Restaurant
Magnolia Cafe is a beloved local eatery in Austin, known for its breakfast offerings, Tex-Mex dishes, and vegetarian options. The cafe has a rich history, with its second location on SoCo opening in 1988 and becoming an integral part of Austin's culinary scene. Originally established as the Omelettry West in 1979, it was transformed into the vibrant Magnolia Cafe we know today in 1987.
Magnolia Cafe – A Perfect Austin Kickoff Spot! We started our day at Magnolia Cafe, and it was the perfect move. The landscape hash was hearty and delicious — definitely a meal that keeps you fueled for a day of exploring. We split a pitcher of mimosas, which set a great tone, and the atmosphere was relaxed and classic Austin. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the whole place just had that cool, laid-back vibe you want in a brunch spot. Whether you’re looking for a big breakfast, a boozy brunch, or just a solid spot to start your day, Magnolia Cafe delivers. Can’t wait to come back!

I've been having the occasional dinner here since the mid-90s, more frequently in the beginning but less so in the last few years as I don't find myself around south Congress very often anymore. Last Sunday, we decided to swing by, in part for old time's sake, and I'm glad we did. Magnolia Cafe is still an Austin original, and, after decades, still true to what made it a local institution. Food was just as I remember it, flavorful and with fresh ingredients, service was great and the place was perfectly clean. We had the stir fry, the black bean entree, and a key lime pie slice; everything was delicious. Since the pandemic, they are not open 24 hours anymore but, otherwise, still there. We'll definitely be coming back a lot more often.

Magnolia Cafe is such a charming local spot!! Friendly and attentive service, nice indoor and outdoor seating, large menu (everything looks so good), and a mimosa bar while waiting to be seated (quick wait times). Loved our queso omelette and croissant-wich! We got lucky and were able to park at the restaurant but more parking is available close by. LOVED this restaurant experience!
Sammi M — Google review
This place is seriously super cute! Service was amazing and the food was delicious. While you wait you can purchase a beverage out back, and we only waited about 15 min. Seating consists of indoor and outdoor. Parking lot can be busy, but there is a side lot and parking in the back. Def worth the wait!

I have to admit, Magnolia Cafe has been in my list of places to try but somehow it never happened. Today, because we're in the neighborhood, so we decided to visit one located in the South Congress Ave. After putting the name down to get a table (a straight forward process that just need to scan a barcode and fill out the information), we got seated within 20 minutes. We started with Chips, queso and salsa (It was so good and gone so fast that did not have time to take a picture 😅); for the lunch we got Chicken and the Egg, Omelette with shredded beef, Chicken Enchiladas and Voodoo Blue Cheese burger with a side order of home fries (My order). Without knowing what to expect, I have to admit that it was an outstanding burger: from the nicely cooked beef patties to blue cheese crumbles and grilled buns, the result far exceeded my expectation. I'm addition, judging by how quickly the rest of family finished their meals, I can only assume other dishes were good, too. The service we received was excellent, definitely deserves to be mentioned. Overall, it was a great dining experience. Highly recommend it. 👏🏼👍🏼👍🏼

This was our second visit, although this time on Saturday around noon it was kind of disappointing. Both host staff was not friendly or welcoming, just matter of fact.-no smiles! Our server was very friendly but very distracted and not very attentive to us. We had to wave her down a couple of times to get some assistance. We ordered the Biscuits and Gravy added shredded beef which was yummy and the Magnolia Stir Fry which was not yummy. The Stir Fry was more like a soup, way too much teriyaki sauce and barely any rice. The highlight was the Root Beer Float, perfection!! If we go back, I’ll stick with breakfast items.
C J — Google review
Vibe is what Austin used to feel like about a decade ago: eclectic, unserious, fun, and quirky! The service is top notch! I'm gluten free and their jalapeno cornbread pancake is so yummy! I add feta and bacon to mine for a sweet/savory/creamy/spicy experience. It's so yum! I also enjoy their huevos rancheros too! Great place for a brunch spot and they're open 24 hours on the weekends!! Make sure to come early to put your name down for the guest list!

We were visiting Austin from Denver and one of our Denver Friends recommended Magnolia Cafe to us. The food here was awesome and I highly recommend it me and everyone else at our table ended up getting breakfast items, and all of them were delicious! I got an omelette (that I can't remember the name of) and ginger pancakes stuffed with bananas, and it was delicious! My friend got the shredded beef omelette and said it was awesome, and my girlfriend got the chocolate chip pancakes and also loved them. Overall I highly recommend this place for their breakfast this was probably the best omelette I've ever had!

Matt's El Rancho is a family-friendly Tex-Mex restaurant that has been a staple in Austin since 1952. It offers a wide variety of classic Tex-Mex dishes such as enchiladas, burritos, and tacos, all made with fresh, house-made tortillas. The restaurant is known for its legendary Bob Armstrong Dip, which features taco meat covered in queso and topped with sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo.
A very old eating institution in Austin. I used to go to the one in Dallas. This one is always packed but everything they do is great. We had a 40 min wait but it went by fast with drinks. We were seated outside. Nice patio You HAVE to get The Bob. It’s just as yummy here as in Dallas. I didn’t get a picture of The Bob as it was so good we devoured it fast Worth a try and wait for sure.
Cindy M — Google review
I had a relaxing lunch on the patio. Liz C was my server and not only was she super nice, but very knowledgeable about the menu. The small Bob Armstrong was the perfect size for me to enjoy with my chips and salsa. The salsa is on the spicy side if you’re not a fan of heat. The extra cheese and guacamole was also good on my brisket tacos. The sunset margarita was refreshing and not overly sweet. I would recommend this spot for good Tex-Mex while in Austin.
Lesley L — Google review
Came here for a quick lunch after a business meeting. Didn’t expect much from a Tex mex restaurant called Matt’s and I was impressed. Service was friendly and fast. Inside is very cozy and warm. They have patio seating in the back. Chips and salsa hit the spot. Waitress recommended the Asadero tacos and boy am I ever glad I went with it. It was so tender and flavorful that I didn’t add the fixings that came with the food. $20 for two tacos which is pricey but well worth it.

Great time, excellent food, exceptional service from entire staff; from bussing service to waiter - Esmeralda Cruz so personable, knowledgeable about food and drink choices! One of the most personable servers in past 5 years! First time here, definitely NOT the last when good service and atmosphere - accompanied by GREAT food and drink - BRAVO Matt's!!!
Linda B — Google review
This place is a must in Austin! The bob Armstrong dip and really anything on the menu is amazing 🤩 they get you seated quick for the amount of customers that go there. The parking lot is huge, but because so many people go there, it can sometimes be a bit hard to find a spot, but it can be done!
Sophia S — Google review
What an amazing place. Amazing margaritas and amazing Tex Mex rounded off with fast, friendly service. Get a margarita (or two) while waiting for your table. Dip your chips in the B.O.B. Armstrong all while enjoying a great night at an Austin institution.
Mike D — Google review
I dined in Friday evening 10/24 about 730pm the light was very intimidating, but it moved really fast. It seems crazy and chaotic, but it’s worth the weight. We got margaritas from the bar as we waited for our table. We got seated inside in the back. It was very loud so we asked for a table on the patio, which I would recommend we ate right by the pond. The food was delicious. The roasted garlic and jalapeños to die for service was greatthat chips and salsa. Amazing if you like spice every time I go to Austin, I will try to make this place. It was delicious.
Darilyn C — Google review
We saw the long line and decide to check it out. It was good but I move had better but it’s good. Lots of people only complaint is if you have a full size car or truck good luck with parking lol

El Alma, a Mexican restaurant and rooftop bar in Austin, is named after its renowned chef, Alma Alcocer-Thomas. The multi-tiered establishment offers inventive Mexican cuisine and cocktails in a chic setting adorned with local art. Its main attraction is the rooftop patio, which provides stunning views of downtown Austin from Barton Springs Road.
I’d heard so much about El Alma, and I finally made it—wish I had gone sooner! 🌮 Ordered the 2-taco lunch plate with duck and salmon tacos—both were incredible! 🍹 Great drinks and a lively atmosphere, even during a busy lunch rush. 🍰 Save room for dessert! You won’t regret it. A fantastic Austin spot—highly recommend!

Delicious and innovative flavors, fun atmosphere, and great service! My friends and I found this place for dinner while visiting Austin. We lucked out last minute because a reservation canceled, so we got seating on the rooftop - that was a fun experience. We ordered the queso blanco y rojo (great!), the ceviche (great!), the ahi tuna ceviche tostada (I was so happy with this - lots of flavor!!), the sweet potato relleno (yum!), and the enchiladas (great!). We really enjoyed this meal - I love flavor combos, and they delivered! The ambiance inside and out is fun. I highly recommend, and I’ll be back for the sho tuna ceviche tostadas!!!
John T — Google review
We go here every year for my Wife's birthday and we love it. Great food and drinks. The quesos are amazing, the margs and cocktails are great too. El Alma is a great blend of high quality Mexican food and drinks with an accessible atmosphere for even the most casual of diners.
Dakota D — Google review
Recommend… they have a great happy hour! The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because the table my party was sat at was dirty when we were seated and it wasn’t busy at all so it was just a little gross but after it was cleaned off the rest of the experience was great!
Lexie N — Google review
Amazing food and experience! We had zero wait at lunchtime on a Saturday. I got the shrimp enchiladas with the tomato chipotle sauce and they were amazing. Their chips are also some of the best I have ever had. Highly recommend!
SethBM — Google review
Fantastic experience. Fun atmosphere. Friendly and efficient service. And the menu was outstanding! We started out with guac and queso which were both great. For tacos I ordered the al pastor and chicken tinga and they were delicious. And I can’t forget the cocktails— my favorite was the como la flor!
Anastasia — Google review
El Alma absolutely delivered! My wife and I stopped in after a long day on the road—not super hungry, but wanted something light. We ordered the ceviche clásico and it was incredible. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. The margaritas were top notch—easily some of the best we’ve had in Austin. We sat upstairs and, yeah, it was a little warm, but the view and the vibe totally made up for it. Great atmosphere, great service, and an overall fantastic experience. Can’t wait to come back when we’re hungrier!
Stephen B — Google review
Great Mexican food, drinks, and ambiance. A little pricey for what you get, but the experience makes it worthwhile. A beautiful winding rock stairwell takes you up to their rooftop deck where you can watch the birds, listen to the Cicadas, and enjoy the Austin weather near the river, while sipping on a Clásica Margarita or a delicious frozen Mangorita with a Chile rim (I had both, just to be safe). Food and service get docked one star because there was silver skin on the steak, which shouldn't happen at this price, and our appetizer (Ahi Tostadas, which were great), didn't come out until the rest of the food had arrived. Otherwise, it was yummy and the staff were very friendly. We'd definitely go back!

Kerbey Lane Cafe in Round Rock is part of a well-loved chain known for its diverse locations and inviting atmosphere. This particular spot, nestled in a charming shopping center, boasts ample indoor and outdoor seating along with a play area for kids and a dog-friendly patio. The menu consistently delivers delicious American comfort food, making it an ideal spot for brunch or any meal. Whether you're craving classic breakfast fare or flavorful enchiladas, this cafe has something to satisfy every palate.
Had a fantastic breakfast at Kerbey Lane! The coffee was rich and smooth—exactly what I needed to kickstart my morning. I had an omelette that was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, with fresh-cut fruits on the side that were crisp, sweet, and beautifully presented. But the real standout was the pancakes—especially the carrot cake and the gluten-free ones. The carrot cake pancake had the perfect balance of sweetness and spice, almost like having dessert for breakfast, and the gluten-free option was just as fluffy and flavorful as a regular one, which is rare to find! Great service, cozy atmosphere, and consistently delicious food. This place never disappoints—definitely one of my top breakfast spots in Austin.
Ramin K — Google review
I love this restaurant! I told the waitress it was my first time here and she gave me the entire run down of options of what to order. She also told me kids eat free on Tuesdays and helped me figure out items I could get as kids rather than main items to help me save money (my favorite!). Also, the vibe is so perfect, local artists have art in the walls. I just loved my experience. And the food was so delicious!!! Super win all around!!! ❤️
Jenifer A — Google review
We have had many items on the menu it’s good but some items not so good. I had let the waitress know for example biscuit and gravy entree was bland dry and didn’t taste good. I asked if the recipe had changed she said no and didn’t do anything to try and make it right. She was busier chatting with staff and we kept having to flag her down for food and drink orders. She only asked how things were once didn’t offer refills and didn’t care to check in. That’s the only no for me and my family. However, minus that one waitress won’t mention by name maybe she was having an off day. Only other item not a fan was the pulled pork sandwhich flavor not bad but the batch I had super dry. On the good - All of our waiters and waitresses always friendly and kind. Food general is yummy and drinks non alcoholic and alcoholic. Queso is the best! Still worth a try. Menu was recently updated. Our favorites are the lemon poppy pancakes, deviled eggs, salmon, truffle fries, breakfast tacos, beef is delicious. Worth a try. We love also our Kerbey lane Tshirts!
E A — Google review
Ordered take out this morning and their quality has really gone downhill, at least for to go orders. Pancakes are a significantly smaller and avocados are brown. Used to love this place.
H M — Google review
Great atmosphere. It's clean and inviting. Great color scheme and overall ambiance. Service was great also. We had a seasonal red velvet pancake. For the price, I think they could serve it with more attention to detail and exciting presentation. It only had a drizzle of some kind of sweet cream on top. I suggest adding a dollop of whipped cream, powdered sugar and the drizzle on top. This would make me feel excited to eat the food. I wouldn't go back for the food.
Joan F — Google review
My family and I enjoyed a delightful dinner at this fine establishment. By far our favorite kerby lane cafe location! Our server, Daniel, made our interactions very pleasant and was super attentive. We really enjoyed his friendly demeanor. Very welcoming so we will be requesting him again. Thank you kerby!!
Alexandria P — Google review
Always consistent and always very timely with your food. The original location is charming, but parking can be a chore, unless you choose the time carefully. Ask for Erika as your server at the Kerby Lane location. She really leans into making your latte beautiful and just enjoys her job.
Stephen H — Google review
So all of my food was good, my family enjoyed all their food as well. My favorite was the cinnamon swirl pancake! I'm not gonna lie I was a little disappointed with the "home fries" I'm used to home fries being shredded hash browns with a lil seasoning fried in a pan with onions, so that's not what I was expecting at all. As we proceed to get our tab, the waiter tells us someone already paid for our meal! We were definitely surprised! This it the first time this have ever happened to me, the kind of thing I only see on reels lol. Just goes to show there are still kind people in this world. ☺️ S/o to the lady in the green dress 2 tables away because my husband knew it was you! God bless you sis ❤️

Mexican restaurant
Torchy's Tacos is a popular chain known for its creative and affordable Mexican street-food-style tacos, including breakfast options. The restaurant originated from a successful food truck and has since expanded throughout the city. It offers a menu filled with inventive taco varieties, such as green chile pork, fried avocado, and Baja shrimp. Additionally, their Texas-style tacos featuring brisket, smoked sausage, and fried avocado are highly praised.
Service at the bar and food area was great. The staff went above and beyond and found a pair of sunglasses I left behind. The atmosphere is hip, and they have happy hour drink and food specials. We bought margaritas, which were good but not overly strong. We like the Democrat taco option the best - yummy brisket and traditional toppings. The fried avocado taco was nicely done. I would definitely recommend!!
Robyn J — Google review
These are the most fire tacos I’ve had at a chain restaurant. Only place in Austin we ate twice on our 5 day trip! There is definitely a lot of good food in Austin but these tacos… 🔥
Kenneth L — Google review
Just a usual chain taco shop, not a fancy special taco shop. We didn't know this place wasn't an authentic taco shop as tourists! 😞 Food was just okay, but far from great. You'd better not pick this place if you're looking for a great taco place.
L — Google review
Tacos I’d say are mid, nothing mind blowing. Creative flavors, but otherwise wouldn’t say was anything amazing. I got the steak fajita taco, migos breakfast taco, a fried chicken taco, and the street corn. Street corn was very good actually and highly recommend it. Steak was a little bit tough for the steak fajita one. The fried chicken was ok, just a chicken finger inside a flour tortilla. This restaurant is a tad bit expensive for her it is. I paid $21 for 3 tacos and a half order of street corn. Tacos are about $6 each, a little pricey for what it is if you ask me. Environment was nice and clean. Restaurant is serviceable if you want a quick reliable meal that’s convenient. Otherwise, nothing to really write home about.

Did we spot Bruce Willis in front of Torchy’s? Anyways, back to Torchy’s. Danni and Moses were very helpful and I was excited to try The Republican gluten free and dairy free (because of Danni’s expertise). It was smoky and not fatty. Loved it. The boys liked the swivel chairs. Great spot to go to when visiting the library.
Kelly T — Google review
We sat at the bar and were finally served a drink, but then completely ignored for over 10 minutes. I eventually had to go up to the counter to order. The staff was rude and unhelpful, the food was mediocre at best, and the drinks were just bad. Definitely not the experience we were hoping for and won’t be returning.
Kinzington M — Google review
My meal was perfect: the food had a punchy taste and smaller options were just right for my half-hungry stomach. Love the ordering system through the terminal. My order came out fast.
Victor M — Google review
The food was good, service great. The staff was incredibly kind and dealt with some customers who didn't do a very good job cleaning up after themselves. Great staff, Torchy's! Get the Baja tacos and churros!

Tex-Mex restaurant
Restaurant
Chuy's is a popular Tex-Mex chain originating from Austin, known for its 'big as yo' face' burritos and other Tex-Mex dishes. The highlight of Chuy's is their famous queso, which is served for free during happy hour in the back of a Cadillac trunk. Additionally, they offer a 'nacho car' with fresh salsas, creamy queso, and warm chips to enjoy with margaritas and beer.
Chuy’s is AMAZING. We were frantically searching for a last minute option after our first choice restaurant was full at 6 on a Saturday night, and not only did Chuy’s seat us quickly, they also managed to get all nine of us close together by seating us at adjacent tables! The food and service is impeccable. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and taco salad, and let me just say, if you’re looking for a healthy, filling, and yet incredibly delicious meal, this is for you. The excellent creamy jalapeño sauce on top really brought it together. Love Chuy’s. Could not recommend more!

Food was good but they got our order wrong (ordered a steak burrito, billed for a steak burrito, received a chicken burrito) and service was slow. At this point we were so hungry we ate what they brought. Waitress was great. No mojito mix, long wait for a table even though we had reservations. Green sauce is the best part.

Fun & casual atmosphere. Good food, large portions (I couldn’t finish my meal), & colorful surroundings. It can feel a little cozy when there are a lot of people there. Staff was nice & attentive. You can’t go wrong with margaritas, right?

This was my first time to eat at a Chuy's. I've heard a lot about them. I live in Abilene, Tx and we are getting one. Turns out this is their FIRST location. The place has tons of character. It was a super busy Saturday night during football season. We rode our motorcycles to the place which was nuts at 9PM!!! The steak and green chili burrito was the BEST burrito I have ever had in my life. The flavor was amazing. Our waitress was excellent and visited a little with us. All four of us had fantastic meals and totally worth the 30 minute wait. You will not regret a meal at Chuy's!!!

