Brewery

Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches is a popular spot that has gained attention recently. The brewery underwent a transformation and now offers a selection of bright, highly drinkable golden lagers. These beers pair perfectly with their fluffy kolaches and klobasnek dough, as well as Mexican dishes from an on-site food truck. In addition to their beer offerings, Batch serves gourmet kolaches made in collaboration with Micklethwait Craft Meats and local fruit vendors.
Absolutely delicious! First time coming to this place and is sooo good! I would definitely come back. I recommend you the jalapeño sausage and chesse and if looking for something sweet, I tried the peanut butter and jelly and it's fire! Won't disappoint you. I had a cappuccino and it was on point. Strong the way I like. They also sell a large variety of beer! 5/ 🌟 Thanks for reading have a fantastic blessed day 🙏

Brewery #7 of Part 2 of my Austin brewery visits. Batch Craft Beers & Kolaches is a must-try! They brew their own craft beer in-house, and it’s seriously impressive. Great variety, well-executed styles, and something for every beer lover. But the real kicker? The kolaches. Huge selection, super flavorful, and they pair perfectly with the beer. They’ve really nailed both the brewing and the baking—this combo just works. A unique Austin spot that’s absolutely worth a visit!

So woah! Best kolache I have ever had and that is fresh off having made the requisite pilgrimage just a few days ago from West! First off this venue, a stately 1945 structure is a fantastic venue for coffees d beer. Disappointed that Spyder House is no longer that I would gladly make the trek here to enjoy the shade of their mature oaks and spacious outdoor space to enjoy yard games and music. Most importantly, the kolaches are amazing! I am glad my friend recommended this.

We visited Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches (3220 Manor Rd, Austin, TX) for Father’s Day breakfast at my daughter’s recommendation—and I can confidently say these were the best kolaches I’ve ever tasted. They’re made fresh on-site in a small prep area behind the counter where a dedicated team works the dough from scratch all morning. The pastry is warm, buttery, and incredibly flavorful. I tried the Sausage Jalapeño Cheese and Ham & Cheese kolaches—both were excellent, but the jalapeño sausage stole the show. My wife and daughter went for the Strawberry Cream kolache and raved about it. They also offer a variety of sweet kolaches including pineapple and more, depending on availability. At about $4.80 per kolache, the price felt completely fair for the quality. The environment was cozy, the outdoor seating was completely adequate, and parking was not an issue at all. Whether you’re local or visiting Austin, don’t miss this hidden gem. A perfect place to start your day.

I visited Batch for the first time last night, Oct. 5, 2025. I had heard they had a good comedy show on the first Sunday night each month. It was amazing. I had a few of their brewery beers and they were all tasty. The servers and staff were all good. The comedy show was so impressive. Kudos to those involved. I’ll be back!!!
Paul J — Google review
They have delicious kolaches and tasty beer. A came here initially for the beer and was quite surprised by the quality and flavor of their kolaches. They had a large selection of kolaches and everyone I tried was quite tasty. We also sampled a lot of their beers and those too were quite nice even on a beer snob level. Overall I’d come here daily if I lived close just for the kolaches but their beer is definitely worth a try or two as well!
Coach T — Google review
lots of space outside for vitamin d and dog friendly. Good selection of drinks and Kolaches you can order throughout the day, lots of tables and chairs for remote work, very much coffee ☕ shop vibes in the morning and the daytime and turn into a family friendly playground, patio, hangout, event space after 5 pm, food trucks outside if you want a big meal.
Hon L — Google review
When I'm not buying for the WHOLE OFFICE, this is THE KOLACHE. They are AMAZING. The attention to fine details makes the difference. Beer and bread making go hand in hand, and Batch takes the kolache a few levels beyond the abundant "McKolache" from the corporate stores that are good, maybe sometimes even great. I've walked my way through most of the savory (technically klobasnik) and sweet options (traditional kolaches) at Batch. First and most important, each has a dough/bread selection that is selected for the contents. The jalapeno cheese sausage has a blanket of cheddar and pepper baked on to the lightly crunchy bread. The hot link one has an everything bagel topped pastry. I'm not a fan of "fake meat" but the veggie sausage hash brown is actually mind numbingly good. There have been several of the rotating that have graced my breakfast (lunch...dinner...) plates, and the salami pesto was the unexpected best of breed. If you see it, grab one. The fattiness of the salami does not overwhelm, rather it harmonizes with the earthy pesto. The current spinach feta is creamy goodness, and i swear i get a hint of artichoke. As far as the sweet kolache options, currently rocking a key lime and apple oatmeal option that are both top notch. Like i mentioned above, I've never been disappointed by ANY kolache/klobasnik option at Batch. Everything has been at least above average, and most have been the best version I've ever had. Oh. It's pricy compared to factory or lone star. Get over it and get in there, worth every penny.

Bakery
Moonlight Bakery is a family-owned bakery that offers a delightful selection of European pastries and breads. The warm walls create a cozy atmosphere for enjoying their daily-baked breads, special-occasion cakes, and an array of pastries. The bakery is known for its quirky cakes and flaky pastries, but it also offers a small yet delectable selection of sweet and savory kolaches that are made with love.
I expected the regular Austin experience, but was pleasantly surprised by the visit. The food was fairly priced and they didn't hound me for a tip for putting bread in a box. I thought I was in the wrong city for a moment. Service was amazing and friendly, I think it was Norma. She even recommended a competitor's shop when they didn't have what we were looking for. There are a few good people still running businesses in Austin, this is one of them. I noticed a lot of 1 star reviews complaining about parking. It's amazing some people are unable to read clearly posted signs about parking. At least they have friends who are literate enough to type out google reviews for them.
Nathan H — Google review
Moonlight Bakery is a local gem in South Austin. Our first visit was over 7 years ago and going strong. Delicious freshmade pastries! It was hard to decide from the bread to the kolaches. I needed a treat today! Beverages like milk and tea also available. My favorite is the Dutch chocolate milk for the kid in me. Easy come and go ordering. Parked right out front and walked in to order from tasty selections in the showcase. Norma is super friendly and easy to talk to about all local and world current events. It's nestled between T-Mobile and Batteries Plus.

This place was so cute! We wandered in there and the lady working was so nice and really took the time to get to know us. I don’t even like sweets that much but their cookies and cinnamon rolls were amazing!! Super affordable & delicious 10/10 couldn’t recommend more
Jinx T — Google review
Excellent bakery as mentioned in previous reviews. Not a huge selection but perfectly adequate and everything is done very well. No seating area so it’s a grab and go place. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Had the jalapeño, ham and cheese kolache as well as the lemon tart. The kolache was fine, not too spicy, kinda on the small size so get two. The lemon tart was excellent; not too tart nor too sweet. The ratio of crust to filling was spot on as well. My wife loved the chocolate croissant and cherry kolache she ordered. Didn’t get any drinks this time. Great local place, highly recommend.

Loveee it . We got a couple pastries and the lovely woman at the counter even let us try a cookie . Super yummy stuff and really a really welcoming atmosphere ! We will for sure be back
Zoe M — Google review
So many pastry options and desserts!!!!!! Apple strudel, cream puff, and napoleon were all very good taste! Their cream puff cream is mixture of custard cream and whipped cream, so it is well balanced texture and taste! Napoleon is very crispy! Also price is reasonable. I bought three pastries but it was less than $8!!!
Soyoon K — Google review
I was in Austin and my wife wanted me to pick her up some pastries from a local bakery. I'm glad she did. I had to get an assortment. Everything looked amazing. I heard the cinnamon rolls were amazing so I got a couple of those. They did not disappoint. Maybe the best we've had. The lady was super nice and helpful. Fair prices and so far everything was tasty. If I'm in the area again I will definitely stop by. If you're looking for some tasty baked goods you cant go wrong here. I should have bought more cinnamon rolls!

Sweet lady, fantastic service, plenty of options to choose from. The orange blossom and lemon kolache i bought had the right amount of citrus, sweetness and were delicious !

Lone Star Kolaches is a delightful casual eatery that specializes in delectable puff pastries, offering both sweet and savory fillings. As soon as you step inside, the inviting aroma of freshly baked kolaches envelops you, making it hard to resist heading straight to the counter. The friendly staff are always ready to assist you in choosing from their impressive selection.
I love fresh food….these kolaches were cold but delicious. (Microwave to the rescue) I placed my order the night before so it would be fresh and ready first thing in the morning. I received the conformation text & I was excited, It’s been a while since I’ve had kolaches. There are so many variations I orders the fruit and cream cheese along with savory.
Oui A — Google review
Really great kolaches and opens super early. Always friendly service and clean restaurant. Only 4 stars on atmosphere because it's really just a walk-in place, mainly, though there are little sitting spots. It's cute, but not a place I'd hang out in. I think these low-star ratings are hating. Maybe they were just hangry...Always good & fast!!
Laura — Google review
I ordered delivery and had put that im sad in the order notes. they wrote a kind message on the bag and it made me feel better! the food is good but the employees are great!
Eden — Google review
I read through the reviews before going here and saw a lot of bad ones, but I'm glad that I ignored them and gave it a try anyway because I've now been here twice in one week! I think the kolaches are very tasty and love that they have such a huge variety of affordable flavors, plus the staff is friendly/patient and offers to heat them up for me which is greatly appreciated. I'll definitely keep going back!
Danielle B — Google review
The food here is delicious my favorite was the Philly steak cheese kolache..... So carefully made and flavored.... The staff is friendly and attentive.... The tacos were really good too.... If I may add if they make the kolache with the same flour they make the croissants would be awesome...
Anna M — Google review
I've been here a couple of times over the years, but stopped in again to grab a pastry. If you're wondering, they don't have donuts here. They have kolaches with meat, like sausage and cheese or jalapeno sausage. They also have fruit kolaches like cream cheese, apricot, etc. The kolaches are great. We ordered a raspberry cream cheese kolache and cinnamon roll and they were both good. I love sausage kolaches, but we didn't buy any of those on this trip. We'll have to go back to try them and we'll update the review. They have a nice selection and layout of items and the staff is very friendly. Overall a thumbs up place.
Timothy W — Google review
Raise your hand if you expect salsa in your potato, egg, and cheese kolache. I didn't either. At $3.50 per roll I expect to get what is listed. No prices on the menu. 🚩 No notice of salsa added 🚩 Tacos are $2.98, taquito sized. Not worth the hassle of traffic.
Michael T — Google review
Excellent selection of kolache and klobasnek. Great combinations. Like a lot of bakeries, only so many are made for the day so sometimes they run out of a favorite by closing. Get there early to make sure they have what you want!

Restaurant
Kerlin BBQ is a laid-back eatery known for its comforting barbecue dishes such as brisket, pork shoulder, and potato salad. Originally from Arizona, the owners Bill and Amelis Kerlin brought their expertise to Austin, where they have become renowned for their meats prepared using traditional Central Texas methods. The use of post oak in smoking the brisket and pork allows the natural flavors to shine through.
I’m giving this food truck “best of” Austin BBQ status. Friendly folks with killer brisket. Everything we have here is solid. If you like blue cheese, the blue cheese coleslaw is not to be missed.
Gary F — Google review
One of my favorite bbq joints in Austin. I love everything they make and on this visit I enjoyed their baby backs with their blue cheese slaw and as well as their pork burnt ends with Mac n cheese. If your smart enough to plan ahead go on Sunday and get their brisket kolaches.
Mark H — Google review
The most underrated bbq in Austin. This place is great. I've been to all the big ones in Austin and I'd definitely recommend Kerlin. The line is much shorter and the brisket is just as good. The pork ribs are awesome and they have what no-one else has. They have brisket kolaches which has to be the only place in the world you can get this. They are unreal. You have to check this place out.
Derek R — Google review
I may have found the best kolaches on the planet. Brisket and cheddar -- and they're made by hand at one of the most awesome barbecue trailers in Austin - Kerlin BBQ. So you already know the brisket is gonna be amazing. These kolaches are absolutely incredible stuff. If for some reason you don't know what a kolache, definitely look it up. And know that you are missing out!
Dave P — Google review
Was really skeptical of all the really good reviews, but the BBQ here is pretty good. Their kolache is very flavorful especially the brisket kolache. These sell out fast, so I'd recommend that if you want to try some get there before noon. They sold out of the kolaches right after us. The regular brisket could have been a tad more tender, but I think I just prefer a more fatty cut. The sausage link has a hint of heat which I love. Definitely would come back.
Vinh P — Google review
Hands down the best BBQ I’ve ever had. I’ve never been to Austin so we decided to visit and check out all the food in town. We ate at a few places and they were all good, but, Kerlin’s is the best BBQ in the country and I’ll have words with anyone who says different. I’ve been to a lot of places throughout the US but this is the best, so much so that I was going to stay another day in Austin, just to eat there again. (Sadly work didn’t allow) The brisket, the pork shoulder sandwich, the chopped brisket sandwich they were all amazing. The blue cheese coleslaw is the best coleslaw I’ve ever had. I wish I could eat at Kerlin’s everyday. I can’t say enough about how good this food is.
Ben L — Google review
Was told I couldn't miss the brisket cheddar kolaches and wasn't disappointed. The Kolaches are only available Sundays and only until they sell out (which happens fast). The line is pretty nuts so get there early (they open at 11).

