The 50 best cheap eats in Honolulu

The venerable local plate lunch spot that’s been here for decades. Got the mixed plate for old time sake and food was up within a few minutes. Sad to say it wasn’t as excellent as I remember. I don’t know if it’s just me, but the taste was just OK. some of the other places on the mainland is better (not L&L there though). Meat a little on the dry side and excess mayo in the Mac salad. Would still recommend, to check that off your list, and in the case, I may have come on a bad day. I probably won’t be back this trip because there are a bunch of other places I need to try.

I personally prefer more flavor with natural spices so this place just wasn’t a fit for me. I did like the atmosphere, ambiance etc and was glad I came out as this place came highly rated. Good portion sizes for sure.

Finally got to try the iconic Rainbow Drive-in and while it’s been around for a long time, I wasn’t that impressed by the food. My sister-in-law ordered the shrimp tempura and spam and eggs plate. Taste was good, average, nothing exciting. My boyfriend ordered the loco moco and was sorely disappointed by the size of the burger patty - small and thin. I did grab a couple of shirts and stickers that were super cute. Probably won’t come back but glad I came to say that I tried it.

Friday night visit, first time, the macaroni salad had entirely too much mayonnaise. The rice was ok. The meats were the best parts of the entrees:braised chicken thighs and bbq pork. The bbq pork would've been better if it was served with some bbq sauce. The service was fine. They have several tables to sit at or you can get your food to go. The noise level was not too loud, you could easily hear the person next to you.

This place has rave reviews on social media and is described as a must-try spot when visiting Oahu, so my family and I decided to check it out. The atmosphere is really cool — it has that old-school, retro vibe that makes it feel like a true local favorite. I ordered the famous Loco Moco since everyone online said it was a must, but I personally prefer more flavor in my food. The patties were thin and reminded me of a high school lunch meal — not terrible, just not as flavorful as I expected. My son got the cheeseburger and said it was also pretty bland, which was a bit disappointing considering all the hype. On the bright side, the macaroni salad was excellent — creamy, tasty, and probably the best part of the meal. Overall, it’s worth stopping by for the experience and local vibe, but the food didn’t quite live up to the social media buzz for us.

So i ordered a pork cutlet... the breading basically slipped off the meat, gravy has no flavor to it, and it is super thick. Mac salad the only highlight of this. Really expected it to be good because the other drive ins are better. The area is just not the best. Lots of homeless. The worker was really grumpy and wasn't the very nicest.

We got the mix plate and chili cheese fries. There were a lot of seatings but we were attacked the pigeons and other birds that were there lol so eat in your car or go when they're not around. The food portion were great hit the spot!

They had nice musubi and it was very fresh. They had a lot of different flavours available . The line was long, but it moved quickly. They are cheap as well. I like the spam and egg one with bacon.

Wide variety of musubi and other Japanese dishes here like udon and bento. It's a small store with fast service and cute musubi merchandise. The double bacon with egg musubi, double shrimp musubi were good.

Musubi Cafe Iyasume never disappoints! There are several Musubi Cafe locations, but I always come to this one because the quality is consistently top notch. The spam musubi is ofc a must, but my personal favorite is the salmon mayo onigiri!

Going early in the morning is definitely the way to go! We tried both the musubi and the onigiri here. I really wanted to love this place because it’s known for its musubi, but unfortunately, it was nothing special. The spam-to-rice ratio was 1:3, which made it really dry. The filling in the onigiri was very dry, and again, the rice ratio was way too high. I would suggest trying the musubi for yourself, but I recommend skipping the onigiri. I did manage to pick up the original sauce, which was a nice bonus, but I won’t be returning for any of the food again.

This take out shop is so Cute it’s so much like Japan. It’s also very conveniently located in Waikiki for all the tourists so I can see why it’s popular. From the decor, to their merchandise, and most importantly their spamasubis everything has that detail that makes it authentic and just adorable with packaging. It just reminds me so much of Japan. They have all various kinds of spamasubis but I loved the shisosubi and also the cucumber egg. Their menu also features curry and various bentos. A worthy mention are also their various Onigiri selection which are just as good but I understand when in Hawaii people want to try the spamsubi. It’s priced great for what it is and there maybe a wait time because it’s very popular. Tip: go to the other location just 3 blocks over. There’s a small to go window just 15 min walking. Yes there are 2 locations … Overall great shop authentic and not just catered to tourists but it’s just delicious and fast.

The store was in the neighborhood where I was staying. Yesterday I saw a huge line but today there were only a few people. So I hopped in and ordered a Musubi pack and a Teriyaki Spam Musubi. They make things to order so it took about 10 minutes to have my number called. They have a system to show and tell which order is complete, much like the deli counter in a grocery store. The food was just under $10 and was the perfect amount for lunch. Try to go off peak and I think your tummy will thank you.

You cannot skip this little gem. I ordered the Black Pepper, Egg & Spam (absolutely delicious), Double Tuna & Spicy Shrimp. They’re rather cheap in price but delicious. The lady who took my order was really sweet and very helpful

Helena's is hands down one of our absolute favorite spots every time we visit Hawaii! The food is consistently amazing--comforting, flavorful, and worth every bite. We were so happy to see their recent expansion, and it makes the experience even better. The staff here are always so lovely and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. This place has become a tradition for us, and we can't imagine a trip to Hawaii without stopping by.

Excellent! Went for lunch on a Friday, it was busy but there were some seats. Parking was somewhat difficult but doable if you are able to walk 1-2 blocks. We ordered one of the menu’s that included short rib, the salmon salad, pork, side of rice + the coconut finale. We also included a fried fish that was recommended. Everything came out of the kitchen rather fast. First, the salmon salad: we liked it, but we think it was normal, we are no experts in that dish. Next, short rib: excellent. Tasty, great color, goes very good with the rice. Fried fish: juicy, cooked to perfection. Pork: tasty, also goes very well with the rice. To end lunch, we tried the coconut (“jello”). It was good, just not used to eat it with onion. Price was super reasonable as it was a good amount of food. Definitely recommend if you want a Hawaiian experience!

Helena's came highly recommended during our visit to Hawai'i, and we finally had the opportunity to check them out. Upon arrival, we were able to order immediately. While there was seating available, we opted to order our food to go. We ordered the long rice chicken, a small order of Pipikaula-style short ribs, macaroni salad, and fried butter fish. It didn't take long to receive our food. For the prices, the portion sizes seemed a bit small. When we finally ate, we felt that the food didn't meet our expectations. The short ribs were a bit tough, the butter fish was excessively salty but the vinegar helped balance it out, and the macaroni salad was probably our favorite, but not the best one we had in Hawai'i. After trying Waiahole Poi Factory's chicken long rice, which was incredibly flavorful, we felt this one was lacking in taste. Overall, Helena's was okay, but it didn't quite live up to the hype!

Helena’s has been on my food wishlist for years and I finally made it on this trip for a late lunch. I can’t stop thinking about how delicious it was - easily my favourite meal I’ve ever had in Hawai’i. Enjoyed the Laulau (tender, rich, and flavourful), the butterfish collar (so fresh, light, and crispy) and poi (love how it balanced the richness of the Laulau). They brought out a plate with raw sliced onion and a lovely coconut dessert plus a small side of local salt - pro tip I learned the midway through the meal: dip the onion into the salt and eat with the food and it’s the most amazing flavour enhancer (nice salt and acidity)! Hours later my onion breath lingers land i’m trying to figure out if I can come back before my flight tomorrow to try the dry aged beef ribs. This restaurant and the staff deserve all the praise it gets. I’ll be dreaming of this meal until I can return again.

Food was ok but not worth the price. We ordered 5 Large orders of Short Ribs, 3 Large orders of Fried Ahi, & 3 Haupia that was suppose to feed 20 people for $200 (see pics). Maybe we assumed too much? Its up to you to decide.

We went for an early lunch on a Wednesday because we had read that it could get crowded. On the way, our Lyft driver gave us tips on what to order and how to eat it (don't eat everything separately - get a little bit of multiple things in each bite), which made the experience even more fun. We ordered Lomi Salmon, Short Ribs Pipikaula Style, Luau Squid, Kalua Pig & Cabbage and it came with haupia (a coconut dessert). Everything was delicious, but the ribs (oooh, the ribs!) are magical! I still think about them and it has been 7 months since we were there. If I ever have the chance to go back to Hawaii, I will definitely go back.

If you’re in Honolulu looking for the best authentic Hawaiian food then Helena’s is where you want to be! We tried every other “top” restaurant and Helena’s was the absolute best of all- we returned on our second to last day to eat there again. The only problem is it was so good I’m going to be craving Helena’s and we like in Oklahoma!! 10/10 recommend- do NOT miss out! Side note- I have to eat Gluten free and almost everything on their menu was naturally GF.

Just another POSITIVE REVIEW! Definitely come through for some fresh poke! Only downside is small parking lot & small seating area! But you should just take it to go and take it to the beach !! My boyfriend and I got spicy salmon and Hawaiian style ahi! 10/10 !

I ordered the Shoyu Tuna and Spicy Salmon combo poke, it is fresh and tasty. There's not a lot of sitting area, they have 2 benches by the parking lot. It's best for take out and enjoy at the beach.

Really enjoyed my poke here! Tasted super fresh and was very filling!! They had fresh salmon so I got a combo of half salmon half tuna ut was GOOD. I came around 2pm on a Tuesday and luckily there was no line and I was able to grab a seat on the dining tables outside :) wish there was a bit more space outside, But I do get the appeal of a mainly takeout spot

Parking may be tough and there’s not many spots to see. Just keep that in mind if you’re coming here. The line to order moves quick! As for the food, I thought the poke was okay. Not my favorite in the area but I wanted to try since it was pretty popular. I got half half (spicy salmon and I forgot the other one it was ahi tuna)

The fish is fresh and flavorful with nice gummy texture, but unfortunately the white rice is the weak link here. Doesn't taste like sushi rice, and the texture is kind of dry like the jasmine rice I make at home. Does not pair as well as possibly can with the fish. Tight plaza with a few parking spots, and only a couple tables outside. Turnover is pretty quick though.

This was our first poke stop on Hawaii trip and we had selected this spot based on the high rating that this spot enjoys on Google. We had the Spicy Ahi and the Shoyu Ahi. The Spicy Ahi was unfortunately bland and lacked any spice. On the other hand, the Shoyu Ahi was flavorful and had a kick to it. The quantity was pretty good for the two of us. Seating is limited and is outdoors. Overall, not bad but maybe we should have skipped the Spicy Ahi.

We visited Marugame Udon not so much because I was personally interested, but because it was on my husband’s must-try list. He absolutely loved it, and I have to admit the flavors were very good. I ordered the simplest bowl with just green scallions. The broth had a rich, almost mushroom-like flavor that I enjoyed, though I didn’t focus on finishing all the noodles since I try to limit carbs. On the side, I had a tempura asparagus that was fresh and tasty. Overall, it’s not really my type of food, so I wouldn’t say it’s a place I’d rush back to on my own—but it was still a good experience, especially for my husband who really enjoyed it. One thing I did notice was that it felt extremely hot inside while we were eating. The air conditioning didn’t seem to be working properly, and with a steaming bowl of soup in front of us, it honestly felt like a sauna. We went on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30–3:00, and it wasn’t crowded at all. Service was fast, the portions were generous, and the quality was solid. If you love udon, this is definitely worth a visit. 🍲

Really impressed! We ordered the Tonkatsu Undo along with a bunch of sides fried chicken, fried squid, and a teriyaki chicken bowl. Everything was flavourful and fresh. Having been to Japan myself, I can say the soup here tastes very authentic. Definitely one of the better Japanese spots I’ve tried outside Japan. I’ll be coming back for sure next time I’m in Hawaii!

We absolutely loved Marugame Udon! We were staying in the Waikīkī area and ended up coming here multiple times during our trip because it was that good. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and served fast, even when the line is out the door (which moves surprisingly quickly). I had the Tonkotsu and the #1 on different visits, and both were excellent. The broth was rich, the noodles perfectly cooked, and the portions generous. Our family of four ate so well for just a few bucks each time, which is rare to find in Waikīkī. The atmosphere is energetic but welcoming, and watching the udon being made right in front of you adds to the fun experience. The staff keeps things moving efficiently while still being friendly and helpful. If you’re visiting Waikīkī, don’t miss this spot. Great food, great value, and an authentic experience that we’ll definitely come back for on our next trip!

