Bakery
Wedding bakery
Leonard's Bakery has been a beloved local establishment since 1952, renowned for its malasadas, Portuguese donuts that are slightly crispier and chewier than traditional doughnuts. The bakery's influence extends beyond Hawaii, with franchises in Japan. Visitors can savor these delectable treats at scenic locations on the island during guided tours or simply stop by the bakery to indulge in a variety of flavors, from classic custard-filled to tropical-inspired options.
On our friends’ recommendation, we came here to try the malasadas. We arrived about 10 minutes before closing, but we were still able to buy everything we wanted. My favorite was the original flavor — just sprinkled with sugar — though for me it was a bit too sweet. Still, the dough and the baking itself were quite tasty. The chocolate one was also fine. But the coconut one, and the third flavor we tried (I don’t even remember which), really weren’t to my taste at all. Overall, though, it was interesting to try — it’s a popular and well-known spot. That’s why I’d recommend giving it a try. For me and all my friends, the most original flavor remained the favorite🥰😍
Iryna Y — Google review
Went around 4pm and waited 15-20 minutes. We got one of each flavor. TBH I only liked the cinnamon and custard ones. The other flavors just tasted very very light. They came out warm which was nice but they do not taste good when they’re not warm.
Nicole B — Google review
The best malasadas that you can buy in Hawaii! This is a legendary spot to taste the the best malasadas you'll ever have! It's always crowded. The customer service is great and everything is always hand-delivered fresh to you. When you take a bite it literally melts in your mouth. They have a variety of selections with different feelings you can choose from, or you can get the original with no filling. The choice is yours, they also have cold coffees that are really good. This is a dessert that you must try while you're in Hawaii! World famous Leonard's!
Aaron P — Google review
If you’re looking for fresh Portuguese donuts, this place can’t be beat. Known famously across the islands and in the mainland, Leonard’s serves up fresh hot malasadas to order. They don’t taste as good when they cool down. This location is the closest to the Waikiki area and there is limited parking no seating. There is always a line because they are made to order. It’s worth the wait frankly.
Alan — Google review
Leonard’s Bakery is a must try when you're in Hawai’i! Their special pastry dough is fried to perfection — light and fluffy. . When we first arrived, the crowd was pretty intense, and we thought the wait might take forever, but it turned out to be pretty quick. I was able to order right away since everyone was just waiting for their food. There’s no seating inside—it's mainly a to-go spot. I ordered two malasadas, one with cinnamon sugar and another filled with guava. I also ordered a Portuguese sausage wrap and an iced coffee. It took about 15 minutes for our food, which was pretty fast! My husband and I loved the malasadas and the sausage wrap. The iced coffee wasn't really my favorite, but overall, everything else was great. If you're in Hawai’i, make sure to check them out!
Carmen H — Google review
Amazing, famous malasadas! Despite a line out the door, the service was quick and the food was even better! Our favorite was the original. The custard filled ones were a bit heavy and messy, but tasty nonetheless! Parking is very difficult so recommend either walking, or having someone drop you off to order while you circle around or park elsewhere!
Gina F — Google review
What can I say? The reputation is spot on. It was my 1st visit to Honolulu. The malasadas are truly amazing. They are great anytime but particularly amazing when fresh and warm. This should absolutely be one of your first visits in Honolulu.
Neal C — Google review
Easy to find, however once you see it you better turn in or you'll have to reroute your way back. Parking lot is small, so if you get a parking spot consider yourself lucky. Order inside wait outside, easy flow. The pastry is a Portuguese malasada, and it is absolutely DELICIOUS! I got the cinnamon pastry. I should have ordered more, especially a few cream filled ones. They make to order, be patient, enjoy the weather, it's WORTH it.