Great food! This is an outdoor seating venue only but I still enjoyed the BBQ at 93 degrees over lunch. They have shaded areas and cold beverages to keep you cool. The brisket and mac n cheese were both excellent. Highly recommend!!!

Nestled in the charming Crestview neighborhood, Austin Kolache Pizza & Koffee is a delightful bakery that has been serving up delicious treats for over 45 years. Known primarily for their kolaches, this family-owned gem offers an impressive array of flavors, from fruity fillings like cherry and strawberry to savory options featuring jalapeño, cheese, and sausage. The dough is soft and flavorful, making each bite a delight.
I had a chance to try multiple flavors. The fruit kolaches are soft, not too bready, and have a decent amount of filling. The raspberry had the best and strongest flavor in my opinion. I really enjoyed the bacon egg and cheese, as well as the Big Daddy Polish. Both are great breakfast options. They also have good slices. The pepperoni was flavorful and crispy. It is reheated, but they use an oven instead of a microwave. Which I can respect.
Lightninglead29 — Google review
Wanted to like this place for what it offers and location but it's just not good enough. The kolaches can't compete on any level, dough or contents, the coffee is mediocre and on the small side, and the atmosphere and lighting of the place is like a dive bar. I see a little lot of parents with kids here though, so maybe it's about the pizza? But I won't be back in afraid.
Fabian D — Google review
This is definitely the place to go if you're craving kolaches. They have all different varieties including venison. I had even saved a couple for a few days thinking my family would eat them. I took them out of the fridge and heated them up, still delicious! You know it a Kolache is not fresh after being reheated because typically it will turn hard and crunchy, these did not do that.
Howie — Google review
The kolaches and pastries are excellent and they have a great selection. The pizza is sooo good. Thin crust with perfect flavor. A hidden gem of a place. And the staff is super friendly and goes above and beyond. Our daughter just got her gold belt and they happily made us a cheese pizza close to closing time.
Monti P — Google review
Best cinnamon rolls in Austin!!!! I had their sausage kolache and cinnamon roll and everything was perfect! I will return to this locally owned bakery and pizza shop.
Tory M — Google review
They use to be the Kolache Shoppe on Burnet and has since moved to Mesa Drive. I remember going to their burnet storefront back in college 15 years ago and loved their sticky buns and cinnamon twist. I would drive out of my way to get some. They’ve been around for 45 years and know what they’re doing. Their new location has pizza. They make their dough and pizza sauce. Came here on a Friday and they have $1.50 slices of pizza after 11am. Their specialty pizzas were good but a tad over toasted. Their kolaches were just as delicious as I remember. The dough was nice and fluffy and the salt they sprinkled around the edge of the fruit kolaches made it the perfect balance of sweet and salty. Most kolaches shop have to warm up their kolaches but these were so fresh they were still pillowy soft at room temp. The owner and staff were very friendly.
Linh P — Google review
I’ve been dying to try this place out and I’m glad I had time to stop in this morning. I ordered two jalapeño, cheese, sausage kolaches. They are perfectly crafted. The sausage is thick. The cheese compliments the jalapeño well. The bread is so flavorful and soft. I also ordered a raisin cinnamon roll, and it did not disappoint. They are family owned which is a plus. They are also very inviting and friendly. The inside has plenty of seating if you want to dine-in. Austin Kolache & Koffee & Pizzeria is one of the better Kolache places in Austin. They are located close to where I live, so I’ll most definitely return for a slice of pizza.
Leslie F — Google review
The sausage and jalapeño kolache was decent and the sticky bun was good. It's not in my area so I likely will not return. If you can catch the sticky bun (available Friday and Saturday) fresh id say give it a try. They sell out of them however the day old ones were good to me so I can only imagine the extra gooeyness the fresh ones have.

The shop offers a Texas-sized version of its infamous donut, weighing in at 2 pounds, as well as smaller orange-colored glazed donuts that are equally delightful.
We've gotten to visit Round Rock Donuts a couple of times now, and every time has been a great experience! They have a drive-thru and a walk-up outdoor counter, and I highly suggest doing the walk-up if youre able to! We've done both, and the walk-up always seems to be faster service overall. The drive-thru can get pretty long and even go down the street past the building. The Texas-sized donut is so fun to get and just as delicious as you would hope! The cinnamon rolls are also tasty, and the kolaches are basic but good. Everything is generous sized portions and we had lots of leftovers for the next day!

Hands down, THE BEST customer service in Round rock. I waited for 30 minutes in a line at the drive thru and spent $30 on my order. When I got home and checked the order, there were a few items missing. I called to let them know, and they went above and beyond to get me my missing items and also threw in a few more donuts! We’ve been going to RR donuts for 30 years and they never disappoint. Delicious food and amazing business practices! Great job RR donuts!

It is so hard to decide what we wanted! But the giant Texas sized donut was so good and literally a ginormous donut! The the strawberry filled donut and eclair is ny favorite! I will definitely go again. Quick service, friendly staff!

I grabbed half a dozen of their world-famous glazed donuts on a Friday afternoon after working out of the Round Rock Public Library, and it was the perfect treat to close out the week. These donuts really are worth the reputation—huge, fluffy, with that golden-yellow color that makes them look as good as they taste. The glaze is just the right amount, letting the warm, pillowy donut shine without being too sweet. They were still fresh when I got them in the afternoon, and I ended up eating one in the car before even leaving the parking lot (no regrets). The staff was friendly, the line was quick, and the vibe feels like classic Texas—nothing fancy, just done right. It’s easy to see why people say you can’t come to Round Rock without stopping here. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, these donuts make your day better. Can’t wait to try the Texas-sized one next time!

Very unique-tasting and -looking donuts! The dough has a rich yellow color (something to do with how many egg yolks they use). I’d recommend eating two max in one sitting — they’re seriously good but highly addicting and super sweet. Pro Tip: I’ve gone twice — early Saturday morning and again on Saturday afternoon. Surprisingly, it was much less busy later in the day. No need to wake up early for this one! Also if it’s hot there is no shaded place to sit near the store. Head across the street to gazebo. 10/10 Donuts 🍩

Just ordered their Original Glazed, Strawberry and Berry Filled Donuts and Coffee. It’s to die for and worth the trip. Line is not long, careful because there are cars coming in. Saw this on Man vs Food and I wanted to try it for myself! Will give it another go before leaving. Update: 1500, I ordered some before going back and to be honest, I FREAKING LOVE TEXAS! not the heat though!!
Todd J — Google review
Round Rock Donuts lives up to the hype! The donuts are absolutely delicious—fresh, soft, and full of flavor. With such high demand, expect a line, but it moves quickly thanks to their drive-thru window. I loved the wide variety they offer, from classics to specialty options that all taste amazing. The highlight has to be their famous Texas-size donut, which is roughly equal to 12 regular donuts—perfect for sharing or making a big impression.

Came here around 10am on a Friday and was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Not really sure how this place gets so many 5 star reviews. I was in town for a work trip and was told this donut place is better than any in Dallas. It is not. I don’t know how to explain these donuts. They’re not fluffy, they’re a little heavier and flatter. Each one is glazed and then frosted. Parking is terrible. If you go, just order at the window, the drive thru line wraps around the street. They sell singles ($1.19) or a dozen ($12). No half dozen. You order at the window, give them your name, pay, and someone will come out with your order when ready.

Bakery
Capital City Bakery, located in Austin's Holly neighborhood, is a female-owned bakery that specializes in all-vegan treats. Their menu includes a variety of delectable options such as cupcakes, brownies, custom cakes, and more. The founder's dedication to perfecting recipes has resulted in popular items like the Confetti Cupcake, which features soft vanilla cake with sprinkles and vegan buttercream frosting.
My fiance and I found this place randomly looking for a birthday cake... my fiance ended up surprising me for my birthday with the vegan cupcakes and it's been a tradition ever since we moved here! We love to offer the cupcakes to our friends and family for the first time and not let them know that they're vegan. These are the best desserts I've ever had. Vegan Poptarts... sounds too good to be true right? Nope, it's real life and they taste JUST like regular Poptarts. Come support this incredible local Austin business. Everything I've had here, has been amazing. Pay attention to their Instagram each week to see what special flavors they are offering that week!

I did not realize that this was a vegan bakery (we just were walking by) so my taste wouldn’t really count here but I personally was not a fan. When we walked in there were only a few cupcakes left since it was the end of the day/weekend. They did look good though. The biggest problem I had was how filthy the place looked. The decor was cute (of course) but the floors and tables were all DIRTY. The place was welcoming enough. We had to wipe down the table, but sitting there looking at the super dirty floor was not appetizing.

I'm visiting from Los Angeles and my son took me to this bakery. He hadn't been before but heard great things about it. I had the peanut butter brownie and blackberry mocha iced coffee. As rich as the brownie looks, it wasn't too sweet AT ALL and it was rather delicious. The drink was different but good. My son had the carrot cake muffin and he loved it. I would definitely return as they had some other really delicious eats that I want to try. I would also recommend this bakery to others.

I can’t get enough of this bakery! Everything I have tried there has been amazing. The cupcakes are all delicious and designed with all the details considered (my favorites are any of the chocolate cupcakes, they’re all super moist and some of them even have fillings!). The kolaches are so good too. Honestly wouldn’t change a thing, love this place!

Because I have anaphylaxis to dairy and eggs, it's hard to find baked goods that I can eat, especially without any fear at all of cross-contamination. But this place has been my go-to for almost a decade. They made my wedding cake, I stop by every time I'm in downtown Austin for some cupcakes, and I pre-order every Thanksgiving and Christmas for some specialty pies. You can't go wrong here!!! :)
Anna-Maria C — Google review
Vegans with a sweet tooth, here’s your place. From kolaches (local staple, out-of-towners), cupcakes, brownies, everything looks, smells and tastes delicious here. The Sweet Potato Cream cheese kolache is heavenly, and the Salted Carmel Brownie is so decadent, it needed three sittings to finish. The service is impeccable, the staff is funny and accommodating for questions, overall a positive atmosphere. Highly recommend stopping here to satisfy your vegan sugar cravings.

The strawberry 🍓 blonde was so delicious! The frosting was super sweet and creamy. The cake was very moist. Both frosting and cake balanced well with each other. The selection was rather small but it certainly was good!

When looking for a bakery that provided vegan cupcakes for our wedding, we sent a couple emails out to different companies. Capital City Bakery is the only one that would actually respond to us, and I'm so glad they did! We had a small vegan carrot cake and vegan funfetti cupcakes and they were delicious! We had compliments all night about them. I highly recommend their services not only because they tasted amazing, but also for their prompt and consistent communication always keeping their customers in the loop.

S H Donuts is a no-frills spot known for its fluffy donuts, kolaches, and cinnamon twists. The family-run joint is loved for its warm and friendly service, with regulars greeted by name as they pick up their favorite treats. Located in a quiet neighborhood, the shop's unassuming exterior belies the delicious offerings inside. Visitors are advised to arrive early to ensure they snag some of the popular kolaches before they sell out.
An amazing mom and pop shop! There are a variety of flavored donuts - cake and yeast! There are also kolaches and other pastries as well. It seems like a hole in the wall and it’s absolutely worth the visit!! There’s also seating and parking. The staff is so friendly and helpful!!

This is quite the hidden gem. Friendly, delicious, and fast. Hole in the wall shop that reminds me of all the best mom and pop donut places in the Midwest. So happy to have found. They are light, yummy, and don’t make you feel sick after you eat. Will be regularly frequenting this shop. Especially loved the blueberry cake one.

Finally!!! Since moving here a few years ago from San Diego- with amazing donuts on every corner, surrendered to the reality of no good donuts in Austin. Finally my dreams are answered after going to SH! It’s just like home. Every bite is perfect. Will be back (too often)

My teenager’s favorite local donut shop. A little out of the way for the school commute, but always a great reward when the kids can get out the door early. Love this place.

I loved that they are a bit crispy and fresh! Plain cake and cream filled were good but vanilla icing yeast donut and chocolate glazed cake donut taste weird, also had smell like old oil
JinJin Y — Google review
The donuts were absolutely delicious! Soft and moist and fried to perfection. The glazed donut had the right amount of sweetness to it, not over powering at all. It was light as air. The blueberry and apple crumb cake donuts were surprisingly light to the taste not really thick like your traditional cake donuts are. It’s a plus really because you can eat more of them 😂. Some of the best donuts I’ve had in a long time.