Don't be discouraged by the line out the door! It moves very quickly. We were incredibly impressed by this restaurant. We had planned to come here while booking our trip and it did not disappoint. The noodles were perfectly tender and fresh, the broth was umami and rich. Tempura was fresh, hot and crispy! We will probably be back before our trip is over.

We were greeted by Max so sweetly and knowledgeable. We swapped out rice on #21 for Udon (made on the spot)and it was the best decision ever. The line was efficiently fast. The plate did not disappoint. We will be returning again before we leave bc the authentic plate won't be found anywhere else. Right in the heart of Waikiki.

I didn't expect that the Japanese food is delicious like this. I ate the Nekutama as main and lobster as a side dish. With salads also. They way they do the eggs is unique, you can feel and taste the egg. The way they serve is very fast, grap your tray, tell the order, they will fill it in less than a minute, then you pick some salads, fried food like sea food, chicken etc. Pay and eat. Also it is very affordable price compared to other restaurants.

We had such a great experience here! The food is incredibly fresh and flavourful — the noodles especially were amazing. Everything tasted authentic and well-prepared.I also really appreciated the smart layout and traffic flow inside the restaurant, it made the whole dining experience smooth. Please don’t be afraid of the wait line outdoors, it goes quick. We had dinner here two nights in a row because it was just that good. Highly recommend! Photos attached.

Food and service is great. For cheap price, you get so much food. There isn't much of a dining area so I recommend taking your food either back to your room or finding a picnic table nearby.

Every time we're in Hawaii, we have to make sure to stop and get our fix of the Steak Shack. Who knew you could get such a tasty steak meal right on the beach. Although the price goes up each time we visit every year or so, it's worth it, so we'll keep returning. Try it out, and your belly will be happy!

I was able to order right away at 1PM on a Friday. I ordered the signature 6 oz steak plate. I will say prices have gone up. My food was $17.95. I found a table around the corner in the shade and waited until my name was called. Steak came with a sauce container, slightly spicy, sweet, and tangy. Steak was tender and perfectly medium rare. Salad was fresh. Rice was generous but slightly hard like it didn't have enough time to steam. The view was excellent.

One of the best steaks ever. Tender and peppery with a choice of ranch or Italian sauce. Mixed greens and rice included. Eat it while watching the sunset along Fort DeRussy beach. Fireworks every Friday at 7:45pm. $16 for the 6 oz., then about a dollar per added ounce of meat. Long line for order during meal time, then takes around 15-20 minutes to wait for your order. Really worth the wait and the price. A cordoned seals resting area is just in front of the place for an added attraction, and the seals swim with the people!😃

The steak was amazing, excellent flavor and great tender steak cooked mid rare. Customer service could use some major improvement, not friendly at all! Limited seating but an excellent take-out place as well.

Bad experience - after a 30+ min wait we got a bad deal. Maybe got the b squad working today.This was just a rip off. We got back to hotel and this was the portion for the chicken. Unacceptable. The other pictures show this is not what others have received. We are not happy.

Wasn’t anything special, if it wernt for the sunset I don’t think it would have such popularity. Steak was over cooked - they ask how you want it cook, not sure why they ask because it’s definitely well done anyway.

Stay away from this place unless you truly have no other options but it is not worth your money ‼️ We were seated by a very nice waiter who took our order, and that was it! We couldn’t find him afterward, and if you try asking any other waiter for help, they won’t respond because they’re “not assigned” to your area. Imagine this: I needed a fork and knife. I saw some near the kitchen and noticed a waiter standing right next to them. I politely asked if he could hand them to me, and he said, “No, I can’t. You need to ask your waiter for that.” I waited another 5 minutes, but our waiter still didn’t show up. Eventually, I went and grabbed them myself from the other side. Our order was sitting right in front of us (we were seated near the kitchen) for at least 10 minutes before anyone brought it over only after I pointed it out to the waiter! The burger was tiny, and the service was horrible. On top of that, I ordered my steak well-done, but because the restaurant was busy, they served it medium-well instead. That was a Monday, I can’t imagine how the weekend would look like. Never going back again‼️

Stopped in to pick up a few sweet treats and loved them! They have a fantastic array of baked goods, from your standard donuts and muffins to croissants and danishes. However, some unique options I recommend trying are the mochi donuts and my personal favorite, the coco puff. It’s a puffed pastry with cold chocolate cream in the middle and your choice of topping ex coconut, green tea, etc. While I didn’t take advantage of the diner side, there is a counter where you can sit and eat a regular meal. There’s plenty of parking outside as well.

Fantastic staffing and amazing food in terms of quality and price! They have a funny table back in the bakery kitchen that is so clean and very fun to experience. All of this made us come here twice during our 4-day trip!

This is the original location that started it all. ATMOSPHERE: Parking is pretty plentiful. It's a simple and bustling bakery along with a long dining counter which seats about 20 or so. There was a line of about 10 people ahead of us. Turn over was pretty quick as we sat in about 20 minutes. Reservations are not taken. You get an up front seat of the food being made. MENU: It's a mix of local and American diner fare, and of course the bakery with all kinds of things. FOOD: Butter Rolls House rolls these days are a rarity! Sinfully buttery and moist, the included sweet dipping sauce isn't necessary. Hamburger Steak While it's a very mainstream dish, the highlight was the taste of the homemade patty. It had a nice crust to it and had a great grilled flavor. The gravy was light brown and mildly salty. The mac salad was very good. The entrees normally come with sides of a butter roll and rice, or you can opt for all rice which I did. Luckily my friend did not eat all of her butter roll so I got to try some and it was delish! Hotcake The single piece was big, delicious and creamy. SERVICE: The ladies who work behind the counter all multi-task - cook/serve/bus/cashier and all were so friendly, patient, professional, and helped each other out. OVERALL: Good food, average prices, friendly service.

Great bakery and diner, got the loco moco, and the macnut waffle, both were really delicious. The loco moco had that Smokey taste from the grill, and the macnut waffle was light and crispy, the butter that came with it was very flavorful. Also ordered some pastries. Service was good, the place gives you an old diner.

I love this bakery! Lots of parking, service was a promt, this place can get busy, they have overflow tables in the kitchen! So you can actually see all the desserts being made! Pretty cool! Ambiance is slightly on the noisy side but still able to hold conversation! I've been here several times and the food is nothing short of amazing! Ordered: Butter rolls - 10/10 perfectly grilled nice and crispy! So good I crave it. MacNut Waffles with fruit - 10/10 perfectly cooked, nice and crispy has a nice bite! No need for syrup cause the macadamia sweetens it naturally! Fruit and whip cream were a nice added touch ! Steak and eggs 10/10 cooked to perfection! I opted to upgrade from regular rice to fried rice; fried rice was great! Cheese burger deluxe 10/10 so satisfying the patty was cooked ourfectoy and had a nice char to it, It was so good I didn't take a picture! Buns were nice and toasted well, their potato crisps are nice circle potatoe with a nice width very different but paired well with the burger! Perfectly seasoned too! Loco moco with egg 10/10 the gravy was bomb, about of rice was great! Nice char burger meat, perfectly seasoned ! Perfect plate, and would definitely order again! Coffee - 10/10 free refills, great bold coffee! Desserts: Cream puff, coco puff, matcha puff - 10/10 they are known for it! It's perfect and not as sweet as other places! All desserts are made in house, which I appreciate it! Quality food and desserts! Highly recommend this place!

Heard about this restaurant through a local, who had told us that Maguro Spot had the best poke in town. Indeed, they were correct! We had the mixed fish ( tuna, salmon, and shrimp) in our poke bowl and this was THE FRESHEST fish I have ever had. You can tell they pick the best ingredients. The rest of the poke was equally delicious, but the taste of the fish was what stayed with me! I cannot recommend this poke spot enough! However, when we arrived around 8 pm, the line was wrapping around the block!! As a result, I would recommend giving yourself and your party plenty of time for dinner, since the wait was about 30 minutes! The line does move fast ( the staff is rather speedy and efficient) but there were still so many people! There is also seating in the back of the restaurant since it's rather small and there aren't any seats or tables inside!

After a hike to Diamond Head I was starving and saw a long line for this place, so naturally I was like it must be good. I've NEVER had poke but I always wanted to try it. Menu had a great selection and easy enough to navigate for a newbie. I ordered salmon, white rice, green onion. garlic, cucumber with teriyaki sauce. Service was fast and Cody the cashier was friendly. I wanted to love this bowl but 4/5 for me. Everything was fresh and the serving size was great. Maybe I'm just not a poke girl, but I want to be. I would still recommend and would be willing to try again on my next holiday to Hawaii.

This was the best poke I’ve ever had. The mix of flavors was perfectly balanced, with great toppings and delicious, authentic sauces: the Hawaiian sauce was my absolute favorite. There are a few outdoor seats, and everything is done quickly: you walk in, build your bowl, and you’re ready to go. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality. The only thing that could be improved would be adding a bit more space and providing some indoor seating. I remember one day there was a storm, and we had to wait for it to pass before we could sit and eat. Nonetheless, highly recommended!

I love how you can customize your poke bowl here. I also love how fresh the fish tastes and the portions are pretty decent for the price. If I spend $20 here I get a decent portion of fish with various toppings for dinner. If I spend $12 here I get a local afternoon snack. You get what I'm saying?? Anyways love their salmon! I hope they make it so you can accumulate points LOL cuz I come too often.

Maguro Spot may be the best poke I have ever had. The blue marlin was extremely fresh. You can build your own bowl or order from five menu items. Other items are available too. Several sauces are gluten-free. The service is very fast. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It is a great hole in the wall right by Waikiki Beach!

We had a very disappointing experience concerning the pokes we ordered. Both of us got the mixed seafood, and it was not fresh. On top of that, the cut-up fish wasn't processed too well, and each cube still had hard strings(?) that made the chewing unpleasant. We ended up throwing our pokes away. Definitely had a lot more selection on the toppings compared to other places though. Wish it was fresh and processed better :/ The dining area is right by the road so it's not clean either.

This place is extremely popular for its Poke Bowls especially during lunch and dinner hours. A long line forms outside the place. Though order taking is pretty swift and the line moves fast. There is a shared seating space with another smaller restaurant. The menu is large and provides a good variety to choose from. They have both meat based as well as vegetarian poke bowls. Street parking is extremely difficult to find around the area, so would recommend taking public transport or ride share options to get here. Also this place is very close to the Waikiki center and is easily walkable, hence a nice spot for a meal close by to the center.

We went there on Wednesday about 1120a. Gravel lot parking and also staggered parking stalls around. I thought this was going to be a service type of dining. This is a fancier fast food eating/dining. Only walk-in...or looks like take out, lol. There's a table with menus for food and cocktails. You order food at front desk, pay and they give you those vibrating gadgets... don't be dumb like me and give a tip because you service yourself. You find a table if you want to stay. If you want cocktails, you go to the bar and order. When gadget vibrates, go to food counter and get your plate lunch. Atmosphere is actually nice... there's also live music. I got a sweet okole cocktail...a little strong. There's free water at the food counter Fountain drink machine. I had the crab burger...not bad but i think it's can crab. My friend had the furikake mahi... she liked it. We also had the side order garlic pesto shrimp... tasty, but they used small shrimp. The fish market is adjoining, so you can buy and eat that there too. It's not bad and i would eat here again

Good was good but I was hoping for a little more taste in the burger that was featured on diners, drive-ins and dives. It’s got a good view and I don’t really bother you if you stay for a while, which is great. I did not appreciate that The soda was not free refill. A little odd that you have to order lunch at the front, but they had table side service for dinner. As with most fish sandwiches, they often need more sauce to balance out the low-fat content of the fish. Ask for extra sauce if you’re ordering a fish sandwich.

Recommended by a friend. Not bad but not great, parking can be a challenge if there for dinner and you may need to park farther away. Indoor/outdoor seating and beautiful views of the water with live music as well. The menu as a variety of offerings with lots of fresh seafood selection. A varied dessert section as well. I enjoyed my time but probably not a repeat experience

Great experience overall at Nico’s! The fresh fish was amazing and service matched. We had a party of ten and all were very pleased. I had the Miso Black Cod & my wife had the Pier 38 Double Fish Burger w/ salad and house lemon miso dressing. The Ahi appetizer was top notch!

