography team was busy preparing for the next performance. A memorable and thoughtful tour overall.
Gustav L — Google review
Visited the Opera Park that has great plantings of trees bushes and plants for year round interest. Stone paths beckon side trips over knolls of green. The gorgeous marble opera house is the backdrop scenery. Knock on the Italian marble panels to hear the unique tone of each!
Courtney P — Google review
Architecturally stunning both inside and out, this place has several theatres in one. In fact the backstage is larger than the stage so it can provide space for several performances to occur simultaneously. We had seats near the back in the orchestra section for the ballet, The Great Gatsby. It was a fabulous performance with good acoustics. Pro tip: get there early enough for the behind the scenes tour.

We went there to see the premiere of West Side Story. It was a unique experience. The Opera house in Copenhagen is a modern building with high tech stage features and fantastic acoustics. The seating layout is such that everyone has a good view and can enjoy the performance. Outside the opera hall, the building is spacious with free vestibule, plenty of restrooms and seating space to have a drink before the performance or during the break. Good to know is that you can preorder drinks for your group to be ready by the break. These will be waiting for you with a little namecard when the first half of the performance is finished so you don’t have to queue up.

Copenhagen Central Station is a bustling hub located near the famous Tivoli Gardens and Hotel Nebo. The station offers easy access to various attractions such as the City Hall, Planetarium, and Stroget shopping street. Inside, you'll find a rustic interior with a good selection of shops and concession stands. Staff are known for being extremely helpful, making it easy to navigate through the station and purchase items like the Rejsekort travel card from DSB Train Tickets & Service office.
With National Romantic and Historicist styles, the Copenhagen Central Station was designed by famous Danish architect Heinrich Wenck, known for the numerous railway stations he designed as chief architect for the Danish State Railways from 1894 to 1921. The station building opened in 1911 and has seven platforms and 13 tracks. It is a continuation of the first station in Copenhagen, which opened in 1847

Copenhagen Central Station History & Architecture The current station, opened on 1 December 1911, was designed by architect Heinrich Wenck in the National Romantic style, featuring red brick, sandstone, timber, an iconic clock tower (~43 m high), and a grand concourse with vaulted ceilings and large windows . It is the third station on this site—the first opened in 1847 and the second in 1864—but current building remains prominent today . Originally arrivals and departures were separated; this division was first bridged in 1934 and entirely removed in the 1980s, including removal of the original baggage island and chandeliers (only two remain) . Layout & Services The station has 7 platforms and 13 tracks. Six island platforms serve InterCity/regional/international trains (tracks 1–8) and commuter S-trains (tracks 9–12). A separate track 26 (and future track 27) lies ~200 m south for Swedish connections . An underground Metro station (lines M3 & M4) is directly connected, while S-train platforms are partially below street level under Tietgensgade . Train operators: DSB (national), SJ (Swedish high-speed), and Øresundståg regional services to Sweden, plus routes to Hamburg and beyond . Facilities & Amenities The Hovedbanens Shoppingcenter—in the restored column hall—hosts over 30 shops and fast-food outlets including 7-Eleven, Espresso House, Joe & The Juice, Sunset Boulevard, supermarket, pharmacy, and currency exchange . The station also offers: ticket offices, lost & found, post office, luggage lockers, baby-changing rooms, restrooms and showers, travel assistance services, and tourist information . Accessibility: elevators, escalators, ramps, and assistance services for passengers with reduced mobility . Connections & Location Located between Indre By and Vesterbro, directly across Tivoli Gardens, with entrances on Banegårdspladsen, Bernstorffsgade, Reventlowsgade, and platform access at Tietgensgade/Tietgensbroen . Regular bus routes (A‑buses, S‑buses, N‑night buses) serve the area, along with a taxi rank and nearby bike rental/docking stations . Hotel Astoria, an architecturally notable functionalist building evoking a steam locomotive, sits above the station’s northern end near the Reventlowsgade entrance . Ongoing Modernisation In a 2025 initiative led by Artelia and Gottlieb Paludan Architects, historic entrances (like Reventlowsgade staircase) have been restored and renovated for improved safety and accessibility. From 2026, a larger station hall transformation will reorganize retail and travel spaces to enhance passenger flow while preserving heritage features . Quick Facts Feature Details Opened December 1, 1911 (current building) Architect Heinrich Wenck (1851–1936) Platforms & Tracks 7 platforms, 13 tracks (including track 26 south) Daily passengers Over 100,000 – second only to Nørreport when counted by all modes Connectivity DSB, InterCity, regional, Øresundståg (Sweden/Europe), S‑train, Metro Major facilities Shops, restaurants, travel services, lockers, restrooms, showers Accessibility features Elevators, ramps, signage, assistance services Modernisation timeline Renovations in 2024–2026 to improve flow and preserve historic structure In Summary Copenhagen Central Station is more than a transport hub—it's a dazzling blend of heritage architecture, retail vitality, and efficient modern transit. Whether you're arriving by train, heading to the airport, grabbing coffee, or just meeting under the clock (“Under Uret”), it's a central slice of Copenhagen’s charm and connectivity.