If you find yourself in Austin, Texas, and are hit with a sudden craving for something sweet, look no further than Mrs. Johnson's Bakery. This charming little spot has been delighting locals since 1948 with its mouthwatering selection of donuts and kolaches. Open from 7:30 PM until noon the next day, it’s the perfect late-night destination for those seeking a sugary pick-me-up.
These are hands down the best donuts I have had to date! Just no frills, classic doughey goodness! I had a classic yeast glazed and a blueberry cake donut. They were both amazing! Even after 10pm they were super fresh and melted in my mouth. They definitely keep that old fashioned flavor and are not nearly as sweet as more popular options these days. It reminds me of my hometown donut shoppe in the best way! It is now a must stop for anytime I'm in Austin.

I had heard some buzz about this place being the best place in austin for donuts, so I finally went to go try. Truthfully though, round rock donuts is a million times better. The apple fritter barely even has apple???? I'm super disappointed. Bought these to take home to my family and I feel like I could've done better going to heb. :/

They're open again! Woohoo. Out of plain glazed when we went at 10:30p. Bummer. Strawberry glazed, apple fritters, and blueberry cake donuts were delicious. One suggestion—keep donuts warm if possible. :) Thanks, AJ! We'll be back.

I love their donuts! I especially love that not only can you purchase donuts in the morning but you can also get them in the evenings starting at 7:30pm when they start their production. I’m a fan of their blueberry, it’s got a nice crispness with a tasty flavor. It’s a family operated business and they are sweet hardworking people. Support local y’all!

The blueberry cake donut is really good. The apple fritter is also really good. The strawberry glazed yeast donut is both unusual and excellent. The regular glazed yeast is fine. I would recommend going and trying a variety. The hours are little bit odd for me. But the donuts are worth the effort.

Boston cream filled was amazing. Strawberry glazed taste good and fluffy but I’d love it if there was more icing. A bit disappointed. Cake donut was fluffy and not too sweet I prefer different shape though. It’s also pretty pricy I got 3 pieces for $5.82

Donut 7, an unpretentious donut shop located near The Domain in Austin, has been serving breakfast since 1983. This family-owned business offers a variety of flavors for their handcrafted donuts and also serves breakfast tacos and kolaches made fresh on a daily basis. With a simple yet charming ambiance, Donut 7 is the ideal spot to grab a quick morning bite. Additionally, they offer cold brew coffee for those in need of a caffeine fix.
I will straight up drive out of my way to get some of these absolutely superior potato egg and cheese breakfast tacos with the salsa verde, and the bean potato and cheese ones too. Perfectly spicy and flavorful green salsa pulls it all together. Great donuts too, I love a classic glazed or chocolate.

The croissant kolache was warm and yummy. A great alternative if you want a lighter weight kolache. The donut holes paled in comparison. We went in at 10am and the donut holes were quite stale. They might have tasted great if fresh

If you like Kraft slice cheese in a taco or over priced small portioned meals this is your place . Food is completely bland the sausage had a different texture and to top it off SLICE CHEESE in a TACO ? Like really ? The size of the kolaches are crazy ! For a lower price and an ACTUAL jumbo sized I can get one at round rock doughnuts AND taste good. STOP DELETING REVIEWS!!! I was blind sided by this place because of all the good reviews. NO WAY I’m alone on this

A local favorite place for donuts + breakfast. Pleasant greetings I received when walking in the door. Lots of choices for donuts. I think anyone can find his/hers likes. Breakfast items include breakfast tacos, croissant sandwiches, and biscuit sandwiches. Mine tasted very good (especially with the house-made salsa). But the presentation was subpar. I liked their Texan pecan coffee. Prices are moderate in today’s standards.

Saw a soccer match at Q2 & visited Donut7 the next morning, what a treat. Savory potatoes in my taco & fresh made to order, excellent local coffee. Nicest donut shop I have visited with plenty of seating space.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. No frills place but quick bite or grab and go. Good amount of varieties. Their donuts are cake like so if you like that, you will like them. I like them and liked that they're not too sweet. They are also not too big so can easily eat 2 or try 2 different flavors if you can't decide. We got a few kolache as well and they are delicious (balance of sweet and salty).

Donut 7 offers an ok selection of donuts and coffee. The flavors are enjoyable, but nothing extraordinary. The donuts are fresh, and the coffee is satisfactory. It's a good spot for a quick and simple treat, but don't expect anything exceptional.

If you want a glazed donut that reminds you of the bakery you grew up with, where your dad would take you after getting a haircut... then this is the place for you! Yes of course they have more fancy options, and of course they're all delicious. The sausage kolaches are great, too!

We ordered birthday breakfast sampler for delivery and everything was fresh and delicious. We had tacos, sausage biscuits, donuts and cinnamon rolls. The tacos were definitely homemade and delicious, donuts were super fresh and probably made today. It was like ordering room service, the delivery was a bit early, food was well packaged and labeled. Order was perfect, thank you! We have plenty of leftovers too.

I absolutely LOVE this place. I’ve only ordered from uber but I am definitely a repeat customer. I plan on going to the shop eventually when I go out and about. But this place does not disappoint! Highly recommend pretty much EVERYTHING on their menu! Food is always packed nicely and is so fresh! Tacos are so flavorful. Oh and the hot sauce is perfect!! I just noticed they sell their own hot sauce and plan on buying me some!

Placed an order for pick up the day before. The communication was great, and I got a text my order was ready 15 minutes ahead of schedule! Donuts were boxed up and ready to go, but they waited to cook my breakfast taco so that it was fresh, and it only took a few minutes. Everyone was kind and respectful and made sure I was taken care of while I waited. 10/10, highly recommend!

This is our granddaughters' favorite donut place in Austin. They tried 7 locations in south austin and unanimously voted for Donut Taco Palace. The lady is very sweet. One morning they did not have chocolate filled donuts so she took some empty ones to the back and filled them with chocolate. They have a great selection of donuts and tacos.

From classic fruit-filled varieties to inventive combinations like bacon and cheese, there's something for every palate at Kolache Factory.
Happy Tuesday, dear readers! On this fine day, my snack stop was actually rather unplanned, but I’m certainly glad I did. As I accompanied my mother to an appointment, we found that we had a little extra time to stop somewhere for a bite to eat. Originally planning on settling for some common fast food, we were prepared for a relatively mediocre experience, but when my mother spotted Kolache Factory’s sign, we were too intrigued to pass it up! As you can see in the attached photograph, I ordered the Chicken Florentine Croissant. What a hit it was! Packed full of flavor and with a wonderfully flaky texture, it took me no time at all to scarf down my meal of choice. Its taste took me by surprise in the best possible way! I was reminded of the olden days of my youth, where I would have a pasty such as this at the fair. Uncle Vinny, when he accompanied me, always preferred his gruel, and did not partake in the sampling of new foods. He was a strange man, but I respected him nonetheless. I’ll never ski again, though. I’m too superstitious…

Delicious, cheap, fast, and portable. I got this the breakfast before my flight and it was perfect. Each kolache is only about $2 so you can try a bunch for not that much cost which is good. I had the sausage and cheese, and the ham, egg, and cheese. Both tasted delicious. Everything they offered looked good too. If I needed a quick and cheap breakfast I would come here, especially since it’s open early too.

The Kolaches from here were just okay. Nothing more… **UPDATED REVIEW: I came back to this place to give it another try and the kolaches were absolutely delicious! I can’t decide if the Hot Texas Polish or Egg, potato, and cheese is my favorite. I found the pepperoni pizza kolache to be quite tasty as well. Customer service was very friendly.

I’ve placed 3 DoorDash orders for a chocolate chip muffin and each time there have been zero chocolate chips in all of them. I’m not sure what happened to this place in the last couple of weeks but it’s very sad that this continues to happen and DoorDash refuses to refund me. Please give your employees better training, also, the sugar on top is not needed for the chocolate chip muffin, it’s sweet enough without it. 05/24/25 Update: decided to give ya’ll another try today. Glad to see you took the advice and I don’t have to fight with DoorDash this time. Thank you!

I agree with other reviews. They are not the best but I’m sure they are not the worst. Taste/flavor-wise, they are plain, regular, ordinary ingredients. They are Not the type of kolache you eat and say that you’d like to have seconds. Personally, I like the Kolaches at 7/11 better. Some of the kolaches are a bit doughy and perhaps slightly undercooked. You can see in the picture with 3 different kolaches that they all have a different shade. The bacon, egg, and cheese kolache was the one that was a bit undercooked. Also, that random ball of dough is what was bitten from the BEC kolache. All that dough first. The sausage, egg, and cheese kolache is probably the nicest looking kolache out of all of them. Very nicely filled. The regular sausage kolache had too much bread for such a little sausage. Their cinnamon roll is pretty decent in size. Anywho, to each their own. Also, don’t ask what type of kolache is popular. They’ll just read a list of what they have in the store. Not a lot of customer engagement and interest shown by the associate. Maybe it just wasn’t a good morning for them. Idk. 🤷🏽‍♀️ (Sadly, the kolaches did not get eaten.)
Alicia A — Google review
I had take out from the Kolache Factory in Austin, TX. The food was absolutely superb and the customer service was exceptional. The selection of kolaches almost made it impossible for me to decide. Overall it was a great experience for me. I will definitely return again.
Debra T — Google review
I should not have to explain how dough works to a place like this. What happened to baking the kolaches to closer to well-done versus (look at photo) an almost wet undercooked dough. I don't know if it's new leadership but as soon as I walked I noticed how most kolaches were underbaked. Yeast is our enemy and this place supports that if it's intentional. Not good. Do better or you'll lose regular customers.
Sal V — Google review
You know when I was a kid I was sick or broke my hand something like that. My mom took me here after the doctors in the back of the koalche place and. I got this yellow treat idk what it was called or anything and I remember we finished them together and. My mom said do you want more and I said yes and so. I took her card and went to the counter and this lady helped me I don't remember her really but she was really sweet and I asked for two and she gave me more then two and she shhh me bc her boss was in the back on a call and she gave me the bag and I ran back to the table where my mom was and my mom opened the bag and there was more than two and she said oh that was nice of her she gave you more than two and we ate them together. Now after like 10 years or so I thought of my mom because I had just moved out and she had thought about me also. So I invited her out and we went in and there on the sheets was the yellow treat and. We got the same yellow treats and now she's old and I'm still that kid again thanks to this place The end.

Their commitment to using high-quality ingredients shines through in their buttery treats, including a sought-after gluten-free version of the popular Cinnamon Roll.
Oh My! The Crème Brûlée Cinnamon Roll was incredible! Warm, perfect amount of icing, thin crispy top layer…yum! Sad it’s not an exertion but glad I was able to try it. Other regular cinnamon roll and breakfast tacos were good too. We both enjoyed our first visit and look forward to going again. A few other notes… friendly and helpful staff, had to wipe our own table before sitting down, parking is difficult as it faces towards exciting out the “back “ but construction was blocking the exit so had to back out onto Congress. Still going back though!

We stopped in to see what all the fuss was about. The energy was pleasantly frantic but not crazy at all. The staff was friendly but seemed to be really focused on what they were doing so much that it seemed to be a distraction from customers. This place is very clean and has plenty of choices. We came in to test the cinnamon rolls and kolaches. They were different that what we expected. The breads were different texture that what we normally got. You could tell each item was fresh but the cinnamon roll icing was different. So the taste overall to us was a three but you. An tell a lot of effort goes into the product they put out. The issue is probably our traditional taste. I recommend visiting to see for yourself.

I LOVE Teal House!! I get coffee here on average about 2-3x per week because I know they’ll always make my latte perfectly, and the staff are always friendly and create a lovely atmosphere. I also am obsessed with their sourdough bread, which I take home, but they also use it for many of their sandwiches! I’m telling you, if you haven’t tried their food yet—DO IT! Their BLT is one of the best I’ve ever had, and their breakfast sandwich on a croissant is next level. I also love the Avo Toast, and they have breakfast tacos now too which is clutch when you’re on the go, as I often am. Whether I’m grabbing my stuff to go, or staying and working at one of their tables, Teal House is my go-to spot when I want consistency, quality, good vibes, and exceptional customer service!

Kerlaches, formerly known as "klobasnik," is a popular spot in Texas for delicious kolaches. The smoked-meat stuffed pastries are a favorite breakfast item among locals and visitors alike. One must-try option is the brisket and cheddar kolache, which comes with barbecue sauce. The soft dough is generously filled with flavorful brisket, making it a satisfying treat.
I had the jalapeno cheddar sausage and the spinach feta. These were one of the most delicious things I've had in Austin. They were packed full and very good size for the price. Warm and fresh ingredients flavorful dough. Fast and friendly service. Highly recommend!

