Brunch restaurant
El Alma, a Mexican restaurant and rooftop bar in Austin, is named after its renowned chef, Alma Alcocer-Thomas. The multi-tiered establishment offers inventive Mexican cuisine and cocktails in a chic setting adorned with local art. Its main attraction is the rooftop patio, which provides stunning views of downtown Austin from Barton Springs Road.
I’d heard so much about El Alma, and I finally made it—wish I had gone sooner! 🌮 Ordered the 2-taco lunch plate with duck and salmon tacos—both were incredible! 🍹 Great drinks and a lively atmosphere, even during a busy lunch rush. 🍰 Save room for dessert! You won’t regret it. A fantastic Austin spot—highly recommend!

Delicious and innovative flavors, fun atmosphere, and great service! My friends and I found this place for dinner while visiting Austin. We lucked out last minute because a reservation canceled, so we got seating on the rooftop - that was a fun experience. We ordered the queso blanco y rojo (great!), the ceviche (great!), the ahi tuna ceviche tostada (I was so happy with this - lots of flavor!!), the sweet potato relleno (yum!), and the enchiladas (great!). We really enjoyed this meal - I love flavor combos, and they delivered! The ambiance inside and out is fun. I highly recommend, and I’ll be back for the sho tuna ceviche tostadas!!!
John T — Google review
We go here every year for my Wife's birthday and we love it. Great food and drinks. The quesos are amazing, the margs and cocktails are great too. El Alma is a great blend of high quality Mexican food and drinks with an accessible atmosphere for even the most casual of diners.
Dakota D — Google review
Recommend… they have a great happy hour! The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because the table my party was sat at was dirty when we were seated and it wasn’t busy at all so it was just a little gross but after it was cleaned off the rest of the experience was great!
Lexie N — Google review
Amazing food and experience! We had zero wait at lunchtime on a Saturday. I got the shrimp enchiladas with the tomato chipotle sauce and they were amazing. Their chips are also some of the best I have ever had. Highly recommend!
SethBM — Google review
Fantastic experience. Fun atmosphere. Friendly and efficient service. And the menu was outstanding! We started out with guac and queso which were both great. For tacos I ordered the al pastor and chicken tinga and they were delicious. And I can’t forget the cocktails— my favorite was the como la flor!
Anastasia — Google review
El Alma absolutely delivered! My wife and I stopped in after a long day on the road—not super hungry, but wanted something light. We ordered the ceviche clásico and it was incredible. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. The margaritas were top notch—easily some of the best we’ve had in Austin. We sat upstairs and, yeah, it was a little warm, but the view and the vibe totally made up for it. Great atmosphere, great service, and an overall fantastic experience. Can’t wait to come back when we’re hungrier!
Stephen B — Google review
Great Mexican food, drinks, and ambiance. A little pricey for what you get, but the experience makes it worthwhile. A beautiful winding rock stairwell takes you up to their rooftop deck where you can watch the birds, listen to the Cicadas, and enjoy the Austin weather near the river, while sipping on a Clásica Margarita or a delicious frozen Mangorita with a Chile rim (I had both, just to be safe). Food and service get docked one star because there was silver skin on the steak, which shouldn't happen at this price, and our appetizer (Ahi Tostadas, which were great), didn't come out until the rest of the food had arrived. Otherwise, it was yummy and the staff were very friendly. We'd definitely go back!

Mexican restaurant
ATX Cocina, located in Downtown Austin, offers a modern Mexican culinary experience with a touch of glam. The upscale eatery features generously portioned, gluten-free dishes that are perfect for sharing. The menu includes elevated takes on traditional Mexican fare, such as Carne Asada with mole pozole and miso-marinated Big Glory Bay Salmon. The restaurant's stunning interior design and specialty cocktails made with mezcal and tequila make it an ideal spot for special celebrations.
Great restaurant, but more pricey and I’m not confident the highly priced entrees are worth it. We actually leaned into ordering a wide variety of appetizers and loved it. But because of this we didn’t order as many expensive entrees. The only entree we ordered was the short rib and while it was impressively tender, I felt the flavor in the sauce was a bit underwhelming. The appetizers were great. The queso and guac were fun. In particular the queso because it was served with little tacos so it was like you were making little quesadillas. The sopes were yummy but not very flavorful. The Caesar salad was good - crunchy lettuce. And the dessert - three chocolate was amazing. Easily one of my favorite items we tried. I also had the non alcoholic coconut drink and this was so fun and delicious. Big fan. Service was good. The restaurant is huge and there is a lot of patio seating too. It is loud inside.
Ellen M — Google review
Amazing, loved it! We went there for my birthday and the food was delicious and portions were very generous. My partner and I shared the Caesar salad (MASSIVE, could be shared between 3 or 4 people easily), the machete which was delicious - steak was perfect, and papas (potatoes). At the end we had the lime sorbet and we wouldn’t normally get something like that but would absolutely get it again next time. Prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and portions. Food came out super quick and our server was very friendly and made great recommendations. They’re located next/attached to a parking garage. I heard there’s valet service but we just parked in the garage and it was only $8 for two hours. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely the best upscale Tex-mex food! The bar itself is a work of art, so beautiful. Good lighting good music amazing food! The service is also top notch and the drinks are intriguing. They pair well with the food. We loved it here and I’ll definitely be back.

We dined here for a corporate meeting on Cinco De Mayo. It was a Monday in 2025. This restaurant was full of energy & extremely busy but they didn’t miss a beat! The margaritas were delicious, food even better, & experience/service were on point! We had a party of nine and we were able to order each off the menu if we had one more person we would have needed to make preset arrangements for the menu prior. I highly recommend this restaurant in Austin Texas. This would be great for personal or professional meals. I want to go back as soon as possible. Appetizers were awesome. We asked our waitress for recommendations & she did an awesome job. The meals were just delicious! Our desserts were so great that I didn’t even get an opportunity to photograph them. Everyone just dug in! They had the very important basketball game on Celts vs. Knicks so at the end of the night, the place was roaring. It was loud there but in a good way. We had a blast!

Really great dinner on the patio! Our group tried a few masas, raw dishes, the filet and a Caesar salad. Everything was interesting and tasty with fun flavors. We finished with the chocolate tres leches and it was an excellent finish to the meal! *the chocolate is underneath 😜)

Overall had a delicious dinner here! Food: We had the machete which was our FAVE. So tasty and delicious. Queso fundido: must try! Was very authentic and the fresh tortillas are a plus. Brisket: Was good, but would try the steak next time Papas: spicy but tasty! The service was ok, I’m not sure if our waiter didn’t like us our what but he had a bit of an attitude with us. Would definitely come back though, worth checking out while in Austin.

Airwrecka at the bar was great. She really took care of us! Gave me a surprise birthday drink too! Super friendly and great service. The food was amazing. We ate everything! The vibe is definitely cool Austin vibes.

The foods it’s outstanding, delicious and the presentation it’s perfect, the server recommended the best foods, The appetizer Hamachi it’s a must try. Crab Rellano it’s a must try Carney asada it’s a must try. I never had such an amazing taste and flavors food so delicate and high and like this before. I love eating out with my husband but this restaurant has the best foods in Austin! The service it’s so professional, I love the team servers here they do a great job insuring the table is attended to. Very clean restaurant.

Taco restaurant
Cuantos Tacos is a casual dining spot that offers a variety of Mexico City-style street tacos and quesadillas. The menu features flavorful and well-seasoned options, including popular choices like barbacoa, brisket, and carnitas tacos. In addition to these classics, the eatery also serves up more adventurous options such as pork stomach (buche), Mexican chorizo (longaniza), and beef cheek (cachete) tacos.
I had a great experience at Cuantos Tacos in Austin. I tried the champiñones tacos and a costra, and both were delicious—juicy, flavorful, and packed with a good balance of cilantro and seasoning. Be prepared though: these are definitely on the wetter, messier side (I’d call them “sloppy tacos”), so grab some extra napkins. Friends I was with had the suadero tacos and also raved about them—some even said they were the best tacos they’ve ever had. The fresh lime, green and red salsas, and a cold Mexican Coke really tied it all together. Authentic, flavorful, and worth the stop.
Austin L — Google review
We got the $16 platter with one of each taco and we were pleasantly surprised! The beef cheek and pork stomach were our favorites and let me tell you the mushroom taco was probably the spiciest item there! The parking is a bit annoying and the picnic area isnt really clean/nice so we ate in the car. However, the food is well worth it if you're in the area, and I will be back again and again and again!
Kripa — Google review
This was my first meal in Austin and it absolutely smashed. Cuantos is a food truck around a lot of other food trucks and a shaded area with benches. I ordered one of each taco, and every single one of them was delicious. The mushroom taco was definitely the most unique, and the stomach was my favorite. The sauces are also wonderful- there’s a spicy brown sauce and a tasty green one. One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time.
Billy T — Google review
Came to Cuantos on a San Antonio-Austin trip from multiple friends' recommendations - and so glad we did! Cuantos Tacos is a truck located in the larger food truck park, with ample parking and picnic tables - two portapotties also. We came around 6pm on Grand Prix Friday in Austin and didn't wait long. Staff were super fast and friendly. I ordered the beef cheek and pork stomach tacos, and they were SO packed with flavor. I would have ordered more if I wasn't so full from the day's BBQ. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth, and the tacos really respect the ingredients, they don't fuss with extraneous toppings. All in all, will definitely come back to Cuantos - hopefully again this trip!
Sammi — Google review
Al Pastor street tacos were the bomb! Made to order! Atmosphere was good lots of shade. Food truck park!
Gina J — Google review
This taco truck is a solid spot! Good tacos simply done. Nothing crazy but they taste great! They have a few tables out there but mostly covered in bird poop. Limited street parking and the tables aren’t covered.
Jared D — Google review
Excellent authentic Mexican tacos, fresh, delicious cachets, street tacos, great sauces, outdoor tables, need to pave area was very dusty, fast and reasonable price pack your patience, it’s worth it!!
Linda C — Google review
The tacos were loaded with meat, and the salsas were not too spicy. Flavorful. They made our order very fast. Carnitas, suadero, cachete 👌.

Mexican restaurant
Bar
Fonda San Miguel is a renowned restaurant that has been influential in shaping the perception of Mexican cuisine in the United States since its establishment in 1975. The colorful hacienda-style space offers a sophisticated interpretation of traditional Mexican dishes. With consulting from Diana Kennedy, it has played a crucial role in defining interior Mexican food both locally and nationally.
We went here for a birthday dinner and had a great dining experience. As a vegetarian, I wasn’t blown away by the limited vegetarian/vegan options on the menu, but the great service was what made it a 5⭐️ meal. The ambience was lovely, right from the entry doorway, to the antechamber and the main dining spaces (we sat in the central space, but there were two other spaces as well). The menu is quite pricy, however it was great to see that reflected in the service as well - our server (Jennifer?) was attentive and polite, and also packed up our food for us after the meal. For drinks we got margaritas - one with lemon and another with watermelon: both tasted great (we’re also quite potent). The queso fundido was melty and delicious - served with corn and flour mini tortillas, the corn tortillas were very good. The sweet potato was actually the best tasting item (we ordered it based on an Instagram reel): perfectly steamed and pan fried. The chipotle shrimp dish was good. The vegetable enchiladas were also decent but nothing great. As it was a birthday meal, the très leches we ordered came with a greeting (not complimentary though) - it was great with mango and mint. It was served with a mango sorbet with granita which was a little strange in its flavor. Overall this was a great restaurant for a special dinner.
Malavika K — Google review
Love this place! The art and paintings all around are just spectacular, it really feels like stepping into Mexico — almost like being in San Miguel de Allende. The service was excellent and the food was good as well. The only downside was that the bar closed without us being told. It would have been nice if our server had let us know and given us a last call, because when I asked for another margarita I was told the bar was already closed. Maybe just a reminder for the staff to announce when the kitchen or bar is about to close would make the experience even better.
Ana F — Google review
Food was great! Service was mediocre. Felt pushy to order specific things. We went on our wedding anniversary and it didn't feel special. No one mentioned it from the reception to the server. Not asking for much but to pick somewhere to celebrate our special occasion, specify it on our reservation, and not even get an acknowledgement is pretty sad. Not asking much. We spent almost $200 total on 2 drinks, 1 appetizer, and 2 entrees. I ate here with my friends before for her moving away and you all acknowledged and celebrated when we dined in. Parking here is limited and spills onto neighborhood street parking.
Michelle K — Google review
Awesome atmosphere, great service including free valet parking. The margaritas are STRONG! Food is super flavorful and the tortillas are all made fresh in house. We loved the entire meal and highly recommend. Just don’t eat lunch so you can have proper space for all the heavy Mexican food.
Brennan R — Google review
What a wonderful meal on so many levels! The wagu beed al carbon tacos melt in your mouth. The cauliflower tacos were as delicious as they were beautiful. The trees leches came with a scoop of mango sorbet. Then the ambiance was every bit as good as the food. My wife declared this restaurant as our new celebration restaurant.
John S — Google review
Atmosphere here was fantastic! Love the location and how everything flowed. The food was very tasty. We had Camarones, tostadas appetizers, al pastor tacos, and a classic marg! The camarones was quite large — lots of food to soak up. Slightly spicy but very tasty. The tostadas were amazing — loved these so much and the variety was perfect to get a taste of everything. The Al pastor was also good. Smaller in size but so tasty. My biggest critique was how the waiter we had was honestly a bit unprofessional, seemed rushed and that was inconvenienced him. Not a fan of being rushed during an expensive dinner. The price point for the dishes also did not match up. $30 for 3 pastor tacos? That is crazy. This is something I encourage people to review. The food is tasty but doesn’t live up to the price point.
Matthew P — Google review
Came here with a friend for dinner and had a very pleasant experience. All of the food was delicious and portions were just right. I ended up having a small bone in my chicken and had to return my dish but the waitstaff were extremely courteous about it and handled the situation great. The suiza sauce and tres leches really stood out for me and my friend enjoyed her tostadas as well!
Lena — Google review
I really love eating this place when I visit Austin, but tonight I had to do a pick up order. The fish was delicious but you cannot forget to debone a fish before serving. It could really hurt somebody. But for me I just ate my fish while carefully fishing shards of bone from my mouth in between chews. Very disappointing for a restaurant at this price point.

Mexican restaurant
Suerte is a contemporary restaurant that offers interior Mexican specialties, snacks, beer, wine, and craft cocktails. Executive chef Fermin Nunez leads the culinary team and brings a refined touch to the menu. The restaurant features surprising chip-and-dip choices, cold and raw dishes like ceviche, as well as hearty options such as goat barbacoa and wagyu New York strip prepared in the Mexican style. The vegetable selection is also noteworthy for its flavorful offerings.
Loved everything I ordered on the menu and special shout out to the tres leches cake which was outstanding. I especially loved their ceviche and tuna appetizers as well - very fresh and cirtrusy. Drinks were amazing - I had the melon frozen drink and would highly recommend. My friend had a non-alcoholic cocktail which was also excellent.
Zen T — Google review
One of the best in Austin for sure. Better than Este! I recommend reservations, there was a line before they even opened. Parking is a bit tricky, super small lot but paid street parking available. The staff was friendly and cool. The vibe inside was dark and moody, lots of conversations. Their tequila selection was sooo impressive. I hate when you go to a place and ask for a fancy tequila and they are out of it. They were also SO quick with the drinks. Impressively fast, we were never left thirsty. The food was incredible. Loved the ceviche with the apple broth. The tuna hibiscus aqua chile was great too. Loved the frijoles de veneno AND OMG THE HOUSE MADE TORTILLAS. Also, you have to get the sweet papas (at the bottom of the menu). Amazing. Loved every bite. The desserts were impressive too. The seasonal scoop was actually our favorite bite, lavender. So gentle and smooth. The chocotaco is a MUST. Not like the one you ate as a kid! We stayed for over 2 hours, left stuffed and happy.
Sarah H — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed our date night here. While the cocktails weren’t 100% to our liking, we truly enjoyed the rest of the menu. Our top choices were the skirt steak tacos and tres leches. Absolutely delicious! We will be back!
Tatiana L — Google review
The place is beautiful, the service was great, and the food was absolutely delicious. I can truly say the ingredients taste authentically Mexican. I ordered a quesadilla since we arrived about 15 minutes before dinner time, and they kindly told me I could wait if I wanted to order from the dinner menu — but honestly, the quesadilla was amazing! My son had tacos and my husband ordered a tlayuda, and everything tasted fantastic. The only downside was that we had just arrived after almost a 4-hour road trip and were starving. The portions are more like appetizers, not full meals — perfect for snacking, but not enough if you’re really hungry. The prices are also on the higher side. I ordered a sope from the dinner menu (I imagined something about the size of a street taco), but when it arrived it was tiny — more like a bite-sized snack! We couldn’t help but laugh; it was delicious, but gone in one bite 😂. Overall, great flavors, wonderful service, and a lovely atmosphere — just keep in mind that the portions are small and prices are not cheap.
Isva G — Google review
A lovely experience at a bucket list restaurant. Suerte is a must-eat, and it is a love letter to food. The location is lovely, and the decor is modern but you don’t feel ill at ease. The wait staff is stellar, and are truly superstars! My group was waited on by Emily, who was fantastic- but we met other faces too! They’re great at customer service, from friendly conversation to accommodating allergies. The experience was seamless. The food was better than I could have ever expected, especially the carnitas, and their lovely hibiscus drinks and dessert. Every dish was its own experience that I can remember distinctly, nothing blended together in my memory. Their tortillas live up to everything I read about them. Trust me, you’ve gotta get desserts- my best friend cried over the Tres Leches cake! For guests with sensory needs, Suerte can be a bit busy on the inside- I recommend outdoor seating for a quieter experience (I know, outdoors in a big city isn’t usually quiet, but it was for us!). The inside is lively and bustling. The price can vary! You can eat for around 30 dollars a head before tip, but the best experience for a group of four for us cost about ~59 dollars per person, tip included. Their family style dishes would probably feed two people if you only order one. We ended up getting three, with sopes. Thank you Suerte team!!!