Saeid A — Google review
Easy to find your trains. Lots of automats to buy tickets. Located very well in central of Copenhagen.
C ( — Google review
Honestly, the station looks nice and is super central, so it’s really convenient for getting around Copenhagen. But… I wasn’t blown away by the vibe inside. It felt a bit hectic and kind of crowded, nothing too special. Still, it gets the job done if you need to catch a train or grab something quick nearby. Definitely better for a quick stop than a place to hang out.

Gasoline Grill is a unique burger joint located at a petrol station, offering an unexpected twist on the drive-in experience. Known for serving some of the world's best burgers, it offers reasonably priced combos that include a burger, fries, and a carbonated or alcoholic drink. The famous cheeseburger is made with fresh ground organic beef and served in a potato bun with cheddar, raw onion, pickles, and their signature mayo sauce.
You need to come to the original location of Gasoline Grill in Copenhagen to instantly understand where their name comes from. They serve burgers in the former shop of a downtown gas station near Nyhavn and Kongens Nytorv. Interestingly, the place is still a functioning gas station to this day. You can fill up your car, or charge it, while waiting for your burger. The gas station is fully automatic though, no need for a cashier. That’s how the famous gas station burger occupied the former shop area and is serving probably the best burger in Copenhagen. There is a limited menu in Gasoline Grill, but I think that’s just how a great street food burger place should operate. We tasted the two most iconic ones, original burger and cheeseburger, and prefer the latter.
Balázs S — Google review
A solid North American–style burger in a fun Copenhagen setting I had been looking forward to trying this place after seeing a video on YouTube. I love the whole concept behind the Gas Station burger joint — a stylish nod to North American burger culture — and they definitely nail the vibe. As a North American myself, surrounded by some of the best burgers in the world back home, it’s always a fun experience to try the European take on a “classic” burger. But I’ll be honest: most of the time, it ends up feeling like a much more expensive version of a budget comfort food I already have access to regularly. That said — this one was a standout. If you’ve never had a proper North American–style burger and you’re in Copenhagen, this is a fantastic place to start. I had a soft, fresh buttered brioche bun, sharp orange cheddar, a classic burger sauce (think Big Mac style), sweet pickles, and a perfectly grilled, pink, juicy patty. Super well-balanced and satisfying. Final thoughts: Is it a revelation for someone from the U.S. or Canada? Probably not. But it’s a damn good version of a familiar classic, done with care and quality ingredients. If you’re craving a legit burger in Copenhagen, this place will definitely hit the spot.

Best burgers in Copenhagen is an understatement. The line at this one was quite long but service was quick and efficient. Some seating outside. Butter burger was really good, as was the cheeseburger and vinegar fries. Lemonade not amazing but refreshing. Price quite high but worth it.

Probably one of the best burgers you can ever have! The line was long but moved fast. There’s a bit of outdoor seating. The butter burger and cheeseburger were both great, and the fries were really good too. The lemonade was refreshing. A bit pricey, but worth it.
Mir A — Google review
Definitely worth the 30-minute wait for a simple yet outstanding burger. The juicy, flavorful meat really stood out. Seating is limited, but there’s something fun about grabbing a burger from a gas station and eating it on the spot. A must-try when in Copenhagen!
Batuhan A — Google review
Great burger! Fresh ingredients. I asked for a burger with lettuce only for my young boy. They messed it up by putting all ingredients and giving us extra lettuce on the side. My son still ate it! Told me it was delicious!
Constantinos K — Google review
Their hamburgers are very delicious, made with high-quality meat. The fries are also very tasty, and the drinks are good too. It's no surprise it sells so well. In the evenings, there's a very long line of people, and you have to wait for an hour, but it's delicious and worth the wait. The restaurant only has one or two tables for dining in.

The King's Garden, also known as the Rosenberg Garden, is a historic parkland and garden complex established in the 17th century. It features tree-lined paths, pavilions, and several iconic attractions such as The Little Mermaid Statue. This free-to-visit green space is located in the heart of Copenhagen and offers a serene escape from the bustling city center.
The King’s Garden in Copenhagen is absolutely beautiful and one of the highlights of the city. The gardens are perfectly kept, with colorful flowerbeds, wide lawns, and tree-lined paths that make it a wonderful place to walk, relax, or have a picnic. You also get a great view of Rosenborg Castle, which adds even more charm to the atmosphere. It feels both historic and peaceful at the same time. In the summer, the garden is lively with families, friends, and events, yet there are always quiet corners where you can sit and enjoy the surroundings. Truly a must-visit spot when in Copenhagen!

You get a great view of the castle from the garden and can click some lovely photos 📸. Note — there’s no direct entry from Rosenborg Castle, the garden has a separate entrance outside. A peaceful and must-visit spot in the city 🇩🇰.