If I remember correctly, my kerlache was $7. I got the brisket and cheddar one and it was tasty, definitely get the bbq sauce to go along with it.
Fatima M — Google review
Kerlaches here were top notch! Ordered brisket and cheese and the pork and cheese. Accidentally received spinach and feta, surprisingly (to meat eater brain) it was really flavorful and seasoned well!
Vinh P — Google review
Absolutely incredible! The brisket and cheddar kolache was smoky, tender, and paired perfectly with the slightly sweet dough and tangy BBQ sauce—just a perfect bite every time. The sausage, jalapeño, and cheddar kolache was equally amazing: spicy, cheesy, and super satisfying. You can really taste the quality in every ingredient, and it’s clear these aren’t your average kolaches. Friendly service, great flavors, and a must-try if you’re in Austin. Get there early—these things sell out for a reason! Instagram: eatwithjarco

One of the best kolaches I have ever had. They use bbq meats for filling instead of the usual sausage/ham etc. I had the pull pork and Monterrey jack cheese, brisket and the pork belly burnt ends w/ jalapeños (wkend special). They were all awesome, pull pork was actually the best surprisingly. The are $5 each and contains a decent amount meat. Very satisfied, we def come back and recommend for anyone tired of the standard kolaches. I hope they make some sweet options soon.

First I must lay out that I don't even like kolaches. Hopefully that adds more oomph to how genuine my five stars are. Dough - I have never had a kolache that didn't have too much bread. Enter - Kerlache. What a genius idea to keep the housing thin so that you can enjoy the filling! I mean, I had to take all the photos to brag about the perfect thinness of the outer dough shell. And pat on the back to them for perfecting the recipe to where it's not too thin to break easily but thin enough that the dish is not overwhelmed with bread. Very impressed. Brisket + Cheddar - I have to say I was hesitant to order this one. Only because I'm not a big fan of BBQ. Before you gasp and ask if I'm a real Texan... I like BBQ but has to be when I crave it and in small portions and then I'm good for a looong while. So back to the filling..... This one was my favorite. The meat was juicy not too greasy. And top it off - mixed with may favorite food group - cheese! Tres Leches Cinnamon Roll - a MUST get. It will speak for itself. Not too bready...just perfect! Portion sizes (to me) are huge. Enough to get a few and share or get one and feel fully satisfied. Going to have to say job well done on perfecting this one :)

I ordered the brisket and cheddar kolache ($5.95) which comes with barbecue sauce. The dough is super soft, and it’s filled with a generous amount of delicious brisket. The barbecue sauce is a bit too vinegary for my taste but you don’t need the sauce to enjoy this kolache. Since they do sell out, I recommend calling before going to make sure they still have what you’re looking for. I loved that it’s part of a food truck park, so you can explore other food options as well. They have nice outdoor seating and we were able to find street parking pretty easily.

Got a brisket cheese and a sausage. Must be a trendy spot for the reviews are good but the food not so much. Brisket had a somewhat sour smell and didn't taste good. The sausage was good but it was kinda cold.

New American restaurant
Restaurant
Odd Duck is an upscale restaurant that offers locally sourced New American cuisine and drinks in a modern setting. Originally starting as a food trailer in 2009, it has now become a popular spot on South Lamar for gourmet brunch, lunch, and dinner since opening its brick and mortar location in 2013. The menu changes daily based on seasonal ingredients from local farmers, providing a unique dining experience each time.
If I could give 10 stars I would. We had a 6pm reservation. Liked arriving early, it was very quiet until about 7:15/30 when it really started to fill up. Service was incredible from start to finish. Robert, our server, was the best! He was super knowledgeable, made great suggestions and was very attentive. We had 4 in our party, husband and 2 kids, 19 and 21. We all agreed it was one of our top 3 dinners, ever! Photo of what we ordered in the pics, just duplicate ours, you won’t be disappointed! We LOVED the celery sorbet sundae, sort of had to be talked into it by Robert but he was right!! Really every dish was perfection hard to pick out a favorite, pressed I’d pick cornbread, honeydew salad, and the pasta! Amazing flavors and the right portion size. If we lived here I would want to come back weekly!
Jeannie D — Google review
A standout experience from start to finish. Odd Duck totally lives up to the hype. Every dish felt creative but grounded. Using local ingredients, bold flavors, and the taste of every dish was insane. The small plates are perfect for sharing (or not), and the cocktail list is just as impressive. Our server/bartender, Joe, was so lovely and incredibly knowledgeable and helped us navigate the menu. The vibe is warm, lively, and very Austin. Highly recommend if you’re into seasonal food done really, really well. Great veggie options- and Joe took time to explain the dishes. Plus there’s a separate veggie menu which was great.

Was such a fun and amazing experience! The food was amazing and this place is not just hype. You can tell there are chefs in the kitchen that truly care about taste and flavor. Everything was great but the grilled chicken hearts blew me away!
Josh C — Google review
Great news everyone. Perfect restaurants still exist. There are, in fact, bartenders who still know that the relationship with the customer is more important than how good the drink is (and the drinks are still absolutely perfect). There are dishes that cannot be improved and you will be unwilling to share. Order absolutely everything on the menu. Talk to everyone that works here. Also, Erin, thanks again for just an absolutely flawless experience. Cannot wait to be back.

We had a really nice experience at Odd Duck—the service was excellent, with servers who were personable, attentive, and made us feel welcome. For food, we ordered the cornbread, stuffed quail, and blackened redfish. The cornbread is something I had read a lot of praise about, but personally, I thought it was just okay. It comes in a small skillet, but it’s very heavy for an appetizer. The flavor is buttery with a slight kick of spiciness, and I liked the crunchy crust with honey on top. The onion butter served with it is creative and works well at first, but after a few bites, the richness becomes a little overwhelming. I found myself wishing for smaller, multiple cornbreads to give more crust and help reset the palate. The stuffed quail was the star of the night. It had bold, Mexican-inspired flavors that reminded me of a chorizo breakfast burrito—savory, spiced, and delicious. The quail itself was cooked perfectly, tender and juicy. Sitting at the bar, we saw quails hit the grill pretty regularly, so clearly, it’s a popular dish. It definitely lived up to the hype and was the highlight of the meal. The blackened redfish wasn’t what I expected—it leaned more toward Greek flavors than the usual Cajun style. It was still good, especially with the little eggplants that added a fun texture, but it was hard for it to stand out after the quail. We skipped dessert since the menu didn’t look too exciting and we were already pretty full. Overall, Odd Duck delivered great service and some solid dishes, with the quail being the clear winner. The cornbread and redfish had interesting elements, but not everything hit the same high note. I would go back just for the quail. The happy hour deal is really good too.

Food was delicious. We sat at the bar and the team was great in helping us celebrate a birthday. Right away I had to rebook another reservation.

Odd Duck is one of my favorites in Austin. I’ve been several times and have yet to be disappointed. The ambiance is casual yet classy and the food is equally multi-faceted. It’s definitely an Austin must if you’re in to the food scene.

My family and I would like to give a shout out to Thomas, who literally treated us like family at our visit to Odd Duck last night. We were walk ins and were seated promptly outside by the mister fans which made the environment super comfortable. Thomas gave us all his recs and helped guide the courses. If you go, you must get the cornbread. It’s insanely good. We also devoured the braised goat pizza, antelope tataki tostada, redfish crudo, and thai melon salad. All top notch with incredible flavor. To be honest, my favorite part was hearing each person describe the dish as they delivered it to our table. This place seriously cares about the dining experience and it shows. Thomas’ service was impeccable and he always made sure we had fresh plates and silverware. Thank you Thomas for making sure we had an unforgettable time at Odd Duck! Also, thank you to the most extraordinary valet superstar I’ve met. Audrey took excellent care of our car and had it ready for us in moments! Thanks Audrey! Protip: if you’re driving and want a zero proof beer, get the Best Day Kölsch!

American restaurant
Sour Duck Market is a casual American restaurant and market that offers locally-sourced ingredients in its dishes. As the sister restaurant to Odd Duck, it features a bakery with an array of delectable pastries and a coffee program that rivals those found in Seattle. The menu includes innovative yet simple dishes such as tater tots, fried chicken, burgers, and dinner plates after 5pm.
Fantastic Brunch Spot – A Must We visited Sour Duck Market (Austin) based on a whim and a Googled review — it did not disappoint! From the moment we arrived on a busy Sunday morning, we were impressed by the efficiency of the service, the quality of the food, and the overall experience. The ordering process is seamless—scan a QR code at your table, browse the menu, place your order (individually or as a group), and pay via Apple Pay. You can run a tab or pay immediately, and you receive text updates on your order status. It’s a smooth, well-designed system that ensures you’re never left wondering about your food. Despite the bustling brunch crowd, our food arrived quickly, and every dish was absolutely delicious. We ordered: • Fried Chicken Hash – Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. • Breakfast Taco – Simple but packed with fresh ingredients. • Baked Chilaquiles – A standout dish with bold flavors. • Breakfast Sammy – A hearty and satisfying sandwich. • A Star is Born (x3) – A refreshing and well-balanced drink. • Chai Latte – Smooth and full of warm spices. The food was fresh, flavorful, and made with high-quality ingredients. The portions were just right, leaving us satisfied but not overly stuffed. As expected in Austin, parking can be a challenge, but with a little patience, you can usually find a street spot nearby. Overall, Sour Duck Market is a fantastic brunch spot with great food, fast service, and a hassle-free ordering system. We’ll definitely be back! Highly recommended.

Parking was a little tight but wasn’t really an issue. Food was wonderfully delicious. I got a mushroom danish, I loved it but for my partner it wasn’t his cup of tea. We got the brisket sandwich and chicken sandwich. Both absolutely delish and you can feel the intention behind every ingredient for it. Maybe the chicken was a little better than the brisket one since the bread on that one was a little dryer. My friend got the sourdough melt and that was also absolutely delish. And for a little refreshing side, I enjoyed the smashed cucumbers. Service was good when you were met with a staff member. Most of it is self service. They had a stand for water, utensils, to go containers and plates. You order food from a QR code on your table. Food came out in a timely manner. The vibe and decor of the place was really cute and I’d love to come back next time I’m in town. Their brunch looks awesome. For the pictures it’s just the mushroom danish, smashed cucumbers and brisket sandwich.

Patio happy hour is the place to be. A large set of picnic tables with lots of seating and a great happy hour menu! The smash burgers were delicious and the drinks refreshing. The fries and squash didn’t hit the mark. Officially updating my review - been back at least 5x since my original review. While I stand by my fries remark I have fallen in love with the bread and pastries from Sour Duck! The mushroom danish, rose pistachio cookie, fresh breads and pastries are just my favorite. I keep coming back

I really wanted to like this place, their baked goods look stunning and the vibes are great. I went for brunch to scope it out for a date and ordered 3 dishes and a coffee to give it a fair chance. Again, everything came out looking spectacular. But to me, it didn't taste like much. Everything was bland. I got the breakfast sammy, the mushroom danish and the pretzel with queso. All three were disappointing. Will probably not be returning, although I do want to try their cocktails.
Nikunj B — Google review
Went during a happy hour, ordered a double with queso, a lemonade, a dreamscicle and a non-happy hour pretzel. I was happy with the food and ordered everything on my phone, which felt really convenient - but when I checked my credit card the next day, I noticed the amount the business was charging me ($34) was more than what I expected. I tried to see if I could pull my receipt the next day and that wasn't an option, I also tried to call and the phone would get picked up and then placed on the side (I could hear the restaurant, but no one answered). I did not leave a tip and I also closed out my tab (tip is prompted right before that happens). I did see that their website says they charge 20% on unclosed tabs, but I don't think that applies here, even assuming a 20% tip, the math doesn't tie The whole experience feels weird.

Crispy edged thin double smash cheese burger was pretty good. Drinks were also good. Service at the table from the QR code so easy to order and all very informal.

Love the outdoor area, great places for family and kids. Happy hour is fantastic price for an amazing burger, drinks and pastries. Definitely recommend the cayenne coffee drink. The fries are phenomenal with housemade ketchup better then any ive ever had.

Visited Sour Duck Market for brunch and absolutely loved it. The Devon’s Hot Chicken Sandwich was spicy, juicy, and perfectly balanced with pickles and slaw, and their Peeler Farms Wagyu Double Cheeseburger (with American & pimento cheese on a challah bun) was bursting with flavor. The Smoked Mushroom Danish made for a sweet, savory pastry treat to start. The vibe is laid-back and cozy — part bakery, part beer garden — and the staff were warm and helpful (they even talked me through their seasonal menu items). Great spot to linger over coffee, a pastry, or a full meal.

Staff is super friendly, they recognize me since I go so often and say hello. Love the kolaches and donut holes. Sausage, cheese jalapeno kolache for me and a small sausage and cheese kolache for my dog, delicious and soft. Perfect

This shop has green tea–glazed donuts! I’ve been searching for them for a while, and they’re amazing. Highly recommended if you’ve been looking for them too or just want to try something new. The girl at the front register was super nice and friendly, and the extra donut holes were a great touch. The sausage kolaches were soft and flavorful. The portion size was just right—not too small, not too big—and the price was reasonable for what you get. Don’t forget to try their apple fritter!