This place was great! The pastries were out of this world delicious. My iced vanilla latte was very good. I’m not a “coffee” drinker but I did buy some to take home because the flavors sound amazing. This place is so busy, I arrived at 6:50am and there were already 30 people in front of me. The line did move quickly so don’t let the long line deter your visit.
Tracy W — Google review
Another one of our breakfast choices was this place, mainly because it was close to our hotel. Of course, the large number of positive reviews also caught our attention. The prices seemed a bit higher than in other spots, but let’s set that aside. I had a mushroom sandwich (or something along those lines), and it was fairly tasty, but it didn’t leave much of an impression on me. What really stood out, though, was the coffee — and not in a good way. Honestly, it was terrible. Probably one of the worst coffees I’ve ever had. It was extremely bitter and just not enjoyable at all. Even my iced coffee was bad, and as for the hot coffee my friends ordered — it was awful too. I really don’t recommend ordering coffee here. Overall, I don’t think I would come back.
Iryna Y — Google review
This place has pretty good coffee and pastries however a constant one hour line does NOT make it worth it. Not enough staff to provide service and make it a smooth experience. Definitely worth going to other places for coffee considering this line and service ruins the experience. My 2 year old knows better manners than these passive aggressive baristas. For a hospitality cafe we were really disappointed.
Amanda C — Google review
This is a very popular place for their Black Sesame Kouign Amann. Their coffee is so smooth and good! People wait in line even before this place opens. I always come every time I'm in Oahu and it's highly recommended. Hack: if you're buying a bag of coffee, you can go directly to the register that's near the bagged coffee and select your coffee and also order drinks and pastries.
Sam — Google review
☕️✨ A must-stop in Honolulu! Kona Coffee Purveyors serves up incredible drinks + pastries baked fresh in store 🥐 Black Sesame Latte was so unique & nutty 💯. I loved their drinks Liam’s punch and the honey latte as well!! ✔️ My picks: • 🍫 Chocolate Kouign-Amann • 🍫🍌 Chocolate Banana Croissant • 🧀 Savoury Croissant Line was crazy long at opening time, definitely recommend getting there early
Melzy P — Google review
I visited around 11 AM. The line took about 20 minutes and then a few more for the coffee. Cold brew (small - $6.25) was delicious. It tasted nutty and chocolaty, and very smooth. I also had their coconut and pineapple croissant ($6.25) which was surprisingly good. It was not too sweet but definitely had the pineapple flavour. I'll be coming back!
Claire C — Google review
The iced coffee and the Affogato are spectacular!!!! There is a long line most of the time, but it's not a dramatic wait time. The pasties they sell also look yummy. We went back twice because it was good each time.
Nwoo — Google review
Expect about a 45 minute wait if you get in line backed up to the Hilton grand vacations booth. It took us 47 minutes from getting in line back there to when we got to order. Then another 15 minutes to get the coffee. So about an hour total. The good: The lemon tart was the best I’ve ever had, and the other pastries were really good too. The bad: My wife loves coffee and threw it away after only a few sips, she said she was actually pretty disappointed with it, especially after waiting for an hour for it. Overall, not worth the wait and likely won’t be back since there is always a line.

Bakery
Nanding's Bakery is a Filipino bakery that has been in operation since 2001. It offers a variety of Filipino baked goods such as Spanish rolls, Ube loaf, Pianono Rolls, Cheese mamon, and more. Customers rave about the warm Spanish rolls with butter and the barely sweet and salty breadsticks. The bakery also serves Paul's Custard Pie or Pumpkin Pie as well as other pastries like Ensaymada and adobo roll.
Hot buttery sweet Spanish Rolls, need I say more! You can never just eat one and you need to eat them hot. They give them to you freshly made so before you start the car and drive I would suggest you get a napkin and grub down. They have other pastries and service is quick just parking is very limited I think I saw 4 spots only.
Katherine P — Google review
GET HERE IMMEDIATELY AND GET THESE ROLLS AS FAST AS YOU CAN 😍 I arrived at 2:30 pm and waited 10 minutes to get these babies fresh and warm 🔥 Some of the best bread you’ll have in your life I bet.
Lydia — Google review
Nanding's is a true Filipino bakery! If you want to feel like you are walking into a bakery in the Philippines then drove to Kalihi and go to Nanding's. If you don't speak Tagalog then have some patience be respectful and point at what you want. It is in an area where industry and houses meet. So be aware there are fork trucks driving nearby. Like every here parking is limited.