We absolutely loved visiting Kongens Have (also known as the King’s Garden) in Copenhagen; we could easily have spent the whole day there if we hadn’t had other plans. It is stunning, quiet, beautifully maintained and full of charm. We visited in early September, and the temperature was still warm so it was so lovely to meander through the grounds and then lie under a big tree on the grass, looking up at the sky and letting time slow down. The garden first opened in the early 1600s (established around 1606) and is one of Copenhagen’s oldest and most beloved public parks. Within its bounds you’ll see the old royal palace (we spotted the castle exterior that day, though we didn’t go inside), beautiful statues, flowerbeds, leafy lawns, old trees and plenty of shady spots offering respite from the sun. The scale of the garden is impressive! It feels massive, open, friendly and surprisingly peaceful even though it’s still in the heart of the city. We found it incredibly romantic; the kind of place perfect for a stroll, a picnic and an afternoon just watching the world go by. The shady benches, the open lawns, the mix of people relaxing and families playing was so lovely to see. We found a spot under a large tree, laid out on the grass and just looked up at the sky, breathing in the calm. The garden is free to enter and open daily; typically it opens early in the morning and closes after sunset (hours vary by season). During the summer months the park stays open quite late, often until 10pm or later when daylight allows. In winter the closing time is earlier. Because we visited in September, we had plenty of daylight and didn’t feel rushed at all. If you are visiting Copenhagen, I highly recommend taking time to wander through Kongens Have. It’s peaceful, gorgeous, accessible and a perfect place for a little escape in the city.

The King's Garden (Kongens Have) is a must-visit in Copenhagen! Dating back to 1606, it blends royal history with peaceful gree spaces. Stroll past statues, fountains, and colorful flowerbeds, relax near the Hercules Pavilion, or enjoy a sunny picnic. Open daily with free entry, it's perfect for both history lovers and anyone seeking calm in the heart of the city

The King’s Garden just next to the hotel was a great place to hang out. As it was a sunny day, it was a nice place to walk and soak in the sunshine. To end off the evening, we got some biscuits from Netto for our breakfast tomorrow as well as some chips for our little picnic at the King’s Garden in the evening. The sun was to set about 9pm this evening so we had plenty of sun in the gardens which we enjoyed... For the full details of our 5 months Round the World (RTW) travels, visit 2bearbear today!

Cracking garden this, lovely grounds, nice wide pavements and big open spaces to have fun in the middle of the city. The planted areas are looking a bit worse for wear, it being autumn, but there still showing signs of being tenderly cared for. I can only imagine how good it looks in summer. There are fun statues around the park as well, a walk around it whilst killing time before you go to the airport is well recommended.

St. Alban's Church, also known as the English Church, is a traditional Anglican church in Copenhagen that was consecrated in 1887. Designed by Arthur Blomfield in a distinct British Gothic Revival style, it features a beautiful tower with 15 bells and influences of Victorian architecture. The church has been serving the British-Anglican community in Copenhagen since its construction and remains one of the few churches offering services in English today.
St. Alban's Church is a truly beautiful and serene spot, nestled right between the Kastellet and the Gefion Fountain. With its striking English Gothic architecture and peaceful setting by the water, it feels like stepping into a little fairytale corner of the city. The surrounding area is just as lovely — green lawns, swans gliding on the lake, and views of the fortress and harbor. It’s a perfect stop on any Copenhagen walk. Highly recommend for architecture lovers, photographers, or anyone in need of a tranquil moment. Just wish the visiting hours were longer to go inside!

Impressive building and fitting that it is an Anglican Church because one can picture it somewhere in the UK. The only trouble is that it is closed to visitors for half the year, which is a real shame because there would probably be a lot to see inside such a huge structure.

Amager Beachpark is a top destination in Copenhagen for long summer days and bright evenings. It boasts over 4km of sandy man-made beach, a lagoon with shallow bathing areas for children, and land and water sports facilities. The park also features a 2-km-long artificial island forming the lagoon, offering stunning views of the Oresund Bridge and the Middelgrunden Wind Turbine Farm.
one of the best places in Copenhagen to relax, enjoy nature, and spend time by the sea. The combination of clean white sand, clear water, and modern facilities makes it a perfect spot for both locals and tourists. The park is spacious, with areas for swimming, sunbathing, walking, and even biking along the long coastal path. Whether you’re into paddleboarding, playing beach volleyball, or just watching the sunset over the Øresund, there’s something for everyone. The artificial island adds a unique touch, creating calm lagoons that are safe for children and perfect for a peaceful swim. On summer days, the atmosphere is lively and friendly, and the water is surprisingly nice for a dip. It’s also well-connected by metro and bike paths, making it easy to get there from the city center. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a clean, accessible, and scenic beach experience in Copenhagen!