Chuy’s – Tex-Mex That Hits All the Right Notes Tex-Mex done right! From the moment I took a sip of my large margarita, I knew I was in for a treat. The flavors took me straight back to my childhood—comforting, bold, and just the right kind of nostalgic. I had the King’s Memorial Combo, and it was incredible in both taste and value. Chuy’s nails it with great food, fun vibes, and spot-on pricing. Highly recommend if you’re craving classic Tex-Mex with flavor that delivers.

Seattle tourist here! Went with a local because it’s a good spot to get your generic Tex Mex fix while in Austin but not much else. The Margarita with a Tajin rim was amazing. The Queso Compuesto dip was pretty addicting. I dont know why I got the taquitos but they were forgettable (I didn’t even take a pic). The server was lovely and helpful with their house sauces recommendation. I just wanted a hot sauce but they don’t have that

This is an amazing place. It's the original Chuy's location that has been there since 1982! There's a bunch of different dining rooms plus outdoor tables and a bar area. The staff are great and very friendly and helpful. Prices are not unreasonable and the food is very good. All in all it was a very good experience for my first time eating tex/mex food.

I went here with my family a few months ago when we were in town for a wedding and it was delicious!!! Our waiter was very polite and generous. He gave outstanding service. The food was so delicious with a combination of Texan and Mexican food. I will definitely come again!

Tacodeli is an Austin-based taqueria chain that offers a variety of meat, seafood, and vegetarian options, including a breakfast menu. The restaurant is known for its delicious tacos, with options for both meat lovers and vegetarians. Customers can enjoy their meals inside the cozy seating area or opt for picnic-style seats outside. Tacodeli also prides itself on its sustainable practices, such as using paper straws and offering fair trade sodas.
Good tacos with high quality protein. They are pricey and not that big, but they are packed with flavor and made perfectly. I had a triplet of a scallop, shrimp, and pork belly taco. The seafood tacos were good but the pork belly was something else. Worth the price to try and to treat yourself once and awhile. They have daily specials as well, which is how I got the scallop taco. The seating indoor was very limited, but some outdoor seating and a small pavilion on the other side of the parking lot. Good taco spot overall, nothing over the top but still left satisfied.

My husband and I stopped by Tacodeli for the first time, and we were both really impressed! The food was fresh, flavorful, and the tacos we tried had something special about it. We really enjoyed the variety on the menu and how well the flavors came together. It’s clear that quality ingredients and care go into the food here. The only small thing we noticed was that the flour tortillas could be cooked just a little more. It’s minor compared to how good everything else was. Overall, our first impression was excellent.

Wow! Taco Deli this location is superb! Eric especially is very attentive and kind enough to serve us with all our “too many” questions and inquiries! We loved the place and Eric’s treatment too. 5 star! Sunday mornings for sure coming back.

A very refreshing taste in the Taco arena. I ordered FRONTERA FUNDIDO SIRLOIN tacos. The beef was tender and full of flavor. I tried three of the four salsa toppings with a side of chips and queso I liked how the chips were served in a clear, sealed bag. The atmosphere was very inviting, and clean. A variety of seating options including patio, bar style, and tables. The employees were friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend Fit or your Taco Tuesdays, Cinco de Mayo, and any other time you crave a deliriously different Taco

First time eating here, asked for potatoes on my breakfast taco… cashier should’ve told me it was going to be potato mush sauce instead of standard fried diced breakfast potatoes because i got a mush taco for $5.50 including a $2 slice of avocado. Not worth it, very disappointed.

Wow! These tacos were great! And the service here was amazing. We had a large team visit and they accommodated us and all our requests. I did a “make your own” taco for both of mine and I really enjoyed them. The egg and avocado tasted fresh, bacon was crispy, and pico delicious. Thank you! Everyone else echoed a similar sentiment in enjoying their tacos. Weather was also beautiful in the morning so we sat outside. They have a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. If you visit, I hope you enjoy as much as we did!

Eldorado Cafe is a vibrant Mexican eatery that offers a variety of traditional dishes and innovative cocktails. Founded on the principles of family and community, the restaurant prioritizes parent-friendliness, providing a waiting area with toys and books for children. The diverse menu caters to various dietary needs, including vegan and gluten-free options. The kids' menu features grilled chicken and Tex-Mex finger foods like tacos and quesadillas.
An excellent Mexican cuisine with plenty of options for vegetarian and vegan folks. Right from the get go of their chips and salsa sampler to every dish we ordered was so yummy and plentiful. This is an excellent place for anyone who loves Mexican food. A very simple ambience nothing to mention, but the service is awesome and great many people that care and serve you. They patiently answered our questions, made very good suggestions and the result is we all loved 😍 the food.

On the recommendation of friends we gave ElDorado Cafe a try. Be prepared for a wait. We waited outside and enjoyed chips, salsa and beverages. Once seated our waiter promptly took our drink & food order. We ordered Dart Bowl enchiladas and Rene's Awesome enchiladas. Both were good. Sadly the Sopapilla Cheesecake was sold out. The restaurant is small, is nice and has an Austin electic vibe. The staff were nice and attentive. There is first come bar seating. Overall good food, good service, but a long wait (we were a party of 2, waited over an hour and a half for a table). Their site does have a reserve a table option. If you have the time, are craving some solid Mexican food, and good adult or mocktail beverages give them a try.

Eldorado Café never disappoints — the food is absolutely delicious every single time! From their flavorful dishes to their warm, welcoming atmosphere, you can tell they put heart into everything they do. Even more impressive than their tasty food is their generosity. For two years in a row, Eldorado Café has given back to Padron Elementary School, supporting our students and staff in such a meaningful way. It’s amazing to see a local restaurant that not only serves great meals but also invests in its community. Thank you, Eldorado Café, for filling our bellies and our hearts! 💛🌮

Definitely a twist on your average Mexican food restaurant. The salsa sampler is pretty cool but half of them were too spicy to enjoy unfortunately, and I usually ike the heat. The margaritas are fabulous. Best queso in town. Didn’t expect ribs or potatoes bites for appetizers but they were delicious. Also, definitely recommend the chocolate mousse.

Found my place nearby for good Mexican food. Went in for breakfast this morning and sat at the bar. Joaquin was a great bartender. I had a nice drink called "purple people eater" its an Empress Gin based cocktail with blackberry juice among other things ... it was so good I had to have a second one! The migas was delicious had a bit of queso and white cheese on top. It was served with black beans and papas. Their papas has regular and sweet potatoes and is really good. I will definitely go back soon.

Very chill vibe. Authentic Tex mex. Drinks are average but food is good. Nice place to hang out with friends. The service is nice and the servers are very friendly. They make sure that the guests are comfortable and the orders are served as fast as possible. Interiors are nice and has a very Texan country vibe. They also have a few tables outside where you can wait and order drinks to start with. Overall this is a nice restaurant. This was my third time here.

I recently visited ElDorado and was immediately impressed even before I took my first bite. The place was buzzing with energy, and although I was told there’d be a 25 minute wait, I lucked out and was seated in just 10. That kind of start already set the tone for a great experience. The atmosphere? Relaxed, welcoming, and just the right kind of lively. It’s the kind of spot where you can kick back and enjoy good food without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Now let’s talk tacos. I ordered four different kinds, and every single one was a hit. But if you go, do yourself a favor and get Matt’s Everything Taco. It’s a flavor packed powerhouse fried egg, sausage, bacon, potato, hash, queso, jack cheese… it’s like breakfast and comfort food had a delicious baby. Honestly, it was one of the best tacos I’ve ever had. The coffee was smooth and satisfying, rounding out the meal perfectly. And shoutout to our waiter friendly, knowledgeable, and quick with the service. He helped us navigate the menu and made sure everything ran smoothly. If you’re in the area and craving bold flavors with a laid back vibe, ElDorado is a must visit. I’ll definitely be back.

We visited for dinner as a party of 3 (2 adults and a toddler). For drinks we got the Purple People Eater (cocktail) and La Loma Lindo (mocktail). Both we very basic and pretty disappointing tbh, there was barely any alcohol in it. We also got the Shiny Ribs and Papas Rellenas for appetizers. Both were extremely good and I highly recommend it. We went on a Saturday so I got the Barbacoa Taco (deal of the day?), Thunder Rosa Taco, Too Hot to Tot (veg taco) and Grilled Chicken (kids meal). For dessert we got the chocolate pistachio Bundt Cake. Overall, our food was excellent and service was great.! Drinks were disappointing tbh. Upon seating, we got served a basket of chips, and we ordered guacamole with it, it was a bit spicy and perfect!

Fonda San Miguel is a renowned restaurant that has been influential in shaping the perception of Mexican cuisine in the United States since its establishment in 1975. The colorful hacienda-style space offers a sophisticated interpretation of traditional Mexican dishes. With consulting from Diana Kennedy, it has played a crucial role in defining interior Mexican food both locally and nationally.
We went here for a birthday dinner and had a great dining experience. As a vegetarian, I wasn’t blown away by the limited vegetarian/vegan options on the menu, but the great service was what made it a 5⭐️ meal. The ambience was lovely, right from the entry doorway, to the antechamber and the main dining spaces (we sat in the central space, but there were two other spaces as well). The menu is quite pricy, however it was great to see that reflected in the service as well - our server (Jennifer?) was attentive and polite, and also packed up our food for us after the meal. For drinks we got margaritas - one with lemon and another with watermelon: both tasted great (we’re also quite potent). The queso fundido was melty and delicious - served with corn and flour mini tortillas, the corn tortillas were very good. The sweet potato was actually the best tasting item (we ordered it based on an Instagram reel): perfectly steamed and pan fried. The chipotle shrimp dish was good. The vegetable enchiladas were also decent but nothing great. As it was a birthday meal, the très leches we ordered came with a greeting (not complimentary though) - it was great with mango and mint. It was served with a mango sorbet with granita which was a little strange in its flavor. Overall this was a great restaurant for a special dinner.

Love this place! The art and paintings all around are just spectacular, it really feels like stepping into Mexico — almost like being in San Miguel de Allende. The service was excellent and the food was good as well. The only downside was that the bar closed without us being told. It would have been nice if our server had let us know and given us a last call, because when I asked for another margarita I was told the bar was already closed. Maybe just a reminder for the staff to announce when the kitchen or bar is about to close would make the experience even better.
Ana F — Google review
Food was great! Service was mediocre. Felt pushy to order specific things. We went on our wedding anniversary and it didn't feel special. No one mentioned it from the reception to the server. Not asking for much but to pick somewhere to celebrate our special occasion, specify it on our reservation, and not even get an acknowledgement is pretty sad. Not asking much. We spent almost $200 total on 2 drinks, 1 appetizer, and 2 entrees. I ate here with my friends before for her moving away and you all acknowledged and celebrated when we dined in. Parking here is limited and spills onto neighborhood street parking.
Michelle K — Google review
Awesome atmosphere, great service including free valet parking. The margaritas are STRONG! Food is super flavorful and the tortillas are all made fresh in house. We loved the entire meal and highly recommend. Just don’t eat lunch so you can have proper space for all the heavy Mexican food.
Brennan R — Google review
What a wonderful meal on so many levels! The wagu beed al carbon tacos melt in your mouth. The cauliflower tacos were as delicious as they were beautiful. The trees leches came with a scoop of mango sorbet. Then the ambiance was every bit as good as the food. My wife declared this restaurant as our new celebration restaurant.
John S — Google review
Atmosphere here was fantastic! Love the location and how everything flowed. The food was very tasty. We had Camarones, tostadas appetizers, al pastor tacos, and a classic marg! The camarones was quite large — lots of food to soak up. Slightly spicy but very tasty. The tostadas were amazing — loved these so much and the variety was perfect to get a taste of everything. The Al pastor was also good. Smaller in size but so tasty. My biggest critique was how the waiter we had was honestly a bit unprofessional, seemed rushed and that was inconvenienced him. Not a fan of being rushed during an expensive dinner. The price point for the dishes also did not match up. $30 for 3 pastor tacos? That is crazy. This is something I encourage people to review. The food is tasty but doesn’t live up to the price point.
Matthew P — Google review
Came here with a friend for dinner and had a very pleasant experience. All of the food was delicious and portions were just right. I ended up having a small bone in my chicken and had to return my dish but the waitstaff were extremely courteous about it and handled the situation great. The suiza sauce and tres leches really stood out for me and my friend enjoyed her tostadas as well!

I really love eating this place when I visit Austin, but tonight I had to do a pick up order. The fish was delicious but you cannot forget to debone a fish before serving. It could really hurt somebody. But for me I just ate my fish while carefully fishing shards of bone from my mouth in between chews. Very disappointing for a restaurant at this price point.

Torchy's Tacos is a popular Mexican street-food-style taco chain known for its inventive and diverse taco offerings, including breakfast options. Customers praise the friendly and knowledgeable staff who provide excellent service. The hand-made corn tortillas and crispy fried shrimp tacos are particularly recommended. While some have noted occasional issues with customer service, others appreciate the consistent quality of the food, especially the flavorful salsas.
Just made an order from here its very good!! I've already had two tacos!! I love the chorizo is like my favorite food and very good with eggs!! Excited about my other order!! Chips are also very good!! Very pleased!!! I don't always come down here but they have many good places!! I live way more north!! They installed these new kiosks to order. So not only does it feel way less personable but the ordering system is extremely buggy, so it takes 2x longer to place an order. Torchy’s has never had the best food but they were fun and local feeling. Now it feels impersonal and corporate. I can’t see the point, somebody help me understand why Torchy’s exists

Solid choice for fast food tacos. I ordered the democrat taco (barbacoa, avocado, cotija, onion, cilantro) and it was tasty. Chips and queso were good too. Food came out quickly after we ordered. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. There’s a secret menu online with a few extra options so make sure to check that out as well.

I visited this location for the first time the other day. I tried the Taco of the Month, which was The Ronin. It was very tasty. The wait wasn't too long. The restaurant was very clean and was nice and airy, with a lot of natural light, due to having many windows. Service was good. I ate indoors, but the outdoor patio looked really nice as well. Good place to grab a bite. 🌮

Curra's Grill Oltorf is a local favorite adorned with vibrant art, offering a variety of Mexican dishes and renowned for its avocado margaritas. The restaurant's founder, Jorge Garcia, hails from northern Mexico and introduced Austinites to the Yucatan specialty of cochinita pibil. The menu features classic Mexican flavors such as al pastor enchiladas, cochinita pibil, and steak tacos with Oaxacan coffee grounds.
Walked in and was pleasantly surprised how nicely decorated the interior was. The inside had a vibrant color and Mexican flair. We both ordered enchiladas of different types. One was Cancun Shrimp enchiladas and the other was Chicken mole enchiladas. Both came with our choice of beans and rice. When the plates arrived they both looked liked like art pieces and tasted really good. Was very pleased with this place overall and can definitely say will be back to try different dishes.

Curra’s never disappoints! Their authentic mole is rich, complex, and layered with flavor in a way only true Mexican kitchens can achieve. And of course, you can’t visit without trying their iconic aguacate margarita. So refreshing and dangerously smooth and delicious! By to mention, unlike anything else in Austin. Even on a packed night, the staff went above and beyond, offering me a drink while I waited for a table. Little gestures like that speak volumes about their ability hospitality and keep me coming back. If you want a place where the food is as memorable as the service, Curra’s is it.

We came into Curra's the Monday after Grand Prix weekend when all restaurants seems overbooked. We were seated immediately for a late lunch around 1-2pm. Staff were very fast and attentive and explained the menu for us. This was very different than what we're used to with California-Mexican food. The spice level is intense, but we really enjoyed the bright flavors as well. The dishes might have been a tad too spicy for us, and we have decent spice tolerance, but we'd come back just to try more of their menu. I ordered the patos en mole tacos, and my dad got the cochinita pixel, both so flavorful and satisfying. We would definitely come back.

Initially, the impression of this establishment was that it would offer a suitable dining experience with satisfactory service. I can confirm that the food was of high quality, with superb taste; however, there should be more generous portion sizes, and if a smaller portion is served, the price should reflect that. Regrettably, the coffee was tasteless and unappealing; I will not be purchasing coffee here again. The staff member serving us displayed a problematic attitude from the beginning, despite our being courteous and not difficult. For example, I requested another coffee due to a sugar stain; although I tried it with regular brown sugar, the taste remained unpleasant—indeed, gross. The server's attitude was unprofessional, characterized by eye-rolling and sighing, as if she were exhausted. At the end of our visit, when we requested separate tickets, she sighed again, implying difficulty in processing the bill. Additionally, she did not check if my companions wished to order more soda. I could have left a generous tip, but her attitude discouraged this. My companions mentioned that this was their first and last visit; they also noted that the waitress at Denny's on Oltorf was more genuine and pleasant. I attempted to contact the manager to report these issues; however, the representative who answered was unwilling to provide her name or the manager’s, and I informed them I would follow up via email.

Honestly, It deserves 0 stars. Maybe it’s because i’ve actually had better food before but this place is ridiculous. Please don’t waste your money. $3.50 for salsa…… really. 18$ for a small quesadilla huh this looks great but the taste was bland, it was all drowned by these ridiculous toppings and had no flavor. I love onions, but these ones were terrible. I need another meal after this one. I don’t think i’ll ever financially recover from this 80$ bill with two entrees and two alcoholic beverages. Ridiculous. Please please please go somewhere else and don’t make the same mistake i did. I’ve had far better tasting tacos and quesadillas elsewhere. I’m furious to say the least.

Don't let the card tables and plastic chairs fool you. This place is always packed because the food is always great. I do think the place is overpriced. You can get food that is just as tasty ar a couple other places in Austin for less. I hope it's pricier because they pay their waiters more? But that's the only theory I have.

I’ve lived in Austin for 35 years. I was born in Mexico. I’ve traveled all over Mexico. I know Tex-Mex well. I hadn’t been back to Polvos for over a decade. I guess because I live a little bit out of town and don’t venture to South Austin as much. My wife and I and a friend went last night and had a lovely time. The service could not have been any better. The food was very good. I had a chile relleno with beef pastor. I normally only eat them filled with cheese, but the way they recommended this and it was excellent. My wife burrito was very good. No, this is not a Michelin star restaurant. It is not on this weeks’ ist of the hottest trendiest restaurants that will be forgotten next week.Thank God. It makes me sad that such a wonderful place that is an excellent representation of the old Austin would take grief from silly reviewers.

The brisket is good, perhaps a bit dry, but well flavoured. Still one of the better briskets I tried. If you are around the area definitely hit this spot up. Definitely worth the trip! They open quite early at 7:30 am so perfect for breakfast too! Super recommended!

I don’t think I can say say enough great things about this place in one review. I have wanted to come to Valentina’s for years now. I heard so many great things about the food and the staff that I knew it was a must hit on my stop in Austin. They have one of the best briskets that I have ever had if not the best. They didn’t disappoint in any way. The food was better then I ever thought it could be and the flavors that there crew and pitmaster make are nothing short of incredible. It truly is Tex Mex Art that they making. Thank you so much to Everyone at Valentines for making our visit so amazing and we can’t wait to go back. If you could only make one stop in all of Texas this should be it.