Delicious and warm Spanish bread! Friendly staff, take out only.
Erika P — Google review
No fuss bakery with nice selection of bakery goods. Their Spanish rolls are divine. So easy to “accidentally” eat half a dozen by yourself in one go. A must try.
Joshua G — Google review
3/7/2022 I was in the area and wanting a blueberry scone so I decided to stop in. Boo! No blueberry scones, only chocolate chip. Oh well, I got 4 ube rolls, an Ensaymada, and an adobo roll for $9.15. Asked about the scallion twists but she said they don't make them anymore. Another boo! Ube rolls were for the hubby so I don't know how they were but the Ensaymada was fresh and delicious. The adobo roll was just okay. Tender pork inside but not a real adobo (vinegary) flavor. Tasted like plain, shredded pork. 2/21/2022 Very few parking spaces in the front but we were lucky to snag a spot today. We were looking to pick up scallion twists because we haven't been able to get them from the Waipahu Nanding's. Unfortunately, the lady said that they didn't have them today. I ended up just getting an Ensaymada and a blueberry scone for around $4 and change. Ensaymada was soft and fluffy as usual! The blueberry scone was delicious as well.
Age — Google review
My favorite place to get Spanish rolls and ensaymadas. Parking is a bit of a problem if they are busy (three stalls). Th box of Spanish rolls had 15 in them. I already ate 3 after being home for a few minutes. 😂Sooooo good. 😋
Bert N — Google review
Oh man, their warm spanish rolls… YUM! you have to stop and get it. Ube rolls is just meh. Just get spanish rolls, period.

Lee's Bakery & Kitchen is a delightful spot nestled in the heart of Chinatown, renowned for its exceptional custard pie. This creamy treat has a perfectly flaky crust that will change your perception of custard pies if you've had bad experiences before. Even if you don't have a special occasion, it's hard to resist picking one up on a whim!
Lucky to go there today without a line! Custard pie is so creamy! Also tried their pineapple bun, and other pastries for my kids, which they'll definitely love. The people there are sooo nice! 🙏
Sandra M — Google review
Still the best custard pie that I’ve ever tasted. It’s sweeter and the texture is like flan. It came right out the oven so it was soooo warm. Staff are friendly and fast. Paid parking in the back on Ala Moana Blvd. It’s better to phone order because they do sell out.
K. T — Google review
4/13/2022 A long time ago, during the holidays, my hubby went to a dinner and brought me home a slice of custard pie. Now, I'm a fan of pie but not custard pie because I've tried many awful ones. He kept telling me to try it, even though he knows I don't like custard pie. I'm sure glad I did. As soon as I took the first bite, I instantly changed my mind about custard pie. Lee's Bakery & Kitchen has THE BEST CUSTARD PIE! It's creamy, not too sweet, and the perfect texture. The crust is flaky and not super thick. Glad that my brother-in-law loves it so much that he's willing to stand in the long holiday line to get it and share with us! Today, was the first time I went to Lee's. Didn't get a custard pie since we already have dessert for this weekend's dinner with my brother-in-law. Instead, I got a Pineapple Bun, a Glazed Donut, a Hong Kong Bun, a Tuna Bun, and a Char Siu Manapua. The Hong Kong Bun was because I asked the friendly lady which item was the most popular or favorite of customers and she suggested that bun. It came out to $8 and change. So far today, I ate the Glazed Donut, part of the Hong Kong Bun, and the Tuna Bun. That Tuna Bun was stuffed with tuna and the bread was so light and fluffy. Yum! The Hong Kong Bun was like a delicious butter roll, and the Glazed Donut was airy and not super sweet. I'm sure the other items will be scrumptious as well. I love Lee's Bakery & Kitchen!
Age — Google review
When getting a custard pie I don’t know of a better place to go. There is also a wide selection of other baked goods as well. Parking isn’t the easiest. But you can call in an order and just run in and pick up if you have some drive around the block.
Topher B — Google review
Chen siu su and the buttered bread here was really good ... very friendly service. The surrounding area isn't great, or maybe just kinda more in your face in Hawaii
David B — Google review
It was so smooth and melted in a mouth. I tasted many custard pies in Honolulu, this is the best one! Crust is thin, but firm enough to hold the pie. Just right sweetness and creamy custard. Number one recommended custard pie for sure. And I recommend to call them to hold it, other than that you will not see it in the store!
Tomomi N — Google review
Lee's bakery is by far absolutely the best place to buy baked goods. They have nothing that isn't phenomenal. You can actually taste the love and effort that they put in every single donut. Plus they are always so polite and welcoming. You couldn't pay me to go anywhere else. Every single baked good that's myself and my picky family of 6 hat hat has been hit.