I really enjoyed the variety of food from fish to Italian to burgers to salad and soups. Dessert menu is well with a looksie! I bought carrot cake for home and my friend got the brownie for her birthday. 🎂 The waiter was attentive, kind, and helpful. Live instrumental music was a great touch and added to the ambience. Walked around the pier after dinner. I highly recommend this place for an enjoyable evening dinner +entertainment. A nice place to dress up or just be casual. Fisherman's chowder in a bread bowl was delish and got a side of veggies- carrots and green beans. Yummy! It was the perfect amount of food for me. Friend wanted seafood/fish and that's what she got-swordfish, mashed potatoes and same veggies.

Came here for dinner. Service was a little slow. But maybe because they were so busy. we ordered the calamari and truffle fries and they were very good. I had the crabcake salad. Crabcakes were just okay. But the salad and dressing were delicious. The poke nachos were very good. The place was a little loud because they had live entertainment.

The food was very good and their poke was very fresh. You have to order at the front which we would have preferred a server coming to our table to take our order but the staff were very nice and the food was pretty quick. The atmosphere was nice and comfortable.

We were told that we had to go here. Well, they were right. Get the pineapple smoothie. Made in a fresh pineapple it was absolutely delicious. We also got a couple of other smoothies. They were also great. I ordered the Surfer's breakfast. A nice fried rice infused with Spam, Portuguese sausage, scallions with a fried egg on top. My wife enjoyed her Avocado toast spiked. We also had a breakfast burrito. All good. The views are amazing. Watch the birds, they'll steal your food!

This restaurant was so good. Eating while watching the beachfront made it the perfect spot to chill, relax, and just enjoy some amazing food. The view was gorgeous and the food looked just as good. I got the eggs benedict and an acai bowl and both were delicious, fresh, and hit just right. Honestly, the whole vibe is pure Hawaiian bliss. Great spot to hang out, take in the scenery, and enjoy a nice meal. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

I visited this little restaurant by the ocean and absolutely loved it. The place is very cozy, with surprisingly moderate even low prices considering how high the food quality is. Everything we tried was incredibly delicious. I especially enjoyed the pineapple cocktail, which was amazing. There was live music with musicians playing real instruments, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere. The place is beautifully decorated with string lights, so it’s wonderful to sit by the water in the evening, listen to the sound of the ocean, and enjoy traditional Hawaiian dishes. I really loved this spot. Definitely a recommendation, the price-to-quality ratio is perfect, and the prices are ideal.

What a pleasant evening by the beach to walk, eat, enjoy the music and watch the sunset. We would definitely come back! We got the poke bowl, surfers fried rice, surf & turf, royal loco moco and vegan loco moco. My only complaint is the fried rice was lacking flavor and not a soy sauce bottle or packet in sight. We added some shoyu sauce but it needed something more. It was really nice to have some music and a little performance too.

I can see why two of my local friends recommended this place. We went on a rainy Friday evening and it was delightful. There are seats under cover. It’s counter service and no alcohol is served because it’s a public park the night we were there. There was live music and locals doing hula which was just lovely. Public bathrooms nearby are adequate.

We had a delicious, fresh lunch at Barefoot Beach Cafe last week. Lots of choices on the menu! My avocado toast with an over-easy fried egg had fresh arugula, tomato and just enough feta to give the egg a nice bit of saltiness, and the presentation on the ceramic plate was bright and cheerful with a piece of fresh pineapple and a flower blossom. There was live music (very good, too!) while we were there for lunch, and the covered seating allowed us to see the ocean while enjoying the shade and cool breezes. A great stop for lunch!

Good was so good. The view was amazing. Fish of the day was swordfish. Watch your food because the birds are fat and aggressive. It was nice despite the chaos. Exempt all the homelessness collected here. Very dirty restrooms. Do not let your children go to the restrooms alone. Found people naked showering in the men's.

Cajun fries!! Paired with the aioli = delicious. Light and crisp. Friendly service, decent atmosphere. Food was a bit dry. We ordered the chicken plate and fish tacos. Flavor was good on the chicken, but it was dry. Fish tacos could use more flavor. Mac salad was yum. Would go back to try other dishes. Could have just been an off day because other reviews say the fish tacos are spot on.

Amazing fish taco place!! I can tell you from experience that you do not need to order the two taco plate, we both got a two taco plate and it lasted us 4 meals collectively! The pricing is really good for the amount of food you get. There's seating inside which is great, and a bathroom. The food didn't take too long, and the staff was super nice. The food itself was so yummy!! Their Mac salad, fries, slaw, and rice all come with the tacos, and were so good. I highly recommend it!

It’s been a long time since I’ve had fresh tortilla chips and the ones from Southshore hit the spot! I also got the Kai-Bi burrito and it was to die for. Highly recommend stopping by here for your next meal!

From thirtieth birthday to third trimester. This place is amazing. Early on in dating we came here during Covid and absolutely loved the food, I remember being very sad for my last bite because I didn’t know when I’d ever eat here again. Four years later—married and expecting—we are coming back for our baby moon and they continue to impress. The food is better than I remember. The people are absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to come back again. Highly recommend the shrimp and fish tacos and if you’re feeling extra jazzy add their amazing pesto to it. Honestly, South Shore Grill is the reason why we come to Oahu.

I walked 38 minutes to this place on a recommendation. My hopes were high but I was disappointed. I got the Mauka Makai , the most expensive plate. It took about 15min to get it. I choose fish and steak. The fish was dry and over cooked. The steak has a sauce very similar to teriyaki sauce, but it was good. Most of the plate was just a sticky white rice with the Tuna mac. tasted like plain macaroni salad, and slaw. I just was not impressed. I guess if you take the fish and wrap it in a tortilla and put sauce and other stuff it could be good. Maybe I will try again but not anytime soon.

Got the two taco plate (fish taco and shrimp taco). The shrimp taco was average but the fish taco was fire! They were accommodating and knowledgeable about gluten free. I wasn’t able to have the tuna Mac salad, but they subbed for fries and rice.

Food was OK. But the fries were just PERFECT! A cute family working together.

This is the best shave ice I have ever had! So different from home in Tennessee, but so much better. The fine shave of the ice, lots of flavor, ice cream middle and cream poured over with fresh fruit is mouth watering and so satisfying on a hot day.

This is a “must visit” for legit and phenomenal shaved ice! The menu has all the best flavors and such impressive creativity. I got the “Road to Haana” and will have to come back to try something new! Come check out Topped Shaved Ice when you’re craving an incredible treat~

Tried the aloha breeze shave ice and the watermelon drink, they were both amazing and better than I imagined! The ice cream in the center and the sweet cream drizzle were a good combination with the fresh fruit! The staff were very helpful and welcoming, will be returning to this spot for sure!

The most unique, creative and deliciously infused shaved ice combos! It’s the real deal — light, melt in your mouth ice, creamy ice cream, and fruity flavors. Their POG was a burst of tropical paradise in every bite. Refreshing and packed with flavor – bliss in a cup!

Got the Hawaiian POG and it was delicious. The combinations of the flavors are so creatively and uniquely matched. We got a sample of the Road to Hana which was surprisingly really tasty. Must try shave ice in a place where not all shave ice is created equal.

First time having shave ice ever & the owner was so kind and knowledgeable. The lady working at the register wasn’t very present for the customers, clearly on FaceTime but the owner was standing there and made our order before the woman even acknowledged us. We got the Hawaiian POG which was SO GOOD! He also informed us that a lot of places don’t actually shave their ice, but we watched as he hand shaved it. Would love to come back !

We got the chow fun with choysum, fried donuts and beef and tendon look fun in soup. The soup dish was good, comforting but leaning towards too salty for us. The chow fun was lacking smokiness, overpowered by the sauce. Texture of noodle was amazing tho. The donuts were great too. Service was quick. We sat next to a larger group and had to share condiments which was a little awkward.

Lam’s Kitchen – A Traditional Chinese Noodle Shop in the Heart of Honolulu’s Chinatown Lam’s Kitchen is a small, old-fashioned noodle shop nestled in the bustling Chinatown district of Honolulu. The place seats only about 30 people, so even though we came during a regular lunch hour, my family and I had to wait around 20 minutes to get a table. I ordered the fish noodle soup – the broth was clear and light, with a clean, subtle flavor. The fish was not fried but cooked directly in the soup, making the meat firm, fresh, and pleasantly mild. It’s a good choice for those who enjoy traditional, light flavors. My husband and child had the stir-fried beef rice noodles – a more memorable dish. The wide, chewy noodles were stir-fried hot with tender slices of beef, and the dish carried a distinct smoky aroma from the wok – adding a layer of depth and authenticity. Lam’s Kitchen may not offer groundbreaking cuisine, but it delivers an honest, traditional Chinese dining experience. If you have time while visiting Chinatown, it’s worth trying at least once.

Still as yummy as before, service was as authentic as I would expect lol first time trying their wonton noodles. Solid. Wonton got shrimp in it too! Love the sassy attitude of my server haha I asked to make sure wonton has shrimp in it coz I've seen many places just putting pork and call it a day (ugh) she's like "wonton is not wonton if there's no shrimp in it." That's what I'm talking about, Aunty.

Service was A+. Very hard working staff. However, food was average, sauce was too watery and without any memorable flavor. Sorry I have no yearn to return here.

They are known for their wok hei (breath of the wok) , but you really come here for fresh made look fun (steam rice noodle roll) . Most popular dish is their soup braised tendon/brisket, wonton, look fun. Other popular dishes are boiled liver with ginger onion, and jook (rice porridge). If you decide to get noodles instead of look fun , get the rice noodle on the side and try it with seaseme sauce / hot sauce. If you get jook, don’t forget to get a side of fried donut . Around lunch time you there most likely will be a wait.

Loved everything we ordered. Beef noodle was the best I have had in US. There were whole shrimps in the wonton. Rice plate was tasty too. Ginger chicken was a little underwhelming compared to other dishes.

Hands down the best hole in the wall, yet not whole in wall Chinese joint ever! We always order the Beef Flank and Tendon egg noodle and hubby orders the look fun, and we add wontons! It's Heaven in a bowl! The tendon is nice and tender while the beef practically melts in your mouth...and the wontons, the wontons with a blend of chewy ground pork and pieces of shrimp round out the deliciousness of the wontons! If you get the jook, make sure to order early because they run out! We lucked out today and they still had it. And the Chinese donut....oh they make it fresh to order so it comes out piping hot and crispy! We didn't order it this time but their look fun roll is full of carbs but...but it's worth every calorie, try it, trust me. You'll be fat, but a happy fatty! I highly recommend this place, it's good and it hits the spot!

A nice chain of retail outlet where you can grab all sorts of groceries .This Foodland is particularly known for Reasonably priced pokes ( $13/lb). And we enjoyed grabbing some getorade to survive the intense heat outside

Horrible experience. My partner and I had a poke bowl there yesterday at noon, and we’ve been suffering ever since—non-stop vomiting, diarrhea, completely stuck in the bathroom for 24 hours. They claim their fish is ‘fresh, caught daily,’ but given this food poisoning nightmare, I seriously doubt it. On top of that, the service was terrible. Never again!

Always a good time to stop and shop! Get there earlier in the day if you want to have a good selection of fresh poke. The furikake pork rinds are great to add to the basket with fresh poke as well. Good bakery. Always a good selection of local fruit options. They have everything you may need and then some.

Unfortunately Foodland Kaneohe is just disgusting. The high prices, dirty store and lack of choices make it the poorest place to shop. It’s so sad.

Aloha, this location has not been renovated like all the Farm locations but still is very very clean, organized and has everything you need. Plus the staff is super nice, generous and polite. Plus the poke is amazing with almost no line when you go. Check it out.

The best malasadas that you can buy in Hawaii! This is a legendary spot to taste the the best malasadas you'll ever have! It's always crowded. The customer service is great and everything is always hand-delivered fresh to you. When you take a bite it literally melts in your mouth. They have a variety of selections with different feelings you can choose from, or you can get the original with no filling. The choice is yours, they also have cold coffees that are really good. This is a dessert that you must try while you're in Hawaii! World famous Leonard's!

We stopped by Leonard’s Bakery for breakfast with my wife and daughter, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! We ordered one of each malasada puff — chocolate, hopia, custard, guava, macadamia, and the special flavor, pumpkin. Every single one was delicious, but the guava was my favorite — light, fluffy, and full of flavor. We even had a fun moment chatting with a Filipina staff member who happened to be from the neighborhood right next to my wife’s back home in the Philippines — such a small world! Don’t let the hoard of people standing out front scare you away - they are very efficient and we were in and out within 10 minutes! The malasadas were fresh, warm, and perfect! We’ll likely go back again before our trip is over — and honestly, you should too!