Amager Strandpark is one of the cleanest and best-designed urban beach parks I’ve visited. Everything feels modern, well-kept, and thoughtfully laid out. The walking and cycling paths are smooth and wide, the facilities are spotless, and the entire area feels very safe and orderly — a real credit to Copenhagen’s urban planning! While the water is exceptionally clean and clear, it’s worth noting that it’s often too cold for swimming, even in summer, unless you're especially brave or used to Nordic waters. That said, it’s still wonderful to be near: the sea air is fresh, the views are calming, and the setting is perfect for a long walk or relaxed afternoon by the shore. The man-made island with its grassy dunes, combined with the city skyline in the distance, creates a beautiful contrast between nature and urban life. Whether you're out for exercise, reflection, or just enjoying the open space, Amager Strandpark offers a peaceful coastal escape within minutes of central Copenhagen.

A fantastic beach with plenty of facilities. Two big supermarkets in front of the beach, a pizza restaurant, fruit sellers, public toilets, everything you need. Then the clean sand along the shore, cold but calm water that keeps you at the shore, no currents. Safe fenced swimming area for children, long day with plenty sunlights under the blue blue sky. It was a perfect lazy Saturday chilling at the beach. We had a few dips and a good break from work. A perfect weekend getaway spot. Definitely recommend!

Amager Beach Park is a hidden gem just outside the city—clean, spacious, and beautifully maintained. The views are absolutely stunning, with the Øresund Bridge and offshore windmills creating a dramatic skyline, especially at sunset and sunrise. Whether you’re into swimming, running, walking, or just loitering peacefully by the sea, this place delivers. There’s a nice café for a coffee break, and also for having ice cream. There is plenty of parking, and wide paths for biking or jogging. You can easily spend hours here soaking in the calm atmosphere and scenic beauty.

I like the colors of the beach, gentle and soft, classic nordic vibe, or even put it to the best. I went there in summer time, weekdays, cloudy days, that is saying there were minimum people. If you ask me what heaven should be like, I would visualize with this beach in mind :)

Amager Beach Park , a peaceful escape just minutes from central Copenhagen. With clean water, long walking paths, and wide open views, it’s perfect for swimming, biking, or simply relaxing. The beach is well-maintained, though a bit windy, and the water can be cold even in summer. It’s popular with locals, especially on sunny weekends, so expect some crowds. Facilities are decent, and there’s space for sports, picnics, or quiet walks. While not a must-see for tourists, it’s a great place to unwind and enjoy the Danish outdoors. Ideal for families, joggers, or anyone needing a break from the city. And most importantly, you can see plain landing in every 2 minutes on average 🙂‍↔️

Best beach in Copenhagen. It’s spacious and easy to get around on the boardwalk swirling through the small sand dunes where you can hide in. The water quality is nice and there’s even good areas with seaweed good for snorkeling (and diving?). There’s both sandy, grassy and concrete spots to rest to enjoy the beach around. Plenty toilet facilities along the beach and both a lagoon and the beach of the ocean. There’s also both surf rental, ice cream and food options there.
C. D — Google review
Long Beach, you need to cross the bridge after metro. Also, it is a good spot to bike! Definitely try in a less windy day to enjoy amazing Copenhagen summer. Full of seagulls, salty water smell and soft sand… Summer vibe is here! Also, there is an ice cream counter just right after the bridge which was not open but in a sunny day, it is an amazing spot! Also, there is an area for beach volleyball. Good beach for swimming, walking and biking!

The Danish Architecture Centre (DAC) is a prominent cultural institution dedicated to showcasing architecture and design through exhibitions, seminars, and conference spaces. Located in the innovative BLOX building on Copenhagen's waterfront, DAC stands as a testament to modern architectural brilliance. Designed by the renowned firm OMA, the center's exterior features a striking combination of glass and steel, resembling stacked blocks that accommodate offices, residences, and public areas.
Just go to the cafe at the top. The cakes were on a different level to everything available in Copenhagen (a big surprise) from the exquisite to the devine. A perfect match for our palate, long flavoursome and fruity. Splash the cash here and you will not be diasppointed. Under 18s go in free. One of only a few public spaces with good washroom facilities for the not so able, and they were immaculate, well done.

It is a nice place if you really enjoy the historic origin of products and design and the designer themselves. They have lots of information on the design and the product displayed. Was hoping to get the audio version so we don’t have to spend a lot of time reading, however, the audio set were all out… Love the slide at the end and some interactive spots for pictures

Really fascinating exhibits here. There’s a really great exhibit on danish, design and architecture (permanent) and a very thought-provoking one on building materials for the 21st-century, that are more biologically inclusive to all creatures. Plus a fun slide, and a rooftop café with great views!

Such a cool place to visit if you’re into design and architecture. Sadly the second floor was closed during my visit. It’s still fun to be here even if you don’t know much about design because at least you can take a slider down from the third floor to the ground floor!