I love these Suadero tacos so much! It’s like taking a bite and feeling like you’re on vacation. These tacos definitely elevate your taste buds and bring a smile to your face. If there were ever a food to do a happy dance to, it’s these tacos. A must try!

I ordered the mixed chilaquiles with red and green sauce, and both were really good! The flavors were delicious, and the sauces had just the right touch. Chase, our waiter, was super friendly and provided excellent service.

Such a nicely designed restaurant and lovely atmosphere. Antonio was a great server. We had sopes, flautas, tetelas, barbacoa, and a chocotaco. Everything masa was delectable. The drinks were great too-we will be returning 😮‍💨

Licha's Cantina is a casual eatery offering creative Mexican cuisine and drinks in a charming outdoor setting. Situated on the lively East Sixth Street, it attracts a weekend crowd seeking delicious food and refreshing beverages. The menu features house-made huaraches, tlacoyos, tacos, and sopecitos with an array of toppings. The highlight is the flavorful lengua served in a spicy-sweet guajillo peanut salsa.
This place is AWESOME! Super cool and fun place to eat. Incredible food. Best green salsa in Austin. I LOVE Licha’s!

The vibe was so so good. Music was amazing but a little too loud. Food was nice however, the quesadillas were too dry. Guacamole was too good. The salsa’s were great. Drinks were good too. Overall this place is nice for its vibe and hanging out with friends and we look forward to come back to do our margarita pitcher afternoon soon!
Ankita G — Google review
Quite possibly some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Let me start with the chips and salsa: the green sauce has a creamy consistency to it but is actually spicy. The red sauce is less spicy but similar consistency with a strong smoky flavor to it. It was so good, I used it with my mains as well and devoured all the sauce. Now let me get to the conchita pibil I got. The corn tortillas were super soft and warm, and served to you inside aluminum wrap to keep it warm. It comes with guacamole and pickled onions that appear house made - nothing out of a jar or can here. The stewed pork was fantastic and extremely flavorful and tender. All the individual ingredients in this dish are thoughtfully curated and made in house. By far the best Mexican I’ve had so far in Austin and highly recommend it. Shout-out to Juan, the bartender also!

Loved this place! Food and atmosphere were amazing. Lots of gluten free and meatless options that are clearly marked on the menu. I was so excited to see this isn’t traditional Austin Tex-Mex…this is the real deal. Will definitely be back!

Great food. Drinks were ok. Love the vibe, but it was extremely hot and humid(even for Austin).
Justin B — Google review
Absolutely knocked my socks off. We sat outside and the atmosphere was great, our 2 year old was entertained by the decor and lights so we actually got a decent meal. The food was AMAZING and out waiter Jose was always there when we needed him but not pushy. Cocktails were top notch. Cant recommend enough.

For 2-4 people, this place is an absolutely incredible time! Prices are good for the food, I didn't look around the alcohol menu much. I'd imagine it is not as great the more amount of people in your group because there are lots of smaller tables. Food was incredible Music is on the louder side, I'm not complaining, and I wouldn't bring my grandma there. Staff came in clutch on last second things we wanted, you gotta wave em down, but their response time was rapid, so it was worth it to have to be slightly assertive for the uninterrupted conversations. -QR Code menus, and upon request, physical menus -One of the women who was working called it "Mexican Soul Food" when I asked her what best describes the food they serve. I totally agree
William D — Google review
From a humble but cute outside appearance to a burst of originality and creativity on the inside. We first started with the complimentary salsa that consisted of a green (avocado and jalapeno) and an orange (roasted chili). Not overly spicy with a kick on the backside. The Fundido was a rich thick cheese with a lovely caramelized bottom. The tortillas were so fresh with a great corn flavor and tender texture. The star of the dinner was the scallops served with an olive and caper sauce. The bread served with it was a fabulous vehicle for the sumptuous sauce. The scallops were tender and cooked perfectly. The TresLeches was good, but not the best weve ever had. We will definitely go back and might plan a Chistmas Holiday party there due to the chillled laid back atmosphere. The little patio is so cute!!

Bakery
Mexican restaurant
Restaurant
Joe’s Bakery & Coffee Shop is a beloved, family-owned establishment that has been serving up classic Mexican fare and bakery treats for over 75 years. Despite the changing landscape of East Austin, this iconic institution remains a steadfast presence, offering fluffy house-made flour tortillas filled with migas and an unbeatable carne guisada.
Joe's has a history back to 1935, but he actually bought it from his parents in 1962. With his brother-in-law, they opened their business on 7th Street. The brother-in-law left a few months later, amicably. Leaving, Joe to run it sixteen to eighteen hours a day. Relocated, the restaurant 2 doors down to an old lumber yard in 1969, where it still is today.. this is a true Austin icon. It's been around for more than forever, and it's always full, especially on the weekends. You can see from the pictures that usually we get something different, just so we can compare more. But she's a migas, freak, and I love migas, and theirs are incredible, the beans were really good. The bacon was absolutely amazing. If you like, really crispy and flavorable. Yeah, this was it. The attention from the server was pretty good. And you could just tell how many people knew each other coming and going and talking and enjoying it. This is one of the places that makes me really happy that I try to discover all these places.. And share them with y'all. They do have some bakery goods, and this was new this time. It says you have to order them from your table. But if you want your Mexican bakery items, they've got them.. Enjoy

My husband has been getting his breakfast tacos here for years and finally brought me for breakfast! As soon as we entered, it was so nostalgic and reminded me of my valley days. It has that old school, authentic Mexican hole in the wall vibe. The walls are covered with memorabilia and photos of famous people that have stopped by. We even spotted two of the servers on some pictures that must’ve been over 10 years ago. You can tell they are loyal to this restaurant and love what they do! It was pretty busy around 10am on a Tuesday morning, but we spotted a booth that was available. Our server was busy but attended us as quickly as he could. We ordered a coffee to drink and it was such a good roast. Our server made sure it stayed refilled throughout our stay. For breakfast, my husband ordered the Joe’s special and I ordered the barbacoa plate. The prices are pretty expensive for breakfast but the quality of food was worth it. The flour tortillas are homemade and they were buttery and thin, just the way I like them. They were so good we had to order two more. They are smaller than I’m used to so we each had 3 total. My barbacoa was flavorful and not fatty at all. I did order some onion and cilantro on the side which I’m used to eating my barbacoa with but it did come at an upcharge. My eggs were cooked to perfection and the refried beans were delicious. I’m not a big fan of the way they cook their potatoes as they are round spears so my hubby ate those. My husband liked his carne guisada and the bacon was a little too fried for my liking but he sure ate it all. We ate it all up and left nothing on the plate. That’s how good it all was! On our way out, we stopped by at their bakery and saw their options. They offer a variety of traditional sweet bread. We decided to skip out this time as we were so full. We will definitely be back for sure! I will say their breakfast tacos are priced so well ($2.75 each) that i will probably order those next time. Overall, I highly recommend stopping by for your next breakfast and lunch plans!

I haven't been to this part of Austin in 2 decades and let me tell you this place is iconic! Same great taste and amazing service. Welcoming culture, beautiful music, absolutely terrific food and don't forget strong coffee.

Joe’s Bakery & Coffee Shop in East Austin is a must for anyone craving authentic Tex-Mex breakfast and traditional Mexican pastries. It’s family-owned and has been serving up some of the best comfort food in the city for generations. The menu is loaded with an extensive variety of breakfast tacos, each one made fresh and packed with flavor, but the real star is the cheesy migas con todo plate. Don’t leave without grabbing a few of their baked goods from the counter! The conchas and empanadas are pure nostalgia. Joe’s blends old-school Austin charm with the warmth of a family-run kitchen.
Cassedy C — Google review
The food delicious! The service (our waiter) was professional, kind, and took good care of us. We ended our meal with some fresh concha from the bakery. Incredible! We can't wait to return to Austin to eat at Joe's!
Elizabeth P — Google review
Such a big disappointment. I have not been here in YEARS and it has significantly changed. There was no greeting with hospitality. In fact the lady that introduced herself with the spiked hair was extremely rude with NO COMMUNICATION skills. The food was terrible. Store bought stale crispy tacos, beef not seasoned. Quesadillas and enchiladas chicken were very bland. The menudo was decent but they charge .75 for cilantro. Like what’s menudo not paired with onion and cilantro? Queso was entirely too thick. I can’t imagine what it does in the inside. This use to be such an amazing place but I will not be coming back here ever. We left most of the food on the plate. We spent 175.00 because it was a large group. Our server Ms Linda was nice and pleasant. She was the only breath of fresh air we encountered.
Jasmine T — Google review
Joe’s Bakery has great breakfast tacos. We tried the bean and cheese, chorizo & egg, bacon & egg tacos. Having lived in the RGV, this was comparable in terms of quality. Server Victor Garcia was great. Will for sure stop by the next time visiting Austin!

The flavors are bold, the vibe is cozy, and the bacon? Absolutely a must-try—crispy and unforgettable. Perfect for small groups looking to kick off the morning with something satisfying and local.

Tyson's Tacos is a laid-back stand with a funky covered patio that offers a variety of creative tacos. The vibe at Tyson's Tacos exudes the old Austin charm, with mismatched furniture and recycle/reuse-chic decor. The menu features tacos with unusual names inspired by regular customers, such as the Wild Feminist.
This spot is great because we came at 3 AM. For it being open so late you cannot complain and the food was good. The taco selection that they have is very vast and it makes you want to come back and try more than a while. Will you make friends with those people, right
Jared D — Google review
It's frustrating, and frankly, EMBARRASSING that in a state like Texas, known for its deep ties to Mexican and Tex-Mex culinary traditions, that THIS is the taco spot that garners such popularity in Austin. Tyson's Tacos has become a go-to name, yet what it consistently delivers is lukewarm, dry and uninspired food that would never survive in California, where taco culture thrives in authenticity, flavor, and pride. We are Texas! Tacos should be our thing! But somehow, California is running laps around us, with high-quality, street-style tacos on nearly every corner. The fact that an establishment like this is considered a staple here feels like a slap in the face to our cultural potential. Ain't nobody gonna say nuthin!?!?!!! What's worse is that this isn't just a one-off bad experience. The meat is consistently dry. The food is CONSISTENTLY served lukewarm...borderline room temperature...and that alone should raise food safety questions. But beyond temperature, where is the care? The seasoning? The soul? I had some duck tacos so dry that I almost choked swallowing them. What is going on? It's clear the management has chosen this low standard. That's what stings the most. You have the opportunity to represent Austin proudly with something exceptional, but instead, you double down on mediocrity and convenience, pushing out subpar food to customers who deserve better. The long lines don't validate the quality. But they do enable the mediocrity to continue. Y'all...Even BASIC Tex-Mex joints outshine Tyson's in flavor, authenticity, and execution. This place could be so much more...but it clearly doesn't want to be. That's the real shame.
Valerie — Google review
Welp a place that let's me build my own nachos! I'm not a fan of their beef so I substituted bacon instead and extra queso. I love nachos but find it challenging to locate a place that still makes them with melted cheese (queso). I've seen some other reviews and yes Tysons does not heavily season their food. There are items that I enjoy here like their chips and queso, build your own nachos and B is for Bacon taco. If you do nachos either order online so you can be specific on what you want on there or clearly communicate this when you order there since their nachos come with certain items like lettuce, pico and guacamole. Tysons is one of the few establishments that are still 24/7 and they have decent options. They provide quality customer service and reasonably quick service.
Quincy U — Google review
I’m only give 2 stars because the nachos were a good amount of food for the price (7.99) . But the flavor of the beans were tasteless. And the brisket was the worst i’ve ever had, also about 2/3 of the brisket was all fat. I don’t know if it was because the time i was there, it seemed that they gave me the leftovers or the bottom of the pan.

Tamale House East is a trendy Mexican spot known for its delicious breakfast and lunch offerings, as well as a charming patio. The restaurant is owned by the nieces and nephews of the late owner of the original Tamale House, carrying on his legacy with tasty tacos and affordable prices. While they don't just serve tamales, their breakfast tacos are particularly popular, featuring flavorful fillings like fluffy eggs, fried potatoes, thick-cut bacon, and fresh salsas.
I'm posting about this 5 star experience while sitting at the bar letting this deliciousness digest. I visited Tamale House as a final stop on my way back to Houston. I cannot recommend enough that you do the same! The food, the atmosphere, and the family that work here are all a joy. I feel like this place is a hidden gem, I came here for brunch a few weeks ago and really enjoyed my chilaquiles. We came back for dinner tonight and the Al pastor tacos were amazing. First time to Tamale House and most likely our last. Had the “migas” plate but I’m Not sure why that is called migas. Super disappointed, mostly crispy tortillas and the plate looked very unappetizing. Had to place my own order, tip and rate before getting our food. Wayyyy over priced! The place is beautiful but the sore on the, I guess hostess was uh, gross. Abreva girl! This is my first ever bad review, because it was bad y’all! Sorry Tamale House!

Recently ate here while visiting my friend who lives in Austin. We got in about an hour before they closed and received good service. Your place your order through your phone by scanning the code on the table. Had the chicken tamale with mole plate. It was very good, mole tasted like mole and the tamale was not dry. Would go here again.

Historic Tex-Mex restaurant on East Sixth offering extensive menu highlighted by tacos and tamales, carrying on a tradition since 1958. It has some of Austin's most beautiful patio space, and the indoor dining rooms are no less amazing. We loved their breakfast tacos made with outstanding homemade flour tortillas. The real standout is the phenomenal chipotle migas taco, with scrambled eggs and crispy corn tortilla chips that get tossed in queso with a smoky chipotle salsa, all on a freshly made flour tortilla. One review said: "It’s a rare chilaquiles-adjacent evolution of migas, and something that should belong in the Museum of Breakfast Tacos." Their namesake tamales are excellent too. They have a parking lot in front and street parking in the back.

Eldorado Cafe is a vibrant Mexican eatery that offers a variety of traditional dishes and innovative cocktails. Founded on the principles of family and community, the restaurant prioritizes parent-friendliness, providing a waiting area with toys and books for children. The diverse menu caters to various dietary needs, including vegan and gluten-free options. The kids' menu features grilled chicken and Tex-Mex finger foods like tacos and quesadillas.
An excellent Mexican cuisine with plenty of options for vegetarian and vegan folks. Right from the get go of their chips and salsa sampler to every dish we ordered was so yummy and plentiful. This is an excellent place for anyone who loves Mexican food. A very simple ambience nothing to mention, but the service is awesome and great many people that care and serve you. They patiently answered our questions, made very good suggestions and the result is we all loved 😍 the food.

On the recommendation of friends we gave ElDorado Cafe a try. Be prepared for a wait. We waited outside and enjoyed chips, salsa and beverages. Once seated our waiter promptly took our drink & food order. We ordered Dart Bowl enchiladas and Rene's Awesome enchiladas. Both were good. Sadly the Sopapilla Cheesecake was sold out. The restaurant is small, is nice and has an Austin electic vibe. The staff were nice and attentive. There is first come bar seating. Overall good food, good service, but a long wait (we were a party of 2, waited over an hour and a half for a table). Their site does have a reserve a table option. If you have the time, are craving some solid Mexican food, and good adult or mocktail beverages give them a try.