I have been coming here for years to get donuts and the owners are incredibly nice. The shop is always really clean. The donuts are amazing and they have Kolaches without cheese. You will want to get there early to get a full selection of the donuts!

Best donuts in Austin! They always recognize me when I come in and they’re always so kind, it makes my day. The donuts are always fresh and their kolaches are also genuinely the best I’ve had in the city. I never used to be a donut person and they turned me into one, love them!

Coffee shop
Little Brother Coffee & Kolaches, located on South Congress, offers a unique menu featuring handmade kolaches from Executive Pastry Chef Lindsay O'Rourke and her team at Holdout Brewing Co. The establishment is known for its friendly service and locally sourced baked goods from Better Half. Visitors can enjoy delicious chocolate chip cookies and incredible kolaches while sipping on fantastic coffee. It's the perfect spot to grab a quick breakfast during a South Congress stroll or to satisfy your coffee cravings with smooth perfection.
Little Brother Coffee & Kolaches is a tiny, to-go coffee spot, with just one small table outside, making it more of a grab-and-go location rather than a sit-down café. The service window opens onto the street, and on the other side, it connects to a hat shop, which adds to the quirky charm of the space. While there are no seating options inside, the setup creates a unique atmosphere, making it feel like an integrated part of the store. They serve all the essential coffee drinks, and as the name suggests, their kolaches are a standout feature. We tried the spinach and cheese kolache, and it was excellent—generously filled, with a thin, well-balanced dough that doesn’t overpower the filling. The pastry stays flat rather than puffing up, allowing the flavors of the ingredients to shine. This place is perfect for a quick morning stop—grab a solid cup of coffee, a kolache, and get on with your day. The convenience, quality, and unique setup make it a great find for those who appreciate a well-made to-go breakfast.

Rating: 3.3/5 They were offering a free drink on National Coffee Day (8-10 AM through InKind), so I thought it was the perfect time to give them a try. I ordered the Strawberry Fields, a coconut and strawberry iced matcha topped with dried strawberries. The strawberries added a nice touch of sweetness, though they got soggy pretty quickly and weren't great to eat. The line wasn't too long, but drinks, especially the coffee one, seemed to take a bit longer to make. Luckily, my matcha came out faster than the orders before me. It looked like about a 12 oz cup. Flavor-wise, it was sweet and refreshing, but the strawberry notes definitely overpowered the matcha. Overall, it was a nice pick-me-up when other spots nearby were closed, though I think I still prefer Magick Matcha.

We spent $27 on 3 Kolaches that were possibly the worst things I have ever tasted. The jalapeno cheddar had cheese on one side of the bun/bread and a SLIVER of a jalapeno slice. Dough was chewy and so wet it was falling apart, while the sausage was cold and impossible to bite through it was so tough. My mistake for trusting a coffee shop inside a clothing store lol

Must try cookies!!!! I’ve been on the hunt for delicious chocolate chip cookies in Austin and i finally found one. The dough had lots of flavour, every bite is filled with high quality chocolate chip and the salted top elevates the flavours. Will definitely be back 🍪

Small, but mighty. Friendly service - come early, kolaches go fast. This is about as local as it gets, as the baked fare comes from Better Half just a hop, skip, and jump up the road and over the river. A Memorable Anniversary Dinner We visited this restaurant for the first time tonight to celebrate our anniversary. My husband made the reservation, so I had no idea what to expect—but from the moment we walked in, I was impressed. The ambiance was just right—elegant yet relaxed, with a great vibe that set the tone for a special evening. Our reservation was for 5:15 PM, and we were seated right away. We ended up staying until 8:00 PM, so be prepared to settle in and enjoy a leisurely dining experience. Everything we ate was absolutely fantastic. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed every course. The desert was surprisingly good! My husband is not a fan of sweets/chocolate, but he ate it all and enjoyed it! You can order cookies to go, so we had to try them. They were the right balance of sweet and salty. I am glad we took some home! Although we don’t have any dietary restrictions, we overheard another table mention how accommodating the restaurant is with food allergies and special requests, which is always great to know. Our server, Rina, made the evening even more enjoyable. She was friendly, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable—she gave us excellent recommendations and knew the food and drink menus inside and out. I highly recommend giving this place a try. We’ll definitely be back! Things to note: *** Be prepared to pay for parking as the free parking is very limited. *** 20% tip is included in tip, no matter the size party. ***The toilets are very small, I know it's odd to mention, but true.

Parking - there is a lot in front, though half of the spots were closed off for valet parking. This seemed unnecessary since the lot is right in front of the complex. Would recommend making reservations early as they can be hard to come by. They also offer a discount if dining early on Sundays, which is nice (check the website for pricing). The food and service were excellent. The servers were very attentive and friendly. They adjust the dishes as necessary to cater to allergies as well. Every dish was very tasty, although I would not recommend coming super hungry, because the portions are pretty small. We ordered the beef rib supplement, which was fine and helped fill us up, but a bit underwhelming overall (would not get again). The wine tasting was also a great experience and went well with the meal, though I would skip it next time (just because it’s too pricy). Overall everything was fantastic, I would definitely recommend coming here for a special occasion.

Had my birthday dinner here last night and it was such a great experience. The food was amazing, cocktails were awesome, and the service was excellent. Everyone was super friendly and they even personalized our menus with “Happy Birthday,” which was such a thoughtful touch. We sat at the chef’s counter and it was really cool to watch the kitchen in action. They also comped the brown butter cookies to take home for my birthday, and they were delicious. The only issue was that several dishes came out lukewarm or borderline cold. The butternut squash dish, the steak, the rib cap, the shrimp and grits, and a few others just weren’t the right temp. The steak especially was just cold. Everything tasted incredible, but it happened on multiple courses which was disappointing for the price point (around $500 total with tip and deposit). I didn’t say anything in the moment because I didn’t want to make a fuss on my birthday, but in hindsight I probably should have. Even with that, the food and service were great and I’d definitely come back. I just hope next time the temperature is dialed in because everything else was spot on.

Barkley Swine is a special restaurant where the food is creative, beautiful, and most importantly, delicious! There were several exceptional dishes including: 1. The tomato grilled peach, shishito chevre, candied pecan 2. XO verde, okra kimchi shrimp and grits 3. Shiitake Dumplings with Soft Scrambled Eggs 4. Mint Whip: lunchbox pepper jam, canteloupe granita, candied lime There wasn’t a bad bite in the menu and the wine pairing was lovely - great balance of acidity and richness to complement the dishes. My wife and I loved to see how detailed and meticulous the staff were, while at the same time it seemed they were having a lot of fun. It’s clear that they are not only masters of their crafts, but also extremely passionate about the food and drinks they’re putting out. Thank you, Barley swine for the lovely evening! Definitely the most unique experience in Austin!

I had an amazing time with my partner for our anniversary dinner. The team was so accommodating of our dietary restrictions and the service and food was great! There was one hiccup of when the wine pairing didn't come out with intended entrée, other than that, we were quite pleased with the quality of food, level of service, and atmosphere.
Desaya T — Google review
Plating and service was top notch. One dish was surprising and amazing. Most were fine. The ribeye had zero marbling and wasn't tender. I felt like I was eating a sirloin from Outback. It wasn't quite enough food which wasn't surprising but i expected to be more impressed.
Mikki B — Google review
Superb dining experience. The food just kept coming one course after another. It was all delicious. My favorite was the Shrimp and Grits, and the Hiramasa Crudo. My companion also enjoyed the Pork Cheek Carnitas with Eggplant Mole, as well as the Dry Aged Ribeye. My least favorite was the Black River Caviar accompanied supplement ($23). While the caviar was fresh, the sweet companion of the waffle cone was not a good mix of flavors. The Sunflower Miso layer cake was a delight. Not too sweet, and definitely refreshing. The wine pairings were exceptional and plentiful. The service was by far the best in town. It was casual, attentive, and left us wanting for nothing. We will definitely come back.

Amazing. Blown away! Everything was incredible. Every bite was so thought out and so much flavor. The cocktails were so good as well. Also get the take home Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies - to die for! 5 stars plus and more. The best anniversary celebration and experience! Make sure to get a reservation. Emmer & Rye is a trendy restaurant located in a warehouse-style setting, offering an innovative farm-to-table dining experience along with a selection of cocktails and wines. The establishment is part of the Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group, led by creative director Rand Egbert. Known for its high-end New American cuisine, the restaurant stands out in Rainey Street's food and beverage scene due to its unique approach to showcasing local ingredients and in-house fermentation techniques.
Emmer & Rye is a lively and inventive spot on Rainey Street, perfect for an evening of sharing plates and trying new flavors. We sat at the counter, which gave a great view of the kitchen team at work. The menu is designed for sharing, with several small to medium plates that change seasonally. Each dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor, and the pace of service was excellent , dishes arrived promptly but without feeling rushed. Staff were friendly, attentive, and happy to answer questions or recommend favorites. This is a very popular place, especially on weekends, so I’d recommend making a reservation in advance. The Rainey Street location adds to the atmosphere. Overall, Emmer & Rye delivers a memorable dining experience with great food, warm service, and a buzzing Austin vibe.

The place did not particularly stand out. Many of the dishes I tried shared a similar flavor profile, primarily salt and pepper. However, the bread and butter were quite nice. We ordered a majority of the dishes recommended by other reviewers, and they were just average. The service, on the other hand, was commendable.

The service was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, making the whole experience feel seamless and special. The atmosphere is modern yet inviting, perfect for a memorable night out. If you’re in Austin and looking for a place that combines innovative cuisine with flawless execution, Emmer & Rye is a must-visit. It’s the kind of restaurant that reminds you why dining out can be such a remarkable experience.

Entry: paid valet parking 1st - the bread is an absolute cannot miss. Incredible. I would hold off on the extra ham and cheese it was a bit unnecessary. 2nd - pasta’s - the highlight of the meal all were fresh and made in house. Highly recommend 3rd - mains - the chicken was good, not great, but a very good texas style smoked chicken. Loved this spot, definitely will come back for the bread and pasta. Perfect for a date night!

Emmer & Rye offers visitors a delicious lesson in Austin's culinary craft. The restaurant's reverence for heritage grains, milled in-house, is the soul of its menu. This fanatical approach results in pasta with a profound, nutty flavor and perfect texture that can redefine the dish. Throughout the menu, expert techniques like fermentation add a startling complexity to each thoughtful plate, showcasing a deep commitment to artisanship. This foundational craft is brilliantly complemented by the evening's main event: the roving dim sum-style cart. This unique service turns dinner into a dynamic experience, delivering a parade of spontaneous, off-menu small plates directly to your table. It’s the perfect way for visitors to sample the kitchen's full creativity, creating a sense of discovery that perfectly captures Austin's charm.

my boyfriend and i came here for our one year anniversary because we love to try all the michelin rated restaurants for special occasions, and we felt very let down by our experience. they started off sitting us 15 minutes late for our reservation, and then brought us 2 dishes we did not order, one that wasn’t even mentioned during our talk with the waitress while figuring out what all to get, and then we ended up feeling so bad about it, even though it wasn’t any fault of our own, we told them they didn’t have to give us the last dish that we actually ordered, even though it’s the one we really wanted. Thankfully they comped the two incorrect pastas and gave us a free cacio e pepe card that we probably won’t be using unfortunately. The food however was pretty good, our favorite being the cacio e pepe and johnny cakes, i didn’t like the ravioli that we didn’t order, but ended up eating, at all; the crudo was good but i feel all crudo taste pretty much the same for us so it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. the rigatoni we didn’t order was good, just not what we wanted, i only ended up trying one piece of the pasta. overall the least desirable experience we’ve had at any of the michelin rated places, probably won’t come back because we left feeling so awkward and like they were annoyed with us even though we did nothing wrong.

This was my second time to Emmer & Rye. The service was excellent and we really enjoyed the food. The carpaccio was a stand out. My only complaint was the temperature in the restaurant was slightly chilly. All else was top notch.

Cenote is a popular all-day cafe located in East Austin, known for its French pressed coffee, farm-fresh American cuisine, and Texas craft beer. The cafe is housed in a historic building dating back to 1887 and features an expansive patio that pays homage to the city's past.
Love this place for their great coffee menu in a rambling green house. Lovely shaded patio and several tables inside. Their iced chai is great. Looking forward to seeing their new location, though sad they're moving from this house. Free and paid street parking nearby.

New location delivers same great Cenote experience ❤️ Cenote will always hold a special place in my heart as the first meal I had in Austin when I moved here in 2016. The breakfast burrito was huge and delish and the mango salad with the well cooked and seasoned tofu was yummy! Prices are fair for Austin. It's my new go to recently for a breakfast without a long wait!