BRUG Bakery Lanai at Ala Moana, located in the bustling Lanai food court, is a beloved destination for both locals and tourists. Their bread offerings, including fluffy soft raisin bread, Hokkaido anpan with slightly less sweet red bean paste, and mochi bread, are popular and disappear quickly due to their exceptional quality. The bakery also offers delectable sausage rolls that exceed expectations.
This week was an extra rotten week, so to cheer everyone up, Brug was delivered to us by my mom. I love Brug. The Matcha Turtles🐢, Apple 🍎 Cinnamon Custard Danish,Cream Cheese Bomb, Brug curry, Kuma Chocolate Custard and creamy tomato soup are among my favorites when they first opened. Today we had a variety of goodies, each person having their own personal favorites. I don’t know the official name of the baked goods, but i will put a brief description of each one. Very tasty and delicious baked goods offered with pleasant staff. Family Favorite Spot for us! 07/05/2023 My mom bought me a Kaeru (frog) Choco Matcha Melon Pan. It was so adorable!! 😍 Filled with chocolate! If u heat it around 30 seconds it gets nice and melty. I really missed the Kame (turtle) Matcha Melon Pan so i was so happy to get one of these! 09/13/2023 My mom grabbed me a hot dog, curry pan, Ichigo Neko (Strawberry Cat) and a New Limited item I never tried before. She can’t remember the entire name but said it was a pineapple cream. It was so delicious!!! A adorable pineapple shaped pan with chunks of pineapple, cream and shredded coconut!! Yum! Grab one while u still can! 12/01/2024 Pictures updated!

Absolutely divine! BRUG Bakery’s daily fresh-baked goods, made with premium Hokkaido Mainz flour and no artificial preservatives, coloring or other additives (thank you!!), are pure perfection—soft, fluffy, and bursting with flavor. Standouts include the Blueberry & Cream Cheese Mini Loaf, Cranberry Fromage, Mango Custard Hermit Crab (so cute and dipped in white chocolate!), and the pillowy Piggy Pan with teriyaki pork belly char siu. Every visit is a culinary adventure, with endless shelves of artfully crafted treats that make choosing nearly impossible. Hands-down, O’ahu’s finest bakery—thank you, BRUG, for bringing your magic here!

I came for the 11 yr anniversary sale. I tried the mini pizzas the croisants and the sausage rolls and the chocolate covered croisants. I also tried both donuts. I brought all of the items home to Minnesota, everything stayed fresh the sale was fun I will come back again looking forward to trying the little bear pastries. Everyone was so polite. The line was long but moved very fast and was worth it.

They have lots of nice bakery items here. Plenty of choices to pick from. They bake their stuff fresh and tasted great.

Nestled within the bustling Lanai food court at the Ala Moana Center, this bakery has firmly established itself as a beloved destination for both locals and tourists alike. It's no surprise that their bread offerings disappear in the blink of an eye as soon as they're set out, a testament to their exceptional quality and popularity. During my visit, I had the pleasure of savoring their delectable sausage rolls, and I must say they exceeded my expectations. The perfect blend of flaky pastry and savory sausage filling made for a delightful snack. However, the star of the show was undoubtedly their Kona coffee pudding – a culinary masterpiece. Its rich, coffee-infused flavor left a lasting impression, and it's a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth. Beyond the sumptuous treats, this bakery is strategically positioned for travelers. Grabbing some of their freshly baked and delicious bread before heading to the airport is a brilliant idea. It ensures a tasty in-flight meal that you can savor even after your departure. In essence, this bakery is a hidden gem in the heart of Ala Moana, offering a taste of paradise that's not to be missed.

Clean and inviting. All the pastries lure you into a soft and fresh taste of heaven. We have been in Hawaii for six days and there has not been one bad pastry in all of our selections. This is a must to visit right outside of Macy’s in the food court.

I like a place that has savory pastries. They have this delicious sausage roll and other good stuff. The black sesame mochi donut was also slicks. It's a bit softer and chewier than what I'm used to, but I like it. They have tons of other items to try out.