Eldorado Café never disappoints — the food is absolutely delicious every single time! From their flavorful dishes to their warm, welcoming atmosphere, you can tell they put heart into everything they do. Even more impressive than their tasty food is their generosity. For two years in a row, Eldorado Café has given back to Padron Elementary School, supporting our students and staff in such a meaningful way. It’s amazing to see a local restaurant that not only serves great meals but also invests in its community. Thank you, Eldorado Café, for filling our bellies and our hearts! 💛🌮

Definitely a twist on your average Mexican food restaurant. The salsa sampler is pretty cool but half of them were too spicy to enjoy unfortunately, and I usually ike the heat. The margaritas are fabulous. Best queso in town. Didn’t expect ribs or potatoes bites for appetizers but they were delicious. Also, definitely recommend the chocolate mousse.

Found my place nearby for good Mexican food. Went in for breakfast this morning and sat at the bar. Joaquin was a great bartender. I had a nice drink called "purple people eater" its an Empress Gin based cocktail with blackberry juice among other things ... it was so good I had to have a second one! The migas was delicious had a bit of queso and white cheese on top. It was served with black beans and papas. Their papas has regular and sweet potatoes and is really good. I will definitely go back soon.

Very chill vibe. Authentic Tex mex. Drinks are average but food is good. Nice place to hang out with friends. The service is nice and the servers are very friendly. They make sure that the guests are comfortable and the orders are served as fast as possible. Interiors are nice and has a very Texan country vibe. They also have a few tables outside where you can wait and order drinks to start with. Overall this is a nice restaurant. This was my third time here.

I recently visited ElDorado and was immediately impressed even before I took my first bite. The place was buzzing with energy, and although I was told there’d be a 25 minute wait, I lucked out and was seated in just 10. That kind of start already set the tone for a great experience. The atmosphere? Relaxed, welcoming, and just the right kind of lively. It’s the kind of spot where you can kick back and enjoy good food without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Now let’s talk tacos. I ordered four different kinds, and every single one was a hit. But if you go, do yourself a favor and get Matt’s Everything Taco. It’s a flavor packed powerhouse fried egg, sausage, bacon, potato, hash, queso, jack cheese… it’s like breakfast and comfort food had a delicious baby. Honestly, it was one of the best tacos I’ve ever had. The coffee was smooth and satisfying, rounding out the meal perfectly. And shoutout to our waiter friendly, knowledgeable, and quick with the service. He helped us navigate the menu and made sure everything ran smoothly. If you’re in the area and craving bold flavors with a laid back vibe, ElDorado is a must visit. I’ll definitely be back.

We visited for dinner as a party of 3 (2 adults and a toddler). For drinks we got the Purple People Eater (cocktail) and La Loma Lindo (mocktail). Both we very basic and pretty disappointing tbh, there was barely any alcohol in it. We also got the Shiny Ribs and Papas Rellenas for appetizers. Both were extremely good and I highly recommend it. We went on a Saturday so I got the Barbacoa Taco (deal of the day?), Thunder Rosa Taco, Too Hot to Tot (veg taco) and Grilled Chicken (kids meal). For dessert we got the chocolate pistachio Bundt Cake. Overall, our food was excellent and service was great.! Drinks were disappointing tbh. Upon seating, we got served a basket of chips, and we ordered guacamole with it, it was a bit spicy and perfect!

Discada is a popular open-air spot that offers Mexican street food, including inventive tacos and elote. The star of the menu is the discada-style taquito, filled with a flavorful combination of beef, pork, onion, and bell pepper slow-cooked in a unique shallow wok. This cooking technique has been passed down for generations in Northern Mexico but has been given a modern twist at Discada.
Ate here as part of a taco crawl. Very friendly staff. We arrived around 4pm on a Thursday with no line. Place our order of 8 tacos and elote and loved the freshness of our food. The pineapple and pickled onions are a great addition.

Found out about this place from the amazing YouTube channel JOLLY. So glad we took the time on our trip to make our way down! THE BEST tacos I’ve ever had. Staff is friendly and sweet! The elote is phenomenal the crunch on the corn was so good and let me know it was beyond fresh! Definitely excited for the next time we come to the area to have them again!

Michelin Star tacos you say? I'm sold! As another google reviewer previously mentioned, this taco truck was featured on JOLLY's YouTube channel. The truck has it's own location surrounded by a good amount of seating where guests can converse and watch a movie on one of their dozen or so screens. A great vibe for the family (21 or older). We ordered the 8 tacos and a side of their elote. The tacos are ridiculously small, but packed with plenty of flavor with no sauce needed, but if you do need sauce, then I reccomend their green! The elote was good, and two people can split. I am satisfied with our experience and I do reccomend giving them a try. Also, the prices are actually not bad. 4.5/5

These are some of the best tacos I have ever had. The meat is slow cooked for a really long time and it is juicy and incredibly flavorful. The tortillas are lightly fried and complete the perfect taco. I only wish I would have gotten twice as many! Small complaint, the truck is now in a little food court area that is 21+ on weekends. It made it a little challenging to go with kids. My wife had to run in and grab them to go. If you have kids, definitely go on a weekday.
Matthew S — Google review
Look, I’ve eaten a lot of tacos. Like… an embarrassing amount. But the little beauties at Discada? These things rewired my taste buds. Each taco is about the size of a silver dollar pancake, but don’t let that fool you, they slap harder than your tía at a family party when you mouth off. The guy running the truck gave us a full-on National Geographic deep dive on these tacos. I half expected David Attenborough to start narrating. I retained none of the facts, but the passion? Unforgettable. You could taste the generational love. It was like a tortilla hug from the ancestors. Also… the street corn? Absolute sorcery. I took one bite and briefly considered proposing to the man who made it. Stephen from Nacho Libre would gladly trade all the Lord’s chips for just one kernel. Bring your stretchy pants for this one. In summary: Taco bliss. Corn conversion. Heritage in every bite.
Adam J — Google review
This food truck was inside a bar so be sure to bring your IDs specially in weekends. No kids under 21 allowed on Saturday and Sunday so I had to order to go because I was there with my wife and 2 year old. Tacos were excellent. OMG so flavorful. Place was flooded with people from the bar so I was not expecting it to be good as they were feeding large crowd. But tacos were really good. Reminded me of tacos back in Mexico. Wait time was around 10 minutes and you get a mobile notification when food is ready, if you want. Elote was also really good. We only got 5 Taco for 2 people but tacos were too small , like few bite size . However each had good amount of meat. Next time I would order 5 per person. Sounds like a lot but trust me it's not. Also extra green and spicy sauce.

We loved this place so much! Not just because we share the same last name but because the food was soooo good, the service was great and the atmosphere was very relaxing. When we come back to Austin, we'll surely be visiting Aparicio's again. Thank you for helping make our Anniversary special!

One Star I recently visited Aparicio's Austin Tx, and I was extremely disappointed. The food was absolutely terrible. All the choices they had were bland, dry, and flavorless. Everything tasted like it had been sitting out for hours, especially the cheetos. The horchatas tasted weird, too sweet and a little acrid, not at all like a traditional horchata drink. On top of that, the customer service was even worse. The young man taking the orders was rude and unprofessional, making the entire experience even more frustrating. He acted like he didn’t care about the customers or the quality of the food they were serving. On top of all that, the menu didn’t even have prices listed, which was really frustrating. They also don’t give you a receipt, making it impossible to know if you're being charged correctly—which I know for a fact I was overcharged because the guy working there got distracted and didn't write down one of the items but he still added it to the total, I told him and he didn't do anything about it. They scammed me, and they didn't care. The lack of transparency is really shady. The atmosphere is weird because the location is in a very shady place and in a bad neighborhood so you will get to see a lot of bad stuff happening ALL THE TIME like every single car illegally speeding by and homeless people coming in to the place. I will definitely not be coming back, and I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic or even remotely decent Mexican food. There are way better options elsewhere.
Marc A — Google review
I decided to try this place because of its high rating. The customer service was great, and as a new customer, they even let me sample their meat, which was a nice touch. However, I found the tacos to be overpriced for what you get—a basic tortilla with some meat, a small piece of avocado, and a few onions. As a Mexican, I had high hopes, but unfortunately, the tacos didn’t meet my expectations. I won’t be returning.

Saturday night around 9:30pm the dinner area was almost Enty. I was really hungry and I had to pick up this place because they were always pack during passing by the area. I did ordered the asada beef machete and agua de horchata, My total price was $29 dollars without tips. The horchata was the best but my asada meat was red like pastor color so I have to go back and ask them if my order was pastor or beef? The lady told me that it was beef but marinated in red color and I told her that I was confused with the flavor but thanks for clarify that. In my opinion my asada meat looks completely different with others reviews photos here so I’m guessing they get the marinated meat from the meat market that day. Also there is no price on the menu so I have no idea how much was each item that I ordered. Do I planning to go back? No I don’t think so.

The Food is really Delicious and Good. The Customer Service is nice. A little bit of wait for our food. Unfortunately the prices were not to my liking. It was well over 70$ for three people. I did not receive a receipt and may have been charged twice. I recommend the Dragon fruit drink. It is really refreshing. Lots of customers like to sit on the benches. If you like privacy or space when you eat, You may wanna take it go. It can get crowded. Parking is hard to find but that's due to the food trucks success and parking spaces usually filled by other customers. We had to park at another business and walk over. I diffently love the creativity of the dishes using Hot Cheetos. I give 4 stars instead of 3. Due to our food being hot and seasoned well.

tried their new dubai chocolate strawberry cup. the picture they promoted on fb looked sooooo good. this was my first time trying it so i was super excited to finally try it. sadly when i ordered it, it had very little chocolate and pistachio cream. mostly strawberries and katafafi . it was $14.50 of disappointment

This was my first time here, I generally stay downtown or south of the river. This was well worth the drive. The birria tacos were made to perfection. The consome was thick, almost like soup. We also had al pastor quesadillo with hot cheetos.... I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

Food was amazing. We ordered just before closing and they threw in some drinks with our machetes. Machetes had great flavor and spice level and the drinks were just the thing to go with them. Machetes could feed a hungry person, but easily can feed two people.

Nestled on East 12th Street, Arbor Food Park is a delightful culinary haven that showcases an array of food trucks offering diverse and mouthwatering options. From the delectable Venezuelan dishes at Cachitos 512 to the authentic Mexico City street-style tacos from Cuantos Tacos, there's something to satisfy every palate. You can also indulge in Philly-style hoagies at Papis or savor a classic pizza topped with aged parmesan and fresh basil from Sammataro.
Definitely a fan of a collection of food trucks! Especially in a neighborhood. Got there closer to their closing hours, so I wasn’t able to check out a lot of their options. This time around though, Rolling Smoke is what we tried. Their smoked mac and cheese with brisket and their brisket tacos were so delicious! Looking forward to trying some of their other options next time.

It was a sunny Thursday afternoon. We were in the mood for some tacos and bbq, and decided to check out a food truck park. This place was very nice, half a dozen trucks with variety of choices, Venezuelan, thai, Mexican, bbq, and even a pastry truck. We had the tacos and beef ends. Both were very delicious. Would recommend this park.

A small park with food trucks and seating areas in the center. There’s a good variety of food, and everything is clean and well maintained.

We ate at Rollin Smoke BBQ. Rollin Smoke BBQ is outstanding. We had to tacos on the special menu. The barbacoa and the carnita taco, plus the brisket taco from the regular menu. We added a side of smoked macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, and banana pudding. I'm usually not a macaroni and cheese lover, but the smoke macaroni and cheese is fabulous.

Although I am sure that there are other reasons to visit this food truck park, Cuantos Tacos is really the only one you need. Wow! Best tacos ever. Also the suadero quesadilla is the best ever. Really, everything at Cuantos Tacos is the best ever. The food truck park is well maintained, has good seating options and picnic tables, and a station in the center for trash and making sure patrons can easily clean up after themselves. There’s good parking and the area is pleasant. It’s a neighborhood gem and absolutely worth a stop when I’m Austin. Did I mention the tacos?

Machetes Casita Vizuet is a one-year-old taqueria located in a grocery store parking lot on North Lamar Boulevard. Co-owned by Maria Vizuet and her husband, this spot offers an array of Mexican delights such as pambazos, gorditas, huaraches, and their signature 18-inch machetes. The menu also includes burgers and Sonora hot dogs for those seeking something different.
The food was SO GOOD!!!! Machete half bistek and half chicken was outstanding! Salsa paired perfectly with the food! Rice was delish and charros beans were oh so tasty! Can't wait to go back and try more! Yummy! Thanks for the awesome food!!! 😋
Tina ( — Google review
One of the best authentic, full flavored, umami, full of sensation type of Mexican food. Amazing freshness from all the lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese, it helps cut through the rich meats. I ordered a pambaso and tostas. A must try

Finally! The best Mexican food I've found with the biggest burrito! 🌮🌯 Excellent selection of meats. Besides Mexican food, they do have burgers and Sonora hor dogs if you are looking for something different. A big difference in flavor and quality from other restaurants in the area. Favorites are the burritos and the nachos. 🧑‍🍳🍽️ Service is quick, mostly there are no wait times but I have never gone on peek hours. Wait time is between 10-15 minutes. Limited sitting, photos with the wood tables is from an old location. 🅿️♿ Parking available but limited. You can park at the HEB if it is too full. 📞🕡 Schedule is spotty but they are open in the afternoon, mostly after 4pm but call ahead of time and check if they are open. 🛜📵 No wifi available. 💳💵 Bring cash just in case. Sometimes the network goes down for paying. Although it has only happened to me once.

Update! Randomly drove by and they were open after 4pm. Food is unique and DELICIOUS! Great customer service, free parking and the vibe was positive. Nice seating area too. I highly recommend you give it a try. ** To avoid losing customers I do recommend they update the business hours on all platforms ASAP! Man, I was really excited to try this place! Reminded me of home. Mouth still watering. I had Planned to eat here the entire day but sadly when I showed up… no one was there… they were closed even though it was during the business hours listed :( I read other reviews that read their hours were spotty but as a consumer I’m going by the hours listed (11am-4pm) I’m really sad I didn’t get to experience this cuisine. I hate to give less than 5 stars but this is rating my true experience. If I can go back in the future I’ll update this review.

No food pun this time that’s just cheesy 🌮🧀 Highlights: •Machetes •Aguas Frescas •Huge Portions Review: They have a very extensive menu that would satisfy any palate. I ordered a machete with half flor de calabaza (squash blossom) and the other campechano (which is a mixture of beef steak and chorizo). Both the sides had nice texture and flavors. But the star was the machete which had hints of smokiness from the charred chorizo, slight saltiness from the steak, delicious melted cheese, slight bitterness from the squash blossom and all layered on to a pan fried handmade tortilla. It was all washed down with a semi sweet and very refreshing Melon (Cantaloupe) agua fresca. Can’t wait to go back and try out their other food options. Rating: 10/10 Machete half campechano (beef steak and chorizo) half flor the calabaza (Squash Blossom)- 18 inch long quesadilla made with a handmade tortilla and stuffed with cheese and preferred protein. It comes with rice, beans, salad and avocado.

We tried the machetes and they were delicious! Served with rice, beans, avocado, and diced tomatoes on a small bed of lettuce. I recommend "dining in" because the machete will not be cut in half and you'll experience the full magnificence of the dish.

Today was my first time here, it was fantastic! Everything I bought was Delicious and it was still hot when I got home with it. The food is very flavorful, the birria, the machete, the torta's are all very very good! Even the beans were great, I ate everything on my plate! This is my new and favorite food truck, I hope they never leave! What a great menu, and it's all cooked perfectly!