I have always loved this sacred East Austin treasure for its atmosphere alone. The new location is beautiful and colorful with local artwork and a large patio outdoor space and parking in the back. Food is super fresh, lots of healthy options. I love to come and work here for a few hours every week. 🙌🏻

Love this place! The food is so good and the prices are great! The biscuits hit the spot and the fries are quite unique, crispy and seasoned. There is a great selections of coffee and drinks. It has a charming ambience and you can either eat inside or outside. Love it!

Terrible experience. Ordered for pickup and there was zero system. We waited 30 minutes after our pickup time, having asked the workers on 4 different occasions where our order was, we got the same answer “I’ll ask the kitchen” with no update. Got to the point where I had to stop someone and demand an update, he then goes to the kitchen and probably took someone else’s order and gave it to us. When we checked the order it was all wrong and had missing items. He then went to the kitchen and added all the missing items in little to-go containers, some of which were missing items for a breakfast burrito, like avocado. The container given to us also only had a few thin slices of avocado, which was a $2 extra add on. I live right down the road from this place, and will not be going back

Cenote is a charming coffee shop and café set in a historic wooden building from 1887, giving it a distinct character and atmosphere. The old structure adds to its uniqueness, but it also comes with a noticeable aged scent, which might not be for everyone. The menu offers a great selection of food, coffee, beer, and wine. We tried the avocado toast, which was fresh and well-prepared. The large patio with a stage suggests they host live performances, adding to the café’s potential as an evening spot. While the space has its own vibe, it felt like something was missing for true coziness. Maybe it was the time of day we visited, but the place didn’t feel as lively or full as it could have been, making it seem less inviting. Still, it’s a nice spot with good offerings, worth checking out if you’re in the area.

I ordered a lavender vanilla cortado and it was delicious. Smooth, rich espresso, creamy texture, and the perfect hint of sweetness. So well balanced. The barista and staff were very friendly and helpful. I also had the chilaquiles, which was well executed. Crisp tortillas, flavorful sauce, and perfectly cooked fried eggs. Such a cute spot with both indoor and outdoor seating, perfect for a relaxed brunch or coffee.

The bartender (the one with large-ish heart, I'm thinking, based on my experience, possibly a type O negative, small aorta, overall pumping) made me feel TRULY special. SO funny. The salmon salad is AWESOME. also talk to your bartenders/ baristas :) theyre all lovely. Occasionally, on a good day, theyre so, so funny. So funny :) !

Dai Due is a renowned farm-to-table restaurant and butcher shop in Austin, Texas. Since its establishment in 2006, it has been a focal point of the community, offering locally sourced ingredients and an ever-changing menu. The rustic space provides a charming setting for enjoying their diverse offerings, which include an array of charcuterie, sandwiches, farm-fresh sides, and unique desserts that change daily.
We came here to celebrate our anniversary and had a wonderful time. We truly appreciated the team's excellent service. Food: The restaurant follows a farm-to-table concept, making everything fresh and high-quality. We ordered several items, but my favorite dish was the Lion’s Maine mushroom appetizer. - Green Salad: This was a light start to the meal. It had a stronger salt and citrus flavor, but I enjoyed it. - Lion’s Maine: This dish had a more pronounced acidity, but it balanced nicely with the green onions and grilled sourdough bread. - Dry-aged Longhorn Cheeseburger: It was good, but nothing exceptional. - Beef Fat Fries: These house-cut fries came with beet ketchup and chili mayo - Colossal Pork Chop: This was seared well and lightly seasoned, allowing the quality to shine through. While it was nice, it was on the fattier side. Service: Our server, Ana, was attentive and friendly, and we loved her energy. Ambiance: The decor was barn-house themed, creating a casual and welcoming yet semi-formal atmosphere. Overall, I loved the restaurant's concept, and the team was great. While I wasn’t blown away by the food, it was more on the comforting side. I’m looking forward to returning next time to try other items on the menu.

Amazing food; especially love the grilled pork chops. Menu changes constantly: Have been back multiple times already. Great dining environment. Very limited parking. Be prepared to park in the residential areas across the street during peak dining hours. Be prepared to make reservation 1-2 weeks in advance if you have a large party.

I have been hearing about this restaurant through various sources like the Meateater podcast, Jesse’s books, etc. I finally got a chance to eat here and it did not disappoint. My girlfriend was skeptical as she is not a game meat eater but the burger she had was “the best burger of her life”. My dinner was equally good and both starters we got were incredible. Next time I’m in town I plan on making another visit.
John W — Google review
Stopped by for their brunch, which is available 3 days a week. Biscuit with butter and jam, carnitas flautas and the longhorn cheeseburger were our choices for the afternoon. The biscuit with jam was tasty, with no complaints. The flautas were surprisingly girthy with plenty of meat inside. Something you don't see to often with this particular Tex-Mex dish. I'm never been a huge fan of flautas generally, so this did not blow my socks off, but overall a reccomend if interested. Lastly, we split the longhorn cheeseburger. Very juicy and messy, but tasty. The burger was not trying to do too much, but had it's own personality and was made with care. With all Due respect, why aren't you on your way to Dai Due? 4.5/5

Food was good but the price : food wasn’t worth it (but we come from Houston where food is cheaper and we get more). The service was good - frequent refills, check ups, and care but also slow. We didn’t make a reservation but were seated within 10 minutes. We made our order and waited almost 15 minutes to get our appetizer and then another 15-30 minutes for the main meal. The three of us ordered to share the boar confit, cheese burger, sourdough, and potatoes caroline. Our favorite was the boar confit but altogether the flavors were good but not great
Eric B — Google review
Great food. I had the seasonal dish: Grilled Wild Boar Filipino Longanisa Sausage with garlic rice, grilled eggplant salad, chives and an egg. It was excellent. They no longer sell sliced sausage or charcuterie out the front butcher cabinet, but there is still some frozen fresh ground sausages, bone broth, and their cookie dough in the freezer up front to purchase along with Jesse Griffiths books, some coffee beans, Dai Due apparel, etc.
Keith L — Google review
We showed up at 1pm on a Saturday thinking we may need a reservation but they seated us right away. Had the wild boar sandwich and the antelope sausage burger with beef talow fries. Was delicious! The service was also good and we were able to take biscuits to go. The only thing was the sandwich had a bit too much of mayo. I'd order it on the side next time. Would definitely come again!
Kevin M — Google review
There is no praise that this restaurant doesn't deserve. Ethically hunted game meat and in-season local produce ensures that your meal is high quality and guilt-free. We had the longhorn burger and wild boar chops (menu changes based on season) and it was everything and more than we expected. Fries are fried in beef tallow. Visit as often as you can!

Coffee shop
Angel Donuts and Treats is an independent bakery and cafe known for its unique donut flavors, cake balls, kolaches, bubble tea, and coffee. The menu features a variety of treats including traditional donuts as well as the best selection of gluten-free options in town. With flavors like Strawberry Cake and Reeses Cake, along with cake balls and excellent bubble tea, this spot offers delicious treats that may change your perspective on flour-based goodies.
A Haven for Coffee and Donut Lovers: Tucked away in the heart of Austin, Texas, lies a gem that will captivate your senses and leave you craving for more – Angel's Donuts and Treats. This cute bakery and coffee shop seamlessly blends vintage charm with modern delights, making it an absolute must-visit. Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the unique layout. The entrance I used led me into a spacious, living-room-like area complete with plush couches and seats, exuding warmth and coziness. A narrow passageway, reminiscent of an alley, guided me to the cashier and ordering area, flanked by another entrance and an inviting patio with additional seating outdoors. This clever design creates an intimate atmosphere, perfect for relaxing and indulging. The aroma of freshly baked donuts wafted through the air, teasing my taste buds and building anticipation. I opted for the iced mocha, original glazed donut, and chocolate sprinkle donut – a trio that would prove to be a match made in heaven. The iced mocha was velvety smooth, rich, and expertly crafted, with a deep, satisfying flavor that rivalled some of the best coffee shops in the city. Paired with the donuts, it was a symphony of flavors and textures. The original glazed donut was a masterclass in simplicity, boasting a delicate balance of sweetness and tender, fluffy interior. The chocolate sprinkle donut added a delightful pop of color and flavor, its moistness and subtle chocolate notes elevating the experience. Beyond the exceptional food and drink, Angel's Donuts and Treats boasts an impressive collection of board games and books, inviting patrons to linger and socialize. This thoughtful touch transforms the space into a vibrant community hub, fostering connections and memories. Price Range: Moderate ($5-$10 per person) Angel's Donuts and Treats has earned its place as a beloved Austin institution, offering an unparalleled blend of delicious treats, cozy atmosphere, and community spirit.

They have more than one option for gluten free. All the items I got were gluten free. I got a chocolate frosted donut, chocolate chip muffin, chocolate chip cookies (package of 2) and a white chocolate mocha frappe (with coffee). My total was $20.04 Everything in the case is clearly labeled. The lady at the counter was very friendly and knowledgeable. Donut was cakey, but not too thick. It had chocolate icing. Muffin was so soft. Tasted buttery and not too sweet for being chocolate chip. I ate it the fastest out of the items. Cookies look like they were hard, but they were soft once you bit into them. Frappe was a good accompaniment to my breakfast.

For a donut shop they have a lot of things to eat - from cake balls to donuts to bubble tea. They have mochi donuts and regular donuts and kolaches. They have cheesecake and desserts in jars. If you want a little bit of this and a little bit of that this is the place to go. They weren't the best ever but they were solid desserts. Everything tasted fresh and good. Solid choices all around. The bubble tea was my least favorite thing we tried (but this is a donut and treat shop after all). They have cute decor and games you can play if you want a hangout spot.

This isn’t a place one should sleep on, if you’re passing by, if you live in the area, this place is essential. Coffee, something savory, something sweet; this place checks all the boxes and then some. I got myself a Coffee, Kolache, and Donut of the Day (Pumpkin Spice as of writing this review). And the price? Exceptional ranging anything less than $12 for the three items I mentioned; which, for comparison, is better value than getting 2 items from the other Guys. Not to mention the People that work here were chill. Angel Donuts and Treats. Check it.

This place was a hidden gem I found driving around in the four points austin area. They had shelves of vegan donuts here, vegan cinnamon roll vegan beignets, vegan cinnamon twists, and vegan kolaches!! This is an amazing place to stop by for a donut for vegans and regular people. There is non vegan options as well such as cake balls canolis. Ice cream sandwiches, macaroons, cake balls. I highly recommend the vegan mochi donuts!! A unique donut experience. Taste like an extra fried crispy donut, my new favorite donut!! They also had a vegan fruit pebble donut here that was really cool! So many options here I could go on. Just know that this place won't disappoint you. If you're in the area stop on by and support this local business! You can taste the quality ❤️❤️

Best donuts ever!!! I don’t like donuts in general but I will eat an entire bag of the largest donuts holes that are served here. My family has been going here since 2008 and all our family and friends who visit love it as much as we do. The kolaches are amazing. We can’t wait till they reopen.

These are the best donuts in the area. They are much better than Shipley’s in my opinion. They do often seem to get a late start, I have been by there twice at 7am and they were still closed. Their yeast donuts are the best, but they also have cake donuts, kolaches, and breakfast tacos.
Chris S — Google review
Wasn’t a fan. I have been looking for a good donut shop for awhile. Tried here because of the reviews. Got there 45 minutes after they open hoping to have a good selection since it seemed so popular by the reviews, and they didn’t have any glazed yeast donuts. Only cake donuts. They told me that the yeast donuts wouldn’t be done for awhile. That frustrated me because our family prefers yeast donuts. Looking at the reviews everyone raves about their stuff that isn’t yeast donuts. I got some cake donuts, several old fashions, bacon maple, apple fritters, etc. bacon maple had way more frosting than I’m used to on a bacon donut. They were just okay. Just felt like a huge waste of money. I should have just left instead of buying donuts I’m not that interested in.