Amaliehaven - The Garden of Amalie In spring, Amaliehaven turns into a living painting. Every week, different trees and flowers come to life - first the magnolias, then the cherry blossoms, then the lilacs. That's why it's worth visiting this garden often, once a week, to see how it slowly changes, as if nature is breathing. The garden is named after Queen Amalie, the wife of King Frederik VI. She loved peace and beauty, and this little park by the royal palace still keeps that gentle spirit.
Tetiana B — Google review
A lovely, lovely beautiful place to breath fresh air after you cross the concrete and stone palace and church. The fountain makes it so much better. After crossing the fountain there is a small garden on the left. Garden has so many different kinds of shrubs and flowers. There is also a nice water cooler or a bubbler. Enjoy the time here. Take it all in, relax. You can also walk to the steps next to the water way and observe the Operaen from across .

The best part of Amaliehaven is the fountain and view. The water soundscape is cooling, peaceful and mesmerizing while the greenery is very strictly designed. Theres nothing voluptuous, magical or charming. No curves, just straight strict alleys and lines and a very composed, Nordic garden.

Palads Teatret, also known as Palads, is a historic cinema located on Axeltorv street in Vesterbro, Copenhagen. The building's flamboyant pastel-colored facade of pink, purple, green and blue has made it a popular spot for Instagrammers and photography enthusiasts. Operated by Nordisk Film, Palads boasts 17 auditoriums offering a wide selection of films - the largest theater alone seats 689 people.
My hotel did not allow me extend my stay since they were fully booked. I walked around until I found the movies theater and I watched a very nice movie while waiting to leave for the airport. I was the only person in that movie but I loved it. Got popcorns and water. The water was very expensive. Much more than it's sold at the airport although the bottle is slightly bigger I'd say.

Beautiful teater perfect location and lovely interior The cinema salon was okay, big enough and clean, staff was kind There is small area for kids to play
Seyda G — Google review
The overall experience makes it hard to believe that it is the same Nordic cinema. In comparison to Høje Taastrup's, the one in Palads needs an upgrade. The seats are spring-loaded and quite uncomfortable, some of the cinema halls' layouts are quite interesting. It's an okay place to watch a movie, but if you'd like full comfort, I would either make sure they have more comfortable halls or choose another location.

We went for an English movie in screen 16. The movie was not projected on the entire screen. Not a good experience. Update: We went for an animation movie in Screen 1. We booked row 10. It was very big screen. The view was not that great from 10 especially for kids. View from row 14 was good. Very small popcorn for kids is available. That's good choice.

Such a beautiful looking building - externally it has a real retro vibe. Internally, the foyer is stunning, but definitely looks a lot more slicker and modern than it’s facade. Torvehallerne is an absolute must visit when you’re in Copenhagen; it sits in a trendy part of the city with great shopping and cafés nearby, and the atmosphere is lively and full of energy. The market is both indoor and outdoor with two large glass halls and over 60 food vendors and stalls to explore. You’ll find everything here: fresh produce, pastries, seafood, cheeses, flowers, specialty chocolates, wine, spices and amazing international street food alongside classic Danish favourites. We visited twice during our stay in early September because we loved it so much. The food and flowers are incredibly fresh and it’s a great spot to grab a snack, lunch or even just a coffee break. There are also some really gorgeous little gift shops where you can pick up local chocolates, condiments or small treats to take home. The market is very central and right next to Nørreport Station which makes it super easy to get to by metro or train; it’s also close to other well known city landmarks and attractions, so you can easily combine it with other sightseeing. It felt very accessible and from what we saw, wheelchair access seemed available throughout the main areas. Toilets are located inside, which is always helpful to know as a tourist. Torvehallerne is open daily; generally opening around mid morning and closing early evening, with slightly shorter hours on Sundays. The vibe changes through the day; mornings feel calm while afternoons get a little busier We could have spent longer here; eating, browsing and people watching. If you love great food, local finds and vibrant markets, I highly recommend visiting.

The Thorvaldsens Museum is a canalside museum in Copenhagen, built around the burial place of neoclassical sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. The museum showcases the work and personal collection of the legendary sculptor, who gained international fame in the early 19th century. Inspired by excavations of Pompeii and Herculaneum, the ornate setting holds his sculptures and artifacts.
I didn’t know what to expect with this museum but it was a good surprise. It is an art museum about the sculptor Berthel Thorvaldsens and his sculptures which are amazing. The museum is large with two floors and many galleries with sculptures and paintings. It’s a must do if you like art and architecture in my opinion.
Melanie M — Google review
Yes, the sculpture is cool—but the real star of Thorvaldsens Museum is the building itself. The architecture and interior finishes are absolutely stunning. From the bold, unexpected paint colors to the intricate mosaic floors and rich murals, every detail feels intentional and iconic. It’s a visual feast and genuinely inspiring. I was also unexpectedly impressed by the permanent archaeological collections—especially the cameo collection, which is the most diverse and beautiful I’ve ever seen. Not just classical portraits of women, but also plants, animals, insects, and a range of stone and shell materials. It’s a thoughtful and unique display that goes beyond the expected. A beautiful way to spend 1–2 hours—and even better, Wednesdays are free!
Anna H — Google review
I had longed to see the works of Thorvaldsen and the museum building itself is a masterpiece. I spent two hours and I think it's right. So unfortunate that in the app of the museum and behind the QR codes there were only Danish comments. At least the three I tried, after that I gave up. That would be a lot better to have the works' explanations also in English. Other than that I really enjoyed the stay!