Machetes “Doña Leova” is a vibrant food truck located on North Lamar, offering an array of delectable Mexican dishes including machetes, gorditas, huaraches, quesadillas, and burritos. The generously sized machetes are served with lime, radishes, cucumber, pickled red onions, and a spicy green chile. The friendly staff provides excellent service in the enclosed dining area.
We bought 2 Machetes, one Pastor, one Bistec. The picture I attached is 1 machete cut in half to fit in the plate. They were both delicious. She was giving away a birria broth with the purchase of a Machete and it was AMAZING! MY KIDS, HUSBAND AND I were extremely pleased with the meal! The best way to describe it is, the taco shell feels and taste like a gordita but its loaded with all the great stuff from a loaded Taco. Beans, cheese, avocado and meat... Then you have a grilled Chile jalapeno or Serrano and cucumber on the side. This place is Great. Not to mention the kind women making the food and the Great Music that had us moving our whole visit. I totally Recommend this place! 10/10
Tatiana G — Google review
I had an amazing experience at this Mexican restaurant! The machetes were generously sized and tasted absolutely delicious. The spicy chili added a perfect kick, while the pickled onions and sauces elevated the flavors even more. The tacos were equally impressive—so flavorful and well-prepared. Beyond the food, the service was outstanding. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the music along with the overall vibe made the experience even better. My friends and I had a fantastic time, and this place has officially become our go-to late-night food spot. For parking there are a lot of spots so no need to worry about that. Highly recommended!
Ashok S — Google review
No joke the machete was as long as my forearm. We got 2 for 2 people thinking they were gonna be like 2 tacos each, no they lasted us 2 days, it was a LOT of food. So the price makes more sense when you think of it like that. We got a pastor and one of their combo machetes, both were good but the meat could have been seasoned better.
Gail B — Google review
GOD DAMN GOOD!!!! The machete is packed with meat and flavor. Fresh veggies and hella fulfilling. A must try. To go orders are well packed with plenty of sauce. Green or red, it don't matter, damn spicy. Long, long, long hella long.

this is a food truck with an enclosed area away from the weather. the people there are very friendly and nice and super helpful. i got a machete loco for $20 to share. when i say it took some work to get it down, believe me. this is between two eaters. it’s soooo good and flavorful (one of the very best in austin no doubt) and their salsas are just as great. the roja was my favorite but definitely pretty hot. please try this place you won’t regret it

Great vibes, and atmosphere Tortillas were excellent for the machete. Got the machete loco and while the mix of meats was nice, it tasted bland. The horchata was too sweet.
Talal A — Google review
"Five Stars *but*…" Why the "but"? These machetes are at their very best right out of the window, and our experience is that a long ride home does not improve them, so belly up to the table immediately. Please, do yourself a favor: Splurge on a beverage, sit at the clean tables in an enclosed & pleasant dining patio, and enjoy Doña Leova's selection of interesting salsas on your machete(s). At this writing, a machete is about $20, but consider the size, the quality, and the cheerful attention to your dining experience. We return, getting & sharing different types of machetes, and experimenting with the salsas. And I bet you will too. (If you're in the mood for something less intimidating than a machete, try a Huarache.)
Hal E — Google review
These machete tacos are HUGE! I asked for a recommendation, and got the crazy machete which comes with four different types of proteins, beans, cheese & avacado. Lots of garnishes. I think my favorite protein in this one was the al pastor.

Güero's Taco Bar is a popular spot located in a historic building with a patio, offering an extensive menu, including hand-shaken margaritas and a salsa bar. The restaurant serves authentic Mexican dishes with a Tex-Mex twist, such as enchiladas with various fillings and sauces. Visitors can enjoy the Oak Garden outside, featuring live music and a full bar on select days.
This place is an Austin institution, and it deserves its fame. Six of us descended on Guero’s about 5:00 on a Wednesday, and while it was busy, we were able to be seated immediately. Our excellent server took and delivered our drink orders, which came just enough later that we were ready to order. We munched on the complimentary chips and salsa until our food arrived. And the food was outstanding! We had everything from brisket enchiladas with mole to beef tacos queso to tamales to open face enchiladas with green sauce and more. Every single one of us loved every bite! The atmosphere is fun and lively, with lots of tables of happy diners all around. Whether you live in Austin or are just visiting, this is a great place to have your taste of the city!

The trio of salsas they brought out were all very good as well. They had a good selection of beer and their margaritas were fantastic. We also had a large group and they accommodated us very well. Service was great and our meals made it out very quickly. I got the ground beef enchiladas Santa Fe style and I loved them.

Güero’s Taco Bar has been open since 1986, and you definitely get that vibe when you walk inside. They have eclectic decorations, old photos, newspaper clippings, exposed brick wall with chipped paint, and worn wooden floors. It’s a popular spot in South Congress; there was a waitlist on Saturday around 3 pm, but tables turned fast and we got seated pretty quickly. We started with the queso flameado, melted jack cheese served with warm tortillas. We were surprised to see a deep bowl of cheese arrive at the table; they certainly did not skimp on the portions. It’s probably meant to be shared by more than 2 people. We also shared the pastor taco plate. It came with two marinated pork tacos, topped with chopped onions, cilantro and pineapple, and served with sides of rice and beans. We enjoyed the tacos, but were so full we had to take the rice and beans (and some of the cheese) home. Service was a little slow, especially towards the end when we were waiting for the check. Overall, the food was good, and there’s a fun and casual atmosphere.

Good spot for some good Tex-Mex. It was pretty busy Sunday at lunch hour but there wasn’t a wait. They have an unlimited salsa/green sauce/pico bar that you can use for the chips they provide- the salsa was my favorite. I ordered the gringo omelette which was quite good- the potatoes were my favorite part and nothing disappointed. Would recommend stopping by.
Billy T — Google review
I got the tacos al pastor (just 2, no sides) and was delish. There is a free salsa bar so I got more of the red sauce and pickled jalapeños. There is a escabeche is just shredded white onions, which I found bland. But the tacos were well seasoned and with the complimentary chips it was enough food. I ‘m trying to cut carbs. It came with a small side salad/raw veggies to go on the tacos.

Chuy's is a popular Tex-Mex chain originating from Austin, known for its 'big as yo' face' burritos and other Tex-Mex dishes. The highlight of Chuy's is their famous queso, which is served for free during happy hour in the back of a Cadillac trunk. Additionally, they offer a 'nacho car' with fresh salsas, creamy queso, and warm chips to enjoy with margaritas and beer.
Chuy’s is AMAZING. We were frantically searching for a last minute option after our first choice restaurant was full at 6 on a Saturday night, and not only did Chuy’s seat us quickly, they also managed to get all nine of us close together by seating us at adjacent tables! The food and service is impeccable. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and taco salad, and let me just say, if you’re looking for a healthy, filling, and yet incredibly delicious meal, this is for you. The excellent creamy jalapeño sauce on top really brought it together. Love Chuy’s. Could not recommend more!

Food was good but they got our order wrong (ordered a steak burrito, billed for a steak burrito, received a chicken burrito) and service was slow. At this point we were so hungry we ate what they brought. Waitress was great. No mojito mix, long wait for a table even though we had reservations. Green sauce is the best part.

This was my first time to eat at a Chuy's. I've heard a lot about them. I live in Abilene, Tx and we are getting one. Turns out this is their FIRST location. The place has tons of character. It was a super busy Saturday night during football season. We rode our motorcycles to the place which was nuts at 9PM!!! The steak and green chili burrito was the BEST burrito I have ever had in my life. The flavor was amazing. Our waitress was excellent and visited a little with us. All four of us had fantastic meals and totally worth the 30 minute wait. You will not regret a meal at Chuy's!!!

Chuy’s – Tex-Mex That Hits All the Right Notes Tex-Mex done right! From the moment I took a sip of my large margarita, I knew I was in for a treat. The flavors took me straight back to my childhood—comforting, bold, and just the right kind of nostalgic. I had the King’s Memorial Combo, and it was incredible in both taste and value. Chuy’s nails it with great food, fun vibes, and spot-on pricing. Highly recommend if you’re craving classic Tex-Mex with flavor that delivers.

Seattle tourist here! Went with a local because it’s a good spot to get your generic Tex Mex fix while in Austin but not much else. The Margarita with a Tajin rim was amazing. The Queso Compuesto dip was pretty addicting. I dont know why I got the taquitos but they were forgettable (I didn’t even take a pic). The server was lovely and helpful with their house sauces recommendation. I just wanted a hot sauce but they don’t have that

Matt's El Rancho is a family-friendly Tex-Mex restaurant that has been a staple in Austin since 1952. It offers a wide variety of classic Tex-Mex dishes such as enchiladas, burritos, and tacos, all made with fresh, house-made tortillas. The restaurant is known for its legendary Bob Armstrong Dip, which features taco meat covered in queso and topped with sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo.
A very old eating institution in Austin. I used to go to the one in Dallas. This one is always packed but everything they do is great. We had a 40 min wait but it went by fast with drinks. We were seated outside. Nice patio You HAVE to get The Bob. It’s just as yummy here as in Dallas. I didn’t get a picture of The Bob as it was so good we devoured it fast Worth a try and wait for sure.

I had a relaxing lunch on the patio. Liz C was my server and not only was she super nice, but very knowledgeable about the menu. The small Bob Armstrong was the perfect size for me to enjoy with my chips and salsa. The salsa is on the spicy side if you’re not a fan of heat. The extra cheese and guacamole was also good on my brisket tacos. The sunset margarita was refreshing and not overly sweet. I would recommend this spot for good Tex-Mex while in Austin.

Came here for a quick lunch after a business meeting. Didn’t expect much from a Tex mex restaurant called Matt’s and I was impressed. Service was friendly and fast. Inside is very cozy and warm. They have patio seating in the back. Chips and salsa hit the spot. Waitress recommended the Asadero tacos and boy am I ever glad I went with it. It was so tender and flavorful that I didn’t add the fixings that came with the food. $20 for two tacos which is pricey but well worth it.

I dined in Friday evening 10/24 about 730pm the light was very intimidating, but it moved really fast. It seems crazy and chaotic, but it’s worth the weight. We got margaritas from the bar as we waited for our table. We got seated inside in the back. It was very loud so we asked for a table on the patio, which I would recommend we ate right by the pond. The food was delicious. The roasted garlic and jalapeños to die for service was greatthat chips and salsa. Amazing if you like spice every time I go to Austin, I will try to make this place. I thought the food was really good and tasty! Everything had a lot of flavor. The issue with my experience was the service. We had a reservation set and when we walked in the host was scrambling to get everything ready. The table was also not properly set, we had utensils missing and when we asked the server to bring out the missing utensils they were never brought out. We had to ask multiple times. Same happened with water. We would ask for more and the server would come back multiple times, and not bring it. I will say, the food runners did a good job bringing everything out and explaining what each dish was. Also we were sat outside and they turned the light off at one point so we were sitting in the dark.

The whole experience was great! Our server Eric was very knowledgeable and gave a great run down on the whole menu. Every dish was delicious but the quesadilla, ceviche, and corn were our favorite. Drinks were great too. Definitely worth a try!

La Condesa is a beautiful restaurant — nicely decorated with a stylish, modern vibe. The bar is cute and offers a good variety of cocktails. The appetizers like the guacamole and the queso fundido with peppers were good, though the esquites were not our favorite. We ordered a huarache, sopes, zucchini tostadas, a short rib quesadilla, and cochinita. The food was just okay overall — the sopes and quesadilla were decent, but nothing that really stood out. Service was average. We mentioned we were celebrating a birthday, but the waiter said they didn’t offer any complimentary dessert. When we ordered one, he also said they didn’t have candles so if you’re planning to celebrate, bring your own! Overall, the place is lovely and the ambiance is nice, but honestly, the food didn’t impress me. I’d much rather go to Suerte the food and cocktails there are much better, and you can tell the difference right away: Suerte is always packed, while at La Condesa you can easily get in without a reservation.

Great food and plenty of options. My team and I really enjoyed the Agua Fresca - we had the Hibiscus and pineapple mint. We ordered many of the appetizers to start and did a few of the main courses family style. With a few tortillas, this worked really well. The servers were attentive and it was a really great experience

We had an amazing experience from start to finish. All of the staff members were very friendly and inviting. Our server, Mike T, was very knowledgeable and personable. He had great recommendations and we felt really taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious and we would 100% come back. We had the short rib quesadillas, Sopes, Crudo, and Tres Leches. Mike recommended the Mezcal of Rosaluna Joven, which was stronger than I expected, but delicious and we also tried the Sandia Sabía cocktail which was delightful! Everything was great!

This place is a true hot spot for authentic Mexican food. From the moment you walk in, the décor is amazing and sets the tone for a great dining experience. I was traveling for work and decided to stop by. I sat outside on the patio, which had a great atmosphere. I ordered the carnitas tacos and their ceviche special—both were absolutely outstanding. To top it off, I enjoyed a mezcal cocktail that paired perfectly with the meal. The location is lively and popular, so expect it to be crowded and plan for a bit of a wait. But trust me, it’s well worth it for the food, service, and atmosphere.

My wife and I attended the first collaboration of their Summer of Ceviche series featuring EnsenadaATX's Ceviche Tostada, it was amazing! We also had their Carnitas Tacos and Pai Pai (bay scallops), both dishes were excellent. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff/service was impeccable, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We will be back.

Trudy's Texas Star is a local Tex-Mex favorite with locations in North and South Austin, offering an extensive drink menu featuring fan-favorite margaritas. The Tex-Mex Rita is a popular choice for its classic taste. The restaurant also serves delicious Tex-Mex food that pairs well with their signature margaritas. Visitors can enjoy happy hour specials and weekend brunch at this Austin staple, known for its $5 Mexican Martini Mondays.
This place is great. The service was very fast and on point. The atmosphere was very fresh with an Austin feel to it. The outdoor seating was gorgeous. The happy hour drinks were cheap and delicious. I had the Mexican martini which was well worth the hype. The food selection was very thorough. All of the basic Mexican dishes, plus so much more. I had the chipotle wings. The wings were huge and delicious.

Really enjoyed lunch here. Super old building, reminded me of an old camp mess hall. Chips and salsa were on point, the queso did not disappoint and the main courses were delicious. Our server was really good and kept the refills coming. I would definitely go back.

I love this place. It's my go to whenever I'm in Austin. However, the last time we came we sat in the bar area by the patio. It took 15 minutes for someone to greet us, another 10 to get our drinks and about 20 minutes for the waitress to come back to take our order. It was just me and a girlfriend. Luckily we had plenty of time to wait. The food was good as always!

I LOVE coming here for brunch. The food is always amazing (FRENCH TOAST!!!) the service beats all other locations as well. I’ll always come back.

What I learned on my first visit to Trudy’s. Avoid the queso/guac. It’s good, but you’ll gorge yourself on chips and dips. Stick to the main course because you’ll upset when you don’t finish your entree. I got the chicken fajita queso enchiladas, and that was a waste of time. The rice was bland, and the charro beans managed to be blander. Why did I give Trudy’s 4 stars for such a description? I nibbled off some of my buddy’s meal. He got the All American Breakfast with two eggs, ham, red potatoes, and pancakes. Perfect entree that I regret not ordering especially for the price! Maybe next time. Y’all have a good day!!

Trudy’s is the best, their menu has variety of options that each of them will surprise you. Haven’t been there for while but maybe more than 2 years but their quality is as same as it was. Can’t wait to go back there again.

We drove in from Waco and needed to get to a show by 8:00, so I called ahead and we were able to get added to their list so we wouldn’t have to wait when we got there. Very good considering it was a Saturday night! The service was good. I’m new to these reviews and regret that I forgot to take more pictures of our food, lol. But it was all good. Pictured are the stuffed and fried jalapeños. So tasty! Love the breading on the outside. They were big, too. They offer two types of salsa - a green and a red. Both delicious with just the right amount of heat! My enchiladas, rice, and beans were great. Love this location, super close to the UT campus and right there in the Hyde Park area. There are tons of great choices in Austin, but this is an old favorite so I love to visit when I can.

Pros: Open late, Texas Star Lemonade (Tito's Vodka, fresh squeezed lemonade and muddled mint) was delicious and large, and the hash browns served with the migas were very nicely browned, which is amazingly difficult for most other places to do, tho I have no idea why. Doesn't everyone love crunchy hash browns? Service was also good, we had a very attentive waiter. Cons: All the other food was pretty average. Not bad, just not anything worth going back for again.

Amaya's Taco Village is a popular Tex-Mex spot in Austin, known for its delicious tacos, fajitas, and classic platters. Despite the limited taco selection, the restaurant draws in crowds with its well-executed classics and warm hospitality. Established in 1976, this spacious venue offers a large dining room and bar seating.
Amaya’s Taco Village is a solid spot for a laid-back Tex-Mex breakfast at a good price. The patio is super cute on a nice day, and it’s kinda fun to just sit there and stare at the I-35 flyovers. Definitely a local favorite—lots of regulars, and it gets pretty busy, especially on Sunday mornings. The free chips are nothing fancy (straight-up supermarket quality), but hey, they’re free, so no complaints. Service is good, but my food took about 30 minutes to come out. Seasoning is on the lighter side, but the portions are generous. The menudo is loaded with meat and tastes a lot like Joe’s Bakery and Coffee Shop’s. The migas plate was way bigger than I expected—so much scrambled migas egg for $7.65! The flavor is pretty mild, but the huevo ranchero sauce on top is nice and fresh. I ended up using the salsa from the tortillas to give it more of a kick, and that worked great. And holy moly they gave me 4 tortillas. Also, shoutout to the breakfast potatoes—crispy and super tasty. I could only finish half my plate. I left very full and satisfied.