10/10 experience with KC Donuts. We ordered ahead for a birthday party and got our exact order on time. The donuts are phenomenal. You'd think it's hard to mess up a donut.. but somehow these donuts are just better than any we've had around. Photo includes KC donuts, my display and decorations

I've been going to this place since highschool back in 07. Originally I used to come in for the breakfast tacos every so often. It wasn't until recently did I start coming to the donuts. I've not gone to another donut place since. I absolutely LOVE THESE DONUTS!!! I recommend them to everyone. Ask for the Texas sized donut holes

I always stopped by for breakfast. My fav is cherry kolaches. Till a few weeks ago, the workers. A guy and a woman contacted to the stalker on me. And I decided to stop and not going there till today I decided to see if they are still doing it and the guy who works still contacted to the stalker on me. And their raspberry kolaches were not fresh. :(

Ordered from here and there is a STAPLE in my kolache. Thankfully we noticed it before we ate it but that would have been horrible. Completely dangerous and won't be going back. That could have caused serious damage.
Aaron W — Google review
Very underwhelming. First of all when walking into the place the is a strong smell of the Fabuloso cleaner. Somehow that smell also gets on the food they serve there. The Kolaches, you know the pastries with the filling on the top center, are far from authentic and not even very good. They are round shaped when they should be square, The pastries dont even taste very fresh. The cinnamon roles ar much better.
Greg M — Google review
YUMMY!!!!! I ordered a pepperoni kolache and a blueberry and cream cheese pastry and they were both VERY filling!!!! The pepperoni was delicious! The blueberry and cream cheese was delicious too! The breading on this tasted similar to a sweet Hawaiian roll. Which i loved so not a problem but it’s not a flaky croissant like breading that’s my all time favorite. Yes i have bias. But still very good. I saw on the menu they had Frappuccino and this one is the bottled Starbucks one you can buy at the store. I was expecting like a latte style but the bottle is still very good. Everything was not very expensive i think the bottle was the most. The food was anywhere from $1-3 each. For how filling they were i think it was a great price. They also warmed up items! Very grateful for that. The area is nice and open. No music really plays. Everything is clean and smells neutral expect when something hot is out :) Will be returning for more!

Shipley Do-Nuts offers a diverse range of yeast, cake, and filled donuts, along with kolaches, espresso drinks, and smoothies. The interior is surprisingly spacious with ample seating options and an impressive selection. Despite being relatively quiet on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm, the staff member on duty was exceptionally kind and patient. It's likely that the mornings and weekdays are much busier. This charming little shop is conveniently located.
Absolute shout out to this place! Last Sunday we did a DoorDash order close to closing time. They left us a note saying they didn’t have the donuts we ordered but they gave us what they had and extra of it. Thanks for the incredible service, thanks for not canceling my order and just sending us a bunch of donuts. We loved it!!!!

$25 for 4 kolaches that are basically 1 hotdog weenie per 1 pound of bread. Didn't even taste good, I'll never buy there again. Pic is after I peeled off the bread, you can see the extra bread in the background.

The donuts were okay they didn'tsem as fresh as what I'm use to. The service and welcoming atmosphere could be better compared to other Shipleys locations. Didn't feel welcomed and the people working the front seemed confused.
PORSCHA M — Google review
The prices here have become a bit much. For 2 kolaches and a coffee, it was $14. Maybe if the quality and freshness were there, it would make sense. But the coffee is basic gas station coffee, and the kolaches tasted like they've been under a heat lamp. There are too many other good places around. You can pass on this one.
Kinzington M — Google review
Well, we went around 2:30pm on Black Friday. We got 3 glazed donuts and a small bag of donut holes. (The pic shows 2 donuts because I ate one before we got home). The cost was $7.00!!!! Yikes! I wished we had just traveled a few miles further to the Round Rock Donut Shop where the donuts are more flavorful, soft and less expensive. I’ll never go back to Shipley’s.

Didn’t have a grade for the atmosphere- used the drive thru. Felt like it was more expensive than Shipley’s at home, the order was half incorrect, and the quality of the food for being 6am felt like the donuts were cooked yesterday.

Crown Donuts is a delightful gem that has quickly captured the hearts of its visitors. Known for their delicious boudin kolache, which even impresses those with Cajun roots, this charming spot offers complimentary donut holes when you purchase multiple kolaches. The donuts here are far from your typical sugary treats; they are crafted with care and taste like exquisite pastries. Guests rave about the warm and fresh breakfast sandwiches, making it an ideal stop for a quick morning meal before work.

We love this place!! Not only do their donuts not taste like sugary slop and instead like wonderful pastries, they are always so kind and helpful when we come in. Today we tried their breakfast sandwiches and they were warm, fresh, and amazing! We were even given a bag of free donut holes. We love coming in and appreciate all the work the owners do. The store itself is also so cute and clean every time we see it! Theyre open later than every other donut shop so even when we wake up late we can have their food!

The people here are really so sweet, the donuts are good, and the breakfast sandwiches, haven’t tried much else. Sometimes you get complimentary treats which is nice. There is a real small business feel. Excellent experience every time I come! Ive purchased just for me and for events and it’s always really smooth experience. My fav are the mochi donuts 🤤

I ordered a dozen this morning (8.18) and they showed up, looked delicious. Unfortunately they were as stale as anything I’ve ever eaten. Granted they were door dashed, and had some travel time, but they tasted like they were made three days ago and sat on the counter for all that time. My wife and youngest got the kolaches and they were stale and flavorless.

I’ll pop in some mornings before work to grab a quick breakfast. The lady (owner?) working is always very friendly. The boudin kolache has quickly become my favorite kolache here. It’s hefty and delicious. I haven’t tried many of the donuts yet, since this place is still new to me. I will say that the blueberry cake donut is fantastic though. Very soft and moist.

First off, this place is my favorite donut shop in N Austin area! They are the only shop with great tasting cinnamon rolls that I've had so far. I'm not a fan of iced cinnamon rolls and most donut shops make them that way except this one. They do have a great variety of donuts. However, since they're so good, the good supply runs out kinda quick, unfortunately. And also the reason this is isn't a 5 star review is because my husband bought an eclair and said the filling tasted like nail polish. Our 5YO son said he liked the outside but not the cream because it tasted like chemicals. Not sure if anyone else has experienced that... anyways.. aside from that, love this little donut shop. Customer service is always top notch 👌🏻

Combo Donuts is a delightful little bakery nestled in the heart of Austin, where simplicity reigns supreme. This charming spot specializes in classic donuts and kolaches, offering a no-frills experience that emphasizes quality over trends. As you step inside, the warm aroma of freshly baked treats envelops you, inviting you to indulge. Locals rave about their soft glazed donuts, delectable apple fritters, and colorful sprinkle cake donuts—each bite bursting with flavor without being overly sweet.
I think this is my new favorite donut shop ✨ We went around 11:30am on a Saturday, and luckily there were still plenty of kolaches and donut options available. Here’s what we got... We ordered a small sausage and cheese kolache and a large sausage and jalapeño kolache, heated up, and they were perfect. They also have croissant kolaches which I’m very interested in trying in the future. I wanted to try the glazed donuts as a baseline… and it was incredible. Pillowy soft and delicious. One of the best glazed donuts I’ve ever had. I’m sure the donut holes are incredible. I always have to get a sprinkle donut, so we got a chocolate with sprinkles and a white with sprinkles. They were both great, but I would definitely get the white sprinkle donut next time. Lastly my partner ordered a lemon filled donut, and he loved it.

My heart wants to gatekeep so bad. Best dough in Austin hands down. Koloches, croissant sandwiches, donuts. Always so soft and delicious.

This is the best donut shop in town!! The donuts are always so fresh and soft, I can’t get enough. Plus the staff is always so sweet🫶🏼 Love this place!!!

I love this place. Unassuming. Friendly, not trendy. Fresh donuts and kolaches. A haven of old school in a neighborhood of trendy hipsters.
Casey Y — Google review
I am very picky about donuts and would have to say that thus far this place has THE best in Austin. More trendy places have crazy toppings but the donut base is terrible. Here its no frills, basic toppings but the donuts are FANTASTIC-- glazed donut was tender, chewy, and not too covered with sugar glaze. Good size too. At 99cents each, probably the best deal in town.
Amy L — Google review
this place has the best kolaches in the area – I've tried plenty lol. On top of that the primary lady who works there is super nice and friendly. I only ever go to another place when they are closed, but it's never the same.

Combo Donuts is truly a hidden gem of South Lamar! This place has the best kolaches, and the most incredible donuts, in all of Austin. The dough they use for everything here is out of this world and makes all their products so fluffy and delicious. Margaret and her family are also the kindest, friendliest people- I’m happy to support such a great local business. Combo Donuts really can’t be beat! A few of my favorite items: Sausage and cheese kolache Boudain kolache Maple donuts Croissant bacon sandwhich Donut holes

Restaurant
Better Half Coffee & Cocktails is a vibrant cafe and coffee shop by day, transforming into a lively spot for cocktails and delicious fare in the evening. Located in downtown Austin, it offers globally inspired dishes alongside an array of beverages including coffee, draft cocktails, wine, craft ciders, and beer. The venue's cheery oasis features a pink picnic table-laden patio where patrons can enjoy quality non-alcoholic options or indulge in espresso and tequila shots.
Better Half has been on our radar for a long time now, so we popped in for a late weekday breakfast. The property is really nice with a number of inside seating spots as well as plenty of outside seating under some lovely, old oak trees. We ordered the Breakfast Sandwich (with sausage), the Fried Chicken Biscuit (spicy), and the Cauliflower Tots. Even though they were a bit busy, the food came out quickly. Both sandwiches were really delicious. The flavors in the breakfast sandwich all melded together really nicely. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the biscuit was buttery and fluffy. The tots weren't our favorite, but they were nice and crunchy with a sweet beet ketchup. I'd love to come back to try more items from their menu as well as their coffee and cocktails.
Brittany E — Google review
Great Vibe and Good Food, Definitely Worth a Visit This is my third time coming to Better Half, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. I ordered the half Chop Chop salad, the single chicken bacon burger, and a veggie burger. It’s hard not to like this place. The amount of property they have means you can almost always find a seat, which is a nice. If you’re into alcohol, I’m sure you’d really enjoy it here as they have a great selection. It’s hard to beat a $7 chicken/beef burger though the patty itself is a bit on the thin side. Everything was solid—the food was good, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was enjoyable. It definitely feels like a spot that you could always go to and know what you’re getting.
Austin M — Google review
This place is definitely popular, but I found myself underwhelmed by the famous cauliflower tots and the breakfast sandwich. They didn’t live up to the hype for me. The cauliflower tots were crispy but, like the breakfast sandwich, could benefit from more flavor. However, the beetroot ketchup had a unique taste to it. On a positive note, the lemon olive oil cake and the queso were delightful. As for the coffee, I was disappointed. The caramel sea salt cold brew tasted more like vanilla, with barely any caramel or sea salt flavors coming through. The lavender latte was watery. Overall, nothing really hit the mark. The best part of the place, though, is definitely the vibe. The outdoor patio is spacious, with plenty of shaded seating and a cozy bar area in the corner, covered in vines and string lights. Inside, there’s a nice mix of seating options so whether you want a couch or a high table they have it all. And they have a little kiddie pool outside where you can dip your feet, which is nice, and dogs are allowed, so if you’re just looking for a chill place to hang out, it’s great, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for the food or drinks.
Diana X — Google review
I’ve visited this restaurant three times, and it’s consistently solid. My recent Saturday brunch really stood out. The food is flavorful and well-executed, with a thoughtful concept that shines through in the menu. The space is clean, modern, and stylish, creating a welcoming vibe. My only gripe is the crowd—expect a wait, especially on weekends, though the kitchen turns out dishes quickly. If you’re local, this spot’s probably already on your radar.
Tim B — Google review
Truly one of the most mediocre places I’ve been to that is trying to be trendy. The breakfast sandwich was so underwhelming for the price. No seasoning, no salsa, no sauce. Just a bunch of fried elements without seasoning. It was very one note and nothing to it. Difficult to eat. Coffee was okay, much prefer other places in Austin. Super loud inside.
Sandy Z — Google review
I've always loved Better Half, it was a tried and true spot for me for years. I came back to grab a salad for lunch for the first time in about a year and I am sad to say it has gone downhill. $48 for two very un-fresh disheveled "half" salads, and a dirty table. I am so sad to have spent so much for so little, but more sad to see a place I once loved not holding their standard.
Loren S — Google review
We loved this place so much on our trip to Austin that we went a few times during the week. We didn’t have too long of a wait each time but we were there during off season and not peak hours. There’s plenty of outdoor seating which was so nice on a warm day. The coffee was good and I appreciated their baked goods. The breakfast sandwiches were also good.
Britt — Google review
This is just fun. Cocktails and Cafe. Small indoor space and lots of outdoor picnic table seating. I worked with the sides menu for my G.F. options, the Offspring had eggs and pancakes. Coffee and latte options. We had breakfast here twice while in town.

Their Instagram showcases an array of creative designs, from dinosaurs to palm trees to Pikachus.
The donuts are delicious. My first time trying them and they were one of the best donuts I've tried. I have gone to a couple of donuts shops around this area and I feel like this one is one of the best one. 😊 10/10 recommend.

On occasion, my family and I enjoy their donuts when we’re in the area. We absolutely love everything from them. From the apple fritters to the jelly donuts and donut holes - my husband and two sons devour them quickly. I restrain myself as best as I can but I end up eating more than I anticipate. When I’ve gone, I’ve noticed others purchase their kolaches so those will be ordered on our next pickup.

