Arpeggio Grill is a charming eatery that offers Greek-centric Mediterranean cuisine. The dark and cozy dining room, with traditional floor seating, exudes the faint scent of hookah from the adjacent lounge, mingled with aromas of olive oil and gyro meat. The extensive menu includes everything from pizza and wings to kofta kabob and slow-cooked lamb shanks.
One of my top halal restaurant choices in Austin. Everything is delicious. They offer a lunch special. We ordered their giant pizzas and some wings for a superbowl party. Everyone enjoyed it. I’ve tried their halal beef burgers and can say it’s the best burger in Austin.
Amira B — Google review
Areggio Grill is a Mediterranean and Greek restaurant in central Austin. The atmosphere is interesting, it’s dark and somewhat mysterious feeling, and there is a floor seating area in the corner by the fireplace. Here you take off your shoes and sit on the floor instead of a table. They have a lot of standard dishes like euros, and the lemon chicken and rice soup, and a lot of Mediterranean style appetizers. The portions are decent, albeit not huge, and the food is filling.
Steve T — Google review
I love this place! They have delicious food and a great atmosphere! I love the floor seating. They have a good selection of vegan options. They have vegan pizza! You can get Daiya cheese - personally not my favorite vegan cheese but it’s great they have the option! I got the lentil soup, hummus and tabbouleh! The lentil soup is really good.
Chelsea L — Google review
This place has great food and a nice atmosphere. The Gyro Sandwich Combo is tasty and filling for the price, and the hummus is fresh and delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough
Carlos C — Google review
Great Mediterranean restaurant you order at the counter at lunch time you can make combinations from the different dishes at dinner from the menu. Chicken shawerma was delicious with nice fluffy pita bread To eat, you can sit at the table or at the carpet the traditional way With fare prices is a most to visit
Ale — Google review
First time here, came during lunch for my break. They have a section were the food is ready to eat and is visible to the guests. Since it is ready to eat it can be fast to get your food. They also have an option where you can order of a menu specific things you want. The service was very friendly and helpful. The gentlemen that was taking our order was very helpful and guided us through how to order. Food was good, try the lamb! They also have Hot tea available if you want to opt out on a cold drink. The ambiance is great and it makes you feel like you’re in their country trying their food.

This an amazing place to eat and chat! I go in for the weekly lunch buffet special. Where I get a healthy/wholesome lunch for under $20. The staff is always welcoming. The lunch is surprisingly fresh with every visit. Their seating is always clean and they even have floor seating for adults to reserve. I plan to make this my typical lunch spot while I go back to school. It's less than 5 minute drive to ACC/ Highland campus/Aveda!
Steven D — Google review
We tried a few dishes and they were all good. The burgers made with gyro or shawarma were pretty good and so were the kabobs. The atmosphere is nice but very basic. Service also rather basic but friendly. #halal

Santorini Cafe is a local eatery in the city that specializes in Greek cuisine. They have an expansive menu with dishes that you won't find at most other restaurants and their patio is a great place to relax and enjoy some of their delicious food. The staff is friendly and inviting, making it a great spot to stop by for lunch or dinner.
LOW KEY CASUAL GREEK AUSTIN VIBES! Was on my way to work and needed to grab some quick food. Found this strange pocket of restaurants off North Lamar, with several highly rated restaurants. Noticed this Greek place, which was the highest rated out of all of them and decided to try it since Greek is one of my favorite foods. The restaurant feels like a converted house, like a lot of original Austin restaurants. It’s got fun and cool decor, and a family owned feel, which I love. I ordered the chicken lunch plate and the baba ganoush to go. I was delighted and surprised to find a small bonus order of beignets with my food! Which is very nice The food is really good. The service was nice and the vibe was cool and casual. A great spot for lunch or a low-key dinner date. Would definitely recommend and eat here again.
Xuan R — Google review
First time trying Greek cuisine, so we have no knowledge or expectations how it goes, but then we enjoyed the food much! Chicken lemon soup is somewhat too sour for us, but very special kinda soup. Lamb plate, fish gyro and omelette were my favourite. I love how flavourful they are. The pita bread was great to go with, all the sauce and salad were well seasoned and complimented the food. And big portion!!
O C — Google review
Cute ma and pa shop located close to Chinatown. Was feeling a moussaka and this place was near the hotel. Boy was I surprised at how big and filling the portions were. The moussaka is basically an eggplant lasagna in my opinion. It camp with a big salad and a heap of fries. The owner also dropped us some free deserts. Not sure what it was called but it was basically fried donut holes drizzled with honey. Delish!!!
Vu N — Google review
Place is quaint and service is nice. The Greek food is okay. The pita was yummy. The dolmas are alright. The chicken lemon soup was disappointing. The moussaka plate was meh. The lamb gyro and fish gyro were good! Based on reviews, expectations were high. Sadly, it's overall 3.4 and just not for me :( Guess I won't be eating anymore Greek food in Austin if it's the best in town.
Thrive R — Google review
Delicious Greek Food with great service. Everything was fresh and was cooked just right. Don't miss out on the lemon chicken soup.
Joseph H — Google review
Great place for casual dining or team lunch. They served our group of 10 promptly. The lamb plate and Greek coffee were excellent. Also tried hummus, pita and fries for appetizer. Beignets can be skipped..
Piyush T — Google review
Charming mom-and-pop Greek spot on Lamar Blvd! The veggie plate was fresh and flavorful — loved the crispy falafels and the uniquely aromatic bread. Cozy atmosphere with photo frames showcasing Greece adds a nice authentic touch.

Middle Eastern restaurant
Peace Bakery and Deli, located in North Lamar, is a popular spot offering a variety of Palestinian and Middle Eastern dishes. While it's more of a restaurant than a grocery store, it's renowned for its freshly-baked goods and pastries. Visitors often indulge in their famous shawarma before stocking up on baklava and other sweet treats to take home. The bakery is known for its generous use of honey in the baklava, ensuring they stay fresh for an extended period.
This place is amazing!! The cucumber salad was so fresh, the falafel crispy but moist inside, and the hummus was smooth and delicious. We also got the pistachio baklava and couldn’t eat just one! A must try.
Ashlin G — Google review
So wonderful! Everything is delicious. The hummus is the best I’ve ever had- so creamy. The tabouli and olive salad is so fresh. And the pastries are the cherry on top- so flaky and the perfect amount of sweet. Not to mention, you get to support a Palestinian owned business. ♥️
Kennedy — Google review
Wow, just wow… how have we overlooked this gem all these years?!?! Simply the best Mediterranean food we’ve had in town! The hummus is some of the best we’ve ever tasted and the portions are shockingly large - a double meat platter easily feeds 2. The option to get half sides is fantastic and their half portion is like other restaurants’ full portion. The other 3 sides I tried were potatoes, baba ghanoush and tzatziki - all delicious! Chicken was great but beef had some chewy bits. To top it all off, they gave us each a generous piece of baklava, as they were closing. Such was the wonderfully friendly customer service. We will be repeat customers for sure if nothing else, to get vats of that hummus!
Sharon R — Google review
Peace Bakery is genuinely the best food and hospitality in Austin. Everyone is so kind and thoughtful, the food is incredible and always fresh, and the value for the amount they give you can't be matched. I always get at least two meals out of it. Also, the pistachio baklava is *chefs kiss*, the best I've ever had, melt in your mouth, fantastic. I highly recommend.
Amanda S — Google review
Food is amazing! Literally a dream for anyone who loves veggies too. Great options for almost anyone. We tried all the sides, and everything is delicious. The potatoes are especially flavorful. The chicken shawarma is so good both by itself and in the wrap. The desert options are plentiful, and the baklava is perfect. I’ve had a lot of baklava where it’s either dry or overly syrupy, but this was perfection. The service is fast, courteous, and very inviting. The atmosphere is very open and casual. They have very high ceilings that make the restaurant feel so spacious. Definitely recommend
Taylor T — Google review
The lamb shank was tasty. The brisket was cooked to leather. The sides were a different aesthetic. They were either loaded with lemon juice, the tabouleh, or vinegar, the cabbage salad. The hummus salad featured chickpeas that were cooked super soft paired with raw carrots. Never had this. I'm not new to this cuisine, but this way. Asked for hot tea. Was told they were out. Was served Turkish coffee in broken coffee cups, was told they didn't have any more. Little efforts in the way of customer service. A lot of dirty tables. They didn't even pick up after themselves when they were done eating. One employee parked in the fire lane in front of the restaurant and left his car there. Broken soap dispenser, broken paper towel rack. The pot for wudoo was dirty. Dirty commode. Ceiling tiles missing. The place needs a deep clean and repairs.
Eric — Google review
My wife and I got a falafel wrap, the chicken shawarma wrap, the coriander potatoes, and 2 pastries. The wraps were both delicious and they gave a pretty decent portion size. The coriander potatoes were out of this world delicious, definitely would get that again. The birds nest pastry was absolutely delicious, but the pistachio baklava pastry was possibly the best pastry that I have ever had, and your boy here has had quite a few in his lifetime. Overall it was a wonderful experience with good service and amazing food. We will definitely be coming again.
Alex H — Google review
This was the first place I stopped to eat during my trip to Texas from Jersey. It was okay. My expectations were high. I got the beef shawarma, chicken shawarma, dolma, tabouleh, potatoes, and spicy hummus. It was underwhelming. I was starving because my flight was delayed and the food still was bleh even though I was that hungry. Service was okay. Felt overpriced.

Troy ATX is a charming and colorful eatery that offers a relaxed atmosphere and serves Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant is adorned with cute trinkets, plants, and art on the walls, creating a cozy dining experience. The menu features a variety of Turkish dishes, including salads, wraps, gyro meat, stewed chicken tantuni, and meatballs.
Finally, Turkish (Mediterranean) foods done traditionally; nothing over seasoned & everything fresh. The cook allows the food to speak for itself. Sincerely, we could have eaten at a dozen different places around Austin, but Han makes you feel appreciated and welcomed - like family. Nothing is rushed - it's such an enjoyable place to eat for those who appreciate dining. We'll continue to make this our spot for years to come!
Ed S — Google review
Here’s a pro tip: go to this place on a Saturday evening around 7pm. You’ll probably be one of a few parties there. And since you practically have the place to yourself, the waiter there will give you 5-star SERVICE! He’ll even read your Turkish coffee grinds for you! The food was AMAZING! We’ve gone to a lot of Mediterranean places but this was the best we’ve had. Just go. You’ll thank me later.
Rocky R — Google review
Orhan and his father have a hidden gem right in the middle of Austin. It was my first time having Turkish food and I highly recommend its. The hospitality was off the charts. The food was absolutely amazing and the origin stories of the dishes were fascinating. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back.
Brad P — Google review
This place was great, it’s in a corner suite next to a gas station, and I didn’t expect this place to be a hidden gem. One of those don’t judge the outside places. Great service! Turkish coffee was great The Mezze and meatball plate was solid! The inside was very nicely decorated and had a good atmosphere. Conveniently located as well, if you searched for Mediterranean food and this place popped up scroll no further give it a shot!
Robert E — Google review
We had an incredible dining experience at Troy ATX! From start to finish, everything exceeded expectations. We ordered a spread of dishes including hummus, acuka, dolma, Iskender kebab, Turkish beef meatballs, doner, and baklava. Every single plate was outstanding - fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The Iskender kebab in particular was exceptional, perfectly tender with rich, savory sauce, and the brown butter topping was excellent. The hummus and acuka were some of the best we've had in Austin. The dolma had that perfect balance of rice, herbs, and tanginess, while the meat dishes were cooked to perfection. And of course, the baklava was the perfect sweet finish - flaky, nutty, and delicious. We loved the fact that it was all made fresh and in house. The service was wonderful as well. Our server was incredibly honest, thoughtful, and attentive, which made the whole experience feel even more enjoyable. It's rare to find service that feels both warm and genuine, and Troy ATX really delivers on that front. The atmosphere is relaxed, casual, and very homey - the kind of place where you feel comfortable lingering over your meal with good company. We'll absolutely be back again soon. If you're looking for authentic, delicious Turkish food in Austin, Troy ATX is a gem that you can't miss.
Adara T — Google review
One of my new favorites. Immediately fell in love. The food was amazing: Turkish hummus is divine, and make sure you get the Iskender Kebab! The owner's son was helping out with the family business that day and was kind and generous and refused to let us have a bad experience (it wasn't hard given how good the food is!)
Adam P — Google review
This is a sweet little gem tucked away in the corner of a neighborhood! It's small and somewhat unremarkable looking but the food is amazing! I start to salivate when thinking about the lamb chops I had! Three juicy and very flavorful chops (plus several sides) for only $27! Would be $50 or more anywhere else. Everyone in my group loved what they ordered. And almost even better, the service was great - very comfortable and homey - we felt like we were practically dining in someone's home in turkey. We joked around a lot with our server and he even gave us a free baklava just because he liked us I guess. This is a hard working family business so please go there and support them!
Lisa S — Google review
We ordered the Best of Mezze Plate, the Gyro Plate, the Troy Grill Mix, and the Pistachio Rolls. Everything was delicious! The Best of Mezze Plate for two could have fed four; we took home half the dips and Han gave us extra pita for the doggie bag. The pita was warm and fresh. All of the meat was tender and well seasoned. Our server, Han, was very friendly, attentive, and accommodating. My husband and I are not vegetarians or vegans, but I noticed that Han spent a lot of time with the people at a nearby table clarifying the vegan options. I overheard them thanking him enthusiastically. Han also gave us Turkish tea on the house with our dessert. Highly recommend this restaurant!

