思ったよりこじんまりとした美術館。現代美術は好き嫌いがはっきりあり、写真のは良かったが、私はこの美術館の学芸員と好みが合わなかった。

サンフランシスコ4回目の訪問で、ようやくサンフランシスコ近代美術館に伺うことができました。こちらの美術館の20世紀以降のモダンアートのコレクションは世界的に有名で、いつかは来たいと思っていました。３時間という限られた時間だったので、思い切って3階、4階、5階のコレクションを中心に回りましたが、十分に満足できました。特に4階に展示された、アンディーウォーホルを始めとするポップアートの作品は、もともと好きだったので楽しく観ることができました。草間弥生さんの巨大なカボチャは、代表作の実物ヲ拝見できて、感動しました。 最後に5階のカフェでおいしいコーヒーを楽しんで、素晴らしい時間を過ごすことができました。

MoMA とはまた違ったコレクションで興味深かったです。雨の日は混み合うとアドミッションの人が言っていたので、天気の悪い休日は先にチケットを買っておくといいと思います。ちなみに学割はないので30ドルは結構な出費でした。

A few smaller complaints such as one of their escalators not working and their gift shop being overpriced apply, but that is where my biggest problems end.