The wait wasn't too bad on a Thursday mid-morning, about 25 minutes, they had a variety of selections, mains and sides, friendly service and really good pork short ribs, brisket and carnitas. Their tacos are a really good size and they have multiple size selections for their sides/appetizers. Their chips are really good, hearty enough to hold their delicious queso, ensure you get the extra brisket! The flour tortillas they use for their tacos as well as the Buns for their sandwiches are so soft!

This place single handedly changed my opinion of Tex Mex food. Get here as soon as they open because the line to order and wait after ordering can be 2+ hours long! It’s worth the wait. I would recommend looking at their daily menu for their unique menu items of the day and getting a classic brisket tacos. The sides are great as well, highly recommended the corn.

This is a brand new build, building and area are beautiful. I'm not from Austin . Valentine's was a recommendation for breakfast tacos Everything was homemade from the tortilla to the slice of brisket. I ordered "The Real Deal Holyfield." it was a little pricey, especially if you're from the Houston area, where we pay $1.99 for a breakfast taco. But let me tell you, I'd pay it again it was that good. Try it and let me know what you think, I'll be waiting for your feedback.

We arrived for lunch and found ample parking available. A line had already formed, but it only took about 10 to fifteen minutes before we ordered. It was a nice day, and we sat in a small covered outdoor area, but there's also indoor seating. This was my first time here, and it didn't disappoint. All three of my holy trinity items (brisket, pork rib, and sausage link) were worth the drive! The brisket taco, "Hollywood Style", was excellent as well! When picking your sides, be sure to include the chips and queso!

I wanted to love this BBQ but I left only liking it a lot. I see why it's praised. The brisket is rich, the ribs are sweet and savory, and the chicken retains it's juicyness. However, the brisket was somewhat dry, the ribs lacked texture, and the chicken tasted like chicken. The tacos are all very good, but I don't see what the fuss is about. Very good is not great, and there are many very good tacos in Texas. I plan to return for breakfast options because I'm excited to fully explore their menu. I left without a favorite because nothing stood out. At the level of BBQ Valentina's aims for, more thoughtful critique is necessary. So, it's very good BBQ, but this isn't a show stopper yet. As of this review on 8/11/22, only the food truck is taking orders and there's limited shade against the sun while waiting in line.
Michael B — Google review
Valentina's did not disappoint! All the food was delicious, nothing to complain about! The ribs were perfectly smoked, the brisket on the Brisket Taco melted like butter, the Roasted Corn and Charro Beans were good as well! You should definitely give this place a try if you are in the Austin area! 👍🏽 To boot the staff were all very friendly and helpful! Feels good to be greeted by cheerful people!

Mi Madre's Restaurant is a beloved Tex-Mex eatery in Austin, serving up fresh, housemade food since 1990. What began as a small taco joint has expanded into a spacious dining area and patio, welcoming locals and visitors alike. The menu features popular breakfast tacos, including the #9 with homemade machacado and eggs, as well as the #4 with black bean, egg, and cheese.
We celebrated National Margarita Day here which was an excellent decision. Margarita flights say whaaaaat yes I will have one! And guess what, they were delicious! These were like 3 incredible and unique margaritas - we had watermelon, spicy cucumber and sangria. The sangria was a frozen with a cinnamon swirl. They were simply delightful. Their skinny margaritas were also good. Food was also consumed, thank goodness. Their veggie burrito and cheese enchilada were very tasty. I loved their big bubbly chips and salsa with guacamole. Our server was very entertaining and was always checking on us. We had a great time here and will definitely be back.

This is our go to restaurant for Mexican food when we are in Austin. The food, service, and atmosphere are always top notch!! The food is always delicious! Love brunch! Their chips & salsa are so good. Different from other Mexican restaurants. Love huevo rancheros which comes with carne guisada meat. So good and tender, best flavor. Love over easy eggs. Their flour tortillas are delicious too!! My husband had a yummy breakfast taco with eggs, bacon, cheese, and potatoes. So good. Their top shelf margaritas are delicious, on the rocks or frozen with floater on top!! The service is excellent, our server Faith, always takes the best care of us!! Love Donald too! Best GM! He always stops to chat with us. We always come back!! 😊😊

I visited Mi Madres in Austin after hearing a lot of hype about their breakfast burrito, but I was underwhelmed. The burrito tasted like something I could whip up at home—nothing special. What really threw me off, though, was the horchata. It tasted like a virgin piña colada, which totally missed the mark for what horchata is supposed to be. And then we noticed the menu listed the burrito at $13, but we were charged $14.50. Not a huge deal, but just added to the disappointment. With so many great spots in Austin, this one didn’t live up to the buzz for us.

Green sauce? Yes, please!! Had such a great experience here. They have indoor, patio and outdoor seating available (with a dog patio, of course) We came here for the breakfast tacos, which they have a great selection of and we were pleased with our selections. Had us a nice cup of Joe, too. You do have to pay for the chips and salsa, but we were okay with that. The chips come with a red sauce but be sure to ask for the green sauce! Gotta have green sauce with breakfast tacos or you’re just plain crazy. Overall great vibes and great food, give it a try.

There's something special here. The server helped us narrow down our choices, making superb recommendations. Everything was divine, but especially the spiced coffee. I was offered coffee to go after we paid, the sure way to win me over. Thanks for such a stunning breakfast experience!

A lovely local spot nestled in East Austin. Plenty of outdoor seating and indoor seating depending on your preference. Prices are about average and the portions are appropriate. I'm not sure when they started charging for the chips and salsa but that's a little disappointing. Still worth it.

Trudy's Texas Star is a local Tex-Mex favorite with locations in North and South Austin, offering an extensive drink menu featuring fan-favorite margaritas. The Tex-Mex Rita is a popular choice for its classic taste. The restaurant also serves delicious Tex-Mex food that pairs well with their signature margaritas. Visitors can enjoy happy hour specials and weekend brunch at this Austin staple, known for its $5 Mexican Martini Mondays.
This place is great. The service was very fast and on point. The atmosphere was very fresh with an Austin feel to it. The outdoor seating was gorgeous. The happy hour drinks were cheap and delicious. I had the Mexican martini which was well worth the hype. The food selection was very thorough. All of the basic Mexican dishes, plus so much more. I had the chipotle wings. The wings were huge and delicious.

Really enjoyed lunch here. Super old building, reminded me of an old camp mess hall. Chips and salsa were on point, the queso did not disappoint and the main courses were delicious. Our server was really good and kept the refills coming. I would definitely go back.

I love this place. It's my go to whenever I'm in Austin. However, the last time we came we sat in the bar area by the patio. It took 15 minutes for someone to greet us, another 10 to get our drinks and about 20 minutes for the waitress to come back to take our order. It was just me and a girlfriend. Luckily we had plenty of time to wait. The food was good as always!

I LOVE coming here for brunch. The food is always amazing (FRENCH TOAST!!!) the service beats all other locations as well. I’ll always come back.

What I learned on my first visit to Trudy’s. Avoid the queso/guac. It’s good, but you’ll gorge yourself on chips and dips. Stick to the main course because you’ll upset when you don’t finish your entree. I got the chicken fajita queso enchiladas, and that was a waste of time. The rice was bland, and the charro beans managed to be blander. Why did I give Trudy’s 4 stars for such a description? I nibbled off some of my buddy’s meal. He got the All American Breakfast with two eggs, ham, red potatoes, and pancakes. Perfect entree that I regret not ordering especially for the price! Maybe next time. Y’all have a good day!!

Trudy’s is the best, their menu has variety of options that each of them will surprise you. Haven’t been there for while but maybe more than 2 years but their quality is as same as it was. Can’t wait to go back there again.

We drove in from Waco and needed to get to a show by 8:00, so I called ahead and we were able to get added to their list so we wouldn’t have to wait when we got there. Very good considering it was a Saturday night! The service was good. I’m new to these reviews and regret that I forgot to take more pictures of our food, lol. But it was all good. Pictured are the stuffed and fried jalapeños. So tasty! Love the breading on the outside. They were big, too. They offer two types of salsa - a green and a red. Both delicious with just the right amount of heat! My enchiladas, rice, and beans were great. Love this location, super close to the UT campus and right there in the Hyde Park area. There are tons of great choices in Austin, but this is an old favorite so I love to visit when I can.

Pros: Open late, Texas Star Lemonade (Tito's Vodka, fresh squeezed lemonade and muddled mint) was delicious and large, and the hash browns served with the migas were very nicely browned, which is amazingly difficult for most other places to do, tho I have no idea why. Doesn't everyone love crunchy hash browns? Service was also good, we had a very attentive waiter. Cons: All the other food was pretty average. Not bad, just not anything worth going back for again.

Joann's Fine Foods is a vibrant diner and restaurant located in the hip South Congress neighborhood, offering a fresh take on classic American diner cuisine. The menu pays homage to retro diner culture and the laid-back vibe of a road trip vacation, featuring Tex-Mex and California-inspired dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. From daily house-made tortillas filled with barbacoa, beef picadillo, chicken tinga, grilled grouper, migas to avocado tacos, there's something for everyone.
Excellent place for an authentic diner like experience. Very very good mint pea gauc with lots of chips. My colleagues had sandwiches etc and all enjoyed them. Def worth a stop along the busy South Congress strip.

This was a very nice upscale restaurant to get great lunch right on South Congress. They have a good menu and everything was pretty tasty. Right next to the Austin Motel.

The food was excellent and our server was friendly, but we were told the wait would be 30 minutes and ended up waiting over an hour. That took away from the overall experience. Would consider returning, but hope the wait times are better managed.

The happy hour at Joann's Fine Foods is hard to beat! The food is delicious and the portions of the appetizers are plenty big for sharing. We got the hashbrown nachos and the shrimp aguachile (not included in the happy hour but definitely worth it), and both were spectacular! Joann's is perfect for a happy hour or get together with the girls and I will definitely be back for brunch sometime soon!

I absolutely loved this place on South Congress! I’ve been wanting to come here for quite some time, and I’m so happy my girlfriend and I finally got to enjoy a lovely brunch here for her birthday. I tried some Banana cocktail, which was surprisingly delicious, and our food was amazing. I had the tuna melt — the bread was perfectly toasted and sliced, and it came with a fresh side salad. My favorite part was definitely the salad dressing, which had this orange and ginger base that was absolutely delicious. The outdoor ambience was great too — it’s got this retro, cool, yet modern vibe that makes it such a fun spot to relax and enjoy a meal.

I got the chalupa and breakfast Sando. The chalupas surprisingly was more like a tostado. A deep fried corn tortilla underneath a bed of beans, chicken, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. The chicken was very very juicy and I think they may have used dark meat only. That being said, for $23 the portion was rather small of only two “chalupas” picture above, with no sides. The breakfast sandwich was good, but thing to write home about. What I will say though is that the side salad I had, you get the pick your dressing and I got the carrot vinaigrette. 5/5 for the dressing. It was a thicker dressing, almost like a dipping sauce consistency. Intense carrot flavor profile with a good tartness. You almost had to use ur fork to scoop some out and smear on the lettuce to eat it like a spread as opposed to a dressing. I really liked the taste and highly recommend the carrot vinaigrette.

I went to Joann's yesterday Sunday night, I knew their was going to be a wait because it was F1 weekend. However, when I arrived both hosts were very kind an greeted us very kindly. They gave us a 25 min wait estimate and we were seated exactly at 25 minutes. The overall service was great and the food spectacular!! I would recommend the fajitas! I would definitely recommend this place based on the service and food quality! I am telling all my friends and family!!!!!
Jazny B — Google review
I never post negative reviews so this is a first. Food and wait server were great but the person at the host/hostess stand and the person who seated us could not have been more unwelcoming and standoffish. We came in from out of the area specifically to dine there and nothing else (truth). Entire parking lot dedicated to restaurant patrons was coned off and when I asked if we could park there and that we already previewed the menu and would be quick to order, eat and leave (45 mins), we were told that it was coned off for an event later and that we would not be able to use it. We were not there for any other purpose (not the F1 or anything). That's fine, but when I asked when that event was starting or what it was, no one knew. By the time we left (45 mins later), the parking lot was still empty yet coned off. The person who seated us never smiled or welcomed us once. I knew we would be ordering several large and shared plates so I asked if we could have a 4-top (since the 2 tops were tiny bistro tables), we were told they were reserved for parties of 4. I did not push back on any of this, I only asked to better understand but the person who seated us was very annoyed at my question and treated me like I was an unwelcome patron, despite this being my first and eagerly anticipated time there. As expected, we ordered several large plates to share and nothing fit well on the tiny table. I placed some of the items on the bench seat next to me. We spent $85+ for 2 of us (inc a nice tip for the wait server who was very accommodating). I'll never go back even and I'll never recommend this place.

Tex-Mex restaurant
Country food restaurant
Texas Chili Parlor is a classic spot in Austin, serving up Tex-Mex and American cuisine along with a range of chili options from mild to XXX hot. The restaurant has been around since the 1970s, offering a kitschy setting where you can enjoy dishes like enchiladas covered with Texas-style chili. It's known for its affordable menu that features a variety of options, including the popular pork chop dinner for less than $15.
This is a must see and eat place in Austin. The food and service were excellent. We were greeted with smiles and seated quickly. Our waitress explained the menu and the top selections. The food came out quick and hot. The Texas chili is the best for you meat eaters. No beans, just meat. I personally had the lunch special which was an enchilada and a tamale both covered in a chili of your choice and served with rice and beans. My kids got a patty melt and a bacon cheeseburger and my wife got a cup of veggie chili. We destroyed it all and left happy and full. And all for under $50. The atmosphere was eccentric and felt like an old roadside chili bar. I loved it. It got packed by 12:00 with a lot of locals. They know what’s up! Don’t miss out on one good meal at an affordable price at the Texas Chili Parlor.

Bartender told me "good luck" when asking about service at the bar. I sat at a table instead. Food was very good. Very affordable so the value is there. I had the enchilada and steak plate with a sampling of the XX chili for dinner. The enchiladas were great. The steak wasn't the highest quality but it was seasoned and cooked well. The chili had large chunks of what seemed like chuck. Everything was very good. I went back for lunch and had the two taco plate and the cheese enchilada plate (they were that good the night before). The salsa with the chips and salsa was great. I could drink it. The taco shells would have been better if they had been heated up in an oven or something. The taco meat filling was really tasty. The enchilada plate was fantastic with the ranchero sauce. Service at the table was great both times.

You ever walk into a smallish looking dingy dungeon with glowing red lights? That's the ambience of the TCP and it's awesome. You walk into a different world of vintage signs, with a classic looking little bar on your left where you know the regulars sit daily. You're escorted to a table that's jammed among other tables in a rustic setting. And I absolutely love the vibe. The service is amazing and the atmosphere is to match. $25 ribeye steak with potato and salad is the perfect meal for a great price. The chili is spicy as is the waitresses. I would recommend using a bathroom before going into The TCP as you have to duck into the men's washroom through a 20 inch door and avoid the sink at the same time. The washroom is the size of a small closet. But that also adds to the vibe. We had amazing service with Crystal who threw in a couple bumper stickers and that was appreciated. Would definitely eat here again

This was on the list of things to do in Austin so when we went there I did not expect to be comforted by a mentally ill man sitting outside the restaurant as I walked in..This man stood in front of my wife blocking the entrance and then came in and spoke to us while we were seated. Not one word was said to this guy by anyone at this establishment!!! The food was okay but I like my Chili with more seasoning. The service was good because our server was real nice. I can say I went 👍🏾
Jason B — Google review
If you’re going to Austin, you definitely have to consider visiting this place. Like in every downtown, parking is tricky, but it’s worth it. The place has very Texan-style decor, the food is good, but the service from the waitresses is really bad—no interest in providing good service.

Texas Chili Parlor is an iconic place to visit. It's famous for its chili, and they offer many different combos and sizes. The prices are reasonable, and the Tex-Mex dishes are also delicious. I had the sausage chili, which was yummy, although it was a bit salty.

6 adults (ages 38-50) visiting from Florida walked in mid afternoon on a Saturday. Place was about half full, decent lunch crowd and lots of open tables. Bartender informed us to seat ourselves. Found two 4-top tables next to bar and proceeded to slide them together so we could sit together (and, seat ourselves). As the tables were almost slid together an older white man who I am assuming owns the place came and aggressively pulls the tables apart rudely saying “I don’t come to your house and start moving furniture around” and mentions we can’t put tables together because of fire code. No, there would’ve been absolutely no obstruction of path to an exit. We don’t run a business or sell a service from our house. We weren’t drunk. We weren’t unruly college students who I am sure they deal with all the time. Just pulling tables together like I’ve seen done in thousands of restaurants. Zero hospitality whatsoever. Menu looked good, too, but I wasn’t about to give that man one dime so my wife and I had waters while others had a drink or two before we went to spend our money elsewhere. This experience motivated me to write my first ever negative online review and that’s saying something. My career is in hospitality, too, so I am more than empathetic to what restaurant owners have to manage and the stress that comes with it. Hospitality industry isn’t for everyone.

I'll try not to make this long. I LOVED it here. From the moment i was greeted at the host stand to the moment i walked out: the hostesses were super sweet and friendly, our server Nate was very quick and helpful. I'm asking for him next time. We had the trio appetizer with queso, bean dip and guac, my favorite was the queso. You can tell they put some work into it. The chips and salsa were fresh and spicy, which is very important to me. I got the poblando enchiladas; they were okay, but i enjoyed it! The sauce was not my favorite but the chicken was so flavorful and not dry! Omg the rice and beans were GOOD! FINALLY, some good rice in a tex mex restaurant!! My boyfriend got the tamales with queso and carne on top... O.M.G. DELICIOUS. So fresh and amazing. I also got a fresh lemonade: DELICIOUS as well. I kept watering it down with water so i just had lemonade all night! I wish i couldve tried dessert but I couldn't even finish my plate. Almost everything tasted like it was fresh and made with love. Also the environment was fantastic because the workers actually looked happy to work together, help eachother and interact! The manager was very hands on on the expo line (where the plates come out), which is very nice to see; i love to see team work in a restaurant, AS EVERY RESTAURANT SHOULD. Finally, a good tex mex restaurant in Austin. (Im from Houston) Definitely coming back 🩷 Okay i guess i made this a bit long, lol.

This a perfect spot if you want a good meal at a great price! We went here after a hike nearby and couldn’t have been happier. Getting chips and salsa right away is a big plus ALL day breakfast is a huge Win in my book. Some places close breakfast so early it’s a crime. Especially for people that don’t eat breakfast when they first wake up, I usually wait a few hours before eating Sausage Migas plate was perfectly cooked, and we also got the pancake platter. The pancakes had a vanilla flavor to them, very good Parking was easy Sunday afternoon, but I can see it being challenging if too busy

They dont mention that fajitas for one does not come on a hot plate, only if you order for 2 or more. My boyfriend barely touched his food and the server didnt bother to take it off our tab even though he literally had 3 bites and decided he didnt want it so we had to pay for food that was barely even touched. The employees were yelling at each other and being aggressive and rude which was not nice to watch and extremely unprofessional. Server had a bad attitude, she seemed annoyed and like she didnt care. Food wasn't that great. Server didnt mention that the jalapenos and sour cream I asked for are a dollar each which seemed like quite the upcharge for such simple things. Queso was so thick and plastic like, maybe its made out of velveeta. Bathroom was so disgusting. Definitely do NOT recommend. There are way better restaurants with better service and food.