If you're wandering through Austin and craving authentic Greek cuisine, look no further than Big Fat Greek Gyros. This charming food truck, nestled on the lively Rainey Street, is the brainchild of Emmanuel Papadakis, who brought his passion for traditional Greek dishes to Texas in 2011. With a warm philosophy of treating every customer like a friend, he serves up generous portions of mouthwatering gyros and hearty salads that are perfect for lunch or late-night cravings after a night out.
If you order from a food truck on Rainey and it's not Big Fat Greek Gyros well .... I just feel bad for you. I am obsessed with Greek food and imagine my surprise when I bit into this gyro sitting at a picnic table and discovered the best I'd ever had!!! Believe the other reviews and order from here. The owner was also very friendly and proud of his food
Leah J — Google review
This place deserves five stars. The gyros are really amazing and filling. I have tried the hummus and pita bread too which were also outstanding.
Jhumur D — Google review
I would give it 10 stars if that was possible! I ordered the Lamb and beef Hercules and OMG it was the best tasting thing ever. It was stuffed full with fixins. So Very delicious! If you go, that is the thing to order, and those French fries were probably some of the best fries I’ve had. And the girl Caitlin that works on the truck, was so funny, sweet, and sassy, all at the same time I just loved her personality. This was the busiest truck on Rainy Street, and I can see why. So go and get the Lamb Gyro and say hello to Caitlin, promise you will love both!
Sheri W — Google review
Finally a legit gyros spot in Austin! Moving from Chicago I realized it was almost impossible to find a true gyros until I came across this food truck. Spoke with the owner, who was super nice and shared insights around Greece, along with a teammate who was also nice and friendly. I will definitely be back sooner than later…the taste was simply delicious!
Shahan N — Google review
Big Fat Greek Gyros serves amazing Gyros and presumably also delicious other Greek food. I had the beef gyros, my girlfriend had the chicken gyros and we were both vey satisfied. Pricing reasonable, staff friendly. Go for it! Had an absolutely amazing Gyros from this food truck. Could not believe how delicious it was and how fresh all the ingredients were. I think this is the best Gyro I have ever had! Keep up the good work!
Christine S — Google review
Overpriced food and NOTHING is actually made on site. Ordered the chicken gyro, with no feta. $9 later they give us a small gyro, frozen pita, full of wedge potatoes (???) and loaded with feta. The chicken was nowhere to be found. Only would recommend this place to someone I wanted to prank. Fans of authentic gyros will be truly disappointed.
José M — Google review
I can only presume that this place has such stellar ratings because its primary clientele is drunk. At various times, I've tried the Hercules gyro ($8.21) with both chicken and lamb. Chicken is just completely dried out. I was asked if I wanted feta, and I like pretty much everything so I was like lay it on me. That was a mistake, with the chicken already so dry, the feta cheese just further sucked all of the moisture out of my mouth. The lamb was much better, but I'd still just say okay at best. It's really not even close to the best Greek food I've had before.
Morgan L — Google review
Wonderful food, great service & so fast! I love this place, we will always come here to satisfy our Greek food cravings. You can’t get any better here in town. Big Fat Greek Gyros does NOT disappoint!

Abo Youssef Mediterranean Food is a humble food truck located in the parking lot of a gas station, serving up delicious grilled meats, wraps, and sides. Despite its unassuming appearance, this food truck is known for offering some of the best Mediterranean cuisine in Austin. The owners draw inspiration from ancient Greco-Roman culinary traditions in Egypt.
First time but not my last time! Amazing falafel, crispy and tasty with special sauce, eggplant and cauliflower. Rice plate is the way to go and pretty big portions I have lunch for tomorrow! Amazing service, kind and thoughtful. Will definitely return! All my friends loved their shawarma plates and baklava. Come support!!

Stumbled upon this spot while visiting Austin for the weekend. The owner was so kind and the food was a-ma-zing. The truck is in a great location too, fun street to hang out.

This place is 20/10. Will definitely be returning to try more on the menu. Had the mixed grill plate and the regular mix plate and everything else was delicious. You get tons of food for free the price. There’s seating available if you would like to stay. Tables are clean. Service was pleasant and my order came out pretty quickly. Highly recommend

One of the BEST food trucks in Austin serving Mediterranean food. It’s located in a busy area with bars/restaurants, inside a gas station parking lot. It was our first time there but we have heard great things. We were greeted by an older man, he was extremely nice and runs the truck by himself. I asked him if he was Egyptian since my bestie is and she is from Alexandria. The owner said he was from Alexandria too! ☺️ We ordered the shish kebab plate, mixed grill plate, HAWASHY, and he gave us complimentary baklava since it was our first time there. The meat plates were so good. The meat was generous and the pita bread was soft, warm, and so good with the hummus and meat on it. The salad was refreshing and cold. Works really well with the meat and rice and white sauce. The mix grill plate was a combo of lamb and chicken—get it if you want to try both meats. The HAWAWSHY was very very unique. It was a very big bread stuffed with beef and lamb. It was so soft, easy to pull apart, slight sweetness from the bread and spice from the meat. We got it as an appetizer but the size of it is a whole entree. I highly recommend you try the hawawshy next time. And lastly, of course the baklava was amazing. We air fried the 2nd one the next day and it was so good. The food is so delicious!! Prices are keeping up with inflation and still cheaper than those sit in restaurants. Give this food truck and the Egyptian man from Alexandria a chance! :) I believe it’s ranked #83 best places to eat in Austin. There are a few picnic tables you can eat it.

Tried this food truck for the first time today and was absolutely amazed at how flavorful and yummy it was!! I got the chicken shawarma plate and it was soooo good I couldn’t put my fork down til I pretty much devoured it. I came back for more an hour later to give my family dinner, they’re gonna love it! Management is super friendly and nice too! I will definitely be back thank you!

This is my second visit to the best place with the tastiest food I've had since I arrived in the Texan capital 50 days ago! Based on my experience, Aam Samir is the finest Egyptian chef crafting Greek cuisine in this city! #Yummy

Favorite food truck in Austin! The falafel gardenia plate is possibly the best vegetarian dish around. We eat here almost weekly, the owner is always welcoming and the food is always quality. Rice pudding and Baklava are a great treat, my kids love it.

came here off a recommendation so i had high expectations along with the reviews! however ive never had such bland mediterranean food ever. the spices were nice initially but theres no salt and the flavor disappears after about 5 seconds sadly. the service was fine but there’s definitely way better mediterranean food for cheaper!

Nestled between North Loop and Crestview, The Mediterranean Chef Cafe is a beloved gem for those who appreciate authentic Greek cuisine. This charming spot specializes in delightful Middle Eastern starters and dips, making it a go-to for both casual lunches and cozy dinners. Diners can indulge in classic dishes like gyros, dolmas, baklava, and savory meat or spinach pies—all crafted with fresh ingredients that highlight the essence of Mediterranean flavors.
First visit today! I will definitely be returning. My friends and I got several different items. The Greek salad I ordered with chicken was amazing and really big! The Nikki special also looked great and was a lot of food. The meat was thin sliced, slightly crispy on the edges and really warm and toasty! Tried a few a la carte items too all of which were really good ( beet salad, hummus, tabuleh, dolmas). It is a small cafe and can get busy. I will try to go earlier next time or call in to pick up. If eating in, you order and receive a number, then you pay after you eat.

I cannot RAVE enough about Niki, the owner, the food, & the culture. I stopped by as I came across this spot upon happenstance and it couldn’t have been more perfect. This spot recently opened its doors to the public again… and I truly wanted to cry from the compassion & hospitality expressed to me as a customer. I came after hours, however the owner, Niki, accommodated me and provided me a falafel wrap to-go on the house. I just found out about cancer/brain tumor and I stopped here because I needed food before proceeding to drive. She did not know this— but her open heart and willingness to accommodate and show compassion without knowing my story made my day, truly. Having moved from Houston and experiencing lots of middle eastern cuisine, this hole in the wall will NOT disappoint. It is truly authentic Mediterranean cuisine, that at times can be difficult to find in Houston/USA even. If you are Arab or love Mediterranean food as much as myself, come here. I had the falafel wrap to-go, and it tasted amazing. I can only imagine what it tastes fresh or dipped with babaganush or tabuleh. You MUST try this spot!!

Y'all. I'm Lebanese and very very very picky about the middle eastern food that is prepared and sold in Austin. Let me tell you, this place has, hands down, the most delicious, most authentic, best all around hummus in town. Like, a single tear rolled down my teta's cheek when I took my first bite. And dont get me started on the grape leaves (dolmas)!!! Definitely worth a stop by when you get a craving! Fun, local, neighborhood establishment to fulfill all your hummus cravings!!!

I’ve been eating their hummus for years without knowing that they had a cafe. My wife and I were super excited to try it since we LOVE the hummus. Everything about the experience was perfect. The food was delicious and noticeably fresh, the customer service is incredible to the point of feeling like home even though we were first time customers. I will happily share this to friends and can’t wait to go back!!!!!

I wish I had photos I could post, but I literally scarfed everything down so quick that I didn’t get a chance. It was my first time there and I got the Hummus and the Nikki’s Special and WOW!! It was so flavorful and fresh, you could really feel the love that goes into the food. The guy who checked us out even gave us some complimentary Baklava which was incredible! We love Greek food and we can’t believe we’ve never been here, but now we’ll never go anywhere else. The food was amazing, the staff is so insanely kind and make you feel like family, and the price was so reasonable, especially compared to most places here in ATX. Can’t say enough amazing things about this place! Thank you guys!
Hannah C — Google review
I haven't been here in ages and I was in the mood for some lamb so I stopped and ordered Nikki Special, an open-faced gyro salad served on a bed of pita and topped with the house tatziki sauce, chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, feta crumbles, Kalamata olives, sliced jalapénos and a sautéed onion/garlic mix with 4.5oz lamb gyro meat sautéed in siracha. I chose the in-house Greek salad dressing. The Maine Root Spricy Ginger Brew accompanied it very well. The devil on my left shoulder was doing a great job of encouraging me to dive into the Baklava but the little angel on my right shoulder kept telling me to refrain from such sinful desires especially since I had just left my doctor's office and gotten a good report. Indeed, I'm going to return and try to leave the little angel at home.