Leonard’s Bakery is a must try when you're in Hawai’i! Their special pastry dough is fried to perfection — light and fluffy. . When we first arrived, the crowd was pretty intense, and we thought the wait might take forever, but it turned out to be pretty quick. I was able to order right away since everyone was just waiting for their food. There’s no seating inside—it's mainly a to-go spot. I ordered two malasadas, one with cinnamon sugar and another filled with guava. I also ordered a Portuguese sausage wrap and an iced coffee. It took about 15 minutes for our food, which was pretty fast! My husband and I loved the malasadas and the sausage wrap. The iced coffee wasn't really my favorite, but overall, everything else was great. If you're in Hawai’i, make sure to check them out!

Easy to find, however once you see it you better turn in or you'll have to reroute your way back. Parking lot is small, so if you get a parking spot consider yourself lucky. Order inside wait outside, easy flow. The pastry is a Portuguese malasada, and it is absolutely DELICIOUS! I got the cinnamon pastry. I should have ordered more, especially a few cream filled ones. They make to order, be patient, enjoy the weather, it's WORTH it.

The parking lot is super super small! The line to order was fast pace. I didn’t wait long for the doughnuts but it was so good! It was nice, fluffy, and warm.

Went around 4pm and waited 15-20 minutes. We got one of each flavor. TBH I only liked the cinnamon and custard ones. The other flavors just tasted very very light. They came out warm which was nice but they do not taste good when they’re not warm.

Glad we came in this place - it was confusing since there’s two restaurants have same names. We love the Kalbi and grilled squid- it was super tender and flavorful. How they marinated complete the whole plate- plus their side dish portion- quite generous compared to other Korean restaurants. We’d love to return and try other plates! On top of that- I requested extra spicy on my plate- it came out exactly the way I wanted with the spice level that finally meet my expectations. Love it.

I chose to come here because the sign in the front said they are original Me BBQ. Their old location across the street is now me Bar-B-Q. Right away, I can see what's going on. Opportunist took advantage of it and became the imitation. No where it's going to be better than the original if you asked me. Just common sense. Korean is one of my favorites cuisine. From SF bay area, we have some of the best Korean food like LA. This place is legit! BBQ Spicy pork - The pork was very tender. The spiciness frankly to me was just subtle. Not that spicy at all. But the taste was really good. Not too sweet, well flavored and lover the grill flavor. BBQ chicken - It's not very thick, but the chicken does not feel dry. Very tender. I love the chap chae (noodle). Very well seasoned, perfect texture. The grilled potatoes were good as well. Honestly, I didn't try other places and they may be good as well. But if I found one of the best, why bothered risking disappointment. I came here two days in a row. And I may come again tomorrow.

This is by far the worst service I’ve experienced at any restaurant near Waikiki. I can’t believe a decades-old establishment could be so out of touch with the warmth Hawaii is known for! The short-haired blonde woman taking orders looked like she was at a funeral—expressionless, cold, and spoke with zero warmth. There was no service to speak of. You had to get your own soda, and there were no straws. The cold noodles were completely bland, and the grilled short ribs tasted like something from Costco slathered in BBQ sauce—not even as good as something you’d make at home. Honestly, it’s hard not to feel disheartened. Tourist money must be too easy. After eating, you’re expected to throw away your own containers and even return the bowls from your table—what is this, full self-service? Despite the mediocre food, the lack of service, and being met with a sour face, I was still expected to pay a 15% tip. Tip culture is meant to reward good service—not this. You don’t deserve it!

It was delicious!! Unfortunately, we found that place too late on our vacation. Delicious food, fresh and self-made sides. Loved it and one of the bests in Waikiki. I strongly recommend the fried dumplings plate with the sides of choice :)

We had the Kalbi Plate, and it was the best meal we’ve had in Honolulu! The portion was huge, the price was good, and above all, the taste was absolutely amazing. We really like Maguro Spot nearby, so my wife and I ordered one poke from there and one kalbi plate from Me BBQ to share — but we both agreed that Me BBQ was even better. The flavor was just on another level! Be careful not to confuse it with “Me Bar-B-Que” across the street — it’s just a copy of this place. It was this restaurant’s old location and when they moved to a new one across the street, some other people opened a restaurant under, practically, the same name. This story is really shocking. The Korean sign of the fake place says “내 바베큐,” but no Korean would actually write it that way!

The young girl at the counter wasn’t very friendly towards anyone really and gave only myself a small amount of each side when she was more generous with others. Downfall - They take your order, serve the sides in your container and pass it back to the kitchen for your main dish. If it’s busy, your sides will be cold by the time you receive your order. The sides should be served as soon as your main dish is finished so everything is hot

Food is extremely disappointing. The grilled squid is like rubber sandals. Can’t even chew. Beef soup is bland and radish and meat is really not fresh. For the price, one can dine nicely in a restaurant than this “food court” kind of food. Service is slow due to short of staff. Charged $1.5 for using credit card, which wasn’t told to customers beforehand. I would consider other options before dine here.

Almost everything you can think of. Souvenir section, but they don't carry a collectable spoon. For a minute you think you are in Japan. Lots of hot fresh food and groceries too. Worth the stop.

This Japanese store is amazing! You can basically find everything here, from groceries and snacks to souvenirs and beauty products. It’s such a fun place to visit, full of variety and good prices. Worth stopping by if you’re in Honolulu!

Must shop store! If you like unique foods, drinks, gadgets, snacks, etc...this is the place! Food vendors at the entrance are great. Food in the store has an enormous selection that is hard to beat! Highly recommend for the inquisitive and seasoned shoppers.

Was so excited to visit my first Don Q store, and I was kind of disappointed. The store looked in disarray, very disorganized, and a mess everywhere - especially the makeup section. Yes, there was so much stuff here and great kawaii things and produce, etc. But overall, it's just like a cheaper version of a Mitsuwa, in my opinion. Still was cool to visit. Oh, parking is crazy! There's never parking here. We had to park in the additional parking garage and walk over.

This place has so much stuff! From the hot and prepared foods, to a full grocery store, to Japanese and Korean skin care, and all of the other items you might expect an everything store to carry. It also isn’t as crowded or cramped as the ones in Tokyo. It was a nice experience shopping here, and it took me a couple of hours to look around, without being able to buy a lot. They have a lot of Japanese snacks and drinks as well. I look forward to going back here in my next trip.

This place was such a great place to check out. So much to look at and so much to choose from. We bought some cool items we could not get anywhere in the states. It's a must when in Waikiki.

Such a great grocery store, it is HUGE! They have so many different fruits and snacks and ingredients, pretty much anything you could want is there. They have a bathroom too, and are right next to a strip mall of restaurants. Definitely check it out! They have good fresh food too!

I tried the oxtail ramen here and I didn’t quite like it. The soup was far too salty and oily, and the ramen itself was overwhelmingly salty—it honestly tasted like something from the grocery store rather than a fresh, crafted bowl. The soup base also reminded me of pre-packaged spice mixes you’d find at the store. On the positive side, the oxtail portion was generous although it’s a bit dry. I also tried the dumplings, but they were very oily. Overall, the flavors didn’t feel balanced, and I wouldn’t come back for the ramen.

Ramen Nakamura is hands-down the best ramen I’ve had outside of Japan. I really enjoyed the bowl of spicy ramen; it was very flavorful and served in a generous bowl. My only issue was that the bill arrived early, just as I was about to order another bowl of that delicious noodle goodness. Oh well! I paid and went off in search of more ramen. Enjoy!

My GF and her dad went here for ramen, him and i got the half size spicy ramen with a combo c of pork garlic fried rice and gyoza. The broth was sooo good and the pork was perfect in all 3 dishes. Its A LOT of ramen in a regular size so keep that in mind. The kid size is smaller than the half size ramen. I highly suggest coming here.

My never ending quest to try ramen from different shops continues! Before I try any ramen shop, I study the menu and look at the pictures as if I were going to be tested on it lol. I just like to be prepared and don't want to be surprised or disappointed. ATMOSPHERE: The shop is tiny, with just a u-shaped counter that seats about 20 people or so. We had late dinner, around 10:15pm on a Friday night, so we got seats without any wait. They do have queue ropes at the front door, so you know they get slammed during peak hours, only confirmed by the photos you see on Yelp. FOOD: Oxtail Shoyu Ramen Combo This is the only combo that comes with a regular sized bowl of ramen, so the server told me. Regardless of the menu description stating "Shio flavor," I was able to opt for shoyu. It also came with 3 pieces of gyoza, and small fried rice. The ramen broth tasted really good at first sip, but then became just a salty, beef broth-like flavor, without any depth or character. It came with about 3 pieces of tender oxtail which I picked at, as I'm not one to suck on bones. A separate dish of grated ginger and splash of shoyu was advised as a dipping sauce for the oxtail. The noodles were white, chewy, and went well with the dish. Toppings were slivers of fresh ginger, celery, white & green onions, garlic chips, bean sprouts, and fresh mushrooms. Not a fan. Gyoza The 3 pieces were perfectly seared and tender, with a tasty filling. One of the best I've had. Highly recommended. Fried Rice Very mildly flavored with green onions, egg, and bits of char siu. Mainstream at best. Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen My spouse's dish. I do not care for plain tonkotsu broths as the color turns me off. I had a spoonful of broth just to taste it. I was surprised at the depth in flavor which was slightly creamy, slightly savory, and very subtle. SERVICE: The two elderly ladies (who look alike) were sweet yet silent, and did a lot of hand gesturing. They brought me the wrong ramen but quickly corrected it. Due to the signage that states to present a "membership card" when ordering because it can't be changed when cashing out, I asked one of the ladies if they do a kamaaina discount. She smiled, made the palms up gesture and sort of directed it to the other lady helping her, so I took it as to "please ask her." So, I waited for the other lady to finish what she was doing, then asked the same thing, and she replied "YES! YES! OKAY!!!!" like I was being aggressive. *shrugs* I have no idea lol. TIP: Cash only. OVERALL: Fair pricing, okay ramen. Not a fan of the oxtail version.

We ordered three bowls of ramen — one spicy oxtail ramen, which is their signature dish. The broth was okay, but the oxtail meat wasn’t very tender and a bit hard to chew, nothing really impressive. We also had one miso and one shoyu ramen, both quite average and not particularly tasty. The gyoza was honestly the worst Japanese dumplings I’ve ever had. The fried rice was decent, though far too salty. Overall, it feels more like a fast-food style restaurant with minimal service, though they do refill water frequently. If you just want a quick meal, it’s an acceptable option.

Super delicious! We had the fresh fruit rainbow pancakes, pineapple pork chops, chicken strips, and Kailua pork Benedict on taro bun. Everything tasted great, and we will definitely eat there again! Servings were generous and could be shared.

The pancake was good and big in portion. The coffee can be refilled for free. But that was American style coffee which I cant drink too much. Overall it is nice!

The first time I came to Pioneer Saloon was in 2016 and just visited a second time in 2025. A local tour guide recommended Pioneer and the food here is amazing! I got the ribeye steak bowl with multigrain rice. The steak was tender on the inside, juicy, and charred and tasty on the outside. I also ordered the ahi tuna steak cooked rare and it was fresh and delicious. I would eat here everyday on vacation if I could. The restaurant is a short 20 minute walk from Waikiki right next to Diamondhead. This is a hidden gem located in a quaint little town away from the glitz and glam of the strip. The ambience inside is also very cool with postcards and various trinkets and knick knacks for sale.

Stumbled upon Pioneer Saloon in Maps and from article reviews and was insistent on giving it a try. They have an extensive menu that is absolutely hard to beat at the price point. We shared 2 plates, Yakiniku Beef and the Furikake Ahi Katsu. So delicious. There is a lot to try around Waikiki but this is a definite high recommend for casual delicious. Note that this is an order at window and sit in the venue. They have plenty of seating and the service is excellent. Don't change anything at all... You are perfect!

We ordered Ribeye Steak and Korean Yakiniku Beef. Steak was amazing but Yakiniku beef was just ok…I would order something else next time.

Don't let the name throw you, it's not a dark dank Saloon! Which is a good thing, because their food is AMAZING. I got the rib eye bowl, which comes with a FAT cut of seasoned rib eye steak on top of rice (I got brown), macaroni pasta salad, and green salad with sesame dressing. All for like $18. Unheard of in Waikiki, this dish would be easily $60 at any restaurant on the beach, if not more. Worth every penny and the atmosphere is laid back and local. Super nice people working, I will be back!