Maudie’s is a well known consistent eatery that is a staple of all the folks in the Tarrytown area of Austin. They not only have fantastic Tex-Mex standards such as tacos, migas, fajitas and enchiladas, but they also make a nice burger and fries. The inside decor is very nice with a wall of backlit tequila bottles and local art by Tim Sabo. Speaking of tequila, I have never been disappointed by a margarita here. The sidewalk patio dining is also a very pleasant atmosphere. My go-to dishes are the Sausage Migas or the Enchilada’s Josie style, I recommend going with one cheese and one ground beef. This is place is almost alway busy during the main dining hours so go at odd hours if you wish to avoid the crowd and any extended wait times. I could eat here several days a week and be perfectly happy. Good food and good people too. The wait staff and management are extremely friendly, check this place out next time you are in the central/west Austin area. There was even one day last week I went to Maudie’s Cafe twice in one day!

Located in the Domain area of Austin, it offers a great vibe and quick service. Customers can expect delicious food with customizable options such as choosing different tortillas for each taco. The exceptional service provided by the staff members adds to the overall experience.
Everything was hand made. The flavors really pop here! The staff was ultra-friendly, professional, and attentive. I had brisket and steak tacos in a combo that came with a side of fried rice, sauce, chips, and drink. Don’t skip the red velvet cake. I normally dislike red velvet cake, this red velvet cake was rich, flavorful, and so satisfying. Prices are very reasonable. It was busy at 5PM and the mildly loud chatter and atmosphere made it obvious that local folks love this place.

Always a bustling lively place. A good place to hang out with friends. The margaritas are good, but strong. The food is very good. Everything on the menu is at least somewhat spicy tho. The next time im there i will be asking if there is a way to get a non spicy version of their food. i expect im in the minority here, but i think the chicken and waffle taco would be just a little better without being spicy. i really enjoy there weekend hours.

He went above and beyond with his customer service — not just taking my order, but making me feel like a valued guest. His personality shines through, and he truly brings life and energy to the store. Velvet Taco is lucky to have someone like Enrique on their team — he deserves all the props!

Delicious indian-mexican fusion food. I had tikka chicken & mexi shrimp tacos. I love this plqce. Food is great and a fair price point. LG Rocks Rita with an added grand mariner floater was strong and tasty. Best part is the server Javier. He was kind and patient as i explored the menu and answered all my questions. He then followed up with me when he was clearing the outside patio. Very polite and respectful.

Tacos were great as always. We love the chicken tikka tacos, paneer and tofu tacos. They have introduced bowls which is great ! Ambience is nice. Also you have to pick your order yourself.

here is what you need to know before coming to this location I now understand over the years the balance of the good and bad reviews for this location and how they differ and let me explain as I at one point thought I had left a review for this location but I'm now going to use this opportunity to redo a proper review up-to-date First off the restrooms are unlike anything you will ever see that you design is unique and different that they have a sink area through to the back that is all by itself it's own design and what you have is people from the kitchen constantly coming there to wash their hands as well as people coming in and out of the restrooms thus with only one trash can really hear from washing hands then I could tell at any point of time this area could get disgusting then you have like two stalls for on one side and two stalls for the other and they're not really a sign for men or women they're just again restroom stalls you open the door in a random close And keep in mind these location is open ridiculous late hours and long shifts so I could see how this area could end up getting neglected depending on especially if they are getting slammed or the employees are just wasted after a long day also I don't hold it against the manager who have had conversations with in the past and then came to realize oh wait a second there's rotating managers because this location has such ridiculous long hours especially on Thursday to 1:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday till 4:00 a.m. keep in mind they open between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. each day and although they don't do breakfast they have a large rotating staff quality control is going to just take a hit no matter how you do this to be able to handle the kind of volume this location gets so I commend them on when I arrived to my mom the place was spotless clean they were keeping up with the steady flow of traffic coming in and we were able to get our order fixed and let me explain I got an email promoting the $25 special so I downloaded the app and set it up and put in the order and paid an advance it would be ready for pickup from my mom and I to eat there but when I did substitution for what I thought was just a substitute to Pico corn when I didn't realize it was diet substituted the meat for roasted vegetables so when I handed back the order and showed how I ordered and have any meat on either bowl they helped me understand and go through the app and quickly just made a correction and added meat to both bowls at no additional cost again what I got was that the customer service here and a manager or not necessarily disconnected from customer service they're just exhausted and run long hours long work hours ridiculously long work hours and that would grind on just about any person that especially pending on how they're all just rotating different positions taking orders getting orders cutting corn cutting fresh corn again let me make note that you do fresh cut corn like they will constantly having somebody cutting the corn fresh off the cob that being said your mileage here is always going to vary as they have tacos of various flavors across the board but right now the best bang for the buck is their $25 special after 5:00 p.m. where you can get two balls chips your choice of queso or guacamole and by the way they served us generous portions of guacamole which I appreciated especially with how hard it is these days to find guacamole is not like two or $3 for small portions And of course with this place is famous for velvet cake a slice of velvet cake which was delicious didn't care for a caramel but I will definitely say I became a fan of their velveteen hot sauce now here's the next thing I'm going to want everyone here because they have a rotating staff is constantly exhausted burnt out worked hard rotated and long hours your mileage of regards to being able to ask anybody there at the front what comes in each thing is always going to vary keep in mind people that complain about the spices yeah both of their sauces are spicy so keep that in mind

Awesome spot, a little busy but thats fair for a good location. As we waited in line they deployed a second cashier and another employee who took our order on a device. The menu was clearly displayed on the outside and inside of the business which made it friendly as a first time customer who has no idea what they want. The taps were down which was a bummer understandable but still a bummer for a cold beer, food more than made up for it tho. Full sized tacos each authentically true to their description and pallet. Hot sauce was insanely good, we grabbed the hotter bottle and I wish I knew what it was. The elote side was different than back home but incredible, it comes as a dip with chips and was delicious. We got almost everything and had no disappointment. Fried chicken tacos covered in sauce were a little mushy but that's kinda par for the course. Brisket taco was the best but seriously didnt have anything that missed the mark. Would absolutely recommend and I hope I get to come back.

I had a delightful Happy Hour at Velvet Taco. Both the indoor and outdoor seating areas provided a relaxing and clean atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious and featured many creative flavors. I highly recommend the Kobe Smash Burger Taco – it was an incredible taco-burger experience! The Margaritas were also incredibly refreshing. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.

Mexican restaurant
Restaurant
Grizzelda's is a charming and stylish restaurant that offers a diverse selection of central and coastal Mexican cuisine. The establishment was born from a culinary exploration trip through Tulum and Mexico City, which inspired the beachy and artistic ambiance. The interior, designed by the owners, exudes a relaxed coastal vibe with palm frond wallpaper, Mexican tapestries, and vibrant pink margaritas.
Grizzeldas has a really nice atmosphere. The place is really nice to look at! The food was pretty good! Their green salsa that comes with the chips is really good! It's not super spicy but spicy enough that you don't want to stop eating it. Our server was nice and friendly, the music was a little loud that it was a bit hard to hear, but other than that, it was a great experience!
Leti — Google review
The place was cute, got parking immediately. The drinks were okay. I would say $28 for 3 palm sized fish tacos were extreme. The fish was fried almost to a crisp. You could barely taste the cod. The tacos itself were bland. Service was great, our waitress was on top of it. The kicker was the wellness charge of $3 per person. We asked what it was and the waitress said it helps pay the health insurance of the workers? If you don’t want it, you have to ask for it to be removed. This was on top of paying the set gratuity of 20% for our table of 6. I wondered if the employer should pay for this instead of automatically adding it to every check and hoping people don’t catch it.
Carol D — Google review
The food was good, drinks were even better. Our server was sweet and on point. We did not make any reservations and were seated outside in the back. It was a pretty humid night but they had fans in the back so it helped a little. It did make it hard to hear your dinner party with the fans on. Big fan of chips and salsa and I loved their homemade chips, the green sauce was the best in my opinion. The next time I'm in Austin, I will be sure to come back for another round ☺️
Delesha K — Google review
Absolutely loved Grizzeldas. The spicy margarita is amazing and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. My friends had fajitas and went crazy for them. Look at the cheese. I did the steak tacos and everything was packed with flavor. Absolutely recommend going here.

This place wasn’t it. We made reservations and sat inside. The customer service was kind and fast — honestly, no complaints there. The food, on the other hand, was below average and lacked flavor. I ordered the chicken and waffles, which the staff described as a churro-batter waffle with crunchy, single-battered chicken tenders and caramelized pecans. Unfortunately, none of that held true. The waffle was so bland that I couldn’t even tell it was supposed to be “churro.” The chicken wasn’t crunchy — it tasted more like a reheated chicken strip covered in fluffy batter, leaving behind an unpleasant fried film. And don’t get me started on the pecans. The menu promised caramelized pecans, but what I got were plain, dry pecans that seemed straight from the bottom of a bag. Not one ounce of caramelization in sight. On the brighter side, my friend ordered the strawberry French toast. It was tasty — a little too sweet for me personally, but enjoyable overall. If you’re not into super sweet or soggy toast, I’d recommend asking for the sauce on the side. Customer Service: 9/10 Food: 4/10 Price: 6/10 Overall, I paid $30 for them not only to play in my face but also to pay for their staff’s insurance (I’m not kidding — there’s a charge for that). I would NOT come here again willingly.

We were looking for a restaurant with gluten-free options not far from the Austin airport on a Friday night. Grizzelda's was able to take us as walk ins and seated us at the bar. The food was excellent and the service was just as good. The atmosphere was bar like, which was perfectly fine with us. Our bartender also served as our server and she was outstanding, friendly, and efficient.

We tried Grizzelda’s for the first time and it is the real deal. Food is fantastic and the atmosphere is casual yet comfortable. Several large groups were easily accommodated. Steak fajitas were top notch. Good choice of tequilas. Will definitely return here often.

Good service, mediocre food with overpriced small portions. The only thing good thing was the chips and queso. We ordered quesadillas and enchiladas, both lacked flavor.

Kerbey Lane Cafe - University is a local favorite in Austin, with a rich history dating back to its opening in 1980. Founded by Patricia Atkinson and David Ayer, the cafe has expanded to multiple locations across the city. Known for its commitment to locally sourced, healthy food at reasonable prices, Kerbey Lane offers an extensive menu that includes their famous Cowboy Queso and gourmet pancake mixes available for purchase.
Had a great, delicious time here! We started with the fried green tomatoes, which were amazing—I’ve always wanted to try them. I had the breakfast tacos (scrambled tofu, vegan chorizo and cheese), and they were really, really nice. Good portion for the price, super tasty. It came with a sauce (didn’t try the sauce - not really a sauce person) My friend had the avocado toast, and she really liked it. Portion was just right for her too. We also had a lemonade (a bit too sweet for us) and two coffees, and they gave us refills (We’re not used to refills, so we always enjoy that in the U.S.) The place was big, the crowd was friendly, the person who served us was great. Definitely recommend!

Can't go wrong with a Kirby Lane breakfast for the family! they always have fun pancakes this time my husband got the pancake stack and the top one was peach cobbler. The one in the middle is blueberry and then buttermilk at the bottom. They are huge and yummy. The last time we ate there my daughter had a strawberry lemonade, pancake, and she thought it was the greatest thing on earth. we also ate the Florence, which is fresh, avocado, and tomato and bacon on a English muffin with queso!!!!!! So good! I tried the pomegranate, pineapple mimosas and a bloody Mary and it was all yummy. Great service.

Kerbey Lane is for those individuals that like experiments from the kitchen. I would describe it as a great restaurant with super healthy choices. I have NEVER ordered brussel sprouts but I was quite delighted how well they prepared them there. I ordered a Denver omelet and my boyfriend ordered the chilaquiles gringo style. I promise they were great as well.

Great service from the moment we walked out the door. As the DD, my friend needed a little extra care to get food into her. Our server, I'm so sorry I didn't get your name, was very attentive and helped ensure my friend was feeding quickly and before anyone else. Thank you so much for your attention to detail. Food was pretty good and I wasn't disappointed. It was ideal for the slightly Inebriated friend who needed food fast. The icing on the cake, my friend left her phone in the booth and they kept it safe for two days until she could get back down south. Thank you so much. 🙌🏻

This place was a good hang out place for my friend, my boyfriend and I. They had great service, a cute space with comfortable seating. The food was also good! A few things I noticed was apon walking in I had trouble getting around with my mobility aid. A few parts of the restraint like near the bar and towards the back of the restaurant are a little difficult to navigate if you have a cane or wheelchair. The best place to get around is the Isle in the middle of the restaurant but it may be a little difficult to get to other seating. The other thing we noticed was little black specks in my friends water. We notified the waiter we had and she quickly changed it out and apologized. overall it was a decent experience and definitely a good place to chill for brunch.

Taco restaurant
De Nada Cantina is a casual Mexican eatery located on East Cesar Chavez. The cozy locale offers traditional Mexican dishes like barbacoa and carnitas, all served on housemade blue corn tortillas. The highlight of the place is the El Chingon margarita, made with El Tesoro Silver Tequila and Mathilde XO. The colorful patio with cafe tables and string lights creates a relaxed atmosphere perfect for sipping cold drinks.
The minute we landed in Austin I began searching for the best taco I could find. Being a review person, I found some spots that had so-so feedback and nothing really caught my attention. Well thats when I came across De Nada. "You are Welcome" was this an arrogant preemptive display of we know you'll be thanking us when its over or was this a simple warm greeting? Turns out it was both. As we pulled up the parking was a bit tricky but seeing the active parking lot and copious amount of people in and around the building, we knew we had stumbled upon exactly what we were looking for. We didn't have a reservation (definitely make one if you plan to stop in) and got lucky enough to slide in on the last available table inside. Our server was pleasant and present which made my party of 4 feel welcomed right away. We had chips and sauces for an appetizer and a variety of tacos to boot. Paired with some delicious but expensive drinks and this was everything we had hoped it would be. I would suggest making a reservation and limiting the drinks if you are on a budget but make this one a must try.

Food is 4-5 star quality. Drinks are solid. Service needs work. Epic greenhouse vibe, vibrant colors, authentic Mexican energy from someone who knows what authentic looks like. That sick bar area? Pure eye candy. Here's the problem: every single person working here acted like hospitality was a foreign concept. Hostess, server, food runners - zero energy, zero care. Had to flag down our waiter multiple times just to get water. Asking for more drinks felt like I was personally ruining their day. The space is gorgeous. The food delivers. The drinks work. But when your staff treats customers like a burden, you've got a fundamental problem. This place could be incredible if management actually trained people to give a damn about service. Will probably just Uber Eats next time. Get the good food without the attitude. Fix your service and this becomes a 5-star spot. Until then, you're wasting an amazing space and great kitchen.

The food was so delicious. The Margs are as everyone says they are if you can’t tell by the typing. And the food is so good. My husband tried flan for the first time and LOVED it. He compared it to eating a caramel apple in taste but different texture. TLDR: 10/10 will come again

Fresa's - 9th & Lamar is a popular spot in Austin known for its wood-grilled chicken, modern Mexican cuisine, and delicious ice cream. The restaurant offers famous rotisserie-style chicken al carbon with different rubs, such as achiote and citrus or Yucatecan spice, served with various accompaniments. Other menu highlights include skirt steak, prawns, and flavorful bowls like the Power Bowl.
Fresa’s did a great job with lunch for our office again today. Marta is great for catering. Delish fresh food, friendly staff & accurate order fulfillment - highly recommend!

Food had great flavor, but the portion sizes were borderline disrespectful. Got a #1 quarter dark meat Achiote and Citrus Chicken. Awesome flavor, was cooked well. However, the side portions of the rice and beans came in the tiniest of cups. The input cost of those two sides is probably the cheapest on their menu, yet they are hilariously stingy in how small the portions are. Is this place run by Scrooge McDuck? And if I wanna go half chicken, I’m paying over $20 for a meal. Inflation is rampant, but not THAT rampant. $15-$16 would still be expensive, but plenty more reasonable for that offering. Will not eat here again. Here’s a side by side comparison of the side containers next to a can of tuna.
Gig E — Google review
I'm giving 2 stars because the breakfast tacos they sold me weren't freshly made. The flavor was pretty good, but the portion was not too good. Pretty small tacos for the price, pineapple agua fresca was really good but I asked for a large and felt like it was a medium drink.
Rene L — Google review
Will never come back here - $16 for 1 oz of chicken - margins must be good on these bowls!
Tanner W — Google review
The chicken bowl is amazing! The chicken was delicious (moist) as were the Brussels sprouts. Unfortunately, sitting outside and eating in awful Texas heat was not the high point. I highly recommend making an indoor area to sit and eat, even if only 10 tables. There is no shade, just concrete and heat outside. But even like that, I will return because the food is so good!!

Güero's Taco Bar is a popular spot located in a historic building with a patio, offering an extensive menu, including hand-shaken margaritas and a salsa bar. The restaurant serves authentic Mexican dishes with a Tex-Mex twist, such as enchiladas with various fillings and sauces. Visitors can enjoy the Oak Garden outside, featuring live music and a full bar on select days.
This place is an Austin institution, and it deserves its fame. Six of us descended on Guero’s about 5:00 on a Wednesday, and while it was busy, we were able to be seated immediately. Our excellent server took and delivered our drink orders, which came just enough later that we were ready to order. We munched on the complimentary chips and salsa until our food arrived. And the food was outstanding! We had everything from brisket enchiladas with mole to beef tacos queso to tamales to open face enchiladas with green sauce and more. Every single one of us loved every bite! The atmosphere is fun and lively, with lots of tables of happy diners all around. Whether you live in Austin or are just visiting, this is a great place to have your taste of the city!

The trio of salsas they brought out were all very good as well. They had a good selection of beer and their margaritas were fantastic. We also had a large group and they accommodated us very well. Güero’s Taco Bar has been open since 1986, and you definitely get that vibe when you walk inside. They have eclectic decorations, old photos, newspaper clippings, exposed brick wall with chipped paint, and worn wooden floors. It’s a popular spot in South Congress; there was a waitlist on Saturday around 3 pm, but tables turned fast and we got seated pretty quickly. We started with the queso flameado, melted jack cheese served with warm tortillas. We were surprised to see a deep bowl of cheese arrive at the table; they certainly did not skimp on the portions. It’s probably meant to be shared by more than 2 people. We also shared the pastor taco plate. It came with two marinated pork tacos, topped with chopped onions, cilantro and pineapple, and served with sides of rice and beans. We enjoyed the tacos, but were so full we had to take the rice and beans (and some of the cheese) home. Service was a little slow, especially towards the end when we were waiting for the check. Overall, the food was good, and there’s a fun and casual atmosphere.

Good spot for some good Tex-Mex. It was pretty busy Sunday at lunch hour but there wasn’t a wait. They have an unlimited salsa/green sauce/pico bar that you can use for the chips they provide- the salsa was my favorite. I ordered the gringo omelette which was quite good- the potatoes were my favorite part and nothing disappointed. Would recommend stopping by.