Tried Nikki's Open Face Gyro with beef and lamb with grilled jalapenos served on top of a bed of lettuce on a pita. It was very good. I'll definitely be back again. They are the makers of Grandma's Hummus, found at area HEB stores.

Austin's Habibi LLC on 5th Street is a popular food truck and Mediterranean restaurant in Austin, offering authentic Halal cuisine and catering services. Known for their generous portions and delicious dishes such as gyros, falafel, hummus, lamb kebab, and seasoned fries. The service is described as quick, professional, and friendly.
I had the Gyro Plate and Habibi Fries today, and they were amazing! The gyro plate was fresh, flavorful, and very satisfying, while the Habibi fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned just right. What really stood out was the excellent customer service—the staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the whole visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

I have been coming here for the last year since I live nearby and I always get combo hummus , which is $14 dollars (an entree item). Today I got the same thing, and now my blood is boiling - the portion is HALF of what it used to be. Why would I pay $14 WHOLE DOLLARS for this extremely mediocre halal food! I despise this place. Pathetic. They gave me literally a PALM SIZED PORTION of meat for $14 dollars, I am so mad. SAVE YOUR MONEY, DO NOT COME HERE.

This is a food truck set amongst other food trucks on a corner of 5th. Seating is outdoors is outside and dumpy. HOWEVER, The chicken plate with rice, hummus and greek salad was primo good. The chicken is small bits with curry taste served on awesomely seasoned rice. The greek salad is the norm and tasty. The hummus is something special. The whole thing mixed up and eaten together is bursting with flavor. I got a bogo deal on UBER EATS. So good and craveable. Usually Mediterranean food tastes blah to me but this- spicy without being “hot.”

The chicken over rice was so flavorful and came with that white and red sauce that makes every bite amazing. I also got baklava for dessert, and it was sweet and flaky. Staff were super welcoming from the moment I walked up.

I had an amazing experience! The chicken shawarma plate was bursting with flavor – the chicken was perfectly seasoned and juicy, and the accompanying toppings were fresh and delicious. And the baklava was the perfect sweet treat to end the meal – flaky, nutty, and drizzled with just the right amount of syrup. But what really stood out was the exceptional customer service. I highly recommend Austin habibi to anyone looking for delicious food and outstanding service. I can't wait to go back!"

The Chicken plate with rice was amazing. Sauce had just the right kick to need a drink. Cheese fries had the right amount of cheese without being wet and soggy Service could be a Little friendlier but for a gas station parking lot this place is fire

Nestled within the Cannon Oaks Center strip mall, Cafe Malta is a delightful bistro that serves up an eclectic array of Mediterranean dishes crafted from locally sourced ingredients. The atmosphere exudes a cozy, European charm with its tasteful decor and inviting ambiance, making it feel like a hidden gem. Diners rave about the standout paella, which boasts perfectly cooked rice infused with briny seafood and savory saffron flavors.
Cafe Malta is, without a doubt, one of Austin’s true hidden gems. My fiancé and I have been loyal fans for over a decade, and every visit still feels like a special treat. The food is consistently outstanding; the Brisket Ravioli and the Bistro are nothing short of heavenly! Each bite is packed with rich, comforting flavors that somehow manage to feel both rustic and elevated at the same time. Their wine selection never disappoints either, always thoughtfully curated and perfect for pairing. The owners are some of the sweetest, most welcoming people you’ll ever meet. You can truly feel the love and pride they pour into Cafe Malta. Honestly, if we could eat here every day of the week, we would! Highly, highly recommend!

Great spot. The menu is focused and adjustments (keep them reasonable, they are highly accommodating, let’s not abuse this) are well taken. They actually tried to do something great here. Ideally, the building/plaza owners would let them change the front door and facade. Sometimes you have to compromise.

My partner and I were recommended this restaurant for our stay in Austin, and we were blown away by how wonderful it was! The mocktails were amazing, and we were happy with the choices they offered as we both don’t drink. The mussels were the best I have ever had and a great way to start the meal. I got the Pappardelle and my partner got the L’amfette, and we talked about how good our meals was for hours afterwards. Incredibly reasonably priced for such amazing cuisine!

We had a great dinner experience at Cafe Malta celebrating a friend's 64th birthday. There were just three of us, so the relaxed, intimate atmosphere of Cafe Malta was ideal for the occasion. We started with panisse, and the mussels, served ciopinno-style accompanied by crusty white bread. The semi-spicy, rich seafood broth was definitely worth sopping up with the bread... 😀 I had the dinner-size seared salmon salad, which was a delicious combination of flavors and textures, delightfully topped off by toasted pecans. One of my companions had a large, grass-fed porkchop with lots of veggies on the side, a hearty repast that was given two thumbs up. Our third companion raved about his large portion of heavenly, near-gelatinous short-rib in a super-unami Cabernet demi-glace. He even took about four bites home as it "was too good to waste". Our waiter brought us a chocolate chile creme brulee to share for dessert (on the house!). It was even better than it sounds, and we scraped up every bite from the ramekin, lol Cafe Malta is highly recommended, five stars!

Favorite restaurant in Austin, hands down. The atmosphere is delightful and the staff is so friendly. Everything we ate was somehow better than the next. The gnocchi was silky and pillowy, the peach salad was fresh and delicious and the lamb fettuccine special was out of the this world. The pasta was so fresh. And can’t forget the flourless chocolate cake. Speechless. Everything came out fast and piping hot.
Jordan M — Google review
Well, if you want dive bar service at the bar and mediocre food then this is the place for you! The server, possibly the owner or manager encompasses an opposite of hospitality attitude. I began to wonder why I was there. As far as the food, my first dish was too salty and the second, not seasoned enough. There was NO love in the food. The reason for two stars was for the wine list and nice atmosphere. If you must go, then I recommend sitting at a table far from the bar. Rough and uncomfortable.

One of my favorite places in Austin. It had been at least 4 years before Covid I had last visited this place I didn’t know it had survived. I moved away from Austin after my last relationship with my kids father (who introduced me to this place) and I was in town today. I actually went to a different place and as I sat there with the menu, cafe Malta came to mind but I could not remember the name. And so I googled (of course) as soon as I saw the name and it said “open” I made my way there. As I sat there I became overwhelmed with anxiety I sat in front of the very table my kids father, our son, and I would sit at the memories flooded me and the anxiety grew. After my favorite salad there and a drink I quickly realized I had missed out on how amazing this place actually was all along I remember everything tasting so good but today it tasted AMAZING! I thanked god for the place I am today and how incredibly happy I was, enjoying a diner without my favorite person in the WORLD. My husband was home texting me all kind of dirty playful things before he left me alone to heal one more part of myself. I had avoided a place that held a big part of my story, that I actually enjoyed but bc of the trauma that came with it I put it so far away in the back of my mind I couldn’t remember its name. Thank you to everyone I came across that was so very kind just as I remember! (and I don’t remember a lot of things). I can’t wait to be back, this place is amazing!

We had a reservation today, but unfortunately, we had to leave because the noise level was too high. The conversations around us were very loud, and since I had a headache, we decided it was best to go. We’ve eaten there before and the food quality is always 10/10, but this time the ambiance just didn’t help.

Caspian Grill is a Persian and Mediterranean restaurant located in a casual cafe space. It offers a variety of traditional Persian dishes such as kebabs, stews, and colorful appetizers. The restaurant has a no-frills atmosphere with counter ordering and pre-packaged apps available for takeout. It's well-suited for quick meals as well as large-format catering and takeout orders.
Me & my 2 year old shared the Mix Koobideh & Rice, and both the ground beef kabob, & chicken kabob were delicious! I also ordered the lentil rice which was incredible. I’m Colombian, so I was not expecting it to have raisins but it was delicious. The grilled vegetables were also perfectly charred and fresh. I’m so happy to find a healthy option to eat out with my son! The restaurant itself is also beautifully decorated and the staff was very kind and attentive. They have high chairs and the tables are the perfect height for them so he was able to sit comfortably.

I ordered the kabab koobideh, and honestly, it was one of the best I’ve had in the US. The flavors were amazing, and the texture was spot on. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The only issue was that the food lacked a bit of salt. If they could fix that, it would easily be a 5/5. Highly recommend!

Came here for a friend’s birthday and I can say my stomach and mind left full and happy! The service from staff was very sweet and so nice to us. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap which was mouth wateringly delicious. It was hard to stop eating to save room for dessert. The dessert was absolutely delicious as well! We ordered one of each, from the sholezard, to the saffron ice cream, and the Texas sized baklava (all pictured). They even gave us a free tea to cleanse our pallet in between. I’ll for sure be back to try more items and a regular customer now!

Ordered catering from Almarah over the weekend and the food was incredible! We had about 16 guests and everyone had nothing nice things to say! The meat we ordered was so tender. The hummus was a hit. Our only regret was not ordering more. We loved it. Also, they delivered right on time, despite the heavy rainfall we experienced. I’m so happy I got to share some authentic middle eastern cuisines with my friends! 10/10

Almarah Mediterranean Cuisine is a true gem in Austin! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed like family. Our servers, Karim and Mohamed, went above and beyond with their warm hospitality, knowledge of the menu, and genuine care for our experience—they made the evening feel special. The food was absolutely outstanding. The clay pot dish was deeply flavorful, full of rich spices and slow-cooked perfection. The mezza grill offered a wonderful variety—every bite was fresh, vibrant, and perfectly seasoned. And the desserts? The baklava was the perfect finale: flaky, nutty, and just the right balance of sweet. It’s rare to find a place where every dish feels made with love and every detail—from the fresh, steaming pita to the attentive service—comes together so seamlessly. Almarah captures the spirit of Mediterranean dining and brings it to Austin beautifully. We can’t wait to return!

Almarah offers the perfect mix of authentic flavors and generous portions. Our favorites are the pizzas and lamb chops. Almarah is one of only two places in the Austin area that serves a variety of pizza sizes and flavors, and lets you mix and match as you order. Out of the two, this one is by far the better choice! The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and happy to offer recommendations. The atmosphere is casual and family-friendly, making it a great spot whether you're stopping in for lunch or enjoying a relaxed dinner.

I’m super excited to share my experience for lunch here. They exceeded my expectations. I’ve been in the Middle East and I haven’t really found the proper baba ghanoush—-too sour from others. Here I could taste the eggplant—-fresh and more savory like I wanted it! The liver appetizer was bomb! Quality was good and cooked just right, tender and flavorful, perfect with the bread! I had the lamb chops, excellent portion and I thought I was going to save for work the next day but I finished the whole thing in two meals! The clay pot set the tone as finale for us! Mohammed was very professional, accommodating and knows the food he serves! We got free baklava for kicks and it was yummy. This place brought me back to one of the best Mediterranean/Middle East places I’ve been since 2009! They give military discount! Must try and to die for!

The Peacock Mediterranean Grill, located in the stylish Austin Proper Hotel, offers a relaxed dining experience with a menu inspired by Eastern Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a standout brunch menu available on weekends until 4 p.m. Dishes include toasted almond muhammara, wood-fired kebabs, grilled prawns, French toast banana brulee, Greek omelette, and lamb meatballs.
An absolutely amazing dinning experience! Only regret is that we did not try more appetizers than we did lol. Ordered about 3-4 different apps, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts. Excellent, attentive service and amazing atmosphere down town!!! The pudding dessert in the video had to be the best thing i ever put in my mouth!! The dumplings were also to die for!! I will never forget this experience!

Expensive and incredibly slow way to feel like a second class citizen. I ate at the Peacock on a relatively quiet Wednesday without a reservation and was quickly shown to a table. Initial service was prompt, orders were placed quickly, drinks showed up generally fast. Unfortunately after sitting at the table for over an hour my main still hadn’t showed up. When I asked the server to check on this, he apologized that the kitchen was backed up and asked if I wanted to talk to the manager….only problem was I could see the manager doting on the high value table next to me(who’s food came out almost immediately). I respect that kitchens can be slow but I have seen this handled way better at other restaurants at this price point(unprompted would you like a complimentary glass of wine while you wait as an example). And at $110 for a simple appetizer and main, I expect something better. Food eventually did show up after 70 min, and is quite good. I didn’t bother with a dessert so I can’t report there. Fundamentally though, poor service with no attempt at remediation while bending over backwards for the a table next to you left me feeling decidedly second class and an experience I would never seek to repeat.