Free (within 48 hrs) if you go to the Nikolaj Kunsthal and/or Museum of Copenhagen! If you need to purchase tickets at the counter, there was no wait. Time well spent!
Nash — Google review
Free admission on Wednesdays. Good architecture and sculptures. They also blend in temporary exhibition among their permanent collection.
L C — Google review
This museum is a perfect combination of art- but not just the art inside, but the building itself. Inside and out, it is an exhibition with equal level to the statues and exhibits inside. The ceilings especially, with no room the same, are bursting with colorful designs and patterns. Combine this with the floors, which are beautiful mosaics, you get an incredible atmosphere. Moving on from the building itself, the statues are all incredible. With an enormous array of art, it is hard to find something you don't like. Given, some are better than others (obviously), but I can assure you that you'll be able to learn a lot and see a lot walking around the building. Another thing to note is the personal collection of artifacts and books of the artist. It is filled with Greek and Roman pottery, coins, century-old books, and much more. This covers three or four rooms, and this is just as fascinating as the rest.

Grundtvig’s Church is a remarkable architectural gem located in the Bispebjerg district of Copenhagen. Designed by architect Peder Vilhelm Jensen-Klint, this church boasts an Expressionist-style exterior and a Gothic-style interior that can accommodate up to 1800 people. The towering brick structure resembles a cross between a gigantic pipe organ and a German Expressionist movie set. Construction began in 1921 and was completed in 1940 as a memorial to hymn writer N.F.S.
Grundtvig’s Church is absolutely awe-inspiring — a true architectural masterpiece. The moment you step inside, you’re struck by the soaring ceilings, serene atmosphere, and the natural light that floods the vast space. It’s a perfect blend of simplicity and grandeur, with its unique expressionist Gothic design unlike anything else in the city. The symmetry, silence, and scale make it a deeply moving experience, even if you’re not religious. If you’re visiting Copenhagen, this is a must-see — peaceful, majestic, and unforgettable.

What a beautiful place. We stopped here as our final stop on the drive back into Copenhagen, after visiting Louisiana and Ordrupgaard — and it was absolutely worth it. Entrance was free, it wasn’t crowded (we came in late May, around 4pm), and parking nearby was super easy. I’d highly recommend it to any architecture enthusiast — a peaceful, inspiring visit off the usual tourist path.

Entry to this church is free, so there’s no need to buy tickets. It’s a truly breathtaking place, the interior is calming and beautifully designed. Every corner reveals a new perspective, especially as the sunlight filters through. We recommend taking a seat and simply enjoying the peaceful atmosphere for 15–20 minutes, without your phone. Just be present. And don’t skip the restroom, it’s surprisingly nice too!

One of the most beautiful churches in Copenhagen in my opinion. The architecture is amazing, build with yellow bricks entirely. Facade and the interior felt a bit gothic. Chairs with natural fiber weaving, add warmness to the cold feeling interior. You’ll love this place if you like photography.

One of my bucketlist checked! One of the most beautiful church I've ever seen. The interior and the lighting is out of this world. It's surreal and looks like a painting. It's a very grand religious architecture. What makes it interesting is the design of the building's square and corners. It uses many technical aspects, including craftsmanship, mathematics, and of course, architectural principles. This is very striking and beautiful.

Located in Frederiksberg, Denmark, Frederiksberg Palace is an impressive 18th-century Italian Baroque-style palace perched atop Frederiksberg Hill. It offers guided tours of the former royal apartments and boasts panoramic views of Frederiksberg Gardens and large parts of Copenhagen. The palace was built by Frederick the 4th and is filled with fascinating stories about the royal family over the past few hundred years.
Most perfect place ever! So peaceful for walks and picnics. This is my favorite park in Copenhagen. You can see the elephants some days from the park view of the Frederiksberg Zoo.
Benecia Z — Google review
Frederiksberg Palace, a magnificent Baroque gem, offers a glimpse into Danish history and grandeur. While the opulent interior spaces are not currently accessible due to a fire in 1859, the palace itself and its surrounding gardens are a sight to behold. Highlights: 1. Striking Baroque Architecture: Admire the palace's impressive exterior, designed by Danish architect Ernst Brandenburger and inspired by Italian Baroque style. 2. Beautiful Gardens: Explore the sprawling Frederiksberg Have and Søndermarken gardens, offering a peaceful escape and scenic views. Visit Tips: 1. Combine your visit with a stroll through the charming gardens for a well-rounded experience. 2. Consider joining a guided tour to delve deeper into the palace's history. Overall, Frederiksberg Palace is a must-visit for history buffs and anyone who appreciates beautiful architecture and gardens.