I got the tacos al pastor (just 2, no sides) and was delish. There is a free salsa bar so I got more of the red sauce and pickled jalapeños. There is a escabeche is just shredded white onions, which I found bland. But the tacos were well seasoned and with the complimentary chips it was enough food. I ‘m trying to cut carbs. It came with a small side salad/raw veggies to go on the tacos.

1st time coming to this Chuy's and it was amazing 😍.. the beautiful decor and atmosphere is great. Now the food on the other part please and I do mean please ask what's all on the food or how its made and how its serves on your plate due to it being spicy 🔥 as in HOT. I can't eat anything hot at the moment and I was not aware of all the hot sauce on the enchiladas. I explain my concern to Sterling the manager and he was so awesome and made me cheese enchiladas to go that was so sweet of him to do for me.. 🙏🏽❤️ definitely come check them out... Next time I am in town I will definitely come back... the food is delicious!! 🌮 🌯 🍷 And Sterling was great on fixing my food...

Busy restaurant but they found space for us four without a reservation. I had a taco enchilada combo which was great, others at the table had vegetarian dishes and chicken dillas. No draft beer so we drank margaritas and shiner bock. Service from Benjamin was great. Cost was $119.07 for four before tip.

I recently visited Chuy’s for lunch and really enjoyed it. The Boom Boom sauce was amazing and the green chile enchiladas were moist and flavorful. The chips and salsa were okay. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Food was overly spiced. I chose the least spicy sauce which tasted like just chili powder. Waiter was a bit much. Ease up on the specials and pushing all the add on.
Denise V — Google review
This was me and my family’s first time ever to Chuy’s as my father received a $50 gift card to Chuy’s and I’d have to say, I’m slightly disappointed. I’ve never been a big fan of Tex-Mex food but my parents die for it. The service was okay just like any other diner but my mother’s silverware was dirty as if it wasn’t washed which she was severely disgusted and disappointed with as she too works in the food industry. I ordered a burrito and it was just absolutely drowned and covered in the sauce I ordered. I don’t know if it’s supposed to be like that or not but it made my burrito soggy and I couldn’t taste anything else but the sauce. The meat for my mother and father’s meal seemed over cooked as it was very chewy and dry. My mother had to spit out some of her meat several times. My father ordered queso and it was pretty runny, I don’t know if that’s normal for Chuy’s but it felt as if we were dipping our chops into cheese flavored water than actual queso. The diner feels like a Dennys with a hipster look which in my opinion doesn’t match the food but hey I didn’t design the restaurant. Overall I would come back but not by myself or with my family. I’d come back if I got free food or if someone invited me out to eat and they chose this place. In summary, it wasn’t the best I’ve had but it also wasn’t the worst.

Exceptional Service from Luciano Made Our Day!! After a disappointing experience at Cracker Barrel, we decided to take our business to Chuy’s — and I’m so glad we did! From the moment we walked in, Luciano completely turned our day around with his amazing attitude and top-notch service. He was friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared that we were having a good experience. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect — from the food to the timing to the way he checked in on us. It’s rare to find someone who takes that much pride in their work and makes guests feel valued. Thank you, Luciano, for reminding us what great customer service looks like! Chuy’s is lucky to have you, and we’ll definitely be coming back because of you.

My score is based on a cpl of things: the atmosphere and the ability to order from the menu confidently. A higher score would be given based on these improvements. The atmosphere is loud, the music, the shouting from the music being loud and obnoxious. The bigger room is louder and dim, could hardly hear the staff. The menu would get higher points if pic's were implemented, also a way to measure quantity of portions. Photo of quesadilla appetizer, they are big not small.

Mexican restaurant
Veracruz All Natural is a popular eatery known for its delicious tacos, including the famous migas taco. Founded by sisters Reyna and Maritza Vazquez from Veracruz, Mexico, the restaurant offers a blend of fresh, organic ingredients with a passion for their culture. Originally a food truck, it has expanded to multiple locations and an extended menu featuring pastor, fish, barbacoa, and shrimp tacos.
Veracruz is a hidden gem for tacos in Austin, TX! I tried the shrimp, barbacoa, and chorizo tacos, and each one was packed with flavor. The salsas were perfectly balanced—not too hot, not too mild—just right. I also had an agua de horchata, which was fresh and tasty. The vibe is great too, with both indoor seating and a covered outdoor patio. It’s a solid spot for a quick taco fix. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Very popular Tex-Mex spot in Austin. The guac was well-made and chips were fresh, thick, & crunchy type. As for the tacos themselves, they were not complex in their flavor profile: tasted like the combination of the ingredients they were made with. Everything inside (egg, peppers, mushroom, etc.) was cooked well so it tasted good but lacking synergy.

First taco stop in Austin as an out of towner, and this spot did not disappoint. Fantastic steak and chicken tacos, perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend! Bring your pet, select a picnic table and just enjoy!

I will forever recommend anyone I know how is visiting Austin to go the Veracruz. It was absolutely delicious, the drinks were refreshing and the ambience was fantastic! I wish I had tried more of their tacos, but definitely will try them next time I am in the city~

My tastebuds are having a party. This is fresh and authentic food! Doña Reyna is sublime, Miga’s poblano great for breakfast Eggs and chorizo and an Al pastor for lunch! Mmmmm Will I be back for a fourth visit???

There was a surprisingly long wait despite only a few customers at the time, which was a bit frustrating. However, the tacos were delicious, especially the barbacoa, and the space itself was enjoyable with some really cute areas to sit and enjoy the meal.
Heather C — Google review
Best corn tacos ever! I don’t even really like corn but if I could have those that’s all I would have. I had steak, fish, and mole. The staff were so nice and the food came out super fresh. You may have to wait because they are busy and make everything from scratch. It’s worth the wait.

El Chile Café y Cantina is a vibrant and laid-back Mexican cafe with a charming patio. It's renowned for its puffy tacos, flavorful margaritas, and a distinctive red mole sauce. The restaurant offers an array of classic Tex-Mex dishes such as enchiladas, fajitas, chalupas, and tacos made with fresh corn tortillas prepared daily in-house. Guests can enjoy brunch, dinner, or reverse happy hour at this East Austin gem located off Manor Road.
Super yum! Great brunch (or happy hour) before UT games. Grilled avo Caesar salad is next level delish. Super friendly, efficient service today & excellent margaritas. Highly recommend!

El Chile is the absolute best restaurant. It’s well located, has parking, great patio, the bar is awesome. They have $5 margaritas every Monday. Great service. When I’m on a hurry and order to go, food is always perfect. My favorite brunch menu item has to be chilaquiles, absolutely fantastic!!

First time eating at El Chile today. It's just down the street from my apartment, so I thought I'd give it a shot. The chips and salsa were out of this world! Chips are served hot, and they're not like every other Mexican restaurant's chips. They're really different, and so delicious, and they have two kinds of salsas. One is carrot/habanero, and the other is a smoked tomato/garlic. Both are absolutely AWESOME! Plenty of vegetarian options as well! I had the veggie quesadillas. They were absolutely exquisite! Nice portion, too! My server was super nice and took great care of me! The menu is also reasonably priced! Great lunch! I'll definitely be going back! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!

Nice place close to my hotel, and great atmosphere with nice music! Ceviche was fresh and beers were cold. Will be stopping by again as Christan made sure the beets kept coming. Also had a Redfish taco the following day as well! Went twice as it was just priced right and food was that good.
Monse T — Google review
Great little spot. We popped in before a concert on a week night and had a great experience. The frozen top shelf & watermelon margaritas are delicious! We tried the flautas and the puffy taco plate. Both are solid choices. Hopefully we can go back to try more of the tacos!
Marissa R — Google review
Great staff and flavorful food with large portions. Parking was easy to find for a weekday lunchtime but may be difficult during peak hours. - Chips/salsa provided on the house. Dark salsa (charred) for the chips was so addicting that we also dipped all our dishes in it. Lighter salsa (habanero) was more spicy but also had a little sweetness - Empanadas with barbacoa had a deep fried taste (the oil tastes similar to donuts) but the fresh and pickled veggies, sauce, and barbacoa cheese filling were great - Redfish chiltepin was refreshing, flavor was okay - Charbroiled fajitas with half beef half chicken was served sizing on a cast iron plate. Both meats were juicy and cooked to perfection I was full from sharing the empanadas and had to take leftovers for the fajitas platter but the taste is still great next day. Ample seating outdoors/indoors/bar, close to UT. I would definitely come back for their 3 pm happy hour!
Tif — Google review
I ordered the breakfast enchiladas from the brunch menu with avocado and no protein. The food came out lukewarm — the tortillas were gummy, and the poblano cream sauce and charro beans didn’t have much flavor. The crispy potatoes were okay but also just warm at best. The only thing I finished were the fried eggs. If you like cream or non-dairy milk in your coffee, you’re out of luck — they only have cow’s milk. I hadn’t been here in a while since they don’t allow dogs on the patio (which is pretty unusual for Austin). After this visit, I wasn’t impressed and probably won’t be back.

Delicious entrées, friendly attentive service, great time had by all! Had flautas, fajitas, & Enchiladas. Highly recommend, when visiting Austin. Food came out quick and hot. Had mangonada margarita, top shelf frozen margarita, & spicy Sandia margarita. All were perfect! Note: drinks were delivered full, but we drank some before the photos were taken. ;)

Restaurant
Better Half Coffee & Cocktails is a vibrant cafe and coffee shop by day, transforming into a lively spot for cocktails and delicious fare in the evening. Located in downtown Austin, it offers globally inspired dishes alongside an array of beverages including coffee, draft cocktails, wine, craft ciders, and beer. The venue's cheery oasis features a pink picnic table-laden patio where patrons can enjoy quality non-alcoholic options or indulge in espresso and tequila shots.
Better Half has been on our radar for a long time now, so we popped in for a late weekday breakfast. The property is really nice with a number of inside seating spots as well as plenty of outside seating under some lovely, old oak trees. We ordered the Breakfast Sandwich (with sausage), the Fried Chicken Biscuit (spicy), and the Cauliflower Tots. Even though they were a bit busy, the food came out quickly. Both sandwiches were really delicious. The flavors in the breakfast sandwich all melded together really nicely. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the biscuit was buttery and fluffy. The tots weren't our favorite, but they were nice and crunchy with a sweet beet ketchup. I'd love to come back to try more items from their menu as well as their coffee and cocktails.
Brittany E — Google review
Great Vibe and Good Food, Definitely Worth a Visit This is my third time coming to Better Half, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. I ordered the half Chop Chop salad, the single chicken bacon burger, and a veggie burger. It’s hard not to like this place. The amount of property they have means you can almost always find a seat, which is a nice. If you’re into alcohol, I’m sure you’d really enjoy it here as they have a great selection. It’s hard to beat a $7 chicken/beef burger though the patty itself is a bit on the thin side. Everything was solid—the food was good, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was enjoyable. It definitely feels like a spot that you could always go to and know what you’re getting.
Austin M — Google review
This place is definitely popular, but I found myself underwhelmed by the famous cauliflower tots and the breakfast sandwich. They didn’t live up to the hype for me. The cauliflower tots were crispy but, like the breakfast sandwich, could benefit from more flavor. However, the beetroot ketchup had a unique taste to it. On a positive note, the lemon olive oil cake and the queso were delightful. As for the coffee, I was disappointed. The caramel sea salt cold brew tasted more like vanilla, with barely any caramel or sea salt flavors coming through. The lavender latte was watery. Overall, nothing really hit the mark. The best part of the place, though, is definitely the vibe. The outdoor patio is spacious, with plenty of shaded seating and a cozy bar area in the corner, covered in vines and string lights. Inside, there’s a nice mix of seating options so whether you want a couch or a high table they have it all. And they have a little kiddie pool outside where you can dip your feet, which is nice, and dogs are allowed, so if you’re just looking for a chill place to hang out, it’s great, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for the food or drinks.
Diana X — Google review
I’ve visited this restaurant three times, and it’s consistently solid. My recent Saturday brunch really stood out. The food is flavorful and well-executed, with a thoughtful concept that shines through in the menu. The space is clean, modern, and stylish, creating a welcoming vibe. My only gripe is the crowd—expect a wait, especially on weekends, though the kitchen turns out dishes quickly. If you’re local, this spot’s probably already on your radar.
Tim B — Google review
Truly one of the most mediocre places I’ve been to that is trying to be trendy. The breakfast sandwich was so underwhelming for the price. No seasoning, no salsa, no sauce. Just a bunch of fried elements without seasoning. It was very one note and nothing to it. Difficult to eat. Coffee was okay, much prefer other places in Austin. Super loud inside.
Sandy Z — Google review
I've always loved Better Half, it was a tried and true spot for me for years. I came back to grab a salad for lunch for the first time in about a year and I am sad to say it has gone downhill. $48 for two very un-fresh disheveled "half" salads, and a dirty table. I am so sad to have spent so much for so little, but more sad to see a place I once loved not holding their standard.
Loren S — Google review
We loved this place so much on our trip to Austin that we went a few times during the week. We didn’t have too long of a wait each time but we were there during off season and not peak hours. There’s plenty of outdoor seating which was so nice on a warm day. The coffee was good and I appreciated their baked goods. The breakfast sandwiches were also good.
Britt — Google review
This is just fun. Cocktails and Cafe. Small indoor space and lots of outdoor picnic table seating. I worked with the sides menu for my G.F. options, the Offspring had eggs and pancakes. Coffee and latte options. We had breakfast here twice while in town.

The cult-favorite spot is famous for its creamy Dona sauce and best-selling Cowboy taco made with beef tenderloin, grilled corn, onions, roasted poblano, guacamole, and queso fresco.
Amazing little taco place in the middle of downtown!! Tacos, cheese dip and margaritas were all amazing!! The taste and attention to combing flavors together is wry well done! Highly recommend!! P.S. stay away from the habanero salsa unless you want it HOT!!!

Tacodeli has been a long time favorite of mine. Excellent food & service. Great vegetarian + vegan options. You have to try the Doña salsa - it's the best!

Taco Deli on 3rd & Congress is like the Whole Foods version of tacos — clean, fresh, and making you feel healthier even if you just ate three. It’s not Torchys-level chaos with wild combos like “deep-fried brisket lava explosion,” but hey, simplicity slaps sometimes. You’re paying about $4–5 a taco. The staff are absolute angels. Fast and friendly. It’s an Austin classic taco location, not flashy, not Instagram thirsty, just quietly, consistently good. Like that one friend who doesn’t party hard but always shows up with Advil the next morning.
Adam J — Google review
The service was horrible! The person who took our order rushed us and seemed bothered. When we asked questions, she just said whatever you want. The tacodeli bowl was 50% beans and bland. The shrimposito was sad. It lacked anything. The price was definitely not matching the food we received. Would not come again.

We loved everything about this place. The staff took their time to explain the menu and selections to us since it was our first time visiting. The back patio is really inviting and relaxing. The front patio has a high bar to sit at ga in the road and that's what we chose. Our food came out hot, fresh and tasty. We also ordered some frozen yogurt to go which was delicious. We highly recommend visiting.

This place is delicious! In Austin for the weekend and I highly recommend stopping by when you're in town. If I was a local I'd be here all the time! The pulled chicken sandwich was excellent especially with the addition of jalapeno, bacon and avocado! Rotisserie Cobb salad was fantastic will probably try to recreate that once I get home.

Lou’s Eastside is so delicious: burgers, rotisserie chicken, aguas frescas, frozen custard & beer! They have outside seating with corn hole & giant jenga! They also preserved/restored the original Aztec murals all around their build from the past Leal's tires business such a beautiful honor!

One of the best burger places in Austin Texas hands down. It also has nice service, clean set up and a great atmosphere for chilling with lots of space. Also it has more to offer than just burgers. The food is amazing.
Brandon T — Google review
The sloppy burger I was looking for plus chippies with the skin on! Sooo filling and the beef felt fresh and not too processed. Chill hands off service which I enjoyed and some fans in the seating area to take the edge off the heat. I did some vocal warm ups in the bathroom and the reverb was epic. Reasonable beer pricing. Could do with some more eco friendly packaging.

Great spot in Eastside, Austin. I grew up right across the street from here when this place was a tire shop. This place has good outside seating both shades and unshaded, great music and awesome selection of drinks and food. Highly recommend.

I was on my way home from a baseball game and with the weather getting worse I decided to stop at Lou’s Eastside location and pick up a rotisserie chicken to enjoy for the next two days. This place has great character and trendy with the 20-30 year old crowd. At first the place looked very busy and worried I could not find a parking lot since it was very small but luckily there was a spot. Otherwise park on the street behind it. I love this place and ordered a whole Rotisserie Chicken with one side, Rotisserie Potatoes. They had a meal option with two sides but just need one. I also noticed a Miller High Life Pony and had to get it along with a Lou’s Koozie. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The next day I warmed up the chicken in the microwave and it was just delicious. It smelled delightful and excellent flavor. I forgot how much this chicken tasted. The potatoes were just as good and drank it all down with my little pony beer.

Happy hour (HALF-price) burger, fries, and one frozen marg + light tip (you order at counter and then pick up yourself)…..$30. I know this whole city is pricey nowadays, but geez this $15 frozen marg out of a machine genuinely does not taste good. If it wasn’t happy hour i would be pushing $40 for an absolutely mid meal and a bad drink. Totally fine spot to hang, nice outdoor vibes and stuff, but man it’s way too pricey for what you get. I dunno. Very confused at how this get’s a “$10-$20 per person” rating.

Taco restaurant
OneTaco Taquería @ Frost Tower is a popular Mexican fast-food spot in Austin, Texas. It gained fame after being featured on Diners Drive-ins, and Dives in 2019, but locals have been loving it for much longer. The Gringa taco, a local favorite, features pastor with cheese on a flour tortilla. With six locations around Austin, including a downtown food truck and brick-and-mortar stores, there's no excuse not to try their delicious tacos.
Warm and friendly atmosphere and attentive staff. Ordered birria tacos with consommé and an al pastor taco. The flavors are authentic, the consommé rich, and the al pastor is the real deal - pineapple and all! Thirst quenched with a jamaica.
Rebecca P — Google review
Somewhere in the chaos of downtown Austin you can find OneTaco - Frost Tower. One of many locations, this spot is conveniently located on the ground floor right next to a parking garage. The atmosphere was decent, a taco joint with self serve salsa and a few seats towards the back. Service was friendly and the food came out quick too. We tried a few tacos and cheese quesadillas so we had a diverse spread. As far as tacos go, it’s hard to make bad tacos and these were about as middle of the road as they come. We were very excited for the birria taco and it fell very flat, the corn tortillas don’t taste too fresh and the consome was pretty bland. The al pastor taco was okay, not a huge fan of pineapple on it but we can’t dock points for something we could easily choose to remove. The best taco by far was the carne asada, it was juicy and full of flavor, all around delicious. They offer two vegetarian taco options which was helpful since on of our friends is vegetarian and they really liked them curing their flavorfulness. Our cheese quesadillas were okay, again hard to mess up cheese and bread. The flour tortillas definitely taste better than the corn here, which is something we don’t come across often. The final verdict is that OneTaco is a middle of the road taco joint that is a great option for anyone finishing off a night on 6th to head on over to.
Amber L — Google review
An unassuming alley of flavor. The Al Pastor and Steak tacos deliver bold punches in tragically modest portions. The space? About as tight as your jeans after Thanksgiving. Value could stretch further, but the taste justifies the squeeze. I’ll be back — not because I’m full, but because I’m haunted.
Adam J — Google review

ABIGAILMAE — Google review
OneTaco Taquería at Frost Tower is an absolute winner for quick, high-quality tacos in downtown Austin. The ingredients are fresh, the tortillas are soft and flavorful, and every taco is packed with perfectly seasoned meat and just the right amount of toppings. The carne asada and al pastor are standouts, but honestly, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. The location is perfect — bright, clean, and convenient if you are working or exploring downtown. The staff is friendly, the service is fast, and the food always comes out hot and delicious. If you want authentic tacos in a modern setting, OneTaco Taquería at Frost Tower is your spot. It delivers every single time.