My foodie partner (my hubs) and I had a meeting downtown so decided to try a place on our list. We were in the mood for Mediterranean, and wanted to try something different! In the Proper Hotel is a lovely restaurant called The Peacock. Let me start by saying - this isn't a cheap meal, even for lunch! We chose to sit outside since it was a lovely day - and they gave us a table by the creek - with a lovely view! It was also shady where we sat, with a nice breeze - great ambiance! We decided to stick with appetizers. We ordered the grilled octopus, which was good, but we have had better elsewhere. We also got the fried shallot hummus with homemade pita bread - we felt there was a bit too much going on with the hummus flavor wise and texture wise. The Pita was good, not great. We ordered the latkes - very cute presentation, and they were tasty - just would have liked a bit more crunch to them! Finally, we got the fried Saganaki cheese - made with Graviera cheese. Because of my alcohol allergy - we didn't get it flaming! However, it was SO good! It came with some za'atar bread - which was good, but very oily - I switched to cutting with fork and knife vs fingers!😅. I almost forgot to mention - our waiter was awesome! Checked on my food restrictions, and was so attentive! Overall, it was a nice meal with lovely ambiance but have had better and cheaper mediterranean food elsewhere.

The Peacock in Austin is a fantastic dining experience! From the moment I walked in, the stylish decor and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a great evening. The Mediterranean-inspired menu is full of fresh, flavorful dishes—I especially loved the hummus, lamb kebabs, and roasted cauliflower. The cocktails were well-crafted and paired perfectly with the meal. Service was exceptional; the staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance was lively yet comfortable, making it a great spot for any occasion. Whether for brunch or dinner, The Peacock is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back—five stars!
Praneet R — Google review
The ambiance was 10/10 but the service was slow, not very attentive. Didn’t explain the menu well. The braised short rib hummus was the only thing we got that I liked. The crudo didn’t have much flavor. For mains we got the lamb chops (he said they were ok) I got the chicken skewers and the flavor was very Indian influenced. Not a fan at all. The saffron rice didn’t have much flavor. Overall, nice ambiance, poor flavor profiles. I wouldn’t go back for dinner.

This is my first time visiting Austin. I took myself out to eat. It’s probably the fanciest place I’ve ever eaten. But the atmosphere was relaxing and quiet. The food and service were so delicious. Everything here is authentic and prepared with Care from the mix of ingredients to the presentation to the silverware and the dishes that are served.

Opa is a charming spot that offers a mix of Greek cuisine, wine, and coffee. During the day, it functions as a cozy coffee shop with vintage decor and free wifi. In the evening, it transforms into a lively wine bar with regular live music performances. The restaurant features indoor and outdoor seating options including swinging seats on the patio and cushioned couches by the fire pit.
really great food! portions are also big (except the avocado toast) but the gyros especially are great meals. the coffee is delicious and high quality but a little slow. the food is quick to come. the staff is very nice too. lots of great vegetarian options, and the seating outside is so nice. i liked the pasta salad and warm pita a lot.

This is a great place to meet up and hang out with friends. There’s plenty of space, comfortable tables, and quick service. The menu is extensive, and the staff is very friendly. I especially love the interior design, and there are options to sit both indoors and outdoors, which is a nice touch. The place is quite popular, and we had a wonderful time during our visit. However, I do have one comment. My drink was served in a cup with a chip. I always mention this to businesses when it happens. Please make sure to check your dishware carefully. Chips on cups can harbor bacteria and pose a risk of cuts while drinking. I kindly ask the owner to address this issue and inspect all dishware for any damage. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot, but this small detail needs attention.

First time visiting Opa. What a delicious meal. The roasted chicken was amazing, jazz music made for a great atmosphere. So pleased with our experience, this was delicious food!

Great food and service not much seating inside. Wish it wasnt raining so I could have sat outside. Amazing food. And apatizers. Really enjoyed everything. Will go back🥰 order at the bar area then seat yourself type of place.

Great place to grab and coffee/wine and relax. The inside is so cozy with plenty of seating and the outside is a great space to enjoy the weather. They have delicious, fresh food that can satisfy your hunger and the staff is so so welcoming! Favorites were the hummus and the gyro wrap. The pita bread was so fluffy and perfect with the hummus and the gyro meat was perfectly seasoned. White chocolate mocha coffee was delicious too. I wish the spanokopita had more feta cheese but it was still delicious!

What a great place. Located right across the street from Proud Mary, the energy is much more relaxed. A solid place to work or meet people. Get the omelette and add meat balls. Super good. Americano was solid. Bathrooms clean. Tons of parking. Lots of quiet indoor seating. Shady under the trees out door seating. Happy staff.

OPA on South Lamar is a great spot for delicious Greecian cuisine, and has a very serene atmosphere adorned with beautiful landscaping and greenery. The enormous Live Oak Tree is one of my favorite things in Austin. Nicole and Celena are very kind and personable. OPA hosts many events throughout the week including Wednesday's Open Mic Night which caters to local and traveling artists as a welcoming creative space for sharing all forms of art. OPA is a true gem of Austin, just south of the river. 10/10, highly recommend. 💙🇬🇷🎶 -Mnemosyne

Went for Bingo night, had fun with the kids, we won several different drinks to dry, some kid friendly, some adult only. The bingo host was very interactive and kept things upbeat and entertaining. Bartender was very sweet and did a great job holding down the fort alone. The whole family can’t wait to go back.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful culinary experience, look no further than Kebabalicious! This vibrant eatery, born from a beloved food truck, offers an array of Turkish kebabs that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. You can customize your meal by selecting from various kebab styles—whether you prefer a wrap, rice bowl, or Turk salad—and choose from proteins like beef and lamb, chicken thigh, falafel, or crispy tofu.
This restaurant is a rare find, excelling in food, service, and ambiance. Halal Options: Only the charcoal chicken and steak are halal; beef and lamb are not.(at the time of visit) We arrived around 8 PM when it wasn't too busy. We ordered the chicken bowl, quesadillas, chicken strips, and K-fries. The food was served almost immediately and was fantastic. The bowl and fries were bursting with flavor, the chicken was crispy, and while the quesadillas were good, they could use a bit more seasoning. The ambiance is delightful, featuring a charming, well-lit seating area with plenty of space. The staff is friendly and cheerful, making for a pleasant dining experience.Overall, this restaurant is definitely on my list of favorites!

I've been here twice now and have been happy both times. I ordered the char-grilled chicken wrap (larger size) and it was enough to split between two people. The first time I visited, I got the less expensive chicken option and didn't feel like it was worth a re-order. I've ordered the falafel shot both times and have been really happy with the quality of the falafel and the flavor of the sauces.

My wife and I were craving Mediterranean food. We were heading back to our home state VA from the keys, but we couldn’t find any nearby but found Kabobalicious! it was about an hour away from our route and we are glad we made the trip because this place is amazing! The food was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious, but what really stood out was the service. Haydee and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. She was so hospitable, kind, and welcoming the entire time. At the end of our meal, she even gave us free waters, which was such a thoughtful touch for our trip back home. The restaurant itself was spotless and had a very comfortable, inviting atmosphere. You can tell they take pride not only in the food but also in the overall experience. Great service, great vibes, and excellent food we’ll definitely be coming back when in the area and highly recommend everyone to check it out! Thank you, Haydee, for making our visit so enjoyable! Oh I almost forgot, their chocolate cake was amazing too!

Restaurant
Aba Austin is a trendy restaurant located in the Music Lane development at the northern end of South Congress Ave. The Mediterranean-inspired menu offers seafood and classics like kebabs, hummus, and falafel, along with a variety of cocktails. The restaurant's beautiful outdoor patio is adorned with swinging lanterns and lush greenery, creating a perfect setting for enjoying hot-weather foods and refreshing drinks.
Aba had been on our list of restaurants we wanted to visit and were finally able to get in this time around. The wait was worth it. The food is amazing!! Great choice of cocktails and I'm pretty sure we ordered one of everything on the menu. The haloumi and fish were favorites from the main menu and the cake and frozen yogurt from the dessert. Pro tip, reservations on Sundays sure easier to get. Lots of street parking available. Courtyard is beautiful.. I suggest sitting out there.
Hedieh Y — Google review
This was my first time at Aba, and we came in with high expectations since we love Mediterranean food. I’ve had the chance to try several Mediterranean restaurants in Austin, and honestly, the one that stands out the most for me is The Peacock. At Aba, the only dish I truly enjoyed was the crispy short rib hummus—it was delicious. However, the rest of the food felt more like Mediterranean food truck quality. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything special, especially considering the prices. The main dish we ordered had overcooked, tough meat, which was disappointing. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with lovely décor and a lively atmosphere, but for me, the food doesn’t live up to the hype or the 4.7 star rating. Service was about a 6/10, cocktails a 6/10, and overall, I’d rate the food around a 4 or 5 out of 10. We didn’t even order dessert because we felt underwhelmed after the main courses. If you’re looking for a more elevated Mediterranean dining experience in Austin, I’d recommend The Peacock instead.

We had an amazing experience at Aba! From the moment we walked in, everything exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere was beautiful, relaxing, and full of great energy. Our server Aiden truly made the evening special — attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and his recommendations were spot-on. The food was absolutely delicious — we had Lamb & Beef Kefta, Charred Eggplant, and Beef Tenderloin Kebab with a mix of rice and salad. Every dish was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. We also enjoyed San Pellegrino Sparkling Water alongside our meal, which complemented everything nicely. Highly recommend Aba for anyone looking for an outstanding dining experience with incredible service. Thank you, Aiden, for making our night memorable — we’ll definitely be coming back!

I had such a wonderful dining experience at Aba Restaurant in Austin! Everything from the service to the food was excellent. Noel was my server and was so friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu—she made the experience even better. I ordered the short rib hummus, fried potatoes, and salmon kabobs, and every dish was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully prepared. You can really taste the quality in every bite. Thank you to Noel and the entire Aba Austin team for such a memorable dinner. This restaurant is a must-visit if you’re looking for delicious Mediterranean-inspired food, great ambiance, and top-notch service!
Tiara — Google review
The service is subpar for the expectations of this space. The Happy Hour wines are nice, but don’t expect to try anything on that menu unless you have a seat at one of the 10 bar tops & there’s no event going on outside, taking up a third of those spaces- a bartender rudely explained that. The food is good, but not worth the premium- if you’d like an authentic experience, try one of the locally owned spots. Beautiful tree on the outside patio. Overall, a restaurant best used for business meetings on Congress, not for people seeking a genuine hospitality experience.
Mia K — Google review
Good foood - great ambience. My favorite was the falafel. They even gave my friend A free frozen yogurt, dessert for her birthday. Parking garage is was overpriced and Aba gives only a $3 validation towards a $25 parking.

I really enjoyed my visit to Aba Austin. The ambiance is warm and stylish, making it a great spot for different occasions. The food was fresh and delicious, though the kabobs were a little too lemony for my taste. Service was attentive, and overall it was a memorable dining experience that I’d recommend and certainly marked for a future visit!

Nestled in the heart of Austin, Phoenician Resto Cafe is a delightful Mediterranean eatery that specializes in Lebanese cuisine, all set against a charming boat-themed backdrop. As you step inside, the inviting aroma of spices wafts through the air, instantly whisking you away to Lebanon's vibrant streets. The menu offers an array of mouthwatering dishes; their falafels are particularly noteworthy and have garnered much praise from visitors.
Food was delicious and fresh! Our waitress Evita was nice and polite. She suggested us what to choose from salads. I highly recommend everyone who loves grilled meat, fish and fresh vegetables salads.