Frederiksberg Palace stands proudly atop a hill overlooking the beautiful Frederiksberg Garden — a quiet yet stately reminder of Denmark’s royal past. Built in the early 1700s for King Frederik IV, the palace was inspired by the Italian and French baroque styles the king admired during his travels through Europe. The architectural symmetry, ochre-yellow façade, and formal layout reflect a monarch eager to project taste, sophistication, and power. Originally intended as a summer residence, the palace was later expanded and became a favored retreat for several Danish monarchs. It also played an important role in royal education: King Christian VII spent time here, and his son, King Frederik VI, was largely raised at the palace. One fascinating episode in the palace’s early history was the visit of Peter the Great of Russia in 1716. On his way to meet his Danish allies during the Great Northern War, Peter visited Copenhagen and was received at Frederiksberg Palace. Known for his curiosity and hands-on interest in architecture and military matters, Peter allegedly climbed up to the palace dome himself, rather than wait for keys, which amused and shocked the Danish court. His visit underscores the international stature of the Danish crown at the time — Frederiksberg was not merely a royal summer house, but a diplomatic stage for Europe’s most powerful rulers. Though it no longer houses royals, the palace has retained its aura of quiet dignity. Today it serves as a military academy, yet the interiors (when open to the public on select days) still reflect the opulence of Denmark’s baroque age. Combined with the peaceful gardens below, it’s one of Copenhagen’s most atmospheric and historically rich landmarks.

We tried to go in but gates were closed. Castle ground is nice and well maintained. Walking upto the castle through the park was enjoyable too. There is not much to see from the outside exterior. Very unimpressive. We looked through the gates and inside the middle ground. I think all the charm is inside the castle. Maybe next time.
Tas A — Google review
I only visited the gardens outside the palace. Very nice place for a picnic or getting some sun. Many weddings happening around the park, the newlyweds take pictures by the summer palace of the Royal Family.
Bruce B — Google review
While not normally open to the public, it is very much worth visiting the Officers School for its proud history and the amazing view it offers of Copenhagen if you ever get a chance.
Alexander B — Google review
Really nice castle Doesnt take many hours to see all though.
Scarlet F — Google review
Huge palace and very well maintained.. The palace overlooks Frederiksberg Gardens with waterfalls and rows of linden trees along the palace terrace. Have rich historic background on each architectural planning… it is close to Copenhagen zoo… can have pleasant stroll from city center to have nice time either in early morning or evenings.. find food options in the palace garden could be tough ai better carry enough fluids… highly recommended place to visit if you are in Frederiksberg or Copenhagen

Gardens
Landbohøjskolens Have, also known as the Horticultural Gardens, is a charming and serene park nestled within the city of Frederiksberg. Affiliated with the University of Copenhagen, this hidden gem offers a diverse array of plants and trees, making it an ideal hands-on learning environment for students and a delightful haven for visitors. The park features flower beds, shaded benches, narrow paths, groves, and a picturesque rose garden with both modern and historical roses.
A beautiful, extremely well maintained park! So many small pathways leading always very nicely close to the plants but in a way that makes you feel like you are on an adventure. There was a beautiful array of flowers and plants you don't normally see. There is a good amount of grass space around for the sun worshippers. Lots of bins and benches. Definitely recommend a wander through this garden!
Emily K — Google review
This small park is very well maintained and has a lot of beautiful and interesting flowers, bushes and majestic very old trees. All plants have a name tag with the Latin name as well as the Danish name. The park was very peaceful when I visited and felt like a very nice place to relax. There are many benches in the whole park so you can find a spot that suits your mood and preferences. Definitely worth a visit.
Allan S — Google review
This small park is a gem hidden away in Copenhagen (Frederiksberg). It is being kept but the gardener students of the school that is situated right next to the park. Every plant, tree, bush, etc. has a small sign telling the name of the species. This makes the place feel so serene, because you can really go on a journey and get to know the names of so many things, you might not have known already. The are a bunch of small pathways leading through the trees and bushes, making a walk through the park feel adventurous and magical. It is not allowed to play ball/throw freesbee, listen to music on a speaker, grill, bring dogs or bicycle. This makes the park enormously calm and quiet. So if you wanna go for a peaceful stroll or wanna sun bath (should the sun ever be out 😉) then this is the place to visit. I highly recommend this park! One of my favorite green spots in Copenhagen 💜
René J — Google review
This park is very quiet and nice. It has a pod in the middle surrounded by vegetation that is carefully taken care of. Every time I go there it is even better maintained than the time before and it has always been my "go to" place for peaceful walks while I had my daughters sleeping in the pram. There are benches all around to sit down and enjoy the surroundings and a beautiful rose garden that flourishes in Spring.
Henar L — Google review
Absolutely must to visit when someone is in Copenhagen and wants to experience a beautiful and calm nature environment in the middle of the city. Amazing plants, each of them has a tag on it with the name and its origin. Perfect for a quiet walk, even for picknic.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Opened in 2016, Inderhavnsbroen is a modern bridge with an innovative design that includes a path for pedestrians and bicycles. It's also known as the Kissing Bridge due to its rumored resemblance to two people kissing when viewed from above. The bridge is located in the popular Nyhavn area and connects to Christianshavn and Freetown Christiania, as well as attractions like the Opera House and Reffen food market.
A beautiful view from the top of the bridge of the architecture, ports and canals near Nyhavn! ⭐ Can get super busy during the day.
Karthik S — Google review
Very important bridge in Copenhagen, maybe even the most important one. It’s usually very packed and when it’s opening for a ship to pass, you need some patience.
Florian F — Google review
So called stupid stupid bridge. The railing is too close, so people on bikes can easily collide with it. Then it just has weird corners, both confusing for bikes and pedestrians. If I could give zero stars I would.
Nordin B — Google review
Beautifull bridge for tourists /pesitrian area. Maybe a bit windy but ok. Nice to see...
Prof. L — Google review
The bridge has an appealing design and is easy to use. The west side is undergoing some repairs so there is a slight detour for pedestrian traffic (as of March 2024). Midway across you can pause to take in canal views. The bridge is busy with pedestrians and cyclists, so be mindful of those around you.
Aaron P — Google review
Very nice bridge - for pedestrians and bikes. A lot of city views.
Dan M — Google review
Great view to everywhere around. Beautiful structure. Two different roads, people and bicycles.