Wallflour Bake Shop is a delightful gem that keeps your taste buds on their toes with an ever-evolving menu of pastries and breads. Run by the talented bakers Ellen Stavro and Javier Flores, this bakery showcases a commitment to precision in flavor and texture, honed from their fine dining backgrounds.
Wall Flour Bake Shop in Honolulu offers a great mix of creative and comforting pastries. I tried the Cream Cheese Guava Danish, Chocolate Hazelnut Swirl, and Sweet Potato Casserole Pastry, and here’s the scoop: • Cream Cheese Guava Danish: Flaky, buttery, and the perfect balance of tangy cream cheese and sweet guava. A must-try! • Chocolate Hazelnut Swirl: Rich and nutty, though the chocolate could’ve been a bit more intense. Still delicious. • Sweet Potato Casserole Pastry: Comforting with earthy sweet potato and cinnamon flavors, topped with just the right amount of marshmallow. The cozy vibe and friendly service add to the experience. If you’re in Honolulu, definitely stop by for a tasty treat!

I recently stopped by Wallflour Bake Shop and everything was amazing! The croissant was incredibly good. Seriously one of the best I've had. The cinnamon roll was also super delicious. Ellen and her team are doing a great job, and you can really tell they care about what they make. Definitely recommend checking them out if you're in the area!

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS !!!!! Definitely taste just as amazing as it looks and worth keeping a reminder for there calendar !

Love this bakery. Everything we had was delicious. I recommend the passion fruit tart, lilikoi sticky bun, or the cream cheese guava danish if you are looking for tropical flavors. The ham and gruyere croissant was yummy if you are looking for something savory. Vanilla donuts were light and airy and not too sweet. Looking for sweet and salty, try the pretzel Maritozzi. We'll definitely be back the next time we are on Oahu.

Seriously, the black sesame croissant was the best croissant I’ve ever had all my life. I wish I tried more of their pastries!!

There were always long lines, so I didn’t try for a long time. But I finally tried it and their pastries are really delicious😋✨ It’s worth to wait on a long line. If you have a chance to go Kakaako farms market, please try it💓

Busy Farmers Market atmosphere on Saturday morning in Kaka’ako. Go early for the best selection. Look for the blue tarps toward the back of a row of vendors close to the building.

Bakery
Breadshop is a small bakery located in Kaimuki, offering a variety of artisanal breads such as focaccia and brioche. The bakery's owner, Chris Sy, started with limited quantities at farmers' markets and medical schools before establishing the brick-and-mortar location. The bakery has gained popularity for its country loaves, furikake focaccia, and ever-evolving pastry creations like kulolo Danish and smoked carrot pastry.
Great bakery in Honolulu. The plain croissant was flaky, crispy and flavourful as any amazing croissant I've had on the mainland. I'd eat it again in a heartbeat. I also got a Danish with a local fruit. Not sure how to write the fruits name but it was mild in flavour and tasty with everything else on the danish. Highly recommend stopping by here if you're in the city. You can also order online and pick up. If you don't, you get to pick whatever is left for the day. They had a little of everything baked today when I walked over from Waikiki.

Waialae bread shop- my favorite is the French bread, so much classy and tasty than the Cosco French bread. I could tell that its made with special care & ingredients. Sourdough loaves and baguet is my second favorite. Taegu spinach manchego croissant is an interesting one. I made this garlic oil dip that goes perfectly well.

Can't beat a local bread shop that makes delicious baked goods at unbeatable prices. Ordering is easy online and pick up is quick and efficient. Parking is available in a parking lot behind/adjacent to the building. All of the breads and baked goods are larger than you'd expect. The ciabatta is over a foot long and the slice of potato focaccia was the entire length of the bakery box (started eating before I remembered to snap a photo 😅).