Cute little restaurant. Not expensive compared to other restaurants. Usually other restaurants are expensive here in Honolulu. Food is good and yum. TBH, I love how beautiful Hawaii is, so I was a bit surprised that this restaurant still uses plastic containers for takeout and even dine in. It would be great to see them switch to more sustainable packaging. That’s the only thing I was a little disappointed about.

Absolutely one of my favorite places to get lunch or dinner around Diamondhead. Any dish is great. My favorites are the salmon, dishes, and the steak dishes. Love love love.

You order at the counter and you can see the staff making your food. I got a chicken burrito with black beans, cilantro lime rice, corn roasted salsa and cheese - I think that was everything. They had fun folding it! My wife got a chicken quesadilla. The quesadilla took longer to get than I thought it would. Everything tasted fantastic! The staff was very friendly and engaging. A great place for a quick meal!!!

OMG - Literally. What a surprise. Delicious food, great environment, and a very welcoming crew. I had the braised beef now. It was just perfect. The only downside: not many options for those who don't eat spicy.

A popular brekkie place down the street is always jammed, so we gave this grill a go. It was a good choice. We were seated immediately, and ordered at the counter. My wife got the Cowboy Huevos Rancheros and I got the breakfast tacos with carne asada. The portions are very substantial - we didn't need to eat lunch. The coffee was good and plentiful. Best of all are the house-made salsas. We lived in Texas for a while, and these salsas are as good as anything we had in Texas.

Waiola Shave Ice is a classic spot with super smooth, finely shaved ice and tons of fun flavor options. It’s a great treat on a hot day and definitely a must-try in Honolulu! That said, the syrups can be really sweet — I’d recommend asking for “less syrup” or “less sweet” if you’re not into super sugary desserts. Still delicious, just a bit intense if you’re watching your sugar intake.

The reviews aren’t exaggerating; when they say it’s soft, they mean SOFT! The ice literally melts the second it hits your tongue. The only downside is you have to enjoy it quickly on a hot day, or it’ll melt into a slushy puddle. The syrup was evenly spread, with no bland ice spots. Very delicious, and there are plenty of benches outside for seating!

I have already tried the Waiola Shave Ice in Kaimuki, and today I am trying out this one in McCully. I got the Waiola Rainbow Jumbo and it was great. The workers are very friendly and helpful and this place is busy with so many people coming by regularly. This is a great spot.

Came here after watching the Mark Weins Honolulu food tour video and it did not disappoint. Got condensed milk on some fruit flavors as well as the azumi bowl and both were very refreshing with well balanced flavors. There is also a small store selling their merchandise.

When you think of Hawaii, shave ice comes to mind! You can enjoy it at many spots, but so far this place is the best. The ice is incredibly fluffy, and the azuki beans, condensed milk, and mochi are all amazing! Definitely a must-try. Although it’s “kakigori” brought from Japan, the shop is run by a family from Taiwan.

I first saw this place recommended all over TikTok, and I’ll admit—I was a little skeptical. But my followers didn’t steer me wrong. The line was steady, the flavors were endless, and the vibe felt just right. There’s plenty of outdoor seating, making it a great stop to cool off with friends or just soak in the sunshine with something sweet. If I lived nearby, I’d be here daily. So glad I made the stop while in town—this won’t be my last visit!

This is a great, low cost, quick and delicious option for lunch from right in the Outrigger Beach Resort. It's located just outside of the pool area making it quite convenient for a quick, affordable lunch. The sandwiches were good but our favorites were the Super Energy and the PB&J Powerhouse shakes.

Hidden gem right off the beach across from Duke’s! The sandwiches here are fresh, loaded with crisp veggies, and stacked on the softest bread. Perfect beach bite: light, flavorful, and super satisfying. We got chips, the honey lemon iced tea, and they give you a slice of pineapple on the side which makes it feel like the full local experience. Friendly staff, quick service, and the perfect spot to grab a fresh meal before heading back to the sand.

Awesome service & food. I was looking for something wholesome and delicious and Pai’s gets top marks. The Turkey & Avocado sandwich was stacked with filling & fresh crunchy veg. And the kale orange pineapple banana smoothie was clean and refreshing. Make sure to go inside the Outrigger Resort Mall area (like you’re going to Duke’s). Pai’s is tucked in a corner adjacent to Duke’s. Google directed us down an alley leading to the beach, but you’ll have better success if you enter from the road.

Wow. I did not want to eat here. I thought it would be typical overpriced hotel food that tasted terrible. Boy was I wrong. I got a tuna salad on a croissant with cheese hub got the chicken and egg salad on wheat plus a can of soda. It cost $25.65. They made the food fresh to order, the sandwiches were huge. I will definitely be back here everyday until we leave. There are so many other things to try. The salads and fruits looked great as well. Super friendly staff. Fast meal

Your out in Waikiki, hungry and want something that isnt the typical fried fare. Then find this hidden gem. This is not you typical sandwich stop. All of the sandwiches are a meal. The chicken honey mustard sandwich is loaded with roasted chicken (not sliced), fresh spinach, bean sprouts, cucumbers, and carrot shavings. Amazing flavor and a price that doesn't require a second mortgage. Very friendly staff.

I read about these hot dogs years ago and it was a must taste for our trip to Honolulu. Bread was fresh and delicious. I got the medium garlic lemon sauce with Hawaiian mustard and pineapple relish. All beef dog was juicy and perfectly complemented by the sauces and mustard. Being able to eat a hot dog with lots of sauces without getting all over me was a special treat. I saw that Anthony Boudain (RIP) had visited their stand in the past and was impressed as well. Toasting a whole loaf(similar to an unsliced hoagie roll) on a spike made for a unique experience. I’m only sorry I didn’t get a photo before I took a bite. Sooo worth the wait!

Wow. This is not just a hot dog stand. I was was skeptical because hot dogs are not usually something I go for but this hands down is the best and will be on our itinerary every time we come back to Hawaii. The cashier was friendly, the bread as tasty as any Hawaiian roll. The toppings really make the dog though. Flavorful and surprising. You don’t expect the flavors to go well together but they do!

This is worth seekimg out! Unique and incredible! Ordered the signature poi polish dog and the Hawaiian polish dog. Both were amazing! I normally don't Iike hot dogs, but these were definitely worth the try!! Also, the li hing lemonade is awesome! The owner was very personable and chatted passionately about his wonderful, fresh sauces, etc. Overall, 10 out of 10. Really. Cool, fun, and delicious. Also, we made it a point to try puka dog on kauai, as well. Trust me, hula dog is the clear winner.

Absolutely amazing. Hula Dog is hands down one of the most unique and delicious food experiences on Oahu. The sweet Hawaiian bread is perfectly soft with just the right amount of chew and the way they toast it from the inside is genius. I tried the mango relish with the spicy garlic lemon sauce and a polish sausage and it was a flavor explosion. The balance of sweet savory and spicy is unlike any hot dog I have ever had. Plus Dennis was super friendly and the vibes were laid back and fun. Whether you are a local or just visiting this place is a must try. Definitely a five star gem.

I was told I HAD to go to Hula Dog while in Honolulu. The Classic hot dog was fine. The Hula Polish was much tastier. I did enjoy the pineapple lemonade. Honestly I probably wouldn't eat there again.

Food truck located in a courtyard with other food trucks. I messed up ordering-stumbled on ordering relish. I’m used to “yes or no” for relish, not four flavor options. Apologies for frustrating the guy working (he was really cool - after we got past my brain fade lol - explained the bread recipe is their own). I ordered a polish sausage on the white roll with original garlic lemon sauce, pineapple relish (note tropical relish isn’t just one option, it has four flavors to choose from) and Hawaiian mustard. It’s a big portion, glad I ordered only one. Lemonade is good too. In hindsight, I should’ve ordered the purple roll. Cool experience.

Delicious and freshly made malasadas and conveniently located in the Royal Hawaiian food court! No matter if you order plain or any cream or jelly filled flavor… you will not be disappointed!!!

YUM! Made several visits to Penny’s during our trip to Waikiki. Penny’s makes every donut to order so it takes a bit longer but totally worth the wait. Take them to go as the food court in Royal Hawaiian Center is not the best spot to enjoy these sweet treats. The ube malasada is fun for its purple hue but not the most flavorful. Again, YUM!

OK, so I’ve tried all of the Malasadas and I’ve been to this place twice because it’s been amazing! The original custard the custard and Nutella is absolutely amazing. That’s the only two I would highly recommend if you had to choose. It would definitely go with the custard filled as my favorite one! And you’ll thank me later!

Delicious! They were made to order, so they came out super fresh and hot. The dough was a pleasant surprise — lighter and more delicate than the heavy, thick-filled donuts I’m used to. Honestly, this should be the standard. The fillings were just okay. I misread the Nutella cream and was expecting actual Nutella. I definitely would have preferred that over the flavor they used though.

I didn't expect much for a food court place. But these Malasadas were amazing. They came out hot and fresh. The custards were amazing I especially liked the ube. They make fresh jam every day. The person who helped me was kind and helpful. I only regret nit getting all the flavors.

I ordered the wonton udon extra large for $11.25 with a barbeque stick for $4 and I was so full after barely finishing. The soup was so good to the last drop and the udon was so chewy and tasty. The barbeque stick was a real solid beef steak with a very nice terry sauce, just perfect. The price is really cheap and the service very friendly. This is definitely a gem even after 79 years.

Found this place last minute when I was around the area. I'm so glad I did! Hole in the wall, local gem, mom and pop shop. The food was so delicious! I got the Wongton min, that one comes with noodles. The wonton soup just comes with wonton only FYI. I also got a bbq beef stick. The day I went, it was really hot, humid I was craving for something cool but stumbled on this place cuz I was craving noodles. The broth was so good and really just soothed my soul. Everything was amazing and I wish I got the larger bowl. The follow day I took my friend and she said this was the best wonton soup she had in a very long time (since her mom passed). We both really enjoyed this place and recommend, will be going again next time we visit Oahu! This place is small and parking is limited but ppl don't stay long. The ppl who work are really nice and this place is always busy so be patient if they don't sit you right away, even if a table is open. They got you, they know what they are going if they have been in business for 79 years! 😬

Absolutely delicious. The saimin, the wonton min and the saidon were all good. The saidon is saimin with saimin noodles and udon noodles mixed together. The barbecue sticks are very good as well. Some things to note: no AC, so, if you need AC, you may be uncomfortable. Also, I think they soup stock includes dried fish or other dried seafood. The smell is very strong, so some who dislike that may want to avoid the place. We all loved it.

This humble noodle shop is my most frequented restaurant on the island. The quality is consistently excellent, and the food is truly affordable. Their service is prompt and thorough. I can be in and out in 30 mins with a full belly! Though their noodles are the main attraction, don't miss out on the BBQ sticks; those are to die for.

A friend brought me here as their spouse loves them. ATMOSPHERE: The parking lot fits about 6 cars and smells like urine. The "restaurant" reminds me of eating in an old Hawaii home's wash house, complete with the lack of decor, mess, and smooth cement floors. The place seats about 12 comfortably, so we did have about a 20 minute wait. There is no climate control, the kitchen is right next to the dining area, and the breeze blows the heat and smoke from the grill into the dining room and out the front door. Yes it was hot and yes we came out smelling like we barbecued our own food. FOOD: Won Tun Saimin I got the large size which is comparable to other places. The noodles were slightly overdone, there were about 5 or 6 won tun with pork filling, slices of char siu, and green onions. The clear broth tastes exactly like Zippy's saimin to me, which is a good thing, but it wasn't searing hot, just kind of hot, which was disappointing. Pricing was very good for the portion. Barbeque Stick A single skewer with marinated teriyaki meat. I'm not a fan of teriyaki meat but this was really good. Very tasty (sweet & salty) and tender. SERVICE: It's first come, first served. If the inside is full, wait outside until a spot opens up then go right on in. There's a simple menu on the side walls and they come to you to place the order. Our male server was patient and friendly. This is a mom & pop kind of place so don't expect full-restaurant service. When you're done, the window left of the kitchen door handles payment (cash only, I believe.) OVERALL: Good food, great prices, but the parking sucks as well as the comfort while eating there.

Very simple menu posted on the wall and the servers were very friendly and attentive. Saimin was good, the broth was light and matched well with the noodles and the slices of char siu. Was surprised by the bbq skewers they were really good, would recommend them with a bowl of noodles. Will definitely be coming back. Just an FYI no AC so it can get a bit warm inside.