I really like the food here. Everything is better than average. I get the chicken shawarma every time, which I’m told is secret recipe. It’s certainly very tasty and different from standard middle eastern/Mediterranean fare. Also thier bread is fricken good. I’m gonna laugh if it’s like frozen grocery store bread, but it seems fresher and tastier than most places.

I am vegetarian. Ordered a vegetarian platter. Loved the hummus and falafel. Definitely better than the ones I had. The grape leaf was amazing as well. Ambience : The ambience was good but the environment was busy and slightly noisy. Service : Service was great , the food arrived on time and was great, so overall a great experience. Definitely recommend for anyone that wants to explore middle eastern cuisine

Very delicious food. The cauliflower was made to perfection, just soft enough. I enjoyed the hummus, bread, and chicken the best. I enjoyed trying things I hadn’t eaten before and expanding my palate. The ambiance of the restaurant was great too. It’s well decorated and has meaning in the design.

Authentic Lebanese food full of flavor served in generous portions. Their complimentary oven bread + zaatar and olive oil was amazing. The clients coming in seemed like regulars.

Halal Bros is a restaurant with a lot of positive reviews for its affordable Middle Eastern dishes. The halal eatery offers some casual comfort foods like kebabs, wraps, salads and rice platters. They also have traditional baklava, hummus and falafel available.
WHY IS THIS PLACE ONLY IN AUSTIN?! It’s that good. The Combination Plate with extra sauce and pita is an absolute must-try—you’ll thank me later. The portions are incredibly generous, easily making three meals out of one order. It’s flavorful, filling, and always a stop on my list whenever I’m in town.

A friend had highly recommended this place so decided to try it. Ordered the Beef shawarma wrap which had a very strong meat smell and taste. Left half of it. The combo chicken gyro over rice plate tasted pretty good. Also got Falafel side order which was delicious. Crispy from the outside and soft from the inside. The parking is almost non-existent. Space for 3 cars to park and there was only 1 person dining in. We wanted to dine in but couldn’t find parking so very disappointed. The inside seating area was also not too clean. Nothing special about the service staff.

Halal place near campus that has the usual menu: gyro, chicken, falafel, etc. You order from a tablet at the front counter and then pick it up from there once it’s ready. Definitely seems like most people did takeaway, but they have seating in the restaurant if, like me, you want to eat in. Ordered the chicken shawarma on rice, tabbouleh, and lemonade. Shawarma plate was delicious with the sauces and had lots of meat and vegetables. Tabbouleh was good but it tasted a lot more lemony than I was used to (maybe regional difference thing). Good prices for the amount of food you get. Recommend if you are near UT campus and need a quick lunch.

This place was really good. It’s affordable and it has a lot of options. I got gyros over rice and it was great. I thought it’d be a wrap with the rice, but it’s just the meat part over the rice. The white sauce was great and you can get as much as you want. My friend got the combo over rice and she liked it. The portion size is also great.
Angela — Google review
My shawarma wraps were loaded with meat and veggies. They were well worth the price. The beef was way better than the chicken. The chicken was bland, but still good. Overall this is a great restaurant.

Came here for the first time and the food tasted absolutely amazing. It was fresh and seasoned and a large portion size. The server Mohammed was very knowledgeable and kind enough to explain the menu options and recommend what he liked. I got the chicken over fries and loved it. This place has amazing food and the generous service was an added plus.

I especially want to recognize Mohammed, our server. He was welcoming, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. His kindness and professionalism really stood out and made the meal even more enjoyable. Overall, Halal Bros is a place I’ll happily recommend, and I’ll definitely be coming back. Thank you to Mohammed and the whole team for the excellent service!
Haya A — Google review
I’ve been coming to this location for the past four years, but lately, the experience has been disappointing. For one, the staff no longer use gloves when preparing food, which raises serious concerns about hygiene. On top of that, there’s a major language barrier—none of the workers seem to speak any English, making communication frustrating. The overall atmosphere has also gone downhill. At the entrance, the main door is completely shut, replaced with a poorly marked sign and a drawn arrow pointing to another entrance just a few feet away. It feels inconvenient and unprofessional. Whoever advised this new layout and business model clearly didn’t think it through. This place used to feel alive, fiery, vibrant, and full of energy, with the smell of smoke adding to the experience. Now, it feels cold, lifeless, and stripped of the charm that once made it worth visiting.

At Balkan Cafe & Grill, you can indulge in a delightful array of traditional Serbian dishes, including mouthwatering kebabs and succulent roast lamb. The ambiance is casual yet inviting, with a design reminiscent of a European bar and pub. Enjoy outdoor seating that welcomes your furry friends while savoring unique offerings like feta cheese fries or the Caprese panini as starters. For mains, choose from juicy burgers or sandwiches, and don’t miss out on their delectable cakes for dessert.
I was confused at first when I came in as I was expecting an Italian place from all the signs, but the menu and decor said Balkan. Nevertheless we gave it a try. Hands down the best pizza I’ve had in years! The fact that this place isn’t packed at lunchtime means not enough people have tried them. Warm friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, great lunch specials, and a kitchen who knows how to really show their love of cooking. I gave it five stars because they wouldn’t let me give them ten. You need to go check out their new menu! We will now be going back every week.

This place looks very unassuming from the outside but has great food and a super friendly staff. We tried the burek - a flaky pastry with feta and spinach -, a vegetarian pizza and fettuccine alfredo with chicken. All were excellent. The pizza had pesto - which was a flavorful touch. We also had a Turkish coffee and we loved the presentation and the taste. We are really glad we went it and tried it.

I really wanted to love it but I didn’t. First, beef/lamb links (cevapi) were delicious. Probably top three I had in US. But the bread (lepinja), vegetable spread (ajvar) and soft cheese, which was supposed to imitate (kajmak) were mediocre at best. Coupled with the fact that was the most expensive cevapi meal I had on this side of the Atlantic, I must say I’m not impressed. Probably the most expensive in the world. Espresso was terrible. Having a professional espresso machine and coming up with that thing was disappointing. Staff was very nice and attentive.

The large is huge! We got the Supreme. Balanced fresh tasting ingredients, low grease, nice crust. Friendly welcome. They threw in a slice of cake randomly which was a delicious surprise. It was a chocolate cake and could have been more moist. But I ain't complaining too much for a free slice. Maybe they were about to be thrown out? I'm not sure. I didn't ask questions I just graciously accepted and got out before they changed their minds! Overall, great experience. My partner and I loved it. We'll definitely come back.

We had a great time here. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful as she guided us through the menu. We ordered a small pizza, half spinach and mushroom, and half chicken pesto. Both were great, but the ricotta on the spinach and mushroom pulled everything together so well--definitely a new favorite. We also ordered side salads that came with little bread rolls. The bread is chewy and delicious. Solid spot.

What a surprise!! Fantastic Mediterranean Cafe. From the warm welcome to the warm pita and oil dip it was a great start. The Kafta and hummus dish was perfect. If anyone can make this dish and the way it was presented then everything at the restaurant would be amazing as well. The pictures speak for themselves. Timmy who served us was kind and attentive. Great job!!

Recently we visited and ordered chicken shawarma over rice and salad, along with falafel served the same way. The falafels were outstanding—crispy and full of flavor—and the chicken was cooked to perfection. Since this place has a Greek influence, the shawarma pieces were a bit chunkier than usual, which might or might not offer the best shawarma experience for some. That said, the food overall was very enjoyable. The freshly baked bread stood out—they were so good that our little one grabbed two right away and kept asking for more! All in all, it was a great meal with excellent service.

Pretty good Mediterranean food near 6th, you have other choices like halal bros but this one definitely stands out for its taste and atmosphere. Plenty of seating based on where it’s located (pretty busy intersection) Parking available but limited spots, some extra spots available behind the restaurant. Right next to Sip Pho so be on the lookout as you might easily miss it. Platters are decently big for 1 person to finish and should be shared. Hummus is great and definitely worth a try. Shawarma dishes are great too! Liked how their menu lights up while reading, a nice touch during dinner when people might find it hard to read thru. Have seen bigger parties (7-8 people) too so a good meet up spot for friends/families. Prices are reasonable! Staff is polite and service is fast, didn’t have much of a wait! They have complimentary pita bread which is so soft and tasty!

The first time I went I got a gyro platter (I think)and it was amazing!!! I got hummus and babaganoush on the sides✨✨. I also got the turkish coffee and it was nice and strong, not burnt just strong! The second time i ordered the chicken and gyro over rice and salad to go and it was tasty. They season the rice with cloves, so beware when you’re eating unless you’re cool with having your tongue go numb 😂😂. The prices are fair and service is good. Parking is a bit small so if it’s busy go behind to 30th street and find some there.

My son and I stopped into Kabobzi mid-afternoon. It wasn't busy, as expected for mid-day. The waiter was very friendly. The food was amazing. I ordered a gyro, and it was massive. I also had the Baba Ghanouj. The puffy pita bread they gave us was fun and tasty. My 15-year-old son loved it as well. Would recommend.

Kabobzi was the perfect choice for a pre-event dinner, and it didn’t disappoint. From the moment we arrived, the service set the tone—attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. We began with the hummus and fresh pita bread, creamy and perfectly seasoned, followed by the trio flatbread, each bite more delightful than the last. For our main courses, we had the chicken shawarma platter and the shish tawook platter, both bursting with authentic flavor and expertly prepared. Kabobzi truly captures the essence of traditional Middle Eastern cuisine. Already planning our next visit to explore more of their menu!

If you are looking for Mediterranean authentic food, this is the place. Don't be fooled by some fancy high-end restaurant that is charging you for sitting in their ambiance that you have to pay for through the food. This is the real deal like your mom would make if she was Mediterranean. I know, my mother is. It's family-run, not my family, and they use high-quality ingredients. The food portions are great, and they have lots of options including vegetarian. I wish I could eat here once a week. It's delicious and better than anyone in Austin, even my mother's kitchen, Don't tell her I said that. Ha.

The food is great and freshly prepared every single time. This is my go-to restaurant every single day. I am a little disappointed today which is also the reason for writing this review is I ordered beef and an egg plant over p2 Taziki sauce but there was only beef and no eggplant. I placed the order through call and repeated myself twice. It made my dish very dry since there was no egg plant. The cashier never said anything when I picked up the order. Guess I will have to make sure my order is right before I leave the restaurant every single time.

The food was good, cashier was nice and helpful, BUT the guy at the back was rude and not knowing anything about customer service! Shawarma Arabi comes with taboula as shown in the picture, and it came with salad! I asked the cashier if they can give me taboula instead of salad. The cashier was super nice and willing to do so! BUT THE GUY IN THE BACK DID NOT DO IT! DID NOT EVEN COMMUNICATE WITH ME! He told the cashier that it comes with salad and he won’t change it!

Food was delicious and healthy with plenty of salad. The meat was a bit greasy but very tasty. There is seating for about 75 people and there is outdoor seating as well. Food was reasonable priced.

Halal Corner in Austin is a great spot for a tasty and satisfying meal. The food was fresh and flavorful. The beef in the plate were juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. The atmosphere felt welcoming, with a clean and comfortable setup. Service was friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and looking for good halal optons.

Love this place, I wish they had some Shrak bread and a Beef shawarma arabi plate. The hummus is so damn good 10/10

This place defines the phrase "some of the best food you find is in hole in the wall places". This one of mine and my coworkers favorite places to eat. Our food is always consistently good and the service is quick.I usually get the P21 crazy plate and vary the toppings I choose. The beef, chicken and fried cauliflower are always great on this rice and salad plate. The sauces are scrumptious. Today I also tried the creamy jalapeño salad with chicken added. It was delicious! Don't let the looks of the place scare you away. If you do you'll miss out. (Oh and hilariously, they have clip on bidet attached to their toilets!)

Fries looked like plastic. Very odd texture and taste. Burger was dry. Chicken wings were so hard and crispy that I felt like swallowing a fork.