Some of the best pastries I've had in the world. Bookmarking this on my worldwide favourites list. Taeggu spinach manchego croissant - 5 stars I'm not usually a croissant person, and this was on the greasy side, but the filling blew me away. Sweet, savoury and umami in perfect balance. Mushroom danish - 5 stars Great filling, drier than the croissant. I prefer the drier texture as I don't usually like the feeling of grease on my lips. I think the wetter taeggu filling would actually go well with this pastry since it's a wetter filling. Crisp bread - 4.5 stars Salty but fragrant and great texture.

finally visited Breadshop after hearing so many people rave about it, and truly exceeded all of my expectations! for our first time, we ordered the Brioche, Mango Cheesecake Brioche Tart, and Taegu Spinach Manchego Croissant. Everything tasted truly divine and the flavour profiles were also very unique and harmonious. The texture of the bread and the pastries were perfect and we will definitely be back soon to try other breads and pastries! There's a small parking lot with the first hour of parking free, as well as a few tables and chairs in the shade which were convenient. The online ordering process was smooth and easy, and an email notification was sent when my order was ready for pickup. Incredible experience all-round at Breadshop and this bakery will definitely be on my regular rotation 🥰😌🩷

I’d heard whispers about this carb-loaded praise about this place. People were walking away looking like they’d just found true love… in a paper bag of fresh-baked goodness. I managed to swoop in right as they pulled the brioche from the oven, according to their top-secret (but publicly posted) bake schedule. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The smell alone could’ve solved world peace. That warm, doughy cloud hit my face and suddenly my heart felt like it was wrapped in a buttery hug. Brioche, with its rich ingredients, is like the fancy cousin of regular bread, sweet, soft, a little bougie, but still down to earth. Not as buttery as a croissant, not as sugary as a cookie… just perfectly balanced. The brioche lives in the moment. By the next day, it lost a bit of its pillowy charm. But pop it in the toaster, slap on some butter, honey, or your jam of choice and BOOM. You’re right back in that cozy little moment of joy.

Best baked goods on island! So much bread variety, from the classic city loaf to pumpernickel and beet rye. The pastries are all divine, and I appreciate the mix of sweet, savory and seasonal flavors. The chocolate chip cookie is quite literally the perfect cookie. The whole process from order to pickup is a breeze. What a gem, keep it up!
Connie W — Google review
Best bakery on the island. Simple breads done incredibly well. Complicated pastries (we had sesame and sugar dark chocolate croissants!) that are simply perfect. The sandwiches pictures I made at home, but it's all using their awesome bread!

The Local General Store is a delightful culinary gem where the collaboration of butcher Jason Chow and baker Harley Tunac Chow results in an array of mouthwatering treats. Their innovative offerings include unique delights like longanisa croissants and lard chocolate chip cookies, alongside Harley's standout creations such as exquisite chocolate croissants and seasonal pastries that celebrate Hawaii’s rich ingredients.
First off, very friendly crew there. Was recommended to me by a friend and it was great. Always searching for high quality beef and their Ribeye was amazing. Butcher prepared it right in front me. Their sandwich special was lunch today and it was perfect. High quality local island beef. Gonna be my go to!

Stumbled onto this place and had an amazing breakfast burrito then came back another day for some pastries. Holy crap, everything we ate was fantastic, using local ingredients and the sweetest people! Such a special place.
Kimber C — Google review
We got five pastries and a breakfast sandwich to share for about $45, so normal. Absolute 10 out 10 would recommend. We also purchased the Japanese curry bratwurst. The place doesn’t smell like a butchers shop in Hawaii heat. It’s simple, clean and amazing.
Maria R — Google review
I purchased pork chops, corned beef hash, sausage, ground beef, Italian sausage, cinnamon roll, and chocolate haupia pie!!! The pork chops were juicy and tender, the cinnamon roll was good, but the star was the chocolate haupia pie!!! Definitely be back for the fresh meat and yummy 10/10 desserts!!!

If you're ever in Kaimuki on the weekend, this spot is a must-visit. I make it a point to stop by whenever I'm in the area--and I highly recommend going right when they open, as their most popular items tend to sell out quickly. This charming butchery not only offers high-quality meats but also serves up some of the most delicious pastries and breakfast sandwiches around. The breakfast sandwich menu changes frequently, depending on the meats available, which keeps things exciting and seasonal. My absolute favorite item? The Housemade Char Siu Pickled Mustard Green Danish. It's a perfect balance of savory and sweet, with crispy, flaky layers filled generously with flavorful char siu and topped with a rich Peking duck sauce. It's unlike anything else you'll find in Honolulu. Other standout items include: Lilikoi Orange Guava Mochi Danish - tropical, chewy, and bright Chocolate Chip Cookie - classic, gooey, and satisfying Quiche - rich, buttery, and perfectly baked The service is consistently excellent--everyone is friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. The energy here feels local and warm, like a neighborhood spot that truly cares about its craft and community. If you're looking to grab a quick bite, this place delivers every time. Don't miss it!
Jhoev S — Google review
I was gonna take a picture but it smelled so good I just ate it. The honey toast was so delicious 10/10. The Char Siu Mustard Pastry 7/10. There was little to no meat filling but it was still really really good tasting. Staff were amazing!
Leon N — Google review
Drove a long ways away from home because I saw an advertisement for this place. If you’re thinking of grabbing food, do it before lunch. When I got there and had paid for street parking there was nothing, just their meat section and like. 3 random food items that looked old. I’m sure it would’ve been a wonderful experience with wonderful food!…if they had restocked.