Had dinner at Amaya's restaurant and was seated very quickly. My hostess was very professional, knowledgeable and with the menu and greeted me with a smile. The atmosphere was very family-oriented and there were quite a few families visiting that evening at the restaurant. The atmosphere was electric and there were lots of laughing and families engaging. Even though I dined alone I had a great time. The place that I order will very reasonable, parking was easy and plentiful and there is handicap accessibility available. Thank you Amaya Mexican restaurant staff, you're doing a great job. Keep up the good work! I will be sure and tell all my friends where to get some great authentic Mexican food and mango margaritas. ❤️

The food was so good! Just like the South location’s experience including our fabulous server, Claudia. Bean & cheese nachos, beef enchiladas, and cheese enchiladas were served hot from the kitchen and the portions were generous so we had plenty bring home. My only suggestion, not really a complaint, we were sat about 2 feet from a large party while many other tables were empty. Would have liked to be one or two tables over since it appeared all sections were still “open.” Already planning to come back Friday for margaritas!!

Wow, I can’t believe I haven’t tried this place sooner! The chalupas were overpriced (almost $15 for two with no sides) but they were worth it to me. I heard the breakfast was also good so I came back the next day and had breakfast. I’d say the breakfast was better and the best part was they actually got everything right how we ordered it. I’ll definitely be returning.

Known for its excellent happy hour deals and delicious food, Maudie's offers a lively and casual dining experience. The menu features favorites like amazing queso, fajitas, and breakfast tacos with just the right amount of spicy salsa.
Has always been the place to go for Tex Mex food. Chips and salsa are always delivered first up. We got the enchiladas and the migas. Both were excellent. Even on a crowded day the service was good. Place was clean and nicely decorated. Parking can be an issue at this location. Overall great place for any meal of the day.

Worst restaurant ever!!!: - undrinkable hibiscus tea - chapula made my stomach so queasy - we were ripped off: •“where is beef” in chaplua, yet they charge for additional beef •charged us beans when it was included •did not take happy hour discount from my padre’s drink while it was during happy hour. - gave us one sopapilla, while menu appeared that it was two.

I'll try not to make this long. I LOVED it here. From the moment i was greeted at the host stand to the moment i walked out: the hostesses were super sweet and friendly, our server Nate was very quick and helpful. I'm asking for him next time. We had the trio appetizer with queso, bean dip and guac, my favorite was the queso. You can tell they put some work into it. The chips and salsa were fresh and spicy, which is very important to me. I got the poblando enchiladas; they were okay, but i enjoyed it! The sauce was not my favorite but the chicken was so flavorful and not dry! Omg the rice and beans were GOOD! FINALLY, some good rice in a tex mex restaurant!! My boyfriend got the tamales with queso and carne on top... O.M.G. DELICIOUS. So fresh and amazing. I also got a fresh lemonade: DELICIOUS as well. I kept watering it down with water so i just had lemonade all night! I wish i couldve tried dessert but I couldn't even finish my plate. Almost everything tasted like it was fresh and made with love. Also the environment was fantastic because the workers actually looked happy to work together, help eachother and interact! The manager was very hands on on the expo line (where the plates come out), which is very nice to see; i love to see team work in a restaurant, AS EVERY RESTAURANT SHOULD. Finally, a good tex mex restaurant in Austin. (Im from Houston) Definitely coming back 🩷 Okay i guess i made this a bit long, lol.

Top notch service from Nate. We have never been before and our minds were blown. Nate told us about the items on the menu that shine, he helped us build a delicious margarita, and hes speed of service was on another level. Will be coming back for fajitas, margaritas, and Nate!

This a perfect spot if you want a good meal at a great price! We went here after a hike nearby and couldn’t have been happier. Getting chips and salsa right away is a big plus ALL day breakfast is a huge Win in my book. Some places close breakfast so early it’s a crime. Especially for people that don’t eat breakfast when they first wake up, I usually wait a few hours before eating Sausage Migas plate was perfectly cooked, and we also got the pancake platter. The pancakes had a vanilla flavor to them, very good Parking was easy Sunday afternoon, but I can see it being challenging if too busy

They dont mention that fajitas for one does not come on a hot plate, only if you order for 2 or more. My boyfriend barely touched his food and the server didnt bother to take it off our tab even though he literally had 3 bites and decided he didnt want it so we had to pay for food that was barely even touched. The employees were yelling at each other and being aggressive and rude which was not nice to watch and extremely unprofessional. Server had a bad attitude, she seemed annoyed and like she didnt care. Food wasn't that great. Server didnt mention that the jalapenos and sour cream I asked for are a dollar each which seemed like quite the upcharge for such simple things. Queso was so thick and plastic like, maybe its made out of velveeta. Bathroom was so disgusting. Definitely do NOT recommend. There are way better restaurants with better service and food.

Maudie’s is a well known consistent eatery that is a staple of all the folks in the Tarrytown area of Austin. They not only have fantastic Tex-Mex standards such as tacos, migas, fajitas and enchiladas, but they also make a nice burger and fries. The inside decor is very nice with a wall of backlit tequila bottles and local art by Tim Sabo. Speaking of tequila, I have never been disappointed by a margarita here. The sidewalk patio dining is also a very pleasant atmosphere. My go-to dishes are the Sausage Migas or the Enchilada’s Josie style, I recommend going with one cheese and one ground beef. This is place is almost alway busy during the main dining hours so go at odd hours if you wish to avoid the crowd and any extended wait times. I could eat here several days a week and be perfectly happy. Good food and good people too. The wait staff and management are extremely friendly, check this place out next time you are in the central/west Austin area. There was even one day last week I went to Maudie’s Cafe twice in one day!

Habanero Cafe is a family-owned Mexican restaurant in Austin that has been serving authentic and delicious food for over 20 years. The menu offers a variety of options, including all-day breakfast and popular lunch specials. The cafe is known for its friendly service and generous portions, such as the large red plastic cups of horchata. The tacos are described as price-friendly, cheesy, and just greasy enough to satisfy post-rager cravings.
INCREDIBLE!! We are visiting from the east coast and needed somewhere to stop before we leave, I came across this place just looking for food on Google and saw all the other great reviews and figured we should stop here. Thank goodness we did!! It was packed with locals and working men, and we knew that was a good sign. We were seated within 10 minutes, drinks and chips with the best tasting spicy salsa I’ve had our whole trip, and the food came out in less than 10-15mins. Everything was DELICIOUS!!! We recommended it to our friends that live here, and WILL be back on our next visit. Thank you for an amazing experience!

Best authentic Mexican food we’ve tried in Austin so far since moving here three months ago. I’m so happy we ran into this place on a Friday because their chicken mole Friday special was THE BEST THING EVER. Most tender chicken thigh you’ll ever have. Their chips and salsa dip was also amazing along with the staff’s hospitality. VISIT NOW!

The service was amazing, under a 10 minute wait even though it was very busy and we were expecting a 20+ min wait. Staff is very kind and quick. Food was so delicious 😋 we got the migas plate and the chori-migas plate. We tried both the corn and flour tortillas and they were all right. Looking at all the other dishes in the restaurant made me want to order everything. Atmosphere has low volume music due to the restaurant bustle which is good, its a cozy atmosphere. I'd be a regular if I lived closer.

From the bars on the windows to the 26 year old building, this spot is everything ‘old Austin…’ it’s a small joint that stays busy, so you might have to wait, but it’s worth it. Classic Tex-Mex plates that taste great, they even changed the channel on the tv for me (big soccer fan).. Awesome service as well. We definitely plan to come back and try lunch/dinner. Great place!

We've been coming here for years now and love everything about Habanero's. I can't vouch for everything on the menu, but that's because I always order the machacado breakfast plate. The salsa is made in house and zesty without burning your tongue. Even the coffee is delicious. But what makes Habanero's so special is the staff there. It feels like home and we always leave satisfied and happy!

The menu features popular breakfast tacos, including the #9 with homemade machacado and eggs, as well as the #4 with black bean, egg, and cheese.
We celebrated National Margarita Day here which was an excellent decision. Margarita flights say whaaaaat yes I will have one! And guess what, they were delicious! These were like 3 incredible and unique margaritas - we had watermelon, spicy cucumber and sangria. The sangria was a frozen with a cinnamon swirl. They were simply delightful. Their skinny margaritas were also good. Food was also consumed, thank goodness. Their veggie burrito and cheese enchilada were very tasty. I loved their big bubbly chips and salsa with guacamole. Our server was very entertaining and was always checking on us. We had a great time here and will definitely be back.

This is our go to restaurant for Mexican food when we are in Austin. The food, service, and atmosphere are always top notch!! The food is always delicious! Love brunch! Their chips & salsa are so good. Different from other Mexican restaurants. Love huevo rancheros which comes with carne guisada meat. So good and tender, best flavor. Love over easy eggs. Their flour tortillas are delicious too!! My husband had a yummy breakfast taco with eggs, bacon, cheese, and potatoes. So good. Their top shelf margaritas are delicious, on the rocks or frozen with floater on top!! The service is excellent, our server Faith, always takes the best care of us!! Love Donald too! Best GM! I visited Mi Madres in Austin after hearing a lot of hype about their breakfast burrito, but I was underwhelmed. The burrito tasted like something I could whip up at home—nothing special. What really threw me off, though, was the horchata. It tasted like a virgin piña colada, which totally missed the mark for what horchata is supposed to be. And then we noticed the menu listed the burrito at $13, but we were charged $14.50. Not a huge deal, but just added to the disappointment. With so many great spots in Austin, this one didn’t live up to the buzz for us.

Green sauce? Yes, please!! Had such a great experience here. They have indoor, patio and outdoor seating available (with a dog patio, of course) We came here for the breakfast tacos, which they have a great selection of and we were pleased with our selections. Had us a nice cup of Joe, too. You do have to pay for the chips and salsa, but we were okay with that. The chips come with a red sauce but be sure to ask for the green sauce! Gotta have green sauce with breakfast tacos or you’re just plain crazy. Overall great vibes and great food, give it a try.

Velvet Taco is a popular spot known for its globally-inspired tacos and rotisserie chicken, along with a selection of beer, wine, cocktails, and craft sodas. Located in the Domain area of Austin, it offers a great vibe and quick service. Customers can expect delicious food with customizable options such as choosing different tortillas for each taco. The exceptional service provided by the staff members adds to the overall experience.
Everything was hand made. The flavors really pop here! The staff was ultra-friendly, professional, and attentive. I had brisket and steak tacos in a combo that came with a side of fried rice, sauce, chips, and drink. Don’t skip the red velvet cake. I normally dislike red velvet cake, this red velvet cake was rich, flavorful, and so satisfying. Prices are very reasonable. It was busy at 5PM and the mildly loud chatter and atmosphere made it obvious that local folks love this place.

Always a bustling lively place. A good place to hang out with friends. The margaritas are good, but strong. The food is very good. Everything on the menu is at least somewhat spicy tho. The next time im there i will be asking if there is a way to get a non spicy version of their food. i expect im in the minority here, but i think the chicken and waffle taco would be just a little better without being spicy. i really enjoy there weekend hours.

here is what you need to know before coming to this location I now understand over the years the balance of the good and bad reviews for this location and how they differ and let me explain as I at one point thought I had left a review for this location but I'm now going to use this opportunity to redo a proper review up-to-date First off the restrooms are unlike anything you will ever see that you design is unique and different that they have a sink area through to the back that is all by itself it's own design and what you have is people from the kitchen constantly coming there to wash their hands as well as people coming in and out of the restrooms thus with only one trash can really hear from washing hands then I could tell at any point of time this area could get disgusting then you have like two stalls for on one side and two stalls for the other and they're not really a sign for men or women they're just again restroom stalls you open the door in a random close And keep in mind these location is open ridiculous late hours and long shifts so I could see how this area could end up getting neglected depending on especially if they are getting slammed or the employees are just wasted after a long day also I don't hold it against the manager who have had conversations with in the past and then came to realize oh wait a second there's rotating managers because this location has such ridiculous long hours especially on Thursday to 1:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday till 4:00 a.m. keep in mind they open between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. each day and although they don't do breakfast they have a large rotating staff quality control is going to just take a hit no matter how you do this to be able to handle the kind of volume this location gets so I commend them on when I arrived to my mom the place was spotless clean they were keeping up with the steady flow of traffic coming in and we were able to get our order fixed and let me explain I got an email promoting the $25 special so I downloaded the app and set it up and put in the order and paid an advance it would be ready for pickup from my mom and I to eat there but when I did substitution for what I thought was just a substitute to Pico corn when I didn't realize it was diet substituted the meat for roasted vegetables so when I handed back the order and showed how I ordered and have any meat on either bowl they helped me understand and go through the app and quickly just made a correction and added meat to both bowls at no additional cost again what I got was that the customer service here and a manager or not necessarily disconnected from customer service they're just exhausted and run long hours long work hours ridiculously long work hours and that would grind on just about any person that especially pending on how they're all just rotating different positions taking orders getting orders cutting corn cutting fresh corn again let me make note that you do fresh cut corn like they will constantly having somebody cutting the corn fresh off the cob that being said your mileage here is always going to vary as they have tacos of various flavors across the board but right now the best bang for the buck is their $25 special after 5:00 p.m. where you can get two balls chips your choice of queso or guacamole and by the way they served us generous portions of guacamole which I appreciated especially with how hard it is these days to find guacamole is not like two or $3 for small portions And of course with this place is famous for velvet cake a slice of velvet cake which was delicious didn't care for a caramel but I will definitely say I became a fan of their velveteen hot sauce now here's the next thing I'm going to want everyone here because they have a rotating staff is constantly exhausted burnt out worked hard rotated and long hours your mileage of regards to being able to ask anybody there at the front what comes in each thing is always going to vary keep in mind people that complain about the spices yeah both of their sauces are spicy so keep that in mind

Awesome spot, a little busy but thats fair for a good location. As we waited in line they deployed a second cashier and another employee who took our order on a device. The menu was clearly displayed on the outside and inside of the business which made it friendly as a first time customer who has no idea what they want. The taps were down which was a bummer understandable but still a bummer for a cold beer, food more than made up for it tho. Full sized tacos each authentically true to their description and pallet. Hot sauce was insanely good, we grabbed the hotter bottle and I wish I knew what it was. The elote side was different than back home but incredible, it comes as a dip with chips and was delicious. We got almost everything and had no disappointment. Fried chicken tacos covered in sauce were a little mushy but that's kinda par for the course. Brisket taco was the best but seriously didnt have anything that missed the mark. Would absolutely recommend and I hope I get to come back.

Tex-Mex restaurant
Brunch restaurant
VIVO is a lively spot known for its vast patio, wide variety of tequilas and margaritas, and inventive Tex-Mex cuisine. The restaurant offers 'modern Tex-Mex' fare with a great happy hour from 4-6 pm on weekdays. Guests can customize their margaritas with unique flavor mix-ins like hibiscus, blood orange, or prickly pear. The menu includes vegetarian options and loaded appetizers, making it a solid choice for anyone.
Great food and drinks for incredible value. Like, I hope I don't give it away but their prices are significantly lower than other comparable restaurants. And for amazing quality and quantity. So good and such a deal. Hurry and go before they figure it out!

Great service and great atmosphere! The food was interesting, tried the shrimp salad and puffy tacos. The tacos were pretty greasy, but the fajita beef was tasty. The shrimp taco was OK, shrimp tasted a little off. The limeade was tasty if you like the pucker factor. Will try some other foods to get a more robust experience. Waiter Jory was awesome!
S D — Google review
Really great Tex-Mex! The puffy tacos are one of their unique offerings! The patio is wonderful on a cool night, but might be a little toasty on a summer night. Chips and salsa are top notch!

Food was fine, I thought mine was ok, alot more then i expected on mine but nothing special but rest in our party liked it, service was also nothing special, what upset me but I didn't complain was yes we may have had 6 people on our table but 2 were 2 years old and a 6 years old who we did not order anything for, nor did they eat there, I mean my 6 yrs old ate a few chips (no salsa) and drank water but when the bill came I was still charged an automatic gratuity, not a big deal I was planning on tipping my usual 30% i do at other places but because of that reason I just left it at what I was automatically charged. Really not a big deal because me myself really didn't care much for the service or the food so I wouldn't be attending in the future anyway.