Takeout Restaurant
Tinos Greek Cafe, a local chain, offers a variety of traditional Greek dishes in a casual setting. The cafe serves classic Greek food such as falafel and gyro at its simple counter-serve. The staff is friendly and approachable, providing stellar service to their clients. While the gyro meat is amazing, some found the chicken to be slightly dry. However, one shouldn't miss out on trying their delicious baklava.
I have only eaten here a handful of times in the last 5 years because I don't live nearby, but I like it. The food has always been fresh and delicious. Good size portions. I wish I had taken a pic of my plate to post, but will hopefully make it back soon to do so.
Mark S — Google review
Ordered through Favor delivery. No redeeming qualities. First of all they were pathetically stingy with the rice, I got like two spoonfuls of rice and that’s not me being dramatic (see pic, no rice under the meat btw), and on top of that the rice was old and stale. The chicken was just white meat chicken with salt and pepper, overcooked, dry, bland, really badly cut too (weird shapes and giant pieces and thin pieces- it was all over the place), it’s clear the people who work in the kitchen give zero craps about the food and shouldn’t be working in a restaurant. The gyro meat was just standard premade processed gyro. And the pita bread was prepackaged pita bread and not pita-like at all. Thick and cold. I also got a spanakopita with my combo plate, and it was soggy like all they did was microwave it, but also cold. Can’t believe I wasted $20 on this. Eat at Austin Habibi instead!

Just ordered Tino’s from Uber eats. Super fast delivery yet ice cold and potentially undercooked food. Salad was predominantly brown. So disappointed in the quality the last few times attempted. I guess I understand why their locations are dwindling. Sad as there’s not any quality Greek food nearby.

This is one of the most authentic Mediterranean places I’ve had the pleasure of dining at. The gyros were fantastic, the pita was served hot, and the fries had a nice, subtle spice to them. The atmosphere was clean and industrious, with a cafeteria-style serving area that gave the place a workman-like vibe, while the tables and diner-style feel added to the charm. I really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back for more Mediterranean goodness.
Candy I — Google review
They have good wraps here— gyro is moist, pita is soft, and the vegetables are fresh. The wrap is a bit small, but you can add fries for $2. The fries are perfect and go really well with the wrap. A small side of tzatziki is $2.50 which seems too expensive for a side of sauce. Overall, pretty good but a bit pricey for the portions.
Misa — Google review
Worst gyro I've ever had. It's definitely not rotisserie cooked meat. If this were my first time trying a gyro, I'd never eat another one.
Angela K — Google review
I was so excited to eat here because I’ve really been craving good Greek food and this place really disappointed me. The portions are very small for what they’re charging. The baklava was the smallest piece I’ve ever seen and definitely not worth $3.25. The lentil soup was absolutely horrible. There were no lentils and it smelled/tasted horrible. I think they gave me like a leftover batch from a week ago, it tasted old/expired. The rice pilaf is not rice pilaf.. it’s just unseasoned white rice with peas and carrots. The chicken was cold (I live 6 min away from this place) and tasted okay. As I was about to eat the Gyro meat, I found a little piece of like gold foil (in the pictures). I asked for no olives in my salad and they still put them in, not a huge deal, but it’s annoying when places don’t listen. Will not be eating here again and don’t really recommend anyone eating here. I just really hope I don’t get sick from eating this stuff.
Marisa C — Google review
Ordered through Uber Eats and the food was horrible. Chicken was bland, overcooked and dry. It didn't even taste like it had salt or pepper. Lamb was ok but also weirdly shaped cuts. Serving sizes were tiny for what they charged. Falafel was disc shaped, thin, and tasted like it was from a microwave. Zero flavor! Mashed potato no flavor and tasted like it was from a cheap box. Hummus way worse than store bought! Salad was the largest portion in the whole meal. It came with 1 large slice of tomato and two huge slices of cucumber, olives, & lettuce. Also came with a huge glob of dressing that was unappealing. Ultimately it was overpriced and there are better options.

Yamas Greek Restaurant embodies the essence of Greek culture, where the word 'Yamas' signifies a toast to good health and life's celebrations. This establishment is dedicated to infusing this spirit into every aspect of its operations, reflecting the significance of health, joy, and genuine connections deeply rooted in Greek heritage. The restaurant offers a great dining experience with generous portions and delicious food.
This was a great place for dinner. The menu had a wide selection of different dishes. The atmosphere and indoor/outdoor decor was stunning. I went on a Thursday late afternoon (5pm) without a reservation and was seated immediately. I do recommend getting a reservation, as later on it got pretty full. The Crispy Feta was super tasty and a good appetizer for at least 2 people. The Chicken Souvlaki was very tasty and super filling, it could definitely be enough to be shared among two people. I ordered the Galaktoboureko as a dessert; it wasn’t bad I just think I would’ve liked the Baklava more.

Lovely atmosphere. My first time here. Was told it was traditional Greek food and saw a burger and salmon on the menu! Ha! I tried the burger and my lunch companion tried the salmon. The other person in our part tried the chicken. The food was quite good. Items are a little pricey for what you get, but the place is what does it. You can really enjoy the place. Overall, good atmosphere.

Absolutely Worth the Drive! I drove up from Bastrop to Austin with my wife and son just to try Yamas, and it exceeded all expectations. We started with the grilled octopus, tender and flavorful and the watermelon salad, which was refreshing and delicious. For entrées, we had the Branzino whole fish, Souzoukakia (Greek meatballs over Rhodian rice), and the grilled lamb chops. Every dish was outstanding, full of authentic Greek flavor, and beautifully presented. Even the drinks were spot on. Despite hearing rumors of poor service, we had two attentive and friendly servers who made sure we were well taken care of. The ambiance was charming and added to the experience. Highly recommend if you’re looking for incredible Greek food in Austin!

Came for the lovely Mediterranean vibes and was not disappointed. The exterior had beautiful photo op spots, especially at the front entrance. The interior was just as beautiful. Arrived during brunch hours on a Saturday afternoon for two with no reservation. The best dish was the avocado toast paired with smoked salmon. They topped the smoked salmon to perfection. My husband and I were floored with how much I got on the toast. The pita bread with 4 kinds of hummus/dips was also a nice appetizer to start. Overall, service was great. They were quick and attentive and we enjoyed our little weekend date.

We had a great time at Yamas! The food was really good, with fresh flavors and well-prepared dishes. The drinks were just average—nothing special, but they did the job. The real highlight was the ambience, which was absolutely top notch. The Greek vibes are true and made the whole experience feel authentic and memorable. It’s definitely on the expensive side, so be prepared for a pricier meal.

Was initially worried about seating in the courtyard outside but the misting fans and beautifully decorated shaded area, was very comfortable on an August evening. Our waiter Fernando was very nice and helpful. The ambience and food was amazing and the Greek wine was so refreshing. Would go again in a heartbeat.

Yamas is amazing. I can’t believe I am just discovering this hidden gem. The atmosphere and decor is exactly what I envision visiting Greece would be. The food is beyond amazing. I had the sea bass which was so delicious. The menu on their website is not up to date though which honestly was a wonderful surprise because the current menu is more robust and yummy!! Service was also awesome. Can’t wait to go back.

This is the best pita I've ever had. My only regret is that I ate it too fast. If you're on south Congress you've got plenty of good restaurant options, but this one takes the cake. Well priced, generously portioned, and perfect taste.

I hate to leave bad reviews on businesses, specially those who are deemed “family owned”, but this time I just can’t help Starting by the fact that I live across the street from the strip mall where this place is located, I always wondered if it was worth give it a try, so I finally did, and to say I got disappointed, it’s an understatement I ordered a Gyro plate, with a side hummus and falafel, and pita bread Honestly, they tasted like reheated leftovers, there wasn’t anything fresh about it, I think the only “fresh” thing was the salad, everything else seems like they put it in the microwave to reheat it, the meat, the rice, the falafels, and let’s not talk about their pita bread, which was cold and stale, ironic for a business that claims to prepare everything from scratch I don’t know if it wasn’t my lucky day or what, but I wasn’t expecting this place to be so bad, the attention was subpar too, not even one time they asked if I needed anything else, and the atmosphere in general is kind of depressive Based on other reviews, seems like they use to be good back in the day, but I guess they don’t care about quality anymore, and those reviews are at least from 2 years ago, most recent ones are not as favorable, and neither is mine since they don’t seem to care about offering actually fresh food anymore Going to my black list of non-recommended places to eat 🚫👎🏼

Family owned place that has fresh and tasty fare. We ordered the lamb gyros and very much enjoyed them. The only feedback I have is the fries we got we're pretty much unseasoned and the pita wasn't as warm as I would have liked it. Will be back again to try the special!

Got food at their food truck, pretty terrible. Ridiculous waits compared to the number of people who were waiting, and my (very lukewarm/cold) lamb gyro that came with 'fries' came with one fry. When I brought it up, the cook said that's all he had. Can't believe I paid 7$ for this terrible wrap that didn't come as advertised. Hope they never come to UT again.

Ezov is an upscale Mediterranean restaurant located on East Cesar Chavez, offering a seasonal menu inspired by the Galilee region of northern Israel. The space exudes a buzzy inner-city energy reminiscent of Tel Aviv, with graffiti on the walls featuring Hebrew lyrics to Britney Spears' 'Toxic.' Chef Berty Richter presents a set dinner with eight dishes for $95, complemented by a $40 Mediterranean wine pairing and disco music spun by a DJ on the patio.
We went out for a Friday date-night dinner and Ezov absolutely blew us away. Before I get to the food, I just have to say our server Darryl (sorry if I spelled that wrong) was phenomenal. He was friendly, attentive, and really knowledgeable about the entire menu. He gave us great recommendations and really made the entire meal a wonderful experience. I know their menu changes, but here's what we had. We had two cocktails each: the Dew Drop, Kardia's Cure, Amba-Rita, and Tom Selek. All of them were tasty, but my favorite was the Dew Drop. His favorite was the Tom Selek. For food, we split a bunch of different items. We started with the Fire-Roasted Eggplant and Whipped Bulgarian Feta which was served with their house bread. The bread looks like it would be dense, but was light and airy and perfect for dipping. The Eggplant was good, but it was absolutely outshined by the Feta (which was our favorite dish of the meal). Next we decided to have some veggies. We tried the Pickles and Spicy plate along side the Smashed Cucumber and Smoked Labne. We liked all of our dishes, but the cucumber was at the bottom for us. It just didn't pack the flavor punch the rest of the dishes had, but it was still good. The Pickles and Spicy is a good name because it definitely was spicy. We really enjoyed that dish as well. Finally, we ended with the Pastrami Lamb Shank. That lamb was so crazy tender and the pastrami seasoning was perfect. It came with a garlicky sauce and interesting mustard for dipping. We left Ezov satisfied, happy, and with plenty of leftovers. I'm sure we will be back soon to try more dishes.

Had a great time with my family for my sister and brother-in-law's birthdays. This was an excellent choice. The food was amazing. Even things I usually never eat were transformed into delicious dishes. I am sure the staff was tired of me telling them how much I enjoyed each successive dish. Everything was shareable and if there is concern you will walk away still hungry, let that go because I was stuffed. Food was excellent. Try the smashed cucumbers. Service was very good. The one negative thing I would have to say is that the music was loud with a club like beat. It made it difficult to hear across the small table without yelling. General rant: (not just about this restaurant) This is an overall trend that I've noticed and don't care for; restaurants trying to create a vibrant "dance club like" feeling. To me, it makes many restaurants less enjoyable. Makes me less likely to go back. I don't get it. I have heard the same from other people across the age spectrum. So it is not a matter of: "if it is too loud, you're too old." I know some people that when the music is that loud it upsets their stomach. Ezov did turn it down a bit for a little while but we did notice the volume creep back up as the dinner progressed. If I had a suggestion it would be to switch to more of a "lounge like", lighter background music.