Jack Allen’s Kitchen is the ultimate destination for those in search of classic Texan comfort food. With several locations across Texas, including Oak Hill, Cedar Park, Round Rock, and North Shoal Creek, this eatery offers a delectable menu featuring green chile pork poutines, flavorful eggy quesadillas, and refreshing morningish cocktails. A must-try at Jack Allen’s Kitchen is their silver dollar pancake add-ons that are available for all dishes.
My family and I came here for dinner and our experience was amazing. Our wait was 15 to 20 minutes. We were able to sit outside in the patio and enjoy the nice weather and the view of the pond and water fountain. The weather wasn’t too hot or chilly. We arrived here during happy hour and had like an hour left to enjoy the half off prices on drinks and appetizers. All of our drinks were amazing and were made just right. We ordered the nachochitos for our appetizer and it was delicious. My wife ordered the chorizo pork chops, my daughter and I ordered hamburgers. Everything was tasting delicious and amazingly fresh. For the burger the meat is normally cooked to medium but our waitress let us know and asked it was okay for us. So be aware and if medium cooked is not your thing then let them know when ordering your burger. Parking is a breeze because there is a huge parking garage right next to the restaurant. It has both elevator and stairs. Also, if you use Google maps, be aware it will misguide you towards the front of the COOP. Just make sure to the parking garage for parking.

A family member has been here several times and has talked highly about the food so we thought we’d finally try this location. We arrived at a about 4 o clock on a Monday so there was very many customers present. When our waitress came to the table she provided an excellent description of that days specials and when asked provided a good variety of the meals she’d recommend for a first time customer. We ordered the Texas Coast Crispy Shrimp, Chicken Fried Pork Chop and Pesto Marinated Crab Stuffed Chicken. For having very few customers at the time we considered it a long wait for our food to come to the table. (Our family member who had recommended this location had boosted about how quick service had been during his visits). The wait was clearly worth it, the food quality was exceptional. Didn’t have drinks this time but next time it will be get a drink, chill, have a conversation and wait for the food to arrive. We will return.

This was my first time at Jack Allen’s Kitchen. Brittany was our server. She was nothing short of amazing. I can't say enough about the outstanding customer service. She knew the food, drinks, and smiled the whole time. She made my bonus mom’s birthday extra special. She brought out a dessert with ice cream and a candle. I could go on and on about this experience. I will definitely ask for Brittany when we come back.

**⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Experience at Jack Allen's Kitchen!** I recently had the pleasure of dining at Jack Allen's, and it was truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and perfectly captures that cozy Texas charm with a touch of sophistication. The food was the real star—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. I highly recommend the Breakfast Sandwich Scrambled farm eggs & crispy potato birds nest, applewood smoked bacon & jack cheese, brioche bun, chipotle hollandaise, jalapeno mayo, JAK’d up breakfast potatoes -absolutely delicious! Every bite was bursting with flavor, and the portions were generous without being overwhelming. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. The staff overall went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Whether you're visiting for brunch, lunch, or dinner, Jack Allen’s delivers on every level. The desserts looked mouthwatering, but we were just too full to indulge this time. Without a doubt, we’ll be returning. Highly recommend!

I had my first visit to Jack Allen’s, and I can confidently say it won’t be my last! The staff was so warm and welcoming, and our server really stood out with their knowledge and spot-on recommendations. We started with the Barbacoa Stacker appetizer—such a perfect combination of flavors. For my entrée, I tried the seasonal Blue Crab Ravioli, which was light yet wonderfully satisfying. And dessert? You absolutely must try the Blondie Pie topped with vanilla ice cream—it was the perfect sweet ending. What impressed me most was learning that every ingredient is locally sourced, which makes the experience even more special. Next time I have friends visiting from out of town, Jack Allen’s will definitely be at the top of my list to share with them!

This is one of those places that you go to once and never go back to again. Went with a party of 8, took over 30 minutes to seat us and they weren’t even busy. The server was slow on refilling drinks and messed up on our order. We got some appetizers, one tiny scoop of pimento and 3 chips per plate nearly made me bust out laughing. Wish I had taken a pic of it. The food was presentable but not worth the wait or the price.

First time we ate here and the burgers were decent but a bit small. The drinks were solid, but the fries we received were not that hot. Just a little parm thrown on them. The truffle aioli was amazing and the green chili queso was good although not hot enough. The system upon ordering is a bit confusing as you place the order with a person ..all the way at the back of the restaurant. A gentleman approached us and asked us where we wanted to sit while we were ordering, and the whole thing was just a bit confusing. I feel like the seating part should be done at the door. And even the food ordering We had a good time nonetheless and enjoyed the food and may be back!

The fries alone are fine, they have a good crisp to them, but the homemade condiments really take them to the next level— definitely try the chipotle bbq sauce or the chipotle mayo!

Tried Hopdoddy Burger Bar in Austin after hearing the hype, but honestly, it didn’t live up to expectations. The burger was underwhelming, especially the cheese, which was a melted mess that ruined the flavor and texture. Sweet potato fries were a letdown too—over-salted and overly greasy. On a positive note, the service was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the food didn’t deliver, and I won’t be returning.

Was, Ok was expecting better...tiny portions ..meat had no seasoning, leftover greasy fry bits , had to hunt for catsup, condiments should be on tables. Plating on a tiny tray made it look even smaller...overall presentation...sad..Sorry but Habit Burger way better and Shake Shack way better ..If a place is going to try to be upscale you need to up the game ..

Went during happy hour on Memorial Day and it was fantastic. There was basically no wait, and the cocktails were all half off, can't be it! We ordered a Goodnight, El Diablo, fries (don't forget the truffle aioli!), and a Big Larry, each and every item came out perfect and it was very cheap. EL Diablo was quite hot, I wouldn't get it if you're faint of heart. I've been to a few other Hopdoddy's in Austin and they have been somewhat hit or miss, but this location did not disappoint at all, I'll make the trek out here rather than the other spots.

I was so excited to try the truffle fries and burger, but was let down :/ Meh. Truffle fries lacked the truffle flavor and didn’t have enough salt. Sauces were bland :/ Good portion size though. OG burger was ok. The patty was small, a little dry, and lacked flavor. The bun was decent and fresh veggies were prepped and presented well.

The restaurant features a large dining area and patio where you can relax with friends. Their Sunday brunch happy hour offers half-priced signature cocktails and Mimosas by the bottle, perfect for group gatherings. La Condesa is known for its extensive menu of tequilas and mezcal, making it one of the best spots in Austin for tacos.
Amazing food with traditional interior Mexican flavors given a modern twist. The vibe is electric - such a fun place to eat. Great for groups and couples. If you haven’t been yet, make sure to go!!! And don’t miss the traditional homemade heirloom corn tortillas

I thought the food was really good and tasty! Everything had a lot of flavor. The issue with my experience was the service. We had a reservation set and when we walked in the host was scrambling to get everything ready. The table was also not properly set, we had utensils missing and when we asked the server to bring out the missing utensils they were never brought out. We had to ask multiple times. Same happened with water. We would ask for more and the server would come back multiple times, and not bring it. I will say, the food runners did a good job bringing everything out and explaining what each dish was. Also we were sat outside and they turned the light off at one point so we were sitting in the dark.
Angela L — Google review
The whole experience was great! Our server Eric was very knowledgeable and gave a great run down on the whole menu. Every dish was delicious but the quesadilla, ceviche, and corn were our favorite. Drinks were great too. Definitely worth a try!
Matea C — Google review
La Condesa is a beautiful restaurant — nicely decorated with a stylish, modern vibe. The bar is cute and offers a good variety of cocktails. The appetizers like the guacamole and the queso fundido with peppers were good, though the esquites were not our favorite. We ordered a huarache, sopes, zucchini tostadas, a short rib quesadilla, and cochinita. The food was just okay overall — the sopes and quesadilla were decent, but nothing that really stood out. Service was average. We mentioned we were celebrating a birthday, but the waiter said they didn’t offer any complimentary dessert. When we ordered one, he also said they didn’t have candles so if you’re planning to celebrate, bring your own! Overall, the place is lovely and the ambiance is nice, but honestly, the food didn’t impress me. I’d much rather go to Suerte the food and cocktails there are much better, and you can tell the difference right away: Suerte is always packed, while at La Condesa you can easily get in without a reservation.

Great food and plenty of options. My team and I really enjoyed the Agua Fresca - we had the Hibiscus and pineapple mint. We ordered many of the appetizers to start and did a few of the main courses family style. With a few tortillas, this worked really well. The servers were attentive and it was a really great experience

We had an amazing experience from start to finish. All of the staff members were very friendly and inviting. Our server, Mike T, was very knowledgeable and personable. He had great recommendations and we felt really taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious and we would 100% come back. We had the short rib quesadillas, Sopes, Crudo, and Tres Leches. Mike recommended the Mezcal of Rosaluna Joven, which was stronger than I expected, but delicious and we also tried the Sandia Sabía cocktail which was delightful! Everything was great!

This place is a true hot spot for authentic Mexican food. From the moment you walk in, the décor is amazing and sets the tone for a great dining experience. I was traveling for work and decided to stop by. I sat outside on the patio, which had a great atmosphere. I ordered the carnitas tacos and their ceviche special—both were absolutely outstanding. To top it off, I enjoyed a mezcal cocktail that paired perfectly with the meal. The location is lively and popular, so expect it to be crowded and plan for a bit of a wait. But trust me, it’s well worth it for the food, service, and atmosphere.

My wife and I attended the first collaboration of their Summer of Ceviche series featuring EnsenadaATX's Ceviche Tostada, it was amazing! We also had their Carnitas Tacos and Pai Pai (bay scallops), both dishes were excellent. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff/service was impeccable, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We will be back.

El Naranjo, located on South Lamar, is a Mexican restaurant known for its traditional interior Mexican cuisine crafted by chef Iliana De La Vega. The menu features dishes like rancheros, huevos benedictos, and chilaquiles with a unique twist compared to Tex-Mex joints.
I’ve eaten dinner AND brunch here, and both were fabulous. For dinner we tried the ceviche and empanadas to start, and the halibut a la diabla and one of the seasonal/special moles with halibut as our mains. I’d recommend it all. You can’t go wrong with traditional Oaxacan mole prepared by a James Beard award winning chef. For brunch we started with the vanilla pan dulce, made in-house, because I wanted to dip it in my cafe de olla. It’s a must. For mains we had the huevos rancheros, huevos benedictos, and the chilaquiles divorciados with over-medium eggs. All were delicious. The atmosphere is great, the decor is modern and minimalist yet relaxing, and their authentic tableware compliments the presentation of the food. The service is impeccable. Your water glass is never empty and the servers are so knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients. Caesar is amazing and will take the best care of you.

Incredible food. Wonderful, all made from scratch. Meat and sauces were incredible. I had a cocktail, it was delicious and light. Can't recommend highly enough, will be back. Gerry was the perfect waiter, and was so helpful in choosing the right meals for us. His recommendations were spot on.

This restaurant offers an authentic Mexican dining experience, with incredibly friendly staff and delicious food. It’s also quite vegetarian-friendly. We tried the chocolate tamales with marigold ice cream, and they were absolutely amazing.

Unremarkable surroundings showcase average tasting food. Pork was a 4-5 star but duck gamey and not prepared well. Drinks are pricey even for Austin. Waiter was very sweet but novice at best.
Cliff C — Google review
El Naranjo’s food is always excellent. Their menu often features drinks and dishes inspired by specific states in Mexico. I’ve had and enjoyed their dinner before (highly recommend the filete and house-made ice cream), but this was my first time having brunch. The queso fundido (with handmade corn tortillas), ceviche and huevos benedictos were all impressive. I definitely scarfed down the queso before managing a photo (oops). And I definitely couldn’t go without a jar or 4 of their salsa macha. They do ship, but I still tend to purchase extra whenever I’m in Austin.
Dani — Google review
Went for brunch and we loved it! everything was delicious and fairly affordable. The mole was some of the best we have ever had, and the chilaquiles were super fresh and zingy.
Isabelle W — Google review
We visited this place mainly for the chiles en nogada, the fact that they serve them it's already a win and they were good. Tortillas here are really good as well, kinda reminds me of my home town.
Miguel A — Google review
We’ve been going to El Naranjo since their previous location and always enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, this is the third time we’ve found human hair in our food at the new location. The first time we thought it might’ve been an accident, but after two more times, it’s completely unacceptable. It’s a real shame because the food itself is great, but the hygiene standards are clearly not. It seems like employees aren’t wearing hairnets or following proper sanitation practices, and that’s just not okay for any restaurant. Until they address this issue seriously, we won’t be coming back.

Our 1st time here and we will def be coming back. What a great find! Fast service, nice environment and delicious food! We ordered a bunch of stuff and highly recommend the fiesta fajitas, stuffed avocado and the quesadilla

Arrived with a group of my coworkers (eight of us) for dinner and we were seated fairly quickly. For us to be a semi big party the service we received was good and attentive (automatic tip included). I ordered a mango swirl margarita and I really enjoyed it. For appetizers, I ordered the guacamole (came with chip). The guacamole was itself was a little “wet” but the tomatoes and onions were a nice touch but I do enjoy a chunky guacamole. For my meal, I ordered the chicken fajitas with corn tortillas. It came with veggies (onions, bell peppers, and zucchini) and a side of rice, choice of beans. The chicken was a tad bit dry and veggies over cooked. One thing I really did like was the green/red salsas. The flavors were nice and it had a good spicy kick to it. Overall, I enjoyed the time spent with my coworkers but the food was lackluster.
Ashley S — Google review
Went to Trudy’s for lunch on a Thursday wasn’t busy at all, the staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Overall the food was typical and as expected. Just had a taco salad which was what you would expect, the stuff avocado was just ok. The queso and salsas were good. Got a side of mash and Mexican corn. The mash was pretty good and the corn seems abit mushy. It is a nice place to just hang out and grab a drink though.

This is like a restaurant bar that claims to be a Mexican restaurant. It's a large area, I think it even has a second floor. The food was good, I had the chicken stuffed with chorizo, kind of a staple in this part of Texas. I came in the late afternoon, so I was there for Happy Hour, $5 margaritas. It wasn't too busy, but I would imagine it gets busy during peak hours. Worth a shot, if you want something local.

Cool atmosphere inside or a nice patio with lots of seating. Excellent food and the drinks are just as good, especially the Mexican martinis. The shrimp enchiladas and shrimp tacos were very good. My go to spot up north!

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. There is plenty of parking out front of this Northern Austin location. The restaurant was not terribly busy, and so we were seated promptly. We enjoyed the cheese enchiladas and a side of guacamole. They provide free chips and salsa both red and green. Very tasty! Our guacamole was a generous portion, if not inexpensive. The enchilada plates were very tasty and come with delicious thick corn tortillas made on premises. The service was very good! (A rarity nowadays..) Total bill was $35.72 before tip and included two soft drinks. Adult beverages are available. Seating is extensive with two levels.

However, El Arroyo is not just about the laughs; it also offers delicious food such as Black Angus beef tacos and hand-squeezed margaritas that are made with their famous fresh margarita mix.
This place was better than I hoped for. There is lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The service was quick and friendly. The food was so good! The chicken tacos had a wonderful smoked flavor that was a level up from the average. The prices were good as well!

We are snobs when it comes to Mexican food but El Arroyo was better than I was expecting! I really wanted to try it because it’s an icon in Austin and I was very surprised that it wasn’t a tourist trap. Chips were delicious. Margaritas were good. Food was legit. Service was great!! Definitely worth the trip!

Finally visited the iconic El Arroyo after 3 years of living in Austin—and it was worth the try! I tried the chicken & beef fajitas, the Cowboy Burrito, and the real star: their $9 margarita, which I honestly consider one of the best in town. Flavorful, strong, and such a steal. Service could’ve been better, but overall, it’s a yes from me. Classic Austin vibes! And i do recommend taking picture with their famous marquee sign.

Three of us gathered here for an early lunch and sat out on the patio. A very friendly server immediately greeted us with complimentary chips and salsa. She was very patient with us when we talked for a few before even looking at the menu. When we did get food, it was scrumptious! The vibe was so so good. Music was amazing but a little too loud. Food was nice however, the quesadillas were too dry. Guacamole was too good. The salsa’s were great. Drinks were good too. Overall this place is nice for its vibe and hanging out with friends and we look forward to come back to do our margarita pitcher afternoon soon!

Quite possibly some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Let me start with the chips and salsa: the green sauce has a creamy consistency to it but is actually spicy. The red sauce is less spicy but similar consistency with a strong smoky flavor to it. It was so good, I used it with my mains as well and devoured all the sauce. Now let me get to the conchita pibil I got. The corn tortillas were super soft and warm, and served to you inside aluminum wrap to keep it warm. It comes with guacamole and pickled onions that appear house made - nothing out of a jar or can here. The stewed pork was fantastic and extremely flavorful and tender. All the individual ingredients in this dish are thoughtfully curated and made in house. By far the best Mexican I’ve had so far in Austin and highly recommend it. Shout-out to Juan, the bartender also!

Absolutely knocked my socks off. We sat outside and the atmosphere was great, our 2 year old was entertained by the decor and lights so we actually got a decent meal. The food was AMAZING and out waiter Jose was always there when we needed him but not pushy. Cocktails were top notch. Cant recommend enough.

For 2-4 people, this place is an absolutely incredible time! Prices are good for the food, I didn't look around the alcohol menu much. I'd imagine it is not as great the more amount of people in your group because there are lots of smaller tables. Food was incredible Music is on the louder side, I'm not complaining, and I wouldn't bring my grandma there. Staff came in clutch on last second things we wanted, you gotta wave em down, but their response time was rapid, so it was worth it to have to be slightly assertive for the uninterrupted conversations. -QR Code menus, and upon request, physical menus -One of the women who was working called it "Mexican Soul Food" when I asked her what best describes the food they serve. I totally agree
William D — Google review
From a humble but cute outside appearance to a burst of originality and creativity on the inside. We first started with the complimentary salsa that consisted of a green (avocado and jalapeno) and an orange (roasted chili). Not overly spicy with a kick on the backside. The Fundido was a rich thick cheese with a lovely caramelized bottom. The tortillas were so fresh with a great corn flavor and tender texture. The star of the dinner was the scallops served with an olive and caper sauce. The bread served with it was a fabulous vehicle for the sumptuous sauce. The scallops were tender and cooked perfectly. The TresLeches was good, but not the best weve ever had. We will definitely go back and might plan a Chistmas Holiday party there due to the chillled laid back atmosphere. The little patio is so cute!!