Hand down the BEST salsa and TexMex I have ever had in my life. After moving away from Austin a few years ago, I still come back just to get VIVO salsa by the quarter. Do yourself a favor and eat here. You will thank me.
Ian A — Google review
Pretty impressed with this place. Only draw back is it is pretty dark atmosphere inside. The waiter (Oscar) was super helpful and attentive. The chips and salsa are on point. The cocktails ( we had more than pictured 😏) were tasty. My fajita tacos were delicious and my wife loved her street tacos. This is a hidden gem that should be visited if you are in the area.

Vivo is one of my favorite hidden gems! I say hidden because it’s not in plain view from the highway. However if you know you know!! All the people here are amazing. I go fairly often and have not met a bad server yet! So friendly and helpful! I love their tortilla soup and puffy tacos! We come here for happy hour, work lunches, random lunches, it is definitely a busy place during lunch but well worth it.

Update 1.7.24. Food was still delicious, but took over an hour to get served to us. The waitress didn’t update us on why the food prep was taking so long and when I asked she said that there was a printer problem with the kitchen. Seems hard to believe that the kitchen would assume that NO ONE was ordering anything. So removing a star for poor performance today. Earlier review: Delicious food. We got the calabacitas and puffy tacos with tofu. The corn tortillas are good. We got Victoria beer for an authentic Mexican experience. And a margarita for a Tex-Mex one. The chips and salsa was also good. The chips were light and fluffy. It’s nice to have a Tex-Mex place with vegan/vegetarian options. The waitress (Mary) was also very good (attentive, made sure the order was correct and good).

Enchiladas Y Mas is a Tex-Mex restaurant that has been serving up family recipes since 1994. The owners, with over 50 years of experience in the food industry, have received awards for their authentic Mexican cuisine. Known for their award-winning enchiladas, this festive and kid-friendly spot also offers breakfast options and strong margaritas available in small or large sizes.
My family and I have been going here for years. We live two hours away but anytime we’re in Austin. This is the place that we go to just outstanding food. Customer service and great people thank you for great service people. And wonderful delicious food.
Jeff C — Google review
Overall, I think this is probably a good spot. However what I had was inedible. The beef enchiladas were bland. Mostly just corn tortillas with 2 tbsp of beef inside. The beans were the worst beans I've had and the rice had a weird texture. Also the table salsa was so hot that I couldn't even eat it. The tortilla chips were excellent though! Great prices. Some other tables food looked much better. Just the beef enchiladas, beans, and rice are bad.
Arianna T — Google review
Arrived for lunch on Wednesday before 11 o’clock opening and there was a line formed already. We were seated quickly and soon had warm tortilla chips and spicy salsa in front of us to enjoy. Margaritas on the rocks were perfect, one with tajin. The only disappointment was the queso, it was like ballpark cheese. The entrees were exceptional and rival any other top Mexican food eateries in Austin. The crispy tacos were overstuffed and the guacamole was fresh and delicious with no preservative taste. The cheese enchilada were a top favorite. This small, quaint restaurant was like being in a small town neighborhood, regulars being greeted with hugs from wait staff. Can’t wait to return, will definitely be in a regular lunch rotation for us.
Dan B — Google review
So good! My friend and I split the fajitas for 2 and did not disappoint. The salsa was spicy compared to what we get in MI (no complaints) definitely recommend!
Gretchell H — Google review
As I approached the entrance at 2pm I noticed people sitting by the front entrance. This made me think they are on the waiting list. So I walked in and no waiting list and we were seated right away. I ordered tea and the Chef Special plate. They brought out complementary chips and some really good and spicy salsa. When the plate arrived it was huge and the food was piled high. From start to finish everything was delicious, cooked perfectly, and the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. Inside the place looked like it has been around for a while but clean. The waitress was helpful and courteous. What I liked the most was the price and the huge portions. As I was leaving notice again different set of people waiting outside by the front… never figured out what that was about? Either way this is a great place to enjoy Mexican food. 👍

Nothing fancy.. Old school Tex-Mex at its finest.. Just great service, great food, good drinks at reasonable prices. Exactly what you want in a restaurant.. One of my main go-to spots in Austin .
Jeremiah D — Google review
My husband and I stopped here for lunch today, we were in the mood for some Tex Mex and saw how many cars were outside, so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! The service was great, the salsa was AMAZING, and everything else we had was delicious! We will definitely be going back.
Jennifer Y — Google review
I’m torn, the atmosphere is chill, but honestly very run down and dirty- especially the blinds, We were impressed by the prices and the amount of food…until the main courses arrived. Enchiladas were filled and covered in processed cheese! I cannot wrap my head around Mexicans using processed cheese for anything, let alone enchiladas. Texmex is not Mexican. The guacamole was prepared with fresh avocados, the salsa was flavorful, so why skimp on the cheese? Honestly blasphemous to Mexicans,

Nice place with lots of seating options. Parking is a bit tricky but you get validations on the parking. The margaritas were nice and pretty stiff, for my liking. The pastor tacos under seasoned for me however they were very well cooked and the tortillas were fresh. The queso fundido was spot on and the chorizo absolutely delicious. The Tortillas were fresh, soft and delicious. I liked the dining experience and I would come again try out their other dishes.

The absolute worst food I've ever had on S Lamar 😫 also $10 to park in a restaurant parking lot is mind boggling. The staff was super friendly. Edit: was not enjoying the buffet options, only trying to find what could like. Not one option was tasty.

Excellent food here, and great service. The parking was a little weird but you just need to go inside and sign in before you pay. It’s actually free parking for El Meson customers. I had the Green Mole enchiladas and those are SO delicious. Everything was prepared perfectly including the rice (and I’m a rice snob). I highly recommend this restaurant.

Sazon is a no-frills bar and grill that offers house-made mole sauce and other interior Mexican specialties. Chef Margarito Aranda serves up dishes like cochinita pibil with pickled onion relish called "xni pec," empanadas filled with huitlacoche, ceviche, and roasted chicken quarter with mole Oaxaqueno.
This is a genuine local hole in the wall. They don't get a lot of business so if you happen to come and it's a little more crowded, be patient with the one waitress taking care of everybody. The food was great. The portions were very appropriate for the price. I also love that they have a patio that you can take your dogs onto.

Wowzers is this place good! Had the Cochinita Pibil w/ a side of mole. Everything was great—the pork, the rice, the plantains. The mole was some of the best I’ve ever had. Their 1816 margarita was divine. Their salsa is beyond what you’d expect. And the flan….what a way to end the meal. On top of this, every dish is about $15. If you want Mexican in Austin, this is a no-brainer.

Always a great meal at Sazon! Love all of their enchilada options and it always feels like home when we walk in the door. Stopped in today (Valentine’s Day) and enjoyed their special holiday strawberry margaritas. Now I have to decide which enchiladas I want today. The verde, pipian or mole. Can’t go wrong!

This is a fantastic find in South Austin!! They mean it when they say it's how South Austin used to be. The parking lot was a little sketchy and the place looks rough but charming. Truly some of the best Mexican food and salsa I've had in a while at any place for a not unreasonable price. Service is amazing. Staff is awesome. Been here several times, and although their food is sub-par, they have some of the best corn tortillas I've ever had ever had. Pueblo Viejo Riverside is a popular Mexican eatery with three locations, including a counter inside the North Door on Brushy. The salsa selection, ranging from mild to sweat-inducing hot, draws large crowds. Their breakfast tacos like Taco Azteca and signature Pueblo Viejo Style are highly recommended. The place offers tacos, quesadillas, salads, gorditas and more. The no-frills trailer serves specialty offerings like Taco Don Chago for just $2.
This place is legit. It’s kind of a hole in the wall but don’t let that deter you. The tacos are so flavorful and the sauces are sooooo good. You can get your own sauces, and there is also outside seating. The service was fast and friendly. Will definitely add this to my Austin eats list.

We sat closer to the música. Volume was perfect for convesation grooving in your seat. When ready they will bring food to you. Food & drinks were good. That’s why we are going back to try other plates.
Ursula M — Google review
As an out-of-town visitor, we selected this establishment during our return journey. Upon reviewing the online reviews, we found the establishment to be highly rated. I personally believe that this is an exceptional taco place. The tacos are exceptionally flavorful, well-seasoned, and presented. The quality of the cheese used in the tacos is particularly noteworthy. I prefer white grated cheese, although yellow melted cheese is not my favorite personal choice. We ordered migas, which were delicious. We also ordered the taco Bueno, which included chorizo, potato, and cheese. It had a very good seasoning and good balance of ingredients. At the counter, you can find a creamy Serrano salsa that can be a good condiment for the Tacos. The coffee had a strong and flavorful taste, which is a significant advantage. However, I would suggest that the restaurant could enhance its ambiance by reducing the volume of the music playing. The current music selection resembles that of a Mexican cantina, which can be challenging for patrons to engage in conversation. I politely requested that the manager lower the volume, but the response was inadequate. The music remained at a high level, even after my request. Furthermore, the restaurant should consider the diverse preferences of its customers when selecting music. Not all patrons may appreciate the same genre of music. Overall, I recommend this place for a last-minute on the go taco.
Rosamaria G — Google review
Staff were very warm and inviting. Their Taco Viejo and Taco Bueno were some of the best breakfast tacos I’ve ever had. Gorditas plate and Tacos plate were loaded and definitely worth the price. Al Pastor Tacos were also phenomenal. You could get a very filling meal here for under 10 dollars, and it tastes great too.

Long live Pueblo Viejo😃😋 The al pastor tacos are delicious! I also recommend the carne asada tacos. You have to try the creamy serrano sauce and the creamy habanero sauce on top. The interior is beautifully decorated. We will be back to try some specialty tacos and plates.

Went to Gabriella’s Downtown Austin for brunch and it did not disappoint! I ordered the chilaquiles and they were absolutely delicious. I also had a Bloody Mary, nothing too fancy in presentation but super well-blended and tasty. I sat at the bar to keep it quick, and the bartender was awesome, super attentive and checked in on us often. Overall, great food, great service, and great drinks. Definitely recommend!

I always wanted to try this location because of the views. I had gone to the south location plenty of times and of course, it’s much bigger. This location is very small and the wait was long but we did have a group of 10. I did call ahead of time and they still had us wait an hour. The host wasn’t that friendly and I would stick to my south location when my family and friends come into town. The food is always 10/10 and we all love Birria tacos. It is a bit pricey but worth it ◡̈ my family from California really enjoyed this place they said it felt like they were at a day club and didn’t want to leave (lol). Our server was very nice and she took her time I’m sad I forgot her name but she really made sure once she talked to us that she took care of us and got everything we needed.

Don’t Bother Unless You Only Want Steak Parking? None. Service? Meh. Drinks? Gross. Menu? Only in Spanish, which is fine if the staff helps you. I asked for chicken tacos and got flautas. The only thing worth anything was the steak, and even that couldn’t save the experience. No free valet, no real guidance, and the vibe was off. Save your money, your outfit, and your time.

I found my new favorite restaurant! Our server (James) was outstanding, the food was fabulous and the chips & salsa was so good the 6 of us each ate a basket of chips and had several refills on salsa! The Enchiladas were so flavorful with the fire roasted Verde sauce.....highly recommend!

I love Serranos. They have broad menu variety without being overwhelming. Their food is always above par. I love their chunky salsa! Today my server was a bit slow on the initial take and impersonal. I sat for quite a bit before he brought chips and took my drink order. He didn’t have much to say - just write down what I said and went on. Today I got a half order of the shrimp nachos. It was just the right size for one. Sort of difficult to eat but after tearing it into pieces, it was yummy.

Exceptional Food, Outstanding Service, and a Manager Who Truly Sets the Standard I had an absolutely fantastic experience at this restaurant. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared — everything you’d hope for in a great Mexican meal. From the appetizers to the main courses, each dish was clearly made with care and attention to detail. The atmosphere was vibrant yet comfortable, making it a great spot for both casual dinners and special occasions. But what truly made this visit stand out was the exceptional service, particularly from Stephan, the manager. In all my dining experiences, I’ve never encountered someone so genuinely attentive, personable, and passionate about hospitality. Stephan went out of his way to make sure every guest felt welcome and well taken care of — not just at our table, but at every table around us. He brings a level of energy and professionalism that you rarely see, and it’s clear he leads by example. It’s not often you leave a restaurant raving about both the meal and the management, but this was one of those rare occasions. Stephan is a true asset to the restaurant — warm, engaging, and effortlessly good at what he does. His presence elevated the entire experience. Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be returning — and bringing friends.

Nestled in the charming Rosedale neighborhood, La Cocina de Consuelo offers a delightful escape into the heart of home-cooked Mexican cuisine. This cozy BYO eatery is a family-run gem that feels like stepping into someone's kitchen, where every dish is crafted with love and tradition. The menu shines during breakfast hours, featuring comforting classics such as machacado and eggs, barbacoa, and huevos rancheros—all accompanied by fluffy house-made flour tortillas that elevate each meal to new heights.
The cheese enchiladas are the perfect kind of cheesy. Perfectly melted and mild and almost melts in your mouth. Add a bit of salsa on for that perfect kick. The potato enchiladas are also very good with the chipotle sauce although I wish it had just a little more sauce. The restaurant is very charming like eating at your abuela's casa. No frills just smiles. They don't serve alcohol here so be ready to drink Mexican coke! Update: they are BYOB so the coke is going to be replaced by a six pack!

I visited Consuelo's because I love checking out small Mom and Pop restaurants that have been a part of local Austin history. Their place is super clean and well maintained. The experience starts from the moment you pull into their parking lot. They have parking in the back, but I liked pulling in literally right off Lamar Blvd by the front door. When you walk into the dining room, it screams adorably authentic. I was greeted by a very friendly lady who took my order and allowed me to practice speaking Spanish. The food came out right away. I recommend their huevos rancheros. I loved the delicious ranchero sauce so much I got extra. It isn't overly spice or salty. They let you serve yourself coffee from a big thermos. They constantly check it to make sure it is full. I also enjoy being able to grab my own mug off the shelf above the coffee dispenser. It just feels homey! And best of all was that they steamed my milk to add to my coffee. The coffee tasted a 9/10 on the flavor. Corn tortillas tasted home made. Fun time!

Sweet little Mexican restaurant - we had the chicken mole and the tacos al pastor, both were excellent. The corn tortillas were thick, warm, and handmade. Black beans were nice, and we tried an unfamiliar side - fideo, which was like a mexican spiced spaghetti soup. Tasty, but not easy to eat with either a fork or a spoon.

Homemade hole in the wall spot with great flavors, counter service, and a clean simple interior. I enjoyed the huevos rancheros with homemade flour tortilla and added bacon. All the items on the plate were great except the potatoes which were French fries cooked in a basic way. Service was mostly self serve (coffee) and you pay when you order. I plan to stop by again to try some of the lunch specials. Breakfast and lunch only.

It’s a nice small restaurant. The front part is for a few parties of 2/3 people. The back/side seats two tables of 6 each max. The back small patio seats two. The food was great, it reminds me of Mexican/Mexico home cooking! My only complaint would be the chips served with the salsa. The chips were not good at all I did not care for them, they tasted almost stale. The service was excellent our server was very nice & attentive, she had black framed glasses a younger woman (didn’t catch her name). My kids ate all their food which is surprising because they are very picky about their food if it doesn’t taste good they won’t eat it. Overall when in town we would come back.

Taquero Mucho is a vibrant and trendy restaurant with two locations in Austin, Texas. The all-pink decor makes it a popular spot for bachelorette parties and birthday celebrations. Despite its Instagrammable appearance, the food is highly praised, especially the choriqueso and crispy shrimp tacos. The restaurant's playful ambiance extends from the neon sign outside to the disco balls on the patio and even the restroom decor.
The food was incredible — fresh and flavorful. Their pink margaritas were a highlight too! The whole restaurant is seriously adorable, with so many great photo opportunities around every corner. Whether you're going for the food, drinks, or just the vibe, Pink Taqueria is definitely worth a visit. I can’t wait to go back!

My fiancé knows that i love pink and he surprised me and take me to eat brunch here. I must say that I was amazed of how wonderful this place is. The decor is really nice and the food is was amazing too. Service is good and fast. Overall, a great meal and positive vibes!!😍💖💖💖🌸✨

Super crowded and music is good but quite loud so it’s hard to talk that’s why I’m giving 4 stars. The waiter that services us was nice. I ordered the beef tacos (forgot the actual name on menu) and it was nicely seasoned. The sauce was nice and spicy so be careful. I ordered a mango margarita on the rocks and it was pretty good and strong. My friend ordered something with guava and she liked her drink. She also had the avocado with chicken (forgot to take pic) and she Really liked hers. She said it was very flavorful.