Came here for a birthday and they did not disappoint!! The drinks and bread were amazing. One of our guests is a vegan and they were able to accommodate without problem. But overall this a great option for vegans/non-vegans. The falafel and hummus with roasted corn are a bit spicy but highly recommended. Also, get the beef kebab at medium temp since the meat is a bit chewy. We asked for MR and I felt like it needed more time. They definitely made us feel welcome. Keep in mind they don’t provide a complimentary with a birthday occasion. You should order a dessert if you want the special touch. Our server was incredibly helpful… I wish I remembered his name.

I same day booked a table at Azov for my anniversary night, and the experience was truly outstanding. I was warmly welcomed by the receptionist, who showed me to my table, which had a thoughtful “Happy Anniversary” card from the restaurant. The waiter was incredibly friendly and attentive, offering great recommendations and ensuring everything was perfect throughout the evening. Each dish was personally presented by the chefs, who took the time to describe their creations, adding a special touch to the meal. The entire experience made the night unforgettable. I highly recommend Azov for any special occasion—whether you’re celebrating with a partner or enjoying a night out with family.

I think this is my favorite restaurant in Austin. The food was unbelievable but the staff was the best part. We had multiple servers with lots of personality come bring us our food. We always had new drinks on the way. We had the lamb hummus which was super tasty. The whipped feta with hot honey was the best dish. We also got the beef kebabs with green tomatoes. The baklava with date ice cream was soooo good too. We tried almost every drink on the menu. We were surprised by the everything bagel tini so strange but oddly smooth and satisfying. Can’t wait to come back here and try the whole menu.

Review for Devil May Care – Austin, TX ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an incredible experience at Devil May Care. The atmosphere was vibrant and inviting, and the ambiance was absolutely exceptional—perfect for a relaxed yet stylish night out. We went on what’s known as Thursday R&B night, but the DJ doesn’t start until 9:00 PM. We’re definitely planning to return so we can fully experience the DJ set and the vibe that comes with it. I ordered the hummus with pita bread and the Brussels sprouts—both were phenomenal. The flavors were rich, fresh, and perfectly balanced. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the presentation and taste. The chicken skewer was also a hit—especially if you enjoy a little heat! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed by the friendly staff and the great energy. Devil May Care is officially a new favorite in Austin. We’ll definitely be back!

Devil May Care – Austin, 6th Street The vibe and atmosphere at Devil May Care are fantastic—perfect for a night out on 6th Street. The service was friendly and attentive, and overall, the food and drinks were enjoyable. The falafel and the steak, while flavorful, could have been a little softer and juicier to truly stand out. One item that missed the mark for me was the saffron rice; it seemed more like white rice with some color rather than authentic saffron rice, and the distinct saffron flavor just didn’t come through as expected. Now for the highlight: the drinks! The cocktails here are outstanding—smooth, creative, and well-balanced. You can tell a lot of thought goes into the presentation and flavors. They truly elevate the experience and make this spot worth coming back to. Despite a couple of small areas for improvement with the food, I would definitely return for the drinks and the overall ambiance. It’s a trendy, stylish spot that’s perfect for a casual night out or a special evening with friends. If you appreciate unique cocktails and a vibrant setting, Devil May Care should be on your list!

Middle Eastern restaurant
Nestled in the vibrant streets of Austin, Shawarma Point is a delightful mobile eatery that has been serving up mouthwatering Middle Eastern cuisine since 2013. This food truck specializes in New York-style Mediterranean dishes, offering an array of Halal wraps, plates, salads, and sides designed to please every palate. Whether you're a spice enthusiast or prefer milder flavors, Shawarma Point caters to all taste preferences.
I know that true shawarma enthusiasts and purists might tear this place apart, as what they serve is far from traditional shawarma—it’s more of an Americanized adaptation, tailored to local tastes rather than sticking to the authentic Middle Eastern or Mediterranean style. That being said, if you’re looking for a solid alternative to a sandwich—something light, flavorful, and a bit different—this is a great option. The flavors are well-balanced, the portions are satisfying, and it’s an accessible, well-executed take on shawarma for the American market. Service is good, though the process takes a bit longer than expected. The kitchen is hidden from view, so you don’t get to see your food being prepared, but the ordering system is efficient. They give you a number, and instead of calling it out, you receive an SMS notification when your order is ready—a small but convenient touch. We ordered the falafel shawarma, which was juicy and flavorful, though I personally would have liked more fresh greens to balance out the texture. Overall, if you’re coming in expecting authentic shawarma, you might be disappointed. But if you’re just looking for a delicious, well-made wrap with familiar flavors, this place delivers.
Dmitriy M — Google review
I tried the shawarma over rice at their fairground branch. The ordering process was smooth and fully automated, and my food arrived within 6 to 8 minutes—a quick turnaround. However, the meal itself was not was enjoyable. The chicken felt like it was overcooked, and the hummus lacked freshness. The salad was very fresh. That said, I believe this was an isolated incident, as Shawarma Point is usually quite consistent with its quality. On a positive note, the dining area was impressive—upscale, quiet, and offering comfortable seating, making for an enjoyable ambiance. Love that they offer halal food.
Faizan K — Google review
The Chicken Shawarma wrap and the Beef and Lamb Gyro (pictured) are hand’s down the best I’ve had in Austin. The pita bread, both in the wraps and in the Pita and Hummus side, is so soft, fluffy, and light, it almost melts in your mouth. You definitely don’t have to worry about feeling heavy after eating it! Finally, the Hummus is so good! I actually asked the person at the counter if it was made in-house, because it has almost a smokey flavor I’ve never tasted before in Hummus. If you’re a shawarma fan, or if you’ve never had shawarma before and are wanting to have the best first experience, absolutely come to Shawarma Point!

I was in from out of town for business and was excited to find a halal option so easily! I got a gyro with fries and a lemonade. The lemonade was delicious and easily something I could drink all day every day. That unfortunately was the highlight of the meal. The fries were way overcooked and greasy. And the wrap has no sauces on it. They give you sauce on the side but that's impossible to put on. I also tried dipping and that didn't work either. What bothered me most though the gyro had an odd crumbly texture. Almost like ground beef. Which was odd. The flavor was fine but overall the wrap was lack luster. Would not recommend.

I didn't know what to expect because I never had a Mediterranean food. But a friend referred them so I gave it a shot. It was awesome the serving portions were very large and the service was the first rate. I would recommend kava to anyone looking for amazing dining experience.
Nico S — Google review
Always delicious! Wish the protein portion sizes were a bit larger to justify the price. The cucumber mint lime water is so refreshing. Also with the scoops and spoons they used were larger because they barely scoop any broccoli or hummus. The staff probably deserves a raise for working such long hours - not sure who is craving Mediterranean so late at night.

The food was great and filling and just overall tasted fresh compared to other places. William & Jason were a great help as for it was my 1st time there & and it won’t be my last time . Wonderful experience!

I love cavas. I am a huge fan but the service here was pathetic. I ordered crispy falafel pita. Since I was doing a take out, I asked them to put everything in the bowl and give me pita on the side. The guy heard and started making harrisa bowl. When I stopped him, he agreed he made a mistake. Then he started to make crispy falafel, goes on to add things on pita and then asked if I want falafel on side 😔 I decided to just let him put everything on the pita since I didnt want him to make any other changes. He passed it to another lady, she started adding cauliflower to it. I told her that wasn’t the part of the pita, she agreed, she made a mistake and started all over. The most tasty part of this pita is their sauce skhug and garlic sauce. This lady was in a major rush, not sure why, because it wasn’t like there was a huge line. Anyways she completes my pita with garlic sauce and some other sauce, passes for billing and walks away. I stood there saying, can you pls add skhug sauce. The billing lady realized the other lady missed it and started squeezing a huge amount of that sauce which made the pita soggy to start with 😔 Very frustrating. Not going to this chain again.

Cava has such a long list and almost overwhelming amount of options, but I’ve never gone wrong here! Abby and Oriana helped me out, and they were very kind and helpful. I find myself thinking of cava often, it’s very worth a try! And worth coming back. My order is Spendid greens, Saffron basmati rice, Harissa honey chicken, Tzaziki, Traditional hummus, Crazy feta, Fiery broccoli, Fire roasted corn, Cabbage slaw, Persian cucumbers, and romaine lettuce. I also get Garlic dressing and Hot Harissa vinaigrette to add, then pita chips on the side. Literally never fails to satisfy me!!!!!

Outstanding service! The staff here are incredibly friendly and helpful. I was in a rush and forgot to add protein to my bowl, but when I asked about it later, they added it without any extra charge. On top of that, the bowl was made perfectly. Highly recommend!

If you're on the hunt for a delicious and satisfying meal, look no further than Halal Bros. This vibrant eatery welcomes you with friendly staff and a spacious atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for both casual dining or gathering with friends. Their combination rice plate featuring tender lamb and chicken is a must-try; it's served over freshly made rice, drizzled with their signature creamy and spicy sauces, accompanied by a refreshing side salad.
This was my first time ordering here and this place is great! I ordered take out online and ordered a gyro bowl. I ordered chicken and lamb. The food is so delicious and they give you American portions! Huge portions for good price. I’m happy with the spicy sauce, it’s extra spicy too and not like your typical basic hot sauce. In depth spicy flavor. Overall good experience, busy location but quick with service, staff up front were great and nice. Will be coming back for dine in.

Tried Halal Bros recently and really enjoyed the food everything was fresh and flavorful! The prices are very reasonable, making it a great value for a casual meal. Service was decent and the atmosphere is simple and laid-back. One small suggestion would be to keep the place a little cleaner for an even better experience. Overall, a solid spot for tasty halal food in Austin!

5 stars for their chicken kabob over rice, easily their best item. Chicken is very high quality and flavor is immense. Easily my favorite dish from a restaurant in recent memory. Their other forms of chicken/lamb don't come close to the kebab.

Halal Bros is my all-time favorite for shawarma with rice! We always order delivery, and everything arrives fresh, flavorful, and in generous portions. Their Chicken Shawarma and the Beef Shawarma over Rice are hard to beat. The Hummus was creamy, garlicky, and paired perfectly with the pita. If you’re craving authentic Middle Eastern flavors and hearty servings, Halal Bros is the place to go!
Jobie A — Google review
The food is great but I’m unhappy with the new packaging. It causes them to squish the food and all of my hummus just stuck to the lid. They also gave us a partially incorrect order that we couldn’t verify at the restaurant due to the new packaging.

I usually don’t write reviews but this experience compelled me to write one so that others could be benefited and don’t fall into the trap of good reviews. I am really surprised with the number of positive ratings it has. I easily got deceived by them. I ate chicken shawarma rice bowl, worst rice bowl I ever ate in my life. It had 0 flavors , 0 taste , only 80%cooked chicken with a very bad aftertaste. My stomach was upset after eating that.

This place ROCKS!!! I love the lamb and chicken combo over rice!!! People think that it is expensive, but this combo is more than enough for three meals 😲!!!..... Be sure and get a couple of extra white sauces to mix with the red sauce, because that red sauce packs a punch🥵! Seriously, I have dreams in the middle of the night craving this food 😋

This was my first dine-in at Halal Bros. It was my anniversary and we decided to hop in after going through positive reviews. The restaurant is small and simple, but the service and food were top notch. I ordered Chicken shawarma over rice, and I myself couldn't complete it at one go. I took the lunch back to my house and relished it. My husband ordered a Falafel wrap, Baklava, hummus, Dolma and he was literally obsessed with the quality. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Their staff are also pretty nice in behavior. Will order again. ❤️ Keep shining 🌟.

Always plenty of parking and the inside dining area usually always has space. Many people also order takeout if that is more your style. They do have a kids meal aswell. I recommend to anybody who is looking for a quick bite to eat.

Wow, we were titillated above and beyond by the flavors here at Kismet--decadent, vibrant, effervescent. The sauces, falafel and baba ganoush were exceptional. The staff was also terrific, generous with their time and recommendations, and helping us get all our vegan needs met. We'll be back!