Açaí, Monkey, Blue Dream, I Lava You bowls were all excellent! There was only one guy working but he was super friendly and helpful despite being short staffed. Would totally recommend! Consistency and flavor were all great!

Delicious food and unique offerings. It’s in the mall, otherwise I’m sure it receives a 5 for atmosphere. The service was helpful and patient. They helped my young daughter find something she liked (they made her something off the menu). It’s expensive but, if you have the money, totally worth it.

I reallyyyyy wanted to fall in love with this spot because the staff was so nice and accommodating with the fact that their açaí is already mixed with honey so it wouldn’t be fully vegan… I chose to still try it and leave out what else I could from the bowl that wasn’t vegan/already mixed in — but the açaí mixed with dates wasn’t doing it for me; the saddest part is the hair in my açaí bowl 😭 (sorry but I must be honest) I took it out and still ate most of the bowl because I was already home at that point 😔

The design and decor of the space look very good, featuring a modern aesthetic with clean lines and tasteful accents. It’s not crowded, offering a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. I chose the papaya bowl and upgraded it with a smoothie, which was quite enjoyable. However, I expected the bowl to be larger; it turned out to be quite tiny, roughly the size of a small cereal bowl. The price was around $16-18, which I feel does not provide sufficient value given the portion size.

Friendly staff and short waiting time for getting the food. I ordered the tropical bowl and would 100% have it again. The only downside is that it’s located in a food court, with makes it a noisy place. But if you’re fine with noise that won’t be a problem.

A pleasant little eatery of Hawaiian food. It doesn’t serve butter fish, so I had a beef stew that was tasty, but too salty for my taste. W also tries the salad with Kuala Pork, which was fine. There’s a large parking paid parking lot.

We were the only ones in the joint at lunch time on a Sunday, but I was hopeful that the food would be ono. The words that best describes this place are “It could have been worse I guess.” The food was just okay. Service and atmosphere were slightly less than okay. If you’re thinking about the broke dah mouth type of local grindz that you can get at Helena’s or even Asahi Grill, unfortunately this place doesn’t come close. I always want to support local but sadly it’s hard to do when the utensils given are dirty from the start, cups of water with oily streaks floating on top, with some of the food looking like old reheated leftovers and the apathetic staff who seemed bothered that customers showed up.

Oahu Grill is a small family business style restaurant. When we arrived on a Saturday during lunch time, there was only one person on staff and he greeted us with familiarity. The space is small and doesn’t offer much in the way of decorations. We ordered one of the large plates and split between our group as we were food touring the area and he was kind enough to give us larger portions than is typically served so we could try lots of options while still feeling satisfied. The quality of the food was traditional home-style, like your grandma would make, but of course Hawaiian. The chicharron was delicious, but the meat was a bit dry and tough. Dipping it in the soy and vinegar sauce helped add moisture and also a nice acidic kick. We also got the squid lu’au, which was a bit odd to me as someone who’s never had it, but the taro leave mixture was really delicious and paired with the rice beautifully. The laulau pork was my favorite on the plate because every bite was tender and juicy. The poi was not for me as the texture reminded me of pudding, but made of taro root and it was cold. It’s more of a personal preference though. I loved ending the meal with the coconut jelly. Even though the textures and flavors aren’t the same, it reminded me of the effect arroz con leche has at the end of a spanish meal, probably because of the milk aspect. Delicious!

Food was really good, sadly it was close to the end of the evening so they were out of a few things. Friendly staff and quick service here. Had the Laulau and kaluha pork salad!! The pork wrapped in the tea leaves was delicious. Tried poi for the first time, I see why people add sugar and milk, it is very bland in taste. I'm a fan of trying new things so if you haven't tried it please do. The haupia is light in flavor, just know it's a bit more firm than you may imagine. Highly recommend a stop in.

The authentic Hawaiian food was excellent. The server was fantastic and explained the menu items and how they were prepped. Even provided samples of items we had not ordered. The flavors of pork and other items had a better taste than some of the larger restaurants in the tourist areas. We were told everything was made in house. Loved the friendliness and local fare. Would definitely come back again! Prices are very reasonable as well.

Traditional Hawaiian food is always a bit pricy but the poi here was absolutely delicious and all the food very 'ono. It's a great way to try several different dishes. Especially loved the squid luau and the triple tomato stew - both so flavorful!

Authentic Hawaiian cuisine! And SUPER tasty! Super recommend for anyone wanting an authentic experience. The kids liked the Kahlua pork mixed with rice, so there are options for picky eaters 👍 Located within a shopping area. You need to pay for parking, but it's like .75 cents. And you pay before exiting so don't try to exit without physically paying beforehand.

We got the mahi sandwich and the loco moco bowl. The fish sandwich was really good, but I found the loco moco to be a little lacking. I want to try again at the main location rather than this mall location.

Decent place to get a decent meal. Burgers do not come with sides unless you order them. A side order of fries costs almost $5. This might be a Rainbow Drive-In thing, but seems to be common in Hawaii.

I ordered the pork cutlet. Worker’s on the kitchen dont wear hair covers/net because when they served my order it has hair on it. They didn’t even bother to apologize properly and just grabbed my food and “redo” the order again. It was BLAND and the breading was just awful. The macaroni tasted sour. My food and experience was just straight up bad. -1/10

Stopped by here after Rehab to pick up lunch for the husband. He likes the hamburger steak plate here with gravy all over and their fries. I normally would never miss to pick up my favorite slushie here but i had too much to carry today ☹️ but i love their strawberry slushie and sometimes i will get it with vanilla ice cream. Yum!! 😍 A MUST try! Im not a fan of the burgers because i don’t care for the bun. Its too thick & fluffy for me - i will insert a pic from previous time i got takeout from here. Shoyu chicken is worth a try. Menu is small compared to the Kapahulu location i always went to but still good. Friendly employees too which is always a plus. Will update more here in future reviews 👍

Yeah went here out of nostalgia. It doesn’t live up to it at all. I had the loco moco and it was terrible. The burgers were thin and dry and tasteless like frozen burgers. The eggs were super undercooked even for sunny side up eggs and had shells in it. My partner had the boneless chicken, which tasted spoiled. We threw it away. Thirty dollars wasted. Go Yummy’s instead. I Probably won’t try the original Rainbows either after this.

Maybe the versions not in the mall are a little better. Food wasn't bad just not as good as I thought it would be. We all got a variety. Chicken sandwich was pretty great and fresh. I have the Loco moco which was alright. For sure edible, I finished it. Low quality burger patty but still not bad. We had a burger also not bad. Tots and fries pretty great. Basic. Mac salad was way too much mayo but I hear thats how it's supposed to be which I understand. Honestly BEST thing was that slushy float. YUM! Anyhow overall not a bad stop but would try to go to one not in the mall.

Ordered hamburger steak plate today and could have been a.great meal bcause its one of my fave.but to my dismay the food has no taste at all. Should have put a little dash of salt if not on the patty at least on the gravy.

Nicest place. On the beach. Great lights and live music. Took 20 minutes to the waiter to reach me for order but other then that was very nice and welcoming. I had the “prime rib staek” which was definitely corn fed and tasted like cheapest steak I have ever eaten. Look at the color in the picture it was curiously red🤨 French fries was cool but not really throughly made. Mashed potatoes was perfect and freshly made.

Tasty food, but very corporate feeling. You could literally taste the corporate in every bite. IYKYK. The calimari was phenomenal, though. They definitely don't make it like that on the mainland. They're not the little rings we're used to. They were big, meaty morsels. Main entrees were underwhelming. Again, see "corporate" comments above. I'm blanking on our server's name, which is extremely unfortunate, because she was top notch. I really, really wanted to give her a shout-out here, but then vacation happened and I'm just getting around to leaving reviews now that I'm home. Brittany, maybe? I hope so, because she deserves the recognition. Beautiful ocean views, but again, the whole place feels a bit corporate for my liking. The buffet looked ok, but pretty skippable, so we opted to order off the menu instead. The hula pie was simple but delicious. If you like ice cream cake, it's 100% going to be your jam.

What an incredible dining experience! Glad we had made reservations...although we were told it wasn't super busy. Got our tables after getting a drink in the bar. Our server Mario was exceptional. Started out with the poke tacos. Wife ordered rhe prime rib and I got the filet. The prime rib was enormous and it was a small cut! Cooked to perfection. My filet was the perfect size and also prepared expertly. Added a visit to the all you can eat salad bar and was not disappointed. Would definitely recommend for a great meal. And if you get Mario for a server you will be in for a treat.

Fun location. It is a classic. The food at the beach bar is tacos burgers etc. Good quality the drinks are well priced. Typical entre around $20 Riley was great with suggestions and recommendations.

I'll always remember my trip to Oahu and my bday dinner at Dukes. The atmosphere was amazing.I love the decor and of course eating dinner on the beach at sunset was incredible. I had top-notch service. The server Frank was incredible and the manager. She came and checked on all of the tables and was very friendly.

The Hawaiian-style casual vibe, paired with a fresh selection of fish and steak, made every meal memorable. We were seated right by the beach, and hearing the waves while enjoying dinner truly added to the island feel. The outdoor atmosphere was absolutely perfect: relaxed, breezy, and so scenic. And let’s talk about dessert… their Hula Pie is a bomb! Sweet, creamy, and the perfect way to end a beachside meal. 🌴🍽️🌊 If you’re looking for island favorites with an unbeatable view and delicious food, Duke’s is a must-visit!

Pulled Pork Nachos, Coconut Shrimp, Fish Tacos, Mai Tai, Blended POG with vodka, and Coconut Mojito were yummy! We sat at the table area close the flower stand and it was pretty hot, would be nice if they added fans to the area to circulate the air. Cyerrah K was our server, she was very nice and attentive.

Great spot for people watching if you sit out on the patio! Got here at 4:30p on a Sunday and got seated right away. Caramel macchiato was delicious. That and the bread were the best part of the meal. Pasta carbonara with chicken was dry as a bone. We asked for more sauce, and they brought just the smallest amount. Not at all enough for the massive pile of pasta. Crusted Chicken Romano had a very bland sauce. I added salt, but it still didn’t taste good. We ordered lunch portions a little before 5 and had plenty to eat. Since the pasta came dry, our server made up for it by giving us a sundae on the house. He was full of energy and very friendly.

From the moment we were seated, JJ made us feel genuinely welcomed and valued. Even though we could see she was managing several tables, she never once made us feel rushed or overlooked. Her ability to connect with her guests and provide attentive, personalized service is truly exceptional. JJ went above and beyond to ensure our experience was special. She took the time to chat with us, made thoughtful recommendations, and somehow made us feel like we were her only table. I did order the meal she recommended, and she was spot on. Such quality food here The highlight of the night was when she surprised us with a complimentary dessert after learning we were celebrating our honeymoon — such a thoughtful and heartfelt gesture that made our evening unforgettable. JJ exemplifies what outstanding customer service looks like. Her professionalism, warmth, and genuine care turned a simple dinner into a beautiful memory. She seemed like such a down to earth girl. Always a great experience. Meals are delicious and generous. Staff are accommodating and friendly. Prices are decent. It’s a must stop and experience when in Waikīkī. The complimentary bread and butter is so good to start with. I recommend the Parmesan herb crusted chicken with mash potato’s and green beans. Big meal, great quality and taste and real mash potato’s ! Good bar with all the selections of beers, red wines, spirits. Cheesecake a huge selection with a taste for everyone.

Loved the food so much we came back a second time!! Service from Jackie was a stand out too. Best pina colada ever. Favourite dishes were the katsu chicken salad and the crispy chicken and shrimp with pineapple and rice. Def only need one serving of cheesecake between 3-4 people. Delicious but very rich.

What an outstanding server Iverson is! He was polite, offer suggestions on food and dessert, he arrived quickly with our drinks and bread. My husband and I also observed his amazing hospitality with the table next to us. He engaged with the young children at their eye level as the children told them what they would like to drink. Awesome job, Iverson! Meanwhile, our food was amazing and the presentation was outstanding. Iverson suggested my husband’s meal after realizing the original meal that was chosen was no longer available. And oh boy, it was so good!

Wings were small and the nachos were okay, but everything else was excellent. The Thai salad was fresh, the tacos were surprisingly delicious, and the service was great. I’ve eaten at Cheesecake Factory in different countries and it never disappoints. Each spot has its own menu so it’s very unique. It’s always a solid choice, especially for a quick grab-and-go by the beach.