Very cute place for bachelorette parties! Lots of places for pictures. We made a reservation so there was no wait to be seated. The service was slow, but they were somewhat busy towards the end of our meal. They don’t have complimentary salsa. But the salsa flight was good. The carnitas platter was good and shareable! I got a jalapeño margarita and it wasn’t spicy at all but the flavor was good. The French toast was good too!

Excellent food and awesome service! 🌸 Super cute, pink, and fun spot. The brunch DJ music was way too loud (sounding like we were at a dance club)—hard to talk—but once the DJ left, the default music wasn't as loud. Parking is located on the same property but is run by an outside company with extremely high fees. Tip: free street parking on Sundays (maybe Saturdays too ). Overall, loved the food and vibe!

Everything is so pretty and pink! There is an area in the back that’s also super pretty. Even the bathroom is pink. You have to pay to park in that parking lot though. I paid like $16 for 1hr. Friendly staff. Pink dyed tacos - sopes. Pink cowgirl and cherry vibes.

I always love it here! Second time visiting from Massachusetts and the food reminded me of home! Delicious! I also recommend the alcoholic drink El Chapo which had lots of flavor. Prices are reasonable and welcoming environment.

Cutest pink restaurant around! I made sure to take pictures EVERYWHERE! The drinks are definitely something as well.. recommend high maintenance (cbd infused watermelon margaritas). ⚠️However too overpriced to come here⚠️The parking is 20$ minimum for 1 hr, each cocktail is 16$, and food is not worth the price either since the flavor is average at best. It was my friends bday and David our awesome server/bartender made the experience worth while and he alone deserves 10 stars! Best recommendations and so sweet, thank you for the wonderful service:)

Torchy's Tacos is a popular chain known for its creative and affordable Mexican street-food-style tacos, including breakfast options. The restaurant originated from a successful food truck and has since expanded throughout the city. It offers a menu filled with inventive taco varieties, such as green chile pork, fried avocado, and Baja shrimp. Additionally, their Texas-style tacos featuring brisket, smoked sausage, and fried avocado are highly praised.
Service at the bar and food area was great. The staff went above and beyond and found a pair of sunglasses I left behind. The atmosphere is hip, and they have happy hour drink and food specials. We bought margaritas, which were good but not overly strong. We like the Democrat taco option the best - yummy brisket and traditional toppings. The fried avocado taco was nicely done. I would definitely recommend!!

These are the most fire tacos I’ve had at a chain restaurant. Only place in Austin we ate twice on our 5 day trip! There is definitely a lot of good food in Austin but these tacos… 🔥
Kenneth L — Google review
Just a usual chain taco shop, not a fancy special taco shop. We didn't know this place wasn't an authentic taco shop as tourists! 😞 Food was just okay, but far from great. You'd better not pick this place if you're looking for a great taco place.
L — Google review
Tacos I’d say are mid, nothing mind blowing. Creative flavors, but otherwise wouldn’t say was anything amazing. I got the steak fajita taco, migos breakfast taco, a fried chicken taco, and the street corn. Street corn was very good actually and highly recommend it. Steak was a little bit tough for the steak fajita one. The fried chicken was ok, just a chicken finger inside a flour tortilla. This restaurant is a tad bit expensive for her it is. I paid $21 for 3 tacos and a half order of street corn. Tacos are about $6 each, a little pricey for what it is if you ask me. Environment was nice and clean. Restaurant is serviceable if you want a quick reliable meal that’s convenient. Otherwise, nothing to really write home about.

Did we spot Bruce Willis in front of Torchy’s? Anyways, back to Torchy’s. Danni and Moses were very helpful and I was excited to try The Republican gluten free and dairy free (because of Danni’s expertise). It was smoky and not fatty. Loved it. The boys liked the swivel chairs. Great spot to go to when visiting the library.

We sat at the bar and were finally served a drink, but then completely ignored for over 10 minutes. I eventually had to go up to the counter to order. The staff was rude and unhelpful, the food was mediocre at best, and the drinks were just bad. Definitely not the experience we were hoping for and won’t be returning.

My meal was perfect: the food had a punchy taste and smaller options were just right for my half-hungry stomach. Love the ordering system through the terminal. My order came out fast.

Restaurant
Grizzelda's is a charming and stylish restaurant that offers a diverse selection of central and coastal Mexican cuisine. The establishment was born from a culinary exploration trip through Tulum and Mexico City, which inspired the beachy and artistic ambiance. The interior, designed by the owners, exudes a relaxed coastal vibe with palm frond wallpaper, Mexican tapestries, and vibrant pink margaritas.
Grizzeldas has a really nice atmosphere. The place is really nice to look at! The food was pretty good! Their green salsa that comes with the chips is really good! It's not super spicy but spicy enough that you don't want to stop eating it. Our server was nice and friendly, the music was a little loud that it was a bit hard to hear, but other than that, it was a great experience!
Leti — Google review
The place was cute, got parking immediately. The drinks were okay. I would say $28 for 3 palm sized fish tacos were extreme. The fish was fried almost to a crisp. You could barely taste the cod. The tacos itself were bland. Service was great, our waitress was on top of it. The kicker was the wellness charge of $3 per person. We asked what it was and the waitress said it helps pay the health insurance of the workers? If you don’t want it, you have to ask for it to be removed. This was on top of paying the set gratuity of 20% for our table of 6. I wondered if the employer should pay for this instead of automatically adding it to every check and hoping people don’t catch it.
Carol D — Google review
The food was good, drinks were even better. Our server was sweet and on point. We did not make any reservations and were seated outside in the back. It was a pretty humid night but they had fans in the back so it helped a little. It did make it hard to hear your dinner party with the fans on. Big fan of chips and salsa and I loved their homemade chips, the green sauce was the best in my opinion. The next time I'm in Austin, I will be sure to come back for another round ☺️
Delesha K — Google review
Absolutely loved Grizzeldas. The spicy margarita is amazing and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. My friends had fajitas and went crazy for them. Look at the cheese. I did the steak tacos and everything was packed with flavor. Absolutely recommend going here.
Adam R — Google review
This place wasn’t it. We made reservations and sat inside. The customer service was kind and fast — honestly, no complaints there. The food, on the other hand, was below average and lacked flavor. I ordered the chicken and waffles, which the staff described as a churro-batter waffle with crunchy, single-battered chicken tenders and caramelized pecans. Unfortunately, none of that held true. The waffle was so bland that I couldn’t even tell it was supposed to be “churro.” The chicken wasn’t crunchy — it tasted more like a reheated chicken strip covered in fluffy batter, leaving behind an unpleasant fried film. And don’t get me started on the pecans. The menu promised caramelized pecans, but what I got were plain, dry pecans that seemed straight from the bottom of a bag. Not one ounce of caramelization in sight. On the brighter side, my friend ordered the strawberry French toast. It was tasty — a little too sweet for me personally, but enjoyable overall. If you’re not into super sweet or soggy toast, I’d recommend asking for the sauce on the side. Customer Service: 9/10 Food: 4/10 Price: 6/10 Overall, I paid $30 for them not only to play in my face but also to pay for their staff’s insurance (I’m not kidding — there’s a charge for that). I would NOT come here again willingly.
Dake — Google review
We were looking for a restaurant with gluten-free options not far from the Austin airport on a Friday night. Grizzelda's was able to take us as walk ins and seated us at the bar. The food was excellent and the service was just as good. The atmosphere was bar like, which was perfectly fine with us. Our bartender also served as our server and she was outstanding, friendly, and efficient.

The City-Wide Vintage Sale is a highly anticipated event held at the Palmer Events Center in Austin, Texas. This annual sale features over 300 vendors from all over Texas offering a wide range of vintage items including antiques, collectibles, clothing pieces, jewelry collections, and more. With special promotions like discounts on select items and exclusive previews of new finds, it's a must-visit for vintage enthusiasts.
One of my favorite events in all of Austin! I have found some of my most cherished treasures here and have met so many wonderful people. There is a myriad of new goodies to behold each month so you never know what you might find. This event is not one to miss!
Whitney S — Google review
Lots of cool Knick knacks and very old items. The only issue was the prices were extremely steep for some items. The clothes at some vendors were fair and cheap! The price to get in is $10, the price for parking in the garage is also $10. Some items felt more like junk but- one man’s junk is another’s treasure. Saw an entire poster collection for the tv show The Walking Dead.. not sure if that’s vintage but sure why not I guess! The place felt like a garage sale mostly~
Elizabeth — Google review
This is a great place to do some vintage and antique shopping. It’s one of the few in Austin that is indoors so regardless of whether it is 105°, freezing cold, or pouring rain you are still comfortable while you shop. Parking is affordable, admission is super cheap, if you want to you can pay extra to do earlybird shopping and get the best selection. However I think the best deals happen on Sunday (i.e. the last day of the show). I got a pair of amazing gear shaped coffee tables that way- they are vintage Ethan Allen and super hard to find. They usually retail at $600-$800 each and I got my pair for $300. There is a wide assortment of vendors to choose from - Some carry expensive, older, higher quality antiques but there is also a large assortment of heap costume jewelry, home decor, amazingly beautiful glassware, small pieces of furniture, taxidermy, vintage and ephemera, books, clothing, fine art, bin…you name it. Oh, and if you’re looking for something in particular go to the information desk and let them know and they will make an announcement over the loudspeaker for any vendors that might be carrying something similar to what you described to come meet you at the information desk

Love attending this event and seeing so many regular vendors! Not only have I found some awesome fashion accessories, but the homewares and furniture are fantastic! See you next month Citywide!

Seems like this place has gone a bit down hill recently. When I was younger I used to love to go, but it just seems like it's not the same anymore. My family and I go to the local free markets around the area, and always seem to have a much better time. I decided to give this place one last try in September, but once again was disappointed. Friends who have vended with them have said similar things now too, vending fee is too high and not enough foot traffic. Hoping they get better, but as of right now they've definitely lost their spark.
James B — Google review
In a city where most small businesses are unable to afford a brick and mortar location and the only antique mall closed a year ago, City-Wide Vintage is essential to keeping Central Texas independent vintage retailers visible. Some booths may not be for everyone but there is definitely something for everyone, at various price points. There are a lot of clothes (at great prices tho), however, there have been more vintage furniture and home goods booths popping up in the recent months, with excellent vintage quality and curation. I personally saw at least 10 booths (probably more) that had rare vintage furniture and home goods at the July show. There is no other place in Austin where you can shop this many vendors under one roof, regardless of the weather. This is definitely not a garage sale, so it’s important to align exceptions prior to attending. As someone who collects vintage pieces, I found the prices extremely competitive, and much less than what you'd find online for the same piece after doing research and a reverse image search. In the age of Amazon, I love finding unique pieces here and supporting independent and mostly women-owned businesses.
Shana O — Google review
Each table had so many gems. Spent 2 hours there. $9 admission. $10 parking. I was surprised but in the end with the gems I found, it was worth it.

What are you doing reading reviews? Get your butt to the City-Wide Vintage Sale ASAP! Did I mention they have a bar? Cash or card. It’s a treasure hunt with air conditioning, good lighting, and vendors who know their stuff. This place WILL have something you didn't know you needed.

De Nada Cantina is a casual Mexican eatery located on East Cesar Chavez. The cozy locale offers traditional Mexican dishes like barbacoa and carnitas, all served on housemade blue corn tortillas. The highlight of the place is the El Chingon margarita, made with El Tesoro Silver Tequila and Mathilde XO. The colorful patio with cafe tables and string lights creates a relaxed atmosphere perfect for sipping cold drinks.
The minute we landed in Austin I began searching for the best taco I could find. Being a review person, I found some spots that had so-so feedback and nothing really caught my attention. Well thats when I came across De Nada. "You are Welcome" was this an arrogant preemptive display of we know you'll be thanking us when its over or was this a simple warm greeting? Turns out it was both. As we pulled up the parking was a bit tricky but seeing the active parking lot and copious amount of people in and around the building, we knew we had stumbled upon exactly what we were looking for. We didn't have a reservation (definitely make one if you plan to stop in) and got lucky enough to slide in on the last available table inside. Our server was pleasant and present which made my party of 4 feel welcomed right away. We had chips and sauces for an appetizer and a variety of tacos to boot. Paired with some delicious but expensive drinks and this was everything we had hoped it would be. I would suggest making a reservation and limiting the drinks if you are on a budget but make this one a must try.
Michael — Google review
Food is 4-5 star quality. Drinks are solid. Service needs work. Epic greenhouse vibe, vibrant colors, authentic Mexican energy from someone who knows what authentic looks like. That sick bar area? Pure eye candy. Here's the problem: every single person working here acted like hospitality was a foreign concept. Hostess, server, food runners - zero energy, zero care. Had to flag down our waiter multiple times just to get water. Asking for more drinks felt like I was personally ruining their day. The space is gorgeous. The food delivers. The drinks work. But when your staff treats customers like a burden, you've got a fundamental problem. This place could be incredible if management actually trained people to give a damn about service. Will probably just Uber Eats next time. Get the good food without the attitude. Fix your service and this becomes a 5-star spot. Until then, you're wasting an amazing space and great kitchen.

All around great restaurant to stop at when you want some yummy Mexican food. It's exactly what I was looking for while in town. I'm from Ohio and we don't have great authentic Mexican food like this at home :( I'm jealous lol. So delicious though!! The food came out quick too and was cooked perfectly. Yummy flavors! Service is great as well! Our waitress checked on us often and answered my mom's million questions lol. They didn't give much salsa though for 2 people for our chips & salsa which was kind of weird lol but no biggie since it saved me room for my meal 😂 I recommend the flautas or enchiladas since I tried both and both were so great!! Even my picky mom said she would love to come back so we'll definitely stop here again when I'm in town to visit her again. Much love from Ohio! 🇲🇽❤️

Best fajitas in Austin , maybe even the whole state of Texas . Queso and jalapeno ranch adds the perfect flavor to the already #1 dinner this side of the border. The staff is even more complimentary than The taste of the Tex-mex dishes, make sure if you go eat here you bring enough $ cause the tip should be as much as you pay for food due to the service . 6 stars out of 5 highly recommended

As of October 2020, this is my favorite Mexican food spot. The google reviews did not steer us wrong. The jalapeño cream sauce that they bring out with the chips is phenomenal. I would share my experience on my food but I didn’t get served after watching 3 tables come in after me and get served. We were able to get one drink in and the waiter didn’t wait long enough for the rest of the table to order before running off. Tried to pay for the one drink and leave and they couldn’t get someone to check us out. Worst service imaginable. Negative stars.

My family and I love this place. We’ve been eating here for years, everything on this menu is good. The down side is waiting for the the food, it can take a while to get your food. If you choose to dine in, make sure you have a little extra time. My favorite are the beef fajita nachos. They put plenty of beef so you get what you pay for. They other thing we really enjoy on a cold day is their tortilla soup. I’ve included pictures of both. Sorry, we were already eating when I took it.

Sometimes a five star review boils down to 'food was good, staff was nice'. This is not one of those. I'm from San Antonio, (arguably) the epicenter of Mexican-American culture and Tex-Mex food. I've had thousands of Tex-Mex meals at over a hundred Tex-Mex restaurants. I don't think I've ever had anything at any of them that can match Ramos Tex-Mex's chiles rellenos con camaron (shrimp). The idea that an Austin (Austin!!) restaurant can sit alone at the top cracks my puro pinche heart, but it is true all the same. Ramos also serves good chips with spicy ranch, the only place I've ever seen do that. Awesome touch. 10/10. 100/100. What a meal.

Taco Deli on 3rd & Congress is like the Whole Foods version of tacos — clean, fresh, and making you feel healthier even if you just ate three. It’s not Torchys-level chaos with wild combos like “deep-fried brisket lava explosion,” but hey, simplicity slaps sometimes. You’re paying about $4–5 a taco. The staff are absolute angels. Fast and friendly. It’s an Austin classic taco location, not flashy, not Instagram thirsty, just quietly, consistently good. Like that one friend who doesn’t party hard but always shows up with Advil the next morning.

The service was horrible! The person who took our order rushed us and seemed bothered. When we asked questions, she just said whatever you want. The tacodeli bowl was 50% beans and bland. Paprika ATX is a charming food truck in Austin that offers a delightful selection of tacos, quesadillas, and beverages. The humble establishment features umbrella-shaded tables where patrons can savor their meals. The must-try taco at Paprika ATX is the El Puerquito Valiente, which showcases the culinary expertise of Mexico native Margarito Perez.
Visiting from San Diego and WOW these were the best tacos we’ve ever had. Coming from a city with top-tier tacos right next to the border, our standards are very high but Paprika blew us away. We got Al Pastor and Suadero. The tortillas are the freshest most flavorful we’ve had too. On top of that, they were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. An absolute gem in Austin… we’ll be dreaming about these tacos long after we leave!