Nestled in a charming corner, Beyond Pastry Studio is a delightful haven for pastry lovers. The talented Cristina Nishioka takes pride in using authentic local ube, crafting her signature ube cream cheese ensaymada that stands out as one of the lightest treats around. If you’re lucky enough to visit on Filipino Pastry Fridays, you'll be treated to an array of mouthwatering delights like chicken adobo pandesal and jackfruit cake.
I ate my pastries so fast they didn't get photographed. I asked the person helping me what some of her favorites were and she recommended the futakake hot dog roll (sorry if I got the name wrong). They also had shitake mushroom and cheese roll hot out of the oven and it was a delight. Normally I do not go for that sort of item but this was savory and filling. The ham and cheese roll was decadent and light as well. Saving the Ube sugar roll for later! I will definitely be coming back for more treats! 10/10.

Attending a workshop at Beyond Pastry Studio had been on my bucket list for a long time, and I’m so happy I finally got to experience it. I have zero baking experience, but the class was thoughtfully designed for all skill levels. Christina, the owner, is incredibly generous with her knowledge. We made several of their signature pastries, received recipes, and took home everything we made. Needless to say, the baking experience was a blast, but what touched me most was witnessing the genuine love and support this bakery receives from the community. People have such deep respect for Christina, her craft, and the joy she brings through her creations. I can’t recommend the bakery or the workshops enough. After this experience, you’ll appreciate her pastries on a whole new level. Thank you again!

My wife has been telling me about this wonderful pastry place and she finally brought me a blueberry pastry thing to try. Oh man this place is good! Perfect amount of sugar and blueberries and it’s mixed nicely throughout the pastry (unlike other places where it looks so good but is just on the top). I ate some of it and left the rest in the fridge and forgot about it for a few days. I finally remembered and had the rest and it was still delicious after 10 seconds in the microwave. I don’t know if that’s an official type of test, but to me it just tells me they use great ingredients and good ratios. I just updated my photos as I got to go inside. Oh my gosh this place is good.

I’m from Waipahu so it’s pretty rare that i go to town for food. My wife and i were in the area and she pulled this place up online so we checked it out. I wasn’t expecting it, but their mushroom parm roll was one of my favorite things i’ve eaten this year. Check this place out if you’re nearby.

I've wanted to gatekeep BPS for a long time because it's always been my happy place near work that I can always sneak away to get something to treat myself. So when one of my close friends wanted to do a full tasting and review of BPS, I was close to begging to be on the tasting committee. Christina and her team are always so friendly and helpful, especially when you're like myself and want to try all of their items! BPS as a whole is a beautiful company focused on sharing the flavorful culture (pun intended obvi) of being Filipino. All the love, care, and culture can be tasted in every bite of literally anything the team curates. The ingredients are always so fresh and Christina's years of expertise and experience on everything tasty is truly embodied in any and all of the pastries offered at Beyond Pastry Studio. Honorable mentions: Chocolate decadence cake, Pork Sisig pastry, and personal fave is the Malunggay Mushroom Balsamic nest. Whether, visiting or local, Enjoy Filipino Pastry Friday AND the now extended Filipino Food Week (thru 10/31) to continue sharing the flavors of the Philippines. Big ups to Christina and her team for doing their big one!