Very fast and very friendly staff! This place must be popular because I came at 7:00am on a Tuesday and it was packed and the cases were starting to empty out. The apple fritter was nice and crispy but I wish it had more cinnamon flavor to it. The regular donuts and nice and fluffy and buttery.

Absolutely delicious! Everything tastes so fresh and made with care. I’m particularly obsessed with their Boudain kolaches — mmm 😋 The texture is sublime, & the sausage is flavorful with a perfectly spicy kick. The cream cheese Danish is so nice, fluffy yet dense dough, baked like a treasured family recipe. Consistently fantastic. Highly recommended! Thank you :)

If you're in Austin and have a craving for something sweet, look no further than Grand Donuts. This charming local shop is a haven for donut lovers, offering an impressive selection that ranges from classic glazed to inventive specialty flavors like Nutella and Reese's. The donuts are freshly made, boasting a soft texture that melts in your mouth. The donuts I had were freshly fried and glazed and they were so good. Perfect on a weekday morning. There were so many people and yet the owners and customers all moved quickly and efficiently. I can see why they had a line on a Wednesday morning.

You can tell the quality of donut place by their simple glazed donut. Theirs is divine. Along with everything else there. Kolaches are top notch with soft flavorful dough, the breakfast sandwiches and donuts (all types) are superb. The service is great and the people working there are lovely. Also amazing prices which is unheard of in Austin. Perfect local donut shop. No notes.

Friendly staff very welcoming. Competitively prices. Went to 4 different small donut places this morning(day after Christmas) and this was the only one open. Donuts didn't look all that appetizing(specifically the frosting) but haven't tried any yet so the jury's still out on quality hence 4 not 5 stars. I may and or may not try one. If I do, I'll update as per the results. Update: donuts were subpar, and staff increased tip without my permission. Will never return here.

This place is great and hidden. Breakfast tacos for under $2. And they are fully loaded. The ladies at the counter are very nice and fast. They also have doughnuts and coffee. If you are in a hurry and want something that is fast, cheap AND good, this is the place. It’s a small place so dining in is probably ok, but to go is best.

You want donuts? Tacos? And meat kolaches? DTP2 has you covered. The breakfast tacos are sinful and they're a buck fifty. This place is hardly a palace but in my mind it's the Taj Mahal, I visit here every other weekend and will continue to do so for the rest of my days.

Lone Star Kolaches is a delightful casual eatery that specializes in delectable puff pastries, offering both sweet and savory fillings. Their fruit kolaches are particularly noteworthy, often hailed as the best around, while the sausage jalapeno cheese variety has garnered rave reviews for its flavor. The Texas-sized baked cinnamon roll is another must-try treat that adds to their impressive menu. After a disappointing experience at a nearby donut shop, many have found solace in Lone Star Kolaches' offerings.
I just absolutely adore this little spot. The kolache’s are fantastic. My fav is actually the breakfast tacos though. A perfect quick tasty adorable meal on the go. One of my absolute favorite quick breakfast spots. Always served with a smile

Went here for the first time this morning around 8:00am and half way into my kolache I found a bug/SPIDER in my EGG, ham and cheese croissant. Threw the rest away. I’ve been to other Lonestar Kolaches in Austin and they’ve been great!!! Not sure what happen but PLEASE clean your skillets, etc before you cook in them! It might have been a fluke, but I won’t be coming back to this location any time soon.

Meh! Since the Czech stop is so far away, I thought I’d check this place out . I was very disappointed :/ The bread was dry and not soft. The cream cheese , lumpy and more savory than sweet . The chocolate kolache , seemed as if they poured Hershey’s syrup on top. Mediocre at best.
Rebecka K — Google review
I went there this past weekend and ordered a couple kolaches and 2 egg/potato breakfast tacos. The tacos didn't taste fresh and were dry (overcooked maybe or sitting too long). The kolaches also weren't good; will be going to Shipley's in the future (as they have very good ones and are across the street. I thought I'd give another biz a try). Disappointed!
Kelli D — Google review
Drove 20 minutes to get kolaches and the door is locked. It's 1:35, open sign is lit up, and hours on the door say they close at 2:30. What a waste of time.

My husband comes in pretty regularly and we buy kolaches for 10 of us for game days on weekends. One day I had family in town and my husband told my mother if she could pick up a couple of dozen kolaches. When she got the cashier was very rude. The cashier told my mom how dare she order so much it’s gonna lose her customers. To that I say you were never planning on having customers if 2 -3 dozen of assorted items would wipe you out. Also maybe don’t sell by the dozen if you can’t produce the dozen. Do better business. We will no longer come to this establishment out of your concern of wiping you out.
Izabel S — Google review
Absolutely love this place for breakfast kolaches. No one makes them like they do, and Lucy and they whole staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. I would go every day if I could, absolutely love the chicken quesadilla and ranchero ones

Howdy Donut is a beloved gem in Austin, Texas, that showcases the idea that you don’t need a massive social media presence to be exceptional. This charming donut shop has become a local favorite due to its delightful selection of soft and fluffy donuts paired with warm, friendly service. Guests can indulge in classic glazed options or explore an array of toppings like cereal, caramel, sprinkles, and chocolate chips.
I love the Sausage kolaches (not arguing about what are true kolaches) and donut holes. Everything was good, they have extremely fast service, got everything i needed for feeding coworkers in just a few minutes. Super convenient
Scott P — Google review
I was scrolling Yelp looking for a good local donut place to pick up some donuts for my coworkers when I came across Howdy Donuts - turned out to be a great choice! I went in around 8:00am, and you could tell they'd already been hit by the morning crowd, but the girl working assured me she was working on more batches in the back! I told her to give me 2 dozen variety of her favorite ones and she gave me quite the assortment - chocolate cake glazed, both chocolate and strawberry sprinkles, red velvet cake, pumpkin, sugar, chocolate on chocolate glazed and blueberry glazed. My favorite was the blueberry glazed but from the many thanks and yums I received from my team, I'd have to say they were all good! Highly recommend!
Victoria O — Google review
I’ve been here a few times and it’s frustrating. Even when you plan out the donuts based on their confusing menu concerning 2 topping, 3 topping, specialty donut you order based on the dozen price and then they ring each donut up individually and you’re paying $22 for a dozen basic donuts. It’s like what are we doing? This isn’t Voodoo donuts where you expect the big price for a unique donut. This is a strip mall donut place with the same basic donuts. No one charges a premium for blueberry cake donuts. This place charges $2.50 each. I dislike that on something so simple as donuts there is no transparency in their pricing.
James C — Google review
Made to order breakfast tacos was a pleasant surprise. Very tasty with a warm fresh tortilla. (most other places pre make their breakfast tacos causing the tortillas to get soggy) The atmosphere was very clean and organized. I will definitely be back.
Shann M — Google review
I love this place and so does everyone else! 💕 They have the BEST donut holes I've ever had in my life. The jalapeno bacon croissant kolaches are everything which is why they sell out. One of the women (maybe the owner?) is so bubbly and kind. When they were out of the croissant kolache, she suggested trying the croissant sandwich. I said, "ooh, yeah! Let's do that!" And excitedly, she says, "we could also put jalapeños on it!" "Omg yes! Perfect!" It was a whole cute vibe of genuine, bubbly kindness. ✨️ Everything I've had has been delicious and I love finding small businesses that excel and genuinely enjoy their work. Thanks, Howdy Donut! 🍩

Cristal B — Google review
I've been here three times now. I usually order a donut or two, iced chai, and a croissant or kolache. Food is great. Iced chai is ok. Kinda pricey. You can definitely tell who they cater to (I.e. not working people like myself). Service is usually slow and today set the tone for any future visits, meaning I won't be visiting again. Arrived 945a, was there until close to 10. Got most of the food relatively quickly; the croissant for some reason took longer than expected. I was waiting watching about 4 to 6 people roll through after I had ordered waiting on the croissant and the large iced chai I'd ordered, seeing them all getting their food and coffee, yet no acknowledgement of me waiting. I finally receive the croissant and still waiting on the drink. I have to approach the counter again, can barely understand them and they me, and they then begin on my drink. It arrives, wrong size. No apology, just a refund. Seemed like they just wanted me out the door so they could move on to the next one. I'd recommend not wasting your money or time, but that's up to you. Other places closer to home, not work, will be getting my business. I will not be returning.

Super Donuts in Manor is a local favorite for delicious donuts and breakfast items. The welcoming atmosphere and friendly service make it a great place to start your day. While the coffee options could be improved, the freshly made donuts are soft, light, and simply delightful. Although seating is limited, it's perfect for a quick grab-and-go breakfast or meeting up with friends from nearby areas.

Finally had the chance to stop by and I was not disappointed, nor was my mother. We both had the sausage egg & cheese croissant and it was perfect. I had a donut twist and she got the apple fritter. No complaints! Very well made. Soft and light texture, not chewy or doughy. The woman at the counter was very nice and friendly. All around a great experience. I will be visiting again for sure 👍

My first time trying this place was this morning, I just happened to pass by and thought to myself, a donut sounds good! I enter into the store and asked the girl being the counter is they accepted Apple Pay. She responded yes. Perfect. I lately came for a donut or 2, once I get to the register she says “there’s is a $5 minimum” so I ended up spending $7 just to get 2 donuts. The fact that they still hold on to that is insane, that went out ages ago. Most ppl don’t carry cash and I feel like it’s just their way of making extra cash. And the donuts were ok. I won’t be returning here. If the donuts were super good for the extra money I had to spend, I’d probably feel better about it.

I have been coming to this donut shop for 3 years to buy the same exact thing for my 5 year old daughter and I. The last couple times I came the donuts were extremely dry. But it’s convenient to where we live so I kept going. But today was the last straw. When I went in this weekend she was training a new girl. Of course she spoke hardly any English. The new girl rung me up and said there was a 5$ limit in order to use my card. I told her I come there all the time for years and was never ever told that. So here comes the girl that always works there and she has this nasty disgusting attitude towards me and tells me don’t u see the sign on the wall? I said yes the sign has been up for years and u have NEVER SAID ANYTHING to me about it before. And of course I didn’t have any cash on me so I ended up buying more donuts that I didn’t want so my daughter could have hers. I totally understand the whole credit card limit fee. But as a frequent reoccurring customer I expected her to have more respect for me and the way she talked to me. It was completely out of line. And that’s not how u treat customers. She easily could have said “ I know u come in here all the time so next time it should be over 5$ if you use a card”. There is a million ways she could have handled the situation better. This is not how you run a business. I will NOT be back here. Shipley’s is only 1 street over anyways.

Nestled in the vibrant East Austin, Saddle Up is a charming bungalow that offers a delightful blend of beer, coffee, and homemade pastries. This family-friendly spot boasts an expansive backyard where kids can frolic while adults unwind. The highlight of this venue is its two fantastic food trucks parked out back: the award-winning Micklethwait BBQ and Taco Bronco, which creatively incorporates smoked meats from Micklethwait into their taco offerings.
Where to eat in Austin, there are plenty of choices! We went with Saddle Up and Micklethwait. I had the two meat plate (rib and pork shoulder) with the coleslaw and potato salad. The meat is sooo, tender and the coleslaw is delicious! The other adult had brisket with Mac and cheese which was also delicious. Yes, the line is long but totally worth it! We had a drink while in line and another with our food, they have cider! good thing we were walking to BookPeople after our meal. We also bought a couple of cookies and they did not last the drive back to the hotel.

We came here while on a boys trip to Austin to grab a quick beer and enjoy the outdoor weather. They have plenty of space outdoors, and some very limited indoors, with a food truck serving up BBQ options and sides. I did think the overall beverage selection could be increased, but the options they did have were excellent. This is a great spot for large groups and we look forward to coming back!

Fun combo of great bbq, beer, pastries, picnic tables, and music. I also enjoyed their little containers of ice cream, in my case peanut butter parfait.

Great Addition to the neighborhood! This cute little beer garden has an extensive selection of beers and snacks. They also have two iconic food trucks in their back patio (Micklethwait & Taco Bronco). They also have snack options We bought a 6 pack of Live Oak Hefeweizen, beef jerky, and 2 fruit pastries (I believe it was the Kolaches). We were impressed with both the pastries and beef jerky. Great place to hang out given their patio is quite spacious and has large tables for bigger groups.

Great relaxing place for a beer or wine! Love the vibe here. The outdoor seating area is pretty large. They have a really good taco food truck as well! Check them out.

Huge patio - great for big groups & socializing! Also, you can’t beat the food trucks in the backyard - Mickelthwait & Taco Bronco both slap 💯💯cute spot on the east side with a great selection of beer & wine!

Saddle Up Austin is where you go for drinks if you’re hitting up Micklethwait BBQ. Saddle up has beers and a few frozen cocktails like my frozen sangria. Friendly staff, go support local!

Food is awesome, especially the jerky. Great selection of craft beer and other alcohol to go.