First time here, taste just like tacos from Mexico. We don't have enough places like this in Austin. Went for the pastor tacos, only available on Saturdays while they last. Suadero and Tinga de Pollo were both excellent, salsas were delicious, I prefer a little more heat, not disappointed though.
Kailesh M — Google review
Paprika recently moved into a brick and mortar location just next to where their food truck used to be located. We tried them about a year ago when doing a best tacos in Austin day. Of the 6 places we tried, we put Paprika in the bottom 2. This time I ordered 3 tacos to go, 2 suadero and 1 queso taco with tinga. They were out of bistec and pastor at the time. This time I again felt the tacos were good but not top 5 in Austin for me. Their tortillas are a bit thicker and on the chewier side. I liked the heat from the red salsa, but its flavor did not complement the taco for me. The queso taco is definitely the way to go if you like cheese.

This place is LEGIT. Incredible incredible INCREDIBLE tacos. I got their specials- bistec (added cheese) and al pastor and they were soooooooo incredible. The Jamaica Agua Fresca was pretty great too!! Very refreshing. I honestly think I have n’t had better tacos anywhere else! My only complaint, and it’s literally so so small, was the table we had was a little crooked, on a slant so we had to make sure our drinks didn’t slip. I’m not even worried about that really though because the area isn’t very big anyway. The food was fast, PIPING hot, and the staff were so friendly and kind. Definitely check this place out.

Mexican restaurant
Casita Nicole Los Machetes is a popular food truck in Austin, serving up classic Mexican street eats with picnic table seating. The inspiration for this establishment came from the co-owner's childhood visits to Los Machetes Amparito in Hidalgo. The menu features a variety of machete tacos, including options like chicken in green sauce and fried pork, all served in generous portions. Despite minimal interaction with the staff, visitors have praised the quality and flavors of the food.
This place has been great always. I’m so glad they moved closer to my house! Very affordable, large portions and friendly staff. Can’t go wrong here!

Best Place, EVER! Been coming here for years & the new look is amazing. Food is the BEST! Prices are very reasonable. They're known for their "machete" tacos & they're so delicious. My fave's the all veggies mini machete & it's flavorful & A LOT for a "mini".
Fetuao L — Google review
Been meaning to try this place out, the food was really good. Cute little set up. Next to the gas station. Service was ok, they just took our order and gave it to us. No hello, or how are you, or ty for coming. They seemed.to be having a conversation of thier own. But..what can't complain about the food.
Cin R — Google review
The food at this truck is really quite good! We had the Machete with fajita chicken and beef, the Wero's fries and two Aguas Frescas. For two people that was plenty. Friendly service too. We'll be back here for sure.
A E — Google review
Pretty great place. The food truck has a covered seated area, which was nice. I did get the mini machete. (there’s a photo next to my hand, it’s huge! And it’s the mini!) Service was fast :)

Great service, super friendly. Had the Azteca Machete. Good flavor, tortilla crisped just right, no complaints. This place made my crap day better. This is the spot.
Michael A — Google review
Had the Monster breakfast tacos and it was one of the best breakfast tacos I've had in South Austin. The size of a burrito and filled with eggs, potatoes, cheese, chorizo, bacon, beans all for $5. Can't wait to come back and check out the rest of their menu. Super friendly folks as well.

We came from Dallas to the Besame Mucho Fest ,and my boyfriend found this 💎 100% RECOMMENDED. I had a blue machete de chicharron prensado and floor de calabaza. I loved it! My boyfriend had a breakfast one with egg, chorizo and potatoes and he loved it too!!! They're BIG. I tried to finish mine, but I couldn't 😆

Restaurant
Vaquero Taquero, founded by brothers Miguel and Dani Cobos, has an intriguing backstory involving unconventional fundraising methods and taco research along the border. The restaurant started as a pushcart selling breakfast tacos and has now expanded to two brick-and-mortar locations in North University and on Dirty 6th.
This fun, funky spot is as authentic as it gets: it evolved from a street cart, tortillas are homemade, and meat is slow-cooked on a trompo. The simple menu boasts tacos (al pastor, chicken tinga, nopales, and beef with birria subbing in for carne asada at the time of my visit), chips, and drinks. I opted for one birria and one pastor taco. Both were prepped quickly and served loaded with fillings. The pastor had excellent flavor, and I was sorely tempted to get another. I don’t know how Vaquero Taquero stacks up against other local taquerias, but coming from an out-of-towner with plenty of respectable taco options back home, this place rocks.
Zac G — Google review
Vaquero Taquero is a lively, laid-back cantina with great music and a welcoming vibe. But after 3–4 visits for Instagram-promoted drink specials—like $2 beers and $5 vodka cocktails—we found the deals are never honored. Despite arriving during the times listed (6–8PM, 8–11PM), staff told us the drink special pricing is only during their happy hour. The images they posted suggest the deals apply *during* their Cumbia night, not a vague happy hour that’s never clearly defined. There have been at least 2-3 people in the bar line who also ask about the drink special, get shot down, and express their disappointment each time. It’s frustrating and feels misleading. Vaquero, you’ve built something great—don’t risk losing client trust over unclear promotions. Their drinks are already reasonably priced ($7–$10), but advertising $2–$5 specials and not delivering damages credibility and looks shady as hell. Consider bringing on a social media manager to post accurate, clearly detailed Instagram posts. Bottom line: If you're coming for event-night drink specials, just expect to pay full price. 👎🏼

I recently visited Vaquero Taquero in downtown Austin, Texas, and it was an absolute delight! The ambiance was vibrant, and the menu offered a variety of tempting options. What truly stood out were the incredible tacos – I tried several, but the breakfast taco stole the show! The flavors were fresh, and the ingredients were top-notch, making it a must-try. Moreover, I must commend the outstanding service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant dining experience. The atmosphere was welcoming, making it a great spot to enjoy delicious tacos while soaking in the local vibe. If you're a taco enthusiast or just looking for a fantastic dining experience in Austin, Vaquero Taquero is the place to be. I'll definitely be returning for more of those delicious breakfast tacos and the warm hospitality!

Very tasty lunch! Chips and guacamole were good, all three salsas were a hit as well. The quesadilla and tacos were all very big and seasoned well. Parents said it was the best pastor taco they had.
Isabelle W — Google review
We were in Austin for the weekend two years ago and came across the place. It was so good that my daughter and I tried to go back the next day but it was closed. We were back this weekend and hunted it down again. It was everything we remembered! Grazi took great care of us and made a great recommendation for the nopales taco. It did not disappoint. The birria and pastor tacos were also delicious of course. We will gladly go back every time we are in downtown Austin!
Jennifer M — Google review
The waitress was great! Very pro and very courteous and attentive. Too bad the food was subpar. The meat filling was very greasy, I removed bits of pork fat from my tacos. The chips were almost inedible. Too bad because the salsas were good. The place looked unkempt and neglected. Too bad.

Cocktail bar
Taco Flats-Clarksville, located on Burnet Road, has undergone a transformation from a dive bar to a lively neighborhood eatery. The menu now features a variety of tacos and appetizers inspired by the owner's Rio Grande Valley roots. The breakfast tacos are particularly popular, made with handmade tortillas and fresh ingredients.
🌮 Taco Flats 🌮 These tacos were insanely good! I wasn’t expecting too much from more expensive tacos but I was floored. They’re loaded tacos so I would recommend 2 for a singular person. Even then, it’s a lot. We had a popular beef taco with cheddar cheese on it which scared me but boy was I wrong. This taco was insanely good. We also had the grilled shrimp taco which was also good but didn’t pair the best with the salsas. This isn’t the tacos fault but could be a negative connotation. I will be back and especially on a Thursday FR the surge. u

a decent taco spot with a ton of options. i tried the shrimp and gringa, which were both delicious. it's a bit on the pricier side without a matching portion size or quality. i think two tacos easily fills you up! the quesadilla is definitely a must try. wouldn't be the first place i come to when i want tacos but they do have yummy food. i came here for a birthday party and they were very friendly and accommodating. they even kept our cake in their fridge so that it wouldn't melt! they made the birthday special by being super friendly.
Ashley C — Google review
Great taco spot that opens after 3 p.m. Prices are decent and the food is delicious. Must try: the migas. Food: We ordered the migas, carne asada, and a salad bowl. The migas is my favorite. It is from the breakfast menu, but serves all day. Parking: convenient free parking is available on the side. Advantage: perfect for a late-afternoon bite since they open after 3 p.m. Distange: the table is a little sticky, not major.
Yimin Z — Google review
Getting really annoyed that yall keep giving me 1 little green sauce packet when I order 2-3 tacos for takeout. I shouldn’t have to ask for an extra sauce every single time, just add 1 per taco like you used to. Is this a cost-saving strategy.. what’s going on here? Even when I add an extra one on the order I still don’t get one. Saving 5 cents per order skimping on green sauce isn’t a great business strategy
Kyle A — Google review
Delicious tacos and drinks! We got their classic margaritas on the rocks with salted rim, it was tasty! We also got the nachos with cheese and those are great home made chips! We tried 4 different tacos, I think the brisket was my favorite! Beautiful seating areas both indoors and outdoors! Perfect for date night or a group party.
Holly P — Google review
We decided to give this place a try since we were in the area. Not a fan of the paprika on the chips since they turned my fingers red. The salsa was good with a little kick and the guacamole was average but also good. I got the migas taco on corn, very pleased with it. Mimosa was delicious. The taco with egg & cheese was for my daughter, that was a hit. Overall I was pleased with the food. The service was friendly, something was wrong with the smoke/steam from the grill coming from the kitchen though. It was smokey in the restaurant and the bathroom was like a sauna. Would try this place again, cheers!
TJ C — Google review
Pleasantly surprised, given the reviews. Came on a Sunday for breakfast. They had a brunch menu with breakfast tacos that weren't in their main menu, so not sure they are available every day. They are pricy ($6 or $6.50),but they are big. You might do one as a meal perhaps. I'd actually prefer less filling and a lower cost, so that two made sense. San Chorizo was good. The grilled jalapeño in it wasn't necessary. Really bad texture for the rest of the taco, so I took it out. Good otherwise though. The Dirty South was better. Pretty huge taco, if anything too much black bean. Could taste some bacon though. I could see doing this is as a meal and being OK with it. Flour tortillas were good. Not too thick. Cooked properly. The place seems more a bar than anything, but it's not bad. Expensive because where it is. Not on my best list, but would come back.
Michael H — Google review
Consistently delicious (Dirty South is my go-to breakfast taco and Don Ramon is my every time taco but my favorite item is the Tostados de Atún), consistently friendly, and my favorite of the three FT locations.

The menu includes unique options like birria de res, carnitas estilo Michoacan, and suadero. The spot is described as a hidden gem in a small trailer park, serving excellent and flavorful tacos with handmade corn tortillas and tasty salsas.
First time here food was delicious. Never had tried queso birria tacos acá they were delicious.

The aqua Frescas are delicious, our breakfast tacos were good, we had a few items missing some tacos and elote so be sure to check your order when they give it to you. It was good but not great, my family's consensus is we would try another place next time.

First time ordering delivery from here, I ordered two breakfast tacos and a sandia agua fresca and it did not disappoint. The tacos were delicious and the sandia fresca just what I was craving and I like how it came in a large because it was so good I was drinking it so fast

The food was some of the best we’ve had since moving to Austin from Houston. It was so delicious. Everything tasted homemade and the service was very friendly. Would recommend the sopes, horchata, gringa tacos with pork and the quesibirria tacos. Can’t wait to go back!!!
Sophie M — Google review
Great taco truck! I was recommended the quesobirria tacos. Bummer they don’t come individually and only in orders of three. I wanted to try more. The tacos were perfectly crispy and packed with cheese - good bang for the buck. The highlight of the menu were the salsas. A creamy green and dark red made the tacos pop and had tremendous flavor.
Matthew P — Google review
Nice cozy sport for a food trailer , clean and plenty of seating music playing and shaded area. Friendly service prompt service delivery time was about 15 min food was served hot and as ordered , we did find a hair in one of the tacos 🌮 they didn’t even apologize just exchanged the taco the salsa could be hotter but still had taste the aguas frescas were served warm they needed way more ice considering it was hot out . The quesabirria were great though very good cheese to meat portion tortilla was nice a crispy meat was tender the consomé was hot and awesome for dipping . Only one of the pastor tacos had pineapple 🍍 the others didn’t which was a bummer because my was the one without it . I give this place a 4/10

The tacos served at this food truck are amazing, they are some of the best tacos I’ve had. The tacos are authentic and have incredible flavor. I particularly enjoy the Carnitas and Chorizo tacos. The taco sauce was also very good, the green sauce had an amazing flavor and added a spicy element to the tacos. If you enjoy tacos and Mexican food you will not go wrong ordering from this food truck. Their food is better than most Mexican restaurants.
Derrick — Google review
This is a hidden gem! Located in a small unassuming trailer park, the menu will satisfy any of your cravings. The star of the meal was definitely the quesabirria (decadent, you will ask for more dripping consome to dip your tacos)! The tacos are excellent, super fresh and flavorful. We've tried 2 Aguas Fresca so far (mango and guava), both are made with real fruit and extremely refreshing. This place has definitely become one of our favorite tacos trucks in Austin. Don't walk, run!

Taco Pegaso, a street food counter in Fareground Food Hall, adds vibrancy with its Oaxacan alebrijes-inspired theme. Renowned Mexican chef Richard Sandoval introduces a range of lunch options like tacos and burritos, including the flavorful Chicken Tinga and the sensory-rich Al Pastor with marinated pork, pineapple, and cilantro.
This food is amazing, a true hidden gem in Austin! Everyone needs to try this place. It was my first time tasting pozole, and it was absolutely incredible—a flavor like no other. The crunch wrap was also out of this world, so flavorful and satisfying. And don’t even get me started on the burger—it completely blew me away! I couldn’t stop eating. Plus, the service was outstanding. Definitely a must-visit spot!

I used to live in San Diego and now live on the east coast but come to Austin frequently. Whenever I’m here, I’m always craving good corn tortilla-style tacos but rarely find a spot that hits as well as my staples in San Diego. This place is it. Excellent Birria that’s moist but has been simmering long enough to retain succulent flavor. Grilled shrimp tacos that’ll make you believe you’re on the coast. The green salsa is spicy and pairs nicely. Price was solid. I’ll be back!
CS — Google review
Taco Pegaso is tucked away in the downtown Austin Fairgrounds—aka the underground strip mall where your lunch dreams go to live their best lives. I walked in craving Mexican food like a hungover college kid craves a breakfast taco at 11:58 a.m. on a Sunday. I’m talkin’ full-body need. Like, if someone had even whispered the word “queso” in my direction, I would’ve cried. I grabbed the chicken tacos, and they delivered. Juicy, flavorful, just the right amount of spice to make your upper lip sweat a little but still keep your dignity. The service? Quick, easy, no drama. They handed me tacos like they were doing the Lord’s work, and honestly, maybe they were. I’m already plotting my return like a villain in a telenovela. Next time I’m throwing down on the rest of the menu like it owes me money. 4/5 would pegaso again.

We tried the mahi, shrimp, barbacoa, and chicken rings tacos! All were AMAZING and so fresh. We also had the Crunchwrap and I will say it was my favorite! We topped it off with churros. The caramel inside was perfect :)
Austen C — Google review
Great breakfast tacos. I think they close at about 11 or 12? My bf and I got the specials - chorizo jack and NY Texan (BEC). The line does move a little slow bc the same girl who takes the orders also packages up the tacos and calls out the order so because of that, when she is packing up orders, there’s a lull with the food coming out.
V H — Google review
If you want your fast food actually tasty and fresh, this is a great choice. It's down in the Fairgrounds Food Hall so a bit hidden but right at the river on Congress. There are many flavor choices and nationalities but in Texas, we chose quesadillas and an enpanada. It was a bit slow but fresh. They are small but delicious. You can't go wrong. Perfect for a snack or lunch.
Louis L — Google review
Could not have asked for a better meal. When I tell you the Chorizo/Beef burger was a top 5 burger I’ve ever had… I mean it. The beans and rice were phenomenal. Will definitely be coming back next time I’m in Austin, and if you’re local… make this your to Go-To spot ASAP!!!

This spot is definitely a hidden gem in Austin! I tried the burger, and it’s now one of my favorites in the city.