I’ve been looking at this place from my parking stall in Bishop Square garage every morning for the past couple months. Finally walked across the street to check out. Glad I did. Nice selection of pastries, biscuits and other treats. The biscuit and potato corn bun were awesome. I can see this place becoming a habit. 😬🤣🤙🏼

Consistently delicious pastries. I go here at least once a week. The staff is always so warm and welcoming. I tend to lean more savory, so I always get either the ham & cheese roll, pumpkin-bacon scone, or the maple bacon pudding.

Nestled in the cozy 808 Center, CakeM is a delightful bakery that specializes in Japanese-style cakes and pastries. Run by Megumi Watanabe Albritton, this charming spot is renowned for its fresh fruit tart, featuring a luscious layer of almond cream and topped with vibrant fruits. The star of the show is undoubtedly their Japanese strawberry shortcake—an elegant creation made with soft sponge cake, real whipped cream, and perfectly tart strawberries that harmonize beautifully with the sweetness.
CakeM was fantastic! Communication was smooth and reliable throughout the process, making planning stress-free. The cake itself was delicious—beautifully made, and a hit with our guests. We were very pleased and would definitely recommend their services!

CakeM Honolulu is a charming little bakery with a limited outdoor seating area, perfect for a quick bite or a leisurely afternoon treat. Despite its small size, the bakery offers a variety of delicious cakes and pastries. The bakery wasn't busy when I visited. The service was friendly and efficient. I decided to try their signature strawberry shortcake, and it was a delightful choice. The cake was light and fluffy, with a perfect balance of sweetness. The fresh strawberries added a wonderful burst of flavor. While the limited seating might be a drawback for those looking for a more extensive dining experience, CakeM Honolulu is definitely worth a visit for anyone with a sweet tooth.

We ordered a birthday cake for a relative. It was a small maybe 6inch Paid roughly $100 for it. No problems there as it was advertised and it’s what we paid for. Here’s the problem though, When we received the cake we had to sign a waiver for damages and such(something we never had to do at other bakeries) so kind of a red flag there. We left thinking. Nothing of it though. We noticed when we got to the car though, that the cake was already hitting the side of the box, like it was basically ruined lol We opened up the box to find that the cake itself was deflating on one side and drooping. It literally looked like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It was so shameful to present to our relative. He was obviously disappointed too. The taste of the cake was nothing special but it wasn’t terrible. Very disappointed for the amount we paid and the result we got, unable to do much because of the waiver we had to sign. Buyers beware of this cake shop, i would highly recommend somewhere else.

CakeM to the rescue! Their strawberry shortcake slice was the perfect ‘Happy Birthday’ surprise—thank you! They even added a ‘Happy Birthday’ message on a small chocolate heart, which turned out perfectly. The cake itself was done in the Japanese style—light, fluffy, and not overly sweet, without the excessive sugar you often find in American cakes. Quick, wonderful service, and thoughtfully packed! Thank you for saving the day! 😊

Small and beautiful Japanese style (French style?) cakes. Shop is pretty too. Not too sweet like American especially like Hawaiian sweets. Very polite Japanese-English bilingual stuff members. Everything is very Japanesey. I would go back again! (Cakes in my photo look squished only because of my driving. They looked perfect when I got them)
Blu K — Google review
First off, this review is a mixture of the in house desserts and the custom cupcakes I had ordered. My dad had their cream puffs and loved it. Said it was the best he had so far in Hawaii. I also had their strawberry shortcake and thought it was ok (had better). Now on to the custom cupcakes! The design of the cupcakes were ADORABLE. Just what we had asked for. However, upon the first bite I was left confused. I clearly remembered ordering cupcakes, not corn bread. It wasn't even good corn bread. Super dry. The butter cream frosting tasted like room temp butter mixed with sugar. (I love frosting btw so not biased!) All in all, a huge disappointment because if I wanted corn bread, I would just go Zippys and not pay $5 per. I think their custom cakes are probably ok (based on the strawberry shortcake).. but I would give the cupcakes a hard pass. Do try the cream puffs though. (The 2 stars is for the cream puffs and design of the cupcakes.)
Nancy N — Google review
Love cakeM! I love the store because their cakes are all made from the scratch. I've tried strawberry short cake, mont blanc cake (OMG! So GOOD! I believe they only serve on Wednesday and Thursday), chocolate cake, fruit tart, lemon tart... and they were all amazing! They serve local grown coffee and tea (Lilikoi tea). I will definitely go back again!!!