If you've eaten at Cheesecake Factory then you know what to expect. Food and service were both good. Our server, Ariceli was great! Was disappointed to learn that they did away with the combination plates since our last visit. I recommend making a reservation as its almost always busy here and let's you bypass the long line to get on the wait list.

I heard a lot about Eggs ‘n Things so I had to give it a try! Upon arriving, I expected there would be a wait as we had gotten there around 8am. Overall wait was around 30ish minutes. Upon entering we were greeted and drinks were served pretty quickly. We then met our server and put our order in. I had gotten the Plantation Pork Chop which is pretty much a piece of Ham. It tasted nothing like a pork chop unfortunately. My girlfriend had gotten the Eggs Benedict which when eating, there were eggshells in it. I’m not sure why but I expected a bit more, of an experience, but it fell a bit short unfortunately.

Stopped by Eggs ‘n Things for breakfast, and it was a great experience from start to finish. The food came out hot and fresh — everything tasted just right. A big shout-out to Kent and Giselle, our table servers, friendly, professional, and made sure we were well taken care of the whole time. Excellent hospitality and great service all around. There was a short wait, but it moved quickly thanks to their iPad check-in system — just make sure you sign in on the iPad when you arrive so you’re in line to be seated. Definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area and want a hearty, satisfying breakfast! ☕🍳🥞

🌸5 on 5🌸 The breakfast here was absolutely delicious! My favorite part was the coconut syrup with the pancakes it added such a unique and tropical flavor. The scrambled eggs were very tasty too, with a subtle coconut undertone that made them even more enjoyable. I especially loved the French toast; it had a soft, cinnamon flavor that was just perfect. I highly recommend this place to tourists! If you can, try to grab a seat by the windows overlooking the beach it makes the whole experience even more special.🌺

30 minute wait, food was very good, views of the beach while we ate. They were busy, I didn't like the '1 free refill' on some drinks, so we had water as well. Too hot on the beach to not hydrate properly. I never did get a refill on the mango unsweet tea, but did get one for the water even though I asked the waitress which came by with the pitcher of water. The Moco Loco was very good, good sized portioning. This restaurant does have restrooms, unlike the McDonalds and the permanent food trucks like Blue Ocean, which told us to go to 'that hotel right there', which by the way used room key cards to access the lobby restrooms.

My child wanted pancakes, so we stopped by — and it was such a great choice. The pancakes, omelet, and coffee were all delicious, and the view of Waikiki Beach from our table was absolutely beautiful. It was the perfect place to enjoy our last morning in Hawaii. Mahalo!

Local breakfast spot on the main strip of Waikiki and beach front view. I recommend getting here early; I was sat within 5 minutes at 7 am, but the line outside quickly grew within 15-30 mins. The food was very delicious, homestyle breakfast. My family got the blueberry crepes and kids plate. The crepes were filled with blueberries and had tasty burnt ends, make sure to ask for the macadamia syrup. I got the furikake nut crusted ahi rare with rice and sunny side up eggs and it was very good. I plan om returning one more time on my vacation. Skip Cheeseburger In Paradise and come here!

Why'd they name it Goofy? I don't know, it's an ordinary cafe'. The food was good with ample portions. The taste was good, not great,not spectacular but a solid good. It just likeom used to make if she was a mediocre cook. This place is the same, they have their great dishes and the majority are good. It will fill you up and not make I feel cheated. The lemonade is great! I would back just for a tall cool sip of that sweet and sour nectar. It's an upstairs establishment, do if you can't climb steps, bring someone to carry you. I'd do it for a lemonade. (Disclaimer: if you are height and weight proportionate). So the view of the street is nice. You can sit and watch the people walking by. It is a small place so be prepared to wait. That's about it, it's another local grinds cafe'

Got there 2 mins to 7am when they open and we missed the sign up for first round of tables. We were a table of 2 and landed at number 16 on the waitlist. I'd recommend coming 10 to 15 mins early to sign up on the wait list sheet. Service is excellent. The staff are friendly and the lady spoke fluent Japanese. Those who couldn't wait on the wait list were offered to do take out. Atmosphere is very Hawaiian. The tables and chairs were the theme of a shack house and Hawaiian ukulele music was playing in the background. Cute restaurant on a second floor of a building. We got in at 7:35am and ordered by 7:40. Food and drinks came by 7:50am. Food was so delicious we finished at 7:58am. Papaya smoothie says limited, so I'm not sure if it's seasonal or until sold out. Was very good and can taste the lime in the smoothie. My friend had the POG mix. Strong guava flavour which is good. Not as sweet as my smoothie probably because of the orange juice. We shared the big breakfast loco moco. It was one of the best dishes I've had. I want to come back for the lunch loco moco which comes with fried rice instead of brown rice. The hamburger was slightly charred which gave it such a good flavour. The gravy reminded me of a Japanese hayashi rice. That gravy was savory and had butter flavours. Sunny side eggs had a crispy rim on the eggs. Loved it all and we had side plates so my friend who didn't like her rice draining in sauce while I loved my rice swimming in sauce could both satisfy our tastes. Highly recommend for their loco moco. I will come here everytime I come back to honolulu now. Update: I came back for lunch on a Tuesday. No line up and seating was relaxed. Ordered the lunch loco moco, green pasta, and pineapple iced tea. The lunch loco moco is $5 more than the breakfast loco moco. It was worth the extra $5. Instead of just brown rice, it comes with fried rice with kale, corn, and pork. My friend found it a bit salty after a few bites, but I loved it even more than the breakfast loco moco. It was really tasty and paired well with the pineapple iced tea. The pineapple iced tea was sweet but not too sweet. Bonus, it has free refills. Before leaving I wanted one more refill and the server asked if I wanted to take it to go. Service is excellent and staff are so friendly. Different servers for both visits, but everyone was attentive and all smiles. My friend had the green pasta, she really liked the nutty flavours. I tasted it and it had pesto and macadamia nuts. The garlic shrimp was good, but I felt the shrimp was slightly overcooked. Pasta was saucy, but texture of the pasta was very good and not too soft. Not the dish for me, but my friend said it's one of the best pastas she has had.

Hit this place right in the middle of my morning run. The Hawaiian Omelette was soooo good and the Taro Muffin substitute - go for it! That muffin was so good I ran with the other half in my pocket on the way home… not recommended but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. This place filled my tummy in a way it hasnt been filled in a while, you know that good full feeling that reaches your heart? Yeah, that one.😋 I came by myself and got a table in about 15-20 minutes (Arrived around 7:45am). The staff is so friendly and add to the ambiance. Definitely hit it up. This visit I went with savory, next time I wanna try the sweet stuff 🧇 🤙🏽

Don't let the name make you think this place isn't worth the trip, it definitely is. Walk up, sign the wait-list and wait to get seated. We had bfast here twice this week. The acai bowls are huge, and they are not shy with the amount of fruit added to the acai bowls, or the French toast, so your money is well spent. Coffee is good, the open-air atmosphere is very relaxed. It's an older building, but done up nicely inside.

We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and decided to try Goofy’s for breakfast. I ordered the sweet bread French toast with berries—delicious, and definitely something I’d recommend. My husband went with the loco moco; he enjoyed it but felt it was pretty average compared to others he tried during our trip. When you arrive, you’ll need to add your name to the waitlist. We waited about 40 minutes before being seated. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so wait times can be long, though it seemed that parties of two were seated much quicker than larger groups.

This is a must do in Honolulu! Especially if you are close to or staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village! We ate her last time visiting 7 years ago - we’re thrilled it was still here. And loved it just as much this time. It’s a smaller space - and there appears to be a short line all morning - but don’t be discouraged- it is so so worth waiting 5-15 minutes. So many great dishes to choose from! Their Benedict’s are crazy delicious! Had their vegetarian one - and recommend trying it with the taro muffin! I decided on the Morning Power Salad (can you tell we were trying for healthy for this meal - lol!). Yikes was it amazingly good! And you can tell from the picture - very healthy too! I could not finish it so - have a second meal for later! All the vegetables and fruits were so fresh and crisp and delicious! Could not resist the fresh pineapple - and glad I had poor will power. Just capped of a tremendous breakfast. Have to say that the wait staff/team were so friendly and thoughtful - despite being busy. Joshua always had a smile and was quick to help! So highly recommend having breakfast at this awesome spot - almost one of those classic hole in the wall spots that most will miss. Don’t you miss it!!

GOOFY Cafe & Dine in Hawaii is such a fun and relaxing spot. The atmosphere feels local and casual, and the food is fresh and flavorful — especially the acai bowls and loco moco. A very unique & lovely small restaurant with Japanese words and pictures on the menu. The server was very friendly and recommended the Egg Benedict, which was filled with shredded pork and was quite delicious. We also ordered the Loco moco, which was also great and was served with whole grain rice. I like the laid-back feel here !

This morning during our vacation we came here for breakfast. They have quite a good selection of standard breakfast options. Each of us tried something different, and I can say the breakfasts were pretty tasty. I had French toast with Hawaiian fruits — the fruits were fresh and delicious, and the toast was good as well. The coffee was okay, but I can’t really say I liked the matcha. It was very hot, not prepared correctly, and the amount of matcha powder was off, which made it quite bitter. The service was pleasant, and there are comfortable outdoor seating areas. Overall, this is a place you could definitely return to for breakfast or maybe lunch. The only thing I’d wish for is better quality in the drinks, like coffee and matcha. In general, a positive impression🥰

A true island gem — amazing food and atmosphere! We had such a great experience at Heavenly Island Lifestyle! The food was absolutely delicious — especially the steak and eggs, which were cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The steak was tender and juicy, and the eggs were just right — a perfect start to the day! The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with a great island vibe and friendly staff who made us feel right at home. Everything felt fresh, local, and full of aloha. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Super tasty eggs Benedict with very generous pieces of salmon. The kale salad was very good and there wasn’t too much sauce; the ube fries were original and crunchy! Very filling, perfect for breakfast before adventuring on the island! Also we were staying in the Waikiki Shoreline hotel and had a discount for this place. I recommend it!!

Great selection of food, juices and smoothies. Located along one of the main Waikiki streets, but with good ambience and great service. Visited few times during my stay in Honolulu. Great menu for breakfast and dinner, but also the happy hours lunch menu had few delicious meals. I’ve enjoyed the food and juices, some of their teas, but also had one of the best pina on the island. Worth visiting. Oh, and did I mention that for 2$ extra each, you can add as many eggs as you like to whatever you’ve ordered? For me that’s heaven.

Tasty dinner with great portions! It’s definitely meant to be family style but we ordered one meal for everyone and had a bunch of leftovers. The misoyaki chicken and yakisoba noodles were excellent and went really well together. It was busy at dinner time so I’d definitely recommend making reservations.

If you get one solid appetite and you’re a foodie like me, then brother/sister/uncle/auntie/grandma/grandpa — you found the spot. The grinds? Immaculate. The portion size? Polynesian approved. The quality? You can literally taste the love the chefs put into their cooking. I still haven’t sat down to eat inside (’cause I’m guilty of binging movies while smashing food), but every time I’ve gone in to order, the vibe is on point. They got a bar, music (sometimes even live from some awesome local artists), a pool table, and a generous space that feels like home. The employees? 100% guarantee they love what they do, and it shows. So if you come through Side Street Inn, come hungry — and don’t be stingy, tip the crew. They deserve it, and you’ll walk out happy every single time.

Took my hungry family to dinner at Side Street Inn Kapahulu. It was our 1st time and we ordered several dishes. Loved the family style service with large portions. I loved their famous pork chops, fried rice and farmers salad. The kalbi, garlic chicken, pork belly, edamame were all very tasty. Will definately be back soon.

Some friends recommended this place. It was a good value. We had the chefs special for 3-4 people. We ordered o e extra entree. Our group was 7 adults and one toddler. We had leftovers. Salad was very good. Edamame also good. Fried rice, noodles, ribs, chops, and beef were awesome. We will return when we are entertaining a group. Good value.

When they say family style, they mean it! We got the Uncle Colin’s special and couldn’t even finish half of it with four people I had a peanut butter crunch to go and I’ve been thinking about going back soon just to get another one. Servers were attentive and bartenders know what they are doing!