INCREDIBLE!! We are visiting from the east coast and needed somewhere to stop before we leave, I came across this place just looking for food on Google and saw all the other great reviews and figured we should stop here. Thank goodness we did!! It was packed with locals and working men, and we knew that was a good sign. We were seated within 10 minutes, drinks and chips with the best tasting spicy salsa I’ve had our whole trip, and the food came out in less than 10-15mins. Everything was DELICIOUS!!! Best authentic Mexican food we’ve tried in Austin so far since moving here three months ago. The service was amazing, under a 10 minute wait even though it was very busy and we were expecting a 20+ min wait. Staff is very kind and quick. Food was so delicious 😋 we got the migas plate and the chori-migas plate. We tried both the corn and flour tortillas and they were all right. Looking at all the other dishes in the restaurant made me want to order everything. Atmosphere has low volume music due to the restaurant bustle which is good, its a cozy atmosphere. I'd be a regular if I lived closer.

Lazarus Brewing Co. is a charming brewery located in East Austin, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere for beer enthusiasts. The establishment not only serves its own house beers but also features root beer, kombucha, espresso, and delectable house tacos. The brewery has quickly become a favorite among locals with its friendly ambiance, fairy lights, comfortable seating, and an outdoor patio.
Went to Airport Blvd location. I had a flight and enjoyed all of the beers that I tried so I took 3 crowlers to go to share with friends back in San Antonio. When I got home, all 3 had leaked and when I took them off of the plastic holder 1 exploded with the top coming off. Good beer, but if you want buy the crowlers to go, make sure you keep them as cold as possible during transport. Edited after contact from Jessica at Lazarus: changed from 4 to 5 stars and added advice for crowler transport. I’m still unsure if crowler leaks/bursting were from a packaging issue or transport. The beers were never brought above 80F but since they were stored cold at Lazarus, even that temperature change added to the vibration of car travel to San Antonio may have caused the leaking. Note that the temperature change being a factor is my speculation on the cause and not an excuse/deflection offered by Lazarus. Regardless of the cause, Jessica addressed the issue and I am happy with the result. Again, the beer was excellent, service was friendly and the quick contact about a customer issue is a sign of a well run business. I’ll return to Lazarus when visiting Austin and hope to try their food and more of their delicious beer. Cheers.

Lazarus hands down has the best locally brewed beers in Austin and arguably the entire country, there I said it. The crisp refreshing lagers such as Black Pearl, Time Machine, and John Wayne is a Sissy make getting through the summer days in Austin a breeze, and if that ain’t your style, there are plenty of other ales on tap. The staff are always friendly and inviting, vibes are immaculate, and the location has you feeling close to the city but away from the rambunctiousness of E 6th st. Highly recommend showing your friends and family Lazarus, it won’t disappoint. Special shout out to Carlos who always says hello with a bright smile and shows some love to my boy Tex!🤠

My wife and I had a great time at Lazarus this weekend. There are several inviting spaces to relax in, and the atmosphere is a laid back neighborhood vibe. We enjoyed some delicious street tacos along with a nice variety of drinks-- Lightning Wolf and Kon-Tiki on draft, and Chardonnay. As a craft beer snob from Atlanta, I didn't know what to expect. But let me tell you, the Kon-Tiki was one of the most flavorful and refreshing drafts I've ever had. The pineapple and coconut combination was incredible but not overpowering. I sincerely hope Lazarus considers distributing or attending beer festivals in the near future — their lineup definitely deserves wider exposure. A huge shoutout to the team: the manager, Homer, and bartenders Katilyn and Mattix were incredibly friendly. They even took a beer shot with us to celebrate our 33rd “Meetaversary,” which made our visit to Austin even more memorable. Cheers to great beer, great people, and great memories!!

I’m here visiting my son from Bellingham, WA. I googled best breweries near me - picked your Airport Blvd. Location by ratings and proximity to my son’s home. Was super happy with my choice! I profess to be an IPA snob, and live a good hazy when it’s warm. Your Lightning Wolf delivered! Juicy, citrusy deliciousness! And your outdoor space had an amazing vibe. Felt like I could be home (with both coffee and beer in same spot), but warmer! Grabbed a 6-pk to go…still enjoying! Will be back on future visits!

Lazarus Brewing Company, which is located on East 6th Street in Austin, Texas, is a great spot for a drink + a bite to eat! The atmosphere inside of this space is warm, inviting, and the staff are really kind. The service is very efficient, even when the place is really busy! They have several draft beer options, all of which are brewed in-house. They have Beer-To-Go options as well, including 12 ounce beer cans + 32 ounce crowlers. As a non-beer drinker myself, I was hoping to try one of their Frozens during my first visit here (e.g. their Margarita or Pina Colada). Unfortunately, their machine was down, so I tried one of their Rosé options (as outlined on their wine list) instead. Honestly, this did the trick, because whatever I was served was delicious. :-) Regarding food, their Chiquito-sized Nachos are delicious - they are the perfect snack. I highly recommend this spot!

Bakery
Bar
Cisco's Restaurant Bakery & Bar is an iconic daytime institution in Austin, offering a modest decor and a side of local history. This OG Mexican restaurant has been serving classic breakfast dishes like migas, biscuits, and huevos rancheros since the mid-1900s. The bright blue building stands out on E Sixth and is known for its Tex-Mex fare and historical significance.
Fun historic restaurant in the heart of east austin. The service and atmosphere were great, it had tons of old charm and decor. As far as the food goes, it was all well priced and quite delicious. I would say there are no frills here, you get what you order. The food was simple and direct to the point. The biscuits were great and once I ran out of tortillas with my migas, I just used them to make breakfast sandwiches. Will definitely be coming back for a cheap, fun meal!

Stopped in 11/17/24 just after noon. It looked promising but fell short. The restaurant was not packed but service was really slow. Ordered the Migas plate which was not bad and ordered 2 tacos which were bland. My biggest knock on this place was the tortillas, they had that fake smell because they were not homemade and all the cook had to do was heat them up thoroughly so they wouldn't have that doughy texture. My server was nowhere to be found so I found another waitress and asked her to ask the cook if he could provide some fully cooked tortillas to replace the ones we had. Our waitress finally brought the new tortillas and said no one has ever requested them to be cooked thoroughly and that blew my mind. Anyhow, I'll pass on this place when visiting Austin in the future.

This restaurant is a delicious part of Austin’s history! The building is over a hundred years old and has been home to Cisco’s since 1950. While I enjoy all of the food, my favorite dish is the chicken fried steak (which reminds me of my mother’s) served with a side of veggies and a delicious biscuit. The biscuits are handmade fresh daily and served all day. You can even get a bag of biscuits to go. They serve breakfast all day, so go ahead and order pancakes and fajitas! I wish they were open later, a chicken fried steak would be a great way to end a night out on east 6th!

How have I lived in Austin for 12 years and never been to Cisco's? The place is bigger than it looks and features a cute diner style area as well as a couple of dining rooms. Our server was super friendly and answered all of our questions as we perused the menu. We started off by trying the Salsa Toxica. It's their spicy salsa but has a really unique flavor. Then we ordered the Migas and the Huevos Rancheros. The migas were full of chips and veggies and the ranchero sauce was lovely. After seeing the kitchen staff pulling fresh, house-made biscuits out of the oven, we knew we had to try them as well. I never thought I would say this, but one of the best biscuits I've ever had is from a Mexican restaurant. You absolutely have to try them!! They have such a lovely flavor and consistency. I truly look forward to returning to Cisco's for more meals and more biscuits!

A local Tex Mex place in East Austin with some amazing biscuits. I got the Migas with a side of toasted biscuits, and it was delicious. I spent under $20 and was very satisfied and full. The space is small but comfortable, like an old school diner. Parking is quite plentiful nearby on the street.

I came to Cisco’s for lunch with my gf, Austin local, who hadn’t been in years but was always impressed and wanted to bring it back to our list of places to eat lunch. We both had a lunch combo, which is $9 for a well portioned meal. We ordered chicken enchiladas and el pastor. I liked the el pastor the best, and their airy chips for snacking on. The tea tasted very watered down, but it was complimentary with a happy hour lunch entree. The Happy Hour Menu is available from 4-6 and all food and drink items offered on it are $6. We’ll be back soon!

We came for brunch, to meet up with friends who hadn’t been here since their youth. They claimed food taste has somewhat dropped. Perhaps due to new cooks and such. Regardless, we thought our food was of satisfactory Tex-Mex quality. This large yet cramped restaurant felt somewhat loud as we made our way to the back section for our seats. They have a lot of different pictures and such on their walls that I kept glancing at as I made my way to my seat.

I’m from Louisiana but we don’t have good Tex mex like ciscos. I was in Austin on a work trip. The tacos I ordered were delicious. I wish I could’ve took a pic of the food but it was delish

Mexican restaurant
Restaurant
Fresa's - South First offers a vibrant and colorful space with a patio and takeaway window, serving wood-grilled Mexican dishes and cocktails. The restaurant is known for its spacious outdoor patio with shaded seating under beautiful trees, creating a festive atmosphere. Their menu features delicious wood-grilled meats, including the popular achiote and citrus chicken served with various accompaniments. Guests can also enjoy refreshing aguas frescas to cool off on warm afternoons.
Wonderful experience. I came here with a large group (more than 10) during lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. The staff greeted and seemed us warmly and promptly. There were zero complaints about any of the food and many folks took something to go. The agua frescas are Al delicious and worth a try. My only complaint is parking: while the lot is large, folks tend to park really closely and/or exit the lot intended to go left on a busy street which slows down traffic. 10/10. 100% recommend.
A.T. G — Google review
Parking wasn’t difficult. The lot had plenty of spots. The patio has misters. They have little fans for flies if you ask. Tacos and sweet potatoes were great. The most memorable thing was that our server was the absolute best. She was so genuinely kind and attentive. There are plenty of restaurants with “good enough” service, but she was better than most. I don’t remember her name, but we sat on the patio for lunch on Friday.
Tiffany M — Google review
Really nice place for a friends or family dinner. Plenty of outdoor seating with cooling mist fans. Service was excellent. Bit pricey for the quantities, but food was really really good. We tried the Yucatan Spice chicken, Super Bol, the Shrimp plate and the Mari tacos. Oh the loaded queso is a must try. Definitely recommended.
Vicson V — Google review
We dined outside on patio which had a great ambiance. Tucked away off the street so no road noise which is nice. The service was very slow, inconsistent, but friendly. I sense this place is very understaffed for the amount of people that show. You have to pay for chips...not a true Mexican spot if you need to...and pay for each additional salsa. The queso dip had great flavor but had the same viscosity as milk. Tacos are $6 each and promptly fall apart. Tons of toppings but add no actual flavor to the taco, over flowing with bland ingredients, the best part being the salsa verde creme on the side. I feel as if it may have been an off night but plenty of detailed reviews on here show a similar experience with service. Maybe we'd just get the whole chicken and a couple of beers next time.....unsure since we had high expectations from word of mouth and it wasn't really great. Not a taco joint. Get something else.
Cason R — Google review
Food was good but the environment was gross. In the women's restroom, 1 of the 2 stalls was out of order and 1 of the 2 sinks was out of order. Paint is falling off the walls in the to-go area...if this place can't keep up with general health code (paint peeling), it makes me question what's going on in the kitchen.
Jillian L — Google review
I ordered a bunch of food and specifically asked for no avocado, not just because we're picky, I am allergic and they put avocado all over the tacos (not as a side salsa like they said). Apart from that, the one that I was able to eat was awful, no flavor at all and because of the price I was expecting something good, probably it was a bad day but I'm never coming back. Churros were the only good thing about this place, apart from that is really bad.
Joel R — Google review
excellent! we ordered their whole spicy chicken and it came with free refills. some of the best tasting water and the mexican street corn was an excellent side. we ate so much food for only $45. aesthetics and staff are also great. will be back again and again and again!
Soleil W — Google review
Amazing food, loved it! Staff on the other hand needs to be retrained. No one gave refills, very small cups, our waitress was the Dominican one. She had attitude the whole time. Didn't attend us. Rolled her eye whenever we asked for the bill and limes. Some one else took our order bc she was never around, someone else took our order and brought us the food, she was just hiding inside and ignoring us. I went inside and it was only 2 tables that werent hers. Out of a staff of 10 no one was giving anyone refills or on top of their game. Type of service to make you hate the place even if the food is great. Vibe was killed with the attitude. Hopefully the owners can take my review as insightful and not as a hater. I was a waitress before and this place definitely needs someone to be on top of these girls. Best of luck to the owners yourre tacos were hands down the best in austin🙏🏻

Enchiladas Y Mas is a Tex-Mex restaurant that has been serving up family recipes since 1994. The owners, with over 50 years of experience in the food industry, have received awards for their authentic Mexican cuisine. Known for their award-winning enchiladas, this festive and kid-friendly spot also offers breakfast options and strong margaritas available in small or large sizes.
My family and I have been going here for years. We live two hours away but anytime we’re in Austin. This is the place that we go to just outstanding food. Customer service and great people thank you for great service people. And wonderful delicious food.

Overall, I think this is probably a good spot. However what I had was inedible. The beef enchiladas were bland. Mostly just corn tortillas with 2 tbsp of beef inside. The beans were the worst beans I've had and the rice had a weird texture. Also the table salsa was so hot that I couldn't even eat it. The tortilla chips were excellent though! Great prices. Some other tables food looked much better. Just the beef enchiladas, beans, and rice are bad.
Arianna T — Google review
Arrived for lunch on Wednesday before 11 o’clock opening and there was a line formed already. We were seated quickly and soon had warm tortilla chips and spicy salsa in front of us to enjoy. Margaritas on the rocks were perfect, one with tajin. The only disappointment was the queso, it was like ballpark cheese. The entrees were exceptional and rival any other top Mexican food eateries in Austin. The crispy tacos were overstuffed and the guacamole was fresh and delicious with no preservative taste. The cheese enchilada were a top favorite. This small, quaint restaurant was like being in a small town neighborhood, regulars being greeted with hugs from wait staff. Can’t wait to return, will definitely be in a regular lunch rotation for us.
Dan B — Google review
So good! My friend and I split the fajitas for 2 and did not disappoint. The salsa was spicy compared to what we get in MI (no complaints) definitely recommend!
Gretchell H — Google review
As I approached the entrance at 2pm I noticed people sitting by the front entrance. This made me think they are on the waiting list. So I walked in and no waiting list and we were seated right away. I ordered tea and the Chef Special plate. They brought out complementary chips and some really good and spicy salsa. When the plate arrived it was huge and the food was piled high. From start to finish everything was delicious, cooked perfectly, and the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. Inside the place looked like it has been around for a while but clean. The waitress was helpful and courteous. What I liked the most was the price and the huge portions. As I was leaving notice again different set of people waiting outside by the front… never figured out what that was about? Either way this is a great place to enjoy Mexican food. 👍

Nothing fancy.. Old school Tex-Mex at its finest.. Just great service, great food, good drinks at reasonable prices. Exactly what you want in a restaurant.. One of my main go-to spots in Austin .
Jeremiah D — Google review
My husband and I stopped here for lunch today, we were in the mood for some Tex Mex and saw how many cars were outside, so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! The service was great, the salsa was AMAZING, and everything else we had was delicious! We will definitely be going back.
Jennifer Y — Google review
I’m torn, the atmosphere is chill, but honestly very run down and dirty- especially the blinds, We were impressed by the prices and the amount of food…until the main courses arrived. Enchiladas were filled and covered in processed cheese! I cannot wrap my head around Mexicans using processed cheese for anything, let alone enchiladas. Texmex is not Mexican. The guacamole was prepared with fresh avocados, the salsa was flavorful, so why skimp on the cheese? Honestly blasphemous to Mexicans,

Mexican restaurant
Restaurant
Joe’s Bakery & Coffee Shop is a beloved, family-owned establishment that has been serving up classic Mexican fare and bakery treats for over 75 years. Despite the changing landscape of East Austin, this iconic institution remains a steadfast presence, offering fluffy house-made flour tortillas filled with migas and an unbeatable carne guisada.
Joe's has a history back to 1935, but he actually bought it from his parents in 1962. With his brother-in-law, they opened their business on 7th Street. The brother-in-law left a few months later, amicably. Leaving, Joe to run it sixteen to eighteen hours a day. Relocated, the restaurant 2 doors down to an old lumber yard in 1969, where it still is today.. this is a true Austin icon. It's been around for more than forever, and it's always full, especially on the weekends. You can see from the pictures that usually we get something different, just so we can compare more. But she's a migas, freak, and I love migas, and theirs are incredible, the beans were really good. The bacon was absolutely amazing. If you like, really crispy and flavorable. Yeah, this was it. The attention from the server was pretty good. And you could just tell how many people knew each other coming and going and talking and enjoying it. This is one of the places that makes me really happy that I try to discover all these places.. And share them with y'all. They do have some bakery goods, and this was new this time. It says you have to order them from your table. But if you want your Mexican bakery items, they've got them.. Enjoy
Martin A — Google review
My husband has been getting his breakfast tacos here for years and finally brought me for breakfast! As soon as we entered, it was so nostalgic and reminded me of my valley days. It has that old school, authentic Mexican hole in the wall vibe. The walls are covered with memorabilia and photos of famous people that have stopped by. We even spotted two of the servers on some pictures that must’ve been over 10 years ago. You can tell they are loyal to this restaurant and love what they do! It was pretty busy around 10am on a Tuesday morning, but we spotted a booth that was available. Our server was busy but attended us as quickly as he could. We ordered a coffee to drink and it was such a good roast. Our server made sure it stayed refilled throughout our stay. For breakfast, my husband ordered the Joe’s special and I ordered the barbacoa plate. The prices are pretty expensive for breakfast but the quality of food was worth it. The flour tortillas are homemade and they were buttery and thin, just the way I like them. They were so good we had to order two more. They are smaller than I’m used to so we each had 3 total. My barbacoa was flavorful and not fatty at all. I did order some onion and cilantro on the side which I’m used to eating my barbacoa with but it did come at an upcharge. My eggs were cooked to perfection and the refried beans were delicious. I’m not a big fan of the way they cook their potatoes as they are round spears so my hubby ate those. My husband liked his carne guisada and the bacon was a little too fried for my liking but he sure ate it all. We ate it all up and left nothing on the plate. That’s how good it all was! On our way out, we stopped by at their bakery and saw their options. They offer a variety of traditional sweet bread. We decided to skip out this time as we were so full. We will definitely be back for sure! I will say their breakfast tacos are priced so well ($2.75 each) that i will probably order those next time. Overall, I highly recommend stopping by for your next breakfast and lunch plans!

I haven't been to this part of Austin in 2 decades and let me tell you this place is iconic! Same great taste and amazing service. Welcoming culture, beautiful music, absolutely terrific food and don't forget strong coffee.