Very smart design it’s so enjoyable as well the experience of going through it make it a special bridge!

Seafood restaurant
Restaurant
La Banchina is a Copenhagen seafood restaurant located in Refshaleoen, known for its New Nordic cuisine and use of local, seasonal ingredients. Visitors can start their day with coffee and croissants at La Banchina, followed by a refreshing dip in the ocean. The restaurant offers a unique experience of swimming in the Copenhagen harbor. Additionally, guests can explore nearby attractions such as Lille Bakery, Oens Have urban garden, and Jaegersborggade street for shopping.
Lovely morning here! We got breakfast then did the sauna and then had oysters and wine. For the sauna there’s no shower or anything after but there is a hose to rinse off. One of the most memorable days of our trip. The oysters were amazing! Possibly the largest oysters I’ve ever had. It’s also really nice they have no plastics and sustainable practices.
Caitlin B — Google review
A small little 'restaurant' that everybody chooses to dine outside right in the nature viewing the waterfront. This place is quite popular among the young and students as it is a great place to have meaningful conversations. Food is excellent and so is their service.
Chin M — Google review
La Banchina is one of the most unique spots in Copenhagen — the perfect mix of cozy and vibrant canal-side vibes. Sitting right by the water with a cold beer in hand feels like pure relaxation. The fish burger was excellent: fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly filling. If the weather is warm, you can even take a refreshing dive right into the canal, and for colder days, there’s a sauna that makes the experience extra special. The atmosphere is laid-back, with people lounging by the wooden docks, chatting, and enjoying the sun. Prices are fair for Copenhagen — a great balance between quality and setting. The only thing to keep in mind is the oysters: delicious but pricey, 220 DKK for 6 (about $31–32 USD). Still, the experience makes it worthwhile. Whether you’re looking to relax by the water, grab a tasty bite, or have a drink in a unique setting, La Banchina is absolutely worth a visit!
Guilherme Z — Google review
A really great spot. Went on two cold autumn days across my trip and had a dip and then enjoyed some tea and coffee. The vibes inside are super cozy in the colder months and the swimming area is nice and quiet, although I know in summer it is much more social and packed. A lovely place to reflect and slow down, the staff are very welcoming too.
Hannah B — Google review
This is such a great spot. We went on a sunny Saturday afternoon and still managed to snag a seat. You can order beers, wines and food from the bar and bring them over to enjoy wherever you’re sitting. A great spot for swimming or just chilling by the water with a cool vibe.
Aili S — Google review
Our favourite spot of the trip! Dishes cooked up super fresh with local ingredients, love the indoor and outdoor area, very rustic and right in touch with nature. Everything we had was so good and we would definitely try this place again next time we visit
Queeny Q — Google review
Such a pretty spot on a nice day to hang out on the dock and get good food. Some things you must know before coming: Make a sauna booking 1-2 weeks in advanced Swans poop in the swimming area. Do not put your head underwater There’s no proper bathroom
Julia W — Google review
Spectacular organic fish shack. Seasonal short menu but everything was a star. The fish burger was amazing with oyster mayonnaise and brioche. Also loved the smoked cauliflower. Great organic wines as well.