Overall, our experience was just underwhelming. The food was just average at best. The quality definitely is mediocre. Pork chops were dry. Boneless Kalbi was tasty, but many of the pieces were tough and burnt. Garlic Chicken. The best dish of the night. Crunchy on the outside and moist and juicy inside. Full flavor. Chicken salad flavor was good, but chicken pieces were dry and hard.

We love this place! Came with our ohana of 11, food never disappoints, our server suggested which family meal to get so we didn't over order. It was just enough and we had some left over chicken. Always come back with a big group!

I highly recommend this place — we ate breakfast here almost every day during our stay. The staff are always full of positive energy, especially Derek at the counter. The food is very good, which is the most important thing. Prices are reasonable, and if we come back to Honolulu, this will definitely still be our favorite spot for breakfast.

Super ono! Had the French Toast, which was prepared perfectly, with lots of very fresh, ripe fruit. Wife had Bogarts Acai Bowl. Also had Yuzu Smoothie which had outstanding flavor. Owner/Manager on duty was very polite and helpful handing out orders. They did it all perfectly, can't ask for any more than that!

While visiting Hawaii, I was excited to try different acai bowls. Bogart’s Cafe stood out and was probably the best acai bowl I had during my trip. I liked that it was icy like a sherbet, not watery like some others I tried. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area!

Amazing breakfast spot really close to Diamond Head and Waikiki! So many great choices, sweet and savory. The Hawaiian Waffles are incredible - the haupia sauce is just dreamy, with fresh fruit and a perfectly crispy waffle. The ribeye loco moco is also top notch with tons of flavor.

The employees are very welcoming. We order the acai bowl and loco moco, the food is delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. Definitely a place to visit and try out. Highly recommend!

Ono local kine place with good grindz. I have had the avocado toast, mahi fish tacos, and the fried rice bowl. All were so good! The staff are friendly and helpful, always with a smile and laugh to make sure you enjoy your food and time while at Bogarts Cafe. One thing to note - Parking is tough so plan ahead. I usually use Biki as there is a Biki Rack next door to Bogart's. I have been different times of the day and it may or may be busy. But, you can usually find a table quickly. Overall, I give Bogart's Cafe a 10/10.

All of the stars, here, are for the staff. I give them 5 stars! Makena and Fin give superior customer service and really go above and beyond. The pineapple mojito was pretty decent. The fish and chips missed the bar big time for me. I didn’t like the texture and the breading was severely lacking in seasoning; I sprinkled salt on the fish and used almost every condiment to try to add flavor. I was very happy with their in-house made cole slaw; normally, I skip eating cole slaw when accompanying a meal, but this was very fresh and flavorful, I really enjoyed it. I learned about this restaurant from my Lyft driver; I would give Paia a try again, to actually go with what my driver recommended, pick a fish, preparation, and sides.

Very busy place. Took about 20 minutes to get through the line. Clam chowder had a really good flavor, was a bit on the cool side. I had the blackened ahi tuna and my wife had olo fish butter garlic glaze. I thought the coleslaw was fantastic. Street parking around the area if you can find it. We walked from the hotel.

Sunday afternoon visit, first visit. The food was pretty good. Lunch plate(snapper with cajun rice & home potatoes) and the fish & chips were our entrees. The rice was not at all cajun but it tasted well. The home fries were really good. The snapper was grilled and ok. The fish in the fish & chips tasted fresh. The fries were ok. The coleslaw is on the sweeter side, but we enjoyed it. You place your order and then it's more food hall style. A server delivers your order to you and the that's it. You clear your own table, but the table does come with a box with: utensils,common condiments, and napkins. Given the opportunity we'd eat here again.

Food: This restaurant became my favourite during my stay in Hawaii. I tried it once and became a fan. The fish tastes really fresh and delicious. Cleanliness: the store is well cleaned. Staff: very professional and friendly. Given the number of customers, they do a great job. Parking: you better walk. Price: it is a bit expensive but I don’t mind paying if the quality is good. For sure I would try it again and again.

Super good fish as expected. Really like the casual vibe and ordering a drink while in line. There's usually a line outside the door but it isn't too bad, about 15 minutes until you're inside, then you line up to order. Portion is massive. Fish is delicious.

Makenna the bartender was EXCELLENT!! Mai Tai, Mojito, and Blue Hawaiian done great. Mahi Mahi was superb. Cole slaw very tasty. Shrimp cocktail was yummy and shrimp were huge. The entire staff are very friendly and helpful. A MUST TRY.

Paia is a very nice family owned restaurant from what it seems. The vibe you get once you enter in is very warm and lively. The service is fantastic as our food came out in less than 10 minutes which shocked me honestly! The food tasted great and the pricing isn’t bad either! Definitely need to check it out if you’re in Waikiki!

Tucker & Bevvvy is the cutest little grab-and-go spot in Waikiki! Their sandwiches, salads, and beverages are all made fresh on-site, and everything tastes so wholesome and delicious. It’s the perfect place to grab something quick that is healthy and satisfying — and the prices are reasonable for the area. The staff are absolutely wonderful. While I was sitting there, one of them started singing her heart out to Adele, and it was the cutest thing! You can tell they genuinely enjoy their jobs, and that energy adds so much to the atmosphere. 10/10 for both the food and the vibes — definitely a must-visit when you’re in Waikiki!

Went here every day for coffee and chocolate chunk banana bread. Also had good lunch sandwiches. Not as crazy and loud as other places. Love this place!

I went to Hawaii a month ago and ate here for breakfast and its been a month and i cant stop thinking about the brekkie wrap. I want it again so bad. I love it, it was amazing. I would 100% visit if I ever get the chance again.

Food is good & well presented (and convenient), but the majority of the sandwiches on the board are pre-made, so if you request gluten-free bread (a reasonable +$1), they will throw away the bread from the pre-made sandwich and use the fillings. So much unnecessary food waste is disappointing, and would make me hesitant to return. That being, my egg-provolone-spinach sandwich on sprouted grain (wheat) bread was tasty and toasty, a sandwich, what. There are also açai bowls, if that’s your thing.

Ordered a coffee to go, but the cup didn’t even fit the lid properly — it spilled all over my hands while walking and actually burned me. Seriously? Either invest in proper cups or reconsider serving takeout. The food looked unappetizing, like cheap fast food, and the coffee was bitter, which likely means the machine hasn’t been cleaned properly. Disappointing on all fronts.

Pork Lau Lau Platter - 4 stars Squid had a delicious coconut sauce. Pork was decent. Not used to poi that's slightly fermented and sour. Mixed short rib and chicken platter - 4 stars Meat was overall well-seasoned and well-cooked.

We visited Highway Inn in Kakaʻako to try some local Hawaiian food, and overall it was a good experience. The menu had a great variety of traditional dishes, which made it easy to explore different flavors of the islands. However, the seating area felt a bit disorganized, and perhaps because the staff were very busy, the service didn’t feel very attentive. That said, the atmosphere was still pleasant, and the food made it worth the visit. It’s a good spot if you’re looking to experience local cuisine in a casual setting.

First of all we came on a Saturday nite around 6pm. Everyone in your party needs to be present. You put your name on a list and they'll let you know when your table is ready. We were told for that time it would be around 20minutes and sure enough, we were called in 20minutes. However one friend was still looking for parking but even with her arriving, the wait wasn't long. I don't eat Hawaiian food as I'm pescatarian but I love squid luau and that is what I ordered. It was delish, I only wished there was more of it. I also felt like certain sides should just automatically come with it like lomi lomi as that's more of an accompaniment than a side imo. I also could have used more rice. lol. Items are served on plates that remind me of elementary school dishes where everything is divided. It was all very tasty and service was good. I'll definitely come back as my kid loves laulau chicken long rice. My friends laulau looked awesome. Parking was definitely a challenge at that time so be mindful.

I had the fish tacos. I thought the fish was dry and tough. My partner had the combo platter. Chicken beef and fish with white rice. It was very good. They had a one man band which was really nice. I would definitely go back and try something else

We got there around 1pm. The place had lots of empty tables and people were waiting, but the girl at the front was super slow, not seating people on time. We noticed there is a bar and asked if it's 1st come, 1st serve, she said yes, but she needed to clean it. It took her 15 minutes to clean the spots. Then one party behind showed up asking if they can sit at the bar, she seated them immediately. I confronted her. She apologized and said it's her 1st day and would seat us immediately We got seated, it took them another 20 minutes to take order from us. We waited another 15 minutes, the waitress told us she forgot to enter the order and just reordered it. The fish taco was decent. My salad has rotten pieces in it. The The place is not well organized at all. No smile, no greeting. No Aloha spirit. Please don't claim to be a Hawaiian restaurant.

Great Hawaiian cuisine! We loved everything we got but the deep fried butterfish collar with stew gravy was particularly amazing.

There was about a 10 minute wait, which is very reasonable, considering this place gets quite crowded. According to their website, you can only reserve for parties of six or larger. Once we were seated service was a little slow. Our waiter mixed up, not just one, but two orders…. The first was the type of poke we wanted. The second was that he only brought one bloody Mary instead of the two we ordered. The place is very comfortable, vibe, very relaxed, but quite loud. Hawaii Hawaiian music is always playing so that’s a bonus. Ordered the Highway Inn Tasting Plate which has your choice of pork or chicken laulau, poi, baked sweet potato, chicken long rice (local version of glass noodle soup), lomi salmon, and squid luau. A small block of haupia finishes off the dish o’ plenty. It was all good, and a perfect way to get reacquainted with probably one of the only kinds of food that isn’t done well in Okinawa. Of course I got sticker shock because the prices were much higher than an Okinawa, but that’s not anyone’s fault in Hawaii.

To stretch our travel budget further during our Honolulu trip, my wife and I shopped at Foodland Farms at Ala Moana Center, just a 20-minute walk from our Waikiki hotel, and it was a total lifesaver! Hawaii's dining scene can be pricey, and eating at fancy restaurants daily just wasn't doable. This place is perfect for travelers like us, offering a variety of delicious cooked foods and sushi for affordable takeout lunches or dinners. The vibe is super welcoming, with friendly staff handing out samples, and we were thrilled to discover their Sunday buffet inside the market--a fun way to taste new flavors. The poke bar is a real treat here, with so many fresh varieties to choose from. We couldn't get enough of the spicy California poke--mixed with rice, it's a flavorful, filling meal that's as satisfying as anything from a high-end spot. The spice level was just right, and the freshness made every bite amazing. Beyond poke, they've got a solid lineup of other cooked dishes and sushi, so there's always something to suit your mood, whether you're eating in their cozy dining area or grabbing food to go. What sealed the deal for us was their selection of fresh tropical fruits and desserts--think sweet pineapples, ripe papayas, and indulgent macadamia nut treats that added a perfect island touch to our meals. The prices are wallet-friendly for Hawaii, especially compared to touristy restaurants, and the quality never disappoints. Foodland Farms made eating well in Waikiki so easy and affordable--huge thanks for keeping our trip delicious and budget-friendly!

Opening hours are 6 am to 10 pm. Located in the ground parking area of ala Moana shopping center. A large food market with lots of ready made dishes. Pizzas. Salad bar. Poke bar. Sushi. Asian dishes. Sandwiches. Bakery. The food area looks very good and all is fresh. But the ready made dishes that we tried were all average and disappointing.

Asian-themed grocery store with an incredible poke bar—seriously so many fresh options to choose from! It’s clearly a local favorite because there were at least 30 people in line ahead of me, and even more coming in after. Pro tip: grab a ticket right away. The line moves pretty quickly, so no need to panic. Totally worth the wait!

Ok, this place is amazing. Unbelievably good! I could go everyday and get something different. I did make several trips and carried a lot of different food. My favorites were the poke and the bakery. The staff are excellent, helped me out to initially during checkout. Check this place out.

High hope on poke was ruin by the staff at the section. They are well known for fresh poke, and I was the one that wait for long line which I understand. There were 2 people working at the poke one was a lady and she took care of customers very well when was my turn I got the robot guy that didn't helpful at all. No answer any questions and rush me to choose the type of fish. I ended up didn't get what I really and order too much food than I expected to eat. Yes, poke is fresh but dealing unfriendly staff just turn me off.

Excellent local sales so be prepared with a phone number to get discounts. Super fresh fish and prime beef with extremely helpful staff. We go 2 times a week :)

Absolute madness at the poke bar for GOOD reason. We live in Waikiki and walk to Foodland Farms at least once or twice a week. It’s good exercise, family fun, and a new adventure every time. We spend about $40 and eat the most delicious food for a family of 4.