Joe’s Bakery & Coffee Shop in East Austin is a must for anyone craving authentic Tex-Mex breakfast and traditional Mexican pastries. It’s family-owned and has been serving up some of the best comfort food in the city for generations. The menu is loaded with an extensive variety of breakfast tacos, each one made fresh and packed with flavor, but the real star is the cheesy migas con todo plate. Don’t leave without grabbing a few of their baked goods from the counter! The conchas and empanadas are pure nostalgia. Joe’s blends old-school Austin charm with the warmth of a family-run kitchen.
Cassedy C — Google review
The food delicious! The service (our waiter) was professional, kind, and took good care of us. We ended our meal with some fresh concha from the bakery. Incredible! We can't wait to return to Austin to eat at Joe's!
Elizabeth P — Google review
Such a big disappointment. I have not been here in YEARS and it has significantly changed. There was no greeting with hospitality. In fact the lady that introduced herself with the spiked hair was extremely rude with NO COMMUNICATION skills. The food was terrible. Store bought stale crispy tacos, beef not seasoned. Quesadillas and enchiladas chicken were very bland. The menudo was decent but they charge .75 for cilantro. Like what’s menudo not paired with onion and cilantro? Queso was entirely too thick. I can’t imagine what it does in the inside. This use to be such an amazing place but I will not be coming back here ever. We left most of the food on the plate. We spent 175.00 because it was a large group. Our server Ms Linda was nice and pleasant. She was the only breath of fresh air we encountered.
Jasmine T — Google review
Joe’s Bakery has great breakfast tacos. We tried the bean and cheese, chorizo & egg, bacon & egg tacos. Having lived in the RGV, this was comparable in terms of quality. Server Victor Garcia was great. Will for sure stop by the next time visiting Austin!

The flavors are bold, the vibe is cozy, and the bacon? Absolutely a must-try—crispy and unforgettable. Perfect for small groups looking to kick off the morning with something satisfying and local.

Tyson's Tacos is a laid-back stand with a funky covered patio that offers a variety of creative tacos. The vibe at Tyson's Tacos exudes the old Austin charm, with mismatched furniture and recycle/reuse-chic decor. The menu features tacos with unusual names inspired by regular customers, such as the Wild Feminist.
This spot is great because we came at 3 AM. For it being open so late you cannot complain and the food was good. The taco selection that they have is very vast and it makes you want to come back and try more than a while. Will you make friends with those people, right
Jared D — Google review
It's frustrating, and frankly, EMBARRASSING that in a state like Texas, known for its deep ties to Mexican and Tex-Mex culinary traditions, that THIS is the taco spot that garners such popularity in Austin. Tyson's Tacos has become a go-to name, yet what it consistently delivers is lukewarm, dry and uninspired food that would never survive in California, where taco culture thrives in authenticity, flavor, and pride. We are Texas! Tacos should be our thing! But somehow, California is running laps around us, with high-quality, street-style tacos on nearly every corner. The fact that an establishment like this is considered a staple here feels like a slap in the face to our cultural potential. Ain't nobody gonna say nuthin!?!?!!! What's worse is that this isn't just a one-off bad experience. The meat is consistently dry. The food is CONSISTENTLY served lukewarm...borderline room temperature...and that alone should raise food safety questions. But beyond temperature, where is the care? The seasoning? The soul? I had some duck tacos so dry that I almost choked swallowing them. What is going on? It's clear the management has chosen this low standard. That's what stings the most. You have the opportunity to represent Austin proudly with something exceptional, but instead, you double down on mediocrity and convenience, pushing out subpar food to customers who deserve better. The long lines don't validate the quality. But they do enable the mediocrity to continue. Y'all...Even BASIC Tex-Mex joints outshine Tyson's in flavor, authenticity, and execution. This place could be so much more...but it clearly doesn't want to be. That's the real shame.
Valerie — Google review
Welp a place that let's me build my own nachos! I'm not a fan of their beef so I substituted bacon instead and extra queso. I love nachos but find it challenging to locate a place that still makes them with melted cheese (queso). I've seen some other reviews and yes Tysons does not heavily season their food. There are items that I enjoy here like their chips and queso, build your own nachos and B is for Bacon taco. If you do nachos either order online so you can be specific on what you want on there or clearly communicate this when you order there since their nachos come with certain items like lettuce, pico and guacamole. Tysons is one of the few establishments that are still 24/7 and they have decent options. They provide quality customer service and reasonably quick service.
Quincy U — Google review
I’m only give 2 stars because the nachos were a good amount of food for the price (7.99) . But the flavor of the beans were tasteless. And the brisket was the worst i’ve ever had, also about 2/3 of the brisket was all fat. I don’t know if it was because the time i was there, it seemed that they gave me the leftovers or the bottom of the pan.

Tamale House East is a trendy Mexican spot known for its delicious breakfast and lunch offerings, as well as a charming patio. The restaurant is owned by the nieces and nephews of the late owner of the original Tamale House, carrying on his legacy with tasty tacos and affordable prices. While they don't just serve tamales, their breakfast tacos are particularly popular, featuring flavorful fillings like fluffy eggs, fried potatoes, thick-cut bacon, and fresh salsas.
I'm posting about this 5 star experience while sitting at the bar letting this deliciousness digest. I visited Tamale House as a final stop on my way back to Houston. I cannot recommend enough that you do the same! The food, the atmosphere, and the family that work here are all a joy. I feel like this place is a hidden gem, I came here for brunch a few weeks ago and really enjoyed my chilaquiles. We came back for dinner tonight and the Al pastor tacos were amazing. First time to Tamale House and most likely our last. Had the “migas” plate but I’m Not sure why that is called migas. Super disappointed, mostly crispy tortillas and the plate looked very unappetizing. Had to place my own order, tip and rate before getting our food. Wayyyy over priced! The place is beautiful but the sore on the, I guess hostess was uh, gross. Abreva girl! This is my first ever bad review, because it was bad y’all! Sorry Tamale House!

Recently ate here while visiting my friend who lives in Austin. We got in about an hour before they closed and received good service. Your place your order through your phone by scanning the code on the table. Had the chicken tamale with mole plate. It was very good, mole tasted like mole and the tamale was not dry. Would go here again.

Historic Tex-Mex restaurant on East Sixth offering extensive menu highlighted by tacos and tamales, carrying on a tradition since 1958. It has some of Austin's most beautiful patio space, and the indoor dining rooms are no less amazing. We loved their breakfast tacos made with outstanding homemade flour tortillas. The real standout is the phenomenal chipotle migas taco, with scrambled eggs and crispy corn tortilla chips that get tossed in queso with a smoky chipotle salsa, all on a freshly made flour tortilla. One review said: "It’s a rare chilaquiles-adjacent evolution of migas, and something that should belong in the Museum of Breakfast Tacos." Their namesake tamales are excellent too. They have a parking lot in front and street parking in the back.

The atmosphere is inviting and vibrant, making it an ideal spot to enjoy delicious meals without feeling weighed down afterward.

Love this spot! Appreciate that it’s gluten free and lots of dairy free options You can stop in just for a beverage or sit down for a whole meal. It’s still not a coffeeshop vibe where you can park yourself with a laptop. Small selection of seating for those just getting beverages. Staff is friendly and helpful. I’ve taken friends here and they don’t usually like it as much as I do if they’re not gluten free already. So I would save this spot for your health nut friends. Great options for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. Parking is pretty good here but fills up during peak times. The music was a little bit loud, too loud for my grandpa. Normal for Austin but not ideal for the elderly.

Great service makes up for the ok food. Took a risk and ordered a chicken sandwich breakfast style, the bun was soaked in maple syrup (maybe I should have asked prior to ordering but the menu wasn’t specific about it) so I didn’t enjoy it at all. The sweet potatoes were ok, but $22 for a chicken sandwich (what you see in the picture) that I could barely eat was very disappointing. The ginger/turmeric juice I ordered prior to my meal was amazing though.

The Eggs Benedict was amazing! The chicken sandwich was tasty, but the French toast part got a little soggy. The biscuits were good but a bit dry—luckily, the butter and jam helped. Definitely make a reservation! We waited a long time for a table, but the staff was super nice.

Always great to eat at a gluten free restaurant that’s knowledgeable about ingredients. The staff knew the menu well and had recommendations for certain allergies. The food was fresh and delicious. Since I'm going through some health issues right now, I've been looking for healthier restaurant options. When I saw this place on the My Health Forward website, I knew I had to try it. They're gluten-free and don't cook with seed oils, which is a big plus for me. I have to say, this is one of the few places I've eaten where I didn't feel heavy or bloated afterward--I just felt satisfied. I ordered the Farmhouse Breakfast, and it was hearty! I substituted the bacon with their chicken and the toast with their biscuit. Everything in the meal was delicious, but the smashed potatoes absolutely blew my mind. I definitely need to try their loaded smashed potatoes next time because if the plain ones were that good, I can only imagine how amazing the loaded ones will be! My husband got the Hot Chicken Breakfast Sandwich, and he really enjoyed it. We also tried the blueberry pancakes, which were okay--a little on the bland side. I didn't try the elixirs this time around, but I definitely plan to next time. I loved how light and satisfying this place was overall. Service was great and so was ambience.

Indian restaurant
Tex-Mex restaurant
Nasha is an Indian restaurant located in East Austin that offers a fusion of traditional Indian cuisine with a Texan twist. The restaurant prides itself on using the best and healthiest ingredients to create delicious dishes inspired by flavors from Mumbai to the Malvani coast of India. In addition to classic Indian dishes like tikka masala and vindaloo, Nasha also offers its own unique creations such as tacos, quesadillas, and enchiladas with an Indian flair.
This place is one of those special Austin gems! While we want it to succeed, we hope it doesn't get too crowded. That said, Nasha arrived in East Austin in 2014 a couple years after we did. Ever since, it's been our go to place for really solidly good Indian food. We love the homey, colorful atmosphere too and have celebrated birthdays and other fun times here. It's a great place for romance too. The beverages are refreshingly different. My fav is the cardamom margarita. Phil's is the curry margarita. Sometimes we order the Mexican Martini with a little added cardamom. Food: The Tika Masala is hands down one of our favorites; rich, creamy spicy sauce, but not too spicy, over rice definitely activates the endorphins. The Biryani is also a favorite and perfect to bring home for leftovers. The garlic hot nan (bread) is to die for. And we love ordering papadam (crunchy lentil wafers) with the green chili sauce that seems to contain both cilantro and possibly mint. One cannot forget the samosas-little fried empanadas, stuffed with goodness, which are served steaming hot. We've come here so much, we've gotten to know the owners who are just wonderful people! Overall this is a true Austin gem, friendly and warm, and with amazing Indian fare.

Everything we ordered was good. Lots of curry options and some interesting fusion dishes. Highly recommended ordering goat in curries. The goat was super tender and flavorful. Will come back and try other dishes.

One word… IMPECCABLE 👌 the food reminds me of my friends mom’s homemade Indian food…Very traditional with fresh onions on top of the salsa (chefs kiss!). And with the infusion of the Mexican culture meals as well was mind blowing 🤯!!! Highly recommend this spot! Oh and the happy hour is until 7 & is 🔥
Victoria R — Google review
Wow! I had the most amazing experience tonight! I placed a takeout order and was pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is stunning and the aroma is simply mouth-watering while you wait for your food! You can't help but wonder if someone's mom is back making homemade samosas and more. I have my order and I can't stop devouring it. I ordered the tiki masala, I might be spelling it wrong. I didn't expect to love it so much since I thought I've tried them all before. But let me tell you, as a food critic, this is hands down the best item on the menu for me! I am genuinely amazed by it, especially knowing it's made from cashews that they import themselves. I picked to have lamb with my order and it is so delicious! It's truly out of this world! I'm absolutely in love. I'm already looking forward to going back tomorrow! Haha, this is definitely the best restaurant Indian -Spanish vibe in ATX.

Food was okay not great or even close. They used the same gravy sauce for 3 different dishes we ordered. Don’t recommend, definitely a 2 out of 10!
Jimmy J — Google review
Very artistic, excellent design, and has a nice looking menu. Points deducted for a price to food quality ratio. The food is good, but the prices are higher. You're always lose points for that. Got samosas, two small entrees, two cocktails... More than 72+tip, more like $88. Service was good. Cocktails were really good! Food was alright, but not $70+ good. Don't like the garam masala was not creamy or good enough. It was almost like grainy. The chicken and the enchilada was dry. Seemed like it lacked flavor. Not saying I wouldn't go back, but I would be a little more careful with what I ordered probably.
Johnny ! — Google review
It was not at all what we were expecting and it was a fantastic surprise! We had the naan, tikka con queso, chicken/paneer quesadilla, and verde masala, and all of them were amazing! Prices were great, service was prompt and friendly, and parking is a huge bonus.
Thomas A — Google review
Food was mid, but what was worse was their blatant disrespect of the Hindu religion and culture. There was an idol of a god, Ganesha, placed amidst liquor bottles. There were multiple other locations present that the idol could've been kept very respectfully, such as on a floating shelf across the room. It was really disturbing to see they chose to go with such a disrespectful location. It's really not kitchsy or fun to do that with idols that hold such significance to other people.

Bar
Gabrielas Downtown is a vibrant and trendy spot located in the Bouldin Creek area, offering a mix of modern Mexican dishes and classic favorites. The restaurant features an expansive patio where guests can enjoy their meals along with margaritas and mezcal cocktails. The menu includes a variety of options such as gorditas, flautas, tostadas, tacos, burritos, carnitas, barbacoa, and authentic menudo.
Went to Gabriella’s Downtown Austin for brunch and it did not disappoint! I ordered the chilaquiles and they were absolutely delicious. I also had a Bloody Mary, nothing too fancy in presentation but super well-blended and tasty. I sat at the bar to keep it quick, and the bartender was awesome, super attentive and checked in on us often. Overall, great food, great service, and great drinks. Definitely recommend!

I always wanted to try this location because of the views. I had gone to the south location plenty of times and of course, it’s much bigger. This location is very small and the wait was long but we did have a group of 10. I did call ahead of time and they still had us wait an hour. The host wasn’t that friendly and I would stick to my south location when my family and friends come into town. The food is always 10/10 and we all love Birria tacos. It is a bit pricey but worth it ◡̈ my family from California really enjoyed this place they said it felt like they were at a day club and didn’t want to leave (lol). Our server was very nice and she took her time I’m sad I forgot her name but she really made sure once she talked to us that she took care of us and got everything we needed.

Music was great. The food and drinks were delicious. A must stop when I am in Austin. Ordered the popper combo, the tacos dorados, tortitas de papa and margarita flights. Priscilla was a great server.

Perfect place for brunch! My friends and I tried Gabrielas, and it did not disappoint! Food was amazing! I got the chilaquiles and they were delicious. Our server was amazing and the mimosa towers were 10/10!

Such a fun spot for brunch! Food and drinks were so good, vibes were on point, and the live DJ made it even better. Definitely coming back next time I’m in Austin!
Nany C — Google review
Don’t Bother Unless You Only Want Steak Parking? None. Service? Meh. Drinks? Gross. Menu? Only in Spanish, which is fine if the staff helps you. I asked for chicken tacos and got flautas. The only thing worth anything was the steak, and even that couldn’t save the experience. No free valet, no real guidance, and the vibe was off. Save your money, your outfit, and your time.

I would not consider this “Tex-Mex” but Authentic Mexican food. Authentic, tasty and flavorful food! Amazing service, stiff drinks, economical prices, and awesome views and a very organic feel (Green-life) all in ONE! No complaints. We’re visiting and coming back before we leave Austin, TX.

Pricilla was amazing! We are all servers and she gave insanely good service! We loved the vibe, the food, drinks, and ultimately the service! DEFINITELY COMING BACK! Also happy hour deals are some of the best in Austin! $5 margaritas and cheap apps!

Vamonos is a vibrant Tex-Mex restaurant located on Airport Blvd, co-founded by Restaurateur Chris Martinez and local chef Shawn Cirkiel. The menu offers classic Tex-Mex dishes such as Queso Blanco Con Carne, Original Nachos Ignacio, and Tacos made with locally sourced ingredients and hormone-free products. The restaurant also features a discounted Ranch Style Queso Blanco during happy hour.
A great spot in the neighborhood! The staff here is very friendly and the food is always so fresh! I love their habanero salsa and I recommend trying the power bowl! Super healthy and so much flavor! The best texmex spot around! This time we also tried the nachos and I was very impressed. The salads are also a great option and they come with a fantastic dressing.

We can't speak highly enough of vamonos. We are critical and continually come back. We love the fresh chips and salsa and ask for the habanerno when we sit down - it goes nicely with their table salsa. I ordered the chicken burrito, which I loved and took half home. My boyfriend ordered the pablos plato and he loved it. The multiple sauces made the dish exciting! The service is also great. We highly recommend!
Emily — Google review
My family loves Vamonos! Great outdoor seating for families with kids under 11 years old who cannot be vaccinated yet. The salsa, tortillas, and skirt steak are phenomenal. It is top-tier TexMex. I dug in before I took the pictures. This is a place to try if you haven't yet and a place to return if it have. This is not a big deal but our only issue today is that the outdoor fans are loud so the waitstaff, which was excellent, may need to repeat themselves often because the fans are drowning them out. But please keep the fans on when it's 90+ degrees...they are a necessity.
Brynn R — Google review
We had a LocalBuzz foodie meet up here the other day and now Vamonos is where I’m coming for my next happy hour. The inside is so colorful, filled with fairy lights, plants and candles to set the mood. I actually thoroughly enjoyed the authentic Mexican music that they played, it definitely elevated the experience. I went for a classic Margarita on the rocks and I will honestly say that it was one of the best I’ve had in a while! I loved the chips and salsa, because you could tell that it was made in house and with great care. The chicken quesadilla was pretty good, super cheesy and fulfilling. I can’t wait to come back and try everything else!

This place is an A+ The food is really great and it has a perfect balance between savory and spicy. The place has adequate parking and they have great lunch especials. We ordered Queso Blanco (best I've ever tasted), Carnitas, Tacos and Quesadillas for the kids. Cocktails and Margaritas are amazing. The staff is very friendly and professional. They have vegan options available.

Great patio...covered...misters...everything Austin requires. The Watermelon-pepper Maragaritas were fantastic and the service prompt and very friendly. The food, however, really seals the deal. This is a hidden gem in Austin. The carnitas tacos and folded enchiladas--wow! Seriously, I regret finding this place so late in my trials to find great unknowns...why did I wait over a year from identifying a place to go to eating there? Fabulous food and atmosphere to hang out at and we'll be back in numbers for sure! 😀
Eric B — Google review
The food here is disgusting! I went on Thursday like 10min after they opened and ordered the beef enchiladas. Bad idea! The food wasn’t hot, more like luke warm, the enchiladas had like a weird sweet taste, almost like tomato paste or ketchup. I took two bites and threw my napkin over the plate. I tried to get full from the tortilla chips. Ugh I’ve passed by the place many times and never noticed it. A few of my coworkers said the parking lot is never full which should have been a red flag.
Chandra W — Google review
Great Mexican martinis. They do some things really well. Great nachos. I really like their enchiladas and there are lovely sweet people who work there. It's a great Happy Hour too! Give it a try if you haven't. They have easy parking too