“We tried the chicken over rice, lamb Masawi, Arabic wraps, and some drinks—and everything was delicious! The chicken over rice and the lamb were especially standout. The hummus tasted freshly made, and the fries had a naturally savory flavor. It felt like the perfect blend of Middle Eastern cuisine with an Asian twist. Planning to come back again, hopefully with more family next time!”

Beef over rice is actually ground beef. Baklava was too dry and looked like waiting for a week. The food was disappointing for me. Wouldn’t go again

I genuinely don’t know how this place doesn’t have a higher rating. I’ve eaten so much Mediterranean / Greek food around town and this is definitely in my top 2! All of the sauces are delicious (especially the orange explosion and garlic sauce). The fries are well seasoned and everything is amazing all around! Wish I lived closer.

Great customer service. A blond woman helped us out. She answered all of our questions, she was great, super helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. They have chips, yogurt drinks, candy bars, ice cream, high chairs for babies, damn they have everything you need to have a comfortable and warm meal. The place is super cozy with booth and table options. The music is nice and relaxing. The food is perfect! So delicious, prepared fresh! Also cool, they have a self ordering kiosk, a really nice touch.

Tx Shawarma is a Mediterranean restaurant in Austin that offers delivery services. Located at the Thicket Food Park on South 1st, this spot serves up delicious shawarma and other Mediterranean delights. Customers rave about the chicken shawarma plate, beef kabob wrap, falafel with pita bread, and flavorful side of fries. The food is made fresh to order and packed full of flavor.
Really really loved this place. I came here after a workout for some Mediterranean soul food and man they did not disappoint. Right off of S 1st Street in a nice little food truck park is Tx Shawarma. I ordered the gyro plate when I went, and what I got was SUPER delicious and filled with flavor. And there's a really interesting thing about their gyro meat that I want to point out--each piece had a crispy edge! It's not something I've ever had when eating gyro elsewhere, but honestly, it was such a nice touch. I would go back just for that alone. However, the whole experience was so much more! The vegetables were fresh and also had a nice crisp. The white sauce, hot sauce, and pita bread were all amazing. And the gentleman who helped me was so nice too! This place is in the upper tier of Mediterranean food trucks in the downtown Austin area. If you're already downtown and in the market for this, go south of the river and stop by even if it means more driving. It's worth it, I promise!

Decided to pick up dinner at the Thicket Food Park location on South 1st. It was our first time trying and the young guy working the truck was super kind and explained everything throughly. We ordered: The chicken shawarma plate The beef kabob wrap Side of falafel (it comes with pita bread, white sauce and hot sauce) Side order of fries (white sauce, hot sauce and ketchup on the side, at the suggestion of the worker so my fries wouldn’t be soggy on the ride home!) The food was hot and super delicious! The wait was no problem at all. I’d also like to mention that the menu is super visible, everything that comes on a dish is clearly stated and if a modification is necessary they will happily do it. In my case I didn’t want red onions on the chicken shawarma plate so they left them off. We’ll definitely be coming back!

This place is to die for. I always love to grab the gyro plate and the falafel. If I’m starving, all goes away in one go. If I’m not starving, I get some crazy good leftovers out of the deal. The guys that take and cook the orders are super cool. The food has me telling everyone I know that they need to try it for themselves. I will keep going back so long as they stay open. The commute is easy for me, I’m roughly 8 minutes away. I never struggle to find a place to park. 5 stars all the way!!

AMAZING!!! Best gyro wrap that I’ve had in Austin! It is cooked fresh and both meat and vegetables are oozing out which I love!! Tzatziki sauce is on point and they add hot sauce to make it even more flavorsome!! Absolutely delicious!! I forgot to take a pic before I took a huge bite!! Sorry the picture was taken after a huge bite so it doesn’t do it justice because all I cared about was eating more…

We ordered catering for our housewarming party, and the food was incredible! Our friends (many from New York) asked, "Where did you find this kind of New York shawarma quality in Austin?" Not only that, but my husband and I eat here at least once every few weeks. It's one of our go-to hidden gems in Austin!

This place is absolutely AMAZING!!! EVERY damn time I go to any Mediterranean food truck. They just do not make it right like this food truck. The gentleman that served me, his name is Jose, we had a lengthy conversation about our values in life and he ALWAYS has my back no matter what. I've only met the man a handful of times. The chicken, the rice, the falafel, EVERYTHING ALWAYS HITS. Especially, when the boy JOSE is whipping it up. 10/10 I've showed everyone this food truck from my grandma to my home boys. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE just TRY this place❣️

Falafel Burger, located in Cedar Park, is a Mediterranean restaurant known for its exceptional falafel dishes. Despite the name, the menu offers more than just falafel, with options like kofta kebab and chicken breast available for burgers and tacos. The restaurant provides a meat-or-vegan friendly experience with no compromise on taste. Customers praise the delicious falafel burgers, seasoned fries, fatoush falafel salad, and flavorful babaghanoush.
Had lunch here on a day of running errands, and so glad we decided to try it out! We really enjoyed all the food and flavors, and we took other reviewers advice and had the lemon mint smoothie too :) We had chicken shawarma and a musakhan chicken sandwich. Both sandwiches were excellent and we got the combos with za’atar fries and Cajun fries and we were very happy with both. We got the special sauce on the side and that was great for the fries. We ate on the patio (this location is in an old Sonic building). It was a bit windy and near the road, but it was worth it to eat everything fresh. The service was prompt and very friendly. We will definitely be back!

This place is the bomb.com Came here blindly, the falafel is soooo good. I’ve had falafel all over the world, and this is on point! I met my friend here for lunch and we were blown away by the food and the service. Abdul was so nice and made recommendations since it was our first time. We got the chicken shawarma, the falafel cheeseburger, and zaatar fries. Both were very good but the chicken shawarma was a major standout, it was so good I had to order another to take home. The lemon mint smoothie is incredibly refreshing and my new favorite. I love a place with walk-up service since I live in the neighborhood, and a place this good is hard to find.

Sarah's Mediterranean Grill is a cozy market and cafe in Austin, offering a variety of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean groceries as well as delicious takeaway meals. It was one of the original Mediterranean market-and-cafes in the area, providing a welcoming space for visitors to enjoy authentic cuisine. The restaurant features small tables alongside a grocery selection, allowing patrons to grab some groceries while enjoying their meal.
I came to this location with my parents in June 2019 after we attended the rock and gem mineral show at Austin. We waited our hunger a bit and wanted something that was Mediterranean or Arabic. So I was looking at my phone trying to see which one we would go and eventually this was it. Well when we went inside the atmosphere was not fancy but casual, which was okay. When I sat down in one of their tables I felt kinda funny because I as a tall person like myself sitting in one of their tables I felt that the the table was hitting my Chest which it wasn’t. Well to start with our orders we wanted something to have rice, salad and some other vegetables, so we had the chicken shawarma. Plus a side order of fries, well I felt in that moment that my chicken was fine but as for my parents they felt the chicken was kinda rubbery on the outside. The skin on the outside was difficult for them to chew. We liked the side orders overall, what was interesting about this location is that they serve different types of pizzas. They don’t make only salty but sweet like chocolate strawberry, banana and sweet milk pudding etc…

183 Grill in Austin is a charming, family-owned grill located in a strip mall. Despite its unassuming exterior, the interior reveals a cozy cafe serving up an array of delectable dishes such as burgers, gyros, falafel, and cheesesteak sandwiches. The menu features Greek specialties like authentic gyros and house-made falafel that transport diners to the streets of Greece. Customers rave about the traditional flavors reminiscent of their experiences abroad.
I spent 6 years in Greece and had authentic food there. I have spent 34 years across the United States trying "Greek" restaurants but never found anything close to what I knew as authentic. That was changed for me after having the Traditional Gyro at 183 Grill. It was so authentic that it be brought back memories of my youth. 5 stars is not nearly enough for this place. My waitress was polite and provided prompt service. Great job for a local family owned business!!

Lunch time, craving a burger... The burger photo on the side of this business cought my eye so I stopped by for one. Walked in and was told to choose a table and I was presented with a menu. I was ready to order so I was going for a 🍔 burger. The waitress apologized that they just ran out of burgers, so I decided to go with a chicken gyro. Well, I received it pretty fast, but very disappointing to find out that 80%of it was lettuce with 3-4 strips of chicken about 1/8" thick. So it pretty much tasted like bread and lettuce. It wasn't really what I expected. During my visit I did not get asked once if my food was ok. I guess this place is just not for me. In 1/2 hr I will probably have to eat again since i left kinda hungry but after spending almost $12 I don't really know... Just because my experience at your establishment was bad you don't have to be sarcastic and yes, that experience "made my day long...". The only time you stopped by my table is when you asked me if I'm ready for the check. I hope you just don't remember, because lying is just really ugly.

We had the falafel wrap and Roman Gyro. So good!! The hibiscus tea was refreshing. Overall super nice family owned place. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Laura S — Google review
Good casual food. With sit down service. Had the gyro with salad. The salad was not much of a salad, just the lettuce from the gyro and a wedge of tomato, slice of cucumber and some Parmesan cheese, but the dressing did make up for the lack of other makings. The gyro meat was good, finely sliced and grilled small, but good. I would have enjoyed it more if there was a bit more meat on the sandwich, but the crispness of the meat was nice.
Andrew H — Google review
Worst gyro ever. Cut the meat off broiler days ago. Recooks meat on grill and chops it up. Way over priced. $30 for gyro, gyro salad, and two drinks - 2 baklava. Tried again on 3/26/2019. Same experience. Horrible food. I will never go back.

I’ll highly recommend it! Good place for late night food near UT.

Gyro Delicious has exceptional, fresh and consistent food. I've tried many of their menu items and they never fail to satisfy my appetite. On top of that, the owner, Abbas, is such a humble and generous man. I never thought the best gyro I've ever had would come from a food truck but this one surpasses all expectations! Featured in the attached photos is the chicken plate (typically comes with a bed of lettuce, cucumber, pickles, onion and tomato but I subbed it for extra rice), fresh pita, and hummus. 10 out of 10.

Do you like a little lamb? I sure do! This place has the best gyro plate during lunch. For the value and quality freshness of the salad, rice, gyro meat, and pita bread, I can make two meals out of this! A few times, I made the error of eating it all during one sitting, and I was paying for it later. Definitely try it out, and I hear they have a great happy hour!

I'm no Greek food connoisseur so perhaps I'm not fully qualified to say that this is the best Greek food that I've ever had, but this is the best Greek food that I've ever had. The restaurant is tidy and the wait-staff friendly and prompt. The sampler is a great choice if you want to try a little bit of everything for future visits. The website presentation is also tidy which makes it easier to look over the selection in advance. Give this place a try if you like Greek food or you aren't sure whether or not you do.

Delicious, and super fast service. Cafeteria style. I've never seen someone build a plate that fast. A bit in the pricey side and they don't give you a water cup. Good for a once in a while place but I wouldn't go often, especially if you're on a budget.

Right off of Congress at 6th, you enter a quickly moving line to order and your plate is made up as you go down the counter. The Greek dishes are excellent. Even with plenty of seating, the restaurant draws a crowd, and the decor is not anything fancy, but it's a great downtown lunch spot.

Food court
When in downtown Austin, make sure to check out the food truck park located at 6th/7th Street & Red River Street. Known as Dirty Street, this pedestrian-only zone is closed to traffic from Thursday evening to Sunday evening and is a popular entertainment district. The park offers a great atmosphere with a variety of food options available from Mediterranean, Portuguese, and Indian food trucks.
Needed nourishment to help me keep going!
Tobin T — Google review
College kids pretty much run this place, so it doesn't open until after 5. Hours are incorrect 🙃
Chase Y — Google review
Glad to see this spot's still around - can't go wrong with the Chicken Tikka and Naan. They've been at it for like 7+ years...
Nelson K — Google review
Great atmosphere, one of the Mediterranean trucks (out back) was great. Good variety of food available. Portuguese truck plays the best music. Can try chai from the Indian food truck.
